    « Very satisfied! »

The staff here were extremely welcoming, friendly, and helpful. For the price that I paid, the rooms were nice, clean. The free breakfast was great and included scrambled eggs. I used the shuttle several times and it was reliable and the drivers were very friendly.

    « A wonderful surprise »

Easy to find with convenient and easy parking. Perfect cozy little room for two. The decor and space was not what we were expecting; definitely above average with an antique, Victorian feel. Super clean and the bed was comfortable!! Can't beat that for a one nights stay. I definitely recommend!!

    « Not for big/tall people »

Basic, average motel room, but not for tall people. Tiniest bathroom ever! You have to squeeze between the wall and the toilet or stand in the tub to close the door. The bathroom ceiling was maybe 6 1/2 feet high and the showerhead was not height- adjustable. Poor flushability of the toilet, and the tub needed some serious scrubbing or bleaching. Furniture placement was awkward with a wobbly table jammed up against the bed. Location of this hotel is its best feature.

« Great location with nearby shops and restaurants and historical attractions »

Located close to I-95 with a great restaurant next door. Breakfast included at hotel. Outdoor swimming pool. 5 minutes from Nemours and Hagley Museum. 20 minutes to Mt Cuba and Winterthur. Less than 30 minutes to Longwood Gardens. Great restaurants in the area.

« Don't waste Your Time on a Hotel that is stuck in the 90's »

This hotel is antiquated and left much to be desired. Paying extra for a moldy, leaky Jacuzzi tub was not worth the $$$. Also, spiders were in the sheets when we stripped the bed so I am assuming the don't take stock in fumigating for bugs on a regular basis. SAVE YOUR MONEY

« Old fashioned but trying to be modern »

We normally stay at a nearby Doubletree Hotel when in Wilmington, but when I found it was sold out I chose the nearby BW. This is an old fashioned 60s motor court built around a center courtyard and pool. There has been some effort to modernize the facility but it still screams "tourist court!" Like many inns of its vintage, the earlier decades of cigarette small may never be removed from guest rooms, although someone has clearly worked on it. The complimentary breakfast is adequate, but somehow feels skimpy when compared to others in the neighborhood. If you don't have another choice, then this location will be adequate. Given a choice, however, you may be happier someplace else if your standards are above average.

« Good choice for Brandywine Valley »

I chose this hotel for its location and was not disappointed. It was near to all the Brandywine Valley sites I wanted to see and a short trip into Philadelphia. It was clean and the staff was nice. It is located on a main road, but we did not have too much noise at night. The breakfast gluten free options were sparse, but I appreciate that they did have them. It is a good value for the price.

    « A weekend getaway »

We selected a package deal that included 2 nights at the hotel and 3 pairs of tickets to local tourist attractions. Our stay was quite enjoyable and the attractions we visited were outstanding as well.

« keep driving by this place! »

The room smelled of mold and was not clean. we immediately reported this and checked out and we were told that we would be charged for our stay anyway. we were treated rudely and were unable to believe that this was a Best Western.

« Disappointed in Best Western »

I always stay at BW hotels, specifically in Plattsurgh, NY and of course expected the same type of service. This hotel looks nice from the outside, the pool was not too bad, it had a hot tub as well. The service was so so, the rooms were very small with a distinct "not fresh" smell inside. The bathroom was so small that the door had to be completely closed in order for you to use the toilet. The decor was old, the fridge froze everything. The tv was on dark at all times, the water in the sink only had hot water. The breakfast was so disappointing. (eggs dry, no bacon or sausage, waffles, just boring overall) The beds were not comfy, the sheets and blankets weren't very nice. I have to say I am NOT a complainer at all, but this was a real disappointment after staying at the BW, Plattsburgh. I originally booked a regular room and got an upgrade as a BW member, but the upgrade was literally same exact room as the regular one (i know because i checked both)

« Overnight in Wilm., DE »

Nice hotel with several restaurants within walking distance. A very friendly staff in a secure setting. The breakfast buffet was sub-par as far a selections go but the location and secure feeling more than made up for the breakfast.

    « Nice hotel »

I stayed at Best Western Brandywine Valley Inn, Wilmington, DELAWARE 2nd time in past 1 month for Business travel. Hotel location is nice on the highway, lot of parking space, Comfortable rooms, WiFi as well as complimentary breakfast !! Nice stay overall.

« Less Than Best at Best Western »

It was not clean, the remotes didn't work, the air conditioner was falling apart, and the dead bird in the pool area for hours with employees walking by it did not help either. To add to my experience, I am now being charged $250. for smoking in the room. Funny thing, I am allergic to cigarette smoke. My husband is a smoker and smokes outside at home, does not smoke in the car or anywhere near me , and surely not in a hotel or motel room. He was outside at this Best Western and used the ashtray on the wall provided by the hotel. NOT VERY HAPPY!

« Nice place in Wilmington, »

I stayed a week at the Best Western Brandywine Valley Inn in Wilmington Delaware. I read the reviews and decided I would take a chance and stay. The Inn was a pleasant surprise. The staff was helpful and pleasant. The accommodations were above average. There was a lot of upgrades going on at the Inn while I was there, painting, resurfacing of the parking lot, power cleaning, all of which just put the sparkle on this gem

« Very helpful guest staff »

We arrived at hotel late, about 11 pm and found out we were booked on second floor with no elevator. No problem said the night clerk, as she juggled the bookings so we could have a ground floor room. She also had another night staff member assist us with our luggage

    « Ugh. »

UGH. Ditto with the wifi being terrible...I guess you get what you pay for with "free wifi." We were promised a room to drive up to and ended up being upstairs, which sucked for Dad who has COPD and we thought we'd be on the first floor. Saw no bugs or anything like that. Our room didn't have the ugly wallpaper that another reviewer posted about, was a basic hotel room. The fridge quit working in the middle of the night and my dinner leftovers spoiled. The toilet made strange noises after you flushed it. Honestly, had I read the reviews of this place before, I wouldn't have booked. This is the definition of lipstick on a pig--you can see the bones of an old motel that maybe once was awesome but the attempts to update failed. I was so ill about the experience that I refused to eat breakfast. It was a terrible ending to an otherwise wonderful vacation.

« 60's design and hard beds but great location, clean & pleasant »

As a recent review noted, this hotel has 60's design with exterior entry doors, no elevators to the second floor, and tiny bathrooms with narrow doors. However it was a great location--we enjoyed hiking and jogging at Alapocas Run State Park, less than a mile south, eating twice at the adjacent Hollywood Grill, and the wonderful Brandywine River Museum (with paintings by the Wyeth family), about 10 miles north. Also the design with the pool in the central courtyard worked well for meeting up while kids swam (I was there for a summer family reunion). Pluses: location; fridge and microwave in room. Minuses: the beds were pretty hard (although no one else in my family complained), and the room doors are so old that some were quite hard to open.

« Stayed at this hotel because of previous stay and close to family reunion site »

I stayed at this Best Western about 5 years ago and I remembered how I liked it. Not only was it clean and the staff friendly, but we loved the pool and hot tub location and the fact that is was open till 10 pm. I would recommend this hotel and I would stay again if in the area.

« Disappointed- not worth the money »

Paid about $170 per night for a very mediocre property. Looks like 60's vintage design...exterior entry doors, no elevators to the second floor, tiny bathrooms. The DNC was going on in Philly about 30 mins away so I HOPE that is the reason my rate was so high. Booked through my company's travel site so I have no idea if that is rack rate. No lounge nearby, the Hollywood Grille in front of the hotel is really a diner. Just went out to sit by the pool and 2 hot tubs when I was told that they were closing the pool area (8:30, really??) Front desk person was awesome. Very competent and friendly. Checking in, unfortunately, was the high point of this hotel. If the rooms were $75 a night, there would be no room for complaints.

« excellent stay @ brandywine Best Wewstern / wilmington DE »

hotel is comfortable, & easy to access from major routes in the area & from I-95 /// guest rooms are positioned in a square around the central courtyard where the pool is located - a very nice design // patio tables & chairs around pool add a welcoming touch // front desk staff is professional & efficient

    « Weekend getaway »

First, we arrive to check in; the parking is very limited for larger vehicles. The night clerk pulls up my reservation then swipe my card several times. He answers the phone while helping me then swiped my card again. Then I told him I already paid online...his response was "Oh ok, I see it now" The bank deactivated my card, so I was with no access to a bank or money. Replacement card coming..... The room itself was clean, neat, no odors.... The walls are very thin! Adult activities and party noise above and beside me.

« Lovely stay for hotels in this caliber. »

Excellent, clean Hotel staff provided excellent assistance taking care of any concerns. Friendly Accommodating. Great service for hotel in this caliber. Only problem was size of bathroom. Everything else was as promised. No surprises. All amenities were as promised. Breakfast was served quite nicely and offers variety of foods.

    « Clean and Reasonable »

The hotel is aged but clean. The price is right for the area. We had a first floor pool view room. Bathroom was small. Breakfast area/lobby was very new looking and clean. The front desk associate Nikki when we checked in was extremely helpful and that was one of the main reasons we stayed. Breakfast was good and Paula the breakfast lady was very friendly and took care of us. The only problem we had was that on check out I agreed to an e mail receipt instead of paper and did not receive it. I had to call the main customer service to expedite it and take care of it. 24 hours later I did get the receipt.

    « I would stay here again »

Outstanding, Staff, the people that we met were very friendly and went out of their way to help us, recommended a good restaurant, nearby. Phillis one of the night clerks was a great help, helping us get enrolled in the rewards program.

    « Clean and comfortable »

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Rooms could use some updates. Breakfast was good; nothing too spectacular, but everything was fresh and hot. Front desk girl on Sunday night (June 26)was extremely helpful. Two thumbs up for her.Would most likely stay there again.

    « Check on Noise of A/C »

Overall, a nice stay. The air conditioning needs to be addressed with a new unit. Noise is excessive. I turned off the A/C at night and opened the window for fresh air. OK for June, but would not work in July or August due to warmer weather.

    « Comfortable, Convenient »

Great place to stay... would recommend! Staff responsive and helpful! Accommodations were comfortable and spacious. Good location to all areas of the City and major highway access. Breakfast service, bonus, with good selection of breakfast items.

    « Not Recommend »

I did not feel safe here as a single woman. Hotel is run down - no elevator. Need to struggle with luggage if not on 1st floor. I was afraid to walk on carpet or floor without socks. On the other hand, the staff was very nice. I didn't complain as there was nothing the staff could do about the quality of the hotel.

« extremely helpful with checkin »

courteous helpful staff, nice comfortable room, good location, great hot breakfast! I was forced to find a nice place close to the children's hospital with no notice, I was happy to have found this hotel. nice restaurant next door for dinner

    « A nice place to stay »

My family & I stayed for two nights in mid-May while waiting to move into our home. Everyone was nice & helpful. Typical cont. breakfast, but it was clean & easy to get about. Only complaint is that they were doing cleaning of the pool & didn't put a sign out so as soon as my children jumped in they had to get out.

« excellent stay @ brandywine vallley best western inn ! »

I had a very comfortable & excellent stay @ this best western. staff was both friendly & very professional. lobby was lovely . . . & the pool courtyard was nicely designed & inviting /// also >> the location is very convenient to the surrounding area . & having both an Acme ( supermarket ) & Walgreens next door is very handy for picking up anything needed !

    « hotel for business »

Good location and all staff is friendly, but They must make improvements in internet connection, at least in the rooms on the ground floor. They offers complimentary afternoon tea is a good idea. Thanks

    « Cozy Nest »

Room was very small and furnishings outdated as well as too large for the room. One large 4 poster bed and a very small room. Wallpaper very gaudy. Front desk staff members were very helpful with directions. This hotel is being rated with a 3 star due to closeness of racetrack/casino and other sites. If looking for a reasonably priced hotel with no frills this is the one for you.

    « hotel »

the stay was okay, ants in the bed which made me leave early. The receptionist gave me money back that but i didnt sleep good. The room was clean was clean beside that issue and they allowed me to check in early.

« Pleasant four night stay »

This location was close to our friends whom we were visiting and an easy drive to the freeway. The desk staff was very helpful and pleasant. The beds are comfortable with multiple pillows. The bathroom layout was a little cramped but we worked around it. As we wanted more for than the small breakfast offered, we were happy to go to a restaurant directly next to the hotel which fillled the bill. There is also a grocery within in easy walking distance and a fridge provided in the guest room.

« It's Amazing and fit in my Budget »

it was amazing experience in Western Valley hotel. it is the best hotel. My 3 friends and 1 stay here for 2 nights we book 2 rooms and they are so clean and shinny. They offer free delicious breakfast. We really enjoy over there. Staff was so nice and helpul. We feel very comfortable in the hotel and the most amazing thing this hotel fits in my budget so i like it so much i love it i highly recommended this hotel

    « Brandywine Package »

Great value - especially with the 2nd night free promotion; tickets for the Brandywine River Museum and Winterthur were as advertised. Great hotel staff - friendly and accommodating. Hotel is neat - la well-kept vintage 60's (?) venue. Rooms were very clean.

« Not our favorite place »

My husband and I were traveling from Fl. back to Boston with our 2 dogs. The lobby of this building is quite nice, but the rooms do not measure up in comparison. It is a pet friendly motel, but there is barely a blade of grass on which to walk your dogs. We usually pay less for a motel of the same quality, but after our second 10 hour day of driving we decided to splurge a bit, in hopes of finding a nicer accommodation. We were wrong.

« Great hotel and great staff »

I find this hotel is unique with its staff and service. I would do recommend it for anyone going or driving near the Concord Pike. Great hotel to spend some time there. The restaurant has very nice breakfast. And the rooms is just what i needed for a good time sleep.

« Wonderful restaurant on site is the bonus. »

I stayed overnight here (solo woman traveler) as a stopever between Tidewater Virginia and the New York State Finger Lakes. The location is also convenient to downtown Philadelphai and Wilimington. This is basically a motel with perfectly comfortable and well kept rooms and baths. But the office and breakfast are in a bright sunny atrium-like space overlooking the courtyard pool. The front desk staff are friendly and glad to offer directions and advice, the breakfast has good hot items, and there are fresh-baked cookies in the afternoons. The pool is very nice, protected from the sight and noise of the highway. But the biggest plus of this hotel is the fabulous restaurant, the Hollywood Diner, located on the property. Drop off your bags, splash a little water on your face, and in a few dozen steps you're there. Warm professonal service and one of those we-serve-everything menus-- and it's all good. I stayed here twice in 2015, in June and again in mid-August, and would gladly choose it again.

« Still waiting for wake up call »

Be sure to bring a clock They don't call when requested The next time I will be sure to request several wake up orders. Otherwise staff was really good. I would consider this property only if it was a great deal or others were booked up.

    « Nicest Staff Ever »

This was our third stay at this Best Western, and I just want to say the staff here is absolutely fantastic. The girl who checked us in is of the friendliest people I've ever met. I can't say enough nice things about her. This hotel has a few different French Countryside themed rooms, and we like to stay in those. They're pretty small, but they have fancy wallpaper and big four poster beds and other nice furniture. They've got a nice aesthetic. As for amenities, they have an interesting selection of DVDs for rent at the front desk. It's an entertaining selection, not too many and not too few. Some great movies and some movies that are so terrible they're amazing. There's also a diner next door to the hotel that's pretty great. It's easy to pop over for a bite. Breakfast is better than you'd expect for a Best Western, but still fairly limited in selection.

    « Very customer oriented »

Very friendly and clean. Love the clean and fresh breakfast they offer. It is centrally located for a lot of food and shopping. I enjoy the coffee and tea available all day and is always fresh. The pool looks great, even though I didn't use it.

    « Grrat room »

The room we had was so big and clean, we had a great view of the space, the staff was friendly and breakfast was so delicious for the price it was so affordable. I love this place that i told my friend to let us stay 2 days more. Thank you the management of this hotel. We will visit again.

« This hotel is terrible »

This hotel needs to be closed and completely renovated. I felt like I was staying in a roach motel. although I only saw 1 bug- it felt dirty, and made my skin crawl. It was like the Best Western bought a 1970's roach motel, threw some paint on the walls and slapped their name on it. DO NOT goto this hotel. It was more of a MOTEL- you dirve up to your door. The carpet, bathrooms and overall cleanliness of this place it a disgrace- I will look at ALL best western properties much more closely in the future before booking.

WHERE do I start. Well we paid for a HOTEL but got a Motel. Really. NO elevator, must get dressed to go the vending machine. Novembet is not warm. Get to room, Second level, by foot. They put us in aroom, we the numbers in French 224.DEUX VINGT QUATRE. Nice touch. Open the lights and the light next to the bed is BURNT. OK. Open the T.V. we looked in the book and no schedule. We knew that, when I called the front desk and they told me to look in the book. They eventually brought one up. I Went to the toilet to have a pee, and lifted the seat. The toilet seat seemed weak. When my wife went to the toilet around 8 p.m. she got up from the seat and seat was in her hand We started laughing. But at that hour it was too late for maintenance. The next morning my wife asked the manager, if the drinking water was ok, she need told my ''I have been drinking this water for 30 years, I don't have 2 heads''. Next morning called up to see what time breakfast was ready. The man said , it is ready. That was at 6:15 a.m. We arrived a bit after 6:30. We see O.J. Bread, bagels. No eggs. No bananas. So shortly after having O.J.. Food man, told me there is no Bananas today. The eggs will be ready around 7:30. We left at 8:00 a.m. NO EGGS, NO BANANAS, We did drink the water even though the manager has 1 head, if any.

    « Very disappointing »

Having had a couple of nice stays at this Best Western before, I am sad to say that my most recent stay was a big disappointment. In fairness, let me start with some good features. We booked a bed with kind-size bed at a fair price, and it was ready on time. And, the lobby was very nicely furnished. The motel offers free wi-fi access and a lot of rack card info on places to see and things to do in the areas. The staff is very friendly. Again upon this visit as with our previous stay, we noticed a sign indicating that the motel is being remodeled. But, we saw no indications of remodeling in process. Relying upon past experience, we mistakenly didn't think it necessary to inspect the room before accepting it. But, there were a number of little things that told us that we're not likely to return to this Best Western. Here's what we experienced: (1) upon arrival, the door key-card would not unlock the door. We had to try it about 6 times before the green signal light came on. (That happened every time we left and returned to re-open the room door). (2) Once in the room, my wife checked out the bathroom and found the previous tenants' used towel still hanging on the back of the door. ..... Not the way to give a good first impression to the Mrs ! It gave her an unsavory opinion of the place before we even settled in. (3) The evening was rather cold, and we spent it at a local concert. Before we left the room, we noticed that the staff had turned on the room heater and had set it to maintain a 67F temperature. Still, we asked the staff for an extra blanket. Lucky that we did, because when we returned several hours later in the evening, we found that the heater was still running --- nearly continuously. Exhausted, we thought we might be able to fall asleep to the continual drone of the motor and fan. But, no..... It switched on for 3 minutes, then off for 3 minutes, 3 minutes on, 3 minutes off, etc. (Yes, I timed it). Eventually, I had to turn the unit off entirely. We didn't freeze, but the slight draft coming from beneath the room door left us with an uncomfortable night. (4) Before we retired for the night, we turned on the TV to watch the news. The TV's remote didn't work, although it had been nicely packaged in a cloth bag with an assurance that it was in working condition. There were no directions with the remote or anywhere in the room. So, I brought the remote to the front desk for help. The attendant called a mechanic who nicely came to our room. Upon seeing the remote, he seemed rather surprised. It was a small green plastic unit that might be more fitting for a child's game set than for a rather new TV. He found that it would only default to and reset the TV's designated channel setting. So, he exchanged it for a new remote. The new one was able to change channels, but not the volume or the On-Off power. (5) For the price paid for the room, we found the bathroom entirely disappointing. It measured 4 1/2 feet by 6 1/2 feet, housing a toilet and a shower/tub. Once in that room, a person must sidestep the toilet in order to close the door. The exhaust fan started with the chattering vibration of the fan's metal vent cover. The shower started with what can only be described as the sound one might hear if you give a Bronx cheer through a trombone mouthpiece. Flushing the toilet sometimes left the fill-water running. I found that the flapper sometimes did not seat properly and the overfill tube was not properly secured inside the water tank. (6) The vanity counter and sink are located outside of the bathroom. well lighted, but cluttered with a coffee maker, plastic cups, complimentary toiletry items. (7) The complimentary breakfast was a nice offering, for which we were grateful. But, rather than scrambled eggs from a powder mix, plastci utensils and paper plates, I guess we would have preferred a voucher for a small discount at the diner on the adjoining property. All told, we have decided that we must search for somewhere else to stay when passing though this area.

    « Great facilities...wonderful staff »

When our family was in DE for a surprise birthday celebration, about a dozen of us stayed at the Best Western. I expected a clean room...and it was. I expected a good continental breakfast...and it was. What I did not expect was the good natured friendliness of the morning staff. Mary took such good care of us while we monopolized most of the breakfast area, that I actually invited her to the party!

    « Comfortable & Friendly! »

Always a pleasant stay! WiFi did not work well at all this time but otherwise no complaints. Initially we were given a very small room with no refrigerator and when we questioned this we were immediately offered a similar but slightly larger room WITH a fridge...very nice! We always stay here when we visit our family in Wilmington!

« Good with exception of Internet availability »

With the exception of Internet service, the stay was comfortable and pleasant. I'm a business person and there was not a secure Internet connection, which most corporate laptop connection require in order to connect to the Internet. Only open unsecured Internet was available... but only when it was available to connect. Most of the time it was weak (very, very slow) or not available. This was my only frustration with my stay since this is a very important business need.

« Nobody puts baby wifi in a corner »

The wifi signal vacillates so much my laptop won't connect - even in the hotel lobby. I've spent about an hour working with the hotel's tech support - Active Telephone Inc who seem to be useless - and the manager on duty who hasn't been contacted by their tech support - and they can't do anything. Was told the only guess with the wifi issues could be that because the hotel was full there likely were too many people on the wifi at the same time. I've been trying to connect since 3:40 pm and it's now 9:50 pm. Hotel wasn't full if people connecting at 3:40 pm... I'm sure I won't be getting any refund for my troubles as I was told I am the only one with an issue. I'm sitting in lobby writing this and have 2 bars signal strength. Don't stay in room 230 if you want a strong wifi signal and don't count on wifi here if you need it for work like I do.

    « Not the best »

My husband and I found a good rate to stay at this location. Unfortunately, not a good place to stay. They look like add-on rooms; ugly decor, small, the tissue holder on the wall in the bathroom was falling apart. The air or heat made a horrible noise. Let's talk about breakfast lets just say, not great. The pancake machine was broken one day and they run out if eggs, it look about 20 to have another batch of scramble eggs ready. Before I forget, the toilet over flowed and instead of sending somebody to fix it, we had to go and get the plunger. The only good thing, the ladies at the front desk were very friendly.

« Terrible night in Brandywine »

During a recent stay, we were kept awake by revelers for a game. Constant knocking on door throughout the night, yelling, screaming, slamming doors. I called the front desk and was told the everyone was gone for the evening. I didn't want the manager to expose herself to danger. My next call would have been to the Police. This was the worst stay in this hotel or any hotel I've ever had. No security, no staff and no options. I would never stay here again!

    « Good Deal »

Personal service, good free breakfast, nice hot tub, good location can walk to grocery store, friendly staff, easy parking, right on main road to anywhere you need to go, cost is a good deal and staff works with you on rates for AARP AAA etc.

    « Highly recommend »

Excellent location (diner, supermarket, shopping center right next to the corner), great neighborhood for jogging, friendly staff and quiet and comfortable room with coffee machine...Overall it was a nice and pleasant stay. Anybody traveling the area should be intererested in this hotel.

« experience at bw brandywine »

I love the best western brandywine . I have recommended this hotel to many of my family and associates. this is always my first choice when I go on business trips and just to relax. the staff are very pleasant and welcoming. they greet in a very professional and kind manner. thankyou

« the well located hotel with ammenities »

Everyone from check in to check out was pleasant and helpful. The hotel is easily accessed for a stop on the way to take the Auto Train to FL or just to go to Washington DC as it is very near I 95. The breakfast is good, there is a restaurant next door if you get there in time for dinner, and if you get there early on a warm day there is a beautiful pool. Unfortunately, the room we were in had a thread bare carpet which deterred from the appearance.

It was an average Hotel. The night manager was miserable the day manager was nice. The shower head did not work well in the room. Didnt report the shower head and worked around it. didnt want to deal with maintenance coming in.

« could not have been more pleased with staff »

Convenient for my work - great employees and excellent service - presently undergoing some renovations but was not a bother - pool was still open which was a plus along with outdoor heated jacuzzi - did not use Fitness Center but it looked inviting
