    « Football Getaway »

This hotel is very close to shopping centers, several restaurants and very close to Fedex field. We chose this hotel because of the location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The also offer a shuttle bus to take you to places close to the hotel.

« Great hotel for Fed Ex Field games »

We had a good experience at this hotel! The staff was one of the friendliest I have ever seen. Everyone we met was extremely nice and helpful! The room was clean and comfortable. My son ordered a sandwich from restaurant and was ok and pretty pricey. However there are lots of good restaurants really close (Kobe, Fridays, Golden Corral, ect) We went to a skins game and took their shuttle there. The only big downfall for us was the "heated pool." I specifically booked this hotel so my kids could swim and the was was extremely cold! We asked for them to turn it up so they could get a swim in before we left the following day and it was still freezing :(

    « Hotel for game »

The read a lot of bad reviews but honestly, I am very pleased. We decided to pick this hotel due to it being 1.8 miles from FedEx field. It was updated, had a nice hotel restaurant/bar. Staff was supper nice and helpful. Not to the mention the price was super super nice considering game day weekend and being so close to the field. I have nothing negative to say except that they try to make the restaurant a lil too fancy for the crowd they're drawing in. Should be more like pub. Other than that. Great and will be coming back when we go to another game.

    « Don't stay here! »

It started as we exited the elevator. The hallway was filthy. Garbage overflowing the can in the hallway and the carpet was disgusting. Upon entering our room we were hit with a foul smell. If it wasn't after an epic drive I don't think we would have stayed there. My ocd filth radar was in over drive We're well seasoned travelers and this was the first place we ever feared the possibility of bed bugs. Keep looking

    « Not positive impression »

Not a very effective housekeeping staff, hallways were dirty and uncleaned for the duration of my stay The Restaurant and Lounge need to be separate, as the PA music is loud and bar crowd and entertainment even louder. The food is good and portions are large.

    « Sept 24 stay »

Terrible management that is 100% unwilling to help customers. I booked room for my sister through trip advisor that was supposed to be 1 room for 3 people with 2 queen beds. The information was correct in trip advisors system, my confirmation was correct and the info was correct in Best Western central reservations (because they were also called); however the hotel took it upon themselves to put my sister and her companions in a room with only 1 double bed for 3 people. They then refused to honor the original reservation and common sense didn't tell them 3 people (2 females and 1 male) couldn't sleep in 1 bed. Hotel management allows the homeless community and cleaning staff to stay at the hotel and they get treated better than the paying customers. While my sister was trying unsuccessfully to resolve the issue with the front desk, all the homeless people were all up in her business. They were telling the front desk clerk what to do and the clerk was following their direction. All the while my sister is about to be robbed by them when they saw she had cash. The homeless were walking in and out all night. The cleaning crew sleeps there but the hotel didn't see fit to honor the original reservation my sister had. Being from out of town, and not knowing area, they had no where else to go. As a result, the male friend had to sleep on the floor which is totally unacceptable considering the hotel allows the homeless and janitorial crew yo stay in rooms. My sister then had to beg for pillows and blankets so the person on floor could at least not have to lay on bare floor. They didn't even want to do that. Hotel mgmt told my sister it wasn't their problem and refused to accommodate them. When my sister made me aware of issue, I immediately called trip advisor. We called central reservations and confirmed all correct. I then conferenced in the hotel clerk to resolve. We were on the phone from 11:30 pm to 1 am. Her name was Priscilla and she flat out refused to help giving me a song and dance that no manager was around etc. However, if I had told my sister to call and say a crime had been committed, guarantee a mgr would have been right there. I was then told mgr be in at 7 am. My sister after an hour was able to get them to lower rate from $150 down to $90. However, that was still unacceptable because her friends had to sleep on floor while homeless were having good time. Since this wasn't what I reserved, I was determined to talk to someone in the morning. However that didn't go any better. Same song and dance except now I'm told no one is available until Mon. I then find out my sister and her companions weren't able to have breakfast (which was included in the reservation ) because again the homeless had eaten up all the foods and nothing was left. One of them was a women with 14 kids. This is again totally unacceptable! !!!! Frustrated and still trying to get my sister a full refund, since no one was willing or even trying to help me, I have elevated the issue to corporate customer care which gives me a file number and forces hotel to respond. WHILE THE HOTEL IS NICE, THE MGMT ESPECIALLY AT LOWER LEVEL IS HORRIBLE! !!! Not sure what kind of side deal they are working with the transients but clearly they aren't concerned with paying customers! !! DO NOT STAY HERE EVER UNLESS YOU ARE LOOKING TO BE HARASSED BY HOMELESS, NOT BE ABLE TO SWIM, EAT OR ANYTHING BECAUSE HOMELESS TAKING AND USING EVERYTHING. DO NOT EXPECT MGMT TO ASSIST YOU BECAUSE THEIR ATTITUDE IS IT'S NOT OUR PROBLEM AND THEY WILL JUST SAY I'M SORRY I CAN'T HELP YOU NOR CAN I CALL ANYONE!!! IT IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE THAT PAYING CUSTOMERS HAVE TO SLEEP ON THE FLOOR!! I REPEAT DO NOT STAY HERE EVER, EVER, EVER. YOU WILL REGRET IT FOR SURE AND BE LEFT FRUSTRATED AND ANGRY LIKE I AM!!!! WORST HOTEL EVER. UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE ALL THE WAY AROUND!!#

    « Terrible »

Upon arrival we were assisted by an employee that seemed confused (later found out it was his 2nd day but he was alone checking in clients). This same employee told us breakfast ended at 10 and it ended at 9. He also could not tell us our total and said that it would only print out when we checked out. Later when we looked at our bank statement we found out that they charged us an extra night smh. When we called them they said they only charged two nights, when it is clearly an extra night taken from our accounts. The bathtub shower water would not drain out and we called maintenance but they never came. Our safe would not open and said that our code was not correct bc it reset itself somehow. Again we called and they said they didn't have a key but would send someone to help but they never came. I went online and googled how to open that brand safe and went to manufacturers website, obtained admin code and the safe open. Real secure, huh. Lastly, on our last night the air conditioner went out and we were smelling something burning. We were going to call the front desk but considering their track record and the fact it was our last night, we decided to just endure it because there was no point. We just toughed it out through the heat and burning smell. I would not stay here again because I felt like the employees do not have a sense of pride in their job and they are very unorganized. It was a very different experience. Not recommended.

« Horrible place to stay »

There is so much that I could say about my stay. Whwn you look at the website you think that this is a nice, comfortable, quiet hotel. 1. This hotel boards the homeless (nice thing to do). Would be nice for customers to kniw this in advance. I would have chosen a different hotel. There are children running around everywhere. Half dressed and unsupervised. 2. Expected to swim in the indoor pool but it was closed extra early by 8pm. 3. The onsite bar/restaurant closed at 9pm. 4. On site breakfast buffet/restaurant closed at 9am. Very inconvenient when yoy choose a hotel for these faetures and have to go out and spend extra money to eat. Was told by front desk they closed at 10am. Hotel looks horrible due ti children running everywhere, trash, food, gum, spilled drinks in elevator, all over hotel. 5.All night you hear doors slamming. 6.Front desk attendant got an attitude when we asked for an extra cover because they dont use comforters. I would never stay here again.

    « Best Western stay »

great, we had a great time and the ball game was great for me not my wife, the room and service was great, I would recomend to any one to stay at this best western. It was a little hard to get to but if you have a GPS no sweat.

Hotel lobby really impressive and very clean. Hotel staff outstanding support. Room better than other Best Western's I have stayed in. Morning breakfast OUTSTANDING! Eggs, sausage, fried potatoes, toast, bagels, sweets, pancakes (make your own), and many more breakfast items. All were very, very tasty and never ran out. Will stay here the next time we come up to a Redskin game.

« great hotel Restaurant no so much »

This hotel is clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. My room was nice and the bed very comfortable. The only bad thing is that the hotel Restaurant was very very loud and packed. Had to drive to another restaurant so I could eat.

    « Reunion Fiasco »

I reserved two rooms w/two double beds in Feb. 2016. Checked on my reservations twice prior to attending my family reunion in Aug 2016. When I arrived on the day of my reunion to check in, my reservations had been changed from rooms w/double beds to rooms w/one king size bed. When I told them of the problem I was told " sorry but we are booked up". Nothing was done to accommodate me and my traveling partners. No compensation whatsoever. Of course there was not a manager on site. I ended up going to a different hotel, a BETTER hotel that gave us amazing rates on 2 rooms with 2 double beds. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone as it's obvious that neither reservations or guests mean much to them.

« Pricey but really nice staff »

The staff is really nice and helpful, the breakfast is good, the room is fine. Pool access is weird 3-9 Friday-Monday and Wednesday, no hot tub. It is close to expressway and the Largo Town Center, lots of restaurants.

    « Could be a great place »

Lots of permanent residents, wasn't expecting that at this hotel. Service at restaurant was poor and that was one of the reasons I decided to stay there. Maids did not service room until about 5:30pm a couple of days, one day they used a very strong cleaner in my room that hung in the air for several hours

    « Don't worry Be Happy »

Kind elderly gentleman brought us the extra bed covers needed. Friendly personnel we met in the hallway. Room 411 close to elevator which was good for our senior family member. Toilets for little folks. Tall people look out, your knees will be in your chest. Cable service continued to look like a puzzle, Need brighter light for bathroom mirror. Ants in the bathroom and the coffee maker had the old coffee in it. Not sure how long that had been there. Ice make on our floor out of order. Lots of families their (4th July) weekend. Need designated smoking area. People smoking in front of the hotel not good. I parked in handicap spot could not get out of my vehicle because of the person standing in front. Even though my windows where up smoke still filtered in. Second hand smoke makes my chest hurt. Little inconveniences made our visit a tad bit annoying. I will try again, Second chances are a good thing.

« Unreliable Hotel, stay away!!! »

Be careful with them, they are unfair! The hotel cancelled our confirmed reservation, because they overbooked it. The receptionist knew this exactly, it was clear that they did this with many Booking or other reservations! There was a concert at FedExField (venue) and the reason we made reservation at this hotel was to be close to the actual concert.??

    « Great potential! »

Mixed review.....This place has everything going for it....great staff, beautiful hotel, and perfect location. EXCEPT everyone seems to know it. It is OVERWHElmed with people. The hotel staff and equipment can not keep up. First room door wouldn't lock, second room air couldn't keep up, ice machines not working well, breakfast not hot, no coffee left (@830am), expired items, cold food. BUT the staff including the manager was really working hard to fix all of these, so hopefully soon it will be back very soon!.

« Very nice hotel let down by poor management »

First let me say what I liked about this hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. At the last minute we decided to ask for an (wheelchair) accessible room - no problem at all, and sorted with a smile. Every member of staff we had interaction with was friendly and helpful. Although we did seem to spend a lot of time waiting for it the (free) shuttle service was a great help and again the drivers were funny, friendly and very helpful. Bathrooms were clean and straightforward to use with a range of complimentary toiletries and clean towels. Now it starts to get a bit disheartening. There were no potato products (not even a french-frie) available in the restaurant when we ate there on our first night. The hot breakfast should have been excellent but every morning it was a lottery to see what had run out or was about to run out. One morning it was bacon, the next it was bowls for the cereal, the next cereal itself, no preserves, no butter. The list goes on. This is purely down to poor management as the staff were doing their best with what was provided. In the lobby there was a soft drinks/water fridge. Quiet well stocked when we arrived - but empty on the morning we checked out. Not a huge problem - but symptomatic of the failings we experienced. So I have to ask myself would I stay there again?? Probably not, at least not while it is being managed so poorly. They let the staff down.

    « Out of everything »

Let me start this review by saying the staff are extremely friendly and are always apologizing. The hotel was clean. The rooms were very nice and clean. Now the negatives. Each day the restaurant was out of something. Day 1-potatoes, any kind. Day 2-no cereal bowls or plates. Day 3-juice was watered down and all they had was bread slices. They were also out of oatmeal. Out of bacon before 0830 They offer shuttle service. Be prepared to wait and wait and wait. Sometimes up to 45 minutes. The bad outweighs the good and I doubt that I would ever return.

« Terrible hotel. Avoid this place »

This place has gone downhill. The rooms look nice but the staff is horrible. I plan to avoid this place at all costs. Breakfast was not ready. Check in lost our reservations. Random open trash bags that were full and unattended in the elevator. Cleaning crew did not "have time" to clean our room. We were overcharged and yet no manager or supervisor available. Another patron staying there just got done yelling at the staff for the same issue when it happened to us.

    « Clean and Friendly »

Upon arrival it is noticeable that the hotel has been remodeled of late, and it is nice. The lobby and king room that I stayed in were exceptional. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in every regard. When staying in the DC area, I would highly recommend this hotel for a business or family trip.

« Double Charged for Mediocre Accommodations »

I booked my trip through and pre-paid for the room 3 weeks before arrival. The room was OK, an average facility at best - but it was a place to sleep. Upon checkout the next morning, the desk clerk assured me that I would not be charged due to my reservation through Priceline. However, later that month I noticed on my credit card statement that I was charged by the hotel a second time, meaning that I paid for an overnight stay in a standard room TWICE. I called AviHotel/Best Western to point out the oversight. The desk clerk apologized for the error and assured me that a full refund was in my future. One day passed, 2 days, then 7 days passed - no refund. I called again and spoke with the manager. Same apology, same promise, same result -- no refund. I had to go through the dispute resolution process with my credit card company, and we all know how fun that can be! It's really a shame when you can't trust businesses not to over-charge consumers for providing a service.

    « Basketball Tournament »

This hotel is very nice for the price you pay. The rooms are very clean nicely decorated for a hotel. My son loved the pool and went twice during our weekend stay. Now on to the breakfast, it was perfect and so was the staff. Real bacon and eggs at a hotel people. You can't beat it. The dining area was large and clean and very well organized so that you're not on top of other guests. The breakfast staff is the best staff in the hotel and treated my family and I like we were at a five star restaurant. The rest of the front desk staff could use some customer service classes except for the new lady. She has only been there three weeks and was so professional and friendly. But overall my stay was great.

    « A few problems »

Our room was immaculate however the common areas were not clean. We went for breakfast and I had a hard time finding a clean table. The pool was heated to 72 degrees which for me is not heated. Some of the exercise equipment did not work. All of the staff were very friendly but unable to fix the situation. We moved to the Holiday Inn Express for the next two nights of our trip. However, they have a great restaurant and bar in the hotel which was a plus. A shuttle took us to the metro and picked us up so we were able to go sightseeing.

« Top notch hotel for a reasonable price »

The hotel staff were congenial but not overly friendly. The room was immaculate. The WIFI reached every area I tried to use it at and had plenty of bandwidth. The cable TV had a wide selection of HD choices. I am hard pressed to find a negative to mention in this review. Ah, housekeeping did knock on the door to clean the room an hour before checkout. I always find that annoying.

    « Nice Stay »

My family of five stayed here for four nights over spring break and it was all in all a good place to stay. We were there to explore D.C. so didn't spend much time in the hotel until late evening. Pros: it is close to the metro for easy access and they have a shuttle to take you over. Beds were very comfortable, and the refrigerator in the room was a plus. The most of the staff was nothing but super friendly and courteous all week asking many times how our stay was going and if they could do anything for us. Cons: It was hard to find since they are changing names and the sign says AVI Hotel and no where does it say Best Western, we drove around the block a few times before we found that the entrance was to the back. The "breakfast" was horrible, so if you plan on this in the budget as a meal don't. The staff in the breakfast room was not the most helpful or welcoming. Overall would I stay there again with my family, probably because the price is right for the budget.

    « Fantastic! »

We stayed here for the Shamrock Fest, great service, polite and knowledgeable staff! The hotel was clean and very nice looking, the restaurant was awesome and the staff very nice and helpful. I would give it more stars if I could!

    « Find another option! »

Staff are nice but poorly trained. Very comfortable bed, but the cleaning service is "hit or miss." No plan to fix TV cable, so prepare to look at half of the channels advertised. And, if you want good party, there is two a week to keep you awake until 1a.m.

    « First Impressions LAST!!! »

I must say that I was doubtful when this hotel was recommended to me and after reading the previous reviews. I typically stay with the Hilton chain where the amenities are superb. However, I was very pleased with my stay. Walking into the foyer, I was impressed with not only the décor but the service. Derrick (front desk check-in, Bernadette (kitchen staff), D Payne (front desk - night) and Glen (front desk - checkout) showcased great customer service by going above and beyond. My partner was also satisfied with the stay as well. There was one downside - the fire alarm went off at 3 am which scared me for a bit. I was told that this was due to elevator repairs. I have booked another stay for the upcoming week.

    « Blah, Blah, Blah.......Blah? »

The title says it all! ask a question or lodge a complaint at the front desk and that's the response you will get. My room has no towels, soap, or trash can....blah blah blah blah blah! There is a religious convention going on in your conference rooms and they keep evangelizing me every time I go outside to smoke can you tell them to leave me alone? Blah blah blah blah blah! This is why I try to stick to national brands, if I have a bad experience I call the main number and complain. The subpar customer service I received at this place is the reason small businesses are dying in this country

    « Cowboys Redskins game »

Arrived at hotel for 3pm check in to find a very long line and no rooms ready. After a long wait, was given a king room that reeked of cigarette smoke (reserved a double queen nonsmoking). I asked to be moved and was given a different room about 7pm. Still a long line in the lobby and housekeeping still cleaning rooms! At 2:30 am gentlemen tried to enter our hotel room. I was quite alarmed to realize they had a working key. 10 minutes later a girl from the front desk called and had no idea we had been moved to that room. After returning to our room after breakfast (disappointed), we could not get in our room because our key was deactivated. Our room was dirty (see photos). Will never stay at this hotel again. Most unprofessional staff I've ever seen!

« Worst Monday Night Football experience!! »

If I could give it zero stars I would. We had booked the room well in advance (3 months) as we had tickets to the Redskins-Cowboys game for MNF! Needless to say to our surprise 9 once we got there at 4pm even after we had been told that check is in 3pm, mind you after a 4 hour drive from deep down in North Carolina, not only is the hotel too packed to check in but our rooms literally where not even ready. What had happened is the hotel had overbooked and then allowed people to come in the previous Saturday and Sunday night and book rooms that should have been reserved and held for guest who had booked months ahead of time. We stood in a line literally 20 families deep (who had all reserved at least a month ahead) for over 3 and a half hours and were finally given a room which was a very nice room to be honest but it was very nice as we were the first to stay in the room since renovationa. It was almost as if the entire 2nd floor of hotel had just been tile, paint, beds everything...which I'm not complaining about it was nice but I did not expect it to be a mess anyways as it was advertised to be a clean nice looking hotel so I'm not going to sit here and say great job on cleanliness when that's part of the hotels job. The whole check in process ruined it for me. When a Monday night football game kicks off at 8:30 and my room has been reserved for 3 months in advance I do not expect to wait for 3 and a half hours to get my room and then rush to get prepared for the football game which starts and hour later. It was downright ridiculous, when we questioned what the issue was we were ignored and told to just wait we will get a room no resolution attempt made by manager on duty, no attempt to dissolve the chaos in the lobby, no reduction in rate, no free water or snacks while waiting, no attempt to reconcile the relationship between the hotel and the prebooked guest who were already turned off and disgruntled...nothing. I have never had this treatment at a hotel...I expected it to busy as its the best value in regards to price and location to FedEx field but I did not expect my room to have been rented to someone who had just walked in Sunday morning or Monday morning when I had booked 3 months in advance. I would not reccomend this hotel to anyone at all. If you are the type to just grab a hotel in the fly then go for it butnif you are like me and actually plan your trips out ahead of time then look elsewhere as the staff and management has no respect for your time as obviously their bottom dollar is more important. I will be posting this review to each and everywhere I can and will report to the BBB as well. I even attempted to email support staff after my stay for a follow up of my situation and got no response. Never again...never again! The hotel should be ashamed of this and they should not be using the FedEx Field name on their website as a pitch...I will be posting this to their website as well.
