A good hotel in Luther's hometown. We didn't stay long, so we therefore didn't spend that much time in the hotel. Comfortable rooms, not that big but enough. Good service and a nice breakfast. Easy parking available.

"Good vacation in the heart of Wittenberg"
ksg48, 23 Septembre 2023

Short stay for business in this Hotel. Checkin and checkout was easy. Parking is in a basement floor with tiny access for cars. From there direct entry to the hotel. Spacey room with deposit box, minibar, good bed, windows to open, desk and chair, good wifi. Bathromm was ok, maybe some paint necessary, but everything worked. Bathtube with shower in a bathroom with space. Unfortunately, the tube is a bit high, not easy for old people. Probably,, they offer shower rooms, dont asked. Breaky is very good, fresh fruit, hot things (bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs), pastry, bread, butter, milk, coffee ham and cheese, cereals, everything in good quality available. Location is very good, at main street, but this is predominantly traffic free, except rubbish collectors and loud speaking people. Bar inhouse has good offers. I slept well, felt nice and stay there next time again.

"Great weekend in Lutherstadt Wittenberg"
hop-on-tours020, 31 Janvier 2023

Location was only 10 minutes walk from the main train station and situated in a pedestrian area. Room was spacious and the wellness at the top floor was very clean and relaxing. Would recommend this hotel.

"Fine hotel in Wittenberg"
germanfan, 10 Août 2021

Welcome and Employees: Parking garage (10 Euros a day) is behind the hotel should be programmed in your GPS to easily find it. Check-in was okay, but not especially friendly. Proof of corona test was required. Staff in the kitchen was helpful Room and Facilities: Location was good – only a 8 – 10 minute walk to the market square and all other sights. Room was clean and modern. Breakfasts Standard breakfast with a decent choice of food of hot and cold foods and some limited fresh fruit Summary and Recommendation: A fair-value when staying in Wittenberg. The hotel and room is exactly what you expect – clean, relatively modern and meets a specific expectation. Wittenburg is a wonderful town to visit and explore – especially for history fans.

"Room for improvement "
Ottinio, 24 Août 2020

I have been at the hotel for more than one week and every morning I have been looking forward to a cup cappuccino for my breakfast, but the coffee machine has been out of order for the entire stay. I even addressed the issue for the front desk more than once, but they seemed pretty relaxed about it and had no idea of when it would be fixed. That is not appropriate for a 4-star hotel. Beside that the hotel is nice but old and located near the city centre. The rooms facing West become extremely hot on sunny days and getting a comfortable good nights sleep might be a challenge as there is no A/C.

"Good Hotel but very BAD Restaurant!!g"
Tureikis, 15 Janvier 2020

Some good renovated rooms, good location at city center but Restaurant at the Hotel much below average, in fact really Bad! Good sauna and Breakfast! Underground parking lot at 10 Euros a day. Free internet but slow ..

"Excellent Experience"
taylorssix, 25 Septembre 2019

Just a few steps from Luther's house, this hotel was very quiet and immaculate. The breakfast was extremely fresh and very tasty. The area surrounding the hotel felt safe when walking around during the day as well as late at night. Parking was convenient and free. The room was the roomiest I've ever experienced at a Best Western. I highly recommend this hotel if you are planning a trip to Wittenberg.

"Everything was fine, but the reception! "
3May5, 10 Août 2019

Indeed to find the parking is confusing as the navigation is taking you at the front entrance which is pedestrian street. It will be helpful to give the navigation coordinates of the parking when a parking place is booked. It took me 20 min to drive around!!! Room is very comfortable and without air conditioner, which for 38C outside was not the best option. Opening the window during the night was OK and the noise from the pedestrian street was acceptable. Bed is very comfortable. Bathroom very clean and modern. Breakfast was lavish and breakfast area is big enough to accommodate the guests. Reception staff though was a bit confused. I didn't feel welcomed. I left the hotel in the morning but forgot my credit card at the reception and NO ONE called me the whole day. When I realized it was the evening in Berlin. Very disappointing!

"Our journey through Europe "
210elviaa, 07 Juillet 2019

In our way from Leipzig to Berlin, Germany, we stop at Wittenberg to visit Martin Lutherstadt. It is a very small town with its own history. Martin Luther lived here and had his college where he shares his Reformation doctrine. It's is also Very important to visit the church where he placed his 95 Thesis. From the train station you can walk to town and visit all the important places in a few hours, then continue your trip.

"A great location and wonderful hotel"
RJK_Chicago, 22 Juin 2019

This hotel is almost in a pastoral setting on the edge of the downtown area and even has a restaurant and cafés nearby. It is a very short walk into the downtown area as well. The room is quite large and well appointed. The only reason I did not give it five stars is the lack of air conditioning, which it probably doesn't often need. We had the wndows wide open all night because it was so warm. Mysteriously, despite the lack of air, we slept like the proverbial baby. Breakfast was idyllic and featured a most amazing array of food including a huge honeycomb for the honey. We ate outside in a courtyard. Love this place and the people who work here.

"Disappointed"
Sightsee35876269933, 13 Juin 2019

They need to have better cleaner furniture and better breakfast. The pictures on the website are misleading. IThe hotel cannot be classified as 4 star hotel. We have been to many 4 star hotels and this is by far the worst.

"Great location within pedestrian area"
franckfischer, 02 Avril 2019

Basic hotel but clean and comfortable. Rooms are quite small. Basic equipment. Hotel staff is friendly. Car park available but at opposite side of main entrance which makes it difficult to find (no signs around). Ok for 1 night stay

"Reformation Tour Group "
Robert J, 22 Octobre 2018

Wonderful location, walking distance to Castle Church, and other important Luther sites, clean rooms, excellent breakfast. Warning: two different people from our group went down the street to use the ATM at Volksbank and someone stole their card information from the machine and went on a shopping spree. The other individual had one withdrawal from the ATM but was charged for two. Beware

"Great location"
RNDMD, 21 Octobre 2018

The room was spacious and had appreciated amenities like a hot water maker, and bath robes (on request). It was clean and the location, right on the main street next to The Luther House and a short walk to the churches associated with Martin Luther, was ideal. The included morning breakfast buffet was good but coffee service was a bit slow (it took quite a while to get a half-filled coffee pot on the table, never to be refilled). We had a problem with a double booking -we had booked, then cancelled, then rebooked- but they failed to cancel the first booking even though we had a cancellation number. Even with the cancellation number, they would not cancel the second room and told us we were going to be charged 340 euros for a second room (they wouldn't even just charge one night and cancel subsequent nights. They were going to charge us the full stay). It took several calls to Booking.com (through whom we had made the reservations), and a few calls to the United States to get it straightened out. The desk clerk told us there is no manager at the hotel, it is managed remotely. Unfortunately, in a case like ours, it showed. When Booking.com finally convinced them that we had cancelled, and that they had notified the hotel about it previously, they cancelled the second room. A complaint in another review led to an apology and a credit of visit points, so they made it right in the end, but if you make any changes in your plans involving this hotel, make sure you follow up to make sure your reservations are done correctly. Unfortunately not having an on site manager makes any issues almost impossible to resolve.

"Pleasant hotel, unpleasant staff"
Oregon2Arizona, 09 Octobre 2018

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in October 2018. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet. The hotel is close to all of the important Luther sites. The breakfast was average for a German hotel. The staff however were very unhelpful and at times impolite. The staff speak very little English. On checking in we were informed that we had two rooms reserved. We had reserved a room through Expedia but had cancelled it a few months before. They had no record of the cancellation. The young woman at the front desk was not helpful and we were informed there was no manager at the hotel as it was managed from a central site in Mainz. We contacted Expedia who verified we had cancelled the reservation and they eventually resolved this with the hotel. Other staff members were unhelpful or in the case of the people serving at breakfast rude. Given Lutherstadt Wittenberg lives off of the tourist business and many of the tourists speak English I would expect a much more helpful and friendly staff and at least some of the staff capable of speaking English. Our rudimentary German got us through the visit.

"Great Location"
Gureni L, 25 Septembre 2018

The hotel is average and the food was also average but the greatest advantage was its location. It is within walking distance to all historic sites in Wittenberg and also within walking distance to the shops and eateries.

"Great location in Wittenberg"
NemoTraveler, 12 Juillet 2018

We stayed three nights. The location is excellent, close to the old town. Most sights and restaurants are within walking distance and one of the main sights, the Luther Haus, is next door.. There is a parking garage with direct entrance to the hotel. Access to the garage is from Wallstrasse behind the hotel, and the charge is EUR 10 per day. Very friendly staff at the reception, and a small box of chocolate was a nice touch. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet, facing the back of the building. As Wittenberg is a quiet place, I guess the rooms facing the front side are fairly quiet too. Our room had mini-bar, coffeemaker and a safe. We experienced very nice weather during our stay, and our room became rather warm during the day. Fortunately, the windows could be opened, as the a/c did not seem to be working properly. The included buffet breakfast was of good quality. The hot items, especially the bacon, less so, and restocking of some items was not perfect. All in all an enjoyable stay.

"Mediocre but passable hotel in a nice area, but horrible experience"
AKSteveB, 10 Juillet 2018

This was a total clusterfark. First was the fact that I had changed my arrival date through Best Western Central reservations and the hotel was unaware of this, and claimed to be "doing me a kindness" by "allowing me" to arrive one day later. OK, BW isn't a chain per se, just a licensee and this kind of thing can happen. The bigger issue was the same thing mentioned by a bunch of other reviewers. The "Air Conditioning" simply does not work. Begin period, end. I realize that in Germany as in much of Europe, only high end hotels have A/C, and given that most Germans believe that "artificial air" will get them sick, especially if it gets on their necks, that it is probably a non issue with most of their guests. Again, so be it, but for the love of G_d STOP advertising it as an available amenity. They claim to have recently fixed it, but all I can say is, the bathroom which is not in the A/C area is cooler than the rest of the room. Given that this is the only hotel in Wittenberg that even claims to have A/C, and that I had seen the previous reviews, I did make a backup plan with a hotel where the A/C is known to work ..unfortunately about 30 minutes away in Leipzig, but my productivity (and the comfort needed for that) is non negotiable. To add insult to injury, they claimed they could *not* give me an early check out, even though the only condition on the booked rate is that I would forfeit one night for a no show, followed by the usual rigamarole of "You will have to talk to the manager in the morning etc. etc.). Luckily I was able to contact BW Central Customer Service in the States and got it resolved. The room is quite large, and the food at the restaurant looks good, so it might work for some, but if you want A/C or considerate Customer Service, this isn't for you. BTW, this is my first negative review ever. I understand cultural expectations can differ, but false advertising is unacceptable. There is NO working A/C at this property and clearly there never has been.

"Disappointed"
JamesC4166UB, 02 Juillet 2018

The hotel is located in a good place at the edge of the historic center of town. 10-15 min walk from train station. Room was large, much larger than most European hotels. I had reserved an air conditioned room (their whebsite says some rooms have AC and some don't, I chose one that had AC because it was July and expected to be in the 80s). When I arrived, it was HOT in the room. Turned on the AC and air blew out of the vent, but it was not cold air. It was late in the day and after sunset, I was able to cool the room by opening the windows. The next day it was HOT again. I asked at reception and they said that the air conditioning was "under consruction". They provided a fan, which helped. But aggrevating because they advertise rooms with AC and didn't tell me at checkin that it was broken. Soap containers in the bathroom were out of soap, so shower was soap-less on first day. Breakfast was so-so.

"It was pretty food"
Stephanie C, 18 Juin 2018

The price was a bit high I thought but other then that it was good we did not hear any trains and slept pretty well we read in previous comments about the train noise which was not the case for us. Parking garage is very tricky so don't arrive with a large vehicle

"Very nice hotel on edge of city"
MichaelD3, 02 Mai 2018

I mainly chose this hotel due to it's location on the edge of the city and being worried about where to park. This hotel has parking behind the hotel, which is not too bad to get to, however if you are working here and out most of the day I recommend you park on the street down from the Lutherhaus where parking is free after 6pm. This is a 2 hr parking zone before 6pm, so even if you park before 6pm you will still be fine. It's about a 10 min walk to the city center which is perfect. Great location! Breakfast was good and rooms were good. No issues with this hotel.

"Psssst....a very nice place in Wittenberg to explore where Martin Luthers lived!"
jorgeseu, 13 Avril 2018

the location of the hotel is really unique ... in the city center not far from the train station and the Martin Luther house ... the house fits very well into the cityscape and seems to be historic ... everything is very modernized ... the Rooms are large and equipped with bath ... free fast wifi ... a bottle of water for free ... the staff is very friendly and helpful ... but be careful .. there are rooms to the train line ... there runs regularly the ICE and freight trains ... so there is also the deduction .. I could only sleep with the windows closed .. very good TV .. and hot water machine in the room for coffee and tea and a good desk to work ... the breakfast is great ... there is even porridge on offer ... great stay ... highly recommended ...

"Good"
Phillip D, 04 Novembre 2017

We visited Wittenberg on the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and happy to get rooms here. Everything at the hotel was fine. The train at the nearby station is a bit loud. The breakfast was pretty good. The hotel looks like it does most of its business with tour groups.

"Great Location"
Kristin S, 25 Octobre 2017

The rooms where cool. Location was close to everything. Clean and good food. Staff was courteous and kind. We had a bus of 48 and they allowed us to store our bags in a room since we got off our bus 3 hours before check in. They were very courteous in sitting out some water too.

"Perfect location."
Dan M, 12 Octobre 2017

Next door to Lutherhaus and walking distance to the rest of the Martin Luther sites. Also the train station is about a half mile from the hotel so an easy walk. Comfortable bed. Excellent shower. I mean lots of water and as hot or cold as you can stand. Lovely breakfast was included. I am not a fan of the breakfast buffet but this was quite good. A strudel and some heavy dark bread that you slice yourself. It appeared to be homemade jellies. And various meats - local wursts. A great cup of coffee goes a long way. Last but most importantly is the employees were very very nice. I don't speak German and they were incredibly patient. This hotel is one reason I would love to visit Wittenberg again.

"Great location"
Luciana K, 16 Septembre 2017

The hotel's location is great, very near to all the town's tourist attractions. The hotel is also easily reachable on foot from the train station. The room was very big, comfortable and clean. No tea/coffee making facilities though. There was no air conditioning, which made it very difficult to bear the hot summer days that reached over 30 degrees during our stay. Sleeping was difficult, despite the comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean and the shower provided plenty of hot water to a nice warm bath. The breakfast was delicious. The hotel has a restaurant but we opted to dine out. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay.

"Pleasant, comfortable, friendly hotel in the centre of the town"
abager, 10 Juillet 2017

I stayed here for one night during a bicycle trek along the Elbe. The comfort, convenience and friendliness of the hotel were welcome after a very long hot day in the saddle. My room was excellent and the staff were able to find me a room with a bath instead of a shower. Breakfast was excellent too.

"Luther 500 at the BW hotel"
Dublin-4Pat, 22 Juin 2017

This is an up to date review! We arrived in Wittenberg last Sunday June 18. We would have arrived two days earlier but couldn't get a hotel for Sat. night. We were checked though we arrived two hours too early to access our 2 rooms. Our bags were put in store. I am sorry to say that the female receptionist was brusque and snapped at me when I asked for the WiFi code! But she did give us our rooms well before 3 pm which we appreciated. The two rooms were on the 3rd and top floor. The hotel is about 25 years old but is well kept. The biggest problem we had was the high temperature of the rooms at night. We were there for 2 during a heatwave and suffered in the eaves/ attic of the hotel. Had I remembered in time, i would have asked for a sheet instead of a duvet. As for the breakfast, we found it very good. It was included in the price we paid for the rooms. But the price for the rooms was high because of the Martin Luther 500. We also had a good meal iin the outdoor dining area one evening and enjoyed the seasonal asparagus. The service in the restaurant was very good in every respect

"convenient location"
babarandceleste, 18 Juin 2017

We were in Wittenberg at a popular time for tourists because of the Reformation events and this being quite large, was the only hotel that had room. It is situated at one end of the pedestrianised High street which leads through the Market Square , past all the Museums , restaurants and shops to the world renowned Stadtkirche. We were in a room accessible for people with disabilities, although we did not need it to be, but it what was available so there was a shower seat which we did not need , but it was also just a walk in shower, What we did not like was the ugliness if the furniture, a dark wood with metal studs, green carpet and red and orange armchairs ( which were comfortable) and the lack of shelf space, so we had to live out of our suitcase, though there was room to hang clothes that required it, Breakfast was good with a hot and cold buffet with good choices, Staff were helpful and rooms were clean. It is a chain hotel without much character but as I said is in a convenient location, near the city centre and the railway station.

"Good value, spacious rooms, good breakfast"
Jim O, 16 Juin 2017

This was the most spacious place that we've stayed in the last couple of weeks. Not the closest place to the center of town, but not far (it's not that big a place) and it's convenient to the train station if you're coming that way. Staff are friendly, and they have a really good complementary breakfast (including bacon, sausage and eggs for us Americans).

"Comfortable and central"
Tom P, 10 Juin 2017

Just spending one night in Wittenberg, I wanted a central location, and this fit the bill. It's on one of the central walking streets of downtown Wittenberg, but at the quiet end, near the Luterhhaus. My room was large and comfortable with a view over the neighboring courtyard, with the tower of Luther's house a couple of houses away. Good breakfast and helpful staff. I'd stay here again.

"At home with Luther"
Lars K, 17 Mai 2017

The hotel is close to everything you could wish for a Luther visit. Wittenberg in itself is a quiet and charming place - good for shopping and eating out. Stadtpalais in itself is also very comfortable, quiet and nice.

"Convenient location"
ironlady2016, 22 Novembre 2016

The room was very nice with shower as we requested. WiFi adequate. The location of this hotel is wonderful to see the whole town - easy walking distance. The coffee/tea situation was not satisfactory as it was instant coffee with a pot to heat hot water, would much rather have had real coffee. Breakfast was excellent. Don't know if the bar and restaurant were closed due to being Sunday or the fact there were so few people in the hotel, but would prefer a full service hotel with dinner available when it is so cold.

"Luther Tourist Location"
StuDubai, 22 Octobre 2016

This is a pleasant hotel, relatively quiet in a quiet town. There are a number of bars and restaurants but if you are looking for wild nights this is not the town for you. If you want to enjoy a beautiful with very interesting history this is a great place to visit. The hotel has very comfortable rooms, food is good but the bar life is almost non-existent . So if you want a chat at the bar you may have to find a bar with people somewhere else. Pleasant staff and generally a friendly hotel.

"Liked BW Wittenburg"
Middleager, 14 Septembre 2016

Nice hotel in small town. Great location, right on the street of all main attractions; good breakfast; used 20k points for stay; would be nice if internet would be more consistently fast; would be nice of sauna is available during day time (not just evening); parking was 6.5 euro; overall nice hotel;

"No such thing as AC"
1972TexasGal, 04 Septembre 2016

I booked this hotel through Booking.com with a filter of "air conditioning". When we arrived in August 2016 it was HOT and our room did not have air conditioning. The front desk informed us that one cannot book "air conditioned" rooms through Booking.com and it would be an extra 10 Euros per night. We happily agreed and moved rooms. The "air conditioning" consisted of a noisy fan blowing hot air. We asked for someone to come check the "air conditioning" and she said it was working just fine. We requested a fan, which they did bring but we had a horrible 2 nights with temperatures in the 80s and no air conditioning. I have an issue with Booking.com as well as the hotel. The room also had no washcloths and towels were not changed even when put on the floor. The size of the room was good, view of Luther's residence was nice & the breakfast was okay. I would probably stay there in the winter months due to the location but I would never stay there again in the summer. I will admit this was not the only hotel where the air conditioning was insufficient but it was by far the worst as far as lack of air conditioning was concerned.

"Great Location for Luther tourists!"
W3882IIkarenm, 22 Août 2016

The hotel is fabulous -Nicely accessible for handicapped. Rooms were spacious and clean as a whistle! Does not have air conditioning, but we were able to open our windows. Some in our group were able to get fans for their rooms. Quiet location. All food we had was great. If it fits your budget, I would recommend this highly!

"Great location, great hotel!"
SpokaneLori, 25 Juillet 2016

Stayed here in July 2016 just for one night, while on a tour with a group touring the sites of the Reformation. This was one of the nicest hotels we stayed at, and it was in a great location! Easy walking distance to the main sites, and easy to stroll around the quaint town in the evening. The room was spacious and very clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Wittenberg!

"Great place to stay"
LadyBusinessTraveler, 10 Juillet 2016

The hotel was convenient to any of the Luther sites and walking around the city. All of the staff were very helpful. We could not have asked for a better quality and quantity for breakfast. The parking garage was meant for small cars; however, there was some limited surface parking for mid-large cars.

"Downtown, but not that good"
Tom C, 29 Juin 2016

I stayed here one night in June when it was about 35 degrees outside. After having dinner and drinks on the main street it's an short walk to the hotel. However, I slept only 3-4 hours due to the heat inside the room. I estimate it to have been about 25 degrees inside all night and it started warming up again at about 6AM as the sun started shining in. Very lousy for a branch hotel like this.

"Adequate "
User, 20 Juin 2016

A modest hotel at the edge of the town with good amenities. You need to walk about 1 km to most things. Local transportation almost non existent. Tends to receive large groups and then the dining room is full and noisy. Service adequate. Staff do not speak much English.

"Wittenburg"
jromalho, 15 Juin 2016

To see Luthers' place of learning, the university of Wittenburg and a history of the area as it relates to Christian teachings. At the time of visit there were a few local weddings in the square, as young couples made their commitment. It was an opportunity to learn about the culture and status of the community at the time of the reformation.

"Visit during a lull in the off-season"
GratfulVeteran, 24 Mars 2016

The checkin at the hotel was quick and seamless. The young woman at reception was very attentive to my needs and requests. Very nice breakfast buffet. Location is right next to Luther house museum, a must see! Room was clean spacious and comfortable. Very quiet and peaceful stay. Great italian restaurant across the street, if you don't want to eat at the hotel restaurant which was good as well. Very clean sauna and steam room in the wellness center. Underground garage was good. Just remember to enter through Wall street in the back of the hotel. The staff even let me tinker on the grand piano in the reception lounge area during the midday. Thank you, Best Western staff. It was a pleasant stay for a few days to tour the Luther sites. I recommend staying here.

"Alright"
Sazsazsaz, 01 Mars 2016

Stayed one night here during a business trip. Convenient hotel. Reception was very accommodating (since there was some kind of mix up and my room got cancelled accidentally, but they sorted it all) Had dinner in the hotel in the evening, which also was alright. Breakfast was a bit crowded and not the biggest selection I've ever seen, but did the job for just one night

"In the place you want to be"
Brian W, 14 Octobre 2015

If you are going to Wittenburg, you are likely going for Luther history. Well, this is the place to be. It is right next door to Luther's house! It was a perfect location for a lutherrtourist, it was on the street with all the important sites. The prices were reasonable, the staff was friendly and you can even take a steam to relax your Luther soaked muscles. Great stay!

"Great hotel in city center for a pleasant stay"
Niels G, 18 Août 2015

This hotel is great. The staff is friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean. The room has a good sized bathroom with bath and shower. There is also a desk to do some work if necessary. A free bottle of water is always welcome after a trip. There is also a mini bar and a good sized tv with a lot of (German) channels. The breakfast is perfect. Fresh bread and tea (or coffee) yoghurt, juice. You will not be disappointed!

"Excellent hotel in the heart of Wittenberg"
tmorgan, 14 Juillet 2015

The hotel is located in the heart of town and easily walkable to the Lutherhaus, city center and the City Church and Castle Church. The hotel rooms were very comfortable and quiet. Like most European hotels, the rooms are smaller than the average American hotel room, but this one had more than adequate space to open our luggage and move around. The bathroom was small, but again more than adequate. Breakfast and dinner were excellent meals - both the food and service were commendable. We stayed at the BW Stadtpalais-Wittenberg as part of a Reformation tour and were not disappointed. I would stay here again if we were to come on our own.

"Very nice"
Chrilleresesnille, 29 Mai 2015

One of my ranking top 5 hotel. Nice big rooms that are nicely furnished. The lobby and other common areas are nice. Most of the staff understand English so it's good to communicate. They are nice and service minded and surprises with details such as, for example, paint the breakfast eggs. The dinner was good and breakfast was as you would expect. Nice dining room to eat in

"Who drew a chicken on my egg?"
Kellytbear, 27 Mai 2015

This would have been a great hotel if they had enough staff in place. Everyone was cheerful, helpful and spoke and understood English reasonably well. It is in a beautiful town and a good center for the main cities in the area. It was clean and comfortable. Mealtimes were a disaster. The food was good and well cooked. The choices on the buffet were fine, or would have been if they had been able to keep up with re-filling. During the week they ran out of a lot of things in turn, the worst being one evening when the main course choice, chicken, ran out in the first fifteen minutes. It was twenty-five minutes before any more arrived. To be fair, another party had checked in. Did someone forget to tell the chef? But we did like the eggs. That made up for everything.

"Scaffoldberg"
Philippians4-6_7, 30 Avril 2015

Beware Wittenberg is preparing for the 500th anniversary in 2017 of Luther's publication of his theses. Both churches were closed for refurbishment in April 2015. Luther's house is next door to the hotel and that too was covered in scaffolding and tarpaulins but open. A sign in the elevator warns of possible noise from the building works but we had none over a weekend. Hotel opens on to a walking street and is an easy walk to the Market Square. Parking garage under the hotel with access at the rear.
