I talked with the hotel staff about booking a room 4 months prior to the reservation date at a discount rate. 10 days later, when the payment was made (still 3,5months before the reservation date), the hotel staff asked me to pay extra for the room when there were still several other rooms available. This is straight extortion and deserves condemnation. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

    « lovely convenient hotel »

Nice personal size hotel, very close Metro and great walks. Nice room, great bathroom, we had a view over the front facing a park that becomes a fantastic marketplace twice a week. The wifi did not work in our room, but it did in the lobby. Very personable manager, helpful in every way. skip the breakfast and have your petit dejeuner at the corner cafe..the elevator is good. We ordered a shuttle to the airport and it was worth it as dragging bags up and down the Metro stairs is a chore (unless your younger)..

    « Nice stay »

I stayed two nights at this hotel and was very satisfied with the experience. I would recommend this hotel to people who do not need to be near the main tourist attractions, as it is about 30 minutes away by Metro to the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower. I have been to Paris on several occasions and I chose to explore a more local scene, so this location was great for me. If you have been to Paris before and don't mind being a little away from the main tourist attractions, the 11th arrondissement is closer to the Bastille and Republique areas. First time visitors to Paris may be better situated closer to the action, which is in the 1, 2, or 5th arrondissements. The room was very clean and the staff very pleasant. I requested a room facing the boulevard and my request was granted. The windows were well insulated and there was not outside noise when the windows were closed. The room was the usual Paris petite but as a solo traveler it was perfectly suitable for my needs. There was plenty of room for a dresser, two chairs, and a wardrobe. There was also room for a luggage rack. The bed was fairly comfortable (although it was two twin beds pushed together and I felt like I was slightly sinking in between the two beds in the middle of the night). I liked the rustic tiled floor and the nice big french windows. I did not like the handheld shower. The shower head would not stay up and it is very awkward to shower holding the shower hose the entire time. Other reviewers mentioned that the hotel does not provide toiletries, so I brought my own shampoo and conditioner. They only provide a liquid soap that it's supposed to serve as body soap and hair shampoo. I chose to bring my own. There is a tea kettle in the room and they provide a couple of tea packs. I wish they had provided a complimentary bottle of water on arrival because the weather was very warm. I did not eat breakfast at the hotel because there are many places to eat nearby, but the hotel breakfast prices were comparable to the nearby restaurants if you want to eat breakfast inhouse. The area is very lively with cafes, bars, restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. There is easy access to a couple of nearby Metro stations. I had a very comfortable stay at this Best Western. I would not hesitate to return next time.

« good hotel on an excellent location »

Good location, good bed ( a bit squeaky if you do some sport in it...but perfect to sleep in ), excellent service from the personell. free Wifi, free airco, The room is a bit small. I don't know how breakfast is because we didn't have breakfast there. If i give a rate on schale from 1 to 10 then it is a 7. The elevator is small so if you have problems with small spaces ask for a room in lower floor.

    « Fabulous find »

Had a great stay at this hotel for 3 nights. As I had heard hotels in Paris were quite small I was prepared to feel cramped when I checked in, but I was met with a happy surprise. The room is of a very decent size, enough for two people and you can walk around a bit. Size of the bathroom is good, air con and wifi was fantastic and there was very little noise (if any) in the evenings. Breakfast is worth the money and is delicious. Service was fantastic, the room price was great value for money and the hotel is a 2 minute walk from Oberkampf (metro) where you can stay on the same line to most of the main attractions in Paris.

« Comfortable hotel well situated. »

Comfortable friendly hotel between Republique and Bastille. Easy Metro connection to Eurostar. Many good places near by to eat. Good sized room and bathroom. We would have liked a fridge in the room. The Wifi was slow.

    « Fantastic, pleasant surprise »

Stayed Best Western Saint Martin Bastille for 3 days in early July in Rm 10. Overall I liked everything about this hotel from welcoming and helpful staff to delicious breakfast that kept me going till afternoon. The room was a pleasant surprise as I heard rooms are very small in Paris. It was average size room with comfy bed, great air conditioning and bathroom had a bath as well as shower. It was close to train lines (like 3 minutes and 5 minutes walk). Lots of cafes, bakeries etc around too. There is also a market across the road from Hotel on Friday. Would definitely go back and highly recommend hotel. On another note...I also highly recommend getting a hop on hop off bus pass to see Paris.

    « Overall, good quality »

The best thing about this hotel is the staff. The man I believe to be the owner, Mike, was extremely helpful. He locked up our bags for us since we arrived around 9 a.m. and check-in is not until 3 p.m., he arranged a shuttle to the airport which was very reasonable priced, and he spoke perfect English. Hotel specifics: We requested and paid for the larger room and I am glad we did. I think that our room was a decent size for Paris - it had a desk with chair, a luggage rack, a large closet with shelves and two nightstand tables. There were not any toiletries in the room (one container which was a catchall and looked like hand soap or shampoo). This wasn't an issue for me, but my boyfriend uses the what the hotel provides, so take note and come prepared. We were on the top floor and if you can get it, I would request it. There is a skylight, so the other floors do not have this and as a result, are quite dark. The elevator can only fit one person with luggage, but at least there is an elevator. My boyfriend LOVED the breakfast (croissants, eggs, meats and cheese, juices, coffee). Another noteworthy item is this place is only a block or two to the Oberkampf metro station... SUPER convenient. As another reviewer said, great budget hotel. It's no Hilton, it's a budget hotel, but you also are not paying Hilton prices, so it is great for what you get.

    « Week in Paris »

Absolutely wonderful staff. Excellent location (skirting the Le Marais area and 100 metres from the Oberkampf metro). Good value. If I have to list a negative it would be the small size of the room...but I guess that's not unusual in Paris.

« Lovely little hotel in a very convenient location »

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights early this month. It's very near to the Oberkampf metro station. Metro is the best way to commute in Paris, so that was a big us. The staff was very courteous and we got great help in terms of where to visit, when to visit, how to visit, etc. They had a good buffet breakfast as well. And it was fun walking in the beautiful streets around the hotel.

    « Very good hotel »

Nice hotel, close to metro. It was very quiet at night although we stayed there over the weekend and it was full. Room was clean and large enough, with everything required (including tea and coffee). Very friendly staff. We arrived earlier than check-in hours but we could leave our bags and go for a walk and come back later to check-in at any time we wanted.

    « Very good »

very nice location, nice area, very polite staff, some issue with bathroom doors (water leaking) but very good overall. would recommend again, go for higher floor facing backwards for quiet side, plenty of shops

« 3 Day Romatic adventure in Paris »

We booked a 3 day 2 night visit to Paris and we loved every minute of it. The hotel was located in a good neighborhood and a very short walk away from the Metro station which made it perfect for us when we had to go out for a tour, for food or groceries or transportation back to the train station at the end of our visit. The standard room was okay for our short stay but if we were there longer it would not have suited us. The shower is so small you cant maneuver in it so that made it difficult at times but we managed. The room was too small so we declined cleaning service due to our short stay. The highlight of our stay was interacting with each hotel staff member for they were genuinely courteous and helpful to us and every guest when made the other things okay in the end.

« Convenient comfortable friendly hotel »

Warm and friendly staff who provided useful information about off-the-beaten track places to visit. Room was comfortable and had the feel of Provence. The lift was a little claustrophobic (suitable for 2 people only). Breakfast was your typical continental fare, fresh croissants, pain au chocolat etc, fruit, cereals, cheeses, meat and eggs. The metro was a short distance away, making the hotel ideally placed for visiting any area of Paris.

« Good budget hotel in heart of Paris »

I stayed here for 1 night during my stay in Paris. This was my first visit to Paris and I was very excited. The location of this hotel is excellent and not far away from tourist points of interest. I got a good room, very clean and fresh towels and linens. The room had Tea and coffee facilities and also a good wifi connection. Bathroom was a bit compact but clean. The Staff are very helpful and speak good English. We were unable to check in before 2pm as the rooms were full last night hence roamed around streets of Paris for good 4 hours and it was again a great experience. Lots of food joints nearby and hence again quite liked it.

« Charming, Convenient, Comfortable AND a Great Breakfast »

The quality of this hotel was a delightful surprise: Good sized rooms, very helpful staff, comfortable beds, quiet and convenient to so much of Paris, including a great boulangerie around the corner! We stayed in this hotel 5 nights in December and loved it. Nicholas prepared a fresh breakfast each morning with care and creativity that showed in the delicious results.

« Great location, VERY friendly and helpful staff »

The room was great and the staff was even better. They were very helpful and looked up bus schedules for us and let us print our boarding passes. Everything about this hotel was great! Very cozy accommodation in a great restaurant and bar location.

« Great value, good location »

Having stayed in the Marais area before we were looking for a hotel in this area. While small (welcome to Paris) has a chic feel and the frontdesk staff were welcoming and helpful. The room cost us NZ$135 so very reasonable. There is a bar/restaurant next door which is very authentic and serves great food. Plenty of grocery stores etc within easy walk as well as the Metro (Chemin Vert) handy. Easy 5min walk to Place Voges which has great shopping and cafes all around it. If arriving at CDG just order a private shuttle service (Intershuttle) will cost €55 for 2 or more way easier and cheaper than anything else.

« Easy-going comfortable hotel in central Paris »

Easy-going comfortable hotel in central Paris. Very friendly staff and comfortable beds and bath. Shower could have been better, but worked. Breakfast in the cellar was delicious and very cosy. Lively street scene, but nothing really noisy at night.

« Excellent small hotel in the core of Paris »

I booked with a site called MyRoomIn where you can chose not only your hotel, but also your specific room. I got room 505 (on the backside). You can see pictures of the room you want to book and verify it has all you need (coffee machine, decoration, TV, view, ....). Nice room, very quite and cosy. As I book through MyRoomIn, I got a welcome snack in my room and a welcome letter from the hotel manager. It is always pleasant to be welcome. Nice continental breakfast.

    « Excellent stay »

Had a very comfortable stay in this hotel. The rooms were clean. The towels and bed sheets were crisp white- you will feel very much at ease. Most of all the front desk was friendly and helpful. As for location, this hotel is within 5 minute walk to the oberkampf station. It is very accessible. You can get to most attractions within 20 mins (taking 2 trains). Restaurants, convenience stores are also within 10 minute walking distance. This hotel is highly recommended!

    « Convenient! »

Don't expect much from this hotel in terms of amenities. I'm not sure why some reviews mentioned that there wasn't any wifi but we definitely had access to it. The room is quite small though, but I heard from friends that this is normal in Paris.. In fact, they stayed in budget hotels that were much smaller. It's a 3 star hotel, but I find it extremely convenient plus the staff are friendly. Of course, some aren't very fluent in English but they will try their best to assist you. You need not worry if it would be hard to catch a cab to the airport or TGV. The hotel is open 24 hours so the staff can help you make the call to the cab company. Just give them half an hour or more in advance so that they can make the arrangements for you. It's close to a metro station and if you time your stay wisely, there is a market just right in front. Weekend is a flea market & on Tuesdays it is a morning market selling fresh fruits, vege, meat, ham, cheese, etc. There are cafés, bakery & pharmacy just a few doors away or at a block just behind. If your expectation is just to have a place to sleep and shower, this hotel is good enough. For the ladies, they have a hairdryer so you don't have to bring your own.

« Worst choice of my life »

Think again before booking a room from here. Nothing is OK other than location. There was no Wi-Fi at the hotel. So think once more. Having no Internet costed us so much time and money. We could not search for train/plane tickets for the rest of our journey, we could not plan our daily trip, we could not communicate with family etc. I would never ever book a room from this hotel if I knew they do not have Wi-Fi, but they lied to us. Staff speaks only little English and they does not know much about the city or transportation. They want to help but they could not. Although we have booked a comfort room, they gave us a room with a low ceiling on the top floor. We felt compressed in the tiny room. Window was also tiny, not how it looks in the pictures. We could find no authorized person to complain. The lift is so small that 2 people cannot get in with their bags. It is also very old and does not feel safe. And all the other things...

    « Good budget hotel »

I stayed here for three nights as a Birthday treat. I had never been to Paris before so I was very excited . This hotel is in an excellent location for all the tourist points of interest . We are a twin room , very clean , towels changed everyday also bed was linen was changed on night two. Bathroom had good shower , bath robes and slippers plus usual bits and pieces. Tea and coffee facilities in room ,good free air con also free wifi and safe . We did have breakfast on one occasion which was an extra charge , cold meats, cheese fresh fruit, breads etc Staff are very helpful and speak good English, We also left are cases at hotel as we had to check out by 11 on our last day but our Eurostar train was not until 18.00 hours that evening , saved taking them with us all day , it's only 15 minutes to station which was excellent . Would defiantly recommend this hotel and hopefully i will return again .

« St Martin Bastille Best Western »

We were not disappointed in our stay at the St Martin Bastille. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room, though small, was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was modern and well appointed. There are great sidewalk cafes close by for breakfast or late night stops. The metro stop is close by giving you access to all the city. We would certainly recommend this hotel.

« Short but sweet visit »

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Thank you to Xavier and the other friendly and professional staff. Wifi worked without a hitch. Bonus if you're there on a Friday as there's a farmer's market just across the road.

« Best Western Saint Martin Bastille, Paris, France »

We stayed in this hotel for 4 days and found that the hotel is very convenient located close to the subway. It is also within walking to distance to Notre Dame. The rooms are tiny but clean. Free wifi was offered but it broke down one day. The reception personnel was very helpful except one gentleman who was really rude. The only complaint that I have is that they tend to serve French speaking customers first even though we are first in line. The lobby was going through some renovation, therefore, there was no where to sit. The elevator is so small that only 2 pieces of luggage can fit in it. My room was facing a brick wall.

« Small but friendly hotel »

Note this hotel is close to the Oberkampf stop on the Metro- we mistakenly got off at Richard Lenoir- which is a bit of a trek although through a nice enough park. Also- the name has changed yet again, as we thought it was called St Louis, but the receptionist assured us it was the right place. There was decorating work taking place, so the small reception area and stairs smelled strongly of paint- though I'm sure this work will now be finished. The staff were always friendly and helpful, arranging an airport transfer for us when we left. The hotel is small, and the lift tiny! Our room was small but well equipped and with a surprising and welcome amount of storage. The cake was on the hospitality tray was really good- just wish we had a piece each! The bed was comfy and we slept well although there was no view from the window being at the back made the room quiet. We didn't have breakfast, but there are lots of cafes around and even a good market just across the road which gave the location a local rather than tourist identity which we liked. Recommend for couples and short term stay, but not for families or those with mobility problems, as it is so small.

    « small and friendly »

A bit of a surprise, entering the hotel and standing half within a building site (reception and breakfast areas currently undergoing construction), but the welcome was exceptionally friendly. The...

« Short Stay in Paris at Best Western,Saint Martin, Bastille »

The hotel was very clean overall. The front lobby was going through renovation, therefore, there was no place to sit. Wi-Fi was available free but it broke down for 1 day. Our room was very small and we couldn't even open our suitcase unless we put it on the bed. Other than that, it was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Michel Hamizi at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Our stay only got spoiled when another gentleman at the front desk when Michel was off. He was rude and extremely unfriendly. He should never work at the front desk. The location is very close to the metro and grocery store. There were lots of very reasonable priced restaurants and cafes around.

« Good value hotel in Paris »

Stayed 4 nights at BW Saint Martin Bastille. Good value. Nice clean and quiet room. Elevator access. Breakfast buffet included scrambled eggs and sausage and was tasty. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Fluent in English. Metro close by.

« Good value in Paris. »

Good value in Paris. Easy access to metro to connect to central city and sights. Open air market in front of hotel on Wednesday mornings. Very clean rooms and 100% cotton absorbent towels. Bed a bit soft to our liking but comfortable. Helpful and caring staff.

« Luxury standard and service for low cost »

The standard of the hotel was really good... Very friendly people working there.. The room was nice and very clean.... We can only give our best recomodations....The location was very central and with 2 minutes walk to the nearest metro it could not be better. Even the breakfast was fine compared to the normal type of breakfast that you get on a 3 star hotel in Paris thank you for everything!!!!

« Great location for the T-F-SU market »

Small, comfortable hotel directly in front of the market location (fabulous market), with lovely, helpful staff who all made us feel very welcome. Xavier helped us with restaurant reservations, calling taxis, and the delightful breakfast server was most agreeable.

    « Hotel Majestic »

Good and economical to stay in Paris- Good locality easy access to metro rail and within 20 mins can reach all major tourist spots. People who are first time visitors can really opt this heritage hotel

« a very nice hotel downtown cosmopolite Paris »

Friendly staff for this hotel with a real style, much different from typicial hotel; rooms wiith stone floors are wide and give the feeling to be in an ancient place; you do not feel as if you were in an hotel but more like a real Parisian.

    « standard room »

The standard rooms look like single rooms. They are extremeley small. So is the bathroom. The door of the shower does not close properly. Only Franch chanels on TV. There is only one elevator for 2 people.

« Excellant hotel for value and location »

The hotel itself is small as many are in Paris, it was well kept, quiet and the staff were lovely. The bed (king size for them) was actually about queen size, but that's big for Paris. Everything is very small but if you expect that it's not a problem. The hotel is very close to the Oberkampf subway station, therefore very accessible to anywhere in Paris. There is a great fresh food market across the street that goes two times a week and the local restaurant/cafes are decently priced and easy to walk to.
