"The Manager Rocks"
DiningDiva619, 24 Février 2018

Tuxtepec isn't exactly on the main tourist track, but it is a good jumping off point for the Chinantla region of Oaxaca and the coffee, textiles and vanilla it offers. This was my 3rd stay at this hotel and it was BY FAR the best. The rooms have always been pretty decent...large, clean and fairly comfortable. But the dining room and service had been lacking on previous visits. Not this time. The new Best Western ownership also brought in new management and the changes showed. Service and food in the restaurant have improved tremendously over previous visits and the Valentine's Day buffet was delicious and fun. The biggest change in service can only be attributed to Manual, the new manager. He was a visible presence in the hotel and quickly responded to requests and needs. He worked tirelessly to ensure his guests satisfaction with their stay. Best Western has a gem in Manual, he has certainly improved how this hotel operates.

"Comfortable spot"
aster7835, 07 Octobre 2017

We stayed here two nights on a birding trip and found it to be comfortable. Clean and quiet. We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. The tortilla soup was wonderful. They had a swimming pool which we did not use. I like that there were hairdryers in the room which is somewhat unusual in more rural towns.

"Nothing works"
DV568, 04 Août 2017

I've stayed several times in this hotel (due to non availability in the other hotels nearby) and every time I regret it. It doesn't matter if a big chain like Best Western has acquired it, it is the same old staff and mediocre service. WiFi at crawling speed, my door lock never worked (card exchanged for master keys 5 times and never worked... you do not give a master key to open all room doors to a guest), breakfast set up late and 10 minutes wait for the bill, 15 minutes check out for a single night stay and printer not working to issue a receipt. Not a true Best Western level of service. I do not recommend it. Fortunately there is a brand new hotel around the corner opening this year from a reputable local chain... finally a decent business hotel in Tuxtepec!

"Exceptional service"
TapestryCrochet, 24 Juillet 2017

The manager and staff went out of their way to make our group feel comfortable and welcome. The manager spent most of his time in the lobby area making sure that the needs of the guests were met. I've never met a more attentive hotel manager. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.

"Not worthy of being a Best Western"
TXTravel09, 13 Avril 2017

Where shall I start. One air conditioner in our 2 bedroom suite sounded like a motor boat engine, then it would stop until you turned it on again. I repeatedly asked for it to be fixed, and only after finding the manager was something done about it. There was no light bulb in the front room fixture, and even after one was put in it was pitifully dim in that room. One of the two tv's had no sound. The shower leaked out of the stall and the hot water was erratic. You are given two small water bottles each day, and this is not enough for teeth brushing and drinking. Could they not have a cooler with fresh water in the lobby as many hotels do? There were no extra blankets in the room. The towels are thin and old. Your options may be few in Tuxtepec, but this is not a good one.

"Bring tear gas"
Kevin H, 14 Mai 2016

If you intend to stay here for either work or pleasure be sure to bring so tear gas to tame the yobs who choose to stay here making a god awful noise as a bunch of drunken idiots when the management does absolutely nothing to stop the infringement on other guests with complete disregard for their comfort.

"Best Hotel in Tuxtepec"
R L, 25 Novembre 2015

Stayed at this hotel several times for minimum 1 week at a time. Hot water an issue some rooms have none and often only slightly warm never hot. Room rates are good around $40 U.S. Beds are thin and hard after several nights this gets old. Towels and sheets are well worn. No one at this hotel speaks English. Restaurant is just OK nothing special.

"OK for a night."

Basic Mexican "de luxe" hotel which shows early signs of aging at all levels. Rooms are OK and clean but basic and slippery showers! No alcohol stronger than beer , restaurant service and food very, very basic , not bad , but not good either. Mattresses are not very good, hard and noisy, and I am only talking sleeping!

"The nearest option to the main Plaza"
Bobsburgh, 11 Mars 2013

Rooms are good enough and rates are excellent. The best place in town, considering the type of city and the conflicts that people have to deal with everyday. Tuxtepec is known as one of the main places where people tend to block exits very often.

"Great travel stop..."
Bill P, 10 Mars 2013

We found the Gran Tuxtepec Plaza quite by accident after a very long travel day through the Sierra Madres in the state of Oaxaca. What a pleasant surprise. Just one block off the main drag and very close to a large mall. The rooms in this modern hotel were spacious, very clean with comfortable beds and very hot showers. Gated and guarded parking behind the hotel and a very nice swimming pool and workout room made this hotel a great place to stay. Although the restaurant had a limited menu, the food was good as was the service.
