On the outskirts of Alsager, the Best Western Plus Stoke on Trent Alsager Manor House Hotel stays impressively true to its quaint farmhouse heritage. But as an imaginative conversion, it now features 57 en suite bedrooms, a spacious oak beamed Stables Bar and Grill, indoor swimming pool, sauna and meeting/function rooms. As a base for touring the potteries and Cheshire, few hotels come close. . . and our reputation as a superb 'stop-over' is just as impressive. Business and leisure travelers will love our location, but everyone who stays here will benefit from charming public areas, fresh approach to customer service and welcoming atmosphere throughout. If you plan on dining with us during your stay we recommend booking a table prior to arrival as our restaurant is usually very busy. « Manor Hotel »

I stayed at this hotel in October last year. When I knew I was going to the area again I made sure to book this hotel. The quality of food is fantastic and the aray of drinks is very ample. The rooms are nice and clean and airy. I would deffinitely recomend stay at the Manor Hotel to anyone.

« Superb value for money and great service. »

Just spent 2 nights in this lovely hotel. It was extremely high quality for the price. Large luxurious room with little extras like a nepresso machine, robes and slippers, spa bath. Every one was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. For breakfast - no lukewarm hot food in stainless steel trays with lids - you ordered from the menu and it was then cooked to your request.

Held our reunion here this last week There were 13 of us of different ages raging from 70- middle 80,S All requirements were no trouble at all the staff were lovely and most helpful it was like they all had a magic wand anything needed was soon available.we pre- ordered our evening meal at breakfast time and had a table to ourselves which am certain helped other diners have peace if we got too noisy. There were plenty of places to visit folks did their own thing during the day and we met up for evening mealThoroughly recommend it as a venue.

Ad-hoc lunch on a bank holiday weekend. Haven't been to this venue in years. Pleasantly surprised. Food fantastic. I thought originally expensive, however portion and delivery demand's the price. Service attentive, however it's slow, very slow So if you prepare your self for a laid back day or afternoon ?? chill Then enjoy

« Excellent Customer service nothing was to much trouble »

We stayed over the bank holiday weekend and from the minute we arrived we could not have met with better customer service. Farther in law is in a wheelchair and as requested we had been given two ground floor rooms with easy access. On the first night he was a little cold and an electric fire was soon found, with staff checking the following day that everything was Ok. The restaurant for Breakfast and dinner had exemplary service and again when Farther in Law wanted something that was not on the menu the staff were still able to produce it for him. The hotel was spotless, warm and welcoming. An ideal resting place and we certainly will visit again.

« THE STABLES BAR AND GRILL »

My friend and I recently dined at this restaurant and throughly enjoyed our experience. The place is tastefully decorated, very clean with a good atmosphere. There is a wide variety of food and drinks available that are reasonably priced. We both enjoyed the Halloumi Burger. Our server was a charming young man named LIAM OWEN. Liam was polite, professional, friendly and helpful. We recommend this place to everyone and hope to visit again in the near future.

    « Relaxing »

Wife and I stayed here for a weekend to get away from the kids and the stresses of life, it was great. We'd booked the afternoon tea and the receptionist sorted out a time for us on arrival and the staff overall were brilliant. The bar/restaurant were lovely and the afternoon tea and dinner later on were top class. The pool areas great and the sauna excellent the only issue as others have noted is just 2 sunbeds at the side of the pool so we weren't able to properly chill. Room excellent and very clean Overall a great stay and incredible value

« Very good for business or pleasure »

Stayed a couple of nights whilst on business in the area. Nice reception area and pool facilities and the Stables restaurant is very good. Rooms are comfortable, well appointed and very clean and what you'd expect of a hotel like this. Look out for good deals on accommodation.

    « 5* Plus »

Visited several times over the past year (22/4/18) was our recent. We found all the staff we came into contact with were on top form always looking clean and tidy. Inside the hotel was spotless and the gardens were well kept. The nine of us dined in the Stables Restaurant whereby we enjoyed an excellent meal (plenty of it as well), Two of our party had the Shared Platter which was excellent.

    « Very pleasant stay »

We stayed here for a wedding nearby and the hotel could not have been more accommodating. Early check in allowed us to get changed. The breakfast was good value very good. Staff are invariably courteous and helpful and the rooms were clean. Thank you

    « Wonderful »

Stayed for one night as attending a local event on the Saturday. What a gem. We were late arriving but the restaurant still served us. The food was amazing and beautifully presented. The room was very large and very clean and modern with lots of charm. The bed was huge and comfortable making for a good night's sleep. We had cooked to order breakfast which again was lovely. All the staff were very friendly too.

    « Birthday meal »

Went here on Saturday night for my husband's birthday meal with a party of 18. We were sitted in the anex part of the restaurant which was nice and more private. There was a good choice of food, some priced higher than expected but upon receiving our food was extremely pleased with everything and agreed it was value for money. The food was great, hot and were all very big portions. The staff were great throughout the evening. Everyone had a lovely time and most of us local to the Manor shall be returning again soon. It's definately a lovely place to go for nice food and a good atmosphere.

    « A fantastic hotel »

We stayed here as a family, my wife and our two young boys ages 4 and 7 and I cannot find fault with the place. The children were only really interested in the pool which did not disappoint whilst my wife and I were keen to have a nice bite to eat and a relaxing glass of wine in the evening. The first thing that struck me were the staff, every single one of them were lovely and made a real effort to ensure that we were all happy. The room was fantastic, the bed just amazing and the spa bath was just heaven (I struggled to bring myself to leave it). The evening meal was lovely and again the staff came into their own getting the balance right between attentive and intrusive absolutely spot on. To be honest this was a last minute booking meant to be simply a stop off point for a long journey and ended up being one of the nicest hotel stays I've ever had! In short I cannot complement the hotel and staff enough.

« Great stays - will be back »

Stayed here for a couple of nights as it's not far from where I needed to be for work. Clean everwhere, and the staff / service is exemplary. Room is comfortable with kettle, tea + coffee. Bed was comfy. Toiletries such as shower gel and shampoo were provided. The selection at breakfast was superb. I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. I didn't use the wifi nor the pool. Dinner was tasty. I had a great sirloin steak, cooked exactly how I requested. Latte was also great. Got the feeling that the hotel takes great pride in everything they do, and I would definitely stay here again. Well done to all involved.

    3
« Neat and well kept »

Rooms were spacious and clean. Unfortunately no elevator to get up stairs. Also, no fitness center or thermostat to control room temperature. Nice breakfast served daily with friendly servers. Also, nice restaurant on site for meals.

    « Lovely surprise »

We were bought our stay as a Christmas present as we were attending a wedding locally. What a beautiful hotel, spotlessly clean, comfy beds, we did not take advantage of the pool but it looked so inviting. The customer care was excellent as was the service in the restaurant with a beautiful breakfast on offer. The mix of the old and new building had been meticulously worked out with the central garden well maintained. My friend always laughs at me as when reviewing as she says because I am so fussy there is always a but.. on this occasion I can do nothing but praise it was a privilege to stay in this beautiful hotel. Well done to all the teams who participate in the successful running of the hotel to create and offer such a high standard to your customers.??

« Exceed all our expectations »

Visited this hotel for a 3 night Easter Break and wished we could have stayed longer. We had booked dinner bed and breakfast and found everything was 1st class, we stayed in a king bed room which was exceptionally clean, good bed with a lovely modern bathroom with shower over the bath. Firstly a swim in the pool although small, it was warm and clean and an added bonus to our stay. Food in restaurant was lovely for 2 nights, 3rd night not so good, but resolved to our satisfaction. Breakfasts were hot, a good selection of quality food, with everything you could wish for buffet style or order off the menu. We would recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. We found this break so relaxing with some of the friendliest staff around nothing was too much trouble for an enjoyable break. Cannot wait to return.

    5
« Wonderful for family meal »

We met for an Easter Sunday meal here with the family today- have eaten as a couple here recently too since moving to a house nearby. The food was once again excellent and friendly, polite staff each time. I would highly recommend the shared platter Sunday Roast - amazing value. The decor is beautiful - so glad I found this place, where I no doubt will be a regular now.

« Brand new nephew visit! »

We chose this hotel as it was very close to church Lawton where my wife's sister and new baby live. Sited in a lovely spot the bar serves very good food the service being very quick. Our room was only £79 which is very good value. Ten pound for breakfast if you book it when you arrive, £12 on the day, both very good value prices and a very good breakfast. There is a swimming pool here though typical of me I forgot my swimming gear so missed out on what seemed to be a quite empty pool

    « Lovely hotel »

Really nice hotel, friendly staff who know their jobs and do it well. Rooms pleasant, if a bit on the small side. Swimming pool good, Evening food in restaurant really good! Restaurant staff excellent, Breakfast lovely. What's not to Like? Will definitely be back here.

    « High standard hotel »

Very welcoming Lobby with numerous sofas and sitting areas. Had Executive Room on first floor; similar style as Standard Room but four feet deeper. Very good lighting; tea/coffee facilities; safe in bottom of wardrobe at ground level; opening windows; tv with most Freeview channels; two bottles of water. Carpeted but footsteps resonate on bouncy floor. Very up-to-date bathroom; wall dispensers; very good lighting but the "Star's Dressing Room" style lights around mirror are a bit glary. Dinner with friends in restaurant exceptional because a special vegetarian meal had been prepared as Receptionist had spoken to the Chef when I checked in. Breakfast was cold food buffet with hot food prepared to order (20 minutes due to large number arriving at the same time). Sunday breakfast was hot AND cold buffet. Mine was a very enjoyable stay in a pleasant hotel.

    « Delayed valentine »

I've stayed before and have been impressed with the standards of accommodation and food, but this trip was notable as we had to rearrange twice for various reasons. The staff were extremely flexible and understanding and for that we were grateful. The new restaurant had opened since our last stay but the food remained of a high standard.

« Nice hotel great location »

This is the second time that we have stayed at this hotel, and things have improved in most areas. The food choice is limited (and PLEASE use plates not tiles!), but quickly served by friendly staff. Breakfast is cooked to order, and is also quickly served. The room was a bit on the small side, probably better for one person or a single night, but comfortable bed, and great walk-in shower. The only thing stopping a 5 star rating was the awful wi-fi! This is provided by $KY Clouds, and works ok on FB, but most sites, including BBC News and Buzzfeed, were blocked.I had to demonstrate the problem to the receptionist, who assured me that her computer worked fine on these sites.

    « Great stay »

Stayed here recently Lovely large very clean room Recently refurbished we assumed Very modern and clean bathroom The whole hotel was of exceptional standard as regards the decor Staff we came across were all very well mannered and friendly. We ate in the bar and had the largest fish we had ever seen with chips Very very good value and tasty and fresh The breakfast next day was very good Good standard ingredients very well cooked . Overall a great stay with great room comfy bed good food and staff Booked on a Best Western offer which was a fantastic deal

    « Family Valentine Treat »

Stayed at this hotel with two of my children and their partners for a Valentine's treat. Booked it as it was recommended by a work colleague. I would have to say that disappointed would be an understatement. Let's start with the positives. Lovely hotel and great facilities. Rooms were lovely clean and spacious. Negatives. Our table was booked for 8.30pm for our evening meal and we arrived on time. It took 40 minutes for the waitress to take our drinks order. Another 20 minutes before taking our food order. Food was average and additional dishes were ordered to accompany the main dishes. These arrived after we had finished the course. My daughter's meal was wrong and had to be taken back and another lengthy wait for it to come back correct. Understaffed and the general service in their restaurant was slow and lengthy. Made a complaint on the night and to main reception the following morning but no response as yet from the hotel.

    « Lunch - really good »

Second time eating here and second excellent meal and good service. Food is really good and the restaurant and bar smart, stylish and attractive. Arguably the best restaurant in Alsager and well worth the walk down from the Town centre.

« Great time and place. »

Wonderful place fantastic value for money. Staff and property excellent. Slight hiccup with our meal order but it's how things are solved and how easy solved that shows the real quality of the place and staff.

    « It's been updated! »

A lovely venue The food was good, decent prices, the service is good and helpful, and if you need to be Gluten free, it is excellent. They seem to understand the problem. There is plenty of parking and it is on the whole very peaceful.... and clean too.

« Lovely stay - great value for money »

We booked this hotel on the day through Booking.com on our way back from a trip to Scotland as my wife wanted to visit the Emma Bridgewater factory. What a great choice it was?! Very comfortable reception, speedy check in and very clean and comfortable room. We had already eaten on the way down from Scotland but headed into the bar for a couple of drinks and it was quite nice & cosy. Not too expensive either. After a very comfortable night's sleep we headed down to breakfast. Cooked to order and very nice...all included in the price. Would highly recommend it...nice hotel.

« Faultless stay at The Manor House »

I've just returned from three nights at The Manor House, Alsager and if this was an advert for either the hotel or the town, then I am sold. I've never previously stayed in a Best Western so was pleasantly surprised to arrive at a lovely looking hotel, with plenty of parking in beautiful quiet countryside. Checking in was quick and easy and I was given room 100 on the ground floor. The room was much larger than I expected with a very large king size bed and plentiful storage space. One thing I noticed straight away and throughout my stay was how immaculately clean my room, and the hotel was. I've stayed in quite a few hotels for work and even the cleanest ones have something you can pick on, but The Manor House was spotless. Staff on reception and at breakfast serving were attentive and helpful. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. I opted for the full English breakfast which comprised of sausage, bacon, an egg cooked to your choosing, black pudding, mushrooms, beans, and diced fried potatoes (thought potato was a bit odd on a breakfast, but it may be a local thing). The food came out at a very reasonable rate after my tea and toast. All food was hot and cooked to a lovely standard. There is also a buffet with cereal, fruit, and breakfast confectionary. The breakfast restaurant and bar beneath are done out to a charming and neat contemporary country style and are very inviting to sit in. I unfortunately didn't get the chance to eat in the restaurant in the evening or try out the bar as I was staying in Alsager for work rather than personal time. My room had a large controllable radiator which kept it warm in the evenings and the option to open the windows properly in the daytime to let the air in... which is always nice. The hotel is a fifteen minute walk from Alsager town centre along one road and about five minutes on the same road/direction from a lovely looking pub called The Railway Inn. Again I didn't get chance to try this out on this occasion but it looked really nice. All in all, I was very impressed with The Manor House and am considering fitting in a non-work visit as part of my summer road trip holiday. If you're staying in the area I would definitely recommend you consider it as a stop off.

    « Relaxing Valentines Stay »

Stayed with my partner for Valentines Day. The hotel was very well presented and modern, especially the reception area. Little touches like the candle lanterns, the map print on the wall, the weather for the next few days on the reception desk as well as little events calendar cards were all nice touches. The room was lovely and clean, huge bed which was comfy. Bathroom was clean and very modern. Staff were all friendly, the restaurant was a pleasant surprise, I was expecting an informal pub style experience however it was fine dining style and very clean and modern with well dressed attentive staff. Little touches again were noticeable, like the cutlery pouches sporting the logo and the fact they had a Valentines set menu. Food was tasty and arrived quickly, choice was good. Breakfast was a highlight for us, we woke up late and arrived at 9:45 (sorry!) but were still served which was nice of the staff, the choice was excellent and I like the fact it was made to order. Everything was cooked perfectly and we really enjoyed it, only downside to the experience is that only continental breakfast can be ordered to the room and there was no Sky in the bedrooms which are the only things I can say could be improved otherwise it really is faultless. We will definitely be back and really enjoyed our stay.

« Stables:- Proper real food and great service »

On Saturday 17th February me and my partner decided that eating locally in Alsager was our belated Valentines date choice. Apart from the usual selection of Asian restaurants, many of which serve excellent food we fancied something more traditionally European. The "Italian" on Crewe Road was fully booked and so I looked at others in the area and then remembered The Stables. Crikey, why was this place not top of our list? Often over-looked perhaps because if its out of town location but the choice was brilliant and quality of food with excellent friendly laid-back service simply lovely. Our choice of sausages with mash (though not bubble & squeak as claimed) with onion rings and gravy and my partner's choice of traditional fish & chips with minted mushy peas was just what we wanted washed down with some lovely Timothy Taylors beer and Sauvignon Blanc white wine. Highly recommended and we will be back with friends. Well done and thank you.

    4
    « Good night »

Even though we had a good night and the food was excellent the service was a bit slow, I don't mind waiting half an hour in between courses but waiting over one hour from starter to main was a bit too much. The artist Ollie Marland was rather disappointing and this wasn't just my opinion but all in all it was an enjoyable evening.

    5
    « Stables Bar - Beautiful food »

As a party of 3 we ate at the Stables Bar last night and all of our meals were extremely good, beautifully cooked and presented. I had the duck salad which was extremely tasty but I did feel it needed a little more duck to make it worth the price of £12.95 - perhaps a little over priced but it was beautifully cooked and the puddings were divine, Salted Caramel Cheesecake and Coconut Pannacotta - I would also like to say all of the staff were so very polite and attentive - excellent service. I also think the addition of the extrra bar being upstairs and beautiful staircase looked stunning. Would definitely return as there were so many meals I could have chosen from.

    5
    « Sunday Lunch »

The restaurant is a mixture of old and new. There is a beamed ceiling which is very quaint but has very tasteful modern decor and furnishings. Sunday lunch was very good, especially the beef. My husband had sea bass and it didn't touch the sides! We also had sticky toffee pudding and ice cream for pudding which was excellent. Very friendly staff, particularly the young man called Dom. It's definitely somewhere we'd return to.

    5
    « vastly improved »

stayed many years ago and was ok, however it has been upgraded since , bar, swimming pool, relaxing area, bedroom very comfortable and quiet, fully equipped bathroom with thick towels, very good value

    5
    « Verh good »

Stayed for two nights in hotel. We have stayed here before ( about 8 years ago now) a lot of money has been spent on upgrading rooms and especially the restaurant, which is now really lovely. The pool area is very clean and inviting. Now also has a small sauna which is a nice touch. Breakfast on Sunday morning was a help yourself buffet, with everything you could want. On Monday morning breakfast you choose from menu, and again extremely good, even haddock and eggs, which looked lovely and tasted even better. Would highly recommend.

    5
    « Anniversary Treat »

Lovely hotel, with friendly, helpful staff. Enjoyed dinner in the bar and the breakfast was excellent. Rooms look to be recently refurbished (to a good standard) and spotless. The rooms were initially hot but just turned down the radiators...it was January... Would definitely recommend.

    5
    « Fabulous quality, value & service »

My fiancé and I stayed here for a Saturday evening, to celebrate my birthday, and we had a fabulous time. Our room was modern and well appointed. We enjoyed a dip in the hotel pool & sauna (both of which are fairly small, but a great bonus to have use of). Our deal included a three course dinner with prosecco, in the gorgeous refurbished Stables restaurant. We thought the menu choices, food quality and service were excellent. Breakfast was buffet style, and once again we were impressed with the quality of food on offer. The public areas of the hotel are spacious, and well appointed. There is a large free car park & free wifi. The location of the hotel is excellent, on the edge of Alsager, with easy access to the M6. Overall, we could not fault the hotel at all & look forward to returning in the future.

« Superb hotel but so hot!!!!! »

Great hotel, very clean but even in the winter the whole hotel is stifling. I had a shower and straight afterwards got dressed to go out. 10 minutes back in the shower. Complained and they said had lots of complaints. Get air conditioning then

    « Weekend break »

Chose hotel as it was near to an event we attended. First impression was good situated in a quiet residential area, fast efficient check in , every member of staff we encountered was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and spacious though bed was too firm for my taste and would suggest asking for a room at the back of the hotel as there was a little bit of traffic noise on Monday morning. Nice pool area though lacking a jacuzzi but be careful using the sauna as the ?hot coals? are just inside the door. The Stables restaurant is pleasant enough but a bit busy on Saturday evening but staff coped well. Sunday evening was quieter and really enjoyable. Sunday buffet breakfast was good but could have been a little warmer, hit breakfast on Monday is chosen from a menu and the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were really good. Overall it is a nice hotel made better by the friendly, helpful and attentive staff and would go there again

« Oh Dear, let down. »

We have had family meetings (4)here for the last 12 months, we have also stayed over night previously (2) in 18months, which were very good. However, we all agreed this was the first time their Sunday meals looked like processed meat (Sliced Beef,Sliced Ham) on the Platter for Two. We have had these platters before but they never looked anything like this. Chickens on both platters were very lightly cooked and sent back but were still blooded in parts so we left them, we did complain when paying bill reply was " We hope we get it right next time". Well, make out that what you can. Think its time to vote with our feet.

    2
    « Won't visit the restaurant again »

What used to be an excellent place for a Sunday lunch, is alas no more. Food cold and unappetising, service poor, noticed several disgruntled guests the other Sunday. Seems like they are more interested in making a fast buck rather that offering good customer service and repeat business. Poor value now for the money. Not the only ones saying this.

    4
    « Great night »

Stayed here with friends for a party night. Lovely, clean, modern rooms and a really nice hotel and bar. We had a great night with fabulous food served. Only fault is the cost of drinks here. £10.70 for a G&T and pint of Guinness. Over £60 for two bottles of prosecco, two corona and a Guinness. London prices are not this high AND it's not a decent bottle of prosecco. High end prices for cheap plonk. We would have spent far more money here if the prices for alcohol were more reasonable. The staff were all really friendly, helpful and polite. Breakfast was excellent.

    5
« Outstanding for my Sunday night before meeting »

Booked last minute online, very reasonable price ~£50. I stay in hotels very regularly for work, and I must say this was the best stay I have had for a very long time. They really seem to have nailed all aspects of the guest experience. Check in very smooth and friendly, room was immaculate in terms of cleanliness, it was of a good size and decent quality furniture. Good comfortable bed. I had a lot of work to do and wanted to order some room service, the menu was limited. I had heard very good reviews of the Stables Bar and Grill, and googled the menu. I asked if I could order from this menu and the staff let me with no problems. The food was of an exceptional quality at a very good price. The sirloin steak was cooked to perfection. The mushroom starter and toffee pudding very good. Draught beer very good indeed. Breakfast has a very nice setting upstairs in the stables, on arrival I thought initially the choice was quite limited, but after a quick browse a very friendly member of staff offered coffee and told me that food was cooked to order. I was offered a full english breakfast but just took up the offer of some toast and great quality coffee. Checkout was a breeze and I was at my meeting in Crewe in 10mins. Overall one of the very best experiences i've had for some time. Staff seem young and keen, but clearly handpicked and well trained, has a bit of banter with the room service lad. Attention to detail at the property is spot on with very high standards. They could charge a lot more for the rooms there i'm sure! I'll be back when next in Crewe and will recommend to my colleagues when visiting the north west.

    « Sales meeting »

Stayed here for our quarterly sales meeting. Meeting rooms are great, plenty of room, light and airy. Drinks and snacks brought to us and lots of choice. Food in the restaurant was lovely although some of the crockery was not as clean as i would have expected and had to ask on two occasions for cups to be changed for this reason. Toilets clean and well maintained, bedrooms are lovely.

    « New Years eve »

Amazing place ,10 out of 10 for customer service, food ,atmosphere and attention to detail is first class, this is the second year celebrating New Year's Eve here and a massive thank you to everyone for making this a memorable evening, can't wait to return.

    3
    « Stables bar meal »

The hotel has a lovely open reception area which was well presented, clean and tidy. The new Stables bar area has a very warm intimate feel to it, and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Being a very fussy eater, I struggled with the main menu options, so I ordered from the two course Christmas menu. The food was fresh and tasted nice, but the mashed potato let the turkey dinner down. Both children had plenty of choice on their menu, and the portion size was ample. Overall it was a pleasant visit.

    5
« ALWAYS A JOY TO STAY HERE »

Stayed again, this time for a leisure visit as always everything was spot on the staff, the room the food although the hotel was very busy due to a room promotion offer everyone still took the time to make sure everything was ok for us. Although a buffet breakfast the produce is first class (great sausages normal and vegetarian). Not too sure about the new staircase installed leading to the restaurant a little bit blingy in our opinion in comparison to the rest of the hotel, but this negative didn't impact pn our stay at all can't wait to go back again.

    « Very below average »

Restaurant Meal for Two Couples 13th December 2017 First, let us apologise for not having left a gratuity for the youngsters on waiting duty. The real problem is that the young girls "waiting on" are left to take the flak. Managers are nowhere to be seen! The reception at the Hotel was a farce. The restaurant has been "converted" from a half decent restaurant to an estate pub, Note to hotel owners, "it hasn't worked". The food was little better than garbage. The service was rubbish. It would take a lot of words to describe our experience that night of the 13th December 2017, and so we will not bother readers. Suggestion to anyone thinking of booking a meal at the Manor Hose.....DON'T!!!! Go to the Wychwood Park instead. One last thing.....a year ago, we paid a deposit on a meal for four people, and it was "forgotten" on the Bill. This year, the exact same thing happened..... none of us believe in coincidences. We will never go there again.

    « Should do better »

The hotel is located in the small village of Alsager within easy access of the M6. It is created around the old farm core that is now the restaurant. A spacious and bright lobby creates that airy feeling upon the arrival. The swimming pool is definitely a bonus for unwinding after a busy day. Rooms are quite typical for a chain hotel, standard size with standard amenities. The restaurant offers quite average pub fare with a passable wine list. The décor is simplistic despite all that potential (exposed wooden beams, fireplace, old windows). There is a great bar upstairs split into three areas, typically unmanned, that gives you a little bit of privacy. Breakfast is quite standard although rather chaotic ? the staff need quite a bit of training about tending the guests which was quite haphazard. We had to keep asking for tea; tea for two; toast; butter etc?. It's a good place for a stop-over, not really as a base to explore the surrounding areas.

    « Great for business »

Excellent value hotel, clean good rooms and a very good restaurant. Ideal for business trips and has a gym and a swimming pool. Recently refurbished by the look of it and staff are very welcoming and helpful.

    « Wedding »

I stayed at the hotel for a wedding recently and it was amazing. We stayed the night before and got served by two lovely girls, one of them that was working the wedding as well. The day itself was so special and the staff and kitchen team were amazing. So much that we felt that we had to thank them personally. It was the best wedding and I would like to thank Frank the toastmaster and the waitress Georgina that worked in the restaurant and the wedding who made sure that we had a brilliant day. The bar staff that night were extremely good to keep up with the amount of drinks we were ordering and I would definitely like to come again for a meal Thanks to all

« Close to a 5 star but the breakfast coffee was embarrassing »

I booked this hotel partly thanks to recommendations on this and other sites. Hotel is a bit out of the way but Google Maps will get you there easily. The outside of the hotel looks OK but not quite like a Manor. The reception area is quite brilliant with nice sofas, a skylight... Checking in was quick and easy. The room was comfortable. The mattress was perhaps just a tad too soft for me but still nice. The room was of good size, so was the bathroom. Shower was OK. TV was OK but a bit past it and in need of a retuning (some channels proposed by the guide but not actually there). Breakfast was mostly OK. We went for breakfast pretty close to the end of service however most foods were still available. Maybe a bit less choice than I would have liked to see for this type of hotel. However, we did have a major issue. The coffee was what we call in French "jus de chaussette". It was as if it had been made with an homeopathic quantity of Mellow Bird.

    « Always excellent »

I stayed here quite a bit about ten years' ago and thought it was a brilliant place. I have not visited since then - until this month. I'm glad to say that, although a lot has changed at the hotel, it is still just as good as it ever was. The beds are really comfortable, the room are clean and have everything you might need. The best of the hotel is and always has been the food; every meal I've ever had here has been exceptional.

    4
« Good but not excellent »

Overnight stop between north and south. A little way off the M6 but not too far. Impressive exterior and reception area. Room was good too but lacking a TV remote. Didn't room service check? Two hour wait for controller. Dining room under refurbishment so rather temp facilities from dinner and breakfast. Food basically good and service average - probably not helped by temp set up. May try again in a year or so.

    « 70s/80s night »

Given a lovely room with comfy bed and the Windows can actually be opened more than an inch. Chairs were comfy and bathroom modern. A few bits weren't as clean as should be though. I can understand the cleaner not spotting the cobwebs hanging down as the wallpaper was grey with a lined pattern but the toilet lid had a brown mark on it. I always take antibac wipes luckily. Decent tv that worked well. Staff were lovely. Never saw a lift. Had to carry cases up the stairs. Went down to use pool. Not so nice. Just a general changing area with no cubicles and although you need a card to get in if someone opens the door everyone in the corridor can see in. The shower was freezing and squirted everywhere. Pool was a good temperature but if you look properly it's not very clean. There's a sum ring round the top if the water on the tiles and if you look on the wall from the pool there are pipes under a box covered in I assune white limescale. You can't see it stood on the side only from in the water. I really wish there were adult only sessions as the kids in there were jumping in, shouting and bobbing up underneath you as you swam which is really annoying in such a small pool. We just wanted a quiet swim. Others got out muttering how annoying it was and one man did say loudly that he was getting out before he lost his temper. Please consider having even just an hour time slot for adults only. The entertainment was brilliant and we had a fabulous night although the food really let it down. We left most of it as it was horrible. The beef Wellington only came with half a carrot although some people had a dish with veg not all tables did. Bed was comfy. Would stay again but not eat here.

« Excellent Hotel for an overnight stay »

The hotel is excellent. It is very relaxing with a beautiful swimming pool. Service and food are excellent, both evening meals and breakfast. Bedrooms have been refurbished to a very high standard. Great bar area and reception area for a relaxing drink.

    « Worth staying here »

Just a few words describe this hotel! Spotless, friendly, service brilliant, facilities excellent. Breakfast, evening meal were good value and well presented. Room spacious (a superior room admittedly) and I WILL be going back

« Great hotel but a few personnel issues »

Went there for a special occasion. We got there at about 3.25PM. There was a notice saying the pool is closed, Oh that's a shame we said that's the reason we chose this hotel. They are working on the chlorine levels they said. Oh and the restaurants are both closed but we are serving bar food in another room. We waited 90 minutes and asked again about the pool. This time it was the manager who said "the maintenance man is on holiday today I don't like asking him to come in on his day off" But we thought you were working on it ? Manager said "he has to have a holiday (indignant)" We know that, of course, but we would have come on a day when someone could operate the swimming pool had we known, you could have emailed us (you have all our details). A bottle of wine was offered, we don't want wine, Sainsbury's is down the road if we did. Back to the pool the manager said other people are disappointed about the pool too, we are sorry to hear that ?? ? We think we should go home and possibly come again or ask living social for our money back. But the pool is now open and its lovely clean and warm. We kept the bottle of wine, nothing else was offered, despite us talking to Best western hotel chain (they aren't Best western they just use the name) and the manager talking to her manager. Next day. The breakfast is the best I have ever had, loads of vegetarian options, great coffee, served by very nice staff in a lovely sunlit room. We have another swim and again, its very nice, the sauna is only big enough for 2 but that suits me. The hotel is spotlessly clean, very well kept, inside and out and is designed to capture sunlight, they are very generous with free newspapers and we're going back, but I'd rather have known the truth. I appreciate that hotel management must be very hard and the manager was actually very nice but I didn't appreciate sitting waiting for a pool that wouldn't be opening, to open. It was a waste of a precious holiday.

    « Lovely Stay »

This hotel was lovely, we had a great stay, in a lovely village, not far off the motorway, the price was really good, and they up graded us, the room was really nice, clean, great big bed, warm, great service, well worth the money, will use again.

« Great value for money »

Have stayed here several times now, always on my own, travelling for work. Rooms are always clean with good comfortable beds and a decent sized telly. Definitely worth considering an upgrade to an executive room for the jacuzzi bath. Bar food is pretty standard, but always well presented. Hotel staff are super friendly from reception to waiters. Breakfast is amazing - a real plateful. No need to stop for lunch after staying here!

    « Could be better »

Visited as a treat for a family birthday as not visited before. Looks quite nice from the out side but needs some attention to detail as a piece of broken fence laying across the footpath when we arrived and carpark could have looked better. Lovely entrance and fabulous plush furnishings as you walked in to the building and a swimming pool on site, however by the patio doors cheap bits of carpet with tatty edges had been put for people to wipe their feet on - very strange when looking at other fittings As we entered we did see a lady cleaning the brass rail and everything seemed nice and clean downstairs. We proceeded to go up to the restaurant which if you have a problem with stairs you can use the lift, and were asked to take a seat while we waited for our table. Drinks were ordered our menu choices were taken whist sat here (set choices here on Sundays which we already had viewed so no problems with that) As we were shown to our table the glass cabinet caught our eye as the glass shelves hadn't seen a duster in a while as someone had marked them by writing on it ?? The staff were very young and extremely pleasant but the young man could have done with having his shirt ironed Our food arrived and to be honest we were very disappointed, the starters weren't a hit as due to personal taste the others didn't like them but I had crab and prawn which was fine if a little dry, however the mains were very disappointing. We all had the Sunday lunch, and all the meats were lovely, I had pork belly which melted in the mouth the others had beef or turkey, however, they then had a bet on whose roast potatoes would roll onto the table first when they cut into then as they were quite hard and the Yorkshire puddings had definitely been into a bit to long. Not much choice on dessert so I had the Cheese board which to be honest except for the pork belly was the nicest part of my meal and the kids as we all shared it in the end as they left most of their meals as well. The other two had the brownie and ice cream which was okay. Think the cleaner has skipped the restaurant as it also had quite a few cobwebs. Such a shame as down stairs looked okay, I now know are having upstairs refurbished and can only say yes it needs it. Not a cheap place to eat and going by my experience and expectations would I go back again, most probably not which is sad as was really looking forward to it as was the lady who chose it for her birthday

    « Fantastic hotel »

Couldn't fault anything about this hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Hotel is spotless. The swimming pool is fantastic. We only had breakfast at the hotel but it was very nice. Everything was quite and relax which is what you need after a busy lifestyle.. Depending on what you want to do but there is something for everyone in the area, furtherest we travelled was probably about 20 miles. Unfortunately we didn't get into the actually peaks due to the weather, but we didn't worry to much as a lot of the time we prefer just being at the hotel. Next time we visit this area this is where we will stop without no doubt.

    « Excellent Value »

Lovely hotel, beautiful old Manor House. Bed was a tad hard for me, but I am a little fussy! Everything was lovely as well as clean and new. Breakfast was fine, and all staff were friendly and extra helpful. We would most definitely stay here again.

« Superb experience ...thanks to wonderful staff »

Very pleased with our stay. We had targeted Stoke on Trent for a visit to a production at the local theater. The performance was cancelled!.....however, we spent a alternative and very enjoyable evening in the hotel bar: The Stables. Superb food and atmosphere. The whole hotel is very clean and well appointed but the highlight is the friendly nature of the staff who seem genuinely pleased to make your stay a memorable one. 10/10 to them and their attention to detail.

    « Let's go out to eat. »

My wife and I visited the stables bar for a drink a few weeks ago after work on a Friday. As we don't live too far away. We liked it so thought why not return for a meal. So glad we did, we had a few drinks at the bar before hand. It was quite busy as the was a party but thst didn't spoil it. We had pitta and humous for starters to share as it was big enough a portion to. Pork belly with Kashmiri sauce was beautiful. Emily and Dominico were great hosts, excellent customer service. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening the only criticism would be maybe a little low level background music would be good. Will definitely be back again .

    « Sunday Lunch »

We went to the Manor House for Sunday lunch with our two children. We had the sharing platter Sunday roast, you get 3 types of meat (half a roast chicken, beef & h) along with roast potatoes, carrots, noodles potatoes, Yorkshire puddings & vegetables. It was absolutely delicious and there was plenty for 2 adults. It is definitely the best Sunday lunch I've had in a pub/restaurant before.

    « College Reunion »

It is 40 years since my friends and I graduated from Alsager College of Higher Education and despite the fact that the College is now no longer and largely demolished, we decided some eighteen months ago to make the pilgrimage to Alsager from our homes throughout the UK. Some of us had the foresight to book into the chosen hotel well in advance whilst others who tried to book later found the hotel fully booked and had to source other accommodation in the town. This is the first time I have stayed at the hotel but it will not be the last when visiting again since I could not have wished for better. My room was comfortable with the usual facilities for use during my stay and the meals were excellent. However what made the whole weekend exceptional was the outstanding service provided by the hotel staff whether working in reception, the bars or the restaurant. All were truly professional, efficient and attentive to our needs. They were equally friendly and engaging and kept smiling through despite having to cater for a wedding, and a very full restaurant and bar areas. My friends and I intend to stage another reunion next September so I shall be booking my room tomorrow to guarantee my room for the weekend.

    « Truly Excellent Hotel »

Came here for a few days after a slightly boring AGM meeting in Leicestershire. Wow this hotel is truly excellent, very friendly staff, very nice family room - tastefully decorated with a modern but certainly NOT minimalist/boring bathroom which is a welcome relief - and a decent size unlike some hotels we have been to, truly wonderful breakfasts with truly nice sausages plus the staffs oatcakes are very nice as well, excellent food at the Stables Grill Bar and a decent swimming pool. This is the standard excellent quality I expect from Best Western Hotels and this one if definitely 'Up There' with the other excellent Best Western establishments I have been to in Lincoln City & North Norfolk and hopefully I will return again in the not too distant future.

    « Outstanding »

Came here for a business meeting with a colleague from the Domestic Cleaning Alliance. Neither of us had been before. We ate in the restaurant - service was outstanding, food was to die for and priced very reasonably for what it was. Everywhere spotlessly clean in the public areas which we used. Staff all looked so smart and clean. Service second to none. Will definitely use again in the future.

« The annual family bash! »

Loved the hotel, the staff and the whole experience was as expected. Only beef was that catering for a party of 19 meant that some of the food was very dry, and if we had waited for everyone to be serviced before eating then some would have been cold. The restaurant staff were excellent. The rooms were lovely and quiet, even though we were near the stair doors. It was nice to see youngsters being taken on and trained. Thank you

    « Super hotel »

My wife stayed here at the weekend . The hotel is very clean and spacious, it has a good sized swimming pool , we didn't venture out much other than meal times . They have two restaurants we opted for the ostlers which is a la carte . The service was very good indeed , and the food was top notch my wife had the calves liver and she said it was the best she had ever had , I had the mussels with white wine sauce which again was very good , we both had fillet of steak which was excellent the meat just fell off your fork . For desert she had ice cream and I went for baked Alaska which tbh could of been better The breakfast was very good and plentiful Nice hotel nice food nice people

    « Fine hotel »

I stayed at this hotel on a business trip. The entrance of the hotel looks nice, was helped well by the lady at the front desk. The rooms are OK but nothing to rave about. Same for the bathroom. Wifi was free but quite slow. The breakfast was ok however the continental buffet is rather limited. You do have the option to order warm dishes. Overall fine hotel, would probably stay here again.

« Night away for girlfriends birthday »

Came here back in May for girlfriends birthday, location was spot on and in a very nice area. We came here as we both went to trentham monkey forest which was around a 15-20 minute drive away from the hotel which was brilliant. The staff were lovely and couldn't fault anything, especially the room service as we didn't go for breakfast, so the night before we filled in the sheet asking what you would like and they bring it to you at the selected time you wish which we both loved. The restaurant too in the evening was spot on the food amounts were huge for the price! Couldn't really find any faults for this hotel but all in all a nice night away.

« Excellent food and lovely friendly staff. »

Had a great stay from beginning to end. Was a bit apprehensive traveling alone, but no need to worry as the staff were brilliant. My room was was clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast at weekends is hot and cold buffet - hot not!!! Cold!!! Weekday breakfast excellent, great choice, cooked to perfection.

« Everything better than expected! »

A last minute booking so arrived late, but dinner in the bar was still available, freshly cooked and delicious. Rooms and communal areas freshly decorated and very clean, and above all, all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Garden courtyard is beautifully designed, and all in a quiet, pretty location. A real cut above most other hotels in this category.

« Excellent hotel with staff to match »

We have used this hotel a number of times for a stop off whilst travelling from south to north vice versa and found the halfway house distance of this hotel, for us a worthwhile place to stay. Best Western are always a good standard of hotel but what makes them better is that many are independently owned by a range of hoteliers keen to please a wide range of travellers. From the start of our visit we were warmly welcomed by the Reception staff and given an excellent room - this was a really good start which set us up for a very pleasant overnight stay. We had to leave early so we couldn't sample the breakfast but the evening meal in the Ostler Restaurant was very good indeed, an 'olde worlde' feel with low beams and a quiet ambience helped to create a relaxing atmosphere. Friendly staff offered good service and we enjoyed a thoroughly good meal and the menu offered a good range of options to suit all tastes and we left impressed by the quality of the dining experience. A good night's sleep was appreciated and the wi-fi worked effectively to keep me in contact with the outside world without any glitches. We have come to rely on the quality of Best Western Hotels around the UK and Alsager Manor is as good as any with quality food, bedrooms and service + a very large car park. We will be back again when next heading North from our home on the South Coast.

« Lovely vegan food at wedding breakfast »

My daughter and I were at a friend's wedding this weekend at Manor House and had ordered vegan food for the wedding breakfast. All 3 courses were lovely and lots of thought and care had gone into the food. We particularly loved the vegan chocolate mousse for desert which non vegan guests on our table wanted to try. The service at the hotel from arrival to leaving was superb and Frank, the master of ceremony, was absolutely brilliant.

    « Very nice hotel »

This is a very pleasant, quiet hotel on the edge of town. The Reception area is calm and attractive. The room was comfortable though overly warm. Breakfast was good: lots of choice and nice to get the hot dish cooked to order.

    « Fab find »

Decided to break a long journey and booked this on a whim, arriving an hour later. Received a great welcome from all the staff on site. Clean and fresh in a lovely setting. Great food in the stables bar and one of the best Sunday lunches I have had in a very long time. Brilliant little find would heartily recommend and will be returning.

    « Lovely Stay »

My wife and attended a wedding reception here so as usual lets stop the night, its approx. 10 mins from J16 of the M6 motorway and 5 mins walk from Alsager train station,, on arrival we checked in then went to our room to which was a disabled one which was not a problem, it had all disability requirements wet room etc, very clean a spacious, its quite a large hotel considering where it actually is, plenty of areas to relax, the bars are nice with very helpful and polite staff, but we were here for a wedding and did not sample food from the bar but the food at the reception was very nice and plentiful, credit goes to Frank he was the master of ceremony funny, helpful, obliging ,well attired and a gentleman he made my nephew and his wife's day go so well, thank-you Frank, Breakfast the following morning was really nice its help your self, as I we only live 15 minutes down the road we thought it was well worth the visit.

    « Don't miss this little gem »

This family run hotel is all you could ever need for either business travellers or families. The cleanliness, attention to detail and superb food is only beaten by the excellent and attentive staff. If you need accommodation anywhere near Alsager, then you must stay here.

« Still gets better and better! »

We have now stayed here on many occasions since our last review and have to say that the hotel just gets better and better. Having had a fabulous evening at New Year we recently booked a Manor House Escape and have to say that it was just perfect! We had a beautiful Executive Room with Jacuzzi bath, a superb evening meal and great breakfast (plus a glass of Prosecco and newspaper) for less than £120 per couple. You would struggle this time of the year to get anywhere near that price with a PremierInn meal deal break! We have stayed at the Manor House for many years - probably more like 23 years now - and it is a pleasure to see just how much it continues to improve. What now makes is very special is the hotel owners, managers and staff, who all treat us like 'part of the family'. This really is a beautiful hotel and I am sure that anyone who booked a stay here would not go away disappointed....... if they did, I wouldn't be the hotel I was questioning. Thank you Manor House and see you soon :-)

    « Manor House Escapes »

We stayed here on the Manor House Escapes Offer which was £110 for bed, breakfast and an evening meal. The rooms were spotless and clean. We went to celebrate my friends 30th wedding anniversary. All four of us even manged a hour in the indoor pool yesterday which was fine. The only fault was the evening meal, they ran out of lamb, with so many being in the hotel you would think they would cater for everyone. My wife had Chicken with pop corn on, which was a bit of a let down. The four of us all had a different meal in the restaurant and thought that the portions were were small, and was not value for money. We have tried the Escapes on several times and now think its time for a change.

    « Nice hotel »

Stayed here one night as a stop off whilst driving up north- only a small drive from motorway, but in a nice quiet location. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Clean and lovely looking furniture and decor, with low Tudor beams to add to the atmosphere. Really comfortable stay- would recommend.

    « Couldn't have asked for more »

We booked to stay at the best western as a one night stay to visit cebeebies land in the morning! After 7 hour car journey that was only supposed to take 3 we just wanted to get checked in and settled! We checked in and went to the room to notice the room didn't have a cot or a bed for my children! I went straight down to reception expecting it to take a while for someone to come set the beds up in the room we had already which would have been a squeeze! But they didn't they were so helpful at reception they told us they would move our room if we didn't mind giving them 5 minutes to sort it! We went to get some dinner and sure enough before we had even ordered drinks a member of staff found us to tell us our new room was ready! My daughter has allergies so eating out always proves a task! However at dinner the chef came out and me and offered different options of what he could make! And dinner was beautiful! All in all the service was brilliant and I would recommend to anybody!!

    « daughters wedding »

My daughter held her wedding here on saturday 22nd july and a lot of the wedding party stayed overnight. I could thoroughly recommend the Manor House if anyone is looking for a venue. Everything was perfect and the grounds are lovely to take photographs in. They have a toastmaster called Frank who was fantastic and kept the wedding flowing along nicely all day. It was also perfect for the night time party and we had the resident disc jockey who was brilliant. The rooms are also lovely and clean, comfy beds and tea and coffee in the rooms. There is even a lovely swimming pool but we did not get the time to use it. We had a wonderful day and would not hesitate to book again.

« Good Hotel but spoilt on this occasion by excessive noise »

This is a good Best Western hotel which we have used before. Unfortunately, during this stay fellow guests from a wedding party were very noisy late at night. While I appreciate that Wedding business is good for hotels, excessive noise will deter other more regular guests from staying

    « Fabulous hotel »

My 3rd visit with my partner. The first time was on a Groupon deal but we loved it so much have come back. Cannot fault anything, from the friendly staff nothing is too much trouble, to the spotlessly clean rooms, comfortable beds, and wonderful food. We had the 3 course Sunday lunch to die for when we got there and the breakfast is always spot on. With good facilities like the swimming pool and sauna, we always feel relaxed and happy after visiting here.

« Lovely hotel fantastic staff »

Stayed overnight in a superior room. Lovely large superkingsize bed, beautifully clean room, sparkling bathroom. Linen and towels white and fluffy. All areas tastefully decorated. The friendly and professional check in at reception set the tone. Every member of staff we spoke to were warm and welcoming. We arrived to breakfast at the very last minute as the clock in the bedroom was running 30 minutes late. The breakfast staff could not have been more accommodating. Very smoothly run breakfast service presided over by a conscientious female member of staff who made sure everything was tip top. All of the staff working at breakfast were a total credit to the business. The quality of food was excellent. We did not take advantage of the pool but we could see it from our room and it looked very inviting, we just didn't have the time!! I would highly recommend this hotel, despite the minor hiccup with the clock, deliberately didn't look at the phone as wanted to switch off and you can easily do that here.

    « Over night stay »

Great welcome on arrival. Stayed in room 203 which was very clean and had a small but adequate bathroom. Tea n coffee making facilities. Although could have had two of each item as would have had to share hot chocolate and if wanted more than one coffee each would have had to ask for it. Also only one pack of biscuits between us. But we can live with that. We got this on Tesco club card points and only stayed til 3 in the morning as had a long journey ahead. So can't comment on breakfast but would have been nice if a takeaway breakfast was available as had been paid for? Just little points. We are staying again in a few days so hopefully the room is as nice for what little time we are in it.

    « 50th Birthday »

Fantastic! We have just returned from another amazing stay at The Manor House Hotel. The purpose of this visit was to celebrate my 50th birthday. We booked a suite which was beautifully presented and very spacious. It had a 3-seater sofa, a separate chair, tea/coffee making facilities, iron/ironing board, hairdryer, safe, large flat screen television, a huge mirror, a desk, two deep bay windows with a garden view and a large four poster bed. Very stylish. Everything was clean, crisp and well presented. The bathroom was modern and very well appointed. There was a double shower, a soft close toilet, fluffy white bath sheets, all the extras you could possibly need and the light-up jacuzzi was an unexpected and invigorating addition. We had booked an evening meal in The Stables bar. All staff members were busy throughout the evening and we thoroughly enjoyed our three courses and prosecco (thank you chef). A young lady named Emily looked after us. She was smart, efficient, hard working, polite, caring and attentive. She ensured that each course was to our liking and nothing was too much trouble. She had the ability to be open and friendly but always maintained an extremely high level of professionalism which she displayed so naturally. She is such an asset to The Manor. Thank you Emily for making my celebration extra special. (I thought you had a degree in hospitality). After a restful sleep in our magnificent room we enjoyed a hearty breakfast in The Ostler Restaurant. Again, we were catered for with helpful and pleasant staff. This hotel is wonderful. It is quiet and restful, set in picturesque surroundings which is very pleasing to the eye. I can't wait to return next month for my mother-in-laws 80th birthday.

    « Convenient and confortable »

We stayed at this hotel for one evening whilst attended a family event in Alsager. Our room (272) was well maintained and all facilities were perfect for our needs. We enjoyed a delicious dinner in the Stables bar and breakfast in the Oyster restaurant was equally as good. The staff were friendly, professional and welcoming and there was ample onsite car parking. The location was excellent. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.

« Very nice hotel in a country setting »

Nice hotel in a good setting, not far from the M6 motorway. Ample parking, and friendly efficient receptionist. Comfortable room on first floor, although no air conditioning and window only opened a tiny amount. I realise that's for security, but the opening was very small indeed and didn't allow for air to cool the room. Nice breakfast, served quickly and by friendly staff. Good selection of hot and cold options.

During the time i was there, i decided to go for a little sneaky look around the hotel and restaurants..........i was amazed at how extremely gorgeous every where was........lovely decor, spotless clean and definitely very friendly polite staff. We're already planning to book a table for an evening meal there. Well done to all

    « Weekend away »

Stayed here Friday through to Sunday. We arrived and parked up, found space quite easily in the large carpark. Went into the hotel and checked in. The receptionist was very polite, friendly and knowledgeable about the hotel. We were given room 201. Upstairs. Went into the room, it was very spacious, the bed was massive. There wasn't anything I didn't like. It was all very good. We went to the stables bar to eat. I had crispy beef noodles, my husband had steak and ale pie. We both had drinks, it was our weekend after all. The staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. We had a walk around the hotel and back to our room to unpack. In the evening we went back to the stable bar. It was quite busy but we found seats. We are again and had drinks. The evening was good. We retired to bed, I slept very well. Breakfast was served upstairs in the restaurant, that was extremely nice with cold buffet and then hot breakfast. We went out for the day after breakfast, returning mid afternoon. There was a wedding taking place. We went to the pool to swim and sauna. The pool area is missing a jacuzzi, thought it would be a good extra. Saturday night we spent in the stables bar. It was busy because of the wedding. Even though it was busy, the night time was lovely and quiet. I slept very well. I would go again to this hotel. I really enjoyed the weekend.

Just returned from a night stay at this hotel . I have stayed in many Best Western hotels and with regard to location cleanliness and especially friendliness this is probably the best so far . As you walk into the hotel lobby the first impression is one of warmth the decor is comfortable and clean and the girls on reception are friendly and helpful . We were quickly and efficiently registered and told where are room was located now this is where it gets a bit disappointing we had booked a superior room and I found the room very basic and quite small I'm not sure what we were actually getting for the extra money. We had tea and coffee making facilities but if you want more than 4 cups of tea bring your own milk although there is no fridge . The bathroom is small but spotlessly clean with large fluffy towels and a heated towel rail. We used the stables bar and the staff here are wonderful my husband didn't want to use the al la carte restaurant so I can't comment on that but in the bar you can get the usual pub grub which is well cooked and generous . Breakfast in the morning is the highlight of the visit good cold buffet and the hot breakfast is freshly cooked and again generous wonderful. Again the staff here are friendly and efficient. I enjoyed our stay if only the room had been bigger and perhaps more little touches to make me feel I was getting a bit extra for my money next time I probably won't go for a superior room .

    « Little gem of a hotel »

Booked a one night stay whilst attending a function at Keele University. Arrived 5pm, spacious and welcoming reception hall. Very very charming staff checked us in. Double room, quite spacious and modern. Very comfortable bed. Went for a drink in the bar. Great ambulance, friendly and very attentive staff. Real ale, great selection of drinks. Sandwich shared very tasty, needed another pint of Timothy Taylor's. Dressed into black tie and ball gowns and went to get the ordered taxi. Didn't arrive, receptionist genuinely forgot. Huge apology, quickly solved. Returned 11:30pm. Back to the friendly bar and chatted . Great night sleep. Breakfast in the old Manor part of the hotel. Good choice. Went for walk to look at the swimming pool etc. Looked good. Good mix of the old Manor House, stables and new extensions. Wedding that day so had a eat, looked very charming. What a find, will return.

« Another great visit to The Manor House »

It has been a while since i was last staying at The Manor House in Alsager, but i have to say i remain impressed, lovely rooms, friendly staff and some nice real ale (2 hand pumps) and good food. It also makes for a great location being only 6 miles from Stoke and just off A50!

    « Very pleasant stay »

Stayed at the Manor House for one night on business. I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the staff were polite and friendly. I also felt that the food on offer was of good quality and value. If I am in the area again, I would definitely stay here. The only reason I mark it 4 rather than 5 is because there was a rather irritating fan noise that seemed to go off at 30 second intervals all night. I only noticed this when I got in to bed, and given I had been up since 4am, I simply couldn't be bothered to get out of bed. Hopefully this can be resolved. Had reception asked me how my stay was upon check out, I would have mentioned it. All in all this was quite a minor niggle but a little irritating all the same. The hotel grounds are also lovely and the pool is a bonus. Breakfast was also very good.

« Have stayed in many Best western this has to one of best »

Over the year I have had to stay in many of the chain. From the start to the finish it was a very pleasant experience. We arrived early and were checked in the room was clean and tidy. In a quiet location the nights sleep was good. It is a bit remote from other facilitates. The upstairs restaurant was nice when we arrived the music was loud and on request turned down. The portion and not normal bar etc but enough.

    « Fantastic »

Great place to stay, sleep and eat. The food is fantastic we had the steak it was well cooked and really tasty, comfy beds but no air conditioning in rooms, pool for the kids, breakfast is huge and really 10/10, nice staff, big car park and space outside to eat and drink.

    5
    « Great Bar Area »

Great Bar area, we called in for drinks on a Sunday, the wine we ordered was lovely as was the atmosphere, we didn't stay at the hotel, however all the communal areas were very clean. The food in the restaurant that the other guest were having looked very nice and good size portions. I would definitely return for lunch.

    « Amazing Hotel »

We spent a night at this hotel for a wedding. The hotel is amazing. Our room was clean and very comfortable. We used the swimming pool and the sauna. The reception staff were very efficient. We were in room 227 and we couldn't sleep as there was a loud noise like a extractor fan that didn't stop. The night receptionist quickly came to our room and found us another room to sleep in. All done with efficiency. Breakfast was very good. My only complaint would be very minor but there was no tea spoons with cups. A few people were having to ask for them. A lovely hotel with lots of character.

    « Fantastic Hotel »

This is a very smart hotel which is evident as soon as you drive into the grounds, the gardens were very well maintained with good parking facilities. The welcome was warm and efficient and the public areas were very clean and had a quality feel about it, the room was of a good standard and the food was good, I would highly recommend.

« Friendly and comfortable Gold Escape deal »

As always a very good stay, with a warm welcome always confident that the level of service and cleanliness will be exceptional. Just one small hiccup the restaurant is closed on a Sunday evening and meals are served in the Stables Bar I ordered a vegetarian meal of Spinach and Mushrooms in a white wine sauce however they had run out of spinach I suggested they add broccoli instead for me and they did this and the meal was lovely. Another lovely relaxing stay.

« Birthday treat for husbands 50th Birthday »

My husband was brought a weekend away for his 50th birthday at this hotel and it included a three course meal for two in the Ostler restaurant. We had a very warm welcome from the reception staff and was checked in very quickly and efficiently, we were also given a voucher for a glass of prosecco in the stables bar. The room was really nicely decorated and spotlessly clean and not overlooked at all, it was also very quiet which was surprising as the hotel was busy. We decided to eat lunch in the stables bar which was very nice the service was very quick and efficient and the food tasted great, the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We didn't use the pool but again this was really clean. The evening meal in the Ostler restaurant was gorgeous, again the staff were very attentive, the menu gave us a very good selection. The breakfast. The next morning was beautiful. The hotel was very busy and breakfast was served buffet style, the food was kept topped up at all times with about 8 items to choose from, there was also an extensive cold / continental selection. We chose to take a walk in the gorgeous country side around alsager and the reception staff kindly found us a map and route that started from the hotel car park and took over fields to a nice farm shop and local pub. I would recommend this hotel and hope to be returning some time this year with friends for the weekend as the deal is such good value. Free port at talke is only a short car journey away and is also worth a visit for a touch of retail therapy.

Excellent modern, comfortable hotel with a choice of upmarket bar food or restaurant, and a lovely heated indoor pool. Very comfortable room, though a bath would have been a nice option, however shower was hot so no issue. Quiet location close to the M6, so convenient as well.

« Be wary on checkout »

My second stay here. It will probably be my last. I travel for business and have an agency to book all of my accommodation and settle the account. On check out my bill had a charge for accommodation. I pointed out that this was taken care of by account- a fact which was confirmed on check in. Quite sniffly I was told 'there's no indication of that, I need confirmation of you will have to pay'. The confirmation was back in the room so she let me traipse off and fetch it then offered zero apology when I returned with it. No big deal you might think? I work for a large multi national company which looses tens/hundreds of thousands every year to hotels who charge both the guest in front of them who is (unlike me) unwilling to challenge what they are being told or unsure. Of course, the room is paid for a second time via agency. An apology would have been fitting - I shouldn't have to do your receptionists job for her.

« Ruined Silver Wedding Celebration »

Did not stay overnight at hotel. Booked Ostler restaurant for silver wedding celebration. On arrival was surprised our party was only one in the restaurant even though it was a half--term week when people would be going out to dinner. Menu had very poor selection with price supplements on many dishes. One member of party required gluten free food which was made clear to staff. However each gluten free course had to be returned to kitchen because it had gluten foods on plate. No-one in party of 7 adults and two children where satisfied with their meals but tried not to make a fuss because of the nature of the celebration. Young waiter tried his best and was constantly apologising for all the mix-ups.the kitchen made with starters and main courses. This young man was commendable. Following day made complaint to duty manager who offered a free return meal for two. Made the point that we would not want to return to receive the same fare again. Finally negotiated a reduction in the total bill. This was formerly an excellent place to eat and our family have held many special celebrations there but it is now a place to avoid at all costs.

« Birthday night away with family. »

Excellent hotel with friendly staff. Very efficiently run with a spacious reception area and good sized rooms. We had two executive rooms and a family room. Beds were very comfortable. Perhaps a choice of fruit teas and maybe some bottled water in the rooms would have been good. The bathroom was spotless with nice toiletries. The children enjoyed the pool. We had our lunch and evening meal in the Stables Bar. Meals on the special board were reasonably priced and nicely presented. Desserts were alright but not as good as the main courses. Breakfast was good with obliging waiting staff. Would happily stay there again.

    « Works Christmas party »

34 of us went for our Christmas party. The food was very good and so was the service. It came out hot and was served very quickly. The drinks weren't overpriced either . Some of us stayed the night and we all found the rooms very nice and clean. I had a single but found it quite spacious and it did have a double bed in it. Some of us used the swimming pool which was very nice.

    « Great hotel »

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on the way to Scotland and it was just a beautiful hotel..the staff were so friendly and could not do enough for us, the room was large and spotless and the bathroom really lovely. The food in the evening was so tasty and the breakfast gorgeous with lots of choice. I can't recommend this hotel enough.

« Nice hotel in a quiet location »

I like staying here. It has a good feel and is close enough for all amenities , but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Room was clean, warm and comfortable with good selection of tea & coffee etc. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order and is done to a very high standard, complete with Staffordshire Oatcakes. Always a winner !

    « Lunch with friends »

Lovely decor and good choice menu with light bite option two for £12. All four of us had fish and chips, small portions but nicely cooked. Quite busy for a Thursday lunchtime. Would come again. The hotel has a swimming pool and is within walking distance of the railway station and the village of Alsager.

« birthday meal at the Ostler Restaurant Alsager Manor House Hotel »

What a disappointment. My family took me out as a Birthday surprise to The Ostler restaurant as I have been before and had a lovely meal. This time everything was just so wrong ! We opted for three goats cheese souflles .and the thai fishcakes. The souffles can only be described as tiny shrunken omelettes that were so stuck to the cups they were served in it was difficult to eat them, and the fishcake was ice cold in the middle, when the dishes were collected my husband told the young boy the problem who said "I'll tell the chef." For mains we all opted for the "slow cooked shin of beef with shredded oxtail " the proportions were all wrong with two big pieces of meat compared to the smallest portion of potatoes I have ever been served and 2 tiny floppy pieces of broccoli ,two of us had a swirl of gravy and two of us had none. Oh well, surely they can't get the puddings wrong? Oh yes they can! Of the 2 cremebrulees ordered one was obviously burnt on the top and they were like water underneath, we didn't eat them and showed them to the waitress who said "I'll tell the chef". A young boy came back and told us " the kitchen is very hot tonight and that is why they had melted". We did not see a senior member of staff as the whole place seemed to be run by school children, and were not offered an apology or maybe a reduction of our bill. Come on "the ostler " pull your socks up! with so many good places to eat you can't afford to be so lackadaisical.

« Nice hotel for the night »

We were going to the theatre in Stoke on Trent and stayed here because we could walk to the train station and get the train into the city. The reception and bar areas are really nicely presented. The rooms are a little more basic but perfectly ok and there was lots of nice parking. I'd have no problem at all staying here again.

« Lovely hotel, free wifi & pool »

I've stayed here a couple of times on business and both times I forgot to bring swimwear - I must remember for the next time. It's a lovely hotel, plenty of parking, spacious rooms - quality customer service and great buffet breakfast - would recommend staying here for business and pleasure.

    « Great country spot »

This is the second time we've stayed here & ,once more, great place to stay. The staff are helpful & friendly (like most "Stokies") and the accommodation is great value. The large indoor pool keeps the little ones amused & the grub is very good too ! One minor complaint - one of our family group ordered Staffordshire oatcakes for breakfast & there was mould on one of them. Another ordered the oatcakes, to be told that there were none left - that may well be why the earlier one was mouldy, or just a precaution to prevent further complaints. Whatever, a bit of a bad show, not having the local speciality available & fresh they had run our.

    « Pleasantly Suprised »

We selected the Manor House Hotel for an overnight stay en-route to our weekend break in Blackpool. The hotel itself looks impressive, and is one of the nicest Best Western establishments I have seen, with a warm and welcoming feel. The reception area is very clean, modern, and this appearance carried on throughout the hotel and in to our good sized family room. In our short stay we made good use of the swimming pool & sauna (perfect after a long drive) and we had our evening meal in The Stables Bar. Food was very enjoyable, and the bar had a good selection of drinks, albeit at typical hotel prices. Breakfast was reasonably priced (discounted vouchers purchased at check in) with a vast selection available. The only slight whinge for me was the same discounted price applied to both adults & children, and whilst representing decent value for "grown ups" felt overpriced for a five year old. Saying that I would certainly look to stay here again, and for me by far the most impressive feature of the hotel is the staff. Although quite a "young" team everyone we came in to contact with exhibited a professional & courteous approach, especially those working in the Stables Bar who went out of their to engage with our your daughter.

    « Nice Room - Excellent Restaurant »

Room was really nice - the hotel is really nice from reception to the pool and sauna to the nice homely bar area; you'd very quickly think you were in a nice country pub rather than a hotel bar. Initial thought was that this place is a lot better than expected but then we ordered food in the bar... this is when things got better - the service was really good - all of the staff very efficient and friendly - and the food was exceptional. We ended the night on two comfy armchairs in front of the log burner - perfect! Overall this place is a real gem and we will be back soon..

    « A stopover oasis! Can't recommend highly enough... »

On a trip driving from Scotland to the south of England we took our chances and didn't book anywhere so as to see how far we could get on the first stretch. When the traffic thickened on the M6 we decided to bail and looked for the closest hotel... How lucky we were that it was this one! From the very first interaction, the staff were amazingly friendly, helpful and welcoming. The hotel is well laid out, incredibly clean and well-maintained, and has great facilities (the pool was perfect to unwind after so many hours in the car). The room itself was great - king size bed, good bathroom & shower (all immaculate and/or new), and plenty of space for a short stop. There's a bar and restaurant downstairs which was super convenient so it is really self-contained (particularly useful given we were travelling with our young daughter). Can't recommend this place highly enough, it will be on our list for a stop on any future journeys for sure! Thank you to the staff too - the friendliness and kind welcome was hugely appreciated, and set the tone for a great stay!

An excellent place to meet with friends. All aspects of our stay were first class. Hotel foyer was welcoming and well thought out. The bedroom was spotless and very well presented. The bar area was comfortable although I did think the drinks were on the expensive side.We dined in the restaurant and the choice of menu was excellent and very good value at £25 for a three course meal. The choice at breakfast suited all tastes with many healthy options including a smoothie shot. The staff were mostly young and very enthusiastic. We used the pool and sauna and were a little disappointed that there wasn't a jacuzzi. I would certainly go again

« Well exceeded expectations - very good stay »

Virtually everything at this hotel was superb. Easy to find, easy to park, easy to check in -friendly staff. Nice little pool and tiny sauna but it was quiet when I was there so no problems. Good tea/coffee kit in the room - even a little teapot to counter the miniscule cup issue one normally has in hotels!! I had a meal in the Stables bar and it was superb. The barman was very friendly, helpful and efficient - even though he seemed to be doing everything from serving drinks to taking food orders to waiting on - there was no delay and it was very pleasant. Food itself was different, I was spoilt for choice on menu and the monk fish and langoustine scampi I had was lovely and very reasonably priced. Breakfast spread was also very good. Only a couple of minor niggles. The shower was rubbish (but than most hotel showers are!), the toiletries were low quality, the pool changing rooms were a bit grubby - with a huge wheelie bin parked in the middle for wet towels! The staff at breakfast were not great. Two youngsters who clearly had every intention of doing as little as possible and taking as long as possible to do it and a much more efficient, (but clearly overstretched due to her lackadaisical colleagues) slightly older lady was trying to keep everything happening. But as I say - minor points and I would very happily return

« lovely hotel, friendly staff »

stayed here on business, it was not much more expensive than the premier inn and much nicer. I booked the breakfast and evening meal for an extra £30 , well worth it, the evening meal was delicious and the breakfast was good. the belly pork was to die for! The hotel itself is lovely, it has a pool, and I believe there may be a gym in future.. Well done to the staff, friendly and polite, overall recommended to anyone who wishes to stay in the area.

Have used this hotel on numerous occasions due to its location being close to one of my companies offices. Check in smooth as usual. Room booked was a kingsize bed single occupancy with b&b. Bedding and towels clean fresh. Room clean and fresh. I ate in the stables bar. menu reasonable choice at reasonable prices. Breakfast was served in the Restaurant upstairs on this occasion the hot food was buffet style items were well cooked and good quality No issues on checkout. Another pleasant stay as you would expect from a Best Western Plus hotel.

    « Great hotel »

I stayed here on an off for business over the summer. The rooms were very comfortable with plenty of bedding and pillows to choose from. The bathroom is clean with an extremely powerful shower, I was told that the rooms towards the front of the hotel have the best showers, I never stayed towards the back but I heard the rooms do get smaller. The bar and restaurant have a great choice of food, however I would like to say that their triple cooked chips are not triple cooked, as they are not crispy, they are still soft. The bar is quite peaceful, there are also various other areas of the restaurant you can relax in and there is also a free to use pool for the guests. The hotel is in a quiet village, it is about a 15 minute walk to shops and restaurants or 20 minute taxi ride to Hanley (central Stoke-on-Trent) for a better choice of shops and restaurants. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

« Lots of character in places »

Stayed here for 2 nights, the large car park in front was greatly appreciated. What they called a "lift" on the other hand was not as appreciated. It was very small and chose not to work well while we were in it. not sure if we almost got stuck but it certainly felt that way. Used the stairs for the rest of our stay. Ate in the bar the first night and the food was good but it had a somewhat limited menu, which was not unexpected. The next night we ate in the upstairs restaurant and the food was very good there as well with a completely different menu. The breakfasts offered a lot of variety and the only place we had stayed at that offered oatcakes, which are pretty fabulous by the way. The restaurants are located in what used to be the stable of the manor house and the beams and other architectural details are wonderful if you are into that kind of thing.

    « Excellent weekend stay »

We arrived very late on Saturday night. We were swiftly checked-in. Very friendly and helpful staff at check-in. The hotel has a large car park. The room was okay. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very busy on Sunday. The selection was very good, it was buffet. The staff at breakfast were very helpful and polite. Real nice start to the day.We then sat in the lounge for a while. Well decorated and bright. On Sunday we eat at the bar. The food was very nice. Again the service was very good. All the staff were very helpful and polite. Teh only issue was that wi-fi was terrible. You had to reconnect each time, which was frustrating. But we really hadf a lovely time. We will come back to this hotel again, soon.

« No sleep, noisy hot room »

We stayed for one night on a Groupon offer, first impressions were impressive and the Receptionist was friendly and helpful, our room on the first floor was ok but a bit tired and dull, however the biggest problem was the temperature (very warm) The Restaurant was good but lacked atmosphere and the wobbly creaky floors were very annoying. The pool was very nice but you are overlooked by people passing by along a hallway, also the changing rooms desperately needed renovation. When we went to bed the noise from the wedding guests who had congregated in the lobby was intolerable and went on into the early hours, which meant hardly any sleep and more noise about 5am caused by rowdy people in the corridor. When we complained to the manager as to why we had not been given a room away from the wedding, he replied it's noisier? Not offered any compensation, given the brush off by Best Western. Best book Premier Inn, won't be returning

    « Short break. »

This hotel is well presented and welcoming, being a Best Western Plus I was a little disappointed with the leisure facilities, the sauna was very small and the jacuzzi was covered over and had been for over two years. However the stable bar was very accommodating serving reasonably priced food and doom bar real ale. Staff were very friendly.

« Relaxing venue after work »

Only used as a hotel for a spot of working away from home, but thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Bar area is pleasant with decent bar meals. The main restaurant does a superb and reasonable set menu type offering, which had I realised I may have been tempted to each of my three nights. Staff were friendly and helpful and decent breakfast choice too.

    « Nice »

Nice enough hotel. Clean, staff friendly and helpful. Word of advice when booking through other websites... The breakfast is not included and it's quite pricey. (more booking.com's fault as it was worded wrong) Lovely restaurant and tasty breakfast though. A comfortable stay.

    « Great restaurant »

Very enjoyable restaurant. Have been coming here since the 1980s and the old bar has kept its charm. Good food. Great fish and chips. Nice menu and a decent range of wine. Friendly service. Recommended.

    « Very relaxing hotel! »

I've stayed here with work and subsequently for pleasure! The staff were all friendly. The hotel has great facilities including a pool, spa, bar and restaurant, all of which were fantastic. The hotel is ideal for business stays and also for a relaxing weekend. The only downside to this hotel, is that some of the rooms are a little outdated other than that the hotel is perfect.

We were 40 staying for a tour of the Potteries and the surrounding area. We were well looked after and the swimming pool was a bonus, a lovely pool The staff were friendly and caring and the food good. I would stay there again.

« Difficult to find serious negatives »

The hotel is not far from the M6 in a rather forgotten part of East Cheshire , nearly in Staffs I think, on the edge of a small town. I can not say exactly why but at first sight it did not look like a hotel. Anyway probably built 15?years ago and only later I realised that the bar and restaurant part of the hotel was actually quite old , with old beams etc and the rest of the hotel had been built around an older structure. Nice entrance with sliding glass doors into an airy atrium like reception, with lots of comfortable seats. Ideal I would think for a wedding reception or small conference. Room was pretty standard 3 * business hotel type but cleanly decorated with a modern bathroom, The Stables bar is pub like, and a very well kept pint of Landlord bitter. You can eat in the bar or go upstairs to the restaurant, where also breakfast is served. This is also quite a nice atmosphere and quite a lot of young friendly staff. Breakfast was very good and cooked to order with a lot of choice. Nice clean pool , not huge but typical for a hotel, Price Ok for the standard. Nowhere is perfect so just some minor niggles: Although it was a mild evening the radiators in my corridor were on full and could not be turned down so a bit stuffy ( and wasteful) . Pool changing room was very small. It was a nuisance having to pick up a key and towel for the pool from reception as I had to queue up whilst people were checking out.

    « Overnight stay »

We stopped here on our way to the lake district. There was a wedding going on and we were concerned at how noisy it would be and how full the bar. No need for any concern. We had been put in a room on the end of a wing furthest from the function room and the bar (where we had a very pleasant dinner) was big enough for everyone (there is also a separate restaurant on the first floor). All in all a good experience. We'd stay again if travelling north.

    « Beautiful accommodation »

We stayed over for 2 nights, very happy with our stay, definitely intend to return. Staff friendly and accommodating, rooms are small but are well equipped, stylish and modern, very clean. The breakfast is absolutely amazing, 10 out 10, weekend is hot buffet and through the week breakfast is cooked to order, lots of others choices to, can't praise this enough. Well done best Western, gorgeous hotel, we enjoyed our stay very much. We had a meal also in the bar which was delicious.

« Excellent hospitality all round »

Stayed on a Saturday for a private party in the Ostler restaurant, whilst a wedding was taking place in the function room. The staff were very pleasant, friendly and professional, service in all areas was excellent. Our room was extremely comfortable , especially the king sized bed. Despite there being lots of people enjoying different celebrations no where was crowded or overlapped. The Stable Bar was very welcoming with good real ale, the restaurant has very attractive décor and a wonderful atmosphere and the food was first class. An early morning swim in an empty pool and quick sauna was a fantastic bonus.

    « Weekend break »

A very quiet and relaxing hotel for a short stay. The staff were very friendly and made the experience an excellent one. We ate in the Ostler restaurant which was very good. The service was great and food was very good. Our room was very quiet and the hotel is in a lovely peaceful location.

« Still getting even better »

We stayed here for three nights in a comfortable quiet room with a large double bed. We have been staying here for almost twenty years now and the hotel is consistent on comfort, breakfast and cleanliness. This time we were impressed by the upgraded stables bar, we had an evening meal on Sunday and ordered the sharing plate, it is a very good concept and well executed. Happy to see one of our favorite hotels keeping standards and evolving.

Just come back from a one night stay with kids , lovely hotel with a huge reception area , booking in was very quick and informative , good sized room with one double bed one single bed and wardrobe , sofa, table , tea coffee facilities , good sized bathroom with twin wash basin , the indoor pool was a good addition, but to top off this stay was an absolutely fantastic breakfast , buffet style

« One time is good for this hotel »

We were there for our friend's wedding. Its a old style hotel with lots of stairs and no elevator. Smoking outside was freezing. Definitely country side hotel but clean and just okay. I wouldn't go there if there is no wedding or our friends.

    « Birthday Celebrations »

We had the pleasure of an overnight stay in this refurbished hotel. we started with afternoon tea, it was lovely if a little large, we then retired to our room to get ready for our evening celebration, the rooms were comfortable, toiletries were provided. Dinner in the restraurant was outstanding, There were 16 of us, the food arrived & we wern't disappointed everything was exceptional, the Duck was beautifully smoked as was the salmon, the Fillet steak melted in your mouth, the Lamb rump was amazing. We retired to the bar where we had the undivided attention of several very attentive staff. We had a private bar shared only by another birthday party. All in all we had a lovely evening. Breakfast was also excellent. Thanks to the Chefs who prepared our meals the waiting on staff who were very eager to please & especially the bar staff who pampered to our every wish even bring us a nice cup of tea at the end of the evening. Will we be back most definatley.

« Pleasent Stay, would highly recommend »

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst attending my dad's wedding not too far away. The interior of the hotel is lovely with great features such as low beams and quaint little windows. Our room was clean and spacious and the bed was large and comfy. Had both lunch and dinner on the friday in the stables bar both of which were very nice (the pea and broadbean risotto was stunning) however I did find the prices slightly high particularly for drinks. The one thing I did feel was a let down was the slow service at the bar on the Friday even during the day, there was a wedding being held on the same day so there was a lot of customers however I feel that the bar should have been better staffed to accommodate this. Overall it was a very pleasent stay and I would have no problems in recommending it to others.

    « A good value hotel »

Good service in a clean hotel serving good food. The demeanour of the staff added to to the pleasure of our stay. Helpful at check in and attentive at breakfast nothing seemed too much trouble. The demand for a minimum word length for this review is the most annoying part of this experience.

    5
    « A truly wonderful place. »

We had a 2 day break, next time it will be longer. What a lovely Hotel, very professional staff and nothing too much trouble. The food is amazing, there was a wedding and it didn't interfere with our stay at all. We hope to be back in the very near future as the area is gorgeous.

    « Disappointing Sunday lunch - again »

We'd left it a year since our last visit here for a Sunday lunch, for which this place used to be probably the best in the area. Last time we were let down by inexperienced staff, and same this year; this time the food was pretty ordinary too. It used to be such a pleasure to dine here, I'm not sure what's changed but it's to the detriment of the place. We weren't even offered a wine list (though we'd decided on an aperitif and no wine anyway), realised we wouldn't be as the wine glasses were whisked away as we were shown to our table. My husband had a missing fork at his place. there was a mark on the tablecloth where I sat, possible jam from the morning breakfasts.Twice we had to ask for a jug of water, it never used to be this way. I must admit, as we arrived and saw a wedding party I said we'd have poor service as the experienced staff would be busy with the wedding catering, but that's no excuse: Sunday lunch visitors are the bread and butter of this business. To add insult to injury, when we checked our receipt later we'd been overcharged on already expensive drinks. Sorry, we won't be giving them a third chance.

    « Wedding »

We stayed at the Manor house because my lad was getting married there we had three days there what an excellent venue to get married at. The staff at the Manor where always very polite and very helpful with everything you wanted to know or do The first night we eat in the stable bar The food was excellent and well presented. On the morning of the wedding my lad took me to where the wedding was taking place The lady who was the organiser Jo. Came in on her day off to make sure every thing was first class and it was ,they had an MC is name is Frank what a man he ran the show from start to finish laughing joking making everybody relaxe. The food was excellent there must've been 16 waiters and waitresse serving they were fast so we all ate together. In the evening we had a disco resident DJ excellent again dance floor full all night. Next morning at breakfast about 24 people and stayed the night and they had organise that we all sat together. Again plenty of staff and a lot to eat for breakfast first class. My wife and I would like to thank Jack and all his team for lovely three days .We will be back thank you If you are getting married and looking for a venue take a look at the manor house you will not be disappointed.

    « Excellent Hotel, Restaurant & Service »

Excellent stay at Best Western Manor House, room was clean, newly fitted out, excellent bed (king size) and best of all was the restaurant, both the service and the quality/standard of the food was excellent. The manager did his upmost to cater for my wife's gluten intolerance, with attention to detail. Thank-you

    « Warm and welcoming »

Yet another stay at the Manor House Hotel Alsager this time on an escape weekend such good value for money, 3 course evening meal in the Ostler restaurant was superb, nothing is too much trouble, everyone is so helpful, back again in October for murder mystery evening. Whether it is for business or leisure I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The rooms are very spacious and the beds are so comfortable you are always guaranteed a really good nights sleep.

    « 5 star hotel - amazing! »

WOW it looks like you are in the middle of a quiet residential village, which you are - peaceful, yet so close to Knutsford and other fantastic places. Beautiful, modern, clean rooms and very bright and airey when you arrive!. The receptionists are very welcoming and obliging. It's a small but adequate, warm clean room so fine when it's not too busy. It's all one depth and warm, so great for light swimming and relaxing and they give you towels. The Stables bar was out of this world: Great value for money, huge portions and fantastic quality. It it was a nice warm evening, you could sit outside and watch the world go by - plenty of lovely seating with umbrellas (just needs heaters for those cold evenings and blankets then perfect) Breakfast was wonderful upstairs in the restaurant. All fresh and homemade and constantly topped up - just lovely. We will definitely be returning as great value for money, great location, great location and very very good food. I forgot to mention that the beds are huge and very comfortable.

« Good hotel - over eager housekeeping though »

Just one night room 153. Nice hotel, clean rooms, new bathrooms and a nice little swimming pool. Easy parking. Didn't eat there. Really comfy bed which is such a good thing! The big let down and the reason for my "average" rating was the over eager housekeeping banging on the bedroom door at 10:20 which infuriates me. If check out is 11:00 then stay away until 11:00 I don't appreciate being "chased" out of my room that I have paid for! At 11:01 you can come a knocking but not before - that's just rude!

« Mother and Daughter Bank Holiday Break »

This is a First Class Hotel, the food was excellent, the room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, the staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend the Best Western Manor House Hotel in Alsager.

    « Brilliant Swimming Facility »

Brilliant swimming facility especially for younger children. You must become a member beforehand at a cost of £2.50 a month but this allows guests to also join you for a swim. Adults then swim for £3.00 and children for £1.50 pay as you go. Great value and a lovely warm, clean swimming pool.

« A really nice hotel at a good price. »

I found this to be a really nice hotel at a good price. The staff were especially nice and helpful. Unfortunately I didn't make breakfast be I definitely get the feeling it would have been good. I will be sure to stay again when I'm next in the area.

    « Looks good but....... »

This is about the restaurant, only, Nice facilities, good looking bar but the lunchtime food left a lot to be desired at a high price, Monkfish tails was more like cod and the three pieces were accompanied by three scampi's.

    « Nice stay! »

A very good place to have a rest. Excellent structure, nice and clean room and restaurant, good breakfast and kind personnel attending incoming customers. I wish I had more time to enjoy the dinner, which looked pretty promising as well. Strongly recommended!

    « Stay away it's too nice »

I've written reviews on this place before and it just gets better but too many people are discovering it I have to share it with others omg what have I done. It's just a lovely part of the country and with great facilities to host small or large business functions and close to public transport. I travel up from London and it's a welcome relief from the city. It's too late now to keep this place for myself. It's just a great place to work, relax, or as a base to travel around.

    « Wedding stay over »

Absolutely great hotel:) Pros: - all ready fro our arrival (even kids travel cot set with duvet etc) - very friendly staff - very helpful staff (no favor to big) - room spacious and very clean - has a swimming pool Cons: - ground floor corridors nearby pool are very hot and humid. Got sweat just by walking through. As well very hot by reception where we were waiting bride and groom. - booking.com gives better price than the hotel itself

« Nice pool and location »

Nice hotel actually, stayed here for work to break a up a long drive from the south coast to the north west, very pleasant stop over actually. Nice pool to go for a swim in and then a pretty reasonable breakfast before heading off. Got there late at night so no idea about the restaurant or bar. Pool was good though.

« Lovey two night stay »

Myself, my fiance and my family stayed here while visiting the area for my brothers graduation. We had some tesco vouchers to use and decided to use towards the hotel. Originally we were meant to be staying in the other Best Western hotel in the area but there was a problem when booking and then the rooms were no longer available. This was a bit of a nightmare but not this hotels fault however was the call center of Best Western. We got changed to this hotel in the end and we were pleasantly surprised. It was a lovely little hotel with a nice restaurant and bar area. The rooms were clean and a good size with a modern bathroom. They have a pool and sauna (which unfortunately was out of order) which is nice to have. A gym would have made it even better. We ate in the restaurant the first night and did enjoy it. Staff seemed helpful and willing to help. Breakfast is also in the restaurant and again this was good. They have a courtyard area to sit out and have a drink and this was lovely. Would def recommend staying if you have an event in the area.

« Room and reception lovely but oh dear the food »

Had a really special meal last time we stayed here earlier this year but oh dear what has happened. Had to eat in the bar as the restaurant doesn't open on Sunday evening but that wasn't the problem. We had French onion soup which had large slices of undercooked onion floating in a decidedly cool greasy broth. The main was steak pie, excellent chips and lots of well cooked veg but the pie was a separately cooked pie lid on top of the saltiest gravy and beef I have ever tasted. It was completely inedible and to be told that 'it's very popular' when I responded to 'how was it' with the fact that it was salty was not an appropriate reply. What a shame because it is a lovely hotel and well placed for our visits to relatives.

« Diamond Wedding celebration Luncheon »

Very Clean and Modern, Staff most courteous and very helpful. The restaurant was fully booked and the private suite (Ostler ) was occupied by our group ( 21 ) The staff on this occasion were fully stretched , causing delays in service, on commencement of the main course, the plates ( barely warm) were presented then a long delay before the vegetables arrived ( hot dishes ) . If the veg was brought first, they would still have been warm by the time the plates arrived. Another long delay, waiting for the dessert and yet another delay before the coffee arrived. The air conditioning was a problem as it was either far too hot or freezing cold, also contributing to the food going cold there did not seem to be a happy medium. The quality of the food was very good for all three courses. This is intended as constructive criticism and not a complaint,

    « Lovely hotel »

« Great place to make an overnight stop »

Decided to make an overnight stop at the Manor House Hotel to break up the wearing M6 journey. Great decision. The hotel met all our needs. A decent swimming pool. Quality food at a reasonable price and a high standard of care throughout the hotel. Bedroom was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The extensive lounge was quiet and very welcoming where we could relax with a drink after a long drive. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Even a late evening power cut didn't spoil the occasion with the staff quick to arrange candle decorations to supplement the emergency lighting.

    « Enjoyable stay »

Stayed here with a group of friends. Hotel was very nice and the patio area is a nice little sun trap in the centre of the hotel. Enjoyed an evening meal at the stables. The room was fine, as you would expect for this type of hotel. I went swimming in the morning and timed it just right as I was on my own and could do laps. You need to get key for pool from reception for the pool. Breakfast was the only let down but I think that may have been due to staff being extremely busy due to large wedding party. It was Luke warm and had to wait for things to come is toast, butter etc. Wouldn't put me off visiting again though

    5
    « Excellent hotel »

    « Really good value »

We are 6 women aged between mid 40's and mid 60's who love getting together from time to time. We picked this hotel as approx mid way for us to get to. The hotel is lovely light and airy with lots of places to sit and enjoy the sunshine. They even had a blanket box with blankets available when the sun went in. We went for dinner bed and breakfast and enjoyed the evening meal in the Stables. Our room was not large but perfectly adequate for one night. Breakfast was good though the food could have been a bit hotter. We had a swim in the small pool that is not very deep but again adequate, though had we left it until after breakfast for a swim would not have been able to swim any lengths as it was full of children. It was also a pity that the sauna doesn't work. I would stay again and even consider for an evening meal there if in the area

    « Family wedding »

We stayed after a wedding at the golf club, room lovely greeted great by staff, only downfall was breakfast that the younger staff we had to ask for coffee and toast rather than them asking if we wanted it when we sat down, so we had finished breakfast by the time the toast arrived also food was only warm and not hot

    « Very pleasant »

Really nice hotel in a nice setting on the edge of Alsager. Reception bright and welcoming. Rooms good size and comfortable beds. Small bathroom with tiny sink. Problem with the hotel water pressure meant we had a poor shower that day. Breakfast was near perfect apart from a hair on the plate. Nice leisure facilities with excellent pool.

« Excellent & beautiful hotel; very pleasant & helpful staff »

The Manor House is bright, has ample parking, beautiful grounds and lovely spaces. On arrival, Claire at Reception was helpful, patient and friendly. The room was clean and tidy, with much-appreciated tea/coffee facilities. Housekeeping staff, when approached, were helpful and friendly. The swimming pool was warm, albeit on the small side. Had a very generous, hearty Sunday roast: we chose turkey and beef. Again, the staff were welcoming and helpful. Our deal included breakfast. Our cooked English and tea/coffee was brought to our table, and we helped ourselves to the juice, fruit, yogurt and pastry buffet. It was fantastic!! Thank you so much. We thoroughly enjoyed the break, and will certainly be visiting again!

    « A terrific experience »

The hotel was easy to find and from arriving to leaving we were bowled over by our experience. When checking in the receptionist was informative and friendly. She changed our table reservation for the restaurant, as we decided we liked the menu and atmosphere in the stable bar. After taking our things to our beautifully clean room we went back downstairs and took drinks out onto the lovely terrace area. The terrace is beautifully maintained and the garden furniture was very comfortable. After drinks we went back to our room and then down to the bar for our meal. The staff were excellent, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely.we had a peaceful nights sleep, then had a swim in the excellent pool before enjoying the brilliant breakfast. This without doubt is a tremendous hotel in a lovely setting and held in high esteem by the excellent staff.

« Smart hotel in quiet but convenient location »

Took a one night stay with my wife via a Living Social deal. The hotel is very smart and located in a quiet spot but not too far from the motorway network. We stayed in a ground floor standard double room with all the usual amenities. The large bed was very comfortable and there is a free safe to keep valuables etc. Our fist stop was the spa. The pool was warm but quite shallow so, whilst being adequate, was not that good for a serious swim. When we used it at around 4.30 it was also quite busy with mums and children occupying much of it making swimming very difficult. The sauna was also not working to our great disappointment. There is a very smart restaurant which gets quite busy but we opted to use the bar as this is also very pleasant and a bit more homely. The bar manager here was brilliant and looked after us very well bringing drinks to our table throughout the evening. We had starters and mains from the bar menu which was very pleasant and finished the evening with liqueur coffees which were made to perfection. Breakfast is served in the restaurant area which comprises all usual cereals, juices and traditional fayre which we found to be very pleasant. All in all a nice stay. Just a pity that the spa didn't quite reach our expectations but a very good quality hotel overall with very pleasant staff.

« Stables Bar and Restaurant »

Excellent meal tonight at the Stables Bar in the hotel. Really enjoyed the Sunday roast with a pint of Timothy Taylor's after a long drive back from London. The chocolate brownie was the best ! Stayed in this hotel on Friday 8th July have to say we couldn't find any bad points about the hotel.Reception area lovely with pleasent staff, bedrooms really nice with a nice bathroom, the outside seating areas were lovely, hotel grounds were spotless, we ate there at night and have to say the food was top quality.Breakfast was lovely along with the staff. This hotel should be a 4 star bordering on 5 not a AA3.Big thanks to everyone at the hotel, and the General Manager has done an excellent job, up there at the top of our stays a big well done we will be certainly coming back.Brian and Vanda Trainor.( Cheshire)

    « Dishonest reseption »

I phoned the Manor house hotel to enquire if they had a vacancy for a 2 night stay on the 18th June 16 and I asked if there was any party / celebration / Weddings booked for either night. I was looking for a relaxing break and would look elsewhere if the hotel was booked. They said they had a room and there was no wedding / party booked. On arrival I was dismayed to find there was indeed a wedding booked. The receptionist apologised and said we were in an area where no guests would be sleeping. So we decided to stay. We went for a swim and the sauna, the sauna was out of order and the pool was filthy, large amounts of Scum in three of the 4 corners. We went back into the reception area and several bridesmaids were stood one in floods of tears, they asked a passing waitress where room 107 was and she directed then to a room next door but one to ours. The screams and shouts were shocking as was the language. I went to reception and told them we were leaving. The manger said he was sorry and would wright to me once he had spoke to his senior manager. I am still waiting his cal.

« Excellent Hotel, Great food, great location »

Stayed for one night for local business with a group, excellent hotel, meal and quality breakfast. All staff were very attentive and friendly, making it a very pleasant experience. Located just off the A500 so close to access but a nice village location

Really nice room and friendly staff. Great food too. Peaceful and quite enviroment. Takes 5 mins walk to the centre village and 4 mins walk to Alsager train station. Take train to Crewe (every hour) and you can go anywhere from Crewe. Would like to come back if i have a chance to visit England in future

I have stayed here 3 times now, the first two in an executive room, the last in a standard. Everything you need for a business trip. The evening meals, room service and breakfasts have all been above expectation.

    « Relaxing weekend break »

I picked this hotel only because it was half way for us to meet some friends. I have to say what a lovely, clean and welcoming hotel. I couldn't fault anything. The restaurant was a lovely room and the food very good indeed. I would recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.

    « Wedding venue. »

Had a family wedding here at the Manor. What a fabulous all in one venue. The hotel is of a very high standard in all areas, good parking, excellent reception atrium area.Friendly helpful effici ent staff.Rooms clean fresh and functional. The wedding service room was simple but made it feel very personal. The reception room was light, not cluttered, and wheel chair friendly. There are several chill out areas,if you need them, including outside.Imaculate gardens. The hotel has an old world charm, with many original features, beams and bricks.Good bars and beers and ciders. The food was served speedily, and was faultless. The staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, even after the disco ended, they opened the bar and we were able to carry on eating and drinking,no huff an puff. Some of us enjoyed a swim in the pool, others, just relaxed in the chillout areas.Full English and continental breakfasts, freshly cooked, was perfect. The master of ceramonies was ensured all went to plan. In all we had a brilliant wedding,a very big well done to all the staff, and a big thank you.A point to note, one of our guests deals with Corporate entertaining, and was very impressed.

    « Beautiful hotel »

We stayed here as we were having our evening wedding reception at Alsager Golf and Country Club on the other side of the road. It was a lovely hotel, staff were friendly and helpful. We had lunch prior to the reception in the Stables Bar and Grill which is within the hotel. The food was really nice and at reasonable prices. Our room was a good size. It had an iron and an ironing board which was handy as my husband needed to iron his shirt! There's tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The bathroom was compact, but had everything you needed in it. There was a wedding happening within the hotel the day we stayed and I can imagine it being a great venue for a wedding. It's light and airy, lots of space/areas for people to mill around. There's even a swimming pool that guests can use. I'd stay here again if attending a function.

« First class hotel, recently refurbished with beautiful gardens »

Stopped here as an overnight resting place en route from Cornwall to Perth in Scotland. We found the place to be extremely comfortable, the staff were friendly and courteous and the restaurant provided an extensive menu at a reasonable price. It is obvious that a great deal of care has been taken with the gardens and during our visit a wedding was taking place and what a lovely setting for it!

    « One night stay »

Have used this hotel on numerous occasions due to its location being close to one of my companies offices. Check in smooth as usual. Room booked was a double bed single occupancy with b&b. Bedding and towels clean fresh. Room well presented no issues. We ate in the stables bar menu reasonable choice at reasonable prices. Breakfast was served in the Restaurant upstairs on this occasion the hot food was buffet style items were well cooked and good quality No issues on checkout. Another pleasant stay as you would expect from a Best Western Plus hotel.

    « Stables bar »

My mum, boyfriend and myself came here on Sunday evening for a meal we had pre booked a table. It was the first time I had been here and I can honestly say the whole place was very welcoming and inviting. We had a little look round first and it was beautiful and clean and had lovely flowers around the place. Also had a lovely smell around the hotel. We then went through to the stables bar which was lovely the staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. We all enjoyed our evening there and would definitely return I can recommend this to anyone. Lovely night thank you

    « Everything fine except Wi-Fi »

Clean and comfy rooms with good soundproofing (we stayed at the weekend when a wedding was in full flow). Staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking. Breakfast ok. Negatives: dreadful Wi-Fi (0.84 mbps), no mineral water in the room.

    « 3 star hotel with 4 star facilities. »

A lovely hotel in peaceful surroundings. This is a very tastefully decorated hotel. The bedroom was lovely as was the bar and public areas. We were surprised that it was only 3 stars. We ate in the bar and the food was excellent. It was a lovely evening so we were able to sit outside after which was very relaxing. Breakfast in the morning was of a very high standard and presented nicely. Staff were very good and nothing was too much trouble. There is an indoor pool which we didn't use but it looked nice. During our stay there was a wedding on so they did rule the place a bit (like wedding parties usually do at hotels) But there was still room for the rest of us and we quite enjoyed watching them?????? We would definitely return in the future.

    « Surprisingly good value. »

We had a very good 3 night break at this hotel. Our expectation was not high but have to say that we found the hotel provided a very good offering and prices were realistic. The food was also very good value and quality.

« A very nice couple of days »

From being greeted by the very nice receptionist we were treated warmly and friendly by all of the staff, they were very efficient also. The food is excellent, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner there and could not fault the food at all, the service impeccable. The hotel is very bright and airy and has a nice friendly feel to it, it is also very clean as were our rooms, I say rooms as we had to change room on the first night I got a shower and the water leaked across the floor, the receptionist had our room changed and upgraded within fifteen minutes no problem at all. The restaurant upstairs is very nice all quaint and olde worlde and as I said very good food, the bar area also serves food which is also excellent a good range of drinks can be had. All in all a very well run hotel and if we are in the area again will certainly stay there. If I had one minor complaint, my wife tried to go swimming on two occasions but could not due to children's swimming parties. Saying that the hotel does seem to be family friendly which is very nice.

    « Lovely »

Booked overnight stay as we were visiting Chester & then Trentham Gardens next day & wanted somewhere between the two. So glad we booked this hotel as it couldn't have been better placed. The room was lovely with a huge bed that was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on. A dip in the pool after a long day sightseeing was also very welcome. Would definitely stay again.

    « Great Stay »

Stayed for the third time and it was the best of the visits. The rooms were of the usual high standard, comfortable bed, fluffy towels, quality toiletries. The real improvement was the quality of the food and the hotel is obviously benefitting from the skills of the new chef and his team. Highly recommended.

    « Birthday treat »

I booked an overnight stay at this hotel as it was near my husbands birthday and I couldn't have chosen a better place. The hotel is convenient for the M6 and a lovely looking building. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, particularly the reception staff who promptly gave us all the information we required to enable us to enjoy a nice stay. Our room, 102, was really comfortable, a good size with a huge bed and good facilities, even had decafinated coffee. The bathroom had bath and shower, everywhere was very clean and the towels were quite thick. Good free wifi in the room. The pool and sauna were small but very pleasant and also very clean. We booked a table for evening meal in the Stables bar and we're thrilled with the excellent quality of the food. The prices were what you expect for a hotel but they had a good range of food and drinks. The quality of everything about this hotel was spot on and we would definitely come back again.

    « Lovely place »

Stayed here for 2 nights with a group of colleagues. Good, free parking, rural in a lovely village, just off the motorway. Tip....the postcode is big. Sat nav takes you to the middle of it...keep going Rooms are comfortable, showers powerful enough and its nice and quiet. Bars and restaurants are excellent, really good quality food; do take the breakfast There is a nice area in the middle of the hotel, a patio area, that is protected from the wind and a nice place to sit for a drink My colleague is a geocacher and spent early mornings going for a local walk to claim sites....he tells me there are several, within walking distance

    « Wonderful Anniversary Stay »

Booked an evening away here for our anniversary so glad I did. From the moment we checked in everything was wonderful. We could not fault anything, there was a wedding on the day/night we stayed so there was a little noise when we first went to bed as our room overlooked the courtyard but once windows were closed it was fine ( and you can't have a wedding without some noise ) We upgraded to an executive room with jaccuzi bath with lovely relaxing coloured lights worth it if you want something special. We ate in the Stables Bar and food and drinks were excellent as was the service. Breakfast was also excellent so much choice and all very fresh. Service at breakfast was also excellent. If you wanted to travel by train the station is just a 5 /10 minute walk away. They also have some very good offers on so check them out on web site. We will certainly return.

« Our wedding at Manor House »

We had our wedding reception at the Manor House last Thursday 12th May. It was everything we dreamed it would be. From first contact with Jack and then through the support of Joanna we were able to organise everything we ever wanted from the day. On the actual day the staff there couldn't have been more helpful and they made our special day possible. Thanks you very much and we will defenately be back. Monika and Dan

    « An enjoyable stay. »

We stayed for one night on our way back home from Scotland. The hotel is near the M6 and easily found using a Sat Nav. From the outside the hotel looks welcoming. It is well maintained and the gardens and car parks are well kept. We received a good welcome at reception and checked in quickly. Our room was not large but there was sufficient room for the king size bed. The bathroom was compact but the shower was good. The bed was very comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. We had a DB&B booking and ate in the restaurant. The allowance is £25.50 which covers the set price menu. You can select some dishes with supplements. The menu is incredible value. The service was very good and the food fantastic. Breakfast was a joy. There is a good mix between energetic younger employees and experienced employees. They work as a team and together deliver an outstanding service. I will return and recommend the hotel to anyone seeking an overnight stay to break a journey.

    « Ostler restaurant »

Hidden gem; fine dining on the Cheshire Staffordshire border! Gorgeous food, felt very special for our birthday meal. Highly recommended. Lovely bar outside the restaurant as well. We've also eaten at the stables bar and grill which was also excellent. We are getting married here in October, I can't wait if the food will be this good. Thank you

    « Group's Stay at Manor House »

I have just returned from a three night stay in this hotel as organiser of Carmarthen Chamber of Agriculture visit to the area.Having organised our spring visits since 2005 this was one of the best Hotels we have used.Pre stay organisation was superb-thanks to receptionist SAM-sorting out private dinning(we had guests most nights to dinner)room allocation etc. Arrival procedures easy and stress free -cases taken to rooms.Evening meals in the Alsager Suite -high quality ,good menu choice and served by efficient and polite staff. The hotel is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and has good facilities. On the last night the owner's son Jack arranged everything for the final dinner, table sizes, wine selection, menus for the guests etc all efficiently done Thank you Manor House..

    « great wedding venue »

WE attended a wedding here recently, and was amazed on how this hotel has changed since we last ate there many years ago, it has developed into a very good up to date Hotel which cater's for every occasion, be it Weddings or any function you may require, or just guest's staying over, it has very good facilities for everyone, and service to match , we were well impressed.

« Dinner at the Stables Bar »

Friends had originally booked us in The Ostler restaurant upstairs but one member of the party didn't fancy anything on the menu being a "fussy eater" so the staff brought us the Stables bar menu, which was much more in line with what the said fussy eater preferred. They were very obliging and led us to a table downstairs, the staff were lovely and the food excellent and accepted our apologies for changing our booking without a problem. Would definitely recommend and even plan a return visit. Can only rate the stable bar as we didn't stay in the hotel, just went for food.

    5
    « What a nice surprise »

We stayed here for a wedding, so obviously no choice of venue, but I am happy to say I would return out of choice! Our room was very clean and modern. The staff were friendly and helpful - and having breakfast delivered to our room was an added bonus!!!

    5
    « Lunch »

We regularly come for sunday lunch. Friendly happy staff make it nice. The sharing platter will satiate the biggest appetite. Highly recommended and they have a decent pint of doombar which goes down well.

    « Very Comfortable »

Catered very well for a wedding I was invited to. Food was excellent. Room was very got during the night (possibly due to heated pool below?) Hotel was immaculately clean & staff were very polite & helpful. Disabled access throughout.

« Lunch in the Stables Bar »

We called for lunch today, given a warm welcome - hubbie chose the fish (whale) chips & mushy peas I opted for the burger, real chips & coleslaw. Both meals were well presented & served pipping hot, our table was checked twice which was a pleasant experience.

« Stoke Manor House Hotel »

Really pleasant hotel, where we always feel welcome and comfortable. At night there is NO traffic or other noise to disturb your sleep. Breakfast is excellent too. There is plenty of parking space, the building is low-rise and looks attractive.

    « Outstanding value »

All aspects of stay, check-in, room, pool and restaurant were terrific value. Yes it's a bit out of the way and the locality has little to offer but transport links are very close by and for a short business trip there was no need to leave.

    « BW Alsager »

Rural location a few miles outside of Stoke, modern refurb of old manor house, with pool and gym. Liking the contemporary feel of the decor and furniture. Bar has great ambience and all staff very friendly and helpful. We had a very late check in and they still rustled up some drinks and sandwiches for us in the bar after food service had stopped. Most grateful! Didn't use pool or gym facilities. Rooms are fine though not that spacious. Will definitely use again. Nice location esp for warm summer evenings.

    « Great hotel »

I have stayed twice at this hotel recently and both stays were very good. The first time the room was in the older part of the hotel near to the bar and very nice. Talking of the bar, I had a very good meal of fish and chips. The breakfast was of excellent standard. The second time the room was near to reception and equally well decorated. On this occasion I ate in the restaurant. I must say the meal was excellent, a good example of fine dining at a very reasonable cost. My Diamond status was not recognised though so no free drink or snack.

    4
« Brilliant staff, great food and very clean »

I stayed for the night and used the restaurant. Reception were friendly and on presenting my best western card I was offered a complimentary drink and snack, which was nice. The room I was given was spotlessly clean and well decorated and I took myself off to the restaurant which served up delicious food with very friendly and attentive staff. The only fly in the ointment was that I didn't find the bed very comfortable and there seemed to be some type of pump that made a noise sporadically during the night so I think that if I hadn't taken ear plugs I wouldn't have got much in the way of sleep, this is all that stops me awarding five stars. Breakfast was lovely too, I tried the Staffordshire oat cakes which were a nice change. So to summarise, a fantastic hotel with great staff and slightly uncomfortable beds (in my opinion).

    5
« Really nice hotel at a great price »

This hotel was perfect for us as it offered a great location and excellent facilities on site; Breakfast, bar and staff were all excellent and helpful. The Manor House seemed to have all the modern necessities with old-fashioned charms of and older building. Its quite handy where it's based as it's near sports clubs, the train station and the local shops. The rooms are clean generally quiet but hard to locate after checking in especially if it's upstairs and pool looking generally clean.

    « Excellent Hotel »

I stayed here with my Fiancee and daughter for one night over the weekend. On arrival, there wasn't a problem finding a space to park within and after walking through the 'attractive' automatic doors, we quickly found ourselves within the reception where we were kindly greeted by happy, smiling staff members. Having been given instructions for eating for the night and directions to the pool (and bar), we were handed our key to the room which we'd also had detailed guidance on finding. The room was spotlessly clean, modern and offered the bonus of an iron, along with it's counterpart, the board. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and even a teapot were supplied within a useful desk which granted, was mostly used for 'Lady' things, which for avoidance of confusion included makeup and hair 'stuff'. I made use of the flatscreen tv and fiddled with the radio alarm clock for a minute before heading for the bathroom. The Bath/Shower were great with no loss of temperature, toiletries were supplied and again, it looked modern. Arriving around check in time, self admittedly, I naturally bolted for the bar which I had no problem finding after my consulation with the receptionist. Arriving, I asked for the 'F1' to be kindly be put on the TV. "No Problem", said the barman and there I was, sat with a cold pint, content for the next hour....or two. After a pint......or two, I followed my fiancee and daughter to the pool, where I swam... (Splashed around, threw my daughter and supervised unplanned acrobatics). The pool was large enough and although we had the place to ourselves, I couldn't hide my disappointment with how the sauna was unfortunately out of order. I wasn't expecting a sauna before my arrival so can't complain about it. But I am, sort of. The food is wonderful! We found ourselves back at the bar/restaurant later in the evening and treated ourselves to what I'd probably consider the best bar food I've had. Homemade chips! Imagine my surprise when I bit into them and burnt my mouth. This makes a change from the still frozen potato sticks I'm normally served. The sirloin beef dinner I had was honestly excellent. Lovely tender meat and vegetables cooked to perfection. My Fiancee's burger wasn't bleeding profusely but wouldn't have broken a window, had I decided to try. Very well cooked. My daughter was happy with her hand battered fish and chips which I obviously had to sample. Very good indeed. With these important aspects aside, I have to mention all members of staff who were fantastic. They're a credit to the hotel and I can only imagine help go some way to providing the great place to have a break away. I'd have easily stayed another night if I could have. Thank You!

    « Absolutely Outstanding! »

As a late birthday getaway my partner booked last minute to go to the Best Western Plus Manor House. After reading all the amazing trip advisor reviews I had no doubt it would be a fabulous stay. As a young couple I would definitely recommend but the Manor House caters from any age group. An outstanding stay. The rooms are beautiful, we are only in a standard due to late getaway so I can not imagine what the deluxe rooms are like! The staff are all very helpful, kind and enthusiastic. The food was out of this world, we also had a great time in the swimming facilities before dinner. Recommend to everyone! We will be back again in no time! Love this place :)

Staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful. The food is really good and as a vegetarian nothing too much trouble, I ordered off menu. My Husband is a meat eater and very happy with the food. We are frequent travellers and this hotel comes out with an Excellent. just a thought, when hotel is busy as on out first morning there was a breakfast buffet but this morning when it was less full breakfast was served to order.

Stopped 1 night with colleagues before a meeting. Excellent hotel and facilities, staff very professional. Rooms and bathroom as you would expect for a 4 star. Only issue was logging onto wifi, but eventually sorted out.

« Lovely relaxing night away »

Booked this hotel on the reviews on tripadvisor. Just needed a night away not to far a drive. We arrived and was greeted warmly by reception and was given our room. Unfortunately and not down to the hotel, the previous inconsiderate smoking guests ignored the non smoking signage and smoked in the room. Being non smokers it hit us as soon as we walked in. Reception changed our room straight away apologising unreservedly for the trouble explaining that they do what they can to remove the smells from the room but sometimes it does linger. It wasn't their fault just a shame that smokers can't consider hotel rules and other guests following them into their room. We had dinner in the stables bar which was superb. The staff again were lovely and attentive and there was a great selection to choose from. Top marks to the chef and his team it was cooked to perfection and was presented as you would see in a restaurant not just in the hotel bar. The hotel has a lovely pool, not really big but enough for a swim on our night away and breakfast served in the main restaurant was lovely. It's buffet style and really really well prepared. For a spur of the moment night away we picked a great choice of hotel and will definately be returning again in the future.

« Great hotel in lovely location. »

I took my two daughters to stay at this hotel as we were attending a family party nearby. The hotel was bright and welcoming and the room and bathroom was very clean. We really loved the pool and made good use of it! Stables restaurant was well-appointed and offered a good variety for breakfast. Staff were helpful and friendly. Will definitely be going back.

« Excellent, will come back! »

Stayed for just the 1 night and had room upgrade. Room very clean and plenty of room with nice decor. Bathroom particularly nice. The hotel in general appears to be well maintained and there are some nice outside seating areas for when the weather warms up! Unfortunately we could not try the main Ostler restaurant as it closed on a Sunday night but we did eat in the Stables Bar and found the food very good and freshly prepared. Breakfast was also very good with a buffet bar for cereals, fruit etc.. but cooked breakfasts were cooked to order which is excellent. All the staff we encountered were all very polite and helpful.

    « Good Find »

We only spent one night here but the room was clean and modern. There was a wedding here but there was no rowdy noise to worry about. If you are concerned about function noise just mention it when you are checking in and I am sure the staff will find you a quiet room. There is a nice restaurant and bar area to have a drink in.

Have just returned from an overnight stay and murder mystery night with 4 course meal. This was our second murder mystery experience at the Manor House Hotel. Everything again was fantastic even got a room upgrade to the bridal suite. Food was wonderful, couldn't fault the room and its cleanliness. Such a warm and friendly place with friendly and helpful staff .Rounded off this morning by a great breakfast and the added satisfaction of finishing third in solving the murder mystery. Will certainly be returning again later in the year for the Halloween Murder Mystery night.

« Good value and nice little pool »

Enjoyed a weekend, a few of us staying for a family 'do' nearby. Friendly, helpful staff, bedrooms big enough and a nice location. Beds large and very comfortable. The pool was great for those of us with children. We liked the breakfast choice and beautifully decorated dining room. Will definitely stay again.

    « Lovely stay »

Clean tidy and modern, lovely hotel. Room was nice, only thing I didnt like out of the whole stay was we had 2 pillows each, 1 was nice and comfy, the other was too hard - and you need 2 pillows so we both woke up with a crick in our necks! I'd stay again but ditch the hard pillow and make do with 1. The bar area was nice, wine priced good and the restaurant we had breakfast in was very nice too. We took a taxi to an italian romazzios which was good. All in all, I would recommend and would go again.

Excellent hotel in great shape. The bedroom was lovely - well decorated and a fantastic modern bathroom. « A pleasant week-end »

This hotel provided a comfortable room and facilities for a week-end stay. There was a warm welcome as we arrived, and the helpful staff ensured that we were well looked after. The restaurant served good food, with a reasonable choice of dishes on the menu. It is conveniently situated on the main road just outside the town, and has its own car-park. Good value for money

« Amazing place helpful staff »

Lovely room helpful staff who upgraded us and moved our room so we would not be disturbed by a function. Public area were inviting. Room was clean and had good facilities. Although we booked a family room for 3 adults the room was only had two glasses and two cups and saucers. Restraunt was pleasant and staff helpful at breakfast time. Would definitely recommend and will revisit. Worth looking out for deals with dinner and breakfast.

    « Wonderful!!!! »

I booked a Wowcher deal for myself and spouse (on the basis of the excellent reviews from fellow Trip Advisors) and we weren't disappointed! In fact our "overnighter" exceeded our expectations: 1) We had fun and enjoyed the warm indoor pool; 2) We had a delicious meal in the Pub/Restaurant 3) We also enjoyed a wonderful breakfast (and attentive service) in the lovely Opus Restaurant. We can honestly report that from the warm welcome from the lovely receptionist to the uber-attentive staff throughout the hotel, it's impossible to find fault with this lovely hotel, plus its SPOTLESS and extremely welcoming. It's also obvious that management undoubtedly must be excellent because without exception all staff we encountered appeared happy and content - how refreshing! Importantly for us guests though, they were happy to serve and obviously took pride in their role so a massive "well done". To sum up, don't hesitate to book, you really won't be disappointed. We'll definitely be returning given half a chance :)

« Went for Splosh & Nosh in half term, will definitely go back the staff and food were both amazing. »

We had over an hours swimming followed by a lovely lunch near to the log burner. Even my very fussy daughter ate everything on her plate. I have an allergy and the staff could not have dealt with my request for a dairy free meal better. They were very well trained and motivated to make sure that we all enjoyed our visit. Will certainly go again.

This is one of the best hotels I have had the pleasure to stay at from start to finish. The staff where extremely helpful and very pleasant, everyone seemed happy to be there creating a very friendly atmosphere, the food was also excellent particularly breakfast. Will definitely be returning to this hotel!

    « Valentine's Dinner »

A Sunday evening, we decided to take an elderly couple with us as we have done now for some years. This time revisiting the Manor House. Last time, three years ago the hotel did not have a lift and it was difficult as one guest is over 90 years old and has mobility problems, that is now solved with a brand new state of the art lift. In fact, the whole place seemed pleasantly updated and exceptionally clean more so than a lot of superior establishments! Our dinner (restaurant on the first floor) was excellent quality with good service at all times. An introduction with a Buck's Fizz in the bar (also refitted), I asked for a refill this was added to the bill. We were seated around a large round table, (the dining room is in an older part of the hotel) to start two of us had scallops, generous helpings and perfectly presented. This was followed by cod in a curry sauce (as recommended )and was perfectly prepared. Compliments followed from the other guests who ate pork medallions with sticky sweet cheeks, and lemon sole for our 90 year old (who couldn't eat it all and insisted taking it home, it was returned to him wrapped in foil shaped like a cockerel, most amusing excersize). Sweets and coffee again first class, house wine Chile Merlot £15.75 a bottle and perfectly adequate. Dinner for four including tip £160.20. Good value. You can pay an equal amount elsewhere for mass produced muck!

    « A good stay »

We have stayed at this hotel a few times and rate it very highly in all areas. On this occasion I stayed on my own and sadly the only let down was the hard bed maybe because it was a single room. Other than that could not fault the stay.

    « Stables Bar & Grill »

Visited Stables Bar & Grill last weekend for lunch. Made to feel very welcome by Gill, Mary and Jack. Always a lovely atmosphere in the bar, and the staff are fantastic. Lunch was delicious. The chilli cheese bratwurst was divine, especially with the side of Parmesan Truffle fries. Finished with a dessert of chocolate brownie, ice cream and chocolate sauce along with a cappuccino. The food was really well priced for the great quality and presentation. The menu had a really good selection, along with some specials on the board that sounded equally delicious. Another fantastic visit. Can't wait to return!

« 8th year of stopping at hotel and i have seen vast improvements over the years »

great location for motorway and train links. Large free carpark, wifi can be hit and miss! breakfast good choice and well cooked. Some staff though can be not friendly, they are not rude, but not chatty and could do with a smile. Can be expensive if you don't get a good deal for what you get for your money. Will be back again several times this year,

My partner and I called in for a meal at lunchtime. There is the Ostler Restaurant upstairs but we decided to sit in the wonderful bar area as they had a roaring log fire lit.The service and the the food was first class.

    « Pleasant and peaceful »

My husband and myself visited this hotel in late December 2015. From arrival to check out we found the staff to be friendly, attentive and professional. This is not a large, grand hotel but intimate and charming. Our room was comfortable and clean with all the usual offices you would expect. We found the hotel to be quiet, even though there was a private reception on the evening of our arrival. We spent a pleasant interlude in the heated pool, which whilst not large, it was more than adequate. We did not eat dinner in the resturant but had breakfast in the Stables dining room and it was very cosy and attractive. I choose haddock with poached egg, rather than the full english which my husband had and we both agreed that they were delicious. The choice for breakfast was inviting, including regional oat cakes. Our table waitress was helpful and attentive. No complaints whatsoever and would stay again.

Stayed here on a sunday evening in february. Throughout our stay everything was top class. Friendly and quick reception, lovely large room (small bathroom but well appointed and perfectly suitable), food was superb, enjoyed the pool and sauna and peaceful at night. Highly recommend to anyone. Convenient for access to M6 and many tourist destinations in the area.

Had a one night stay and really enjoyed the hotel. The room and facilities were very good and food in bar excellent. My only little niggle was the breakfast could have been hotter. The waiter serving was a bit slow and by the time I sat down to eat my breakfast was luke warm.

« 1 Night Stay after Christmas Party »

We had our Christmas party at the hotel so I decided to stay over. (Not far to crawl to bed) I had a lovely big room, very clean and got a good nights sleep in. I had a speedy check in on arrival and all the staff were helpful. Will definitely stay again and look forward to returning to try the food in the bar.

« Fantastic "Manor House Escape" »

My partner and myself stayed last Saturday night on the above deal basis (we have stayed before). Cannot recommend highly enough - The room, although a compact double, was great, leisure pool very relaxing and the evening meal in the restaurant was to die for. As a point for constructive feedback, we feel that the format for breakfast perhaps needs to be looked at as the poor chap serving up the buffet food had to keep leaving his station to muster fresh supplies from the kitchen - saying that though - the breakfast food was great.

    « lovely hotel »

Stayed for three nights on a weekend break with my husband, check in was quick and first impressions of the hotel were good the room was nice, bathroom was small but immaculately clean, all the staff were pleasant and very helpful, we ate in the bar on two nights and the food and service were both excellent, used the pool which was a nice size and temperature only other leisure facility was a small sauna, it could do with a steam room or a working jacuzzi but overall facilities were ok. we enjoyed our stay and would definately stay again.

    « accessibility to M6 »

Stayed here as accessible to M6 after new year with family. Grandchildren stayed one night and enjoyed swimming pool. Convenient for a set of parents to pick them up to return to Birmingham. « Janet's leaving Do »

I organised a leaving party for 65 people, 20 staying over, everyone commented on the excellent food, staff and venue. With that many people there is normally at least a couple who are not happy. This is a first. Cannot recommend enough. Thank you to all the staff at Manor House Hotel for making it a memorable evening.

« Excellent show and stay over »

We stayed at the Manor House Hotel on 27th December for their Soul and Motown evening. We arrived at 2pm and were checked in quickly and efficiently, having deposited our belonging in our room we made our way to the bar and enjoyed a few drinks before returning to the room to relax before the evening show. Prior to the show we were provided with drinks in the reception area,we were then shown to the room where the show/meal was being held, the meal was very good, well cooked and very tasty, the wine we had pre-ordered was waiting for us in ice buckets on the table, service throughout our stay was excellent from all members of staff. The Soul/Motown act was also excellent as was the disco. No real negatives about our stay, room was too hot and we had to turn the radiator off (easily done),on arrival we had to pay an£80 holding fee on a card and on checking out we then had to pay an additional £59 (room rate) both amounts were taken out immediately from my bank account, the £80 eventually went back in to my account some 9 days later,a bit annoying but not the end of the world. All in all a nice evening out and I would stay there again.

Went to the Manor House for New Year's Eve and had a fabulous night. The food was gorgeous and served very efficiently by all the friendly waiters and waitresses. Staff, room, dinner, breakfast everything was the best you could wish for. The food both at dinner and at breakfast was of best quality and extremely well prepared. Waiting staff were attentive and informative whilst not imposing on our meals. Certainly the staff should be commended for their helpful and pleasant attitude.

« Gorgeous hotel, not sure about some of the staff »

This hotel is beautiful, tasteful spotlessly clean and serves the most beautiful generous breakfast i think i have ever had anywhere. The woman serving breakfast could not have been more helpful, kind and accommodating. It has a great little swimming pool and sauna and although the changing rooms are a bit old fashioned they are spotlessly clean also. The only thing we didn't like was the reception staff team. They were very difficult to deal with, patronizing and insincere. On arrival the receptionist didn't look up from the computer until she had finished what she was doing presumably, very difficult about our groupon voucher i felt like going home. Word of warning print off your Groupon so they can keep it for their accounts.

    « Reliably excellent »

    « New Years Eve »

Stayed at this hotel on new years eve 2015 and had the finger buffet meal. Food was good, free glass of bubbly on arrival to the dining area and good atmosphere.Hotel room was lovely, clean, modern, comfy bed and newly refurbished. My only criticism was the the breakfast the following morning, I accept that the hotel was full but they should have considered this when they employed a handful of staff all youngsters, they were constantly running out of food, i.e. sausages, bacon, eggs, the tea, coffe my wife and I ordered took 20 minutes to arrive and I had to ask for my toast 4 times, when it finally arrived I had finished my breakfast so gave it to the next table save them waiting for there's. I'm not blaming the young staff, they were rushing around trying their hardest to serve everyone, the problem was there was just not enough staff. A very disappointing ending to a reasonable nights stay.

    « Birthday treat spoiled »

I booked this stay for a surprise treat on my wife's 50th birthday, we arrived to be told the restaurant was closed, when I questioned this I was told that the information on the website was 2 years out of date. I thought you might have thrown the wine in for free as a bit of compensation but we were offered nothing when we complained. WIFI did not work & heating was very noisey at night.

« Great local hotel, amazing breakfast »

Staff Local, professional, friendly and helpful to a one. A real pleasure. Room Large, clean room, with comfpy bed. Really liked the padded head board for TV watching or reading in bed. Good work desk and work chair, plenty of power points and a flat screen TV that you can plug your computer into. Bathroom was a good size and well lit. Really liked the mirror which was lit & heated, great for shaving after a hot shower. Bar I didn't eat in their restaurant, I did eat and drink in their bar. Great to see some real ale on tap, often hotels only have lager. The bar food was excellent and well priced. I had a soup, followed by shin of beef for about £14. The bar had some character, wood burner, good quality furniture, etc. Breakfast This made the stay for me. Usual selection of buffet items, and a COOKED TO ORDER hot breakfast. Poached eggs were spot on, bacon, sausages, black pudding were all of a good quality, and you could get a local oak cake too.

    « Christmas do »

large car park, Pleaseant surroundings, but that is where the good things end. The table covered in streamers classes cups for coffee for a starter. The table was very overlaiden. Fortunately we could clear to a nearby window sill. They failed to clear the side plate and the table was ladder with cracker ends. when it comes to food, it's style over substance. To start salmon mouse in smoked salmon. Bland. no seasoning no taste at all. Veg soup again no seasoning. The duck I'm not sure how they did it but sous vide duck was rubbery. The potato rosti? I think it was a rosti? Was chewy and rubbery bluntly reheated and poorly done. The only thing that was average was a Christmas pudding. Disappointing and Deffinnately a humbug rather than a humdinger

    « Pleasant Christmas party »

We used to use the Manor House a lot a few years ago. Gradually it went down & down. Our last time was a couple of years ago after a disastrous boxing day lunch. At the time we didn't, in our view, get enough response - just an apology. An apology does not put things right for the customer. We didn't go back, and told others of our bad experience. Reading recent reviews it appears the same thing is happening. Management are 'apologising'. The only way to keep customers is to put things right! So, we were not completely looking forward to a christmas party we were invited to attend, especially knowing it would be very busy. However - only one complaint - not bad for a busy night. That was the long wait for vegetables to arrive. My hot plate with salmon was cold by the time it came to eat it. Spoiled. Red hot sprouts and one cold roast potato and cold salmon don't go. However you could tell the salmon and sauce was probably very nice. The soup was gorgeous, the lemon pudding ok. Seems the food was on the whole very nice, staff pleasant, hotel nice. Not so bad for a busy christmas party and glad we went. However it is up to management not just to apologise, but to get things right. Daren't risk boxing day lunch again yet, but may just start to pop in again. My worries forThe Manor - regarding a review re the sauna being out of action, and management thinking it's fine not to mention it to a guest who has booked especially because of the facilities, and then also to demean their comments in the oublc domain. Poor customer relations. That guest would not have been half so upset if it had been explained to them at the start of their visit. Easy. Instead they became upset and had to air their feelings because they didn't feel appreciated as a guest. We didn't feel the need to complain on our night, understanding what the apology would be - busy - and therefore don't expect an apology now. Just want to hopefully point out a few factors to all to aid progress of this hotel which could become a leader locally after the recent money spent.

« Very dissapointed with our Festive Christmas Sunday Lunch »

My wife and I visited The Manor House for Christmas Sunday Lunch last Sunday. Very disappointed. We booked for 12.15 p.m. as they were busy with party bookings. The bread roll so hard, convinced it was a left over from the previous day ? and as the first there were served that. The main course arrived but to save time the vegetables were served in a dish to help yourself from. There was one small piece of broccoli between two, and five sprouts no bigger than my thumb nail and dark coloured. My wife had two and I was left with three microscopic sprouts. I complained that I was disappointed to pay all this money for three tiny overcooked sprouts looking again like left-over's and cold and no broccoli for one of us. The waitress brought us a new dish of vegetables ? nice, hot green sprouts and broccoli which should have been served in the first place. My coffee arrived ? in its coffee pot. First cup OK, second like mud ? totally un-drinkable. Then where were the mince pies listed on the menu as an exchange for the soup course ? no mince pie to be replaced with a mint. The whole experience for our festive dinner was a total failure ? and cost us dearly for that. I complained when I went to pay ? we do apologise ? complained to the restaurant manager ? again apologies but apologies were just not good enough. My wife and I had spent a lot of money ? we had looked forward to the occasion all week and felt totally let down with a dismissal of apologies without any offer of putting a bad situation right for long outstanding customers. This is not the first time in recent months I have had to complain ? apart from a number of occasions when we have had rock-hard bread rolls, the beef was like old leather boots to be left on the plate and looking around ? so were many others dining that day. Again ? complaint was met with an apology but no offer at all of compensation. My regret was that I should have paid only half of the bill and walk out as totally disgusted not only by the meal ? but even worse the lack of concern in as much that they considered that an apology would suddenly make a bad situation right. « Restaurant review »

My girlfriends sister, her husband, their 4 year old child and myself were booked in at the restaurant at 7pm. The waiter took our order, including drinks choice and we asked if the young one's meal could be brought with our starters. After 20 minutes there was no sign of drinks or starters, although we were given an amouse bouche. When we asked if the drinks were ready the waiter informed us they had lost the drinks order and we would have to place that again. We eventually got our drinks but the starter was still another 15 minutes arriving. The food, both starter and main was nice, and we were too full for pudding. Given that it took almost 40 minutes to get our starter and that they lost our drinks order was mis-placed it would have been nice if they had offered us a token of apology, maybe 10% off the bill, but this wasn't forthcoming, which was a little disappointing given we spent over £130. On the plus side, staff we friendly, surroundings are pleasant and my girlfriends family (who were staying at the hotel) said the place was spotless.

    « Wedding »

Had our wedding here the middle of October. We had a lovely day, there were a few hiccups before that made me nervous but I needn't have worried. The waiting in staff were excellent and catered for all our needs. The hotel was clean and it was an all round great environment. Having grown up in Alsager I always bypassed the manor for a venue but I wouldn't hesitate on coming to future events here. We had the time of our lives! Frank the toastmaster was wonderful and kept things going smoothly! A lovely day had by all!

« Return to an old favourite »

Until four years ago we had many return visits to The Manor House as we visited family in Cheshire. During the last few visits, standards started to slip and we stopped coming, preferring instead to use Cranage Hall and BW Pinewood on Wilmslow. We decided we'd return to The Manor House for a couple of nights recently to see if things had improved - and they certainly have! The new owners have overseen major refurbishment of the hotel which was long overdue and the planned new spa will move the hotel into another league. We shall certainly look forward to returning again soon.

« Spa not working facilities »

We checked into this Hotel for one night as we were meeting friends that live near Alton Towers. The reason we booked this hotel was only due to it's leisure facilities we asked the receptionist to arrange a taxi for us so we could both enjoy the break we don't get away very much. We checked in went to the bar ordered food drinks and everything was going very well we then went back to the room to get our swimming things asked at reception for towels for the pool we still wasn't told that the leisure facilities weren't working. Got undressed got into the pool then wanted to so into the steam room which wasn't working at no time were we told that it wasn't working. I was so upset that I hadn't been told they weren't working I would have never got into the pool in the first place and wouldn't have stayed as it cost us £88 for the room we were then paying £70 in taxi fares to meet friends all because of the facilities. I complained to the manager and said that we wanted to check out and get a bed and breakfast for £50 as this was all we were in fact getting. He agreed to refund our room rate but said that we had to pay for the food etc. which I didn't have a problem with . I never ever complain or write reviews on here but feel really upset about not been told. Even as I was checking out another customer checked in for the leisure facilities and still wasn't told they weren't working. Obviously I know they can't be held responsible for breakages but would have been so much happier if I was informed.

« Things have changed if your dining here »

Whilst the food remains excellent here a couple of changes have slipped in, which don't really do this venue any favours. For example staff no longer serve food at the tables on Sundays when we visited. Food is simply 'plonked' on the table with no explanation. Such as shame as this was a positive feature. And such a waste of excellent staff who can be seen 'waiting around', with nothing much else to do. Another big let down is sudden charging for tea and coffee following Sunday lunch. This used to be part of the meal a month or so ago. A bit 'sneaky' perhaps, as one coffee is now £3.00 a cup! Surely it would have been 'good practice' to point this out when requested?? Still a lovely venue with nice food and well-trained staff. BUT austerity seems to be biting here too ... such a shame!

    « Comfortable and clean »

« locals come to eat, drink & swim »

This hotel is tucked away in a very quite part of Alsager. Nice large rooms, rather bland, but nice. Clean and quite. Staff seemed friendly enough. There is a swimming pool and but no gym. And it has a good restaurant, which the locals seems to frequent.

    « Our perfect wedding! »

We had our wedding here in October. The Manor House did us proud. The ambience and service was out of this world. We hired Frank as our toast master and he helped see us through the day. My husband and I had the time of our lives. The food was great and it really felt like we were King and queen for the day. The only thing that we found disappointing was that our cake was cut up without it being announced so not many people had a piece. We also asked for the bottom tier to have half saved and that didn't happen either. We did have a blast though and would recommend this place to anyone.

Stayed while away with work for 2 nights, and can't wait to return. The staff are so nice and friendly. I have being once before, this time i got a newly decorated room with a new bed, it really was nicer then the one I previously, if they continue with this look in the halls and rooms elsewhere they will be on to winner. The changing rooms for the pool could do with a refurb. The pool is nice, especially in the evening when you can see the starts through the roof. I normally stay at a different Best Western when visiting my Stoke offices but now I will just be using this hotel going forward. I would recommend it to anyone.

« Lost it for us now »

Been using the manor for quite some years now but such a let down this time. We go as a family 6 of us, can't fault the room as it was spotlessly clean, the downside is the meal, service was awful had to keep asking for things, and 2 of the desserts were forgotton. The starters were ok but nothing brilliant, main meal was awful, the lamb was tough, 4 of us had this and we all left most of it, I took mine home for my stray cat, the vegetables were undercooked and tasteless, the' boozy' sherry trifle hadn't seen the sherry and the espresso crème brulee was terrible, one of the party had fillet steak and he did say this was good but he had to pay a £5 supplement. The cheese board now has a £3 supplement but the quantity of cheese on it has been reduced. The overnight stay has gone up in price and includes a glass of Prosecco and free sunday paper (can't believe the numbers I am collecting of the back of the mail had been used off mine, someone at the hotel must be collecting them!!!) anyway back to the review definitely not worth the money now, such a shame as we used to love it.

My husband and I decided to treat our son and daughter in law to the Halloween murder mystery night with overnight stay. I upgraded our room to exec which we've stayed in before many times, fabulous well worth the extra £20 and my son was in a lovely double next to us. We all really enjoyed the evening with fabulous food and a brilliant murder mystery. Our table won which was the icing on the cake. Lovely lunch too. We can't wait to stay again and we'll definitely be booking next years Halloween.

    « A great hotel »

I've used this hotel in many occasions so can speak confidently on all aspects. The hotel is on the edge of the village with good access to the M6 but sufficiently far away to cause no noise problem. In the last couple of years the hotel has been refurbished to a high standard with very clean, modern and well equipped bedrooms with free internet. The bar is large with a good selection of beers and food. Alternatively you can dine in the restaurant which is nicely furnished and has a good menu. Although rated a 3 star it's very much at the top-end and I can thoroughly recommend a stay for business or pleasure.

I've stopped at the Manor a couple of times in the last 12 months and it is a very pleasant hotel with a good all round standard. The rooms are a good size, well equipped and comfortable and the hotel facilities are excellent with a very good bar which unusually for a chain hotel has a couple of real ales on. The upstairs restaurant is also very good with an exposed timber roof adding to the atmosphere. There is a very pleasant indoor pool and the outside seating areas are beautifully done. All in all, highly recommended.

Really relaxing stay. Very friendly staff and very helpful. We had tea in the bar (excellent food). You can choose the bar or the restaurant to eat in. Breakfast is served in the restaurant, there's a lot to choose from. Went for a swim in the indoor pool before breakfast and checkout was at 11am. There is a village within walking distance. I would have liked to stay longer. I will definitely go again.

A good venue for a wedding, although no sleep for residents until the music stops! Spacious rooms, benefiting from a recently completed refurbishment. Good food, good service, ample parking. Management were far more helpful than some of the staff.

    « Very nice hotel »

Stayed here for two nights whilst visiting the potteries. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Restaurant good choice and very convenient. Would definitely stay here again should we be in the area. In house swimming looked very nice although we did not have time to swim.

Clean, comfortable rooms. Good breakfast, but a menu would have been helpful as we weren't made aware of all the options. Tall customers need to keep their heads down in the restaurant which has low beams every couple of yards!

    « Excellent wine & service »

We recently moved house to live in Alsager Town & to take advantage of it's many amazing shops, cafes, bar's restaurants & many other amenities. Tonight we walked to the Stables Bar at The Manor House Hotel to sample the wine which proved to be excellent value with pleasant surroundings & polite & welcoming staff....we will be back.

    « Excellent Stopover Choice »

If you are travelling on the M6 and looking to break your journey in this area I doubt you could do better than this hotel. The rooms are clean, reasonably sized and with great big comfortable beds. The public areas of the hotel are very attractive, the staff are helpful and courteous. An evening meal in the bar was good, we didn't eat breakfast. Really excellent value for money.

    « Ideal Stopover »

Booked this Hotel as we were travelling from North Devon to the North West and had to break the journey, this was the ideal place. The receptionist was very efficent and friendly, and was willing to use her computer to find a Museum I believed was in the area. The room I was allocated was clean, well maintained and quiet, although it overlooked the rear courtyard were deliveries where made. The breakfast menu had a great selection, a large choice of cold/continental items, and Hot breakfast selection, that was served direct from the Kitchen and I would say was all freshly cooked. My wife enjoyed the use of the swimming pool prior to breakfast.

Stayed here on 21st for a conference I was attending in Stoke. Very friendly reception staff on check-in. The room I was given (150) was out of this world. Huge bed, proper seating area to watch TV and one of the nicest bathrooms I have ever seen. I was torn between a huge jacuzzi bath or walk-in shower, so had to make sure I used both! Breakfast the next morning was extremely nice, and served in a fabulous dining room.

    « Definately return »

Last minute booking as the builder hadn't finished the house. Rang the hotel direct expecting to pay £99 B&B for the two of us plus book a table for evening meal only to be informed by the very helpful lady I spoke to on reception that it was a Manor escape night. Not having an idea what she was on about led to thoughts of murder mystery weekends flashing through my head, thankfully it was nothing of the kind. She said that for £89 we could enjoy B&B and an evening meal, RESULT. Upon arrival we were greeted by a cheerful and very helpful receptionist who sorted our room double quick and explained where the pool was, where the restuarant was for the evening meal and breakfast and even asked what Sunday paper we would like in the morning. The lady went for a swim in the afternoon whilst I retired to the bar to try a pint of real ale and watch the rugby. The evening meal was superb, I had the haddock followed by pork medallions, wife had melon followed by chicken, and the young but polite, friendly staff were an absolute credit to the hotel. After dinner we retired back to the bar area and then off to a wonderfully large and comfortable bed, it took minutes to drop off to sleep. After a very quiet and restful nights sleep, I'd love to know what mattresses they use, it was down for breakfast. There was a very good choice of hot and cold fare and I was amazed to see the same staff back on service still as polite, helpful and as cheery as the night before. Booking out took minutes and the Manor is somewhere we shall definately be returning to, even when our house is finished ?? There is plenty of parking, the hotel is very clean and the bedroom we had was spotless and quiet, but the one thing that sets the place above the majority is the young staff they are an absolute credit.

    « Lovely lunch! »

Would highly recommend. Went here for a family Sunday lunch, in the end we all chose off the specials board, the pie of the day, steak and ale with homemade double cooked chips. To be honest it was the chips that sold it to us as in many other places frozen chips are the order of the day! We were not to be disappointed, chips gorgeous; pie delicious with a light puff crust packed full of meat and gravy; veg cooked beautifully and tasty gravy in a pot. We then managed to conquer the deserts of lemon tart, beautifully light and tangy; Apple, summer fruit and cinnamon crumble with lashings of custard, creme brûlée and a sublime baked rice pudding with meringue and jam! Delicious ....we did not leave a thing. The staff were fab, especially our waitress Emily who had the most friendliest, happy and sunny personality, truly a credit to The Manor. All in all an excellent afternoon, we will be back!
