The Best Western Arena Hotell is located in Vanersborg on the southern shore of Varnen, Sweden's largest lake. The Best Western Arena Hotell is located close to the Arena Vanersborg and offers free parking. Enjoy your stay.
Good hotel for the price compared to the other alternatives in the area. Located in an OK area with parking, good breakfast and friendly staff. Not flashy or fancy. The furniture is from 70s & 80s and has carpets at least in some rooms.
I was greeted with a smile and caring attitude. I always like smiling people. :) I tried the Bistro in the evening and despite the fact that they don´t have a chef the food was tasty. The room was abit uniq, but I´t had everything I needed for my stay. Internet worked great and my bed was comfy. In the morning when I came down stairs to the breakfast it was more then I expected. :) I´m very satisfied with this hotel and I will stay here again if I have the oppertunity.
This hotel is not very large but it offers what you need. Nice rooms (not large, though), good breakfast, free parking outside the front door, and a possibility to enjoy a drink with friends in the combined bistro/bar/reception. If you are a returning guest, they seem to track you by your phone no (or name?) in order to give you a friendly welcome, even if you never stated that very long membership number of Best Western when making your reservation.
Perfect location and excellent Bistro. The food is great. Nice we didn´ty have to go outside during the rain and thunder. Good size bar. The staff is friendly and we feelt at home. We would love to return and stay here again.
Clean room, butikken quite small. It was impossible to shower without getting water all over the bathroom. Okay breakfast. Nice and quiet area. Not too far to walk to the city center for dinner. Nice staff.
I have stayed at this hotel twice when my son has competed in swim meets in nearby Uddevalla. Vanersborg is a really nice little town right on the very large lake Vanern. The hotel is basic. Nothing fancy. OK breakfast. OK rooms. Nice staff. Don't expect anything special here but the price is really good when you book a while in advance. So, I recommend this hotel for all you budget travelers out there.
Nice hotel and Surround, but some rooms have no daylight and windows.Breakfast good, friendly reception. good restaurants near by. Average and good for night stay. Nice and cosy lobby. Not the best of "Best Western" !!
Basic hotel which was clean with friendly staff, rooms large and surroundings quiet. Convenient to walk into Vanesborg, only 5-10 minutes on foot. Breakfast was pleasant with a good choice of bread, cereals, yoghurt etc.
We searched the Internet for hotels in Vänersborg, and found the cheapest hotel to be Best Western Arena Hotell. Also, we had been recommended this hotel from friends. When we arrived, we had not ordered a room online, but asked in the reseption. There we was told that a room was close to 1000 Swedish kroner. I told the rude female bejind the desk that the rooms could be bought for kr. 691 online, and was told that this was a lie! I then told her that I did not lie, and she then said she couldn't answer for what "someone" wrote on the web. They had never, ever sold a room for that price. I then said I could book the room online, and then through the Best Western system - since it was Best Western itself that did have the best price (also it was 6 or 7 other companies like hotels.com who offered prices below 700 Swedish kroner). I was then told that I could do so, but would not get a rom to that price no matter what - simply because they sold the rooms for close to 1000 kroner! One thing is certain. People like this something in the reception does not make people want to come back. We simply left the place, and bought a room a few hundred meters away by a competing hotel, where we also will buy a room the next time we go there!
The hotel appears quiet old. When you walk in the front door, it is a bit confusing as it looks like you might be walking into a restaurant. The reception area is shared with the breakfast room and bistro. Our room, 208, was clean. The room is small, but the wi fi worked well (a big plus with us). We had a most pleasant light dinner in the lobby. They have a bistro menu from 1800-2000. There is a special of the day and several other entrees. We had paninis (chicken/bacon and ham/cheese) which were served with a salad. Wine, beer, and other drinks are available. There is patio seating as well as pleasant seating by the windows. The breakfast was good. Serving starts at 0630 on weekdays. I was especially impressed by the boiled eggs which were artfully done (topped with shrimp and a tiny sprig of dill). The hotel was a bit out of our route, but was an excellent choice as we were still a bit fatigued from our trip and needed a quiet place to decompress.
A good hotel, value for money, with a good breakfast. The rooms were quite average and the beds comfortable. The wifi worked well. The breakfast was good and tasty with a lot of variety. Unfortunately the gym was being refurbished whilst we were there so was not able to use it. Also, the ventilation in the rooms is not so good, especially when you take a shower the windows needs to be opened to take out the moisture.
This is a basic hotel, rooms ok, breakfast basic but ok, restaurant very basic, better go to the city, but friendly staff, lots of free parking, free wifi, so a reasonnable hotel for this area. No scandic but good
Stayed two nights here on my own. Room was clean and functional, it is like a ten minute walk to central Vanersborg and the trainstation, bed was comfy, free parking and good wifi internet connection. Nice staff.
This is a good hotel, have free parking, training room, good breakfast and free wifi. So, what makes them not excellent is that we missed aircon very much. Hope that is something they think to install, that would bring them a level up. We had bikes with us and the bike routes around here is excellent(you can also borrow bikes)
I thought about giving this property a four rating but when I weighed everything, I settled on a rating of average. The front desk clerk at check in was very nice and helped us with little things like large glasses and a nice tub of ice cubes. The room was the only one of six hotels I stayed at recently in Northern Europe that did not have a refrigerator or a mini-bar with extra space. There was also no coffee service in the room although there was free coffee near the lobby. The beds were the typical narrow twins you find in Europe - but the set up of the room allowed for moving the beds. We moved the beds together immediately so we'd have room to walk around (the room was very small as seems typical for Scandinavia). There were bed tables that were designed to facilitate moving the beds as they flip up from the wall and there are three of them: one in the middle and one on each side. The ones on the side can only be flipped down when the one in the middle is not in use. This was a unique solution to the space problem. There were also lights above the bed for reading at night. There was a small TV mounted to the wall. The room lacked a safe The room was quite warm and we could only tilt the window open about 3" (100 cm) so this severely limited the amount of air coming into the room. We also had to pull the curtains to block the light and, since the curtains were heavy, this further limited the air flow. The bathroom was miniature, maybe 1.5 miters across. One half of the bathroom had a toilet and small sink (it did have a decent apron for toiletries). The other half was a small shower that did not have a shower curtain. Breakfast was fine and, had this been my first hotel, I'd have said it was very good; however, breakfast was more extensive, with better choices, in most of the other hotels I stayed at. They did have a nice little deviled egg (sort of) with hollandaise sauce and shrimp on top. I say "a" because there was only one on the tray. Breakfast was ending 30 minutes after we arrived so what was there was what we got. There were scrambled eggs and bacon and some nice hard rolls. There were only two types of juice - apple and orange but the orange was tasty. There were several muesli and yogurt choices and they did have one of my new favorites - vanilla. The room cost $200 at the current exchange rate so it was very expensive for what you got. The room was clean so no complaints there. I'd stay here again - in winter maybe but I'd stay using Best Western points.
This hotel, although located away from the centre, is so easily accesible and beautiful that travelling by the metro is just a sort trip. The Arena next to the hotel is very impressive and the surrounding area of the hotel gives tranquillity and relaxation. The staff is very helpful and the breakfast has great variety.
