"Comfortable and reasonably friendly"

Stayed for a few weeks from December until March, two nights a week. Only one room - which did not have a bedside table was a disappointment. They couldn't maintain the special rate and that was the only reason I stopped going. Breakfast good. Food available on an evening but my budget was extremely tight so I wasn't able to treat myself. I did see other guests using the restaurant so it must be good.

"Very good hotel!"

The hotel was excellent. Staff were lovely even when some of the guests were very rude and obnoxious! The room was lovely and clean and the amenities were excellent. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

"Business trip"

Upon arriving the receptionist was extremely rude with my colleague, kept rolling her eyes and looking at him like he was stupid when he asked if we could check in early. She had no people skills whatsoever. As i had to get my stay extended due to work i was told i had to switch rooms which i did not mind as the bathroom in my first room was tiny. The shower did not work properly water was struggling to get out of it. The bathroom in the second room was much bigger however i had no cold water. I stepped in for a shower turning on what I thought to be cold water only to find it was boiling hot water!!! i then tried the other valve and once again it was hot! i struggled to shower it was ridiculous. After maintenance came i was told the valve was broken and thats it . They did nothing about it. There were however 2 lovely people a man and a woman at the reception who were very attentive and made up for that horrible woman that was there in the beginning. The breakfast was nice aswell

"Not Great"

not a great location, there was no cold water in my shower or bathtub. So basically had boiling water for a shower for 2 days, was not ideal. The carpet was dirty in the room. Best bit was the park outside..

"Weekend away"

We visited this hotel last weekend. The hotel looks nice from the exterior and is very clean inside. The room was again very clean and very functional. The cold water tap in the bath ran Luke warm, not cold, but this wasn't a major issue. The staff were polite, but nothing more. Nobody stood out, but nobody gave poor service as well. We decided to have breakfast elsewhere as the selection on offer did not look great. Overall the hotel is perfectly fine to stay in, but offers nothing special. Very middle of the road.

"Not the best!"

Room hadn't been cleaned properly but was rectified quickly. The meal in the restaurant was overcooked and dry with a limited menu - it appeared that the same person was cooking, waiting on and serving the bar. The staff were very pleasant but in short supply. There was plenty of hot water but poor cold water pressure so please check bath water carefully. As mentioned in another review, the windows don't shut properly (it's a listed building) which is ok in summer. The beds were comfy and pillows thin and lumpy. There is no lift but the staff are happy to carry cases up stairs

"Average Best Western"

Not many people staying in the hotel. The window didn't close properly as there was no latch to close it. There was toothpaste on the wall in the bathroom. Not a great choice for breakfast, would have expected more.

"Extremely helpfull receptionist and central location."

What nice place, what nice people, especially at this hotel only a short but steep walk from the town centre. Lovely and quiet and with a lady receptionist who went the extra mile to help...places, bus train and tram timetable and Spotland...nothing too much trouble. The hotel was undergoing a makeover so lounge and bar not open which was a shame. We will return to this hotel next season for L1 football match...Breakfast was superb and was ready for 7 as ordered the night before...that's good service.

"Quiet hotel, excellant staff"

Good hotel, quiet but not far (down steps) to town centre. careful and excellant staff. I have severe Lactose Intollerance and often find hotels do not cater for my issue. here at BW Broadfield Park. the staff couldn't do enough to cater for me. checking what was in each food, how it was cooked etc.

"business visit"

works in progress to paint - covered in dust room had hole in floor ; no bathplug on chain No desserts at dinner - at all ! and most things off menu Poor staff room dirty not a pleasant stay Adequate parking

"Not a good experience at all"

I arrived at about 9:45pm on Sunday 22nd April to find the front door locked. Rang the bell and eventually the door was opened. Receptionist explained that the door isn't usually locked but she was waiting for the Night Porter - fairly understandable that she locked it for security reasons. They are having a bit of a refurbishment, it turns out, but the smell of paint was overwhelming and gave me an instant blocked nose and headache - I have a bit of an allergy to fresh paint and it also made me a bit breathless. She gave me the key to room 210 which is on the second floor and there is no lift so i climbed the stairs. I have angina so found the climb a bit tiring - got to my room and the key would not work so I went back to reception - Waited ages before the receptionist appeared at which time she recharged my key. I climbed the stairs again and got to my room whereupon the key did not work again so I returned to reception and after waiting, again,I asked for a first floor room as I was not prepared to climb those stairs again. It took a while but she found a first floor room for me. Room was okayish, bath was chipped, putty around the edges and toilet did not flush well. Room was very small and not much room if there were two of you.Paper is coming off the walls in places and the room was far too hot. Also there is a CCTV camera outside right by the window, hope it isn't looking into the room! Bed was really hard and that, combined with the very strong paint smell resulted in me hardly being able to sleep. I was awake at midnight then again at 2am and then at 4am - really not good at all. In the morning, I nipped out for a cigarette, came back upstairs and once again my key would not work! Receptionist said it must be because it's near your mobile! Went for breakfast and was sitting waiting ages for a staff member to appear. When he eventually did I ordered a full English and a coffee - He came in with coffee, poured it and then advised me that milk was available on the buffet table. I than had to carry my cup of coffee to the buffet table (at the other end of the dining room) to pour into it from a jug. A bit of a faff on! Then my breakfast came! Bacon and black pudding were rock hard and difficult to cut. Egg was dry and beans were vile. The sausage was fairly tasty though. Apart from the sausage, this was not a good experience at all and I won't be returning.

"Business stay"

I stay here for one night , last minute booking by my company , I had room 207 , It was ok and best thing was the bed , I had a good nights rest , the hotel is being refurbished so was untidy in places as work was not yet completed . I did not eat in the hotel as I my company did not book any breakfast or dinner , The hotel suits anyone on business trip as its well priced and located

"A huge thankyou"

I would like to thank the staff for rescuing us in the blizzard of 1/3/18. By 9 pm we were stranded in Rochdale all motorways shut, all hotels in Rochdale, Manchester and Oldham booked by 9-30pm. As it was getting dangerous and we'd just come off the closed m62 I rang. They said we have no rooms but you are welcome to use our facilities, keep warm and safe. When we arrived a few other drivers had done the same. We were greeted by welcoming staff who gave us drinks of tea and coffee throughout the night, settled us down on their sofas with duvets, and despite being in the middle of renovations themselves they made us very comfortable. They also fed us breakfast this morning. A big Thankyou from jenny and Chris.....your team was excellent and very charitable and hospitable. Thank you.

"Not good at all"

I was made aware of the current refurbishment. However in these circumstances additional staffing is critical to manage and mitigate guest challenges. Not at Best Western Broadfield - no staff in the restaurant for evening meal or breakfast order (had to go to reception to ask for food and drink order). Diners were sat in their coats in the restaurant as it was so cold and when the evening meal was served nothing was freshly cooked - all frozen and very bad quality. Breakfast was better but still pretty pathetic. The room was tiny - although the bathroom was a good size - with a single glazed metal framed window. The wind and cold rattled in all night and as a result I slept in full clothing. Best Western should be totally ashamed of this 'sister' in their family. As a positive, the hotel receptionist was trying very hard and almost seemed embarrassed.

"pleasant stay"

I stayed at this hotel for two nights and found the hotel to be a lot better than i expected after reading some of the recent reviews, yes the hotel is going through refurbishment but that was not a problem for me also before going to the hotel i was emailed by them to remind me of the refurbishment so no grounds for people to say they diidnt know. The hotel room I stayed in was very clean and had all that is needed for a weekend stay the bed was very comfortable and plenty of tea and coffee was in room. The breakfast was excellent well cooked and hot and the last thing for me to comment on is the staff, from the young lady who checked me in to the rest of the staff I came across I say a big thank you to they were all very friendly and very helpful and I just dont understand some of the previous reviews its as if i stayed in a different hotel to them, to sum up if i have reason to visit the area of rochdale again i would not hesitate to stay here again once again well done to all the staff thank you.

"Surprisingly Good"

Just visited Best Western Broadfield Park Hotel .My wife and I had Sunday lunch there and we came away having eaten a thoroughly pleasant meal.Reviews have been mixed but we loved the food. The Sunday lunch menu is small ,but has enough different types of food for most pallets. The 3 course meal and glass of wine was 15 pound and worth every penny. The building is being refurbished but it didn't detract from a really good afternoon.

"Currently a building site, bu still no excuse for poor room maintenance"

The reception area is a building site, fortunately they only during the day. My room was on the top floor which hopefully hasn't been refurbished yet as it was OK but not great. The bathroom in my room was small with a light over the mirror and roof light which when switched was very dim: I think a candle in a jam jar would have been brighter. There were two liquid soap dispensers, one by the hand basin and one in the shower, but both were empty. The bedroom was better with several brighter lights and a usable desk, but there were unpleasant looking stains on the dark red bedspread and the WiFi was one of the slowest I've net in a hotel. It is a nice building and could be a lovely hotel, but they need to buck their ideas up! The current cheap pricing doesn't forgive basic errors.

"Gone downhill even further"

Having stayed several times in the past (2016) for business reasons I returned to this hotel as I was working in the area again. I have to say the service and the hotel has dramatically deteriorated. The hotel had always had a tired and run down appearance but the friendly staff and food made me return several times in the past. Unfortunately they seem to have now lost both these attributes. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment at present which has been desperately needed however this was not the issue with my stay. On check in the receptionist would not allow me to check into my room until I phoned my company to discuss how they would like their invoice sending! Despite having all the required details including credit card number directly in front of her on the printed fax. After a long journey trying to get through to my out of hours travel company to confirm what I had already said and what was there on paper was the last thing I needed. I got to the room which was absolutely freezing and after switching on the radiator decided to go to the restaurant. After standing in the empty restaurant for 10mins no staff in sight I had to go back to the desk to ask if I could order some food. The restaurant was also freezing cold. My first choice of meal had sold out, on making another selection this was also sold out! To which I had to ask what they actually had left! On my previous visits the food had been extremely good and this time was very disappointing. On return to my room that was still icy cold I noticed hairs on the bed and in the shower. The cups hadn't been cleaned with tea left in the bottom of one. The TV had no signal whatsoever on any channel but by this time I was too tired to even complain. I was just thankful I had my laptop to keep me entertained. To top it off a loud burglar alarm could be heard all night through the thin glazing. I will definitely not be returning to this hotel for further business trips.

"Being refurbished."

OK, the room was warm, the bed comfy and the breakfast filling. However the refurbishment has left the front entrance and stairs looking like a building site. This is probably acceptable considering the currently low charges.

Worked has housekeeper never got paid for working was used like I worked voluntary wouldn't ever advise working there if you need to get paid I dragged heavy laundry upstairs put my back out all just to be used I left in septb2017 and never got a penny off them different staff every week on reception kitchen and housekeeping

"Cold !!!!!"

We were her for a day's training conference. Everyone stayed wearing their coats and a couple kept their woolly hats on. Invest in some heating please! We asked for the heating to be switched on, and were told that it had been since 4am. Yes, it is January and it's cold outside. But in this day and age. It's no excuse for it being cold inside too.

"Not nice"

we were put in room 112.this was not worth the money.it was very small and the radiator in the bathroom did not work.the wall paper was marked and as i was noticing this i spotted what looked like spiton it.i couldn't stay on this room.the breafast area was freezing.

"Old and cold"

Stayed for business between Christmas and New Year. The room was clean and bed comfortable. Bathroom was small to say the least but ok. The reception area was being refurbished and had dust sheets pinned up and the heating in the restaurant had failed so breakfast was very cold!

Go camping, Glamping or just sleep in your car than stay here! Room allocating was shocking for a 28 room hotel with staff who may may never have left Rochdale for that matter. NO! Best Western NEEDS to inspect this "offering".

"Friendly staff, nice building"

The reception and bar is being refurbished, but the dining room and breakfast are good. Staff were friendly, room clean and beds comfy. The bathroom could do with an upgrade, but the room was warm on a very cold night. Really good access to the town. Onsite parking.

"Not really the best Western"

So far the worst Best Western I have stayed at with a breakfast that was memorable for all the wrong reasons. The hotel is in what was once apparently a home for District Nurses dating back to 1904 and was obviously once a handsome building. When we arrived the rooms off the lobby were festooned in sheets as the hotel undertakes a major refurbishment which, if one is generous, could explain some of the serious shortcomings. Entrance to the rooms is through a door at the top of the landing which requires a key card to open, which is not a problem except that the landing, like much of the entrance, looks tired. The room, 117, was small, with desk, chair and wardrobe, large bed, a TV high on the wall at the side of the bed and no room for anything else, but it was clean, the bed was comfortable, there were plenty of sockets and, as all we wanted was somewhere to sleep, it was adequate for our purpose. But it was in the detail where the hotel fell down. There was a tub full of coffee sachets, sweeteners and so on, but not one tea bag to be found, nor were there the usual packet of biscuits or the bottles of water found in many Best Westerns. Breakfast was a disaster. As it was part of the winter sale it was free, which was just as well as it was hardly worth paying for. Breakfast ran until 9.30 and we arrived at 8.45. The restaurant was deserted with several tables littered with uncleared breakfast plates. There were no cereal bowls, no fruit juice, just two slices of white bread – and no staff. Another guest arrived and joined the wait. After 10 minutes a girl arrived, saw guests and rushed out to get a pad, explaining she had been cleaning pots. She produced bowls and fruit juice, took orders for breakfast but had to be reminded to ask if we wanted tea or coffee. Tea for two arrived, and it was just that, enough tea for two cups – although to be fair it was a decent cup of tea. The full English had tired baked beans, tasteless tomato, a slice of black pudding showing signs of being around a heated counter far too long, and fried bread and a hash brown that tasted as if it had been cooked in a deep fat fryer with oil that was coming up to retirement – which may also have been the same fate, if only for reheating, of a sausage that was unpleasant to eat. The bacon was passable and the only saving grace for the meal was a freshly and perfectly cooked fried egg. No member of staff – and there seemed to be only one and she was doing everything - checked on guest or asked if everything was all right. I will allow Broadfield Park some latitude because of the difficulties of working through a refurbishment with a hope that things will improve when the refurb is completed, but no matter the difficulties, you expect certain standards to be maintained, as they have been in other hotels under full refurbishment I have occasionally stayed in. As it is the stay was a depressing experience from the rubbish in the corner of the car park you see on arrival to the dreary décor on the landing and a breakfast to forget. Service was perfunctory at best with staff giving the impression it was not the happiest of ships. We will be visiting the Oldham area regularly for a while dealing with the estate of my late uncle and stayed here because it was in the winter sale and less expensive than the Best Western Smokies Park in Oldham. Now we know why - and won't make the same mistake again.

"Pleasantly surprised"

We only went for a meal so can't comment on the accommodation but its in a nice old building in a quiet area. Went for Sunday lunch with a friend. We had read mixed reviews but everything was good. The receptionist was friendly and our waitress was very helpful and all three courses were excellent. I had pate followed by roast beef with roast and mashed potatoes a lovely mix of fresh vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and lots of grave followed by chocolate brownie. We will definitely go back

"Good and seemingly improving"

This was a same day last minute booking, as I walked into the hotel my heart sank as I was greeted by decorators sheets and what was obviously ongoing renovations, however, I needn't have worried. I checked in and then headed to my room which was very pleasant, spacious and very clean, a large bed, TV etc etc. Having settled I went for dinner and a drink and ordered the steak with salad, when it came it looked a very generous portion and tasted great. The steak was well cooked and the salad fresh crisp and came with a great dressing. One small let down was the fact that there is a generator or AC System situated outside under certain rooms and this was on and off through the night, I reported this the following morning and was told I should have said so and they would have moved me, which is very good to hear. Breakfast was very good - AMAZING SAUSAGES - plenty of juices, coffee and toast. If I have one small criticism it would be the seeming lack of attention from staff, whilst I don't want them to be in my face and pestering me whilst eating, asking how my meal was and offering dessert would have been nice and checking if my breakfast was satisfactory would have been nice. All in all a great place which once renovations are finished can surely only be better.

"In time warp"

Loverly old building but like many from its eara it needs lots of attention .all the fix$fits in my room had seen better days a long time ago .the heating was stuck on to hot and the antiquated shower with little heat .staff were helpfull and location for the town was good .parking was good .to be fair the bar area was closed for a refurb but its still pricey for what's on offer .

"Afternoon tea"

Had a lovely afternoon tea here, there was loads of choice and very fresh, staff was friendly and couldn't do enough for us 10/10, brought some home with us as we couldn't finish it all. Definitely go back.

"Beware "

Stayed at this hotel sat 4th November 2017 . Please be prepared if your going to stay here upon arrival we was given a room that we had to clean ourselves the carpet was covered in crumbs and there was a huge bag of takeaway rubbish still in there from previous guests plus there is never anybody on reception no information whatsoever when you check in one member of staff actually told us the bar is too expensive so go elsewhere if you want a drink it has to be the worst experience ever the hotel is so outdated and the cleaners are non existent best western should be ashamed. They certainly DONT deserve your hard earned cash the only positive thing I can say is the beds were comfy but that's it nothing else it's definitely NOT worth the money they charge T.R & sons

"Good value"

The staff were all very friendly and worked hard to make my stay as good as it could be. The bar and function roof were cordoned off but this didnt really affect my stay as there is a lounge area next to the restaurant and the staff were on hand to fetch whatever drink I wanted. On the downside the room was a bit dated but spotlessly clean and adequately sized. The town hall is at the back of the hotel and the chimes every quarter are a bit annoying but stop at 12p.m. until 5.00am. and the area around the hotel , although lovely during the day is a bit forboding at night with youths in hoodies wondering about and I made sure the car was parked in a light place , and the hotel does have CCTV. Main bug bear is as everyone else mentions, THE KEYCARD , PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GET THESE SORTED--,MANAGEMENT< IT IS LETTING YOUR HOTEL DOWN it is so infuriating to stand at the top of the stairs, go back to reception and then stand for 5 minutes trying to get the door open only to have the same performance when you get to the room.

"Business Trip for 1 night"

Overall an okay stay. The place is very dated including the dining area Room was okay and bed comfortable. No bodywash / shampoo in the tubes provided which I didn't find out until I was in the shower so attention to detail could definitely improve

"Terrible Customer Service - Substantial Customer Training Is Clearly Needed!"

I phoned up Best Western HQ to ask if they did a discount for group bookings (30 people) and was offered a better price and was asked to call the hotel directly to arrange the booking. When we called the hotel directly we spoke to a manager or higher authority member of staff who was extremely rude. He said that Best Western HQ should not be offering lower prices and they could not offer us any more than 8 rooms as they wanted to keep rooms available for commercial clients - and that they were independent and were not part of Best Wester, they only marketed for them. Whilst this is understandable, the terrible attitude, argumentative tone and the lack of any customer care was completely unneeded. It almost seemed that he was taking Best Westerns error out on us as a customer which is completely out of order. We were shocked at how a business, especially an independent one could treat a customer enquiring about booking in such a poor way. Then to add to this 'suddenly all of the type of rooms we were enquiring about were all sold out for the date we were looking at' - how can such a large hotel sell out in 5 minutes for a date 5 months away??? This is the worst customer experience and service I have ever had from a hotel. How can a hotel not be grateful for the offer of a large booking, and if they can not accommodate kindly explain why? We highly suggest that the person concerned attends a serious and long course of customer service training. Looking at other recently low star reviews it seems that this hotel has a low level of satisfactory service. My advice would be to not even bother enquiring to this hotel - go down the road to Moss Lodge 5* Hotel which is the 'same price' and has outstanding service!

Me and my wife had driven all day and arrived mid afternoon, we were checked in by a scruffy looking girl in her own clothes, made our way to the room but the key card didn't work. I had to walk back down the stairs to ask for a new one, no apology given, she simply slid the card over the desk without any eye contact and just stared into her computer. Luckily this time it worked. Our room was small and smelt of damp, the windows didn't close properly and it was very cold. We were advised the heating wasn't due to come on yet but we could have a heater, no offer for a heater or extra blankets. We decided to try the food as we didn't fancy venturing out in the rain, what a mistake that was! Our starters came after 30minutes, tasteless and boring, we were the only people in the restaurant, our mains were both overcooked, seems the chef (Cook) can't cook a steak very well. It was badly seasoned and there was grease on the plate. (It all came on cold plates) The following morning we came down for breakfast, the breakfast wasnt bad but nothing special either, all the staff seems to stay behind reception, we had to get someone to come take our order. Overall, the staff seem to have no passion, even the manager girl who was showing people around had no enthusiasm in what she was doing, the hotel needs updating for a Best Western. Only highlight was we slept well, our bed was comfy, and the parking was good.

"Dated but clean. "

Visited here 30th sept for one night and as the title says, Very clean but not been updated for quite a while in my view. Our window wouldn't close as the lock was broke but this never became a problem because of the quiet location.

"Long Weekend Visit for family gathering."

We stayed here for a long weekend. We were very disappointed. Not a very friendly greeting when we arrived, had to pay up front before we even got the room key! The room smelt mouldy. The shower water temperature kept changing, it was dangerous standing in the bath, as there was no form of anti-slip mat. My side of the bed had no bedside shelf to put my glasses etc on. Had to put the dressing table seat there. Windows were soaking wet & dripping all over the window sills. Had to keep asking for extra milk to be able to have a cup of tea/coffee in the evening & in the morning. The door card did not work very well, had to get it changed. The bed was comfortable if you were allowed to get some sleep. On the Friday we were woken up by very noisy guests coming in late, shouting and banging doors. But the worst night was Sunday night, very loud folks coming in after 2am staying in the room next to ours. We could not get back to sleep. My husband went down to the reception to complain, after putting up with it for a few hours. We got up packed our bags ready to leave early. The reception offered us a free breakfast as they were very sorry. As it was a few hours till our train we took them up on their offer. If this was the best their chef could produce then I am glad we didn't pay for bed AND breakfast. We have stayed at many Best Western Hotels around the country and this is not even up to its 3 star rating.

Took advantage of a Groupon offer for a three course Sunday roast with wine. We had to pre-order our requirements a week in advance which raised a slight issue when the hotel couldn't confirm the soup of the day. They did offer to try to serve our soup of choice but we declined the offer. Only one other couple dining in the restaurant on arrival and staff wearing casual clothes. We were offered any table and the starters were delivered promptly. A reasonable start. Then the main course arrived - one chicken breast and one roast beef. My wife (a cook) first stated the chicken was tasteless, the vegetables were well over cooked and mush, the roast potatoes were full of oil which flooded the plate when cut into, the mashed potato lumpy and the Yorkshire pudding was greasy. My roast beef was so dry even the gravy didn't moisten it - it was inedible. Both mains were returned barely touched. The Lemon torte was served up and it clearly wasn't fresh - confirmed by the skin which had developed on top. Again returned barely touched. I complained to the Deputy Manager who said the problems were due to refurbishment taking place and the ‘chef' not being their regular chef. I didn't accept his explanation but he did arrange a full refund of our voucher and gave his genuine apology for our experience. I cannot see a return to the Broadfield Hotel for a meal being an option even if it was offered for free.

Large building, centrally located, with parking. Once grand, now faded. Needs more money spent on it than it can earn so despite best efforts of staff there is a long way to go. Fair value for basic business travelling. The restaurant is nothing special. The breakfasts suffer from too much economising on cereal and yoghurt purchase.

"Great staff Nice location"

This hotel is being refurbished at the moment but don't let it put you off because the rooms are a good size with comfy beds and white cotton bedding. The dining and relaxing areas are fine and even though the bar was being refurbished we were served in the seating area no probs. Breakfast was fine and Tony who was waiting on (and is apparently the Assistant Manager was lovely nothing too much trouble for him and he was on his own cos a member of staff hadn't turned up! Leanne and the other girl on reception were great Leanne ordered a taxi for us for the evening and it was spot on time. I feel sorry for the staff because I think they get a lot of abuse because of the refurb going on.

"Under refurb at moment"

In the process of dragging it up to the normal BW standards. Regardless of this fact, this specific area was on the BBC Documentary "Three Girls" which is enough to scare anyone off, especially females. For this reason alone females should avoid it, it is a very spooky area and Hotel.. This building used tu he an old peoples home and has been converted intu a Hotel. Although a lot of decoration and carleting has been dune, it still retains a musty smell on the corridors. The new decor is very amateurish, anybody could hwve avoided paint smudges and creases in wallpaper.. TBH, this place will ruin Best Westerns reputation, I don't know why they got involved with it.. It is a very dangerous area. Be warned.

Katie G, Reception at Best Western Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Davidcamm, Thank you for your feedback. Correct, we are currently undergoing a refurbishment on improving our public areas, we cant wait for it to be finished and unveil our new restaurant and bar. We aren't based anywhere near where 'Three Girls' was filmed or originated from, so unsure why this statement has been made. Females and males are very safe in the hotel itself and the grounds, with up to date working CCTV, I am sorry you may have felt unsafe, but I can assure you this isn't the case. Please when our refurbishment is finished come and stay with us and you can see we are up to Best Western Standard. Kind Regards,

"Under refurb "

Not good at all but I suppose as the place is currently undergoing a refurb it would be unfair to slate it. But it is definitely one of the most outdated places I stayed in. There was six of us in the restaurant and it took one hour for my order to arrive I had important call to take so gave in an left restaurant b4 food arrived from wherever they went for it. Staff are really nice and helpful but it must be hard for them while the hotel is getting done up. Hopefully this is my last time I see this place as it is poor

Katie G, Reception at Best Western Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi john1810jdw Thank you for your kind feedback on your experience in our restaurant, we are currently undergoing a refurbishment which is causing delays in various departments of the hotel, but thank you for appreciating that its not permanent. When our refurbishment is completed and our restaurant is fully back open please come and join us with your friends and we can show you the true level of service we give. Kind Regards,

"Nothing to write home about"

We stayed for 4 nights in the Broadfield Park Hotel. Nice people but service was a bit hit and miss. For instance on 3 occasions there were no glasses at breakfast and they ran out of orange juice two days running. One day the egg had the consistency of a tennis ball and yet on the last day the breakfast was superb. Breakfast was about £8 so reasonable to expect basics and consistency. The hotel is a bit seedy around the edges - for instance the desk lamp cover was gradually disintegrating like a bad case of dandruff. I agree with David that you some times have to 'Hunt for Staff'. However the location is superb and the park right outside is an historical landmark and great for the early morning walk.

Katie G, Reception at Best Western Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Roy C, Thank you for your feedback on your stay at The Broadfield Park Hotel, especially on your experience on breakfast. I am sorry there were issues with your breakfast, we strive to make sure guests start their day correctly with a good breakfast and I am sorry the eggs weren't cooked to your taste and we ran out of orange juice, these failings aren't how breakfast service is usually reflected and I am truly sorry. We pride ourselves for being in the perfect location based right in the middle of the park and I am glad you made the most of this luxury so close to a town centre. We hope to welcome you again soon. Kind Regards,

"Absolute Disgrace/ Wedding Disaster/ Dont Make Our Mistake (Endless list)"

if i could score lower than one i would, my daughter booked a wedding here for next year, we were told they could accommodate for the number of guest by the wedding coordinator, we later went back after being told the wedding coordinator had left and was told this would not be possible after paying a deposit. we then went back at a later date after trying to cut the guest down and realised this was not possible, we were then told we could have the amount of guest we had planned for, even though this would have been against fire regulations. whilst making our complaint the management called us liars and that everything that we had complained about was false, even though whilst there we had written everything that was said down. they refused to give the deposit back even though we had booked under false pretences. the way they dealt with us was absolutely disgusting, this went on for over a month of emailing, ringing and visiting with the management. My daughters wedding preparations and day is supposed to be an amazing experience instead she had to spend her time trying to get the money back that was paid for a wedding they knew was not possible.

"Helpful staff and good amenities hotel"

Beautiful hotel, excellent service, great location! Would recommend in a heartbeat!! Excellent service and staff are very helpful. I stay from Monday to Friday most weeks. The breakfast is to very tasty and a good start to the day

"Saturday night restaurant disaster"

Went for a meal here Saturday 10th June 2017.Booked for 8pm. No one on reception or to greet in the restaurant.Had to go to find someone. Tables set for breakfast. Found waitress serving drinks in bar. Menu very poor and limited. Main meal was a disaster, Peas well overcooked! Chips were frozen variety and very salty. Steaks were of poor quality more like frying steak and likely to have been reheated. Had to ask for a sauce! Sauce came but was like hot milk! Got it replaced. Overall a shocking experience and wont go there again. Asked to see chef but she refused to come,

Katie G, Restaurant Manager at Best Western Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi David H, Thank you for your valued feedback. I am sorry on this occasion that your meal in the restaurant wasn't satisfactory, the matter has been fully investigated at the hotel due to further feedback and comments from yourself. As stated in our response, you received adequate compensation on the day of the booking and also this matter was resolved privately with management. We can only hope that you chose to dine with us again and we can restore your faith in us with our new Chef.

"Could be better"

The plus point is the bed was comfortable. On the negative side the ensuite was far too hot, the TV too small for the distance it was from the bed and my room overlooked what I think was the kitchen area and there was the sound of running water all night. The biggest downer for me was returning to the hotel at 9.30pm and asked if I could have a sandwich. I was told that the kitchen closed at 9 pm. I pointed out that their own room information said that snacks were available 24/7. I was told that snacks meant bags of crisps and no more! Very disappointin. The staff were friendly and helpful but for a single room rate of £81, I expect a lot better in the way of facilities. The car parking is free which is another plus and there is a short and steep walk down into a delightful town. With that in mind the hotel has a lot going for it and could just do so much better.

Katie G, Events/Restaurant Manager at Best Western Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi 409robertj, Thank you for taking the time to give some feedback on your stay. I am glad you enjoyed your stay, down to the comfortable bed and friendly staff and service. I am sorry to see that there was a bit of an issue with our bar snack menu, we are currently improving our menu and will take your points and add more bar snacks for after restaurant hours for our guests. We look forward to welcoming you to our charming hotel again soon.

"Not up to usual Best Western Standards"

Stayed here for one night recently. Seems like a lovely old building but is in real need of some TLC. The bedroom itself was ok and the bed was comfortable however it doesn't look like a vacuum cleaner has seen some of the carpets for quite some time and the staff were not the most welcoming. It's a shame because previous stays in Best Western hotels have always been good but this one is letting the side down.

Katie G, Restaurant & Events Manager at Best Western Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Jollybob, Thank you for your feedback on your stay at The Broadfield Park Hotel. We are currently looking at ways to improve our guests experience for the hotel and this includes some TLC as you have stated. We hope when he have undergone these changes, we can change your feedback into a positive one. I can assure you our carpets are well acquainted with a vacuum being used daily on them. I will discuss with staff members your points on not being very welcoming, as this is not the standard we like to show to our valued guests.

"Broadfield Park Appauling"

We arrived Friday night just for one night. We chose this hotel so we were near to the BMI hospital. This hotel does not even deserve a one star. It is in major need of a re vamp or closing down. We got the best room it was dirty dusty and I could not wait to get out of the place. We went down to the bar to get a drink and we thought we might eat in the restaurant. When the barman poured our drinks the glasses smelt terrible it actually made me borke. We went out and ate. Took mum to the hospital for 7.00 am this morning still in waiting for her. Could not go back to that place. Had a nice breakfast in the hospital.

"Horrible "

When we arrived Friday we were told to pay in advance and breakfast 7 till 9. The key card didn't work so back to reception for a new one. When we got into room there was dust on every surface and hairs all over carpet. Told Receptionist we were going out and could room be cleaned. When we got back it was no better. Went for breakfast at 7 to be told it didn't start till 8. Definitely not worth waiting for. Dining room carpet and tables covered in crumbs. Stale, mushy fruit salad, burnt pastries. Served by Receptionist who kept sniffing and sneezing everywhere. The whole place was grubby like no one really cared.

"Wedding "

I had my wedding here in 2013 the staff arranged everything I didn't need to do a thing the food was amazing the venue was fantastic rooms beautiful staff where amazing. Since then both my sister in laws have had the evening do here and as with mine it was simply amazing the staff here really do get to know you and know your needs weather you just fancy a stay in somewhere quite beautiful welcoming or you want any event here you will not be disappointed

"Excellent Hotel for Travelling With your Dog"

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the park opposite is perfect for dog walking. The room was not large but perfectly adequate and the bed was comfortable. We had a lovely dinner in the relaxed bar area with our dog who was made to feel very welcome. We would happily make a return visit!!

Katie G, Reception at Best Western Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Sarah F, Thank you for your kind feedback. We are a pet friendly hotel and always welcome pets, for me, dogs especially! I'm glad you found our beds to be comfortable, a comment we regularly receive. We hope to welcome you and your furry friend again soon Katie

"Nice enough. Would stay here again"

Bed was comfortable, large bathroom, and the shower was hot. Hotel staff friendly enough. We arrived later in the evening and the desk was a little scatty, but helpful. Good directions given to the town centre, which is walking distance to a very good Asian Buffet. Breakfast is buffet style for cold food, and the full English came quickly, cleanly and hot. Quite relaxing. Check out staff were understanding of some of my comments as to bathroom cleanliness and previous users - nuff said. The free internet was easy to log onto which made the business side of things very easy.

Katie G, Events Co-Ordinator at Best Western Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Just_the_cook, Thank you for your feedback. We get a lot of comments about our staff and our big comfy beds, guests tend to say its the best nights sleep they have had! We're lucky to be right in the middle of the park but closeby to the town centre and its restaurant! We look forward to welcoming you again in the near future. - Katie

"Great value"

Hi Danny E Thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope you come to visit us again soon.

"Very pleasant hotel in a great location"

The Hotel deserves better than 3/5, but there is no 'Good' option. This is a criticism of Trip Advisor, not the hotel. Lovely building, one of many in Rochdale, a little neglected, again, like so many in Rochdale. Lovely, very helpful staff, if in need of a bit of a polish. This review would be 4/5 if it were not for lack of 'finish' in their presentation. Great night's sleep. Wonderful beds! Easy walk through the park to Rochdale town centre and its stunning Town Hall if you are going to an event there.

Katie G, Events Co-Ordinator at Best Western Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Richard H, Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and had a great nights sleep, we get a lot of comments about the quality of beds improving a guests nights sleep! I will pass on your comments to the staff members. We hope to welcome you again to our hotel. - Katie

"Great food, friendly staff"

I visit the Best Western Broadfield Park Hotel for meetings or functions on a regular basis, the staff are always friendly and helpful, the food is great, and the hotel bar is very comfortable. An added bonus is that the hotel sits on the edge of a well kept park which is great for photos if you are holding a wedding there and it's only a few minutes walk away from Rochdale Town Centre.

Katie G, Reception at BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Alan C, Thank you for your kind feedback. I will return your kind word to the team. We take pride in being right in the middle of the beautiful Broadfield Park but also closeby the convenience of Rochdale Town Centre. We look forward to welcoming you and your team after summer again. Kind Regards, Katie - Reception

"broadfield park hotel rochdale best western"

I visit this hotel frequently staff very good always a good night, the gardens are always nice and the views very good, very central you can walk into Rochdale center from the hotel, nice bar area/ lounge. should you wish to talk to other guests.

"Awful night's sleep....."

The omens weren't good before I arrived. I was unable to get details of the hotel on Best Western's own website and neutral sites were stating that he hotel was closed. This after I had already booked via a hotel aggregator site! I phoned the hotel in advance and they confirmed that the hotel was indeed open and that they were trying to fix the issues on the Internet. I checked in around half six, easy enough experience but you are simply given a plastic key card and nothing else. Good job I have a good memory as I was only told the room number once.... I asked for a copy on the restaurant menu or whether there was one in the room. I was informed that there were "only one or two" so I'd have to go to the bar or the restaurant to see the food choices. My twin room was small but adequate and very much in need of modernisation, probably 20 years or more out of date. The beds, single, had no headboards and directly where your head would go, if sitting up, were switches which were taped to stay in the "on" position with the message "Please do not switch off"! Not particularly conducive to a comfortable night of rest and relaxation. The bar menu wasn't setting the taste buds off so I ventured out to eat. Got to sleep about 11.30 but was woken about 2.30 by the sound of people in the corridor talking loudly, knocking on doors and generally being a nuisance. This continued until about half three and later included someone emptying the bins directly below my window. I raised this at reception whilst checking out and was told that they had been made aware of the disruption and that the guilty parties were contractors finishing a late shift. The receptionist added that they would not be welcome in the future. Very comforting I'm sure but did little to install any confidence in my wanting to return here again. No offer of any compensation and getting a “have a nice day” was very much something of an afterthought. This was a late cheap deal with pricing on a par with well-known budget hotel chains. However, staff seemed thin on the ground, customer relation skills almost non-existent and the hotel really does need to drag itself into the current century. I respect the fact this is a period residence but there are obvious ways in which the two elements can be married together in a way that makes the experience more enjoyable for all concerned.

Katie G, RECEPTION at BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Steve D Thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. Yes, at the time of your booking we was experiencing some technical difficulties which have since been resolved, I am sorry this caused an issue for you whilst trying to book. I can only apologise for the issues you experienced during your stay and I have forwarded your comments onto all the relevant departments for improvement. Being a listed building we take pride on our hotels vintage charm, although this isn't to everyone's taste we rarely get negative comments on our style and people enjoy the historic feel of the hotel. Kind Regards, Katie - Reception

"Lovely hotel with character"

Stayed here for three nights, staff very helpful and food in resturant was good. This is not a modem hotel the decor matches the style of this old building but all very clean. The local area cam be unsafe at night but once at the hotel all is fine. I will stay here again.

Katie G, Events Manager at BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hello AlanWest, Thank you for your positive feedback. We have just recently changed our menu and we are getting many good comments about this, so I am glad that you enjoyed the food also. I will pass on your good words to the staff members. Hope you come to join us again when you are next in Rochdale. Katie

"Not that Great "

I stayed here for 5 days the reception staff where great. I was early on arrival and the girl behind reception was great made us a coffee and she got my room ready early. I had a few meals in the hotel the first on I sent back twice. The chef was obviously having a bad day. On all the hotel is clean the rooms are nice with all you need in them. Location is near the town walking distance with plenty of choice for food and drink.

Katie G, Events Manager at BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Shadyneil, Thank you for the feedback. Thank you for your comments on the reception staff, and myself who checked you in early. I'm deeply sorry on this occasion that your food wasn't up to proper standard and we have informed the chef of his mistakes on that evening. We pride ourselves on our cleanliness and also the convenience of being close to the local town centre. We hope to see you again soon, and prove that the failings in the restaurant was a strict one off! Katie Events Manager

"Loved it! "

We stayed here 19/11/16 for a night. We paid for half board with a double room. Which was a great price! Upon arrival we were quickly checked in and went to find our room. Lovely character hotel and clean in all areas. The room was spacious, very nicely presented and comfortable. We ate in the bar area where we could choose from the menu. The lady on reception went out of her way for us and brought our drinks to our table and took our food orders. The food came quick even though they were busy with a large function. The portions were good and it was well worth the money, then we had a dessert and a cheese board and this plus the drinks were all covered by the half board allowance! The hotel was very quiet we never heard a peep from other guests. We slept very well. Breakfast is amazing. The same staff were working In The morning who served us the night before yet they still had smiles for us and worked efficiently. Continental breakfast items, fruit, yogurt, cereal and again choice from the menu of full English and other items such as pancakes, Egg benedict etc. All cooked fresh to order. Juice and tea and coffee available. We really enjoyed it and the food was a real bonus. We would definitely return. Thank you for a lovely stay! :-)

"Based on a one night stay ...."

This is an old building with some history. It's that time of year when one arrives in the dark and unfortunately I had to leave in the dark so I missed the stained glass window. My room was small but cosy . I found the dining room to be rather stark and boxy, so ate in the bar area which was a nicer room. The menu was not really my kind of stuff but that's just me, I settled on a chicken burger. The staff appear to multitask , and do a grand job. I had to leave before breakfast so missed out ! In conclusion, it was nice to stay in an older building rather than the standard hotel box room .

Katie G, Receptionist at BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi David C, Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry you didn't get to see our stained glass window, maybe next time you come and stay with us you will get to see how beautiful it is? I apologise that our dinner menu isn't to your taste but I'm also glad you found something on there you could enjoy. I'm happy that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again soon. Katie

"Great place! "

We went to a Suprise 70th birthday party here and stayed over to save travelling back home that night. What a fabulous time we had, and the rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable. The breakfast next morning was really nice, with lots of choices! Service was amazing, and all the staff were so helpful and obliging, felt as if we were staying with family! Lovely place, would highly recommend.

Katie G, Receptionist at BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Sue H, Thank you for your feedback. I'm so glad you had a good time, we all really enjoyed having members of the party stay over and the party itself! I will pass on the message to the team members. One of our strong points is our breakfast, with a choice of cooked or continental so I'm glad on this occasion that shone out to you. Hope you come to stay with us again soon. Katie

"Tired Looking Rooms"

We stayed here using our Tesco vouchers, which we trebled up. The double room with breakfast was supposidly £91 per night. The room was in need of a complete makeover & I must say that we have stayed in hotels half this price that were a lot better. Breakfast was good, with plenty of selection. The hotel is within easy walking distance from town. Overall the place needs a complete renovation & is not worth the money.

Katie G, Receptionist at BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Kenneth, Thank you for taking the time to send us some feedback. I'm sorry to see that our rooms weren't to your taste, I will look into this and see how we can improve from your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your breakfast and that the hotel is very central to the town centre, which is convenient to our guests. I hope in the future you will come to stay with us again. Katie

"A Good, Reasonably Priced Hotel"

Stayed here whilst in the area on business with a colleague. A well placed, good value hotel with friendly staff and comfortable, clean rooms. Nice choice of breakfast items, including a full English Breakfast.

Katie G, Receptionist at BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Dazc459 Thank you for the positive feedback. I'm glad that all aspects of the hotel met your expectations during your stay. We're happy that we have wide variety of choice for breakfast, whether its hot or cold, we accommodate for everyone. Hope to see you again soon if you're ever staying in our town again. Katie

"Beautiful architecture "

Firstly, having read some of the reviews I wasn't sure of what awaited us on our VERY late arrival at the start of our 2 night stay. 5 adults and three rooms later, I can say that all of the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast for us was very good with a selection of fruit/cereals/full English on the menu. The staff were exceptionally helpful in regards to directing us on the best places to eat as a family and also very patient on our arrival at 11.30pm organising us quickly and efficiently. This hotel IS old and almost 'churchy' inside but as it sits so magnificently next to a beautiful old church and in such a historic town that it adds to its character and yes it does need money spending on it but I would still defiantly recommend this place to stay.

Katie G, Receptionist at BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Lindsay, Thank you for your positive feedback. I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and we also enjoyed having you and your family stay. We're always on hand to assist you in deciding where to spend your time whilst visiting the town. We hope that whenever you may be in Rochdale again, you and your family will decide to stay with us again. Katie

"Nice stay shame about the fire alarm"

I recently stayed here and found it really nice. The food was good ,the staff were very nice as was the accommodation. But a very loud false fire alarm going off in the early hours really spoilt the night sleep , and it left me feeling very tired the next day.

Katie G, Receptionist at BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Nigel Barry H, Thank you for your positive feedback, I'm glad on this occasion that the food and staff were the highlight of your stay. I'm also very sorry to hear of the fire alarm disruption during the night, I hope this doesn't deter you from staying with us again. Katie

"Overnight stay"

Beyond belief Dirty room buckets on breakfast table - for leak ? Sticky dirty tables in bar Drab and horrible Meal at night average and dry Breakfast 2 cereal types, no butter on table -not good Needs money spending on the infrastructure light in room didn't work 1 inch of dust on top of wardrobe carpets filthy

Katie G, Guest Relations Manager at BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Andrew H, Thank you for your review. I'm sorry on this occasion that our hotel failed to meet your expectations. Unfortunately at the time we were experiencing issues with a leak, I'm sorry this affected your breakfast experience. I hope in the future, if you're ever in Rochdale you will come and stay with us again. Katie

"Lovely staff make this a great stay."

This hotel is quite a lot more than you pay for. Now, to the negative reviews - remember this is a budget hotel. The staff of this hotel make it what it is, they are all absolutely lovely. From reception (who seem to do more than that) - who always say hello and help, to the barmen who chat to anyone about anything, to the housekeeping that are just so incredibly helpful. I stayed with a cat for about 2 weeks. They were really wonderful. I always wanted more milk or this or that and they always accommodated me. The breakfast is what you expect for a cold continental and then you can order hot if you like. I had the poached eggs and they were done well. The meals at night - tried the burger, soup and fish/chips - all were fine, more so the burger. The hotel is located near the train station, right near an asda and not too far from a mall. I doubt I will need to stay here again, but if I did I would. They made the transition from London to Manchester very smooth.

Katie G, Receptionist at BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Hi Kerry D, Thank you for the positive feedback. I'm glad that our staff shone out to you during your stay, and we're always happy to help with any queries big or small. Our Chef will be happy to hear that you enjoyed dining with us and tried out the wide range of items on our menu. We're happy to accommodate guests and their furry friends, whether the stay is long and short. Thank you for choosing us for your stop off before the move into Manchester. Hope you come to stay with us again. Katie

"amazing chef"

Chef is extremely helpful. The staff went out of their way to do things during my stay which they didn't have to do. i was scared at first when reading previous negative reviews but it is not true at all!

Katie G, Receptionist at BEST WESTERN Broadfield Park Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you Nabila A for your recent positive review. Thank you for the particular mention of our chef, who I will relay the postitive feedback to. I'm glad our staff shone out to you on this occasion, and that previous negative reviews didn't deter you from staying with us. And we look forward to welcoming you to our hotel next time. Katie, Receptionist

"Wedding Reception"

Great location rooms are being upgraded all the time compared to our last stay in Nov 2014 100% better. The receptionist Leanne was brilliant nothing was too much trouble. The manager John was so professional any time I had any concern whatever time of day I could ring him or e-mail him and he returned my call the very next day at the very latest. We had booked a wedding reception for 160 people and there was more than enough room in the function room. The hot and cold buffet was faultless service was excellent. We asked for more chairs and they appeared. Nothing was too much trouble we recommend using this as a wedding venue

"Very poor hotel"

On arrival we where warmly greeted the staff where very nice, it all went down hill from there, there was 3 of us staying and all the rooms had problems , shower not working properly, taps falling off, dirty cups, noisy fans, and breakfast was poor, the place needs some TLC, there was a 24 hour bar and complimentary fast Wi-Fi, if only they could get it sorted.

"Nice base for visiting the area"

I visited Rochdale which is not the usual tourist spot, however I wanted to stay close to where my family resided before the known generations left and this was in situe in that time. As a female sole visitor I felt perfectly safe in the hotel and found it an ideal base for my visits to touchstones (for the archives). I also visited various points of interest to myself in relation to the history of Rochdale. My room was clean whilst compact and the bed was comfortable. I stayed for 4 nights and the room was tended to daily. The staff were pleasant enough though I had little contact bar check in/out. The stained glass window is beautiful and a nice retained touch of the original house. From the hotel it is only a short walk into the town centre. I will stay here again on future visits.

Room, Very Clean. bed really comfortable. Top floor, No lift. Shower intermittent (Water cuts off or runs out occasionally). Extractor in bathroom not working. Walls very thin and could hear Everything in next rooms bathroom (Based on room 203) Staff really nice and helpful. Good parking. Restaurant had very loud Jazz music playing (Radio 2) making conversation difficult. Staff turned volume down as soon as asked to. The meal ordered was Sirloin Steak that was not sirloin, more likely a thinly cut piece of Brisket or other cut of beef (overcooked). Chips were more like wood chips than potato chips they were that overcooked. Peas were what appeared to be a dollop of tinned mushy peas (maybe chefs night off?). We left the meal unfinished and went to Asda and bought sandwiches. We were however not charged for the meal. I have stayed in several hotels nearby that were a lot cheaper and considerably better value for money.

"Stay away"

Disgusting dirty and no management skills at all! Just stay away from it basically! ?? I wouldn't stay here if somebody paid me! The whole place needs money spending on it and time to employ the correct line of staff not just anybody off the street!

My partner booked us here for a birthday night away, checked in by the most impolite receptionist ever and then things went from bad to worse. Walked into what I can only describe as a large cupboard off the landing. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while and even found hairs in the bed so went back down the steep stairs to reception and asked for another room, we where allocated one straight away but after walking into an even dirtier room we gave up and decided we wouldn't be staying there. After asking for a refund the "lovely" receptionist had the cheek to ask us if we had used the room in anyway !! How they have been given any awards is beyond me and how they can charge £75 for a broom cupboard that has obviously never seen a broom is absolutely disgusting, more like worst western

"A good venue for function"

We booked the function room to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Our party was about 100 and the room is able to accommodate this number. The location is good - easy access to town centre. Customer service was excellent - thank you John and your team. The food was good but some confusion about what "Gluten free" is and cross contamination. Nothing was too much trouble for the team and any requests were address quickly. Was expecting to be billed for additional beverages (tea/coffee) but this waved which was appreciated. My only criticism of the venue is overall its very tired - its in serious need of updating. Also some attention to housekeeping (the windows need a good clean and table/sideboard/desks tops need polishing/dusting - looked like this hadn't been done for a while and then with a damp cloth).

"Great value"

The hotel is a little dated but the staff and service are excellent. We checked in a lot later than planned and missed dinner/room service but reception were very helpful and suggested some local places to eat and order from. The rooms were simple but spacious enough and had everything we needed. All the staff we encountered were friendly and polite.

"Interview "

I attended an interview at the broadfield park hotel on Thursday morning and though I didn't spend the night I wanted to praise the excellent staff that worked there. All the staff where extremely pleasant and nothing was too much for any of them, particularly the young girl on reception, she went out of her way to make me and the other interviewees plus my wife feel comfortable, making several cups of coffees and pots of tea and wishing us luck as we went into the interview. On leaving she recommended a beautiful place for us to go for lunch along with showing us the place on the PC she then gave us the postcode. Couldn't ask for better customer service, if I was ever in the Rochdale area again I would definitely stay at the broadfield park hotel.

"Wedding reception "

We went here for my best friends wedding reception and was very disappointed by how dirty the place was, even more how badly the bar was run having to wait half hour every time for a drink, the breakfast the next morning was ok but guest had to wait to get a table because the room wasn't big enough. The room was ok and bed was comfy so I gave them 2 stars for this.

"Overnight stay"

Went to Rochdale for the Feelgood Festival and booked a night here to save on taxis. Did the same last year. The room we were initially allocated hadn't been cleaned but they quickly gave us another room. Absolutely spotless. Free wifi and brew making facilities. They gave us a jug of extra milk no problem at all when we had used just the 4 cartons they leave you. Didn't have any meals so can't comment on the food but staff are friendly and will probably book again next year.

"Great for price"

Lovely building, very clean nice rooms. Nice location on edge of the park. Staff were great and very helpful. Reception and stairways dated and could do with modernising. £55 for the night was great value I thought.

"Pleasant enough friendly, bit tired needs makeover"

Stayed here Tuesday evening nice location next to park and easy walk into town, few pubs, large Asda etc ample parking. My room felt like a room from sitcom favourite Faulty towers lots of creaky wooden furniture. No maps, local information in room , just the 1970s menu scampi, fish, steak etc I opted for scampi was basically a huge bag of frozen value tiny scampi deep fried and shovelled on plate like a pile of chicken nuggets to crunch through, I opted for salad rather than the routine chips and peas, she seemed little surprised at that. Very small bar with Tv shuts at midnight, pleasant staff but for Best Western is surely their portfolio Faulty Towers. Clean.

"Tired hotel "

We stayed here for only one night. Afternoon Receptionist very helpful ordering taxis for us for later that evening and no issues with check in. As you walk through the hotel you can see that it is very tired looking and does need money spending on it. The room we booked was a double it was very very small I would have classed it as a small single never a double. It faced the back of the hotel no real outlook, the main window wouldn't open just the tiny top one we did find the small fan in the wardrobe but we couldn't sleep when the fan was on due to the noise, we couldn't sleep due to the stuffiness and heat in the room. Not a good night at all. The bathroom was functional. Only one bedside lamp.

"Ok for one night"

It's an old building that needs updating but my room was ok. Slept well.Kept window open all night. It was ok as an emergency place to stay with less than 24 hours notice - if I had more time and the kids were not off school I would have done some more looking.

"A very pleasant stay"

reading previous reviews would have put me off but for this hotel being the most convenient for a local function. DO NOT be put off by the negative reviews, yes the hotel is an old building but that is part of its charm. Our room was lovely, spacious, spotlessly clean, well equipped bathroom. Concessions tray had everything required, really comfortable bed and a peaceful view of the park. It was relatively quiet. The breakfast was fantastic. We stayed with a large group of friends who all agreed. We had a full English and eggs benedict both perfectly cooked and served quickly by an attentive and friendly waitress. In fact every staff member we came across were faultless, polite and helpful, from a smooth check in, they ordered us a taxi, the night receptionist sorted out a very minor issue with our key cards very efficiently, to the smiling waitresses and morning reception staff. There are some stairs and I didn't see a lift, but we didn't find this an issue at all. Plenty of private parking. They opened the bar on our arrival back at 2 in the morning for us. The shutters were down but they didn't hesitate to accommodate us. If you want an ultra modern high tech experience then this is not the hotel for you but if you want a peaceful relaxing stay in an historic building with a pleasant atmosphere all round then I would recommend this hotel.

"Characterful Hotel"

My room was big, with a huge en-suite. Controls for the shower were outside the shower which was odd and made for a wet floor. Presume it's something to do with the position of the plumbing in that room. Wasn't bothered about it having a four poster bed, though it was comfortable. The room was too warm (couldn't see to turn off the radiators) though it was an okay temperature during the night. Nice view over the park, and very handy for walking into Rochdale. Bear in mind that there's a very steep hill between the hotel and the town centre. There's an Asda that's about a 5 minute walk through the park (quicker than driving). Breakfast was good. Parking appeared to be ample - I got there early and had the choice of the whole car park. Was packed by 9pm. There are spaces outside on the road, though I'm not sure I'd want to park my car there. Hotel is a little tired but not too worn. I would stay here again.

"A little bit Fawlty Towers"

Following our wedding reception in Rochdale Town Hall most of the guests stayed here. Despite the fact that they knew a large party was staying, no additional staff were laid on, breakfast on the day following the wedding was served by one overworked, and stressed chap, struggling to cope on his own, while guests who stayed the previous night regaled us with stories of breakfast from the morning of the wedding, including the chef having a blazing row with the waiting staff and throwing all the eggs at them. We had the honeymoon suite, which had clearly been refurbished recently, and it looked lovely, but we discovered it was a case of style over substance, the expensive top of the range bathroom couldn't be used because there was no hot water, not even enough to fill a sink. The staff were helpful and kind, I think trying to do their best in difficult circumstances.

"Most staff friendly but service not great and hotel was worn"

Stayed here for business in June 2016 - the hotel itself is worn and in need of a refurb. I had two different rooms over two weeks. The second week the room was tiny and in the attic - while this was no major issue for myself it may travelling alone it would be for a couple as space was limited. It was also obvious that cleaning had little attention paid (A drinking straw was on the floor the whole week and the floor did not look like it had seen a hoover for several months). The majority of staff were friendly but were not very adapt at hotel / catering service. For example I was asked what I wanted for breakfast and my colleague was ignored. I don't for one minute think this was ignorance as such but purely lack of training / common sense around working in such a business. I dont often review or complain, but I would not stay at the Broadfield Park again.

"The good bits cannot hide the large flaws"

Good bits was my room was comfortable, it had a quality TV and well decorated bedroom plus the reasonable bar prices is were Good stopped. So here we go for what needs improving, my bathroom sink was so small it was useless, the room (121) backed on to a flooded flat roof caused by a combination of broken down pipe and blocked drain. The noise was a loud splashing like a waterfall, what else needs repairing ??? The overall hotel building is impressive but it needs thousands spent on updating, public areas are very tired, the bar looked like it belonged to a church hall, the restaurant was empty and was very uninviting. The five other guests were in the bar which meant the barman was constantly walking to and from the kitchen bringing food, which made me think they have no staff. It's as if they planned poor service. The location is ok, but I wouldn't walk around as driving in was through a ghetto and was truly dreadful. I did get a little lost and drove around Rochdale which is THE most ugly, depressed, festering sore of a place I have ever seen. I need to be paid a lot to come back.

"Tired and unloved"

A sad place, this was no doubt once an elegant residence. Time has moved on and the hotel is crying out for love and investment. The staff at breakfast are the strong point. However self service toasters demand a set of tongs to pick up bread. Watching customer after customer sort through bread slices by hand is just not acceptable today. Breakfast was freshly cooked and good but the alleged buffet is again just not good enough. No fresh fruit or cereal other than kiddy choices just doesn't cut it. No lift so rooms on the second floor up a narrow staircase are a challenge. Reception achieves Fawlty Towers levels of indifference but without the charm. If it's unmanned you are invited to use the phone, don't expect an answer.

"worthy of their AA 3 star and would stay again with privso"

We specifically had requested a quite room unfortunately that was missed and the wedding DJ started up . our room was next door. We were offered to change rooms to be fair . This offer vindicated themselves and it is important to be acting immediately and positively. Ok so not our best experience, but we would stay again but perhaps check which room and what functions were on . Yes it is an old hotel with some character if you look closely - loved the stain glass window!. Some folk suggested it is modernised but you have to look at the market. It does not pretend to be an AA four star. Staff in uniform would be nice or some identifier at least of who is who would be useful. It is about 10 years since we were last in the hotel for a meal and we were pleased to refund it for accommodation. Parking fine , breakfast in our case was complimentary with a good selection of continental with a basic full english was cooked well . Yes we would stay again ideal for town centre! ESPECIALLY LIKED THE COMFORTABLE BED!!! ( good sleep time that I appreciated)

Had my wedding here yesterday I cannot express how happy I am with the staff at the hotel they went above and beyond to make our stay perfect ?? would stay here again and highly recommend. Everyone was so friendly made me and my new wife feel welcome all my guests commented on how nice and friendly the staff/hotel was Thank you again Gavin and Nikita Glasgow xxx

"Enjoyable stay"

A nice, relaxing hotel to stay in. Not your trendy accommodation, however this makes your stay better as it is like stepping back in time to a generation that we shall unfortunately never see again. I shall stay here again when in the area. Thanks to all the staff

"Iwould stay again"

Nicely situated to all amenities, friendly staff. Tired décor but clean and value for money. I will stay again as convenient for visiting my family. A lovely old building set in nice gardens and surrounded by a park yet within walking distance to the town centre and railway station. In fact I think its the only hotel to allow the family pet dog to stay within the immediate area so top marks for this.

"Best Western Marie Celeste"

This hotel should be renamed - "Best Western Marie Celeste" there's barely any staff. - No one at check in - No one in restaurant - No one in bar - No one at breakfast It's a very strange hotel. It's a great old building but it needs a lot of refurbishing. I also find it odd that the few staff they actually employ have no uniform. So you don't actually know who is a guest or a member of staff. The breakfasts and dinner I had were substandard. I was charged £96 for my 'executive room' which was tiny and bar some new wallpaper it was in a time warp. Unless you can get a room here for under £40, I'd avoid it.

"Needs Updated and Review of Service & Costs"

Had issues with Quality of Room and Breakfast. Staff Helpful enough, however. It was mainly clean, but not 100%, faulty Heating Thermostats, Noisy Rooms that are outdated. Found the condition of the room and facilities did not match the cost.

"Ok but just ok"

We stayed bank holiday weekend, the room looked clean but it hadn't been hoovered. We paid the extra £8 for breakfast and if I was to do it again I don't think I'd bother, it was small and service wasn't great, had to ask for tea, juice and bread for the toaster. Save the £8 each and go to Regal moon for breakfast.

"Wouldn't stay again"

Checked in late, couldnt get a key and was informed the wrong time for both checkout and breakfast. Was also charged again for a room I had prepaid with Hotels.com. The hotel itsself it dated and really not great. Both members of staff i interacted with were friendly tho. Hotel was very stuffy and hot

"Did the job!"

We stayed here recently as we were attending a local Wedding and needed somewhere to stay overnight. The hotel was fine, the staff were fine, the room was fine...a little weathered and wouldn't stay for any longer than what we did! But it was fine!

"Great location, Rooms and staff not great."

We've stayed here three or four times now as a friend puts gigs on in Rochdale. It used to be nice but rooms now need a major overhaul. Room tiny and dirty. Complained and non apologetic reception said they were full but would have room cleaned again whilst we were out. Fixtures and fittings in bathroom including taps insecure. On checkout a different receptionist was curt, unsmiling and generally had bad attitude. Hate giving negative reviews but this was my experience on that weekend.

"Service warmer than the meal!!"

We spent the evening at the hotel to celebrate a colleagues retirement. We have attended other functions at this venue and have found the food more than acceptable but on this occasion it was well below average and at a £23/head price we expected much better. All of the food hovered between lukewarm and cold. The soup was tasteless and the vegetables that accompanied the slither of beef were rock hard. The service level far exceeded the standard of the meal and on that basis we couldn't recommend this venue to anyone looking for a similar event.

"Retirement Party"

I hosted my fathers retirement party at the hotel and was extremely disappointed with both the service and the food that was served. The soup that was served was cold and tasteless and in fact most guests didn't even know what flavour it was. The main meal which was beef was also cold. The vegetables were hard, the potatoes were charcoal and the gravy was like dishwater! To say I was embarrassed and disappointed would be an understatement. I have complained to the manager and have been informed that the food was served to standard which I find completely unbelievable! Having held my wedding at the hotel 4 years ago I cannot believe the decline in the quality and service.

"works do"

very poor food , flat yorkshire puddings luke warm soap rock hard cauliflower . towel in room sill had make up but was changed only two bulbs working in main light footprints on window sill stairs to room full of hair needed a good vacum

"Highly recommended "

We've just had our wedding reception at the nightingale suite and spent the night in the honeymoon suite. An all round excellent day, nothing was too much trouble for the staff amd there was no awkward request that they would not accommodate. The cozy, modern room complete with four poster bed was very impressive and well worth every penny. I'd like to give special mention to Lee, am absolute gent who was with us litteraly all day and who made sure that everything ran like clockwork. The only downside was having to hand the key back. I'm sure we'll be returning soon and often.

"looking a bit tired"

Stayed 3 years ago and it's definitely looking more tired. It is in a beautiful situation with good views but, the bedside lights didn't work, the light above the bathroom mirror didn't work, there was dust on the dressing table and the curtains needed at least double the number of hooks they had. If you were paying £50 this would have been OK but £90 without breakfast meant that it just wasn't worth it

"A "big birthday" party excellently managed."

I booked this venue for a 70th birthday party and was extremely pleased with the way that the hotel dealt with the booking. The hotel is in a really good situation overlooking Rochdale town centre; yet because of the location in a park, you would have thought that you were miles away from one of Lancashire's classic mill towns. The room in which we held the party was pretty well ideal and the service from the staff at the excellent buffet that they had prepared was unobtrusive yet, always there when needed. It's perhaps invidious to single out any particular staff member but I was really impressed with the calmness shown by Lee when it looked like the hotel's CD system couldn't "read" the CDs I'd brought with background music on them. In no time, the problem was solved as he brought a different CD player. So why only a "very good" rating? Well, if I'm honest, the building isn't particularly disabled person-friendly. I guess it must have been built in the 19th Century for someone who'd made his money in cotton; so there's no lift for those of us who were staying overnight on either the 1st or 2nd floor of the hotel. Despite that, a good night seemed to be enjoyed by all who came to the party. Along with a number of guests, I stayed overnight at the hotel and found the facilities in the room I occupied both clean and comfortable.

"Awful Service"

I really don't see the point in spending lots of money putting in a fancy bathroom ( jacquzzi, walk in shower, square toilet) when the water system quite clearly hasn't been upgraded. I ended up taking a cold shower, worked fine for a few minutes then went cold and stayed cold! Both of these problems were reported to the Receptionist (male - no name badge) and were met with a nonchalant attitude. On check out the same receptionist didn't give a reason for these problems, apologise about them or ask what he could have done to make my stay a good one. I was totally disgusted with his whole attitude. The WIFI didn't work - there was a problem with the server.

"One star is one too many"

On a bleak sunday night in February I drove across the M62 and arrived at about 8pm in a wet and obviously closed Rochdale. The guy at reception didn't bother smiling or even greeting me but very quickly told me the restaurant was closed. Not wanting to venture out into what looked like the ultimate bleak terrain I consoled myself with the medjool dates I had in the car and looked forward to breakfast (for which I'd booked and paid.) In the morning I was told there was no cooked breakfast. “There's no chef. He's ‘ad accident and we can't replace him.” Wow! He must be good! I've eaten at some of Gordon Ramsey's restaurants and he hasn't actually been there but they've managed to replace him with someone else who did a pretty good job, but not here. When I asked if it was really not possible for someone to cook breakfast she nodded towards the end of the room and told me I could have ‘continental' which was actually a choice between individual packets of weetabix or alpen, a couple of yoghurts and some very basic sliced bread. By the following morning they'd found someone to replace the irreplaceable chef. The bacon was burnt black, the hash brown was still frozen in the middle, the eggs were hard and the black pudding had been sliced and served on the plate without even being cooked. At checkout I pointed out that no-one had at any time expressed any regret or sympathy or even attempted to apologise, let alone attempt to do the job of a hotel properly and the receptionist didn't apologise either. There are holes in the floor of the room I was in and the plaster on the ceiling in the hall was crumbling so there was a thick pile of plaster dust on the landing window. The receptionist said not using the kitchen equipment was ‘health and safety' but if they're so concerned about health and safety why was there a bloody huge TV attached to the wall so that it towered over the bed and if I'd got out of bed in the dark on the wrong side I'd have split my skull? I asked for the cost of breakfast to be refunded but was told since I'd booked through a third party I'd have to take it up with the general manager. When I pointed out that I'd stayed in many Best Western hotels before and this was so bad it would put me off ever staying at one again she stared at me blankly and said “Okay” and walked away. Obviously the staff here hate their jobs almost as much as they hate their customers and would rather just be at home watching Jeremy Kyle, so please, folks, help them out here: don't even think about staying here. The place will close... the sooner the better.

"Great location, but tired"

Most of the other reviewers have said it all really. The hotel is tired and need of a refurb, but the room I had was clean and perfectly acceptable. I turned up late and they managed to cook me steak and chips which was middle of the road but I have had worse and they served it with a smile. Overall it's not somewhere you want to spend a lot of time but for a quick stop over it was fine.

"Friendly staff "

There's no doubt that this hotel is in need of refurbishment. The rooms are tired with some pretty tatty furnishings. However the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff go some way in compensating for this. Plumbing makes strange noises through the night so probably best to take some ear plugs with you. Clean bedding and adequate breakfast. Overall impression is that it's over priced and in need of updating.

"Good location in quiet part of Rochdale"

Good location in quiet part of Rochdale, ten minutes walk into town, Room warm and clean, friendly staff and a decent breakfast. Free parking. Poor quality wifi in the room I had but good coverage in public areas.

"Tired old hotel in need of love and attention"

The hotel is a large building very conveniently situated for the centre of Rochdale. Unfortunately it looks as if there has been no investment for a long period of time. The decoration is poor and a lot of minor things need attention: the shower in our room was little more than a cold dribble and there was no TV controller. The breakfast menu looked comprehensive but when it arrived it was disappointing and dripping in grease

"Wedding reception "

I had my wedding reception here after getting married abroad. Lovely venue and hotel. All the staff were extremely helpful especially Katie who really is one in a million. A few of our guests travelled and stayed in the hotel over night, everyone was very happy with the hotel and everything it had to offer.

"Tired and room not clean"

Stayed for 1 night the hotel looks very tired , we usually stay at the Royal Toby but it was fully booked . We paid extra for the 4 poster bed room which was expensive at £129 . Check in didn't wow but ok but opening the room door (106) the dust on the table was the 1st thing that hit me. Then we walked in the carpet was dark and covered in white hairs , the bathroom had hairs in also. I reported this and asked it to be cleaned no apology for this. You can cope with a tired hotel if it is clean but this one wasn't . The shower was very old and was freezing we didn't bother with breakfast as worried about the cleanliness . Pick the Royal Toby or the Norton grange if looking for a hotel in Rochdale

"Rochdale town centre"

Not much to do in Rochdale if you don't drive.....The hotel was OK but clearly in need of modernisation. I suspect they are not really bothered as there are no other major hotel chains in the town centre. Lack of competition has clearly made them complacent. The room I had and the location wasn't good value for money not to mention small. There was a draught around head height in bed that was annoying. The free Wi-Fi didn't work-like a lot of hotels they offer free Wi-Fi but it's so slow it's useless-I couldn't get a page to load on FB. I am staying there again soon so I will see if it improves in a different room!!!

"Generally good staff; hotel looking tired"

I stayed here for one night ahead of working in Rochdale the following day. Arriving in the mid to late evening, I was inclined to disbelieve the satnav as it guided me down some small residential streets, but this was, indeed, the correct route! Check-in seemed to take a while and was not always terribly clear, but I was soon up to my room. Opening the door, I was immediately hit by the oppressive heat. I soon found out how to switch off the radiator but, even with the window open, the room remained too warm all night. Some parts of the room were in less than good condition: one of the bedside lights was missing a pull-cord hence did not work. The fan, helpfully provided in case of warm temperatures, did not work, either. The overall feeling in the hotel was one of faded glory. A colleague who regularly stays here, said that she loved staying here because it was like Fawlty Towers! I had a drink in the bar which lacked atmosphere but was well-priced. At breakfast, next morning, I was the only customer. Service was friendly, but there were short-comings in the breakfast. The mushrooms were raw, in places, the fried bread was missing, and the hash browns tasted of oil. Would I stay again? Possibly; it was very handily located both for the work I was doing (ten minutes' drive away) and for the town centre; it was very reasonably priced. To answer my own question, I will look elsewhere when next staying in Rochdale, but would not rule out a return.

"Many thanks for the service"

The hotel itself appears very "tired" in appearance. No lift to the second floor was problematic in that I have difficulty walking at times. Booked a restaurant reservation for dinner but the chef was unavailable due a car accident. Young lady on reception was extremely helpful in assisting me in obtaining a "carry out" from a local restaurant. her detailed knowledge and commitment to customer satisfaction was well appreciated. Staff service over all was excellent.

"would not return..."

This is a mixed review... on the positive side the staff who work at the hotel are lovely! Very friendly and helpful - the best thing about our stay. The hotel itself has a charming facade and is set in a very pretty park - I had a park side view and it was worth it. My friend stayed on the other side with a view of tower blocks which was noisy with the windows open - her window was broken and wouldn't shut properly. We were advised not to walk through the park after dark into town in case we were mugged! Therefore we got taxis all the time for relatively short distances. The fried breakfast was ok, but when I ordered poached eggs on toast, the egg was overcooked and rubbery and it was served on cheap sliced white bread. I paid the same sort of price for this hotel as I usually pay for a four star (this is three star) and the difference in quality was amazing... The decor lacks taste - in desperate need of a makeover. It feels bare and unwelcoming. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and although the food was nicely cooked - I had a steak and the chef came out to check how I liked it and did a good job of it, we were the only people in there and it distinctly lacked atmosphere. My room was basic but bearable. Things I liked - the bed was comfy, it had tea and coffee making facilities and a tv with a good range of channels. The Wi fi was very fast and efficient. Things I didn't like - rough carpet, dated decor, no complementary toiletries - there was shampoo, shower gel, etc. But they were fixed to the wall like an institution! The shower was not very powerful and there was not enough hot water for a decent shower or bath. When I stay in a hotel I want to feel a bit pampered, and stay somewhere nicer than my own home. This was sadly not the case on this occasion. I would not return to this hotel, although I feel it has got the potential to be gorgeous with some investment!

"One night in Rochdale"

This was not my first choice booking but the guest house I previously used was fully booked. I was attending a friend's wedding anniversary nearby so all I needed was a room for the night. I have stayed at Best Western hotels before in the far north of Scotland and felt that they fell short of what I expect. Not so this one in Rochdale, I couldn't ask for any more. I fact I'm struggling to find any fault. As a Christian I was pleased to see a Gideon Bible in the room. If I'm really picky then there is one minor gripe. I tried to catch up on the day's football results on my laptop. Although free internet access was advertised I couldn't get a connection. If I really wanted to I could have asked for assistance but as I was going out it was not a big deal. Had I been staying the full evening then this might have been a bigger issue.

"Christmas birthday treat"

The hotel is a lovely building but the bar could be more welcoming in decor and also the decor in the dining room. Had a drink in the bar but the beer was really flat but the barman did change it for a tin of beer and was really nice about it. Our room, number 106, was a good size with nice up to date decor and a kingsize four poster bed. Good drinks facilities with mugs and biscuits. A good size TV and a small sofa to lounge on. The bathroom was large but didnt really match the nice decor in the bedroom, i felt it was a little dated, but very clean. The radiator was very warm and cudnt be turned down which was a problem for us as we like a cool bedroom, couldnt open the window as the gutter outside our window was leaking an sounded like a waterfall crashing on the pavement below, very annoying and kept us awake part of the night. Went to breakfast to be told they had no eggs as a delivery had not arrived, think they could have forseen this on christmas eve and gone to local asda to get some really. The rest of the breakfast was really nice and served quickly. There was a major powercut which was dealt with nicely by the receptionist who was a lovely girl, no fault of the hotels i might add, as all surrounding area had flooded due to torrential rain in the area. This is a nice Hotel with a couple of issues which impacted on our stay but if you are in the area it is a pleasant place to stay and i was given a discount on our room rate.

"A tad on the gloomy side"

Reception staff were friendly however found the reception area to be quite dark and gloomy. The bedrooms were a bit on th esmall side but did have everything you would require. The dining room was very lacking in any character and the food was lacking in any real appeal if I were to stay again I would be sure to dine elsewhere. This excludes breakfast which was good.

"Nice and close for the town"

A fine looking hotel on the edge of town that stands in a hill overlooking the centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. Although looking a bit dated, the hotel was excellent value and I would recommend the hotel for a short visit.

A little difficult to find but located in a quiet area close to the town centre. The building is pleasantly Victorian outside and in but the rooms could probably benefit from a make-over - a little tired. Nonetheless the bed was extremely comfortable and breakfast was adequate and fresh, if a little unimaginative in the materials on the buffet table.

"Returning Home"

Need to visit family and friends after re-locating to Linconshire very friendly hotel in the centre of Rochdale.Staff very friendly breakfasts were well cooked and with a wide enough verity to suit all........

"Good hotel"

Stayed here for one night arriving late and leaving early, so can't say much about the hotel. Overall impressions are of a lovely hotel set amidst a park in the centre of Rochdale. The hotel is converted from a beautiful large house and so has many nooks and crannies. My room was a large family room, well fitted out with a large en suite. Breakfast was served in the restaurant and there was a cold buffet with a cooked breakfast made to order. Staff were helpful and friendly. If I should ever have to stay in Rochdale again, I would certainly choose this hotel.

The room was very claen, the tv was ideal and the bed could not have been better.I would definately consider staying here again. The whole place gave a feeling of yesteryear, is that romantic, old fashioned maybe, either way it was most desirable for a one night stay.

"nice place"

stopped at the Broadfield Park Hotel in Rochdale, although close to the town centre it felt as though you were miles away. Lovely staff and good service, rooms clean but the hotel could do with a refurb.

"Dated property but clean & comfortable"

My husband & I stayed here with relatives overnight due to attending a wedding at the Town Hall. Chosen for location which was central for our requirements. We were able to check in early. The room was clean & comfortable although in need of modernisation as was the majority of the hotel. Ample parking, pleasant receptionist & staff. Breakfast including juices & cereals as well as cooked to order full english. Pleasant stay in nice area within walking distance (although lots of steps) to the centre.

"Business trip"

very nice hotel that is clean and good decor. The staff are polite and friendly and very helpful. Overall excellent experience. The food was very good both Meal and breakfast. I would recommend this hotel.

worst "Hotel" its horrible, stoney cold, no heating, ignorant staff walking round with ipods plugged in their ears, no heating in the room. I will refuse to stay here ever again! I would rather sleep in the car.

"Grubby Hotel"

Room was dirty, cobwebs and thick dust in corners. Bathroom smelt badly of smoke and toilet seat was disgusting, couldn't move room as hotel was full. Cup rings and dried food stuck to bedside table, so wouldn't ever stay there again!

"Very poor management service"

A work colleague and I stayed at this hotel in Rochdale Monday 5th October 2015. We had been booked in (on a credit card payment made by my work organisation), and when we checked in we were told that the work credit card had been declined. On checking out on 6th October I paid the hotel room bill (£118.00) on my personal credit card. When we were back in London my I raised this with my work, who confirmed there had been no problem with the work credit card, and work spoke to the hotel who confirmed a refund would be made to my credit card. No refund had been made to my credit card by Saturday 10 October, so I rang the hotel to be informed no manager would be available to assist with my enquiry chasing the refund until next Tuesday... 1) Incorrect advice that my work credit card payment had been declined. 2) Slowness to sort out a refund to my personal credit card. 3) Lack of management availability / response to my telephone call.

"Nice hotel"

Stayed here for a wedding food was great all day couldn't fault hotel room was clean and tidy and clean sheets bathroom was neat and tidy as well as the rest of the hotel.staff were friendly and always at hand would stay again. The bar prices were ok and there was a nice park by hotel for wedding pitures.

"Daughters wedding"

Our daughter got married there last weekend,it was a fabulous day, they look after us all and helped to make the day go smooth.with all the contact from tables to dance floor the room looked fab, just what Laura and jake fowler wanted, the rooms are awesome aswell very comfy beds, the breakfast was all fresh, the bridle suit was loverly.

"Family wedding"

Just returned from the Broadfield Park Hotel, after a weekend wedding, Lovely venue for a wedding right by the park for photos, the staff couldn't have been more helpful or hard working, Some staff were still working at 12.30am and then back to serve breakfast by 8.00am on Sunday morning, rooms are clean and tidy we had one with a very large bathroom, The food at breakfast and the wedding was very good, if we were up in Rochdale again we won't think twice about staying at the Broadfield Park

"(Pet Friendly) Brookfield Park Hotel, Rochdale"

This is an excellent hotel within the town centre of Rochdale making it a very convenient base for Manchester owing to it's close proximity to the city's transport links. The hotel offers splendid accommodation which is clean to a high standard and at a competitive rate. Food is good and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is advertised as 'Pet Friendly' and I certainly found this to be the case.

"They go that extra mile for you"

Absolutely amazing staff, they certainly go that extra mile to accommodate their guests. I was at a wedding & carelessly lost my iphone. In the morning I asked at reception if by chance anyone had handed a phone in? Katie on reception asked what phone it was & helped me to track my iphone. She put my phone into lost mode and entered my husbands number. We had only just left the hotel and a girl rang my husbands phone to say she had my phone & gave us her address. Only for Katies quick thinking I would have never got my phone back. All the staff were lovely and the rooms were very nice too. An overall lovely stay and will visit again when going out in Rochdale.
