Great value in downtown Durango with friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are clean. Family-friendly. Kids love the breakfast. Manager's happy hour is nice for the adults. Walkable to restaurants/downtown. Overall, a great value in downtown Durango.

All the staff was so polite professional and helpful, we couldn't have asked for better assistance room was clean and safe and had a great little patio to sit outside and watch the sunset We had coffee and tea in our room and a wonderful breakfast

The check-in and check-out person were the same lovely young lady. She was kind and considerate and very helpful. The gentleman in the breakfast and happy hour room was also a great worker and so nice. The texts before, during and after our stay from staff were awesome!

Only thing that was not great was the fact that the pool closing time moved to 9 pm. Every night multiple kids were removed from the pool at 9 and at a destination place like this the original 10 pm allows time for families to go eat after their daily activities and have time to come back to relax at the pool for some time. We've stayed many times at this hotel and the pool used to close at 10. This was much nicer.

We have stayed at this Best Western on each of our visits to Durango. The location is wonderful since the town is within walking distance. The staff is wonderful. The rooms are very clean. We have no complaints and would recommend this to anyone visiting Durango.

This Best Western is unlike any Best Western I have ever stayed at. It feels like a 5 star experience. The staff goes above and beyond and offers you a free happy hour to better enjoy your stay. The location is walking distance from everything on Main Ave. The breakfast has a lot of options that I have not seen at other Best Westerns and I love the addition of the green chili to keep it authentic to the south west. This best Western has fully converted me into a BW girlie.

In Durango there are numerous lodging options. But actually very few downtown. We wanted a place close enough to downtown that it is an easy, comfortable walk to get to the shops and restaurants. We located the Best Western. It is just off Main Street. And it has been a good choice. I'm impressed at how attentive they have been. We have received several emails and texts announcing our visit and asking if we needed anything. When getting here, the personnel have been attentive as well. The Best Western is a comfortable, chain hotel. Nothing overly special. There is an atrium area with a pool and rooms surrounding it. The room is fine – two queen beds, an easy chair, a writing desk/chair and a credenza with microwave and mini-fridge. Good choice. It has chain hotel food. But in their defense, it is a good spread. The array of food, while quite similar, is larger than many chain hotels breakfasts. Not overly different. But wider selection – two types of eggs, bacon and sausage, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, green chile, breakfast burrito makings, fresh strawberries, pastries (muffins and Danish) OJ, coffee. Plenty of food. And it is a nice eating area. One nice perc is their Happy Hour. On checking in we received a voucher for four drinks for each night of our stay. At 5:30pm in their breakfast area they serve drinks (beer, wine and some mixed drinks). In addition they have small bags of potato chips. We got our drinks and sat at a table by the pool drinking and chatting. It was a nice addition. All-in-all, the Best Western was quite nice.

This is the 2nd time we've been here as a group of 3 families and the value is excellent. Brandon at the breakfast bar serves such clean and tasty and consistent breakfast! The cleaning staff kept everything very nice and the pool/hot tub were excellent. Thank you!

Staff kept in touch with me a day before my arrival and during my stay. I was also treated to a good breakfast AND happy-hour each day of my stay. Food quality and evening drinks were acceptable, well prepared, and tasty. Any small problem with room safe was handled quickly and efficiently. My 3-day stay was great. No issues and front desk staff were responsive to any request I made. This hotel is pet friendly, but also charged me $30/day for the use of my room. I viewed the extra charge as a better fee amount than several other hotels I stayed at in the past. Similar hotels have charged me up to $50/day, AND didn't give out dog treats and a cloth mat to be used during my stay.

Before we even left for Durango, we were contacted and informed that our room would be ready. When we notified the desk that our flight had gotten to Durango earlier than expected, the staff got our room ready for us early. The room was clean. The breakfast was good. My grandson enjoyed the indoor pool, and it was walking distance to the train depot. Everyone was professional and helpful. Thank you for making us feel at home. Amanda Bertrand

Great location, updated room, and dog friendly. I like that this place is not on main street. Makes for better parking and quieter night. In the morning you will hear the train - but for us it was not a big deal. Our room was the last one on the street level. It made taking the dogs out easier.

We stayed at this hotel during our family trip to the polar express, the rooms are nice and clean, staff super attentive and friendly, they gave us passes for happy hr drinks, continental breakfast was really good the food was fresh, offering a variety of proteins, carbs and fresh fruit. The inside heated pool is nice the kiddos had so much fun. 100% recommended!!!

Hotel is average. Breakfast has good variety, but during busy holiday week, staff struggled to keep up with replenishing food. Didn't use pool, but it seemed nice. Beds were average. Biggest reason for the lower review was the lack of hot water for the shower and the low water pressure when showering during later morning. Not good at all.

Everyone member of you staff was helpful, courteous & professional. Room was immaculate & breakfast bar was always staffed & food was well prepared. Overall a nice stay in a great setting. Big shout out to Devon who found my purse. Excellent

During our stay, there was a crew working big machinery on a new parking garage just next to the hotel. Unfortunately, one of the mornings, they actually started revving up those machines at 6 a.m. I personally do not mind that, except maybe an hour later would have been nice. The beds are super comfy, plenty of nice pillows to choose from, the staff is wonderful and the complimentary breakfast was a great addition. So other than the noise that is NOT the hotel's fault, the stay was perfect!

Great location. Waking distance to the town. Breakfast and drinks in the evening was great! But not enough parking. One of the workers offered to move his vehicle to make room for ours. Nice employees,very kind.

Went to Durango to ride the train. The hotel was located near the train station. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean and spacious. Cute little town. Was within walking distance of historic downtown.

Wonderfully kind and helpful staff! The ladies at the desk, the staff at happy hour and at the complimentary breakfast were very nice. The pillows were the best ever. So comfortable, I bought a couple to take home! Would definitely stay again!

One of the nicest BW's. Had a King Suite and it was very well furnished and quite lovely. The hotel is within walking distance to downtown which is very handy. Breakfast was great with freshly made bacon and eggs. On checking we were given tickets for complimentary drinks in the lounge. Much appreciated.

It's a nice hotel with an unbeatable location. 5 Min walk to the Durango Silverton RR station, 5 minutes to downtown Durango. The rooms are spacious and clean. However, the hotel show its age. The complimentary breakfast ist OK but not outstanding. However, if you want housekeeping to make up Your beds, you have to hang the appropriate flag to the door, otherwise housekeeping does not touch your room. That's ok if at checking you're being informed about this (strange) rule. We weren't! So after a long day back at the hotel at 7:15pm, no housekeeping – the room was left untouched. The reception staff just could give me some new towels in the evening (thanks!) because no housekeeping was available anymore. This was disappointing

Large room, comfortable bed, balcony with table and two chairs. A/C is wall-mounted and noisy. All toiletries included, but no body wash, just bars of soap. Free breakfast with numerous selections. Indoor pool and spa. Happy hour tickets for free drinks issued at check in but we didn't use. Five minute walk to Durango-Silverton rail and Main St. Overall, it is a great location at good price.

WE had a great room and it was clean, bed was good and comfy! AC worked great too! Check in was awesome and very helpful also check out was no hassle! Thanks to all! The locations was perfect! You can walk to downtown and the train station is literally next door. The rooms were clean and not noisy at all. My grandkids loved the pool in the center and the breakfasts. We have stayed at many hotels and this is one of the best breakfasts put together. We would definitely stay again.

If I could I would give this hotel more than five stars. What a lovely stay we had. We use BW Hotels frequently and will say this is the nicest we have stayed at. The location was perfect for our stay in this quaint little town. Had payed for parking ahead of time at train station but didn't use it. A 3 minute walk to train. The room was immaculate. Balcony to enjoy our coffee in mornings and an evening enjoying our free drinks from Happy hour. Breakfast was excellent with a good variety of choices. Walk in shower which I wish all hotels had. Much safer than getting in and out of bathtubs. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Brandon worked hard to make sure everyone enjoyed breakfast and Happy hour. I highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent service throughout our stay. We appreciated the complimentary happy hour and the bartender! My granddaughter loved the pool. The front desk people were courteous and vigilant, always greeted us when we entered the property. Our room was spacious and comfortable.

Location is wonderful, rooms are great- the balcony room we had, you can watch people parasail off the hilltop across the road about 7 am each day. Deer walk right down the drive and into grassy area. The happy hour is very fun, we always meet people at that and go away with new friends. Staff are wonderful, so very friendly and helpful, always asking if you need anything.

My wife and I had a very nice three-night stay. Although the hotel was probably built 25+ years ago, the room was good sized, very clean, and well maintained. It had a comfy bed and a nice balcony with a good view. The complementary breakfast was somewhat better than average and the staff was friendly. The best part, however was the location. It was one block to a very good mexican restaurant (Gazpacho), 2-3 blocks to the Narrow Gauge RR, 3-6 blocks to the historic part of town, shops, restaurants, brewpubs, etc. Our car was never moved once we checked-in. The only minor negatives were that the pillows were not the most comfortable and the bed covers too heavy for this time of year.

The hotel is kept very clean (serviced daily)with a comfortable bed. Hot breakfast is served every morning and complimentary cocktails are provided every evening.The location is perfect just off Main Avenue and a short walk to shops and restaurants.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was next door to the Train Station and there is variety of dining options nearby.

Great location! Walking distance to downtown and the train station. Breakfast was fresh and hot. We enjoyed the complimentary cocktails too. Boys took a dip in the indoor pool which wasn't heated so a little chilly but they still enjoyed it. Exercise room is limited but happy to see a Peloton! Also, they seem to be renovating and making a new gym on the upper level. Staff was also very friendly. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again when in the area!

The location to the main town and also access to the train excellent. On site parking is great and the rooms we had with balcony great. Breakfast was more than adequate and well stocked and the free happy hour' drinks a very nice surprise. Thank you for a very pleasant stay and very close to good restaurants.

Check-in was very professional and easy. Room was comfortable & had everything we needed. Very large and spacious. Free “Happy Hour” each day was enjoyable and gad lots of choices for drinks. Breakfast was excellent.

Nice hotel. Good location since it is walking distance to train depot and all downtown restaurants and shops. Staff is very helpful and friendly. There is a parking garage construction going on next door and the hotel does face the rail cars being stored in train yard. Free drinks at nite was nice.

Loved the bed and awesome pillows. There is only 2 things about the room. 1 air conditioning unit aims directly on person in bed, unsuccessful in trying to adjust the vents. 2 loved the balcony and the view but not that when you go out on balcony and shut the door you are locked out of the room. Not really sure why that is. Breakfast was awesome every morning with friendly and efficient staff. Front desk clerks also very friendly and helpful. Everything clean from the restaurant, pool, halls, etc.

Some indoor rooms can be noisy because they open to pool area, but outdoor rooms are also available. The pool and hot tub are great for families with kids. Free happy hour drinks for each night of your stay. Breakfast is good but the room can get crowded at weekends. Great downtown location; everything is within walking distance.

Was in town I'm a hot air balloon pilot and had a rally here was very noisy and even when I asked staff to see if they can help seems like noise got worse stomping above my room yelling outside room in hallway at 1am I would never had stayed if I knew it would have been like this very busy weekend in town so rooms hard to come by to move hotels

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The pool and whirlpool were perfectly warm temperatures and that was super important to our kids. The room was clean, comfy and kid and dog friendly! The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Location can't be beat, it's walking distance to all of our favorite restaurants and shops!

Beautiful hotel. The pool and hot tub was great after being out snowboarding at Purgatory for the day. Breakfast was decent. The room was modern and clean. Hotel staff were friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is located within walking distance to downtown which was a plus. It is an older hotel, but kept pretty clean. One BIG issue was with hot water. We notified the front desk and were told that everyone was trying to shower and the hot water heater could not keep up. We stayed 4 nights and I was only able to take lukewarm showers when water was available. The walls are also very thin. Although it was no fault of the hotel, the neighbor next to us allowed their child to jump around until almost midnight on 2 nights.

Great staff comfy bed and the doors are not pneumatic so you don't hear everyone shutting their door. Close to main street restaurants and shopping within walking distance. House keeping was a little grumpy but serviced the rooms daily and did a great job.

Stayed here one night. Hot tub was closed and pool should have been closed. Both were nasty and putting aff a very stagnant odor throughout the hotel. Location is prime if your doing the Polar express but I would recommend staying elsewhere.

The hotel was clean, friendly, and close to the train station to where we could walk to the Polar Express! We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. It's close to so many good places to ear. My children had a blast!

Staff was amazing! Hotel was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was inconsistent. One day good, the second day was pretty bad. Location is wonderful. Short walk to almost anywhere in town. The children loved the pool. Room was very hot at night. Tried to turn down the heat, but it stayed too warm.

We chose this hotel based on its proximity to the Railroad station but it was also well located for the town. Our room was a good size, with a balcony, although it didn't have much of a view. The pool area was attractive, although we didn't use the pool and we had no problems with car parking. The breakfast was fine.

My daughters and I stayed at this Best Western for 4 nights, 5 days during the week of Thanksgiving 2022. The hotel is in a perfect spot to walk to downtown Durango. Just a short, few minute walk to the train station. We rode the Polar Express and were able to walk to the station. Plenty of restaurants nearby. The breakfast was great each morning as was the attendant. Selections ranged from potatoes, a protein option, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, waffles, yogurt, fruit, cereal and bread/pastry selection. Each evening there were two complimentary alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic for the kids. That was a nice touch and we enjoyed ourselves. The staff was beyond fantastic from the woman who checked us in, the breakfast attendant and the bartender each evening. The only complaint I would have is that housekeeping kept the doors downstairs open all day which made the building way to cold as temperatures that week only got to the low 40's. Neither of my girls were willing to go swimming as the pool is in the middle of the building and it was freezing in there. Otherwise it was a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend.

Staff was great and stay was very relaxing. I love this hotel and will defiantly be back. Check in was fast and simple and clerk was amazing. Visited the lounge for an evening drink and it really was a great way to end the day.

They have been refurbishing this hotel. Rooms are updated and very clean. The staff is very friendly and the little perks are a nice surprise. It's walking distance from Main St. Durango. Our room was very quiet. We have stayed here a couple of times and will return.

I brought my two pets to the hotel and they were very welcomed. They were even given a gift of treats from the front office. The room was very clean and did not smell of previous pets. The cleaning service did an excellent job of getting items I requested. The desk staff was very polite during check in and check out. The rooms blocked out most of the noise and parking was very convenient.

The motel was what I would expect in this price-point. What makes it unique is that it is in the heart of downtown Durango, actually boardering the railroad station property. ... and No, the noise from the train station was not overly loud. All of historic Durango was walkable from this motel -- a good thing since parking is a metered.

The location is great! A block or so from the train station but the train didn't bother me at all, you can hear a gentle toot of the horn but it's not Durango if you don't hear the train horn! The bed and pillows were comfy, room spacious, balcony so nice and I think all rooms have them. I love the options to select what service you want each day. The staff was great and always so helpful! The room had cable tv, a desk, nightstands and dresser. Ample towels and cleaning stuff. The property has a refillable water bottle station which I love cause I drink a lot of water. Breakfast options were plentiful and they offer a free drink or two for happy hour each night too. I didn't experience that cause I'm not a drinker but very nice for those that are. The number of parking spaces is not great and was full every night. There may be additional parking but you'd have to ask if was an issue.

My husband and I stayed here because of the location. This hotel is close to the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and many restraints. We did not use the pool, but I personally love where the pool is placed in the hotel. I think this would be a great place to bring your kids. I would suggest waking up early to eat breakfast. The Breakfast area does get crowded very quickly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Walking distance to everything in Durango including the train and riverside trail. Indoor pool/ hot tub a plus as well as free welcome drinks. Clean, comfortable rooms, basic BW breakfast but fresh berries an added plus!

We loved this motel. It was clean and comfortable. They offered free drinks at happy hour. The breakfast was the best motel breakfast we have had. Quality products and fresh fruit. We were two blocks from the Durango - Silverton train station so no need to buy the parking pass for the railroad. We appreciate the owner honoring the military with a generous discount. Great motel at a great location.

We pulled in at the end of a long day and were tired. We were greeted warmly by a very helpful clerk. The room was clean and appeared new, and exceeded our expectations. Breakfast the next morning was fresh and hot. We will stay at this hotel the next time we visit Durango.

Reservation was changed without notification. We had to straighten it out on property, we did this around 1pm and made sure we could check in at 3pm the guaranteed checkin time. We were told it was fine, we came back around 4 and checked in. We carried our bags to the 3rd floor to find the housekeeper just starting to clean our room. Front desk didn't change us to a clean room so we waited. After the housekeeper left we went into our room and started preparing and getting changed for dinner. During this time the room inspector busted into the room unannounced, realized that we were in there and then said sorry and left. After we went out and came back we wanted to watch some tv before bed, tv didn't work. Tried multiple things to get it to work, checked all the basics, plugs, power, input and couldn't get it to work. It was later in the evening so we didn't bother to alert the staff to try to get it fixed.

We enjoyed our stay and its proximity to the Train Station. But the real perks were the Customer Oriented workers! The breakfast room was full each morning, one morning there were 2 bus loads of people and the next day 1 bus load. The young lady who was cooking and serving these throngs was outstanding! I felt that the serving dishes were kept full because of her dedication to service. Did I mention we had a balcony? Did I mention the door automatically locks if you close it, there's a huge note next to the door, but my husband somehow missed it, closed the door with both of us out on the balcony, locked out of our room on the Balcony, phones inside! We were watching for someone we could shout to and ask them to get someone from the hotel to come let us back in, when one of the front desk workers was finished with her shift and going home, we told her we were locked out and she went back in, got a key and sprung us from our lockout! We also enjoyed the evening Happy Hours! Restful sleep, wonderful balcony, nice views!

I chose this hotel due to it's closeness to the Durango Silverton train station. We walked to it. The staff is friendly, clean spacious rooms, great breakfast with many options. Happy hour in the bar. Big indoor pool & hot tub. You can walk to shopping & restaurants. Staff is friendly & helpful. Elevator too. Our room had a balcony.

Nice pool/hot tub in the middle of a central covered courtyard. Plenty of towels always available. Breakfast and happy hour provided. The best part of the stay is the location of this hotel, only a couple of blocks from Main Street.

I was expecting more from a Plus Best Western but found front desk staff not helpful and entire hotel was in need of cleaning and updating. We had problems that were not addressed. Plus was breakfast offering and very friendly staff in breakfast room. Pool was enjoyable. Even housekeeping staff had smiles and hello.

A BW always has a certain level they maintain, and have stayed at many, but this one excelled over the others. Rooms were very clean and spacious, mattress, pillows and towels were excellent, staff was very friendly. Very nice indoor pool and spa, a real breakfast and 2 free cocktails for every night you stayed. A very short walk to the train station if your doing the narrow gauge ride, and right off the main drag in the old part of town. A perfect stay overall. Will definitely be back when in the area

The location and accommodations were great, which included a delicious continental breakfast. Its location was within walking distance from Main Street which had a good vibe. Also an added bonus for me was that hotel was dog friendly.

Breakfast all but inedible, clogged toilets in room and flippant nighttime staff Who could care less about guests needs- parking was nightmare but understandable due to timing of visit- there are good points to stay but staff, clogged toilet and inedible breakfast were almost cancellation worthy

Enjoyed our 3 night stay!! The staff was very friendly and our room very nice-large and very clean. Enjoyed the happy hours and the pool area. The location was in walking distance to the Silverton train, restaurants and some fun stores for shopping. Would stay here again!!!

Location was great, nice to have complimentary drink at happy hour, bed was comfy. We didn't notice until time to leave that there was a sign to control the a/c with the thermostat on the wall, fan on unit ran continuously. We should have asked about the remote for the TV, too. It did not control the volume at all. I did give a four for the rating and we do like this hotel, but our room was kinda smelly. Love Durango and this hotel is easy walking distance to the train and downtown. We'll stay there again.

Perfect location for a stroll to downtown Durango. You get free drink tickets to the bar with your stay which was a nice surprise. One thing about the pool is that it closes at 9pm. It's inside with a bunch of rooms facing the pool, so they have to shut it down early so that the noise doesn't bother those rooms. I had an outward facing room, so I don't know if noise would be an issue during the day time for those rooms.

Friendly and convenient , clean and close to downtown. Easy walk, no need to drive. Great free breakfast and has a free Happy Hour. , which is an added bonus .We would certainly stay here again. If looking for something close to town..I would give them a try!

Overall nice location and accommodations. The complementary breakfast was extremely busy and short staffed. The food was tasty but the wait staff could not keep up with the demand. The evening happy hour was a excellent surprise. Had an issue with the room the first night and the front desk staff made the necessary accommodations. Highly recommend this location. Parking is best for smaller vehicles!

This is a first class hotel and I would recommend it to anyone. The staff is exceptional and the breakfast is excellent. Durango is a very nice city and the hotel is located near the Durango/Silverton train that is an excellent day trip.

We have been to Durango numerous times over the years and usually stay at a property on Main Street. This hotel is close enough to all the downtown amenities but far enough away that street noise isn't an issue. We had a balcony room on the mountain side of the hotel and enjoyed the lovely views. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. We will definitely return.

Went to Durango and took our 15 year old granddaughter. Very clean pool, excellent breakfasts with VERY friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast ladies were fantastic and very friendly. Clean nice hotel

We were able to get a pet friendly room on the bottom floor. Great location and a really nice indoor pool and breakfast. Pet relief area was appreciated. Room was clean and had a fridge and microwave . Enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

It is slightly difficult to find this hotel in downtown Durango. Using our GPS made it much easier. Otherwise everything about stay there was exgtrmeley pleasant. The staff, parking, the free breakfast, free wifi, our room was clean, the bed was comfortable and we slept well. We highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is in the middle of the action. The room was really nice and comfortable. The included two drink happy hour was a very welcome amenity, especially since our room was close to the bar. Being next to the pool was noisy but not overbearing.

The hole entire team is very attentive and on top of every detail and they go out of they way to please everybody at least that's the experience I had on the time we stay from the from the front of the house to the back of the house….

Room and facility were very clean and I felt "safe". The "cocktail hour" was a nice amenity as well as the return of breakfast, which had a variety of breakfast foods. Location of BW Plus is perfect for walking to restaurants and sights in town yet is situated in a quiet area away from traffic.

Two points: Point 1. I dont have kids so take this with a grain of salt.....on their websote you will see an indoor pool. you will see room doors surrounding the pool area. What you dont see are the 20 to 30 kids screaming and splashing in the pool ....essentially right outside your door. Beautiful!! Solution: Make sure you get one of their rooms that enter from the exteror of the building and NOT from the pool surround!! Point 2: My Room #215 was positioned perfectly on the other side of the Janitor Room wall. At 6:30 AM mop buckets were clanging, maid carts slamming against the wall as well as being moved into the hallway outside my door. Rediculous noise!! They did move me to an exterior entry room after putting up with both points for two nights. All was good after that. Lesson learned.

Very nice clean rooms with hot tub, pool and fitness room options as well as happy hour in the hotel lounge, followed by excellent breakfast in the AM. Many breakfast choices to include biscuits and gravy, green Chile, eggs, sausage, Canadian bacon, toast, muffins, yogurt with granola and other toppings. Close proximity to downtown.

Headed home and stopped in Durango. Hotel is in a great spot for dining choices. Upgraded room was very nice. The only problem with the room is a lack of A.C. or USB receptacles. Happy hour and breakfast were a nice plus. Would stay again.

Loved this place! And the people! Staff is so quick to help and assist in any issue! It is tucked quietly in the heart of downtown durango and within walking distance to so many delicious restaurants!

The hotel is clean and quiet. It offers a complimentary cocktail in the evening, and a continental hot and cold breakfast. It is at the very end of town which is great. Still several places to walk to for dinner. Pretty close to main street for shopping.

Great Hotel. Evening managers happy hour is a plus. Within walking distance of Downtown Durango! Unique layout of rooms is refreshing. Very good BBQ Cafe and A Mexican restaurant across the street, Parking is difficult but not to the point that I would not stay here.

Stayed overnight on our way home from spring break. The kids really enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Breakfast was by far the best we've had in a hotel ... large variety and lots of "extras" like whipped cream and fruit for the waffles.

Nice facility pleasant staff. Rooms were clean. Good breakfast, pool facilities were great. You may have to compromise in finding a parking space and be prepared to carry your bags a distance. They are pet friendly, which was great, with a pet area close. Dog is able to sniff to their hearts content and find that perfect spot.

The rooms were clean and comfortable and the cost was reasonable. The location is so awesome. Park your car and walk to everywhere. The rooms wrap around the indoor pool. From 9am to 9pm the pool is open and very busy. Kind of loud. There are rooms that have outside entrances that may be quieter.The breakfast was OK. The front desk was very helpful. We will return.

The last time I stayed here was 7 yrs back. I found it acceptable so returned., as there are only four options available in downtown, two of which are historic places. The hotel itself needs money spent on it. The rooms are tired, lacking any colour and pretty depressing. The noise of the room heaters is way too loud. My room had a door to the room next door, which allowed me to hear every word of his TV. The interior of the hotel is virtually all swimming pool, with the accompanying noise and smell. There were children everywhere. Off the swimming pool is the breakfast room, which has no windows, and looks onto the swimming pool. My last stay a few days ago, was dominated by families with many young children...relaxing and quiet it wasn't. I left a day early.. A high point was the young woman who was in charge of breakfast. She had the patience of a saint...truly excellent.

We stayed here for one night during spring break. They offer a happy hour in the evenings, but only until 7:30. The bartender offered to make Shirley Temples for the kids. The pool area gets very crowded and is only open until 9. I think that may be because some rooms in the atrium open to the pool area and they worry about noise levels. The breakfast options are good, but they had trouble keeping items stocked due to the number of guests. I think the woman working could have ised some help, bit she was kind and definitely trying to keep up with demand. Several restaurants are within walkimg distance, which is nice!

The location makes this hotel so amazing, walked to everything very easily, the money we would have spent on uber/lyft to stay somewhere cheaper was about the same as just upgrading location and quality, we are so happy we chose this spot

Great family oriented hotel. There are rooms with french doors that open up onto the pool atrium, as well as a bar stools in the restaurant overlooking the pool. Parents can enjoy the managers happy hour and watch their kids. There are also rooms NOT connected to the atrium if you prefer kid-less silence.

The hotel was clean and the breakfast options were adequate. Staff brought out oatmeal at request and the complimentary drinks in the afternoon was a nice touch. Had problems with sink and tub drainage that could not be repaired and got another room that had heating issues and took up a lot of time. Short walking distance to train depot.

This is our second time staying here and. Other ones the rooms were clean, well taken care of, pretty decor, the pool and hot tub were nice and the happy hour they provide is an added bonus. We really enjoyed our view as well.

We have been staying at this hotel for several years. Rooms were nice as usual. Laundry facilities were being updated, so they were unavailable for week we were there. The hot tub heater quit working so there was no hot tub. The pool heater was also having problems, so there were a few days that it was too cold to swim.

We reserved this hotel after staying a few times at another Best Western outside of Durango which has always been good. The Best Western Plus Rio Grande Inn has only one thing really going for it. The location is close to the train station and much of downtown. Beyond that the property is in some disrepair with worn woodwork etc. The breakfast area was overcrowded and we skipped it the second day. The worst part, however was the noise and behavior of many of the guests. At 11 PM there were drunk people in the hotel playing music and laughing. We called the front desk but nothing was done. Eventually we confronted the unruly guests ourselves and they stopped. Will not be back.

This is going on 23 years of staying at this property at least once if not 2X a year. The location is fantastic. The amenities perfect (especially if traveling with kids) the price is great. I can not say enought about the friendly helpful staff.

We really enjoy the location of this hotel, as well as the free breakfast, free happy hour and the indoor pool. Just be prepared for the pool and breakfast/happy hour area to get very busy! We struggled with breakfast time, as it was so busy in the breakfast area it made it hard to get what we needed. Also, the pool area isn't very big and the tables by the pool are very wabbly which made it hard to use for drinks and food.

We stayed 4 nights and the location is perfect. You can walk to the train station - about 1.5 blocks and restaurants are all within walking distance as well as downtown area. The majority of the rooms are located inside around the indoor pool. They offer a nightly complimentary 2 drink per guest happy hour with an array of cocktails offered. There is a full breakfast every morning and they offer an abundant amount of choices. Even though the majority of rooms surround the pool at 9 pm it is completely quiet! They do allow pets as we saw a few guests with their dogs. The rooms are spacious but the bathroom is very small. One person at a time. The bottom of the bathroom door was splintered but the shower was new. Our bathroom was missing some amenities ie: kleenex and hair dryer, which I did receive a few days later. Once we used our shampoo/conditioner they were not replenished even though I left a note everyday for housekeeping, luckily I had brought back-up. This could be due to staffing shortage. Our room had a balcony that overlooked a beautiful mountain. The front desk staff seems to work very hard in trying to meet all client's needs. The joke among a lot of the client's was "where is the ice machine". It's on the 3rd floor! Parking seemed to fill up every night but as I mentioned you really only need to park once as everything is within walking distance.

Upon our flight arrival, we were pleased to see that this facility was within walking distance to most of our target spots before we headed out of town in our rental car. Most importantly it was a 5 minute walk to the steam train station which was our #1 target. The hotel is compact; very clean room; small but serviceable elevator; friendly & hard-working staff throughout the facility. Breakfast room seemed to be a victim of the supply chain problems. However, there were enough food choices to make for a passable, healthy meal. I would hope that they make an extra effort to provide an adequate tea supply A decent place in a very congested area.

BW Plus is usually ahead of the rest bust this trip was a bust. no handicap parking or any other parking and had to walk a good distance from neighboring business to get to room. A dog had been left alone in an adjoining room which was expressing loud discontent after 5 am till we gave up trying to sleep and left the room. My grand-daughter freaked when a bug crawled across her pillow. I have stayed there many times and hope this is not a new norm.

Hotel is nice, Pool and hot tub were wonderful, right outside our room. I was afraid it would be noisy, but it was not. If I were with a group of skiers and their kids this would be a great place to be in the evenihg. Short walk to downtown Durango restaurants and shops. Id like to come back here. This was just a quick stay

This is my third time here in 10 months. Cleanliness of rooms is outstanding. Any extra items requested are graciously provided. Staff throughout the hotel are all personable and professional. And, it's the perfect location for spending time in Downtown Durango.

This property is as close to the Train Depot as you can get. (Take the shortcut from the hotel entrance through T's BBQ patio.) Parking was free and ample. There are two ways to enter the parking, from town or around the back through a quaint neighborhood. You can walk to everything downtown that you'd want. Our two queen room was spacious enough, The fridge was very large; you could fit several frozen meals in the freezer section or two ice cube trays if you wanted. They supplied a microwave, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, Missing was a box of tissues; we had to buy one of our own, They had a heavy curtain to close off the closet area. The curtain would have been better used to close off the sink area, so someone could have privacy during dressing. We were two girlfriends, and it was a little difficult to change in the small room where the toilet and tub/shower were located. The beds were very comfortable, and each bed had four pillows. No shortage there! The hot breakfast was very nice. Two waffle stations, bulk scrambled eggs, sausage or even bacon! one morning. Lots of bread and pastry choices. There was a warning when we checked in that they may not have the hot items due to short supply/covid related. But we lucked out and were not disappointed. A highlight was the Manager's Special Happy Hour from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Two free drinks per night per person, and they were a "good pour". Even then they only charge $3 a drink, because they are only open for the two hours. This may not be offered all the time, but we sure took advantage of it and enjoyed it. The bar area overlooks the indoor pool and hot tub. It's also where the breakfast is served. I would stay here again, even if I wasn't taking the train. Good value. PS...There were no screens on the windows; not sure if it was just our room or not, We loved sleeping with the cold night air, so the heavy blackout curtains provided some sense of security.

Nice looking well maintained hotel very near Old Town. Walking distance. Plenty of parking with a security gate around the perimeter. Staff is fridnky and do their jobs well. Housekeeping is scrupulousl and our rooms were cleaned and well maintained. Nice sixpzed rooms with comfortable beds and a nice sized bathroom. We stayed twice. Once with the Balloon Fiesta (Road Schokar) and again on our own. Both times good experiences. Breakfast was off the menu and very good.

We booked a balcony room through Booking.com because we wanted access to fresh air. When we arrived, the desk clerk told us we booked a standard room with no balcony. We asked to speak to the manager. When he arrived, the clerk started with “they reserved a standard room and now they want a balcony.” My wife had the email confirmation that clearly showed “this room has a balcony” but they insisted that wasn't in their system and we'd have to take it up with Booking.com. Unfortunately for us, we were there when the town was full so we were stuck. They put us in room 125 which is right next to the indoor pool. The room reeked of chlorine when we opened the door and stunk of mold when we closed it. The wall unit a/c was extremely loud and didn't cool the room despite the noise. The towels were paper thin, the television remote didn't work. The free happy hour didn't have working beer taps. I could go on, but you get the picture. On the plus side, there is a nice sized refrigerator in the room.

This hotel is right next to the train depot and downtown so very convenient. The beds are pretty hard, and the rooms are small and dark, but you do have a microwave and fridge which is useful when the town is super busy. They allow pets, so we had a noisy dog next door. The pool is indoor which our kids loved, but the hot tub didn't work.

Rooms IMMACULATE! - We had friends traveling with us who opted for a more expensive historic hotel downtown. There was no comparison. Our place at this Best Western was so much nicer. There is a heated pool and hot tub in a center courtyard which gives the place a cozy ambience. Very quiet and peaceful hotel. You get a full hot breakfast (scrambled eggs, sausage, yogurt, granola, cereal, bagels, pastries, juice etc.. also from 5:30-7:30...and a free happy hour nightly (2 free drinks per person per night served from the breakfast room which is located behind the pool area) You can sit around the pool or wherever you want and sip a Bloody Mary or wine or whatever. Beds and pillows very comfortable. ..You will want to get a room on 2nd and 3rd floor that is accessed from the inside couryard as opposed to room that can only be accessed from the outside The upper floors have private balconies, a refrigerator, microwave and safe. This hotel is the BEST location to Narrow Gauge Railroad & historic area The Narrow Gauge Railroad is a 2 minute walk, as well as the historic district, and so you can walk to all of the many restaurants and shopping areas. It's really a perfect location and a wonderful hotel.

I found the property extremely noisy and the internet service was horrible. I didn't get much sleep with all the noise in the two nights I was there. I wouldn't recommend it based on those two things. On a lighter note, the staff were all great!

I don't think spending the evening killing bugs off the ceiling, walls, lamp shade etc is a good night! When I reported it to the front desk they said "Oh when the cleaning staff cleans the rooms they leave the door open & they fly in". Location is great but will NOT stay here again.

This hotel is one of the best hotels we have stayed at. It has a great location for anyone spending time in Durango. It is easy walking distance to the Silverton Durango Railroad and most of downtown. The breakfast is the best hot breakfast we have ever had at a hotel with plenty of hot and cold options. The hotel also has an indoor swimming pool and a hot tub. If you want to stay in Durango in town, THIS hotel is the one you should choose.

Very bad mold in bathroom. Housekeeping obviously did not think the mold was a problem because it was very bad and could not be missed. Two of our three hand towels had yellow stains on them. Room is very dated and small. The only reason to stay here is location. There is a note explaining that they are short staffed and apologize that the services are not quite as they should be. I would agree.

Had to change rooms twice because of bugs in the room. On the walls, on the ceiling, in the bed in the first room. Same in the next room. The third room change had no bugs, but the AC didn't work properly.

Amenities offered ( breakfast included) & located walking distance from Main Street. A little dark inside. Pool inside made it humid on first floor. Small bathrooms for more than one night stay. No central lobby although they also served cocktails beer and wine during a happy hour.

Best western planned on the motorcycle invasion for a long time it appears. From the parking lot to the happy hour to the morning breakfast everything was top notch. The pool and area was clean and I might add very refreshing. The rooms were cleaned in a timely fashion and were sparkling clean. My friends and I loved the way we could set around the pool area and talk about the day's experience while in joying a drink during happy hour. I would stay here again.

The hotel is good, not great and could use some updating. The staff were all friendly, helpful, and quick in meeting our needs! Special thanks to Chrystal on the front desk! Maintenance was in our room within 3 minutes of making a request! All staff were masked which made us feel comfortable!

If you like trains and good restaurants close by, this is the place to stay. Everything you need is in walking distance including the world famous Narrow Gauge train which you can see from the property. There is even a movie theater next door. The hotel features a big pool inside and indoor atrium. They also have a happy hour with complimentary drinks.

Was provided a room that was infested with bugs. They did move us to another of lesser quality. Lowered from King to two queen size beds. Had to move all belongings from 1st floor to second floor and give up patio and outside seating.

This hotel was very well situated as a base point for exploring Mesa Verde National Park and other sites in the area. The staff was very helpful and friendly, although admittedly short-staffed due to COVID.

room's smelled, carpet dirty, towels stunk, rooms didn't get made up on all three nights we stayed even though we complained, they came in made the bed without changing sheets on one day but they did have the heart to give us fresh towels.

Saw this on a list of decent places to stay fun Durango. Boy were they wrong. I am a Best western member, gold level, and reserved this room a month ago as part of an anniversary trip, which I put in the notes when I asked for the highest floor possible and a private room. I paid for their nicest room which is an enhanced king with a balcony. when I arrived I had been pre-assigned a horrible room with a balcony facing the main part of the parking lot and with the view blocked by the outside stairs which everyone uses to come up and down. I could not have been given a worse room with a balcony in the entire hotel. The price point was around $200. The room was tired and sad and when I came in the blinds were drawn over the door to the balcony. when I looked out I saw why they had them closed. This is a horrible property that does not deserve to be a plus. The check in woman immediately admitted it was a terrible room and said my only other choice was a lesser (???!!!) room facing the pavement. She gave me 20 per cent off but they should be paying me to stay here. It is really bad. I am a best western member and usually like their hotels and expect much more from a plus. I asked her how the rooms were assigned and she said she didn't know. Obviously no one reads the note you put on the reservation, no one cares if you are a member, and they just hope you will be happy with a horrible room and accept it.

The room was dirty and there was still a used bar of soup in the shower along with black hairs. The towels were threadbare and the ice bucket had old scummy water still in it. The air conditioner could not keep the room cool and there was a light out over the sink. The room was really small with no room to open suitcases. The room was old and outdated and beat up. The pool was so cloudy you could not see the bottom of the steps into the shallow end that was 3 feet deep. When we asked for a new ice bucket the staff did not know where they were. Do yourself a favor and pass this place by.

Five stars for the location within walking distance from all that downtown Durango has to offer. Room was clean with a few updates. Comfortable bed too. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Basic breakfast offerings were served with a smile

Although only a single elevator to 3 levels overlooking an interior pool, many staircases make for easy egress and access . Enclosed pool area breakfast and evening complimentary wine. Some exterior rooms with a private patio table and chairs. Comfortable accommodations. Friendly and helpful staff. Limited parking with construction of new Hampton Hotel alongside and Wyndham across from entrance. Small lobby with others located on each floor. Book ahead for best pricing and availability. Short walk to Gazpacho drinks and dine.

Room large & clean. Hot tub looked a little murky, we didn't try it. Convent location & plenty of parking. Usual breakfast offered, but a mini happy hour is offered in the late afternoon. 3rd story can give you a view of the mountains. Easy check in and out.

I stayed here in July for a work trip and enjoyed it so I returned back in August on my second trip for work. The rooms were clean. The beds weren't overly comfortable but not horrible. The breakfast was beyond what I expected during these times. They have a cocktail hour in the evenings but I worked too late to check that out. My only negative experience was that for my stay in July I left behind a very nice blanket I had just bought in Pagosa the week before for +$60. I do know that it was my fault I left it but I called about an hour after check out and they said THEY FOUND IT and would SAVE for my return trip in August. When I returned it was no where to be located. So that is disappointing to me that someone from the staff decided to take it

When we got to our room there was dead bugs, lint leaves and animal hair on carpet and furniture. Room smelled couldn't open window because of no screen. Had maid return and vacuum carpet, next day they refused room service said they were understaffed yet cleaned most other rooms. Could not see bottom of pool. Bread products were stale, hot foods were cold no fruit.

Maybe we were put in one of the last unrenovated rooms, but it was definitely not up to BWPlus standards. We were quoted $220/night, so expected something nice - or at least clean. No, this room was musty, mildewy, and in bad need of attention. My lungs felt violated. It was so creepy, we didn't even take a shower in the tiny moldy, mildewy bathroom. We booked ourselves for four nights, but canceled the next morning with our list of complaints. The manager was super cool and understood, and we had no problem getting our credit card charges reversed. He even discounted the rate for the one night because we were so disappointed. My advice for Durango lodging, stay at the Strater. It's a gorgeous historic old-town hotel, the rooms are exceptional, and the staff is excellent. Sorry BWPlus.

This location was great for walking around Durango. They have a wonderful breakfast and bar. Nice rooms, pool and hot tub. This was perfect for my sister trip. Great location to travel over to Silverton and Ouray and return to hotel.

Great location if you're doing the train...6 minute walk from the hotel to the train station and downtown area. Hotel was nice and staff very friendly and helpful. Loved that they included breakfast and evening “happy hour”. Indoor pool and spa which our grandkids enjoyed. Would stay again for the convenience of the location.

Great place for kids. Very convenient location. Easy walk to train. Room was nice, bed could be a little more comfortable. Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was good. My 8 year old grandson loved the pool and he would go back.

Arrogant and aggressive front desk staff when I questioned the broken window in our room - reluctant to accept that there was a security issue The breakfast food was sub-standard The air conditioner was excessively noisy and workmen started working on the roof directly above our room at 8:00 am. We will never stay there again.

Other than the pool in the middle of the courtyard which is LOUD if you are in a room that faces it, is a good value for a tourist town. Excellent service despite being short staffed. The property needs some updates but overall would stay here again.

Older building that could use some renovations, but location was great and room was clean. We had an exterior room. I feel like the price was a little high for the room, but I took into consideration the location.

We stayed here because Best Western is good about allowing dogs. (We've been to several this summer.) This room was not good. It was not really clean, especially the bathroom. The bathroom itself was dated and worn out. The bed was not very comfortable. Parking is tough -- the lot is on a hill and it's first come, first served. Not close to the rooms at all. To top that off, the lot is not well-lit. We were offered free cocktails at the bar -- to make up for the shortcomings of the room?! We would not stay here again.

Great location in walking distance to downtown so you can leave your car at the free hotel parking and explore the area by foot. Property provides an indoor pool. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is a standard US hotel chain fare. The rooms are nice and clean and we were able to take our four legged family member along.

This was a pretty standard place to stay, though pricey, but all hotels in Durango are expensive. They have a happy hour, indoor pool, a hot tub, and a fairly nice breakfast buffet in the morning. Parking was tight, and housekeeping services were limited.

Older but very well maintained hotel tucked away in a corner just off Historic Downtown Durango. 5 minute walk to the train station and Main Street. Very nice staff who are on top of their guests needs. We stayed Monday- Friday, plus an emergency need for Friday night after my flight got canceled. They are linked to the other 2 Best Western hotels in Durango and would have called around to find us a room if need be. I have allergy sensitivities to scents and perfumes and made a request for housekeeping to not clean the room on Wednesday, just trash and towels, for that reason. Came back from being gone all day Thursday to find that Housekeeping had made up our room, cleaned the bathroom, and had NOT used any smelly products! They remembered and were awesome! Hot tub lost its heat on Thursday evening. One mention to a staff member who quickly notified maintenance, and the hot tub was worked on early Friday morning. Terrific experience here. Plenty of on-site parking. 2 free happy hour drinks per adult per evening!!!!!

I felt like I have overpaid for this room, Food & drinks are worst, Water pressure in the bathroom is not acceptable and worst, also inside the sink and bathroom water is not going properly. Overall it is not a best experience.

Love being able to walk to the train station and everything in downtown. Older hotel in good condition with large rooms and balconies. The free breakfast is good. Getting 2 free drinks per night per person is a great way to start the evening, or end the day if you're getting an early start the next day.

It was a nice stay for the most part! They're dog friendly which is a major plus. And it's conveniently located walking distance from downtown and the railroad! We walked over to watch the train depart every morning so that was nice. The pool is indoor too! I didn't like the fact that cleaning service wasn't an everyday thing. I understand covid and all that, but it's pretty much over so I don't know what the excuse will be. We also had a sign on our door saying we needed cleaning service and no one came by. Our room was on the outside so I'm assuming no one even went over there to check... On a side note: I was surprised at the employee up front running all over the place helping everyone in the hotel. They have 4 people working in the morning (plus the cleaning service people) and 1 in the evening… that's crazy! She was busting her butt for everyone!!! Give her a raise!!!

Great hotel with a reasonable rate for the area. Great location a couple of blocks from the train station. Great views of the surrounding mountains and of the Animus River. Immaculately clean, and a very friendly staff.

The staff with whom I interacted were charming and helpful. I appreciated the airport shuttle, not only for the convenience but for the chance to chat with a local resident. The location of the hotel was both convenient to the offerings of the town and just tucked away enough to feel comfortably removed from Main Avenue.

When I booked this hotel I did not realize where exactly it was located. It is about 3 blocks from the train station and a few blocks to downtown, all within walking distance. We did not move our vehicle for 3 days while staying there. That was a big plus. On the other hand, the stay wasn't exactly super great. The hotel needs a little updating, which is not that big of a deal. Our room was at the end of the hall and had a nice balcony overlooking the train yard, and it was a good sized room. The first night our bedding seemed damp; had the front desk staff come check it out. The entire mattress pad was still damp so had to change all the bedding. Needed to flip the mattress too, so my husband helped her do that. She had the wrong size pad so went back for the king sized one. Two other people came into our room then to make the bed. After they left, we made it a little better, to our satisfaction. They did give us a little consideration at check out for our trouble. A sign on the front door said we must wear a mask inside. So we did; however, not every staff person had a mask on the whole time. When they came to change our bedding, none of the 3 different people who entered our room wore a mask. Now we were ok with not wearing a mask most of the time, but when the sign on the door says we must wear masks while in the public spaces and the staff does not......We did enjoy the happy hour each evening. The breakfast left something to be desired. The no charge laundry was helpful, even though only one washer worked.

Staff was friendly and helpful throughout, room was clean and comfortable, interesting historic photos decorating the hallways and room. The blinds in our room were very good at keeping light out, unlike most places. Overall it was OK, but the facility itself is in bad need of an update, and not what i would expect for a BW+ that cost nearly $160 a night. A number of minor maintenance or wear and tear items in our room, holes in the ceiling in the hall from water leaks (roof was being repaired, and there was a drywall guy working on some of them), carpeting worn and quite dated, only 1 of 2 guest washing machines working, etc. The gentleman at checkout did make some adjustments to our bill which were appreciated, but I woudl have to say the physical facility was not worthy of the "Plus" designation from BW. With some renovations, it could be again.

We stayed three nights. During the second day while we were out, an expensive medical device was stolen from our room. This device was too big to lock in the safe provided and it grew legs. When we initially reported the incident to the front desk, the employee did not seem concerned at all and do not apologize. It was not until the next day when police and management were contacted that the issue was taken seriously. We had hoped it was simply a mistake and the housekeeper had removed it from our room thinking it belonged to the hotel, but no such luck. The device was never located and we're out $1,000 to replace it. The housekeeper also, on that same day, did not remove dirty washcloths from the bathtub. She was probably too busy doing other stuff. The hotel is old and it shows. They've tried to partially remodel the rooms to update them, but the age still shows in the doors, trim, and general decor. The pool is situated in the middle of the hotel with the rooms arranged around it, so the inside of the hotel is humid and smells like chlorine. The rooms are reasonably priced and the location is good, so it could be a good value as long as you're not out $1,000 to replace stolen valuables.

If you are wanting to have a good time while in Durango DO NOT stay here. What was supposed to be a fun and memorable family event unfolded into complete chaos and is now memorable for all the wrong reasons. The Manager had the worst attitude and was unaccommodating. I have stayed at 100's of hotels across the United States from Florida to California and NEVER HAVE I EVER HAD SUCH A POOR EXPERIENCE!!! The “Manager” was the worst Jeany possible I'm not even to sure because she was not wearing a name tag. She was rude and snarky mumbling under her breath and even trying to talk over me while I was speaking with her manager. I will say, the guys that were there before her were friendly and nice and helpful. It just takes one person to put a sour taste in your mouth. In the business of hospitality customer service is key! Guess she missed the memo! Thanks for ruining this once in a lifetime experience for my children! Oh and their breakfast was a joke too!

The lady at the front desk was friendly. Masks were “required” to enter however she was not wearing one. The partying and the noise next door was ridiculous the first night. The second night there was a family and still we could not sleep due to the tv noise and just plain talking that made it sound like they were in the room with us.

Both the shower and the sink took an exceptionally long time to drain, about 15-20 minutes each. When I reported it and asked for consideration of a partial refund due to the unsanitary, gross situation, I was told:: "These are new drains and maybe under warranty." This answer had no relation to our problem, and my request was ignored.

This may be due to 3rd party booking. I usually am prepared for a lower standard of service if we use Hotwire. We got one room and after the reveal on Hotwire we were excited enough to add a 2nd room based on researching the property. Check in had our two rooms on two different floors. With kids and no adjoining rooms we need something at least near the room the kids (with our 18 yr old kid in charge) would be in. They didn't have it although it appeared that the property was far from full. Problems happen, and as a biz owner of 25 yrs I can accept that, but the vibe was that they didn't even want to try. They also seemed to vibe that it was unreasonable for us to expect that. I was upset enough that I wanted to stay somewhere else. Due to COVID, Hotwire actually allowed cancellations, but it was not needed. My wife took over, got the manager involved and they fixed the problem. Bed was comfortable and the layout of the property was cool. I know there are many alternatives. I recommend trying them instead if you have the chance.

We greatly enjoyed our experience at this property. The rooms are well appointed and cozy. The staff was extremely friendly. It was 2 blocks from Main Street. They do offer breakfast with the room. We will be back!

Jarrod Judge, front desk manager was very rude upon check in. We were put in a room which was supposed to be out of service due to huge hole in wall, lights not working ect. We were told prior to arriving our ESA dog would not be charged a fee. Jarrod Judge said that was wrong information and we were charged.

We had to check out after one night and cut our trip short. The hotel and room was very dirty. The staff seemed bothered with any requests. The pool area didn't have any towels. The TV and some room lights didn't work.

First off I want to say we love the fact you can just walk to the train station from here that makes it nice. We have stayed at this hotel all four times we have rode the train. It's always been a little dated but I do think they have done some remodels since we were there in 2016. That being said it still needs to be updated. The main things we had issues with were the toilets not wanting to flush and the water did not drain well in the sink or shower. So when taking a shower you are standing in 4 inches of water. Another thing stating you have a grab and go breakfast at ottos and when we get there it ends up being you go to the front desk and they pull out some muffins and say that all there is. Just tell people you don't offer breakfast so they can be more prepared. When we decide to come and ride the train again we would still probably stay here just because we love being able to just walk to the down town.

There are more modern facilities in downtown Durango...and there are historic hotels...but for the price you pay at Best Western you get good value and comfortable beds. Unless you are a hotel snob, this property is in a great location for all your traveling around Durango. Walking to EVERYTHING...is super easy.

Love this location - so close to downtown Durango. Bed was very comfortable. We got a very good rate considering the location. However, the HVAC in our room sounded like a plane taking off, which ended up being a blessing because our room opened on to the pool area and it covered the noise of drunken guests in the hot tub after posted pool hours! Light bulbs in both bedside lamps were burned out. Microwave in our room did not work at all. The bottom door latch on the auxiliary French door was missing.

Great service. Front desk staff was friendly and accomodating. Room was very clean as well as the building and surrounding grounds. Pool and jacuzzi area well maintained. Property within walking distance of downtown Durango CO.

The location of his Hotel is close to down town and the Polar express. It's walking distances to all shopping centers and restaurants. The Hotel is pet friendly and allowed us to have both of are dogs. The staff are friendly and helpful. The indoor pool, gym and dinning area are clean.

Ive been staying here for over 25 years and I will continue. Love this place and its location in town. Employees are always nice and very helpful. Although it was during the pandemic I felt they did their best to make it a comfortable stay.

Excellent place to stay, clean, located in a great area. Main attraction downtown spots within walking distance. Great food and things to do all around you. I stay here very regularly, highly recommend it!

I had three nights to kill between jobs, and Durango, CO was between the two locations. I needed a quiet place to regroup, recharge, and chill out. Super happy I found the Rio Grande Inn. It's at the end of a dead end street, so there's no street noise. It's super quiet and I can't overstate how much that means to me. I know these are tough times with Covid restrictions and all, but this hotel has done a fine job accommodating. The dining room is closed, but there's a quick, hearty take out breakfast in the lobby. The hot tub was bubbly clean and perfectly hot. And something else you hardly ever see at hotels these days: washing machines that are complimentary. No coins needed! Nice, clean, front-loading machines (although one of them was out of order). It's two blocks from Main Street, easy walking distance to lots of restaurants. (Or at least there will be in non-Covid times.) I was super happy with my stay.

We choose this hotel due to its proximity to downtown Durango. Max at the front desk is a real gem. He got us into a perfect room for us and recommended a great spot for dinner. The room was very clean and had everything necessary for a great stay. The bed was comfortable and the amenities were all there. We will be back! Thanks, Max!

This is a great little property... 8 minute walk to Steamworks Brewery, 11 minutes to the Animus River Trail (and an Albertsons), and about 10 to all the shops and things on Main St. The price was less than most places in the area at the time. Samuel, at the front desk, was over the top helpful. Cool little indoor pool and hot tub. Like other hotels we've been to recently, the free breakfast isn't much of anything right now because of COVID rules.

The room was dark and dingy. The deadbolt didn't work. I could clearly hear the people next door and their dog. The so called breakfast was a prepackaged blueberry muffin. There wasn't even a bottle of water. There is only one ice machine, which was a long walk from my room. The only good thing about this hotel was that downtown Durango was a short walk.

Within walking distance to great places to eat and shop! It was a rainy time, so we did not get out too much. Staff was cheerful at check in and inquired about our day. Room was quiet and relaxing. Certainly would stay there again.

The room smelled of urine, and I was charged an additional fee for it. That does not make any sense! My dog never even leaves her kennel. It was also very old and outdated, especially the carpet and doors.

Perfect for walking downtown. Outdated hotel...small bathroom. Covid ruined our breakfast experience the grab and go was awful and they were out of coffee. If you're looking for just a place to sleep this will do. Very clean and took COVID seriously though. Made us feel safe.

The hotel is next to the train station and about a 5 minute walk to downtown for the shops and restaurants. Our room was spacious and clean. They said with COVID-19 they wouldn't come in the room unless asked, but each afternoon our bed was made and towels on the floor replaced. The indoor pool and hot tub were nice. I would probably stay here again depending on the room rate and if I were traveling with pets. Their pet rate is pricey.

i enjoyed my stay since the location was within walking distance of every place I wanted to go.Due to the virus things were a bit different than usually. There were no warm breakfast, the happy hour was cancelled as well as the restaurant. The property was clean and the staff was very courteous and helpful.

Way too many pets allowed. Dogs allowed to pee and poop on the grass right outside our room/deck. Room had pet hair all over the room, with a distasteful odor in the room. Parking was horrendous, particularly for senior citizens. No alternate options were available.

The internal courtyard and pool area amplify any noise or talking going on, making for poor rest. This was one of the pricier hotel options in Durango and it was really disappointing. The design of this hotel is not good if you want to rest.

If you happen to stay free for a night make sure you also book a reservation if you plan on staying more than 1 night. My husband and I were misinformed the day of check in on being able to extend our stay. When calling to confirm in the morning we were told we would have to move rooms and pay for an extra bed. When asking for a late check out for the inconvenience we were snapped at by the woman at the from desk reminding us what time check out was.

The location was perfect for our needs of walking into Downtown Durango. The room was older, but seemed clean. The staff was nice upon check-in and check- out. They changed our room from a king to two queens which was disappointing for my husband and I as this was my birthday weekend trip. But we were meeting people so my husband wouldn't let me call to switch it as we didn't have time.

Older hotel...very dark rooms but can live with this. What I would never expect is that you could not shower in the room. The bathtub water faucet was broken (dangling loose on wall) and the plunger to pull to direct water to shower was busted as well. Didn't notice till morning when I went to shower. Also, room AC was circa 1980s. Sounded like a small jet engine and put out very little cool air. Extremely poor night's sleep due to AC noise and how hot the room was in May. I did mention the shower problem to front desk. Not her fault I know but you might expect a discount on the room or offer another room to clean up in.

What a dump. Dark and Dingy. Really outadated. Rooms revolve around a common pool area, which is really diry. The hot tub does'nt work and the surface is so dirty i did'nt even want to step on it. They have no keycard access to exterior doors so anyone can access this hotel at any time. Way overpriced for this location.

Great place for me stay as I was visiting my child that goes to college in Durango...room was clean, bed was comfortable, bathroom and shower were great, WIFI worked, I walked to Main St. everyday...I have no complaints!

Good location! Can't beat daily walks into Durango... We didn't even use our car. Friendly hotel staff, clean room, reliable internet, nice hot tub for relaxing and good manager cocktail. Would recommend. It's one of those outside entering hotels so if you prefer all rooms to be connected inside, look elsewhere but otherwise, great deal.

Arrived on March 5 stayed 3 nights. Room and property were very clean. Breakfast was great, had 2 full time workers in there keeping it straight. Employees were friendly. Great location, 2 minute walk from Main Street. The reason I did not give a 5, and I am not trying to make a political statement because I know this is Colorado, but when I pulled to check into the hotel, there was a guest smoking marijuana on one of the front balconies. Also, a couple times during my stay I could smell smoking marijuana. I know this is a difficult situation for the hotel, but smoking is smoking. Regardless, I would recommend this hotel and stay here again

From the time I made a reservation til we left the hotel I was very impressed. The staff is all so welcoming and helpful, the hotel was very clean and spacious. The pool area and drinks kept us plenty entertained while we were resting in the evening before dinner. I love that we were able to walk downtown from the hotel so we didn't have to drive if we didn't want to. There are so many stores and restaurants within walking distance and we tried a different one each day. The breakfast (and breakfast staff) at the hotel exceeded my expectations. The fact that they had gluten and dairy free options sold me right there! The ladies helping out were so kind and friendly and kept the breakfast area clean and tidy. Rosie at the front desk was so helpful and welcoming! We will definitely be staying here again.

Great location at the end of Main just blocks away from the train station. great amenities, 2 free drinks each night, nice breakfast, great room. We got a room with a balcony, it faces the parking lot but that's ok. The place is great! Except for one thing. How can you have CNN on cable but not Fox News?

The hotel staff makes the stay exceptional and the hotel is located near several restaurants, which helps. I can easily walk to various restaurants and other businesses. It is also very close to the business that I work with while in Durango.

Overall it is a very nice place to stay on a visirt to Durango, CO. This location offers a full breakfast with very kind and friendly staff. they also include a happy hour evey night, which is great for a drink and chill out before a nice dinner that's probably in walking distance.

The Best Western is usually reasonably priced. You get a free breakfast and drinks in the afternoon. The staff is friendly and you are within walking distance of all the downtown Durango shops and restaurants.

Once again an enjoyable stay! Always treated so well by all the staff. Room comfortable and clean. Good breakfast and happy hour. We had a great time and love the location for easy walking distance to the Historical part of town. New Manager, Ron, so helpful. Gina and new gal in dining area very friendly and attentive to our needs. Zack, Jason, Andrea and the rest of the crew very nice to us. Always enjoy my stay here whether it is summer or winter.

don't stay here if you require quiet to sleep. one of the louder hotels I have ever experienced. it sounds like people are going to crash through the ceiling when they walk in rooms above. the screaming from the pool starts at 9 am sharp and it is inescapable until 9 pm. our 2 year old was not able to nap because of the screaming pool noise. the pool area itself is freezing because it is surrounded by about 30 exterior doors that are constantly opening and closing from guests (not exaggerating). as a result, adults supervising kids at the pool sit there in winter coats. in addition, the staff promptly closes all of the general hotel areas at 9 pm (probably due to previous noise complaints). as a result, there is no place for a large group to congregate after 9 pm. the location is perfect if you are staying for the polar express because it is in walking distance to downtown Durango. unfortunately, the quality of our stay was so poor we left a day early. the staff was generally friendly. the breakfast was the standard make-you-own-waffle hotel breakfast.

We were in town for the polar express and spent the night here. The service was excellent. Multiple staff members went out of their way to help us out. My husband and I received two complimentary drinks each and they stop serving at 7:30 and I didnt realize it was 7:35 when I went to get mine. The person in charge was nice enough to serve me anyway. Also, while in the hottub a staff member who was just passing by offered to turn the jets on. Which I thought was very nice of him to do so. The breakfast is also delicious, the waffles, biscuts and gravy, excellent. At another time I was walking to my room with my hands full and another staff member ran to open the door for me. All in all we received very good service at this hotel, highly recommend it. Its the little things that count and make you return!

We would definitely stay at this hotel in the future. It's location is about a 5 minute walk to Main St. and all the shops and restaurants. The train station is even closer! It was very quiet; clean; well decorated; and had a great evening social time by the pool from 5:30-7:30. Breakfast was very good and provided plenty of seating.

Great location. Within walking distance to historic Durango Train Station and Main Street. We were able to walk to Main Street for great restaurants and shopping and did not have to deal with the hassle of finding a parking space. Family friendly. Grand kids loved the centrally located pool and we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. And nice having access to complimentary washer and dryer. Nice complimentary breakfast with awesome attendants. And we also enjoyed the complimentary happy hour. Well maintained hotel. We have stayed here multiple times over the years. It is our hotel of choice when we visit Durango.

We had the best time in Durango and this hotel was in the right area so we could walk and shop all the local business. The kids had a blast swimming and meeting new kids. The only grip i have is that if you don't want to hear kids running all night above you make sure you are on the top floor.

This BW is so great! Loved my stay for 2 nights! Comfy and clean rooms, they had a great breakfast and offered 2 complimentary drinks per day which was awesome, they also had a delicious breakfast buffet in the morning. Pool was closed for renovations but I had no problem with it, looked like it was coming out nicely. One of the best hotels I have stayed in!

Its OK. The receptionist was very helpful , our room was fine , happy hour is good , breakfast is OK , indoor pool is good. Its very close to town and to the train station. There is a building site next door but our room was on the other side so not a problem.

After a week of tent camping in Moab I was ready for a nice bed, a swimming pool and a drink. I decided to spend the night in Durango on my way home. This hotel has been a favorite of mine for years. Super friendly staff, nice indoor pool, free happy hour drinks, reasonable rates and great location. Super easy check in. I got a king bed with an indoor entrance, right by the pool and hot tub. Great place for families too. The pool is indoor and heated. Free beers from Ska Brewing and walking distance to several restaurants and drinking establishments. I'll be back.

You won't go wrong staying here. It has everything you need, including complimentary happy hour, good hot breakfast. washer and dryer. Staff workers so friendly and helpful.Great location downtown, two blocks from train station. We enjoyed our stay and will return if ever in the area again.Only grip I have is I would have liked to have stayed in a room in the interior of the hotel.

this hotel is a bit pricey for a BW ..requested a balcony and it over looks the construction next door..they are building a new hotel this hotel in on a dead end road ..close to the train which was overcrowded....happy hour was awesome as was the choices for breakfast..only real negative i have is the fact that the pool is in the center of the hotel and it is not enclosed so the smell and noise of kids playing can be heard in your room..

I/we have stayed at this hotel numerous times in the past. We keep coming back for the friendly service as well as the convenient location. I can walk to the train station AND the nearby Starbucks! fair price, I just always want ti to be less. probably age related, lol.

Our stay at the Best Western in Durango was great. The room was nice. We did not take advantage of the pool. The day we were going to use the hot tub it was closed for cleaning but I was happy to see that they take the time to clean it. The location is perfect for walking around Durango. There was construction going on right next to the location but we were not bothered by the noise inside our room. We would definitely stay here again. I think it would be nice if they had a restaurant and room service. However there were plenty of places to go close by.

There's a lot of options in Durango, this was booked for me. I'm normally not a Best Western fan. The design, if not the execution, is rather dated, but it's certainly not run down. The on-site bar turned out to be a nice feature, as well as an outstanding breakfast buffet. Room was comfortable, and even though mine was on the construction side, quiet enough. Wi-fi was a better connection than Verizon, much to my surprise. But the location here is perfect, walking distance to everything yet out of the way of major traffic. If you can get here, you really do not need a car once you do. Staff was great, only thing that didn't rate a perfect 5 was the fact that the business center was down, so I had to get the front desk to print my boarding passes, which they cheerfully did. I've stayed elsewhere in Durango, have to admit I'd come back here first.

21 years of this property and just gets better. The staff is top drawer. The laundry room is great and FREE (just buy soap) new, modern appliances. Great breakfast and complimentary cocktails each night for those 21 +. Indoor pool for exercise or fun. Walking distance of the Durango train ( a MUST Ride event), all the best shops/gallery's/restaurants in town Comfy beds with lots of pillows. Great family property. Why stay any where else?

We choose a room with a jet tub and balcony. After a long day of exploring Mesa Verda I was looking forward to a jet tub. I started my soak in the jet tub and relized the bathroom floor and it was covered with water the tub was leaking. We could not use the balcony because of construction next door and constuction on the 3rd floor of the hotel. We were told we could be changed to a 1st floor room with no balcony and not sure of jet tube. We cut our 4 night stay to two nights and came home. What a way to celebrate our 53rd anniversary. Will never stay at a Best Western againn

Great price and place to stay in Durango. Easy walking distance to the all downtown areas. Would definitely stay there again. The rooms were just a little dated and there was a large construction project happening next door are the reasons for the star reduction.

Great run hotel. The staff are always on the ball and always pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is hot and wholesome. The green chili over scrambled eggs are to die for. The hotel has a number of large rooms with hot tubs and patios.

I stay at this hotel every time I visit the Durango area. The atmosphere, breakfast, front desk staff are always exceptional. Location is prime, too, walking distance to everything downtown as well as the Durango & Silverton Railroad.

Wife and I went on a 3 week trip for our 25th anniversary. This was, by far, the most disappointing hotel room. Toilet seat was eroding (lol), walls were damaged and door was so askew a gecko decided to come visit. We had ac unit on 62 all night and were barely comfortable. The TV volume was so low, we couldn't hear anything over the ac. Would love to know how this got a “plus” rating. After complaining, Mgr gave me 10% off.... staff was excellent, but I would NOT stay here again. If you want pics, would be pleased to send.

The location of this place makes it worth the extra money over some of their sister locations in the area. The train, a large number of restaurants and various shopping experiences are in easy walking distance. Rooms are clean and breakfast is adequate. Parking is good and secure.

The hotel was very convenient to city activities. The breakfast was good and the "happy hour " was free with two drinks per person per day. The room was clean and comfortable. There was some outside noise from the nearby highway but, that wasn't a problem. Parking was plentiful and the staff was friendly.

Major construction on north side for new hotel. Extensive internal renovations on third floor inside this Best Western. Neither mentioned on website, during booking, or at check in. Internal renovations with loud hammering, electric saws, and loud music from contractors. Called front desk. Reply was " Oh, they'll be done by 5 pm". Really?? This is acceptable for a $200 per my room? So, they knew they'd be renovating 3rd floor rooms, yet sold the rooms directly below! Manager stated "all owner's fault" and she could do "nothing but apologize." There for 4 days for our anniversary. Left on 3rd day. Happy freakin anniversary from Best Western!! If you're looking for a quiet, romantic, peaceful hotel- look elsewhere! I'm sure there will be a quaint and pointed reply to this from the hotel. Just remember, you lost a long time customer.

This hotel was within walking distance of the train and many restuarants, shops and bars. Very easy drive to any attractions. The rooms were nothing fancy, but they were clean and comfortable. Not a lot of room in the bathroom.

Hotel is in a great location a short walk from the many shops and restaurants of downtown Durango. Check in was quick and efficient, we had a disabled room(not sure why) , which was large and comfortable, although for a BW plus, I thought it was pretty tired and in need of modernisation. Breakfast was standard stuff, and quite busy in a small room, but of a reasonable standard. We only stayed one night whilst passing through, and would stay again, based on location.

I can not say enough nice things about this property My entire family enjoyed it so much the 4 nights we stayed, The Breakfast and evening happy hour were awesome, the location of the Hotel made it so easy to walk to anything in Durango, the Hotel offers interior rooms and exterior we stayed in room 334 and it opened up to the outside where we had a great view of the mountain and river and the daily visits of the resident mule deer in the parking lot., The Staff is 5 Star quality and Rosie is the bomb diggity..We Loved Rosie. We really hated to leave and come home.

We had great experience. Staff were very considerate and helpful giving us information about tourism ,restaurants and night activities. This only 3 minute walker to the Durango Silverton train station. They gave us extra water and amenities and free tavern drink cards . 2 per person per night stay. Breakfast was good.

We have been going back for years and years. never ask for the front rooms, they are loud and dark. the hotel is clean, well equipped, the atrium is a restful area if you dont get any sports group staying at the same time. If you do...oh well enjoy it anyhow. Centrally located...close to the train depo. Their food is within the same as the BW chain...hope they would improve it some day!!!

I was there with a group and our host picked this property. I have always been happy with Best Western. this property is 2 blocks from the Durango rail station and downtown area. Very convenient. The staff and service is top notch.and the best breakfast buffet I have had.

My first time to Durango and was thrilled with the location of the BW. The front desk team was helpful at check-in. An older hotel, but my room was comfortable and with the balcony I was able to keep an eye on my bike. I had an issue with my shower and sink draining and reported to the Manager. She was very understanding and assured me it would be repaired. When I returned to my room the drained worked very well. They provide two washers and dryers that were very nice without additional cost which was very helpful. Their fitness center was shared with the laundry room and also where housekeeping kept all their carts. A bit awkward with people doing laundry watching you workout. The cardio equipment needs some TLC and the universal weight machine did provide a good all around workout. The breakfast was OK and basic. I only went their once. They did provide me with a happy hour card for a couple drinks each night. However, being so close to main street and so many great bars and restaurants, I never joined their happy hour. Nice touch to provide the option. Overall a great hotel and I will definitely return the next time in Durango.

Two of my friends and I stayed here during our college girl trip :) it was amazing!! the location couldn't have been more perfect. it was a three minute walk to main street, which was packed full of local shops and restaurants. the train station is a five minute walk from the hotel, which came in handy when we decided to visit Silverton. the hotel staff was very friendly, and breakfast included eggs, sausage, waffles (which we had every day;) ), oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, fruit and a few other options. the rates were pretty great too, especially for the location. definitely recommend this place!!

Interesting Hotel. The location was very good for walking downtown. The parking was a little tight, but there was parking. Rooms were a little dated. The pool was inside in an atrium which was very interesting. What sold me on this hotel is that the hotel gives two complimentary drinks for each guest from 5-7. How much fun this was! The kids and we swam and we met so many different people as they actually left their room. I think this was a great treat! Also, the breakfast was a normal BW Breakfast, which we take advantage of during our travels!

This hotel was okay. Room and hotel in general, are dated. Nothing extremely special. Many of the rooms over look the indoor pool and the rooms feel like you're in a fishbowl. Large windows on french doors to enter room. Curtains lower so other people, for the most part, can't see into your room. We could hear most noises if people passed by our room and from the surrounding rooms. The light was burned out in the bathroom, but we had the heat lamp light to use. For the price, I would expect better accommodations. The hotel location is very nice to explore downtown. We didn't use our vehicle at all once we parked in the lot. The front desk workers were nice and helped us switch to a different fishbowl room. The first one was right where everyone comes in and out on the 1st floor. We did book through hotels.com so maybe you would have better luck just booking straight with the hotel to have access to better rooms on the property. That said, of course our kids loved the indoor pool and it's always nice to have free breakfast to feed little ones as soon as they wake up.

So this place is ok....the room is ok....the breakfast is ok....location ok....pool ok. It looks like a place that used to be and outdoor access that was enclosed later...but thats a guess....but it does have a dated feel. The lady at breakfast was awesome....as was the maid staff. The counter staff only seemed to know the word no. Not sure how to explain but it wasnt welcoming...something that chains like Holiday Inn Express have perfected. Best Western is trying to up their game with the plus and executive chains....but its not working. This is the kinda place that people stay at when the hampton, the holiday inn express or Marriotts are booked. Its slightly better than a motel 6 but still charges like a hampton. I would look elsewhere but if u have no other choice...stay here.

The hotel is over the top. We were traveling with my daughter and family so we had to rooms pool side very nice. We had plenty of parking and were with in walking distance of Durango train depo. Check in was a breeze as well as check out.Happy hour was a nice touch. Gave you time to unwind. There were several places to eat with in walking distance. I will stay here again if ever in Durango .

Everything was super nice, only issue might be the humidity caused by the indoor pool: we thought the room was reserved on points which the clerk upon check in confirmed but at checkout it showed we were charged on our card:

We stayed for two nights. The location is the only reason I would recommend this property—it is close to the railroad and most downtown locations. However the room was small, dark and not very comfortable. Parking was a challenge—so much so that we hesitated to go anywhere that was not in walking distance for fear of losing our space. The staff, although very pleasant, seemed poorly trained—It took numerous requests for a basic request to be met. Breakfast was average, but served in a back room that was crowded and uncomfortable. We skipped breakfast the second morning and went to a local restaurant instead. Overall, not up to the Best Western “Plus” designation. We would hesitate to return.

We stayed here tonight. The location is very handy you can walk to anything in the down town area. We had a suite very large room had 2 TVs and large sitting room they have a very nice pool area would stay again

This motel is in a great location if you want to park your car and not drive anywhere. We were able to walk everywhere in town, many places only minutes away. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful.

To be fair, the Mr and I are probably more sensitive, back-wise, than most people but OMG the mattress. We had to go buty a Wal Mart cheapo foam pad after night 1. If you're from Europe or otherwise use a futon or cinder block to sleep on you'll be right at home. I should say our room 1st floor which ringed the pool area was very dark. This hotel benefits from the lack of downtown competition I think. Staff was nice, they're doing what they can with the dated decor (if that sort of thing matters to you, it feels very 1985 Midwestern Holidome with the indoor pool surrounded by rooms.) Front desk helped me sort out a billing SNAFU and gave us a discount, always appreciated. Good selection of free drinks at the nightly happy hour. Breakfast is the standard for this level hotel. Not too many GF options if you need that. Looked like the kids loved the pool.

This was one of the best hotels I've stayed at. Very clean and all employees were friendly and helpful. Great Location for walking into downtown. Good breakfast. Pool clean and fun. Free washers and dryers, free cocktails, quiet at night. My king room had a jacuzzi and a balcony, and hide-a-bed, and desk and safe. Very roomy.. One problem--the room locks were not working many times. Had to get keys redone numerous times and maintenance person twice. BUT to my surprise when I checked out I received a $100 credit without asking! Will go back there.....They said locks were going to be replaced soon.

Stopped for 1 night on vacation you are able to park in front of your door if ground level (good for motorcycles) but the same breath, when you park, your in a dip, so if you don't have reverse, you really have to dig yourself out to flat ground. This is our favorite Best Western we've stayed at so far, but also the most expensive. The location is great!! In regards to the train station and town (pleasant town very charming!!) they had cocktail hour 2 free cocktails per person nice touch when you need to wind down after a day of driving, very relaxing you can sit by the pool, or in the lounge area. Breakfast was good the usual items nothing special. Staff was friendly.

This was our second stay at the best Western property in Durango! The location is very good to all the downtown shops in Durango everything is in walking distance so no complaints there. The things that we were unsatisfied with, the rooms are a little outdated no USB ports for charging you have to have a regular AC adapter to charge devices. They can also use a better quality toilet seat they were very flimsy and made of plastic and when you sit on them they would actually go off the side of the bowl this is not a good thing LOL! A positive is the staff and very friendly and willing to do whatever it takes to make you feel comfortable! Oh yes and the pool area gets a little humid and need to be better vented!

The hotel is deceiving from outside, as inside -- behind the bare-bones entry counter -- is a nice central area featuring an indoor pool. Our room on the second floor was actually off an exterior corridor and featured a small balcony (overlooking the parking lot not a biggie). I booked us here because of the great proximity to the Durango-Silverton Rail station, but actually we were delighted that most of the downtown shop, restaurants, etc were within walking distance. Although I believe the price may have been a little higher because of the location, it also meant that we did not have to find and PAY for parking in downtown Durango. I did not see any free parking in the area, but I may have missed it. The great location by the train, very easy to cut through by the delicious smokehouse restaurant (good & reasonably priced too) into a parking lot that led directly to the train station & museum. Of course, this also meant that the cinders from the train as it was in the station periodically spread throughout the area and it was best to go indoors if you were out on the balcony. Still our stay was very nice. The breakfast was typical for Best Western, with a few extras for Plus, and the hotel features a nightly happy hour with a free drink. A nice touch. Kids were enjoying the indoor pool and the water looked inviting. The staff was friendly, and the girl at the front desk went out of her way for us upon arrival.

So close to everything and I still had view of the river. Room and bathroom was clean and smelled nice. Plenty of towels and linens. Quiet and peaceful area. Parking could be hectic if peak of season but we got lucky. So so happy we changed from original plan to this. Only thing I think I could offer suggestions on is getting the pool cleared up. Beautiful pool indoors but so cloudy we avoided it. Didn't stop us from wanting to return though. We also hope the lady at the desk who was really nice to us when we arrived is having a better day. Our last night there I asked about, not requested, our room being available for another night. She then proceeds to roll her eyes and get pushy because I wanted to let my husband know it was and make sure that is what he wanted to do. If you don't like being helpful in a customer service position in a tourist town then you shouldn't work at a popular well located hotel! Again it won't stop us from returning but really hope she finds a better suited job for herself!

The best thing to say about this hotel is it's location - downtown Durango/train station within <5mins. Otherwise fairly average. We had a downstairs internal room which was very dark & tiny bathroom - a little depressing. Ask for outside room with balcony which look much better. Breakfast adequate but again nothing special. They have a free laundry which is a nice touch. Parking limited - if you don't get back by late afternoon the lot was full both days of our stay. Staff friendly. To be honest fairly average for the amount we paid given it was not cheap & the most expensive of our 12 hotels on our road trip to the USA & certainly not the best (perhaps hotels in Durango are more expensive generally?) - felt a little disappointed.

This hotel has a good location downtown, but our room felt like a motel room. The room was dark. The AC made the room feel like s sauna. The room and hotel smell old, smoky, and kind of like a cheap & dirty hotel casino room in Laughlin or Vegas. The free breakfast was not very good.

If you are looking for a great motel within walking distance to the train and downtown, this is it. It doesn't have much parking. The rooms are nice and comfy and the included breakfast is great. They also give two free drinks during happy hour.

Great location, an easy walk to town. Hotel is a little dated but their rates reflect that. Breakfast was good and the staff very helpful. Used the free laundry, which was great during a 2 week road trip. Excellent rating is based upon what your paying for a location this good.

Great value, location, service, room and staff. I have stayed there many times and have enjoyed the hotel and location. This hotel is always my first choice when staying in Durango. I routinely recommend it to friends and family.

Clean and comfortable but the stay was made special by the staff that went above and beyond to make our stay a special one. The location just a block from the south end of downtown made it easy to enjoy Durango on foot. Very good hot breakfast not a continental breakfast as I read somewhere.

I chose this property and was so happy- great free breakfast, set up early so you can get on with your day - the room was nice and quiet so you can get the rest needed, beautiful pool and jacuzzi for fun when it snowed , laundry on sight was key ! The location is perfect- close to everything walking distance and yet no late night noise !

The hotel is in a good location. Currently a large construction project is going on across the street. The building is dated. The air conditioning loud. The breakfast is free if you put up with paper plates, plastic utensils and high fructose carboloads.

We had a wonderful experience with this BW. It's no Ritz by any means but it had all the space and amenities we needs plus a lovely complimentary breakfast that kept us full. The faculty was top notch. Kevin and Rosie helped us with all our questions and concerns. Long story short, we had a bad Airbnb experience that we needed to flee from and ended up booking the Best Western Plus Rio Grande Inn. When we checked in, Kevin was extremely attentive and covered all of our options, including booking and cancellations within 24hrs. In the morning, after Airbnb refunded us and hooked us up with a new house, Rosie was at desk and was a class act with the answers for all our questions. She helped us navigate our cancellation and was a pleasure to work with. If you need a spot in Downtown Durango, I'd highly recommend this hotel. It's a close walk to everything you want, the facility has everything you need and the staff were awesome.

Overall this place was a great place to stay. Walking distance from downtown Durango, and kinda hidden which is a good thing because it provides for more quite and private time. The evening reception was a nice touch. The price I would say is more than I would usually spend for a hotel room and I kind of expected some kind of "WOW" factor but it was just ok.

The Best Western Durango has exceptional front end service. It is affordable, clean and comfortable. A very nice continental style breakfast is also included but with some hot choices as well. The Best Western Durango has a great central location for visits to either Durango or other locales in the area. Close to museums, shopping, schools, and highways and the airport.

My son and I came up to ride the train and go to Trimble Hot Springs. We were well taken care of by our hosts and staff. Room clean and roomy. Very convenient to walk to train and the downtown. Always enjoy coming here because we can count on a great stay.

From check-in to check-out, the BW Rio Grande Plus makes guests feel like they are at home. Historic downtown location , walking distance to shops and restaurants as well as the value for the room and amenities are unbeatable. Employees are kind warm and courteous , above and beyond , from Front Desk check-in to Housekeeping to Servers -all go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. The only downside is the hotel construction next door . Ask for a South Facing Upgraded King. Its worth it.

Near the interstate, near downtown, near old time Durango's trainstation. The personal are wery professional and friendly. They recognize you are a BW member. It's clean. A pool and a hot bubblepool is in the center of the hotel. We saw a lot of different groups in the hotel. Families, seniors, couples or just groups of different age whom all lived in the hotel. The breakfast was good and although there were almost a full bus of tourist in the breakfasthe food was refilled all the time. We choose a room with mountain wiev. We hope to be back some day.

My brother and I stayed here for 3 nights. Main reason to choose this hotel was its location and the price. The location is a 5 minute walk to Main street in Durango with its shops and restaurants. Really convenient. The room we stayed in was on the inside of the hotel adjacent to the inner court area with its pool. At first we frowned a little, but it was fine. No noise at all or other inconveniences. I kind of liked it that our front door was inside the hotel instead of at the outside as in a motel. The room was spacious enough with two queen beds. Everything was clean and neat. Furthermore we were surprised by the extra amenities. Early check-in and we enjoyed the 2 free drinks (cocktails and beer) every evening in the lounge. It is a simple thing but feels good. And I enjoyed the complimentary drop off to the airport at my choice of time. All in all, for us it was a very pleasant and convenient stay for a really good price.

Loved this hotel! It has a great layout with access to rooms from the outside as well as halls in the interior. Pool and whirlpool located along with the breakfast area in the middle of the hotel. Staff was great! Our room was spacious with a balcony that had a cafe table and chairs. It's located a block and half from the Durango Narrow Gauge Railroad. We were able to park our vehicle and walk to many restaurants and shops. There's even a movie theater close by. We had a great experience there!

We only stayed here one night on our way to Moab, but it was a wonderful stay. Our kids (ages 3 and 5) loved the pool. We asked for a room that faced the pool which worked out great to be able to come and go as we needed. Upon check in they give you 2 free drinks per adult which is a really nice touch. Made for a great end to a long day of traveling to be able to have a free drink while swimming with our kids. The beds were comfy and everything we needed was in our room. We enjoyed the free breakfast in the morning which was way more than the cereal, toast or waffle that most continental breakfasts offer. The location is also great and there is plenty of parking. We were even towing our pop up camper to use in Moab and there was parking for that as well! We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Durango.

I love the location of this hotel. it has good parking and easy access to downtown. The two free drinks per person per night is a big plus. The pool area is very nice and the rooms around the pool are wonderful. Price is reasonable too. I always stay here.

Hotel was chosen for price point and having a pool for our 10 yr old son. We didn't spend a ton of time there so it fit our needs. Reviews were accurate, as place was clean, staff was great, and breakfast and amenities were fine. Only downside was the room (2 doubles) was dated and small. Shower and toilet was tiny. Sink area in main room was fine but small. Beds were good tho.

This place has seen better days, but is pretty much what you'd expect from a Best Western. No frills, but no negative surprises either. 2 quick blocks from the steam train station and the scenic historic downtown. Don't trust the fitness center equipment. Just skip the free breakfast and enjoy some of the great places downtown instead.

Staying here was a wonderful experience. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and beautiful. The breakfast was plentiful and varied. Gina, who was the breakfast attendant, really worked hard and was very pleasant. Rosie at the front desk was absolutely wonderful, helping in so many ways, always with a smile. As we sat in the jacuzzi, several employees walking by offered to turn the bubble jets back on so we would not need to get out.

We stayed as a family of 4. Unfortunately, it was not a positive experience for us. There was a leaking faucet as well as significant damage in the room prior to our arrival. In addition, there was no parking when we arrived later in the evening. The most memorable part of our stay was the closet shelf and clothing bar that fell with a loud thud and woke us up at 3 AM, which significantly scared the kids. They did offer us a $35 credit for the mishap; however, it caused significant damage - the shelf fell completely out of the drywall. After that, it was difficult for the family to fall back asleep.

Great hotel. Fantastic buffet breakfast. Great pool and jacuzzi. They have great biscuits and gravy for breakfast but I always toast an English muffin in place of the biscuit. Great waffles also. You can walk to all of the activity downtown.

Love staying here and it is part of the joyful anticipation of visiting Durango. So well located, it is walking distance from train and Main Street shops and restaurants. Even tho I was here a few months ago, there have been more improvements. The room had new blinds as well as new art on the wall. The pictures were old, historical sights from Durango, very simple and charming. Room and property kept clean. The best thing is what is behind all the comfort....and that is the people behind the scenes...all the staff are polite and helpful. This is all managed by Erica who, like her staff, expresses enthusiasm and willingness to help. The thing I liked the least was the hot tub had a big issure the second night, but was very enjoyable the first. Response was timely to get it going again. My friends and I were well treated to a great breakfast as well as letting us gather en masse for our socializing apres ski in the evenings. I found the bed very comfortable and I am a picky bed/sleep person. I slept well...helped by "white noise" of the climate control fan. Looking forward to my next visit. Excellent place to stay. Erica, the manager is always helpful, courteous and wants to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. All of the employees are equally helpful and friendly. Rooms are always clean as well as lounge and pool areas. Stay here twice a year on average. Highly recommend this hotel.

Kind of dated but clean and easy walk to downtown. Good breakfast. Staff very friendly. One complaint was that a dog was barking next door til 1am. But after telling the front desk it was taken care of.

Family ski trip. I've come here since 1995. Love this hotel. Excellent location, easy walk to everything in Historic Downtown Durango. I believe this is the only place to stay in Durango, just sayin' !!

The general manager thought we lied when we found a bed bug beside my wife's head on pillow she said she would comp our stay once she gets a report from pest control stating there are bugs well if we found 1 then why did she not believe me after showing a pic. I felt insulted and desrespected after the way she talked to me . She definitely not professional and if she was in that position we were in I'm sure she would be writing a bad review also

Loved the location and how cozy the hotel was, staff was awesome and the room could not have been cleaner! The bar downstairs was very convenient and satisfying. I would definitely stay again if i return.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Best Western Plus Rio Grande Inn in Durango, CO. It was a little difficult to find using Goggle maps. Another map app might be better. The location is excellent for enjoying downtown Durango and the Durango Silverton train station. It was so nice to be able to walk to dinner each night and enjoy the cute downtown area. We really enjoyed the happy hour on both nights of our visit. The breakfast was very good; with many choices. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly

Great place for any age. Close to many attractions. Easy walk to downtown and train station. Friendly and helpful staff. Inside pool and jacuzzi. Complimentary happy hour every night. Great workout room. Wonder washer/dryer.

We stayed here last minute and were able to get the room of our choice. Raquel checked us in and was friendly and informative. I really appreciated her kindness. Lisa was the employee running the free breakfast. She was friendly, cheerful and kept everything stocked for an awesome breakfast. We will definitely stay here again

My wife and I stayed here two different nights on our way Northern Colorado, once going and once coming back to AZ The first night was a Tuesday, late check in and very pleasant. Hotel was quiet and we were on the 3rd floor. Parking was fine even in the heavy rain. Went to the room, soaking wet but couldn't get in.....they had us in the wrong room. Staff immediately came up, moved us and we got settled quickly. Staff was great. Room is outdated and in need of repair. Missing caulk on tub, mis-matched trim/doors, worn carpet vs. new coffee, and end tables. Bed was great. Comp breakfast next morning was good and again staff great. We came back on the following Friday, way more crowded as to be expected. However, this hotel has an indoor pool and the majority of the rooms face the pool and it can be quiet loud with the echo. This time we were on the 2nd floor right center of the pool which was stupid loud come breakfast time. Several families enjoyed the comp breakfast and ate by the pool, but had NO regard for those still sleeping at 0730. The noise from mere conversation was too much and forced my early wake up. Keep in mind we had driven 9 hours at check-in, then had dinner and just wanted at well deserved 1100 check out. There are several signs by the pool area that read....be quiet and respect sleeping quests, this went un-noted by at least three families with small kids who were really loud. The signs should be enforced but were not. Could hear the people on the 3rd floor all morning too, as well as the people next to us on both sides. Thin walls, loud pool, no enforcement of quiet hours...we will not stay again. Close to all the good places, Steamworks, Ore House, etc...but when booked up, no bueno. Small suggestion would be to not allow anyone in the pool area at night or in the morning considering how close all the rooms are and how much it echos. The comp breakfast and cocktail hour were great, just not when people are trying to sleep Not all of this rests with the hotel either. Parents, adults, need to be aware of their surroundings and other people...just because your up at 0730 doesn't mean everyone else wants to be, or just because your up at 2330 doesn't mean you have the right be loud...Staff, room, parking, access, location, amenities all great......poor building design makes this a no-go for us next time around....Only got three stars cuz of the staff, room and amenities.

We had booked a room at a different hotel, but upon checkin they informed us they had no hot water and wouldn't for days. We had previously had an ok stay at this Best Western so figured it would be fine to stay here again since we consider hot water a necessity. This stay was great! Our room was at the back of the property and so quiet. The beds were comfy and the room had been renovated. Breakfast was good and included. We will definitely stay here again if we can get a room at the back instead of the front which I think made a huge difference in noise. The location of this hotel is excellent if you're wanting to walk vs drive.

We had a 3 night stay with 11 people in the group. We had a great time! The hotel is so convenient to the historical downtown that we could walk everywhere. Rooms are clean and quiet, best breakfasts I've ever had in a hotel, and large indoor swimming pool and hot tub. Ample parking, good internet, great staff service.

This hotel is within walking distance to the Durango-Silverton train station and museum. Also within walking distance to downtown shops and several restaurants. Check in/out was prompt and staff was very friendly. They offered a "happy hour" from 5:30-7:00 PM offering mixed drinks and a select choice of beers. We received our complimentary tickets at check in. Breakfast had many choices from waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, cold cereals, breads, ect. The breakfast area was well stocked, clean and the attendant was friendly. Our room had one King bed, desk, microwave & a small refrigerator. It was roomy, the bed was comfortable, the linens were nice, it had a safe in the closet. It's an older property but well maintained inside and out. The pool and spa are located inside and in the center of the building on the first floor, use times are restricted.

We booked this hotel because of its proximity to the train station. It was just okay, I found our room a bit dark and also fairly noisy. They did offer the typical morning hotel breakfast and also a couple of welcome drinks served in the evening in the breakfast room. All in all it was satisfactory, but I think I would likely try somewhere else if I were to visit again.

When we have had a chance to go to Durango, this is my hotel. I know there's one or maybe two more in Durango, but I'll pay the extra and I know what I'm getting. This was my 3rd time there. Everything about this hotel is a plus.

I immediately felt the warmth and professionalism of the staff on arrival. Water was offered and staff was friendly. I have stayed here a number of times and must say this is an inn with a difference. It is about customer service and accommodation. After staying at many places, while on my 4 week road trip, this truly felt like coming home.

Stayed two nights, and was quite satisfied. Clean room, comfortable bed, and within walking distance of everything I wanted to see. Hotel provided shuttle service to the airport, so I didn't have to rent a car. And every single employee I spoke with was so very nice! The ladies running the complimentary breakfast made me feel so welcome. I would definitely stay here again.

We had reservations here for 3 nights starting on a Saturday. When we checked in we were given a 3rd floor room and told the elevator was broken but it would be fixed within the hour. We were given tickets for 2 free drinks apiece in the bar/lounge and told it would be fixed while we enjoyed our drinks and to come back in an hour. When we went back to the front desk we were told it would not be fixed until Monday so we requested a ground room floor. While we had been gone, all the ground room floors except one had been assigned. This room was small, dark and tucked into an alcove but we took it. It was definitely not up to BW Plus standards and really not up to BW standards at all. The sink was small and had a very small vanity and even though there was a blank wall on side of it, there was no towel rack for hand towels. We ended up hanging a hand towel on a clothes hanger that was in a closet area right next to the sink. We also found out that the ice machine on the ground floor was broken and the only one available was on the 3rd floor. When we went to adjust the temperature on the AC, we found that the knob on the adjuster was broken off. The front desk told us that they already knew that. It turns out there was a remote control for temperature but it was not in a spot where we had seen it. After we returned from dinner we put on the TV and found that the remote did not work nor could be change the channels manually. Another call to the front desk got us a repairman who tried everything he could think of and finally decided he needed to call a repairman to come to the hotel because neither he nor anyone he had already called knew what to do. Since it was already 9 PM, and he wasn't sure when one could get to the hotel, we declined the offer. We had nothing to watch but ESPN2 which was evidently what the last occupants had been watching. The repairman was very apologetic and kind of frustrated because of the elevator, the ice machine, our AC and our TV. He said he felt certain that we would be given a discount on our room or at least a lot of Reward Points. One morning when we got ready to make coffee we found that the grounds from the day before were still in the coffee maker. We never again saw the woman (manager) who had originally check us in and when we checked out there was no discount, no points...just our bill. This was a very disappointing stay at a BW Plus. The one saving grace was its location to the Durango-Silverton Railroad Station but there were other places to stay in this immediate area and I would suggest trying them.

Very dark and small. Bathroom extremely small. Over priced for the quality of the room. Have stayed in other BW facilities far better and much less expensive. Would not stay at this location when in Durango again. However, the location to downtown was good.

Worst pillows in the world - almost broke my neck. Rooms are dirty and we found mouse droppings in a folded towel. They do offer a wine happy hour but breakfast is just the old scrambled eggs and poor pastries. Would not stay here again and suggest you don't.

For starters the elevator was not functioning for two nights of our stay, pretty difficult when your father is handicapped. Parking is very limited. Turning the hot water to its full limit in the shower was luke warm at best. Not wanting to inconvenience breakfast crowd, by taking up a space to do work on computer, I found a table in the pool area (which was before pool hours but being fully dressed and working on the computer, I was obviously not going to be swimming) was kicked out of pool area and told to take up a table in the breakfast area at the inconvenience of those who were needing a table and seat to eat their breakfast. Rooms were small and not as pictured in the website, so please be aware. Air conditioning was extremely noise. For the price, not worth it. We found a new room for the remainder of our stay and was much more pleased with the lower priced hotel.

Stayed at this hotel because it is close to de durango steam train. It was a good choice as they looked after us very well. The room was really nice, with a good bed. There was a good selection at the complementary breakfast.

Rooms arranged around a central atrium with a pool in the center. Guarantees the odor of chlorine whenever one exitse the room Rooms are reasonable size; the light switch near the door turns on a tiny bulb in a far corner behind a wall leaving most of the room dark. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker TV. Bathroom sink did not drain: took two reports to get attention. The fix was cosmetic: the plug was detached from its controlling lever and needed constant fiddling Breakfast was pathetic. (Example- bananas sliced in half)The room itself was so packed with tables that they obstructed the access to the self-service counters. Two saving graces: a daily free cocktail hour, and the fact that almost every single employee had a wide smile on their faces!

Great room with great location. Minutes away from the train depot. Great little restaurants walking distance from the hotel. Pool was nice to go swimming in, however they might want to turn the thermostat up a bit. Can't wait to come back to Durango and stay longer.

i chose the BW RIO GRANDE Inn due to the extra ammenities, services and staff, not just the complimentary bfast and hh, but especially the airport shuttle. Given the choices , the BW offers comfort and conveniences to restaurants and shopping as well as an indoor pool and hot tub.

Had booked 2 nights so we could enjoy the town and train, ended up booking another night. We had a fabulous stay, Everything we needed was right there, Enjoyed the great coffee in the morning and the breakfast buffet. Very nice spread with attentive staff. Enjoyed the happy hour and also the free laundry. Parking was great, parked right outside our door. Very close to the train station. Overall Perfect for our needs.

The indoor pool was very inviting and the continental breakfast was very good. The mattresses were a tad too soft for me but I got used to it after a few days. The room key kept dying on me and had to keep replacing it. Other than that, the staff were friendly and very helpful. If you`re looking for a hotel within walking distance of the train station and good restaurants nearby, then pick this hotel.

This hotel is a little dated and the layout is a bit unusual, but we really enjoyed our stay. The staff, including the front desk, the breakfast ladies, the bartender, and the cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. They have a free, large breakfast buffet and a free happy hour every evening with a fantastic bar tender. The rooms are dated but clean. The beds are very comfortable. The hotel is in walking distance of the Durango to Silverton train station and downtown Durango, but is about a 20 minute drive from the airport. We stayed for 2 nights and saw the staff drain and clean the indoor hot tub and also deep clean the entire pool area

Haven't stayed at a hotel with outdoor corridors and window air conditioners in a long time. Stayed two nights only because I was with a tour group. The first night we had no hot water. Many people complained that their TV's didn't work. I never turned mine on. I did not feel safe in this hotel due to the fact of the outdoor corridors. Breakfast room was small. Pool in center of hotel so when you walked in all you could smell was chlorine. I will not be traveling with the tour group again because we were promised a better hotel and they apparently substituted in an effort to increase their profits.

We did not care for the traffic as we got there mid-afternoon. The hotel had a funky layout and we were not sure if it was a renovated office or what. Room was small and could stand some updates especially the French doors with full length glass going into our room. Complimentary cocktails were great and free hot breakfast was great too. Parking was an issue. We did not have a window.

This hotel is located close to the railway station and also close to the downtown shops and restaurants. We could walk everywhere including on the river trail , the visitor center the Eolus restaurant, the Gaspacho cantina. The hotel is so freewheeling , you can use the pool, the spa, the free laundry, the free happy hour drinks with OTTO , and of course the free parking.(In Durango, you can park for free only after 6pm) We had a room with 2 queens on the third floor with a balcony facing the street . this was a great location and the rooms were clean and spacious with good beds, great bathrooms and kitchenette

Other than being a little dated, everything was perfect! Convenient location, comfortable room, and great service. By far the best breakfast buffet we've ever had at a Best Western Plus and probably one of the best breakfasts at any hotel. The last "Plus" we stayed at in Lubbock, TX was a complete disappointment so this was a pleasant surprise!

Our room was a typical 2 bed room, there was not much room to move around. the outside of the hotel was overall good. the indoor pool and hot tub was OK sized but closed early due to the fact that it is in the center of the hotel and all the rooms that are"inside" would be effected by the noise so we has to constantly tell our kids to keep it down to not bother the other guests. The hotel offers a Managers Cocktail hour and they provide a limited number of free drinks which was nice after a long day. The breakfast/cocktail area was very small and crowded if you were getting up early to make the train. The food was not bad for a free continental breakfast, you got your basics, scrambled/ hard boiled eggs, sausage patties, biscuits and gravy, Belgian waffle make to order, cold cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt, assorted pastries and breads, several juice options, and coffee. You got free parking (which is a big deal) and you are in walking distance to the train as well as many restaurants and shops, we never moved the car till we left. On the down side this pace could use some updates especially the elevator it was not working properly and we had to take the stairs on several occasions so if you cant do stairs ask for the first floor just in case the elevator stops working. Hopefully there will be a few updates before our next trip back!

We always stay at this hotel when we are in Durango. It's at the end of the street so it's quiet. We can ride Durango Silverton rail road, lots of restaurants & can walk most places. They put on a hot meal for breakfast & have a afternoon happy hour with drinks. They have huge pool & hot tub in the center of hotel. I received a call a few days before we arrived saying they would give us a ground floor room as I requested when I booked months ago. I love their free laundry washer & dryer.

This hotel is reasonable and very clean. They do the best with what they have which is an older hotel. It is time for a refresh though (from the rugs and tile to the dark dated furnature and lighting). I can tolerate old but clean the one standout that is not acceptable is their antiquated and inferior in wall air conditioning units that dominate the hotel. They are so noisy both inside and outside the unit that you have a hard time enjoying the peace you crave when going on vacation. Hubby said you can land aircraft quieter. We honestly had a hard time sleeping it was so loud. We opting to not use it the following night at the expense of being hot. The breakfast was a nice benefit somewhat standard but very clean and orderly. The coffee needs a desperate change we found it to be of poor quality and left a black eye on the breakfast (it was fresh brewed). The complimentary newspaper was appreciated. We did not partake in the hotel happy hour preferring to enjoy a brighter more open environment for cocktails elsewhere. The staff was friendly and efficient.

This hotel, staff, views, cleaniness, and convenience exceed my expectations always!!! Every stay is amazing !!!! I highly recommend staying with Best Western Rio Grande Inn!!! You wont be disappointed!!!

This hotel was perfect for our family vacation. We were traveling to see Mesa Verde and stopped in Durango for the night. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance to shopping and dining. They have a cute pool inside the atrium. The breakfast was nice. The two drinks per person at the evening receptions was a great touch. We appreciated the complimentary laundry machines.

This Best Western is a great place to stay if you want something close to downtown Durango. We stayed here 2 nights in Oct 2017, rates were great and you can leave your car there and walk everywhere in downtown Durango and even walk to the train station. Rooms were nice and they had everything in them we need, microwave and refrigerator. They had a breakfast bar with cereal and breads and in the evening they gave you drink coupons I would definitely stay there again

This hotel is on the edge of downtown. It is comfortable with spacious rooms, microwave, refrigerator and safe. It has an indoor pool, jacuzzi and gym. The room includes a breakfast which is average. Scrambled eggs, sausage, breads, cereals, juices and coffee or tea. Fresh fruit. Service is good. The room is clean. I would stay here again.

We stayed 3 nights, Check in was easy and its just a little hard to make your way to it but we figured it out. We were on the 3rd floor and the pool is inside so it can be a touch noisy. They had a hot breakfast. The room was large had a balcony but beware if the door shuts on you while on balcony it locks sooo have your key. Our Balcony view was mostly the staircases but we didn't have time to sit we had a train to catch, ha!. They do offer a free drink during a social hour which was nice. The room is a little dated not many plugs had to use plugs in bathroom for phone chargers.

Beware. If you are looking for a hotel with available airport shuttle, this might not be the best choice for you. You have to arrange for that in advance or be stranded as it happened to us. Then, don't call them because they will be rude and hang up on you. Also, upon arrival, they will make sure you get the worst room in the whole hotel. If it hadn't been midnight when all that happened, I would have canceled our reservation and gone somewhere else.

Having toured the arid Arizona plains, it was a pleasant surprise to see trees surrounding the hotel. The unusual layout provides an atrium with enclosed pool/Jacuzzi. Each room has double French doors, but heavy curtains block light (and voyeurs?) from peeking through. The room I occupied on the third floor was spacious, clean and comfortable. A small balcony provided a view of mountains, something not seen in Central Florida. Accoutrements of a hotel mean little, if staff members are not accommodating. And this hotel has superior staff. Each person greeted as I came in from stimulating the local economy. There are two excellent restaurants within sight of the hotel. One thing that surprised me is free self-service laundry. Yeah, you read that correctly. Two washer/dryers are just beyond the fitness center available to guests at no cost. I had laundered clothes in Page, Arizona two days before, but it was a thrill to take care of that task a few days before returning to Orlando. Another pleasant surprise was free happy hour, something that many hotels in Israel provide. Each evening, our tour group gathered to discuss outings during the day (Mesa Verde). Each time, I requested a premium tequila. The barkeep asked if I wanted a double! Twist my arm? Of course, a double deserves a triple tip. This phenomenal “hometown feel” hotel was welcome, especially after a long journey through dozens of national parks and monuments.

Good place to stay in Durango, just near the railway station and the historic downtown area. They have a happy hour with free drinks round the indoor pool. Room was fine decent size, clean with two queen beds. We stayed here for one night but wished we had stayed for two as there is lots to see in this area.

This hotel is a great location for walking to the Train Station and the down town area. There is a great indoor pool and the breakfast is very nice with many choices. We had a pet room and it was clean and the beds are nice.

Chose this hotel in Durango because of its good reviews and being two blocks from the Silverton Durango train depot. Even though our train Excursion got cancelled due to the fire in San Juan National Park, Durango was our next stop anyway after Mesa Verde National Park so we decided just to spend the night and head home from there. It actually worked out great it's only a short walk to the old Main Street where all the restaurants bars and shops are at. They were able to get us in the room early so we went downtown and found some lunch and walked around a little bit. The hotel was a little hard to find but the navigation took us right to it. The Hotel was great staff was very friendly and room was clean. Nice modern up-to-date hotel with all the normal amenities. They have a very nice indoor pool setup and on one end is the room where they serve the breakfast. We left early the next morning and didn't get a chance to try the breakfast. There's a bar in the breakfast room and part of the package is that in the evening each person gets two drinks. They have a couple of different beers and the bartender can mix a few special drinks. There's a really nice movie theater next to the train depot so we saw the 4 p.m. showing of Jurassic Park. Across from the hotel is a really nice Mexican food restaurant called Gazpacho so we got some take-out and took it back to the breakfast room and enjoyed our supper with the free drinks from the bar. Even though we were disappointed about the train trip finding this little spot in Durango was a welcome surprise, we quite enjoyed it. Hopefully we can reschedule the train Excursion someday in the future and if we do we plan on going back to this hotel. would recommended for anybody staying in Durango especially if they're planning to ride the Durango train to Silverton.

We spent 10 days on vacation in May. Out of the eight hotels we stayed at, this was the least secure. My niece's Samsung Galaxy 9 disappeared in a public area. There were no cameras at a vacation-type hotel in public areas. No one offered her an opportunity to speak to a manager. The day we left the hotel confirmed what was overheard, and that was the breakfast tip jar was emptied by someone the employees were heard saying they thought the guy was a guest, when in actuality, he just strolled on in. The sad thing is that the hotel had a nice pool area, is located in a convenient area and has a manager's reception. Still, because of the lack of security and uncaing front desk help, I cannot recommend this hotel.

This is our go-to place when in Durango, CO. Always friendly, clean, and good amenities. Apparently there's been some remodeling, and a shelf fell down in our closet. The maintenance staff were responsive and courteous. It was fixed quickly and without a mess. The hotel is an easy walk to town, no need to drive. We especially enjoy the complimentary breakfast, with enough choices to please everyone. Staff are pleasant and interactive. There is also Happy Hour in evening with drinks served. Thanks so much for an enjoyable stay.

We were booked into this hotel in late June on an emergency basis by a relocation service after we had to vacate our home due to a plumbing disaster. It was hot, and the room air conditioner, though set at 60, only brought the indoor temp to about 74. When we informed the management of this the next day, they said they would give us "a new one." They swapped out ours for another one, also set for 60, which did not decrease the temperature one iota. Or at least, they said they put in a different one; I suspect they just washed the dust off the old one. When we checked out the next day - the relocation service found us a much better room at half the price - we received a bill that showed everything had been paid for, and we went on our merry way. Three weeks later, we get our credit card bill showing they charged us $40 for the pet fee as an "incidental," when that fee was supposed to be included as part of the lodging that the relocation service would pay. When my husband went to the hotel to get this straightened out, they basically told him "Tough luck. We always do it this way." The relocation service almost instantly sent us a check for $40 as the quickest way to get this settled, but . . . the Rio Grande should have told us about the charge when we checked out, and we could have straightened it out then.

Stayed one night so was OK. The room was clean enough but rather dark. Very small reception area with no real lobby. One good point : a couple of free drinks ( beer, wine etc. ) from the bar. The big disappointment was the breakfast where we had to use flimsy paper plates & cups and cheap plastic cutlery. Not much choice either. We stayed here about 25 years ago and our recollection was that it was much better then. Within easy walking distance of historic steam railroad and downtown Durango.

Even with TM the difficulties of the 416 fire, staff was wonderful and extremely hospitable!! I appreciate their efforts taking care of the firefighters-very noble.Still plenty to do in town. Smoke clears out in the morning and weather is beautiful.

We were taking the Durango - Silverton train ride so needed a two-nights stay in town. The BWP Rio Grande inn is next to the town center, walking distance to everywhere, most importantly´to the railway station. The hotel is newish and clean, personnel very nice, good room and (important for the kid!) an indoor pool with jacuzzi. The beds were fine, but the sound isolation felt weak, we could nearly follow the conversation in the next room. Fortunately the people were quiet. We used the complimentary self-service laundry, only the detergent had to be purchased from a wending machine. The washer and dryer were new, clean and worked well. The elevators became a kind of a joke, they were so slow. But who is in a hurry when vacationing ... The hotel offers a "manager's reception" every night with a couple of free drinks for adults, have not seen this perk often. The breakfast was standard, nothing was missed but the space was a bit cramped. All in all, this hotel can be heartily recommended, good location is most important!

Nice enough for a 2.5*. The safe didn't work and the breakfast is Lousy very few choices. But it was a large room, quiet, clean and had good hot water. Good enough for one night while visiting the area and taking the old time train ride.

Location is excellent if downtown is your interest. Only a few blocks from downtown and restaurants. Also very close to the Durango & Silverton railing. Rooms were comfortable and nice size. Breakfast was not much but didn't expect much. Free beer at night.

We were riding the train so we wanted a hotel within walking distance of the station. We were just down the street. It was perfect. Clean, comfortable hotel with hot biscuits and gravy at breakfast . Free drinks at night. Large room with balcony. Bed was perfect. Really nothing bad about this hotel.

We traveled to Durango and our stay was two nights over three days. The B W allowed us to park there while on the train ride. The Hotel staff was pleasant and informative, rooms clean with excellent cocktails and a worm hot breakfast. We deffinately will stay again.

Overall the stay was good. The breakfast was a big hit for the kiddos. There was a great selection of food and plenty of it. Downside was that there were 3 or 4 other soccer teams staying at the same hotel so there was no place to eat breakfast. The indoor pool was nice but too small for the amount of guest.

All the activity in Durango was in close driving distance and mostly walking distance from this hotel making the trip pleasant and efficient! The staff was very warm and welcoming with every interaction, handled our sports team and parents very well!

You are in historic District and there is so much to do. Wonderful food and alot to see. Close to the rail road that takes you to Silverton. All day trip but what a view. We had the hot tub to our selves.

The BWPlus was wonderful. All of the staff was super attentive. This facility is dated but very clean. Free wifi, free breakfast, free happy hour, you can't beat it! We were able to walk to everything... the train, fabulous restaurants, etc. Would book rooms here again!

Only a block walk to Durango's Historic downtown. Very friendly, with comfortable rooms, good breakfast. Plenty of parking outside, and reasonable price. Indoor pool is a centrepiece of the hotel. Air conditioning was very noisy, but a minor complaint on an otherwise good stay.

An unusual building with a swimming pool and spa in the central atrium and rooms around the outside on three levels. Easy to get to. Comfortable and quiet room. Good breakfast. All for a reasonable tariff.

The hotel in conveniently located in the Historical District in downtown Durango. When arriving, we were greeted warmly by the receptionist and when asked for restaurant recommendations within walking distance, she recommended the Palace Restaurant, which was right on. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. We especially enjoyed our two free drinks back at the hotel bar pool after dinner. We met a couple there and sat down next to the pool and had a nice visit with them. So relaxing. The bar tender then gave me a full refill of my wine, after already having my two complimentary glasses, in a huge glass to take back to our room. Definitely recommend this hotel!

We spent 4 nights in this hotel. It was very convenient to downtown restaurants, pubs and shopping plus it is only 1 1/2 blocks from Durango Silverton Railroad. Good breakfast and the cocktail hour had a nice choice. The staff was very helpful. We had a poolside room which could be a little noisy, but was convenient.

Just checked in and what a pleasure it was working with Erica and Catrena...they were so pleasantly accommodating with our requests that it really made us feel welcome. Room is super clean, bed firm like we love, linens soft and clean. Managers reception with two free alcoholic drinks per adult capped an excellent day. We have stayed here before but this time made us lifelong customers...we'll be back!

Stayed in Durango ago five years ago for a wedding stayed at this same Hotel. Wow the Hotel is great looks like its been recently upgraded nice big open floor plans. We stayed in a King with a jacuzzi tub and even a nice cute balcony it was awesome.

I couldn't be happier with my 2 night stay. My room was very clean and the hotel is conveniently located in downtown Durango. Upon check I was met by a smile and instantly felt welcomed by Hannah. She was very informative about various activities and restaurants throughout the Durango area.

This Best Western in Durango, CO (first time there) had a really a welcoming and friendly staff to check us in. Lovely, warm decor. Guess what.....complimentary cocktails at 5:30 pm.....such fun. Full breakfast in the am. Very good Wi-Fi, nice cable TV. I would love to go back to Best Western-Rio Grande.

My son couldn't pick me up from the airport and I had booked at a different motel in Durango. Knowing that the shuttle service would cost about $80 round trip, I went looking for a hotel that had a shuttle service to the airport. The cost of the BW room was about the same as the other motel plus the $80 and that was the deciding factor. Add to that, it is walking distance to everything you need. People are very friendly there, room was great, quiet, the coffee in the morning was good and they had almond milk!! It will be our go to place for future Durango visits.

Great staff friendly our new favorite place to stay always clean great location close to everything. I tell everyone how great it is . we try and stay at least every other weekend we have goten to know the staff

Going on 20 years at this property and it just keeps getting better. Free washer/dryer (just buy the soap, they have it up front) Awesome pool (heated) for the kids. Walking distance to everything fun in Durango. GREAT BAR and TWO free cocktails/wine each night for the 21 and up :) Freshly re-done rooms comfy beds and a block and half from the train. Great mini gym too.

I love the pool with poolside rooms and how close hotel is to downtown fun. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Only issue was the poorly installed/unlevel tub. When showing, there was no way to prevent a flood of water on the floor so wet had to use many towels to soak it up.

we were in 233 which is in the outside so u had to walk outside to get inside to the pool.which we didn't like because it was cold.it is very nice that the adults get a free cocktail but if u don't drink than it's not a treat for u.where i was most disappointed was with breakfast.the eggs are powdered and wet, the sausage looked boiled and the tortillas were strait from the bag cold..if u can give free liquor to people you can spend more money on a better breakfast. the breakfast lady was really nice.

We have stayed at the Rio Grande Inn quite often and always enjoy our experience there. It is an excellent location, has very comfortable rooms with cozy linens, pool, cocktail hour & breakfast. The staff is excellent. It is always our first choice in Durango.

We love staying at this Best Western, but this year instead of letting me know I can't pay cash for our rooms, like I did the previous year, I was told to go to the nearest store and purchase a card to use for the transaction. Not what I wanted to hear after being on the road all day, and who doesn't accept cash? Also, the shelf with the safe on it collapsed in my daughters room. They simply moved her to another room. This could have been detrimental had it fallen on my grand baby.

This is a good value hotel! But the pics are deceiving. Our room was kind of old, but clean and comfortable! Good location in proximity to downtown Durango, but we still drove. Parking is free. The breakfast area is very nice and the attendant is super helpful and attentive!

I selected this hotel based on it's location to downtown Durango, our previous stay was at the Strater Hotel. This Best Western is above average in price compare to other hotels in the area, so I expected a great experience. We stayed in room 311, third floor, room doors facing the pool, balcony facing downtown. Immediately I was concerned about the rooms having windows on the front doors, as this could have an effect on privacy and sound proofing. Turns out I was correct, while the windows had curtains, there was a gap between the double doors almost a half an inch wide. This allowed quite a bit of light to shine through and also plenty of noise, as the pool is directly outside the door and down three floors, within a main atrium. If there is anyone in the pool, you will here them loud and clear. The room itself was roomy and comfortable, bed was firm (how I like it). The room also had a couch, microwave, and refrigerator. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub. The balcony view was obstructed, but we didn't spend much time out there, as it's still a bit cold. Front desk service was courteous and prompt, check-in was a breeze, as was check-out. During check-in, we were provided a ticket for 4 free drinks at the bar (a nice bonus). I could see myself staying here again if it weren't for the front door and noise issues. While my experience was "poor" I would have to rate the property as "average".

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times while visiting our college student. It is a bit dated, but has always been, welcoming, clean, great service and within walking distance to everything on main street (shops, restaurants, train). We have stayed in a few different types of rooms (outside entry standard rooms), inside standard room, king room with balcony. This hotel features an indoor pool/hot tub in the center of the hotel with most of the rooms overlooking pool/hot tub. Every evening they feature a complimentary cocktail hour and in the mornings, complementary breakfast. Free parking and wifi.

we went down for Polar Express train ride and this hotel was almost in the same parking lot! was great for my family and I, rooms where comfortable and kids loved the pool area!. it was very cool they had bar at night for adults and gave two free drinks a night, i would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Stayed here on a recommendation from a co-worker. Very easy parking for big vehicles as we were driving a 30ft bus. Front desk staff was very nice and accommodating. Got us a room right by where we parked. Bed was very comfortable. Room was clean and ready when we got there. Very convenient to Main Street shops ands restaurants. Walked to them and walked home. Very nice place to stay.

Location is excellent. Staff helpful and caring but miscommunications regarding various issues did take place. Therefore confirm information. Mattresses are terribly uncomfortable - unbearably hard. Improvements can be made on the "Deluxe Breakfast".

We love this motel's location, indoor swimming pool, and outstanding staff. The rooms are spacious and many rooms have jetted bathtubs to enjoy. They have complimentary cocktails. The entire facility has a wonderful, warm vibe.

this hotel was within walking distance of the train station when we did the polar express. We booked because of location only, but were very pleased with the set up, warm pool for the kids and happy hour lounge for adults while the kids were swimming. We will definitely stay here again if we visit Durango in the future.

Best hotel ive ever stayed in!!! Staff was great!! If i come back to Durango ill definitely stay here. Place was well maintained and the room was perfect. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was great.

I would bring my family here for a vacation next year when we come back to Colorado on business. The staff was very nice and the room was just what we needed for our current stay. The pool area is right of the lounge so you can keep an eye on the kids while you relax.

This is a great place close to downtown Durango. The evening 2 free drinks is super. The quality of the breakfast is not so great. The room is large and comfy except for the heating unit. Has a pool area that is nice. Staff is helpful and friendly.

Great location easy walking distance to everything. Rooms were ok. Breakfast was not that good as years past. It seemed that the food was average at best. Service from Gina was exceptional. She remembered my family from years past and she was very personable. She kept the entire space clean and well stocked. She deserves a raise.

The exterior of the hotel was nice, even the lobby, and pool, but all this changed once I walked into the room. The room was old, everything was a different color, it was dim, the heater was loud, and there were no channels to watch on the tv, cable was hooked up but did not work.

The hotel is convenient, comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are quiet and the beds are comfy. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. We have stayed here over and over again and will continue to stay there when in Durango.

This hotel is a nice clean hotel. Nice pool, hot tub, breakfast, happy hour. Easy walking distance to the train station and downtown. Not sure there is too much more you can ask for. I would suggest if you are staying there in cold weather that you ask for an inside room as the corner rooms could be really cold since they are near outside doors.

We have stayed at a lot of Best Westerns. This one has been the best! The staff was always so helpful. The breakfast were great! The two free bar drinks was enjoyable. Also there were washers and dryers available at no cost to use for the guest. We washed out clothes the night before leaving. The only problem we had is that the hot water in the shower was just above lukewarm.

This hotel is great for families, and is a couple short blocks from Main Street. We were in town for the Polar Express, and it took under ten minutes to walk to the train depot. Everything was super clean and well kept, and the rooms themselves are great — comfy beds, nice tv, WiFi, clean bathroom, etc. Do request a room with a window to the outside or with a balcony. We had no outside light — our room opened up to the second floor hallway and it seemed at times that walkers by could look right in. We did miss the daylight, but some of the balcony rooms looked lovely. The pool is well-loved by kids, and it was fun and relatively clean! The pool area definitely got a bit rowdy in the evening, so if you're hesitant about kids, you might look elsewhere. Our kids LOVED the pool and the breakfast and everything about the hotel. The breakfast was crowded but good, and all the staff members were super friendly. Providing cocktail hour drink tickets was a sweet touch!

We stay here on both ends of air travel as we are a three hour drive from the Durango airport, which makes for a much less stressful flying day. The airport shuttle service has always been on schedule, even waiting for us upon the arrival of our flight. The hotel is clean and comfortable and is within walking distance from downtown. We will continue to schedule our flights to include the BW Rio Grande.

This is an average hotel with a great location// walking distance to downtown Durango, which is nice to imbibe and not have to drive! The room was clean and reasonably priced ( stayed off season). My major complaint was our room location. It was right next to the pool, and the way the hotel is designed, a lot of people passed by our room. At all hours of the night we could hear people in the hallways. Not very restful at all. The door to our room opened right up to the pool, so anyone at the pool could look into our room, as the bed was the first thing you see when you walk in. It didn't feel very private. I was contacted by management about my complaint, and they simply said I should have booked a room not by the pool, they have have other rooms. Easy for them to say, I booked through the hotel's website, and that wasn't an option. Nor was there an option when I checked in. Long story short, we had a lousy night sleep because our room location and hallway hotel noise. Everything else about this hotel is great. I would stay again if not near the pool. So if you value a good night sleep make sure and request a higher floor room away from the pool!

Hotel is clean, comfortable and convenient location to downtown Durango. It is within walking distance to the train depot and all the shops and restaurants in historic downtown. Everyone at hotel was courteous and professional, breakfast was typical fare not memorable and the free drinks at happy hour is nice before heading out for dinner. If you're in Durango for the train and downtown this hotel will serve your needs. We booked a room with a balcony but never used it the view was obstructed by the outside staircase, you can save $$ by not having a balcony.

We were just here for one night but it was centrally located in order to walk to downtown. Every person we encpuntered, who worked for the property, was friendly and engaging. We plan on venturing back one day and will certainly be staying there.

Putting aside the fact that the facility layout is dated as are the rooms, the staff goes out of their way to provide a good lodging experience. The front desk accommodated several requests without complaint. The happy hour is a welcome benefit. Everyone was friendly. Breakfast was ample if standard fare. But be sure to ask for an outer room if you want a window.

Location is great. Easy walking distance to center of town and restaurants. Views from the 3rd floor are great including the Las Animal River and foothills. Very quiet even though close to highway. Wonderful interior with glass elevator next to the swimming pool. Convenient parking. Beds plush and comfy!

very hotel employee i came in contact with was friendly and helpful. All equipment was working (that's rare). I thought the breakfast was first-rate, and the free drinks in the Lounge was a excellent touch. I've never been in a hotel that was so well-staffed and expertly managed. Great job, everyone!

There were 10 of us on this annual birthday trip to Durango. The Best Western is always our choice because of the friendly service, indoor pool, free breakfasts, and closeness to the downtown area. You can't beat the price for a family outing.

This a great hotel. Some rooms have private balconies. The pool and hot tub are great with powerful jets in the Jacuzzi. Breakfast is included in the price and it is a full spread of eggs, ham, sausage, biscuits and gravy, cereal, fruit, yogurt, fruit, waffles, bagels and more. All in an easy walk to EVERYTHING downtown!

This is a great hotel. Convenient to the train depot. Great location, which is quiet but also near the train depot. Easy walking to the train depot. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Rooms were clean. Atrium with the pool was nice.

This Best Western is conveniently located within the Train Depot of the Durango/Silverton narrow gauge rail line. It's also a five minute walk to all the restaurants and shopping district in downtown Durango. The building itself is beautiful and built around the swimming pool. The courtyard is the pool. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast serviced was delightful with something for everyone including fresh hot food. The rooms are clean, but the beds are just OK. we will be staying here in the future.

Great location, great pool, rooms average, breakfast area ok, bar area bad. Price was high! Two block walk to downtown very nice. Parking was good, hotel close to the train a most do while you are there. Lobby very small but did offer a few things people might need. Rooms were cleaned fast each day and employees were very friendly.

The Hotel is in walking distance of the train and shops! The hotel staff were very friendly. Room was clean and tidy. For an older hotel it is well kept. Only thing we thought odd was no screens on any windows! Could be because it was October..... not sure but that did bother us a bit as we had window open and there was a walkway along the exterior rooms.

It's easy walking distance to a lot of great restaurants and the main strip in Durango. Little kids seem to enjoy the pool. Adults seem to enjoy the free drink from the lounge during happy hour. Rooms were clean and have reliable internet available. I would stay there again.

Good Breakfast and very nice pool. Location is perfect for walking to downtown and the train station is only two blocks away. We enjoyed being able to walk downtown. We did have some trouble with the hot water in our shower in the morning but the maintenance man seemed to fix the next day. The Jacuzzi tub was not worth the effort of filling up the tub and of course the water was not hot.

This hotel is conveniently located next to the railroad and walking distance to historic downtown- the primary reason we booked it- the staff were very friendly especially the wonderful lady taking care of the breakfast area which was very good- the room was AWFUL- when we walked in there was an immediate odor of mildew coming from the air conditioner- the bed was hard and I could have had a better shower with an outside waterhose.

Very nice and close to everything. Reception nightly to socialize with other guest and free drinks. Nice pool. Very clean and updated. Never had to drive anywhere all was in walking distance. Close to highway and easy to find.

Best Western has put together a winning combination here in Durango. The location is perfect, being so close to the center of Durango and very close to the narrow gauge railway. The facility is well maintained and up to date. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hot breakfast is one of the best to be found on the road. Sandy, the breakfast manager, cheerfully greets everyone and makes sure everything is in perfect order. In addition to the complementary hot breakfast, the hotel offers a nightly manager's night with complementary cocktails served by a cheerful bartender. All of this amounts to a hotel that far exceeds any reasonable expectations.

Stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed every moment of them! Great area to hike, and do outdoor activities. Dan and Zach at the front desk were awesome, and made everything go smoothly! Awesome access to downtown and the train!

Have stayed at this property once before and it didn't disappoint again. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the free cocktail is a nice touch. It's very easy to walk to bars and restaurants in downtown Durango.

We took a trip through Colorado and we stayed several nights in hotels. This hotel was not as nice as some of the other Best Westerns we stayed at in other cities. It was not worth the price of the hotel.

Our room was fine with comfy mattresses and very clean. There was a cocktail hour each afternoon. The breakfasts were good with several hot selections. There was an indoor pool. There was always lemony ice water available. You could walk down the street to many different restaurants. There was a trolley that ran thru town and buses easily available!

As soon as we walked in the room we were relieved at the sight and smell of cleanliness. The staff was friendly and the hotel offered great amenities. The location was within walking distance of town so that was nice after a long drive. We had a great experience with each staff member we encountered.

We spent two nights in Durango, Co ate the BW. The room was expensive considering how small and dingy it was. We had to take our showers in a tub with a clogged drain. It was not pleasant. The parking was non-existent. We are older and had to drag luggage quite a distance. Seems there were more cars parked than rooms available.

The hotel, staff , amenities and location are excellent. Our stay however was ruined by 3-bus loads of seniors who basically took over the hotel and forced us(group of 8-seniors) out of the hotel. The breakfast itself was outstanding but could not enjoy due to the bus groups.

In a decent location near to the train station and the main drag, I'd recommend this hotel, but be careful in your room choice - the side with the view also gets the noise from the main road, and some rooms, overlooking the inner pool area may be on the dark side. Our room was fine really, the stained toilet, which shouldn't been cleaned though. The big let-down for us was the breakfast, just some standard issue tepid re-constituted scrambled eggs, which tasted of nothing, pappy white bread, a few cereals and drinks - easily beaten by a cut-price 'Super 8' hotel we stayed at near Albuquerque - for a BW 'plus' hotel this is not good enough. Worse, and depressingly, it appears that absolutely everything, the plates, the cups, the cutlery etc. is simply disposed of after use; this is really awful. Hotels make a big deal about 'protecting the environment' by re-using towels etc; the hypocrisy of what is obviously a cost-cutting exercise, when set against the casual disposal of bags full of plastic from the dining room, destined, presumably, for land-fill, is clear for all to see. Best Western bean-counters in head-office should be over-ruled, and proper plates and cutlery used, and washed up afterwards!

The location is the best for taking a short walk to the Durango train station. The rooms are pretty nice, staff does a great job. Nice looking pool and hot tub. Guests can use the laundry for no charge, just purchase soap at the desk in the main lobby. Every night a bar tender makes almost any drink you desire, two hour happy hour, 2 drink a night limit. Breakfast in the morning can be crowded, but be patient it's worth the wait.

This hotel us very convenient to historic downtown. It was mostly clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast attendants. It was very noisy with lots of street noise, other guests and the train. Pool was ice cold, definitely not heated. We ended up going to the rec center to swim. Breakfast was good. It was really expensive for a basic room. It is also supposed to be a smoke free property and we smelled marijuana twice, once was really strong. The phone in our room was broken. Front desk just said okay to everything but I doubt anything was or will be done. I would only consider staying here for a great rate. Otherwise will look for another spot on our next trip.

My wife and chose the Best Western Plus Rio Grande Inn on the basis of (1) The good TripAdvisor reviews and (2) Its central location in Durango. As we needed to catch the Durango-Silverton train to go to Soaring Tree Top Adventures (highly recommended) we needed to be able to walk to the station at 7.30 a.m. The Best Western Plus Rio Grande Inn is only a few minutes' walk from the train station. (It was also only four minute's walk from T's Smokehouse - where we had a pleasant flavoursome meal on our first night in Durango.) After a great drive from Moab (via the spectacular "Million Dollar Highway"), we checked in quickly and went to our room. The room was absolutely fine and we quickly settled in. We were told (by the helpful people at reception) that we each could have a couple of "Happy Hour" drinks in the hotel bar. (This was a nice gesture which we appreciated but, personally, we would have preferred a lower room rate.) The breakfast was pleasant and the hotel's Internet worked well. We did experience some problems when trying to enter our room using our key cards on several occasions - always frustrating and the hotel's elevator (with a glass side which looked over the internal swimming pool) was not the fastest elevator we have ever been on. Our only negative comment is to do with the swimming pool - there were a fair number of children staying in the hotel and at times the noise from the swimming pool area was very loud indeed. We used the hotel's free-to-use washing-machines and driers - these all worked well and we were very pleased indeed that they were there. The hotels "Fitness Room" was good - small but well-eqippped. There was, also, plenty of free parking at the hotel. We would, most certainly, stay at the Best Western Plus Rio Grande Inn again if we returned to Durango.

Me and my girlfriend are travelling Route 66, and we stayed here for 2 nights on our tour of the US. Nice well made out hotel, great pool area where we met some great people. Then I popped in for a drink at the bar, well Kym the bar maid she is red hot. Made us feel welcome and at home and planned out our trip to Vegas for us as she'd lived their pervious. If you're lucky enough maybe she'll pour you a drink !!

we came along way to stay at this hotel in Durango, co. very disappointed with the service we got!Unfortunately, my son didn't see that the hot tube was closed and a front desk staff was very unpolite about asking them to get out! seemed like a bunch of young generation with no respect.Room was dirty, dust on ALL surfaces. just a bad stay overall!

Very plesant,and well located near the train station and within walking distance to the very vital Historic Section of Durango Colorado. Good breakfasts, and 2 free drinks at Happy Hour, every evening.Nearby to Gazpacho's, good Mexican food restaurant.

My wife and I are platinum members of best western and were kind of confused as to why this listing was so pricey! I've stayed at many other best western properties that are just as good or better for much less than what this listing costed us. When we come to Durango again, we will unfortunately be making the decision to stay at a Hilton property so that we get more value for the amount we paid for this stay! The rooms are dated, and we had a few stains on our comforter. The breakfast is a very typical best western breakfast. The pool was nice, but I wouldn't say it was heated like advertised. The nicest part of staying here was that they gave you free drink vouchers every night. Not sure if this was due to us being platinum members or they are just part of the expensive cost to stay here.

Great place. Very clean. Above all the staff was perfect. The front desk went above and beyond from providing an early check in to getting us to the airport. The kitchen staff was so friendly and helpful. They really cared about making dining in the hotel an outstanding experience. Housekeeping kept things immaculate and was super friendly as well. We even interacted with the maintenance staff when they went out of their way to pick us up from the airport. Highly recommend this hotel.

We expected a high quality property as this is a Best Western Plus. While the staff was nice and the location was good the property is way overdue for a remodel. Once we checked in and I saw the hole in the ceiling, the missing wood trim, chipped paint, etc I asked at the front desk if we got a bad room but I was told the whole property was due for a remodel. Very disappointing for the price (for reference I spend 30+ nights a year in hotels in both large and small cities). We recommend you look elsewhere for either a great truly historic (not just old) property in Durango or go for a newer modern property.
