We were 3 couples staying here in 3 double rooms. One of the rooms had no curtains up and when requested, was told it would be looked into which it never was. As our friends like to sleep in a dark room this was not a good start. Our room was roasting hot when we went into it and when I asked how the a/c worked, was told its turned off in winter. When i did speak to the manager on the phone I was told to open the window!! On the first morning there was no hot water throughout the hotel with the staff giving one excuse after another as to the problem. So showers and hair washes were out of the question. Turns out it was a broken boiler which we did get informed of when we returned to the hotel later that day. Another issue on another morning which was slightly more serious was, no cold water to any of the rooms at the front of the hotel, which affected the other couple with us. This was found out when attepting to take a shower and almost having a serious scalding accident if not jumping out of the shower quickly and then slipping on the tiles thankfully to no ill effect but did suffer minor scalding which needed treatment of cold water of which there was none!! They had to fill the waste bin to flush the toilet!!! And when they asked for some cold water at reception so they could brush their teeth they were given a cup of cold water, until they objected to that and were given a jug/kettle. Not even a bottle of water!! Again this problem went on for therest of the day only to be told at the end of the day that an isolation valve in one of the guests rooms had been turned off in error by the guest therefore shutting all the cold water supply off at the front of the hotel. Why was this valve in a guest room in the first place? Why was there not a notice on it not to turn this valve off? And why were the staff not knowledeable as to the whereabouts of said valve as I cannot believe this has never happened before? We have been in touch with Best Western HQ to inform them of all these issues and they have informed us they have corresponded to this hotel but have not had any response from them at all. Doesn't this just say it all??? Yes its in an ideal location but this is not an acceptable reason to give it a 4 star rating. We had no apologies or explanations and the manager who was a not very helpful person at all, who was only ever at the other end of a telephone line, and was never there at the hotel. I would not be prepared to recommend this hotel for the above reasons. The only decent thing was the breakfast and also the waiter, Kristoff, who was a most helpful and polite young man.

    « Unfriendly disappointing hotel »

This hotel is situated on the second and third floor of a building ten minutes from the Stephanplatz. There is no lobby and the reception was brusque and unsmiling and showed us to a very small room with two beds one of which was a fold up bed. We paid 220 per night so not cheap! We refused to accept it and were given another room. The junior suites are spacious and elegantly decorated but our bathroom was dated and the separate toilet room was so small we couldn't sit and close the door at the same time. The desk chair broke and a piece of the chandelier fell on the bed. The worst thing though was the service. The heavily tattooed breakfast lady in the small claustrophobic room next to the reception never said good morning once in the three days we were there, she huffed and puffed every time we asked her for anything. Refused to give us milk for our tea and coffee outside breakfast hours. I can safely say I have never been treated so badly in a hotel as I have been in this one. The management should be ashamed and Best Western informed.

    « horrible »

it was just a bad decision to stay in this hotel. there are many other hotels with similar prices but of better quality. it is absolutely unfriendly environment in there if you travel with kids. almost no space in there, the hall is dark and narrow. the elevator reminds me of iron coffins from horror-films.

    « Staff is Friendly »

We booked this hotel for 5 days because of location and price. When we arrived we were very disappointed with the room. The standard room is two twin beds. We got two beds, but one was a size of a child twin and one was a cot. Now, Vienna is expenses, but the price we paid we were not going to sleep on a cot. I explained this to the gal at the front desk that this was unacceptable. She was very professional and change us to a superior suite for the next day. Like I said the staff is very friendly and the breakfast was excellent.

« Don't let the entry way scare you off. »

From the street, and in the first floor lobby, you might think you made a bad decision about your hotel choice. But once you reach your room, you realize, you are staying in a historical site, with very nice accommodations. Very good breakfast, beautiful room, with a good view of the street. Very close to the shopping district.

« Nice cheap place to stay at Wien »

I would recommend this place to stay at during your stay at Wien: the rooms are clean, cosy, The breakfast offer is quite big and good. However, the only negative point was the wifi that i could not receive from my room. All the rest was perfect!

    « Business Trip »

Arrived Monday 20th to a very confused reception. Had a car but he refused to let me use one of the two parking spaces allocated to the hotel in the garage. Requesting the size of the car (Hire Car Audi A3) then suggested I used the public parking 70m away and stated I would get the same discounted price. He later didn't know how to allocate the discount. I was travelling with 2 work colleagues and it took 1hr to check us in? Room was small, the king size bed selected for the price during booking turned out to be two singles pushed together?! The furniture and bedding reminded me of a retirement home that needed refurbishment. The room was road facing and it was impossible to get much sleep, waking to noisy traffic at 5am. When requesting a room change I was told that none were available and moving was not an option and that I should close my windows. Glad I hadn't thought of that!!!!! Breakfast was poor, cold, limited, refusing to top up scrambled egg supply and bacon was almost raw. Fruit was tinned but plentiful. Colleagues room was dirty and found discarded underwear from previous occupant by the bed? When complained to a different receptionist was put on to manager on the phone who refused to listen to any complaint, was rude and abusive and suggested we get a lawyer if we wanted any refund. Payment was taken for 3 nights during check in and for some reason (which we challenged) copies of front and back of credit cards were taken then left in open cupboard and the hotel reception is not attended between 9pm and 7am?! No reasonable excuse was given for this breach in security? Moved to NH Hotel, Wein and WOW! did we notice a difference in quality and customer service. Complaint raised through travel agency and we will indeed pass to our lawyers as advised. Don't stay here, its not worth it. So much choice in Vienna.

« Strange entrance, but great location »

Very strange entrance, hotel within a building over part of two floors of it. Arrived early and could leave cases. Bedroom and bathroom good size. Personnel opinion too much furniture in room. Bed must have been a queen, it was extremely comfortable. Breakfast included and that was fine, although very crapped as buffet style. Located a couple of minutes from main area so excellent location. Good price for location and breakfast included - would recommend.

    « Very happy »

The staff was very helpful, the room was quiet, the bed was great, the internet worked. The city, subway, and river were just outside the front door. The mall was not far from the hotel so anything forgotten or lost could be replaced.

« City Centre Hotel Vienna »

Great central city Hotel on 2 floors of a lovely old building --- very nice people! We had 2 rooms, one was perfect -- ours was small (a single but with a double bed in it) that was a shame! Breakfast was wonderful all you could ask for and served by a wonderful girl who worked so hard in the mornings. The position was great in the centre close to the railway, trams, busses etc .

    « Vienna Austria hospitality »

The hotel is so well located and breakfast is outstanding, also the room was comfortable, and the assistance so good. We met the owner very friendly and concern of our satisfaction. The security was also an extra piece of mind.

« Appalled at how treated »

I am appalled at the way I have been treated by Best Western and I pre-booked and paid for a room at this Best Western in Vienna. I was phoned mid-afternoon on the day of check-in, - well after check in time and while I was still in transit from London and was told that my hotel room had been cancelled. I phoned the hotel repeatedly to find out why and what i was expected to do and was told to go to the Best Western and I would be sent to another hotel "nearby", Eventually i spoke to Daniel <> whio said i was being moved to the "sister hotel" 2 streets away as there were birds in my room. I asked for the address to be sent to me to avoid time as I was going to arrive late and had a speech to prepare. He said he would in 5 minutes. After a half hour when i was about to board my flight i called them back. He said he was busy. The so called sister hotel was a lie. I was sent to a pension without a name visible from outside - no reception after 10 o'clock and certainly not the kind of place i would have booked myself into - 'Pension A und A'. It took a taxi a long time to find it as it is on a third floor of an unmarked building and 15 minutes away from where I had originally booked. In the morning I had a 20 miinute argument about payment as they insisted BW/ had not informed them of my pre-payment. I will travel to Vienna 8-10 times a year over the next 5 years. I am disgusted and feel like i have been badly ripped off and taken advantage of. I certainly wont use your service again and will do my best to avoid BW internationally. I have not had the time as yet to think about how i communicate my experience on social media but I am very angry.

    « Great location »

Booked at the last minute for an overnight stay. Very easy to get to. Great location. Easy to get to from the airport. Convenient, clean and pragmatic for the city. Free breakfast. Friendly staff. Worth it!

    « Great Location »

This hotel is very well located in the heart of Vienna within walking distance of lots of major attractions, shops and restaurants close by, bus station again within walking distance. Hotel itself is quirky compared to UK hotels ground floor has a central lift/elevator which takes you up to reception and to each floor with a spiral staircase circling it if you want to walk up/down. Rooms are comfortable, double bed is comfortable and pillows are comfortable (so what more do you need) Rooms have a chair and a desk, telephone, TV, shower and bath. Breakfast is European and has lots of different selections from bacon and scrambled eggs to cheeses and meats. Yogurts and cereal, fruit juices teas and coffee. Reception and staff are friendly and helpful, provided a map of where we were and where to go and visit. Room was available at 2pm and we were able to leave our cases with reception and go out and explore. UK visitors beware - everything in Austria closes on a Sunday even the local convenience stores so make sure to buy all drinks and snacks for exploring on the Sunday the day before. Food and drink in the area is good value and they have SPAR which sells decent larger for the equivalent of 0.80p a can. For the less fussy there is a large McDonald's within walking distance and a pizza restaurant two doors down from the hotel. I would recommend. Review posted by @_TravelChannel

« Nice Central Location in Vienna »

We "walked" into this hotel late at night (10pm) in hopes of getting a room as our Air BnB cancelled last minute. We had to buzz in and the clerk brought us upstairs to the hotel. Don't be fooled - the hotel is actually only a couple floors of the building. The clerk was very nice and gave us a room at a good rate (Room 11 near desk). The bed was comfortable, the room was spacious for Europe. The bathroom was a bit tight but had a nice shower. Clean room. We visited end of March when it was still someone cool. I imagine this room would be quite warm in the summer. Location is great. The hotel is close to metro, restaurants, bars and attractions. The breakfast is complementary and quite impressive - fish, meats, cheeses, breads, fruits, yogurts, eggs, multiple juices, etc. However, quite tight quarters. Try to get there early if possible. We enjoyed our stay the first night so we asked to book a second night if possible. This proved to be difficult as there is rarely someone at the front desk. Ring the bell all you want but you need to track a maid down to find someone for you. That was quite frustrating as well as a time waster. I was also surprised when the price jumped $50 the next day despite being during the week - "competitive rate that changes daily" apparently. Be aware of this and try to book all at once if possible when traveling. Also be sure to make sure they add your points - I had to call to get my BW points after we returned from our trip.

« Straight out of The Third Man! »

Just out of the main centre on the ringroad, this is a quirky little hotel, nothing like a run-of-the-mill chain hotel we thought it might be! I was half expecting Herbert Lom to stroll down the staircase or out of the typically central European lift.......atmospheric! Rooms again were not what you would call standard, but very individual. The toilet however must be the smallest I've ever had to use........reverse in only! Would stay again

« Average, noisy, hot and stuffy »

We emailed ahead after reading reviews and room tips and asked for a quiet high floor room and was given 8 which most People said to avoid! We didn't have much choice seeing as we arrived at 23.00hrs and the receptionist said she was waiting for us and wanted to close which I thought was rude. Room was hot stuffy and we couldn't leave the window open as the traffic noise was too loud so had to suffer a poor nights sleep. Also a selfish resident was smoking on a adjacent balcony which was wafting in! We were woken at 07.00 hrs as the breakfast room was right next to our room and I could hear every conversation and chairs banging against the wall. A group of American girls were extremely loud and had no regard for other residents and space around them. When we opened our door the food was right in front so feeling exhausted I asked reception why I was given this room when I clearly asked for a quiet room. I was told that they were full and as there was three of us they didn't have another room! So avoid having a room on the second floor which is where reception is and also room 8! Breakfast was ok, plenty to chose from, the hotel is quite a distance from the centre so put your walking shoes on! There is an Italian next door which is ok, the train station is quite a distance so we just booked a taxi with and cost £25, so well worth it and less hassle. We are travelling on to Bratislava and train would have been £45 and taxi €59 so again less hassle getting the taxi. However the next morning it was very quiet as the Americans had gone and were not woken up so guess we were unlucky! I would t say avoid this hotel but just be a bit more forceful about what room you want!

    « Great Family Stay! »

Our family of four had a really nice visit. Unseasonably warm weather led us to be so appreciative of the air conditioning. We also visited a great floating public pool on the Danube Canal. It was just around the corner. We all loved the breakfast, so much and so good. We'd go back for sure!

    « Highly recommended »

The room was nice and clean no view from the window Some of the staff were not so friendly and some very useful and nice Breakfast was large and luxurious Worth the price and I will definitely stay there again ..............................

    « Good experience. »

The hotel has old world charm. On entry I felt like it was a bit dated but I don't mind that. It has a great feeling to it. Our room was super. Large and quiet. No complaints at all. The location is great. The breakfast was the best! The manager ( Marcel) went out of his way to fix a glitch we have with our rewards points. He took care of it all. I would recommend it no problem. Be careful parking your car. They give tickets in Vienna like crazy. Especially if you can't read the language.

« Please avoid - scary hotel- worst staff : it reminds me Hostel the movie »

We were on business trip with few collegues in Vienne, and we booked and paid four rooms for 3 nights one month before. First Day we had to wait 15 minutes to enter the hotel Waiting for the receptionnist to open. The hotel is so old school that in those Cold winter nights its scary like an haunted house. The receptionist is rude and scary My first collegue to check in told me that He though the receptionnist was "entreprenant" and logically He got the room just in front of the reception. So He wanted to change with mine which was ok with me as but the receptionist didn't wanted saying if you disagree you walk away. Dispite it was pre paid they wanted us to pay again. The first night was really scary. At night the corridor was noisy and someone came scratch on My door. 2nd day after dinning outside we came back and our electronic keys were ont working. we called them, and wait 1/2 hour.My collegue being treated as He was stupid on the phone. When the Guy arrived He shouted on us, saying that My collegue is alcooholic and that we don't know how to open a door. He opened but didn't gave us any functional key. When we left they didn't give us the bill but took our credit card number, explaining the TPE wasn't working. So I hope I won't get any bad surprise when they willl invoice. Worst place to stay, avoid it

    « PLEASE READ ME !!!! »

I am on three days business trip at this hôtel: 1st night when i arrive the door man asks me to pay for my nights. I argued that i already paid for it - he callled me a lyer 2nd night after a business dîner as i get back to the hôtel at midnight - no one was at the réception & my hotel card did not Work. I call a number written on the entrance door (it was freezing outside)- the Guy on the phone told me that i was stupid and he will come. I ask when,? He told me to go shoot myself . After 20 minutes he arrived. He did not say hello or apologize but just said that i was smelling alcohol and asks for 20 euros to open my room. This hotel il very clean !!!! But avoid it as the management thinks that we are living in URSS!

    « Horrible Experience »

I have never seen a hotel with the entrance on the second floor of a building to go to the rooms that are on the third floor you have to go by the staircase , the hall is almost non-existent , in the morning turns into the breakfast room Breakfast was from 07:00 to 09:30 but at 08:00 there was not anymore bread.... The waiter does not speak English, room temperature cannot be adjust from local but you have to call the front desk , the sink in the bathroom is small and very uncomfortable to use, in the breakfast room near the window there was poison ants. the first day I arrived they did not have my reservation after a while they said that the room was under maintenance but it was obvious they was lying then have to transfer me to another hotel , the front desk employ was very rude and not very professional he wanted give to me 10 euros to pay the taxi to go in ' another hotel I do not understand why it is considered a four star hotel , in my opinion is just a 3 star hotel kept very bad

    « By no means a 4 star hotel »

We stayed at this hotel in Vienna ,booked thru Hotwire. It was sold as a 4 star hotel in the Stephansdom section. It is on the Ring, right next to the Danube, barely in the requested section. It is a very old property, accessed thru a non-descript multipurpose hallway. A very cluttered entry hall. Very small rooms, beds from last century. Breakfast maybe the best feature, but not great. We complained and were able to get a larger room, still small,,with antiquated bathroom, for an extra 25 euro per night. Not a single english or french language channel on the tv. Boxes in the narrow hallway to our room. Also too bad the candies we had left on the table dissappeared. I dont understand that Best Western puts its name on this hotel. I also dont understand Hotwire rating it a 4 star place. Try to avoid booking it

« The best hotel experience »

This lovely small hotel is absolutely wonderful! I don´t see any mistake....Service is great, rooms are wonderful, clean, comfortable and very elegant. Breakfast really rich. Check out at 12 - that´s also very helpfull.

    « Shopping weekend »

My favorite hotel, good location, by walk (around 15 minutes) from Kártner strasse. Hotel just few rooms, not really normal hotel, but 4 star small hotel, medium preis, clean small room.good breakfest, for sort stay i can recommed!staff correct

    « Dated--could use a facelift! »

First the good--Great location! Staff very friendly and helpful! Tiny room for 2 people-couldn't open suitcases in the room no space--television didn't work. Bed very uncomfortable--had a backache every day. Flipped the mattress but it didn't alleviate the problem. My friend made the reservation for this hotel--I would not stay here again.

« Good breakfast bad service »

Stayed three nights in this hotel with my wife. First night the lamps, shower head and air conditioner didn't work and the reception was less than helpful. After a discussion with the receptionist the next day about my "poor review", they upgraded us to a better room that was comfortable and with all services functioning. Location is good and breakfast buffet is plentifull and diverse. Need to work on the service quality.

« Okay for a night in Vienna »

I had to stay a night in Austria for a business meeting in Vienna. The hotel seemed to have fair prices and the location was not too bad. The room was average and a bit run down, but clean and okay for a night. I had to leave the hotel very early the next day due to an early flight and advised the reception the evening prior. The front desk staff told me, that breakfast would start at 07am and I informed, that I had to leave the hotel by that time latest. She mentioned, that she would arrange something. I came to reception the next morning 0630am and found a plate with a white roll, a slice of cheese and butter. No staff was to be found anywhere, except the kitchen helper, preparing the breakfast. As he noticed, I didn't eat, he offered me coffee and some plain yogurt. I booked a transfer to the airport via the hotel and paid the evening prior. In the morning, there was another couple from the hotel also going to the airport and joining the transfer with me. The driver gave each of us EURO 5, since we were sharing the car. I found that a rip off, considering that each of us had paid EURO 40 for the private transfer.

« Great hotel at a great location »

When my husband and I were searching for hotels in Vienna, his one condition was that the hotel must have air conditioning. This Best Western had AC, a breakfast buffet, and a great view. It's not far from all the sites and it's just a block away from a metro stop. It's also right on the canal so we took advantage and explored the other side of the city one morning. The breakfast buffet is adequate but nothing special. The staff is helpful and mainly stays out of the way. The hotel takes up a small section of the building which is used by other businesses. There are two elevators. The room was small but clean. Our only issue was that water from the shower sprayed all over the bathroom every time we used it because the barrier didn't do much. I highly recommend this hotel if you're in Vienna for 1-3 nights.

« Old fashioned, "nice" hotel »

Stayed 3 nights as a solo traveller. Location not ideal, but not too bad either. I enjoyed my stay without loving it. Room was large and spacious. Bathroom was large enough but strangely layed out. Decorated to feel old world was a nice touch, bed was comfy and couch also. Smoking balcony was very small with A/C unit and small table and chairs leaving litl room to move. Difficult to access through two sets of doors which only half opened. Also, was very hot with A/C running hot air from two sides. My room (#8) was right next to the dining room, and some eating noise could be heard in the morning. The street noise is obvious if the balcony doors are left open. Overall, my stay was pleasant without being anything special. For the price, probably did not live up to my expectations, so on that basis I would not stay here again.

« Average hotel, reduce your expectations »

Choosing this hotel we wanted a comfortable hotel, good value for the money. The hotel was good, but small things decreased its value. Location is good but not perfect: close to the cathedral, but half an hour from the Museum Quarter and Opera. The hotel is on the inner ring of Vienna, a busy place. The reception area is small and becomes unconfortable if more people arrive on the same time. The same for the breakfast area. The rooms are small but ok, but bathroom is too small. For the rest it was OK: helpfull stuff, good breakfast, clean rooms, nice furniture. Some more comfort was our wish...
