Read the reviews after I booked so wasn't expecting much but as I was only staying one night I wasn't too worried. The hotel comes with plenty of parking, was presented very well, rooms were modern and clean, bed was extremely comfortable an had one of the best nights sleep in a while! The check out being 12 is a big plus too as this fit perfectly with our arrangements the next day. Great value for money, will definitely use again

Stayed a couple of nights at the weekend good value for money room was clean and warm , buffet breakfast was good too plenty of choice, looked at the reviews and thought ohh no , but to be honest got no complaints, you get what you pay for

Banqueting suite had dirty carpet. Kitchen dirty not functional. Hobs and ovens not working. Cobwebs on walls, dirty work surfaces. Dirty sticky floors.Toilet seats broken in mens. Hotel should be closed down

My friend who is a wheelchair user booked a room online but actually phoned the hotel to ask if they had a room suitable for disabled person & he was told yes.Got to the hotel & was then told the disabled room was already so they gave him a standard room.. through a set of double doors (that he had to push open himself) & at the very end of a really long corridor. The bedroom space was ok but the bathroom was totally inappropriate for a wheelchair user. Staff didnt seem to care that it was a problem for him.he said he would NEVER use the hotel again !!

"In need of a refresh"

Stayed one night for business trip and had meeting rooms booked for the following day. Hotel is run down and the rooms are not up to standard. The first room I was put in was freezing due to the windows being left wide open, the heating did not work and there was mold around the seals in the bath. One of the light switches had black tape over it I'm presuming to inform you it didn't work. After advising the hotel of the issues (who at first did not believe me the heating would not work and it must be me not using it correctly) they moved me to another room. This was only marginally better, there were stains on the seats, mold in the bathroom and mildew around the windows. There is a general feeling of uncleanliness across this hotel some of the plates and glasses were dirty at breakfast and the meeting rooms felt run down. Overall I wouldn't return to this hotel again in a hurry.

"Not Great Yet Again"

After previously complaining about the condition of our room. We were invited back for a complimentary stay with breakfast included.Could not believe the condition of our room yet again, in the same ones as before. From the mould in the bathroom to the plug socket hanging off the wall with the wires showing (considering I was in a family room, not great on health and safety). I had 2 rooms booked complimentary and 1 room booked using yet again 20,000 of my points.The other room in the bathroom you could spin the tap round and there looked like what i can only describe as a boggie wiped on the wall beside the bed. (This was there last time)The room I used with my 20,000 points bathroom had mould and the wall paper was ripped and hanging off the wall.I have pictures for all of the above so if anyone needed these I would be more than happy to forward them on. (BEST WESTERN REWARDS)To give a stronger recommendation you would need to address the cleanliness and the maintenance of the hotel. However, I will say that the staff were fantastic and the breakfast was lovely and fresh.

Came here last weekend and was actually shocked by how appalling this hotel was. Lunchtime plates not cleared , I had to pop into the kitchen to ask for something and it was so filthy I was shocked . The public areas seem OK, if you ignore dirty plates and glasses , but the rooms are crumbling . I have visited here many times over the last few years with all its different owners, but never known it as bad as this. It needs to be closed down and deep cleaned , the a full refurbishment

I was disappointed with this hotel, as I have stayed in quite a few best western hotels and they are relatively good. The room was very cold and quite dustyThe rooms are tired and need an upgrade. The service of the staff was the only savings grace.

Stayed here overnight with a coach trip 14/10/18 well what can I say. Read reviews about the hotel before we came. Reviews were so bad I thought people were being picky.They weren't. Promised we could get a hot meal when we got there myself and my sister found ourselves lucky we did get fish and chips . Rest of the tour group sandwiches and chips. All were nothing special. Breakfast disgusting. Staff rude. Management dissappeared. Room not great either. Staff member said that they need to do better. Judging by the other reviews they have been saying this a long time with no action. Hope tour company avoid using you.

I was on a coach trip and this hotel was used for an overnight stay. Where do I start on arrival kitchen was closed when informed would be open until 10pm (we arrived 3pm). Bed clean , bathroom wasn't the shower cubicle was black mould and mould on the ceiling, so we didn't use it. Breakfast was well a disaster. It was a hot buffet breakfast but when say bacon/eggs ran out you had to wait what seemed forever for more supply and then they only brought out 4 or 5 of said at a time. They definitely need a complete refurbishment and staff training.

Attended a meeting at this venue and it was truly terrible. Not enough parking for attendees. The carpet was dirty & stained. There were insufficient provision of coffee, tea, even water! On arrival, there was no table cloths on the tables and dirty dishes from the wedding the previous evening were left out. I could go on but you get the idea. The food was reheated microwave meals. Not enough food was provided for our group, and delivered at irregular times. There were no power points for charging laptops. And the blinds on the windows didn't work meaning it was impossible to block out light for presentation. Overall, not fit for purpose.

I've stayed here lots in the past and things haven't improved over the years. The shower screens are broken/missing in many rooms. Mold grows across the bathroom ceilings. Door locks are broken/jammed. Lighting in the room is poor and no apologies for being offered a single bed when I'd booked a double. Needs new management and a makeover!

Was going to rate as average, but checkout so poor and follow-up deserves poor. Cheap and relatively comfortable if a little tired in decor. Bed actually gave a good night's sleep but lighting in rooms poor as was WiFi. Food was not exciting, bordering on microwave bland. Had an early start so asked if reception would be available for invoice - yes, 24hrs - 05:00 dead as a do-do - shouted, walked through kitchen - no-one. Called twice for invoice to be e-mailed, still not got it, will have to call a third time. Maybe petty, but just don't expect this poor level of service, even for a cheap hotel. Shame as it's in a good location for my work, but won't be going back.

My room was acceptable but that is the best I can say. There was a constant whining from the kitchen ventilation system meaning I couldn't have my window open. The website say “recently refurbished” when recent is I don't know. The food is bad, of the selection of around 8 main meals simple things like “Chefs Chicken Masala” was not available do to no delivery. The selection of drinks at the bar was also limited and expensive. Cooked breakfast was cold on each of the three days I stayed and the coffee machine didn't make a proper coffee either. To top it all off on my second night here despite being parked in the private car park covered by cctv my van was broken into and items stolen. One of three that night. The police said they had had 7 incidents in September alone and the hotel were doing nothing about it. The hotel manager was about as much use as a chocolate teapot. I strongly advise anyone to stay elsewhere.

I don't know where to start, been traveling around the world never had any problem or seen anything like this place. I booked this Hotel for two night to enjoy a holiday in London with my girlfriend before I book this place it shows a different location which means is near the central but once the payment confirmed it shows another location is just outside London, I had no choice but to sleep somewhere so we spend £70 taxi and Underground to find this Hotel. The Hotel was in a countryside in very poor condition and completely Misleading description. When we arrive they give us a room and its completely different from what they advertise for, after all the room was very noisy we could not sleep that night I called the Hotels.com to cancel it and they speak to the Hotel they were agreed to refund me one night, okay tomorrow I went the reception they denied the refund. They ruined our Holiday to London had to book another Hotel for way less and in central London. Beside this, the staff was very rude when I ask for a refund. I do not recommend this place at all. "Lost in the forest"

I think the best way to describe this hotel is 'tired'. It's seen better days and in need of a complete re-furb. The public areas are outdated and the carpets a little tatty, On check in they charged me for breakfast, but did credit it later when they discovered their mistake. The room was OK, just enough room for two people with 5 weeks worth of luggage.Bed was a small double, and bathroom also very small. Breakfast was buffet.and again the breakfast room needs updating. Food was OK. On the plus side, the location is spot on for Essex and East London, close to the North Circular Road and the M25. Right on the edge of the forest so superb walks through peaceful wooded countryside. Just what we needed after 30 hours of travelling. In truth we would have slept on a clothes line, so the double bed didn't really trouble us as we were only staying one night. Someone else wrote about the local pubs (wish I'd seen that post). As you leave the hotel turn right and go down into the village. We turned left and found nothing great, but found the village pubs next morning on our way out. In summary an OK hotel for a one night stay. If you're looking for that little extra, look elsewhere, this is a basic hotel.

"Rooms filthy"

Rooms were poorly maintained and filthy, and there was poor bar service, New Zealand Sauvignon out of stock, as was the Shiraz ! And bed linen didn't smell fresh carpet in room dirty and sticky I won't be returning

"Peaceful stay"

We had read previous reviews regarding people that had already paid in advance to stay at this hotel only to be told on arrival day they were asked again to pay. So armed with a copy of my receipt I checked in and the same thing happened to me. The Manager then came in and sorted this out for us with a few clicks of the computer. So advice to people that stay here bring copies of receipt in case of any confusions. Now for the hotel....... I booked up before reading any reviews and just a few weeks before arriving I decided to check some out. They seemed on a whole to be quite poor reviews. So let me say after staying here our pleasantly surprised we have been. The manager friendly, bar, restaurant and reception staff all polite and happy to help with any query and room cleaned everyday. The buffet breakfast as much as you want was lovely. No fresh fruit was available on the four mornings we ate there, but you can't have everything! We had two complementary evening meals with our package stay but due to other commitments only dined there once. It was OK but not as good a choice as other Best western hotels we had stayed in. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable with our room overlooking trees with no noice we both had brilliant sleep on all four nights. The hotel is less than fifteen minute walk from Highams Park rail line, which ran every fifteen minutes to London liverpool street station. There are two pubs nearby one of which is only a three minute walk downhill. We booked this hotel via phone directly through to Best Western head office and was given a fantastic deal. So we would recommend and will definately be using this hotel again. So if you looking for a Hotel within easy reach of central London and don't want to pay a Kings Ransom for the privilage then this is the Hotel for you.

"Ideal base for London trip"

We've stayed here a couple of times and it's ideal for London. Reasonable price (substantially cheaper than staying in central London), free parking all weekend and the hotel is just £5 taxi ride from the South Woodford Tube on the Central Line and within 1/2 hour you're at Oxford Circus. Taxi rank outside the station makes it easy to get back too regardless of time or day. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the bar is small and reasonably priced and there was plenty of hot and cold food and drink for breakfast. We'll definitely be looking for a bargain stay to come back in the future.

"Fine but probably wouldn't return "

Stayed here for work for a single night. It was a handy location and a good price. It also had free car parking and walking (just about) distance from tube stop. First off all some other reviews complained about staff. I dealt with several reception staff with questions and help on tubes etc, all were excellent. Very helpful, polite and welcoming. The exterior of the hotel and car park really aren't very pretty or inviting I'm afraid. That didn't bother me especially as I was there for work. I'm not really sure what the owners could do either as it's just the style of the building. The interior has had a recent looking refurb with some nice touches. It's a little more stylised rath6than homely but again fine by me. The room was new looking, smart and clean with most things you'd expect in a basic hotel room. TV, shower, etc all worked fine and the WiFi was actually pretty good which I find rare in hotels even though it's so important to most travellers, especially business guests. I didn't eat dinner in the restaurant as the menu and reviews put me off. I did have breakfast though and was very pleased I'd avoided it the night before. Plenty of cereals but one of those horrible toasting machines for toast and only apple juice for cold drink. These are big deals to me but bit disappointing. The cooked food was help yourself but the hash browns were almost chewy and the only egg option was a very scary looking dried out pot of scrambled. The sausages were good quality and bacon was OK but I'd have to say as hotel breakfasts go it was pretty poor. Overall I'd say it's not a bad hotel for practical purposes if it's cheap enough but I wouldn't expect much from the breakfast and I probably wouldn't bring my GF here, it wouldn't impress.

"Incompetent staff"

Dreadful hotel. After paying for 3 rooms for my family to stay for 2 nights the hotel insisted they pay again as no record of my payment. When returning to the hotel none of my family could get in to their rooms (which happens quite a lot apparently!) With a 4 year old child and a my sister needed her cancer medication, they sat in the reception until 04.30!! Before access could be gained in to their rooms! The staff then argued the toss about a refund! They messed up the bookings, they made us pay twice, they argued about a refund. Shocking hotel. Do yourself a favour- stay somewhere else!!

"Funeral wake"

Was worst even Iv ever had the displeasure of attending Staff did not care that there was no stock behind bar, they argued over what little stock there was, food was terrible, staff couldn't even be bothered to clear any glasses bottles or plates 4 hours after the wake had started, Pure and simple wasn't the first visit but certainly is the last Disgusting service

Have been staying here on and off for years, purely because it's convenient to where we want to be and unfortunately it has never been any different. As they have no trouble filling the rooms they obviously feel they don't need to try. Think some rooms have been refurbished but we never seem to get one! This weekend stayed in room 218 and it's very tired, grubby and dated. There was something unspeakable on the wall beside the bed which l didn't investigate too closely! When we arrived the bed settee was also made up so l spent quite a while dismantling that so we could sit on it. It wasn't very clean but l used the quilt to cover it. The bedlinen was clean and there were loads of pillows although they were all the same sort and a bit too thick for me. There was no handset for the TV and a local loony in reception monopolising the poor receptionist so it was quite some time before l could ask for one. Like another reviewer we also had the problem with the Chinese knocking on the door, not sure what all that is about! The bathroom was OK although the shower was either very hot or boiling! The breakfast was nice, hot and tasty with a good choice. Would probably stay elsewhere if there was somewhere available though. Its rather pricy for the quality you get.

This is a very tired hotel and is also not the cleanest I've been in. The bathroom was very poor and dated. I went in the rear entrance and had the pleasure of seeing into the kitchen - I wouldn't each there after seeing it! With a title of Best Western Plus I was expecting this to be an above average offering - I have no idea what the Plus relates to!

The hotel Failed abismally to run this event. Poor planning a lack of staff, low quality food some of which was stale.lack of bar facilities with little stock and the bar was being cleaned on our arrival! Staff seemed disinterested and lacked organisation from the management. Please do not book an event here unless you are confident these issues will be address for you

We needed a hotel within easy reach of Chingford, so stayed here as it was close by. Although in a busy area, we were pleased to find the hotel was situated in a quiet spot with lots of parking. We arrived around 8pm & got checked in very quickly. All the staff were very helpful & friendly. Our room was a decent size & clean, but we stayed on the hottest night of the year & only two fanlight windows opened. A fan was provided which we had on all night to move the air around, but it was rather too hot! We only had a double bed which is unusual these days, most hotels tend to have Kingsize beds. The bed could have done with a topper on it to make it more comfortable. The bathroom was very small & the shower screen was far too small & it was impossible to have a shower without soaking the floor! The shower head was loose & needed fixing to the wall again. Breakfast was buffet style in a very pleasant dining room which was quite spacious. There was a good choice of hot & cold foods including cooked breakfast,cereals, pastries,toast & yoghurts. There wasn't any fruit at all which was unusual. This hotel met our needs for an overnight stay & considering how close it is to London was good value for money.

Just to stress, this review isn't about the staff. They are genuinely quite friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the hotel, in my opinion, isnt what you would consider best western “plus” material. The hotel needs a complete face lift. My bedroom door clearly had some damage to the handle but it was just painted over. The room has several cracks in the paint work underneath the window seal and by the “wardrobe”. The TV has a middle 1/4 which is a slightly different colour to the rest of it. There's no air conditioning and the fans in the rooms were by no means adequate to detract from the heat. A bit of internal investment by management/corporate would do this hotel the world of good. I'm glad I only paid 46 for the room rather than the quoted 149 on Trivago. There's no chance in a month of Sunday's that a room here would be worth that!

I was stayed in this hotel for three days . on my first day they placed me into a room which was extremely hot without a air condition and even a fan , they promised to exchange a room for me on the next day evening as no room was available on the same day. On my second day before I went out, I left the signal “do not disturb” on the door which mean that I do not want cleaner to clean my room, but in the evening when I came back, my room was cleaned and they packaged my everything into my luggage ! They even through my wet underwear into my luggage with my clean clothes which means all my clothes became wet because of the wet underwear ! This is unbelievable and really annoyed me ! This mean in this 30 degree hot weather, I have nothing to wear ! The most terrible thing is when I complaint to the manager who's name is ahsn, a India looking guy , he was blaming everything to me, he said that is was my fault because I did not exchange my room on time ! My question is , as a hotel , no matter what reason I did not exchange my room on time , is this right to came into your guests room and touching their personal belongings without their permission ?! Very disappointed and I feel I was naked in front of everyone , be treated very badly !

Hotel was an absolute steal for what you get. Breakfast is very good and staff were always extremely helpful. Rooms are tidy and well appointed, bathroom could do with updating, but other than that, I couldn't grumble too much and simply don't see this tired nonsense that other people are whining about. Will be top of my list to check next time I'm down in London.

Avoid staying here! Grubby rundown hotel unworthy of the Best Western name. Untrained staff, very unprofessional, I was unfortunate to be within earshot of the barmaid rowing with the person who was working in the kitchen, the foul language would have made a sailer blush! I would have said chef but no qualified chef would ever have created such poor quality breakfast, can't even separate bacon to cook evenly so the choice was rock hard and raw at the same time. Tasteless poor quality, Not one piece of fruit! I stayed here at the beginning of July 2018, on the 3rd floor with a lovely view of the bins and the contractors vans which at 6am were being loaded and unloaded very loudly. So no chance of sleep, not that I had any with the temperature in the room, the small opening windows were gaffa taped shut! No air! I asked for a fan and was told they didn't have one? The rooms NEED a makeover, the bedding was clean and the only positive thing I can say is the maid was very nice and cleaned as best she could in this grubby dive

Staff are so rude shouting screaming at each other using swear wordings, no ac working really hot rooms, nights were sleepless due to the noise and heat. Never would recommend, even the rooms were not to standards.

OK where to start first night staff constant swearing about my friend about he's food walking past while I'm eating he didn't know where he was but he was changing rooms because of bodily fluids was on the wall. The food is disgusting and bought from Iceland's or something and charging expensive prices, the staff don't care about anything and not enough of them because they are stressing. wasn't informed there was prom going on when we checked in and find out the music don't turn till 12 am it's so loud in my room when I've got to get up at half 6 tried to talk to manager but the reception (black hair with glasses) told me there's no manager and won't let me talk to him, told her that after 11pm your not allowed music on she said that I'm lieing and proved to her on police website then apologied then calls me f*** idiot while I'm walking away, very worst place I've been very shocked and also ! Your key cards don't work on the door and the Chinese people are knocking people's doors at 1am as well very shocking don't use

Tired and dated hotel, the check in receptionist needs a lesson in customer service and people skills, the room was tired , wallpaper coming of walls, the carpet sticky and dirty, the headboard had dirty marks. The bedding was clean and bed a little hard. Bathroom was clean and tidy but still needs updating. The restaurant needs a makeover, however the restaurant staff were terrific, the food was very good , the restaurant manager Kristina was absolutely fantastic, she went out of her way to make sure that the food and her staff were excellent. The restaurant staff and kitchen chefs were fantastic ?? Check out receptionist gentleman was courteous and friendly. Kristina and her restaurant staff and kitchen staff are the only decent thing about this hotel.

We booked the hotel as attending a 40th birthday in the area. Lovely welcoming staff, really friendly. Comfortable rooms and slept so well. Good toiletries and facilities. We had a meal before we headed to the party, and it was good. Breakfast was buffet style, and luke warm but no big deal.

Room was comfy, although dark and old fashioned. Receptionist was lovely but with 8 people waiting to check in more help would be useful. Bar staff useless. Too busy preparing set up than serving - so went without drinks. Despite waiting at bar for 15 mins Breakfast was ok, easy buffet, everything you need except Yoghurt which they didn't have. So good sleep but that's about it. Oh and the frozen bank account because of the security deposit they do for any damage etc (which I get) but it has taken days to come clean from account.

If this had been the first Best Western hotel that we had stayed in then it would certainly have been the last. Check in was abysmal. Our daughter had enquirer if a late check in was o.k. The hotel stated that the reception was manned 24 hours a day. When we arrived at midnight there were two people sitting at the closed bar and nobody behind reception. There was no bell to ring and eventually someone into the reception area with a Hoover. This person checked us in. The carpets in the corridors were absolutely filthy as was the carpet in the bar area. Paintwork left a lot to be desired as well. The room was passable but not brilliant. The hotel staff were not very helpful and did not even look as though they were staff. All in all not an experience I would like to repeat.

The staff in this hotel seem friendly, albeit stressed on occasion. The hotel itself has the feel of a high traffic hotel where various parts are looking tired and need some work. The shower has stained grouting which looks unsightly. The bedroom carpet is stained and looks like someone had a nose bleed and there are cigarette burns on the work surface in the bathroom, not the hotels fault, I agree, more down to a selfish guest but still unsightly.

Its dire, the only good thing about this hotel is it's bedding and location. Its really run down and in need of renovation. Considering how busy it was I'm surprised they spend literally nothing on upkeep. Old fashioned bathrooms, small beds, horrible carpets, dirty walls and to cap it off a cockroach in the lobby. We made a real blunder by having lunch, not good and the smell of cooking fat is awful. Cheap and nasty wine selection. Breakfast was just ok - greasy but only just ok. No I would not be recommending it and won't be going there again.

Our family of 3 stayed in a so-called family room for 2 nights last weekend. Disaster Staff at reception hopeless.The room had a small double and a pull-out sofa bed.The room was too small for 3 people and the beds within. The small double was poor and the sofa bed was terrible, so bad you could not sleep on it as the metal bars and springs were sticking up into your back, the old thin matters that sat on top was not enough to save you from the agony. When I complained to reception the lady said that the website stated the family room had a pullout sofa bed. I stated the bed should be fit for purpose and it was not. She said there was nothing she could do.I asked for the manager and he just repeated the same.We put the excuse for a mattress on the floor and that's where my daughter slept. Poor response to our complaint and no action was taken except to say they would pass on the information to the management. Bathroom terrible, no shower curtain, water everywhere. Poor cleanliness.

Stayed for one night the day before the London Marathon, the Hotel was almost full and was indeed full the night after and we had to go elsewhere. Upon reading some of the reviews you would think you were paying for the Savoy (quite dear but nice) whereas you are paying not much more than some hotels in London charge for overnight parking!! The hotel is friendly, clean, recently redecorated and if you think the bar is overpriced....well stick to the free water. They care, they asked was everything OK? The car parking is free and I think it is under new management. Your photographs are well out of date, one even showing the old hotel name. For our second night we moved to a nearby Marriott which was over double the price but certainly not that better. Ideal location for a ramble in Epping forest and South Woodford. Thanks.

We booked this hotel as we were attending our best friends daughter's birthday party. They were all stopping here so we thought it would be lovely to be all together as we don't see them as much as we'd like Upon arrival we were met by a lovely receptionist we was extremely friendly and helpful. We awaited our friends in the very expensive bar area. Our room wasnt too bad. The bed was large and comfortable. Tea and coffee were provided (no fruit teas or hot chocolate though) and a very lonely shortbread biscuit each. I had to go to reception to ask for some bottled water so my husband could take his medication , the night receptionist did try to charge me for it until I pointed out there had been none in our room when we arrived). The bathroom looked OK at first glance but when you looked properly the bath was all scratched, the grouting was dirty and it just didn't look inviting. We were led to believe there was a residents bar but upon arrival back from our party the bar area was all closed. This did not please some of our party. Breakfast was OK. Nothing miraculous. Passable bacon, sausages were bordering on bland, scrambled egg had not been seasoned. Two of the birthday party ordered extras, Eggs Benedictine.. Which was extremely poor - the muffin was not toasted and the eggs were 'snotty'., poached eggs were also ordered but they were sent back to the kitchen also chirping . Now please don't assume I'm a food snob, but if you are going to offer certain foods you should ensure you have a chef/cook who can actually cook them. A range of cereal, fruit, pastries and toast was also available. All in all the hotel was relatively clean and comfortable, but would I return... No I'm not sure I would

Bed is ok ,bathroom is horrible and old, room smelt of mould , nice size room just needs updating but very noisy was woken up at 5.15am by very loud drunk people outside room last time I stayed here was woken by cleaners at 7am so it does have a noise issue , reasonably priced but could be so much better breakfast ok but very busy and lots of things had run out and they were struggling to keep them filled up staff could do with learning how to smile ,I stay as it is close to family I visit but wish they could just sort out a few issues

We spent 5 nights in the Epping Forest BWP and were completely delighted by our experience. Visiting our new grandson and his parents nearby, we used the hotel as a base and found the facilities perfect for our requirements. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, shower/bath in good condition, good sink and vanity area, toilet immaculate. Bed was a standard double, so a little snug, but comfortable, room furnishings were ideal with a large TV for keeping up with the Commonwealth Games! Overnight was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was good, pastries excellent, fruit salad superb first morning and OK thereafter, fried foods good if a little tired by the time we got to them (in no early morning rush so attended in last half hour of service each day, so not surprised by this) Staff were very helpful and very welcoming, from cleaners to receptionists all engaged in a greeting and smile each time we encountered them, all were attentive and on the ball. Really enjoyed our stay, with a small person growing up nearby, we will certainly be back!!!

We have stayed at this hotel twice now and intending to return. It is in a perfect location for our needs. Very nice, spacious & clean and has everything you need. Staff are very efficient and pleasant and nothing is too much trouble. Very nice breakfast selection, with option to pay extra and have for example eggs benedict. We had evening meal which was lovely and well presented,even nicer than we expected.

So very disappointing. Booking this hotel with a hope of getting something a little special for a couple of days of work in the area. The Best Western brand has traditionally carried with it a feeling of quality - think of the name - 'BEST' Western, and this site is a 'Plus', I thought it must be good, and I was looking forwards to staying here. You've let me down. Arriving at 1930 Hrs on a Sunday, the place didn't seem to be too full - car park certainly didn't have many vehicles in it. Going via the entry road, a barrier opens, and I parked up. I then noticed the exit barrier was up, and a car was driving the wrong way into the car park. Seems actually this is the norm. Pointless having an entry really. Going to the main front doors, the door closest from the car park has a loose piece of paper hanging off it…. Lifting it back into it's previously cellotaped position, it says "Use other door". The feeling of foreboding sets in. Things are broken before I even enter. Reception could be quite nice, but, all seems a little vacant. Everything is grubby. Loose light fittings, marked reception counter, and great… the staff are too busy to acknowledge me immediately. "Good Afternoon" I say, in a bright and cheerful voice, Ah, this brings some life into them. I announce who I am, and how long I'm staying for, and this kickstarts one of the worst check in experiences I've ever had. Check in should be simple. A pleasant welcoming experience, uncomplicated, informative and swift. Not here. Card Pre authorised online… "Can we see your card" No problem… "Payment will be"… no problem…. "If you want breakfast its £7 now or £10 in the Morning", Yup booking says I want breakfast on both days "Do you want breakfast tomorrow?" Yes. "and the day after?" Yes. "we will take that payment now, contactless. "If you want anything from the bar we need Pre Auth of your card. £50" (So hard to replicate the manner in which this was blurted out - but - sure, go for it. So, my card has had 3 transactions on it in such a short time - Urgh…. Know how much this costs Best Western? Know how much it can cost someone with a business bank account? The Check in process should be - greeted with a smile: "Good evening sir, Welcome to The Best Western Epping, Could I take your name sir? Thank you sir, I see we have you down for two nights? Is that right? Excellent, I see on the booking, you would like our fabulous breakfast too, is this right sir? Fabulous, so, that's a total of xxx for room and breakfast (Here's just 1 transaction), Sir, whilst we have your card, would you like me to Pre Authorise for meals in our fine restaurant, or perhaps snacks and a drink at our bar whilst you're here? Marvellous Sir, so, First things first, here's the payment for the room, and breakfast, if you could please enter your pin….. thank you…. And here's for the pre authorisation…. Thank you sir" Not hard is it. Nope. I just got told the card wasn't going through (User error. Not my card). Next issue? Oh. Room booked is a twin. Why's this an issue? Who cares? I only want a bed. I'll sleep on the floor if I must. Oh - I kinda get it, you're thinking a double would be better for me? Well, the way to deal with this common one (Customers not figuring out Twin rooms from Double rooms) is to say: "Sir, I can see you've booked a twin room - this is a room with 2 beds in it. Will you be joined by someone else - or perhaps you'd like a double room, with a larger bed?" Not "You got twin room" (sic) and look at me as if I had just plonked the shrunken head of my grandmother on your counter, leaving me to figure out where you're going to. Apparently I was lucky "You are lucky", I was told so. Erm. Thanks for that. I guess that means you've given me a room with a bigger bed? Or, did the tarot cards say I'm going to meet a new beautiful life partner? So, off I troddle to my room upstairs after finally getting my card. . What is up with the décor in this place. The carpet looks like some bad modern art. The doors are just chipped - I can see why - I've got to bash through them to access the stairwell. Get to the room, and really. Come on. The carpet in here looks like the camouflage pattern of a third world army, completed with dubious stains. Everything is wrong in this room. It's dark, dreary, tired, and presented like something out of the 60's. There's very very questionable marks on the wall. The curtains are cut too long, and just… look at the pictures. This is a bad B&B standard. Not a "Best" or a "Plus" standard. Really, I get it, You've got nice soaps, and biscuits for the tea, but that's it. I sit on the bed. What is this? Wooden planks? Firm isn't the word. Not sure how I'll sleep tonight… oh, and my favourite - these rooms aren't soundproof at all. Guest one side (a couple) is quite loud with the chatter and laughter, Guest the other side (a couple) is mid mating. Awesome. It's a cross between a comedy show and blue movie. Better hit the bar. Wont be skyping the kids tonight. I head for the restaurant… to find two members of staff propping up the bar, I point through to where I think the restaurant is and am told "Yeah, sit down and we'll be with you in a moment"…. Ok… How about "Yes Sir, if you follow me, " etc. The décor here sucks. Yellow panel doors, painted white walls, complete with scuffs, cutlery laid out on tables with napkins without much care or thought, wine glasses clean, but water residue stained. Shortly arrives a waitress to take my order. Asking if I was with "The Business", well, I am with a business, yes…. So what do you mean? "The business, The business??" Oh God. No idea what you're on about. I'm on business. My card is pre authorised "You've given your credit card to reception?" No. They've pre authorised my debit card at reception, they don't hold a credit card of mine. Quite simple, Pint of Coke, and let's try the Chicken Tikka - it's Chef's speciality so it seems - homemade. Service was just substandard (as in communication). Food arrived. No care or attention made in presentation. Chicken is Chicken. It was cooked, thank God, but - the speed of it, obviously this is pre cooked. The tikka side of things, it's just tikka paste at the bottom of the bowl (Making this inedible) and grease water. Rice is rice, but again, the speed of it, it's possibly not conventional rice. Nan Breads - they were nice. Guess they came from a packet. A man on the other table complains about his steak. It's bad. Waitress doesn't offer resolution. After he leaves, I hear her telling other guests not to try the steak. Awesome. Once I'd given up trying to eat this, I desperately needed another Coke - due to the burning of the paste. No service at all, so went to the bar. Seriously needed to cool myself down, so ordered ice cream, and a half of coke. Coke never arrived. But the ice cream did. I guess it would have been nice if it wasn't 10% frozen water. I guess it's quite old and has been in the freezer since last summer. As I leave I get "You've given your credit card to the desk right?" This is madness. I'm going to bed. Back in my room, the two lovers are still at it, and the woman with the mad laugh is finding something else funny. It going to be one of those nights. Great. Sleep wasn't so good that night. Morning comes, Shower is terrible. See photos. Breakfast was good. For £7 - this is good. I Leave for a days work. On return, I float in… not even acknowledged. Going for round 2 in the restaurant, I'll try something else. The nightmare continues. How many times do I need to give my room number? Really, Give order, asked if I have a meal deal with the company (What company is this?). No, put it on my room. Room number given. Woman from bar (Really miserable) comes and asks my room number. Waitress comes and asks for room number. So. When you serve food, the plate should float down to the table. Not be dropped down with a bang. Ditto the drinks. This is a resounding theme for all guests here. It's like I'm a disliked cat getting a bowl of dished up cat food. Burger and chips… ok… but salad was prewashed? Not fresh at all. Dry, and awful. From the kitchen, all I can hear is the chef complaining about life. The miserable bar woman talking to her. Whinge whinge whinge. Order desert, give room number. 5 mins later, waiter arrives, asks if this is with the company… NO! Put it on my room. Dissapears, comes back, asks for room number. All I can then hear from the kitchen, is repeatedly my room number being talked about loudly. Waiter comes back, and asks for room number again. Now - this waiter was very good - young guy - switched on, and quite peeved by whats going on behind closed doors. Comes back again a moment later and asks for the order again, and room number. He can see I'm starting to loose it. Manager type now arrives, starts educating staff in the public areas about how to take an order... "You must write the number on the paper"... oh come on. More food comes out, dropped onto other tables with a clunk by the female waitress. Ice cream arrives… all ok with this. I go back to my room. How can something so simple, be so hard? Next morning, breakfast was again good, and this time, service excellent. No one to collect room number at podium, so help myself. Waitress came out from the kitchen, and only approached me for room number after Id finished eating. "Good Morning sir, could I have your room number please?, thank you, how was your breakfast". Little things, big difference. This place seriously needs staff training. It needs A deep clean, and a maintenance team who actually look after the aesthetics of things. I am utterly disappointed.

Stayed for one night. My credit card was cloned after paying for a meal in the restaurant. Poor cleanliness in the restaurant. I have had no response from the hotel in relation to this. I would definitely not recommend.

If this is a best western plus I wouldn't like to see a best western standard. Check in was very very slow 3 or 4 screens but only 1 person working them. Food was just about passable but very basic bland menu. Room was clean & tidy but nothing exciting. For the money I guess it was ok but not really a pleasure

Brings a new meaning to Faulty Towers, cold rooms, terrible restaurant, ordered a burger and chips, hardly difficult to cook and was told that they could not do chips because their oven was broken and was then presented with a Burger and crisps for an evening meal, worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Keep away at all costs!!!! Cold breakfast and staff that obviously dont want to be there.

Disappointed with this supposedly Best Western Plus Hotel. Booking in at reception was somewhat difficult. The heated towel rail in the bathroom did not work and was not fixed after being reported. Pretty slow bar service. Hotel a bit tired overall. Not what I have come to expect from Best Western Plus rated hotels.

There are a lot of bad reviews for this hotel and whilst there are some issues if you can secure a room at a discounted rate its good value as room was clean and bed comfortable and a better than expected buffet breakfast. The room did have some cracks in wall by door and shower cubicle very small + hot tap in sink had a leak and central heating made irritating pinking sound but at the rate I paid for one night it was okay. The main issues for me were the very inconsiderate guests - 3am woken by a group of noisey people returning and then another at 4am and another at 5am. With that in mind I think I would not stay again on a Saturday night. Also cleaning staff in the morning were using the guest lift which I do not think is right.

staying in the modern day equivalent of faulty towers. Walls are so thin I could hear my neighbour struggling to find the right switch for the light as I had earlier in the evening and lots of movement on the landing in the early hours of a midweek morning. The bathroom is so snug that I'm virtually sitting on the toilet roll dispenser when using the loo. At breakfast not enough plates, table settings not laid just used tables, no hot water in the machine to make your tea. Porridge seems to contain both salt and sugar.

Booked on business for two nights.. the ONLY good aspect of this hotel is staff who are mainly east european who are polite and try to please and car parking. Last night due to a function which took over the restaurant the rest of the guests were on tables that amounts to eating in a corridor. My food was overdone. The tables are not clean. The place was freezing. My room was also cold early in the evening. The iron supplied was next to useless. I did not eat hot breakfast because tables dirty does not exactly give me much faith in the general hygiene. Coffee machine not working so an urn supplied. Got back tonight .. problems in kitchen.. gas not delivered .. where am I .. the third world .. so cannot provide most of the menu which is rubbish anyway-- burger pizza etc.. it needs a refurnb .. new management and Best Western as a group should be ashamed

My daughter and I stayed for two nights in February to celebrate a friends wedding. Overall the rooms were clean, but the general impression is of a tired hotel in need of refurbishment. The wedding buffet was lovely, breakfasts acceptable, evening meal uninspiring. Having been assured before our visit that gluten free options were available it was obvious that staff had too little knowledge of this fairly common need, choices were too limited. Most staff were friendly and willing, one was offensive and oppressive. Billing was, and 9 days after our stay remains problematic, the hotel is still unable to resolve the overcharging of + £50 which is wholly unacceptable. Repeated apologies do not make up for proper action, and a multitude of excuses. I would not stay again and could not recommend, despite the close to Epping Forest location being very attractive to me, Renee on reception offered the best customer service during our stay, and in subsequent phone calls - I suggest her skills would be of value to an alternate establishment.

Well what can i say. You get what you pay for. One night was more then long enough. The room was warm even if the heating kept banging. Bed was very firm. lighting and decor dated. The bathroom was one of the worst i've ever come accross. Positives. Free parking. Shower cubical rather then bath. Negatives. Bathroom very old. Shower is tiny, The temperature of the water fluctuates too quickly. Found blood on the ceiling. The furniture was well past it. It just felt dirty. The whole hotel needs a refurb.

We were working nights & were put in room 225 the radiator was constantly banging so after trying to sleep for a few hours we finally had enough and requested another room this time it was room 306 the window was broken and would not shut properly so we put towels and a cushion against it which helped a bit the lighting was Higgle de piggledy You couldn't switch the light on near the bed and it was connected to the bathroom so if you turn the light off it switched all the lights off including the bathroom we have stayed here twice not our choice the breakfast was cold yet again even though it had just been brought out bathrooms need regrouting and rooms need updating wallpaper peeling and USB sockets

Me and my partner stayed in this hotel at the end of November. I have to say, I am amazed! The rooms were big, and the bed was massive ! So comfortable ! Bathroom also very nice ! Could not fault it whatsoever ! We had few drinks at the bar in the evening, and the guy who was working behind the bar didn't have a clue what he was doing, but then the girl stepped in and she served us quickly ! The only thing i would suggest would be a bit more room for outside sitting and drinking. Apart from that I cant say anything bad about this Hotel. All the people who worked that night were so friendly and helpful ! :) Thank you !

We stayed 2 nights in 2 rooms and were so disappointed again. Having read some ok reviews we were willing to give the hotel a second chance, having had an unsuccessful stay in 2016. Food very poor, staff varied from friendly to indifferent and room quality dire. Needs much care and attention and upgrading to even a basic standard. Not that cheap either. Will not be giving it a third chance!

Good internet. But! The food was awful. Had fish and chips and the fish was soggy grey and quite nauseating. Avoid the food and you'll have a good stay!

My husband and I stayed here and will not be returning. The room was really cold and the quilt cover was so thin I was freezing during the night . We went to the bar and the staff member behind the bar was slow and inexperienced. The draught beers where off as there was a problem with the pumps . The hotel is in need of a revamp , there are stains on the carpets and the door to my room needed a good paint .

Plenty of Free Parking I was welcomed to the Hotel Reception by efficient pleasant staff. The Room was spacious it had a large double bed, air con, bath & shower. The WIFI had good coverage all over the Hotel. The Bar was well stocked and run by friendly polite staff.

Booked as a convenient stop on a visit to London. Excellent price of £47.50 for 2 plus free breakfast. Easy to find and big car park. Friendly receptionist both evening and morning. Room fine though not spacious but not cramped either. Bathroom bijou but everything worked. Shower very compact but easy to operate. Toilet handle loose but still functional (mentioned to reception on leaving - not a complaint but someone else might object). Bed rather small and rather hard. Free wifi and new tablet thing for contacting reception etc - didn't use it but asked in the morning and it is being introduced this week. Nice to have biscuits on the tea tray and soap and shampoo in the bathroom - Travelodge please note! Didn't use the restaurant or adjacent bar in the evening as already eaten but the free breakfast was fine - all you can eat (and an elderly lady was making the most of it!). Normal eggs bacon etc plus fruit, fruit juice, croissants, cereal and unlimited tea/coffee. Free papers in reception - The I and China Daily (an interesting insight into current China from their Govt point of view - 4000 km of railways to open this year, including 3500 km of high speed line - HS2 eat your heart out!). All in all - a real bargain and will stay again if we repeat the trip.

Value for money Rooms does need refurbishment but amazing staff, had problem with my car requested deputy manager to arrange extension cable, he took time but eventually found it and personally brought it to my room and called AA for me as well from their land line. With my Mother's Funeral being at The City of London Crem, I booked a table for six in the early evening. Also, my partner and I stayed here to save driving. The room and hotel was absolutely fine, displaying 3 stars I could not fault the standard and the facilities. I also found the staff to be both efficient and polite. The evening meal again was of a pretty good level. Whilst this hotel doesn't offer a full a la carte menu, the fare presented was fresh and well cooked. My only concern(probably costing them a 5*) was the slowness of the kitchen as with only three other people dining, we waited far to long for our starters. On a brighter note, our Waitress Dainea was fantastic. From service at the bar to tending to our culinary needs she was excellent!! Would I stay here again, absolutely as it was good value for money

Unfortunately I have stayed here reasonably frequently on business as it is convenient for my place of work and fits a budget. I can take the rooms and I have been very patient over the limitations of the restaurant. Food is pretty basic, service terrible. On previous stay, I waited an hour before enquiring where my order of fish and chips was, I was stunned to be told they had run out and forgotten to tell me. This time I waited an hour for a ham sandwich. The restaurant was not busy but seems has 1 cook who does a meal at a time. You get what you pay for, but me I am going to pay more and stay somewhere decent as staff either don't care or cannot do anything to improve. Oh, breakfast is good, probably different cook.

We stay in hotels every weekend for work. We arrived late as we work as nightclub DJs and performers so a comfortable nights sleep is paramount to us after being up and active until the early hours every weekend. We were happy to be staying at a Best Western as we've stayed in a few over the years and the standard is usually good/high. This particular Best Western does not match up to its name. Here is why in our opinion: 1. The double room we were given had the smallest double bed possible which would be more likened to a large single. My husband and I slept uncomfortably top to toe like we were kids. 2. The carpets on the stairs and corridors are compacted with dirt, stains and grime beyond belief for a hotel chain of this calibre. They need either deep, deep cleaning or just replacing. It really impacts you as you walk to your room. Having carpets that dirty made us feel as if we were staying in a hostel rather than a hotel. 3. The bathrooms are badly in need of a refit. The bathrooms are very tired. The shower tray is stained and is weakened. I feared it would crack when I stood in it. I am not overly heavy either. There was mould everywhere on the tiles and grouting and rust on metal surfaces. I didn't feel clean going in there. 4. The check out time is 12:00 which is great - especially when we only get to sleep in the early hours, so even though we had a Do Not Disturb notice on the door, housekeeping staff still started hoovering right outside the door at 10:00am, having loud conversations and generally banging about with gay abandon. Whilst 10:00am may not be considered early in general, when you get to bed at 5:30am and face a long drive home when you wake, every minute of rest and sleep counts. Maybe soundproofed doors would be good here? The room itself was well presented however and was clean and modern but the other areas aforementioned really let this place down.

I had been here a couple of times before about 10 years ago and it looked tired and dated at that time - all very 60s. I realised this as I pulled into the car park and hoped that it had been upgraded. I easily got a parking space in the car park and was pleasantly surprised when walking into the hotel that it looked quite modern a big improvement from my last visit. The staff at the both the bar and reception were very friendly and helpful. The room was as I remembered it from my previous visit in that they are quite large. There had been some attempt at modernising the room with decor and flat screen tv but it looked very cosmetic and my overall impression is that it looks like there is some furniture missing and could do with a bit more investment. It was very cold and the radiator was not working. I went down to reception and was told the heating is controlled by the AC unit on the wall. Well the control is in the darkest corner of the room and whilst I am no IT expert I am no slouch either. The controls are very small and the instructions not very clear to get heat. After 20 minutes of trying to get heat I gave up and put another jumper on. So to food. The burger and chips was passable and the helpful staff carried my food on a tray to my room. I won't dwell on what happened next other than a foreign body in the salad meant I saw most of my meal again. The staff who I reported it to were very considerate and empathetic and I was contacted by the manager the following day. Despite replying to him however I have heard nothing more. I did get the heating to work but it was a right faff and I think it was more by luck than judgement. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. The shower was possibly the worst I have encountered in many years with about as much pressure as a broken bike pump- and i struggled to get wet stood under it. So overall some good, - (staff and bed) some bad - (heating, communication ) and some ......( food and shower) I always try to give fair reviews and in this case would give it a miss if in the area again.

Newly decorated hotel, but toilet out of service. Internet worked well. Slightly worried about parking in s poorly lit car park. entry barrier, but no exit barrier, so no security. Buffet breakfast was good, and surprised/pleased to find Gluten free cereal. Lift for upper floors, but it was up 5 steps from reception, so difficult for disabled, and wheelchairs.

After a 5 1/2 drive to the hotel we were met my a very indifferent member of staff who initially totally ignored us , he eventually came back and checked us in (another member of staff was dealing with another person) We thought a G and T would go down well , so a trip to the bar ........to be told they had no gin, as gin is now such a popular drink we were pretty non plussed I asked if there was a shop near by and a member of staff could go and buy a bottle ! NO ...... we had a beer and went back for a second drink to find gin on sale ....evidently one had been found or purchased, we were still in the bar , no one had thought to come and tell us. ....it's not rocket science ! The fire door beside bar was used constantly, not a problem apart that most people either left it wide open or slightly ajar , my husband went and closed door on at least 3 occasions !.....it was cold We thought we would eat in the restaurant .........to be told the bar was the restaurant, it isn't We were then told that they would not open the restaurant for just us ........if we had wanted to eat in a bar we would have stayed in a pub ! I was served a burger on a wooden board that was so hacked to pieces I did not eat anything that was sitting on it , absolutely gross The total indifference of the staff is appalling Room was basic but fine , unfortunately the noise level in the hallway outside our room was dreadful, this went on until 4 in the morning .... people back from a party .....this is not the fault of the hotel but a few very selfish individuals. A decent night's sleep did not happen Girl on breakfast was lovely Breakfast not so, the baked beans were so dried up and congealed they were stuck to the serving dish, the hash browns were incredibly soggy due to the condensation of the container they were in , the bacon very insipid looking , this was at 8.30 in the morning on a Sunday , dread to think what breakfast would be like a hour later ! After the previous day breakfast came as no surprise This is meant to be a Best Western Plus , it is not We were very disappointed with this hotel and will not be staying there again It is not up to Best Western standard

The Hotel has been taken over by the Great Western Group since I last stayed there a couple of years ago and is much improved I got a great deal by booking well in advance which included a free breakfast, the room was well equipped and very clean and tidy, I found the bed nice and comfortable and there was a nice big bath which quickly filled with loads of hot water for a nice relaxing soak, will certainly be using again if I need to stay in the area

i did exceptional accommodation and hospitality , irrespective of my medical condition they were happy to accommodate my need and wish . as a diabetic patient doing a course in London , i was tired and fall asleep in due course missing my dinner before taking my injection . so the staff saved my ordered dinner kept it in the microwave which i got it after midnight from the night shift manager .thanks to the service and excellent customer service.merry xmass

We booked this hotel on line because we often stay in Best Western hotels and they give really good value for money.Thi hotel does not come up to the same standard we expected .the hotel has a 3.5 star award but should be only 2 Star max,our room carpet covered in dog hair!! I know you can bring pets but please hover after their stay our bathroom was dated and not very clean,the bed was comfortable and WiFi was good , Breakfast was a mess not much hot breakfast available all the plates were dirty and tables left uncleared away.would not recommend this hotel

One night business stay. On check in another guest said in an ironic way "you'll be glad your staying here" He wasn't wrong the hotel had a damp musty smell. On check in no info was given regarding where to have breakfast or any other amenities. I had a pizza for dinner as it was so late when I arrived and it wasn't good. Room was basic. Bathroom had been revamped. Breakfast was awful. Everything was cold and no staff there to speak to. I had to leave as I had a meeting. Guest at the desk making complaint. All this for £124 for the night and an extra £10 for the cold breakfast. Wouldn't recommend.

I stayed at this hotel as a treat for my daughter's birthday weekend (she is now 13) which she shared with one of her best friends. I needed two rooms as I didn't want to spend a night with 2 pre-teen girls, plus we wanted to commute to the centre of London to visit Madame Tussauds and Oxford Street. this hotel ticked all the boxes as it was on the central line South Woodford (30 mins from Oxford Street/Baker Street; fast wifi and reception and comfortable rooms. I agree with previous reviews that this hotel is closer to 3 star than 4, but the rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious. The facilities are adequate and breakfast was hot and plentiful. I really liked the room decor, the only item that does look tired are the carpet, I understand that this may be a heavy investment for Best Western but a carpet upgrade would change the environment completely. Despite this I thought the hotel was good and provided all the amenities and very green. Although I did not use it, but I really like the Handy mobile phone facility that came with the rooms. I would visit again...

As soon as I arrived for check in the girls at the front desk were rude, ignorant and wouldn't answer any of my questions. Somewhere along the way the booking was messed up and instead of offering help, the lady told me it was my fault and told me not to do it next time. Blunt service, no smiling or friendliness. Watched me carry a heavy suitcase up stairs in a struggle, not offering to help. Got to the room excited to be able to get some rest and the look of it was nothing like the pictures. Disgusting dirty floors, the tiniest bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel. Tissues were shoved into the tissue box (they had obviously fallen out and cleaner wanted to use them anyway). Wifi is terrible and not worth using, but your only option due to having no coverage in the hotel. Really cheaply designed hotel and extremely overpriced. Should never experience such a rude welcoming to the hotel as I will never stay again and will recommend that everyone stay away from this place. The girls at the front desk are too busy gossiping to do their jobs and should quite honestly have a serious talking to or find another job. Will be requesting a refund due to the service. Awful place.

Rooms were noisy and dirty and to top it off a man walked into my room looking for his bag (he had stayed in the room the night before) The lad at reception just gave him a key to my room. When I asked about this the guy working at reception thought this was perfectly ok and was not even apologetic.

First impressions when entering the hotel via the lower car park was I've made a mistake here! The entrance at the rear takes you past a dirty entrance with ventilation works and kitchen. Once inside the main lobby things did get better, check in was prompt and friendly. The room was on the ground floor and when inside it was fairly spacious and clean. The only problem with the room was the bathroom. It was clean but needed a refurb desperately. The shower partition had mould at the bottom due to age and the shower head was loose. There was handheld tablet the size of an IPhone plus but it wasn't an iPhone and was very slow and frustrating to use ,so gave up and used my own phone to checkout things that tablet was there for. I must say the price we paid for the room was cheap but expectations of a best western hotel meant overall it was disappointing. Staff were great but the managers at the top need to put some investment here or I can see this going down hill very quickly

Three members of staff required to set the clock to the correct time. An electronic device which is supposed to replace a phone which the company acknowledge doesn't work. The bed settee set out for single occupancy alongside a double thereby taking up a lot of space and which is difficult to put away without help and kids doing wheelies around the parked cars where there is a sign saying that the hotel does not accept responsibility for damage. The final insult - an hour to serve a plate of cheese.

Lovely welcome on arrival. Different staff on check- out, not one word! Free parking a bonus, nice area just on the outskirts of the forest. Breakfast adequate but the chef could do more to order rather than pile it high in the heaters. Room fine and bed comfy. Clean and tidy. Smoking area next to open door a definite no-no. Would stay again but expect to see improvements.

Stayed here tonight whilst in the area on business.Check in easy and smooth.Very helpful girls on reception.Large free car park on site.I was in room 208,nice and large and clean and everything ineeded for an overnight stay. Restaurant and bar was poor.Beer tasted awful like the pumps hadnt been cleaned for a while which at £4.50 a pint was terrible.Food was mediocre.The araff behind the bar hardly raised a smile all night and it looked as though they didnt want to be there.Shame as was a nice place.

I have stayed here several times as I have been working in the area but will not stay here again. On one visit the curtains and curtain pole fell off the wall and hit me when I closed the curtains. The electrics have blown with a big spark on 3 separate occasions while I have been using the iron. The rooms and bathrooms are tired and need investment. I needed to get my key reset most days I returned and once they tried to charge me twice.When I book a double room I get two twin beds bolted together rather than a double I am very surprised Best Western give it a plus rating but can only assume it is because they include a biscuit in the room. My rating is definitely minus

The staff were friendly and helpful and I was able to check in early. My room was nice but the bed was very hard and it took me a long time to get to sleep as a result. I stayed here as I was watching athletics at the Olympic stadium. It was about a mile from the underground station which was only a few stops from Stratford. I would stay here again for this purpose.

My review here is from two nights' stays - one one each occasion with differing results. Check-in was pleasant and polite. The rooms are fine - I had the first on the second floor above the kitchen area and the second on the ground floor. The hotel meals are fine, if pricey. In terms of rooms the one above the kitchen suffered from noise all night - a low level vibration that came through the hotel itself - air conditioning or refridgerator noise. As a result I didn't sleep at all. The ground floor room was much better - more spacious and very quiet. No issues at all with this room and I had a good night's sleep. So make sure you request a ground floor room if staying.

The hotel is perfect for a quiet retreat with dense woodland surrounding you, we commuted in and out of London easily. Staff are very approachable and considering the age of the hotel, it's fresh and bright. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The bar and restaurant are both very pleasant.

Location of the hotel was great, it really felt as though you were in the forest although only a mile from the North Circular Road. First impressions very good, polite and friendly receptionist, check- in very quick. Hotel looked clean and modern. We were there on a deal £160 standard double, with breakfast, £84 for two. A bit disappointed with the room on the ground floor. It was big enough but very dark and dingy because of the forest outside the window, still only there overnight so not a huge problem. The bed seemed incredibly small even though it was a double, not king-size what we're used to. Good flat-screened tv and usual room amenities. We ate there as we were too tired to go out and the food was reasonably priced and tasty, friendly and efficient bar and restaurant staff. Breakfast the next morning was good, too with plenty of choice. The reason I gave the hotel an 'average' rating rather than a higher score was because I don't think this was a £160 room, I would have been disappointed if I had paid that but for what we paid it was okay. Also, I didn't get a good nights sleep, the bed was okay, a bit small, as I said but it was really noisy with doors banging, people having conversations during the night and we were woken really early ( having only managed a few hours sleep) by a noisy family with a young child/children at 6.30am! So, in conclusion, there were some really good things about this hotel and some not so good things, perhaps we were just unlucky.

Have stayed here previously and it was OK. This time was no different. Reception staff both on check in and check out were extremely friendly as was the Australian bar person. Had an executive room this time, although comfortable there was nothing executive about it apart from a iPad type gizmo which was free to use. Really decent price for a Tuesday evening when every other comparable hotel in the area and beyond was significantly more expensive. Not quite sure though why it's a BW Plus although it's better than the Premier Inn's in the immediate area as you do at least see staff. Gets a fair few white van men, who have an inability to be able to park in spaces. Overall does for one night.

Me and my partner are karate officials we booked this hotel months back for a karate competition only 1.5 miles away. My dad booked it for us because he gets points. On Friday he received a phone call from the hotel clarifying whether we would still be arriving he said yes and nothing more was mentioned. We travelled from Salford it took 5 hours to get there so tired and just wanting to relax we got to the hotel to be told that they had over booked the hotel due to a big group booking received the night before and because of this we would have to go to another hotel. I told them that this was disgraceful as they had received clarification the night before that we would be coming but they didn't choose to redirect to at that point they waited until we arrived. I explained that we were there for business and the Venus which we were at the next day was only 1.5 miles away and we had booked this hotel months before to ensure we were close they couldn't care and said we would have to go to a best western in ilford this hotel was nothing in comparison the room was small and warm we had to carry our luggage across ilford town centre as the car park was at the sister hotel. I was also told that this has happened before by both Epping forest and ilford this is disgraceful the only reason that we got moved was because they saw £signs by taking a group booking we were booked in for two nights and I would NEVER book here again. My advice if you book do it with caution!!

We stayed here as a couple for two nights when going to a concert at the Olympic Stadium. It's quite basic but clean and modern. Really easy to get to the Olympic stadium and in to central London on the tube, taxi needed to the tube station though. Staff where helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good although took some time to replace items when they ran out. Definitely don't order room service when out of hours. We paid £7 for a really basic ham sandwich and £12 for what tasted very much like an oven pizza you'd have at home. Would be better if they just didn't offer room service outside certain hours. I'd recommend though if you're just after somewhere to sleep/rest like we where.

We were house hunting in the area and needed a place to stay for a couple of nights. We couldn't find anyone to look after our 2 dogs at short notice, so took them with us. We arrived to find a dog bed, feeding bowls and a doggy toy in our room! The room was near a fire exit so we could take the dogs outside without going through the hotel. The room was very spacious with very good facilities generally. The Best Western seems to be the only hotel in quite a wide area which allows dogs; the only other we know of is the Travelodge in Enfield, which is fine, but it doesn't have any suitable outside space for exercising your dog. However, from the Best Western you walk straight into Epping Forest - brilliant! Dogs aren't allowed in the eating areas of the hotel, though we were allowed to take ours into a small side area when no one else was there. (I should point out that our two are small to medium size - whippet lurcher and patterdale X - and so can fit fairly easily under tables and chairs). There wasn't anywhere to sit outside and eat - a shame, as the weather was lovely and hot while we were there. I would definitely recommend this Best Western if you're travelling somewhere with dogs and/or want to spend time around Epping Forest. There's a pub at the bottom of the hill which serves good food. It's encouraging that there are a few hotels, like this one, which set out to make dogs welcome rather than just tolerate them and their owners. It's a pity there aren't more hotels like it.

The rooms were clean and comfortabe-ish so a big plus point obviously. The staff were friendly too. However everything else was a bit naff. Breakfast was £10 and the quality and choice wasn't great. Had to wait for bacon to be cooked - you'd think there'd be a serving available rather than waiting 15 mins. Also they charge an exorbitant price for a sarnie out of hours. Even by London prices £9 for a couple of slices if bread and a filling is taking the pi$$ All in all the hotel is functional and no thrills, but nothing special.

Okay so I'll admit to finding this Best Western Plus hotel as a consequence of wanting to use my BA Avios points, which were due to expire shortly. I had a bus driving experience booked at North Weald Airfield in nearby Epping over the weekend, and the location and ability to book with Avios made this an absolutely ideal choice! That said, once at the hotel we quickly realised we were also only 5 miles drive away from the huge shopping centre at Westfield, Stratford, and nearby Olympic Park. So we made the most of our trip with a shopping and dining experience there. What's not to like - free parking and only five miles from Westfield? The hotel itself doesn't look amazing from the outside BUT don't let that put you off. The inside has been refurbished and looks great, especially around the lobby, bar and dining area. Our family room was okay for the four of us (our two daughters sharing a double-pull out sofa bed) for our one night, but might feel a bit of a squeeze for longer stays. Otherwise the room was comfortable and included a TV, Android tablet/phone, in-room safe, and tea/coffee facilities and biscuits. The breakfast buffet was fine at £7 a head for adults and free for the children. A good stay, clean and comfortable and well located.

Me and my partner stayed here as we were visiting McK Grill for my birthday. We booked a deluxe double room through Hotels.com. When we arrived we wasn't really sure what was "deluxe" about our room as it seemed pretty standard. The room was modern and clean so good enough for me. We got back to the room at around 11:45pm, just wanting a good nights sleep. Then for the next 8 hours on and off I heard every single detail of our neighbours intimate weekend away!! The walls are ridiculously thin. I tried to call reception to tell them about the noise (our neighbours were very, very noisy and although I understand if that's what they want to do!) just to see if they'd be able to get them to keep it down a little bit (after several attempts myself). You can also hear every flush of a toilet, shower, tap running..... The "handy" phone was not working so I couldn't call reception. I tried the main number from my mobile and still no answer. I also went down to reception and no one was there. Not much sleep and I feel very grumpy! Wouldn't come back.

The hotel looks like it's recently had a facelift which in my opinion money has been spent on the front of house areas and not the bedrooms. Check in - reception staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant- basic menu, foods ok but the staff have no idea how to wait on. Bedrooms - basic but comfortable BUT you can hear everything that you fellow guests are doing throughout the night, snoring, going to the loo etc and then lots of doors slamming throughout the night/morning which I know isn't the hotels fault but put soft closers on the doors. I wouldn't stay here again,

Afternoon tea was laughable, had a private hired room that hadn't seen paint or a cleaner in decades. The afternoon tea had stale coconut biscuits you get from supermarkets for 90p and Jacobs crackers with nothing on!!!! Also included cheap apricot jam tarts left over from breakfast with bits of pastry missing. It was by far the worst ever and I would say please please do not risk it.Just do not come here. When I asked if they thought this was a joke they genuinely didn't think anything was wrong and nothing was done with the complaint. A disgusting excuse to take hard earned money. Our entire group was in shock.

We have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions and will do again. It is always welcoming and clean and close to the station for trips into London. Parking is free which is a huge plus. However, this time we stayed the night before the Marathon and were a bit disappointed with the breakfast on Sunday morning. We went down at 7.30 and found the only cereals were weetabix, Rice Krispies or Coca-Cola pops. We asked for Muesli and, despite the lady's best efforts, none was forthcoming. I asked for porridge and a big bowl of very runny porridge duly arrived. There was no bread for toast and the croissants had run out. My husband on the other hand had a great cooked breakfast. We are usually really pleased with the breakfast choices here so this was not the usual standard. Our room was good (not as good as rooms on the ground floor though as bathroom was a bit tired.). Not really bothered by that as we only stayed for one night. Toiletries, tea and coffee and nice clean towels provided.

I have stayed in this hotel twice. The first time the room was very nice and of high standard. This time the room we had was a bit tired. The bathroom in particular could do with a makeover. The rooms and bedding however are clean and comfortable. My son had a sofa bed which was ok for him as he is eight however it would have been very uncomfortable for an adult. The bathroom has toiletries and the towels were white and fluffy. The room had a tv, coffee and tea facilities (with biscuits) and plenty of hanging space for clothes. The buffet breakfast has a good choice of both cooked and continental foods including bacon, eggs, sausages, beans, sauté potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese, cold meat, pastries, toast, yoghurt, cereal and fruit. There is a bar and evening food is available. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel also has a large car park and is set off the road so is very quiet. It is approximately a 15 minute walk from the hotel to the train station which brings you into Liverpool Street Station, London.

This is a tired looking grey building. The corridoors are drab too. Inside though, its quite nice. The staff are very pleasant, and the beer and food are quite good. Much better than first impressive. The reception and bar/restaurant area are very airy. The rooms are quiet, with excellent blackout curtains. Doors do reverberate a bit. I wish my neighbour downstairs had stayed sober.... Or turned on his lights, being woken twice during the night has left me jaded & cranky! It's pleasant enough to use for business, but not good enough to bring my wife, family or friends.

first impressions were not good . very 70s style frontage with awful looking tables and chairs outside. having said that the room was very clean and tidy. nice bed , good television and complimentary tea coffee etc. bathroom top notch and toiletries provided. shower pressure not good but you have the benefit of a good sized bath. breakfast good value but basic . I was warned by previous work colleagues to make sure nothing of value was left in vehicle overnight.

Well the hotel was a little bit challenging to spot out, that might be me having issues with GPS and not noticing the sign. The parking was ample i.e. I was able to park on a Saturday night which is more than what I can say about some other hotels. The bed, well I struggled to sleep on it as it would appear to move on its wheels pretty easily. The breakfast is a standard affair, reasonable quality as expected. The let down I'd hear you ask, the decor was reasonable but there were a few things like the shower being a little tight especially with the door. I stand at 6f1 so if you're slightly taller than average its a bit of a squeeze to get in!

Stayed here this week and I was pleasantly surprised at the room rate . Staff here are lovely , food maybe a little too expensive but all in all a nice find . The hotel is centrally located to Epping and has good access to local pubs and dining within walking distance . The down side is it's a little worn and could do with a good steam clean . My room was spacious but showed signs of wear and tear that with a little effort could be rectified . The only really horror was the sealant in the bathroom being black with mould which is a shame . If you're looking for a decent nights sleep on the edge of London within walking distance to the tube have a look here :)

Lovely clean comfy room, brilliant staff, good breakfast. Wifi worked fine in both bedroom and open areas.Enjoyable stay. But evening meal in bar definitely bog standard "freezer to microwave" so a bit disappointing for a hotel of that quality- and it was overpriced. Otherwise fine.

I've stayed here 3 times over the past 12 months, each stay has been perfectly adequate with no major faults, breakfast is always very good too. I have found that the second floor is slightly tacky, outside room 201 for instance has some plaster cracked outside the room. This is just superficial and will not affect your stay however.

Pleasant hotel but a little too much grey in entrance which made it feel cold. Receptionist/Bar man was inexperienced and wasn't sure of check in but got there. Corridors on floors were grubby and need either new carpets or good clean. Room was fine biggest problem was the heating at night which made a continual noise and made it difficult to sleep. Best part were the staff who were all very helpful apart from reception which need to be a bit more cheerful and there is an obvious training need for the head receptionist to come to the front counter rather than sit in the back just popping out when a new member of staff needs help. She also has a very condescending manner.

My wife and I stayed here for one night whilst visiting our son in London. Having stayed at the hotel many times in it's former guise many years ago, we decided to try it again this year and were not disappointed. Located in the attractive London suburb of Woodford next to Epping forest it is situated in a quiet location and close (short taxi ride) to South Woodford tube station on the central line which is 25 mins journey from the heart of London. We had a twin room on the ground floor overlooking the car park at the rear and was very quiet (unlike most hotels in central London). It was clean, reasonably sized and perfect for a one or two nights stay. There was free wifi and you could open the windows which is always a plus in our view. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming and greatly added to the enjoyment of our stay. We didn't eat at the hotel as we were dining out in London and leaving early next day, however we will definitely use this hotel again on our future visits to London and would recommend it as an alternative to staying in central London.

On arrival at this hotel,,which was late on [email protected] oclock,,because of heavy traffic in London. Checked in+found i didnt have low floor room,which i had requested,because i have great difficulty using stairs+have to use a stick+sometimes a walker. Asked at reception if they had a lift,answer was no,i said i had requested low floor room,but they passed the book+said i hadnt+could only appolijise as they are very busy because of a big party of arrival of guests,,of which i was part of !! Then next day went to breakfast after difficulty with 3 flights of stairs!! only to find no bacon,no beans,no mushrooms,very little cereal,upon complaining again,told same old story,very busy because of big party of guests arriving+can only appolijise+then upon sitting in area after breakfast,i notice that they do have a lift! So off i go to complain again,only to be told same old story,,we are very busy due to big party arriving+could only appolijise,,asked to see hotel manager,,but he was not available,,not happy after paying good money to stay there!

I stayed here for four night on business, and it was a pleasant enough stay. Room was big and spacious quiet too. Bathroom accesories provided with fresh towels. Now the bathroom was so small I got fed up a bit, the taps are not mixer and the hot water is HOT. Free wifi room safe and coffee available. Breakfast was really nice, buffet style with plenty of options. Free car parking which is great when going into London. The tube station is one mile away. I used to walk from the hotel in about 20 min, but that was a speedy walk though. It is the Central line incidentally and the station is south woodford.

We had a one night stay for a party nearby. We were greeted by friendly staff and provided with all the information we needed. We wanted a snack before going out and the bar menu was OK, a bit limited perhaps although we found what we wanted. Room was a decent size, quiet and well-equipped. In the morning the cooked breakfast was among the best we have had in hotels of this type. Would certainly stay again.

Stayed at home he Best Western Epping Forest for a long weekend . It was perfect in every way. Receptionists we're all friendly and welcoming , went out of their way to make us feel welcome . Housekeeping was excellent, got what we asked for right away .: Waiting staff were pleasant and helpful . Room was clean and the bed was so comfortable and the best night sleep I've had in a long time . Breakfast excellent, however would have liked some melon ?? Again Best Western at its best. Staying for three nights at this hotel was ok the hotel in need of refurbishments doors heavy to open or do not open, I had to unplug the phone in my room as it was giving lowed clicking noise this would be dangerous for an emergency calls or and evacuation if I did not have my mobile; the staff at checking and checkout were very concerned that they must have a credit card, although the full cost for the whole stay was paid in advance, I explained I only use the hotel for sleeping leaving at 05:45 coming back at 19:45 plus to avoid the City traffic, only when I said never mind I will go somewhere else I was told not to worry about it so why ask in the first place!! Over all my stay was average nothing special except the location very good for commuting

I was very surprised to read the review "poor service". I am a member of the association that meets at the hotel every month and I was present at the meal mentioned in the review. On the evening I had a very enjoyable three course meal, served with attention and care. As I recall there was a problem with the availability of one of my courses, but I was pleased to be offered, in a most courteous manner, an excellent alternative by the waiter. Our group has been meeting at the hotel for ten years now and during that period we we have held two highly successful gatherings of over 100 people and we plan to hold another similar event in June 2017. The success of these meetings were, in major part, due to the efficiency and good organisation of the hotel. I cannot praise the staff at this Best Western hotel highly enough. I dine at the hotel every month and have always found them kind, considerate and very eager to please. I can recall many occasions when they have gone out of their way to help make our meetings a success and it is always a pleasure to enter the bar and be welcomed by the staff with a smile.

"Convenient location and free parking"

The hotel is easy to find and in a good location for access to London. There is free parking available without booking. When arrived there wasn't anyone at reception but another staff was informed and receptionist returned quickly so there was no issue at all. Check in was quick and easy and we were informed that there was a function in the evening. The room was clean. Breakfast had hot and cold options. Staff were approachable and helpful.

At check in I asked to be able to book drinks at the bar after I returned from working at around 10 PM. My card was preauthorised for a covering amount, however on my return at around 10:10 PM the bar steward informed me that I couldn't book drinks to the room. I wasn't not a happy bunny and explained the situation to the reception desk, they calmed my frustration and offered a complimentary drink at the bar. This situation should never have happened but I needed wind down time and the 'complimentary' drink helped with that. Of course the 'complimentary drink' actually turned into an item on my bill which I ended up paying for, this is a first as if offered complimentary drinks a voucher is offered for redemption at the bar. I have gained e real life experience and I shall never take a complimentary drink from this hotel again, I would rather offer the money and be done with it. It has blurred my image of what I thought was an OK looking hotel. Whilst I'm having a dig, people using the facilities within the hotel should be required to maintain a certain dress code. My work uniform is a Polo with trousers (never soiled) as my job is clean. I never feel that hi vis and dirty work dress and boots are the place for the breakfast room. After all we are eating in that area.

Visited for dinner with an Association which uses this hotel for monthly meetings. Only one overworked person tending the bar and taking orders for dinner. The was a menu from which to choose. Whe we sat down for dinner (26 people in total) we found that there was only one person serving and attening to the diners. We waited for over 10 minutes for the starter course to be served as it was clear that there was too much work for one person. When it came to the main course (I had selected salmon) there was no sign of my course. After everyone else was served apart from myself and one other guest, I was informed that there was no salmon available and the only alternative was a vegetarian course. I refused this. I asked to see the manager and was told that he had left for the evening. I asked for a dessert which was just passable and then left. This is an absolute disgrace for such a popular hotel group. I have used Best Western in th UK and USA and have never had such poor service.

Good location and very clean rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast was very good and plenty of it. Staff at reception were friendly and check in was very quick and efficient. Car parking was very secure and overall the hotel was well presented. However on our second night we had a group of ladies on our floor who decided it was party night and were running up and down the corridor, banging doors, music playing and one even tried to get into our room. We rang reception at 12.45 am and were asked if we wanted to change rooms. Not at 2.45 am thank you !! They partied all night and after little sleep we complained again at 6 am: we gave up at 7 am got up showered had breakfast and left. We were given a email address to complain to but as yet no reply.

We were staying for just one night to meet up with family we have stayed here before but had to put our little westie in kennels but on this occasion we were the first customers to have our dog stay here. She had a warm welcome with her own bed and treats. Its a great place to stay for dog owners as the forest is just on the door step. We had a great breakfast and the day staff are very helpful friendly. We will recommended to friends and family

Stay was not enjoyed as the twin rooms were not well appointed and poor value for money. Meals in hotel dire. Pizzas were a frozen brand but not mentioned on menu. We arrived quite late and felt hurried which meant a poor start to our stay. Rooms seem old fashioned and in need of renovation

Myself and partner stayed here over a weekend as it was the perfect location to the tube and our family, it looked stylish and comfortable, the price was affordable. However our stay was awful, we were greeted at the desk by a woman who doesn't know how to smile, the coffee is very watered down, there were left over nachos in the safe of our room, the key stopped working half way through our stay. We decided to have lunch at the hotel where the service wasnt pleasant and only half of our lunch was served we had to ask for the rest, they weren't overly apologetic! This experience was such a shame as we were hoping to use this hotel on a regular basis when we visit our family.

This hotel is a good choice for people travelling by car for business or leisure. It is located close to the City and it is easy to access and also park the car. The breakfast is also relative good and the personnel is friendly.

Went and stayed for the night, got into room it was very unmentained such as bath tap not working and no mention about heating not working , it was freezing . Also mould around the baths / Sinks . Another thing was a party in the function room , music was blasting till after 12:30 . Very poor for families .

I do believe a member of staff came up and looked at the taps for you and resolved that issue however in regards to the heating in the hotel, for some rooms it is run from a central system which unfortunately we were not able to resolve for you on that occasion however we have fixed this now since your stay and comments. Due to the function noise and lack of heating in your room you were offered four rooms on the other side of the building away from noise and with self controlled heating in the rooms for you and your party, which you declined. We did offer to send up extra covers for you and had hoped that our efforts to resolve these issues were satisfactory. Due to the issues faced we refunded you 25% of your stay and gave you all complimentary breakfast by way of an apology. I am however sorry if you feel this was not compensation enough. Stayed mid week on a business trip. Arrived late and found ample parking. Booking in was swift and customer service friendly. Accommodation comfortable and quiet with adequate in room facilities. Breakfast was fairly good but not available after half nine on a weekday. This hotel looks a bit dated from the outside but efforts have been made to modernise it on the inside. i would stay again.

Stayed at the hotel for one night as we were going to a party nearby. We had a lovely clean room the beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed an excellent breakfast. Plenty of car parking spaces which were close to the hotel reception.

Stopped here for 2 Nights for our wedding anniversary, great location for us took about 15 mins to walk to the tube station some lovely restaurants and pubs nearby too. Hotel was really nice and clean, we were really impressed with our double room very clean bathroom was nice too but found the shower a little on the small side, main light in bedroom was very dim but plenty of lamps to brighten the room up. Only down side was I didn't have the best sleep found the mattress to be too soft and could feel the springs in my back but my husband said it was really comfy. Breakfast was great, bar area nice too drinks reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again on our next trip to London ??

The hotel is in a nice area and not far from other places if you want a night out. The staff were very friendly and the room was lovely apart from the shower which we had some trouble with and the light in the room isn't very bright.

We had our wedding there on 3rd September 2016 as we wanted a local venue and got a really fantastically priced wedding package. We had such a great day. Thanks to Larisa, the Wedding Co-ordinator, and all the hotel staff who worked tirelessly to make sure we had a great day, which we did. Nothing was too much trouble and we were really pleased with how smoothly everything went. The rooms were clean and comfortable as well as spacious, and we enjoyed our wedding breakfast and buffet. Breakfast the following morning was lovely too. Overall we were really pleased with the overall service and we would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Stayed at the Best Western on the 7th for a one night stop over and what a wonderful surprise. I found both the staff and manager to be extremely accommodating making my stay very comfortable and relaxing. I also had the opportunity to dine in the restaurant and I would highly recommend the pie and chips one of the best I have ever had by far. A special thanks to the evening restaurant team Oliver and Inginia as well as Chris the General manager for making my stay an enjoyable one. I will defiantly be back and would highly recommend this hotel.

"Rubbish hotel for £120 pounds ! Avoid"

This would have been a poor hotel at £60 pounds , but for twice the price , come on .... Where do I start ? Reception area covered in cheap looking laminate, awful bar and lounge mainly in the dark as there were so many lights out . Tv s playing terrible Magic Tv music loudly, hardly relaxing.Worst pint of Boddingtons I've ever had. Room had wall lights which looked like they were from a 1980s car boot sale. Bedside lights didn't work unless you got out of bed and turned the main switch off defeating their object. Full of contractors who doubled up in their rooms and smoked like chimneys just outside the lounge bar. Wash hand basin leaked on the floor . Breakfast ok , staff pleasant enough . Rooms clean . Didn't try the gym.

The hotel has been refurbished in the last few years and I am therefore surprised that you did not like the decor in the public areas, especially our bar as it proves popular with our many return guests. I do however apologise that you felt disturbed by the music and TV in the bar area and I will be looking into this. Our rooms are all also refurbished rooms but I again apologise that this is not to your taste, there is a main light switch in the room which allows all the other lights to be controlled by invidivual switches. For this reason we do provide a smoking area outside our bar but am disappointed to hear this caused you disturbance. "Would not go back"

Attended a wedding there at the weekend. The hotel is very tired and needs refurbishment of the rooms as they look tired - The reception is welcoming but beyond that, it's a hotel that is in need of a good upgrade. We were attending a wedding there and sampled the wedding breakfast - The food was awful and I'm not exaggerating. We were served a starter of salmon with lettuce. Very small piece of salmon with some limp lettuce to start with. A very inedible chicken breast stuffed with a spinach and thyme stuffing - the chef forgot to de-stalk the thyme and you had to pull the stalks out when you ate it. The chicken breast must have been cooked the day before and then re-heated under a grill as the top of each breast on our table was rock hard and you could not eat it. The veg served with this dish were carrots and asparagus - no potatoes. I asked about whether there were any potatoes and was informed that potatoes were not ordered although they did offer to cook some but I said no as it was pointless. The asparagus was totally over boiled to the extent that it lost its colour and there was approx 5 slices of carrots per plate all in a very weak gravy. Dessert was a cheesecake and sorbet which they couldn't' get wrong as I presume it was out of a packet. The white wine was warmer than the red. They were trying to pass off a sparking wine as Prosecco. We ordered a cup of tea for our mum and was told to go to the other bar and get it ourselves. The waiter standing by our table didn't know where the toilets were when we asked for directions. All in all not a great service, although some of the staff worked very hard and I think were let down by the food. Later, we had a buffet which consisted of bullet sausage rolls with some over cooked mini pizza and a selection of sandwiches which I didn't eat. I did not stay at this hotel but had friends and family stay and I did use one of the rooms to change my outfit. The beds looked clean and comfy but the corridors were dark with dated carpet and the room decor was dated and needs upgrading. It's a shame as this hotel could be a little gem if it was run better and some serious money spent on it. I personally would not go back to this hotel unless there was serious money spent on it and a new chef in place that could cook decent food.

booking was last minute online and upon arrival were told as we booked late and a lower online tariff we were given a ground floor room. this was at the end of a long dark corridor and the room was equally as dark. We felt like we were in a dungeon.

"Served it's purpose, but nothing special"

We chose this hotel because of it's proximity to the place we were visiting on the evening of our stay, and in this respect it served it's purpose well. With a little online research it is easy to find, and is within 10 minutes drive from the M11 motorway, located down a pleasant leafy lane. On arrival we found the car park to be completely filled with visitors for a wedding. I would have expected the hotel to have made better provision for those actually staying at the hotel. The staff seemed a little lost as to what to do, but eventually the manager proposed a parking spot not in the car park but close to reception which was acceptable. The room was clean and functional though a little plain, but the air conditioning did work on what was a humid night. For me the stay was rather expensive seeing as no breakfast was included and wifi was charged at the absurd rate of £15 for 24 hours. Also the hotel would not credit points to our Best Western loyalty card with the excuse that we had booked through a third party. This seemed a little petty particularly as we stayed in a Best Western hotel 12 months ago, booked by a third party, and points were added then. In summary, the stay was perfectly acceptable, and I would even recommend it as a place to stay, but only because of it's convenience.

It may be worth looking into who the payment was made to as I am aware that BitBuzz does not cost. There were some changes made at the beginning of the year to Best Westerns Rewards policies, one of which was that points are only awarded if a guest books through Best Western or directly with the hotel therefore unfortunately you would not have been eligible for points on this occasion. We booked a double room here as our good friends were golding their wedding reception here. When we first arrived, first impressions were good. It looked clean and we checked in quickly. Room looked really nice and seemed clean. I really liked the look of the bathroom. We went down for the wedding dinner which was shocking. Firstly the high chair they supplied was filthy. For a hotel that was expecting a large group and babies/infants it was disgusting. My partner went and asked the manager for some disinfectant to clean the tray but apparently they had nothing but a generic all purpose cleaner. (They didn't even offer to clean it she just gave him the spray with a cloth that she'd been wiping the bar with). Next problem was the food. Every single course they did not serve my one year old who was sat in the high chair right beside me. When they'd finished bringing everyone else's food out and I realised theyd finished bringing food out I had to ask for her food each time. I didn't even bother with the desert. The main was a gourmet burger... mine was cooked but after a little while of people eating it was discovered that almost half of the burgers were not even cooked and raw in the middle!! They had been served to children too!! The poor bride had to get up and speak to the manager to try and sort it out. No new food was issued and there was alot of food left on the plates. The drinks were very expensive and the service slow. We went up to our room around 10.30pm and we're ready to put our little one to sleep in the cot. I just checked inside it to make sure it was all clean etc when I realised the base of the mattress was these hard planks of plastic. No mattress on top! Called the reception who weren't that great but they eventually sent a lady from housekeeping. She was lovely and brought us an extra blanket to fold and put under the sheet as that was all she could offer. I was not impressed at all. The room was BOILING! No air conditioning... the mattress springs were digging into me, so uncomfortable. You can also hear all the noise from outside... which is fantastic if you don't like your sleep! There are tea making facilities in the room however our glasses were dirty. The shortbread biscuits were very yummy though! The bathroom was really nice and the soaps they provide are of nice quality. Breakfast was included and was a buffet. They had cereals, bread, 2 types of small pastries (croissants and a custard filled pastry) - although there were hardly any put out and took a very long time for new food to be brought out - they also have yoghurt and the usual fried variety of food. I enjoyed the breakfast and it was probably the best part of my experience here (not that it was a great breakfast but just everything else was so disappointing) I would not stay here again. Feel somewhat ripped off too!

Had a lovely overnight stay here, staff very friendly surroundings area very nice, reception, bar area and staff was lovely and rooms all good. Would definitely recommend it. Plenty of car parking spaces. Usually stay in buckhurst Hill but will be back here.

We stayed as we where visiting family in London and needed a place to stay locally. To stay the hotel was a plus, it just seemed very basic to me. Rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. Looks to have had a recent refurbishment, but only a lick of paint and new curtains and carpet. The room had no air conditioning, so we asked at reception for a fan, they provided us with a small desk fan. There was a 21st birthday party on the night we stayed and loud music was played until midnight, kept me awake until it finished. Hotel is ok if you need a place to get your head down, nothing special about the hotel really. Would stay again if in the area.

Stayed here for one night, mainly as a place to sleep after a night out in London. Reception staff were very polite and helpful, including helping us get some snacks after we returned to the hotel :) Rooms were a decent size, bed was super comfy. Shower wasn't very powerful but it was okay.

We arrived having booked online but there was a problem with our booking which was resolved instantly at no cost to us! Then they gave us an early check-in to one of the rooms as we had arrived very early to go to a wedding in the afternoon. Breakfast was a bit of a bun fight - we were a bit late and there were no plates and some items missing and the restaurant staff seemed quite stressed. All in all a good place for an overnight stay.

Great hotel, stayed here lots whilst visiting London. South Woodford tube station is a 10min walk or £5 taxi journey. Free car parking and secure too. Rooms are very clean and tidy and staff always happy to help. Very easy to find and only just off motorways. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Despite being recently refurbished I was concerned about the net curtains in the room. There appeared to be some staining at the bottom (possibly mould) see photo. This didn't affect my stay though. The staff at reception were helpful and cheery as were the chambermaids with their "good mornings" as we walked from our room to breakfast. Breakfast was very enjoyable. The bar seemed expensive but we only had one drink while waiting for friends to pick us up.

This hotel is in a word dreadful. We stayed here on the 3rd floor far end room away from the miniature lift. Straight away the cleanliness and overall room standard shocked me. ( this is a best western branded hotel ) the toilet door handle fell off at first contact, the toilet door lock area had been filled with a playable filler which was still playable due to its thickness. The shower was tiny just like the lift, and my head was brushing against the false ceiling tiles, but if i had to choose I would of preferred the lift with cold buckets of water, this would be possible in the lift because you can raise your hands higher than your head making a bucket shower possible ! Beds terrible, dirty steaming hot room etc Don't bother unless you are in an emergency and nothing else is left or better still drive home

I am surprised this carried the BW "Plus" label. Staff are always pleasant but the standard of food and the quality of the room was way below a 2 star hotel in my opinion and I do stay in dozens of hotel during the year across the UK & Ireland. I will never stay at this hotel again. I am also a Diamond for Life member so I have stayed in a great deal of BW hotels

"Quick Stay for Topgolf"

We stayed here as was close to Topgolf and was on a birthday night out. The rooms are lovely, however the bathrooms were not so nice! seems they have updated the rooms but not the bathrooms which is a shame as it would have been quite nice otherwise. Outside of the building is fairly dated but cant do much about that. There was a wedding the night we booked so was quite loud but we weren't too fussed as we didn't get back until late. The car park on the other hand had people hanging around until nearly 3am making noise, revving cars and generally just being noisy. Would have been fine but we needed the windows open as the rooms were insanely hot with no air con. Other than that we had a really good stay for the price. Breakfast was £7 and was really yummy.

"A mixed bag of a hotel!"

We booked this place as we had an event close by. The initial booking went well online and I was impressed with the value (a room for 4 - B&B £137). However the booking was only for 3 when we arrived and there was a lot of confusion. Happily they provided an additional single room at no extra charge but was a bit disappointing. The exterior of the hotel is very tired, but the reception and bar have been renovated and look great. However the rooms aren't the same and unfortunately are very dated and scruffy. No air con either so very hot in summer. The reception staff were on the most part friendly but need better training - they forget basics like telling you where your room is or explaining and giving you the car park code! Overall its handy and cheap but I wouldn't rush back if I was in the area.

"Disgraceful"

On the drive up to the hotel, it was clear that this was not going to be pleasant. Tired looking building, which didn't even resemble a hotel! This was obviously going to be the least of our worries... Arriving with a coach party, our tour manager rang the hotel two hours before our arrival to inform them we all wanted to dine in the restaurant, to which when we got there, we placed our order and received our food nearly an hour later! We'd also also asked for a side order to accompany a main meal, this arrived 15 minutes after the mains were served. This was microwaved veg, it's not a big ask. Other members of our party were not happy with their main meal and made a complaint to the manager, who was extremely rude and totally unhelpful with the matter! This was resolved by a fresh meal being cooked an hour and 15 minutes after first being ordered. We were aware that other members of our party, on the other side of the restaurant, seemed to have plates of food after being told the hotel had no supplies of food left! In their panic of having no food supplies, they managed to serve a buffet, which the guests were charged £5 each for, which meant that we had payed more for our food than they did for theirs and ours was well below average! Besides all of that, the state of the hotel is disgusting! It looks dirty, unkempt and could do with a good window cleaner *see picture* There was bird poo on the window in one of the corridors and also on the window of our room, that greeted us when we walked in! I cannot believe that we have to spend two nights here!

"Very poor experience"

We arrived after a dreadfully long 5+ hr journey and had to join the back of a coach party checking in. After waiting to check in we were informed it would be the chefs decision as to whether we would be served food as food stops at 9. We had to push our way to the front of the coach party queue now queueing at the bar to request menus and whether food would be served. We informed front desk the single barman was overworked but was informed he could cope. We had to order 3 different drinks as the pipes has been incorrectly cleaned and connected and bitter was mixed with both lager and ciders. We retired, to be awoken by cleaning staff before 7am so we mentioned this to staff who stated they would inform facilities management. As we were attending for an offsite wedding we requested an iron and ironing board to which the cleaner brought 3 of each stating none were fit for purpose. All ironing boards are old and bent and all irons are old, non steam and blackened with burnt residue that came off all over our wedding clothes. We returned from our wedding to find a raucous wedding at the hotel in full swing. Obnoxious wedding guests, people smoking indoors, people urinating in the car park and music blaring out well into the small hours right under our rooms. We attempted to complain to staff who stated they did not want to upset the wedding party. Unable to sleep before 3am we were utterly cheesed off at being awoken by cleaning staff before 7 on a Sunday morning. As a wedding group over 20 of us had booked into this hotel and then attempted to convene for the breakfast. Horrendous most food was gone, was unbelievably slow to replenish and we had to hear one of the waiting staff entering the kitchen calling us '****ing pigs'. We waited 45 minutes to dine separately on cold beans, sausages and toast. Given this is certainly not in the cheap and cheerful category I would strongly suggest comparing before making a booking.

This hotel is quite average. The bar and reception have been renovated recently and looks modern but the rooms and outside of the hotel are in need of repair and modernising. Could do with some bigger tv's in the bar area. The staff don't appear to be the happiest or most knowledgeable about the local area.

Affordable place to stay with easy access to central London - 15-20 minute walk to South Woodford underground station (Central line). Staff at the front desk were very friendly & helpful. We didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel as we spent most of our time in central London and just used the hotel as a place to sleep at night. We didn't eat in the hotel at all as we found the all day breakfast at the Soul Stop Café, just down the street from South Woodford tube station much better value. There were no scales at reception to weigh our cases before we left for the airport, which was an inconvenience.

This hotel defines the word "average" - nothing outstanding, and nothing too terrible. It's located in a leafy area, and has a large free car park. Rooms are generally well equipped, including a safe, and seem to have been refurbished quite recently. The walls are thin, and you can hear the bathroom etc next door. Large wardrobe, but a complete lack of any drawer storage space. Breakfast buffet is quite extensive, with hot and cold options. Our breakfast on a Sunday morning was chaotic. The room was crowded, and the instruction to "wait to be seated" was totally ignored. Staff were rushing around fire-fighting, as first spoons, then coffee mugs ran out. A customer asking for a coffee mug was told curtly "they're all in the wash, you'll have to wait". Not a relaxing start to the day! This hotel is fine for a stopover, but nothing more..

Stayed for 2 nights using Best Western points for one of the nights. The hotel was very convienient for the Tube, 25min walk. We walked to the tube in the mornings and got a taxi back in the evening for £5. Also not far from the M11 so very handy. The room itself was fine. Everything you needed. Now for the not so good bits!!! 1st night we were there some radiator pipes in the room kept making tapping noises every so often. (I see from other reviews that this has been mentioned before some time ago so the hotel obviously aren't that bothered about it!!!) Kept me awake as I am a light sleeper. Tap in bathroom could do with looking at too as it drips quite a bit and was also loose! 2nd night, we were really looking forward to a relaxing evening after a busy day sightseeing only to find there was a wedding on in the function suite which would be fine if it wasn't on the 1st floor under all the bedrooms in that part of the hotel!! Thumping music on till early hours and then noisy guests walking back to rooms and slamming doors and all the while the tapping noises from the radiator continued as well. Also our key stopped working so took it to reception who sorted it out for me. However no security questions were asked, I could have been anyone from any room asking to gain access to a particular room!! (Might be just me but found it a bit odd that no questions were asked!!) Would I stay there again? Maybe if I could guarantee no tapping noises and be in a different part of hotel to the function suite. As I said I am a light sleeper and it didn't bother other members of my family as much as me. Hope the hotel take note to reviews and get problems addressed!!

After quite a disastrous journey to the hotel due to many delays in transport, I was greeted at the hotel early evening by two very polite receptionists which changed my mood instantaneously. After arriving at my clean and spacious double room I unpacked, got relaxed and popped downstairs to the bar area. I thoroughly enjoyed the prawn pastries and chicken skewers as well as the fantastic service from the young gentlemen that came with it. I only stayed for one night as I was in the area on business though I am excited for my next return in the summer to the area. This will definitely be the hotel I choose to stay in.

Chose the hotel due to its location - very nice and quiet location, which a rare for London. Breakfast was adequate, usual items for British buffet (could have had more fruits). Room service was great at some nights, lacking in quality on others. Beds were comfortable - room quiet, apart from when there is a party in the suite in 1st floor. After asking, was moved to a more quiet part of the hotel. Would recommend staying in this hotel if you look for peace and quiet near London.

Booking was made by a third party stayed for two nights first night ok but breakfast the following morning was like a bun fight just to get some food!, the second evening was unacceptable with a party that turned the music up so loud my room vibrated for over three hours asked twice for it to be turned down but was offered a move at 10.30pm but noise affected the whole hotel, personally I would not book to stay here again.

Stayed here the night before playing hockey at the Olympic Park - so - this hotel served a great purpose - was literally down the road. Must say that my room was clean but waaaaaaay too hot. Still, an open window soon sorts that. Breakfast was more than adequate. Not a boutique hotel - if you want that then stick your hand further in your pocket & go closer to the city !!! Perfectly reasonable for the price.

We stayed here last night and I must say it was nothing special. The rooms are lit so poorly I couldn't do my makeup properly. The hall way is very dark and dated. I'd probably say the nicest part of the hotel is the entrance! Staff were friendly. The breakfast was OK, scrambled eggs was very mushy. Don't think our stay was worth £130 more like £89 Would not stay again.

I often book through Best Western and this hotel seemed like very good value considering it's area and that it was rated a Best Western Plus, which I would expect to be of a higher standard than the usual BW hotels. It was not, in fact it was, in many ways of a lower standard. I had no phone in my room, I had to wait for the chef to find me some restaurant staff before being seated. My meal was very ordinary and I could not eat the potatoes with my salad nicoise as they were undercooked. Small things on themselves, but enough to be a bit disappointing. On the plus side, the reception staff were friendly and helpful

We stayed here for one night after a local party and were very disappointed. The room was spartan in terms of decor, the bed was small and the pillows were lumpy. Noise levels were high due to poor insulation: one could almost hear every word said in the next-door room. The corridors were made of exposed brickwork, with a carpet design that resembled splashes of vomit: not attractive in the slightest. The staff were all young and seemed disinterested in what they were doing. The breakfast was pedestrian and somewhat over-cooked. At £104 incl. breakfast, it was not cheap. we will not be returning.

We had our wedding here on May 1st 2016. Firstly would like to say that Ben the events coordinator was amazing. He supported us every step of the way & went above and beyond. Being pregnant and planning a wedding had the potential to be super stressful but Ben couldn't have made us more at ease. The hotel did everything possible to meet our needs. From the planning, to the stay there we received impeccable service. The wedding itself went perfectly thanks to the lovely staff and management. The events staff and bar staff are fantastic, can't fault them. We had so many compliments on the food and the atmosphere. Would highly recommend this hotel and in particular Ben and Megan. We had an amazing day, thank you so much!

I came to London to see friends and am glad to have found this hotel. I booked a double room at a very reasonable rate for 3 nights. Check in was quick and easy yet the staff took the time to ask me about my journey and my plans for the weekend which was nice! Receptionists were able to tell me about places to visit in London and printed me maps and directions, they were really helpful! Easy to get in to London aswell as there is a central line station nearby. My room was incredibly clean an the bed was very comfortable and I slept well! As it was situated by the forest it was very quiet. The restaurant had a varied menu, I had breakfast each morning which was great and there was lots available and also ate in the evenings, the food was really well presented and was good quality and price They have a 'snug' area in the bar which was a really lovely place to sit in the evenings and have a glass of wine with friends! I was so pleased with the excellent service from all the staff here, friendly, chatty and helpful, yet very professional and seem to enjoy it! I would not hesitate to come back here and stay again. Excellent value for money.

The hotel is in a fairly quiet location with lots of free parking. The rooms are adequate for the business traveler. The food in the restaurant is very poor the salmon was dry and boiled potatoes were dirty looking the whole food presentation was very bland and tasteless - I refused to eat it.

The night we stayed there was a wedding on and we were not disturbed at all , we would stay here again.Ground floor rooms available too. Car park good and booking was easy.

Stayed on 3rd floor, fire doors were fixed in open position despite signs on doors. Only 1 sugar, 1 bag and 3 milks left in room tray on 2 days. Had to get extra supplies from reception. Room key stopped working once, had to get reset by reception. One room window hinge broken - very difficult to close. Spiders web on other window - not cleaned before we arrived? Nowhere to hang wet coats, other than on wardrobe hangers. Dated (1970's) look to reception. At breakfast on Sat 23rd at 10am -- no bacon, eggs or tomatoes. No waiting staff or cooks in kitchen so had to ask reception. Eventually, at 1015 after waitress came back from outside and a cook reappeared the missing food was replenished. There was no fresh fruit on any day. Room sink became blocked (slow emptying). After reporting this to reception, maintenance staff partly cleared the sink.

Stayed here 2 nights on a winter deal.We used this hotel as our base to go into London as it is only about 20 minutes stroll to South Woodford tube station. The room was spacious and clean with a very large bed, Wi-Fi worked well in the room. The only downside was the over bath shower which seemed to have poor pressure every time we used it so consequently took ages to shower. The bar service was excellent. We had an evening meal in the restaurant after returning late from London which was reasonably priced and the service again was great.Breakfast was good, plenty of choice. We were worried about onsite parking space but there was plenty.Would definitely stay again if in the area!

The hotel has been refurbed to an okayish standard a bit rough around the edges but the staff more than make up for it!! They go above and beyond, room service is reasonably priced and extremeley tasty. Rooms are comfy and there's plenty of parking only one issue is its rather hidden and the road to it is rather destroyed so not the greatest for sports cars be warned.

Hi I stayed here over the Easter weekend with my family. On arrival we were greeted with a friendly smile. Then my kids were given Easter eggs by the reception staff which obviously made their day. Very nice gesture indeed. We decided to order some sandwiches before we left in the afternoon. These were nice and what I would expect from a Best Western Hotel. Later at the bar the staff were very friendly and I could they were having banter about the football that was on the telly! This is always nice to see. Our Bedroom was clean and of a decent size for a family. Breakfast was include in our room rate for Easter Sunday. The kids loved it! Food was hot and I ordered some poached eggs which was great. All you need to do is ask and the staff will do there best to help.

Checked in here on Good Friday! check in was easy, friendly and efficient. Had a bar meal that evening before going out to meet friends in London. The food looked and smelt great, was also very tasty! just what I needed before heading out for the night in town. I was surprised how close this Hotel was to London, only 25 mins to central London on the tube!! Room was clean and comfortable without being flashy. Had a great nights sleep. We had breakfast before we left on the Sat, got a special price at reception. Breakfast had a good choice and was good value for money. Defo stay here again for our next trip to London.

Arrived late afternoon good Friday to be greeted & booked in by friendly, helpful staff, they gave us all the info we needed & also made my 10yr olds day by giving him an Easter egg & telling him the free wifi code. We used this hotel as our base to go into London as it is only a few minutes from South Woodford tube station. The room was immaculately clean, had everything we needed, we had a double room that had a double sofa bed for our son. Cannot fault the room at all. Housekeeping was great, replenishing everything that we'd used. We used the bar & drinks were good (plenty of choice) & very reasonably priced (bonus) we also had an evening meal here too (room service as we were tired after our long day out) also reasonably priced, service was quick & food was lovely, can highly recommend the burgers! Breakfast was great! Lots to choose from, lots of cereals, fruit, continental, full English, & drinks to match. Plenty of onsite parking. Staff were alway friendly, polite & helpful & we will definitely stay here again, the price of our stay was very good indeed £199 for two adults & one child 3 nights bed & breakfast over the Easter weekend!!

I stayed here for one night with my family, we went to bed at midnight after a party but sleeping was difficult. The walls must be made of cardboard, it was possible to hear guests using the toilet and watching television in the rooms on either side of us. Noisy guests returning in the early hours were also a problem as the walls were so thin. Breakfast was very disappointing. Pastries were shown on the menu but they only had long life sliced bread available, nothing fresh. Pancakes could be ordered but these were unpleasant things which had been reheated out of a packet. I would have given this hotel one star, but it's redeeming features were comfortable beds and spacious (if a little dated) bathrooms.

Hotel was a disgrace to be fair feel like the staff looked down on us because we were on a cabin crew training course. Had no sleep due to the doors from other rooms opening and closing all night, you can literally hear everything. Bathroom was dropping to bits and the shower was almost useless, I would not stay here again

We were travelling to Norfolk so needed a base to travel from the following morning. We had comfortable overnight stay - the hotel did what it said on the tin! We had a good night sleep, the breakfast was adequate and it was easy access to North Circular and M11, with plenty of parking.

Cannot comment on the rooms as never stayed in the hotel overnight but did book for their afternoon tea as a gift for my Mum and was disappointed at the service received. Firstly I was asked for full payment upfront at the front desk, before even being sat down to the food. I was very surprised by this and don't think that is standard practice? Once sat down at the table, there were no plates to serve our food on and sat holding sandwiches in our hands, then no knives to spread butter or jam on the scones. I had to find a member of staff to ask for this equipment that should be standard with this type of food. When I asked the staff member for a few knives and plates for the food, he said he was going to get them but that we seemed to be getting on with it! It seemed too much effort on his part. I would not recommend having the afternoon tea at this hotel and it has put me off of recommending anyone for anything there.

Convenient for quick access by car to London, Reasonably priced but slightly dated hotel. Staff friendly, not the first time I have stayed here and if in the north east London area will probably use it again. The corridor was noisy at night with people nattering but I understand another resident complained and the porter tried unsuccessfully to sort it out.

My visits to this hotel have been of a consistently good standard - beds are comfortable, rooms are clean, staff are friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is plentiful. The staff at this hotel seem to go the extra mile for you - bar staff gave us complimentary nachos once when there was a problem with their oven, at check-in the receptionist has price matched my room with other family members booking in at the same time, and they just seem to genuinely care about you. Friendly. Comfortable. Clean. Good breakfast. I can't imagine what else you need.

We recently held our annual Cycling Club Dinner and Dance at this hotel and were absolutely thrilled with everything and everyone involved. The Events Coordinator was most helpful with all the planning beforehand and on the evening everything went to perfection. The function room was clean and bright and welcoming and the staff on duty were all very friendly and helpful. Our three course meal was absolutely perfect, a complete hit with everyone – first course soup then slow cooked feather blade of beef to die for, cooked to perfection and served piping hot on hot plates (a must in my book), and delicious strawberry and rhubarb cheesecake to finish. SINCERE COMPLIMENTS and congratulations to the Chef and his team. Following the event a number of us were booked into the Hotel for the night, a lovely idea, and once again I have nothing but praise for everything: the Hotel rooms were clean and warm and cosy and breakfast in the morning was again very enjoyable, fresh and well prepared and plentiful. Altogether we had an excellent weekend, very relaxed, everything perfect, good value for money, and WE THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND THE VENUE and have already booked in for our next Dinner and Dance in January 2017. We extend a huge thank you to one and all.

Clean, warm and comfortable room with a king sized bed (121) The bathroom had a full sized bath and plenty of vanity area. The wardrobe was roomy but there were no shelves or drawers anywhere. We stayed Thursday and Friday night and the hotel was very quiet. We were sat on our own in the bar by 9pm each evening. The staff were helpful. Having read previous reviews I was expecting lots of noise. The hotel is set down a lane and about 5-7 minutes walk to the nearest pub and a further 10 minutes to the suburb of Woodford with a range of shops, bars and restaurants. It's a 25 minute walk to the tube station and a 30 minute journey direct to central London. We used the hotel as a base and visited London and Essex. Not sure where the plus comes from as there are no leisure facilities for guests other than bar and restaurant. The hotel does have conference facilities and a function room for hire, but neither appeared to be used when we stayed.

Stayed here mid week for business. Room was freezing, thermostat was broken, boiler gad packed up so had to have cold showers, hair dryer was ridiculous! Didnt work properly, duvet was wafer thin and food was mediocre at best. The only saving grace were the bar staff who were smiley/friendly.... avoid this place at all costs a total waste of money. We'd have been warmer sleeping in the car!!!

We went to a Wedding Reception and booked a room overnight. The reception was fantastic - one of the best we'd been to. The staff were very attentive and friendly, from Reception to bar staff to waiting staff. Our room was clean and comfortable - we had a family room and the children fell asleep in no time. We had a really good night's sleep followed by a varied, leisurely breakfast. A real bonus was the late 12pm checkout, which meant we could all go back to the room for a snooze before leaving.

Plus? What does this mean, Should be a MINUS! Room a Minus - It was extremely cold because of large curtains covering the radiator so all the heat went behind it and out the window so you had to choose between warmth or privacy as in the room I was in I was easily looked over by other hotel rooms. Room Plus - nice shower & Shower Gels and plenty of towels Restaurant service a minus - waited ages to get served because they were all chatting somewhere else. Ordered the soup which turned up without the onion ciabatta and with a roll that was so hot and hard it must have been nuked in the microwave, the soup tasted like packet soup and not tomato and basil as described. Breakfast service a minus, one girl on duty who found it very difficult to say Good Morning until you said it! She was very attentive however she didn't seem to smile much then ... I pretty much got the impression she wanted to be somewhere else and to be honest based on this stay so did I! Checkout a Plus - The bill was accurate but I felt sorry for the lovely young lady on reception trying to juggle a keyboard and mouse on what appeared to be a small upturned plywood box - not a good impression for customers the other side of reception paying up to and in excess of £100 a night. In all honesty although I am not a builder I felt like popping down to B&Q and buying a cheap bit of worktop, having it cut in two and then putting over the top of the plywood boxes which would have looked more attractive and given the staff a bit more room to work. All in all I'm afraid the minus's out way the Plus's - this seems to be the norm for this property based on my 3 or 4 visits here over the last year ... the management either do not read the feedback or just cant be bothered to improve based on this feedback, perhaps Best Western need to do a surprise visit and shake the whole thing up as I stay in many Best Westerns being a diamond for life member and this is quite down in service and staffing levels that others offer. Unfortunately this hotel and its ambiance still feels very much like the holiday Inn it used to be! Doubt I will return for a 5th visit!!!

Got this hotel at a fantastic price with breakfast included but the breakfast was below standard. It wouldn't put me off staying again, I would just have cereal and toast. The lack of an ironing board and iron hindered our stay as I needed to iron our outfits for an evening out. No phone in the room so couldn't ring reception to ask for one, rang reception on my mobile but no answer! had to make do with crumpled clothes!

I booked a room last week to attend a family gathering nearby and was pleasantly surprised! We booked a family room which was spacious, clean, mattress on the bed was very comfortable! Room was also quiet considering it was a Saturday night. Didn't have dinner although the menu looked reasonably priced and good value. Breakfast on the Sunday was hot and looked very appealing. Tasted nice and again great value for the price we paid. Got our young kids for free!! Staff where friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Great stay and would definitely recommend it!!!!

We had such great service in the bar from Oliver and Imogen that we didn't want to leave for our party. They were friendly, welcoming and couldn't have done enough for us. Had a great stay at the hotel with my family. The hotel was an excellent base for going out in London and the Westfield shopping centre. The staff were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were nice and comfy and everything we wanted with our stay. The breakfast was great in the morning and the staff were friendly with my children. The Dinner in the evening was lovely, well presented and tasted good. Also free wifi was certainly a good perk as well. Overall an excellent stay and look forward to returning for another trip to london to the Best Western!!

I stayed at this hotel with my parents who were travelling from France. Was not expecting much for the price we paid but was pleasantly surprised. We found it tricky to find this hotel as it is basically between a forest so was exhausted when we arrived. However the cheerful reception team instantly cheered us up. Check in was very fast and informative. Receptionist helped my parents to the room with their luggage. The room was fine was a bit cold but this was quickly resolved after calling reception within 10minutes we was given a small portable heater and a blanket. Local area seems dull but isn't. Ask Chanel where to go, nothing is too much for her. She gave us recommendations and printed us off directions. We will be back.

This was one of many business stays. My experience first started to go down hill on check-in when confronted by a rude and argumentative operative on front desk caused by me not wanting to hand over my email address and mobile phone details for obvious reasons to avoid spam emails and calls. Then on entering the main hotel/room, it was noted that the standards are leagues below other alternatives such as Premier Inn's and Holiday Inn's even though this hotel has undergone a recent refurbishment! I was then to use the on site dining facilities which were down stairs. I had to ask to be seated within the restaurant, where my order for food and drink was taken. I received my drink within 10 minutes, however, a further 45 minutes passed with no starters. I then found the manager and expressed my thoughts where he then apologised and said it will be with you shortly. 10 minutes later I then received my starters (garlic bread - not exactly rocket science to produce), further 15 minutes went by until I got my mains which was very average. Personally this is just not acceptable and seems to be a common trait in hotels these days where they employ people for minimum wage and the operatives just do not care of looking after the customers needs. I will be expressing to my company not to use this hotel in the future for me or other operatives as it just doesn't come up to a reasonable standard. Especially when after a hard day at work all you want is to stop somewhere and for it to be hassle free.

I stayed at this hotel earlier this month for business in the city and I must say, everything about my stay was fantastic! Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The staff were extremely friendly, especially Harris Megan and Oskar who were brilliant at the bar and restaurant. They were lovely and helpful, they made my stay very enjoyable!The food was great value and tasted great, I'd definitely recommend this hotel. Having stayed in many hotels over the years I rarely bother with reviews unless abroad or there was something exceptional about it. This is the opposite unfortunately and for all the good stuff I am; even 2 days after staying here, still bemused by my treatment and the comments made by the front desk regarding my stay and feel obligued to share the experience in the hope others fair better. Let me start by saying that in general the staff were very helpful and the young lady on reception very polite and responsive. Her boss, the so called front desk manager Carl is however rude beyond belief. On arrival at the hotel check in was swift and easy but I should have taken more notice of the 2 ladies who were complaining about noise; one of whom was in tears. The room itself ( a single) was clean, functional and on the 2nd floor. The bathroom was small but clean and the space was adaquate and what you would expect of a single in a mid budget hotel. be aware that if you are over 5ft 8 I would book a double. Due to the general noise of the hotel and only staying in the room for a shower and to get changed I did not notice the major issues with the room at this point. The shower has 2 settings, freezing cold dribble and scolding torrent. I mentioned this to reception that evening and said that I would fiddle with it more in the morning in the hope of setting a tempature. To the young ladies credit she did offer to change the room which I did not take up for such a minor issue, having already unpacked. I wish now that I had. Following dinner out with friends I returned to the room at approximately 11:30. Directly under the room (203) is a function room. This I was unaware of at check in but becomes very apparent at night if there is a function. The function finished around 12:30 and i was then subject to approximately 45 minutes of the doors from the function room and the stairwells crashing continuously as people left. I believe that having only one lift which carries only 2 people does not help when people leave the area and so you get the stairwell door noise. This was followed by a further 30-40 minutes of guests crashing through fire doors and having a jolly good giggle as they went from room to room and up and down corridors. I phoned reception but no-body answered. During all of this noise I also noticed that the radiator had a very annoying tick tick tick which lasted for about 20 minute then stopped for 5 before starting again. Its amazing what you hear when you cant sleep due to noise. At about 1:45 things calmed down just leaving the annoying ticking from the radiator. I was woken at 6:20 having had intermitant sleep due to the ticking radiator by guests crashing through the stair doors directly outside the room. This is not the worst nights sleep I have had but that is because Ive slept in a tent during a hurricane. I ignored all this and did not comment until I checked out when before I left i commented to the desk manager that the room was very noisy and that maybe they should consider putting guests not at the function in the other wing of the hotel. The reply was "Oh I'm sorry about that but we are a party hotel." I was stunned and having been ready to leave decided I would instead complain. I was expecting an appology or at least empathy so said "I believe people crashing about and a disco under your room isnt really on, party hotel or not. They didnt stop the music till 12:30." Again I foolishly expected empathy but was told that "Well that was lucky then as our licence states 1:30 so they finished early. It clearly says on the website." Actually it doest, ive looked and though you can find it eventually if you're booking a room here nowhere on the site from the homepage to final booking does it state anything about this. I was tired and annoyed and so said "and you also need to sort the rads out up there they tick all night and the shower is a nightmare." The reply was "yes we know we have plumbing issues on the second floor but they will get sorted eventually." Im not a violent man but I left before I became one. Never have I felt so incensed by the comments of an individual that I phoned their head office to complain. I wasnt asking for a refund or raising a formal complaint but the treatment of a guest like this was awful. If you want a good nights sleep dont stay here on the 2nd floor and if you do please have the grace to not complain to the front desk manager as he sees you more as an annoyance than a guest. There are good staff here which is why this doesnt say terrible.

My partner and i stayed here and we can only thank the team for being polite and providing a great service. The staff were ever so friendly, and the hotel was very clean, our bedroom was immaculate. The food offering was quite big for both dinner and breakfast. On the two occasions we ate, the food was very tastey, with a wide selection on the bar and breakfast menu. The free car parking and wi-fi was an added bonus and overall provided great value for money. Thank you Best Western.

Quite a basic hotel. Has everything you need. The two girls on reception have great banter which is always refreshing. The rooms were very clean albeit quite cold. I mentioned this to reception and the guy came showed me how to use the heating on the air conditioning system. Great location for london sight seeing

Have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and the staff are always very helpful & friendly. I stayed here with a colleague on a business trip and would stay again. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the bed was very cosy! Every member of staff we encountered was amazing. So helpful, polite and smiley :) the only problems we had was with an alarm bleeping in the hallway all night and the tapping noises from the pipes which everyone seems to complain about so I know it's a common issue. But other than that the food was nice and our stay was pleasant.

A really enjoyable dining experience with a really well presented room. The food was very tasty and the portion size was perfect. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and polite. Our room was spacious and feet clean. The air conditioning was a great bonus. Breakfast in the morning was equally as good. A great selection and everything was hot. The morning staff were very friendly and accommodating. Check out was made very easy and Katie on reception and very courteous. A very happy customer.

Booked here to visit friends and family over the weekend. It was Clean, Comfortable and Great Value. We arrived on the Friday and had a very Warm Welcome from the Reception staff. Always smiling they were. Dinner on the evening was excellent and the service from the Bar staff was even better. Remembering drink orders the next day!! wifi was free and fast. Breakfast good value and tasted delicious. Good selection for the money we paid. The bedroom was Clean, comfortable. Tv was very good, great selection of channels which is a must these days. Overall I would recommend that anybody come and stay here. Good links into London and very pleasant staff. Great service, well done Best Western!!

Stayed one night as going to a function nearby I was pleasantly surprised we paid a low rate so I was not expecting much .We were warmly welcomed by the staff who couldn't do enough for you the standard room we booked was spotlessly clean and modern the bar food we ordered was of good quality all in all I would recommend this hotel for real value for money

Stayed here for 4 nights for business. Reception & bar area look good & modern against my initial thoughts from the outside, with the hotel looking dated. Unfortunately once inside my room, my initial thoughts were true to word. It's been attempted to modernise with nice desk area etc but with the horrible dark carpet, old tiles & tired looking bathroom. There was a massive spiders Web hanging from the curtain edge. For me that does not bother but for some!! Drinks & food very expensive & basic menu. £2.50 charge for a small coke. Despite only 9 people in the restaurant, it took almost an hour for food to arrive. The lad serving was very apologetic & pleasant so did not complain. 3 of the days stay we came across food left outside a room 2nd floor. This was directly across from the lift or stairs, so stared u in the face. For 2 days the same food was left there, stinking this area. I went to report at reception to which the chap on evening shift stated he knew about & in process of moving. He stated it had not been there 2 days, but I disputed this as it was the exact same from night before & at 7 in the morning when walking past (Had been added too with more orders, see photo) He again argued back with me, resulting in me having to really bite my tongue due to his rudeness. Even if he was correct, which I know he was not, he should be more polite in front of other guests. If u stay here then 5 mins walk is the royal oak pub ( turn right when exiting hotel). My company had around 16 members from around the country going here for evening meals. Food & drink fantastic & bargain with great choices & friendly staff. Just witsh we knew about on first night. Hotel breakfast awfull & all 3 of us felt ill after eating due to being fatty. Stick with the toast & cereal I would suggest. The location of hotel is great & very quiet, so this is the bonus of staying here. Would I stay again? Yes but go to the pub for evening meals & drinks. It's bed for the night.

Reasonably priced hotel (over Christmas) in a good location. The rooms could do with some drawers. If you're staying more than 1 night you end up living out of a suitcase. I didn't eat at the hotel apart from breakfast and the quality of the breakfast varied from one day to the next. It's a buffet with the hot food in large metal containers. If you can serve yourself when the food has just arrived from the kitchen it's hot and mediocre. Once the food has cooled down the cold (and greasy) bacon, cold sausages, cold eggs (fried or scrambled) and cold fried potatoes didn't appeal.

This hotel is ideally situated for us to be near our daughter. husband and family. This visit was to spend Christmas with them. The hotel is always welcoming and friendly. The bedroom is spotlessly clean, nicely decorated with a large comfortable bed. There is a good variety of food for breakfast to choose from. It also has plenty of parking.

I stayed here the weekend before christmas and was pleasantly surprised. The surroundings are lovely and a great location for just outside of London but very easy to access. There was a Christmas function going on, which was quiet loud, but after reading reviews i expected it. The staff here are great. Very approachable and by no means robotic. Breakfast was a little bit busy but tasted good and was plentiful. A very enjoyable stay!

Overall I would say we had a good night! The room looked great and the tables were dressed nicely. From the comments I heard on the night, I would say it took a long time for the meal to be served and I don't think it actually finished until around 10pm. I actually enjoyed my meal! I think it would have been better if it hadn't finished at 12pm as you felt you had just about finished eating and then it was all over quite quickly. I did think it finished at 1am. I think it did offer value for money.

"Drab Dull"

Breakfast, supposedly hot was almost all cold (buffet style) and half an hour late to published start. What lights are in the room (illustrated) so dim you can barely see! No good if you need to do paperwork. Shower run so slow barely a trickle of water, don't bother with a shower! Huge bed, nice and comfy, tiny mirror. Photos look bright...it's not. Dull decor, strange photos of people in breakfast area with no relevance to hotel or surrounding Famous Epping Forest! This is supposed to be a Best Western Hotel, worst I have stayed in, expected better. Comfy and clean though. Didn't seem to have a lift ( no obvious signs for a lift.

One of the Best Western hotels that doesn't make a difference. It's over the top and on its way to be old and outdated. Only thing were they stand out positive, their free wifi is fast - and that's a great thing. All in all an okay stay, but nothing special...

Friday 4th December was our date for the works Christmas party. We decided to have it at the Best Western Plus hotel in Woodford as there was a lot of us (22) and we wanted somewhere where we could have a meal and a disco afterwards. The booking was very straightforward and Ben was very helpful and efficient. When I arrived on the night I was very pleased with how the tables were decorated and the food was good considering the cost was only £26.95 all inclusive. EVERYONE in our group said what a good night they had had and they were very pleased and had no complaints. We are planning to go there next year for our Christmas do but I will try and book it earlier so that we can get the date we want.

Having stopped in numerous Best Western hotels I would rate this as one of the worse. Was given an upgrade to room 125 a so called deluxe room. Nothing deluxe about it beside air con room was badly lit . Had breakfast the following morning and wish I hadn't bothered buffet style which looked like been sat for hours. Next night stopped in room 308 a family room. Don't expect any sleep as the radiator system keeps you awake all night and sounds like somebody is banging the pipes with a hammer.

I returned late Saturday evening from Manchester to form and see my grandchildren. This hotel is very conveniently located in the London and Essex area making very accessible. Check in went smoothly thanks to Carl. Upon arrival to the bar I was greeted by a bright young smile which belonged to a delightful employee called George, who was very helpful with assisting me with my bags to my room and I was delighted with my room once again Also very Christmassy, a very festive hotel with plenty of character

We had our annual night out last weekend and we all had a great time. The service was very good and the food was very well presented with quick service. All the team were polite and only happy to help. Our bedroom was clean and well maintained with a powerful shower! Breakfast was very good with a great selection, excellent valurpemfor money. Thanks to Ben who organised the event, looking forward to 2016 already.

We were looking for a venue to enjoy a Xmas party for 17 people. And what a great find the Epping Forest Hotel was!! From the initial booking to the actual party, everything was so easy. The staff were so friendly and the event itself was amazing, with great food and disco. We'll definitely be back next year!! Thank you very much - will certainly be recommending you to others.

Receptionist pleasant and efficient. Room - main part of the room was nicely decorated although dimly lit. Main problem in this part of the room was the noises coming from the radiator which interrupted sleep. Shower room was small. Cosmetic redecoration with new tiles over old but couldn't hide underlying problems which made it look tatty and not particularly clean. Loose, old toilet seat. A colleague had their sleep interrupted early in the morning by the laundry van arriving. Tried to contact reception but there was no answer. Breakfast was poorly organised with sausages and eggs running out, and us having to repeatedly ask for refills. Coffee machine 'out of order'. Background music, or should I say, occasional one-liners came from the audio system. Thought it was some sort of 'name that tune' competition. Lifts not working in the morning which was a real inconvenience as we were on the second floor and a couple of the party had mobility and breathing problems. Stairwells very untidy/messy. The waiters and staff who looked after us the night before during our function were pleasant and helpful.

I very rarely write reviews unless something needs to be shared. As a business traveller I enjoy staying in Best Western Hotels as each one definitely has its own charm. This however lacked any charm and appeal. The reception staff were discourteous and everything was too much trouble. Even when I explained that the radiator in the room was sounding as if it was being hit with a toffee hammer no one cared. I eventually slept in my vehicle. No one cared. Furnishing in the restaurant and bar were equivalent to that of cheap travel lodge. Even the room felt cheap and poorly maintained. Never before have I had a bathroom that I could touch opposite walls at the same time. Most definitely will not be staying here again.

Not a good stay here. Arrived Saturday afternoon and no phone or drinks bar in the room so had to go to the bar to order a snack. It was delivered to the room and the chicken wings were burnt. Couldn't phone to complain. Next day had to pay extra for a breakfast that was cold and tasteless. 3 weeks later I received my credit card details and found they had taken 2 payments out. 1 on the 24th for £106 and 1 on 25th for £120. Now I only used my card once so how can this happen? Even they can't answer my Question. I did get a £106 refund but what if I hadn't checked. Beware SOMEONE is on the fiddle at this hotel.

The staff at reception were fine, but everything else was very poor quality. Dreadful entrance, with cheap furniture - more like a hospital A&E. Bed was comfortable, but constant random tapping noise from heating pipes ALL night made sleep impossible. Faulty shower thermostat meant that you were either frozen or scalded in quick succession - and, because of the cramped size of the shower, unable to jump clear. Door key worked erratically - had to traipse down to reception twice to get a key card that worked. The name Best Western and the price made me expect minimum standards, but the whole experience was very depressing.

We arrived for a wedding here.the funny Tion room was very spacious a great bar with fantastic entertainment.y The three course meal was lovely soup to start a chicken roast dinner and cake and cream for desert followed by coffee there was plenty of wine to go around and the staff were very helpful to our very need. The facilities were clean and the facilities for the less abled were in place

I don't normally write reviews on these but I feel I have to say something about our experience there last night. We had a family birthday party arranged for about 40 people. It was booked approx 6 weeks ago by my cousin. She had booked the room from 8-12 pm and had paid in advance for a buffet also. She got a call on Thursday to say they had to change the party time from 9-12 instead of 8 as another event was booked in too. She was a bit shocked at the time and felt she didn't really have a choice as everyone was already invited. We had a lot of family flying in from Ireland as it was a very special family surprise so she didn't want to let everyone down. I arrived and was quite annoyed that this was the case and got in contact with the manager on duty yesterday, George, who kindly made things work for us. We arrived, all good and George was very helpful. Everything was going well until I went out to get a drink at 11pm to a closed bar. The lovely bar staff Imogen and George were on duty and explained that there was nothing they could do. We had a party booked there until 12 and didn't even get a call for last drinks. There was a wedding on upstairs and that bar was still open.. What makes our event different? I had to go and tell a very disappointed and sober room that this was the case and party was over. We booked the party UNTIL 12 . We were getting charged for a room until 12! If I wanted just a room I would of had the party at my family's house or just went to a pub FOR FREE!! I caught the Night Manager Robert as he was running out of the bar back upstairs. He couldn't even have a conversation with me he was that afraid and kept insisting he was bar staff and not the manager. He said there was no manager there and that everyone just did everything along with several other excuses to run away from me. What hotel holds events without a manager on duty??!! So bad that he couldn't sort this problem for us. So our big special family party was a let down due to your team selling something that didn't happen. All our family flew over to the UK for a 3 hour party!! And if I hadn't of called and made sure we got that room at the time previously booked, it would of been a 2 hour party!! Not impressed at all! Big thanks to Imogen and George for their help and maybe do some staff training for Robert! No more parties for us there.

We stayed here for one night as we were attending a wedding reception in the hotel. Having booked early, a special wedding party booking was later announced at a better price and including breakfast. I called the hotel to enquire whether I could be allocated the wedding party rate and was rudely told my booking was non refundable or changeable. I asked if we could at least be given a complimentary breakfast as we were still paying more for room only and again was rudely told no. The room was adequate but the shower was awful, a mere trickle of water changing constantly from boiling hot to freezing cold. The bed was rock solid, like sleeping on the floor. The receptionist was chewing gum whilst booking us in. The bar staff in the hotel reception bar were extremely slow and gave me the wrong change by quite a lot. I only ordered 3 drinks which took absolutely ages to make. I explained that the change was completely wrong and he had to get a calculator to work out the price of 3 drinks and the change from a £20 note. I worked it out in my head quicker and had to basically read out the prices for him. He then still gave me the wrong change. The bar staff at the wedding bar were completely different. Oskar and Harrison were excellent. Very early In the morning, the cleaning and maintenance staff were so loud in the corridors with no consideration at all for guests. I would not choose to stay here again.

I stayed here for 7 nights while away on business. The rooms were very dark with poor lighting which was difficult when trying to do work in the evening. Showers in the bathroom was tiny, luckily I'm small and slim otherwise I don't know how I would have got in and out without hurting myself. Ate in the hotel a couple of nights and received poor service and average food. 3 of us are there one night and all dishes were brought out at different stages with te last being 25 minutes after the first dish. Had an issue with hot water one morning and this was dealt with poorly by reception. The reception staff when I checked in however was lovely and polite and helpful. All in all it suited it's purpose but it didn't wow me, even for a hotel chain.

Unfortunately they had a function in the hotel until the early hours and being in a family room directly above it was not the greatest experience. It was noisy but the rooms were very hot to. The shower had no cold setting so was impossible to use. Parking was very difficult due to the function. The rooms are good but the corridors look a bit tired. Breakfast was of a good quality and staff were helpful if a little overwhelmed. Nice enough but not to be expected from a Best western plus hotel

Stayed here from 23/10 to 26/10 with hubby and daughter on a trip to London sightseeing. Very helpful receptionists. Printed a map for us of the route to the nearest tube station. Yes there was a wedding on our second night but apart from the music being loud the guests were not. Another do on our last night but only the music was loud and it went quiet by midnight. Only criticism was that the room was very warm - even with the windows left open, could have done with a fan! Overall a nice hotel set in the forest.

The room was very clean, standard of cleaning was very good, food was good, overall checking in and out process was efficient, however the reception staff could show a little more customer friendly service i.e eye contact and smiling go a long way, maybe a training issue even though it's the basics. I will definitely be staying there again as I have local contacts in the hotels area. Overall ideal and adequate.

We first turned up and was given a room that was very cramped, considering there was myself, hubby and our 14 year old daughter. The room was not made up for the 3 of us and when mentioned it they resolved the issue, there was only facilities for 2 people even though they had set our room up as 3 after we mentioned it. we then went for dinner, food was nice dessert however came out still frozen. After a pretty long day we then retired to our room to find the heating was making a knocking sound all night so therefore didn't get much sleep. We then made a complaint about the room and heating, we were then moved to a bigger room, which was a lot better for us as a family, We should have been upgraded as soon as we turned up as my husband is a platinum card holder. The receptionist at the time of arrival didn't seem to know what she was doing, she tried to charge us again and never seemed to smile!! They then failed to tell us there was a wedding going on... the music was thumping through our room, we phoned down to ask what time the party was going on till, to find a flustered receptionist on the other end saying we should have been told! they clearly cater for parties and leave their other guests out.. Over all not the best hotel we have stayed in.. My husband uses Best Western for his work journeys so stays in them all week so knows the quality, hence why we picked this hotel! we will be looking somewhere else in future.

Stayed recently and there was a initially a problem with accessible room which was requested = however that was rectified for the second nite and having stayed in many hotels over last 1 1/2 months, this is one of the best. The room the first nite was adequate although the bathroom was very small and the shower recess (whilst not over the bath) was minuscule. I ordered room service and that was fine - I didnt eat in the restaurant so cannot comment about that but for parking and accessibility - this hotel was fine

good location as I get into London by tube / over ground the hotel is generally quiet , some rooms on front and rear can suffer from extractor noise the rear extractors on the kitchen do shut down after 11.00pm there are chillers next to the bar so rooms directly above this can be intrusive. Rooms are comfortable. Food is acceptable but not great seems to be brought in pre- prepared.

I am a business traveller and travel a lot and stayed in a few best westerns and I am sorry to say this one is a no, they cater for the coaches and forget about the other guests, I got there at 20.30 and was told the restaurant is full and will take orders at 21.30. 21.30 came and was then told no orders till 22.00. So I asked am I going to get food they said more or likely not. At £110 a night I expected more. I asked the bar staff how come the restaurant is full, they said because of a coach trip. So to that end if there is a coach trip in the hotel the rest of the guests will not get food. The staff where not sympathetic at all and customer service is lacking.

Very courteous, friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were of a good standard. I had a problem with a broken window latch, within five minutes somebody was up to have a look. They couldn't fix it so within another ten minutes they had moved me to another room - excellent service. The bar feels part of the reception area and not separate but again the staff were very good. The food was very good, decent portion sizes and very good flavours. Only a twenty minute walk from the tube which was a bonus for working in London. Will definitely stay again.

2 and half hours for a 3 course meal. All the meals and plates were warm or cold, not as described on the menu. No apology. One young girl trying to serve 25 hungry people. Although several of us complained, nobody could be bothered to apologies.

Sadly there was a wedding reception going on during our stay and as a result the music was thumping through our room, coupled with the fact that our room was like a sauna sleep was almost impossible. We needed to leave early and asked about getting anything for breakfast at 6.30am and were advised "there will be cereals out but there won't be any milk ".

When we arrived at hotel we were given the card to open the door that wasn't working the guy at the reception desk could not manage to fix the problem after trying with another card he just opened our door with the master card and said we will not need to go out anyway. The tap in the bathroom was constantly dripping but knowing how our previous problem was dealt with we didn't feel like complaining any more. On top of that we were charged twice I explained to the person at reception desk that I already paid through last minute but was told that they definitely just take card number and I have to pay to hotel. When I checked my bank statement I noticed I was charged twice. When I rang hotel I was told that they were not to blame as it is all last minute fault. However, on the bank statement I clearly see one payment to last minute and then the other to best western I need the refund from best western but was told I need to call last minute they were very helpful (unlike best western in epping) and said they will contact hotel on my behalf to try to get me a refund.

Good location for the North Circular (A10) and for the motorway. Rooms are clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. I felt let down, however, by the lack of cupboard space. The wardrobe was a good size but there are no drawers. I felt somewhat cheated as I paid hotel prices but still had to live out of my suitcase.
