I and my family stayed overnight in this property. Shared facilities with Solea are huge and perfect for weekend getaway of the family. Sadly, we came on the day of their busiest. The place and the facilities are so crowded, events are everywhere (even until midnight music are still loud),you cannot feel any sense of peace! Rooms with terrace are spacious and comfortable only the problem that we notice in both of our rooms are the bathroom, water pressure are weak, and no glass or anything to stop the water from bathing floor to wash basin and bowl place which makes the whole area always wet. Breakfast is wide in variety and tempting in there well designed restaurant located in Solea. NOTE: Make sure to book a reservation with breakfast or else you will be paying 1200 per person in the restaurant. (which i found it so expensive for just a breakfast). Staff are accommodating and so helpful especially Ms. Marnelli of reservations. She is very professional and efficient. We've got a misunderstanding upon my arrival regarding extra person but she figure out and given me the most considerate decision with regards to it, so i highly commend her for that together with the lady reception staff who checked me in ( i just forgot her name) who just heard my concern at her best. Timing of our stay is not just perfect, But overall our overnight stay was pleasant will definitely come back but not in the same season.
The resort is nice and value for money, food are not that expensive. My family enjoyed the pool and salt water man made lagoon. This place perfect for family occasions and corporate team building. Kudos!
My wife and I took our three young kids (younger than 7) to this resort. We enjoyed our stay. The staff were helpful and they had a baby crib they moved into the room. The restaurant also had a high chair which was helpful. The pools with waterslides were the big hit along with the splash park. Few things to keep in mind: - The owner owns Solea resort which has combined grounds with Best Western. When we checked in, the receptionist initially mentioned we would have to pay to use the other pools that are more on the Solea side. I said that was ridiculous! After I disputed this, she rechecked the reservation and said we could use them. - Key thing to note though, the owner seems to be putting more focus and resources into the Solea resort - Beach. They have a beach and when the tide goes out you see a lot of seaweed. It's not a swimming beach, but the kids had a lot of fun playing with the hermit crabs and they saw a sea cucumber. - There's a small island off the beach a fisherman built and charges people to go to. It is unaffiliated with the resort and wouldn't recommend going. - Food is good, but the resort caters principally to Koreans so lots of Korean food. Synthetic juices - nothing fresh and no fresh mangoes even though you're in Cebu! Recommendations for the Owner: - Don't "nickel and dime" people. We had a good time because we weren't "nickel and dimed" - The floors in the dining area are "oily" recommend some way to keep them clean - Don't charge people to use the obstacle course. Looked like fun, but the price was too steep so we didn't try it. - Include mangoes on the fruit menu. It's Cebu for crying out loud - no mangoes?!
The place is awesome! Pools are huge, way enough to accomodate not just guests checked in but also walk-ins and day-use guests. The place is good for hosting team building also as it has enough space for activities. I will definitely come back to check in. So to experience their service more.
We spent our weekend here with my daughter. We were so happy to experience the warmth welcome of their staff. They have another hotel in the area which is also accessible even if you are checked in at Best Western. Overall, our experience is amazing and we felt very satisfied from our experience; the food, ambiance, everything!
I really feel that we just wasted our money on this hotel. The hotel is located next to SOLEA. We arrived at the area 10pm, guard assigned at the gate asked for our room number, I have to inform him twice that we just came and are going to check in. On their website, there's a note that there is nearby construction noise. Be aware that the beach area and some part of the hotel is under construction! No beach. No sandbar. I couldnt even described the room assigned to my friend - bathroom, bedsheets. Not sure what is wrong with the Lady at the front desk as she keeps on forgetting our request. The only good with our stay is that breakfast is served in SOLEA and since majority of the guests there are Korean so the food selection is good. I think if we are Korean then they will treat us nicely.

Hi mac-dxb, We would like to understand what happened during your stay with us. We would have wanted to address this incident while you were still staying in the resort so we could have make things right and that you left the resort with a happy heart. Please send us your complete name and other contact information so we can probe on the matter and call out the employees mentioned on your review. Thank you. Best regards, Shing Lo Public Relations Manager
Taxi drivers out of the airport don't know this location. TMoblie for Americans has service so i could give him google map directions, but it was still frustrating. Not the hotels fault. The hotel room is awesome! Great view! Not much around the area, so you have to pay the an extra 100 peso to call a taxi...whatever. They have two slides in the pool area, but not enough water pressure to make them worthwhile. I mean seriously, why have a slide in the first place? The room was awesome and spacious. Great water pressure! Staff was friendly and accommodating. If you have to smoke, you go across the parking lot to solea.
Stayed in this hotel on my birthday with my girlfriend and it was so perfect. The place is so romantic and elegant yet so affordable. Its the best place for lovers and families to go on vacation. Loving the sunset and sunrise while walking on the beach with friendly people around. One thing that I can describe to this resort is "perfect."
Really enjoyed our stay in Best Western, only complaint, it was too short ! Beautiful room, friendly staff, great food and beautiful walks on the place. We will definitely return for a longer stay in the near future .
love this resort, Delighted with the service of all the staff here, great place great ambiance and great stay ever. Kudos to the front office staff, who give us the service with gratitude. The place were full of tress and the scenery is perfect for what I want. Definitely, will be back and will recommend this to all of my friends.
Stayed for an overnight in this hotel with my husband and daughter celebrating our wedding anniversary. The moment we arrived we already felt the warm welcome from the staffs, check-in was fast eventhough we arrived earlier than the standard check-in time, the room was bigger than i thought and very clean and the buffet breakfast was great! We were also surprised by their complimentary anniversary cake which adds more to our extraordinary experience throughout the stay.
Nice place with a beautiful view . Staff were very accommodating and approachable,First time staying in a resort and it was such a wonderful experienced wherein me and my friend enjoyed so much.Rooms very spacious and clean , foods were very classic and delicious , and most especially we are satisfied with there service , Good staff keep on giving good customer service to all .
Nice place for a family outing but with limited things to do. Room was hot, there was no option in the aircon controller to change the temperature. It was set at 24 degrees. Nice pools but not properly maintained and needs cleaning. Beach area wasn't as good. Towels were old. And our bed covers were dirty on the sides, I dont think they changed it or not properly cleaned. One star for customer service. Their HD should do a better job, they called my room because my guest swam in their pool (it was my husband - the registered name in the hotel). Better to stay on the resort beside it since they also own it anyway.
As a family of 3adults, 2toddlers and 4 teens, we all enjoyed our over night stay here! Stylish, clean and spacious room. They have plenty of safe and kid friendly pools, lifeguards everywhere! Friendly and accommodating staffs. The only not so good thing about this resort is the restaurant, small venue, flies everywhere and food are cold already ??. Other than that everything was great!
A good friend of mine recommended this Hotel and i give it a try?? Honestly, i didn't expect much coz i was thinking that the service and facilities is not good. But they proved me wrong! We arrived around 12 noon, no room ready yet(we understand that checkin starts at 3pm) and the front dest staff have explained it nicely with smile?? (sad to say i forgot his name) and we were told that we can register first and they will prioritize 1 room for me and while waiting i can enjoy the facilities of the resort. -The staff were very attentive and they anticipate the needs of their guest. -clean room with nice view -Pool attendants were very attentive. -good breakfast -good place to unwind! To the front desk staff, keep up the good work and keep delighting your guest! Will visit again soon.... Thank you!
A big thumbs up to the management of this beautiful resort. Starting from the reservations who was very attentive and witty, good job to you! And when we arrived at the resort we were greeted with smiling staff from the guards to the front office receptionist. Our check in was easy and fast. The bellman had carried our luggages while leading the way. It was of great help since i have two children with me. The room was very clean and smells of fresh sheets. What i like the most is the very beautiful sea view from our balcony. Over all me and my family had enjoyed our stay here and i highly recommend this resort!
One of the best resort in Mactan, best quality service, best quality ambiance, best quality food and best quality staff, come and enjoy. When we arrive we were meet by the duty manager herself. I recommend people to stay in this hotel. It's worth the penny! Certainly one of the best resort
As i visited the resort for a day user together with my family and friends, I find it beautiful. The staff are very accomodating and they served delicious food. I really like their swimming pool because it is very clean. We had a lot of fun there.
I have the chance to stay in this hotel. At the moment when I arrive, I feel welcomed and the staff helped a lot. They are very polite and helpful. The beach view of our room is really nice. As my experience staying in different hotel and giving them comments and points I would say a three stars hotel there's still progress to do. However, I recommend people to stay in this hotel.
We stayed in this hotel in august. Very expensive for a no beach hotel. Noisy construction on going. The pool has a lot of dried leaves and insects. Toilet flash is sometimes not working. The shower is very slow. The faucet is broken. Very cheap built hotel. Hidden expenses after check-out is ridiculously expensive. They asked us to pay 3500 for a small stain on the bedsheet. I dont recommend this hotel.
The resort is good, nice pool, sunbeds, and food. You dont really get to experience anything that has to do with the fillipines, since the resort is very western. But everhthing is great if you want to swim in a pool (not the ocean) and eat westernly food (not phillipine food)
have spent the birthday of my friend in the resort. service is not so good, you need to wait for how many minutes before your request will be taken care of. staffs in the pool are not friendly, they don't even smile at all. we were very disappointed when we ordered halo-halo, taste is so bad, not sweet and it's like a juice as crashed ice has melt already. overall, not satisfied
Swimming pools are excellent, the rooms are clean and well lit.The beach area is poor. After checking in we found a number of minor items that needed attention, and all bar the poor wifi in the room were rectified very quickly ( Room safe not reset, Non flushing WC, No Tea Bags) The restaurant at Sand Bar does not serve lunch, (the adjoining Solea hotel serves lunch). Breakfast at Sand Bar is OK, reasonable choice for all tastes. Dinner is also ok and reasonably priced for a resort hotel. Lunch at Solea a little expensive and very slow service, Prawn and Mango salad delicious. Cocktails well priced If using the infinity pool at adjoining Solea watch out for the sudden change of depth which along with the steps is not clearly marked. The pool attendents are much less attentive than the excellent attendents at Sand Bar
this is a coren hotel. all tourist are corean or the most of them. hotel not bad. but beach is very bad. you can nit swim there. pool ok. breackfast weak. wifi weak. staff very slow but everywhere in the phillipines they are very slow. no good restaurants or beaches around the hotel. stary avay from cebu. go to borcay better.
This was the last hotel we visited at the end of a month long trip in the Philippines and by far the worst of our stay. We were expecting a chilled beach resort with good amenities but this couldn't be further from the truth. Room- quite good, spacious, bright and clean but sadly that was the only positive. There is no beach, just a construction site where I can only assume they are attempting to create a man made beach. Food- "Waves" restaurant is terrible and hugely over priced. The breakfast was all covered in flies with some of the worst selection of food I have ever seen. We ate lunch in the Earth restaurant at the Solea which was better but service was extremely slow. Location- the two hotels are in the middle of no where with no other food alternatives nearby. Also, no taxi drivers know where the hotel is so if you do venture about 20-30 mins outside of the hotel in search of some life. Also if you want a taxi to go anywhere, be prepared to wait half an hour as no taxis service this area regularly. Service- in general, most of the staff seem bored and uninterested with very little awareness or appreciation for customer service. We ended up paying for day passes at the Movenpick resort for the day and the two resorts couldn't be further apart. We were only day guests at Movenpick but the staff could not do enough for us. They were extremely helpful, attentive and regularly asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything. We were never asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything at the best western. The hotel has a very long way to go if it wants to compete with other hotels in Mactan, or in the Philippines in general.
We found the staff to be extremely helpful. Always polite and willing to help in any way that could. My wife fell sick whist in Cebu, when we reported it to the hotel, the (hotel) in-house nurse looked after us. The hotel also organised a trip to the doctors. I highly recommend this hotel. Will not hesitate to stay again if ever in Cebu. Thank you for looking after us Cebu Sand Bar Resort.
had a weeks stay at this resort was still being finished off so will be even better then i had room near the pool side and was very private the service there was great and was nice place to unwind value for money
We booked a function and a room at this place and we were pleasantly surprised. The view is simply breathtaking. As far as your eyes can see, the ocean, the sky and on the other side the mountains. The landscape, the amenities, the rooms are superb. What makes this 5 star experience special is that they do not, at this moment, charge an arm and a leg for the luxury of just basking in the sun. One downside though, there is no decent beach. Up ahead one can see fishing grounds. I will definitely come back and I might even check the locals gathering seashells.
BestWestern Sandbar in Cordova, Cebu is a nice place to be with when looking for a cozy yet affordable venue for your visit in Cebu! Although the CR in our room isn't ventilated but the staff is accommodating and friendly :)
We stayed in solea resort which is newly built by bestwestern sandbar resort. Worst thing is some room still under construction. so corridor is dirty. Room service is very late. And staffs are lazy. But they are kind and concernless. we can use all the facilities of sandbar resort. Secenary is nice other 2 family have so many complain about room. They told there are too many ant and bad room condition & bad smell all other people give 1 or 2 point out of 5. I can give 3 point but all other people does not satisfy.
I brought my wife, her son, and her niece for 2 nights and the kids loved it. They had already asked to come back while we were there ! The restaurant has better Filipino food than other reviews let on but avoid the American food for example the burger had bad chopped meat with foreign objects. Same price for room service and both available 24/7. The breakfast was nothing to write home about either my family said 1st day was full of Filipino workers and 2nd day full of Korean tourist groups. I skipped it as it's given in the adjoining Solea resort still under construction and too far to walk for a disabled visitor. There is no beach only a manmade "lagoon" which was really a fish pond and not suitable for Westerners to swim being too shallow. I didn't use the nice looking main pool because there were no apparent access points for a disabled person
we were here because we want to try a new resort and this resort was so cheap compared to other neighboring resort in marigondon but i find it dirty especially there bathroom. lot of things need to be done in this resort. food was great from there so called ocean restaurant but flies are flying while u dine. staff was so so, facilities not so much.
Just had a great Best western and Solea experience. Great service, good food and a spectacular pool! Faster internt, very relaxing place. Thanks a lot Joana! Best Mactan getaway for your weekend!will surely comeback. Keep up the good job.
I came to Cebu was because of the beautiful beaches and it's crystal clear water. Chose this hotel because it said the hotel provides snorkeling and diving. I checked in on Sunday afternoon around 3pm. Immediately after I checked in, I went to find out more about snorkeling and diving, but there was no one working. I checked with the receptionists, non of them knows anything. On Monday morning around 8:30, I went to check again, still no one working. So I went to take a quick bite of breakfast, and came back at 9:10. At least the staff is working. After checking the details, I decided to take the island hopping snorkeling trip, she told me I'm too late as the trip departed at 9am, also, I need to pre- book for the trip. My goodness, how can I pre book were no one was working the day before. Even if I don't have to pre book, it will be too late for me as the staff only came at 9:00. There is nothing much to do in this hotel beside swimming pool. No beach. If I want to swim in the pool, I don't have to spend my time and money to Cebu. The hygiene of the restaurant is terrible. You will be eating your food with one hand and the other hand is busy in chasing away flies. Most of the food at breakfast buffet was not replenished even I went there around 8:30am. There is nowhere you can have your food beside the hotel restaurant. No shops nor restaurants around the hotel premise. (Is a hotel out of nowhere) No taxi unless you get the reception to call for you. Need to pay additional 100 peso on top of meter. From hotel to the nearest town takes at least one hour as the traffic jam is very bad. The hotel wifi is very bad. I chose the hotel wifi but waited for the page to key in password for more than an hour. Finally, the IT guys helped me with the hotel admin wifi. It's very unstable wifi and very slow. Overall, the hotel is value for nothing. If you are looking for beach RESORT, it's not advisable to choose this hotel nor the sister hotel next to it. I will not come back even for free.
We've enjoyed our stay with my cousins here at Best Western Sandbar Resort. The hotel meet our expectation just aside from the brown grass due to hot summer. Nevertheless We still love the view as we enjoyed our groupies??selfies?? Food is great and most of all, staffs are very accommodating. We'll surely recommend this place to our friends. "A must try".??
The hotel's rooms are quite small, as well as the breakfast area/restaurant and lobby. The pool however is good. They want to sell their lagoon but I wouldn't want to swim in the lagoon because sometimes, it smells bad. They still have no shuttle going to the city and you have to wait for a cab that they will call (additional Php100 on top of metered fare).
For a resort that has been in operation for around 3 years, I find it very dis-courteous to the guests that there is no in-house transport service,or security at the check in/reception area.As far as the general surroundings go the outside supposedly grassed areas are poorly maintained and nearly non existent, walkways between the new and old buildings are very badly formed and dangerous to walk on. Not a lot of consideration is given to keeping the lifts clean and tidy, and keeping the floors of them dry of water from guests using the pools then going to their rooms without drying themselves off.The lack of staff at breakfast leaves a lot to be desired when the place is busy and heavily booked. The quality of the food being served is not to the standard which is expected of an establishment using the Best Western name. The rooms are ok,but, not what you would expect from Best Western. The shower hot water was good,BUT,you could not add cold water to it to make it useable.Water would not drain away from the shower floor or the hand basin after using them. The bed was comfortable, but could have been a lot better. All staff were doing the best that they could with very little help and encouragement from senior management. It is apparent by the lack of the "little things",wifi internet, in the finishing off of the room decoration and the landscaping, that management dont have the drive to make this average resort into something that could be worth a second,or more, trip(s).It is somewhere that will not get any recommendation from me.
There is a building still under construction. The man made lagoon was nice. The amenities was good. The pool is nice. The service is not so good because the waitress didn't even know how to answer our questions regarding the menu. The food was great.
I visited the place last week and stayed for 2 nights. The resort itself is a stress reliever. The view from our room is so photogenic where you will be able to capture the Cordova sea and their swimming facilities. Perfect place to relax and enjoy the wonders of creation and the goodness of God. The building located next to Sandbar has a very inviting infinity pool.
I got this resort information from my friend who had stayed in the resort for 2 days. And i find it interesting since all her comments were all good. So i decided to to book a room just for a night to find out if it was really true! Hell Yeah! i got a great experience! One think i got so hooked up was the "Mesmerizing Scenic View" from the lagoon area towards the resort building. i got a lot of perfect pictures with my selfies on it! Especially when around 5-6 pm when the sky is getting magenta. it was really a perfect scene. I felt like i was in a place somewhere out in the Philippines. I hope they will keep this prefect view once i will back again to have my Oh-So-Alone vacation trip.
An hour to an hour and a half away from Cebu city, this resort is conveniently hidden by a myriad of roads. Location wise, its a touch away from the city but a shuttle was ready for us in the airport to take us to what i call a hidden paradise. Upon arriving at the hotel, me and my friends were greeted with a very accommodating staff who were able to check us in to our rooms very quickly. The rooms were all quite spacious and clean and we were actually lucky enough to be given a room at the higher levels. Lucky because the view from up there was absolutely beautiful. The design of the building is quite different from other hotels such that it sports a kind of industrial aura with its high and open ceilings(You can see the pipes). Its different but the simplicity gives it a very homely feel. There were currently 1 Pool and 1 lagoon ready for swimming and other recreational activities available such as a volleyball area, kayaking and more. There was even a large chess area(Human Size) which definitely piqued my interest. The food was great for the price. Compared to other resorts i would definitely say it was a bit on the cheaper side, so that's a plus for them. The only gripe i had was the construction of a new building beside the hotel, In some times of the day, the noise was a bit distracting but overall not a deal breaker. I would love to come back next time especially when everything is finished already as i had such a lovely time.
7 rooms were booked by our company almost a week before. On the day we arrived, we were informed by Shiela that the hotel was fully booked, yes, fully booked and we have confirmed booking. They tried to bump us off when the hotel clearly wasn't fully booked. A few days prior, we were informed by Shiela that as a Best Western Sandbar guest, we can only make use of the Sandbar facilities, however, if we were Solea guests, we can avail of the facilities of both Best Western Sandbar and Solea. Which makes me wonder, is Solea also a Best Western hotel? We did not want to stay at Solea as it is a construction site. Does it even have an occupancy permit from the Office of the Building Official? Service was terrible. If you order your food at the restaurant (which had "busted" airconditioning), you'd better just ask for water since that's what you will be facing for nearly 2 hours. Our corporate officers waited for nearly 30 minutes for their drinks and the waiter was clearly drunk at around 10'oclock in the morning. A simple order of pizza was served cold since the servers forgot to serve it 20 minutes after it was ready. This was portent of things to come. Room service is as slow as molasses. Nearly 2 hours waiting for your food to arrive is just not what I had expected from this so-called resort. I've had better service at smaller resorts with a less personnel and at 100% occupancy. WIFI is nearly useless. Most of the staff were clearly confused. Even billing was confused, and nearly charged the company for another group which had their own booking. Their so-called conference had an administration office next to it. How can a corporation have a meeting next to one of their admin offices where people can walk in through important and confidential meetings? This Best Western Sandbar is a franchise. I'm sure after the franchise expires, the entire place will be called Solea. There is nothing Best Western about it, there is nothing best about it. Food is overpriced and the quality and quantity is low. I will not be visiting there anymore as this hotel and so-called resort is clearly mismanaged. Management just does not care for their guests who are looking for a nice experience.
Very nice place and excellent view for taking pictures..We enjoyed our stay even for just day used..My daughter had a great time with the slide..Though their restroom and shower room is not clean and no water coming out from the shower nor in the faucet.
On March 31, I initially reserved for one room. I was told I was gonna receive an email within that day but never did. The next day, I booked for an additional room and told the agent I never got her email. So in total, I booked for two rooms with the same agent. She told me she will be sending it again that day. I reiterated to her before our conversation ended that I was getting two rooms. And she confirmed and did send me one but the confirmation was for only one room. I did not mind this and thought she was gonna send me another confirmation for the second room but never got one. On the day of check in, we only had one room. I told the front desk it was fine for us to wait for the second room. It was fine with me but I was just wondering what happened with my conversation with the reservation agent. She probably did not hear me right. Luckily, housekeeping was quick and we had the second room in no time. The staff are very approachable and are always ready to assist you. The servers all helped sing a happy birthday song for my Mom during breakfast. My nephew loved seeing all the fish and the sea turtles and kept on going back to the small white hut where they are fed. The pool slide was a bit old and its stairs are a bit dirty and needs fixing. There was also no proper slope/way going to the bridge by the lagoon if you are coming from the breakfast area. There were just spiky stones right by the SAND BAR sign. The breakfast was good. Although it would have been better if there was a station for just drinks (hot & cold) for people like me who bring my own tea and like to make my own coffee to freely pour. Also, the pancakes station could have used whipped/butter cream. The breakfast area was small and had poor lighting. You could bump into someone if you walk in between tables. The receptionist was very nice but the papers on her table were very distracting and not nice to look at. But maybe for a hungry guest, that would not be noticed much. We also had a late lunch at the same place and there were big flies around. However superb our server was, there was one thing I was sad about. I ordered a mocktail that said had fresh orange juice but received a powdered juice drink instead. There were still undissolved powder floating on top. I am just very particular with the little things. And I think it's the details that make the difference. These are just little things that I noticed. I'm sure it wouldn't take much to improve them. But the bigger picture was we enjoyed our stay, had a good sleep in the comfy beds and spacious rooms, and had a fine time in the pools and the lagoon. This place is indeed an escape from the city. The family is definitely coming back when my Dad comes home. And we'll see what he thinks of the place then.
We loved everything about our stay. From the warm welcome at the front desk, the surprise birthday cake during dinner at Waves Restaurant, and the room upgrade. ?? Special thanks to Ms. Joana Abangan for arranging our short stay and making it memorable. Will recommend to friends and family. The room, food and service was great ??
I traveled to a number of hotels and resorts in the country but only Sand Bar has the best service and accommodation. Food was great especially the breakfast. Internet was so fast that even on my comfort room it still has the signal. It was an awesome experience that money couldn't buy. Thanks Best Western Sand Bar Resort. It was a memorable vocation for me and my family.
I was invited by a friend to have a weekend beach escapades in this lovely resort and the place was beautiful and scenic specially the area near to there new building hotel that was named SOLEA I can say its awesome when construction is totally done the staff are accommodating thanks to them that is something special also when we had our dinner at the restaurant the cats are all over it adds a concept that this resort is also an animal and pet friendly resort and please take note on this one the food are savory with low price I will recommend to my friends.
With its massive place in terms of land area, there is so much work to be done for this resort since it's new (like installing additional recreational facilities to maximize the space). In terms of service, we never had any difficult time as the staff were efficient. Although there were little delays in our order (food) but the reasons are all acceptable as we were in the pool side when the order was made and the food had to be prepared in the main kitchen which is a bit far from where we are.
Me and my friends decided to go to the resort and avail their day use. 2 to 3 days before our arrival, we called to the customer service and ask if they have corkage if we bring a cake and chips since we are celebrating a birthday. The lady on the phone (we forgot to ask her name) told us that cake and chips have no corkage fee except for drinks and alcohol beverages. On the day of our arrival, the security guard at the lobby held us up and told us that the cake has corkage fee. We told him that we called earlier and the staff told us that it has no corkage fee, so the guard let us in. There's no consistency on their rules. Those guards must know their policies. Checking in was fast and the front desk staffs were friendly and accommodating. We then checked the area, it was nice, private, and uncrowded. The pool is not so big and is suited more for kids since it's only 2 to 4 feet. We then decided to have lunch on their restaurant. The restaurant is not so spacious. We are then greeted by a waiter named Ramil who is very accommodating and helpful to us. Since we brought a cake, he offered us to let the cake be refrigerated while we had our lunch to keep it chilled. We ordered a lot and I can say the food is fine. Their fruit shakes were also very refreshing. We then ask the waiter to serve the cake for our dessert. We then went and explore the beach area. The landscaping was good but when we check the water it was disappointing. There's a lot of tiny black sea shells on the beach. You can literally felt like roughness of those shells and a little bit of sharp pain while stepping on it when you decide to swim. The land beneath their beach is made of cement instead of sand/land and it's slippery because of the seaweeds growing on it. It's scary and dangerous. It's not even crystal-clear water. Their seashore was also made of cement but just poured sand all over it to make it look natural. Overall, I can say their beach is disappointing. And I wouldn't recommend anyone to swim on it. We then head back to the pool area and decide to swim there instead. We ordered drinks and it took them forever to serve it. I guess it's about 30mins to an hour waiting time just to serve the beers. Is it too heavy to just get it on fridge and hand it to us? The pool area was near the restaurant. I understand mine cause I ordered a cocktail so it will take time for the bartender to make it, but for the rest of my friends, they just ordered beer and it took like forever. And even when we asked for a glass of water, they took nearly 30 minutes just to serve it to us. We can't really understand why. When in fact they don't have a lot of inhouse guest and it's not busy. Or maybe they are just understaffed. After our drinks have been served, we decided to order a halo-halo special to compensate the summer heat. And as expected, our order took nearly an hour and a half to be served. And the worst part is, the Halo-Halo they serve is tasteless! Not sweet, no flavor, not creamy, taste like plain water, NOT WORTHY OF THE MONEY WE SPENT. Its even expensive! Streetside Halo-Halo is much better than what they had. We asked for an additional sugar & milk to make the taste a little acceptable but "their kitchen" as said by the waitress, told us that they only give out milk. We specifically asked for SUGAR & milk but they only gave us milk and cant give out sugar. Why wouldnt they give us sugar???!! We are really getting a little irritated by their service but we kept calm since ALL OF US HAS BEEN HOTELIERS FOR YEARS BEFORE, so we basically know the runs and abouts of the resort. But still, they should give the outmost service at all times regardless of what or whos guests it is. Also, the pool attendant assigned on amshift was a little arrogant. We didnt complaint while were their coz we dont want to make a scene and ruin our mini vacay birthday celebration. Their shower rooms has no adequate showers! Out of 5 showers rooms, only 1 is available and functional but with a low water pressure. It would took you forever just to rinse your hair. They also dont have an automatic flush, so you need to use the pail and tabo to flush when using the toilet. No locks on the bathroom/toilet doors too. Dirty floors and no good lighting. So i hope the management will look into it and other travellers might also learned something from our experience. I don't im ever gonna go back to this resort. Kudos to Ramil, the waiter we had at the restaurant for accomodating us and treating us well. Unlike the others who just treat well to foreign guests. They should train more people like him.
Hotel was great, rooms were perfect size. View was fantastic. Staffs were very polite. Building looks a little lacking in finishing. Pools were amazing and the bay too. Bathroom had that oil stain on the shower area and the shower curtain was dirty at the bottom seams. The light outside the room was broken and not fixed. Could not see any visible manager or managing around. The last night they had a big outdoor function which took its toll on the breakfast the next day, tired staffs and incomplete and cold buffet. Suggest that they should have an internal transport due to its remoteness and the surcharge by call taxis and time wasting. Wifi was a little effy.
My 2nd time around to treat my wife and kids age 4 and 7 in this same resort because they love the rooms, location, garden, amenities, and specially the kids swimming pool. The buffet breakfast was great as well. Lots of things to do like biking and even just strolling around the place is great.
Staff were excellent; so polite and kind. The room was great. It was neat, clean, spacious and had a modern vibe. Though the shower didn't work properly. At times, there was too much hot water, at times too much cold and other times, there weren't any water at all. I requested for a room on the higher floors, and omg the view was sooo good! Our stay included buffet breakfast which means we had to pay for lunch and dinner. The food were a bit pricey compared to the other resorts that we stayed in. It'd be best to travel here if you have your own vehicle as the location of the resort is quite remote. This was a bit unfortunate for us as we only travelled through taxi and thet we had to pay an extra 100php every time we asked for a taxi. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this resort, just a let down on the location as we had to pay more than usual for the taxi.
Location: You need a map or a guide in getting there. The location is far from the main road. Rate: Day use package: Php 700 during weekends which includes a lunch buffet (without drinks) * 2 swimming pools, one adult and one kid pool as well as a couple of slides * Wide area for team buildings Such a relaxing place away from the busy streets and noisy crowd. You get to enjoy the pools as well as the beach. *beautifully landscaped... indeed picturesque :) I recommend this resort and would definitely go back.
Accommodation first class clean tidy and nicely presented.Good comfortable bed shower and bathroom nicely fitted . Pool clean and well cared for by the pool attendants who are always on call and available and very helpfull if you need assisstance as in our particular case.
Me and my family celebrated and attended the gala night for new years eve in this resort. All the staff was very friendly and accomodating. The venue and foods was great. We really had fun and enjoyed the night. I would like to thank Marnelli one of the staff member who personally helped us from booking the tickets for us and helping us booked a room. Thank you!!!
A resort that will surely give you a superb experience. They have exceeded our expectations from hotel reservations, group checkin and checkout, to staff service. The food was really impressive - very sumptuous! Intricate and creative resort furnitures and room interiors - 'the best! Resort is very safe for children. Joana Abangan, Rooms Manager was very accommodating. She made sure that all our concerns are properly addressed and well taken care of. Indeed, an asset to the resort.
Getting to the hotel was a bit tough and when I called the hotel for directions to give the taxi driver, they gave me the wrong directions causing the trip to be twice as long taxi fare to double as well. It's in the middle of nowhere and far from restaurants so try to bring your own cooked meal if you don't like their food in their restaurant. The hotel ground is huge so walking with a love one can be called private. Staff were very accommodating. Rooms were spacious with balconies that looks over the beach, pool and trees. Sink in the bathroom were very clogged and had to keep asking for maintenance. Bathroom lock wouldn't work well because of the sliding door alignment were off. Wifi didn't work at all so we couldn't post pictures to brag about the place. Kayaks were available for rent. Restaurant was a little too small, hard to get a seat for dinner for two but food were great. Breakfast was oh so delicious though! Plenty of choices but still hard to get seating. Check out took awhile than expected due to miscommunications between the hotel and my agency so I was overcharged.
The Hotel is on the Beach and good for Adults an Childrens. The Breakast is ok but not very special. Not good access to Internet. The Transport from the City on by Taxi which makes the trip to the Hotel expensive
A very nice venue for 1st Christmas Party. Large open space with good size pool , A salt water lagoon where everyone went canoing furthering relaxing atmosphere. Two large tents were set up for our table & buffet , large that some parlor games were done under the tents. The food though has lots to be desired specially we are from a resto business, next time we'll request all barbeque n grilled dishes, we brought lechon, no corkage ! Other parlor games were in thd open field so we can laugh as loud as we can, some almost died laughing when the "Talong" was severed( see pictures he he) The resort in abt 15 mins away from Cordova town proper. We came by our own vehicles, but almost all transport services ahould know the place. You can bring chicherya without corkage. The wind keeps the place cool..(but a bit hot in the morning till say 4 pm on summer days) Facilities inclufing shower, dressing and comfort roms are well maintained.Staff are generally friendly. Guest can request for taxi from outside with a little waiting. We will definitely come back....HIGHLY REVCOMMENDED!
I would have to say that there are better beach resorts in the Philippines around the same price range. For 5K+, you can book an overnight accommodation at Best Western Sand Bar Resort with a view of either the parking lot or, if you're lucky, the pool. The resort is well-maintained and the rooms clean. Although not spacious, you are provided all the basic amenities that a resort usually offers. The staff is also friendly and well-trained. They smile and greet you a lot. It reminds me of the hospitality of the Pearl Farm staff. During our visit, they were constructing this other resort building just right beside Best Western.I expected that there would be a lot of noise, but this was not the case. A few things that bothered me was the slow drain in the shower and how they turn off the hot water at night. Aside from this, I would recommend Best Western if you are looking for a beach resort in Mactan.
I normally don't write reviews because who has the time to write them anyways? But after my stay in Sand Bar Resort, I just knew that I had to let other people know my experience. My boyfriend and I decided to check in to this resort, foregoing our usual stay at the other resorts in Mactan. We wanted to try something new and with all the reviews saying that it had a superb view, it certainly didn't disappoint. First of all, the price was the greatest selling point because we got it at a discounted rate (we just checked their facebook account) We got a room with a great view overlooking the green landscape although much of it still wasn't done but what the heck, at the price they gave us, the construction at the side wasn't too much of a problem. Second, the service. For some reason, everyone who passed us by, always had a smile and greeting for us which helped made the stay even more enjoyable. It definitely did not come without its faults. The "lagoon" right smack in the middle was greener than green when we visited although management said it was because of the algae which they were still trying to filter out. So I'm hopeful that they can fix this during our next visit. So definitely, no beach for us. Wading at the beach side was enough but we couldn't swim in the lagoon although they had kayaks around which was also fun. I definitely recommend this place to people who want to try something new and for those who are open to new experiences. Oh! and get a room with the garden view, the pool is kinda more private and they have these sun beds on the pool which was really great.
Hotel Looks Great according brochure. I don't know about they building new hotel next door, noise all day as construction, pool area good, but no real beach, dirty water with swimming plastics all around, instead of sandy beach all concrete,First day no water pressure for shower, need many hours to fix. I can't recommend as also far from city.
It does take a bit of time to get to, and cab drivers not familiar with location. We did get there. Rooms face pool and door faces entrance. Food is good and staff was great. They are still working on lagoon and when second hotel is finished it will be more impressive. Pool looks great. If looking for outside adventures there is small town close by.
I like that it's isolated and the lagoon and beach is a good feature. Most of all, the staff is very friendly and always helpful. They anticipate every guest's needs and listen very carefully. I admire the chef who prepares their food who has passion in what he creates-I've even engaged in speaking to him during every meal! Front desk personnel are also well-trained, the concierge always greets guests with a smile. Food is great, I like that breakfast is always in a buffet. I'll do a separate review in my own site under the travel section. Thank you to Ms Jonabel, Sir Fran and Chef Brendo for making us feel at home. I will definitely come back to unwind soon.
We stayed at one of their Executive Suites on the 6th floor and the early morning view was spectacular! Everything was spacious except for the balcony which was really fine. Staff are very friendly, food are affordable and delicious. Breakfast buffet was awesome. Lots of food to choose from! We did not get to eat a lot though because the kids were too excited to go back swimming! We missed the fish feeding activity but the kids had a lot of fun running around the sand bar and swimming on the pool.
My hubby and I searched for a place for his vacation, and a friend suggested Best Sand Bar Resort. So we visited here last saturday October 17,2015 and really it reached our expectations! The place was cool not to mention the courteous and friendly hotel staff and crews, and the room?wow! it's clean and neat, and the view is superb as we are located on the garden pool area, we love and enjoyed the pool...the free buffet breakfast were amazing. The restaurant crew? oh they're very attentive to our needs, they made us feel like VIP's hehehe...it was fun being here...we are looking forward to our next vacation here together with the rest of the family and hoping that the constructions will soon be finished to make this place the paradise of cordova! Thank You Best Western Sand Bar Resort for making our vacation the BEST! Congratulations! Keep up the Good Work u started!
I visited here in late September 2015 with a friend and absolutely loved the place. The rooms are modern and clean. The staff was super friendly and helpful [especially Rose at the front desk and Vince in the restaurant]. The bed was comfortable, the view was great, TV worked good, the in-room safe worked well, the in-room refrigerator was nice, the pools were fun and clean and well maintained, shower had plenty of water pressure and hot water. The hotel is somewhat remote compared to others, but the restaurant served tasty food and at a VERY reasonable price. For example, 2 entree's w/ 2 non-alcoholic drinks was less than 700 PHP. That affordable price takes away the need to travel outside the resort for food. Expect to pay about 300 PHP for a taxi to/from the airport or about 400 PHP plus from downtown Cebu City to this resort. ONLY thing that needs major improvement is the in-room internet.... really unusable a majority of the time. It is better slightly in the restaurant area. Started to give it only 4 stars because of that, but really enjoyed everything else so much I give it 5 anyhow. I would also suggest that the room behind the office be turned into an air conditioned waiting lobby / business center for those with late night departure flights to wait in. To future travelers, keep an eye on the new resort being built beside the Sand Bar Resort that will be called Solea Cebu Resort. The construction noise is someone annoying from the pool area, but didn't hamper my sleep in my room. I'm thankful for the jobs it is creating and to be fair, the Best Western Sand Bar Resort notifies you about this noise on their website. Overall, LOVED this place!
Polite and courteous staff. Good food. nice view. Fresh Air. Our little baby enjoyed the pool. Although a little glitch when we asked for a cab, ended up we had to wait for an hour and almost missing our flight back to Manila.
We loved the food in the restaurant. Nothing fancy, but delicious. We stayed in one of their suite rooms and we definitely loved the view from our veranda. We just hope that the next time we visit the hotel, they will open the beach for swimming.
The rooms and the hotel in general is average/okay but they are building a massive hotel next to it so you should expect to hear continuous construction noise. We came here to relax, if we wanted to hear this construction noise, we would have stayed in the city. I would not recommend this place to anyone at least for another 7-9 months until the construction is finished. I have also attached a picture of the view that you should be expecting to see from your balcony.
I actually had my wedding celebration here, so my husband and my family stayed here for a night. My requests before the wedding were not religiously followed due to the lack of man power and lack of training of the staff in this Hotel. It wasn't that bad but it was not perfect. I gave some instructions beforehand unfortunately, they failed to do so. On the other hand, the view and decoration was very nice, the sound system needs improvement though. The room is nice because we stayed in the suite room, not sure of the standard room. Breakfast was just so-so and swimming pool is not that large compared to other hotels but very clean.
