When visiting the area on business, the Oaklands is always my go to hotel. Friendly, unobtrusive staff. Set in parkland, makes my stay more relaxing, beds are comfy, decor pleasant and above all the food is outstanding. Bizarrely, they sell their own, homemade, Beech wood turned pens, made by a regular resident, part of their green policy I'm told.
My husband paid £1200 (silent Charity Auction) for 2 nights in the Oaklands Hotel, Laceby. Our room wasn't serviced, nor bed made (we didn't need clean sheets) by 5.15pm the following day. Apparently something we had or hadn't signed up for and told by unrepentant Front Desk 'hotel industry has changed since lockdown'. Value for money ? NO WAY yet so easy for someone on the staff to show a bit of goodwill and pop upstairs to straighten things up for us. How times have changed - no longer is the poor uninitiated customer to be made 'comfortable'. Facecloths were advertised for the bathroom but apparently had been removed during Covid. It appears the Front Desk at Oaklands will declare 'War' at the first opportunity ! The customer is GOING to be at fault so be warned but in our case at what cost - puts one off Charity Auctions for life
On arrival we were impressed by Oaklands Hall - it's a beautiful building from the outside having come up a long driveway in parklands however that is really where the charm ends. Our room was stifling hot, with no air conditioning just a fan in the middle of summer. The bathroom was very sweaty as the extractor fan didn't really work and so just made the room hotter. The decor was in serious need in a revamp - a lot of marks on the walls, carpets, heat marks above the radiator etc. The room and a lot of the hotel smelt like stale smoke as if it hasn't been refurb'ed since the smoking ban. The staff however are really lovely and will do anything for you. They're very attentive in both the restaurant and the bar and try their best to make your stay pleasant. The bar/restaurant backs onto a lovely grass area - a few more, modern benches would have been good. The food in the restaurant is pretty mediocre. The cooked breakfast pleasant but the continental meats and cheese was terribly presented and was just huge chunks of cheese hacked off a cheddar block. Dinner, you get what you pay for, its a reasonably priced restaurant.
Looked lovely on approach. Did not get much of a friendly welcome on arrival, more just instructions. Room was right above where staff smoked. Quite noisy. Blinds were missing slits and there was a generator noise all night. The breakfast was terrible I wouldn't bother paying at all. Bacon solid. Sausage was horrible. Tomatoes mushrooms and hash brown all well over cooked. No meats and cheeses on continental, however was on menu. Pastries were clearly a day old not fresh, in fact no fresh local produce at all. Had to ask for salt and pepper and sauce which were stored behind the bar area. Staff couldn't smile and looked sick and tired.
Was here for a wedding. The venue is absolutely amazing to look at, but the cracks appear on the things that matter. The arrival drinks tasted wierd - on closer inspection they served out of date beer. I bought it to the attention of the bar staff and they argued that it was fine and refused to change it. The staff (teenagers) looked like they didn't want to be there and had the attitude to match. Most were rude (not just to me, but others in the party). The food was abysmal for a wedding, under cooked, hard potatoes and then overcooked, dry meat. For such a premium looking venue, I expected better.
Have stayed here twice now.l when over in Grimsby with work. The staff are great, and the bar/restaurant is a nice place of eat and drink. The food is good and reasonably priced. Plenty of options to choose from. Rooms are clean, if a little dated. Will stay again.
This was an unexpected treat, we loved the environment, the beautiful garden, sitting having a drink in the large patio, the staff who were all so friendly and lovely, great food in the restaurant and we had an amazing room with a balcony. I wasn't sure about being close to Grimsby for a holiday, there is some lovely coast near Cleethorpes and the Wolds are delightful.
We were attending a wedding and chose to stay at Oaklands Hall Hotel as it was only down the road. The wedding ceremony started before the check-in time so we rang the day before to see what the chances were of checking in early given our situation. We spoke to Amy and she managed to accommodate our request which was much appreciated. Amy was also the member of staff who checked us in on arrival, she was kind enough to write down a couple of local taxi numbers to make sure we got back safely after the celebrations had ended 🙌🏼 Our room had everything we needed and was clean and tidy on arrival. Barry greeted us at breakfast, he showed us to our table, explained what was available and took our order. There was plenty to choose from both hot and cold, we both had a cooked English breakfast….and I even got to have some black pudding 😋 All of the staff were great, but a massive thanks to Barry and Amy who we interacted with the most for making our short stay so enjoyable. Take care all 🙌🏼
A Sunday breakfast finishing at 9:30!!! What hotel in the world of this status finishes breakfast at 9:30 in the morning, especially at a weekend, more so on a Sunday!! It's ridiculous and if anything just tight ££ by the management. On the plus side, room clean drinks price not ridiculous.
I've been to The Oaklands many times but this time I left feeling very disappointed by the service and the food. We were there for a large family celebration for my mother's 80th birthday and rented one of the private rooms. If we had not brought our own table decorations the room would have been very bare. We had to clean the high chairs we needed to use - they were very grubby and had food still on them. The room was in a lovely position, with a great view of the gardens and access to the patio which was nice, but we were let down by the food. Many of the meals were cold, over cooked and did not taste particularly nice. Desserts were no better. It will be a long time before we visit again.
We recently stayed for 2 nights at Oaklands Hall and overall, it was a very pleasant experience. We had dinner both nights and the food/service were very good. Helpful, friendly staff and a lovely outlook from the restaurant. The room, however, was very dated and would really benefit from a makeover. It was clean enough although the carpet could've done with a good vacuuming!
On arrival I advised the receptionist that I had an executive suite, however due to the absence of a lift I wouldn't be able to use it as I'd twisted my knee a few days previous. There was no empathy and I was advised there was a standard room on the lower floor, no discount. I was late arriving due to traveling back from a funeral in Iceland, shattered, and had to rush to get ready for the wedding I was attending. The room was very bog standard and would benefit from a refurbishment. I wanted a coffee to wake myself up from the travelling I'd just done, however the kettle had water and black bits in! In the bathroom I was presented with an outdated bathroom and what can only be described as a weeks worth of hair in the bath plug hole, had I not been in a rush I would have demanded a room change, I put the provided bathmat over the hole and proceeded to get ready. I put the shower on full heat and waited for what seemed and eternity for some temperature and settled for lukewarm, as mentioned i was in a hurry. I'd just finished lathering my hair when the heat became scalding hot!! I proceeded to get ready drying my hair with an ancient hairdryer, styled my hair eventually when it was dry, on washing my hands in the sink you have to turn the tap quite a few times to get any running water. Hot tap was immediately scalding with no warning of this. Cold tap was the same in that you have to turn a few times to get water. Had it not been our good friends wedding and for my exhaustion we would have cancelled the booking. We had out ceremony with the Oaklands in 2012 and have to say it's become very dated since and really not worth 135 or even 95 our friends in the next room paid. The plug issue and lack or empathy were readdressed on checkout with the receptionist say her colleague was good at solving a problem, not great at customer services!
I stay there regularly and have always been treated as a valued customer. They always check whether I will be in time for dinner and if not would I like something put aside - with out prompting.
A family wedding that you even put on your fb “great food”. Do you mean cold food that 60% was left from guests. The cake was basically chucked on the table from the waitress not even handed out. Photos in the garden are beautiful but I'd like me your in a 🦽it's a nightmare as you either have to go out side door and all the way around outside to get to the gardens. But why can't we go in and out like everyone else. The disabled toilets are big but the baby changing unit was broke so can't lift it up out the way. And the door is very big and with no bar it becomes a nightmare to close once inside. So as far as I'm concerned this is a BIG NO for the ♿️
Under no circumstances stay at this hotel and DO NOT charge your car there. The EV points are a rip off with hidden hotel charges added on top. Our bathroom was dirty with someone's hair all over the place. Only had one hand towel! We we left with half used toiletries and the pillows are rock hard so unable to sleep. Room was very noisy and we were obviously not allowed tissues Food on the stairs when we arrived and still there when we left.
Room was fine, slept well, quiet location, excellent breakfast, got what I paid for but bit better than I expected
We had an enjoyable stay at the Oaklands, the food was amazing and the staff extremely friendly and welcoming. The room and price was excellent
Slept on a bed of springs. Reception not interested, but would log complaint. Did email a few days later regards issues raised however no reply to our emails. I must say I find that a good night's sleep is the most important part of booking a bed for the night.
Only stayed for one night but had a nice twin room. The hotel is beautiful and very tastefully decorated. We had a lovely meal in the evening and the food was really good. Between the four of us , we all had different meals and they were all very high quality. The staff were really friendly and accommodating too.
Friendly staff, great room and food, bathroom not too good, shower not working properly. Bath is not clean. Would stay here again, lovely location to stay very close to Cleethorpes,Grimsby docks, and town. Also close to old Waltham, which is really helpful for my stay
Stayed for a couple of nights whilst visiting the family who live in the area. We have stayed before but not since the refurbishment of the main areas.which have beautifully done. Staff were great, food was very nice we ate in here for breakfast, lunch and an evening meal.
Full marks to the Oaklands for putting on a first class New Years Eve Gala Dinner. They literally threw the kitchen sink at it and the whole evening was a delight. A glass of bubbly to start canapés, 5 course meal, party poppers, more bubbly @ midnight a cheese table a 5 piece band and a disco. The service was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble, and the icing on the cake £65 for a double room which included a full breakfast menu. Oaklands team take a bow you deserve it.
Booked Christmas dinner for four adults. Service spot on, plenty of attentive staff, crisp white linen, tables well spaced. Lovely calm, relaxed dining experience. The food was well cooked, tasty and very generous potions, clearly fresh not pre cooked veg cooked perfectly, no food left under a heat lamp here! It was a decent price for Christmas Day and what we received as an experience zooid and service far outweighed the price, no service charge , wine very reasonable price. Well done to all and thanks for a lovely afternoon and yes I would have no hesitation in booking again!
Great first impression of hotel - tastefully decorated for Christmas and greeted by the friendly and helpful manager. In fact over our whole stay all the staff were so pleasant and helpful. Our room was a good size, clean with a very comfortable bed. The restaurant had a varied menu and all the meals we ate over the two evenings varying from steak to fish were flavoursome and generous sized servings. Breakfasts were great too. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.
A very pleasant stay, staff very welcoming and the food was excellent. Hotel very well kept and clean. Gardens picturesque and full of wildlife. A relaxing peaceful stay - just what we were looking to find.
Attended a wedding at this venue and stayed overnight - feature room overlooking front of hotel - lovely quiet room - period features - loved the floor tiles in the bathroom. Only downsides was the shower which was very low pressure and wish we had found the fan which was in the wardrobe as it was the warmest night of the year
Nice little hotel. The family room was a good size but was very hot! There was an a/c unit, but despite having it set to the lowest temperature it barely blew any cold air out. It wasn't particularly hot outside (22 deg C) but the room was unbearably hot. The thermometer on the a/c control said it was 28 deg C at night. I asked for a fan for the first night but they didn't have any. Managed to get a fan for the second night and that helped slightly. Breakfast was ok. Nice quiet location. Beds were very comfortable and good Wi-Fi.
Warm welcome. Helpful staff. Good room. Felt safe. Good breakfast. Overall a good value stay and felt safe as a lone female. I was given a good room on the top floor with doors in between. Policy for some hotels for lone female guests and happy this was given to me. Felt trust in the staff. All very helpful and professional. Thankyou to all.
Went here for a wedding and had a great time! All staff was friendly and some even stayed to talk in the bar at 2am to make sure we was all accommodated. Special thanks to the staff that went further beyond and dry cleaned our wet clothes! Special thanks to these staff - Ben, Gemma, Caroline and Scott fabulous time. - from the natural gas talker lol. Ps the drinks are very pricy to prepare especially the doubles.
Hotel lovely, breakfast was very nice and quiet fast. Room nice. The reception lady not very welcoming! A little rude Was a little earlier and the room was not available at the time, but by 1 o'clock it was ready and she told us it wasn't! Had to change for the wedding in the toilets not nice. Very disappointing.
An excellent hotel with helpful staff. A well-conceived but not fussy menu in the restaurant oozing fresh ingredients - if I had to find something to criticise it would be that the main courses were too large!
a lovely place, fantastic hotel, very helpful staff on hand. set in lovely grounds and a great area for visiting all over Lincoln . the room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. its a win win
Stayed at the Oaklands for 2 nights with friends, friends wedding at Laceby Manir. Cannot fault anything… staff are amazing, customer service fantastic … everyone so helpful and courteous with that personal touch, nothing was too much, Barry even dried the wet chairs for us to sit out on the Saturday morning, thanks Barry!!!! Rooms are spacious and clean, evening meal and breakfast amazing… would definitely recommend and would stay again if ever in the area. 10/10
Excellent hotel, made outstanding by the staff and genuine customer service, which was first class. Would highly recommend and will definitely return. Nothing was too much trouble and the Hotel Manager was extremely helpful. Breakfast was delicious (best full-english ever!!) as were the evening meals. Long stay due to home repairs and the same high standards were displayed by all every day. A real gem.
Friendly and helpful staff. Huge car park. 15 mins (on a good day) from Grimsby. Room comfortable. Obviously set up for business, weddings etc. Warned that sometimes could be noisy though we did not experience this. Breakfast OK. Nice grounds to wander in. Ambience good.
Had an amazing day and night at my sons wedding at the Oaklands it was a perfect day. Thanks to Ben and the team at the Oaklands. Felt so welcoming and comfortable an amazing wedding. Thank you so much. Fantastic job to you all. Many thanks.
When to meet friends after Christmas drove up the drive and did not thing a lot but nice building was I wrong the staff 5 star and food very good ,and stay the night comfortable rooms and breakfast was great ,very good value for money but after say (the staff was good )and a lady that served our party of 12 was amazing we had a little lad with us and she made us day , so probably I would have said would not go back because lots hotel in England ,but having done Sunday and a stay , I would go back because the staff and food made a friend's birthday special very nice hotel the service and standard first class . Thank you
All the staff at the Oaklands hotel Grimsby were helpful and very professional in helping us arrange a Celebration of Life Event at their hotel. From reception to restaurant nothing was too much to ask about and helpful suggestion's to queries resolved any issues.
A very clean, tidy and welcoming Hotel. Very friendly and courteous staff. The rooms were very comfortable with the usual amenities. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in the Grimsby area.
We visit Grimsby to visit elderly relative and choose Oaklands hotel because, The staff are very good and friendly but also efficient and polite. We like the setting of the hotel and find the grounds and terrace a lovely place to relax. The bedrooms are very clean and well appointed and the public rooms are very good. Always a good breakfast and the evening meals are very good.
See review below! To repeat, we ll decided we would not visit again. Read my review in the ''Add tips'' section below, as I'm not duplicating what I've written. P.S. The resaurant used to be excellent, and the food was too, but sadly not any more. What a shame.
From the outside, the hotel looks amazing,, the feature rooms are brilliant, the fish and chips is amazing but that's it, it's a wedding venue if you wanted a romantic stay, go somewhere else. We went to the hotel, booked our room over a year ago, room was lovely but every night there was 1 or 2 weddings on and our room was above the venue, music thumped till way after midnight, don't expect to get any sleep, and managers were unhelpful, they know this can happen why are the rooms above the venue not reserved for the wedding parties. we were also told that breakfast is served from 6:30 am only to be told when we went down for breakfast round 8 that breakfast was a buffet and the buffet would only be ready at around 8:15 am. Some of the staff were so unhelpful. We were offered another room at the back of the wedding venue and another one up a stairway that stank like a kitchen, when we got back to the hotel after our day out, the other room had been handed to someone else who also complained about a stink in their room. We will not be staying there ever again.
The oaklands helped us organise our wedding in only 10days after they had a cancellation. Ben and Barry were very helpful in answering any questions we had and they helped us get it all arranged and ready with ease and attention. We had the best day and the buffet on the evening was fresh and delicious!!
Everything spot on, from check in to check out, professional friendly helpful staff, food and drink reasonably priced and good quality, portions just right. sleep quality down from excellent to very good due to the heatwave, nothing to do with the hotel or it's staff
Just back from an overnight stay at the Oaklands, and yet again an amazing time had, beautiful big room over looking the front of the hotel (RM 6….Stunning) gorgeous food for tea, new menu is delish, a huuuge full English brekkie that defeated us and set us massively up for the day, once again the manager Barry and his fab team well and truly looked after us. Simply perfect, highly highly recommend
Attended a wedding. So much effort by the staff to make it perfect. Lunch was absolutely great, extremely impressed with the food and the service. The night time buffet however was not so good! Cold, or near frozen and an hour late. Not good for the children. All in all it was a great day.
Stayed at the Oaklands Hotel Laceby whilst attending our friends wedding and have to say from arriving to checking out the next day our stay was a excellent one, friendly staff that couldn't do enough for you, service in bar area and during the reception was great, rooms were very clean and comfortable, overall a lovely place to stay, shout out also for the food ,quality ingredients pipping hot and presentation outstanding.
I had my wedding at oaklands. Ben and Barry went above and beyond to make the day and night amazing. Making sure everyone was happy. Food was outstanding! I couldnt have had a better day!! We was at ease and nothing was too much. Highly recommended a wedding here!
We stayed for 1 night in this lovely hotel, the room was spacious and comfortable, the staff were very warm and welcoming. The food from.the restaurant was delidlcioud Will definitely stay there again.
Attended a wedding. Quick and easy check in, room adequate for a three star although a little dusty in remote areas. (Not good for dust allergies.) Comfy bed and decent shower power. Wedding reception was a little slow with no organisation by the planner, guests were left wondering when things were going to happen ie speeches etc and taking so long that guests very hungry. Speeches first which the wedding party did not expect, although their speeches were beautiful and moving. Having to wait for reception meal for guests to be asked a table at a time, was draining especially for those with hungry children. Food disappointing, bun with meats, slaw and pasta. (not really child friendly )Trio of desserts, not eaten by many. Offered one glass of wine throughout reception. (3 hrs +) Staff asked guests to move while they made the room ready for the evening. Moving tables with their drinks still on. The evening buffet was much better with a great variety of buffet foods. Great evening, large dancefloor. Staff, however, always peeping out of doors to see if people were still eating buffet and when they got the chance cleared it all by 11pm. (even though there was food left). Great nights sleep. Went down for breakfast which was help yourself. We were told breakfast was served from 6.30am to 9.30am. The food was very disappointing. Sausages were really tough and generally the food was not hot. By the time you got back to your table it was verging on cold. Reception staff very welcoming and chatty.
A lovely hotel in beautiful gardens. Fantastic room that was clean and warm. The bed was so comfortable and everything I needed was there. The staff, from Scott on reception, to the bar staff and waitresses were attentive and helpful. It was a brilliant experience.
My partner and i stayed here overnight with an evening meal and breakfast the next morning. Hotel was in a nice quiet area and was nice and clean. Good amenities in the room, friendly staff and lovely food.
The customer service provided on entry was shocking. First of all greeted to a closed door at around 10pm after a long stressful journey, where I had to ring for entry. Staff eventually answered the door but made it feel I was an inconvenience to them. I was given my key, and then left to myself to find the room. No directions provided. The room provided was very bare and had a moldy smell. No curtains were provided on the windows, which resulted in an earlier than required wake up on the 2 nights I stayed. For breakfast I decided to use another location due to the service provided.
I have stayed at the Oaklands numerous times and will stay here every time I visit the area for one simple reason the hotel is outstanding…..everything about it, the hotel is lovely, warm and inviting, a beautiful building set in lovely relaxing well maintained grounds, the rooms are exactly what you want clean, well looked after and so comfortable, the food is lovely, the service at the bar and restaurant is fantastic in fact every member of staff I've ever come into contact with at the hotel is warm and friendly, I can't fault them. The General Manager Barry is brilliant nothing is to much trouble for him. It's quite easy to see why I go back to the Oaklands time after time, I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Quality on all fronts thankyou , Food service peaceful night s sleep and great staff ,would definately recommend and use again in the future,Location was great for our needs nothing seemed to much trouble for the staff
My sons wedding was held here and everything was perfect. Lovely staff, nothing was too much trouble. The room was spotless with a comfy bed and lots of hot water. Late check out was no problem. Special mention for Ben, Gemma and Caroline who were so kind and accommodating. Thank you for making our stay and my sons wedding day so special.
First time visit for a xmas party night and Rocket man (Elton John) . Lovely room and the xmas meal was very good and the rocket man was outstanding . Nice staff and the breakfast was very nice also . Everybody seemed to be enjoying them selves at the party , few sore heads this morning !!! Would definitely return and many thanks to all staff
perfect place for a peaceful get away, the room was spotless, friendly staff, awesome food will be returning in the near future, so close to shopping in grimsby, and so close to lovely beach at cleethorpes
We have just come back from an overnight stay and found it to be very enjoyable. We had a buy a gift voucher which we used. The room we had was large, very clean and well stocked with amenities. We had a corner bath as well as a shower, copious amounts of hot water and dressing gowns. It also had a large wardrobe with a hair dryer, ironing board and fan inside. The hospitality tray was well stocked with a good selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The bed was large and comfortable with a beautiful view of woodland from the window. The main hotel has character which is reflected in the public area and the room we were in. Staff were great and could not do enough for you and would happily stay again
Well managed, quiet country hotel with excellent parking and lovely views. Very good food, freshly cooked breakfast to order. Easy access to Cleethorpes and other Lincolnshire coastal towns. Hotel was very clean and well maintained. Recommended.
An old style hotel but well managed, well maintained & staffed by a very pleasant team. The rooms were a good size, clean & tidy, a little bit ‘squeaky floor boards' but comfortable. The restaurant was informal with a limited menu but the quality of the food was very good.
Recently stayed for 2 nights. Upon arrival greeted by a member of staff who essentially just gave a key and sent us on our way-very unwelcoming I had to ask about breakfast times/where out room actually was. Mattress was unbearably uncomfortable. Shower didn't get hot. Very very dated decor. Room didn't get cleaned/fresh bedding and towels.Grime in shower. To make things worse on both mornings we were awaken approximately 0630 with people talking outside the room in the corridor- assume this is due to thin walls etc? Checking out I would have addressed the above problems but the member of staff didn't even ask if how our stay was. Great reputation but needs a serious overhaul in my very honest opinion.
Booked via their own website to include Dinner, Room and Breakfast. Was supposed to be on a pay-at-booking basis for discount. Didn't take payment until after we left the hotel. Double charged for dinner. This was refunded after a phone call to the hotel. No one on the reception desk to check out so I didn't get a bill at the time. The rooms are rather dated, not overly clean and secured by an old barrel lock. There is no way of cooling the room down so stuck trying to sleep in a room which was 24 degrees. The part of the restaurant utilised when not busy is basically the through route from reception to the bedrooms, so very busy and people with cases passing every few seconds. Not overly impressed. To be honest I would rather stay at Holiday Inn or Premier Inn in town in future.
Our stay at this lovely old hotel is always enjoyable. The staff are always helpful and friendly and go out of there way to sort anything out. The meals are excellent. I think we had the added bonus of a September heatwave.
So my husband booked a room with evening meal and breakfast included. When he arrived he. Liked a table for us to eat at 7:30pm. We came down from our room at 7:15 and ordered a drink. We mention we had a table booked for 7:30pm and do we drink our drinks just outside the ‘restaurant' or do they want us sat at our table. We was told to just go and choose a table if there is any left and sit where we want!!! So we go through to the area that they call the restaurant and find ourselves a table! We ask for a wine menu! That took 1hr 30 mins to arrive!! We could see/hear other people getting fed up with the wait for food and got the impression the wedding that they had on was far more important to them along with the 2 footballers that took up the attention of the female staff than the 5/6 groups in the ‘restaurant' for meals! So we waited just shy of 2 hrs for our starters and then another 45 after starters for our mains! Now don't get me wrong, the food was really nice when it did finally arrive, although it could have been a little bit warmer. One group had to send 1 meal of their groups back as it wasn't cooked and we noticed that the the other people in that particular group had finished their meals and had sat waiting quite sometime before the meal that they had returned came back out. The group next to us had asked for the manager and instead he sent some young lad to deal with their complaint! My husband did grab the manager (I had returned to our room by then as the night for our 10th anniversary was ruined) and he put all the blame on his young staff! We are currently sat in our room waiting for our breakfast that we ordered to be delivered half an hour ago and if I'm honest I don't hold out any hope of it arriving to our room anytime soon! Will never stay here again!!!
Stayed her on Friday night after bein let down by 2 other places. Well we should have booked Oaklands Hall first. The room was first rate and the WiFi was very effective. The breakfast was a little expensive at a little over £13 per person. But overall the hotel was excellent and nothing was too much for the staff. Any request was met by an almost immediate response. Would definitely stay again
Great location. Beautiful surroundings. Went to a wedding which was a Perfect setting. The Staff were excellent, with great customer service and professionalism. The hotel was very clean and tidy , rooms very well decorated.
Booked our room 2 yrs ago. Family wedding. Got here today for wedding 12.30 tomorrow. Room booked was disabled as husband has advanced complex parkinsons. No disabled room. But we can let you have it tomorrow morning when they check out at 11am. Sorry we have a wedding at 12.30. Do you know we are just coming out of a pandemic. When are you going to clean room for him to have a shower or do you want me to shower him before you clean room (don't think so) I could understand if it was a last min thing But this had been changed recently was told it had been changed They were quick enough at taking payment before they give you keys. Not impressed one bit.
On arrival the hall is found up a short driveway conveniently just after the roundabout at Laceby. The picturesque setting is admirable.Friendly staff meet you at the check in desk and ask you if you have any requirements. The superior room I stayed in was superb, large bed, large corner bath and all the usual mod cons.Breakfast was included and very tasty.overall BRILLIANT.
I was given room 5 in the main building. The first thing I noticed was a terrible stench coming from the bathroom (which explains why the room window was wide open!) There was definitely a leak of some sorts from the toilet bowl and several flies in the room. The room itself was tired and not particularly clean with plenty of cobwebs, the bathroom sink was cracked and the shower head didn't function, a couple of lights didn't work and the long life milk was so old it had curdled! What really upset me was that the room never got made up and apparently on checking out that was my fault for not filling in a form to ask for the room to be made up! The form I was told was on the bed - it wasn't! I expected some form of recompense but the receptionist was not in the slightest apologetic. Needless to say, I will not be returning.
Lovely clean room in main building with air conditioning. Room service remains an option due to Covid 19. Food plentiful and well cooked for both breakfast and dinner. Room had desk and chair. Internet was very efficient. Toiletries and big fluffy towels.
This hotel is on outskirts of Grimsby, but in lovely grounds. However in need of a bit of TLC. Did find that due to present circumstances that breakfast at weekends starts at 6-30am and finishes at 9-30am far to early start and finish for weekends.
We had the pleasure of attending our friends wedding. From the manager down to the chamber maids they couldn't of been nicer. I was unfortunate to fall ill during my stay and they couldn't of been more helpful making sure we had everything we needed. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Will definitely stay again.
Lucky to find this gem and have returned for my third visit. Comfortable rooms, great location, ambience and I have found the staff to be fantastic. In response to the negative comment regarding a wife who wasn't white English, well I'm mixed race English, pretty dark actually, and haven't had a haircut since lockdown and look quite a sight. The staff have been welcoming and I cannot fault them.
We have just had 2 nights at Oakland's having travelled from Somerset to Grimsby for a funeral. The staff were fantastic and very kind. The food was amazing and we had a thoroughly lovely stay despite the sad circumstances. Thank you. Angie Joy
Poor service in the bar and dining area.... fuelled we believe because my wife's no white English... We were offered a small table in the corner of a totally empty dining room and were made to feel uncomfortable for the duration...I am afraid that we will never return
Little problem in first room staff were very friendly & efficient moved to another beautiful suite . Felt very secure with the covid procedures in place. Many thanks to Barry the manager & the team doing a marvellous job in these unprecedented times.
I booked 2 executive rooms at this hotel on 20 July just for one night. The hotel is in a beautiful setting in the Lincolnshire countryside, the rooms were spacious, well equipped and modern with excellent decor. The staff were all really helpful and friendly. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely book again. Highly recommend this hotel.
On 2 occasions over a 10 day period, 9 of the family stayed, had breakfast and evening meals and the Celebration of Life for our Mum, Grandma and Great-Grandma's passing away and reception. The reason we chose to come back for the latter was because of my 2 sisters and brother-in-law were so pleased with everything about the hotel on the first occasion. Location was perfect for our needs but more important was how we were treated on what was an incredibly sad and difficult occasion for all of us. The staff were compassionate, empathetic, professional and very aware of our fluctuating moods from real distress to almost hysterical comedy. They served us good food with warmth and humour, found us quiet corners away from everyone else when needed, opening up spaces within the hotel for us. They simply managed changing numbers with no fuss and ensured there was plenty of food for all at the reception, at a reasonable price. They split bills for us, moved chairs and tables around - nothing was too much trouble. I can't rate these lovely people highly enough.
Stayed here due to the pandemic as it was open to key workers staff where pleasant and always happy to help food was good as well, Rooms where good and there is also a bar would stay here again no problem
Oaklands has stayed open for key workers but has kept standards very high. The staff are friendly and very, very efficient. The Comfy Duck chefs are serving top notch meals to hungry workers. I have felt very welcome at a difficult time - thank you all.
We needed short notice accommodation and the staff not only sorted out our needs but continued to support us through our stay. Extremely welcoming and accommodating with a can do approach from all the staff. Would love to stay again under different circumstances.
We had a really lovely couple of days and nights here this week ( March ) . We had booked a ground for room with easy access and wet room . Plenty of space , well kitted out with emergency cord pulls , shower stool , loads of grab rails and good height sink . The beds were really comfortable. We asked for extra pillows only because I have a heart problem and need to sleep nearly sitting . What made it so nice was the staff , every single member of staff were friendly , asked us how our visit was going , gave lots of suggestion of routes . The breakfasts , there was extensive continental buffet which even had pikelets to toast , I was in seventh heaven . The fresh fruit salad and array of nuts dried fruit and chocolate drops to creat your own granola a delight . There was also an extensive cooked breakfast menu , looked excellent what we saw but we really decided the buffet was so good we didn't need anything Cooked. Their coffee by stokes of Lincoln was really smooth , and a good choice of fruit tissans . The bar did not charge the usual high I gotta expensive rates so we enjoyed nightcap talking to the staff . We didn't try the restaurant as visiting a friend with a passion for cooking . We walked around the grounds and enjoyed the spring flowers . There is lots of local road works both to the a18 and the little road to the hotel off the roundabout , signposts are everywhere to help find our way , the sat nav did get a bit stroppy . It seems the work men are using part of the hotel car park but no parking issues . Only thing I did think of , I don't need a wheelchair and can manage 6 stairs up to the main hotel but I can only think the ramp was into reception from outside not directly from the corridor . There is a convenient side entrance but it could do with a blue parking bay being nearer that door . The excellent room outweighed for me the few stairs . Yes we would visit again a really enjoyable visit .
I received a gift voucher for a hotel room for the night and used this here. The room was tiny, we could hear EVERYTHING unpairs, including someone turning in their bed and going to the toilet in the night. It was just horrible. I'd asked for a quiet room, knowing it was a place where events often took place, but the pacing and noice from the corridor and upstairs meant it didn't really matter if there was an event on or not. The cleaner even started hovering outside our room at 8am! Not good. I'm glad there wasn't an event too, as I'd have had no sleep at all. Although the bed was OK, the pillows were extremely hard, the light was either on or off, which is a pain when travelling with my child, who wanted to sleep but I wasn't ready to sleep at 8pm. So I sat in the dark. The fan in the bathroom couldn't have been louder, so I couldn't just get some light from the bathroom. I could even hear next doors/upstairs fan too. The staff were nice, or I'd have given 1 star. Breakfast limited but OK, glad that was included as would have been disappointed with what it was for the price advertised. Cleanliness; the bathroom wasn't clean. The were awful brown stains on the basin, god knows what they were. Didn't use the shower but the bath was OK. Stains on the carpet and wallpaper scuffed. Just tatty really. But as I said, I'm glad I didn't pay. I wouldn't stay again if a had another voucher though and I certainly wouldn't pay to return.
Visited the hotel for the weekend for a friends wedding and stayed over, the rooms are lovely and clean, we booked a table in the restaurant the comfy duck on the Friday night, food was amazing !!, the wedding venue was beautiful and the food and service was absolutely amazing, big thanks to amber you was great all weekend, will definitely be recommending you, thanks Sallie
Stayed overnight for a works Christmas Party. Executive Double room was fine, a good size and generally clean, except for a stain on the carpet, but room was cold on arrival. We were told that heating was on a timer and as it was it didnt come on until around 1600 hrs. Bed was very big and comfy and corner bath was nice with very hot water. Party night was OK but much of the food appeared to have been prepared and left out before serving. Service between courses was quite slow and biscuits with the cheese and biscuits were soft. They had a tribute act on the night we attended but saw nothing at all of it due to the layout of the room and several tables being behind walls / pillars. Unless you got up and went and stood in another area you could see nothing of the act at all. Overall atmosphere was good, bar service was Ok and disco was good. Not the worst I have been too but not the best either.
The Manager and staff saved our Christmas! After a major mix up (not their fault, I'd booked the wrong venue) They did everything they could to get us in at their sold out Christmas party on 21st December. They managed to accommodate 20 of us for 3 course meal and let us join the entertainment. I can't remember all their names but the Manager and every member of staff we dealt with were excellent and helped make sure we all had a fantastic night. The food was excellent also. Thank you everyone for rescuing our Christmas work party!
Room on the small size, basic, but bed comfy, TV and Wifi great, food pretty good, breakfast not bad either and the staff are friendly and helpful. You can hear noise from adjacent rooms, but I was lucky enough to have considerate neighbours. What really lets the hotel down is the shower, barely enough pressure to actually wash the suds off you! Really not good enough to warrant me staying here again I'm afraid.
My husband and I stayed her for our wedding anniversary. The room was great and all staff fantastic . Can't thank the team enough. The food in restaurant was brilliant quality and breakfast was great too.
This hotel is tucked away from the main roads - a nice quiet spot. The building is pretty grand and well maintained with plenty of parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was really excellent - worth paying a bit extra for. My room was clean with comfortable bed etc. I will definitely stay here again next time I am up this way for business.
Hotel is clean. Rooms are small but adequate for 1 or 2 night stay. Staff are polite. Breakfast was poor. They serve breakfast between 8 an 10 on a Saturday by 8.30 coffee machine broken therefore no hot drinks. Cooked breakfast buffet area was empty no plates no pastries. Waitresses running around like headless chickens trying their best no support from management. It was a very poor show.
We married 24/10/19 Ben and his team where amazing everything possible was done for us everything tan smoothly the food was exceptional we had the most incredible day our guests where taken care of too our room was clean and comfortable loved every single minute we spent their.
We got married yesterday in the garden room and I genuinely am lost for words at how amazing everything was. The food was divine, the service and organisation offered by the team was world class, the staff are polite, kind and efficient. Ben, the Meetings and Events Coordinator and master of ceremonies was faultless, he was amazing with all the kids, especially our son, he is an absolute credit to this hotel. We stayed in the one of the fancy suites which awesome and the breakfast was delicious! We cannot recommend this place highly enough
I could not fault my 3 night stay at the Best Western Oaklands Hall Hotel. Pleasant staff, reasonable prices, well presented enjoyable food. The room was very comfortable clean and had all I wanted. All in all for the price of a room only stay compared favourably with Hotels I have stayed in that have charged me a lot more for a lot less. On a final note: Their wedding package looks very attractive for the price they offer and what you get but my stay was not for a wedding at this Hotel I can only comment for the people I spoke to who were theri for their weddding.
A group of us (30) went to this Hotel for a celebration dinner. The food was terrible onion soup which was burnt and tart and main courses which were dry and tasteless . When we complained we were told as we didn't say anything to the waiter the Hotel were not willing to refund any of the several hundred £s we spent with them ; also the way the complaint was handled was not courteous
2 night stay with family enjoying pre wedding celebrations and wedding day the following day for my nieces wedding. Lovely weekend in a beautiful hotel with gorgeous grounds Attentive staff who helped the weekend go smoothly so we could fully enjoy the celebrations. Thankyou
Great location, easy to find yet surrounded by lovely grounds. Parking ample. Warm welcome. Room exceeded expectations. Large, well appointed and spotlessly clean. Well equipped and comfortable. Enjoyed dinner in The Comfy Duck. Breakfast was good, lots of choice and good quality. Overall we were very pleased with the stay and would happily stay there again. We were on motorbikes and the parking is flat, level tarmac. Thank you Oaklands Hall.
Came as a group of wedding guests and best Western was near wedding so perfect for all, food was okay but more vegan food would be a bonus, rooms clean and staff very pleasant. Grounds hotel set in lovely
This is a really smart hotel in my opinion, very clean with a good number of staff it seemed to deal with you, which can be rare. Our room was lovely even though we only stayed one night & the food at the wedding we were guests at was fantastic.
Just held a celebration dinner in a private room. Firstly we had drinks and canapés on the terrace then dinner. The planning with Barry was a breeze nothing was too much trouble . On the night the food and service was great, so thank you to all involved would definitely recommend.
Arrived on the Friday evening, my daughter and wife twin room *1. Quick word with Becky and Chloe and they facilitated a quick sort, *5 service from them, complaint turned into commendation! Thank You
We had a room in the main old building. Large room with large bath and bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities (no green tea but provided when asked) Comfy bed Fan in room. Staff friendly. Water bottle refreshed every day. Very clean. Food delicious
There was no lift to the 2nd floor so travel light if you are staying here. The carpets on the stairs and corridors where grubby and needed a Hoover. Rooms were clean but would benefit from redecoration. A/C available in rooms which was nice in the hot weather. Breakfast was ok. £90 per night was steep for this hotel.
Beautiful Picturesque Hotel - I visited as a guest at my friend's wedding. I would highly recommend the service and stay here. They provided Vegan options very well and the staff were very helpful and efficient.
I want to share with you my experiance at the Oaklands just outside Grimsby, the Oaklands is a country retreat set in parklands. We use this as our business hub, great facilities, with a touch of class for a sensible price. We have stayed in many of the hotels in the Grimsby area, in my view the Oaklands is the best, great service and a good night sleep, the food is excellent,
Both venues were excellent. I would definitely recommend the hotel and the restaurant. My family always stay here when visiting us in Grimsby. We also had one of my birthday celebrations there. We classify this as one of our favourite hotel.
Very dated hotel that appears to reply heavily on the wedding and event income and neglects the customer service aspect of hotel management. Staff at reception looking for excuses to say "sorry i cant I that" when asking for anything such as an early check in or even a room to get changed into before an off site wedding. Felt like I was interrupting the reception staff at check out time who immediately went back to the conversation I interrupted after mechanically saying "have a nice day". Would not return here unless there was no other option.
I've stayed here on a couple of separate occasions now, once for a wedding a 20 odd years ago and more recently for a family shindig and it proved to be a great base when attending any such kind of events in Grimsby and the Humberside area. It was very good value for money, we were staying in the original part of the building and the rooms were large, spacious and comfortable. The in laws were however staying in the newer annex where space was at more of a premium but they were battered beyond the point of caring from the days earlier frivolities and free bar. The hotel is located out in the countryside and the grounds of the hotel are pretty stunning. The breakfast was also quality, our toddler was still in the process of getting to grips with feeding himself and couldn't get enough of pastries and muffins which maybe wasn't the best parenting.
Staff were nice, friendly and quite professional. We had no choice in hotel as the others were a taxi ride away and therefore this was the only option available. When we went to check out we noticed that clean bed linen was on the floor of the corridors and every fire door was propped open! We remarked to the person dealing with our checking out process that the fire doors were all propped open and she remarked that the person leaning the are did not normally do that. I remarked that as every fire door was propped open with wedges, it was very hard to believe that this was one off event, I less of course she hOpe ed to have 7or 8 wedges that she had stumbled upon. I also mentioned that the fresh linen on the corridor floor did nothing for my opinion of their hygiene and cleanliness regime. I have to say that the carpets in the function room in the main block was quite baggy and rouched up as was the carpet on the stairs landing which is a bit of an accident waiting to happen.
We had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Oakland's Hotel set on the edge of the national park it gave easy access to the Lincolnshire countryside. The staff were attentive and friendly, the food was exceptional, really exceptional. The room was spacious and well appointed and overlooked the well maintained gardens.
Nice surroundings and lovely building, room was awesome, very modern and funky styling, I loved it. Bar and dining experience was great, the food I ordered which was Sea Trout, with Jersey royal potatoes, samphire & spinach was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection by the chef. Sometime hotel meals can be a tad overpriced, here my meal was like top notch restaurant quality at excellent value prices. The room was very relaxing and bed comfy. Breakfast was very good and perfectly cooked, although the baked beans were dried out. Overall a very good hotel and very pleasant stay.
The staff were great, we understand this hotel has events but on arrival were told your room is far back so you will be away from the noise, but this was not the case. The noise was quite loud until 11.30, we managed to get out young children to sleep but then the fire alarm went off a few times waking them up and scaring them. There was a prom on and on arrival we couldn't get into the car park. There was about 300 people all stood outside watching their children arrived. We could maybe have been made aware of this and could have come before or after this was happening.
Overall we enjoyed our stay the food in the restaurant was good although a bit on the expensive side but we were on a deal so didn't work out too bad cost wise. When we checked in we were advised that there was a prom happening that night, had we been informed of this we might not have booked
I was unable to book in to my normal hotel in the area so decided on this place for the first time. I was not disappointed. From the seamless check-in to the restaurant staff I couldn't fault anyone. Room was extremely comfortable and had everything I needed. Food was plentiful and tasty as too was my breakfast the following morning. Thanks for everything.
Booked a double room as we were attending a wedding nearby. Were told in advance that an early check in shouldn't be a problem however my partner experienced very rude and unhelpful staff at reception who did not want to assist in accommodating him. The room we were given I'm very surprised is a double - the bed was tiny compared to most double rooms at hotels and we were only given one towel so wouldn't be surprised if they gave us a single room. As we didn't return till approximately 1am it was not practical to check if this was the case with reception as we did not want to change rooms at that time of night. For the price you pay here the room was below average and could definitely do with a refurb. Unfortunately will not be returning or recommending.
What a perfect wedding we had... A huge thank you the Ben and JJ who made both the planning and the day forum like clock work. We couldn't of asked for a better day and the weather was a bonus. Food throughout our stay was amazing - all guests stayed in the hotel and had no complaints on their accommodation. The Garden room was perfect for an intimate wedding with the gardens being amazing for the children to have a run around. Beautiful grounds and views. Only small downside was one of the chairs we hired was broken sometime after the wedding to when they were picked up which incurred us a small charge.
Beautiful setting, efficient staff and service. Room beautiful and spotless. Dinner in the comfy duck superb. Breakfast spot on, and went so smoothly due to Chirs Dearing. Stayed before and will be back. Keep up the work .
Lovely hotel in nice grounds, very quiet and peaceful. The food I had for dinner and breakfast was great. The staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. I will definitely go back again and would highly recommend it.
I was brought up in Grimsby and we held our wedding reception at the Oaklands 45 years ago, so when we required a hotel for 2 nights, we were keen to see what the Oaklands could offer. We wanted a big bed so we booked a family room for little more than a double. The room was spacious, quiet and had a lovely view of the garden. All the staff were locals and so friendly and efficient. Breakfasts were excellent and freshly cooked. We also enjoyed a meal in The Comfy Duck one evening. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Oaklands.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, all the staff couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was the most enjoyable as possible. All the staff we came into contact with were pleasant and most helpful and carried out their jobs efficiently and always with a smile.
From start to finish, JJ and his team managed the event so professionally and ensured the whole evening went totally to plan and was so very much enjoyed! Nothing was too much trouble for JJ and we would like to commend him for his help to make the evening a memorable one! The food was fabulous and the dinner was timed to perfection. Thank you!
Held a family function here , which was rudely interupted by one of the guests being temporarily hospitalised (nothing to do with the hotel) This left a question mark over number of attendees and arrival times, which kept changing as hospital circumstance changed. Eventually all guests that were attending arrived and the function commenced about an hour later than agreed. The staff were not perturbed and everything was served fresh. Our room was very nice , and the breakfast was of good quality , I had one of the best eggs benedicts I have had in a long time
We stayed one evening for a friends wedding reception. The hotel & the grounds itself are lovely. The staff were very helpful. Our room was great, plenty of room with a big bed, soft pillows and on the ground floor. The only issues we had was that the drink making facilities were hid away in the cupboard, if it wasn't for my partner we wouldn't have known they were there. My other only discrepancy was the prices of the drinks. £5.00 for a glass of house wine, i pay pretty much that for a whole bottle at home. Other than that we had a pleasant stay.
Promised everything but delivered nothing other than a very small room. The staff weren't interested in serving, preferring to gossip to each and were confidently not doing anything that they were supposed to. It took 25 minutes to check in, 5 minutes to find the room (there are lots of corridors) and the rooms whilst ok were very small but not very clean.
This nice hotel was very comfortable, especially after a long drive. The room was furnished and decorated in a modern style and was equipped for our three night stay. Once again, it's a shame to find the training for restaurant staff was lacking and to us they appeared amateurish in their manner and the way in which they completed their tasks.
We were at a wedding everything ran smoothly. All staff were very attentive and if you asked for anything they got it quickly and helped with a smile nothing was too much for them. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
pressured to order at meal times, did not listen to us when we told them what time we wished to eat... Short measured on beer, asked for a full glass still short and at over £4 per pint felt ripped off. No lift. room cramped could not sit on loo. No tea in the room , limited milk. Staff unhelpful disinterested
stayed here to treat wife for mothers day as kids have flown the nest, nice hotel, easily found on edge of laceby. nice reception and public areas ,plenty of seating. efficient check in.room nicely furnished and decorated, everything worked. pleasant restaurant and bar area fast efficient service by pleasant staff, only let down was the absence of the complete menu, only a sunday lunch menu , but choices made were still very good.
My Daughter had her wedding at the Hotel. Most of the guest stayed in a variety of the rooms. Our room was an executive room and came with a huge kingsize bed and a lovely large corner bath. The water was red hot no matter what time of the day or night that you ran it. The room where my Daughters Wedding was held was transformed a couple of times throughout the day and evening. Was made to look stunning each time it was changed. The staff are very friendly and cheerful and the food was lovely. Very well laid out and good selection of continental breakfast as well as a good cooked breakfast selection. So if you are ever in the area then it is worth staying at for either business or pleasure.
What an absolute shambles. The maitre d' couldn't articulate menu choices and avoided eye contact so we didn't know who he was speaking to. One of the waitresses didn't know what the soup of the day was. The Thai curry tasted like spicy chicken soup. The fish and chips was served without peas. I ordered the Caesar salad with what seemed like a whole tin of anchovies in it! Sadly, at no point were we asked "how is your meal?" Even when partly filled plates were removed from the table. And when we were asked if we would like to see the desert menu and we said no thanks - we are not full, thanks for asking but the food was awful...the complaint wasn't even acknowledged. Mothers day meal ruined. Thanks Comfy Duck.
This hotel is on the out skirts of Grimsby set well back from the main road. It's a quite place with friendly staff who are always ready to help. For is good a covers a wide range. Rooms are large and well maintained
Saff were amazing room was faboulus food lovely, our wedding coordinator absolutely Outstanding, his name is Ben , what an amazing guy , personality , great , easy going , took a whole load of stress off me, so calm throughout our wedding, all Saff involved were always couteous and all off them including Ben kept asking if everything was ok, I say ok? Everything was spot on thankyou for making our day as special as it ever could have been Mr & Mrs Copley, we intend to return every anniversary for stay or at very least anniversary dinners thankyou again x
Stayed at the hotel after a meal at the comfy duck. The room was large and spacious. The breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice. The hotel itself is an impressive building in picturesque surroundings. The only negative would be the shower which was not the warmest or powerfulest
I ate in the Hotel and stayed one night Prawn cocktail starter consisted of frozen prawns with supermarket taste. No seafood sauce, instead a concoction of hot chillies and not sure what else was in it. Main course of fish and chips with mushy peas. Again frozen fish but with hard batter. Chips and peas no better. Best part of the meal was reading the newspaper the meal came on. I thought Grimsby was the place to eat fish. Not here, don't waste your money. Room 16 is very dated and very noisy with big fans roaring outside the window. Heating did work a treat. Staff on front desk not very friendly. She forgot to ask if I would prefer my loyalty points or a complimentary drink as a best Western Diamond Select Rewards member. I was told there were no complimentary room upgrades even though the website has rooms available. Tut tut someone couldn't be bothered to check. Not at all impressed with this hotel.
I stayed at the hotels for about 4 night.. The open space around the hotel is great.. has a big open parking (photo). The building is old so you would expect not a perfect noise isolation. So you could literally hear the footsteps at night and early morning. You could also hear people speaking on phones so I did my best to keep the TV volume down as much as I can and do my late meetings in the lobby. But again, you would expect this to be a normal thing and I guess if you want to look at positively given the rural place and old building it should be normal. The good side for people with no cars is that there is a gas station with a supermarket, coffee shop, subway which is really well equipped.. and it's about 7-10 mins walk down the road. The only transportation available is via Taxi call and the hotel can book this for you. There is also taxi company cards all over the place. The best side of the hotel are two things.. the food where the comfy duck is apparently famous in the area.. amazing, wide range, and delicious food. And the garden but no use for it during winter times.. The room is a mid-small size room which is ok and serve the purpose. The breakfast is average nothing special. The staff most of which are friendly. The reception are very accommodative. The best of them are the younger male generation. And there were a lady who is super. They have a lounge where you could meet in privacy but it's not well equipped and the chairs are really bad. The housing keeper - God bless her heart- is a wonderful woman, and very professional at what she does. Please Don't forget to smile at her face all the time.. I hope I covered everything.. you're welcome to ask any questions.. It's actually should be 3 star rating but all in all it's 3.5 which I'll round to 4 coz of the food, areas and some of the positives.
The Highs,Had a beautiful meal on New Years Eve albeit without the Petit Fours that should have come with the coffee but we were full anyway. The low was having no hot water in either of the rooms we booked, it was tepid when we rang reception we were told that the hotel was busy and many people had used all the hot water before we arrived and to give it half an hour. gave it an hour but still tepid and then to step out of the shower to only find my wife had used the only towel in the room . At a 125 quid a night expected better,
Lease be advised if you are looking to book for your Xmas dinner next year, do not be drawn into the fact Danta will visit your children whilst your dining as we were, we were booked at the earlier sitting of 12.45pm with 4 excited children eager to see Santa. We were fairly rushed through lunch which was ‘adequate ‘ it's a over priced carvery to be kind, food fairly bland (mass produced) but my biggest disappointment was Santa not showing .. they apparently had a last minute no show from the guy they had booked so someone stepped in but failed miserably to come to our table whilst we were there .. they know what tables kids are sat on and what time they are eating .. but no apparently he rolled up at 3.30 once he'd finished doing the ‘carvery' ... sorry not good enough when you've spent £600 on eleven meals and have children expecting to see Santa ... this apparently happened the year before too .. Maybe there's a pattern developing here.. next year we won't bother with Oakland's as although xmas lunch is vastly overpriced and overrated in most places this I felt was just too poor and they draw you in with false promises.. I left explaining to 4 kids Santa must be still busy .. managing seem disinterested to say the least and offered absolutely no gesture of anything to try and make amends .. one to avoid
Fabulous setting service and meal. The place is beautiful well laid out and beautifully decorated. The Xmas trees are a wonder. Food was amazing although I have never had a prawn cocktail served on a plate before it was very nice. The staff were very friendly and full of smiles. The whole evening was spectacular thank you for looking after us. API table x
Friendly staff good service and food was very good on arrival checking was quick and efficient. Room was clean and tidy. Good selection of tea's and coffee in the room. Booked table for dinner at check in when I went down to dinner was greeted by name which added to the friendly atmosphere.
Had been told the food was very good here so thought we would try. The menu sounded fantastic, however the food that arrived was disappointing for an expensive price, the service was also slow to say there was only 2 other tables eating.
Darren and Ben would like to thank Kerry and Ben for there great hard work we got married here on 10th november and couldn't of picked a better venue that was held in the garden room all the staff were great especially Ben whom went above and beyond to look after us.altho the hotel is a great wedding venue I do think the garden room needs a little tlc a brush of paint perhaps as some of the walls were scratched and marked.the food was fantastic altho had an issue with the custard but Ben apologised and gave us complementary wine would decently recommend this as a wedding venue and we will both be back to try out the comfy duck restraint kind regards Darren and ben
This was a pleasant suprise especially the restaurant that I will review separately it was booked due to being close to where my daughter was staying with guides. The hotel has some lovely original features but has been slightly butchered in parts shame more original features aren't on display. The hotel room was a family room one double one single clean and what you would expect for the price it had a lovely view of the garden. Breakfast was simple but very nice but no meal substitute for vegetarians although I didn't ask so maybe they do? Overall a good stay and I would go again if in the area
We booked in for a 1 night stay. Hotel staff all very helpful restaurant & bar good however we were woken at midnight by noisy guests returning to there room. I phoned reception at 12.40am & someone did knock & ask them to quieten down however after 10 mins it started again & moved to the room above us where it continued until 2.40am at that point we both were tired & annoyed. Apparently they were wedding guests. Do not book this hotel when a wedding party being held unless you want No sleep!
We held our wedding at the Oakland's Best Western on Saturday, words can't easily describe how grateful we are for a perfect weekend. From the many months of preparation, through our arrival on the Friday to leaving on Sunday morning, every member of staff throughout the venue in every capacity and role has been professional, warm, helpful, courteous and accommodating, not only to my wife and I but to all our guests too. The whole experience was wonderful, the hotel, the Garden Room setting for the wedding, the grounds, the superb and seamless organisation throughout the day, and of course the amazing staff were second to none. Our day was incredible in every way, echoed by the many fabulous and complimentary comments from all our friends and family. Thank you all for making our wedding so very special, from Richard and Karen Green. Xx
I came for my Nephews wedding and i was really happy with all that best western had to offer clean, tidy with friendly staff and a comfy bed what more could you ask, oh yes and with a great breakfast as well
We stayed here with other members of the family to attend a funeral I had booked via hotel itself because I had questions I needed answering. The others booked through a booking site and paid half what we did for superior accommodation. Bit annoying. We were informed we should have discussed this on our arrival, but we arrived not long before midnight after a 260 mile drive and there was only the night porter on duty so it didn't occur to us. Having said this, we found the facilities were very adequate and relatively clean. The decor was a little tired and our room's carpet had obviously had a hot iron dropped onto it twice as there were scorch marks! Hiding the second set of towels is a funny idea, as unless you've read the information pack thoroughly you would have no idea where it was. This caught various people out who had to travel to reception to request more. Not the best plan to my mind The dining area was very nice and the breakfasts were pretty good. The Continental was a little lacking and only had tiny sized pastries which was a bit odd. The glasses of fruit cocktail were absolutely wonderful and refreshing and delicious. A very good variety of fruits used. Did not think much of being in the annexe and then when we wanted to go to the dining area had to walk outside to gain access as the internal doors had been firmly shut! I wasn't expecting 5* accommodation. Didn't get it but what we did get was more than adequate and we would stay there again (using an offer this time)
The hotel is beautiful with its surroundings. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and very relaxing. The view from the room into the garden was beautiful. Will definitely be going back.
Have just returned from my sons wedding at Oaklands and it was fantastic. Venue, food and whole reception was perfect. Absolutely nothing to complain about. The staff were great and a special call out to Ben who is fantastic at his job. He goes above and beyond to make it perfect. Guests filled hotel overnight, rooms very good and lovely breakfast. Would highly recommend this hotel for wedding venue as you cannot fault it. Thanks Ben and all the staff for making it the perfect wedding.
My daughter and now son in law chose this hotel for their wedding and it was absolutely perfect in every way and would highly recommend this venue. I cannot think of one fault - all staff were welcoming and accommodated all of our needs without hesitation. Very nice meal the evening before, very calming environment on the morning of the wedding and the wedding itself well - brilliant ! The room was perfect, food was fantastic, bar service efficient followed by a great nights sleep in very clean, comfortable rooms. Ben Leeming is a credit to The Oaklands who looked after the wedding and was fantastic with the young children, calmed everybody throughout and ran the whole day with great efficiency. As a former wedding photographer I've worked with alot of venues and banqueting managers and in this Hotel and Ben you are up at the top. Many, many thanks for giving my daughter and son in law a fantastic day to remember.
Been to this Hotel 3Times cannot fault it Good Food ,Great Comfy Bedrooms ,Lovely Gardens ,Great Staff,Thoroughly Recommend it,W,e stay in this hotel as it is near where my Brother and his family live We love it
We had our after wedding meal here at the comfy duck in the longs lounge. After the service we had, I am so glad we chose this place! The food was absolutely filling but worth every bite. The staff were incredible with their friendly welcome and would do anything for you. I don't believe they could have been any more helpful than they were. Thankyou!
Yesterday the 23/08/2018 we held a small wedding reception in the longs lounge, we couldn't of picked a better place!, we booked a table for 18 guests and not one of us was unhappy with the service the food or the staff. The chef happily cooked our food 2 hours earlier then booked due to unforeseen circumstances,on our part. the food was beautiful, and the waiting staff were exceptional!, they couldn't do enough for us and happily obliged to any requests we had, we would highly recommend this venue for either a group or as a couple. Would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff involved, and to their managers your team couldn't of done anything better! And made my daughter and son in laws that extra special
very disappointing with my stay, i stayed for 2 nights, the room was very dirty and the staff on reception were so rude. i have stayed in many hotels and this is by far the worse one i have stayed in, I am not usually one too waste my time complaining but this was a joke. The staff were more bothered about having a conversation with each other then they were serving the customers, the food was served after an hour of waiting and it was cold, when my meal was bought over i did not get asked if i wanted any sauces or anything else my plate was pretty much just chucked on the table. when i confronted the girl that served me that my food was cold she did not apologize and nothing was taken off my bill. you can most certainly tell that the business has gone down hill in the past year. Pre warning to anyone that is thinking about staying Here..DONT and deifnatley do not eat the food.
I booked this hotel 4 months in advance as a group work booking via booking.com and when the group arrived to check in with the confirmation they still said they had no knowledge of the booking and did not help at all. The group were a young bunch of ladies and it was pretty late at night. The hotel was booked a and paid for through our trusted work travel agent and we have the email confirmation/references and everything. Incompetant!
The hotel is located in nice grounds. My room and bathroom was on the small side, however, it was clean and reasonably well decorated. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is not the best Best Western that i have stayed in, but i would return. The only thing going against the hotel is in an isolated location.
after reading trip advisor i'd expected the hotel to have actioned on comments, however ordered a burger and the reviews were correct thick, heavy dry bread bun approx. 40mm base on it, could not get through it, coupled with a small bit of tired salad, and a fist full of fries not recommended. I suppose when in Grimsby stick to fish and chips, over priced lager 4-75 for a san Miguel
I stayed here when best from the east hit. As humberside airport hotel was full. , my company put us up here. Great move as it was lovely and fantastic food and helpful staff. Would stay here again. The hilton at the airport coukd not cope being full to the max i got tild from other work colleges.
Stayed here twice in the last year. Once in winter, once in summer. Food was excellent both times although not the cheapest. The room I had for the winter visit was a bit gloomy and lacking in character, even though it had a 4 poster bed. Bathroom was a bit dated and I think the whole room is well overdue a refurbishment. The room I had for my summer visit was completely different and had a much more welcoming vibe. Interestingly the staff also seemed much happier and charming for the visit in summer! Bottom line is probably avoid rooms in the annexe.
My niece and her now husband held their wedding reception here.Lovely location. The BBQ was wonderful. The staff met our every need as regards the wedding. The bedroom had air conditioning, which was most welcome after a hot summers day.All the bedrooms though we're not provided with this,so check before you book if this present heatwave continues.I was so disappointed with the breakfast. We chose to have a bit of a lie in and came down at 9.45am.The choice of breakfast was not the same as those that opted for an early start. The eggs were overcooked, the hash browns had all gone,( and as I can't eat gluten this was very disappointing)My children wanted coussants but we're told they're weren't any left!!No beans.Cold mushrooms. So very disappointed with it.!! Surely this has got to be addressed.! One should still have the same choice. We all paid the same amount of money for bed and breakfast.Other than that ,we did enjoy our stay.Just left me feeling short changed.
Attended a family wedding & was given a friendly welcome upon arrival. Lovely superior room decorated in silver & black & a lovely chandelier, although it did lack air conditioning. The bed had a footboard at the bottom of the bed & my husband who is 6'4" could not lay straight in bed as it wasn't long enough. Wasn't keen on the step inside the room leading to the wardrobe & dressing table. Had a balcony with a scenic view of the gardens. At the wedding reception alcohol free lager was not available for purchase by wedding guests yet could be purchased at the restaurant bar for restaurant guests but they would not sell it to wedding guests???!! Breakfast was a bit of a let down, the bacon & sausages were only cooked on one side, the mushrooms were tinned & we had to ask for water as it wasn't readily available & the head waiter kept annoyingly trying to joke with people saying they had too much food on their plate. He obviously thought he was funny, most of the breakfast guests did not share his sense of humour. The hotel was clean & accommodating with requests. Alcohol very expensive to purchase at either bar, the restaurant bar also stocked a selection of speciality gins. Overall had a comfortable stay. The hotel is suitable for families, weddings & other functions or a couple wanting a quiet night away.
I stayed here over the weekend for a wedding. The rooms were very clean, had everything I needed, with small details like the complimentary water being a bonus. The only thing missing was the lack of information on check in, I wasn't told what time breakfast was or what time I needed to check out on my departure day. On check out I said I wanted to change the card I paid on, however looking at my bank statement this doesn't appear to have happened which is disappointing. I ate in the Comfy Duck restaurant on one of the evenings but wasn't impressed, however I have reviewed that separately so as to not impact the review of the hotel. It's a lovely hotel and I would definitely stay here again.
The hotel, positioned as it is on the northern tip of The Wolds, provided the ideal location for our visit. It is a pleasing building set in wonderful grounds. The room, although smallish, was clean and well equipped with a good view of the gardens. The food was excellent and well presented. The staff, which I think are the lifeblood of a hotel, were helpful, attentive and friendly. All this made for a very pleasant stay and the likelihood of a return visit in the future.
Visiting relatives in the area we stopped 2 nights and could not have asked for anything better. Decent sized room, clean and tidy, pleasant and helpful staff. The breakfast was the best I have had for some time. Will stay here again.
From the onset, nothing was too much trouble for the staff here in this lovely hotel. All staff whom we met from reception, housekeeping and hospitality services, were exceptional , and no unhappy faces either. Our room (which we upgraded) was very nice. There is good room service if required. Breakfast excellent, and again staff were very helpful and considerate. So, to ALL the staff at Oaklands Hall Hotel, A Big Thank You. Mr & Mrs P, Room 3 (9/6/2018)
We attended a function last weekend and had a room on the Saturday night. The function was fine. We were allocated room 8 at the top of the stairs in the main building.. As you get to the top of the stairs the signs say rooms 1 - 8 straight ahead. Not so. Room 8 is through a door on the left marked for room 9 onwards and is facing the access door for the whole floor. We went back to the room at midnight and then the problems started. ALL NIGHT we had other guests in and out banging the landing door each time. Laughing, shouting with no consideration for other guests who had gone to bed. Children running along the corridors screaming and screeching and all this going on until 6am. Not 1 member of staff came to stop the noise. As we went to our room at midnight we spotted a well dressed gent with his case and we now assume he had experienced this and was leaving. We left at 7 am as we had no sleep and complained at reception who appeared to be waiting for it. I am afraid that " sorry about that" just does not cut it. If you attend a function here " GET A TAXI AND GO HOME " its worth it.
Had a wedding this bank holiday...what a fantastic weekend. Thanks to Kerry, Ben and all the staff who went the extra mile. Food excellent , venue beautiful lucky to have the service outside. Special thanks. Fabulous day. Wayne and Michelle
I cannot praise the way the staff at this hotel enough ,everything from the minute I arrived to even the day we went to pick our personal decorations up was impeccable .I give extra special praise to the master of ceremony Ben he was amazing he guided me perfectly from start to finish nothing was too much trouble .I stayed the night before and ate in the comfy duck we had a ball the maitre d was hilarious kept us entertained throughout the food was delicious. The bridal suit was perfect I would recommend this hotel n venue over and over again 5* all the way .
We visited for a wedding and it was fantastic. The food was wonderful, the setting beautiful and your staff are first class! I cannot praise highly enough how brilliant your staff are, they're attentive, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We booked an executive room not knowing that they had no air conditioning, only the standard rooms did. A quick call to reception and we were quickly moved rooms, the downgrade was worth it as the room was so hot. Breakfast was a self serve and the food was lovely and there was a lot of choice. Really recommend this venue.
this is a beautiful place to stay really feels like you are on holiday even thou I wasn't on this occasion staff are wonderful and cant possibly do enough for you. Geoff in the evening keeps us topped up on food and drinks through the evening even providing entertainment thrown in. the lovely young lady on breakfast service was very attentive and polite. rooms are very clean, large beds some four poster, excellent tea tray even with biscuits. bathrooms again very clean large corner bath with lovely complementary shampoo etc. now food always well presented and delicious with plenty of it. love this hotel would love to return for a weekend break
Grimsby may not be the place you'd expect to find an old style country house hotel.............how wrong could you be. Oaklands is just lovely - staff amazingly friendly and efficient, food was lovely - it is what it is, a hotel not a fine dining restaurant, but this excelled. The terrace is a lovely place - in the sun with the G and T's lovely. If ever I have to return to Grimsby I would return to this hotel
We were attending a function in the Garden Room and booked a standard double room as we live too far away to drive home. I was a bit disappointed to be in the annexe rather than the main building which is very attractive from the outside but I would imagine you need to book a superior room in that case. The entrance door to the annexe is not locked so anyone can gain access to the corridor. Upon entering our room there was a definite smell - bit sour, like used socks - not pleasant! I opened the window to try and air the room and eventually it did go. The room itself was well appointed though with 2 mirrors and easily accessible plug sockets for hairdryer, phone charger etc, and the bathroom was clean. Wifi is free and worked well. There was a selection of hot drinks available although only one Typhoo teabag - luckily I like herbal and Earl Grey so that wasn't an issue for us. I did find the mattress a bit hard and the pillows are not feather which I do prefer, however I did sleep and it was nice to wake up to the sound of woodpeckers and the dawn chorus in the morning. Breakfast consisted of a selection of cereals and some pastries as well as a self service hot buffet back in the main building which is a short walk from the annexe. I had a lovely fruit salad followed by a selection of food from the buffet. I enjoyed everything except the sausage which was rather salty with a strong flavour that was not to my taste nor my husband's. You have to make your own toast which I find a bit of a pain so i didn't bother and you only get a single cup of tea - we weren't offered a top up. Overall, we had a reasonable stay but I probably wouldn't stay again.
Lovely well appointed room with nice view across the grounds. The staff very friendly and helpful. Really good atmosphere. The restaurant had a good selection of food though starter was a little cold.
organised a baby shower for a friend, Amy from reception was fantastic in helping me sort this out as the two friends expecting babies ended up in hospital prior, but Amy was patient with me sorting this out. Anyway all ended up well and went ahead as planned with mum to be being out of hospital in time! We were upgraded to the garden room and Lochlan and Emily did a grand job of sorting us all out with afternoon teas and Fizz.. Amy, Lochlan and Emily are a credit to the team and I thank them for all their help in making it a lovely day.
This room is beautifully decorated, with a very comfy and huge bed. We ate in the restaurant on the evening that we stayed - the steak night deal is very reasonable - and the food was delicious. We requested breakfast in bed as a treat, which included a full cooked breakfast. We thought that as this was an option and there was no table in the room that one might be brought when the food arrived; it didn't, so we ended up using the footstool at the end of the bed as a table and sitting on the floor! Not quite what we had in mind, but we found it fun and the breakfast was very tasty. As this room is only on the 1st floor there is a fair amount of noise from bassy music being played downstairs, and from deliveries outside; so don't book this room if you're not going to be OK with this.
Paid a little extra for a superior room. Bed was huge and comfortable. Room was quiet and well appointed. Shower was hot and easily controlled. Heating was effective and the windows open (I am a fresh air fiend). Car parking is plentiful. Staff were polite and helpful. Negatives: Avoid times when there are functions on! Drive up to hotel can be difficult to negotiate - single track with passing places. Would stay here again if in the area.
we had an excellent time from start to finish our evening meal was delicious well presented and service was good thanks to Geoff who was always at hand with a joke or a story to tell staff were well presented and polite .our room was warm and cosy exceptionally clean and comfortable with modern décor .Breakfast did not disappoint us again food was good and plentiful service was good overall our stay was fantastic we had a wonderful time and left feeling looked after....would highly recommend to anyone ..will be visiting again
This impressive looking hotel is situated at the end of a long driveway and you get a good feeling as soon as you see it. The entrance road to the itself is not so immediately obvious despite the large sign because the entrance is at a near 45 degree angle to the public road just before a bend. The hotel is situated well away from the public road. It would be easy to miss the first time you visit if it happens to be a dark rainy night. The reception staff were courteous and efficient. The room was comfortable and reasonably modern despite being in the historic part of the building. The free Wi-Fi worked well in bedroom. The first morning a large party of guests meant I was warned that a cooked breakfast may take some time so I opted for the cold buffet as I had to get to work. I was offered coffee when I first sat down but the filter coffee machine was empty both times I went to look for a refill. The second morning was completely different without the large party and everything worked completely satisfactorily and I enjoyed a cooked breakfast with plenty of coffee. I dined in the restaurant on two evenings and the food and service was excellent on both occasions. The garden looked fantastic and it would be great to dine outside in warmer weather. Overall a positive experience and I would happily stay here again.
I've never been to Grimsby before, so I have nothing to compare this too and not sure what the local standard is like. The main building is very pretty from the outside, and there is plenty of parking. The hotel itself is easy to find and just outside of the town itself. I booked in as a”walk in” as was asked to attend a meeting in Grimsby the next day (had come from Lincoln). The lady on reception was very helpful, if a little shy/not overly engaging. I was given room 45 which to my disappointment was in the annex (I didn't realise there was an annex until I was told to go outside). The door to the annex appeared to be unlocked all night without the need for a key to get in, which was a bit unsettling, especially as I was away on business on my own. There was however a latch and chain on the door to the room which I utilised. The room itself was on the ground floor right at the end. It was of a good size but was very tired and smelt a bit damp. The Paintwork was yellowed and there were sticky patches on the floor! The sheets in the bed didn't smell or feel clean. The bathroom was very tired and it looked like there was Hair in the bath but I actually think it was scratches. I didn't inspect too closely through fear of throwing up. There was no complimentary water in the rooms which I found weird for a 3 star hotel, and when I purchased from the bar I was charged £4 per bottle, which I guess stopped me from feeling home sick (London prices)! The walls were very thin and I could hear lots of men talking loudly in the hallway.. there was also I believe a heard of elephants staying above me, which was made worse by the floorboards creaking. Breakfast was nice, and the staff were friendly, although they were just sat down discussing the layout of the continental buffet which made me feel a bit like I was an inconvenience, but that might have just been because I was tired. Overall my stay was “ok” but I thought the brand name “best western” suggested maybe a good standard, but actually when faced with cheap plastic cups to drink out of perhaps it just means same standard as a travel lodge. I won't be staying here again, and I think that's a shame as with the lovely main building and fairly friendly staff there is lots of potential here. Perhaps the Best Western thing is holding it back.
Brilliant. Friends wedding, atmosphere was warm and friendly, staff helpful. The hotel was very comfortable, food excellent. I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel. The only downside was that the drinks were a little expensive. But all in all a very enjoyable stay.
None of the usual websites offered the deal I got. This time, booking direct through best western paid dividends. One of their executive sized rooms with free breakfast for half the normal price. It was a winter saver deal being between Xmas and new year, but still much better than anything else on offer for an opportunity to visit family. Oakland's is in a country setting but easily accessible. The room was quite big, the bathroom especially so. Not modern in style really. Comfortable. I had contacted the hotel to request an early check in the day before and they were able to arrange this. We ended up eating in the restaurant that night. It was fine. Not great. Same with the breakfast the next morning. It was a perfect option for what I wanted.
Had our Christmas do there a soul night the live music was fab and the disco was good stayed over night. Had a great breakfast the only small nigal was our bed was only a double and the bathroom was a little tight room 22. Would use again.
So disappointing, doesn't come close to last years Christmas afternoon tea. Soup was cold, vegetarian option was ridiculously poor, normally you get a vegetarian menu this year they was given half a burnt vegetarian sausage and the substitute of the prawn cocktail was some leaves and four cubes of beetroot, for £17.00 I would have expected some home cooked vegetarian food/choices. No tea spoons, provided, and we asked for some table water which never materialised. When we went to pay the bill it was wrong twice, very very disappointed wont be going back again. The only positive was we did have two lovely waiters.
Our stay was perfect starting with the the friendly welcome, to the immaculate room and a wonderful dining experience right from the waiting staff through to the delicious food. The house itself is magical, especially at Christmas, and the grounds are spectacular. Would thoroughly recommend Oaklands Hall hotel as a base for exploring NE Lincs.
this hotel is a old hall very comfortable plenty of parking and set in a nice area, easy reach to Humberside Airport and the town of Grimsby.York. and Leeds are only about 90 minutes away The meals in restaurant are exhalant.
Friendly, welcoming and helpful, clean room, well equipped, good food, expensive drinks! building with some character in a good location, handy for nearby towns but quiet nights despoite functions going on
What an amazing day. Oakland's could not do enough to help. My daughter stayed the night before in a beautiful room. Oakland's let them use another room for the hairdresser at no cost. The bridal suite was lovely and spacious, big enough to fit 7 bridesmaids, the bride, myself and the hairdresser who kindly helped her into her dress. The room and wedding breakfast was beautiful. Staff were excellent. Even managed to book a room last minute at 12 am for my other daughter as she couldn't get a taxi home. Next morning we all met for breakfast again with friendly service then the host from the night before helped us pack everything from the wedding. They really did my daughter proud and she had a truly amazing day. Thank you Oakland's.
Me and my wife have just had our amazing wedding at this fabulous hotel, on the 28th October 2017, the staff couldn't have been more help if they had tried especially Ben leeming, he helped myself put the last few bits on the guest tables and was generally just super. My wife stayed there the night before the wedding and loved it. The day of the wedding we were given an extra room for the use of the makeup artist, and the room we were in was plenty big enough for her, her 6 bridesmaids a hairdresser, both mothers and a baby The food is outstanding and highly recommended, the wedding breakfast, the evening buffet and breakfast. The day after the wedding the staff were still very helpful Ben even came in to help us pack up. We are very impressed with the whole event and are already planning on having a naming ceremony there next year.
Had my wedding at the Oaklands 7/10/17 in the garden suite. From start to finish the staff couldn't do enough for us. The venue is stunning as are the grounds. I stayed in the junior suite the night before my wedding and the night of my wedding and would highly recommend. It's stunning and large enough to have the wedding party get ready the day of the wedding, I had my photographer, make up artist and hairdresser, myself and 6 other women the morning of my wedding and there was more than enough space. I set my wedding up the day before my wedding as did my own decor and I was greeted by a very professional but also very friendly man called Ben Leeming (banqueting manager) He was a massive support and help throughout the whole prep day. Couldn't thank him enough. The day of my wedding he also kept me very calm was very attentive to my husband, all my family and guests. He's a massive credit to the hotel. Also a big thanks to my little Lewis. Best barman in town. Always had a smile on his face and plenty of friendly chats to go along with it. My day was magical and the staff helped with this. The wedding breakfast and buffet in the evening was beautiful as was my meal in the comfy duck the night before my wedding. Served by cheeky Geoffrey who is always there with a warm smile and fantastic people skills. So if you are looking for a venue for a function or wedding head to the Oaklands you would not be disappointed. My wedding weekend was magical a weekend I'd never forget.
After a family wedding we booked rooms for overnight stay. The lock on my daughters room door jammed and she was unable to get to her belongings for 11 hours. She was offered another room for the night. Once a locksmith had forced the room door open the following morning,a rude member of staff told my daughter she could go into her room now..with no opology or nothing. Other members of our party also had belongings in her room and was unable to get a change of clothes etc until 11 o'clock the following morning. I know it wasn't entirely the hotels fault this happened but an apology would have been nice as the whole wedding party spent well over 1000 pounds for a one night stay. Will not be returning.
Came as part of a wedding party, the dinner was delicious, I was full after and didn't think I could eat a desert, but it was so nice that I managed to polish that of as well. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
I visited this hotel as part of afternoon reunion get together- young staff were extremely polite professional and pleasant. The room was light and cheerful and the food delicious and very well p;resented. What more can I say? A delightful experience, thank you.
Only stayed one night, but I stay at a lot of hotels during the year. My stay was excellent and really enjoyed the 'Award winning Haddock and chips'. Meals are superb and the room was very comfortable making this stay one of the most enjoyable.
Came here Saturday night for our wedding anniversary stayed in the superior double room, clean rooms bed very comfty aswell very big spacious room bathroom large aswell really could not fault the room breakfast great the following day had a nice stay and would cone back again thank you
Where can I start, the beginning.... I (wrongly) assumed afternoon tea at the Oaklands was going to be a grand affair- worth the asking price of £16.95 pp. We had a table for 8 people, when staff arrived with the plates of food, the table was barley big enough to fit any of the food, its a good job the staff didn't bring any drinks until we had finished eating as these would have to be put on the floor/on our knees! Albeit some of the table did ask for their tea/coffee beforehand and did not receive until after the food had finished and had to prompt them for tea and coffee. The small table and unconfident waitressing staff could be excused if the food was up to scratch...BUT IT WAS NOT! For the amount each person had paid we could have had much more food per person, I definitely was not full. The quality of the food was not up to much, the slice of sandwich appeared 'curly' the mini fish and chips cold and greasy, scone was dry.....should I go on?? I couldn't believe it really. I've only had afternoon tea at two other venues (Petit Delight and Relish- thumbs up) so did not have much to compare to, albeit I came away disappointed, £16.95 worse off and hungry. It was even a MASSISVE palaver to pay the bill? Never really experienced anything like this. Please sort this out Oaklands....even Dick Turpin wore a balaclava. Sorry Oaklands I wont be coming back!!
We stayed as a deal as part of picking up a new Mercedes. £95 for an evening meal for two, overnight stay and breakfast. Which is extremely good value. I have to say the food was amazing. Breakfast was a help yourself buffet with a huge choice including full English or continental, cereal, fruit, yoghurt - pretty much everything. All lovely and fresh and well cooked. Absolutely lovely. The hotel itself seems a little tired and dated, but it could just be that I am used to a couple more stars. Lino on the floor of the bathroom was an interesting touch when you are used to marble/tiling. The bed was monumentally uncomfortable, which was rather disappointing. And there were several room service trays left in the corridor which stunk to high heaven which were left for several hours which was a bit unpleasant.
Really don't know where to start from the moment we arrived till we left amazing from checking in to checking out lovely friendly staff with a warm welcome atmosphere nothing too much trouble we was offered a upgrade in room because we could only get in the restaurant at 8,30 which was lovely but we had unpacked the food was amazing waiter waitress where lovely bar staff excellent service fantastic nothing to much trouble excellent there was a wedding , engagement party , birthday party ,plus a full restaurant and the food was perfect and not a long wait breakfast this am just as good thank you to all
We recently had a wedding party. We arrived at the beginning of the evening, so I don't have any opinion of the dinner or the day-event. Nor did we stay the night. The party was nice, with many people and a happily married couple. Everything appeared having been organised well. The party was fun, but I was very surprised by the prices of the drinks. These appeared excessive to me; examples, a pint of Guinness was £4.70 and a cola (ice & lemon) was £2.0. We also drank wine, but I do not know what the price was for this. I find these prices very high. A serious margin for Best Western.
Visited on a special Mercedes deal to collect a car from the dealership opposite . We enjoyed a comfortable room , an evening dinner allowance of £25.00 each and an excellent breakfast . Very polite and enthusiastic staff . Clean room and unbelievable value for money . Well done .
My wife and I stayed for two nights, as we were attending a family wedding. Our room was small, but comfortable enough, and was provided with the usual facilities you'd expect. Free guest WiFi -I hate it when you have to pay for what is now a basic facility. From a veggie perspective, the restaurant menu was somewhat limited - another non-spicy option of two would have been welcome; even meat eaters are sometimes tempted by a non meat meal, and the option of a veggie sausage at breakfast would also have been welcome. The wedding element was very good - the hotel wedding coordinator was efficient, attentive and always had an eye open to ensure everything ran smoothly. We had the benefit of a lovely sunny day, but if the weather had been tipping down with rain, there was plenty of room inside.
My last two visits have been the same. The first one happened to be during a week full of prom night parties and they selected a room for me right above the garden area where the prom guests spent most of their time. This was general noise which I put down to the kids just enjoying their night. However, each night was ended with a massive firework display that shook the windows. This was after 11.00pm each night and lasted about twenty minutes, which I thought was a little too late when you have a hotel full of guests. The second visit was during a week full of movie nights when the whole hotel was subjected to 4.5 hours of extremely loud music and movie noise. On both of these occasions I was unable to change my room to a quieter location and both times I wasn't warned that there would be horrendous noise from the events they had booked all week. The experience is not worth the money that this hotel charges.
Normally come to visit my family. We stay here when we can but sometimes hard to book directly so got through other sites. Jeffery the manager is the high light of our stay. All way ready with a welcoming smile. Although the rooms need a tweak here and there they are clean. Restaurant the comfy duck has great food and fine wines. Breakfast is also great most of the staff are so helpful. This time I travel on business and have been booked by company and reception just the same.
On arrival building very impressive and there was plenty of parking. Got checked in and asked did we want newspapers papers to our room, to which we replied yes. As our arrival was a bit late 8.30-9pm, we decided to have a drink in the lounge. Two white wine spritzers and one beer. Waiter duly arrived and placed all drinks in middle of table, so we had a little chuckle about that, there was only three other people in the lounge - one gent in a blue suit and two ladies. It looked like the gent in the suit might have been a member of staff as he kept disappearing behind the reception desk - then staff from behind the desk would come out and have a carry on with said gent, more staff followed. Not a very professional atmosphere. Husband tried to order another drink but had to go to bar himself and ordered his beer, sat down and after another 10 minutes had to reattend bar to ask where the beer was. Next morning after having slept in a comfortable bed, we noticed there was no newspaper at the door. Had shower, although shower could do with being a bit more powerful, ok a lot more powerful! Went down to breakfast which was ok, husband ordered fish and eggs from the menu. What arrived was one piece of fish (as expected) and one egg not eggs as stated on menu - breakfast staff were helpful and friendly. On asking about non delivery of newspaper 'Oh you didn't get it'. No explanation, no apology we were assured it would be removed from our bill. We had to ask for it to be removed from our bill the next day. Overall our stay was ok but the staff either need more training in customer service or need to get more motivated!
Attended for a meal to celebrate a birthday. Our party was for 17 people in which we were shown to a private room. The room was well set out and we we weren't all squashed together. The staff served the courses in a timely manner and everybody got their meals together. The only slight annoyance was that once our main meals were served we were left waiting for all condiments/sauces etc whilst our meal was getting cold as they were longer than expected. The other moan and this wasn't myself was that the portion of the vegan meal was on the small side. I found my meal well presented and cooked spot on. They had a head of service and he was very helpful and funny. An all round good experience.
A evening booking for three, nice table, extremely good welcome, all staff were most professional, and attentive to our needs. The menu was more than adequate for us,good choice of fish and meats, the "amuse bouche " was a pleasant intro, just right in composition, but did not take away the desire for a entree. We enjoyed the wines,a smooth merlot and a crisp sauvignon blanc ,but the mains we're easily the piece de resistance,my pork tenderloin and belly pork ensemble was perfect, as was the fish platter, although the white bait was not available, the substitute smoked Haddock fish cake came up to the high standard of the fish course. The drinks ,coffee and service was very good. It was nice to see talented, enthusiastic and extremely competent waiting staff ,who we discovered were all from the local area, young British working people who were doing an excellent job. Unfortunately we find that many Hotel and catering businesses seem to think that the local homegrown youngsters are not up to the job of hospitality and catering, this is most evident the further South one goes in U.K. As a frequent traveler around the UK I would say that the home grown well trained restaurants and Hotel staff is as good if not better than the hard working east Europeans that are exploited In many of the Hotel and Restaurant chains round theUK So,to the staff at the "Comfy Duck" I would just say, thanks for a really nice evening.
After booking in January and eagerly awaited we arrived to be informed the venue had been moved inside due to concerns over the weather.... By management own admission they had over booked and changed the afternoon teas for a buffet. An overcrowded room with a queue for the buffet where you were stood for 30 minutes plus, that snaked down the room around tables trying to enjoy the entertainment. The hotel struggled to keep the buffet stocked Refreshments of tea and coffee consisted of two coffee pots and two pots of hot water for tea.... far from Ideal for 200 plus people. No clean cups or cutlery. I emailed our disappointment on the day but as yet after 2 further emails and two phone calls management haven't had the decency to respond. Very very poor afternoon indeed
I took my friend for her birthday for afternoon tea at the Comfy Duck. Soft music played in the background as we were greeted nicely at the door. At the table, the polished cutlery was laid perfectly next to a crisp white cotton napkin. Afternoon tea was superb and we upgraded by £3 to include prosecco or Pimms and lemonade (with lots of mixed fresh fruit). Afternoon tea was unusual but well done, the usual sandwiches, scone and cakes but with a mini fish n chips and a mini trifle. The waitress also asked us when we would like tea or coffee and brought it after for us. All the staff were very professional, smart and polite but the head waiter was also very funny and even serenaded my friend and took photos. Lovely afternoon
We stayed overnight after a wedding. We had a spacious, comfortable room with a large bed. It was very quiet - even with all the wedding guests around - and we slept very well. Superb breakfast. Friendly helpful staff.
Great hotel with lots of character, in a lovely setting. I stayed here for one night this week. I stayed in room 12 which is right at the top of the building, in the main house. The room was very nice, immaculate and had everything you need. The only downside was the heat of the room - no air con but a fan was supplied. Excellent staff and great food. I would stay here again - well done to all the staff :)
From arriving to leaving the whole experience was 1st class, the room was great, clean, fresh and a 4 poster bed. We attended a wedding and it was held outside in a loverly part of the hotel then afterwards in the reception area, all was good except the seating plans they had published did not match the table plans, we even had a chair missing and when questioned this was told we can get you another chair but it won't be the same and will have no cover on. Also the they were still dressing the room whilst we were trying to get seated. Word of advice, poor planning and preparation would of prevented pretty poor performance had the man in charge done his home work and cross checked and inspected the work his staff had done. Also I never got what I ordered along with several others as the menu they sent out was not the same on the day, however the food was good and 1st class. This could of run like clockwork had the basics been followed by who ever was in charge that day, learning point for staff and management that they need to get it right at what they charge for the service.
We stayed here only a few days ago, after a good friends wedding and it was amazing. We booked the family room in the old part of hotel which was extremely large and comfortable, with a good sized bathroom that had a bath and a shower. The main bed was huge!!! It was also very comfortable, as were the two singles. The food was great and I can't really fault it, nor the draught Poretti lager. The grounds are spacious, well tended and make for a beautiful location. My words to my wife on paying the bill were "that's cheap as chips! We've stayed in much worse places for much more money!". Highly recommend this hotel.
Just stayed for one night as we attended our Sons wedding, the venue for the wedding was excellent, The room was made up beautifully it made it all so right, The food was excellent my compliments to the Chef. you could not wish for better, the staff were friendly and very helpful, The rooms were basic but very clean and had everything you would want for a stay.
Recently moved to the North East from Lincolnshire, having returned for a wedding in Louth this last weekend, we booked the Oaklands as we have dined here many times, up until a couple of weeks ago all been great experiences. The room we was given (No.47) was average if somewhat dated although adequate for what we paid, we did not pre book breakfast, but asked if we could pay for breakfast on arrival for the first morning but not the second. I was asked for my card, which was swiped and given a receipt for £25, not quite sure whether I have been charged £25, as was told that the account would be settled on departure, although had paid for room upfront. No monies have exited my account as yet. Although what is baffling, room service breakfast, which consists of everything you get if you dine in the restaurant is charged at £9.99pp and if you pre-booked breakfast it was £10pp and I had been given a receipt of £25, which would indicate £12.50pp On entering the dining room, we were not on the list for breakfast and had to wait 10 mins whilst staff went from pillar to post to check if we could have some, we were eventually seated, the experience was like being at Butlins, there had been a wedding on the previous day so quite a few had stayed over by all accounts, kids running round, adults in flip flops, shorts and vests, breakfast was luke warm was not impressed at all, there was adequate variety but nothing spectacular, we had only booked breakfast as we thought it would be a nice experience in the surroundings of what the Oaklands has to offer, Geoff of course was as welcoming as always and trying to keep the staff up to speed. On vacating the Hotel the next morning was asked if everything was ok, I mentioned about the breakfast, only to be changed for one breakfast not 2 and was asked for my card again and given another receipt for £11.75, I await my bank account transaction to see what exactly I have been charged possibly £25 then another £11.75 not quite sure still what breakfast is charged at or do the staff make their own rates up? I had previously eaten afternoon tea at the Oaklands a couple of weeks earlier as I was down visiting friends, so we had decided to book the afternoon tea, very poor indeed for the price of £20pp with prosecco. My friends had commented after that experience why we had even booked a room there because of disappointment with the tea, I would agree now. Won't rush back !!!
Booked in to this large wedding/event hotel. A prom, wedding and hen party all happening. Staff very pleasant and room comfortable and clean but did feel we were intruding on other's fun. Like to sleep with windows open but this proved impossible with disco until early hours. Food in restaurant ok. Breakfast buffet in dismal room. Doubt we will return.
Attend wedding last weekend, easy to find. The rooms was quite spacial, nice clean and good parking. Good atmosphere and busy. Would recommend but need to improve on the food side. Staff was helpful from check in to the event.
We recently stayed at the hotel and I have to say the staff and the stay were perfect. The staff are polite and very helpful. The location of the hotel is beautiful. It is an old Manor House by the look of it and set in its own grounds with ample parking at the front of the hotel. The only thing I could find wrong was there are a couple of shallow steps leading into the lobby that could really do with a handrail, as my mum isn't so spritely any more she did struggle a little gaining access to the main building, but as the rooms are accessible off the main building and have ground floor access it isn't too much of an issue. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Amazing venue amazing staff made a very hectic weekend relatively stress free. Loved every minute of my weekend at this hotel it is testament to the fact that it was all so good because my wife could not find fault. I can not thank the management enough, particularly the both Richards who are so professional and made my daughters wedding weekend amazing and unforgettable. A big thank you too all the Oaklands staff for all their hard work and dedication. Thank you all. We highly recommend the Oaklands hotel for any venue and occasion. You won't be disappointed. Brilliant Mr &a Mrs Dinnes
Went here, attending a family wedding, with an overnight stay. Room was adequate, however the 'family' room had a spare bed in the entrance area. Breakfast was luke warm at best, but would have been nice if hot. Nice enough but premier in rates higher in my opinion.
I had a 1 night stay here for business, the location was good and easy to find. It appeared quite an impressive building on arrival, the inside was very nicely done with a large staircase up to the bedrooms. The room I had was a good size with new carpet, the bed was comfy, although the room was a little on the warm side. The walls of the rooms were quite thin as I could hear the person next door having a conversation. I didn't use any of the facilities or food areas of the hotel so can't comment on those. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful at check in and check out. Although there was wifi in the room, it was very slow.
We called at the hotel today on an adhoc visit to look at their facilities as a prospective wedding venue. Prior to having a look around we decided to go into the hotel to have a coffee and get a feel for the place. We went into the 'comfy duck' area of the hotel and were told abruptly by the blonde haired man who worked there that they would not serve us in there and that if we wanted coffee we would have to sit in the foyer which at the time was full of guests from a wedding party getting ready to check out and who naturally were very jovial and noisy. The area we were expected to sit in was dark and not at all a reasonable place to be expected to sit as customers given that it was a thorough fare for departing guests. The comfy duck was quiet at the time and we feel that the member of staff was both unpleasant and unreasonable in refusing to serve us in there. With regard to the hotel as a wedding venue, you are initially wowed by the main building but despite our treatment we went to view the garden room where weddings are held. This is disappointing..... a dull and dingy addition at the side of the hotel..... what a shame...... the hotel looked so impressive from outside.
Excellent hotel, lovely rooms, attentive staff and excellent food. I had previously stayed in March 2016 for a business trip and it was good then. Nice hotel in particular for couples. Lovely grounds, nice for a celebration or wedding. Would definitely stay here again. Typical of a Best Western Hotel standards. Best Regards Simon Evans
Went to see a good friend who is the new restaurant manager at the comfy duck and had afternoon tea with my partner. The food was amazing as was the service. Great to see jamie is getting his gin collection up and running. Highly recommended!
First of all I would just like to say wow!!! Had my wedding here this weekend and what an amazing day it was, made much more pleasant and a weight of out shoulders thanks to the staff at the oaklands, Richard Ben and kerry thank you for making our day so perfect and going the extra mile too, nothing was to much to ask these guys so glad we chose this venue, it's an absolutely beautiful place, the grounds looked amazing the food was amazing to, would highly recommend to anybody so thanks again oaklands hall hotel and your amazing staff for you all round efforts
Could not get into room until batteries changed. Door Card died 4 times - not near phones. Spilt ash tray on balcony, asked to be cleared three times, still there. Breakfast a greasy mess. Domestic pop up toaster for 30-40 people. Mattress totally shot. Like sleeping on the floor. Can't fall asleep watching a film, TV only in living room, not in bedroom. Banging dance music in room below, not dealt with until 03:00. Two weddings and a 21st with not enough parking. Place rammed. I stay in hotels about 20 days a month. I would almost prefer a Holiday Inn, or even a travel lodge. Terrible. Service non existent.
Was here for a wedding, which was lovely & great food and the staff was lovely. Great day. Decided to stay over as had to drive and the room was great and the bed was very comfortable. Definitely recommend it.
Overall the setting of hotel is excellent.Clean rooms with all modern facilities and decor.Everything was in working order. The wi-fi was working but sometimes dropped you which could be due to being in countryside and signal being not strong enough
Hotel was ok but needs a bit of a refresh. Ate at the Comfy Duck where 6 of us where given a table for 4. Food lovely but service was slow and staff inattentive. Breakfast service also poor. There was a function playing very loud music bit it did stop at 11.
Visited here for the first time for a special dinner. Very impressed by the guy who greeted us as he remembered our dietary requirements. We had a lovely meal, recommend the steak or duck and the service was second to none. Lovely surroundings, just a great evening all round.
One of the better Best Westerns I have stayed in great food in restaurant, breakfast is more than adequate, comfortable rooms more than suitable for our needs, would recommend based on my experiance..
Presentation Meeting with our new bosses, food and drink provided and very nice it was too. Good selection of finger foods which were very tasty, tea and coffee also. Would have tried a bit more but food taken away before our presentation finished
This is a minor country house hotel that has been renovated at some but still retains that wonkiness that comes with age. My room was small for two people, tiny bathroom and all night long air conditioning unit right outside my window - not at all good. Public spaces are not particularly nice, more 2 star by today's standards. The highlight though is the restaurant, I had one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. the service was good but some of the dishes not quite right, overall though large portions and good quality, certainly a cut above the average chain standard and they obviously try very hard. The fabric of the hotel is dated though. Nicely positioned on the outskirts of Grimsby.
We stayed overnight as my friend was married here, and over all, it is a lovely place. The building is beautiful, and the staff exceedingly helpful, especially with the wedding preparations, and the bar staff had a great sense of humour. The food at the wedding was beautiful, it didn't take an excessive amount of time to serve everyone, and came out piping hot. We were fortunate to be able to check in to our room early, which was a good size double (room 19), with plenty of space for the extra bed requested for our son. However, when we came back to our room early as our son was dead on his feet, the noise coming from another wedding in the function room below was unbelievable. The furniture and bed were vibrating with the music (really good band but would have preferred not to hear them in our room!), and made it impossible to have a conversation never mind sleep! It ended at 12.40, and only then was I able to try to sleep. The sound issues really do need looking at, as other guests in the party had other issues with noise too. The bed wasn't the comfiest as we seemed to roll together into the middle. Another niggle was that, although the wedding venue itself was lovely, the entrance to the Laceby Suite had logs with a blue tarpaulin over them, scaffold boards & a push bike to greet the guests with, & made the place look unkempt. Breakfast was really good, with a fair selection and again, hot & tasty food. The toast machine however was a pain, as bread had to go through twice to have any colour at all, and was situated after you had queued to get your hot food - this could perhaps do with a re-think. The hotel was fully booked, and when other friends came down for breakfast, there was a large queue for hot food, and there was a wait for some items to be replenished. Overall, this was a good place to stay, but, if you're looking for a restful night away, make sure that either they've had a full refit of sound proofing, or that there aren't any functions on the night of your stay.
We stopped here for 2 nights, 4th and 5th November. It was a perfect place for our daughters wedding. All the staff are amazing, courteous and professional. The whole planning of the event went seamlessly, with everyone having a great time both during the ceremony, the afternoon tea and the evening celebrations. The Oakland Hall Hotel Staff took care of every detail. We had two breakfasts in the hotel and they were excellent full English faire.. The rooms had everything you could wish for if not that spacious. There was one negative in our room #49 and that was the bed was very uncomfortable. Time for a change we feel. The problem being rolling together in the middle of the bed. Not good! If it had not been for this we would have rated excellent instead of very good. That aside, well done to all of the staff at this hotel. Especially the very nice lady on reception that managed to conjure up the brides Nana's (89 years old) gold wedding ring that belonged to her mother. It was lost down the basin plug hole in the reception toilets!
Stopped at the oaklands last night, e-mailed hotel to see if we could check in early as we needed to get changed for a wedding we were going too at hotel they replied promptly and they would try but could not promise got there and room was available thank you quick check in room clean nice size bit of a small bed good sized tele showing bt sports at no cost, iron and ironing board and a fan +tea and coffee all provided, buffet breakfast was very nice help urself to everything toast jams croissants yogurts juices the only thing that has stopped me giving this 5 star rating is the bar prices they are way too expensive we are all not business men claiming it back on expenses come on best westen, ps it was a great wedding u provided food and room excellent.
had afternoon tea here and it was great. There was a Roald Dahl chocolate theme and it was imaginative and delicious. Lovely atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. Would definitely recommend. Came out feeling really stuffed.
My family and I had a fabulous evening tonight at The Comfy Duck restaurant. The venue was cosy and clean, very well presented. The service was efficient and welcoming. The front of house staff were extremely friendly, making us feel very comfortable. The food was cooked to perfection, the beef stroganoff in particular was divine! I would highly recommend this venue to friends and family, not one bad word to say about our experience. We will definitely be returning to this venue.
Stayed in this hotel last August. When you drive towards the Hotel, it already looks great. Receptions / entrance looks great. Unfortunnetly i stayed in a "side building" which is attached to the hotel. (probably they made this to exact their room amount) Unfortunately the rooms where small & out-dated. The food is "ok" / Good, but over-priced.
Spent the afternoon and night at a friend's wedding. Everything was spot on, starting with the ceremony till breakfast next morning. The hotel is an old mansion house, with inside retaining its lovely features. Our room was well equipped with all the things you expect and a really comfy bed. The wedding dinner, the buffet and breakfast were all very nice meals. The hotel helped to make the whole day a great success.
my husband and I were married here on the 24.9.16 it was a fantastic day from start to finish. we had a couple of different coordinators through staff changes but we met with alex and she knew exactly what we had arranged and was 100% up to date with the plans. she kept in touch and answered all my questions and nothing was too much trouble she even got me a glass of water before i walked in to calm my nerves. we had scott as our master of ceremonies and he was fabulous. he was polite and freindly and made sure the day ran smoothly he even came out to see if we wanted canopes saving as we were having our photos done in a seperate area when they were being served. he made sure we had something to eat and drink. he didnt even laugh when i gave him a specific place in the fiest dance song to pop our confetti balloon (and i sang it to him) the guests said the food was amazing and the room was set out perfectly. nothing went wrong at all not 1 thing. i would recommend this place to anyone to get married the grounds are stunning and the cost of the day itself is very reasonable for the outstanding service. we visited the comfy duck the day before and the staff took a real interest in the day and even complimented us on the day. i cannot praise these people enough thankyou so much for making our day perfect.
When we pulled into the long drive way to the hotel I was excited. This beautiful building has so much character and I hoped our room was in the original building. Lucky for me it was. we checked in early as we were there for our friends wedding. Although you could see the buildings flaws it was so beautiful we didn't care. The room was beautiful lovely and cosy. It was only when it was bed time that I wished I hadn't stayed. Having fibromyagia means I have a lot of sensory and pain issues, so every time someone emptied the glass bar bins that were outside our window pain shot through me. people were shouting through the corridors at gone 12pm and there was a creaky floor board that was just outside our door. The music from the wedding I attended was so loud that I had to leave the wedding as the dj clearly didn't know how to alter the bass of his own equipment, which is why I ended up bathed and in bed by 10pm, the bass shook the floors upstairs so much and because of my condition it vibrated through me, leaving me tearful. I hoped to be able to go through and sit in the reception for a while instead of going back to my room but there was a singer on. And whilst she was very good I needed somewhere quiet to be pain free. Which didn't happen. Whilst I accept that non of the above is the fault of anyone, I do wish there was somewhere quieter I could go to gather myself together. Most of the staff were great and helpful, I think it would be great if the bar /waiting staff were trained on wine. I was offered red white or rose wine, I asked what the names were, only to be told "house red, house rose and house white" I explained that I had meant the actual name on the label and was again told, "all I know is red white or rose" I opted for white because the waitress seemed flustered, it was the worst wine I've ever had. It was just pure turpentine :/ I think maybe the Best Western could make their house wine a nice one. All in all though, staff were friendly and worked hard, the food was beautiful, the room was beautiful, and it's set in a beautiful place. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is because of the noise when it was time to sleep, I didn't take any stars off for waitress knowledge of wines or my sensory problems as my pain condition isn't one that was able to be solved given the fact I went to a wedding knowing that it was possible that I'd suffer. Thanks very much though :)
Our son and daughter in law were married on 16th September at this wonderful hotel a would like to say everyone had the most fantastic day from start to finish. The wedding ceremony was so special, then the wedding breakfast was extremely good with the most wonderful food and the waiting staff were very good. We would like to send our praise to the chef and catering staff for the most fantastic meal. A lot of our family stayed overnight at the hotel and we all had nice rooms and a lovely breakfast the following morning. Thank you to everyone for making the wedding day so special.
May I say this was the most fantastic night for me n my husband n 2 friends xxx never tried a better steak in my life n iv tried loads of good ens xxxx rich looked after us a treat even if we were a bit rowdy we were still made to feel like royalty xxx also lachlan was weird and wonderful as ever I honestly can't rate this place enough xxx I know alot of people and will defo recommend it to all xxx I sincerely hope rich and lachlan get the credit they deserve from this review for the world class hospitality we received tonight from beginning to end. Great value. Great food and well done to the chef that we are yet to meet. Your front of house staff do u proud and your food was second to none xxx lots of love xxxx
A large old building with bags of character, I slept well as the bed was very comfortable, the rest of the hotel is in need of a major injection of T.L.C (tender loving care) its worn out . The Staff were good, the food lacked quality.
I booked the hotel as it was just on the outskirts of grimsby close to the country side and thought it would be quite and restfull. However at the time of booking was not informed that there was a wedding and we were right above the disco the bass was shaking the floor and we couldnt even here the tv.worst night i spent away such a shame when everything else was good
Stayed in a feature room which was exceptionally well fitted out and spacious. Large modern bathroom with corner bath. Dinner service was rather slow and a couple of things described on the menu did not appear on the plate. Menu was imaginative and uses local produce. Breakfast was excellent
We had our sons wedding here in September and couldn't fault anything on the day. The staff were brilliant, the venue was stunning and the wedding food was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I would certainly recommend the Oakland's for a wedding
This grand old lady is in need of refurbishment. The room we had was tiny and smelt very musty, although it was clean. There were buckets out in the hall to catch the rain coming through the roof. The reception area has adequate seating, but once again very tired and dated. We stayed one night as we were attending a wedding in the area, so it was handy for that. The staff were OK. Friendly. So all in all not the best stay. We did not eat here.
Stayed here one night. The hotel building and grounds are very nice although we were placed in the adjoining modern annexe. We had a standard double which was clean and comfortable. We ate in the hotel restaurant (The Comfy Duck)the food and service were good. The dishes had a local twist with grouse and Grimsby crab among our choices. There was an issue in the dining room with a slightly unpleasant musty smell from the furnishings and carpets. There were also several flies in the dining room. This spoiled our experience. Breakfast was good, again with a local flavour, but sadly served in same dining room. Worth staying here but hygiene issues in restaurant need sorting.
I stayed here for bed and breakfast it was £227 for 3 nights with the breakfast. The hotel is a large hall. Quite a nice setting. A good location for road networks as well. There is a large free car park at the hotel. Inside the hotel and rooms it is quite dated. The rooms are a reasonably size with a tv, iron, ironing board and tea making facilities. The hotel also has rooms catered for disabled people as I was in one. They have a walk in shower and shower seat and thick toilet seat and handles and emergency alarm cords etc. Room service is daily The only thing I wasn't happy with is that they put me in one of the ground floor rooms and it was very hot but couldn't leave the window open as they open fully so someone could have got into the room.
Excellent hotel lovely grounds and excellent staff. Room was lovely really comfortable beds bathroom a little tired but ok and clean. The noise from the music was quite loud in the evening and the kitchen extractor was right outside our room window with the kitchen noise we were woken quite early then kept awake late at night. But besides that i would come again but maybe a quieter room
Attended a wedding which I must say was lovely. Very attentive staff, excellent food and the drinks weren't too expensive either. Lovely grounds for the photos and a nice conservatory area to relax in while waiting for the night do. Highly recommend it.
Exactly what you expect from a Best Western hotel; lovely character building, individual rooms, good location with country views, nice staff, clean rooms. Beware if you are in the main building above the kitchen as the industrial dish washer is noisey and goes on all night. When I complained I was told that it had been like that for ages....come on Best Western get the dish washer fixed!
Noise from wedding parties spoilt what was otherwise a good weekend at Oaklands Hall. Check before booking if there are weddings that weekend! But otherwise everything was fine - lovely grounds, good service, good location for us, visiting relatives
When ever I come to this hotel I find the staff to be extremely helpful and polite and will go the extra mile to accommodate your needs. I visited with my parents for a bar snack and they went above and beyond what was required to make a simple snack special. Thank you.
I stayed at this hotel in June for 2 nights for my daughter's wedding nothing was r Too much trouble my room a family room was spacious and comfortable My daughter's wedding day was handled with expertise and perfection to ensure a wonderful and memorable day was had by all The staff well what can I say excellent is an understatement I have a grandson who is autistic and has other health needs the compassion understanding and care to meet my grandson's needs and a great understanding of his condtion ensured he had a truly wonderful stay I must mention the outstanding food both at my daughter wedding reception and the comfy duck restaurant every need was catered for with sheer. Professionalism The management for feel so proud of having a excellent team of staff to run a truly remarkable hotel
The food here is first class wonderful service and beautiful setting the rooms are stunning. A perfect stay,my evening meals were of excellent quality very help helpful staff. Bedding was crisp and clean. The building is fabulous beautiful staircase and great afternoon teas and evening events
Very warm welcome, friendly staff, spotlessly cleaning comfortable room, good size bathroom. My husband and I were attending a 60th birthday party, the staff are very attentive and the food very tasty and different. Lovely room with doors into the garden. Would recommend it to anyone for a party.
Hotel was very welcoming, and the food at the lounge/bar was excellent, perhaps a little over priced. The room was very clean with a modern bathroom although a little small with no view, just a small featureless courtyard, but we booked very last minute. e comfortable but small. Bit noisy at night but that what you get when there was two weddings on at the same time, and the music went on until 1.00 am a bit late.
Stayed for 4 nights during my business trip. Hotel itself is in the middle of nowhere but if you need to stay close to Laceby or Grimsby then location is perfect. No traffic, big free car park and right outside of the hotel is roundabout with some main roads connection. Rooms are clean but in need of some modernisation and upgrade. Bed was comfy and there was a TV and iron in the room, that's it. No electric sockets around the bed so every morning need to jump from the bed to switch off alarm on my mobile phone charging on the table. Bathroom is OK but also outdated. Wi-Fi works well. The best part of this hotel is the restaurant. Buffer breakfast at the weekend and menu service at the weekdays. Had a dinner every night as it was quiet amazing, really tasty food and what a presentation. Not sure if I will stay again. Hotel is a bit updated and I also thought that reception staff wasn't great.
me and girlfriend stayed here for 1 night. Nice looking hotel we stayed in the building to the right which looks like an add on. room was good food breakfast was good staff very friendly and polite. booked online so got cheap ish.
Easy access to motorways with loads of free parking. A tranquil setting in large grounds. Rooms are large and well appointed. Professional and friendly staff who are happy to assist in any way they can to make your stay more enjoyable - definitely my favourite best western hotel
A friend and I booked tickets for this event and we were hoping for good weather as it was due to take place outdoors. Upon arrival the event was well organised and plenty of space outside for everyone. We picked a time slot to be served our afternoon tea and it arrived promptly. The food was lovely. Afternoon consisted of a mini hot dog and a mini burger, sausage roll, variety of sandwiches and scones, pastry and profiteroles with a yummy sauce. Drinks and snacks were served throughout the night and the staff were really polite and attentive. Lots of screens to watch the two films on. The only thing which would have made the night better was the weather (typical english summer- rain!) looking forward to attending again next year.
The staff at this hotel are excellent. However I am here on business. It's nearly 23:00 and there has been a "movie night" with huge PA systems playing at full volume from 18:00 tonight right outside my bedroom. Sleep/ reading / relaxing is impossible. ....is this a hotel? Very frustrating; poor judgement hosting this on a Wednesday night. Next time I will just make the 3 hour commute- I'll get more sleep.
We have a meal here the night before our wedding and the food was ecsquisit so so tasty and presented beautifully.....we agreed it was the best food we have had and we have visited many restaurant. Not only was the food good but the staff were excellent. The following day we had our wedding at the oaklands and we couldn't have wished for a more perfect day...all thanks to the well organised staff at the hotel, they were so accommodating but so friendly and made is feel comfortable throughout the whole day. Again the food was amazing and I would recommend the oaklands for any occasion. The rooms are also beautiful and clean!!
Today me and my friend visited the Comfy Duck restaurant and had a well over due afternoon tea. Well we were treated like royalty from the moment we walked in. The food and drinks was amazing, the price fantastic and the service was out of this world. It was about the little finishing touches such as informing us of what the little treats were at each stage, clean plates and cutlery and offering to take a photo of me and my friend together for our memories. We were always asked if everything was ok and when we asked if we could sit outside with a drink once we had finished the lady took us to a lovely table and brought us more drinks. Loved our visit and we shall certainly be visiting again! Thank you!
Just a one night stay to break a long drive home. Service was welcoming and friendly, the evening meal was first rate. The room was more than adequate but starting to show signs of wear and tear. Except for the slightly well worn decor, the hotel hit all the buttons that you would expect of a Best Western Hotel. We will probably use it again when next in the area.
Spent a week here on a business trip and found the hotel staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and spacious. The highlight of my visit was the restaurant situated in the hotel called the Comfy Duck where my taste buds were tickled until they screamed for mercy. If I ever come back to Lincolshire this is where I'll head first
Spent a weekend at Oaklands Hall for a family wedding. Stayed in the 'annexe' attached to the hotel. Room was fine but for two adults a bit squashed so would definitely upgrade if I stayed again. Air con was a fan in the wardrobe and for one of the hottest weekends in 2016 not nice. Very clean, staff were really good on the ball and the head man with the grey hair was so endearing funny efficient and so polite. Expect a lot of noise at weekends for events , weddings etc the main rooms are side on to the annexe and the music does go on up to 12 o'clock The grounds are superb for photos well kept good variety and ideal. The entrance just off the roundabout is deceiving . You think you are going into the garden centre and then veer left to the hall. The food is top of the class though Master chef quality and a welcome surprise This is one place we will visit again, easy reach of Cleethorps and the east coast
A very pleasant & welcoming hotel. Facilities for wedding parties are very good. Bedrooms have air conditioning, which is a must in the summer. Niggles: Past it's prime decor. Construction of someone else's photo booth during speeches!!
It has been many years since I visited the Oaklands and was pleasantly surprised at the improvements that have been made. I recently attended a wedding here and found the hotel and grounds delightful. The hotel is bright and airy and the staff are extremely polite and attentive. No shortage of bar facilities around the Churchill Room where this particular wedding was held. The terrace and gardens can be accessed from the Churchill room and is very pleasant on a warm evening. There is ample parking in front of the hotel within the grounds but the only criticism I would make is the long drive leading up to the hotel from the main road. It has not changed for many years and is only single track. An attempt has been made to put in one or two rough passing places and the effectiveness of these places is dependent upon the manners of the people using the drive. There is plenty of room to make the drive suitable for two way traffic and considering how popular this venue is, it should have been dealt with years ago.
Had a really lovely meal at the Comfy Duck recently, the service was prompt and courteous and the food of a very high standard. Loved the courgette flower stuffed with Mozzarella - delicious! We chose to stay over as they do a good DBB rate. Our room overlooked the picturesque garden and although there was a wedding function on we were entirely undisturbed by it. Well done to the team at the Oaklands, this place has changed so much in recent years if you haven't yet been to the Comfy Duck, well worth giving it a try!
Another delightful stay in our home from home. Room 55 offers the most amazing views of the grounds. We were slightly worried when we checked in as it was prom night hosted at the hotel. And cars were revving up the drive and the party goers crowding in the car park around our car. We were not pre warned about it... however I must say the amount of staff outside keeping everyone in check and cars flowing in and out of the drive was enough to reassure us all would be well as we left to go enjoy our evening out. The friendly greetings with our first names. And the lovely little touches were as always a pleasure and make us choose this hotel as our go to place to relax and unwind without having to travel for hours. Breakfast was as always ample and delicious. Poached eggs cooked to perfection and the waiting staff passing time of day both Geoff and jenna have a wonderful team and things just run so smoothly with them around. Keep up the good work
Stayed as part of a group. Large car park and you may get a room in the main hotel or annex, mine was in the annex which was about 10 metres from the hotel front door. Room was not that large and mainly occupied by a large comfortable bed. Small desk and chair, no air conditioning in the annex by I believe there is in at least some rooms in the main hotel. Bathroom was ok but the shower was not that powerful. Small bar area, when I asked for an ordinary whisky to go with some dry ginger they didn't have any behind the bar except for expensive malts but did offer to go and get one from the store. Dinner was better than average cooking but service was not fast. We were called in for dinner but it was still about half an hour before the first course was served. Reception staff were pleasant and effiicient. Price at £70 bed and breakfast was good. But it may be because we booked as a party of about 15. Wouldn't pay more than about £90 max though. Free wifi of a reasonable, but not fast, speed.
I got married to my gorgeous new hubby at The Oaklands yesterday and the day couldn't have been more perfect...aside from the beautiful venue itself the day ran so smoothly it was just unreal! Our Master Of Ceremonies, Richard De'Ath, was so in control of everything going on we were able to completely enjoy our day without a stress or a care in the world! He took care of everything and solved any problems before they even had chance to get to us!! An absolute star and a credit to the hotel, we are so grateful for everything he did and Rich made our day so so special!! X
We have visited the Oaklands many times usually with a large group of friends, the food is excellent and the service is first class. The hotel is situated in a very lovely quiet area with ample parking and the ambience is first class.
Had a great time (again!). This is the second time that I have visited the Oaklands and I can say that it will not be my last! Service was great from arrival to departure. The Chef excelled himself on the evening that we dined in the Resturant with a fantastic meal! A special thanks to Jenna who was attentive, engaging and entertaining throughout the evening. All in all, a great stay in comfortable accommodation with great staff and food. 10/10
Can highly recommend the Oakland Hall Hotel Afternoon Tea! It's a wonderful place for any occasion, I've visited this year to meet with friends, a celebration and family afternoon out. The beautiful grounds, attentive staff, ambience of the restaurant make the delicious afternoon tea a perfect experience. If you've not tried it, you must, you won't be disappointed!
We went to our friends evening reception at the Oaklands. Beautiful venue. Very good food, nice staff, stunning gardens and a fantastic young woman singing in the lounge area. What a fabulous place! Would definitely recommend it to couples thinking of an intimate venue can't imagine it being cheap but so worth it.
Had my 50th birthday meal here, the food was lovely the service from the waiting on staff was excellent nothing was too much trouble and Geoff the restaurant manager absolutely made our night he was brilliant from start to finish.we had also booked a room for the evening which was excellent with good facilities but there is a slight downside to my evening and that was that one member of staff totally ruined the end of our night this I believe was the night manager who totally humiliated my husband by requesting he prove he was a resident at the hotel this was after 11.30pm which I know you have to be a resident to order drinks we were and we had ordered several drinks by this time I understand that management have to watch who is obtaining drinks but he had seen us there all evening not only that rather than take my husband to one side he questioned him infront of a room full of people of gathered round my husband like he was an alien,my husband had had a lot to drink and at first thought he was joking and it wasn't till I walked to the bar to see what was going on that this was them sorted, all I can say is this particular member of staff was very arrogant and totally out of order in the way that he questioned my husband and maybe needs some customer service training.
I would like to thank all at Oaklands Hotel for making my daughter & son-in-law special day really special. All of the staff without exception were so attentive. They and all guests thoroughly enjoyed the day. My wife and I also stayed at the hotel for the first time over night, the room was very comfortable finished off with a nice breakfast on the Sunday morning. Once again thanks to all
Booked and paid a month advance and received a Conformation of Booking and Reservation Number but the night before I was due to check in I received a call to say that the hotel was over booked and that they were cancelling my booking. They had booked me into another hotel but had I have wished to stay there I would have booked it there myself. I was told they were cancelling my reservation as I was the last to both - a month before I don't think that was the case.
Wanted to stay at this hotel for a lot of years, and after staying overnight i dont think we will be going back. The prices of the food are quite expensive but they are good, although 2 of our party had steaks and said they wer tough. The overall cleanliness of the place let it down, tables wer sticky and cutlery mucky, and when i wanted to get a bath on the evening i noticed short dark hairs in the bath around the plug so didnt bother. The breakfast on the morning was also warm at best from the buffett. Overall good but good cleanliness is something expected wherever you go now, its an old building so i expect it to be a little worn down but no excuse for hairs in the bath and sticky tables! This really let it down.
We stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The hotel is in a lovely setting and the old part of the hotel has beautiful architecture. For us, the best part of our stay was the evening meal, all of which was cooked to absolute perfection. The staff who served us were great; especially Jenna, who made us feel very welcome. There was a wedding reception taking place, which was nice to see, especially given our own celebrations. The room with the disco in was very well sound proofed, so didn't affect our meal in any way. Our only disappointment was that the guests were allowed to make lots of noise inside and outside the hotel until around 3am, which was a bit much.
we called the other day after driving passed on odd occasions for many years . What a lovely place , main part of hotel which we were in was lovely , they seamed to have kept many original features of the place and mingled it in with modern colour schemes , it all worked well . From stepping through the nice entrance hall , every member of staff spoke to us , we were shown into the comfy duck resturant , which was fairly busy considering it was gone 2.30 pm , we had a lovely waitress who's name I have forgotten ( sorry ) were drinks were promptly served , followed by one of our party had a nice thick piece of gammon , chips and egg , the other had local sausage ( 4 of them ) served on a bed of mash with caramelised oinions and green beans and broccoli spears and peas . I had the chicken ceaser salad with rosemary pan fried potatoes which were delicious , The salad was fantastic , I know that sounds a daft thing to say salads, salad lol But it had large fresh salad leaves with two lovely breasts of chicken just nicely browned on the top . Anchovies , croutons , paramasan shavings hard boiled eggs and a lovely dressing dribbled over it . Delicious , we all thought it was great , staff very at tentative and polite , with drinks it was around £47.00 next time we are in the area we will do a detour to the comfy duck . They all so have special event nights and weekend that sounded good , jazz evenings , movie days
Cannot fault the restaurant, food and service were spot on, great menu. Made me one if the best martini espresso's I've ever had too. Would definitely recommend for a cosy meal, lots of vacant couples not saying a word to each other to have fun looking at!!
A very pleasant hotel experience for two nights away on business. Extremely helpful staff, good food and comfortable rooms in a hotel with character. The grounds are lovely and the hotel is within easy reach of the town centre
My wife and I have just spent two nights at Oakland's Hall. When we arrived two weddings were taking place but there were no delays checking in. We were on bed and breakfast basis but also had dinner in the hotel both nights which we really enjoyed and can strongly recommend. Our room was at the back of the hotel and was very quiet despite the number of guests. The only issue I have is that there is no lift making it difficult for those with mobility problems getting up the two flights of stairs to rooms on the first floor. Having said that, I would certainly stay at this hotel again.
Just stayed here for the evening celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary we booked a executive room it was wonderful the décor was really lovely the bathroom was really large with a amazing corner bath it was exceptionally clean it was a shame we only stayed one night we also booked to have a meal in the comfy duck restaurant wonderful food and really great staff will definitely be returning again
I was delighted with the quality and appearance of the hotel. My room was very nicely furnished and I had a room service meal that was very good (the home made burger - excellent). I would have no hesitation in going back and it was very good value to boot!
I found the hotel very comfortable and the staff very polite and helpful. The food was very good and the service first class. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again should I be in this part of the country.
From the moment we arrived (50+ of us) we were greeted by a very welcoming and professional staff whose service went way beyond the star rating for this hotel-stayed two nights, very comfy bed in a well laid out en-suite room and excellent food. Breakfast is hearty and limitless with a very good set menu for the group in the evening-we were even allowed to bring our own band! would recommend this to anyone staying in the area and when we return will try the very highly rated restaurant.
We stayed here for our anniversary and was very impressed with the service, the stunning feature room and the price!! we booked a meal at the comfy duck restaurant which is on the ground floor and that was stunning too! definitely coming again!
This hotel is excellent value for money, has a very good restaurant with a talented chef. Staff are an absolute pleasure and are very polite and attentive. I stayed in one of the four poster rooms, very clean and decorated sensitively with a beautiful view of the garden and drive. Visits here are a pleasure.
Can't comment on the accommodation as visit was an "off chance meal" but I can say the whole place appears to be upgraded - very nice public rooms / bar. Staff very welcoming and attentive but not over the top, meal well presented and enjoyable, nice to be offered a selection of 'different' breads and also the provision of water on the table without having to request or pay for. On the whole an enjoyable experience.
Do not stay at this hotel if you want a relaxing night sleep. The central heating system made a noise all night and the pillows were like bricks. In the end I placed a towel inside the pillowcase to allow some comfort. I tried to call reception 4 times throughout the night and early hours of the morning, to only get through to an automated voicemail for Best Western company itself. I left a voicemail at 2:30am and did not receive a reply. The food was very bland in the restaurant on the evening and not worth the price.
Location is good, easily accessible, hotel looks very nice externally and didn't disappoint internally. Rooms are ok, bathrooms need to be modernised but quality of the food is fabulous - enjoy! Must try the interestingly flavoured ice creams and fish and chips are a must.
Back here again to visit family locally and the hotel is just as good as my last review. Comfortable and tidy rooms - quiet even though wedding going on at the same time. Nice views across the countryside and efficient and pleasant reception service.
Had a meal at the comfy duck having visited before and have not god a bad word to say the staff are so polite and offer a service like no other. my and my partner was more then impressed well worth a visit.
We were warmly welcomed on arrival and directed to our room. (In the extension) The room was a reasonable size with enough shave to get around. (Double room) Bathroom was a good size. Would have been good to have two sets of towels given that we had booked for 2 adults. We were there to meet with lots of family and the two buffet meals that the hotel put on were excellent. Plenty of food, very good quality. Breakfast the next morning was equally as good with a cook to order English breakfast. Would definitely go again if in the area.
We stayed here on Monday 21st of March, and what can I say from arrival the staff on reception were friendly and attentive, even informing us we could order breakfast in bed, we then had a meal in the comfy Duck, where again the staff were superb and the meal was exquisite, not to mention the brilliant cocktails, all topped off with a room that was comfy, tastefully decorated, and to a fabulous standard ! This is our first visit but won't be our last ! Thank you this is somewhere not to be missed
really lovely afternoon tea..and not a sandwich in sight! very tasty.. diverse and something for everyone. there wasn't a scrap left. one of our party has had tea at the ritz and said the savouries were better and the sweets on par. very good value.
We recently stayed here whilst visiting family in the area. We were able to check in early as our room was ready. The receptionist was very helpful and asked if we had booked a table in the restaurant in the evening as we were on a BB basis. We hadn't booked and although they were extremely busy we got a table sorted. We had booked an executive room which was very spacious and nicely decorated. We had lunch in the hotel which was lovely and big portions. The evening meal was also very good the only problem was getting a drink as the barman was on his own and over worked. Jenna the restaurant manager was lovely and very helpful. We are returning again in May and am thinking of booking afternoon tea and will also book an evening meal again.
Had a lovely stay, really relaxed and the staff and the food were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble.I was made to feel very welcome and valued as a customer. Room was spacious and welcoming. Would def. stay again.
This is not the place to come to if you want to impress your partner with an impressive drive through a gated entrance along a winding access road up to a Country Manor House Hotel. The facade of this hotel has been ruined by the construction of a carbuncle of an extension built onto the front of the left wing of the house and so making the final approach to it completely spoilt by its ugliness. The inside too has been ruined by the unkind introduction of stud walls forming and dividing what were beautiful large rooms to create spaces that have destroyed the 'olde worlde' feel of the Manor House. The accommodation however in 'the carbuncle' is acceptable and is just like staying in a modern hotel room at a major airport hotel. There was not enough shelf space in the very nice bathroom for two peoples' wash bags and their contents. An issue I have with almost every hotel room's bathroom in which I stay! The food this hotel served was excellent. The dinner was superb and the breakfast was one of the best I have had in a hotel. Non buffet breakfast cooked to order and served to your table was a delight. The 'serve yourself' toasting machine produced the best toast I have ever had from one of those infernal contraptions and so contributed to a very enjoyable breakfast experience. This hotel certainly does not let the 'Best Western' brand down, it's just unfortunate that the Country Manor House 'feel' has been destroyed by an unsympathetic extension and interior alterations.
I stayed on Valentine's night and I could not get a table in the restaurant. The staff sat me in the television lounge and served me dinner there, They could not have been more helpful. The food was excellent, my room was small but very comfortable. The hole was quiet. Very good value for money
We had a wonderful meal at this lovely hotel. Served by Jenna who is super professional, charming and friendly we throughly enjoyed our lunch and will always go to Oaklands when in town. Set in a beautiful building the food was generous in portion size and delicious. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were all so friendly and good at what they do. Don't miss out on this impressive experience!
Last year my partner and I attend the valentines ball and we enjoyed the fantastic food and entertainment so we decided to do again it was definately worth the money great food great service and really enjoyable evening
Recently stayed here for 1 night during business trip. Didn't know what to expect as it was booked by corporate travel team. It was dark when I checked but it was lit up and looked beautiful from the outside. Check in was smooth and room was on first floor which was accessed by grand staircase adjacent to main entrance. Room was clean, tidy and spacious with decent size bathroom and TV. Iron & board in room. Had lovey restaurant which was busy but not noisy, food was good and had separate bar. Check out was quick and smooth. Hotel is approx 10 minutes away from Humberside Airport. Would definitely stay here again.
An impromptu visit last night to celebrate my niece passing her driver theory test. I had the surf and turf. I asked for the steak to be crispy on the outside and medium to rare in the middle. This was executed to perfection resulting in without doubt one of the best meals I ever had. The house wine was excellent and the service from the attentive staff was exceptional. I have waited a long time for a meal like that. Thanks to you all.
We attended a function in the Garden Room, and it provided a very attractive and most suitable venue for a 'mid sized' do. It seemed well organised by well managed staff, so service was prompt, and polite. The food was pretty good really. Pate better than the soup, and (unlike last year's event at the same place), the unusual block of beef was very tender and tasty. Desserts were all good. Just a shame they seemed to forget to serve the coffee and mints??
Excellent hotel for real value for money and more. Caring, friendly staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Excellent food. Comfortable beds, free Wifi. A pleasurable stay despite only being there to attend a funeral. Wouldn't hestitate to return if in the area again.
This is big old Victorian country house but public rooms and my room were tastefully modern. The restaurant has a good local reputation and is busy, despite being a touch on the pricey side. I'd estimate 3 courses at £35-40. Way better than a modern chain hotel. Staff excellent. Happy to return.
We love visiting the comfy duck and visit often since our first initial visit in September 2015. because of that a birthday treat of a sleep over in the hotel to really indulge was arranged. I've had many wonderful birthdays but none as lovely and relaxing as this. Initially there was some confusion at check in as we arranged an early check in and late check out but once the receptionist came out she had it all in hand sorry I didn't grab your name but your professional and personal approach made us feel welcomed to a home from home. Like an old friend was returning. Thank you so much. At the heart of a good business is a fantastic team and that's exactly what you have here at the oaklands. It's not often I don't find any dirt in a room the room we had was room 57 and it was spotless not a speck of dust anywhere and a comfy bed what more could you ask for? Top marks to housekeeping. It's beautifully furnished the staff are wonderful! Really attentive. By far the best in the area. The heart and soul of the hotel is the restaurant The comfy duck. And since our first visit it's wonderful to see that Jenna is in a more senior role her service as always was impeccable. She is truly a credit to to company and the staff in the restaurant are so wonderful thanks Ben for keeping the drinks flowing. The extra added touches made everything simply amazing I can't belive the official rating is only a 3* this hotel is worthy of at least a 4* rating the service is fantastic and by far outshines any others in the area. For business for pleasure or just to bolt away for a pecauful nights sleep this hotel caters for all. It's a hidden gem to everyone that played a part in my stay I thank you wholeheartedly i had a truly wonderful birthday. Extra thanks to the chef & Jenna for sorting my special happy birthday pudding please see photos. We will be back very soon
We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Matt and all the staff at the Oaklands Hall Hotel for the wonderful day we had celebrating our wedding. Matt and the staff were fantastic, attentive, polite and everything ran very smoothly. A massive thank you to the chefs the food was fabulous including the family meal we had the night before. Thank to Jeffery for his excellent hospitality too. We would especially like to say thank you to Matt for all his time and effort prior to and during the day for making it such a special day. We would have no hesitation in using Matts services again and recommending the Oaklands Hall Hotel in the future. Happy New Year to you and the staff.
I recently went to a function at the Oaklands hotel, the food was divine however. . . waiting was FANTASTICO!!! I was served by three people throughout the course of the evening, two females and one male. The Male was rude and quite inconsiderate however my two females caught our eyes. They were both willing to b as helpful as possible. We asked for a jug of cream an moments later it was brought. Desserts were brought out while I was at the bathroom, and when a large male waiter ( the same rued inconsiderate one as before) took it away. I asked two females on separate occasions to see if this mistake could be rectified, neither making an attempt to rectify this mistake so I further asked another young lady and she apologised and within minutes brought me another. She was very helpful throughout the evening. I saw that multiple people had tried to tip her throughout the evening and these tips were put straight in a pot for all the others, this is not fair. I did ask the name of these two young females; Grace and Chelsea. I was willing to tip £25 however when I was told that it would go in a tips pot for shaing, I put my money away. So if you are ever at the Oaklands for a function, and you are served by a Grace or a Chelsea, Comment on how well they are serving you (if they still ar, which with no doubt they will be)- they will appreciate your comments !! Overall Food 4* Service (the two girls ) 5* (everyone else) 2* entertainment 4*
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left the hotel, we have nothing but praise for each and every one of the Staff They were courteous and efficient at all times. It was an absolute pleasure. We attended the Ultimate Legends Show, which included a Christmas meal, a glass of fizz on arrival was very much appreciated, the Garden Room was decorated beautifully for Christmas. The Manager knew what each and everyone had ordered for their meals, which arrived promptly, very well presented, very very tasty and hot, The Chef had done a brilliant job. The show was brilliant too, Andy Wood as Tom Jones and Bon Jovi and Monique Mitchell Wood as Kylie and Pink were fantastic as always. We stayed over too, the room was very nice too and breakfast the next morning, delicious. So all in all a brilliant stay, fantastic staff and food. Highly recommend.
Visited this venue for a works Christmas party event, with meal and entertainment. What a wonderful evening! Entertainment was excellent with ultimate legends tribute acts, plenty of audience participation and dancing to be had. Ever dubious about mass produced menus, The meals were superb, excellent quality meat ( no cheap processed produce as with some venues) vegetables cooked to perfection and not mush! It was hot, plentiful in size and served to all parties quickly and efficiently. The venue was decorated with immense attention to detail, with the huge Christmas tree a beautiful feature in reception . Our party of very mixed age ranges, left this party feeling very festive, with full bellies and tired dancing feet. Will definitely re-book for next year.
Went for afternoon tea here, the amount I have served, in 2 & 1 Rosette restaurants but never actually had the alternative experience of enjoying it myself. The idea of a seasonal afternoon tea was awesome, Steve and his team have always cooked great food so thank you for afternoon tea guys, the only quarm I had with the food was the macaroon, it was very undercooked however I wasn't sure whether it was supposed to be like this as it did state honey puree in the mix on the description, however I have never seen a macaroon in that manner...... Everything else was real nice.... Turkey roulade was great ( I hate turkey) but that was real nice....... Service......??? Melted and greeted by Jeff, very friendly as always so was good to see him, swiftly took the order, Aaron on the bar came over for a quick chat which was nice, it's good to see confidence and knowledge has increased :). However we didn't get a checkback until after we had finished, at this point it doesn't matter if there was sumin wrong or not as it's finished....... If you do checkbacks you catch any challenges...... Not everyone will get the attention to inform people they are not happy with something....... After we finished me and my friend waited 25 minutes for the afternoon tea to be cleared before we got out drinking tea....... Waitress was kicking a knife across restaurant as it was dropped, perhaps come back for it? Put whatever it is in your hand down, pick the knife up? Appreciate places get busy I have developed myself over the units in this industry, but staff talking at bar for about 10 minutes whilst guests are waiting to be seen to? .... So definitely room for improvement..... Was nice on the way out that Barry the general manager asked how things where, I informed him we enjoyed the food, so thanks to Barry as well :). I'll be back to try the evening menu, just hope service is as good as the food next time...... (my apologies about the side plate)
Went to birthday party here, stayed the night, room cosy & compact, bathroom was adequate, all areas clean & tidy. Meal at party good, found it difficult at times to hear the speeches, as load music just outside door of venue near reception, but appreciated that he had a break for 30mins, so more speeches could go ahead. Sat morning buffet breakfast, very slow at restocking the buffet, because what I had on my plate was going cold, I didn't bother waiting for it to be restocked, too long
Attended at the oaklands hotel for works nite out, excellent food and excellent location within the garden room. Staff and facilities excellent would defo recommend this location for a works night out. Stayed in B and B and luxury followed by fantastic breakfast????
Fantastic food and such a quiet location I slept in and missed breakfast. A real shame as breakfast was great last time. The scotch egg starter is a must. Must be one of the best locations in the Grimsby area
Food is amazing and all the staff have been very helpful and very welcoming at all times. Fantastic hotel. Great service and lovely people. The rooms are spacious and clean. The views are lovely also. Room service is very efficient and staff as always very nice.
This review is a little late, but that's because I was too early with it, following a review of the hotel's restaurant. Now it's a little late, but better late than never. I booked a table for six people back on the 2nd of September to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary, and although I missed an offer on their August monthly email, I asked the manager if I could take advantage of this. He said to call back in a couple of days, and he would have an answer. To my amazement, I was able to have the August offer! After the evening meal, which was superb I might add, my wife and I had a room with breakfast, for just £1 extra. The room was very comfortable, very clean and we had a good nights sleep. In the morning, we were able to have a full breakfast which was delicious, and all for just £1. How good is that ?!!! I must say, that the whole experience was a delight, and I say that with much experience of British hotels, as in my former working life, doing over 35000 miles a year, I have stayed in a large variety of hotels. The Oaklands is a bit special I have to say, and I'm sure the Best Western franchise company are more than happy with it too. The Cumfy Duck restaurant is an excellent place to eat, although I have said this in a previous review. The Manager there, Jeff, is a fantastic guy, and will make you feel special, no matter who you are! Try it out, you won't be dis-appointed.
We have stayed here previously and had a very good experience, so much so we were looking forward to this trip. The reception when arrived was good and the room was very nice, being clean and well stocked with all mod cons. The hotel on this occasion was busy with Christmas parties and weddings, as well as dealing with routine guests, and due to this I believe was not able to cope well. Numerous mistakes were made, food was served cold / overcooked / undercooked , orders did not arrive. The quality of the food and service were down from our previous experience. Good experienced staff rescued the situation on a number of occasions. Which compensated for others that left a tad to be desired The bar area was inadequately staffed and on a number of occasions no one was there to serve and they ran out of a number of staples. We would go again, but ensure its not so busy next time so we can experience what it was previously
We had our wedding at the Oakland's, and my wife's 50th the following day. The day was awesome, went so smoothly. The service, food, both day and evening, were excellent. The planning and organising by our master of ceremonies, Matt King, and his team, ensured the day went exactly as planned, a massive thank you.
We celebrated our daughter's 18th birthday with 20 family and friends in the private lounge last Sunday. It was a perfect afternoon, excellent food and service in a lovely setting with a relaxed atmosphere. Everyone is still talking about it, especially the food. Thank you Oaklands Hall Hotel x
Booked the oaklands hotel for my wedding anniversary/husbands birthday after having previously visited a few months before for an excellent afternoon tea. Looked online and saw there was a deal on for a dinner bed and breakfast package. Bonus! The room.. we booked an exective room which was Lovely, comfortable, and scrupulously clean. Couldn't fault it in anyway. The comfy duck...wow!!! Apart from the food being amazing, the service was second to non. We were greated by Jenna, who I had met on a previous visit there, who despite serving hundreds of customers since, recognised me! I must of mentioned somewhere in my email when booking the table that it was my wedding anniversary as during the meal Jenna brought over two glasses of bubbly and wished us a happy anniversary, such a lovely touch which almost had me tears! This was then followed by some lovely flowers again with a happy anniversary wish. Breakfast...we ordered breakfast in bed so we could relax and take things at our own pace during the morning. The breakfast arrived exactly at the time we had specified. Again the quality of food was excellent, and arrived piping hot despite travelling across the hotel. Overall...what an excellent weekend! Being a student nurse and money being tight I found the dinner bed and breakfast deal fantastic value. The staff made us feel like we were really welcome and valued. The attention to detail and the personal touches made by Jenna and the staff in the comfy duck really made a difference. We shall definatly be returning!
My parents recently held their Diamond wedding anniversary celebration at the Oaklands - and to say it went well is an understatement, its success is in no small part resulting from the magnificent efforts of the wonderful and attentive staff. Special thanks don't just go to Vikki and Chris, who were just fantastic and who went above and beyond, but to everyone who waited on us - more or less hand and foot - throughout our weekend stay. I honestly don't know how they did it without any fluster whatsoever, but it's obvious that a great deal of effort has gone into staff selection and staff training. WOW, well done to you all! And thank you very much. On the food side, the buffet was also of excellent quality, and varied too (many commented to me on how good it was). Reasonably priced as well. Great staff, great venue, great evening. Go to the Oaklands, in my view, you'll not regret it.
Stayed here for a family anniversary party in the garden room our bedroom was fine but bed was little lumpy quite thin walls so as there was also a wedding in hotel the noise at night was ongoing into early hours fab breakfast all the staff are great and helpful would stay again
Recently went for a meal 8 of us service not great plates left on tables once finished eating for over 40 mins. Food was ok although not all correct when served. Hopefully if we go again we will have a better time
I frequently stay in this hotel for business purpose and cannot commend the staff highly enough. They are extremely helpful and accommodating and so polite too. The room service is also excellent, particularly the grilled haddock - well done Chef for such tasty food!
We visited this hotel for an overnight package that included afternoon tea, murder mystery with dinner and overnight stay. Shortly after checking in, we went into the restaurant, as we had reserved a table for afternoon tea for 2.30pm. Unfortunately, our name wasn't on the list of reservations which was very surprising as we had booked by telephone over 3 months earlier. This had been confirmed by the hotel in an email and also confirmed by us when we wrote to the hotel with our dinner choices and settled the remainder of the bill. However, the young staff said they would sort a table for our party of 6. At 3pm we were shown to our table, but the afternoon tea didn't arrive until around 3.20pm - quite some time later than our preferred booking time of 2.30pm. We found we had to ask for actual tea and coffee, as these weren't offerred, although cups and saucers were set out on the table. We had already eaten the savoury items before we caught the attention of a young waiter who seemed quite surprised when we requested hot drinks! We enjoyed the variety of items on the afternoon tea, along with a glass of pink cava - it was presented nicely. Surprisingly, we weren't offerred extra teas or coffees, nor did anyone enquire as to whether everything was okay. Maybe this is due to poor staff training or just the inexperience of younger staff. Following this, we sat in the bar and ordered a bottle of bubbly cava. It was placed on the table in front of us, but as the waiter was about to walk away, one of us asked if he was going to open the bottle. He replied that he would if we would like him to! Did he really think we were going to open it ourselves - its not just a screw top bottle. The bar at the murder mystery event was a bit chaotic, as the staff seemed unsure of how to operate the tills, and we had to wait ages whilst they managed to sort this out. We had already preordered wine for the table but even after being seated for a considerable length of time, the bottles weren't brought to us and we had to go and ask. At the end of the night, I went to settle the bill for the wine, but again the staff couldn't find the items on the tills and had to involve a manager. The actual murder mystery went on too long and the size and layout of the room doesn't really lend itself to this type of event when half of the people there aren't in the main room - ourselves included. We missed out on what was happening and at times couldn't hear the actors, especially if they didn't have a mic or weren't using it correctly! Others we were sat with said they had been to 2 previous murder mysteries at the Oaklands which were much better. We have enjoyed others elsewhere, that were also much better. The food was okay, nothing special but mostly enjoyable apart from the parkin sponge - that was totally dried out and a huge disappointment. It tasted days old. Breakfast was tasty and self service with plenty of tea and coffee on offer. Our rooms were good with all the usual facilities - I particularly liked the heated bathroom mirror that didn't steam up when you took a shower! We were pleased to have stayed at the event til almost the end as our rooms were obviously above the event as the music was extremely loud. There was a strange and annoying humming/fan noise from outside of the room, on and off, til about 2 am. We couldn't sleep until this had stopped. Having said all this, we enjoyed our stay, particularly because of the company of our friends but also it was nice to be away from home relaxing, wining and dining. The Oaklands is just missing that attention to detail.
Thank you to everyone who presented the super Villa Sandi Prosecco taster evening on Friday 30th October. I attended with a group of friends. - we quite often attend the champagne evenings so this was a great event! A four course fine dining menu presented by Stephen Bennett and his team complimented by Villa Sandi Prosecco tasting. Thank you for our Villa Sandi exclusive flutes!
Yet another pleasant stay at this hotel. Stayed in room 42 which had been well prepared. Used the restaurant for Sunday lunch, all the staff were very attentive especially. The food was very good, the portions were huge. The choice on offer for breakfast was also very good, buffet breakfast on Sunday, cooked to order breakfast during the week. The only negative aspect is having to walk through the smokers, who congregate by the main entrance, to get to the annex!
The hotel is lovely, once you turn the corner and see the hotel it is beautiful. The entrance is impressive and I'm sure looks fabulous for wedding pictures. Lots of parking and it is outside of the town. We had a lovely spacious room looking out on the gardens at the back of the hotel. Room's and bathroom were all very clean as was the hotel itself. The food in the restaurant The Comfy Duck was fantastic and amazingly good value, the let down here was the majority of staff apart from 2 that were serving were fairly useless, we had several staff members attend our table over the course of the meal and yet we waited nearly an hour for our desert even though several of us asked many times for it. This wasn't any better the following day either unfortunately.
Nice hotel, very friendly staff. Lovely room, nice and clean but far too hot. Unbearable heat even though no radiators seemed to be on. Window only opened a small way. Fan was provided so we had to have it on full blast both nights even though it was October and chilly outside. Good deal on Sunday night with 2 course meal for 2 with bottle of wine for set price of £30. Service and meal was excellent. Breakfast was good also.
My husband and I have stayed overnight on a few occasions in the past year and always felt well looked after. The Comfy Duck is great for afternoon tea, excellent evening meals and a very good cooked breakfast, all served either in the comfortable restaurant or outside on their pleasant sun terrace. An excellent venue. The Manager obviously ensures that all the staff are well trained. They are considerate & conscientious. We have found this hotel is great to just get away from it all and relax. We plan to stay again very soon. Thank you for the flowers for our anniversary. And a big thanks to the General Manager for providing such a fantastic Hotel.
Very good hotel with attentive staff. Good hotel fare too. Rooms were of adequate size with a desk for working. I have had much bigger at BW before, but this was fine for what I needed. Breakfast was good, though I would have liked some fresh fruit to take with me for my journey each day. Bedroom temp was easily adjusted to my needs.
Had a lovely meal with a couple of friends, very nice food and the waitress annaliese was very polite and professional and was also very friendly, had such a brill night and never had to wait when we wanted to order, it was a fantastic night and will be going again, very lovely place to go :)
Wonderful Hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The food was absolutely fantastic and worth every penny. I would highly recommend it. If you are just eating in the restaurant book in advance to avoid disappointment as it is very popular.
Came here for food to celebrate a friends birthday. We all booked into the hotel in order to drink and fully relax. The staff were friendly, polite and professional. The food was delicious in the evening. I had duck for my main which was cooked to perfection. The venue is beautifully decorated, the grounds are immaculate and an ideal setting for a wedding or other special occasion. Our room was clean and included all the basics you might need on your stay including shampoos, shower gels and body lotion which I was grateful for as is packed in a hurry and forgotten these items. Breakfast in the morning was buffet style, plenty to choose from and well made. Can't fault this place and hope to return soon!
We held our wedding here this Saturday and I can not fault the location, the room, and utterly applaud the food and staff, most notably Ben who was excellent. Anyone thinking of a small intimate wedding, please consider The Oaklands, Longs Lounge as I now have amazing memories of my wedding day. Thank you
the staff and the food are amazing - the bedding, particularly the pillows could do with renewing - a slightly uncomfortable first night until i went and bought my own pillows. Good location, close to the city
As a big fan of The Oaklands Hotel and The Comfy Duck restaurant I had no hesitation in choosing it as the venue for my 60th Birthday celebration on September 10th. Our party of 18 family members and friends was the perfect number for the Longs Lounge which was ours for the evening. In fact we had access to the room during the afternoon to put our own touches to the table and to place name cards and balloons etc.The evening was absolutely perfect! Many thanks to the Chef and his team for the beautiful food which was just so delicious, as always. A huge thank you to Jeff who was our Master of Ceremonies for the evening. I can't tell you how much I appreciated your attention to detail and your warmth and your sense of humour. You contributed hugely to the success of the evening and I thank you for that. Many thanks to the waiting staff too. Finally thank you to the reception staff who managed our pre-orders, room reservations and who answered all of our questions in the preceding few weeks. To anyone planning a celebration I would absolutely recommend The Oaklands! Kind regards, Jeanette and Ian
