    « Such a beautiful place. »

I cant say anything bad about this hotel. Its in an amazing area, within walking distance to everything. I highly recommend the Macaroon store just next door and the Kebab in a Box shop just up the road. Staff were wonderful and helpful, room was cleaned perfectly while we were there. The bath tub we had in our room was massive so was a plus. Very affordable and very well run.

« In the heart of Strasbourg »

The hotel is really good especially if you booked the deluxe room, which I really recommend. I booked 2 rooms one of then was the deluxe and I felt the difference. Pros: - Location is the best thing here, in the heart of Strasbourg. - WiFi connection is really good and fast. - The hotel provide car parking if your car is 1.5 meter height, otherwise ?Parking Indigo? 1 minute walk from the hotel. Very expensive 45€ per day but the hotel offer a discount to be 18€ per day. This is much appropriated from the hotel. - The hotel provide 10% discount for ferry tour, don't forget to get from the reception. Cons: Nothing at all.

    « Charming but oldfashioned »

This hotel feels like going back 30 years in time. The room was pretty oldfashioned and the setup was weird. Bathroom was modern and nice though! The personnel in the reception was very friendly. Overall a good note for its oldfashioned charm and the perfect location in Strasbourg. Somehow I will remember this place, it has personality!

« nice hotel, good location »

hotel directly in the center. everything accessible in walking distance, close to petite France. parking a bit difficult, as hotel is in a closed street. but the staff is friendly and will help you breakfast is nice good choice

« Beautiful centrally located hotel »

This is my third stay at this hotel and I would highly recommend it. Staff are friendly and very helpful, hotel is ideally located with parking although the hotel also does a discount at indigo parking for the same price this is located 1 minute walk away from the hotel. The rooms are clean and welcoming with window shutters for a good nights sleep. Complimentary hot drinks and pastries are available in reception. The shops restaurants and bars are located very close by definitely worth a visit.

« A wonderful hotel with friendly staff »

We came for a weekend and it was delightful. The room was spacious, cosy and clean - although if anything it was a bit hot but that's better than the alternative. The breakfast was good. Most importantly the hotel is in a fantastic location and the whole city is within easy reach. If I return to Strasbourg I'd be happy to stay here again.

    « Tick of approval »

A great hotel in a fantastic part of the city. Location wise this hotel is brilliant, right in the middle of town and only a short walk to all the hotspots. Plenty of restaurants and shops on its doorstep. The hotel itself was just what we were after, cosy, warm and homely. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. Parking at the hotel was available but it was a small garage that only allows small cars, alternatively there is a bigger parking garage only 100m away. The room was comfortable and shower was great. We went for a standard room which was small but expected. Breakfast at the hotel was delicious and fresh with the usual options. The hotel is great if you have to work, plenty of space downstairs, easy to find a quiet corner to concentrate. I would stay here again.

« Excellent place to stay when visiting the Christmas market »

What a lovely, cozy atmosphere for visiting the Christmas Markets. Lots of nice touches. Free coffee and mulled wine in the living room and a gift when arriving. Clean, comfortable room and helpful friendly staff. Great location for all the markets and festivities.

« Fine if you are not Looking for the Middle of the Road »

Stayed here while my husband and I visited the Christkindelsmarik. We book rather late so there were no other hotels in the area available. While the people were friendly enough the hotel itself was old and tired. The beds and pillows were clean and comfortable, but the room had an awful, musty smell that made the stay unpleasant. It was way over priced due to the season, but if you are not looking for frills then this is fine, but I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

« Great location for visiting the Christmas markets »

This is a comfortable hotel well located within easy walking distance of the railway station and Christmas markets. The staff are friendly, helpful and most speak English. As mentioned in some other reviews there is a Nespresso machine located in reception providing complimentary coffee, there is also a complimentary glass of local Alsace wine and slice of Kougelhopf offered in the bar during "happy hour" from 6pm. Wifi works well throughout the hotel. Breakfast is good, continental @ €7 full @ €14 Rooms at the front of the hotel suffer a lot of noise pollution from about 6:00am.

« Quite a pleasant stay, perfect location »

Wonderful hotel located in the Old Town of Strasbourg. Be warned that if you are staying during the Christmas Markets that the area is closed to vehicular traffic and you will have to park quite a distance away. WIth that said, the hotel was decorated quite nicely for the christmas season and provided nice little touches such as a gift upon arrival and christmas soap in the bathroom. The hotel was clean and the WiFi worked quite well....its walking distance to all the Christmas markets and other sites in Strasbourg. The staff was very friendly and provided good information and a map of all the markets. There is an on-site parking facility but only holds 6 very small cars. Make sure to contact beforehand to arrange parking if needed.

    « Absolutely Loved Hotel De L'Europe »

I booked this Hotel not only from the reviews but for the charm of the Half Timbered Building. On our arrival we were early so understandably our room was not ready, the Staff were really friendly and welcoming, to our surprise we were given an upgrade, our suite was very spacious and beautifully presented with lots of timber and just a lovely space, it was located on the first floor a corner room which allowed us to view not only the street below but also to the side, we were very greatful for our upgrade. The location was ideal in Petite France area easy walking distance of all you want to see. At 6pm they have what they call Happy Time where you are given a wine and on the night we were their a slice of cake particular to the area, very enjoyable. Take time to explore the staircase from the first floor upwards very old worldly just beautiful, it was a pleasure to call this Hotel home for two nights, highly recommended.

    « Friendly staff & great location »

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Greated you with a warm welcome after returning from a day of site seeing. Great location for walking the historical areas of Strasbourg. Would stay there again if I returned to Stasbourg.

    « Beautiful hotel »

Not much to look at outside but this old building with half timber is gorgeous inside! We were very surprised when we got to our room and saw how beautiful it was and spacious with our upgrade. We even loved the creaky floors and the decor around the halls was well done. The staff was awesome as we came in after midnight and even accommodated us with parking out front of the hotel during our stay. The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Strasbourg close to our favorite creperie and of course the Apple Store not far from there and Cathedral. The tram line is close as well.

« Great location and service »

On arrival we were checked into the tiniest room ever on the third floor. We asked for a bigger room and we were given a delightful room in the old part of the hotel on the top floor at the same rate. Fabulous service. All the staff were utterly charming and the location couldn't be better. We had breakfast in 3 different local cafés, all lovely. I would definitely stay here again.

    « Everything Was Magnificent! »

I loved this hotel and everyone who works there! I was made to feel welcome even before I arrived...(thanks M.C.!) The location is ideal as I parked my car and kept it parked for my entire stay. The hotel has great character, an awesome breakfast area that is maintained to the desires of each guest, and excellent ambience right down to the exposed wood support beams throughout the hotel. Oh! And Strasbourg ain't bad either. Kidding aside, this was an extremely satisfying and pleasurable visit to one of the nicest parts of France I've had the fortune of seeing. Keep it up guys! Hope to see you again in the near future!

    « Location location »

This is a great hotel with really helpful cheerful staff. The front desk staff were really useful with tips of what to do. The location is amazing right in Petite France within a 30 second walk of the canals & bars and restaurants. In the evening they have a happy hour where you can sample complementary Alsace wine & cake/bread. Very welcome after our long drive. If you have reserved parking the hotel is in a pedestrian zone so be sure to look out for the post with the buzzer on it or you'll drive around in circles! The hotel is full of character with lots of the original architecture still retained in the building. A lovely breakfast was included in our room rate which sets you up for the day. We had a great stay here

« Right in the middle of Strasbourg »

The best part of this hotel is its location - ten minutes from the main train station and within walking distances from all the major attractions. Its a little noisy in the early evening as the street below is full of restaurants. The room is OK not very modern but the bathroom have been refurbished recently. No problem with facilities in the room apart from some noise from the ceiling - only minimal - not a major concern.

    « Location ! Location ! »

Even with a cane everything was within walking distance. Hotel and staff were delightfull. Will definitely stay there again given the chance. The breakfast selection was far more generous in selection with a wide variety of fresh items. Include a tour on the canals and walk along the same waterways where possible to fully appreciate the two views.

« Good location, but difficult to find »

This hotel is located in a pedestrian zone, so Map Quest GPS will take you in circles and you will never find it! We finally called the hotel and this very nice and very patient lady talked us to the hotel over 10-12 minutes. You have to turn southwest off of Rue du Vingt-Deux Novembre onto Rue du Fosse-des-Tanneurs and stop at the steel pipe bollards protecting the pedestrian zone. Then call the hotel and they will lower the bollards so you can drive to the entrance and unload your luggage. After unloading, paid parking is available at Indigo parking garage back up the Rue du Fosse-des-Tanneurs (two blocks). We stayed in room 405 which was large enough, but dark, even with the lights on. The bath room was enormous! WIFI was off-and-on, except in the lobby. We had a beer in the bar near the lobby. The staff was very helpful, but at night speaking in English was sometime daunting for them. I tried German, and it worked sometimes. The hotel is in a great location for walking to la Petite France (canals and lots of restaurants) and the Cathedral. We ate breakfast at the hotel one day and it was the worst breakfast I have ever had in Europe, especially the coffee. I suggest that you walk toward the parking garage to the next corner and eat a pastry with coffee at the KRN Boucher-Charcuterie. Yes, I know they sell meat, but they also have breakfast that is tasty and reasonably priced. We ate some delicious hamburgers right across the street at Stueck Burger.

« Someone Walked Into Our Hotel Room »

We were watching TV at night in the hotel room and a family that had just checked into the hotel were able to use their keycard to enter our room!! We immediately went to the concierge to fix the issue and apparently our room was still showing that it was vacant. The guy working the night shift didn't really know what he was doing. So the next morning, we asked to see the manager. Of course she was very apologetic and didn't understand why that happened. She checked the computer and it was now showing that our room was occupied. She said that if the deadbolt in the room is used, that you're unable to open the door from the outside with a keycard. We went back to the room to test out her claim. It was completely untrue because we were able to open the door with a keycard from the outside even then the door was bolted on the inside! Management really needs to check this out. Don't stay in Room 404. That's the reason why I ranked "Hotel Facilities and Condition" with a low score. The location of the hotel, otherwise, was fantastic.

« Perfect location and great staff »

The location was impecable. After walking the whole old city, we decided that we could have not get a better place. Luckily we got a huge room for the price of the small one, booking the same day after 5PM. They even have parking 1/2 price the regular rate! ...the best part??? Air Conditioning!!!! that was a huge bonus in August! Also for canceling noises from the street.

« Very central location & friendly staff »

We only stayed for a night in Strasbourg & chose this hotel because of it's central location. It is located inside the historic city center so it really doesn't get better. It does mean that in case you are driving in, you have to navigate through some of the narrower streets in the city to get in. The hotel does have a private parking garage and in case that fills up has a deal with another garage which is only 100m away. However if driving in here, please be aware that given the location inside the center the overnight parking is fairly steep (€20-25). The rooms in the hotel are very comfortable, and we got a good night's sleep. I would like to mention that the staff are very friendly. We had trouble getting to the hotel on the night we stayed as there was a market in the center blocking the roads. The staff were quite helpful with the situation. What was good to note (for us non French speakers) was that the staff speaks English well & were easily reachable on the phone whenever we tried.

« Gracious Staff Made My Stay »

I fell in love with Strasbourg over the weekend and I enjoyed my stay at the Best Western Hotel De L'Europe - mostly. I will say that usually, this hotel is "suitcase dragging distance" from the Strasbourg central train station. When I arrived, the entire central island was blocked off for a market and it was a hot and tedious journey to get to the hotel (no fault of the hotel). It truly is well located. The thing about my stay that really stood out for me about this hotel were the staff - every single staff member was gracious and kind and willing to lend advice or directions. Everyone working here was so pleasant from the check-in experience to the breakfast experience...just delightful, kind, hospitable people - THESE are the people you want at the front desk of your hotel (pay attention, competitors). The property itself did not "wow" me. I was in a room on the third floor. The carpet seemed to have been somehow damaged in the dim hallways and common areas are not particularly inviting. The flooring of the dark, gloomy elevator is not the best first impression. The room itself was fine...clean, reasonably appointed. I go for clean, comfortable and convenient and this hotel fit that description. The flooring of the rooms is hard and I was awakened each night by the people above me walking around at a late hour. The WiFi - was so-so - and it was included so no complaint. The breakfast is very nice - a good selection of breads, cheeses, eggs, fruit, yogurt and cereal. I enjoyed my coffee each morning. Again, the attendants were amazingly gracious. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants, cafes, sights to see and shops to shop. And I think it is a good value for the cost. It does, indeed, meet the three "C" criteria: clean, comfortable, convenient - and add in a fourth - at a good Cost. I would stay here again.

    « Good location. That's all. »

Counting with an excellent location (a few steps from Petit France, a short walk from the cathedral, 700m from train station), it's easy to reach the main attractions of the city. However, the room decoration is outdated and it presented signals of very bad maintenance. I felt like in a hotel room from 1980's maintained up to early 2000's. The bed was sunk in middle, a light bulb was burnt, and some other smaller things. Don't count with WiFi - the coverage is poor and it keeps appearing and disappearing. Finally, the place is very noisy sometimes, specially early in the morning.

    « WElcoming and comfortable »

The hotel was clean and inexpensive as Strasbourg goes. It was central, quiet and comfortable. The staff were very approachable and warm and friendly and on arriving home in the evenings one would be greeted with a smile.

« Exactly what we needed - a nice room to sleep and explore! »

I thought this hotel was a great find. The price was excellent, a quick 10 minute jaunt from the train station and I literally had no idea just how close we were to Petit Venice until we had walked from the other direction and popped out to see our hotel! Super cute and the lady at the front told us it was built in the 1400's so yes, rooms are small but I had booked a basic room and thought the size was fine considering.. The bathroom was actually very spacious! We took part in their happy hour which was a lovely addition and it's nice that they have coffee offered throughout the day. We only stayed one night but I thought it was a great choice for the price and getting to view the city on foot.

« Historic hotel with exceptional service. »

The hotel is located in the heart of Strasbourg and is walking distance from the train station. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The hotel was originally built in the 1600s so oozes character and charm. The rooms have been fitted with the modern day fixtures so the rooms are very functional. Highly recommend this hotel. Room including bathroom was clean. The bed was very comfortable.

    « Deceptive hotel photos »

We have seen some small hotel rooms (travelled 31 countries), but this hotel has the new category for the TINNIEST room. We are not big people. My wife is 130 & I am 160 pounds. If you are a big person, stay away from this hotel. The bathroom toilet between the two walls are 6" & 8" (I have seen a traditional Japanese inn in Kyoto, Japan bigger than this dimension). If you are stuck between the toilet walls, forget about the reception office to rescue or respond to you. We visited the hotel in the middle of October & the temperature was in the low 50's. So we asked the receptionist to show us to operate the temperature gage (which was inoperable). We called the desk four times between 7-10pm, and no response. Her answer was that they will send up a repair person in 20 minutes. They could have been honest with us from the beginning that their master control in the office is turned off for the entire hotel, but they refused to acknowledge it. We have no clue how this hotel was recommended by TripAdvisor. The usual comments from the reviewers were location of this hotel, but Strasbourg is a small town that you can navigate from any direction, and the moderate price shouldn't be the factor for the your selection of this hotel.

« Nice hotel for one night. »

Very good location with easy access to train station. Clean but very small room. Good bathroom and shower. Easy walking distance to Petit France and the Cathedral. Breakfast was more on continental side but adequate. Can find better room prices going to their direct website. Overall a nice one night stay.

« Great locale, friendly staff, comfortable rooms »

The staff takes the cake. Every single person very friendly and helpful. Charming place conveniently located. We walked from the train station and then everywhere else. Don't miss the boat ride around the city. We had a 4th floor room which was not terribly convenient for my 6'6" boyfriend but we made it work. Surely, they would have changed us but we did not ask. Great breakfast buffet. Well appointed rooms in historic building. Can't give this place enough fabulous reviews - it really was so very enjoyable.

« good location, rough around the edges »

This is an attractive hotel in a good location. Our room was huge, massive by European standards, and the bed was extremely comfortable. While there is a lot of attention to decor, there is not nearly enough on maintenance. We had issues with the AC, plumbing and lights in the room, tub, and with the front door of the hotel itself. One other down side is a lot of street noise in this lively part of the old city center. Staff was helpful, breakfast was great but a bit crowded. I would stay here again but just a little more upkeep would make this hotel truly excellent.

« Very nice hotel centrally located »

The hotel ist very close to the "Petit France" district and actually close to everything, right in the center. Staff was nice and helpful Rooms where nicely decorated, comfy bed. Did not have breakfast, so cannot say anything about that. Great is that kids stay for free if they don't need a extra bed. Only 2 negative points: Wifi is terrible and if connection is there it is excruciatingly slow (so that's where the rating went from 5 to 4). Secondly parking is 18 EUR per day! Ok given the fact that in a nearby parking garage it is 44 EUR per day it could be considered a bargain.

« Nice hotel in old town »

Nice historic hotel in the old city centre, staff is very helpfull, hotels has only parking for 6 cars, but you can park in parking Tanneurs or KLeber and you pay only 18 euro per 24 hours ( prices 2017). Rooms are small but fully equipped its a mix of modern and old style. Coffee is for free at the entance of the hotel and every evening there is happy culture hour you receive for free a glass of wine and a sandwich of slice of cake. Breakfast is very good eveuthing you want is available.

« nice hotel in the city centre »

The location is great, just a few steps from Petite France, and a short walk to the Place Kleber and the Cathedral. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel may need a little updating - our air conditioning did not work (heard from two other guests - one it worked, the other had the same issue) and a light was out in the bathroom. These were minor issues though. My biggest complaint is not with the hotel or staff, but just that the area is very noisy at night. Trash is collected across the street at 6AM, and tourists in the area stay up fairly late. I suspect there are not quiet areas anywhere in the centre, but would want to let others know it can get a bit noisy here. Otherwise, very much enjoyed the hotel.

« charming hotel in the middle of Straßburg »

The house is very old and you can feel the spirit of the older days, but is comfortable for guests. It is in the middle of Grand Rue and you can easily walk to the sights and to the shopping streets. The staff has been very helpful and they have a small parking, which was as expensive as the parking next door. The room was clean as well as the bathroom. Free wifi. They offer a Happy Hour with a glass of good wine and a guglhopf. The value for money was really good I think.

« Best staff and service EVER! And I travel a lot! »

The hotel is charming, well situated, lovely breakfast, SUPERB front office staff: Marie Christine, Marc, Agathe, omigosh I forgot her name ... Helene? Front Office Manager? Made the stay just wonderful. They absolutely went out of their way to help me when I stupidly let my battery run down in the car (parked at Tanneur) and came to my rescue when ____ Car Rental failed to., I know I am omitting the evening clerk and also the morning young lady who retrieved the jumper cables for me. All in all, they are ALL to be commended. OH, YES! Mouz (sp?) who was the champion in resuscitating dead batteries!! The owners need to bonus them all! Splendid employees! Thanks again so much!!

« Nothing to not love about this hotel »

The hotel has a very quaint and cottage-feel to it, especially in the corridors. I loved it. Once you enter the room, it's modern furnishing. Best of both worlds! Given that the location is prime, the room wasn't too big but layout was good and you don't feel squeezed in. The bed was comfortable and the room cozy. Breakfast was not included but it was good, there is a choice of either a full breakfast or just continental. The hotel is walkable to many places of interest, such as Place Gutenberg and La Petite France, Notre Dame Cathedral and Place Kleber. The staff are friendly and helpful as well, and there is a glass of wine on the house which you can use from 6-8pm. I stayed here prior to Christmas in Dec 2016, so it was within proximity of many Christmas markets! Awesome. I would definitely stay here again

    « Great Hotel »

I was welcomed with a receptionist who wore a great smile even if I arrived late in the hotel and the lobby had a very good odor. The location was perfect for touring around Strasbourg. You have no idea where and how to roam around? The staff are more than delighted to lend a hand. The room is well-attended by the cleaner though there is no toothpaste in the grooming kit, no slippers too in the hotel. No shuttle from the train station to the hotel and vice versa though they can book a taxi for you. Still a great hotel to stay in.

    « Great stay! »

We stayed here for 1 night in December and were thoroughly impressed. I have never stayed in a Best Western before and was not particularly looking forward to it. This stay has definitely changed my view of the chain and I will happily book another hotel at some point! Check in was really quick, the room was an adequate size and the shower was amazing! The hotel is in a perfect location and has a nice bar and for the price it is great value. The only negative for me is that the breakfast is quite expensive for what it is. I would save my money and go to one of the local cafes for a cheaper and tastier breakfast.

« Comfortable and well located »

This hotel is very well located for a visit in Strasbourg. My room was very comfortable. The staff was helpful. The breakfast was good. If included in the room, it's ok, but I would not pay for it. I would stay there again.

« Lovely and great value »

Drove to Strasbourg for one night (UNFORTUNATELY). Had issues in finding a parking lot where it was Xmas times and most booked or closed even roads. Didn't know how to park in front of hotel so had to park across before the river and drag the bags while walking for about 9 mins, (didn't like that) but instructions to park weren't mentioned. That's a mark down.. Anyways, hotel location was pretty good in center. Staff were EXTREMELY helpful and friendly (LOVED THEM). Room size was great and comfy, hotel was cozy. Bathroom is ok but can be better. Wifi service is something AWESOME. there was a discount for Xmas and even wasn't charged for it! Price is great and bed is SO COMFY Do recommend the place but need more info in advance in regards to parking.

    « vacation »

First, I want to thank Agathé & Marie-Christine for making us feel so at home. They are a great asset to your hotel. The free cocktail at the end of a busy day was very relaxing & a good idea. Location was VG. Our room & bathroom were large & clean. Beds very comfortable. Double windows. Only complaiont: the lighting in bedroom was almost non-existant.

    « My Go-To Place in Strasbourg! »

I can not say enough about this wonderful hotel! It was sheer luck that I chose this hotel for my stay in Strasbourg and now I won't stay anywhere else when I return again and again. You can not find a better location. The restaurants are literally "across the street" , the river a stroll away, the cathedral and Saturday Flohmarket 5 minutes away! I love that the rooms are all different. I LOVE that the hotel is in "parade row" so I have a birds eye view. If you have difficulty sleeping with city sounds then you might request a inside room. The staff are exceptionally helpful and down-right-hilarious. They aim to please!

    « Wonderful experience »

Can not say enough nice things about the staff and rooms here. We arrived early in the day and were able to walk from the train station. They took care of our luggage and were very helpful with recommending things to do and places to eat. We loved that it is so centrally located and we could walk everywhere. One might when we were so tired they allowed us to use the lounge for our own wine and cheese dinner for the 6 of us. It was so relaxing. Rooms are nice and has a very historic atmosphere. Thanks for a great place to stay.

    « Fantastic location »

As everyone mentioned the location is great but this can be a bad thing on the weekends since it can get loud. The rooms vary in sizes and temperatures, mine was a bit cold but my friend's was very hot. Changing the heating settings does not affect it much. The breakfast is very good buy choices are limited. Overall I had a great time and i would stay here again.

    « 4 star service, 2.5 star hotel »

Great location and great service, but that's about it. Our room was dated with a sort of mediocre update. We could barely walk around both sides of the bed. We had high hopes for this hotel, but for the price you can't really beat it. The decor and rooms are three star, but the price was awesome. If you want a place to hang your hat while you visit Petitie France, this is perfect. If you're looking for a quaint hotel to relax in and reflect the beauty of Petitie France, look elsewhere.

« Great hotel in the centre of the city »

A comfortable hotel in le Petit France quarter of old Strasbourg. The hotel combines charm (due to the buildings in which it is located) with modern comfort. Our room was spacious with all the amenities one needs. Staff went out of their way to be helpful. Breakfast was excellent.

« Always our favorite when in Strssbourg! »

What a charming hotel: great location -close to petit France and the cathedral area- updated but with lots of antiques, great breakfast, functioning wifi, a garage and superfriendly staff. What else do you need? Our room was super small but very well designed so it was just fine for our short trip. Looking forward to a next trip already:)

« Surprised me in a good way »

Yes, I admit that I am someone who stays away from Best Westerns because I want someplace with more character. This hotel showed me I should have a more opened mind when booking. Great common areas with real character, fantastic staff that was super nice and helpful, and the room was comfortable with good beds.

    « Met our needs »

Depending on what you're planning to do in Strasourg, this hotel might not fit the bill or it can fit your need just as it did for us. We did just an overnight stay and wanted to visit the old town. The location is perfect- right in old town, by foot just minutes away from the cathedral, restaurants, shopping and Petit France. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful with their recommendations. If traveling by car when they say their garage is small, they mean it. We were able to park our small Peugeot and leave it in the garage for the duration. Other guests with larger cars were parked in a different location- though I don't think it really matters because everything is accessible on foot. The rooms are varied in size and ours was small which we expected. They have some nice, larger rooms that I saw. The bed however was not good. Hard and very noisy. One large negative I did't appreciate was that housekeeping came into our room when we ran an errand before checking out. Our bags were packed with a few purchases lying on the bed out in the open. I've never experienced a maid in my room before I could check out. I didn't appreciate that.

    « Very Central »

A very good quality hotel right in the centre of Strasbourg just 3 minutes (slow walk!) from Petite France and a host of bars and restaurants. It is about 5-10 minutes walk from the Cathedral. The hotel is of the quality of a 4 star Best Western. The room we had was small but well furnished and spotlessly clean. All the staff we met very very pleasant, friendly and efficient. Two nice touches that impressed 1) Tea/coffee making facilities in the room - a rarity in France, and 2) A free glass of Alsation wine for every guest each evening between 1800- 2000 hrs. Well done!

    « Excellent service »

The service and the attitude of all the staff I encoutered during my 1-night stay was very good. Not only were they polite but you could see that they liked their job and wanted to give the customer a good experience. Offering a glass of Riesling to guests in the afternoon was very nice - and the wine was excellent too! If going back to Strasbourg I have no reason to look for any other hotel.

« Great part of Strasbourg »

The perfect part of Strasbourg to stay near Petite France. The hotel is extremely old and has retained its past history and elegance. We had a few issues with the hotel but would still recommend to stay. It isn't easy to get to if have a car. Sometimes the staff can be hit and miss but I think that can be more of a language issue. We did however have to chase up things now and again. But in saying that we were very happy with the location, just love Strasbourg.

« Convenient location, relaxing environment and extremely helpful staff »

This is our second stay in this hotel and again it was a very pleasant experience. Position is good within walking distance of train station, tram stops, cathedral and old centre of Strasbourg. Staff are very helpful with advice on restaurants and bookings, breakfast is great plus the "happy hour" with samples of local wines and cake was lovely.

    « Wonderful situation »

Good comfortable room in a hotel right in the centre of this beautiful city. Helpful staff. A little bit challenging to gain access to the pedestrian area in which the hotel is located but I would certainly stay here again.

« Petit France with Grande Service! »

This was part of my birthday surprise weekend in Alsace and happily my girlfriend chose this hotel close to the old part of Strasbourg "Petit France!" It was an excellent location, but the part which excelled was the service provided, by all the staff and straight from the heart! Rooms were basic, very clean, breakfast was very fresh with of course attentive service. We visited local towns, did boat trips and enjoyed some great cuisine, beer and superb culture, but this was made more special from an excellent hotel stay!!!

« Another great BW experience. »

We just repeating ourselves when writing about the BW experience. This one has the perfect location, great staff, spacious rooms in a old Straatsburg house. The beds are good, room is clean and we had a good laugh with the staff as well. In the afternoon they serve a Happy time drink and cake. And they recommended a nice restaurant around the corned...yes we like! The indoor parking is next to the hotel. Be sure you can park:-)

« Excellent Stay with Outstanding Hospitality »

Our family (with older teens) had a chance to stay at this lovely property in Strasbourg. The hotel is ideally located in the quaint "no-car" pedestrian zone and within easy walking distance to most major sites in Strasbourg and is adjacent to one of the main shopping streets in town. We opted for two standard rooms to accommodate our group of four. The rooms are small but very comfortable and very modern in the appointments. Our rooms seemed very newly renovated and updated with a host of innovative energy saving devices. The rooms were clean and were kept so by very friendly and attentive housekeeping staff. Marie (I hope I got her name correct) who was on duty every evening and staffed the "Happy Time" event was by far the most gracious host we experienced in our travels in France. She really made us feel at home. The bathroom was spacious and included a shower/tub and large sink area. Plenty of towels and bath amenities were supplied. This property has a full bar with daily "Happy Time" each evening with regional food snacks and complimentary wine. There is decent sized restaurant onsite for breakfast. Our room included breakfast and we found a well appointed buffet, as well as things that could be cooked upon request. The buffet had some variety each day and some special selections for small children.

« Great location near Petit France »

The Best Western L'Europe Hotel is a quick walk from the Strasbourg train station which was very convenient for us, as well as being close to the Petit France area. Our room number 123 was on the small side (95 euro per night), but very clean and served it's purpose as we were not in our room that much. I nice touch was the happy hour from 18:00 - 20:00 where you could enjoy a glass of wine & a snack with your fellow travellers. The staff were extremely friendly and willing to tell you what sites to see & recommend restaurants in the area. If we come back to Strasbourg, we will surely stay here again.

« Good location and helpful personnel »

The hotel is very central and is located near the place called "Petit France". A beautiful place to be. Most touristic attractions in Strasbourg are easily accesible from the hotel. A car is not required in Strasbourg. The personnel is very helpful and welcome you with pleasure. Many restaurants near the hotel is also highly valuable.

« Great Hotel but a bit nosiy »

I liked this hotel a lot - the friendly, welcoming staff were very helpful in advising what to do and where to go in Strasbourg, offering to book restaurants, etc.The room was clean, the WIFI was free, and the air conditioning worked well (which was great - it was very hot when we were there!). The main problem is that the room was very noisy with people outside shouting at night - they need better windows!

« Good location, friendly service »

Strategically located between Strasbourg train station and Strasbourg Cathedral, this hotel is ideal for a visit to Strasbourg. It is just a stone throw away from the picturesque Le Petit France. Hotel accommodative of our specific needs. The staff are friendly, spontaneous, attentive and knowledgeable.

« Convenient central location- friendly , helpful staff. »

We stayed in June. The location is excellent- we could walk to all the places we wanted to see in central Stasbourg, which is a lovely city. Finding the hotel was a little tricky by car , but the hotel had sent us good instructions. The parking was nearby - a member of staff parked the car for us in the hotel car park ( charged extra per night, but reasonable charge for city centre parking). The double room was very small- but the space was well organised and spotlessly clean, with a small bathroom with a good shower. I did peek through a few doors of other rooms when they were be g cleaned, and there were bigger rooms available. But ours was entirely adequate for our stay as we really only used the room to sleep in- too much sightseeing to stay in the room! Breakfast was buffet style- ours was included in our rate ( we had booked directly with the hotel). Breakfast was good- fruit/ yoghurt/ pastries etc. But there are local cafes if you prefer, and a supermarket nearby. In the early evening, the hotel serves a complimentary glass of Alsace wine and a slice of local cake which was a nice touch. The hotel manager and her staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful . They suggested restaurants and made reservations on both nights that we stayed. We loved our stay at this hotel and would not hesitate to return to this hotel. (The only thing that I might consider would be to book a bigger room next time.)

    « Excellent »

The hotel accommodation was brilliant, we had a delux room. The staff were warm and friendly and explained everything to us on arrival like breakfast and times of meals. Nothing was too much for them. We could not get our air con to work within 5 minutes the gentleman came up and showed us how it worked, we were very impressed, the room was large had a massive bed and a sofa was very clean, I would reccomend this hotel.

« No quality at all »

Good location to name the one positive item first. Cramped room with small double bed. Minimal bathroom, no bathtub, not enough towels. Curtains are not meant to keep the light out. Whole building creaks and looks tired and under-funded. Own parking is very small and a dangerously steep one down the road will cost Euro 18 a day after discount. Personnel are nice, as they should be, but nothing special. To wrap up: backpacker-plus quality and never in my life four star.

« Good Value in Strasbourg »

The BW Hotel De L'Europe is a good value in Strasbourg for a short stay. its adjacent to La Petite France the towns best area for roaming around. We had the Deluxe room and it was spacious for France. A bit Dark but for one or two nights fit the bill. Staff was very friendly, We returned unplanned at end of trip and they were booked but sent us around the corner to another BW that was just fine for a one night stay.

« Best location in the middle of beautiful Petite France »

Perfect location in the middle of la Petite France. All near around by foot such as good restaurants, pretty local shop, tram etc. We stay at family room with bunker bed for our two little boys. Room itself is fine, not fancy but face to street is quite noisy until 2-3am. It is very nice to have elevator for carrying up the luggage. WiFi is very weak and slow. Staff are very helpful and kind. Breakfast buffet is nice. Parking lot is really limited. Tried to reserve the parking lot but first come first taken. Very next has public parking lot but it is tough to drive in and park due to very tight space.

« Need to note that private parking on site is VERY limited »

Central location with easy access to Petite France. Took a boat trip which was excellent. Parking is actually in a public multi storey down the road. Only available spaces were on the 8th floor and the lift was out of order! . The receptionist was really friendly and helpful but on one of the nights we were there, four people were having a 'private party' in the bar so we had to go to reception to ask for a drink - not something you would expect from a brand such as Best Western. Strasbourg itself is lovely and lived up to all my expectations.

    « Friendly and charming »

I've had the pleasure of staying here two times so far, and hope to stay here next time I'm in Strasbourg. The hotel is situated on the Grand Rue, just a stone's throw from the river, and less than 10 minutes' leisurely walk from Place Gutenberg and the Cathedral. The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Arts and the Train station are less than a 10 minutes' walk in the opposite direction ? and you can walk to the Council of Europe or the European Parliament in approximately 10 minutes. The building and the rooms are very charming and have a lot of character. Rooms are comfortable and are equipped with everything you need ? the only thing I missed, was a minibar. Having said that, there's a convenience store and a supermarket in the immediate vicinity. The free wifi was somewhat erratic, and kept falling out. The key cards were also a bit on and off; I often had to try a few times before anything happened. Breakfast is expensive, but there are bakeries etc. close by. You can have a free aperitif in the bar every night between 6 and 8 PM. Staff are very welcoming, warm and friendly ? they genuinely care about your individual experience as a guest ? this makes your stay a lot more enjoyable; and makes you feel accepted and welcomed as an individual person. My French colleagues tell me that they prefer this hotel when staying in Strasbourg, and it's easy to see why. Staying here comes at a price, though; it's not particularly cheap.

« Great value for clean, centrally located hotel »

We booked two rooms for one night. Both rooms were big and had HUGE bathrooms. I was really happy to see the coffee maker in the room. The rooms are by no means luxury, but they were comfortable and clean. The hotel is in the most central part of Strasbourg. Within ten minutes walk to most of the main attractions. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. If you drive, email ahead of time to request a parking space. the cost was 17 Euro/night for parking. Larger cars might have a hard time, as the garage is very compact. We would absolutely stay here again.

    « Strasbourgh center hotel »

The BW de L'Europe is a great place to stay. Friendly staff, very nice rooms, and great location in Strasbourgh. One small issue the TV did not have any English stations, which BW Hotel de France had.

« Raised my perception of Best Western! »

When booking a room in Strasbourg, my husband initially objected when I told him I was booking a Best Western as in the US, the quality is different than it is here. In Europe, I have found the chain to be a step up from the average US property (and to be fair, it has been a while since I stayed in one in the US). In any case, he was pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious by Europe standards and clean with a comfortable bed and reading lights. The floor was not carpeted, which is important to us. A little noise from late night revellers one night but very minor (I am a very light sleeper). The hotel is very conveniently located. A quick walk from the train station with some good restaurants nearby and also easy to get to the cathedral and museums by foot.. The staff was exceptional, especially Marc (who was born on the same street the hotel was on). The staff offered great restaurant suggestions and managed to get a reservation for us when we were turned away one evening from Chez Yvonne. Quaint happy hour with local wine and snack. We did not try the breakfast (if there was one.) I felt that our room rate was fair. We would stay again.

« Perfect Location and Great Staff! »

Really a great surprise; Hotel is proper at middle of Le Petite France; walk distance from any nice place to see and visit in Strasbourg. Great staff very supportative and ready to fulfill your needs. Good Breakfast and Parking location. Rooms are renovated and charming! No minibar at room and Internet service very slow and weak. Free Nespresso coffees and Happy hour with Wine and Local Cake speciality. All in all great experience. For sure we will be back...

« Great staff and location! »

Great staff at this boutique hôtel in Strasbourg, Close to train station and right in the old town section. The Proximty of hôtel was a little underwhelmed by the size of the room, however the price of $90 euros in this town was good value for money. Complimentary wine and local bread 5-7pm was a very nice touch, and staff was excellent to our 2 couple group. Overall a gréât find.

« Full service, friendly, clean and convenient! »

We had a wonderful stay from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The front desk people are extremely helpful, offering suggestions for sightseeing and restaurants, Marie-Christine in particular! We booked a deluxe room and our friends booked a regular room but they were upgraded to a deluxe room as well. The room was quite spacious with a large bathroom plenty of counter space, a small table and 2 chairs, a desk, and a large armoire. Plenty of pillows too! We enjoyed the free aperitif both evenings we were there which was a lovely glass of wine with a slice of the local cake. There was a choice of continental breakfast for 7 euros or for full breakfast for 14 euros Great coffee machine! Within easy walking distance of all museums, the cathedral, Petite France, and lots of restaurants! I accidentally left something in the room safe, and we received a call within half hour of our departure to let us know. Now that is what I call service!!

« Proximity to all you want »

Perfect location, very friendly and helpful staff. Good value for the money. Tasteful blend of historical and modern design. Only downside: rooms towards the street get the full range of noisy crowds, and therefore good sleeping range is reduced to 3 - 6 am.

« Great spot but a bit odd »

Really excellent place in terms of location. Just near petite france and nice restaurants. Breakfast is great. The service is odd though. Housekeeping is a bit overzealous with rearranging personal belongings. They also took the spare key from our room and when I asked about it had a lecture on energy efficiency. Booked the deluxe room. Anything smaller would have been too small. I asked reception to book us a half day wine tour and we ended up into the tour finding out it was a full day. It was a wonderful tour but would have been a problem if we needed to be back in the afternoon. Overall probably wouldn't recommend.

    « Wonderful manageress »

The hotel is very well located, comfortable and well-appointed. But the real star was Marie-Christine, the manageress. She could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Having asked about our interests and tastes, she recommended what to visit and the best places to eat. She also happens to be fluent in four languages.

« Amazing location! Bad sleep quality. »

The hotel is centrally located at the heart of the old city of Strasbourg. Every thing, but really everything, is minutes walk from from the hotel. The hotel's staff are very helpful and kind. Every evening they have between 18:00-20:00 Alsacian complimentary wine tastings. The room itself is designed tastefully and has small-medium size. The bed itself was comfortable but the pillows were quite uncomfortable. The hotel's breakfast is very expensive, and even the express option is too expensive. From each direction of the hotel you have two supermarkets, bakeries and cafes that offer a wider, tastier and cheaper options for breakfast.

This hotel is ideally situated for a city break being within a 10 minute walk of everything you would want to see in Le Petit France. Nice touch in having free glass of Alsace wine in the bar every evening as an aperitif before you go out to dinner in one of the innumerable restaurants all close by. The reception were excellent is telling us about the locality and recommending various restaurants. Would highly recommend this hotel .

    « Noisy sleep »

Average hotel. Bed was tiny and so was the room and the toilet. We didn't manage to sleep as the room has the window on the main street. Really too much noise! Apart from this, personnel is extremely nice and welcoming.

    « Central Hotel »

This is a good central hotel. The staff were excellent, all very helpful with various things. There was a lovely perfumed aroma smell all through the hotel. We had a winter special price which included breakfast, it was a good deal. Our room was great, big and period furniture, and the bathroom very big and very modern. We had our pet dog with us and the hotel was very obliging with her. Would definitely stay there again.

« Perfect location with super kind stuff »

When you find hotel in the center of center with the car access and garage you cannot belleive. Stuff on reception are so kind, and funny, always ready to help. Room was nice and with fansy design, but maybe to small, wich is often in old Europans city centers. Breakfast is to expensive. Thats why we search other solution in city, and that's why i gave 4 not 5. Anyway, if i come back to Strasbourg i know where i will stay... again and again.

    « Excellent location »

The greatest advantage of this hotel is its location right in the historic center, it's spacious and clean rooms and it's helpful and friendly staff. A parking is also available, which although small is very convenient. The only thing is that it can only accommodate small cars.

« Hilarious awesome time in strasbourg »

The service was excellent as well as the professional personnel and breakfast. One of our best stays ever in a foreign country. We arrived and Marc asked about our shiatsu massage, we explained that our reservation was with shitzu dogs, we all laughed and made jokes about this our entire stay. It was awesome. The hotel arranged parking which accommodated our stay. 10 out of 10. everything was perfect. Great staff, keep up the great job. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

« Exellent hotel in downtown Strasbourg »

On a recent visit with my daughter who attends Universite de Strasbourg, we decided to stay at a Best Western brand. It lived up to the level of service and comfort we have come to expect of this brand both in North America and Europe. First class service all-round and comfortable beds and facilities.

« Fantastic place to stay in lovely Strasbourg »

Lovely hotel in a fantastic location in Strasbourg. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and gave us advice on what to do during our time there. We had a big room with an adorable view. My only complaints would be that the WiFi tended to be a bit difficult and some street noise woke me up during the night - neither of these things bothered me too much though! Loved the breakfast & complimentary wine in the evening. Highly recommended and would stay again.

« Wine Festival in Strasbourg »

Friendly and helpful service. Double room was adequate for our 1 night stay. Breakfast was enjoyable with plenty of choice. Good location for sightseeing, restaurants, public transport, shopping. Will definitely stay here again.

« Meets basic needs, great location but could use more customer service »

Specifically booked this hotel based on reviews and the fact that we wanted something with a bit of charm (despite it being a BW chain). We booked a superior room for 4 nights, arriving on a Wednesday. As we entered our room we were immediately met with a pungent cigarette smoke odor. The hotel is non smoking so we went back to the front desk to ask for another room. I was slightly put off that instead of taking our word for it they first sent an employee to "smell" the room before giving us another, as if the paying customer's word wasn't good enough. We were then given a 2nd, much smaller room, so unfortunately had to call the front desk again and ask if there had been a mistake. We were told that there were no other rooms available because the other "superior" rooms were booked on the weekend and they needed them for other customers. I'm hoping that something got lost in translation here because we were also staying over the weekend and I would think a guest staying 4 nights who is already there would have a wee bit more preference that someone arriving 2 nights later. We were eventually moved to another slightly bigger room but it was still not the same as the 1st room we were offered. The room was mostly clean, the trash can in the bathroom had not been emptied from the previous guest but we dealt with it. Breakfast was included in the price of our room but I wouldn't recommend paying extra for it. There are plenty of bakeries and cafes next door that would offer a much better selection. The selection included eggs, bacon, beans, assorted breads and pastries, cereal, fruit, and meats and cheeses. The coffee machine is terrible so you're better off waiting and getting coffee at a cafe nearby anyway. There is a sign that says to ask for anything you don't see on the buffet so I asked for turkey since all the meat is pork but there was none available. Most of the staff were friendly but on our last day I had a rather annoying interaction with a man at the desk named Marc. After four days of terrible coffee from the breakfast area I asked him if I could have a Nespresso capsule for the Nespresso machine in the entry area (this is later set up for guests and there is normally a box of capsules on display). Marc told me no, the Nespresso machine is available after the breakfast buffet. I explained to him that the coffee provided with breakfast is not very good and I would really enjoy a good cup of coffee to take to my room. He again replied with a stern NO and reiterated that the machine is available after the breakfast hours. I was truly shocked, I explained that I wasn't asking him to put out the capsule box but to allow me to use one capsule for one coffee. "If I do it for you, I have to do it for everyone", was his reply. There was no one else in the lobby except my husband and I so I doubt he would have had a line waiting for coffee. I informed Marc that I found his reaction not customer friendly and his reply was simply, "Yes, I know but this is the way it is". I live 2 hours from Strasbourg and plan to come back but this interaction with Marc sealed the deal for me and I will most definitely look for another hotel next time. Pros: -Location: The hotel is right next to La Petite France and everything you need is around the corner. The train station is within 10 minutes walking distance and is a pleasant stroll. -Basic standards will be met. Cons: -The wifi is really spotty and didn't function at all at times, even in the lounge area. -The "soundproof" rooms aren't really soundrproof. They are double doors so you won't hear much in the hallway but are still exposed to the neighbors next door, upstairs, and all the street noise. Our room faced an alleyway so I assume what we heard is less than what others were exposed to but it was quite a bit. There seem to be a small group of locals that gathered to hang out and drink on one of the corners of the building and they get pretty loud. We live in Europe and are used to a certain level of street noise because we live in the city center so it didn't prevent us from sleeping but for others it might be an issue. - Customer Service: Some of the employees could use some refreshing on how to keep guests happy. I don't expect American style customer service in Europe but little things like taking a guest's word when they smell cigarette smoke in a room, or providing a simple Nespresso capsule would have gone a long way. -The hotel is eco-friendly so they have very basic and inexpensive toiletries. Bring your own. -We travel often and when staying several nights we try to do our part as well by only having the room cleaned every other day. Normally leaving the "Do not disturb" sign works but here it was disregarded and housekeeping entered the room anyway and cleaned. Thankfully we weren't in the room because if I've put up the "Do not disturb" sign I expect to not be disturbed.

« Friendly staff and a comfortable bed »

The staff were friendly and very helpful which is very important to me. The location was perfect and right in the middle of the old town (Petite France) so everything was an easy walk. The bed was very comfortable and the room was neat and clean. Parking was off site since my car (tiny by US standards) was too big. That cost 18 Euro for 24 hours with a validation from the hotel. It was only a 2-3 minutes walk from the Parking garage to the hotel. Breakfast was lacking for the price of 14 Euro, but adequate. The standard room is tiny (I kept bumping into myself), but I only used it for sleep but that was all you could do there. The front rooms were very noisy all night. Everything though is a short walk from this perfectly situated hotel 10-15 minutes to Cathedral (Dom). wi-fi was very bad.

    « Great location. »

Great hotel, in central pedestrianized Strasbourg. We went on room only basis. The room was clean and comfortable, but very small. We went for 4 days but this room is OK for a weekend. The staff were very helpful and helped us make the best of our break.

    « Excellent hotel »

I was a bit nervous about this hotel, having seen the size of some of the rooms in photos. I asked to see our rooms before we checked in and was pleasantly surprised. It is an old building with lots of atmosphere [check out the staircase] but the rooms we had were modern. Good beds, clean bathrooms, excellent shutters to keep out noise and light. Excellent location for anything in Strasbourg. Parked in Les Tanneurs de Strasbourg. Very handy if expensive and an absolute nightmare to park in thanks to the French drivers who had no idea about backing up.

    « City center hotel »

Nice quiet room, very nice bathroom. The lobby is outdated, friendly staff. However the curtains in the room need attention and several big stains on ceiling and damaged wallpaper. The manager should notice these problems and fix them. Good but small inner parking. Great breakfast, friendly servant.

« Excellent Hotel with top class service »

The hotel is located just in the pedestrian part of the old town - If you travel by car it is not difficult to leave the car double parked and walk the 20 yards to the Hotel to get them to let you in - the car park is small but manageable (I have a medium SUV). The help and friendliness of the staff both at night and in the morning was second to none - they really went out of their way to help and were SO friendly and informative about the City. I will definitely stay again and thoroughly recommend this hotel.

« Traditional appeal with modern amenities »

The hotel is in a perfect location and the staff is extremely helpful. Shops and restaurants are right outside the main entrance and the cathedral is within walking distance. We've stayed here multiple times and enjoy it as if it's our first.

« Great weekend at the BEST WESTERN Hotel De L'Europe »

The hotel just oozed charm. In a great location very nice and clean. Marc our Hotel concierge was fantastic. very helpful and friendly. i would recommend this hotel in Strasbourg. When I am in Strasbourg again i will definitely stay at the BEST WESTERN Hotel De L'Europe again.

« Location is not bad. »

Nice location near Petit France and Christmas market by the Cathedral. Very small rooms and no minibar to keep the medicine or water. Wifi is very poor, speed is very limited even for short business mails!!

    « Centrally located & charming »

In the heart of Petite France in Strasbourg, this cute hotel offered us exactly what we needed.. Central location, nice, charming rooms, good coffee at the reception and really helpful staff. Easily accessible from the train station, it is the perfect spot in the city. They easily extended our booking when we decided to stay there, in the same room to our request. The walls between the rooms are a bit thin but it was quite enough even though at the new year's eve.

« Great Location, Excellent Service »

The location of this hotel is perfect - right in the centre of the old part of Strasbourg and 5-10 minute walk to any of the Christmas Markets or main sites. It is on a main pedestrian street but as there are very few cars or trucks allowed in it is very quiet. The staff here were very helpful in particular Marion who managed the hotel and the front desk. She ensured we had great reservations for dinner every night and gave us very clear directions on where to go and how to get there. They have a delicious breakfast for 7 Euro or 14 Euro which I would highly recommend. In addition in the evenings, the very lovely bar area does a complimentary glass of Riesling which we loved. Our room was quite small and we struggled to unpack because there just wasn't very much space for storage or our suitcases. We did do the entry level rooms, and having seen some rooms that had their door open while they were being cleaned, there appear to be much larger and more spacious options which I would recommend upgrading to. The bathroom was very nice - new fixtures, clean (although it could have been swept better as there was some grit on the floor when we checked in). Great shower! There is a lot of natural light in the room but the curtains also made it very dark at night which is perfect. Overall this is a very good hotel and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Strasbourg in the future in particular around the time of the Christmas Markets.

« Great location for an old but graceful hotel »

The hotel is definitely old, but so is pretty much everything in Strasbourg. However, the facilities seem to fit the rest of the city and not seem run-down and dilapidated. The facilities are well maintained and the staff is very friendly. Rooms were surprisingly large. The location is about a 10 minute walk from the train station and walking distance to all the other sites within the quaint town.

« Cozy hotel in the heart of Strasbourg »

We checked in just for one night and we really liked it. The check-in went smooth, reception staff is very friendly and helpful. One of the rooms we were supposed to stay in had a strange smell and they kindly offered us another. Beds are comfortable, showers and all appliances are ok. Breakfast was typically european, with good quality products. The hotel is located just a few minutes walk away from the center (cathedral, X-mas market etc). Surroundings are picturesque. hotel has garage, and you have to arrange your parking before your arrival.

« Stylish yet affordable accomodation in the center of Strasbourg »

After successfully passing all the police checkpoints in the heavily guarded city we were heartily welcomed at the reception of our hotel. Speaking fluently German the receptionist invited us to the upper level of the building. We were then accompanied to our room with a nice view to the famous streets of downtown Strasbourg. A big bed and a joyful furnished chamber greeted us, and the sounds of the city remained outside, as the accomodation was pretty soundproof. Later, when we returned from an hourlong walk through the decorated oldtown we were serviced with a glass of white wine. The night proved to be quite and smooth, with a good sleep. In the morning the breakfast room provided us with a rich choice of sweet and salty culinary delights. Our short stay was leaving us very happy and we recommend this hotel to other travellers.

« Thank you Trip Advisor reviewers for this recommendation! »

After diligently reading TA reviews about all Strasbourg hotels, I selected Hotel De L'Europe for our family trip to the Strasbourg Christmas market. THANK YOU! It was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived on a Sat evening -- after 11 hours of bus, train and taxi travel from Oxford, England - we were tired and starving. Madame Marie-Christine Couverture greeted us at the front desk and told us to get settled and SHE would find us a place to eat. At 9 pm on Saturday night! She must have called 10 restaurants before finding us a spot. She was not to be deterred about getting us fed. The hospitality continued for the next four days. The hotel was clean, with good bed and great shower. Good wi-fi (free) and excellent location in old city, near Petite France, not far from The Cathedral - and simply a great place, excellent value. Complimentary Alsace-region wine each evening, full low cost breakfast each morning Strasbourg is a wonderful place to visit all year we are told. Great shopping everywhere. The Christmas markets (yes, it isn't just one - there were a dozen!) are magical. And this hotel is right in the central place to see them all. Thank you to everyone who recommended this hotel. And thank you to Marie-Christine Couvert for being a model of hospitality to our family. Merry Christmas!!

This hotel was an excellant place to stay. Location could not have been better, ideal for all main sites, shops and Christmas markets. Facilities were very good and the staff were so so nice and very helpful. Special mention must go to Pauline and Marc on the reception. But everyone was so nice, always a bonjour and a smile. We could have not asked for more. Will be back!

« Great location, value & most helpful staff! »

I don't think I experienced a more helpful and friendly front desk staff during my six weeks in Europe. Stayed 2 nights. Very convenient location. Beautiful breakfast room with excellent food choices. The room was comfortable and clean -- not memorable, but comfortable. I was there at the end of the summer sales and the staff went out of their way to provide me with discount coupons for local department stores and had lots of other great advice. I recommended the hotel to friends who live in Paris and they enjoyed it during a recent trip to visit the Christmas markets. I look forward to returning!

    « Central location »

We stayed here for 2 nights to visit the Christmas markets. The hotel is positioned in a a central location. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Free Wifi. A negative was that the room was very small.

    « Mr Colin Westley »

A very friendly and comfortable hotel ideally located for the splendid Christmas markets, cathedral and other sites in the City. Restaurants nearby. Easy walk from the railway station which in turn is a simple and quick journey from the airport. Overall a very enjoyable weekend and would wholeheartedly recommend.

    « Most helpful staff »

Very friendly staff and helpful. They were so helpful that if I go back to Strasbourg I would be thinking about going back to this hotel. When you asked them a question they didn t make you feel like you were bothering them like some hotels do. Service is everything and people forget that.

    « Mixed feelings »

I stayed for 2 days in the Hotel de l'Europe. The personnel was very friendly and helpfull, Other positive points, the central location, good and free Wifi. Apart from that, a very disapointing room, small and old, with no view at all. The idea that I'll never get a good room when booking through is of course wrong, I'm sure. Would I go back? I guess not.

    « Just the ticket »

Great location- so close to everything we wanted to see. Lovely helpful staff. Room was clean and well appointed. Each evening we were treated to a complimentary glass of Alsace wine and delicious local bread. Breakfast was excellent, although a little pricey at 14 Euros, it suited us to eat at the hotel rather than finding somewhere else.

    « Simple and friendly »

Why can't all hotels be like this? Good value but not soulless. Friendly but not intrusive. Basic double room was comfortable and clean, with a generously proportioned bathroom. Location is excellent - easy walks to La Petite France, the cathedral and the station. Strasbourg is, of course, brilliant.

« Right across from a lovely Creperie »

Great location; within walking distance from the cathedral and Les Halles shopping center. Rooms are comfortable, modern, and spacious. What's interesting is the contrast between the historical architecture and up-to-date amenities.

« Great place to organise a seminar, wonderful and very very helpful staff »

I work for an NGO and we organised a training seminar here which lasted a week and organising it at the Best Western-Hotel de l'Europe was the best choice! The staff are ALL extremely helpful, kind and dedicated. I cannot insist enough on how helpful and nice all the staff were and how much this made our stay and work so much easier. Our guests enjoyed immensely the great location of the hotel, right at the start of the historical old town of Strasbourg, nearby the canals and all the great restaurants and shops are just a short walk away. The hotel in itself is very clean, the rooms are all charming with authentic decor. The aperitif of local wine and savory buns from 6pm to 8pm is also a great addition to your stay and a great way to start the evening! I highly recommend this hotel whether it is for business or pleasure and hope that I will have the opportunity to come back for another visit.

« Superb in every way! »

We had a wonderful room in the old section of the hotel--absolutely charming and totally comfortable. The staff were easy-going and genuinely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was the best I've ever had--fresh fruit, creamy scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, croissants, cheese. Awesome location smack in the middle of the old city and just a short walk from the railroad station.

    « Very helpful staff »

Very poor quality of MAtress ..if you looking for a confi sleep not in this hotel .due to the mattress quality. Very helpful and friendly staff ..great location and close by to all attraction.such as bars ,restaurant and shops.

« great hotel and awesome location but car access sucks »

we stayed for one night stopping over to is it strassburg. the hotel is central as it gets. 2 minutes to Petite France and 8 minutes to the cathedral. Great room - awesome done mixing new and really old and good noise block out. nice new bathroom so all great. Except the arrival with a car is between hellish and worse. the trick is to park in an overbooked parkhaus and hope to get a parking spot. we just were lucky top floor last spot... but many lucked out. and then you walk from there 100 meters to the hotel. if you are prepared and know then this is ok. if not you are screwed and do like me with a 15 minute circle through yhe one way streets and call the hotel for help. otherwise the hotel is awesome.

« LOVED the Europe , center location, old hotel new amenities »

I LIKED old hotel, new amenities walk to everywhere: train station, old downtown, Germany... airport, a short and very affordable train ride away quiet rooms in central location felt very safe walking in neighborhood at night street view, animated not loud. very clean queen bed, comfortable bathroom clean, new space for computers, very beautiful lobby service was very nice and helpful (kept my luggage until check in time) concierge recommended several restaurants with prices in mind free happy hour time at 6pm breakfast buffet style, with a wonderful waitress fresh and bountiful will definitely recommend to couples, singles, family

    « A great weekend in Strassburg »

We really enjoyed the stay in this hotel which is on a great location in the middle of the old town and all you need to have a great relaxing time in Strassburg. We were with our 8 month old and really appreciated the proximity to restaurants, shops etc. It was very easy to come back to the room if she needed a change or short nap and get quickly out again. We booked deluxe room which was gorgeous, with a huge bed and bathroom, very clean and seamed to be just renovated. The area seamed preatty quiet but one of the nights there was a group talking a bit loudly and you could very well hear it in the room. That was the only downsite. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The parking in the hotel was closed due to a renovation but a place in a nearby parking house was secured at a very much reduced price. We really enjoyed this place and although we stayed only 3 days it felt like we had at least a week holiday.

« we stayed 2 nights in the hotel. it was very nice,in a great location and the crew was terrific (Marc was so nice and fr »

a great place ,a great stuff - they helped us with everything. Marc was incredible ! ! ! close to the nicest part of Strasbourg - little france and the old city. very recommended. clean and quite room.

« An excellent experience. Great location. »

We stayed 2 nights. The hotel is in petite France. Very close to restaurants. Walking distance from main attractions. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food at breakfast was good. The room we had luxury facing the street was very spacious and clean. We enjoyed very much our stay. A definitely good choice.

« Central, very comfortable, very helpful staff »

A solo traveller, I stayed for 7 nights. Felt very safe, although the street people were a bit noisy at night. No traffic noise. Perfect location for city sights and within easy walking distance of the railway station. Spacious, excellent bathroom, good wifi, comfy bed. Many thanks.

« Excellent hotel in the La Petite France in Strasbourg, Alsace, France »

Hotel De L'Europe is located in the very fancy area of La Petite France with many restaurance, very young atmosphere and very trendy place. The hotel itself is during the renovation phase, therefore the garage was closed for public, but there is a big public ( 8 store) garage for 14 Euro per day. Breakfast (14 Euro per person) is very good, rather rich, so is worth the price. The room and the bed very comfortable. There is one, major problem when trying to arrive this hotel, situated in the Zona Piedona in Strasbourg. The Municipality of Strasbourg installed special kind of mechanical barriers in the street pavement. This restrictive device making fool of every GPS maps and it is impossible to pass those barriers without having a special remote control which enable the access to all those Zona Piedona areas. So who can assist the poor traveler. The taxi driver will happily transfer you throu all those barriers for 10 Euro. Just ask him and follow him.Hotel De L'Europe has such facility which they remotely open of you call them while being by the barrier. Summing up: Recommended hotel.

    « Good Value »

I recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to Strasbourg. The location is great, the staff very helpful and courteous and it is good value for the rates they are charging. It is very near Little France with very good restaurants in walking distance. I will definitely stay here the next time I am in Strasbourg.

    « Perfect location »

Absolute perfect location for visiting this lovely city. It was a bit difficult to find though. Le Petit France is a 2 minute walk and the cathedral not much further. the hotel was clean and comfortable but we didnt have any view from our room and the safe didnt work. The receptionist couldn't get it working either. The breakfast was good. Altogether a good hotel for a city trip

« Extremely helpful staff at de L'Europe »

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights recently and was very impressed by the whole experience. I emailed the hotel just before my stay to find out how to reach the hotel from the airport and received a reply early next morning. The hotel is in a very central position on the edge of the picturesque Petite France district. I would have given the hotel top marks apart from the fact that I had to wait 3,hours (until the stated entry time of 2pm) to gain entry to a room but that is fair enough- when I said I was very tired they did try to find a room that was ready and offered coffee and pastries while I waited. The other issue is the fact that on returning to the hotel at 2pm I was given a room in the middle of the renovation work being carried out which was totally unacceptable. However the hotel staff redeemed themselves when I asked for another room by giving me a very nice corner room with extra space. The breakfast is excellent and the scrambled egg the best I have ever tasted and it is kept nice and hot. The hotel offers free wine and cake in early evening which is great for learning about the wines of the region and for meeting other people staying at the hotel. We asked for restaurant recommendations for our evening meal and they never failed- most enjoyable. There is coffee in the hotel lobby and tea and coffee in the rooms- I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel- thoroughly enjoyed my stay .

« Great Location, Friendly, Helpful Staff »

I really liked the location and the hotel as a whole. Reception was friendly and efficient. I was in my room within 10 minutes of walking in the door. The man at the reception was helpful with details for parking and the area. I did read that some people felt the street side rooms were loud, but I did not experience this, although my room was right on the pedestrian walkway, with a nice view from the window. My room was comfortable, although the bathroom lighting is woefully inadequate and whoever installed it should be ashamed. The lighting is absolutely unacceptable- one tiny light consisting of a set of tiny LEDs. Don't let the age of the hotel worry you- they have updated nicely, leaving a few traces of the timbering, but making the room feel modern and historic. A few well chosen older pieces of furniture add to the charm w/o making the room feel old. The bed was super comfortable. The "bar" and bar stools are out of place and should be lowered to a regular table height, which would make sitting in the room more comfortable. The room and bathroom were very clean. The decor in the common areas was older and darker than the room, but did add to the historic feel of the hotel. My room rate included breakfast, which was delicious. There was a good bit of variety. The buffet was kept tidy and everything looked appetizing. The types of food should satisfy anyone from Europe or North America. As much as I liked this hotel, I probably would not choose to stay here when I go to Strasbourg on business, which is some 25 days per year. This is due to the poor lighting in the bathroom more than any other reason. I simply cannot get ready for work with that lighting. I will definitely stay here again when I meet friends or bring family to visit the city. I love that they are pet friendly. The hotel has an agreement with a nearby parking garage, which brings the rate down from astronomical to 14€ per day. I cannot say how much I appreciate the friendly, helpful staff at this hotel.

« Excellent hotel in the city centre »

We spent 3 nights in this hotel when visiting Strasbourg. The position is perfect as it is located in the petite France district so right in the city centre. It is a hort walk to the cathedral and there are a lot of bars, cafe and restaurants neerby. We had booked a standard view which was a little small (12 m2). Ithe room size was mentioned on the hotel site but we had not noticed it. The room was very clean and was very bright but since I'm 8 Month pregnant I had a hard time moving around in the room so the next day we asked if we could upgrade to a larger room. All the Superior Rooms where booked but the Assistant Manager offered us a Deluxe Room at no extra cost! We were of course delighted! The Deluxe at the first floor is darker but of course more spacious and also the bathroom was much bigger and more comfortable. The breakfast is very rich and offers a large variety of choices. they also offer from 6 to 8pm a drink and appetizers in the Lounge. A parking is available in public parking house nearby at the cost of 14 EUR per day (24 h) which was very convenient. We definitely recommend this hotel!

« Very good experience, very nice hotel »

We stayed 7 nights in this hotel, me and my wife, in July/August and if it weren't for a very small room, we would give it 5/5. Very well located near the center 10 minutes walk to the cathedral, lots of places where to eat in the vicinity. The room, although small, was very clean and well equipped. Wifi without any problem. The staff was always very helpful, and very friendly. Always a smile and a word of welcome. I thank all of them for the sympathy they always showed and the way they solved some minor problems. Breakfast was good, all the essential and a little more. We plan to be back in Strasbourg some day, we just loved the city, and for sure we will choose this hotel again. We only hope to get a bigger room then ;) JL from Portugal

« Unique experience in Strasbourg »

Great location but hard to find on GPS as it's not directly accessible by car. Although, the garage is just down the way (Kleber). The hotel is located in a beautiful area of Strasbourg for walking & people watching even though it seems otherwise. It's a perfect place for a weekend stay. Check-in & -out was fast, efficient, & friendly. Breakfast was great w/ plenty of choice but not a large space. Our relatives stayed in a separate room (booking only the day before) & were put in one of the older, smaller rooms. We had a double that was newly renovated. It was one of the rooms on the front side but we weren't bothered by the street noise at all. It was clean, & comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to both friends & family!

    « 1 night »

Recently checked in here for business. Reception was really efficient and friendly. Hotel was very central and accessible. Room was on second floor but was a building site. I felt a little uncomfortable being up there as it was totally covered down in plastic sheeting with all the bedroom doors opened and mid decoration. I did not feel safe. I went back to reception and lady assured me all was fine. Room was small but well laid out and immaculate. Bed was comfortable. Would stay here again. Breakfast was good. Better variety would have made it super.

« The only thing good is the proximity to sights »

Where to begin? First of all, the hotel is located down a pedestrian street, and our sat nav couldn't get us there. On the third phone call to the hotel, the desk person came out and raised the bollard to get us to drive directly onto the pedestrian street in front of the hotel. Then he told me that he didn't have any parking in his garage--although I booked the hotel specifically because it claimed to have secure parking and air conditioning. He sent us back around the one-way streets to a public parking garage that turned out to be full! We waited for about twenty minutes, but all the cars in front of us started trying to back out and give up, so we did, too. I went back into the hotel and said I would simply go to a different hotel if I couldn't get parking, at which time he decided to let us into the hotel parking garage. The desk clerk then upgraded our room, as he told me that the hotel was undergoing renovations, and he had originally put us on a floor that hadn't been renovated. (They should be required to disclose ongoing renovations on or other sites; I wouldn't have booked if I had known about them.) Our room was nice (old world charm), and the bathroom was new. The airconditioning worked sufficiently in the room, but it didn't seem to work in the bar! We would have spent a great deal of time and money in the bar if it hadn't been too hot to enjoy! (It was raining outside, so we were trying to wait out the rain.) The breakfast was basic and poorly prepared. Definitely not worth the money. The only good thing to say about this hotel is that once you are there, you can easily walk to all the shops and landmarks.

    « Great location »

The hotel is situated on a nice street, right beside Galeries Lafayette, very close to Notre-Dame de Strasbourg and the old town. It is surrounded by restaurants, small shops and cafes. Very convenient and I would gladly stay there again. The parking is close by, if you are traveling by car. The rooms were clean and very spacious. Beds were comfortable. There was a bunk bed for two of our kids. Breakfast that was included with our stay was very good. There was a variety for all. The service at the front desk was very welcoming and I would gladly recommend this hotel.

« Nice hotel in the city center »

We stayed for one night at the Best Western Hotel de L'Europe. The hotel location is perfect. 10 minutes walking from the main train station of Strasbourg, 5 minutes walking from the Petite France and 10 minutes walking from the Cathedral. They serve a very nice continental breakfast, wifi works pretty well. The rooms are not very big, but at least they are well equipped.

« Comfortable perfectly located and friendly hotel »

I had stayed here a few years ago and remembered a nice hotel, in an traditional building in the middle of town. So based on my good experience, I booked it again to stay with my family. Excellent decision: the place is still very nice, part of the hotel has now even been renovated. Most of the hotel still features lots of wood like in the old days. As for the staff: they are all extremely friendly and very helpful. Always smiling and ready to answer a question. We got a big room no the first floor. Perfect to cater for the baby bed they had already detain he bedroom prior to our arrival. Comfortable bed, cosy decoration with lots of wood. Bathroom is average though but provided everything you need.

« Great Bargain and Location »

Located in the city center this hotel was comfortable and a great bargain. It is located within walking distance of many of the city's attractions and good bistros. Parking was close and fairiy-priced. The room was very comfortable and nice:

    « Good stay »

Good stay. Downtown and easy to get everywhere. The staff is very friendly. Strasburn is great and this hotel is a good stay for family and business. Recommended for a fair price. Good stay. « Je recommande »

Very good location near the old city "La Petite France" and all the pedestrian area. You have at the hotel or just near the hotel a large possibility to park your car. All the rooms are clean and comfortable but according to your stay in the city, ask for a large sleeping room. The breakfast will satisfy all your wishes and do not hesitate to ask for other things like other eggs preparations.

« Wonderful, helpful staff at lovely city center hotel »

We had one night at Best Western Hotel De L'Europe, Strasbourg, and we enjoyed our stay very much. We were passing through, so location was very important to us. The hotel is perfectly located and the staff were so helpful and truly exceeded our expectations. The rooms a quaint, but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and had a great deal of local items to chose from. We were able to park our car in the on-site car park for a fee, but I will note that you must have a small vehicle because the spaces are very compact. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean and cozy place within waling distance to the main attractions.

« Great Place to Stay in a Great City »

The Best Western in Strasbourg was a real treasure - much like the city itself. Unassuming on the outside but quite exceptional on the inside. Really comfortable room and very good staff helped us feel welcome straight away and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this hotel.

« Pretty good hotel in good location »

The hotel is in the centre of Strasbourg so everything we wanted to go to was walkable. The hotel staff are really friendly and helpful, especially Marie-Christine at reception. We booked a deluxe room and after one false start got room 400, which was large; even the bathroom was big for a European 3 star hotel, and the bed was 6 feet wide. The TV reception was perfect with lots of channels, 4 in English. The mattress and pillows weren't firm enough for me, but would be OK for other people. There was no shaving mirror which my husband missed, but he managed with the main bathroom mirror. There weren't enough lights in the bedroom area, particularly none on or over the desk, although the bedside lights were fine for reading. During the day the large windows let in lots of daylight. There was a good, small fridge in the room which we used to chill water, and the airconditioning was very good. The only other niggle is that there weren't any of the usual small bottles of toiletries but only liquid soap dispensers on the walls near the sink and in the shower-bath, which were very hard to press to get the soap out, but I have small weak hands. Overall, though I would certainly recommend this hotel.

« Picturesque Strasbourg at the crossroad of France, Germany and Switzerland »

Excellent location in the historic part of town within walking distance of major attractions such as Notre Dame and Petite France. Also close to railway station. All counter staff was multilingual - French, English and German - and very helpful indeed.

« Nice place to visit Strasbourg »

This hotel has an excellent location in Strasbourg, just a few steps of Petit France and very close to the Place Kleber too. Rooms are very confortable and the price is reasonable. It has a beautiful replica of the Cathedral at the reception. Personnel is very friendly and they speak multiple languages. It has a parking but it is 16 euros per day, so I recommend to park at Place Kleber or in the street if you dont want to pay that amount.

« Very good Hotel with excellent staff »

Staff is very polite, helpful and can't do enough for you. Parking is available @ 16Euros per day, but be careful, it can't take big SUVs or 4x4 (the hotel does warn you if parking is requested). Alternative is to use the public car park about 100m down the road (you'll pass it on the RHS if you're coming from town). Placed within walking distance of historic town center, shopping, tram etc. I wouldn't recommend the breakfast though. @14 Euros it's overpriced. Overall a good stay and would come back again.
