The King room was exceptionally clean and larger than other hotel rooms. Lots of hot water. Comfortable bed. It was a nice surprise in Wakeeney. The cost was $$ less than the Best Western in S.D. along interstate 90. I would stay here again if I was traveling though.
This place is right off I-70. Friendly staff and fast check-in. I had a king room, and it was spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. Pool and hot tub were very nice. Breakfast was good. There were other restaurants nearby too. Cute little town.
Overall, clean rooms in a highway hotel with comfy beds. The breakfast was somewhat better than a strictly continental because of a few hot items. The staff was friendly. The water pressure is good in the shower. A/C could probably use a new filter. Overall, a good spot for an overnight while traveling.
My boss and I were on a business trip and stopped at this property on our way as a halfway point. The property was going through a management change, thank god! They obviously desperately needed a new manager. Immediately they started getting the overgrown landscaping taken care of. It's nice to see people who actually care about their job and their customers and see them taking the actions to make their workplace better!
This Best Western is a great hotel! Front desk was very nice and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. No complaints!!
The front receptionist was very rude. Does not like children. I would not stay here again. Not very accommodating. I was here during an extremely stressful situation and they made everything more stressful. The staff should be trained in common courtesy.
We booked the room about 6 hours prior to arrival and the price couldn't be beat. The staff and entire property were above our expectations. Arriving late (11pm) with children we get safe and comfortable walking into the lobby!
Hotel is dated but very clean. Beds were comfortable & breakfast was good, just the essentials. Fitness center was small but adequate for just wanting to walk. Hotel was full but quiet & didn't hear anyone else. Bathroom was clean & had big towels. Overall, nice hotel
We've always found this particular hotel/motel clean and welcoming. It's easy to find from I-70. Try to get a room on the back of the hotel, as the interstate can be pretty noisy, although the noise conditioning seems to be pretty good.
This Best Western is conveniently located, had clean and well maintained rooms, reasonably priced, good breakfast options.
Great Best Western breakfast, the normal plus a few extra waffle toppings. Pool/hot tub was closed during our visit. Front desk person was helpful and kept us up to date on the pool status after hearing the kids mention swimming. Hotel was clean and surprisingly quiet at typical bedtime hours. We were not bird hunting, but the hotel appears to accommodate those who are. Within walking distance to a dog park, and fighter jet display. Access to/from the interstate was a breeze.
We've made so many trips along this route through the years but thought Wakeeney was too small for much in the way of lodging. So wrong. A clean, well maintained, reasonably priced hotel. Some designated pet friendly rooms (call ahead) and friendly, helpful personnel. Breakfast was typical for this type of hotel but had a full variety of options with the hot choices being truly hot and tasty. Can't tell you about restaurants—arrived late and had already eaten along the way. Can say that we'll be using this hotel again. Great stop.
we checked out other places that were cheaper but they were not appealing looking and no breakfast so we opted to pay a little more and it was definitely worth the price. staff was friendly room was clean good beds to help you relax and the breakfast was excellent
Room was very spacious and comfortable. As with many hotels, it could use a little more lighting -- like a center fixture. Bed was comfortable height -- not so high you had to climb into it! The extra tables in the suite area were convenient. Couch was comfortable and not sagging. I wish hotels would not put doors on the closet space. They are just in the way.
Had reservations. Got there and a surly old woman was at the desk. Informed us the elevator was broken and we were on the 3rd floor. My wife is handicapped and can't do stairs. We had a handicapped room reserved but would ha e taken a first floor regular room. She didn't even try to switch us. Just stated the hotel was full. So much for being a gold member. We canceled. Drove another 2 hours to the Best Western in Burlingto Colorado. Wonderful experience there. STAY away from Wakeeney Best Western.
Wakeeney is in the middle of nowhere but the Best Western is a gem. The staff is friendly, the facility was clean and breakfast had good choices. We didn't feel rushed at any time. The gym was in good shape with variety of machines. We had a really good night sleep, too! There are a couple of lunch/dinner restaurants to eat in town.
Go somewhere else! Room smelled like cigarette smoke, elevators didn't work, ice machine didn't work on 1st floor, breakfast was only until 9:00 even on weekends. They had food sitting out there but wouldn't let any one eat it a few minutes after 9:00 because they said it was for a family reunion. However, when we left, still now family reunion people, but all of the staff was over there fixing their plates.
Beds were really comfy, breakfast was as expected, friendly staff. Convenient to the interstate. We had stayed here before and will likely be back again. The only drawback was that the pool was not easily accessible for one of my friends who has difficulty with stairs (had to go down stairs to get to the pool level).
Great stay! People nice. Food great. Ample parking. Safe location. Taco Bell, Wendy's, Gas Station food, Mexican walking distance to all 2-minutes less than 1 tenth mile The television was great-all if my favorite stations.
A nice, modern hotel that had clean rooms, soft beds and experienced staff that made check-in and check-out simple and easy. Served a good, free breakfast in the morning that had a variety of both hot and cold items. It was right on I-70, so accessibility for travelers is simple. I travel for work throughout the State of Kansas and I would certainly stay at this hotel again.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable and pillows were better then the average hotel pillows! We stayed as a group (4 rooms); we were in town for a funeral and this location was convenient for our location needs in the rural area.
The staff at this hotel were very friendly and accommodating making sure all was to your liking. The hotel is non smoking and clean. Food was served at appropriate temperatures and was good as well as they had a great selection!
Conveniently located but that was the only thing that stood out about this property. Room and furnishings were outdated and dirty. Hotel smelled of burnt food. Staff was pleasant but hotel needs an update. Did not try the breakfast.
Enjoyed my stay. I felt clean and comfortable enough to walk barefoot in my room. Not a spot of mold or bug anywhere. No musty smell. No humidity. The breakfast was like home cooked food. Although my stay was 284 dollars a night, having my grandmother staying with me helped, I received a discount to 208 a night.
The hotel is located on i 70,very convenient location and a very beautiful hotel and lobby. Breakfast was very good too. The room was clean and comfortable. Pool was hot and spa was nice and hot and fitness center was nice and clean.
clean motel, easy access, great staff. amenities were well maintained and cared for. best motel to stay at in this town. staff very friendly and helpful when we needed different things though our stay make it more comfortable
We stayed at the Best western in WaKeeney Kansas traveling from Green River Utah to Tennessee, the Hotel was great, clean room, bathroom was very clean the sheets and bedding were clean, we had all towels wash cloths that we needed, coffee pot in the room with coffee, the staff was very helpful and friendly, I would defiantly stay here again.
When I made the reservation Bailey, Barb and, Gwen where very helpful and pleasant to talk to. Stay in touch thru e-mail. When we arrived greeted with a pleasant person(did not get name). Very welcoming. The young Lady was very kind. We even visited with maintenance man. the hotel is not new, but well maintained clean and in good working order. The rooms were spacious well stocked and clean. The a/c worked well. Very comfortable rooms. Used the hot tub after long drive to relax. It was great. The breakfast was so good. Hot and plentiful choices. Well stocked.
We have stayed here in the past and will continue to do so as we travel cross country. The people are provide excellent service. Breakfast was great. Usually have problems sleeping due to the mattress but not these beds! I only have one complaint: The employees smoke just outside the main entrance and guests have to walk thru the smoke to enter/exit.
Hotel room was very clean, bed was comfortable. Pull out couch was pretty awful, but our kids are small and didn't mind. Pool area was nice, hot tub was great. Breakfast was typical continental/mediocre, but convenient. Would stay again.
Nice hotel, good clean rooms lots of space in the king suites. The pull out sofa is terribly uncomfortable but the king bed was not. Breakfast was good, hot and cold items. Front desk staff was nice and helpful
The staff here are amazing, friendly and welcoming. Loved this hotel and everything about it. Wlll stay at this hotel again for sure. Beds are very comfortable and hotel is very clean as well. Breakfast is also good.
We were on a family trip, on our way home, and stayed in three rooms. Very nice hotel, nice staff, clean, and good breakfast! We will definitely stay in this hotel again if we're out this way. Plus it was a good value!
Excellant property, and even a dog park across from hotel! That was a bonus for my pups that have been traveling with me across the country. Only complaint would be poor quality coffee in the morning for breakfast. Breakfast food was excellant, just change from that Farmers Brothers coffee.
HVAC in room was not working right. If fan was set to ON it would run but was not cooling room. Fan would not turn on with Auto Setting, not matter what was temperaure set on wall themostat. It took a while for us to notice room wasn't cooling so it was too late to try to get it fixed. Room went up to 76 overnight.. Breakfast area had tip jar. Waffle mix wasn't prepared right so waffles were crumbly and tasted off. Coffee was bitter and eggs were tasteless. English muffin was hard. Highway side room was noisy. Pool & hot tub looked nice, but we arrived too late to use.
I was so happy to find a Best Western after 9 pm on a Wednesday. The staff were , helpful, finding a room on the ground floor for my disabled husband, near a door. The motel was clean,as was the room the parking well lit. Breakfast was ready and waiting with a wide variety of offerings at 6am. This Best Western Plus was in the middle of Kansas at the intersection of I70 and Hwy 283.
This was our last night of a 7 week vacation and were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. We checked in and were upgraded to a king suite with gave us room to stretch out and relax after a long day of driving. Front desk ladies were very friendly and helpful guiding us to a good place for dinner and the room was very clean and comfortable. Hot breakfast the following morning had everything I needed. Would stay again if in the area.
Heading from Western Colorado, this was a nice stop before hitting a bigger town. Pulling off the highway, there is a gas station with Sandwich Shop. That made it easy to gas right up for the next morning and get a sandwich for the evening meal. There is a pool which came in handy. The staff were friendly and attentive. The property was quiet. Breakfast had lots of options including eggs, potatoes, sausage and biscuits and gravy. All in all I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it.
Rooms were nicely decorated and practical. Had a refrigerator and microwave, good options to store luggage and clothing (drawers and closets), nice and clean bathroom. Our room was away from the highway and very quiet. Good restaurants nearby. Great value for the money.
I enjoyed my stay, it has a good location right off the highway. Newer hotel with a hot breakfast that was ready to go early! I would stay again if I was in the area! Did not use the pool, but it looked nice!
The hotel is very clean and calm. The nice Mexican restaurant with a lot of dinner options across the road. The great hot breakfast with a lot of selections. The room was comfortable and fresh. The staff is very helpful. I am staying here in my next trips.
Probably the best value for a room ever! Very nice updated room, plenty of space, comfortable bed, and very helpful & courteous staff. Wish all hotel stays were this nice and reasonably priced. Will definitely seek out Best Western Plus in the future.
Needed a room for the night before continuing our drive to Colorado. The hotel staff was on a smoke break when we tried to check in, so we had to wait until they were finished. Room was ok but very overpriced for the area.
To start off the day with a wonderful breakfast. We went to the parade and visited with my class mates. Came back to the motel, and relaxed on the comfortable beds and nice cool rooms. It was a wonderful time and we will be staying here again on my next reunion in 5 years.
Terrible! Arrived to a line of people trying to get checked in. Two people were running the process and could not get things figured out. Said computers were having trouble. Finally got checked in and went to room. Opened door to slept in beds, food on dresser, and dirty towels all over bathroom floor. We went back down and told the people in charge. One came up with another room and said they're short staffed but then said, “Let us know if that one's dirty too!” What??? The guy said he'd see if they could do anything for us for our trouble. Nope. Apparently not because nobody seemed to know anything about it the next day. Ugh. Nothing around there to do or eat. Go to the next town!!
The place was clean and comfortable, and a snap to get to, being right off the highway exit ramp. But most importantly, the front desk staff kindly accommodated an unusual request of mine, which I very much appreciated.
Hotel was clean and allowed my 2 dogs! Breakfast was one of the best hot ones. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Common areas were clean. Very good place for overnight stay essentially in the middle of nowhere.
Pleasant staff, cheerful and knowledgeable. Clean room, comfortable bed. Breakfast included there was a nice selection to choose from. Easy access to Interstate 70, with well lit parking lot. Seems like a nice area. Gas stations and convenient stores near by.
Friendly staff and clean hotel, room was clean and breakfast was good too, not many hotels right now serving breakfast, this hotel had nice hot breakfast. And check in and check out was really quick and Pool was nice and hot.
We needed a place to stop for the night and that was about all that this was. It was a nice enough place. We did see some snack debris on the floor between a table and the bed. The breakfast was the bright spot of the stay. Be sure to stay for the breakfast. It will get you ready for a bunch of time on the road.
When we arrived at the hotel, the general manager and 3-4 guests were standing directly outside the main lobby doors smoking cigarettes and drinking beer. My wife and I are highly sensitive to tobacco smoke. When we checked out the next morning, the manager and guests were in the same spot smoking cigarettes. The smell of smoke wafted into the lobby. Upon check-in and check-out, there was no way to avoid the smoke. When I used the stairwell to get to the third floor, the door knob to the third floor door pulled off in my hands. There was trash in the garbage can when we checked into the room. Clearly not thoroughly cleaned. When I asked the manager about the smoking issue, she said it was the fault of "corporate" and the owner for putting the smoking area right by the front lobby doors. I called customer service and was told that I'd receive feedback within 2-3 business days. That was 6 business days ago. I called the corporate office and got nowhere.
This place is comfortable. The bed was good. The air conditioning was very cold. We loved that! It was clean although old-ish. The people who work there are great. The breakfast was better than most. The only complaint we have is that the whole hotel smells like an old and stale house. It was very off putting. We might stay there again for one night but more than that we wouldn't be comfortable.
Problems began at check in. I had my reservation pulled up on my phone for 2 rooms for 2 nights. I was booked at check in for 3 rooms. Instead of just deleting a room (which I had clearly not booked) I was charged for 3 rooms and now have to wait until the 3rd room is credited from my checking account. Rooms were not cleaned at all during my stay. Trash was not emptied, fresh towels were not replenished. Pillows were lopsided and lumpy. Will not come back here.
There for a wedding with other family members from also out of town. The Best Western Motel was great. The staff was very polite and friendly. Check out was easy. Would definitely recommend this motel to eveyone.
Checked in close to 10:30pm. Tired, wanted a snack before bed. Vending machine totally empty. Same with soda machines. Eat B4 u get there. Reported problem, clerk was more interested in telling me about the bed he bought because him & his daughter had been sleeping on the floor since their house burned down.
Absolutely loved this favor! Super comfortable bed, large snd very clean room Highly recommend The only negative-is NOT the hotel- But there isn't much near the hotel So, eat somewhere else before you check in There is a Subway, and a gas station! But the hotel is just great!
Clean, comfortable Best Western hotel with elegant rooms and comfortable beds was our pleasure to enjoy. Hot breakfast served, very clean and maintained property, we highly recommend this place for a stay.
Beds are comfy enough, nice linens and fluffy towels. Nice staff. However no one wears masks except at breakfast time as they serve you. Receptionists, cleaning staff, etc throughout the day do not wear any masks. I've noticed most of Kansas has refused masks but this is a hotel that is supposed to be better than the dollar general! 3 stars since the staff seemed really nice and fluffy towels. Also the TV remote had no back to it and it was stuck on one tv channel. Has other apps but the remote didn't work enough to change it.
I booked this place for the hot breakfast and hot tub. I was given a nasty "grab and go" breakfast and the hot tub was broken. Only the freezer worked in the refrigerator, so we had either frozen drinks or warm drinks. The sheets were so old, they were ripped.
Rooms were filthy, dirty walls, clogged tub, stains on the shower curtain. Beds looked like they were made by 3 year old. Very disappointed in this stay. This was the kind of room I'd expect for $50 a night, not $120. I stay in a lot of hotels every year, this one was most disappointing.
We have stayed at this hotel every year for the last 7 on our way back from Colorado, and have always been impressed. Barbara (I think) at the front desk is always pleasant, precise and a joy to work with. But this stay the room was lacking. It only had a quarter of a roll of toilet paper and 3 kleenex (glad I had some of my own!). Also only had 1 packet of coffee. Wasn't filthy but also not up to the usual standards.
This hotel has great easy access off the interstate. The hotel is older, needs updates and cleaning. Staff did not wear masks during check in nor did people in lobby area despite the signs. The rooms need a good cleaning and updating. Staff was very friendly though and are working with what they have.
Upon arrival this hotel looks fine and online reviews suggest this used to be a nice hotel. However, they have either lost all their housekeeping staff or their standards have declined. First room we were assigned, it looked like the bed had been slept in. We were moved immediately to another room but it looked the same. After settling in, we discovered enough to wish we had found another hotel: hair all over bedding, mysterious brown smears/smudges on sheets and bathroom floor, dirty towels, dead bugs everywhere, and it looked like the surfaces in sleeping area and bathroom had not been cleaned. Best Western should do a surprise check-up on this hotel because this place does not live up to their standards. Poor management, no cleaning staff???? Who knows but with concerns over cleanliness during COVID-19 restrictions, Best Western should be very concerned with this hotel's lack of care.
Stayed over one nite but did appreciate our third floor room. Young man at the front desk was very nice and provided us restaurant recommendations to Jake and Chet's diner. Very good plus home made pies. Room was modern, clean, quiet, and most guests wore masks. Breakfast was a grab and go in brown paper bags but had choice of child, adult, or healthy. Child had cereal and milk and I think fruit. Adults had muffin (440 calories!) and granola bar and fruit. Also, coffee either in room or in bkft area. Healthy choice had oatmeal packet to add hot water from room and cook in microwave plus fruit. No eating in dining room area. It worked out fine. Used AAA rate and was cheaper than BWP in Hays, KS by $30! Interesting little town but only saw a few people on a Friday nite. We will stay here again when heading to Colorado. Hotel is right off I-70.
Mold was so bad in our first room that you could smell it as you walked in. We found moldy shower curtain, moldy walls, and mold all over the back of the non-slip mat. We also realized that the bath mat was damp, one of the towels seemed as though it had been used, and the toiletries were definitely used. There was a single tissue in the box, way down at the bottom. It seemed as though the bathroom had not really been cleaned since the last guest, just straightened up a little. Especially surprising right now with all the extra cleaning the hotel is supposedly using with COVID going on. We packed up and let the front desk know and they promptly moved us to a new room. Unfortunately, we were so tired from driving all day and still had three days drive ahead of us, that we didn't notice the moldy shower curtain there. The next morning we decided not to take showers and simply leave the hotel. The beds were clean and comfortable, but how does a hotel bathroom even get this moldy if it's being cleaned after each guest?
Stayed at this hotel based on good reviews. Unfortunately, didn't live up to expectations. Took shower and ended up standing in ankle-deep water. Water still in tub 15 minutes after shower. Advised young man at front desk who made a note. BTW he wasn't wearing a mask but he was behind a plexiglass window (open at top). I guess that's good enough. There were many guests wandering around unmasked. And don't you love it when hotels let guests smoke right outside main entrance. Better to pass on this BW.
This hotel was by far the worst we stayed in as we traveled to and from Missouri to Colorado. All were similarly priced. We checked in late around 11pm and we were too exhausted to notice everything or leave. There were beetles all over the room. I removed at least 10, some dead and some alive including the 2 on my bed. Kids were freaked out. The beds were ok. Pillows small and blankets and sheets dated. In morning discovered bathroom tub mat was covered in mold. Shower curtain had stains. Toilet was moldy all around the ring. If you can go somewhere else you should.
Drive past this place, AC was loud and woke me up several times, shower had dark spots several places looked like mold, a towel was clearly dirty and after talking to the manager no consideration offered... except please try us again.
We were in town for a softball tournament and wanted to stay together as a team. We were offered a room block which was great and were given rooms close together when requested. The front desk staff were welcoming and helpful, providing extra linens, toiletries and breakfast items as needed. The owner was in the lobby on a regular basis and made us feel welcome. This above and beyond personal interaction is wonderful!
This was a beautiful hotel. It was super clean, new decor, comfortable king bed and lovely pool and hot tub. No hot breakfast due to virus but a nice boxed breakfast with fruit, muffin, bottle water and breakfast bar. I highly recommend staying here and we will every time we travel to Denver.
The pet friendly room not only smelled terrible but it was filthy. Dust, hair and lots of bugs and spiders both dead and alive. Our AC didn't work. Because we were too tired to move they did give us a fan and open the window. The staff was nice.
Just stopped for the night during a cross-country move. We were disappointed to not see staff wearing masks during our stay, including when they were not behind plexiglass at the desk. Two unmasked staff members got into the elevator with us as we went down to the lobby, which seemed unresponsible. Otherwise the place seemed clean, and the to-go breakfast options were appreciated.
Pictures say it all! A few new things doesn't make up for mold and hard water stains. 99 bucks and I didn't get in that shower! Yuck.!very disappointing. When I pulled the bedspread back it had a persons indent on the fitted sheet.
The toilet was unflushed, the room smelled like smoke, the TV was on, there was toothpaste on the sink and used lotion and soap. Disgusting. Clearly they are not concerned with safety measures considering COVID 19.
Considering this is a small town, miles from nowhere, with few options for lodging and food, you will do just fine here. Check in and check out was friendly and personal, which was nice. Room was good sized and bathroom was simple but spacious. WiFi and satellite worked well. Actually has a couple options for bagged breakfast and had coffee in the lobby so overall we were pleased.
personal were good. checkout was a little weird. general atmosphere is good. A wake up call for breakfast would be nice. nice place nice hotel breakfast needs to be longer hours and better food. not bad
Poor service, rude, bathtub had hair in it and the tub smelled.like mildew really bad. I wont come back here for sure. I can stay at Motel 6 for cheaper and equivalent if not better cleanliness. And I dont get yelled at from the employees before I even walk in the door! No bueno!
My daughter and I spent one night here while on our way to Colorado. I made the reservation from the car so check in was quick. Our room was clean, bed and bedding was comfortable. There is a pool and hot tub, which was a very clean area. The breakfast was good. I think Best Western's breakfasts are a step above the other hotel chains.
This ia single story property. Also, older, completely updated quaint and exceptionally maintained. It had snowed the night before and the staff was shoveling the drive and walkways at the crack of dawn! It has a very tastefully decorated lobby, with eclectic history of the area and art! The upgraded dining room was phenomenally decored with ceramic tile floors and the best breakfast choices and most complete breakfast bar I have ever had the pleasure to experience in all my years of travel.
We made our reservation on the road before arriving in Wakeeney. The Front Desk clerk was very accommodating and helpful in securing us the reservation. The room was a King Room, and we were disappointed in several things. First, the facility is very close to I-70 and it faced I-70 so it was very loud. The current owners can't do much about that as this issue goes back to the design. It should have been place so that it was perpendicular to I-70 which would cut the noise in half. Secondly and more importantly, the room was not clean - visible dust accumulated on lamp shades and the head of the bed; hair on bathroom floor, sink, counter and tub; very unappealing and old bath mat which was very dirty; filthy hair dryer; the bathroom mirror was not clean with soap and water stains as was the sink faucet; the toilet was not cleaned; it appeared that the tub was not cleaned; bed linen and towels did not appear fresh and some had black somethings on them. Breakfast was adequate, and the server was very friendly and accommodating. The Front Desk clerk at check-out was very friendly.
We use the Best Western occasionally but are always treated like we are regular customers. Everything was clean and neat and the coffee was hot in the morning. What else could a person want when they are the road.
We booked this hotel as a halfway point on our way to a snow skiing trip in Colorado. The ratings were great but the first room was not clean. The bed was sloppily made, the shower curtain was halfway off, and there were candy wrappers and crumbs all in the floor. Our second room was better but still not as clean as one might expect according to the reviews. A bed should look crisply made in our opinion. The two we saw looked like someone loosely made them in a hurry. The desk clerk was great and she explained that they were currently short handed and apologized. We reloaded our suitcases and headed on into Colorado. We are Best Western fans and will try again. We must have caught them on a bad night.
the room had not been cleaned well, if at all. Staff at desk seemed friendly and very helpful when booking the room and she accommodated request for a quiet spot. Before, the stay had always been very nice with clean accommodations, so disappointed with this visit.
I was very pleasantly surprised that this hotel was as good as it was. It is located in WaKeeney Kansas, a small town along interstate 70. The size of the room, the cleanliness of the hotel and the staff that I encountered were better than some of the hotels that I have stayed in located in larger cities. I have passed this information on to many friends when asked how my trip was. All that I can say is if you have to stay in Western Kansas, stay here!
We stayed at this Best Western Wakenney Inn on a quick trip to Kansas City. The Hot tub was not hot and the jets didn't turn on. Small pool. Bathroom could have been cleaner. Sheets were dingy and all wrinkled. The blanket very thin , old. Everything was a bit out dated. We stayed at the Best Western in Hays,Kansas on the way back. What a difference. Very nice new modern spacious clean room . Drive the 30 extra miles and stay in Hays Best Western instead ... you'll be glad you did.
Room was clean and comfortable. Compared to hotels costing twice as much I felt that this was the cleanest room I have stayed in over 5 hotel stays and 5 states of travel. Room also had no mechanical issues. Very well maintained.
Nice hotel, clean, and friendly staff. Internet speed slow and not much around to eat in the way of restaurants for delivery, but it's a small town so that's ok. It was a good experience, would stay again if I happened to be in that area
There were bugs in the bed. When I shared this with the fro t desk clerk, it was not a surprise and they did not apologize. This was completely dismissed. Also, the shower and shower mat were filthy. I would not recommend this hotel.
If you need a nice place to stay, stay here. Good beds, nice breakfast, what else do you want? We suggest you give it a try if you need a place crossing the Great Plains. Nice small town too, local restaurants to choose from.
We stay here for work a couple of times a year and it's is always a pleasure to stay. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is decent. We definitely recommend this hotel to stay along i70 in the middle of Kansas.... (if you somehow find yourself in the middle of Kansas, that is!)
Booked this nice hotel for our journey to OKC. The gentleman who checked us in was delightful. I believe his name was Jordan. Nice and clean with a well decorated room. Would stop there again on our next journey.
The WaKeeney Best Western offered us a clean, comfortable room and a good breakfast. The lady at the front desk at check in was extremely efficient. She should be a poster child for multi-tasking, checking people in and answering the phone like the pro I'm sure she is.
The king bed was comfortable and the bathroom seemed clean, as did the lobby and hallways. Breakfast was meh, as usual in this type of hotel. The person who checked me in told me I should've said that my dog is a service dog so I wouldn't have to pay for her. As the spouse of a veteran who has friends with actual service dogs, I found this inappropriate and offensive. Service dogs aren't pets and no one should be claiming that to get a free pet stay. Period.
We stayed at MANY Best Western Hotels on our vacation to Colorado and Kansas and this was right up there with the best. Clean, well appointed and lot's of room! This looks to be a newer hotel and they spared no expense with the comforts and decor. We were lucky to book at this one as they were almost to capacity but found a way to fit us in which we thought was extremely generous. Stay here and you won't be disappointed.
A Best Western Plus so a tad better than regular. Comfortable with pleasant staff. Spacious room. Comfortable king bed and roomy shower. Affordable priced. Very nice stay. Will be back next time driving through here.
Did not know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised, I don't know how old the motel is but it looks new, inside and out, room was very nice comfortable bed, new carpet, staff was very pleasant even calling to check on places for us to eat, all in all very restful and most importantly quiet
very clean room quiet , hotel and very nice breakfast i enjoy fresh fruits and others things very friendly staffs, very helpful ,good service nice beautiful property big comfortable bathroom comfy bed good furniture.
Prairie Land Gem - Usually we pass by Wakenney to a larger town down I-70, but this time we decided to try Wakeeney Best Western. We were not disappointed. Great breakfast! Clean, large room. The pool and hot tub were clean. Friendly staff!! There is also an excellent Mexican restaurant across the road. Dont hesitate to stop.
Typical Best Western experience. Clean, comfortable room, good hot breakfast, a full complement of room amenities in a good location. I really enjoyed the hot tub in the pool area at the end of a long hard day. Perfect temperature for a relaxing soak. I had some trouble at check-in, but overall this was good value for a safe, secure, clean and convenient overnight stay.
Checked in at 10PM. Around midnight AC unit began making loud noises waking up our family. We were moved from a Double queen room to a single King with pull out. When we arrived at the King room there was not sufficient bedding. I had to go back to the old room and retrieve bedding for my two kids. In the morning I expressed concern to a very nice lady working the front desk who was very apologetic and said if it was booked through them they could have refunded the money. I was informed I must contact Expedia since Hotels.com booked through them. I contacted Hotels.com and was offered a 50 dollar coupon because the manager refused to provide any compensation. When I was contacted by Best Western customer service they claimed I never spoke with anyone about my concerns. Not true. In the end, Best Western said they are sorry for what happened and they will include it in their educational programs for future management and customers but would not provide any compensation. Thank you to Hotels.com and Expedia for stepping up and providing a partial refund because Best Western failed to step up and take care of their customer.
Had dry cereal for breakfast Had to ask for milk very little . No eggs, no muffins , no donuts..Toilet was plugged up , place smelled like truck driver body odor / crap . Old lady at front desk in morning took reservation for someone on phone while i stood there and waited for receipt . could not do more than one thing at a time . Keep driving do not waste money .
Stayed here and had a good experience. Did have an issue with the shower curtain which they told us was fixed after we left. Breakfast was good as was coffee. No instructions for in room coffee machine which would have been nice. Air conditioning was loud.
Great breakfast on my stay day they had two kinds of bacon and almond milk so my keto diet was on point. Originally I had a queen bed room but I wanted to bring my furry friend with me so they switched me to a dog friendly room
I have no complaints, whatsoever. Our room was extra clean and neat, and the management was most courteous and helpful. We were planning on staying in Hays, KS, a few miles east, but everything was booked. I am glad it was.
We were driving home to Colorado from spending Thanksgiving with family In Oklahoma and it started blizzarding about 120 miles into the drive, so after 10 hours on the road (which actually should have been 5) we finally were exhausted from carefully driving 15-20 MPH for over 300 miles. My husband was able to get the very last room and the front desk associate was super friendly and accommodating. She made sure we had an extra roll out bed, extra sheets, comforters, pillows and blankets. The hotel itself is very clean the bed was very comfortable. There's a complementary breakfast, pool, a hot tub and a small workout center. Would definitely recommend if passing through!
We really enjoyed our stay here. Everything was great. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Room was clean, beds comfortable, not one bug of any kind. Shower was very powerful, we loved it. Breakfast good, too. Will try to stay here every time we come through on the way to Colorado.
Nice hotel. We arrived approx., around 10:30pm. Nice clerk at the counter. Got a 3rd floor room. Clean but the AC was a little noisey. 3rd floor ice machine broken. The shower curtain rod was partially broken. Hot breakfast provided. I made a waffle. Breakfast area clean.
I booked online, needing a two bedroom room. After waiting several minutes to check in, the front desk insisted I booked a pet friendly room (which I didn't). Her smarmy attitude in telling me what I did really pissed me off, when I in fact didn't book a pet room and had my online reservation to prove it. She wasn't having it. As I unloaded my luggage, I actually heard her say to another guest, that she'd be in to check him in after she finished her cigarette. Really?? Upon entering my room, I was immediately smacked in the face with a horrible chemical smell, I assume to cover up pet urine stench. There was no remote for the tv, and again the front desk was unwilling to help. She gave us a remote which didn't work and finally got off her duff and got us a replacement remote from another room after my wife insisted she do so. During this time, my twelve year old discovered condoms left in the closet. Nice touch. This is a good looking hotel that is ruined by poor employees. If heading east, keep driving to the next town, I'm sure you'll find better options there.
Easy check-in. Friendly and professional staff- knowledgeable about the area. Comfy beds with wonderful bedding. Easy WiFi access Close to local dining..Plenty of towels and hot water in a squeaky clean room. Great Job!
Our first nonsmoking room wreaked of cigarette smoke. Our replacement room had a dysfunctional sofa sleeper with a mattress that was too small for the frame and very thin. We ended up trying to sleep 4 across in 1 king sized bed. There was also a 2 inch long bug in the bathroom. Breakfast was picked over and the items that were supposed to be warm were cold. I would definitely not stay again.
Super clean hotel with a top notch staff! Everyone from the young man who checked us in to Barb who checked us out, Kaitlyn in the breakfast department made us feel at home! The housekeeping department are equally as awesome!
This is our favorite place as a stopover traveling cross-country. Customer service is ????? Clean ????? Quiet ????? Breakfast ????? Cannot say enough wonderful things about this place! The staff is hard working and friendly. We have always received our BW rewards or eligible free night; and that does not happen at all BW locations. They are busy so make a reservation ahead.
I will start with the positives. The rooms were clean and updated, and the staff when we checked in was pleasant. The room was not facing the highway, and the noise was not bad as others have posted. If our experience stopped at this, I would be happy and would be leaving a 5 star rating. However, when I went to breakfast in the morning and was getting reading to grab my plate, I was YELLED at by a woman working the front desk, from across the lobby...that I was not allowed in the breakfast room without shoes on (I had my sleeping sweatpants and sweatshirt on, and no shoes, as I had just rolled out of bed to go grab something to take back to the room)...it was humiliating and other guests were staring at the interaction. I said nothing, went back to my room, and was too humiliated to go back and get a breakfast. My husband went and asked this same individual for the manager. The manager was sleeping I guess, so my husband confronted her about how she yelled at me for not having shoes on. She apologized, but then defended the act by stating that it is a state health code requirement for guests to wear shoes to the breakfast room. My husband asked if this was posted anywhere, and she said no. Whether it is indeed a requirement or not, it needs to be posted somewhere before you single out and humiliate guests in front of others.
My wife and I decided to stay here on our cross country trip and this was the best hotel that we stayed at during our 2 week trip. All of the staff members were friendly and helpful. Our room was big and spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were fresh and crisp. The hotel is easily accessible from I-70 at Exit 127. We will definitely stay here again
Finally got the repairs done from the hail storm. Pool and hot tub are open again. I always stay here for work. It's a nice place with helpful staff. Best hotel in 50 miles. You won't be disappointed with this place.
We had a wonderful stay at this Best Western, we received a up grade because of our Diamond status and it was a nice room. We enjoyed the hot tub has well and the pool area was very nice. The breakfast was very good and the attendants were very nice and kept everything well stocked.
While traveling through Kansas we stumbled upon this town and chose to stay at this Best Western Plus. Turned out to be a great decision. Our room was like brand new! New carpet, new bedding, fresh paint. The entire hotel was nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, but looked as if they didn't have it fully stocked. I believe the reason for that was there weren't a lot of guests that particular night so food would have been wasted. You really can't go wrong staying here!
We are completing a cross-country, road-trip, road adventure and we are staying at many Best Westerns. Our experience at the Best Western in Waukeeny, Kansas was consistent with the fine care and cheerfulness we have experienced at every stop. Well done Best Western.
Best Western Wakeeney was a very nice, clean, friendly hotel. We traveled with our dog and the front desk staff were very welcoming, she received a couple of treats on check in. We were impressed in the cleanliness of the pet friendly room. The room was odor free and looked great. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip through Kansas.
Clean, nice room. Pleasant and easy check-in (easiest I've had, actually, even at Best Westerns, very quick and efficient). Quiet by my room even though I was next to the elevator; good breakfast, excellent wifi, very friendly staff, and the coffee was actually pretty good (I don't normally like hotel coffee).
The facility is located in a great place. Right on the highway. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Breakfast was very nice. Rooms were very clean. The pricing was very fair for what we received. Thank you WaKeeney Staff.
Place seems to have been hit by some bad weather so some rooms are out of commisssion.... overall, a decent stay ..... rooms were clean, if a bit dated. Staff at breakfast was amazingly friendly and efficient
The hotel was very nice for less than $100 to stay. We stayed when the pool was closed so I can not say how that part of the hotel stay would have been. The night check in was excellent and she was very friendly.
This hotel is a quiet refuge along I-70. The staff are friendly, caring and competent. The hotel is clean and well maintained. WaKeeney was hammered by a terrible hailstorm in August, so the pool and hot tub were out of commission. Despite the damage they had incurred, the rest of the hotel looked great.
We stay at this Best Western every year while visiting family for Thanksgiving. The staff is always super helpful, friendly and go above and beyond to make everyone feel at home. My only complaint would be I was not informed that the pool would be closed the entire week we were there. It wouldn't have made a difference of where we stayed but a discount would have been appreciated for the inconvenience.
I would stay at this hotel again. The staff was friendly and gave the feeling they were glad you chose to stay with them. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The coffee was hot and the breakfast was fresh. Though we did not use the pool and hot tub, the area surrounding them was well kept. I might also add that the hotel was very quiet. There were hunters with their dogs as it is Pheasant season in Kansas and we did not here a peep. Slept very sound!
Staff, service and hotel are all of excellent caliber. I stay here every year when visiting family for the holidays. I highly recommend this hotel for the friendly staff, excellent breakfast, that is free by the way and great night's sleep.
New and in very good condition. Easy on/off the interstate. Good rate. A couple places to walk to to eat, and fuel close by for those that are jsut looking for a place to sleep and go. Need a vehicle to get to the other places to eat.
I have a bad back, each step is painful. I asked for a room close to the elevator. Got the last one at the very end of the hallway. I thought maybe they are all booked up. My sister-in-law arrived an hour later and she asked for a room near ours--hers is by the elevator!!!!! Now tried to connect to the internet, showed strong signal, connected, then it went away. Then it came back and went away again. I called down and asked if there was a problem. She said they lose it when the wind blows! THERE IS NO WIND!!!! I am on my own mobile hotspot! Here for the funeral of my brother-in -law, would have been nice to have a little customer support.
I have stayed in this hotel several times. A few months ago a hail storm went through the area and damaged the hotel. Several windows are still boarded up. The pool is not working, due to broken windows in that room. Its kinda pricey for the middle of KS. It would be nice if they offered a discounted rate due to the damage and less than ideal conditions
We didn't want to drive an extra 30 minutes to Hays and was happy to find this place in Wakeeney. It's a nice hotel and I learned on this trip real quick if it's a Best Western "Plus", then we'll be happy.
Would like to start by saying the staff at this Best Western are exceptional. From the retired nurse at the registration desk to the extremely helpful staff in the breakfast area. The woman in the breakfast area treated fence unlike her grandson. She was great! The biggest issue we had was the heat was not working in our room. And the temperature outside was 18 degrees. We arrived late in the evening and it was after we got into bed before we realized the heat was not working. By that point we just put on extra blankets and told the staff in the morning.
The WaKeeney Best Western in the best secret in town! Wonderful and caring employees, great rooms that are super clean, and reasonable cost. The breakfast offerings were generous and the breakfast are was spotless. Thanks so very much.
This place was ok for one night, but we felt like it wasn't very clean. The bathroom sink was filthy when we got into the room--had stuff chipped into it. We really didn't plan to stick around very long, so it was ok.
We had a good night stay at this hotel because of quiet room, good beds,. The staff was very friendly in making reservations and gave us the room location we asked for because of a pet. Room was very clean .
We arrived around dinner time. After checking in the desk suggested a place up the street "on the same side of the road" as the Best Western. We had dinner there which was just satisfactory (will review separately). We will not return to this hotel because we need a town with better eating options. Otherwise, we would stay here again.
This is a great little hotel in western Kansas. The location was clean and the staff was cordial and eager to provide a great experience. We were allowed to use common areas for group gatherings. We were able to bring in sandwiches for a family lunch to the breakfast space.
This hotel is awesome! You can bring your dog. Which was nice since I was traveling with my dog. The only downside was you can't have pets on the bed. Which makes things hard since most pets sleep with their owners
I have been staying at this hotel for the last 6 weeks off and on, and the staff is great to get along with. The amenities are all you would need and expect. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel!
I wish every hotel stay was as good as this one.We got in late and a room was clean and very comfortable. I would stay here again. even after a storm easier in the month they still has a nice place to stay..
After a whirlwind week of road travelling, WaKeeny was our last stop for the night. While the bed was a little too soft for my taste, the room was clean, and lovely. The front desk staff was great to work with, and check out was easy.
I normally stay at Hampton's but a recent policy change requires a 48 hour cancellation notice to avoid charges. This doesn't work on cross country drives where you may get tired and have to stop or you can drive further than planned. So I decided to try Best Western especially now that they have interior doors instead of exterior doors for many of their hotels. I loved the cleanliness of the hotel and the rooms. The breakfast was nice for a buffet and included scrambled eggs. Just really need something quick and coffee to get started. BW I found out will match my status with Hilton. My return trip from Ohio to CA is working out much better and I can wait and book one or two days in advance and not worry about cancellation fees.
We have enjoyed this Best Western many times via our trips out W to visit family. It is one of our favorite hotels. This is a nice, clean, quiet hotel with a delicious warm breakfast every time we have stopped here, over 4x in 2 years. Personnel very warm and friendly.
As usual this Best Western is an awesome chain, pet friendly and a great breakfast with a great staff . The biscuits and gravy, the fresh made pancakes were great and an added breakfast items. Even though this place was close to the interstate, we never heard any traffic,
This hotel was a pleasant surprise as we travelled across Kansas on I70. The manager and staff were friendly and gracious, the room was clean and comfortable, and the bed was not rock-hard. The thing that impressed us most was the small display of pictures and mementos of relatives of the staff who are serving in the military. It was touching and personal -- a wonderful addition to the breakfast area.
The Best Western Wakeeney,Ks was as always a very pleasant experience, everything was clean and the rooms very comfortable. My wife and I got a good nights sleep after being in the Colorado wilderness for nine days. The breakfast was exceptional and the lady working there even prepared breakfast burritos. we stayed there right after a storm damaged several windows in their building and they made the best of the situation. Outstanding stay as always
We checked in late at night, the sweet girl at the front desk was so friendly and kind, our rooms were clean, spacious and the beds were so comfortable. I HIGHLY recommend this Hotel we will be staying here if we stop in Wakeeney!
Every trip to through Kansas this is my place to stay, it's location and near by Chet's family restruant makes it just what I need. There is plenty of options for refueling the driver as well as the vechicle.
The king-bed room we had was spacious as was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the staff was great. The hot breakfast was good although the eggs seemed to have water in them (as though they were powder eggs to start with. The hash browns were bland, however, the sausage patties were very good. The front desk was great for both checking in and checking out.
Staff very accommodating! Nice rooms, good location for our travel from New Mexico to KC. Breakfast was ok but did not enjoy the round egg patties(weird) I was traveling with my kids and my husband had made the reservation for the wrong night but they were able to get us a room!
My daughter and I were traveling to WaKeeney for a wedding and had originally made reservations for Friday and Saturday nights only. Our plans changed and we called the hotel as we were driving to WaKeeney on Thursday evening to request a room for that evening. The hotel staff was very accommodating despite the fact that the hotel had received a lot of damage from the wind and hail storm that had moved through the area only a few hours earlier. Our room was ready when we arrived even though we were told we would probably have to move rooms the next morning. They managed the move very efficiently the following morning in a very friendly manner. We were very impressed with the staffs' professionalism considering they were not only dealing with the hotel's damage but with that of their personal homes and cars as well. The hotel was clean and comfortable.
This hotel was a pleasant surprise in this small town. The service was friendly and professional. Breakfast was amazing! Pool was small, but clean. Fitness center was the same. We would recommend this hotel to anyone making the I-70 trek!
The room was very clean and organized. Huge restroom was a plus! We got a relaxing and quiet sleep after driving for over 14 hours. We didn't eat the breakfast there since we decided to sleep in a bit. Nice and friendly staff! Will stay again if we are in the area.
Enjoyed a 2-night stay at the BW Plus in Wakeeney. Room was comfortable, quiet, and clean. Full breakfast was a nice amenity, but except for the sausage gravy, the food was mediocre. Dining area got pretty crowded between 8:00 and 9:00. There are no eating establishments in the immediate area, so everyone was there. Overall, we had a good experience and would recommend to others.
Clean, comfortable rooms with large bathroom vanity. Good breakfast, that unfortunately ends at 9:00 AM, which causes it to be somewhat crowded. Would stay here again & would recommend for those traveling across Kansas.
I was driving cross country and unable to stay awake another mile. I looked to my left and saw this Best Western, drove past the exit, felt that I needed to stay there and took the next exit and went back. I am so glad I did as it was a great stay with great people who love this country and those who serve it...very military friendly.
Staff very friendly and polite. I checked in one afternoon after riding motorcycle about 500 miles on trip. The lady that checked me in took time to tell me a good home cooking place to eat. . The room was very comfortable and slept like a baby. Breakfast was about the best I had on 2 week trip.
Just a nice hotel just off interstate 70. The rooms were clean and pleasant, with lamps with USB and outlets for charging electronics. The staff was friendly, and provided a nice complimentary breakfast. indoor pool and hot tube. Good wi-fi.
A great stop along the way from CO to Kansas City, the staff was pleasant and very accommodating with the room clean and breakfast the next morning awesome. If ever going through there, we would stop there again and would recommend it to family and friends.
I got stuck in the area for the night and chose to stay at th Best Western. The GSR that checked me in was very friendly and and recognized my Diamond Select status and upgraded me. The rooms were very clean and I would recommend this to anyone in the area.
Very Clean hotel. Breakfast area was crowded and not enough food available for the guest. Breakfast custodian was not at all pleasant. Pull out sofa was not at all comfortable. cleaning rag left in Bathroom floor
I was meeting up with boyfriend half way point ,coming from Kansas city , Mo. and he was coming from Denver. Very friendly staff, very clean room, real nice hotel, love the swimming pool & hot tub ,nice weight room. the only thing the elevater stay hot no air condition while we were going up to our room other then that our experience there was excellent. Would recommend this hotel to family and friends if in the area also reasonable price.
Traveling Texas to Colorado this was a good stopping point. The staff were great. The rooms clean but we were lacking a blanket on the bed. Usual good breakfast but fake eggs, a personal peeve. The pool was clean and quiet for a quick splash before getting on the road again.
Stayed one night while passing through the area. Right off I70--convenient access and plenty of lit parking. Arrived late in the evening, but front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. After a quick overview of the facility and breakfast, we were handed our keys. Nice sized room--as we were traveling with bicycles, we were told it was perfectly acceptable to bring them up to our room (even though they have no reported problems with car prowls in their lot...). Used the elevator to take them up...plenty of room for the bikes and our gear. Clean room, comfy beds, although the pillows were all the same and i did not care for any of them--although my hubby did--and the A/C unit worked well. Large bathroom with plenty of hot water, fresh towels and space! Modern tub and sink with euro-style shampoo and body wash. Coffee maker with a large supply of coffee also in room (maybe more than 2 tea bags though...) . Breakfast included with room rate; waffles, eggs, yogurts and cereals. Eating area has room for about 30. Dining staff kept the area clean (although they should have removed the overflowing garbage can) and the food refreshed. Clean, comfy and convenient. I would stay here again.
The hotel staff is very friendly! It is right off the I-70 so it's a great stopping point for those long road trips. The town is small, but the hotel has the amenities of a city hotel. Beds were very comfortable, and the indoor pool was fun.
We stayed at the Best Western Plus on our way out west. The front desk person was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and looked nice, the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was a full breakfast. The room had a refrigerator AND a microwave. Awesome. Small maintenance needed - bathroom fan and showerhead, but overall really nice.
This is a fairly new quality hotel good for travel on I-70. Close access to I-70, but very quite night. Good beds, breakfast, parking, & WIFI. Small fitness room but quality equipment. Standard breakfast for BW, well maintained breakfast area with fair seating space.
Very Nice hotel. It is supposed to be non-smoking but the room smelled of cigarettes when we entered. The hotel was full so we couldn't change rooms. The person at the desk brought up air fresheners and with the air conditioning going it reduced the smell. The bed was very comfortable and the room spacious and nicely laid out.
Went to Wakeeney for the first time to spend a couple of days with some family and this location made it really great and convenient. Would definitely stay there again. This hotel made it a very clean and comfortable stay!!
This place! So clean and comfortable. For me, the beds and pillows made for a great night's sleep. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast had lots of options. It was a perfect place to stay on our long trip to Sacramento.
I will keep it short and sweet! Everything from the hot breakfast, wonderful staff, spotless building, great beds (fridge in the rooms), location, etc deserve an A plus. This building was recently remodeled so it has the clean and fresh feel. A great place to stay!
This is a very nice hotel with nice rooms. Everything was very clean and fresh. I booked a double room on the BW website and 15 minutes later I got a call from the hotel. A double room was not available but they offered to upgrade me to a King Suite at no additional cost. The kids didn't mind sleeping on the sleeper sofa. The pool was small but clean and the kids enjoyed it. The breakfast in the morning was nice. It is your typical hotel continental breakfast but it filled us up. There is something for everyone. The hotel staff were very nice and offered dinner suggestions. The town of WaKeeny is very small but nice. There aren't very many restaurants in the area - if you want that, you should stay in Hays. We ate at the Western Kansas Saloon which was ok. This is the perfect stopover if you are driving across Kansas.
Have needed to stay in Western Kansas for three funerals and a family reunion in the past year. The staff are always so helpful an courteous. Rooms and all amenities are always in great shape and well tended to. I would recommend for anyone needing to stay in Western Kansas along the I=70 corridor.
Right off the Interstate, super easy in/out as we drove across the country. Clean, comfortable room. Internet worked, got some work done, and had a pleasant experience. Not much to see in middle Kansas, but this hotel was just what we expected...
I am a veteran, a disabled person, and suffer from PTSD. I travel extensively and with my certified/registered service animal that happens to be a small 22 year old parrot and have never had any issue at any hotel chain (I usually stay at Hilton, Marriott, Holiday Inn proprieties) until now. My service animal has allowed me to avoid aggressive narcotic drugs or in-patient treatment for service related trauma and PTSD. This hotel manager (maybe owner) told me they only allow dogs as service animals and ONLY if the guest had an observable physical disability that required a service dog. In other words, the guest had to be blind with a seeing eye dog. They insisted they were meeting the minimum requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It was too late to cancel my reservation and I had no choice but to check in and pay extra fee. The total cost ended up being more expensive than the higher rated and higher quality hotels a few exits down the interstate highway. Other observations about this hotel: The rooms are not quiet. You can hear noise from other rooms, hallways, vending room, above you... making a good night's sleep impossible. The room appeared clean but smelled musty - not outright foul but definitely odors. I believe a lot of travelers choose this hotel because it is likely the only pet-friendly-for-a-fee in the area. There were a lot of dogs in rooms when I stayed. There's a disgusting dog "walking" area right outside one entrance. WIFI is unusable. As an IT professional I knew instantly their guest network was not installed, setup, or operated correctly. I ended up tethering my laptop to my cell phone for internet. Awful television service. There was only some basic channels and no premium channels and only Standard Definition(SD) picture quality. Heck, even the Econolodge and Super 8 just up the street offered HBO and ESPN in HD. Upon reflection I blame myself for this really bad experience. One should stay with what they know when on a road trip. This is especially true of hotels because you can count on a acceptable experience at a quality hotel chain. I know there are exceptions but rarely. During the last 2 weeks I stayed (with my service animal) at 6 Holiday Inn Express and 3 Hilton Inns and they were wonderful. Also, the price was comparable or less than this Best Western.
I booked this place by accident not knowing the rooms all have outside entrances. Location waa safe, rooms are older, but are clean and bed was comfortable. I would not hesitate to stay there again. Staff very friendly. Hotel also has,a restaurant. Free breakfast at the restaurant is included with room. I did not eat breakfast there, but did eat dinner there on a separate trip and the food was good and the prices were reasonable.
Had a great stay, very clean and will stay more at this chain! Nice employees very respectful! Quiet and great parking! Great breakfast !Coffee in the room nice coffee pot! Comfortable, close to Highway easy access!
Hotel was clean, breakfast good, personnel were helpful and was close to interstate. Would recommend this hotel to others traveling through Kansas. Have been using Best Western recently and find them to be consistently satisfactory.
We paid $89 with the AAA card as a walk-in. A fair price for a clean quiet room. We noticed new carpets in areas which shows a caring management which keeps up the property. The desk clerk was very pleasant. Our only negative was a noisy a/c unit which creates a draft on the bed. The area appears safe and we would return.
Front desk friendly and helpful. Very small town. Breakfast was typical and good. Only a few places to eat and a Dairy Queen. Good little cafe just down the street. Easy off and on on the way to Denver.
Pretty basic place. Had a weird smell in room and hallway. Breakfast was below the bar compared to other Best Westerns I've stayed at. Staff was very friendly. Room was quiet and clean. I don't understand what the "plus" means but this hotel is a basic Best Western.
This was an ideal stop driving through Kansas with my grandson. The indoor pool provided a much needed play time for my grandson after a long day of driving. Everything was clean and the staff were extremely friendly.
1st in wakeeney. It is clean, safe and quiet. The people are kind and do not bother you with too many questions. If you're a late sleeper, i do not recommend getting a room on the 1st floor. It may get a little loud.
This is a very clean, accessible hotel with easy access off I-70. Everything is always clean and shiny at the hotel. They allowed us to check in a few minutes early and were very accommodating throughout our stay.
Very clean friendly staff was happy with stay. We would recommend this hotel if you are ever out in western Kansas. Only problem was phone had a short in it and would ring every 45 mins. Unplugged it and took care of problem.
We stayed here on Wednesday, April 26th. Sharon, who worked the service desk, was very nice and knowledgeable. The room was clean and bed comfortable. It included a microwave, mini-fridge, & large flat screen TV. The room was quiet, but from time to time we would hear a train that wasn't too far from the hotel. The pool was closed due to maintenance, but the hot tub was available. They have a nice gym. They also offer a hot breakfast of sausage, eggs, waffles, regular milk as well as Almond Milk. They have a variety of toppings for the waffles including chocolate, peanut butter, and butterscotch chips. There's also cereal, yogurt, instant oatmeal and some fresh fruit. There are a couple gas stations and a Pizza Hut close by. Shirley checked us out and was very friendly and kind. The rate of the room was very reasonable for western Kansas. If in the area we would definitely stay here again without hesitation.
Great place to stay and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and the wifi is fast! If you're traveling west on I-70, stop in Hays for snacks or meal, then drive on to Wakeeney, it's worth it!
I would highly recommend this hotel vs. any other in the area. The rooms are clean and staff is very friendly and helpful. The high speed internet worked very well. Hotel was easy to access, right off of I-70, though a sign for the exit (hotels etc.) would have been nice as I passed the exit the first time.
Had to stay here for KSHSAA Regional Wrestling and even though hotel was filled up the staff still did tasks and carried out business in a fast and professional manner. Although they did not seem to be prepared to have such a large number of people at breakfast (which is understandable).
Well located hotel with easy interstate access but still quiet. Nice and clean, good looking pool though we did not use it. Easy parking access. Better breakfast room than normal with lots of space. Room lighting could be brighter for older eyes. Wifi was somewhat variable with less speed than average but still useable.
I have stayed here several times and have not had a bad experience yet. Convienant location, clean and up to date facility, very nice and helpful staff and decent breakfast. Several restraunts to eat at as well. A+
Traveling across Kansas, it was a good place to stop. It is very near to gas station and places to eat. It is also close to a Kansas scenic by-way. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is very good. If you are traveling I-70 in the winter and need to pull off because of the weather, definitely try to make it to the Wakeeney Best Western.
The room was clean, comfortable and surprisingly quiet even though we were right next to the lobby. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, but don't be late or the good stuff will be gone! We will certainly stay again.
After a long day of road construction maneuvering, Kansas bugs obscuring the windshield, and the realization I would not reach my original goal for the day, I pulled into this property and was instantly placed in a better mood. Room was lovely, clean, and the bed was welcoming and much appreciated. Cat liked it, too.
We had a King-Sized suite, which was nice-sized, and comfortable. This hotel has not been recently renovated, but everything is clean and well-kept. It is north of interstate 70, with a very close proximity. There are two truck stops with Subway and McDonald's restaurants nearby, and a restaurant with home-cooked food called Jake and Chet's that is within walking distance. Hays is about a 30 minute drive to the West, with many more shopping and restaurant options. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We somehow didn't get our room cleaned after our first night due to a mishap with our "do not disturb" sign. They gave us 250 points toward our rewards account because of the mixup, and the problem was corrected for the next night's stay. If you are traveling and need a place to stay while passing the Wakeeney area, I recommend it without reservation. Be sure to check out the downtown square during your stay. Wakeeney is the Christmas City of the Plains and has over 6,000 lights decorating this quaint little town from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day.
This is a good location to stop for the night while traveling out west or back home. We sleep well, we enjoy the breakfast, the coffee available for guests is really great tasting, and our dog is welcome. Thanks!
After three days in an horrific Super 8 in Colorado Springs - this place was like the Taj Mahal. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was fantastic. New furniture. Fantastic large screen TV with lots of channels. The luggage cart was available, and the room was on first floor. Breed hot coffee 24/7. Free parking near your room. The fridge and microwave were spotless and worked perfectly. Breakfast was evidently amazing according to my wife - though I was unable to participate due to illness. The architects/owners have thought of everything. Even the light switches were where you would expect them, and lighted, so you could actually find them in the dark. When my sudden illness deteriorated to the point that I needed emergency care, the hotel staff moved heaven and earth to provide additional housekeeping service, provide accurate directions to the nearby hospital, and extend my wife's stay, day by day, until I was discharged. All of this for a lower rate than I paid at that horrific Super 8.
Finding pet-friendly hotels across this great country are challenging- discovering one that is super clean, staff friendly, provides treats for pets AND great amenities for humans is just amazing! I'll stay here again!
Hotel is clean and new. We were on the road and wanted to stop in Hays. There were no rooms available. This place is lovely. Now we can go back to staying in Wakeeney (I had vowed never to stay in the Econo Lodge on the other side of the highway again.) The breakfast was not properly staffed, but management wrote me an apology. We will stay here again. Be advised, if you like expresso drinks you will have to drive elsewhere in the morning :-) No coffee shops in town.
Our first choice city was filled up so we traveled another 30 miles to Wakeeney because they had a Best Western. Very nice property. It had all the amenities we'd want from a hotel--good breakfast, good Internet, clean and quiet.
This hotel is relatively new or renovated because it was clean bright and modern. Our room was nice and clean. Breakfast was quite good for a continental breakfast. Will stay there again if we are passing through.
This is a very nice, hospitable hotel property. Very well-suited to the Best Western brand. The rooms are WONDERFUL! And, with the available elevator, there is little reason to worry about "which floor", even for someone who OVER-PACKS as much as I do!! :-) If there's a "down" side to this property, it's that I'm not familiar with restaurants in the town, so I don't have ready access to a good place to eat when I'm there. :-) The proximity to I-70 might make up for that.
I stopped here on my long trek home from Michigan to San Diego. After an eight hour drive it was so nice to be greeted by friendly staff and a clean comfortable room. My traveling companions and I sat in the lobby that evening drinking wine and conversing with the lady at the desk. The hotel was also dog friendly and the staff went out of their way to greet my dog Jack. They even gave me a small ziploc bag with a treat, instructions, and bags to take care of his well you know??. I thought that was a great idea as a reminder to owners to be responsible with their pets. I would stay here again.
We continued the Nevada-Missouri-Nevada marathon this month, with a very pleasant stay at the B/W Plus in Wakeeny, Kansas. It is a relatively new, well-maintained inn just off I-70, and just at the right distance from MidMo (Columbia, Missouri.) Breakfast is OK; nothing spectacular. Comfortable, quiet.
When we travel we always try to stop at a location where there is a BW hotel. Very seldom are we disappointed in them. Beds are comfortable and breakfast is quick and good. Bathrooms are always clean. Love them!
Wakeeney, Kansas has a hidden treasure! If you are driving across I-70 and need a great hotel to spend the night, stop here. Family and pet friendly, we were greeted by a sweet mature woman who can obviously run a tight ship. The hotel was very clean, secure and well cared for. It was also quiet and offered the great night of sleep we needed. Breakfast was good, but don't get up late, or you may miss it!
We were greeted by a friendly woman at front desk. I wish I got her name so I could post it. Very pet friendly, gave dogs treat bags! We are moving to Denver Colorado from powell ohio and needed a place to rest. I recommend this hotel.
The staff is very nice. It's not super clean though. I suspect that the rooms rarely have the carpets steam cleaned, but they just spray air freshener inside. Because as soon as you turn the A/C on, you smell odors. We also had some dead bugs in the bathroom. For $125 per night, we've stayed in better hotels.
I had a good time in Kansas at the wedding then to the hotel was very good rooms were nice staff was good it was a nice time there would go there again thank you very much very thing was clean people at the hotel there nice to us and are kids
Great hospitality when entering the lobby. Greeted by General Manager Pat , who was running the front desk. My husband , who is diabetic, needed a quick snack and was given a bowl of Cheerios late at night. Very hospitable !! Was surprised to see Pat also the person who makes and sets up a fantastic breakfast. Nobody goes hungry. The hotel is in need of some renovation to brighten up the hallways and rooms. The King suite was very open and loved being able to open the window for fresh air. Bed was comfortable. We felt super safe as there was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and Tornado Watch after we checked in. The wind actually made the parking lot lamp post sway, but we had no worries. Nice small coin laundry room on second floor. The exercise room was good enough, small but clean. TV cable connection was terrible in exercise room (no big deal) and I notified front desk afterward. Would definitely stay here again.
I stayed here while on motorcycle ride. The lady at the desk asked me if I needed a piece of wood for my bike? How thoughtful is that? ( I have been to many hotels with my bike, and no one ever offered this(the wood goes under the kickstand to keep it from digging into the asphalt which can cause bike to fall over). I had a non smoking king suite. It comes with a love seat type couch and coffee table. My room faced I-70, but it was quiet. AC worked great! Room in good shape, hotel is fairly new. I did not try the breakfast, so no comments on that item.
On my drive to Kansas City I originally planned to stop in Hays, but the BW there is closed for renovation. The agent I spoke to recommended that I stay 30 minutes up the road in Wakeeney. Not only was it a very nice place to stay with wonderfully happy and helpful staff, it was much less expensive. Next time I need to stay somewhere in central KS, I will stop in Wakeeney.
What a find! After a long day on the road from Wyoming the Best Western Motel in Wa-Keeney appeared out of nowhere. It was a great stopping place! The desk clerk was very friendly, and our room was cool, and very inviting. After dinner, the shower hit the spot, and the bed was absolutely wonderful. In fact, it was one of the best we had slept in during our two week vacation. The room, and the bathroom were very clean, and the shower head was most invigorating. We had a delicious breakfast, and the coffee was hot, and very good for a good start to the day. We will definitely stay here again, now that we know it is there.
Room was clean and quiet. Staff very accommodating on check-in and departure. Breakfast was substantial. A hotel we use every year on our annual trip to the Denver area. We have used BW in WaKeeney for the past several years.
Last minute stop here was awesome choice. Excellent room with wonderful bed and breakfast. Military discounts are wonderful and a 'thank you for your service' by guest services is always appreciated. We highly recommend this property for travelers
WaKeeney is one of those towns that if you blink you might miss it. My husband and I are locals & just wanted a night away for our anniversary. Little did we know that this gem that we drive past many times each day is such a wonderful place to stay. You really won't be disappointed. The staff is friendly, the rooms are roomy and clean (the bathroom size was phenomenal!). Definitely something we will consider doing more often. If you are driving thru WaKeeney, this is the place to stay!
We only spent one night at this hotel on our way to Colorado. The staff at the reception desk was very helpful and caring, and made all the difference. You don't get such a lovely service everywhere. The hotel is clean and well maintained. We didn't have the chance to use the pool since we arrived late. The room was clean and, most important, quiet. We had a good nice sleep. We will stay there again if we have the chance
We stopped for the night last minute during our cross country road trip. The front desk ladies were very friendly and helpful. No complaints. We didn't wake up early enough to get breakfast but the area was nice and clean.
Hubs and I found this hotel on our trip home from Yellowstone. We had stayed at a BWP in Casper and were quite impressed so we thought that we would try this one. The staff was wonderful! The rooms were clean but a bit tired and need of updating. The breakfast was pretty good we especially liked the sausage it was very tasty ??
Actually, I know that Kansas is the Great Plains region with many rolling hills but the vast stretches of emptiness remind me of the desert region where I live. In other words, there are long distances at times between hotels and motels. Thus, I was pleased to learn of this Best Western in Wakeeney since it was right about the half way point on an unexpected journey I had to take. Staff was friendly, the room was spotless, and the breakfast area was tidy. The bed was comfortable, internet service was good, and the hotel is conveniently located right off of the interstate.
My wife, daughter and I enjoyed the stay. The breakfast and room was excellent and the pool and staff were outstanding. Very good value. We will stay at this motel the next time we travel through Kansas.
Things could have been much better if job descriptions assisted each other when there was a need that arose. Instead, it seems like there was too much "that ain't my job" attitude, which overwhelmed one department, while another department could have organized support to the lone person responsible for feeding all guests sustained for a 3 hour morning period. Management should instill team work and cooperation for the betterment of all involved. Until this facility works on this, I and my wife do not recommend this property as a first choice when in this area of the country. Call ahead first if you agree with us and see if they have taken notice and offer to provide you with a better experience..."Give 'em a chance to serve you", then you at least can feel good about trying to remain loyal to the BW family of Hotels!
What a great surprise to find such a great hotel, staff, and breakfast in such a small town of Wakeeney, Kansas! My family really enjoyed our short stay while we drove from NC to CO on vacation. If I ever have the opportunity to stay here again, even if I have to go out of my way, I will definitely do so. The rooms, the pool, the breakfast, even the public restrooms were fantastic. Our home away from home.
We stayed here on the way west and back. Friendly staff, clean, and a small pool and hot tub for the kids. Includes breakfast and wifi. Rooms seem new, not old and dated. Also has a fitness room. Much better value than similar hotels in surrounding cities.
This hotel is in a very tiny town, but the customer service was superb! Very kind, helpful, and welcoming. The provided breakfast was typical, and included some fresh fruit, biscuits and gravy, and eggs. The ladies who worked the breakfast area were so sweet and personable. One even pulled me aside and asked if I'd like a little baggie to take some snacks for my little ones. How thoughtful. The only negative is that they didn't have a crib to rent.(I forgot my playpen at home!??) Wi-fi was very strong. I would stay again in a heartbeat!! Thanks for GREAT service, ladies!!
Kudos to the staff for being so welcoming and helpful during our 2-night stay. The rooms were really clean and the complimentary breakfast was quite good, although pretty typical. No question we got the value out of our investment.
Thought we had stayed here before when booking but it is a new hotel, and nice. We found that we like the "Plus" of Best Westerns. Nice, new and comfortable in addition to being right where we needed to reach for the night.
Came in late and had a wonderful nights sleep and a very reasonable rate. Breakfast was pretty good - waffles are hard to mess up. Bed was very comfortable as were the pillows and the room was very clean and had a blow dryer and coffee Did hear noise from the interstate but it wasn't terrible
We were just passing through and wish we would have had more time to stay there. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was well presented and good for a continental breakfast. We will recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the area.
We had reservations for Hays Kansas Best Western; however, that hotel was flooded by a broken fire sprinkler pipe...got on our laptop and then our phone and made a quickie reservation for the next (heading west) Best Western: Wakeeney...yes us and about 10-20 other travelers who had the same fate! Great hotel! Very nice, friendly staff, room was very clean, very comfortable.I think this hotel has the only elevator in town! Had the pleasure of breakfasting with a native Kansan; good breakfast, good company. Sometimes a sense of urgency can create 'instant camaraderie' we were all 'lucky' in that regard! Very nice landscaping, enjoyed talking to the gentleman about his Kansas rose pruning technique. Not an experience you get often! Want to thank these people for taking 'us all in' under difficult circumstances!
Nice hotel, was traveling and was trying to book hotel online driving, and was unsuccessful. Called and lady on the phone helped me, offered the Best Western Rewards...free, which discounted our two rooms. Nice comfy beds, clean bathrooms. Breakfast was ok,
This is the second year in a row that we have spent one night at the Best Western Plus, WaKeeney while driving to Denver and we really like it. This hotel is pet friendly, clean, well-maintained, cheerful, conveniently located - in a nutshell it offers a great sleep experience at a reasonable price. They offer free Wi Fi and the included breakfast is very good. Not sure how many more western road trips we will take but if we have another left in us, while heading west on I-70 we will plan to overnight at the Best Western in WaKeeney.
We stumbled onto this Best Western and were SO glad we did. The ladies behind the counter were wonderful and friendly! The room was super clean and we loved talking to the housekeeping staff (locals). We would definately stay here again. I highly recommend this hotel.
Staff was friendly. Room was clean. Check in took a good thirty minutes bc we had to stand in line. There was only one person working the desk even though there were two people there. Breakfast was good, except for running out of food. When they say they pull breakfast at 9, they're not joking.
Stopped here passing through on a busy Fourth of July weekend when Hays hotels were booked up. We needed four rooms and they were gracious to give us the last ones! Whew! Clean - great service and even though crowded because it was full we all had a great time. 1) our shower pressure was off because of a faulty diverter - informed desk 2) breakfast was typical for these places but well supplied 3) pool was adequate but too busy for our group so we didn't sample it
I have found that Best Western is the best choice for me and my travels over the last 50+ years I would estimate that better than 75% 0f my trips were business the remainder was personal. My wife was usually with me on the personal trips and she was very satisfied.
Evening desk clerk failed to mark our room as booked. On 2 separate occasions, we had people using keys to come into our room. How safe is this? What could have happened if we had not been in the room? When it happened at 11:15 PM, person at desk said how easy something like this could happen - NO apology!
Was a very nice clean hotel. My husband and I were pleased with the breakfast which was the basic warm breakfast of waffles, eggs, ,sausage, ,toast, cereal, fruit etc. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The check in was very easy and the clerk very nice.
My know means I would like you to understand this was a clean a nice hotel. But I could not sleep nor could my husband there was an eerie feeling in the atmosphere. It is off the interstate so it is easily accessible from highway.
Stayed here for two nights for a college friend's wedding. She booked the hotel so I was trusting that it would be what we needed for our stay. The place was clean and the breakfast was good enough considering the options. They had a few warm choices, like eggs and sausage, along with toast, waffles, cereal, etc. We did not have time to enjoy the pool or gym but they both looked nice. The service was friendly and I have no complaints about the stay. Would stay here again if need be.
Nice newer hotel. Easy to find, good parking. Good service at check-in and check out. Good rooms / bathroom, etc. Beds are a little soft for my taste, but slept well after a long day driving. Breakfast fair - I think all breakfasts have gotten a little less interesting over the years. A little slow to restock, and you'd better get up and at it early - breakfast only goes until 9AM.
No ice on 3rd floor. The hotel was about average or less. The breakfast was less than what I have seen at other Best Western hotels. If you need a place to sleep it will do. But, I would not use it for a place to work out of.
We stayed at this hotel for a wedding and were lucky to be able to get an early check in so that we could get ready for the wedding after traveling 4 hours. Our room was clean and spacious. When we travel there are two things that are a must for our family - breakfast and a pool. This location has both. The staff made sure that the breakfast was well stocked throughout the time the breakfast was to be served and the pool area was neat and clean. The workout area was small but the equipment was new and worked great for my needs. The pillows were a little flat by the time the night was over but the bed was comfortable for a hotel bed.
This hotel is very nice, clean, and the employees are incredibly kind and helpful! Mrs. Barb and everyone else that we encountered during our stay were so remarkable that I didn't want to leave Kansas. Rooms are cleaned daily and the complimentary breakfast is delicious and includes a nice variety of food. The room included a mini fridge, microwave, coffee machine with: coffee, creamer, sugar, straws & tea, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, clean towels, and toiletries (indoor pool also). The beds sleep like a cloud and the room temps are perfect.Employees go above and beyond to help guests. The hotel is positioned right off of the highway and you can arrive at Fort Hays State University from Wakeeney in about 20 minutes tops. Its very easy to find your way around. #EXCELLENT TRIP!
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. We had no problems or complaints. Breakfast was hot and fresh and tasty. The staff was attentive and made us feel welcome. The room was nicely arranged and included a reclining chair.
There is long distance between town in western Kansas; I was fortunate to find this place on an evening drive from Kansas City. I dealt directly with the hotel staff to make a reservation; she was courteous on phone and friendly on arrival. the room was large, very clean with excellent bed. The small fitness room had every thing I needed. The breakfast was tasty. The staff were exceptionally cordial and helpful. That heartland no nonsense hospitality.
Stayed the other night for business. Clean room, quiet would stay again if i need to. Bottle of water offered at ck in. Normal breakfast. Staff friendly. Parking lot a bit rough. Pool was nice hot tub closed for mait.
Clean, comfortable hotel with easy access to I-70, food, and gas. The kitchen was being remodeled so there was no hot breakfast, but everything else was great. The desk clerk signed me up for the Best Western program to earn free nights.
The Best Western was very clean with a warm pool, great hot tub, and spacious rooms. The beds were fine, but the noise from the other rooms was the biggest disappointment. I could hear the people next to me talking late into the evening and early in the morning. The breakfast could have been better as well. The refrigerator had a separate freezer compartment, which was nice for the frozen cooler packs.
We stayed here 1 night upon traveling back to Colorado. While the room size was nice, the pull out sofa was in pretty bad shape - multiple springs missing and fabric holding the mattress in place was torn in several places. We brought a small dog with us and while they charge extra (which I knew in advance) - you have to also request a pet-friendly room. They are limited on those, so be sure to contact the facility in advance to secure the type of room you want. Also, the king size bed in our room was rather "bouncy", so the night's sleep wasn't as restful as I hoped it would be. Wish we would've known earlier than check-in that there was some repair work in the kitchen and they offered less than a usual continental breakfast. I appreciated the staff that worked with us, but glad to have only stayed here one night. Would consider booking again if we go this route again, but will definitely call beforehand if we bring our dog with us again.
This Best Western is new, nice and clean! The quality of the hotel is almost as good as a Hampton Inn. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were nice and roomy. Facilities were very clean and in working order. A definite repeat stay next time I am in the WaKeeney area.
I've stayed at this hotel many times over the last several years. I find it to be very well maintained and clean. The front staff are always courteous and friendly. It's convenient to get to, right off I 70.
While on a trip to tour some Kansas sites, my children and I spent one night here. The room was very clean and nicely updated. We enjoyed the pool and fitness room. Breakfast is served from 6-9, and choices were sparse when we arrived at 8:30. Nevertheless, I would recommend the hotel as a pleasant option along the highway.
Ver nice hotel, would stay there again in a heart beat.Very clean and inviting pool area. The breakfast was great. The rooms very clean and very well appointed. If in the area again I would surely stay here again.
This hotel is so well maintained. The staff take pride in keeping it nice. There is a good restaurant close by called Jake and Chek that has great home made food and nice variety. The pool and hot tub are clean.
We were driving thru to colorado and stopped here since they allowed pets for only $10 fee and easy on/off from I-70. Staff were very friendly, place is very clean, bed comfy, room nice size. My only recommendation...better pillows and shower head needs cleaning as only half the holes spray water.
Very comfortable with clean rooms and friendly staff. Great breakfast and the WaKeeney location is about $25. cheaper than Hays and that was a great selling point. Accomodated my service animal with a smile. Beware of the hot tub floor grates - SHARP!
The staff is great. The rooms are very nice. The location is extremely convenient to the interstate. The mattress was weak, and the eggs at breakfast are terrible. Overall though, a good value for the money.
When you stay at the Best Western Plus Wakeeney Inn & Suites. You will always find the rooms are clean and you will receive great service from the staff. This is where we chose to stay when we are in Wakeeney, Kansas
With no elevator we did not get a room we wanted which was two queens. We shared a king was very uncomfortable and if one of us moved slightly while in bed the other person in bed would easily feel it and wake up. Very annoying.
Without exception the staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Pet friendly although there is an additional $10 charge. Convenient to I-70. If you like Mexican food you need to try the restaurant right across the street. Very authentic Mexican food.
I was born and raised nearby and know the hotels in the area. We go back to visit family and stay here also for indoor pool and hot tub. Good beds, covers. towels, water pressure, tv, internet etc.... Best hotel in the area including Hays. Staffed by people who take pride in their work.
This is a very nice hotel. They have a very good breakfast. There room's are very clean and there and there wifi is better then most hotel's.The staff is really friendly. They had breakfast done befor 6 am. Which I thought was nice cause I had to be at and appointment bye 6 am
The staff is very frindly, knowledgable, and took great pride in the Motel's operation. The room we stayed in was absolutely in the best of shape and we found nothing that was not working in the best of shape. The room was well furnished and spotless. A wonderfully functioning large screet TV and super quality Wi-Fi servece. I was absolutely pleased with this facility and would recomend it over all others.
This hotel is clean, affordable and very nice with convenient access to I-70. They have a hot breakfast, exercise room and indoor pool and a very nice, accommodating staff. Will definitely stay here again if in this part of the country!
I have stayed at this Hotel for 3 years in a row during my annual hunting trip to Kansas. Everything has been excellent during my 3 stays. The staff is friendly and helpful when needed. The Best Western is extremely convenient to restaurants and I-70.
We could hear every noise through paper thin walls from people talking, walking and taking showers or going to the bathroom. The beds are extremely uncomfortable. It was difficult to regulate the temperature. We will not stay here again. This hotel is WAY overpriced for the accommodations!
This hotel appears to be newly remodeled. Everything is very clean. The staff was helpful at check in. The breakfast is typical hot breakfast, good quality. In room coffee is decent. The room was quiet, and comfortable. Very pleasant stopover, I would stay here again for a longer stay if I were visiting/working in this area.
When we checked in we were welcomed by a very nice staff person who was very helpful in assisting us to find a nice place for a dinner. The place recommended was, indeed warm, with good service and great reasonable food. This was a good recommendation by the hotellier. When checking out we discovered a tribute display to veterans of hte area and when asked we were told that it was for the members of hte hotel staff who were in service or had been medically discharged due to injury. A discount was given to us fo r my daughters' being a Coast Guard wife, a generous gift.
Was coming home from Colorado when entering Kansas rain in to some BAD weather. The Front Desk Lady working the 3-11 shift eased my mind about the tornadoes that had touched down not to far away. What to do in case of another one. Where to eat supper at and what time breakfast was. Made me feel like I was going to Grandma's house that everything was WONDERFUL. Nice clean room, Awesome bed. Good night sleep. Glad I had to stop. Will be making this my stop now when driving back and forth from MO to CO.
Traveling from St. Louis to Colorado and needed a pet friendly hotel. They were very accommodating of the dogs and even provided treats and a clean up bag. There was a $10/pet fee. They put us near the door so we had easy access to go in and out. Nice grassy area for the dogs. Room was clean and breakfast was great. Would definitely recommend for anyone with pets.
on way to colorado, there is a restaurant nearby , not much else, clean rooms, elevator, pool but not used, bfast is standard, easy to park, but noise in next room low lifes can afford best western or were they desperate?
The walls are paper thin. You could hear and understand the neighbors conversation and I'm hard of hearing. Hard to find as not listed on freeway signs and sign is on hotel and very small. The hotel sign is very small and only on the building. I missed the hotel and had to go to next exit for Wakeeney. Outside noise is also not muted inside hotel. Rooms look nice but I wanted to sleep and get back on road but that was not possible so was very tired next morning. I thought the pillows were very uncomfortable also.
Overall everything was fine at this motel except for the thin walls and that it was full of hunters apparently on some broke back trip. There was loud noise all night from the next room and they weren't cleaning their rifles if you get my drift. That's all well and good but it does not make for a restful evening for the people in the adjacent rooms. The breakfast is also terrible, lots of fake food and bad coffee.
After stopping 2.5 hrs prior at a hotel we checked into we were relieved to find this wonderful hotel. The prior hotel had a big black spider in my bed! We packed it up and drove 2.5 hrs until I felt comfortable to try another. This hotel renewed my faith in a clean bug free bed. The women working in the hotel were very warm and friendly. The price was a bit more but well worth my peace of mind to be sleeping in a clean bed!
Always Comfortable. Love the beds and the rooms are easy to cool in the summer. I wish the refrigerator would have been plugged in. The smaller building is easier to get around inside. Why Trip Advise insists that I use 200 characters to make a statement is beyond me.
This is a 3 story motel with elevator. Room was clean, quiet and the Internet worked well. Mattress was soft, but that's personal preference. No issues. For late arrivals, your restaurant options are limited. This is a small Kansas town. Friendly check in/out staff. I left before breakfast but they had coffee available.
Good prices, clean rooms, good breakfast and friendly staff. However, the wireless internet is unreliable and has a limit on the number of people who can be on at any given time. Not many dining options in town, but there are a few good local establishments. Take time to visit the quaint downtown area and take a trip back to America's yesteryears.
Wanted a quiet room. Check in staff was very detailed in reviewing room availability and selecting the best possible option. Even researched all available discount options. Room was clean; no issues there. Pool is small and was being enjoyed by a young family.
My husband surprised me with a plane ticket to visit family in WaKeeney. I booked a room that same day. The staff was friendly and very welcoming. Great breakfast, I have already booked 2 rooms for our upcoming trip at Thanksgiving. Thank you!
We stopped here because it was half between Kansas and Boulder with a baseball game finishing at 9pm. In KAnsas. Nice Hotel but arrived at 3am and and left at 9am. Tidy clean ok price Happy Customers so really not alot else to say about this place
