Best Western Chinatown Hotel

That was the second trip in recent month, and I stayed the same place, Best Western China Town, Yangon, for the second time. I have stayed a full 28 days, a maximum allowance of Myanmar visa (Feb 26th-March 26th, so24). As always, all the staff, from the counter to the kitchen, I will give better than five stars, if there is a rating of more than five. Thank you very much again to Operating Manager Ko Kyaw Swar Oo who always helps me all the way with any trivial thing. Thanks to Kitchen Staff, Ko Myo Swe and the rest of the staff including the two Chef who treated me like one of their family members. The four ladies from the front Desk, Swe Swe, and all. There is nothing I can say better than Thank You so much to all of you. I genuinely appreciate all the staff that I have met. I will be there again in the next few months. Stayed 5 nights at this hotel with an entire football team (players & staff). Hotel staff and management worked really hard to accomodate the demands of our team (dining, gym, internet, etc.). Because of the staff and quality of the hotel amenities & food, the stay was very cozy and welcoming. Kudos to the manager and staff! Salamat!

Excellent accomodation with great staff, always ready to welcome you. The room service and housekeeping staff are always ready and active to serve you. The food is also fresh and good, especially the varieties in breakfast. Good experience all over.

Yangon Airport was on the north side of the city and our hotel, Best Western Chinatown, ion the south side, two blocks from the sea. Communication problem at desk, but got through that. Had to climb several steps to get to the elevator. This was a problem for our traveling companion who uses a power wheelchair. Had to carry it up to the elevator. Rooms were large with a large bathroom with shower and tub. The water coming out of the faucets is not potable, so be careful with that. Desk area with a nice table, chair, desk lamp and two outlets. In-room safe and refrigerator. Instant coffee available with pot to heat water. Very good lighting. This hotel is on a corner in Chinatown. The breakfast buffet is fabulous with chef to make your eggs, waffles or pancakes as you like them. Full selection of breakfast items and attendants to take care of your special needs. Could not ask for better breakfast. They also offer drinks, in the afternoon, at very reasonable prices. Excellent lunches and dinners also offered at reasonable prices. There is not much in the way of restaurants or things to do in the area. You have to take cab to visit attractions in other parts of the city, but only 3000 MMK or about $2.20 US for most anywhere you need to go. Do not think you can find a better bang for your buck than at the Best Western Chinatown. We took several local tours from the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Yangon.

My wife had a booking here but we had to cancel because my father n law passed away. We contacted the staff two weeks before we were supposed to stay there. The staff were very rude and so unhelpful. This was the only hotel who would not refund us on our trip. This was already a very upsetting time for my wife and her family.

Amazing Service & Food at Great Western. Superb management by Kyaw Swar Oo! Would highly recommend the curry, and cake desserts. Very friendly people and very professional. Food came very quick and was extremely fresh!!!!!!!

We stayed here twice during our Myanmar trip. The location is very handy for tourists, the staff are very helpful and friendly, from concierge to reception to the restaurant, and the price is very reasonable. Best of all is the food: the breakfast service is better than many high class establishments. I certainly did not get bored with the selections available. We also chose to dine in the hotel restaurant for some of our evening meals and the food was superb each time. The apparent negatives mentioned by other reviewers are trivial. Yes the lobby is small, but we were not inconvenienced by this at all. And yes the local area is 'gritty'. But it is in Chinatown after all. Some people welcome this authentic local colour of street vendor chaos as adding to their Myanmar experience. We enjoyed our two stays and would be happy to stay here again.

the hotel is excellently situated in chinatown, especially if you want to go out in the evening. 19th street is in walking distance. The staff gives a very good service. For the room you should take an upgrading. It`s worthwhile-look over the old British Hospital, the town and you see the Shwedagon Pagoda. I regularly return there when I am in Yangon

The hotel staff and service is really good. The facilities are clean. Breakfast options were great too. The hotel itself is outdated and in a very gritty part of Yangon. I feel this is more of a 3star hotel than 4 star.

Very disappointing. First, this is a mediocre 3 Star hotel; far below normal Best Western standards, which are typically 4 Star hotels. Staff were unhelpful and generally slow to comprehend basic issues. During my stay, house keeping removed a plastic bag containing a few pairs of socks and underpants which was on the chair in my room. I noticed upon returning that evening, and promptly complained to management. The guy said he would go to housekeeping to investigate and call me back. Around 30 minutes later, he called back saying he was unable to find the bag or its contents in housekeeping, as if to say my complaint was therefore untrue. Apparently the idiot didn't realise that just because the bag/its contents couldn't be found doesn't mean they weren't taken. I asked for USD5 compensation but he declined. Being small money, I didn't take it any further. Staff appeared to be of very low calibre, in need of basic training. The only things in favour of the hotel are its location and price.

We stayed here for 3 nights, the location is great and close to lots of things. Room and bathroom are very clean. Had a couple of meals in hotel restaurant which were excellent and well priced. Thanks to Myo Swe for doing a great job and keeping our beer glasses full. This is 3rd time in Yangon and this is best hotel so far

Traveling and relaxation definitely one of our favorite pillars. ..with radiant wholesome food plus at the start of the day and a relaxing SPA to unwind the pressure after a long day activity. It's a place to be.

By prior arrangement, our room should have been available for an early check in at 07.00. It wasn't, wait a couple of hours was the response. OK, I'll go to breakfast while I wait. On my departure day I will leave before breakfast starts so I'll swap that breakfast for this one while I wait. They were not happy but agreed. Seems it is grumpy night staff at the end of the shift. All other staff were friendly and very helpful. On my early departure they were still grumpy, no 'how was your stay' or 'have a good day'. A standard city centre 3* hotel. Though room size for executive was OK and was equipped with a large TV with several English news channels, tea and coffee, good WiFi, a/c, hairdryer and safe. Breakfast was a normal buffet choice for Asia, several Asian dishes, breads etc and a Western choice of juices, cereals, fruit, bacon or sausage pieces, tomatoes and eggs to choice prepared at an egg station. The restaurant also does dinners which we didn't try preferring the street food choice on nearby 19th street.

The hotel is placed in the crowded Chinatown but is closed to many points of interest of Yangon. Breakfast is good with international and local cuisine choices. -I had a room with a really small window opened in internal passage.

we had a great stay at the Best western. Quite new, the rooms are big and clean. Very friendly staff!! And the breakfast is great. Just around the corner of the chinese neighbourhood, and you can walk to the beatifull Shedagon Pagode. To recommend!

Excellent location in downtown Yangon and walkable to the main attractions in the area. On the doorstep of Chinatown and 19th street which is great for food/drinks in the evening. You can leave your bags in reception after check out and use the 5th floor spa to freshen up if needed.

Fantastic location right at Chinatown Yangon, where food options are aplenty (and cheap), and with lots to see. The hotel staff are all very friendly, and helped us with negotiating with taxi drivers and giving directions. The complimentary buffet was very good, and they made an effort to rotate the dishes. The restaurant staff were also very friendly, and they had good prices for food and drinks if you're too lazy to head out on a hot day. Even for the lowest-priced rooms, the beds were comfortable and clean.

Fantastic location at the gateway to Chinatown which offers a variety of food. The hotel staff are super friendly, from Reception to front door and room service. Breakfast was complementary and had a good mix of Burmese and western choices with again very friendly accommodating staff. Hotel was clean, rooms were clean and dinner at the hotel was well priced and delicious. Definitely recommend.

I was travelling Myanmar, and Yangon was my first destination, so I booked Best Western ChinaTown at short notice, initially, for one night whilst I found my feet in the town. All taxis at the airport know where it is; and it is a great location to explore from, whether by foot, bicycle which I hired, or by local taxis which are always parked outside. The welcome I received was above expectation and there are always lots of staff in reception waiting to help, carry, advise and assist. The rooms and bathrooms are excellent, there is a great breakfast and a small sauna, gym and treatment spa (not expensive or busy) Value and service was above expectation and I ended up extending my stay. I then returned later during my holiday and again before departing back to UK. Great value, great service, a welcome retreat from the fantastic culture, vibrancy and excitement of a first class City. Do stay here yourself, its boutique in size and nicely understated. A great find. Ask for a room as high up as possible, as Yangon traffic can be noisy early morning.

Very good complimentary breakfast. We give this a “10”. Very clean cafeteria. Our room is clean and comfortable. We could see Shwedagon pagoda from the window, be it very far away. Parking space is limited, so it is a kind of hop and go. Staff are very helpful.

We stayed here for 3 nights. It is in a very busy area so expect some noise at night. I was so jet lagged and exhausted that I slept like a baby in their comfy bed and didn't hear a thing. My hubby however did struggle sleeping. The staff here were amazing, always smiling and wanting to do everything for us. Breakfast was delicious with a huge choice of hot and cold food. We also had an evening meal here which again was delicious but the starters are on the large size. Just outside the hotel are the busy bustling market streets, quite an experience. We chose to walk nearly everywhere. 20mins to the train station and 30 mins to pagoda. I'd recommend staying here, it's a nice hotel in a good but busy location.

My wife booked us into this hotel on the recommendation of a family friend; it did not disappoint. In spite of the choice on the website, to me, there are essentially only two classes of room; pagoda view rooms and the others. Pagoda-view rooms face the Shwedagon Pagoda and although the Pagoda is a fair way off, it is still stunning by day or night. During our stay we found all the staff to be very friendly and exceptionally helpful. The complimentary breakfast was of good quality and varied from day-to-day. The only problems were the traffic noise during the day (mainly the widespread use of car horns at the adjacent junction) and the lift access. The lobby lift can only be accessed only via a narrow flight of stairs, meaning that this hotel is not suitable for wheelchair users. This is a great base for exploring by foot or taxi. Turn right out of the main entrance in the early morning, and you quickly come across vibrant street markets.Turn left and you soon find the Thayet Taw Monastery. Its about 30 mins by foot to the Shwedagon and Boatataung Pagodas (in opposite directions), both walks we did in the cool early morning before sunrise. Overall, a great, friendly, hotel in a near perfect location for sightseeing; highly recommended.

Loved this hotel and staff from the moment we entered the reception. Staff was so attentive and professional. Girls at the reception were so flexible and kind to us to arrange us an early checking. Our room and was just fantastic with a fantastic view to Shwedagon pogoda. Location was also great - near by local markets and activities. Breakfast and it's chef deserves our special compliments!!!!!!! It was one of the best even between our experienced in super luxury hotels. Big variety both traditional asian and European foot and very nicely served. Excited by local Myanmar sweets. All in all. Great value for money. Thanks to the staff!

Great hotel in a perfect position for visiting Yangon. Our room was big, clean and confortable. Just a bit noisy due to the city traffic. Good and tasty breakfast. Great staff, friendly and helpful. Recommended!

Mom and I stayed here for two weeks. The location is near to everything. Buffet breakfast has so many choices. I really mean it. You'll never regret to dine in the restaurant as well because all the staff was friendly and the foods were very good especially the soft shell crab and prawns. Better use Grab for transportation because it's too cheap :) If your budget is so tight (even almost all local products in Myanmar are cheap), this hotel has many convenient stores nearby. The fitness center was clean and the sauna. Special mention to our room steward Kyaw Myo Naing from the 11th floor, Kyaw Swar Oo of the restaurant and all his colleagues there, and Albert at the lobby. Lastly, if you're sensitive to noise, ask for a higher floor. They will provide earplugs as well, but my 77-year-old Mom doesn't care at all.

The staff : They wanted to charge extra as they were not able to provide a double bed for the room category we booked (seems frequent when reading other comments). So we took the twin bed and there started 2 long days where we felt the staff was not friendly nor keen to help. They did not provide any information unless you ask for it (time and location of breakfast, how to access to the spa, map of the town... we didn't even try to ask for places to go or eat...) The breakfast : lot of choices but nothin really good apart the fruits... (bad coffee, bad juices, bad yoghurt, bad egg cooker...). Staff at the spa, the lady kept checking on us every 10min or so to make sure there is only one person in the sauna cabin or hammam cabin (a rule she created as it was indicated no where that we could not be 2 in the cabin), the towels smells like never washed... However they offer to keep your luggage and allow shower after check out (relief if you have a long flight after) Good location Not all the staff is rude, but the ones who are made the whole journey unpleasant.

Comfortable room once we downgraded from "Executive", as most rooms give out on a very busy junction with huge traffic day and night.. We lost money, there was no offer of refund, and the only option was to accept a much smaller room looking out over a busy,grotty, market street. There's NO double glazing and even on the 12 th floor you could not sleep. The staff was friendly but needed prompting about everything. Breakfast was delicious and the variety of dishes,fresh fruits etc..a delight. After 3 months of traveling,i thought Yangon could be missed out!

I found the hotel to be very comfortable with very helpful and friendly staff. The 4th floor restaurant was well provisioned for breakfast and had various promotions, such as happy hour, gin offers etc., to tempt travellers back later. The 5th floor housed a gym and spa area, the latter taken advantage off on our last day. With a very late flight (2am), the hotel happily facilitated storage of luggage whilst we did final sightseeing after which we had an evening massage, a shower and change of clothes for travelling. The hotel was central 19th (Beer St) was only 2 streets away and was fun. Many other places, such as Bogyoke Aung San Market were quite walkable and for others, a taxi didn't cost us more than 3000 kyat (€1.50) during our visit.

The hotel is located at the corner , exactly nearby downtown. Room was really spacious and super clean, wi-fi + breakfast were great. Eastern Orchid Cafe offer a la carte dining all day long for more than a reasonable prices. Staff is super helpful and polite, well English speaking.. Highly recommended..

The hotel is well located in the downtown area. Staff in the restaurant and front desk are very helpful. Good breakfast. Good spa and reasonable. Housekeeping is average. Items were not cleared away. There was a gap in the carpetting which caused us to trip. A makeshift solution was found by putting floor towels in the gap. Room was very small and poky.

We booked 3 rooms in all. Somehow one of the rooms was much smaller than the rest however. The bigger rooms were much bigger n comfy. Small one seems tight Not sure why. Thought i booked all the same category. One of the rooms faced the main road and had a view of the pagoda. Nice but its also hence facing the main road and is noisy. They were doing some renovation in room next door which was very noisy. Only stopped after some time when we went to complaim about it. They apologised n sent a fruit platter. Breakfast is really good. Wide variety chinese western desserts etc.

Stayed in this hotel for a few nights, good hotel, rooms clean and quiet, average breakfast (included in room rate), location was ok but hard to find hotel in Yangon that is close to most things. This hotel is walking distance to 19th street which has good street food, large bottle of beer approximately $4US, so go there for a feed.

CY ( 19.11.17 ) My wife and I stay 2 days in this hotel. The hotel was located around China Town, and good point hotel for Yangon travel. The restaurant, massage shop, attraction and convenience store was located near hotel, and there was crowded around hotel. The staff was very kind, and excellent and the price was good. Though the room was a little smaller than I think, but no problem. Because there was located main street, so a little noisy.

We have been blessed to have great accommodation and clean room at Best Western. The crew provide quick response particularly the head of Myo Saya Htut the chief Housekeeper. He is truly hospitable and provide what we need immediately. A quick response to our call. We couldn't ask for more. They have also great restaurants and the vegetarian food is great at reasonable price. When we visit Yangon we will surely stay at Best Western Chinatown .

I had a wonderful experience staying here! The hotel is in a perfect location of Yangon in the middle of all the street life of the city. My room had an amazing view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. The concierge manager, Mr. Ooh Tun Min helped me plan a trip to Inle Lake including all flights, hotel, transfers and boat tours all for a very affordable price. I could never had done that myself. The rest of the staff of the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly. The restaurant had a great breakfast buffet and they also had a gym with a spa. I highly recommend this hotel for couples or solo travelers.

We spent two days in Yangon at the beginning of November and enjoyed our stay at the Best Western. The staff (both front desk and otherwise ) were friendly, accommodating and professional, and all spoke excellent English. The lobby is very small and if the hotel is busy ( which it was when we checked in), it's very easy to feel crammed into a corner - the lobby staff saw that and went out of their way to ensure we were as comfortable as possible while we waited. The hotel is well located to attractions and restaurants and only a few blocks from the upscale Junction City shopping center. The staff were very helpful assisting with with locating sightseeing stops and securing taxis as well. The hotel offers a small but excellent spa service which we thoroughly enjoyed and has comfortable rooms with excellent wifi and reliable air conditioning - very important if you are in Myanmar during the hot weather. I would caution travellers about the in house restaurant at dinner time - the food is superb but the service is unbearably slow. If you plan to enjoy dinner in the hotel, make sure you are not in a hurry and understand that the wait will be worth it. ( Breakfast doesn't seem to suffer from the same timing issue, possibly because it's a buffet). Overall this is a very good hotel and I would recommend it to anyone staying in Yangon.

The staff here are great. They looked after us and ensured our bags were safe to store there for 3 weeks. The buffet breakfast is excellent. The restaurant staff, Thin Thin Khing and Kyaw Swar Oo always greated you with the biggest smiles in the restaurant and would help with anything. Thin Thin even gifted me a longi! Only negative is that for the price the rooms are small. Our first room was tiny, too small for the price in hingsight and I wish I'd asked for another. Our second room (we stayed two different occasions) was a bit better and satisfactory for the price. The location is great for china town, 19th st, and the Indian area for great food. Taxi to downtown doesn't take long.

We only stayed two nights, which turned out to be more than enough. Our room was super small and only had a tiny window which was too high up to even look out. Breakfast was really good with loads of different foods to choose from. The staff are so friendly and helpful, but the location turned out to be rather disappointing. There's a horrible smell (sewer?) when you step out of the building and it was a struggle to find a decent restaurant nearby. I realize the hotel can't do anything about that, but it did detract from our stay in Yangon

This hotel situated in Chinatown Yangon and very good hotel. Can visit downtown Yangon easily and can eat dinner at Chinatown 24 hours restaurants. Cheaper room price and also have good body massage. We can also visit ancient Chinese temple near by hotel and can make walking in early morning downtown Yangon streets.

This hotel exceeded my expectations for all the important things. I confess my expectations were lowered on arrival - the building is not particularly impressive, just a narrow frontage on an unattractive road, and the lobby is less than grand. But grand lobbies aren't exactly useful. The room on the 6th floor was clean and spacious and well supplied with slippers, gowns, power outlets, hair dryer, small mini bar, etc. The bathroom was also clean and the shower was very good, not just a hand held shower in a bathtub. And service was enthusiastic and helpful. The restaurant is surprisingly good. Meals are great value (partly the Myanmar exchange rate I am sure) and everything we tried tasted great. The buffet breakfast is a higher standard than most SE Asian breakfasts that I am used to. Location seems good - it is in Chinatown and seems central to the downtown area. To be honest, I am still not sure what you need to be close to. But the major tourist attractions are a short, cheap taxi ride away, or a long walk if you're so inclined. We had a street-facing view, which was a nice outlook, but the noise from the street is a bit annoying. I am not fond of the Myanmar obsession with using car horns all the time, but I don't know if you can ever get away from that. A downside might be the lack of amenities, such as a pool or gym. I like to exercise, and there's not much good running around downtown Yangon, so a gym would have been nice. It was rainy season while we were here in early November. We stayed in our room more than we otherwise would have. At least our room was a nice enough place to do that.

The hotel is in the city's heart, right next to the night market. Does not have a lot of facilities, but if your main goal is to visit the city, it is good enough. The staff is very nice and always trying to make you comfortable.

2日間のジュニアスイートルームの滞在でした。通りに面していて少し音が気になりましたが、バスタブ付き、クイーンサイズベッド、十分な広さの部屋で快適でした。朝食はコンチネタルですが中華街だけあって中華系寄りです。 ルームクリーニング、各種手配などしっかり対応してもらえたので気になるところはありません。 2 days stay in junior suit room with bustub and shower. bit noisy due to street side but confortable stay for me that queen size bed and enough space. staff were friendly and good performance even special request such as room service or cleaning also travel arrangement breakfast is continental and asia style buffet could meet my expectation. under mostly higher price pressure in Yangon, this hotel price is best for me.

I had been serviced by a badly mannered and making faces staff at the checkin. The manager was called. I had been dared by the manager to check for availability of the rooms in agoda and there were availablilities. Bad hotel do not spend your money here.

Convenient Chinatown location - particularly to lots of street-side restaurants on 19th street. Sits on a busy road, but rooms are quiet. 24-hr Security staff on the front door. Wide range of good breakfast buffet including fresh noodle dishes, lovely fresh fruit and pastries. Good coffee too! All staff are lovely and speak quite good English. Arrived late our first night, so ate in. Decent dinner. However, as I said, there is no swimming pool - so its probably more suited to business travellers and tourists who only need to spend a night here or two. Good value - expected from a Best Western.

We were there for business and had a great experience with the stay here. Hospitality hotel staff smiles and greetings really impress us a lot. Although the room is small, everything needed is provided and not noisy at all. What's more, the service here is more than we paid. For breakfast, oriental breakfast and Myanmar dishes are served. The place is in China town and is near to the new mall " Junction city". Definitely, I'll stay in this hotel for my next visit.

As my review title says it is best for business travellers and tourists without pre-teen and teen children. The entrance to the hotel is right from the footpath. One has to alight from the vehicle at the curb and meander through the walking population into the hotel. The lobby is small but tastefully decorated. The check-in was prompt and we got into our room within ten minutes of getting off the car. Here is something that must be noted that one has to climb up four steep steps to get into the lift. The room was well appointed having a view of the main street below and the Shwedagon Pagoda in the distance. The toilet was spanking clean and spacious. Only the spring door made a loud creaking noise while opening and closing. No problem if you are alone but likely to wake up your partner at night. The breakfast buffet was was one the best and with myriads of items, I have ever seen. The location was the best with a lot of eating places all around. There is a liquor shop two buildings to the left of the entrance of the hotel where I found genuine Scotch Whisky at prices below the Duty-Free. The hotel is most comfortable, at a most convenient location in Yangon.

This has all the trappings of a big chain but all the good things of a small one. Great breakfast buffet..all possible comforts and mainly..bang in the centre of town. Our room had a great view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. Highly recommended

Best Western Chinatown Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar is by far my best hotel for my recent trip to Asia and Japan since they provided a large selection of food to sample during breakfast. They made me feel like a valued client. I will certainly book this hotel when I return to Yangon, Myanmar.

We had a great stay in this hotel. Room is clean with powerful A/C, bed is comfortable. Their staff are friendly and helpful especially Kyaw Soe Aung and Kyaw Swar Aung who has been hospitable and put in extra miles to make our stay pleasant.

We stayed in this hotel located at Chinatown recently and found that its hotel rate is very reasonable with free breakfast.It is very comfort and clean. The staff workers are very helpful. Very near the wet market where you buy food, vegetables and fruits. The traffic around the hotel can be very heavy and maybe difficult to find parking for your cars.

overall, this is good hotel. the breakfast has many choices and the taste also very nice. the location is near the Chinatown and one the big shopping mall. so it's quite convenient to the tourist. but the facility is quite old, need to do the renovation if possible.

The service was outstanding especially the housekeeping manager MYO and his assistant TSO they make you feel at home and welcomed they do an outstanding job. they went the extra mile for me they both have such a great attitude Thank you so much :)

stayed a few nights in here with fri... tiny lovely room with good lighting ... n so comfy ! Service is great too ...staffs r so friendly & well trained ... Breakfast has lots of variety to choose international buffet ! As in downtown , Except car parking everything is great & worth to stay !

Horrid cleaning: in both beds there were dirty sheets, not changed. In one bed there was also a mattress cover with organic stains. In another you had hair. The rooms smelled of indoors and mold. The carpet was dirty. The shower curtain was filthy. The windows do not have double glazing and pass the noise and the horns of the intense traffic of the streets below. Upon receipt we were asked to pay the bill. At our refusal they held a passport until payment at check-out, despite the booking made in Booking with credit card data.

They changed my room because of the mold's and Kitchen's smell but the new room was worste in mold's smell and i was not able to slepp for 2 nights !! They asked to be paid at the arrival ( they had the warranty of "Booking" with a credit card) so i had to give them my passport that gave me back at the ceck out, until i paid ,and so i could not proced with on line ceck in of my flight ( i asked back my passport but they refused!!) My room ( also my friend's rooms ) had old, dirty, terrible carpet on the floor !! The sheets were dirty , and the same for the mattress cover (body stains) and the same was for my friends . we chose the hotel ( 4 strars) becouse of the renovation job !! i can conferme they didn't .!!! so terrible experience !!!

The staff, while polite and friendly, do not have the best English/ are not too knowledgeable and therefore we found it quite difficult to ask about taxis, where to go, trains etc (we were told we could board the circular train from a nearby station only to get there and realise that the train was closed for repairs I believe). Room was clean but tiny- there was barely room to lay down my suitcase- and there was no window (well there was but it was painted black). The shower head is unadjustable and was built in such a way that it sprayed directly onto the shower curtain (and dripped down), making a mess of water outside the cubicle

Stayed a few nights in August. Arrived in a torrential downpour but the concierge team were ready with brollies! The rooms aren't modern, but neither is the price. Well situated and very helpful staff. Breakfast is fabulous! Short walk to Junction City. Night food market close by. Lots of ATMs around too. Recommended!

Depends on what you are looking for. Here's my take on the hotel: Pros It's near Chinatown and so very vibrant with lots to see and eat. Conveniently located as it's located next to a main street. Safe as there is a guard stationed at the hotel entrance at all times. Comprehensive variety of food served during breakfast. Good service and attentive staff. Well stocked toiletries. Cons Dated looking rooms. Noisy as it's located just next to a main street with a lot of car honing noises even late at night or in early in the morning. narrow corridors on the room floors. Salted water from the taps (even after boiling!)

Room - Tiny but good decoration. Bathroom is wonderful. Lot of space. Service - Very good service mind staff. Good English and helpful. Well trained. Breakfast - Very good. Enjoy variety of international food and some local food. Location - City center. Air con - Not cold. Take time to get it cold as wish. Overall - Good, will come back again.

Location is good, easy to move about, good breakfast, good wifi, excellent service (check in is very fast, helpful staff, and they even packed our breakfast to be taken away as we need to leave for airport at very early hours). Room is a bit small (but understandable as it is in the city centre. And there are plenty of grab cars and taxi in front of the hotel waiting. Please use grab car services as the rate offered is very cheap, from airport to hotel and vice-versa.

To start with the negative,our room was small,and wifi was not great. However the service from all the staff,- reception,waiting staff,chefs,housekeeping and concierges,was superb. Just two night stays before I fly back to next destination. A short moment but it was memorable. Room is facilitated with comfortable bed, LED TV, Mini bar and other amenities. Hot water is available and easy to get hot within a few seconds. Staffs are excellent and helpful, special mentioned to Joseph, the Night Manager and his colleagues. Thanks for umbrella in raining days. They guided me landmarks of the city and nightlife of Chinatown area especially 19th street where many street food and fresh fruits are plenty and rich. Good location and Grab taxi are easy to access with cheaper price.

Room clean and comfortable. Very central location. Breakfast adequate but could have more choice. Evening meals were excellent and ahappy hour was helpful. I also used the gym which had a sauna--however the treadmills were not in use but I used the cycling facilities.

This is a very comfortable hotel as a home base. I stayed on arrival in Myanmar and returned for a few days at the end of my holiday. Perfect location and the staff were very friendly. The breakfast spread was good. Rooms were very clean and comfy though not very spacious. But this is normal in the Yangoon city with most hotels. Will visit again.

No access to gym after 7am. BF serves late at 0630am. The front office manager refused to take the req to provide access to gym at 06am instead. Not good for busn trip when one has to leave the hotel early n back after sunset. Mr.Joseph has a very outstanding service. Though he has no authority, he tried to handle my request professionally with threat for being accused by his superior for raising up the issue to higher management due to unable to handle the situation. I put this into the public to confirm that Joseph took the action very well and to prevent him from any problem. He should be complemened and awarded.

The location is perfect. My room has a view of the Shedagon Pagoda, which I didn't expect. It was the most spectacular thing I had ever seen in my entire life. The room is nicely decorated, comfortable, and well equipped with everything you need. The hotel is located only a few minutes walk from 19th street, which is where you go for great Yangon street food. The most interesting places downtown are also just walking distance away. The staff is great, very friendly, very helpful, very engaging. I felt taken care of. I had a few meals in the restaurant, and they were great too. There's also a convenient store right next to the hotel for extra water or beer. The curb was a little crowded, so when I'm trying to get on a taxi I would actually have to to go on the street. But I think that's expected in downtown Yangon.

We stayed here in low tourist season, so it was pretty quiet and peaceful. The hotel is located in the central city so it was easy for us to walk around and enjoyed street food as well as local restaurants. Staff are very nice and helpful. Good food for breakfast. One thing I wonder is that why they leave a lot of space for bathroom while the room space is limited and only enough for 2 single beds.

The hotel is centrally located in the downtown area; so the hotel rooms are very very small. Mostly short term leisure travellers, so it can get crowded, for e.g. breakfast turned into musical chairs, sometimes! Staff is very responsive. Internet is free and good, but have to re-login sometimes. The elevator is a few steps higher than the lobby, bad for wheelchair users and those carrying heavy bags. Ok hotel for a couple of days.

Overall the experience are good, the staffs are friendly and will auto offer some of the services such as morning call, the foods are very nice, the room is clean. Just that the internet is a bit slow if inside the room.

We were here for a friend's wedding and stayed for 3 days/2 nights. Before our arrival I had been in contact with Andrew, Front Office Manager and luckily he explained the room we booked was without window and bathtub. So we paid extra to upgrade. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived to sending us off. Our room on the 10th floor was of good size and comfortable with the basic hotel amenities. The minus were the noise from the road traffic and the constant blaring from the loudspeaker from the hospital across the road throughout the day and night. Not sure if the hotel is doing some renovation or the neighbor but the mornings can also be interrupted with constant hammering and drilling with the 2 mornings driving us awake. The hotel is indeed old needing a facelift but with the neighborhood in similar condition little can be done externally but to upgrade the interior room fitting. Toilet flush that needs hard pressing to activate, toilet seat covers that requires constant adjusting, bathtub that leaks water from the floor thus making the toilet floor wet and no hot water or takes a very long time before the water gets hot thus wasting water while waiting. WiFi signal is strong in the room and throughout the hotel. Breakfast was good with a very wide spread and it changes daily. Especially love the local sweets/dessert spread and the many tea spread. Location is good as it's in the middle of Chinatown and walking distance to Junction City, Bogyoke market and Sule Pagoda. Located on 17th street one can experience the local markets nearby and the famous 19th street food alley.

Greetings, some of my reviews about your hotel is as follows: 1) Hotel location is convenient and easily approachable. 2) Staff on duty were found to be very polite and courteous but the problem is most of them do not understand basic English so it is very difficult to convey if you do not know local language (hotel should encourage English speaking staff induction). 3) Room in which I was staying had a permanent bad smell/stink, not sure what was smelling but it was not good. 4) The size of soap and quality of shampoo and body wash needs to be improved. 5) The TV channels were blur and continuous lines were coming beside limited channels also. 6) GYM was not operational and they don't have swimming pool also so no recreation/sports activities. 7) On second day some repair/construction activities were going on so it was very disturbing and noisy. 8) Electricity/power supply for long hours are big problem in whole Yangon and so hotel was also impacted.

Had a very enjoyable stay. Work related trip running a training course and hotel perfect for location. Rooms clean and comfortable. Be aware there is a switch by the door if you don't want your room cleaning - a colleague pressed this in error! Joseph the night manager deserves special mention for being willing to come to nearby market to act as translator on several occasions, and making sure we had everything we needed for a successful course. We stayed 1 night here and the hotel is well located and within walking distance of Bogyoke Market. Beautiful decor both in the room, restaurant and lobby areas. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast buffet was the best we had throughout our tour of Myanmar. Sooo many options including an egg station. Rooms are large, clean and very comfortable including the bed. If visiting Yangon again I would definitely stay at the Best Western Chinatown Hotel without a doubt!

Stayed for 2 nights. We got here at 5:30 from overnight bus. Staff stated its too early, said we could check-in at 9:30. A bit grumpy. Paid for breakfast and had that while we waited. Location not as good as further away from downtown. Room very good, clean. Thought there was a window open but no! Street. Noise loud even up to the 11 th where we were. New widows required. Breakfast very good.

We stayed for 2 nights in this hotel. Our room was on the 12th floor. The room was clean. The AC could use some improvement because it takes time for the room, which is small room to cool. The toilet was spacious. The breakfast was great. It has a lot variety. The staffs were accommodating and helpful. There is a nearby convenient stores. I highly recommend this hotel if your planning to stay in Chinatown. There are a lot of food stalls and market in the area.

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel (standard room, 9th floor). The room was clean, good AC with city view (small window) and had everything what you need. Bathroom was also clean, water/hot water had good pressure. Breakfast (included in the price) buffet was great with Asian/western food. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There are two lifts to reduce the waiting time. The location is very good to visit night food stalls/markets in the Chinatown area.

The staff was very kind and the breakfast was excellent as it had both western and Burmese selections. The location was fantastic for the morning market just around the corner. The rooms are pretty basic, but the beds were comfortable and room was clean and quiet. We traveled with our two teenage children and they thought the WiFi was decent :)

we were given a room on the 6th floor. The sound from main street is not proofed hence every single honk and tyre tracks can be heard. If you are a light sleeper, probably good to let the hotel know so can arrange you with back alley view room (lesser noise). The staff are very polite. The room is clean. Nearby to famous 19th street, just 5 mins walk. Overall good.

We stayed in the Superior room. The room and also bathroom were clean and spacious and also well equipped. Breakfast is great and offers a lot of variety. Location of the hotel is also great, walking distance to Sule pagoda. Overall I think this place is a great choice if you want to stay in downtown Yangon. Staff should improve their English. We didn't really communicate much, all we did was ask them if they can tell us at what time does the JJ Express ferry bus leave from Aung San Stadium. First they answered that there is no ferry bus and when we sort out that there is, we were told to call them ourself.

Hotel is a million times smarter inside than outside. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Dining room is light and bright and the buffet breakfast is top class. Unfortunately there's no bar but this isn't a problem because you're 3 minutes walk from the eating centre of Chinatown - 19th street. There you can choose to have a beer for $2 at Terminal 5, Kayne Myat, or the Double Happiness bar. The street kicks off at night with dozens of street side charcoal BBQ restaurants. A foodies' paradise and so close to your hotel.

Since 2016, I decided to shift from many other fancy and expensive hotels in Yangon to Best Western China Town as per a friend recommendation, and I couldn't be happier with the change. This property is well located in downtown and offers pretty much what you may expect from those 4*, but for a half of the price. Staff is wonderful, friendly and super attentive to any need or request I made. Rooms are quite comfy, clean and well designed and furnished, and amenities are above par. Food and dinning are very good, but their breakfast is the best in town, full range of Asian and International cuisine choices impeccably arranged and presented. Well appointed chefs and waiters will make your experience very pleasant. My only suggestion for improvement would be to make operational the second elevator that is only allowed for uses of their Staff, because the one for the guests takes forever to reach your floor.

how come this hotel has more than 2*? No real lobby, no bar, no pool, no gym, etc. Location is good and the breakfast buffet is good that is all. The staff is after your tips, If you don't need to go to Burma, don't go

It has been years since we stayed in a Best western, no particular reason, they just weren't on our radar. this stay has rejuvenated our interest, from checkin to check out, they were professional in there duties, the room was clean and spacious. A special mention goes to the Duty Manager Sous Chef Ye Maung, who assisted us in our needs with no fuss and a positive outcome. All in all a pleasant stay.

We chose this hotel for our first stay in Yangon(Rangoon) and weren't dissapointed.Our room whilst not large was comfortable with good wifi.All the staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem for them.Breakfast was quite good for the price we paid for the room,dinner and lunches we had out as that is our thing.We liked the location with coffee,cafes and restaurants within walking distance.There are many local type markets very close to the hotel,good for exploring not for shopping,although there is some very fresh fruits to be had.

This is a repeat visit with friends. We stayed at Best Western Chinatown Yangon which is conveniently located and found our way around with the help of friendly staff who pointed us the way. We also came across an English speaking taxi driver who took us around to a few landmarks. Food at Best Western is good. We dined in for breakfast and dinner. We will be back for more of Yangon and will surely be back at Best Western.

We spent 6 nights at the Best Western Chinatown and were more than pleased with the service they offer. First thing – if you choose the right room type you will be in heaven, if not it can get very loud as people are honking day and night. They want to please their customers so they first give away rooms facing the Shwedagon Pagoda/city, but be aware that you will also face the main road and the junction with traffic day and night – ask for a room overlooking the other side of the hotel - view is not so good but it is very silent. Also be aware of rooms at each corner of the building – you might have a balcony but the door is not sound proof (only the window) so you will hear the honking as well. Besides that I truly think this hotel ins one of the best in the city. You are in the middle of Chinatown which is an experience on its own. Within 10 minutes of walk you will find the Bogyoke Market and the Christian Church, add 10 more minutes and you will arrive at Yangon Main Station where you can board the circle train. There is also one train stop really close to the hotel, I think it`s called Lam Wa Da, but better ask at the reception, staff is super friendly and willing to help. We had to change room 3 times to get the silence and quiet one we needed but it was totally worth it – we stayed on the 14th floor, there are the Premium Rooms for a very good rate. We got two bottles of water every day for free, the cleaning lady was always smiling and did a very good job. We left some cheese in the fridge before checking out and they brought it down to us to give it back. Staff is very sincere and well trained. The breakfast buffet is awesome, they serve breakfast between 06:30 and 10:00 and have a wide range of choice from Asian to European food, they have an egg station, also make fresh waffles. Staff is always smiling and very attentive. Try the fresh ginger tea, fabulous. They will do everything to make their customers happy. The quality of the food is amazing – we went out for dinner once to Junction City but got worse quality for the same price as we paid for our lunch/dinner at the hotel. We ate there 8 times as the food was super delicious and for a very reasonable price (e.g .main dish like fried chicken with cashew nut USD 5). It was very clean and the waiters and everybody else super friendly. If you need to buy something you will find a huge and very luxury shopping mall called Junction City just 10 minutes walk away from the hotel; they have a supermarket on the 4th floor which offers a lot of European food brands as well. You will also find ATM`s on the 3rd floor there. There is also an ATM close to the hotel, just go out of the sliding door and turn right. The ATM has a yellowish sign with a “rainbow” over it, I can not remember the name of the bank, btw the only ATM we could withdraw money from (we are from Austria), not every ATM will give out money even if you have international cards. Yangon was the first stop on our Asia tour and we felt very welcome at this hotel and we can recommend it to everybody. It was a perfect experience.

The Best Western Chinatown hotel really gave us a great first impression of Myanmar and a lovely start to our trip. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and when we arrived tired on an early overnight flight we were allowed to check in early which was very kind and appreciated. We ordered breakfast room service that morning, which was average unfortunately - my boyfriends boiled eggs were completely raw, I'm not sure if they had even been boiled...and my scrambled eggs were extremely overdone. This was actually strange considering the breakfast buffets the rest of our stay were really good, so I'm not sure if it was a different chef, but please in future keep the room service breakfasts to the same standards. The rooms were lovely, actually much brighter and nicer than the pictures show, very spacious, clean and comfortable! On our first day the staff forgot to makeup our room, even though we left the 'please make up our room' sign on, so a bit more attention would be good, as it was very disappointing to arrive back to the breakfasts from that morning. We had a back, neck and shoulder massage in the spa for $10 which was great! It was a really nice spa with flowers for decoration everywhere and the staff were lovely. The staff throughout the hotel were lovely. The entrance to the Best Western seems a little dodgy from the outside, but Yangon isn't the cleanest city anyway and once you're inside its a nice break from the hustle and bustle. Overall, for the price, the hotel was stylish and comfortable and staff were great, but they need to pay more attention to make your stay a smoother experience, but still a great friendly start to our trip.

Good location, fabulous breakfast and happy hour (food and staff) and strong wifi. On third day of 4 night stay we requested 5:30 wake up call, breakfast box to go, and taxi to train station. Assured all requests okay. On departure day we got 5:50 wake up call and then front desk staff kept insisting that we couldn't have breakfast before 6:30 and no boxes available. Finally, our taxi driver was headed to airport and we had to realize he'd passed the turn for train station. Miracle I caught it without coffee.

Good location in the heart of Chinatown. Some places of tourists' interest are walking distance. Good area to experience the local day to day life. Though surroundings are not that tidy due to lots of vending happening everywhere, it was safe and quiet. Breakfast is just not a huge spread but acceptable. Stayed at an executive room which was clean and well provided with the basic needs. Had not much encounter with the hotel staff except when needing a taxi. Quite disappointed that the taxis waiting outside the hotel charge much more than Grab taxis. I did insist that they use their Grab App to get us a taxi to the airport.

It's an ok hotel, but nothing special. Centrally located in Chinatown, very noisy at night. We were upgraded, but I still felt very claustrophobic as the room was long and narrow and the window was way off to the side. Hotel was clean, staff very attentive. Dining in was very good for us as we did not want to get sick before our trip started.

I chose the Best Western Chinatown due to its location. - This did not disappoint. The hotel is literally right on the edge of the fascinating part of Yangon's China Town. My reservation included breakfast which was adequate, mainly consisting of Asian food from a buffet. Upon arrival I was offered upgraded rooms at a cost of US$15 per night. I looked at the rooms which were a good bit larger than the one for which I had pre paid, but declined them mainly on grounds that, although they offered a fine view of the Schwedagon Pegoda, they also ovelooked the adjacent Anawrahta Road which, self evidently, was very busy and noisy. Both my rear rooms offered no view at all but were quiet in the evening. My reason for changing rooms was due to refurbishment work in the hotel adjacent to my 1st room which began around 0900 on the first morning of my stay (I had checked in around 2100 the previous evening) . The front desk staff were helpful and friendly sorting out this difficulty enabling me to complete my stay in peace. Indeed all the hotel staff were very friendly and helpfull By chance I eventually met the hotel manager, Mr Andrew Kyaw Latt, who speaks near perfect English. Mr Latt was very informative about Yangon and made some good suggestions for my stay as a tourist. I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel restaurant. The food quality was excellent and reasonably priced. Everything in the hotel worked. The internet, the plumbing etc. There was only one lift which was a little tedious at times to the 12th floor. Great experience at the airport, Immigration was straight forward, baggage was there, Hotel Driver was there, and the drive to the hotel was about 30-40 minutes. The front desk team at Best Western were fabulous, plenty of English, wanting to please, nothing too hard. We paid for a small upgrade of USD10 per night to top floor slightly bigger room - great call, clean and well appointed. Excellent in house restaurant, suit most tastes; also a very well appointed Spa and worth trying. I would certainly go back to this place.

This was a wonderful start to our vacation. The breakfasts were amazing, the staff delightful and friendly, our room clean, cool and relatively quiet. My wife was impressed! Visit 19th St if you stay.

I really loved this hotel. They got a lot of things right. Moved here after staying at a cheaper place a few nights, and for $20 more I got an executive suite here! They have great last minute bargains. The room was huge, view of the Shwedagon Pagoda and the city, bathroom with deep bath. I needed to work from the hotel room which was very comfy. Good wifi, comfortable desk. Big comfy bed. Everything clean. Had room service a few times which was fine. Location is good but not actually close to good restaurants, you need to walk about a km. Same distance is the Junction Plaza mall and the Bokyoke market. both walkable. Staff were extremely helpful and nothing was a bother. Recommend!

Stayed for 2 nights on my business trip in Yangon. From the moment of check-in until check-out, generally everything is fine and very comfortable experience during my stay in this hotel. I opted for Junior suite and the room rate i paid is very economical. It's easy to get to the hotel from airport and vice versa, especially with Grab e-hailing service available. The Hotel location is good as there are two convenient store just located right beside of the hotel, eateries and pubs are within walking distance and shopping complex (Junction city) is just within 10 mins walk. The only drawback would be sound-proofing even though ear bud are provided. If you require decent silence environment for a proper sleep over, you may find this annoying . However, i would definitely consider this hotel within my accommodation list for my next visit mainly due to the competitive room rates.

All staffs eg. doorman, reception, F&B, housekeeping are so welcome, willingness to help, so friendly. I stayed here many times once I worked for business trip. I like it, it is located in downtown, easier to go anywhere by walk for shopping, sightseeing Shwedagon Pagoda, street food,etc. including food is delicious , variety food, good service-mind. Overall is excellent!

It was an amazing stay at this hotel. Rooms were elegantly decorated. TV was quite big in size. Cleanliness were maintained everywhere. There were enough plug points. So many options in breakfast. It seems that they have taken care of everything you may ask for.

Amazing location, only a block away from some of the best markets in the city. Staff is super friendly and breakfast was amazing. The rooms were very clean and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. I would definitely stay here again. From the front desk manager (Andrew), to the food and beverage manager (Kyaw Swar Oo), to the front desk and restaurant staff (the food is fabulous), porters and all-round customer service specilaists...a constant smile is on every face!. If you're looking for a hotel that is located only steps away from Chinatown and in the midst of the bustling city of Yangon, you can't go wrong staying at the Best Western Chinatown Hotel!

On November 27, around 17.30, I called the reception desk to book a 1-hour massage (full-body traditional) at 18.00 in your SPA. Payment for the massage took place before the service was provided. At 18.00 I entered the SPA where I dressed my pants and a shirt for massage. The masseuse started the leg massage focusing on the intimate parts of my body. After a while, the lady from the massage suggested that I remove my pants and be naked. I refused to say that it would be more comfortable in my trousers. After a few minutes, the Lady went to the door to close it. Then in the middle of the massage she offered me a special massage. After her question, "Do you want a special massage?" I replied firmly that no. I replied that I want a standard massage. The masseuse continued to ask me the same thing. After a few of the same questions, I asked the question Masseuse, "What is a special massage?" To which I received the Masseuse's response, quote: "Masturbation by hand" !!!! It was the worst experience in the SPA for me. I felt like a molested person and I can not recover myself until now! I have not met anywhere in the world and slept in several hundred hotels around the world that the Masseuse would touch my intimate parts of the body and suggest sexual activities during the massage. If such a situation took place in Europe, we would meet in court! I sent an email to the hotel with this information but in no way did the Hotel solve this situation. At this point, the Hotel does not reply to emails (I had contact with Andrew). I do not recommend this hotel, let alone the SPA.

This hotel is ok but it doesn't feel like a 4 star. It is a renovated old building with thin walls, so you can hear every door opening and closing on your floor, as well as the housekeepers' cell phone conversations. The rooms are small but comfortable. Nice pillows. To get hot water in the shower you need to run the water for at least five minutes. There is no fitness room which is generally found at other 4-star hotels. They do have a spa. While getting a 60-minute massage I asked to extend to 90 minutes. They agreed, then 10 minutes later the manager came in, turned on the lights and pressured me to sign for the additional charge! Ridiculous! Location is good near a street full of eateries. Easy to catch a taxi and the concierge will negotiate which is helpful. Breakfast buffet is adequate but could improve their coffee.

Located on the busy city of yagoon the place is a ideal to stay, Rooms- very nice neat and clean , they provide electric kettle and free toiletries with 2 water bottles Staff- friendly n helpfull Food- they offer lavish breakfast options in buffet Location - 5 mins walk from 19th Street which is popular for barbecue and right next to 24*7 store, walking distance from junction square

Good location, quiet and clean rooms, although I agree with other reviews that lobby/corridor music is played until about 10pm for absolutely no reason, which is my only complaint. We booked early and paid £40 for a room incl breakfast. Easy walking distance to Chinatown and central Yangon

First day, at the lobby the staff was very friendly and serve me drink and always smiling and cheerful. I booked few nights at this hotel, and on my birthday, the staff called me and came to my room, surprise me with a birthday cake! Its free. And on my last day, during my breakfast the staff chat with me abit and offer me can check out late like 2pm, without any cost. Customer service very good!

I was really expecting to be able to write a better review for the Best Western China Town after reading all the great reviews bu I was a little disappointed. ( My own doing and lack of information) Nicely located in China town, very close to 19th street where I like to eat out on street food most nights. Short taxi ride to the Shwedagon Pagoda (info: pay no more than 2,500 kyats) My background is Director of Engineering for Accor Hotels and currently Head of Engineering and Maintenance for a large owning company in Dubai (including hotels) Pros: The property and location were exactly as one would expect from a hotel in Yangon. The staff were the epitome of friendliness and service levels that have me returning to Myanmar time after time. Room 605 was well presented and laid out as expected from a 4*, no issues immediately apparent - sorry I can't leave my work at home :-( so well done to all. Cons: First thing I noticed was that although the tea/coffee station was present: power was not so it had to be moved to the writing table. No big issue but something for management to think about. View and the reason for "My own doing and lack of information" in my opening statement was of a very dirty and smelly back ally. My own doing because I accepted the cheapest rate and lack of information because when I requested information from the hotel regarding the 'room with a view' - it was not given. Honestly, I would have paid the extra had I known what the view was. Breakfast was a let down considering the below reviews and expectations because of them. A simple traveler needing no more than bacon and eggs but even this seemed to be a difficult request. First morning (due to jet lag) I arrived in the restaurant at 09:30 (closes at 10:00) A large and very clean restaurant I must say but no more than 6 or 8 guests. I approached the egg station and requested two fried eggs whilst I placed two slices of bread on the belt toaster: warm bread came out and still no eggs. No issue, it happens so I adjusted the belt speed and popped the bread back in: out comes the toast, still no eggs and no butter, "sorry Sir, it's finished" was the answer I received. Still no eggs and the 'chef" is now making an omelette so I look for the bacon - "sorry Sir, it's finished". So now I have cold toast, no eggs and no bacon :-( I asked for butter and bacon which eventually came but the bacon tasted old and had the texture of cardboard, eggs were brought to my table which were received with a curt response of " any chance the chef could actually cook them" (sorry I was rude) they were virtually raw! Anyway, I could go on and on but the bottom line is that I hope the 'new chef' gets old fast and I should remember to set the alarm and get in for breakfast early. I had breakfast elsewhere for the duration. All in all I would return to The best western China Town but please be advised: buy water from the little shop just to the right of the main entrance as you exit the hotel as it is a fraction of the cost that room service charges, and arrange your own hotel transfer as this is where they really dropped the ball: Airport shuttle/taxi: They don't have a direct hotel shuttle but they can get you a taxi AT 47,000 Kyat!! Be advised that my inward journey cost me 10,000 kyat and outward by taxi from outside the door AED 15,000 kyat (extra 5,000 because it was midnight): Guys.. there is commission and OMG! so forget the OMG and take an acceptable commission.

Well located at the edge of Chinatown in downtown Yangon, which is busy, chaotic and relatively noisy. The staff are all welcoming and helpful, with free cold refreshing drinks in the lobby. The concierge even helped me out with making sure my longyi stayed tied up - much appreciated. It only has one small main elevator, which you have to climb a number of stairs off the lobby to get to, which means you generally have to wait and if there's others & their luggage you will definitely have to wait. We stayed there on two occasions and both rooms had great views to the Swedagon Pagoda. The room was clean and well maintained, though the decor over styled (could have better if it was in a lighter colour). Couldn't fault the comfy beds, the air conditioning worked, had room safe and bar fridge. Both rooms we used had clean well laid out bathrooms, with a bath. At night you can regularly hear the car horns on the street, which may be a problem if you are a light sleeper, though they do provide complimentary ear plugs. Breakfast is included in the price whilst the range at the buffet is not that extensive it includes a choice of Western, Chinese, Indian and local dishes - so you should be able to find something that appeals to your taste. Nice views over the busy streets outside. The diner menu is fairly pedestrian and a little bit pricey - you are better off venturing out and trying one of the nearby local restaurants or BBQ street stalls on 19th Street. The hotel is within walking distance of Bogyoke (Scott's) Market & Junction City Mall. The wifi was strong in both rooms we had, as well as the restaurant. They even provided us with breakfast boxes to go when we had an early morning flight. Needless to say we felt well looked after both times we stayed there.

Room is big n comfy. Love the pillows, the bath tub, the window view of the Shwedagon pagoda, friendly staff, nice massage at Orchid Spa & massage. Walking distance to street food, bar n shopping . Overall nice .

Front office mgr and staff were excellence. Went all out of his duties in helping. The cafe food was good with good spread and chance I'd daily bf menu. F&B even went forward to arrange for Asian food not in th menu. Great stay for 3 weeks.

Front desk and restaurant staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Got a great room. Only issue was flakey WiFi. Worked better if I opened the room door. On the first night went down to reception they did something and WiFi was great. Second night called the front desk said they did something but no change. I was here on a work trip and had to make calls using an IP phone, just did not work due to poor WiFi. Was OK if I sat in lobby or restaurant. Did have s great massage at a good price in the Oasis Spa.

The Best Western Chinatown Yangon is an excellent hotel with a staff that really makes you feel at home. Comfortable, absolutely clean (and mosquito free!) rooms, nice bathrooms with perfectly working showers and AC. A delicious breakfast is served by a very nice and highly motivated team in a nice ambiente with a lot of windows on the 4th floor. Roomservice is fast and tasty. Also the laundry service works very well. During my two stays for in total two weeks the great teams of the housekeeping manager Mr Myo and the front desk manager Mr Andrew provided an really outstanding support (5 stars +). In the busy heart of Yangon a true oasis to relax! Many thanks for a great stay!

We stayed two nights in this midrange hotel – which is classified as a 4 star hotel, but – from our point of view – has trouble to even get close to 3 stars. The only two good things we can say: Convenient location and cheap price. Everything else was disappointing. The hotel is rather new, but the rooms interior feels like the 1970‘s: dark brown and greenish colours, cheap carpet, low-quality bathroom etc. The hotel is located on the corner of two very busy streets – constant noise due to poor quality windows (… but hooray: a pair of earplugs is already provided in your room)! Even more noise is provided by the in-room fridge… yikes! The breakfast offers a huge choice, however, the quality was disappointing and by far the worst we have experienced during our two weeks in Myanmar. The staff is friendly and polite, however, not very helpful – not sure if because of the lack of English language skills or because they are missing some important information and facts that tourists need (train times, flight check-in procedures, restaurant recommendations etc.). At some point, we just gave up asking questions. To sum it up: If you need a cheap and clean place to sleep (with great aircon and internet – but potential longer waiting times at the elevator as there is only one for a total of 14 floors), go for it. If you really want to enjoy your stay and might need some more assistance, rather look somewhere else.

I stayed 3 nights in BestWestern in Chinatown of Yangon. The hotel is nice and staff members are friendly and polite. The hotel is close to several monuments, but it is better to get taxi even to go to National museum or Sule paya because the chaos of people, street food sellers and rubbish is avoided like that. Breakfast variety caters for several tastes. Just avoid rooms on the back part close to airconditioning ventilators. They are noisy at night. The manager upgraded me to a quiter and bigger room for no extra charge for the last 2 nights after complaining about the noisy room I had on the first. If you are not noise sensitive like me, then you should not take into account the above concerns.

Breakfast is excellent with a wide range of food from local (Mohiga is very good) to Japanese to international choice of food. The service at Eastern Orchid cafe is very attentive and helpful. We had dinner with our relatives on our last night and it was superb and very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay at this hotel as the location is great, nearby to junction city shopping mall and Strand Road. Thanks so much for the good experience.

A good location, an helpfull and friendly staff (sometimes "overdoing it," but that's all right) a room spotlessly clean -check the shower faucets though.. ;-), and a room eith a view, functional and quiet. Great bkfst with numerous Burmese dishes, fresh ginger tea (says a lot about the customers' service) and other cold cuts. AND. the place did not stink like Bacon&Eggs.. Thank you! A quick note: when heading back to the airport, do grab a taxi off the street and negociate direcyly with him.

We only stayed at this hotel for one night thank goodness. Other reviews did not prepare me for the amount of noise - it is so bad, the hotel provides earplugs!!!! However, even with these in, I could not get any sleep. Also, the shower didn't run hot so we ended up having cold showers which we were told after, we had to notify reception so they could adjust the pressure or something! Very odd thing to do. Also, the bathroom layout was strange - glass door into the toilet which was in the bathroom and which made it tight to get into and a window between the bathroom and bedroom!! Decor is a bit strange and dated too. Best Western need to revamp this hotel and put proper double glazing in, as they are letting their staff down - the highlight of the hotel. The staff are very helpful and courteous and breakfast was very good too with a varied selection. However, this is not enough to make me want to stay here again.

I have the pleasure of staying here for 4 days 3 nights and it doesnt disappoint. The staffs were helpful, the room was in great shape (Relatively) , The help desk were 100% effort. The plus thing for me is the breakfast food that came with the room, everything is made fresh and really boasts value for money.

Excellent location, friendly staff, excellent breakfast, The location is in the Chinese part of the city and is a bit noisy, but the location is a great advantage overall.We recommend tasting great Myanmar wines at the hotel restaurant. The quality of local wines was very surprised.

When I first got here I was apprehensive. Hotel turned out to be great. The staff could not be any nicer. The breakfast buffet is wonderful for Americans as well as Asians. They have massage on site at reasonable prices. One night my family and I went into the restaurant just for drinks and they were extremely accommodating. This hotel is very comfortable, clean with excellent service. Taxi to anywhere 2.00 to 5.00 US. Location is right next to 17th street food market and 3 blocks from 19th street bbq.

Book direct as you can earn points for your Best Western membership, same rate as what Agoda or Booking.com offer. When I checked in, I was given a superior room which was what I booked and the room itself was the smallest that I've ever seen at 19sqm (I have stayed before at 15sqm room but does not felt cramp since it was having better layout). I bet it must be due to the design, the aircond was just hitting your face when you are on the bed. I called reception and asked for bigger room and was offered an Executive room for an additional USD15 which was huge difference! The room comes with beautiful direct view of Shwedagon and I could not stop staring at it day and night! Bathroom also have bathtub and everything was so spacious. The only bad thing is the window is not soundproof and you could hear vehicle noise even when you are 12 storey from the main street!

We arrived at this hotel in the evening and it was good to find in the hall free orange juice. The breakfast was included and it was quite good. The room was comfortable. Via the hotel we organised the transfer from the hotel to the airport. Maybe a little expensive but we saved some time discussing about the price with the taxi driver.

I chose this time the superior room (50 US$) but got a well furnished room of barely 3 x 4 meters. I could hardly move in this room. For its price it seems normal but if some comfort is aimed at, better to chose something better, say in the neighbourhood of 90-95 USD/night. The room I had was blowing its freezing A/C air when sleeping, straight into your face. Staff remains extremely friendly. Breakfast is one of the best I ever saw in SE-Asia. Great variety and delicious items. Restaurant is flat-food but edible. Wine was "old" but waiters immediately replaced by a new fresh bottle! Their friendliness and helpfulness is unmatched. You can ask them about everything! I certainly will come back!

Stayed here for a three nights during my trip. Overall, it's good value for money. The breakfast spread is reasonable. The staff wonderful and always keen to help. Rooms through are a little small, hence the one star less. I have stayed in much larger rooms during my trip for a little lesser cost.

For a hotel that claims itself to be high and warm on customer service, which I have for the past five stays since 2016 given it very high score, this time round I have to vote it down and blacklist it for my future stays in Yangon. While the location is still considered a plus, the rather rigidity in charging customer for extra regardless of the size of the room/bed simply because each room is supposedly only meant for two or less is a rude stock to me. This time round, I have purposely book a large room – junior suite rather than the standard twin room because two of my family members were joining me but the counter staff including the manager on duty insisted that notwithstanding the type of rooms, all rooms are only meant for two and the 3rd person must be paying extra – this is notwithstanding the fact that I did not ask for an extra bed and that I am not asking for breakfast for the extra person as I usually do not eat in hotel and this time round the same, only once because it was pouring outside. It is not the extra dollars that really upset me but the way the message was put across that goes to show that the management is only interested sticking to policy and disregarded the need to exercise a little bit of flexibility and understand the need and desire of the clients. It is okay to charge extra if the client demand extra bed, extra towel, extra bottle of water, extra breakfast etc. But since I am forced to pay for extra bed, I accepted it and it actually reduced the walking space within the room. I do not know if junior suites are less occupied but the housekeeping was not entirely “fresh” at least the first night the towels look like they have been there for days. Hot water supply was also much delayed. Almost five minutes before warm water comes out and hot water after 10 minutes more… Being already upset, the malfunctioning of the aircon leading to water leaking and wet my bag below was the last straw. And it is time to move on finding the alternative if I were to travel to Yangon again. I think it is entirely possible to find another more value for money hotel – perhaps United Chinatown or United Downtown, both of them are around 20th and 22 Streets. And further down closer to the heart of Downtown area, Glover which I have actually wanted to try out this time, but last minute decided to stick with BWC for royalty seek. But BWC will lose this royal client for good.

Room is just OK. You can still hear the noise from the road or outside. The shower equipment is not very good, and it should be improved. the hotel's staffs are very nice. the Breakfast is also very good. Lots of fruits.

For a hotel of its category, there is little to criticize for this hotel. It is fairly centrally localized, has excellent service, quiet, good breakfasts. When we first arrived at the hotel, we were offered a welcoming drink. As you enter the lobby, there was always a pitcher of a delicious chilled fruit juice waiting with a set of glasses (very much appreciated after coming back from the hot, humid outside). Hotel personnel were very gracious. Within minutes of settling into our room, somebody came with a tall bottle of chilled water to put into our refrigerator (the room-temperature water bottles in our room were apparently not sufficient). The buffet breakfasts were above average, with both Western breakfast items as well as local Burmese specialty items. Excellent value -- we paid around USD55/night for a double room. Good WiFi. One deficiency: There is only a single elevador for guests. At peak times, such as in the morning when everyone at once wishes to go to the forth floor for breakfasts, there is a long waiting time for the elevador to arrive at your floor (guests were resorting to taking the stairs).

Four of us from the Philippines who are travel agents explored this golden land of Myanmar for the first time to promote other destination and choosing Yangon was an excellent choice. Best Western has a very good location, value for money especially the buffet breakfast are extraordinary because they serve menu different food everyday. The FB Manager warmly welcomed us with our own dialect. All the people are very accommodating. I highly recommended it's service, cleanliness of the room and it's scented environment from the lobby to our room.

Room was clean, spacious & the bed is comfy. Suitable for business trip. Internet is stable. Grab & Go convenience store is just next door. The staff are all very helpful & prompt. Breakfast was good. The only downside was there was no hot water for shower early in the morning

This hotel is very good. It especially deserves high marks for the customer service. No matter where we were in the hotel, from the front desk to the spa, we were attended to with professional courtesy. And the breakfast buffet, damn it's good! It boasts a variety of cuisine from local Myanmar food, to American favorites like plain Cocoa Puffs and waffles. The variety was excellent, and my girlfriend and I agreed that this was the best feature of the hotel. I did have to mark it down for the room though. We had some trouble with the toilet, let's just say...it wasn't doing its job properly and I routinely had remove the lid myself to get it flush and refill properly. And we were in one of the suites, so I can imagine what some of the smaller rooms were like. We of course called the front desk for them to fix the toilet, but they didn't fix it until hours later, when they arrived to clean the room anyway. I dealt with a lot of shi**y toilets (excuse the pun) when I was a kid, so I decided to fix it myself every time it wasn't working after that. Additionally, some of the panels of the wall near the window randomly fell off, at one point. I don't know how the hell it happened but it just did. Finally, there was constant car horns honking at all hours of the day (yes even at 4AM in the morning). This didn't bother us too much, because we knew that it was downtown and we would have to deal with noise, but if you like quiet, then you should probably stay somewhere else. In my opinion these were minor complaints for an overall comfortable and highly affordable hotel in the middle of Myanmar's largest city. I recommend it for anyone visiting.

Efficient check-in procedure - very good price-value-ratio - many stairs before you reach the elevator - watch: only 1 elevator! = very long waiting for it - good sized and spaceous rooms - top attentive and very friendly staff - nice restaurant with many specials - very good food quality - many Chinese and Thai guests with typically "bossy" habits - central location in "old town" - if you like to be more in the modern area closer to "Schwedagon Pagoda" you should change location - excellent laundry service - excellent room service - very much recommendable!

Located on the busy street of chinatown. Read some reviews that very noisy at night, but our experience is quite good. Street food all around, wet market basically surround the hotel, Junction Centre and Junction Mall is within walking distance. Room is spacious, good pressure shower, bath tub and kings size comfy bed.

Nice location & clean room with warm hospitality. The view from the room is fantastic with the Shwedagon Pagoda. And, All the staff is kind with smile. Definitely, I'll stay again for next visit to Yangon.

I stayed 1 night with my family. I booked Exclusive room with bathtub because I like to relaxing after went out of the day. But the issue was the hot water is not hot enough it just only warm. When you fill the water to the bath tup it is take time to fill and than water will getting cold. That make me annoyed. Otherwise is good with Best western standard. I can see the Shewedagon pagoda from the room. The hotel location it was good near the main road easy to find the Grab or Taxi but that mean it is very noisy all the time from the traffic even the night. The room was included breakfast. I enjoyed very much with their buffet. I love tradition food from the buffet is was very nice and the staff very well trained and helpfully. They always polite and smile.

The hotel staff was so nice and their support was so good specially Mr Min Naing (bell man). He can talk english and malay very well.The housekeeping team was so helpfull whenever needed.The food was good. The hotel was so convenient to every location.

I stayed 1 night with my friend. We like location in China Town because of can walked from hotel to BBQ street easy at night. Room is good and Breakfast good too. Staff very nice. I will be back again if come to Yangon.

Quality was what you expect from a Best Western hotel. The open buffet breakfast was a really enjoyable experience. What I would like to highlight is the service provided by staff and managers, always ready to help with anything you need, including wrong booking (ups), extra night, flight ticket, taxis, change of room in front of a little problem we had one of the nights, etc. Always with pacience and a smile. Thank you. If you can, book one of the more expensive rooms with views to Shwedagon Pagoda.

Small hotel in the midst of Chinatown. The hotel overlooks a local hospital. Not a modern area. Very local as there are streets of local vendors selling all stuff. This is a taller building in this area. Service is good as they will run out with an umbrella when you are getting off the taxi when it rains. Very attentive staff. The room is clean and decent. I will rate it 3 star based on my standards. It has a good city view and from the room on 12 floor we could see the swedagon pagoda. It looks dashing at night. The best part is the room service. As it was raining most evenings, we ate via room service. Food very reasonably priced $4 to$7 so very good deal. Even the minibar has very good rate. The hotel is the only hotel we knew that does not have overly priced minibar. One bottle of 1 litre water is just 50cents. In most hotels $2 to $5 dollar. I truly think mgt got it right. Room is reasonably priced. Comes with buffet breakfast. Good spread of food. Not too much but acceptable. Coffee machine and egg station are great! I had porridge with condiments daily as i was not feeling well prior to the trip. Service staff are excellent, both front desk and food and beverage. Only suggestion is during room service, the crockeries used need to be smaller plates as the soup gets cold fast if placed in a big plate. Also hard to put on tray for transport. Also no space on the coffee table. So we suggest smaller crockeries so the portion looks more. Every night we ordered 3 dishes plus rice but unable to put on table. Room service trolley needs fixing. The wheels came off. Felt sorry for the service staff. Room is clean with basic amenities. Nothing to complain. It is an old hotel but it is a good hotel. Do not expect grand entrance. Just small lobby but very competent staff. Nextbp to the hotel, there are 2 convenient stores. You can get some snacks if you want. The hotel is besides 17 street . If you go to 19th street, there are many local restaurants selling bbq seafood. As it us wet most days, walking these streets may seem depressing. Do wear protective shoes or boots if you visit during monsoon season. The good thing about visiting during low peak period is there are no traffic jams, no queue, etc so it is peaceful. If you like noisy, crowded or long q then visit during peak season. Other than daily rain, we have nothing to complain about visting during this time. As the hotel is located on a main riad, you can hear the traffic. So you are light sleeper, yiu will need ear plugs, they do offer these. We are not affected at all.

I've just stay for 3 nights in this hotel.I was very pleased to stay as business traveller . The staffs are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic, wide arranged.This's my second time.The room was very comfortable and clean.I had to go to my company in early morning becox of yangon traffic.Anyway, I love this hotel.I hope next time at this hotel.

Nice, clean room, helpful staff. Room cleaned everyday. Breakfast very good. The location was excellent for me - walking distance to my work, although the area is a bit crowded. Many eating places nearby. Check in time is 2:00 pm, but I arrived at the hotel at 11:00 am. As a room was readily available, they checked me in at 11:00 am without an extra charge. That was nice. The desk lamp was very useful for my work. The room is well lighted. And, plenty of universal power sockets in the room, something hotels in western countries cannot even think of. Especially, in the UK and the USA, hotels have sockets of those countries only. Mine was single room. Instead of two single beds, it would be good if they remove one bed and, instead, put up a single sofa and a small coffee table. Overall, I had a good experience in this hotel, and a good stay.

I arrived at Yangon very late in the night because of my flight. The employee at check in assigned me a room. I double checked with him to make sure that I was given a non smoking room, but when I got to the room, it very clearly smelled of cigarettes. I requested another room, but this room didn't have AC that worked. So, I had to wait for 20-30 minutes at 2am while the AC was being fixed in the room because apparently every single other room was taken. I would suggest staying elsewhere.

I stayed this hotel 5 days n recommended by Singapore foot massage shop,indeed the superior room is clean,value for money but slightly small. I like the breakfast at 4 floor n try all the coffee with all the polite n good service staffs. Location is in central Yangon, I take a walk to Yaw Min Gyi (Boyar Nyunt Street) 10-15min or grab ($1700 kyats) for my meal,beers n wine,there's lot of Pubs,restaurants n massage,my flavours mala xiangguo,jap cuisine n body/foot massage (Singapore style) with free face mask n ginger foot bath,worth a try. Feel relax in a warm small town,so all good for money,hv a blessed stay in Yangon.

We stay here for 4nights. View from hotel was nice and Room hotel very comfortable, near by chinatown and night market. Staff was very friendly.. all over this hotel was great, unless fried rice in breakfast buffet so lousy.

I have stayed in this hotel 3 times, since 2017 and on different floor each time, the quality of the service has been consistent. But the hotel needs to watch out for its housekeeping maintenance inspection as this time round the shower in the bathroom lacks and should have been noticed by the daily room service crew. Notwithstanding this, as soon as I registered the issue with the front desk in the evening, the repair was done in the following day before I returned to the hotel in the early afternoon. Apart from this, I must say this hotel is probably still most value for money, given its rather central location at 17th Street, between Chinatown (up from 9th street) and the Downtown areas (up to 32st street) where lots of good food venues such as the Rangoon Tea House and Golden Duck Restaurant are located.

It was my returned trip to Myanmar (from last first trip in March 2016) and and made 2 nights stay here on a business trip. The price is quite reasonable compare to other 4 star hotel in downtown. + Hotel's location is perfect in China Town. + Breakfast is simple, yet practical amongst other hotels in the area. + Nice staff with good suggestion. They can bargain for you the taxi fare and suggested good places for dinner. -wifi is not that great (but far better than average in yangon) -Rooms not with double grazed window (noisy in the morning from car engine or horn). If you are a light sleeper, you could find yourself in a much trouble. All in all a good choice with some disadvantages!

The room we had was excellent value for money. Spent 3 nights here. The Service we had was excellent, starting with the Front desk ladies and especially the Duty Manager Mr Huin Mgint Kyaw ( Hope we are getting the spelling correct?) and the Service Room attendant Mr Soe Nyein. They also helped us with sightseeing ideas and restaurants. so we could enjoy our trip

lovely hotel in the heart of China town We upgraded to a junior suit and it was well worth it also we had a view of the pagoda. hotel is great value for money,clean and the breakfast buffet is good. We also used the restaurant a few nights and the food was very good. staff were very nice and very helpful would use this hotel again .

We only stayed here for one night, following our return from Ngapali. We took a taxi from the airport, but as the hotel is situated on a busy main road, the taxi had to drop us off in the middle of the traffic. Luckily the doormen saw us with our luggage and came to our aid. Our room was fine - everything you need. Not huge, but as we were only staying one night that wasn't a problem. Reception staff were extremely helpful. We had a few drinks at the Eastern Orchid Cafe - again staff were very nice and helpful and prices were reasonable, particularly during Happy Hour! We left for our flight before breakfast, but were given take away boxes. All in all, a short but enjoyable stay.

Overall is a hotel that highly recommended. Clean and tidy, good quality of the bed, good location, extremely friendly and helpful stuff and the breakfast is good too. I love the hair dryer which is Panasonic one, so not like other hotels provided lousy hair dryer.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Best Western Chinatown. Below are the few points me and my friend Henry wish to highlight: 01) From Check-In to Check-Out, we had a very pleasant and courteous treatment from your employees from Front Office staffs to Bell Hop to Security Guards. 02) Special mention goes to Ms Phyu Phyu, Mr. Htun Myint Kyaw and Mr. Thant Zin Tun for their Professionalism, Courtesy and Patience when we approached them for assistance. 03) We even had a "Free Upgrade" to King-Size beds on our 2nd night onwards when we said the rooms are a little too small. 04) The breakfast spread was sufficient but could have more choice. Some minors discrepancies to highlight: 01) Bathroom not enough "Hooks" to hang our towels, clothes, etc. 02) Only one lift to serve all customers. Overall Comment: Wonderful & Enjoyable stay at your hotel with so many "PLUS" points and your good services will put many hotels to SHAME !!! This hotel is downtown and so close to many useful places (although far removed from many professional organisations). Yet it is very quiet and clean which is refreshing. The staff are helpful and friendly and the food (buffet breakfast and dinner) were exceptional!

We did not check in until 10:00pm , the reception staff were so friendly . I for got to ask which floor I was on , so I took the stairs , bet to take the lift nearly killed me . I had a Junior suite which was clean and nice for my Trip. The room had a bath plenty of hot water. Had views across the city with was good. The room was a good size .There was no noise from outside , so I had a good nights sleep.The hotel is in a good location in the city. I do smoke but the only place I could find to smoke was outside of the front of hotel on the street . But good to see how busy the market was in morning . Breakfast was ok but no hot chocolate with breakfast . I do not drink tea or coffee. I found where ever you went in the hotel the staff were friendly . Marks out of 10 -7 . A conveniently positioned small hotel located in the Chinatown district. Overall a good place for a few days stay. The basics were fine in that the room was clean and the air conditioning worked well, the bathroom and shower were modern and clean and the breakfast was very good. So all in all good value for money. If you want more from a hotel it might be a bit lacking. My room was quiet, but the downside was that it had no window (only a fire escape with absolutely no view). I am told other rooms had good views but were noisy. The most annoying aspect was the elevator which was very slow at peak times (so slow that I used the stairs on most occasions). The WiFi worked well. It also had a television but I didn't turn it on. So overall a good base in the centre of Yangon within walking distance of many attractions, but dont expect top end facilities.

My friend recommended this hotel as it was located in the central areas of Yangon (the Chinatown market was a bit busy and not very clean but ok to walk through) close by all the tourist attractions that we wanted to visit (only a few minutes walk to the Junction city departmentstore and Bogyoke Aung San market (Scott market), not very far from Shwedagon pagoda etc Our Superior room was in a good size, large bathroom and clean.The breakfast room was nice, good selection on buffet breakfast and reasonable quality. One morning of our stay, we told staffs that we had to leave early so they prepared take away breakfast for us to eat in the car. All staffs here were very helpful and will assist you when you need taxi or directions or travel tips, please do ask them. We had very nice stay and would recommend our friends too.

on my recent trip to Myanmar, I stayed Best Western Chinatown. A small hotel located in Chinatown as the name suggest. The lobby was small, the front office service was friendly and my registration was handled quickly. The first challenge my friends and I experienced was the elevator, there is only one in the whole hotel and one has to be patient to wait your turn. We were booked into the deluxe room of the hotel and I was very surprise, the room was large and comfortable with separate shower and bathtub. the room was well appointed. One little challenge was street noise, one can hear vehicle noise from time to time. WIFI in the room worked well and TV had enough English programs to watch. Breakfast in the hotel was good for a small hotel and had a good spread.

We chose the Best Western Chinatown Hotel for our first 3 nights in Yangon as we wanted somewhere central but modern and reliable to stay upon our late arrival/first days with jetlag after our long trip. As soon as we arrived my partner realised he had left his Debit card inside the airport ATM, and the staff went out of their way trying to call the Bank and airport to see if anyone had found the card and returned it. The service was great for the rest of our stay, with the gentlemen working at the door asking if we needed taxis to be called, and going out to locate our Grab taxis so we wouldn't have to wait outside in the heat. The girls at reception were also great, and booked us a reliable, English-speaking driver for a day trip to Bago. The location is quite good, a short taxi ride to most of the Downtown sites, we did the Free Yangon Walk on our first day to get an idea of the lay of the land and that was great, but most areas apart from Chinatown and Bogyoke Aung San Market will require a taxi ride as they will be more than 30 min walk from the hotel. We didn't find any restaurants that we liked nearby, but we ate a lot in the Downtown area, and as the Grab taxis cost about 1-4 USD at most, we found it a great way to move around (you can get a taxi from the street of course, but the benefits of Grab are that the drivers speak at least some basic English, cars usually have air-con, and you know that you're not being conned either with the price or going all around the city just to charge you more). The room looked very luxurious (even bathrobes were provided in the wardrobe) and it was on one of the top floors and double-glazed so we slept very soundly. The bed and pillows were the best we had in Myanmar probably, and we didn't find any mosquitoes in the room (although there were a few in Reception and in the lift). There was a great selection at breakfast, with eggs (omelette, scrambled or fried) made to order, as well as pancakes, Burmese noodles and many other options, cakes, croissants, bread, OK coffee, juices, yogurts etc. that kept us full till later in the day. The breakfast/restaurant area also had a nice view over the street and busy raised crossing surrounded with old quaint blocks of flats. Overall a great option for a central stay in Yangon, we generally avoid chain hotels in our travels, but we're glad we chose the Best Western Chinatown this time, as it was just the type of hotel to help us acclimatise in the heat and bustle of Yangon during our first days. Air-con: Yes, and placed in such a way it doesn't hit the bed (quite a rarity in hotel rooms!) Fridge: Yes Safe deposit box: Yes Hairdryer: Yes Free Wi-Fi: Yes Toiletries: Shampoo, shower gel, body wash, handsoap, cutips, sewing kit, comb, etc. Towels: Hand, head, body and 2 foot/floor towels Breakfast included: Yes, very good selection with omelette/pancake station Walkable distance from city center: Yes, 15 min to Bogyoke Aung San Market, a few min to Chinatown's 19th st street food stalls Bedside tables & reading lights: On both sides, as well as electricity sockets Luggage racks: One, and a desk where you can put another suitcase Freebies: 2 x 500ml bottles of purified water per day

I stayed for about 2 weeks. Very good customer service. rooms are clean. included breakfast buffet which was a plus. i stayed in a room with 2 twin beds. the beds were comfy and clean. the ac blows cold air which i used all day since the summer in yangon was hot. will come back again.

The location is supposed to be central to Yangon, but the surroundings are far from salubrious. The locale is quite seedy and downcast in what is otherwise the most Westernized city in Myanmar as it emerges into the modern century. Once inside, the negative vibes about the downmarket "Chinatown" precinct vanish. Service is professional and friendly, if not warm, the lift (singular) works, the room is clean and comfortable, not crowded but not capacious. The restaurant is well above average for Myanmar hotels. The location is walking distance from major attractions (although the Aung San market was closed for a holiday during my visit).

Stayed there from 10-15 April 2018. I must say their service is top class. Booked Junior Suite for 3 days and 2 days in Executive Room . The hotel upgraded my last 2 days to Junior Suite with no extra charges. The Manager was very accommodating. All the hotel staff was attentive and friendly. Breakfast was good. I strongly recommend this hotel.

WARNING TO ALL TRAVELERS - I'm giving this hotel such a low rating due to theft of our properties. My wife and I were really excited to take our first trip together to visit her birth country of Myanmar with her parents, sister in-law and her fiancé and my parents. I decided to go with the Best Western Chinatown Hotel in Yangon because of its convenient location and a modest price for a reputable US company that I can trust (well so I thought). Our stay here at the Best Western Chinatown started off well. The double rooms were small but cozy. And since we're only in the rooms to sleep, it was big enough for us. In our first morning there, we decided to give the hotel's complimentary breakfast a try. The breakfast was fantastic. The hotel offers quite a delicious assortment of both Burmese and Western cuisine. In fact, I was happily telling my mom how good of a deal it was to get such a well-priced and centrally located hotel that offers delectable complimentary breakfast. After breakfast, we decided to join in on the fun of the Water Festival (aka Burmese New Year) that was happening all over Yangon but it was especially lively outside of our hotel. Everyone in my party had a great time. After cleaning ourselves off a bit in the room, we then proceeded on with our city tour of Yangon. I had brought an action cam with a Feiyu 3 axis gimbal stabilizer. I decided to not bring it with us for the city tour because I didn't want the equipment to get wet as we made our way around the festivities in the city. After a whole day of touring, we decided to go back to the hotel to clean up and rest before going to see the sunset at the Shwedagon Pagoda and dinner somewhere nearby there. I decided to bring my action cam with us since the water pouring festivities were dying down. This is where things went south. My wife and I searched all over our tiny no more than 200 sq ft room and could not find out action cam and gimbal that I had left on the bed before we went out earlier. We searched thoroughly through all of our luggage, closet, drawers and room safe and our action cam and gimbal were nowhere to be found. My parents even helped us look through and through and it was confirmed that someone had taken our action cam and gimbal that were left out on our bed because we didn't think that anyone in the hotel would take it. We then went downstairs to complain to the front desk staff and demanded to see the CCTV footage for the duration of the time when we were out of the room. The CCTV recording from the camera that they showed us was really dark and very difficult to see anyone coming in or out of room 912 (the room that we stayed in). After fast forwarding through hours of footage for about 40 minutes, we determined that it was a waste of time and we would not be able to see anything from the one and only camera that had a direct view of our room door. At about 6:45 that evening, we had about all but given up on finding the thief using a CCTV recording that showed nothing but darkness. So then we asked to speak to the hotel manager. We were quite frustrated at that time already as our evening plans were already ruined. We demanded that he open up a full investigation and remedy this issue. Since it was too late to see the Shwedagon Pagoda and have dinner too, we decided to find a delicious restaurant to eat. Hopefully making our bellies happy would make our moods better. After dinner, we returned to the hotel to pack up for our morning flight next day to Bagan. As we entered to hotel, the staff informed us that they have the CCTV video for those hours when we were out of the room. We then proceeded with viewing the video. My sister in-law and her fiancé decided to go to our room to check once more to see if it might've magically reappeared after we complained and asked the hotel manager to open up a full investigation. And well what do you know our action cam and gimbal did in fact magically appeared on our bed (of which we had taken a nap on prior to leaving for dinner) underneath my wife's hat for which she had worn during our city tour for the whole day. At this point, it was a bitter sweet moment. Naturally I was happy that the hotel staff who five fingered our stuff has found a heart and decided to give it back to us. Or maybe they just didn't want a full criminal investigation. But whatever it is, we felt that the hotel manager was obligated to at least debrief us on what had transpired and that he would reassure that this awful experience won't happen to any other unsuspecting travelers who are visiting this beautiful country and its people. However, the hotel manager took zero responsibilities for the actions of his hotel staff and was quite belligerent to my wife and mother in-law. He went as far as having a loud verbal confrontation with my mother in-law in their native tongue right in the hotel lobby. I'm sure CCTV in the lobby can reflect this side of the story and more. This experience has made all eight of us lose our confidence in the Best Western brand of hotels. It clearly tells us that upper management does not do a good job vetting its employees to ensure that all guests of the hotel have a pleasant and safe experience when staying at the Best Western worldwide. At this point, we are so disgusted at the actions of a few ruining our whole perception of the Best Western Corporation as a whole. We do not feel safe staying another night at the hotel. Unfortunately we had already paid for one more night on Apr 24th, 2018 at this same exact location prior to returning to NY. We will have to figure out a way to cancel and get our money back. It is my biggest hope that this awful experience does not happen to any other unsuspecting travelers who trusts the Best Western brand. Best Western as a company must open up a full investigation and insure that it is safe once again to stay at the Best Western brand of hotels. I certainly hope that after reading this anecdote of horror, the Best Western hotel management would make an effort to rectify this situation. No one should ever pay to have this emotional and psychological trauma when they're supposed to be having a great time with their families on vacation.

BW Chinatown hotel is without any doubt the best hotel downtown Rangoon if you consider the price. Its two blocks from 19th street ("Barbecuestreet") and close to the Sula pagoda and the Scottmarked. Its just a couple of years old, very nice room and a very helpful and welcoming staff. The breakfast is fine and so is the restaurant. Stayed her for couple of times and always come back whenever I'm in Rangoon.

The hotel was good and better than I expected but this depends which room you get. We stayed twice in two different rooms. The executive room was average sized and reasonably spacious but the deluxe (cheapest) was extremely tiny. There wasn't even enough room to open a suitcase, even a carry on. It didn't have a proper window, just a small one with frosted glass so you couldn't see out, and it felt really claustrophobic. I've honestly never seen such a small hotel room except in Japan. I would never book that room again. We immediately paid for an upgrade, only $15 to change rooms which was well worth the small difference. The room was very clean, comfortable and nicely furnished and the bathroom was good. It did look a tiny bit tired in places and the style is a bit dated but no big deal. The room had all the amenities you'd expect from a higher category hotel other than the WiFi which was terrible. The service was excellent, staff were very helpful and very quick to respond to requests. Location - in the middle of a very busy and bustling area. You step out and are literally in the middle of a market as the whole street is full of stalls and sellers. This makes it very slow if you are trying to get somewhere quickly but fascinating if you enjoy exploring markets and street life. It is also not the cleanest and can be a bit whiffy. In the evening we didn't find any decent looking restaurants nearby, mainly street stalls, and needed to get a taxi to eat somewhere nice. From the hotel we walked to Sule Pagoda and got a grab to Shwedagon. The grab turned out to be an actual taxi but the advantage was there no discussion about price as it was already fixed by the app. From the airport you order a taxi from a counter in arrivals (inside at international terminal and outside at domestic) which has fixed fares. It was 8,000 on our first arrival but 12,000 during the new year festival. Best to use the counter or grab to avoid haggling with drivers who throng outside. We paid 8,000 from the hotel back to the airport which the hotel arranged but the driver tried to claim more with various excuses but we only paid him the 8,000 which he eventually accepted.

We only stayed for one night. The room was small but expected. On arrival bell boy was fantastic including reception staff. Brilliant restaurant and great location. The reception was kind enough to keep our luggage whilst we toured round Myanmar. Thank you for your kindness. Odette (UK) ??

It is a Nice room. We stayed here 2nights and have a great time. Even the room is small but I do not feel that was small. One thing about bathroom is the shower is a bit broken and sometime make a small splash to me. The restaurant is nice' I suggest to have dinner here

Located on the main road, it is convenient to get to other places, for food, massage, market etc.The free flow of juices all day at the reception area is nice for the hot weather. Service staff are all pleasant although the strong local accent might make it challenging to understand their English. The breakfast buffet spread is quite good. The only downside is that the hotel is served by one small lift for guests, and guests would have to factor in the waiting time, if in a rush to go up or down the hotel. Would certainly choose to stay here the next time.

Although our room was a little small we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were so friendly especially with our older son, they even gave him snacks for our trip when we left the hotel. The location in the heart of Chinatown was good and even though it was a little far you could still walk to the Shwedagon Pagoda. Breakfast was also very good.

Rooms are not the biggest that I've seen but they definitely give you that Burmese warmth and I felt comfortable during my stay there. Location was not the best but within walking distance to everything.

Great location, lovely clean comfy rooms. Very nice breakfast. The staff are very friendly and so accommodating. We were given a super early chk- In after an overnight bus journey ! We stayed here twice as we were super impressed after our first visit.

The hotel itself is not very big, but their services are excellent. The staff are all courteous, especially securities and bellboys. The breakfast is also really nice. Definitely worth the value. One thing that I would recommend is to upgrade the bathroom amenities with better shampoo and shower gel. Will return back next time visit Yangon.

I'm usually associating this chain with motel-like properties. However, the service, rooms and cleanliness was outstanding, especially in a 3rd world country. Only downside is that it's got no pool. You can go to the Shanghai-la though and use theirs for 15-25 USD per day.

This is a reasonable and centrally located hotel with lovely staff. A little claustrophobic with just one lift which can result in considerable waits. Good breakfast. High up rooms have great views of Schwedagon Paya. The 15 minute interesting walk through China town street traders to the Bogsake market is really worth it, but not for the faint hearted

First just to clear up a couple of questions...there are lots of ATMs around Yangon...including a bank of them when you clear customs at the airport. Best to grab some cash there. There is an official taxi service...just check with the information desk in the area before you go outside....that's where the official taxi booth is located. The info desk said it should cost 9,000 Kyat...the official taxi booth said 11,000...I told them what the info people said and they knocked it down to 10,000! Friendly and quick reception at the hotel. They offer free cold juice and water in the lobby. One elevator but surprisingly fast. Breakfast buffet was really good. WiFi really good as well...even streaming Netflix was perfect. I spoke with the assistant manager Htun right when we checked in about tours--as we only had 4 full days in Yangon. He arranged a day trip to the Golden Rock for I think about $130 U.S. (Bring some nice new U.S. money for things like this). Long day but great trip/site. Htun also set us up with a 3-hour walking tour of the old British area for $30...and booked us for the 2-hour cultural show and great buffet at the Karaweik Palace. The show is well worth seeing and excellent choice of food. The hotel will get you a taxi at any time. Just get the price from them to pay...and the price to offer from your destination back to the hotel. No meters. Right next door is a G&G convenience store for snacks, sodas and beer/liquor etc. Room service food was really good...especially the spaghetti! Mini bar has water and pop etc. at low prices and can be used as a fridge. Good satellite TV. Nearby is the new Junction City Mall with a KFC, Pizza Hut and coffee places, It's across the road from the Bogyoke Aung San Market. People in Yangon so friendly. Great city but without the chaos of India--although traffic can be bad. Incredible how it has ramped up for tourists so fast. Use the official government web site for the e-visa. Very fast process. Sounds like the hotel can set you up for visits to other cities around Myanmar.

Stayed for a night. Quite central to railway station, night market. Shwedagon Pagoda is only a mile north to the west gate. Super Pagoda is closer than that. Breakfast is amazing. Service is fantastic. People working here are genuine and nice to help! We had a nice view of Shwedagon from our room...

A nice hotel with great breakfast spread. The local delights are not same everyday. We had a nice executive room on high floor facing Shwedagon Pagoda. The room is spacious and clean with great view. However, it is not for light sleeper as you can hear honks even when it is late at night. Hotel with great location can walk to many places around the hotel

Good location downtown. Walking distance to Bogyoke Aung San Market and the adjacent mall. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. We had two different rooms in our two short stays. The deluxe room on 11th floor seemed a little tired. The larger studio we had on the 14th floor was great ($18 more per night).

Good price, great stay. Clean, there's a safe in the closet. Firm bed. Quiet at night. Good spread for breakfast buffet. Very friendly staff. Bathroom amenities are there. Prices of fridge items are reasonable too. Good for businessmen.

Location is quite interesting, in old part of the city, but not in a walking distance to Shwedagon. We choose the location on purpose to see this part of city but this neighborhood is not the most pleasant for a walk due to smells and dirty streets (lakes area is much better). Hotel offers great breakfast and comfortable beds, although rooms are quite small. We payed 62$ for a night which was reasonable price.

Stayed for 2 nights got an upgrade to executive room which was excellent. Comfortable bed great size of bathroom, very clean, tea and coffee, everything you need. Breakfast a good selection for every taste and very nice dining room. Staff are excellent arranging drivers or suggesting restaurants. There is plenty of street food all round the hotel and street 19 within walking distance where you can get BBQ food or a drink. Small convenience store next to hotel. So glad we chose here 5 stars in every department. All of Chinatown is busy busy and not the cleanest of areas.

Located in Chinatown. The hotel has everything you need Amenities, water, wifi, very good breakfast, good security personnel, comfortable and good bed Would strongly recommend. Breakfast is superb and sumptuous. Convenient shop just next to hotel. Morning night market is just right outside the hotel. 19 St night dining in Chinatown is only 5 mins walk.

Chinatown is the most interesting place to stay in Yangon and this hotel is perfect. Extremely clean and the house keeping was done very early in the morning which was very much appreciated. The room we had had a view of the Shwegadon Pagoda which was wonderful to look at in the night.A bathtub,great air con,super comfy bed and very fast room service.A nice buffet breakfast which was delicious and catered for all tastes.very friendly service staff.Highly recommended.

Arrived at the Best Western, Chinatown from the airport - journey took about 35 minutes. Easy check in and a welcome drink. Room was very large as was the bathroom - which had a shower and a bath. Room was very "bright" with lots of gold and silver coloured decoration. Breakfast was very good, with lots of hot food, fruit, cereals and decent coffee. Hotel was a good location and easy to walk to the local bars and restaurants. The porters were really helpful, assisting us with bags as well as getting cabs for us and even negotiating good rates for us.

Hotel location was great. Along the main street of Chinatown. Room was quite clean except hotel looks abit old. Breakfast spread was decent. In the morning just outside the hotel is the market and pretty crowded.

I travelled with 80 yrs. parents and check in process went wrong. We waited upon check in for hotel to discussed and talked among your team and it was from your not well organized rooms allocation as per booking details but you could not go extra mile to help guests and never show your empathy. If you travell with seniority persons. This hotel is really not recommend because there is a very high step between room and bathroom which allow guests to slip down and lead to serious accident at all times. Bell service was good FB service was good Quality of food - just OK / youget what you pay. Dont expect to much. (i read comments from many people said excellent breakfast but come and tast it by your own !!) Overall was Ok except duty manager and receptionists.

We stayed here for two nights and were very pleased with the locations, service, breakfast, and accommodations. I had them launder some clothing and it was returned promptly and in great condition. Breakfast was excellent with lots of variety. Location was very centralized and convenient.

Attentive staff from the moment your car stops in front of the hotel: the porter/ doorman - reception - all make you feel welcome (not only at first entrance but during your stay. We had a room at the back of the hotel - which did not have a view, but was very quiet. Rooms were large, bathroom as well - and bed was very comfortable. Minibar had very reasonable prices. Location very good - close to Chinatown and enough places to eat around. If I would return to Yangon - certainly would look at returning to the Best Western Chinatown!

We stayed twice at the Best Western which is very centrally located downtown, walking distance to Sule Pagoda and a lot of restaurants around. The rooms are well equipped, nice bathroom, comfortable bed and enough space to store your luggage. The breakfast is very good with a large choice of Asian food as well as eggs, cheese, cakes for the western taste. The members of the staff are very attentive and friedly. We would recommend the hotel to people who prefer a central location. If you are looking for a quiet surrounding you should choose another place.

Perfect Choice for a Fascinating Neighborhood If you want to stay in downtown Yangon among the shop houses, markets and next to Chinatown this is the right hotel. The rooms are pleasant, good wifi and plenty of hot water. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise for dinner and the breakfast buffet is excellent. Take a morning walk: turn right out of the front door and head down the first alley for an exciting market visit. There are fruits and vegetables, meat and fish, with lines of monks collecting alms. Walk or take a short taxi ride to: Sule Pagoda, the Circular Train and Bogyoke Aung San Market (Scott's market). In Myanmar you can use US dollars in many locations -- but the money has to be in perfect condition. The Best Western restaurant refused my $20 bill since, if you held it just right, you could see it had been folded in half previously. Aggravating, but not unusual for this country. They do accept credit cards.

We just spent 9 nights at the Best Western Chinatown Hotel and we enjoyed everything about it! Warm and welcoming efficient staff, excellent room service, great breakfast included in our daily rate, prime position for exploring the most interesting part of the city and to cap it off.. a magnificent view from our room of the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda! Excellent location in Chinatown. Near good food good massage. Walking to many attractions like the market and sule Pagoda. Room big and comfortable. Great wifi. Great TV. Good air conditioning. I would say this hotel looks nicer than its photos show. The rooms were very comfortable, the breakfast was a huge buffet and the staff were extremely attentive. We just stayed one night but could have imagined staying longer. The location is also good as short distance to pagodas and town centre. China town itself also interesting to walk around.

My wife and I stayed here in January and had a most enjoyable stay. We arrived very early for check in but the management let us swap the breakfast we would miss on our departure day to our check in day. We upgraded to a deluxe room and were able to check in at 09.00. The room was massive with a great view of Shwe Dagon. Breakfast was amazing with wonderful choices. The staff from check in to cleaning were super efficient and friendly. The hotel organized our taxi to the airport,. which was just as well, as on our way to the airport, they rang the taxi driver to tell us my wife's wallet, with all her credit cards was found on the floor of our room.

Absolutely loved the German potato soup and Mohinga. They provide honey for tea too. A good spread of Asian and Western choices. Rooms were clean and nicely appointed. Staff were friendly and well conversant in English.

The Best Western Chinatown is very well managed, modern, and clean. The staff spoke great English and were very helpful, especially in getting us taxis. And the location is very good, just a few blocks from the Chinese BBQ street. I thought the breakfast buffet was pretty good, too. Overall, highly recommended!

If you want a place that's close to downtown Yangon the best western Chinatown is hard to beat. It's a lovely clean modern hotel amongst the busy alleys of Chinatown. In an area that can overwhelm you by its smell, rubbish and noise you can observe the locals, the history and culture. The staff are wonderful, helpful and happy. The rooms are tastefully decorated with all modern facilities, lovely bathrooms and our room on the 8th floor was isolated from street noise. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection for all. Within easy walking distance was Sule Pagoda, the colonial quarter, river, bogyoke markets and 3 modern western style malls (junction, ocean and city)offering good food and coffee. The train station is about 20-30 minutes walk. Taxis are 2000 kyat to most places and 8000 kyat to/ from the airport.

I travel regularly to SE Asia, but this was my first time in Myanmar. This property was the absolutely perfect home base for my three-night visit. The location cannot be beat. It is right in the heart of the action--a 2-10-minute walk from the city's best food, shopping, and many historical sites of note. I booked a few months in advance, and when I arrived was informed that I'd been upgraded to a suite for free "because I booked early", despite having no status with Best Western. The room was spacious, the property was spotless, and the staff were wonderful. By the first evening, they had memorized my room number and preferences. I was greeted with a genuine smile at every turn. The breakfast--included in the cost of the room--was above average. This property is a great value, ideal location, and an all-around pleasure. Look no further in this price range in Yangon.

I had the chance to stay in Yangon for a long weekend at the Best Western Chinatown Hotel and was quite satisfied with the rooms, the service, the staff and the facilities. the breakfast buffet was good and plentiful, the showers had plenty of hot water and whenever we needed a taxi, driver or other assistance, the hotel staff was always there to help. The Best Western Chinatown hotel is perfectly located in the inner city of Yangon. Nearby markets, shopping areas, malls, central train station, bus stops, etc. The rooms are luxurious, in their own and very elegant design. Anything you need is there, from WiFi to kettle. Breakfast is spectacular: both international and local specialties are offered at the mouthwatering buffet. Don't eat your usual toast, there are so many items you just have to try. Staff is very helpful, always polite without expecting a tip. Which makes giving a tip even easier. The restaurant is open all day and serves wonderful dishes at reasonable prices. Like breakfast, they offer local and international food for lunch and dinner. We had our dinner each night there.

The hotel is great, but it is on a main road opposite the main Yangon Hospital. The sound of traffic and horns is very loud. Bring earplugs. But the staff were great. Fantastic breakfast. Yes - I'd stay there again.

Friendly staff arranged for early check in as well as boxed breakfast for early departure. It is walkable to Chinatown, Little India, Sule pagoda, Strand street and 999 Shan noodles in January. Otherwise, taxi is readily available and inexpensive. Its restaurant is very safe and reasonable. Try the chef's special.

Well located in the heart of Chinatown this little hotel has it all. Quiet but somewhat small rooms, super friendly and accommodating staff, clean, good breakfast buffet, great restaurant. An oasis in a neighbourhood that is a bit trashy but so convenient to visit the Markets, Pagoda, Strand street, Dala.

Stayed here for two nights in a room on the 14th floor and could only fault it in one way. The hanging space in my room, the “wardrobe” was about a foot wide, very small given the space in the room. The room itself was excellent in every other way, comfortable bed, spacious, spotlessly clean, and I could not fault anything. The shower was very smelly from the waste pipe on the first day but when I mentioned it to reception it was sorted, the actual shower was fabulous. The breakfast in the modern dining room caters for a host of nationalities. The location is perfect in downtown Yangon. I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel. Transfer from the airport by taxi is 10,000MMK and return 8,000MMK.

Located in downtown Yangon, in Chinatown, this hotel is great for anyone wishing to visit Yangon and just walking the streets which are filled with food products from local farmers, a lot of jewelry stores. A really great location. Staff were just wonderful and the restaurant serves a great breakfast (really great !) and very good meals. I would recommend it to everyone.

The Hotel was located in a good part of town, easily accessible to areas of interest. The Hotel itself I found to be slightly above average. The people working their were very courteous, and some of the best staff I have encountered, always more than happy to help out, a good sign for your Hotel. As for the Hotel itself, the Lobby was nice and cool, the Air Conditioning working well, pity the rest of the Hotel, eg, Dinning Room, Hallways etc were not. The rooms were well cooled. The Room was smaller than the pictures suggested, they were clean and the bed was comfortable. The Television had poor reception making viewing annoying. And waiting for a few minutes for warm water when showering was bad. The WiFi was terrible, even after being allegedly turned up. This was most annoying as I had some work to do each day, requiring a good connection. We only had breakfast at the Hotel and the food was ok, nothing to write about.

Excellent Hotel that serves people with a Smile. we enjoyed the hospitable touch from this Hotel. Such warm welcome until we departed. The rooms are very clean and well kept. we had 7 baggage's that fitted perfectly into our room and the shopping area is just hop step and a jump away ranging from local treasures to jade which is the most hunted jewels if you plan to visit. My family stayed twice at the Best Western Chinatown during our trip to Myanmar. The first time around, we were given rooms as booked. The staff greeted us with a welcome drink and we enjoyed having dinner at the hotel restaurant on the fourth floor. Special mention to the waiter/attendant who spoke Filipino. He made sure all our orders and additional requests were fulfilled. Breakfast was also great. There was a wide variety of food, from western fares to Burmese cuisine. The concierge and the lobby attendants, on both shifts, were very helpful. One lobby attendant was nice enough to warn us of the traffic in Yangon, and he suggested that we leave the hotel for the bus station (as we were headed to Mandalay) 3 hours before our scheduled departure. True enough we barely made it to the bus station in time. The traffic in Yangon is horrible. On our second stay, Phyu Phyu, the desk manager, gladly informed us of our room upgrade. I am not surprised that Ms. Phyu is often mentioned here as she was very delightful to talk to! We were given suites, all with views of the Shwedagon Pagoda. And to add to our delight, we were allowed to check in early at 10 am. Talk about hospitality!! The lobby attendant gave us a tip on where to eat at Junction City (which is Yangon's most upscale shopping mall) and the restaurant he suggested did not disappoint! As we had to leave early the next day, the hotel made sure to pack breakfast for each of us. Location is in Chinatown. The hotel is surrounded by ambulant vendors and the streets are always busy. Our group travel to Myanma and stay at Best Western Chinatown only 1 night before head to Bago. I impress with all staff there present friendly and proactive support. Room is clean and comfortable. Hotel location is near local fresh market and crowded with seller in evening and morning good for my mom to look for fruits. Love hotel Breakfast with variety of choices and delicious. Thanks for chef who gave greeting to guest at Breakfast and guide some dish detail as well. Only elevator bit small and may busy in morning time.

I have been in the Best Western Chinatown for 4 nights and I found the friendliness and service of the staff here outstanding. Breakfast exceeded my expectations. Rooms Look somewhat old stylish and should be pimped up imo. Summed up, a very good choice

Check-in was friendly & prompt, each given a refreshing welcome beverage. Efficient staff brought our bags up. We were upgraded & on the 14th floor in a very large room, king bed, complimentary ear plugs (one set), window off to one end with no view due to an outer service corridor & grating, writing area & chair, desk lamp, chaise lounge, TV, fridge, kettle/coffee/tea, AC, large bathroom with shower with shampoo, conditioner, 4 towels, room safe, slippers, robe, ample room lighting, central control panel for lights & power (fun to figure out) & ample storage space. Also free WiFi. We stayed a second time 2 days later, upgraded room on 12th floor, much smaller than first but still ample size, nice, com & it had a view of the Golden Temple but did get a little more street noise, hence the free pair of ear plugs for the light sleepers. There is a Grab & Go next door to the hotel with is a mini-convenience store with needed basic supplies, pretty wide range of supplies for a small place. For more there is a small Supermarket about 2 blocks away in a little 4 story mall (left out of hotel, left at first street, right at next street & end of the block at some traffic lights). Also ATM's along the way. The hotel has a restaurant with 24 hour room service & a large breakfast buffet, egg station & a good mix of Asian & Western items, nice buffet. If you have to leave early in the morning before the buffet is going, they will make you a breakfast box. This is a nice hotel & would stay there again.

We stayed for 2 nights in a junior suite on the 9th floor in the first week of Dec. Check in took a while as there were quite a few people waiting. We had requested a room on the 12 the floor to keep the noise levels down & get a view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. They offered us a corner room on the 11th floor but the view was obstructed. The hotel was pretty booked & we were tired & didn't want to wait so we settled for a room on the 9th floor with a very good view. Surprisingly the noise levels were fine & didn't bother at all. The junior suite is very spacious with a good sized bathroom & comfortable. The decor is quite garish but the bed was good & the view even better. The hotel is central & well located. I was apprehensive that it would be in the middle of a dirty,busy market but nothing of that sort....it's on a wide,busy road with plenty of taxis whizzing past. The doorman would hail a taxi for us & even negotiate a price which was really nice of them. All the staff were extremely helpful, breakfast was plentiful & good,laundry was reasonably priced. Despite good reviews one is still not sure about the quality....this small hotel exceeded all our expectations & is very good value for money.

Very attentive staff. I liked the cold juice given at entry. Very refreshing. The location is hopping with action. Only stay if you like it busy. The rooms were nice, but there was a little bit of better cleaning under beds and tables that could have been done.

Rarely after reading a Hotel review does a hotel live up to all of your expectations. Best Western Chinatown met and exceeded all of mine. Upon check-in, we were greeted by Mi Mi at the reception desk. She spoke English well and was able to understand our concerns. She provided us with details about the included breakfast and guest services. After reading Trip Advisor's numerous recommendations, I made certain to book a junior suite on a high floor to avoid the noise near street level. I booked room 1203, an Executive corner suite overlooking Anawrahta Road and Lanmadaw Street, the perfect room with a phenomenal view of the area. The room was very clean, the mattress was firm, and the sheets and pillows were of 5-star quality. The bathroom was also modern and offered every amenity. Than Toe Aung helped with our luggage and volunteered to serve as our guide to show us around Yangon on our first day in the city. Than took us to a local Buddhist monastery where we had the distinct pleasure of meeting the Secretary who managed the grounds and spoke fluent English. The Secretary introduced us to one of the young monks in residence and we were briefed on monastic life as a Buddhist monk. Than recommended a great Shan local restaurant for dinner, the Shan Yoe Yar on Sale Pagoda Road. If not for Than's recommendation, we would have probably starved since the street food in Yangon is questionable at best. The following morning we went to the buffet breakfast, included with each room. We were greeted by the Food & Beverage Manager, Kyaw Swar Oo, who ensured that everything met with our satisfaction. The international menu selection was incredible. Fresh made pastries, an omelet bar, fruit and dessert bar, vegetarian section, and congee (rice porridge) made this restaurant's breakfast buffet an exception. I always judge the quality of a breakfast buffet by whether they serve bacon. And then if it is cooked to crispy perfection. This restaurant did serve bacon. However, it could have been cooked slightly longer and then drained to remove the excess fat. This was my only complaint during the four-days we stayed at the Hotel. Best Western Chinatown still ranks Five Stars in my opinion based on its level of service, its professional and courteous service staff, and its attention to detail. And for its location in the heart of Yangon and price, this Hotel is definitely unbeatable!

Typically high levels of service, just like most of Myanmar. Staff very helpful and informative, even with stuff like booking taxis for days out and for transport back to the airport. Hotel is ok and good value for money give the price. The in-house Orchid Cafe is reasonably priced and the cocktails are cheap - very easy to get lashed on $20!!

Only stayed for one night but staff were all very attentive and helpful - they helped with organising taxis as well as calling our hotel bookings for other cities to change our itineraries. Location was good - near the food markets in Chinatown.

Have a good feel of Burmese's hospitality when you are staying in this hotel. You can totally feel welcome by the team service staffs from the very moment you step onto the front door of the hotel, even before entering it. Reasonable room rates, good buffet breakfast spread which comes with room stay. Though my room had some technical issues, the Manager tried his best to settle the issue for me. Eventually all turn out well, when we my family and I got what we desired for in a hotel stay. It's vicinity has good amenities, dining, etc. Very close to Chinatown Yangon. Walking distance to Junction City, a new mall just opened recently, with Pan Pacific Hotel Yangon as their neighbour. Highly recommended for its rates, service and location. Ok but nothing special. Normal rooms are very small. All facilities (spa and gym ) were under construction. Central. Close to 19th with all the barbecues. Reception is not very capable. Lost most of our groups reservations respectively did not find them when we were checking in. Wrong invoice.

There are many positives about this hotel but I can't give 5 stars as there were a couple of negatives I'll come to later. As for the positives, the location is great in the heart of downtown with a real feel of the hustle and bustle of Yangon. It's only a 10 min walk to Bogyoke Aung San (Scott) market, about 15 min to Sule Pagoda and only 2 mins to 19th street which is a well-known lively night spot with a couple of authentic bars and restaurants. The rooms are new and fairly spacious as you would expect from a Best Western. All the amenities are supplied including a safe, fridge, TV with a good selection of English channels and 2 free bottles of water daily. The WIFI in the room and throughout the hotel was good and the best I experienced during my stay in Myanmar. Another plus was the good breakfast buffet with a chef on hand for omelettes and a wide selection of both western and Asian options. I ate several times in the restaurant for both lunch and dinner too which had a good menu selection and the staff were really nice. As for the negatives it started at check-in with the reception staff where they were quite formal and unfriendly, which was a complete contrast to the other hotels I'd stayed in during my time in Myanmar where the staff were unbelievably welcoming. The reception staff instead of advising that my booked room was not available they said nothing and sent me to an inferior room. Obviously I returned to reception where the duty manager tried to correct the problem. But this was frustrating. The second room I got although an upgrade, was facing the main street and this was the main negative with traffic noise where the drivers freely use their horns and so noise from early morning was inevitable. Thankfully I had only been allocated that room for one night and had to move to my originally booked room the next day. On getting my third room I made sure I was allocated a room at the back of the hotel which was considerably quieter. So the key tip is to ensue you have a quiet room booked at the back of the hotel away from the lift and street noise (preferably on a high floor). Other than the reception staff, the other staff in the hotel I interacted with were all great. Another tip was if you have time a day trip to Bago is well worth it with loads of attractions to fill a day and generally is about 1.5 – 2 hours each way drive. The concierge arranged this for me at a reasonable price. In summary, a good hotel, but try and get a quiet room.

Well received and fast response from hotel bell boys once alight from the taxi service to help to carry luggage to the reception. Serve welcome drinks immediately upon checking room. Check-in is fast. Hotel breakfast as I seen from earlier TripAdvisor guests comments, indeed what all said are true. The buffet breakfast here is serving one of the best in Yangon and the spread is wide ranging from local delicacy to international servings. I honestly speaking I enjoy a lot at this breakfast and took my family a longer time to try all the food here. Hotel staffs are very thoughtful and knew my request before I came to Yangon, I'm asking for a high floor non smoking room and for my 5th year wedding anniversary, they give us a complimentary anniversary cake to congratulate us. Thanks you so much to Best Western Chinatown. The downside is there is only one lift elevator. I would recommend if there is an area for the hotel to build a second lift. Shall the only one and only life malfunction, it will be very headache especially for Junior Suite and Premier Suite guests who are staying on 12th and 14th floor to go up and down with big heavy luggage. Seen comments from some guests stating the rooms are small. I believe is how much one pay equals to how much the room can be offer. I spend a little more money on Executive room compare to the Superior Room, no issue with the space as I came with my family and a small baby. In fact the room is huge and toilet is very big with a nice glass panel bathtub. Executive room comes with window facing Shwedagon Pagoda which at night, the view of the shining pagoda is magnificent and absurd. I will sure come to this hotel next year for my yearly family visiting and wedding anniversary tour. Perhaps I can get a Junior Suite next time.

We stayed here on the first leg of our Myanmar trip. Great location, superb service from staff (included them locating a cable I'd lost and needed as well as saving it so I could collect it when back in Yangon), this hotel ticked every box, very clean, affordable and friendly. Highly recommend.

We were only here for a couple of nights towards the end of a fabulous walking holiday in Myanmar. But we were enchanted by the great service and little personal touches by the staff. The room was spacious and beautifully air conditioned. All the required amenities were provided. It won't win awards for decoration but that wasn't our priority. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. I even got a lovely glass of Languedoc white with dinner. Ans

The taxi driver had difficulties locating the hotel although it is situated on a Main Street . Looking at the nondescript exterior , it is easy to miss. Once inside everything worked perfectly . The concierge and reception were very helpful and friendly . Room was clean and rather nice,. Breakfast was very good with a good selection of western and local fare. Centrally located within walking distance to many tourist sites. Cannot recommend it enough . Highly recommended. Will definitely stay here next time I am in yangon

Friendly efficient check in. Had room on 12th floor with nice city views. Taxi from airport fixed 8000 fee, so don't pay the $30 wanted from the hotel. Room pretty good size with very comfortable clean bed with good linens. Aircon worked well, good WiFi and a big room safe. Powerful shower and toiletries provided. Breakfast was excellent with hot and cold options to cater for most tastes. The breakfast dining room on the 4th floor was very nicely laid out with some views too. Also good for dinner. Overall a good location, clean and good value.

This Hotel is set in the China Town area of Rangoon, it's central location is good for sight seeing. The Resturant has a good meal selection and the food quality is very good. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are well decorated. No pool or Gym. Has 24 hour room service, this is helpful as most restaurants stop serving food around midnight. Hotel is close to 19th street which is popular with backpackers as it has cheap outside style Restaurants. Although restaurants is not the best way of describing them. More like street food/market type dinning. Only issue is the noise of the traffic outside, the cars seem to beep their horns all day and night.

I give this hotel a five-points rating because of the following reasons: Firstly, its excellent location - at least for me - as it is right in the heart of the Chinatown, along 17th Street, for visitors who enjoy good local food and wish to stay close and be part of the local community. In fact, within a one km radius, one could easily explore the entire down town area surrounded between Street 9 and Street 20. Secondly, its software - very warm and friendly hotel staff - that immediately makes one feel welcome, that it is the right place to stay. To be honest, I was at first taken aback looking at the entrance before entering the hotel but that worry soon disappeared. The checking in process was fast and efficient as my online booking records were there - unlike some Malaysian hotels that demand hard copy from me. One good example further elaborate the quality service: a few hours after checking in, I realised that my IPhone charging cable was not working and wanted to go out to buy a new cable, the counter staff instead loaned me one instead, saving my time to look around! Thirdly, the hotel is affordable by Singaporean standard – less than a hundred dollars per night via Hotel.com. The room is of a good size - 33 sqm as seen from the images I attached in this review. One extra mark I give to this hotel is that the power to the wall mounted sockets will not cut off when one leaves the room. This is very thoughtful for people who need to charge their battery banks and laptop when they went out for a quick meal. Fourthly, housekeeping is good and the room is clean, bathroom functions TV reception is clear and many foreign channels including, BBC, CNN and CNA and one Chinese and one Japanese channel. The lighting level is excellent as its brightness can be easily controlled for reading and watching TV. Fifthly, breakfast which is included, serves a good range of local ad western food, that a person like me who usually does not bother to have breakfast in hotel, took it throughout my stay. If there are two minor points I could highlight: firstly the lift is on raised floor rather wheelchair unfriendly and those who carry heavy bags/shopping. Fortunately there are always hotel staff nearby to help. Secondly, the room door has to be manually close as it is not installed with auto-door closer - thus a small risk to guests who are used to walk out without checking if the door is properly shut. On the whole, this is the hotel I would strongly recommend if you wish to stay near Chinatown. I only hope that the management would keep up the good work and not to raise the room rate too much as it has become too popular.

This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. Was traveling around SE Asia solo and ended up staying here twice during my two visits to Yangon. The staff is beyond friendly, they remembered me my second visit and upgraded my room. The last night I was in Yangon they were fully booked according to the website and thought I would have to switch hotels but they managed to accommodate me. The breakfast is out of this world. Possibly the best breakfast buffet ever. Location is good and easy access to taxis if traveling further. Cannot recommend this place enough. Thanks for the amazing stays!

first of all - the location is great for yangoon - first couple of days and last night of out trip we stayed in yangoon. first we stayed at - different hotel which was definitely different class. the room was supersmall with a strange set up (see pictures) including traps on the way - well step - to the bathroom. the room was not very clean either - apparently they are currently renovating - still - rather weird layout. the best thing about the hotel is the breakfast - it really is amazing- no sarcasm. juices, any kind of eggs, pastries etc - its all here - really good. so the breakfast earns this hotel two points - the rest ... not really worth it. mind you there is one slow elevator for a 14 floor hotel - it can take some time to get to the breakfast floor on the fourth - so you might as well walk.

Stayed here for two weeks end of Oct - early Nov. Check-in was quick and painless which was much appreciated after a long flight and a late night arrival. The staff really made for a positive experience from check-in to check-out. From the front counter staff to the dining room staff to the porters and doormen, all were constantly ready with smiles and friendly help. We tried to learn at least a few words and phrases of Myanmarese and everyone was eager and willing to help, despite our slow progress. Some of the staff even stopped us and volunteered phrases once they found out that we were interested. That was a really nice, personal touch. We had a delux room which was large by Asian standards. It was kept very clean, the A/C worked well, there was plenty of hot water and surprisingly, the WiFi in the room was excellent. We were on the back side, so it was relatively quiet, except for a truck-mounted loudspeaker around the corner that blasted out from early morning to late evening leading up to and during the Tazaungdaing Festival. That was totally out of the control of the hotel, but the hotel management went to the trouble to distribute a very nice flyer explaining the festival and apologizing for the noise. That was another nice touch. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and if you went away hungry, it was your own fault, because there was something for everyone and it was all well prepared and presented. We had an early morning departure for a side trip to Bagan and the hotel had take away breakfast boxes ready for us without even being asked. Again, the dining room staff made the extra effort to learn our preferences for other meals and made us feel almost like family. We can't say enough good things about them.

My kids (12, 4, 8) and I stayed here for one night in an Executive double suite with an extra bed. We were greeted with an excellent view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. Room was clean and spacious enough, even with an extra bed. Staff was friendly and helpful. They allowed us the use of a room for a quick shower even after we checked out as we were taking late buses. Breakfast buffet was pretty good with a lot of options. Location was in walking distance of the circular train and a short taxi ride to Shwedagon Pagoda. I would definitely recommend and stay here again. Cons: You have to climb a few steps to get to the lift.

I stayed for two days at this hotel.hotel is located in downtown.breakfast was awesome, staffs are helpful. room is small but it's enough for me. Mr.Thent Zim is nice manager. he is a pro .he arranged taxi and breakfast box for me in the early morning. junction city mall is about 10 mins walk from hotel.

The hotel is right in the middle of happening area, which is along street 20. A small walk and there is a convenience store on your right just outside the hotel. Breakfast is served on 4th floor. Rooms are spacious for deluxe room! Clean, quiet and good!

Well the staff are well presented and nice and helpful always obliging to help.They do have bathrooms with baths in them but mine had a shower very nice rooms and they had a movie channel and discovery channel to watch plus other channels from around asia and world .Check out is 12 noon ..They let me check in early which was good very relaxing and they have free Wi Fi....And its not far from Junction city shopping centre or 3mins to Gem stones new market...I had a really good stay there can't say a bad word ...Phyu Phyu is the manager there she good ladie..

We arrived in the early evening, check in was quick and efficient. The rooms, although nicely appointed are on the small side, everything is packed into a tight space. The thing we appreciated was Barbecue Street (19th) was just around the corner. Dinner for two, with drinks, $20. Transfer from the airport is 10,000kts ($10).

Very comfortable, good location, attentive staff. Wide choice at breakfast catering to both Asian and European preferences. No double glazing and on a busy intersection so sound from constant use of horns cannot be avoided.

Good location to access at Yangon's down-town. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, so I was good sleep. The staff was so friendly and prepared a breakfast-box for my early morning flight. Really enjoyed my stay. Thank you so much.

This was my first visit to Myanmar, and the staff in the hotel made my stay in the country very pleasant. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown, amid the enchanting buzz and activity of the city, which in itself is charming and it's people warm and lovely. I'd like to especially mention the great service the restaurant staff provided: they not only painstakingly put the most exciting complementary breakfast every morning but also helped me prepare a small surprise for my partner!

Good location to access food courts and restaurants. Nice view facing pagoda. Considerate, helpful and cheerful staffs. We stay two nights at this hotel. This is the second time we stayed at this hotel. They upgrade our room due to the convenient of our senior member who could not moved well and they also arranged early breakfast for us at five because we need to depart at six for early flight.

We arrived after 23 hours travel and at 11 pm to be met by very friendly, happy and efficient staff. All staff were excellent during our 2 day stay. The rooms are on the small side but whilst crowded even for a couple are adequate. TV reception as quite poor but we weren't there to watch television. Breakfast was just ok. The hotel was well located for what we wanted to do as we walked most place and it was a cheap taxi ride to just about anywhere else

I was there mid Oct 2017. I stayed there for 4 nights with a friend. Hotel location very good. About 15 minutes walk to Bogyoke Market.I would say hotel lovely decorated but just need to upgrade some area as it was getting a little old. Like wallpaper, some furniture due to wear and tear. Staff were nice and helpful. However, they understand some basic English. My room comes with a bath tub and shower area. Not very big, but just nice for 2 person. There were coffee, tea and a boiler in the room. Also 2 small bottle water. Breakfast on the 4th floor was nice. They have fruits, juices, coffee machine, bread, egg dishes, noodles, porridge, etc...

Its a nice hotel to live in the commercial city of our country ,Yangon... So many facts to point why i recommend u like this...among them,the room facilities r in good form.the rooms r clean & smart...the premium room is perfect...the staffs r so friendly....the restaurant ,eastern orchid,has so many varieties to choose,and the taste is awesome...The breakfast is also nice... Among so many good points ,if u ask to point me out the drawbacks,i have two things.1st is Car parking difficulty.2nd is there is no ATM bank machine & u cant also cash yr bill with any local (MPU)credit card at reception.. But in conclusion,this hotel is worth with my 5star rating...*****

It was raining a little when we arrived. Doorman rushed out to our car with umbrellas. This was indicative of the service we received at the hotel. The service was extremely good from all departments. The room was well furnished for a mid range hotel, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was plentiful with predominantly Asian food, fruits, cereals and croissants, I enjoyed breakfast however I made the mistake of eating in the restaurant. We were tired after a day of sightseeing and had an early flight. So rather than go out to eat as we had on the first night we tried the restaurant for convenience. We had the $7 specials. Either chicken noodles or chicken and rice. We also had sarah's. The chicken had clearly been reheated, not cooked fresh for us. Like warm and dried out. The butter rice was bland and tasteless. The satays were so dried out we could hardly get them off the skewer. It was really poor and the worst food we experienced in Yangon. Far better to get an Uber to the Rangoon Tea House.

The air conditioner is installed at the end of the bed, it will directly blow your head during your sleep. The toothpastes are expired. They are expired on July, my stay is in October. How long does the hotel keep them...

The hotel services is very good. The food is delicious and meeting room condition is good too. The hotel located is in downtown and close to shooping mall, night market. In the morning, you can see the local market beside hotel to find myanmar traditional foods and can observe their daily life. I recommend you to come and visit this hotel.

This hotel is 15 min walking distance from bogyoke market. From out side it doesn't appear great hotel but once you check in the experience excellent Room are spacious, Great spread of breakfast food, excellent staff( front desk , Housekeeping, room service and Resturant) Each and every Staff, manager,general manager is concerned and caring. Quality of sleep is good and I felt amenity this hotel is providing is world class. I will stay here again

We've travelled extensively and I would have to say this hotel in Yangon Chinatown has the friendliest staff I have come across. Always quick to smile and chat the breakfast, reception, concierge and housecleaning staff were amazing. Organising a cake (free of charge) and a happy birthday surprise sing a long for my wife's birthday was above and beyond what was required. Hotel food was very good in particular the local cuisine and a buffet breakfast that had changes every day for our 16 day stay was appreciated. Located in Chinatown and very close to food, bars and shops I couldn't be any happier with our choice of hotel.

We stayed there for 2 nights on a weekend. The service was good. Staff was friendly and room were spacious. Though the receptionist were not that fluent with English, but it was manageable. Bogyoke San Market is very close by. The location was great.

Clean and comfortable, good location, good value for money, excellent breakfast. We stayed twice during our travel to Myanmar. First time in a small room, enough for a short stay. The second in a Junior suite. Superb staff friendly and helpful, whenever you need a taxi, bus tickets, restaurants or even a late check out.

Very friend and helpful staff. location was great. breakfast range was also very nice! Stayed in 12th floor which I could enjoy the night view! But had to clean the shower drain. Too much hair blocked it.

I'll go through the cons not many but I should mention to be fair, firstly we arrived at airport & through emails we had organised to be picked up....no pick up, a taxi man helped us & got through to motel which we were then told to wait for 45 mins to be picked up...we were hot and grumpy so took a cab which was much cheaper anyway, got to the motel and were stunned by the outside....thought we were in the bronx! so was not a good start..however...after many apologies later things were worked out. Our room was way too small but we did go the cheaper side of things and the kettle when boiled was too hot to pour as the handle was boiling hot too. Now the pros...the staff are LOVELY....every single one of them. The restaurant is a must...yummy food. Would i go back....for sure...we would spend a little more though for a better room.

From the airport pick till the check out was a first class experience. All the staffs speaks english and were extremely friendly who made my stay very pleasant. The room was very comfortable and specious. It has a mini bar, tea & coffee maker, big tele, good air con, sofa, robe, desk, safe etc. Large toilet and shower comes will all toiletries, hairdryer, razor, comb. The hotel is in a good location, there are a lot of local shops, restaurants nearby. Best of all there is a 24hrs corner shop next door. Sule pagoda & Maha Buddha park is only about 15 mins walk. I liked the breakfast, there is a lot of options to choose from. The hotel restaurant and bar is generally very quite and slightly expensive for obvious reason. But the quality of food is good. I've tried Burmese curry and rice which were decent. I'll sure be back.

This hotel definitely lives up to western standards and the value for money is great! The rooms are very clean and comfortable but rather small (the twin rooms at least). The location is convenient to explore downtown Yangon, although it's a 20 min walk to Sule Pagoda. The breakfast is delicious and the buffet huge. Staff is friendly and helps with organizing bus tickets or taxis. Our number 1 pick in Yangon!

This was a good place to stay. We picked it out randomly because our other hotel did not honor their booking. We were glad we found this little gem of a hotel. I don't know what the other options are nearby but I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel is very centrally located within walking distance of markets,bars, shopping centers, and Sule Pagoda. The Staff at this hotel were exceptional so friendly,helpful and always smiling.! The hotel is very well maintained with modern facilities,flat screen TVs and well appointed bathrooms. The breakfast was possibly the best I have ever come across with a large variety of hot and cold dishes and again friendly helpful service. Evening meals are available in the dining room at affordable prices with great service. Chilled juice and water are always available just inside the entrance door. Taxi service from Yangon International Airport is very good at a very reasonable cost of 8000/10,000 MMK. The journey takes approx one hour at busy times and half that at off peak times.

This our second stay here over the past 12 months and as per usual everything was just perfect. We always choose the Junior Suite - it is very spacious, has high quality fittings and everything you need in a hotel room is provided. It is great value for the money. The buffet breakfast is varied and plentiful with eggs cooked to order. We don't generally eat in at hotels at night but we do here!! The dining room setting, staff and food are excellent. The menu is not huge but it is varied with both Asian and Western choices and the value is very good - it is not that much more expensive than a good restaurant outside in Chinatown. From check-in to check-out the whole experience is perfect.

Clean, comfortable, hotel. Amazing breakfast buffet and attentive staff with excellent English language skills. Nearly every member of the staff seemed to double as a concierge. Special thanks to Mr. Win Thaw Oo and Ms. May Me Moe Set who went above and beyond to make our visit easy and comfortable. The hotel is very centrally located with many markets and attractions within easy walking distance.

This was my first trip to Yangon and I opted for this hotel due to its location close to major tourist attractions. I booked a junior suite and after a speedy but friendly check-in was taken to room 709 where I was pleasantly surprised by the size and amenities in the room. The bed was super-comfy, the large TV had HBO Movies, Fox Movies plus CNN, BBC World and Nat Geo channels. A deep bathtub and a separate rain shower were in the bathroom - hot water was plentiful but took a little time to come through. The view from my window was great, the air conditioning worked well, the 24 hour room service menu was good and fairly priced. All the staff I encountered were very friendly and eager to help at all times and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

Stayed here for 4 nights having never been to Myanmar previously so didn't know what to expect. This hotel has fantastic staff . So friendly and helpful...nothings a problem. In my opinion this hotel had the most obliging and helpful staff I ever stayed at throughout the world.. The Restrarant serves enjoyable food at competitive prices. The hotel is clean and tastefully decorated.

This was our second trip to Myanmar and also our second time in Yangon. We chose to stay in the same neighbourhood (China Town) as it is quite convenient in terms of restaurant options and drinking places. Moreover some of the key sites of the city are in more or less walking distance (depending on your fitness of course). Best Western Chinatown Hotel definitely did not disappoint though there's nothing particularly outstanding about it either. We had a smallish room with a view of blind wall but the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom very functional, the TV big and with quite a few international channels, and room service was efficient. The rooms come with breakfast which is buffet styles with quite a few Asian (Burmese/Japanese/SE Asian) as well as Western options. There's also a bar where they can whip up a drink for you. On two days we made use of the driver which was suggested to us by the hotel itself to make trips outside Yangon and he was absolutely excellent. Although I don't remember his name I would highly recommend asking the hotel to arrange this for you.

It was hard to believe such a grand hotel could exist in the middle of such a poor yet convenient, neighbourhood. From the minute we opened the taxi door, the staff was welcoming and thoroughly solicitous of our comfort. They couldn't do enough to help accommodate our every wish so we could get on with what we were there for. The young men at the door, the young ladies at reception, the Manager, the Restaurant Manager and waiters, they were all so gentle and helpful. The buffet breakfast was the best laid out and managed compared to any we've had in Asia, UK and USA. There was tremendous variety, yet so beautifully laid out in quantities that made it appetizing, not overwhelming. A meeting room for our little group was all it lacked, but in such a large city, that was understandable as far as real estate is concerned. The housekeeping was very good, though we had to keep asking for more tea-bags, not being coffee drinkers. Some towel rails in the bathroom would have been helpful Congratulations Best Western Chinatown Hotel, Yangon. We look forward to our next visit.

The staff were very polite, helpful and english speaking. Rooms are clean. When we first arrived, the duty manager Mr. Soe Tun Win was there to welcome us. Great breakfast. Every day different menu. My family really enjoyed the food.

Rooms are big and spacious (executive room). The room outside windows needed a clean though. Staff are very helpful and friendly, and speak English. A 15 minute walk to Oceans Supermarket at St Johns and 15 mins walk to Junction City shopping centre (or a 1500 kyat taxi ride through Grab). Easiest way to get around from this hotel is by ordering a taxi through the Grab (or Uber) app (it's cheaper and no haggling required). You'll receive a phone call from the taxi driver asking where you are, simply give your phone to any of the hotel staff and they will direct the taxi driver to you. Also, this hotel provides a great breakfast each day.

Hotel is within China Town as the name suggests. The breakfasts provided limited options and some of the fruits were overripe. The noise from the street could be annoying. Small hiccups, such as lights not connected and a slow lift made the almost pleasant stay annoying. Desk staff were very accommodating. No pool.

I stayed this hotel 2 times when I travel to Myanmar because I like their service is the first reason. And also their room are nice, not big but comfortable and clean. Comfortable bed and full amenities in bathroom. Good location with walking distance from hotel to shopping mall, China town area where you can enjoy local food. I will stay at this hotel again for sure when I travel to Yangon next time.

We arrived to the hotel and got an early check in at 7:30am after a nightbus from Bagan. The hotel is in an excellent spot for exploring the city, with several local landmarks - Bogyoke Market (1km), Sule Pagoda (1,3km), the Circular Train, 17th street, Shwedagon Pagoda (3km) - within walking distance.

Stayed only one night as a stopover. Rooms were clean and spacious (at least mine which was a junior suite). They had rénovation going but the noise was not so bad (11th floor). Location is good. 45minute walk (if the heat or the massive September thunderstorm doesn't scare you) to the Shwedagon Pagoda. And easy reach of the towns food spots. Staff very friendly - as is customary in this part of the world - and helpful.

The room is small but has all you need. This is in Chinatown so when you go out of the hotel, you will experience Myanmar living its daily life. The staff are very friendly. That one show the hospitality of Burmese.

Clean and tastefully decorated room; pleasant and helpful staff; great breakfast spread that changes each day. Hotel is situated in the heart of the busy city center, at the edge of Chinatown. It was great to be able to come back to a quiet and homely environment at the end of each day of work. Our hotel room price included breakfast!! Value for money.

This hotel was nice for what we paid for it an the breakfast was exceptional. The location wasn't ideal but it was decent. Just make sure you specify that you want to be on a non-smoking floor if that's your preference. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I had a cut on my leg and one of the staff members, Nay Thu Hein, walked with me to the store to help me buy medicine. Would recommend!

Fantastic position in Yangon. The district around the hotel (Chinatown) is like a big open market, full of restaurants that propose barbecue, noodles...very tasty! Good and rich breakfast and friendly staff. The only negative point is related to the room that was small and with a little bit of smoke smell.

Ask for a room facing the pagoda, highest floor available. Although you will get sick of pagodas by the time you are done in Myanmar, this is a good place to start. I rate the breakfast highly for Myanmar. Start the day right with sushi and creme caramel... Don't be shy, drink the mini-bar dry. Cheap like you wouldn't believe. Best enjoyed in the tub. Which leads me to the question: when did glass walls between bedrooms and bathrooms become a thing?

This hotel was at a great location in Yangon. Staff were very attentive and couldn't do enough for you. The rooms were clean, large enough and had everything we needed but were a little dark due to the decor.

My 1st trip to Myanmar, so I am totally new to Myanmar. Via GOD's blessings, I booked the Best Western Chinatown Hotel, Yangon, all the staff is very helpful, from AFOM Mr. Nanda, Duty Manager Mr. Soe Tun Win, all trying to assist me from the time I arrived, as well as to assist me to get around with the appropriate transportation, assist me to make the phone call as well. The Concierge also recommend good Burmese Restaurant for me to taste the local food, which make my 1st trip much more easier than expected. Though the hotel is located right at the Chinatown, but it is located at a relatively good spot easy to get around and get transportation, plus it is not as messy as other hotels in the nearby street .... My sincere appreciation to all the staff for their assistance.

The staff were attentive. The place was clean. The room, though small, was luxurious with everything needed to be comfortable, including a pair of ear plugs. The pillows are soft and fluffy, so were the bath towels. Good walking distance to the local night market. Great view from room 607.

This Hotel in the middle of Downtown is just wonderful. Right in the action, view to the Pargoda. The room we had was spacious with all the facilities. The breakfast is one of the best I have every had in a hotel. The staff were very attentive in all ways

When we decided to stay at the Best Western Chinatown, we did so for the location and value, both of which turned out to be great. The hotel is in an excellent spot for exploring the city, with several local landmarks - Bogyoke Market, Sule Pagoda, the Circular Train, 17th street - within walking distance. What we didn't expect was how excellent the service would be. The staff were some of the friendliest we've encountered anywhere! There were no communication issues whatsoever. When we first arrived, we were having trouble finding a SIM card that worked with the local cellular networks. One of the doormen not only told us how to find a shop which sold them, he even volunteered to give us his personal SIM out of his own phone! The rest of the reception crew always handled special requests with a smile, such as packing a to-go breakfast for early morning trips. Ms. Nwe Yin Win was especially cheery, kind, and helpful. The manager set us up with a guide/driver named Cho who took us to local sites as well as a day trip to Kyaiktiyo Pagoda at very affordable rates. In terms of downsides, our room was small and cramped, and the pressure on the sink in the bathroom wasn't great. But the room was clean and had a very comfortable mattress. Overall, this is a great place to stay while seeing the sights of Yangon, even more so considering the price point.

The services provided by the hotel was very satisfactory. The staff could fulfill the needs of the customers in timely manner. The foods are also tasty, hygenic and there are variety of choices. Therefore we can recommend other people to use this hotel and we want to hold the activities again here.

Great location. Friendly helpful staff. Enjoyable buffet breakfast. Comfortable rooms. Only downside was the street noise at night, they do provide ear plugs but double glazed windows would make a big difference.

For a mid price hotel, this facility offered huge rooms, comfy beds with fluffy pillows and a great and helpful staff. A small market is right next door for cold drinks and snacks and the night market is just around the corner. This hotel is in a great location and we fully enjoyed our stay.

We stayed (family of 4) there twice, on our way to Myanmar and back from Myanmar. It is well located within reasonable distance from the main sight-seeings. The Bogyoke is within walking distance. The Sapel spa (traditional Burmese massage) is also very near. So is the 17th street with its livelyrestaurants/pubs. We stayed in the executive rooms on the 10th floor which give a beautiful view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. We could have a good sleep in the bed (great mattress/pillows). The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially the front door staff. Breakfast is very nice with a wide choice. On our second stay, we were given rooms on the 11th floor but we prefer the ones on the 10th. There was a faint smell in the room (11th floor) and the carpet was also uneven in one room, where one could trip if you are not careful. Overall we like the hotel and would stay again. Not to miss TryMe restaurant, round the corner. The food(Japanese, Chinese, Thai etc) is delicious and real value for money.

Central enough hotel but lacking in some services. Staff helpful but English Language skills lacking. Alot of problems with Laundry service with clothes not cleaned properly. Whites had to be cleaned twice and only discovered a day after check out that the colors hadn't been washed properly either, not very happy that only 10 percent was reduced from the bill. If you cant offer a proper laundry service then please dont offer the service at all. elevator very slow with extremely hot unconditioned corridors.

We stayed at the BW China Town on for two days both on our way into Myanmar as well as on our way out. Unfortunately, upon arrival my debit card got cracked and I was unable to pull money from any bank ATM. With the help of Ms. Phyu Phyu we were able to get phone credit, and using her phone call my bank so I could then transfer money to another card. It was a worrisome problem that could have ruined our holiday but was resolved by the BW Staff. Furthermore, despite staying in other comparably priced hotels throughout our two week travel we found the breakfast at the BW Chinatown was the best and offered the most variety. Lastly, it is conveniently located and therefore easy to get around. Thanks again Ms. Phyu Phyu Mr. Luke and Ms. Ajeng

When we arrived we were greeted with a cold drink and friendly staff. We were offered an upgrade on the room which we accepted and had a lovely view. The front door staff are extremely friendly and helpful and gave us directions to 17th street which is one of the main street food areas. There is also a small supermarket just outside which sells a variety of food and drink. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

I stayed at this wonderful hotel in June 2017, the room was small, but very comfy and clean. The staff where amazing the whole time we where there and they always went out their way to help and advise. The food was a great standard, both in the room and in the restaurant , a good bfast buffet with lots of choice.

This is a fine hotel. The staff were very friendly. The concierges, in particular, were very helpful to plan our outings. Buffet breakfast was quite good. We only stayed two nights but I would have been very happy to have stayed longer if we were staying longer in Yangon.

Veryyy good location. Very conveinent to anywhere in yangon. 19th street is just 10 min walking distance away. We took the executive room with pagoda view. The room is not very spacious but it is just nice to stay. The bathroom is separate shower room and a bathtub. The staffs are very friendly. Theres only one life but not so long to wait. Breakfast is awesome. Price is also reasonable. Very recommended. Con- not the actual king size bed. It is two single beds connected to make it a king size bed

My sister and I recently spent over a week at this hotel. The hotel had everything and more that we needed to make our stay there very comfortable. But it is the staff who work there that will last in my memory. From the wonderful reception staff, the porters and security staff, the friendly, cheery housekeeping staff to the always helpful and thoughtful restaurant staff. For these amazing people, nothing was too much bother and everything was done with a smile. Not only were all the staff very professional, but it didn't take them long to figure out what our daily routines were and anticipate and organise things for us. We cannot thank you enough for making our stay as comfortable for us as you possibly could

Stayed here when we arrived in Myanmar and again when we left. Both nights everyone was friendly and helpful. It was next to a street where you could eat on the street with the locals. Also right next star was a small market to buy snacks, water, ice cream, etc. Both mornings we had to leave before breakfast started but the staff packed us box lunches which included banana, cheese sandwich, egg, water and croissant which we enjoyed both mornings on the way to the airport. Room was comfortable with a nice bed, TV with HBO and refrigerator. The view from my first room had the Shwedagon Pagoda so was nice to see that in the evening and in the morning light. The view on the other night was of around the surrounding city area. WiFi worked as expected. Served its purpose for the limited time we were in Yangon.

i like this hotel furstly is location. very convenience with walking distance to China town where I can find lots of local restaurants,small shopping malls. and I chose this hotel for 2nd time as i like their services,facilities,amenities in room, rooms is clean and very good layout for comfortable stay for my one week trip. this is very nice hotel.

The Best Western Chinatown is not quite the quiet oasis in the heart of Yangon. The hotel is well situated in Chinatown but Chinatown is the bustling area of Yangon. The street side of the hotel has a wonderful view of the Pagoda. The hotel is renovating and so the not so quiet. The hotel is a quick taxi ride from the airport for 8000. The staff are friendly and helpful but perhaps a bit too helpful. Questions to the staff are more often than not answered by multiple people at the same time. The restaurant is on the 4th floor and serves breakfast buffet and lunch and dinner. The food is good but not great. Oddly enough the hotel is opposed to taking breakfast in the room but after much debate the hotel staff carried the plate back to the room for me each day. I noted day one two additional individuals inquired as to the option of breakfast in the room. The first room was 1208 with the wonderful view but the room is located adjacent to the rows of HVAC units on the exterior of the building and the vibrations proved to be disturbing at best. The staff were not quick to accommodate the room move despite the move to a smaller room. The second room was 1202 without a view but also without the noted vibrations. Assorted other building mechanical unit noises persisted. Needless to say I am sensitive to noise and vibration. The non view rooms are also the quiet rooms as the road noise is car horns from 6 AM to 10 PM. The HVAC works quite well in the rooms and is quiet and efficient and effective. The internet worked well and is quick enough for day to day usage. Oddly enough a few sites would not load without the use of a VPN. Kaspersky Secure Connection was included in the anti virus software and worked well for the noted pages. The one site of interest was the Thai Airways booking management site. A convenient store is directly next door to the hotel. Day one walk across the street and walk right to Junction City and enjoy the new shopping mall and new food court and the new food market and new western style bathrooms. Junction City is very new and very nice. The current season is wet season and the umbrella proved to be of value both for the rain and the sun. The overcast associated with wet season is a good contrast to the heat and the sun. The refrigerator in the room works well. The hotel water is hot. The hotel needs a lounge area as the rooms are small with little opportunity for individual space. The lobby is not small but overrun with staff. The restaurant is not small but overrun with staff. The one location with a bit of peace and quiet in the hotel is the business area on the 5th floor. The entire staff speaks English but not fluent English. The staff reacted to key words without understanding the question; and as an example I inquired as to the options for a taxi to the airport the next day and the staff hailed a taxi. The tourists from USA are few and far between based on observation. The hotel is very good for Yangon but good for other more high end locations. The $60 room in Yangon is the $40 room in Bangkok as an example.

This is my second long stay visit at this Hotel. Mostly welcome again and experiencing a very good service full of friendliness and courtesy. Some dark points however, starting with the internet which is a real disaster. During the day there is little or no problem but in the evening: nothing works. Surely not uploading which can even take a full night for 2 or 3 messages. The TV has about all interesting channels one can imagine. But some customers succeed in convincing the hotel engineer to shift channels, unannounced and often to great disappointment. The restaurant is one of the best and perhaps the best quality for the price. Discounted wine at 14 US$/bottle and super tender beefsteaks can make dining a very pleasant experience. The buffet breakfast is unmatched. Delicious and with lots of choices which are different every day. The soups are the best I ever have tasted! The only single small elevator is very busy and frequented by all customers over the 12 floors. Carpets in the rooms are also no longer preferred although the rooms are clean and neat! The executive 32 sq.m. room at 70US$/night (low season) is simply a best choice! Location is central and OK. Always taxi available in front of Hotel. I have stayed here a few times during the past 2 years. The rooms are very clean and good value for money. The highlight is the staff, who are very welcoming. Everyone really makes an effort to welcome you to the hotel. It's a good place to stay in downtown Yangon. Rooms are well designed for business / work related travel.

Stayed for 10 nights. Location is good. Staff are courteous. Housekeeping needs improvement as the staff is inconsistent in beverage replenishment. WiFi is slow. I am back for another one month stay. Chose this place again due to the location. Opted for a bigger room as the previous room was a little too small. Breakfast is good. Basically you get what you paid for but do not expect wonders.

We stayed for 4 nights in a executive room on a high floor. The room was big enough for us with a big bathroom. The room had a nice view of the golden pagoda. The room had all the amenities needed and was well set up with a comfy big king bed. Wi fi was so so in our room, it came and went and the signal wasn't strong. There was a bit of traffic noise so if you were a light sleeper that might bother you but we both slept well. Everyone at the hotel was super friendly, efficient and helpful and we were allowed a late checkout. Breakfast was great, good choices and good coffee. In the low season the room offered very good value for money. I would stay here again, lots of action in the streets outside.

We visited Rangoon as a family of 5 & had 2 rooms booked at Best Western Chinatown. Quite enjoyed our stay here. Highlights were: 1. Staff is very helpful - at the reception, in the restaurant. This is a theme across Myanmar where people are just amazingly cheery & helpful. 2. Breakfast spread is among the biggest I have seen in non 5-star hotels. Has enough vegetarian options & if not, they were happy to cook up for us. 3. View - we had a high floor room which gave us a view of the shwedagon Pagoda. Made for splendid viewing in the morning. 4. Location - smack in heart of downtown. Taxis are easily available. Street food is a couple of streets away. Downtown attractions are at walking distance. There is a small conference store nearby as well to buy milk / snacks etc. 5. Rooms & bathroom are very spacious & well kept. Could be a bit cheaper, but I would happily stay here again :)

Very friendly welcome by reception staff and porters. Our porter Francis was extremely friendly and helpful - could not do enough for us. We stayed here twice and both rooms had wonderful views of the Shwedagon pagoda. Rooms were large, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was was very good and a breakfast box was given to us in early check-out days.

they upgraded my room after having viewed a few the day before so it was a great start. the bed was very comfortable so i had a good nights sleep. with my upgraded room i had a view of the hospital and pergoda in the distance. breakfast was international standard, i had poached eggs etc. francis was nice and spotted me as i arrived to help with my bags. Phyu Phyu was very kind with expaining the prices and providing the upgrade.

We initially booked only for 1 night to see if the place is okay and planning to transfer to other hotels if we are not satisfied. However, we ended up staying for 3 nights. The staff are helpful and very polite. The room is spacious, with fast wi-fi, and toiletress are being replinished every day. There was a free breakfast until 10am with wide variety of food and all tastes good. The F&B manager was very nice and engaged with their guests. I was also surprised and at the me time grateful when they gave me a cake as it happened to be my birthday. Overall, it was a great experience staying in Best Western Chinatown Hotel and we will definitely recommend this to our friends and colleagues.

We stayed three nights at the Best Western Chinatown and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is perfect. The rooms are clean, bright and modern. Our rooms looked toward Shwegadon pagoda which was a real treat. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and really added to the pleasure of the stay. They were very attentive when we returned from sight-seeing, meeting the taxi with umbrellas etc. Our favourite was Francis who greased us with a big smile and cool drink on arrival and managed multiple bags without difficulty. We would definitely stay there again.

The hotel located at Good location with clean room and amazing service quality from the staffs. Definitely recommended for those that are planning to visit Downtown of Yangon. I will definitely stay here again during my next trip to Yangon.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The room was clean and well appointed - I loved the shower. The location is terrific, right downtown. The breakfast was by far the best I had in Myanmar with lots of selection both Asian and European. The staff was quite nice, in particular the night staff is very careful checking details; I felt very safe. I ended up changing money here several times as I felt the exchange rate was quite reasonable.

Our group of six friends stayed at the hotel for two nights, checking in on May 19 and out on May 21. We had three rooms on the tenth floor. The rooms were clean and modern. Beginning at check-in, Mr. Pyae Phyo Zaw arranged for us to get settled in our rooms, and helped us in numerous ways during our stay; many thanks to him! All of the staff we met spoke fluent English, and were welcoming and helpful. Our rooms had a nice view of the city, with the Shwedagon Pagoda especially impressive at night. The hotel has an excellent central location, with the city's attractions an easy taxi ride away. The food was very good, with a selection of Asian and Western items. On our check-out day, we asked if it would be possible to extend our check-out time by two hours, and the staff agreed with no problem. As other reviews mention, the traffic noise at night can be heard even on the upper floors, but that "comes with the territory" of being at the center of a busy city. We definitely plan to stay here when we return to Yangon.

The staff was very helpful and great. They upgraded me to a bigger more spacious room on the 13th floor. The views were lovely of the city. The only issue was that as I am a light sleeper I could hear constant traffic and horns throughout the night (even on the 13th floor). I had a flight in the morning and the staff allowed me to grab some snacks for my journey to the airport even though the breakfast bar was not open. Very thankful for that.

Booked 3 double bed rooms in advance via Booking.com but they only had one room with double bed upon arrival. 1. Noises They gave me a deluxe room 808 facing the main street. Super noisy from 5am onwards because their windows were not double glazed and Yangon drivers horn their cars whenever they can. My recommendation is that if you are a light sleeper do not book rooms facing the main street. I then changed my room to one facing behind. Less car horns but still some noises from people. 2. Reception The reception changes USD to Kyats at 1340 while the forex rate is 1370. This is acceptable to me becoz the nearest currency exhange is about 120 metres away and I didn't want the hassle. They only accept perfect notes without any 'teeth'. The two ladies at the reception were polite and courteous. Only issue was their poor proficiency in English. Management should make them memorize the common vocabulary as part of the job. 3. Lifts There is only one lift serving 13 floors so it can take some time before the lift reaches you especially when it is traveling in a different direction. 4. Buffet Breakfast This was the best thing for this hotel. The spread and quality were excellent considering the fact that Myanmar is a third world country. The service was excellent. I ordered 7 minutes boiled eggs and it was delivered fast consistently every day. 5. Concierge The bell boys were very eager to help with our queries and quests for transport. They delivered our luggages to our rooms immediately upon check in and arranged our taxis everytime including opening the taxi doors for us. Excellent service. 6. Rooms Superior rooms were quite small but clean. Deluxe rooms were bigger but can be damp and dusty when there were not many customers booking deluxe rooms. They provide slippers, soaps, shampoo & conditioners so you don't need to bring them. 7. Surrounding area Not much quality restaurants nearby eventhough there are some. Most of the good restaurants need a taxi ride.

afterr 6 weeks, this is like my home. staff have been incredibly nice and helpful. Good 24 hour room service, good restaurant. Great location in Chinatown, lots of action on streets. This hotel represents excellent value for money. Will defintely stay here again. We are actually sad to leave.

We have appreciated the staff always available to provide any information. The breakfeast was one of the best we have got in Myanmar . The room was cozy with a modern chinese design. The ratio quality/price was excellent.

Nice clean hotel with cozy rooms, comfy beds. The breakfast was really nice, selection from 'english breakfast' to local soups and noodles. Great location in the city, visit 17th street for excellent china street food :) Next time we'll visit Myanmar, BW Chinatown hotel will definitely be our place to stay in Yangon.

We stayed at the hotel twice and enjoyed it both times (we stayed overnight during the first visit, then half day after we returned from bagan via night bus, before catching our flight in the evening). The location is good, and close to 19th street with the night market. All the staff were super friendly and swift (receptonists, porters, cleaners). On our last day we were rushing and within 1 minute the porter gave us our packed breakfast, got us a taxi and sorted out our luggages. Also special thanks to Ms Phuy Phuy for all her help and ensuring that we can check in into our room earlier in the morning given we were only staying half day!

Location - The location of the hotel is right in Chinatown area, across Yangon General Hospital. The area surrounding the hotel is a little bit dirty and there were multiple cars parked in front (there is no driveway). It doesn't help that their big generator was right outside, limiting the spaces for cars to park (or drop off guests). Arrival/Concierge - The doormen were very prompt in welcoming and assisting with our luggage. Once inside, they immediately offered us drinks (water and some fresh fruit juice). This was a treat given that it took us 1 hour in traffic to reach the hotel from the international airport. - The concierge were also very kind in helping us negotiate our taxi rides out of the hotel. Take note that taxis in Yangon are not by meter but fixed flat rate. You can change big bills into smaller kyats at the reception. Reception - As genius member, I was given an early check in priority (we arrived at around 9am local time) which was really really appreciated bec we were travelling at the height of summer and it was a ghastly 38 degrees when we arrived. - The 2 ladies in reception speak superb English and was able to communicate properly. - Room charges and room services charges are all in USD. Room/Bathroom - The room is small (we booked the cheapest Superior room). If you are expecting a bigger sized room, I suggest to straight out book their deluxe, instead of upgrading when you check in. Upgrades start at 15 USD. - There are 2 bottled waters replenished everyday, as well as coffee/tea. There is a kettle inside the room that you can use. - Their in room safe is located in the wardrob/closet. - I love that the room we have gotten has a nice sized bathroom and without a bath tub (I'm not sure if the other rooms have bath tubs). However the toiletries could be better. When we arrived I noticed that the body was is half full only, although we didn't use it - the housekeeping team did not bother to replenish this half full bottle. They only replenished those completely empty (shampoo/conditioner). Other toiletries also provided - soap, lotion, razor, toothbrush, comb, etc. Breakfast - We booked the room with buffet breakfast included. - The spread is a good mix of international and local selection. There is always 1 Myanmar specialty dish served. - Fruit juice served - 1 fresh (watermelon, straweberry, papaya, etc) and 1 cordial type (orange/apple) - We stayed total of 5 days, and the food did not even repeat! Room service - The meals you order are a bit expensive based on local rates, however given that we were there in the summer time, it was really difficult to go out at lunch time so we ended up ordering room service 3 or 4 times! - There is a selection of local food served (Myanmar curry) and international stuff (pasta/sandwiches/salads) - I'm not sure why they charge 1 usd for the ice I requested though.

I was given a really small room on the 8th floor with a "fake window" that opens into a wall...the carpeted floor was un-vacuumed. The hotel staff though is friendly and accommodating and very helpful. Just wish they'd teach their housekeeping staff to clean better...

Stayed here for 5 nights. I came to Myanmar with little idea what to expect. I was immediately thrown into sensory overload upon arrival in the city. I was so glad to have checked in to a clean, modern hotel with very warm and welcoming staff. It easily became my refuge from outside, where it's been about 100 degrees F every day. After being food poisoned during a day trip, I cloistered myself in the hotel room and requested a late check-out, which they happily accommodated. The buffet for breakfast was amazing. The spread was more like a lunch buffet. I was here for five mornings in a row and the spread was different every day.

Located in Chinatown area, one hour from airport with the traffic will cost you 8000 to this hotel. We requested some specific room quite..the reception was given all our request, room was spacious nice bathroom, comportable bed, good service and great breakfast, concierge arrange bus ticket for us to bagan. This hotel only have one problem they have only one lift, we spent a lot of time waiting for the lift. Well over all we enjoyed our stay.

We had a wonderful experience at the Best Western Chinatown Hotel. It is well located, in a safe zone, superb staff (anybody extremely gentle and willing to support). The Manager, Mr Nanda, help us in everything and, given that our flight was in late afternoon, granted us a late check out. Super. Breakfast was good and offers anything from Asian to Western style. Clean room, nice shower, wonderful mattress and strong air condition. In one word: recommended.

We had a Deluxe twin bed room with a view to the Shwedagon Pagoda (I made this request when I booked, the price wasn't more expensive than a normal deluxe). Sensitive people might find this side of the hotel with the pagoda view too noisy as it's facing a main road. The room was huge, aircon very quite, big bathroom. The mattresses and pillows very comfortable. wifi quality very good. Breakfast buffet just great although the free coffee is not the best. The staff is very friendly and helpful with tips and restaurants bookings or taxi. We ate there out lunch once, Burmese food, it was very good as well.

Stayed there twice in April 2017. Excellent accommodation and the service and friendly staff were terrific. Breakfast and the omelettes were always a highlight of the day. The fruit juice on arrival at the end if a hard day was something to look forward to. Price was affordable.

This hotel is centrally situated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Even though the room was rather small, it was well maintained. Breakfast had a good spread. We were there during the Thingyan festivals and we appreciated the fact that the hotel provided complimentary high tea with local water festival delicacies. The only issue we had was the ventilation system in the bathroom which we think was not working properly. As a result, our bathroom would occasionally smell bad..(we stayed in room 1102).

We arrived in Yangon and spent first 3 nights here at this hotel...staff were fabulous and so very kind and accommodating! Accommodations were very comfortable and best of all hotels we stayed during our 2 weeks in Myanmar. Bed & pillows comfortable, clean rooms, bathroom very clean, restaurant on 4th floor had good selection. Breakfast had great variety. Staff very friendly. We are leaving for home tomorrow evening and chose to stay at this hotel again one more night before flying for home. Our flight leaves at 1:00 am and staff were kind enough to allow us to have a very late checkout and only pay 50% of the full night fee, which we felt was more than generous. Location isn't the best (in heart of downtown Chinatown) but, would still recommend this hotel to others!

Should be a perfect 5 stars hotel.9 Thank God to give us a wonderful over night right here. If you want to find out a nicest stay in Rangon, should be advise HERE. We took 2 nites hrer with Pagoda View room . I feel happy and sacrificed to what I have seen over the night. If may I talk about breakfast,I feel lively breakfast with both local and international food till me me stay in a restaurant almost 2 hours with wonderful service minded staff. Plenty if smiles cone out form them more than a thousand times.

Suggest to take a taxi instead.

Happened to be here second time and got suite for one night as well. Suites are spacious and well designed with windows. Their breakfast is awesome and suitable for business travelers. Check in was fast.

This hotel in located centrally & not far to walk to 'Scott market.' The customer service is superior from it's front desk to it's concierge. They really cared about us, especially as one member of our group is a disabled OAP. Some of the rooms are amazing with golden headboards, electric roll down blinds next to the bath & city views. Restaurant looks decent with city views from windows.

Room was good for the price. Staff were very helpful. The location has the full market in the streets and allies outside the front door. Hotel food was good and very cheap for the meals served and breakfasts had the full range of food. Rooms are big and clean a great value for money location.

Location was not where I expected. Very busy road n hotel was rather inconspicuous. Staff are friendly. Rooms are average. Just stayed a night. Had dinner in hotel and food was just OK. Breakfast spread is average. All in all I would give it 3 stars

My family really enjoyed our stay in Best Western Chinatown. This hotel has excellent service, starting from the front desk staff, Phyu Phyu, and the dining crew headed by the two managers Kyaw and Aung. They have mastered my kids' favorite dishes and serve us with absolute care! They also placed us in rooms big enough for our needs. Thank you Best Western Chinatown!

Lovely and comfortable room. Free water and peach juice everyday in the lobby which was a nice touch. The location was very convenient and easy to walk to night markets with plenty of foods and things to buy and see. The staffs were very friendly and helpful and help us to bargain with a taxi driver. However the hotel must be near a temple or something because we can hear people chanting all day long which was quite hard to sleep at night.

We had Exec rooms on a high floor facing the street and with a view of the Pagoda in the distance. It's true that t here is quite a bit of traffic noise, but no enough to bother any of the four of us. It's likely the rooms on the other side may be quieter. The breakfast was great with lots of variety and pretty decent bread and coffee. Staff were well trained and helpful, especially a young chap at the front door. Ask for the hotel address to be written in Burmese for the cab drivers, and they will write it on a card with translations for the major attractions - very useful. The location is close to the open-air bbq street stalls around 19th St. There is also a great little bar there with cheap mixed drinks and pretty decent food (can't remember the name, but it's easy to spot). Easy walk to markets and colonial area, picked up the 2014 LP guide to Myanmar for 8000 kyat on the way! We ate in the hotel first night, but there is better outside although, apart from the bbq food, it's not all that easy to find - the popular tourist restaurants definitely require bookings. Interesting street life all around. We all enjoyed our stay here.

Nice lobby with powerful aircon. Welcome drink, check in with payment in cash in US dollars. Upgraded room for free. Room at the 8th floor with no Shwedagon Pagoda view but very quiet. That what we appreciated the most after a long flight from Vienna-Doha-Bangkok-Yangon. Right in the center of downtown, 100 meters from 19th Street - bars, night market. Breakfast very good, excellent choice of local products. Very posh restaurant. Happy with the hotel overall and I do not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. If I´m back in Yangon I know where I will stay. Excellent value for money. Attentive and professional staff.

My wife and me were very pleased to find a very nice room in this hotel. It as a very nice bath that fits two people! A little disadvantage was that it took a lot of time to fill it. The air condition does not switch of after you have left the room, so you enjoy a very nice temperature if you return.

Our room overlooked the Shwadagon pagoda with lovely arrangements, staff were friendly, breakfast wholesome with lot of choices. Very near to the Pagoda. Overall an excellent experience. Will definitely recomemd to others.

Beware the reception desk will try to put you in a windowless, subterranean room no matter if you asked for an upper floor or not. I insisted I have upper floor. Given #808. Still unbelievable traffic noise. A/c in room worked fine. They need to replace single pane windows. Halls, elevator and lobby were sweltering. Breakfast was included...but inedible. Location was best feature...walked to waterfront, boyoke market and around downtown. Took 90 minutes to drive to airport due to miserable traffic at 8p.

So, first of all I was super delighted to have an upgrade to an Executive Room (I booked a Deluxe Double); this was awesome. The room itself will be a delight to anyone who loves gold and yellow coloured decor though I found it all to be a bit much! That being said, the beds were SUPER comfy and the room itself was nice and cozy. HOWEVER, despite being a chain hotel, the windows are still only single paned glass so you can hear ALL the honking AND the loud music outside at all hours of the day. The location is fantastic for walking around and exploring the city (the night market is right outside!) but if you're sensitive to noise at night OR as early as 6:30am, this might not be the place for you! If you do stay here, I'd suggest asking to have a room in the back for potentially a quieter stay, but you won't get the view of Shwedagon Pagoda. Oh, and BRING AMERICAN MONEY to pay for your room AND any meals you have in the hotel.

The bellboys, restaurant and housekeeping staff were friendly. The reception staff in the evening were not very friendly or helpful. The security guard on our first day had no idea where Kadwagyi Lake was, hence we were dropped off by the taxi driver at the wrong location. After that, we sourced our own taxis. The executive room had a good view of Shwedagon pagoda. The location was good, though if you are a light sleeper you definitely won't want to stay here, as the traffic is very loud and seems to last all day and night. The breakfast buffet had great choices. Overall, it was a good hotel.

Really happy with this choice in Yangon - far more sensible price compared to competitors. - great location in Chinatown - clean, modern rooms with excellent AC - good breakfast - super friendly and helpful staff Even if you wouldn't stay in a Best Western elsewhere, I actually rate this one quite highly!

The Best Western Chinatown is centrally located and is within walking distance of the amazing Bogyoke market. Good but small rooms, decent free breakfast buffet. Free and reliable internet. I was there on a holiday weekend, and at least for that weekend the hotel restaurant offered a single fixed choice option for other meals. Cheap cab ride to the airport, cost me 8000 kyat (~$8.00 US). Get the porters to negotiate the cab fare with the cab driver before you leave

We had 5 nights in a mini-suite for an incredibly great price! The location is great, walked to town center, railway station and all over the Colonial Yangon. The hotel has been recently renovated, the staff if helpful, breakfast has great choices... could not fault it if we tried! During the day the road noise is evident, but this dies down by 10 pm. The streets in this area are full of life, stalls, small eateries. Central Yangon has more flashy hotels, but not a cafe in sight, just large brand shops. A 15 km taxi ride from the airport costs US$8

BW always my choice of stay when i am on Myanmar mission. The hotel staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. I always feel BW is my second home. Special thanks to Front Office Staff (lovely ladies) and FB Managers- Kyaw Swar Oo and Aung Than Zaw and the crews (Thet Zaw Tun, Moe Moe,Thin Thin Khaing, Min Min Thant and the rest) for making my wonderful day and putting an efforts in remembering my name, room number and my choice of food and taste (less oil, salty, sugar, onion and garlic free)...

We were on a long trip and needed a place to crash for a few days. We stayed here twice. Once for two nights and once for three nights. I wouldn't call this a bargain hotel, but you get what you pay for in Yangon these days. I've been going to Yangon since 2008 and have been part of the change in 2012. This hotel isn't in the best part of town, but it was what we needed. We needed a clean room, with a great air conditioner, large bath tub, shower stall, clean hot water on demand, and a staff that did not disturb you. If you stay here, stay on the upper floors as far away from the street as you can. We had room 1208 both times, and I requested it because the AC got very cold, which is what I wanted. After being out and about in the country, we needed quiet, cool, rest, and to be left alone for a few days. Each room has a small fridge, hot pot, and large flat screen TV. A quick trip to the grocery store meant we didn't have to leave the room for days and could recuperate from our other travel. So if you want a place to crash that's clean, cool, and has comfortable beds. This is a great place. We didn't do any local site seeing around the hotel, so I can't say anything about that. I've stayed here more than once, and they remember me each year. Probably because I'm the crazy guy who goes into the room and doesn't come out for 48 hours or more.

Went with a bunch of friends and although the hotel is nice it is just too noisy as it is situated on a corner where the buses and cars seem to thing blowing their horns are more effective than the traffic lights. We were also let down by reception not being able to relay messages (even not being able to pass on tickets and confirmation from our tour operator!). Food on the other hand especially breakfast was quite good. Next time I would find a quieter location!

I booked BW Chinatown with my eyes wide open - we'd read the reviews and were well aware to ask for a room away from the main road that would (hopefully) be quieter. After we were booked, I sent an email asking for a quieter room but did not get a reply. We arrived in the afternoon and were upgraded - great. We got up to the room and oh boy, what a racket from the busy main road out front with the constant honking. I called Reception to ask if it would be possible for a change in room - they said they would try and call back. After 20 minutes with no reply, I decided we would give it a chance that night. Yes, the traffic does get better after about 9pm, but you will still hear honking into the night (just less) and it does start early too. Double glazing would be wonderful. If you are a light sleeper, look for a hotel elsewhere off the main road. The water pressure in the room was awful too. The sink flow was sputtering in various directions. The shower's warm and cold water was patchy. Meals at the hotel were good. Breakfast had a good variety of cooked items and breads. There were also a few Asian and one Burmese item (e.g. mohinga fish soup). A curry at dinner was very tasty and fresh (though there were many flying bugs invading our table). The location is convenient to check out the night market and bustling Chinatown. I would look elsewhere for a more peaceful yet well located sleep the next time I'm in Yangon.

We have just spent 4 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Everything was perfect and I'm at a loss with some of the negative comments I have read. OK , it has a small lobby , no gym or pool , and sometimes the lift can be a little slow especially at breakfast time so if you need all that than best go somewhere else and pay 2-3 times as much. The value of the rooms and food for the quality provided is great. ROOMS - Basic rooms are small so it is well worth paying a little extra and go for the Executive rooms. They are a good size with everything you need. All amenities are provided icluding iron , safe etc and there was always plenty of hot water for showering in the morning. DINING - The buffet breakfast has plenty to choose from , both savory and sweet , and it certainly sets you up for the day. We ate in the hotel dining room every night because the food was so good ( we ate mainly Asian dishes ). The staff were all great and VERY attentive!!. There is a Happy Hour? from 3.00 - 11.00pm every day with drinks at 30% off and overall the cost of the food and drinks was extremely good. LOCATION - It was just what we wanted being in Chinatown amongst all the character and chaos of downtown Yangon. Taxis were always available out front of the hotel or nearby. There is some street noise to be heard in the rooms but it is not so loud that you can't get a good night's sleep. The traffic noise eases off a lot after about 9.00pm. We couldn't fault the Best Western and if we hopefully come back to Yangon again this is where we will be staying. Ten out of Ten!! If you don't like the hustle and bustle of downtown areas which are usually very busy and grimey than this may not suit you. Seasoned travellers who enjoy Asian culture will just love it.

After many trips to Yangon, I have found the best hotel in Chinatown. Best Western Chinatown has "best" in its name for a reason. The staff at the front desk are very pleasant, professional and always ready to assist you in any way you need. The staff in the lobby are also highly professional and pleasant. Aung Ko Latt makes an incredible omelet, and the wait staff are their to clear plates and make your breakfast an enjoyable time. The buffet is great. I cannot say enough about the housekeeping either. They went far beyond the call of duty to make sure I was comfortable in every way. If you need a "home away from home," check into the Best Western Chinatown!

This hotel is located in a very busy area with lots of small shops, hawkers and traffic all around. It may seem to be a very happening place but beyond restaurants and a famous lane with street food, the area is very chaotic. Those looking for a peaceful, clean and orderly location should not book this hotel. The rooms are small but well appointed. Staff is extremely polite and friendly. As with many Best Western properties, the hotel is built in a small area restricting an adequate reception and lobby space. There is no swimming pool in this hotel.

If looking for a comfortable stay in a quality hotel, then look no further. Located in old Chinatown the BW features excellent features, excellent service, excellent staff and excellent meals. It is new but does not enjoy a very large footprint, but has 12 floors and unfortunately only one lift which is a bit of a concern when the hotel is busy, because of the delays that result. Also it can be quite noisy because it fronts Anawratha Road which carries a lot of heavy traffic which goes on all hours, but front rooms enjoy a great city view across to Shwedagon Pagoda.

Located in the old part of Yangon this hotel presents similar standards to others in the BW chain - no surprises. The breakfast was very good with sufficient variety to cater for all tastes. The amenities were as expected and the staff friendly and helpful. assisting with an onward hotel booking.
