Resumen de la reserva
This trip was strictly a leisure activity event myself and my wife decided to take our kids on we had a great time enjoying the pool and the view we had agreed it would have been more enjoyable if there was a complimentary breakfast but maybe in due time thanks
General location was great for our needs. Hotel is run down and rooms need to be updated. Stains on sheets and towels. Room was not cleaned our 2nd night or given clean towels. We were harassed by other guests in the hotel that were addicts being housed there. Hotel should advertise that they house subsidized living. We were afraid to walk down the hall in the lobby to use the washroom. No management on site for 4 days straight to deal with any emergencies. There was a strong smell of smoke in one area. The price of this hotel is not worth what you get, it was absolutely absurd what we were charged for all the issues that arised. We will definately not be returning.
This is a very clean establishment. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Lots of free parking. Good having a restaurant attached to the hotel. Have stayed here before and would again.
Fire alarm at 3am - somebody got drunk, spilled alcohol around and set up fire, according to receptionist next day. People were evacuated and waited outside until 4 am while firefighters checked building. We were allowed to return to our rooms after. Strong smell of smoke from ventilation not very comfortable to sleep with... 1 day Internet did not work due to issues from Rogers. Had 3 stays at this hotel last year - always were issues with wi-fi Internet. Bad coverage in the second building located further away from Robertson street. If we do not consider fire event - quite average and old hotel, I would say motel, needs renovation. Location is good - gas station, plaza with several restaurants and Metro/LCBO etc within walking distance just across the road. Breakfast is good. Restaurant is ok. Adult massage parlor is 30m away. But it is quite, no issues from that side :)
My girlfriend and her child got horribly bitten during our 2-night stay here. My girlfriend also had a terrible allergic reaction to the bed bug bites, requiring a trip to the hospital. When brought to the attention of the staff at the front desk, nothing was done and she seemed very dismissive stating simply "I will pass the information on".
Fridge and microwave? Not really. Fridge yes - microwave communal - situated in hallway beside elevator. Pool? When we got there it was closed for a private function. Later evening when open, the pool room was uncomfortably warm and humid, water felt like bath water, shower just spewed out hot water and there were no towels. Air conditioning? Our air conditioner was not working. Bathroom? Sink was very slow to drain and only two bath towels for a double queen room. One itty bitty bottle of shampoo/conditioner and lotion. Breakfast? Not that we were made aware of. Cleanliness? Furniture has visible layers of dust and dresser/table felt sticky. Noise? 30-40 children on floor. Doors constantly slamming, shrieking, running up and down hall. We did not sleep well. Older hotel, needs updating, a thorough cleaning and why on earth would they book so many rooms filled with children without adequate adult supervision? Do other guest's ability to relax and sleep well mean that little? Oh the almighty dollar!
We found our room filthy. The sofa was so dirty. We asked for a sheet to cover it up because we didn't want to sit on it. It was marketed as a double sofa, bed, but in fact, it was for a single. It had every spring imaginable sticking up through the thin mattress. It was almost as though every where you looked, something wasn't working. The room was dark, dingy, over looked at the pool. They did not enforce people using the pool within the time allowed 10 PM to 8 AM. So there was constant excessive noise disturbing our attempts to sleep. There is a group of teenagers staying, and they were running up and down the halls, yelling and converting so there was no escape from any noise. The heating cooling system was erratic and was either frigid or hot, no in between. we were moved rooms two times and there was not enough compensation for those inconveniences. I highly recommend avoiding this hotel.
You have to have an American address in order to use the app. Ridiculous. Never going back until charging is free, like it used to be there. If they want to attract owners with ev cars, charging, like it was before, must be free.
The night desk woman was AMAZING. We had an unplanned stay, called at 1:30 am, she was the only person who would accommodate us. She provided us with a fantastic room, excellent price, and made me feel so much better in the midst of a stressful evening. The bed was comfy, the room was clean and the stay was quiet. I wish we had time to take advantage of the facilities but we were on our way early the next morning.
Upon check-in, I was not greeted at all, but was simply just asked for my identification. My room had urine on the toilet base. I addressed this to the lovely front desk attendant. She was trying her best to be helpful and offered me a room change, which was a cleaner room. However, I declined as we had way too much hockey that day so I just asked for the room to be clean and the urine was still at the toilet base. The furniture was broken, scratched, and in poor shape. I really did not enjoy my stay at all, and just wanted to go home. The rooms are very old and extremely tired.
Rated as a 2 star but I think it should be 3-4 stars. Very nice pool. Clean quiet comfortable rooms. Very nice staff. Furniture a bit dated but not a problem. A great bargain for what you get. Strongly recommend it for couples and families.
I found the location to be easy to find. I did not experience any safety concerns. The parking was easy and readily available. The only downside was a faulty heating system. The room never did warm up and the heater was really loud.
It was a very friendly hotel with good service and value for money! We went with a team and the kids loved their experience and the pool. It is very well located with so many restaurants at walking distance.
The exterior of the hotel needs to be updated, however, the rooms were very clean, renovated and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were all excellent, we lucked out having such an a amazing young lady at the front desk who was so friendly and very accommodating. My son had a hockey tournament in Ottawa and it's fair to say we have stayed in many many hotels, this was the most convenient, comfortable stay.
My adult kids were put at one end of he building on the main floors and I was put at the opposite end of the building on the seond floor. maybe they thought that was funny. No point in calling the Front Desk because no one answers the phone. The bar/restaurant attached provided a cold over-cooked breakfast that was barely edible. Never again! And it was over-priced at $160-170 per night.
Dated exterior. Sketchy people living there. Lots of cigarette butts all over property. Lots of weed smoking near doors. Unable to use our patio because stoned/ wasted people trying to come over. Curtains had to be closed. Loud excessive swearing by people into the night and woken up last morning by extremely loud swearing and items being trashed. Cigarette and weed noticeable in hallway. No complimentary breakfast . We started going to Best Westerns because of the complimentary breakfasts when kids were younger. Heated pool cold.
Our suite was very nice and very clean. All Staff were amazing, friendly, caring and went above & beyond in all ways! The restaurant/bar in the motel, had great service, great prices and lots of fun and laughs!visiting with everyone there!
Fantastic, accommodating staff....clean room and enjoyable pool. A great place to stay overnight or for a quick overnight getaway. Great location. Do visit the adjoining restaurant for great friendly staff, awesome food and a fun atmosphere.
All members of the Best Western Hotel were very helpful and accommodating to our needs. A very pleasant stay. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and relatives. The restaurant served very good food and were cheerful and upbeat.
stayed here august 2022. exterior is messy and run down needs a lot of work. room was clean and comfortable, when i booked online were told breakfast was included. it was not. breakfast was available at an attached pub for 11.00 per person. we used best western points 24000, other best westerns in ottawa same rate, much better told no cost, but when i got home there was a charge on my card of 35.00 for city tax. this was never mentioned, on our trip we stayed at four hotels three were best western. this was not even close to the others in value I don"t know how this hotel got a 3.5 rating. it is no better than a 2 star in cuba.i will never stay here again. if you are wise you will look at the other best western properties in Ottawa. at the front desk i often waited 5 minutes or more while staff were on the phone. deal with the paying customer in front of you first, put people with questions on hold.one time when i had a question i waited through three lengthy phone calls before being served
The tv and phone did not work. The knob for the shower was broken and all there was was a screw to turn it on and off. You could not adjust the temperature. The canopy over the outside stairs is falling apart and in need of serious repair. There were several loud young men in the pool room shouting and roughhousing and nothing was done. Best Western standards have seriously gone downhill.
We were very pleased with our last minute booking. Staff was pleasant and very helpful. The room was very clean and bed extremely comfortable. There was no breakfast but was close to everything. We would stay again and recommend it to others. Because it's an older building there was a slight smell of cigarette but febreeze took care it.
I usually book with BW on Carling but this time I chose BW Kanata , and my few nights stay was just great. From the time of booking IN to the time of booking OUT . The staff at front desk and Housekeeping Staff were all so very kind and helpful...The room I was given was veryyyyyyyy clean including the bathroom , well done Housekeeping. I went on the Friday that ROGERS was down countrywide and the Front Desk had to do everyone manually and they did a wonderful job at tending to everyone coming in to register...Kudos....YES I would recommend this Hotel...Yes I would come back....Generally I dont like Hotel beds , but I had a great nights sleep here at BW Kanata...
The beds are very soft and comfy and having a pool is a big plus! There is LCBO, supermarket and abundant restaurants within walking distance. We loved the Tim Hortons (drive thru small) across the street!
We travelled to Ottawa to see a concert at the Canadian Tire Centre - 13 minutes away apprx. The front desk staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a ground floor room, that while clean, could use a few touch-ups in terms of general wear and tear. The little outdoor patio was a nice addition, but again, could use some light maintenance - not a deal breaker. The beds were comfortable we appreciated the fridge, TV and ample storage space. The "High Five" Sports Pub attached to the hotel, is a MUST! We will return, if just to dine at the pub again. Large and varied menu - everything fresh and tasty! We had a burger and wrap, and a pizza to go for after the concert - we loved it all. Breakfast the next day (purchased with room) was great - very tasty hash browns. Next time, I'm trying the eggs benny! Overall, the hotel was clean. Indoor pool looked fabulous, but did not have a chance to go in. Side note: take an uber to and from concert if not driving. A taxi was called to get us there, but impossible to get one back. We ended up sharing an uber back with other hotel guests we met.
Concrete sidewalks broken and bad condition some flip . One broke and we injured our ankle we reported and nothing done Not Covid clean not following their posted guidelines handle dirty decor pillows it says they clean high touch and remove pillows The worst is hurting yourself on their breaking concrete No response Want refund no response from management
The lady on the front desk was nice and the room was very clean. The rest is terrible. I have not stayed in a room so old and outdated in 40 years. The A/C was making so much noise I couldn't sleep. Finally banged on it , which helped. The outside looks old, the lobby looks ancient and the rooms are ancient. Terrible !!!!!!
Safiq and his team are amazing. They are interested in their guests success. We are a training business that travels Canada and have offered our program here many times with nothing but professional, assistance and set up. Plan to be back once again later this year.
Paper thin walls. Large stain on the mattress cover, exterior has broken steps that flip if you step on them, garbage from previous guests found under the couch, mirror was splattered. The list goes on. We bought blankets in from the car to sleep on. The power was out and the staff was so helpful but run off her feet because even with a fully booked hotel, and a major incident, management didn't feel it necessary to call in more staffing so there was one person left to do everything with no power and a full hotel. One person!! That was the worst part. When someone does that to hard working staff, you know they don't care much about their guests either.
Avoid this hotel at all costs. Multiple problems that were never addressed. Poor service, rooms not cleaned on a daily basis, safety lights and exit lights non-functional, sofa bed so poor my daughter couldn't even sleep on it and resorted to sleeping on the floor on the sofa/chair cushions. I'm still waiting for management to follow-up with me and am not hopeful that I will ever receive a call.
Visited for one night in May. Sadly it was during a power outage which obviously the hotel couldn't do anything about. Our problem with our visit was that our hotel room REEKED of fresh cigarette smoke. Talking to the desk, it sounds like they do have issues with people smoking in rooms.
Our office relocated temporarily to this hotel. It was supposed to be for one month. It ended up being over 5 months. Safiq was simply amazing - he checked on us everyday to ensure we had everything we needed. Adam at the front desk was very helpful and also made sure we were looked after. Ershad (forgive mis-spelling - he is the housekeeping manager) was wonderful - anytime we asked for something, he always managed to get it for us, whether it was a kettle, or an extension cord! Highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
Good value for your money - Great location close to large shopping mall Bayshore - Excellent Small restaurant attached with great breakfast, lunch and dinner with a small bar - Clean quite room which has been updated in the last few years.
Updated, clean, cute, extremly friendly staff and service, and a beautiful sparkling pool! and if you need a snack and beverage drop into High Five Bar off the Lobby! Wonderful stay, EXCELLENT for the PRICE!!!
Stayed 2 nights. Clean room zero perks. Communal microwave located by the ice machine. Fridge barely worked. No carafe of coffee available. If you're crashing and going. It's ok-ish. To actually stay? I'd Move on.
Hotel was clean and cozy and staff were amazing. Attached restaurant is okay if you are looking for a chain experience. Not homemade but nothing wrong with it. Pool looked amazing but it was closed for maintenance while we were there so can't comment on a personal experience.
Rude staff and unclean rooms. Communist propaganda throughout the hotel. They should keep their political positions to themselves and stop trying to push propaganda on their customers. Room in rough shape, hotel in poor repair overall. I won't be back. Too bad, I have stayed here several times.
Don't expect much from this place. And proceed with caution that you will not be in the room you made a reservation for. Bring a console or pc with you as they have no smart TV nor any option to order anything on their TV.
We were staying here unfortunately during Covid for an event we unfortunately had to go to. Worried about Covid and staying in a hotel. The room was very decent. A huge fridge so you could bring some things to eat and drink as you could not go out to a restaurant as they were closed for Covid. There was a microwave down the hall and that also helped. Some machines dispensing drinks and chocolate and cheap that were not over priced. Our room was very hot and it was hard to keep it at the right temperature. A little cooler for us would have been best, so check your heat before bed. The T.V. remote batteries were partially dead so it was hard to change channels. The pillows, one softer one harder so check them out first which you would like to use. Check in easy, check out easy. Staying on the ground floor was very good, easy to get an outside door close to your room for bringing luggage in and out. Hear nothing from the hall, but we did hear the ice machine down the hall when visiting someone we knew that was near it. The floor was quiet, I almost think they separated people on the floor as best they could to separate Covid as best they could. The restaurant was closed at the hotel, but there was fast food close by and a Tim's across the street. There was a coffee maker inside that was good for 2 cups. All in all a decent place to stay.
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in December 2021. All protocols were followed. The hotel and the room was clean. The pool was excellent and the temperature of the water was perfect. The staff was very accomodating, especially the manager. This cost of a night at this hotel was very reasonable. Next time I am in Ottawa, this is the hotel I will be staying at.
more than helpful, super clean, quiet.......highly recomand!!!! There were hockey teams in same hotel....never heard a word from them. Seen them as they were coming in to book at service desk, but nothing more from them.
We were visiting family and stayed at the nearby Best Western Plus in Kanata. We had a slightly complicated booking but the friendly and knowledgeable staff was excellent and worked through the logistics smoothly and efficiently. Our room was clean very suitable. The lounge/restaurant was good with friedly efficient service and good food. We used the pool which was well maintained and very good.
We stayed here last year and really enjoyed our stay. We requested some of the same things be in our room, eg microwave and the large reclining chair. Though it can't be promised we could tell they switched the room number on the key card before our arrival to accommodate us. We really enjoy the area it's close to the grocery store, LCBO, very important, lol and a Starbucks. But also not a far drive once you hope back on the 416 or 417, I can't remember as I'm home now, to get to downtown attractions. We also really enjoy that there is a restaurant bar attached to the hotel to enjoy a night cap with friendly locals and travels before we retire to our room. Oh ya and the beds so comfy! I even liked for this mattress when buying a new one last year I could find one like it, I sleep like a baby.
I always have a good experience with best western hotels where ever I go I have stayed at best westerns all over Ontario including thunderbay I have not had a bad experience with any of the several best westerns I have stayed at
We had reported a problem with our toilet and the clerk was not able to contact maintenance to have our toilet fixed. All we were given was use of another hotel room that was recently fumigated from people smoking which ended up giving us chest congestion. The inconvenience of getting dressed to use the toilet was bothersome and frustrating!
This is an old 2 storey motel which has had some interior facelifting. In one room the table lamp wasn't working, both rooms had a terrible odour and management's solution was to send housekeeping down and spray air freshener around to mask the problem, not resolve it. A neighbouring room kept us up most of one night. The patios outside our 2 first floor rooms were disgusting and the grounds generally were in poor condition.
The lady at the front desk was nice and welcoming, the room was dirty not cleaned they made a mistake on the payment on the bill .. but the resturant was great the people that work there were great and friendly ..
We had a wonderful stay. Comfortable beds. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Tim Hortons right across the street was very convenient for breakfast. It was easy to take our pet outside as the pet friendly rooms were on the ground floor with easy access from the room to the courtyard.
Starts with a pleasant welcome at the front desk, an easy check in and a clean and nice room. The stay was very enjoyable with possible use of many amenities. The restaurant has great food and very pleasant staff. We enjoyed our stay.
Hotel is close to where I needed to be, this is the second time I have stayed here as it is close to my daughters place. Overall it was clean, but some lights didn't work nor did it have a USB port that I could plug in my phone charger. Staff was great and helpful.
We stayed here last year and our stay was not the best. This time around it was a night and day difference the beds were comfy, wifi was fast, bathroom was modern, tv had good channels and the restaurant in the lobby was great. Also the pool was big and was very great! One thing we were originally placed in a room that smelled of smoke but the staff corrected it and moved us to another room. There was also some paint issues in the room with paint chipping and carpet peeling. But this stay was still enjoyable and the room was clean and we were satisfied! This is a place where we will stay again because we see improvements are being made!
We completed a 5-night stay at the Best Western Plus in Kanata. We have first greeted my friendly staff member, Sharon who let us pick where we wanted our room. She also helped us later when we needed more toiletries and towels. The pool and gym were also opened which were a delight to have with the kids and the pool was recently redone. You can tell this property has made tremendous improvements in cleanliness and customer service since the last time I stayed and this is why they are getting a⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review! We also booked directly with them meaning we are on our way to a free night by points!
Tried to book this hotel several times In the afternoon was told by the hotel staff that they price match with hotels.com And those kinds of websites when ask the question is it cheaper to book online or through you Tried to call The hotel to book a suite 4 times over 30 mins that eve And they wouldn't answer the phone and the one time they did he disconnected me after saying the thank you for calling the best Western yada yada So I tried calling the 1-800 number got someone in the US They informed me that no they will not price match And in fact were $60 higher for the same room I tried calling the hotel back again (After 30 minutes on the phone with the call centre) To attempt one more time to book this room Once again someone picked up the phone and disconnected so you win Best Western I will go elsewhere I travel a fair amount for business and of a Best Western rewards member Recently stayed in Brantford and woodstock with far less hassle than here I booked elsewhere
We were visiting family in the Ottawa area and this Best Western was ideally located for going to their home, touring Mudd Lake and going out for dinner. The hotel suited our needs, a place to stay, get breakfast nearby, with good coffee in the room.
It was a pleasure to stay at this hotel in Kanata. We enjoyed the newly renovated pool which had cool colour-changing lights and new tiles which look great at night! The room was a 1 king which was very spacious and had a very inviting bathroom. The hotel's pool and the gym are open and have safety measures in place. The room was also very clean and had towels that were beautifully folded. My only critique is that the room needs more lights or a change of bulbs so they are brighter and that some decor and furniture are past their prime. But overall our stay was great and as return customers, we had no complaints on cleanliness or customer service and we will gladly return in the winter!
not good The property is laid out in a disjointed fashion, the rooms are not logically numbered the public hallways are not properly cooled the entrance ways are all locked This place sucks .................................................
The hotel is very old and the smell of the carpet was disgusting. I don't recommend this for the price it is expensive. No breaks fast I understand due to covid but then should charge less. I have best western points but I prefer to loose that this is my last time. Every time o stay in one best western is worst than the last time.
Stayed at this hotel with the family. Open the patio door to enjoy the beautiful weather walked into a sea of cigarette butts. The patio was full the surrounding grass full. The pool was also closed due to renovations however this was not noted on the web site . Was given a small discount to compensate the lack of pool.
I have stayed at this property for multiple days each year for the last seven years or so. It is well located for our purposes, is clean and has good customer service, usually. Two days ago, I checked in around 4 pm. Front desk was organized and efficient. The motel was almost empty due to province wide lockdown. My room was clean and comfortable as usual. Due to Covid, I ate take-out and went to bed by 11:00 for an early start next morning. At 1:00 am I woke due to the noise of a couple moving into the adjoining room. They were excited and loud. After 15 minutes, the noise didn't abate, so I called Front Desk. No change; I could hear every word they said. I called again at 1:30. At 1:40, I had to go to the Night Manager in person, and the problem was finally solved. Their alarm went off at 6:00 am and they left at 6:20. It is not reasonable to place late arrivals next to sleeping customers. Not good problem resolution. No gesture of good will in reducing the room rate. I had an eight hour drive next morning on five hours of sleep. Not acceptable. With so many other places to stay, why would I return, even though I've used this place for multiple visits before? I complained to management at checkout and have heard nothing in response. Unsatisfactory
We came for organizing an event at Ottawa from Toronto and thoroughly enjoyed the access, cleanliness, and cooperation of staff for our event. Well-organized meeting spaces and staying options with lots of parking and food options around. Nice place to come, meet, and greet.
I recommand this hotel to anyone. Service is so friendly, quick. Rooms are clean, hallways are always super clean as well. Can't say enough about this hotel. I go each year, and stay in same room. Total joy and comfort each time. Keep up the awesome job!!!! Thanks Best Western Kanta :)
Overall experience was very good had no issues checking in or checking out people were very pleasant especially the staff in the cleaning people and a very important for me because I would like to have no issues when I travel special for business
The experience was good and the rooms are clean. The room prices are a little high. Having a restaurant/bar attached to the hotel and close access to the 416 are key factors. There should be more signage and lights in the rear parking lot.
Our business does the majority of our training in this hotel's conference center. Safiq and his team do an amazing job of keeping us safe and taking care of details. Even during Covid, they make sure the social distance rules are set up and followed. Extremely friendly and efficient.
Enter my room, set AC to cold and lower the set point, AC kicks in, so far so good. look around turns out I got a weird corner room, no big deal except both chairs were placed in such a way as to not be able to watch the TV. Moved chairs to middle of room to face the TV. Under the chairs was a white powder/residue and a black T-shirt. Umm room wasn't properly cleaned last time, not so good. Sit down, start watching TV then notice the AC isn't running, not good. Get up, go to thermostat and the AC starts up, good. Sit back down and start eating my supper. Couple minutes later notice no AC again, not good. Get up and go over to thermostat again and the AC kicks in, good. Notice that this model of thermostat has a motion sensor on it, not good. I know they want to minimise costs by not having the heating or AC running when the room is empty, but a motion sensor is not the way to go and I thought they had phased them out a decade ago. Because unless you're a constant sleepwalker or have severe restless leg syndrome the thermostat will turn off as soon as you fall asleep. And to make matters worse in my room the thermostat was in a hallway to the bathroom and thus was pointed directly to the other wall in the hallway. Luckily, I was able to pry off the cover and pull the batteries out, which reset the unit and I reprogramed the thermostat to work without the motion sensor, good. Besides all of the above, it was a normal hotel room.
We stayed here for a week in a 2 queen bedroom. Room 115 is a larger room and can accommodate a cot. We are returning guests so we thought the stay was going to be as great as last time. It was different there were many cleanliness issues that we brought up and wasn't resolved the way we wanted it to. The tv selection is very poor and there were connection problems so we couldn't watch tv for 3 nights of our stay until someone came to fix it. The cot was very uncomfortable no support for the back and not comfortable. The beds on the other hand were very comfortable. There were not enough towels in the room for us even though we were 5 people, same with the toiletries. Customer service could have been improved on resolving issues more effectively and be more apologetic. The rooms are on the worn side and are outdated hopefully the hotel will work on renovating the rooms and upgrading the guest experience. The bath products were very good I like the individual size bottles they are better during COVID so you know it's a new one, I hope they keep the individual bottles! I still do recommend this hotel to anyone in the area as this is an affordable option and most likely your stay will be better than mine because I know the hotel is addressing these issues. For the record, the general manager did give us a number of points on our account to justify the inconvenience we experienced and I thank him for doing that. As of today, the points are on my account.
I recommend this hotel to ANYONE who is staying in Kanata this hotel is very close to highways and is on a major road. Very close to the Queensway Hospital and Restaurants and Shops. They could use some landscaping work and an exterior renovation to make the hotel look more modern. The guest room is comfy a armchair in the room would have been nice. Another thing is that the room wallpaper and carpet is a bit worn same with furniture. Large desk with outlets on the lamp was great! Customer service was 100% I was recognized for my status and was asked if I wanted an upgrade! Thanks for a great stay!
I stay here for work frequently and have never been disappointed. Staff are always friendly and accommodating. The meeting facilities are great as well. I have stayed during Covid and was very pleased with how they have handled everything, from constant cleaning to process, it defiantly made me feel at ease and happy with my choice. Because I am so happy with them I will be staying there for my brothers wedding in October.
I booked this hotel for an overnight getaway with my family, based on a great stay I had the previous year. First off, there were positives; the hotel made an obvious effort to thoroughly clean and sanitize the property during the pandemic. I also like the location as it is close to the highway, the mall is nearby, and there are lots of dining options within a short drive. The beds were nice, new and very comfy. The negatives; the clerk said or room was ready and checked us in, only to be stopped by the attendant who said our room wasn't ready. She let us in anyway but we had to sit around and wait 20 minutes while she finished cleaning. In doing do, we weren't provided enough towels. I went down in the evening to get towels, only to have to wait 15 minutes for a clerk to finally arrive to help us. Also, the stairway and hallway constantly reeked very strongly of pot. The worst however was we discovered that our room was above the outdoor patio of the sports bar, and there was extremely loud noise from it and its drunken patrons until closing time. I left the A/C on to drown the noise out, but it made our room cold. When we addressed it upon checkout the clerk just shrugged her shoulders and didn't seem to care nor apologize. This experience was disappointing considering I came here based on a great previous stay. Based on the several above incidences of poor customer service we received, we very likely won't be back.
I was at this hotel for four days. I also gave a presentation in one of their hall. Everything was nice and cosy. The receotion did a good job at my arrival. The hall was sanitized before iur presence. The restaurant was always ready for us at lunch time.
I stayed in a big king suite which has a huge living area and a separate bedroom. The suite is in another part of the hotel which is very very quiet. I enjoyed all the amenities in the room I had to request a coffee maker since it was removed from the room because of COVID but they should put that on the website also no housekeeping and pool and the gym were closed which also wasn't shown online anywhere. The room was very big. In the future when I stay with my family I think they should convert one of there very large suites to a 2 queen suite plus a sofa bed so that a family can stay there and the kitchen is nice too. That is my suggestion for the next renovations. The hotel looks like it's due on a renovation as the carpet looks dated but the bathroom is very modern. They might want to update the wall lights and the kitchen to stainless steel appliances. The tv would be nice if it's a smart Tv so you can stream Netflix youtube from your phone but still have the cable option too. Overall a great stay if management reads this please take my suggestions into consideration as I know I'm not the only one who would be in favour of a renovation to the rooms and conversion of a couple of rooms to 2 queen suite!
This hotel is my 2nd time to this hotel. I stayed last May with my mom and now this time also with my mom. Last time was 100% better then our recent trip. Good: The beds in the room were comfortable and the pillows were very comfortable. The bath products are really nice but I think they should include a shower cap and a vanity kit too in the room. They should put more soap if there are more people in the room. The hotels location is very good near major highways and roads and close to Tim Hortons. Bad: The room looks outdated, I thought the last time we were here they would renovate the rooms. The room headboard and furniture is very outdated and the light fixture on the wall near the door. The room is very dark and the carpet should be replaced to a more modern carpet like grey. The hotel did not show on there website that there wouldn't be any housekeeping which is unacceptable as other hotels in a lower class offered housekeeping and there prices were much lower. The pool was also closed and the gym which is the MAIN REASON why we booked here this was not shown at the time of booking. Also the general manager doesn't even reply to some reviews there are reviews that are REALLY BAD one found a dirty rag in the room another found cleanliness issues during A GLOBAL PANDEMIC. There is no excuse for this and the hotel should be contacting these individuals and making things right as there is a sign in the front desk that shows that and it's the Best Western We Care Promise and the hotel broke it so we should be getting some sort of money back, points, hotel credit for next trip. In conclusion, this hotel has taken a step BACKWARDS in cleanliness and service and the general manger needs to read the last reviews that he did not reply too and take action on the ones who didn't have a good stay. We will not be back at this hotel unless something is changed.
Information was not posted on website that pool was not operational as we would have considered booking at another location. The hotel was nice but for our family the pool was the main reason for booking this location
We stayed at this hotel as we are returning customers and stayed here multiple times in the past most recently in January which we enjoyed our stay way better than this one. We made our reservation a few days in advance and called the hotel to be placed in Room 215 as it is a larger room and can accommodate a cot. We also asked for a cot when we called after booking. The person on the phone said yes we have your room 215 guarantee and the cot as well. I called a day before booking to confirm our stay after all the confusion the person also said room 215 was occupied even though we asked in advance for us to be placed in the room. Instead, she put us in room 115 which is just below the room we preferred. We also asked over the phone for a coffee maker and hairdryer to be placed in the room as on the phone we were told only the “essentials” are in the room. I don't know how coffee isn't essential as if you don't provide it in the lobby then it must be in the room. This was also not shown anywhere on the website prior to booking. When we arrived during check-in the front desk guy thanked us for being a Diamond Select Member and gave us 500 bonus points. I had the choice of snacks but they didn't have any. When we went into the room it smelt like someone has been smoking in there and the hallways smelt like smoke as well even though this is a non-smoking hotel. There was no cot in the room, no coffee maker and no hairdryer as requested. We then went to the desk to tell the agent that we paid $10 a night for it and we requested it. He only brought us the coffee maker (which was not cleaned and had a coffee pod still in it) and a hairdryer. We were told the last cot was given to another guest, we asked if we can be accommodated in another room/rooms or if he can contact his supervisor. He said no we can't then we told him are we going to sleep on the floor since there are 5 of us in the room (2 adults 3 kids). He then called his supervisor and brought a cot to us. We thought there were no more cots. We then after inspecting the room saw multiple cleanliness issues. The most disgusting being a dirty cleaning rag in between the sheets of the cot. Clearly, the cot was not cleaned after the last guests used it and during a pandemic we were shocked and disappointed in Best Western as we saw all the articles on their website showing how safe there's hotels are and that they are cleaning the rooms very throughout. We took the rag to the desk as asked to speak to the manager we told him about the cleanliness issues we found and told us he will make a note for the manager no apology and no making things right. There is a sign on the front desk that says “tell us if something is wrong, we will make it right”. This delayed are activities planned for the night for about 1 hour as we had to sort all the mess and change the sheets of the cot ourselves and disinfect everything with our Lysol wipes ourselves. There was also no bath towels in the room and only 1 soap bar and shampoo even though there are 5 of us here. We went to the desk to ask for extra toiletries and we were told there is a shortage of towels for the night so we had to use small pool towels to dry ourselves after taking a shower. Also, the cot was very uncomfortable for $10/ a night the springs can be felt through the cot. We ended up having to use blankets to thicken the already thin mattress and my daughter was not comfortable sleeping on there at all and her back was hurting. We asked the next morning about the tv since there were only a few channels working on the tv and they said they can't do anything as there is no housekeeping service for stay overs. This was not shown on the website also the pool and gym were closed too which wasn't shown on the website. The nice housekeeper she gave us a duvet to we can put on top of the cot mattress to make it more comfortable for us which helped. For the first 2 nights, we couldn't watch tv until maintenance came in to fix it for us while we were site seeing. We found that there were other cleanliness issues and room issues during our stay: -MOULD on the wallpaper which was peeling off on top of the a/c unit. -Bathroom door opening very loudly and not latching properly -The carpet was not shampooed of vacuum properly we found crumbs under the table, a/c unit and in the microwave as well -There was a white stain behind the garbage bin and on the carpet baseboard near the entry door -We found someone's tooth on the side of the bed -Hole in the wallpaper in the bathroom with toilet paper pushed in it -There was some debris inside the air conditioner unit that made the room smell bad looks like rust -The wallpaper in some parts of the room was peeling off and the mirror in the bathroom didn't light up like the other rooms making the bathroom really dark -There was no drain in the bathtub -The heater in the middle of the night turned on even though we set it to very low coolant temperature. the air conditioner smelt musty and like mould When we told the front desk of this matter multiple times during our stay we were never given an apology and these issues were never made right. We asked if we can have bonus points or a travel card as I am a rewards member and we stayed at this hotel many times in the past. We weren't asking for money we were just asking for some sort of compensation and courtesy of what we experienced this is totally a health hazard during the COVID pandemic. We were not treated the way we should have been. When the front desk agents contacted the manager they told us they can't do anything for us and the manager said no and we have to contact him if we want to make things right. So we contacted him via email and are awaiting a response and hopefully, he will give us some sort of compensation and take action so this never happens again to any guest. The good side of the hotel is that the parking is free and that there are multiple exit doors that are key entry only to the hotel which is convenient. The bath products are also very nice and I like the individual bottles especially during the pandemic is very nice to have. The towels are very high end. The beds except the cot were comfortable and the pillows were as well. The hotel is located close to highway 416 and 417 and to Bayshore mall and a shopping plaza with a Metro. Breakfast is not included in the rate even though it's a Best Western Plus but there is a Tim Hortons across the street.
I stayed at this Best Western because my family is used to the chain. We stay at them all the time and always have a great stay and are well worth our hard-earned money! Unfortunately, what we experienced during our stay was very bad especially during a global pandemic. Nothing on their website shows that there is no housekeeping and that the pool and gym are closed. Also, there is no coffee maker, iron, ice bucket, pen and paper, an alarm clock in the room. We also found mould in the air conditioning unit which also kept turning on and off and also at one night the heater turned on too. The room looked outdated the carpet looks very old and should be replaced the wallpaper was peeling off at some points and the furniture was very worn out. There is no breakfast included. The wifi was fast but the tv kept losing the signal the water pressure was great! The room did smell like weed so we know for sure someone was smoking as the hallways also did. Also, the towels are different some of them aren't even best western branded towels and are like motel towels that are not high quality at all. The hotel for one of the night was out of towels and they gave me small poolside towels. In my opinion, they need to be checking the rooms before renting them to guests and the cots are very uncomfortable. They should also convert one of their large suites (1 king) to a 2 queen and sofa bed for families and a kitchenette. If those changes are made then I will be staying there again. I'm conclusion, the hotel needs to pay more attention to detail and needs to clean the rooms more thoroughly. The management staff needs to be more social with the guests and they need to pay more attention to families and convert some of their larger 1king kitchen suites to 2queen +sofa bed suites.
Our room was not cleaned properly and resolving our issues should have been handled better. Guests should not have to fight for proper service. Upon arriving and checking in, we were not told about the recent service changes caused by Covid-19. After staying our first night, we found someone else's clearly worn underwear resting on our TV stand and a dirty microwave. When Calling the service desk asking for our room to be cleaned, we were then told about their updated services, which does not allow staff to clean rooms while guests are occupying them. Not happy with leaving this issue unresolved, I later went to the service desk and asked how we were going to fix this. We were given a new room across the hall. When checking out, I made sure to stress that we were not happy with the level of cleanliness and service provided. It was at that point a staff member made notes and took my contact info to relay to management.
Did a staycation and the room was nice and clean, designed well, very cozy. I didn't want to get out of the bed, super cozy as well. Air conditioner was perfect temperature and staff were all amazing even during this covid 19 time. Can't wait to stay again but when the pool and gym are open.
Hotel located at 1876 Robertson rd Nepean On management and staff (except one individual day time front desk ) are totally worthless disrespectful and inconsiderate! I had to leave in the middle of the night because their whirlpool keep turning on in the middle of the night. They offered another room to move in. But the original solution of turning the breaker off for the whirlpool couldn't be considered. This was my second night. Above that I've made reservations for two night so that I can benefit a tourism Ottawa benefit of 100 pre paid visa but they denied me because I'm a privilege member and can't combien promotions so they kept the card for themselves. I was cheated out of the promotion. No USB plug in. Fireplace doesn't work and is a cutting hazard for kids since metal parts are hanging out. Whirlpool makes terrible noise while it's operating. Night clerk staff member and management are totally inconsiderate non apologetic and rude. I never used foul language and never been disrespectful. I demanded the clerk to apologize to my wife because I had a screaming infant in her arms. She rudely brushed us offer no apology saying I'm not required to do anything but to give these two options, the room or you leave. Thank you best western but I'll be using other hotel chains you have lost values customer and please take a look at Travelocity for reviews because I'm going to make a big stink about this. Copy and past ;)
Very disappointed. We checked out early due to Broken Ac unit with no one to fix, breakfast issues (Advised upon booking included but wasn't really as a few days only fruit offered), then the restaurant in house magically opens and suddenly now no breakfast included, pool empty due to Covid, managers will not contact disappointed guests. They really do not care about their clients. I checked out 5 days early (was a 11 night booking) and found the Homewood by Hilton suites! That hotel is amazing! They have the pool limited to 10 people / hour by confirmed bookings due to covid. Also an amazing bagged breakfast that even has eggs/microwaveable options / at least 5 items in each bag!! Plus their front desk actually answers phones and any questions!
I recently stayed here while on a motorcycle trip. There was quite a bit of confusion about the price I had been quoted over the phone, but eventually the clerk honoured the deal I had been quoted when I called several hours earlier. The room was very nice on the main level, I could keep an eye on my bike. Room was clean and very well appointed. Attached restaurant was outstanding, and I could buy beer and bring it back to the room. Very nice. Lady at the desk gave me incorrect directions back to the Highway 417, which I found odd for someone who lives here... Anyway I figured it out. I would definitely reccomend.
My husband and I stayed one night at this hotel this week. We had a jacuzzi and fireplace room. I was disappointed to find out that the pool was closed but this was due to COVID-19, and not the fault of the hotel at all. Our room was clean and comfortable and quite spacious. We did find it was lacking in some basic things like a coffee maker, ice bucket and cups. I had to ask for the ice bucket and cups at the front desk. I'm not sure if this was streamlining due to the pandemic but it was unexpected. One other thing was that in spite of all the complimentary toiletries in the room, none of them was shampoo. There were five conditioners and a number of body lotions, as well as bar soap. Just a small lack of attention to detail. The jacuzzi made an odd sucking sound when in use unless we covered one of the jets. No adjustments seemed to fix this. It was a little off putting. Maybe time for some maintenance for it. The fireplace was gas. We didn't use it but I did spot a carbon monoxide detector in the room.
I was in a little bit of a last minute issue at my house and needed a room at the last minute in the early morning. I called and the receptionist was very polite, professional and extremely helpful. She was able to let me check in early and the experience was just all around very pleasant. Who ever was working the front desk in the early hours of may 12 2020 deserves a bonus. Highly recommended.
This hotel is great we stayed in a 2 queen room it had a balcony and the room was nice and the bathroom was spacious the beds were comfy and the lobby was very inviting. The room has a mini fridge which was very convenient. One problem I had was since i stayed for several nights and there we're 3 people staying in the room they didn't stock the rooms with enough coffee or toiletries for 3 people i wish the housekeepers could know how many people and service the room accordingly. But overall a great stay will be back for sure and hope they improved on that!
I stayed with my granddaughter for the night. The room was spacious and clean. We really enjoyed the pool, both in the evening and the next morning. The front desk staff was very friendly and efficient. Highly recommend it.
Fully recommended this location. The restaurant had great people from Staff to locals to hotel guests. Great music. Good prices. Pool would be nice if open until 11 Beds comfy rooms clean. Water in shower was hot. Could use reusable shampoo etc and get with the environment times.
We just returned home from a great stay at best western. We had a huge block of rooms for our figure skaters. The hotel was clean. Check in was easy. The rooms were bigger than we expected. All went well and we will return next year when competition weekend rolls around. Thanks again for a great stay!
We had booked for the second year in a row for a hockey tournament. Staff is super and patient with having lots of kids in the hotel. Would recommend to anyone needing a hotel in a central location of the arena.
I have repeatedly stayed at this hotel over the years and am generally satisfied with the quality of accommodations and service. There always seems to be some minor problems or inconveniences when I stay here but never anything serious enough to prevent me from returning. I can recall that on my last visit the food in the hotel restaurant was mediocre to poor (The restaurant has changed names/cuisine since my last visit and breakfast was very good this time), and the place was under renovation which made it dirtier than usual and moving through the hotel could be circuitous. This trip I asked for additional towels (I'm a big guy and the hotel towels are on the small tide) which were never delivered (Even though the front desk rep said he sent house keeping up with them) and when I came back to my hotel room on the Saturday afternoon I found that the door to my room had been left propped open (Using the deadbolt in the door). Nothing was missing from my room, but my MacBook was sitting out on the worktable and of course many of my personal effects were left in the room. Anyone could have walked in and it could have been a much bigger problem. I complained to the Front Desk and while they apologized, no offer of compensation was made. On the positive side the room was VERY clean, and comfortable. Bed was great. Everything was in working condition and even though there was a young sports team staying in the hotel, the staff made efforts to ensure that the youth remained as quiet as possible and in all honesty I heard nothing while in my room. Show pressure was good and the bath products have a nice lemon smell to them and are organic (I believe, I didn't use them personally). All in all I recommend staying at this hotel if you have need to be in this area.
This was a bad visit. I've stayed here before and while I find this hotel expensive for the age of the building and amenities you don't get, it's proximity to my mother's home and the 416 ends up being the deciding factor. Definitely save money by booking with an online service. It's much more expensive booking from the hotel directly, even if you are a Best Western Plus member. There is no breakfast, continental or otherwise. The remote control didn't work. You can hear other guests. However, the biggest issue I had was crawling into bed to find the pillow had bloodstains on it. It had been washed...but still. uugggh.
All was good until it came time for bed. Unfortunately our suite was directly above the attached bad/restaurant, which blasts music until 2:30am. Even though the Hotel Information book in the room states that the restaurant closes at 1:00 am, after multiple calls down to front desk, we were told it does not close until 2:00am & then given every reason as to why it was happening but offered no resolution, besides to come down in the morning & they could discount the room. However when we went to check out first thing in the morning & tried to bring up our issues we were told we'd have to speak to management who of course was not in that day. They should be looking into some resolution for this issue, I should not be able to hear the music from below over my own movie or until 2:30 in the morning.
I booked my room on the same day I needed one. My internet was glitching out so I called hotel directly. My son was writing a pre-examination test for a competitive college program at Algonquin the next morning. The hotel had very few rooms left and the person I was booking my room with over the phone went above and beyond. He genuinely cared that the room he gave me was in a quieter area of the hotel so my son would get a good nights sleep. Part of the hotel had some group bookings so he went the extra step to ensure our stay meet our needs. The room was lovely, upgraded, clean and quiet. Thank you.
From the minute we arrived, we could all tell this wasn't going to be a great experience. Travelling as a hockey team (which they know in advance and offer to have one of their hotels to be a part of the options). They were very un-accommodating. I get the no mini sticks in the hallway, however we were all willing to pay if there were any damages and the kids were not being crazy about it, just trying to pass back and forth. Yes, I get some people will judge this, but when you're a hockey team with 17+ kids, you cannot restrict them to their hotel room. We were also not even allowed to hang out in the hallway. So we tried to work with them and booked a meeting room (paid $100) to use so we'd be out of the way, only to find out that while the contract they made us sign said 24 hours, they kicked us out at 9pm (we booked at 8 pm) PLUS they allowed another team staying there to party upstairs above us with drinks, mini sticks and music. We were very frustrated at the situation, however the worst..... Not only did we find ANTS in a number of the bedrooms, but we had BLOOD on our sheets!!! I went to the front desk and they advised that there was no housekeeping staff on site but if I wanted they would bring me some sheets and I could change the bedding myself. Oh and here is a garbage bag if you want to put the sheets in the bag and bring them back to me. Also, be prepared to bring your own towel. They never had any at the pool. I will never stay at this hotel again!
This location was a perfect fit for my business trip. The hotel is close to a ton of ammenities and really easy access to Kanata and the downtown core. The staff were suer helpful throughout my entire stay. I needed some urgent documents printed late in the night and the front desk team helped me right away. I will defintely stay here again in the near future.
Our group has used a conference room for two days. The facilities are great, the service received by Safiq and his team AMAZING. We had a few adjustments to made in the morning and they were constantly there to make sure we had everything we needed. Location is great, surrounded by a lot of restaurants, close to the highway. Clean and decent room. The on site restaurant/bar was good too.
Great location for hotel, just outside Ottawa, perfect access to highway. Staff was amazing, very accommodating. I loved the restaurant in the hotel. Used the pool and gym, overall, very happy with stay.
Our event went perfectly Safiq and his staff were so accommodating and we couldn't have asked for better service. Safiq made planning our event so simple the catering company provided an amazing buffet and the bar staff was awesome. Not one person had anything but great things to say about the food bar and venue. A special mention to Trina the lady that made our suite extra special with her decorations and attention to detail I was so surprised when we walked into our room, the room itself was incredible but she added that special touch. Both Mike and I are so grateful to everyone who helped us bring our event together THANK YOU so much.
arrived to check in and we had booked a whirlpool and fire place suite we received neither. no compensation was offered the front desk person said he doesn't know anything to anything that was asked of him. we had to complain to the manager who was stand offish and just offered to know off 20$ which was better than nothing. there is no room service we had to walk down to the restaurant and order take out. The bed had a duvet cover on it but no duvet in it. when we asked for three more sheets and explained the duvet issue the front desk person said they don't know anything. they brought up three duvets without covers. very bizarre. Pool area was good but not very many towels. If there was an option for breakfast we didn't see any info about it. I just did a survey and it asked if we had the breakfast so that was news to me.
The hotel was conveniently located. easy to access and generally will run. Compared to other Best Western Plus hotels we have used, it was quite a bit more ex-endive and didn't include a free breakfast.
Went with a group for a hockey tournament. We were respectful but made to feel like a bunch of degenerates. If the hotel doesn't want large groups then they shouldn't accommodate to them. One staff on for the entire hotel is ridiculous and unsafe. Rooms have a musty old smell and bedsheets were found with stains on them. Have been to many away hockey tournaments and this by far was the worst experience.
The staff were extemely helpful throughout the day of but also with all the planning. Emails were answered quickly, suggestions made and they bent over backwards to do what we asked or needed. On top of that we booked a few rooms including the suite for the bride and groom. It was amazing - the housekeeping staff went out of their way to decorate it beautifully - even asking ahead of time for the wedding colours. Couldn't be happier with how everything went.
This hotel is great, it is close to the Ottawa River Shore, to the Napean Marina, to the Britania Marina, there is a nice Pub, great swimming pool, the staff is great. Supermarket is across the street, there is like a mall acrioss the area, sourrounded by restaurants and if you like running you can find nice tracks .....
Upon arriving to the hotel it looks worn down and dingy and kind of in a sketchy area of Ottawa and old part of Ottawa called bells corners. Parking is good front desk staff are amazing pleasant helpful lovely wonderful. The rooms are disgusting draughty the decorative pillows are covered in stains the wallpaper is peeling off the walls the beds you can feel the springs through the beds. The bathroom had ants all over the floor at multiple times during the day and this is in the middle of winter not sure where they were coming from it was disgusting. The pool was freezing their excuse was they just filled it up they're turning the heat on now well I was there for four nights and three days and the pool temperature did not change at all this is not fun when you have children who want to swim. The fitness centre is lame one bike one treadmill one elliptical and a couple of novelist equipment so if you have more than one person in there at one time nobody can use the gym because if you want to run in some else wants to run then you have to wait I didn't feel comfortable running outside definitely a very busy street and it would be weather dependent in December anyway The meeting space while we were there for a osteopath physiotherapy massage therapy sort of education class we had 14 treatment tables in the room and all we were doing was tripping over each other‘s bags and there was enough space to move chairs around the windows in the room were extremely draughty the tempered chair control was one minute it was crazy hot the next minute it was freezing cold. There were only seven stalls for multiple classes that were held at the conference centre and only one spot for the washrooms for Location that clued it for the restaurant. I write a lot of reviews and I've never had to write one as poor as this again the staff super helpful friendly really nice people, the actual facility itself is disgusting it's just gross . I would put it at more of a motel versus a best Western Hotel and conference Centre not even close to what best Western standards are.
I did not chose this hotel, it was assigned to us for a weekend of hockey games. I arrived Friday night late. Honestly, I was surprised! A bit of a questionable location. There where people hanging out of balcony windows. The smell of weed and cigarettes all thru the 100 and 200 level corridors. The front desk was notified by a number of guests. I was then placed in 500 level corridor. Friday night was ok after that. Room was clean and bed EXTREMLY comfortable. Saturday night hallways were loud and smelly. 4 of our players got locked in a stairwell - thank god they had a phone!! By 2:30 am the yelling and banging on the doors was crazy. NO ANSWER at front desk for over an hour ( and honestly, I wasnt sure it was safe to put into the hallways) Front desk staff Friday night and Sunday morning were very kind and apologetic but clearly not empowered to deal with ay kind of situation. For $176 a night, you can DEFINITLY stay somewhere better! Sorry Best Western Plus, but you should do much better!!
Safiq the sales manager is very professional and efficient . He made sure our entire groups needs were met in every capacity. Rooms are newly renovated and were very clean. The lobby was always very clean which can be difficult during the winter months.
Very nice clean room, friendly service and High Five sports bar conveniently attached to the building. Enjoyed our overall stay immensely. Price for our stay was more than reasonable compared to other hotels in the area.
1st room. Crumbs, pizza sauce & hair on beds. Hair in tub. Floor & surfaces filthy.2nd room. Floor filthy and hair on one of the beds, old food in fridge.A worker walked right in to room shortly after I brought luggage in ( door was closed) while I was on the phone! Next morning realized there was trash on balcony & patio not locked- had slept the night with unlocked door. Was travelling from out of province for funeral and was exhausted and had no vehicle. Otherwise I definitely would have found another hotel .Shocked that Best Western has their name attached to this property. Has BW declined in recent years? I booked it expecting nothing fancy but definitely cleanliness and comfort. Never again!!! The staff were friendly but offered no type of compensation whatsoever for my substandard experience.
Love the pool and that it opens at 6 am, rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable, ice machine and microwave conveniently located, staff polite and welcoming. Lots of restaurant and shopping choices within walking distance.
Great location. Lots of stores nearby and easy access to highway we wanted. Front desk lady was very cheerful and welcoming, housekeeping smiling in the hallway. Place was clean and comfortable. Will come again
Our hockey team stayed here this past week and everything was great! The rooms were clean and comfortable! The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming! They allowed us to use the mail lobby seating area for our team when we ordered pizza for everyone. The pool was great for the kids and there was lots of seating for parents to look on. The back parking lot was perfect for the team to play their ministicks between games. The location of this hotel is around everything one needs. Very happy with our stay here. I would use this hotel again.
Arrived after 9 pm. Check in was quick, efficient. Room had patio door access to parking lot which was great for running back and forth to the car. Not so good as many workers staying at the hotel and were outside smoking. Cigarette smell heavy in my room despite me not smoking and the room being non smoking. This was disappointing. Lots of shopping/food places near by and I was able to walk across the street and pick up a quick dinner. Location perfect for 416/417 access. Could not do better! Room was fine. Pillows were uncomfortable! I can't remember the last time I was at a hotel with pillows that sucked, but these ones were not great. Conference room was a good size, well set up. Room temperature very uncomfortable for the last bit of the conference. Lunch set up in hall way with long tables was unorganized, crowded, and really a hot mess. It could be done better, there truly was not enough room for people, tables and food. I would stay here again, provided I was not near smoking patrons.
Upon our arrival they greeted us knowing our needs and had the accommodations ready with all our requirements! Everything was clean and comfortable. The pool area was suitable for our group! A very nice stay!
They had a great underground parking. Everything was walkable. There is a market on the streets. Eat Beaver tails. Fried dough with cinnamon/sugar. We went to a buffet that was delish. We walked along the canal and took the water tour, the information was given in English and French.
Hotel room had a funny smell, could've been more clean especially in bathroom. Wasn't what I expected for a Bestwestern $150 room. Will not likely return to this location in the future. Staff was friendly, professional, and prompt.
Didn't get the room I booked Not really satisfied with the explanation Probably should have made a following call after booking Clean and quiet No breakfast offers This hotel can do better with amenities
This is the hotel we always choose when staying in Ottawa. The salt water pool is great. Would reccomend this hotel to everyone. The only downfall was being charged for the room twice. We found out after we got home and checked my credit card.
I helped organize a 2 day national meeting at the Best Western Kanata hotel Sept. 13-15, 2019. Our experience with the hotel facilities and with the staff was very positive. The meeting manager, Safiq, was very responsive, patient and accommodating during the planning process. He was equally helpful when we arrived at the hotel. He made suggestions based on his experience, answered all of our questions, and was open and flexible to respond to our group's needs. Meeting facilities and equipment were excellent. We had several meals catered in our conference room. The chef was also very attentive and made extra efforts to accommodate our group members' dietary needs. The meals were on time, well presented and very tasty. I would recommend this hotel and conference centre to other group planners of conferences in the Ottawa area.
Stayed at this Best Western for the first time and it was great. Location was perfect for my work, nice, clean place. Staff was caring and answered all of my questions. Restaurant on site serves hot breakfast, which is better than having free cereal and an apple at some places. Loved it!
NIce hotel outside of Ottawa central area - closer to airport so the location worked for us. Did not get to use the facilitites (pool / exercise area), but in passing looked well maintained. Check in service was fast and friendly, with directions from the front desk staff.
Friendly staff. Very comfortable bed. Clean room. Quiet. Great restaurant connected to the hotel. The indoor pool was an added bonus. Very handy to major routes, with other amenities just across the street (gas, coffee, donuts).
We often stay at Best Western hotels and have good experiences, unfortunately this was not one of them. Our room was not ready when we got there, and only one person working was willing to help shuffle things around. Would be a minor inconvenience on it's own, but we had been driving for 6 hours with 2 small children and arrived well past check in time. There were other minor things that added up to a less than satisfactory stay.... there was someone's old coffee left in the coffee maker, and garbage left on the balcony. Our room wasn't cleaned on the second day (we stayed 2 nights). There weren't any towels at the pool whenever we went for a swim, and when I checked out they tried to charge me almost double what I was originally quoted. I was thankful for the one worker there who was kind and helpful, but won't be staying here again.
After a long drive with 4 kids we arrived here at 1am. Checked in to our suite. Opened the door to a foul odour. Opened the pull out couch to find the same linens on the bed from the last guest. Pillows with no pillow cases. Blood stains on the sheets and mattress. Called the front desk and he brought me clean sheets and pillows to make the bed myself. At 1am. After a 6 hour drive and 4 kids to put to bed. He offered another room but it didn't accommodate our family size. Phoned another hotel near the Ottawa airport and found a nicer CLEAN suite for $55/night cheaper.
Nice Clean Hotel, indoor pool that is always pleasant after a days work. Staff is friendly, fast and professional. Very well located, proximity of many restaurants as well as a cool sports bar open til midnight in the hotel great to watch your favorite sports events
We haven't even stayed there yet however I just HAD TO somehow compliment the person who took our reservation on the phone. (It was today, this afternoon )She was very personable, friendly, helpful, and sincere, Thanks!!
My room was lovely, clearly renovated with good furnishings. The staff were very attentive, friendly and welcoming. I loved the bath products, the scent lovely. From the moment I connected with any staff member, I felt as though I had their undivided attention and they were committed to providing the best service possible.I would definitely stay again.
Room was over the lounge where they played loud rock music until 2 am. I complained but nothing came of it. There was never anyone at the front desk. Room smelled of some air freshener used to cover up smoke.
there was bigs inside the room and the management didn't do anything.now we have to treat my mom for those out our pocket . wasn't happy at all and i regret the stay.wanted to extend the stay but didnt not so moved to holiday inn down the road.
When we drove up to the Best Western, the property outside looked dated, but when we went in, the interior had been updated quite nicely. The pool looked very nice although we didn't swim. The beds were quite comfortable and the bathroom was nice. As previous reviewers have said, the tv was low resolution and no options for Netflix - an upgraded entertainment system would be a nicec touch. The remote was glitchy at best even when the batteries were changed. We did order a movie by accident and a call down to the front desk reversed the charges right away. Staff at the front desk were all very friendly and helpful. Overall a comfortable stay.
Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Our room had a sliding door which was very convenient for the smokers in our room. There is an average size mini refrigerator to store food and drink. There are malls across the street where you can purchase food and alcohol beverages. Plus there is Tim Horton's directly across from this hotel. It's a short drive to downtown Ottawa or the Canadian Tire Centre.
Sorry to leave a negative review but it is rare for me to stay in a large chain hotel with such a dirty room. It was a suite that cost about $300 US. We have never paid so much for a dirty hotel room. Looked like they just shook out the sheets and put them back on the bed. I didn't have the heart to take photos. Avoid this hotel if you like clean rooms.
Great place to stay if you want to cover the whole Ottawa area. the restaurant is really good. close to 416 and 417. Lots of parking and a farmacy within walking distance. The suits above the reception area are by far the best place to be.
Stayed here a few times over the years, hasn't changed much, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Rooms meet the need, the facilities are nice and still in good shape, the last time I was there. Been a few years now, but we were able to book a very last minute room as a walk-in.
Nice clean hotel, good staff. very comfortable bed and bathroom was modern and new. Part of hotel doesn't have an elevator, so make sure to ask for a room with elevator access when booking. Lots of walking if you get put in the wing without the elevator.
We found the hotel to have a good location and reasonably well kept. The room itself was updated recently - particularly the bathroom. We had some trouble sleeping as the beds were uncomfortable. The TV and cable were not the greatest with a low resolution picture and very basic cable. Netflix and YouTube access would have been much better options. We booked through Expedia and there seemed to be a mix up between the room we reserved and what the hotel had in their Records. The front desk charged my credit card $50 for incidentals and it showed as a pending charge even a day after we checked out. It was still there as I'm writing this review even though the front desk said they would reverse it the day we checked out.
The suite that I stayed in did not have a lot of power outlets available, and I ended up having to unplug other items in order to use convenient/accessible plugs. The physical position of some outlets caused issues with devices randomly loosing power. For example, there was an outlet behind the bed, but because the bed was pressed up against it, whenever you moved, it would cause the devices connected to it to loose power! Also in the suite I stayed in, there were some lights that were burnt out and needed replacing. I would expect the cleaning/maintenance staff to periodically check each room, especially after someone checks out, or before someone checks in, to ensure everything is in order and working (though apparently this was not the case for my room). The suite also had some issues with the closet doors, where, if you opened them, they actually wouldn't physically be able to close! You have to expend considerable force, as if the door was off the track. I had to pull/push the closet door downward to stop it from catching on something in the track (which was preventing it being able to physically close). Finally, although the cleaning staff did tend to my suite on a daily basis (ie. garbage, bed, bathroom, etc.) they apparently don't vacuum. The carpet was visibly in need of cleaning, and although I stayed for 4 days, the room was not properly/thoroughly cleaned at all in this time. This location does not have a lot of gym equipment, just a single elliptical, treadmill, and upper/lower body bench presses. So if you show up late to the gym, you're likely not going to be able to get a machine. Also, it's a little confusing to be placed in a room within the 300 block, but only have 2 floors in the building. It was not clear or apparent that both the 200 and 300 rooms were on level 2.
I booked this hotel as it was close to South Keys, Ottawa where we were helping my niece move to her new house. We booked it last minute, good thing there was a room available. We needed this room so bad so we can rest our tired and weary bodies from a full day of lifting and cleaning. The room was clean, the bathroom was great! I had a very good sleep in this room. Thank you BW, we now know to book this again when we come to visit.
It is nice to stay here, the bed is comfortable, the hotel is quiet and clean with lots of restaurants and stores in the area. They have a restaurant attached to the hotel. It is easy to access onto the highway. The staff is nice and helpful.
We stayed 1 night at this BW. Our younger family members enjoyed the pool. Tjere were loads of clean towels distributed around the deck area. This property was easy to find and our room was excellent, very nearby the pool. Breakfast was very good. We would definitely recommended this hotel.
The hotel from the outside looks standard, but is very new and updated inside. There's a restaurant on site and it's located close to other eateries but outside the city limits in a quieter town. The pool is nice but has a very deep end to it. The room was very big, very clean n had all the amenities needed. Close proximity to grocery, fuel and variety stores.
I arrived late to this hotel and the woman that checked me in was delightful! So friendly and accommodating. Whatever she is paid is not enough, I don't believe that their was anyone else working with her and it was pretty late, it didn't seem safe. My colleague arrived after midnight and their was an altercation in the parking lot. When I pulled into the hotel I immediately regretted booking it looked rundown and frankly a bit scary. Good news was that the room was super clean and the sheets were crisp and white. All the staff were great though and once the reno's are complete I would reconsider coming back. Just please - can you provide real cutlery and plates instead of plastic, its so bad for the environment and when you have a microwave in a room you should provide microwavable dishware. Their is no elevator to the second floor and the entrance is accessible but no very easy to access if using mobility devices.
Great comfy beds, great price. Has a pool, would be even better if it had a hot tub! Always stay in the same area with the king size beds, must be relatively new beds, they are very good. Room looks like it has been newly renovated.
Traveling across the country holidaying and trying to not break the bank, we opted to try this best western as we have had very good previous stays in best westerns. On arrival it is an older hotel, ok no big deal, walked in and greeted in french right away, ok , then the picture of the aga khan hanging on the wall behind front desk, I am not much for religion and found it offensive, Hotel under renovations seemed to be all over, no elevator, ok, no breakfast included but restaurant/lounge on site. Room was clean being the highlight of the evening. Next day went for breakfast, basic breakfast but very loud staff talking over few customers that were there. I would not go back this hotel nor would I recommend it to anyone.
The front desk refused to give me my receipt upon check-out. I need this receipt to complete my expense report. The front desk told me to contact my employer's travel agency for the receipt. They are located in BC, which is a 3 hrs time difference. Therefore, I have to wait an additional 3 hours before they open, then wait until the travel agent gets my request for the receipt to complete my expense report! This is ridiculous!
This was very nice hotel and we had a great stay. The pool and fitness facility in this building are beautiful, probably one of the nicest I have seen. The staff in this hotel are very friendly and everyone says hello.
Stayed here on Business and I love this hotel! room was great check in a breeze and the lady that checked me was super! unfortunately i cant remember her name! I think that the person checking you in should be on the paperwork so that afterwards if you have something to say good or bad at least you know exactly who you need to praise! just an observation from someone who travels alot and it is hard to remember everyones names by the time you have been on the road for a week in 3 or 4 different hotels... Keep up all the great work BW Kanata I will stay here the next time i am in town!
the hotel itself is dated and is showing its age but it was still clean and comfortable. The best part of this hotel is the front desk staff, they are so pleasant to deal with and certainly go above and beyond to try and accommodate their guests. I was disappointed to see that they do not have a complementary breakfast, it is there for purchase in a restaurant in the main lobby. Most hotels now are including Breakfast so I found this strange. I would stay here again just because the staff are so pleasant
I'm really sorry that I have to leave this bad review It's really old and dirty, it's our worst stay among all our Ottawa trips The carpets in the room and hallway not only look dirty but also smell bad; Shower sprayed yellow water either too cold or too hot; towels in the pool looks so bad that no kid wants to use them The only thing works well in the room is the mini fridge, freezes everything we put in No tea no breakfast no parking (not enough parking for busy weekend)
My first time staying here. The room was a little on the small side but looks like it has had a recent Reno and was nice. It was quiet and the bed was comfortable. There is also a sports pub in the hotel. I dinner there, the food was good and the service was great. I would definately stay here again.
Very loud rooms, we could hear everything our neighbours were doing. Hallways were super busy with dogs barking and kids screaming. The pool was lovely and the staff was amazing. Each room has its own door or patio which is amazing. Right beside Robertson road but it wasn't too loud for traffic. Outdated rooms and VERY small bathroom but had a gorgeous mirror! No rollaway bed available for us. Room was expensive.
no complaints on room but would have been nice to be informed or offered breakfast by the check in staff slight mix up with the key for the room but the gentleman who was the second on the desk was extremely helpful
First, this review is NOT a comment on the staff. These people were understaffed and Management was NOWHERE to be seen. We had booked the hotel for 2 nights, checking in Friday night. We left Friday night. The front desk clerk made the guests ahead of us sign a behaviour agreement..and the guests ahead of them as well. Not sure what was IN that agreement, but none of the following were enforced. 1) Kids running up and down the hall until late, yelling and screaming and shouting. 2) Parents in the hallway talking loudly and drinking visibly. 3) Kids throwing things against the wall in the room next door 4) Parents gathered on the pool deck drinking visibly and openly, taking over the entire pool area. When we went to complain, the front desk staff were overwhelmed with loud, obnoxious hockey parents trying to get a discount because their kids lost the game that day and they didnt have to stay. They were TOLD on Check-In (we heard them) that the room was booked for the weekend and NO discounts would be applied if they checked out early. Not an option. These people were complaining none the less. We've had positive experiences at other Best Western chain hotels, this one should have the brand name removed. The only thing I'd recommend is the restaurant/lounge - and you dont need to stay there to eat there.
Had a pleasant stay, clean rooms, nice decor, the staff was very professional and accommodating. The rooms have been renovated. There was easy access and lots of restaurants and stores in the area, walking distance, didn't have to drive.
We stayed in room on first floor on eastern side... the rooms and the hotel are outdated in need of renovations. Old carpet and smells weird. Pictures on tripadvisor are probably from 20 years ago because you definitely don't get what is in the pictures. Disappointed.
We spent two nights at this hotel on Nov 2-3rd. We had a King suite and were very pleased with the room, especially the bed. The room was very clean and very comfortable. The only issue we had was with the door. As we arrived to our room the door seemed to be open and with a little push the door did open. We had to lean up against the door to close and lock. We advised the front desk about the issue and they were going to get maintenance to look at it the next day. I don't think they did, because we left the "do not disturb" sign on our door the whole next day. We did remind the front desk the morning we left, and I hope they got someone to look at it. We also had breakfast at the restaurant and the food was very good and great price. Usually hotel restaurants are overpriced, but did not feel that they were. The lady who served us was very warm and friendly. Overall a great experience with this hotel and we would return.
Staff - wonderful people , Armad (not sure of the spelling of his name ? He was the best he went out of his way to help us with everything Pool clean , nice chairs and comfortable, Exercise room- small but its all you need Rooms - very nice and typical hotel rooms Parking - lots of parking and easy access to your room from the back door to your car Restaurant - (I believe the restaurant is a privately owned pub had nice decor good service , dinner and pub food not bad but breakfast ridiculous prices for breakfast .If they had a breakfast special they would make lots of money for breakfast .We had over 70 people who would not eat at the restaurant for breakfast because it was insane prices .We all went to other places Hmmm if you 70 people at a reasonable price you will make money A empty restaurant makes no money
Excellent hotel, friendly staff, very clean quiet room, great location, had a wonderful experience while staying here, would stay here again, restaurant was good, variety of food offered, the restaurant served breakfast which was an added bonus
This hotel provided a clean and nice place to stay while I was in Kanata. The only issue was that the temperature control was hard to maintain in the room, and the heating/cooling was loud and kept coming on all night.
if you are going to a show this location is awsome, its near the Canadian tire center and close to the center of town. The hotel is clean and friendly. Thete is a great pub on site with great prices. Everthing you need in 1 location
We really enjoyed our stay. Nice clean rooms. Loved the balcony. Nice to know there was a swimming pool and restaurant on site. Easy location. Our only complaints about the property were, there were not enough physically challenged parking spots or handles in the bathtub.
The stay went well considering the circumstances of the storm/tornado that went through the area hours before we arrived. Staff was able to still get us checked in and were friendly on the way out. Will be returning the next time we stay in Ottawa.
An old hotel that has been refurbished, very nice, breakfast is not included in the room rate. It is on a very busy main street in Kanata. It is a large hotel and they do accept conventions, in fact the McLaughlin Buick Club of Canada held Homecoming there in 2010
This hotel is a small, quiet extremely clean hotel. Rooms are comfortable and the staff (Ali) are amazing. There are a lot of amenities within walking distance. Great place to stay. The pool is clean and relaxing to be in.
Clean, comfortable, friendly, helpful, fair price-- all the things I would expect from Best Western! What surprised me was that it is advertised as Best Western PLUS, (which I understood included a free continental breakfast); instead we were ushered into an attached sports bar, which had a great breakfast menu: at a cost!!
We stayed here in two spells for nearly three weeks and were made to feel at home immediately. All the staff were helpful and friendly, from the earliest of breakfasts to the latest of drinks in the adjoining bar. We made good use of the BBQs outside and the pool, with the location ideal for our trip to Ottawa and Kanata. Rooms were clean and spacious, with comfortable beds and decent bathrooms. The pool was an added bonus and the gym looked useful (although not by me...!). All in all, a very positive experience and I would definitely recommend it.
The staff was wonderful. The room, clean. We were given a ground floor room at the back so our kids could go outside and play. The beds and pillows were so comfortable. The pool was COLD, which made it hard for us "old people" to enjoy, but our kids didn't care and had a fabulous time splashing around. We will definitely keep this hotel on our good list.
We were worried when we saw the outside, but our worries ended there. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. Water pressure sucked but I can look past that. The restaurant food and service were great. No complaints, would stay again.
This is our go to place in Ottawa. Easy access off the 417. Great pool and restaurant. Beds are very comfortable. Rooms are large and very clean. Close by shopping center ( Bayshore), LCBO, Beer store, grocery and banks.
This was my 10th stay of over a week at this hotel over the last 23 years. The rooms are fairly basic which is what you would expect at the room rate but clean and many have been recently renovated. The staff are the biggest plus they are always very accommodating and helpful with any request. The attached bar (High Five) has reasonable food and a good selection of beers and again the staff are very welcoming. The breakfast crew are chirpy and remembered our team of 20 by name each day along with our orders as we were generally creatures of habit. It's served as the team's base for decades and I'm sure many more years to come.
Stayed here with a large team of 20 and it was excellent. The manager and staff made our three week stay very enjoyable. The morning crew in the restaurant were exceptional. Very friendly and efficient. It's been refurbished since I stayed two years ago and nicely done. Good place to stay.
We were out visiting family in the Ottawa area and found it rather difficult to find vacancies in the area due to high demand. As a result, any rooms available were at rack rate - meaning max rates. That's the way it goes, so we booked the closest location we could find. Unfortunately, after driving 5 hours and spending an awesome day in the sun, we were exhausted and ready for a great sleep. Our room had two King-sized beds for my family of four. Our bed was horrible. It had a big dip in the middle that funneled you to the centre. Then, it was hot and stuffy out, so we turned the AC on. The AC unit did not have adjustable louvers, so it blew directly at our bed. So we could not get comfortable and we froze. When we informed the front desk, although polite, the best they could do was a discount on our next visit. Likely - not!
Have to agree with a previous review that the "curb appeal" isn't the best for sure but once you step through the doors it is very nice. Ladies at check in were very nice and helpful. Room was clean and spacious. Toiletries were wonderful! We had a king size bed which was SOOOO comfortable! It was very hot out so the pool was a big plus to cool down. Close to several restaurants. We ordered a pizza and it was there, red hot, in less then 10 mins! Will def stay here again!
Great hotel with new renovated rooms and new restaurant. Property looks amazing, new parking lot, new gardens, staff was friendly and excellent. Affordable prices, great for my company and my group to enjoy
We have stayed many times at this location, and will continue to come back. The staff is fantastic, the rooms are wonderful, and the restaurant is a super compliment! The renovations were well done, quality work, and still a great value.
Stayed at hotel for 3 nights as we were attending soccer tournament nearby. Good location, about 20 minutes to downtown Ottawa. Lots of restaurants/stores nearby. There is also restaurant/bar in hotel where we had a nice breakfast. Hotel room was nice. Kids liked the pool, as it was a great temperature unlike many hotels we've been to where the pool is cold. Would have been good to have self-service laundry as we were washing soccer uniform daily and had to take outside to dry in sun. Good place to stay if in Kanata/Nepean area. We were there for a long weekend, so price was higher than what we would typically pay for a Best Western.
Great little spot with convenient access to shopping and restaurants across the road. Comfy beds, salt water pool, friendly staff, lots of free parking. We would recommend this to everyone. There is also an on-site restaurant if you wish to dine here.
We booked this room on a special rate for two nights - I'm not sure whether the rate we got is always available but it was cheaper than staying at a local university residence with far better amenities. The wifi was fast and easy to connect to. The pool was clean and uncrowded. The location is close to all of Kanata including it's major shopping areas and the Canadian Tire Centre (which I still want to call Palladium or Corel Centre). It's also convenient access to the Ottawa West areas. Ahmed at the front desk was amazing.
Really enjoyed the saltwater swimming pool. The restaurant, bar was also great. Excellent food and friendly staff. The bed was super comfortable, had a great sleep! The hotel staff were also very professional, friendly and helpfull.
Stayed at the Best Western Plus over the Canada Day Weekend attending a hockey tournament. Kids enjoyed it immensely. Staff at the restaurant where very accommodating knowing our tight schedules for food. Would stay again without thought.
Went there with family ... room was clean, staff was okay. Pool was little dirty even when claimed clean. The full hotel is not centrally air conditioned, beds were clean but not very comfy. breakfast deals sucks ... not only in delivery at tables but also in choices.. no buffets and even if you are ready to pay the difference they ask u to stick to the menu @back of card given by the hotel.... so deals without breakfast would be probably better. Ice machine was out of order when temp were 36 C. Tried to reach Conceirge at about 7 pm ... could but reach operator, Conceirge or room service or any number at hotel to get some food assistance...
The staff here are excellent. Getting past the front, which has no curb appeal, the interior is lovely. Our room was quiet and well-cared for, and the front desk staff , kudos to Arnie in particular, always was helpful. Being attached to High Fives pub was a bonus, and we had several meals there, especially enjoying breakfast - lots of variety and well-priced, again with excellent staff. An easy drive to Ottawa. We'll stay there again!! Being attached to High Fives
Stayed here for two nights for business meeting. Hotel was clean and well equipped. Staff were great. Food served for our business meetings was very good. A couple of additions would have been nice such as breakfast in the morning, and a TV remote control that worked.
This is our go to spot in Ottawa. Easy access from the 417, great pool and restaurant. Comfy beds and friendly staff. Quiet area and no construction sites so no 7 AM wake up call that wouldn't be appreciated.
Location is convienent for shopping, restaurants, and highway access. Perfect for people with dogs as the bottom floor patio doors have grass right outside the door. Nothing fancy but amenities include a pool, sauna and gym, and hotel is clean. Staff is very friendly.
Very nice hotel...has been pretty much fully renovated. There is a need for further improvements on the patio doors, but aside from this we were very satisfied. There is an indoor pool and a nice restaurant.
A convenient location close to restaurants and supermarkets. Recently renovated. Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff are friendly. Good place to stay for business and family vacation. Will come back again.
The pool isn't working and hasn't been in some time, the bar played loud thumping music until 3AM Thursday, the rooms look like they were decorated in the late 70s there is basically no handicap access and there is limited parking, especially for handicap. Melanie the manager was very nice though.
I was disappointed with so much. Noisy Rooms, on the ground floor with a sliding glass door I wasn't able to secure, Adjoining rooms with a deadbolt that wasn't locked when I arrived, and so hard to lock because it had been painted over, no microwaves in rooms, did I mention noisy rooms? I travel a lot with work, and stay at the Best Western chain of hotels frequently. I will not be staying here again. There are much nicer hotels for a lot less cost right down the street.
This was my third stay here in the last 8 years. Always have had good things to say about the place. This time was pleasantly surprised to see entire Reno Make Over (Could still small paint) ...Facelift was successful very much freshened the place up it was like a new hotel....Anyway location wise if your not looking to do a bunch of touristy things you can walk to pretty much anything you need ...Beer store 2 min walk ..Eateries 2 min walk grocery stores department stores all short walk. Rooms very comfy 4 good quality pillows ...all the normal room amenities (no microwave but one in the hall) WiFi worked excellent...On site restaurant/bar ..Staff very friendly and helpful...This is my go to place when at this end of Town
You can clearly can hear conversations in adjoining rooms. Even alarms going off in neigbhouring suites. Not restful at all. Very disappointing. Restaurant food is fine, but it is Sports Bar with loud TVs.
Good price, nice hotel, lady at check in tried to trick us into a higher price. After standing my ground and digging up our reservation confirmation she finally adjusted it to match. Aside from that experience, the hotel is close off the highway, clean, quality, and great value.
-20 outside and hotel did not turn on heat in my room despite having a reservation held with credit card. The side hotel entrance beside the Bar was unlocked til 10pm. I called front desk about no heat and he offered to turn it on. The carpet felt like it was just laid over cement so I couldn't take my boots off it was so cold. In the morning the room temperature read 62. I had to sleep in everything I brought to stay warm. I am now sick. Discounting a room charge after the fact does not diminish such a negative experience.
The Location of this Hotel was perfect, just outside of the City of Ottawa but close enough to see any part of the city....without all the city traffics. We used this hotel to traffic back and forth from the Canadian Tire Place to watch the Ottawa Sens, a perfect distance. The staff was always there to assist , very friendly?
Pool was freezing. 3 days no one was going to fix it. My 5 year old was upset everyday when we told her it still wasn't fixed. No compensation. We asked everyday if it would be fixed and was told it was hard to heat because there were so many windows. Also no one serviced our room on the second day. Had to call down for clean towels no cleaners in the building at that time.
Don't be fooled by the somewhat rundown-motel exterior, the interior is clean and modern and completely acceptable for the price range. Service and staff were terrific.Might be priced a bit too high, but didn't look at comps in the area so not sure.
Was an enjoyable stay and Arnie was da best front desk hotel service greeter. He answered all our questions and assisted on various questions we had. The lounge staff was good too. very convenient to sit and mingle with others before our adventures during the evening.
We had a great stay! Hotel was in a very convenient location to get back and forth to Canadian Tire Centre, room was clean and staff were friendly! They did a good job on the renovations. The price was perfect!
I'm not even waiting until I check out to review this hotel. We have spent a week here and it is the VERY BEST WESTERN we have stayed in. The staff and management are fantastic, they can't do enough for you. From the front desk staff to the housekeepers and Joe and the maintenance man are true professionals. The room is very comfortable, not luxurious but very well equipped, and the whole hotel is spotless. The pool is great and eventhough there is no breakfast included, the restaurant is very good. The location is great, near shopping and the Can Tire Centre. I strongly recommend this hotel. Well done staff ....keep up the good work
stayed here with our dog for the weekend and was pleased. The hotel was clean and efficient. Parking was easy and they have charging for electric cars. A nice pool and a a workout room as well. Breakfast was included
No elevator to the second story business suites. Beds were comfortable and largr lounge chair in the room was a nice added touch, despite some wear to the edges. Staff was pleasent to deal with and quick to respond to any issues.
great location - close to Canadian Tire Centre and outlet malls. Plus only a couple of minutes to the 417. Nice pool for lengths. Comfortable bed. Would like a couple of hooks for coats Also need a dedicated business centre without access for kids. Kids were playing on the computers, banging on the keyboards and mouse. Need a printer too
The rooms were nice, this hotel is located about 20 min from downtown. The staff have been very friendly and helpful. The pool was a little cold but the kids didn't mind. As I said the staff made the entire stay wonderful
Very pleased with our stay at this hotel. The bed was like a cloud, so comfortable and the room was clean and the service was excellent! Shout out especially to Arnie and Garry for their excellent customer service
The Best Western was really great with the renovations completed since the last time we were there. We enjoyed our stay and how close it is to everything. The restaurant has also improved in quality and service.
We read previous reviews so we were aware that this was an older location. However we were pleased at how clean the hotel is maintained. Our room had all the necessary amenities and the bed was very comfortable. Our reservation was correct and our reception friendly. We had a nightcap at the on-site bar/restaurant as well as morning breakfast. For those who don't want a big morning starter there's always the Tim Horton's across the street. We were there mid-week so it was quite quiet. On winter weekends, it could be different due to the many hockey tournaments in the area.
The Hotel is a little older but well kept. I think they underwent a recent renovation and the pool area is excellent and the rooms were very nice and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful and a request for extra cot in room was no issue. The location worked out for us since we wanted to attend a Hockey game in Kanata and do some sightseeing in Ottawa. If just visiting Ottawa a location closer may be better but for our visit, it worked well. The lounge was nice and even though you had to pay for full breakfast, it was great and filling. There was also plenty of free parking and several other amenities close by.
The staff is great! The restaurant/ bar is really good quality with average prices. The rooms are a good size to make relaxing possible. Pool was very cold making it not usable. The room needed vacuuming as I found someone else's medication on the floor.
I truly enjoyed this great hotel with a huge salt water pool location was excellent and quiet the staff (Melanie Manager and Archie front desk personnel) were extremely helpful and professional and went out of their way to make sure all of our needs were looked after. The hotel is clean and quiet and in a very good location, its the best pool that I have been to so far at Best Westerns. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling for business or pleasure. I will return very soon to this hotel.
On site restaurant has been renovated and now has a sports theme. As my wife and I are both gluten free is was nice to have some options with GF pizza and naked chicken wings. Speaking of being GF Zolas restaurant about 3 minutes away has a very good GF menu as the owner is GF herself. Back to the hotel, the pool is very nice and clean and appreciated by us for our morning swim. The kids love it in the afternoon. This is our go to spot in the Ottawa area and has been for the last 25 years. It has been renovated and the new look is very nice. We will continue for years to come.. John & Sylvie
This hotel has been going through renovations. I stayed away for a year but was pleased with the facility and room. I was very pleased with great breakfast service in the restaurant by Casey (sp?). I'll come back. Downside. The door keys for both room and outside doors did not always work.
Needed a last minute place to stay. They were great and pet friendly. A very clean room. There was no restaurant. However, there were a lot of choices nearby. Having a Tim Hortons across the street was great.
Though the hotel is slightly dated from the outside overall not bad. But the fact that we had to go 3 days with no shower or bath because maintenance never came around to fix issue was annoying. When we first arrived fridge wasn't available either but maid unplugged fridge and plugged it back in and it started to work.
We were in the Ottawa area for a hockey game and to visit family. Stayed 2 nights and were very happy with our room. The staff were excellent and very helpful. The restaurant served a very nice breakfast at a very reasonable price. We would stay here again.
Great friendly helpful check in , nice room and bed , quality pool area ! Very nice pub and great pizza . 16 beers on tap and friendly service ! I would highly recommend this hotel . Fair warning, Ottawa rush hour is from hell !
Best Western always located in good location, it has convenient transportation surround. This hotel has comfortable guest room, I like the king bed best, it has a large swimming pool and vacation room in the same building. Unfortunately it does not offer free breakfast which I like in the early morning. Overall it's a good value for short vacation.
Everything about hotel was good except the noise form the hockey teams both kids and parents Two nights with a sick 2 year old and no sleep possible until late in evening once kids stopped running around and parents stopped partying
Hotel was easy to find and conveniently located. We made good use of the pool and generally found the place to be clean and the staff to be courteous. The walls seemed a little thin - we could hear someone jumping around upstairs, and a squabble in the attached room. Also, for whatever reason, our room keys seemed to reset at noon, and we kept having to go to the front to have them fix it. They were always courteous, but didn't really ask any questions. I could have told them I was locked out of a completely different room and they probably would have immediately given me a key to it. Just another reason to make use of the safe in the room.
Very clean, comfortable if somewhat cramped rooms, but the bed was good. Very reasonable rates. Would absolutely staff here again! Only negative was the restaurant / lounge in the hotel was closed for renovations and you had to go out if you wanted anything. Best value for your money in West Ottawa area (Kanata)
staff are not courteous or friendly. rooms are dirty. maid did not use a vacuum cleaner, and hall way are dirty. don't know how this hotel classifies as a Best Western Plus. maid should be taught how to clean rooms, and how to use the vacuum cleaner.
As part of a bus trip that we had booked for our seniors group we spent two days in Ottawa. This hotel was far enough to not be in the really congested area of Ottawa and yet close enough to take in the major attractions downtown. The Best Western Plus Ottawa Kanata Hotel and Conference Centre was so accommodating. Check in was very fast and efficient and they also arranged to have special breakfast options for us so that we could still get downtown Ottawa for our pre-arranged tours. The hotel is very modern and clean and the beds were very comfortable. You would not be disappointed in a stay at this hotel.
Clean room. Friendly staff. Neet gym and pool. Fairly far from downtown , make sure you plan travel time accordingly to Parlement Hill if you drive during rush hours. Were unable to register reward points on Crown card.
This hotel is a $40 cab fare from the Ottawa Airport. I arrived and was told to carry my bags up the stairs. When prompted for some assistance the hotel clerk said there was a small elevator. Then my bed in the room had not been done up with clean sheets. I was in the exercise room at 6am in the morning as there is only one bike and one treadmill. The computers in the lobby were not working. I found someones wallet by one of the computers and returned it to the front desk. I then asked if the complimentary breakfast was an option and they said no because I got the CAA rate for my room.
This hotel was chosen by business acquaintances in the Ottawa Area. It is a $40 cab ride from the Ottawa Airport. There is an elevator for the second floor guests but you have to ask to find it! If you stay on the main level you might be facing the car park. My bed had dirty sheets on it which meant the hotel staff had not cleaned the room from the previous guest. The front desk staff are bold and brazen and told one guest "beggars can not be choosers". I found a wallet by the computers and returned it to the front desk while asking about their complimentary breakfast. They took the wallet and then told me you have a CAA rate therefore do not get breakfast on the house!
Our stay was not as good as we have experienced here, but it wasn't really bad, either. Just an average hotel. Our room was clean, and the area we were in was quiet, which I was surprised with t he wedding and parties going on.
This hotel was very well taken care of and the staff was friendly. The location of the hotel is centerely located within the National Capital region, easy access to all surounding highways. I recommend this hotel to everyone!
Air conditioning broken, TV not working no cable or Movies, Pool area unsupervised soccer team with mini keg of been in pool area in front of kids Adjoining room door broken as well Door in-to hotel where car was parked was broken. Upon check in our room was not cleaned yet.
Super satisfied with whole experience. Folks at front desk were courteous and helpful. Restaurant was under renovation but lots of alternatives close by. Easy 20 minute cab drive to airport. would certainly stay again.
We had a nice 3-night stay at this Best Western. The people at the reception desk were very courteous and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The A/C was very efficient and is quiet compared to other hotels we have stayed at. I would definitely stay here again. Good, reasonable rates.
We were very impressed by the professionalism and courtesy of the staff. When we asked for anything extra, there was never any wait time and we were always met with a friendly face. Arnie in particular was friendly and clearly has a natural talent for customer service. He took the time to remember my name and made great suggestions for places for us to eat. The Butchery at the plaza across the street has amazing burgers
Newly renovated. Best pet friendly hotel ever! Plenty of grassy places! I paid $140 plus pet fee $20. They do not include breakfast with room...that was an extra $10 per person. I thought that was stingy.... I plan to use this place for our Ottawa visits! Perfect location!
Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Staff is mediocre. Avoid the breakfast. There is a Tim Horton's across the street. Pet Friendly. Plenty of areas to walk dogs. Well lit at night. Get pet rate in writing or take the name of the person who quotes you. Didn't use the indoor pool but it looked well maintained. Gym facilities too.
Our family enjoyed the trip and hotel with our pet Coco. It was close to the race track but there's others closer. The breakfast was surprisingly quick and tasty. Few people took advantage of the breakfast. The rooms were clean and not smelly in spite of the pets roaming around. The indoor heated pool was nice. The hotel is near a TimHortons, an East Side Mario and gas station. What more could you ask for?
Our stay was pleasant. Check in was easy and the staff was very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. There were restaurants within walking distance. The restaurant at the hotel itself was under construction. Express check-out was nice.
It was a quick visit but we were quite pleased. Easy to get to and find. There was for a parking for a trailing we were towing. Nice restaraunt in walking distance and lots of other animators close by.
Up for one night on a business trip. The Best Western was a convenient location which is why I picked it. Check in was prompt and easy. The room was clean, updated and included the usual amenities. My room was on the ground floor with a view of a laneway and fence, so nothing special there. The restaurant was closed for renovations so I was forced to search the area for a pub or bar...found none, but that's not BW's fault. All in all, an ok stay.
Stayed for a week and were given a lot of help from the hotel staff with local knowledge, where to hire a car and helped us book a night away for our trip to Niagara Falls. Hotel is well located for Ottawa and our trips to see family in Perth. We hired a car from Avis which is about 20 mins walk and were able to park for free at the hotel and travel easily into the city centre parking at Rideau Centre for attractions. Pool was ok, but not the best. Room clean and adequate facilities. Good local shops, restaurants etc. All in this turned out to be a comfortable and convenient location for our stay and we would seriously consider staying here again if we came back.
Good location to Ottawa downtown, easy access to the Ottawa area. Lots of parking at the hotel and very clean rooms and would stay again if going to Ottawa. Lots of shopping in the area and restaurants.
This hotel, which I have frequented many times, needs an update to the rooms. I love the salt-water pool but mourn the loss of the hot tub and sauna. It is overpriced (especially on the weekend) for the quality of the rooms and the location. I may not stay here again. Also it would have been nice to have been warned on check-in that the restaurant was not available for breakfast and to have given us some nearby options.
A comfortable bed, convenience and safety are very important details for those who are 60+ and travelling. Each of these attributes were present on our recent stay at the Best Western Hotel in Ottawa Don't be fooled by the exterior of the hotel. The interior has been completely renovated. Indoor parking, clean rooms and comfortable beds. The staff are very accommodating and provided very helpful information about where to eat and the sights to see. They even sent our pillows we left in our room to our home address. Would recommend the hotel very high on customer service.
We enjoyed our stay, pool and room clean and bright. The private patio's and balconies were a nice surprise. Location is convenient with everything you may need near by, even within walking distance. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Would stay here again if in the area.
Stopped here on our way to pick up our youngest from summer camp. Hotel isn't in the best part of town, but it was clean and staff were friendly. Room was recently renovated and was very clean and nicely appointed. Bed was super comfy and linens were clean and not stiff like other hotel linens can be. Room was quiet and our one night's stay was enjoyable.
If you have a well-behaved pet and you want a clean, large room in an unpretentious hotel, make this your choice. Staff are friendly and helpful. Tim Horton's coffee shop across the street. Hotel is on a main street, but there's a large (hidden) schoolyard park close by. Recommended.
My husband and I stayed here for the National HOG rally in July 2017. The hotel is lovely, clean and comfortable. It's in proximity to restaurants and city transit which we utilized to go into Ottawa for an evening. The indoor pool is kept at a warm temperature which is still very refreshing. The courtyard are in the rear of the hotel was a wonderful meeting area for our large group. I would definitely stay here again.
We were in town for the national HOG rally, little issue checking in but on was beautiful, staff rectified issue in a timely manner. Disappointed that on site restaurant wasn't open & we should have been advised of this prior our arrival.
this hotel is a real gem in the city of Ottawa, tons of restaurants, shopping, banks, and easy to get downtown great pool, clean room friendly staff, a must to stay when in Ottawa. The hotel is large yet feels comfy and home like. Good value in price specially in high season.
The best thing about this Best Western was the pool. No hot tub but the pool was relatively warm and good for swimming. Laundry facility was advertised but not available. Room was comfortable/ excellent bed and pillows. Front desk staff were quite helpful with transportation suggestions, etc. Breakfast was mediocre and restaurant was closed (couldn't tell if they were renovating or had any plans on reopening)
I go at this hotel for rest with my wife. The room was very clean. I have a room with a king size bed and a hide bed sofa (2 sit). Personally, I have a problem with my spine so I prefer when I have a recliner sofa to moving at the right position for my back. There's no recliner into the room. Maybe it's a good way to offer a recliner instead a standard sofa to their clients...
We booked 6 mo. in advance for a National Rally. They overbooked and we were being moved to another hotel even though our travel friends that booked a few weeks prior had a room. My name was pulled out a hat!! My trust with booking with you is shattered You have shattered my trust in booking with your hotel!!!
Our group booked a block of rooms for approximately 30 guests 11 months in advance of our stay, but when we arrived we were informed that the hotel was over booked and that they bumped 5 of our members to another hotel.
The Best Western hotel was an excellent place to stay the night with the grandchildren, they loved the indoor pool. It was very clean and the staff was friendly and a very short drive to downtown Ottawa. There are lots of stores close by and a beer store that you can walk to and return to your room and your beer will still be cold. lol
There was an issue during checkin with the room. There was a mechanical problem with an odor in the room. I was immediately changed to a different room with help offered to move my luggage. The staff were very helpful. I understand that things can go wrong in business but it is how you respond to the problems that make a company succeed. Best Western Kanata handled the problem in a very professional way with my comfort and convenience paramount. Thanks for the great stay Best Western. I look forward to staying with you again.
Great Hotel, awesome staff and lovely rooms, clean and all services included. The hotel is close to restaurants, night life and Ottawa, Ontario. Also close to a major highway, bright and cheery and the bed was so comfortable.
Always pleasant surprises await us at Best Western We were upgraded to a suite by the front desk upon arrival. Makes you feel special. Made for a nice start to our vacation. Always glad we choose them anywhere we travel in North America. Same thing happened in Florida.
Was charged for ridiculous fees especially knowing when I told them when booking we were a family of 5. (2 adults three kids ) ............................................................................will not waste my time at a best western again if they all do the same
An average hotel outside of downtown Ottawa for a reasonable price on a major holiday weekend . Close to bus service. Rooms were clean , beds comfortable. No breakfast included, There is an attached restaurant, food was good but slow service. Tim's across the street.
Good location. Friendly staff. Wifi not good. Coffee machine filthy. Breakfast not worth the extra cost. Go to tims across the street. A/C very noisy. Nice balcony and privacy. Clean room and bathroom.
Nice décor. Bed fantastic. Great pillows. Staff friendly, although lacking basic knowledge (desk clerk unaware how to retrieve phone messages in room - said I I could find out with housekeeper. The hotel was good value for the money.
Entire hotel had a very musty/smoky odour. There was excessive partying/noise in the early morning hours. Beds were comfortable and pool area was very nice but we did not use the pool this trip. Staff were friendly.
We stayed here while visiting my elderly grandma. It was a trip with myself, my husband, our 5 & 3 year olds and my mother. We chose this hotel due to proximity to where we needed to be. I have stayed here YEARS ago (at least 20 years) and it was a typical, budget hotel. This visit was a pleasure. The staff were very nice, the hotel seemed very clean, the room was spotless and in good repair, each Tom where we were had a little bistro set out the patio doors and it was very quiet (even though it was busy). The pool area was clean, though it did lack pool towels. It far exceeded my expectations for the price. I would definitely stay here again!
Our family of four stayed here for one week during a house-hunting trip. We didn't find a house to buy, but this hotel served as the perfect home base for our search. The rate was reasonable, the beds were comfortable, the balcony on our room was wonderful and the salt-water pool was a welcome reprieve from the heat wave! There was massive construction on the road but you couldn't really hear it from the back of the hotel. Although the hotel has a restaurant, we also got breakfast and supper items from the grocery store across the street and kept them in the fridge. There is also a communal microwave on the 2nd floor at the top of the stairs.
It was an enjoyable stay. Staff were very professional, courteous and extremely friendly and helpful Room was comfortable and very clean. Would certainly use Best Western where ever we travel. Kudos to staff.
I booked 7 rooms for 4 night for and 2 meeting rooms for 4 days for our business. Some of our staff can be quite picky at times and I has no complaints. Great spot for a small conference or seminars..
We have planned a trip for our church group in September and we wanted a hotel that was not directly in the congested area of downtown and yet accessible. We found it in this Best Western. It was only a short drive to the City Centre of Ottawa. This hotel offered great location; clean rooms with comfortable beds, and more. The staff was very courteous and we know everyone will be happy with our choice of this hotel.
Hotel staff good but room pretty run down. 150 doolars a night and a best western plus you would expect breakfast . But no had to purchase at rest.? Also told hotel was full but this was not true . Tried for upgrade but no luck. People still coming in when we checked into room at 1030 pm. Just an average stay at a best western. Nothing great.
Located very close to both the 416 and 417 highways. Easy access to downtown Ottawa and the Parliament buildings. Drive was about 20 minutes. Lots of restaurants and shopping near the hotel. Lovely heated indoor pool that was refreshing at the end of a busy day. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Restaurant in the hotel sells breakfast. Food is good and quick.
This correctly rated 3 star hotel is in the outskirts of Ottawa but extremely easy to get around the city . The bed and pool were fabulous, the rooms were very clean, if not dated . Wifi was great. Breakfast was good too!
My brother and his wife and I were all disappointed in this hotel. While we got a satisfactory room with 2 Queens as requested, it was narrow and hard to manoeuver around in. The quality of the hotel certainly surprised us for being rated a PLUS B/W. It is in need of a refresh and currently the foyer is being renovated. We got extra coffee/coffee mate when requested. Breakfast was not included and they only honoured two of my brother's three "frequent stays" coupons. While we had intended to stay two nights there, we cancelled out of the second night (the rate was higher the second night) and we decided to drive back to Toronto the next evening. The pool was being enjoyed by other families, but we had to call down to the office as kids were making a lot of noise out in the halls even at 10pm.
Service pour and the restaurant was closed so no dinner or room service Remote didn't work right on the tv No hot water Lighting in the room was dim and the hotel Was very loud for the two nights that I stayed there
Super clean and very large rooms.staff is super friendly and helpful. Love this hotel. Across the street from a cool brew pub, and other restaurants. We were really impressed with the room...a nice living room with microwave...then a second room being a large bedrooms with comfy bed.
We chose this hotel, as we needed to go to several locations and it was central. The lobby was under renovations, and arriving at midnight, we had to find it in the dark. We had to call the front desk a few times, and no one was there to answer the phone. There is a small problem with the checkout and our bill. We paid for it in January, through Priceline, but were charged for the full 5 days once we left. Last night, there were a group of young kids (10 and under), running up and down the halls, up on the second floor. No parental supervision.
Drove up and there was paper covering lobby windows and a barricade at the door. Walked around and found sign saying temp entrance. Place was being remodeled and not a word on their web site in Trip Advisor nor when made the resv over phone with Best Western Poor! Not only was lobby being redone but so were rooms. Our bathroom had updated tub and toilet but also the walls were in being plastered and they stopped when we checked in. They only had one microwave for the entire building sitting on a stand in the hall. The one ice machine in our building never had ice. A maintenance man took us to a building out the back door for ice We did ask about a break in price or breakfast but told no. Today is May 18 and we were told upgrades expected to be completed in two weeks. The only positive is there is a nice and friendly restaurant next door, Briitalia that we enjoyed
As we tried to check-in in a down-pour we found the canopy entrance blocked off for construction so we got soaked using the makeshift unprotected entryway that was substantially blocked by parked cars so we had to run across the lot with our bags. Not much thought by management. When we got our bill there was a previously undisclosed charge for a "marketing fee" of about $5.00 per night. Telephone explanation was that the hotel charges for marketing and promotion in the big cities! Hotel did agree to reverse this charge - but word to the wise - be careful. At virtually every corner the wallpaper was peeling off the bathroom walls. Finally in the bath/shower there was no grab rail/bar of any kind. Probably a building code violation. Room was clean.
Stayed here with our basketball team as part of the Ontario basketball championships. Obviously nowhere close to downtown Ottawa but served a purpose well for the tournament. We paid $125 which seems like a pretty decent rate. The rooms are not huge but the beds are definitely very comfortable. Probably the most comfortable bed you will find in a Best Western. The staff was very accommodating and provided good service. We did have an issue with our breakfast in that it took much too long however will not let this reflect poorly on the hotel as it seems to be different management.
This hotel is in the midst of a much-needed renovation and upgrade, but the staff are doing a good job of keeping the customers satisfied. The prices are reasonable, considering that Ottawa is a very over-priced market.
Helpful staff, comfortable room, reasonable rate. An older hotel going through reception area updating when I was there. Restaurant food okay. Warm pool was nice. Convenient parking. I had to study at night and drink tea. First hotel I've ever been in anywhere in the world that doesn't supply tea bags in the room. Coffee yes but you're out of luck if you drink tea.
We arrived in town approx 930pm and after trying a number of other hotels that had no vacancies we checked the Best Western and were told they only had 2 rooms left available. The hotel is currently under renovations. The 2 gentlemen at the makeshift front desk were certainly friendly and courteous and advised of the renovations. The room itself was clean and was not cramped for space. We were a party of 2 in a room with 2 queen size beds. The lamp on the bedside table was missing a lightbulb and I did notice that there was no baseboard trim in the bathroom.
Very good motel to stay in with restaurant part of the motel Clean pool area fixness room is clean the staff was very good to us close to stores and gas bar across the street very quit for sleeping good motel
Great trip to Ottawa. Stayed over as we attended a 60th Birthday party. Excellent hotel location just was of the city. The hotel is under renovations but our room was very nice and the construction did not impact us at all. Very nice setting and great staff. We will be staying at this location again for sure. Ottawa what a great city so much to do and so clean.
The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It felt like you were sleeping on a cloud. The staff are very friendly and welcoming to pets. I will definitely stay at this location again when in Ottawa
I was unaware how much the hotel is undergoing renovations- I would have liked to be informed before booking. I had a late check-in and early departure- didn't use pool or restaurant- so no comments. I was located on first floor next to service - lots of early am noise. Sorry that this trip was so disrupted- I have a daughter attending University and was looking for a good place/reasonably priced for consistency- I think I'll have to move on.
Compared to other Best Western Plus hotels that we've stayed at this was below the standard. It looks like BW has purchased this location and its under construction/updating. The lobby is under construction and the staff apologized for the conditions. Our room was standard queen room, but much to our surprise upon entering the bathroom floor had black hair on it - it was like the floor hadn't been cleaned which didn't leave a good first impression - we made house keeping aware of the fact and it was rectified. Unfortunately Continental breakfast wasn't included which was a surprise. Not sure I will be returning to this BW plus hotel.
Hotel staff was great only there's a massive bug problem that needs to be taken care of before I stay there again. Staff went out of their way to assist and compensate but reacted as though they were already aware of problem.
Recently stayed here for an Ottawa Senators hockey game at Canadian Tire Centre. The staff was very friendly. Our room was clean and spacious. The hotel was low frills but that was fine! They are currently undergoing a renovation in their main lobby. If you are looking for an affordable and clean property, I highly recommend the BW!
Most comfortable bed ever slept in, hotel is close to amenities, no breakfast included and is under renovations causing some inconveniences. It is a middle of the road choice but nothing to write home about.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The experience was very pleasant and the hotel is well located in the west end of Ottawa so it was easy for us to get where we had to go. The bed was comfortable and they are pet friendly.
I travel monthly with my daughter for sports for the last 7 years. Staying here was the best experience we had so far. Friendly Staff, clean rooms, and very accommodating for a large group ( we booked 60 rooms). If you are travelling in big groups or individual, this is by far the best motel to book!! Thanks so much to all the staff for making our group feel at home for the weekend!!
staying there is like being at home. Everyone is friendly and is always helpful. The rooms are very clean and your room is spotless. the exterior is well maintained as well as the interior. Right across the road is everything you need restaurant and if you need essentials.
The wife and I enjoyed our stay in Ottawa. Every red blooded Canadian should visit our countries capital. Thanks Jamal; Mr. Funny. You are amazing. This guy went out of his way to answer all our questions and checked us in smoothly. I shall return.
The title says it all. From booking the room directly with the hotel, checking in, staying there and leaving the experience could not have been better. Every staff member we met went out of their way to be helpful and courteous. The room was exceptionally clean and well-maintained as was the whole hotel.
We chose this Hotel as we were driving in from Toronto staying 2 days in Ottawa and then driving on to Montreal. It is well located off the main highways but easy to get to and just a few kilometres from the city centre. It is on a main road that runs into the city and we were easily able to catch a Bus in and out again. The front desk staff are excellent and very helpful with directions and other information. The rooms are a bit tired, but renovations are underway at the time we were there so will only get better. even though they were a bit tired they were very clean and comfortable. Restaurant attached to hotel is good, good food and good value. Would definitely recommend it unless you need to stay in the heart of the city.
I stayed at this hotel one night. It's not in the city so that was a plus. The front desk staff gets an A++. I would like to thank my new friend who was fast and friendly. I can't remember his name but he is from Barbados and has a great smile. Overall, I recommend this BW having stayed at a few.
The customer service representatives were very helpful and friendly, this is a well cleaned and maintained property, the amenities are good, and its conveniently located. Its very close to Ottawa and near the highway to make getting home much easier than if you stay right in Ottawa. I would definitely stay again!
I have stayed at this hotel a few times while in Ottawa on business. I have never been dissatisfied in any manner. Staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. We noticed the fireplace was not working for us and called downstairs. Staff member was at our door within 5 minutes and fixed it. Comfortable bed, Fair value for what we received. TV a little small for the size of the room but not a great concern for me. I will be back.
My husband & I truly enjoyed the room we booked. This room had everything a person could need. The employees are happy, energetic, polite & especially helpful. This hotel is on the main drag & within walking distance to stores & restaurants. Also, there is a restaurant within this hotel. A good one. We would recommend this hotel to everybody.
this was for a wedding quests. everyone there was friendly and very good to us in every way. From rooms to breakfast. A there was 26 of us there between fri night and a sat night. Breakfast at the hotel feed the clan was excellent for our group on sunday morning as we could not have had anything better and were all able to sit together in two groups of 12 +. Thank you for all your help in everything
Red flag 1: The Hotel is or at least was under construction the night I stayed there and as such rates should be steeply discounted due to the condition of the property. Red flag 2: When you get a look at the place first thought is 60's era motel and not in a good way. I wasn't born in the 60's but that's what I thought. Red flag 3: Where's the sheer/privacy curtain so I can have sunlight minus nosey people. Confirmed with the front desk no rooms have sheer curtains nor has ever had. Strange. Red flag 4: What's that smell? Must have been a smoking motel/hotel in a past life. Developed respiratory problems and a sore throat while there. Suspect smell was from the carpets but perhaps the whole room was emitting. Red flag 5: Thin walls/windows resulting in road noise on main street. Had to move rooms from 2nd floor to 1st floor to get away from it. If you do stay request a second floor room in the back as each room has either a balcony or walk-out which was one of the few good things. Maybe the only good thing besides the staff. Had a 3-night stay booked which I cut short after a single night and moved over for a couple dollars less per night to the Hampton Inn by Hilton. As for some further clarification was on the tail end of a road trip thru New England and spent the past 6 nights at Best Westerns in the U.S. with exceptional results. So as a Canadian I was pretty disappointed by the condition of this particular Best Western in Canada versus the previous ones in the U.S. Had the nightly rate been significantly less this review and my expectations would have been a lot different.
I arrived at the property late evening; somewhat dismayed due to construction. However, team at front desk very pleasant and quick. My room was terrific; very clean and totally updated. Ample light and working space. The bed was very comfortable too and room quiet. This was my first experience in staying at a best western property. And was very pleased with the value and the accommodation. And as it was cold damp evening; I dinned in the restaurant. This too was very nice. In summary, my next trip I will attempt to stay at this location.
Once again, a very enjoyable stay at this hotel (and the beds are extra comfortable!). The staff are very helpful and we will stay there again on our next trip to Ottawa. What else is there to say? (Why do I have to submit a 200m word minimum when I can say it in less?)
this is the worst best western I have ever stayed at. no breakfast. room stinks. light in room don't work. restaurant closes at 9 pm. very dangers to wake around under construction and nothing marked off. shaft slow on check in. on check out the older desk clerk look like he d just come off a 3 day drunk.
A great place to stay with amenities close by. Very clean, nice rooms and restaurant. We have stayed here several times and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Great value for your money. Seems to be a very popular spot.
Pro - the staff were friendly, reasonable location, lots of shops nearby including pharmacy, gas, coffee shops, etc. Con - our room looked clean however I had to use clorox wipes to clean the bathroom; tub, toilet, counter, and sink. Clearly whoever had the room before us was shedder and I don't know how the cleaning staff missed all that the black hair! Considering we were passing through and it was just a place to rest our heads, it was not worth the effort at the time to complain about it. Thankfully since I had cleaning wipes it was just easier to do it myself.
We stayed the night before at the Best Western in Edmunston, New Brunswick. Our first stay at a Best Western and we were so impressed, we booked Ottawa-Kanata based on it. We arrived after 8 pm and would have missed the location as it was dark, poorly lit. The handicapped parking spot was uneven and with the lighting would have been an issue for some. There was a small group of young men standing around outside smoking close to the buildings. We could not enter by the front door, as access was closed due to construction. The gentleman at the front desk was exceptional. Advised us of the usual protocol. Told us the restaurant was open until 9. We headed to our room and the smell of wet chemicals was strong. One area had carpet torn up, the hallway had a fan filling more then half the width of the hallway. The room, well, felt like something off a back 40 highway and a horror movie set. The room was clean, just poorly lit and a beige/orange colour. We put our luggage on the tables, too nervous to leave them on the floor, and went to the restaurant. t this point, we were tired and hungry and willing to suck it up. We get to the lobby, where the men who were outside, were now inside. The restaurant was closed! It was barely 8:30! I waited and asked for the managers card, then I asked for his bosses card and then asked for his bosses card/name! Tired, hungry and disappointed, I was turning to livid. I told the guy at the front desk, it was nothing to due with him, but this was a disappointing booking. We got back to the room and started looking up restaurants and hotels online. The phone rang and the front desk called and offered a discount on the room. We accepted, and eventually went out and grabbed Subway subs. While eating, we noticed something on the desk, an ant. Then we noticed another. We killed both and tore the beds apart, They appeared clean. I sent an email off to both the manager and his boss. Come morning, I had a reply email from the manager who asked to meet for a coffee. I cannot say enough good things about him. He was beyond personable. He addressed all my concerns. The front entry was closed that one day only while they did a new install of a stone walk way. The lightning, new up/down lights are on order as part of a huge renovation project. The carpet was removed due to an install of a new elevator. The smell and fan, the carpets had just been cleaned and were too wet. Rooms and hotel are checked on a regular bases by pest control, but when a critter wants in, he is getting in. And I can accept that. The restaurant was actually closing and relocating that weekend, so they were not concerned about their commitment to the hotel. We were given vouchers for a free breakfast that morning, it was delicious. When checking out the manager offered to arrange our stay on the way back. We stayed two nights on the return trip home. Was night and day from the previous stay! The front was still getting worked on, but during the day, we could see the amount of renovations and work being done. Impressive. Loved the landscaping too! The handicapped space appeared to have been painted (cannot say for sure, but looked fresh). We were given a King room with a jacuzzi. Only issues, no elevator in this area, the vending machines were outside our door and was noisy at times and the television was stubborn to use. But hey, we were not there for the tv! Excellent bed, great sleep. Amazing staff and a manager who cared. They are looking to do hockey packages, room and transportation to the game, including pick up! The new restaurant was opening as we were leaving. Described as a combination of Italian and British best! I have friends already to try it out! I recommend this place because the renovations are making a huge difference and the staff deserve community support and the manager actually takes pride in his location and was very hands on! We will be back!! Our stay was discounted, but does not sway my review. Had the return visit not have had such a good room, we would have stayed elsewhere.
The room was too close to the pop machine and the doors where everyone congregated in the early morning. other wise the staff were great and location was good. We only had a 20 minute drive to visit our relatives.
NICE HOTEL rooms were very nice and clean. Wes at the front desk very good as well as all of the other employees i dealt with. renovations are in and hotel will look awesome i am sure when done. althoughits at the end of an era for there hot tub the pool is big and water temperature was good while swimming (not freezing cold) thank you for a wonderful stay at the bw kanata on robertson rd.
Good location, very clean and comfortable Friendly staff, a bit not convenient to go outside to go to the room instead of lobby but overall good hotel to stay at Beds are comfortable, nice tv and quick access to the outside
The Staff is Great the Hotel is a little Dated but it does look like they are trying to update the outside. I was disappointed at the price they charge that a Breakfast of some kind wasn't included but I did know that when I booked it
After a long drive, I was looking forward to a nice soak in the hot tub advertised on the Best Western website. I was disappointed to find that the salt water pool was very cloudy, I didn't go in, the sauna had been turned into a change room and the hot tub was empty. I informed the check-in clerk that I was disappointed that there was no hot tub, as advertised and was told that the hot tub will be eliminated to enlarge the exercise room. I informed him that Best Western needs to update their website! No apology! Perhaps I should have been upgraded to a suite with a jaccuzzi. The hotel was undergoing renovations during our stay with carpet ripped up etc... Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The air conditioning worked well. We were on the first floor with a door from our room to the parking area which made loading and unloading very accessible. Not sure I would stay at this location again.
I reserved through Expedia only to find out that the reservation was for another date and unfortunately they were booked up. Wes the front desk manager took it upon himself to locate a hotel nearby and even got me a discount. He went above and beyond. Although I didn't get the pleasure of staying at this hotel from the little I did get to see I would highly recommend.
once we found the hotel we had a great time........the grandchildren ( aged 6 & 8) enjoyed the pool.and one grandchild needed glutenfree & lactose free food which they were able to provide( not a lot of options, but something is better than nothing)...the front desk staff were very helpful in providing directions to museums etc.
Clean, going through some renovations. Helpful staff. Room was big enough for the four of us. Children enjoyed the swimming pool and exercise room. Easy to access highway and downtown Ottawa. Would recommend this to others.
We were placed in this hotel with our family and dog. We stayed from may 6-June 18, 2016. Here the staff at the front desk went above and beyond to make our stay feel like home. 5 stars for Melanie..Wes...Jessica. As well as the housekeeping staff treated us like family....thank you to all of you.
Nice place to stop when travelling with a dog. I can walk my dog to the close park. The pool area is nice to relax after a day of travelling. This was not my first time stopping there, and I will stop again if the I had to travel in that direction.
This was easially accessable from the highway and had good parking. The room felt quite spacious and offered sliding patio doors which was nice. A safe, coffee machine, fridge and microwave were included. The pool was very nice, had good depth and was an ideal temparature. However, the hotel was undergoing renovations when we stayed, also it was a while away from the centre of ottawa so you need a car if you stay here. It wasnt an amazing hotel but it did the job .
Good location outside of the main downtown area. Great if you have a wedding to go to at Strathmere, or if you just don't want to have to deal with parking prices downtown. It is about 15 minutes from downtown, near the airport. Located in a commercial area of town with a few restaurants and stores close by. This property requires that you drive in to the downtown core, I did not notice any public transit in this particular area, however there may be a short distance away. Accommodations are adequately priced for the area and the quality of the property. I would recommend this hotel for the mid budget traveler. One comment though, no breakfast is included. Which is unfortunate, because if I was traveling elsewhere for that price it would have been included.
We were very disappointed with this hotel. Normally we try to stay at Best Westerns and are usually very satisfied. We found the room very dark and small (for a PLUS). The exterior looks like it was going through renovations and it was too close to the main road, causing a high traffic.
comfortable rooms although no breakfast of any sort disappointed no coffee in the lobby under construction in the front and hallways but it was not disruptive. quite a large property/close to stores and restaurants
This property was undergoing landscaping construction in the front section of the parking lot. The crew on site was wary about guests and even stopped to allow us to pass by. Work done so far is awesome. Several upgrades have already been done in the rooms as well. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There is an awesome restaurant, Fitz's, on site, and some shopping is available within walking distance.
Located in Kanata, a thirty minute drive by car to downtown Ottawa, the hotel was just okay...nothing special. Water pressure average, toilet let out a horn type sound every time we flushed the toilet. Asked to change the bed linen, wasn't done. Not spotless clean in the bathroom and the rug seemed old and dated. Had breakfast one day in the hotel/motel, it was average, again nothing special. Front desk was helpful with bus directions to the downtown area for Canada Day. Would much rather stay downtown Ottawa, this hotel seemed isolated. Plenty of parking and was included in the price to stay. Would not go back.
Dull front office staff , arrived at 2.20pm was told to sit for 40 mins ,did not show any urgency to call cleaning staff to hurry up or have an estimate, have never experienced this treatment before , noisy at night , room was ok they need an upgrade for sure, no free breakfast
Went there last weekend and had the worst stay. We were 20 mins early for check-in at 3 and our room was not ready. The lady at the front desk seemed not interested. No welcome greeting, no smile, she did not even bother to check with the staff to see how long the room would be ready in. She just kept stapling some papers at the desk and was somewhere in la la land. This shows the complete lack of training and customer service skills. The environment was super noisy late at night. Seems like there was a big party in the rooms around us and there were drunk people talking, screaming and we could also hear people close to our balcony at the back and dogs barking late at night. We just could not sleep. I would definitely not recommend this Best Western location. Extremely disappointed by the level of service at a Best Western. We have stayed at BWs in a lot of cities in the U.S. and Canada but this one was just a let down. 2 thumbs down. ????
Located close to 417 which provides excellent access to Carleton Place as well as downtown Ottawa. Reasonable rates and convenient free parking. Rooms are going through some upgrades but are very comfortable. The coffee maker is lousy; but Starbucks and Tim Horton's are close by. Fitz restaurant on the premises serves good barbeque. There are also some excellent restaurants very close by.
The hotel was under construction, no hot tub, messy in work areas. Why not post this stuff on website at time of booking. Then it's client beware. No coffee or complimentary breakfast available. Otherwise the drive to our destination point was good, I compare this hotel to a roadside motel but way more expensive.
During my stay the hotel staff made sure my stay was as nice as possible. Restaurant on site with excellent meals as well as restaurants in walking distance Easy access to main highways to get to downtown. Will stay at this hotel again
7 of us were recently there for a weekend family funeral. The rooms were all together as requested but unfortunately we were put on the 1st floor and 2 of the rooms were on the driveway side, so you really could not have your drapes open if you wanted any kind of privacy. This made the room very dark and cave like. On our 1st morning we went for breakfast and were completely underwhelmed. My Spanish omelette lacked flavour and instead of cheddar, it had a slice of plasticy process cheese. I was also charged extra for my Earl Grey tea. The waitress also spent more time complaining about her cat getting out than she actually served us. Other staff members re-filled our drinks, brought us missing cutlery and even our food. Upon returning to the hotel we discovered that our room's door would not unlock. We were told that there was no maintenance staff in on the weekend, so we had to switch rooms. No help was offered to help move our things. So I seriously doubt that I would ever return or recommend this hotel.
Spent a recent weekend here. Found the place getting a bit run down. Surprised they didn't have the typical complementary breakfast though there is a nice restaurant on site. Room was a little small and had a wardrobe acting as a closet. Overall clean. Small workout room to allow you to cover the basics. Hot tub was drained and out of commission. Did not use the pool. Good location for the west side of Ottawa but you basically would have to drive or take public transportation if you want to go anywhere. Staff are very outgoing and friendly. Front desk was extremely helpful to us getting to and from the Canadian Tire Center. Would stay here again.
We arrived around 4 pm in the afternoon. Checkin was quick and we were warmly welcomed. As per our booking we were allocated a bedroom with two queen size beds. The room was large and clean and a a coffee maker, ironing board and iron were provided. Air conditioning was good. Unfortunately, despite our request for a quiet room at the time of booking, we were allocated a room facing the main road. The sound insulation in the window is extremely poor and you could hear traffic all the time. We did not check the television and all electrics on arrival. After freshening up we went out and returned late. We found there was some problem with the electrics as the TV, refrigerator and two lamps on one side of the room were not working. Did not even attempt using coffee maker as it was on the same electric circuit. Since it was late and we were tired we decided not to call reception to complain. It is a shame that attention to finer points in customer care like allocating a quieter room or ensuring all electric items were working slightly ruined our stay.
The staff were nice, we were "upgraded" to a room with a Jacuzzi ....not one but two - which was odd in itself. One in the main area, one in the bathroom....the shower was small and dark. The bed was comfy, the room was clean ...unfortunately the fireplace was noisy during the night and as we were located near door A - I suspect that is where the night staff takes their breaks (every 45 minutes there was chatting just outside our patio door). No complimentary breakfast at this one.
Enjoyable trip. Good service at the Bar and restaurant. Room are clean and nice. We didn't use the pool or Gym but they looked well maintained. It is a little remote from Ottawa Downtown but being close to 417 it was easy to get Downtown.
Very nice stay, me and my girlfriend really enjoyed our stay. I've stayed here before and it was great stay then too. The only thing was that the heating pool didn't work when me and my girlfriend was there. they are putting an elevator in the hotel witch will make it easier for people who have problem going up stairs and people with wheel chairs. Over all we would recommend this hotel. Hope you enjoy it too. Thanks.
To say that this spot is lacking curb appeal would be an understatement...it seemed a bit neglected and forgotten. But, the lobby and rooms are quite nice and on a par with any other Best Western facility we have stayed in. We stayed overnight here after taking in a concert at the Canadian Tire Centre. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained. Although we didn't have time to use the pool and fitness centre, they appeared very modern, clean and inviting. We had quick supper and breakfast at the on-site restaurant and were very satisfied with both. Nicely situated about fifteen minutes away from the Canadian Tire Centre, there is also a shopping complex across the road with a few stores and places to eat. We were very satisfied with our stay here.
Stayed with grandchildren during March Break. Room, King Executive Suite was spacious and clean.Kids really enjoyed saltwater pool. Looking forward to staying next year when installation of elevator will be completed.
Check in was very pleasant. Had a very friendly gentleman, who checked us in. Stayed in a whirlpool suite that was very nice. Room was very clean, an comfortable. Only problem walls a little thin woke up in the earl morning to neighbours horrible sounding cough. :( Checkout was simple just handed the room cards in and said goodbye. Hotel close to Canadian Tire Centre, shopping and restaurants. All in all a pleasant nights stay.
We had been on the road for about 5 hours. We were extemely tired. As soon as we walked in the door we saw a boys hockey team. We thought we were in for a long night, we asked the gentleman checking us in if he could put us faitra very peaceful night. r away from them and he did. Thus making When we arrived our room was ready and spotless. Bed was very comfortable and clean. We did not use the pool or gym but the pool was much larger than the average pool in hotels. All and all a great stay for us.
Check in and check out staff were nice and friendly, happy with the service but some House keeping staff should be trained more, Overall stay was good. I was disturbed 4 time between 10:00 to 12:00 while I asked for late check out.I needed two hours sleep which was intrupted.
Room relatively clean (don't just clean the toilet seat, clean around it too please, as was obvious this isn't done). Bed quite comfortable. Did not use restaurant or any other services. Staff at front desk friendly. Did NOT like that you felt the need to charge my c-card $100 as collateral just to stay. That should have been mentioned in advance.
Just the ticket! Two very comfy queen beds. Fridge necessary as restaurant opens at 7:00am (we had to be out early) - we bought breakfast food at Metro grocery across the street. They are renovating second floor near pool - we never heard a thing, no major problems. And a lobby fireplace with actual real logs burning!!
i feel a little bit of uncomfortable with the guy who was in front deck.the procedure for check out was great efficient. i thought there was in construction then carpet looks mess.the towels were not soft so feel uncomfortable.
It was the perfect location to where we wanted to go. The lobby had a nice fireplace that was cozy and warm. The front desk staff was very nice and went above and beyond to help me navigate the transit system. Did not expect that from them, and it was very much appreciated. There is a microwave on the first floor and a vending machine on the second. Our room was clean, spacious, though there was a slight draft coming from the balcony door. Clean towels and nice big tub. Was not able to take advantage of the pool but there was not a lot of people using it. Overall I would definitely go back there next time. Also there's a Thai restaurant next door that is a must.
The staff were very friendly and very helpful. However the hotel in in need of renovations inside and out. They are currently making renovations to add a needed elevator which will be helpful for guests. My room was an upgraded room, and it was defiantly in need of some upgrading so I can quite imagine what the other general rooms must be like.
This was not worth the price. It was, at best, worth half the price we paid. The room was large and comfortable, though there were parts that needed some work and updating, and I question the safety of a certain ghetto patch job in the room. The hotel is also well situated with a Tim Horton's and lots of things right across the street (if Kanata is what you're going for). However, we booked for the pool and it was cold to the point of being almost unusable. We had a very truncated swim and left somewhat annoyed. The hot tub was also out of service. Be advised there's no elevator here. All in all there was nothing "Plus" about this Best Western. It would barely have made the standard for a regular Best Western, and certainly not at the price we paid.
This was a great stay and the price was good too. I was very close to all that I needed to be near so that minimal time was wasted for the purpose of my trip. I needed to be close to my shops and also the highway for an easy exit from the city at the busy time of the day. Good value and it is being renovated for a better look.
My wife and I recently spent the night in this hotel. If is a very nice comfortable hotel. The layout is a bit unusual and despite construction in the lobby area, the staff are very friendly and courteous. Our room was nicely appointed, the internet worked well, bed is nicely appointed with linen, comforter and pillows. The bed was extremely comfortable. Although the hotel is not a high end establishment, it is very reasonable for the quality you receive and it is a close driving distance to Ottawa center, but not during rush hour. Mind you...nothing is close in Ottawa during rush hour. All in all, a very nice hotel and would recommend to my friends.
Good quality hotel, convenient location with clean pool and good restaurant right on site. Also good place to bring the family. Lots of restaurants also in the area and shopping mall not far away. Easy access to major highways makes it convenient if going to various points in Kanata or Ottawa West.
Pros: Staff was friendly, courteous and helpful, kids enjoyed the large indoor pool, location was convienent for our Ottawa visit Cons: Old dated hotel rooms are dreary, no elevator, hotel restaurant is terrible, hotel is overpriced and nothing is included not even a Continental breakfast in fact they added in an extra $30 charge for a cot ($10 per night)
My boyfriend and I stayed in their king suite for 1 night. Upon arriving we were a little worried as we found the exterior shabbier that we typically expect from a Best Western however once in our room we were very happy. It looked recently updated. The two person jacuzzi was inviting as was the fireplace. The bathroom was roomy and the king bed was very comfortable. We will stay here again if we need to go back to Ottawa.
I was quite disappointed in my stay at this hotel. My husband and I are not fussy but we were not pleased with the quality of the room. The bed was not comfortable and the sheets were somewhat rough. The bathroom had minimal supplies - soap, shampoo and conditioner, but no shower cap or hand cream. The shower was good, but the toilet paper and tissues were not even worthy of a gas station restroom! Bring your own if you intend to stay here. During my trip to Bayshore Shopping Center I was even tempted to take a wad of toilet paper with me for later use at the hotel because theirs was much softer! The temperature of the room was not easily controlled. Either it was too hot or too cold, and we woke up the next morning with coughs from the dryness. On a positive note though, the receptionist at the desk the next morning was lovely. When she asked about our stay and I told her my concerns she graciously deducted 15% off the bill. Won't help though. Although this hotel was well located for us we are not likely to stay there again.
One of the very best hotels we have stayed at , very friendly staff great rooms very clean good wifi and a 4K tv what more could I want, very close to shopping centres we enjoyed our stay here recommended
Went to see N.H.L. game was close to Canadian Center, Nov.1st, 2015. Hotel is dirty and empty, my room had over 2000 ants everywhere ! Gross ! I drank a pop in morning full of ants...1000. all are left over food wrappers where full of ants too. I asked for refund they said no because I booked though hotels dot com, and they didn't know what i PAID SO THEY SAID? SO NEVER BOOK FROM HOTELS DOT COM AS THEY BILL YOU WHEN YOU BOOK ,NO REFUNDS..They didn't care about the ants . This hotel is old and needs repairs bad , stains on carpets all over, rooms had a old smell to them as well. I stay at lot of places this one is a don't do ! Spent $10. more you will thank yourself. Restaurant was good and food too ! Pool is very small.
We held a 2-day training here and the staff was amazing, great service, great food and also a really comfortable bed! The training room was well-ventilated and just the right temperature, good natural light. This is a hotel that knows exceptional customer service gets noticed, and it shows in every interaction with all their staff.
Had to work at the Queesnway Carlton hospital, so I needed something close by, I chose this hotel for its proximity. I was not all that impressed, Bed was very comfy, but this Hotel is in a dire need of a face lift, the front desk area is small, the carpets are old, and I almost face planted going into the restaurant, the floor is un even in spots ! Back to the Bed... very comfy and fluffy pillows, but the mattress pad must be made of plastic, as I was stuck to it all night, couldnt turn down the heat in the room either. Staff was all very friendly, but overall... this place needs some TLC !
Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The few minor issues (TV & WiFi temporarily in and out, tub slow to drain, room temperature regulation difficulties) did not overshadow overall experience. Incredibly comfortable beds. Clean rooms. Lovily atmosphere in lobby. Great to wake up and walk down to the conference.
I have visited this hotel twice and both times have been good. The décor is a little dated but the hotel is generally very clean. The log fire in the reception is a nice touch! The bar is very good for food and drink. Friendly staff always up for a chat (or to explain Ice Hockey). The staff are very helpful! One morning there was a strike with the taxi companies. Denise was very helpful in trying to get us a taxi. The manager of the hotel offered to take us to our local destination after about an hour of trying the call a cab. Thank you!
the hotel is well situated as for shopping and restaurants but not insolated enought from the noise of the road, until late night it is noisie, and early morning. I will recommand but if you want to sleep late forger it. The plumbing in the shower should be change also.
I really liked the room and the staff was helpful when my son was injured (not onsite) Unfortunately we were on the second floor and an elevator would have helped us a lot. The bed was really comfortable !!
for the money the hotel was fine. bed was comfortable. room was dated, but clean. no complaints, no raves. parking was adequate. check-in was fine. didn't use the pool or hot tub, so no comment there.
No issues with the hotel. We were there with our hockey team. Clean, front desk staff was nice and friendly. Rooms were clean. Beds and pillows were comfortable. TV and Wifi worked well. The pool was a great size. Clean, enough chairs to sit on. The hot tub was also good and clean. The on site restaurant was good. We ate lunch there. Disappointed there wasn't a continental breakfast. Almost all hotels have that. It makes mornings rushing off to a hockey tournament much easier. The rooms do have a mini fridge which is a bonus.
There's really not much to say about this small BW hotel. It's an older, 2 level hotel that from the outside looks almost rundown,or old at least. A small, well appointed, lobby has a full menu restaurant attached to it. There is a nice indoor pool & gym. What was a pleasant surprise was how nice our room was! It had to have been recently remodeled as it was spotless and sparkling. The bathroom was very clean. There's nothing luxurious about this place but it was fairly convenient to Canadian Tire Arena and it was clean. Great bed too. For $76 USD it was well worth it.
Our room was very comfortable, the pool area was great. The only problem was that there was no breakfast included and we had to order up from the restaurant. The breakfast was cold, the coffee was not good and we were very disappointed. The only plus with the breakfast was that the restaurant had gluten free bread for toast.
The hotel wasn't overly busy, so we waited for nothing. The room was clean, the bed was so comfy! The on site restaurant had great service and terrific food. The hotel was close to every thing we needed, shopping, a drug store, a Tim Horton's and fuel. It was only 15 minutes from the show venue and with a friend in the area, it was close to her place, too. I have stayed here before, and I would stay here again.
My Daughter and I stayed at the Best Western for one night during a trip to Ottawa. This hotel is conveniently located being in very closer parameter to HWY 416 and 417. We were very closed to everything. The Hotel Staff were extremely accommodating, even with our late arrival. I had booked a room with a King Room and they were willing to upgrade us to Two Queens at no cost since my Daughter was with me. When I drove up I was a little concerned, but once inside my concerns went away. The hotel and the room were both very clean. Many times when you walk into a hotel room you can smell the mustiness in the room, but in this case there was none of that. The Bathroom was updated nicely and no mold in sight. The bed was a little too soft for my liking, but still OK.
Was very happy with this hotel overall. Staff was pleasant and kept the pool open for us longer as we checked in at 9:45 and the pool closed at 10. The beds were extremely comfy and the shower was huge and very clean. Would definitely come back. Hotel was very easy to find and right off the highway which was good for us because we had a long drive from Niagara Falls. They even had Halloween candy for kids as they came in. Great atmosphere.
Hockey parents allowing kids to run rampant through the hotel, in the pool while they got drunk in the pool, the halls and very loud in the rooms. Under-staffed to handle the multiple situations even after the manager was alerted on their weekend off.
The Best Western Kanata provides a wonderful and quiet night sleep in clean and comfortable beds. Conveniently located near the 416 and 417 for easy access to downtown Ottawa. The area has numerous restaurants, gas stations and shopping areas. The indoor pool is large, clean and warm!
I would highly recommend this hotel. From the happy, friendly staff to the room decor and pleasant park like property. Price was fair and the rooms decorated in a modern, fresh style. We had two dogs traveling with us and the facilities were perfect for them. Great value for money
My husband and I stayed here for two days to attend the Senators Fan Fest. We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable and we had no noise issues what so ever. The pool and the hot tub was great to come back to and well maintained. I would recommend this hotel. The location is great for the Canadian Tire center.
I would highly recommend this hotel for those who have a business to attend, the hotel is nice and clean. The amenities were excellent. I took a quick pick on meeting rooms they are not bad in terms of sizes. i like the idea of their sliding door with extra fiber glass fences. I am also impress with the other younger gentelman when we arrive from work who open the back door for us near the parking lot, it feels nice if staff are very helpful like him ( i felt bad i didn't get his name) but he is very nice:)
September 18 - 20, 2015 We were at the Best Western to celebrate my mothers 88th birthday. My mother is in a wheelchair and the hotel does not have an elevator to access the second floor suites which is where our room was located. The front desk staff Pierre and Denise accommodated us by arranging the use of a meeting room on the first floor , which allowed my mother an opportunity to spend time with her two great grandchildren, as you can imagine she was thrilled. We enjoyed a wonderful luncheon in the hotel restaurant for a party of 14, the food and service were both great. At the luncheon Denise presented my mother with a bouquet of roses. I would highly recommend this hotel. Staff is incredible, rooms are clean and spacious, pool and hot tub are wonderful . D. Borden
The room was set up very nicely. The hot tub in the room could have been a little bigger though. 2 smaller adults could have fit in there nicely but 2 bigger adults would have a difficult time being comfortable in there. The presentation of towels on the hot tub was a nice arrangement. The staff was very caring and offered assistance with my luggage as soon as I walked through the door. The king size bed was extremely comfortable and was very spacious. The only “complaint” I would have is that the pillows were super soft. As soon as you put your head on them, they squished down to just about nothing. I would have been okay with one pillow like that and a more firm pillow underneath. The room was super clean and everything looked very professional when I entered the room. I liked the idea of the refrigerator hidden in the stand under the TV, although the door was a little strange as they had to be fully opened to open the fridge door without smashing your fingers. Overall, I really enjoyed this room and will be staying at this hotel during any future visit I have in Ottawa.
