"Good central location"
Trevor S, 12 Octobre 2018

Although a dated hotel it has all the facilities that you would need. Good service, friendly staff and rooms are adequate. My room was above Johnson Street which was quite noisy but thankfully did quieten down by 10pm

"3C's: Clean, Comfortable & Conveniently located to downtown shopping and attractions!"
Dav_n_Sap, 02 Octobre 2018

This hotel was included in an overnight "clipper" package from Seattle. When planning this getaway, we thought the hotel would be somewhat far from the clipper dock, since we didn't have our car. We found out downtown Victoria is a small and very walkable area. From the hotel, we walked to waterfront, the parliament bldg., the museum, and zigzagged through the different streets for shopping. Chinatown is just a few blocks away also. Our double bed unit had a mini kitchenette in it. Great if you want to save a little and bring food. We didn't see any pots/pans/cooking utensils however.

"Surprisingly good choice"
TorontoDan, 01 Octobre 2018

We used TripAdvisor to find this hotel last minute and everything worked out perfectly. Room was a fair size and had a kitchenette which we weren't expecting. They were very accommodating in allowing us to store our bags after we checked out and the check-in and out process was prompt and courteous. A good choice for Victoria, well located and the rooms bigger than average.

"Another perspective"
islandrockin, 21 Septembre 2018

I reviewed the hotel last stay and I was very pleased with my room and location and staff Still the same great location and the staff were very pleasant The room quality of this stay was not as good renovations need to be complete with furnishings etc. We had a room with a queen and a king suite. The queen room was very small and dull The suite was bigger but needs upgrading IMO,ceiling looks as though there have been leaks or issues in the past Sleeping Pillows are way to big and uncomfortable There is another BW in the inner harbor to look at

"Excellent Location"
vitalcormier, 14 Septembre 2018

This hotel is very clean and the staff are courteous and helpful. The breakfast/lunch restaurant is very good. I would not suggest it if you are in a wheelchair as I am; however, if not it is an excellent location in the hart of downtown Victoria.

"BW Carlton Plaza Victoria BC"
davidhazell1961, 13 Septembre 2018

We arrived around noon and are room wasnt available. Front desk staff took our luggage and cell number and texted us once our room was ready a little before 3pm. Check in was quick. Room was fantastic. Corner room with windows on two sides. Room was large and spotlessly clean. Hotel is easy walk to harbour area. Public transit is 1 minute away. Many restaurants within 5 minute walk. At check out they stored our luggage till we had to leave Victoria. Highly recommend the BW Carlton Victoria.

"Not staying here again! "
Kootenaygirlz, 03 Septembre 2018

This hotel did have great front desk staff and the beds were comfortable. However... The first morning there was no hot water for our shower. The view was ridiculous (ugly brick wall lol) The room was not made up until we phoned after 6 pm. Self closing room doors don't close totally, so be extra careful to check on your way out. We had the anxious return to realize the door was ajar when coming back from our diner. Yikes!

"Great Stay and wonderful experience :-) :-) :-)"

"Awesome staff"
Lori H, 26 Août 2018

We had a king suite. It was large, comfortable, great bed and pillows, nice kitchen to have our breakfast. Staff was amazing. Went above and beyond to make sure you were satisfied. From check in, to parking to housekeeping staff. Fantastic, A huge shout out to Ross!

"One of the best in Victoria BC"
Swarna2010, 20 Août 2018

Stayed in Jul for the 1st time, must say its one of the best place to stay in Victoria. good location, everything is within walking distance. Check in was smooth and fast. Got a txt msg after check in to see everything ok...thats very unique! Sleep quality was very good. Hotel was well maintained and house keeping staffs were very nice. Highly recommended.

"Stay away from the restaurant"
treborrr, 19 Août 2018

Room was fine, not great. Bed was ok. Carpet was dirty. Shower head needs to be replaced. Had a bath mat so you didn't slip in the shower; that was nice. Sufficient room to spread out a little. Ate dinner in the restaurant on Sunday. Two of us got salmon which was overcooked, dried out and not hot. I got flank steak with loads of grease and grizzle but you didn't know it until you started chewing since the meat was covered in a sauce. The sauce was tasty but the mashed potatoes were the best thing on the plate and the only item served hot. If you eat here, don't eat on Sunday - the food could have been good if the bus boy (I assume the chef was not working) had cooked it properly, trimmed the meat and the waiter served it all hot.

"Best western is the best value in Victoria"
Heather M, 10 Août 2018

Pleasantly surprised by how great it was at this hotel. Everything was clean and nicely decorated. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Very centrally located to all the sights and shops. Offered us free water.

"Very Friendly Helpful Staff"
Lint T, 08 Août 2018

This hotel was great! Staff made sure we felt welcome. Nice beds, hotel doesn't stink and is very clean and professional. It was Very secure and also has valet parking which was helpful at such a busy time of year. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

"Very nice hotel 10 minutes walk from all downtown."
moondoggie52, 07 Août 2018

Check in and value were incredible. All staff extremely accommodating. Rooms are well appointed and clean. Very efficient. Bed was good. It has everything you will need. Very nice and entertaining 10 minute walk to downtown attractions, with lots of bars and restaurants to look at.

"Nice Hotel"
katrobin74, 07 Août 2018

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable. It was a suite which had a sitting area and a small kitchen. The hotel staff were also very helpful and attentive. It was in a good location in downtown Victoria close to restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.

"Wonderful Stay"
Jeannie R, 05 Août 2018

Beautiful hotel, conveniently located near downtown sites and the harbor. Rooms stellar, and hotel staff awesome and accommodating. Hotel staff exceeded expectations when they offered to keep our car and luggage for the day while we did a whale watch. Just one example of friendliness and courtesy. Great value for cost. We will be back!

"Comfortable rooms a bit off the water"
Anniefrodeman, 03 Août 2018

We spent one night at the Best Western. The beds were comfortable and it was quiet. The hotel was a little off the main tourist area of town but was a short walk to the water (probably 10 minutes). There was not a complementary breakfast, but the restaurant attached to the hotel had a great breakfast. We had hoped the hotel would have views of the ocean, but were otherwise comfortable here.

"They took care of us"
BrianRichardDawson, 01 Août 2018

Even though they were full, they upgraded us a room and left a wonderful gift for us because we mentioned it was our anniversary. The desk staff told us about great restaurants in the area and the stay exceeded our expectations! We will come back and tell others!

"Functional"
Mark N, 31 Juillet 2018

One night stay in this centrally located hotel. Lovely staff. Stayed in a double room with a friend. Plus: Clean. Good air conditioning. Comfie beds. Minus: Close quarters. Bathroom drainage problem. Expected more for amount paid.

"Very inviting!"
Isabel H, 31 Juillet 2018

The location of this hotel is perfect for walking to many highlights of Victoria. We cycled from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal to this hotel and were greeted with a bottle of cold water. How considerate! From checking in, getting help storing our bikes, asking for another pillow, we were given excellent and very friendly service. Our room was comfortable, clean and had everything we wanted and needed. We think Victoria hotels are expensive and we feel that we paid a lot for the type of room we were in.

"Excellent Hotel"
Haresh W, 31 Juillet 2018

The Best Western Carlton Plaza is conveniently located and id very close to down town of Victoria. It is walk able distance from some of the main attractions in Victoria. The rooms are fair size and with all amenities including refrigerator, Television etc. Clean linen and curtains. Toilet is not small, clean and with all toiletries. Hotel has a restaurant, fitness center and valet Parking. Staff is friendly and courteous.

"Excellent!"
eric00012014, 27 Juillet 2018

we stayed here for a couple of nights and the experience was much better than what i was expecting. the staff are friendly and great, the hotel provides you with everything you need with a simple request from the front desk. The location likewise is very good

"Great Stay"
Kerry V, 20 Juillet 2018

The hotel is in a great location in Victoria, close to the downtown area. The staff was very helpful. When booking the hotel online I forgot to add the addition members of our family. We were lucky, the hotel wasn't full so they upgraded us to a suite. They were very helpful on picking a place for meals also.

"Service Excellent"
ScottKim97, 18 Juillet 2018

Great downtown location and center of everything you need. Wonderful and helpful Staff available when you need them. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Two negative issues that are out of the Hotel's Control are: 1) Water pressure in the shower. For those who likes being in the water will find it is frustrated. 2) Valet Parking Stop in front of the Hotel is a Challenge. Because it locates on a busy street and intersection, you will find it is unsafe to get in and out of your vehicle. Over all it is a good hotel to stay. If they add the Complementary Breakfast would compensate for the two negative things as mentioned.

"Perfect hotel for Getting to know Victoria"
bryanvila2018, 17 Juillet 2018

Great service, comfortable rooms, and right in the heart of Victoria. This was a perfect anchor for our travels around the area. Breakfast at The Ruby restaurant there was absolutely fantastic—perfect way to start an active day!

"Last minute Booking"
Julie D, 15 Juillet 2018

We were playing it by ear and booked this per reading positive reviews on TripAdvisor. Wow! The price was great, walking distance to many restaurants, the harbor, Chinatown etc. the best part was the staff. So helpful and friendly! Gave us great recommendations of what to see and where to eat.

"Used Best Western points"
logger007, 05 Juillet 2018

I was shocked that Victoria hotel prices have skyrocketed. I thought I would try to use loyalty points because the hotels were unaffordable. When I contacted Marriott, all my points had expired. I was able to get two free nights at the Crown Plaza using Best Western points - score. I am now a very loyal BW customer. We were happy with the hotel - AC good, staff friendly and helpful, good location frequented by lots of tourists. Our room was not modern (we had a kitchen with older appliances) but it was comfortable. Overall, it was a good stay.

"Nice Room but Hotel lacked certain Facilities"
EKSKS21, 05 Juillet 2018

Well positioned Hotel making it very easy to get to Marina area and Government Buildings etc when sightseeing Large corner Room overlooking side street (on 2nd Floor) Not allowed to take own cases from our Coach Had to be brought to Bedroom by Hotel Staff No problems whatsoever with allocated Bedroom for our 2 night stay However many of the Group we were travelling with did not have such generous sized Rooms and did not like this particular Hotel, making a point of informing Tour Manager accompanying us Clean, well furnished and quite large Reception area with Cafe which opened for Breakfast 8.00 am As we had a trip departing 8.30 am there was insufficient time to be able to eat breakfast before having to leave to go on Trip we had arranged for specific day meaning several of the Group ventured out to find a Cafe open early enough to have some breakfast prior to full day out and about or others did without No Bar facilities but Catcus Club Cafe was close by as were several other Restaurants and Pubs A Hotel of this size should be able to have flexibility for Breakfast opening of Cafe 8.00 am is quite late - in my opinion Most of the other Hotels we stayed at during our Tour had Dining Room open from 6.30 am to enable Guests the choice of having breakfast if they wished to do so Would not put me off returning should I ever get to visit Victoria again in the future as easy access to wherever we needed to be was priority

"Canada Day in downtown Victoria!"
Leatherneck6693, 03 Juillet 2018

We were on a summer vacation trip with our granddaughters and wanted to introduce them to Victoria and didn't want to drive around the city so we wanted a downtown hotel. The rates were quite high, but it was a holiday weekend. The bed was a bit fidgety but the HVAC was excellent, the amenities were fine, and the staff was absolutely great - wonderful recommendations and suggestions and they assisted us by storied our gear after check out as we were taking an evening ferry and wanted to spend more time in the city. A pleasure.

"Friendly, helpful staff"
Tina S, 01 Juillet 2018

The staff are indeed friendly and helpful and treat you like you are special. The rooms are clean and neat. After our stay, I mentioned that I didn't like the pillow, and I was told that in the near future they will be offering a selection of pillows to accommodate different needs. They always try to please! And... this hotel location is great for doing downtown exploring!

"Location Location Location. Clean sensible hotel"
MENBBB, 27 Juin 2018

Great hotel in a prime area. Hotel seems in great shape considering the age and location. Upkeep has been good. Nice rooms. Clean and fine for a couple nights. Would recommend the Ruby for breakfast. It is joined to the hotel. If you are vegan or vegetarian there is a really nice Waffle House nearby as well.

"Good location in downtown Victoria"
Magdalene F, 19 Juin 2018

We stayed two nights over the Victoria Day long weekend. The location was great for watching the parade and walking around the town, checking out the scenery. This hotel did not have a pool or continental breakfast but there is a restaurant attached and other places within close walking distance. Overall, it was pretty good. We would go back again.

"There for a 3day convention in June 2018; totally enjoyed our stay"
JWDutchie, 18 Juin 2018

Location is awesome, central to many eateries, pubs, China Town etc. room was roomy & clean. The staff was exceptionally friendly & helpfull! Made our stay that much more enjoyable! The beds are very comfortable. The kitchenettes are very handy for when you want to just kick back & enjoy the room for a bit.

"great place and wonderful staff"
martingrafe8, 17 Juin 2018

Stayed at the Best Western Carlton Plaza Hotel. The staff there were extremely accommodating. I rented a 4 wheel mobility scooter because being an amputee of my right leg. When I needed it they took it out of their storage room by the front desk and switched me out from my wheelchair to the scooter. Via versa. Rooms were well taken care of. They were large enough to accommodate my wheelchair.

"Very good hotel, first class staff"
UpwithJones, 06 Juin 2018

Stayed here 3 nights in May 2018. We had a very nice corner room that we shared with our adult son. Have to mention Brandon at reception, he was really good, made recommendations for restaurants, whale watching and things to do. Also have to mention Cal who immediately solved a misunderstanding about bike rental. She made a decision on the spot without hesitation. To me this the sign of a well managed hotel where staff feel empowered to look after the customer.

"Victoria Hotel Stay - Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Hotel, Victoria, BRITISH COLUMBIA"
craigt319, 02 Juin 2018

We travel to Victoria often and always stay at the Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Hotel. The staff is wonderful, the location ideal for walking and taking in the sights and offerings of downtown Victoria. Cannot say enough how much we enjoy staying here. Looking forward to our next visit.

"No Breakfast, no shuttle"
Roger G, 02 Juin 2018

20 minute walk from harbor, No shuttle, no breakfast. No rewards points when booked through the Seattle Clipper. Could have selected other hotels when booking the Seattle Clipper excursion, but chose BW because of Elite BW status.

"Quite nice"
KPNEAustin, 30 Mai 2018

Clean ,reasonable ,situated in a handy part of Victoria. Walking distance to Chinatown and to downtown. Very friendly staff very helpful. A restaurant is attached but not part of the hotel. Plenty of places to eat in the near vicinity.

"Well run, well situated, clean rooms, attentive staff"
PhoebeTucker, 24 Mai 2018

We arrived well ahead of check-in time but were immediately given very nice rooms, complete with kitchenettes. The staff (especially Sasha) were totally professional and efficient. The rooms are very clean and in good condition. Absolutely nothing was amiss.

"Great location and staff!"
thomashQ1836FG, 21 Mai 2018

Easy walking to all of the downtown Victoria sights and shops/restaurants. Would not hesitate to stay in the BW Carlton Plaza on our next visit. The hotel restaurant offers breakfast and lunch and there are a myriad of dinner options in the immediate area.

"Great Stay!"
SisBoston, 21 Mai 2018

This hotel was booked for us as part of a Clipper ferry package. Since we did not choose it, we weren't sure exactly what to expect. It's located away from the harbor area, which makes it less convenient. But the hotel itself does a very nice job of providing for its customers. The room was a good size, with adequate horizontal storage spaces and outlets for electronics, and very clean. The bathroom is large, and the towels plump. The fridge was a welcome addition. There's a business center and gym (neither of which we used). The front desk staff was very nice at check-in and check-out; even nicer was that they had delivered our bags from the Clipper ferry bus directly into our room. There is only one elevator, so when the hotel is busy, you may wait awhile for it.

"Great Place to Stay"
Derek W, 18 Mai 2018

Great location/Easy walk to Downtown and City Harbour . Great Restaurants and Bars close buy. Rooms are great and Very comfortable. The staff are very professional and very knowledgeable of there city and surrounding areas.Great Value.

"Great Experience"
abillesberger, 11 Mai 2018

I stayed one night in May 2018 on business. I received a great reception, complimentary room upgrade and overall positive experience. Unlike some Best Western Plus hotels, this one does not have a complimentary breakfast as there is a restaurant in the hotel. Unfortunately, it is only open for breakfast and lunch. That being said, there are lots of great food options within walking distance. It is in a great location. I would recommend this hotel to others. There were no issues during my stay.

"Everything you could ask for!"
melacruiser, 08 Mai 2018

We stayed 3 nights in a king suite - it had everything - full kitchen including dishes and pots & pans! Though this is an older building with narrow hallways the air quality was fresh and clean. There was a pullout couch to accommodate more guests if needed. The front staff was very accommodating and pleasant. The location is perfect for walking everywhere in downtown Victoria. We enjoyed our stay.

"Pleasant"
waynespecht14, 06 Mai 2018

A quick one day visit for a family event. Hotel experience excellent mainly due to pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable staff. Nothing better than a warm smile after a long day travelling to make one feel welcome! Location perfect. Lobby pleasant, free paper, clean with good seating options.

"Lovely hotel, great location, great staff"
Sharon S, 02 Mai 2018

This hotel is conveniently located in central Victoria a few blocks from the downtown Tourist Information Center and the harbor. The staff is awesome and extremely helpful and their recommendations for restaurants were excellent. We were in a junior suite which offered us a sitting area and a small kitchen in addition to two double beds. Thus we were able to relax comfortably when we were in the room. We wanted to visit Butchart Gardens and were able to catch a public transit bus just a couple of blocks from the hotel. (Private transport is also available nearby.) There are drug stores, all sorts of shopping and plenty of restaurants nearby. In all a great location and the price is very reasonable. We really enjoyed our stay.

"Location. Location. Location."
todb242, 22 Avril 2018

As you can tell, this property is in a great location. Rooms are great but the suites are perfect. Seating area to entertain or watch TV as well as a little kitchenette. So if you are staying more then 2 days, you could take advantage of the kitchen. They have recently renovated the lobby area but it looking like an elegantly sparse chamber. I may have just been there before the furniture went in. The restaurant, The Ruby, is quaint and hipster at the same time. Serves a great breakfast. Always top notch even without traditional Egg Benedict. I have no issues recommending this place because I know you wont be disappointed. Tell them Tod sent you. Probably wont get you anything but ya never know.

"Loved it! Would love to stay again!"
Colin F, 21 Avril 2018

Loved the location, was within walking distance from the Save On Centre. Room was clean and spacious and the staff were great as well. Beds were extremely comfortable. Loved that we were able to text the front desk for anything that we needed including the valet service.

"Great hotel and location"
Bobby N, 09 Avril 2018

Professional staff who are extremely courteous and efficient. Completely pleased with our stay. Workout room was a little lacking, but not a detractor from the stellar accommodations. Great food within walking distance also.

"Great Location"
Mary M, 09 Avril 2018

The hotel is right in downtown Victoria within easy walking distance of Beacon Hill Park, the Provincial Museun, restaurants, shopping, etc. . Valet parking only but price is reasonable. We had a kitchenette in our room which we did not use but which would have been handy if we had stayed longer. Hotel is being remodeled. Decor in our room was a bit dated.

"Spring Break"
Chris K, 08 Avril 2018

Even though lobby was under construction, check in was smooth. Fun place in busy Victoria. Quiet, clean room. Because parking is limited, there is valet parking. The young driver even parked our old farm truck. ??

"Work weekend"
irenecZ9244DU, 01 Avril 2018

Excellent location and value priced valet parking. This hotel is just about completed its renovations and the rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The location is ideal for walking to all points in the downtown district. The restaurant opened too late for us to breakfast there, so we had to find other options.

"The Only Reason for a 4 instead of a 5 is - no pool or hot tub."
rocketman000, 29 Mars 2018

Older building. One elevator. Smaller rooms. Great Staff. Nice beds. Good WIFI. Good location. Coffee maker in room. Very quiet up on 5th floor # 524. Excellent room rates for downtown Victoria ! I think this is a really good pick. Also, on the 1st floor there is 2 ice machines, microwave and washer and dryers. I think the restaurant beside the hotel looked pretty interesting. Did not get the chance to try it . There is reno's going on in the lobby area right now. I think the location of the hotel is quite good. Close to a lot of things to do . I walked everywhere. I highly recommend a city tour while in Victoria.

"Good place in the downtown core"
LLHH, 28 Mars 2018

A hadn't stayed here before but thought I'd try something new in downtown. After circling the block twice as there was no parking out front I phoned the hotel. I was told they would get on top of it. Sure enough on my 3rd try, several of the cars were being moved. I think construction trucks may have been part of the issue. Camille was out front seeing to the cars as I pulled in. Very apologetic for the inconvenience. Both her and Brendan were very helpful and looking after the vehicle and getting me into the hotel. No parking but valet is well worth the $10 and i had my vehicle out in 10 minutes when I called. I like the text service for valet or any questions. I've never seen that before. Great staff throughout the hotel. Comfortable updated room. Older hotel but they've done updates. Interesting to see some of the original features retained. Suggest a back room to avoid traffic noise off Johnson street. A large fitness area with free weights. An attached restaurant but lots of places within an easy walk. Good experience.

"Good Hotel, Good Location"
YukonAl, 27 Mars 2018

The hotel is located in the center of Victoria so it is convenient to everything. It is a clean hotel with a friendly staff. There are interesting shops within walking distance of the hotel. The rooms are big and have a small fridge.

"Location and service"
MichaelRCad, 23 Mars 2018

We stay here frequently. Ideal downtown location. Friendly and helpful staff. Large and well-equipped fitness centre. Valet parking is extremely convenient. Just pull up and forget about your car. Rooms are quiet. Top floor rooms have sliding doors and decks to enjoy summer sunshine.

"Highly recommend this hotel"
soltmann8, 22 Mars 2018

The staff are tremendous, the rooms are always so clean, and the location is perfect. This is the only hotel I will stay at when I am in Victoria. Cal at the front desk is so professional, personable and helpful. Stay here! You won't regret it.

"Nice basic place to stay in old Victoria BC; great staff!"
brianjantzi, 08 Mars 2018

Lobby was under reconstruction so quite inconvenient. Initial room was cramped and lacked hanger space in the closet; our complimentary room upgrade was ideal and amentieis and space really made our teo week stay a joy. Room heatind systems were noisy and either too hot or too cold, and we needed to shut iff for skeeping. Room cleaning staff were so friendly and provided many kind orrsonal touches. Front desk staff were super! Ice room had a nice temporary office setup and washers and driers. Location in old Victoria was ideal for sight-seeing on foot.

"Perfect location, reasonable price."
Bev K, 05 Mars 2018

This hotel is perfectly located for adventuring around Victoria. Out on your walking shoes and wander the streets of Victoria. Lots if shops and places to eat near by. Can be a little noisy but if you use ear plugs or kerp on the fan you will be good to go.

"Fabulous location and great hotel"
Michelle V, 04 Mars 2018

Rooms are clean, nicely updated and very affordable. Everyone on staff is very friendly and accommodating, great customer service. Location is fantastic, close to everything downtown. The lobby is currently under renovations, looks like it will be beautiful when its done.

"Nice location to explore Victoria "
KKAustin, 01 Mars 2018

We stayed here last week while in Victoria. As many others have mentioned their lobby is currently being renovated but it looks like they are progressing fast. The rooms were clean and nice and having free water bottles is a nice touch. We had two minor issues during the stay. First, the door to the room was not well insulated around the frame. In fact. At night there was a lot of light shining through the cracks. Also, you could clearly hear people walking by. If we were staying longer it might have been a bigger deal. The other problem I had was getting ice. The one ice machine is located near a stair well and an elevator that closes after 10PM. This lead me on a short journey that includes climbing stairs and asking directions. Eventually I found it but maybe after renovations they can make it easier. Overall, this hotel is in a great location in the city and I'd consider staying here again.

"Perfect location!"
E_moRtal_1, 24 Février 2018

My wife had a 21" wheeled luggage and I had a backpack. Walking from the Victoria Clipper pier was only a bit challenged by the partial brick sidewalks. They were under construction at the time and still operating business. But the staff were all friendly and super helpful at every interaction. The water bottles were complimentary which made us HAPPY because we stayed well hydrated during our overnight stay. They're are surrounded by great restaurants and not far from Chinatown or the shops. I'd recommend trying Ruby's which is connected to their lobby. Amazing food is being served there on a limited time frame. The room had a king bed and the furniture was all intact. The air unit is a wall unit by the window and controlled on the wall. It worked with no flaws. There's a couple of windows but I don't think any rooms have balconies. The hallways were nice and looked newly renovated, I know it smelled like it. I'd rather smell that than some worn and torn dated carpet. Even the housekeeping staff were friendly. They gave us some water and didn't feel burdened when we stopped them from cleaning to ask. We would definitely stay here next time, so you know we would recommend it to anyone.

"Close to Down town Victoria"
George P, 19 Février 2018

Carleton Plaza Hotel is within walking distance to down town and local restaurants and bars. The hotel is fairly old but floor and our room have been refurbished recently. They were still renovating the lobby area but that was no problem. The room was fine - clean and new rug and wall coverings. Bathroom was good - although like older hotels is quite small. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking is by valet only - which might be a problem if one prefers to park or retrieve their own car. However, our car was always ready if we asked 15 or 20 minutes ahead. There is no dining room and there was no free breakfast. There is a breakfast and lunch dining room attached to the hotel. We had breakfast which was fine. The price of the hotel was reasonable.

"Great Staff, Even in the Face of Construction and a Fire Alarm"
Susan C, 18 Février 2018

We were very well treated which made what happened during our stay seem manageable. We were greeted quickly and efficiently, and in a friendly manner. The extra $10 a day for valet service was well worthwhile. To be honest, when we first walked in, we thought we'd made a mistake, because the lobby was undergoing major renovation. I realize it's low season and that therefore Feb. is as good a time as any to renovate. It was however, a little off-putting. Jennifer who was our first contact was efficient and professional, and we were treated to our room being on the VIP floor, 7. We're not sure what made our room VIP, but it was comfortable. When we got to the door, the key cards didn't work, so we had to return to the lobby. We were told that we shouldn't keep the cards by our phones - intimating it was our doing. We didn't have the cards anywhere near them. Anyway, once 1 of the four cards worked, we entered and could smell a faint “old hotel” odour. Regardless, we settled in and the staff texted us to ask how we were doing, which was a nice touch. It rained throughout our stay but that didn't stop us from rediscovering the city and whenever we asked for our car within a reasonable time, it was promptly available at the time requested. The room also had a microwave, a fridge with complementary water. This was convenient on the nights we decided to stay in. We shopped for a few groceries, and were able to store the food and warm it up. There were plates and cutlery provided as well. The Ruby - the restaurant by the lobby served up amazing breakfasts and the ambience was friendly and eclectic. One morning, the fire alarm went off around 7:20 or so and panicked guests sleepily hurried to the stairs. Suddenly being on the 7th floor didn't feel so VIP. By the time we reached the 3rd floor stairs, we were told it was a false alarm. Apparently one of the construction workers accidentally tripped up the alarm. I felt most sorry for the frightened elderly guests. If they were treated with the courtesy we were, I'm sure they too took the event in stride. Still, there were some other guests talking with us who were complaining that they would probably request that this inconvenience be reflected in their bill at the end of their stay. They said they were going to demand a reduction in price for their rooms. Although we entertained that, we also realize that it wasn't the staff's doing. We believed that the way they were going to handle what happened after would indeed be their responsibility. The front staff did apologize profusely, amid the hubbub of all the construction workers on the main level. We decided to go for breakfast at the Ruby while the alarm was still ringing well into our order. Bellies full, we decided to go back up to our room and properly get ready for the day. We saw that someone “fixed” the elevator, but it wasn't working at all. We walked through a maze of construction to get to the other elevator and took the stairs the rest of the way up. Thankfully, this happened on the day that we were unscheduled, and planned to take on some touristy adventures. It did set things off-kilter for the morning, but once we were out, the alarm and related shenanigans were quickly forgotten. Upon our return from the day, we were greeted to a clean room, a card and some macaroons. The card was genuinely apologetic in nature, and we appreciated the gesture. We bumped into Jennifer, in the lobby and she also expressed how sorry she was about what happened. Like I told her, it wasn't her fault. It was upsetting, but they handled it well. We left the next morning seamlessly and without incident, using their express checkout option; the car was ready, and we left for the airport. I suppose upon reflection, I would have liked to know that there was construction going on before we arrived at the hotel. We were given no notice of that, and we felt misled for not having the choice of where we would spend our hard-earned money. Would it have influenced whether or not we would have stayed at this hotel? Probably. From a bottom-line business standpoint, it's even a tenuous stance to take, given that their bread and butter is trust and customer satisfaction. On our end, lesson learned - we will contact any hotel at which we choose to stay, at least a week before our arrival, to ask if we need to be aware of any changes. Given the circumstances, it was generally a positive experience. I've included some pics of the restaurant.

"Nice place to stay"
Cynthia U, 14 Février 2018

We stayed 1 night. They are under Renos . The staff were very friendly and helpful. I received text messages welcoming me and asking how things were. The room was clean and cozy and quiet for a full hotel.

"Even with renos it was great"
BC K, 14 Février 2018

Room was already renovated. Lobby is being done. Room was nice. Great bed lights for reading. Room light was a bit dim though but okay. Every hotel needs night lights. None in our room. Fridge was quiet. I hate in room heaters that blow air and this one had it so I just shut it off and the night was okay temp wise even in February. Front desk clerk was excellent. Ruby restaurant was excellent except what's with this craze for drinks in jars? I thought that was long over.

"These Guys take Seriously Customer Service "
PAR1BC, 09 Février 2018

I have spent nights here before and it is a great hotel in Victorian but it's exceptional characteristic is how hard the staff try to be helpful and accommodating. They take it seriously! The boys by the bed and all over the hotel stresses their commitment and it SHOWS! The convenience and reasonable price for valet parking was great. They are going through some renovations to the front desk/lobby.

"Wonderful place to stay"
davidmT6715BE, 02 Février 2018

Good downtown location with valet parking. Older hotel with old fashioned hospitality, nicely appointed rooms, comfy beds and very clean! Nice Coffee pot and bottled water..fridge in room. Staff is very professional and pleasant. We had a noise problem and were quickly moved to another room..actually a suite. Jennifer the manager then brought us wine and chocolates along with another apology. Amazing!

"Great location!"
970deew, 13 Janvier 2018

You can't beat the location of this hotel. It's in the best shopping and eating area of the city. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Room plus - real cream for coffee, large size room plus a balcony, extra soap dispensers in bathrooms, cheap parking rate, good size hotel fridge, microwave, wall mount TV. Minus - bed was a full not a Queen as adverstised which led to a rough sleep with my hubby, room had a slight musty odor but I'm super sensitive to smell, no breakfast included (BW Plus?) - they have a restaurant on site. As a diamond elite member I wasn't offered points or snacks at check-in. I would stay here again.

"Favorite hotel for business stays in Victoria"
davidhI7847FP, 10 Janvier 2018

Excellent hotel and staff. Great central location. A real home away from home! I spend more than 150 days a year in hotels and this one is always excellent to stay in. The staff are very helpful and check in check outs very quick. The central location for restuarants/pubs are great. Excellent value for the money.

"The Best Christmas & New Years Stay at Best Western!"
craigt319, 05 Janvier 2018

We spent this past Christmas and New Years in Victoria and had the pleasure of staying, once again, at the Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Hotel on Johnson Street. It is close to all the downtown attractions, easy and interesting walking distances to the inner harbour. We love coming here; the rooms, the staff and the location; all at a price that does not break your wallet. We cannot say enough about the staff, their hospitality and desire to meet our needs is very evident, each and every time we stay here. Another bonus to staying at this BW is the awesome restaurant which is “in house”. The Ruby serves amazing food and is a huge bonus to staying here. Try it, you like it here!

"Great location"
Craig M, 05 Janvier 2018

Excellent location close to downtown, attractions, shops and dining. Dining part of hotel and many nearby attractions. Long stays available. Only small issue is no parking lot (must use valet) Rooms clean and suites have all amenities like fridge stove and microwave.

"Still a great place to stay in Victoria"
mktani, 03 Janvier 2018

I habe reviewed this hotel several times over the years I have visited Victoria and I have never been disappointed. The staff is always helpful and pleasant. They improved their soap dispensers. The attached restaurant has gotten better. They are improving the lobby. It is still the best deal in Victoria.

"Excellent, friendly staff!"
marileer2018, 03 Janvier 2018

We spent 4 day holiday in Victoria with family and stayed at this hotel. The staff were so wonderful and helpful everything was clean, even with a remodel going on (that didn't disturb at all!). We had a great time espite he rain and they were a big part of that!

"Great"
SlybellSosah, 02 Janvier 2018

We found dirt under the coach and red stains on the bedding sheets. The staff help immediately and moved us to alternate room and until they moved our family to different the next day. Thanks to the staffs

"Great Service/Excellent Hotel"
Patrick F, 01 Janvier 2018

We received excellent service from check-in to check-out! The entire staff to include the house cleaning crew were very pleasant and an enjoy to deal with. The rooms were nice and the beds very comfortable... I would definitely stay again! The only thing I would like to see is a continental breakfast included with the room rate.

"Great sex motel, $20 euros for an hour!"
BEATRIZS450, 31 Décembre 2017

in-Im a regular traveler for business and family. I go everywhere: USA, South America and Europe. Never ever in the last 10 years of traveling have I been charged for $20 euros because of being late for checking out. The problem is not the $20 euros, the problem is: - first time ever I got charged for an extra hour, is this a sex motel or what? - the front desk lady said she called and we didn't answer. Well obviously! If the phone doesn't work at room 703 how are we going to answer. Early in the morning I tried to call room at my in-laws at room 702 we couldn't! The phone doesn't ring! - inside that hour she didn't count the 15 minutes you have to wait for the elevator, where only 2 people fit. So 15 minutes going up and 15 minutes going down. Very nice ! Thank you for the 1 hour charge, a phone that doesn't work and 30 minutes waiting for elevator. Thank you ! Now you are a great sex motel.

"Great hotel in mid-downtown"
Joyce C, 28 Décembre 2017

This is a very nice hotel and has a lovely restaurant where we went for breakfast the next day. Some of our party were vegan so it was nice that there was items they could choose from while there was also traditional fare for the rest of us. The only thing that was a bit strange, and I am sure it was a security feature, was that our balcony had "fence" type of enclosure so I could not see over it to view the city. We were on the top floor, so perhaps this was something that was legally required of the hotel. Lots to do if stores had been open (we stayed over Christmas) and valet service was a nice touch.

"Love the BW Carlton"
L7578RXlynns, 28 Décembre 2017

Really enjoyed our stay here. Room was fabulous, a complete suite with full kitchen, sofa area, etc., even though we booked the room on Best Western points. Bed was very comfortable. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We stayed for only one night, but would definitely go back if we return to Victoria.

"Awesome place to stay!"
Corey H, 28 Décembre 2017

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The front desk staff was very accommodating and allowed us to check in a few hours early. There was a slow dripr from a soap dispenser in the bathtub that housekeeping took care of within the hour. All in all it was a fantastic experience and I will definitely be back again.

"Enjoyable stay!"
SusaninBelize, 26 Décembre 2017

We stayed 2 nights over Christmas at this hotel. We had a 2 queen bed standard room. The room was clean and quiet, and was larger then expected. The beds were very comfy, the room temperature was good and there was lots of hot water. The wifi was also good (and included in price). The room had good lighting, a small but functional desk, a keurig coffee maker and a bar fridge. The staff were attentive - we never had to wait in line for anyone to help us. The valet parking was efficient and convenient ($10 per day). I would stay here again. The only negative was the tile floor in the bathroom was ice cold - so the bathmat came in handy.

"Older Hotel with Small Rooms"
Glassman3300, 24 Décembre 2017

This is a well maintained hotel in an okay neighborhood. Only two blocks to a Starbucks. Rooms are very small, typical of an older hotel. Almost have to squeeze into the bathroom. The rooms are quiet which is a real plus. The free WIFI was good.

"Just ok"
Stephanie S, 17 Décembre 2017

I really expected more. Maybe it's just me, since this was my first time staying in a hotel in a major metropolitan area. First, know that you have to drop your car on the main road in front of the property and then they drive your car to a garage off-site somewhere. This is $10 per day. When you want your car you let the front desk know and they walk to get your car and bring it to you. This takes 10-15 min. Also, there was construction happening while we were there so they were down to only one elevator most of our trip. This elevator is one of the smallest I've ever been in. Though the second elevator was out of service, they were working on it the entire time which you can hear from your room... Every single time it was sent up or down. Every time. My room didn't have a microwave. I asked for one and was told to use the one in the Commons area on the first floor. Went to warm up leftovers for my kids and the microwave tripped the circuit breaker three times!! Each time i had to wait for maintenance to come back and turn it back on. They have two ice machines, an ATM and two vending machines all on the same wall. They didn't seem at all in a rush to help me find another way to heat our food. It wasn't until i insisted that i was led to an empty suite to use a microwave. This entire ordeal took about 20 minutes and never was the staff wanting to offer any thing for the inconveniences. At the very least they could've comped the parking. When we asked how to get to the work out area we had to be escorted to the second floor then down stairs to the first floor due to the second elevator being out and the first one doesn't take you to the first floor. A complete maze! And totally unrealistic for guests to navigate. Would not ever stay here again, the only benefit to this hotel is it's Central location to downtown

"Exceptional Customer Service"
marmotg, 16 Décembre 2017

The staff at this hotel are incredibly courteous, friendly and understanding of the unique circumstances of our visit. They willingly accommodated a late check out, as one of our party needed to rest as he had had an operation in Victoria. Considerately, the cleaning staff provided extra water in the fridge without being asked. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The hotel is centrally located, within a short walking distance of shopping and excellent restaurants. The restaurant attached to the hotel provides a delicious breakfast and lunch option.

"Great location, great staff"
rren2017, 15 Décembre 2017

We stayed 2 nights and it was perfect. It's walking distance to everything, restaurants, shops, museum, etc. Staff is really helpful. The street is noisy at night if your room is on the street side at a lower level.

"Excellent stay!"
Sandy W, 11 Décembre 2017

We stayed here as part of our Clipper vacation. The staff was very helpful with storing our bags both before and after checkout. The concierge made great recommendations for dinner. The rooms were roomy and the beds were very comfortable.

"Wonderful Experience"
annabelleramirez, 10 Décembre 2017

I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The room was very clean. The employees were amazing they all had great customer service. The location is wonderful close to shops and restaurants. The front desk agents recommended amazing local restaurants. Over all an Excellent experience.

"Amazing experience"
rlaura825, 10 Décembre 2017

I had an amazing stay here at the Best Western. The staff has great customer service and the room was very comfortable. They fit our accommodations for 5 people. Ruby's Restaurant next door had great food and wonderful service. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. It is well worth the price.

"Great place to stay!"
Sheila D, 10 Décembre 2017

This hotel had recently had some renovation. The staff was very professional and helpful. The room was wonderful. Due to the recent renovation, we were upgraded to a suite and it was very comfortable. The location is close to downtown.

"Excellent Property with Best location"
Gagan_Gupta_1975, 10 Décembre 2017

We stayed two night sin this hotel and we were lucky to get upgrade to the suite. The hotel is situated at a very good location . All the sightseeing places are walking distance from the hotel. They provide with free bicycles (no rental) for in house guests which is a good way to cover the sightseeing places. The rooms are spacious and clean. Over all the hotel is good , clean and friendly staff. The public transport is available at 2 minutes walking distance only from the hotel. The bus stop to Butchart gardens is 2 min away from the hotel.

"Great value, great location, large rooms!"
SnozWrap, 06 Décembre 2017

We stayed here November 13-15, 2017. We were very impressed! We booked a 2 Queen Bed Suite with a full kitchen. The price was very reasonable, and the location is perfect! It's right downtown and so central and walkable to everything. When we arrived with our rental car, it couldn't have been easier to check in. Parking is only $10/night, and it's valet parking. We needed only to pull up out front, and they took care of the rest. (REMEMBER to tip your valet!) We received a very enthusiastic greeting at the front desk, and we were up in our room in no time. The room was very large. The main room was a large living area with a couch (pull-out bed if needed) and an arm chair and large TV. There is also an full open kitchen with a small dining table. The first queen-sized bed is in the main room, adjacent to the living area (not in a separate room). So, if you were to use both the pull-out couch and that queen bed, it would all be in one open (very large) space. The second queen bed is in a separate bedroom, which allows for privacy. There is one full bathroom accessed from the main living space. We went to get ice at one point and noticed that in the room where the ice machine is, there are washers and dryers and vending machines as well. The decor in the rooms is basic—nothing fancy at all—but very clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Victoria!

"Good location"
Jay B, 03 Décembre 2017

Great location. Rooms a little small. But well appointed. We had a few requests and our needs were quickly met. They were extremely slow to clean our rooms but left us a nice apology card and a bottle of local red wine. Which was a nice touch. Everyone was very friendly. And they even have complimentary bikes to use

"Victoria, BC"
589bettyep, 03 Décembre 2017

We were treated by Cal who was most helpful explaining the rewards points. She knew excellent places for meals even though we got lost easily! The Tapas Bar on Trounce Alley had the best smoked chicken salad! We got an upgraded suite and the area was near to the Space Needle, Chihuley Museum and Monorail. The walk to Pike's Market was pleasurable.

"stay for surgery"
S5347ESrobinf, 02 Décembre 2017

The reason for going to Victoria was to have a surgical procedure done. I cannot comment on the comfort of the room because I wouldn't have been comfortable even if I was at home. The stay would have been better if the television was a smart TV. Staff was great and the hotel location is also great. It is situated in old town where there is good food and good shopping.

"Fantastic Hotel!"
Bill R, 02 Décembre 2017

This hotel is a gem in the heart of downtown Victoria, BC. Our room was a 2-bed suite with a fully stocked kitchen, lots of space, and very comfortable. There was a guest laundry room, but no pool or hot tub, and No free breakfast. Even on the sixth floor there was some street noise. Front desk staff was great! Our room was not ready when we arrived (late morning), so they stored our luggage while we went to lunch. When the room was ready they sent us a text message and even took our luggage to the room! The attached restaurant (Ruby's) is open for breakfast and lunch only, and it is wonderful I needed to exchange US $$ to Canadian $$ so we could do laundry. The front desk could not help me and I had to walk 1 mile to a currency exchange.

"Happy as always."
silverback40, 27 Novembre 2017

Another great stay. Location is great, with access to all amenities. And the hotel staff is excellent. From the valet parking, to them handing us umbrellas because it was raining out. I will always recommend staying at this hotel......!

"great hotel---restaurant disappointing"
mikegB6698XX, 23 Novembre 2017

excellent hotel but trust me eat elsewhere the restaurant experience big disappointment . breakfast was awful...trust hotel staff when they STRONGLY suggest alternatives !!! can make or break your hotel experience

"Great hotel"
X3876NXsues, 20 Novembre 2017

Right in the heart of downtown and the restaurant was the bomb! I'd go back! Staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. Close within walking distance of the museum, the Empress and great restaurants.

"Close to everything!!!"
SammyGirl1968, 19 Novembre 2017

Rooms were clean and comfortable. We were really close to lots of restaurants and shopping. Valet parking was cheap for downtown. No hot tub or pool and the elevators were quite slow, but overall good stay as we were here for a week

"Wonderful Stay"
Jeff H, 17 Novembre 2017

This hotel was quiet and well appointed. The staff was excellent in every way. We also enjoyed the restaurant for lunch. The location is in the heart of downtown. We walked everywhere we wanted to go on this trip. Overall and excellent stay.

"Great location - excellent service"
904lesleyb, 17 Novembre 2017

Great location in town for access to shops / restaurants on foot. Valet service super cheap in comparison with other hotels - so no need to look on the fringe of town to accommodate parking etc. Text service where the hotel regularly check in with you was awesome.

"Very accommodating and wonderful staff "
VisitorTZ, 12 Novembre 2017

Staff was cheerful and always helpful. There were some issues day 1 (bathtub had issues and loud noises due to being right by garbage truck at 6am). Staff were able to change us to a better room and checked in the next morning to make sure it was good. Cleaning staff were great and super fast. Beds were relatively comfy for a hotel room. Able to accommodate early check in and late departure.

"Easy come easy go"
Tracy W, 11 Novembre 2017

The stay overall was pleasant. Cal went out of her way to check out our lock on our door. Heating in an older building is always tricky. We had to leave the bathroom door open to keep that room warm. The valet was timely. My car was there when needed. I noticed there were bikes/helmets for use. The location was good. Restaurant and stores within walking.

"Great location downtown Victoria"
markpI117XR, 10 Novembre 2017

This is a central hotel in the downtown core of Victoria. There are many fun shops and stores near the hotel, which was helpful because I don't like driving everywhere once I get downtown. I highly recommend this location!

"Great location poor room"
jillyaVancouver, 09 Novembre 2017

Great location Professional friendly staff Super uncomfortable beds Noisy heater that did not produce heat but came on all night Thin walls did not use any of the amenities It is in a terrific location

"Best Western Carlton Plaza"
Carleen T, 08 Novembre 2017

Very courteous, professional, helpful staff; property was perfect location, as i had to travel to Esquimalt for my meeting; room was clean, well-stocked, no problems with tv or remote control or internet...oh, curious to understand why there isnt a "continental" breakfast availalbe? although, i would not have been able to use it this trip...

"High marks"
karinepoz, 08 Novembre 2017

The staff are very professional, courteous and helpful. The bed and pillows were the best I've had in years. Free bicycles with helmet was a super bonus! If the heating unit were quieter, all would be perfect.

"Great stay for nine days"
redlake4, 05 Novembre 2017

BW has a great deal for stays of a week or longer where you get a reduced rate and free upgrade to a suite with kitchen. Free valet parking, too. Great central location, nice suite and helpful staff. Will stay here again.

"We give them a second chance; they messed up big time..."
YYZ T, 01 Novembre 2017

After our stay earlier this year, and consequent review, the front desk manger asked we give them another chance on our next trip to Victoria. The fiasco began from our arrival Oct. 7th. Our travel to Victoria was long and we arrived, tried and wanted to get checked in and rest for a bit. We were the only guests to be checked in at this time. However, the front desk manger was having a private chit-chat with someone and completely ignored us. It wasn't until I interrupted her did she check us in. We were given the room type we requested, however, during the evening we realized the heating did not function. The next day I complained to front desk. A repairman was sent and it was agreed to move us to another room. No complaints with the other room. However, on the second afternoon guests accessed our room as the front desk reassigned the room. Fortunately we were not our for this incident. Then the phone rang and it was the front desk wanting to know who we were and what name was the room assigned. Apparently the front desk manger forgot to put my name on the room for which she supplied vouchers for breakfast at the restaurant. This wasn't nearly enough. Later that evening when we tried to access the elevator and room the access card had been deactivated due to their error. We later complained to the GM regarding all incidents and inconveniences. He was especially shocked at the issue of our room being reassigned to another guest. He later apologized and offered suitable compensation. We love Victoria, and will visit in the future, however, another chance may be questionable.

"Beautiful Hotel in Downtown Victoria"
kristinw720, 30 Octobre 2017

A lovely hotel, reasonably priced, top notch staff, comfortable and clean lodgings. The staff was highly attuned to providing a comfortable, friendly stay. The location, in the heart of downtown Victoria, was perfect for tourist activities and shopping. All in all, a fantastic hotel experience.

"good value, clean, excellent location downtown"
Richard A, 30 Octobre 2017

very good location downtown, near theaters, shopping, excellent restaurants nearby. Clean, comfortable beds, attractive lobby. Older hotel, refurbished and updated well. Good restaurant off hotel lobby

"Amazing service"
zaibp, 24 Octobre 2017

The service provided by staff and management is excellent. We had a slightly bumpy experience but it was handled in an exceptional manner leaving a smile on our faces. 100% recommend this, just to get an experience of their service. Have been to many places and never got such a service, loved it! I must say its one of the BEST Best Western. Kudos to management!

"Great hotel"
Karen B, 23 Octobre 2017

This hotel Is in a great location, walk to all major attractions, spotless throughout the hotel, very friendly helpful staff. We were automatically upgraded to a larger room included full kitchen. Would highly recommend, bus to ferry just outside the door.

"Great stay"
dianemK1492KH, 23 Octobre 2017

We stayed in a suite...it was clean and comfortable. Plus the downtown location made it convenient to shop and eat out. Also having the kitchenette provided an avenue to get take out and eat in during a very rainy evening. Staff was excellent. We had a problem with the smoke alarm and told the desk clerk, who alerted the maintenance employee, who took care of the problem. The biggest downside was not having quick access to our vehicle. It was valeted and took about 15-20 minutes to get the vehicle.

"Good location, friendly staff. Definitely would return."
poisonpen, 22 Octobre 2017

We requested a quiet room, and were told that the policy of no noise after 10p.m. is strictly enforced. Good start! The room, beds are comfortable, and the hotel accommodated us with packets of cocoa, not in the standard selection. We also received excellent recommendations where to eat and shop in the area. The hotel provided umbrellas, and eating utensils as well. They let us stay past checking out time in the room. We were very satisfied with our stay at the hotel. They really try hard!

"Best Western Plus?"
Derek B, 20 Octobre 2017

You pay more for the plus, yet this hotel didn't have onsite parking, I had to drive round the block 4 times until a drop off space was available, then you pay $10 to have valet parking off site, no breakfast included and no pool. The decor is lovely, one of the two elevators was not working. It's a plus because of the fancy decor but you get less for your money. I'll avoid the BW Plus in the future.

"Love the convenient location."
grandma12004, 13 Octobre 2017

Great location and the room was clean. Not fancy but the price was right for the convenience. A bit noisy in the early morning because of traffic. Valet parking is 10 dollars extra for each night stay.

"Our recent stay in this hotel"
X1650FRmichaell, 09 Octobre 2017

Hotel location is convenient, close to inner harbour and in downtown. We don't need to use our car to get around most of the time. Service provided by Front Desk was pleasant and very good. Our room was good value for we had to pay and house keeping staff did a good job. We will certainly consider staying here again next summer when we come to Victoria.

"Beautiful and Restful Hotel"
R7029DTbethb, 05 Octobre 2017

Having never been to Canada before, we didn't know what to expect with our hotel stay. I was very impressed with the size of the room, the sparkling cleanliness of the washroom, and location of this hotel. The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful and I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Victoria B.C.

"Can't say enough good things!"
JennyBee555, 04 Octobre 2017

I just returned from a four night stay with this Best Western, and the whole experience was fantastic! The hotel has recently been renovated, and was very clean and modernized. Staff checked in every day to ensure all was well. I mentioned at one point that we had been awoken by the nightclub below in the middle of the night, and they immediately offered to switch rooms for us. The next night was a Sunday night, so we weren't too concerned, and stayed put. They gave us two vouchers for a free breakfast or lunch instead, which really wasn't even necessary. If you choose to stay downtown, you can't avoid some street noise, we got that. But the bent over backwards to make "amends". Staff was always friendly, with a very "above and beyond" mentality. And location can't be beat obviously! So much, so close by. Thanks so much staff of the BW Carlton Plaza! We'll be back for sure! Jen B.

"Average hotel"
snowdrop67, 01 Octobre 2017

Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza is not in the best part of town, but away from the waterfront. It is close to China Town which is good for Chinese restaurants and a short walk from the tourist shops towards the quay. The bedrooms were clean and beds comfortable and bathrooms with adequate toiletries. Coffee was always available in the rooms. The bedroom cleaning lady was very pleasant as were the reception staff. We used the Ruby breakfast restaurant on our first morning but two eggs, three small strips of bacon, a plate full of potatoes with four thick pieces of toast, in my opinion was not value for money. I asked could I substitute one egg for a piece of tomato but was told it was not possible and would cost another three dollars. Tomato was on the menu. We didn't go back the following morning. Unfortunately our memory of Victoria on Vancouver Island, instead of being the pretty quayside and water taxis, is of the numerous beggars sleeping on the pavement and acosting visitors.

"Victoria get away for a fun filled weekend, that included going to the Butterfly garden and the Buchart gardens, thanks"
jameslV2828XZ, 30 Septembre 2017

We went to Victoria on the Clipper, walked to our hotel witch was a mile from the dock, beautiful city, we went to the Butterfly garden and the Buchart gardens, the Buchart gardens where VERY beautiful, we will be back for another vist

"Never stay here!!"
876hoteltraveler, 29 Septembre 2017

We stayed in room 703 during our stay. I will also point out we have stayed her about 2 to 3 times a year and the staff know us by name. House keeping missed cleaning our room twice during our visit and sadly the general manager Chris said “we are hard to please” I don't think this is the case when all we asked for is our room to be made up and clean towels! Front desk staff was great and friendly but this hotel needs help! Unfortunately the general manager will take this hotel down with his non caring non guest oriented manner. I can over look the noise of the elevator and such but not the rude argent general Manager Chris Watson!!

"Disappointed "
Shan886, 28 Septembre 2017

I was looking forward to staying here as I've been to many Bast Western Hotels in the Uk. I was in 201 which was next to the stairs. I used these because it was at the top of the first flight but when going down they smelt of urine. The room overlooked a roof with extractors and had a permanent hum. I moved from the bed nearest the window to try and get to sleep. The bed was comfortable and I have to say the shower was the best on my holiday.

"My only complaint is the big, soft pillows."
irisfrank86, 27 Septembre 2017

I need a more firm pillow. That's all haha ! I think having an option of a more firm pillow in the closet with the extra bedding would be a major bonus. Not everyone is cool with the soft pillows. Especially if you have back or neck problems.

"Location, location"
paulabZ4173FA, 22 Septembre 2017

Nice hotel but away from downtown attractions. Comfortable beds and good restaurant attached. No free breakfast or shuttle service. We would have preferred a more central location. Otherwise, it was good.

"Alright stay"
Sandra M, 20 Septembre 2017

We stayed there for six nights and the stay was fine. The room was nice and clean. The hotel is located in the city so there was some noice from the street. There is a fine gym at the hotel which offers the most common things. We paid for the parking so be aware of this if you are coming by car.

"Prime downtown location, cozy and comfortable"
Gardiner W, 13 Septembre 2017

This BW is probably the most centrally located hotel in Victoria..right down in the heart of the city. A slightly older property with smallish rooms (unless you are lucky to be upgraded as we were) but scrupulously clean, very helpful enthusiastic staff. The hotel offers valet parking for a slight additional charge but well worth it. The best location if you want to explore downtown Victoria by foot.

"Annoyed"
Irvin F, 13 Septembre 2017

long story short couldn't get deposit back customer service, I explained we were on the first boat to states and she said no the manager won't be in until 9:00, bang guess what no manager on the customer service at check out just gave me my deposit....instead of ruining entire trip i could have got it back earlier and could have only slept in hotel for 5 hours...but no

"Friendly"
Scott R, 12 Septembre 2017

We stayed in a Queen Suite. Very nice. View sucked but room was huge and had a kitchenette. I would recommend this to anyone staying in town. LOTS to do and see within walking distance. We found several shopping areas as well as food in the blocks around hotel. Staff was very helpful to show us where to eat where to hang out.

"Great Suites not on the 7th floor"
TheRichard26, 11 Septembre 2017

This was our second trip to the BW+ Carlton Plaza. We enjoyed the location and its proximity to great restaurants and event sites. We decided to upgrade our stay and pay for a suite for this stay. The 7th floor suites are clean and have a complete kitchen with full size refrigerator, 4 burner stove with oven and dishes and kitchen ware. The rest of the suite was simply appointed but had a few quirks. The most noticeable was the pillar in the middle of the living room in front of the TV making it difficult to watch unless everyone is grouped together on the sofa. The suite comes with a very large sundeck, however, there is a 16” to 18” (400 to 450 cm) step up from the main suite to the wooden deck. The bathroom was good size, clean but had a very short toilet, maybe all of 12 to 13” tall (310 to 330cm). Will we return to the Carlton Plaza again, yes, but will not stay in one of the 7th floor suites again.

"Tiny, but clean"
Melissa D, 11 Septembre 2017

The beds are not queen-sized, even though they say they are. The room, the bathroom, the beds are all very small. NYC small. One person to a bed if you're reserving a double queen room. You can't fit a family of four, with two small kids, comfortably in this room. It's too small for sleeping and luggage.

"Clean & comfortable"
Karen W, 05 Septembre 2017

We wanted a hotel in the heart of Victoria and always enjoy our stays with Best Western. The Carlton Plaza Hotel was in the heart of the City which we enjoyed. It is close to shopping and restaurants and the harbour. The hotel is older but kept in very good order. It was clean and ready upon our arrival. The bathroom was small but met our needs. The air conditioner was noisy but kept the room cool since we had extremely warm temperatures during our trip. Overall we found the room versus cost acceptable and we would stay here again.

"Clean hotel with great staff."
SanBC1, 04 Septembre 2017

The room itself was clean and well equipped. The only view was the roof of the next building, but it did mean it was a quiet room. We arrived quite early by seaplane and made our way from the harbour to the hotel to leave our bags before we went out sightseeing. Despite being only 9.30am, our room was ready and we were able to drop off our bags. Unfortunately, the air conditioning didn't work, but I contacted the desk and they sent someone up to fix it while we went out. I thought this was particularly good service. I would have preferred a location closer to the harbour. Also, at night, the area around the hotel felt a little 'sketchy'. I also didn't like how the stairs exited straight out into the street through what looked like a fire door. The staff were great, friendly and answered any questions. However, I probably wouldn't choose to stay here again as I would prefer to be closer to the harbour. I thought. for what you got, that the room was quite expensive, but this might be because we booked it just a few days before and didn't have a lot of choice, plus, it was August.

"Best Western Carlton Victoria"
Rick R, 04 Septembre 2017

Great location in downtown and easy walk to Government Street and Inner Harbour and all restaurants. Hotel is very nice and staff is extra attentive to making sure your visit is perfect. We used the free bicycles and enjoyed a 3 hour ride. This is a terrific benefit.

"Clean, renovated, walking distance to tourist area"
jaymoldil, 27 Août 2017

Stayed here on Aeroplan miles. We upgraded to a suite for 2 adults and 3 children. The valet parking was handy and quick. Front desk staff was eager to provide recommendations and any information we needed. We walked to all the tourist destinations within the inner harbour and downtown area from this hotel. It was quiet and comfortable, though the beds left something to be desired. My husband forgot his wallet in the room after we checked out. He texted back to the front desk staff (who had texted us upon our arrival in our room to make sure everything was great) and they met him out on the street with his wallet. It's the staff that really makes this place as great as it is.

"Very nice"
deniserY7474FF, 24 Août 2017

Traveled to Victoria on motorcycles. The hotel was very nice... elegant. Very surprised from best westerns in the past, pleasantly surprised. We were upgraded to a larger roomier suite, also pleasantly surprised. Probably because the parking situation was not the most optimal for our motorcycles. The Garage was located down the block and folks with cars would be vallied but not for motorcycles. We would have to ride the cycles ourselves and have to call upon the vale attendant to make sure the garage attendant (not aBW staff member)would be there to open the gate. Inconvenient to say the least and the garage attendant was not very happy to accommodate. Not very motorcycle friendly. BW has done what can do to make this situation work.

"great quality"
160enriquetam, 24 Août 2017

this hotel offered great quality for the price we paid. It is only a few blocks from the BC Museum and port. The walking was fun as we stopped at many shops along the way. The staff was very courteous and helpful.

"Wonderful Stay"
JIM W, 23 Août 2017

Hotel was located in the core of the city within walking distance to the ferries and shops. Staff was professional and wanted to make sure our stay was comfortable. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Excellent Hotel"
W1400ISannh, 22 Août 2017

A really great hotel to stay at in central Victoria, the rates are very competitive and the service is awesome. Staff are very knowledgeable and go out of their way to help visitors and business users alike.

"Clean and excellent service"
Michele W, 21 Août 2017

We had a fast, easy, friendly check in. The room was older but very clean with nice amenities - fridge, good coffee, even earplugs in case the downtown location was too loud (it wasn't) . Excellent location close to everything downtown. Excellent staff all around.

"Comfortable Hotel, Great Location to Inner Harbour"
deborahcK9277IG, 15 Août 2017

We always stay at the Carlton BW in Victoria, BC. Great location near Chinatown and minutes from Inner Harbour. Beds are very comfortable, quiet rooms, nice restaurant next door. Staff is always very accommodating. Great value for the money.

"Not the best."
antlersquorn, 11 Août 2017

We thought that we were going to stay in a much nicer place than we got for the money. Our suite was okay but nothing more. The bath was grimy to say the least. I don't mind the odd lights but there were a fair few going on in room 209 which also looked out onto a generator. The staff were friendly and the broken air con was fixed as soon as we told them it was broken. We waited for the lift but it was full so we ended up taking what can only be described as a dingy fire escape.

"Very Comfy Room and Well Appointed"
karen2015454, 11 Août 2017

We travelled to Seattle with friends July 13-24. My husband and I decided to take a 3-day trip through Clipper Vacations (fantastic company) and went by ferry up to Victoria, stayed one night, and on up to Vancouver. This Best Western was one of the hotel choices when booking this trip. Our room was ready 3 hours before check-in. Staff was very friendly. Even got texts from staff to see how we liked the room so far and if it was to our satisfaction. The room had a full kitchen (which we hadn't expected), couch/TV area, and very comfortable bed. Our alarm clock wasn't working, called front desk, and they were there with another one within minutes. Hotel was withing walking distance to major hub-bub street with many shops and restaurants. It was about 7 blocks (walking distance) to the bus station, which we walked to following morning for next leg of our trip. Would have been nice if it would have had a pool/hot tub to relax in after all our walking. But, I would definitely recommend it. Very quick check-out in the a.m.

"Great service great location"
Christopher S, 11 Août 2017

Hotel staff went over and above to make the stay as pleasant as possible. Great location in downtown Victoria. Rooms were real clean and good size. Free bike rentals. Restaurant attached. Good breakfast.

"Visit August 2017"
Js L, 10 Août 2017

Reception staff over friendly and chirpy - prepaid 5 nights but request for credit card annoying as was request for a studio extra charge when email request was free as I was a previous client - room 207 was an interesting view of a generator!! - room was not serviced on Mon 07082017 but after complaint was dealt with - no apology

"Stay of 5 nights - August 2017"
Js L, 10 Août 2017

Good location - facilities above average - room 2017 although a suite has 2 windows with view of generator and cooling plant - room itself good - plenty room - not worth any additional upgrade charge - used this hotel on several occasions yet never before had a request for a credit card when paid in advance via booking agent - room a little dated although reception area modern perhaps staff on desk a little over friendly and chirpy - happy to stay again on my many visits to Canada

"Dated Rooms, Old TV, Slow Internet, Noisy elevators"
Nicholas M, 09 Août 2017

Could only stay one night at this hotel, They stuck us next to the elevator which was very loud. Beds were hard, Pillows were flat. TV was old and didnt have any modern features (Like a tv guide), Room and decor were very dated. Internet was slow or did not work.

"Comfortable place to stay"
Elaine S, 02 Août 2017

The Best Western Plus Carton Plaza Hotel, booked through Victoria Clipper, proved to be a fine place to stay for us. It was within easy walking distance of the main attractions downtown and near some good places to eat. It is quiet, clean, and modern, and the staff we dealt with were very pleasant and efficient.

"I really enjoyed my stay here"
Jasneet U, 30 Juillet 2017

The location of this place in Victoria was great! Very close to everything. The staff were extremely friendly and provided lots of directions and recommendations for things to check out. The room was spacious and clean. Hotel staff were all very attentive. Would recommend!

"Great Hotel"
Patrick B, 28 Juillet 2017

Recently we stayed 4 nights at the Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza in downtown Victoria. Once we arrived at the hotel by car there was an area in front of the hotel where we could stop our car for the valet to park. Valet service was $20 per day with unlimited in and out which was great. The building is quite old so there is no actual parking on site, the valet parks the car about a block away in a secured parking lot so if you need your car you can always call down to the desk and in about 10 minutes your car will be ready. We appreciated how quickly they would have our car ready for us. There was even one day where I needed to get something from my car so they took me there immediately. Once we got to our hotel room we first noticed it was rather small for a room with a king size bed but I guess for a downtown location you have to expect rooms to be a bit smaller. The room itself was clean, the sheets were clean and there were no odors in the room. The bathroom was a bit of a disappointment however. The sink was outside of the bathroom which makes it awkward especially if one person wakes up earlier than another person. You can't really turn on the lights to brush your teeth unless you want to wake the other person up. The toilet was the part of the bathroom I disliked the most. It was tiny. I'm a skinny person but sitting on that toilet made me fill the whole seat and the sides of the seat. Having said this, the toilet it self was clean it just wasn't comfortable. Going into the shower, the shower head was very low so being 6 feet tall I had to crouch to wash my hair. Other than that, it was no big deal. The shampoo/body wash and conditioner comes in squeeze containers which are attached to the wall. It's very environmental and the products smell quite nice. The only downside to the shower was the wall. I feel the hotel really needs to do a better job at cleaning the walls. The grout should not have black marks in it and the tile had a bit of gunk building up on it at the top. Tile is smooth and is not difficult to clean, so if there is gunk building up they are not doing a good job at cleaning the walls. I expected Best Western to have higher standards in this area. As far as sound in the room goes, we were situated at the back of the hotel so we didn't hear much street noise at all. We did hear the stupid seagulls though. This is no fault of the hotel, but who knew there were so many seagulls in downtown Victoria. It's crazy! Overall we had a pleasant stay at this hotel, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They would greet us in the elevator, ask us how our day went and were always willing to answer questions. We slept well at the hotel and enjoyed our stay, but the slightly dirty bathroom walls put a bit of a damper on an otherwise great hotel. I really hope management makes a better effort to make sure it's cleaner going forward. Also the next time a bathroom reno is done, please please please put in larger toilets. I'm giving the hotel 4 stars because of the excellent staff, clean linen and bedding, convenient location, very comfortable bed and pillows, but I am knocking off 1 star for the bathroom walls and small toilet. Thank you Best Western.

"Older but comfortable"
corwincz, 28 Juillet 2017

This is very near some great breakfast places. I do not recommend the breakfast in the hotel. An easy walk to the waterfront and ChinaTown. Ask for a non West side room, because there is a lot of music outside of the hotel late at night. Otherwise great services. Bikes are available for three hours at a time.

"Exceptional Stay!"
Rosa R, 28 Juillet 2017

Location was great, in walking distance to the harbour, downtown sites and mall! Customer service can't be beat, Brandon, Ross, Cal and Camille we so helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend the Best Western!

"Great location but poor customer service "
YYZ T, 27 Juillet 2017

We booked a double queen suite in Jan 2017 for 5 nights. We arrived on July 22nd and was checked in quickly by the front desk rep. Our room was 503 with no view. The room faces the back of the hotel and overlooks an ugly back alleyway and roof with lots of seagulls poop; very gross. The room had a kitchen area with full size stove, refrigerator and microwave. A limited amount of dishes, cutlery and pots were available. A small dining table and 3 chairs were handy for eating in. Keurig coffee machine with supplies. A separate bedroom with queen bed and small wall flat screen TV. The other queen bed was in the living area with a larger flat screen TV, desk, sofa bed, coffee table, and chair. Housekeeping did a lousy job each day Observations: - Bed linens were not changed after 3rd day - Only one tiny body lotion was left even after I insisted we needed 2 daily - Coffee/tea & water supplies were either not replenished or some items were and some were not provided - Bath tub, sink & toilet were not cleaned - Although we complaint to the front desk the terrible service continued - Front desk was either editing our complaints and not passing along our displeasure with tardy cleaning service to the manager or housekeeping supervisor - Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel was from a dispenser in bath instead of hotel individual bottles On 4th day I went to the front desk and asked to speak to the housekeeping supervisor. The girl at the front desk was reluctant to grant my request and only after I asserted myself then she complied. I think I spoke to someone by the name Naomi. She was not aware of many of our issues as we suspect front desk staff was not passing on our complaints. I relayed our disappointment with the service and Naomi apologized and give us the usual "I will look into this". We relayed our dismay at this Best Western property and the lack of standardized service. Later that afternoon someone knocked at our door. She brought a box of Purdy's chocolates but never said whom she was until I asked her name. She said her name was Hayley the front office manager. We aren't sure why it took a several complaints before the manager got involved and why front desk did not involve the manager right away. The events left us feeling unsettled and most likely won't spend our money here in the future.

We checked in before 3 Jen was so accomadating got us in early not matter what we asked the employees made it happen valet was exceptional truly thought the room was the greatest so clean and comfortable I will be back and will tell all my friends

"Excellent stay"
H6307PIpaulas, 24 Juillet 2017

A remarkable hotel to stay at!! Hotel stay were friendly and helpful. Valet service was fast and convenient. Very, very clean and comfortable. Our room on the seventh floor was amazing....had all the amenities and more to make our stay more comfortable, very spacious, clean and had a big balcony!! Location was ideal for getting around downtown Victoria. Everything was in walking distance. Would definitely stay there again and recommend others to stay there!!

"Excellent hotel"
Kara S, 20 Juillet 2017

We stopped here on our way home and we're very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The room was very clean, the king bed had lovely bedding, and the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The kids loved the pool and the slide. I would highly recommend this hotel.

"Short Business Trip"
gabrielpR1302GH, 17 Juillet 2017

Great for business trip. No frills hotel, knows their business and executes well. Centrally located, everything is within walking distance in downtown core. Not a bad place at all. Has on site restaurant but didn't try it yet so unable to comment at this time.

"Friendly and comfortable. "
Patsy F, 14 Juillet 2017

The staff are so helpful and made sure we had everything provided in our kitchenette room to make our stay comfortable. They even went out to purchase a few items that first day to make sure our stay was personalized to our needs towards the use of our kitchen. Staff checked on us daily, through text, to make sure we had the best experience and that we were being looked after. Our 4 vacations days in Victoria were most pleasant from our stay at Best Western. Could not have chosen a better place. Room size was perfect for 2 adults and 3 children. The location perfect to walk to all our destinations and to find much to do in Victoria. We will chose this hotel again when we stay in Victoria.

"perfect location"
ruisdaelv, 11 Juillet 2017

The hotel is in a great location. I didn't experience any noise issues like I previously read before booking my stay. I got the clipper package so it was a good deal. However, the hotel cleanliness was questionable and the staff took a great time to clean the rooms. There was mold in he shower and dust rolling on the floor. Customer service was great!

"Victoria Getaway"
Regina V, 11 Juillet 2017

Perfect mid city location close to great food, shopping and walking distance to harbor & all sights. Took the Clipper from Seattle - an excellent route to Victoria! Highly recommend the suite if you like to breakfast in or tapas at happy hour - go to Hudson Bay for take out pies, curry dishes , olive oils, meats & chocolates from around the world, too!

"Great staff, Clean and well located"
greg c, 11 Juillet 2017

The staff were well dressed, helpful and approachable. The facilities were well maintained and the room was perfect for our stay. Located within a short walk to all the local activities including China Town. Thanks to the management for really making this an enjoyable stay with no issues or concerns.

"Great location and fabulous staff"
Bradley B, 10 Juillet 2017

This hotel is located right downtown Victoria and is within walking distance of the harbour and fabulous restaurants. Parking your car is no problem as they offer exclusive valet parking and are available 24/7. Staff is knowledgeable about places to eat and see. Hotel offers regular rooms and suites with full kitchen facilities. Staff and management are willing to do anything to make the stay as comfortable as possible. The restaurant attached (London Tube) is a great place for any meal.

"Nice location in the heart of town"
Rich L, 06 Juillet 2017

Pretty friendly staff and the room was nice and comfortable. The place was clean and has a Keurig machine in your room so you can have a decent cup of coffee in the morning. The hotel is in a very good location but does not have it's own parking lot and every thing is a valet service. It's ok but it's also a bit of a pain in case to left something in the car. WiFi was decent and you can get some work done without much pain.

"In the Top 5 BW Plus locations worldwide"
BNMe2014, 05 Juillet 2017

My wife and have traveled extensively for work for several years. We have topped out in 3-5 chains regularly, so reviewing a hotel is almost a natural mental exercise - but had to pen this one. Short version: Professional, courteous, friendly, expeditious staff Modern, clean, comfortable rooms Excellent hotel communications options, 21st Century Comfortable beds/pillows and comforters Bottled water in room, but ice cold tap water is quite tasty, preferred personally. Quiet.. no nonsense at bedtime Everything a business or leisure traveler could want at good prices. Highly recommend!

"In the heart of victoria"
roxannem963, 05 Juillet 2017

Always friendly staff very helpful. The hotel is right in the downtown area of Victoria. So easy to get everywhere. The rooms are nice and big. Clean and quiet. The cleaning staff are also very friendly and helpful. We stay here whenever we are in Victoria

"Very pleased"
dfzabala, 05 Juillet 2017

We just came back for a short trip to Canada. Stayed at the Best Western Plus Carlton in Victoria for a couple of nights. We had a very pleasant stay, from the staff members to the location of the hotel... we could not ask for more.

"country mice in the big city"
216haroldm, 05 Juillet 2017

Upon check-in, we were told of a complimentary up-grade in our room. Very nice suite. Helpful front desk staff. We live in a rural area and are used to dark and peaceful sleeping, only frogs, birds and cows so we came equipped with eye masks and ear plugs. These were not necessary as the curtains and insulating windows were amazingly efficient. Waffle b'fast was great. Location was convenient to show our visiting relatives the sights of Victoria in its full summer splendour..

"Better than Las Vegas"
lonnitas2017, 29 Juin 2017

We were pleasantly surprised with the complete kitchenette! there was a full sized refrigerator and stove, toaster, microwave, etc.Overall, the suite surpassed any we have experienced in Las Vegas such as the Bellagio, Wynn, Aria, etc., or on this trip of 15 days.

"great downtown location"
mollymelanie, 28 Juin 2017

We stayed here for 2 nights on a family vacation. Our party consisted of my husband and I, and 2 teenage boys. We booked a family suite. The price was awesome, and we feel like we got a quality product! The location is great, we could walk to almost everything we wanted to do and see in Victoria. There is no on site parking, so they offer valet service. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean, and consisted of a bedroom with a comfy queen bed, and a large main room with another queen, a sitting area with a pullout sofa, and a kitchen. would have loved an extra bathroom, but we got on fine with the one. No complaints.

"No hot water"
corilynng, 24 Juin 2017

The hotel did not have any hot water for bathing. The staff did not offer solutions the problem and did not appear empowered to make customer satisfaction solutions. I would recommend in the future that staff be empowered to extend the stay gratis for the guests until solution is found. Or reimburse clients for the day of the inconvenience. Bathing is an important amenity.

"Good location and kind staff"
459sangminc, 22 Juin 2017

Location is quite nice. Staffs are perfect. The price to quality ratio is over average. Need to improve parking service and air conditiong. Not enough elevator to cover whole customes. Available to borrow bicycle to trip around hotel.

"decent location"
B7288CFjohnr, 22 Juin 2017

The best thing about this hotel is that it's smack in the middle of downtown so walking distance not everything. The rooms were in need of renovation and some better appointments. there is no lounge to have a glass with friends. the service was great and the restaurant next to it are excellent - but close at 3 pm. The fitness centre is good. the rooms not he road side are super noisy and the rooms on the other have a view of yucky roof tops and bird poop.probably won't stay there again. not worth the price.

"A pleasant stay but missing a few key points"
efly, 18 Juin 2017

I will say that this is the fourth stay at this hotel and all have been satisfactory. Sometimes though satisfactory is not enough and for the first time myself and the individuals that travel as part of our returning group may be looking for alternatives for our next visit. I want to stress there is nothing particularly wrong with the hotel. I generally stay in their kitchen equipped units and find that the room is clean, maintained appropriately and that the staff is exceedingly helpful with everything from restaurant recommendations to directions to their valet service. Unfortunately at the time of my last stay I was distressed to find out that the restaurant located in the lobby was no longer open in the evening to share a cocktail with the others in our group. In addition the exercise room was small, under stocked with working equipment and felt somewhat isolated and insecure. I will be the first to admit these are two relatively minor issues and in the case of the exercise room appeared may have been temporary. At the end of the day it will come down to what is more important for our group. The need to socialize after a long day at the "office" versus the comfort we have developed with this property. In terms of the property itself the location could not be better. It is located essentially near the entrance to the downtown core. It is within easy walking distance to the harbour, the Empress, the many restaurants of downtown, the arena, China Town and the Harbour Airport. The ease of getting to and from the location by car is a tremendous benefit of the hotel. Although parking is not provided onsite the valet service is prompt and professional and open to meeting any time lines you have in regards to your car. There are two groceries within easy walking distance. A local market is one block east and a major chain is located three block east and two block south (ten minutes walk). The larger location retails prepared meal options for those wishing to avoid the cost and time requirements of using restaurants. A useful hotel service is the bikes they have available for guest that wish to explore the city by this mode. If you wish to take on a more serious adventure (bike or otherwise) MEC is located around the corner from the hotel and it can assist you with all your needs. Will I be staying a fifth time at this hotel. That is difficult to say. If I pick some other hotel in Victoria it will not be because of something the Best Western was not doing to make my stay pleasant, safe and comfortable. It is simply a need to have a place to kick back and socialize onsite during the post dinner hours.

"Best Westerm Carlton Plaza Victoria Downtowm"
miriammD5185AS, 18 Juin 2017

Very conveniently located. Friendly staff. Rooms & hotel facility in need of a face lift - a little run down. Needed to ask for a couple of lamps for better lighting in my room. As a whole I enjoyed my stay at this hotel in Victoria

"Clean hotel, friendly staff"
lisahB376WT, 16 Juin 2017

This hotel was in downtown and within easy walking distance to shops and inner harbor. The room was kept clean and appeared updated recently. The staff was helpful and friendly. This hotel offers text messaging for communicating with the front desk. A very handy and progressive feature.

"Nice Place to Stay"
davidsI2625SP, 15 Juin 2017

We appreciate the medical rate while in Victoria for medical reasons. Rook was clean and staff are always very pleasant and helpful. Also, the location is good for access to restaurants and pubs downtown.

"Delightful surprise"
sherrim41, 14 Juin 2017

Staff were exceedingly helpful and informative. Room was very clean and had stove, mini fridge and items for cooking. Valet parking was a breeze. Amenities like being asked on departure if I would like a bottle of water, Eco conscious soap/shampoo dispenser in shower, seeing I was bringing in a bottle of wine and offering to bring a proper wine glass to the room, bicycles to use ... quite a pleasant a delightful surprise beyond what I expected from a Best Western. Location is fabulous for walking around downtown Victoria.

"Great hotel, nice location, smallish room "
familytravels1980, 11 Juin 2017

The staff here is beyond helpful and friendly. The texting service was helpful to get in touch through our stay. It's less than 10 mins to visitors center downtown, 5 to China town and about 20 to fisherman's wharf. Great location. No pool unfortunately.

"Great place"
Debra M, 10 Juin 2017

No issue. Staff was great If they could have promised sun the whole time it would have been over the moon. There was some construction happening but it did not cause any ill pleasure. Never heard boo. Will stay there again.

"Wanted to Stay Close to My Meeting Location"
Pamela M, 10 Juin 2017

Stayed here for two days last week with my son, who came along for my business trip. The rooms with two beds are quite small. There would not be enough space for our family for 4, but it was fine for the two of us. Rooms were clean. Hotel staff were great, and valet parking was flawless. It was nice to have the complimentary umbrellas to use for the rainy walk to my meetings. Based on the downtown location, the hotel was loud at night. You can hear street noise, taking and fights/situations at 2am.

"Great staff, quiet, relaxing, good location"
christinahO5389NO, 05 Juin 2017

We loved our stay here (one night). Parking was $20 but so easy--valet all the way. And the staff was great, kind, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had a great kitchenette. Kids loved watching tv, parents liked having our own room. Good business center, complimentary bike rental, nice lobby, and close to Chinatown. And the price was right!

"Overpriced "
johancanada, 03 Juin 2017

Although rooms fairly clean and neat I feel overpriced as further away from inner harbour than it looks like on booking website. No parking at hotel and they have to take your vehicle for valet parking away from hotel.

"Victoria Day"
_biscuitspinay, 01 Juin 2017

My family are comfortable to stayed in this hotel.. It is clean and friendly staff.. Closed to amenities..you can walk to downtown, restaurant are everywhere...you can go around stuff and souvenirs..we enjoyed watching the parade during Victoria Day ... I fairly recommend this hotel...from Chilliwack , B.C.

"Victoria BC downtown hotel"
473jovanam, 30 Mai 2017

This hotel is in the perfect location for downtown Victoria. Completely within walking distance of many attractions and events. They have complimentary bikes which you can use to take around the city which is nice. The service and staff here are excellent. I had the queen bed room. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. I slept great for a 1 night stay.

"Wonderful Hotel, Super Staff"
Scott M, 29 Mai 2017

Stayed two nights on a weekend. This hotel is walking distance to everything in downtown Victoria. The staff are all super friendly and efficient. Room was nicely appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The valet parking was very quick.

"Location location and comfort"
Maurizio3030, 28 Mai 2017

The location is awesome and my room was perfect. The pillows and bed were so.comfortable giving me a great nights sleep. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Parking has a cost 20 per night but it is needed. All in all a good experience.

"See you next time!"
Kaelyn C, 27 Mai 2017

We recently stayed here during the Victoria Day celebrations with a last minute reservation (booked the night before arrival). We were excited to have a found such an affordable and conveniently located hotel given the holiday weekend. Unfortunately the 3rd party booking service we used did not actually confirm a reservation with the hotel....so we arrived with no room to our name. Cue the awesomeness of Cal! Cal was our front desk wonder who flawlessly handled what could have been a stressful and crappy situation with supreme ease. We were quickly booked in a new room, at a better rate, and with such grace that we were already convinced we would stay again. That's before we saw bikes available for a complimentary 3 hour rental, were offered water upon check in and received the Best customer service we have ever had. So yeah, we'll be back. Also, be sure to check out the breakfast restaurant downstairs. And Cal, mischief managed.

"Excellent family stay."
jovanp432, 25 Mai 2017

Location of hotel is ideal. Surrounding objects and attractions are really cool. China Town just steps away. Stuff is extremely friendly. Usage of bicycle to bike in town is included in price. Fitness room available. This was family vacation and we are all really happy.

"Victoria Day Escape"
834crystali, 23 Mai 2017

The staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful right from check in to check out. The room and foyer were clean and very comfortable with a great concierge by text option. I will definitely stay there again!

"A great bet for downtown Victoria."
Marilyn B, 18 Mai 2017

Amazing location , lovely hotel near cultural and sport events. The valet parking was most convenient....... excellent youthful , helpful staff were most welcoming. All round a great find, whether it be for shopping , theatre or sporting event.

"Friendly staff"
Melanie D, 13 Mai 2017

I will come back here in the future! They upgraded us to a suite for free! The room was large and updated decor. I was here for medical reasons so I also received the medical rate which was a great deal! I am overall very happy with the Best Western in Victoria!

"Great stay"
User, 12 Mai 2017

My husband and I were here for 2 nights. We had an excellent stay. Check-in was seamless, & we were given a complimentary upgrade (much appreciated). The hotel is quiet, clean, & in a great location. We used free passes for a local gym, as their exercise room is not available. Staff is helpful and pleasant. Would definitely stay here again.

"hotel access"
U5650KLrickb, 11 Mai 2017

not an easy get in - get out ! valet parking @ $ 20.00 a night - which I wasn't expecting. Not happy with the rate also - based on my frequency of stays. Terrible location if you are driving in a very busy part of the city.

"LOCATION-LOCATION-LOCATION"
thegrizwalds5, 11 Mai 2017

This was a great hotel to stay at for LOCATION.....STAFF...THE RUBY RESTAURANT...it is in walking distance to everything...right near the MacPherson Playhouse...I loved it...you couldn't ask for more professional-courteous staff. For bring right downtown the sound barrier was excellent in my room.

"Visit to Victoria"
V9858YQjeanp, 10 Mai 2017

Walking distance to Empress Hotel, parliament buildings, fishermans wharf, water taxi and great restaurants. To take double decker bus for Victoria tour, catch at the empress hotel as the other tour company is not double decker.

"Expect to wake up early"
Viola P, 06 Mai 2017

The staff here are excellent and the location is great. The hotel is clean and the hallways are interesting. Our room was also quite nice. However, I have one big complaint. The curtains in our room are TOO SHORT. Unless you're a rooster or the kind of person who likes to get up at the crack of dawn don't expect to enjoy sleeping in here. For us we are two exhausted parents and spent a lot of money to get a night off and to be able to sleep in, only to be woken up very early by the sun shining right in our eyes. The bed is pushed under the window and the room is dark except for right where our heads go, there is a strip of bright light that's essentially like having a flashlight being shone in your eyes as soon as the sun comes up. Very disappointing since we will now go home STILL TIRED! Oh well. Hotel nice otherwise, very kind staff.

"Great location, great service"
Brenda B, 06 Mai 2017

This hotel is in a very convenient location - just off Douglas Street on Johnson. You can walk to most eateries, shopping, etc. The staff are very helpful. Guest rooms are well appointed and spacious.

"Very Comfortable!"
Jeanie L, 03 Mai 2017

This hotel is a little dated but clean and comfortable. The staff were wonderful with special thanks to Cal and Brandon. The rooms are a bit small, but the beds were comfy. The fitness room was under renovation, but the hotel provided passes to a nearby fitness room. All in all, it was a very nice stay.

"A great place to stay in downtown Victoria"
Jennifer S, 02 Mai 2017

This hotel was recommended by the Victoria Clipper sales staff and was perfect in every way. We had a 'studio suite' which provided everything you could possibly need...full kitchen, sitting area with couch, coffee table, wide screen TV, plus a dining table with chairs. We could have stayed for days! It is also conveniently located downtown, just a couple of blocks from Chinatown, the harbor and all the sites. The front desk staff was so accommodating and helpful. They even gave us tips on some of the best restaurants ever - Fish Hook and Red Fish Blue Fish. Enjoy!

"Located in the heart of downtown"
Jennotimpressed, 02 Mai 2017

Average sized room in heart of downtown. Great place to stay if you want to enjoy being right downtown. The room was very clean, has fridge and coffee in room. Thank you Baljinder for making the room spotless;) Ross at front desk was great at multitasking which made for smooth checkout. negatives were that in staying at a BW plus I'd expect a Pool or hot tub and was also shocked that there was not room service. I'd asked for a room with a view at time of booking and asked if any upgrades were available and wasn't offered either.

"BW hotel"
karishmadewji, 01 Mai 2017

Amazing place to stay. Excellent staff and services provided. Many places are accessible at walking distance. Parking was also provided. Would really recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Victoria. Looking forward to stay at BW whenever we visit.

"Pleasant Stay At This Hotel"
dave11811, 30 Avril 2017

Very friendly, helpful hotel staff. Room was adequate, clean and extremely quiet, so perfect for me. Small bathroom, but clean and functional. The hotel staff would park our rental car for us each evening in a garage for $9 - good deal and I didn't have to worry about finding a parking spot overnight. Hotel location was great - a number of terrific restaurants and coffee houses within a few blocks and many sites we wanted to see were within a 15 minute walk from the hotel.

"Classy environment"
A G, 27 Avril 2017

Fabulous room with a marvelous view of the city. Very clean and spacious suite with a fluffy pillows, soft towels, full kitchen with all the necessary items, complementary bottle water and quite! Super nice people at the front desk, very helpful and always with a smile.

"Comfortable, clean and convenient!"
Patrick T, 26 Avril 2017

Nice little hotel with top notch staff. The wife, baby and I stayed over Easter weekend for 4 nights and were very impressed with the service from the front desk staff. Only downside is that the property is slowing its age and will need need some renos in the near future. The fitness centre would be the first place to start. With that said the beds are very comfortable and room comes with all the amenities one would expect.

"Clean and friendly"
User, 25 Avril 2017

Nothing fancy but was nice and clean. Staff super friendly and helpful. Stayed for a week nice to have a full kitchen and a large fridge. In the center of downtown, so walking distance to most places. Highest price we paid for a cab was $6.00 us currency. A very chill, welcoming place to visit. Small enough so you get to spend your time relaxing instead of traveling from place to place in traffic. One of my favorite places to visit.

"Amazing Vacation"
Manvinder K, 23 Avril 2017

Had an excellent stay with BW At. Victoria Downtown. They really go out of the way and care for thier guests. Located in the heart of downtown you are in the centre of the action and the rooms and the staff is amazing!

"Good location "
24trish, 18 Avril 2017

Since it's in downtown, you could just walk to the harbour and parliament. Walking distance to 7-11 and Burger King. It's a hit if you have kids. Parking cost $8 per day but it's valet parking. Joel was really nice. Enjoyed our stay, complete kitchenette .

"All the charm at a reasonable price"
Colleen C, 13 Avril 2017

The hotel is in a great location. A short walk to the harbour and the walk is very scenic and has lots of cool shops like Munros Bookstore and Murchies along the way. It is close to awesome restaurants and bars too like Bard and Banker. My room was on the top floor and had a large balcony but had to peek over to see the view of the city. The elevator is small and there is only 1 but I never waited long. The lobby is luxurious and is connected to the Ruby restaurant where I had an amazing breakfast and the best coffee ever.

"Great location"
bruceV7837MU, 12 Avril 2017

Hotel on the older side but very nicely kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was upgraded to a suite nice! It would hav been nice if ther was a pool. But the do have bicycle that could be borrowed from th hotel.

"Free Bike Rental Offered."
allenyz, 10 Avril 2017

The hotel service people are very nice and helpful. The hotel itself is a very old one...it is clean, though. The worst thing about it is that you can not park yourself... good luck if you have a lot of luggage. It gives you a feeling of staying at a cheap NYC hotel, even though it is at a island of beautiful BC.

"Nice for hotel type. "
DentistT, 08 Avril 2017

Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Unable to check in early, but they did store luggage. Beds were surprisingly pleasant which is abnormal for such an affordable price. Nice location and close to everything. Clean and affordable. Great value.

"Fantastic Location"
roxannewanamaker, 03 Avril 2017

The hotel is right in the heart of Victoria, the rooms clean, the staff friendly and very helpful. We had a suite and it has everything you would need. We have not tried the new restaurant in the hotel, but the reviews look great. Next visit we will. We will always book here, when in Victoria.

"Nice Surprise"
DiJohnson, 02 Avril 2017

We were really pleasantly surprised at the value and great customer service. We stepped in tentative based on some other reviews and were therefore quite pleased with the little suite we ended up with. Right within blocks of everything we were visiting that night we had very clean room, comfortable beds and a quick check in. The valet parking eliminated that headache for us. Considering it was Sat night in the nightclub adjacent we still were able to fall asleep. Wish we had had the time for the complimentary bikes. We will definitely booked this when adventuring in Victoria again.

"Just what we needed...."
MissyGryphon, 27 Novembre 2016

Stayed 3 nights in November while in Victoria for medical reasons. Arrived very early at 8:30 a.m. and was immediately given our room. YEAH! Requested a quiet room and was given a room on the 5th room facing Johnston street. Being higher up does help with street noise but it is an old building and the noise was very evident. The hotel actually provides one set of ear plugs in the room which acknowledges that noise is evident. The location of the hotel was perfect for us as we were able to easily walk to the Royal Jubilee hospital heading down Johnston Street (3.3 kms). Was also pleasantly surprised that we were upgraded to a suite that included a couch, table & chairs and a full kitchen. Fantastic! The furniture was quite outdated but the entire room was very clean and functional. Beds and linens were okay. Our bathroom was extremely small but recently remodeled. Shampoo and conditioner is provided in a dispenser in the combo bath/shower. 1 bar or soap and 1 small bottle of moisturizer. All the staff that encounter were extremely nice and professional.

"Best Western Victoria"
993draganche, 26 Novembre 2016

Good hotel, close to everything, could be the problem with parking in peak hours. I have been staying in different rooms but those one with kitchenette are the best. Stuff is super friendly and you can get bikes for 3 hours for free.

"Excellent customer service friendly staff great rooms and location."
Sridhar M, 25 Novembre 2016

Excellent customer service friendly staff great rooms and location. Staff was always helpful abswering questions regarding the area and checkin and chekout process was smooth and easy. Overall best bang for your buck!

"Great location"
galaxy_is, 24 Novembre 2016

This hotel is awesome. Great location you can walk to everything downtown. The staff is amazing and look after you. The beds are comfy and soft. Rooms are clean and well looked after. Would stay here again.

"A Great Find"
Nancy G, 24 Novembre 2016

Centrally located in downtown Victoria, this hotel is well appointed, comfortable and secure. The best part of our stay was the interaction with the staff, all of whom were extraordinarily courteous, friendly and willing to help. We'd definitely stay here again!

"Best Vacation ever"
472ginar, 23 Novembre 2016

For a Best Friend getaway this was by far the best vacation ever. It started with a memorable greeting at the front desk and it never stopped. We received a free upgrade to start. The room was perfect! The location of the hotel was right in the heart of what we were hoping to take in and experience. We walked every where, and felt safe entering and exiting the hotel. Never had one issue and knew that assistance was only a text away if we had problems. THANK YOU!!

"Home away from Home"
Tony C, 19 Novembre 2016

This Hotel came well recommended and I am happy to say it exceeded all expectations through its central location, helpful friendly staff, spotless rooms and excellent 'extended stay' rates. In the same street and just around the corner are numerous good value restaurants. We stayed 10 days and were sorry to leave. Comfortable and cosy with a kitchen, lounge and clean modern bathroom. It felt more like an apartment with its spacious layout . All appliances were new and worked perfectly. Very quiet room with a pleasant view over the city to the mountains. It could not have been better.

"Part of a Clipper package"
Stephen27, 18 Novembre 2016

This hotel was offered as part of an overnight Clipper package to Victoria and for the price, it was quite reasonable. It is in the "heart" of Victoria which seemed to be a bit grubby to me. I could have easily walked past the entrance to this hotel as it is not all that obvious. The reception staff were not all that friendly but hey, everyone has a bad day once in a while don't they? The room was adequate if not for a strange buzz that would not go away which I believe had something to do with the elevator. It was not loud but it was a background noise. The beds were comfy and the bathroom adequate. The view was of graffiti. Breakfast was in the London tube restaurant attached to the hotel. It was reasonable and it could have been better if they had sold espresso coffee. The pancakes were very good. The hotel has lots of eateries close to it and it is not far from Chinatown. However, the dinginess of the area at night and the constant smell of pot takes away some of the amenity of the area. Victoria was not my cup of tea so that sort of tarred the hotel which seemed to be much in the spirit of the city.

"A pleasent stay"
John B, 18 Novembre 2016

The hotel is right in the centre of Victoria so walking to all the restaurants is easy. They have a no nonsense quiet policy which is great if you want to get some sleep. They have parking for the car and like many Victoria hotels there is a charge. The difference is that they take the car and put it "somewhere". Gave 15 minutes notice at 6:30 am and the car was at the front door when I wanted it. There are 7 floors but one of the elevators only goes to the first 6. THAT one also gets switched off between 11pm~7am. The stairs are for coming down but the access up needs staff to unlock it. So if using the stairs is for you then you may be disappointed. Cannot comment on breakfast as I had to get to work each day before it was available. The only "complaint" is that the heater did not seem decent enough to do the job but I'd stay here again.

"Heart of Victoria "
Rod B, 17 Novembre 2016

A historic building with a modern hotel feel. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very courteous and attentive to your needs. Valet parking is most efficient and a welcome service offered in the dense downtown area. Thumbs up!

"Excellent service, nice stay"
Clare L, 16 Novembre 2016

We were in Victoria unexpectedly for a funeral. When we arrived to the hotel to check-in we were pleasantly surprised to be told our room was already upgraded as they saw based on our reservation we had a baby and thought we might like a suite with a kitchen. They even offered us a crib. We received a text within an hour of check in to see how our stay was going. We had breakfast the next morning with room service and it was quick and delicious. Excellent coffee! Later that day I received another text to see how we were enjoying our stay. The hotel offers valet parking with a parking fee as they are right downtown and parking is not available. It takes about 15 minutes to get your vehicle when needed but you can also pre-book times for them to have it available. The room decor is not fantastic but the rooms are clean and the suite we were in had everything we needed including bottled water and a keurig machine. This hotel does not have complimentary breakfast like some Best Westerns however instead they have the in-house restaurant and provide room service which I personally prefer. The food is great. This location being right in the heart of downtown provides walking distance to many great restaurants and shops. They have umbrellas available right at the front entrance. I would stay here again. Thanks to Cal at the front desk who was taking care of us during our stay.

"Welcome by Very Friendly People"
PeterGunnOne, 15 Novembre 2016

Everyone at this hotel was VERY friendly upon arrival... and departure. They offered bottled water as we left, encouraging our return visit soon. The rooms were very nice, clean, and the bathrooms were spotless clean. We would definitely return here on another trip.

"Victoria Gem"
Cincanada7, 06 Novembre 2016

This hotel is very centrally located to walk Victoria. We were very close to restaurants, pubs and shopping. They offer complimentary bicycles and umbrellas as well. The staff are very helpful from getting something you forgot in your car to make reservations. It helps that you can text them from anywhere and they are happy to answer your questions. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the only downside was that our beds were not. It may have just been our room. I would definitely stay there again.

"Great staff"
12lucy15, 03 Novembre 2016

Visited Victoria last weekend. Check in was great as we were allowed to get into our room around noon. The staff was friendly and assisted with area attractions and recommendations. The room was very clean with a beautiful view of sunset. Housekeeping staff friendly. Restaurant located inside hotel with wonderful staff ( JOHN) and a very good breakfast. All and all a wonderful hotel close to inner harbor and China Town.

"Great Hotel"
Andrew S, 02 Novembre 2016

Found it based on it being nearby to where I had to be for work, but would come back next time I am in town for concert. A really great location. Friendly staff, nice, clean rooms and a great price, not much more you can ask for.

"Central, Clean, Comfortable, and Great Customer Service!"
harmonyc262, 02 Novembre 2016

My husband and I stayed at this Best Western on a 3-night business trip to Victoria, and we were so pleasantly surprised! We picked it because of the central location, and loved that it was so easy to explore the whole city on foot. We had a King room on the sixth floor; it was very clean and comfortable, and we had a nice view of the city from over the rooftops. What really stood out to us, though, was the fantastic customer service...and not just from the front desk staff. Every staff-member we met in the hallways/elevators, such as maids on their way to clean other rooms, and the folks bringing up/down room-service, went out of their way to ensure that we were having a good stay, and asked if there was anything we needed. Another nice touch was the text messages we received from the front desk staff shortly after we checked in, asking if everything was to our liking. It's clear that Best Western takes customer service very seriously, and everyone working there contributes to providing a warm and welcoming experience for the guests. Needless to say, we will definitely stay here again next time we are in Victoria -- thanks for a great stay!

"Canada Oct 2016"
Jonathan B, 02 Novembre 2016

A first class experience. arrived with a hire car, leave the keys at reception, parking attended to, request car and it awaits at the front of the hotel, fantastic service. Enquired of whale watching, the staff were most helpful, arranged everything, and the taxi was waiting the next morning as arranged. Accommodation First class. Used the laundry facilities. All in all a very good experience, would stay again if the circumstances arise.

"Royal treatment "
tripping192016, 02 Novembre 2016

Love this old classic ,an old hotel refreshed into a beautiful, classy, comfortable best western . This property is very close to downtown ,walking distance actually , they have some rooms with great amenities such as a deck that you could sit outside on and enjoy the city, a huge deck I might add. The bed as usual was comfortable and clean ,the furnishings were very nice and modern our room was the size of a apartment such a nice place to stay. The cars must be valet parked but they have this service down to a t they bring your car to you quickly and are always pleasant . This hotel may be great but the staff is also very attentive and polite and happy , I would recommended this beautiful hotel hands down in Victoria

"Our last Hotel stop, on our Canadian trip"
Roger L, 01 Novembre 2016

A really lovely hotel, centrally located in Victoria. Our room on 6th floor was excellent. We stopped here for 2 nights on our Canadian Tour ( with Travelsphere ), to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the breakfasts in the "London Tube". Our stop was made even more special by the "surprise", waiting for us in our room, when we arrived. The hotel had made swans out of towels and sprinkled rose petals on the bed. A knock at the door, brought us a bottle of Champagne and 2 glasses. If and when we ever visit Canada again, will certainly stay here.

"great place to stay!"
Joseph B, 26 Octobre 2016

It was our first time visiting Victoria and we picked this hotel because of its location and great comments. I was right! Could not think of anything better. Clean, comfortable, in downtown of Victoria, professional and helpful staff.

"A good hotel"
Allan M, 24 Octobre 2016

I have stayed here twice in the past year. It is great value for the money, particularly as you are in downtown Victoria, one of the most scenic small harbour areas on the continent. And the bedroom was top notch.

"Wonderful staff"
dschumac, 23 Octobre 2016

A friend and I stayed in the Best Western Carlton Plaza as part of a travel package. The hotel itself is pretty standard fare: northing special, but clean, sufficiently appointed and in easy walking distance of restaurants and shopping. What made the stay was the staff. Everyone we talked with was exceptionally welcoming and well-informed. Cal was particularly helpful when we asked about where we could find a good "full English" breakfast, suggesting we take advantage of the hotel's attached restaurant, the London Tube. Ordinarily, I'd be wary of an in-house recommendation, but her description of the menu and the care with which they prepared the meals won us over -- as did the eggs benedict I enjoyed the next morning. Better still, our waiter responded to a question about where we could buy fruit with a list of options complete with directions.

"Nice Hotel, good location"
paulcU2272BY, 19 Octobre 2016

Our check in was quick and efficient, the staff, especially Cal, were friendly and knew their stuff. Our original assigned room was next to the elevator so we asked for a different room which was handled without fuss and we even got a free upgrade (as we were in town for my birthday) to a suite. The suite was at the front of the hotel and this meant that there was a fair bit of traffic noise from the street four floors below us (they provide a pair of ear plugs so I had no trouble sleeping though). My advice would be to ask for a room at the back of the hotel or as high up as possible.

"Good location in Victoria"
HawaiianWoman75, 18 Octobre 2016

IF you're wanting a good place downtown Victoria this is a good one you can explore & check out a few areas by walking like Parliament buildings & the harbor was both my first visit there as it was my daughters.

"Comfortablke stay."
Chilli48, 18 Octobre 2016

Enjoyed a 2 night stay here.Well located (downtown) large modern hotel and a member of the Best Western stable.Friendly reception staff who served us well and answered all our questions. There is a small lobby and comfortable sitting area and an efficient lift to all floors. Our suite (sitting area+kitchinette) overlooked the street with a view of the rooftops of downtown Victoria.Hotel is close to the shops, bars and restaurants and has a slightly downhill walk to the inner harbour. Overall it was a convenient and comfortable stay.

"Goood Place From Which To Explore Victoria"
peter_sue20, 16 Octobre 2016

Very good location in the 'old part' of Victoria. It is a short walk to the inner harbour and all of the other sights. There are numerous bars and restaurants in the area. Valet parking is available. Rooms are a decent size and contain a fridge, iron, coffee machine etc. Staff are friendly and most helpful.

"Great rates and great service"
Don S, 16 Octobre 2016

I have stayed here a few times and each time is consistent with great service at check in and automated check out, the valet service is a treat and must have based on the downtown location and with pretty much everything you would want in the area its an easy walk for any type of food or being the tourist, rooms are nice and one of my next visits I really must use the gym.

"Comfortable and accommodating"
ashhjon, 14 Octobre 2016

I stayed here for two nights on a solo venture. I arrived two hours early for check in, thinking I would ask them to hold my bags but was told it was no problem and they found me a room straight away. The room while on the smaller side is very comfortable and clean, the service from all staff was second to none and the hotel is in a great location. Only small dislikes are no microwave in room only a small one in the lobby and no channel guide on the remote meaning endless flicking.

"Not a Plus"
iLive4Adventuring, 11 Octobre 2016

Prior to my trip I went back and forth between this hotel and BW Plus Inner Harbour but ended up picking this one as it was closer to some of the restaurants I wanted to try. Such a bad choice! Due to the weather, we ended up finishing our activities for the day early and went to see if it would be possible to check in. I talked with Annabelle and was told that if we came between 1pm and 2pm then we would be able to get our room. Upon our arrival at 1:30pm, Annabelle was helping another guest. We were helped by a male (I forgot to get his name) who told us that our room wasn't ready and to come back at 3pm as that is the time they could guarantee that our room would be available. I informed the male that I had already spoken with Annabelle and she said to come 1-2pm. The male spoke with Annabelle to see if he could put us in a different room that was ready and she said no. The male again told us to come back at 3pm. This was very disappointing as we specifically came at the time we were told only to find out that we couldn't check in. If they were unable to accommodate the early check-in, Annabelle should have just said that from the beginning rather than having us come all the way to the hotel only to be told to come back. All of the staff we encountered during our stay other than Annabelle were friendly and helpful; Cal was especially welcoming and friendly. The room itself is very basic, not worthy of the plus title. Next time I'm in Victoria I will be staying at BW Plus Inner Harbour- it's closer to the main attractions and have several fabulous dining options nearby that we tried.

"A very nice midrange hotel"
habzfan, 07 Octobre 2016

One of the failings of TripAdvisor, in my view, is that hotels and restaurants targeting different clientels and markets get lumped together... with the result that it can sometimes be difficult to differentiate an excellent low range hotel from an excellent midrange hotel from an excellent high end hotel. The difference, at the risk of stating the obvious, can be pretty dramatic. With that said, I would give the Carlton Plaza high marks for doing a very good job of being a very good midrange hotel. There is nothing fancy about this place... the amenities are fairly basic, the views are nothing to post to social media, and the decor of the rooms and hallways feel a bit tired and worn around the edges. Still, the hotel is in an excellent location, within easy walking distance of all attractions downtown. The staff were very friendly and worked hard to be helpful. And, most importantly, the rooms were clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for basic accommodations at a good value.

"A pleasant surprise"
CredulousTraveler, 07 Octobre 2016

This hotel located was a pleasant surprise, exceeding expectations for a Best Western. Almost like staying at a boutique hotel except that it lacks a cool bar (actually any bar). The front desk staff were young and friendly, texting to get feedback on the room. The room itself was bright, clean and equipped with a modest kitchenette. There are bicycles available to take for a trip around the town. The restaurant advertises a British afternoon tea in line with Victoria's tourist theme. I didn't take advantage if but if your pleasure from afternoon tea derives from more from sandwiches and sweets than from an elegant surrounding, you could give it a try (otherwise the expensive elegance of the Empress awaits). Hotel location is excellent with Chinatown, the funkier bars and shops near Johnston as well as the standard attractions around the inner harbour all within walking distance. The valet parking is affordable and convenient.

"Convenient and reasonable"
mktani, 02 Octobre 2016

It used to be a real bargain, but the rates have gone up and they charge a daily fee for parking now. The rooms are a little nicer. It is still my favorite place to stay in Victoria. The employees are very nice and it has a very comfortable atmosphere. The laundry room is handy and the detergent is free. The location is great. The higher end hotels are on the other side of the harbor and less convenient to the many great restaurants in town.

"Friendly but old"
User, 25 Septembre 2016

Great service but rooms are quite aged and a bit on the small side. If you have the chance to upgrade your room, definetly do so. The elevators are also a bit confusing. Parking is valet only, so leave lots of time to garb car in morning

"Victoria vacaton"
Mark B, 23 Septembre 2016

booked this hotel after the BW near the harbor was not available. older property but well maintained. rooms on the smaller side but we did not spend much time in the room. bathroom was small but we made it no problem. really helps when the sink is separate and outside of the WC-shower. the staff were all great and very helpful. off site parking for additional fee but secure. the hotel was clean and well cared for. it was just a few blocks to the inner harbor so no big deal. the London Tube restaurant adjacent was a good value with excellent caring staff. they did offer a full afternoon tea that was excellent. its on an Alice in wonderland theme. every bit as good as the Empress (which we have had on several occ.) I could not get the Kureig coffee maker to work properly...might be me ..not a problem as the restaurant service tea and coffee as well as a short walk to the Murchies tea company. overall a good value and stay

"Large room for excellent price!"
barbintoronto, 22 Septembre 2016

We were 3 adults travelling and were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves in a 2-bedroom suite with large living area, huge closet space and kitchenette. Based on he price, I thought this was a budget hotel but it is so much more. I even got a text message a few minutes after checking in, to follow up on our room. Huh? Never had this before but I loved it. It was a really personal touch that made us feel like the staff really cared about us. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable and there is a restaurant on site, with parking nearby. Why pay more?

"Sleepless"
YukonEditor, 22 Septembre 2016

The hotel was clean. The service was prompt and friendly. No pool. Located in the heart of downtown and a short distance from the harbour (10-minute walk). But lots of "street" noise: construction, garbage pick-up, pubs, traffic. Bring ear plugs.

"One night stay close to business. Good Value."
leftcoastimaging, 19 Septembre 2016

My wife and I stayed at this refurbished hotel while in Victoria for a one day conference. The building is older but very nicely remodeled and quite fitting for the neighbourhood. Enjoyed the valet parking and very attentive staff. I got a complimentary copy of my favourite newspaper on checkout

"Staff really cares about their guests!!! Central location."
Capnhi9er, 16 Septembre 2016

I reviewed this hotel a year ago after a somewhat disappointing visit. I am re-reviewing it because our most recent visit was a completely different experience. The general manager responded to my previous review and called me personally to apologize for the issues that were under their control. He even gave me a certificate for a free night with the recommendation to ask for a high floor on the back. I needed to have surgery in Victoria so we decided to stay at the Carlton with our adult daughter. We discovered that the certificate had expired but the Manager of Customer Service immediately fixed that up and reserved a room on the back on a high floor. When we got there it turned out to be a one-bedroom suite which was beautiful and extremely comfortable. We each had our own bed and the suite had a full kitchen. It was totally quiet on the back of the hotel. Parking is free but it is valet so be sure to plan ahead and call down for your car before you head downstairs. We had a lovely night. We will definitely stay here again. If we need to stay several nights, we will book one of these suites so we can do our own cooking.

"Victoria"
Darren L, 16 Septembre 2016

Nice property close to all amenities near the harbour in Victoria- allowing you to walk to local attractions/restaurants. parking is by valet - but in a secure location. Staff is very professional and friendly, rooms clean and fairly updated

"Perfectly located!!"
Shelly H, 13 Septembre 2016

We found this hotel to be perfectly located in the heart of downtown! Close to Chinatown, easy walk to the harbor, museums, shops, etc. Staff was really nice and really helpful! Room was really clean and reasonably priced. They have bikes to borrow for a ride around the city, but put a 3 hour limit on it, which we were not aware of till we had already planned our day, so that was a bummer. The one true downside I felt was there is Valet parking only... and your car will be in a garage a couple blocks down the street. Just makes it hard to get stuff last minute. They are happy to get it for you any time though, just inconvenient.

"Canada trip"
12peter1956, 12 Septembre 2016

This hotel was perfectly placed for our Victoria visit, the staff were extremely pleasant and friendly especially Rachel, if we return to Victoria we will definitely be happy to return here, it's perfectly placed for the town and harbour area, our room was clean and quiet and well serviced

"Can't do better than this for service and quality and location (unless you want a view)."
Scam-this, 12 Septembre 2016

We Stayed on the fith floor, corner suite with Kithenette, and it was awesome. I've stayed at 4 and 5 star places that are no better! Trounce alley is a block away for the best Tapas you'll find anywhere in Canada. Government Street is a block away, which is the tourist strip filled with eat and drink options and my girlfriend loved the boutique shops.

"Great hotel "
IslandGuy777, 12 Septembre 2016

This is my hotel of choice when travelling to Victoria. I had the pleasure of spending two nights over the weekend and the service was excellent, and the room clean and comfortable. The location downtown is close to some great restaurants and within walking distance to everything I want to see in Victoria. I highly recommend this hotel.

"Good location, Caring people"
cpjwang, 11 Septembre 2016

This is your typical Best Western, little short on the hardware usually the exterior, but the frienldy staff and good services make up for it, they even have a mobile concierge service allows you to text them from your phone anytime for anything. Lot of restaurants and local breweries around it. it meets our overall expectations and no complaints

"welcoming experience"
Linda T, 11 Septembre 2016

The staff were helpful .They have valet parking which is a plus to me in a strange city. It is in aa very convenient location. I could walk to most attractions. The staff were really good about giving direction and Cal was very helpful on places to dine. She also checked to make sure We were pleased with our room and if there was anything she could do to make our stay more enjoyable.

"25 Anniversary"
Anna W, 10 Septembre 2016

The entire staff; front desk to cleaners were incredibly good. As I can only remember a few names out of the many that I did have contact with I can only say front desk staff, cleaners on the 4th and 6th floors for the four days of our stay. This trip was our 25 anniversary gift to ourselves and everyone in the hotel made our visit a wonderful time. So wonderful that we have decided to make a stay at this hotel a regular anniversary stay.

"Busy"
Frankly2Honest, 09 Septembre 2016

Busy place! Small front desk with not enough staff, phones, space. It was crowed front lobby when checking in while other people we waiting for their cars to be brought around and others were waiting to check in. It's an old building and mostly well kept but we didn't have a shower curtain for our bathtub so we mentioned it to the front desk after we dropped our bags in the room. When we got back around 8:00pm there was still no shower curtain so I called the front desk again who said they would send someone up. Around 10:30 the front desk called to ask if we had our shower curtain yet and when I told them no they said they would send someone up. Around 11:30pm I called the front desk and told them we were going to bed. Still NO shower curtain! The single elevator is very small and slow. The attached restaurant looks interesting but we never tried it. Next visit to Victoria we will likely Airbnb.

"Great location, small rooms, nice staff"
Rachel S, 08 Septembre 2016

We spent one night here after a last minute ferry trip from Port Angeles and were happy to be here, especially at the greatly discounted price we got via Hotwire. The location is GREAT--about a 15 minute walk to the pier area and close to all of the touristy restaurants and shops. The woman who checked us in was very friendly and provided us with a map and tips for good spots for dinner and the best places to walk. The room itself was modern, clean, and well air conditioned which was appreciated because it was very hot outside. The room and bathroom were a bit small but we didn't have a lot of baggage so it was okay. We heard a little bit of noise from the hallway at night but nothing from the street. No free breakfast but there are lots of good spots nearby for cheap and tasty breakfast (we loved the QV Cafe just down the street). For a quick trip this hotel was a comfortable spot.

"A great find"
Ellie196, 07 Septembre 2016

Everyone wants to stay in a hotel on the Inner Harbor and some of them are quite grand. For those who travel in the medium range, we lean on some old standbys that are convenient to the ferry and clipper. Big mistake. Some of these hotels do not have air conditioning and have lousy wireless. They are leaning on their location to get $175+ a night US. For a five block walk or taxi drive of $6 Canadian, you can stay at a hotel that really cares. The Best Western Carlton Plus bailed us out of one of the disappointing hotels on the Inner Harbor. My friend was absolutely miserable in a room without air on a hot August day. Even the fan brought no relief. I scrambled to find another hotel. The Best Western had a room. We took a taxi to the Government District just a short walk away. This was at 9:30 in the morning. We took our luggage in, expecting to leave it for the day. They put us in that room....on the spot! Who does that? What a pleasant surprise. The rooms were very nice, clean, neat, and the wireless was strong. They had free bike rentals for up to 3 hours, and everyone in that hotel was very efficient and friendly. I felt like I was staying in a much better hotel. After my stay, they contacted me to see how it went. I said, "read my Trip Advisor Review". This is the hotel business done right.

"Great hotel/terrible parking"
Dianne W, 05 Septembre 2016

The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and were always quick to offer up tips or suggestions for places to see while in Victoria. The hotel itself is in the absolute best location within the downtown core - very walkable location. There are cruiser bikes available for free to use which were fun to check out the city. Parking - mandatory $16 a night valet parking and the parkaid is across several busy streets. If you are needing anything out of your vehicle the staff either have to escort you or bring the car around (10-15 min) wait.

"Can't believe a business could be run on such poor morals"
Taylor D, 05 Septembre 2016

The Best Western Carlton Plaza charged us a mark up of $300 dollars additional to our room cost for Saturday of labour day weekend. Friday and Sunday were each $300 dollars themselves and they bumped the markup for Saturday to $629! Disgusted by this! The Best Western has no business ethics!

"Great Hotel"
LinfinLondon, 01 Septembre 2016

We stayed here for 1 night when we visited Victoria from Vancouver. It is well located in the heart of downtown easily walkable to reach the waterfront. The welcome we received from the staff was fabulous - so helpful and friendly providing helpful recommendations for our stay. Rooms are well equipped and comfortable. A big bonus was the valet parking $16 per night and the complimentary cycle hire. Would highly recommend.

"Centrally located hotel. Excellent stay"
Sajjid H, 28 Août 2016

Nice room, walking distance to harbor, china town and great restaurants! Excellent customer service. Hotel offers nice bikes for rental, which we wish we knew about before! Parking located at walking distance from hotel- public parking (refer to attached map). I forgot my sunglasses at the hotel and they were sent back to Ontario by the hotel.

"8 minute walk from everything!"
Lorisong, 26 Août 2016

We really enjoyed our stay here. We were in a king suite, with a very comfortable bed. Clean and spacious. The people who work here are top notch helpful and fun! Loved the space in the suite for an extended stay. I would think this would be good for work travelers or people who needed to make small meals for themselves too. London Tube restaurant downstairs was REALLY good though... The room was lacking in any color, very grey and brown, but clean and very comfy and easy to navigate. Business modern if you will. Downside may be that you have to Valet park or look for on street parking. It's an urban neighborhood, but totally safe. The view is roof tops, which for us is fun and what we wanted, as we live on the water already...It really was an easy walk to anywhere. Good people watching. Highly recommend.

"Great hotel, walking distance to Chinatown & Inner Harbour"
Nagarkot247, 25 Août 2016

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Hotel was clean and conveniently located near Chinatown and about a 15 minute walk to the Inner Harbour. A 20 minute walk with luggage from the Coho Ferry, 5 minutes by taxi. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Free bicycle rental was an unexpected amenity, with easy ride across Johnson Street bridge to the Galloping Goose trail along the water.

"Second Visit"
NadineJ2, 23 Août 2016

My husband and I had stayed here once before in 2014 and could think of no better hotel to stay in to celebrate our 10th Anniversary! We were not disappointed! Annabelle at the front desk was so very friendly, efficient and informative. She even delivered wine, glasses, chocolates and a lovely card from the hotel to our room that first evening we were there. We spent two nights in a beautiful king suite. The room was very clean and decorated so nicely, the bed was super comfortable and the AC worked very well. Housekeeping was amazing once again. Hannah in housekeeping cleaned our room so well, even honoured my request of extra tea and sugar. She left us a sweet note to congratulate us on our anniversary. The hotel is beautiful. We didn't use the fitness room this time around, but it's very nice. They even had free bike and helmet rental!! We LOVE the Carlton and the staff is great!! Thanks to everyone there for making our stay so wonderful.

"Almost perfect location"
Vanfan68, 23 Août 2016

Stayed just one night in this hotel for a quick family trip. Its a pretty standard 3 star hotel but the location is great. We were "upgraded" to a suite- the room was decent, perhaps a little dated but otherwise fine. Except it would take the tub 20 minutes to drain after a shower (room 308 if mgmt reads this) and the bathroom was really small. Only other minor complaint was that the elevator took forever (you need room key to access it from the lobby) as its so old and it seems to be the only 1 for the entire hotel. So unless you're on top floors or mobility issues just use the stairs. Front desk service was excellent- quick friendly and efficient. Overall if you are looking for a reasonably priced centrally located place to stay this place will do you just fine. We would definitely return there again if the room was priced right.

"Return visit"
monster_in_the_boat, 22 Août 2016

Made a last minute decision to visit Victoria to spend a couple of nights. Not a good strategy, because most hotels were booked. Heavy booking, means heavy pricing. So if we had to pay the price we went with something familiar. The BW Carlton is a nice hotel. Great staff, friendly and helpfull. And, the location is close to the harbor, all the great restaurants, and China town is near by. The suite was nice sized and up todate. It is like coming back home.

"Terrible Hotel"
Danis K, 22 Août 2016

Better to consider in advance to stay at this hotel, the room are very far from clean and old style then the staff are not friendly and not rigorous in carrying out a request via telephone, just the receptionist lady work at night was really helpful. Good location but bad hotel and service.

"Perfect family base"
HAL425, 20 Août 2016

We went to Victoria at the end of a 2-week Western Canada road trip, and so were a little weary when we checked in. With the exception of a little street congestion when trying to find a parking spot to check in, we had a nearly flawless time here. The hotel is just a few blocks from the inner harbor, but has much more reasonable rates than those right on the water. The staff was friendly, helpful (even when we had a chocolate/caramel candy mishap on the white bed linens), and always quick. They used a text-message based system when you needed anything, and it worked great. The only weak spot is that valet parking is required, but the service was quick when we called down to get the car. The beds were very comfortable after a couple of weeks of highly variable bed styles on the trip, and we couldn't have asked for a more pleasant stay. Thank you to the staff. We will be back.

"victoria,bc"
three2match, 19 Août 2016

very friendly and accommodating staff; rooms are comfortable, clean, - easily walkable to downtown, china town, and the harbor. Good restaurants near the area- safe to walk around. Decent fitness room, and bicycles available, free of charge.

""Great location, excellent staff""
Syed A, 17 Août 2016

Stayed five nights. They upgraded us to a room with a kitchen for free. Staff was very supportive and helpful. They kept in touch with us during our stay via texting and kept asking if we have any concerns or issues. The location is excellent. Most of the main attractions, shopping areas, and fast food chains are on few minutes of walking distance such as, inner harbor, Chinatown, Royal BC Museum, Bay Center, MEC, Burger King, McDonald, Tim Hortons, Subway, Macs, 7-Eleven, Shoppers Drugmart, and the Ice cream shops and pubs at the Government street. Highly recommended.

"Our final Canadian hotel"
Di S, 15 Août 2016

A good location as walking distance to most everywhere. No free parking but a valet service which worked well. Comfortable rooms and the staff were very good and friendly. Only used the restaurant adjacent for breakfast but was good.

"Great location excellent staff!"
Attila M, 14 Août 2016

Victoria is one of our favorite places to visit, first time staying at this hotel. The location is great close to MEC, China Town, all the shops and restaurants. Not as close to the marina as the Empress but an easy walk to it. The staff really set this hotel apart from the rest, exceptional service and genuine helpfulness. Will stay here again, highly recommended!

"Good location but poorly managed"
Crescenzio I, 13 Août 2016

We spent two nights booking on the phone directly the hotel. Price seemed good for a suite. We arrived late night : despite the hotel is non smoking the room was plenty of bad smoking smell. The receptionist changed the room with another saying it was the last one and unfortunately was smaller and very noising being in the second floor facing main street ! The day after I complaint about the situation ( nobody actually was telling me nothing ) . The answer was : sorry we will try to deduct some extra from the final check. Unfortunately (!?)they forget to do it at the end of the stay and I was obliged to even ask for.....

"Great Stay, Great Location!"
Cindy D, 12 Août 2016

Husband and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during our recent trip to Victoria (August 8-10, 2016). Great location in downtown Victoria. A few blocks away from the Inner Harbour where we arrived, but we walked it at a normal pace (with suitcases in tow) in about 15-20 minutes. Front desk staff (and all staff we met) were very friendly and nice. Hotel clean and modern. Our room was very spacious, laid out nicely, clean, and well appointed. Very nice to have a mini refrigerator (complete with 2 bottles of complimentary water!), a Keurig, AND an electric tea kettle!! Air conditioning (which was one of the "must haves" when we were looking for a hotel) worked great and was quiet. The bathroom had a tub/shower combination--great water pressure! A door could be closed to separate the toilet and shower area from the sink and vanity. Decent size closet with slider doors in the sink/vanity area. Our room was next to one of the elevators, but we did not hear any excess noise. As a matter of fact, there was a sign on the elevator indicating it was not in service between 11pm-7am--quiet time. This hotel was within walking distance of most everything we wanted to see. They have complimentary bicycle rentals for guests, although we did not use them. Complimentary breakfast was not included, but we ate breakfast at the restaurant adjacent to the lobby (London Tube) both mornings we were there. Good food, reasonably priced, friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay very much at this hotel, have no complaints, and would definitely stay here again the next time we are in Victoria.

"Fantastic Service in Downtown Victoria"
Michelle W, 12 Août 2016

This hotel is in easy walking distance of all the downtown attractions. The service from the hotel staff was spectacular. Our rooms had two beds and a full, but small kitchen which was nice. The service at the hotel restaurant was spotty, but there are lots of wonderful places to eat instead. Overall a great stay!

"In the heart of the city"
Denise F, 10 Août 2016

Very nicely appointed hotel by tons of shops and restaurants. The staff are polite and accommodating. It was our anniversary and they upgraded our room to a suite. It was a very nicely appointed, very clean room. The hotel is quiet but surrounded by lots to do. The staff recommended restaurants which we took advantage of and they were excellent! We will stay here again!

"Good location "
Sirhc007, 07 Août 2016

Great location that is not not over priced. The Family Suite is perfect for traveling families with extra room and a small kitchen perfect for coffee and breakfast. Parking is close by and is a breeze with the parking service. Surprising quiet location. Front desk staff are attentive to all your needs. A special thanks to Ross.

"Great location "
Maie K, 07 Août 2016

We spent 3 days in Victoria. This Best Western is very centrally located so was within walking distance of all the places we wanted to see. The staff were great - friendly and helpful. Our room was large and very comfortable. Price was very reasonable.

"Great customer service "
Jennifer L, 31 Juillet 2016

Spent one night in this hotel and was extremely pleased with the friendly and helpful customer service. We rented the complementary bikes and exploded Victoria based on the Staff's suggestions. Great hotel. Would definitely recommend.

"Very nice place."
oldmcdonald, 27 Juillet 2016

This hotel is well managed and very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful, couldn't find any faults with much at all. There was one minor problem with clothing left behind, but the hotel sent it immediately by expedited parcel post, and we had it back within 2 days. Amazing. Very accommodating to our specific needs.

"Friendly Service & Great Location "
Julie W, 26 Juillet 2016

This hotel is in the hub of a thriving area of the city, full of great shops and restaurants within walking distance, not to mention the beautiful waterfront! The valet service is prompt and reasonably priced. The staff is very helpful and responsive. Clean, attractive rooms with no noise from the hall or neighbouring rooms. Completely satisfied and appreciative!

"Friendly and accomodating staff"
189lil0, 26 Juillet 2016

The location of the hotel and the cleanliness of the rooms are top notch as usual. But more so, I was really impressed with the level of attention and care given by the hotel staff. You can come down to front desk and be assured that your needs will be listened to and the best possible service will be given. They are friendly, and geniunely like to chat with visitors and give them the best experience during their stay in Victoria. Their printers had no scanner function but they immediately offered to help me scan my files. They offered suggestions for things to do, and explained how their bike loan system worked. They even offered to grab my forgotten phone charger from the car! 100% would return to stay here!

"Perfect location, very nice staff, good family accommodation"
noelx4, 26 Juillet 2016

We spent 3 nights in a two-doubles-plus-sofabed suite with our two teens. This is a comfortable room that feels spacious. The front desk staff was very nice, with a special commendation to Cal, who made us feel welcome even when we had to wait a bit for our room. Linens feel nice and the beds were comfy, though a double feels small for two adults (we assumed the room was two queens--our mistake). A minor plumbing issue was fixed promptly and without fuss. The room felt fresh and clean, not worn or dated. Valet parking a bit of a hassle, but in this downtown space it's understandable. Also if you are a light sleeper, weekdays there seems to be dumpster collection or something around 6:30 am. We were on the 5th fl at the front and heard no appreciable street noise, but the dumpster rattling got me. To be fair, there were 3 other people in the room who weren't disturbed, but light sleepers--you know who you are! Also worth noting we got a great pre-paid rate at CAA. The front desk said they'd match it, but we had to "prove it" so it would be easier to stick with CAA booking. I've avoided Best Westerns, to be honest, because we have found tremendous quality variation across the brand, but this place was great, and will have me considering Best Westerns in the future.

"Best service"
okimmigrant, 24 Juillet 2016

This remodeled property is situated in a part of downtown perfect for tourists and visitors. It is in walking distance to most of the sights and restaurants that people come to Victoria to experience. This hotel staff was outstanding and all went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. The valet parking was nice and efficient. We were given complimentary water bottles that was a helpful convenience. The staff upgraded us to a king suite. Overall it was a really good experience and we were happy to spend our special week there.

"Great stay in Victoria"
texasnana3, 20 Juillet 2016

Very very nice. We booked hotel as part of Seattle Clipper overnight package to Victoria. Easy 20 minute walk to wharf, lots of shops and interesting people and views along the way. Hotel is clean, rooms comfortable and well appointed. We would definitely stay again if we come back. Desk staff was very friendly and helpful about where to eat, what to see .

"Best Western Victoria"
Steven H, 18 Juillet 2016

Great Boutique hotel in DT Victoria, walking distance to all the major DT sites, good restaurants. I found that the staff was very helpful in sharing knowledge about the local restaurants and the valet car parking service was very efficient.

"Fantastic Stay on a Multi-Generational Girl Trip"
dsfischer, 15 Juillet 2016

We chose the Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza for our 5 day trip to Victoria because of the excellent location and large room for 3 adults and 3 children under 3 years old. As soon as we pulled up to the hotel, the staff was so friendly and helpful as we unloaded 3 strollers and a never-ending number of suitcases! We were quickly checked into our spacious family suite by Annabelle while Maks helped us bring everything into the lobby. We turned over our car keys and our car was parked a half block away until we needed it again. We were given a map with directions to kid-friendly restaurants and attractions, as well as nearby markets. They have catered to the little kids and all of their recommendations have been big hits! The room is large, clean, and quiet and the hotel has a beautiful lobby. We would definitely stay here on future trips to Victoria.

"Very convenient location "
GuruMalik, 14 Juillet 2016

Newly renovated hotel. Hotel room are very neat & clean. Hotel located very central downtown Victoria. lots of Restaurants, pubs, tourist attractions & shopping mall around there. Hotel Staff are very polite & helpful in nature. Overall good stay.

"Great Location!"
sandragracie, 11 Juillet 2016

We had a great 3 night stay in this hotel. We upgraded our room a few days before arrival and were very pleased with the result. Our upgrade was to a family suite with a queen room. The extra room had a queen as well plus a couch, small dining table and a small kitchen area . We were able to fix our own breakfast and lunch making our stay more affordable as a family. The valet parking worked out well though at times it is difficult to get a temporary spot in front of the hotel. The location was great as we were within a 15 minute walk of many great tourist stops and restaurants . We will stay here again.

"Downtown Victoria Great Place"
Garry M, 11 Juillet 2016

friendly helpful staff and clean rooms, older hotel so room size and layout reflect that but definitely central and easy walk to everything downtown. Clean and pleasant! Did not hear city noise at night!!

"Victoria, BC hotel"
Scott S, 10 Juillet 2016

The Best Western Carlton Plaza is a very nice hotel right in the centre of downtown Victoria. It is within walking distance to all downtown and inner harbour attractions as well as many great restaurants, pubs, and galleries. The service we received at the Carlton Plaza was excellent. We were upgraded to a top floor suite, which had a private balcony with a bit of a view. there is no parking at the hotel, itself, but they offer a valet service and use a secure parkade about a block away. Overall, Best Western's hotels always seem to be well run, clean, and comfortable and offer fairly good value. Their Carlton Place hotel is all of those things.

"Well located so you can walk to the area with most of the tourist spots"
Ellen M, 09 Juillet 2016

The staff upon our arrival were friendly and helpful. There is no parking at the hotel, so all cars are valet parked at an additional $16 per day (CAN). They will retrieve your car as many times as you want it during your stay. The room was clean and well furnished with microwave, refrigerator, and Keurig coffee maker. There was a desk with good chair plus a second easy chair so we didn't have to sit on the bed in the evening. The TV stations were all analog - I don't know if Canada just hasn't gone to digital. There is an adjacent restaurant with meals at reasonable prices. The biggest plus for us was that the hotel is located within a 15 minute walk of almost everything you want to see as a tourist, There are many restaurants and banks near the hotel.

"Small room but nice and clean"
MJMCan, 08 Juillet 2016

Best Western is definitely our choice during family stays. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Rooms were on a smaller side but nice and clean. Very accommodating and right in the heart of downtown. We picked this hotel because of its location and we want to thank the staff for making our stay in Victoria memorable.

"Great Location!"
Zeswick, 08 Juillet 2016

A great Hotel in walking distance to everything. Central and inviting to explore Old Victoria by a nice walk. Staff are professional and very helpful. Clean upgraded rooms and over-all a pleasure to have stayed there.

"One of our best of our Best Westerns experiences"
Darlene H, 05 Juillet 2016

I looked at many hotels before deciding on this one, and I wasn't let down. The room was perfect for us, a little kitchenette, two queen beds and a sofa bed. The location was pretty great. About eight blocks from the harbor and all the bustle that surrounds it. We walked to the Parliament building, the Empress, the Royal BC Museum, the harbor cruise etc. All while leaving our car parked with Best Western (valet parking). We enjoyed the walk down Government Street back and forth, gave us plenty of souvenir shopping opportunities. It's also a quick walk to China town. There is a Seven Eleven across the street that we frequented daily as they had good coffee. :) The room really was great here. Quiet, clean, nicely and newly furnished. The staff were super. I'd definitely stay here again.

"Motorhome breakdown"
bsavina, 04 Juillet 2016

We broke down in Ellensburg Wa. Rented a car and stayed in Vctoria at the Best Western pet freindly. What a fun group. We had no luggage jus trash bags.It was a gut buster when we got there. Had issues with the door. Spent some time while it was getting repaired. It took a good part of the the afternoon while i sent my family shopping. Turned out to be worth while. I met Eric and Ramnent. Great people. I mean good people.Had awesome conversations while we waited for repairs. I didnt mind it and was glad i did have trouble otherwise i would have never met them guys. The main desk staff was so cool. Annabelle was always so understanding and helpful. The others who worked in the morning were awsome also. I didnt catch their names but if i ever see them in the states i would hug them and thank them again.

"Canada Day"
Catherine M, 04 Juillet 2016

This hotel, with a friendly staff, was very convenient to a lot of the Canada Day activities. Most were within walking distance. The restaurant served delicious breakfast. The staff there was very attentive and friendly. The hotel's decor was stylish and crisp. Room was very nicely appointed. No complaints!!! Would highly recommend.

"Central downtown location, very helpful staff"
Gardiner W, 04 Juillet 2016

In Victoria for a art gallery event, stayed at this absolutely centrally located property...we could walk everywhere to sights and restaurants. Very helpful and enthusiastic staff. No parking available but very affordable valet service available. We will be back

"Okay for the price "
Monica M, 03 Juillet 2016

The best western was nice, clean, and dog friendly. For the price though the hotel was just okay. Wifi barely worked and we were missing a shower curtain. If you get in late you also have no other option than to valley for $16. The staff was friendly and helpful.

"Pleasantly Surprised"
islandrockin, 01 Juillet 2016

I really enjoyed my stay here I wish it was longer. The staff are fantastic, the location is good, close to everything and the room was delightful. I checked into room 620 and upon check in the clerk told me it was his favorite room and it did not disappoint. It was a corner room with a king size bed that was very comfortable with the right size pilliws.Being the corner room it had a nice amount of windows and a nice view of Johnson St and Broad St. They offer valet parking at a very reasonable rate. Room 620 was on the top floor of this property and had a stove top and a fridge sink etc. with a nice size bathroom. Again the staff make the place. There is a restaurant on site that I did not try I would stay here again and plan to/

"Thoughtful, helpful staff who go the extra mile. Highly recommended"
AwayForAWhile77, 30 Juin 2016

I recently booked 2 elderly family members into this hotel with a note on the booking asking staff to be proactive in helping them find their way around / book tours / take extra good care of them for their 3 night stay. I wondered if I was asking too much from a hotel, but in short, my every request was more than catered for. The hotel staff were amazing and my aunt and uncle are still talking about it 5 days later and telling me what a wonderful time they had. They were met by Rebecca, the manager, when they checked in who upgraded their room. They told me that the staff could not have been more helpful, kind, friendly and informative. The hotel itself is in a great location, is excellent value for money, is clean and I have nothing negative to say about it. Thanks again for taking care of them, they had an unforgettable stay in a great place.

"Best Stay!"
ilovetravel13, 27 Juin 2016

Really loved the stay and comfort here on the 6 th floor. We have had a blue sunny skies view since yesterday. Front desk staff are extremely courteous and accommodating even when valet had to bring our car at 4 am this morning. Staying till Wednesday because we are finding it just like home. Will be back here for sure.

"Excellent location"
Jocar256, 26 Juin 2016

This is an older hotel but has been upgraded. The room was clean and modern. Also well done to housekeeping as on our second day the room appeared to have been completely tidied which is not always the case. I think we may have been given a disability room which was spacious with lots of hand rails in the bathroom. This proved quite useful at times!! Valet parking only but we found this fine as we gave notice when we wanted the car and it was always there for us. Quite convenient just to drop off your keys at Reception and forget about it.Only hassle we had was when arriving a tour bus was outside and there was no parking so had to go round the block a few times.Location was great, within easy walking distance of all attractions, restaurants etc. Staff were always pleasant and helpful. A great stay in a lovely city.

"Great location, awesome staff!"
Slayder54, 24 Juin 2016

Our stay here was great!! It's an older hotel and it shows however, the rooms are still nice, everything works, you've got a mini fridge, amazing king size bed and the AC works like a dream. For the price of this hotel and proximity to all the action I would highly recommend you stay here! Everything is walking distance and only a few short blocks to awesome restaurants, the harbour and the parliament building. The staff here were very friendly and willing to help with anything you may need, thank you for the great experience!!!

"Good Location but very ordinary experience"
Lawrie P, 23 Juin 2016

While this hotel seems to have made a lot of efforts to be more than it is I was quite disappointed in the room size and the amenities and the high price. The level of service was disappointing as we had clearly booked a three person stay and were given a two person room with limited space and seating. We had to request "extra" towels. The location was noisy and the glasses were plastic and limited in number. The room was casually cleaned and could have used another refreshing. Bathroom fixtures were out of date and barely worked.

"Great location, Pleasant stay"
Karen7929, 23 Juin 2016

Stopped in this hotel for just one night. It is very central in a great location. I had asked for a quiet room and was given a really nice room AND was upgraded! Valet parking so no hassle with trying to park car and the staff were extremely polite and helpful. Room and hotel were very clean and well equipped. I would definately stay again.

"Best Best Western I've Stayed In"
tritipisgood, 22 Juin 2016

This is not the nicest looking best Western I've ever seen. The people make this place happen. This is the best staff I have dealt with in a hotel and many, many years. Our room was supposed to be ready at 3 o'clock but wasn't. They upgraded us to a suite with a kitchenette. They did this at 3:06 PM. The location was within walking distance of anything in the entire, clean town. I would especially like to point out the efforts of a young lady named Cal who helped us with maps and generally how to get around town. She is extremely knowledgeable and couldn't have been more of a happy person to help us.

"Average for the money"
tomj895, 22 Juin 2016

I stayed at this hotel June 16 2016. The check in was slow, the hotel is clean and a nice location as it is close to everything being in the down town area. the problem I had was the room was small, the internet - I was able to connect but I was unable to access anything most of the time. The pillows were very small and very thin - worst then being at a holiday express. overall for the cost I thought it was average to below average.

"GREAT HOTEL IN DOWNTOWN"
Phantom41, 22 Juin 2016

Based on location we stayed here to walk around downtown victoria. Hotel was recommended on Trip Advisor. Hotel is very old but has been remodeled and the rooms are very modern and freshly done. Very good bed. Bathrooms a little small but adequate for the price. There is no parking but they offer free valet service, no tipping required. The best aspect of the hotel is the front staff. without exception, they were helpful, cheerful and professional. Among some of the best i have encountered and that includes The Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton where we often stay. The staff is worth the stay particularly if you are new to the city.

"BW Plus Victoria June 2016"
marie-josee m, 21 Juin 2016

Hotel clean and really friendly staff, however hotel being right downtown was a bit noisy at night, although provided with ears plugs, thin walls. That being said convenient of location to access most tourist attractions is great.

"Downtown Victoria"
Maria M, 18 Juin 2016

This hotel is clean, comfortable, and within walking distance to many downtown restaurants and sites. We've stayed here before but this time choose a suite. It had a complete kitchen and lost of room. I would highly recommend that option for a family.

"Best place for best price"
300aprilh, 15 Juin 2016

Reserved this room at the last minute but it was a great option. Perfect for our group. The room included two double beds and a sleeper sofa. The room was clean and the kitchen area was great for keeping snacks (we hadn't planned to cook) and warming up leftovers. The staff was great and very helpful with all our requests. The hotel is also located centrally downtown. We were able to walk from the Clipper and to the hop on hop off bus. There are also many great restaurants close to the hotel.

"Great staff great hotel!"
kitty1104, 12 Juin 2016

Stayed a weekend in early June, we arrived around noon and our room was not yet ready, the friendly staff assisted us put our suitcases away for check in later. She also gave a me few recommendations to tour the city. We got back around 3pm, our room is ready, Plus they gave us a free upgrade to a suite! The double beds suite was about 500 sq feet, fully equipped kitchen, dining and living area. The suite is spacious and clean. Our room face the back of the building, we get a back alley view of satellite dishes and trash bins. The location is convenient and surrounded by many good restaurants, a convenience store is right around the corner. It is about 6 blocks away, 10 minutes walk from inner harbour, with many shops, restaurants and market along the street. It is a short walk but I wouldn't recommend walking out there alone after dark. there are people at the street corners asking for money or minding their own business. Douglas street is right there and has all kind of public transit bus stop. it is very easy commute to up or downtown, and airport. They always have 3-4 staffs on site, although they are all young people but they are very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive.

"Great staff"
stricpa, 12 Juin 2016

My wife and I spent five nights at this hotel and would thoroughly recommend it, mainly because of the friendly and helpful staff, all of whom seemed committed to providing excellent customer service, with a smile. This really made a difference and more than compensated for the fact that our room was a bit gloomy and the bathroom fan was rather noisy - the bed was comfortable, though. We liked the fact that you could borrow a bicycle at no charge, and the valet parking worked well, at a cost of something like $16 a day. Breakfast was fine, but we did not try the restaurant in the evening. The hotel is well located, with plenty of shops and restaurants in the vicinity, and it only took us ten minutes or so to walk to the Inner Harbour area. We would happily stay there again.

"Noisy"
Richard A, 09 Juin 2016

Hammering and pressure washing outside of hotel at 8:00am. Called desk and work stopped for 5 minutes and then resumed. Desk claimed contractor was not supposed to begin until 9:30am. Noisy work at a hotel should never begin prior to 10:00am.

"As a local tourguide I tell you: You will nót find a better deal than this hotel ánd restaurant!!"
NicolevdBroekEhoven, 07 Juin 2016

As a local tourguide I travel all over the world. I have been in my fair share of hotels. So I can definately tell you what is good, bad and not worth visiting. The BW Carlton Hotel in Victoria? Great deal! I have stayed in this hotel many many years and many many times. It almost feels like coming home. The location of this hotel can nót be better! Everything you need is in crawling distance! There is a Seven Eleven across the street, a local supermarket around the corner, great restaurants in the two connecting main Streets (Douglas and Government Street) and you do not even need to go anywhere! Why not? The hotel has a great restaurant on site. It is called London Tube. You can have a good breakfast there and also perfect lunch or dinner. Try the Salmon Burger with fries! Delicious!! The staff of this hotel is more than friendly. They greet you upon arrival, are profesional and are willing to help you with anything. Just ask! If you would like to get some information about the city? The receptionist will give you detailed info. Do you want to book a whale tour? Ask the receptionist, they can book it immediately for you! They also have the latest updated info with what company has had whale sightings that morning! They are in contact with the suppliers. Do you need a bike? Talk to the receptionists; the hotel offers a free bike rental for 3 hours. Energy left? The hotel has a very good fitness room. Dirty clothes? The hotel has a laundry facility for two loonies with free soap. What I like more? It is a silenc hotel. So after 23:00 one of the two elevators shuts down and it is quiet in the rooms and on the floors. So you can enjoy your stay to the max here! The rooms? I have been in all rooms possible and the beds are great!! Some rooms have a small kitchen and the supermarket is close by. Otherwise there is a supermarket on Yates if you need more stuff. Do not think any further. Book this hotel, you will not regret it!

"Great Hotel within walking distance of most everything"
TheRichard26, 03 Juin 2016

This hotel is definitely within walking distance to most of downtown Victoria. The building is very clean with no visible wear and tear and all facilities are modern and up to date. I didn't get a chance to use the workout facilities, but the room looked very accommodating. For those who want to explore Victoria without driving, the hotel offers complimentary bicycles (with helmets) for this bicycle friendly city. For those tourists from Seattle taking the Victoria Clipper, consider an overnight package offered by the Clipper and get a great room for almost half price. Additionally, if you have status with Best Western you can get an upgraded to a room with cooking facilities . Didn't eat at The Tube restaurant, but the menu looked very good. Even though there is no free overnight street parking, valet parking at $7.50 nightly is well worth it. Brandon at the front desk was very accommodating and went that extra mile to make our visit a pleasant one.

"Weekend in Victoria"
thomasrG9683WU, 02 Juin 2016

Great location in downtown Victoria. Bikes are available to use at no charge, valet parking is a bonus and reasonably priced. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Didn't try the hotel restaurant, but there are many options around the hotel.

"Convenient hotel within walking distance of shops, eateries and sights."
Barbara R, 29 Mai 2016

Excellent service and assistance from front office staff, including tour bookings. Would use this hotel again for this reason, as well as its proximity to the CBD, and historical sights. Easy walking to shops and eateries.

"Nice Hotel!"
Pamela B, 27 Mai 2016

This hotel was clean, quiet and affordable. I picked it online because they had bikes to borrow (we loved riding them) and was right on the bus line, which was so easy to do! Downtown Victoria was within walking distance....they had excellent service with a smile.

"Good place to stay"
fidelisamicus, 25 Mai 2016

Very convenient, near the center of Victoria. Walking distance from 7-11, a few bars and china town. Staff are nice and friendly. Only drawback is that there's no free parking, all available spaces are meter parking and valet is about 7dollars per night.

"A home away from home !"
JuneWR, 21 Mai 2016

I booked a suite at this hotel and it was MORE THAN ADEQUATE. Immaculately clean --obviously maintained to excellent standard. Full kitchen, sitting room area with sleep sofa, 2 queen beds, large screen TV, room SAFE, large closet with mirrored doors.. the BEST SHOWER of my trip. FRONT DESK staff went ABOVE AND BEYOND to solve problems (banking laws in CANADA have CHANGED) very convenient computer access in the lobby along with nice sitting area (with a grand piano). good restaurant off the lobby -- SUPER LOCATION --if you GO to VICTORIA this is a very NICE place to call HOME !

"Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Nice Hotel"
debrag1957, 21 Mai 2016

This an excellent hotel when visiting the Victoria area. The staff are very friendly and efficient, the rooms are comfortable and beds better than many hotels I have stayed in. One day, my room had not been cleaned, I consider this an oversight and would not hinder me from staying at this hotel again or recommending it to friends and family. I would suggest the management is good quality, which makes a difference to the visitor. Thanks Best Western!

"Week vacation"
free2be2015, 20 Mai 2016

Nice hotel and good rates. Excellent staff and manager. Walking distance to shops and tourist attractions. Clean and accessible rooms. Would stay again in a room on the south and top floor due to night club noise on west side.

"Nice staff and location"
Malcolm W, 17 Mai 2016

Room was nice and clean, but a bit on the small side. Location is good, close to shops and restaurants. Television channels were minimal with no music channels and did not have local channel from nearby Bellingham Washington. Front desk staff and housekeepers were all friendly and courteous. Would consider staying again.

"Carlton Plaza - Victoria"
DebStorey, 10 Mai 2016

I can't say enough good things about this hotel, for the value and quality we received, location, nice rooms, great food in the restaurant, and above all the fantastic staff service! I really can't wait to come back!

"Hotel"
Bruce J, 08 Mai 2016

Excellent hotel with good rates. Will definitely stay again! The staff in particular we're excellent. They seemed to genuinely want to assist without at all looking put out. I found the rooms to be clean and quite comfortable with all the amenities appropriate to this price range. Would be glad to recommend!

"Worth every dime"
Kristine D, 06 Mai 2016

Great location right between busy Douglas Street and posh/beautiful Government street. Head down to the water or back a couple blocks to chinatown. Location couldn't be better Staff are great and chatty and accommodating. Rooms were spacious and really nicely presented. No regrets.

"Warm , Effective & Efficient"
Neill M, 29 Avril 2016

Late arrival, welcomed warmly, reception clerk looked up my Best Western card number, added points - I didn't have to ask. Car valet service was prompt and courteous. Suite was scrupulously clean, new bathroom fitments. No fuss WIFI. WONDERFUL bed - slept like a stump! Highly recommended.

"5 star customer service "
anniely, 24 Avril 2016

The hotel exceeded my expectation. It is located in downtown. It is a 20 min walk to the inner harbor and a short walk to all of the restaurants. All of the staffs were very nice and helpful. Cal, Justin, and the other staffs at the front desk were extremely helpful. They made our stay very enjoyable. I liked that the hotel offer free water and bike rental. For 2 days my sister and I took the bikes out at 6am to catch the sunrise at the Oak bay marina. It is a wonderful perk. I will definitely stay here again.

"Perfect hotel and location"
chiantiam, 21 Avril 2016

We were really impressed with this hotel. The rates are reasonable for a downtown hotel in a tourist city, and the valet service is wonderful. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful, and our room was top notch. The location is within walking distance to the beautiful inner harbour, and great restaurants and shops are only minutes away.

"Great downtown location in Victoria BC"
747goodlife, 20 Avril 2016

This hotel was recommended by The Best Western Uptown Hotel in Vancouver,so when we decided to go for an overnight trip to Victoria,I made reservation through Hotels.com and stayed for one night.I asked for a room that will accommodate 3 people, but we ended up with just 2 people and still they upgraded us to a suite when we checked in, that was nice of them... the front desk staff were friendly and guests can only get to the elevator if they insert their room keys, thats great for security from people just going up... the hotel is near bus stops, restaurants ,shopping centers and walking distance to a church we went to, thats a plus. The suite has a kitchen complete with dishes ,coffee maker, fridge, microwave and spacious TV room with sofas and armchair. There's a restaurant that serves the best Egg Benedict next door called London City .

"Great Location"
Kathleen C, 20 Avril 2016

My husband and I just spent a month at The Best Western Carlton Plaza and were more than pleased . The location is perfect and the staff were wonderful . We felt more like family than guests . Our room was spacious ,with a kitchenette and everything that we needed. We will definitely stay there again

"A Good Choice & Good Value"
Laura_Alberta, 19 Avril 2016

This hotel offers a great location in downtown Victoria. You have just a few minutes walk to all the major attractions such as the Royal BC museum, the waterfront, restaurants and shopping etc. The hotel offers very reasonably priced Valet parking. We dropped our car at the front door and were charged just $7.00 per 24 hr period. There was no problem getting the car out when we needed it and then leaving it again with the valet when we were done. We would call down 10 min before we needed it and the car was always parked out front and ready to go by the time we got to the lobby. We found the staff to be very friendly, respectful and helpful. There was someone at the desk at all hours and they promptly helped with anything we needed, from directions to locating needed items. The hotel offers free bikes to lend. If you would like to pedal about the city for the afternoon, you can sign out a bike and needed equipment. We were able to book a one bedroom suite with a complete kitchen for 2 nights for a very reasonable price. The rooms were clean and in good repair. This hotel is not luxurious but I found it to be well run and nicely appointed for a mid-range, family hotel. Definitely a great value. Also - Free wi-fi

"Great location and great staff"
Cvkexplores, 19 Avril 2016

I was originally concerned about using best western for a recent business trip but was recommended this by our Victoria office due to close proximity to the office. I was pleasantly surprised by a number of things. GREAT helpful staff!! Great location to downtown, Beds were very nice new and very comfortable. And little extras like free bike rental which I took advantage of to bike around the city when I first arrived. All in all it was excellent!

"Amazing Location"
Wish_I_was_on_a_trip, 12 Avril 2016

This hotel is by far the best location to EVERYTHING in downtown Victoria We let the Valet park our car and picked it up two days later when we checked out. Everything around the downtown area is within walking distance to this hotel All the staff were wonderful and so helpful. I think we had the nicest room I've seen in a long time (and we stayed at the Grand last time we were there).

"convenient location and great value for the money"
sonata_in_B, 08 Avril 2016

The hotel looks nice and very conveniently located near city hall, 5-10 minutes downtown street walking to the famous legislation building landmark. As all the hotels in downtown area, the room is small yet manageable. I love the k-cup coffee machine in the room. The service is good but not great as I found one long hair on the bathroom floor corner, and the room service forgot to refill the face tissue the 2nd day. Hotel provides valet parking and very reasonable surcharge CAD$7.75. For ~USD$110 per night, I recommend this hotel without a doubt.

"Happy, positive staff!"
Colleen H, 07 Avril 2016

We stayed here for 8 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel is in a great location - you can walk to everything if you like. The beds are comfortable and the staff was always so friendly, accommodating and helpful. Not a single complaint!

"Great option"
kevin_from_AKandCO, 06 Avril 2016

No real complaints with my 1 night stay here. Staff was great. Room was very nice, and really clean. Bed was super comfortable. I was worried about street noise but in the end it wasn't a problem. Free bikes for rent were really nice. If you want to be close to all the downtown amenities this place delivers. Negatives? Pretty minor. Elevator is REALLY slow, and I saw no way to take stairs from/to lobby. Bikes are only women's frames, so guys might feel awkward riding a 'girls' bike. If you sleep light street noise in the morning could be a problem, though it wasn't an issue for me. Overall? Heck yeah I would stay here again. Price was very fair for the quality and location.

"Very helpful and happy staff"
Rose R, 05 Avril 2016

We have stayed in this hotel twice and the staff are amazing, the room are very clean and very comfortable beds. Pet friendly.... I travel with my pet everywhere so it's important for me.Rooms have kitchen with full size fridge. So convenient to walk downtown...

"Great location! Bad experience."
Nuno G, 02 Avril 2016

Great location, cozy room, early check in authorized, pleasant staff. Excellent price for a downtown hotel. But! but after 6 am you can't sleep, garbage collection under the hotel and traffic are a killer.(Room #322)

"Good value for a downtown hotel."
Marty M, 01 Avril 2016

We stayed here for 8 days . The staff was awesome, friendly and helpful. It is a great location downtown. Walking distance to all the wonderful restaurants and attractions downtown. Matter of fact you don't need a car here. My only real complaint is it took them until 4-5pm to clean the room every day. It was hard to relax siting for the maids. They may have been short staff the week we were here

"great location !!"
Laura T, 29 Mars 2016

great location and the staff was excellent. Room was ready upon arrival (early) and upgraded to suite. Staff had great recommendations for restaurants. Everything was within walking distance to hotel.

"Good hotel, great location"
Milan S, 29 Mars 2016

Stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the hotel facilities and location. No complains except some minor bathroom issues. Staff was very friendly, prompt and professional. Rooms are well equipped and quiet. Location is wonderful, in downtown Victoria and close to the BC Legislature

"Great service"
klyon82, 21 Mars 2016

The staff at this hotel was very friendly and prompt. The valet parking was quick and easy. Although the room was small, it was clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is near restaurants, the harbour and stores. All within walking distance. They even have bikes to sign out for a couple hours (we didn't have time, but sounded fun!). Reasonably priced.

"Always great"
Karen B, 21 Mars 2016

I have been to the Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Hotel in Victoria many times and have never been disappointed with the experience, the staff is great, the rooms are clean and bright and well furnished, the beds are very comfortable. The rooms always smell fresh and clean. This hotel is situated right downtown within walking distance of the Empress, BC Royal Museum, the Harbour and many great shops and restaurants. Christmas is especially magical! I would highly recommend!

"Good value"
Paula R, 20 Mars 2016

Clean and comfortable hotel in the heart of the city. Great beds and some recent updates in room. Easy to walk anywhere downtown. Only issue is no hotel parking and sometimes hard to find a spot in front. Also they park your vehicle and charge an overnight fee.

"Great location, friendly and helpful staff"
Rosa V, 18 Mars 2016

This hotel is very close to the bus route for the ferry and just a short walk to the harbor. The staff was friendly, helpful and genuinely seemed to enjoy their job. Beds were very comfortable, and the room was clean, but a bit small. But fine for the two of us. This hotel was a very good value and I will stay here again.

"Great staff for comfortable stay in Victoria"
Martha M, 17 Mars 2016

All the staff went out of their way to meet our needs. They were friendly and helpful always. Location is perfect for walking to restaurants and other downtown attractions. One of us twisted and ankle and Ross, instead if just getting a bag for ice, filled it for us and brought it to the front desk to save us a trip to the ice machine...very thoughtful young man.

"family oriented"
Joseph B, 13 Mars 2016

the hotel is centrally located, close to shopping, walking distance to the main city attractions , suited for families and seniors. The staff is caring in every aspect of the business, ready to do the little extras the client requests .

"Lovely stay with great customer service"
Leognano, 12 Mars 2016

This is an excellent location for exploring Victoria and walking distance to the harbour and many restaurants and attractions. We were notified in advance via text message regarding a room change (due to maintenance) and were kindly offered breakfast vouchers for the minor inconvenience. We appreciated the gesture and would have been happy with a simple breakfast, but were delighted to find we could order Eggs Benedict and French toast with Caramel and Bananas! Well done London Tube restaurant! Staff in the restaurant and throughout the hotel were always smiling and happily greeted guests.

"Great location"
Beuci2016, 10 Mars 2016

Great location; close to everything we wanted to see; staff was friendly and helpful; clean and quiet room. I can't think of anything that would have made the experience better; we loved the hotel, and the restaurant next door that delivered breakfast; next time we'll come to Victoria, we'll stay at this hotel again!

"Excellent value!"
Margaritamom, 06 Mars 2016

Very nice room (one queen) with a comfortable bed, a mini fridge and a flat screen TV. The room had a keurig coffee maker and they sell pods a block up at the 7-11 if you want more for your room (plus milk/cream). Staff were very nice when checking in and out. Excellent location - within walking distance of the water and everything else downtown.

"Great staff great value"
Yves G, 05 Mars 2016

Central location for the downtown tourist attractions. Only $5.00 for taxi ride to Empress or Parliament buildings. Staff are very helpful and the parking rate is so fair. The family run restaurant (London Underground) has great food and lovely staff.

"Walking distance to the harbour"
Melanie L, 02 Mars 2016

Unless you have a secret parking spot, you have to use the valet parking, for $7.50/day. You do have in/out privileges, but then you have to tip each time. The person working the front desk wasn't able to tell me if we could park ourselves, as the parkade was just up the road. I think if you do, you pay for parking each time you leave. There are bikes in the lobby and umbrellas in the lobby for use at no cost. The heater/ac in the room was dripping our first night. I mentioned it as we were leaving the next day, and they fixed it before we got back later in the day. Overall, the staff were friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable.

"Location, service and value at Best Western PLUS Carlton Plaza"
Bob M, 01 Mars 2016

I enjoyed my recent visit to Victoria, BC, staying at the Best Western PLUS Carlton Plaza Hotel. It was excellent value with pleasant and competent service, located close to all amenities in central Victoria. I especially enjoyed the use of a complimentary bicycle for touring Victoria. It was well maintained and a great way to see the sites. I would stay here again.

"nice place - a bit shaky at 04:00 (street people)"
ctagCanada, 27 Février 2016

clean, comfortable, pleasant staff, weir elevator system, next-door restaurant is moderate or average with excellent service. trip advisor is silly in asking me to keep on adding words. trip advisor should learn that less is more.

"Over nighter in Victoria, B. C."
458Dennis, 24 Février 2016

We arrived from the Clipper at around 11:00 AM and there was no problem checking in early. The front desk was very friendly and let us into our room on the third floor. The room was very nice and clean. The only thing wrong was there was a lot of street noise. We walked around town so much that we had no trouble sleeping. China town is only one block away so we checked it out and we also went to the Cinamax to see a few movies because it was raining. I would stay there again.

"Good Business Base Hotel"
George J, 21 Février 2016

Stayed here for one night during a business trip to Victoria. Centrally located, And very affordable, this hotel puts you right downtown Victoria, although if you're driving, you have to use their valet service to park which costs an additional $$ per night. The rooms are very comfortable with all the amenities you would expect from a Best Western. A hidden bonus is the in-house restaurant called "London Tube". Very good food, very good service and if you like english banger sausages, this is the place for breakfast!

"comfortable and quiet"
tedguthrie454, 20 Février 2016

There were two of us and we had two queen beds which made it very comfortable . The location made it easy to get around and staff were very friendly and helpfull. Room was very clean and comfortable. An old building which has been renovated and updated.

"Visit to Victoria"
Sandra E, 16 Février 2016

Hotel was excellent for price; great location, friendly staff and very spacious room with little kitchenette which was an unexpected surprise. They even had umbrellas for use in the lobby. Enjoyed stay thoroughly though it was brief.

"consistent value and accomodtions"
JamesVA700, 09 Février 2016

They need a ashtray for cigar and cigarette smokers out front - I did not want to set the city garbage can on fire. I think an area designated for smokers with a big yellow line around would be nice, then you don't get the "ewww put that out" look from pedestrians. The Hotel is clean and staff excellent No pay TV movies however - but apparently they will have them some time soon. This was a big one as we had planned a day of just hanging in the room watching Super bowl and a movie

"Girls Getaway"
Sunshine8413, 08 Février 2016

My sister and I came for a girls weekend.Bronte the girl at the front desk was so friendly and very helpful. Every staff member we came in contact with were nice made us feel so welcome. I will be back to stay there in the furture.

"a great find"
horsewell, 08 Février 2016

We arrived about 10:30 am too early to check in but we wondered whether we can have our car parked despite, with extra charge. The desk attendant responded with your room may be ready but it was not so she upgraded the room to a studio with kitchen and a sitting room and checked us in plus have the valet park our car. What a service. The hotel is located in part of downtown and easily walkable to the whole downtown, We were comfortable and had a good night's sleep, We were thrilled with the service and to find this hotel..

"LOVE VICTORIA"
VicnJen67, 07 Février 2016

Visited Victoria for three nights after five weeks on the road. Kindly gifted some nights at Carlton Plaza by family. Room was very large with seating area, kitchen table and full kitchen. Room was well presented and very clean. Only comment re equipment in the room was maybe some wine glasses could be added. Staff friendly and helpful. Bikes to be borrowed at no cost were great. Restaurant OK but if you want an amazing breakfast experience catch a cab to the Empress. Hate to comment negatively about something that is beyond the control of the staff/hotel but this place was insanely noisy. I am ok with city noises and people going to and from bars and am a heavy sleeper but was woken every morning by rubbish collections, homeless people fighting and some idiot just sitting outside the hotel with his horn blaring at 04.30. If sleeping in is important to you I suggest you try somewhere else or get a room that does not face Johnson Street.

"We enjoyed our stay"
Kim N, 01 Février 2016

This is a nice hotel in a fantastic location. The staff was super and everything was clean and qiuet. It is an old hotel in the historic downtown area in walking distance to almost everything you would like to see or do. The interior could use some updating. Carpets, furniture etc. look pretty old and the rooms are fairly dim.

"Good price, good location ....."
Nigelat1088, 29 Janvier 2016

We were in Victoria for one overnight and this was a perfect location and a very reasonable price. All staff were very friendly & helpful. Room was clean and although not overly spacious it was more than adequate for an overnight.

"great hotel at a great price"
Elizabeth B, 27 Janvier 2016

We had a lovely stay in Victoria at this hotel. the hotel and room were clean, the staff professional and helpful; the location handy and central for all our needs. All this and a very affordable price!

"Great room for business travel"
Stan N, 25 Janvier 2016

Traveled for business to the Victoria. Very freindly and helpful staff to get you checked in and out. The new text greeting and communications with the front desk was great. Quick and simple. The valet car service is what all hotels should look for. A definite place to stay.

"A lovely stopover!!"
LandAirSea, 25 Janvier 2016

This beautiful hotel is just steps from everything in downtown in beautiful Victoria where there is SO much to see.! We booked for one night as we were heading back to Ontario the next afternoon. We enjoyed a corner suite with great views and walking distance to everything. The king size bed was oh-so comfy and the small kitchen was a real perk. This hotel is very clean, lots of towels, hot water .... all essentials necessary for a great stay. We appreciated the valet parking and that, after we had checked out the next day, they let us leave our car there for most of the day at NO extra charge so we could go sightseeing before our return to the airport. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, giving us tips of things to see while sight seeing in Victoria. There is a good restaurant on site (breakfast is NOT included) and the hotel location is just steps away from lots of wonderful shopping and dining experiences. My husband and I enjoyed all of this for less than $100. Yes, we will definitely stay here again!!!!

"Great Location and Staff"
Terry L, 24 Janvier 2016

Have stayed on several occasions at the Carlton Plaza Best Westerm Hotel in Victoria Staff are very service oriented and the location of the hotel to downtown is excellent. Hotel is also very near movie complex, shopping and restaurants plus a few good pubs.

"Victoria Business Trip"
Brian W, 21 Janvier 2016

Excellent staff and service. This hotel has an awesome restaurant attached which makes a great breakfast to start off your busy day! I would recommend this hotel for its overall experience and location. This place would be great to stay at in the summer!

"Great location!"
roadtripbound, 20 Janvier 2016

This is a solid 3 star property that is located in a great area to explore Victoria. Close to shops, restaurants and the inner harbour. Friendly efficient staff and clean comfortable room. We would stay here again.

"Great Place to Stay"
Andrew A, 12 Janvier 2016

Great location, friendly staff and clean room. In house internet was the best (among other hotels) in terms of speed and connectivity. Valet paring is a most, so I recommend you just park the car and take advantage of their free bike rental to tour the city!

"New Year's Eve stay in Victoria, BC"
ArtPhemister, 11 Janvier 2016

We stayed one night at the Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Hotel and found it very comfortable. We booked through Hotels.com and apparently got a nice deal compared to what we heard from another couple who were checking out at the same time we were. They paid three times as much as we did for one night. The hotel check in was fast and convenient. We had a room on the sixth floor right across from the elevator which worried me because of potential noise, but we stayed and the noise was negligible. The bed was very comfortable and we got a good night's sleep. I would recommend this hotel when in Victoria. It is conveniently located to all downtown attractions and events.

"Best of Victoria BC!"
Joseph J, 06 Janvier 2016

The front desk helped us find the hours of a local bank & wanted take us to the corner to show us where it was, we knew but he was really helpful. All the front desk staff greeted us on every return, some even by name! They valet staff were fantastic! We left a cell phone in the car by accident & they retrieved it in below zero weather. Cleaning staff did a great job. This hotel is a little out of the tourist area in Victoria but well worth a stay there! Overall everyone worked hard to make our stay perfect, even on New Years!

"Mostly Good"
BrianArabsky, 05 Janvier 2016

We spent a night here recently, then after a ferry cancellation, ended up at the Harbour Towne for one night as well (see my separate review of that). This is a older property with fairly recent updates. Here are the highlights of our stay. 1. Service was impecable. Even with a lost reservation and a complete sell-out, we were taken care of in a timely fashion. Always greeted at the front entrance with a hello. 2. Location - right in the middle of everything. Lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance, and fast food like 7-11, Timmy's and Starbucks. Lots of shopping nearby as well. 3. Condition is above average - rooms are standard size, lots of pillows on the bed, coffee maker and closet. Room was clean but bathroom layout is quite dated. The area, although close to everything, is not the best. There are plenty of panhandlers about. They did not interfere with our enjoyment of the downtown, but people should be made aware. Parking is paid but reasonable. If you are expecting this you won't be disappointed.

"Location and service - a value for money stay"
WestcoastJim, 04 Janvier 2016

Great staff. Exceptional General Manager! Location is a key aspect of this very well-run hotel. Parking at hotels in Victoria can be pricey - here the $7.50 per day valet service is truly a bargain and a convenience. That you can leave your vehicle for the day you check-out is commendable. I simply do not believe there is a better value for money hotel in the city.

"Great stay and great location!"
ARF6778, 01 Janvier 2016

We really enjoyed our stay here for New Years Eve. The hotel service is wonderful and helpful. First, the hotel is in a great location off of government street and around the corner from Chinatown. There are lots of shops, restaurants and bars nearby. We could easily walk to everything. The rooms were clean and a good size. We really enjoyed our stay here and would absolutely stay again and recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel with a great location for a great price.

"Great location"
Penny S, 01 Janvier 2016

The hotel is in a great location for visiting Victoria. It's very easy to walk around, the stores in the area and the Inner Harbour are quite close. The hotel staff are very friendly and efficient. The bed was very comfortable.

"Great Staff! Great Location! Great Hotel for a Great Price!!"
CJ1502, 30 Décembre 2015

I came to Victoria from December 23rd to December 29th to spend Christmas with my son and daughter who both live in Victoria, and was looking for a place that the three of us could spend quality time together. I had received a very good price for a room with two double beds and a fold out couch from Trivago, but I decided to call the hotel directly. Chiaki at the Front Desk beat Trivago by about $14/ night. Upon my arrival on the 23rd, it was nice to meet Chiaki and personally thank her for getting me such a good deal. The suite was about 500 square feet with 2 very comfortable double beds, and a fold out couch that my son found comfortable enough to sleep in. It had a small kitchen with everything that you needed to make meals so we went to the Market on Yates (about 3 blocks away), and got a bunch of groceries so we could eat breakfasts and some lunches in the room. With this hotel being basically on the corner of Douglas and Johnson you are very centrally located downtown, so there is no problem walking everywhere that you have to go. Restaurants, Shopping, Chinatown, Market Square, Government Street, Wharf Street, churches, etc., all within a few blocks. The Bay Centre is only 2 blocks away. The only staff that we interacted with were the Front Desk Staff and Room Cleaning Staff, and they were all very helpful and friendly! On Christmas Day morning because there was not too much open, the hotel put out in the lobby, Coffee, Tea, bottle water, juice drink boxes, small yogurts, apple and raisin danishes, apples, and bananas. What a nice touch that was for breakfast if someone was in a normal room and didn't have food in their room, vs. going across the street to Burger King! The hotel also has a rack of umbrellas in the lobby, which came in very helpful a couple of times, because we didn't see the sun very much while I was there! Overall the hotel was great to stay in, and I would definitely stay here again the next time I come to visit my son and daughter. But, there are a few things that I feel I have to mention, and hopefully the hotel will try to rectify these problems in Suite 401: - The heater in the room is very loud when it kicks in, especially for the person sleeping on the fold out couch, because it is right overtop of you. - Water temperature in the sink and bath tub is very cold for a long time. The hotel is only 7 stories I believe. It shouldn't take that long for hot water to get to the fourth floor. Water in the sink most times felt like ice water, and if you try showering or bathing in the morning, the water sometimes is only lukewarm. - Condensation in the rooms- When you take a shower, the mirror is all steamed up, and there is condensation on the toilet, sink, etc. Even the toilet paper roll feels damp. Running the fan doesn't seem to make much difference. - If you don't keep the bathroom door propped open at night, it is freezing in the bathroom by morning. There must be a way to get some heat into the bathroom. Showering in lukewarm water in a cold bathroom at 5:30 AM the morning I left, was not enjoyable. All in all, the few negative things couldn't take anything away from all of the positives that this hotel has going for it! Give it a try, and you will be very pleased.

"Great Location in Downtown Victoria"
SER1840, 29 Décembre 2015

We were in Victoria from Dec. 26 to Dec. 28. Best Western Hotel is far less expensive than other hotels we priced in the area, but there is no drop in quality. It is conveniently located within downtown Victoria, just a couple blocks from Government Street. The hotel staff is friendly and courteous. I would recommend this hotel to travelers with a family, as we had a reasonably priced king bed suite with a kitchen, which is invaluable with a small child. If you're a comic book fan, there are about half a dozen shops across the street on Johnson. I'd also recommend this hotel to couples and singles on a friends weekend.

"Average hotel, terrible parking situation"
navzob, 29 Décembre 2015

Hotel location is OK with average amenities. The parking situation however is quite messed up here. Why would you offer valet only parking if you are under staff and slow? First you have to park your car somewhere around the hotel, pay for parking and give your key and parking slip to the reception for valet parking. They will then send someone to find your car and park it apparently somewhere far from the hotel. It takes 15 min for them to retrieve your car the next day. If your party has more than one car, it will be a long wait to get your cars. If you don't have a car and looking for a cheap stay, this is your basic average hotel. If you have a car, seek elsewhere.

"Next Time Would Spend More for Upgrade Package "
Smerks, 28 Décembre 2015

Came here as part of Victoria Clipper package. This hotel was okay for the $$ but next time would pay extra to stay at or nearer the hotel where the excursions and other package trips left from. Elevator noise mentioned by others not a problem if you're out of the room; elevator is closed from 11p to 7 a. (we were right across from the elevator and when it did run while we were in the room it kind of sounded like a trash truck processing but was not a bother at night). Hot water not really hot at all when showering at 10 am and no shampoo in shower dispenser. Front desk staff SUPER nice and efficient, let us check in early. Overall, good value for the money; old building as most of Victoria is.

"The best of Best Western"
Leah S, 23 Décembre 2015

The hotel staff is exceptional. Very clean. Loaner umbrellas and bikes. Centrally located downtown in walking distances to good restaurants and shopping. I will always stay at a Best Western over any other hotel chain and the Best Western Carlton is a shining example of why.

"Good location for a weekend getaway"
SeaWAgirl5, 16 Décembre 2015

We booked this hotel as part of the Clipper Vacations package. It was a great location, centrally located and easy to get to the waterfront where the Victoria Clipper docked. Our ship from Seattle arrived earlier than the check in time, but our room was ready when we arrived at the hotel (we were probably there in off peak season though, at the end of October). The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel offered luggage storage, so we were able to leave our overnight bags after checking out the following day to go and explore more of Victoria, which was fantastic. The room was a good size for the two of us. It was right across from one of the elevators. The only real drawback to the room was the room to hall sound-proofing was just adequate. There were some teenage boys right outside our room that were noisy at one point, but they quieted down and the rest of the night was fine. I'd definitely consider staying here again the next time I'm in Victoria We had breakfast in the restaurant attached to the hotel, the London Tube. I'd highly recommend it. There was a nice selection, the prices were reasonable, and service was good. (This kid in me also liked how the staff were dressed in Halloween costumes). They also offer an Afternoon Tea there, as well as traditional British pub food for lunch/dinner (I would've gone there for dinner the previous night if we had known that).

"Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Hotel, Victoria"
Rod M, 16 Décembre 2015

Excellent stay with friendly staff, close to all shopping in the downtown area, restaurants close by. Did find the beds to be a little to soft for me though. Nice little Restaurant next door for an early morning breakfast. Valle Parking was extremely quick in getting my vehicle out for me when I checked out.

"Ok Hotel"
SPokaneSean, 13 Décembre 2015

The hotel was clean and beds were comfortable, staff was very friendly. Very close to all downtown Victoria has to offer. If you are looking for luxury go somewhere else. The rooms were small and temperature was very hard to regulate. Open the window and freeze and deal with the noise. Turn on the A/C and deal with the noise. The good thing for us we were out from early in the AM to late in the evening. So it was good for use but very close quarters for our family of 4.

"Good Central Choice"
Ted M, 09 Décembre 2015

Booked a room on line for two nights. Hotel indicated they would match the price. Arrived early (11:30) but the room was available. Great friendly staff, $100 hold placed on credit card removed on check out. Room small but nicely appointed with very comfortable firm beds, TV, coffee maker, iron and board, in room safe, free fast Wi-Fi, air conditioned, decent in-tub shower, alarm clock/radio, decent towelling and the hotel is central to all Victoria's downtown has to offer. Decided to have happy hour in the room so requested a couple of wine glasses and they arrived within 2 minutes. Lovely! Room service does an excellent job of keeping the room clean. Carlton Plaza would be a good choice for a Victoria visit.

"One of the best Best Westerns we've stayed at"

Super convenient location, clean, quiet and beautiful rooms and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We were really impressed with this hotel and were able to walk to everything we needed. It has such a nice heritage feel too!

"above and beyond"

Well appointed room. Very helpful staff. Excellent location for shopping and restaurants. Convenient valet parking service. We highly recommend this place for a wonderful downtown experience that still allows for a very quiet room and an excellent sleep.

"I Would Absolutely Recommend this Hotel"

The hotel staff were awesome!! So so friendly! The rooms were large and spacious. It is located downtown, right in the heart of the shopping and restaurant district, There valet parking was so convenient and inexpensive! I am so glad that I go this hotel through Hotwire!!

"It was OK"
Mdashdashdash, 29 Novembre 2015

The room was very clean, which was nice. There was a prominent humming sound whenever anybody used the elevator (thankfully they shut down the elevator at 11pm). The bathtub didn't drain properly. The hotel staff were all fantastic.

"Great Hotel in Victoria"
Darlene K, 25 Novembre 2015

Great hotel, would stay at it again definitely! Love the location and there are many great restaurants and coffee houses to enjoy. It is also a short walk to the water and Parliament buildings which are amazing to view when darkness falls.

"Great hotel"
Savana C, 23 Novembre 2015

The Best Western Carlton Plaza hotel is my go-to for business trips in Victoria. The rooms are always clean, comfortable, and spacious. The staff are always available and so friendly and helpful. In addition, the hotel has a great downtown location that is close to restaurants, convenience stores, shopping, and the highway. I would highly recommend this hotel for either business or pleasure.

"Great Staff and Hotel"
Doug S, 19 Novembre 2015

From the moment we checked in the staff were excellent, friendly, knowledgeable, always willing to help. The pet friendly rooms were great and no issue at all. The room with a small kitchen unit was very handy, the room was upgraded so very nice, clean and lots of room. The hotel provided new bicycles to use, umbrellas by front door and valet parking which was great for low cost. A very well run and organized hotel. This was our first stay at this hotel and would stay again and would recommend to anyone without question. Great location close to waterfront/downtown so lots to do. The parliament building is a must see and lots of great restaurants close by. Again the staff were great!

"Good Location"
Lyric21, 12 Novembre 2015

My husband and I love to visit Victoria and go for long walks along the inner harbour, Fishermans Wharf, Ogden Point and Beacon Hill Park. This hotel was in a great location close to all the sites we enjoy visiting. The room itself was basic, clean and the king bed and pillows were very comfy. Valet parking was great and convenient. Didn't need to drive anywhere once we checked in as there are so many excellent restaurants and sites within walking distance such as the Parliament Buildings, Royal BC Museum and the IMAX Theatre. Would stay here again for sure while visiting Victoria.

"Clean, Friendly, Excellent Value"
World_Wanderer_66, 08 Novembre 2015

I was very impressed with this property: excellent value, very friendly and accommodating staff, and an unbeatable central location. WiFi is fast and free, and they also loan out bicycles for free. Many good restaurants and shops within walking distance. I will stay here again!

"Recommended"
twofinger, 04 Novembre 2015

Average but clean rooms. A big positive about this hotel is the staff and the location. Downtown area is within a 5/10 walk! A few good breakfast cafes around, 7-11/starbucks just around the corner, what more is there to wish for ;) So, a recommended hotel!

"Good hotel with great location"
DonnaB1969, 02 Novembre 2015

We stayed for 4 nights and found the location perfect. Easy to walk around downtown Victoria from this location. The valet service was easy, quick and worry-free. The staff was very friendly and helpful starting with the front desk, to the valet, to the housekeeping staff. Our room was a little smaller than we thought it would be but it was clean and comfortable and turned out to be just the right size!

"Value for Money"
James M, 01 Novembre 2015

In Victoria for 3 nights to visit with family and friends and to visit an old friend in the hospital. The room was small but completely adequate for our purposes. The staff were very friendly and competent.

"Decent hotel within walking distance of Victoria harbor."
aa_rum32, 29 Octobre 2015

The staff was wonderful and the location was great. It was a short walk to the harbor area. There are plenty of restaurants, shopping boutiques and nightlife within a few blocks in all directions from the hotel. The hotel staff was very pleasant and they acted very professional. They were willing to give us information and help us with our plans while in Victoria. The restaurant at the hotel called, "London Tube" served meals all day and it was very good. They served mostly American food but some of the menu was European based meals. Try them out.

"Excellent downtown location with very helpful staff"
Gardiner W, 28 Octobre 2015

Probably the best downtown location in Victoria. Very comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff, valet parking at an additional very modest cost. The off season rates warm the cockles of your heart!

"Thanks "
Sonya B, 26 Octobre 2015

The hotel is in the middle of old town walking distance to many restaurants and attractions like China Town. The hotel was super clean and well taken care of. The staff was knowledgeable and super helpful. The restaurant in the hotel was excellent. I even sent the cook a tip. Thanks for making our vacation a lot nicer.

"Tour of canada"

Stayed at this lovely hotel for 2 nights. We had a lovely spacious room which was very comfortable and very clean. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is close to lovely restaurants. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Location, Location, Location"
brendam671, 23 Octobre 2015

Gracious, clean, older hotel with nice size rooms and extremely friendly helpful staff. This hotel is located downtown and within walking distance of Victoria's fine restaurants, Chinatown, entertainment, and of course the beautiful ocean is a just a few blocks away. Valet parking in a secure parking area is provided and should you wish to use your vehicle it is delivered promptly to the front door. Most visitors will find that you have little need for a car when staying at the Best Western PLUS Carlton Plaza Hotel!

"Downtown Victoria"
Dan B, 22 Octobre 2015

Great value, maybe because it's off season, but regardless very close walking distance to many restaurants and downtown shopping. Overnight Valet parking was less than $10 to my surprise. Got a free upgrade to cap it all off!

"Home in the heart of the city"
Geckosgal, 20 Octobre 2015

Lovely spot within walking distance of everything. Valet parking, well equipped comfortable rooms and friendly staff make this a place to stay for business and pleasure alike. Between main shopping areas and China town, easy walk to tourist attractions and transit

"Fine Hotel with Excellent Service"
Kenneth L, 16 Octobre 2015

Good location, friendly and helpful staff, good value with a nice upgrade to a suite (BW member), quick check in and express checkout, efficient valet parking. Room a bit dated but comfortable beds and everything needed. Having stayed here on several previous occasions we recommend this as a very good hotel in the downtown core.

"Best Western Plus Carlton Victoria, B.C."
Janette B, 15 Octobre 2015

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by a friendly and courteous staff. We were able to check in early to our clean and quiet room. Our stay was just one night (a Thursday), but I told the front desk that we loved how comfortable the bed was and the attentiveness of the staff as well. We would recommend them to our friends and family as a good value and location. We walked from the Clipper dock and to the Save On Foods Arena to see Ringo Starr and his All-Star Band. About 10 blocks to the hotel from the Clipper Cruise dock.

"Good Value for Cost"
Margaret L, 15 Octobre 2015

We planned a short trip to Victoria to visit the Royal Museum. We choose the Best Western as we are long time BCAA members. We were very happy with the overall experience and the reputation of the Best Western did not disappoint.

"October 2015"
Richard B, 12 Octobre 2015

Convient, downtown location. Able to walk to all of the downtown places of interest. Complementary bikes( which we didn't use) was a nice feature. Good check in and out. Not a fan of valet parking but it's in the inner city core. All the staff we had to deal with were very professional.

"Irritating "
BillSmith59, 06 Octobre 2015

Do not stay in room 511 unless you like the sound of the elevator. TV was too small for the room and the wait for the vàlet to bring your vehicle to the door was always longer then stated. The room was clean for the age of the hotel. We did use airlines to pay for the stay, which maybe is why they gave us the noisy room.

"Friendly and Helpful Staff"
L0stTrav3l3r, 30 Septembre 2015

We stayed here for a couple nights while exploring Victoria. The staff was friendly and helpful in recommending places to visit. The only negative was parking at the hotel but the staff was great having your car ready when notified ahead of time.

"Our Dependable Home Away from Home"
Jane S, 25 Septembre 2015

We live up island but travel several times each year to Victoria and always try to get a room at the Best Western Carlton Plaza. From the warm welcome we anticipate and receive at the door, to the well appointed rooms and suites, we are never disappointed. When I arrived recently with two elderly relatives (one in a wheelchair) and six pieces of luggage, my worries about how to manage evaporated instantly as Annabel greeted us from behind the desk with a huge warm smile. She came from behind the desk to organize our belongings--and us!--and in no time we were settled into our suite. And it really did feel like home!!! Thank you, Carlton Plaza :)

"very happy we decided to stay here"

We went for a girls trip and stayed at this hotel. The staff were all very friendly and were very accommodating. Not to mention we got a great deal and it was a great location. We will without a doubt be back!

"Your Best Bet!"
travellers011, 24 Septembre 2015

We visit downtown Victoria Quite often and have stayed at a few different hotel's in the area. We have found this hotel fills all our travel needs. From Andrew the friendly face that greets you at the door ,to the front desk staff especially Christopher, that will help you in any needs you might have.We found the location perfect to walking to most restaurants ,the wharf, and shopping.A couple of great things we love at this hotel ,is that it has a very strong wi-fi signal in your room and through out the building, and for us thats very important to keep in touch with family and business. We have stayed at other hotels in the area(with higher ratings)? that dont ! consider a strong wi-fi to be a big issue ,however in this day and age of traveling we think it is,Also the fantastic !!!! restaurant attached to the hotel the London Tube. Nice to come down in the morning steps to a waiting friendly staff, and great organic coffee, and a wonderful selection suited to most tastes. We do look forward again to staying here.
