"Poor staff-client relation"

25/08/2018

We make the reservation directly through their site. One of the reason for choosing this hotel was the airport shuttle service they provide. I booked a room for 4 nights with a baby crib. 2 hours prior to our departure, they sent me an email, telling me that the airport shuttle is cancelled. I had to make a different arrangement for that. We arrived in the evening at 9.30 pm. We were given the room 401. When I go up, no baby crib in the room. The receptionist told me that there was a problem and we won't get one till next morning. He offered us a free breakfast in the morning, although the booking included it. Next morning, we were phone woken by another receptionist, who told us that we now have the baby crib but we have to change the room. The breakfast was good, international, there was there such a nice and calm lady. One day before our departure, I asked the hotel for the airport transfer to Beauvais. I was told that it is arranged for 5.30 pm next day. At 5.30 pm, no car obviously. The lady in the front desk called the driver who told that he will be 30 minutes late. So, we had to take a taxi in order to arrive in time to the airport. I really don't know and understand how is it possible to have no obligation for the hotel in this situation. They just told me it can't be done. Simple. It is a much fair attitude to not include airport transfer in this situation. Beside that, the hotel is nice, very close to Madeleine, clean.

03/07/2018

I occupied room 509. Very nice room. We checked on June 28th. The lady who received us was really rude seemed not to be a professional. We still have a bad impression. Even my children are still disturbed by her hospitality. The guys at the front desk were really gentle men. Night and day shift. House keeping really nice and helping people. Good break fast.

, Responsable relations clients at Best Western Hotel Folkestone Opera, responded to this review
Dear Madam , First of all we would like to thank you for choosing our Hotel . Concerning the inconvenience on your check in we would like to apology if the way it was donne seems to be rude . But unfortunately the initial room booked was for 2 people and on you arrival you were 4 people . She tried to explain the legaly maximum occupancy is 2 people in a room . That's we suggest you to store the luggage of the members of your family in our luggage to avoid an uncomfortable check in in your room which the space will be limited for 4 people and their luggages . Afterall for your next stay we suggest you to try our adjacent room which correspond to a family from 3 to 4 people . We are pleased that our staff did satisfy your attempt night and day and hope have the pleasure to welcome you soon . Kind Regards. Kind Regards.

Location is good. Hotel staffs are kind.. Air-conditioned but very small and old-fashioned room. The worst thing was corridor stinks like a sewer! It has an elevator but you might need to wait if you want to check out in the morning since it is extremly tiny. Breakfast is just BW style.

, Responsable relations clients at Best Western Hotel Folkestone Opera, responded to this review
Dear Guest , thank you for taking time to share your feedback of our Hotel . Concerning our elevator effectively in the rush hour time it is busy . Concerning smells of the corridor we did the necessary quickly . We are pleased that our staff did satisfy your attempt and that you could enjoy our hot&cold buffet . We hope have the pleasure to welcome you in the newt future . Kind Regards.

05/06/2018

The only place I would stay in Paris! Short walk to opera, Louvre and champs elysees, round the corner from la Madeleine, beautiful safe neighbourhood, restaurants and bars nearby and on same street, bakery, shop, restaurants etc, the room was small but adequate and nicely decorated, breathtaking rooftop terrace where we ate breakfast and lunch overlooking the rooftops of Paris!

, Responsable relations clients at Best Western Hotel Folkestone Opera, responded to this review
Dear Guest , We are pleased that our terrace room did satisfy your attempt .we do our best to offer you the best quality of service and comfort . We will be pleased to share with you a coming stay in Paris . Kind Regards.

The Good - Comfy Bed, minibar stocked with soft drink, breakfast is ok. Staff - very pleasant and friendly. The Bad - the view from the room... see the photo... The Ugly - No air con... even though it is advertised as such

We had a last minute change in France so booked this hotel a day before arrival. This hotel was chosen mainly because of its location as its close to a few metro stations and close to many shops and restaurants. Friendly and helpful front office makes checking in a breeze. Hotel is somewhat run down though. Room carpet greyish, toilet door knob falling off and bathroom layout just strange. Difficult to use the sink tap as its fixed at a weird angle. Bathroom tiles still in pretty shape but nowhere to put toiletries (yes we left toiletries bag on the floor...) and the toilet paper was put on stand on the floor. Our room is on level one facing the small street, soundproofing is bad. Could hear the garbage truck siren early in the morning from our room. Book this hotel for the location and nothing else.

, Responsable relations clients at Best Western Hotel Folkestone Opera, responded to this review

18/03/2018

Small cozy hotel in a good location. Easy access to the metro. Walking distance to most designer stores. Albeit the small size of the room, this is pretty acceptable in Paris. Clean and neat. The staff were helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

"Cozy and Comfortable"

5
12/03/2018

I stayed one night only. I totally enjoyed my stay for that night only. The room was small, but it was cozy big time. I felt comfortable in it. The hotel is near the Opera and, if you're a keen walker, then all of central Paris and its main sights will be within easy reach. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was served in a stylish, chique ambience. This hotel is a typical French terraced building, and the business created a series of small rooms next and on top of each other. Do expect some noise from your neighbor, if you're a light sleeper. Also, the bathroom of the room I was in, did not have a working fan, meaning there was no ventilation to take the moisture away. Mould has started to build, and the hotel management had better look into this as soon as possible. My advice is to check all rooms at the same time.

"The most charming Paris hotel ever"

5
11/03/2018

I'm typing this review while sitting on the balcony of this amazing hotel. When I arrived to check in earlier this afternoon, they'd told me that they could only give me a normal room. Not bad, I thought as I entered, but I was really hoping for a terrace with a view of Paris. Decided to go back again this evening and the manager on duty was extremely kind and in 5 mins had upgraded me to a bigger room with a balcony!! Beautifully proportioned with a terrace overlooking the charming Parisian streets. Clean and modern furnishings. I'm supremely looking forward to the rest of my fantastic stay here!! 5 stars!!!!

"Generally good hotel but with some issues"

18/02/2018

I was booked here for two nights for a business trip; some way from the office but availability everywhere was limited due to Valentines. I had mixed experiences in this hotel. Good points: Quick, easy check-in and friendly reception staff Nicely decorated room with good modern bathroom with bath Kettle and tea in room Minibar in room BBC1 and BBC2 on TV Very quiet - slept well Very good buffet breakfast for an additional €15 Bad points: Room very small with window facing offices (quite close) Door wouldn't lock the first time I left the room (they sent someone up to fix it while we were out) Bath had no plug - first night they couldn't find one, second night they found one but it leaked No information on cost of mini-bar - asked at reception and told soft drinks were free but seemed unsure about everything else Didn't wash cups/glasses or replenish tea/milk when making up room so had to go and ask for more Safe not digital coded as normal but had to pay deposit/get key Toiletries not great (no facecloth or handcream) Overall it was OK for two nights but I would look for somewhere else next time

It's a very essential hotel pretty close to the Champs Elysees and the Opera theatre. At the price of € 15,00 you can have a breakfast buffet which was ok. Free wifi and free pc area access where people is allowed to print.

"Excellent Location"

29/10/2017

A short walk from Auber the RER station this hotel is in an excellent position for transport links and many sights are easily walkable. Smooth check in and into the small lift up to our room on the 5th floor. Disappointing view as we overlooked offices across an internal quadrangle. Room was small but adequate and it's always good to have a kettle. We took our own supplies for drinks though as only 2 tiny pots of milk left each day. There is a fridge in the room as well. The room was clean but the carpet had seen better days as there were large stains in places. When we return to Paris we would stay here again. There is a bar round the corner called Cricketer which is open late and a small shop next door that never seems to close and has everything we needed.

"Looking quite shabby"

3
07/10/2017

The hotel is well located but has seen its better days. The first room I was given had the door and windows wide open as it stank of cigarette smoke (even though it was a non-smoking room). The reception quickly changed to another room, and told me that they had no recourse for those in the previous room as they had no signs about fines for smoking in the rooms... The room was covered with a stained carpet, worn out furniture and a typical shower in bathtub set-up. For the prices they charge, I would have expected better.

"Used to be very good, cracks showing now"

3
19/09/2017

I have been staying in this property for over 10 years now. Always in one of the terrace rooms. Never once I had a reason to complain. This trip has left me disappointed. Small cracks are appearing in the service and general condition; I walked into a room that was not vacuumed well; hair and dust on the carpet; the ash tray on the terrace was full of cigarette butts; the do not disturb sign missing from the door. I complained about that very evening and the next morning; the next day the carpet was well vacuumed but the cigarette butts still there... the one tea bag I had consumed the day before was not replaced... I wanted to use the printer in the evening to print some documents - was told that the printer was not working. The gentleman at the reception was very kind to help me with printing from his printer after I emailed all I wanted. The one problem was that he did not plan paper and had to print on the reverse of the hotel stationery. In past I would walk into the room that was perfectly made with a small thank you note from the housekeeper. Felt like home. I hope it has nothing to do with the change of management about a year or so ago. The location is excellent; the property is in a good shape just small issues to be resolved.

"Comfortable, Cozy Stay in the 8th"

4
23/07/2017

My husband and I enjoyed a comfortable 4 night stay at Best Western Folkestone Opera in July 2017. This was my third vacation to Paris and I can't imagine staying anyplace else when I return. This was the best by far. Though the room itself was small, the terrace provided outdoor space that made our stay much more enjoyable. The hotel is cozy and quiet with helpful, yet not intrusive staff. It sort of felt like we had our own apartment in Paris due to the stylish and modern design of the room and accommodations. As others have said, the hotel has an excellent location to base your Paris excursions. We walked many places, whereas in my other trips to Paris I depended more on the Metro. This hotel would be excellent for a shopping and cultural trip to Paris as great shopping (Galleries Lafayette, Printemps, Rue St. Honore) and cultural sites (Palais Garnier, Place de Concorde, Tuileries Gardens, Lourve, and Musee de l'Orangerie) are near. The room was the perfect type of cozy for a couple, but I am not clear how well the hotel accommodates friends, families, or other situations when multiple beds are needed.

Best Location in Paris, 3 minutes walking distance to Opera Garnier and Gallery Lafayette and within walking distance to Louvre and Angelina and Place Vendome. Reasonably prices restaurants, deli, fromagerie, and daily supply stores on the same street. Amazing, friendly staff, who are very helpful. super breakfast. They will call a cab for you any time in an instance. Clean , lovely, happy hotel recommended for anyone wishing to stay in a super, location, well connected to Metros, Pharmacies, and everything one needs. superb!!!

"Great location, hard to beat"

4
26/05/2017

Me and my friend stayed here for 5 nights in the end of April. We stayed in a classic double with terrace. The room was lovely, but quite small. When we had our suitcases open at the same time there was barely any room to move. The terrace on the other hand was really, really big, and offered a lovely view of the Parisian rooftops on the side street. Only downside was that the flowers in the pots where dead… By the end of April it´s Spring, and I'm sure some nice flowers would have survived. Otherwise we were pleased with the room, it had Everything we needed, including facilities to make tea, and a minibar. The interior was really classy as well, homely, but not old. I loved the exposed beams in the ceiling. We didn't have breakfast, so I can't say anything about that. The staff at the reception was nice, and greeted you whenever you arrived/left the hotel. The only disappointed thing was that there was no recognition what so ever of the fact that we were celebrating my friends birthday, although I had pointed this out in the reservation (which was made directly with the hotel and no third part). Other hotels I have stayed at have recognized birthdays in some ways, some more then others, but to completely ignore it felt quite arrogant. The best thing about this hotel is the location. It's located in an upscale neighborhood, close to the embassies, the Palais Garnier (Opera), Place de la Concorde, Tuileries Garden and Louvre. It is a 30 minutes walk to Arc de Triomphe, and we also walked to the Eiffel Tower. There are many Metro stations close to the hotel, and the RoissyBus, which is a direct bus between Opera and CDG AirPort, stops at Palais Garnier, only 5 minutes walk from the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to others based on the location, which I think is hard to beat.

"Great location, friendly staff"

21/05/2017

I stayed at the Best Western for 2 nights on business and it was pretty nice. The room size was a little bit small but understandable as the location was great. Staff were friendly too. The only frustrating thing was I arrived quite late at night and there was literally no drinks or food left in the mini bar - not even bottled water! Luckily the man at the reception kindly pointed me to a shop just down the road and I was able to get something. Would stay there again :)

"Great location, comfortable"

10/05/2017

Great location in a quiet street 5 mins walk from Madeleine metro, small supermarket almost next door and many restaurants. Had a standard room, which was quite small but not as cramped as feared. Wonderful bed. Very good bathroom with walk in shower. Plentiful storage and surface space. With Paris on your doorstep you won't want to spend a lot of time in room but for the British who can't survive without, tv has BBC1 and 2. Pleasant basement breakfast room, limited hot selection but excellent cold cuts, breads, croissants, juices etc. Only very minor negative was a very confused receptionist on check in.

"Decent Location, Small room, Unexpected Visitor"

3
25/04/2017

We recently stayed at the Best Western Hotel Folkestone Opera in Paris. The room size was small, but that is somewhat to be expected in European hotel rooms anyway. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was a good enough size. The location was pretty central though not super close to the Eiffel Tower or the main tourist area, but definitely walkable if you are up for a 40ish minute walk (I'd say about 2 miles). We did it at least twice and it was not too bad. The worst part was on the last night there, my husband got up to use the bathroom and it woke me up when he did that. So I was wide awake when someone used their key card to unlock our room (at about 2 am). We had our door bolted shut with the extra safety lock and apparently that does no good. Lucky for us, I think they just had the wrong room, but I am not sure how their key card was able to open our room door. It was enough to make me not feel safe for the rest of the night. Other than that, the hotel staff was excellent with directions and helping us get to the train station for our departure. Not sure I would recommend the hotel based solely on our unexpected visitor, but putting that aside, everything else was good enough.

"Good location, pleasant stay"

4
24/04/2017

Very good location on quiet street a block from the metro in an area with lots of restaurant choices and shopping nearby. Rooms were clean and renovated.Very good for Paris and reasonable value. I had a room on the 6th floor with a lovely balcony. Breakfast is well appointed. Staff was very pleasant but I would add one note of constructive criticism and that would be that the staff should have a better knowledge of the area. When I asked for suggestions for a local a restaurant it was as if no one had ever asked the question before, "sandwich shop next door, the restaurant on the corner or next door" Is there a money exchange nearby, "don't know." Easy to fix. Overall I would go back and would recommend the hotel.

31/03/2017

Rooms and beds are newly renovated and great, staff very friendly, breakfast and coffee (except for cappuccino) are fine with freshly baked croissants. The location of the hotel is perfect right in the middle of shopping, restaurants and tourist areas which allows for walking. RER and Metro are close enough for reaching (in our case) the Exhibition Center. We'll be back!

"Great location, comfy beds!"

28/03/2017

Visited Paris for 3 night with my Mum. We had a twin room on the 5th floor. Comfy beds and decent shower room with bath too. The room backed out onto a market place, so it was very noisy on Saturday morning! The staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel was in a great location - we walked everywhere! About 35/40 mins to Eiffel Tower etc.

"Everything you need"

5
26/03/2017

Great location, very courteous staff, great rooms with very comfy beds and a very good value breakfast option if you need it. If you frequent Paris you'll know that breakfast is mostly a croissant, coffee, orange juice thing for about €9 so we opted for the hotel breakfast at €15 and it was well worth it! Very happy with our whole stay, would recommend

"nice renovation, nice location"

4
05/02/2017

Hotel was very nicely renovated, although the rooms are somewhat small. No problem with the hotel but the breakfast was expensive at Euro 15 per person for what it is when the room was costing only a bit more than 100 for the night. Some nice food specialty shops on the street and conveniently located. Hotel staff at the front desk were very helpful - other than a French woman who was simply not welcoming (all others at the desk were not French!). On the last day of our stay I requested a 1:30 late check out and was told fine by the person at the desk that morning. My wife returned to the hotel at 12:45 to pack and checkout, and the French woman was at the desk and insisted rather aggressively that she had to be checked out by 1pm, or we would be charged a late fee. It was a very unnecessary and very poor attitude to a guest during the last 30 minutes of the stay.

"A well situated and inexpensive hotel"

5
25/01/2017

We recently spent four nights at this hotel. It was wonderful. The hotel is very well situated, being close to the Paris Opera and the shopping district. It is in easy walking distance of the Metro and the airport bus. It is surrounded by a full spectrum of restaurants and coffee shops, although many are closed on a Sunday evening. We found the hotel to be very comfortable. Our room was compact, as are most hotel rooms in Paris. It was however perfectly manageable. The room was quiet and well appointed with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean and modern and had the usual array of toiletries on offer. We thought that the hotel was very well priced although breakfast was not included. Breakfast was well worth the extra payment of 15 Euros per person. The food on offer was plentiful and varied with something for everyone. The staff were very cheerful and helpful and they contributed to a really enjoyable stay. This hotel is really good value for money and we would certainly recommend it.

"Great Small Hotel in Paris"

4
27/11/2016

This is a small hotel - but adequate for a quick weekend or week in Paris. It has a good location and is cozy. The rooms are not large - nor were they expected to be. It is clean and that is what matters. The staff is friendly and helpful. They do their best to try an d accommodate you. There is breakfast served in the basement (Ground Floor minus one - as it is referenced). Very nice place. Metro is in close walking distance. We would stay there again. The elevator is very small. Did not like that feeling. Overall, very good experience!

"Very cosy and clean! Highly recommend this hotel"

20/11/2016

My husband and I travelled to Paris for his birthday. We arrived at 23:00 on a Friday evening and the night receptionist was very helpful and friendly. The rooms are small but very cosy and clean. It almost feels like you are in a cottage somewhere in the countryside. This hotel is very centrally located, close to the Madeleine metro station and very close to the big Gallery Lafeyette and big European chains. I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody wanting to stay centrally in Paris.

This is a nice small hotel with clean, modern rooms. The staff can converse in English well and were very helpful and pleasant. It is on a small street, noise was never noticeable, which was important to us, coming from a quiet small town. The elevator is quite small and the stairway is winding and narrow, it was no problem for us, but this may be a problem for people with large luggage. All in all, I consider it to be a charming, yet modern small hotel.

Easy access to everywhere, Quiet surroundings with nice eateries nearby. Very cosy and clean hotel. Staff are very attentive and friendly and are always ready with answers. Would highly recommend this hotel to travelers who wants a comfortable stay and easy accessibility to metro, shopping, eateries, etc.

"Good choice! Supercute hotel in the heart of Paris"

Staff is superhelpful and superkind with always a smile on their face, extraordinary :) Room is cute and supernice. Bed is comfy, room is clean, air conditioning is perfect, and although the room is tiny, it feels huge because of the nice mirrors. And the room which we stayed in had even a nice balcony on the 6th floor :) The street of the hotel is quiet but very well situated in the city centre. Breakfast is pretty good and you dont need to get up early to eat because you can have breakfast even at around 11am. Everything was excellent, we were very satisfied with the service.

Great central location without feeling too touristy or too loud. It's a small hotel and the staff if very personal and friendly. The breakfast was pricey but ok. Once was enough for the breakfast. Easy to grab metro from here.

Nothing to write home about but it's very clean, has good location, rooms look nice, Air conditioning, WiFi in every room. Staff speak English, Small but cozy rooms. Very good sound isolation from the street, not so good isolation from a room next door. Grocery next door. Do not try the bakery up the street - it's horrible.

"Security concerns and did not honor reservation"

25/07/2016

Weekend of July 22nd - 24th 2016 was our 5th wedding anniversary. We booked a high floor room with a terrace. The reason we wanted this is because we enjoy bright rooms and outdoor space while on holiday. When I first checked in, I was told my room was not available, to come back after 2 pm. I had no issues with coming back but I had to leave my bag for safe keeping. My bag was left in the lobby lounge area, non secured. When I returned to check in, there was two major problems, first I saw my bag out in the open with other bags. A big security issue from my perspective. The second big issue was the room I booked was given away to a prior guest who decided to extend their stay. I was not told this until my payment was collected. I expressed my disappointment because we were really looking forward to a nice high floor room with a terrace. They said they would upgrade our room but the "superior" room they decided to put us in was on the 1st floor, in the back of the building, facing a back alley overlooking garbage dumpsters from the restaurant next door. There was zero sunlight. The room was small, dark and a smoking room. Since we are both non smokers, our eyes had allergic reactions from the imbedded smoke smells in the carpet and furniture. I asked for a high floor non smoking room and was told non was available and no change in room was possible. We were also awoken in the am around 6.30 am by garbage trucks making metal to metal banging sounds for 15 minutes. What was suppose to be a special weekend in Paris was runined by several inconsiderate decisions to favor another guest despite having a confirmed reservation. While onsite, I asked no less than 4 times to speak to the manager and the day reception person kept saying she would reach out to the manager. No manager even bothered to reach out to us. Finally on the last ask to speak to the manager, the receptionist said, there is nothing else can be done and the manager decides what he wants to do and since he did not call back, that we needed to accept that.We were told the manager was Mr. Amoua. The day reception person and management did not care about registering our complaints. in the end, we receive free breakfast and the worst example of an upgraded room. What they have not grasped was how disappointed we were after months of planning a romantic weekend. Instead the receptionist raise tensions because of her indifference and poor understanding of customer service.

Best: the best thing in the hotel is its location. It is very close to metro lines and also it is just a few hundred meters from the Roissy Bus station that comes directly from the airport. Good: the staff is nice, wifi is free, the room is small but cosy, the breakfast room has a nice atmosphere and the breakfast itself is good. Not good: I got a smoking room without asking if I wanted to, there was some sewage smell in the room in the morning, the interior is a mix of stylish and outworn, I had some problem with setting the AC, price is high but it is the same in Paris.

The hotel is not big, but what makes it special is the reception staff, they really care about the needs of the guest. The room is very clean and feels homie, each room has window so you can open it for some fresh air. The bathroom size not to big, but the shower has a good pressure. Great location, just in the middle between two shopping districts in Paris, rue du fauburg and printempts. Good selection of breakfast, but need hot breakfast selection. Next to the hotel has lots of restaurant and convinient store. Very recommended, friendly reception, thoughtfull hotel manager. Will surely come back to stay there!

This is as nice a 3 star property as one will ever find. I can't imagine why it isn't, at least, a PLUS in the Best Western ratings. We had the large deluxe with terrace and it was spacious with a huge terrace. The bath was a bit small but well laid out. Housekeeping is an A+ as is the friendly service at front desk and breakfast room. The breakfast is quite large with excellent coffee and fresh bake croissants to go with various meats and cheeses, and many other items (all lovingly cared for by a very sweet young lady). We loved the place, and all are right about the wonderful location.

Room was not big, but ok. Bathroom is small. Overall we loved the hotel location and large balcony where you can enjoy yyour champage, what you can buy from store 5meters from the hotel :)

"Nice location, Very limited Service"

10/05/2016

The location is wonderful here close to a subway station and within walking distance to Galleries Lafayette and the major European chains. We had some problems with our rooms. We booked two rooms for our family of four, and told we would be on separate floors. We asked to be on the same floor, and we were reassigned a room on the 7th floor. The 7th floor rooms have low ceilings and the rooms are tiny compared to a standard room on the 5th floor. The electricity was not working in our room with the room keys given. When we inquired at the front desk about having someone take a look at the problem, we were told it would be an hour before someone could check, but we could move to another room if we wanted. We needed showers before dinner so we opted to go to a room on the 5th floor which ended up being much more space for us. There was no other staff on duty besides the receptionist all day so we did not have any help moving our luggage from room to room. It worked out because the 5th floor room was larger than the 7th floor room. So we are back to being on different floors. Ha! We asked Valeria to make a dinner reservation for us, and she called but the restaurant was closed at the moment. Dead silence. There was no offer to try again later and let us know like we experience in so many other hotels. I have stayed in hotels all across Europe, and we just came from a very friendly Marriott on this holiday so I felt getting information about parking and restaurants was like pulling teeth out of her. Her idea of a nice French restaurant suggestion to us was Hippopotamus (a chain). I did not come to Paris to eat in a chain restaurant. I can only conclude that it was the stereotypical French reservedness and lack of hospitality training. If this was my hotel, she would be working in the back office, not he front desk. Another problem came at check out. I paid extra 10 euros a night per room to have two twin beds per room through Booking.com. Because we moved rooms, and only two rooms with double beds were available, Valeria told it was "impossible" to modify the rate. I felt like cold water was thrown in my face when she said "but you moved 3 times". We only moved from the 7th floor to the 5th floor, but in her reasoning asking to be put together on the same floor counted as a move. I also did not think the electrical issue was our fault, and we were offered to move. We did not ask to be moved. The location is great, and the rooms are updated and modern. Still, there is no way I would ever return here or recommend this based solely on my interactions with Valeria. There are lots of other options in the neighborhood, and you should check them out.

"Great location, not so great noise"

05/05/2016

Great central location on a quiet street, however the noise from the hallway and other rooms was ridiculous. Not only was it from other guests moving about, but from the cleaning staff vacuuming, opening and closing cupboards etc. I wore earplugs but even then could still hear noise at times. The rooms are lovely and clean and even though we ventured out quite late in the day, our room had been made up at some point in the afternoon which was unexpected but greatly appreciated. We didn't book breakfast so unfortunately can't comment on that service.

"Very good location, room fine"

07/04/2016

I have tried several hotels in central areas of Paris and, whenever I find good rates for this one (the full rate is just too much), it is my favourite choice. The room size is good for the price level / location, the bathroom is fine and the furniture and decoration is better than average. The breakfast room is also very nice, but the breakfast quality and choice of food is less than average. WiFi connection is normally ok (except the breakfast room with no connection at all), but in my room this time (203) the connection was very poor and unstable.

"Great hotel gem amongst many sub-par ones"

29/03/2016

We had to move hotels in Paris and booked this last minute. It was really lovely-a real hotel. Our room was at the top of the hotel with a view of the rooftops of the 11th - very light and airy. Very comfortable bed, plus a mini-bar and a small but clean and adequate bathroom. The service was great with us leaving our bags there early (an hour after we had booked the room and hours before we could check in) and when we returned later, they had been put in our room. The staff were very helpful, giving us suggestions for where to eat. I'd recommend it any day. Paris had a lot of sub-par hotel, but this one is great and good value for money as well.

"Romantic weekend ??"

15/03/2016

From the moment we arrived at this hotel we knew we were going to have a lovely weekend. We stayed in the larger room with a balcony and found it to be comfortable and spotlessly clean. The location is perfect for sightseeing as it is within walkable distance from the Seine and all the fabulous sights of Paris. The staff at the hotel were so helpful and our only regret is we couldn't stay longer! We will be back!

This is a charming hotel in a very good location (right next to madelaine and hussman blvd). We have hosted in this hotel several times and I think it's a really good option for visiting paris: not expensive (compared to standards in paris) and friendly staff. If you got the chance to get an upgrade in your room, it is really worth it. Maybe regular rooms are small but deluxe rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast buffet is a great option - there's quite variety and at a very good price (13 euros)! - it let's you start the long walking day with plenty of energy :)

"Central and comfy stay, only complain is the room noise from next door"

4
24/02/2016

Stayed 1 night here and it was pleasant and comfy. Big room Deluxe with a small sofa and a large closet. It was on 4th floor looking over Rue de Castellane. Bathroom is rather small and had only a walk-in shower. Flat TV, free wifi, minibar, hairdryer, all you need. Easy access to shops, métro Madeleine or Havre-Caumartin, bars and restaurants as well as tourist spots. Taxi easy to use and plenty of them in Rue Tronchet or Place de la Madeleine. Only complain is the sound from next door made from the neighbour. Room is not so soundproof between next one. Had to complain to the front desk. In the early morning, you could ear the trash truck next to the hotel. Not a very nice wake up call... Breakfast is a good option but at 13 Euros, it's a little on the upper range price. All in all, I might come back next time.

"Excellent hotel in a great location"

17/02/2016

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while visiting Paris. The location was an easy 10 minute walk with rolling luggage from the drop off point for the Roissy Bus from CDG airport. My brother and I arrived before noon and were very happy to find our room was ready. The clerk was nice and offered us an optional breakfast package for an additional 13 euros per person, which we declined since we aren't big breakfast eaters. The elevator was a nice touch and was the perfect size to fit 2 adults with one rolling carry on size bag each. I found our twin bed room to be clean, cozy, and comfortable. The bathroom was very modern and the shower stall had American style glass doors that closed fully with complimentary soap, shampoo, and shower gel provided. The wifi also worked perfectly. My brother and I walked from the hotel to Jardin des Tuileries and the Louvre in about 20 minutes. From there, we walked to Champs Elysees and the Arc de Triomphe and onwards to the Eiffel Tower. The walk from the Eiffel Tower back to the hotel took about 35 minutes for us. We also found it very easy to go to Versailles from the hotel location. You go to the metro at Madelaine ( 5 mins from hotel) and take the metro to Invalides metro station and from Invalides station, change to RER C train towards Versailles Rive Gauche. The major Parisian department stores are 5 minutes walk from the hotel and there are lots of great shops along Rue Tronchet to explore as well. Although we had to check out at noon on our last day, we had a very late flight from Charles De Gaulle. Valeria at the front desk was very kind and allowed us to leave our bags at the hotel in their baggage room. This gave us an additional 9 hours to visit a few museums before taking the Roissy bus to CDG airport. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return when visiting Paris again.

"A little gem in the heart of Madeline!"

18/01/2016

This was our 2nd time staying at Folkestone Opera for 5 nights and it is fast becoming 1 of our favorite hotels in Paris! We had arrived early in Paris and the hotel allowed us to check-in to our room (503) earlier. In addition, the hotel kindly put us in a bigger double room, even though I had booked a standard double. We had a special requirement as my wife was pumping expressed human milk and we needed access to a freezer (which we had communicated earlier during reservation) for storage and the reception staff had made arrangements to make available the hotel's kitchen freezer for our use. Location of the hotel is fantastic, right in the heart of central Paris, and just steps away from the Madeline metro station with many restaurants, bistros and sundry shops in the vicinity. Room & bathroom was clean and modern, with a good hot shower and comfortable bedding. Strong wifi throughout the hotel and there is a PC & small bar located at the hotel lobby. Breakfast is now chargeable (13 euros per pax) when it used to be included in the rate during our 1st stay there. However, with 2 wonderful bakeries in the area, there are other breakfast options should you choose to skip the hotel breakfast. Overall, cant find a negative thing to say about our stay and we are grateful to the hotel for accommodating our requests. Special mention & thanks to reception staff Valeria, Myriam and Dippy for always being so helpful. We will definitely return to stay again.

During the midst of a long trip to Europe, my plans changed and I needed a hotel for a few nights in Paris. I had a lot of BW points, but not a lot of time to research my options among the many BW hotels in Paris. I feel incredibly lucky that I found the BW Hotel Folkestone Opera. I ended up with one of the tiniest rooms on the top floor, but it felt like a little jewel box! Such creative use of space! I'm told that my room is the only one with a partial view of the Eiffel Tower (701 or 702). It would be tight for more than one person, but worked perfectly for me. Having just left a sweltering Prague, the strong A/C was particularly welcome. Loved the breakfast and its setting. And as others have said, the location is just incredible!

AMGerbault, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Hotel Folkestone Opera, responded to this review
Thank you so much for your kind comment ! We are so happy when our customers live paris with good memories. My wife and I booked this hotel for a surprise birthday trip to Paris for her parents. They have asked us to leave a review on their behalf and we also feel the hotel staff deserve a special mention with all their assistance in making their stay so memorable and also helping us to surprise them further by turning up in Paris with gifts and champagne. The staff could not have been any nicer and nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel itself is in a great location, on a quiet street, one block behind La Madeleine and is a great option for shopping, Christmas markets etc. The room we booked was on the 6th floor and while typically quite small, it was clean, cosy and well appointed with a really homely feel, the major bonus with this room (605) is the big roof terrace with ample room for a table and chairs and if it wasn't December I'm sure it would have been better used!. Overall this is a lovely hotel to suit most people's budget and although we, personally did not stay, we would have no hesitation in staying here on one of our future Paris trips. My wife's mum and dad had such a good time here and would also definitely return. Great location, great hotel and lovely staff. Thank you Folkestone.

We stayed 5 nights in Paris on a very special trip abroad and were delighted to spend them at this lovely establishment. Our little room had double doors to the balcony and we spent our rare free time enjoying the view of the street. The room was beautifully appointed and pointlessly clean, with a large, comfortable bed, and the reception and house staff were unfailingly polite, friendly and helpful. The daily free breakfast was lovely, and they were happy for us to make some ham and cheese baguettes and take some fruit from the buffet with us on our daily trips. We came to think of our room as our little home away from home, and have said we will return to Folkestone when we are once again in Paris. Merci beaucoup! :)

This hotel is located in a small street in central Paris, close to most attractions and shopping places. The staff are very friendly and helpful with fluent English. The room is small as expected in a city like Paris but very clean. The bath room is very good especially. I only think that the breakfast should be improved a little bit with more hot foods for a price of EUR13. Not many people staying eat there for a reason. There are some good cafes and Asian restaurants next to the hotel with better food and less price.

Great hotel, reasonably priced close to Opera. Only 10min walking to "Roissybus" stop which will get you non-stop from/to CDG airport (aprox. 45min with minor traffic) and to RER A station "Auber" for trains to Disneyland (aprox. 45min). Both cleaning service and breakfast were very good. The WiFi worked alsmost flawless. The personal were really kind and managed to meet our request regarding rooms booking. I would definately choose the same hotel during my next visit to Paris.

Goodmoring from Paris! Your comment is really fair and I grant you , the "Roissy bus" is a very good option to get to the airport. As for the RER A it actually allows you to go to Disneyland without any change. We are delighted that you enjoyed our Hotel and hope to see you soon! Best Regards Anne

Great location. Close to Metro, restaurants and shops. Patisserie across the road and a mini supermarket next door. Reception staff went above and beyond my expectations particularly Cyrielle. Cleaning staff and breakfast girls were also polite and helpful. Double Deluxe room spacious particularly for Paris standards. Couldn't fault our stay. We loved it!

This is a small but excellent hotel. The staff, Myriam, Cyrielle, Damien and Lamine were so helpful. Their service is beyond great, as they made our week long stay extremely enjoyable. The cleaning staff and the wait staff (for the restaurant) were also excellent. Their efforts were also appreciated by us during our stay. The location is outstanding. Several convenient restaurants and shopping within short distance. Convenient access to the Metro Subway system.

My husband and I loved our stay here. The front desk staff was very helpful with directions and suggestions on how to get around and what to see. There is a great cafe across the street called La Castellane where you can grab breakfast before you head out on your day. There is a little store right next to hotel where you can grab wine, fruit, snacks and any little items you may have forgotten. The hairdryer in the hotel looked to have a converter on it so you could plug in Canadian hair appliances but I did not try it out as I did not expect this. Marriage Freres, Fauchon, Maille, Galleries Lafayette and many more great shops are just a quick walk away. For a great view of the city go to the top of the Galleries Lafayette ~ you will not be disappointed!! Thank-you Best Western Hotel Folkestone Opera, we loved our stay!!

I booked the hotel throw their website and paid for it in advance, stayed in this hotel for 7 days, really nice and clean.Location was good and close to train station, but not the most touristic area. They said what time we can have breakfast in the morning when we checked in and they DIDNOT mention that breakfast is not included, so when we wanted to check out,we had to pay around 200 usd for breakfast for two.It was not cheap but breakfast was okay.but I still felt tricked because they must have said when we checked in,as we believed it is included.

AMGerbault, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Hotel Folkestone Opera, responded to this review
Dear Madame, thank you for your comment. We have to apology concerning the charge of breakfast you did'nt know ; It's writing on our web site but you are right of course, we have to say it again when customer checkin ; We hope to have the chance to welcome you again to offer you a better experience, don't hesitate to contact me directly if you need to solve this situation with more details, sincerely Anne-Marie

We really enjoyed our stay to the BW Folkestone Opera! We traveled to Paris on August 15th to the 23rd, 2015. The location of the hotel was excellent. We were able to take the Roissy Bus (11 euro) from Charles De Gaulle airport to the Opera and then walk (albeit slowly) with our bags to the hotel. (I wouldn't recommend for those with a lot of baggage) but it did work for us. The hotel is located in the Opera district (I know, duh!) but since I never visited Paris, I didn't know that meant that we were within walking distance to places like The Louvre, Printemps Department Store, Fauchon, the famous shops on Rue de Honore! There were also two metro stations nearby to assist in traveling throughout the city. Our room was comfortable. Understanding most rooms are small in Paris, we were happy to be able to move around fairly easily. The room and the bathroom were both updated and stylish. Our windows looked out to the street and we could open them to smell the flowers planted in the planter outside our window. There were a few outlets to power our electronics which was also a plus. The service at the hotel was excellent. From our front desk experience to the cleaning service, the staff was extremely helpful. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel!

We booked this hotel on a special offer, on very short notice. The hotel has a very good, central location. We had the Deluxe room, which has a nice nice (and is a bit more expensive). The hotel was quiet, the rooms are clean (except for some stains on the sofa). The breakfast is ok, but not really worth the money (as in 90% of all hotels). This is the very first Best Western hotel in the last 20 years that's ok. We will probably return.

It is a nice hotel on a dirty street. Well located off the main drag. But it does NOT come with a free breakfast. Had an additional charge on my bill that was unanticipated. Certainly not a fair price for the relatively pathetic spread provided in the dungeon basement

AMGerbault, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Hotel Folkestone Opera, responded to this review
Dear Sir, I'm so sade to read your comment !!! Could you please contact me directly to the hotel to understand what happened concerning the additional charge on your bill ??? Have you got picture of the Castellane's street ? If I ask it's because it's really not a dirty street so I would like to understand what happened to be sure it's never happened again. Please contact me, you can do it through the email hotel adress, Sincerely Anne-Marie Gerbault

An excellent hotel right in the heart of Paris and very reasonably priced. For a hotel in this location the rooms were a decent size and very comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very handy for the Metro. Would definitely return and use this as a base to explore Paris from.

Small, high price hotel in a good location to the site seeing spots. Nonetheless the street makes a dirty impression with lots of rubbish on it. The room was quite dark since directed to the yard. Rooms to the street are much brighter.

Good Afternoon from Paris, thank you Sir to taking time to wrote a comment about Folkestone Hotel. Clean rooms, perfect location and friendly staff - This is your ultimate place to stay if you are in Paris for few days and want to walk (5-7 minutes) to the Seine river OR to nearby designer boutiques. Price: The price is really good if compared to other European destinations. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel - especially to that crowd who prefers to walk around the city and still want to stay at a safe - friendly location. Location: Perfect location - you couldn't ask for more! It is between 2 different metro stops; situated just in the middle of the shopping neighbourhood and less than 3 minutes walking distance to the Famous Galeries Lafayette Haussmann. Lastly - there is a small tiny supermarket shop next to hotel which is open from 8am until midnight so you can buy your basic items from there (water / wine etc) Rooms: The rooms on the 6th floor are a bit small. The room is good for a couple or for someone travelling alone. It may not be convenient for tall people as the height of the beds are a bit small - But you can always ask the hotel in advance and having a friendly staff, I am sure they can help you. Each room have its own air-conditioner which you can control according to your needs. The rooms are super clean and the windows / walls are sound-proofed. Staff: They are very friendly and can guide you with most of your questions - I arrived the hotel 30 minutes early than the normal check-in time and they allowed me to check-in. They also give you a free city map at the time of check-in which is extensive and covers the whole city.

AMGerbault, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Hotel Folkestone Opera, responded to this review
Good Afternoon from Paris ! We hope you had a nice trip back home. Concerning our room size, you have to know that we have different type of room. We do have room for tall people...:) Our room size is between 12m2 and 25m2, so you have choice !!! We are so glad you enjoyed your time in Folkestone and we hope to welcome you again, may be in an other season, sincerely Anne-Marie

The hotel was nice and quaint. It is very centrally located - in close proximity to the Madeleine station, which gives easy access to all of the major sites. You can easily walk to the Louvre, the River Seine, or the shops on Rue St. Honore. It is only a small hike to the Champs Elysees. In this location, I walked most of the time to my destinations. There was no need for a cab. The rooms are very clean and up-to-date. The air conditioning was amazing. An added plus was the automatic shade that you can bring down at night so that your sleep is not interrupted by the sun at 8AM. :-)

Friendly and helpful staff, clean, light rooms and brilliant location make this a really excellent place to stay! I booked in for 3 nights and then booked in for another night on my way home later after I went away for a short time, because it was so good! The Madelleine Church is just near by as is the bus and train stops.

I recently booked a last minute trip to Paris and found this hotel after extensive research. I was not disappointed! The room was comfortable for European standards. Our room was always left clean and smelling fresh, and the workers were extremely kind. The location is perfect. Not too far from the Metro and bus lines. Most attractions are walking distance...but make sure to have comfortable walking shoes. As far as the front desk, the staff was superb. They were always friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Did everything with a smile. ...And one last thing...for a good meal, visit Pompei Restaurant down the street and the bakery right across from it. Delicious food!! p.s. The chocolate beignets at Pauls around the corner are to die for! Happy Travels! :)

Excellent location for access to all parts of the city either by foot or public transportation. We had a "deluxe" size room and it was a good sized room with plenty of space. The room decor and facilities were very good with very good quality accoutrements. However, the room's carpeting needed to be cleaned and the hotel was informed. Excellent value with breakfast included. Have stayed here twice and would do so again.

The hotel was very clean and beautifully decorated. The room was cozy but with enough space for my husband and me to move around and leave our suitcase open, and have plenty of closet and storage area. The breakfast was very good to help us start the day. The location was great, close to all the main attractions. It is also very close to the metro and the bus that takes you to the airport. We took the hop on-hop off bus open bus, which is great to see the city. The start of this bus was also very close to the hotel, which came in handy since we were in Paris for a short time.

Hello Phoenix! This description is real pleasure for us to read, Thank you very much! "Rude Receptionist, misleading website"

3
01/01/2015

We made a mistake by booking a room for 2 adults when we had along with us a 3 year old who sleeps with us on the bed. The website only gave the option of 2 or 3 adults so we picked 2. When we got to the hotel, the receptionist (Laetitia) told us very rudely that the three of us cannot stay in the room together. Further she told us that "we should check carefully what we book". She said that all the rooms in the hotel are for only two people and that our 3 year old boy is "not a baby, he is an adult". When I tried to tell her that I made an honest mistake and want her to help, she was again very rude and said that the only thing she could do was to book an extra room for me to stay at Euro 255 more, or I could cancel the booking and lose 50% of the charges. She said that there are no rooms at their sister hotel and she cannot see any other rooms since it was very close to the new year. After some discussions, we decided to keep the room in Best Western and that I would find another room in another hotel. When we told the receptionist, she made a very rude expression and told me that I cannot stay in the hotel beyond 6 pm or 7 pm. I managed to find a room in a hotel and stayed away from my family for two nights. When I came to the hotel in the morning (since my wife had a meeting at 8:30 AM), I was let inside by another receptionist. I explained that my wife and son were staying in the hotel and I was going to see them. He let me in and also let me use the computer in the lobby. A little while later I saw Laetitia come into the hotel and exchange shifts with the receptionist. He immediately told her in French "No, he did not sleep in the hotel". I understood this since I understand some French. I felt really bad and it was clear that Laetitia was looking at us as though we were criminals. On a good note, the receptionist when we were leaving (Myriam) was wonderfully nice and warm. She helpd us with our luggage and also spoke to us pleasantly and played with our son. The good points of the hotel: - Great location, very nice entrance and reception - Reasonable price - High level of cleanliness everywhere Bad points: - Small rooms and narrow stairways - Mediocore breakfast - Misleading website

AMGerbault, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Hotel Folkestone Opera, responded to this review
Dear Sir, as you know I already answered you by mail, I'll not do it again here. I do understand your bad feeling with us and I'm sorry for that. I can only say again we can't accept child or baby or adult with two other persons in one room. We are not allowed to. We don't have any triple or family room. Concerning Laetitia, I do apologies that she didn't manage to explain you the situation carrefuly and friendly. Sincerely Anne-Marie

Very nice hotel on the excellent location with good breakfast, for people who do not need lot of space in the room because the rooms are as per French standard - nice clean and tiny - cozy beautiful big window with nice flowers, staff is knowledgeable and helpful always with smile.
