    « Loved it! »

We stayed here 19/11/16 for a night. We paid for half board with a double room. Which was a great price! Upon arrival we were quickly checked in and went to find our room. Lovely character hotel and clean in all areas. The room was spacious, very nicely presented and comfortable. We ate in the bar area where we could choose from the menu. The lady on reception went out of her way for us and brought our drinks to our table and took our food orders. The food came quick even though they were busy with a large function. The portions were good and it was well worth the money, then we had a dessert and a cheese board and this plus the drinks were all covered by the half board allowance! The hotel was very quiet we never heard a peep from other guests. We slept very well. Breakfast is amazing. The same staff were working In The morning who served us the night before yet they still had smiles for us and worked efficiently. Continental breakfast items, fruit, yogurt, cereal and again choice from the menu of full English and other items such as pancakes, Egg benedict etc. All cooked fresh to order. Juice and tea and coffee available. We really enjoyed it and the food was a real bonus. We would definitely return. Thank you for a lovely stay! :-)

    « Based on a one night stay .... »

This is an old building with some history. It's that time of year when one arrives in the dark and unfortunately I had to leave in the dark so I missed the stained glass window. My room was small but cosy . I found the dining room to be rather stark and boxy, so ate in the bar area which was a nicer room. The menu was not really my kind of stuff but that's just me, I settled on a chicken burger. The staff appear to multitask , and do a grand job. I had to leave before breakfast so missed out ! In conclusion, it was nice to stay in an older building rather than the standard hotel box room .

    « Great place! »

We went to a Suprise 70th birthday party here and stayed over to save travelling back home that night. What a fabulous time we had, and the rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable. The breakfast next morning was really nice, with lots of choices! Service was amazing, and all the staff were so helpful and obliging, felt as if we were staying with family! Lovely place, would highly recommend.

    « Tired Looking Rooms »

We stayed here using our Tesco vouchers, which we trebled up. The double room with breakfast was supposidly £91 per night. The room was in need of a complete makeover & I must say that we have stayed in hotels half this price that were a lot better. Breakfast was good, with plenty of selection. The hotel is within easy walking distance from town. Overall the place needs a complete renovation & is not worth the money.

    « A Good, Reasonably Priced Hotel »

Stayed here whilst in the area on business with a colleague. A well placed, good value hotel with friendly staff and comfortable, clean rooms. Nice choice of breakfast items, including a full English Breakfast.

    « Beautiful architecture »

Firstly, having read some of the reviews I wasn't sure of what awaited us on our VERY late arrival at the start of our 2 night stay. 5 adults and three rooms later, I can say that all of the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast for us was very good with a selection of fruit/cereals/full English on the menu. The staff were exceptionally helpful in regards to directing us on the best places to eat as a family and also very patient on our arrival at 11.30pm organising us quickly and efficiently. This hotel IS old and almost 'churchy' inside but as it sits so magnificently next to a beautiful old church and in such a historic town that it adds to its character and yes it does need money spending on it but I would still defiantly recommend this place to stay.

« Nice stay shame about the fire alarm »

I recently stayed here and found it really nice. The food was good ,the staff were very nice as was the accommodation. But a very loud false fire alarm going off in the early hours really spoilt the night sleep , and it left me feeling very tired the next day.

    « Overnight stay »

Beyond belief Dirty room buckets on breakfast table - for leak ? Sticky dirty tables in bar Drab and horrible Meal at night average and dry Breakfast 2 cereal types, no butter on table -not good Needs money spending on the infrastructure light in room didn't work 1 inch of dust on top of wardrobe carpets filthy

« Lovely staff make this a great stay. »

This hotel is quite a lot more than you pay for. Now, to the negative reviews - remember this is a budget hotel. The staff of this hotel make it what it is, they are all absolutely lovely. From reception (who seem to do more than that) - who always say hello and help, to the barmen who chat to anyone about anything, to the housekeeping that are just so incredibly helpful. I stayed with a cat for about 2 weeks. They were really wonderful. I always wanted more milk or this or that and they always accommodated me. The breakfast is what you expect for a cold continental and then you can order hot if you like. I had the poached eggs and they were done well. The meals at night - tried the burger, soup and fish/chips - all were fine, more so the burger. The hotel is located near the train station, right near an asda and not too far from a mall. I doubt I will need to stay here again, but if I did I would. They made the transition from London to Manchester very smooth.

    « amazing chef »

Chef is extremely helpful. The staff went out of their way to do things during my stay which they didn't have to do. i was scared at first when reading previous negative reviews but it is not true at all!

    « Wedding Reception »

Great location rooms are being upgraded all the time compared to our last stay in Nov 2014 100% better. The receptionist Leanne was brilliant nothing was too much trouble. The manager John was so professional any time I had any concern whatever time of day I could ring him or e-mail him and he returned my call the very next day at the very latest. We had booked a wedding reception for 160 people and there was more than enough room in the function room. The hot and cold buffet was faultless service was excellent. We asked for more chairs and they appeared. Nothing was too much trouble we recommend using this as a wedding venue

    « Very poor hotel »

On arrival we where warmly greeted the staff where very nice, it all went down hill from there, there was 3 of us staying and all the rooms had problems , shower not working properly, taps falling off, dirty cups, noisy fans, and breakfast was poor, the place needs some TLC, there was a 24 hour bar and complimentary fast Wi-Fi, if only they could get it sorted.

« Nice base for visiting the area »

I visited Rochdale which is not the usual tourist spot, however I wanted to stay close to where my family resided before the known generations left and this was in situe in that time. As a female sole visitor I felt perfectly safe in the hotel and found it an ideal base for my visits to touchstones (for the archives). I also visited various points of interest to myself in relation to the history of Rochdale. My room was clean whilst compact and the bed was comfortable. I stayed for 4 nights and the room was tended to daily. The staff were pleasant enough though I had little contact bar check in/out. The stained glass window is beautiful and a nice retained touch of the original house. From the hotel it is only a short walk into the town centre. I will stay here again on future visits.

    « Disapointed »

Room, Very Clean. bed really comfortable. Top floor, No lift. Shower intermittent (Water cuts off or runs out occasionally). Extractor in bathroom not working. Walls very thin and could hear Everything in next rooms bathroom (Based on room 203) Staff really nice and helpful. Good parking. Restaurant had very loud Jazz music playing (Radio 2) making conversation difficult. Staff turned volume down as soon as asked to. The meal ordered was Sirloin Steak that was not sirloin, more likely a thinly cut piece of Brisket or other cut of beef (overcooked). Chips were more like wood chips than potato chips they were that overcooked. Peas were what appeared to be a dollop of tinned mushy peas (maybe chefs night off?). We left the meal unfinished and went to Asda and bought sandwiches. We were however not charged for the meal. I have stayed in several hotels nearby that were a lot cheaper and considerably better value for money.

    « Stay away »

Disgusting dirty and no management skills at all! Just stay away from it basically! ?? I wouldn't stay here if somebody paid me! The whole place needs money spending on it and time to employ the correct line of staff not just anybody off the street!

    « Filthy »

My partner booked us here for a birthday night away, checked in by the most impolite receptionist ever and then things went from bad to worse. Walked into what I can only describe as a large cupboard off the landing. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while and even found hairs in the bed so went back down the steep stairs to reception and asked for another room, we where allocated one straight away but after walking into an even dirtier room we gave up and decided we wouldn't be staying there. After asking for a refund the "lovely" receptionist had the cheek to ask us if we had used the room in anyway !! How they have been given any awards is beyond me and how they can charge £75 for a broom cupboard that has obviously never seen a broom is absolutely disgusting, more like worst western

    « A good venue for function »

We booked the function room to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Our party was about 100 and the room is able to accommodate this number. The location is good - easy access to town centre. Customer service was excellent - thank you John and your team. The food was good but some confusion about what "Gluten free" is and cross contamination. Nothing was too much trouble for the team and any requests were address quickly. Was expecting to be billed for additional beverages (tea/coffee) but this waved which was appreciated. My only criticism of the venue is overall its very tired - its in serious need of updating. Also some attention to housekeeping (the windows need a good clean and table/sideboard/desks tops need polishing/dusting - looked like this hadn't been done for a while and then with a damp cloth).

    « Great value »

The hotel is a little dated but the staff and service are excellent. We checked in a lot later than planned and missed dinner/room service but reception were very helpful and suggested some local places to eat and order from. The rooms were simple but spacious enough and had everything we needed. All the staff we encountered were friendly and polite.

    « Interview »

I attended an interview at the broadfield park hotel on Thursday morning and though I didn't spend the night I wanted to praise the excellent staff that worked there. All the staff where extremely pleasant and nothing was too much for any of them, particularly the young girl on reception, she went out of her way to make me and the other interviewees plus my wife feel comfortable, making several cups of coffees and pots of tea and wishing us luck as we went into the interview. On leaving she recommended a beautiful place for us to go for lunch along with showing us the place on the PC she then gave us the postcode. Couldn't ask for better customer service, if I was ever in the Rochdale area again I would definitely stay at the broadfield park hotel.

    « Wedding reception »

We went here for my best friends wedding reception and was very disappointed by how dirty the place was, even more how badly the bar was run having to wait half hour every time for a drink, the breakfast the next morning was ok but guest had to wait to get a table because the room wasn't big enough. The room was ok and bed was comfy so I gave them 2 stars for this.

    « Overnight stay »

Went to Rochdale for the Feelgood Festival and booked a night here to save on taxis. Did the same last year. The room we were initially allocated hadn't been cleaned but they quickly gave us another room. Absolutely spotless. Free wifi and brew making facilities. They gave us a jug of extra milk no problem at all when we had used just the 4 cartons they leave you. Didn't have any meals so can't comment on the food but staff are friendly and will probably book again next year.

    « Great for price »

Lovely building, very clean nice rooms. Nice location on edge of the park. Staff were great and very helpful. Reception and stairways dated and could do with modernising. £55 for the night was great value I thought.

« Pleasant enough friendly, bit tired needs makeover »

Stayed here Tuesday evening nice location next to park and easy walk into town, few pubs, large Asda etc ample parking. My room felt like a room from sitcom favourite Faulty towers lots of creaky wooden furniture. No maps, local information in room , just the 1970s menu scampi, fish, steak etc I opted for scampi was basically a huge bag of frozen value tiny scampi deep fried and shovelled on plate like a pile of chicken nuggets to crunch through, I opted for salad rather than the routine chips and peas, she seemed little surprised at that. Very small bar with Tv shuts at midnight, pleasant staff but for Best Western is surely their portfolio Faulty Towers. Clean.

    « Tired hotel »

We stayed here for only one night. Afternoon Receptionist very helpful ordering taxis for us for later that evening and no issues with check in. As you walk through the hotel you can see that it is very tired looking and does need money spending on it. The room we booked was a double it was very very small I would have classed it as a small single never a double. It faced the back of the hotel no real outlook, the main window wouldn't open just the tiny top one we did find the small fan in the wardrobe but we couldn't sleep when the fan was on due to the noise, we couldn't sleep due to the stuffiness and heat in the room. Not a good night at all. The bathroom was functional. Only one bedside lamp.

« Ok for one night »

It's an old building that needs updating but my room was ok. Slept well.Kept window open all night. It was ok as an emergency place to stay with less than 24 hours notice - if I had more time and the kids were not off school I would have done some more looking.

    « A very pleasant stay »

reading previous reviews would have put me off but for this hotel being the most convenient for a local function. DO NOT be put off by the negative reviews, yes the hotel is an old building but that is part of its charm. Our room was lovely, spacious, spotlessly clean, well equipped bathroom. Concessions tray had everything required, really comfortable bed and a peaceful view of the park. It was relatively quiet. The breakfast was fantastic. We stayed with a large group of friends who all agreed. We had a full English and eggs benedict both perfectly cooked and served quickly by an attentive and friendly waitress. In fact every staff member we came across were faultless, polite and helpful, from a smooth check in, they ordered us a taxi, the night receptionist sorted out a very minor issue with our key cards very efficiently, to the smiling waitresses and morning reception staff. There are some stairs and I didn't see a lift, but we didn't find this an issue at all. Plenty of private parking. They opened the bar on our arrival back at 2 in the morning for us. The shutters were down but they didn't hesitate to accommodate us. If you want an ultra modern high tech experience then this is not the hotel for you but if you want a peaceful relaxing stay in an historic building with a pleasant atmosphere all round then I would recommend this hotel.

    « Characterful Hotel »

My room was big, with a huge en-suite. Controls for the shower were outside the shower which was odd and made for a wet floor. Presume it's something to do with the position of the plumbing in that room. Wasn't bothered about it having a four poster bed, though it was comfortable. The room was too warm (couldn't see to turn off the radiators) though it was an okay temperature during the night. Nice view over the park, and very handy for walking into Rochdale. Bear in mind that there's a very steep hill between the hotel and the town centre. There's an Asda that's about a 5 minute walk through the park (quicker than driving). Breakfast was good. Parking appeared to be ample - I got there early and had the choice of the whole car park. Was packed by 9pm. There are spaces outside on the road, though I'm not sure I'd want to park my car there. Hotel is a little tired but not too worn. I would stay here again.

    « A little bit Fawlty Towers »

Following our wedding reception in Rochdale Town Hall most of the guests stayed here. Despite the fact that they knew a large party was staying, no additional staff were laid on, breakfast on the day following the wedding was served by one overworked, and stressed chap, struggling to cope on his own, while guests who stayed the previous night regaled us with stories of breakfast from the morning of the wedding, including the chef having a blazing row with the waiting staff and throwing all the eggs at them. We had the honeymoon suite, which had clearly been refurbished recently, and it looked lovely, but we discovered it was a case of style over substance, the expensive top of the range bathroom couldn't be used because there was no hot water, not even enough to fill a sink. The staff were helpful and kind, I think trying to do their best in difficult circumstances.

« Most staff friendly but service not great and hotel was worn »

Stayed here for business in June 2016 - the hotel itself is worn and in need of a refurb. I had two different rooms over two weeks. The second week the room was tiny and in the attic - while this was no major issue for myself it may travelling alone it would be for a couple as space was limited. It was also obvious that cleaning had little attention paid (A drinking straw was on the floor the whole week and the floor did not look like it had seen a hoover for several months). The majority of staff were friendly but were not very adapt at hotel / catering service. For example I was asked what I wanted for breakfast and my colleague was ignored. I don't for one minute think this was ignorance as such but purely lack of training / common sense around working in such a business. I dont often review or complain, but I would not stay at the Broadfield Park again.

« The good bits cannot hide the large flaws »

Good bits was my room was comfortable, it had a quality TV and well decorated bedroom plus the reasonable bar prices is were Good stopped. So here we go for what needs improving, my bathroom sink was so small it was useless, the room (121) backed on to a flooded flat roof caused by a combination of broken down pipe and blocked drain. The noise was a loud splashing like a waterfall, what else needs repairing ??? The overall hotel building is impressive but it needs thousands spent on updating, public areas are very tired, the bar looked like it belonged to a church hall, the restaurant was empty and was very uninviting. The five other guests were in the bar which meant the barman was constantly walking to and from the kitchen bringing food, which made me think they have no staff. It's as if they planned poor service. The location is ok, but I wouldn't walk around as driving in was through a ghetto and was truly dreadful. I did get a little lost and drove around Rochdale which is THE most ugly, depressed, festering sore of a place I have ever seen. I need to be paid a lot to come back.

    « Tired and unloved »

A sad place, this was no doubt once an elegant residence. Time has moved on and the hotel is crying out for love and investment. The staff at breakfast are the strong point. However self service toasters demand a set of tongs to pick up bread. Watching customer after customer sort through bread slices by hand is just not acceptable today. Breakfast was freshly cooked and good but the alleged buffet is again just not good enough. No fresh fruit or cereal other than kiddy choices just doesn't cut it. No lift so rooms on the second floor up a narrow staircase are a challenge. Reception achieves Fawlty Towers levels of indifference but without the charm. If it's unmanned you are invited to use the phone, don't expect an answer.

« worthy of their AA 3 star and would stay again with privso »

We specifically had requested a quite room unfortunately that was missed and the wedding DJ started up . our room was next door. We were offered to change rooms to be fair . This offer vindicated themselves and it is important to be acting immediately and positively. Ok so not our best experience, but we would stay again but perhaps check which room and what functions were on . Yes it is an old hotel with some character if you look closely - loved the stain glass window!. Some folk suggested it is modernised but you have to look at the market. It does not pretend to be an AA four star. Staff in uniform would be nice or some identifier at least of who is who would be useful. It is about 10 years since we were last in the hotel for a meal and we were pleased to refund it for accommodation. Parking fine , breakfast in our case was complimentary with a good selection of continental with a basic full english was cooked well . Yes we would stay again ideal for town centre! ESPECIALLY LIKED THE COMFORTABLE BED!!! ( good sleep time that I appreciated)

    « Brilliant »

Had my wedding here yesterday I cannot express how happy I am with the staff at the hotel they went above and beyond to make our stay perfect ?? would stay here again and highly recommend. Everyone was so friendly made me and my new wife feel welcome all my guests commented on how nice and friendly the staff/hotel was Thank you again Gavin and Nikita Glasgow xxx

    « Enjoyable stay »

A nice, relaxing hotel to stay in. Not your trendy accommodation, however this makes your stay better as it is like stepping back in time to a generation that we shall unfortunately never see again. I shall stay here again when in the area. Thanks to all the staff

    « Iwould stay again »

Nicely situated to all amenities, friendly staff. Tired décor but clean and value for money. I will stay again as convenient for visiting my family. A lovely old building set in nice gardens and surrounded by a park yet within walking distance to the town centre and railway station. In fact I think its the only hotel to allow the family pet dog to stay within the immediate area so top marks for this.

« Best Western Marie Celeste »

This hotel should be renamed - "Best Western Marie Celeste" there's barely any staff. - No one at check in - No one in restaurant - No one in bar - No one at breakfast It's a very strange hotel. It's a great old building but it needs a lot of refurbishing. I also find it odd that the few staff they actually employ have no uniform. So you don't actually know who is a guest or a member of staff. The breakfasts and dinner I had were substandard. I was charged £96 for my 'executive room' which was tiny and bar some new wallpaper it was in a time warp. Unless you can get a room here for under £40, I'd avoid it.

« Needs Updated and Review of Service & Costs »

Had issues with Quality of Room and Breakfast. Staff Helpful enough, however. It was mainly clean, but not 100%, faulty Heating Thermostats, Noisy Rooms that are outdated. Found the condition of the room and facilities did not match the cost.

« Ok but just ok »

We stayed bank holiday weekend, the room looked clean but it hadn't been hoovered. We paid the extra £8 for breakfast and if I was to do it again I don't think I'd bother, it was small and service wasn't great, had to ask for tea, juice and bread for the toaster. Save the £8 each and go to Regal moon for breakfast.

    « Wouldn't stay again »

Checked in late, couldnt get a key and was informed the wrong time for both checkout and breakfast. Was also charged again for a room I had prepaid with The hotel itsself it dated and really not great. Both members of staff i interacted with were friendly tho. Hotel was very stuffy and hot

    « Did the job! »

We stayed here recently as we were attending a local Wedding and needed somewhere to stay overnight. The hotel was fine, the staff were fine, the room was fine...a little weathered and wouldn't stay for any longer than what we did! But it was fine!

« Great location, Rooms and staff not great. »

We've stayed here three or four times now as a friend puts gigs on in Rochdale. It used to be nice but rooms now need a major overhaul. Room tiny and dirty. Complained and non apologetic reception said they were full but would have room cleaned again whilst we were out. Fixtures and fittings in bathroom including taps insecure. On checkout a different receptionist was curt, unsmiling and generally had bad attitude. Hate giving negative reviews but this was my experience on that weekend.

« Service warmer than the meal!! »

We spent the evening at the hotel to celebrate a colleagues retirement. We have attended other functions at this venue and have found the food more than acceptable but on this occasion it was well below average and at a £23/head price we expected much better. All of the food hovered between lukewarm and cold. The soup was tasteless and the vegetables that accompanied the slither of beef were rock hard. The service level far exceeded the standard of the meal and on that basis we couldn't recommend this venue to anyone looking for a similar event.

    « Retirement Party »

I hosted my fathers retirement party at the hotel and was extremely disappointed with both the service and the food that was served. The soup that was served was cold and tasteless and in fact most guests didn't even know what flavour it was. The main meal which was beef was also cold. The vegetables were hard, the potatoes were charcoal and the gravy was like dishwater! To say I was embarrassed and disappointed would be an understatement. I have complained to the manager and have been informed that the food was served to standard which I find completely unbelievable! Having held my wedding at the hotel 4 years ago I cannot believe the decline in the quality and service.

    « works do »

very poor food , flat yorkshire puddings luke warm soap rock hard cauliflower . towel in room sill had make up but was changed only two bulbs working in main light footprints on window sill stairs to room full of hair needed a good vacum

    « Highly recommended »

We've just had our wedding reception at the nightingale suite and spent the night in the honeymoon suite. An all round excellent day, nothing was too much trouble for the staff amd there was no awkward request that they would not accommodate. The cozy, modern room complete with four poster bed was very impressive and well worth every penny. I'd like to give special mention to Lee, am absolute gent who was with us litteraly all day and who made sure that everything ran like clockwork. The only downside was having to hand the key back. I'm sure we'll be returning soon and often.

    « looking a bit tired »

Stayed 3 years ago and it's definitely looking more tired. It is in a beautiful situation with good views but, the bedside lights didn't work, the light above the bathroom mirror didn't work, there was dust on the dressing table and the curtains needed at least double the number of hooks they had. If you were paying £50 this would have been OK but £90 without breakfast meant that it just wasn't worth it

« A "big birthday" party excellently managed. »

I booked this venue for a 70th birthday party and was extremely pleased with the way that the hotel dealt with the booking. The hotel is in a really good situation overlooking Rochdale town centre; yet because of the location in a park, you would have thought that you were miles away from one of Lancashire's classic mill towns. The room in which we held the party was pretty well ideal and the service from the staff at the excellent buffet that they had prepared was unobtrusive yet, always there when needed. It's perhaps invidious to single out any particular staff member but I was really impressed with the calmness shown by Lee when it looked like the hotel's CD system couldn't "read" the CDs I'd brought with background music on them. In no time, the problem was solved as he brought a different CD player. So why only a "very good" rating? Well, if I'm honest, the building isn't particularly disabled person-friendly. I guess it must have been built in the 19th Century for someone who'd made his money in cotton; so there's no lift for those of us who were staying overnight on either the 1st or 2nd floor of the hotel. Despite that, a good night seemed to be enjoyed by all who came to the party. Along with a number of guests, I stayed overnight at the hotel and found the facilities in the room I occupied both clean and comfortable.

    « Awful Service »

I really don't see the point in spending lots of money putting in a fancy bathroom ( jacquzzi, walk in shower, square toilet) when the water system quite clearly hasn't been upgraded. I ended up taking a cold shower, worked fine for a few minutes then went cold and stayed cold! Both of these problems were reported to the Receptionist (male - no name badge) and were met with a nonchalant attitude. On check out the same receptionist didn't give a reason for these problems, apologise about them or ask what he could have done to make my stay a good one. I was totally disgusted with his whole attitude. The WIFI didn't work - there was a problem with the server.

« One star is one too many »

On a bleak sunday night in February I drove across the M62 and arrived at about 8pm in a wet and obviously closed Rochdale. The guy at reception didn't bother smiling or even greeting me but very quickly told me the restaurant was closed. Not wanting to venture out into what looked like the ultimate bleak terrain I consoled myself with the medjool dates I had in the car and looked forward to breakfast (for which I'd booked and paid.) In the morning I was told there was no cooked breakfast. ?There's no chef. He's ?ad accident and we can't replace him.? Wow! He must be good! I've eaten at some of Gordon Ramsey's restaurants and he hasn't actually been there but they've managed to replace him with someone else who did a pretty good job, but not here. When I asked if it was really not possible for someone to cook breakfast she nodded towards the end of the room and told me I could have ?continental' which was actually a choice between individual packets of weetabix or alpen, a couple of yoghurts and some very basic sliced bread. By the following morning they'd found someone to replace the irreplaceable chef. The bacon was burnt black, the hash brown was still frozen in the middle, the eggs were hard and the black pudding had been sliced and served on the plate without even being cooked. At checkout I pointed out that no-one had at any time expressed any regret or sympathy or even attempted to apologise, let alone attempt to do the job of a hotel properly and the receptionist didn't apologise either. There are holes in the floor of the room I was in and the plaster on the ceiling in the hall was crumbling so there was a thick pile of plaster dust on the landing window. The receptionist said not using the kitchen equipment was ?health and safety' but if they're so concerned about health and safety why was there a bloody huge TV attached to the wall so that it towered over the bed and if I'd got out of bed in the dark on the wrong side I'd have split my skull? I asked for the cost of breakfast to be refunded but was told since I'd booked through a third party I'd have to take it up with the general manager. When I pointed out that I'd stayed in many Best Western hotels before and this was so bad it would put me off ever staying at one again she stared at me blankly and said ?Okay? and walked away. Obviously the staff here hate their jobs almost as much as they hate their customers and would rather just be at home watching Jeremy Kyle, so please, folks, help them out here: don't even think about staying here. The place will close... the sooner the better.

« Great location, but tired »

Most of the other reviewers have said it all really. The hotel is tired and need of a refurb, but the room I had was clean and perfectly acceptable. I turned up late and they managed to cook me steak and chips which was middle of the road but I have had worse and they served it with a smile. Overall it's not somewhere you want to spend a lot of time but for a quick stop over it was fine.

    « Friendly staff »

There's no doubt that this hotel is in need of refurbishment. The rooms are tired with some pretty tatty furnishings. However the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff go some way in compensating for this. Plumbing makes strange noises through the night so probably best to take some ear plugs with you. Clean bedding and adequate breakfast. Overall impression is that it's over priced and in need of updating.

« Good location in quiet part of Rochdale »

Good location in quiet part of Rochdale, ten minutes walk into town, Room warm and clean, friendly staff and a decent breakfast. Free parking. Poor quality wifi in the room I had but good coverage in public areas.

« Tired old hotel in need of love and attention »

The hotel is a large building very conveniently situated for the centre of Rochdale. Unfortunately it looks as if there has been no investment for a long period of time. The decoration is poor and a lot of minor things need attention: the shower in our room was little more than a cold dribble and there was no TV controller. The breakfast menu looked comprehensive but when it arrived it was disappointing and dripping in grease

    « Wedding reception »

I had my wedding reception here after getting married abroad. Lovely venue and hotel. All the staff were extremely helpful especially Katie who really is one in a million. A few of our guests travelled and stayed in the hotel over night, everyone was very happy with the hotel and everything it had to offer.

« Tired and room not clean »

Stayed for 1 night the hotel looks very tired , we usually stay at the Royal Toby but it was fully booked . We paid extra for the 4 poster bed room which was expensive at £129 . Check in didn't wow but ok but opening the room door (106) the dust on the table was the 1st thing that hit me. Then we walked in the carpet was dark and covered in white hairs , the bathroom had hairs in also. I reported this and asked it to be cleaned no apology for this. You can cope with a tired hotel if it is clean but this one wasn't . The shower was very old and was freezing we didn't bother with breakfast as worried about the cleanliness . Pick the Royal Toby or the Norton grange if looking for a hotel in Rochdale

    « Rochdale town centre »

Not much to do in Rochdale if you don't drive.....The hotel was OK but clearly in need of modernisation. I suspect they are not really bothered as there are no other major hotel chains in the town centre. Lack of competition has clearly made them complacent. The room I had and the location wasn't good value for money not to mention small. There was a draught around head height in bed that was annoying. The free Wi-Fi didn't work-like a lot of hotels they offer free Wi-Fi but it's so slow it's useless-I couldn't get a page to load on FB. I am staying there again soon so I will see if it improves in a different room!!!

« Generally good staff; hotel looking tired »

I stayed here for one night ahead of working in Rochdale the following day. Arriving in the mid to late evening, I was inclined to disbelieve the satnav as it guided me down some small residential streets, but this was, indeed, the correct route! Check-in seemed to take a while and was not always terribly clear, but I was soon up to my room. Opening the door, I was immediately hit by the oppressive heat. I soon found out how to switch off the radiator but, even with the window open, the room remained too warm all night. Some parts of the room were in less than good condition: one of the bedside lights was missing a pull-cord hence did not work. The fan, helpfully provided in case of warm temperatures, did not work, either. The overall feeling in the hotel was one of faded glory. A colleague who regularly stays here, said that she loved staying here because it was like Fawlty Towers! I had a drink in the bar which lacked atmosphere but was well-priced. At breakfast, next morning, I was the only customer. Service was friendly, but there were short-comings in the breakfast. The mushrooms were raw, in places, the fried bread was missing, and the hash browns tasted of oil. Would I stay again? Possibly; it was very handily located both for the work I was doing (ten minutes' drive away) and for the town centre; it was very reasonably priced. To answer my own question, I will look elsewhere when next staying in Rochdale, but would not rule out a return.

« Many thanks for the service »

The hotel itself appears very "tired" in appearance. No lift to the second floor was problematic in that I have difficulty walking at times. Booked a restaurant reservation for dinner but the chef was unavailable due a car accident. Young lady on reception was extremely helpful in assisting me in obtaining a "carry out" from a local restaurant. her detailed knowledge and commitment to customer satisfaction was well appreciated. Staff service over all was excellent.

    « would not return... »

This is a mixed review... on the positive side the staff who work at the hotel are lovely! Very friendly and helpful - the best thing about our stay. The hotel itself has a charming facade and is set in a very pretty park - I had a park side view and it was worth it. My friend stayed on the other side with a view of tower blocks which was noisy with the windows open - her window was broken and wouldn't shut properly. We were advised not to walk through the park after dark into town in case we were mugged! Therefore we got taxis all the time for relatively short distances. The fried breakfast was ok, but when I ordered poached eggs on toast, the egg was overcooked and rubbery and it was served on cheap sliced white bread. I paid the same sort of price for this hotel as I usually pay for a four star (this is three star) and the difference in quality was amazing... The decor lacks taste - in desperate need of a makeover. It feels bare and unwelcoming. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and although the food was nicely cooked - I had a steak and the chef came out to check how I liked it and did a good job of it, we were the only people in there and it distinctly lacked atmosphere. My room was basic but bearable. Things I liked - the bed was comfy, it had tea and coffee making facilities and a tv with a good range of channels. The Wi fi was very fast and efficient. Things I didn't like - rough carpet, dated decor, no complementary toiletries - there was shampoo, shower gel, etc. But they were fixed to the wall like an institution! The shower was not very powerful and there was not enough hot water for a decent shower or bath. When I stay in a hotel I want to feel a bit pampered, and stay somewhere nicer than my own home. This was sadly not the case on this occasion. I would not return to this hotel, although I feel it has got the potential to be gorgeous with some investment!

« One night in Rochdale »

This was not my first choice booking but the guest house I previously used was fully booked. I was attending a friend's wedding anniversary nearby so all I needed was a room for the night. I have stayed at Best Western hotels before in the far north of Scotland and felt that they fell short of what I expect. Not so this one in Rochdale, I couldn't ask for any more. I fact I'm struggling to find any fault. As a Christian I was pleased to see a Gideon Bible in the room. If I'm really picky then there is one minor gripe. I tried to catch up on the day's football results on my laptop. Although free internet access was advertised I couldn't get a connection. If I really wanted to I could have asked for assistance but as I was going out it was not a big deal. Had I been staying the full evening then this might have been a bigger issue.

    « Christmas birthday treat »

The hotel is a lovely building but the bar could be more welcoming in decor and also the decor in the dining room. Had a drink in the bar but the beer was really flat but the barman did change it for a tin of beer and was really nice about it. Our room, number 106, was a good size with nice up to date decor and a kingsize four poster bed. Good drinks facilities with mugs and biscuits. A good size TV and a small sofa to lounge on. The bathroom was large but didnt really match the nice decor in the bedroom, i felt it was a little dated, but very clean. The radiator was very warm and cudnt be turned down which was a problem for us as we like a cool bedroom, couldnt open the window as the gutter outside our window was leaking an sounded like a waterfall crashing on the pavement below, very annoying and kept us awake part of the night. Went to breakfast to be told they had no eggs as a delivery had not arrived, think they could have forseen this on christmas eve and gone to local asda to get some really. The rest of the breakfast was really nice and served quickly. There was a major powercut which was dealt with nicely by the receptionist who was a lovely girl, no fault of the hotels i might add, as all surrounding area had flooded due to torrential rain in the area. This is a nice Hotel with a couple of issues which impacted on our stay but if you are in the area it is a pleasant place to stay and i was given a discount on our room rate.

« A tad on the gloomy side »

Reception staff were friendly however found the reception area to be quite dark and gloomy. The bedrooms were a bit on th esmall side but did have everything you would require. The dining room was very lacking in any character and the food was lacking in any real appeal if I were to stay again I would be sure to dine elsewhere. This excludes breakfast which was good.

« Nice and close for the town »

A fine looking hotel on the edge of town that stands in a hill overlooking the centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. Although looking a bit dated, the hotel was excellent value and I would recommend the hotel for a short visit.

A little difficult to find but located in a quiet area close to the town centre. The building is pleasantly Victorian outside and in but the rooms could probably benefit from a make-over - a little tired. Nonetheless the bed was extremely comfortable and breakfast was adequate and fresh, if a little unimaginative in the materials on the buffet table.

    « Returning Home »

Need to visit family and friends after re-locating to Linconshire very friendly hotel in the centre of Rochdale.Staff very friendly breakfasts were well cooked and with a wide enough verity to suit all........

    « Good hotel »

Stayed here for one night arriving late and leaving early, so can't say much about the hotel. Overall impressions are of a lovely hotel set amidst a park in the centre of Rochdale. The hotel is converted from a beautiful large house and so has many nooks and crannies. My room was a large family room, well fitted out with a large en suite. Breakfast was served in the restaurant and there was a cold buffet with a cooked breakfast made to order. Staff were helpful and friendly. If I should ever have to stay in Rochdale again, I would certainly choose this hotel.

The room was very claen, the tv was ideal and the bed could not have been better.I would definately consider staying here again. The whole place gave a feeling of yesteryear, is that romantic, old fashioned maybe, either way it was most desirable for a one night stay.

    « nice place »

stopped at the Broadfield Park Hotel in Rochdale, although close to the town centre it felt as though you were miles away. Lovely staff and good service, rooms clean but the hotel could do with a refurb.

« Dated property but clean & comfortable »

My husband & I stayed here with relatives overnight due to attending a wedding at the Town Hall. Chosen for location which was central for our requirements. We were able to check in early. The room was clean & comfortable although in need of modernisation as was the majority of the hotel. Ample parking, pleasant receptionist & staff. Breakfast including juices & cereals as well as cooked to order full english. Pleasant stay in nice area within walking distance (although lots of steps) to the centre.

    « Business trip »

very nice hotel that is clean and good decor. The staff are polite and friendly and very helpful. Overall excellent experience. The food was very good both Meal and breakfast. I would recommend this hotel.

    « Business »

worst "Hotel" its horrible, stoney cold, no heating, ignorant staff walking round with ipods plugged in their ears, no heating in the room. I will refuse to stay here ever again! I would rather sleep in the car.

    « Grubby Hotel »

Room was dirty, cobwebs and thick dust in corners. Bathroom smelt badly of smoke and toilet seat was disgusting, couldn't move room as hotel was full. Cup rings and dried food stuck to bedside table, so wouldn't ever stay there again!

« Very poor management service »

A work colleague and I stayed at this hotel in Rochdale Monday 5th October 2015. We had been booked in (on a credit card payment made by my work organisation), and when we checked in we were told that the work credit card had been declined. On checking out on 6th October I paid the hotel room bill (£118.00) on my personal credit card. When we were back in London my I raised this with my work, who confirmed there had been no problem with the work credit card, and work spoke to the hotel who confirmed a refund would be made to my credit card. No refund had been made to my credit card by Saturday 10 October, so I rang the hotel to be informed no manager would be available to assist with my enquiry chasing the refund until next Tuesday... 1) Incorrect advice that my work credit card payment had been declined. 2) Slowness to sort out a refund to my personal credit card. 3) Lack of management availability / response to my telephone call.

    « Nice hotel »

Stayed here for a wedding food was great all day couldn't fault hotel room was clean and tidy and clean sheets bathroom was neat and tidy as well as the rest of the hotel.staff were friendly and always at hand would stay again. The bar prices were ok and there was a nice park by hotel for wedding pitures.

    « Daughters wedding »

    « Family wedding »

Just returned from the Broadfield Park Hotel, after a weekend wedding, Lovely venue for a wedding right by the park for photos, the staff couldn't have been more helpful or hard working, Some staff were still working at 12.30am and then back to serve breakfast by 8.00am on Sunday morning, rooms are clean and tidy we had one with a very large bathroom, The food at breakfast and the wedding was very good, if we were up in Rochdale again we won't think twice about staying at the Broadfield Park

« (Pet Friendly) Brookfield Park Hotel, Rochdale »

This is an excellent hotel within the town centre of Rochdale making it a very convenient base for Manchester owing to it's close proximity to the city's transport links. The hotel offers splendid accommodation which is clean to a high standard and at a competitive rate. Food is good and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is advertised as 'Pet Friendly' and I certainly found this to be the case.

« They go that extra mile for you »

Absolutely amazing staff, they certainly go that extra mile to accommodate their guests. I was at a wedding & carelessly lost my iphone. In the morning I asked at reception if by chance anyone had handed a phone in? Katie on reception asked what phone it was & helped me to track my iphone. She put my phone into lost mode and entered my husbands number. We had only just left the hotel and a girl rang my husbands phone to say she had my phone & gave us her address. Only for Katies quick thinking I would have never got my phone back. All the staff were lovely and the rooms were very nice too. An overall lovely stay and will visit again when going out in Rochdale.
