« Wintry Dream ? The new 007 film shall be shot around here. »

Stayed 2 nights and was totally blown away by the natural scenery and staff warmth. I travel very intensively and have been to many top-notch hotels and resorts. The hospitality here tops my list. The view: the reality is much more beautiful than the photos. I took 700 photos during 2 days. And I am someone very picky about sceneries. Location: To-die-for. No matter what hour and what weather, the scenery is always mesmerizing. Majestic mountains (snow-capped while I was there), gin-clear fjord waters, fairy-tale ferry, chic boats, colorful houses, tiny cafe, winding pathways, an eyeful of snow-blessed slopes, turf roof, typical Norwegian huts, no-frill style of home decor, fresh salmon, moody lighting in the dining area (particularly in the evenings), and the unbelievably beautiful wooden bridges floating near the hotel's premises. Everything is fiercely sleek and inherently Norwegian. I loved every, every moment when I was there. Room: tidy, clean, good shower. Nice view (ask for one with water view). Quiet at night. No complaints at all. People (the Wow factor): Steffen in the reception deserves the title ?Most Hospitable Receptionist on Earth? ? he showed great, great, great patience in answering my questions before and after my booking. I do not like to drive whole on vacations and it took quite a while to work out the transportation links, where to change, what to take, how to book and when to come. Steffen answered all my emails, phone calls efficiently and always came up with insightful answers. And he turned out to be an inviting lad in person ? I felt his natural warmth and engaging hospitality every time I spoke to him. Let me thank you aloud, Steffen!!!! Erica in the restaurant is a smiley angel. The salmon she recommended was so delicious and I clung to this same dish every evening. The local beer she suggested was an absolute delight. Jane in the reservations helped me correct a huge mistake in the course of booking. As advised by her I made the booking directly with the hotel ? the rates then on offer were even better than those available on any major booking site. Thanks a lot, Jane! Lisa was so kind that she showed me the best suite in this hotel. When I walked in there I lost my breath ? what a dramatic, impressive, fantastic view across that huge French window!!!!! I have been traveling around the globe fanatically for one decade and I concluded firmly that Norway is the BEST LOOKING country on this planet. No explanations ? you know it when you have done it. My special thanks go to the stylish receptionist Gunn Homberset. On the second afternoon I was in a rush to the Orsta Ski Resort and I was getting late. She wasted no time by calling her hubby (Oyvind Taklo, a truly pleasant gentleman) who happened to be driving nearby and asking him to give me a drive to the ski resort!!!! I was totally, completely touched by her offer. To me greater surprise, her husband Oyvind not only drove me to the ski resort (which was closed due to much wind), but also offered to give me a complimentary drive-around for 40 minutes!!!!). It was one of the most unforgettable experiences I have ever had around this world. The Norwegian style has completely blown me away. Norwegians, just like this couple, are never pretentious, never obtrusive, and never smooth-tongued. On the contrary, they convince, assure and impress you in a quiet and long-lasting manner. The highlights: be sure to check the ferry schedule and take the ferry from the nearest stop (10 minutes' slow walk) and visit the nearby 3 stops. You will be shocked by the out-of-this-worldly beauty in a Norwegian fjord region like this one. I stayed onboard in spite of some drizzling rain and strong wind (on and off) to appreciate the unbelievable magnificence in this country. The clouds enwrapping the snow-capped mountains, the shimming waters all around, the majestic horizons which looked different every few seconds as the ferry went forward, and the crystal clear waves aroused by a docking ferry at each stop, and the idyllic villages dotted on the chic, sleek and elegant slopes at the foot of every towering mountain, the sunshine ahead of us, and the sunny-blended-with-cloudy sky ? all these elements combined to make me always tearful. To experience all this beauty, just buy one ticket and stay onboard until the ferry brings you back to the same stop. I could hardly forget what my eyes savored in those 2 hours on the ferry ride. There and then. Remember to walk or drive onto the waterside pathway to the right side of the hotel. Just 10 or 20 minutes you will pass by a corner. After that corner you will see something you will never forget for the rest of your life. The view is to die-for!!!!! And I must salute Norway. For the greatest nature and the equally great people.

« Cozy hotel with stunning views »

We are a couple that visited this hotel for a couple of nights at the end of october. We got the best room, nice, spacious and with an enormous window facing the fjord. Wow, what a view!!!!! You can see also the deck and the sauna into the fjord. The entire hotel has a nice and cozy decoration. Ask for a local beer or a hot tee while enjoying the fireplace when you come back from a day out on the fjord or the mountains. People runing the hotel are really nice and friendly. 100% recommended!

    « Unfortunate visit »

We arrived at midnight and got a room next to the boatdock wich you easily could hear the people walking past outside if they where talking. The room was nice but unfortunately there was a strong sour "sweat" smell that should have been discovered by the maid before giving the room to us. Together with the very limited selection at the breakfast lays the reason for "only" receiving three stars in this review. The location and atmosphere is absolutely stunning, the beds where comfortable and the receptionist strongly apologized for the room and gave us the night for free, so all in all this was probably a one-time incident and I will still recommend this hotel for a one-nighter.

« Perfect accommodation in a remote area »

Although it is a remote place, a lot of hikes and activities are offered (e.g. renting bicycles for free, renting electro boats for trips on the fjord, booking of the floating sauna). We had a room with a view to the fjord but be aware that the seagulls can get very loud (even during the night). It is of great value to have curtains, to keep the light outside the room in summer nights. The staff was very polite and helpful. The breakfast and dinner was absolutely tasty and it was offered free of charge to prepare sandwiches for the day (with the breakfast offerings).

« Stylish excellent hotel in stunning location »

Beautiful hotel with rooms on the water front. Lovely rooms, great sun terrace overlooking a pretty marina and the fjord. Stunning setting with gorgeous views. Exceptionally friendly staff and excellent food in the restaurant

    « Very mixed experience »

Mixed experience. Service was very good (kudos to our Lithuhanian server) and food at restaurant was good. The location is truly beautiful, sadly rain prevented us from seeing much of the peaks. However I am writing from a too-soft bed at this hotel. We reserved king rooms with a fjord view, received double rooms without. Wifi did not work properly in the far cottage near the street we were given. The cottages are rustic, but you should be given the room you reserved. We did appreciate the warm tile floor in the bathroom. And the lobby with the fireplace is nice. We were told we got this particular room because we requested a quiet room. Unfortunately we faced the driveway to the hotel so not completely quiet. With fjord view, and good beds this would be an awesome hotel.

« Incredible location quirky hotel. »

You should stay in this hotel for the location alone. It is surrounded by the fjord and is just stunning. The hotel is very rustic in appearance- turf roofs etc. The first room we were given was really dark and cramped - it was 403. The lovely girl on the desk changed us to a better room in the main hotel for our first night then in our second night put us into room 14 which was the best one of the three. The breakfast is good- the fresh avocado was especially nice. My one criticism is the limited menu choice in the restaurant-1 starter, 2 main courses and 2 desserts- which remained the same on both nights we were there. There is nowhere else nearby to eat so the hotel has a captive market. Having said that the restaurant manager did offer us some pork on our second night that we were very grateful for and it was lovely. It would be great to have some 'light bite' meals to choose from as well.

    « Very Noisy »

This place is amazing, beautiful setting, fantastic food. Its unusual, with some rooms being separate little waterside huts. Could have done with air con, because we had to have window open and there in lies a huge problem sadly. The seagulls are so noisy. Noise went on until around midnight and started again at 3am. Just relentless noise from these birds. Very little sleep because of them. Wouldnt stay here again because of it sadly. Without the noise, it would be perfect

« Fantastic View! Fantastaic Service! »

This hotel is at the end of a road in a little town in Norway. When you reach this place it is almost like you have stepped into a fairytail (or the movie, Frozen) as it is so very beautiful! The very best part however, is the wonderful staff. From helping me to find the hotel on my mobile, to checking me in, to helping find a suitable room for my group these people were the best! Checking in with Steffen at the front desk was wonderful. So kind and caring. He really knows how to let a person feel special. This hotel is very lucky to have him as he very much understands the idea of service. This is one of the very best hotels I have stayed in while in Norway! I very highly recommend it!

« Superb location with amazing view! »

We booked a room with view of the fjord. What can i say more. It was probably one of the best located accommodation i had in all my Norway trip. The view of the fjord from my room was justttt amazing. The fact that it is located quite remote made this place special. Great amnesties in the hotel. Excellent deco, comfortable bed, nice hot showers and most importantly terrific customer service. Good breakfast in the morning with the view (again). I suggest you guys to try their dinner here. Great taste too. This may not be a 5 star hotel, but they make it great. I would come back here anytime.

« Pice of heaven in the middle of norway »

Excellent service and courteous staff. We had excellent breakfast. The room was very clean. The views are amazing. We got stuck on the way because integration of the navigation system and ferry time and yet when we arrived in the morning the team gave us promotion to stay free of charge as much as we needed so we could sleep properly before continuing the trip and even offer us to stay one more night free of charge. We highly recommend this

« A good base in magnificent surrounds... »

This hotel serves well as a base for exploring the Hjørundfjord area. The ferry across the fjord is a short walk away and there are many spectacular hikes in the area, both by the fjord and into the mountains. The hotel is obviously having some issues with bookings via its parent company, Best Western. I ended up in the wrong room and was switched but this was done efficiently. The views are utterly magnificent with Mt Slogen taking centre stage. Despite it being early in the season, a full breakfast buffet spread was laid on for the handful of guest staying. This was of a very good standard. The room and bed were comfortable, ensuring a peaceful stay - except for the seagulls of course, but it's their habitat so fair play! The hotel could probably do with ironing out some small touches - dirty cups in room, no plugs at standing height and a kettle with a short cable which was placed on the floor to boil. Not a problem to me but potentially a hazard if young children are staying. But the pros far outweigh the cons. This is a nice hotel and the local area is absolutely worth a visit!

    « Beautiful, clean, minimalist »

This hotel was so quaint, cozy, and clean. Its views are UNBEATABLE and the staff was very friendly. The bar was also a fabulous spot to grab a drink before dinner and afterwards too, where we met some friendly locals. Be warned spirits aren't served after midnight, only beer and wine. Also, if you ask nicely, they'll put on pretty much any music you want! One thing to be aware of, the wifi doesn't work in every room. I also enjoyed the DIY waffle station at the breakfast buffet.

    « Fantastic Setting »

This hotel provides an incredible setting overlooking the Hjorundfjord. My room was comfortable and well furnished. It is also part of a marina, with numerous sea visitors from other cities in the area. The hotel is rather isolated, and alternate dining options are not available; motherless, I found the meals to be excellent. Would definitely stay here again.

    « Dinner on 30th August 3 pax. »

The dinner was superb and the service was excellent although slightly highly priced. We truly enjoyed our meal watching the Hjorundfjord was wonderful as we travelled by boat from Sykkylven and seen the tall mountains.

« Spectacular view and a homy feeling »

This hotel has been thoroughly remodeled and modernised the past year. We stayed there for a 2 day seminar from 17-18th. of March and the experience was absolutely uplifting. Nice rooms, clean and comfortable. The hotel has a special "homy" feeling to it, and the overall experience was very good. Reason why I dont give a full score, is the restaurant. Food was OK, but nothing special. We were a group of 22 People, so that might be the reason, With too little staff to handle this, the Food quality will be mediocre. However, the view from this hotel, With the beautiful Mountains is one among Norway's finest. Only a short trip from here you can etnter the unique valleys, and landmarks of Union Øye Hotel, and the mountain of Slogen. Well worth the trip. I would (even as a local) seriously consider staying here for a weekend. Highly recommended.

« The best hotel in the vicinity »

This is the best hotel I have stayed at. If they encounter any problems they just jump around and find a new and sometimes better solution. I have been here a lot of times. The rooms are clean, the staff is excellent. And you always feel very welcome when arriving. This is a hotel I will visit regularly. And I give it my personal stamp of approval

    « Beautiful! »

Would highly recommend a stop at the Sagafjord hotel. It was a highlight of our trip. The views are stunning and the service excellent. We emailed them and told then we would arrive late - we drove up from Bergen - and they kept the kitchen open for us. This is a small town. Enjoy hiking, a dip in the fjord (very cold!) A bike ride (complimentary bikes) and just relax on your balcony, marveling at the views. This is a perfect setting to take in the beauty of Norway.
