    « Scruffy hotel »

A scruffy hotel requires updating with added mould around sink and toilet, cobwebs above bed overpriced for a 3 star hotel good bed and the girl on reception was very pleasant and helpful we would not stay again

    « Basic but good »

Around 14 of us stayed here in April as we were attending a Wedding nearby at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre. We stayed for 2 nights. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Rooms were bright and clean. There wasn't much of a bar, it was really the breakfast room with a small bar in it. The breakfast was basic but very nice.

« Lots of space but so uncomfortable »

The most important aspect of a hotel room is getting a good night's sleep. Unfortunately our bed was hard as a rock. The curtains on the east facing window didn't fit well so we were woken at dawn by bright sunshine. Room was very cold and heater was unbearably loud. So we got very little sleep. However it was an enormous room and had everything we needed, including a clock radio which was a bonus. Though this wasn't next to the bed, and there were no plugs next to the bed either. Overall I'd avoid unless you like an incredibly firm mattress.

    « Lovely Staff »

Stayed here recently while attending a month long training course, The staff are amazing. the reception and FOH staff are willing to help and will help you out no end! so top marks there! The rooms are large and spacious, the beds are, for the most part very comfortable, the furniture is grand, its a very nice well proportioned room. The bathroom is a decent size, and all of the rooms i stayed in were clean and well presented. The only problem is the shower temperature, but this was solved after asking the amazing staff. if you find that your shower goes from artic to lava, speak to the staff and they will fix! The food is good, quickly prepared, and its tastes good - always a bonus! breakfast is good, even meals are good, i cant say about the bar, but Im sure its great too! The staff will also order you a take away if you if you fancy one. Overall I would not hesitate to stay at the hotel again. really nice place, friendly staff and peace and quiet when needed.

    « Just don't bother »

We were welcomed by a young man called James who was very polite and helpful but from here our stay as brief as it was went down hill. The room was spacious but tired, tbh you get used to this in a lot of places in the UK and we just make the best of it. Hell who doesn't love a good 80's style wardrobe/desk in a room.   Our nights sleep was the real disappointment. After all it's why we get a hotel opposed to sleeping on a park bench, however the misfortune of my selection of this hotel meant our peaceful slumber was non-existent (and I fear I will never have a say in a hotel choice ever again).  Between the bed that felt like a bit of hard board and the pillows that were approximately an inch deep it was hard to get comfortable. However the constant rush of water 'style noise' (we assume through the a/c unit on the wall) was starting to feel like some strange version of water torture by 3am... by 4am we had debated just leaving there and then! But the 2hr drive home with nerves on edge and no sleep didn't seem like a great idea. We suffered through till 8 when we went for showers and the like. The bathroom was a bit grubby with the standard black mould/cream suite, with the fluctuation in water temperature like some cruel joke of a possessed hotel that hadn't finished it's water torture regime. Ironically about this time the water torture noises from the air con unit had subsided that had been present ALL night like a strange encore from a terrible comedian. Showered and red eyed we decided we would meet with our friends and have breakfast. Room behind us we thought we'd endured and came out the other side and the road home is in sight. Upon ordering breakfast we're then told that our rate didn't include breakfast... the strange 'web special' rate which happened to be exactly the same as our friends rate (also staying at the hotel) differed in that they not only escaped the water torture noises (not the hard beds and water temperature variations tho) but they would receive breakfast with their room rate. It was this point i think hysteria kicked in and I have very little recollection of the 2 hour drive home apart from wishing that I had stayed at the premier inn literaly 100m down the road!! All in all people. The reward points aren't worth the stay here. Just stop at the Premier Inn and relax with their Good Night Guarantee as this hotel simply can not guarantee a good night .... nothing but excuses that they are undergoing refurbishment!

    « Ok stay »

Hotel is in need of a refurb but overall the stay was fine. The room was clean and a fair size just in need of a makeover. Bed was comfy and there was a heater than warmed the room fast. The chap on reception was exceptionally polite and friendly and would be the reason for return visits. The kitchen was closed on the night we arrived so can't comment on the food. It's not terrible in any way as some reviews suggest! It's fine for the price paid.

    « One night stay »

Greeted at reception well, good check-in procedure. Lovely spacious room, just a little cold on arrival as no heating had been left on - soon warmed up with heaters in the room. Comfy bed, good nights sleep and lovely breakfast.

« Going the Extra Mile »

Stayed at this hotel and fancied a take-away. The receptionist ordered my meal, brought it to my room and even returned to bring me cutlery. He was polite and was happy to place order. He even paid for meal and just charged it to my room

    2
    « Oh Dear! »

The first thing to say is that the staff at this hotel are BRILLIANT! Unfortunately they have very poor materials to work with. The hotel itself is well past its best and has missed a series of refurbishments. Health & Safety is non existent - our room had a decommissioned A/C unit complete with hanging wires and live circuits. The bathroom was grubby and the actual room, although large, needed a good clean and a proper redecoration. The crowning glory is the 'leisure complex'. This is housed in a dilapidated shed across a muddy field with a flooded car park. We went to swim and a group of children were having a swimming lesson at the same time. the lockers didn't work. There was cupboard labelled 'dangerous chemicals' which was rotten with the chemicals falling out of the bottom. The pool itself was filthy. A cheap place to stay but Best Western have seen much better days.

    « Decent »

Stayed here during a work trip as had a meeting in the area. Hotel was sufficient if not spectacular. Staff were helpful with breakfast as my colleague is gluten free and made her an omelette upon request. Location is great to take a stroll around the lake.

    « Extremely helpful staff »

The staff here are amazingly nice and helpful. My wife lost her phone, and Clair, the house manager, and Connie and Roberta, the kitchen staff, helped her locate the phone and gave her a ride to the train station where she had left it. They went above and beyond their duties to assist in an emergency situation. I would absolutely stay here again for the service alone!

« Lack of proper heating »

My family member stayed in this hotel last night and due to the heating not working properly it was a cold stay, the hotel had run out of extra heaters for rooms, when reception was told about the heating not working properly ,customer was told" oh it problematic and there was no extra heaters left and that manager was going out next day to buy some more !!!! this is disgusting that this is allowed to happen and the hotel still charging for rooms. This was not a problem in just 1 room , hence the fact that no heaters left as all had been given out for other customers.

    4
    « City break »

The staff were very polite, as a weekend stay it was lovely, the place had everything you would want in the room plus there was free access to pool and gym. The food was acceptable but nothing special. Worth a stay if you don't want to spend a fortune...

    5
    « Lovely friendly hotel »

Reading some of the bad reviews on here I was a bit dubious about booking, but so glad I did. I have stayed in many hotels before and yes in this hotel the decor could do with improving and the restaurant isn't really a restaurant, more a breakfast room. But the staff here are so friendly and will do anything to help. The manageress was so helpful, even downloading a map of the area for us and advising of places to visit. The breakfast is lovely, and the rooms are huge, it is in a quiet location within walking distance to town but not too close you get all the noise and drunks outside your door.

    5
    « Nice place. »

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and found it to be excellent in all areas. The rooms were spacious, modern and clean. The heating worked as it should as did the shower. As an added bonus the window could open fully as opposed to the few centimetres most hotel windows are restricted to. The breakfast room was plain but the breakfast very tasty, freshly cooked and served promptly. Staff were friendly and overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

    3
« Not one of the best... »

Staff were lovely at this hotel but the hotel itself is one of the worst Best Westerns by a long way. Room smelled damp and heating inadequate and noisy, the tap was broken in the bathroom. The restaurant was basic, it was a shame as the staff were lovely.

    5
    « Best Western Aylesbury »

Spent 1 night here with my two small kids. The hotel was clean and perfect for our needs. The staff were very accommodating in setting up a travel cot for my baby and the sofa bed for my toddler. Beds were nice and comfy. We had free breakfast with our stay and had a variety from hot food to cereals and fruit and yoghurt, something for everyone. I would stay here again.

    « Service with a smile »

Arrived on Saturday to a warm welcome, Room clean and pleasant, breakfast was of good standard, on Sunday very attentive waitress, overhaul this hotel is worth checking out and definitely a leader in this area! well done!

    « lovely little stay »

i was greeted by a lovely receptionist who let me check in 2 hours early as i arrived at 12. housekeeping was just finishing up in my room so i was offered a free cup of coffee in reception. the room was huge biggest hotel room i have stayed in and it was lovely and warm when i walked in. the shower was hot and powerful lovely little stop over.

    « Weekend stay. »

Hotel room was very clean. Bedding was fresh and clean. Outside appearance looks tired in some places, but the interior is very good and clean, and well looked after. Location is very good, and it is easy to walk into town. Excellent value.

    « Never Again »

On arrival the place looks really nice, warm welcoming very friendly. The rooms are big and spacious but a little out of date, the bathroom has seen better days the sink was cracked and a few panels not fitting correctly, definitely in need of a refurb. The heating is supplied by what looks like an air con unit which was very noisy and kept me awake all night which spoilt the whole experience. The drinks at the bar are way to expensive and the breakfast is no way worth the money you spend, I would go find a local cafe and get it Cooked fresh and not deep fried and put in a warmer, as that what it looked like.

    4
    « always a great stay »

very good value good food value for money good staff ALWAYS FRIENDLY VERY HELPFUL good location near the centre of the town plenty of parking leisure centre near by for use A quite area and nice areas to have a walk

    2
« One of the worst... »

Stayed for one night on business and just needed a good nights sleep. The heating system was ratteling so loudly that I had to move rooms. The 'dining room' was a featureless freezing room and the food was barely edible (they acknowledge this and allow takeawsys in...). The whole place just felt unloved and out of date, but I assume convenient for motorway connections. Won't be staying again.

    1
    « Shabby »

Saturday afternoon arrival. What a miserable receptionist. No smile no welcome just bland rudeness. Whole hotel looks shabby and tired it needs a good lock of paint. The outside looks good as you pull up. Disappointment starts as you go through reception to the rooms. There was a young lady in the corridor who was cleaning she was very helpful. I suggest you give her the reception job and the receptionist is given cleaning. No air con just a shabby floor electric heater in the room. Is this allowed in hotels I felt it was very dangerous? No mention of no heating in rooms when we booked in. Bathroom smelled of damage. It was horrible. Very dim lighting in the room. Two lights above bed didn't work. Doesn't anyone test these things? Breakfast staff, how miserable I thought someone had died. They just stood behind the bar in a pack of three and looked terrible and miserable. No good mornings, no communication at all. There was wall paper peeling off the wall in the bedroom. The duvets are the size of a postage stamp. All in all this place is a dump. There are plenty more hotels in the region. Stay in the other hotels in the area. In my humble opinion.

    3
    « Dirty bedding »

Stayed here to visit family , spacious room but when I pulled back the duvet the sheets were dirty and crumpled , cleaner had obviously just pulled the duvet over the top . Could do with plugs near the bed to charge phone / laptop . Wouldn't stay here again . Looking at other reviews it looks like cleanliness is an ongoing issue , hopefully the manager reads these and takes this onboard or will lose a lot of future custom !

« Avoid like the plague »

I stay in best westerns up and down the UK almost every week - this is by far one of the worst I've stayed - rooms shabby, beds aweful and if your lucky not infested with bugs as rooms not clean to any standard you would be happy with

good hotel just needs a few tweeks here and there area quite nice hotel alright . breakfast was good evening meal needs looking at needs more choices . Room was warm and spacious and bathroom was also spacious

« Low cos hotel in convenient location »

This was a simple overnight only stay and as I like the individualism of the Best Western chain (as compared with the uniformity of Premier Inn etc) and as no Marriott or Hilton nearby I thought I'd try it out despite some poor reviews on this site. Location was found easily (just off A143) - note some mapping systems still show this as a Holiday Inn. Had booked an Executive room on a 'Winter Sale' rate including breakfast and was given a large, pleasant first floor, corner room with windows on two sides. Room was clean and well prepared, good desk, sofa and separate table with tea/coffee. Reception staff helpful - when I asked of there was a lift, help with bags was offered. Free wifi was slow but could 4G signal so no issues for me. Bathroom - with bath - was small but new, fluffy and large towels and reasonable toiletries. This was the first cold day of autumn and the aircon unit in the room decided it was still summer. Prompt response with portable heater and attempts to reprogram unit were eventually successful. Spare soft pillow in bag in wardrobe was welcome (so I did not have to bring in my feather pillow from the car) and ensured good sleep quality. Breakfast was average except for the cooked to order offer which was brilliant - really good, unsmoked bacon and nicely done eggs. All in all a good value b&b stay with great staff.

Only Best Westernin Ayesbury so little choice. Ideal if you want peace and quiet as out of town but easy to find . Small bar/restaurant lacks atmosphere. Good breakfast.Cheers. cramped when busy. Plenty free parking.

« Old hotel with a Nice staff »

The hotel is a bit hard to find (be careful of sat-nav directions). Once there, the outside area is nice (directly next to a health club that guests have access to) and fairly well lit. The hotel itself is rather old (think floral toilet tissue holders at gram's home). The rooms are spacious and well-cleaned but the entire room is rather drab and old. The area was quiet for sleeping but the bed was rather hard. The small bar area (serves as the breakfast room) was nice for a night cap and the gentleman who checked us in was also the bartender (he was extremely nice and helpful). The dinner options were very limited (I believe there were 5 options for mains) but there is a nice family style pub directly down the street (in nice weather you could walk there). We had the BnB rate and breakfast was lovely (full English) with very attentive staff. Would we stay here again....maybe. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't very good either.

  • 3
« Not the most attractive of hotels »

We booked this for location rather than anything else as we just needed to stop off over night. Positives were friendly staff and we had a comfortable nights sleep despite being right by reception. The room was a good size and there was plenty of hot water and good shower pressure. Negatives not a lot of choice of food and a tiny bar which was good in way as we were in the room opposite and wouldn't have wanted late night revellers .As mentioned before a very slight smell of damp but nothing we would have felt the need to complain about.

    3
    « Desperately needs a decor upgrade! »

We stayed here for two nights in September 2107 for a friends wedding. The outside of the hotel and the lobby are very misleading for what is inside. The room was clean enough, but extremely date decor. If you want a shower, make sure you're under 5 foot otherwise you can't stand up under it! The dining area looks like it belongs in the 70's, and if you can find breakfast elsewhere, make sure you go there! £11 for the smallest breakfast you've seen, no substitutions, and no mention of the other options.

    2
« Dirty room, dust, stains and mold not the best but you get what you pay for »

Dirty room, dust, stains and mold not the best but you get what you pay for. Would not stay here, pics on web slightly deceiving. Hotels needs a lot of updating, should have stayed in the nearby premier inn. Would not surprise me if this was to close down

    3
    « Good sleep »

We stayed here for 3 nights the bed was very comfy so slept well after a good day out. The room was a very good size , the bathroom was a good size but you had to flush the toilet a few times after use and the hot water taps made a loud noise when you used them even the shower. We eaten our first evening meal in the hotel , the menu was limited and overpriced for what you got on your plate but it was alright after a day travelling down . Had breakfast the first morning we chose a cooked English it wasnt to bad but we had toast and cereal the other 2 mornings . The carpark was free and plenty of spaces , we have no complaints really as we was out all day and eaten elsewhere except breakfast. Our bed was tidied daily and refreshed the tea etc . Free WiFi and aircon .

    5
    « good stay »

all staff were polite every time i needed there help. i couldn't get the WiFi to work the helped immediately. not far from town. surroundings very quiet so i had a very peaceful stay. will definitely stay again if i am in the area.

    1
    « Dreadful »

Stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip. Had I booked it myself I wouldn't have stayed even one night. Like other reviews the smell in the room was over powering of a musty horrid stench. It was still lingering on my clothes when I arrived home. I asked for an alternative room but surprisingly they were fully booked so could only provide some air freshener. The air con system didn't work, so no opportunity to increase some fresh air. Hotel is tired, in need of some investment or a bulldozer!

    3
« Tired hotel in desperate need of update »

My b/f and I stayed here for one night before travelling to London. On opening the door to our room the over powering smell of damp/ musty/ hit s and stayed all night. The window was open but that didn't help at all. The dated decor, the cracked sink, and the damp smell were a gr8 disappointment. The mattress was very comfortable and there was plenty of tea facilities. We had already decided to eat down the road and got up too late to try breakfast! The staff were very friendly. Potential to be a gr8 hotel but the sad state makes it a poor one.

    4
    « Quiet and Comfortable »

As a stop-over on the way to Oxford, we stayed in Aylesbury for one night. This hotel is a bit away from the city so that the hotel is very quiet ensuring good sleep at night. Car parking is free. Wifi is also free. The restaurant offers 2 choices of breakfast, continental and English full. In summary this hotel is a good value for money choice.

    3
« Tired Hotel In Need Of A Make Over. »

After a hot day spent in Milton Keynes at Gulliver's Land, we were very much looking forward to a stop over night here. The outside appearance of the hotel looks ok. Although the rough bit of land between the hotel and health club seems a bit of a waste land. The check in was quick and thorough. However the rooms air-conditioning wasn't working. At 35 outside the room was like an oven. A member of staff attempted to get it going, but no. Thankfully we were moved to another room, which was brighter and much bigger. Also the air-conditioning worked. Which I have to say worked superbly. The room was clean and smelt clean. However the furniture and bathroom was all very outdated. The bathroom in particular in need of fixing. The toilet seat came off, hot rail had wiring hanging out and the bath was well due replacing as the same for the 1970's tubed hair dryer. Regardless we slept well and the shower did work well enough. The breakfast provided was ok, but the dinning room was small and too hot. Two air-conditioning units which didn't seem to be on and all the windows shut? Made the eating experience uncomfortable. Overall we found our stay very average and were disappointed that on checking out we were pretty much ignored by the reception staff. Not even a goodbye. I would most likely chose another location to stay if I was to stay in Aylesbury again.

    4
    « A really good, value-for-money option »

I booked this break, then read some negative reviews, so we arrived with some trepidation. We did not have cause for complaint once while we were there (3 nights). The room was spotless, so what if the furniture was a little dated! Such things are irrelevant. The bed and pillows (a particular bugbear of mine) were comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. The water was piping hot with the best water pressure I have ever experienced in the shower! Breakfast was very good and plentiful. On the first morning, our 5-year-old daughter couldn't find a strawberry yoghurt, so one of the waitresses went to find one from the fridge in the kitchen! All in all, an excellent stay - especially for the price!

  • 2
    « Odd »

Not sure what to make of this hotel. Room was OK, but bathroom very tired with horrid lighting. Staff friendly enough, but no recognition for being a Best Western Rewards Member. Had to cancel second night due to change of circumstances, no refund given, although I accept this as pre paid booking. Bar/Restaurant area more like a transport cafe! Very limited choice, asked for poached eggs on toast, arrived more like poorly scrambled eggs! Not the best experience.

    5
« At the price more than expected! »

I was a bit concerned having seen some of the reviews but ended up being completely satisfied with this hotel taking into account the excellent value. There was a very slight "Un aired" smell in the room but not enough to be over concerned. The bathroom fittings were a little dated but everything was imaculately clean. The room was quite large and in good decorative order, the bed extremely comfortable. The staff were as helpful as I have ever come across, it was a pleasure to talk to them. There is very limited meal facilities but the basic menu is adequate, the Horse & Jockey is a couple of minutes walk away and all the food there was excellent as an alternative. I believe the cost of the stay must also be taken into account when giving a star rating, and considering the incredible deal here I can't fault the place for the few minor niggles.

    4
    « Work Stop over »

The staff really make this hotel. Friendly and helpful staff make your stay a good one. The rooms here are large with good hot showers, clean and tidy layouts and modern effective aircon. The room i had was dated, circa 1990s but it was fine. Did everything i wanted it to. A work colleague had a room across the hall which had recently been updated to a good standard. Menu was limited but had burger and steak options. Hotel will order in from a number of takeaways locally if you prefer. Breakfast was good size and selection. Warm and served quickly. Great location for easy access to town centre and then routes back towards Mk and beyond. Overall a good stay.

    1
« AVOID: The worst hotel I've ever stayed in. »

AVOID. The hotel it situation on a very rough patch of ground. It's beyond tired, smelly in parts and I felt it was quite dirty. We were going to put eight clients up here, but having the stayed the night before they were due to arrive, I booked the Premier Inn up the road for around the same money and cancelled our rooms here. Staff friendly. Breakfast passable. AVOID!

    5
    « great stay »

For what you pay it is very good value for money compared to other budget hotels. Staff very friendly, always asking how our day had been. Will definitely return when I visit Aylesbury again! free carparking

    3
    « A bit ropey »

Best Westerns are a mixed bag but they generally follow a similar pattern: OK about 15 years ago, tired bathrooms, no lift, mediocre staff. This is pretty much exactly as I found this hotel. The staff made life a lot easier for us by allowing us to stay under special circumstances at short notice and that's why they get a 3 and not a 2. The bathroom was hideous with a weird noisy pump that ran out of hot water very quickly. Mould covered the ceilings and was growing inside the toilet pan. The two single beds pushed together (which always annoys me) were comfy and the room was large. The gym over the car park was free to use but I was injured so couldn't use it. My wife approved. I was annoyed with the gym staff though because they were conducting large classes outside with the boom box blaring and this disturbed me in my room. The location is good with a relatively quick walk into Aylesbury. The bar prices were extortionate with limited choice so you're better off walking to a pub (there's one nearby if you turn left). It made it worse that while I was watching TV there, a Best Western advert came on featuring a guy in the lap of absolute luxury. My mouldy bathroom said otherwise...

    4
    « Nice Hotel »

Rooms are extensively spacious, Ideal for staying near Aylesbury. Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Good breakfast and this is also a pleasant bar area for an evening drink. The rooms are in good condition and have everything you need in the bathroom area. Good wifi signal, free in the hotel. Grounds are a little over run but there is a health & leisure club within very close walking distance.

    3
    « What a difference a day makes..... »

Visited Aylesbury to visit family with my 2 boys. Room a decent size, bed comfy enough but really dated. The water pipes must run through the room because I could hear the person who arrived at 3.15am having a shower. At 4.15 I could hear the heavy doors banging as someone else was making an early start. All in all not a great sleep. First morning breakfast was served with a snarl. We were made to feel very unwelcome, the table was dirty, cutlery was grubby and so was the crockery. Food was ok but other breakfast goers (who ordered after us) were served first and there was no apology. Our second morning couldn't have been more different. The lady serving was great with the lads, nothing was too much trouble and we didn't feel like second class citizens.

    3
« Does the best with what they have, staff very friendly. »

I stay around the UK in very different locations and classifications of hotel so I have a lot of experience to draw comparisons. I stayed here for 4 nights on business (booked on my behalf) and firstly I have to say the location is pretty good not far from town. I don't know if it was just this week, but there were lots of vans from what appeared to be motorway crews or builders and there was a lot of movement in the AM (more on that later). The hotel itself appears modern from the outside but inside its looking a little tired and I'm always sceptical of places where the lights are low as they can hide a multitude of sins. Anyhow, got parked and checked in easy enough and decided to eat dinner in the bar first night. Service really friendly with a limited menu; had the New York chicken and it was OK. Rooms are very spacious. I was at the end of the lower corridor in room 109 and it was very cool despite it being about 25-29 outside. In fact it was that cool I needed the heater on to warm it up! Decor inside is OK but again quite dated. Bed is firm but I slept comfortably. Bathroom looks like it could be modernised but it was clean. There was a damp musty smell from what I think was the carpet but couldn't be sure. Strangely my room had one new double glazed window and 2 old wood single glazed which was very strange. Unfortunately even though the bed is located the farthest it can be from the door, noise in the corridor is very bad and doors all slam. Also, if you are in room 108,109, 110 or 111 you are going to get disturbed from the vending machine and ice machine. I was woken twice by the vending machine noise and several times by people who seemed to have a fixation with ice at times beyond 2300 and at 0645 in the morning. Also the work men are up early and slam doors like mad at 6am. This was not welcome when you have a full day's work planned but even less so when you get woken at 6am and kept awake by the doors when you have a full day followed by a drive home which ended up taking me 7 hours; not impressed. So sound insulation gets a 0/10 from me. Breakfast was good with a well stocked choice of continental and an optional cooked full English. Dining room/bar is small but I never struggled to get a table at 0730 daily. I have to say that the ladies and gent that do the breakfasts are very efficient and look after you very well. OK it's not a breakfast buffet but choice, cleanliness and efficiency of the staff makes breakfast here excellent. Also found reception staff very friendly so overall it's a positive review from me for the staff. I do however wish I'd been in the Premier Inn round the corner as if I'd been woken up like I was, I'd have been invoking the goodnight guarantee! I'd just say that BW really need to plough some money into improving the hotel else it's only going to get even more tired.

« Overnight stay at Best Western »

Stayed here for first time. We arrived very early but they let us into the room 2 hours early. Room OK but a bit dated. Bathroom has Bath and Shower which were OK. We had evening meal which was OK and well priced. Hot and Continental Breakfast which were OK too although knowledge of Gluten Free goods was not good.

« Do not stay here! »

Firstly whoever wrote the description and put the room photos up clearly has never stayed here. I wish on seeing the room we had left. Had anyone cared to ask how our stay was id have gladly said. Externally it looks fine the car park was empty when we arrived perhaps this was a clue Hotel is very dark inside and tired. Room 208 was large but smelt of stale smoke. Very very dated holes in the wall, skirting missing. The bed was super soft and not comfortable. The only heating is the panel which is very noisy next to the bed. The bathroom was worse dimly lit dated with a mould patch on the ceiling. The shower was powerful thats the only good thing i can say. Not sure why there was a phone in there. We decided despite having paid for breakfast to go somewhere else. Had the staff been actually at reception i would have raised these issues even on checkout no one asked about our stay I would be embarassed if this was my establishment and we will not stay at a best western again. Our friends also stayed and were equally underwhelmed

« Very tired once outside of your room »

I couldn't fault the friendly staff and the ample parking. Furthermore, my room was spacious and pleasant, and the free wifi was adequate. However, the bar/dining room was, without doubt, one of the saddest and most drab I've seen for a hotel like this. Although well-cooked, the menu choice was very plain and limited, and the choice of drinks not at all impressive. OK for work, but not recommended for a treat.

    « Aylesbury »

This hotel was just out of the town so a taxi was needed if you did not want to drive. Taxi was very cheap. The hotel was quiet and there was lots of parking. Overall very good value for money. Would stay again if in the area

    3
    « Comfy overnight »

We only stayed one night and had a very large room with a super separate seating area. Yes the furnishings and decor maybe a bit tired but the room was very quiet, overlooking the outdoor grass area, clean and tidy with plenty of hot water and a comfy bed. Nothing to be concerned or upset about. Would stay again.

    2
    « Very musty odour »

Very Musty odour Room smell, heating system did nothing to help, made it worse, had to open windows, affected our breathing and sleep quaility, very noisy traffic outside when window open. will not be staying again. On a positive, the staff were very helpful, this Hotel is past its sell by date.

    « Beautiful Location »

We stayed at this hotel for one night when we visited Aylesbury recently. The hotel is modern, clean and tastefully decorated. Our room overlooked the enormous grounds which were beautiful. The only complaint we had was the sub-standard so called full English. There was no choice as to what we would like and the food was only just warm. Other Best Western hotels we have been to recently offered a menu which even included fish. The staff were polite and helpful.

    4
    « House hunting »

We stayed for 3 nights at the western and the staff were outstanding It was an early start to the day and the staff had a cheerful disposition When we returned on an evening they were chatting and welcoming it was a nice way to wind down The room was always stocked well for a cuppa and kept clean Would recommend if visiting Aylesbury for business or pleasure

    3
« Great service; hotel a bit tired »

Really helpful staff, i.e. Ordering takeout and putting on account to pay in check out was useful. The leisure centre and pool were a real bonus. Decor a bit tired. Mattress and pillows were not great, and the heating/hot water system slow and very noisy.

    4
« A bed even a princess could sleep in. »

We stayed at The best western for one night whilst visiting family. Despite the poor reviews I want to give a positive one. Lovely clean room , yes it could do with a modern bathroom but it was clean, spacious and the bed was lovely and comfy, when I fell into it, literally it felt like it wrapped itself around me, I slept all night and I'm a notorious poor sleeper. The shower was hot, and fast, the water regulated well, once I worked it out. Breakfast: plenty to eat and drink, although the 'restaurant ' was oddly placed, the cooked breakfast was tasty, hot and the staff very happy in their work and provided a swift service

    « AWFUL - AVOID! »

The dingiest room I've ever stayed in - run down, old fashioned and dingy! Dark, awful smell in the room, the loudest bathroom extractor fan ever, water doesn't drain away in bathroom and the decor is awful! Mattress is ridiculously firm we have had to put 2 blankets underneath just to make it reasonable enough to stay! So glad we are only here for 1 night otherwise I would be demanding a refund! This is an embarrassment to the Best Western brand!

    « Theatre Stay »

Conveniently located just a short taxi ride to the town centre. Reception staff helpful and friendly. Lovely sized room. Breakfast was adequate, though not the best breakfast I've eaten in a Best Western Hotel. Was not sure about whether the leisure facility was available to guests - perhaps this could be clearer.

    1
« I wish I read these reviews before going! I got bitten all on my leg! »

I stayed for one night, got bite marks all over my legs and when I emailed the manager he said he could see something wasn't right and would investigate this only to be replied back with other people have stayed there previously and I have had no complaints, they removed the thick blanket I used as it was cold and then told me I. Almost every email we look forward to seeing you next week and I have a new room. I wouldn't expect them to tell me other people have had the same problem as that causes problems for themselves, however I don't feel they really cared and it's a shame as I said the location is great but the decor needs updating, most of the staff are friendly when there not on google searching for clothes and ignoring you. I would not recommend this place and has quiet frankly put me off staying in a best western ever again.

    2
    « Best to avoid »

This hotel is really poorly run. The reception staff really couldn't care less and we felt that we were an inconvenience to them. Would not use this hotel again. Very tired looking and in need of complete refurbishment.

    3
« Stayed to visit hospital »

Good value hotel though not quite the standard of other Best Westerns. Good, well lit parking. Enough spaces for all rooms. Staff very welcoming and helpful. No proper restaurant but nearby pub in Watermead a mile up the road is good. Good facilities for wheelchair user.

    3
    « A good B&B not a hotel »

Having spent 3 nights here, we discovered to our cost that although it considers itself a hotel it sadly lacks the facilities of a hotel. It's 'restaurant' consists of 8 tables around a small bar, with a medium sized TV on the wall. The evening menu is extremely limited and our cod & chips were warmed through frozen cod fillets, frozen chips and a portion of mushy peas costing about £8.99 each. There was no lounge or anywhere to enjoy a relaxing drink before or after a meal. The decorator was painting some of the bedrooms and we almost walked on to his painting tray left on the floor, just the other side of corridor fire doors. Our bedroom was spacious and clean, although the decor was tired and the lighting dreadful. The breakfast, on the other hand was excellent with good service and the reception staff were helpful. Altogether this 'hotel' was overpriced and disappointing.

    3
« Good looking externals hide tired inside. food adequate. »

Stayed in a standard double room - bed and breakfast. Door key was prepared at reception, but did not work - needed reprogramming by reception. Room adequate size with bath. Bathroom slightly dirty sealant behind sink for example. Hot water good from point of use heater located in cupboard in bathroom. Shower over bath hard to control temperature. Room very cold on arrival. Room heater from wall mounted cooler /heater blower. Could not get to heat room (stuck on cool -19 degrees) and after receptionist trying, was reset in plant room to allow us to warm the room. Furniture adequate but tired - traditional wooden wardrobe. Hairdryer and ice bucket in room. Ice machine in corridor worked well. Vending machine in corridor. Only enough coffee and milk for one person - one pack biscuits. More available at reception on request. Disturbance at night when two youths tried to get products out of machine. Called reception night staff but no response for 10 minutes, by which time they had gone. Room handbook tells guests to call reception in an emergency. On this evidence if other had been real emergency such as a fire we would have been in serious danger. Evening meal choice very limited some went out - steak, pasta or salad, fish & chips. Hotel supports delivery of Takeaway food to hotel! Breakfast adequate. Continental breakfast buffet. "Full English" as they described it was bacon, sausage, tomato (burnt) beans and fried egg served pre-plated. No scrambled egg option or mushrooms. Furniture reminded us of cafe. Hotel guests have use of the on site health spar for free but its a long walk across the open car park so not tested. Summary: adequate hotel. No excessive luxury and inside needs some TLC

    « A one night stopover »

Needing accomodation for one night in Aylesbury we trawled available hotels and chose this one by virtue of it's position close to the edge of town and adjacent to local major routes. It was perfectly acceptable for a short stay, say on the basis we did, or for business visitors wanting a convenient stopover close enoiugh to town but readily accessible. Accomodation is standard and acceptable for this type of stay. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast (additional charge) was perfectly satisfactory.

    2
    « Dated and tired »

I'm glad I wasn't paying the bill for this over priced dated accommodation! Everything here is overdue replacement, it's like a trip back to the 70's. I had two awful nights sleep due to the noises from the air conditioner in my room even though it was switched off! Breakfast was ok apart from the out of date yogurt!! It's fair to say that as a regular visitor to the area I won't be coming back!

    1
    « How Disapointing »

So many issues! Rude Receptionist, Rusty Curtain Poles, Smell of mould in the rooms, Wallpaper peeling off the walls, dodgy décor. I would highly recommend the Premier in two minutes walk down the road!

    2
« Good value. Clean. Rude receptionist »

The rooms were very clean and well presented for the price paid. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable and the lady on the front desk was rude, unhelpful and abrupt. Any inquiry felt like a huge inconvenience to her. The breakfast room is very small and we were sent away as it was full.

  • 3
« Great hotel but beds let them down »

Great check in, staff friendly, clean, but seem to be having a refurb, only issue was the beds, very hard, I know this is better than being too soft, but you just could not get comfortable, great price, good location, meals slightly over priced, would return.

    5
« Yet another great stay »

Over the years we have stayed at this hotel numerous times and we have always had a very pleasant stay, our only slight problem was we both woke with sore shoulders, as beds are a little on the hard side, the staff were very very helpful and friendly, and also nice to see the staff who have been there for some time.

    4
    « Brume »

The hotel is pretty decent for the price...clean and quiet. The staff were quite polite, cheerful and helpful. The food was tasty...The meals prepared in the hotel were really good, and if you want something different they can help you order Chinese or Indian food. I had both. The wifi was very good as well! If you need somewhere quiet and not so fancy to stay especially if you are on a business trip, then I will definitely recommend this hotel.

    3
« Lovely staff but a big disappointment given it trades as a Best Western. Not what one would expect. »

Booked this last minute, and the reception woman was lovely, the room was fine....but the bar and 'restaurant' were like greasy spoon. Very, very disappointing given this is a Best Western, which is why we booked it. But I'd make the point again that if one goes into Starbucks one knows what one is getting. I thought it was the same with a Best Western - but this is a lesson that a Best Western is not a guaranteed standard. Will think twice before using other Best Westerns.

    2
« Does no credit to the Best Western name »

On first glance the outside looks impressive, but close-up it's shabby and tired. My room was large but with a distinct smell which, if I'm generous, was damp, but hinted at something worse. The bed was large and reasonably comfortable. No complimentary soap or shampoo was offered in the bathroom - just the nasty wall-mounted squeezy gloop which I regard as sure sign of a miserly hotel. Rubbish wi-fi in the room. Worst of all was the "restaurant" - little more than a bar/breakfast area offering an evening menu on a laminated A4 sheet with various chips-and-stuff items, cooked, it seemed, in a deep fat fryer situated just out of sight behind the bar. Oh, and the bar itself had a choice of beers ranging from Becks to ....er, nothing else. If pressed to list redeeming features, I'd say the breakfast was OK, and there's ample parking.

    2
« Tired and falling apart »

I stayed in this hotel on Saturday night for a family party as it was cheap. You gets what you pay for i guess. On arrival i was left stood in reception for a good 10 minutes before someone showed up to check me in and when they did were very short with me as though they really couldn't be bothered. The room stank of damp, wallpaper peeling off, plaster coming away. By the sofa there were cobwebs full of dust that looked like it hadn't been touched in weeks and to top it off there was mould on the shower gel dispenser attached to the shower wall below a showerhead that was encrusted with so much scale i was scared to use the shower at all

    4
« Friendly hotel, easy access, limited restaurant »

Very pleasant hotel with friendly and efficient staff and a good breakfast, car park and access to the Health club next door. Room was a great size with individual air-conditioning. Limited options in the bar/restaurant for food - very much a bar menu rather than a 'restaurant'.

    3
    « Oddly wonderful »

I needed a budget hotel nearish Haddenham and this odd little delight popped up on my search. Situated just outside of Aylesbury- our taxi into town cost £3.50 - this hotel is admittedly a bit dated. When we arrived the other half gave me a slightly disturbed look, but this quickly changed. The receptionist was lovely and couldn't do enough! The room was large and everything was clean. the gardens look nice - although it's more a random lawn with a statue in the middle?! The biggest oddity was the toilet in the bathroom - apparently a requisite for a 5 star hotel. This is not a 5 star hotel. This is however, a friendly, quirky, vintage reasonably priced hotel. One note - the kitchen didn't seem to open but there is a lovely pub down the road with a view of the lake!

    2
    « Smells & feels damp »

This hotel needs refurbishment and our room felt & smelled damp and the settee, although comfortable was stained. On the upside the beds were comfortable, breakfast perfectly acceptable and the staff pleasant & helpful..

    2
    « Damp smell »

Staff were helpful, and the breakfast good enough and acceptable but the hotel & particularly the bedroom smelled damp. The coach was comfortable but was marked and would have been fine if they had been removed

« Better management would help »

We arrived, were booked in and given our key. We went to our room, unpacked and relaxed until I tried to wash my hands. Having run the hot tap in the wash hand basin and bath for more than five minutes with cold water still coming through I decided to complain. The girl at reception admitted that she was not sure why but agreed to come to the room where she tried a few switches and asked us to see if things improved. After an hour I tried again but there was still no hot water so I returned to reception. We were offered another room but we did not want the inconvenience of packing and unpacking again so we were given the key to another room so we could have a shower. I made it clear that I found this all unacceptable and that I was reluctant to pay the agreed rate because of the trouble we had incurred. The receptionist said that she would find out if some compensation could be arranged. In the morning, having gone through the inconvenience of showering in another room, we went to breakfast. This proved to be surprisingly good, with a nice selection of cereals, fruit and yoghurts. The "full english" was exactly what was expected Overall, the hotel was adequate but there seemed to be this feeling of chaos which usually means that the management is not doing its job. The water episode put us off this hotel and we would certainly not return nor recommend it to others.

    « Best Western Aylesbury »

My stay was just a short overnight one on my wedding night! We appeared to have been upgraded into a very nice room at no extra cost. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone in the future. My aunt uncle and cousin always stay here when attending family events and recommended it to me.

« Comfortable stay with helpful staff »

We had two nights here, the rooms were comfortable and a good size, although a little "tired" in places. We had no hot water on the first morning but Chloe was so helpful. She tried to resolve the problem but when she couldn't, found us another room to shower in while efficiently arranging a move to a new room once housekeeping had been in. The two staff in the breakfast room were cheerful, patient and efficient, working with a smile even though the room is not big and it was extremely busy on the Sunday morning. Breakfast was great. A good value stay in a comfortable hotel. Not luxury, but fine.

    4
« Good Value for Money »

We stay a lot in travelodges, which whilst appearing more modern than this Best Western, can seem a little sterile. The room we were given was very large and as it had a sofa bed as well I assume it was the family room. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. Bathroom was impressive and the heated towel rail was a nice touch. The lady on reception on arrival seemed a little curt considering the place looked deserted and cannot have been busy. We did not see the restaurant as we were informed brusquely on check in it was shut. All in all I would stay here again the grounds are beautiful and the price very reasonable.

    4
« Good place to stay »

Stayed at b&b 20/8/16 , room 204, dated but very clean, comfortable beds and quiet place. Breakfast was varied and tasty. Good value b&b - reasonable priced pub walk away. Would stay again if in area. Staff polite and pleasant especially at breakfast.

    4
    « Visiting Family »

From the moment we arrived to the next day when we left, everything about the hotel was great. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful.Would definitely go back there again in the future. The location of this Hotel was close to the town and local amenities.Taxi fares into Aylesbury was only £3.50 and very prompt

    4
    « Nice Hotel »

We stayed here for a Wedding we were attending. Room was lovely very roomy and also quiet. We had all that we needed for a one night stay. People friendly and helpful. I left my scarf in the bar and they collected it and gave it back to me in the morning which I was so thankful. Restaurant and bar could be bigger as at breakfast you have to be up early to get a table so that's my only criticism.

    3
« Decent value for money but dont expect the Ritz for £114 »

This hotel is a bit away from the town centre which has its advantages and drawbacks in itself. Our room was clean, tidy and spacious with a great shower and comfortable double bed. Breakfast was good and I would certainly say 3 adults for B&B at £114 was good value for money. You get what you pay for but this place could charge a bit more if it just addressed a few small issues. A good coat of paint on the outside of the property is well overdue. The receptionist could be described as "functional" but a bit of enthusiasm would not go amiss. My wife remarked that I said "please" and "thank you" numerous times but the receptionist didn't say it once. To be greeted with "the chef is off tonight so we aren't doing food, but taxis are only £3.50 to town" didn't install too much optimism. Little niggles like only having 2 mugs in the room when there were 3 of us is something that doesn't happen in other hotels where attention to detail is important to the owners. The put me up bed certainly was functional but wasn't the most comfortable sleep Ive ever had.

    1
    « Beware added costs! »

I would never use this chain again. Booking system is hopeless and then they overcharged us. Complaints department did nothing and attitude of hotel was dismissive. Very unprofessional at best, verging on dishonest.

    « Overnight stay »

Stayed here 06/08 /16 for 1 night as was attending a family party nearby. On arrival hotel looks quite nice. Check in was quick and was given keys to room 207. Room was quite large but very dated, no fridge but tea, coffee kettle ect. After our evening out on returning at about 12.30ish we was going to have a drink in the hotel bar but was informed it was closed. Breakfast was included in the morning and must say it was rather nice full English plus a selection of fruit, cereal, pastries, toast jam ect and pots of tea and coffee. This is a budget hotel but good value for money though a bit out of town.

    5
    « Updated friendly hotel »

We stayed here for 1 Night while visiting friends in Aylesbury. We were delighted by the look of the hotel and our recently updated room was very comfortable. The only small criticism is that the grouting in the bathroom was very slapdash and rather ruined the effect. Breakfast this morning was delicious and served by very friendly waitresses. We went and looked at the swimming pool and although we didn't use it this time, we might use it in future. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

    4
    « Very helpful staff »

I was very impressed with the helpfulness of the staff at this hotel, from arranging our booking to kindly allowing us to have breakfast 30 minutes earlier than normal to allow us to attend the British grand prix on time. Large rooms but the hotel is in need of some modernisation, but everything was adequate and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast provided was very good with a large range of items to choose from.

    2
    « Dissappointing »

I stayed at this hotel many years ago before it became a Best Western. I only stayed there recently thinking that Best Western would have improved it. As a Best Western Diamond for life member I have certain expectations and have to say that this hotel failed miserably. It lacks character and personality overall. The whole hotel is tired and in desperate need of updating in terms of the rooms and the restaurant. The restaurant is too small and is in dire need of updating. With basic tables and chairs and very basic decor it resembled more something along the lines of a trucker's cafe.

    4
    « Made welcome »

We stayed at this hotel again in June, this time on a bed and breakfast basis, but on this occasion, I had an assistance dog with me who was made very welcome. There is a nice park just down the road with a pond and lots of ducks (no Aylesbury ducks unfortunately!) which was a great walk for us even with my wheelchair. At breakfast, again my dog was made welcome in the dining room, and was even offered a sausage, which unfortunately we had to decline, but it was a very kind thought. The breakfast was excellent - we had the full English. No complaints at all. For the energetic, there is a gym right next door, and it's not far from shops. We will definately stay in this hotel again and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone wishing to stay in the area.

    2
« Average - disappointed with sofa bed »

Stayed here for 1 night due to lack of availability in the area on the date we wanted. The hotel needs a little refurb and fresh coat of paint. The room was a good size but the sofa bed for my son was not adequate at all. Having checked at the time of the booking and giving my son's age they said it would be fine. However, upon staying the brochure in the room said it was only suitable up to age 12. My son was 14. The beds were uncomfortable. I would not stay again.

    3
    « Very average »

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights as our 'summer get-a-way' and even though I did get a good staff discount on the stay as I work for BEST WESTERN we were still fairly disappointed. On arrival, the receptionist seemed to have no want to be there - not a warm welcome at all. We were also then told that we had to pay a £30 p/night 'holding fee' (which we were not told about upon booking) and as a result we were the £90 down for the rest of the week!! Room was nice however for an executive suite, the bathroom was outdated and there seemed to be nothing extra added to the room besides a very nice air-con machine. Breakfast was disappointing. Staff were somewhat rude and we only had the option of a limited continental OR a very small full English which consisted of 1 sausage, 1 rasher of bacon, 1 fried egg, a raw tomato and a handful of beans. All in all a disappointing stay and we will not be returning - despite the excellent staff rate I received!

    3
    « Average overnight »

Stayed one night and not one I can recommend unless the location is important to the visitor. Service is simply ok both on reception and restaurant . Room was large and spacious and very ordinary with comfy bed 2 seater sofa and furniture. All very dated and average condition . Bathroom tatty and while area needs upgrade. We had a great deal on price and would only stay with that great deal again. Massively expensive on normal tariff for what you get . Breakfast less than good, and opted for cereal. So to arrive late and leave early is fine, not one for a weekend where you may need to spend time in your room. Clean and basic so sleep and go is fine.

    3
    « OK FOR A NIGHT »

Considering this was a cheap stay £50 for the night, and convenient to our venue, it was surprisingly good. Clean and comfortable beds, clean bathroom and nice friendly receptionists. Better than a lot of expensive hotels we have stayed in.

    4
    « Visiting friends »

I booked 2 nights to visit friends in the Aylesbury area. I had a lovely stay, and considering it was a heatwave found the air con so very necessary! Staff were pleasant and helpful, the local area of Watermead is beautiful, with a lovely pub that serves food an easy walk away from the hotel. To walk into Aylesbury itself would take 15-20 mins, or a regular bus route will allow you to do the same. I would happily stay here again.

« OK ,but could be much better... »

We stayed for two nights,as had a party in Aylesbury..The hotel itself is tired looking, but we know they are gradually improving the rooms..Wallpaper peeling etc....but i will say everything was clean, bedding, bathroom etc...which is the most important in my opinion. Breakfast was nice, only criticism is the staff bring your full English, before youve hardly started your cereal/fruit etc.So slow it down a little guys, you were all very friendly,so just a minor detail..... In general, you have a hotel in a fab position, just felt that some staff, maybe needed more customer service skills,More smiley faces would improve this place a lot,A friendly greeting on arrival, but shouldnt have to stand around ,while staff go off to finish another job.....Would we stay again?Possibly.

    3
    « Did the Job »

The hotel was ok... A bland statement but explains it perfectly. The hotel could do with a refresh but was ok. The room was ok and again could do with some improvements. My daughter (age 14) complained that the fold out bed was uncomfortable, but not sure how many of them actually are. Didn't eat at the hotel at all so cannot comment on that element. Overall it was well priced and worked for what we wanted, which was a base. Would I stay again, probably not.

    « Horrible musty smell »

Stayed for one night on business. This hotel really needs a face lift - carpets changed, bathrooms replaced. The room I was in had a horrible musty smell. They need to take some pointers from the PI next door. Only bonus is that you can use the fitness centre for free.

    3
« Cheap, clean, friendly, could be better. »

I stayed here on a Tuesday night for business and got a good rate £89. On arrival, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel clean. Ground floor rooms had a funny smell so went upstairs. My room was a good size if a bit dated. It was on the main road side so had a bit of road noise with window open. However, there was a modern air con unit in case I had to shut it. I found a tiny turd in the loo on arrival which refused to flush until halfway through my visit. The menu in the unatmospheric restaurant that was no more than a side room behind reception was highly uninspiring, (I.e. Omelette, cheeseburger, cod and chips, garlic bread, gammon and chips, pesto pasta and anything else that would not require any formal chef training to prepare) so I ate out. Beds comfy. A good cheap option if you just want to sleep and do nothing else in the hotel. Although why you'd want to visit Aylesbury for anything other than business is another question! The only other issue was the hot water as many other Trip Advisor reviewers had warned. Running the hot tap of the bath led to a noise like something taking off and a lot of spluttering and intermittent flow; water warm but not piping hot. Think they need to do something about that!

« Disappointed, stay in Best western. »

From arrival, when told they will add £30 to my bill in case I use any services ( not mentioned on web site when booked), room had cobwebs and dust on the lights, sink in bathroom with hairs in, sink was also cracked and very old to having a cold breakfast, I found this hotel a disappointment. I have stayed in many best western hotels all over the country. Never had such a stay like this one. This hotel is in need of desperate TLC, from the paint on the outside of the building with rust marks and paint peeling off, the gardens ( what a shame they could be so nice with some effort) to room cleanliness . I feel I have to say something positive, here goes the reception and corridors are nicely maintained.

    « Basic but clean »

Stayed for one night on a Saturday night in a big group over several rooms. Big rooms but basic. Bed was perfectly comfy. Toilet didn't flush properly. Was too hungover to try the breakfast! Not sure if I'd stay again.

    « Pleasent Stay »

This had not been my first choice, but I was unable to book in at a closer hotel to my work site. That said, this hotel did admirably. I am more than likely to use it again, even though it will be further away. The leisure facilities make the visit worth while, and it is sited within walking distance of Aylesbury centre.

« Decent Hotel in a quiet location »

Stayed here for two nights to attend a wedding. Easily located, good parking facilities and a friendly welcome. Room clean and decent size. Coffee making facilities were most welcome in the morning. Breakfast was an extra but worthy of the price with a very good Full English available. Staff recommended a good taxi service to get to and from the wedding venue. Would stay there again if I was in the area. Gmac

    « Reasonable Hotel »

Rooms look like they've been recently refurbished, they look alot better in the inside than the outside of the hotel would lead you to believe. Plenty of parking outside. Can't comment on the food however, there was only a small selection available so would recommend the near by Embur Inns at the Premier Inn which is within walking distance

    « Business trip »

Very convenient and easy to get to. Helpful and friendly staff. On site gym which is open to residents. Good breakfast both cooked and continental. Comfortable bed and powerful shower. The rooms are being renovated and I was lucky to have one with a new carpet. Maybe next time I'll get fresh decor too! The friendly staff made up for the tired wall paper. Window opened for fresh air which is nice as I don't sleep with the air conditioning on. WiFi was excellent However I would recommend eating out during the evening and the menu was limited with my option (the veg lasagna) being a poor effort.

    « Garden court Aylesbury »

Location of the hotel is ideal, close to main road and very easy to find. The hotel rooms are good but the decoration of the whole building leaves a lot to be desired. Although the hotel is next to a main road there was not any noise. Rooms are comfortably furnished with tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast would be better had in a café for better value.

    « Truly awful. »

I am as i type having the displeasure of staying at this hotel through work. There are 14 of us booked in. Upon booking in I am informed that the kitchen is small so no more that 4 people will be served at any one time. So we will have to work out a rota of who gets to eat when. As this is the case the hotel allow you to get a take away to be delivered and for it to be charged to our allowance. I can live with this as a work round. But when some of us come to order a Domino's Pizza (one of the three places they say we can order from) we are told we can't, as they have no cash to pay for it. So the ordering out that they offer, you cant have. Bare in mind they are getting £25 per man per night to feed us. So if they discourage us from eating there, (as a few of us have) they are on to a nice little number. On the room. The curtains don't stop light coming in. As night workers this is a problem. The shower has a mind of it's own. One minute freezing, the next, dangerously hot. This is when you can get it to work. I managed to find out that playing with the sink taps would kick the shower heat pump in to action. The shower head wont stay up and has about 3 jets it's so lime scaled up. This is of course when there is actually any water coming out of it. It seems to come and go like a bird finding food for it's young in the nest. Now to the bit that has made me put finger to keyboard. I was going to let the rest slide. I'm not paying for the room. So I can't moan to much. But if you are going to take bookings from people you know are doing safety critical night work, don't decide to fit new carpets in the room net to mine while I'm trying to sleep. I don't know if you know what is involved in fitting a carpet. 1: Remove all the furniture from the room while making as much noise as possible. 2: Rip out the old carpets making as much noise as possible. 3: Bring new carpet in and cut it to shape.... 4: Now for the noisy bit. Get a metal bolster and smack every inch of the carpet in between the gripper rods and the skirting boards, repeatedly. Upon complaining to the manager I am told these thing happen, and that the hotel is full so they could not have put me in another room. So when he offers to put me in another room so I can get some sleep, he either lied to me, or was going to put me in someone else's room. Either way it's irrelevant. I'm now up. 3 hours sleep and that's it. I doubt I will manage to get any more now. Truly awful and clueless.

    « convenient and quiet »

A well located and quiet hotel with easy access for M25 and Milton Keynes. Rooms are large and clean, small bar/restaurant not tried. Had a good breakfast, plenty of cereal, fruit and juices. Hot breakfast cooked to ordered and hot toast delivered to table. We walked a short distance to Watermead village to pub restaurant for a plenty meal. Outside seating overlooking the lake on nice evenings. Decor at hotel is a little tired but all very clean.

    3
« Best thing about the hotel is the location! »

Staff were average. Room was average. Décor needs tlc. Nothing fantastic to write home about at all. The location is its one redeeming quality - it's within a 10 minute walk to a lovely lake with a local shop and a restaurant bar, The staff here were great, very friendly and welcoming.

« it was not an inviting place to stay »

Over priced Hotel we stayed for two nights 4 adults and all agreed on the following remarks. rooms very very basic no slip mas in the shower bat not suitable for any on with hip problems toilet did not flush towels smelt of cooking. dining room come bar very small, the tables were very sticky plates and cups stuck to tables it as a very uncomfortable place to sit for a drink. Breakfast was adequate to good plates were greacy free they gave one what ever combination one wanted in a fry. Tea Good and cup/mug were a good size. waitress need a bit more table training. The receptionists were really helpful good parking and close to town

    « Smelly »

The receptionists were really helpful and kind, but the rooms and halls were damp and stinky, and our room was not clean. Wi-Fi and parking were good. There was also an interesting statue on the grass next to the hotel....

« Good Value and comfy »

What it says - good value for a large double room with tea/coffee making facilities, good parking and close to town but with a rural aspect, and after a long fifteen hour travel day the bed was delightfully comfy and don't remember much else. The staff are welcoming and helpful 24/7 and breakfast is more than adequate. I don't have a single complaint - it's as good as anything locally and costs less. The wi-fi is free and works well, and there are bars and restaurants within walking distance. I'll always go back until they get it wrong but, for me, I expect that to be along time coming.

    4
    « nice locaton »

had an overnight here checking in was easy, friendly staff and no problems the room was fine clean and comfy WI-FI was good. didnt seem to get a great deal of noise from the road. Breafast was good freshly cooked and a fair choice. The bar come dining room is quite small. we ate here as we were very tired had fish and chips and a bottle of wine which was not so good the batter oft the fish was hard and the fish tasteless, the mushy peas were dry and the wine was over priced. in fact the dinner was not good value for money. but apart fro that it was good.

    2
« There must be better than this! »

Issues for me were: 1) Nearly tripped over the trouser stand as I entered the room for the first time (it was right in the middle of the entry corridor) 2) Noisy - Circus music opposite and road traffic noise was not blocked out - no insulation from the windows 3) Mirrors and Shower all too low (I'm 5ft 11) and had to stoop under the shower 4) Hot water ran out half way through shower 5) Toilet blocked/wouldn't flush 6) Poor choice of food in restaurant (very pokey) - had to walk up the road to find food 7) Breakfast was ok 8) Receptionist reasonably friendly

    3
    « Social evening »

Team meeting and overnight social. Hotel is cheap and cheerful, don't expect luxury, clean rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast was nice. Free passes to gym next door is a bonus. Nice setting on the lake, with large green areas, great when the sun shines.

    « Our 2nd visit »

This was our second stay, its been 2 years since our last visit. The rooms are clean, tidy and housekeeping do there job well (shout out to HK! Sometimes forgotton). The decore is up to date and looks fresh and new. The staff are friendly without being imposing. The hotel is quiet at night very little noise from the corridor (one of my biggest worries in any hotel). They can provide feather pillows (I did a swap with my daughter). Breakfast is simply but tasty; full English or continental, the waiting staff are friendly they probably won't mind you trying everything on the breakfast buffet! Just beware of the coffee too strong for me in the morning! No problem I just had tea...or hot chocolate! Good to know; they don't have a lift but booking through Best Western you can request ground floor rooms...which we will. Also they have accessible rooms on ground floor as well. There is a gym and small pool which residents can use ( we didn't have time to view this). Over all really great to stay at, and at time of booking other hotel chains in the area could not complete on price.

    « Best Western Aylesbury »

We stayed at the Best Western in Aylesbury, whilst attending a wedding nearby, we found the hotel to be extremely nice and modern, the bedrooms were spacious, clean, and the beds very comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming, I would definitely stay there again if I was in the area.

    3
« Good hotel for short stay »

Easy to find, plenty of parking, flat access for wheelchairs. Our room was located on the ground floor, and had two single beds with white linen. Room was quite large, clean and tidy as was the bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities in room with extra sachets available from reception. Close to shopping centre with restaurants so we didn't eat in the hotel restaurant which we found to be a bit pricey. There is a leisure centre right next door. A good hotel for a short stay in the area.

    4
    « Pleasant stay. »

Comfortable well managed hotel with pleasant staff. Room of good size, clean and comfortable. Slept well. Breakfast freshly cooked and staff helpful, professional and pleasant. Convenient location in green surroundings.

« Aylesbury stopover for Wedding Reception »

Unfortunately the choice of rating on Trip only allows for Average, or, Very Good, for this Hotel I would have given good on the basis of; value.comfort, breakfast, location in that order. Six of us from the Northampton and Milton Keynes areas were attending an evening reception for friends, and fellow MKD supporters, Alex and Naomi. Apart from a few initial niggles, cold rooms, and water, which were resolved, accommodation was of a decent standard. Rooms are large, and airy, with in most cases a separate reception area with sofa and table and chair, plus tea and coffee making facilities plus complimentary biscuits. The bed was comfortable, the bedding, and pillows, of good quality. In the bathroom, there was the option of a bath and shower, water temperature was fine, two little minuses, were one that getting out of the bath could for some be tricky as it involved a fairly high step over , apart from that it was strange that the fitted sink arrangement was of a off creme colour, whilst the bath and toilet was white. Breakfast in the morning was in the dining room/ bar which as some people have mentioned is initially hard to find as it is at the start of the corridor off reception and although there is a large sign on the wall indication Festaurant, the door seemed more like a utility room. The choices offered for breakfast were good, cereals, fruit, rolls and croissants, plus a decent cooked breakfast, served by a very friendly and efficient staff member. The location was ideal for our purposes as it was a short taxi ride away from the reception location. The Garden Court provided a decent stay In a pleasant location, at a reasonable price.

« Superb Value for a Hotel for Aylesbury »

I have been staying at the Best Western Garden Court in Aylesbury for most of the last 3 months so I feel I am in a good position to make a balanced and fair review of the Hotel. Certainly for me, it has proved a superb place to stay. i've had about 6 different rooms, and the staff were helpful in my request for a room facing south as the phone reception on the north side of the hotel was poor (on the 3 network). As i'm now a diamond member i get a free upgrade to exec rooms, which are no bigger than the standard rooms but have extra windows, are quiet and have a huge tv. The Hotel internet has just been upgraded from about 125kbps ladt month to about 6Mbps now - serious improvement! Its still slower than my tethered connection on the phone but is a great backup should there be network issues on the mobile network. Because i stay for 4 nights at a time, i get an excellent "extended leisure break" rate which is cancellable, includes breakfast and has thusfar worked out at only £60/night, which is excellent for the area. A big plus as far as i am concerned is that use of the private health club is included. Its only a 2 min walk (if that!) and the pool there is excellent (13m long and deep enough to swim properly at both ends - a lot of Hotel pools are so shallow at one end you cant swim in them!). The gym is well equipped and the staff there friendly. I use the facilities almost every night i am there so feel i get very good value from the £60 a night i pay. The best western rewards scheme has also earnt me nearly 40000 points already since xmas (3 months ago)this is worth £100 as Amazon, Next or other vouchers. Alternatively i could use them to pay for 2 nights stay. I have only eaten an evening meal on one occasion. The food was good but the Restaurant/Bar area is quite small and to be honest i dont like eating out alone. I havent eaten in the Restaurant in the evening again, although i would if i was with a group or with family. I have a good breakfast at the Hotel most mornings. The breakfast service is fast, taking only a couple of minutes for a cooked breakfast, with a nice freshly fried egg. They obviously have bacon and sausages ready to go.. And thats fine. Time is money so they say and the fast service in the breakfast room is exactly what i require. As far as the staff are concerned, ive got to know all of the receptionists and cooks, waitresses and the Manager and they are all pretty friendly. The manager is always friendly and professional, even when i accidentally triggered the fire alarm with steam from the shower one morning. It was all sorted out quickly without need to evacuate the hotel (luckily it was about 8am so most people were already up). The rooms at BW Garden Court are large, have proper drawers and cupboards whereas PRemier Inn only has cubby holes in the area outside the shower rooms. The rooms at BW all have a comfortable sofa in a little area which is distinct from the bedroom area. This area also has a table and coffee and tea facilities. Its like having an extra room (even though there is no real separation between the areas). This all makes the stay at BW Garden Court all the more comfortable. The cost of staying there is increasing from April but its still competitive with other Hotels of a similar quality in the area.

« Needs some TLC but good value »

This hotel is easy to find, on the edge of town and has a large car park. My room was a good size with nice decor although the outside wall seemed to be suffering a bit from damp. Wifi was good and breakfast was cooked to order. The gym next door was decent, plenty of machines and sensible opening times. The shower in my room had two settings, scalding and ice, so would have been entertaining to watch! ?? I would have mentioned it on checkout but I don't think anyone would have been interested, a bit more customer care training wouldn't go amiss.

    « Poor but enjoyable »

One attitude is price , don't think is cheap but compare to hotels nearby is cheapest. I have to admit that I slept well, heating is working well, rooms are spacious.Breakfast is normal, nothing special but enjoyable, was little be annoying noise coming from the kitchen, I presume I missed good joke, coz about 15 minutes staff had good time. Otherwise is good, probably I'll back there if I'll need hotel.

« OK but prices on the high side for value »

Smallish hotel on the outskirts of Aylesbury, welcome (like so many) sadly was a group of people all smoking outside the front door. Check in good and efficient, room much nicer than anticipated. Double bed, sofa, big bathroom, very pleasant. On the ground floor on the road side but I didn't hear anything from traffic. Breakfast nowhere near value for the extra £10 for my view. Wifi free, but so slow as to be unuseable, which would be an issue had this been a work stay. OK if you need somewhere to stay, but over £70 seems a lot for what it is.

    « One night stopover »

I stayed in the Best western Garden Court during a business trip to Aylesbury. Check in was okay, the room was okay with plenty of space. Although there was draft blowing through the ill fitting window frames which caused the room to become cold during the night. The bar and restaurant are basic at best. If you want a choice of beer you will be disappointed. There is one draft lager and that is it. If you want wine by the glass there is a choice of...1. Finding the bar is a feat itself. It is hidden behind a door that looks like every other one in the corridor. Breakfast was okay, well cooked with a good selection of cereals and fruit. The staff are the best part of the experience. Every one of them is friendly and helpful.

    « 3 Star rating ? 2 Star standard. »

I stayed here for 3 nights on business and it served my basic needs - just. The good points are that the staff are all friendly, there was plenty of hot water and a powerful shower and the rooms were warm. So why the title ? the hotel offers a free Wi-Fi throughout which was a decider for me but on arrival we were told that it was down and the responsibility of on outside company indicating it wasn't really there fault ? well Im sorry but my contract was with you and I paid for a service you couldn't supply and you failed to make me aware (even with a temporary note on the web) prior to my arrival. This became more frustrating when the Wi-Fi did come back on during my last day of stay but there seemed no enthusiasm to inform the guests with a notice in the foyer or codes left in the room ? if I hadn't have asked I do wonder if I would have ever known. The bar has a very limited selection and is really a glorified dual purpose breakfast room. The web does not indicate any fitness facilities but there is free use of an adjacent fitness centre with the use of your room key ? it's a shame this fact isn't on the web (if it is I didn't spot it). The rooms, though warm, were dingy with very tired décor and extremely poor lighting. The cleanliness was also poor with dirt/mould engrained in the bathroom corners. Whilst preparing to leave I dropped a small item on the floor and had to use my phone torch to search for it I discovered a discarded nail clipping from a previous guest on the carpet under the dressing table, and there was a piece of cellophane that remained just inside the door for the duration of my stay which indicates that the cleaning could be more thorough and is probably not checked by the management. I won't be staying again and would probably elect to use the Premier Inn nearby that is served very well by a good pub.

    3
« Basic accommodation with limitations »

Big bedrooms plenty of space but dated. Limited menu in what they call a bar. Bar area more like a room with some tables and a bar serving area with very little to offer. Lacking in atmospher. Wifi not working.

« Fallen out of love and my last choice now :( »

Stayed at this hotel quite a few times over the years, found the staff to be nice, friendly and accommodating as well as reasonable to additional requests. It is actually my go to hotel in Aylesbury and having recently launched a new business venture in Aylesbury, my new second home...well it WAS. When we arrived the night staff lady who let us in was extremely moody. We had no towels in our room and when I called to notify reception I did not even get an apology and we will bring some but instead when they arrive at my room she said "there should have been some on the towel rail". Well yes I know there should, I would not have called to get some if there were? A simple sorry and here you go would have been fine. Having stayed here many times in the past, when I had a late (early morning) arrival the staff were nice and gave a little extra time for check out the next morning. This time I had overslept and rang reception to ask if we could please have an extra hour. I was told it will cost 30 pounds (over 50% of the actual room rate for the NIGHT) to have one extra hour. On what planet is that justifiable in any way!!? I then said I am a regular customer, it has not been an issue in the past and the hotel is not fully booked and could they please give me extra time to get ready , the response? "It is 30 pounds". I addressed this again at the desk expecting at least some sort of understanding/empathy. Same response, yes so its 30 pounds for an extra hour. Sorry Best Western, this needs reviewing for more than one reason.

« Handy location for family visit »

Five of us stayed here for one night, and overall it is not a bad place. Rooms are warm with excellent in-room temperature controls, lovely powerful showers and excellent pillows provided. Tea/coffee always a welcome sight in our bedrooms. The breakfast too was very good indeed, swift service and a great start for our long drive home. All I would say is that the wooden window frames appear to need replacement, as did our mattress - we kept rolling into the middle! However, this did not spoil our stay.

« Cold business stop over »

Stayed here on 25th January for a business stop over. Receptionist was very helpful as was the lovely lady behind the bar. That's about as good as gets for me, the room is in need of a make over redundant fixings, dirty wallpaper and a washed out colour scheme makes the place look and feel shabby. The was two very disappointing things for me, first was the heating system it is a joke air conditioning unit that would not provide hot air despite the thermostat control's calling for heat. If you wanted to get warm you either sat in the toilet with the towel rail on or got in to bed which is no good when you want to do some work. I would not recommend eating in the so called restaurant as to be quite frank what I was served was a disgrace, I ordered a medium sirloin what a I got was a pre cooked flash fried steak with twice cooked chips, the only decent thing on the cold plate was the salad at least they kept that cold. As a passing through business user I can't recommend this hotel as you will not get decent fare or a warming comfortable room at the end of your tiring day, which is a great shame for me as I do generally like BW Hotels. I will definitely be writing to their head office once my fingers have defrosted.

    3
    « Not great »

The room was great, but i felt it was an inconvenience to the staff that I was there, I ordered cheese burger for dinner and it looked and tasted poor quality, for the price I would have been better off going to a burger chain, the wifi was very slow, in fact I gave up on down loading some programs from BBCi player because it was so slow

« They made a bad weekend so much better for us »

We have stayed here 4 nights since New Year. With my elderly parents, our son and daughter in law. All due to the sudden illness of my dear Sister. The staff have been excellent, they even made us sandwiches on New Years Day night when we arrived late and the restaurant had closed. The rooms are large, comfortable beds and excellent breakfast. Thankyou to the chef who sent my breakfast to the hospital the night i sat with my sister. I'm glad to say my sister is recovering now. The staff and accomodation at this hotel made our journey so much easier. Thankyou.

    « Mmmm what can I say ... ?? »

Nothing like the website says!!! The 1st picture on the website isn't the hotel, it's the health club next door - as we saw from our room window (pic4) The decor in the room was very orange and very dated. Crisps on the floor(pic2) spillages on the side by the bed (pic 3). There were about 8 lights in the room. You either have them all on or non on. Apparently there was free wifi, we couldn't connect at all. When you enter the hotel is smells very musty. Not inviting at all. When checking in they place a holding fee on your card, that's not explained. They also wanted a £30 deposit on the room when paying by cash. Again knew nothing about that. The only positive thing I have to say about this place is the bed was comfy. I wouldn't recommend this hotel and I certainly won't be using it again! We paid £60 and it wasn't worth that much

  • 2
    « Basic and dated »

This hotel needs an overhaul, its very dated. Especially the bathroom in the room, (circa 1995) which though clean was ugly, and the plumbing needs some work. Room smelt of pain, as they had obviously tried to freshen it up.

    4
    « Ronseal hotel »

Don't get me wrong this isn't the best hotel I have stayed in but by no means the worst it does exactly what it says on the tin. The rooms may be a little out dated on the decor but they are both very clean and tidy and probably one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. They serve a very good hot breakfast but the dining room / lounge is like sitting in a road side café or a B and B and not a place to unwind after a days work. All the staff are extremely pleasant and do go out of there way to help you from recommending near by restaurants or arranging late check outs. If you are up to it the spa fitness center across the lawn is a nice way to spend a couple of hours in the pool or gym. Close by a few minutes drive away is a enjoyable pub the Watermead Inn which sells good reasonable priced food and a good selection of cask ales you can sit outside and enjoy the lake well worth a visit.

    3
    « If you need internet...stay away! »

The High Speed internet was anything but. I would never recommend this hotel for business as you will not get anything done. As a Diamond Member in the BW Program, I stay at the hotels for business constantly and this was one of the worst with regards to be able to get anything done.

    5
« Beautiful Property, Standard rooms, Nice Staff, Excellent Breakfast »

This is a lovely property. It has a well above average breakfast served in their restaurant, and the room was par for what I expect from a best western. My husband and I stayed their for 9 days as a base for checking out some UK universities. It was a great home away from home, and everyone was very friendly.

    3
« Uncomfortable bed but nice staff »

I stayed at this hotel for one night. The staff were very nice and the hotel and room looked nice. Unfortunately the bed was too hard and there was a vending machine down the hall from my room that I could hear running all night. If the hotel solved these problems then I would be happy to stay again.

    5
    « Highly satisfied overall »

I booked this hotel for 5 nights for my parents during their visit to Aylesbury mainly because of the pretty setting and surroundings. They were highly satisfied by the size and cleanliness of their room and most importantly with the customer service they received. They were also very happy with the breakfast, the only thing they did not like was the vegetarian sausage. Personally, when I saw the bathroom I definitely felt the need of an updating because the bathroom/toilet seemed to be from the 80s. However, they did not complain because their overall experience was great.

    4
    « It's not to bad »

After reading the previous reviews before I arrived, I was expecting a dump but was very surprised as it's not that bad at all. Reception was pleasant when I checked in, the room was clean and comfortable and although it is a little dated it is not old in that things are falling apart or hanging off walls. The breakfast was good and over all I am pretty happy with my stay.

    2
« OK but expensive for what you get »

Stayed here for 2 nights when working in the area. Location was fine and free parking available. The positives... Spacious room, comfortable bed. The negatives... The front of house female did not seem to be interested in the slightest and was very dippy. The room cost was quite expensive for what you actually got and the décor in my room was very tired. The room was also freezing when i arrived and given they were full would have thought a bit of heat would have been welcoming for the guests given all rooms were taken. OK this is not the Ritz but for £85 a night room only I would have expected windows that shut properly (they were not double glazed and rattled in the wind so were draughty) and a shower that the temperature could be easily controlled. Sadly neither was the case. The free wifi simply did not work and neither my laptop or phone would connect to it. To get a better, faster service the cost was prohibitive so gave that a miss. Trying to pay on arrival and get a receipt for the full stay - 2 nights - was just impossible as the "System updates over each night" so I was told. The restaurant I gave a miss as I had read previous reports and expected good value for money and have a rule that I NEVER pay for microwaved food. Likewise the bar, I don't drink when I am away so cannot comment on the standard, stock or prices. Overall... Room was clean, a comfortable bed but the place needs to have money spent on it without the cost being passed on to the paying guests. Would not bring my family here until it is modernised - they deserve more than that. Now is that too much to ask for?

    « Very disappointing »

Let's start with the one positive. The room was comfortable and spacious. Where do i start with the rest. For £133 for one night this was very poor value. The staff looked bored with no smiles or greeting on arrival. The bar was cold and uninviting with poor beer choice. The food choice was very limited and poor quality. The salad with the steak was a single lettuce leaf! I asked for ice cream with the crumble rather than custard only to be told they didn't have any. Strange as the other offering was a mix of ice creams! Breakfast was ok but again served by the same glum looking lady from the previous evening. Also the wi fi didn't work Only stayed there as it was booked for me. Never again i think.

Ok for the price paid. Hotel needs a refurbishment. Breakfast choice was good apart from the cold uncooked pastries - still in packaging (needed reheating). Sofa bed was very uncomfortable. Receptionist on arrival was grumpy. Other staff were very friendly and nice.

    « Weekend break »

Room very spacious and clean. Décor somewhat tired. Small dining room, doubling as bar not warmly welcoming. Grounds beside hotel in dire need of improvement, could make a much more pleasant whole environment. Breakfast adequate but food not hot enough. FOH staff did not seem over enthusiastic.

    « Poor »

The photo's and description of the 'hotel' on the website are misleading........I don't expect luxury for £100 per night but expect more than Garden Court offers..............bar and restaurant - a stretch to call it a restaurant and bar............room - freezing when arrived and very dated............surely better places to stay for £100 per night

    « Depressing »

The first impression was not good. We had an indifferent welcome by the unsmiling receptionist who just seemed bored. The reception area was dreary as was the room. The curtain pole was dangerous as when opening the curtains in the morning the pole came off the support at one end and the substantial knob fell off narrowly missing my head. The pole was obviously not fixed properly to the brackets. WiFi was poor and the connection intermittent and I gave up. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bottom line is that I would not stay there again even though it was cheap. The whole place has a depressing atmosphere. I was glad we were only there for one night.

    « Needs a refresh. »

Was ok but for £75, no breakfast, I felt the room was very tired. I was meeting my friend who was over from Singapore, and location wise, was the closest hotel. On the plus side, it's in a lovely area, water mead and very pretty. Have stayed there before but got a good deal on the room that time.
