    « Ordinary Food »

Good standard of accommodation - air conditioning, excellent showeroom - spoilt by ordinary poorly cooked 'Pub Grub' not in keeping with rest of hotel. Poor lighting in in first class showeroom meant problems with shaving makeup etc. Breakfast however was good with a range of cooked 'Full English' options.

    « Wedding »

On our first visit, for a wedding fayre, we knew this was the place for our daughters wedding. We loved everything about it, so we spoke to a member of staff & made the booking. From that day Karen, the wedding coordinator was so helpful. The big day was yesterday & everything was perfect, even the weather ( the hottest bank holiday in years. A big thank you to Karen and all the staff at the hotel.

    « My first visit »

We went to Rogerthorpe Manor at the beginning of April for a friends wedding. It was my first visit but I know a couple of people who had been before and weren't very impressed with the place. However I was very pleasantly surprised, the venue itself was lovely, the rooms were very nice and a great size, the grounds are beautiful and very well cared for, the wedding went off without a hitch and the food and restaurant service were excellent. The evening party was well staffed and the buffet was lovely. There was one thing that I didn't like which stopped me giving the venue five stars and that was the fact that they had another wedding on at the same time. I realise that a lot of venues hold two weddings at the same time but in my opinion this venue was too small for that. On the afternoon, during the wedding photos we were shunted around the corner to another smaller garden and told that we couldn't go back to where we were as there was another wedding coming out for their photo session. Fot the evening reception our guests were coming in through the front door of the hotel, as you do, and having to walk through the evening reception of the other wedding so for residents to go back up to their room for anything they had to walk right round the outside of the hotel! Rogerthorpe Manor don't do cheap weddings so I would only recommend getting married there on a date when yours was the only wedding.

    « Corporate Function »

I recently attended a corporate function here. They have great facilities, service was good and unobtrusive, and the grounds are lovely. I am certain my employers will be happy. I have to mention the food, because I think it was a huge let down. The consensus amongst my colleagues was that it was poor. It seemed badly planned, extremely carb heavy, and the food I ate was quite bland. I'm a little surprised they couldn't do better, but overall the experience was ok.

    « Excellent stay »

We stayed for 1 night in a superior suite, and all I can say is what an excellent place it is to stay. Everything about it was faultless and outstanding in my opinion. The room was really comfortable and very classy with all mod cons, extremely clean as well. We had an evening meal and our breakfast in the Jacobean pub, the food and service was outstanding. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend to anyone.

« Lovely venue and AMAZING staff »

This is a great venue for a wedding - lovely setting and some of the best wedding food (roast beef & sticky toffee) of all the weddings I've ever been to. Staff were superb and the whole day was well organised. Nice bar area and very spacious yet cosy inside given the cold conditions outside! At the end of the night when we found out all taxis had been cancelled due to snow - the staff went above and beyond to help those stranded - calling around local hotels and finding camp beds to fit extra in given they were overbooked. In particular, I'd like to say a massive thank you to the lady behind the bar and the two guys who very kindly did two return trips in the horrible icy conditions to safely return the groom's grandad, myself and some friends to a nearby hotel. Very much appreciated! Highly highly recommend this hotel and it's staff!

« One of my favourites »

Another excellent stop at Rogerthorpe. I was upgraded to a suite, which was on 2 levels. Downstairs a large comfy bed, good sized tv & lots of room. An upstairs sitting room with open views , and a large bathroom with walk in shower and a TV over the bath. Food, as usual, was really good, with good portion sizes and attentive friendly staff. This is my favoured hotel in this part of the country, and I have just booked another 2 nights for next month.

« Great girls night in »

We recently went here to enjoy the girls night in. The room was set out great and all the available facilities were excellent. We had the beauty treatments in the afternoon and both therapists were fab. Kelly gave me a back massage and it was both professional and friendly. We ordered room service on the evening and all of the meals were lovely and good value for money. Breakfast too was plentiful and of great quality. My only down side was that 2 of the double beds were really quite small (I'm guessing 4'6"). They could do with putting at least 4 5' beds in the accommodation to ensure everyone gets a goods night sleep. Saying this we would definitely return and had a great night away. It's well worth the visit.

    « Very nice »

Typical overnight for work. The hotel is in lovely surroundings and has lots of parking . The building is a cut above the normal Best Westerns . Decor is excellent and the bar area is very nice . The room was a nice size well decorated and clean and tidy . The food was very good and reasonably priced . I will return .

    « Last minute booking »

We arrived early at the hotel for a wedding over the weekend, on arrival we had a member of staff on the driveway telling us where we needed to park, we were pointed to the end of the road and park by the tree, so I drove on only to hit black Ice and nearly drove into another parked car. I got out my car and headed to reception whilst been held up by my husband as it was very difficult to walk to small road I had just driven down, it would of been very helpful if the hotel had gritted/salted the short drive way leading to over flow car park given they had a few functions on that day, however... Once inside it is very nice, very oldy worldly, and welcoming, my husband asked if they had any spare rooms and the reception lady got us booked in straight away, and was told to come at 3 to officially check in which we did after the wedding breakfast meal where we were rudely asked to collect our belongings and vacate the room immediately after barely raising a toast to congratulate the newlyweds on their happy day. It was very rude at how the guests were prompted to basically just get out so they could change the room over for the night time due. I thought it would of been nice for everyone to finish their drinks and allow their lunch to digest a little and allow the bride and groom to mingle before been moved on. We got our keys and went to our room, upon opening the door we were welcomed with a large room, comfy bed and pillows, flat screen tv, tea and coffee facilities which was ample, a pretty bathroom with purple led lights around the floor, only down side it was freezing so we turned the heating on, after the party we went back to our room to still find it cold, to add to the conditions we were woken at 4am with a loud noise to find the air con had come on full blast, as if j wasn't already cold, the little heat we had in the room was now gone, I got out of bed to find the remote attached to the wall to turn it off by which point I was wide awake and did not sleep for the rest of the night, and eventually got up for breakfast, Breakfast I cannot find fault as it was delicious, eggs, sausages, bacon, toast, beans etc all came with great taste, but again we found the rude lady at the wedding breakfast now serving breakfast, again she was a little unapproachable, very snappy, and un helpful, other than the lack of service with a smile breakfast was nice and then we went to pay and check out. Overall I do like this hotel and I would stay again just sometimes the little things can make a big difference

    « Good Stay - if tall, don't take Room 8! »

Stayed Friday 16th Feb to Mon 29th check out. Before our stay we received a courtesy call to tell us that the hotel was busy for that weekend ( Friday Function, Sat and Sun Weddings ), so a quiet room would be provided. Excellent service. The room was quiet, no great view but you can't have everything! Well appointed room with the most tea & coffee making provisions I've ever seen in a room. Shame about the tea cups - we're definitely mug folk. The breakfasts and meals in the Jacobean Pub were lovely and waiting staff very friendly and accommodating. My only gripe is that being 6'2?, the bathroom in our room had a strange configuration with the hand basin set under a lintel in the corner. It was set about 5' from the floor so meant even my wife - 5'8? had to stoop to get to the taps. I hit my head a couple of times and then thankfully managed to avoid any repeats! I appreciate that it's an old building but I'm sure the lay out could be changed to avoid concussion! Overall, a great hotel which should be proud of its customer service - just avoid room 8 ! « Lunch in the Jacobean »

Great carvery and a lovely place but avoid here if you like beer. There used to be good quality hand pulled ale but now it's just overpriced fizz. Big let down and won't be coming back anytime soon. Really sad especially since we were married here.

I thought it was a brilliant room and there was plenty of space with great staff who were very friendly towards myself and friends. I definitely recommend it to others if you're considering a place to stay for the night.

« Great hotel with superb pub in a good location »

I chose this hotel based on it's location. it was perfect for me. Quick check in with the friendly staff and the pub attached provided a great evening meal. The room was clean, modern and had everything I needed. I will use this hotel again no problem at all

« Cold Room and Cold Water »

Stayed on Friday 19th of January 2018 for one night. We had a lovely meal in the Jacobean restaurant and could not fault the food or service. Sadly our experience altered when we went to our room. Both the corridor to the room and the room itself were very cold. There was no central heating on in the room and the air conditioning heater was turned off. It took an age for the room to heat and the appliance was very noisy. The water was cold in the bathroom so no hot shower either. We had a bad nights sleep due to the noise of the heater, and the following morning the water was still cold. We were advised by reception that the boiler had tripped the previous evening and no-one had been around to re-set it. At check-out we received an apology but no offer made to adjust the bill. Sadly a disappointing stay and we will probably look elsewhere next time.

    « Wonderful stay »

We booked this hotel for our anniversary, and we were given a complimentary upgrade to a suite. The room was amazing. Separate living area, dressing area and a huge shower room! The bed was super comfy and veg also brought me up some down pillows. The lighting was awesome too, made the huge room cosy. Thank you for making our visit so good! We will be returning. Thank you

    « Very comfortable... »

If you like a hotel with character, you'll like it here. A beautiful old building, nicely modernised and appointed. The rooms are comfortable and the suites are particularly impressive - definitely worth the extra if you fancy a night of luxury. The staff are friendly and helpful and there is a nice bar and restaurant on site. The location is very quiet though, so not a place for people who enjoy busy city centres. Great for a comfortable night's sleep in cosy surroundings and a favourite for wedding parties, because of the classic charm and appearance.

    « Wonderful stay »

Warm , inviting and comfortable. Lovely big room . Slipped up as I ought to have asked for a room with a bath rather than just the shower. Comfy bed and fluffy towels, Breakfast and dinner choices are varied and tasty. Staff accomodating and friendly. Enjoyable experience in a lovely setting.

    « Amazing food & friendly staff »

We had our works Christmas party here on Saturday 3rd December & it was absolutely amazing! I had a gluten free option which was served separately & it was so tasty! All the staff were very friendly and polite. The toilets were very modern and immaculately clean. I look forward to returning to Rogerthorpe in the near future for another astounding meal. Thanks to all the catering staff for a good night xx

    « Amazing wedding venue »

We had our wedding here and could not fault anything at all. Special thanks to Karen, our wedding planner, for all of her hard work, support and understanding. The venue is stunning, the function suites make for a wonderfully intimate atmosphere and the rooms themselves are luxurious. The food is amazing both in the hotel and the Jacobean pub. All of the staff are friendly approachable and go above and beyond to ensure an amazing experience is had by all. For the evening function we also booked the resident DJ and the music he played along with his engaging personality kept everyone entertained and dancing. All in all Rogerthorpe Manor made our day very, very special. Thank you so very, very much.

    « Stunning Suites »

Booked an executive room and received an upgrade to a suite (17) which was possibly the most luxurious duplex bedroom, sitting room and en-suite we have ever had in the world. All the up to date fixtures fittings lighting and accessories are best quality. Even had a TV to watch when taking a bath. Luxurious, modern and very clean bathroom. The evening meal with local friends matched the style of the hotel. We all had quality quantity and value meals that the best of Yorkshire produces. The staff were friendly, professional and gave us a warm welcome throughout our stay. Quite simply the best place to stay in this part of Yorkshire.

    « Fantastic 2 night stay. »

Stopped here for 2 nights while we explored the local area. Staff were very welcoming, our room was large, spotless and had a comfy bed. We had peaceful sleep both nights. The attached Jacobean Pub had a broad menu range and our meals were perfectly cooked and presented.

« A wonderful night and meal in a beautiful place »

I attended an evening function and stayed the night at the wonderful Rogerthorpe Manor. From the start the reception staff were very welcoming and pleasent, the bar staff were friendly and attentive and the beer was good. My room was a twin which was spacious, clean and pleasent with a wonderful modern en-suite. The function I was attending was very well organised and there were copies of the seating plans and menus easily available. The brass band played as we started dinner, the leak and potato soup was very good, the chicken wrapped in ham main was very tasty and the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. A great selection of wines were available and they went down really well. I slept very well and the full breakfast set me up for the day to come. A wonderful stay and I will return.

    « Sunday roast »

Amazing Sunday roast the best around all fresh ingredients most definitely worth a visit, lovely quaint restaurant with even nicer surroundings, the place gets extremely busy so it's best to turn up around 12 as you can't book in advance

    « Rude staff »

At the end of a fantastic night celebrating my other half's Dads wedding we nipped to reception to see if we could get a taxi home, the receptionist ( an older gentleman ) handed my other half a piece of paper with taxi numbers on. My partner asked if he could call us a taxi as he'd left his phone at home and I had no battery, he just showed him the piece of paper again and started putting the shutter down on him !!!!!! We didn't have a room booked but by the prices of the drinks I can imaging it is not exactly a cheap place to stay and thought for that amount of money the service would be exemplary! He was extremely rude and after turning up at the wrong hotel (Wentbridge house hotel) at the beginning of the night where the young lady at their reception could have not gone more out of her way to help us I expected the same if not more here as they are not that far away from each other I assume they would be trying their best to up one another !! Well all I can advise is go to Wentbridge HOuse Hotel instead as the team are much friendlier and helpful !

    « Pamper night »

Me and 5 friends went on the pamper overnight stay for a 50th birthday. 4 of us were aloud in room about 2pm to decorate it up. Around 5pm our other 2 friends arrived...we met in the pub for a drink then went round to our suit. We took our own food (which was not really needed) drink and music player... In the room was tea coffee biscuits and crisps. Around 6pm kerry and Sam came to give us our 1/2 hour treatment...(we all opted to neck and back massage). The girls were lovely and good at there jobs.... Then around 8ish canapés and 6 small bottles of cavalry arrived... Then around 9.30 hot chocolate and marshmallows arrived.. The next morning we went for breakfast (8.30 -10.30) with a wide variety to choose from... The room was lovely with settees chairs bean bags....disco lights to go with dance floor and 4 double beds around it.... Set out lovely and very clean. A brilliant night was had by all and we all felt it was well worth the money (£100 for 6-8 persons) I would highly recommend this overnight stay for something different.....10/10

    « Pamper party »

We visited your lovely hotel for our best friends 50th Birthday. What an enjoyable experience, never have any of us been to such a wonderful place. We chose the Pamper Party, we had our own beauty therapists, Kerry and Sam who were amazing, very friendly and professional. Thank you ladies. The room we stayed in was second to none, it really had the wow factor when we walked in. You even had a pillow menu and choose which type you wanted. Breakfast the next morning was lovely, lots of chose. Thank you Rogerthorpe for making our friends birthday the best ever. We will definitely be returning.

« Best Best Western for a while »

I was pleasantly surprised by just how nice my room was. Having stayed in other hotels using the Best Western system I was expecting 90s decor with tired furnishings etc. My room was modern comfortable and reasonably large. The main problem for me was that the room was some way away from reception and upstairs with no lift. We had an event in one of the banqueting suites and the food and service was above average. Breakfast was amazing, all the usuals available but cooked items done to order. Included in the room rate, otherwise £10. Would return, maybe in the summer as they had lovely gardens.

    « Characterful »

Had a big corporate dinner. Food was great and we were very well looked after by friendly, attentive staff. The building is quirky with lots of nooks and crannies. Very poor choice if you like beer/ale.

    « Great stay »

We have stayed at the hotel a few times now. Twice in the main hotel & twice in the courtyard suits. The courtyard suits are beautiful. Feels like you are in your own little apartment. Try one of these for a special occasion. The rooms in the main part are also very nice. Because we have stayed a few times now. We have got to know some of the staff. We were there last Tuesday. & I have to say the customer service is always very good. Billy, Gareth, Jonny and Millie looked after us very well. Very chatty & friendly. We have always had dinner there too. The fajitas were very nice. On checkout the next day, we dealt with Cairen. We wanted to request the room we had before for our next day. She was very helpful & friendly & the hotel managed to accommodate us. Looking forward to our return visit. Thanks everyone. Samantha

    « Business Trip »

I stayed in this hotel during a 3-day business trip in the area. As a BW diamond card holder, I was given an upgrade to a lovely room (14). The room was excellent and very spacious. The location was good for my needs and a bonus of a couple of easy navigatable runs around the various footpaths. I used the Jacobean pub on one night which was nice but I really enjoyed walking a mile down to the Earl of Pontefract which was much more to my taste and I could charge to my room. The breakfast was ok and had the usual fare. The staff were really friendly and the cleaning staff were non-obtrusive and cleaned my room to a high standard. Thank you for being an excellent base.

    « Catchup Lunch »

Pleasant, comfortable atmosphere in Pub, extensive choice of menu with prices to suit most pockets. All three of us went for the OAP starter and main course option and as per previous visits the food was excellent. I would have given 5 stars but, although the service was generally efficient, one of our starters was left in the kitchen and I had to go find someone to locate it after it became obvious it wasn't going to appear.

    « Saint »

I spent a couple of nights here. Good quality hotel. Pub food restaraunt the 1st night was fantastic and private dining on evening was even better. A bit of a rabbit warren but lovely grounds and excellent business conference room. I'd have no hesitation in recommending but would upgrade if returning for a personal trip.

« Excellent for a weekend away to the country »

We booked Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel via Booking.com a few weeks previous to our visit. We were called by the hotel to be informed that there would be a wedding on the day of our stay and an offer of upgrade to a quiet room in a different part of the hotel was made. In fact we were given a small suite with a lounge! at no extra cost. As it was one of my big birthday, it was perfect and we really appreciated the upgrade. The suite was very comfortable, quirky with a view to the fields and a very well appointed bathroom with subdued lighting effect. We dined at the pub attached to the Manor as it was a Sunday and the Restaurant was not opened. We had the carvery Sunday dinner with delicious roasts served in the generous Yorkshire style - ie. with large portions and it is best not to be on a diet!!! As we were rather late, there was only two of the roasts left and we regretted not to have had a late lunch rather than an early dinner. However the rest of the stay was perfect. Whilst checking out, and being asked about the suite, when I revealed that it was my big 70th birthday, the receptionist handed me a small box of chocolates which was a particularly nice a touch. When we can, we like to stay in Best Western hotels, Rogerthorpe Manor is particularly good, and we were glad of our choice. We shall return when we visit Yorkshire again.

« Very poor all around »

I recently visited this place for family wedding. After paying approx £120 for a night I arrived to a room that was barely big enough for a bed. Not only that, but, the room had a vile smell of sewerage. As I was at a family wedding I didn't really want to spend my time sorting a room out so decided to leave it, especially as 2 family members had been told there were no rooms available. Having a tv in the room was pointless as a number of channels didn't work due to poor signal. I reported this on checkout and followed it up with an email. I was then told that the only thing rogerthorpe would do is to offer a free upgrade if I booked another room. So basically they wanted me to spend more money. No thanks! I was also told that I was my fault that I didn't report the issue at the time, not taking into consideration that I was actually there for the wedding and shouldn't have to spend an hour or so sorting the issue. Very poor experience from start to finish.

    « One night only!!! »

This is a good transitory hotel, primarily suited for one night stays and probably not the best for a multi-night stay. We enjoyed room 14 which was very well appointed and spacious. However, there was no bath. We had large suitcases and found it difficult to get them to the room on the first floor and there was no offer of assistance from the front of house staff. Breakfast was typical with hot and cold food on offer with some options available to order. Coffee was disgusting and the machine needs to find its way to the local tip.

« Nice hotel in lovely grounds, but not great value. »

Attended a friend's family wedding and stayed over. Hotel catered for the party well enough and the grounds were certainly picturesque and well maintained. The hotel also provides free parking on site and free WiFi. Our bedroom, however, was a lot smaller than we expected for a "Plus" rating. The view from the bedroom window was basically the top of the hotel roof and the comfort of the bed was not great. The biggest minus point was probably the hotel policy of charging full price for a child's breakfast, which meant that couples with young children didn't even bother to take up this option.

What a fab night away with the bride to be and all the hens. It was a surprise for her and she absolutely loved it. The canapés and strawberries and cream were delicious and the bucket filled with bottles of prosecco went down a treat. Our treatments were brilliant. Everyone was so relaxed. 5* goes to Kerry our beauty therapist who made us all feel so comfortable and was very accomadating with the treatments we all wanted. The room was just fantastic, very spacious with the comfiest beds ever and fab facilities. We will definitely be booking again.

What a amazing day we had, I do not know where to start... First I would like to say big Thank you to Karen - wedding coordinator, lovely reception team chefs and everyone involved in our wedding reception for amazing job they did. We could not ask for more Thank you guys. We manage pull wedding in 6 months with loads of support from Karen, hotel is in amazing setting with beautifully kept gardens. We get married outside and set up was amazing, All our tables were ready decorated how we wanted, seating plan great, with no mistakes, amazing staff helpful and caring, evening turn around was that quick we were nicely surprised, we had to postpone our evening buffet due to slight delay our wedding breakfast but that wasn't problem at all. We had best day of our life so far and this place is a gem for wedding. Lovely bedroom, absolutely amazing suites outside. We stayed in suite 16 and from fist venue show around this was our favorite room. Early check in was great and there was no problem. Room service available as well and lovely breakfast. All our wedding guests complimented on food, service, venue, everyone were just happy, relaxed and enjoyed them selves. Us as married couple we could not wish for more relaxing, stress free wedding. Ok Guys Karen, Reception team, Master of ceremony, waiting staff, evening managers, Chefs, Housekeeping team Thank you Thank You Thank you made our day magic and magnificent.

    « Afternoon Tea »

We went here for a baby shower . It was £15 each for afternoon tea . There was a small selection of sandwiches and various cakes . Having had afternoon tea at different venues , I would say this was possibly the worst and definitely not value for money . The sandwiches were poor and not enough and the cakes weren't homemade and nothing special . There were some cakes left over and when we asked if they had a carry out tray or box , we were told that we couldn't take them home ! Even tho we paid for them !! We did have a lovely afternoon there because of the occasion , but wouldn't return especially for afternoon tea .

An absolute must for any wedding. A brilliant location. All the staff were wonderful and couldn't do enough for us. From the receptionist, chambermaids, waiters/waitresses, chef, wedding organiser all played there part in making a very special day extra special. Food was excellent, catering for so many. The grounds are beautiful making the photographs wonderful. Would recommend any couples wishing to tie the knot go for it, they certainly know how to do it with no fuss.

    « Lovely Venue for a Wedding »

I wouldn't have chosen to pay £125 for one night (excluding breakfast) but we were attending a wedding here. Although check-in and the ceremony were both timed for 3pm we were allowed to check in earlier to get ready. When I originally booked I was told that we would have to use the disabled toilet to wash and change unless we paid an extra £15. However this decision was reversed. Thank you Doreen. Our room was generally ok but the shower cubicle was small, with a poorly fitting door and black mould inside. Also a bedside wall light was coming away. In all some improvement to maintenance of rooms appears to be necessary to give value for money. As a wedding venue guests are made aware to expect late night noise.

    « Stunning Wedding venue »

Truly looked after. The place the staff deserve more than 5 stars the can not do enough for you. Fantastic place and fantasic all round.

    « Fantastic Wedding. »

Rogerthorpe Manor. Mr & Mrs Taylor Wedding. 28/07/2017. I cannot praise Rogerthorpe Manor and its staff enough. From the first day of meeting Karen (Wedding Events Organiser) who is such a lovely and professional lady who took so much of the worry away. Helping, advising and being on hand anytime if we needed to contact her. We (bride and family members) stayed at Rogerthorpe on the eve of the wedding in a family suite which was lovely with beautiful views across one of the gardens. We dined there that night in the Jacobean and had breakfast in the morning. Now I do not exaggerate when I say the food is second to none, absolutely top notch.. From beginning to end, all the staff always so polite and courteous and nothing was to much trouble. The wedding day meal itself from the Bride & Groom and guest arriving to welcome drinks, photographs in the wonderful gardens and settings, to being escorted into the meal, where the room and the tables where dressed beautifully. To being discreetly guided through out for the speeches/toasts, present giving, cake cutting etc was wonderful. Again the wedding meal was fantastic. The food again I can only say, I'm sure they must have a Michelin Chef or two working tirelessly behind the scenes. The waiting staff, and Karen again were fantastic making sure everything ran according to plan and they did an outstanding job. Rogerthorpe Manor itself is a beautiful historical manor set in the countryside with the most exquisite gardens/grounds making for the most wonderful photo opportunities for the bridal party. Any faults?? Absolutely none.. It really was the perfect day in every way. Thank you so much to Rogerthorpe Manor and its wonderful staff (those we had contact with and those who work just as hard behind the scenes) for making dreams come true.

    « WEDDING WOW! »

Guests at a Wedding and what a fabulous day. From check in to check out everything was just fabulous.Reception staff quick, efficient, friendly and helpful rooms and beds spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The Wedding Breakfast was served under the supervision of a very 'on the ball' lady who ensured everything ran like clockwork and the food was delicious.A very efficient and swift change over from day to evening and disco and hog roast oh wow what a treat. The gardens and flower displays obviously tended by a man who enjoys his job how fabulous for photos.Just a wow day and night!Well done guys you have it nailed.Only improvements that could be made would be be to give the hotel more individuality with the decor, carpets wallpaper etc make it less 'chain hotel'.This however is nit picking as i can say this is without doubt the best chain hotel I have stayed in by a mile.

    « Wonderful place »

Stayed for my sons wedding . I could go on and on about how good and reasonably priced this place is but it would be way too much to read . My one fault is the layout can seem somewhat maze like layout of the building and anex's. Great stay though . Sure will go again.

I dont know where to begin from the moment we viewed this venue for our wedding we fell in love with it,and it just got beter and beter from there, the staff realy went above and beyond to make our day run smoothly and be everything we dreamed it would be especially our wedding coordinators nicola and karen who weather it would be a email or phone call were always at the other end to answer or put my mind at ease would definitely recommend rogerthorpe manor to anyone wanting to get married its perfect.

« What an amazing place! »

My partner had booked this for a little get away and I was amazed at the place! We stayed in one of the little barn rooms as I called them. On arriving at the hotel you could see it was well kept the grounds looked lovely and the surrounding areas were beautiful. Our room was magnificent with everything you could wish for inside! Dressing gowns, slippers, toiletries and a safe were provided aswell as other things. We ordered a bottle of prosecco with to the room on arrival. The restaurant at the hotel was magnificent. as was the food! Room service was prompt and absolutely amazing too! Everything about this hotel was prefect. The inclusive breakfast was a buffet ora menu which you could order from which I found was an extra bonus to the place. I would happily go back here and stay again. Couldn't have picked a better hotel

    « Lovely as always »

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times. Above everything, I am always stunned by how beautiful the grounds are. The facilities are spotless and the food is lovely. I was impressed with the level of detail at breakfast, they even cut the crusts off my toast! Great that they do a takeaway bag so you can also grab breakfast to-go if you're in a rush.

    « AMAZING WEDDING!! »

Our friends got married here and it was so good!! We stayed in he hotel attached to the venue and it was brill. The whole day was great, the food we had throughout our stay was good and all the staff were helpful. The bride and groom had a wonderful wedding here.

    « Weddings. »

This place is outstanding for weddings . Something to suite everyone's pocket. It's definitely photo Genic place . You can marry here or have your reception. Good Buffy or waiter service for seat down meal, either is excellent. With a wide menus to choose from. What does let it down was the bar service. Very poor . Which I have to tell you the drinks were very expensive but shocking to be honest. Which highlights the bad service more.

    « just the ticket »

Visiting the liquorice festival at Pontefract, we wanted just one night's stay and booked on the internet. As soon as the booking was made, the hotel rang and said there was a wedding that night with a disco, they recommended a suite in a quieter area. It was a bit more pricey, but well worth it. A lovely converted stable block, beautifully finished. The staff were friendly and helpful, an enjoyable meal in the 1610 steak bar. The grounds and flowers are delightful, the gardeners have really been busy, a credit to them. It wasn't a cheap night's stay, but we felt it was worth it.

« There is a reason I keep coming back here »

I have been working in Knottingley for the past couple of months and have been using Rogerthorpe ever since I stayed for my first night. I have stayed in all of the superior suites and a few of the normal rooms and I have never had a problem. The staff are always polite, the rooms are immaculate and & the food in the Jacobean is always lovely. Having read some of the reviews on here I thought I'd write this one to help out future guests thinking about staying here... 1. It's an old building (main house) This means there is no lifts and you have to navigate stairs and some small corridors. This is not a bad thing, it's nice to stay in a hotel with character! 2. It's a wedding venue If you book at the weekend, expect noise if you are in the main house. I have been here twice when a wedding has been on. Once staying in the main house where I heard the music but didn't care. Once in the suites and didn't hear anything. If your booking at the weekend save yourself the "stress" and ask the hotel if there is a wedding on. 3. Upgrade to the suites! These rooms are amazing and a nice change from the normal four walls you get to stare at on business trips.

    « sean and francesca,s wedding »

Truly fantastic day was had by all it was lovely to have a catch up with everyone and meeting the new members of the family , the hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly . The hotel charming and very well presented . Rooms were very clean and our room was huge (room 13) , Tea and coffee facilities are well stocked " Yorkshire tea ". The only downside is the shower water pressure is a little low but this will not hinder you having a good shower, and the toilet tissue was on the cheap side for a hotel room of this calibre . Breakfasts were very good and cooked breakfasts, were served to you , as apposed to buffet style. The extensive grounds were very well kept and beautiful , The evening lighting outside was pretty and effective, We had a enjoyable stay. Thank you to all involved.

    « LOVELY WEDDING 1ST JULY 2017 »

Came as a guest for my nieces wedding. found everything very good, sit down 3 course meal was good, the wedding package and arrangements went smoothly, we had a peek in one of the suites they were staying in and it was superb, like a little holiday cottage, living area downstairs and up one flight of stairs using your legs to propel yourself to a lovely shower and bath area, even carrying a case was easy with one of your arms you were born with, ignore the negs it is lovely, final word to your gardner and his team, these are superb, very well tendered and neat, it looks lovely, enjoy, we did.

    « 17th June »

We stayed here on Saturday for a wedding. Upon arrival Rogerthorpe seemed to be great until it came to checking in. The facilities for a family with a baby are actually terrible to say we are living in the 21st century. Getting a travel cot, pram plus luggage up the 2 flights of stairs was a nightmare. I had to bath my child in the sink as there was only a shower in the hotel room, there was also no changing facilities in the room so I had to change my child on the bed. As for the aircon this was also appalling, we had a member of staff come up to the room as we thought we may have had it on the wrong setting but apparently not. All in all the best part of our stay was the breakfast this was actually very nice. The facilities for families with young children/babies definitely needs improving.

    « Wedding »

Went here for a wedding 17th June 2017. ? no lifts in the building which is very inconvenient when you are taking travel cots, prams, babies and luggage upstairs. ? food was bang average not the worst but it wasn't the best, really mediocre. ? the bar is open until 1am which was great, what isn't great is not having a cash machine in the hotel and charging £4 for cash back....thieves without the balaclavas! ? the rooms are good but the air con in them was terrible, you'd have gotten more cold air from an erupting volcano! For the money you pay, you expect better! Fix up Rogerthorpe

    « Wedding - 18th June 2016 »

My husband and I got married at this wonderful hotel last year. The staff, from the waiters and waitresses to the bar staff couldn't do enough for us, especially Karen who coordinated our wedding for us. The food, atmosphere and grounds were beautiful - you made our day perfect. Everyone who attended commented on how much they enjoyed the day. The morning after our wedding day there was a couple who were seeing Karen to discuss the possibility of having their wedding there, I went across to the couple and advised they book as they wouldn't be disappointed - I really hope they chose you too. I have since recommend this hotel to friends and family and would like to thank every member of staff who made our day so very special. Apologies for the delay in writing the review :)

I held my wedding here last Friday (26th May) and I had the most amazing day. All the staff we so helpful especially Karen, my wedding coordinator. She organised everything I asked for and was with me every step of the way during the past year. A lot of the guests said what a beautiful place it is and how lovely the food was. I was very happy with every aspect of my day and would definitely recommend it. Thankyou again and I can't wait to come back and visit you again soon Mrs Rachel Baker x

    « No sleep allowed »

We had a lovely air conditioned room, very clean with a quirky set up. Bathroom with a powerful shower, lovely towels and a little blue light beside the loo! great to find in the dark. We were so looking forward to our stay here. We could see and hear there was a wedding going on, at the beginning it wasn't too bad, despite kids running riot, pulling plants out, climbing everything they could, all right outside our window, ok but it was when the DJ started up, 12.45 am finally the loud music stopped, we were right above it. I woke up with a migraine, when I complained on check out to the receptionist we were told 'you would have had an e mail telling you about the wedding and the noise' my Husband has checked now we are home, it was a confirmation and this is it, no refund mentioned on it, nothing about noise. I will be complaining to Best Western website with a copy of his e mail. We have stayed before in another Hotel and also on the Sunday night we stayed in York at another Best Western what a difference! If you are attending a wedding and staying the noise won.t bother you, otherwise stay somewhere else, shame as the Hotel is beautiful and in gorgeous settings.

« Wedding and overnight stay »

My wife and myself went to a family wedding held here and also stayed over for the night. You could not fault the place or the staff at all. The hotel has a lot of period features and certainly feels like your visiting somewhere special. The grounds are amazing and are superbly maintained. Giving a fantastic backdrop to the wedding pictures. There was a big conservatory where drinks and canapés were served. There was large room set up for the service which was going to be outdoors but the weather let things down but didn't spoil the back up plans. After the service we went into the bar area and conservatory until the main room had been extended and changed around for dinner and speeches'. Again it was set up amazingly. The food was served by pleasant staff and everything was cooked to perfection. The night do was also very good with DJ and dance floor and bar and hot and cold buffet. Everything flowed with the conservatory and garden which extended the already very large party area. Our room was a suite which was brilliant. With it's own bathroom, TV, music station & sitting area etc. It had two dressing areas with a table chair and mirror a piece. So we could get ready without falling over each other. Great idea. Great views of the gardens from the two windows (it was a corner room). The rooms were decorated to a high standard and felt very plush. We paid extra for an early check in, which was the best thing do since the wedding was at 1pm. The breakfast was served in the Jacobean Bar in the morning and was self service and all very good. Overall a brilliant hotel to stay in and to have wedding in. Well done.

    « Weekend wedding »

We chose Rogerthorpe for a weekend stay as we were attending a wedding nearby. The manor is set in beautiful gardens complete with follies and seating areas, ideal for a peaceful drink on The terrace . Check in was easy and we were in our room quickly, although there is no lift which could be a problem for the less able. The room (executive) had recently been decorated in a very tasteful style and was spacious and spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed. There was a wonderful shower room with everything provided. Did not eat in the restaurant on this occasion but have found the on site jacobean pub to be excellent. The service ,ambience comfort and location make this hotel a winner, would definitely return.

Staff friendly and helpful breakfast could not be faulted with so much choice. Well done Roger Thorpe. Will certainly visit you again

I went to Rogerthorpe Manor for my sisters 60th Birthday Party. The Hotel is clean, tidy and welcoming, all the staff are polite and friendly. We had a lovely hot meal that not only was it presented beautifully but tasted delicious. Well done to all the staff my husband and I along with the rest of the guests had a wonderful afternoon. This is not the first time that I've attended a function at this particular venue. Over the years I have stayed and attended several weddings and other celebrations. I can honestly say that there as never been a problem, everything as always gone to plan. I would definitely recommend this Venue to anyone that is wanting to Celebrate something special.

    « Friendly and welcoming »

Very welcoming upon my arrival and I was a late check-in. The staff a reception where friendly and informative. My room was at the back of the manor. The room was clean with a good choice of tea/coffee and biscuits in the room. TV and radio/alarm clock are in the room. Bathroom came with all the bathroom facilities and things such as sewing kit, shower cap, face cloth and tissues. There is various cooked breakfast options as well as the buffet breakfast. Wifi was quick at working to. I would recommend this hotel and would also stay again in the future.

    « Lovely stay! »

Comfortable and cozy bedroom with lovely facilities. Will happily stay again. Only issue was the room door from the inside wouldn't lock and the shower flooded in the morning as the shower tray was too slow to drain. This wouldn't stop me booking again!

    « Wedding! »

Upon arrival the the hotel we was greeted by a very friendly accommodating receptionist, who very kindly pulled out all the stops to get our room ready before we left to attend a Wedding not far from the hotel. We arrived back around midnight after a long tiring day and finally got to appreciate our room. The room was lovely and clean and also quite spacious, much more than we expected as it was only a place to put our heads down. The first thing my partner said when he sat on the bed was how firm it was, firm was an understatement. Now I appreciate everyone likes different types of mattress's but this was like sleeping on a pile of bricks! Both my partner and I hardly slept because neither of us could get comfy! Like I've already said I appreciate all mattress's are different so decided not to report this when we checked out as overall the hotel is lovely and quite quirky. I woke up with a dull pain in my back but didn't think anything of it, since arriving home this has got worse which I can only put it down to the bed. I do not suffer from back problems and haven't before so the bed would be the only thing to trigger it. Overall really lovely hotel with very nice staff... but only stay there if you don't mind sleeping (spending the night not sleeping trying to get comfy!) on what feels like a pile of bricks!

    « Room a disappointment »

We recently stayed for my sisters wedding and the family room we had booked ended up being a very small double room and having the put up bed in there made the room too small to get round. The room was so small that you could walk round the end of the bed without having to bend over to avoid hitting you head on the TV. You couldn't use the chair and had nowhere to put your case because of the put up bed. The put up bed had a runner missing and our 10 year old struggled to sleep. The toilet didn't flush properly in the room. Most of the staff were friendly but they were too keen when collecting empty glasses and took several people's drinks before they were finished.

    5
    « Beautiful venue »

We only stayed 1 night but all agreed we'd have happily stayed longer. Staff were very friendly, food in the Jacobean pub was excellent and the quiz night was great fun. Definitely going back soon. The garden looked extensive and well kept - the leaves were being cleared as the snow fell. Would look gorgeous for wedding photos

    3
« Ok, but with a couple of issues »

The hotel is in well kept grounds and it looks impressive from the outside. The room was clean with a nice bathroom and there are good facilities on site with 2 bars and free wifi. The welcome at reception was very warm and the lady really helpful. However, I didn't sleep a wink at the hotel. The extractor fan in my bathroom ran all night - loudly. It wasn't possible to shut it off for whatever reason. I did tell reception in the morning and they were very apologetic and said they'd get it fixed. The final concern was the Jacobean Pub menu - not a single vegetarian main course on offer. That was a problem for me and I had to leave the hotel for dinner.

We stayed for two nights as part of a wedding package in November 2016. Staff were brilliant, room(s) were great, hotel reasonably well appointed if a little quirky. Wedding food good and breakfasts excellent. Our only difficulty was that our hot water tap didn't work - immediately rectified by way of a free upgrade which was great for us but, as the hotel was full it meant someone else got the duff plumbing. Would most certainly recommend

We organised a family / friends celebration at Rogerthorpe Manor and couldn't have been happier with the way the evening went. Planning the event was straight forward with good advice offered throughout. The evening started well with the room looking lovely, the dj agreed to play the music of our choice, which he did - keeping the dance floor full throughout, the food was excellent and the staff on duty were all incredibly helpful. Our guests all enjoyed the evening which was important for us and overall we couldn't be happier with the event.

« Venue great beds poor »

Currently staying in one of the guest bedrooms following a friends wedding. As a wedding venue the hotel has everything you could wish for, although despite having to pre order your menu choice on the day there wasn't enough lamb as another guest had changed their mind! But the down side is the rooms. We are only short in height but our feet are hanging of the end of the bed and the mattress is extremely poor. Only a thin mattress on a very hard base. When paying a discounted price of £100 a night I would at least expect to have a proper sized mattress. Poor end to what was a great day. Let's hope the breakfast makes up for our lack of sleep.

    « What a setting »

My wife and i went in late October 2016 for her birthday and as a surprise i booked a room with a 4 poster bed so upon arrival we were told that due to a wedding the room may be a bit noisy so they had upgraded us to a suite which after seeing it was absolutely beautiful (only opened in April 2016) with everything you could wish for along with a birthday card and box of chocolates from the staff at the hotel. The hotel restaurant is mainly steak which we both decided on and glad we did as it was superb along with the chips and salad, breakfast was equally as good served in the Jackobean pub attached to the hotel. To top off our 3 day break we chose the afternoon tea on Saturday afternoon which was no disapointment with plenty of nice sandwiches, cakes and even home made trifle. The whole concept of this hotel was superb, views around the grounds, accomodation food and staff made this a break to look back on.

    « PJ Pamper Party!! »

It was the first time I had visited this hotel, there was 7 of us & we had the pamper package in one of the suites. It was an amazing stay & great views! The beds were one of the best I've slept in (Memory Foam!) & the service was good, despite having to call up reception to be reminded that we were expecting canopies, hot choc & champagne in the room that evening. There was fizzy water in the room supplied, however this was out of date from July 2016 which was disappointing to see. Only one toilet though which was situated upstairs in the corner so with 7 in the room did expect to see two, perhaps one downstairs & one upstairs. We enjoyed the disco ball in the room and had a great feel to it, we certainly made use of the dance floor in the middle of the room too! The Jacobean pub was fabulous for a meal and had a good set up for a full English breakfast to start off the day too! I would certainly be back again, the grounds are great to see & has a lot of character to the place, worth taking a photo or two!

« High standard never drops »

Visited this great establishment again. The standard of food, service etc never fails to be anything but of a high level. Although the menu doesn't change there are always additional "specials" as well as specialist evenings. The cost of the meals is comparible to other restaurants - the seniors citizens two course meal being £9.95 including coffee/tea. I would recommend the Jacobean pub to anyone. There is also a "1610 steak house. rooms and banquet / wedding / party facilities

    4
    « Excellent meal »

I have been many times to this hotel from the 1980's but also in the last ten years. The meals in the Jacobean bar are very good and especially the seniors menu which has a good choice and extras on the board. I have used this to help with Christmas and Birthday presents as a voucher for £20 will buy 2 two course meals including coffee and I am sure will be a welcome gift to receive. Keep up the good work!

As we always stay over when we go to the races,we won't be trying anywhere else. This hotel is a real gem. I really must mention the delicious food & very friendly staff. The grounds & flowers are lovely too.Looking forward to our next trip already!

« Our wedding day - Best day ever!! »

Wowsers!! What a wedding day. (3rd sept 2016) We loved every moment of it, Karen (and Nicola) took my ideas on board and made them completely real. The day was everything we envisaged and more. There was even another wedding in the other room which we were completely unaware of all evening. Its easy to see the staff do this on a regular basis everything went without a hitch and to plan (if i didn't we were unaware). The staff couldn't do enough, and despite one of our guests being rude at one point he was removed from the situation with such ease that other guests including myself was unaware (there is always one!!). The room looked gorgeous, and was turned around quickly from a ceremony room to wedding breakfast with ease. I cant big you guys up enough, we had an amazing day and i married the man i completely adore and get to spend the rest of my life with. The guests commented on our singer (katrina), the staff and venue of the Rogerthorpe Manor and the food (which was delicious). All in all from the planning stages to the day its self nothing was too much trouble, we thankyou so so so much for making our day so special. We HIGHLY recommend you guys.

« Eating at the Jacobean restaurant »

visited the restaurant on our wedding anniversary 2nd Sept 2016 The meal was very good - starter of mussels was first class - main meal very good but you have to pay extra for veg. Sweet also very good Service first class - The waiters were very attentative.

    « Would try again »

We went there as a group of 10. Quite a busy lunchtime. Food preordered so we didn't have to wait too long for service. I was really happy with my meal but husband ordered fish and chips and found batter spongey. Also one person had cold steak pie delivered to him. Only other complaint was that we only had 2 servings of veg for the group which seemed a bit sparse. I would definitely give this place another try as part of a smaller group.

    « Suites...stunning! »

My boyfriend and I stopped here for one night 27/08/2016 in the superior suites (suite number 17). Suite 17 has an upstairs and a downstairs. It's absolutely beautiful we loved it!!!! Bed was ridiculously comfy...TV came with all channels and there was also a TV in the bath too. We loved the decor! Really clean. Perfect for a cosy night away with parking spaces reserved for superior guests only! We had tea in the Jacobean restaurant which was delicious. (Steak Mexicana & Fish and Chips). I would recommend booking your evening table especially if staying on a Saturday night as the pub/restaurant got full pretty quickly. Breakfast was served the next morning buffet style which was also in the Jacobean restaurant. This was also delicious. Wide variety provided - full English, cereals, toast, yoghurts and fruit service with a choice of fruit juice and water. There was also a hot drinks machine too. We were able to check in at 3pm and check out time is 10:30am which we felt was a little early but non the less, we will definitely be coming back to stay in the suites :-)

« Quiet room, off the main road »

I've been travelling to this area for nearly 40 years and only discovered this hotel because our corporate booking machine told me the usual hotel in Pontefract was full. And what a nice surprise. Large room, fluffy towels, spotless bathroom, lovely breakfast, peaceful night. What more do you need? Definitely be back.

« Stayed for wedding receptin »

We stayed at Rogerthorpe Manor for a wedding reception, the room we stayed in had a smell of drains to it that grew stronger when we had a shower. We reported this to a member of staff on the corridor who came into the room and said she would report it to the manager, nothing was done and we mentioned it to reception the next morning. We were only stayiing one night and wouldnt be in the room only to sleep so I told her it was fine for a night but if I was staying longer I would have wanted to be moved. The staff who help organise the room and the reception were very helpful as were the staff in the Jacobean restaurant all be it some of the guests who were eating there were not, they were very rude to the fact that children were in the restaurant. The check out time was to early I thought 10.30am, breakfast is served from 7.30 to 10.30 which doesnt give you time to have a late relaxing breakfast as you need to pack and clear your room. The gardens were lovely and well kept. Dont think I would stay here again

    « Fabulous new suites,immaculate gardens »

Stayed in the coach house suite 15 when attending a golden wedding celebration. Quiet, very spacious and luxurious. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Food quality and portions excellent. Glad we chose a suite away from main hotel as there were two wedding parties there on one of the two days and we gathered that noise might have been an issue in the main hotel. Hotel gardens a credit to owners -immaculate.

    « Wedding reception »

Our wedding reception at Rogerthorpe manor (Cawthorne suite) was a wonderful day. The staff on the day, from reception to bar, the wait staff as well as the MC were excellent and couldn't do enough for us. The wedding coordinators Karen & Nicola were a credit to the venue from our first meeting to book to the wonderful welcome we received on the day & support they provided through our wedding breakfast. The grounds of the hotel are fantastic and we were lucky enough to have some brilliant weather! The food at both the wedding breakfast and on the evening buffet was excellent - really tasty & was enjoyed by all our guests. The room decoration was also excellent, from the items provided in our package by Rogerthorpe Manor to the decorations taken by myself and kindly put out by the staff. The evening DJ was fantastic and followed our requests to the letter ensuring the music played was what we wanted and also taking requests from guests on the night. Overall, we would highly refommend this venue for an excellent wedding reception venue and hope to attend weddings here in the future.

Nice friendly welcome on arrival. Good comfortable accommodation in a well decorated bedroom. Lovely gardens and surrounding area. Hotel has a delightful old world charm. Food in the Jacobean Pub very good but service a little on the slow side. Reception setting very good with efficient staff, food, while good, was not up to standard expected (lamb shank could not be cut with supplied knives).

    « Wedding Day »

We recently got married at Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel, and had a lovely day. The run up to our wedding and all our queries we had were dealt with professionally buy Karen Hunter and Nicola Farnham, they were extremely helpful. On the day of our wedding the room for the ceremony looked beautiful and everything was just perfect. The gardens are amazing, this was a big part of why we chose Rogerthorpe as our wedding venue. Also the food was fantastic, portion sizes were very good and it taste delicious. Our Master of Ceremonies, Janet, was very helpful and friendly too. Our reception room, The Lawrence Suite, was transformed for the evening reception and it looked great. Everyone had a brilliant day and we have lovely memories to treasure. One of the bar staff called Rebecca was very understanding and forgiving about an awkward guest, she was lovely. There were a few occasions I was spoken to by staff on the reception desk, and their attitude was terrible. I also had some guests inform me they had been told off for asking to get flowers from my room that had been left up there. There was another wedding on the same day as ours and I understand that the bride and groom from each wedding party should not cross paths, but we were unable to leave our room all night. I think the timings of the two weddings were all wrong, once our wedding breakfast and speeches were over we could not go anywhere else in the hotel as the other wedding was ongoing. It seemed they had the run of the whole hotel and could wander wherever, but this was not the case for us. That evening, some guests were also told they should not walk through the conservatory to our reception room and were unsure of another way to go. We were also very disappointed with our bridal suite, when you see brochures or pictures online, you expect the huge room with the large seating area. But when we saw our room it was very small and dark, nothing in comparison to the other bridal suite. It just seems to me that having an early wedding in The Lawrence Suite, which was not cheap, should receive the same service as The Cawthorne wedding. Also, one more thing that really got to me... We were told we had until 11am the following morning to remove our wedding items from the reception room. When we got downstairs we were then informed we only had until 10am as there was another wedding on. Our items were just thrown onto a table in the corner of the room and the remainder of our wedding cake was all squashed. It felt as if we were no longer important guests as our day was done with. Don't get me wrong, our day was beautiful, but there were things that did not go as expected too. I would not recommend holding a wedding there unless you are the only wedding that day or you book The Cawthorne Suite, as they just seemed to have the best of everything.

« An amazing place to stay »

We stopped for just one night as we attended a wedding function - the rooms were clean, tidy with wonderful views over the gardens. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, which is essential as the complex is like a maze and navigating yourself around can be tricky. The food was amazing, especially the breakfast - well done chef.

My partner booked a one night stay here for us for our anniversary. On arrival we were offered an upgrade to one of their suites for an extra £25 which my partner accepted. When we opened the door to our suite we literally both gasped as it was so outstanding. The decor, space, quality and attention to detail was second to none. The bathroom was amazing with aquavision!! We had booked to eat in the restaurant and the food was exceptional. The staff we really attentive. The breakfast next morning was one of the best we have had, with such good choice. Particularly enjoyed the fruit kebabs. All in all it was an experience we will not forget and would love to return again.

    « Stunning Wedding Venue »

We had our wedding at Rogerthorpe Manor yesterday, first of all the garden and grounds are magnificent and make a beautiful setting for wedding pictures. The manor its self is charming and full of character, our guests all said how lovely it was. Then the wedding ceremony, wedding breakfast and wedding reception all ran so smoothly Karen and her team made it look effortless like a well oiled machine. I can not complement Karen and her team enough. All I can say is thank you for making our lovely memories we will cherish them forever and Rogerthorpe Manor will always stay in our hearts.

Arrived late and received a lovely welcome, I was then informed it was prom night for the local school. The event was so well managed I didn't hear a thing. The room was lovely and spacious with everything a tired traveler could want. While not large the grounds are pretty and the views do allow you to forget the cares of the day. Breakfast was also of a high standard and I would happily stay Here again

    « Wedding 29th July »

We got married here on the 29th July 2016, I have to say that the day far exceeded my expectations, staff were impecable, in particular Karen our wedding coordinator who had a particularly picky customer in me, her and the team ensured that every piece of the day was exactly how I wanted it. The food on the day again exceeded expectations, the pork was perfection, hot and moist which is no mean feat en mass, all of our guests commented on how good the food was. Every bit of the day was seamless, well organised and you can tell the staff are happy in their roles, reflected in the impecable service. The rooms are of a high standard, and the new suites are blooming gorgeous!. All in all it was a great day, and we will be back to enjoy the facilities again soon.

    « Got married here »

Hi, we got married here on the 4th August, it was the best day of our life's, I'm not from Yorkshire n my family and friends r messaging me the food was the best they had at a wedding & the venue was so clean n lovely. The staff just couldn't do enough for u from the 1st day we walked in to view it from the day we left as a married couple. On the wedding day all day we had a manager to help us through the day. Our wedding cordantior,s Karen & Nicola well where do I start! They both are absoutley amazing nothing is ever any trouble for them, I know it's they job but it's more of a job to them both. We had a lot more dealings in Nicola, she was absoutley amazing, we found a friend in her. She couldn't do enough for us ever time we meet she would go to that extra mile to make sure it be perfect for us. On the day it was perfect for us. I know you want your wedding day to be perfect cause you worked so hard finically and planning it cause it's probably the biggest day of your life's. And all day to them that worked at rogerthorpe manor it was. Would truly recommend them. We looked everywhere but words can't explain how much rogerthorpe manor made our day perfect for us! Defo suggest to go and have a look, you won't be disappointed!

    « Wedding. »

Good hotel, staff and food. Setting very nice, ideal for a wedding. My main complaint is that having been told that due to a wedding there would be some noise I was not prepared for the torture of the floor nearly bouncing to the bass beat from the disco. Having booked this hotel some time in advance and being in my seventies I thought I may have been put in a room that was not to near to this constant beat, in fact the brides Father on the night of our wedding asked for the sound to be reduced. Although this may sound like sour grapes, some of the guest, I was told where given rooms away from the noise as no other rooms where available in priority to those who had booked many months in advance. This said just ensure if you wish to book this very nice hotel, you are given a room as far away from the function area as possible and are not penalised for booking in advance and loosing out to people who come after you, would stay again subject to best available room away from noise.

« Fab wedding venue but pricey rooms »

Stayed here for two nights for a family wedding. The wedding was arranged perfectly, with input from the bride and groom. There was very little of the hanging around often found at weddings and it was absolutely seamless throughout. 5* for the wedding. I thought the rooms were rather small for the price paid although the buildings, location, gardens and the members of staff we met were lovely. The shower was particularly cramped and I'm not that large so I imagine it could be quite difficult for some people. Breakfast on the first morning was a la carte and quite exceptional, especially the eggs Florentine and the selection was extensive both days with lovely fruit and decent gluten free toast. On the second morning there was a buffet instead - still nice but not as good and for the same rate. I wasn't as impressed with the main meals as other reviewers. I would give the hotel 5* if the rates were lower -I think £20 per night less would be more realistic when compared to many other places I have stayed in but if you're attending a wedding there, options are limited. Having said that it was a brilliant family occasion in beautiful surroundings.

    « Impressive »

Located not too far from the A1 in beautiful tranquil countryside this former Manor House has a positive impact. My room -25 - accessed via a short chicane of corridors and stairs was comfortable, spotlessly clean with bespoke fitted furniture and an open countryside view, which, if you're up early enough, gives a great view of the sunrise. Residents can eat in the hotel lounge bar (recommend the lamb kleftiko minus the tomatoes) which is possibly the better option than having to walk outside, albeit, no great distance to the hotel Jacobean Pub (where an excellent breakfast is also served - recommend eggs florentine). As it's a fairly big site, pity a small gym wasn't available and with all that land around a great opportunity for a golf course......we can all dream....

    « Afternoon Tea »

Went here for afternoon tea. We were served by Mohamed who was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble and he really did look after us. The tea comprised of homemade sandwiches, more than we've had elsewhere, followed by no less than five cakes each and a lovely fruit triffle. Only complaint, the scones were not big enough to use up all the clotted cream and jam. Endless pots of tea, and several different blends to choose from. During our tea, we were never rushed, and managed to clear the tiered cake stand. Was a great afternoon in a superb room lined in oak panelling, we were lucky to have table by window overlooking the gardens. Don't think the fireplace was operational and would take a real log fire, but would be a great centre piece for afternoon tea on a autumn afternoon. Only downside.. the cups and plates were not bone china and the centre table cloth was black. Bearing in mind this is a new venture for Rogerthorpe Manor they've really got it right and priced accordingly. A great afternoon. Thanks

    « Great wedding venue & stay »

Stayed 2 nights in suite 15 (coach house) which is a suite situated at the side of the hotel , free standing ( no noise from other guests , except being woken early Monday morning by the bin men ) and has its own reserved parking space. There is a patio area you can use also . The bedrooms in the suites are huge and ours had a king size bed , which is extremely comfortable , large dressing table but only had a small shaving style mirror which was useless for drying and styling hair in front of etc , big flat screen TV, mood lighting , ipod docking station , tea making facilities with large selection of tea and coffee . There is a dressing area with wardrobe and safe ( though this was broken , reported twice and nothing done about it ) . Dressing gowns , slippers and toiletries provided. Bathroom is large with a big walk in shower , bath complete with its own tv ! The staff are very friendly on reception and in the Jacobean pub dining room . We had an evening meal there and breakfast . Both meals delicious, however I had to ask for more food to be brought out at breakfast as some items had run out . There was no staff about so had to go into the kitchen to let them know . This is a lovely hotel and well worth a stay , we were attending a wedding reception in the hotel which was amazing . Room had the wow factor and very well run and fantastic meal . Drinks extremely expensive at the bar though . Was a lovely treat to stay at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it .

    « Sunday carvery »

Excellent!!!! Not a lot more can be said. It's lovely food at a good price. Staff are pleasant and friendly. Surroundings are superb. I like the fact that there are never lots of children in. Please do not ever build a kiddies play area. The food is cooked just right, cauliflower cheese is really good, parsnips are excellent. I don't like going anywhere else for Sunday carvery. This is always my first choice.

Just had a family wedding at this hotel , and with out a doubt it was first class from start to finish . Me and the groom and three best men stopped the night before in a suit that had 4 double beds , lounge and the toilet and showers were on a mezzanine floor above ( amazing space ) . The staff were brilliant , very helpful and nothing was to much trouble . The day of the wedding continued in the same pattern , the staff brilliant the venue and the food lovely . A lot of the wedding guests stop the night and the hotel rooms were again great , well equipped and the breakfast is varied and plentiful . To some up Great Hotel , Great Venue well worth a stay

« Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel, excellent but expensive »

Paid extra for the executive double room, you may say it was expensive for a 3 star hotel but......wow, what a room! Split level bedroom, massive TV, walk in wardrobe, walk in shower big enough for 6, fabulous so combined with an excellent meal, as a treat this hotel & surroundings rank as one of the best I have ever stayed in. Highly recommended

    « Exceptional food »

My husband and I visited this evening and the food was exceptional. The menu has plenty of variety for everyone. The meat on the mixed grill was cooked to perfection. Staff are very helpful and friendly and they also have different theme nights throughout the month which looked really good value for money. I've also been to Sunday carvery which is the best in the area with a constant supply of fresh food. Lovely location, I highly recommend.

« Rogerthorpe - Great staff and amazing food »

I have stayed in this hotel a few times now. This is honestly the best hotel experience I have had in many years. Rogerthorpe has warm and welcoming staff, and the food is some of the best food I've ever had in a hotel. The rooms all have similar decor, but I've yet to stay in the same layout room yet. (some are very quirky and the Manor is very old) I will be back many times.

« Attentive service and excellent food »

Have been to the Jacobean Pub at the hotel for the past two Saturday evenings with eight other friends. Had to book but it was well worth the time and effort on both occasions. The service e from all staff was second to none, the food was excellent and very tasty, we had a variety of different meals and all of them were excellent. Not often I say that as we are a very discerning crowd who enjoy our food, eat like horses and enjoy each others company at different venues every weekend. So to say we went to this eatery two weeks in succession shows it was a good experience and well worth repeating. We will be trying somewhere different this weekend but we will be back at Rogerthorpe again in the near future.

« Great Place to stay »

Stayed here for one night on business, beautiful grounds as you arrive with a number of follies and arches around, see why it would be popular for weddings with the photo opportunities. Standard Room was functional clean and had all the necessary amenities, reception staff were helpful and polite. The Jacobean pub on site is welcoming, airy and the food was excellent and good value, I had the Lamb Kleftiko which I would highly recommend. Only slight disappointment - no real ale.

We went for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago.We all had the carvery and was very disappointed, the meat was good but the rest of it was well below par.The veg was not very hot ,tasteless and did not look good. One of us wanted a cheese board for dessert ,but they had no cheese,[baring in mind this is also a hotel].I wanted a Latte and was told the machine was out of order.Would not go again. It is situated in beautiful ground and beautiful veiws. But it ends there

    « Birhtday treat »

The visit was for my husband's 71st birthday and I booked expecting a restaurant but its another hotel where the restaurant doesn't open during the week. Disappointed but the food served in the Jacobean Bar made up for it. The food was very well cooked and well presented - the best roast potatoes I have ever had. Crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. My husband had belly pork and told me that there was stuffing which hadn't been mentioned on the menu so I was pleased with my choice of Haddock Mornay with a very subtle cheese sauce. We chose the Senior 2 course menu knowing we don't have the appetite of our younger days but there was plenty. My husband had the Leek and Potato soup which he really enjoyed but I followed my main with profiteroles which finished the meal perfectly. My husband drank a couple of the beers whilst I had a couple of glasses of Pinot Grigio. We moved out of the Bar and into the residents bar as there was a quiz and had another couple of drinks. This is where they lost the fifth rating. The room itself was very nice but it is a long time since we were in a hotel where the double room was actually a double (although I booked a twin room online) The bed wasn't very comfortable and although they offered a pillow menu by the time we realised what the pillows were like we felt it was too late to be phoning reception for alternatives There were 2 very soft pillows and 2 very firm - neither option was suitable for us so we didn't sleep very well. There is very little road noise or noise from other guests even though we were based at the top of the stairs. Would like to thank Claire and Mohammed for the excellent service they provided in the Jacobean Bar and the chef who made the roast potatoes. We checked out at 7.00am(eventually) as the staff struggled to access the correct programme on the computer - not very professional. We may go back for the food but probably not to stay

This is an excellent location, that's my first point, the staff were also on top form and could not do enough for us. Fab hotel, great food, ok the drinks are a little on the expensive side but that's par for the course these days for a top notch hotel. We visited as wedding guests and we were impressed by the friendly welcome given by all the staff. The grounds and the rooms allocated were all very well presented and the whole occasion flowed well. The food served was delicious, hot and well presented, only let down by a poor quality perry served for the toast. Cheap Babycham type drink did not sit well with the image presented by the hotel, cava would have been perfect! The wedding party were all well looked after and the communal areas of the hotel all looked smart and welcoming.

    « 5 STAR HOTEL - THE SUITES @ THE MANOR »

Rogerthorpe was a great venue to get married in 2001 and we thought it would be great to revisit to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We were advised to book the new superior suites that were now available, so we follow that advice. Leading busy lives we did not get the chance to check out the new suites and as a result we were totally amazed when we arrived and saw the suite. We had been looking for a good venue for our friends visiting from Australia to celebrate New Years Eve and now we have found it we have promptly booked it. Well done Rogerthorpe - You should be proud!!

    « Our wedding- Brilliant »

Where do I begin with this place? Great staff, great food and extremely accommodating. The grounds are brilliant, everyone that attended our wedding thoroughly enjoyed it. We had both our ceremony and evening do here. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff (I know we had paid a lot of money) but still they went bone and beyond. We had numerous rooms booked out and breakfast the next day was also good quality.

« Over priced and average. »

Exceptionally over priced, poor customer service, inflexible, out to 'upswell' on everything, below average decor and low grade food. I was charged £125 for one for the 'privilege' of staying at this hotel for 1 night I would suggest a maximum rate of £60 for 2 people, is more in line with the grade of the hotel and what they offer. Whilst I use the services of tripadviser regularly, I am not in the habit of writing reviews, however after my recent, below average, over priced experience of Rogerthorpe Manor I felt the need to share my experience as it is wrong that hotels should be allowed to take advantage of their customers by charging exorbitant rates whilst offering a such poor quality experience. Firstly I chose to book through booking.com as to book through the hotel would require payment in full and up front, no matter how far in advance you book. In my 12 years of travelling the world I have only ever once had to pay for a hotel room upfront -my first experience of this turned out to be an exceptionally poor hostel in my early days of travel. For me any company which charges their customers for services upfront suggests a lack of confidence in the customer experience they are planning to provide, and is certainly not in character for the type of hotel Rogerthorpe promote themselves as, retrospectively I should have taken heed and booked elsewhere. Secondly, check in is at 3:30pm. As I was attending a wedding in the area, I rang the hotel to enquire as to whether or not the room would be available earlier for me to get ready in. Again, something I have often asked of a hotel in the past and all other hotels have offered the room early should it be available. There was no mention of this when I rang, only that if I wanted to check in early I would need to pay an additional charge. Given I was already paying £125 for one night, single occupancy, I was not prepared to pay additional cost, and ended up getting ready at the hotel where the wedding was - The Wentbridge, and where I very sadly was unable to get a room, due to full occupancy. For the same same price I would highly recommend staying here should you have a choice, customer service, food and rooms far surpassed Rogerthorpe. Thirdly, the room I stayed in was of very average decor, the bed small, ok for 1 but would be very tight for 2, had a minimal view, and the view there was, was blocked by film on the window and the lighting was atrocious. Whilst appreciating the hotel have consciously gone down the sustainable and cost saving route by installing LED lighting, it is all flourescent in tone and creates a 'cheap' and harsh effect throughout, is horrendously bright and does not allow you to dim or tone down the lighting in the bedroom or bathroom. Opting for warm LED fittings, it won't improve the decor, but it will help with the ambience And light levels. Arriving back late from my evening out, I was looking forward to a lie in, unfortunately I was awoken by what sounded like drilling at 7am on a Sunday morning. When I mentioned this to the staff, they looked at me blankly and said well there are no workers on site, thenoise must have been another guest. Staff were unapologetic or willing to take any responsibility for me being awoken by noise on site, again not the response I was expecting from the type of hotel Rogerthrope are parading to be. As I was at the back of the hotel, had I still been asleep at 9am i certainly wouldn't be any more as the bottles from the previous night get disposed of from 9am making an almighty racket! Again unthoughtful and ill considered. There are no mobile phone chargers on site should you need to borrow one, not even one you could plug your phone into at reception. Apparently they 'can't trust their customers with spare chargers.' Finally Apparently booking on a third party website means Breakfast is not included, even though booking direct it is. As I had especially not gone direct because I didn't agree with their upfront payment policy, I don't feel I should be penalised. Again apparently this is something I should have known and apparently 'no fault of the hotel' although I would expect the hotel to monitor what their third party suppliers are doing and take responsibility for this. For £125 a night in the middle of Yorkshire, one would expect breakfast and a very good one at that. It was not included, and was not offered to be included even when I raised it with staff. Irrespective that adding breakfast into my stay was an impossibility according to staff, I note that the breakfast was of poor, banquest style standard. Again neither of these things should be expected from a hotel with such high rates. And certainly was not the experience at the Wentbridge up the road, where a full continental spread and made to order breakfast was served. Overall a very poor and over priced experience. I would not recommend staying here for any purpose.

« Wedding at nearby hotel »

We were looking forward to our visit. Doreen rang the week before to say we hadn't been informed that they had 2 weddings at the hotel the day we were staying. We were offered an upgrade at no extra cost to a superior suite. The room was lovely and you felt you were in an establishment that could charge £155 for one night with breakfast (we are in the middle of nowhere in the Yorkshire countryside not Leeds or any other metropolis) Unfortunately due to the late check in time 3pm ..although the reception staff were lovely ...we were offered the disabled toilet to change in (2adults) not great ... Bedroom lovely when we got to it after the wedding. We went to in a neighbouring village (Wentbridge house hotel) Disappointingly the breakfast was all in hot trays ... Served 730 until 1030 ... Ok if you want to be up early but at the high cost of an overnight stay it was more like a travel lodge breakfast ??.My cousin had booked through booking.com and she paid £125 for a room in the hotel that couldn't be classed as a true double and then she wasn't allowed breakfast .... As I have said on a Sunday morning there is little choice in the area... should be nearer £100 a night and for my cousins room about £60. It's a shame ... Had a fab night in Whitby in height of season with a beautiful breakfast included in the cost cooked/prepped to order and not as costly although same star rating ... The poor quality breakfast didn't reflect the quality of the Suite! Big chain hotels need to make more effort!!!!!

    « Wedding 2nd April »

Had an amazing day on Saturday everyone we met was fantastic and worked so hard to make our day perfect from start to finish. Karen was brilliant and so helpful from the moment we booked till when she left after the Wedding. Food was better than I imagined so good and filling that I couldn't eat any of the evening hog roast as was still full from the wedding breakfast. I want to say a big thank you to the bar staff for putting up with my tipsy bridesmaids even being dragged into the end of night dancing! I stayed 2 nights and both mornings breakfast was brilliant Janice and the ladies in the restaurants remembered me and we're lovely. We will be returning for our first anniversary maybe we'll stay in one of the suites!

    « Great Value Lunch »

We meet old friends every six weeks or so and as we live in various partys of Yorkshire we choose a venue when one of our friends is the host. This tiome we visited Rogertsthorpe Manor, we were told they did a Senior Citizens lunch, so we all met at the hotel on Saturday for lunch. The welcome was very friendly and we were given the menu, usually when Restaurants do a Senior lunch the menu is very limited, NOT HERE. The hotel offer a really good deal, 2 courses + coffee £10. The starters offered a wide choice, and the mains are very varied from belly pork, steak pie to haddock mornay. The food was great served with lots of vegetables, various potatoes and generous portions. We were all delighted with our choices and enjoyed to food. We will certainly revisit, hopefully the price will not go up (too much).

« Great to be upgraded »

The upgrade ensured that we had a beautiful suite of rooms for our overnight stay. The facilities could not have been better. I wish we could have stayed longer. A magnificent building with great facilities for weddings and other functions. The restaurant/bar was very disappointing. We were forced to order food to eat before 5.30pm, because our visit coincided with Easter Monday. The restaurant acted as a gastro pub, for the local area and was not of the standard that would be expected for a hotel of this grade. Breakfast was also in the bar area and despite the food being cooked and presented well we were disappointed by the service and presentation. Reception staff were excellent.

    « Delightful afternoon tea »

We visited Rogerthorpe Manor this afternoon for afternoon tea. This was a Mother's Day present from my daughter. I went with my daughter and my 17 month old grandaughter. My daughter is vegan, my granddaughter is dairy free and I'm vegetarian. We did let them know in advance but they catered for all our dietary needs. The staff were brilliant - so helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. My daughter was initially disappointed that they had not realised that she needed soya milk for her hot drink even though she had ordered a vegan afternoon tea. They were so apologetic and sent someone out to buy soya milk. The food was lovely and plenty of it. The staff were excellent and were especially good with my granddaughter. She really enjoyed it. The Oak Room was just the right size room to serve afternoon tea and had a nice atmosphere. We had the prosecco afternoon tea and the individual bottles of pink or white prosecco were a lovely touch. I have been to many venues for afternoon tea and this was the best one outside of The Ritz! I would definitely recommend

    « Friends family wedding »

We stayed here on April the first, we stayed in the brand new bedroom block which we can only say was very comfortable and justified in being called a superior suite, there was a king sized, very comfortable lounge area then upstairs there was a shower cubicle separate WC and a large freestanding bath with TV. It had plenty of space and room, there is plenty of storage space as well. Breakfast was very good as well plenty of variety and hot when required to be. Staff very helpful. Well worth a visit. We only wish we had stayed for a few days and not just 1 night.

    « Captive Market »

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel whilst attending a (one or many) wedding(s taking place that weekend). I had to book the room a year in advance, and pay in full at that time. This should generate another few %age profit for them, but is not how I expect business to be done these days. As a weeding and function venue they have a captive market and consequently do not have to try too hard, so they don't! Everything was more or less adequate! The food, even at the reception, was OK. Breakfast one day was served and self service the next. The full English did not include Black, or Yorkshire specialty White, pudding; with portions being on the small side when served. There were sufficient people at the bar during the reception, but it became obvious that staff training and/or monitoring was not all that it should be. As a captive audience we were captive to highish prices. The icing on the cake was the 10:30 checkout! (Despite losing an hour overnight as the clocks went back.) As captives we were of no more use or profit to them and so we were got rid of. (When replying, please don't mention the additional fee for a late checkout as the rooms were overpriced anyway.) All in all, if you are attending a function you might have no choice. If you do have a choice I am sure you can do much better, at a lower price, nearby elsewhere.

    « Lazy Sunday »

Stayed on the Lazy Sunday offer, fabulous food as always, never had any complaint! The Jacobean was very busy all day serving the excellent carvery. Our room was upgraded to a suite free of charge which was lovely, comfortable & very clean, thank you. Really friendly staff that always go out of their way to serve & they are always very polite, nothing is too much trouble. The grounds are peaceful, beautiful & well cared for, stunning infact especially in the sunshine. Thanks again ?

    « Positive Experience »

Having stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions, everyone has been a positive experience. The minute you arrive you feel welcome and the staff are all helpful and professional. The food served in both the main hotel bar and the Jacobean Pub attached is always freshly cooked to a high standard and is excellent value for money. My trips have always been on business, but I would have no hesitation in using this Hotel for a family getaway.

« Travelled Forty miles to meet friends in the Jacobean Pub »

As our usual venue at the Blue Bell in Wentbridge was closed. We took advantage of the Senior Citizens menu at £9.95 each for two courses and tea or coffee and it was very very good. I had the steak pie my wife haddock, and friends the lamb shoulder and starters of battered mushrooms, fish cake and melon, none of us could fault it. Service was efficient and friendly and we will be going again in a couple of months. The drive was worth it.

    « Restaurant »

Food in this hotel is of a very good standard. We had the pensioners special lunch which was very good value for money, a two course or three course is available, for 4adults £32.00.i would be very happy to go again when in the area. Other members of my family had Christmas dinner there and were very impressed. Sunday lunch carvery is also available and is very good.

« Family party at the Rogerthorpe »

Had a 90th birthday family meal at the Rogerthorpe last weekend. The staff were amazing and very accommodating. From letting us put a few balloons up to supplying a little table for the cake and present. Nothing was too much trouble. The good was delicious and we didn't have to wait long even with 26 of us. Would recommend.

The Rogerthorpe Manor, is the hotel i've stayed at more than any other hotel. It is a wonderful place to stay, the staff are very friendly, and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. The attached Jacobean pub, is great place to spend an evening or have a meal. The hotel can cater for weddings, conferances, meetings. It is a hotel I would fully recomend and will be staying at again. I am a member of my works national negotiating committee. we use a couple of rooms there for meetings at least once a year.I look forward to my next visit.

Lying close to the A1, but away from the noise, this beautiful hotel is screaming place to stay. Friendly staff, old world decor, wonderful food. The grounds in particular are amazing. A brilliant place for a wedding or special occasion.

    « Fantastic wedding venue! »

We got married here on 23rd January 2016 and everything was perfect, from beginning to end not a single detail was left to chance, and the team at Rogerthorpe were amazing. The organisation from Karen, our wedding coordinator was spot on, and the food at the Wedding Breakfast was superb, with many guests saying it was the best they'd experienced at a wedding. The night do was every bit as good, with everything going to plan. The food at our night do was also lovely. The bedrooms were spacious, clean and well looked after. All of the staff, from management team to bar staff and waitresses were all friendly and welcoming. Thank you so much for making the most important day of our lives so enjoyable. Would highly recommend.

« Crap service if you go for the carvery »

Arrived and and walked into a packed room. The que for the bar was very long and no seating. Was told a long waiting list for the carvery but told a quick turn around. Waited over an hour in a hot packed room. No seating for people waiting . Dinner was nice but not worth the wait.

    « Lovely Valentines Treat »

We stayed in this hotel after finding an offer on Facebook. £60 for dinner bed and breakfast. The rooms were lovely, food fantastic (we dined in the 1610 Steak restaurant) and service excellent. Would definitely return.

    « 'Yorkshire's Best Sunday Roast' »

I am well known for my family 'Sunday Dinners', apparently they are legendary, but the Sunday Roast I have tasted today at the Rogerthorpe Jacobean Pub was superb, there was absolutely nothing that could have been any better. It was perfect, the beef was melt in your mouth, their was a good selection of potatoes and vegetables, which were cooked just right, all the trimmings were available, pigs in blankets, stuffing, Yorkshire puddings, choice of gravy and all the sauces. the beer is good too apparently. The staff were so helpful, and John went the extra mile with his attention to detail in his approach to customer service. I would highly recommend this venue, even at 5pm the food is still hot, very fresh and the service is the best I have had in a long time, congratulations Rogerthorpe, see you again soon-and no washing up-priceless.

    « Our Daughters Wedding »

We have just returned from our daughters wedding, reception, evening party and a nights stay at Rogerthorpe. I would like to say a a heart felt thank you to all the staff who helped make the day happen. It was amazing from start to finish. The wedding was well orchestrated and flowed smoothly onto the wedding breakfast and evening reception. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and the food was excellent. The feedback we received from other guests confirmed that they felt the same and the majority of them said they had never had such good quality food served piping hot and all on time at a large function. The rooms were lovely and everyone we spoke to had a good nights sleep. The rooms above the function room were a bit noisy but as most of our guests stayed until the party ended it wasn't a problem. Breakfast was buffet style, plentiful an delicious. I would definitely recommend Rogerthorpe Manor to anyone as a venue for that special day.

    « Good hotel »

We received a friendly welcome. Our bedroom was well appointed but the downside was the bed was quite small and uncomfortable. The food served in the restaurant was good quality and well served by friendly staff. Breakfast was great. Value for money.

« Amazing hotel and staff »

We have chosen Rogerthorpe Manor for our wedding venue in August 2016 and have just got home from our complimentary nights stay. The rooms are excellent and the staff are amazing. We ate in the Jacobean pub. The food was delicious and Clare who was working behind the bar made us feel very welcome as did the rest of the staff. The hotel is amazing and we can not wait for our big day there, you are certainly made to feel part of the hotel family. Thank you Rogerthorpe Manor for our delightful stay.

    4
    « Enjoyable visit »

Service was good and our room was clean, spacious and adequately provided for although the bed was a bit on the small side being a double. The location and grounds are fabulous and van understand why it is such a popular venue for weddings. The shower in our room was a little weak and it would be certainly be an improvement if there was a power shower installed. The TV reception in the room was intermittent but we only watched tv whilst getting ready. If we were in the room for any length of time this would have been a problem as it was frustrating. The room rate was not the cheapest and we were a little disappointed that breakfast was not included in the price. Overall we were satisfied with our stay and would return.

    « Super hotel »

We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a delightful suite which was really very nicely appointed . The staff were excellent .We ate in the Jacobean Restaurant in the evening which we can recommend . The only thing which could have improved the stay for us was the bed.... Very comfortable but for us a standard double is a little cramped and a king size would make the room perfect . Apart from that we couldn't fault our stay . Thanks to the Rogerthorpe Manor !

« Lovely family Christmas meal »

We hold our annual family get together at Rogerthorpe Manor each December and have always found the food, venue and service to be fabulous. This year was no exception with a pleasant greeting upon arrival directing us to the correct room which was beautifully set out for Christmas. Dinner was served as a traditional carvery with a good selection of meat, vegetables and other accompaniments - between us we sampled all possible combinations and were too full for seconds. Dessert was traditional Christmas pudding, strawberry cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding or chocolate fudge cake - all of which were delicious. Lovely venue and great food again with next year already booked.

« Our Wedding and overnight stay »

We chose Rogerthorpe Manor for our Wedding and it was the best decision we ever made. Perfect from start to finish. The food was excellent, all the rooms decorated to a high standard. The staff were friendly, efficient and kept us well informed throught out the day. All family members were well looked after over the two days. The gardens are beautiful. I can't fault the hotel and will definitely be going back. Karen and Nicola who co-ordinated our wedding were friendly, efficient, totally on the ball prompting us with the itinerary and finalising. They were very flexible meeting our requirements and gave excellent recommendations for florists, cake, venue decoration etc. All I can say is thank you, thank you - they helped make our day/weekend very special.

    « Disappointed »

This was a birthday celebration, and we were looking forward to eating in the restaurant . We had to eat in the Jacobean Pub where we had to order our food at the bar. we have eaten here many times so it spoilt the specialness of the evening, Also there was nowhere to enjoy a pre dinner drink or after dinner coffee and brandy.

    « £25 for bean casserole! »

Just been here for our works annual Christmas party, it cost £25 for a main course and dessert with disco. I was looking forward to some appetising food after hearing all the fantastic comments about this establishment, but oh dear- what a disappointment! My vegetarian main meal consisted of half a jacket potato, one spoon each of rice and five bean casserole, some lettuce and coleslaw, followed by a cheesecake no bigger than a cupcake £25?£25! Seriously? Surely if the vegetarian option only consists of beans and starch they can lower the price a bit? I am gobsmacked after perusing the menu online and seeing that a cheese and onion tartlet sells for £8.95, so why was a pile of beans and a disco £25? I can buy a tin of organic beans for 75p add that to some tomatoes and you have Rogerthorpe Manor's vegetarian option. The establishment itself was very clean and well presented and the Christmas decor very tasteful, unlike the bland food. Needless to say, I won't be returning for another Christmas casserole.

Great Hotel, very freindly and efficent staff. Hotel room did not suffer from usual light leaks which I find hard to sleep with. Very quiet. Busy pub on site but also quieter lounge for residents. Near the A1 but in the country so no road noise.

    « Great best western »

Having stayed at many GBW hotels this is definitely one of the top ones. All staff very friendly and welcoming. Room spotless and good shower. Breakfast very good, and served in the hotels pub where we had a great dinner with well prepared and cooked food at a very good price. Restaurant is obviously popular with locals as it was jammed on a wet Wednesday night. Nice place and if I was in the area again would be my first choice.

« DeLacy Lodge Ladies Night »

Warm welcome on arrival, check in was swift and so was check out, function suite was decorated to a very high standard. The menu for the event had a great selection and was reasonably priced. The service was quick and well organised and the food was excellent and hot. Attention to the little things make such a difference, sauces were plentiful and the service staff were helpful and smartly dressed and under the control of a very experienced professional manager. The room we stayed in overnight (9) was of a very high standard (although the shower head blew off and we couldn't refit it didn't impede our enjoyment one bit so we didn't feel the need to mention it). The Breakfast was of an extremely high standard with the largest choice I think we've ever had. How this Hotel does not get five stars every time is a puzzle to us as we have never been disappointed and now look forward to our yearly events even more. Keep up the good work, great hotel, great night, great breakfast.

    « Wedding Stay »

I visited the Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel as Best Man for my mates Wedding in September. There is plenty of car parking and lovely hotel grounds. The hotel is situated off a quiet country road and overlooks some lovely Yorkshire countryside. The staff throughout my whole stay were attentive, friendly, helpful and made you feel welcome. All involved in the planning and overseeing of the Richards wedding on Sunday September 20th deserve a special mention! I stayed in Room 2 and this was a lovely large room, made up of a few different rooms. The bathroom was large with bath and shower. The room had a very comfortable bed, 2 x TV's and air conditioning amongst other amenities. Breakfast was lovely and cooked to order in the morning, Would whole heartedly recommend this hotel.

    « wonderful food & lovely hotel »

We are struggling to the think of a better meal we have had in any hotel. The food in the pub attached to the hotel was delicious & a very good size portion. My husband had the lamb chop special & said they were the best he had tasted for a long time. Breakfast didn't disappoint either, with a selection & quality to rival any 5 star hotel. The hotel is in lovely countryside setting& the grounds/flowers are beautifully kept. We will certainly be returning next time we are in the area.
