Best Western Pioneer

We had to stop driving during a blizzard (went from good road conditions to sketchy to a total whiteout) and we were so grateful a room was available. It was warm, the Internet and TV were stable, and staff was wonderful. The room was really spacious and well laid out, the price was reasonable, and the breakfast was amazing.

The rooms were very clean, the grounds were well maintained, and the Staff was exceptional. The breakfast was very good, much, much better than we thought it would be. And again the staff was friendly. knowledgeable and exceptional.

When I looked at the hotel from the outside it was not quite to my expectation , but boy was I pleasantly surprised Staff was amazing , room was small but very clean , breakfast was delicious , have recommended it to people already that we have seen on our travels

Wonderfully friendly staff. Beds were made daily; new towels were provided daily. Food was home cooked, not the powdered eggs and rubber omelets you get in some chains. The service was amazing. The beds are the best; not too hard or soft.

Stopped here for one night whilst on a 2000 mile road trip. Pool was being pumped out so not available. Room dingy, noisy, fly screen broken. Door frame looked as though a crowbar had been used on it. No food options. If you have enough fuel, drive on without stopping.

Great place to stop for the night, very friendly staff, clean rooms and an awesome breakfast included. Not your typical breakfast, omelettes prepared outside by a chuck wagon with assorted fillings. May dine outside at the patio or inside. Other breakfast items inside.

This is a great place with great staff and an exceptional breakfast! We were there with motorcycles during Sturgis Bike week. Over night it rained, the next morning, the staff had placed two clean, dry towels on each bike .,.. above and beyond!

Very friendly staff. Eager to help. Clean, clean rooms! Comfortable beds. We have stayed here twice. Both times we received the best service. We were quite surprised to find this gem of a hotel in this unfortunate town.

We stayed at this hotel years ago and decided to Do not again. It was even better this time as the unit has had many upgrades, offers a hot and cold breakfast, and even orepares omelets outdoors. Our room was comfortable and quiet. Only down sides were poor room lighting (they should switch to LED daylight bulbs) and although not the hotel's fault too few dining choices with none offering a wide variety.

Great owners and friendly staff. Tom has the best breakfast around! Omelet bar in his courtyard cant be beat! Always make it a point to stay at that hotel when we are in the area. Very well run and clean place to stay!

The Pioneer is a must stay on US 85! The old west motif is great. Come hungry for breakfast when staying, because they have one of the best breakfasts (the Chuck Wagon Omelettes and blueberry waffles) of any BW.

It was a nice place to stay and the breakfast was delicious. It met all our needs. I would stay there again. There could have been an ice machine in a more convenient place. The town was small and only two gas stations. Only one stayed open late.

This was an ideal stop for me along I20. Rooms were very comfortable and Very Clean. Carrie the desk person was super. Very friendly and very professional. Brenda the housekeeper did a fantastic job. Would definitely stop there again. Very bike friendly.

The Best Western Pioneer in Lusk, Wyoming, was a wonderful place to stay on our way to our destination. It was clean and comfortable. The host was welcoming and hospitable, and the breakfast in the morning was wonderful. We'll stay here again and will recommend it to anyone passing through.

Great little motel. Our room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was the best we had during our 7 day road trip. Bacon, crisp bacon, was a welcome sight after so much microwaved sausage. And fixings for a breakfast burrito. With fresh ingredients. Oh my. Yummy.

The room was new, clean, and quiet, and the beds were very comfortable. The new breakfast room is wonderful and the breakfast itself was as delicious as ever. We especially liked the green chile sauce - yum.

Rerouted here because of full hotel. Get off the interstate for a change! This is a remodeled 1950s motel with full Best Western furniture, linens, toiletries, minifridge, etc. The breakfast is every bit as good as the other comments: full breakfast inside, made to order omelettes at a 19th century chuckwagon outside (no extra charge). Outside breakfast is open to all, not just motel guests. Lusk is a classic Western town, fun to walk around in a bit after breakfast.

We originally had one room for myself my boyfriend and my mom and her boyfriend. We decided that we needed another room and I called earlier in the day and they were able to give us the extra room which we very much appreciate it. Rooms were fine except ours had a screen that was needing repair in the door. It was very cute in the center of the complex there was a bunch of stone furniture and it really reminded me of a route 66 hotel. I was able to get some of the cost of my original room refunded since there were only two people in that room and not for so I really do appreciate that they were able to do that for me.

Extremely clean, very quiet, staff was beyond nice and helpful. Not one person didn't greet us or not smile at us. Breakfast was one of the best ones I have ever had at any hotel! Rooms were extremely cute gave it the country theme it really needed for a Wyoming hotel.

First thing, breakfast was absolutely amazing! Best breakfast I've had at a hotel/motel. Made-to-order omelets by the owner out of the back of a covered wagon! Breakfast spread inside was just as amazing! Hotel was clean, staff super friendly, and it was quiet. Would definitely stay again!

Park by front-door style, all on ground floor – so convenient! Room had everything we needed. Excellent wifi and TV. Double sinks with huge counter space. Breakfast offered a make-to-order omelet bar in the outdoor patio area, as well as indoor standard fare with plenty of choices. I would definitely stay here again.

We've stayed here before and are always a bit irritated at a fairly high nightly rate. Still, in a small town, there's not much else, and so we opt for Pioneer Village. Our rooms (129 and 131) ever so slightly dated (perhaps assigned to us as we had two dogs), but still comfortable. New showers and comfortable beds helped. All staff members very friendly. The breakfast omelet station on the patio is a real highlight. Both chefs were friendly and efficient. The inside breakfast selections also quite fine. Good walking neighborhood for pets. And we received the senior / veteran discount. Highly recommend.

Tom makes your custom omelet outside by the real covered wagons every morning with a huge selection of other choices inside. The staff is ready to make your stay perfect. Parking is perfect, the shaded courtyard is a pleasant place to relax.

This is a small motel in a small Wyoming town. The service and breakfast were great. The rooms are clean and spacious. The breakfast was better than breakfast I have had at chain motels. The owner will personally cook you an omelet, and it was declicious. The owners and workers were very helpful. I recommend this place if you are passing through Lusk on your way to the Black Hills, Yellowstone, Colorado, etc.

While traveling from Denver to South DaKota, we chose Lusk as our stopping point. After driving for a couple of hours without seeing pretty much anything other than land and cattle (beautiful), we were thrilled to arrive in Lusk. Hospitality is what comes to my mind most. The other reviews have covered most everything correctly. The peace you will feel in this town is unbelievable. Don't missing sitting in the courtyard watching the sunset and the cars pass by while enjoying one of the best pizzas ever eaten from downtown. It's a memory and a feeling that I don't think I will ever forget. Breakfast and beds were both awesome. I've stayed at some of the most expensive fanciest hotels across this country, but this motel's feeling of being safe and a peaceful feeling tops them all. Wonderful people and an awesome town. Our country would probably be a better place if there were more Lusk, Wyomings. Great job staff!! Keep up the good work.

25 state road trip on my Harley, The best overnight stay. Clean, Upgraded property! Staff and Owner on site and exceeded expectations. You have to get an omelette personally made by Tom. (the owner). Total trip over 7851 miles. I will return.

this hotel is consistently great . the rooms are spacious and always clean. the breakfast is always plenty , many things to choose from and always hot .the salt water pool is sparkling . lore at the front desk is always welcoming .the chuck wagon omelet station is so wyoming.

My husband and I were traveling from Sturgis to Denver, on motorcycles and were caught in a horrible storm. We were soaked and freezing. Best Western allowed us to check in well before the normal check-in time, and took care to place us near laundry to dry clothes and get warm. They were very accomidating and understanding. Thank you!

We stayed there when visiting Lusk. The bed was wonderful. Usually the second night of staying I hurt when I wake up. Not this time! I didn't want to get up! But I did and went to breakfast at the breakfast bar. The food was great, hot and plentiful with fantastic variety. The manager Lore' was there to make sure that you were happy.

We were delighted to find this gem in a small town partway to our destination from Denver to Rapid City. It was a quiet and well maintained property with an excellent hot breakfast. The town is quaint and we were given great advice on a pizza place in town.

When we pulled up to the BW Pioneer - I was a wee bit apprehensive - because I hadn't stayed at a motor lodge in years - but that concern was quickly negated. The room was spotless and comfortable - there had been many recent updates. On an 8 day road trip, staying at a different hotel each night (Fairfield Inns, IHG, Hampton Inns, etc.)- This hotel had the best and fluffiest towels (It's the little things!). But the biggest reason for the 5 stars is the people working there! As you've read in other reviews- I have never seen happier people who wanted to make me happy as well ! We actually got a tour of the breakfast area - and it also was the best breakfast of our trip ( careful with the pork green chile sauce on your eggs- that's a bit spicy). I will have to say, without a doubt - that Lusk, WY wins the hopitality game!!

We were headed to Colorado and got stuck at the Pioneer for two days in a blizzard, Tom and the staff went above and beyond to make sure myself and my elderly mother were safe and comfortable, even going down the street to bring us food. Great place and great people!

The staff, Tara & LaRe' are great at check in. But Nicosia is great fixing breakfast. Fresh eggs, hash browns, biscuits & gravy, green chili, sausage, toast, waffles, oatmeal, cold cereal, fruit, & coffee.

Stayed here a few daya ago and it was great. Room was fantastic, needed a walk in shower and she got me one. Very comfy room and very quiet. Breakfast was astounding. The lady showed me around and explained where every was and checked on me a few times. I have never seen a layout like they had. Not an item was missing. I'd stay here again just for the breakfast and it is included in room rate. DO NOT MISS

The hotel is very dated by some of the room pictures indicating this. But all in all, the room was really clean (had an air freshener smell) and neat. Very small room, but functional. Was called away due to family emergency and had to cut trip 1 day short. Refund would have been nice, but not expected.

Staff was very friendly and helpful . Traveled with our pet. Room was clean and you would never know they use there were previous pets there. Stayed in this hotel two times already and would definitely stay there again.

We stayed 2 nights due to a early early winter storm and they dug our car out and others of 2 ft. of snow. Could not of had better service anywhere. The rooms were large and better than expected. The staff was exceptional and due to the storm they were overloaded with additional tasks.

The room was clean. We came to town very late and they only had one little room left so we took it. It was small but that was clean. We went to the breakfast before we left and was very impressed with it. The workers were very nice.

Stayed at the Pioneer for one night during a drive from Rapid City/Black Hills down to Denver as Lusk is a good stopping point. As you drive up, the property appears very well kept, clean and clean. This extends to the common areas and rooms, which all appear to be freshly renovated. The motel offers interior and exterior rooms, which is a nice choice. The included fresh, full breakfast was GREAT, and puts much larger hotels in big cities to shame! Would definitely stay again.

The room was clean. Wide variety of food offered for breakfast which was very good. Loved the green chile. The office and kitchen staff were welcoming, friendly, and courteous. A couple of the outlets in the room did not work.

This BW property while a bit dated makes up for it in charm, hospitality, and clean rooms. The breakfast is the best offered by any hotel property we have stayed in. Just superb. Well done. Great little golf course close by. Good pizza place close by too. A very enjoyable stay.

It was a great stop.on our way west--comfortable bed, great shower and a breakfast layout that puts most diners to shame!! Nice outdoor spot for relaxing too! Cable and internet work well--a first rate property. They directed us to a great spot for supper too--we would visit here again for sure----even go good directions for a twilight drive to see some wildlife

We stopped here on our way home from a week long road trip based on reviews we had read. We were not disappointed. This place is reminiscent of the old drive up motor lodges, but instead of being rundown, it is clean, comfortable and absolutely a true gem. The owners CARE. They provide a first class comfortable bed, a first class clean room and shower, and a FIRST CLASS breakfast. Omelets made to order with real eggs out of a REAL chuck wagon. Other delicious choices inside. Lore' and Ed are terrific and care about the place they manage. Thank you both for bringing back the true meaning of hospitality. We will definitely stop here every time we drive from MN back to CO.

This motel is dated but the rooms were clean and the staff was very accommodating and pleasant. The breakfast is outstanding with amazing choices and an outdoor eating area with chuck wagon omelets made to order--really enjoyable.

We stumbled on this motel while planning a trip through rural Wyoming. We were stunned to find such a remarkable place. Like the other reviewers, we found the rooms up to date, clean, and well appointed. And we loved the breakfast! The staff exemplified the best of western hospitality. What we didn't expect is the feeling of healthy nostalgia which surrounded our stay. When I was a child, my family traveled frequently, part of our education. We stayed in motor hotels all over the country. The best ones felt exactly like the Best Western Pioneer. Staying there reminded me of how travel used to be, at least for our family. Hard to put into words. If you remember motor hotels of the 1950's, you will love this place, especially since it is both nostalgic and up to date.

We chose this hotel as a base to visit Mount Rushmore, about two hours away. We were completely surprised by this court motel in a town of about 1500 people. Our check-in was flawless, the room immaculately clean, the beds were comfortable, and the room well appointed. The shower was a real shower, not one of the water saver showers where you can barely rinse your hair. Breakfast was awesome - real scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, sausage or bacon, biscuits and gravy, waffles, toast, bagels, and on and on. A newspaper clipping in the breakfast room noted that J. D Powers awarded them the best breakfast in America. They were right.

This clean and charming motel is obviously well-cared for by the owners. The covered wagon theme is reinforced with pioneer antiques in the public areas. The center courtyard offers a pleasant place to relax and meet other guests. What makes this motel truly memorable is the chuck wagon breakfast with made-to-order omelettes served up from a covered wagon in the courtyard. The hosts are amiable, pleasant and accommodating. If we ever past through Lusk again, we'll definitely stay here.

Driving from mt Rushmore to Denver there are few and far between options HOWEVER BW-Pioneer was a wonderful place to stay regardless. Good sized rooms, great staff, great breakfast...no brainer to stay here

Loved our stay! Rooms were nice and clean, the pool, courtyard and check in area, inviting atmosphere! The staff was awesome and breakfast was the best I've experienced at a hotel/motel. Will definitely be staying here again if back in the area and will be recommending to others.

We stayed here completely by accident, and what a pleasant surprise it was. The rooms are nothing special but very clean. The wagon side served omelets and extensive breakfast was awesome. If we are ever passing through this way again I would for sure stay here.

A gem in the middle of nowhere. A quaint little town with all the amenities you need, a few closed on Sundays. The motel and grounds very well maintained. Older structure, but the bathroom had been upgraded very nicely, one of the better on our trip,

This adorable little town has several small hotel/motels to choose from. But this establishment was SO clean and updated on the inside of the room, I was pleasantly surprised! Real tile in the shower and granite counter tops! The room was spotless! The towels appeared new and were extra soft! There were SEVERAL tower washer and dryer units to choose from, two in EACH of the two separate laundry rooms. I was able to get a full load of lights and a full load of darks after almost a full week of road tripping. Swift and easy, just make sure you have quarters and your own detergent which I did! The FULL breakfast was more than complete! All the normal, eggs, potatoes, bacon, and MORE, bagels, English muffins, bagels, plus fixings for breakfast tortillas! I was told I could make my plate and take it to my room which was nice and relaxing to chill and eat in my own room. The gym was nice! Great to offer that! The hotel is within walking distance to most everything in town. Free parking directly in front of your room that is essentially a bungalow with direct access to outside. Makes for a lot quicker unpacking and packing your car. The location is safe and quiet. This hotel allows dogs for those of us who take pups on road trips with us! The pool was closed but the area was nice and had a lot of patio and bbq equipment to set up when the weather is warmer! Looks like it's a blast when it's all set up.

A great stay after a long cold ride on a motorcycle. Staff were friendly. Their was plenty of parking. Room was was nicely furnished. The bed was “so comfortable”! Breakfast was good and the coffee was great. If you are in Lusk, WY, this is a great spot to stay! Travel safe…

Great hotel to stay at overnight. Staff super friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean. Beds were incredibly comfortable. The only drawback, is tractor trailers downshifting during the night. Rooms close to towns main road.

We were trapped here during the Blizzard of the Century. The people at this place are amazing! They went out of their way to make sure everyone had food and had a safe exit plan. Who knew Wyoming shut down all their highways during a blizzard? The breakfast at this hotel is rated #1 across the entire chain and I can see why. We felt like part of the family by the time we were able to leave.

Got stuck here the first time due to a blizzard. Re-arranged my return trip to stay again! The property is lovely, beds comfortable, shower hot. The breakfast is outstanding, and the owner Tom has put together an amazing team, who will treat you like family.

The cabins were recently remodeled, very clean and comfortable! The breakfast was amazing! We had real plates, the staff cleared our plates and was so helpful! The staff very friendly! Would definitely stay again and recommend for others.

Traveled to this area to visit my elderly parents. I brought my daughter and her son, my grandson, who is 2. I was fully prepared to have to wipe things with Lysol wipes, as my grandson is at an age where he licks things, sticks them in his mouth- gross! Our room was so clean! We had no worries what so ever. He even played on the floor with his big blocks. The breakfast was SO GOOD! Cannot wait to stay here again!

The staff made sure we were comfortable when we got stuck there in a blizzard last week. They brought us normal stuff like extra towels and sheets for the bed but also had food delivered to us in the blizzard which was so thoughtful!

Very good value for the accommodations very clean and updated room staff was very friendly and helpful there was a lot of items to choose from in the breakfast bar and the food was excellent and take precautions with covid-19

All of the staff at this hotel were terrific and the accommodations were very comfortable and clean. We have stayed here twice in the last 3 months and both times were excellent. We travel alot and stay at many hotels. This Best Western in Lusk is by far one of the best. Very clean, attractive, friendly staff, and Wonderful Breakfast! You are missing out if you don't stay here when traveling and staying in Lusk. The BEST hotel in Lusk. We know,we've tried them all!!!

We got in late on Oct 1st 2020, thankfully they held our room. Front desk staff were helpful, and kind. Room was nice enough...nothing fancy, but it was clean. Since our stay was during Covid we did wipe everything down with Clorox wipes.. I was pleasantly surprised that the wipe was as clean at the end of the task as it was in the beginning. Bed was comfy, and I slept well. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Lusk, WY.

I have stayed at this Best Western several times doing my route to North and South Dakota. Lore' as always very pleasant when she is at the check-in desk. They offer a full breakfast, but a mask is required for entry into the breakfast area during this time. The rooms are always up to par and very welcoming. I would strongly recommend staying here if you are passing through Lusk Wyoming

I can't say enough good things about the Best Western Pioneer Motel. The room was spotless, the staff was very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was good and, best of all, I felt completely comfortable with the steps taken to sanitize and socially distance. Great experience!

My family spent a week in Spearfish, SD on vacation. When it was time to go home, my husband & I decided to take a detour. We had never been to North Dakota, Montana or Wyoming so we headed north. Long story short, we ended up in Lusk, Wyoming (4 states in about 9 hours). We stayed at the Best Western Pioneer and were so surprised. It wasn't fancy at all but super clean and had the best, & most fun, breakfast ever. According to what we can figure out, it's rated the best Best Western breakfast in the world!!!!!

This is not a regular hotel. It's a good ol' fashioned motel that you drive up to the door. (Exterior entry with a screen door) That being said the staff is super friendly and Very accommodating. There is an actual hot breakfast as usual and it's serve yourself. There is even an outside omelet station served chuck wagon style. The rooms have what you need including a mini fridge and microwave. They do have a mildew smell in them and are a bit outdated. The a/c unit was a bit loud. The clientele seems to be a lot of bikers passing through. Ther also is an outdoor pool that looked nice. We had a decent stay overall.

This place really does have the best breakfast I've ever had at a motel lots of options and all delicious. Staff was very friendly and the decor was so unique with stone tables and chairs. I really loved it.

I travel for work from Wyoming to Illinois and Lusk Best Western Pioneer breakfast is hands down the best I've had. The staff is outstanding and is very quick with check in's. The internet is fast and easy to connect to. Highly recommended.

Best Western in Lusk, WY was excellent. Staff was very nice. The made to order Chuck Wagon omlettes were awesome coupled with the tortilla & other extras inside the breakfast buffet. Take note of the "Flintstone" chairs in the courtyard. The Smiths

The owners of this inn proved to us that a REAL breakfast (not just sugary snacks in a bag) is indeed possible for guests. I would have given this inn a 4-star rating, but it was so charming, and the owners went the extra mile to make us happy and comfortable that I decided on a 5. The breakfast room was available for coffee and other food items. The owners served breakfast, a delicious omelette and coffee, in chuckwagon style with metal plates and coffee mugs. They even brought the food to the table for you. Lusk is a very small town of just over a thousand people. Therefore, most everything you see is on the Main Street of town. The desk clerk with long-blond hair (sorry I don't have her name) was extremely friendly and helpful. She made a recommendation for where we could eat. The room has attractive old western photos on the wall. The inn seems to be well maintained. The only negative note I have about the guest room is that the bathroom window is cracked in two places. There is DirectTV in the room, with HBO and Showtime. Guests will like the decor of the outside of the hotel, with its charming western chairs and wagon. There may be enough chairs outside that guests can enjoy eating their breakfast outside. The inn only has one floor and you can drive your car right up to your door. That's a great feature. I'd definitely stay there again when in the area.

This hotel was amazing to stay at. As we are on a cross country adventure from Washington State all the way to Buffalo NY. As it was getting late we needed a place to stop and decided to stop here. We got our rooms and settled down for the night. The rooms were great and the beds very comfortable. In the morning we had an amazing breakfast! Omelette fresh to your liking of ingredients you had chosen. The husband and wife team cooking out there were awesome and it made it feel so homey. I was also offered orange juice and there was also a coffee station out there too. It was honestly the best breakfast experience I have had at a hotel. Not only was there omelettes outside but there was waffles, biscuits and gravy, fruit, oatmeal and such inside! Highly recommend this hotel to stay at!

So clean, so friendly, so comfy! This is a FIND! Do not miss out. The staff, the hotel itself and the authenticity of the area. We had a wonderful experience. Food great. And Tom's wife and son at the omelette wagon, oh my gosh! Cannot say enough good things about this place. We stayed one night on our way to Deadwood, but I wanted to stay longer!

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel , room was clean and comfortable, but we were surprise by the warn delicious breakfast especially the omelettes :) , everything was very clean in the breakfast room. We enjoy it. I might not coming back because we live far away but We recommend this hotel, if you are traveling and want to meet this great people and stay at this nice spot.

I don't like Motels, but Best Western Pioneer has great staff, very nice rooms and a killer breakfast. The only downside was I having to walk between room and lobby/breakfast area/gym in the very cold and windy Wyoming air. The breakfast if the best complementary one I've had in years. The eggs and sausage was fresh and I ate mine at 8:30AM after everyone else was done. You can make your own Barrito. I loved the biscets in their own baggy so they were fresh for the gravy. The morning and even staff were very nice and asked if I was happy with the room and meal.

I don't normally write hotel reviews but the best western and its staff is exceptional and deserves a positive review. I have been staying 4-6 nights a week for a month for work and I have been impressed every day. Great clean rooms and the best breakfast I've ever had at a hotel. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are in the area for any reason.

We had a warm, clean room to stay in when the weather was wicked and we were stranded. The front desk staff greeted us professionally and kindly. She even looked to see if we had awards for a discount. The morning staff was very nice to show us around the breakfast selection and make sure we had everything we needed.

I almost stayed at the hotel across the street but the man at the front desk wanted to treat me as a suspect because I have a diabetic alert service dog. Rather than get mad I just drove across the street to this place and am glad I did!!! For starters, the folks who own the property are dare I say, local Americans who love their hotel and are good people. The room was really nice and staff at the front were great, too! I'd wholeheartedly reccomend this hotel!

I called about 4 hours before checking in, to let them know I'd be very late. They knew who I was when I arrived, and greeted me warmly. The hotel has been around a long time, but it has been updated very well. I enjoyed the bed and the shower. The breakfast had a ton of delicious options. I'll stay again if I'm in the area.

After traveling long distance, I stopped in for the night and was surprised at how well kept the BW Pioneer is as well as staff treated guests. Breakfast was good. Service friendly. Yes I will stay there again

I have stayed at the Best Western Pioneer for six years in a row and I keep coming back because of their location, the friendly and helpful staff, the amenities the hotel offers - and their superb breakfasts! I know it is a clique but they treat you like family .

This is an older hotel that has been updated and well maintained. It was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and efficient. They claim to have an exceptional breakfast and we agreed- more choices and better quality than most.

Room was very clean and well maintained. We really enjoyed the amazing breakfast! There was hot and cold choices, something for everyone! Customer service was excellent. Highly recommend this hotel to others!

Amazingly clean and spacious. Nice rooms, all ground floor. Obviously well-kept. Way above normal attention to conditions and amenities. Air conditioning works and works right. Instead of understaffed (you know, the typical bare excuse for a supposedly hot food breakfast...) the proprietor Tom is on the spot supervising at least 3 people with the breakfast food and keeping the eating areawiped up and top shape. Clean, very fully provisioned, tasty, so clearly a cut above any other hotel freebe breakfast you WILL notice. Rooms are comfy, modern, well kept. Quiet.Nice wi-fi and good big desk space. Tom is into restored antique cars nad you will see nice ones there.

Our single-queen room would have been fine for $65-$75. But not for $152!! Appeared to be the last room in town; no others within three hours' drive. Gouge much? Small, dark, but at least the chairs are okay. No place to park our car-plus-small-trailer off-street. Won't be back, to this place or Lusk (if we can help it).

We stopped on our way to Custer State Park, SD. The staff was great and accomodating. The room was clean. The hot breakfast was fresh and amazing. The outside patio area was such a bonus. We wish we had time to visit the Stage Coach Muesem.

On a roadtrip and needed a room for the night. Very pleasantly surprised to find this level of accommodation in Lusk, WY Definitely recommend it if you find yourself between Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone

We rocked into Lusk fairly late on motorbikes but it wasn't a problem with management. Our rooms were extremely well appointed with everything we needed and the pool after a long day on the bike was a very welcome addition. Breakfast was served at the chuckwagon and if eggs weren't your thing then there was a great selection inside the dining room Staff were great, nothing was a problem and accommodated us with recommendations for dinner - being Labour Day unfortunately they were limited but we got out all the same.

Great little oasis in the desert. The owner takes fantastic care of the place and the guests. Very clean, very nice and lots of nice little touches like free breakfast cooked outside (summer obviously) and ice cold waters for you. DO NOT stay at the covered wagon across the highway. The owner of that place has complained about this hotel because of all the amenities and the covered wagon apparently doesn't want to raise their game.

We were in transit from Jackson, WY to Keystone, SD with our pet dog and decided that Lusk was a good stopping point for the day. We chose the Best Western Pioneer because it is a pet friendly hotel. What a great find. The staff at check in was absolutely great making us and our dog feel right at home. The room was large, spotlessly clean with very comfortable bed and pillows. But I have to say the best part of our stay was being served up omelets and coffee from the chuck wagon in the hotel's courtyard. To be sure there were many more delicious breakfast selections, I sampled many of them, on the buffet inside, but eating at Two Spoon Toms chuck wagon and bantering with the cook and his assistant was just a lot of fun.

The manager checked us in and she was great. Hotel property was well kept and very nice. The room was CLEAN and comfortable. My kids enjoyed the pool This is on the list of top 5 best hotels I've stayed in, and I'd definitely stay again

The rooms were clean and equipped with the usual coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator and WlFi. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The hotel provides pet friendly rooms and a dog walking area. The breakfast was vast.

It may be a small town hotel,but this was the most enjoyable stay and best ever breakfast we have ever experienced. We would happily come back any time. Super friendly and courteous staff. Fabulous omelettes, breakfast burritos, eggs, hash, and all the continental options. Oh my gosh, try the green chili sauce...

Wonderful hospitality and outstanding breakfast. Management clearly loves their jobs. Rooms are very clean but take you back to the 1950's. Drawback that the beds are not the best. Parking spaces are over-sized, comes in handy since 50% of vehicles are large pick-up trucks. Very few other options within 75 miles in all directions. Make reservations from May to September or you may be out of luck. There are gas grills if you want to cook your own dinner. The road directly in front has heavy vehicle and truck traffic, avoid rooms 113 to 117.

We planned to stay here for one night on a 3 week road trip from Denver to Yellowstone and the Black Hills but unfortunately never got the chance. On arrival at 5.40pm we found that our room had been given to someone else because my credit card had been declined. When I made the booking back in November, the confirmation email from Best Western said that payment would be taken immediately. I did not check that they had done this as stated. Unfortunately BW Pioneer did not take payment and the expiry date on the card was May 2019 so when the owner tried to take payment on the day of arrival before we got there it was rejected. This was the only time on our holiday that this happened, everybody else who hadnt taken payment upon booking happily took the new updated card when we arrived but I can appreciate why this hotel saw fit to do this if fraudulent bookings are an issue here. After this we made sure we arrived at subsequent hotels at lunchtime just in case this was going to be a problem, but it never was - I guess all hotels have different policies on this. The owner was not particularly sympathetic to the plight of a couple of Brits, but she did phone and confirm availability at a motel across the road which was appreciated as at that stage we had no idea where we would be staying for the night. I may get grief for leaving this review (I have endeavoured to be polite and have posted a 3* not a 1* which my extremely upset wife wanted me to!) but think others should be warned of the possibility of this happening here. Taking the payment when the email said would have solved this. Or me checking that BW had done what they said they would. I'm sure this is a really good motel, it sounds like it from the other reviews upon which I based my initial confirmed booking.

Pros: Clean, good updates, well-maintained, helpful and friendly staff, many breakfast choices, heated outdoor pool, complimentary bikes available for guest use, quaint. Cons: Beware of shower water getting very hot without warning; traffic noise from highway may bother some people; no bedside tabletop outlets for phone charging. (There are outlets, just not the convenient, integrated ones found at many motels.)

We popped into the Pioneer after a long day of driving - no reservation. The staff was SO friendly and accommodating. They gave us a room in the back, away from the main road, accommodated the dog for a minimal fee and checked us in quickly. There were so many extras in this small town motel! There is a workout room, cruiser bikes to use for scooting around town, a pool, a hot breakfast with REAL eggs, healthy oatmeal, high quality fruits and veggies, and an outdoor omelet station where you select the ingredients! There is also a dog walk area, and little things, like a bottle opener mounted in the room! The room was huge and CLEAN, with upgrades like towels that are just a bit thicker than normal, nice toiletry products, a larger room refrigerator, high quality sheets, tons of space to move within the room, new bathroom fixtures, plenty of outlets...I could go on and on! We travel frequently through the midwest to see family, and somehow we missed this gem over the years. That will not happen again!

The rooms were comfortable but the greatest aspect of this hotel is the freshly-made breakfast. Served under the trees in the central courtyard, you pick your own ingredients for an omelette, made at a historic chuckwagon.

Came across on our travels thru to SD Badlands. Excellent on all levels. Nice size rooms, clean and well maintained property, friendly helpful staff, good breakfast available. We stayed furthest from the main road. Quiet no noise noticed from traffic or neighboring rooms. Would highly recommend!

We pulled in, road tired, to a warm welcome and a lovely room. Very clean and good beds. Had a yummy dinner at a nearby pub. Local residents super friendly. Breakfast on the patio...superb! Hope we get a chance to visit again!

When the owners come out to fix you made to order omelets in the courtyard, you know they take pride in the hotels service. Everything was superb and we highly recommend it! well worth going out of the way

Kind of a mediocre experience. There are some maintenance issues such as the fact that the a/c didn't work and the pool was out of service. Breakfast was very nice and the attendant was super friendly. There is some road noise so you may want to request a room away from the road.

Great little motel, great welcome, clean rooms. We stayed on our way through from Rapid City/Rushmore to Cheyenne. It seems to be a pass through for lots of people. The breakfast was excellent and served on REAL PLATES with REAL CUTLERY. Your breakfast host is the friendliest woman we have ever met !

We stayed at the Best Western Pioneer on the way to the Badlands in South Dakota. The desk clerk when we checked in, Lore, was very accommodating. Our room was very clean. The breakfast the next morning was great. Carrie made sure we knew where everything was and continually checked on us.

It was clean and sufficient for our family reunion. Probably the best option in town. The place across the street is second best. The breakfast was decent, typical for a BW. The staff was very friendly. Everything is 1 story so you can pull your luggage up to your room and nobody walks around on top of you.

My wife and I take a trip south every fall and go through Lusk so we can stay at the Pioneer. The first time we stayed the motel was being remodeled and we had a little trouble with the room. The owner of the motel checked it out and put us in a different room. He was very helpful and friendly. The service and the breakfast are so good we make sure this is where we stay every time.

I've always liked Best Westerns for their clean rooms, nice atmosphere, and decent breakfast. Lusk, Wyoming is a small pass thru town so I get that they can't support the type of Best Western a larger city can. A bit overpriced for what you get.

When we go to the Black Hills we usually stop overnight at this motel. Friendly folks, breakfast, reasonable prices, and close to restaurants [for Lusk that is]. Lots of parking, clean rooms, and easy to find as you enter Lusk.

My family and I are driving cross-country from California to Virginia and have been making stops at Best Western locations throughout the US because they are pet friendly. This particular location in Lusk is especially welcoming and accommodating! I highly recommend stopping here for a rest if you are looking for a nice place to stay in Wyoming.

We stayed here recently . The gentleman at the front desk was less than friendly. There are many options to stay in Lusk, he could have showed some hospitality. On the other hand, the breakfast in the morning was much much better than most hotels. Would stay again, but hopefully the man at the front desk is not working that day.

The variety of the breakfast options was amazing. The food I had was great. However, all services provided by this hotel were superb. Everything worked the first time. Team members were fantastic and very pleasant.

Fabulous location in a hidden jewel of a town. Pull right up to your room and enjoy a good rest after a hard day. Grab a calzone at the Pizza parlor in town, then get a fresh shower and relax for the night in this comfy room.

We stopped off in Lusk on our drive south to Denver. Not expecting too much, we were very surprised at the unbelievable service we received. A great hotel, we booked a king room and it was very clean and tidy.

We only stayed one night but were warmly welcomed with a smile at reception. Went to room 102, a king size suite. Room was spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable and we slept well. Very quiet room which was a surprise as we were close to the road. Breakfast was great. When we checked in my husband asked for crispy bacon for breakfast. The receptionist said she would leave a note for the chef. Wow next morning there was the bacon, and when we asked the guy in the kitchen about the bacon, he said sure I received a note about it. Amazing. Fitness room was good but I could see no mention of this on the website. This should be changed as this is a deciding factor for us when booking. I happened to see a mention of it by somebody on Trip Advisor. We had a great stay here, the staff are fantastic and are a credit to the organisation. Greg and Lynne Brisbane, Australia

Place was loud. Screen was off bathroom window had to go outside and put it back on in order to open window. People smoking right out side doors, loud, did not calm down until after 10:30 PM. Only place to park was outside of room, very congested. Place was fairly clean. Breakfast cooked was horrible. Poor customer service. Had to leave for an emergency on the second day. Would not refund money as I called 2 minutes past there cut off time. Stay at your our risk.

Stopped for the night on our way to visit family in North Dakota over Thanksgiving weekend. Room was as expected from a Best Western property. It was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. The breakfast is very good, both in its variety and quality. Next time we travel through Lusk, we will be staying again.

Stayed one night heading south. Staff was very nice on check in. Hotel was nice, clean and updated. Breakfast was great with very helpful staff. Wide selection oatmeal bar, burrito bar, scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy, cereal, danish, waffle and pancakes. If you can find something here it's your fault. Family loved it and would stop again next time through.

Stayed for one night. Assigned to the suite at the rear of the property. Very quiet and far from the main street. Everything seemed to have been newly re-modeled. Beds were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was included and it offered a wide selection of items from fresh scrambled eggs to waffles to cereals to yogurt. The receptionist was efficient and checked me in quickly. Another employee took the time the following day to explain the many selections offered at the breakfast area. Great location and easy to find.

I have passed bu this motel many times, knew the family of the owners, just never needed an evening's stay...but this night we took advantage of our time. And it was a great evening! Everything was perfect and now we cant wait to go back in the summertime to experience one of Tom's specialty omelets in the courtyard! Thanks to Lori and Tom for their fabulous hospitality!!

Drove up and wondered what we had booked. What we booked as one of the best lodging experiences we've had. The room was neat, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was unbelievably nice and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The breakfast was excellent and once again the staff was great and kept all the options filled and hot. Definitely 5 star service at this small town motel. I wouldn't hesitate to book a room here again. Great value and more important incredible people! A GREAT experience!

First of all, those beds and pillows! I haven't slept so comfortably in a long time, probably since I was in my own bed (4 months and counting). The best is so comfortable, firm but soft at the same time. And I seriously wanted to take one of the pillows with me. The room was very clean and there was a little welcome note on one of the beds. I actually really liked that the AC unit wasn't right by the beds and it wasn't noisy. The towels where actually very soft and huge, like real bath towels you would have in your own home. The shampoo, conditioner, and soap were surprisingly very good on my hair and skin, I give the argan oil the credit. Lastly, let me tell you about the breakfast. First of all, when I walked into the breakfast area. I was kind of lost, meaning I didn't know where to start really. Thankfully, one of the ladies asked if I would like a “breakfast tour” and I gladly said yes. They had everything you needed to make your own breakfast burrito, chocolate and regular waffles, fruit, yogurt, coffee, juice, bread, muffins, bagels, potatoes, oats, and a few others that I just skipped over.

Located in downtown Lusk accessible to everything in town. Rooms are size of older Best Western hotels. However these have been remodeled and are in very good condition along with Wifi. Staff is friendly and ready to assist along with answering questions. Breakfast is in a newer dining room and very well prepared, one of the best we have ever seen. Staff is ready to show you the dining room and explain the food items. A lot of attention and money has been put into making this the premier hotel in town. Highly recommended.

There is a reason that this motel is the highest rated hotel/motel in Lusk, Wyoming. It is the staff. One look at the property you see that they care. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great.

My wife and I stayed here on the way back from a trip to Yellowstone. This is one of the best properties we stayed at during our two week trip. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was amazing! They actually gave tours of the breakfast bar to guests. Breakfast offerings were real scrambled eggs, waffles, pancakes, fresh fruit plus all the normal hot and cold typical breakfast items. This place had real bowls, plates and silverware, no foam plates or plastic tableware. They actually had a hose, buckets, soap and rags to wash off your vehicle. The property has a nice outside seating area.

Very pleased with the services offered here. Town very small, but hotel was excellent. Breakfast outstanding. Staff very friendly in answering questions. Location near downtown made it easy walking after dinner. Staff made sure one was introduced to available breakfast items in the morning with a tour of the room. Omelets to order were cooked outside by chuck wagon. Room nice and comfortable. Ice machine was centrally located in a room with access from outside which provided less noise to guests.

What a surprise to find a perfect motel in a small town. Were on the road for 6 days, on our last day road into Lusk Wy. and the Best Western Pioneer...Room was large, carpet even felt clean...Bathroom had double sinks..nice lighting, beds were comfortable, but the breakfast was a huge surprise...Clean and fresh everything and food not normally found in the motels. Other places have waffles, etc but here they even cook omelets to order and outside in the courtyard. Hearty congratulations to the owners who treat you like family...

This is such a cute hotel for the little town of Lusk. We first pulled up at the America's Best Value Inn across the street because it looked so cute from the outside with the covered wagon style, but there was no one at the front desk to help us and I ended up being very happy that this happened because it brought us across the street to the Best Western. My boyfriend checked us in and when he came back to the car he said that they make made-to-order omelettes in the covered wagon outside of the hotel in the morning. We got into our room and it was nothing fancy but it was clean, which is most important. In the morning we got up and came outside and there was a friendly couple making omelettes out of this cute covered wagon. You dish up whatever vegetables you want and the lady takes your order and the man cooks up the omelettes. There is also a little coffee bar setup too! It was chilly outside so the lady said we could go inside to the breakfast bar and she would bring our omelettes in. When we got inside there is a whole breakfast bar with everything you could imagine on it. We made some toast and waited for our omelettes. The chipper lady brought them in after a while and they were delicious omelettes. Such a nice breakfast and definitely something you won't find many places. This is a seasonal thing and we were here on labor day weekend just for reference. I recommend this hotel just for the charm factor alone but also for the clean rooms.

This is our 16th hotel on our tour of the United Sates and it is by far the best we have stayed in to date. The staff are fantastic and friendly, the breakfast is all you could possibly need to start your day and our room was clean and tidy and the fly screen door is great. The omlette breakfast on Labour Day was stonking!!!

What a great motel. Economical, clean, and great omelet' in the court yard. Vana White in the eating area - friendly to the max!!! Rooms very clean and comfortable. I hear patrons talking that they plan their route to stop here.

We only spent one night, but love the quaintness of this hotel. It is so nice to park in front of your door and just carry stuff in. The bed was awesome, as was the breakfast. It was one of the nicest and cleanest we have seen with many options. You could even order an omelet outside and eat there. They had free bikes to use, but after trying those for 5 minutes we returned them. That was one of the reasons we stayed there, but were disappointed in the quality and not being able to ride around town for a quick workout. We thought staying in this small town might be sketchy, but were very pleased and will return.

We needed a wheelchair accessible room. We has had a great room with everything we needed. The people were friendly and accommodating. Couldn't have asked for more. Great motel. Great staff. The service was efficient and courteous.

Front desk very friendly when we checked in. It was a nice room and very clean. Did not like that the bed was immediately when you walked in the door. Nice little touches from the cleaners. Breakfast was very good and the hostess was very nice. My husband loved the omelettes outside off the chuck wagon. The outside heated pool was freezing and needs some sprucing up and cleaning. Probably my biggest complaint was the cost. The motel across the street is almost $100 cheaper per night but they were sold out.

I enjoyed my visit with Tom & his crew. A very unique place with an interesting history & the best breakfast omelet in the whole country. that's all I have to say but theyre gonna make me type out a bunch more words.

On arrival they had cold drinks for us. They had made an area for us to was our motorcycle. They recommend a great restaurant that was one of our best meals on this trip. They had an omelette station to make fresh and brought them in to us. Like the title it's one of the Best Best Western I have stayed at.

This may be a small town but this Hotel is the BEST! Tom, Valerie and Lore' and all the staff were amazing (as always). If we are travelling anywhere close to Lusk we will make the detour and stay here. Bike wash, an amazing courtyard, pool and a BBQ with a grocery store down the road. They offered us plates, cutlery and even spices so we could enjoy a home cooked meal. Breakfast is included and really good but the best part is the made to order Chuckwagon Omelets that they offer in the summer! Thank you again for a wonderful stay.

All of the friendliness and customer service you would expect from a local family-owned hotel with all of the convenient amenities and updates provided by a larger brand like Best Western. Made-to-order omelets off the chuckwagon and served outdoors were a great touch.

My mom and I were on our way to Yellowstone and stopped in here for the night. The rooms were great, very quiet and comfy mattresses. 2 separate rooms for privacy or snoring. The breakfast was fantastic! A full buffet with eggs, bacon, etc and if you want to treat yourself to a homemade omelet, those are outside. Claire greeted us and helped us any way she could. I wish we could have had a breakfast like this while we were in Yellowstone. It's a cute little place and a comfy stay!

While traveling from Denver to the Black Hills of South Dakota we planned to stop here on our first night of our road trip. This was a great place to stop after a very long day! The people at the check in desk are some of the friendliest people we met during our entire vacation. The rooms are very spacious and very clean and were a very good value compared to hotels that we stayed at in other parts of Wyoming. Breakfast was excellent and one of the owners came over to talk to my children while we were eating and gave us maps and some advice on what to see and do in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We thoroughly enjoyed the one night we stayed at this hotel. Highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a hotel in this part of Wyoming. People at this hotel could not have been any nicer or more accommodating! The staff at this hotel truly know how to make you feel welcome and at home.

Driving from Denver to Rapid City, a great half way point to stay. Rooms are clean. Staff very helpful in recommending local places to eat lunch and dinner as well as points of interest down the road. They serve the best chuck wagon breakfast. Well worth making this a stop.

The Best Western Pioneer is the best motel we have stayed at in 45 plus years of travel. Great room, great people, great breakfast. Wish we could take the mattress home! This was our third visit there.

Hidden gem along the highway almost in the middle of our travels. Noticed on the way to the Black Hills and stopped on our return.Great idea! Comfortable beds, great staff and exception outdoors breakfast option available. Highly recommend this stop.

We stayed only one night here, passing through Lusk on our way to Denver. Clean rooms, free water bottles, and a breakfast that tastes like home-cooking. They even gave us a room with three beds. Would highly recommend this for any family.

The owners cooked made to order omelets in the courtyard for breakfast. They made everyone feel at home. It was a great start to the day. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable. There was just a hint of tobacco smell in the room but not bad. We are on a motorcycle trip. They provided covered parking for motorcycles. For those driving cars or trucks they marked out space between car parking spaces in front of the rooms so there is plenty of room to open doors and unload your vehicle. This is a place that I'll try to book again if we're ever riding back through Lusk.

So clean, friendly staff and modern rooms. Such a nice surprise. Highly recommend to anyone. Outside pool is fun for kids. Nice place!! Breakfast room and workout room are very nice as well. Courtyard fun and relaxing.

40 room hotel with outstanding staff!! Clean, friendly, accommodating, everything you need. Best hotel staff I have interacted with in years. Best breakfast at a 3 star hotel. Stay here, you will be happy.

We have lived around the world, stayed in dozens of hotels, and our one night at the Lusk BW Pioneer will stand as one of our favorite evenings ever. Traveling with an eight year old grandson and a deaf spouse presents some challenges. The folks at BW Pioneer, especially Loré, made our stay easy and very comfortable. The room was spotless, and large. The outdoor breakfast omelette station with a stagecoach theme was so much fun, and so delicious. During checkin, Loré noticed my "stress level" and comforted and calmed me (it was late, and we were a late check in). This definitely could/should be a destination hotel.

I really don't know why this is a 2-star, it is great. It has the exterior of a western 1950s wagon wheel decor that is adorable! Inside, like any high quality Best Western. Quiet. Fantastic breakfast and an Omelet Bar at the Chuck Wagon out side. Totally cool! Very nice staff.

A friendly receptionist wellcomed us. The hotelroom has a lot of space. Bathroom is ok and clean. Bed is comfortable. Furniture is Western style and has a bit outdated charm. Parking in front of the room is perfect. I& you want dinner, go downtown to for a perfect pizza (after traffic light on your left hand side. Don't expect anything from downtown sleepy Lusk. For fun visit the wagon museum.

Hitting a deer in the middle of the night, in the middle of Wyoming, was not on the trip agenda, but Tom and his staff at Best Western Pioneer helped us make lemonade out of lemons! The facility was clean, plenty of room, great outdoor pool and relaxing area to lounge, and an amazing breakfast served up by Lore and Jordan! Kristina added wonderful conversation and made us feel like family. Thank you ALL for giving us a great stay, although it was not what we had planned. When the rental agency delivered a new vehicle for us to continue our journey, my boys did not want to leave. Thank you Tom - your hospitality is unmatched in any of my travels across the globe!

This hotel had perfect accommodations for a family. Suite with 4 beds fit us perfect. Rooms were clean and breakfast was wonderful! Full breakfast available inside and made-to-order omelettes in the courtyard. Beautiful courtyard to visit outside. Highly recommend.

Great,clean and quiet hotel. Our stop always when heading to Sturgis. Great parking, friendly staff and comfy beds. Close to walk to dinner and cocktails. RV and trailer parking too. Great breakfast and water available too.

On our way to Yellowstone, we stayed in Lusk. After reviewing Trip Advisor, we decided to stay at Best Western Pioneer. Great choice. Very clean, quiet, handicapped accessible accommodations. The next morning's breakfast was a real treat. Chuck wagons set out in the courtyard, making custom omelettes. As it was raining, we went inside to the best breakfast buffet we have ever seen. Our omelettes were brought in for us. The employees are so very nice and accommodating. If we are ever in this part of Wyoming again, this will be a definite “restay”.

This was a random stop on our trip from So. California to Mt. Rushmore, but it turned out to be one of our highlights. The town was so cute, hotel staff so friendly, people we met in town so nice, we would consider moving here (if we ever want to leave So. Cal). Their pet area was really nice and sticker free. Their breakfast was AMAZING! For a simple roadside hotel, they offered just about every breakfast option you could imagine, and everything we tried was very good. Who knew?! Lusk Wyoming should be on everyone's bucket list of US places to visit. ;-)

Wonderful breakfast and very friendly staff. Room felt nice and inviting. The outside was nicely manicured and had a great feeling. There was three staff members during breakfast willing to answer questions. Food was delicious!

This hotel looks very old fashioned but the rooms are good, clean and large. The beds were very comfortable so we slept well. Breakfast is very good, lots of choice . The staff are all very friendly, very considerate and helpful.

The best place to stay in Lusk! The rooms have been updated and are very nice. The outdoor patio furniture is amazing! The screen doors to the rooms are a little old, but nice to have the option for fresh air. I would stay here again if i'm ever in Lusk.

The breakfast is second to none. This Best Western (BW) has the top breakfast of 2,000 BW locations. Two flavors of waffles, a pancake maker, a burrito bar, water bottles in the refrigerator, scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, sausages, and all the fruit, drinks, breads, bagels, hot and cold cereals, and pastries found at nice breakfasts. Jordan did a first-rate job in setting up the breakfast. There are regular plates, silverware, and glasses. This BW also has a fitness room. Our spacious room had a dual-sink vanity.

My husband and I have stayed at the BW Pioneer in Lusk, Wyoming twice and both time we experienced the same great service. The rooms are clean, comfortable and decorated nicely. Internet works great and the breakfast is wonderful. So nice to see regular plates and silverware used rather than plastic. The breakfast lady was extremely helpful and friendly, too. A really nice establishment. You can tell the owners care.

We had to stop in Lusk because of a snowstorm and I'm glad we chose this motel. We were able to stay in a brand new room with a very comfy bed and pillows. The cooked oatmeal with many delicious toppings for breakfast was a welcome and healthy start to the day.

I came to town for the first time for business. When I first saw this motel I thought omg what I am I doing here. It didn't look like a typical BW that I had been to before. Then when I checked in the staff was remarkably nice and helpful. My room was obviously remodeled and was comfy and modern. Refrig in room. Flat screen TV. Hot clean shower. Then the free breakfast was great including make your own breakfast burritos. Also nice liquor store/ lounge across the street. Thumbs up for the owner and staff of this BW place. I would highly recommend staying here if coming or passing through town.

Like my last dog rescue Round Trip from Rapid City to Cheyenne, I found that it was best to spend the night in Lusk rather than attempt to drive through the Black Hills in darkness on my return. I was pleasantly greeted by a fellow I took to be Tom Wassenburger (hope I spelled that right), the owner, who checked me in and assigned a room. He agreed with me that animals on the roads at night just north and east of Lusk are a hazard, as he had almost had an unpleasant experience with an elk once! My room was comfortable, clean, and HVAC was modern and functional. Nice to have the option to leave the HVAC fan run continuously. Also great to have a functional exhaust in bathroom to get humid air out during a shower, something I have found sorely lacking in the majority of hotels where I have stayed. The shower curtain was clean and not "sour" smelling, like I have encountered all-too-often elsewhere. Next morning, as on my last visit in Sept 2015, I was given a personal tour of the breakfast bar by Loré, the General Manager. The lobby and breakfast areas have been remodeled since my last stay, incorporating a nice contemporary flair with a lot more room. It was a great breakfast, including orange & apple juice, nice hot coffee, the usual foods, biscuits/gravy, waffles, milk, yogurt, diced potatoes, sausage and real eggs/cheese. Loré went out of her way to help make my breakfast "special" as there were no others eating when I stopped in. She also checked me out, and all the other staff I met there were universally friendly and helpful. Lusk is still a nice little town. for you travelers from CO Sprs, FOCO, or Denver en route to the Black Hills or Badlands, BW Pioneer in Lusk is a nice RON.

We had been on a trip to the Black Hills for about a week. We were tired when we got to Lusk so checked into this hotel. The best one we stayed in on the whole trip. The room was large, bathroom updated and the breakfast was far more than any continental breakfast we had ever had. Would recommend to anyone.

Customer service was knowledgeable, friendly and happy to help. I'm glad I stopped here for the night. Rooms were comfortable, every thing in its own place and spacious. The hotel was remodeling the breakfast room while I stayed, but breakfast was still great.

Best stay during 2 week vacation with husband and 2 dogs pheasant hunting in Dakotas and Rushmore. Super clean, quiet, comfortable and the breakfast was amazing. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Will visit again when traveling through Lusk.

From Don, Sevierville TN. In October of 2017 a group of friends and my grandson was staying at the Best Western in Lusk. It was a trip I had planned for a long time. My grandson had recently graduated from high school and was looking forward to his first western big game hunt. We initially had rooms booked, but when we got there we were given a four bedroom house for a better rate than the rooms. Three days into our stay my truck broke down. It had to be hauled 60 miles away to the nearest Ford dealership to get fixed. When Tom, the owner found out he went above and beyond kindness to make sure we would have transportation and be able to finish our hunting trip. Tom loaned us his own vehicle after the other members of our group had to leave. My grandson had filled both of his tags but mine were still unfilled. But because we had a vehicle that allowed us the ability to continue hunting, I was able to fill both of my tags. When my truck was finally repaired, Tom even drove us the 60 miles, with all of our gear and meat, to get my truck! You will never find a more friendly place to stay. It was my third time to stay at the Lusk Best Western and will definitely not be my last! All the staff was very friendly and accommodating during our stay. If you ever get the chance, book a room at the Lusk Best Western and experience western hospitality!

Friendly staff, nice room, near dark skies for astronomy, gave us a good dinner recommendation. Very good breakfast. Room was very decent and the bed was fine. Motel lobby is being renovated and will be even better. Lusk, which is in the middle of a great dark sky location, is a convenient location for this part of Wyoming.

In the big city, there are numerous choices for a place to stay. In Lusk, there is only one. With no completion, the staff would not have to be friendly, courteous, and helpful. However, we found the desk clerk to be exceptionally courteous. At breakfast, the manager was friendly and treated us as if we were long time friends.

Chose the Best Western Pioneer in Lusk, WY due to special rate offer on Expedia - it was good over night stopping point for me driving from SLC, Utah to Rapid City, SD. Although I thought the rate of $86 seemed a bit high at first, I was very pleasantly surprised from check in through the top-notch breakfast being served the next morning. Room was very nicely decorated & furnished, and probably the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in. The property is in process of being remodeled, and is sure to be even finer once that is completed! Definitely plan to stay there again in the summer time when I can partake of the pool and out door chuckwagon BBQ!

We always stay here when we head up to North Dakota to go see our grandkids. Always guaranteed a great stay. The rooms are nice and large. Very comfortable beds. Lots of variety for breakfast. We won't even consider a different place when we travel through Lusk.

The Lusk Pioneer hotel is probably the friendliest hotel you will ever stay at with management and staff that will go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. From giving extensive recommendations and directions on local sights to researching road conditions for us these people are very helpful. As you may gather from the title their breakfasts are excellent and you will enjoy the authentic artifacts and decor from the pioneer family of the owner.

As it was getting dark as we headed east to South Dakota we decided to find a place in Lusk. Saw the Best Western Pioneer and decided to give it a try. What a surprise! Clean and quiet room and the most friendly staff we encountered on our three week driving trip. They gave us driving route suggestions to Mount Rushmore and back to Devil's Tower that were great. The breakfast was homemade that even consisted of real oatmeal. If your travels find you in Lusk this is a great place to stay.

Very friendly, welcoming property during a 1400 mile drive. We were thrilled to stay in this gem, right off the highway. Property is immaculate, owner very friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was fresh and delicious.

Very spacious rooms, excellent customer service and even though the lobby was under renovation it was still very clean and welcoming. The bed was a little soft for our personal taste, but we slept well.

This is it if you stay at hotels and motels you will love this wonderful place. The staff members are great the rooms are very clean and the food good. In the summer they have a chuck wagon breakfast out side it the greatest adventure to have. Put Lusk WY on your travel plans, great little town and Best Western Motel is the place to be.

This is a wonderful quiet motel where you park your car outside the room. When we came in they had arrangement of a artificial flower with two mints. The room we were in was small and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful and there was a public computer. The breakfast buffet was the best I ever had with real eggs and real oatmeal.

This place has the best customer service I have seen at a hotel. You would never know how wonderful this hotel is until you stayed there. Rooms were great, staff was awesome, free bottled water and the breakfast was to die for!

We stayed here 3 nights and it was generally quiet. However, on one night a group of guests were out in the lawn area until late apparently drinking and being rowdy. We should have called management to tell them to disperse. Another night a very loud truck parked next to our unit and it woke us up at 5 AM. Ask for a quiet room. We did, but were disappointed with these incidents. Other than that, the room was clean and comfortable and they served an excellent breakfast. But I think the rates are on the high end for being in Lusk and an older facility. Management was also helpful in answering questions about the area which is why I give it 4 stars.

Loved the hotel! My family took the bikes for a ride which was great because the was my son's favorite part of the hotel! The omelet bar was wonderful and seeing it came from the chuckwagon out front made us remember we were in a small town (which was a good thing). The only complaint was that our screen door screen was broken but if that if my only problem with the hotel, I will gladly take that! Thank you for an enjoyable experience!

Very pleasant surprise in small town in Wyoming. The owner was great plus clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Hotel is in the process of being updated so there were workers there but everything was clean and neat for breakfast the next morning. The owner sat with his customers and went over vacation activities in South Dakota. Great value in a small town.

This hotel is so well cared for, you can tell the staff takes great pride in the place. They were all so nice and caring while we were there. Everything was extremely clean throughout the hotel. Breakfast was wonderful, lots of delicious options including some veggies fresh from the garden! More than we ever expected! We would highly recommend this BW and will definitely be back when we're driving through the area.

If you have spent the day touring the Black Hills and are driving back to Denver, Lusk is a good place to stay. There are a couple of restruants in town and the Best Western is located right on the main street. The hotel has been around a long time. The cabins are original I believe. The room was a little cramped for 4 but the location and staff made up for any issues. The Chuck Wagon breakfast was a neat treat but the regular breakfast was also excellent. The staff was very friendly.

We were traveling late at night and needed a hotel, I searched and found a few in Lusk, WY. I attempted to book on my smartphone, but was struggling. I called the hotel directly and the lady was no nice and friendly. Upon pulling in, the lot was full of cars, we were notified we had the last room for the night. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the room! The extra touch of the handwritten note and flower on one bed was so nice. The greatest option of this hotel, was the AMAZING breakfast they have! Items included: sausage gravy & biscuits, build your own burritos (scrambled eggs, green peppers, salsa, cheese, etc.), oatmeal with all the fixings, waffles, toast, pastries, cereal, juice, coffee, bottles water (LOVED THIS) and the wonderful omelet station outside. Tom was so kind in the morning to inform me of some low key tourist attractions on our way into Colorado. Tom, keep up your good work with your amazing hotel and staff!

If you are looking for a 5 Start new big city hotel this is not it. If however you are looking for one of the best and nicest places you will stay in an out of the way location this is it. The hotel has been kept up and is in great shape, the staff is over the top friendly. We stayed here labor day weekend and for breakfast hey had an omelet bar! Wow what a fantastic breakfast, I think the best I have had for a free hotel breakfast. Every staff person we had contact with was very friendly and helpful. HIGHLY recommend this place if you need a hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay of one night while passing through. Greeted by the Manager who was very helpful with sights to see and do on our journey. Room was spacious and had an excellent shower. We enjoyed the outdoor pool and met some fellow travelers who had some interesting stories. The breakfast was amazing as delicious omelettes were served from chuck wagons on the patio by friendly staff. Such a unique experience! Everything was well done and and attention to all details was appreciated.

This was my last overnight of my trip, and I had just chosen it as the place to break the journey from Mt Rushmore to Denver Airport. Good grief, I am glad that fate brought me here - this was one of the best places I have ever stayed in, and a 5 star motel experience. The team were friendly and helpful in a very genuine way, and the attention to detail was beyond almost anywhere I'd ever stayed in. I had been in a few motels this trip, and they all "included breakfast" which amounted to sugary cereal dispensed from a hopper, varying types of pancakes and occasional hot troughs of scrambled eggs or meat, almost always with disposable plates and utensils, but this place actually cooked a custom omelette for everyone at a chuck wagon in the yard with cowboy music on the radio - a super omelette by the way, even if you don't want to hear Johnny Cash. Parking was right up to the door, they offered to lend me a bike to go to the post office, people who weren't dealing with me directly knew my name, Lore the manager sorted out some carwash tokens for me, it was a tremendous lesson in customer service.

Hotel with a heart. We got into an unexpected car accident and the staff went way out of their way to help us, even driving us to the ER. You will be well taken care of. Also checked in on us to see that we had a meal. Cant say enough nice things about this hotel.

This is the type of motel I dream of when on the road. Its all one level with plenty of parking. The staff go's out of their way to insure your stay is a good one. Top notch all the way. Other Best Westerns should take lessens from these fine folks.

The BW Pioneer in Lusk get 5 stars for all the important stuff: clean, quiet, secure, 24-hour desk, friendly, good wifi & cable TV, nice bed and in-room amenities. But the morning made-to-order omelette breakfast in the tree-covered, grassy, and fully-equipped motel courtyard surpasses any other travel experience I've ever had. Plus, great BBQ a block up the street at the Smokehouse 307 drive-in. Great combo. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for the eclipse and were very impressed by this motel. The rooms were large and modern, beds were comfortable, shower was strong, staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the outdoor seating area was charming. Loaner bicycles and a swimming pool were available. In addition to the standard breakfast buffet, the motel served very good made-to-order omelets. As a special for the eclipse, they served a free bbq dinner with beer and wine. We hadn't expected such a nice place in such a tiny town.

For a small-town motel, this place is terrific. Clean, well-equipped rooms - terrific staff (attentive, smiling, hustling) - excellent breakfast. We felt well-cared-for. PS - I'm a fussy traveler, and I would stop here again.

If you are looking for a great experience... This is the place! I have never felt so comfortable at a hotel as I did here. We had omelets from a western wagon per order with many other hot items inside. The staff was welcoming and explained the layout of the town. We also enjoyed the warm pool that was nonchlorine.

This was one of the best Best Westerns that we have stayed at. Only problem was that we lost air conditioning in the middle of the night. The wonderful omelet specially made for you was an awesome perk. So tired of the usual tasteless scrambled eggs and sausage. Very friendly staff.

I would keep everything as it is I enjoyed myself staying there I showed some of the pictures to my family and they ask me were it was at I also told them that Mount Rushmore is only 1 hour away. You can see when each state became union and what year.

Check in was easy and the entire staff were super friendly and helpful! We had the most comfortable bed of our trip. I think I had the best sleep I've ever had away from home. The made to order omelets were fantastic and the ambience of the patio with the chuck wagons was great. The rooms are somewhat dated but so very well cared for and exceptionally clean. The towels are so soft and large we thought we were in heaven. We will always make a point to stay here on our trips through Eastern Wyoming! If you find yourself debating on staying in Newcastle or Lusk pick the Best Western Pioneer in Lusk it will be so worth it. We were pleasantly surprised to have a hand towel on our bike to dry it since it had rained overnight. They sure go the extra mile!!

We found BWP at the last minute and couldn't be more impressed. Friendly staff and clean, modern rooms. The omelette station in the morning and outdoor patio can't be beat. Also, totally appreciated the free bike station. My daughter and I took a tandem bike ride around town before continuing our journey. Thank you BWP!

Our stay at the Best Western Pioneer in Lusk was the highlight of our trip. Definitely the best breakfast we had, with a free full, delicious and varied, buffet plus chef-prepared omelettes made outside at a chuck wagon. Friendly, helpful staff and old-style park-at-your-door rooms with comfortable beds and all the amenities. Easy walk to restaurants and the fairgrounds. We were lucky enough to be there for the amazing Legend of Rawhide pageant, with lots of activities and community spirit. The number of horses involved was remarkable, as well as the most outstanding riders and wagon team handlers we've ever seen. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening!

This hotel is so charming the staff were all very helpful the1880 coverd wagon in front serves a great omelette along with many other breakfast items served inside. The rooms were very clean with modern decor with very comfortable beds and had everything we needed. This was a very long road trip for us and we stayed at other hotels and this was the best

At breakfast, eating our omelettes cooked outdoors on the Conestoga wagon, my son said "I couldn't understand how a motel could have a perfect five star score, but now I understand." I write a lot of reviews but the superlatives will not suffice on this one. The manager is friendly and competent but not intrusive. She helped me plan our tour of the Black Hills area. The motel style, park in front of your room, works great for getting stuff from the car. The room, while not brand new, was spotlessly clean with comfortable beds. We rode the provided bikes to dinner and loved the clean town and friendly folks of Lusk. Even apart from the made to order omelettes, the rest of the breakfast puts the Holiday Inn Express and Fairfield to shame. My 17 year old son has repeatedly pestered me - "Dad, have you given Pioneer a 5 star review yet?". Our whole family was impressed and you will be too.

This gem is in the least populated county in the least populated state in the country. The town of Lusk doesn't have a ton going for it, but the folks at this hotel take pride in their establishment. This is an older place, but one that is well maintained. It seems like the best of the bunch in the area. Definitely worth the stay if you find yourself here and in need of a room.

I read mixed reviews of this hotel online but we were just passing through and werent too picky. Its actually a really nice Best Western. Super friendly service. Room and bathroom large and very clean, big fluffy towels, very comfy bed. Pet friendly. A great cooked to order omelet (included) at the chuckwagon in the really cool courtyard in the morning. I would recommend this place. Definitely at the top of Best Westerns around the country.

So I haven't written many hotel reviews. But I won't miss this one! I was so pleasantly surprised and delighted with our stay here! It's set up like a motel, but the doors have screen doors and lace curtains in the bathroom, made me feel like I stopped by grandma's house for a stay! It was charming, clean, comfortable and so many personal touches like the folded towels with flowers & a note from the maid welcoming you and the covered wagon & outdoor tables where you can get a made to order omelet! The breakfast was simply amazing! All in all it was probably one of my favorite little places I've stayed at! They have the hospitality thing down!

We ended up staying at the Best Western Pioneer on our way to Mt. Rushmore. We were towing a trailer, but had blown a tire which had put us behind a day in travel. After a long day of trying to make up the miles, it became obvious we weren't going to make it to the campground we'd reserved, and since our camper is a hard-body pop up, we didn't want to have put it up and unload it for just a one night stay somewhere. So we started looking for hotels. The hotel had to be pet friendly because we had our dog with us. We booked online and when we arrived, saw they were undergoing renovation at the lobby entrance which elicited a few mile-weary groans. However the clerk on duty, who was also the General Manager, Lori, was very friendly and welcoming. When she found that they had no pet-friendly rooms left, she promptly upgraded us without an extra charge. She also showed us where we could park our car and trailer behind the hotel, which worked out fine. The room was comfortable with only a few minor problems. The pillows were rather lumpy on one of the beds, and because the room was divided into two separate sleeping areas, but only had one wall AC, one room was cool and the other not as much. However those things aside, the room was clean and well-supplied. The morning breakfast was really good. The staff was very pleasant and hard-working - even the owners were out front cooking made to order omelets that were excellent. A lot of work has gone into modernizing and upgrading the property, and the work continues. They are expanding their breakfast area and planning to put in a work-out room. All in all, we found this a comfortable oasis after a long day on the road with an awesome staff.

On arrival we were greeted by the owner Tom who was friendly and knowledgeable, gave us all the information we needed regarding eating places etc in town, and provided us with some cold water bottles which were much needed after a hot motorbike ride. Our room was clean, well appointed and had little added extras like a hand written welcome note and flower. The pool was refreshing and clean, with good seating. the highlight of our visit was the outdoor omelette breakfast station. Set up like a wagon train, you chose your ingredients and amount, and they made a fresh omelette for you - actually was the best omelette I've had. There is a beautiful stone based outdoor eating / socialising ares and it was great just sitting here having breakfast. There was also the usual options plus some inside in the breakfast room but the omelette was plenty for us - coffee and juice also. (and with real plates and cutlery). An added bonus of a motorbike wash station and being able to park the bike right outside our room made this the best Best Western experience we have had. Thanks to the owners and staff who made us feel welcome, and seemed happy to be there.

Arrived and asked to upgrade to two beds - only booked one bed for me and my daughter but wanted our own space for a good nights sleep. Check in was great and man behind counter gave us loads of information with asking questions - he told us all about the eating places in Lusk. Rooms were great with all the usual fridge, microwave, tv. There was even small packets of dental floss beside sink. There is a pool but high fence blocked out sun so I sat on chairs outwith the pool area to enjoy the sun. Breakfast was great - one of the staff gave us a full run- down of what was available without asking. There is a wagon outside ( where you can eat your breakfast if you choose - or you can eat inside) and they will make you an omelette to order - you select your own fillings. Brilliant. Would stay here again.

Made to order omelets by the chuck wagon and coffee in a tin cup, It doesn't get better than this. Clean hotel with great friendly service. A motorcycle wash in the back. I will go out of my way to stay at this hotel again.

We have stayed here a few times and the owners and staff are just amazing. The rooms are very spacious and the beds extremely comfortable. The lady who oversees the breakfast room is so sweet and just so caring, we love getting to see her each time we pop in. The new addition will be amazing once it's complete and we look forward to staying there again.

Fantastic breakfast. If you leave hungry it's your own fault. The made to order omelets in the courtyard from the covered wagon was great. Love the courtyard, perfect for the local. The only thing missing was a hot tub.

Whenever traveling North, I always stay at this Hotel. The rooms are very clean, beds are super comfortable and the staff is the friendliest, caring and helpful ever! I highly recommend your stay here and don't forget to sit on the "Flinstone" furniture. Always a great experience!

This hotel was perfect for us. We stayed in the room with three beds (there were 5 of us), and it was very spacious. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool, and the breakfast was outstanding. We had been camping, so I used the guest laundry - very convenient and very clean. We were within walking distance of several different options for dinner. Everyone on the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If we are ever in this part of Wyoming again, we'll go out of our way to stay here.

Such an adorable hotel with the best breakfast and amazing customer service. I have an 11 month old and am very picky about cleanliness. This place gets a 5 star from me. Parking right outside the room, fresh omlettes from a covered wagon in the morning included in your room rate. Amazing.

I've never seen such a large variety for breakfast before. There was a burrito buffet, made to order omelets, homemade biscuits and gravy, and so much more. It was like visiting grandmas house for breakfast! It couldn't have been better! The pool was great! I will definitely stay here again!

We were so happy with our experience staying at the Best Western Pioneer Motel in Lusk, WY on our way to CO that we HAD to stay there on the way back! Everyone on staff was so kind and helpful and my children loved the pool and cruiser bikes (2 tandem bikes, even)! We plan on staying there every time we go to and from CO!!

If you like to wake up in the morning and have an omelet made for you then this is the place. Great place to stop on the way to Sturgis for you bikers. Great rooms, clean, friendly service and wonderful amenities. Pull right up to your room.

You just can't stay at a nicer place. The center area is so nice for sitting for a visit or to read a book. A short walk to area restaurants or the fair grounds. Pool is wonderful. Everything is well cared for.

My group that I ride motorcycles with had been on the road for 2400 miles visiting the Grand Canyon and many places in between. Our Final resting place was Lusk, WY and The Best Western Pioneer. We road hard and extra miles, just so we could stay here and have the great breakfast they do with home made omelets in the old cowboy chuck wagons. Rooms we had were those that have been remodeled. Staff was very friendly and made the stay a great visit.

No question this is the best Best Western ever. The staff more than met out need and requests. This is my hometown and love returning to visit and our stay at the Best Western Pioneer feels like home. There is no better breakfast anywhere. Our grandsons love the pool. The outdoor eating area around the chuckwagon is fun and out of the ordinary.

We were not expecting to find such a wonderful hotel in the small town of Lusk, Wyoming. It is obvious that the owners and employees take great pride in the care and maintenance of this facility. The room was very clean and inviting. The quality of the breakfast that was offfered was the best that we have ever encountered. Everyone that we dealt with was warm and friendly. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the area.

Our stay in Lusk was a last minute change at the end of a 13 day motorcycle trip. The lady at the front desk felt like a friend. They even have supplies and a spot to wash the cycle. The pool is a saltwater pool heated to 82*. It felt amazing. The bed was great. Comfy pillows. The room was clean. Free WIFI worked well. Breakfast, wow! There really is a chuck wagon out front making omelettes! There was so much breakfast inside we didn't have omelettes. We enjoyed all of the fixings to make breakfast burritos. There were lots of other choices. The front desk offered glass plates and real silverware when pizza delivery didn't bring us any. That's what they use for breakfast, by he way! I would go to Wyoming just to stay here!

We stayed here overnight on our way to Mt. Rushmore. The room was large with lots of storage and counter space. The beds and pillows were so soft and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The staff cooked omelettes out of the back of a chuck wagon and they were the best we've every had. They also had cooked oatmeal with so many toppings to choose from. Also fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, and so much more. The staff is super friendly. We will definitely stay here again!

Older but definitely well maintained; clean, comfortable room. Very friendly staff and made to order omelets eaten outside can't be beat. In addition to the omelets the inside breakfast presentation was outstanding; the best we have ever seen at any motel. We would stay here again when in the area.

great motel don't let the renovations of the front lobby area scare you away it is a great place to stay. very friendly staff and great omelets made out by the chuck wagon in the morning. The rooms are not fancy but very nice we felt this was one of our favorite motels on our 11 day vacation.

We stopped at this hotel on our way to Mt. Rushmore. Everything was great! The room was very clean and it was large. The kids loved the pool and the breakfast was amazing! It is obvious that the owner has been spending a lot of money on improvements and the place looks amazing! It is a great example of what can be done with an older property! We stayed in the back building where four rooms shared a small entry foyer. It was very quiet despite the fact that the hotel appeared to fill up the night we were there. Breakfast was outstanding. The made-to-order omelets received big thumbs up from those in our family that had them. Note that the property is still under renovation. I understand that the breakfast area will soon be larger and that there will also be a workout room. Currently there is a guest laundry. Wifi worked fine in the room. We would not hesitate to stay here again if our travels take us through Lusk in the future!

The staff at the Pioneer are very friendly. The omelette station is unique and the kids loved it! Remodeling was being done, but that was just to make our next stay that much better. Breakfast items were great, it was very nice to have an early option to accommodate the early risers such as myself.

Great option while in town for a family reunion. The property was clean and well-maintained. We took advantage of the great breakfast (don't miss the omelette bar in the courtyard!). Wifi worked great and pool looked nice, although we did not use while we were there. Highly recommend!

It was the last night of a two week road trip across the Midwest from Utah and our best night by far! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was over the top. The room was clean and comfortable. I was traveling with my family of six plus my mom and everyone enjoyed it.

I Really in joyed the 8 days I was there ,at first I didn't think it was going to be a good stay but all the staff and owner was just great, the motel just has a good and comfortable fill. get there early and just in joy the afternoon but don't leave before having one of there custom made Omelets out in the court yard

At first I wasn't crazy about this hotel. I felt that it was expensive and the rooms were in desperate need of updates. That being said in the morning I realized they were working on renovating the hotel. Once this is done I'm sure the hotel will be beautiful. I fell in love with the chuck wagon breakfast and the friendliest staff I have ever met! I will definitely stay in this hotel again and I would recommend it.

Privately owned hotel, laundry service, fresh homemade breakfast items with multiple flavors of syrup for the waffles. They were under construction, adding on to the front, but it was easily navigated. Very nice place

This motor inn was under renovation and construction but still extremely clean and quiet. Breakfast could be had inside or out on a patio. A Chuckwagon breakfast of freshly made inlets was wonderful. Will stop again.

My girlfriend stopped for the night in Lusk on our way up to Mt Rushmore. The owners and staff were welcoming and delightful. Our room was perfectly clean and a large flat screen tv! I wish more more family owned hotels took as much pride in their business as the Best Western in Lusk.

This BW is worth a Trip to visit all in itself!! The most Friendly, Caring owners and the most Awesome Breakfast! There was a bit of improvements construction going on, but the place is Great!!! A Must Stay!!

Everyone was so friendly, especially Tom and Lore'. We stayed there on our way to S Dakota from Denver and on the way back to Denver. It had a wonderful breakfast! In the summer months they have omelettes to order on the patio! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this place to stay if you are passing thru.

What a GREAT place to stay! Tom, the owner, was friendly as can be. Comfortable room, and one of the BEST breakfasts I've had in any hotel. Our stay at the Pioneer was wonderful. The greeting we received from Tom the owner when we arrived was friendly and welcoming. Our room was spotless, well appointed and so very comfortable. The bed and pillows afforded us the best night sleep yet on our 4 week journey. We sat outside on the most amazing comfortable stone chairs and enjoyed our beverages. The finale was the breakfast. Waffles, burrito's cereal, steel cut oats, eggs with sausage, biscuits and more. If you visit Lusk, stay here, you'll love it.

We arrived at the hotel after a long day of winter travel. The room was clean and cozy- just what we needed after hours of stressful driving. We were given recommendations on where to eat and the staff was kind and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

Hotel/motel built in the 1930's but clean, comfortable beds with large rooms. Remodeling but didn't effect our stay at all. We travel far & wide & without a doubt they have the best free breakfast we have ever had. Employees went above & beyond assisting us with local travel plans. Recommend highly!!

I give BW Lusk all 9s across the board, only because if I gave them 10s, the next trip after that would have to be 11s and that option isn't available. Ask for the BW-branded quesadilla, only available in Lusk Wyoming, and if you're lucky, the owner will make it for you!

The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful, great knowledge of things to do. The room was immaculate and had everything we needed for a great night's rest before we headed into South Dakota. Breakfast choice was excellent and the food was hot and fresh. I wish we could have stayed longer!

We stayed here just one night on our way home from a trip out West. While the exterior looks a bit dated (they are in the midst of some exterior renovations, though) we were pleasantly surprised by our room's interior. It was nicely decorated with sort of western wood furniture and very clean and cozy. Nothing to complain about here. We were impressed by the quality of the breakfast which was included in the rate. Lot's of options and inclued real scrambled eggs, steel cut oatmeal, fixings for breakfast burritos, and more. The staff were warm and welcoming, especially the lady who handled breakfast. She was very friendly and made a point of talking to all her guests and even made a special egg scramble for one who wanted something different than what was offered! That's service! Probably one of the best breakfasts we've had at a hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would certainly stay here again.

On a recent trip out to Jackson Hole to go skiing, we found ourselves dodging Mule deer and Antelope as the sun was going down. We pulled into the Best Western in Lusk, and were immediately greeted by helpful staff. The room was spacious and modern, and the continental breakfast was outstanding. The general manager gave us the name of a homemade pizza place up the street, Great Pizza!

We were driving from Denver to Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills. I choose the Best Western Pioneer in Lusk, WY as an overnight stop from an online booking site knowing nothing about the property. I was very pleasantly surprised as soon as I walked into the warm, welcoming lobby. The staff had my reservation and check in went smoothly. The site erroneous booked me into a smoking room which I had not requested and the staff easily changed us into a non-smoking room after checking my preference. The room had two queen beds and was very clean, large and fashionably decorated. It was a bit chilly outside but the heat inside kept the room comfortably warm. The next morning we enjoyed one of the best complimentary breakfasts I have had in a motel. There were hot and cold choices available including breakfast burritos and bacon and eggs. It was also interesting to have breakfast among some of the owner's antiques in the lobby. From the conversations in the breakfast room among guests I could tell that many people regularly make this motel a stop on their travels. I can understand this given the graciousness of the staff and owners. Repeat customers are always a good sign to me of a quality restaurant or motel. In fact, I liked the motel so much that I became a repeat customer and stayed here 4 nights later on my way back to Fort Laramie and Denver.

Stayed here on our way from home in Boulder to the Black Hills on a mini-road-trip in early October. Accommodation was hotel rather than motel standard. Even little flowers tucked into the neatly folded washcloths. So good we stayed again on our way home. Each room was of a good size with either one king or two queens. Very comfortable beds and extra blankets provided. And good bedside reading lamps - very important. Decent quality towels and little extras in the bathroom like make-up remover pads, as well as the usual shampoo, conditioner, lotion etc. Plenty of room for two small armchairs and a table, and refrigerator and cable TV. Happy to find out that the heating/cooling system was quiet - not always the case in motels. The breakfast was outstanding. We missed the chuck-wagon breakfast because we were off-season, but were very impressed with the variety and quality of offerings. Various hot dishes - eggs, potatoes etc. that were replenished frequently, yoghurts, oatmeal, various teas, excellent coffee, bagels, waffles, and, perhaps best of all, real china and silverware. A small breakfast area, but immaculately clean, with dirty dishes removed promptly. Refrigerated water bottles available for the day, as well as fresh fruit. Perhaps the best aspect of the Pioneer was the staff, including the owner. Everyone we came across, including the janitors and maids, were friendly and helpful. We've never given a tip to a motel handyman before, but this time he was included when we left. And a surprise when leaving in the morning - found out that the three middle-aged Harley guys, had had a pretty wild night in the room next to ours - and the soundproofing was so good we heard not a sound. Don't know that I'd drive to Lusk just to stay at the Pioneer - but pretty close!

While a little overpriced, it was a great place to spend the night. The staff could not have been more outgoing or helpful. A great breakfast and our room had extras you don't find in other motels. They actually use real plates and silverware.

Staying the night at the Best Western in Lusk Wyoming. Tom checked us in, asked if we'd eaten, which we had not, and gave us great advice for places to eat. The room is very clean and very nice. They even include items for dental hygiene and flowers in the room. Internet works good. Would I stay again? Yes. Even at the $107 a night price. Least that's what i paid. It was worth it. Breakfast is included and is much more than the "Continental Breakfast".

We pulled in to this hotel after driving in From Denver. It's your typical small town with nice little restaurants and the people were very nice. The breakfast in the morning was great and the ladies that worked there were especially happy and more than willing to help or get anything. Very clean and well taken care of. NOT many hotels in Wy in this neck of the woods that are rated more than a two star....this is three to four.

We stayed here to break a long drive. Our room, whilst on the small side was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was laid out in a small area by reception and when the hotel is full would be a very tight squeeze. Best I can say about breakfast is that it was adequate. If you have the misfortune to happen across Lusk there's not much choice of accommodation.

Not many choices in this small town. Just picked one for a reservation. Was pleasantly surprised at first impression. Very clean and well kept exterior. Front desk help was friendly and also helpful in suggesting food in town for any meal. Room was clean, quiet, and had all necessities. Breakfast was equally surprising. The quality and assortment was well above what I expected. Very helpful staff there as well. Liked the screen door on the front door as well. Felt real "home" like with it shut and front door open and killing time in the room.

Friendly and accurate check in and check out. Cool property with period wagons all around. Cool pictures of early days of the property. Breakfast featured a very attentive staff, making sure nothing was missed or wanting. Much appreciated. Well done.

The staff were extremely hospitable and friendly making suggestions for restaurants, etc. The room was great. Inside looks much better than you would guess. Rooms are up to date and bed was very comfortable. Good linens. Bathroom spotless. Great water pressure. The wifi worked well also. TV of excellent quality. Breakfast was included and there is a lot of variety. Yogurt, fresh fruit, cereals, juices, Belgium Waffles maker, Eggs with sausage, all kinds f things to put on cereal or make a breakfast burrito. There is something for everyone. I liked that there is a beautiful handmade quilt hanging the breakfast room. It was made in 1913 and is title Wasserburger Ranch. It shows many Ranch brands. The property is well kept and there is an area in the center with outdoor tables and covered wagons that give the impression there are some outdoor events or cookouts. There is also a Pool although it was closed. There is a laundry which we used and it was also very clean and convenient. Having travelled from Yellowstone, and the Tetons it was nice to be able to do some laundry while we ate breakfast. The one thing that does need an update is the small refrigerator in the room. It ran non-stop and was a bit noisy. We were in Room #118. Maybe the others have been updated. Since the management seems very capable they will no doubt attend to this. It makes sense since it would be costing them more in electricity.

Stayed here on our way from Denver Airport to the Black Hills, SD. After miles of driving through beautiful vast open spaces of eastern Wyoming, it was a surprise and relief to enter the delightful Town of Lusk and find the clean and comfortable Best Western Pioneer. Many nice western touches on the grounds and in the rooms. We even took the available bicycles for a spin through town after dinner. The free breakfast buffet the next morning was the best we had on our entire 16 day trip: a perfect eggs & ham offering, and hearty make-your-own waffles. Plus apples and other fruit to go. Much more than we expected from a relatively small town in WY.

The town of Lusk, South Dakota has the most wonderful Best Western. We're giving the owner, Mr. Wasserburger, a 10. He takes obvious pride in this property. The room furnishing, toiletries, staff - Cassie - that delighted us at breakfast, what a charming lady, thank you! Our stay, although only over night, was one of the highlight of this trip, because of the staff and owner. Believe us, our trip had so many fantastic experiences, and this was one!

The breakfast was super. The outdoor service was excellent. Was clean and room was like new. Bathroom was clean and like new. The clerks both at check in and exit were very friendly and helpful with local information and dining info.

All we wanted was a place to stay on the way through, but what we got was a delightful surprise and a fun chuckwagon breakfast. The proprietor/s made us feel welcome, practically like family. I would stop here again in a heartbeat if traveling anywhere near.

After staying here for only one night it's really no surprise why they are the #1 on TA in Lusk. The room was very clean and comfortable. As far was hotel breakfasts go this one is second to NONE! I highly recommend a specially ordered omelet from the outdoor chuck wagon. The people are so nice & friendly too! If we are ever in the area we would certainly stay again.

My daughter and I chose the Best Western Pioneer for an overnight stop when traveling from Mt Rushmore to Denver as part of our "Great West Adventure 2016" trip. This was a nice "vintage style" motel that had been updated and cared for. We arrived late, and the lady checking us in whose name I didn't catch was very pleasant for 2 a.m. This was greatly appreciated. The room was nice and clean which always tops my list of criteria for offering a good review. The made-to-order omelette from the chuck wagon was a nice change-up from the typical breakfast spread served by most chain hotels. I am not expecting to return to that part of God's country, but I would definitely recommend the Best Western Pioneer for anyone who is venturing along my same path.

Another hidden jewel. It was late in the day and was looking for a motel with a disabled room. Glad we stopped here. The person behind the counter (Lore) was very friendly and helpful. This is a great motel. Was told we should have the omelette's, you pick what you like, the owner cooks them outside on the back of a chuck-wagon, well I don't like omelette's! But I will eat another on my next trip. So good This is a great place to stop and relax so don't pass it, stop and enjoy

Best Western Pioneer is a great place to stay if you're spending the night in Lusk, WY. The rooms, service and breakfast are fantastic! The people are very friendly. I stay there whenever it's not already booked.

My twin sister and I always stay at the Best Western Pioneer Motel in Lusk, WY, on our way to and from the Denver area once a year, at least. We have come to know and love the people who own and run this delightful and inviting space. They make it what it is for us, a home away from home on the road. It is the graceful affection with which everyone is treated that makes this a wonderful place to stop.

Very clean rooms, great atmosphere, updated recently, been there twice for work and not disappointed. I didn't get a chance to eat the omelette's. I counted 9 bicycles that can be ridden around town free of charge. One was even a double seat. Not locked-just grab & go. Haven't seen that in very many places. Great place if you can't make it to the Hills or wherever.

We were passing through Lusk at the end of the day and it was a convenient place to stop. The experience blew us away. Friendliest people, great breakfast - omelettes cooked outside. If you are in the area, make it a point to stop.

This is a motel style hotel which is different than the Best Westerns that we've stayed in before. Even if you're not a motel person, this place is great and you can park in front of your room door! The location is easy to find. The rooms are clean and comfortable. They even had Bath & Body Works soap/shampoo in the rooms which I thought was a nice touch. There is a well maintained gated outdoor pool in the center of the motel "U" with towels available nearby. There are poolside tables as well as others immediately outside the gate. In addition to these, there was a very large patio area with nice tables/chairs which is available and is also the site of the Chuck Wagon Omelettes for breakfast. WIFI worked well in the room. The only thing that would have made the hotel better would be having chairs available for use right outside the room door. Tom, the owner was very friendly and helpful. He checked us in and also made us the omelettes the next morning. I'm not sure when he slept since we arrived late & were up early. At check in, he gave us the option to keep the pool open later if we'd like since we had gotten in late. As a long time resident of the town, we talked to him about local history and nearby restaurants. He also provided tourist stop recommendations & maps for South Dakota as we were driving that way. We walked to the restaurant to be able to take in some of the local sights. We saw the old city jail & county clerks office, the stagecoach museum with an original (only one of two- Lusk & Washington DC!) stagecoach used on the nearby Express Service route. Last but not least, your stay would not be complete without having breakfast at the hotel. Normally the included breakfast at Best Western hotels is fine. The breakfast here is great - especially since it is included in the room rate. The actual breakfast "buffet" room is quite small, but there are a lot of options to choose from with extras despite the narrow space. When were stayed, you could get biscuits & gravy, make your own breakfast burritos, cereal, toast, oatmeal (with nuts, fruit, brown sugar etc), eggs, sausage as well as the regular coffee/juice. Of course the best part is that in addition to all of this, you can walk out to the patio for a made to order omelette. By taking an enameled plate and choosing whatever ingredients you want added to the eggs, you can feel a part of the Old West while watching your meal being made at the back of the Chuck Wagon. To add more authenticity, you can also drink your coffee out of an enameled mug. Very fun! Clearly its a draw as there was a group of people waiting for the cooking to start but the wait wasn't long at all. A must to do during your stay & a great way to start the day!

You won't be sorry you stayed at this motel. Anything you might need is promptly attended to. The custom omlets are wonderful. Great coffee and unlimited knowledge of the area is helpful too. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Tom and his staff are amazing, friendly and helpful. He has the most unique courtyard furniture and who knew that stone chairs could be so comfortable. The rooms are clean, the pool area is great and the property is well kept. Liquor store is across the street and restaurants are within walking distance. He even has a BBQ if you want to cook up your own meal, something very important to us since we are on the road a lot - nothing better than a home cooked meal. A bonus at this time of year is that he cooks up omelets to order for breakfast and the selection of omelet items are fresh and plentiful. If he has a line up at the Chuckwagon Omelet station - it is worth waiting for. Wonderful stay, we will be back next year.

We had a wonderful night's stay at Best Western Pioneer Hotel. We had a two-bedroom unit with four queen size beds. We were all very comfortable there. The bathroom and shower were really nice, too. The free breakfast the hotel offers is one of the best we've ever had, with tasty scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, yogurt, waffles, and pastries. The management and employees were all friendly and helpful. We would be happy to return for a stay at the Pioneer Hotel in Lusk.

The Best Western in Lusk is a wonderful place to stay. We rode the hotel bikes, two of the tandem, and enjoyed the delicious made to order omelets in the morning. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were attentive and caring.

The staff alone makes a stay at the Pioneer worth it. Incredible experience with every person we interacted with. Awesome breakfast, nice clean rooms. All very good experience - don't hesitate to stay here!

We stopped at this hotel on our way from Ft Laramie to Hill City, SD. The hotel was amazingly clean and had very comfortable beds. Our room had plenty of towels, fridge, microwave. The young lady at the front desk, Lore, was so kind and patient with all our questions. She told us of a great place to have delicious pizza and craft beer. Our room was serviced by Steve, and he did a great job. If you are in this area, this is a great place to stay. I almost wish we could stay another night. Can't wait for the hot breakfast and made to order omelets in the morning!

Visiting brother who lives near Lusk needed a place for one evening. We were more then pleasantly surprised with a traditional small town motel. The owners have done a great keeping décor and amenities relevant, especially enjoyed the chuck wagon breakfast.

Looks an ordinary motel in a remote town. However behind the initial appearance was an excellent experience. Staff were attentive and eager to please. The morning chuckwagon was a novel bonus and my son enjoyed the swimming area. Lusk is a stopover town but this hotel does the job and the pizzeria in the centre was excellent too

The staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and the free continental breakfast is one of the best. The outdoor pool was heated and the kids were able to swim late into the evening. Would definitely stay again if ever in Lusk.

Spent one night here. The hotel check in was friendly and fast. The staff washelpful with recommendations for dinner and driving directions. The hotel is only one level. It is easy to park right in front of your room. The rooms are large and have a small fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Breakfast was very surprising. There were excellent scrambled eggs (very creamy because of the cream cheese). There was salsa, onions, peppers, cheese, etc. to top the eggs. They had sausage patties and potatoes. You could make a waffle. There was cereal, bagels, English muffins, and toast, along with an assortment of juices, coffee and bottled water. Outside there was a really cute area with a covered chuck wagon and tables to eat at where they were making made to order omlets. It was a fabulous little breakfast. I really recommend staying here. It iswell worth the reasonable price!

I love this place! The beds are the best, they are so soft. And the showers heads are really high, no ducking, with great water pressure. But probably the best thing is the breakfast on the patio. It is great fun. I highly recommend this Motel - the owners have thought of everything.

I could go on and on about this place. Please just go experience it for yourself. From the flowers on the bed, the bath sheets not towels were soft, mineral outdoor pool, bicycles for you to see the town of lusk. The amazing breakfast inside and the omelet bar from the covered wagon outside. Nothing was missed.

We were expecting a good place having read all of the reviews and it didn't disappoint. Called in on a trip between Estes Park and Custer and it was perfect. Not much to do in the town but the room was ideal and the staff were friendly. Great breakfast selection and interesting range of people to chat to at breakfast. We did have a tornado warning while we were there which made it a bit different for a Brit but thankfully it touched down about 9 miles away. Got some good photos though.

We found this to be a really nice motel. I believe two old rooms were made into one so they were extremely spacious and very clean. Nice furnishings as well. We did upset the owner slightly by coming in at midnight. Cheyenne and the next town were both without rooms due to graduations and track meets, but they quickly recovered and made us feel welcome. The breakfast might be one of the best I've ever had at a motel. I also enjoyed the quilts displayed! We did not find this to be a bargain, but we were able to negotiate.

Clean rooms, friendly atmosphere . Breakfast in the courtyard with omelette! Awesome! Staff recommended a local pizza restaurant that was fabulous ! Check out the stone furniture in the courtyard. They have bikes to use to go into town. Western themed.

We stopped here one night when we were too tired to continue driving. Our room was modern, clean, cool (a/c) and had a very comfortable bed. The room was well insulated and very quiet. While there was a serve-yourself breakfast inside the hotel, what caught our attention was the made-to-order omelette Tom served from the 1890s chuckwagon outside in the courtyard. We chose the ingredients (various veggies, cheese) and Tom cooked it for us. It was an excellent omelette and very tasty. I recommend staying here.

We are traveling out West with no lodging reservations, so we can stop and do as we please and just take out time. It was getting pretty late on the first day of our journey when we came into Lusk and ran across the Best Western Pioneer. We norammly don't stay at motels, especially with my family. I have stayed in several motels out in Wyoming by myself and they aren't usually much to speak of. This one was different. The front desk staff, Cassie, was wonderful. She was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, even with 4 of us, we all had plenty of room to stretch out and relax after a long day of driving. The room was very quiet as well. Breakfast the next morning was great. They had a good selection inside and had made to order omelette's outside. They have a very nice sitting area outside and the weather was terrific. We are from TN and have been battling 100+ degree heat indexes and very high humidity so the 60 degree weather here was great while eating outside. If I were ever out this way again, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

My family planned to travel all night but decided to get a room because my daughter didn't feel good. It was late and I was happy we picked this Best Western in Lusk. I definitely recommend this place.

We spent the night on a two-week cross country drive and it was the best hotel experience we had the whole trip. Lore, the front desk staff (and one of the omelette chefs for the complimentary breakfast experience at the outdoor chuckwagon :) was super friendly and helpful. We (family of 4) stopped here on our way to South Dakota. Room and bathroom were clean & spacious. Like other reviewers have mentioned, breakfast was great, people were friendly and I would definitely stay here again if I'm passing through town again.

We loved our stay at the Best Western Pioneer in Lusk. From the check in to the check out it was a great stay, The chuck wagon breakfast is a unique experience on it's own. The friendliness of all the staff is above and beyond. We will be back!

Nice hotel with alot of historical artifacts from old West. Few thrills hotel close to Black Hills and alot of scenery. Good breakfast and decent rooms in a small town make this a very safe and peaceful place.

Stayed here for one night as part of a road trip, on our way from Badlands NP to Rocky Mountain NP. Lusk is a tiny town and it seems like there is not much to do so we were surprised that there was such a good hotel there. The room wasn't too big but just fine. The best thing was the fresh omelets which are prepared to order in the garden for breakfast. The regular breakfast served inside was also really nice, with ingredients to make your own burrito or granola as well as a waffle maker. Staff are also nice, a sweet lady at the reception even gave us two granola bars for the journey when we left. Would have rated the hotel excellent if the lady manning the reception during our arrival had not denied our request for an upgrade to a room with two beds. From what I understood she still had those available but we couldn't get one because we had booked through Booking.com. We booked almost all our hotels through Booking.com and none made a problem of an upgrade if there was a room available...

This is one of the best run hotels I have ever stayed in. Personal attention by owners themselves. Attention to detail and one of the most unique breakfast experiences I have ever had. The owners themselves served guests. Great guest laundry. Relaxing atmosphere. Located in a small town with excellent choices for eating.

The Best Western Motel in Lusk, Wyoming turned out to be the highlight of my road trip back to the Denver area from North Dakota. This little oasis in the middle of nowhere provided everything you could ask for in an overnight experience. They had a home cooked breakfast that was unequaled in the 5 star hotel I stayed at in Fargo, ND. Fresh eggs, country style potatoes, crisp bacon, burritos, sausage gravy and biscuits, coffee, REAL fruit juice, ice water bottles for free and so on. It had a salt water swimming pool, NO chlorine! Egg omelets in a chuck wagon setting on the veranda made to your liking FREE. The room had all the amenities that you could ask for, free HBO with a large HD screen TV. The staff was very friendly, a nice change from the current lack of customer service you find in many places. I will stay there again and highly recommend this establishment.

This small hotel in the middle of eastern Wyoming is always clean and neat. This was the best nights sleep on our two week vacation. The people are the best in the US. The breakfast was very good. They even had a omelette bar in a Chuck Wagon.

Traveling across country with the family and small baby and we ended up stopping in Lusk. The hotel looked shabby from the outside but rooms are recently renovated, spacious and clean. Best breakfast of all the hotels on our trip :) with a cowboy making omlets for people. Friendly staff and we stay here next time when traveling.

Our stay here was exceptional. The room was on the small side, but Very Clean and comfortable The employees were so helpful and cheerful. Great outdoor atomosphere and the made to order Chuck Wagon breakfast was awesome. The clerk suggested the Pizza Place in town which was the Best pizza Ever.

The hotel had a very friendly staff, clean rooms, wonderful options for breakfast. They also offered free water which was helpful for our day trips. They are keeping the friendly western hospitality of Wyoming alive.

We were driving cross country and this was a wonderful stopover. Clean, friendly, good breakfast. Convenient location right off the road. A real slice of western hospitality. We only stayed one night and didn't explore the area, but it was well located between Black Hills of SD and Wasatch Mountains in Utah.

This was just a one night stopover to break our journey but was planned well in advance. Check in was busy on arrival but we were soon allocated our room by a friendly receptionist and offered bottled water from the cool box. The rooms was on the ground floor with parking adjacent. Inside was a bit dated but very clean with comfortable bed , fridge , microwave and coffee / tea facilities. Also a nice sized bathroom. Out side are 3 seating areas , one enclosed like a beer garden one next to the chuck wagon , where fresh omelettes are made to order by enthusiastic staff and an unusual rocking chairs and tables area made from stone to the front. The lobby where breakfast is served is a bit congested and seating a bit cramped, causing a bit of a bun fight over the toaster! We never noticed any road noise through the night and the town centre is a 15 minute walk away.

This is a nice quaint hotel in Lusk. Rooms are clean and modern, even though from the outside it looks like a normal motel. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful, with chuck-wagon made omelets to order! Seating inside was a bit tight but there was also plenty of outdoor seating. I'd stop there again.

The Pioneer has a great western atmosphere. Everyone working there is very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast in the summer, is made to order at their outdoor chuck wagon. The rooms are clean, modern and quiet. The mattress was excellent. I don't think I'd stay anywhere else while in Lusk.

Just can't say enough about this place. Owner cooks your custom-order eggs outside next to the covered wagon, which you eat outside on tables made of rock. Staff is very helpful, answering any and all questions. Great recommendation for dinner at the local Pizza place. Cute touch; a folder towel on the bed included flowers. If you're in Lusk, you just have to stay here.

We were a family of four driving from the east coast to Wyoming. Being light sleepers, our main concerns are cleanliness, and quiet and dark for sleeping. This hotel was a pleasant surprise on a long drive (seemingly in the middle of nowhere) through Wyoming on a hot day. Making our way back east from Devils Tower, we stopped for the night in Lusk. There are not a lot of choices around for places to stay, but even so, this is a great place to stop. The staff are so friendly, and it is refurbished but has been there since the 30s. The owner has his family antiques in the lobby and the breakfast is the best anywhere. In addition to the great breakfast spread indoors, they cook omelets to order outside out of a "chuckwagon." This is the only place I've stayed that had TWO luggage racks! It was spacious, clean, newly painted, had dark curtains, a really large TV, a closet, VERY comfy beds, blankets and pillows, and a pool. Traffic can be noisy, and the shower water temp. fluctuates a bit. Highly, highly recommended.

What a great find in a small town - the reviews are all correct. The staff at this hotel were hands down the best we have ever encountered. Genuinely nice and wanting to please. The breakfast was amazing and has ruined us for any other hotel. Nothing will ever compare - far more than a bagel and donut. Custom ordered omelets were wonderful! We will stay here again if we are ever back this way. Clean room and convenient too. Thanks for everything!

Just had an absolutely delightful stay. I'm on a road trip so we are only spending one night here but the people are friendly, the rooms renovated and the breakfast... oh the breakfast. Best free breakfast I've had in a motel. If my travels take me through the Lusk area again, I'll definitely start here again.

the breakfast served form the back of a chuckwagon stagecoach was great and the whole experience from check-in to the easy check-out was excellent and I would recommend to anyone. It was actually worth the extra our drive when leaving mount Rushmore

We stopped for a night on our way to SD, and again on the way back. The service is the friendliest we've ever encountered. The breakfast omelette wagon is great! We took a room with 2 queens that has a second bedroom with another 2 beds, and it was very convenient with the kids. The room was clean and comfortable.

After driving for 6 hours I stopped at a in gas station in Lusk,Wy to get directions to a clean safe place to spend the night and was directed to several motels i was unfamiliar with so when I saw the Best Western sign i felt like I had come home I was so relieved. The price was reasonable, room was very clean including the TV remote....the staff was 5 stars....had a swim and turned in for the night. Breakfast was chuck wagon style, Coffee and omelet were excellent even met 2 couples from my home state of New Jersey. So if your traveling thru Lusk,Wy or anyway and see a Best Western that's the place to stay!!!!!

We stayed twice on our family vacation this month. We enjoyed each of our stays. Lore and staff are great and very helpful. They have a very nice and clean location. Enjoyed our stay. Best beds we have had on a trip. Breakfast is great. We will add this stop on all other trips when we are in the area.

I expected this place to be somewhat run down. It is old, but it has been remodeled, and is in very good condition. The Bed:The best I experienced during our week long trip which included visits to Denver and Rapid City. It was firm, but soft on top. By far the best breakfast. Steel cut oats, and omlets made to order. The owners and mgr are on site, and everyone provides excellent Service.

Really glad we stopped off here in the very nice town of Lusk. Received a warm welcome and great hospitality throughout our stay. The rooms have a fridge, microwave, comfortable beds and free wi-fi but no safe. The complimentary breakfast was good with a decent selection. On the recommendation of the lady who checked us in we dined at “The Pizza Place” and had one of the best pizzas I've ever tasted. I can thoroughly recommend breaking your journey with a stay here.

Stopped overnight and were greeted by a very friendly and informative gentleman. The room was clean and the size was adequate. The location is not too far from downtown and there is a coffee stand next door. The morning breakfast was very good (they brag about it and it's true). In the summer they have an outdoor area for breakfast that looked pretty nice.

I recently stayed at the Pioneer while attending meetings in Lusk. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable, and updated nicely. There is an outdoor patio area where you can hang out at and where breakfast is served. They make delicious (free!) omelets out of a chuckwagon. Really great ambiance. They even have bikes that guests can use to ride around town on. I would highly recommend staying here if you ever are in Lusk.

Very disappointed,my wife and I had stayed once before was very impressed and were so looking forward to our stay again even changing route to stay in Lusk. I made my reservation months in advance. I should've known something was not right when the lady at the front desk, mumbled something about smoking or non-smoking room not sure what she was referring to. Then mumbles something about rearranging. She knew at that point she had given my room to someone else. Unwilling to inform us of her mistake or say I am sorry or anything else. Then when I confronted her at checkout about not getting the right room then gave me a half way sencire "I'm sorry" I have to say this is nice place to stay, but I would strongly advise anyone to confirm you are getting the room you reserved.

Nice large rooms. The breakfast was the best we've had, period. Not fancy, just good old American comfort. Made us want to stay another night. People were great and you could tell the owner really enjoyed working with people.

It's obvious this hotel has been around a long time but the room was clean, food was great, staff was very helpful. There is also a place called The Pizza Place which had great food. The Pizza Place was recommended by staff. This Best Western also offers omelets cooked in and old covered wagon! My husband and I enjoyed the 18 hours we stayed there! if we ever go through Lusk again we will stay there

Wonderful hosts. Excellent breakfast - you wouldn't think it's a chain by the amount of care they put into this place. Also, it is fun to have outdoor breakfast cooked to order by the covered wagon! I stayed in room 102 and my colleagues stayed in 136.

Here is what we will place on trip advisor: This is a very simple hotel and, in fact, a motel. The rooms are not fancy, and the carpets could use replacing. But the rooms and the entire premises are clean and well-maintained, and everything else about Pioneer at Lusk makes it a very nice place to stay. The staff are not only welcoming; they are genuinely warm and caring. The breakfast has a well-deserved reputation for its great breakfast, which has a "crew" of four or five serving the guests with the greatest personal attention. We stayed twice and looked very much forward to the second visit there.

This small motel in Lusk, Wyoming is outstanding in every way. It is a throwback to the retro hotels of the 1950s, but the service and hospitality was exceptional. They provided a freshly cooked omelette breakfast in their courtyard (while you watch!), biscuits and gravy with "real" sausage gravy, free water bottles - 24-7, and did I mention hospitality? They also recommended visiting the "best pizza" joint in Wyoming in Downtown Lusk, and they were right - it was superb. Other hotels should be learning from this small, well run family business.

Before we even reached our room, my husband commented on how polite the reception staff was. It was immediately evident that extra care was taken to maintain the exterior of this charming, older property. Our room was well-lit, with a restful, updated contemporary interior. It was prepared so that we felt as if we were the first guests to ever use the room. Best night's sleep in 4 days of travel due to firm, king-size bed and the abilty to set the fan to remain on. Thoughtful bathroom amenities. And no styrofoam plates or plastic utensils at breakfast. Kudos to the owner/mgr. for that special touch. Scrambled eggs were a welcome sight with wonderfully fresh condiments for the option to build-your-own breakfast burrito, plus a variety of healthy toppings for the homemade oatmeal. The usual breakfast fare such as biscuits with sausage gravy, yogurt, cereal, etc. were also available. Unfortunately, the family with children who checked in next door could be heard clearly enough in the morning for us to learn their sons' names. However, it was certainly less disturbing than guests who allow their hotel room doors to slam shut at all hours of the night and early morning, which did not occur here.

We were traveling with another couple and decided to stay overnight in Lusk before heading to Denver airport the next day. Great place to stay! Beds were comfortable. Refrigerator, etc...The other couple said it was the best night sleep they'd had on our vacation, also. Friendly, clean and by far, the best free breakfast we've ever had!

What a pleasant surprise this motel is, I would have to say that this was possibly the best stay we had on our rode trip. On arrival they offered us free bottled water and there were comfy chairs to relax in while checking in which was so appreciated after a long ride and being a group. Our room was spacious and very clean and had everything you could possibly need or want. We headed to the pool which was heaven on a hot summers day. The outdoor furniture was unique, quirky and fun, the wagon breakfast was AMAZING, it was the best breakfast ever, the staff were amazing, friendly and helpful, this place ROCKS I would totally recommend a stay here!

Nice accommodations with a great breakfast. We forgot and left a briefcase with important items in our room. The maid found the briefcase and immediately took it to the office. The motel personnel went out of their way to contact us and they secured the briefcase until we were able to pick it up the next day. Thank you so much. Wyoming has great people!

We stayed here on our journey through Wyoming. Form the moment we walked through the door, until we left, we were impressed. We were greeted very warmly as soon as we walked in. They offer free bottled water upon check in. We went to our room, it had everything that we could want or need, and decorated very nicely. The next morning we went to enjoy the free breakfast. This was by far the BEST breakfast that we ever received free at any hotel. They show you all of their offerings, which is quite abundant. They even use fresh eggs, instead of the powered ones. Everything was absolutely delicious. I cannot say enough good things about this place, we were very pleasantly surprised.

I travel with my westie Lucy, and found the location perfect for walking her. Also, the room was fresh and clean, with new carpet and nice furnishings. The staff was great, and offered directions for dining options.

This hotel looks like an old hotel, but looks can be deceiving! It has updated and very clean rooms and comfortable beds. The rooms are quiet and restful. Since Lusk is a long drive from other places and you are on the way to another, it is a welcoming place to find rest. The staff is all very friendly and helpful. The morning breakfast is like no other I have seen. There is a wide variety of tasteful home cooked items served buffet style. It is all cooked in a kitchen right beside the dining area. It was delicious and they make sure to keep all items ready for guests. We try to stay here every time we travel through this area and look forward to our stay.

This is an excellent lodging place. Worth the trip. We go out of our way when needing to lodge in Eastern Wyoming in order to stay at this location. The people there are most hospitable. This is well worth the price.

The Beds at this Best Western are GREAT! Room was very clean, and the amenities were also very nice. The breakfast was the best! I don't think I've had a better breakfast and felt like I was eating at a restaurant! What a great example of western hospitality!

We stayed one night passing through Lusk,WY at the Best Western and had a room with 4 queen beds for our family of 4. They offered great customer service and a wonderful women that made breakfast and prepared or receipt for us in the morning. We will stay there every time we pass through Lusk.

Stayed here a quick night en route to Deadwood. This place is DARLING! Fixed up very nicely, the rooms are very clean, but... THE BED.... So Uncomfortable! The pillows could certainly stand to be replaced as well. The breakfast was mediocre, but the folks that run the place couldn't be any sweeter. We suspect we will stay here again if the need arises!

There were no weird smells, and the rooms were comfortable. White sheets and bedding and flat screen TV. Tub very clean. No weird smells in the towels. White and not worn down. I didn't feel creepy as in some small town hotels. You would be very satisfied to stay here. It is a good place to stay on the way to Rushmore also, only about 3 hours or so away.

The hotel staff were experienced, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. Room was immaculate, decor very pleasing, breakfast exceptional. Truly an oasis. Lobby decor included historic furnishings and wall hangings. Staff were very helpful and efficient, and knew a lot about the area, places to eat, nearby attractions, and history of the frontier West. It was overall a very pleasant experience and a nice surprise while on a business trip.

Needed a place for an overnight stay after a late start and this proved very satisfactory. Room was clean and comfortable enough. Facility looks to be kept well. Staff were warm and friendly and although I had to be back on the road at 6 the next morning, they had breakfast out early so I was able to grab a bite to eat as well.

We were very impressed with this motel. The room was very homey and the owners, staff and breakfast was great we would highly recommend this motel to any one. It was a refreshing stop on our way to Jackson Hole

Tom, the owner is great. I traveled with a group of 25 and everyone enjoyed the hotel and breakfast. Tom went out of his way to make the stay trouble free for me. I needed to get to another town and Tom made sure I was able to make the trip.

we were pleasantly surprised by the adjoining rooms with 4 queen beds, all with fine linen, comfortable pillows and new bedspreads etc all in a small rural Wyoming town. this is an older motel but well maintained and very comfortable stay. very friendly staff and most unique.... a full hot breakfast with everything you could ask for...even meat! and best of all this motel is very affordable! unless you are used to 3 and 4 star hotels, you can't go wrong with jewel in the rough Wyoming plains. it met all our expectations and then some!

Very nice motel with a western flair, with the buildings being of historical significance to the area. Nicely updated with modern amenities. Clean and quiet, with a great hot breakfast. Lobby has a quaint western décor with historical treasures on display. Helpful and friendly staff.
