« Good stay in Virginia Wine area »

Spent 2 night her while wine tasting at the many wineries east of Staunton. Hotel was well located and room was nice. Free internet was quick and uninterrupted. Wife used indoor pool and said it was fine. Breakfast a bit basic but overall okay. Would stay here again if in the area.

    « Nice Hotel »

This property is usual Best Western fare...which in my opinion means it's a step ahead of a lot of hotel chains you find off the interstates. The rooms are nicely appointed with sufficient and easy to reach outlets, refrigerator, and microwave. They're clean. The hotel has got a nice indoor pool area and its breakfast has a nice variety of eats: typical hotel breakfast stuff, but some nice additions like cubed cheeses. There's a restaurant next door that's pretty good too. Staff very friendly and helpful. The one negative to report is that the hotel backs up to railroad tracks, and yes, there is a freight train that can go through during the night. It did while I was there. You will hear it, but it's not obnoxious...nor is it very long in duration.

« Everything was just fine. »

Room was nice and clean. Staff was courteous. Breakfast was fine. Everything was nice and quiet. It is right beside a very good restaurant, Mrs. Rowe's. It is open for lunch and dinner and is an old establishment.

« freindly and comfortable stay »

clean, reasonably priced hotel with very good breakfast and many nearby amenities ( Restaurants, attractions and Walmart). Train tracks in back of hotel not a concern as trains run infrequent and not at noght.

    « Frequent Guest »

I've used this hotel several times traveling the I-81 corridor, and find it to be a good value for the price. It is always clean and quiet. As a bonus, they accept pets, although the pet rooms are on the backside nearest the (active) railroad. Considering other hotel options along the interstate, this is a good choice.

« Surprisingly nice stay; no extra fee for dogs »

My mother and I stayed in this hotel on our trip up the coast. We chose it because it was close to the route, had nearby restaurants and fuel, and accepted pets with no extra fee. We were not expecting too much, but this was a very nice hotel with super friendly staff and a very good restaurant right next door (Mrs. Rowe's) that we were able to walk to. It also had a few shops nearby that looked cute and interesting, though were regrettably closed when we were there on a Sunday afternoon/evening. The hotel sports a surprisingly nice indoor pool, clean, comfortable rooms, and is quiet despite being near the highway. We had a room far down the first floor corridor from ice, elevators or much foot traffic, and it was very quiet. The dog walking area was right outside our room, and around the corner of the building, which was very convenient. The breakfast was very good and staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again.

    « Great experience... »

We had a great weekend stay in Staunton, Fri thru Mon. The Best Western was better than I expected it would be. I knew it was an older property so I wasn't going to be surprised if there were problems with the room. I was pleasantly surprised to find a very clean room and a well maintained property! The only downside here was the breakfast area is a little small, but that wasn't even that bothersome.

    « not impressed »

2 night stay. First morning internet was down all morning. When we returned at 9PM that evening for our second night, we found the room WAS NOT SERVICED/CLEANED AT ALL!!!! No one had even eneterd the room. It was exactly as we left. Never have I had that happen in any hotel.

    2
    « Train! »

If you choose this hotel, do not book online! You need to make sure you get a room in front. We were asked when we got here if we knew our room faced train tracks. We did not. We were also told there was no schedule but they run whenever. Well one went by and it sounded like it was going through our room! Made me wish I'd booked the comfort inn that was across the street! I don't know how others gave it a better rating. The room is ok. There is an indoor pool.

    4
« Good value for money »

Great place to stay. Friendly staff, several options for eating close by. Quiet area and close to interstate for travelling. Great breakfast selection and although they had had issues the day before with the internet, it worked fine during our stay.

    « great stay »

all was fine except the ice machine was only on the 1st floor and we had to keep going downstairs for ice. the breakfast was great and I didn't try the pool but at least it was inside and could be used without a crowd.

    « Haven from a Storm »

Arrived from Charlotte, NC about 3PM just before the arrival of a snow storm. Booked through Priceline great price for $51 including breakfast plus tax. Staff were great. Had trouble with the wi-fi and desk staff called the support people and got it going after about an hour on the phone. We had the train siding view. Many freight cars going by. Excellent breakfast. Dug my car out of about 8 inched of snow and headed back to Canada, we export snow. Great staff

    4
    « Solid Choice. »

A decent choice in the middle ground between $50 a night low budget and $130 a night higher budget hotels. The room was clean and a middling size. The glass elevator is cool. Pros Clean Easy to get to Staff Cool pool at the front. Comfy beds Con Free breakfast was a bit weak

    5
    « Very Satisfied »

We will stay here every time we come this way. Easy access from Interstate 81 from either direction, comfortable beds, very clean, including bathrooms. Breakfast is included and doesn't feel like continental. And, there's flavored creamers!

« Staunton is a Lovely Place to Visit »

The hotel is nice. Our room was clean and a nice size. We appreciated the number of lights and brightness of the bulbs. The breakfast was sufficient and had a nice variety of items. Make sure to ask for the quiet side. The rooms at the back of the building are along a train track and the trains do run.

    5
    « Nice place »

This hotel is very nice. Our room was clean and although we had a room on the train side, it didn't wake me up once. I sleep great on the comfortable bed and didn't have any issues as far as the shower goes. I didn't eat at the breakfast but I did take a look at it and it had your standard fare. Overall a great stay and a great hotel. I would stay again.

    5
« Best Western, Best Service »

From the moment we walked in the door we felt welcomed and treated with genuine customer care. Tammy was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about services in the area. The room was pretty standard for BW, the location was totally convenient off the highway, and the wifi service was better than most hotels we have experienced. Makes me glad to be a Best Western Member!

    4
    « One night stay »

The hotel needs some updates, our door was hard to open and the bathroom needed a new tub. Other than that we didn't have any bug issues, the beds and linens were clean and The room itself was clean as well. The bed was a little too firm for me, but it was good enough for one night and the staff were friendly also.

    4
« Good place to stay »

The BW Staunton provided a superior room at a very competitive price. The location is good, convenient from downtown Staunton (just across the interstate) and the facilities and overall condition of the property is above average. Having a family restaurant next door is a plus, even though our meal there was not as good as we had hoped based on other reviews.

    5
    « Great Hotel »

We got stuck in a snow storm Mach 2018 headed south pulled off I 81 with 6 inches on the interstate no problem room at 9 am in the morning with our dog . Great friendly people always a smile on every ones face and how can we help A great thank you to a great staff.

    « Clean Hotel/Helpful Desk Cleark »

I would have given this hotel a much better rating but we were not informed that the hotel is beside one of the busiest railroad tracks in Virginia. The trains haul coal and if you are on the back side of the hotel it is very noisy. We even had to sign a disclaimer with the hotel clerk that our room was on the back side near the tracks. Not a good way to start a stay at a hotel. On the positive side the clerk was helpful and the rooms were updated and clean. They also furnish a toy duck with your room. If you book this hotel, be sure and ask for a room on the front side away from the tracks.

« Great place for a midweek weekend! »

I had to be in Harrisonburg for a consultation, and decided to spend a couple of extra days in the central valley area. I Invited a friend/neighbor to go with me. Best Western is right next door to a restaurant which is known statewide for its delicious food, and the location is just a short drive from the attractions we wanted to see -- the Frontier Culture Museum and the Woodrow Wilson birthplace and library. The room was exactly what and where we wanted it to be. Prices were reasonable, not shocking, and the breakfast offering, from the cheerful room to the fresh berries and wide variety of goodies -- was pleasant and satisfyng. We found it lovely, clean, fresh and comfortable. Everything we used was in working order -- the TV was not mysterious or confusing, and the beds were welcoming. The staff were friendly, cordial people who made us feel at home -- or better. Although I didn't use it, this time, there's also the cutest pool I've ever seen. The "rubber ducky" reminded me of the little terracotta donkey offered by the San Luca hotel in Tuscany. (where terracotta is probably less expensive than platic.) Nice touch!

    1
    « Dirty don't recommend »

Our room was dirty smelt of wet dog. The front desk did try to get rid of smell but spraying part odor eliminator spray which helped for a bit the carpet in the room looked like it had not been vacuumed in awile

    5
« We were very pleasantly surprised by this hotel »

We spent three nights at this hotel. Our room was very comfortable and the breakfast was better than most. What really impressed us was the extra care the staff took to respond to our needs/ requests. For example: we requested an extra chair so that we could both sit up to read (my husband) and work on embroidery (me). They found one promptly. One charming touch: we were greeted by a small yellow rubber duck on the edge of the bathtub.

    5
    « a nice surprise »

Its always nice when you find a road side "chain hotel" that has stepped outside the box! And this one has!!! Neat and tidy on the outside as well as the inside. Staff is exemplary, friendly, attentive and helpful, good dinner recommendation and offer of discount coupon once we had decided. Dog friendly! Room was quite nice and comfortable. Great breakfast, fresh berries in January!!! We'll plan next years trip to stay here coming and going!

    3
    « Just OK »

Great person at reception. Bed shook each time my partner moved or sat on the bed. AC worked well. No desk - just a table and could not find a TV guide anywhere in the room. Nifty long cabinet that included the TV but other furnishings were sparse; for the price I expected more. Internet wasn't the best. Breakfast is continental with a few pre-packaged omelet and breakfast sandwiches to microwave. They offered chocolate milk (both nonfat and low fat which is unusual), cereal in boxes and plenty of yogurt choices (no greek style though). I also liked the variety of coffee creamers. Oatmeal was instant in package or in cups and they had the ubiquitous waffle maker. It was enough to get you going though. I may not pick this hotel next time as there are many other choices along this part of I-81. I did like the little rubber ducky at the tub though.

    5
    « Very good accomodations »

Have stayed in this Best Western many time during the past 14 years and find it to be a true value and very comfortable accommodation. Easy access to Interstate 81 and very well located. Staff is very helpful and personable..

    4
« nice pit stop while driving though »

Actually checked reviews on trip advisor and picked this spot. Friendly accommodating check in....clean room. Very Restful night after a long day of cancelled flights and driving. Got some fresh fruit in the morning with oatmeal. Good reasonable rate too.

    5
    « satified »

we have stayed here many times travelling to FL. Always find a great staff, nice room with breakfast and paper in morning. Located right off interstate which makes it easy to find. We usually get take out but there are eating options nearby.

    5
    « Great surprise »

We arrived- cold and tired. It had been a long drive with the snow and ice that had been part of the Grayson east coast storm. Everyone was friend and helpful. The accepted our Service Dog with no questions or problems. Everthing was clean and ready for us.

  • 5
« Great pet friendly place »

We needed a pet friendly property and this one was great. Everything was just fine and staff most helpful. We will definitely stay here again whenever we are on this route. Very handy to I-81, an easy on and off.

    4
    « Convenient and comfortable »

We stayed here on our way back to New England, because we've stayed before, and also because this is convenient to 81. There's also a great little family restaurant next door (see review), Mrs. Rowe's. This is your typical Best Western, but a bit nicer than most. Friendly staff, clean rooms and shared spaces. Breakfast is free, but small (we headed out early because of that), and the rooms were quiet. There is a nearby train, but it wasn't loud or bothersome. Would definitely stay again.

    5
« Clean, Comfortable and Well Priced »

My family and I stay at this hotel at least once a year when visiting family in Staunton. Very comfortable and everything is always in working order. My daughter's favorite is the pool! It's clean and warm. A bonus are the lovely doggies that are around as it's dog friendly hotel.

    4
    « Pleasantly surprised »

Quiet, comfortable and staffed with attentive people. The little rubber ducks are a whimsical surprise. The breakfast was perfect: plenty of fresh fruit and protein choices. I didn't know the hotel was pet-friendly. Next time we'll bring our little dog.

    5
    « A Great Place to Stay »

This is our favorite place to stay when we travel to western North Carolina from central New Jersey. We travel with our dog and this is a very nice and pet friendly hotel. We also like Mrs. Rowe's Restaurant adjacent to the hotel.

    3
    « Staunton Best Western »

Would not stay here again. Only high point is it was pet friendly. Misplaced my reservation and put me in under someone's else's name. Thus when wanted receipt at check out they could not find me. Check out to 10 minutes. Breakfast items not diverse or fresh. Rooms need upgrading. will stay at a LaQuinta next time.

    3
    « About what you'd expect, except... »

This is about what you expect from a Best Western right off the interstate. Room is ok. Air conditioner loud. Slight odor. Not real comfortable, but then ok for a night's stay. EXCEPT for the bed. Not comfortable, Pillows like a ball. Decent breakfast with lots of choices. Get what you pay for, I guess.

    5
    « Very Nice Hotel »

Although the price was more than I prefer to spend for a night when traveling through this hotel did not disappoint and was worth the extra cost. The room was large, clean, and comfortable- complete with a rubber ducky in the bathroom which you are welcome to take home with you. Breakfast was a notch above the usual chain hotel fare and very satisfying. There were several low carb and/or gluten free selections available. The hotel does have train tracks directly behind it and guests were told this upon check-in. I was on the back side and although there was chatter at breakfast about the train rolling through at 2am I never heard it. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room on the front side away from the train tracks.

    5
« another good experience at Best Western »

My husband and I stayed one night at the Best Western in Staunton VA. The room that we were initially assigned had a strong odor. The previous guest must have smoked in the room, and we always request a non-smoking room. The manager recognized the problem and immediately gave us another room. We were pleased at how quickly the problem was solved .

    3
    « shop around »

Outdated and mismatched. Not ideal conditions for working. No desk or desk chair. Did not offer information on WIFI services, including password. Bed was average, but not very comfortable. Appeared to be clean, except tub. Staff was friendly. I did get there late evening, left early morning.

  • 3
« Clean, conveniently located, comfortable bed...a good choice for us, but nothing special. »

RIght off the highway and the rate was decent, so this was a good pick for us. It's a pretty basic motel with the usual facilities....our second floor room was comfortable and clean..so we have no complaints.

    5
« On the way to Hershey, Pa »

I stay at this Best Western at least twice a year on the way to Hershey, Pa. The folks are super friendly and the breakfast there is great. it is also right next door to Mrs. Rowe's - a great restaurant that I have stopped by for the past 20 years. I highly recommend this Best Western!

    5
« Nice place to rest off interstate 81 »

Hotel staff was great, the customer service was very nice. Breakfast was till 10 AM which was nice for all those late sleepers.Rubber ducks are a great idea to make the customer feel good and to start a conversation with the staff. Bed was comfortable and all the amenities worked great. Nice to find a great place to sleep after being on the road all day with friendly staff and at a good price. Thanks.

    5
    « excellent stay »

« As Usual Great Stay in Staunton, Va Best Western »

My husband and I have traveled north in the Spring ~ south in the Winter for a number of years.. we've always found the Staff, at the Staunton, Va. BW to be most helpful with making reservations /Checking in and out. Always most interested in your comfort and wanting you to be pleased at the end of your stay..

    4
« We Always Stop Here »

We drive back and forth from FL to NH, and we stay at the Best Western Staunton. The location is great, they are pet friendly, and the rooms are nice. Mrs Rowe's restaurant is across the parking lot. The staff are friendly, making it a great stop.

    4
    « My Father.s 90 th Birthday »

Hotel is dated but very clean. Beds are not very comfortable but the rooms are okay. The staff is superb from the front desk to the housekeeping staff. They really make you feel welcome and handle all of your needs. I highly recommend this hotel.

    3
    « NOTHING SPECIAL »

There was one customer being checked in at the front desk when we arrived. The clerk was extremely pleasant, but painfully slow; she may have been a trainee. There was another clerk, but he never offered to check me in. She asked if I wanted Express Checkout and said the bill would be slipped under our door at approximately 4:00AM; I accepted the offer. There was neither electrical outlet nor chair at the desk/table. There was an obnoxious odor in the elevator. We did not get our bill under the door and had to get one the old fashioned way.

    3
    « Way over priced »

The room was average and typical for a standard Best Western hotel but the price was as much as a BW-Plus hotel. If I had the energy to drive another half-hour to Lexington,VA, it would have cost $30 less for the same accommodations and I would have been much happier.

    5
« Great place to stay! »

Cozy and peaceful! We will be back! The breakfast had something for everyone to enjoy. The staff was extremely helpful and was able to answer any questions I may have had. The rooms were clean and kept up to date.

  • 5
« Best Western is the best »

Best Western is the best for comfort. value, cleanliness and friendly. The staff in every Best Western we stayed in were GREAT!!! From the front desk staff to the breakfast staff, to the room attendants were great!!!!! Thanks to contributing to great and memorable vacations or weekend visits!!!

    5
    « Lucky find! »

Traveling home from Florida we always stay at the BW in Roanoke Virginia. For some reason it was fully booked on a Thursday night. We drove an extra hour to Staunton and I'm glad we did. This BW was great. Clean....most importantly. Their breakfast was far superior to any other BW we've stayed at. Everything was perfect!

    4
    « Nice Place! »

We have stayed here before and it was good so we returned. It is modern, clean and has a comfortable bed. Breakfast is Ok, but I am not crazy about this type of breakfast (help yourself) buffet. It is always confusing to me. It is adequate and while you are traveling, it works. But, I would pay extra to go to a restaurant within the hotel and have table service with a menu. However, most places are like this hotel and it is a good deal and hits the spot! The staff are pleasant and welcoming. It is within walking distance to three restaurants. We will probably stay again on our way through because it is a nice hotel.

    4
    « Pleasant stay »

We were traveling and this was a great stop over for a night. It's close to I-81 and has easy access to get on and off. The room was clean, very comfortable and the price was right. The breakfast was the usual and offered a nice variety. We'll be back when we travel!

    4
« Best Western guest review »

Best Western is our choice of hotels when we travel. We have stayed in BW on the east coast from SC to Pennsylvania. Also in Arizona. The service was and is always very good. Their breakfast buffet has a good assortment of juices, cereals, toast, muffins and waffles and fresh fruit. Also eggs and sausage. I don't think you would go hungry with those choices. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The only thing I was not happy with was the bed pillows. The bed pillows were too firm for me.

    4
« On the way home »

Excellent customer service...very clean and fresh coffee when we arrived...Room was comfy..older but nice...very easy to find and a nice restaurant next door..The breakfast was ok.. needed a little work..

    5
« Great place to stay »

We try to make it to Staunton on our trek to Florida for the winter. BW offers a calm and restful environment to relax after a day of traffic on the road. And having a Cracker Barrel restaurant just up the hill is an added bonus for us. Home style cooked meal is appreciated.

    5
    « excellant »

we have stayed at this hotel quite a few times over the years and it is always clean and friendly. the also serve a wonderful breakfast easy access from the highway gas station and restaurants close by

    5
« Comfortable stay, good breakfast »

We stayed one night at the BW Staunton, checking in late and leaving early, so our experience was limited. Check-in was easy and the staff were helpful. The room was clean and spacious enough for our needs. WiFi was good and the breakfast was excellent, with good fresh fruit.

    4
« Staunton Inn Best Western »

Very comfortable stay at the Staunton Inn in Staunton, VA. This was a pretty good location for our takeoff on a Blue Ridge Parkway tour. (Also good location for entering Shenandoah National Park from the South. Generous sized room, bed was great, room clean and nicely appointed. Very good continental breakfast. Price a little higher than some other Best Westerns.

  • 5
    « Stay over »

Love staying here. Always so nice and beautiful scenery. Everyone has always been so nice and helpful and rooms are clean and very comfortable. Great overnight stay. I feel very secure in this hotel and location. Breakfast was very good and good selection.

    3
    « Horrible Beds »

While the hotel is outdated, it is clean, and the majority of the people we encountered were pleasant and professional. There is a train track that runs across one side of the building so this could be a problem for light sleepers. I think I would have slept through it had I actually bean able to sleep. The beds are so uncomfortable. I only got a few hours sleep and since we stopped there to sleep during a road trip, we won't be back.

    5
    « AWESOME Stay »

BW Staunton lived up to previous reviews - great accommodations, fantastic breakfast and very friendly staff. I would stay here again when I am in the area. The only negative was their recommendation of restaurant next door - food was only okay, served lukewarm by unsmiling waitress.

    4
« Good option for visiting Shenandoah »

Good hotel, clean, friendly, well located and with a normal breakfast. The staff is warm and very helpful. There is a swimming poo for kids which is very convenient. Close by the Hotel you will find a good offer of Restaurant for a good lunch or dinner, and the stall the hotel provides discounts.

    5
« Great stop whem pasing through. »

We were on our way to the mountains and stopped for the night. It was in a convenient location Rt. 250. The clerk who checked us in was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had everything we needed. I the morning when we left the room the associate who was cleaning the room found a pair of my wife's shoes and rushed out to get them to her. The morning breakfast was good. We would stay here again when going through Staunton.

    5
    « First Class BW »

One of the nicest BW properties we stay at when we travel. Except for not having a fitness center this property could easily be a BW Plus. Helpful staff, clean and comfortable room, outstanding breakfast and right next door to one of the best "hometown" restaurants in Virginia ....Mrs. Rowes!

    4
« Second time at this Best Western and glad we did. »

We have 2 cats who are traveling troopers and we appreciated the lack of hidie holes for them to disappear -- two comfortable double beds, big bathroom, big fluffy towels, good breakfast selection. Also a really good restaurant next door.

    1
« racist judgmental and bigoted »

overall this hotel was nice clean and comfy, however some of the staff was extremely rude, opinionated, and bigoted toward a friend of mine. This racist and judgmental attitude is not something that he or any of us should have to deal with when paying to stay at a hotel or at any other time. I will never stay here again nor recommend this to anyone

    4
« Great place for an overnight stay »

Our room was well appointed especially for the money, the staff friendly and helpful There were lots of places to eat very handy, unfortunately we walked next door the Mrs. Rowe's only to have the lights turned out as we got there. We were too tired to get into the car again and drive. This is directly off the highway, easy on and off access, however, we did not experience any noise in our room. Breakfast was a little different but very nice and busy, so was well accepted by many.

    5
« overnight stay at the Best Western in Staunton, VA »

Our stay at the hotel was pleasant. We stay there regularly and enjoy the fact that we can bring our beagle without any fuss or added expense. The hotel staff is friendly and efficient and help to resolve any issues the best they can. We enjoy the breakfast buffet. They serve fresh cut up fruit in addition to a wide variety of items offered. Check out is simple. I leave the keys on the desk and they email me my bill. I would recommend this hotel.

    « personal stay »

Very clean hotel and great people. Our bed was harder than I'm used to but ok. Breakfast and coffee was really nice and they served coffee all day! Excellent dog area and very pet friendly. Dog walking area clean and well lit and even had clean up bags!

    « Great visit - great value »

This hotel was very nice. It was clean, well kept and the rooms were just right. The staff was very friendly and professional throughout the visit. Also, the price was very good. Nothing was sacrificed to get this low price. I definitely recommend it and would stay there again.

« Excellent experience at Staunton »

This was my second time staying at BW Staunton and it is a very fine establishment which I highly recomend. Helpful staff and great location. You also have three restaurants to choose from locally on grounds. Great place!!

« Pretty good considering the price! »

The hotel was great for a one night stay. The staff was friendly, and they had free breakfast in the morning. Overall, if money was tight (like it was during my stay) I would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again.

    « Whirlwind roadtrip »

My husband and I have stayed at this BW Hotel previously because it is the halfway point to our NC destination. The hotel is well kept up, the room is very clean, the staff polite, it is in a quiet area, and the breakfast is plentiful to get us started the next day. We will stay here again. For dinner try Mrs. Rowes right next door, or the Cracker Barrel also on Rowe Rd.

« lovely staff but a bit far from town »

the staff at the front desk were wonderful, full of recommendations for local places to visit and eat in town, you will need a car 'though as the town centre is a couple of miles away, we were told that our room was next to the train tracks which could cause disruption but we only heard 2 trains in our 2 days there (although it takes the train about 4 mins to pass by!), breakfast was the usual buffet style but was very good.

« One of the nicest »

Only issue is the valet cart and awkwardness to maneuver through doors - into parking lot and on to elevator. Motel was wonderfully quiet - large tractor trailers and refrigerator trailers not in same parking lot under room windows, as vehicles and smaller trucks

« Great staff, but noisy train right outside window »

The hotel was conveniently located right off the interstate. The room was clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was great. We needed to change the length of our stay and they were very helpful. (We had booked through a third party and the staff assisted us to make the needed changes. Would recommend booking direct with hotel.) The only problem was a train track about 50 feet from our room's window. A train came through 2-3 times each night and woke us up.

« Great Hotel Next to Mrs. Rowe's Restaurant »

We picked this hotel because my husband likes to eat at the restaurant next door when we stay in the area. The hotel is clean, safe and comfortable. Staff are friendly. We were warned ahead of time about train noise. I brought a white noise machine that we used and night and had no problem with night time train noise.

    « What a great experence! »

Our stay was a great experience was as good as it gets. Super restaurants on both sides of the motel within 5 minutes walking distance. Even handicapped people were able to walk to one of them. The employees of the motel are all top notch.

« Best Western Staunton VA »

Very nice hotel with an excellent staff. The pool was clean and refreshing after a long drive. The room was comfortable and the A/C was already on with a cool temperature in the room. Breakfast was okay but the hot portion was limited to a pre-packaged omelet and/or sausage sandwich, but there were cold items like cereal and juice. Overall a very nice place.

    5
    « Super value »

This hotel is our favorite stop on our trips to the south from Pennsylvania. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. Clean lobby and rooms. The best breakfast at any hotel and it is included in the price.

    « Quite Lovely »

This was close to the skyline drive, some shopping and the Frontier Cultural Museum. The hotel staff were nice, very helpful, and always greeted us and asked if we needed anything. The pool was clean, nice temps tire and the pool room area was warm. Would recommend staying here!!

    « Staunton Motel »

Price and employee experience wonderful. Quality of the facility was good, but it showed age. Location withaccess to roadway was excellent. The best part of the location was a family owned restaurant next door with reasonalbe pricing and a service station within the immediate parking area.

Excellent personal and Fido friendly clean rooms and comfy. very good morning breakfeast clean and heated swimming pool great location in the mountains with easy access to the interstate 81 and a local home style diner located next store

« Nice quiet comfortable room »

Stayed here going and coming on our trip. Nicely appointed room, comfortable bed, free breakfast, friendly staff. Restaurant next door, Mrs. Rowe's, has excellent home style meals. Reasonable rates. Highly recommend.

« The "Best" Western Ever! »

Due to the evacuation from Florida and Hurricane Irma, we were lucky to reserved the second to last room at the hotel. Everyone was delightful, the room was spotless and comfortable, and the breakfast was the best we have encountered. Fresh berries, lots of quality choices, and a helpful wait staff made our stay enjoyable.

    1
« terrible beds and pillows »

The staff was awesome. The beds and pillows were terrible. We could not sleep. the dresser was dirty and we had to live out of our suitcase. This place needs a refresh and we would not recommend staying here unless they get new beds and pillows. The staff was very nice and professional

« A Hotel that will always be my go to place in Staunton, VA »

This hotel is very easy to reach because it is just of the interstate exit 225 from I-81 There are restaurants like Texas Steak House, Cracker Barrel very near by and also a gas station. The road R.t 250 that goes into Staunton goes right past the hotel and it is a very short ride into the city. The hotel itself is very comfortable, with good parking. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel does provide a great breakfast, with very good coffee but right next to the hotel is a fabulous restaurant called Mrs. Rowe's and the food there is to die for. I have stayed at the hotel four times in the past two years and it has never been a disappointment.

    3
« Disappointing, lacking in comfort »

I cannot recall the last time I stayed at a Best Western, so it's diificult to compare apples to apples here. Although the staff was friendly, there is little else I can say that is positive. It's clear this is a hotel catered to families. There is a clear view of the pool (and strong chlorine odor) from the lobby, which creates a challenge when you'd rather not see people in their bathing suits as you head to your room. Our room was basic, but there was a distracting urine-like odor stemming from either the toilet pipes or wall behind the toilet. The AC needed a good cleaning as well. However, most commercial establishments have low, basic standards of clean, so one cannot fault Best Western for meeting minimum code standards. It makes it challenging, however, for those of us who like a clean room and also suffer from mold allergies. I am a light sleeper, so the paper-thin walls meant I did not sleep a wink the two nights we were there. Best Western should not be at fault for children running through the halls at 10 p.m. or adults carrying on obscenely loud conversations when others are attempting to sleep, but it would be nice if the walls were thicker, more insulated, to tone down the human behavior. When you can hear someone in their bathroom from another room, you know the walls are too thin! The continental breakfast was disappointing as there were not healthy options. It's your basic carb fest. The only eggs they offered you had to put in the microwave. They offered fruit, but since half a banana is one serving, that makes it tough for those trying to watch their sugar intake. And if you're lactose intolerant, yogurt is not an option. Again, Best Western cannot be blamed for limited breakfast options as most hotels have not focused on their breakfast menus yet and considered healthy-eating travelers. Serving carbs is still cheaper. But my poor rating is mostly because the room was disappointing and I cannot reccommend this hotel to my friends.

« great lodging for families with pets. »

was very pleased with the cleanliness of the facilities. This is the first time that we checked in with our family pet. It was very quiet and pet area was very clean. Other than seeing a family pet from time to time with other lodgers you would never know there was never any barking etc. Thanks for making it possible to travel with our pet much easier and not have to sleep in a rest area. . will definately stay again at best westerns. .

    5
    « Always a great experience »

The staff is always pleasant and accommodating. The hotel is always spotless and the rooms are very comfortable. There is always a nice selection of breakfast items to choose from, and hot and cold beverages are always available in the lobby.

    5
    « relaxing stay »

Pool was good, staff excellent, love the free newspapers and little duck my wife collects em, Internet was great. Great places for food. Breakfast was good. Close to 81 and 64. Great Value for the money, its the way its supposed to be.

    3
« Had all the basics, in dire need of cleaning and updating »

Overall I'm not dissatisfied but this hotel could use some improvements. On a positive note, the staff is excellent! They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. They gave my son a special rubber duckie for being well behaved during check in. The check in process was fast and friendly. We arrived right around 10pm, and the staff kept the pool open an hour after it was supposed to close so that my son could go swimming. Check out was also a positive experience with a very friendly front desk person. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and customer focused, and they should be commended for the level of service they provide. The main reason for my 3 star rating is that the facility itself has a poor layout and is severely dated. The decor screams early 90s and there's visible wear and tear on everything. The carpets are dingy, the parking is not plentiful, and the breakfast area is not open which makes you feel claustrophobic when it's crowded with people. To my horror, the in room coffee maker had crud and dust in the water chamber making the unit unusable. The pool was dirty, with visible grime above the water level surrounding the entire pool. You could also see dirt and grime on the floor and walls of the pool. It's a shame that this could be a great hotel since the location is close to dining options, gas and the interstate. The staff was excellent. But best western really needs to invest in this hotel because I would not consider staying here again unless the facilities got a complete overhaul.

    « Best Western Staunton »

We stay at this hotel on our frequent trips from SC to New England. It is convenient to the highway, the rooms are comfortable and reasonably priced and they have a killer continental breakfast. They are also right next door to a very fine family run restaurant.

    3
    « accessable and clean »

This Best Western is just off of the interstate. It was clean and the staff were welcoming but the beds were hard and the breakfast was the same old, same old. The fact that this BW is easy to get to and back on the highway is a plus. It is clean and there are a couple of places to eat close by that is a positive also.

    4
« Very Nice Hotel in a Great Location »

The staff was very pleasant at check in and any time that we came or went and very helpful in answering our questions. Both the hotel and our room were nicely decorated and very clean and is located within walking distance of 3 good restaurants and local novelty stores. Would definitely stay here again.

    5
« Highly Recommend this Hotel! »

Very clean, nice atmosphere, good location, great breakfast, great value for the price. I've stayed at this hotel before . The only drawback is you must not get a room in the back, since there are railroad tracks there, and the train does run sporadically at night. I got a room in the front. Very clean, updated room. spacious and nicely decorated. great breakfast. Cute atmosphere - highly recommend this place. Friendly staff. And you even get a little rubber ducky as a souvenir.

« Best Western Staunton, Virginia »

This Best Western is very nice! Easy on/off I81. The staff is very personable, the hotel is clean, the pool while small is very nice. The breakfast is better than most other hotels with quite a variety of products. The beds are very comfortable.

    5
    « Impressed!! »

We were really impressed with all elements of our stay. The breakfast had all fresh fruit and was so clean and neat. Every amenity was available at much less than other hotels where we had just previously stayed. Pat AB

    « Job Well Done »

It was a pleasure staying at your establishment while dropping my son off at Mary Baldwin University. Everything was just right. I don't think I could have asked for a better experience. It was a experience for a good price.

    3
« Needs a tad of sprucing up. »

I stayed here before a couple of years ago and really liked it. This time it was a bit of a disappointment. The place seemed in need of some sprucing up and cleaning. Front desk folks were friendly and appropriately courteous and helpful. I noticed that whereas last time they were displaying their TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence these were not on display (or I missed them) this time. I'd suggest that if they have them they should display them, and if they aren't receiving them now they need to perhaps look into what they can do to improve.

    5
    « Quality and Economy »

We chose Staunton VA because it is near the south entrance of Shenandoah National Park. Easy access to Skyline Drive. Friendly staff, premises are very well maintained and clean. Breakfast selections were a step above, lots of fresh fruit. Usual offerings are bananas, apples and oranges.

    5
« Visit to Staunton Va »

Travelled for first time visit to Classical Music Festival at Staunton. Location of Best Western was perfect for journey into town as well as to pick up Skyline Drive at National Park and to pick up 81 to head to Natural Bridge and VMI and to head home on 64. Home cooking restaurant Mrs Rowes right next door and Texas Steakhouse nearby as well as Waffle House.

    2
    « Not so great »

Glad I am here for just one night and I'll remember to pay a little more and stay elsewhere next time I am passing through. The bedside table had not been cleaned and was covered with some sticky substance -- probably spilled soda. I found a red ant or spidery thing in bed with me and my room was on the 4th floor so I doubt it was because of moisture. And they are way behind in terms of outlets for charging devices. And the internet was slow if it even worked at all. The room was spacious but shabby - sort of depressing. The wallpaper had tears in it. On the plus side, the front desk person was lovely and welcoming, and the bed was comfortable.

    3
« Friendly but falls way short for the price »

The staff at this hotel was hospitable and friendly. However, the room smelled musty and/or moldy and the Internet service did not work in my room. When I asked the front desk about it, the first staff member had no idea how to fix it. Another told me to call a number. That person got it to work for about 5 minutes. After that, I gave up. I stay in that area frequently and so I am aware of better hotels at cheaper prices that have Internet service that works!

    4
« not the park plaza »

it's a budget hotel. the staff were very friendly and helpful. i enjoyed the selections for breakfast. who knew that microwave cheese omelettes exist and are tasty? fresh fruit, make your own waffles, yogurt, hot and cold cereal as well as bagels, breads, and sweet rolls. much better than what i expected. oh, and low-fat chocolate milk. my complaints: no ventilation fan in bathroom, very limited natural lighting, room lighting poor for reading, only 1 chair (aside from an uncomfortable desk chair) , tiny desk (really a small table), a/c unit loud and only 2 fan speeds. if you are only getting a room for a place to sleep, it's fine but if you're stuck in the room, not so much.

    5
    « Pleasant surprise »

Wonderfully clean and friendly. Great area for our dog to get walks. Outgoing staff and nice breakfast set up. Pleasantly surprised at the quality of hotel in every regard since we had never stayed at a pet friendly hotel before and expected a lesser facility.

« Return to my favorite Best Western »

I enjoy my stay here each and every time I come through Virginia, which is fairly regular and find I get great service at an affordable price. Great room and fantastic staff, makes the stay a pleasure. Their indoor heated pool is great to relax in and stretch muscles from a long day. Would recommend staying here and will be back in the near future.

    4
    « Quiet nights sleep »

Smaller hotel with good faciities and pleasant staff. No real negatives noted and the rates are very good. Would prefer queen to the double beds but on the whole- very reasonable. The beds are only double beds in size and the mattresses-which I liked were on the soft side- but that is what I prefer.

« Met our needs for the night. »

We stayed here for one night as we passed through the area. Check-in was very slow as there were several folks checking in at the same time (understandable) but the clerk took additional time to sign several guests up for their Rewards Program while the rest of us waited. Our room was very cold on arrival and took quite some time to warm up to a comfortable temperature. The room was clean and comfortable. Train tracks were just outside our window but only one train went by during our stay so the tracks did not present a problem. The breakfast area was very crowded so we took our food back to our room. Multiple maid carts were blocking the hallways when we were ready to check out with our luggage. Overall it was satisfactory but not sure if we would stay here again.

    5
    « Great place!! »

We just got tired of driving and pulled in for the night! This ended up being a great, clean place to stay! The staff was friendly and helpful! The breakfast workers did a great job in spite of being SLAMMED with guests!! I would recommend!!

    « Very nice hotel »

Clean, friendly, helpful with doggie bag equipped pet walking area. Beds were full, not queen but room, hallways seemed clean. We actually remarked on that when going to our room. No obvious exercise room but did have a pool. Restaurants within walking didtance.

    « Pleasant surprise »

By chance on our way from Shenandoah National Park we stayed in Staunton, VA Best Western and were very pleasantly surprised with the service at this hotel and local attractions. There are train tracks behind the hotel, but we didn't have any problems, nor heard the train - so no worries there

« Pleasant, clean and inviting »

We stopped here on the way home from Tennessee. The room rate was quite reasonable. The lobby is inviting. Welcoming and very clean. It has been recently renovated and adorable statues give it a home touch . The sofa seemed comfortable. The continental breakfast had an assortment of fresh fruit, muffins, yogurt and new waffle makers. Our room large and pleasant. The mattresses could have been newer but not horrible.

    « Sweet gem of a hotel! »

Stopped here with no reservation on the last night of an 8 day motorcycle trip. Lucky for us, they had 2 rooms left & honored the discount coupon we had p/u at a rest area on I-81. The check in staff could not have been nicer! Lobby & pool beautiful. Comfy beds & spotless, updated room. Free breakfast was the best...waffle maker & fresh berries! Will stop here again next time we are traveling that way.

    4
    « Good location »

Driving from South Carolina to Central New York, this hotel is at the halfway point. It is pet friendly yet you don't detect others having had pets before you. Carpet and tub could use a better cleaning though. This is the second time we have stayed here and might do it again next year.

    3
« Friendly staff, some limitations in the facilities »

Pleasant and efficient staff, comfortable room (though carpet needed a thorough cleaning). The pool is not accessible unless you can climb the ladder in and out of it. A lift is in the pool room, but staff were unable to help with it for insurance reasons. The WiFi was sometimes very slow, sometimes unavailable, and at other times fine.

    2
    « Update Needed »

This hotel is in desperate need of an update. The beds and linens are the worst. The AC is average at best. The staff was great the breakfast was good. I would not go back. Sorry, I am usually a fan of BW.

    4
    « Very nice »

Just stayed one night but we were pleased with our stay. Front desk personnel were very helpful. The breakfast was delightful as they had fresh fruit, which you don't find often. The breakfast room was crowded but we finally got in. Room was more than adequate. Will definitely return if in the area.

    5
« A nice evening at Best Western »

The room was large, well maintained and clean. The staff was very courteous and helpful, giving us a great restaurant recommendation. Everything worked well except that the sink drained slowly and the llighting system was a bit difficult to navigate. Breakfast was excellent, including a wide variety of fresh fruit and omelets

    5
« Best on the East »

I had a nice one night stay. The room was clean and had everything I needed. The pool was just the right thing after a long day of driving. Breakfast had many delicious choices. Staff was very helpful in giving me directions to nearby restaurants. Love the duck!

    « 4-Story Walk-Up »

When I woke up in the morning the elevator was broken. My fourth floor room had become a 4-Story Walk-Up. It took only 5 trips to get all my luggage downstairs. Plus another trip for the breakfast. What a drag. When I asked one of the maids about this problem, she said this is not the first time the motel's -only- elevator has broken. You must avoid this motel unless you get a room on the first floor, which is the pet floor, and which is the floor closest to the railroad track behind the motel. Railroad track? Yes, this motel is built alongside a railroad track. One Star is all I can rate this motel.

    5
    « Would highly recommend »

Very nice hotel for our stop on the way from NY to NC. Very clean and comfortable, friendly staff, great breakfast, very convenient to I-81. Loved the pool and the designated smoking area. Loved the decor throughout the hotel.

    5
    « Clean-Welcoming-Reliable-Wholesome Atmosphere »

We love this stop on our annual road trip to visit family. The Staunton Best Western is a gem: every year, without fail, the people are hospitable, the room is clean and pleasant, the breakfast is delicious, and there is a wholesome atmosphere of decency (an increasingly-rare commodity in hotels today). You will NOT feel like you are exposing yourself or your family to an aggressive brand that is trying to replace what everyone has always wanted from a hotel--cleanliness, comfort, decency, quiet, a balance between hospitality and respecting guests' privacy--with a soulless screen-filled bar-lobby blaring HBO and cable news 24-7 and a grim room that looks like an Apple Store. I want to shop at an Apple Store from time to time, but I don't want to take my family there to sleep and eat! And, they give you a rubber duck!

  • 4
    « nice stay here »

This is a cozy little hotel with large standard rooms. There is a pet "rest area" out back on some grass under the shade of some pine trees. The staff was helpful and friendly. The unfortunate part is the back of the hotel is close to active rail road tracks. For the price however, this was a nice stay for one night.

    3
    « Bathrooms Filthy »

Bathroom floor unsanitary around toilet and overall. Shower curtain smelled terrible. Carpet should NOT be in pet friendly rooms or any rooms for that matter. Air conditioning unit was very noisy. Set at one temperature. When temp. was reached turned off until it got very hot inside room then air unit kicked on and sounded like a jet taking off.

    5
    « Nice stay! »

This hotel was very clean and affordable for us. Front desk staff was very helpful in helping us with parking as we were towing a car. Also property was very clean as were the rooms. We would recommend this hotel to everyone.

excellent hotel. Susan if very helpful and so sweet. don't stay on the track side, if you can help it. Train noise might keep you up. Doesn't bother me, I work for the railroad, and I love train noise.

« Nicest BW I've ever been to »

We stop at this BW on our travels between FL and ME. We travel with cats and they are welcomed with open arms. We generally get a very early start, so have not participated in breakfast. Be aware there is a train track next to the hotel. They will inform you of that when make a reservation. It has never been a problem for us.

    5
« Clean, quiet and comfortable. »

The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The pool area was on the humid side but it wasn't an issue. Breakfast in the morning typical. Cereals, waffles and muffins type foods. The omelets were pre-cooked and you micro waved them yuck! But everything else was fine. Checking in was a little off. Elderly women who couldn't quite get my questions correctly answered. But it is what it is.

    4
    « Loved the "Rubber Duck" touch~~ »

Right off I-81 and within walking distance of restaurants was my first impression. Check in was breezy and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, as was the bed. Well appointed and lit. The water pressure was 2nd to none, along with fluffy towels. Can't tell you about the breakfast, as I left before 6am. Did I mention the rubber duck??? So cute you can't resist taking it home with you!!!!

« Have dog will travel! »

Great place to stop overnight while traveling with my dog! The staff knows us and my dog knows them and is always always welcomed. My night was a reward night which was also a treat. I wouldn't stay anywhere else if there's a Best Western in the area!

We were on our way to South Carolina and stopped here the first night out. Very comfortable and quiet. The staff was professional, helpful, and friendly. Pretty much what one would expect for a BW with one nice addition - we were welcomed with a little rubber duck gift. Nice touch!

« Great breakfast. Sweet pool. »

We stayed here as a stopping off point for Williamsburg. The staff are very kind. Breakfast had a great variety, and the fresh fruit was especially welcome. My husband, who is a juvenile diabetic, was able to get a healthy breakfast which can be difficult on the road. The pool is pristine and in great shape. If having a good mattress is your number one thing on the road, this is probably not the place for you. But otherwise, top notch! Right off the interstate.

    5
    « GREAT STAY »

Room was very clean. The front receptionist is probably the nicest lady in the world. She was great! Patsy & Lilchy were the front desk ladies. Everything was a breeze, we just stopped in and booked a room. No reservations were required. Parking was great. Next to interstate and the small town with many things to do.

    « Good Choice »

This motel has Comfortable beds, large rooms , helpful staff, the breakfast was better than most for this kind of meal, it offered lots of choice. Located right off a main highway, a little outside of Staunton.

    « Research »

Best best western ! The location was great for my research. Courteous and helpful desk and cleaning staff, clean room, clean public hallways, great that it is a smoke free area, outside was clean and tidy. Breakfast was okay, would liked to have eggs and good quality sausage or bacon and fewer carbohydrate options. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and love the price!

    « Dog Heaven »

This was our first stay at a hotel that accommodates dogs. Overall, enjoyed the hotel amenities. Excellent value priced hotel located midway from the beach. Will definitely stop at this hotel again. Probably could use a breakfast upgrade, only had microwaveable products.

« Only stayed one night but very comfortable! »

Plenty of parking. The room was clean and comfortable which included a refrigerator. The continental breakfast included fresh cut fruit and the standard items usually found. Nice lobby decorations and pool.

    « Excellent experience »

All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was easy to find and get to...just off interstate and close to restaurants and other needs. We needed two rooms next to each other and they were able to accommodate us. Checking in late and checking out early was done with great satisfaction and ease.

    « Nice, clean BW »

My sister and I stayed here and it was very nice. The room was nice and clean and they even gave us a free bathtub duck to remember this Hotel. Would stay here again. Breakfast was OK. Could have had more variety of breakfast.

    « stayed one night »

Staying in a few hôtels on our way back to Canada, it was my best one, of course i like the Best Western chain, but this one is the greatest, At the reception they asked what was our needs and it was appreciated, the breakfast with fresh strawberries and other fruits everything was so good, whish we could stayed longer. Sorry my English I am french. Really thank you.

    « Great Breakfast »

In addition to the clean, comfortable room and friendly staff, I was pleased with the variety and quality of the breakfast, especially the fresh blueberries and raspberries, and the Jimmy Dean Sausage & Egg Biscuit.

    « Overnight stop »

Stopped here overnight on our way to OBX with our 2 small dogs. Staff was super friendly & very accommodating. I asked for first floor room because of our dogs & my request was met. Plan to stay here again on our return trip home .

« Super Loud Train Makes Sleeping An Impossible Challenge »

First of all, we did receive somewhat of a warning. Were told by the front desk that there were no rooms available on the non track side of the hotel. One of the ladies at the desk, told us that some travelers do not even really notice the train. OK, so we were so tired we thought we could sleep through the train. Not so, train came through 4 times that night and it was SUPER loud. Just can't imagine anyone possibly sleeping through the racket. It was clearly a big mistake staying here. Workers at this Best Western were friendly. We will never consider staying here again, unless a room is available on the non track side. After leaving we wondered, why in the world would Best Western want to locate a hotel a few feet from the RR!

    5
« Conveniently located quality accomodation »

Certainly at the higher end for this type of accomodation. Very well maintained, pleasantly decorated and supported by a most pleasant service staff . Breakfast was the usual fare with attention to detail and presentation. Would certainly stay here again.

    3
    « Not Bad »

I wasn't thrilled with my stay, but overall, it wasn't too bad. The room wasn't as clean as I would like, with stains on the chair. I would have said something, but my trip was only for the night. So, my experience wasn't bad, just not as good as I would have liked.

    5
« Great stop off spot. »

Stayed here for just one night as a rest stop driving from maine. To Myrtle beach. The room was very clean as was the hotel. Had a small pool indoors that looked good although we didnt use it. Comp breakfast was available with lots of selections. We will definately use this hotel in the future on florida trips as a rest over stop

    3
    « Nice but noisy »

The noise we experienced which came from the hall, the room above us, and the parking lot (someone crying hysterically at 2AM) interrupted our sleep. The general noise from the nearby road was not an issue.

« The Most Genuinely Caring Hotel Ever »

The staff at this property have always taken the time to make me feel welcome and cared for to the highest levels. If you want a clean, quiet, friendly stay...please consider the Best Western Staunton. I promise you will not be disappointed.

    1
    « Dirty »

The room we were given was very dated and dirty. Chairs were stained. Bathtub was so disgusting I would not get in it without boots. I complained and staff reluctantly moved us to another room which was not much better and they advised that an unscheduled train passes by and would be annoying . In that case, you should offer a discount for staying there. All in all this was not a good experience.

    5
    « Nice Stay »

Excellent stop over. Room very clean. Personnel all were very help full. Pool available for swimming. Breakfast very good with a good supply of items hot and cold. Next door is MRS ROWES restaurant. Great menu and wonderful bakery. Gas stations available with other activities if you desireTry to get room on the right side as a train does go through now and then.

« Do not normally use BW and was pleasantly surprised »

For some reason Holiday Inn Express does not take pets anymore...their loss, BW's gain. After 8 hour drive it was nice to get a clean, quiet room with a very nice staff. it's close to the interstate and to a couple of casual eateries in a safe area. Breakfast was good...check out the Jimmy Dean sausage, egg and cheese biscuits in the glass refrigerator! Coffee was dark roast and excellent. Btw, our king sized bed was superb and it was nice to get a tub instead of the ubiquitous shower for a change. IF you are just traveling thru this area and need a nice place to sleep this is a great option.

    5
    « Welcome Home »

Every time we stop here for the night we feel welcome and our business is appreciated. Fantastic staff, desk clerks, breakfast attendant, maids, ALL have a smile and a kind word! Clean, comfortable beds, and rooms larger than an entry closet are all part of the magic of the Staunton Best Western! The Rowe's Restaurant next door is a great place for a family meal, also!

    3
    « Old beds »

We had stained sheets and smudges of something on the wall in the bathroom. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and our room was only 20 feet from a railway track with an unscheduled train. The breakfast was decent and it was close to the highway.

« The BEST Best Western!!!! »

Courteous smiling staff, clean rooms with more in-room amenities than other Best Westerns; a lovely night's sleep; decent selection of TV channels & a wonderful breakfast. This Best Western sets the bar for all the other Best Westerns.

    « Very nice hotel »

This Best Western very nice and the staff are very helpful. Both the main areas and the room were very clean and spacious. Beds were very comfortable. Easy on and off I-81, and good restaurants nearby. Very pet friendly too. We will definitely return.

« Warm and Inviting Stay »

The hospitality of this hotel and its staff can not be described - so friendly and warm. They truly treat you like family. The rooms were pretty and smelled nice - super clean and the beds very comfortable with the plush comforters I can't afford at home. There is an indoor pool (jellybean shaped) that others were using - seem nice. There is a train that came by once - but fast and did not blow whistle and so not a big deal. The breakfast was huge - Belgium Waffles, omelets, fresh berries, etcetera. The value of this hotel far exceeds the price. If you are traveling with pets - the first two floors can accommodate you, top two for those allergic. Again rooms were sooo clean and nice smelling. Stay here if you want to be greeted by your mom!

    5
« Super pet friendly n clean! Great staff! »

Wasn't put in substandard room because we travelled with our dog, which is like our child. Room was clean, close to pet area, overall great place to come back to. Breakfast was amazing along with price of room! We'll definitely be back! Thank you!!!

« Railroad track beahind the hotel »

Located close to Interstate 81 in Staunton Virginia. Good service at the reception desk. Hotel is not new but well maintained. Large room with a small fridge, a micro wave and a safety box. Small indoor swimming pool. Rooms are on 4 floors with only one elevator. Large free parking. Free breakfast and free WIFI with good reception in the room. Cracker Barrel and Rowes family restaurant are walking distance from the hotel. There are also other restaurants in a 2 miles radius. There is a railroad track just behind the hotel. Only one train passed by the hotel in the early evening but we felt it in the room. Very good quality/price ratio.

« Great Hotel with a breakfast to wake up to. »

Great staff that is friendly and helpful. Clean, comfortable, and modern rooms. Best hotel in the area! They are close to the exit, a gas station is right across the street, and two great family restaurants as well.

« Good and Not So Good .. »

Wife and I were traveling North on I 81 yesterday.. after driving for 9 hours we needed a place to stay overnite .. we were close to Staunton .. so we decided to look for a place that we could get a decent nites sleep .. as well as one that was close to restaurants for dinner and breakfast next morning. Arrived late in the afternoon so we didn't have too many options as far as rooms and room locations. We were given a room on 4th floor that was in the back of hotel and and had to sign paperwork confirming we were notified of a train running near hotel .. Being tired .. we decided .. 'how bad could it be' .. Big mistake .. tracks are very close to building ..freight train rumbled by 3 times during the night .. waking us up each time. We left next morning more tired than when we arrived.. Guess we can't complain .. we were warned .. but being that close to tracks is crazy. We would not return due to the noise factor .. if you do get a room .. ask for a room on street side .. I can't believe location would help that much .. train is very loud .. but .. at least it's worth a try. Travelers on I 81 usually are looking for a good nites sleep after a day of driving .. in our opinion this is not the place .. unless you can sleep through the noise .. or .. if can fall asleep quickly after the disturbance. On the good side .. check in clerk was very friendly .. there were 3 restaurants very close by .. Cracker Barrel .. Texas Steak House .. and Mrs Rowe's.. beds were comfortable .. Rooms are abit dated and could use an update .. but .. they were clean. A breakfast was provided .. but .. we were anxious to leave .. so we did not eat there..

    « Awesome Treatment! »

Our party arrived late in the evening (8:00 pm) and were greeted very warmly by the desk staff. Everyone we came into contact with was friendly and made a point to be pleasant. We had our dog along and the staff seemed to be "pet friendly" by greeting the pet and offering dog biscuits. The room and building were clean and well kept but the breakfast was a little weak. The rubber ducky that was left in the bathroom by the hotel was a nice touch as we were headed to a baby shower and this came in useful. We had a very good experience.

    2
    « Never Again!!! »

I usually stay in another hotel when in this area. I was unable to book the one that I have stayed in several time so stayed here because of the ratings. I depend heavily on Trip Advisor while traveling and this is the first time that I have totally disagreed with the ratings and reviews. $134.99 a night for this place is outrageous. I am a light sleeper and the noise from the train is very loud. (my room was in the front). The front desk person who checked me in was not friendly, did not smile, did not seem to want to answer questions - abrupt and cold. The room needed to be updated badly - worn, chipped, faded, lumpy furnishing. Breakfast was uninspiring but edible. The gentleman who checked me out never spoke. No good morning, no was everything to your satisfaction, no safe travels - nothing. Live and learn - First and Last.

    « Not impressed! »

Perhaps the young woman who checked us in set the tone of our stay. She was very unfriendly and couldn't possibly arrange a smile on her face. It's amazing how that can affect your feeling about a hotel. The rooms are okay. We were on the 4th floor at the very end of the hall. The hotel is located outside of town, so to visit the Historic District or any restaurants, you will need to drive. There is one restaurant next door but from looking at the menu, it is down home food only (meatloaf, etc.) which we were not in the mood for. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Like many hotels during the peak color season, it was over-priced. The breakfast is very minimal.

    4
« Good Value for the Price »

Check was fast and the front desk staff was very friendly. My room was on the second floor but not problem because they do have an elevator. Pros Conveniently located off IH-81 A couple of restaurants almost next door Elevator Ample free parking Nice indoor pool Courteous staff Comfortable bed Room has a small refrigerator and microwave. The fridge has a small freezer compartment so you can recharge ice packs easily Cons Dated hotel that could use some serious updating Furnishings in my room were a throw back to the 80's. One chair had something on it that glowed with UV and as a result I decided not to use that chair. I carry a UV black light to inspect rooms for true cleanliness. UV illuminates things invisible in normal room light. Over all the room furnishings and carpet were pretty clean. I would give them a B+. The bathroom, however, could use some serious attention. While appearing clean in room light, the toilet, adjoining wall and back of the bathroom door lit up light a Christmas tree under the unflinching scrutiny of UV light. Microwave has a dial. . . Seriously? Come on, this is 2016 and they have a microwave that is a throwback to 30 years ago. To top that, it is screwed to the top of the refrigerator to keep it from being stolen. You can't even find these things at cheesy flea markets anymore. I am in here in business trip that has me staying for a few nights. All in all, the hotel is conveniently located and a good value for the price. Would I stay here again? Sure, the hotel is reasonably priced, comfortable and clean and suits my needs for a a place to rest in the evenings and have a hot shower.j

« Traveling near Staunton, VA? Stay here! »

We loved everything about this hotel and are looking for a reason to return to the Staunton area so that we can stay here! There is nothing about our experience that we did not like. We booked directly through the hotel and received an excellent price. Room was very clean and comfortable, staff was always pleasant and helpful, and the breakfast was one of the most complete we've ever found at any hotel. Highly recommended.

    « Granddaughter's College »

My granddaughter and I stayed at this Best Western when I was helping her choose a college 3-1/2 years ago. We were impressed with the staff and their knowledge of the local are. She is a senior now and we have visited her several times a year every year that she has been a student. We always stay at this Best Western. Our granddaughter is planning on staying in the Staunton area after graduation so I see lots of visits to the hotel in our future.

    4
    « Comfortable Stay »

We were extremely lucky to find a room at the Best Western Staunton Inn (they had a last-minute cancellation). There were no rooms to be had at any of the hotels off I81 due to a Nascar race at Martinsville and home games at most all the colleges in Virginia. The room was clean and in good repair. The bed was very comfortable. The lady at the front desk was super friendly and very helpful. The breakfast wasn't anything spectacular, but was perfectly adequate. We decided on the breakfast sandwiches and muffins. The coffee was very good and hot. I'm not sure what there is in the area to do as we were only passing through, but there are at least 3 restaurants within walking distance that I noticed. We decided on the Texas Steakhouse and Saloon (food was fine, service not so fine).

    « Needs An Adjustment »

First let me say that the staff was very friendly and the location is convenient to 81. One of my traveling companions also enjoyed the pool after a day of hiking. However for the price it really needs a major update! The room smelled old, rug was bumpy in spots, furniture chipped, and the one chair was a old recliner which I really didn't want to sit in. I didn't know about the train at 10:30 PM and had to get up to unplug the fridge because of the noise it gave off. The hair dryer kept over heating and had to be turned off... not fun. Small brkfst room with the usual free fare, not appetizing. First floor room window was right on the ground and a motorcycle decided to get a very early start. Bed was comfortable and clean. Bathroom shower curtain needed replacing. Price of room needs to be adjusted!

    5
« Breakfast is above the norm »

This hotel is exceptionally clean and well-maintained, and the staff is very friendly. I was especially impressed with the breakfast--fresh berries, grapes, and cheese cubes were avsilable. And coconut for my oatmeal!

    3
    « Hotel needs updating »

Bed was comfortable and clean as was the room. However, furniture was from the 60's which I did not expect considering how much this room cost. Looked like the door lock was replaced but still needing to be finished.

    « Comfortable stay »

We stopped here on our way home from Myrtle Beach. Close to I81 so convenient for getting back on the highway in the morning. The rooms are a little small but okay for an overnight. The beds are comfortable and the room was spotless. Nice staff. There is a rail line that runs behind the hotel and the staff explain that if you are getting a room on that side of the hotel. We only had 1 train run by and that was early in the evening so we did not get disturbed. Breakfast was very nice however the set up is cramped. Nice Virginia Made shop within walking distance and a great restaurant Mrs. Rowes, all homemade and delicious.

    1
    « Don't STAY! »

This was a Very Old Hotel and Really Dirty! There was a very Musty Odor! Honestly, it was Really Bad! Being Newer is not my first criteria, but being Clean Is! Don't stay here! And what they say in the reviews is true about being next to railroad tracks with trains in the night and you have to sign when you check in that you know about that!

    5
    « Great Hotel »

We as HOG members stayed at this hotel. Front desk fast and efficient and pleasant. Clean comfortable rooms at a decent price. Great rebate for HOG members and CAA members. Make sure to ask for a room on the side that the train does not pass. Steakhouse just next door which was also pleasant and in walking distance.

    5
    « Great Stopover! »

I made a reservation while going on our trip to Georgia. We were very happy with the service this hotel provided. The staff members are very helpful and welcoming. The room was a good size and equipped with a refrigerator and microwave as well as a safe. Instead of having just one comfortable chair to sit in, there were two! The beds and bedding were comfortable. The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was the usual for this type of hotel, but there were a wide variety of choices. The staff in the breakfast room were very pleasant and accommodating. I know at this time of year there are many 'Snow Birds' like us heading South and this is such a convenient spot right off of I-81. There were several restaurants within walking distance. They very nicely left a sweet little rubber ducky in our room for us with an invitation to return. I have not been to a Best Western for several years since we had a bad stay at one out West. In fact, it was so bad that I wrote a letter of complaint which I rarely do! Best Western was kind enough to reply with a debit card for $50.00 to use at a future Best Western. I tucked it away for a few years and put it in my wallet for this trip thinking that it might still be loaded. When we arrived at the hotel the gentleman who checked us in took the card and said he would check on it and if it was still good, he would then apply the $50.00 to our balance of payment . I was pleasantly surprised to find that it worked and we paid $50.00 less for our stay. So, this made our stay even better. Best Western won back our loyalty!! And we found this hotel to be superior to the many similar hotels we have stayed in during our travels. We will definitely be back!!

    « Homey Hotel »

Great service, very clean and easy on and off the interstate. Stayed here before, will come back when in the area. Loved the little yellow duck in the bathroom. They are pet friendly and made us feel very welcome. A very good restaurant was next door, did not have to drive to get dinner.

    5
« Great place to stay »

    « Extraordinary »

I am so pleased with staying at the Staunton, VA Best Western Hotel. The staff, offerings and rooms are always a five star hotel in my opinion. The price for a room has always been competitive and I always use Best Western Hotels when I have a choice. Thank you.

« Quick Stop for a Few Spartans »

A quick stop for us and a few other crazy Spartan racers tackling Wintergreen in September. Conveniently located with several dining options nearby. Rooms and hotel in general were impressively clean. Having a fridge and microwave were awesome for that 4am meal prep that comes with running early in the morning. As a bonus, I did find a left-behind omelet thing in the microwave. It may have had onions in it, but I couldn't get anyone to try it to be sure. haha Very friendly staff for a reasonable price.

    5

    « Nice »

We stay here about once a year or so. Made reservations yesterday. Rooms are spotless and comfortable. Front desk people are very friendly and very nice. Just so you know: the bottom floor is literally 20 feet from a train track. No horns blow but you may hear it at night. Ask for upper floor. We normally do and never hear the train. First floor take your chances. Had we more time to reserve we ask for upper floors! But the hotel,is very nice

« A great Best Western Hotelern to stay at »

This hotel offered a lot of extra, 1 A great and helpful staff. 2 A hand hold the get in and out of the shower, 3 A little rubber ducky as a memento of our stay. 4 A good breakfast. 5 The friendliest staff we have every meet. Will stay there again.

« Improved in some areas a loss in others »

The BW owners have added a Breakfast room making it easier to enjoy their "average" BW breakfast. Nothing speical on their menu but food was hot and pretty good. Few folks can have scrambled eggs cooked the right way on a steam table. The Bad and loss was the total lack of WiFi hookup. Simply could not connect. I spend a good deal of my time and working hours on the web so being unable to access was a real downer for me. I will look for someplace else to stay next trip through

    2
    « Not interney savey »

I tried and tried to log onto the internet, to no avail. After wasting a half hour. I called the front desk. They told me to bring my computer to the front desk a nd they would hook me up there. Did that, after spending over a hour they could not hook me up either. There were several other who called the front desk with similar problems, the front desk could not HELP anyone......

« A ducky place to stay the night while on the road »

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in Best Western Staunton Inn while on the road from New Jersey to North Carolina. It was the perfect place to stop for the night. Right next door was the Mrs Rowe's Family Restaurant. And if you like up the road a little bit is the Texas Steak House. What more could you ask for? The Inn was clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our king bed room was roomy with microwave and small refrigerator. And best of all was a complimentary Ducky on our bathtub! Amenities included indoor pool, complimentary breakfast 6 to 10:00 daily.

    5
« Great Dog Friendly Hotel »

Very easy on/off access to Interstate 81. Pet rooms seem to be on the first floor (our's was)and exit door leads to a nice area to walk your dog. Rooms were very clean and comfortable and I took advantage of the free coffee 24 hours!

    3
« side exit and good breakfast »

If they want you to exit by side door, they should put automatic door openers and a flat curb so you don't have to lift luggage down into parking lot . Also leave a parking place empty so we don't have to squeeze between cars with our luggage. Breakfast was great with fresh fruit, choice of milks, teas, yogurts, and oatmeals. All my favorites.

    4
« Good for the money »

This motel is conveniently located off the interstate with easy access. It is very nice for the price and has plenty of restaurants in the area. Their breakfast was good and I plan to stay there again on my next trip through the area.

    « great overnight stay »

On our way to smoky mountain, we stayed overnight there . The hotel is in very good condition with clean and wide room equipped with a microwave and refrigerator. The breakfast was great with many choice. Had a free WiFi with good signal. Very friendly staff. Would recommend it if you look for a budget clean hotel the meet your needs.

« Excellent place to stay »

We stay at a lot of Best Western hotels and this is our favorite. The lobby. hallways and rooms always have a fresh smell, the rooms are great and the facility has easy access from the highway. The breakfast is excellent and the staff is very friendly.

« Not what the reviews seemed to reflect »

On our return trip home from vacationing in Nashville and based upon the reviews we booked a night at the Best Western, Staunton Inn. Check in was OK, but when we got to our room it was kind dirty and there was black hair in the tub as if it hadn't been cleaned. There was only one small bar of hand soap and no shampoos or conditioners (good thing we always pack some of our own). The AC was loud and during the night I heard the train come through directly behind the hotel. In the morning we didn't stay for breakfast, we were just glad leave and head dome for a decent nights sleep. Definitely not my choice for any return trips.

    5
    « Wonderful overnight stay »

The condition and cleanliness of the hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff were pleasant and very cheerful and helpful. This was the nicest Best Western that my wife and I have stayed at. The location was also very good with an easy on/off the Interstate.

    4
    « Good hotel »

We have stayed at the Best Western Staunton Inn many times and in the past have been very satisfied. However, this time, the heating system in our room did not work. It was a cold night and we were uncomfortable because of no heat. No extra blankets were available.

    5
    « A welcome respite! »

While rated only a 2-star hotel (in the AAA tour book), it felt nicer than that and was reasonably priced. We felt comfortable and right at home. Luggage racks, night light, plenty of counter space in the bathroom, working Wi-Fi, recycling available throughout, good breakfast with decent variety, made it a nice place to stay. If we are ever in the Staunton area again, we would gladly make a reservation there.

    5
    « Had a great nights stay. »

The hotel was extremely clean and comfortable. The staff was kind and courteous. Continental breakfast items were many and plentiful. The area was quiet and peaceful. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

    « OUR FAVORITE PLACE ON I-81 »

We have family in the Staunton area so have the opportunity to stay in town a couple times a year. Have used several motels in the vicinity but this Best Western is, by far, our favorite. The rooms are very clean, well maintained and equipped. The staff is about as nice and accommodating as any I've seen in true 5-star hotels. On our most recent stay, my brother needed to leave their dog while attending a late morning family gathering. Their room was not quite ready, so the front desk just volunteered to watch the pooch for them! That is true service. Add to that the free hot breakfast and pool, and you have a nice package for just about everyone. Others have commented on pet odor in their rooms and while that may be the case in some of their rooms, we could not detect anything in ours. My only comment may be that their new satellite tv (Dish) system's remote controls may be a bit much for some of their ahem..."older" clients. They may consider offering a simpler remote for those who ask. One hint; always ask for a "road side" room. There is a train track directly behind the place and at least 2x/night coal trains from W Va rumble by on their way to Hampton Roads. Guaranteed to wake you up!

    3
« Great location for our trip home. »

New looking building, however, tired looking room with a 'wet dog' smell and very damp air. Possibly the rug was recently cleaned and not quite dry. However, our room was very clean as was the lobby and breakfast area. Overwhelming chlorine odor from the pool are pervaded the whole lobby.

    3
    « Overnight Stay »

Room looked clean, bed was comfortable, however.....there was a bad stench of dog urine in the room. Also the train is only a matter of feet from the hotel. Sounded like it was going to come right through the wall. Breakfast was good, lots of variety. Beautiful swimming pool. The worse part was the smell. Would not recommend.

    « Odors »

Room looked clean and presentable, breakfast was good, however as this hotel allows dogs, there was a strong odor of urine in the room. That in itself turned us off this hotel. Would not recommend but only due to the smell.

    « Over night stay »

We were traveling back from the outer banks to WV and stayed here over night. I have two small children and one small dog. They are pet friendly! They also have a nice indoor which they were kind enough to open early so my little boy could go swimming before we left. They offer a very nice continental breakfast. Overall a very good experience.

    « Friendly Staff »

Very friendly staff. Willing to help and answer any questions. very fast check in experience and express check out is great. Good variety of food choices for breakfast and it starts at 6 am. Located right off the interstate and easy to get to. It is within walking distance to 3 good restaurants

    « Surprise! »

We booked on line and checked in around 10pm. Nice clerk handed me a piece of paper to sign disclosing something about a train. I was tired and wanted to get to my room. Room looked nice and was clean. We had a 6 hour drive ahead of us in the morning so we wanted to hit the sack right away. Suddenly, I thought a train was going to hit our room. What a roar! Train came by again sometime in the nigh. Next morning we looked out the window and the train track is literally next to the building. Between the train noise and a loud a/c compressor kicking on and off I got almost no sleep. On the plus side the breakfast was fine however I will never stay there again.

« On the way home »

This is a nice clean and comfortable motel that is convenient to the highway. We arrived a little late in the evening and looking for dinner. The desk clerk told us that Mrs Rowe's next door would be closing soon, but they would still serve us if we got there before 9pm.

« My stay at Best Western Staunton Inn »

What a great hotel. Everything was clean and neat. There was even a rubber duck in our bathroom. We know we will always have a great experience at Best Westerns. There was a train track behind the hotel, but we hardly heard it.

« Very Pleasant and Helpful Staff »

It is conveniently located close to the highway. The staff was very friendly. The rooms nice and clean, and the breakfast had an amazing variety of offerings - both hot and cold. I was impressed at the creative way they presented the hot breakfast items. No chafing dishes but lots of food ready for the microwave - from oatmeal to omelets. It was pet friendly and nice. I would stay here again.

« Best Western Staunton Inn »

Had a very good experience. Staff is friendly, hotel is clean and location is great. Very pretty town, fun things to do, historic farms, brewery, antique store, and the best gelato I've tasted in a long time. Pool was clean and rooms are very comfortable and up to date.

The lady at the counter was wonderful she called house keeping and got them started on our room. We were a little early we went to eat lunch and she called and told me room was ready. Checked in, we had reservations to ride horses at 2 had plenty of time to relax after 5 hour trip. The breakfast was one of the best I have had at hotel...

« Best Western Staunton is a Very Nice Motel »

Best Western Staunton is a very good hotel for travelers, or visitors to Staunton. Staff was extremely nice, motel was extremely clean, room was very clean, as well. Had no problem during our single night stay. Highly recommended.

    5
    « Enjoyed the stay »

It was a nice hotel with an indoor pool, and Susan at the front desk bent over backwards to accommodate us. We were on the train side of the hotel, and it didn't wake us up! And, the breakfast was a nice buffet spread...and even had fresh berries.

    « Great hotel »

Everyone on staff was friendly and looking to make sure the stay was enjoyable. Check-in was professional, friendly and quick. The room was a nice size with comfortable beds and chair. Easy access to electrical outlets. Breakfast was good with a nice assortment. There is a pool located right off the lobby. Check-out was just like check-in - a nice experience. Definitely would stay here again

    5
    « Friendly »

My husband and I stayed here in our way home from our sons house. The staff was super friendly and the facilities were clean. Had a good variety for breakfast. The beds and pillow were comfortable. It is pet friendly. The staff and housekeeping actually came over and said hi to our dog! Most places just ignore her. It was a very nice stay and we will be back

    « Great Value/Great Location/Great Staff »

We have stayed at this hotel several times as we relocate to the Augusta County area. We appreciate knowing we will have a positive, consistent experience. The front desk personnel and easy checkout are one reason we stay here.

    « Passing threw. »

This motel was a very nice place to stay and very clean. Everything was very well kept and in it's place. The breakfast was more than enough for any breakfast and well supplied. I would highly recommend staying here if you were in the area.

    « Great hospitality! »

The staff goes above and beyond to be friendly and helpful. We checked in around midnight after many hours on the road, and the staff person who greeted us was so friendly and welcoming to both us and our dog. It's rare to find a nice hotel that's dog-friendly and doesn't charge extra. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the breakfast was excellent. Great stop!

    4
    « Nice Hotel »

This is a nice "pet friendly" hotel. The rooms are a decent size, beds are comfortable and bath is clean. There is a Flat screen TV and free wi fi available. One word of caution is that there is a train that comes through very close to the building. Request to be in the front of the building if this may bother you.

    4
« Great Location; Great Stay »

Best Westerns are a great choice, especially when traveling with pets. The Best Western Staunton was very new and in a terrific location near Charlottesville. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, an indoor pool, and ample breakfast. The motel shared a parking lot with Mrs. Rowe's Restaurant, a local family owed bakery with three meals a day country cooking. Well worth the stop.

    4
« Comfortable stay with our new puppy »

Truly welcoming to pets and comfortable for humans too! Friendly staff, nice room, good breakfast, and ample area in back for walking pets. It was our first night in a hotel room with our new puppy and it went well. We all got rest and she even got to ride in the elevator. We will be back!

    4
    « Convenient and comfortable »

Clean, comfortable and modern. This Best Western is close to the interstate and there are 2 restaurants within walking distance. It is only about 2 miles to downtown Stauton, where there are lots of dining options. Staff was helpful and friendly.

    « Last Room Available »

Driving back from DC after having a nice big meal in Harrisonburg with a friend, thought we were going to spend the night there--thing again. Had to drive to Staunton to find a room in a well lit, safe location. Best Western had one last room available. CLEAN, cool and quiet. Hot breakfast was good, nice assortment of hot and cold items. Kept it stocked well and clean. Like the rubber ducky in the room for a souvenir, nice touch. Handicapped room, not so much, tub not accessible for person who uses wheelchair, will need to ask detailed questions about the room if you need it.

    2
« not what we would expect from Best Western »

The room was a nice size and at a decent (although not excellent) price - $97. However, the carpet throughout was lumpy, the bed sagged terribly, the bathroom was not clean and everything looked old and dirty. The coffee maker still had yesterday's (I hope) remains in it.

    5
    « Like a Second Home »

The staff was so helpful in helping us plan our site seeing-in what to visit, dining, parking, and avoiding ticket traps. The breakfast was way more than your standard continential breakfast. Easy access to town and easy parking compared to downtown. Great value for your money. Clean.

    4
« 2nd time at this nice friendly hotel »

Would stop here again. Our 2nd time at this nice friendly hotel and they upgraded the breakfast area. Staff is excellent. An occasional freight train my catch you off guard but not a big problem. I would stay here again.

    5
    « En route »

Stayed here overnight as we were making our way to S Carolina. On line booking made check in a breeze. We were greeted in a friendly manner-room was very clean and comfortable. It was quiet- we were told we were on the train side-only one came by and it was before we went to sleep. Price was really reasonable and they served a free breakfast that offered a nice selection.

    4
    « Good stay »

We had a pleasant stay here. The staff was friendly and check in and out is quick and easy. Our room was clean and had everything you would need. It is located next to a very good restaurant. It is easy to find from the interstate. I would have no problem recommending this hotel or staying here again.

    4
    « Great hospitality! »

This was a great hotel. The staff was very friendly and the accommodations were nice and clean. Rooms have a table and an easy chair so there's not really a good work station if you have some stuff you need to get done. Very close to a great steakhouse and Cracker Barrel. Also a nice mom and pop restaurant next door that was very busy. The only con was that the blankets were very thin - but perhaps that's what they use in summer. I am sure they had extras had I thought I would have needed one.

    4
« Nice hotel, but, oh, those trains out back! »

I will say up front, this hotel was clean, comfortable, and easily accessed off I-81, but if you stay, be aware there is an active railroad within 100 feet of the rear of the hotel. Three trains passed during the night, and they were very noisy. Fortunately there was no crossing nearby, so the trains didn't blow a horn as they passed. Again, I would say if you stay here, ask for a room away from the tracks.

    3
« Good value for money »

Beds, breakfast and internet connection all very good though the hotel was a bit dated and required some renovations. On average a good value for money. I would recommend to families who wish to visit Staunton and are not able to stay in the city.

    3
    « LAST MINUTE OASIS »

My wife and I were trying to make it to Philadelphia driving up from Atlanta but due to horrendous traffic on I-81 NB, we had to find a hotel that accepts pets at the last minute. We lucked out at this BW given it was close to midnight and turned out to be almost full. Susan at front desk welcomed us. All the staff we met that night and next day were very friendly and we enjoyed a good night's rest. Room was clean and while bed was a bit soft for us, it served the purpose quite well. Kudos to the staff here.

« Wonderful place to stay »

I just spent the night in Staunton on the way back home from DC. This hotel was right off the interstate. The rooms were nice. The price was great. Breakfast had a nice variety. The hotel looked like it was new. The people at the desk were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this for more than one night if you were in the area and needed it. I was very pleased.

    1
    « Don't stay here if driving a RV...very small parking lot! »

Susan gave wrong address to motel and didn't ask on what interstate we were traveling on to get there. Patsy was very helpful! Their parking lot is very, very small and not ample for trailers or RV's. Our room was very outdated, bathtub plumbing pipes knocked when turned on (as well as 2nd floor room), our room on railroad track side which is very close to motel. The train ran twice during the late hours of the night. The breakfast bar serving area is very small as well as the swimming pool. I will not go back to this motel even if they paid me. Susan should be reported to corporate for her non-caring attitude upon my arrival!

    4
« Convenient and Reasonably Priced »

We stayed here as we started off our vacation. This is nice hotel with a friendly staff. Convenient to Staunton, Shenandoah NP, the interstate and dining. The hotel room was nice, good bed and good internet service. The hotel is next to a nice restaurant though we did not eat there. The town is nearby and easy to get to. Overall a pleasant experience and good stop for the night. The breakfast buffet is adequate to get you started.

    5
    « good stay »

every thing was perfect for a one night stay. Amenities were plentiful. service staff were pleasant and helpful. Location convenient to I-81. Even the water bottle was a nice gesture. Also a nice choice of restaurants were available. Steak house and Cracker barrel were within a very short distance. Also an old established restaurant was next door. A few of the guests recommended this restaurant but we were exhausted and just wanted something light to eat so we opted for Cracker Barrel.

    5
    « Tidy and Affordable »

This hotel is conveniently located by the highway, and is near several restaurants and and small gift shops. Overall the breakfast was good, the room and bathroom were clean, and the staff was very obliging and helpful. I'd recommend staying here if you're looking for something tidy, serviceable, and affordable.

    3
    « need new pillows »

a clean room, a little out dated ,breakfast was not as good as other BW hotels. The pillows have a lot to be desired. Restaurant next door had great home cooking real homemade food and great pie. i would stay again if passing thru for one night

    4
« Very good balance of price and quality »

Everything was very good, one of the beloved budget hotel chains while staying in US, especially when comparing with some other hotels. The service was very nice, some improvement could be made as to breakfast in terms of making it more "vegetable-friendly", but in general it is a very good hotel that is worth staying at!

    5
    « Great place »

Staunton Va. Best Western Inn and Suites is a wonderful, clean place to stay. The pool is great; the complimentary breakfast is great and the front desk folks were helpful with dinner recommendations. I would stay there again.

    5
    « Great stay »

Got the govt. rate since it was a business trip. Comfortable, clean. Nice staff, good friendly attitude. Rooms are always nice. I stay here often. Convenient location without the traffic. Great breakfast. Could use a fitness room and hot tub.

    2
    « Quality Not There »

I am a regular of Trip Advisor and am usually in agreement with the reviews. This is the exception. If you are used to staying at Motel 6 or Days Inn, this hotel will meet your qualifications. Trip Advisor rated this at #3 in the area, not for me. The exterior and lobby were fine and the breakfast was OK, the berries were a nice addition; but our room was not worth the $97.00 we paid for it. Sheets were paper thin, furniture old and the chairs were stained. Bathroom not clean, faucets were dirty. Next night stayed at a Country Inn and Suites which cost less and was wonderful, clean room and the breakfast was excellent.

« Staunton BW Great Accommodations, BEST BEDS, Personal touch in decor »

BEST WESTERN always our first pick. We do own a timeshare which accounts for most of our stays but we always choose BW while traveling to and from because we are assured the most comfortable beds always. (My business travel is made by my employer always at luxurious resorts the beds are never any better than BW)

    4
« yearly trip to FLA »

our third/fourth trip that we stayed in Staunton....first time our room was kind of dreary....it was not dirty in any way, but room objects felt like they were thrown together and not of quality.....i will probably stay again and see if it was just that room number!....

    5
    « Really nice Hotel »

We arrived without reservations, but they had rooms and we checked in. The front desk folks were friendly and quick to get us set up with rooms. I loved that they welcomed us with a bottle of water. A nice extra touch! The rooms were clean and well maintained. The beds of good quality. They added a little rubber duck in the bathroom with a note that said take me home with you. Again just a little touch that added to the experience. They offer fresh coffee for free 24 hours a day..... Again it is the little things that make the difference between a good place and a great place to stay. The free breakfast was the normal fare. but still tasty and good. I would recommend if you are looking a hotel on your travels.... Stay here!

    5
    « One womans opinion »

This stop was a pass thru for my husband and I. The hotel is close to a major highway , but not so close as to be noisy. The rooms are clean and well lit, and the bathroom has tub and shower with decent water pressure for showering. The only draw back was th bed could have been more comfortable. It was a bit lumpy and too soft with 3 small squarish pillows. Breakfast in the morning is a nice touch, and all staff we interacted with were very friendly.

    5
« Great place to stay! »

It was so clean, reasonable, and the staff was absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend this hotel. Pet friendly which I like because we like to take our Chihuahua with us when we travel. A great area to walk our pet.

    5
    « Great Stay »

Great stay! The staff went above and beyond. Pristine indoor pool and a great breakfast with fresh berries! Clean and very quiet rooms and a good location. Even rubber duckies for the kids. Very helpful staff and we will stay again out next time through.

    3
« Average, clean, quiet, nice proximaty to 81 »

I'd rather give a 3.5 than a straight 3 rating for this hotel if I could. The room was nice and clean, the a/c worked very well, in fact we had to turn it off for a few hours at one point. The rubber duckie in the bathroom was a cute touch that won the 7 year old over lol. Our room faced the train tracks, we had at least 2 trains go through while we were there but we barely heard a thing. Definitely wouldn't have been loud enough to wake me up if I were asleep, and I am a light sleeper. The closet area in the room is small, and the dresser was kind of odd...it looked like it should be 4 drawers but was really 2 very deep drawers. The breakfast was decent for a free breakfast, not the best hotel breakfast I've had but not the worse either. We were all able to find things that we liked and there was someone constantly cleaning and refilling. We didn't interact with the staff much but they all seemed approachable. The pool was a little chilly for a heated pool and on the small side, but very clean, which is a huge plus, I feel like most hotel pools get a bit neglected and that was clearly not the case here. We ate dinner at the Hometown Grill across the street and it was pretty good food for a decent price.

    5
« Very nice and Clean place. Loved It »

This was an awesome place. Was in a great location. awesome staff. Was to stay 1 night and ended up staying 3 nights. Rooms clean, big, bed was great, nice bathrooms. This was the best Best western I have ever stayed at. Much nicer than a normal Best Western. This was more like a Best Western Plus

    4
    « Excellent staff »

The staff at the Staunton Best Western is excellent and the Inn is pet friendly. The breakfast meal provides variety and the dining area is clean and well maintained. Families enjoy the pool and parking is plentiful and convenient. Mrs. Rowe's country restaurant is right next door and offers home-cooked meals and scrumptious home-made desserts, all at a reasonable price. The wait staff there is very friendly and helpful. The Inn is close to the I-81 highway exit and there are several gas stations nearby.

    4
« Fresh Berries for Breakfast »

A very pleasant stay with great extra touches like plenty of luggage holders, towels, fresh berries & both local + USA Today newspapers. Just off exit 222 I-81 wirh comfortable beds & some updating. A train was heard once in the night, but not bothersome. A good deal through Hotwire at $72 Inc tax. Would definitely recommend.

« Perfect Stay on a Motorcycle Vacation »

We stayed here one night on a week long motorcycle trip. The staff was most helpful even offering to let us park the bikes under the drive up overhang. There was also a bike wash station. The room was wonderful and the wifi was fast enough for everything we needed. And the breakfast that was included good. We certainly enjoyed our stay there in all ways.

    5
    « Relaxing Stay »

We came to visit the Appalachian Trail through the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Shenandoah National Park. Our reservation said our room faced the train tracks but it was never a problem. The staff, both front desk and housekeeping, was friendly and helpful. I will stay there again the next time I visit the area.

    5
    « Comfortable hotel »

Hotel was clean, easy to get to and comfortable. Staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the breakfast and would stay there again. Staunton was a nice town and the visitor's center was a wealth of information. We'll stop there again on our trips south.

    5
    « Excellent customer service »

The staff is friendly and willing to assist you, from front desk to breakfast servers to housekeeping. A great location, with good prices and very easy to access. Easy walking to three great restaurants. They are also biker friendly, have been here in the past on motorcycles. Service has always been exceptional.

    5
    « Nice! »

Location is right off the highway. Very clean hotel, exceptionally friendly staff. Very good continental breakfast. Located right next to a really good restaurant too! My husband and I arrived on motorcycles and they were very accommodating with letting us park under the overhang. When they learned we arrived on motorcycles we were given motorcycle themed rubber ducks, apparently a Best Western thing. Very cute.

    5
    « Friendly »

Friendly front desk staff who went above and beyond to help with a small problem, clean room, right next door to Rowe's Restaurant and right off Interstate 81. Free internet and breakfast. Used Priceline and was very satisfied with my stay.

    5
    « Enjoyed Our Stay. . . »

Our room was and comfortable, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. One side of the hotel is next to a railroad track, and our room was on that side, but if trains came through during the night we did not hear them. The hotel is also next to Mrs. Rowe's Restaurant, which is convenient. There are several touches that make the hotel a pleasant and welcome place--from the sculptures outside and in the lobby to the little rubber duck on the bathtub. We would stay here again.

    4
    « Good Place »

« nice stay on way thru VA »

Our stay was a stop-over on our way to OBX. We decided on BW for the location and reasonable rates. Everything was very nice, including staff. Our breakfast was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Our only complaint was an odor out of air conditioner.

    4
« Good budget minded hotel »

The first thing we noticed was the big smile on Patsy's face to greet us. She looked after our check in as we were earlier than the stated 3pm time. She had rooms cleaned for us and offered to store our bags so we could continue riding our bikes. The rooms are a bit dated but they they were clean and the beds comfortable. The breakfast was decent but lacked hot eggs and breakfast meats. They did have waffle makers and a really nice selection of fruits. Would stay here again.

    5
    « Good experience »

Our experience with the Best Western Staunton Inn in Staunton, VA has been very good. My husband and I have been coming here several times a year on our vacations. It is a fun area to visit and a good hotel to stay in. Breakfast is very good. The rooms are comfortable and the staff is kind and friendly. We love it here!

    5
    « Personal consideration »

This particular Best Western hotel has been very accommodating with special needs my husband and I have. They have been able to provide us with a handicapped room and a recliner on each stay. The breakfast choices are varied enough to suit our needs as well.

« great dog friendly motel »

The Staff was friendly and courteous. Rooms were comfortable and clean. No dog fee was great, and there was adequate grass area for walking.. Nice parks and beautiful mountain experiences nearby. The continental breakfast was good and there were plenty of dining options close by, including Cracker Barrel--always great.. We'll stay here again.

« Great place to stay »

We were just passing through on our two week road trip and booked this room through Trip Advisor and what a gem. We enjoyed our stay. Nice, clean, quite room and an amazing complimentary breakfast. Courteous friendly staff. Would highly recommend and return if I passed that way again!

« One More Shout Out for the BW Staunton »

We have stayed numerous times at this lovely hotel and are never disappointed. The most recent stay was this past weekend. The rooms are always clean, the staff are always friendly (particularly Susan on this visit), and the breakfast bar is exceptional. We hope to continue to frequent the Best Western because it is THE BEST!

  • 5
    « Good Value »

This was the best price in Staunton for a hotel with pool. We stayed on the railroad side of the hotel, but it was not a problem at all. The trains did not whistle as they went by, there were very few of them and did not wake us up. Also the view was better on that side-the woods versus the parking lot.

    5
« One of the BEST hotels of the last 20 stays! »

Very clean and up to date. Helpful staff and an excellent breakfast. Desk clerk recommended a restaurant nearby that we could walk to for dinner, and it was a wonderful experience. Can not overstate the delightful stay in this hotel.

    5
    « Great Stay »

Great stay. Rates were higher because of graduation weekend is the only complaint. Breakfast was OK- continental. Coffee was good. Staff very friendly. Has pool, very clean. Close to US 81 and US 64 is a plus.

    4
    « Comfortable and convenient »

When on a long road trip, I don't need a fancy hotel, but I do appreciate one that's easy to find off of the Interstate, has a decent breakfast, comfortable bed and clean bathroom. The Best Western has all this and the friendliest front desk staff I've encountered in years. Is it a Virginia thing? I don't know, but it was an easy place to spend the night, and I can recommend it.

    4
    « Staunton »

This is my "go to" hotel in this area. Staff always friendly and helpful. Rooms comfortable. Easy access to interstate. Several restaurants nearby; I usually opt to just walk next door to Mrs. Rowe's.

    5
    « Consistently exceptional »

I've stayed 3 times- always the same as the time before-wonderful! The staff is warm and friendly, the the breakfast starts the day off the right way! I joined the Best Western club because of this hotel.

« Fine Hotel for an Ovenight »

I agree with the vast majority of reviewers that this is a fine hotel for an overnight stay. Yes the room is not that of a,boutique hotel in France. But it is,clean, well-furnished and comfortable. The folks on the front desk could not have been more pleasant and welcoming. The price is right, and the hotel is very pet friendly. Everything we look for.

    5
    « Nice hotel »

This is a very nice place to stay. Our room was clean, quite large. Parking is easy and secure. Breakfast room could be a bit larger. But all things considered, this is an excellent place to stay overnight.

    5
    « Consistent Positive Experience »

We have stayed at this BW and others as well, however, this Staunton Inn is the only one that has provided positive experience every stay. The service is spot on, the staff is courteous and attentive, rooms are clean, beds comfortable and rooks are maintained, all amenities operate properly.

    2
    « Run down hotel »

Since the Best Western Staunton Inn was rated #3 on Tripadvisor out of 16 hotels in Staunton, I was disappointed when I got there. The hotel looks run down and not well maintained and updated. The room was furnished in the old burgundy and green combination from the 90's. The two chairs in the room looked dirty and I was careful not to put my hands on the arm rests when sitting. The bed itself appeared clean and the mattress fairly comfortable. We had the room with the two queen beds, and each bed had three pillows. Bathroom was not very clean, there was mold in the bathroom, and the bathroom light was flickering for a long time before it stayed on. There was a brown stain on the toilet seat. Other reviewers talked about how friendly the staff was, but I didn't experience that at either the front desk or the breakfast area. The friendliest person was the housekeeper. I noticed the train tracks behind the hotel, and asked her about that. She said that people with rooms on that side of the hotel do tell her that they hear the train. Luckily our room was on the front side. Since this is a pet friendly hotel, I requested a pet free room due to allergies. They have a small indoor pool in the front. I have found that with Best Westerns, the quality can vary from one to another due to different management, so I'm always taking a chance choosing a hotel from that chain. I have not stayed in the other hotels in Staunton so cannot comment on those, but just surprised that this had a #3 rating. Wifi was slow. I would not stay here again, and can't help but wonder about the legitimacy of some of the other reviews.

Always a good stay at the Staunton Best Western! Efficient, friendly staff, immaculately clean rooms, comfy beds, good size. Nice clean breakfast area. We stay here every time we are on Rt. 81 near the Staunton area. Great home cooked meals next door at Rowe's.

« Good choice of hotel »

The hotel was very clean and fresh. The staff was attentive and nice. The breakfast buffet was clean, well presented and very good! It was easy to get to this location from traveling in the area. The hotel also accepted my AARP discount. Will reccomend this hotel, and hotel chain, to others.

Breakfast could have been more complete. Pillows very uncomfortable! Everything else was very good. We travel with a small dog and our room was great to be able to get him outside. I wish there had been a better place to walk him.

    « Great spot , great location »

This was basically a stop over night travelling from south to north but definitely a perfect stay over. It is very close to the 77 highway - exit 222 to be exact. Texas steak house is right next store, walking distance and food was great, breakfast was included with our stay and free wifi...great value....noticed this hotel was a winner with trip advisor for 2015...even better....room are clean, spacious and great shower!!! Made a note to make this a stop over again.

Great experience at the BW in Staunton VA. The Inn was very easy to find - right off of Route 81. Our family has and will always stay at a Best Western. At this location, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast selections in the morning.

Arrived late last night to be greeted by Dana and I think her name was Melissa (short blond hair) warm welcoming smile, helpful and very professional. Room was clean, bed and pillows were awesome! Slept like a baby. In the morning was greeted again by a warm welcoming smile, helpful and very professional Patsy. Breakfast was great with alot of choices. I would highly recommend Best Western Staunton Inn.

    « Love This Place »

This is the third year we have stayed here with our cat on our way home from Florida. We can always count on a warm, smiling welcome when we walk in the front door, and we know we will be provided with clean, comfortable accommodations. Rooms are large and very appealing. Breakfast is great, and any requests we make to the front desk staff are cheerfully and quickly granted. This place is a treasure.

Great service, great value, and very clean hotel. great restaurant next store that we walked to, also gas station next to restaurant. The location was excellent , right off the highway. Would stay there again next time we are in the area.

Pool, microwave, refrigerator/ freezer, breakfast including make your own waffles. Staff most helpful and courteous - even checked in to see how everything was and asking if anything else was needed. Easy access on and off Route 81.

    « Very good hotel »

Room has mini frig and small microwave, is clean. Reasonable price. We usually stay at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel, but the price had went up waaaay too much. So looking for an alternative, we found this hotel. It was nice and clean, and staff is nice. I gave it 4 stars because the beds are a little hard, but it is minor given the price and convenience. We were in town for a play at the Blackfriar's Playhouse.

We always stop here on our way home from Florida. It's the nicest of any of the places we stay going either way. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is great---everything fresh and tasty. They have just about everything you could want. They provide a ocal newspaper and a USA today. Stay here, you won't be disappointed!

« Clean, comfortable, with a few personal touches... »

My family of 4 stayed at this property last week on a road trip. We pulled off the highway and got the reservation last minute, and it was perfect for what we needed...Quiet, clean, and comfortable. The two ladies who checked us in were very sweet and friendly. We didn't have time to check out the pool, which is directly in the lobby by the front door (warning to other parents who don't have time to swim-the pool is RIGHT THERE and hard to hide from eager kids!) The lobby is small, but there is 24/7 coffee, tea, and hot cocoa which was exactly what we needed when we arrived after our long trip. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was terrific for a free hotel breakfast. We really appreciated that there were fresh raspberries and blueberries offered as part of the breakfast. Lots to choose from and actual mini boxes of cereal (instead of those huge dispensers that always get jammed). Both flavored and standard waffles were a nice touch....there was really something for everyone. We would absolutely recommend this hotel to others looking for a quick, clean, and convenient stop over off of the highway, and would stay there again if we were in the area.

Stopped for one night. Hotel is easy to get to and there are restaurants within walking distance. Close to I81 but very quite location. Room was clean and comfortable. Fridge, microwave and up to date furnishings. Great shower head! Indoor pool. Usual breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.

« Awesome value! Loved the breakfast! »

We stayed here Easter weekend and couldn't be more impressed. Clean, comfy rooms- with a mini fridge, coffee/coffee maker, and microwave. The bed was so comfortable! The pool was nice. The free breakfast is no joke. The breakfast room was off of the lobby and we were surprised by the variety. They have 2 waffle irons and batter dispensers with blueberries, raisins, coconut shavings, cinnamon and sugar to add to the batter if you want. A stocked mini fridge with Jimmy Dean breakfast biscuits, omelets, hard boiled eggs, and milk. Cereal is kept in a basket on the counters next to the pastries. The juice machine is great. They've got fresh fruit and cheese, oatmeal, toast, and french toast. It was amazing to say the least. We have stayed in the Jackson Hotel and Best Western Staunton Inn blows them out of the water. We will be back definitely.

    5
    « Very good experience »

We enjoyed the motel. I chose it because it was pet friendly, and we were traveling with my 2 dogs. Also because the price was very good, and the staff I talked to on the phone were friendly, kind, informative and very helpful. I've liked Best Western in the past but hadn't stayed in one for quite awhile. I will look for Best Western first in the future.

Excellent motel at a convenient location and reasonably priced. Clean and helpful staff-- would recommend it to friends. « Nice place in these hills »

We're beat from driving. First place on trip advisor we saw. What a gem! Staff kept us on task to our room. Steered us to the family restaurant next door, good comfort food. Warned us of coal train out back before we signed in. It went by 3 times, but we missed 2 of them sleeping. Beds and room were very nice. Will stay again!

    5
    « Comfortable overnight »

Clean, comfortable hotel easily reached from !-81. Indoor pool was out of order, but if I didn't ask while reserving, I would not have known until we arrived. Not the most important thing, but I specifically booked this hotel for the pool.

We were driving all day and decided to stay here and it was well worth the money. Very relaxing close dining and made us feel at home. There was a lazy boy chair that my husband used lol, but it was very comfortable and excellent breakfast in the morning! I would drop by again

Our experience at Best Western was great. The location is easily accessible from the interstate and this was our first experience of a walk -in of a visit to a Best Western .We are going to be making a visit to family in the New England area and are making travel plans to stay at a Best Western location .

    « Spring break getaway »

This hotel is convenient, clean, comfortable with friendly staff. We visited several local breweries and even a distillery (!) on route 151 Nelson county 20-30 minutes down 250 east. We enjoyed several lovely dinners in historic downtown Staunton. Mrs. Rowe's restaurant is next door and worth a visit for some down home cooking. We would certainly stay here again.

    « A must stay at hotel »

This is the Cleanest Best Western I have ever stayed at. Staff very friendly, Breakfast was good selection, Our room smelled so clean upon entering I couldn't believe it. Room was very clean and comfortable. Also was given a mini rubber duckie in the bathroom to take home as a token for staying. Towels etc. were displayed in a design. Will definitely go out of my way to stay here again if ever in the area.

    « Very Enjoyable Stay »

As a sole adult with three kids, I considered a fancier hotel for a get-away weekend with the kids, but the fancy place had a quota for kid/adult ratio and wouldn't have us. We booked the Best Western and had a nice time in this clean and efficient hotel. The breakfast choices included waffles and omelettes as well as the usual and we enjoyed ourselves. Nice memories with the kids in Staunton. Would stay there again.

    « Pleasure Night »

This place is rated very high on my list. Pleasant people, great breakfast and clean rooms. Front desk checkin people were very kind. They were interested in us as people and not just someone who needed a room for a night. Their breakfast was awesome. Food was great hot or cold which ever you wanted. They even signed us up for a discount on our next night at any Best Western. Thanks for great service.

Quick overnight while heading down highway. Very convenient to highway. Great customer service and great breakfast. I thought there were a lot of options and tasted good. Rubber ducky was a nice touch!

    5
« "Rubber ducky, your the one" »

We are in our 70's but it still brought a smile to our faces when we saw the rubber duck on the bathtub. Best Western began reinventing itself quite a few years ago to provide a nicer hotel experience and distance itself from the lower level hotels. It has certainly accomplished that and more. Everything was very nice. Two comfortable chairs in the room, no fighting over who got the nice chair. Bed, shower, heat regulation, everything was perfect. The free breakfast put them over the top. The woman providing assistance at breakfast was so helpful and pleasant. The food was great and we plan to stay at this hotel on all our trips to Florida.

    5
    « Excellent Value »

Very clean hotel, pretty lobby and display by elevator. Room was very comfortable. The room included two stuffed chairs, table, mini refrigerator and microwave. The king bed was very comfortable. Nice selection of hot and cold breakfast items.

    « Good Hotel »

« Quick trip to Staunton VA »

The service was excellent, very friendly staff. We had a late arrival with no issues. Easy check-in and out. The room was great, would have preferred a Queen size bed instead of two doubles. Nice choices for breakfast. The location was convenient right off the interstate. I would definitely say here again.

    5
« Great place to stay »

This is my second time staying at this Best Western in the past year and each time has been a great experience. The staff is very friendly, rooms clean, and the breakfast is amazing. They offered fresh raspberries and blackberries which was a special treat. I needed a handicap room and the room had 2 recliners which was a pleasant surprise.

    5
    « Second Time Here »

We stopped here 1 year ago on road trip south primarily because they accepted dogs. we really liked the place, the staff, the rooms, and rated it excellent then. So this year it was a slam dunk that we would stop over again , and the visit was just as good. As Best Westerns go, we thin this is one of the best.

    5
« A Reason to Stop in Staunton »

Outstanding helpful staff; convenient stop off interstate; great breakfast included in room price (much better than we had the day before at a conference run by another well-respected hotel!) and a very pleasant experience~~including a rubber ducky in our bathroom and complimentary bottled water!

« Convenient, good service and clean in a nice, friendly town. »

We stayed here both on the way down and on the way back from Florida. On the way down, we had the opportunity to visit the downtown area to do some shopping and eating. See my reveiws of Shenandoah Valley Brewery and Byers Street Bistro. When we made reservations for this hotel, we were warned that there were train tracks behind the hotel. I have to say that we never heard a thing! The hotel has an indoor pool, laundry facilities and adequate on-site parking. This hotel has continental breakfast each morning, and coffe/cocoa/tea available in the lobby. There is no attached restaurant, but right next door is a popular family restaurant, that we unfortunately didn't get a chance to visit. McDonalds is across the street, if that is more your style. The hotel staff were very friendly. There is a very sweet cat who greeted us in the parking lot; apparently he lives nearby but is the hotel's mascot and welcoming committee. This hotel is conveniently located off 81 and 64.

« Great place to overnight »

I stay at this establishment each year as I head south to Florida. No matter what time or weather condition I arrive in, the front desk is always there and helpful. The friendliness of the employees is wonderful and go beyond what is necessary. I always feel safe unloading my car and getting to my room, and as a female traveling alone, that is very important. Rooms are always clean and fully stocked with whatever you may need. Several restaurants very nearby. I definitely recommend this establishment!

    « Weekend Stay »

Upon arrival Micah was very nice and attentive at the front desk. The breakfast lady on Friday and Saturday was awesome as well you could tell she loved her job, I noticed some mold on the blackberries and she immediately took care of it. Front desk ladies were perfect, coffee and tea stand was stocked with lots of varieties. Great location. Only complaint is our bath tub didn't get cleaned like two times, which is important for four people staying in the room. Overrall nice stay!!!

« Great Option in this Area »

This property is an easy on-off I-81 and located next to Mrs Rowe's Family Restaurant. There's a Texas Steakhouse and a Cracker Barrel within short walking distances, and a McDonald's and gas a short drive away. It's also within walking distance from a Virginia Made Shop. On the other side of I-81 are numerous shopping and dining choices. The staff were all very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. My room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Wi-fi was spotty. Good breakfast service. Ample parking. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

    4
« This Best Western treats you like "home folk"! »

Nice accommodations, very pleasant and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast service. (Best to request a room away from railroad track) Easy on and off I-81. Restraunts nearby. Other motels in the area may have more updated rooms but the cleanliness and staff is why I choose this BW.

    4
« Staff support was exceptional »

We appreciate the kind service that the staff provided for our school trip. Carole, in particular, was so very helpful in booking the rooms and answering questions that we had. I would absolutely stay at this location again on another field trip or family trip when given the opportunity.

« Family get together in the area. »

Stayed for three nights in Aug 2015. Arrived after hours and was greeted by a friendly staff. Room was nice, comfortable, and clean. No issues with wifi and breakfast area was busy, but well stocked and clean. Enjoyed our breakfast and paper outside the pool area. Enjoyed our stay, speaking with the staff, and will stay there again when in the area.

    3
« Comfortable stay, great breakfast, lousy internet »

The place is clean and comfortable with an amazing breakfast selection. The room had enough seating for comfortable TV watching and a seperate desk with plenty of outlets. Would have been great if the internet worked. Spent 45 minutes with tech support twice before even getting the network up to be recognizable, with drops every 15 minutes or so and very slow when working. This was after spending time trying to get the help desk in the welcome book who wvwntually said they don't do that hotel. Am writing this on same equipment, so it wasn't my end that was bad. Lobby business center was just as bad as gmail and other4 sites do not support the browser they use.No alternate browser was available.

« Our favorite place to stay »

We love staying here as it is a pet-friendly hotel which allows us to bring our dog with us on vacation. He loves it too. The breakfast bar has a wide variety to choose from and Mrs. Rowe's restaurant next door is a great place to go for lunch and dinner. The hotel has easy access from the highway.

    « Scenic Vacation »

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western very clean and comfortable. We drove over 3300 miles on our trip and found the Best Western a very nice and practical place to stay. The staff was very informative and the breakfast was good. My wife and I have been married for 43 years and were glad that the stay was quiet after driving all day long. Would recommend to our friends.

« Convenient, clean and affordable »

We needed a place to stay with our dog traveling from NY back to TN. Best Western was located right on 81. The downtown is also nice with good places to eat. The hotel was very clean and had everything we needed for a quick stay. Will stay again whenever we make that trip.

    5
    « Friendly clean comfort »

This was a welcomed comfort after a long drive. Clean friendly atmosphere with fresh coffee available in lobby upon arrival. Room was clean and quiet, and oh the rubber ducky so cute! Pet friendly atmosphere totally appropriate and CLEAN, would never know pets were on premises. Made our trip much easier.

    « Nice Stay »

This was our 2nd visit to the hotel. The staff is very friendly. We brought along out small dog and was not charged extra as in other Best Westerns. The quality and choice of the food was much better. They served fresh blueberries, grapes and oranges and grapefruit cut up. The cereal was name brand and not an off brand. The only problem we had was the heating system was noisy so I turned it off. I reported it the next morning and the person at the front desk made a note of it. I can't say enough about the nice staff here!

    « hotel Review »

Old hotel. Room was quite large and equipped with fridge. Room had desk or table but no desk chair. I found bed comfortable but wife had trouble with the bulky pillow. LUKEWARM WATER! We asked for room near elevator but were placed at furthest end of hall. Breakfast was so-so, with no warm eggs or bacon or warm oatmeal. Would not return if occasion arose.

    « Welcoming Every Christmas »

We stay at the Staunton Inn every year on our Christmas trip between NYC and Nashville. We usually travel with one of our dogs, but not this year. It was nice to return to where we're always welcomed and made comfortable. Friendly staff and clean and quiet rooms. Breakfast could offer more variety, but everything was tasty and fresh. Pool was closed for maintenance. We prefer firmer mattresses.

    3
    « Staunton stay »

The staff is very friendly. Our room was clean and nice, but had some issues. The stopper was not working in the bathroom and a very small hole in the ceiling with a ever-so slight drip. Decor was a little dark and better lighting could exist. The lighting unit between the beds did not work properly. The furniture reflected much use and needs fixing. We have stayed here many times in the past and feel it needs attention after this stay. But it was clean. Easy access to I-81 and good restaurants within walking distance.

    5
    « great place »

the room was great, the bed was great, the shower was great, the breakfast was way above what you get at the average hotel, staff went out of their way to be helpful. do yourself a favor stay here, you won't be disappointed.

    « Stay here »

This was a last minute selection: we were happy with the service, breakfast and the e-mailing of our bill. We paid more to get more - better quality than LQ which is our usual choice. The in-room coffee was also great, a bonus as my husband is a coffee hound!

« Great Place for an overnight stay »

This hotel is a wonderful best kept secret. We found this hotel to be very very nice, especially because it is pet friendly, at no charge, plus clean and decorations that give it a special touch. The breakfast was the best I've ever had. My only complaint was the toilet paper roll was hard to reach. I would definately stay here again.

    5
    « Driving through »

We decided to stop at the Best western on our way home from New England. This was a good mid way point for us., Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. We had a double room , it was clean and more than comfortable.

    4
    « Friendly and clean »

We stayed here for 1 night before heading out on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful . The room was very clean though the recliner was a little threadbare. The bed was comfy and the pillows squishy, felt like laying in a cloud. Very nice and reasonably priced.

« Wondering where the trains were going? »

The Best Western in Staunton, VA has easy access from the highway. The Staff is very welcoming and looked up our previous booking. The receptionist made sure we wanted a room near the railroad tracks.ain the rear.....two trains went bye the night we were there. Not everyone would prefer the location but we did. Triple A rate was fantastic.

    4
« Nice hotel, for a great price. »

We stayed here overnight, on our way to northern Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving. We arrived at midnight, and our check-in took less than 5 minutes. The hotel is older, and the room could use a more modern upgrade, but it was very clean, and nothing was rickety, or falling apart. The staff was very friendly, and the little bathroom duck was an added cute bonus. The bed wasn't super comfortable, but everyone has their preference on bed firmness, so it wasn't a big deal. We weren't on the train side, so it was very quiet. It's definitely the perfect place to crash overnight.

    4
    « Always good! »

Such a warm and friendly staff, rooms are spotless! Beds are comfy with multiple pillows. Breakfast is very nice with side dining area. Only suggestion: They need some more open plugs or USB chargers. Could only charge on thing at a time and that was in the bathroom. Phones, camera, shaver all needed a charge...only one plug. BUT...We love this location and come back about once a year. NOTE: Very near a train track. VERYY! We stayed in a train view room once for our 6 year old and he LOVED it. And it did not bother us, but it might bother you.

    4
    « Clean Comfy Hotel »

Stayed 1 night. Nice staff, very friendly, very clean hotel. Beds were comfy. Located off I 81close to Blue Ridge parkway and skyline drive. Be aware of the train behind the hotel which went by 4 times the night I stayed. Ask for the other side of hotel

    4
« Wonderful Place near the Shenandoah Parkway / Blueridge Parkway »

An economical place to spend a night near both Parkways with access to both Interstate 81 and 64. There are many restaurants nearby and many interesting attractions to take in. We visited a Glass Blowing Demonstration and looked at available antiques.

    « SUPER PET FRIENDLY!!!! »

We were making a move from CT to SC and chose to stay at this hotel as we'd stayed here before in the past. We were very worried that because not only did we have our dog, but also our three cats, because we weren't sure if the cats would be allowed. However, we were pleasantly surprised the hotel allowed all of our pets to stay in the same room AT NO ADDITIONAL COST...NO PET FEE!!! Very clean and comfy room. Very helpful and polite staff. Will definitely stay again! Oh and I would love to know where Best Western gets their pillows from because those are the most comfortable pillows ever slept on!!

    4
« I like staying at Best Western Hotels »

I always look for Best Western Hotels. There were two more opportunities on our journey where we could have stayed at BW...one was Woodstock, NB , but the cost was nearly twice as much as we were willing to pay, and the second was Jacksonville, where there were no rooms available,

    5
    « Great place! »

Checked in after a long drive, front desk was super friendly! Room was clean, comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast was good. It was nice to be able to grab coffee at 6am and get going back on the road. Would definitely return if in the area.

    5
« Clean, people and dog friendly »

This is our "go to" when traveling to or through the Staunton area. The staff is always very nice, the rooms are nice, clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, and - for us - they are very dog-friendly (not "dog-tolerant"). It is well-situated near the interstate, and a short drive into "old town" Staunton. The only "complaint" is that the free breakfast is only adequate, which really isn't much of a complaint

    4
    « Clean and Comfortable »

Check in was easy, we arrived at 11pm , after driving 6 hours. Desk manager was pleasant and helpful, got up to room, found it to be roomy, clean and quite(even with the freight train rail a short distance behind building). Will definitely will book again when traveling on Route 81, easy access from exit.

    4
    « Nice place! »

Not sure that I would book again due to the fact I was there for business, no desk in the room with chair. I had to move a few chairs and a table around in order to be able to hook up my laptop and work. Although the staff did bring me a regular chair it wasn't very comfortable sitting in it for a couple hours while I did my work. The rooms were nice, but there was a big recliner and another big chair in there that I thought took up to much space. They need to take out the old looking recliners and put in a desk with a desk chair! The complementary breakfast was great and the staff was very nice and willing to try to help me out. But I'd rather be able just to go in and set up my computer and get to work instead of having to move furniture around and then hunt down a chair! Also they are pet friendly and they put me on the floor with the pets, don't get me wrong I love pets but there was a dog there that literally barked all night that was next door to me.

« Pet Friendly Easy on and off Highway 81 at exit 222 Virginia »

We have stayed at this 3 story hotel at least 6 times over the past 6 years. We began in 2008 travelling from RI to FL with our large Labrador. We now travel with a large cage with 2 cats. Although we request a first floor room, we were sent to the third floor rear, near the rail road tracks. The room was large and clean, so it's not worth complaining because we seldom get the requested 1st floor no matter where we stop with the pets. Over the past few years they have expanded their dining area for the included breakfast which was much needed. This hotel is not only right off the exit but very close to the wonderful downtown Staunton where we have dined at restaurants from cheap and quick Mexican to finer dining $$. Also, just off the highway are the usual Chili's Restaurant and the like. If you stay a day or two it is well worth visiting the Woodrow Wilson home and museum, esp. auto fans of antique cars will be in for a treat. Enjoy and Happy Trails

« Very nice room and a good breakfast »

This is our first time staying in the Best Western in Staunton, and as they say, the best surprise is no surprise. The clerks at the front desk were efficient and friendly, they had our reservation ready, and the room was clean, bright, and comfortable, especially the TWO recliners!! Nice to watch last night's presidential debate in comfort! Breakfast in the morning was plentiful, and it included omelets ready to microwave. The coffee was flavorful and hot, including the decaf. The woman staffing the breakfast area was also pleasant and efficient. Just exactly what we look for. We'll be back.

We stayed her for a night passing through on I-81. We requested the fourth floor due to pet allergies. Clean room and hotel. Friendly staff. We were on the street side and there was noisy traffic all night. Other than that, it was great!

The Best Western Staunton Inn provided that affordable get away to enjoy the changing of the leaves in the mountain area. Staunton Inn was super clean with an extraordinary choice of breakfast items that suited everyone's taste. The heated indoor pool provided a great place to relax and socialize with friends. The quality of the Inn and price will keep me coming back again and again.

    « Best Western »

Stayed at this Best Western in Staunton on our way to Luray Caverns. We requested the 4th floor because of pet allergies. Stayed on the opposite side of the train tracks - train could run anytime. We did hear one train passing and thankful we were on the opposite side. Room was clean and quiet. Rubber duckie arrangement on check-in desk was cute and then one in our room was an added surprise. Breakfast was good but the layout made it difficult to retrieve items from the cold - heat-up items and thus missed out on enjoying them. A large variety of fruit was available - oranges, apples, grapefruit, strawberries, bananas. Would have like a donut or danish for breakfast but waffles sufficed. Good restaurant next door for Southern family meal, Wal Mart and local shops in area.

« Nice ofr the price »

Stayed here a couple times on our way south for the winter. Nice hotel, easy to get to off 81, price was good, breakfast was the typical, nothing special. Non-smoking hotel which is great. Texas roadhouse and Cracker barrel next door.

    « Helpful, friendly staff »

This Hotel was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the little yellow ducky in the bathroom. The thing that made this one of our best hotel experience was the staff, particularly Angelique and Susan who were at the desk when we checked in on a VERY BUSY Saturday evening.

« Nice stay, nice hotel »

The room was very clean and neat. The breakfast had a good variety and was great. They have the best remote control for television. Many times, it's hard for me to find my favorite shows when I travel. But not here. There is a train in the back, but that didn't bother me at all. It in a great location. It sits beside 2 gas stations and a couple of restaurants. And you drive down the road (less than a mile) and there's a Wal-Mart and plenty of restaurants.

    « I-81 Value Motel »

Ideal location, great value , improves with each stay. Constantly updating facility. Staff can't do enough to please. Has one of the best run continental breakfasts, not necessarily the largest selection of items, but each item is of excellent quality, served and administered by alert staff.

    « just small problems »

The hotel as a whole was very good but the cleanliness of the bathroom was on the down side. We were there for three nights and the empty shampoo and shower gel bottles were never removed. When I took a cloth over the bottom of the tub, it was dirty and the counters weren't wiped down on a daily basis.

« Many time stay last disappointment »

Reservations were wrong but corrected. Check in desk clerk was short and rude. Asked desk clerk for paper plates day shift no problem provided them, second night, night desk was rude and refused paper plates and needed a bandaid told we do not give them out. At check out manager was rude and unperfessional.

« Dirtiest Bathroom I have ever paid for »

Our bathroom tub and shower curtain had brown soap scum stains around the entire tub and other guests hair was visible. Upon asking to switch to another room we found only a slight difference in the cleanliness of the tub and decided it was not even worth the effort of bringing all our things up. This is not a clean hotel. It's old and dirty.

I have stayed in several motels during this last vacation. Best Western is clean. I would not hesitate to stay in any Best Western in the future. As a matter in fact, I will be traveling to Southern Pines next year and will take my fellow golfers to your facility.

    « Great Night Stay »

Very pleased with the stay at this hotel. Do ask to stay in the room in the front of the hotel as a train goes through on the back side around 6:30AM. The only bad thing was that the pillows were horrible., Breakfast was ok.

« Older well maintained Place - Great room and service (warning beware the duck) »

If you spend half the night searching for problems I bet you could find some. We didn't find any. This is an old building and it looks to have been remodeled a few years ago. The room was clean, it smelled good and had space to move. I read several review about trains. I guess we were on the better side because we didn't hear a thing between 5PM and 10 AM. There was a beeping sound for a few minutes , I think it was a car alarm or a truck backing up. Cant blame the hotel for it. The beds are comfortable The TV works well. Nice restaurant next door Plenty of Delivery choices Plenty of towels Fridge and microwave Glass elevator Good breakfast ( I am not a fan of microwave eggs but waffles, cereal and toast were perfect.) You get a FREE rubber duck. (This duck immediately caused the rubber ducky song to enter my head and stay for several days) don't let this happen to you :) Over all, great place, Id stay again its close enough to Roanoke without the high prices and traffic.

would definatel y stay again. The quality of this hotel for the money was well worth it. Other hotels at this price had inferior towels room amenities beds etc. I always found best western had higher standards than other chains at the same price.

Hadn't considered a Best Western for years. Was very surprised with the quality of the stay. These hotels in the past seemed average at best but they have gained a lot of ground. Thanks so much for the excellent service.

This is an excellent motel convenient to I-81. The staff was friendly, the room was quiet and clean. A good restaurant, Mrs. Rowe's is within walking distance. I recommend this as a good value for the amenities offered.
