"5 star and more :)"
louisef390, 14 Mars 2024

Food is 5 star service is 5 star! Couldn't fault it. Definitely would recommend this hotel. The food was so good all fresh ingredients and made on site (you could tell it's made to order not re heated in microwave) steak cooked to perfection! Starters and puddings amazing and presentation 5 star! Will definitely be back. Took friends and family they all felt the same. Thanks

"The BEST HOTEL in the Isle of WIght"

"would definitely recommend"
canarybird2024, 29 Février 2024

Very welcoming, excellent facilities for disabled guests in the room we had. lovely staff, lovely food. Had the weather been better, there is a lovely outside terrace to sit on which, along with the restaurant is open to Non residents. Looking forward to returning, later on this year if possible.

"Clean, friendly and great food."
TJM2412, 18 Février 2024

Stayed overnight at an on-site family wedding, on a special rate. Pleasantly surprised. The building is in good order, clean and well-decorated. Check in staff friendly and courteous. The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed, and a good range of complimentary drinks. The bathroom (often a let-down in hotels) was pristine with the bath, shower and toilet all working perfectly, plenty of towels and a range of toiletries. The food was, I think, the best food I have eaten in a hotel anywhere in the world. Perfectly cooked, fresh, and served piping hot. No hint of anything 'kept warm', which usually happens at a large party. Service was excellent, polite, correct, and unpretentious. Breakfast was equally impressive, served to order and tasted freshly cooked. Highly recommended for a luxury break at a reasonable price. I guess prices would be considerably higher in the summer, due to the hotel's location on Cowes sea front.

"Great place to eat "
Nick T, 01 Janvier 2024

Stopped of for lunch which was not planned but they managed to fit us in. It is in a great location with sea views. Three course lunch at the carvery was so tasty. Also the service was fantastic thank you

"Lovely homely hotel in cowes"
chylowena, 14 Décembre 2023

What a lovely hotel - overlooking the sea. Freshly cooked breakfast - no food in warmers and machines for drinks. Good warm comfortable bedrooms. Dinner super. Everything was perfect and would definitely consider staying again next time we visit cowes.

"A relaxing weekend break."
Z685LHannt, 02 Octobre 2023

A wonderful stay at this hotel last weekend. The rooms are very clean and spacious and the beds are really comfortable. Room 10 has a superb view over the Solent and you can sit and watch the various sized ships entering or leaving Southampton. The onsite restaurant offers a wide choice on its menu and the food is outstanding. I also have to mention all of the staff who are polite, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I highly recommend the New Holmwood Hotel.

"Very Good. Would recommend "
Rydeb0y, 29 Septembre 2023

Stayed here for several days at the end of September. The hotel is very well situated with lovely views over the Solent. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Well stocked with toiletries and complimentary water and chocolates daily. Breakfast was good and two evening meals were excellent. Cleanliness throughout the hotel was top notch. Staff were universally friendly and helpful. Car parking on site is limited but manageable. Overnight on street parking nearby. Will stay here again.

"A bitter disappointment after many years of stays we looked forward to"
timfrommersea, 26 Septembre 2023

Been staying at this hotel for many years in conjunction with a visit to Southampton Boat Show. The dining room has a wonderful view of the Solent and the ships, and the food is very good, which used to bring us back year after year. However this year we had an EXTREMELY disappointing room - room 8, which was VERY small, VERY dark and VERY gloomy. Even on a sunny day we needed the light on as soon as we walked in to the room. The ‘view' was of the property behind and you had to open the door and crane your neck to get a glimpse of the sky. There was a very bright ‘emergency exit' light, which stayed on all night, immediately over the door and because the curtain was so thin it didn't block out the bright light at all. I finally cracked and bought a roll of ‘duck tape' at the shop in Cowes and taped it over the light! which at least blocked out the light and let me sleep…… I complained at reception and said that I was very disappointed and I would not stay in that room again, and would certainly think twice before coming back to the New Holmwood. The lady said that she would pass my feedback on but I suspect she did not. In summary, the food, service and views are good, but it might be an idea to actually stay somewhere else, and merely come to the New Holmwood for the restaurant……

"A great stay"
brush432, 25 Septembre 2023

Very good location right on the sea front with excellent facilities. Room very nice and clean. We were at a function and the food was excellent. The breakfast in the morning was wave Ry good and plentiful.

"Daylight Robbery"
bazdar351, 12 Septembre 2023

Room allocated (No 27) was very small dark room on the first floor at the rear overlooked by building behind. Small window which only opened about 4 inches. Inappropriate queen size bed in room which meant that there was only 18 inches between bed and wardrobe. Very small desk crammed with tea making facilities and other stuff meant that there was no room for laptop. Minuscule "bathroom" for two adults with small bath, small basin and stained shower curtain. General cleanliness of room totally unacceptable. Lack of room for cases.

"Great location, good value hotel, but be aware..."
Steve S, 09 Septembre 2023

We've just completed a 4 night stay at The Best Western, New Holmwood Hotel. The sea front location was fantastic, with only a 15 min walk into Cowes. Nice terraces for lunchtime meals, drinks or just reading, to enjoy the stunning view. The Staff are very polite, efficient and friendly. The breakfast menu had good choices and served promptly in a lovely room over looking the seafront. The only disappointment for us, was our room the Uffa Fox Suite, which had the space we were expecting, lovely bed, etc. but the view was disappointing. This was through a smallish window over looking a roof which was also the rear access to a neighbouring bedroom. The roof was also surrounded by safety rails, which once again spoilt the view we had been expecting. The worse issue unfortunately was the noise of two extractor fans which came on at approx 6.30 am waking me up and then not going off until after 10pm. The continuous drone was quite draining. Interrupting sleep, reading and just generally relaxing time. The duty manager did eventually come to our room the following day, but somehow the extractor remarkably was switched off during his visit. He did give us an explanation to what was happening however I pointed out we should have been notified of the issue before hand. He told us that it had never been reported and he wasn't aware of the issue. The hotel was full so we were told that we couldn't move room. I never asked for compensation but he did clear a small lunch time tab that we had earlier and he offered to again buy us a drink, which was appreciated at the time. He was very polite however the cost of the suite was not cheap and I would have thought a monetary refund offer could have been made especially as we could have changed rooms if there had been any availability. He did indicate this was not possible as we had pre-paid. So we are again penalised for paying for our holiday in advance, which I thought is more the norm now days... I trust the issue is reported and a solution found. By writing this report hopefully it will give people the heads up regarding the issue when booking this suite. However I would certainly recommend the hotel otherwise.

"Dog friendly great location."
collette g, 30 Août 2023

Lovely dog friendly hotel with fantastic views of the sea and an esplanade that's great for walking along that will take you into cowes shopping high street with plenty of bars and eateries. Great staff, clean rooms, excellent location.

"Best Western Holmwood"
herringwych, 25 Août 2023

Really nice hotel, right by the sea. Staff were friendly and helpful - our room wasn't ready when we arrived so we went into Cowes and the staff took our bags to the rooms when ready although we didn't return to much later

"Sunday Carvery. Superb value. Fantastic service. Very delicious. "
Fiona F, 13 Août 2023

Sunday Carvery is amazing. 4 courses of deliciousness followed by tea and coffee and a chocolate. Superb value for money. Fantastic service and helpful staff. Highly recommended. Nice choice of wines too. The views over the Solent are breath taking.

"Super friendly hotel"
Malcybabe, 12 Août 2023

From the original booking to the welcome on reception and the service from all the staff, what a gem. If we ever venture back to the island this hotel would be our first and only choice. Excellent breakfast service and superb dining.

"BW New Holmwood West Cowes Isle of Wight"
g3zgc, 01 Août 2023

A superb hotel. If you have been before they always make you most welcome on your return. A very friendly familt atmostphere. I have been there many times in the last decade always in July. Some staff even remember what drink I have from the year before!

"Great location great staff Hotel just getting a bit tired"
brianronaldh, 29 Juillet 2023

It was a last-minute thing to stay at hotel for 2 nights. The breakfast was good. The staff were lovely, very helpful and friendly. The room was lovely and clean but the hotel overall is getting tired.

"Another wonderful stay "
N7674KOphilipw, 16 Juillet 2023

Another wonderful stay at the New Holmwood, our 2nd visit this time with our dog Ronnie. This stay we had a seaview room and definitely worth paying extra. The food is excellent but what makes it so special is the staff...they are brilliant. Can't wait for our next visit, just wish the car ferry wasn't so expensive !!

"Too many cleaning products"
Trail412437, 08 Juillet 2023

Although the basic structure of the hotel was ok, the windows only opened a crack and on an oppressively hot day we needed a breeze. This was not possible. We also needed airflow because the room smelled very strongly of cleaning products and laundry products. The smell was so bad we could not sleep and had allergic symptoms.

"Can't wait to go back!"
Kerry H, 02 Juillet 2023

We went for the 3 course Sunday lunch today and WOW it was delicious! The setting is very nice with views across the Solent and the service was excellent, all staff helpful and friendly….thank you to them all! We had crispy calamari for starter and then the carvery, which had beef, chicken and pork and a very nice selection of vegetables. We didn't have room for pudding but there was a good selection on offer. Coffee and mints also included in the very good price of £21.75 each. Will be getting that ferry back over asap for another visit to the brilliant place…we loved it! Simon & Kerry, Totton, Southampton.

"A very relaxing stay, excellent lunch and evening meal, wonderful staff!"
Linds-explorer, 02 Juillet 2023

Thank you so much for welcoming us to your hotel, it felt like a home from home, everyone was so friendly and accommodating. Lunch and evening meal delicious and of high quality, we really enjoyed it! Thank you!

"Helped make our friend's wedding Perfect!"
jacquiet12023, 27 Juin 2023

We stayed for our friend's fantastic wedding, Such a wonderful setting overlooking the sea. Nothing was too much trouble for the very helpful and friendly staff. The wedding meal was truly excellen. The hotel is close enough to walk to Cowes shops and restaurants. Looking forward to returning to this lovely hotel.

"Lovely short break!"
suemA2225HQ, 02 Février 2023

First visit to Isle of Wight and we stayed at New Holmwood Hotel. The hotel is in a great seafront location. January is probably not the best time but it was nice and sunny and imagine really quite lovely in the summer. We requested a change in room and staff were very amenable and did this with no problem. The hotel wasn't extremely busy which was nice so felt like we had it to ourselves! Restaurant had a good menu and food served promptly and was very declivous! One of our rooms was a little too hot but we had a really good nights sleep. Breakfast was superb - highly recommend!. Would definitely stay here again!

"Brilliant "
JoJonty, 08 Janvier 2023

We spent Christmas at the hotel and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left we had a really good time. The welcome from the whole team was lovely and our four legged companion Ozzy was given such a welcome - and his own treats! The rooms are very comfortable and clean, with a huge bed! We have been visiting here for almost 30 years and the restaurant remains one of our favourites. The choice and quality of the food is superb and we've never had anything other than amazing meals. We love visiting when we can - usually at Christmas. The hotel's position is beautiful, being able to look out over the Solent whilst eating in the restaurant and it's well placed to just pop out the door for a walk along the beach or esplanade into Cowes. The bar and lounges in the hotel are comfortable to just sit and chat with friends, and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you to (latterly) David & Kathy and to Julian, Rose and the whole team for making us feel so welcome.

"Cowes / Gurnard at it's est!"
HighExpectationsGuy, 20 Décembre 2022

Simon, and his charming team, do a great job in making you feel very welcome to this classy establishment. The rooms are really clean and spacious. The hotel is right on the waterfront, and close to Cowes , with all its attractions. Breakfast and other meals were delicious. I enjoy 300+ nights / annum in hotels, and I recommend this hotel!

"Fantastic hotel and restaurant"
Teff4, 15 Décembre 2022

We had a Christmas event planned, with an excellent meal, which came with outstanding service. We were offered a very reasonable overnight stay, with breakfast. The room was lovely, very clean and comfortable bed and facilities, and lovely to wake up to views of the sea, even on a very cold day. Breakfast was fantastic too. An extremely enjoyable time spent there, might even do it again!

"Absolutely brilliant. Would recommend this establishment to all my family and friends. "
Rod G, 13 Décembre 2022

Celebrating my wife and myself 's 30th wedding anniversary, l booked a dinner and bed and breakfast stay. We were greeted at reception by Ella. Everything was explained to us about our stay. Our room was exceptional. ( we had an upgrade). The dinner we had was brilliant, very tasty. The waiter (Zack) was very friendly and very professional in every thing that he did. We could have not asked for any thing more. After a very comfortable night's sleep, we went down for breakfast. Again Everything was 1st class. I would throughly recommend this establishment to all my family and friends. I could not find fault with anything.

"Great stay."
jonvee52, 11 Décembre 2022

Visited The Holmwood Hotel this weekend for a Christmas get together for our singing groups. A brilliant evening, the food was very good, the staff were excellent, and nothing too much trouble. Catering for allergies was no problem either. All the staff, from check in, to waiting staff, were all very friendly and welcoming. My partner and I decided to stay for the night, so not needing to drive home, as we live on the island. A very nice way to finish the evening. The rooms were very comfortable, warm in this cold weather, good hot water and tea making facilities. We had a great time, breakfast was very good too. Our group were very happy with the whole experience, so have booked again for next year. Thank you to all the staff and the newly appointed manager. Keep up the great work.

"Fab hotel, great location, wonderful staff."
Superyachtchef, 11 Décembre 2022

Wonderful stay on a freezing December night. Lovely room with very comfortable bed. Super newly refurbed bath room with fabulous shower. Very enjoyable dinner and breakfast. Outstanding and accommodating staff. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

"Such a shame"
Stuart H, 16 Novembre 2022

The hotel is in serious need of an update and modernisation. It reminds me of an old people's home from the 80's. From the carpets, the wallpaper, the textured ceilings through to the furniture and leaking gutters. It just screams tired! I was pleased it had wifi but that was the only convenience. Being that the hotel is in a quiet area with no shops you would think they would have options to buy at least a small selection of snack food and drink but no, not even a vending machine tucked away anywhere. The food was ok, by ok I mean the vegetarian sausages where thankful they had never been alive only to be cremated like that! And the toast was obviously made with cheap thin bread which managed to taste both stale and cold. It's a shame that it wasn't a nicer 2 night stay as the location was very pretty, they just need to breathe some life back into the place. Oh and if you're lucky you might get a random knock on your door wake you up at 11:30pm (no I didn't answer it!)

"Lovely Hotel and people "
kevinbF7602LB, 09 Novembre 2022

Recent stay was excellent. Nice hotel, great views, exceptionally friendly welcome and attitude from all the staff during our whole visit. People who really seemed to care. Food was first-class fresh and superbly cooked. Would recommend this hotel anytime.

"Perfect Hotel"
mjdudley6, 07 Novembre 2022

This was the second time we stayed at this hotel. It had been recommended to us by some friends of ours who had stayed here. The staff are very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The position on the sea front affords a unique outlook which all adds to the enjoyment.

"Great location, friendly staff and fantastic food"
helenaA4301AN, 07 Novembre 2022

This is a well run hotel with good facilities. The bedrooms are a bit dark as the building is quite enclosed (apart from the sea view rooms) but they're spacious and comfortable. The public rooms are bright and there's an outdoor terrace with sea view. The Manager and his staff were extremely welcoming and responded positively and swiftly to any issues or comments. I stayed here for 5 nights, with dinner and would definitely go back. You can do good walks from the hotel and walk to the shops in Cowes along the sea front in 15-20 minutes.

"Stay at the New Holmwood"
pjhporsche, 28 Octobre 2022

Yet another enjoyable stay at the hotel. As usual the staff were friendly and always helpful at all times and nothing was any trouble. Would recommend to anyone to stay here, and will book again soon for another stay.

"Suva's holiday"
23carolynn, 22 Octobre 2022

This is a lovely hotel on the seafront at Cowes, with amazing views of the Solent. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent, it is warm and clean. Suva (my dog) and I were made very welcome, our third time of staying.

"A home from home"
Les L, 16 Octobre 2022

Have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel. Good location close to Cowes which is a short walk along the esplanade which is also very flat. The hotel prides itself on its welcome and the excellent food which is what tempted us to try this place. Overall a very god stay and the staff in the bar and restaurant were very friendly and you felt you were not just a room number but a real person. In particular Matt, Zack and Mitchell were outstanding in their approach to all the customers whether guests or casual diners. I would however say that the staff who were on duty on Friday night and Saturday morning whilst polite did not show the same enthusiasm. We were in room 9 which was at the end of the ground floor and did allow a sea glimpse down the side alley which was occupied by workmen during the day on the neighbouring property. The room was a good size clean and comfortable. One observation would be to replace the single glazed wooden patio doors with double glazes ones to improve the insulation as each morning the windows were running with water due to the condensation. Also if a regular check is made on the rooms it should be noticed that the tap on the shower is a little loose. All of the meals we had on the DBB basis were exceptional and the chef delivered inviting looking food that tasted every bit a good as it looked. It was also nice that after dinner the tea and coffee were served in pots and not just a cup. One other small observation was around the reception. We arrived ahead of check in time and although we were told we could leave our bags and go off I feel opportunity was missed to offer us to go to the bar for a drink. When we checked out there was an issue with the bill where we had been charged for a tea and coffee we had not had but this was quickly corrected by the receptionist. This is an error that could have been avoided if guests had to sign for things being charged to their rooms. A really good stay and definitely one we would return to if going to the IOW agsain and it really is a home from home.

"Wonderful Hotel"
kiffers, 13 Octobre 2022

What a lovely place. Staff are friendly helpful and very professional. Nice room. Food was fantastic. Amazing view. We travel a lot on buisness and stay in many hotels around the UK and this hotel will definitely be on our list to visit again.

"Lovely stay"
Emma R, 06 Octobre 2022

5* but almost lost a star on the rudeness of one member of staff at breakfast. Lovely warm room, super comfy bed and I couldn't hear any of other guests. Reception, bar and restaurant staff great apart from one at breakfast.

"Excellent Service"
michaeltG6870LT, 03 Octobre 2022

We arrived in pouring rain and the staff happily assisted us in taking our luggage to our room. The evening dinners were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were also very caring, asking after our health following bad reactions to the latest Covid injections.

"Amazing weekend - thank you"
goodger53, 03 Octobre 2022

This was our 3rd visit, and it never failed to impress. They are indeed very doggie friendly which is always a pleasure (as some places say they are but you can tell you have a dog is quite annoying!!) anyway never here. Clean inviting accommodation each time. The location is perfect. The staff are exceptional and always always smile and take the time to go out of their way to help/speak with you. Manager again so friendly. Breakfast was yummy and again served with a smile! We will most certainly be back for our 4th visit again! We have nothing but high high praise for the New Holmwood Hotel. Until the next visit..........

"Mr Stephen Copeman"

Brilliant stay at a first class hotel. All staff were excellent & nothing was too much trouble. The food was second to none with great choices at every meal. I would recommend this hotel to anyone & everyone.

"A very nice experience."
bryonp420, 01 Octobre 2022

We recently stayed there for a coach trip holiday. We were warmly greeted by the General manager and his staff. The entire staff are fantastic. The room we stayed in was modern and spotless. The food is on a high quality restaurant level. It was very quiet in the rooms allowing for a peaceful nights sleep. I have to to once again mention how wonderful the staff are and that made our stay there very very good. You guys are a credit.

"Very Happy"

Excellent service, everywhere lovely and clean. Staff always willing to help. Beautiful sea views, from some of the rooms. Food amazing, and happy to go the extra mile. We will definitely be back again year.

"Excellent stay"
Companion591075, 26 Septembre 2022

We recently stayed here for a family wedding. It is a stunning location with fantastic views. The staff were friendly and service was excellent. Great value and rooms comfortable. The breakfast was 5 star. Would highly recommend for a short stay.

"Comfort and excellence"
nessmilo, 12 Septembre 2022

I stayed in a standard room with sea view. The room was large, clean and comfortable. There were two chairs, one upright to sit at the desk and one tub chair. So we could enjoy the view whilst we had a cup of tea. The bathroom was large with a really good shower over the bath. The staff are so friendly and helpful, it was a delight. Breakfast selection was amazing and the dinner excellent. The bed was so comfortable I had the best nights sleep I've ever had in a hotel. And you didn't hear other customers either.

"Needs to be better"
3elliotw, 12 Septembre 2022

We go to a lot of hotels for work purposes and this is one we won't be rushing back to Good points are that the staff are lovely, it's clean, the bed was comfy and the chips were good. I want more from my hotel. The decor is very tired and old fashioned. We had a suite room and the shower was so scaled that there was not much water pressure. The restaurant wasn't good. We both had rare sirloin steaks that were very tough. This couldn't have been a good quality piece of beef. The breakfast really sealed it for us. There was a long wait for the cooked food. No explanation, and when it came I couldn't eat the black pudding or fried bread as they were solid and the beans congealed. Come on Best Western. You can do better.

"Excellent pet friendly hotel with superb view"
car0lineh0, 11 Septembre 2022

Wonderful hotel right on seafront that is pet friendly not only in the hotel but in the lounge of the hotel, which means you can take your dog with you, when you have your meals. Wonderful room with fabulous sea views. Loved.our stay and will definitely book again.

"Wonderful experience"

"Great little hotel"
PMHiggins, 02 Septembre 2022

The location of the hotel is excellent. A great view from the terrace too. Just a few minutes walk from the centre of Cowes. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Breakfast and dinner were very good with a very good range for breakfast. I'd certainly recommend this place and would come here again.

"Best wedding ever at the Best Western"
robsplay71, 23 Août 2022

I have just returned from the Holmwood still buzzing from such a beautiful and very well managed wedding. The attention, management and efficient performance of all the staff together with the welcoming and comfortable surroundings made the whole day run smoothly and without fuss. Certainly the best wedding i have ever attended!!

"Never disappointed"
reetessex, 21 Août 2022

We take my 97 year old Aunt here as often as we can as they are so kind to her. The food is delicious and the staff so friendly. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the view from the restaurant is stunning.

"Excellent hotel in a good setting."
richard272727, 21 Août 2022

Excellent clean comfortable hotel with pleasant friendly helpful staff. The hotel has a pleasant outlook over the Solent. The cooked to order breakfast is absolutely delicious with self service continental selection. Dinners were equally delicious with excellent service from friendly staff. Would definitely recommend and return to this hotel.

"Excellent Owner run Hotel"
Jim S, 02 Août 2022

A very comfortable and friendly with the proud and caring owners very much front and centre with all the staff. Beautufully fresh food with a lovely menu for all meals and the smoked haddock for breakfast was the best I have had for years. Very good value and nice wine list. All the Staff were fantasic and and the chatty and happy cleaners were a great asset for the hotel. Noithing was too much trouble for this happy and caringly run business.;

"Great hotel…"

We have just returned from a two night stay at the New Holmwood Hotel. All staff that we came into contact with were so helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble! The restaurant menu was varied and the food excellent. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Cowes but only about a 15-20 walk along the coastal path. We will definitely be returning!

Loved this hotel. Great staff. Friendly & helpful. Good team work. Room was clean and we were provided with everything we needed. Meals are superb. This chef knows what he's doing. Dinner & breakfast both excellent. Fabulous views as right on the waterfront. We couldn't have asked for more. We will definitely be returning. Thanks everyone especially Kathy, Matt, Zack & Rose. Sorry that I don't know all of the names but you're all brilliant at what you do.

"Great place to host a function"

"Awful service. Rude staff. Dusty smelly hotel."
clairelS5169DN, 24 Juin 2022

I arrived late at 6:30pm but not dinner was available until 8:30pm despite the place looking empty. The room was dusty and dated and the sea view over a leaky broken side roof. I booked brekki for myself, partner and our two guests my brother and his partner. When they arrived they were called liars by members of staff not present at booking. We were sent away saying the booking never happened and no food offered again. The staff were unhelpful and cold. The manager was “not available” and the cctv “not working” I'd never go back. Waste of £120!

"Better than last time"
Jen P, 12 Juin 2022

Stayed here four years ago with my friend. This time I came back with my son, dog and parents. The welcome couldn't be more warmer and the rooms have had a refresh with lovely fluffy towels. Even though dogs are allowed in the rooms they were spotless. With dogs we weren't allowed in the main dining area for breakfast but they set a table up for us in the lounge part complete with doggy bowl. Well done to staff for making us feel welcome

"Lovely location"

"Holidaying on the Isle of Wight"
robertwI8829DC, 07 Mai 2022

The Best Western New Holmwood Hotel is an excellent hotel overlooking the Solent. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was delicious and plentiful served by delightful staff. The hotel is well situated to visit the Island. Whilst this did not cause us any trouble, there is not a lift for the upstairs. We have stayed at this hotel three times and will do so in the future. Robert & Dorothea West

"Wonderful views for a wedding"
FIL M, 05 Mai 2022

I attended a wedding ceremony and reception at this lovely hotel. The staff were very kind, hard working and nothing was too much bother. Food was very tasty and well presented. I would strongly recommend for a special occasion

"Love This Hotel"
patrickgQ9229MJ, 03 Mai 2022

Spent 4 nights B&B with my wife, during a stay to visit historical attractions on IoW. Received a warm welcome from Reception, and great service from David, Kathy and their team throughout our stay. The hotel has a great location overlooking the sea, and easy access to the main roads that link up to the rest of the IoW. Cowes town centre is about 10-15 comfortable walk, however, we tended to eat in the hotel's restaurant most days. Breakfast was cook to order and/or buffet, and certainly enough to keep us going through the day. Dinner was well cooked, very tasty, and well portioned - with hindsight, we should have gone DB&B. Will definitely return.

"Very friendly and comfortable hotel with great food and location"
Paul C, 24 Avril 2022

Very comfortable hotel with very friendly and helpful staff with great food and immaculately clean rooms. Location is perfect overlooking the Solent and a short 10 minute walk in to Cowes. Could not find anything wrong with the hotel and we will be back.

"Calming"
abigailacourt, 19 Avril 2022

All staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Everything was easy and faultless. We even got an Easter egg each ! The situation of the hotel was spot on .Near enough to the town, the seafront and the ferries ⛴

"My sisters wedding"

"wedding reception & stay"
brush432, 11 Avril 2022

Lovely venue and wonderful staff. They made the wedding reception I attended run flawlessly. The food and hospitality were amazing. We stayed the night which was brilliant. the beds and room was spot on and the breakfast was nice. I left something in the room and they contacted me straight away which was really nice. Recommend.

"Lovely hotel in a beautiful location"
JaneAway1, 10 Avril 2022

Friendly welcome in an outstanding location. The rooms are a little in need of an update but they are comfortable and clean. The views across the Solent are spectacular. An easy walk into the town centre make this an ideal place to stay in Cowes.

"Friendly and very dog friendly"
gnu, 09 Avril 2022

This is a small hotel but nothing is too much trouble. The room was spotless, well furnished and reception happy to provide extra toiletries etc on request which cuts down on waste so a good idea. We stayed in a small suite and enjoyed having a separate seating area. Our dog was spoilt with treats and water bowls and loved the fuss made of him. We ate in the lounge because dogs are not allowed in the restaurant but frankly we had a brilliant view and were right next door and looked after as if in the main dining area. It was good to have the dog with us and accommodated so well at all meals. He became quite at home. The food is well cooked and served and specials usually available. There is a good choice for a small hotel and the breakfast buffet was attractive. There is a small bar and lounge area with comfortable seats and we found other guests friendly. Like all hotels, they could do with a few more staff but their staff were incredibly kind, very hard working and they must have been exhausted but never let on. This is a traditional hotel and I would happily stay there again.

"great people great food and service"
kevingreen2022, 04 Avril 2022

A great weekend break made better by the warm friendly staff working in all depts of the hotel. Food and service was amazing. Thank you to all of the team, we will be back nothing was to much trouble from the moment we walked into the hotel and when we left.

"wonderful break"

Excellent position to watch the boats go by. Very good friendly service. we enjoyed an excellent weekend break. breakfast and evening meals were excellent too. the barman remembered the drinks we liked!

"New Holmwood"
Companion26567, 01 Avril 2022

A great hotel overlooking the sea. All the staff were really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The room was very comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast was really good value for money. The only issue we had was the car park which is small, crowded and tight. The hotel is very popular and dog friendly so was used by many non residents for meals, coffee and events. As you can see the shipping between Cowes and Southampton everyone showed an interest in the ships going back and forth

"Great Location"
Sue A, 27 Mars 2022

Lovely setting on the Esplanade at Cowes. Plenty of action out on the water! Very friendly staff. Nice comfortable rooms. Perfect for our family party. I would be happy to recommend this hotel to other travellers.

The hotel, staff and food were all superb and I would recommend the use of this hotel for business trips or any other stay on the Island. I am returning to the island in Nay and was lucky enough to be able to book this hotel for my stay.

"Excellent hotel in great location"
langton1484, 13 Mars 2022

Excellent hotel with extremely good restaurant and bar. The service provided by all staff was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. The location of the hotel facing the sea provided a brilliant outlook within a convenient distance of Cowes.

"Fantastic stay."

Great staff, all were friendly, professional and attentive. Hotel room was very clean and had everything you needed. Took my dog and he had a doggy treat bag and was made welcome. Would definitely stay again.

"Old Fashioned - In a Very Good Way!"
John C, 10 Mars 2022

Booked through BW 3 for 2 offer. We had visited IoW before and liked the slower pace of life.this splendid hotel is very much in line with this. Treated ourselves to a Sea View Suite, excellent choice, spacious comfortable bed, very clean and tidy. Separate lounge, both bedroom and lounge had good TVs with Sky Sports. Food excellent as was the service, extremely friendly, helpful staff. All in all excellent, highly recomended.

"Simply the best"
SomersetJules, 05 Mars 2022

After a bad experience with where we should of been staying we had to find somewhere else to stay.Called this beautiful hotel and straight away our day just got better.Very efficient and helpful young lady on the phone. On arrival made to feel very welcome. All staff at this hotel are kind helpful and welcoming and go out of there way to make you feel comfortable. Beautiful clean room, in fact the whole place is spotlessly clean.Superb food. Wonderful friendly atmosphere. Would highly recommend this extremely efficiently run hotel. Some of the nicest people we have ever met , well done guys you make this place and can't thank them enough.

"Lovely clean, welcoming hotel"
edsell230, 02 Mars 2022

Very clean, welcoming and comfortable hotel. Staff were friendly, accommodating and very helpful and efficient. The hotel and staff were dog friendly and our dog had an amazing time. I should say this is done in a way that non-dog people are not bothered by the dogs at all as I do realise that not everyone is as dog mad as us!

"Good room, views, people and food"
IanofCF, 01 Février 2022

We had a dinner bed breakfast and ferry package with the New Holmwood hotel, its right on the sea with great views across to the New Forest, our room faced the sea and was comfortable and warm on a chilly January weekend, the food was really good both for dinner and breakfast, all the staff helpful. Covid safety measures sensible.

"Lovely pet friendly hotel"
M5475EIlisac, 12 Décembre 2021

A warm comfortable and friendly seafront hotel ideal for a stay in Cowes. Great breakfast and lovely staff. There is a welcoming and well appointed bar. We had a stunning sea view room, and the beach is a couple of minutes away.

"I would give 10 stars if I could"
Nora D, 02 Décembre 2021

We love this hotel. We visit when we can and always celebrate our birthdays for a night here. The pinnacle was our wedding blessing service which had been postponed twice due to Covid, but went ahead on 13th November. It was absolutely perfect. We had the whole hotel to ourselves as all our guests stayed the night. David, Cathy and staff gave their all to make sure our day was perfect and it truly was. No one could have done more. The rooms (as always) spotless and well appointed. The food out of this world. Considering there were 55 guests during the day for the lunch it was hot, wonderful and served with the usual professionalism. And of course, it took place in the conservatory overlooking the sea; perfect! The evening buffet was ample (everyone remarked on this). We love this hotel for a reason and that reason is that we are welcomed as family rather than just paying guests. Every member staff, whatever role they are in, go out of their way to make a guest's stay memorable. We couldn't recommend anywhere else if you are around the Cowes area. Thanks again, David Cathy and staff for making sure our special day will live in our memory forever. Nora and Mike

"Up to BW standard"
Judy B, 02 Décembre 2021

Good hotel, clean and well kept with really great staff all round. The food was excellent and offered some different combinations from run of the mill. There is parking at the hotel but parking anywhere else in Cowes was expensive but the town centre was withing walking distance.

"Great location and service"
Stlo01, 27 Novembre 2021

Situated in West Cowes the hotel is a short walk along the sea front to the retail and restaurant area.. Being out of season the town was quiet and not all the restaurants are open. Whilst we did not eat in at night the menu looked good and were it not for us wanting to go out we would have given it a try. We had a standard room and could see the sea. The room was well provided for and had a comfortable bed. Everyone we met made us feel very welcome. Parking was no problem.

"Brilliant!"
318barriel, 26 Novembre 2021

I was speaking at a dinner to be held at the New Holmwood, and living in East Anglia, decided to stay for a few extra days. What a great decision that proved to be! Our room was spacious and comfortable, and with a view of the Solent over to the mainland. The staff were friendly, and yet professional. The whole place had the sort of warmth one gets from a family-run hotel, and yet there was the professionalism of a wider group. The restaurant was one of the best we have been to - and we have been to a lot. The choice and quality, at breakfast, lunch and dinner, was unforgettable. We hope to return to the Isle of Wight, and if we do so, there will only be one place we would consider staying - the New Holmwood Hotel.

"Good hotel with friendly staff."
LDSouthBucks, 24 Novembre 2021

Good location and the hotel has a very good restaurant. Rooms are more than adequate and no problems with parking. Staff very approachable and very friendly. We always eat there in the evenings but do not go down for breakfast so cannot comment .

"Super friendly"
trish631, 15 Novembre 2021

All the staff are really friendly, attentive and helpful . The rooms are well equipped and beautifully decorated, with lovely sea views to the front. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices.

"Another wonderful visit.."
chrish75, 07 Novembre 2021

Thank you to David and his team for making us feel so welcome again in this timeless bit of tranquility in Cowes. Dinner was excellent and breakfast fab. This feels like a family run business and I hope it never changes! We look forward to returning in the new year. Chris and Nic

"Comfortable bedrooms, excellent food, attentive staff and good position"

"A Guillemot Golf Tour"
George W, 04 Novembre 2021

I spent nearly 2 years organizing a Golf tour for 20 golfers, the hotel could not do enough for us, they prepared Dinner for 2 nights, the food was excellent, and the service superb. The Manager David Titley was outstanding in delivering what we required. We were charged £25 per head for a pre-ordered limited menu dinner. It was delivered punctually and enjoyed by all, a privately owned hotel, with the owners living abroad. The breakfasts we excellent, and o the final morning delivered with speed so some of the party could catch the ferry. The rooms were good and comfortable ideal for a golfing break

"Excellent Hotel - Will Definitely Return"
Lisa L, 04 Novembre 2021

Geat hotel in Cowes with parking which is always a must for us. The staff whether working on Reception or in the Restaurant were all exceptional in terms of Cjustomer Service.. Extremely friend, helpful and informative in terms of protocol. The food in the restaurant was excellent whether breakfast or dinner. The whole experience was easy and the room we booked offered a great sea view. The room was a good size and very clean. Will book a return visit next year.

"Would always use when visiting Cowes"
Nigel G, 30 Octobre 2021

A well run, conveniently located hotel. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped and the restaurant is of a very high standard. The hotel has friendly and efficient staff. I would be very happy to return in future.

"Relaxing holiday"
Ann B, 11 Octobre 2021

This hotel is about 15 minutes walk out of West Cowes along sea front. The food is fantastic. Breakfast & Dinner. We didn't have a sea view room but that didn't matter as the lounge & restaurant overlook the sea and there's also an outside patio.

"Excellent"
donnamV2313UJ, 10 Octobre 2021

Just got back from a 3 night break, we've had a fab time. The hotel is bright and airy, rooms are a good size with a decent shower and hot water!! Everything you need in the room, the housekeepers came in everyday. The restaurant is great, staff are very accommodating and the food is amazing - they definitely have a team that work well together, nothing is to much trouble and the views from the dining room are amazing. The reception staff are also great, very welcoming, polite and friendly. Overall the hotel is one of the best I've been to, perfect location for a stroll into Cowes, will definitely be back.

"First. Class stay in a superb Hotel"
peship, 09 Octobre 2021

We spent a relaxing week at this well run Hotel. It was our third visit over the past 5 years. The accommodation was spotless and with pleasant views over neighbouring gardens and sea. The staff were welcoming, the service and food was also excellent. Cowes with it's position is an ideal location for seeing the Island. It's outlook to the Solent has much interest due to the sailing that occurs even at this time of year.It was also a particular pleasure to meet and speak with Kathy in the restaurant who was as always helpful and eager to please.

"Friendly"
dorsetspouse, 09 Octobre 2021

The room was a good size, very clean and with a sea view. We had dinner and breakfast, both very good with exceptional service, we also enjoyed the seating outside,. watching the world go by. Recommended.

"Excellent stay once again!"
ashley601, 04 Octobre 2021

This was our second trip to this hotel who once again made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. You feel like you are in a family run hotel with all the staff being part of that family, all committed to giving an excellent service with a smile. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left we were well looked after with special assistance where needed, including how to charge my electric car up, ordering taxis, etc. The food was excellent as evident by the restaurant which was packed every day we were there. We'll definitely be back next year!

"Birthday stay"
relax4429422021, 03 Octobre 2021

Fantastic stay in a lovely room which was really clean and well equipped. We couldn't fault the staff they were so efficient and helpful for any queries we had. The food was delicious we are both vegan and felt we were catered for really well. I would recommend staying here fab hotel with fantastic views.

"Great hotel in a great location"
Urbogeek, 03 Octobre 2021

Right on the seafront with a car park, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were large and newly decorated and the food was delicious, best to book as popular with locals. We would definitely stay here again.

"Great Lunch with Views"
dagdabear, 30 Septembre 2021

Stopped here for lunch when exploring the Gurnard/Cowes area. The hotel stands out as the only establishment of its type along a long stretch of coastal road into Cowes from Gurnard. Not wanting to drive into Cowes which is often crowded we decided to give it a go for lunch. We were very pleased that the hotel still had Covid safe measures in place on entering and was quickly taken to a table on the hotel's terrace which overlooks the Solent and Southhampton. The lunch menu was extensive from snacks to full roasts and a catch of the day fish special. We chose the ham and cheese ploughman and what a good choice it was. Plenty of hand-carved ham and good cheddar cheese with a nice mix of salad, pickles, apples, and bread. We also had a side of onion rings which was just as good. Was very pleased that after enjoying a good meal, great service, and wonderful views the bill was quite reasonable. Definitely will come back to eat here again and maybe even consider staying.

"Lovely comfortable hotel in fabulous location"
567lisbethk, 27 Septembre 2021

We stayed for 3 nights and were blessed with good weather so the restaurant overlooking the sea was a real joy.the food was excellent, obviously a talented chef.beds were comfortable and towels always dry thanks to a heated towel rail. It was an easy walk along the seafront into cowes. All the staff were helpful and cheerful. I would certainly return Our next 2 nights were at a hotel in the new forest which was twice as expensive and nowhere near as good

"Suva's holiday"
23carolynn, 19 Septembre 2021

This is the best hotel I have stayed in. The staff are helpful, friendly and thoughtful. Suva, my dog, was made very welcome and had treats as well. The building itself is well maintained and decorated. There was a good selection of vegetarian food which was well cooked. The views from the hotel are amazing.

"Wonderful doggy-welcome"
BrightonVeganJenny, 19 Septembre 2021

Great location and very friendly staff. My giant Irish Wolfhound puppy, Logan, received an incredibly warm doggy-welcome. It would have been good to have had a vegan menu but, other than that, our stay was perfect.

"Lovely stay again"
Dowsingdiva, 14 Septembre 2021

Great location and good views from the hotel. Staff are all very friendly and welcoming, nothing seems to be too much trouble. Rooms are simply furnished but very comfortable. The food in the restaurant is well worth sampling.

philandchrisking, 13 Septembre 2021

My husband and I stayed at this lovely hotel four nights DBandB on the 6th September,It was our wedding anniversary, the hotel left a card in our room, which was a lovely touch. We stayed in the Uffa fox suite, with a lovely sea view.. The food was of an excellent standard and the staff very friendly, The hotel made us feel very covid safe, with its cleanliness, and mask wearing. This was our second visit and would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

The hotel is an ideal position, facing the sea and a short walk along the promenade into the town centre. The staff from reception to restaurant were all amazing and so friendly The room itself was spotless and a generous size too We ate in the restaurant with friends on the evening, the food was spectacular, really good quality and excellent value Would recommend eating here even if you are not staying in the hotel

"Fantastic Service and Fantastic Food"
carolandianh, 24 Août 2021

This hotel truly exceeded our expectations. All the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was also excellent. Both breakfast and dinner were superb. A nice menu selection of simple but well cooked food, served in a restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere.

"Great view,Great Hotel."
250Alan, 23 Août 2021

Spent four very relaxed and pleasurable days at this hotel. The staff are extremely pleasant and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble to them. The decor of the hotel is very light and airy with several nautical scenes throughout the lounge and dining areas. The rooms are decorated to a very good standard and extremely clean. Unlike some hotels in this period of covid the room was fully serviced every day. The breakfast is excellent, with a comprehensive menu. On the buffet all items where replaced as soon as they ran out so no need to rush or hoard items. The cooked breakfast was always cooked to perfection from a very comprehensive menu, including freshly made crepes. Outstanding! All this whilst watching yachts plying the Solent. The dinner menu and wine list are also excellent. There is also a real ale on draught. Car parking is also on site and is free, with spaces large enough for modern cars. We will be returning to this hotel very soon for another relaxing short break.

"Excellent food and staff"
Princy2, 22 Août 2021

Excellent meal for the money, we were on holiday for a week at cowed, walked to hotel. Very friendly from the off, we had the Sunday car very for £17.50 three courses and coffee. It was excellent value for money. The staff very cheerful and helpful. Ideal for the more mature people or a large family

"Nicest hotel we've stayed at"
davemanasseh, 17 Août 2021

Stayed here with my 70+ father who is deaf. I had to work during the day but the hotel staff were very helpful allowing him to wait in the bar from 1:30, then walking him to our room at 2:30. The hotel staff could not be more helpful to us. Food was great and room was perfect - thank you we will be back when my work brings me back to the island

"Summer lunch"
myra b, 17 Août 2021

We have not stayed in this hotel but we have used the restaurant twice. This is the second time we have had lunch here as so pleased with out last visit.. We asked to sit on the terrace overlooking the sea. We both chose the Isle of Wight beef lasagne with chips and salad and it was extremely good. Staff very friendly especially the young male server who was very attentive and friendly. Service was quick and efficient with large portions. Would highly recommend, we shall return.

"Great location, friendly staff, surprised by the good restaurant"
fj412, 12 Août 2021

We stayed here for a few days Monday-Thursday and really enjoyed our time in the hotel. The location is excellent, right on the seafront (with the road in front of course, but the views from the terrace are great) and the service was also really friendly. The rooms could probably do with a refresh, the bathroom in particular had some 90s vibes, but the bed was comfortable and other than the slightly older style there was nothing to complain about at all. We had a partial seaview room, and the window opened nice and widely so we could get some colder air into the room during the night. There is no AC but there was a ceiling fan. The food in the restaurant was lovely - not necessarily fancy but it was of very good quality, reminding us of very good home cooking, and sitting on the terrace in the evening with the views was a good way of ending the day. We had originally planned to eat out in the evenings but ended up eating here twice. The staff were also always helpful and really friendly. The hotel is small enough that they know your names and this makes it all feel a lot more personal. Parking (included) was at the front of the hotel, which can get busy but we always managed to find a space. Overall, with the exception of perhaps a little room refresh, it was a lovely hotel with great staff, good food and a very nice view from the restaurant terrace!

"great stay"
dnicholson44, 07 Août 2021

from walking in to leaving you are made to feel so welcome the staff are so friendly and nothing is to much trouble in the way they help you the rooms are serviced daily the food is excellent well prepared with a good selection for breakfast there are amazing views across the solent from the lounge and verandah no trouble with parking car park and plenty of spaces on the road would highly recommend this hotel especially to dog owners

"Five star service"
friendsmithfamily, 31 Juillet 2021

Our second stay at New Holmwood, following a one-night stop last year on our around-island walk. This time we stayed for 5 nights with our family of four plus two elderly parents. This is a fantastic hotel, and we felt really relaxed and ‘at home'. The hotel restaurant has fantastic views across the Solent through panoramic windows. The staff, without exception, are all really friendly and cheerful - from the cleaning staff to reception, to waiters/waitresses. Food in the restaurant is excellent - we ate there for two evening meals as well as breakfasts. Food is really nicely cooked and there is a good selection of vegetarian options. Would wholeheartedly recommend the New Holmwood.

"Superb stay"
Peter M, 31 Juillet 2021

A total experience, which was enjoyed for our whole stay. Superb living, dining and leisure. Clean tidy and well serviced. Extremely friendly staff who can not do enough for your comfort, thank you New Holmwood Cowes for an exceedingly wonderful break

"Wonderful short break"

"Fabulous stay"
2outandabout2019, 16 Juillet 2021

Had super 5 night stay in Uffa Fox suite. Were made to feel welcome by every member of staff from the moment we arrived. Lovely friendly, homely atmosphere, great service and fantastic food. Location very good - short walk into Cowes town with its good selection of shops. Spectacular sunset and views. Have already booked our return visit for 2022!

"Dog and person friendly"
Readers62, 14 Juillet 2021

We stayed from Saturday to Monday as the best location to complete Ultra Challenge as the event was based in Cowes Showground. We are a couple and we brought along our dog Millie. We were made welcome, our dog was provided with treats and COVID security was excellent. Our room was comfortable and clean and we enjoyed resting on the terraced area near reception. Service was excellent and wine was lovely. We are in the hotel restaurant and breakfast was included in the package. Food was excellent and service was good too. As I was setting off on my challenge I asked for a received a packed breakfast on Sunday morning. The only problem we encountered was that there are currently very few taxis available on the island. So getting to a from the Showground was stressful. However, we had a lovely stay at the hotel, there is a lovely seafront view from the terrace. We were able to walk along the seafront but beware as dogs are not allowed on the beach. There are some green areas, a beach hut nearby serving snacks and ice creams and Cowes is a short walk along the seafront too. Thank you to the Team

"Nice stay, well rested."
ianwebb75, 13 Juillet 2021

A nice hotel in a great location. Right across the road from the water and a short walk to the town Centre. Beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. Bathrooms need updating. Restraunt area was good with a lovely roast. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

"Fabulous stay with brilliant team"
ldench53, 12 Juillet 2021

I cannot praise the team highly enough for the brilliant and friendly service from the moment we arrived to the time we left. The hotel is on the seafront with uninterrupted views of the Solent and a stroll into Cowes, fantastic position. The room was spotless and the bed so comfortable. Breakfast was huge and very tasty. I would rate the hotel as excellent

"A wedding to remember"
Mimzy22, 09 Juillet 2021

Myself, husband and baby came to celebrate my best friends wedding, I had heard about the hotel and staff previously but when we got there the experience was amazing such a warm and friendly welcome and so helpful with any questions we had. The wedding venue looked beautiful and our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, along with a travel cot for our little one. Beautiful views and venue aswell! Staff are amazingly helpful and friendly, my husband went to the room with little one for the evening and they offered to take food to the room :) Would 100% recommend new Holmwood

"Great Welcome."
2_Romantics, 09 Juillet 2021

Thought twice about writing a review because it could encourage more people to stay. BUT that's the point. Everyone at the New Holmwood made an effort we enjoyed our few days of Bed, (comfy) Breakfast (generous) and Evening Meal (varied and well cooked). We will be back

"Very Comfortable Hotel"

Stayed 3 nights in this lovely location and would highly recommend this hotel. Well positioned, friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast and comfortable surroundings. Room was good with a nicely appointed bathroom and all the extras. Evening meals were of a good standard too with a varied menu and daily specials. At the front is a perfect sun terrace to enjoy a drink from the bar. A really enjoyable stay - we would visit again.

"Holmwood Bound"
ClaireandJohn2013, 01 Juillet 2021

Fabulous hotel with lovely freshly decorated room and bathroom. All staff, from housekeeping to front of house were really friendly and helpful. Completely Covid compliant which is very re-assuring. Felt safe and comfortable. Full table service at breakfast due to not being able to offer the buffet, but selection was excellent. Would thoroughly recommend and will visit again.

"Blues(BCFC)on tour"
Alan W, 27 Juin 2021

We had a car problem and after getting it sorted eight of us were looking for a light lunch and called on speck at this hotel which is situated in a super seafront location. We could not have been made more welcome by the wonderful friendly reception and serving staff and we ensconced ourselves on the outside terrace at the front of the hotel. We enjoyed some delightful sandwiches and other snacks together with teas and beers before rain drove us inside the hotel.Thank you Scotti(?) ,the lady from Cannock and all the other excellent staff. Based on our impressions, we would fully recommend this hotel either for a stay or visit.

"Ideal Short Break"
gb640_m, 21 Juin 2021

Stayed for a three night weekend break. Unfortunately the weather was not great; however, we could not fault the facilities or the staff. The hotel is very clean and the beds extremely comfortable and everyone working there wants to help you enjoy your stay. We were attracted to the hotel because of the lovely view over the Solent from the front patio which we were, because of the weather only able to enjoy for a short period. The New Holmwood is a 5 minute drive from the chain bridge crossing and from the hotel it is only an 18 minute walk along the sea front to the centre of Cowes. There is good parking on site with easy access to the rest of the island by car if you wish.

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"
Kate_S06, 19 Juin 2021

I only leave reviews if the experience is either spectacularly bad, or far exceeds my expectations. This hotel was definitely the latter. We had an overnight stay with our two spaniels and everything about the experience was perfect. David, Julian and the team were incredibly helpful and the thoughtful touches meant so much! The birthday card and treats left in the room for our girls were such nice extras. All of the staff were warm, welcoming and made all four of us feel totally at home. I would highly recommend a stay!

"Group booking of 36"
bigships, 14 Juin 2021

I took a group of approximately 36 guests to the New Holmwood Hotel for a four night break. This Hotel is wonderful. From the fabulous welcome to the position and from the wonderful restaurant to the amazing staff this hotel has it all. Rooms are clean and very comfortable, Lounge areas are spotless and airy, the restaurant is stunning with it's view and the food would be far more than acceptable in a five star London restaurant. Really this Chef is without doubt one of the best. All in all a fantastic break and I have another group in this week, we are all green with envy!!!

"Great stay"
firsttimereviewer_12, 13 Juin 2021

Spotlessly clean. Great facilities, even better location. Nice breakfast with excellent service. Obviously owned and managed with pride. Could leave bikes securely and staff happy to help out with water bottles etc. Nice outdoor space with lovely views of sea.

"Amazing Hotel"
dianeaQ9496FC, 11 Juin 2021

Have just got back from this amazing Hotel. It should be 5 star. The manager and his wife and the team work so hard and very helpful and friendly nothing is too much trouble. And as for the food it is better than top London restaurants. The place is spotless thanks too the house keeping staff. Cant wait to go back. Thank you so much for giving me a lovely holiday.

"Excellent friendly hotel with great food."
Angela T, 06 Juin 2021

Excellent staff friendly and helpful. Dining in the restaurant for breakfast and evening meal all good was well cooked and presented with a good choice of specials. Rooms older style but clean and spacious and some with sea views.attention to cleaning was excellent.

"Covid Getaway"
paulinepogson, 30 Mai 2021

Lovely hotel in an excellent position in Cowes, Isle of Wight. All staff are welcoming, friendly, pleasant, helpful and efficient at their duties. Despite the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, the staff ensured our stay was a very pleasant one. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast menu provided an excellent selection and the evening meal we had there was well presented and delicious. Service in the restaurant was excellent too.

"Excellent stay "
CooksAlan, 23 Mai 2021

This was only a 2 night stay we had 2 motorcycles with us so we booked here as the parking looked good. We are so glad we did the staff are Excellent and very polite the rooms are a bit dated but very clean the breakfast was good quality and plenty of it. We had an evening meal on both nights in the hotel restaurant this was lovely food with great service we couldn't fault it and the table service for drinks due to Covid was excellent never had to wait to be asked if we want another drink. Definitely would stay here again

"Fabulous meal"
Janet S, 22 Mai 2021

We had a long-awaited indoor lunch with friends a few days ago. It was well worth waiting for. The meal was delicious, staff were attentive and to top it all, a lovely sea view from the restaurant. We will be returning soon!

"Lovely welcoming hotel ❤️"
W2222GZdh, 21 Mai 2021

Couldn't fault this great hotel in their opening week after shutdown. Lovely staff, sparkling clean and excellent food and a fabulous position on the esplanade seafront in Cowes just a pleasant level walk into town. Our sausage dogs made to feel very welcomed - and even had their own dining room just perfect ......thankyou we will definitely be back.

"Amazing staff but very tired hotel "
Jonathanhb, 13 Décembre 2020

This hotel is a hotel of 2 halves. On the one side the decor and fittings are old, worn and not very appealing. On the other side you have a team of people including the owner /manager who are amazing - nothing is too much trouble for them and while the decor is not nice the hotel is spotlessly clean. While the staff are amazing it sadly does not make up fully for the quality of the rooms. The bedroom was painted a terrible “cappuccino” colour and there were no pictures on the wall. The ceiling lights were horrible and there were no plugs next to the bed. The hairdryer was fixed to the wall in the corner and must have been 20 years old. The view however was lovely. We also had a serious problem with the bed on our first night (it was broken and made a horrible noise every time you turned over). To the hotels credit they changed it for the second night and I understand they are looking to upgrade them all soon. In the bathroom things didn't get much better. The tiles were from the 1980s and the bottom of the bath was chipped. Most annoyingly, the shower is fixed to the wall and (at 6' 3”) was only the height of my shoulder blades. Trying to wash my hair was not easy. Finally the sound proofing in the rooms is non existent and not only could we hear everything going on in the next room but we also could hear everyone walking outside the door. This hotel could be amazing but it needs some love and attention to the rooms to bring them into the 21st century.

"A Little Gem"
Rjk360, 02 Novembre 2020

We stayed for a long weekend with little expectation when we arrived but on leaving we can't wait to come back.Exceptional staff and customer service, nothing too much trouble and always happy to answer any questions you have.Superb breakfast and even Real ale at the bar.Highly commended.

"Island hospitality at its best."
DoraandNigel, 01 Novembre 2020

Ideally located at Egypt Point approximately 10mins walk from the centre of West Cowes. We stayed for 4 nights in a seaview room ( Rm 20) which had a good view of the busy Solent shipping lanes. There was ample off road parking at the front of the hotel. We were very pleased to see that the hotel had excellent Covid 19 safety measures in place. Our ensuite room on the first floor was nicely decorated & clean. We had breakfast & all our evening meals at the hotel. There was a good choice of food which was extremely well cooked & presented. The staff were clearly well trained & professional at the same time being friendly, welcoming & efficient. We would have no hesitation recommending The New Holmwood Hotel to family & friends & would very likely return ourselves in the near future. Many thanks to all the staff for a very enjoyable stay.

"Great place to stay on the Island"
mrmachilds, 25 Octobre 2020

Excellent quiet location, with great views over the Solent, superb cooking with a good choice, friendly, helpful staff, all at a reasonable price. Definitely our favourite place to stay. What more could you want?

"A Gem - both in position and friendliness"
SDAD5, 18 Octobre 2020

Have just returned home after a lovely weekend on the Isle of Wight. This hotel was perfect for our break. Amazing location, exceptionally clean (and covid safe) and the friendliest staff we have come across. Everyone was genuinely happy, helpful and keen to please. Thank you so much for making our visit memorable.

"Best stay on the Isle of Wight"
Stuart D, 17 Octobre 2020

As always a great, safe, comfortable, friendly stay. A real credit to the Best Western brand and a real credit to the Isle of Wight. I really can't recommend this hotel enough, great location, great staff, clean, tidy, well appointed and covid safe

"Golden Wedding anniversary visit"
magnyvex, 13 Octobre 2020

We had a wonderful stay in this hotel following our very quiet Golden Wedding anniversary celebrations at home in Wiltshire. An anniversary card was in our room when we arrived 6th October. The sea could be seen from our sunny and spacious side facing room. The room was clean and well furnished. Due to Covid restrictions, the room wasn't serviced whilst it was occupied which wasn't a problem as you only had to ask for tea, coffee top ups and towel replacements if needed. Rubbish could be left outside door. We had room only as we don't normally have breakfast if dining the night before. We did eat in the restaurant two nights running. The food was delicious and waiting staff helpful and friendly. The hotel had a charm that is missing from the modern chain hotels and we hope to return next year.

"Always reliable"
Happyislandlady, 11 Octobre 2020

Never stayed here as it is only a walk from our home but this summer we have dined here many times. And the weather has meant we can sit outside on their spacious terrace and watch all the activity on the Solent. Reception and waiting staff all lovely. Really professional, friendly and helpful. Food delicious! Lunch menu not huge, but have pretty much worked our way through all the choices and everything good! Clean, tidy environment and covid-19 precautions all very evident.

"Helpful and friendly"
john s, 08 Octobre 2020

We have recently had our wedding reception at this hotel. David, Kathy and all the staff were truly amazing and the food was superb. It was touch and go if we would be able to go ahead because of the ever changing Covid restrictions but David ensured we had social distancing and the whole event ran like clockwork. Our grateful thanks to you all. John and Trevor

"Old fashioned in a good way"
Conqueror17, 07 Octobre 2020

This hotel delivers a good service. The decor is tired and fifties but the staff are polite and efficient. Indeed bar and restaurant staff were first class young gentlemen. Nice to see old fashioned customer service in action. It suffers a bit from being part of a chain and pre check in Information was too general and not specific such as not telling us that the floating bridge was closed involving a 30 minute detour. No information about room cleaning procedures either. Plenty of e- mails about reward points though. Both breakfast and dinner were excellently cooked and served in accordance with social distancing. Rooms were comfortable. Parking on site and great views of the Solent with a bracing 20 minute walk into town.

"Good hotel in a superb location!"
588jurgenr, 20 Septembre 2020

The rooms are what you expect from a Best Western hotel room: clean, decent size, everything works but without too much charme or luxury. What makes the New Holmwood a bit more special is its location with great views of the Solent. And sure, during the busy summer months or weekends it is a bit overpriced ... but so are most other properties in and around Cowes!

"Friendly staff, very clean"
Teddington159, 18 Septembre 2020

A shoutout to the staff on reception who were each friendly, welcoming and cheerful, and responsive to emails sent before arrival. As is normal practice, even before Covid, we always clean handles and TV remotes with a sanitising wipe after seeing many a TV documentary about general levels of hotel cleanliness. Delighted to find not a trace of dirt or residue on any of the wipes after use - very impressed. The hotel decor is a little dated and the beds have seen better days but staff were happy to provide additional toppers to cushion the bedsprings. Great location, very popular restaurant (not tried). As said, the staff and the hotel's efforts to maintain strict hygiene practices in these strange times make up for any deficiencies in level of decor and bed comfort.

"Great View and super staff"
Paul M, 18 Septembre 2020

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The views over the Solent are great and a nice balcony is available. Beware, afternoon tea is popular with locals and balcony space will disappear fast in good weather. Plenty of parking which is also used by local day visitors. The room was spacious and comfortable. Personally would have preferred a shower only rather than part of a bath ensemble. The walk into town is great but probably 25 mins rather than 15. No obvious noise from the road outside during the night. Did not have breakfast so no comment. So overall : Popular place. Great staff. Great location. Would stay again.

"Chilled out mini break"
Philippa K, 16 Septembre 2020

My husband and I have just returned from this lovely hotel, we stayed for two nights and three days, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the hotel is immaculately clean, and the tables well spaced apart in the restaurant, the food is of an excellent standard, with very friendly staff, and look forward to returning and sitting on the lovely terrace,

"Relaxing break"
charsmudge, 14 Septembre 2020

What a little gem right on the seafront, just perfect. The staff at the hotel we all so friendly and polite nothing was too much. Views from the terrace were beautiful. We had a nice quiet room with a side sea view. We will be back for 7 days next time. Well done to all of the staff for making us feel so welcome. Lots to see and do on this beautiful island. Sharon and Wayne

"Friendly Staff, location, views"
Graham M, 06 Septembre 2020

The outlook from the hotel is beautiful. Views across to Calshot, yachts, seagoing ships. Our room was the Fox Suite on the first floor. Huge room with a lounge area. Bathroom a little small and could do with maybe could do with a walkin shower rather than a shower bath. King size bed, very comfortable. Staff here are of the highest calibre and always friendly. Special mention for Reception and the Restaurant Manager who make your stay special. A couple of minus points. Very limited parking on site. Quality of the food in the restaurant a bit hit and miss. The hits being shortbread baked on premises (amazing) and lovely bread rolls with the soup, plus great omelettes at breakfast. Misses include quality of the breakfast sausage and quality of lamb in evening. But that is all subjective. Would stay again for sure. Covid worriers fear not as they go 100% to ensure your safety and theirs.

"Great hotel"
bjwratten, 06 Septembre 2020

We stopped at this hotel a while ago and were really impressed with everything, so when we were wanting to get away after being shut in for the last few months, like thousands of others, we thought about this hotel. As we live in South West London it was a very easy trip down the M3 to Southampton and the Red Funnel ferry to East Cowes Because of all the uncertainty we left booking until quite late. Even so the manager could not have been more helpful trying to fit us in. He also asked if we were coming by car and I said that we would be, he then offered to book the ferry both ways for us there by saving us £30. We arrived on Monday 31st August and stayed until Friday 4th September. There were some changes due to the covid virus but nothing that interfered with our enjoyment at all. Masks had to worn in the public areas but not in the restaurant or lounge. The bar was closed but there was a good waiter service in the lounge and the outside seating. The large decking area outside looks right across The Solent towards Southampton, as do all the front bedrooms and there is always plenty to watch as the huge P and O ferries and a variety of tankers and container ships pass the hotel about 200 meters off shore. The hotel has an adequate car park and whenever we returned in the evening there was always room to park. If you walk across the car and the road you are on the beach which is shingle and the area is quite quiet, but you are only just over a mile to Cowes town centre. The hotel staff are wonderful, always cheerful and very helpful. The food is good and the rooms spotless. We had good weather which helped and during our time there we saw most of the island. All in all we were very sad to leave.

"Would stay again "
Eileen3378, 03 Septembre 2020

Situated in Cowes a 15 min walk along the seafront into the town centre so away from the hustle and bustle. Hotel itself was spotless and the staff eager to help. Room had everything we needed with a super king size bed although a bit too firm for my preference. We didn't eat here but the restaurant looked popular with plenty of people using the balcony. They were strict with covid protocols too, sanitiser but around the hotel and plenty of warning signs and instructions to wear masks, not everyone did and the restaurant was relaxed on this too. Check out the Cabin on the Green a couple of minutes walk along the beach for wonderful ice cream. Oh and there was no charge to bring my dog which was so refreshing . I would definitely stay here again while in Cowes.

"Ok, great location"
186tracey, 03 Septembre 2020

Nice staff, great location, bit dated. Quality of cooked breakfast and scrambled eggs not great. Great view at breakfast! Mattress in our room needed changing, not good for the back. 20 minute walk into town centre for restaurants, shops etc.

"Great service and walking distance into Cowes"
Saffronroseflowers, 01 Septembre 2020

We've just returned from this hotel after a lovely bank holiday weekend with our small dog. Great view of the Solent and the yachts racing past from our spotless room, huge comfy bed and pillows, tea/coffee making facilities and super-clean bathroom. Fantastic service from all the staff who were very welcoming and helpful throughout.

"Most enjoyable stay"
Wiltshire_Wanderer_9, 29 Août 2020

Just home from a 4 night break at this great hotel. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was exceptionally clean as were all areas in the hotel. The food was amazing and beautifully presented. During these uncertain times we felt verycomfortable with the way the hotel had adhered to taking appropriate precautions. Well done to all members of staff and management. We will most certainly return.

"Lovely stay"
katystarbat, 28 Août 2020

Just stayed for 2 nights at this great hotel with children and dog. Beautiful views, helpful and friendly staff, Very clean and reassuring Covid-19 policies in place. Good breakfast service a great position for visiting West Cowes. Short 20 minute stroll into the town. Highly recommend.

"Good location and lovely walk along the prom into Cowes"
556lyndac, 25 Août 2020

Very friendly and helpful staff who are keen to make your stay as happy as they can. We had a problem with the shower and the plumber was called and shower fixed very quickly. We stayed last year and didn't hesitate to rebook this summer.

"Just Excellent !"
Sandham, 24 Août 2020

A lovely Sunday evening spent enjoying the views, food, and excellent service as always at the New Holmwood Hotel. Would definitely recommend a visit! No rushing around, relaxed atmosphere and will certainly be returning soon.

"Lovely stay with my dog"
redjo2017, 21 Août 2020

Was my 1st visit to the Isle of Wight. Such a welcoming hotel. Very dog friendly, my doggie even got a water bowl at breakfast. The staff are very attentive and helpful. This was my 1st hotel stay since Covid 19 and I felt very safe and at ease. Thank you for a lovely stay.

"First time out!"
Irena H, 18 Août 2020

My 1st trip and overnight stay since lockdown so was rather nervous. However, the location of Holmwood was excellent - right along the seafront. Easy walk into Cowes then back for a drink on the terrace overlooking the sea. Friendly service from everyone with guidelines in place. I will definitely come back with more friends.family.

"Relaxing Break"
tonysD3289TU, 09 Août 2020

My wife and I returned to the New Holmwood Hotel for a short break. I have to say how fantastic this Hotel is. David and his team make you feel so very welcome. The Hotel is first class in every respect. We had Dinner in the restaurant on two evenings and throughly enjoyed it. We were both very impressed with the actions that have been implemented to achieve social distancing throughout the Hotel and felt that it did detract from the first class service that the Hotel provides. I can highly recommend the New Holmwood Hotel, looking forward to our next stay.

"Good food and friendly service in a fabulous location"
Essexwoman_9, 01 Août 2020

This hotel is right on the beach overlooking The sea at Cowes giving great views from the terrace and the restaurant. The friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere made it a good place for me to stay on my own. My standard room was comfortable with all the amenities I needed and i could see the sea though the window was to one side. Restaurant food was very tasty - well cooked fish and an unusual vegetarian option followed by good quality desserts - don't miss the panna cotta! Staff were well aware of Covid guidance and the hotel felt safe without being clinical. The hotel seemed to be fully booked and deserves to be busy. Will stay there again.

"Real customer care, warm welcome and relaxing"
GaryS4798, 28 Juillet 2020

I travel regularly to the IOW for work. Last time was the first since lock-down and I have to admit I was a little apprehensive. The Best Western policies looked well thought out so I switched to the New Holmwood in Cowes. Good decision, they were brilliant. The reception was welcoming despite the Covid arrangements that they have had to employ. These arrangements were well organised, the room clean and the potential for transmission had been well thought through. On top of all that the welcome was warm, the food very good, and the service excellent. Great location, and views too. I am returning again this week which is recommendation in itself

"A real pleasure"
Edrat77, 24 Juillet 2020

I stayed for two nights on a break by myself to the Isle of Wight. A good impression was had before I'd even arrived when the taxi driver taking me from the boat crossing from the ferry port in east Cowes over to west Cowes to the hotel said “oh, you've picked a nice hotel to stay in” always a good sign when the local taxis recommend it. The location is amazing, right on the sea front a beautiful 10 minute stroll into the town centre. I arrived too early to check in, but they were able to look after my bag, and when I came back after check in time it was waiting in my room. All the staff were friendly and helpful with great local advice. One of the reception team printed all the bus time tables I need to get to the Needles (a must see), so she was most helpful! There is a lovely terrace overlooking the sea which is a real sun trap, with polite friendly service. The room was lovely, well kept and a good size. The bed was very comfortable too. I didn't use complementary toiletries provided but they looked excellent quality. The cooked breakfast was excellent quality and piping hot. Lastly of course I visited during Covid times, they have very sensible measures in place, (one way entry/exit, Perspex screens, face visors/masks, sanitiser, reduced restaurant seating, table service of drinks only) none of which detracted at all from the enjoyment of the stay. I will be back.

"Excellent hotel!"
L9259ECanthonyl, 23 Juillet 2020

The management and staff handled the current C19 situation magnificently. The meals were excellent in quantity and quality. Service was friendly and efficient, and attention to detail was outstanding. Scottie in particular looked after us extremely well. A quiet area with adequate parking, with Cowes and Gurnard within walking distance.

"Just a good Hotel."
F4430DVjohnk, 23 Juillet 2020

We stayed in the New Holmwood hotel for a single night. We wanted to see Cowes before we explored the rest of the island. So opted for a “budget” hotel, not expecting much. What a great surprise!! It was, from the moment we arrived, obviously the right choice to accidentally make. The staff were all to a person very friendly, helpful and attentive. The room we had was right at the back, it was very clean and very comfortable. Everything worked. They had obviously gone to great lengths to ensure that the guests are well looked after. We didn't eat at the place, but did return for a wine later in the evening. The breakfast was good. The breakfast was very good and there was no scrimping, the morning staff deserve special mention. There was an old fella there that the ladies looked after, as if it was their own family member. We left with a smile on our face. When we come back, we'll be staying again. The best place we stayed in that week of travelling. Thank you all.

"Birthday escape"
andy1967mitchell, 19 Juillet 2020

With all the covid stuff going on and uncertain times we wasn't sure if we should have a small break. So glad we did this place was lovely good food friendly staff great views. Thank you all for putting our safety first in all circumstances and providing our needs.

"Thank you "
S0phie_86, 16 Juillet 2020

We stayed at the New Holmwood hotel for our 1st wedding anniversary and we cannot thank the staff enough. We had an absolutely amazing time, the staff were fantastic and we would like the thank Carol, Cathy, Jess, Adam, Scotty and all the other members of the team and of course David for making everything perfect for us during our stay and for taking the time to give us our lovely anniversary card and arranging our special anniversary breakfast, you made us feel so welcome. We would highly recommend the new Holmwood to anyone who wants to get away from it all as it is in a fabulous setting where you can just watch the world go by on the terrace while having afternoon tea or couple of Beverages. It is also close to the local town so you can go for a stroll along the beach and visit Cowes. We will both be returning soon thank you all so much Sophie and Stuart

"excellent"
glennnorris1969, 11 Juillet 2020

superb staff and service in a difficult situation as this was first week of post covid lockdown everyone at the hotel went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasurable as possible thank you to everyone

"Wonderful!"
Juliepam57, 11 Juillet 2020

Another fabulous stay at The New Holmwood, this time to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, having had a fantastic wedding reception there on a beautiful hot summers day in 2010. David and Cathy gave us a lovely warm welcome as do all of the staff everytime we visit. They all go out of their way to make every guest feel special and nothing is too much trouble. We look forward to going again soon.

"Easement of Covid-19 Lockdown Lunch in the Restaurant - Ten out of 10 - 5*"
David R, 06 Juillet 2020

My family & I have enjoyed numerous meals here, as well as my daughters entire Wedding ceremony, meal & evening party. Nothing has ever been less than absolutely fantastic. Today (6th July) has been as outstanding as it always has been. Exceptional staff & Management service, the high level of 'Social Distancing' safety practices was perfect & didn't interfere with any aspect of the delightful Family meal occasion. We all had scrumptious meals in a very safe environment, can't wait to eat there again.

"Celebration Dinner"
Scotcher63, 04 Mars 2020

We were at the hotel for a celebratory dinner. There were 80 people for the sit down silver service meal. The food was excellent, and piping hot. We had pre-ordered and there were no hiccups with our orders. All tables were served promptly and cleared between courses. All of us were very impressed with the waiting staff. All the staff were smiley and friendly. My husband and I stayed overnight, the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty, there was a good selection of fruit and cereals etc followed by a hot breakfast to order. A leisurely Sunday morning looking at the sea. Will definitely be back.

"Latest Visit"
Neil H, 19 Février 2020

First reviewed in 2017, have been back a few times since. I'd call this visit an Early Valentines as both of us were working on the day itself. This time around there was an event that meant on one of our 3 nights the Restaurant was fully booked by a local club, as they had done for the past 10 years! Initially told we would have to eat elsewhere, the night before Kathy asked us if we wanted to have dinner in the hotel, given the weather, Storm Ciara blowing in, we said yes, she and the team went out of their way to lay-up a table in the bar and give us the same services as if we had been in the restaurant! Rooms have been refurbished, new carpet recently laid in the public rooms gives the hotel a brighter feel, revamped wine list with prices in line with the food served. Luckily we were not leaving on the Sunday, ferries cancelled.

"Excellent "
Mapledown, 02 Février 2020

Having stayed at many Best Westerns it made a logical choice as the only one on the island. I was not disappointed as it perfectly situated and has parking and close to the sea. Well looked after inside and out and the staff are exceptionally helpful and polite. Food was excellent and presented in a good time. All I can say is that I will be staying again when over on the island for business.

"What a fabulous place with lovely people."
Thesnowys1, 27 Janvier 2020

We stayed at this wonderful family run hotel to celebrate a very dear friends Birthday. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and we were given excellent service. The hotel was very inviting, comfortable and all of the staff did their very best to give great service. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was clean, well presented and we had everything that we needed. The bar was very well stocked and sensibly priced. We decided to have our evening dinner in their restaurant...Wow... what a good decision that was ! The food was amazing. There was lots of choice and it made the decision of what to order difficult. I have to say that the four of us ordered different starters, main courses and desserts and every one was fabulous. The food was very well cooked , tasty and value for money. We couldn't have asked for anything better.

"Weekend Away"
EmmaSRochester_Kent, 26 Janvier 2020

Stayed for a weekend in December for a family wedding. From the minute we arrived we couldn't of been made to feel more welcome, staff were absolutely amazing. Had a meal on the Friday night which we couldn't fault at all. Got to try(and finish) the rock salt vodka, very nice too. Nothing was too much trouble when asked for something, thank you for putting a fan in our room. We will definitely be back.

"Another Amazing Christmas"
swhitney489, 05 Janvier 2020

Our second Christmas at the New Holmwood cant fault it we where welcomed like old friends coming home for the holidays. Amazing food, quality ingredients perfectly cooked and a great choice including veggie & vegan. One of the best hotel breakfasts freshly cooked to order none of the dreaded "hot" buffet. Continental buffet option has all you would require including fresh baked croissants. David, Cathy, Jullien and the team thank you for a wonderful Christmas and for the lovely gifts.

"Fantastic"
JoJonty, 30 Décembre 2019

Stayed over Christmas and David and Kathy and all the team were just brilliant at making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The food was excellent, the rooms comfortable and very clean and the public areas always warm and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back again.

"Great hotel with great staff"
sandradM1503CU, 29 Décembre 2019

Thank you all at the Holmwood for a great Christmas, we all enjoyed our stay yet again. Ellie poodle also adores her stay as much as we do. Staff are outstanding, food fabulous and cannot wait to come back in April. Thank you David and Cathy and your wonderful family staff.

"Another lovely stay"
noradem, 14 Décembre 2019

We stay at the hotel every year in December for my fiance's birthday and sometimes more often. We are getting married here in 2020. David Cathy and their staff always make sure our stay is wonderful with the warmest of welcomes, the cleanest of rooms, the loveliest food and the most incredible service. We don't feel like guests we are more like "griends" (guest/friends). The hotel is warm, comfortable, relaxed, everything you want from a home from home. We can't wait for our wedding day in October 2020 and we just know David and Cathy will ensure our day is perfect.

"A nice stay "
F4343CGcharlesh, 05 Décembre 2019

Had booked in for one night and had a nice greeting and the staff took my bag to my room. The rooms are clean and tidy with all the mod cons you need and a nice sitting area We had book a meal in Cowes and it is a nice walk along the waterfront or 5 min in a taxi. The bar staff where very helpful but is a small bar but they have seating area around the place Breakfast was good with a ranger of fruit etc and the hot food was very nice Enjoyed our stay and hope to go back

"10 out of 10 in every area."
Hillbilly888, 28 Novembre 2019

From the beginning; Parking - plenty. Staff - lovely & welcoming. Dinner - lots of choice and great quality. Room - spacious and everything you'd need. Shower - Hot and good power. WiFi - great connection. Breakfast - Amazing, proper fresh fruit, great quality ingredients and perfectly cooked. No more Premier Inns for me on the gorgeous Isle of Wight. Highly recommended to all, for business or pleasure.

"A nice little hug in mid November"
gurpreet2017, 27 Novembre 2019

A repeat visit to this lovely hotel which has the most amazing views of the beach anytime of the year. Greeted with most helpful staff at reception who made check in very welcome and offered assistance with luggage. Room dimly lit and nice and warm. Boiled sweets, complimentary bottled water, biscuits and after dinner mints all add the extra loving touch. Food available at the hotel worth it as freshly cooked, variety and beach front views. You could not ask for more to relax after a long journey. Sleep equally pleasant with double bed and appropriate clean bedding. Refreshed after a good nights sleep, I managed to have a morning walk prior to breakfast which sets you up for the day. Breakfast served again with a view of the beach front. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Even though I only stayed for one night. I was treated so right I felt like I was hugged by a long lost friend.

"Nice hotel, older dated not new"
stejef66, 31 Octobre 2019

Nice reasonably clean, pleasant, nice sea view from hotel, small car free park, not new decor or hotel but nice, close enough to town, very nice food, kind staff, would happily stay again, and would recommend to others especially for dinner walks along the beach

"One night on the Isle of Wight"
danielscollardkerr, 23 Octobre 2019

Tthe hotel, is in a fabulous position, my wife and l thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay, and wished we could have stayed for more. Food is to die for, hospitality is second to none Thoroughly enjoyed our stay even though it must have been the wettest day of the year.

"Short family holiday in the most welcoming of hotels!"
lindabP2814JF, 23 Octobre 2019

Our family holiday required facilities for disabled and accommodation for a dog. Both were satisfied in this hotel to the highest of standards. From the moment we entered, we were given a great welcome and the staff were helpful, humorous, accommodating and friendly. Due to our circumstances, we decided it would be easier to eat every evening in the hotel. We all agreed that we wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere else! The food was excellent and it was a pleasure to work through the menu! The beds were comfortable and the rooms cosy. There are several places within the hotel to relax in comfortable chairs to read newspapers, chat, or simply enjoy the view. During our stay there was a wedding. Naturally there were lots of people about (which certainly satisfied a nosey person like me!) but the noise of people and music did not travel at all and the personal service for a small number like us did not waiver. In fact the organisation of the day, which we observed from time to time, seemed to go like clockwork. The hotel was marvellous but it should be said that the staff were fabulous and made the whole experience of staying there an absolute joy.

"Best western New Holmwood Hotel"
mattwestw00d, 21 Octobre 2019

Just amazing! I can't put it any other way. The food, the hotel and most of all, the staff were amazing. We were made to feel welcome and nothing too much trouble. You made our wedding day extra special. Unbelievable, I could recommend it enough.

"Visiting Friends of my king"
Josey W, 14 Octobre 2019

Stayed here for 1 night whilst meeting friends. I cant fault the staff or hotel. They all made my stay as easy and comfortable as it could be . They looked after me expertly. Which I am grateful for as travelling alone. The food was delicious and heard many others comment how good the food was yesterday so will have the same again today. My room was lovely, clean with added little extras. Will definitely stay again. Thank you to staff and management Thank you all at The New Holmwood.

"Great staff, great food"
PBPG, 13 Octobre 2019

One of the best places to eat on the Isle of Wight I am not a fan typically of restaurants in hotels but this was a most enjoyable visit. The food was good, well presented and tasty, and the staff very good. Kath is a star. The only downside was the supply of white bread. They ran out then found 3 slices but a minor point overall At £112.05 for the three of us including drinks it was very good value.

"Absolutely Fantastic"
BertieAnstey, 30 Septembre 2019

We had a super stay, they were very accommodating for our little puppy Bertie. All staff we just fantastic. We also got upgraded to a super room. Facilities were great.the views are to die for. A special call out to the staff on site on 29th September. We will be back.

"Superb week, superb hotel. Wow weather! "
gusj2013, 23 Septembre 2019

My wife and myself have recently returned to the Manchester area from a weeks stay in this very welcoming and comfortable hotel. The breakfasts and restaurant meals were first class as indeed were the attentive staff and attention to detail by the daily room service. The unique Solent views views are outstanding and the walks to either Cowes or Gurnard beside the Solent are no more than 20 mins. We most certainly will plan to stay again at The New Holmwood when next we visit Cowes. It was a memorable week made particularly special by our stay at this lovely hotel.

"Pleased to stay here"
heatherw781, 15 Septembre 2019

Was not expecting what we got. Yes car spots are a bit tight and yes stair and hallways are involed but worth it for price views and outstanding customer service. Arrived at 3pm walked to our room by staff. Had packed a overnight bag before arriving at Cowes and left our big suitcases in the car to make it easier of us. Went for a walk along the waters edge and came back to enjoy a gin and tonic on the balcony them moved to the restaurant for dinner. All so enjoyable. Rooms bigger than expected quiet and a king size bed. Very comfortable

"Best kept secret in the IOW"
gsh0705, 08 Septembre 2019

Hotel is a tiny bit dated, car parking a bit tight, lots of steps and stairs but you could not fault anything else. We were upgraded on request and room 11 has dual sea views and just about perfect. All the staff are friendly and efficient, dining room staff very accommodating, rooms are spotless, food is superb, location perfect, sunsets to die for!

"Ideal of Wight"
NigelS1123, 02 Septembre 2019

An excellent, well located and very friendly hotel that i was a pleasure to stay in. Rooms and public areas were comfortable attractive and welcoming. Seafront location offers a wonderful panoramic view of The Solent. The hotel food - breakfast and evening meal - is highly recommended.

"Lovely views"
Mrveldon, 30 Août 2019

For those of you who like luxury, this hotel is not for you. It's a classic old school British hotel that is pretty basic. But what it lacks in luxury it makes up in character. The hotel is right on the sea, so when Cowes week is on, you can watch the sailing and the views are spectacular. The bar and restaurants look on to the sea, so you can relax all day long. Food is good quality and the service is very friendly. And when you want, you can have a nice 10 minute walk along the esplanade into Cowes. Basic but has a nice charm about it.

"Birthday getaway"
Lisa I, 25 Août 2019

What a fantastic experience! I took my mum here for a couple of days to celebrate her birthday. On entering the hotel, we noticed ust how lovely the reception smelt. The lady on the desk was very welcoming with a happy smile. She wished mum a happy birthday . Then a wonderful surprise of a free upgrade to the Fox Suite. She directed us to our room and we climed the stairs with very soft and plush carpet beneath our feet. The room was exceptionally clean, smelt fresh, very airy, not a thing out of place. Another nice touch ws a birthday card left on the side for mum from the staff of the hotel. The bathroom was spotless and with lots of accessories for those unforseen events. The lounge area in the room was again very clean and comfortable. Beds are comfortable with plenty of pillows and very clean linen. The area surrounding the hotel, although on the waterfront is incredibly quiet so a good nights sleep is easy to achieve. A good selection of tea and coffee facilities, very clean kettle, complimentary water, chocolates and hard boiled sweets. The restaurant was spacious, exceptionally clean, with gentle background music so not to overpower peoples converations. We were given plenty of time to make our choice. The waiting staff were lovely and again wished my mum a happy birthday. The food was fabulous, beautifully presented. Check out was trouble free and the bill was clear. 100% recommend this wonderful hotel and very much look forward to going back.

"Fabulous dog friendly hotel"
Julest1971, 23 Août 2019

Very welcoming hotel right on the beach front. Our dog was made such a fuss of which made our stay perfect. Great place to explore the island from and always suggestions given from great staff. Shame we were only there fot a couple of nights.

"Weekend stay"
tshaw57, 20 Août 2019

This was booked for a relaxing stay on the Isle of Wight, we found the hotel and all the staff to be fantastic. The food at the hotel was really good with the bar area and terrace to be well laid out and a great place to relax.

"Cowes Week Hotel"
timjleggott, 14 Août 2019

The Holmwood again managed to accommodate me in perfect comport for Cowes Week, even though I left the booking until fairly late. They even have a car park which is easy to reach - especially if coming onto the island from the Lymington end.

"Business stay"
Roadcraft95, 13 Août 2019

Excellent and efficient service. Clean room full of nice touches and amenities. Friendly, patient and welcoming staff. The food in the restaurant for my evening meal was well prepared and of gourmet quality.

"A lovely break"
janetarm, 12 Août 2019

The New Holmwood is right on the sea front, with easy walking into Cowes and along to Gurnard Point. Having chosen this hotel for its sea views, we were slightly disconcerted to find a large marquee going up in front of the next door property for Cowes week, but luckily this did not spoil our stay. The rooms may not be the most modern in design - which would probably not look right with the age of the building - but everything was spotlessly clean, beds firm but comfy, and the waiters/waitresses so friendly and attentive. Breakfast was excellent, and the choice of evening meals - including a lovely vegetarian nut roast - was so good that we ate out on the terrace watching the ships go by, and then retreated to the comfy lounge, which made our short break so relaxing. We will certainly return.

"Never disappointed just like putting on your old slippers after a long day.."
johnbeard2019, 11 Août 2019

we have never been disappointed over the years it just gets better and better. from the moment we entered the reception the staff greeted us warmly and and made us feel truly welcome. They showed us to our room it was excellent it was clean and crisp we wanted for nothing in the room. the bed was so comfortable and we slept soundly a great rest. dinner in the restaurant was excellent and the views from the restaurant are glorious. breakfast is outstanding after many years of travelling i can honestly say nobody does it better. the staff are so good at making your stay memorable in a good way they even help with places to visit on the island. i can not recommend the hotel, food and staff highly enough.

"Luxurious hotel by the sea"
johnrichards1968, 10 Août 2019

My wife and I stayed here with our dogs for a few nights getaway. We were advised that the famous Cowes week was starting and that there was a big temporary grandstand on the seafront but it was fine with us as we could still take our dogs swimming each day. The staff wete really friendly and welcoming and our dogs were made very welcome. We ate at the hotel and the restaurant is amazing. It was better than many standalone restaurants I have stayed at and wasn't that pricey. It was nice to see everywhere busy with people getting ready for sailing and we particularly like sitting on the decking and watching the catamarans. Overall it was a great experience and we look forward to coming back again, maybe out of season, to see the difference. Well done everyone!

"No 'Spectacular Sea Views'"
zander149832, 04 Août 2019

Despite hotel contacting us to inform us beforehand of parking issues during our stay and me having spoken to them, they failed to mention the building site straight in front of the hotel which blocked any views at all and there was the constant noise of construction all day. Really disappointed with this and spoiled the break. I also had the worst welcome I/we have ever had at a hotel. The receptionist may have been having a bad day but this was really unacceptable. No-one to speak to about this either so would happily have reported concerns about these issues to management before or after if I knew how to find them! The rest of the staff were absolutely lovely and could not have done more. Location would be great if the building site had not been there. These two things spoiled our holiday.

"First class on every level"
JerryGilbert, 28 Juillet 2019

What a revelation this hotel was. It seemed to punch way above its weight on every level, from the seafront location, to the well equipped bedrooms, the stupendous restaurant, well-stocked bar (with local ales and gin) and the overall friendly service. Evening cocktails outside on the terrace, overlooking the sea and awaiting the spectacular sunsets, was a highlight. One person in particular (Cathy) always went the extra mile to ensure all our requirements from bar and restaurant were fulfilled with interest (not to mention humour and wit). Nothing was ever too much trouble. A memorable experience in every respect, and a place I would love to return to).

"Excellent"
David R, 19 Juillet 2019

We have been dining at the New Holmwood for the past 25 years and can honestly say that we have never experienced a bad meal, we have had lunches, evening dinners, Valentine nights and Christmas lunches and evening dinners. The ambience of the hotel is superb and all the staff are lovely. Dave and Kathy run a superb place and long may it continue.

"Excellent,Welcome & Service "
DarrenS824, 11 Juillet 2019

Called here 11th July 2019 around 1pm. We were so happy that this Best Western Establishment had the signs outside saying non residents welcome. The very professional lady on reception welcomed us and served us our drinks to which we proceeded outside on there terrace balcony overlooking the ocean. Fantastic weather made it all the more better. The food menu looked really nice and reasonable price too for the quality what we saw coming out of the kitchen. Drinks that we had were equally of decent price. 2 bottles of Peroni £7.30 which was cheaper than many mainland bars. All in All a great stop for a drink , chill and maybe a meal. Also something that's important to us is clean toilets and thus establishment delivered on that. Immaculate and Clean. Massive Thumbs up to all that clearly makes this place a success. We are planning a vacation stay here already..

"Excellent"
Billydick27, 11 Juillet 2019

Back to normal again after yet another excellent break at the ‘New Holmwood'. The room, on arrival, was perfectly serviced as it was each day of our stay. The restaurant food and service were first class with a good, varied selection to choose from. All the staff are very professional and efficient but also very friendly and helpful which creates a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere throughout the hotel. In fact everything was to just the same high standard as it has been on our previous visits and with brand new carpets this time - very smart! They even provided a week of wall-to-wall sunshine!! Thank you David, Kathy and all the staff. We keep looking at your webcam to remind us of a most enjoyable holiday.

"Only stayed one night, but very enjoyable"
Lucy M, 07 Juillet 2019

Parked in hotel car park which was nice and easy. The hotel is right on the promenade, looking out to the water and the seated balcony bar area offers lovely views of the setting sun. We were upgraded to the Sir Max Aitken suite (not sure why!) and this gave us our spacious bedroom, bathroon and a small lounge area. Whilst the views from the suite weren't great, we appreciated the space (there was lots of it) and the nicest thing of all was being able to open all the sash windows (including the bathroom) as it was a warm day/evening. Comfortable bed, quiet room and the breakfast was good, plenty of choice. Yes, this hotel might be a bit older, but everything was clean and well thought out and it was the nicest stay we've had in a hotel for a while. When we come back to IOW we'll certainly stay here again

"Good hotel & great location"
santoshsethi, 05 Juillet 2019

Rooms are very good and very comfortable.Breakfast is also good. Staff very polite and efficient.location of hotel is also great.Enough parking space for cars. I would definitely like to go snd s stay there.

"Holiday escape"
Sunshine47258545963, 01 Juillet 2019

Fabulous break in a warm welcoming hotel, with an amazing view of the busy Solent. The staff were a great team of professional, efficient and friendly individuals. Food was excellent and an extensive food choice available. Dog was also made welcome

"This just gets better and better!!!!"
bigships, 30 Juin 2019

This is the third time I have brought guests to this Hotel and it just gets better and better. There was nothing wrong at all with the two previous visits but somehow the in house team just surpass themselves. Lovely rooms, friendly helpful staff all of whom have time for a little chat and a good morning, and then the restaurant. Fantastic food that would stand up in a five star eatery in the west end of London. Where the management have got their kitchen staff from I don't know but for heavens sake hang on to them. They are simply fantastic!!!!! So after a fabulous 5 days we had to say goodbye, however I'm planning another visit and I'll be on the phone to David Julian and the team to sort out dates as soon as my office opens!!! I cannot recommend this place enough!!!

"One Night stay"
mushroom450, 29 Juin 2019

Hotel looked a bit tired, in need of modernising, also many older people had problems with the entrance steps and the heavy doors. just a point a party coach parked on the left of the car park made it very difficult to pass to exit the car park so I moved my car elsewhere, he also ran the engine for at least ten minutes filling the balcony with fumed, so we left.

"A great hotel with the best staff."
andyk0077, 26 Juin 2019

Ths has great. views of the Solent. I stay in a few Best Westerns with my work and the staff are always great. The Staff at New Holmwood are exceptional and can never do too much to help. We love this hotel and it is always a joy to stay. Lovely food and great carvery. Andy & Caron Keen

"Great pity no air conditioning"
midstar, 25 Juin 2019

Staff were superb. Hotel was tired and needs cosmetic attention. Room was pleasant but lack of air conditioning spoilt any sleep. Window only opened 15cm and fan was slow. View from window over roof was not great could be so much better with a bit of thought. There is also no lift so disabled husband really battled. Come on Best Western you can improve this property!

"Cant praise it enough"
Stuart G, 25 Juin 2019

Hotel situated in the perfect location, amazing sea views situated on a quiet road a stones throw from the water. the rooms where more than adequate if you are not expecting a slick modern hotel. The food at breakfast and dinner was amazing, served up by some of the nicest staff I have ever encountered. in fact everyone in the hotel never failed to acknowledge you with a smile on their faces.will certainly be visiting again.

"Two people reunited to celebrate 70 years of friendship"
Explore13544111401, 24 Juin 2019

We have both traveled the world over the last 70 years. Make no mistake this hotel was a revelation. Room 11 has the view to kill for and what stood out a mile was the genuine desire of all the staff to make our visit so enjoyable, they were not intrusive but you got the very comfortable feeling that they were always at hand. The " only freshly cooked " menu in the restaurant produced a meal on our final night that we both agreed was the best we have ever experienced. Thank you.

"Overpriced for what you receive"
W B, 24 Juin 2019

The rooms were clean, but quite outdated, with multiple different types of wallpaper on every wall AND ceiling. As there was no view from the window, and the room wasn't really all that nice, I felt like it was very much overpriced.

"Peaceful break by the sea."
Chelleolas, 19 Juin 2019

This was a lovely hotel with very friendly staff. On arrival there was a car park to the front small but adequate. Our room was up just 1 level of stairs. Lovely room plenty of space. Bathroom had bath with over power shower, very nice. There is a separate bar and a lovely room where you can sit and watch the activity in the sea. At dinner time staff come to you and you have the option of eating in the sit in room or in the dining room which I must add also is glass fronted to give the lovely views of the sea. Food here is outstanding and very reasonably priced. Theres also a lovely veranda where you can sit in the sunshine watching the yachts go by. The hotel manager was very nice and put himself out to get to know his guests. We was made to feel very welcome by all. We very much enjoyed our short stay at this hotel and look forward to returning In the near future.

"What a pleasure"
picman7096, 26 Mai 2019

What a wonderful 4 night stay my wife and I had. We would not find fault with any single thing in the hotel. Our room (11) was large, clean and had amazing views of the solent, We were fascinated watching all of the cruise ships and giant cargo boats and tankers so close to us. All of the staff were so friendly, professional and warm and welcoming. It really was a joy and a pleasure to stay there. The food was great, my wife and I are a little fussy, my wife is almost a vegan and I am not keen on spicy food. We ate dinner on the 4 nights of our stay and we both found enough very tasty dishes on the menu to not have to repeat anything or having to look for a local restaurant to get some variety. We genuinely could not fault a single thing about our stay. We will definitely be returning to The New Holmwood Hotel in the future and we will always try to find a Best Western Hotel in whatever area we are holidaying in.

"It's all about hotels with personality!"
Martin_Joan, 26 Mai 2019

The title is a direct quote from Best Western, the New Holmwood reflects that value perfectly. A short stay to link up with IoW cousins and have a bite to eat was turned into a memorable two days by the staff at the hotel. They really are amongst one of the best teams we have come across, pleasant, efficient and above all totally competent to give guests the best experience they can. We failed to identify any opportunities for improvement, reception, housekeeping, dining room and bar all providing exactly what is needed for their guests. The food is just right, sensible portions from a well balanced menu perfectly cooked and presented at its best. No hesitation in unreserved recommendation, we think a return visit is inevitable!

"An excellent hotel, outstanding in all respects"
bjh402, 25 Mai 2019

This hotel could not be faulted on our group visit recently. Also helped by fantastic sunny weather, calm seas & wonderful sunsets, this is an excellent hotel. All rooms were clean and bright, plenty of lounge sitting areas, food was excellent quality with great menu choices or your own preference made especially for you. All the staff were friendly, cheerful & nothing was too much trouble for them, all were eager to please. A lovely hotel.

"Comfortable hotel with a great esplanade location "
Nicholas H, 21 Mai 2019

Despite its upmarket reputation linked to the annual yachting regatta, the centre of Cowes is a rather depressing run down location, but head just a few hundred yards along the Egypt Esplanade and you find lovely properties, great views of the Solent and this pleasant hotel. Our room was a decent size, comfortable and spotlessly clean. There's plenty of lounge seating, a bar and an outdoor terrace overlooking the water. The breakfast experience is good - a limited but perfectly adequate cold buffet and hot dishes that can be ordered from a menu. Staff were friendly, efficient and very welcoming. A good experience at a hotel I would happily recommend to others.

"two nights on the Isle of Wight"
Robert M, 17 Mai 2019

This is a comfortable well positioned Hotel overlooking the sea within easy walking distance of Cowes where there are a good range of shops and restaurants. On a warm day one can sit on the outside patio enjoying the scenery and drinks from the bar. We thought it was particularly good value.

"Bob's 80th Birthday Bash!"
ROGGIE, 11 Mai 2019

We came here primarily to enjoy our friends"s 80th birthday celebrations, incorporating a short break at the same time. We were made to feel extremely welcome by Kathy and David and their hardworking team. The birthday luncheon was superb - a beautifully presented meal efficiently served by friendly staff in the delightful restaurant. It is fair to say our bedroom needed some updating but the bed was super comfortable. However, we spent little time in the room as the public areas and outside space were so relaxing with amazing views. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and highly recommend this hotel.

"Wonderful location"
sheilao14, 09 Mai 2019

Lovely well appointed hotel with amazing views of the Solent and sunsets. Within walkable distance of the Red Jet Ferry. Large comfortable bedroom with en suite bath and shower. The restaurant has a very nice menu. The staff were very helpful.

"Nice and cosy"
kentkitten, 03 Mai 2019

Stayed here for 2 nights nice and convenient only 15 minute walk into town. Although most shops shut at 4pm, but was saved by an M&S shop. Breakfast was good. Bottled water replaced in room. We had a sea view room, over the rooftops. Only problem was lots of stairs into hotel and stairs upto our room. We are both in our 60's.

"Fantastic hotel and location "
BryanPhil, 01 Mai 2019

This hotel is at a great location on Cowes beach. We had a sea view room that had a quaint small suite with a sofa, coffee table and TV. The room was of good size and with a comfortable bed. Tea and coffee available. The restaurant is very nice with good views and also offers a great menu. The staff and very friendly and welcoming. There is a great sea front walk to Cowes centre and Gurnard- both about 15 minutes walk. Highly recommended

"Isle of Wight delight!"
paulrholman, 01 Mai 2019

Took the out of season offer of 4 nights B&B with evening meal and car ferry included. The value was in the excellent staff and the quality of the food on offer. The hotel offers fantastic sea views from the sitting room and dining room. You are only 50mts from the beach and easy walking distance into Cowes. No problem parking. Breakfast is a help yourself continental, cereals etc. The full English cooked to order can be personalised to perfection. Difficult to concentrate on your food with a constant floatilla of boats, yachts and cruise ships sailing by. Evening menu was well thought out with plenty of choice. Overall we were very happy with this hotel, it is a little old fashioned in its decor but clean and friendly.

"Mrs gray"
denisegray2018, 30 Avril 2019

Everything was just amazing from the staff themselves to the food and rooms. all staff go above and beyond to make your stay the best they can. David and Cathy are two of the nicest people you could meet and nothing ever seams to be to much for them.

"Delightful Dinner"
Vectapeople, 08 Avril 2019

Four of us had an evening meal in the restaurant. From the start it was an enjoyable experience. We were warmly greeted, and seated in a comfortable lounge with our pre- dinner drinks while we chose from an excellent menu with a really good range of choices. The dining room atmosphere was relaxed, with plenty of space between tables. The table service was excellent as was the food. Afterwards we had coffee back in the lounge. Overall we had a super evening and will go again soon.

"Superb"
Ian B, 28 Mars 2019

Arrived for a 2 night business stay with my wife. Was greeted with the warmest welcome. We had the king size room which was lovely. We ate out first night but decided to try the restaurant the second. I wish we had chosen both nights in the restaurant. The food was absolutely gorgeous and plenty. The atmosphere in Holmwood is superb, they make you feel at home. I read one advisor say "it's like going to a family at Christmas" Totally agree. I will be coming back to IOW on business in the future as will my colleagues and I will make sure this is out first choice. Thank you for a lovely "family feel" stay.

"Absolutely lovely hotel."
Fearless26691106969, 14 Mars 2019

We stayed here for 3 nights. From the minute we stepped inside we felt so welcome and at ease.It has such a lovely atmosphere. The staff here are so friendly and helpful whilst still being professional and providing a very good service. We had a large room with a fabulous sea view, water and a mint chocolate were provided every day (nice touch) and it was kept spotlessly clean. We ate in the hotel restaurant each night and the food and service both in the evening and at breakfast were excellent. Great location, would highly recommend.

"Sneaky adventure"
nannytobe, 11 Mars 2019

We wanted to go to this part of Cowes and the hotel was in a perfect situation. We were very impressed at the warm welcome we received and I have to say the whole place was spotless especially our room,I couldn't get over the gleaming bathroom. If I'm honest the carpets were a little dated but I can imagine how expensive this would be to replace and again it was so clean and well looked after. We stayed at the hotel for our evening meal and it was absolutely delicious as was our breakfast. We are already thinking of going again hopefully in the better weather so the Ferry stays running!!All part of the adventure.

"Fantastic Christmas Break"
swhitney489, 13 Février 2019

From the minute we walked in the door it just felt like spending Christmas at a friends house, we stayed four nights over the festive period the food and service was amazing. All the staff are professional but also really friendly, the little touches gifts in the room lovely big box of Thornton's Chocolates, diary, umbrella very thoughtful. Baskets of chocs & nuts dotted about to help yourself to. Lovely little bar to relax in before & after dinner and they have Isle of Wight gin (:) They also welcomed our Scottish Terrier Norman who loved the welcome goodies in the room for him, the hotel really is doggy friendly he was allowed everywhere apart from the restaurant which was fine while we had dinner he had a little nap in our room before coming down to the bar for fuss from the staff and other guests. We loves it so much we booked in for this year as we left and are having a long weekend in May HIGHLY recommend a stay at the New Holmwood. Contact them direct to book and they will even get you a really good deal on the ferry which if you do yourself is REALLY expensive.

"Travels with our dog Millie"
goingwell, 02 Février 2019

Having your wedding anniversary in late January with a wife that now hates flying is a challenge. Our solution to is to travel with our Golden Retriever Millie. She has become an expert. The New Holmwood Hotel is by far our best experience. The half board is excellent and the food is the best by far of all the hotels we have used. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. Take our word its great. David Harding

"Lovely Hotel with AMAZING Staff"
DorsetAgaLady, 20 Janvier 2019

We stayed for 3 nights and ate dinner in the hotel twice. It was a lovely big double room with a fabulous sea view, the bathroom was good too. A corner bath (just my size!) with a shower over provided either a relaxing soak or a quick once-over! The room was comfortably warm and the radiators could be controlled easily - and the windows opened for a little fresh sea air if required. So nice to find a hotel room that doesn't cook you! The food and drinks are excellent, the 'Light Bites' are plenty for a really good supper! The a la carte and table d'hote menus also offer a good choice of well chosen meals. The staff ..... what can I say, helpful, polite, cheerful and willing to provide anything you need. They are an exceptional bunch (thanks guys, you were truly amazing!). But on the downside,.... wait, ....I'm trying to think ..... Oh yes, we had a chocolate mint on the first night but not thereafter (did we upset the chocolate mint fairy?) and the tissues were not replenished (shocking!). If we visit the IoW again we stay at this hotel without a second thought! Go, stay, you'll love it!

"A lovely New Years Eve event"
Ray M, 06 Janvier 2019

We were a party of 6 friends booked into the New Holmwood for a new years eve dinner dance. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome, this extended to pre dinner drinks and nibbles in the bar. We had time to chose from the 5 course dinner menu and were called through to the restaurant by group just ahead of the food bring served. The courses were well spaced out during the evening, the quality high, the wine options sensibly priced and good. In the morning the varied breakfast menu was all individually cooked and the hard working staff were still smiling! A lovely way to see the new year in!

"New year celebrations"
480lesleym, 04 Janvier 2019

Fantastic new year celebrations. Our party had spent the last 40 years celebrating new year together all over the uk. This was without doubt the best ever. Great food, great setting, amazing service, good value. Staff were amazing.

"We will be back!"
JoJonty, 29 Décembre 2018

We've stayed here many times over the years and have just spent a wonderful Christmas break at the hotel. The welcome here is so friendly and David and Kathy are just brilliant at making sure everything is spot on. The room was very clean and comfortable (huge king size bed) and we ate in the restaurant every night. Christmas Day dinner was superb. I've eaten in top London hotels but the beef served on Christmas Day has to be the best I've tasted - just delicious. Every single meal we've eaten was really nice - fresh, great flavours served beautifully. What makes this even better is that we could take our wee dug with us and he got as big a welcome as we did. All the staff are great from restaurant to reception and housekeeping. We will be back again next Christmas.

"Simply the Best!!"
JayS1506, 28 Décembre 2018

We have just returned from the New Holmwood after spending a wonderful Christmas. The Hotel is so well run by David who cannot do enough for his guests, together with his wife, Kathy who is amazing at organising the restaurant! We have not received better service in a 5 star hotel. We chose the Uffa Fox Suite, which is delightful with a pleasant sitting room - everything was spotlessly clean and the food was delicious - bear in mind a good walk is needed after each meal if possible!! We have every intention of returning in the not too distant future, we just wish this gem of a Hotel was on the mainland so that we could pop in regularly! Thank you David and Kathy - you really are amazing!!

"Anniversary Lunch"
judie70, 16 Décembre 2018

We were invited to a 50th Anniversary Lunch at this hotel. The weather was absolutely terrible, freezing rain, but our welcome was warm an inviting. We had a small private dinning room seating about 35 which was extremely well organised. The food was excellent, the beef wellington was superb. I must say I was surprised by the quality of the food and especially the service as sometimes chain hotels are not up to scratch. The hotel itself is rather tired and does need updating.

"Celebrating my 70th birthday"
151local, 06 Décembre 2018

The welcome, the service, the attentivensss and personal touch was excellent. Nothing was too much. Our suite was very comfortable and roomy with great views over the Solent. Excellent menu and food. Highly recommended.

"Great position and excellent staff and service"
iant462, 28 Octobre 2018

Good value. Encountered a few problems resolved very well by staff and management. Evening food excellent. Breakfast suprisingly different in standard both says excellent one day just OK the next. In summary, the staff will ensure you have the best possible time, which is priceless.

"A favourite place to stay"
Gillian4272, 21 Octobre 2018

This hotel has the most fabulous location at Egypt point overlooking the Solent. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, the rooms comfy clean and spacious and the food excellent. What more could you want?

"Turned out nice after all "
ColinHove, 05 Octobre 2018

We booked this hotel for a weekend break because of its location. Just across the road from the beach and promenade along which was a very pleasant 15 minute walk to the centre of Cowes. We were allocated a room on the ground floor at the rear of the hotel. There was a window letting in some light but it looked out on to an alley and a wall. Not quite what we were expecting so we spoke with the duty manager who was very nice but the hotel was full so a move wasn't possible. Resigned to the room we unpacked. The room although a little on the small side had everything you would expect and need for a short stay. The bar and reception area were good and in the evening the lounge at the front gave wonderful views whilst taking a final ‘night cap'! The restaurant and balcony also looked out over the sea with a glorious panorama of yachts and the coast line. We only had breakfast at the hotel and it was good with food being cooked to order. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Overall not too bad but avoid the rooms on the ground floor!

"Fantastic food and location"
Jane L, 21 Septembre 2018

Celebrated a birthday this evening fantastic location over looking the sea. Such a warm welcome on arrival and well looked after through to leaving by our host/waiter. He was amazing knew everything about the menu and wine selection. Food was exceptional compliments to the chef.will certainly visit again on our next visit to the Island.

"Brilliant all round Hotel"
Phillip S, 19 Septembre 2018

Stayed for a 9 night late summer break. From first arrival to departure staff were very good and service appears to be at the heart of this hotel. We opted for the Dinner Bed and Breakfast and so pleased we did. Breakfast is plentiful and well cooked and the evening meals are exceptionally good with a varied daily menu. The rooms were spacious, well presented and comfortable. The location offers fabulous views across the Solent from the bar, terraces and restaurant. Across the road is the promenade with a pleasant 15 minute walk into Cowes centre and harbour. A path walked many times as the hotel is dog friendly so perfect for walks with the dogs.

"Comfortable stay with warm welcome and great service"
macooper, 12 Septembre 2018

Great location a level 15 minute walk from downtown Cowes, literally seaside, but what makes this hotel special is the service from the staff. From the warm welcome on arrival until the take away breakfast waiting for us on our early morning departure, nothing was to much trouble for this committed, friendly and fun team. Breakfast and dinner were excellent too with the efficient and engaging restaurant manager who ensured no one was kept waiting. Yes the decor is dated but the hotel is spotlessly clean and pretty well maintained and the bedrooms comfortable with everything to hand. Definitely recommend a visit.

"Location Location Location"
Julian S, 12 Septembre 2018

It would be easy to be mean about some parts of this hotel. Dated, view of rusty fire escape, etc... However there are plenty more good things to say. The location is fabulous. Just far enough out of Cowes to be not too noisy and have good parking but close enough that a gentle 10 minutes walk gets you back to the heart of Cowes. Lovely terrace where you can enjoy a sundowner whilst watching the cruise ships leaving Southampton or the Yachts returning home. Price is very good. It also has a some kind of undefined quality that just makes it a comfortable place to stay.

"Perfect for a short summer break"
FinediningAmber, 11 Septembre 2018

We have just returned from a short, late summer break in the Isle of Wight. This hotel was perfect for our needs. The decor was a bit olde-worlde for my taste (something to bear in mind if like me you prefer glossy modern places). However, the rooms (we stayed in a suite) were clean and well maintained. The panaramic views of the coastline are spectacular. The stand out for me though was the excellent service provided by every member of a very hard-working staff. They were polite, engaging, friendly and super efficient; couldn't do enough for you. For that reason alone, they deserve an excellent score and I would be happy to return there.

"Good value, great location, friendly staff!"
Dean T, 10 Septembre 2018

The hotel is really charming, rooms are clean and well presented. Parking and breakfast is included in the room rate. There are modern touches such as USB ports and flat screen TV's, howerever, the decor is old fashioned and the beds could be more comfortable (perhaps this is where the hotel could invest in). All staff members that we had contact with, were welcoming, warm and sincere, left us with a very positive lasting impression. Highly recommend. Service - 5 Star Cleaninesss - 5 Star Rooms - 3 1/2 Stars

"Warmest welcome & fabulous view"
ellsbellscresdeebum, 03 Septembre 2018

Just returned from the New Holmwood hotel for a short mid week break with friends. From the cleaning lady to the waiting staff and reception team, they ALL made us feel very welcome and relaxed. Working long long hours, you'd think they'd be grumpy, but no - the staff are superb. The view from either the dining room or one of the terraces is stunning. Watching the ships pass by is so relaxing. The food was freshly prepared, and tasty. The sausages looked very nice on my husbands breakfast, but he never shares! True, the rooms are tired in decor (bit 80's in style) but then it's the IoW which is uniquely quaint. The floorboards were a bit creaky, but we got used to it. We will return soon - says a lot doesn't it?

"Very welcoming and dog friendly"
dianaStamford_12, 22 Août 2018

A lovely little dog friendly seaside beachfront hotel..with lovely staff who were so helpful and welcoming..relaxed atmosphere..delicious food..would have liked a sea view but room was fine..very big comfortable bed..my dog was a little poorly and needed special food..the chef prepared cold sliced turkey which she loved.. Would definitely stay again but would book a seaview suite..only 2 seaview rooms so need to be booked 6 months in advance !

"Tired but clean"
B A M, 21 Août 2018

We stayed recently for a family wedding nearby and this was a perfect place to stay within walking distance of the wedding venue. The staff were very welcoming and our room was clean although the decor was a little tired. Breakfast was freshly cooked and the buffet was stocked with fresh fruit, yoghurts, croissants etc. Nothing exciting but more that adequate for our needs.

"Lovely short break in lovely spot"
Kate W, 21 Août 2018

We have just had a two night B&B plus dinner break at this water's edge hotel with wonderful views over the Solent. It is in a peaceful setting on a wide esplanade, with a lovely terrace overlooking the view. The dining room shares the same view. There are quite a lot of steps up to the entrance but there is a ramp at the side for anyone who finds steps difficult. In addition to the great location, so is the food with a good choice menu which is freshly cooked, excellent staff and a huge and comfortable bed. This hotel is not "posh" but has high standards in everything. The staff are universely helpful and caring without being "oily" and make you feel really welcome and at home. We shall definitely be back. West Cowes is very nice and it is easy to access the west of the island from there.

"Wonderful April Wedding!"
greekfanatic09, 20 Août 2018

We stayed here for two nights to attend our Niece's wedding and it was a wonderful experience. The staff are all extremely friendly and welcoming, we phoned on the Friday morning to ask if we could possible have access to one of our rooms or store our luggage, we were told to head over and yo our delight when we arrived both our rooms were ready and available! Our evening dinner was served courteously and it was delicious. The setting, arrangements, food and service at the wedding were amazing ! Special big thanks to David Titley for being so organised, efficient and friendly- you were a big help to the "Aunt of The Bride"

"A hidden gem"
gurpreet2017, 17 Août 2018

Loved this place, located overlooking the seafront giving magical views. Free parking on site, greeted with a warm welcome. Cosy room with added little extras, fluffy towels, complimentary bottled water, dark chocolate mints, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, mini biscuits and a glass full of boiled sweets. A delightful restaurant overlooking the sea front ideal for lingering over food whatever time of the day. Delicious food in the evening and an extensive breakfast selection. Afternoon tea also on offer. Definitely would give this a 10 out of 10. Highly recommend.

"Beautiful trip!"
Phillysailer, 07 Août 2018

Beautiful place to stay.....views are amazing, staff is always very attentive and room was very clean and comfortable. It was convenient to the Parade and all the shops. Lovely walk along the waterfront.

"Amazing seafront hotel with views over the Solent"
daviescrew2017, 06 Août 2018

This lovely hotel and restaurant has a prime position on the Cowes seafront overlooking the Solent and only a few minutes walk away from Cowes high street with all the shops and sailing activities. You cannot get a better position for watching the racing during Cowes week form the dining room, lounge or the deck outside overlooking the beach. The staff are friendly and helpful and cannot do enough to make sure that your visit is a great experience. The food is excellent and extremely good value. We are regular visitors and every visit is a pleasure.

"Great hotel - fantastic location"
ashleygilroy66, 27 Juillet 2018

Very comfortable hotel - excellent location - great service & food - a hidden gem. Room well appointed with a fantastic sea views. Food was excellent - really enjoyed the cream tea overlooking the beach.

"Top class stay"
Fergus C, 26 Juillet 2018

Used this hotel for 1 night business stay and am extremely happy to recommend to others. Staff were very helpful, room excellent and food was first class. Very good location on seafront added to the enjoyment. Only downside was noise from either kitchen air con unit or generator but you could relocate room. Was in the Uffa Fox suite.

"Great location and great staff"
Gwen P, 23 Juillet 2018

The hotel is just by the sea and when you are out on the terrace with a drink it's the perfect view. The staff at the hotel are fantastic everyone to the receptionist, the cleaner, the staff in the restaurant made the visit enjoyable. Clean room although my only criticism is that the rooms are a bit out dated. Great for a couple nights stay

"VERY FRIENDLY STAFF"
Neil H, 15 Juillet 2018

We have been to this wonderful hotel a number of times over the years, the staff seem to be the same as we first went, always a friendly welcome, feels more like going to a family or friends business for a meal. I can't have any thing with strawberries which is a pain but they are always are happy to make sure I/we are happy, nothing is ever to much trouble. Also once we had our meal we can go out to sit in comfort to have our tea or coffee and look at the sea views. as we live on the Isle Of Wight it's wonderful to relax Neil Hollis & Ken Archer

"Wedding function"
darrenbyrne568, 04 Juillet 2018

My wife and I plus 2 friends stayed here for a wedding night. We have nothing but praise for all the staff that worked tirelessly throughout the daytime and night function. It is a fabulous hotel. The food was lovely, the rooms were great and the view from our room was amazing. We would certainly recommend it for either a function venue or simply when visiting the Island.

"Hotel with a stones throw view"
PaulandJoanne_10, 04 Juillet 2018

Booked this as a three night stay and booked two rooms, however one person could not come so cancelled one room without any fuss from the hotel. Am a BW Gold member so booked rate to suit me getting points. This hotel is but a few minutes drive from the ferry port in Cowes - as long as you go to the hotel via the chain-link ferry once off the main ferry, otherwise you have to go via Newport and it is a 25 minute drive as one has to go the long way round. We did the chain link ferry and it costs just £2.60p. The receptionist was most helpful in our booking in and providing us with map of island etc. We were in room 2, which is situated on the right of the building on ground floor level. The room was well presented, with an on-suite bathroom that was just perfect in all but one point, which I shall mention in a bit. The window overlooked the fence between the hotel and adjoining property and this was fine for it meant we were not overlooked or on a level where people could look in, so curtains could be left open. The bed was really comfy. The only point against the room was the towel warmer in the bathroom. This was permanently on and was not able to have switched off. i was concerned in that [A] my wife is disabled and I had to make sure she did not hold onto it to get in and out of the bath [B] one had to leave the door open all time to keep the heat in the bathroom down [C] one had to be careful not to touch it in error as once washed, dressed and did ablutions. It is a shame it cannot be turned on/off as required. Also as this was the time we had hot weather, 86F plus, the room was hot enough and the towel warmer just added to the heat. The hotel did provide decent fans to keep the rooms cooler thankfully they worked. We had use of the bar, breakfast and dined in the restaurant; all food was perfect and tasted nice. Service by the staff was top notch and they were ever so helpful. Dinner was priced really nicely so not to dear to eat here. Car park is at front of hotel and easy to get in and out. Hotel is situated a stones throw from the sea front (it really is a stones throw). All in all a really nice hotel and well worth the stay. Staff were all top notch and helpful.

"Simply wonderful "
chris h, 01 Juillet 2018

Having been a regular non resident customer for almost two years I couldn't wait to return almost two years later with my wife as a staying guest. We were not disappointed-attentive, professional and charming staff make this wonderfully appointed gem a spiritual home from home. From the manager down it is obvious there is so much pride taken by all to ensure everything is just right-be that the piping hot toast at breakfast or the high end evening meal. Please don't change! We look forward to our return in October.

"Excellent Hotel, Wonderful Staff, Great Location"
Jayaych14, 25 Juin 2018

I stayed here with 6 colleagues for 2 nights and I can say without any doubt, that's it's the BEST Best Western hotel that I've ever stayed in. The location, the rooms, the food and especially the staff were all brilliant. If you want somewhere to stay in Cowes, this is definitely the place for you. Don't hesitate, I'm not easily pleased but I was very happy with this hotel. Many thanks to all of the staff, you were very accommodating of our requirements and we really appreciated your efforts.

"Best Views on the Island"
BurnhamBert, 24 Juin 2018

The New Holmwood is, thank goodness, still providing great service, lovely food and comfortable rooms. Egypt Point is a wonderful place to spend a few days. Easy walking into West Cowes and the endlessly fascinating views of ships and boats provide a really restful and interesting break. Staff are excellent - both efficient and helpful. Rooms are clean well furnished and provide a useful ceiling fan for those warm nights. The hotel food is surprising good - there's no need to go looking for restaurants (although there are plenty locally) - portions are generous and the dining room has great views over The Solent, as does the lounge. On-sire free parking was available but the marking out of the spaces is rather tight. Treat yourself!

"What a surprise "
Lee M, 21 Juin 2018

Stayed this week with 7 colleagues, used meeting facilities and stayed for 2 nights and I was really surprised with how good the hotel was, it being on the water front was a great plus as well. Nothing was to much trouble, we changed our plans a couple of times and nothing was to much trouble, all the staff were fantastic and made our visit very pleasurable. The room I stayed in was very clean and comfortable, I think the mattress could do with replacing though. We only had breakfast at the hotel but there was plenty to chose from and all was very fresh and well cooked. I was that impressed with the hotel and it's location I have come back and booked a 2 night trip for my wife and I later in the year. If in any doubt don't be it's a great hotel

"Best hotel in cowes"
Fee1954, 18 Juin 2018

"5 day break"
shopland, 03 Juin 2018

Came back last week from Cowes staying at this lovely hotel. Although the room was quite small for 2 people it was clean and comfortable. Towels changed every day.Hotel staff were lovely, very helpful and polite.Food was amazing, plenty of choice not only evening meal but breakfast too. Would definately return

"Nicely located on the coast, pleasant hotel"
psf1, 28 Mai 2018

Very nice room with many amenities. Friendly but busy staff. Relaxing high-end restaurant with tasty but unremarkable food and wine. Spinach and cheese tarts were good, also for dessert, the hazelnut meringue and the date pudding.

"4 night break"
75diane, 26 Mai 2018

What a lovely hotel, good location. Went for a 4 night coach trip. Very clean and very helpful staff. The food was out of this world. A big thank you to the staff for making it an enjoyable stay. Would definitely go back

"Excellent"
bettybrett7, 26 Mai 2018

Just returned from a 5 day break at this hotel which was excellent from start to finish. Room was very comfortable, food was delicious a very good choice either for breakfast or dinner. All the staff are so helpful polite smart and very obliging. Bottled water replenished every day in your room. A must to return to.

"Vision Getaways 'Treasures of the Isle of Wight' & we struck GOLD!!!!"
bigships, 26 Mai 2018

I run a small holiday Company called Vision Getaways providing the over 50's with coach short breaks. We have just returned from a Mon to Fri break at the New Holmwood. I had a good feeling about this hotel as the booking process was very smooth and friendly. However when we arrived we were completely blown away, this Hotel far surpasses it's three star rating. The rooms are excellent, public areas super and the location is one of the best on the island. The Food is absolutely superb the chef and his team really need to be congratulated. breakfast was wonderful and each evening Dinner was something to really look forward to. All my guests loved it with no exception. The best part of the Hotel was the staff, a well oiled machine if ever I have seen one. All staff are helpful friendly and always seem interested in what you are planning to do with your day. I cannot thank everyone, and I mean everyone, for a fantastic stay. I have another break booked for September this year and can't wait and as a result of the experience I have just had I have booked again for next year and definitely beyond. If there are negative comment here on TA ignore them this is a fantastic Hotel and one of the Isle of Wight's best kept secrets!! BOOK NOW!!!

"An Island gem!"
Marie B, 19 Mai 2018

Stayed here for 2 nights and was so delighted with the whole ambience and quality of this hotel. It looks dated from the front of the building but the room was modern and the provided amenities were lovely and homely. Menu choices were very good with a changed menu each night, and priced well. The view from the restaurant was to die for with sea front location allowing you to look across Southampton water and see all the comings and goings of a myriad of ships. Our room was a rear facing room so no view but the back of other houses, but not really a problem. However the staff here are the icing on the cake. They were all so friendly and helpful, whether choosing a wine, finding the best walk into Cowes or just greeting you at any opportunity. We will definitely go back.

"Lovely 3 night break"
Peter D, 12 Mai 2018

Bathroom could have some much needed attention , clean but peeling paint on door & grout on tiles needs some work.merits a 2. Hotel has many steps & fire doors so not ideal if you have any physical difficulties but staff happy to help. Plenty of room in bedroom & well serviced & cleaned. Food at breakfast & dinner very good & merits a 4 +. Above all the staff rate a 5 + ,all smiling helpful & friendly.

"Very well placed lovely hotel"
judithterry, 07 Mai 2018

We were visiting islanders and On arrival at the hotel we were well impressed by the location, and we were not disappointed by the interior too. Great room on ground floor, great breakfast and very nice staff. We will be back

"Short Break on the Isle of Wight"
John M, 25 Avril 2018

We stayed at the New Holmwood for 3 nights while taking a short break on the Isle of Wight. Excellent location for visiting the attractions of the IoW. Good views of the Solent from the terrace at the front of the hotel and if the weather is not suitable the lounge and dining room also have these views. Very comfortable room with all the usual facilities. excellent breakfasts - a combination of help your self buffet and freshly cooked options. Excellent menu in the evenings for dinner. Staff very attentive and helpful without being intrusive. There isn't a lift but the very helpful staff are only to ready to help with luggage etc.The outward old-looking and hotch-potch appearance of the building belies the quality of service and comfort inside. Car-parking is a bit limited and tight but we had no problem finding a space on arrival and on return from sight-seeing trips. Highly recommended as one of the best affordable hotels on the island.

"Wedding weekend "
Carrie S, 09 Avril 2018

Stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding. On arriving the staff couldn't do enough for us. We were personally shown to our room which was big & spotlessly clean. Little things in the room made a difference like a glass with boiled sweets in & a basket in the bathroom with a shoe shine kit & sewing kit. On the day of the wedding 1 man in particular didn't stop all day & was so helpful (sorry I can't remember his name) The location of this hotel is breath taking. It's just a shame the rooms don't take advantage of this but the communal areas do. The hotel through out was very clean & is the staff were wonderful!! Can't wait to return.

"3 night stay on business "
10ElaineRW, 29 Mars 2018

An old hotel but room was clean. Nice flat screen hotel with toiletries and decent Wi-Fi. Good range of food at breakfast and right on the seafront. About a 10 minute walk to the centre of Cowes so a good location. Friendly and helpful staff. Would stay again

"So comfortable"
happy70_11, 24 Mars 2018

The location and the staff make this hotel a really nice place to stay. Most of the staff in this hotel could teach the rest of the hospitality business how it should be done. A wonderful, much needed one night stay, all too short. A big thank you. Clean, comfortable room wonderful bed, hospitality tray and toiletries little extras as well. Good breakfast choice and dinner in spite of the Hotel hosting quite big parties it was peaceful and quiet Thank you we will be back hopefully for a little longer.

"Anniversary "
nickbolton56, 21 Mars 2018

We stayed for a couple of days to have a bit of time together. We pre paid bed breakfast and evening meal in a deluxe sea view room. The bed could have been better but the room was nice enough. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and professional. Altogether a great place to stay. Even though we live local,I'm sure we will return.

"Lovely hotel"
khawkes2016, 22 Février 2018

We recently stayed at this Best Western on the Isle of Wight. The hotel is right on the beach within easy walking access to Cowes. It is a lovely hotel with really good rooms. We were met by friendly accommodating staff who took us to our rooms insisting on helping us with our baggage which was great as I had my elderly parents with us. The could truly not do enough for you. We were called the day before to let us know that there would be a party taking place on the night we intended to stay which I thought was a really nice touch. As it was the party did not affect us in the slightest. The rooms are clean and well decorated. My parents had a deluxe double with a sea view which is worth that bit extra. My only reason for not giving this hotel a 5 rating was that when we had our evening meal at the hotel (which by the way is good value at £24.00 for three courses), my son ordered muscles and almost half of them could not be eaten due to them being closed. The matter was dealt with swiftly, we were offered more but we didn't fancy them and the money was knocked off the bill. I just couldn't understand why they would have been sent out like that. However, this being the only fly in the ointment we would stay there again and would highly recommend it as a great find and a comfortable friendly stay

"6 weeks stay with my new hotel family "
davedebs11, 14 Février 2018

I stayed here for 6 weeks I'm Quite fussy if I'm honest ... it's like Home at the new holmwood ... the staff on the front desk Cheryl Julian Claire and Emma ... bar and restaurant staff scotty Adam Dani kyra matt cannot do enough for us. They understand we're here for so long and we need Home from Home ... We work Dogs for a living and one of them was ill - I bought some pasta . Terry the chef cooked it he was more worried it would over cook in the container I have to put it in than anything - needless to say I explained it was for a dog ?? We were able to use the function room for extra training for the dogs .. this hotel really helped us all out so much so that any dog handler that attends the island now only goes to this hotel .. I was taken ill one night I needed some sympathy tomatoe soup- no problem Kathy and Dave the managers made it clear from the start - if you don't ask you don't get so please ask .. Thank you so much Room 9 xx

"Superb hotel "
Seedsower, 23 Janvier 2018

Had a few very relaxing days. Brilliant staff and a perfect location for us. Easy walk into Cowes ( less than a mile) very good views over the Solent and very good food. I can recommend the crab sandwich and Sunday lunch. Dogs very welcome and provided with a bag of biscuits on check in.

"Friendly atmosphere, great staff."
marknewman454, 23 Janvier 2018

Winter break - good value with lovely warm room. Very well looked after from the moment you walk in. Good food. Super views over the Solent and a good viewing point for the Cruise Ships leaving on their travels too.

"4 Weeks in the New Holmwood"
Mandy P, 29 Décembre 2017

I was recommended the New Holmwood by colleagues already staying there for the long haul. I was on the Isle of Wight for a 4 week training course and the staff at the New Holmwood hotel were fabulous. Knowing that we were there for a month the staff could do no more for us and their flexibility supported myself and my colleagues no end. The rooms were clean and well equipped. The bar and restaurant were staffed by welcoming people genuinely happy to help. The food was of great quality I can personally recommend the Moroccan Meatballs and the poached eggs for breakfast. Location, the hotel was right of the water and only a short walk from Cowes where there is a wide range of bars and restaurants. I hope you enjoy your stay just as much as we did.

"Extremely well run"
JAC1204, 18 Décembre 2017

I have been staying here during the year on my visits to the Island. Never been disappointed, staff are brilliant and everything as it should be - clean and tidy. You can't go wrong staying here. A lovely walk to Cowes to get an appetite!

"Beautiful stay"
noradem, 16 Décembre 2017

We have spent 1 night celebrating my partners 65th birthday and can honestly say the service and food is probably THE best we have experienced on any hotel stay in the UK. The chef must be congratulated for the beautiful meal we have just had especially considering that the hotel is packed with Christmas parties. Thank you chef You are amazing. All the staff should receive a big pat on the back for making us so welcome even a lovely birthday card waiting on our table. We will DEFINITELY be back and recommend highly. Huge comfy bed, spotlessly clean room. Brilliant stay

"cant believe i payed to stay here!!"
14oharris, 21 Novembre 2017

i first enter and turn to my left to find a fat poo stain on the wall. i then enter the toilet to see a catastrophe of vomit in the toilet and a fat bird poo on the window. i then complain to the staff and they told me to do one.

"Surprising good"
Janice D, 19 Novembre 2017

If this review was based on contemporary design and modern features I would give it a 3. Based on the quality of food and attentive staff it deserves a 5. So I settled on a 4. Please remember this is on the isle of eight which somehow seems to have got stuck in a time warp from the mainland. Good points: Sea views, it's on the seafront. Plenty of car parking spaces (free for residents). My room had a bath and a shower. Free bottled water provided in room. Sumptuous thick cotten bed linen. Super friendly and attentive staff. Improvement opportunities: no air on in room only ceiling fan. Dated decor. No early breakfast - only starts from 7:30am and I had a 8am meeting elsewhere. Wall mounted hairdryer with limited flex length made drying my hair tricky. Overall, I was pleased and would go back for the lovely food alone. Think the restaurants open to non residents too.

"Nice but dated in areas."
Matthew W, 18 Novembre 2017

Arrived at the Hotel having had it booked for me while on the island on business. I had no expectations but I was pleasantly surprised. Let's start with the good bits. It was quiet. But that may have been due to the amount of guests... The location was great in west Cowes. The proximity to the 'beach' was nice. The staff are friendly. The food is decent. (I had dinner and English breakfast). The WiFi was good and I was getting 30mbps at the back of the hotel. Rooms are spacious. Everything was clean. Now some not so good things... The TV was tiny. The bed felt like it was about to fall apart and the mattress wasn't much better. The door catch on room 24 (my room) rattled if a mouse farted or someone sneezed a mile away. If you like 1980's avacardo bathrooms. These room types are for you. (That is being fussy, cause everything worked and was clean). There are no plugs next to your night stands. Meaning I had to charge devices on the desk 6ft away. (That isn't being fussy, that's plain annoying) Hot breakfast doesn't start until 7.15ish apparently so if you have an early meeting you may be late. (I was). Overall, when I come back to the island. I will be staying there as it was quiet and after a 20hr day of travelling and work. It did the job just fine. On speaking with colleagues who stayed at other establishments. It sounds like I lucked out and had the good deal.

"Adorable hotel with great staff"
236meggyb, 09 Novembre 2017

I can't praise the staff at this hotel enough. Friendly, helpful, genuine, the list goes on. The breakfast was delicious with the restaurant having an absolutely gorgeous view of the water. I will definitely be back!

"Wonderful Staff"
Bill G, 07 Novembre 2017

I've stayed here on work related business on nine different occasions over the last six months and could not fault the staff who work here at all. Extremely friendly, knowledgeable and really helpful. The food in the restaurant is excellent whether Table D'hotre or bar menu. The view from the balcony in summer in the evening sunset is worth the money alone. The rooms are a little dated and could do with a decoration upgrade but just a minor point when compared to how well you get looked after. One of the best.

"Dog Friendly"
Steve H, 06 Novembre 2017

Good food,Good rooms, a little bit frayed at the edges but great hotel in a very good location. We arrived with our dog who was very welcome. The only place we could not take the dog was the dining room, so we were served breakfast in the sun lounge next door.

"Great dinners"
David K, 01 Novembre 2017

I stayed three nights at the New Holmwood Hotel several weeks ago. The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. The location was very convienent to Cowes. The dinners were excellent. To my surprise. the dinners were served silver service style, which is a rare treat today. I ended up having dinner there every evening.

"Our first staying visit"
Brian W, 31 Octobre 2017

We booked this break on the strength of a visit in passing for coffee earlier in the year. All the locals were piling in for lunch and on the basis of "what's good enough for the locals is good enough for us" we booked a long weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. All Hotels in the Best Western group should send their staff to the "New Holmwood" to see how a hotel should be run. Right from "check-in" to "check-out" everything was just fine. The evening meals were outstanding. All of the staff made us and I'm sure all the guests feel extra-special. We look forward to our next visit before too long.

"Friendly employees, nice rooms"
Undutchable30, 26 Octobre 2017

The hotel is just opposite the beach and has free parking places. The hotel is a bit old and therefore noisy due to the wooden floors. Rooms are clean and the upgrade to the uppa fox suite was a nice surprise. Water, chocolates sweets in the room. Need was good and breakfast complete.

"Short stay on the Isle of Wight"
HappyofHillHead, 16 Octobre 2017

2 night stay last week. Great location right on the seafront - dining room overlooks the Solent. Good menu and excellent food. Helpful and extremely pleasant staff. Room was very good. Parking available in front of the hotel. Can thoroughly recommend this hotel and I would be happy to stay there again. Only slight downside being lack of 4G mobile signal. However the young lady on reception suggested I switch to 2G which is what I did and secured a connection. I am grateful for that tip!

"A great place to stay"
Stephen C, 10 Octobre 2017

The views from the restaurant and the lounge are wonderful, there is always something moving on the water. We had a room with a sea view which allowed us to watch the shipping and the sailing boats without going downstairs.

"Sad to leave despite the weather!"
Libby W, 09 Septembre 2017

My husband & i plus our dog Buzz have just returned from a three night stay at this wonderful hotel. We stayed in room 9 which was ideal for us as we had our own access to outside. We had 2 dinners in the bar area both very good, plus we had our breakfasts there in the morning.... the table each morning set up ready. What made this hotel so special is the service provided by all the lovely staff...we will be back

"Best location "
Coreyking, 04 Septembre 2017

We stayed here for three nights while visiting family on the Isle of Wight and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was excellent and the food was good. They were very accomodating regarding mum's mobility scooter and nothing was too much trouble. Although an old hotel, it was clean and comfortable and well kept. Excellent ocean views from the dining room made for an awesome dining experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here in a heartbeat while visiting the Isle of Wight. Customer service was brilliant.

"A piece of heaven on earth"
johnbeard2017, 30 Août 2017

My wife and I had a 5 day break and we were greeted at the hotel by a smiling, helpful and very pleasant staff. The staff could not do enough for the guests and not just us, they went that extra mile for all the guests ordering taxis , getting ship and tide times, a really excellent service. The hotel location is superb, commanding excellent views and is easy walking distance to Cowes town center. The hotel was nice and bright, well decorated and very comfortable. The restaurant had superb views over the sea and the food was excellent. A really good full English breakfast and an extraordinary evening meal with fresh vegetables cooked to perfection. This hotel is in a class of its own and great value for money. I would have paid more if they had asked.

"Great Hotel , wonderful atmosphere and the best Staff ."
Robert B, 28 Août 2017

We found this hotel because of our love of ships and Cruising . We are Cunarders and sail from Southampton a lot . I was checking for web cams and found their's . Just type in Best Western Cowes webcam and check it out . This is the view from the Terrace and Dining Room and sea view rooms , fabulous . Sit in the evening and watch the armada sail by . I wont waste time telling you about the hotel just read the sensible reviews . There was a wedding on the Friday and we where warned at the time of booking but it did not impinge on our stay in any way . We never found any indifference from any member of staff at any time . Just a mention for the chef , the food was top notch . Would go again in an instant .

"Great hotel-brilliant location"
Helen B, 24 Août 2017

We have just returned home from our stay at this hotel, staff lovely, breakfast brilliant & great location. Room excellent very clean and with a side sea view! We stayed for a week as came originally for my nephews wedding at the hotel, which incidentally, was also lovely and very well organised by the hotel with many guests commenting how great it was, the food was exceptional. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will miss the lovely walk into Cowes, and the free parking was also an added bonus!

"Friendly hotel with Fantastic Staff!"
Ukfetchfan, 20 Août 2017

We booked to stay recently for three nights. On arrival both us and our dog were greeted in a very friendly manner- with an upgraded room for us and a bag of treats for the dog! We have stayed at this hotel before and will definitely stay again. The Staff are just so friendly and helpful- whatever your problem or issue. We needed a vet urgently so Reception Staff suggested a Practise to go to, gave us a phone number for and then gave us directions to. When we returned they were keen to find out how the dog had got on, The restaurant food is excellent, as is breakfast. If you are a Pet owner Staff lay up a table for you in an adjacent room to the Restaurant so that your Pet can accompany you. Great location right on the sea front with an easy stroll into Cowes. There is a large park nearby for dog walking or you can walk them along the seafront- but in Summer they are not allowed on the Cowes beaches.

"Never again"
raggedjon55, 18 Août 2017

I am a professional coach driver and had the misfortune of being put in this 'hotel' for 3 nights with a group. I was in room Number 1, right by the toilets the kitchen and a main thoroughfare to the rest of the hotel. Really noisy and not conducive to a relaxing night sleep before having to go out the next day and drive all day with passengers. On top of that there was a wedding party on Friday night with loud music. When I approached a member of staff, he was indifferent and unapologetic. I would have thought that being a hotel the duty of care is that residents get a peaceful nights sleep instead of having to endure loud music, slamming doors and indifferent staff. This is not a hotel in the true sense of the meaning.

"Work visit"
Vaughan459, 09 Août 2017

Good staff that are friendly and helpful. Room clean & tidy but bathroom is old style but fine. Food very good and presented well. A little wait but nothing major. Car park fine but small you can park over the road

"Great place on the Island"
jamesbP4201CB, 07 Août 2017

Very friendly staff, clean accommodation. Helpful at all times during my stay, good WiFi. We needed to rush for the ferry and we were given bacon rolls to take with us as we had no time to sit down for breakfast, top service!!

"The best Hotel we have ever stayed in - thanks to the staff."
Dormouse39, 06 Août 2017

Booked a weeks holiday here and drove from home via the Wightlink Ferry (another Review) It is situated on the seafront road with magnificent views out across the Solent towards Southampton. The stony beach is next to the road. We parked in the hotel's car park in front of the hotel and took our luggage inside. We were greeted by Julian, a very pleasant chap - a credit to the hotel. We booked in and he helped with our luggage to the room on the first floor. Room 21 very pleasant with the side view of the Solent. The room was very pleasant indeed, spotlessly clean and very well equipped with all the things you need of a weeks stay. The bathroom too was shining. We were extremely pleased indeed. The whole hotel was spotless and staff were always about doing little jobs from reception to the bar. The bar was really comfortable as was the lounge which looked out over the Solent. From the lounge was the terrace with chairs and tables of very good quality. Sleep at night was brilliant with very comfortable beds. The restaurant overlooked the Solent and breakfast was interrupted by the large ships passing just off the beach on their way into Southampton Water. Large high decked passenger ships; large freighters carrying containers and the ships that carried fuel for ships out to sea. Breakfast was ordered and cooked fresh whilst you had your cornflakes or whatever. Breakfast was delicious served by such lovely staff. We also ate here some evenings and the choice of meals was so good the restaurant was always full. We spent seven days here and were sad to leave which means we must go back. David (the boss) and his wife worked very hard to make this hotel the very best on the Isle of Wight.

"Booked Again Already!!!"
Royston_Yvie, 04 Août 2017

This was our third stay here and met up again people staying for their 16th year in a row!!Says it all.Very friendly hotel just a few minutes walk from Cowes High Street with the sea just across the road.Views of the yacht racing from the terrace. The staff are all so welcoming.Lovely restaurant with plenty of fresh seafood.

"Very pleasant short break"
Lisa S, 30 Juillet 2017

We have never stayed at a Best Western hotel, and would not have done so on this occasion had a booking elsewhere on the island not fallen through (that's another story), but we are glad we stayed at the New Holmwood and would do so again. The location is enthralling, with expansive vistas from the dining room overlooking the Solent with ever-changing sky and seascapes, and within walking distance of West Cowes town centre. The staff are friendly, professional, and helpful, and the standard was set when we arrived, welcome after a long and tiring journey. The room was comfortable with the requisite facilities and a king-size bed and quiet ceiling fan, serviced each morning with fresh towels provided, and provisions to make hot beverages and locally-sourced bottled water and sweets being replenished each time. Compliments to the chef too – the cooked breakfasts were delicious, and a buffet offering a selection of cereals, pastries, fruits, juices, and yoghurts catered for a range of tastes. The lounge is light, airy, tastefully decorated, and has comfortable sofas, and on the Sunday afternoon when the heavens opened curtailing outdoor activities, we spent a couple of hours in there relaxing and reading the papers and had afternoon tea. We chose this hotel as it is dog-friendly, and we were allocated room 9 which has a door leading to the side of the building then the esplanade beyond, which was handy as it avoided having to traipse through the hotel to take our dog for a walk (please note – signs alongside the esplanade state that dogs are not allowed on certain sections of the beach at certain times). Our experience was that the dogs were well behaved, which is more than can be said for the guest staying above us who decided to play music in the early hours of Monday morning, but hotels can't be blamed for the selfishness of their guests. Although now part of a chain, the hotel is neither corporate nor impersonal , and having been built in the late 1800s it has both an interesting history and unique charm, though this in itself brings challenges to meet modern standards – the décor of the corridors leading to our room on the ground floor are a little reminiscent of a care home, the plumbing made a noise for a short duration possibly when taps were turned on, and twice the fire alarm went off when guests did not shut their bathroom doors causing steam to trigger the sensors.. However, we would definitely recommend the New Holmwood, and look forward to returning.

"A Four Could Be Five"
CDM49, 29 Juillet 2017

Very nice romantic hotel on the water front. Beautiful views, courteous staff that went out of the way to help. Room clean and decent size. Only issue was the bed, mattress was old and worn needed to be replaced. Free WIFI worked ok. Restaurant good menu, atmosphere, and service. Continental breakfast was more than enough. Limited free parking was available in front. This is a very relaxing place to stay and we we most definitely go back.

"Most enjoyable"
Christine G, 27 Juillet 2017

Staff, service and food all excellent. Views from the restaurant and bar lounge are extremely good and those from our room were good too as we were able to see several cruise liners departing from Southampton and from Cowes, there were loads of yacht races. Having to use a mobility scooter, the staff were very accommodating in providing recharging points each time it was necessary. The only problem I had was negotiating the inside staircase as there is no lift, but we were informed of this when booking. Outside there is a ramp which I was able drive up on the scooter to a side entrance where it was taken in for charging. The hotel is in an excellent location for getting around the island and we covered most of it during our 2 week stay. We were always able to park in front of the hotel and I hope, health permitting, that we may be able to visit again.

"Evening dinner with friend for a birthday treat"
Joypb, 27 Juillet 2017

Booked for 7.30 pm. Only three other tables used in the dining room. Although called through then had to wait some time for the starter, which was lovely. Main meals excellent apart from one of the vegetables which were so hard could not even cut it. No-one came and asked if everything satisfactory until we had finished the meal. When then told the answer was "oh well you have eaten everything else"! Dessert was excellent but long wait as "Chef having difficulty getting it to set just right" Also and my main complaint is that at 8o'clock the staff started clearing all the tables and setting them up for breakfast which altered the atmosphere in the room and, in my opinion, was quite inappropriate. You almost felt you should not still be eating dinner. So not good.

"Delightful hotel in fascinating situation"
362terry, 23 Juillet 2017

Had lunched at this hotel before but enjoyed a weekend stay even more.Excellent food, pleasant staff, comfortable rooms and a panorama of shipping to watch. Can't wait to come back.Breakfast menu the equal of QE2!

"Charming"
Arobajase, 21 Juillet 2017

Hotel is in a brilliant location with views over the Solent and right across from the waters edge on the outskirts of Cowes You walk in and find staff that were unfailingly friendly and efficient The rooms are a bit dated but scrupulously clean and filled with 'little touches'. The ceiling fan was perfect for a stuffy evening The breakfast was amazing quality too Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the island

"What a view!"
tinasL6210CV, 10 Juillet 2017

What I can say is that whilst the decor is a little tired, the staff, service and the breakfast more than compensated. I felt looked after and all my requests were met with friendly responses and positive action. The staff and the location of the hotel influenced my score. Very clean and comfortable hotel as well.

"A Beautiful Hotel In A Stunning Location"
chrisbgas79, 10 Juillet 2017

We stayed here recently after a friends wedding reception. The hotel is set in an beautiful location overlooking the Solent and made for perfect backdrop for wedding photos. The hotel staff are all very attentive and helpful and as I was best man at the wedding I cannot complement them enough for their help and assistance on the day, special thanks go to David, the wedding planner/coordinator who helped me throughout the day and guided me in the right direction with my speech, announcements etc. The rooms are lovely with many having lovely sea views. They are also spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The facilities include: tea/coffee making facilities, iron, wardrobe, phone, Television, full en-suite with toiletries, dressing table etc. Food is of a very good standard and is very tasty and reasonably priced as are the drinks on offer. There are outside seating areas which are perfect for sitting and admiring the views over the Solent whilst enjoying a drink or doing a spot of ship spotting. Breakfast is also very good and the cooked breakfast is excellent and very tasty. There is free parking on site but this is limited, however there is ample parking along the road on the sea front anyway so this does not cause an issue. We loved our stay at New Holmwood and certainly will return in the future as we plan to visit the Island much more now our friends live there. I can safely say I highly recommend this hotel.

"Has To Be Five!"
davesouthamptonqpr, 09 Juillet 2017

We all make mistakes and I love it when an establishment will admit an error and go the extra mile to remedy it. When we checked in we were told that we should have been warned that there was a wedding at the hotel that day and that the reception would go on till midnight and that they were concerned that the noise would prevent us sleeping. They offered us initially a drink to compensate. When however we claimed our drink that evening they apologised again AND gave us a substantial rebate on our booking. Our room was excellent with a gorgeous view. Breakfast was wonderful and the waiter took our drinks out to the terrace for us when we'd finished eating. My only comment would be that on a hot weekend the towel rail in the bathroom was churning out heat and we couldn't turn it off. That made the room even hotter. All staff were helpful. Claire was particularly lovely. Highly recommended

"Just so Right"
Lotus19, 08 Juillet 2017

This is without any doubt the best hotel we have stayed in for years. The position overlooking the Solent is fantastic, there is always something to see. The rooms are spotless and well equipped they even have a trouser press. Bathrooms are not brand new but clean and have everything you need. Sweets and still water topped up every day. Quality towels changed regularly, quality bed linen with a queen sized bed in our room and comfy pillows. Although there is no air conditioning the room had an almost silent ceiling fan with cool breeze of air. The main reason the hotel thrives is its staff, they actually enjoy their jobs and seek to make you as comfortable as possible. Professional but fun! This extends to the chef who has to be congratulated the food is fantastic, 3 choices of menu with flexibility between all and responsive to individual requests. This is food cooked fresh from local ingredients, to order not pre-prepared 'boil in the bag'. During our stay there were two weddings and a large Rotary meeting but we were not disturbed or affected in any way by the arrangements it seems like effortless organisation.

"Great 2 day break"
shirle w, 08 Juillet 2017

The location of this hotel is superb; right on the waters edge. It was sunny and having a drink on the terrace watching the boat sailing by made us feel like we were in the south of France! Every single member of staff were amazing and could not do enough to assist and make you feel welcome. We booked Dinner Bed & Breakfast and so glad we did. The food was very good indeed and such good value. Yes, the bathroom was a little dated but with everything else being so good, who worries about the bathroom! We had a wonderful two days and would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody visiting IOW.

"Great 4 day break"
SBNE2015, 22 Juin 2017

This was our first break away in 4 years. But it was well worth the visit. The food excellent. the staff friendly. They all made a fuss of our pet. As we had our dog we were not allowed to eat in the restaurant, but staff made a table up in the lounge which overlooked the sea and shipping route into and out of Southampton, which added to the lovely view, seeing the cruise liners and shipping going in and out of the Port. The only negative comment was we were in the disabled room. The shower cubicle a little cramped and in need of updating possibly to a wet room. The small bedroom window leaked and signs of damp around the window. There was no view at all from the window except onto a back yard. However this was not typical of all rooms as our cousins room looked as though it had been recently decorated and more modern. She had a room on the first floor overlooking the sea. Unfortunately this Hotel does not have a lift, therefore room choice for disabled people is very limited. This would not stop us visiting this hotel again. I could have sat in the lounge just watching the world go by. There were a couple of steps down to the lounge that overlooked the sea. But there were other seats on the higher level. Also you could sit outside on nice evenings.

"Lovely staff, hotel decor being worked on"
dougal100, 21 Juin 2017

We have never been to the isle of wight before and hoped that all island people are as kind and friendly as the staff here. We have stayed at a few best westerns for which old buildings as standard. Although the floors are squeaky and I found myself sleeping on a mattress with a dip in it. Overall the hotel is starting to be updated. We had dogs so they put us in a ground floor room with a patio door which lead to the front, so it was easy to take the dogs in and out. They set us up for breakfast in the lounge, where we had breakfast with our dogs. Anything they could do to help or that you needed they got. Today many business change staff constantly. Many staff have been here for over a decade, showing they like their work and get on well as a team. It was lovely to see the managers "mucking" in. Any problems this hotel has are outweighed by the good food and friendly staff. However they could do with some new mattresses, sun loungers, quiet signs up for careless guests returning late at night, new hovers as they must be rubbish as things were on my floor my whole stay and better mannered gardeners but we will be staying here again soon.

"Wonderful Service "
Jonny5-s, 13 Juin 2017

Like many Best Western hotel the rooms are a little dated. However don't let this put you off. The amenities in the room along with a super comfy bed are way ahead of many other chain hotels. The service is first class along with the standard of food in the restaurant. Location and view could not be better. Would I return? Absolutely.

"Incredible service "
Lucyhitchenor, 12 Juin 2017

Perfect stay! Such a lovely team of people work at the hotel! Due to it being festival season there weren't any cabs available, so the very kind hotel manager gave us a lift to the port! Such a friendly and helpful team! Would highly recommend the hotel!

"Lunch for a walking group."
Greta C, 23 Mai 2017

Twenty three of us meet for lunch at this charming hotel last Friday, we were blessed with a beautiful sunny day. The Holmwood has a relaxing ambience, you feel it as soon as you walk through the door. The staff were attentive and chatty, our every need was catered for swiftly and with a smile. The room given over to us for the lunch time was well appointed with stunning views over the terrace and the bay. The table was immaculately presented, we had bottled water and crusty new bread awaiting us before we were server our meal. We had chosen from a two course, three option menu that arrived hot and well cooked with silver service from the staff. It wasn't an inspired meal but for the very reasonable price for everything plus coffee and chocolates it was remarkable value. Quite a few of us have said that we would like to go back and stay, to enjoy more of the Island, to walk and to relax in this quintessentially English hotel.

"Good but dated"
Neil O, 20 Mai 2017

All good here for my two night stay while walking some of the coastal path. Clean, well staffed, comfy and a nice location. The wi fi worked well which I have found is not always the case in similar hotels. It is however dated and all very M&S, although that did not really bother me.

"Satisfactory but dated"
Richard T, 17 Mai 2017

The room we had was quite large for a UK hotel and had plenty of storage space. The bathroom was clean but somewhat dated and had a smell of drains at times. The breakfast/restaurant room had an excellent view of the Solent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It felt, however, like it was a bit trapped in a time warp. On the whole, reasonable for the money.

"Great location with excellent views"
NigelFerrier, 15 Mai 2017

For us when we are on a walking trip with our dog, some of the accommodation we stay in can be a gamble. Dog friendly places are not always guest friendly. Not so here. Great family run atmosphere where nothing was to much trouble. We were even given a ground floor room with direct access to the outside which was perfect. We really enjoyed the sun terrace with a well earned G&T overlooking the Solent. If we are ever walking the Wight again we would not hesitate to return.

"Lovely hotel, room clean and well maintained, fantastic staff."
Charlesm186, 30 Avril 2017

We stayed here while taking part in the Isle of Wight Challenge. Staff were exceptional from beginning to end. From our booking they were attentive (we had to make some changes) down to the staff in the bar getting the chef to prepare our meal earlier than when they opened after we had finished our run. The room was clean and well maintained although a little dated. The bed was comfortable and there were all the amenities we required, wifi included. Breakfast was excellent including the staff with a fantastic view over the channel. I could not recommend this hotel more and it really helped to make a fantastic few days.

"Overnight stay, nice hotel, nice position"
t_r_nicolaou, 26 Avril 2017

I stayed in a standard room at the New Holmwood Hotel and ate in the restaurant. One of my colleagues had a suite, but I was sort of glad about my standard room, as the suite was quite dark/gothic like, whereas my standard room was clean and quite bright. My bed was fine; however, other colleagues complained that their mattresses needed replacing as they had significant dips in them. My other gripe, which is probably more personal, is that I hate shower curtains. Otherwise the rooms were well equipped, with tea/coffee making facilities, complimentary spring water, boiled sweets, mints and a basket of the standard complimentary bathroom lotions and potions. We dined in the restaurant, which has a lovely view out over the solent, with all tables benefiting from the view. Both my colleagues and myself had the 3 course set menu and found the portions very generous and the food of a very good standard. Breakfast was sufficient, but didn't really mirror the standard we'd experienced when dining the previous evening. The cold buffet selection is rather limited but OK (maybe limited due to the size of the buffet area). Cooked breakfasts were also available as part of the B & B deal, but unfortunately no veggie alternative offered. The hotel decor is rather tired; however, everything is clean and the staff are extremely kind and helpful. Mobile signals were somewhat sketchy, but there is good free WiFi.

"Good hotel on the sea front"
Frank W, 22 Avril 2017

A simple but comfortable hotel with good facilities and particularly helpful and friendly staff. Reasonably easy to reach from the Redjet terminal on foot, it's well placed for anyone spending time in Cowes.

"Good night sleep!"
Joe0008, 19 Avril 2017

Location was great, quiet and peaceful, just the way I like. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. Got a beach view room which gave me an extra satisfaction. Beds was comfy. The property itself looked dated. Did not get time to try out their restaurant. Overall, enjoyed my short but sweet stay!

Lovely setting clean and friendly good food and ideal for getting around the island. Set on the seafront so excellant for sitting and enjoying the sailing in the summer evenings. The food is very good value

"Good value for money"
Hilary C, 16 Avril 2017

Whilst on the sea front the public rooms have fantastic sea views, the bedrooms at the back of the hotel have no view at all. Having said that the rooms are a good size, clean and reasonably furnished.. The staff are fantastic, helpful, friendly and go out of their way to ensure everyone has everything they need. The breakfast is very good and sitting in the dining room watching the ships go down the Solent is very relaxing.

"Pleasant Stay - Great View"
London A, 15 Avril 2017

This was a return visit to Holmwood after we last stayed here over 10 years ago. It is a very pleasant 10 minute walk along the seafront from the centre of Cowes. With plenty of parking it has a big advantage over other Cowes hotels which have very few parking spaces or none at all. Rooms are average but adequate and there is a very good restaurant and a pleasant bar. The staff are very friendly and professional and we would readily visit again - hopefully before another 10 years goes by.

"Will not be coming back"
Julie5163, 18 Mars 2017

Mattresses need replacing. Did not sleep well at all. Bathroom floor dirty in corners. Plug in sink broken. Would find another hotel when we go back to isle of wight. Manager tried to make amends with changing mattress but sadly the new one was also same. But he did put 3 duvets on top to try and make it more comfy for us. Food here was superb - could not fault it.

"even better than last year"
JohnVLANGLEY, 14 Mars 2017

I said back in 2016 that the New Holmwood was really good. Even better this year since we had over 50 diners there at our organisation's annual luncheon. A plentiful menu in advance gave us all a choice of our favourite dishes, including vegetarian options, that all arrived in sequence thanks to a smooth-running kitchen and friendly waiting staff. I said last year that 30+ diners couldn't be wrong. I take that back and have changed my mind - it should read now 'over 50 diners happily tucked into their meals with gusto'. So Thank You to all who made our celebration so successful.

"Lovely Friendly hotel "
carolebarneylewis, 16 Février 2017

We have just returned home after spending three nights here. The rooms are comfortable and extremely clean. Staff are a credit to the hotel, and so thoughtful when our friends needed to cut their break short and return home a day early. Breakfast was very good and the staff were pleasant and attentive. All in all a great find, close to Cowes.

"Really Lovely Hotel"
WelshCariad01, 16 Février 2017

Booked this hotel with some friends for 3 nights with breakfast. Our room was no 22 at the back of the hotel. It felt very cosy and lots of little touches e.g. Sweets, bottled water, chocolate, shower gels etc. The room was clean and plenty of storage. There were tea and coffee making facilities and a hairdryer in the room. You can see a bit of the sea from the room, but not very scenic. It didn't matter as we were out and about most of the time. The shower was excellent. We had a very friendly welcome when we arrived and the gentleman on reception carried our bag up to the room. The dining room was at the front of the hotel has stunning views of the Solent. Breakfast was really good and cooked fresh. There was a good selections of cereals, yogurt and fruit. The staff were also very friendly and very efficient. Unfortunately we had a family emergency, our dog was taken ill, so we left a night early. This wasn't a problem and they only charged us for the 2 nights which was kind. They were very sympathetic, indeed the lady who cleaned our room even asked about our dog. All in all this was a very friendly hotel and would love to come back again. All the staff were friendly without exception.

"Absolutely stonking with a good location practically on the beach !!!"
Angryman777, 18 Novembre 2016

Stayed here on a working holiday and what a result it was ;) I normally tend to stay in Premier Inns and this was by far better even though i have done reviews on them !!! The staff were exceptional in every way ( Thanks Kathy for your understanding of my food requirements ) The hotel itself is great and well laid out. Parking wasn't too bad at this time of year even though you could park on the seafront for free. The food was overall exceptional, i had the lamb burger for 3 days in a row !!! The WiFi was the best i have ever had in a hotel which was a bonus. The room was great with a sea view which was nice, the en suite bathroom as you would expect was also good and the shower was powerful !!! TV as standard and the bed and quilt were comfy. My only gripe really was the pillow wasn't that comfortable but not worth worrying about. The bar area is nice with a variety of beverages to suit all. Breakfast was also exceptional and you can have anything you want generally. In all i could not recommend this hotel enough AND i do hope to go back one day ;) Keep up the good work ;)

"Superb Stay"
Suzanne M, 14 Novembre 2016

When I booked, the hotel staff were more than accommodating. This was a good start. When we arrived at the hotel the staff were extremely welcoming and even though we arrived earlier than the check-in time our room was ready and we were also upgraded, we also had a late check out. The room was of a really good size and very clean. We dont usually eat at the hotels we stay in but did on this occasion. The food at lunch time tasted so fresh and was great! I'm not a lover of hotel breakfasts in the UK as they are usually very much the same and smell the same too if that makes sense! However I have to say that at this hotel the breakfast was absolutely wonderful and tasted home made. All the staff we were in contact with were second to none and really made our stay a pleasure. A big thank you to the hotel.

"Busness trip to the i.o.w"
andrewcD8517DS, 30 Octobre 2016

Enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The facilities were very good. Very focused staff keen to offer excellent service. Hotel well presented with a pleasant lounge area and excellent restaurant facilities. The room required better lighting and some aspects were a bit tired. The bathroom fan was loud and took a long time to switch off. Soft-close toilet seat needs replacing.

"Thoroughly enoyable stay"
Garonne9, 23 Octobre 2016

Our first visit to the Isle of Wight, staying three nights, and would recommend this hotel. The first thing to mention is the Staff, they were all excellent. Friendly, helpful and very accommodating. Nothing was a problem for any of them. The hotel's location is great - for being able to walk into Cowes, views over the Solent and access to the Ferry from/to Southampton. The rooms were large and very clean and the bed was huge. Although we didn't have dinner in the hotel, the breakfasts were excellent. Onky downside was that the Wifi was not very fast.

Our first visit to this hotel----after 60 years of hotel stays for business and pleasure have to report this as one of the best experiences. Great room. excellent food and superb service and attention

"Another wonderful stay"
LizzienEric, 10 Octobre 2016

We have just got back from a wonderful two night stay at New Holmwood Hotel. We last visited a year ago and had a great time and decided that we would return. From the booking, to our arrival and all during our stay every single member of staff were helpful, friendly and attentive. The Hotel is immaculate, the breakfasts are just blissful and the beds very comfy. Whilst we were there this weekend there was a wedding, and we had been advance warned of this and our room was located away from any disruption. The rooms are well appointed, clean and fresh my only slight whinge is that in the room we had, room 5, the bathroom window had a lacy net curtain to provide some privacy ... a small roller blind would be a huge improvement there. There are beautiful clear views across the Solent from the front of the Hotel and in particular it is very pleasant sitting in the dining room, lounge or on the terrace. You couldn't be much closer to the water unless you were on the beach!! A twenty minute walk takes you into Cowes where there are many shops, bars or coffee shops and yet more waterside views en route. I totally recommend this Hotel for a break. We will be heading back soon!

"Very pleasant"
tosca609, 04 Octobre 2016

Friendly staff, clean, good sized room, reasonable (full English) breakfast, convenient location for walking into Cowes. Stayed here several times and would return. Try to get a room with view north overlooking The Solent if possible.

"Room with a view."
Ste M, 04 Octobre 2016

A usual pleasant stay with Best Western. Greeted upon arrival by friendly staff who showed me to my small but well appointed double room. I had a side room with a sea view which was nice. The mornings breakfast was the the usual full English with some local produce, with several other options available on request from the friendly staff. Will most certainly stay again.

"A good nights sleep"
Squerky, 02 Octobre 2016

This hotel overlooks the sea front. On arrival the staff are super friendly, efficient and helpful. The decor feels a bit dated throughout the hotel. However the room is very clean and the bedding is very fresh. Although the bathroom is lovely and spacious it could do with a complete refurb to update it. I can really recommend dining in the restaurant. The A La Carte menu I chose was beautifully cooked and I didn't hear a bad word from anyone. The staff were very attentive. I would definitely stay here again.

"Pleasant hotel with very good food"
Tim W, 02 Octobre 2016

Lovely comfortable hotel, a bit 'old fashioned' in a nice way ( at 62 and 58 we were amongst the younger guests.....) with an excellent restaurant, offering good British cooking with a bit of flair, nicely served, and a beautiful view of the Solent through the huge full height windows. One star knocked off for the ridiculous over-bath shower which was impossible to use without soaking the floor.

"An amazing weekend away ..."
Anthony W, 26 Septembre 2016

My partner,I and our dog Dave stayed at the New Holmwood this past weekend and I must say that this is without a doubt one of the best hotels on the Island. Everything about this place is fantastic, the staff are absolutely superb , warm welcoming and nothing is too much. Kathy and Dave, the Manager and Manageress have a great team behind them and really know how to look after people. Having stayed in a lot of hotels from small one man outfits, to the big corporate chains I must say that by far the food at the New Holmwood blows most of the competition away . The kitchen team are nothing short of excellent , we ate at the Hotel on Friday and Saturday night , the food had immense flavourings , was cooked spot on and the presentation was stunning , portion size was also spot on. On the Saturday night there was also a large function/sit down meal taking place but again there was no fault in service , timing was spot on there was no waiting around and food was bought to the table piping hot . Dave the dog had a lovely trip too and found he was made more welcome than his human counterparts, on arrival he was made a constant fuss of and this remained throughout the duration of our stay, there was even a doggy welcome pack with doggy treats attached ...Dave was made to feel like quite the canine superstar and even got a fussed send off with most of the front of house staff coming out to say goodbye to him. All in all I will say that if you are planning on going over too the Island for a short stay, whether you have a four legged friend or not , I would highly recommend you check out this hotel over any others first to see if they have availability , You will not regret staying at the New Holmwood Hotel .

"Excellent Customer Service"
Suzanne Z, 19 Septembre 2016

The staff at this hotel are exceptionally helpful and friendly, from the reception staff to the bar staff to the restaurant staff. Great value for money a little dated decoration but very clean fabulously comfy super king sized beds. Would 100% return. The location is perfect for a stroll along the beach and into Cowes where there is a good selection of shops both individual and the usual high street shops. Relaxing on the terrace watching the boats come and go is just lovely.

"Welcoming & Great Views"

"It is the people who work in the hotel that makes the real difference"
sermet b, 31 Août 2016

I have bean to many hotels good and bad, Some five star hotels excellent in their fecilitys but lack personnel service and in my opinion it is the hotel staff that makes the difference between good and bad stay. The staff in this hotel are exelant and will make your stay worth while.

"Lovely Place to Visit"
Philip T, 31 Août 2016

Called in here on a Bank Holiday lunch time for a drink on the terrace. Reception staff were very attentive and welcoming, particularly Claire, who then served us a drink which we took outside. Lovely views towards the Solent and it was just lovely. Planning to come back here for a weekend away as we thought it was so nice. Thoroughly recommended.

"Short break"

Lovely little hotel in a wonderful position would definitely stay here again, maybe this time ask for room with a sea view. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Delicious breakfast with wonderful sea views from every table in the dining room. Couldn't of asked for more for a short break.

"A most enjoyable stay"
Richard W, 30 Août 2016

I had a fantastic stay. Love the decor of the hotel and the model ships too! The serving staff were courteous, friendly and polite and made my stay really enjoyable and made me feel very welcome too. This place is a real gem - recommended!

"Great venue for a wedding"
Gavin T, 29 Août 2016

As photographers we get to visit some beautiful location and the New Holmwood Hotel is no exception. The staff were fantastic and allowed us to concentrate on our jobs while assisting us if necessary. The hotel itself is stunning inside with very light an airy function rooms that are modern and inviting yet tastefully and classically styled perfectly fitting in with the nautical theme of cowes. The views over the Solent are second to none which made our lives and job that little bit easier. The food is exquisite and they can accommodate for most if not all dietary needs. I would like to thank the director and his brilliant staff for a very pleasant and welcoming time and I would recommend this hotel for any occasion you may have

"Perfect Wedding Day"
Neil1Barlow, 28 Août 2016

We had our wedding day here a few weeks ago, the hotel is a beautiful setting with views over the solent and David and his team exceeded all our expectations. They worked incredibly hard to make our day beautiful and faultless. We felt completely relaxed, allowing us to enjoy our day with our guests, thanks to the day being so well organised and without exception, all staff were professional and delivered a very high standard of customer service. They were all extremely welcoming and friendly and all of our guests commented on how amazing the service and staff were. We had a three course sit down lunch in the restaurant, the food was delicious and well presented and all food allergies catered for without any fuss. We spent our wedding night in one of the suites (i forget the name), the room was beautiful with lovely decor and was exceptionally clean. We will definitely return with very fond memories in the future, the hotel is rated as three stars, I would give it five!

"A relaxing break in peaceful surroundings"
Anita T, 27 Août 2016

From the booking process to our departure the friendliness and welcoming attitude of all members of staff were second to none. David, the manager, was super nice and he and the ladies on reception loved Maggie, out little dog. Nothing was too much trouble. We ate delicious breakfasts in the lounge area, so Maggie could be with us. They had treats for her too! Our room was a generous size and had a kingsize bed. We had a stunning view across the Solent and it was incredibly quiet and peaceful. We stayed for 4 nights as an end to a 2 week holiday. The Newholmwood was the third place we had stayed at and I am pleased to report that of the 3 it was the best for comfort, peace and warmth of the staff. The location of the hotel was perfect if you have a dog, with a brisk 15-20 minutes walk into Cowes High Street. We will definitely be visiting again! Thank you to David and his team.

"Excellent hotel and friendly staff."
Graeme F, 14 Août 2016

We booked this hotel for one night in August 2016 on the internet as a reduced deal for £90. We were very surprised when we were give a suite with super king size bed and small sitting room with sea views. A very peaceful place with friendly staff who could not do enough for us. Although we didn't eat here in the evening the food that I did see on offer looked very good quality. The breakfast in the morning confirmed this, they quickly adapted the breakfast to suit me being a vegetarian. Everything was freshly cooked and very tasty. The outside seating area has some stunning views across to the mainland. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.

"Peaceful with excelent views of Solent"
Chris M, 10 Août 2016

Wonderful hotel, friendly staff with unbeatable views. Worth the stay though being on the peninsular can be a bit of a trek to other parts of the Island, though well worth it. Bathroom was a bit tired but pleasent enough. Nice and quiet at night. Generally a lovely hotel with a wonderful ambience and relaxing atmosphere.

"Super sunny stay"
Sally B, 07 Août 2016

Clean, comfy, relaxing stay with friends. Very friendly helpful staff, stayed for two nights. Rooms clean and comfy. We stayed on a particular ly hot weekend and our room was very hot, the staff were quick to provide a fan as soon as we mentioned it. Also had evening meal there. Delicious and nice atmosphere. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel and would stay again.

"Little Gem"
KayannYoung, 05 Août 2016

Not since 1975 have I found a hotel with every member of staff offering such GENUINE customer service. The The hotel was very clean and wonderfully presented. The restaurant, lounge and terraces all faced onto the Solent. Most rooms have at least a partial view of the Solent. The food was lovely, well presented and reasonably priced. Nothing was too much trouble. The reception and restaurant staff called me by my name and made me most welcome throughout my visit. I recommended the hotel to my son and family for the following night, and they enjoyed it as much as I did. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to everyone

"Nice Hotel - Excellent Service"
N1277KGmichaela, 03 Août 2016

Nice hotel, very comfortable. Well-stocked bar, food in the restaurant was good. Had a large glass of South American Merlot, which was really bottom end bargain basement, but was charged at £6.05 a glass, too expensive for such cheap plonk. Other than that, very good, I'd stay there again.

"The New Holmwood Hotel"
Richard G, 03 Août 2016

This hotel in my opinion is one of best in the group and the friendliness of the staff made our stay even better. Location wise it is perfect for visiting Isle of Wight and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone as a lovely place hotel to visit.

"Outstanding stay!"
Becca W, 01 Août 2016

This hotel has absolutely amazing service, all the staff went above and beyond during our stay. Helping with bus timetables and answering all of our tourist questions. Right through to service in the restaurant, they were friendly and catered to every need without being invasive as well as being flexible with meals for us and our toddler. The rooms are quaint and classic, lots of storage space, complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and even a welcome chocolate. The bed is comfortable and there is a HUGE bathtub. The breakfast is delicious and there are many options from a full English breakfast to fruit and cereals. The hot meals are cooked fresh and taste excellent. Dinner is even better and I highly recommend eating at the restaurant for at least one night if you stay. I had prawns for an entree and roast lamb for main with the meringue as dessert, it was all fantastic and I'm so glad we decided to eat at the hotel. Even if you aren't staying at this hotel I would recommend eating there. I can honestly say that this has been our favourite hotel on our holiday through Europe and it is because of how amazing and friendly the staff are. Hopefully we get to visit again and we will definitely being staying at the New Holmwood!

"Fantastic Service"

"Great friendly and affordable hotel"
webbyc2016, 26 Juillet 2016

The hotel has a great location close to Cowes, but away from the noise. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was very clean and food fantastic. This certainly won't be our only visit, and if you are thinking of visiting Cowes or the Isle Of Wight, you would be hard pressed to find a better and more friendly hotel.

"Great Stay"
940joyceg, 20 Juillet 2016

Lovely friendly quiet hotel. I would defiantly go back. We only had one meal but was very nice. We could just see the water from our room which was also a bonus. The hotel is a short distance from cows so easily walkable.

"Wonderful stay"
Allison A, 18 Juillet 2016

Stayed 3 nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast tariff and the hotel booked our ferry trip as well. The hotel was easy to find and had parking. Rooms were excellent, clean and well equipped, including bottles of water and sweets! These thoughtful touches do matter. The added bonus was ceiling fans in the bedrooms and throughout the hotel. Dinner was excellent and the menu changed every night, we had coffee in the lounge overlooking the sea. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

"Here for a fabulous wedding"
Lee R, 12 Juillet 2016

We stayed here for 1 night after coming to a wedding at this hotel. Room was fine, food at the wedding was great, service all round was brilliant. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to get married on the IOW.

"Satisfactory"
Surrey456, 10 Juillet 2016

Very tight car parking, with a limited number of small spaces. Slightly old fashioned hotel, in an excellent position on the sea front. Breakfast well cooked and nicely presented. Enormous bed, and very quiet at night.

"Back for a second helping!"
thegeezah, 27 Juin 2016

Just needed to drop another line about our second stay here at The New Holmwood Hotel on this magical island. Because of the outstanding service we experienced on our last visit in 2014 to visit family (see previous review - https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g503888-d288879-r205170038-BEST_WESTERN_New_Holmwood_Hotel_Restaurant-Cowes_Isle_of_Wight_England.html#CHECK_RATES_CONT) & their dog friendly policy, we decided to return with my mum & now our 2 little dachshunds! (we only had the one on our last visit) I really cannot express enough praise for the staff at the Holmwood they deserve, always courteous, friendly & welcoming. Nothing here is a problem - just as we experienced over 2 years ago! The location of the Hotel is superb - literally 10 mins from the Red Funnel Terminal, so no long trek once you are on the Island, & the views....well, seafront location overlooking the Solent so there is always something happening. Breakfast was fantastic - perfect poached eggs! Extensive breakfast choice & freshly cooked to order. Thank you again to all the staff - we'll be back next time we visit family here. ..oh & thanks again for keeping our garlic butter from the Garlic Farm & Isle of Wight blue cheeses fresh in your fridge for us to take back home in our cool bag! ;-) Rick, Shirley & Mum Pauline see you again, without a doubt!

"Great 4 night stay in Beautiful Cowes"
Vici W, 18 Juin 2016

Just returned from a 4 night break at the New Holmwood Hotel with 2 friends. We booked in January and took advantage of my husband's diamond membership with 20% off the room rates directly with Best Western on any master-card booking. The hotel sorted out our ferry booking at £56 return for 4 passengers and 1 car. We arrived early at Southampton but were allowed to board 2 hours earlier than planned - a great start. This meant our rooms weren't ready but we had a walk into Cowes which is a brisk 20 minute walk or 30 minute amble away. The staff here are lovely and a credit to the hotel. There were a mixture of guests;couples, friends, singles and business travelers. Nothing was too much trouble. No parking problems either. We were upgraded to the Max Aitken Suite which was clean and spacious with a large comfortable bed. Very nice small extras in the room;sweets;chocolates good tea tray and water-everything replenished daily and nice towels. Maid service was superb - possibly the best we have ever received in a Best Western. We slept with our windows open but use earplugs as the gulls get up early. We were bed and breakfast. The dining room is a feature of the hotel with stunning views. The standard of the cooked breakfast is very good and is cooked exactly to your liking if asked. We ate in the hotel in the first evening which we booked and had the 3 course Table De Hote menu 3 course for £23 ish which was faultless and great value. We could have eaten there every evening as the menu is changed daily and it was tempting as the choice of meals were very good. Drinks prices not too bad for a hotel. There are nice areas to sit inside and out and the hotel has nice decor in the public areas. Cowes is lovely and we ate there 3 evenings at Mojacs, Tontinos Italian and The Grill. There are a good choice of pubs and cafes in the town. We would definitely recommend and book here again or eat here as the restaurant is open to the public - all looked after by the attentive staff. Just 2 small points the hair dryers could do with upgrading and the white wine in the bar was sometimes not cold enough and needed ice. Thanks to all the staff for making this hotel a joy to stop at.

"Lovely dog loving hotel"
Austin442014, 11 Juin 2016

It's so hard to find a hotel that is really friendly for us and a large chocolate lab named Bob. The people here were so nice and welcoming. We only stayed for 1 night but really wish it had been longer. Bob was spoiled rotten, the room was lovely and they kindly brought our meals out onto the terrace so we could enjoy the beautiful view without Bob begging for food from everyone indoors!! We will definitely be back and hopefully for a bit longer next time. Thank you to everyone who made us feel so comfortable and welcomed Bob with open arms......literally.

"Family weekend away"
cdsourbutts, 06 Juin 2016

The location of this hotel is perfect. The view from the dining room is fab. The rooms and decor are dated, however, we wanted for nothing in our room. Plenty of toiletries, and fresh water replaced daily. All the staff we met were exceptionally polite and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

"Night Out in Cowes"
SimonBuckley, 06 Juin 2016

Nice hotel right on the water front staff are chatty and friendly and accommodated our needs to put are bikes is a safe place, rooms were comfortable with plenty of hot water, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sweets, chocolates and sparkling water, bar has a good selection of beers which can be enjoyed outside watching all the boats and large container ships swing into Southampton, Breakfast was no trouble for the staff great selection of cooked options, plenty of tea and coffee and happy to provide more if needed.

"Great location"
Colin E, 04 Juin 2016

This hotel was used by my wife and I as a restaurant as we were staying nearby. The hotel took my booking for an evening meal and we duly arrived about 10 minutes before the arranged time. We had a drink in the lounge and waited for about 20 minutes to be seated. As we did not want a starter we just went for the main courses and sat waiting for almost 40 minutes. The waitress actually asked if we would like more bread as she was conscious of the delay. Eventually our meals arrived and although were both very nice we felt as though because we were non residents we were not treated the same as the residents who were also eating evening meals. The staff were friendly enough but we felt the emphasis for quality of service was biased towards the residents. Otherwise this restaurant is satisfactory.

"Weekend visit to the IOW"
Butlers-Wharf Z, 12 Mai 2016

Very basic accommodation. Clean but dated and floral in decor. Noisy bedroom (no. 2) - felt like we were in a house rather than a hotel with noise from people walking upstairs and the shower going next door. Breakfast was good.

"We called in here twice."
Travellerclass, 09 Mai 2016

We had been in West Cowes for drinks and food in the evening and walked along the coastal footpath along the seafront to locate and attempt "Egypt Hill". We subsequently renamed this hill as Cardiac Hill due to the climb. We found this Best Western Hotel by chance as its tucked out of the town in a great position facing the sea. They had a sign up saying none residents welcome so we went in. We sat outside in the warm evening air on the balcony and had drinks and loved the visit. In fact we loved it so much we stopped off the next night as well for seconds and again the service and drinks supplied were perfect. We felt we would like to stay here one day and have kept the information given to us by the helpful reception staff. Plenty of parking if required out the front with terrific views over the sea and land beyond.

"A terrific hotel"
robertacR3545IE, 09 Mai 2016

We had a wonderful time at this hotel in Cowes. Perfect ambiance, perfect view of the harbor from our window. The staff were all so pleasant and helpful. Can't wait for another visit to this wonderful hotel soon.

"Good Accommodatrion with great views of sea"
DoonanQ, 03 Mai 2016

The service and rooms were excellent. When relaing for a drink and dinner great views over the ocean. Nice friendly and helpful staff. I had a bike with me, not a problem they stored for me abd were always happy when to help when I wanted it.

"Very friendly staff great location"
Jospickard, 28 Avril 2016

We visited here as a group from work. The location is right on the seafront with stunning views when weather nice. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, didn't need to get up they came and served you immediately as you sat down. It was quiet though so we decided to drink at the bar and eat in the restaurant. There was a 3 course meal deal on for £23. The food was excellent with fast service. The rooms however were not modern but did the job. Had tv, double bed, lots of mirrors, hair dryer, dressing table and chair. Bathroom had bath and shower and was small but lots of products supplied. Lovely addition to the room was sweets in glass, bottles of water, chocolates on side tables and galaxy hot choc. As we visited out of season there wasn't a lot to do around area and not many people about. As we were all quite tired after walking down sea front, we stayed in hotel bar area and asked for cards which were provided quickly and made our evening less boring. More suited for older people, however as a 22 year old I still enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it.

"Truly individual attention"
dibley2015, 27 Avril 2016

We had dinner at the Holmwood hotel twice during our stay in a nearby flat. Each time we had really individual service, we sat in the lounge with time to select from the menu, sip a drink before being called into the restaurant when our starter was ready. The food was well-presented and interesting; very tasty. We enjoyed the vie over the Solent from the restaurant windows, and our waiter took the trouble to give us information about identifying the shipping. An excellent experience, much recommended.

"First class staff"
JaneChichester1995, 24 Avril 2016

This is a really pleasant hotel in a quiet seafront location. Our room was a generous size with a huge bathroom and a view of the sea. But what really impressed us was the staff - they went over and above to make sure our stay wasn't just good, but wonderful. We would definitely go back.

"Holmwood from Home"
jovanl836, 22 Avril 2016

Holm wood hotel is a clean comfortable and pleasant hotel to spend a few days. Staff are all extremely helpful and courteous. Dined at the hotel restaurant and found the choice and quality of food extremely good.

"Warm, welcoming and professional "
Gardenvisits, 11 Avril 2016

We had a great weekend break at this hotel. The team are very friendly and we immediately felt welcome and relaxed. The location is a 15 minute walk from the ferry and situated right on the seafront - it feels restful but close enough to restaurants and pubs if needed. It is worth h

"A weekend away for a family funeral"
outdoorgirl2016, 03 Avril 2016

I have just returned from a weekend stay at this hotel for my father's funeral. Externally , the building is not the prettiest. The public areas are a little dated with patterned swirly carpets but are spotlessly clean . When I say dated I don't mean shabby , carpets etc perfect just stuck in the seventies. My room was small (rm4 ) but perfectly formed ,it had every conceivable extra you could imagine. Tissues, chocolates , boiled sweets , bottles of water, lots of lovely toiletries etc. Lots have thought has gone into the refurbishment of these rooms. I could actually dry my hair this morning , sat down in front of a mirror.!! I ate in the lounge area both evenings as it had been a bit of a draining day. Very tasty food, yes a little bit above average prices, but convenient and very tasty. But the jewel in this crown is the amazing customer service, nothing is too much trouble. Reception staff were very welcoming, I am only sorry that I didn't get their names. Scotty in the bar, took time to chat to me . I never felt that I was holding him up. Cathy , the restaurant manager and as I understand one of the hotel managers was AMAZING. Polite, professional and very , very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. For 35 years I have been researching my family history but had stumbled on a brick wall, in that no one could remember my Grandparents pub in Battersea. Cathy had a friend from Battersea and said she would contact her and ask her if she had any knowledge. She sought me out the following evening to give me a positive response. On departure she had left me a note with her friends email address. How is that for customer service ??? My first night , I didn't sleep very well as my room was so hot, like a sauna. When I asked reception if someone could sort the problem it was fixed within two hours. I came back to a room with the window wide open and lots of fresh air !! I would come back here in a heartbeat. Funny enough I spent my wedding night here 23 years ago. Unremarkable at that time. The staff really value their job and take pride in their job . Fabulous place to stay.

"One of the best"
Neil C, 31 Mars 2016

Would always recommend due to the friendliness of the staff, the attitude was first class, perfect location with excellent sea view in the Dining room & an altogether great stay. Would always be my first choice when staying in the Isle of Wight. Highly recommended.

"Family visit"
Jeanne D, 26 Mars 2016

There were five of us in the party who came to visit family who live on the island. We were all delighted with the Hotel. It is situated right on the front at Egypt Point and overlooking the Solent. It is an easy walk to the centre of Cowes so is well placed to visit the town. The rooms were very well appointed, clean and well equipped. Due to my husband's disability we stayed in a disabled room, which was excellent. The food was exceptional with a good variety of choice and the staff well trained, friendly and helpful. The Hotel does a very good deal with the ferry booking included. All in all I can't find one negative thing to say about this Hotel. We would certainly stay there again and hope to do so soon.

"Very Friendly."
1961phil1961, 14 Mars 2016

Stayed at this Hotel for a long weekend break and after a long trip we were welcomed by friendly helpfull staff. All you could ask for a quiet chill out break. Cosy comfortable rooms, excellent food, good location with a view over the solent and most of all dog friendly.

"A gem overlooking the Solent"
Malcolm H, 10 Mars 2016

I didn't quite expect the Hotel to be so well situated for my visit to the Island. Having stayed in many hotels, the outside doesn't do the place justice. Inside is a different matter: Great outlook (In better weather), friendly, attentive staff, good food, and the fastest most reliable Wi-Fi I have ever had in a hotel. Well done.

"Warm welcome"
JohnW_10, 06 Mars 2016

We lunched here with about 18 members of a car club last week. We had an excellent lunch (pre ordered) in a welcoming environment & with unobtrusive but very attentive service. Also very good value for money. Only slight negative - very tight car park unless one pays to park on the adjacent esplanade

"Good value"
sugar987, 04 Mars 2016

excellent Hotel very friendly staff good service and good food would recommend this hotel nice walks and excellent views took our friends who came over from Canada and they were very impressed with the whole place and staff

"Comfy and friendly"
Angus M, 01 Mars 2016

We stayed in a sea facing room (extra cost) which was very pleasant. All staff were helpful and friendly. The décor in the public areas is a bit dated, but this did not detract from our stay. The hotel is on the coast at the edge of Cowes town; there is around a 15 minute walk to pubs /restaurants / shops.

"Excellent food / rooms / service"
Alasdair M, 23 Février 2016

Stayed here on business and as a holiday for a few days with my wife. Food at the hotel is excellent. Hotel serves evening meals. Excellent service from staff and owners, very warm and friendly, makes you feel home from home. would definitely stay here again.

"30 plus diners cannot be wrong"
JohnVLANGLEY, 17 Février 2016

As Chairman of the Isle of Wight branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE-IW) I always look for good value when we book our annual New Year Luncheon for our Members and their guests. This year we chose to try the New Holmwood Hotel and we were certainly glad we did. The food and service were faultless and for my wife and myself the vegetarian options were satisfyingly good. The nut roast was imaginative and delicious and considered one of the best ever tasted at a commercial establishment. Our diners tucked in and the testimonial of dozens of clean plates at the end of every course needed no further words. I was so impressed with the quality of the whole event that my wife and I will certainly return for another meal, this time for family members. Christmas comes well recommended so we shall have to book very early in order to bag a place at table... To the management and dining room staff - well done and thank you.

"Old fashioned? Thankfully yes!"
MIke C, 15 Février 2016

I have read some reviews of this hotel on here and they surprise me. One stated that it was "old fashioned" and so I felt the need to add my comments. My wife and I stayed here for a valentines weekend which included a wonderful meal on the Saturday night and a stay in the Sir Max Aitken suite (a most appreciated upgrade!). The staff were extremely old fashioned in that they were polite, helpful and friendly which is more than I can say for many hotels we have stayed in. The restaurant was quite old fashioned as the meal was not a standard, downloaded menu consisting of mass produced catering ingredients but was a wonderfully prepared and thoughtful mix of flavours and tastes. The room we stayed in was quite old fashioned as it was not identical to all the others and did not leave me waking up wondering which hotel I was in that morning. In an old fashioned way they also let us bring our two dogs with us and they stayed in our room with us. The dogs were welcomed as guests and were spoilt by the staff on each appearance. All in all, I am thankful that this is an "old fashioned" hotel as I am fed up with staying in duplicated blueprint hotels staffed by miserable staff who just want to get rid of us. I can thoroughly recommend the New Holmwood Hotel and their staff to anyone who wants a lovely place to stay and eat on the Isle of Wight.

"What a great place"
katiejohn, 31 Janvier 2016

We have just had a wonderful weekend at this hotel. The staff were SO friendly, cheerful and helpful, the rooms were lovely and the food excellent. Thank you all for making it such a special stay, including of course the chef behind the scene!

"Christmas"
Kirsty T, 30 Janvier 2016

Celebrated Christmas dinner here with the family - it was perfect! Food and atmosphere were both fabulous and we all felt pampered! So good we booked again for next year when we settled our bill! Highly recommend!

"Superb organisation of ladies night"
Johnelliott1942jock, 30 Janvier 2016

Dave and Kathy and their amazing team ensured the whole evening ran smoothl. The meal was second to none and dietary requirements we're catered for. Our room was perfect as was breakfast! Fully recommend this lovely hotel.

"Big 90. "
Michael I, 23 Janvier 2016

Being 90 is not just a birthday but also a privilege. Celebrating it is amazing. This hotel was selected as being this particular 90 year olds favourite Sunday lunch pit stop. We arrived to the warmest and most professional of receptions. Speedily handling our checking in with a glass of bubbles on arrival(part of the celebration not normal but so welcoming) Lunch was executed with professional staff attention to detail and extreme courtesy. Well done. Feeding 60 people with hot food all once is an art. There are no complaints at all. The occasion was delivered with skill. Our accommodation for the night was one of the suites. I was very pleasantly surprised by the size of the room (no accountants carving up space here to make two rooms out of one) but a delightful sea veiw room with old fashioned flair. Yes old fashioned and how proud they should be for maintaining a great standard out of classic 70's design. Time travellers fill your boots ( that were made for walking) and absorb the feel of 70's kitsch. Unashamedly retro by default not design. Dear Holmwood don't you dare change. We loved it.

"Friendly place, in need of a bit of modernisation"
Chris S, 22 Janvier 2016

Good location, right on the seafront with some cracking views and only a few minutes' walk from the centre of Cowes. Staff all very efficient, friendly and smiley. Rooms spacious and comfortable. B&B rate of £75 or so for single occupancy of a double room in mid-January felt reasonable. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that the place has a bit of a feel of your nan's house circa 1978 to it - swirly-patterned carpets, bathroom tiles with roses on them, Corby trouser press on the wall etc etc. I'm no fan of the ultra-sterile chain hotel or the minimalist boutique hotel, and with Best Western you're always expecting something a bit quirky - but this place would benefit from a bit of updating to bring it somewhere towards 2016 in look and feel.

"OK building, great staff"
Ian663, 17 Janvier 2016

A 10 minute walk from the Red Jet and directly on the sea front, the hotel building and interior is fine. It's slightly tired but has more of a homely feel than many chain hotels and they put lots of convenient items in to the bedrooms which many of the chains are now removing. But the staff really made it - helpful, friendly, keen to try and assist with a sense of humour as well. I was there fore business and whilst I sat for dinner by myself, they ensured that I didn't feel as though I was completely sad and lonely! I think if they updated the bedroom slightly it would be better. I normally would not eat in the hotel restaurant but a January night did not make me feel like going out - the food was more than satisfactory, I had a lamb dish where the meat was well cooked (albeit a small portion of meat on the set menu) but the veg was plentiful and was excellent, al dente just as it should be and it was reasonably priced. Wifi was free and easy to get on to, even though the Islands coverage can be patchy.

"Very Happy Stay"
Axonbp, 05 Janvier 2016

Booked a 2 day short break before back to work. Decided on this hotel last minute and very happy i did. Location is just far enough from town centre, quiet and good view. Staff very helpful and attentive. Food better than i hoped, well served and tasty. Rooms a little tired but everything worked well.. Free parking and easy to find. Well worth considering and a low risk option. Only 15 mins from ferry.

"Average seaside hotel"
Biriyaniboy B, 31 Décembre 2015

I spent three days in this beautiful hotel . We had a very large suite which was bright and overlooking the sea. Room comfortable although dated. Good and plentiful breakfast with a mix of English & European. Friendly and always available . Shame about the pool ... it was nice and clean , but it was a bit ' too cold to take advantage of it It is an ok hotel, comfortable, nice, clean however like a lot of English seaside hotels it is not exceptional.

"Christmas in Cowes"
belinda1812, 28 Décembre 2015

My elderly father and his partner spent 3 nights at this wonderful hotel over Christmas...and my brother, my partner and myself joined them for Christmas Day lunch and various other drinks and coffees over their short break. I cannot praise this hotel or it s wonderful staff under the helm of David the manager highly enough.....Nothing was too much trouble .,,from helping collect a wheelchair prior to their arrival, through helping to unload and then repack the car,and also allowing us to leave our car in their very full car park while we walked back to our house after the most delicious Christmas lunch...the hotel foyer was beautifully decorated and there was an endless supply of chicolates nuts and satsumas so it really felt like a party at home...the bar staff were extremely attentive...and we also had a very generous welcome drink when they arrived..all the meals that they had were superb and we are all keen to do it again next year.....the disabled room...no 1 ..was very conveniently situated for my father and the shower very easy to use....it made his trip because nothing was a struggle ...thank you to all the staff from the Wright family

"New Holmwood Cowes"
Paul A, 24 Décembre 2015

Stayed at the New Holmwood on business for two weeks. Staff were excellent, attentive and helpful. I ate at the hotel and can recommend the food from the restaurant. I can recommend this hotel, if you are staying on the island.

"GREAT"
paulette H, 23 Décembre 2015

Lovely comfortable hotel. Great staff and manager, helpful efficient. Go the extra mile to help and serve. Delicious food. Very varied menus. Over looking the solent. Can see ships coming and going. Lovely sight when lit up on dark nights. Stayed here 3 times and called in for meals when not staying. I cant fault this hotel and Im VERY hard to please

"/Warm welcome by friendly staff, perfect location, lovely room with sea view"
Jean T, 17 Décembre 2015

From speaking to staff on booking, we knew we would feel comfortable in this hotel. On arrival, we were made to feel very welcome. We had booked a seaview, which was a bonus and the room was very clean, well appointed and the bathroom lovely. Together with a very good breakfast, we really enjoyed our stay and will be back. It was like staying at a family run hotel. Thanks to all the staff.

"Fawlty Holmwood"
IdaandKristof, 05 Décembre 2015

Cowes means high prices since reach people like this place. I can accept this. Hotel is fine, nicely located on the shore hill. You have a view from restaurant on the bay and industrial harbor behind the waves. Charming. Other reviewers are right in relation to facilities, I will not repeat these points. My main concern is a hotel business understanding. Staff is nice and try the best. Unfortunately, they do not know what it is about. We have been a large group - conference participants. Came to the hotel late, about 8 PM. Took shower and get the restaurant to eat a dinner. So far so good. About 9:45 PM waiters started prepare tables to the morning breakfast pushing us to leave the room. Their excuse was 'we have had a wedding a day before so we are tired and want go home' (!). I was told that any hotel is your home when on travel. I felt like intruder, not at home at all. Shame you, Fawlty Holmwood staff, shame you. I know, may score is maybe too low. The hotel is fine and charming from many perspectives. I am afraid I would not be heard if give you an average score. Your afternoon's behavior was under par.

"look no further if needing a hotel on the isle of wight"
embuckett, 02 Décembre 2015

No faults at all with this superb hotel. the staff were exceptionally happy and helpful. The hotel amenities excellent and well maintained. The restaurant top quality and service. Our room had fantastic views over the Solent.

"Highly recommended"
Steve G, 16 Novembre 2015

Absolutely cannot fault my experience. Feels more like a privately run hotel than a chain. My very comfortable room had a sea view. My room service evening meal was bang on time, piping hot and tasy and my breakfast in the restaurant which also ovelooks the sea was perfect too. All of the staff I encountered were extremely friendly and polite. Would definitely stay here again

"great food fabulous location"
andy t, 12 Novembre 2015

Had a visit to the Holmwood hotel as a none resident for an evening meal with friends, we all agreed the food was excellent the restaurant interior was decorated to a very high standard with very comfortable seating. We found the staff very friendly and helpful, and should we visit Cowes again we would not hesitate to stay at the Holmwood. We would highly recommend a visit or stay at the Holmwood Cowes.

"Old fashioned but comfortable"
Xena W, 11 Novembre 2015

Very different to the Best Western in Oxford where I stayed the following weekend. Thus hotel seems to cater to an older clientele - what it has in its favour is its situation. It is right on the front with superb views and it was lovely to sit in the dining room and watch the ferries and cruise ships sail by. The food was excellent and the staff fantastic- very friendly and kind and helpful to disabled family member

"Great weekend stay made even better by the reception for our dog"
mikehaysey, 07 Novembre 2015

A classic 'I of W style" hotel in a fantastic location to tour the island and near to the ferry port. It was the first time our dog came with us & we needn't have been apprehensive as the reception we got was great. The staff are very attentive and friendly and the breakfast first class. We will certainly be returning when we next visit .

"Very pleasant stay"
Gill C, 02 Novembre 2015

This hotel has the most delightful position overlooking the solent. We were told that there was a wedding at the hotel so they will be noise until midnight......we were in room 25 and did not hear anything and both slept very well. Breakfast was also very good, and set us up for a busy day. Would quite happily recommend this for a stay.

"Weekend stay"
John E, 02 Novembre 2015

I have been going to the New Holmwood for many years for a monthly lunch gathering of an association on the Island. The food has always been excellent, and the roast potatoes are the best I have ever had! However, since selling our flat on the Island, my wife and I have stayed a couple of times, after the lunch, to make a weekend of it. It is an absolute pleasure to stay there. The staff are excellent - very welcoming, very obliging and attentive, and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are comfortable, clean and reasonably spacious, and there is comfortable lounge seating available. Despite a wedding and reception taking place during our recent stay, the very busy staff still managed to tend to our requests for drinks and food from the Lounge Menu ( a good alternative if you don't want the main Dining Room menu), without any undue delay. The only downside this time was the dodgy TV signal, which chose the time of the final of the Rugby World Cup to play up - lots of mutterings!! Fortunately the wi-fi signal was good, so we watched on the I-Pad. Overall though, a really good, friendly hotel. We will certainly be going back.

"Smashing Stay"
LizzienEric, 02 Novembre 2015

We stayed at The New Holmwood 31 October to 1 November as we were attending a family function. We received helpful information even before we arrived from the booking and a couple of the usual queries we make before arriving somewhere - all answered helpfully and efficiently. On checking in we were welcomed warmly efficiently and Claire was a total star the iron/board. The hotel is spotless. I'm a bit of a clean freak but it was faultless, so hat's off to all the team because it is everyone who makes this happen for the guests. Our room was a sea view room and what a view! Well worth paying a little more for - we enjoyed every second we spent looking out of the windows during our stay. We would pick that room again. The bathroom was huge with a lovely bath/shower. The bedroom was very large and extremely well equipped and the massive bed was very comfy. We would definitely return.

"A memorable and enjoyable stay"
Branananana, 26 Octobre 2015

The hotel staff here are superb and seem to go out of their way to make sure you feel well looked after. The rooms are comfortable, clean and a good size. Having an excellent restaurant on site is a bonus and i would have to recommend it for both breakfast and dinner. Hoping to return!

"October ( Dog Friendly )break"
casdan1962, 21 Octobre 2015

After reviewing a number of hotels on the island, the Best Western New Holmwood kept catching my eye and after booking and arriving via ferry organised by the hotel we knew we had made the right decision, we travelled over with our small dog and upon arrival were treated kindly and welcomed ,even being upgraded, our stay was made not only by the excellent weather but the friendliness of the staff to us and our four legged friend, the breakfast and the food we had whilst staying was outstanding and again all the staff seemed to be focused on being helpful and friendly to us and our dog, the views from the room and front were amazing, we have never seen so many boats/yacht,s, we have absoluteley no trouble recommending this hotel to anyone wishing to visit the Isle of Wight

"A Nice hotel"
rewphoor, 15 Octobre 2015

Great location, first class staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere and the food was excellent. Our stay was only marred on the last night by a clash of functions. The hotel residents were left to wait a significant length of time for dinner due to a function in a separate dining room. We waited so long, we gave up and ended up without our meal. The Manager was very apologetic and recompense was offered immediately and without hassle. We would go back but I before booking dinner I would ensure that no other functions were happening. Our room was also first class.

"Weekend Break"
William T, 05 Octobre 2015

Fantastic service from everyone we encountered! Nothing was too much trouble. We wish we had the evening meal there as the food that was delivered looked great. Room was comfortable. I wish we had been able to open the window on the ground floor, so I would say try and get a room on an upper floor.

"Good service, good food"
GWL1763, 03 Octobre 2015

A large family reunion lunch for 50 was well catered for with nicely prepared food that was hot and tasty. A lovely setting overlooking the Solent with caring and polite staff providing excellent service. With 3 courses at a shade over £20/head it was exceptional value too. And, it's just a 10 minute stroll from the foot passenger terminal at Cowes. I hope you my review helpful, thanks for reading.

"Really great care and so friendly with us and our dog"
Ivor W, 29 Septembre 2015

Our Yellow Lab, my wife & I (in our early 70s) stayed from 18 to 22.-09.15 (Room 28) - ideal for us and our dog. Nothing was too much trouble. Reception and service throughout were excellent. Food was fine and varied. We have never stayed in such a dog-friendly hotel before. Location and atmosphere were superb for us Will go back.

"Outstanding staff and location"
Jon E C, 28 Septembre 2015

The Isle of Wight is delightful and an easy 50 minute boat ride from Southampton. Easy boat ride and the staff came to pick us up after a long travel day and then went beyond all our expectations throughout our stay there. We have never had a better hotel experience and heartily recommend this hotel.

"DAZZLING STANDARDS AND EXAMPLE FOR ALL"
HAROLD D, 20 Septembre 2015

The Hotel offers the finest of accommodation, and the highest of standards .The staff competency is eye-catching ,warm and unparalleled.Nothing is too much to ask,.It would seem that the phrase "go the extra mile" was coined for this establishment. I am fortunate to have stayed in the worlds very finest hotels (I say this not to impress but to impress upon you only the yardstick used in comparing )and The New Holmwood has everything and more you would ever desire or need. They thrive on challenges and always rise to the occasion exceeding expectations . I strongly and unreservedly recommend this Hotel to one and all. Book early because I most probably will be competing for the very room you are after (only joking). Enjoy your stay.
