Best Western Inn of Ventura

The bedding chronically comes with holes burned in it by cigarettes. The Manager and assistant evidence no interest in running a first-class operation, albeit, the County of Ventura is paying top dollar for these rooms, rooms that are made available to folks who, for a variety of reasons, mostly economic, are in transition. There are no white people on staff and communication with the motel staff can be challenging, oftentimes pointless. Trains start sounding their airhorns at 0730 hrs., on into the late night. Great if you like train sounds,

1/2 the hotel is homeless staying in the rooms doing drug deals! Room was very rundown and not very clean! Homeless also staying in motor homes outside the hotel grounds! For the price of the room I was expecting more!

We were disappointed upon check-in to learn there were no first floor rooms available, as we both have disabilities. Nor was there an elevator. When we asked for assistance with our ONE suitcase, person who checked us in told us no one could help us due to liability reasons. Fortunately for us, one of the housekeeping staff members assisted us when we asked her directly. The floor plan of the room was ideal with the sleeping and resting area (a chair) separated by a wall divider from the bathroom, closet and desk area. Appreciated the refrigerator and microwave in the room. The bathroom sink was very slow to drain even when just brushing our teeth. There was a huge stain n the carpet as we entered the room. Very unappealing wondering what was in the carpet. We wore shoes in the room at all times. The continental breakfast was ordinary and to be honest, I suspect it gave me food poisoning so I personally would recommend passing on it. Fortunately the property is conveniently located just a few blocks away from the main drag, which is lined with restaurants. Go there instead! The pool was not open to guests and this was not disclosed until we arrived. Probably would not have used it after seeing homeless people congregate night and day around the seating outside the pool entrance. Even though our schedule permitted us to stay several nights, we only stayed one night as there was absolutely nothing about this place to keep us (especially at nearly $200/night). When passing through this area in the future, we will find another accommodation.

We stayed here on a road trip so thankfully it was only for one night. The room was clean BUT the window lock was broken and there was a building directly under our window where anyone could climb up and get inside. In fact there were discarded clothes on top of this building. We did not feel safe at all not to mention the shady looking people walking around. We were worried our car was going to be broken into during the night so we didn't sleep well. The staff was friendly and the hotel is within walking distance of all the downtown shops but I would not stay here again. For $220 a night I can stay at the Crowne plaza on the beach in a much nicer room.....

This hotel looked a lot better online than in person. There are sketchy-seeming people hanging around in the parking lot, and it is on the edge of a not so great area. After checking in, we were a little creeped out and we checked reviews by others and read the hotel is shared by a program to give rooms to homeless people during COVID. This was then confirmed by a staff member. This sounds like a valuable program, but we would not have booked this hotel had we known this - bedbugs, lice, etc. The room is small and dark with turquoise and brown decor. The air is super stagnant, so even vaccinated, we worry the air has not exchanged since the last guest slept here. Bottom line - we would not have stayed here if we had other options after reserving online with a different impression and then arriving at 10pm on a Friday.

I had to find a last minute hotel due to my apartment flooding. This was the only one available that accepted dogs. I figured I'd do a staycation. It was over $300/night and I'd never recommend it. I had to put a chair against my door to feel even remotely safe. My dog was growling all night. It's more like a temporary residence hotel and the environment was not remotely what you'd expect from over $300/night. I checked out the next day and they wouldn't refund me the rest of my scheduled stay. They said I'd have to go through hotels.com. I called hotels.com and they said I'd have to get the funds from BW. BW denied it. Now I'm trying to dispute it through my credit card company. Complete waste of time. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

This hotel is old but they have planted some flowers which were not there the last time we stayed which was about 3 years ago. The walls are thin. The room next door had their tv on all night (not the hotel's fault). There is no elevator and we had a disabled family member visit. The water in the shower was lukewarm at best. The bed was uncomfortable. The only highlight of our stay was a view of the ocean (past the freeway).

In general - very nice hotel after they made upgrades. The cons - poor access to the rooms - they have plants between parking and room entrances. Very tricky to get the suitcase over that obstacle course. Bed sheets are rather itchy. Coffee maker is not Keurig and behaves naughty. Good features - very modern AC, laminate floors, 2 desks, spacious room.

I have been staying at this property for more than a decade. When the hot tub broke, they just filled it in with concrete, which was a disappointment, but the location is so ideal that we continued to stay here every year. This year I was sad to see it start to decline. They pool was closed "for maintenance" indefinitely, even though there didn't appear to be anything wrong with it...The management is clearly not concerned with customer satisfaction. The room was clean, and the staff was friendly and efficient, so I would still recommend it. The location can't be beat, but the management needs to treat the workers and customers with more respect. The breakfast options were weak (even considering covid restrictions), and they need to open the pool for the summer months at least!

Bed was hard as a rock, did not sleep well. We asked for housekeeping service and nobody came the next day. Breakfast was a giant muffin that was loaded with calories, although they also had yogurt and granola bars. It was at least clean thank goodness.

Ever heard of such a thing. Only rooms in las vegas have no coffee in rooms. Oh now Best Western in Ventura. Just ask Carlos THE MANAGER he was rude. The refrigerator wobbled so badly you had to laugh

We were very pleased with our stay. We were here a number of nights to visit family and were very pleased with the location. A easy walk to the Ventura Pier, Promenade, beach, walking/biking trail, and Downtown for meals and breweries, The room was spotless and well decorated. Really liked the layout of the room allowing lights to be on without disturbing another in the room sleeping. The beds were very comfortable and really liked the heating/cooling unit. Able to keep the fan on continuously for great white noise to sleep. Keurig coffee maker, microwave, good sized refrigerator, made our eleven day stay easy. The grab and go breakfast with additional cereals, fruit, yogurt and unlimited coffee was perfect and if you needed more, there are places close to walk to for more. We were not able to sit in the lobby, or out at the pool which is closed for now, but with Covid that is how it is. We were able to decide how often we needed room cleaning and could always ask for room supplies or trash removal. Every single staff member was friendly and professional. We did not have one complaint. I had read about long term people staying here, because of the Covid situation. We were never bothered or worried about this arrangement, so do not let this stop you from staying here. For the price, you can't do better in my mind for convenience or comfort.

This hotel has gone downhill! They are housing transients and allowing campers to use the parking lot. They allow the camper tenants to smoke in the parking lot. Lots of people coming and going. The management should have made us aware at time of booking that they are a designated housing facility.

This is the only hotel that I have ever had to pay to clean my own room, beg for fresh towels, have no amenities replaced after the first day, no clean sheets in a week. "Grab and Go" breakfast of stale muffin in a package, granola bar, and a bottle of water, jammed in a paper bag and tossed at you by someone behind the desk. We stayed at the this hotel 5 years ago and it was nice. Now it is a hangout for transients, there is no security and the staff is rude, including the General Manager who was the worst. We checked out early.

The room was clean, bathroom light wouldnt turn off. Sheets were ruff. Very uncomfortable. It looked like people were living this hotel. Drug addicts walking in and out of rooms. A woman pounding on doors yelling for someone. One room had so many boxes in it, a lot of foot traffic. Police activity. Men yelling swear words in the parking lot. Felt you needed to stay in with doors locked. 2 rooms for a one night $450. Stay away especially if you have children. I have always stayed at Best Westerns This by far was the worst. I want a refund.

Right in the heart of Ventura, lots of restaurants and places to visit. Loved the location of the Hotel, very close to the beach. Room was spotless, bed very comfortable, loved the amenities in the room. Had Ocean View from our room. Location was quiet, the train came by right behind our room, and really was no bother.

The Best Western Plus in Ventura was a wonderful surprise. As a last minute choice, I found the lobby and Alice cheerful and helpful at check-in. The room was spacious, sound proofed (near railroad tracks and freeway), and clean. The breakfast was grab and go with many choices. The internet was consistent. I would definitely stay there again.

Friendly staff, great location. I walked down to the pier to watch both the sunrise and sunset. Downtown was just two blocks away and there were lots of activities to do. Even with the distractions of Covid-19 I felt quite satisfied.

The room was modern and had a great flow to it. It did smell pretty musty in there though. It was right next to the boardwalk and after checkout the host let us keep our car there while exploring the area for a couple hours. The biggest downfall was their very struck pet policy. Small area to walk your dog and pets are not allowed on the bed at all.

We had a great stay here in Ventura. At first the hotel looks more like a motel and the building looks old. However, the rooms were renovated, clean, and spacious. They also had a microwave. We found the employees to be nice and pleasant and the hotel held our luggage while we went to the channel islands national park. The location is excellent, very close to main street with lots of cute stores and restaurants. Would love to visit again. Grab and go breakfast was provided.

Strategically located, this hotel offers you downtown and boardwalk one block away each. There are great places to eat close to it as well, was quiet at night for a great sleep, 100% clean. All staff was very helpful and friendly

This was a horrible stay. The heat/ fan did not work on a cold night. When reported to the front desk, we were told that there was no one to help. The bathroom switch would not turn off the light/ fan. At 8 am there was no hot water for a shower. We could not leave this property fast enough. So disappointing for a BW branded property. Hard to stick with their properties, if we cannot count on a good standard.

We choose this hotel for two reasons. First it was close to a hospital my son was having surgery . Second it was party of the Bonvoy program. It is a basic hotel. We were not looking for up scale . We were just looking for somewhere close to the Hospital . We forgot our switch charger in our room. I knew exactly where it was. I called the hotel. No one got back to me. I had to call again no one got back to me. I gave up. Very disappointed . Did not make me feel like they cared to much about us.

The exterior of the hotel looks like it's been in a beach city a very long time, however, the lobby is beautiful! Such a great place to enjoy a wonderful breakfast, with lots of options. The rooms have been clearly been renovating, and are very pleasing to the eye, and I wish all motels would go to non-carpet flooring, feels so much cleaner!

A quiet relaxed hotel with an excellent breakfast. All backed with the reputation of the Best Western Name. While the tv is not amazing all the other ameneties are excellent and I have never been disappointed with one of my stays here. The night clerk Diego is Particularly good.

We only stayed one night. The exterior looks a little run down but the rooms were clean and nice and breakfast was really good. The location is great--very close to the beach and pier. There is a good gastropub a few blocks away.

This place is within walking distance to everything in Downtown Ventura, and one block from the beach/pier/promenade. It doesn't look like much from the road, but the rooms are actually quite nice, and very well laid out.

My friends and I visited Ventura to go see a concert at the Majestic Theater.The theater was walking distance from the hotel. This was my first time staying at Best Western hotels and I have to say that Ventura Best Western Plus Inn hotel was an amazing stay. The hotel staff are very friendly and let us check in early. The hotel has great amount of parking spaces and its free. My room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very delicious which includes eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, cereal, bagels, yogurts, coffee, juices and milk. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Ventura.

My wife wanted to visit the Hearst Castle during a trip to Las Vegas. This was our stopping place on the return to Vegas. Nice place, fairly quiet (there was a train track nearby but we only heard one train. Property was clean, room was spacious and clean (could have used a few more pictures on the walls). Nice bed, lots of hot water and the breakfast was good with plenty of options (best hotel eggs I've had).

Actually, before I booked this site I read the comments of others. It was clean, with ample parking, good breakfast, but the best part was the attentiveness of the staff. The room I stayed in had a slightly different design than typical which would be convenient for multiple folks to get ready in the AM.

Hotel location is very good it is in walking distance from ocean , lots of different restaurants around. Pear is on walking distance with couple sea food restaurants, (strongly recommend to try claim chowder). This is kind of older hotel but clean rooms, and very quiet air and heating system. The best thing i liked , was breakfast; big selection in menu, lots of fruits, fresh and tasty salsa, nice and helpful stuff.

The room is always clean and the other clientele were quiet enough. I worked nights while there and it was nice to grab breakfast when I could time it right, delicious for as simple as it is. Rosy does a great job with it.

This is our second stay here and we would come back again. We requested a room on the ground floor as we had a large suitcase and there was no elevator. Room was a good size and very comfortable and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was limited and it would have been nice to have more healthy options. Location was excellent just a short walk to downtown.

The renovations are complete, although I stayed here even during the project because the people are always so friendly. The rooms are always immaculate and everyone is just so nice. The proximity to the ocean is really great for my morning run, simply go down a block, cross over the tracks, and your at the waterside bike path. You can go for miles in either direction. This is my regular place to stay when Im in town on business. It's always a great stay. Oh, by the way, there are Amtrak railroad tracks on the back side. I am a troublesome sleeper, however I have stayed along the tracks a few times and it has NEVER been a problem. I don't believe many trains pass by. It really isn't anything to be concerned about when weighing all the great positives at this hotel.

Would stay again - walking distance to beach & dining. Had earned a free stay and was greeted like a paying customer. Breakfast was good as was the coffee. Room was clean and comfortable plus smelled nice.

Ok, this is a small inn and older property, but it is carefully maintained. Walk to either the beach or even easier stroll downtown to restaurants and entertainment. Front desk staff were always friendly and accommodating.

This BW property is well maintained with nicely appointed rooms that are always beautifully clean. It's location is just a short walk to a part of downtown Ventura that's loaded with great restaurants & pubs. Their complimentary breakfast is complete with eggs, breakfast meats and delicious home-style potatoes. Rosy, their super-conscientious attendant, makes certain that the hot dishes offered are always appetizing and kept full. A good value.

Best Western Inn Plus, Ventura is ideally located and provides a good warm breakfast option. The rooms are nice and well kept, and even remodeled a bit. The hotel is within walking distance of downtown Ventura and the Boardwalk. It is disappointing that they no longer have a hot tub. The woman at reception was a bit brusque; the rooms were perfectly cleaned and maintained.

We were 2 nights at this hotel. Very friendly Staff, Especially receptionist Travis helped us a lot when necessary; very friendly and professional. Room was nice as well as the breakfast. The hotel is fairly close to the beach but also to the highway (bit noisy around).

This is our second stay while visiting family in Ventura. Each visit has been a pleasure. Friendly staff, clean, spacious room. Excellent breakfast. My wife and I want to especially thank Ruben and Gus, who helped us at the front desk. Ruben was there the night before Thanksgiving and was just wonderful. Gus helped us the morning we left. Marivel and Alondra worked hard to prepare wonderful breakfast choices. They went out of their way for us on our last day, making sure we had everything we needed. My wife agrees: This is THE hotel for us whenever we visit Southern California. Thank you to all of the staff at Best Western Plus Inn of Ventura. We've stayed at more expensive properties but this one is the best!!!! The staff make a clean, comfortable stay really shine.

Horrible experience over Thanksgiving.Staff inferior. Not good at problem-solving. Good rooms but lousy location. Managers poor at customer service. Never go back. Brought the matter to their parent corporation's attention. Over-charged by a day.

Check in was a breeze and I saw the cutest park ever right across the street. I'm coming back and bringing the kids. Room was updated, modern and clean. Large. I love the work area. Overall just a very good experience and rates were better than anywhere else.

Stayed one night during a business trip. Very friendly staff, nice breakfast and clean room. Location was perfect. Nice dinner options within walking distance and many more only a short drive away. I had a couple of hours to kill after breakfast before my meeting and the noon checkout was very nice. It allowed me to walk the 15 minutes to the Ventura Pier, sit on a bench which overlooked the ocean. Nice way to start the day! The value for the money was very high.

In the hospitality business the key is hiring the right people. This Best Western did that when they hired Rosa. She greeted us in the breakfast area with a good morning and a warm Smile. Such a pleasant way to start the day. She kept the area clean and full smiling all the time. Thank you Rosa you started our day out right!

Newly renovated motel. Rooms simply awesome - nice interior and furnishing. Location perfect, you can walk to the city center in minutes. Breakfast - good choice incl. eggs, pancakes, fruit, juice... Check-in service was a little disappointing - the lady was in a bad mood, sadly.

We stayed recently for one night. The room was clean, smelled fresh and had a nice dressing area outside of the bathroom. This hotel is pretty close to lots of locations you might want to visit while in Ventura. We found an outlet in our room that was inoperable when we tried to use the hair dryer, but we found another outlet which worked. We reported it to the office. The office staff (Travis) was helpful and friendly. The included breakfast had good choices and was well-stocked and clean. It was near a railroad track, but the train did not have a big, blaring horn, so we barely noticed it.

Great room, big and comfortable beds, very nice personnel, very good breakfast, satellite TV, fast WLAN microwave and coffee maker in the room (although we didn't use those), but the doorknob of the bathroom was very loose. Still worked as intended though.

Stayed here one night before heading to the Channel Islands. Easy to find, helpful staff, nice breakfast and easy parking. We arrived early and they were able to accomodate an early check in. Room was clean and fresh.

Affordable and comfortable hotel. Had a great night sleep and the evening and morning staff (Andrew Rosa) we VERY friendly and helpful. The entire hotel was clean and well appointed. The complimentary breakfast had a fantastic selection.

We stayed for four nights. Delicious breakfast selection and the ladies Brittney and Rosa were very hospitable during breakfast. We love you ladies! Thank you! We had a very enjoyable visit. We would definitely stay there again.

I was planning a trip to the Channel Islands and needed a place to stay in Ventura (harbor where the C.I. ferries depart from is in Ventura). I went with the Best Western Plus and I am really happy that we chose it. First of all, it is about 10 minutes from the Ventura Harbor so it was really convenient for us. There is also a playground and park literally right across the street (I had my toddler son with me so it was super helpful) and there is a pretty good Mexican take-out place across the street as well. That was really convenient for a quick dinner. Check in went smoothly. The clerk at the counter (I was later told by management that her name was Alice) was reallly nice and helpful. I also told her my toddler's name. She gave him a little pretzel snack (which was really appreciated for the time of day it was). The next day she came out of the office to talk to me about something in the parking lot (she was helping me out with something I had asked about previously). She told my son “hi” by name and I was impressed. I really appreciated the personalized touch and that she remembered. It may seem like a minor thing to most people, but I really appreciated it. Great customer service overall. Breakfast was. 6:30-9:30am. It was a pretty good breakfast and there was lots of seating (though it was full the first day I was there). On that day we just got our food and walked back to our room. Room was nice. Clean and spacious. Nothing particularly special about it, but it was a nice room with microwave, fridge, tv, tub, coffeemaker... the hotel basics. Ample parking so we were able to park right outside of our room. Really good experience at the Best Western Plus in Ventura. Would stay again if the opportunity arose.

Seems like it's in the middle of a refurbishing; the lobby is clean and modern, breakfast buffet area is manageable, and front desk staff is amiable and efficient. The parking lot needs repaving, and the since guests have to walk through it to get to the rooms, it's unavoidable. The edifice itself seems sad and shabby, but perhaps they really are in the midst of a renovation and decided to start on the interior. Our experience would seem to bear out this theory, as the rooms seemed clean and modern, compared to the somewhat dilapidated exterior. However, there was always an inexplicable black deposit on my feet/socks after walking on the floor! This is the first time I've ever had to use wet wipes on the soles of my feet before getting into bed! (All flooring issuses aside, Brittany, a waitress at the buffet, was very nice and helpful when I spilled a cup of coffee in the buffet. She raced to get a towel and mopped the spill, one, two, three. So, there's that.)

We recently stayed for 5 nights at this Best Western, Room 202. The rooms have been remodeled with modern decor and the bed is comfortable with nice white bedding. The furniture is attractive as well. There is even a little wall that divides the bedroom from the closet / bathroom area that is convenient to change clothing there and has a counter there as well. The room has a mini refrigerator and coffee maker. There is definitely pride of ownership here and we really appreciate that. Staff are constantly cleaning and sweeping. The breakfast bar is very nice looking and plenty of dining tables and chairs. They serve Farmer Brothers coffee which was tasty. There is a good assortment of food to choose from. It is a 2 story motor lodge style with stairs to the 2nd floor. The lodging is on a busy street, Thompson Ave, but at night it is quiet and the windows are new and do a good job of filtering noise. We requested a quiet room so we were closer to Thompson Ave. The rooms further down are closer to the train tracks and freeway, so we like our room. You do hear the train at various times. I wish that other hotels and inns would take as much pride in their facility as this one. Also, there is a mini-split AC / heat in the room which is a luxury in Ventura. It was cool the week we were here but most hotels up this way don't have AC. When it is hot, this would be a big plus to have. As you can tell, we were very happy to stay here and will again when we are out this way.

We stay at this Best Western Plus twice a year when we visit family in the area. It is in walking distance of the downtown area and beach. The staff is great. Although it is not a new property, the rooms are clean and adequate for our visits. The included breakfast is very good, with many hot or cold options. Parking is free. Shout out to Travis at the front desk, who handled an issue I had redeeming a Best Western gift card when we checked out. We will continue to stay there.

We had booked only one night as we did not know what to expect. but added another night after our arrival. The property was very neat and looked to have been remodeled pretty recently. Staff were all helpful and friendly.

It was close to everything we needed. And it was clean and affordable for a last minute trip. There was enough room for all of us in the room and we didn't feel cramped. It was easy for us all to get ready in the morning very roomy.

Easy access off no 101 freeway also very nice and Quiet With a very helpful staff.... Complementary breakfast is above average Also Wi-Fi is top notch. You have several restaurants nearby & close to the beach..

My wife and I wanted a short getaway for the weekend. We decided on Ventura and the Best Western plus Inn of Ventura. The hotel it self looks on the older side on the outside but looks like they have renovated the inside of there hotel rooms. There's always a hick up when you renovate. The shower didn't quite work the way it should have and we told the front desk before we checked out about the problem and they said they will take care of it. Now for the good things about the hotel. Front desk employees are excellent. It's in a good location. It's close enough to walk to the beach/pier and to the restaurants near the hotel. For a weekend getaway it's a good place to go and stay. We will be back. Thank you for a good stay.

This is an older but newly renovated Best Western. Its location is ideal as it's downtown and right by restaurants, shopping and beaches. You can access all you need from the hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable. My only complaint is the bed firmness was a bit much. We would stay here again.

This was a perfectly acceptable Best Western. The price was high considering the area was not that great and it was more of a motel atmosphere than a hotel. Still everything worked great and the breakfast was nice. We stayed during off season in September and paid $180 per night which is definitely high.

Great location, walking distance to The Majestic Theater, downtown Ventura Shopping district, Beach and the pier. Highly recommend this hotel. The lodging in the area is pricey, and this was the most affordable option. The full breakfast was great, Brittany did an excellent job of keeping it clean and full. Wish the potatoes were vegetarian though. Room was very clean, bed was comfortable, and it was quiet. Would stay here again, because of location.

Spending 3 nights in Ventura at the Best Western Plus, and have nothing but great things to say about the place and people. Brittney and Rosa at breakfast this morning were particularly helpful and pleasant! A great way to start the day!

Checked in early and found I was in an ADA room with no tub and a shower head mounted 2 feet off the floor. Was told I absolutely could not change rooms. Air conditioning didn't work - was told there was no maintenance person on call that day. I left and will never be back even though I have stayed at this hotel for several years and am a “valued” customer. Was treated very badly and don't need that at the start of a vacation.

The room was perfect, the food was great & the staff were very friendly, professional & excellent at their jobs. We plan to stay again & would encourage anyone to try it. It's very close to interesting sights & activities & not far from the 101

We always stay at the Best Western Plus Inn of Ventura when we come to this area. Very nice, remodeled, clean and great staff. They have a great morning breakfast. Their staff at the front desk, Travis, the women who work the breakfast, notably Rosa and Brittney. They are all very pleasant and have great attention to detail. Travis was very helpful when we requested another room. You can walk to the beach and Aloha Steakhouse from the hotel. Enjoy your stay!

Rooms are very comfortable and clean. The continental breakfast preparation staff (Brittney) keeps the coffee hot and the food tidy.Located in a great location downtown, easy to get to. Stay a day & say hi to Brittany.

We had a nice stay at the best Western Plus inn. The size of the room is good and they are really clean. Parking is for free and the Spots are quite big. Breakfast was delicious! Great variety and really nice staff. Thank you Brittney and Rosa!

Really enjoyed my stay here, the rooms had enough space for two large pieces of baggage to fit in. Also really liked the breakfast, which had a lot of options to choose from. The quality of the scrambled eggs could have been better tough, but it was alright.

Not great to look at and rooms are smallish but ok. About two blocks from great shopping and interesting eaters. Walking distance to the beach. Pool is average size. Breakfast room is a little small but food is good.

More than adequate room and hotel. Very good breakfast which was part of the room rate. You can walk to the sea front in around ten minutes. We ate at the Lure Fish House which was amazing and I highly recommend. We would happily return to this hotel

Staff is friendly and helpful, room was very clean. Biggest drawback was the noise. Could hear everything going on outside and upstairs, a/c unit spit ice out onto the floor and was very noisy. To their credit, it was a very busy weekend and we booked the room last minute during a work-related trip. The breakfast (free) was very good with lots of choices and was constantly attended.

We have stayed once and will stay again later this month, The location is great for downtown and the beach.. Not fancy but the beds were surprisingly comfortable and the room was quiet despite a late night event across the street.

Seems to be updated/renovated rooms. Very Clean and well kept. Air conditioning unit worked very well. Parking was easy, staff was very nice. Two & a half blocks walk to Main Street (downtown) was easy. Breakfast was a good selection of waffels, hard boiled eggs, juices, muffins, coffee, etc. If traveling in this area again would very much want to stay again.

I have stayed at this hotel several times. Easy access to the freeway, nice room, nice breakfast, walking distance to the beach and old town Ventura. Very quiet. I will stay here every time i go to Ventura.

Rooms were clean, nice and had been updated. Wasn't sure about the area but we didn't have any problems. Friendly staff and the pool was nice and you can take the walking bride over the highway to the beach.

In town for a wedding. Stayed originally at the Amanzi but needed late checkout or another night to prep for the evening wedding... they couldn't accommodate, so we ended up here and it was awesome. We had walked by before and noticed their clean and bright lobby area and patio - it was inviting. We were pleased by the nice clean room that we ended up with. Most importantly to us, the front desk staff got us into a room early (even though they were also very busy) so that we could get in and settled pre-wedding. This allowed us to make our event in time and with everything we needed. 100% would stay here again. Great location to enjoy the town, beach, and food + good service.

Stayed here for three nights in early July. Front desk staff were professional, efficient, and really nice. My room was very clean and well maintained, and best of all, the shower head was above my head (I'm 6'2” and usually have to crouch to get completely under the spray). Outside noise was nicely muted, and the in-room air conditioning unit was super quiet. Only a few blocks away was an elevated walkway over the highway that led right to the beach and pier. Would stay here again in a heartbeat

This Best Western Plus is located blocks from the beach, the pier (with great tacos) and downtown Ventura. The rooms are well laid out and clean. The amenities include a pool and high speed internet. The convenient location plus the comfortable rooms, and the friendly staff make this an excellent choice.

The positives: location convenient to the Channel Islands National Park Lagomarsino visitor center, a convenient motor court type arrangement for parking, helpful and upbeat desk staff, a spacious, clean second floor room accessed by stairway, with a unique floor plan with make-up counter/desk in dressing area by large closet outside of bathroom, high tech motion activated bathroom exhaust fan with green LED light, modern HVAC unit with a dehumidifier setting, a window that opened and a comfortable bed. It was generally quiet, but we heard plumbing noise from an adjacent room in the morning. Moderately dirty AC filters and unit. Kitchen under renovation so no omelets or meat, but plenty of other selections including yogurt, hard boiled eggs, etc.

Very nice place, nearby one of the main Ventura's beaches. Renovated room, with well accommodated internal spaces (coffee corner, an internal separation wall to the bathroom). Fridge, coffee, pool, all amenities available for a good price.

When ever in Ventura, usually for work, I always stay at this Best Western. The staff is always frendly and helpful, the rooms have been remodeled and very comfortable. The location is ideal, blocks from downtown main street, close to the beach, and easy access to the 101.

My heart sank when I drove up to property for the first time. Looks extremely run down. My room smelled awful & I had to immediately purchase some room deodorizers, open windows and run the fan. Lobby is tiny. No ability to serve hot breakfast. Even the bathroom in the lobby was out of service. Water never gets hot, just tepid. No offer of any assistance or any kind. A guest dragged luggage down stairwell at 5:30 am--sounded like sonic booms. Can hear the nearby train whistle 24/7. Quite a disappointment overall.

This gem is centrally located in the middle of Ventura. The rooms are updated and the exterior is super cute and has a great beach look. Great local restaurants and bars within walking distance. The freeway is close as is the train station, which takes you up or down the coast.

Excellent experience: comfortable and very clean room w/refrigerator, microwave, & individual coffeemaker; mattress felt brand-new & bathroom towels were big and plentiful. Friendly & professional lobby & housekeeping staffs. Awesome complimentary breakfast that offered a nice variety of every item (juices, breads, cereals, fresh fruit) and was monitored very well by staff--kept it stocked and clean.

Shout out to Alice and Carlos at the best Western in formed such a warm welcome and making us feel like a valued customers when we checked in Alice could not have been more conscientious introducing herself as well as advising the name of the night manager . Her welcome was one that 5 star hotels would find hard to match as it was so very genuine and warm. Room was much nicer inside than appearance outside, bed very comfy, little office/coffee nook and very clean bathroom. The pool is nice and the hotel is.a short walk to the beach but you have to go over an overpass. Breakfast this morning was limited to continental S the hotel is renovating that area. Selections included the usual bagels, croissants, packages of oatwitg a variety of extra toppings, fruit, pastries, yoghurt, cream cheese and a tiaster. Only thing missing was milk which Carlos explained they weren't able to accommodate due to the renovations however he went above and beyond and arranged with a lovely lady also was working in the kitchen area to run out and grab some milk for us for my husband who had brought his own cereal for special dietary reasons Carlos also offered a ‘grab bag' breakfast to go which is another option during the breakfast area renovation. Wow this is exemplary customer service - Best western should be so proud of the team at this location ! Thank you for a lovely is short stay !

The staff and breakfast were great. The room was clean and spacious, but when I looked out the window there was trash on one side and a homeless couple on the other side with the freeway/train rattling. I wouldn't stay there again or would make sure that my room faced in a better direction.

Hubby didn't care for hotel when we first arrived. The room Was very nice, it was large, had Mini fridge ,microwave , nice bathroom area. The outside of hotel is just plain and not welcoming. We drive into Downtown - surprised to See so many places. But I think this isn't a popular town. Just depressing!!'

owners/desk people were very nice, but entering parking lot, I saw a motel that really needed a paint job and some TLC. another BW with awful TV remotes. Location was great for walking around- hit the pier, a pub and had a good dinner. I liked the vibe in Ventura and will go back, but not to this place. I am a huge BW fan.

Spacious room was comfortable beds. Room had a funny smell, almost like it hadn't been used in awhile. No hot tub here just a pool. Service wasn't good, we waited for 15min at reception to check in and nobody was there, ended up going outside to find someone and when they did appear, answered the ringing phones first! Usually customers in front of them should take precedence.

We came here late at night from the Clocktower Inn (it was awful); and this hotel was heaven! Wonderful, spacious, clean room with a super comfortable bed. The breakfast was great too, and I was greeted by employees named Erik and a gal named Cynthia at the breakfast area. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Plus in Ventura. The location was excellent as it was an easy walk to the downtown Ventura area as well as being close to the 101 and the beaches. The staff was very cordial and welcoming. Our room was clean and well-maintained. There was a free breakfast that was included. It was very basic - eggs, pastries, sausage, bagels & toast, yogurt, cereal, etc., but it was nice to have that option. We did not have any trouble with noise at night, it was very quiet. I would definitely stay there again.

This is a great place if you travel for pleasure or in business. Located just walking distance from downtown Ventura, plenty of restaurants and bars, also maybe 5 minutes walk from the beach. It is quiet, very clean (I learned they renovate every year!). Their breakfasthas really nice selection, and staff is very friendly and helpful! That was a nice stay. Thank you, guys!

The place has been recently remodled so everything is in excellent shape. My favorite part about staying here is the breaskfast room. Always has a family feel with everyone enjoying the great selection of fresh delicious food and drinks to get the day started. Erik and Rosa do an amazing job keeping all the items stocked and the entire area clean and ready for the stead flow of guest. The room was very comfortable and the bed was perfect, but I will always stay at the Best Western because I have such a great start to my days in the breakfast room!

With easy on and off from the Ventura Highway (US-101), a short two block walk to downtown and the many restaurants and historic building in the area in one direction, and a slightly longer walk in the other direction to the beach, the location of this hotel is in hard to beat location for both leisure and business travelers. I will admit that when I first pulled up and saw more of a motel looking facility with two floors, no elevator and rooms opening to the outdoors rather than an inside hallway, I was bit skeptical of the Best Western Plus designation but my concerns proven unwarranted once I entered the clean, well maintained, large room that was well appointed with two queen beds, coffeemaker, microwave, mini-fridge and makeup vanity. Typical of a Best Western Plus, a full, hot breakfast is complimentary as is Wi-Fi and parking.

This is a great hotel, close to downtown, the beach and pier. You get a great breakfast to get you started each day. The staff are friendly and accommodating and the hotel is very clean. I've stayed here many times and it's always the same.

It is easy to find and a central location. The room was reasonably clean. There I said something nice. Let's start with our arrival... I booked the reservation myself, called ahead the day before, gave the very nice lady my name, CC number, and our rewards number (which is in my wife's name and email, because she deals with this stuff) I said we'd be a late arrival. Arriving LAX at 7:30, stopping for dinner, etc. I said about 10-11... arrived at 10:30. I hopped out of the rental went to the front desk. I was “greeted” by a very officious, self important, TSA agent wannabe. I felt more like I was involved in a traffic stop.... I'm in my mid-60's wife and teen daughter clearly visible in the vehicle. I think I comport myself and have the appearance of a normal person of reasonable responsibility. We're actually here to tour the UC campuses she's been accepted to. He wants to know who (wife's name) is, and where is she? I pointed to the vehicle and he said he'd need her to come in and present photo ID. SERIOUSLY? I made the reservation under my name, used my CC with my name on it. Only the rewards and email involved my wife. OK it's late, long day of travel let's just do this. I explained I had jus stayed at BW property in the San Fernando Valley, using all the same information, but my wife was still home as I had come ahead on business. (See my review of the BW+ in “Winnetka”). And this was not an issue. This fellow clearly did not believe me (admittedly it was stupid to even bring it up with someone like this... I know better, we've all dealt with these sorts) so now he goes on to tell me, “that's funny (aka you're a liar) we just had a ‘big' meeting on this very subject and they made it clear...blah, blah, blah.” Then he goes on to tell me, why just last week they had a guy who tried to spend the night with a woman NOT is wife!” How shocking! Now for the room: as the other reviews have stated, you can hear ever nearby shower and sink like it's in your room, you can hear every door closing, every voice, every beep of cars being remotely locked and foot step outside the room. The toilet paper dispenser is so close to the toilet that you have to use it as an arm rest. That said I have to confess I took a half a dozen sheets as I'm refinishing some nightstands back home and it's the perfect grit for the final sanding before applying the finish. As for the breakfast.... the coffee was excellent and we're here from the Pacific Northwest, so we know from coffee! The rest of it... pass it had it usual fare only not very appetizing. What the heck is that brown liquid with the colored sheen in hot items? Did I mention the coffee was good? When my wife and daughter wake up I'll get them some coffee to get going and we'll get breakfast out. One last and irrelevant note: my wife and have decided with our daughter off to college, to relocate back to SoCal, specifically Ventura and will be making several trips down to look at homes for sale this summer... guess where we won't be staying... go on I'll wait.... and if the management doesn't believe me, they have my real name and can check to Ventura FB page to see my many comments on their posts. Also, the management can skip the, “we're sorry we didn't meet your expectations on your visit, etc, etc.... save the bandwidth, we won't be back, not ever, not never.

This hotel is a great value if you're staying in Ventura. It has a great location, just a few minute walk from downtown. The staff are very nice, especially Alice at the front desk, and the rooms are good sized and comfy.

We have stayed at this hotel several times over the years. They recently have completed a major room remodel and the rooms are nice. The rooms are large and comfortable with a fridge and microwave. The price point for this hotel is extremely reasonable considering the location. The Ventura pier and beach is within walking distance. Four breweries and several downtown restaurants are also within walking distance. This is our go-to hotel when we visit Ventura.

Very nice for a budget motel. Apparently newly renovated. Certainly not a 4*** but clean comfortable and convenient to Ventura and surrounding cities and attractions. No carpet. Some type of composite flooring that doesn't get worn and dirty like carpet. Floor is cold to bare feet. Desk clerks especially Rubin were friendly and professional. Breakfast was the usual fare. Qust: Why are pastries always cold Liked the room layout with a separate area for ladies to apply makeup. Leaves the bathroom clear for others.

Recently remodeled with upgraded facilities including better air/heat controls, fridge, and microwave. Offers free parking. And is walkable to both the main beach and the downtown. Serves a free breakfast in the reception area. There's also a small pool in the parking area. But I think the best quality of this lodging is its location. I just parked and then walked around. But I did use my vehicle to travel down the coast a few minutes to the harbor area. If you come via Amtrak, you can walk from the station, about 10 minutes, if all you have are daypacks and a roller bag.

This BW+ is typical motelstyle, not so big and convenient to freeway and downtown Ventura. The hotel is remodelled, still in progress, but no problem with noise. Staff is great, breakfast as it is in BW+, including small breakfastroom. Pool is heated and quite big, we liked that. Our only concern was that the relatively big room could have had a better design, we missed a seating area. That said we had a great stay. Ask for a room away from the freeway.

We were on our way home to Santa Barbara when the freeway was closed due to rain. We'd stayed in a nice Best Western the night before so we felt good about booking one for tonight. Upon checking in, I inquired if there would possibly be any discounts available due to the fact that we simply weren't able to get home tonight. Not only did he not offer a discount, but the manager joked about possibly raising the rates for the night because he'd had several people inquire about rooms due to the freeway being closed. While the room is actually really nice, comfortable and clean, the manager's comment really left me feeling like I should have booked somewhere else. If you're able to, I'd book somewhere else just because of this guy's callous attitude towards people in a less than ideal situation.

Walking distance to beach area and old town. Hotel is very clean and staff is very welcoming. We stayed at this hotel in November and late night staff was friendly and accommodating. We stayed again just last week (January) and the breakfast was great with attendants refreshing the items regularly. Overall the check in, check out, and breakfast staff are all very pleasant and helpful. The beds are comfortable and linen too. This is our preferred Best Western Hotel to stay at when traveling to pick-up or drop-off our child at California State University, Channel Islands in Camarillo.

This was the third time we stayed here at the Ventura location. The staff is friendly, the rooms are very clean, the location is an enjoyable walk to the downtown eating and shopping areas. The Continental Breakfast is above the Standards one expects of a Motel.From Cereal to fruits. Juices to Coffee,Waffels,Eggs,Bacon,Sausage.Breads and Muffins. Prices are good. Erik and Rosita in the dinning area and Alice at the front desk, and all the staff make it a winning combination.

This is a drive up motel style BW with 2 stories and no elevator. Receptionist was a bit cool since we were a little early for checkin! Room was a good size and comfortable but not sure why this is a BW Plus. Breakfast was in the lobby area and had a reasonable selection. Motel within walking distance of downtown.

I stayed here for a couple of nights on business. The rooms looked to be recently remodeled, which was nice. Exterior corridors, so a lot of noise, especially from the bikers that were staying there that weekend, but not the property's fault. My bathroom had a lot of crickets. Staff was very apologetic. Breakfast was decent. For what you pay in this location, it's a fair deal to stay here.

We stayed for three nights while visiting a friend. Hotel is very clean. Staff is exceptionally friendly. The breakfast was a great bonus. Some good healthier options to choose from. We were able to check in early and staff was very accommodating by putting us away from highway and train noise. Didn't get a chance to use the pool. Was beautiful outside so was gone most of the day. Also super close to downtown. Every restaurant we visited was also great. Overall a wonderful experience.

This is the best hotel in Ventura, even if it is just a drive up motel. It was better than the Crown Plaza hotel which was right on the beach and cost much much more. We stayed at the Crown Plaza but we ended up moving the Best Western Plus Inn of Ventura to get better value (and it was less expensive!). The Crown Plaza took 10 minutes for the water to warm up so we could take showers!! The bed was old too not real comfortable and the pillows not comfortable either. They also have real bad soundproofing at the Crown Plaza so I heard the train frequently. This Best Western Plus Inn was sooooo nice in comparison. Surprising that this is the most comfortable hotel in Ventura. Please ask for a quiet room at the front of the hotel on the 2nd floor. Those are the best rooms. I did not hear the train at all. The rooms have very comfy beds, great pillows, looks pretty new inside. And, the staff pride themselves on providing good service. They make a point of it being important to them at this hotel, so they are super nice, not crabby like at most hotels.If I needed to stay in a hotel in Ventura again, I would definitely choose this one!The only 1 complaint was that the roll away bed we needed wasn't supportive enough for an adult to sleep on. But if you don't need a roll away bed for an adult, you should be quite happy sleeping there and waking up!Oh, the breakfast was more than continental -- contained eggs, potatoes, bacon, a saus

We stayed here for about a week while we were looking for a rental(which was a disheartening experience)! Monica who works the breakfast buffet was such a gem and made everyday better! Love that girl! ❤️

Best mattress I've slept on!! Serta perfect sleeper cheshire elite III mattress. Great selection at breakfast....eggs, sausage, granola with yogurt and toppings, fruit, cereal, bagels, waffles, oatmeal, coffee, juice. Quick walk to the pier and beach and reataurants. Heated pool. Ask for ocean view room, they louder closer to train, but ocean view! No spa.

This is seriously my favorite place to stay in Ventura. It's quiet, yet still close enough to walk to the downtown scene. The staff is amazing and friendly too. People like Cyndy at the front desk make it such enjoyable experience and genuinely go that extra mile to ensure you're comfortable and happy. It's a huge part of why I stay here. The breakfast offered in the morning is delicious and smells so good. The variety is quite stunning. The large rooms are absolutely clean as can be. I never feel the need to question what's been done. Thank you for another great stay. I can't wait to come back!

The staff is always friendly. The food is fine. There always accommodating and allow for early check in. I have never had a problem staying at the best Western in Ventura And whenever I come into the LA area this is where I stay

Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel that is reasonably priced, walking distance to the ocean, shopping and restaurants, and most importantly, friendly staff and clean rooms.

Our Kids love the breakfast here. Everything is fresh and clean every morning. Monica and Rosa are quick to help us get a high chair that is clean every morning for our youngest. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The beach is just a 5 minute walk away, and you are walking distance to a park and plenty of good restaurants. Also, your right off the freeway which makes traveling easy!

Normally we stay at hotels but decided to give it a try. When we first entered the room we spotted a bug on the floor, not a good sign. Being close to the water I wasn't to concerned. We arrived late at night and were also to tired for a room change. After that we had no problems. The Room was clean, pretty quite even with the parking outside the door. The breakfast was better than most of the hotels we have stayed at. We didn't have any problems while there. This is a good option for sight seeing during the day and just sleeping at night. No problems with the free WIFI.

The hotelroom was quite big and comfortable. The king size bed provided us with a good night sleep. Staff at the front desk and breakfast were friendly. It was nice to have breakfast outside the breakfast room.

Nice hotel & close to town (walking distance). Request an upstairs room, if possible. One of the better breakfasts we have seen as they provide home cooked potatoes as well as refried beans with the scrambled eggs. This is a rarity; but quite a treat!

We booked 2 nights as we were in town for an event. After the first night we decided to add on 2 nights. The room was clean and I would say recently redone. No carpet - rather hardwood laminate. The room air conditioner was new and hanging on the wall much quieter then the old ones that cycled on and off all night. The morning breakfast was good too. Scrambled eggs and sausage and refried beans along with the cereal, bagels, waffles, oatmeal. Rosa and Monica kept the breakfast area clean and well stocked. The coffee was good too!

The hotel was fresh and all room items were clean and working well. I received special service from Maria in housekeeping who saved a pillow I left behind by mistake and management mailed it right after I call to report it missing. Thank you so much!

The Best Western Plus in Ventura is an old school motor inn with a nicely renovated look. It's conveniently located right off 101 (sign can be seen from the freeway). Arrived here well past midnight and was greeted with a friendly efficient front desk clerk. Room was clean and nicely renovated. The size of the room for a standard 2 queen bed room was ample. The beds were comfy (but not super plush), sheets were fine, and a clean standard hotel bathroom (with pleasant citrus-scented toiletries). In addition to the table and two chairs there's a separate built-in sitting area that can be used as a vanity or office area. Amenities include microwave, coffeemaker, and a compact fridge with a freezer section (which we really needed). A nice touch was to offer two luggage racks. We had a nice overnight rest, but keep in mind the train tracks are nearby, so for those sensitive to that type of noise, this could be an issue. Special shout out of kudos to Monica and Rosa, the wait staff/cook for breakfast. They kept everything nice, neat and supplied, with very friendly and attentive service and replenishment to the breakfast room. The breakfast itself was very good - the hot food included two kinds of sausage, crispy bacon, eggs (scrambled, but powdered), breakfast potatoes and beans. Make-your-own waffle bar, along with fresh fruit salad and the requisite pastries/bagels/muffins, instant oatmeal, yogurt and dry cereal were also provided. Breakfast area is attached to the lobby and while compact, was pleasant and clean. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks!

I never write reviews but I felt like it was much needed for this place. First of all, the price is extremely fair considering it's location right down town and only a block away from the highway and a bridge away from the beach and the pier. Second, the breakfast was always fresh and never cold. Third and final I allowed my room to be cleaned twice while I stayed with them for 4 nights. Miss Maria was the lady that would clean my room. She did such an amazing job both times! She deserves a praise and a raise. I've never had any room at any hotel cleaned as nicely as she had done.

Clean and comfortable. No problem with parking. The walk might be more than some people would like, but we found it safe and short as seniors ++. Breakfast decent.. standard, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon (sometimes sliced hot dogs???) juice cereal, yogurt, bagels. good coffee. Best value I could find within price range

Newly renovated rooms. Breakfast was good. We traveled down PC1 for the summer and would just find spots when we got tired. We stayed here due to free breakfast. Our room was newly renovated and the breakfast was above average. Parking was tight as they were still working on other rooms.

My favorite Hotel while visiting Ventura. Friendly staff, clean Hotel, great breakfast buffet. Walking distance from everything that I enjoy doing on Main Street and in downtown. I park my car when I arrive and don't get in it again until it's time to go home. Keep up the good work!

My wife and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Inn Of Ventura for one night and had a nice stay. The check in and out was very easy, and the newly renovated room was very nice, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. They have a nice pool area and a free breakfast. The front desk employees were also very nice. The total stay was under $100.

We stayed one night at this motel and were assigned to room 282, up some stairs and in the most southwest corner. The good thing about this room is it's directly in front of the train tracks. The bad thing about this room is it's directly in front of the train tracks. Because the tracks cross city streets on either side of the motel, the trains blast the horn as it thunders past. This is great fun and we always ran to the window to watch the Amtrak race by. If you need to get to sleep early, the horns will more than likely wake you. The trains seemed to stop running by 10 p.m. This side of the motel is also next to the 101, so freeway noise is an issue. I brought earplugs and the noise didn't bother me. What did bother me was a firm mattress. Mattresses are a matter of personal preference and I prefer a softer mattress. I woke around 2:00 feeling stiff and didn't drop off again until after 5:00. Unfortunately, I had to be up at 6:30. The room was very clean with an air conditioner that worked great. The little blue chair was comfortable and I enjoyed sitting in it, reading, and waiting for the next Amtrak. We could see the Pacific from our room and noted the pedestrian bridge a block away that would take you to the beach. The water pressure in the shower was fantastic. I wanted to uproot the tub and shower head and bring it home with me. There are many restaurants within walking distance and we enjoyed dinner at The Lure (though my wallet says we should have stopped at Habit Burger instead). Breakfast at the Best Western was typical waffles, powdered eggs, sausage, muffins, yogurt and so forth. It was good and the coffee was hot and fresh. The girls made sure the Buffett remained stocked and clean. There are a few tables on the patio which are nice for watching the homeless walk by. Unfortunately, beach cities and mild weather attract those without homes. There was a bit of panhandling on our way to the pedestrian bridge, but nothing outrageous. I didn't feel unsafe, but stayed alert and aware of my surroundings. Check out isn't until noon, which gave us time for breakfast and beach exploring before packing up and heading out. I'd stay here again, but only after I've forgotten about those mattresses. The location, though, is fantastic and so close to everything that makes Ventura a great little town.

A great experience all the way around. Friendly. Convenient to good restaurants and beach. Quiet. Clean. Classy. Very fresh air. We had a great time and plan to return. We are allergy refugees from LA and this was a good escape. Great Western has always been good over the years.

Great decor, rooms are nice and comfortable and the lobby and pool are immaculate!! The staff is very kind and accomodating. This hotel is an amazing location within walking distance to some of the areas best reataurants, beach and breweries.

I just saw the review "Much better than it looks from the outside" and I almost wrote the same title. We drove up and it seemed the hotel was a bit tired and in need of some love. Then we entered our room and what a nice surprise. Everything looked brand new and clean. A spacious room with everything you might need including a refrigerator and microwave. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We had to ask at the front desk if all the rooms were updated. We were told that the rooms are all updated and now the outside is being updated as well. They are adding a gym and an elevator. Special thanks to Alice and Donald for their attention to our special requests. If you go, be sure to try the Vagabond restaurant nextdoor. You'll feel like you're a bit back in time with neighborly staff and regulars. Try the belgian waffle. Easy walk to the beach and to main street. A park is right across the street with some of the largest trees I've seen in awhile. A very friendly town. We would definitely go back to this hotel again.

The rooms themselves are a great size, refinished recently, and it is nice and quiet. This is definitely not a luxury stay, but if you are not in the room alot, you will be fine. We did a cruise down out of Ventura harbor, so this was great location-wise.

From the outside, it looks like a motel. You drive up and your room is right there. I was a little nervous at first but inside, the room was great. It was quite large. There is a partition in the room that partitions off the restroom area and a sitting area, outside the restroom with a mirror where one could put on makeup or just use as another sitting/work area somewhat apart from the sleeping area. The desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. We needed to leave before breakfast in the morning and was told we could get bagged breakfast to go. When we checked out in the morning, before breakfast opened, and asked for the bags we were told that all but the hot food is setup and we could either just grab what we wanted or get the bagged breakfast. I thought that was great that we were able to just take what we wanted.

Stayed here a couple of nights en route from Los Angeles to San Francisco. A good stopping point. Our room was well-appointed, clean and spacious and had clearly benefited from a recent refurbishment. A special thank you to Rosa and Monica for the great breakfasts we enjoyed to set us up for the day. Also a big thanks to Donald who was most helpful throughout our stay.

This is an older facility that has been updated nicely. But the best part is LOCATION!! It could not be better! It's within a short walk to the downtown restaurants and shops and also a short walk to the beach. We brought bikes and could be on the beach trail in minutes. We wanted to spend four days near the beach without spending a fortune and this was the perfect place. Our room was a little small but big enough to also store our bikes so no complaints there. The room was very quiet. We were on the ground floor but never heard any noise from people around or above us. Everything about the room was nice. We liked the laminate flooring and the housekeeping staff kept the room spotless during our 4 night stay. The front desk staff were always pleasant and helpful. A special shoutout to the gals who make the breakfast. The food was great and they kept the eating area very clean. The only disappointment for our stay was the pool. The website pictures make it look much larger but it really is just a regular small motel pool right next to the street. Otherwise I would give this place 5 stars.

Renovation nice, although a few strange things could use some attention to detail (a picture missing from the wall?!). Quiet enough considering location (Amtrak schedule and a nearby Festival of some sort). Comfortable, clean and a good/hearty breakfast.

this place has a hoyer lift into the pool..so, yes, we got our wheelchair kid into the comfortable tempurature pool : ) not all super fancy, no, no room service, but comfy & clean, not a crappy cheap-o night mare, either. Loved eating outside every morning.

They have renovated this place so don't let the aging exterior fool you. The rooms are contemporary and updated and so is the lobby/breakfast area. Speaking of, shout out to Rosa and Monica who handle the breakfast. The food is fresh along with wonderful made from scratch refried beans and salsa. The mexican-style potatoes were good. The breakfast is a step above standard continental fare with many healthy choices. They also have a yummy waffle maker. Staff was great. For example, I asked for a different office-style chair for my room and they had one to me in minutes. Bottom line, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality.

We always stay at this hotel with the kids and we all love it! Friendly staff, excellent breakfast and so close to shops, restaurants, and beach makes this hotel the ONLY one we stay at! Th rooms are clean and very roomy, our was stocked with a fridge, microwave which is perfect when traveling with teenagers! WIFI was good for everyone too as we all had muliple devices out. Love that they have a full length closet mirror so thie kids could perfect their outfits! Can't wait to come back and stay during the holidays!

I liked this hotel. I found the staff helpful and the room clean and had the usual coffee making facilities and fridge. Parking was free and the breakfast was included in the room rate. The close proximity to the train track is something you will either see as a bonus or a disturbance. Only two or three locomotives went by during my stay but you knew they were coming long before they arrived. I liked it but some wont.

This is a very basic 60s era motel on a well-trafficked street a few blocks from downtown Ventura. It was clean and the bed was comfortable, and WiFi worked. Expensive and nothing noteworthy about the experience.

My husband and I stayed here 3 nights while visiting the Channel Islands and beach communities. The hotel is perfectly located for exploring the area. Two blocks one way, and you're on Main Street with plenty of bars, restaurants, and shopping. Two blocks the other way, you're at the beach! It was a 10 minute drive to the harbor to meet our boat to the island. The hotel has recently been remodeled, and the rooms were clean, and well appointed. There was both a fridge and microwave in the room. The free breakfast was awesome! There was plenty of choices both hot and cold. The women who worked the breakfast room kept everything stocked and fresh, and were very pleasant. In fact every staff member we met was kind, cheerful and helpful! We even ran into the owner, who clearly takes pride in his establishment! We will definitely choose to stay here again when we are in the area!

We stayed at the BWplus Inn of Ventura last week on a Highway 1 road trip from LA to San Francisco. The personnel were all very helpful and courteous . Martin in house keeping helped us with our room. Rosa and Monica provided a very delicious breakfast and were hustling to keep the buffet stocked and the dining room clean. Excellent Job!!!

Had a great experience at the hotel, everyone was very friendly. Especially during breakfast, Monica made me feel at home and gave me an unforgettable experience :) I will definitely come back to this hotel!

That is, to do it right Best Western (or the local owners) have fixed up the insides of the rooms first even though the outside looks a bit shabby. We found our room to be both new and well-designed. There was a table and two chairs (most places just seem to have one chair) plus a separate table for coffee etc. Wood floors. Bathroom had plenty of space for all our toiletries to be laid out and everything worked well. Bed was comfortable (hard as we like it) and we slept well before leaving four our boat ride out to the Channel Islands.

My wife, son-in-law, grandson (age 4) and I went to the beach for a weekend. We chose this hotel due to its location near the beach and local eateries. Since we took the train up fro the LA area, it was a benefit to be within walking distance of the train station as well. The hotel also had an affordable rate and would let all four of us stay in one room with two queen beds. The staff, particularly Cyndi, were all very helpful and friendly and the check-in was simple. I had called ahead of time for early check-in and they had a good room ready for us. Some other benefits of this location were the free breakfast, the onsite pool for those trying to get some sun without the walk to the beach, and working wi-fi. If you want a beach resort, this is not the place to go. If you want a comfortable place to sleep and drop your things while you go around the town, this IS the place to go. Note that there is a large parking lot if you decide to drive instead of train as we did. I'd certainly return to this venue.

Newly renovated, nicely appointed rooms with refrigerator, coffee, decent pillows but not so comfortable bed! The pool was awesome as was the breakfast they provided in the lobby. The beach was a shoe walk away as well as numerous restaurants and Ventura downtown Main Street. Great value!

I felt that the staff was very good. The rooms were spotless and ready for our coming. They had the room just at the right temperature and everything worked great. We got settled in and were very comfortable. The next day we got a quick bite to eat at their breakfast bar which had everything you need to have a great start. 2 Thumbs up!!

This is our favorite summertime retreat area from the summer heat inland. although this is an older hotel, it is continuously in renovation, the rooms are finished and beautiful. They are decorated in a more modern flair with soft tones and very comfortable beds. The location is within walking distance to old town Ventura and great Restaurants. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay even though a few times a day you can hear the train go by and there is some Traffic is noise. The Complementary breakfast was terrific; Rosa was a big help for keeping the coffee going and the food hot and refreshed. The service here is a cut above many other Best Western Hotels.

Upon check in I was given a very stern lecture about hotel smoking policy and then was told they have a baseball bat for anyone throwing cigarette butts on ground. I was not happy about this but was tired from traveling and just wanted to stop for the night. The area is a bit scary and I was worried about my car whole time there. The room had wood floors and very small. Walls are thin and you can hear train going by. Overall not a good experience

This is my 2nd stay at this Best Western. The location is great. Walking distance to many restaurants and around the corner from the pedestrian overpass to access the pier and beach. The exterior is currently going through renovations. Parking is limited, especially on busy summer weekend nights. Breakfast attendant is on top of her game to keep the many selections readily available and hot.

I rated it a 4 because of the remodeling going on; otherwise I would give it a 5. A special shout out to Monica, the friendliest person on site, and Rosanfor cooking fabulous breakfasts. The location made it easy to walk everywhere and the remodeled room was lovely.

Our group stayed at the Best Western for an athletic event. The staff at the hotel was accommodating, friendly and helpful. I liked the fact that the pool is separated from the rooms so that the noise from the pool would not have any impact on the guests. There is a great lounge next to the pool with a fireplace and couches to relax. There is also a large courtyard in the middle of the hotel rooms, another great place to relax or have a gathering. Rooms were clean and spacious. I would recommend getting a room away from the freeway and road to cut down on the noise level. Overall we had an amazing experience and would certainly go back to stay again.

Breakfast Staff Monica and Rosa were awesome!!!!!!They kept everything stocked and cleaned up!!!! The night front desk ALICE WAS HORRIBLE-Super rude and very unprofessional. When we arrived we asked if there was renovations going on at the hotel and she answered NO!! Well there definitely was and NO PARKING at night I JUST CANT BELIEVE SHE LIED TO US !!!

The city of Ventura is great.....but this hotel is NOT!! For the $$ I was disappointed! The landscaping was horrible! The updates and maintenance that needed to be made (as of July 2017) are too many to state!

The renovations are nice, but I had two issues which I addressed at checkout. The gentlemen working the desk at that time (morning of 6/8) thought the best way to resolve the issues by crediting my stay of one night. I was surprised and that is not what I was asking for, but that was his way of resolving the issue.SO he credited my cc for one night stay. I do hope they decide to actually resolve the issues and not have them be repeated for next guests which is why I mentioned them. However, it turns out they charged me anyway (couple of days after the fact) as I just saw the full charge on my cc. I don't appreciate this one bit nor did they have the right to charge my card after processing my room as a credit and giving me a receipt showing it. I even told him that I would be returning to stay here during future medical appts, but not if they are going to be charging me without my permission. And the records all show on my BW account and my bank account that I stayed several days later than what I actually did.

The hotel/room was very adequate and reasonably priced. It's close to downtown, the pier and beach. Surprisingly, the complimentary breakfast had a much wider selection of offerings than expected. The best part was the friendly, attentive service provided by Monica. She greeted my wife and I by name each morning and was genuinely interested in making our breakfast enjoyable. She was the highlight of our stay!

I stayed here one night. My room was on second floor with no elevator. Room very noisy from train, people outside, traffic, water/toilets from other rooms. Room seemed clean but not stellar. I would probably not stay here again given a choice.

Conveniently located near downtown Ventura and near the beach. The pedestrian overpass is right around the corner, so getting to the beach and promenade is easy. My room was clean and well-lit, and the bed was more comfortable than I expected – a nice bonus for the price! Even though it's pleasant enough, this hotel works best as a base from which to go explore the city (as opposed to hanging out in the room or on the grounds). The staff was nice and helpful.

First night in California and wanted somewhere on route north from LA. Best Western was easy to find and the room was spacious and bathroom good. Breakfast was the usual buffet style with hot and cold and a very good choice of items. Staff were helpful and polite.

These two do a fantastic job,.....cut fresh fruit, super well-stocked, all that you'd hope for, .......and excellent service with a smile. Will look forward to my return (-: Some construction/ remodeling underway, but don't let that scare you off.

Stayed last night, after a long drive down the highway 1 there wasn't much chance of a rest as they were drilling next door til 5pm, also if we felt like a lie in this morning as check out is at 12pm, there is no chance of that either, as it sounds like someone is going to come through the wall!! My wife almost got took out by a workman carrying a piece of metal fence they just grinder off as she was coming up the stairs!! They really should tell people at time of booking or offer discount so you can make a informed decision, no doubt once works are finished it will be lovely, but at the minute it's not fit for purpose!!

Ventura's Best Western hotel is centrally located for all that Ventura offers. It is very clean, comfortable, and at a very reasonable cost. This hotel is still under some remodeling, I suspect the completion has been delayed due to the recent fires in Ventura. But I still consider this the best hotel in Ventura.

Before we left home I got an email asking me to check in for tomorrow. This was new. I'm accustomed to checking in online for flights, but this was a first for a hotel stay. I checked in online and noted in the message section that since our flight arrives LAX at 6 am, we might appreciate an early check-in if possible. I was surprised by an almost immediate reply from the manager Donald, and after several texts back and forth -- me saying I really didn't know what time we'd actually get there, and him saying he'd try to have our room ready early. When we did arrive in the early afternoon, a couple hours before regular 4 pm check-in time, Leti, at the front desk, said the room wasn't quite ready yet, but she handled the situation in a very professional manner and in a short amount of time we had our room. I had read previous reviews about the hotel under renovations, and you could see some signs of construction, partially finished walkways and such, but it didn't bother us a bit. Our room was nice and new, and immaculately clean. It was a fine location for walking a couple blocks to dinner, and a little farther in the other direction to view a nice sunset from the pier. And an easy drive to the harbor for a day trip to Channel Islands. Like most BW, breakfast was good and started early. Eggs, crispy bacon, sausage, potatoes, breads, muffins, danish, cereals, waffles, fruits, juices, coffee. Probably more selections I can't remember. All in all, it was a very nice stay.

Simple, quick login, excellent breakfast, great choice, very friendly staff, especially Rosa, clean rooms, good location, very quiet at night, a little soft bed, on the next visit we are surely coming again

We took Amtrak train to Ventura and walked about 10 mins to the Inn from the station. Staff welcomed us and gave us a bigger room rather than one bed room we booked as there was some renovation going on. We stayed in a room with two double beds which was very spacious and clean. The downtown is only 5 mins away and we were able to choose a place to eat from a range of restaurants. The room was quiet throughout the night although the inn is located between big roads, and the bed was as comfortable as it can be. There's a buffet breakfast which was small in range but enough to meet all types of breakfast needs (both cooked and continental breakfast, plus fresh fruits, ranges of coffees and waffle machine!). What we were most impressed with was when the staff at the reception offered us a lift to the train station after we checked out. It is only 10mins away on foot but we accumulated some stuff so we were very happy for the staff's gesture.

Full disclosure: this review is based off our one night stay. 1. The staff were very friendly at check in and check out and made us feel welcome. 2. The hotel IS currently undergoing renovations so the OUTSIDE does not look great. But don't let that scare you! 3. The room itself was updated nicely, the bed was firm and very comfortable. There was a window in the bathroom, which I love for natural light. The room was clean. I love having a fridge and microwave. 4. The location is great. Our room had an ocean view. It's very close (walking distance) to several restaurants, a park, and the ocean. I was a little worried that there would be a lot of noise from highway traffic and there were train tracks right outside our window, but with the windows closed we didn't hear any cars or trains. 5. The hotel felt safe. Our room was in a corner that is near the renovation/construction. Honestly, I was worried it would be dark when we got back late at night because it was quite a dark corner in the daytime, but it was very well lit at night. The area feels pretty safe as well. 6. The lobby is welcoming and renovated. There's a nice little continental breakfast. 7. I didn't give a perfect review because the trash cans should be emptied more frequently (there was a trash can right outside our door that was overflowing from check in to check out, and also the one in the breakfast room was overflowing). There were fingerprints in the window facing the ocean, so the window could use some cleaning. Overall we had a good experience and we would stay there again and recommend it to others.

Early April 2018,and staying here with my husband on a business trip. Although the rooms will be very nice once finished, this place is being remodeled extensively. Our room is located in a corner, with rooms, stairwells, walkways all being worked on during our stay. Power tools, workmen, bang bang bang whirrr, whirrr. (one even opened our door this morning, not knowing the room was occupied!). Unless you plan just to stay to sleep, I would not stay here until renovations are complete. If you must stay here, demand a discount.

Good location can walk to town and a short drive to beach, friendly, helpful staff. Clean comfortable rooms with internet provided and a comfortable bed. The breakfast room was clean and tidy and the breakfast was good with a variety of choices. Will stay here again

I really like the hotel location, walking distance from beach and downtown. My room was a renewed one, was really clean. Included breakfasts is good and staff is friendly. I was invited to come back any time.

Very nicely located near the pier and the coast in walking distance. Very friendly people, decent rates. The breakfast girl Rosa is doing an excellent job! So is Donald at the reception. Nothing for yuppies, but excellent for down-to-earth people who love Amefican way of life type of motels.

The Best Western Plus Inn of Ventura was satisfactory in all levels. We understood that it was going through remodeling, which was not an issue at all. The room was comfortable, and the breakfast was fantastic!

From the early, or very late night Check-in, we were welcomed with friendly smiles. The included breakfast was very tasty! The people who work in the breakfast area were awesome! Roger was a very funny and kind man, and Rosa did a great job keeping the food coming! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The roll away cot however was not! All in all, it was a very pleasant stay!

Both trips were for one week. I wanted a place with breakfast. This was the only one. I wanted a place that reasonable in price. I also wanted a place that was very clean. This hotel is two blocks off Main St. in Ventura, just across from the park. Everything is within walking distance. Other hotels if attending events or meeting others. Walk all of downtown from this hotel! The beach is right behind it! The hotel is very clean. They have almost completed the remodeling since my first stay. The first floor has laminate wood flooring, for easy cleaning! I stayed upstairs, and I must say, all the work done was good. No slanting countertops, no gobs of caulking around the NEW porcelain tubs, and the granite counters are straight! I did not see this quality at the Hyatt or Westin! The vanity area for make up is great, with a good light, just outside the bathroom. The beds are new and WAY too comfortable. Makes you want to stay in! The breakfast is a full breakfast with attendees nearby, for those who are still asleep and can't find a spoon. (Me!) What I liked the best that I have not seen anywhere else yet? The little LED light, in the bathroom fan that works on a motion sensor. WOW! You walk in, in the middle of the night and it auto comes on, just enough to see but not interrupt your sleep! While you're not moving, it goes off. I prefer this hotel, to the others in Ventura.

We were greeted with a smile! Location was absolutely perfect within walking distance to some great nightlife! Room was comfortable and clean and newly remodeled. Continental breakfast was a nice start to the day. I'd definitely stay here again!

The rooms are the comfiest I've ever stayed in. The hotel staff is full of the kindest people, Rosa helped tremendously while I was searching the huge selection of breakfast items. You can tell the location is well cared for. I will be back!

We stayed here due to recent mandatory evacuations in our area. Room was comfortable and quite large. There were quite a few options at the included breakfast. Hotel near downtown and in nice weather, an easy walk to the beach and pier.

This property is under renovations! We have stayed at many BW Plus hotels and have always been impressed with the quality. We were not overly impressed with this one. Nor were we impressed with the employee who checked us in. She was a bit rude when we asked how this hotel is a 'plus'. Granted that question may have come across as rude, but we really wanted to know. The checking out person was much more pleasant. Though our remodeled room was clean and functional (sort of - closet doors were really short?), the property is more of a Motel 6 like feel. The bed was quite uncomfortable for us. It is right next to the freeway and train trussel, so noise was somewhat of an issue. The pool water was green, not sure if it was even available for use. The breakfast was typical free breakfast stuff. Maybe, once they finish their remodel it will become a BW Plus. Right now, it's just a BW Plus want-to-be!

Don't be fooled by the Plus designation of this hotel; it's clearly a mistake. It's undergoing renovation which might explain why finding a parking spot is always a struggle. The spaces are too narrow for most modern day vans and construction trucks are forced to straddle 2 spaces. Some other features are: No USA newspapers at this site. TV in breakfast room is only allowed to be set to local stations (according to desk gal I asked to change it) Water heater temp set so low it is impossible to get a hot shower or bath. There is no gym. Rooms are very small; none come with 2 queen beds. This location is almost sitting on tracks; 5 trains roll through every night. Their "business office" consists of 2 computers in the entry way/breakfast area. Difficult to get any serious work done. Not sure this hotel will become any more desirable when its redo is complete. it will still have outside entrances to each room and they will remain small.

My husband and I were in town to visit my son and his family. We have been trying different hotels to see which one is a keeper. This one is in the running. The room was more than adequate. The staff was friendly and the morning breakfast room was very nice with varied food choices. (A shout-out to Rosa and Lorena, our friendly breakfast ladies.) The hotel is convenient to the downtown Ventura area, the beach, and our son's house.

TripAdvisor app crapped out on me so this second review will be short.... All hotels were sold out due to evacuations and I ended up getting a room here by sheer luck. I ended up staying the two extra nights here because Alice, the front desk person, was incredibly helpful, quick thinking and accomadating. THANK YOU ALICE! The hotel is getting remodeled and my room was nice , with a bath and the bed was pretty darn good. This isn't a high end hotel by any means, nor is that its intention, but if you are passing through and need something clean and economic with great staff then stay here.

We were there on a very quiet week after New Years on way to LA. It was cheaper that week. Breakfast was good. Parking area was under construction but no problems from it. We will stay there next time.

I booked a couple of rooms at this hotel for a family vacation and arrived before the rest of my crew. This is not a nice place in terms of location, rooms, lobby, pool. I knew the rest of my family would not want to stay here. I called BW central reservations and they immediately refunded my entire stay. Thus the reason for 2 stars. I don't think I am the first guest to have this reaction.

My wife and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Inn Of Ventura to break up the drive from San Francisco to San Diego. We have stayed at a number fo Best Western Plus hotels and found this one to be the least attractive of any of the properties. The exterior of the hotel looks early 1960s - vines that used to climb up the hotel are dead and hanging from old supports, the drainpipes are all oddly hanging down from the 2nd floor bent in at a support midway, the exterior hallways bend in and out looking like either a design flaw or significant movement has occurred. In other words, very unappealing! The rooms are better - simply decorated with reasonable decor - but not terribly inviting. The room and bathroom were both very clean. The bed was comfortable - a key factor in any stay. A few other things to note: >Included breakfast is the typical mix of unhealthy options - expected - but we passed and spent a few dollars to eat a real breakfast next door. >We had planned to walk across a pedestrian overpass to eat dinner at a restaurant on the water. Be aware - the pedestrian overpass is closed indefinitely making access to the beach longer and much less appealing. >The noise level was fairly high - including 2 people yelling at each other late at night on the sidewalk and a car alarm that went off around midnight. >The internet service was spotty - generally slow with periodic complete outages. A convenient location on the way to LA or beyond - but far from our favorite Best Western!

Alice is the whole reason why we decided to stay at the Ventura best western she is an absolutely amazing person very good at her job. There really needs to be a gym and hot tub on the facility but as long as Alice is there I will return

I used to stay at the Country Inn when I came to Ventura for Christmas, but now that it's been sold it's way too expensive for what it is. So I tried the Best Western this time, and was really happy with my choice! The rooms have been redone and are very comfortable, the staff are really friendly and helpful, and the complimentary breakfast is good (although I came at Christmas and there aren't very many tables, so I had to take it back to my room). All in all, a very nice though basic place to stay!

We had just driven 500 miles and we were beat. It was a treat to check into a nice, clean and quiet room. We needed a cocktail and dinner and followed the advise of the desk clerk and we were able to walk to a great restaurant. Wish we would have had more time to enjoy the beach and this facility.

I stay here because it is convenient, clean & usually the least expensive. It has a very convenient location: 2 blocks to the Beach, 2 blocks to Downtown, & 1 block to the Art Gallery Cindy & Leticia are always friendly & helpful in comparison to the other front desk staff. The new floors are clean, the pillows soft, the bed was a bit hard. I would have liked an extra blanket. The price varies and is usually on the high end, but there aren't many hotels to choose from in Ventura. The breakfast is just awful: Unhealthy & chemical laden, powdered eggs, odd sausage, beans (no tortillas or cheese), they syrup is not maple syrup at all. The hotel is adjacent to the train, which stops down the street... so you will hear the train.

Once again I was very satisfied with the quality of the room that looked recently remodeled and resembled a mini suite. The bed and pillows were great and the room was quiet. The breakfast was a standard hot breakfast including sausage, eggs, potatoes, assorted juices, coffee and pastries. I also ate some of the melons but did not sample the yogurt or cereals. My only issue was with the high speed internet. I tried on several occasions to log in and kept getting the message, "firewall authentication failed, please try again." I would verify the password given to me at check in but to no avail. The hotel offered a phone number for trouble-shooting but I was too tired to deal with that and just used my cell phone data. This hotel in located near downtown and only minutes from the hospital and medical offices. It is about three blocks from the beach and the Ventura Pier. I was in and out this time so ate nearby and did not go to the beach. Also there was smoke in the air from the Thomas Fire so I went to a nearby restaurant then back to the room. I was there only one night for a followup with my surgeon the following day.

The front desk staff & especially the manager is rude & unhelpful. The rooms are noisey you can hear people in the next rooms, when someone takes a shower it sounds like a river is running through your room. Tiles unfinished, wallpaper coming apart and very expensive for a room & services that aren't better than a motel 6.

We had gone to the Reagan Library in Simi Valley that day. We wanted to stay by the ocean it was 30 miles from Simi Valley. It was very nice close to the ocean..Very nice room & the breakfast was good with lots of choices.

Stopped on route in Ventura and needed an inexpensive room for the night. Very pleased. Room was clean, towels were nice, and bed was comfy. Room appeared to be updated and had a microwave, frig, and even an ironing beard. Outside of building appears to be in the process of an update. Staff was very friendly. Room included a free breakfast which we did not take advantage of, but it looked good. Plan to stay here again on route home.

We have stayed at several of the BW plus motels. Until this one they were great, with a comfortable bed. This motel is not in the plus category. First BW motel I have slept in with an uncomfortable mattress. And decrepide feeling.

This was the second time we've stayed at the Inn of Ventura. Its not fancy and it has exterior hotel room doors, so if security is an issue, this is probably not the hotel for you. But, its relatively clean and relatively quiet, and it is just a pedestrian overpass away from the Ventura Pier.

This Best Western Plus is great! It is reasonably priced, has a nice location, a great breakfast, and a nice pool. We have been staying here for about the past 10 years. We visit family while in the area, and generally stop by Ventura Harbor on the way home. I recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.

Clean room, nice beds, good free breakfast and free parking. Walking distance to downtown restaurants. Reasonable price. Great for one or two night stay.Check-in was quick. Express checkout is a plus.

Pleasant staff, clean room, comfortable bed. The fan/light in the bathroom was a bit strange, with a sickly, green nightlight that continuously flashed on and off at random intervals, but it was not visible from the bed, so not an issue for sleeping comfort.

My BFF visiting from CT and myself (Santa Cruz, CA) spent three nights/days here while we explored all that Ventura, SB, and Ojai had to offfer. When in Ventura, we were able to leave the car parked and walk downtown, to the beach, etc. Nice breakfast in the morning. Helpful staff. Room and accomodation was perfect for us.

The hotel has been recently remodeled.. It's very clean and in good repair. The neighborhood is great with many historical buildings and great restaurants. Unfortunately, this hotel scrimped on the cost of beds. My bed was as hard as a sheet of plywood. If you need a good night's rest, I would avoid this place.

Excellent value at this hotel. Clean room with all amenities. Pleasant surprise! Location is close to freeway, but also close to downtown shops and restaurants. Ate at a great sports bar downtown, and enjoyed checking out the shops.

We discovered Ventura by accident 6yrs ago in passing and decided on this trip we would stay a night to explore more. Reading the reviews made it a difficult choice but we were glad we chose here. Ideally placed to walk into the historic district and to the beach. Nice staff. Good breakfast - not a full cooked breakfast but more than just cereal and juice.

Alice at the front desk was very unfriendly. When I arrived to check in she didn't even greet me with a smile or any type of warm welcome. I also have never encountered a hotel so unwilling to help with a credit card authorization. She said there was no way she could accept a credit card authorization for me to use a card that I am an authorized user on. I worked at Hyatt and we handled credit card authorizations daily for business travelers and other guests. I guess you don't accept people traveling on business with their company card either then? The only good thing about the hotel was the waffles at breakfast. The bathroom was dirty and not up to pair for a $100 a night hotel.

Once again we stayed at this hotel and once again we were delighted with our stay. The staff really make the effort to keep the hotel spotlessly clean, housekeeping is very efficient. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable and we found the hotel to be very quiet, we slept very well. The location is wonderful, everywhere is easy to walk to. Special thanks again to Alice for looking after us, she is a great asset to the hotel. I can't wait for my next visit.

The service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly. The interior decor of the rooms was nice and clean with lots of space - including a separate dressing vanity with chair and mirror and counter. The breakfast selection was excellent! The price was very reasonable for S CAL. The outside looked a little run down but they are planning a renovation of the exterior.

Front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Rooms were large with refrigerator and coffee maker. Pool area provides a nice place to relax after a day of travel. Breakfast was great. Good selection of hot and cold options available for guests. Location was close to major roads but far enough away to get a good night sleep. It is only a short walk to the ocean.

Nice updated room (for an old Best Western). 2 story structure without elevator. There were train tracks right behind our room. We heard and felt trains once, but it did not wake us at night. There was a pool but it was in a fenced area right by road. Not a relaxing location so we didn't use it & can't comment on actual pool. Decent but typical hotel breakfast w eggs, sausage, pastries, cereal etc. included. It suited our purposes for a place to stay one night.

The walls are very thin. During our stay, the guests five or six rooms down were loud and partying late at night. Called into the desk attendant but he did nothing. Luckily, another guest, an older lady, kept yelling at them to shut it down. Paying $199/night to be kept up all night -- I can't recommend this hotel. It's overpriced and definitely not worth it.

My husband and I had concert tickets to the Granada Theatre on 9/23/17 so I tried to find a reasonable hotel in Santa Barbara and nearby vicinities but nothing was less than $250/night that weekend. So, in tried the Ventura area and found this Best Western for $125/night(weekends are a little higher, I believe) that included breakfast. I was apprehensive, thinking Ventura was like Oxnard, which my husband definitely would not stay. But when we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the quiet beach town that had Victorian homes, a park nearby, walking distance to the beach, a variety of different kinds of restaurants , antique stores, novelty stores and even nice 2nd hand stores; also a grocery store nearby. The hotel was very clean and fairly quiet. I did hear the train but from my room it wasn't an issue. The room had a coffee maker and refrigerator. We had a queen room, which was good size with a good size bathroom, closet and dressing area. Breakfast consisted of eggs, sausage, toast, patatoes, oatmeal and waffles you can make; also various juices, coffee and fresh fruit. The only negative is that after a 3 hour drive, we arrived at 4:20pm (check in is 4) and our room was not ready. We were told it would be another 20 minutes. Didn't seem to be a big deal to the clerk and no apology, which I felt was not good customer service.

Not up to usual standards of best western .on arrival was greeted by a cold and frosty person with apparently no customer skills . Location good room ok apart from bathroom fan that could not be switched off such a waste of electricity!! Breakfast average but having come from other best western without plus breakfast selection was much better . Pool ok but a bit dirty 6 out of 10

Don't judge this place by its old-style motel exterior. The rooms are totally updated, quiet, and comfortable. The air conditioning unit was whisper-quiet. Breakfast was better than average for a Best Western Plus. Staff all were friendly. Excellent value for Ventura. If you like seafood, try Lure Restaurant which is an easy walk from this hotel, in the town, not on the pier.

There was a stupid cricket inside the room and we couldn't sleep for 2hrs until we found the cricket and kill it I even took a picture. I reported to the service guess and i got the worst excuse ever.

Staff was very friendly. Best Western remodeled the rooms hard wood floors showers are nice. Microwave and refrigerator in the room very convenient air conditioner worked very nice. Breakfast was awesome. They serve yogurt, toppings for your yogurt or by itself, bread, bagels, danish, fresh fruit, hot and cold cereal, juice, milk, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, waffle, scramble eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, refried beans. It is close to the beach, downtown, fairgrounds, and close to the freeway. Thanks Best Western

The rooms are clean and house keeping does an excellent job. They are friendly. Also the Breakfast is excellent hot and good verity. Rosa and Nayeli kept the food full and everything was clean. They were very helpful to. The only downfall is the train blowing its horn. We heard it once at night but the rooms seem to have good sound proofing. This hotel is great for the value.

Recently renovated rooms, comfy bed, nice towels and toiletries. Great location to access downtown restaurants and the Ventura pier by walking. Included a decent breakfast, lots of options and the eggs were cooked! The breakfast staff was especially friendly. Do request a room away from the train tracks!

This a OLDER - Best Western however has had some remodeling. Rooms are comfortable and neat, the breakfast selection is very nice. Fresh fruit, juices, and other hot food to choose from. Easy access from the freeway and close to some nice restaurants. Could use some improvements to the building exterior.

We can't complain. Service was excellent and the breakfast we had attended by Rosa & Nayeli was amazing. Only thing I would add to the breakfast would be bacon. Room was really good, loved the bathroom.

We flew into LAX late on a Wednesday and wanted to get a bit out of town that night to avoid traffic the next morning. This was a great choice. Nice room. Loved that the floors are not carpet! Felt more clean. Great BW breakfast! Will stay here again!

Some rooms were under renovation during my stay. My room was upstairs, did not hear any train sound. Best to wear ear plugs! Room was a bit small but clean. Breakfast was not a wide variety like some other hotels. Stff was friendly. Location is central.

The room was clean and well maintained. The staff was pleasant and professional. The complementary breakfast was one best I have had at a BW, even though it was a weekday. I will stay here again and recommend it. There is a train that runs behind the hotel, but we were in a room towards the front and didn't hear the train unless the window was open.

We only stop there for one night. The room was clean and spacious. It is close to a railway. The train woke me during the night and again early morning (before 6am) Breakfast included in the price we found quite high for a Best Western motel…

Poor service - they treat you like you're at a motel. The lady at check-in was rude. Later we needed towels and we had to go get them ourselves. The breakfast selection wasn't good. They had a sign posted about gluten free and dairy free products, but they didn't have anything but water. The price was too high for the amenities! It was clean and safe but that's it.

We have stayed at Best Westerns in the past relying on the chain to provide with us a clean room. We scheduled this stay to occur after 2 days of backpacking on Santa Cruz Island. We got to the hotel at about 700 PM eagerly anticipating a shower and early bed time as we were exhausted. When we arrived they had assigned us to one of the upper rooms. I asked to be moved to a lower level room, but she said they were sold out. When accepted the room, went up to find the windows open and all of the carpet wet (very wet). We were willing to overlook the wet carpet and the undesirable room location as we really just wanted a shower and to go to bed. I undressed and hopped in the shower, only to realize that it had not been cleaned!!!! There were dark black pubic hairs on the walls and tub. I was horrified. We searched the other hotels in town for a room. Couldn't find one. Apparently there was a festival of some sort in town. Spent the night, dirty, in the dirty, disgusting room because we had no other options. I will never stay at this Best Western again. I suggest you avoid this one, too.

THE room was very clean, but the drapes were broken and couldn't be moved. The breakfast buffet was pretty good and had a variety of food. The negatives are that the train is SO loud at night that it woke me up twice. The walls are thin and you can hear everything. The bed was decent, but not the best we slept on before. Good location, walking distance to everything.

I always stay at this Best Western when travel to Ventura for business. The room is nice. The A/C is ductless type with wall thermostat. It is very quiet. The breakfast has everything I need to start the morning. There are many restaurants close by. This hotel is very close to the ocean.

Excellent location if you are visiting Ventura. Easy walking distance to everything including the beach and downtown. There are many restaurants, pubs and shopping located on Main St. We were in town to attend the Dallas Cowboys Training Camp in Oxnard which was just a few short miles down the freeway.

This Hotel was within walking distance to all that Ventura has to offer. It's staff is very accommodating and cheerful. Only thing to worry about is the homeless population in the area, but you will find it anywhere you choose to stay in Ventura. Close to beach, fairgrounds and Main St. shops. Enjoy!

This motel ranks right in the middle of the pack. Nothing special here, but it is clean and has a friendly staff. The area is close to the beach and other sites to see in the area. If you are passing through and the price is right, then stop here.

I just want to recommend this hotel to everyone in general for the amenities, service and proximity to state and local beaches.

We really enjoyed our recent stay here. Motel is well located for downtown and the beach as it's about a 10 minute walk to each. The room was modern and clean with all the facilities expected in a Best Western - fridge, toiletries, coffee making facilities. The bed was very comfortable and gave a perfect nights sleep. Breakfast was good with fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, scrambled eggs and sausages, and a waffle maker. The staff were friendly and efficient, and there's a heated pool to cool off in at the end of the day. An ideal stop off for visitors to Ventura. Note on noise - we found it very peaceful and didn't notice the noise from the roads or railway other than the odd train horn on the morning we checked out. Other reviewers, however, have found it a problem so might be something to consider but it certainly wasn't an issue for us.

We had a recent visit with family and stayed at the BW Ventura. The hotel is immaculate with a plentiful breakfast and great location within walking distance to beach, restaurants and downtown.This hotel in Ventura is a great value for a family beach vacation in Southern California.

Good value for the money and good location near downtown Ventura and beach. But Amtrak and freight trains run outside the back windows to many rooms. Very noisy at night. Air conditioning a bit hard to figure out. Tv remote didn't work. Staff very friendly and breakfast as expected for a best western.

This was my wife's first comment when we drove up to the hotel. Check in was fine. The room was nicely updated but we discovered active train tracks right behind the hotel. We could hear the whistle and the roar of the trains, especially the freight trains. They did a good job muffling the sound with new windows etc but it was still somewhat loud. However it did not keep us awake at night. It's a great location for walking to downtown Ventura, and it's within walking distance to the pier and some great places to eat. We ended up liking the location better than the hotel but it was 'ok'...

I stayed at this hotel for five nights in late July. While the hotel has a rather standard exterior, the rooms are nicely furnished, with all the amenities. And the staff is kind, courteous and hardworking. They are always smiling. The breakfast buffet is very generous and very good. Yes, there are train tracks behind the hotel, and you can hear the train whistles at night, but I still slept well. The location is convenient to everything - the beach is very walkable, as are the dozens of restaurants on Main St. I will definitely stay here again!

Great location, you can easily walk to the beach as well as downtown to any place you want to eat. Only down side was the festival across the street had drums beating so loud you had to leave the hotel to get away from it. Went to Ojio to an Olive mill and it was very interesting.

The location of this property is perfect for most activities. It is just a short walk over the freeway bridge to get to the beach, and just a few blocks the other way to get to downtown. The front desk staff is efficient and professional. The rooms are large and roomy. Housekeeping is wonderful; they came early and we were not ready, so they came later. We were back in the room by that time, but they still cleaned very thoroughly and with a smile.

Don't be put off by the external appearance. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were surprisingly clean and spacious. We particularly liked the separate small kitchen/office area. The location was good, just a short stroll to Ventura pier and beach, and also there are many bars/restaurants close by. The breakfast buffet was a bit of a lottery though ! They need more space and tables, especially as the hotel was full

Excellent service and hotel facilities for a family leisure short stay in Ventura. Great location, close to both beach and main street, where many good restaurants, movie theater, etc. The hotel swimming pool is clean and has a good size. Kids and parents are all happy with the hotel.

The location is within a short drive of the beach without paying beach prices. The outside of the hotel, while clean, isn't all that impressive but the lobby and rooms are exceptional. Everything is extremely cleaned and well-maintained. Wonderful breakfast - had two different kinds of sausage and bacon along with the usual eggs, waffles, etc.

We wanted to escape the Las Vegas heat and see the beach for a few days. We selected this hotel due to the relatively good rate and proximity to the beach. It was a good choice, the room was comfortable, included a frig and microwave, and was a short 10 minute walk to the pier and beach. We requested (and were given) a room that didn't back onto the highway and train track, and noise was not an issue. Breakfast was pretty good with eggs, waffles, sausages, cereal, fruit, danishes. The woman who worked breakfast was always on the move, bringing out food, cleaning tables, showing people how to use the waffle machine. Give her a raise! The breakfast area can get a little crowded (c'mon people, when you're done eating and there are people waiting, leave!!). Staff was very friendly and the room was clean. We enjoyed our stay there.

Exterior décor is a bit dated. Rooms however, are modern 60's retro style. Great breakfast and very well stocked. Nayeli the attendant was very efficient, helpful, and friendly. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and will be definitely coming back.

I was initially disappointed when I arrived at 4;15 pm. I had spoke to a nice lady earlier in the day and asked her to select me a nice room. When I arrived I was told I was in room 221. The lady forgot to tell me that the train( the railroad)was within spitting distance of the room. It was an Ocean View( when you stood-up). we were next to the freeway.The room was updated( we travel frequently) and was adequate( considering the age). The noise was not real bad. The train at 5 was my wake up call. I would go back.

We stopped here overnight down the coast. This was a great location to the beach. It was one block to the bridge that goes to the beach. A couple blocks in the other direction are restaurants. We stayed in a queen room the bed was comfortable. There was a vanity, fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Everything you need. We didn't stay for breakfast because it started to late 7 or 730 so I cannot comment on that.

I am so impressed with my remodeled room. It had a frig, microwave, and the bathroom had new flooring, tub, etc. I was very happy. The bed was so comfortable that I got a great night sleep. The breakfast selection was excellent with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, cereal, bread, yogurt, excellent coffee, several selections of tea, oatmeal. I let management know that the deadbolt did not work, but the other lock worked fine. This is a great stay and a great value.

Great hotel stay and close to near by downtown Ventura and state beaches. Also, Breakfast comes included with your rate. Nayli the breakfast server was very attentive and hard working. She helped us and the kids with our waffle preparation and with bringing us warm mil. The only Con is that we asked for bacon on 2 different occasions and dates but the cook keep telling the server to let us know that there wasn't any. Overall, I will stay here again.

This hotel continues to improve and looks better and better each trip. The staff if friendly and the room had great A/C system. The area is intresting with lots of restaurants and bars within. Walking distance.

As far as first impressions go, the desk clerk did not do much for the hotel. She did not smile or offer much help when asked for suggestions of what to do/see on the 4th of July, but maybe she was having a bad day. The room was clean and quiet. The pool was also clean and just the right temperature. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choices. I would return here when in the area.

My husband and I traveled to Ventura for 3 days. The room was very nice. It was walking distance to beach, down town events and the little resturant at Vegabound hotel. Great food and cheap. We enjoyed our visit.

The rooms have plenty of space and are very comfortable. The air conditioner was worked well and was quiet. Walking distance from shops, restaurants and beach. The free breakfast was quite good. The only down side is that the hotel exterior looks old and drab.

I agree--do not let outside fool you-it is a very clean, nice motel. Staff is friendly & the breakfast is wonderful. Easy walk into the town & many restaurants closeby. I would recommend this motel. Rooms are nice & plenty toiletries & big towels. There is a pool.

Very clean hotel & walking distance to historic quaint town. Excellent breakfast with many good choices for everyone & friendly staff. Internet was a bit spotty but it did work. Housekeeping was very prompt & friendly.

We traveled through Ventura on a whim and decided to stay the night, we had booked this hotel via our smart phone through Best Western website, price was comparable for the area. When we pulled into the parking, by exterior appearance, we were not sure if we wanted to stay there but chose to see the room first. It was a pleasant surprise and we chose to stay. Don't let the exterior detour you, the room was updated, modern, clean and comfortable. The bed was not a 10 but slept fine. Nice big room, plenty of space to move around and relax. The Vagabond Inn is right next door and has a very good restaurant, which was especially nice since the breakfast area at the Best Western was rather small and very crowded, we chose to eat at the restaurant next door - it was a good choice, good food. We would stay at this hotel again, I rate it about a 7 only in comparison to some of the nicer Best Westerns but if you are in the area, this is an ok choice for the price.

Stayed at hotel for 6 days. Was in Ventura for treatment at the hospital there. Had room with walk in shower and assistance bars for after medical procedure. Room was very acceptable and clean. Housekeeping did a great job of keeping bathroom floors cleaned. Staff was very helpful and breakfast was good. Only two issues: 1: Wireless Internet connection rarely was usable in my room so had to go to lobby to use it; 2) It took an inordinate amount of time to get hot water in the shower.

The rooms have been refurbished, beds very comfortable but without carpet on floors they are cold so bring some slippers. Nice but not exciting! Breakfast edible but not something to write home about. Saying that breakfast is edible is huge for me as a couple of the last hotels we have had breakfast the food was doubtful at best!

This is an older property, but the rooms have been recently remodeled, the staff are extremely cordial and the breakfast bar is quite good. In addition there is a very good family restaurant next door at a hotel owned by the same company and the room rate is quite reasonable. I would definitely stay there again.

Downtown gem. Ventura is a good hotel black hole when you travel as much as we do. Luckily, our regular haunts were full, forcing us to stay at this downtown motel. What a great surprise. Owners kept the old charm but upgraded everything to clean and modern at a fair price. Breakfast was crowded but for good reason. Good food and helpful staff. Kept on top of shortages and kept it clean. Carlos was very nice too. This will become our go to Motel going forward.

Our room was renovated and the hotel is minutes from the beach. My only complaint here is about Rosa and her lack of courtesy towards me. I asked her for oatmeal as she was putting it away and not only did she handed it to me in a bad mood but was also rolling her eyes at the same time. I understand that me asking her for oatmeal after 3 or 4 minutes of breakfast being over might of inconvenienced her but this is by no means acceptable behavior toward the guests .My family and I are having second thoughts about staying here at this hotel again once the Ventura County Fair starts.

I'd like to extend my special thanks to the entire staff at Best Western Plus in lovely Ventura, California. Our welcome was effortless, and we were situated in our room in no time. As a former contractor, I was very impressed by the design and layout of the room. Keeping aside the nice amenities like micro/fridge, the room was very well-appointed with new mattresses and box springs, beautiful framed photos, a separate vanity alcove -- and more. The rooms look and feel new, which is great. The finish-work (tile,grout,paint/paper,caulk) in the bathroom was close to flawless, with high-quality fixtures, and a nice shower with hefty pressure. The staff here are extremely hardworking, detail-oriented -- and 100% geared towards pleasing their guests. From the front desk, to housekeeping & maintenance -- I can't thank the good folks at the Best Western Plus enough. The hotel is also perfectly situated in relation to downtown, as well as the Ventura Pier, promenade and beaches! Nearby food options abound, and there are several great spots located within a 3-5 minute walk. Fresh Mexican, a phenomenal local fish spot which serves everything from Ceviche (awesome), to a wide assortment of seafood delights. And, of course, the proximity to HWY 101, which is extremely convenient, especially if travelling to Ojai, Lake Casitas -- and throughout greater Los Padres National Forest (HWY 33) I am now planning a return trip to Ventura from the Best Western Chateau in Big Bear Lake. I definitely didn't need to think twice about returning here - VENTURA - for my birthday, and the Fourth of July! We're excited to see the fireworks, meet old friends -- and watch multicolored sunsets from the hotel balcony. That's my super-favorable review for the Best Western Plus in lovely Ventura, CA. If you're not a Best Western Rewards member, you may wish to sign up when you check-in. You'll need to call the 800 number for the more arcane details on points and rebates, but it's worth it. I just got a free night, though spent quite a bit to earn it. In all, it's worth it. Oh, and Do Not miss their fresh morning breakfast, served in the dining room adjacent to the welcome desk. We stay in Ventura frequently and are used to finding kind of shabby rooms. This was a pleasant surprise-nicely renovated and clean rooms, comfortable beds, good shower, friendly staff, and a great breakfast! Slightly strange smell in the room (cleaning products?), but a little Febreze and the room was perfect! 5 stars if the slight odor was gone. Carlos was a gem and we will definitely stay here again!

Rooms okay ..would have been a 5 star if not for the manager he INSISTS you watch the weather channel during breakfast on mute...He stated to me that HE knows what people want to watch tv during breakfast and prefer to hear everyone's else's conversations instead of the tv..refuses to put it on any channel except weather and ALWAYS on mute...it was very arrogant of him to assume that the entire world agrees with him. Since we stay at BW every week a cross California this is the first BW that has this "self imposed policy" from the manager.He was rude when speaking with me and very hard headed and arrogant. Would not recommend his attitude since now it is forever ingrained on my perception of the BW IN VENTURA....we may have to skip this one from now on with our work travel....

The hotel is pretty old but updated. It is very clean. Breakfast is quite good with a good variety. Unfortunately the only option is a queen bed in a pretty small room. Apparently there is no one on duty at night in a very large hotel. No way to get service is if there is a problem.

We came to Ventura as our granddaughter was graduating from UCSB. Our stay at Best Western was great. Able to walk to most everything. The staff was particularly friendly and helpful. Not always do you get a really comfortable bed but we had one here!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed here for two nights in May 2017. Friendly staff at check in, clean comfy rooms but no info on pool/breakfast times. Bathroom extractor fan would not switch off told reception but reply was it was normal for the room??? told to keep bathroom door shut!! Maintenance called to check and man said the sensor was broken but not repaired up to time we left. Now for the good bit ALEJANDRA the breakfast room was the most polite hardworking lady and really deserves 10 STARS. Thank you so much for that.

Room was nicely furnished and clean. Heard people from outside but not from room to room. Nice location if you like to walk to shops and restaurants. The wifi was a real problem for me and made me crazy. Thought it was just because so many people were using it but it was even bad at odd times during the day.

I would rate this motel/hotel higher, except, for the sound of the occasional train that roared by. To me, this motel is reminiscent of the old motor motels of years past, basically, you park in front of your room or take the stairs to your room. What you see on the outside is not what you get on the inside! The interior is very much updated and very nice. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. Also, with the newer vehicles, the parking spaces are a bit tight! Very nice staff!

This is the second time I have stayed at the Best Western in Ventura. The location is fabulous, a quick jump on the 101 freeway to go up to Santa Barbara. The rooms have been recently remodeled and are very well done, room is comfortable and clean. The rooms are also very quiet. The staff is wonderful, they make sure you are taken care of. I will be back!

Excellent hotel value. Room was extremely clean and had every amenity we could ask for. Bed was comfortable. Even had a working bathroom fan--something rare these days! Only minus was freeway and general traffic noise - but this was minor.

Loved the clean and comfortable rooms. Location is not on beach but it is comfortable walk from bars and restaurants. The rooms have obviously been renovated recently and my picky wife didnt have any complaints. This is our 2nd stay at a best western (i am platinum elite with marriott) and we will stay at one again

Marathon runners were given. Real fast starting at 3:00am!! Staff was friendly and went out of their way to accommodate marathon runners. I will be back in October for another marathon and already made my reservation!

We stayed at this hotel 3 deperate times over the last few years and find it a good value. They just replaced the beds but I feel they made a poor selection. Very firm. They are walking distance from down town and a short drive to the beach. Well lit and good security at night so we felt safe. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Don't let the looks fool you. While a little dated on the outside the rooms are udated. Clean and well supplied. Fridge and microwave worked well also. Front desk staff was always informative and pleasant. The breakfast offered a wide selection was hot and always well stocked. Walking to anywhere in Ventura was possible and the entrance to the 101 freeway sout was a block away. A pedestrian bridge just south of motel gave beach access. Very pleased and will use again.

Hotel was within walking distance to beaches, close to restaurants, there's a nice park across the street. Easy access on/off freeway. Rooms were clean, and modern. Cheaper than high end places like Crown Plaza down the street. (Stayed at Crown Plaza one year and not very impressed. What stands out the most in my mind was this little gal Nayeli who was working in the breakfast area of the hotel. We ate breakfast there 4 times, breakfast was really good, so much of a selection for continental breakfast. Nayeli was so helpful, pleasant, and such a hard worker and she totally went above the call duty!!! That girl deserves a raise/promotion!!! It really is because of her that I wanted to take the time and write a review because management needs to know about exemplary employees.

Very pleasant place to stay if/when traveling through the area. Very accessible to town as well as beach areas. While we didn't use the pool area on this trip, it looked very clean and ready to jump in.

I recently stayed in this hotel and I thought of passing on the experience. In a few words a great place to stay. Best Western is amazing! First off, It is so clean and secondly, the complimentary breakfast is delicious! (You won't want to miss it!) From the front desk being very helpful and friendly check-in all the way to management being extremely nice. A young man, Anthony Hernandez was incredible. He helped us with finding a nice place to eat and fun place to let loose. We will definitely comeback and tell our friends and family where to stay when they come to visit! Thanks again, Best Western for making our trip so easy. I can't wait to plan another painless trip!

BW Plus but no elevator to 2nd floor and I am in my 70s with heart problems. After checking in was told there would be no maid service on 5-5, which was Cinquo de Mayo. Staff mostly hispanic but I was told, in writing, this was for "staff training". Very hard to believe. I stay at BW everywhere I can, but never here again. Very hard to get heat working This should not be rated a Plus.

I will be back for sure, I like the location, how I was treated, and the breakfast was enough, good quality, fresh, and easy to manage, the manager was friendly and accurate on wherever we want to do and go

You know, the first point of contact with any business staff usually sets the tone for the rest of the experience. And I have to say my experience here was a disappointment. From the get go, the front desk lady name Monique was rude, condescending in tone, and provided selective customer service. My coworker and I were checking in and I couldn't help but notice how overly nice she was to that man, chatting him up and taking her time. But, when Monique "help" me, the service was far from standard. She was short with me, rude and condescending in tone, failed to give me the welcome letter as she did to the guy before and after me (Not an exaggeration b/c I stood there and watched). I was overall dissapointed and encourage Best Western to send in auditor, secret shopper (particular females) and see how "Monique" provides customer service to see what I mean.

We stayed here for one night to get ready for a day trip to Santa Cruz Island. The room was clean and comfortable, and actually had an ocean view. The location was convenient walking distance to downtown Ventura and the pedestrian bridge to the beach, and a short drive to the harbor. A very good value overall. The only real negative was the noise from the freeway and especially the trains going by in the night.

Clean, comfortable, well decorated rooms in a good location. Walk to restaurants, beach, downtown. Good value for your money. Staff friendly and generally accommodating. Complimentary breakfast is available, but I've never partaken- too many excellent breakfast spots in Ventura for me to pass up! Mattresses could use an upgrade, but they're not terrible. I stay here whenever I can get away for a couple of days.

This hotel is excellent value for the money. The location is terrific-you can walk to downtown Ventura or to the beach. You do hear the trains, but we like that. We will definitely stay here again for a little getaway.

I had a conference in Ventura but the host hotel sold out. I decided to stay at Best Western since it was walking distance. This is not a place if your hotel is to be the center point of your stay (spa, gym, bar, Yada yada). If your looking for a safe, clean, modern and comfortable room, Best Western fits that need. I left in the mornings after breakfast from a well stocked breakfast area. In the evenings I ate downtown or walked the pier and it was all in walking distance. The area had homeless people but for those of us that live in cities it's just part of life. They mind their own business across the street at a public park. No one bothers you. Monique at the front desk was helpful and courteous. Every employee from maid service, kitchen and office should be commended. If you don't need a spa or room service you will not go wrong here and everything was within walking distance.

My wife and I decided to get away for a night and Best Western Plus Inn is one of our favorite places to do this at. With their newly remolded rooms, excellent breakfast and great location this hotel is our only choice for this area. As always Alice at the front desk was more than helpful on our arrival. If your going to spend some time here the Ventura harbor and four really nice golf courses just a short drive away. A short walk to the beach or old town Ventura with plenty of restaurants and a multiplex theater. The one negative is that the RR tracks next to rear of the hotel and if you think the noise will bother you ask for a room near the front. I don't think you"ii go wrong by picking this hotel.

We have stayed here a few times..love the location..love the upgrades they have made. The front desk is so unfriendly. On our last day of a 4 day stay I inquired about staying an extra day. They said they had 1 room left at about double the price of what we paid but to check back later the rate could go down. I checked back a few hours later and I was told they had 3 rooms left but again the price was higher and "they would be able to rent them". Seems to me since I had already been there 4 days they may have rented the room to me for what I had paid the 4 days prior. Poor customer service. The rooms are spotless...maids are so friendly...breakfast is pretty typical of all Best Western Hotels. I am a rewards customer and as a rule stay at Best Western Hotels when I travel...this has soured my opinion of them.

We stayed here on our way through. Room was lovely and bed was comfy. There was some noise the night. The breakfast was excellent with a good selection of hot items and had gluten free options - rosa did a great job! This is also in walking distance to some lovely restaurants on Main street - the indian (the taj) i would definately recommend.

I think my title says it all. Oh and loud refrigerator and non working power outlets and first set of keys not working . But ok, a really great staff and nice breakfast and comfortable bed (if you have ear plugs) and bring your own hair dryer

Clean, spacious room. Had tea/coffee in room. Free breakfast that is offered early, so we could make it to the Channel Islands ferry without feeling rushed. Rosa was very sweet. Nothing fancy, but met our needs.

My husband & I stayed here on our way up the coast. We checked in late and it was quick & easy. The room was clean and the bathroom was new. It was nice that there was a microwave & fridge in the room. The complimentary breakfast was pretty good. Better than some that I've had at other hotels. I really liked the Belgian waffles

location of this best western couldn't be better! nearby park, restaurants, stores, thrift shopping! and a beach is in walking distance. ventura is a wonderful little town and this best western is freshly remodeled, warm, and cozy with a friendly, accommodating staff in a safe environment. we've stayed previously and will stay here again. complimentary breakfast is second to none with hot food, clean tables and a wonderful staff!. definitely a pleasure to visit.

My husband and I spent two nights at the Best Western Inn of Ventura as a weekend getaway and to visit an old friend who we haven't seen in years. This hotel lives up to the Best Western standard - clean rooms and friendly service. The location is great, only a 5 minute walk to the Ventura pier and beach. They have a great breakfast with cereals, bagels, waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage and potatoes. The room included a coffee maker, mini-fridge and microwave, along with a small air conditioning unit. The Inn is located near train tracks so you will hear the occasional freight or AMTRAK train, but not really a problem. There are restaurants of all kinds within walking distance. It's s short drive up and down the coast to Oxnard, Carpenteria and Santa Barbara if you want to visit other beach cities. I would recommend this Inn to anyone traveling to or through Ventura.

Nice room upstairs, everything seemed fairly new. The very comfortable king-sized bed was a BIG plus, as was the decent full breakfast in the morning. Quiet area. Air conditioning worked great and was also whisper-quiet. Cyndy at the desk very helpful and pleasant.

We came to Ventura to visit family. We wanted to stay close to where they lived and close to downtown. We normally stay at a higher end chain but did not have points and did not want to pay the price they were asking. The reviews of this hotel said that it was newly remodeled and clean and the price looked right. I would say that we got good value for the money. The rooms were spotless every day. The staff was lovely and the breakfast what you would expect for an American hotel that offers breakfast as part of your stay. The only complaint we had was that the floors had a fine sand on them at the end of the day, which we were told was a function of the way the doors were installed when the hotel was remodeled. While the infrastructure may be old, this remodel makes it a nice place to stay for the money.

Really clean room, coffee, tea, microwave, refrigerator, and great wifi. Breakfast was the best. Plenty of tables and Rosa, the person replenishing the food and making sure all stations remained clean, was lovely. A little noisy from train and traffic, but I imagine that would be anywhere. Only a quarter of a mile from the pier. Walking distance. I'd stay here again.

I cannot say enough good things about our stay at the Best Westin in Ventura. We were very pleased. The staff, the cleanliness of our room, and the breakfast were excellent. I highly recommend this hotel when visiting the Channel Islands.

I would not have picked this hotel judging only the outside. The outside looked like an old motel. Weird metal cages hid the stairwells you had to drag your suitcase up with no elevator. Once inside, the room was nice. The wifi only worked some of the time. We complained all 3 days and they said it was probably our device. Really? All 4 of them? Breakfast was similar to other Best Westerns, simple but ok. Location was great. It was an easy walk downtown and to the beach. There were quite a few homeless people in the park across the street, but we felt safe. The price and location made this a good value.

I stay here for business, mostly. I look for a clean, safe, room , in a good location where I can walk to nicer restaurants and services (gym). All of this must have good service, for a fare price! This location hits every mark. And; it's just been remodeled! It's really very nice!

We really had no expectations of this place, and we were very pleasantly surprised as we arrived. The staff is really nice and polite, the room is quite big and clean and modern. The location is excellent: near the main street and near the beach and pier. The breakfast was much better than average inn breakfast. Really enjoyed this place and since I fell in love with Ventura, I hope to return to this Best Western inn again.

For a night when you arrive late and leave early this hotel just off the Coastal Highway will work fine and save you money. Parking was free in the courtyard of this plain looking hotel. The room was clean and with the standard equipment. (The bed lamps have a touch switch, so just touch the metal next to the light bulb and it goes on/off). The WiFi was very slow. It proved impossible to get a printed local map from the reception--printer issues--but we did get directions and found several restaurants within walking distance. The complimentary breakfast was a bit sparse, and the room crowded when we got there.

Very nice place, walked down for an awesome dinner watching the sunset on the peir, great location. Clean-Clean-Clean room was update, bed was one of the best we had on our trip. Enjoyed our stay with family

We stayed as a family of four for two nights. We arrived about two hours early , and were greeted by a very friendly and helpful lady on reception ,who gave us a room instantly. The room was very clean and spacious ,wifi worked very well,and the beds were very comfy . Breakfast was included and was very good with a wide selection ( the kids loved making waffles)

checked in on my birthday after hiking anacapa island, and found the reception unfriendly and uncaring. my boyfriend was so turned off with the woman's attitude that he was insisting on going to another hotel but we couldn't as i had already prepaid this place on expedia. in the morning when we checked out, she even lied, badly may i add, to a customer about having a bathroom in the front office. the man muttered b***ch as he was leaving as she had given a reason in a rude manner. we should have gotten her name but she was so unprofessional I'm not sure how she even got hired to man the front desk. the hotel itself looks like a refurnished/repainted motel with metal railings and room spaces are not big. however, there is sufficient parking, the place is quiet and as can be expected from a best western plus, the decor is contemporary and the room is quite clean. there was the usual hairdryer, heated water, safe, refrigerator and tv and the bed was very comfortable. minutes away from the beach i think, as other clients were stepping into the office with sand on their feet

We have stayed at this hotel for the past three years when we are on our California road trip and every time it's been delightful! The rooms are updated and clean and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast options are numerous and the location is very close to the beach and shopping. Last but not least I must mention that the front desk staff, especially Monique, are always friendly and willing to help with whatever you need.

This Best Western has spacious, immaculately clean rooms, comfy beds and is relatively quiet at night. The buffet breakfast is nice. There is a very nice pool, too. Service is excellent. The staff go out of their way to accommodate you. The cleaning service is excellent. (Maria was particularly helpful.) This hotel is within easy walking distance of the beach and pier, as well as the historic downtown district.

From the outside this hotel looks a little drab. The rooms have been completely remodeled and are really nice. We had a double queen (that was all that was left). My only criticism is it did not have a comfortable chair. There were 2 desk chairs. It was clean...roomy..and had a good breakfast. Walking distance to the beach and downtown. Lots of good restaurants, coffee and shopping. Did not hear any traffic noise or the trains that is close by. I highly recommend this hotel.

Needed a place to stay for one night while visiting. This hotel has recently been refurbished, new bathrooms, porcelain floor riles, new Samsung TV. good value, breakfast offered the usual choices, waffles, yogurt, hot/cold cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage links & patties. variety of bread items, fresh fruit & of course coffee, Rooms had refridgerator, microwave, & coffee maker.

This is the second time that we have stayed at this property, which has undergone some renovations since we last visited - the rooms are brighter and better equipped, and generally more pleasant all around. All areas seem to have been targeted in the refurbishment, including the lobby and breakfast area - again, its a welcome improvement. Not a bad location - a short walk to Ventura Pier and there are other places to eat and drink nearby.

The lady on reception needs a bit of customer service training as does the lady looking after breakfast. We were not sure we were in the correct place and asked the receptionist. Without looking up she said "That's what it says on my badge". Another customer asked her if there was a bar and she didn't even respond. We went to breakfast half an hour before the end of service but everything was already being cleared away. We asked the lady if there was any more hot food and she just said "I have sausages" and walked away. She didn't ask if we would like some or even crack a smile! She looked like she was completely bored and would have preferred to be somewhere else.

Spent 6 days in Ventura. Checked out a lot of hotel options. This BW seemed like the best option because so many have some negative comments. We got a second floor King room near the front. The room was very spacious, and had a nice divider between the bed area and the bath with a nice lighted dressing table, coffee maker, hair dryer, microwave and mini-fridge. We were very comfortable in this room, and it was very quiet with a comfortable bed. Note there is no elevator. The Wifi worked well. They have a free breakfast every morning, that is pretty much the same every day. Cereals, fresh waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, refries, breads, juices, milk, coffee, yogurt. You can live on it but no variety so we went out some mornings to get an omelet or something different. We had some issues with the sink and bath draining, they fixed the sink but not quite on the bath. The showers have restricters and put out a good spray, but there is not a lot of water to rinse out all the nooks and crannies. My one real complaint is that they need to do a better job of vacuuming the carpet. I would pad around the room in the AM for maybe a few hours, and then when I stepped into the tub would leave dirty foot prints. Room smelled fine, just didn't need a sign of a dirty carpet. The staff was Okay, not terribly friendly, but they were always available. this hotel is walkable to the shopping downtown (2 blocks) and the beach (0.4 mi). There are other options in the area, but based on our local intel this one was the least likely to disappoint us, and that was pretty much the outcome. Like I said, not a lot of choices in Ventura that are near the action. Free parking, quiet, and a good price.

Excellent experience. Friendly young woman checked us in and answered our questions well. The room was attractive, the bed was comfortable and the amenities were fine. Breakfast was good for the "free" type you get in hotels.

The Best Western Plus does not look very inviting from the outside, but the room was recently remodeled and clean. We did not hear any noise in the room even-though we would close to route 101. And the best part for us it that it is in walking distance to some of the interesting sites in Ventura. We enjoyed walking downtown and some of the restaurants close by. We found the complimentary breakfast on par with other motels in the price range.

A friend and I went up to Ventura for the Scottish Highland games, and we stayed at the Best Western Plus Inn of Ventura. The room was very nice and looked like it had been remodeled recently. It was very clean and the beds were pretty comfortable. The cable worked well and there were tons of stations not just a few like in most rooms. The free breakfast had lots of choices and was good. It was close enough to the beach that we were able to walk over and out on the pier. I would stay here again.

Sadly, an adequate Best Western Plus. Fairly run down, gives off a "low rent" vibe both inside and out. What little interaction we had with the staff was fine, breakfast was fairly limited, and, having stayed in other "plus" hotels throughout the country, this stay was disappointing. No carpets, smallish room, though clean, lacked any sense of this place being a "plus" hotel. Suitable for a one night stay at best. Hard to believe it was rated #2 in Ventura, though I haven't read the reviews on the other places.

I arrived in the evening to the hotel and very much surprised by functionality and comfort of the room. Though the hotel is not far from highway , we had a great silence in the room. Free breakfast was also enjoyable.

This was my first stay at this facility and I was very pleased. It was very easy on and off the freeway, and quiet. The room was updated and very clean even though the facility itself looked a bit dated. The breakfast was hot and satisfying and the staff very nice and helpful.

I stayed here as part of a three night road trip with my two young children from Northern Oregon to Southern California. I'm a rewards member so the points are worth collecting, but this hotel was not worth the stay. I agree that they are understaffed. While the woman working the front desk was definitely nice, she seemed stressed. I ended up having to ask for her help a couple times and while she was as helpful as the situation allowed her to be, she couldn't actually fix my problems. Our air conditioning did not work. This has been a one hundred degree day in Ventura. Luckily I travel with a small fan because very few hotels have a fan only option on their thermostat. Our room would have been unbearable without it, and even with my fan it was still very hot. She offered us a different room but it had two double beds, because I'm alone with my small kids they sleep with me and this just would not work. I considered trying, but it was already very late and they had no luggage carts so I had no easy way to get my stuff to the room on the other side of the parking lot. So, the woman offered to have the next employee who was coming in to look at it, because he was a man and might know how to fix it. I don't think his being a man automatically qualifies him, but she did understand that I wasn't comfortable with the situation (again, woman alone... blah blah). So we slept in a room with no air conditioning, and kept the window closed because of road noise. Also, it's a good thing I'm not conniving or mischievous, and that my kids are still extremely short: the electrical panel for the entire building my room was in, as well as all the pool equipment was hanging open on the wall. I know how to use these, and was very uncomfortable with it being open. I didn't want there to be an accident or have myself be blamed for any weirdness. However when I asked the woman to lock it, she merely closed it. It popped right back open... I just thought this was very careless of the hotel in general. Lastly, I have never worn shoes in a hotel room. Ever. Here though, I did not take them off. I lined the bathroom floor with towels (which killed me because of the waste for washing- drought) because I was constantly washing my kids feet. I'm not one to exaggerate but I would absolutely call it gross. They wanted to color in their books on the floor, but I couldn't allow it. Their feet were literally black. I didn't have the breakfast, but it's nice that they offer it. All in all, I would not stay here again and I would not recommend it. I'm sorry to say that too because it's just so easy to stick with Best Western usually. This place just is not worth it.

I was blown away at the cleanliness of the rooms. They are completely remodeled. We stayed in room 203. Quiet and everything you need. Mini- Refrigerator, Microwave and free REAL breakfast in AM. The feeling when you drive up is a older hotel. But that is the outside which is in remodel. The rooms are great for a great price. Someone below said they spent $235 for a room and it was not clean ? WRONG HOTEL ! The whole place has new interior remodeled rooms. And NO ROOM cost 235 a night ! I found that weird ? The location is in old Ventura but in walking distance to the beach. Great fish tacos joint restaurant just a 1 min walk. Popular with locals. If your on a budget and want a clean nice room with a courteous front office. This is great place for a weekend stay. Get a double room if you have a couple kids etc. And save. Don't be fooled by old exterior. Internally the rooms are nice. My wife and I will return for sure !

We booked on booking.com and were pleased when we got a great clean room that is newly renovated and a good breakfast in the morning. We both felt good staying there. The beds were comfy, good linen and we left feeling satisfied. There is a great taco place 2 min walk from here called Spencer McKenzies which is a must try. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this place.

Got here late after a gruelling 12 hour drive from San Francisco. Checked in to room. Asked where we could get something to eat. Misdirected us so we tried to order pizza from the food and phone didn't work. Had to get that sorted it. Kept shoes on as I was concerned about the cleanliness. We have stayed in a lot of places and some not so good, but the not so good didn't cost us $235.00 for the night. Would not recommend or stay here again.

Stayed one night only whilst travelling south from Monterey. Helpful evening staff (Alice) and problem with a/c resolved promptly and in person. Couldn't ask for better. Nice breakfast with a good choice of hot and cold. Easily located off the freeway.

The hotel looks older but has been redone. Room was fine. Location was good but at 2:30 in the afternoon they didn't have any rooms ready for check-in. The front desk clerk was making snarky comments about having to do 20 things at once and when she called a guy to come and help she was snarky about him too. She also answered the phone and then told the other person that the person had called 5 times already about early check-in. Perhaps they should hire some more maids so they have rooms ready and keep comments to themselves.

Very attractive and comfortable. Staff were very good and helpful. The rooms have been updated really, really well, and the lobby area is also up to snuff. Overall, a very comfortable experience, especially for casual and international travelers.

Stay here overnight after my wife's twin sisters 60th Birthday party at The Tavern We checked the rates on tripadvisor for comparable hotels. We have stayed here before and were always pleased and it was close to the venue and other attractions, shops, pier,& beach.

Wanted to stay somewhere close to the ocean in Ventura and settled on the Best Western because of it's close proximity to the Ventura pier. There is a Vagabond Inn and a Country Inn and Suites close by and from the outside they all look about the same. We settled on the Best Western because we perceived the rooms to be much better and we were not disappointed -- very clean and well furnished and comfortable. No views here thought and the outside of the hotel doesn't look all that enticing. We were able to easily walk to the pier twice and we also walked to a very nice downtown area with lots of shops and restaurants. There is an excellent place for fish tacos right next door too. Breakfast was a sort of standard Best Western breakfast - eggs, sausage, bagels, coffee, etc. Very pleased. Oh, there was quite a lot of nice from the nearby freeway and street but when we closed the door to the room we couldn't hear any of it.

Just love how the owners have taken an old 50's motor inn and turned it into a very comfortable chic contemporary and comfortable hotel. Love how quiet the rooms were, even with 101 right behind it. Wonderful night's sleep. Will be using it again. Plenty of good restaurants walking distance. Close to the beach.

The people are friendly and the service is great but the beds were awful. We have stayed here every year for the surf contest for 5 years and the beds were fine. This year they remodeled and changed the mattresses, they are hard and noisy. If you need a good nights sleep you will need to go elsewhere.

We stayed here because we were attending a wedding in Carpinteria. We had reservations, which was a good thing due to a bike rally along the coast that weekend. I called the day before to ensure we would be able to check in early so we could change for the wedding. When I called, the gal I talked to couldn't find our reservation, which caused a mild panic attack. Fortunately, I had the confirmation saved in my BW account and she found it. She then told me that she wasn't sure if our rooms would be ready at 3 p.m. (which was my request) since check-in time wasn't till 4 p.m. I asked for a manager and was transferred to Carlos, who assured me that at least one room would be available to us. Upon arrival, there was one room ready and we went to unload and get ready. while we were unloading, an employee (didn't catch his name) came to check if our other room was ready, which is was! WHOO HOO! We were able to get ready and get to the wedding on time. The rooms were very comfy! My daughter especially enjoyed the area where she could sit & get her make-up on & curl her hair. The internet worked very well. The hot breakfast had many varieties of food. We will definitely stay here again!!!

We were heading to the channel island early in the morning so needed somewhere to stay the night in Ventura, the place had a classic motel look to it and the room was very comfortable and clean. Break fast a little disappointing. Reception well polite and easy to deal with.

The room was just what we needed after a 16 hour drive from Crescent City due many road constructions and traffic delays but their was this wide awake sweet desk girl named Maleeya who We will NEVER forget that made us feel like family!! Thank you Maleeya !!! The room was clean, bed and shower fabulous, and the breakfast decent !! Parking is a little small especially since we were in a truck.

Dated property but they have improved some areas. Mainly the rooms have wood/laminate floors which is a HUGE plus over icky carpet. The A/C units are in an awkward spot making the area near the bathroom freezing while taking a long time for the rest of the room to cool down. Location is good for walking everywhere and we always enjoy eating at the Vagabond restaurant next door.

Our recent stay at the Great Western Plus Inn of Ventura began uneventful , but when we entered the room I was so pleased with the decor, cleanliness and layout of the room. When morning arrived, I wanted to sleep in, even knowing that I would miss the hot breakfast, but I work so hard throughout the week I needed the extra sleep. I was so very happy to see that the staff left out the bagels, bread, coffee, juice and cereal. Yay!!! We were ready to venture out when my sister-in-law commented that she didn't believe her car would make the drive to our next destination, Best Western Plus in Pismo...the front clerk, Cindy suggested we leaver her car at the hotel until we returned Sunday night! Staff was helpful and courteous. Room was clean and functional; A/C was quiet and effective. Unlike other properties, this was the best available since enjoyed being closer to downtown but within easy walking distance of the beach.

We love this hotel because its proximity to all the fun downtown. The rooms are always clean and well taken care of. They were having some renovations done while we were there, but that did not deter from our trip at all.

Nice hotel. Refurbished room. Very clean. Nice pool. Easy walk to restaurants and beach. Good free breakfast. Easy parking. Free wifi. Staff are helpful. This hotel will be wonderful when it is finished. Vending machine well stocked. Good ice machine.

I've stayed twice, both visits in July. Channeling Peter Jennings, I now report that this Best Western has: - A fantastic location. Walk just a couple of blocks to the beach, surfing, and the Ventura wharf, as well as to the heart of a cute downtown (cafes, a brewery, the library, folksy boutiques, etc. There's also a Starbucks in case you're a franchise fanatic, unlike me.) Walk only 1 block to the city park, or to a Mexican restaurant that serves fantastic fish tacos and burritos—Spencer Makenzie's. Even Enterprise rent-a-car is just a few blocks away. Also, if you want to catch your own dinner, I saw a fisherman on the wharf reel in a 2+foot halibut. - Excellent customer service. Everyone—housekeepers, maintenance staff, desk clerks, breakfast staff, etc.—makes a personal effort and seems to take pride in giving guests a great customer experience. - A great value. Compared to the competition, this motel is well-priced for its nicely appointed rooms and facility, cleanliness, and amenities (pool, free WiFi, ice machine that works well, sunsets off the balconies, breakfast room, etc.), plus its fantastic location and service. The rooms's walls are well insulated so you hear little from outside or neighboring rooms. Like other hotels, rates jump for the high season and special events. Best to book in advance; they often sell out. The only downside for this motel is that trains run several time a day near the south end of the building. You can easily mitigate the train noise by getting a room at the north end, masking the sound by running the air conditioner, and/or bringing good sleep earplugs. Note that there's a no-smoking (anywhere on the property) policy here. Personally I consider that a big plus. In any event, you can get plenty of fresh air, for free, at the nearby beach.

Second stay at this property. This time was upgraded to a King Bed room with ocean view. Very nice amenities (ductless a/c and recent renovations) however this room was right next to the railroad tracks and several passing trains shook the bed. I did not have a problem, but something to consider if your'e a light sleeper. Short walk to several restaurants including a old school coffee shop next door.

Discovered the lovely Ventura shoreline while waiting for our room to be ready. Close enough to walk to from the hotel. Excellent eating places on the beach. Looks like there are extensive renovations going on, being upgraded, hence the plain appearance on the outside. Location was close enough to walk to the downtown area.

First of all the welcome that the clerk gave me as I walked in was very nice and friendly. Our room was very clean. and what my girls liked most was that the blow dryer was in the dressing area and not in the toilet. And they really liked that there was plenty of "mirror" for them to put on their makeup and check out their outfits.....girls will be girls....and they loved the fact that we were just a few blocks from main street for shopping and eating....

We were quite satisfied with our ordinary but clean and comfortable room. The queen size bed was quite adequate.Our only complaint was that the WIFI kept going on and off though the computers in the hotel lobby were always available.

Great location. Clean well appointed rooms with fridge and microwave. It was near the train tracks and frreeway but noise did not disturb sleep. Walk to downtown for dinner. We ate at Lure Fish House which was excellent. Great breakfast. Super value.

We needed a decent affordable hotel for 1 night not far from Santa Barbara. This hotel was perfect for the location, price and quality. Even though from outside it may look like a motel I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and spacious the room was inside. The staff was very helpful and courteous.

This hotel is one best place to stay when visiting Ventura. The room is quiet and clean. The A/C system is the new ductless type which is quiet. The breakfast is good. It locates a short distance to the beach and the pier.

Hot tub/spa out of service. Pool needed service. Un-carpeted rooms. Decent location in Ventura. Decent food within walking distance. Seems a bit dated to most of my Best Western hotel stays. Staff was friendly. Would probably look for different hotel if I was to visit that area again.

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting family over the 4th of July weekend. The hotel was conveniently located to the beach, freeway and main street with plenty of bars and restaurants. The rooms appear to have been recently remodeled and were clean. Breakfast was decent for being free. It was the typical Best Western breakfast of cereal, bagels, waffles etc. and I appreciated that they still had food even when it was close to breakfast ending. The negatives: The pillows and bed were not very comfortable, but at this price point I expected that. Also, it was noisy. We were located by the stairwell and could hear people coming and going throughout the night and early morning. The hotel options in Ventura are somewhat limited and we walked by some of the other hotels and I thought the Best Western was the better of the options (at least near the beach). I would stay here again if I wanted to stay in Ventura.

I really wanted to like this hotel. Unfortunately, wishing doesn't always make it so. The positives: *Newly Remodeled *Full breakfast *two blocks from the beach The negatives: *I found the staff to be unfriendly and less than knowledgeable about the beaches *The room was TINY *the mattress was over-firm *the pillows were horrible - I barely slept and woke up with my head and body aching *No elevator *No king bed rooms on the 1st floor *hot tub unavailable for the foreseeable future *when I checked in the room reeked of bleach - I had to air it out I would recommend this hotel if your only interested in location. If you plan to spend any time in the room I'd look for something a little bigger. And bring your own pillows!

Stayed here for one night with my boyfriend on our way to San Diego from SF. It was old, and nothing special but fine for a night I guess. Lady working front desk was really nice. However bed was really uncomfortable. We stopped by the breakfast in the morning. It didn't look very good so we decided to skip. All hotels are overpriced on the coast in the summer so we didn't really have an option. Probably wouldn't stay here again though.

The staff at this hotel was kind and helpful. There was easy access from the freeway. Proximity to any number of restaurants for dinner, as well as to the promenade which was lovely, was a real bonus! Although there was construction happening in the parking lot, we were given a newly renovated room as a kind gesture kind of to compensate for that. That's good business in my books! The beds and pillows were so comfortable. The room was clean and fresh. The only thing that was a little annoying was the work going on in the parking lot. It made parking a little more difficult and it was a little noisey when we arrived....but that subsided later in the evening. I'm sure the construction won't last long. I'd certainly not let it deter me from staying here again.

The hotel is going through renovations and will be much better when it's done but for now, I would skip this place. We paid $135 a night for basically a motel. We booked two rooms. One of the rooms had just been renovated and smelled terrible. We mentioned it several times and their answer was they knew about it. Housekeeping was not able to address the smell and only after complaining at checkout did they discount us $20 for the room. The pool faces the parking lot and is unappealing. Check in is at 4pm rather than the standard 3pm Pluses: Good location near Main Street and the waterfront Excellent air conditioning

Really enjoyed our stay here. Was welcomed by Alice at the front desk. She and the other front desk attendant were friendly and extremely nice. Rooms were remodeled and really comfortable. Boyfriend and I both enjoyed breakfast. Make sure you tip the breakfast attendant! Many guest left their tables a mess, probably thinking it was full service breakfast, but forgot to tip her. The train passed by once the entire stay, but it was actually kinda cool hearing a local train pass through. The hotel is located near everything and the parking is safe and overnight staff made sure our vehicles were ok. We usually stay at Starwood Hotels, but they were overbooked. I would say this property is very very accommodating. Housekeeper also remembered our names and she always greeted us when we returned to the hotel. Overall, we would definitely stay here again and thank the staff for a nice trip.

This is a great hotel in a safe location with easy freeway access. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly. The rooms are slightly smaller than most, but it's a perfect hotel for my business trips to Ventura County and the price is always great!

We stayed overnight prior to going on a kayaking trip at the Channel Islands. Very clean, roomy, and comfortable room. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Was in a great location and close to the beach. Breakfast doesn't start to seven but the staff made arrangements so we could eat earlier since we had to leave by six for our trip.

This Best Western was a clean hotel with comfortable beds. The helpful staff made check in easy and suggested great places to eat. The Continental Breakfast had good options and the dining room was also clean. This hotel was a good price for the area and quality. Easy to walk to restaurants and bars but was still quiet.

Never saw desk staff with a smile. I wonder if my patronage was appreciated? Desk people usually acknowledge a person who enters and approaches, even if they are busy on the phone. Perhaps a mystery shopping experience can reveal & then result in retraining staff.

I really enjoyed my stay there and will be booking with them again. I felt very safe in their property as well as leaving my car in the parking lot. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, and the breakfast was really good.

Hotel in downtown area. Easy access to everything I wanted. Ovearall clean and quiet and safe stay. Breakfast was not remarkable but OK.The room had wooden floor that I liked. The bed was very comfortable. Parking just outside the room. Good value for the money. Will recommend!

I chose this spot for the ability to walk around down town without having to drive – it was perfect! It is perfectly located between the beach and downtown. We could see the beach from our window, which was a nice bonus! We could walk everywhere we needed to walk. A tiny bit pricey, but it was a Holiday weekend and also happened to be the weekend of the marathon. Breakfast was nice, but they are a pretty slow to refill – in fact, it never did get refilled a couple of times were there. Breakfast was eggs, sausage or bacon, make your own waffles, cereal, yogurt, small selection of pastries – very decent. The room was quite nice, no complaints about the room at all. We were not able to properly access the wi-fi.

I have stayed at this Best Western on numerous occasions and from the outside it looks like "vintage 60's." The rooms have been completely redone and it is as nice as any other hotel at this price level. I would recommend this hotel and only one pointer is to request the room away from the railroad tracks.

I am very disappointed with this property. I have always trusted the Best Western Brand. However, after this experience I must say that the brand has lost its gloss. Now more of a Motel. I went to enjoy myself and I could not get out of this place fast enough. It was not as advertised and there were dirty wash clothes hanging in the bath enclosure. I took my kids and left without even taking a shower. The door lock was broken and required the staff to open, the advertised Jacuzzi did not work. I had my grandsons for the weekend and it was not at all the hotel experience we have enjoyed at Best Western in the past. This property in Ventura is a joke. There was nothing nice about it.

I love the white bedding (so I know it's clean!) and the wood floors (I hate walking barefoot on hotel carpet.) The water pressure in the shower was great and the bed was comfy. This hotel was under construction during my stay, but there was no noise in the early morning or late evening. The location of the hotel is perfect. Within a couple blocks of downtown and 1 block from an easy-on, easy-off freeway access.

Rooms are spacious and clean. Swimming pool is of a decent size. Breakfast area is also nice and the variety of items offered is good. Area outside and some rooms were undergoing some renovations, which denotes care with their customers. Good location near restaurants and the beach.

This property in overpriced. under construction, with few parking spots. Vehicles were double parked and illegally parked, thus is was treacherous to navigate the parking lot.The "free" breakfast was surrounded in filth. The bed was horribly hard, and the train noise was unbearable.

The rooms are very clean. The bathrooms are new and clean.. the staff there are helpful and polite, very professional. The only thing i have to say negative is that i got wireless, but the internet was a pain in the neck to get and keep on. I have stayed there many times and will continue to do so.

Clean, quiet room. Didn't hear any trains others have mentioned. Close to Ventura Boardwalk and 101 access. We didn't try the complimentary breakfast. Bathroom was nice and clean. Bed was comfortable.

I was waiting in the lobby for my partner to arrive; over a half and hour. She went out of her way to make sure that I was OK; and if I needed anything from the Motel. Several couples came in and ask questions about where to eat and what to see in the area. Leticia was very helpful to those people and you could tell it in their Thanks to her for her help. Leticia is my idea of a perfect person to have on the Front Desk greeting your guest. Friendly, Courteous, Helpful, Pleasant, just an overall Great Person...You should be very grateful to have her as an employee..........Could you past this unto her for me..... I will certainly stay at your Motel in the future stays in the area.

this is a great little hotel. you can walk to dinner, shopping and beach! rooms are newly remodeled and very nice. staff was very helpful with directions and dinner suggestions. the breakfast they set up is fabulous! love the refried beans! will stay here again for sure!

Got what I payed for. Usually book best western because I like what I get. The room was nice and clean but smelled a bit weird. Also there were workers outside making a bit too much noises. Overall I think it was OK.

This hotel is next to the train and was under a remodel was underway during our stay. The room was average, the staff was fine, the breakfast was average. The bed and location to downtown was excellent.

Checked into BW while it was under renovation. My room was recently remodeled and very nicely done. Brand new and very clean. They put a lot of effort into the rooms and it shows. My room however had a fatal flaw. The bathroom sink had so much pressure it would spray you. The shower pressure was dismal. Would definitely preferred lower sink pressure and more shower pressure. Other than that a great stay. Very convenient location for local shopping and dining.

I stayed here on the way back from a business trip to Santa Barbara, Planned to stay 1 night but ended up staying 2 nights. Nice quite hotel, comfortable bed, nice staff, if your in the area this is the place to stay at and have a good nights sleep. Enjoy.

I stayed there with my daughter one night, the hotel is being renovated and the rooms are beautifully done! The front desk staff, Monique & Luciana were especially nice & friendly! It's a great little off the highway hotel! The lobby, rooms and the grounds were very clean!

Everything about this place was just fine for a one night stay in Ventura.. Room had just been updated, everything in the room was new and very clean..The bed was so comfy and no I didn't hear that train as loud as some other reviews had mention. I can't say enough nice things about the Leticia the desk clerk there, she was just so nice and so helpful.. So glad we choose this place.. We will back for sure..
