"Careless and unenthusiastic, run down hotel"

1
Angek42, Valemount, Canada 07/02/2023

Zero welcome from staff, unenthusiastic front desk man, all seem to be male employees in hotel and white spot restaurant, which gives it a brash and careless feel. The room are basic and so run down. The saving grace is the white spot food that is convenient, and the 1 and only female member staff who gave a warm smile and was actually helpful. The card key I was given didn't work and I had to go all the way down to front desk from the 4th floor (with a suitcase!) for the careless front desk dude to do it again. Just a sub par and sun standard hotel, I do not recommend.

"Quick shuttle service and great staff - beware of the elevator"

3
prehara, Kamloops, Canada 07/02/2023

Late flight arrival, but shuttle service was great. Hotel is older but our room had some upgrades, clean and comfy night's rest. We were trapped in the elevator for 25 minutes - not great. The restaurant for early breakfast was quick and delicious with super service. The staff were very kind and we were credited a portion of the room charge due to the elevator incident. I would stay again.

"Some good aspects and some not so good"

3
Hungrymarguerite, British Columbia, Canada 06/02/2023

The beds were great for sleeping but we were annoyed that there was no hot water (just ice cold water) when we arrived at 3 Pm and left at 4:30 AM next day. So no shower, before flying out for a cruise, leaving from San Francisco to Hawaii, return. We did enjoy that there was White Spot on the facility, and we enjoyed our favorite hamburger.

"Not ok."

1
ingridvergalen, Salt Spring Island, Canada 01/02/2023

We stayed here the night before our early flight to our honeymoon. Awful experience. I'm not one to complain, either. We got stuck in the elevator TWICE in one night, and no one gave a crap. Unfortunately for us we have already booked our overnight on the way back there. Lesson learned! Will not stay there again. Nor will any of our family or friends.

"It is an OK hotel"

3
jayandona, Edmonton, Canada 30/01/2023

Older hotel that needs a lot of upgrade.. close to everything though. I don't think we'll come back here. Parking is $10 per night. Close to all amenities though . Staff were great but room is not very relaxing.

"Rodent problem!"

1
keelyw879, Lillooet, Canada 26/01/2023

Do not stay here! Unfortunately I used my points I accumulated over the years and I asked for them back. They did not give them back and only offered 1 night stay at 50% off at the same location. Gross, no thanks! I advise you stay somewhere else!

"DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME"

1
User 25/01/2023

Couldn't get a shuttle to airport because he was servicing coffee machine. Had to get a taxi. Very unhelpful front staff, not knowledgeable or helpful. Don't waste ur time here, run down terrible hotel. Gives best western a bad name

"Ron W Eby"

User 11/01/2023

Great hotel. Nice and close to the airport and very easy to get to on their shuttle service or by taxi. Manager treated me with uttermost respect and checkin is very easy. Very well kept building, and rooms are very roomy and clean. Comfortable beds after a long night getting here amongst many delays at the airports. Will definitely stay there again if I'am back in Vancouver.

"Unacceptable"

1
User 09/01/2023

Terrible experience. Staff and management need training. Poor service, poor communication. Lack of interest in our situation and customer experience. I would not recommend this property to anyone. I will think twice about ever staying at a Best Western property again.

"Broken Window"

1
Ace009Marquez, Coquitlam, Canada 04/01/2023

due to broken window, you can hear everything outside. Streets of vancouver is not peaceful, so thats why iys a nightmare not to have the window shut at night. Filthy carpet too. My 1 yr old found bits of chips from the old occupant of the room. Not cool at all.

"Horrible"

1
User 02/01/2023

Please had a women's hair stuck to the tile. Lamp in bedroom, looked like a disco party, it was flashing. Really dirty area. No bell man service, I had to carry 4 bags on my own. Over price, for the hotel itself. Front desk unable to answer a simple question about restaurant. Such as what time it opens. He told me to go to the door to check hours, for the amount I've got charge I expected for him to take a few steps and check for mr ` rude people. Please pay another 15~20 dollars and stay somewhere else.

"Such helpful staff"

5
User 31/12/2022

Our experience was wonderful. Shivam the Front Desk manager help us out of a jam. I would recommend Best Western for business travel especially when things don't go as planned. This hotel is conveniently located and will be my first choice next time I am in Richmond.

"Front Desk Staff Brutal !"

2
User 29/12/2022

Went to the Shuttle pick up at YVR in the chilly evening. Shuttle stopped briefly then drove away without pulling up to the curb. I called the hotel and ask them to send the driver back as it was cold out. Never happened so I called back 3 times and talked to a man and a woman who assured me he was on his way. He never showed up until the next scheduled pick up time. I asked him what happened and he didnt know what I was talking about. I asked why he didnt come back after my calls to the hotel and he told me that they never called him to return to pick me up. When I arrived at the hotel there were 3 people working at the front desk, 1 man and 1 woman left the room when I entered. The guy I dealt with offered no apology and was actually very short with me and had a huge chip on his shoulder. The room smelled like my hockey equipment bag, the phone had no directory list, the water pressure very poor, no smoke detector, and no coffee maker. The bed was pretty comfy and the airport shuttle left on time in the morning. To sum it up, the room was definitely not worth the price and definitely not 3.5 stars.

"Extremely Satisfied"

5
fleaguen3, Crofton, Canada 27/12/2022

We were extremely satisfied with our stay at the Best Western. The reception staff was very friendly and answered any questions we had. Our room was very clean and the hotel was very quiet. We felt like we were at home. Thank you again

"Helpful and Friendly staff"

5
User 27/12/2022

The staff go above and beyond when you are in need. They ensured we had a room when we were stranded. When we needed a late check out they gave us extra time on top of the usual 12pm as our flight kept getting delayed later and later and we were stranded. The rooms were quiet and the beds comfy.

"Great Hotel"

5
User 26/12/2022

We were travelling to Mexico and I booked this hotel- upon arriving at the airport we found the shuttle to shuttle right away- We were in very early and the staff set about getting us a room right away! The staff was so friendly and accommodating. We used the on sight restaurant and were pleased with the staff there also. We had a flight out early the next morning and that was easily scheduled. We had a slight hiccup in what we were able to take abroad and the Management gladly kept our items until our return. Again excellent staff and quiet reasonable accommodations with both stays.

"Not what you expect"

3
User 25/12/2022

Old hotel. That they try to update. But run out of budget. Night staff not helpful and careless. The "24/7" shuttle doesn't exist and hopefully when you get there you have all your info of reservations beacuase after 15 hours traveling you need to show them how to do their job

"Best Western, Accommodating accomodations."

5
stevehead777, Anacortes, Washington 22/12/2022

Efficient staff, reasonable rates combined with excellent airport service. Management was very considerate in accommodating my flight cancellation and parking revisions. 4th time at this hotel for travel thru Vancouver.

"Awesome experience"

5
User 18/12/2022

Excellent customer service , very friendly staff & room cleanliness, very comfortable bed. Our flight got cancelled & rebook for next day, we called BW & the staff who answered the phone was very accommodating & allowed us for early check in. We were very exhausted from our international flights that their hospitality made our stay a very pleasant experience. On top of that they have awesome restaurant staff & the food was very good.

Dear Jorjeb403, Thank you so much for your rave 5 star review and really appreciate sharing your experience. Although the White Spot Restaurant is not ours, we will let them know of your comment. We will also share this with our staff. Thank you so much.

"Perfect for Overnight Stay between flights"

5
User 17/12/2022

Perfectly suited our purpose as an overnight stay between flights. Close to airport, shuttle was on time, registration was quick and room was clean. There is a White Spot there so we were able eat something. Its a very busy area but we weren't really bothered by the noise. We saw lots of poor reviews on this hotel but we really had nothing to complain about.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Robert, Thank you so much for 5 out of 5 rating for BW Plus Vancouver Airport. Our hotel is one of the closest hotel to YVR and really great for stop over stays. We also have many returning guests who do Park N Fly stays here. We are also appreciate your comments about noise, as this really depends on person to person, some people just sleep right through. Thank you once again and we hope to see you soon.

"Low Water pressure in shower"

2
Q8783SQkarenm, Dartmouth, Canada 17/12/2022

While restaurant is exceptional, after a long day of travel, the shower did not deliver. This was very disappointing. Room was poorly lit, but otherwise clean. 24 hour shuttle to and from the airport is also a benefit.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Q8783SQkarenm, We are glad that you find the White Spot restaurant onsite exceptional, we will certainly let them know. As for the shower, we will send this to our maintenance to fix. For the poorly lit room, can you please email the details to sales@bestwestermplusvancouverairport.com. We would like to know exactly where would this be, as we are planning to improve upon lighting the the room. Thank you so much.

"Not a Best Western Plus"

2
Q1438SRjohn, Squamish, Canada 15/12/2022

The building is in disrepair. The elevators and room keys a I stayed there for almost 5 weeks. I had booked a executive king and got a standard king. This was fine except that I was charged for a executive king. I have emails from the sales office on the prices. The elevators are in disrepair, there is no seating in the elevator lobbies for hand cap people to sit while waiting for the elevator. Not to much of a big deal. The door keys would only work for 2 days. So if it didn't work you have to always go down to the front desk. This is an inconvenience for handy cap people. The front desk staff always gave some crappy excuse of why this was happening. I stay in hotels about 150 to 200 days a year. I've heard everything. This is not a Best Western Plus. It would barley make a Best Western brand hotel. The room I was in was clean and meets your decor. Sloppily mind you but at least your colours. The cleaning staff was perfect. They did my room very well. With White Spot there it made it little more enjoyable. The staff there was excellent. Myself I don't think I would stay there again. We will see if they correct my bill. I have asked for a refund for the difference in the rate. I do have emails to back this up. I've had to stay at the Sandman or Microtel when there is no Best Western. I don't want the hotel manager to answer this. I'll wait for a responce from Best Western corporate to answer.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Q1438SRjohn, We understand your comments and would like to place our honest response for yourself and others who may be reading the reviews. First thank you for noting that room was clean, and perfect staff, etc. The room was indeed charged more as our front desk staff did not change rates at check in (by human error) but upon check out, the front desk manager have refunded all the differences caused by the human error on our part. We do apologize as we did not catch this error until upon check out. Our front desk manager has already responded via email and refund, and the refund should show up in few days, depending on financial institution. Warm regards.

"This property is not worth staying in"

1
User 13/12/2022

Dirty and poorly maintained. Bathroom floor was covered in long black hair and no apology from staff when mentioned. Large piece of metal protruding from side of bed and heating/cooling unit cover laying on the floor. I would not stay there again.

"Yes I would"

User 10/12/2022

There were a couple of inconviences in stay but benefits of cost, location to airport and great food in restaurant attached. Intersection very busy. Age certainly obvious on hotel. Room fairly quiet..

"Friendly and helpful team, convenient location"

5
User 27/11/2022

The concierge team was super efficient and helpful. We had forgotten to print off a form for airport customs and they were happy to help even though we were checked out. Lobby was clean and beautifully decorated for the holiday season. Conveniently located, just one short bus ride to the Canada line which will take you to downtown or the airport.

"Convenient for Airport"

3
Philip_Marsh, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom 25/11/2022

This hotel represents pretty good value for clean accommodation near the airport. However it is quite a distance from the light railway and it's not that easy to find your way back by bus. The local neighbourhood doesn't really have too much to offer either but that's not what you are here for. The staff are brilliant and there is a shuttle to and from the airport. Need to know: 1. Pillows are small 2. Equipment in room includes safe, tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, iron/board.

"Great location, very clean rooms, helpful staff"

5
User 24/11/2022

Great location 10 minutes to airport. Rooms very clean, rate very reasonable. Very coinvent to have white spot in lobby. Covered parking and electric outlet for EV's. 15-minute walk to Tim Hortons. I have planned a large group booking here now twice and great value for the money.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Dwayne, Thank you for your comments as we also accommodate corporate group business and alike. We are glad that you your group enjoyed the stay with us with a convenience of having White Spot onsite. We look forward whenever your travel brings back to Vancouver in welcoming your group back. Thank you once again for sharing.

"Staff were awful"

1
Disappointedt5763in, Lillooet, Canada 17/11/2022

I took me a lot to get my damage deposit back and I only stayed there for a few hrs before my flight out of country and it really didn't seem like I was gonna get it back. 4000km away in another country trying to call and speak to a manager. And they didn't have one in all day supposedly. And I guess that could be an explanation for such poor service. Also staff didn't seem to understand their own policies that well.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Dissapointedt6763in, Our system will automatically take certain amount of deposit for incidentals at check in and this is hotel industry standard. We have noted on another review that one guest did not provide the credit card and left our hotel with broken TV. Please note our incidental deposit often shows up on your account and it looks likea charge. But it is not a charge on your credit card and usually it will return back to you after your check out, 5-10 business days, depending on your bank as system automatically released the deposit at check out. If there was different billing issue you have had, please email us at fd@bestwesternplusvancouverairport.com directly and we can certainly look into what had happened. Thank you.

"BED BUGS IN ROOM!"

1
User 07/11/2022

I had booked a last minute room as my flight was cancelled. I got to my room around 6pm. I had issues with the heat not working and had to call the front desk to come look at it. Later in the night, I got up to go to washroom and when I returned I found bedbugs crawling in the bed. I called front desk right away to change rooms and the front desk clerk stated that there were no rooms available. I insisted that I was not staying in that room with bed bugs crawling on the bed! The front desk clerk was silent for a good 30 seconds and asked when I checked into hotel, which I told him 6pm. He then told me that he found a different room available. When I arrived at front desk, he rudely said that if I had an issue with the room that I should have alerted the front desk right away (as I was in hotel room for a few hours). I was able to change rooms and looked for bed bugs in my next room - second room was bed bug free. When I checked out - they wanted to to pay full price. I was frankly quite disgusted with the room and service.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Destiny3960, For your information, sometimes a bug from the trees around our hotel slips through window that open in our hotel guestrooms. We do when possible to change guestroom to another, if there was any issue.

"Good stay"

Clean room, comfortable bed, and the food was quite good at the restaurant will be staying at a Best Western in the near future as have also done in the past. Always most satisfied with the accommodations

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear DM, Thank you for sharing great and clean stay review online. We really appreciate the time you are taking to post and we look forward to welcome you back in the near future. We have guests who had stayed here for over half a year, over 10 years, as we used to be called Coast Vancouver Airport Hotel in the past. Thanks again.

"Traveler Beware!"

1
G8225LJchristophert, Whitehorse, Canada 01/11/2022

Where do I begin? I booked this same-day reservation while waiting to take a flight from Los Angeles, CA to Vancouver, BC and as a result, I had no choice but to book knowing that my reservation could not be canceled. As a result of delays in LAX, I also took the time later to check 3rd party sites where I uncovered that I could have gotten a rate of $128 and could have called the hotel directly to attempt to get this rate. I had even checked the rates again on the BW APP and it had dropped down to $139 for a King Bed Room. Instead, I called the BW Rewards phone number and spoke to an agent who advised that they are not allowed to change pricing on existing reservations and recommended that I contact the hotel directly and he provided the number. This was at 1:13 pm. I called the hotel and spoke to a lady who advised that the rate could not be changed but that she would provide an upgrade as I am a BW Rewards Diamond member. I had originally booked a standard 2 double beds room because the lowest price through the app was $156.00. She was going to upgrade to a room with 2 queen beds however, I advised that I only needed one bed and could I have a room with a King Bed. She advised that I could have a King Bed. 223 We arrived and finally cleared customs at 8:05 pm PST and I called to enquire about the shuttle service. I was advised that the shuttle would be there in 10 minutes. As frequent travelers, we know where the hotel shuttle busses pick up from on the domestic side of the terminal which is where we went prior to making the call. About 35 minutes later, I called again asking where the shuttle was. I was informed that I must have missed it. I informed the male employee that it did not come at all as we were outside, cold and standing in the rain at times so we knew he then said oh sorry about that he should be there in 10 - 15 minutes. Again, we waited and while we waited a couple approached me about when the next shuttle was. I asked which hotel they were looking for and they advised that they did not have reservations. I also knew from checking that other hotels had very few rooms left so I suggested that they come to the BW Airport Inn as I knew that they had rooms. I also told them that the shuttle should be arriving in 10-15 minutes. They decided to wait with us. Well, another 25 minutes later, the shuttle arrived and the driver got out of the shuttle smiling to inform us that they did not have any room for us in the shuttle. I later found out that due to a bunch of flight misconnections, and cancellations the hotel ended up getting a bunch of Airline guests that were unable to get to Reykjavik, Iceland. These were the people on the shuttle. I called angry that a guest who had been waiting over an hour was being told I would need to wait even longer for a shuttle. I then told the gentleman that we were not waiting and that they would be paying for my taxi ride there. They didn't want to but eventually gave in. Luckily there was a taxi pretty much right behind the shuttle so we hopped in and took it to the hotel. Unfortunately, or so we thought, they lost an additional room because of the couple that was going to go there because of my advising that they had rooms. The shuttle did not have any lights running other than the daytime running headlights. This is super dangerous for the people in the shuttle. Of course, because our taxi driver took a different exit we arrived after the unexpected airline guests had arrived and exited the shuttle. Now we were waiting in the rain again and in the cold. I finally asked if there was any way that we could make the line go around so that we could get in from the cold. Thankfully, the guests thought it was a good idea. I am not blaming these guests at all but I am still upset because of all the delays, almost an hour and a half wait and now we are at the back of the line to check-in. The staff were very disorganized and clearly did not have the training to deal with a large group checking in at once. And they were photocopying everyone's passports. I don't even know if that is legal. Finally, we get to the front to learn that we can't eat because the restaurant was closing in 5 minutes. Though, all the airline guests managed to get in to order food because it was being paid for by the airline. Thus, we had to order via Uber Eats to get food and drinks to the hotel. While She was checking in, I inquired as to how long she had worked there and she said only a month. When I asked for a supervisor or Manager, they do not have any on the shift. I feel sorry for the employees because they clearly had no support. She tried to give me back my credit card without charging it when she finally realized that I was a regular guest and that I was not happy. We were tired, I had to phone my mother-in-law to let her know that we finally arrived and checked-in to the hotel. We ate, and went to bed. Then morning came. I went and had a shower only to realize that there was only 1 bath towel in the room. Thankfully they had 2 hand towels because that is what I used to dry myself off. The shower/bath ledge was stained with something red, there was only 1 bar of soap for our hands and for showering. I was okay with that because I hate to waste 2 bars of soap for a one-night stay. Now we have some daylight through the windows and it is raining. I walked over to the window to open the sheers and curtains to find that water was coming in and running on the ledge right into the air conditioner/heating unit which could have caused a fire, electrocution, and many more things. Then I started to look for an open window but there wasn't any, and then I found black mold. The black mold is all around the frame and denser at the corners on the bottoms of the windows and the latches (old, cracked, and moldy). Because I have seen Hotel Impossible on Travel Channel, I decided to investigate a little more. I took the front cover of the ac/heat unit and the filter was completely clogged with dust and who knows what else, even the unit itself was dusty. There are 2 holes above the right side of the bed when you are facing it which I believe is just a picture taken down but it should be patched especially in today's world where camera spying happens in hotels, restaurants and more. Like I said, I am sure it isn't but how are you supposed to know? I went and checked out the fridge which thankfully was clean but could use a defrost of the freezer unit. and the microwave on the shelf above it. No time was showing so I opened the door and sure enough, no power. I pulled the cord in the back which I can only assume is plugged into an outlet or power bar behind the fridge but I really don't know. A guest should never have to pull out a fridge to try to get the microwave in the room they are paying for to be plugged in. When my spouse finished his shower, he dropped his razor shaving under the counter in the bathroom. This is not a joke - you will not believe what was found there and is probably still there... someone's dirty underwear on the drain pipe. He later told me that there was hair in the bed because when he wiped himself there was an extremely long piece of hair attached to the paper. I know that last part is gross but it just goes to show the negligence of the property, the property owner, and the staff. I am still trying to figure out how it was rebranded from a coast hotel to a BW PLUS. In my opinion it shouldn't even be a BW hotel period. I do have videos, and pictures to go with these allegations and I am more than happy to provide them to corporate. I am disgusted, will never stay at that property again, and will tell everyone about it which, unfortunately, can also affect the reputation of the BW Brand as a whole but I should never have had to pay for this room, and I really do not know what to do about it and whether I am willing to try a new BW property in the future.

Im super disappointed about our experience. We checked in the room and almost a minute after we walked in the room, my 1 year old picked up the rock (!) under the bedframe. I started to look around and discovered our pillowcases wasnt changed after previous guests, found multiple hairs and dirt in bathtoom, carpet obviously wasnt vacuumed, not even mention all dust.. Called to the front desk, they said willsend somebody from hsk. After 15min waiting we went downstairs to front desk, they gave us an other room. That was even worse - first thing I checked the bed, bedsheet wasnt changed, hair in the shower... We went too the front desk again.. Receptionist apologized and asked us to wait 5 min till our room will get cleaned. Im sorry, but you cant clean the room in 5min. Anyways we said we will go for a supper and will come back in couple hours. Hoping fir the best we returned in the room we were checked in at first, unfortunately we didnt get more then clean pillowcases and vacuumed room. Im sorry, but its not ok to check guests in dirty rooms. I had to clean a bathroom myself to feel comfortable to use it. I hope i will get paid lol

Oh the “Best” has long left this hotel! This is not a flagship hotel for Best Western. It is located in a seedy neighbourhood, accessible only by driving through a circuitous route and through a narrow one lane back alley to arrive at the front door. Check-in was slow and the three staff appeared to have more interest in chatting with themselves than getting us the keys to our room. The elevator to our room had worn floor keys — our second floor key had been painted in with what looked like ‘Write Out'. The hall carpets are worn and not clean. We given a room at the back of the hotel on the second floor - overlooking the alley and a garbage bin under our ‘screenless' open windows! This room was not secure nor safe. I prayed that we would not see rats or mice in our room, nor find someone in our room who climbed up on the garbage bin. The little hook to close the window fell off in my hand. The coffee maker was missing its coffee pod holder. The bathroom plumbing was very dated and we don't look too closely. Because it was now 9 pm and we needed to be up at 5:30 am, we didn't check out — even with my security concerns. Then the shuttle was overbooked the next morning — the sign up sheet had not been consulted until people started piling up their luggage! The front desk staff blamed the young woman who had been on the night before — even though the check out sheet was completed and ready the night before and this was beyond the capacity of the hotel's shuttle. DO NOT BOOK IN THIS HOTEL.

"Convenient location, great staff,"

teristb, Kelowna, Canada 17/10/2022

Staff was great. Called to request early check in when we arrived at the airport. The shuttle came to pick us up 25 mins early because they knew we were there. Paperwork was out on the counter so checkin was a breeze. The restaurant in the hotel was great to have so close and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Bring earplugs for sleeping if your room is facing Marine Dr. Otherwise it's a great hotel

"Poor customer service"

User 13/10/2022

I waited a long time for the airport shuttle, when I tried calling the hotel to check on status the staff hung up on me without even saying a word, this happened 3 times when they did pick up they were rude. They never told me to pls hold or anything they just picked up the phone then hung up. Super unprofessional. I gave them 2 stars because everything else that was bad isn't really the staffs fault, the hotel is just super outdated. If you need a airport shuttle pick a different hotel I saw a lot of other hotels shuttles come by often just not this ones.

Check In was smooth. Staff was great. Property is old but still, the location is convenient. Rooms were great. However, the cleaning staff can't understand language but that is okay as everyone is short staff now a days. Great place to stay

The room did not have any bath soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. Was told they were "out of stock" at 8:00pm. After pressing the Manager, he "found some that just came in" at 9:00pm. The shower drain backed up and flooded the floor with disgusting stuff from the drain. Manager was called and we were told we could not change rooms as they were full. However after pressuring him, he found us another room at 10PM, however still no soap! had to bring soap from the old room. So we were not able to relax in the new room till after 11pm!! The Manager said there would be some compensation but none has been received to date.

tmw24, Mount Nebo, West Virginia 19/09/2022

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Near Vancouver airport and shuttle service to and from airport was provided. Free coffee available in the lobby. Staff was courteous and willing to help in any way possible. Restaurant on site. Not close to any other places or things

"Basic but nice"

4
User 18/09/2022

Taxi driver from the cruise terminal had a miserable time finding the entrance to the property, but once inside, we found it to be basic but very nice. Starting with the front desk person, Jasmeen I believe, who found us a room at 11 a.m. while telling us check in wasn't until 4. The elevator clanked and clunked, but got us to and from our floor every time. The room was spacious, clean, and I would say recently updated. The attached restaurant offered good food, friendly service, and convenience. The 6:30 a.m. airport shuttle left promptly and had us at the airport by 6:45. All in all, a good place to stay overnight after a CruiseTour and before the long trek back home to MA.

"Disappointment"

1
EdP646, Edmonton, Canada 05/09/2022

Stayed at best western plus Vancouver airport the night before the boarding of our cruise for their offer of free airport shuttle and breakfast, what a disappointment. It took 3 phone calls and 50 minutes before getting pickup at the airport when the hotel is less than 10 minutes away. The hotel is old and dated, carpets are filthy, bathroom exhaust fan sounded like a jet engine ( room 219 ), didn't get our breakfast vouchers, was told we didn't pay more. Saw 2 different groups of hotel guests pushing their own luggage trolleys to the curbside from their rooms, guess I was wrong to assume hotels always have bellhops. With the name ‘ best western plus ‘ and $300+ a night, I expected something better than a 2 star motel, for the same money, there are many other choices. This is my first time trying out the best western hotel group, likely my last.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Edp648, We to understand your disappointment, but please allow us to respond on your comments if we may. The airport shuttle runs 24.7 and we would like to know your reservation details, so we can ensure front desk operations is consistent moving forward. Unless you have booked a breakfast package, our hotel does not include any breakfasts due to the fact, White Spot restaurant is onsite . If you did book the breakfast package and if we did not provide the included breakfast for you, please email us at fd@bestwesternplusvancouverairport to correct this. In the greater Vancouver almost all of 3 star hotel do not have bellmen, nor door men, this would be at a 4 star hotels that are usually priced at lot more depending on dates. Hotel prices this summer of 2022 have been very different from the past and our hotel is priced competitively in our market place depending on demand and supply. We checked prices for today Sept 13th online, our comparable hotel prices ranged from $371-389 where we were priced well under $300 today for your information. We will look into checking room 219 with our maintenance department. We would ask guests if there is any issues during your stay, please contact or front desk or front desk manager to ensure an enjoyable stay.

User 30/08/2022

Just prior to our arrival at the hotel, we read was very negative reviews. We were worried we made a mistake in booking this hotel. We ended up pleased with our choice. The back entrance bringing in luggage was difficult to manage as there are stairs. However, that was our only complaint. The hotel lobby and our room was clean. The service was great. The shuttle was fast and accommodating. The shuttle driver made sure each passenger group got to the correct terminal. The restaurant meal was fabulous!

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Trishrodgers14, Thank you so much for your honest comment as we continue to strive to provide accommodation to our guests. We do understand that there is 5 steps you would need to take in order for one to come into the lobby level. However, one could go around the side or drop off luggage at the front entrance, park the car and check in by coming to our front desk.

User 30/08/2022

This place is nothing like the pictures on their website. The odor throughout the entire hotel was horrendous. Upon check-in, despite pre paying for the rooms I reserved we discovered that they had put one on a waitlist so it was not available. The check in lady tried to force myself and colleague to share a room with one bed.. Once that was sorted and we got into our rooms it was clear mine hadn't been cleaned.. The bathroom was disgusting and there was pubic hair all over everything either the person who stayed there before me was the grossest human on earth or the cleaning staff was... Both of the locks on my door where non operational the chain and the deadbolt. I had to push table and chairs in front of the door for fear of being sex trafficked....

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear C5742QQianr, We do appreciate your comments. We are not sure why your room was wait listed if this was the case. point however, if the room was not cleaned, this would not be allowed to rent out and for this we do apologize. We will continue with improve, but in this case, we would really appreciate guest to advise any issues with the room during your stay or upon check in.

"Pre Cruise Hotel"

Barheat, Hamilton, Canada 23/08/2022

We were arriving late the day before our cruise and wanted a hotel to sleep at with an airport shuttle. It was a lot less expensive than hotels near the cruise port and we had arranged for cruise line transfer the next morning. Our flight to Vancouver was delayed 5 hours and we arrived at 2am. Hotel shuttle came quickly and got is there at 3am. Room was OK and quiet. Bed was comfortable. Front desk provided decaf coffee pouches for the in room coffee maker. Shuttle to the airport departs every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour. Drivers were very good in handling the luggage for us. Didn't stay long enough to be concerned about neighbourhood amenities or restaurants.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Barheat, Thank you for your comment that our hotel was less expensive when compared to downtown hotels and you had great shuttle service as well as comfortable stay with us.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Room was clean and the bed firm but comfortable. I would definitely stay here again should I be back in the area. Definitely room for a family of 4 with the pullout couch. The only thing I didn't like was the lighting at the bathroom sink mirror, a minor inconvenience.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for your review and comments, and we look forward to welcome you back soon whenever your travel brings to Vancouver.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. Depending on arrival or departure and space permitting, we do try to store luggage to accommodate one's schedule. Our White Spot restaurant is moderately priced restaurant and one can see the menu at whitespot.ca for others wondering what the menu prices are. At our hotel, we offer best rates to Best Western Members.

My husband was spoke with hotel staff prior to our stay to confirm they could freeze our fish caught and processed for our flight. They said they could overnight the box in the restaurant freezer. When we arrived that was not the case. The evening manager offered to pack our fish with ice cubes which was not ideal. So the fish stayed in our room with ice, resulting in leaking water and a wet box. They said they upgraded our suite but it was located above a mechanical room with loud equipment. Beware, the hotel is located in a congested area at the intersection of major highways, you have to pay for parking, and communication with staff is inconsistent.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, We have provided extra service to accommodate your fish, provided additional ice, boxes and extra garbage bags, as storing your fish is not something we can do. For your information, we spoke with our staff and she did not provide yes to store the fish as we have not place to store them, nor it is our policy to do so. Our manager have extended a complimentary parking as a gesture of goodwill, and we believe we have extended our warm hospitality. Thank you.

Found a room tent card that says my health is important hope I can add pic . As I sat for morning constitutional noticed that the plastic splash guard has a lot of mold behind it. It should be replaced. Also the renovation of the bathroom could have changed the GFCI plug but the original outlet is still there, they do get weak over time.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, We do apologize regarding the maintenance issue you have encountered and we are working together with our housekeeping department to address issues. For other guests, please inform us if you encounter maintenance issues during your stay to our front desk so that we can move forward in addressing issues on hand. Thank you.

"Decent place for overnight stay near the airport"

deepakgupta5, Noida, India 03/08/2022

We stayed for one night at the hotel. Er couldn't take the complimentary shuttle from the airport as no one picked up our phone but that was the only jarring aspect. Room was comfortable and the AC was a relief in the heat wave. The complimentary breakfast was very nice and overall the staff was very courteous and eager to help

"Good hotel with shuttle service"

4
belliveauangele, Halifax, Canada 29/07/2022

The hotel was nice. I had read some bad reviews so we were a bit worried, but the room was clean. The bed was clean and comfortable. The room overall was nice but could use a bit more deep cleaning. We used the shuttle and it was very easy to use and right on time. There was a problem with the TV which was a bit frustrating but we figured it out in the end. It was just an older system.

"A place to stay"

2
eemma1234, Nova Scotia, Canada 29/07/2022

Stayed for 4 nights. Bed was super comfy, nice clean sheets/ towels. Room was super warm as no A/C, which made a little uncomfy in July. In the evenings drains would smell like sewage, tried plugging drains didn't help. Elevator had stopped working at one point and seem very unsafe, a lot of bouncing and strange noises coming from the elevator (took the stairs after that). Overall not what I was expecting for the price we paid. Location of the hotel is right on a corner so kind of strange placing for pick ups. Overall the place could use some maintaining.

"Noise and light!"

1
User 22/07/2022

The traffic noise in the room was beyond loud. Even with the room fan on, we could not drown out the sound of loud vehicles. Between that and the fact that you cannot close the curtains properly to get the room dark meant we barely slept at all. Ruined our whole first day in Vancouver - as we were beyond exhausted!

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, We understand that you were exhausted as you arrived past mid night, and we are sorry to hear the room you stayed was noisier then expected with double pane windows. Our curtains are usually pretty good in shielding lights although it is not 100% black out curtains. We do our best to accommodate guests request as much as possible, but due to availability, we are sorry that we cannot accommodate all, all the time.

"Not Impressed"

User 18/07/2022

We stayed here from Saturday to Monday. When we were checking in the front staff seemed very flustered, we got here at 3 and they said check in isn't until 4, they checked with cleaning staff to make sure our room was good and we were able to get in early. Room was OK but issues we had was our toilet ran constantly and the hot water in the sink in the bathroom didn't work. Like water did not come out at all. I went to front desk to tell them about hot water tap issue and they told me, "that couldn't be." Wrote it down anyways. The tap was not repaired and we continued to wash our hands in the tub. We went to eat dinner at the white spot on site. After our long day of enjoying what Vancouver had to offer with my wife and 2 children we hoped we could just relax at the hotel. Waited to be seated for 45 min. Did not see any staff nor were we greeted by any staff. Kids were very hungry so had to pack every one up and ended up driving to another restaurant to eat. Guess our traveling wasn't over. Driving around Vancouver when not from around there is a feat on its own. Overall this has been a bad experience with Best Western and don't think I will be staying here again.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, We would like to apologize for the guest rooms maintenance issue you have encountered, and we will review our maintenance details. We also like to apologize in behalf of White Spot restaurant, as they recently had staffing illness that have affected their services. We would usually accommodate early check in before 4pm if rooms are available, we will remind our front desk staff to ensure consistency. Thank you.

"Guest services a Flop"

2
User 12/07/2022

We stayed here for our anniversary. Much needed work in customer service for all staff including management. A request made at check in, it took staff 3+hours and few calls from our end, to address it. Obvious staff were getting annoyed, as one person at front desk hung up on us. A leak at bathroom sink was not addressed. Obvious it's been there for sometime as there is a rust stain below the leak. Door stop in bathroom is situated in a dangerous place, for when exiting the bathtub, very unsafe. Brown dirt stain on bedspread, was gross. Pillows are extremely soft. Alot of dust accumulated on top of mini fridge, was gross. Napkins from previous guests were left on one of our nightstands. The fridge was cranked right up, freezing things. Was difficult to move, cause it sits on carpeting and is under an enclosed shelf area. Friday night, outside our window we listened to a addict screaming n yelling around, unpleasant words, sometimes at himself, people passing by, hotel staff and vancouver police, this went on for 2.5hours. At check in time, the solution to a possible problem, staff told an elderly guest in our party, to park across the street. Problem solving skills lacking. We checked in at approx 4:30, both of our rooms were not ready, so staff solution was to move one of our rooms. We asked at time of reservations to be placed close to elevator for the senior in our group and yet we were given rooms far from the elevator. One of the elevators was acting strangely.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Liana, First, we would like to sincerely apologize for inconveniences and guestrooms not being ready at 4pm, as we review to improve our services moving forward including the status of your room. The room such as this would not be used, and having previous guests napkin is not our usual standard, and this will be addressed with our housekeeping. Regarding rooms not close to elevator, once again we would like to apologize, perhaps at the time of check in no rooms near by was available and we should have mentioned this to you and your party at that time.

Not sure why such a low rating. I guess the parking lot is a bit small, but other than that, I have a pleasant experience. Bed was comfy, room and bathroom were both very clean. Staff at the front were great and let me check in quite early. All around positive experience.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review

Needs to have other options for food, and not just oriental restaurants. Quick check in check out. Shuttle to the airport was very timely and assistive. Nice driver. Beds comfortable. Bar downstairs was under staffed, but drinks were good.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for your review and we are happy to hear this. Regarding just oriental restaurants, the BC legendary White Spot restaurant is onsite and serves Canadian cuisine, however from time to time we had staff shortage and we do apologize for slow service as we continue to improve.

"Really horrible hotel, glad I didn't actually stay there"

1
251aimenh, Chicago, Illinois 01/07/2022

Quite sad to see this hotel labeled as 'best' when it is the worst in everything. EVERYTHING. I made the reservation on booking.com and when my wife and I arrived, it was impossible to even find the place. That itself isn't a good sign. When we found the place, we walked inside and there are probably like, 15 people waiting in the lobby, all of them just looking very tired and upset. Two people working the front desk, each of them dealing with customers who are not very happy and complaining about different issues taking place in their room. Finally we get to the desk, and they inform us they can't check us in early or anything of that nature. I ask them...so when we come back at 4 PM, which is check-in time, we need to wait in line with all those people in the lobby? She was like, yes, that is how it is. I laughed at her and just walked away. I cancelled my credit card that I had used to hold the reservation and found another hotel that cost me 70 dollars more. So glad I did. That dump called a 'hotel' should just be razed to the ground, rebuilt and purposed for something else.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Guest, we are disappointed to hear your experience but for your information, most of our staff are new and may take a little longer, especially when guests arrives all at once. Having said this if you email us your reservation details to fd@bestwesternplusvancouverairport.com, we will look into who were working at that time to further training to better serve our guests. In regards to the direction of our hotel, we have incorporated parking direction and also the airport shuttle information on pre-arrival email we have set up to sent. We do our best to accommodate early check in when available as noted online with other guests, and unfortunately at that time your room type was not available to check in. Our policy is to check guest in if available before schedule time of 4pm. Thank you.

"Do not stay here."

mattb300, Sainte-Cecile-de-Masham, Canada 25/06/2022

Staff was friendly at the front desk but didn't really answer our questions. AC in the room doesn't work. Fan in the bathroom makes a loud noise but doesn't actually work. Half of the outlets in the room don't work. Called down to the front desk twice to ask questions and there was no answer. I could keep listing issues as I'm not done and there was a number of issues with cleanliness in the room, but don't stay here. Pay a little more or possibly even less as this wasn't cheap and stay somewhere else. I've stayed in Best Westerns before, they should sell this property off and remove their name as this is a dump.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review

This hotel needs work. Broken items with live electric wires hanging out in room. Very loud bathroom vent fan. Not to welcoming to Best Western rewards members. A/C in room blew hot. Buttons in elevator missing floor numbers. Elevators feel rickety.

"Business trip- hotel was booked for me."

Front desk staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Honestly that's where it ends, the restaurant has no service we gave up and never went back due to brutally slow service. Our room had a broken sink drain that made us change rooms at night. Staff was accommodating, but the place is old and not well maintained, broken faucet handles, chipped tub and sink, hotel needs a makeover for sure. It's a long walk to a sky train and is in an industrial type area. Elevator buttons broken off, our room phone had no labels for all the buttons so couldn't call out. If the staff were not so nice we would have left. Won't stay again.

"Horrible place. Toilet not cleaned with urine ring, silverfish insects, awful AC unit with trash inside the vent. Etc…."

1
User 03/05/2022

One of the worst places I have ever stayed at and I have hundreds of nights spent in hotels everywhere. Far from being cheap (paid 218$) this should be considered a motel not a hotel. Had to call twice to get a shuttle after waiting almost 45 min at airport. The hotel is dirty, front desk staff nonchalant, room wasn't properly cleaned, terribly noisy facing the street, elevator buttons falling off, had trash inside the vent of the AC/Heater unit, silverfish insects crawling on the bedside table, toilet was not cleaned prior with urine rings on the rim, etc. Etc. No coffee at front desk as mentioned by others. You should be paying 80$ to stay at a place like this. Do yourself a favour, for 30-50$ more you can stay in a decent hotel and avoid this one.

Hotel Management, Other at Best Western Plus Vancouver Airport Hotel, responded to this review
Dear Valued Guest We pride ourselves on delivering a friendly uncomplicated hotel experience during your time with us, we have unfortunately fallen short of our goal during your recent stay. Please accept my sincere apology for the negative experience here at the hotel. I will definitely share your feedback with the appropriate hotel departments to ensure that this was an isolated issue that is corrected moving forward. We hope to have an opportunity to better your experience the next time your travels bring you back to the Vancouver Airport area. Regards Hotel Management

I always use TA reviews as a guide when choosing hotels; however, due to unforeseen circumstances I needed a hotel room for one night near YVR on extremely short notice. I found and booked this hotel on a third party site without completing any research whatsoever. Check in was quick and I advised the employee that I required the airport shuttle at 830am the next morning. This information was recorded. My 2nd floor room was small but clean and included a small coffee maker and supplies. The bathroom is renovated with a large shower (no tub). The hotel is steps from a main thoroughfare so road noise is present. The room faces a construction zone and became quite noisy by 8am but this was not an issue for me. There is an in-house restaurant (White Spot) but no room service is available. Neither breakfast or or coffee/tea is offered in the hotel lobby. On check out, I advised that I had been booked for the 830am airport shuttle; however, the employee had recorded my room# under the 10am shuttle. Thankfully, there was only one other person on the 830am shuttle. The hotel is 5 minutes' drive from the airport. The service from the hotel staff was lacklustre. I'm sure there are better hotels near Vancouver International Airport in the same price range as this Best Western Plus. I just didn't have time to find one.

"Not a Best Western Plus"

Don't stay here ! I do not understand how this Best Western is called Plus. This is a NO plus Best Western. Our cab had to circle around many times to find enter to lobby , finally had to pull over on busy highway to let us out. No coffee in lobby like we were told suppose to be for early morning flight . Location is in busy traffic area on main rode to airport. Had to call for toilet paper as it was almost empty roll. We were given a number to call for shuttle when we when we landed back home . Only to listen to their message about their hotel over and over again . No one ever answered phone so we took cab back to hotel .Was Disappointed tired and angry in shuttle service. D. Maxwell

"Very Disappointing"

This hotel should not be rated as a Best Western Plus! The building is older and shows it's age. Metal items in the rooms such as bathroom fixtures, closet door slides are rusted and marked.Rooms and hallways very tired and worn looking. Three USB ports in the room, only one of which worked. Bathtub chipped. Bed was comfortable and clean Front desk staff at checking was rude and uncaring of not only my situation but that of a guest in front of us who was already checked in and complaining of no heat. He was told there was no maintenance or housekeeping staff on duty to assist and it would have to wait for the next day! After protesting that his wife and child needed heat the front desk clerk asked him to wait to the side until he had dealt with us and one other group checking in. Daytime staff not much better, no empathy for difficulties encountered. “Could care less attitude!” There is no coffee in lobby or breakfast available. There is a White Spot on the premises that does not open until 8 am and there is no voucher issued by the hotel toward any breakfast, as is the case in many other BW locations that also have restaurants! There was a homeless person digging in the dumpster in the hotel parking lot at around 11 pm when we checked in and a woman hanging around outside by the front door striking up conversations with male guests! Despite the available hotel shuttle to the airport, this hotel is not good value for your money. I am a diamond level member with Best Western hotels and find this location the most disappointing in all of the Best Western locations in Western Canada that I have stayed in. Reports to hotel manager resulted in a standard, generic reply! Even a follow up call was unconvincing of any care to rectify the situation at this location

"If you have long hair - the showers here are BRUTAL."

I stayed here on the way to/from Mexico, just overnight. Didn't need anything fancy. The staff here are very nice, and it is convenient having White Spot attached to the hotel for a meal, as well as a free airport shuttle. The room itself was okay. Linens were modern but fixtures are quite dated. Poor lighting for makeup, but the bed was comfy and the towels were really nice. The deal-breaker here for me though, is the shower. The dreaded "low-flow" shower heads that save NO water, they just make my shower take 3 times longer as it's next to impossible to rinse the shampoo/conditioner out of long hair. UGGG. So frustrating. Will not stay again due to the awful water pressure. But if you're a man or have short hair (or don't shower) then this place may be just fine for you.

"No coffee ? How is this a BW plus?"

Did the job before early morning flight . Like the free shuttle. Very disappointed they are not offering coffee in the lobby. In the room they offer one coffee and one tea bag …no cream. Mattress was a bit worn and leaned to one side . I would probably stay somewhere else next time.

Well where do I begin with this? First thing I have to say is the staff are friendly and very helpful. Then it gets worse from there. As my wife and I were speaking to someone at the front desk, we were attacked my some crazy guy with a walker and threatened. The staff did nothing but watch. Then as we get up to our room to destress and get comfy we pull back the sheets to crawl in to get a power nap before we leave for a while and as I pulled back the sheets I found some one else's blood on the sheets which grossed me out. We also found dirty face cloths, and even the shower still had someone else's hair in it. For a hotel, this place is lacking pride in their work, no one seems to care about anything. I would not recommend coming here.

Dear Thephotoguy250, We are sorry for your unpleasant experience. However we would like to assure you that Cleanliness is the 1st on our priority list. We have a professional housekeeping team and its in our SOP to clean every room everyday followed up with a check by the supervisors on duty. We would like to assure you too that our bedsheets and face cloth are clean professionally. After washing, the supervisors do a post check on every bedsheet and face cloth to ensure that everything is in order. The housekeepers do a secondary check before they layout the bedsheet to make the beds. And it will be followed by the third check by the room supervisors after the cleaning hours before check in time. I would like to assure you that we value the time you spent on providing us feedback, we have also look in depth on the issues. We highly appreciated your comments as it will assist us in becoming better at what we do. We hope for the opportunity to welcoming you back in the future. Regards, Hotel Management

"Disgracefully Mismanaged and Disorganized"

This hotel caused us massive stress. Basically because they apparently change their name once a month. It is no longer called “Vancouver Airport Hotel.” It is now called “Best Western.” However, they sent us a confirmation email with the name “Hotel West Signature”, which is the WRONG HOTEL. You would think this is a detail they could get right – their own name. They also sent us an email saying we could call for a shuttle from the courtesy phone at the airport. BUT they did not bother to clarify WHICH hotel we were supposed to call. The courtesy phone at Vancouver Airport did not list Hotel West Signature on their list of hotels to call. Their confirmation email did not give a phone number. We could not find their land line phone number because Google is so confused by them, so we had to take a cab. We asked the cab driver to take us to Hotel West Signature. He had never heard of it. So we gave him the address from the confirmation email. The driver bought us to a shabby looking hotel with a new cloth sign saying Best Western. “This is your hotel,” he told us. “No, it is NOT,” I replied. “We are not staying at a Best Western. We are staying at a hotel called Hotel West Signature.” Then we drove around in circles in the rain, trying to figure out where the Hotel West Signature was. My wife and I, and the cab driver, were trying our best to stay calm, but getting a bit snippy with each other. We very nearly had a car accident. Eventually we managed to understand that the cab driver was saying that the Best Western was in fact at the address we had given him, so therefore it must be the right hotel. So back we went to the shabby hotel. I asked them if we had a reservation, and found out that we did. In the meantime I had to apologize to the irate cab driver for getting snippy with him. It was not his fault. The fault lies with a totally useless hotel administration who change their name and do NOT BOTHER to change their letterhead on their email, so that the poor hapless customer literally does not know the name of the hotel they are going to stay in. ALL OF THIS could have been prevented if someone took 5 minutes to change their email so that the name on the confirmation email matched the name on the physical hotel. And then they compound it by telling you to phone for a shuttle, BUT DO NOT BOTHER to tell you in the email WHICH HOTEL YOU SHOULD PHONE. We STILL do not know what you should call for a shuttle from the airport. I asked them about it, and they just looked blank. They said that they did not know if the courtesy shuttle sign had been updated, and did not know what they were listed as. It seems that no one actually knows what this hotel is called, including the workers. If you Google the address, it comes up as The Coast Vancouver Airport Hotel. The cloth sign outside says Best Western Plus. In the email confirmations, it is called West Signature. In all my life, I have never seen such a shoddy mess of an excuse for a badly run hotel. And the final straw? We battled to find our room because it was un-numbered. Who ever heard of a hotel room with no number on it? The staff said they are rebranding and don't know what their name is yet. THAT IS NO EXCUSE for making your customers' lives so stressful. Also, they advertise that they have a gym, but when we visited, they said it was closed for renovations. The room was not pre-heated when we arrived, and was quite cold. The internet worked well, which surprised us. Also, the internet password is printed on the room key, which is convenient. The room was clean, and had the correct configuration that we had requested. Very basic, but comfortable enough for one night. The Cable TV was pretty good. The only restaurant option is a White Spot. You get 10% off with your room key. It is located right in the hotel, and the food was fine. Don't believe them when they say it is “in a regional park.” That is utterly inaccurate. You are located directly on a very busy major road (SW Marine Drive). Luckily, we were on the non-road side, so the room was quiet at night. The shuttle is excellent, once you can figure out how to catch it. The driver was careful, and very polite and friendly. Definitely the only reason to stay in this hotel is the convenience of the shuttle. They even let us use the shuttle to go and get our COVID-19 tests at the airport, and then come back again. So that was a big point in their favor. The check-in staff were polite but unfriendly. I suspect that is because when we came in, my wife was distraught, and I was furious. They took absolutely no responsibility for causing our distress with their shoddy mess of communications. Not a word of empathy, and certainly not a hint of an apology. I actually think they were incapable of understanding that misrepresenting the name of your hotel in your email communications, and failing to give vital information about the shuttle phone number, is extremely disruptive for your guests, and utterly disrespectful of them. I would rather sleep on a chair at the airport than ever use this hotel again.

"Smelly and shabby"

Nice staff but the Coast Airport Hotel is not nearly as nice as the photos would suggest. It's actually pretty run down and not in the best area of town. The rooms had been renovated at some point in the past year or two but the quality of the renovation was very poor. Looked like a 12 year old slapped one thin coat of paint on the walls. In the bathroom you could see the brush strokes clearly with the old paint showing underneath. The room also smelled like wet dog and was super humid. After about an hour I figured out that the carpets had recently been shampooed which was great but they hadn't dried yet so it was a pretty uncomfortable, humid, smelly night for us. Luckily we only needed a place to lay our heads for one night as we were off to an early flight at YVR the next day. Not very relaxing though. Not recommended.

"not the best experience"

Not a great location. Very busy and noisy. Forgot something in the room-called the same day I checked out and they could not find it. Was very disappointed. As the item was not of value but it just meant a lot to me. I would not recommend it when you travel with family.

User 19/09/2021

Horrible experience overall. From late and problematic shuttle service (30 minute wait when front desk tells me just 5 minutes and check engine light making a constant beeping sound), to terrible hotel aesthetic (Walls were peeling, elevator trims were falling off, Room paint was peeling, bad odor, noisy AC unit), I would no suggest anyone to stay in here unless it is revamped
