    « Great Clean Hotel »

The room was great and clean. Could not hear any noise, very quiet. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was really delicious. also very close to luray caverns. There was a mix-up at check-in, but the staff was fast to fix the issue.

« Clean and Centrally Located »

Stayed here for two nights in two rooms on bottom floor. Had issues with keys many times. Was told they just changed system. A little aggravating but overall not an issue. They helped us and were gracious in doing so. Allowed us to have dogs in room and noticed many others did as well. Clean and comfortable and nothing more or less. Restaurant was closed while we were there. If you want something more upscale stay somewhere else but if you are in area for sightseeing with family and just need a place to sleep and know it is clean then stay here. We did and enjoyed it.

« Love the people every one is so nice »

Will always come back again for our vacation. Every thing is really close right down the road and u r right their. Then when u do anything it is all together and u do not have to drive far to do anything.

    « Stay away »

Plunger in the sink didn't work. Door lock wouldn't open (used 8 different keys, some worked, some didn't, some changed their minds). Reception was less-than-courteous and totally uninterested in our problems with the door. Way more expensive than you'd expect. Way poorer quality than you'd expect. It was clean and the bed was made, so at least housekeeping is good. That's about all that can be said positively.

« Close to Luray Caverns »

Pleasant room with view of the Super Moon Setting. Our 2nd floor room was very spacious and with a very comfortable King bed, and coffeemaker in the. We enjoyed a very quiet, comfortable setting. They did not offer a regular breakfast like most BW, but did offer a 20% off discount at their restaurant.

« Passing through with dogs »

We were passing through on Halloween this year so we were able to see a great small town trick or treat. We had 2 dogs which are $10 extra per dog but the room was clean, bathroom clean as well. Staff very friendly. Coffee in room which we did not use and breakfast on site also which we did not use but you get a discount voucher when you check in.

    « Best Western stay »

Stay was affordable and hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Room was a good size, also nice and clean. Cable TV and hi-speed wi-fi were included. They are also located right next to a little Italian eatery that had wonderful food. Would definitely recommend.

« Good sleep Poor breakfast »

Clean room. Bed was comfortable as were pillows Internet fast Breakfast was poor: eggs & corned beef hash served room temperature with limp toast. Coffee good. Had no time to send back. Rather old decor.

    « Great breakfast »

Although rooms are slightly tired they were clean with good facilities such as aircon, fridge, microwave, iron & board. Shower was decent with plenty hot water. Parking right outside your room unit. There is a pool which was covered for the winter. Good location for visiting Luray Caverns and doing Skyline Drive. We found dinner nearby at an Irish bar which did good burgers at decent prices. Best of all was their breakfast. Service by a lovely lady. We had the freshly made pancakes with bacon and maple syrup which were huge. The oatmeal porridge was very good. The cinnamon French toast was even better!

    « Not a $100 a night room »

Stayed 2 nights while hiking the Shenandoah N.P. Close to the Thornton Gap entrance. It is also close to Luray Caverns and a shopping center, gas station and chain restaurants. I pass through the area at least twice a year and I am looking for a place to stay on a regular basis. I'm not sure this is it based on value for my money. The room was large, clean and did not smell. The motel is undergoing remodeling in two phases with the baths first and furnishings later. The bathroom had recently been remodeled and was clean and well stocked. There was a good size refrigerator and a small microwave. The only issues I had was with the linens. ALL the towels had stains on them. The gentleman at the desk apologized and replaced them. He said mgt. was trying to train the housekeeping staff to look out for this. The next morning I noted that the sheets on the bed were so thin they had holes in them from wear. They also had a dingy grey look to them. When I checked out I reported this to the lady at the desk she also apologized but didn't offer to make any adjustments in my bill. Basically, I don't believe I got a $100 a night room (especially with no breakfast included), perhaps a $70 a night room. If the price had been lower I would have rated it a 3. I did not try the restaurant so I can't comment on it. The positives are the staff, especially the gentleman that checked me in, were very nice. If you stay on the second floor and need assistance with your bags they will help you.

    « Nice stay »

Was a over night stay on way to Nashville. The hotel was very clean and quite a little dated . The only down fall was that for a Best Western no breakfast included in the stay just a discount at the restaurant at the hotel.Staff was friendly.

« Shower was inusable. Room smelled like mildew and smoke. »

My family got in late that evening, so I did not check the shower. As we entered, the room stunk like smoke and mildew. The "upgrades" were half done. When we woke up the next morning, I went to take a shower, and saw the tub was half full of water, the faucet was NOT dripping so the maids who cleaned it had to know it was there! I complained to the manager who told me I should have said something the night before. He would NOT give a discount, stating because we reserved the room on line that he could not do so. I cry BULL. The only good part of this hotel was the food and the wonderful staff in the attached diner that you get 20% off the food. (no he wouldn't give me a discount on that either) I will never stay here again, I will never recommend this to another person either.

    « Recent Stay »

Nice hotel, typical BW stay. Service was good, rooms were clean. A little bit of a smell when we checked in, but ran the AC and smell was removed. Didn't find a blanket in the room but was too tired to call it in to the front desk......suggest blankets be placed in each room.

« Short stay but decent local option »

I stayed here because of friends getting married in the area. It is a basic hotel with not a lot of amenities. My room was on the end, which I would recommend. Very quiet. I was only in my room for probably 10 hours total of my visit. It was a clean place to stay and shower, but not somewhere I would want to stay long term. I travel a lot and I enjoy the amenities, particularly a fitness center. Not an option in little Luray. I should note that my bathroom felt updated. New shower head and surround. It was nice. Front desk staff was very friendly. They offer a paid breakfast which is very inexpensive. You get a 20% off coupon for breakfast when you check in. My oatmeal was 2 bucks!

« BEST place in town [must read all] »

I read a lot of reviews others wrote before choosing this hotel on different sights. Some were silly - like outdated who cares you are not spend $400 a night , There are some small spots on the carpet so do like I do where flip flops or socks [ the carpet was clean ] The pics you see on line are real then I pull up the place on a map and street view up and down the road and behind the hotel [ it look safe to me ] This place was full every time I was there. The built in restraint served a great breakfast so even if you don't stay it is a great place to eat but if you do stay you get a discount to eat there. The outside of the hotel was well lit up / pool was well maintained / comfortable bed / the room as well as the bathroom was clean and everything work good. The staff as well as the cleaning crew do a great job to maintaining the place. I stayed 2 nights in Aug. 2016 on the way to N.Y. and one night in Sept 2016 on the way back home. I did have one problem but guess what it was taken care of in under 15 minutes [now that's service] Very well located everything was under 5 miles/ shopping and places to eat along with Luray cavern park. So it comes down to this no place is like home; you are not paying $400 a night; so just except it for what it is a clean - comfortable- safe place to sleep. The Staff does a great job to make you feel at home and try their best to make you happy. So if you do stay take the time to give a fair and honest review most reviews are negative because people are slow to say good things thinking someone else will but that is not always the case. I am glad I staid here. forgive spelling.

    « Just booked in!!! »

Sink and ice bucket See images Unused as we have just booked in. Ice bucket will remain unused. Not a great first impression.... Will let u know about the rest of the stay Smell in staircase is like warm rotting "something"! Ants are crawling around door frame, albeit on the outer frame!!!

    « Clean & Comfortable »

This is obviously and older motel but it is clean and affordable with a very comfortable bed. I like the older units with exterior doors. The restaurant serves only breakfast and it is not free but you get a 20% discount and the food is very good. My waitress was very good as well. There is a Pizza place right next door as well. Would return if I'm in the area.

« I would not recommend this hotel. »

Most Best Western Hotels offer a complimentary breakfast where guests can help themselves. This Hotel did not offer complimentary breakfast even though the room rate was very high. Breakfast at the Hotel Restaurant costs extra and was not satisfactory. There were very limited choices of food.

    « Great Stay »

Very convenient to Luray Caverns and historic downtown Luray. Comfortable room. Restaurant in the hotel and close to other restaurants. Beautiful area - close to Skyline Drive. Staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Would stay there again.

    « Keep shopping around! »

Dirty rug, ugly mustard yellow dirty bed spreads, smelly room, the maid never cleaned our room, never refreshed our towels, bed sheets, coffee supplies (coffee was horrible), or even supplied us with toilet paper when we ran out. We got locked out of our room because our key card stopped working. When we complained, the front desk people didn't seem to care. The restaurant food was not so good. I would never stay at another BW again. When you walk around the hotel, there is an area that smells like barf and it makes you sick to you stomach smelling it. VERY DIRTY PLACE TO STAY SO KEEP SHOPPING. I am glad to be home and out of there. Very bad experience.

« Decent place for an overnight stay »

Room was okay. Did smell of smoke. One dead roach in the morning. So I assume they have had the room sprayed with something. The bed was not too comfortable. But we were only there for a night and we got the room at the last minute on Expedia for $53 so I am not too disappointed. It was a last minute trip and the room was sufficient.

    « unassuming gem »

courteous and friendly front desk staff; nicely updated beds and bathroom; spacious rooms. located next to an Italian restaurant with very good food and generous portions. Microwave and mini-fridge in the room very handy for families and extended visits.

    « Nice Hotel »

Reasonable prices, clean room, we did not find any bugs, towels were bright white. Small pool, we did not jump in, we were busy doing other things. It looked clean and clear. Good water pressure, and the nicest waitresses around where breakfast is served. No weird odors in our room. AC worked well, so well we turned it off at night.

« Nice, convenient and centrally located in Luray VA »

Made a last minute trip to Luray and was able to get a room for the family with no hassle ...and pet friendly too! Centrally located in Main street near caverns and restaurants! Plus, the rooms and areas were in excellent condition!

« Best Western Luray VA »

It was very enjoyable really nice hotel very nice staff. We have a small dog Yorkie 7lbs and she travels a lot with us. We had just spent a week at a hotel Clarion in Strasburg, they do not charge us anything extra because our pet is well behaved and clean and does not damage anything. I normally stay at La Quinta all over the country. Several weeks ago we spent a night at the Best Western in Lexington VA. That to was enjoyable. I decided to sign up for the rewards. We will be staying a lot more in the near future.

    « Disappointing »

Room had horrible odor, like a wet dog. Bathroom had water bugs and spiders. Had to pay when booking so could not cancel. Have stayed in Best Westerns throughout the US and this was my worst experience. No free breakfast or even coffee. Gave 20% coupon for attached restaurant but not good for coffee. Very disappointing for a Best Western

« Not worth the money »

As soon as we opened the door the musty smell almost knocked us over. We cranked up the A.C. and left the room for a few hours. Upon returning the smell was a little better. The pillows are so uncomfortably thick they hurt my neck. Could not sleep at all. Pool water was very cloudy. The only good thing was breakfast. Employees were very friendly. Oh and if you stay here whatever you do, DON'T EAT AT THE DUBLINER! Words can't describe how awful that place was!

    « Anniversary weekend »

Everything was excellent at this hotel, from the room to the staff. When we checked in the gentleman at the counter was very friendly. The rooms were comfortable. The location was excellent for what we went for. We went to visit the Luray Caverns and it was a 5 minute drive to get there, it was also close to gas stations, Walmart, Foodlion, etc.

    « Great hotel »

Great hotel even better price. Clean room and bath room. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Great water pressure in the shower. Friendly, professional staff. Nice attached little restaurant with a good selection of breakfast foods at really great prices. Loved the French toast. Good location if you are exploring Shenandoah National Park.

« Clean, Friendly, Needs More Ventilation »

We arrived late and distressed because the Days Inn on the edge of town did not reach our cleanliness standard. The clerk was friendly nonetheless and explained what we needed to know in a jiffy. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The cleaning staff did an excellent job during the day. My only complaint is that the air conditioner had a bit of a funk to it. We didn't visit the pool because of time constraints but it seemed very clean. There were guests in it at all hours of the day.

« Not terrible, but wouldn't stay here again. »

We were on a road trip, so I booked a room here mostly based on the good reviews and reasonable rate. We knew it was an older property, but we weren't looking for bells and whistles, just a clean, safe place to spend the night. The linens were clean and it seems like management has attempted to upgrade some aspects of the room (pretty bedspread, updated surround on the tub), but this is very obviously an old building, and I suspect maintenance is a challenge. There were issues like a carpet that wasn't too clean, a fridge that had defrosted and was sitting in a puddle of water, and dim exterior lighting. Our AC unit was elderly and never did really get the room cool, although it ran full blast the whole time we were there. I will say that since we were only here for a night, I didn't complain about the fridge, so I can't say how management would have handled that issue. Our room was upstairs in the back (right next to the dumpster -- pungent in July), the stairwells are dark, and I just didn't feel particularly safe going in and out with my older mother and my 5-year-old child.

« RIPPED OFF!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE! »

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! Back on June 24, my wife called and booked a room for $69.99 at a coupon rate with Jessica. They took our credit card info, which we thought and were told was to make sure we got the room at that rate by Jessica. When we got there, we were told that rate wasn't available by John the manager and that we would HAVE to accept that the rate with tax was now $137.86. In all the years I have travelled, I have NEVER been bait and switched with a rate before. We have never spent that much for a room before and we certainly wouldn't have given our credit card info. I called the Best Western customer service number and was told that since I booked over the phone but not with them there was nothing that could be done. Now, because of this scam I decided to call my credit card company and contest this charge and leave the property. We stayed at the Days Inn up the street and were very happy there. However, after telling the Days Inn manager that they would reverse the charges, I just received word that I will still be charged an amount I never agreed upon for a night I didn't stay at their hotel. They ripped me off and can do the same to you!

« Clean and quiet for just a place to sleep while in town. »

We just needed a place to sleep, and were spending the rest of the day with family. Polite, friendly and professional staff. They were helpful with suggestions of things to do in the area and where restaurants are located. It is in a great location, right down town.

« Vacation in Luray, VA »

The Best Western Intown of Luray was a nice, clean place to stay at. The door and cards need to be improved because they both kept jamming all last week, making my grandfather and I get new cards from the front desk.

    « great hotel »

Nice, clean, quiet and well appointed room for a good price. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Really liked the location of the hotel, and the cleanliness of the entire area. Very good value.

« Clean and Good Location »

I gave this a very good because of the service, location, and cleanliness. Spent 5 nights here. My husband and I traveled in the late night, and we arrived at 1AM, and we just simply used the courtesy phone and the person arrived and checked us in. Once we were in our room he made sure everything looked good before departing. This is your typical best western motel. It was ideally located in Luray, where you could walk into town, and was 5 minute drive to the Luray Caverns, and 10 minute drive to the Thorton Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park, and 7 minute drive to a local river outfitters. We had a king room with mini fridge and a microwave. This motel does not have a free continental breakfast like other BWs but there is a restaurant attached that only serves breakfast, and guests receive a 20% discount. The pool is small and at its deepest maybe 6 feet, it looked clean. Our room was very clean, and not spec of dust, or mold. The bed was a bit too firm, but the pillows were awesome. We only asked for housekeeping service 2 days and they did a great job and were very friendly when we would see them. If we were to visit Luray in the future, we would stay here again.

    « A great place to stay »

Great Place to Stay No bed bugs ,room was in stander great and clean.Bathroom was clean and in great condition.TV was great.good internet services.Quiet at knight. Parking space was available. I recommend the Hotel.

    « Average Place »

The place is older, clean enough, no breakfast but you get 20% off at the restaurant which we didn't use. The person before us, I assume, turned off the mini refrigerator/freezer so there was water in the bottom of the refrigerator from the defrosted freezer that overflowed the water tray. We ended up cleaning it up with a lot of towels. Internet worked fine, the printer for guests wasn't working right, beds were fine though double beds, staff was nice, but the prices in Luray are high for some unknown reason. This area was the best choice for us pricewise while traveling but it is way overpriced compared to similiar Best Western hotels, my opinion. I would like to give it 2 1/2 stars.

    « Nice Surprise »

Very comfortable beds, great TV selection and friendly staff. Good location in town and great little pizza joint next door. The town of Luray was a nice surprise gem on our family trip up Skyline Drive.

    « Pool area filthy »

The pool water was clean but the area around the pool was filthy. It looked like it had never been cleaned. The check-in and check-out staff were not friendly, at all. The room was great. But the price was way too high considering that we couldn't even use the pool.

    « Nothing special »

Good location as you can walk into town. We used a coupon so for the price the room it met our expectations. The towels and sheets were grey and there were flys in the room. When you walk in the room has an interesting smell. Bathroom was nice. They give you a 20 % off coupon for breakfast at their restaurant.

« Old but clean and comfy »

Nice, professional staff at check in, very informative and helpful. Motel is older and furniture shows it. Beds were updated and comfy. This is a very old, sleepy but picturesque, country town. We only had to stay for one night and it served its purpose. The pool looked pristine and clean but we didn't use it.

    « Value for money »

We recently stayed for two nights in a king size room. The room was very clean. As others have written, some of the linen and towels are not bright white (they have become a dull grey in colour) but they are clean. The staff we met were all very friendly. We weren't bothered by noise from other guests or the road. We slept with the air conditioner on all night as the weather was hot and it was a little noisy (not enough to disturb our sleep). For the price, we were very happy with our accommodation.

« Nothing bad, but nothing special »

Great shower, comfortable bed. Fridge, microwave, fast & free wi-fi. Please note that there are 2 levels and NO elevator. Although there is no complimentary breakfast the 20% off coupon you get when you register makes breakfast very reasonable. Regular pancake at $2.99 fills a plate. Add sausage $1. Add an egg for 50 cents. Coffee $1.59. THEN subtract 20% Belgian waffle comes with large bowls of whipped cream and blueberries/strawberries. For those of us hiking in Shenandoah it was ideal although an average hotel AND significantly less expensive. Good hotel for the price.

« Clean and tidy, convenient location »

Friendly staff, allowed us to check in a bit early. Good value (with the visitors centre voucher book coupon of course) and in a reasonable area for the town and the caverns. The room is typical motel but quiet and with comfy beds (which I'm lying in as I write this). No breakfast included but an attached restaurant with 20% off for patrons and free decent wi fi.

    « Getaway »

Stayed over for one night to get to our final destination. Staff were very friendly. Our room was very clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Had breakfast the next morning. The menu could have been a little bigger but the food was pretty good.

    « good, not great »

Stayed here recently. Room was clean but old. Was missing some towels but when called desk they were made available. good basic hotel but nothing fancy. Shower was strong and seems like newest part of room. Centrally located and easy to get to local attractions.

    « Great experience »

We were greeted and welcomed in a very warm, caring way. This was particularly special because we had been on the road for several hours. The hotels in DC could improve by learning and role modeling BW's quest services.

    « Eh. »

This motel leaves a lot to be desired. My sister in-law had reserved 3 rooms requesting that they be on the first floor. She even called the motel directly to make this request. We checked in the Friday night of Memorial day weekend about 11pm. Upon arrival she was told no rooms were available on the first floor by a rather rude gentleman. Now my sister in-law has a bad heart and cannot climb stairs at all. Miraculously 2 rooms appeared on the first floor!! Rooms were just OK. Nothing spectacular. They do need some work. Our housekeeper was fantastic. Trash stayed on the sidewalk near our room the entire weekend. At the pool, however, they do need to have towels readily available. You should not have to go to the office soaking wet to get towels and you should not have use your room towels. There were ants also around the pool. This is probably the only motel/hotel left in the US that does not offer any complimentary breakfast. Very sad. They need to reevaluate that.

« Great location, solid choice »

Stayed on way farther south. Great location and super close to Luray caverns. Unexpectedly fantastic breakfast served in diner like setting off of lobby with the friendliest service ever. Quiet motel I'm center of a really quiet town. Good choice for travelers.

    « Horrible place »

Rooms were filthy bedding appeared dirty and stained no one on staff at night!! Air didn't work!over all the worst place we have ever stayed if we would not have arrived so late and been staying longer we would have changed hotels.

« Nice location and poor quality »

We stayed for one night while traveling in Virginia. Very good location if you want to see the Lurray cavern. The quality of room didn't meet any expectations - the bedding & towels looked like were not washed, the room smelled like an old apartment, the carpet was very outdated. The staff was very polite and changed the towels per our request.

« Clean and no bugs! »

First thing I do is pull back sheets and look for bugs. No sign of bugs. Full size beds (not queen). We made it work. Newly remodeled bathrooms. They are fine.. Refrigerator, microwave, hairdryer, coffee maker were all in the room. Pool is small but usable. When I reserved on line, I'm fairly certain I checked the box for breakfast included with the room. When I checked in I was told they would give me a 20% off coupon for the restaurant located in the hotel. No complimentary breakfast here. Overall, it served our purpose. We couldn't get a room/cabin in the park for the evening. It was close and after a long day of hiking and driving, the kids were ready to play in the pool, shower, and watch a little tv.

    « Ok stay »

Staff were nice. Hotel location in small downtown of Luray. Rooms were ok clean but a little dated. Outside of hotel looks like old style 2 story motel. Parking a little tight. Ok for one night stay for friends wedding.

    « Falsely Advertised - and AWFUL! »

There is no way this Best Western could be characterized as a hotel. It is a motel - and an awful looking one at that. I couldn't even contemplate going inside and staying there because just the parking lot was scary enough. Picture your worst drive-by Motel 6 and this dump was much worse. Don't stay here! It looks much better in online pictures than reality. I tried to cancel and get a refund upon arrival but to no avail. They are unrelenting in their cancellation policy; most likely because it's such an awful looking place and they know everyone who drives up to it sight unseen will want to cancel! Go to the Mimslyn Inn across the street. So nice and with a greatly accommodating staff. They take people in all the time who mistakenly book at the BW.

    « Worst Western »

This was the seventh hotel in this chain where we stayed on our 4 week road trip, and by 5% the most expensive. On our late evening arrival, the guy on the front desk appeared competent and helpful until we had the first of many problems. He was not tech savvy so couldn't help when we found there was no internet connection. Then we dicovered we had to pay extra for breakfast, the room door lock was broken, there was no laundry room, no pool open, no fitness room or hot tub. The bed linen (pristine white in all other hotels) was grey, the towels were a mixture of grey and off-white, and the smell of cigarette smoke pervaded the room. In the morning we found the plastic re-surfacing of the bath had peeled off to a large extent rendering it unusable. Our complaints to the (different) man on the desk were met with almost total indifference, and as the hotel was full he was unable to offer us an alternative. He said the problems with the baths in several rooms was known but they would be losing money if they had to close rooms to deal with them. The third guy we saw next day was aggressive and offered no help at all. The bed was fine and the TV good.

« Adequate for limited stay »

We used a hotel magazine coupon and it seemed to irritate the check-in clerk even though the reservation made with the hotel was very friendly. Rooms redone but bad paint jobs, clean enough and good bed. Breakfast area made into a restaurant with a 20% coupon from checkin--- wish we had tried a local place as it probably would have cost the same elsewhere.

    « Nice relief. »

The hotel room was clean, the bathroom was clean, and we didn't find any bugs. The staff were extremely friendly and the restaurant was good. We had a great breakfast there in the morning. It is not too far from wineries and the Shenandoah parkway.

    « Stay elsewhere! »

My stay, in general, was quite disappointing. From the moment of check-in the front office gent was not terribly accommodating. The bed was like a brick and the vinyl mattress cover obnoxious.. Had to ask for toiletries as none were left in the room by housekeeping staff. However, housekeeping DID leave a prior guest's bath towel hanging on the bathroom door. Attempted to operate the TV for several minutes before I realized it had been unplugged from the power receptacle. All things considered I highly suggest you avoid this property.

« Really wanted to give this hotel a better review »

We read the TA reviews on this hotel and thought we could deal with some of the negative comments and they would not make that big a deal. Yes, the towels and sheets are grey, per other reviews, but they seemed to be clean. The grey towels bothered my wife more than me. They did look dirty and dingy. I am not sure what the owner is doing to remedy this, but they need to do something fast. This seems to be a significant concern on TA reviews. The rooms are adequate and clean enough, but nothing like most other BW properties where we stayed on this road trip. It's an old property and has not been updated, so that may be why. The front desk personnel (I believe they were the owners) and housekeeping staff were very courteous. Here's my primary issue; Our room did not have a smoke alarm installed at all. This bothered me. I believe in most states this is building code requirement, especially in a hotel. Regardless, it should have a working smoke alarm. I do not want to rate this property poor just because of that, but I think an average rating is overstating it in light of this significant safety concern.

    « One night stay »

The room was clean, the bed comfortable. Nice large bathroom. It is an older hotel and could use some freshening up, but good for a short stay. It is in town and a great place to stay to walk around the cute friendly town.

« Convenient but not worth it »

The price for this hotel was at least $30/night more than others in the area, even with the AAA rate. I was willing to pay based on reviews and location. Upon arriving with a group, we are told that we only get one parking spot, everyone else needs to park on the street. The gentleman checking us in could use some customer service training Had I known that I would not have chosen this hotel. Not the cleanest motel, some hair in the shower, pillows smelled of smoke. Check out is 11am, no late check out unless you pay a fee per hour. No free breakfast (not sure I would have trusted it anyway). Overall a subpar experience, and my expectations are not high with this level of accommodations.

    « Better than expected »

Has an older run down look on the outside, but nicely upgraded on the inside. Right across the street from a very fancy hotel with luxury dining/bar. Nothing special but the price was right. Expectations exceeded. Ten minute walk to the historic part of downtown and the river walk. Luray caverns just a few minutes away.

    « Short get away »

The hotel was nice, we had a good time sightseeing, we did Luray caverns and some hiking in the mountains.. on Saturday we took advantage of the 20% coupon for breakfast. The service was terrible. We waited a while before got acknowledged we were there, after we ordered our food, the waitress never came to check and see if we needed anything, when she did finally acknowledge we wanted more coffee, she never brought it to us, as we were leaving she decided to bring it over. It seemed she was more interested in the regulars she knew, and us being out of state visiting she was not in a hurry to help. I would think people visiting your establishment you would want to make them feel welcomed. Needless to say on Sunday we decided to eat breakfast some where else.

    « Winter Getaway »

We went to Luray Caverns and checked the AAA book on a place to stay. I am not sure why AAA would recommend this Hotel. I should have known when I walked in and was greeted by a man in a dirty tee shirt but we were in a hurry to get to the caverns as it was late in the day. Upon returning to our room when I walked in I didn't like the smell but thought my air cleaner that I take with me would help with the smell, the rug was old and not very clean then I turned on the heat on and that roared so I knew we couldn't sleep with that on, then I pulled the covers back and the sheets didn't look very good and as turned around there on the floor was half of a condom wrapper. That was it we were out of there. The only good thing was that they reimbursed me when I told them we were checking out.

« Not fancy but clean friendly and a good value »

The staff was nice and beds clean and comfortable. Very good value for this area. Always like the breakfast here so much better than many of the chain restaurants claiming good food. Only negative: In an effort to update dinning room, some of the charming older items have been removed.

« Nice rooms, friendly service »

The hotel was perfect for what we needed. It's just off Rte. 81, has reasonable rates, and it has clean, comfortable & roomy rooms. The breakfast was good. We'll stop here again when we're in the neighborhood.

« Considerably worse than any other Best Western we have used »

We became Best Western members because we have found that BW has considerably better places that the other hotel chains but this one is really awful. Dirty room, especially floors. Old frayed towels. Curtains did not block out the light. Bedding consisted of an old, too heavy comforter and sheets. So, you were either too hot or too cold at night. This hotel should have at least some free coffee in the lobby since there is no breakfast included in the price. (There is an attached restaurant, however).

« Great stay! Very Cozy! »

My boyfriend and I came to Luray for a small vacation and to go see the caverns. We booked our room for 3 days and 2 nights from March 23-25. And I have to say it was quite a pleasurable stay! FIrst off, the front desk was very helpful and informative, giving us a coupon to the restaurant that they had, and the code for the wi-fi. Told us if there was anything we needed to give them a call. Everybody was very nice, great customer service! Our room was cozy and clean! Sure, there was a slight smell of smoke but that's to be expected especially if people smoke outside. The bed was very comfy and OMG the pillows were so fluffy I seriously fell asleep instantly. Great cable selection as well, surprised how many channels this place got! One funny thing that happened was the maintenance guy came by to switch out our microwave plate (had no idea it was broken!) Very nice guy. (I missed his name or I would have name dropped him.) This Best Western seems to be very attentive to customers needs. OH and how can I forget the restaurant! We stopped in before we left and had the best service and food ever! And delicious coffee to wake us up before we headed out back on the road :) All in all, a very happy satisfied customer, next time i'm in Luray i'll be sure to book again! :)

    « professional and hospitable »

very helpful staff; motel and restaurant. helpful custodial staff; great food in restaurant; great and helpful desk staff. Checkin changed our room to first floor on request and provided other items for our stay.

    « Poor Customer Service »

Customer service (front desk was horrible). Visiting the area for a tournament and our team stayed in four rooms. Rooms were fine the food and service in the restaurant was good. When we went to pay for our meals we were suppose to receive a 20 percent discount. The front desk individual fail to give discount and when asked we were told that it was to late to make the correction, We were a large party so the discount was significant, We actually had to go back and forth which ended without a refund. We were totally disappointed in the customer service.

« Front Desk Personnel Very Helpful »

I was staying at this hotel over this past weekend, during the extreme heavy snow event taking place in northern Virginia. I would guess that there was at least 2 to 2-1/2 feet of snow accumulation on Sunday when I was ready to check out and leave the Luray area. The hotel parking lot had not yet been plowed, for which the guy working the front desk that morning was very apologetic. There had been some logistical problems getting someone out there to clear it. When I finally got my 4-wheel drive vehicle packed and ready to leave, I did have problems moving the vehicle, because even with 4-wheel drive the snow was too deep for the vehicle to get enough traction to move through the deep snow. When I stepped out of the vehicle to start some snow removal from in front of the tires, I looked up and the guy from the front desk was approaching with a shovel to help dig me out. He was extremely helpful in removing the snow, and also in giving me a push from the rear of the vehicle to get it moving. With his help I was able to get out of the parking lot onto the already plowed main street. I am extremely grateful for his help, and believe that it was above and beyond his call of duty as a front desk worker. If it helps in any way in having this person commended for his great help and service, this occurred on the morning of January 24th, 2016.

« Trip to Luray Caverns »

We stayed here one night on a visit to the Caverns. From the reviews we read we were expecting something mediocre. But we found ourselves in a newly renovated room, everything was new and clean, still at the lowest price. We did wonder if all the older rooms were occupied, leaving us with a free upgrade.

« Nothing Fancy.."Best West" Can Do Better »

I stayed at this motel many years ago and based on my recent visit..its in need of either new management/ownership. Got an excellent room rate in the off-season (middle of Dec) and snapped it up..but there were drawbacks. 1) Its a non smoking motel... BUT folks still smoke outside their rooms-crushed butts litter the ground upstairs and downstairs. The in-room airconditioner/heater units draw air from outdoors and smoke smell. If you cannot tolerate any smoke smell may want to consider another place. 2) Folks have commented on the dingy looking towels ..but they are clean..can smell the bleach from the laundry. Room mirror had smear marks..which ironically another viewer commented in another review..must be a trademark. Also, there were others "personal articles" left in the night stand that should have been removed by thorough housecleaning 3) The attached restaurant (Alexanders) offered great oatmeal, eggs & cornbeef hash breakfast..The servers/staff were cheery & helpful and kept the worn out coffee cups replenished. It was the best part of the stay. The Best West Intown needs some "TLC" and interior room upgrades. It offers a great intown location..and affordable rates,

    « Don't Reserve »

Check the reviews before reserving, wish I had. When you check note the comments on cleanliness, smoking smell, bugs, cheapness, lack of interest in service. Since I only lost my refund and did not actually stay in this motel, I can only comment on the manner in which I was treated on the phone and since I could tell the clerk was also communicating with someone else while talking to me, I assume I can ding both employee and management.

    « Very Friendly Staff »

The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The hotel is average, nothing spectacular, the bed was very hard for my liking. The breakfast in the hotel was great and the waitress was very friendly. We were in town doing the Blue Ridge wine trail and for the proximity of that, it was good.

« Only Stay Here If You Are Desperate!! Meaning There Is Nothing Else Available Including Sleeping In Your Car »

My husband and I decided to visit the Luray Caverns. We are currently working in Hyattsville, MD and thought it would be fun to drive through the Shenandoah National Park to see the changing of the leaves and then end up in Luray Caverns. We thought it would be fun to stay the night and explore the area the next day. When we checked in the person behind the desk was pleasant and gave us our room key. We booked a king-size, NON-SMOKING, room. The room instantly smelled like much smoking had occurred in the recent past and the room itself was run down, dirty, and simply gross. The bedding was old and outdated and when we turned back the bed comforter, the sheets were yellow and looked like they had not been washed. We went back to the front desk and asked the desk clerk for a NON-SMOKING room. He told us to wait a minute left and came back a few minutes later and gave us another room. The second room was equally awful. It appeared the desk clerk went to the room and poured bleach in the toilet. The smell of bleach was sickening in addition to trying to cut through the smoke smell as well. The combination was disgusting! We went back to the front desk and advised the clerk we would not be able to stay as the rooms we were given were not NON-SMOKING. The desk clerk did not have an explanation and would not give us a refund due to the fact that we had booked the reservation through BOOKING.COM. All I can say is the place is awful!! Do not stay here. As we were leaving, we say other patrons staying there getting ready to bar-be-que on the grills mounted on their trucks while drinking beer in the parking lot. Not the kind of place most people would want to stay, especially families. Didn't appear safe after dark and certainly not a pleasant experience for those wanting to vacation and relax. We were so disgusted, we drove back to Hyattsville!!! The hotel is owned and run by Roger and Nita Patel. I got their business card before leaving and being told no refund. This is no way to run a hotel and certainly does not live up to the expectation of a Best Western. Disappointing!! Do your homework before making a commitment to stay here.

    « Disappointed! »

We love Best Westerns and it is always our hotel of choice if available, But this did not hit the bar or caliber we are accustomed to. The desk clerk was not welcoming or friendly. The room was in need of repairs; we froze the first night, no blanket on the bed just a duvet that was way to heavy to sleep with, also I don't sleep with bedspreads they are on the floor all the time, the heating vent was hanging off the wall with two screws, the toilet seat was broken and the furniture was way to large for the size of the room, not pleased and would never stay there again!

    « TERRIBLE »

Rooms old and dirty. One wall painted a puke green- with a stripped red & grey carpet that was dirty. Bed linen look grey not white. The built in AC & Heater has not been dusted for months the grates have 1/2 inch dust on them! ugh! Wifi horrible keeps kicking us off for no reason. NO FREE BREAKFAST- cheapskates Never again will we stay at a hotel without making a reservation & checking Trip Advisor!

« Good enough for the Dog »

I will start with the positive. The hotel and room were very accommodating for the puppy we brought with us. There is a good piece of land a short walk from the hotel. The hotel was also fairly quiet and VERY close to the downtown area and a short drive to the caverns. The bad: 1. cigarette butts were left in the room, my dog was nice enough to find all of them. 2. There was left over food in the refrigerator from the last guests. 3. The toilet leaked down at the base every time you flushed it, then receded into the broken role on the floor. 4. The replacement remote was not programmed, but we found the original "lost" remote on the floor. Linked back to the room clearly not having been cleaned. ALL of this was reported, nothing was done to fix ANY of it, and no compensation was offered whatsoever. The desk clerk was friendly enough, but it seemed he expected the manager to offer some assistance, which he did not. They simply agreed that was not acceptable. Not impressed with the hotel at all. Had not had a bad experience at a Best Western before, and I do not feel our expectations were too high.

    « Okay buuuuutttt »

Would we stay here again? Maybe. It is very convenient to Luray cavern. Saw some other motels we may check out the next time. The room could have been cleaner. The rooms severely need updated. The bed skirt was nasty looking & the bedspread was ugly gold. Red wall & red striped carpet. The linens were gray as previous posts stated. That didn't bother me because they were clean. The bathroom was okay. The tv remote was missing. Went to call the front desk about it but the room phone didn't work. My husband went down to the front desk. Someone did come up with a remote right away. Also, no tissues in the tissue dispenser. Before we left my husband did let them know about the issues again. As small as these issues were, it was an inconvenience. With a little TLC this could be a good place to stay instead of just being mediocre.

    « Guest »

Room was dusty and dirty. Sheets and towels were gray and disgusting. When we entered the room there was refuse from previous guests. Furniture and bedspread were stained. Railing and floor outside of room were covered in bird droppings. Breakfast room and service were the only positive.

« Got us out of a bind! »

Had reserved a room at a bed and breakfast in the next town, but when we got there we realized that the room was on the 2nd floor and the only access was an old, narrow wooden staircase. We have large dogs (Russian Wolfhounds), one of which cannot navigate these types of stairs and too big to carry. So we went in desperate search of a pet friendly place and breathed a sigh of relief when we found a Best Western nearby. Admittedly the room was dated. But this wasn't my honeymoon, so not a big deal. It appeared relatively clean and though the linens weren't crisp and white, they smelled good. Bed was comfortable enough and no noise from the neighbors or outdoors. The AC was a little tough to figure out (and very old) but did the job and we were comfortable. This is definitely no frills...manage your expectations and you'll be fine.

« Motel in Convenient Location »

This Best Western is convenient to the very scenic and easy trail, the Massanutten Storybook Trail. It is also located right next to a small Italian restaurant that had very good reviews, although we didn't eat there. The breakfast, while crowded and service was slow, was excellent with a good value.

« OK Place To Stay But Never Again »

I paid over $100 a night and got no free breakfast. But they gave us a 20% off coupon. Wow- what a deal!! They have a restaurant that serves breakfast only and cannot give you a free breakfast. I don't quite understand that logic. When we arrived there some people with the room chairs outside their rooms drinking beer. Is that even legal to do?? My wife was never told on the phone about the breakfast.

    « No complaints »

We stayed 2 nights while hiking in the area and this place was fine. Not fancy, but the room was mostly clean and the beds comfortable. The walls are thin so bring earplugs. Breakfast in the attached restaurant is cooked to order and tasty. I've stayed in far worse and for a small town it's hard to find much better.

    « Wedding »

We R staying there for a wedding and everything is great . The breakfast was amazing . I would go back WAL mart is just down the road which we went to a lot and the wedding was down the road at Stover Hall and we went to Uncle Bucks for dinner one night what was amazing and get the steak and cheese sandwich and u will not be disappointed . The breakfast at the hotel was also great the rooms where clean ... I will go back if I am in town again

« Beautiful Caverns Mediocre Hotel »

The Best Western Luray is located in the downtown area. You can walk to restaurants which is good as the hotel does not provide breakfast. The restaurant at the hotel did met the needs of traveling companions. The hotel needs updating. The room was clean and small.

    « Good for the Cost/Location »

Bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths were gray and could stand some bleach or total replacement. One lady in our group bought new towels and wash cloths for herself and room mate. Luckily, I took my own towel.

    « Not Recommended »

I would never come back to stay at this hotel. The rooms very smelling smoke even though we requested non-smoking. Beds were not comfortable and the decor is so dull. Some of the lights were either dim or non-functional.

    « Friendly Staff »

Staff friendly and helpful. Room unclean. Linens gray. Air conditioning/heating unit fair. Overall the entire place needs updated and cleaned thoroughly. We stayed here for two nights for a family event. Went with Best Western as a known establishment. Very disappointed in how badly the rooms were in need of cleaning.

« Towels are still grey »

This was just a quick stopover heading towards the caves. As previously stated the towels are grey in colour and and not very pleasing on the eye. The front desk did not seem to bothered and uninterested. The room was not that clean but the bedding was. Limescale on the toilet rim and with the furniture had seen better days. Introduce the room to the hoover, you cannot be that busy all the time.

    « Dated and old »

It appeared to be clean, but the bath linens were gray and old. Yuck. It was a tiny room. I would not stay here again - I think there are better options elsewhere in the area (although there seem to be worse ones, too!) It was too expensive for the quality.

    « Nice place »

Nice place, front counter man was very polite and helpful, made a great recommendation for supper, pool needed to be cleaned, wife left her foot print on the bottom of the pool, had to pay for breakfast, 20 per cent off for staying.
