Best Western Plus Plaza Hotel Darmstadt

Very noisy room if you are on the railway side of the building. Couldn't sleep at all during the night. Not a fortuity that you get a couple of earplugs in these rooms. Having already been on the railway side in one of my previous trips I've asked for a “street side” room upgrade at the check/in (I'd have paid the price difference) but my request was rejected by the senior front-desk man. Last, the elevator to the car parking was out of order for the three days of my stay.

I booked from the night before knowing I am arriving early morning.When I arrived they said my room from the night before was not ready. And I should wait if they can send me to another hotel. I am waiting for 2:30 for a room now.

If you're looking for a place to get a restful night's sleep, do not go there. I learned this the hard way after a recent stay at the Best Western Plaza hotel in Darmstadt. In the middle of the night, we were abruptly awoken by a loud electrical bang. It turns out there was an electrical hazard in the hotel. The noise was so loud that it was impossible to sleep through it (80-90db). When I spoke to the night receptionist about the situation, he told me to take some ear plugs. The problem wasn't solved until an hour later. Needless to say, it was a very disruptive and unpleasant experience. When we checked out the next day, the day receptionist was rude when I told him we were unhappy with our stay. He rudely threw us a free parking ticket and acted like that should be thanking him up for the terrible experience we had. As a frequent business I would make sure to avoid any Best Western or Plaza hotel in the future. If you're looking for a place to stay, it would be better to sleep in your car or in a one star hotel than stay at one of these hotels brand.

We staid here for one night with our kids. When we entered the room, it smelled and we had to open the window (noisy street). The room was dirty and my son found two used bath slippers under the bed with much dust on it. There was dust over the whole room. They even stated in a folder that they do not clean the room daily due to COVID… also the Bar, sauna and swimmingpool was closed due to a lack of staff and maintenance. It's in the middle of nowhere… and you have to pay 18€ for parking. The only positive point was the kind lady at the reception

Never again. If you you want to find countless hair in your bed which are obviously not yours because you have just entered that renovated and ‚cleaned' room , then feel free to book yourself into a 4 star rated hotel with a hygiene standard which feels like 0 stars incl potential skin infections.

Look back to the last visit, filled with joy from check in to check out. There were delight fresh welcome fruits and it helped me to overcome some jet lag. After the night with quiet and calm room inside, it might be great experience how already adopt different time zone easily with comfortable night.

I came here several times for business trips. Bedrooms are spacious and well equipped. Breakfast is very good with a lot of choice. Some rooms are a bit noisy due to the proximity with the tram and railways.

The previously named Maritim Hotel and now Best Western Plus under Plaza is a homey, comfort and nice hotel, strategically located to train station, airport bis stop, tram stop. The room is spacious and well maintained. The staff was helpful during my check in and the entire stay. The indoor pool and gym that open from 06.00-21.30 is a big plus for me. Breakfast is sufficient, and I could manage to get out from feeling bored to have the same breakfast menu for my 5 night stays. The only downside is I was spending almost 40 minutes with no luck to connect to the internet in the early evening. Thanks to my jet-lag, I woke up at midnight and try another chance to get connected. Voila!! So, try to connect at midnight and don't lost it once it get coonected. Take all precautions that necessary not to get disconnected :) Another tip: their grilled shrimp and green salad was the best I have ever. I don't know why, it just feels good.

I was overcharged for room service. I was assured the manager would contact me about this. Instead I had to chase them up twice, the staff were generally unhelpful and refused to fix the problem. I wouldn't stay here again.

Nice hotel, easy access from roads network and across the road from train station. Good size rooms with large TV and good WiFi, comfortable bed. Good choice at breakfast. Only issue is in winter mode you can only heat room not cool it and it was too warm for me. You can however, open the windows although this did mean background traffic noise.

I was there this week to attend a three-day congress. The congress hall is very spacious and can accommodate a wide audience. Beautiful location and impeccable service. The food is also excellent and well presented!!!

The staff at this hotel was not very friendly but this hotel is good enough for Darmstadt. Nothing spectacular at all. The hotel room wasn't very clean. They don't seem to change the sheets daily and there were times we had to consistently ask for towels etc. I will say the location of the hotel is prime because it's near the train station which was ideal for us.

Good hotel, close to the railway station and the "AirLiner" (bus to FRA). Helpfull personal and tram to the city center close by. Rooms ok and the pool is very good. Breakfast as expected. Clean room and a very good bathroom.

When I booked this I noticed the option for quiet rooms. I assumed that meant away from the lift or the end of a corridor... I didn't realise that it meant away from the railway line! Many hotels have airports or railways nearby, but this hotel hasn't got the same level of sound or vibration deadening that most do. So the trains may well keep you awake, either the noise or the rumble. I have included a photo taken from my room. Pillows weren't very comfortable but the room was ok. Breakfast was OK, standard German breakfast. Staff were friendly and the bar is nice.

This is a good hotel. When you visit Darmstadt, be sure to visit many of the great brew pubs that surround the town square. One on the south side has outdoor tables with umbrellas and serves a fantastic lunch of a roasted ham shank with choice of several side dishes. Be sure to enjoy ein beer (or two or three) with your meal! If you are interested in tracking down family history go to the hall of records where they have all the records of who begat who and when, with whom. The staff speak very good English and translated a number of the records for my research for my book "Willie" about the life of my grandfather.

Good location, a walking distance away from the centre and excellent for any train traveler as the station is a coin toss away. There's also a Rewe (supermarket) very close that is open late if you find yourself in need of a snack after late arrival. Very spacious hotel with an air of luxury to it, the rooms are comfortable and clean. However wifi is somewhat of an issue if it decides to work or not, and there's nothing to be done if it simply won't work. Kitchen staff seemed disinterested in their jobs, witnessed several different guests noting something missing from the buffet and they were only met with indifference. Those missing items were never filled, leading to the assumption that they were also quite unprepared in how much to have of everything.

Nice room but the cleaning service could be more thorough, especially with vacuuming. There could be also more variety and choice of breakfast. The world does not end at scrabbled eggs and white sausages.

I couldn't get over how beautiful the rooms were here. They were big and comfortable and very impressive. However, the lack of decent WiFi was incredibly annoying. The only place I could actually connect was in the lobby which means I was unable to work in my room or call my family. If they could improve the WiFi I would stay here again. Otherwise there are better hotels in the area.

I stayed here for a work trip because the hotel was close to my work location, to the railway station (drop off and pickup point for the bus to FRA) and also because the hotel has a pool. The hotel itself is large with a rather grand lobby full of glass and brass, it made me think of the 1980s! This is not meant to be a negative comment, it's clean and stylish, unusual almost. The room was very comfortable, quiet, the shower hot and the temperature just right for March. The biggest let down was the quality of the wireless internet connection in the room which, by the work desk, was so poor (my laptop kept losing signal) that I ended up working in the lobby. Some of my (German) work colleagues thought it funny when I said that I expected efficient wifi in Germany! Slow speeds, they said, are the norm. Of course, slow internet is not the end of the world but when one is travelling for work to a business hotel it's to be expected that wifi coverage in the rooms is adequate. Otherwise this is a nice hotel and the small pool was good for a post-dinner "float" before bed.

Well situated, next to train station but in quiet area. Not far from city center. Friendly staff at reception. Spacious room, huge TV screen, good wifi, modern and recent furniture. Did not try the breakfast, but had drinks at the bar: well stocked, good knowledgable and pleasant bartender. But minibar is empty; good for storing your own small "emergency" cans or bottles ;-) All you need in a business oriented hotel, at a reasonable price.

I stayed here only for 2 nights. I find its style kind of vintage but stylish at the same time. The breakfast food is actually really good and you have some various options. The one thing i did not like was the fact that the key card was working really though and you had to swipe it a lot of times in order to get into the room. The rest was perfectly fine!

Very nice hotel, comfortable and big. Personnel very gentle. very big breakfast. Close to the train station and main international institutions. Walking distance to public transports. The only constrain is the vicinity with the railways, so remember to ask a room on the street side rather than the railway side. I will recommend.

We appreciated the wooden floor - hotel carpets usually quickly end up looking dirty (even if they may be clean(ed). Also there was a bar of soap. Tiny, but better than the horrible squidgy bottles of sticky gungy liquid stuff. Very nice bed. The hotel faces the railway line, but the insulation seem pretty good so you can barely here the trains - earplugs are provided Everything is new and sparkling clean. There is an underground garage. Good Thai restaurant nearby.

Stayed here for two nights. Had a very early check in which was just €15 we were upgrade to a bigger room. The room was beautiful and loved the breakfast/lunch. Staffs are wonderful and friendly. Very welcoming and patient. The sauna is beautiful and plays relaxing music as you relax in the lounge chairs. Loved staying here and will definitely return.

I've stayed here several nights over the past 5 years and once the management changed to the Best Western Plus Company it was terrible from then. The earlier management Martitim was fantastic. The last experience was that I had to have a cold water shower for 3 days in the middle of the cold German winter.

Superb experience! Hospitality at its best. Handling was crisp and excellent from check-in through to check-out. Facilities were excellent and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. The meals were great with a wide spread of breakfast. Hotel is conveniently located next to main road and near train station. I had a great time hanging out in the bar.

The hotel is quite nice, altough it is not near the center of Darmstadt. anyway, it is quite convenient if you plan to use the railway station (5 minutes walk), or if you are in a business trip. Nevertheless, if possible, ask for a room that is not facing the railways, because the noise is a bit anoying. I stayed last time in sixth stage, and I could hear the trains all night. There is a lot of railway traffic overnight. For rooms facing the railway, there are ear plugs as amenity in the bathroom. The staff is really nice, they always try to help you. For me, the breakfast is not worth at all. It costs 18 euro, but it is overpriced. It has plenty of sausages, boiled eggs, scrumbled eggs, jogurth, sweets, etc, but the variety is not that much, and specially, it is impossible to make the 18 euro valuable. In the room you have coffee and tea and a boiler. I have not visited the restaurant The hotel has a swimmingpool, but it is yet not finished (as per october 2018)

Rooms are updated & spacious. Staff is friendly & helpful. Price is more than reasonable. Location cannot be beat. Close to Hauptbahnhof & bus stop. Easy walking to many locations. But who on earth thought it was a good idea to build a hotel next to a train station?? Bring your headphones for a more pleasant stay.

Broken A/C, no upgrades offered for elite members, flies all over the breakfast items, no eggs at breakfast, internet barely worked. Disappointing experience, even though the bed and room itself were good.

The rooms are fine, but as they had just gone under Best Western name from Maritim hotel they didn´t yet have everything under control. Stayed there for a week and on many occasions the rooms for our group were not cleaned and the service in the restaurant took ages although we were the only ones there. Some were hot in their rooms, others were cold, some were noisy from the traintracks on one side of the hotel, others were noisy from the street and people chatting/smoking in the front of the hotel. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful though so all-in-all it was a OK stay and probably will go check them out again - they have some room to improve, that´s for sure!

The rooms in this hotel had a great make over are pleasant to stay in. The breakfast is also good with plenty of choices. Only thing I am missing is a fitness area and swimming pool although this is presented on their website. Apparently they first focused to redecorate the rooms and then will finish the fitness and swimming pool. As a next step they could upgrade the surroundings like terrace, not bad but a bit dated.

I spent two nights at BW Plus Plaza in Darmstadt in June 2018. The hotel was cheap compared to many other hotels in the city and it had plenty of free rooms, even though the city had a large music festival the same weekend. The hotel is within 5 minutes walking distance from the main railway station and it (station) can be seen from the rooms facing the track. Some previous reviews mentioned the noise from the tracks, but I had no complaints or issues with it on 7th floor, facing the tracks (room 745). If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room facing the street side. Otherwise, getting into the city will take about 15 minutes walk down the street or you can jump into a tram or a bus that all go from the intersection next to the hotel. The cost was 2,15 € one way. The hotel itself if old (maybe form the early 80´s?), but the room had gone through a major facelift and everything was brand new and clean. All worked well, Wifi was easy to log onto, it was fast, water pressure was good and my bed was very comfortable. The only minor issue was the fact that the hotel does mention a 24/7 exercise facility, but this is not true. I mainly book the hotels that have a fitness room, so I was rather disappointed to discover this. The hotel has a deal with the nearby gym that guests can use the gym for free. It is about 10 minutes walk and the gym is big and modern with plenty of options for even a picky traveler. Yet still...its not in the hotel and it is definitely not 24/7 facility. Otherwise a very good price-quality ratio.

...this used to be the Maritim hotel. Now renamed to Best Western Plus. I don't know if the rooms have been renovated or not, but neither the exterior, nor the reception, nor the bar have been. It is incredible! The same 80es decor and furniture - the seats in the bar being so very used...whoa. Take the disco ball and the TV with videos and you get the picture. Drinks were "kind of ok", but nothing really fancy. And they seem to only serve Pfungstädter beer...really - no need to come back. I am so happy I was not the one choosing the location...

Has been renovated and it is well cared for. Internet is fairly fast, good lighting, super clean, good location (though some folks have commented on the train noise on the east side of the hotel). Desk staff very friendly and helpful. Website says they have a fitness center but that is not true; they have coupons for a club you can walk 10+ minutes away. Breakfast is pricey if your room rate does not include and the process for determining if you are on the list and checked in needs improvement. If one goes early no one checks you in but if the enforcer is there when you leave she challenges you.

The hotel is clean and the service is good. However, the backside of the hotel is right at the railway track with very loud cargo trains every 20min throughout the whole night. This is absolutely unacceptable. I guess the other side of the building should be better.

Very noisy because of the train tracks, expensive breakfast, expensive dinner, at the reception took guarantee for my stay although everything was paid in advance, and then forgot to give my money back. Terrible stay really!

Hotel was close to the train station so it was hard to sleep. Room was hot but could not open the window due to the trains running from 1200 to 0600. No wonder it had openings. Breakfast is 18 Euros...nice but pricey. Had to ask for soaps since they give you a tiny bar. Found a roach in the bath and later is mineral. Asked for regular water but never got it. Look for something that includes breakfast and the front desk does not give you 20 min to move rooms when you ask to move. Desk manager give me a non verbal attitude.

First time in the hotel. Nice clean big rooms, well equipped. Very comfortable and clean bathroom as well. Super large and nice TV set; however, many channels unavailable (no signal). At least from my room (on the side of the railways) the noise from the trains was a bit annoying (and I was in the 6th floor! - it must be even worse in lower levels. apart from that, recommended for a short business trip to Darmstadt. Excellent free wi-fi connection.
