    « Tight but bright »

In Charleville Mezieres for the Puppetry Festival so always hard to get accommodation - I booked in advance through the Best Western website - all good. The challenge was knowing what room you are booking as the names don't seem to correspond to the actual room you get. This room only had two skylights - that automatically close when it rains - so tricky aircon becomes the only air. Light from skylights is good and the design is fun - if you get a bit claustrophobic - request a room with a window - I would if I stayed again. Rooms are regularly serviced and pod coffee and water supplied free. Didn't engage in the 13 Euro breakfast as there are plenty of great places to get pastries and quiche for breakfast nearby Staff are friendly and overall a very pleasant experience. Ear plugs are provided as you can hear the train station - but there are not that many trains anyway. Great to be able to walk to the station The other reviews are correct about the lack of privacy between the bathroom and bedroom - no air seal or noise seal There are communal spaces that have additional toilets if privacy is needed!! Great crazy fun designer hotel with comfy beds and good service

    « Good & quirky »

Good hotel, somehow doesn't feel like a chain hotel as it is relatively small and we only saw one staff member during our one night stay. Decent sized rooms, quirky design. Excellent location. Surprisingly the nearby railroad doesn't really cause any disturbance but you will hear it when other rooms use the shower of flush toilet (very annoying during the night). So-so breakfast but if you're fine with some cheese and ham, it'll be enough. Value is fine and there's cheap parking (6 eur for 24h) just across the street. Staff was great! The young lady who was working those two days was very helpful and nice. Excellent!

    « A most uncomfortable experience »

Arrived here with great expectations after spending the previous night in the wonderful Best Western hotel in Reims. Had booked a 'Poem' room - the most expensive. What is styled as being an en-suite room is in reality a room which is partially screened at one end by a concrete wall that doesn't reach the ceiling. The bed is in front of the wall and tat either side are what pass for sliding doors - slabs of cracked wood which cannot be fully closed because of the skirting board. One side has the loo - but no wash basin. The other an enormous bath with shower over. The arrangement is not much better than having a curtain screening the loo. One side of the bed had two lights and two bedside 'tables' (one of which resembled a hospitable bedside arrangement). The other side had neither table nor light. The two main room lights were placed on the wall on the bathroom side - at just the right height for a man of average build to bump his head on. There was no wardrobe - just a short rail, not far enough above what passed for a chest of drawers for a jacket to hung on properly. Breakfast was poor - little food and no one either clearing the debris from earlier guests nor refreshing the bread, pastries etc. The decoration (what some reviewers have called 'quirky') is post modernism run riot. The staff were certainly friendly and helpful, but how this hotel was awarded four stars is entirely beyond me.

The service provided by Benjamin (duty manager) was outstanding. The hotel location was very central and the facilities were excellent. Highly recommended and something very different to your standard accommodation.

« Looks good but flawed »

The result of form over function. A reasonably pleasant room (though dark) ruined by ridiculous controls for lighting and AC (light switches are placed on the wall for a reason; easy access) on a panel connected to one side of the bed. The AC was pathetic too and the overnight stay (fortunately only one) characterized by stuffiness and sweating. The only natural light was a rather dismal gloom that came from a central atrium - perhaps outer rooms are better served in that regard. A game of "hunt the drain plug" was required when taking a shower (I eventually had to remove a panel in the base of the bath to get it to drain) and the shower system itself required some construction before use. Locating the bath and the toilet more-or-less in the room may be a comfortable experience for some, but I would suggest that even the closest of companions require privacy at times and that having a poop is one of them.

Very modern hotel. My room was good size, comfortable bed, free wifi, flat TV. Clean and modern look on some areas not that much practical. Very helpfull staff, which was able to prepare very good sandwich and beer even I have arrived quite late around 11pm. Tastefull breakfast with good selection. Very close to train station and parking place opposite to hotel. I would recommend for short business trip.
