The room was clean and comfortable. There was ample tea and coffee supplies. The bathroom was compact with a shower. I had difficulty in regulating the temperature of the shower the water was very hot. The only complaint I had for the room was that there was a constant humming from a generator. I would definitely visit again as i thought it was good value for money with a great beach front location
Lovely hotel right next to and overlooking the beech, although you will pay a little more if you want a sea view, some rooms can be a little small but perfectly clean and functional ,buffet breakfast is lovely , although they may resort to table service if the hotel is quiet, staff are lovely and attentive, it's a very calming hotel, nothing is rushed, the stay was reasonably priced, as well, ithink if you join there rewards scheme, you may be upgraded room wise, certainly worth a visit,
Worst hotel now being refurbished but taking in clients! Breakfast is not included and some staff are rude. The hotel is a maze of staircases and it is difficult to find your room. Very expensive in spite of all this. Only good thing is the sea front!
I expected a high standard from a Best Western hotel. There was no sign on the hotel to indicate that it was even a BW. The room wasn't heated and the light flickered in the room. There was no shower curtain and the water was tepid. The jacuzzi bath left a layer of sand in the bottom of the bath when used. The room had clearly been recently renovated as the carpet was new but there had been no attention to detail. There were holes in the bathroom floor and electrical wires masking taped to the wall in the bedroom. The breakfast was mediocre and fairly tasteless.
The room was huge and the bed was comfortable. The room was clean and had a lovely view over the seafront. However there was no fridge or safe. A fridge would have been useful especially as there was no restaurant facilities other than breakfast. There was a bar but this was never opened and so we tended to stay in our room. Parking is a lottery. If you are lucky enough to get parking, that you pay £6 a day for, then some idiot parks illegally making it difficult to get in and out. The staff however were polite and friendly. Helpful if you needed anything. It is a good place to base yourself. Lovely walks along the front. Plenty of places to eat out. Easy walk into the town centre. Lots of National Trust and other places to visit around the area. Quick and easy to get onto the motorway. No sign on the hotel only one at the start of Morton Crescent, but as there are other hotels there you're not sure you're in the right place The room was quite hot and the only window that opened had a restricter on it stopping it opening to get any breeze in
Great position facing south a few metres from the beach with sea view rooms having a fabulous view of the bay. Also a 5 minute flat walk from the town centre, marina and about 10 minutes from the train station. Also has plenty of parking close by (£6 per day).
Absolutely appalling to find such small rooms. No security cameras outside, my car was parked directly outside the front door of the hotel and was damaged by another vehicle, when notified, the staff were totally uninterested, and didn't even come out to inspect the damage. Will not be recommending. No bar no amenities other than your room, overall a crap experience.
Would recommend visitors upgrade to a superior room, as standard rooms are too small for two people. The breakfast is very good, superb well cooked hot food, this we enjoyed. The staff were attentive and friendly. There are no other facilities, as this is a bed and breakfast hotel only.
We chose this hotel as Best Western has a good reputation but we were really disappointed. First of all, the room was tiny as was the bathroom, there was just enough space for one person to walk round the bed. The bed itself was small, definitely not a 4'6” double. The room was cold and the radiator wasn't working (presumably the heating hadn't been turned on yet for the autumn) but the receptionist did bring up a heater for us. The breakfast was ok, nothing great and the bar was never open. On the plus side, the location is good, right on the seafront and not far from the town centre or station. The rooms were clean and the staff friendly. I wouldn't stay here again.
I've stopped in best western hotels many times and think this is what you would call their budget version, bed was a 3quarter not double as advertised, rooms were clean and tidy and towels and coffee changed each day restaurant only open for breakfast and bar was always closed
First up, had we paid the price we saw our ‘Superior' room for the next day and not top whack we'd have been much happier. But we didn't and felt a bit cheated, it certainly wasn't worth £170 even including breakfast. The room was as it was described, large with a sea view. If only the room was as impressive as the view. The bed, although a double was quite small while wardrobe, bedside tables and table looked very cheap and were no way in keeping with a ‘superior' room, just a little bit of effort in that respect would go a long way. Which leads me to the other thing, is a hotel even a hotel if they can't be bothered to open the bar? The staff were very polite but I did fear the worst when asked to pay before seeing the room. On the plus side, these types of hotel, Victorian and past their glory years are hard to maintain but cleanliness certainly wasn't an issue, top marks in that respect. Breakfast was all self service and plentiful and OK without being better than average. Parking was also an issue, we had to park in the street as the hotel carpark was full, it's free overnight, but you'd better get out there and put up to £6 the machine at 9am, the traffic warden was there just after, even on a Sunday. Like I said at the beginning, had I paid the cheap rate, almost half what we did that was available the day we checked out you'd be OK with it. If you are looking for a real treat or a wow factor you won't get it here, but it's a three star hotel so you get what you pay for, a perfectly nice place for a short stay in Exmouth, just make sure you get it at the right price.
Hotel was ok . Room was tiny .. shower water was boiling hot bathroom so small things falling off the wall .. tv tiny and remote wasn't working .. no bar to even grab a coffee or some water we came for an anniversary birthday but definitely not worth the £200 to stay and won't be booking again
Positives - clean and functional. Good location Negatives - no atmosphere, no bar, tiny room Conclusion - it was fair for the price we paid and only one night. I couldn't have stayed longer being honest but was functional and clean. Limited facilities. Travelled with child. Would suit older people better.
I booked through booking .com. This hotel doesn't honour any genius rewards. Parking is £6 per day but anyone can park so your paid for space might be taken then you have to argue the toss. The standard room was so small and depressing , I paid extra to upgrade to a sea view room. The view was great. Everything else in the “hotel” was very disappointing. No bar, no restaurant, no ice, we had to buy our own drinks and ice from a supermarket. This property is just a big B&B , and as l had paid £302 already , I wasn't going to pay an extra £48 for breakfasts. So the location is great but that's all. The bed was a standard double and so small, the duvet was heavy and the room was hot as the windows are screwed shut. I took the duvet cover off to sleep cooler and found it was really stained. The bathroom was small and the shower was far too small. Getting in is ok. Getting out, to open the door means you have to watch you don't touch a hot water pipe, and the water wasnt draining out of the tray as the drain is dirty. So little attention is paid to detail that I would never return or recommend.
Oh my the filth especially the bathrooms first room 23 was disgusting. £120 Per night without Breakfast. Total rip off - we refused to stay in that room and was given another room which was larger and on first sight looked OK but my the filth and dirt in the shower area proved so bad we were unable to shower in there. We couldn't wait to leave. Come on cleanliness should be at the top of your agenda.
Friendly staff, lovely breakfast. Enough said. Avoid the car park unless you have a small car. Bathroom awful and huge bedroom needs updating. Great position on the seafront, but is overpriced for what it is . I would never stay in this hotel again!
Our stay at Best Western Exmouth Beach was disappointing. The room itself was so-so. The picture hanging on the wall still had plastic wrap on it and the shower had a protective plastic covering on the corner of the glass, suggesting it had recently been decorated but not quite finished. The chair in the room didn't match the decor and resembled something you might find in a medical waiting room. The window was covered in bird poo and other marks - I don't think it had been cleaned for some time! We found a crisp on the floor behind the curtain. The provision of bathroom amenities was insufficient for two guests. The absence of hooks in the room meant there wasn't anywhere but the wardrobe to hang coats etc. Breakfast was OK - coffee was in conference room style urns which were difficult to use. Table was wobbly and decor was dated. The hotel had limited parking available and a confusing and poorly managed system. We were initially told we could park in any space with a cone but were subsequently met with a rude response when we did so. Contradictory instructions from different staff members regarding the movement of cones - we were allowed to park there, but after the receptionist had been rude to us. Overall we felt that the service and amenities offered were simply not worth the price we paid £150 per night. It's worth noting that we weren't the only ones to express dissatisfaction; another guest openly voiced their disappointment with the hotel during breakfast. Our suggestion would be to find a different hotel for your stay in Exmouth!
Great location, had a room with a sea view too . The place was spotlessly clean and breakfast was terrific, I forgot to ask what brand their coffee was as it was delicious. No problems parking for us either. If we were returning to Exmouth for another visit we'd definitely be back here.
Warm welcome able to check on early Room clean and comfortable Able to park car for duration of weekend Breakfast good value Would recommend hotel and location Sea view rooms were large Shame there was no bar whilst we were there Manager and staff were friendly and helpful
Just returned from a short stay , booked at short notice in response to the weather forecast. The hotel enjoys a beachfront location, probably one of the best in Exmouth. You can book a sea view, or inland view room, we stayed in the latter, and were not disappointed. The room was light and airy, and decorated and equipped to a very high standard, including a whirlpool bath and monsoon shower. The bed was really comfy. Nothing too much trouble for the friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast can only be described as fantastic. Hot plates, hot tasty food and absolutely superb coffee. Being in a terrace, the hotel has only limited parking at £6 a day, which is good value, but was not made clear on the Best Western booking app ( not the hotels fault, I hasten to add) but there's ample parking over the road, also chargeable, so not a real issue. All in all, would highly recommend this hotel for a break in delightful Exmouth, and we'll definitely be back.
Looked dated outside. Could do with a sign indicating where the main door is. Inside reception clean. Had a room at the back so no sea view, but we did come to stay in a room. Nice clean bathroom. Jacuzzi bath and shower. Large bedroom. Large tv. Only downside it was very hot all week, great but the room was like an oven. Windows only opened an inch or so. The rooms need updating with air con. Did get a fan from front desk. But not really cooling the room down. Parked round the back of the hotel in their carpark. £6 a day. Great location.
2 night stay in August, a short break. Hotel is a bit dated but exceptionally clean and tidy.We had superior sea view room which was huge and again very, very clean. Weather very hot no aircon, and window only opened a few inches but asked at reception and a fan( which was brand new) was supplied very quickly. Room comfortable and toiletries supplied. Breakfast superb, continential and usual eggs and bacon. Staff very helpful and friendly, and courteous ( which is severely lacking in some places today). It is a place we would stay again, parking limited but you can park on seafront ( blue badge holders are exempt...) Hotel right opposite beach a major plus, eateries, pubs within short walking distance. We will return if ever we go to Exmouth again.
Just returned after a few days ,must the experience there was great, room was in immaculate condition and our sea view was brilliant, breakfast was good ,help yourself and set us up for the day, location was superb, we did have to pay for parking which was £6 per day,we paid and it worked for us,staff were very pleasant and helpful ,wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, not the hustle onf big hoels
Superb location with ease of access to the beach and town centre. The staff gave us a lovely welcome and were helpful throughout our stay. Lovely spacious rooms with a great sea view. Very clean throughout. Bonus of fresh air from opening windows! The breakfasts have a wide range choice of hot and cold food, fresh and delicious, great coffee too. Parking is as the front of hotel which you have to pay £6 a night for.
Arrived at 6pm no spaces left to park in so had to park on the road in the sea front no biggie as it's just across the road. Room is basic but clean TV is small no air con it was so hot in the room and the window only opened a little bit but at least it was enough to hear the fans of some equipment all night so not a good sleep was had. View from room non existent as it faced inwards. Bed was fine and comfy.Breakfast had to be missed as didn't start until 7:30 and that's the time I had to leave, brilliant. Would I let the business I work for pay £100 again for me to stay no I'm afraid not.
The best western Exmouth lovely hotel right on the sea front clean large room would recommend sea view. parking only 15 spaces we arrived early easy to park £6 day. lots of nice places to eat in walking distance. the Hotel is what it states 3 stars. no fridge in the room and the bar is closed the staff are very helpful
Lovely, friendly staff, who were very attentive, rooms were very clean and spacious, the breakfast was a perfect start to the day with an excellent variety to choose from, as much or as little as you want, the lift was invaluable for my elderly mother. Perfect location
Excellent location. The first room offered was noisy (from 6 am) and maintenance was to a poor standard. The staff were very helpful and they moved us to a better room. If we had to stay in the first room the rating would have been a 2
Hotel was ok, it looks a bit tired looking and could do with some TLC to make it look better both inside and out. Room was OK, basic, was clean and tidy, bed was OK, bathroom was ok but could do with painting. TV in room was small. Staff friendly and helpful.
Located in a stunning coastal town, the Best Western Exmouth Beach Hotel offers the perfect seaside retreat. The hotel's beachfront location provides breath-taking views and easy access to the sandy shores. Guests can enjoy comfortable accommodations, friendly staff, and great amenities. The on-site restaurant serves delicious Breakfast only. With its convenient location and charming atmosphere, the Best Western Exmouth Beach Hotel is an excellent choice for a beachside stay.
Ideal position on seafront. Short walking distance to town through a lovely park. Buffet breakfast excellent. Nice lounges to sit in with sea views. Staff most helpful and friendly. Yes it is an old hotel and rooms are not the best. But improvements are being made. A bar licence has been applied for. Parking limited and chargeable. I would go again. Some of the bad reviews are rubbish.
Wonderful stay wonderful staff what a location lovely rooms and clean, clean and fluffy towels provided. Overall great service and excellent customer service. Although they don't have evening meal but you have lot of options available around. Would recommend to stay here.
The room was dirty stains on curtains I complained but no one wanted to know ! The hotel is grim to say the least, I emailed best western and the best I was offered was a up grade and free breakfast next time . I would never return there !!!! Same great location.
Room was unclean. Very very dirty. Smelt funny. Very hot. Dirty curtains, bedding, bathroom and walls. Breakfast was awful, overcooked and hard. No parking. Way over priced. Put a complaint in. Would never stay again
Quiet hotel on sea front, easy walk to town centre and restaurants. Staff friendly and helpful. Good range of options for breakfast. No evening service or bar
What a rip off this place is - everything is a complete con. Over charged and terrible service - this has to be the worst hotel in the area and I am sure the worst value for money. Car park is atrocious and the food it terrible and tasteless. Stay as far away from this dump as you can. The management do not care for the customers at all and make fun of them - even as a diamond member of Best Western.
Excellent location. Car parking needs to be managed better. Hotel is looking its age and could do with a proper refurbishment. Our room was basic, small and very warm. Breakfast was average due to poor quality ingredients. Staff were polite and helpful. Overall just an average hotel at an average price.
I would put this hotel in budget category, but not their prices. They did not seem to know what to do with my Best Western Travel card number, so felt uncomfortable at check in. The room was so disappointing (apart from the view). It was very basic, tiny TV, bathroom so small you had to open the door to dry yourself, no where to put your toiletries. The shower was tiny and did not drain away very well so was paddling at that same time, very low water pressure. One thing I like in a hotel is a good shower. Touched the toilet roll holder and the toilet roll fell off, The breakfast was okay (self-service) but was not that hot.
The entire hotel is just old, tired and worn out. Not up to Best western standards at all. Not especially clean either. Worst of all it doesn't even have a bar so you can't have a drink. Totally unacceptable. Staff were polite and friendly though, I just felt for them having to work in this poor excuse for a hotel.
We have stayed in this hotel many times, good value, great position in Exmouth and friendly staff. Will stay here again.
Amazing stay, the hotel has been refurbished and made to look great with clean and tidy rooms. The location is the best in Exmouth close to town centre and right on the beach! Had a top sleep and best of all the staff and manager are really kind and helpful. Thank you.
Friendly staff. Very clean and tidy room and lovely throughout the hotel. Parking was right outside for £6 a night. Didn't have breakfast but it smelled really good. We were in room 67 which was very comfortable. I would add though, the taps were the wrong way round!
Got back to the hotel after an evening out, at first all was quiet but after around 15 minutes music & singing started & continued until gone 4oclock in the morning along with doors banging constantly from the room next to ours. We couldn't find a phone number for reception so had to get dressed & go down to reception. The duty manager came up twice but the music didn't stop. We know it's not the hotels fault who they get staying at the hotel but I would of thought it's their duty to do something about it. We emailed the hotel about our complaints but they didn't want to know. Terrible customer service
Stayed with my husband as we were going to a family celebration, thankfully we only needed to stay for 1 night. As soon as we entered I felt the place was strange. No welcome and the reception asked us to pay before we had even seen our room. Our room had one window that was obscured and opened about 2 inches with some sort of wire attached, upon looking through I could see a yard of some sort. I immediately thought if there was a fire we would be trapped. This room had no natural light, the bed was so uncomfortable and the bedding was scratchy and extremely poor quality. The staff were not at all friendly . We woke at 6 am in the morning and left immediately as we could nt wait to leave . I only saw groups of men walking around. A very strange hotel the worst I have ever encountered . Would never go back.
Great location ,large ,comfy room and bathroom had bath and shower ,good pressure on the shower too .Comfy bed ,good size TV .Nice to have 2 comfy chairs in the room too ! Lovely people running the hotel,so helpful and smiley people with a sense of humour! Will go back again as lovely customer service .
Staying free on points. Decent clean room, $6 daily parking fee. You can walk to lots of places; restaurants, pubs, entertainment etc. I'm assuming it's very busy in the summer as it is fairly quiet here now. I'm only staying for a night, but enjoyed walking around.
Very good hotel, close to Exmouth town centre and close to lots of restaurants as well. Great view of the sea and free parking. The room was massive and the staff werr very friendly and helpful. The wifi was very good as well.
We stayed for 4 nights in early December. The room was comfortable and clean, and looked like it was freshly refurbished. The hotel and room was warm which was nice on cold days. Very friendly staff, and excellent value for money overall.
Nice hotel. Pleasant polite staff, newly refurbished room. Comfortable bed and clean. Lovely view from big bay window overlooking the sea. So what am I moaning about you might ask ? Well no soap provided. Seriously I have never stayed in a hotel where nothing like that was provided. I guess I should have been grateful for the loo roll? Breakfast was a massive disappointment to be honest. Ok I can forgive the fact that no English breakfast was offered. Or can I ? Even in a budget hotel you now get cooked option. Crappy bread, a few tiny preserves and honey, mini boxes of rice crispies some fruit, a yoghurt and some cold pastry didn't really hit the spot. You can get away with instant coffee in the room but breakfast needs to be proper freshly brewed coffee. I don't mind a continental breakfast when it's done well, but this wasn't and it really upset my partner who was already annoyed by the lack of a cooked option . I guess we should have done our research. It wasn't worth the money we paid. Don't get me wrong as a place to Kip for the night or as a base for a weekend away by the see it would be fine, but for the money they charge they really should have a think at delivering better quality food and those nice little touches in the room to make it worth the money - that refurbishment won't pay for itself and you need the revenue in but sadly we just felt ripped off
We were so confused by our stay. The hotel lobby, dining areas, outside areas and reception all had people speaking Arabic, most wearing a Dish Dash. The receptionist barely spoke English. The notice boards had adverts for English lessons. We didn't see any other guests and we were taken through the corridors and through a door that said "PRIVATE" before being shown to our room. The room was huge, although empty, and the bath was an incredible spa bath. All the corridors had a very strong smell of strong foods and spices. The hotel had a strange feeling and we won't be going back.
We booked last minute for a 2 night break in Exmouth. Must admit we had read the reviews and were not expecting much. We were just desperate for a bit of sun & sea air. However we were knocked out by this place. Firstly the staff. The guy on reception works all hours and was so helpful & knowledgeable about the area. Secondly the room, twin bed with a sea view. The view from our bay window was awesome & well worth the extra. The room itself was large & clean. The bathroom was also clean & the shower more than big enough (and I am not small or slim) with ample hot water morning & night. My wife had packed a hairdryer as some reviews suggested this was not available but we had one in our room. Yes the hotel is being refurbished & parts were tired but overall we were comfortable and I think we had value for money.
Staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful. Hotel is being refurbished and workmen have left paint on carpets etc. Our room was large and cleaned when we requested cleaning. I cannot stress how much we appreciated the hardworking and helpful staff who tried so hard to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
On arrival at 2pm on 25 August my father and I initially found our bed had been made up as a double, so we requested a twin. This was initially resisted and the receptionist made us wait to confirm whether we had made a mistake on booking. On return to the room at 6pm, we found our room in a state of disarray, which we photographed (see images). It was also dirty and in a state of disrepair. The staff ensured our room would be made up on our return. At 11pm, we arrived back at our room and found for the first time there was no power supply to any of the sockets in the room. this meant we could not use our phone chargers, the TV or the kettle. It was too late to find another hotel. On leaving the hotel we complained firmly and politely. The manager, Aaron, agreed completely that our experience was unacceptable. However, he could not mitigate our disappointment as the call centre for Best Western (actually this is a franchise hotel) is in the far east. It was noticable that all the staff at this hotel were rather inexperienced (although very polite and generally nice). We have been in touch on 5 separately occasions to request the compensation we were promised, and now we do not get any answer from either Aaron or the BW care line. We have given every opportunity for this hotel to mitigate our disappointment over 2.5 weeks since our stay and so the only option to us is to make others aware of our experience at this hotel. On the positive side of things, the location was convenient.
We were worried after reading some reviews not being able to find much choice for our dates we decided to trust the Best Western name. on arrival reception clean and welcoming friendly staff. our route to the room did have shabby carpets but the refurb is still ongoing (would you fit new carpets before the workmen are finished . no!) Our room very clean, pleasant decor, nice ensuite with lovely large white fluffy towels and very comfortable bed. breakfast was superb with all diets catered for and plenty of choice.
The windows are screwed shut (see pic) no way to get out in an emergency, no ventilation in the bathroom or openable window so the smells linger, the electric towel rail doesn't work and as they didn't clean the room each day as requested the towels are still damp from the day before adding to the odour. Beds are well past their best and uncomfortable with a thin horrible pillow. The shower doesn't drain properly leaving a large puddle, the carpets throughout the hotel are disgusting as are the walls and ceilings (see pic). Breakfast is limited to a fry up, cereal, a bowl of mixed fruit which looks like it been there for weeks or a yogurt on tables that are far too small and more screwed shut windows?? What's all that about?? There is nothing good about this place. Reception didn't seem that bothered when we checked out and other guests we met as we left with we're leaving earlier than booked.
