« Desk Staff used my credit card inappropriately »

Stayed in February, discovered an incorrect charge on my card in March. I returned to the hotel to resolve this, but desk staff refused to acknowledge the error and made MULTIPLE EXCUSES why the charge should be there. I asked for a manager. Staff told me there was none on site, asked for my phone, and advised one would contact me. They would not provide me with a manager's contact info. Their mistake was not an honest one. With no other recourse, I then emailed my complaint to BW Corporate. Three weeks later, I got a response from corporate. Shortly after, the GM of this property (apparently they do have one) also contacted me. I was eventually refunded the overcharge, in late April, after a lot of leg work on my part. Suffice it to say that I had to earn the money back that the desk staff took from my credit card. Lesson learned: Check your credit card statements monthly, long after your stay, to look for incorrect charges. DO NOT STAY HERE! THE DESK STAFF ARE INEPT AT BEST AND DISHONEST AT WORST, AND WILL USE YOUR CARD TO CHARGE FOR ROOMS, AFTER YOU HAVE CHECKED OUT!

« Great Staff, comfortable room »

When moving our business to Maine, we looked for a place to stay central to the various mid coast areas. WE PICKED THE RIGHT PLACE! Located perfectly to several coastal attractions, many major stores within minutes to get those 'oops I forgot it' things cheaply, and easy freeway access for travel. The staff here was second to none. Ready to answer any questions or give friendly advise as locals. Really enjoyed our stay. PS great breakfast spread.

    « Perfect spot »

Hotel was in a great location- easy access to get on and off the road and relatively near many great restaurants. Stayed here for two days. Place was clean, beds were more on the firm side. Breakfast area was phenomenal- first place we've actually seen the staff taking care of everyone getting breakfast. Internet was fast and reliable. Would stay here again!

« High degree of comfort and efficiency in Brunswick, Maine.... »

Has a pool and dining area but no dinner service, only standard breakfast included. Its near the center of Brunswick (4 miles) and all the restaurants. Many options so you will not be bored. The road in front leads to the scenic coastal roads. The cost is less in winter and shoulder season.

    « Not worth it »

Room smelled damp. Tub was dirty and sheets were either stained or dirty. Refridgerator made a high pitched buzzing noise when plugged in that was unbearable. Jetted Tub was advertised to be in the room but was actually in the bathroom. Black mold/mildew on the ceiling in bathroom. Toilet wouldn't stop running unless you pulled the lever up from inside the tank...when front desk informed they said thanks for letting us know.

    « Unbeatable value. »

Things that are good about this hotel: the room size and the pool. Things are great about this hotel: size of in-room TV and the grounds, for those who have pets. Things that are fantastic about this hotel: the delicious breakfast and, most especially, the staff. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. Super friendly, professional and effective. At this price point, for a pet-friendly hotel, this place is an unbeatable value.

« Staff used my credit card to commit fraud! »

DO NOT STAY HERE! THESE PEOPLE ARE DISHONEST AND WILL USE YOUR CARD TO CHARGE FOR ROOMS, AFTER YOU HAVE CHECKED OUT! When I experienced this issue, I was told that I had stayed multiple nights. I stayed one night, during a winter storm. Hotel staff initially denied the fraud, then concocted another story when that one fell apart. I asked for a manager, and was told one would call me. This family is a bunch of crooks and should be deported back to the 3rd world country they slithered here from.

    « Overall a nice business stay »

Spent the night here while traveling for business. Nice and cozy rooms, ample/well lit parking. The fireplace in the room was kind of a pain in the neck to operate (if you want to adjust it while it's running you have to touch a pretty warm/hot handle to access controls). Instructions would of been helpful since I have never used one before!! Staff we're friendly but didn't know what an Ethernet cable was (I needed wired internet and wired internet was advertised on their site) but at least they tried. Overall a nice stay.

« Dogs welcome, nice hotel »

We were so pleasantly surprised by the Best Western Plus Brunswick Bath. The room was spacious and well-equipped. There was even a clothes line. The beds were comfortable and the floor was quiet. The breakfast was scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, oatmeal, and waffles as well as the usual breads, cereals and fruit. They welcome dogs which was really helpful to us since we had our dog with us.

    4
    « wonderful place »

The rates are reasonable, the beds are comfortable, they have an indoor pool and they allow pets. They also have rooms with outside access for pets but not many so you should book ahead. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they have a great selection on the breakfast buffet. I stay there quite often when travelng to the Maine coast, they also have suites.

    « Overnight trip »

We had an overnight trip that brought us to Maine. Not a lot of options, kinda a small town from what we saw. I stay at Hilton properties mostly. This place was clean, comfortable, quiet, great breakfast offering, great price, they get it right every time I've stayed here.

    4
    « Winterstay »

Friendly check in. Breakfast items good, sometimes things out or burnt and not replaced. Breakfast should be till 11am. Jetted tub had body odor that obviously was not bleached. Always stay here but jetted tub was gross.

    4
    « Good value! »

Wonderful experience! I stayed there with my family for two nightsI and we had a great time. I highly recommend it! Professional staff, good location, good amenities! Despite the extreme cold and ice, the location of the hotel next to the highway protected us from any bad adventures.

    3
    « Pet friendly? »

For a hotel that claims pet friendly does not use pet friendly salt for winter operations. Found their snow removal and front entrance for icy conditions poor for customer safety. Two things that were a plus was the staff was very friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was a big plus.

    3
    « Pathetic indoor pool »

Very small indoor pool and fitness room. Breakfast choices were better than the average continental breakfasts most hotels offer. The extra charge of 20 dollars per day on pet stay was too much (total $80). Specially we did not request any room cleaning. T

    « my stay »

I couldn't have asked for a nicer time and I can't wait till I can afford it again, We loved the hot tub and the fireplace as well as the breakfast in the morning I even liked the coffee lol the staff was very friendly as well as helpful , The neighborhood was also nice and quiet

    3
« Convenient location, great staff »

Convenient location for mid coast Maine. Staff is very accommodating. Breakfast buffet is included with something for everyone. Indoor Pool for the kids.Depending on your room rate, I might give this facility different ratings. Our comp night would get a 4. The toilet seat hinges were loose and dirty. But the the bed was comfy. So, bottom line is well managed, very good location but a little worn, breakfast and pool for added value, a great choice if luxury is not one of your requirements.

    5
    « Very enjoyable stay. »

I had a very nice room. Even though my room was near the elevator and vending area, I never heard a sound from outside my room. The layout of the room was well thought out. The staff was very helpful and courteous.

    4
    « Great location »

This Best Western is near Bowdoin in Brunswick and also is very close to the decommissioned Naval Air Station. It is right on the road to some of Harpswell's best attractions, like the Crib Bridge and Dolphin Restaurant.

« Good, well cared for hotel »

The setting is a quiet wooded area very near the needed amenities. Very clean rooms and good air quality. Pleasant staff and a great breakfast. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was much better than I expected.

    5
    « Cooks Corner's Best Hotel »

This is the best hotel on the northern end of Brunswick. It is near restaurants and is on the way to the coastal islands of Midcoast Maine. I have stayed in Brunswick many time and this is my first time staying here. I will definitely go back in the future.

    2
    « Buyer beware »

We've stayed here before but this is probably going to be the last time. After driving 8 hours with our toddler and dog during the thanksgiving holiday, we arrived and was told that the dog friendly room we specifically asked for wasn't available. My husband called to confirm weeks in advance to ensure we would have the room with the easy access to outside. As you can imagine, we were extremely upset and the front desk receptionist had no idea how to handle this as there was no manager on site. She offered a $5 discount which was insulting and after going back and forth for at least 20 minutes they got rid of the pet cleaning fee. The rooms are grossly outdated and seems like pretty crappy handyman work. For example, there was a gap in the rug going into the bathroom and nails were sticking up, ready to poke my son's foot. tip: when calling to confirm asked for the name of the person you are speaking with so if there is an issue you can make sure to hold them accountable.

« Great place to stay! »

We stayed here for three nights visiting family in the area, the hotel is beautiful, clean, welcoming staff, breakfast selection wonderful. Its in a great location, close to stores and resturaunts... The salt water pool was warm and the excersise room was great as well...would stay again for sure !

    « Passing through - great hotel. »

My husband, 2 adult sons, and myself stayed here 1 night as we were traveling further into Maine. We arrived late after a full day of site-seeing in the greater Boston area. The check-in was easy; front desk staff was very pleasant. Our room was big enough for us; it was clean and the beds comfortable. The full buffet breakfast was excellent; it was the best we experienced for our 10 day trip. The offerings were meats (yes, more than 1 choice), eggs, fruits, pastries, milk, juices, coffee, etc. Check-out was quick, and again, the front desk person was nice. We would definitely stay here again if our travels bring us back to this area.

Great place to stop. Central location allowed easy access to many diverse activities. Service, staff and amenities were excellent! Lots of great choices in complementary breakfast and plenary of seating allowing us to relax

« Good Hotel, Great Breakfast Chef »

Enduring an electricity outage after a windstorm, for our respite decided to move to a hotel. The Best Western had reasonable rates and a room. Prompt check in, the room was fine and well provisioned. It looked east away from the highway. The bed was comfortable; the bathroom is dated but everything (HOT WATER!!!!! Hooray) worked. Chef Cheryl (spelling?) runs the breakfast room. She deserves the Heisman trophy, no wait, that's football. I recommend she earn the Cheryl Trophy for serving the customers so well. This couple appreciates a good breakfast and a professional server. Two recommendations, the one flaw is room vacuuming is a tad deficient. A previous guest must have had a dog in the room, pieces of dog food were discovered in the blind spots under the desk and tables. Ventilation is underpowered. We had a warm day and even full cool on the AC was insufficient. Yet the room was still rather comfortable. The staff are cordial and helpful. It is a bit of a drive to central Brunswick yet quite manageable. Our electricity has returned so we are home; the three day Best Western stay helped us recover from three days in an unheated, dark, waterless house.

    « Bus Tour Pick »

My bed had hair in it and was dirty. The room was not clean. I had wipes with me and wiped everything down. Hotel was full and we had 50+ people on a bus tour and they had other guests. The bathroom needs to be redone. Two women using a pedestal sink and trying to find enough spots to put toothbrush and makeup was not possible. The spa tub is so high and out dated and dirty. We were staying here three nights. If the room was clean and updated it would be a nice place as it was a spacious room with micro and refrig. I wiped out a couple drawers to place my clothes in and hung up other items.

    2
« Dirty bed, no security. »

I booked a one night stay here, King bed with "spa" bath. The room had the appearance of clean, but as I was setting my chargers up I noticed blond hair on the table and the comforter had someones short and curlies on it, as well as food crumbs. So basically house keeping just changes the sheets, and puts the comforter back on, no washes in between. Just what youd expect for $130 a night right? After throwing the blanket in the corner, I laid down to read. I heard the door lock beep, and someone enter briefly but shut the door before I could get up. So someone else has a key to my room, I really enjoyed lugging my computer and electronics around with me as I went out for dinner since I wasnt going to trust leaving them behind. The "spa" bath is large but the paint is peeling in several places and the home improvement store silicone job is catching moisture and grime. Wont be back to this hotel, thats for sure.

« First Stay "OK" - Second Stay "Questionable" »

My husband and I recently stayed a couple of nights at this property after flying into Portland. Pros are that it was a lot less expensive than hotels in the Portland area. The first night we arrived kind of late... and the room was clean enough, bed was overly firm, but was okay for a night. We had a King room with a microwave and refrigerator and it had a decent full breakfast. On our last night before our flight home, I booked a room here again. I tend to request rooms on the 3rd floor where it is generally more quiet. The room we were given was nothing like the room we had the first night. The sheets looked as if someone had been laying on them. The pillows smelled like they had not been washed and the bed covering was stained. The room didn't appear to be very clean. I requested another room. We were given a room on the 2nd floor. That room was a "little" better, but the bed covering had what appeared to be an unwashed small blood stain on it. I refuse to sleep in something like that. We were then given a room on the 1st floor. It was late and we were tired, so I was not looking forward to having to find another room that late. The room on the 1st floor smelled cleaner, looked cleaner, and the sheets and bedding appeared to be cleaner.. so we stayed the night. The bed was more comfortable than the first night we stayed at this property. The person at the front desk did try to work with us in giving us an acceptable room. It is totally your call on selecting this property. Your experience may be fine (as ours was the 1st night).. or it may not be. In all honesty, for a Best Western Plus, this was not up to the "Plus" standard that we are used to. I will most likely look elsewhere should we be in that area again. They need to wash the bed coverings though "in every room"... that I can say. Throwing the decorative cover over stains doesn't cut it for me... when those are removed, the stains are evident.

« Nice BW Plus for visiting Bowdoin »

Just what we wanted--a reasonable place with now worries for one night visiting the nearby college. Room was clean, bathroom spacious, bed comfortable, and breakfast well done. No complaints. The bed could have been bigger, but it slept two as described, and the one chair could have been more comfortable but it was nice clean leather.

    5
    « On The Road »

This motel is a treat. Don't miss it if you need a place to stay in the area. We booked late while on the road and received the last room. We were pleased to get what we paid for. Very quiet- super quiet place.

    5
« Comfortable, good free breakfast, courteous staff »

We always stay at the Best Western Plus when we visit Brunswick ME. Our daughter attends Bowdoin College and we visit a couple times each year. This hotel is less than 10 minutes from Bowdoin College and more reasonably priced than the hotels adjacent to campus.

« Wonderful place to stay! »

I absolutely loved this hotel!! The outside is in a shady, quiet area, but not far from stores. The lobby is beautiful and large. I thought it was a new property, but was told it was 20 yrs old! The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was beautifully decorated with a large bath. Bed was comfortable. We had a fridge, which came in very handy. The breakfast was hot, extensive, delicious. My husband got bacon, eggs and toast. The bacon was crisp, my oatmeal was good, with several condiments. The dining area is large and relaxing. I would recommend this property to anyone.

    5
« Nice place to stay »

We really liked this place. Everything was clean and well kept. The staff was very nice too. It is right by the stores and restaurants. The pool and fitness room were well maintained. Everything looked new. The breakfast was great, everything you would want and it was hot..

    4
    « Pet stay »

Good room with outside door leading to small deck that was good for the dog. Area for pet walking was clean and quiet. Breakfast was good, several options from waffles, scrambled eggs, cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit, pastries, etc.

« Great one night stay »

Outstanding value. Very clean and comfortable environment and helpful staff. Loved the bed. This was a very good location a short distance off of Rt. in the midcoast Maine area. I would recommend it to close friends

« GREAT breakfast but REALLY bad wifi »

My wife and I have stayed here several times over recent years because they are pet friendly ($20.00 pet fee) . The breakfast has been consistently OUTSTANDING. The quality of the sausage and bacon as well as the friendly breakfast lady deserve special praise, The problem remains the dreadful wifi that goes in and out all the time. It is also hard to get working...unlike the Portsmouth hotel where we are staying tonight. No problem whatsoever here, So,,,BW Plus...put some $$ into internet/Wifi upgrades.

« Very Nice Hotel. Pleasant Stay. »

My wife and I, and our dog stayed two nights over the weekend at this Best Western in Sept. of 2017. Overall, we thought that this hotel is better than most similar hotels. For dog travelers, this is a very welcoming hotel, with lots of outdoor areas for exercise. Plenty of parking right out front, and check in was easy and staff were very friendly throughout our stay. Our room on the second floor was adequately clean. It had a nice fridge and a cheap microwave. There was a desk/desk chair to sit at, and another large chair. We both like firmer mattresses, and I thought my bed was as comfortable as any hotel bed that I've slept in. The bedding was fine. The bathroom was huge. but the towels weren't terrific. The TV and wireless both worked well, we had to get the password from the front desk. They offered a really terrific breakfast, lots of variety and choices, in a very peasant room. There is a computer and printer in the lobby that was convenient. this hotel is convenient to many restaurants. We didn't like that the heat/cool unit was right next to the beds, and it blew air across the beds all night. The bathroom fan sounded like a freight train. Overall we both would recommend this hotel with no reservations.

    « Great stay »

A perfect stopover. A clean exterior and interior, nice room, helpful staff. A quiet location for relaxation, but close enough to Portland to enjoy the sights. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through the area for business or relaxation.

    5
    « Loved it! »

This is a very nice place to stay, It is located in a wooded setting that is very quiet and attractive. The facility is nicely appointed, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was in great shape and very clean. The breakfast was very tasty and included lots of choices. I would stay there again!

    5
    « All favorable review »

All services were provided pleasantly and courteously. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. I vote a five stars rating. The hotel and grounds were very well maintained and clean. The staff could not have been more helpful and courteous.

    4
« On our way home »

We stayed in few Best Western's on our trip and were very satisfied so this was no different. It was good value for the money and good location to find restaurants nearby. The people at the front desk were helpful and offered to show us a restaurant on the map. Had a good night sleep and a very satisfying breakfast.

    3
« Good property - convenient and clean »

This property is a solid 3 star - helpful staff, rooms were clean - they have dog friendly rooms which offer outdoor space - really nice, but you have to call to book those as they are based on availability. Convenient location off the highway.

    4
    « Good Stay »

Room was very nice and very clean. Nice amenities. Keurigs in the room which was a bonus!!! Hairdryer included, nice mini microwaves and mini frig. Beds firm but not hard. Not enough pillows but we asked for more with no problem. Real nice breakfast bar!! One of the better stays we have had on our adventure.

    5
    « Great stay »

We stay at this Best Western on our way to vacation and on our way home, but for me it is a vacation all by itself. Nice, clean, quiet rooms, great beds and pillows! and the swimming pool is wonderful. Very good breakfast. They take dogs, which is a must for us, and we get one of the rooms in the back with a porch. Always quiet and pleasant.

    3
    « Visiting Maine »

The hotel was central to where we wanted to explore. Did not look forward to going back at night as the beds were very uncomfortable. The breakfast we below the quality that I would expect since people are trying to eat healthier. Very spotty internet service in the rooms.

    4
    « Pleasant stay »

Nice BW with pleasant facilities and staff. Breakfast was good with fresh fruit options which I liked. The room was ok - spacious and clean. Our shower was a bit funky with a head at each end but both not really usable. We had an end room so maybe it was different from others. We had a broken soap dish which we reported on checkout.

    1
« Close to the Airshow...but poor Quality »

Stayed two nights for the 2017 Airshow. Around 2miles from the Airshows entrance. Old Best Western Hotel only newly painted. Worst beds since a long time. Pool area old and not in a good shape, like the rest of the hotel. But room was clean and breakfast was surprisingly good (fruits, eggs, bacon, waffle). Price during the airshow (~200$/night) way to high.

  • 5
« Great for visiting Bowdoin »

This hotel is just right for visitors to Bowdoin College. It's close to Brunswick, scrupulously clean, and offers a full breakfast at an excellent price. Parking is ample. If you aren't looking for charm or character, but just want a good place to spend the night for yourself and the family, it's spot on.

    2
    « Dirty Conditions »

My son and I stayed one night for college tours. The hotel seems old and shabby. The employees were pleasant, but we did not have extensive interaction with many. The room was very dirty - there were old beer bottle caps on the floor, dried grass clippings in both beds, a layer of dust behind the beds that was disgusting and the towels looked like they were thrown into the bathroom. We slept with blankets and pillows we had in our car. The breakfast was average.

    2
    « Poor stay »

Rooms had tons of mold in the bathroom pool is very cloudy and slimy ran out of breakfast food every morning no and the price you pay is not worth the quality of the room that you get I don't know if I'd stay there again

    5
« best western plus brunswick »

this hotel has the most caring employees of any hotel we have ever stayed at. and their breakfast is the best hotel breakfast we have ever experienced. when we are in the brunswick area, we make this our home away from home.

    5
    « Great Stay »

We stayed 2 nights at Best Western in Brunswick. The staff was excellent in making changes to my reservation from 2 beds to 1 king. The best suprise was the quality of breakfast at this hotel. At most places, the breakfast buffet has runny, powdered eggs the BW Brunswick had REAL eggs, perfectlly cooked bacon and sausages. Quite a nice suprise. I would stay here again.

    5
« wonderful stay on Maine coast »

this is a wonderful hotel to stay at if your are staying on the Maine coast. this is our 5th year visiting lobster shacks and our first time at Best Western. We will be back. In previous years we thought staying at smaller hotels would be nice. We were tired of poorly air conditioned rooms and soggy mattresses, so decided to stay at Best Western, we were not disappointed. The beds and pillows were wonderful, breakfast beyond wonderful. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and modern.

    3
« It was OK, not excellent, not terrible. »

The hotel is pet-friendly, although we didn't take advantage on this trip. Enjoyed the included breakfast. Had a couple glitches which the front desk handled, TV service just "OK", staff was nice, overall cleanliness just average.

« Avoid at all costs!! »

This hotel does a disservice to the Beat Western Plus name! We arrived and hour early for check-in to see if the room was ready and were told .. not yet. We returned at the specified check-in time and were shown to our room. The room on entry had a moldy smell and it was immediately apparent that the carpet had not been vacuumed. Our attention went to the bed which seemed to the lumpy. When we turned back the bedding it was clear the linen had NOT BEEN CHANGED!! There was hair on the sheets and pillow cases. We notified the front desk that linens needed to the changed. Prior to Housekeeping arriving with clean linens we noticed blood stains on the pillows. Upon further exam we found 2 large blood stains on the mattress!!! It took 2 room changes to find a clean one. I"m a public health nurse and didn't think that our request for a clean room was too difficult to meet but it was at this hotel.

    5
    « Clean and Comfortable »

A tad bit pricey for the area, but in line with most other offerings. In-room internet was spotty, but rooms were clean and comfortable with microwave and minifridge. Complimentary breakfast was great with eggs and breakfast meats, breads, muffins, biscuits/gravy, fresh fruit, yogurt, juices, and my personal favorite, waffles. Would not hesitate to book again.

    5
    « Great location »

Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast offered many options beautifully prepared. The room was larger then usual which was nice. The pool had a waterfall feature. The location is nice in that you can open you window at night and it is quiet.

  • 2
    « Staff was unattentive »

Outside appearance is not a match to the staff and service we encountered. Looks great from the outside. Front desk and breakfast staff were unconcerned with assisting customers. They were not rude, but not helpful. For examples- keys didn't work (no apology), toilet ran all night (when reported they didn't even write anything down- and we told a supervisor), breakfast was served with old waffle batter and food that ran out, understaffed at breakfast, table dirty, food ran out.

    « Overbooked and disapointing »

We have stayed at this location many times over the years, and expected the same quality service we had come to know. We made a two day reservation, but when arriving was told they overbooked, and we needed to go to the Fairfield Inn for one of the two nights, then repack, and come back for the second night. Wow, at first we thought it just a human error, but understand this has happened in the past to others. AS humans, we need to LEARN from our mistakes, make it right with the customer, and not repeat it again. Sad that this experience was not up to our expectations, and was very disapointing. We have been most Brand Loyal in the past, but found the Fairfield to be very accomadating, and our rate there was even lower. Perhaps BW has done us a favor in making us look at other brands for stays? Sad, because we have been most happy before here. Changes?????

    « Return Visit »

Back to Brunswick from the UK once again, this is a handy place for an overnight stay as we head from Boston up to the maritimes of Canada. A pretty routine BW but pleasant enough, clean with all the usual facilities. The room was fine for an overnight and the buffet style breakfast perfectly adequate. No problems here and the town facilities are just along the road if you need them. This hotel does the business without airs or graces so it's a plus from me.

« Food poisoning! Stay away »

I received food poisoning from the breakfast eggs. I am a single mother and was traveling with 2 young children. I was sick for 8 hours after leaving the hotel and had to pull over and sometimes vomit in my car in a plastic bag ( I had to drive 4 hours) . When I tried to resolve the issue with the hotel it was a nightmare -no call backs as promised, etc. They finally credited my account 65 dollars and implied that I was lying. I never received an apology

« dirty and hot reception »

While we were there the front doors were kept wide open day and night so that the lobby was full of dead leaves, pine needles, and other debris and the air-conditioning was off making the lobby and breakfast room hot and dirty. The hallways and elevators were also hot. At least the room had AC on and working well. The bathroom shower had mildew and pink bacterial mat in the corners. The bathroom was remodeled at some time and the tub was removed and a shower was installed. Problem is that they took the large tub area and converted it to a closet on the bedroom side and squeezed the shower into the former closet so that the bathroom door opens covering the shower. And the shower is small and dark, and dirty. The original bathroom ceiling vent is visible over the new closet area open to the bedroom. A sorry and cheap way to renovate.

« Just an average visit »

Front desk staff was pleasant and welcoming throughout the entire visit. Room was average, could have been better due to moldy tiles around the tub and sheets were clearly stained. Don't think I would stay again. I'm sure it was nice when it became a Best Western Plus, but needs an upgrade again.

« There was hair on the pillow cases and stains on the towels »

When my wife and I checked in to our hotel room, we were astounded to find that there was hair on the shower walls, stains on the towels, and eventually we discovered that there was hair on the pillowcases as well. When we told the front desk staff about the hairy pillow cases, they brought us new sheets and we had to change all of the pillow cases and sheets ourselves. I've honestly never had an experience even close to this ever...especially for a room that initially cost me $180.

All the staff there were wonderful and very nice. We were there for 34 nights and felt like family. I would and did recommend the hotel to my niece and she was also pleased. I like the fact that they are pet friendly and treat them as part of the family. Sincerely, Brenda

    « Great Value »

My family I and use Best Western's quite a bit. For the most part you know what you are getting for the money and that predictability is valuable to us. Breakfast was the standard fare, but good quality. Room was clean. We did have two issues though. 1) The quality of the sofa bed was below a usable threshold. The family member end up just sleeping on the couch, which was not ideal, but our only option. 2) The internet went down for the two nights we were there. Which is what it is, things happen. The complaint was that we were not informed of it until checkout, after we had asked why we had intermittent signal all night. Overall a very good stay with minor issues that should have been easy to remedy, or inform us about.

    « Friendly »

This hotel is really good. The rooms were really nice and our room had a really nice deck. The Wi-Fi worked really well and the breakfast buffet had a bunch of nice options like bacon and eggs, waffles, cereal, juice, fruit. The tv was up to date and we had an adjustable shower rod in the bathroom. Very convient.

    « No receipt »

The hotel would not provide us with a printed receipt for our two-night stay. They said it would be emailed. We have no confirmation yet, twelve hours later, and no idea whether their charges will be the ones for which we we contracted. This is bad business practice and seems predatory. Hotel was ok, old but renovated. Breakfast was good. AC was not consistent and would turn off after 5 minutes. Not at all comfortable with Best Western way of doing business.

We had a fantastic visit to Maine. My sons last duty station as a Marine. I took him to the airport for boot camp I was picking him up at his last duty station. The hotel took in my service dog with questions asked. The stay was fantastic housekeeping was fist rate. Breakfast was very delicious every morning for the 6 days we stayed. I recommend this hotel if your in the area or stopping by. Staff is very friendly! I've been in the hotel business for over 35 years in many roles. This is a good stay!

« Nice hotel, very helpful staff »

Positives: nice clean room. Very friendly and helpful reception staff. Reasonable breakfast (6 out of 10) Negatives: bathroom is a bit dated and in need of a refresh. Layout of breakfast area is not efficient. Large round tables, which seat 5 or 6. Once occupied by one person, as mine was until my travelling companion arrived, ties up the rest of the spaces as people are reluctant to share. I gave away all but two of the chairs at our table, but that meant some groups were bunched at their table. Haven't seen this format anywhere else. We would return.

We stayed at this hotel while attending a graduation. We got there very early and although our room was not ready yet, we were allowed to check-in and get our room cards. This was extremely convenient because we were attending a family gathering and did not get back until late. Being able just to come back to the hotel and go straight to our room was wonderful. The breakfast, which was included was very good. It is dog friendly.

    « Bad stay »

Our room was dirty, bathroom floor. Took my kids to swim in the pool, gross!! Pool was dirty, sliding doors were so rusted on the tracks you couldn't even open or close them, dead bugs around the pool. We planned on staying two nights and we left after the first night. Beds were too hard also. We asked for a cot and was told one would be brought up, we went out to supper and came back to no cot. I asked the front desk and was told there were none left! I told the front desk about our bad experience and she did nothing about it! Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed in the service.

    « Comfortable beds and pillows,pretty room »

Very excited to stay there after opening the door to our room.Very modern, large beautiful bathroom, comfy beds and pillows, fridge, microwave. They allow pets,we have a small dog, found out after checking in there is a $20 fee not mentioned in the hotel coupon book. Saltwater pool too! Never swam in one so looked forward to that. Nope! Chlorine odor was so terribly strong, even in our room, through closed doors and an entry way and closed doors. It'd be dangerous to go in that exercise and pool room never mind swim in it! Unfortunately the entire yards/grass are infested with many many ant hills. So if you have a dog to walk,it's almost impossible to avoid stepping on ant hills and need to watch where your dog goes so not ants get on him either. It's too bad because the room has a lovely deck and large grassy back yard to use,for play or walking or whatever, but you just cant use it. The Wifi was terrible, Kept freezing up and kicking us off,be it our phones or either laptop, more than frustrating! As nice as the staff is there and as beautiful as the hotel is,it really is, I'm not so sure we will go back next time. We'll definitely be checking other area hotels when we come down again this summer. It's too bad because those 3 significant things, took a lot away from otherwise good place

    « Weekend Getaway »

This was my Birthday/Mother's Day getaway, I stayed two nights (Thursday and Friday). Rates were comparable and decent. The hotel lobby area was updated and comfortable. Front Desk Staff was helpful and friendly. Smiles and good day's were nice to see and hear, without being made to feel pressured. The room, which was two queen beds with jetted tub, fridge and microwave, was clean but the bathroom was in need of updating. The tub had staining around the drain, and a old drain plug that didn't actually plug well. The tiles and grout, around tub, were stained. The toilet seat had a burn mark on it, appearing like fecal matter. But other than that, it was clean. Room was quiet and comfortable. Beds were comfortable and clean. Doors might need updating as the gaps around jam were wide and let in too much hallway light. Coffee marker didn't work but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. The pool was in working order (the website said otherwise), clean and amazing! The salt water was great on the skin. Fitness room appeared clean and acceptable. Pool bathroom needed a good scrubbing and updating. The free breakfast was yummy and full of variety. Breakfast area was clean and inviting. Waffle maker needs updating as it was hard to work, timer misfired the first time. Tip jars were a bit off putting, I didn't bring cash with me as I wasn't expecting to need it. Breakfast Staff stayed mostly out of the way the first morning, second morning they were a bit more helpful. Food was good quality. All and all this stay was pleasant and just what I needed. I will be looking at this venue in the future when I need another staycation.

« TIP JARS and Horrid Breakfast Experience »

We needed to stand next to the toilet and wait to complete the flush, by hold down the handle until it all went down each time. The Breakfast at 8am, had Burned / Blackened food that was unedible and cold. .....and 2 Huge TIP JARS, with Wait Staff standing by them asking for tips, rather than replacing the food!..Really Horrid......and very UNPROFESSIONAL. If this is a typical Best Western....we will continue to stay at Marriott and Hilion Properties as we have in the past.

I have stayed in this hotel before because it is reasonably priced and fairly attractive. I did notice it wasn't as clean as in the past, the beds are okay but not noticeably comfortable, and I could not set the room temperature quite right. Overall, a good place to stay.

The Best Western Plus in Brunswick, Maine is a great hotel! The rooms are huge, updated and very clean. The mattresses are extremely comfortable! With a good size refrigerator, microwave, flat screen TV, pool and fitness center, you have everything you need. The breakfast was excellent-lots of options. The location is great too-near stores, restaurants and sights but quiet and peaceful. And the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this hotel!

    « A disappointment! »

I have stayed in this property many times before and always was impressed by the homey, helpful staff. This was before it became a Best Western and therefore, I imagine, is under new, and clearly inferior, management. I made my reservation on line through Best Western. Afterward, before I arrived, I went on the property's website for another reason and noticed that they offer various discounts, for several of which I appeared qualified; so when I arrived I asked about the discounts. I was brusquely informed that because I had made a "third party" reservation it could not be changed, even though the website says a 10% senior discount is subject to proof of age at check-in. I then asked how it could be that a reservation made through Best Western is considered a "third party" reservation. Answer: blank stare. I checked in anyway, since the property is nearest the boatyard I would be visiting the next morning. When I got to the room, I found that the television controller must have been supplied by the very lowest bidder as it didn't even have a channel guide! I had to call the front desk to get one on paper! This is in 2017! It is obvious that the new management of this property elevates penny-pinching over customer service to a degree I have never before encountered at a Best Western. Based on previous experience I have considered the Best Western brand as a positive factor. Not!

« I So Wanted to Like this Hotel! »

I really wanted to love this hotel because my spouse and I visit that area of Maine three times a year for her medical appointments but unfortunately, that was not the case. When we booked the suite, I asked if we could be located as much away from people as possible so that we would not be disturbed by noise and to keep our dogs from reacting to noise outside our door. It being March, in Maine, I was told that they would be able to grant my request. When we arrived at the hotel on March 19th, we noticed that we were placed in the middle of many other guests who seemed to be connected. I went down to the desk and explained what had transpired and wondered why most of the hotel guests were located on the 3rd floor within close proximity to our suite. The gentleman at the desk explained that there had been a water leak on another floor and then quickly changed the reason to being short staffed in housekeeping. I continued to express my concern and asked to be switched to another suite. He assured me that all of the people around us would be checking out the next day and that he knew that they were back in their rooms around 9. He also said that if we had a problem, we could switch the next day, the second day of our two-night stay. The first night was noisy! People were coming and going constantly and slamming doors until after 11pm. My spouse, who is chronically ill, had trouble sleeping and went to the first or her doctor appointments in a very tired and stressed-out state. I went to the desk after breakfast and requested and complained about the situation, once again explaining the entire story, and asked to be changed to a different suite. The young woman at the desk was clueless and said that she didn't know what to do and needed to wait for her manager to come in. I asked again when the people around us would be checking out and was told that everybody would be staying for another night! I was shocked and dismayed to learn that the gentleman from the day before had completely lied to me. Needless to say, nobody ever got back to me about changing rooms and we had no other alternative but to stay one more night in the same situation. I purchased noise-cancelling headphones for my wife, so that she could hopefully get some sleep prior to two very important doctor appointments on March 21st. The noise on the floor was relentless. Once again there was constant door slamming, loud talking, yelling and stampeding through the halls until 3am! Neither of us got much sleep and the only reason my wife slept at all was because she had the headphones to muffle some of the sound. This situation was unacceptable! In addition, we have never stayed in a hotel where the staff was so inattentive and at times, downright rude. Nobody ever greeted us when we entered the lobby and passed the desk and as stated earlier, they never followed up on our request and complaints. We will never stay there again!

On a recent weekend trip to tour Bowdoin College with my daughter, we stayed at the Best Western. It's obviously an older hotel that had a face lift. New paint and updated bathrooms. Our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The location was great with Applebees, Starbucks and a Walmart very close by.

« Pleasant Stay at good location »

We stayed at Best Western Plus Brunswick/Bath during prime leaf peeping season, which meant peak rates applied. That said, compared to hotels in the area, this was reasonable for what you get. Standard rooms are outfitted with a desk, tv, and basic appliances. Pros · Front desk staff is excellent. Very friendly, and checkin/out was a breeze. She let us pick where we'd like our room to be. · The included breakfast buffet is fully loaded. Many options of hot food, which was restocked promptly. · Free wifi was easy to access. · Ample parking, easy to get to, good location to get all around the area. Cons · Biggest complaint is that the bathroom counter was little more than the pedestal sink. More space would be nice to lay out bathroom things. · Someone bought blue-tinted light bulbs for the lobby, which gives it a cheaper feeling. Soft-white is the way to go, and would make it much more inviting. · For whatever reason, our appliances (TV, coffeemaker, & mini fridge) were unplugged when we arrived. Great stay - ideal if you want to go foliaging.

I stayed at this best western three years ago. Since then they've upgraded the Internet to be much faster and reliable. Their breakfast had definitely upgraded to more appealing options of eggs, bacon, sausage and prepared oatmeal. The rooms were clean, quiet and the salt water pool is a nice amenity.

    « Two Night Stay »

My wife and I stayed here for two nights on our annual New England trip. Our room was on the first floor and the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is a short ride to Orr and Bailey Island, Freeport and Portland. The staff is friendly and helpful and the breakfast was a typical chain breakfast. The only problem was when I checked out my bill was not credited with two $50 Best Western gift cards which I presented at checkin. When I made the desk clerk aware of this I was promptly given a $100.00 credit. I will be back.

« Do not stay here »

Room Keys fail intermittently. The electronic system is clearly flawed. Staff tries hard to help, but it doesn't work. Options are to change rooms (if one is available) or have the staff run up with the master key every time you want to get in. Staff person is frequently not available, since they only have one person working in the entire hotel after 3pm. If you stay here, you will spend all your time managing your room. You might as well stay home.

    1
    « Didn't stay here this trip »

On our Maine trips we usually always try to include at least one night at this hotel, but this week we tried and chose not to. We stopped by late afternoon and asked if they had rooms available, (they did). We told the desk clerk that we had a hotel coupon and were told that they had no availability. Rather than pay the quoted price, we chose to go somewhere else. At 9:00pm I called back and asked if they had available rooms and was told that they did. I guessed they didn't want our business and won't have to worry about it in the future. I don't like being treated like that!

Great location in Brunswick/Bath area. Hotel was very pet friendly with rooms that were on the first floor that had an outside back door in the room to a large grassy area for your pet. Also had a small deck on the back. Rooms were nice, staff was very pleasant.

    « Above Expectations »

Our room was on the first floor close to the lobby, which was great for this mid-60's couple - no stairs or long corridors to navigate. The room was a good size, up-to date, clean and neat, with a relatively quiet heat / AC unit, and the best lighting of any hotel room I can remember, at any price. I usually bring one or two 100 watt equivalent light bulbs with me, but we didn't need them here! Self-serve buffet breakfast had very good selection and quality. My only complaint was that the bathroom exhaust fan was on the same switch as the lights, so we couldn't turn the fan off when we only needed the lights. We were able to park out front about 40' - 120' from the main entrance and lobby, and all was on ground level.

« Great place to stay! »

Stayed here for three days to tour a part of the country I never saw before. The staff was great even though we checked in very late due to some bad gps issues. Room was comfortable, clean, quiet and had great a/c. High speed net was spotty, but I think it was due to outside issues, not the hotel. The staff was warm and friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was great, (wife loved the waffles) and food was fresh and hot and plentiful. Really a nice place to stay and I will be back.

    « Much Better than I expected! »

I stayed at this Best Western PLUS for 5 days in September, 2016. I was pleasantly surprised at the price, condition, and breakfast. Let's face it: Best Western's are not at the top tier of hotel chains; with that said, they are not at the bottom either. First, check-in was easy upon arrival. I found the room to be extremely clean and reasonably updated. I spoke to the General Manager a few times in casual conversation (Mr. Nirav Patel) and he said they were in the process of changing-out the room TV's and bed-side lamps (which will have plug-ins for your electronic devices; that said, the existing room was well appointed and clean. You could tell the staff was very well trained and seemed to enjoy working there. That leads me to breakfast. The woman (and I wish I could remember her name!) who oversees the breakfast set-up, was extremely pro-active. She asked guests if they needed anything or "how was your breakfast". She helped young kids prepare their waffle, was extremely nice, and was constantly re-filling breakfast items that were depleted - This woman is a keeper for the hotel and I hope she's paid well and doesn't leave! I would leave her a gratuity which was well deserved. BTW, the breakfast selection was great! The price of this hotel is quite reasonable, and the location puts it in a prime location to travel to many of Maine's sought-after areas. Plenty of on-site free parking and it seems to attract tour groups on a regular basis.

« Nice for a One Night Stop! »

My family and I spent one night here during our 10-day summer vacation in New England. The hotel is conveniently located off Rt 1 if you are looking to stay north of Portland. The staff was very friendly and helpful with information for local restaurants. My kids liked the indoor pool with waterfalls but luckily we were the only ones in pool at the time since it was kind of small. The room was pretty standard but comfortable. The breakfast was nice, although again, pretty standard. They kept running out of bacon and sausages, even though what they were serving were a little on the dry side. My kids liked making the Belgian waffles and they had sweeter toppings to make them more like a dessert. All in all, we got what we were expecting and it was a nice place to stop to break-up the long drive before heading up to Downeast Maine.

We stopped here on our way to Acadia for the week and it was a great stay. I had to do a little homework on vacation and needed a quite place to record some voice discussions for online posting. Other than that, nice, quiet, clean hotel.

« Card Fraudulence by staff/ neglected by manager »

This hotel charged me with some fraudulent amount of the fee, for the already paid room. The amount wasn't even the same. When I reported this error, the hotel staff never forwarded my call messages to the management. The Hxxxxs.com did not get any response from the management either. After 11 days, as I was pressing hard to my booking website gold desk and the BW hotel, the aggressive hotel manager was put on the phone by my booking website staff. She already lied about their hotel's mistake (or Fraudulence) or lied about contacting me to explain their their mistake. Very dishonest. When I finally agreed to speak to the manager, through my booking website staff's recording, today, 30 days after our stay, the manager, Kerri, changed her story again, from 10 minutes ago, with the my booking website staff. This type of dishonesty explains the previous misbehavior of other rude front desk staff being hostile. After all, I was the victim to go through this unnecessary ordeal this hotel put at my expense of their own mistake. It cost me two visits to my credit card bank for filing for the fraudulence/dispute. All this time, the hotel neither admit their mistake nor apologized for their mistake. The management was flatly unaware of the card fraudulence, or didn't tell me how this issue would be handled. Again, there was no sincere apology for my ordeals. And, the manager put her phone down for 18 minutes while I was talking to her. That was condescending. But, this was all recorded in the booking web agent's call recording. I reported this fraudulent and suspicious act to Hxxxxs.com to raise the red flag seriously. I really hope other guests don't experience what I had to go through. What a nightmare.

« No plus for Best Western Plus »

I spent three nights here. My room was clean and comfortable--a king-sized bed, sitting area, desk, fridge and microwave, and a Kuerig. The bath had only a shower. The downside: 1) the internet is VERY slow, and you need to sign in every few hours; 2) maintenance is an issue. My toilet wouldn't flush. I informed the front desk, but either maintenance wasn't called, or, if it was, nobody showed up. Hence, an unflushed, used toilet awaited the housekeeper. I tracked her down and let her know so she wouldn't be surprised. The pool was murky and there were no towels. The beds are comfortable, and the windows open. The breakfast is the usual scrambled eggs, meat, potatoes, oatmeal and waffles. On two of the three mornings the promised sausage gravy wasn't there. Try to avoid a room that faces front. On two of the nights I was there a semi parked in the lot and starting at 6 am on the first morning, the driver started up his rig to make (I guess) some repairs. Between the obscenity-laden "music" he was blasting as he worked and the gunning of the engine, sleep was not an option. The second night there was another truck, who was much quieter--though still noisy--the next morning. What all of this tells me is the the hotel is almost there. I think it needs a general manager who pays attention to details--have the trucks parked away from guest rooms, make sure the toilets are fixed, have towels at a sparkling pool, correct the breakfast menu or make sure you serve what you say you are serving. In other words, sweat the small stuff. It would raise my review by one star if you did.

« Convenient for Bowdoin visit »

My teenage son and I stayed here one night while visiting Bowdoin. The hotel is a 10-minute drive (or a little less) from Bowdoin, located near a highway intersection and commercial strip (including a nearby Applebee's, where we had a decent meal). The hotel's actual location was a bit set apart from its commercial neighbors, surrounded by tall pine trees, which was nice, and parking near the front door was easy to secure. I was able to get in a morning run along the busy road, which had a wide shoulder -- I felt perfectly safe from traffic. The hotel itself was fairly typical -- the room had the usual things, was clean. Front desk staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast (included) was ample and tasty, and included things like eggs, sausages, bacon, waffles. The only downsides to note were the pool -- small, humid, not very appealing -- and the small fitness room that was accessed through this pool area. The fitness room was quite warm and we couldn't figure out how to cool it down. My son biked for 5 minutes before the power died on the machine.

We stayed here in July 2016 and was very pleased. We came up for my old Navy Base Reunion and stayed 2 nights. Room was very clean. AC was extremely cold which i loved. Kuerig coffee maker in the room was a plus. They have a Free breakfast which pretty much had everything you could ask for. We will definitely be staying here again when we come back up to Brunswick.

« Rooms clean, Great breakfast »

We stayed here for 5 days in August. My only complaints are there was visible mildew and mold in the shower/tub tiles and joints, the ved was quite uncomfortable and there was a faint odor of urine near one side of the bed. Other than that, the room was clean, they had a fantastic offerring for breakfast and everyone was very kind and helpful. I would likely go back here if my first and second choices were unavailable.

    « Nice hotel »

stayed at this property during a visit to Lobster fest in Maine with my husband and two small children. The room was comfortable and clean. The microwave, coffee maker and fridge were up to date and a necessity for us. Pool was great. Nice breakfast variety in the morning. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Staff was very friendly.

Expensive, but nice hotel. Good breakfast! No variety in pillow type. I prefer some skinny pillows. These were all the same, and the covers were sparse. Air conditioning and heat worked well, and the machinery was quiet.

« Close to Bowdoin, but would not stay here again »

The hotel is very worn and needs updates. Our room was clean but had worn carpet, cracked bathroom tiles, flimsy spotted towels.... just not a great feeling to it. The price makes it worth consideration, and it's only a 10 min drive to Bowdoin, but if we come back, I will look for another option.

« A Good choice for the passing by travelers »

+ This place was available on the day we were checking in, still in the middle of the Summer Peak seasons. It seems like Brunswick is not hit by the tourist mob, but the passing through guests like us. (?) When we got close to the area, just off Route 1, the GPS picked up the signal, and kept showing the wrong location between the railroad and the cinema marking lot. And, Gurnet road (24) was putting us back to the Route 1 North this time. That was a strange unexpected flat ramp way. So we struggled and approached Gurnet Road and passed this inaccurately GPS-marked hotel location, then, we finally recognize the building past U-Haul site. (?) Their Sign along the road was useless as it was sided with the tree and not visible from the distance. Be familiar with the building shape and the color RED of the BW plus logo. When we arrived at 11pm, the parking lot was almost full. The brief greeting was followed. The accessible room was given but we didn't know that it was right behind their counter. Instead of unloading our bags right then, we parked our car at the farthest corner, where the only space was available, then dragged our bags almost back to the same lobby area. I wish the staff could have advised us of the room location more precisely. + The room was well-appointed, and very clean. The green color accent wall bring more definition in the room, but too much in the corridor. (?) The shower floor was flat with bowed shower curtain rod that dripped the water on to the wrong side of the tiled floor. Once the water leaked outside the shower floor (which was on the same level as the rest of the bathroom floor, the water did not travel back to the shower drain, with the silly plastic strap blocking the returning water. (?) I suggested the front desk to change the shower road, and remove the strap, and they can still have the raised threshold as they have provided the plastic chair already. + The breakfast was simple, but the typical BW standard, good but not better than the other BW Inn at Acadia Park. But, I cannot complain and I am quite pleased with BW standard. + The swimming pool, Laundry, Gym are in the same area, and they are open for the guest, without the discouraging open hour restriction. ++ The location is quite good during the day, with a quick mall shopping if needed, and, close to ?Maine Street? which is the backbone of the town. _______________ Easy booking and easy stay means it will be a confident choice for a traveler passing through the town.

Such a great exterior... As well as the great breakfast we ate everyday. We stayed 3 nights, and the rooms were quite and the staff were polite and kind! So much to do and lots of food nearby. Definitely worth a try...........................

    « Great sleep! »

My best night's sleep all trip topped off by wonderful breakfast with real cooked eggs, homemade hashbrowns, hand cut fruit, bacon/sausage + all the usual these days. I do not like to be hot at night. Slept on the side of the bed nearest the air unit and it was fabulous. Probably a little chilly for some, but you can turn it off/down. Some units don't work in 100 degree weather, but this one worked great!

    « Better than I expected »

This hotel was much less expensive than others in the area. That always makes me nervous. The reviews were decent so we took a chance. For the money, it was better than I expected. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and orderly and didn't have any funky smells. There were good breakfast options with a very kind and attentive dining staff. There was nothing fancy about this place, but it provided everything we needed at a great price. It is a pet friendly hotel, and while it was very quiet, there was fur noticed in the hallways and stairwells. All in all I'm glad I didn't let the low price scare me away.

    « Motel with style »

Just stayed here for one night, hope all my accommodations are as good on this trip.really friendly staff. Sarah at the front desk gave some great restaurant suggestions, places that the locals eat Large clean room. Whirlpool bathtub. Only limited shelf space in the bathroom though. Even a full sized ironing board. Beautiful lobby with very comfortable breakfast area. The coffee maker in the room was a Kurig and they had decaf coffee. All round good experience. Their address , Grumit Rd is really Rt. 24 in Brunswick.

« Great place to stay in Brunswick/Bath area »

Customer service excellent, parking is great with cameras outside for security. Pet friendly and our room offered an outside door with a little grass area for pets. We also had a small deck outside our room with a table and chairs to drink your morning coffee. Room was exceptionally clean. Great to have a bigger refrigerator with small freezer in the room. Price with military discount a little pricey for us but considering the value we are very happy with this motel!

    « Normal Hotel Chain »

This hotel fit the typical hotel chain. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, there is an indoor pool. The room itself was small, and the shower nozzle had too much pressure which made getting a shower not enjoyable. The location of the hotel is not ideal, and is a bit in the middle of no where. Overall, wouldn't have too much of a problem staying here again.

this hotel has many positive qualities. the first is the outstanding breakfast buffet served from 6 to 10 every morning. the wonderful selection is constantly being improved. best hotel breakfast we have ever had - anywhere!! the rooms are fairly large and have very comfortable beds and pillows. staff is really outstanding and very caring. they truly go the extra mile to make the experience enjoyable. their indoor saltwater pool is open year round. their rates are competitive, and when you are able to use a hotel.com coupon, their rates become exceptional.

« Hotel fit our needs »

We needed a dog friendly hotel between MA and Bar Harbor and this hotel worked great. Close to restaurants and stores. There was free breakfast and the kids used the gym. Close to downtown Bath and Portland (maybe within 1/2 hour each way). The night we stayed the hotels in portland were $450 and this was $150. Everyone there pleasant and it was a safe place and convenient place to stay.

« Brunswick Best Western "IS" the best! »

Visited friends in Bath, Whitefield, and toured this beautiful area!! Liked it so much we extended our stay two nights. Since nothing is perfect -- the TV programs were not listed by hour or channel and picture often fuzzy -- during 4 of the 6 days we missed getting "USA Today" even though we were at breakfast at 8 AM. Desk attendants were helpful and polite. Yup! I read the paper and watch TV at night so it was a 'little' inconvenient.

« Very nice one night stop off!! »

We called ahead from the Maine Visitors center and spoke with a super nice gentleman who accomodated our family of 4 and our friends family of 4 traveling with us. We got the last two rooms available and the young man at the desk got us towels and rollaways to make us comfortable. ..we thank him very much! ! After a long day of driving this was perfect..the kids swam, we ordered pizza for dinner, slept comfy and had an amazing breakfast the next morning before heading out.

If you're visiting the coastal area north of Portland, this is a great hotel in the Brunswick area. Just a few minutes from Bowdoin College--check out their art museum if you have the time!

Nice place to stay. Enjoyed both Bath (a smaller town) and Brunswick. Went to Ft. Popham but was crazy busy because of their spring break. Went to Popham Beach, pretty. Even saw the USS Zumwalt go up the river and dock. JR Maxwell's and Kennebec Tavern offeren great and reasonable food. In Brunswick, a fun Candlestick Bowling Alley on a side street, and Gelato establishment. Loved the breakfast, and would love to come back some time.

« Food and dirt on beds and in drawers »

We stayed here last June and had no problems, so when we returned to visit Bowdoin college with our daughter we didn't think twice and booked again. The room we had was alarmingly dirty. My daughter opened the pull-out sofa; it was covered it what looked like cracker crumbs. I opened drawers and there was dirt/sand/etc in most of the drawers. There was no bedding for the bed. After first bringing bedding, then agreeing to move us when we found the drawers were also dirty, our second room had some lettuce on the couch mattress which the manager saw as we opened the bed. We were brought new bedding and given only 10% off and a few extra Best Western points, not enough for another stay at any hotel. My daughter was so grossed out that she found a friend to stay with at the college the second night; we didn't unpack anything into the drawers and frankly couldn't wait to leave. I don't feel we were compensated adequately; will definitely look for a different place when we return once or twice/year over the next 4 years.

« Great location, excellent breakfast, clean & quiet »

We stayed here two nights and used it as a base for a mini vacation to explore the mid-Maine coast. The location is very good and a short walk or drive to shopping at Cook's Corner. The free breakfast offered is excellent with many choices of hot and cold foods. Indoor pool was nice and front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We paid the extra for a king room with a jetted tub and that made my wife very happy!

spent a few days here for a family funeral. Pets welcome for a nominal nightly fee. There is a great wooded area in the back of the building for walking the dogs. Rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. Beds are very comfortable with a lovely menu of pillows on the bed. Microwave & fridge. did not use the wi-fi but it is very easy to connect to. Breakfast was standard fare. They gave us a room to gather in after the funeral services to show films and share stories. We brought in snacks and drinks. Location is easy access to hiking & biking, Orr's Island, Bailey Island along with Bath & Freeport.

« Our stay in Brunswick Maine »

Our stay at The Best Western in Brunswick Maine was exceptional. The accommodations were so clean and comfortable as well as nicely decorated. We had a suite and there was ample room. The employees were very welcoming as we would want to expect. They are very pet friendly. The extra charge for a pet was not a problem for us as if there were any before us you wouldn't know. We will definitely stay there again.

« Was fine last year (2014), not impressed 2015...Will go elsewhere in 2016 »

My daughter and I stayed here for a swim meet which our swim team booked as a group deal. This was the second time we stayed here and sorry to say, I don't' think we will stay here again due to the conditions this year. When we got to the hotel (late as I got lost), we checked into our room and parked around the side. We entered through the side door. As we did, a somewhat sketchy looking man came out the side entrance for a smoke. As i went back and forth to get my luggage and stuff, the man standing outside reeked of marijuana. Now, I realize this is not not the hotels' fault, still it certainly did not improve my opinion of the place. As we entered our room and settled in, my daughter went over to close the curtains (we were on the first floor with a window out to the parking lot) and she found a cigarette butt on the side panel near the window. She was extremely grossed out and upset. I'm not sure if the staff was in a hurry to clean the room but this got left behind. I disposed of it since I didn't want to deal with the hassle of calling the front desk and having them come down. Needless to say, it was upsetting to her for the remainder of the evening. Other than the bathtub looking a bit worn, it was ok. The breakfast the next morning was fine, which is why I'm rating it average. However, the pot smoking sketchy man standing outside the side door in a hotel filled with teenage and younger swimmers does not bode well with me and the cigarette butt in the room was just gross. We will be looking to stay down the street next year and I will give this feedback to the team hotel coordinator as I do know there are several other hotels in the area we could try in the future.

« Nice place GREAT STAFF »

I can't remember her name but the woman that runs the breakfast room makes you feel like you are eating at her house and she's a great host. The front desk staff are friendly and always have a smile on their face. The rooms are clean the towels were where they should have been and the TV worked. I travel 40 weeks a year for work and realistically the only difference between a 5 star and a 2 star if they're clean is how nice the lobby is, and I don't sleep in the lobby

    5

« Great deal for the price - would stay again »

As we grew up in and still have family in the area, we have stayed at a number of hotels over the years. After our stay over Christmas, we are moving this one to the top of the list. I was a bit dubious as it cost significantly less than others we have stayed at so I was concerned it would be not so nice, but we wanted to stay at the same place as my sister and hadn't been that happy at our last place so gave it a try. One of the few negatives was in trying to find it. It was a dark and foggy night. The sign says "Brunswick Bath" in big letters and the Best Western Logo gets lost. We only spotted it as we drove past and had to turn around. People already know they are in Brunswick - we felt the Best Western name should have been prominent. Once we arrived, we found the staff pleasant and helpful. We booked a suite, not much more in cost than a basic room, and were very happy with the size and decor of both the living room and bedroom. Both had large modern (flat) tvs. We were missing a remote for one but as the one worked for both, we didn't bother saying anything. We asked for an extra blanket which was sent up. We used the pool one night and were lucky in that we were the only ones there. When we arrived, we saw no clean towels but a request to the front desk took care of that. There were several pool toys we had fun with. In addition, this pool was the best for doing laps of the any hotels I have been to as it was quite long. The water fountain at the end was a cool feature. The water felt cool at first but once you start moving around, you get warm. We would have loved a hot tub but there isn't one. We had no trouble using the heater, which was located in the bedroom, but note that it does make some noise when blowing. Not a problem for me, but more of an issue for my boyfriend who can be a very light sleeper. He just used the sofa in the other room when it bothered him. Great breakfast - one of the better ones for self-serve. They could use a second waffle maker as people were always waiting on it. We advised early that we might not use all three days and, when we left a day early, we had no trouble. Checkout was fast and pleasant.

    « Shower Issues »

I stayed here three years ago and loved it, not so much this time though. There is wear and tear such as stains on furniture, the mattress was worn, but the worst was the shower. Around the shower head was white plaster creating a real eyesore against the green paint which didn't impress me for the $94 a night this room cost. The tub didn't drain so I stood in about 6 inches of water while showering. We asked the front desk for Drano and they replied it was locked up. I told the attendant when I checked out I was not impressed with the shower and she replied she would fix it for the next guests. That's special and I will NOT be staying here ever again!!!!

I stayed in a great room with my daughter who's a senior in high school. We both loved the room, amenities and staff. We were on a trip to see a local college. She is interested in attending Bowdoin college. I read great reviews before I booked the room. The location and the price of this hotel were just right ! I would recommend this hotel to others, and plan on returning for a vacation in Maine type trip in the future.

« Light Blanket During Winter »

This hotel doesn't provide warm comforter set during winter. It only has light cotton blanket. We had to set the heater at 74F to keep warm. The heater, made loud noise, started often b/c the setting of heater was at 74F while the outside was frozen. No restful night.

    « Great stay and hotel !! »

We came up for the Thanksgiving holidays. We were there for 5 days. The staff, housecleaning, and maintenance were great. Bri at the front desk was awesome, very helpful, always smiling, Kristine in breakfast area did a super job in keeping everything stocked up for everyone. The Heater didn't work the night we checked in but it was too late for repairs and we were offered to exchange rooms that night but we were exhausted from a long drive so Bri gave us some extra blankets and it was just fine. We moved rooms the next day so the heater/AC could be pulled out and worked on with out interrupting our stay, since we had our dogs with us. The rooms had a mini fridge and microwave. The bed in our first room was more comfortable than the other room bed but after changing rooms we didn't feel like changing again. The breakfast had waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy, warm oatmeal with numerous toppings to choose from, fresh fruit, pastries, breads, juices, coffee, yogurts, etc. Everything tasted very good. It had an indoor pool and exercise room, outdoor decking for summertime.

« So good we stayed another night »

We were on a fall road trip and heading south when we thought we would give this BW a go. Very good hotel, fairly typical of what you expect from the BW brand.Clean, good size rooms, comfortable and very good value. Very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was very good and a cut above the typical continental style with hot and cold offerings. The lady that does the breakfast takes pride in what and how she delivers. The dining area was done in a nice decor off to one side at the entry. Great choice if you find yourself on the road and requiring accommodation in this area. We enjoyed it so much we decided to stay another night so we could further explore the surrounding coastal areas. Just one thing to note is that dining options outside the hotel appear very limited, we did eat at the Applebees just up the road but didn't see any other options close by.

    5
    « Best Breakfast EVER »

Not only is this BW a deal, Its a Heck of a deal. All rooms are not standard and offer various treats with some different bathroom options. The Best breakfast that can be had short of a chef cooking eggs to order. The Bteakfast Embassadors Kristina and Stacey are SUPERSTARS! I love coming the this BW!

    « Top Notch! »

I have stayed at Best Western on numerous occasion and always found them just so-so. This particular BW was exceptionally clean with very friendly staff who really seemed to care about giving us a positive experience. The complimentary breakfast was great! I do not eat grains and always have a difficult time finding something on the breakfast bar at hotels. This hotel was not your usual carb loaded cereal and toast here. They served bacon, eggs, sausage, yogurt, juices, waffles, home fries, pastries, etc. There was something for everyone. We did not use the salt water pool but it looked really nice. Also, this hotel was really quiet. If we ever visit Brunswick or Portland, ME again I will definitely stay here.

Lobby and breakfast dining areas are beautiful in contrast to the average décor of the hotel room. The bathroom is elegant with a deep tub, allowing you to soak. Large comfortable king size bed in a spacious room. Breakfast is bountiful with scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, biscuits, oatmeal, waffles, fresh fruits, cold cereals, assorted juices, assorted breads and pastries, coffee and tea. The laundry facility has two dryers and two washer ($1.50 a load).

This hotel was recommended by a local we met at a local pub. The hotel was clean, had friendly staff and was well located about a mile or so from downtown Brunswick. There was ample parking and it was located near several restaurants, including an Applebee's which stayed open till midnight. Shopping was right nearby also. Breakfast was above the usual standards and well staffed.

First time in Maine, us west coasters found this place online based on location and reviews... Staff was friendly, grounds were clean, rooms were very clean. Kristina?? at breakfast was super informative... I was looking at the brochures of what to do nearby, and she approached me... I told her what out interests were, and she came back with so much information... She sat down with us like a concierge, and had maps and information printed out for us... We did everything she told us about... Drove down the islands, and went to Freeport for lunch... My only complaint was a member of the housekeeping staff... The hotel rooms were so nice and quiet, and we were sleeping so well... I understand if hotel guests are loud, but at 8;15am she was talking loudly, and not closing the doors next to us quietly, just letting them slam shut... We could hear everything she said from the hallway to our bed. Even a loud belch, and an "excuse me" Again, not a deal breaker, and would stay again for sure.

    « A nice place to stay »

Quiet situation out of town. Good sized room with a walk-in shower and lots of hot water. Breakfast very good, wide choice of fruit, breads, yogurt and hot dishes; the bacon was exceptional. Kristina is doing a great job in the kitchen and dining room.

This hotel was in an excellent location for our recent trip. On arrival, check in was very quick and efficient. Nearby were some nice restaurants and some fast food restaurants. The room was large, warm and comfortable.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, no matter how big or small. We had almost 100 guests at our wedding and they accommodating every single one. They provided the most courteous service to all of my guests, and made us feel like we were at home. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, the rooms were immaculate, and the Staff (front desk especially) were so helpful and polite. Every time I called to check on reservations and room availability, they went out of their way to assure me things were taken care of. THIS HOTEL WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO HELP MAKE OUR WEDDING DAY AS STRESS-FREE AS POSSIBLE FOR US AS WELL AS OUR GUESTS!! WELL DONE & THANK YOU!!

This was a great place to stay; comfortable and clean. I enjoyed the third floor room where we could open the screened window. It was quiet and good quality. The breakfast area was inviting. The food was very good.

Everything was great at this hotel. A 4 star experience for sure! Staff was helpful, room very good and breakfast good. I would go back again for sure. We stay at a lot of hotels throughout the country and this one would rate in the top 20 percent. The only drawback is that it is not in an area with a view.

    « Accessability »

All hotels, inns and motels with 50 or more rooms need to have at lease 5% of the rooms made to meet accessible standards. This Best Western has only one accessible room. Their regular rooms are manageable, but the bathrooms are nightmare for a disabled person. Otherwise, this is a truly exceptional property that is squeaky clean, well appointed and laid out. Fantastic breakfast (and staff) with smooth check in check out staff. A pleasure to stay there.
