Great stay with ample amenities for kids and adults. I attended a conference on site. The food was good, the bartender was lovely, and the rooms were comfortable. All staff was attentive and friendly. The location was easy for ubers to come and go from as long as you order them ahead. We had to get a 4 am ride to the airport and it still worked out.
Check in was quick and the front desk and were efficient and friendly. The room was clean and large as was the bathroom. The room coffee pot was located in a strange place next to the bed and there were large coffee stains on the rug. The coffee pot should be on a tray with a lip to prevent solids. After a long day with the grandchildren, we had an early dinner at the Tavern restaurant. The restaurant staff were all friendly and efficient, periodically checking in to see if we needed anything. Food was very good. The only suggestion I have would be to do away with the need for an arm bracelet to use the pool. While I realize that the pool and fitness center is also used by the nearby senior citizen complex, your room key should more the suffice to show you are a guest. In fact, no one in the area checked anyway. Also, the indoor pool is divided equally between “laps” and free swim. The free swim area was crowded while the lap area was hardly in use. Possibly the lap area could be reduced or only have designated times..
What a great find! It's hard to travel with a big dog - especially in the northeast where hotels are just not very big dog friendly. And the ones that are, can be a little scary at times! This place was amazing. Area is quiet, nice, and a bit high end. A few good non- chain restaurants within walking distance. Hotel had a nice bar / restaurant. We were able to grab a beer and sit outside with our dog in the beautiful courtyard. Landscape was phenomenal. Big welcoming lobby. Rooms were big and spacious. They were showing their age abit and bathrooms were quite small compared to today's hotel standard. I will get coming back with or without my dog!
I stayed here in December during Christmas...it was so comforting to be remember as a return guest. Both Tristan and Kaitlyn made the check in process pleasant and easy. It's my husband's birthday and I wanted to celebrate at a place where I didn't need to get into the car for two nights - that's why we chose Heritage. Executive King suite was worth every penny. Awesome view overlooking the brook and golf course. Two bathrooms one with a jacuzzi tub, livingroom area with couch and seating area for three. If you are a sports fan, crazing TV options (Including the YES Network). We did eat at the tavern on our first night - wings and salad - great choice. Morning coffee at the gym started the day off right - gym was great. Hubby worked out while I hung out at the pool, jacuzzi and did take time for both the steam room and sauna. So much we didn't do...table tennis, pool, just sitting in the alcoves to unwind and the spa. Breakfast buffet ($16.99) is offered, but I walked across the street to get a breakfast sandwich. We're making plans to come back again at the end of the year. Thanks for providing the relaxing 48 hours to celebrate my husband's birthday.
It's older with smaller rooms and awkward limited outlets. Our bed was fair. The room was clean and the TV worked. The noise from the hallway was annoying. The outdoor pool was beautiful. The indoor pool was so cloudy you couldn't see to swim.
We needed a place to stay to take our granddaughter to the Bethlehem Fair . It was a perfect spot & their staff was very accommodating since we had our dog they allowed us a later check out. Kaitlyn at the desk also recommend the best place for dinner "Roseland Apizza" which was a great find. The hotel gardens were very pretty. The room was alright partly because we had the dog I am sure. Overall, it was fine for us.
Accidently, I left behind the pill boxes in my room after checked out. Elizabeth at the front desk texting me via SMS promptly. The house-keeping team already took care of everything via Lost-&-Found. The hotel are sending my pill boxes via USPS mail accordingly. That's a detailed and wonderful services. The team is going above and beyond. Thank you all for such a wonderful experience and memories.
The grounds are beautifully landscaped with plants and flowers and several places to relax. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We truly loved our dinner at the Tavern, breakfast in the Garden room and indoor and outdoor pools (although the water temperature was a bit chilly). Next time we will play golf. The course looked very nice. Our room was clean and spacious and offered a view of the Pomperaug River and golf course. We will return. Excellent value.
We celebrated my husband's 60th birthday here. We relaxed by the pool and had dinner at the Tavern. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The staff was supper helpful and friendly. The hotel is a real gem. We look forward to staying again soon.
Our high school (Southbury) held its 57th reunion (while celebrating our 75th birthdays) at the Heritage Hotel with events on Fri. night, Sat. night and Sun. morning. Each event was supported by Heritage Hotel staff. The conference planners made planning and implementing the event super easy! The big event on Saturday night had staff that went out of their way to ensure everyone was happy. The breakfast buffet, attended by many of our group, provided just the right atmosphere (and delicious breakfast) for our group. We could not have found a better hotel and conference center to hold our event!!!!
Not my idea of a "resort" the staff were nice but missed the mark in housekeeping by coming in when dnd was apparent and requested as well as finding a magot in the coffee pot and a previous guests dirty laundry. The amenities were nice but it also serves as an athletic club so I was surprised to see so many local families. Not the vibe I had expected.
For the money was not worth it. Staff at check in was unhelpful and unfriendly. (one or two people were nice, we were there 3 days two nights). In the bathroom, no hooks rings for wet towels, robe. No room darkening curtain for the one small window. The door to the room didn't even seal. You can see light all around One morning the fire alarm went off, we went outside with other guests, so sign of firefighters, the alarm stopped and we all went back in our rooms. No contact from staff or info about the alarm. Was there a fire? The outdoor pool bar and bartender was great. Not a great restaurant on site. for the $750 we paid, was not worth it
We stayed here during a visit to Family. From check in to check out the staff was rude. The rooms are extremely small for the price and you can hear straight through the walls. Breakfast isn't included it's an additional fee to the restaurant for mediocre breakfast got to Dotties Diner since you have to pay. Amenities are for Club Members and before you can even finish getting off the elevator the staff there make sure to yell it to you. I wouldn't stay again especially not at over $900 for 5 nights.
From early checkin to the coffee that the ladies made sure we had when we left early, this stay was spectacular. So many lovely amenities. Just be aware that there are gym users not staying in the hotel and they use the gym and pool outside of the hours for the guests.
This hotel has a lot of amentities but it's tired. The room really needed updating and it wasn't the most comfortable stay. It's also spread out so it doesn't have the easiest access if you can't walk well. I guess if you're looking for a resort feel, pools, a nice gym, etc, it would be good, but it sort of has a back-in-time feeling. Plus, the breakfast was expensive. Overall it was fine, but I would probably drive out of the area if I need a hotel again in Southbury.
The pool closes at 8 pm on Saturday night. No coffee. No breakfast. Outdated rooms. Poor ventilation. Poor lighting. Rooms do not block out noise.
Beautiful grounds, picturesque area, fairly easy access from major roadway, clean, neat, well-kept. Room was very clean and neat, and the mattress was supreme. Excellent night's rest. Buildings and physical plant is worn, weary and in need of updating, painting and upkeep.
My fiance and I are getting married here in November and we have been visiting frequently. Each visit we get to know a new staff member. At the front desk, Cheryl is so inviting and knowledgable. She addresses us by name as we walk in the front door. Jennifer is in charge of our wedding arrangements and has been courteous and accommodating since day one. We frequent the Tavern and have grown to love all the staff. The Tavern manager, KeSean is exactly what a manager should be. Aside from greeting us cordially when we visit, we have seen him jump into any role when necessary. When the bartenders get backed up, he has no problem assisting with making drinks, running food, or doing anything to ensure everything runs smoothly. Our favorite bartenders are Anthony and Loren. Anthony is so personable and attentive. Loren is the sweetest, most considerate and kind individual. She truly cares that her guests are having an amazing time. With each visit to the Heritage, we are blown away by the hospitality we receive. The staff at the place where we are forever going to call where we get married never disappoints, and exceeds expectations. Thank you!
Absolutely love this place - it's got New England decor and a warm, friendly vibe. Johnathon and Katilyn at the front desk are second to none, they were so welcoming and helpful. The indoor pool, outdoor pool and jacuzzi are lovely as well as the sauna and steam room. The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet is plentiful. And it is really beautiful - it's like a homey inn at a large hotel surrounded by gorgeous trees and well kept grounds. Staff will know your name and do everything to make you happy! We have stayed here before and will stay here again, you can't ask for more. Thank you again to Kaitlyn and Johnathon.
Our family stay at the heritage for a wedding of my niece. Most of us were able to be near each other. There were other parties there so so sometimes we had to leave areas to accommodate that. Our first night there the noise level wasn't too bad but the other nights there was quite a bit. All of the doors seem to slam shut so you hear that most of the night and people walking on the floor above you. The staff was always accommodating and kind. Es
Great hotel, good food at the Tavern and every staff member encountered, from front desk to everyone for the conference I was planning was superb.
Parking is kind of tight when there are multiple events, limited handicapped parking. there is a need for increased or better lighting in the parking lots
The Grand Heritage's desk personnel were often absent and were sometimes unsatisfactory. The hotel's house keeping personnel were also often unsatisfactory, failing to make the beds and clean the rooms adequately clean. Other than that, the Grand Heritage was satisfactory.
My daughter was recently married here. From our first meeting to the final moments, this was a wonderful experience!! Everyone was met by a friendly and accommodating front desk. Our family enjoyed very clean and comfortable rooms. The pool was enjoyed by the young children in our group and some of the adults used the gym. Jennifer and Christine were very helpful in not only planning the reception, but also a family dinner in the Tavern and breakfast in the main room. Danielle and her team were outstanding during the reception. As mother of the bride, I didn't need to worry about a thing! This venue can meet a variety of age groups and helps to provide a weekend of memories!
Main reason for going there versus somewhere else was the jacuzzi. We called a told it was working and it wasn't . Maintenance said it would be fixed in 2 hours and it wasn't fixed before our checkout at 11:00 very disappointing as we could've stayed somewhere less expensive
Quiet and relaxing hotel. Beautiful scenery. My room was very clean and the staff was very polite. Their Spa is amazing. I got a facial and scalp massage with Monica…. God bless her and her hands. I have never felt so relaxed and pampered. I came here to relax and I was able to do just that and a bit more.
I book this room to unplug. Although the pool and fitness center was nice, I could have just put my phone on do not disturb and gone to the gym. I would have gotten more rest. The paper thin walls let all the noise in and management did nothing when I complained
Unwelcoming front desk. Awkward access to room. Loud ventilation system. Odor in room and hallway. Noise transfer between rooms. Small bathroom. Poor mattress. The whole experience was something out of a bizzare Rod Serling, "Twighlight Zone ".
Needed to sneak away for Christmas…a special rate and I booked for two nights. King room with fridge and microwave (on request). Best part is the gym, pool, sauna and steam room. Needed to relax and those amenities made it a perfect stay. TV channels - plenty to watch. Restaurant was open, but didn't get the chance to order. Will come back for a spa service. Staff was pleasant and added to a great stay.
Harry C. & Jash are remarkably kind & attentive breakfast servers. The desk is A+. There is the Largest gym facility we have experienced in a hotel. A+ indoor pool, steam & heat sauna, & lg gym locker rms/showers. PLEASE: no more single use straws/cold & hot cups
My wife had a work event to go to the party was absolutely beautiful great food music desserts and drinks. Staff was on top of cleaning and helping. We than spent some time drinking at the tavern and had an amazing experience drinking and playing pool. Overall the room was comfortable clean and had plenty of space. Stay was friendly and efficient.
Bar staff was amazing! There was trivia tonight which was awesome and a great vibe all around. I've been in a lot of hotel lobby bars and hotel bars, they got this right. Nice place! I highly recommend the spa, great place to relax — and in the summer the pool area is awesome (with a bar outside!)
It's big. It's friendly. It's a village. Restaurant choices up and down the tree lined drive. My room was large & clean. The reception area has a good selection of snacks and drinks. Check in and Check out was easy.
Wedding mill cum conference center with all that entails. Conference box lunch spent way too long in the fridge. The sodas on the other hand were warm. Avoid the Tavern at all costs. Plenty of better options in town. Hostess greeted us with a large ketchup stain on her shirt.
Very old inside could use some updates. Lighting is awful in the room. Water pressure is horrible. Was there for wedding were told bar would stay open it didn't. Prices for bottled water were too high.
We stayed for one night, had dinner, played golf and was grateful to Kaitlin for resolving an issue for us. She was very professional and listened to our concerns. We had a lovely break and will definitely return. Thank you Kaitlin!
Such a beautiful and quaint hotel tucked away in a quiet village like area. We got married at the Heritage Hotel and not only was our wedding so beautiful and amazing but the staff was attentive, kind, and made our day! The vineyard, stone garden, The Tavern, breakfast next morning, and the hospitality room were excellent amenities to add to our wedding. The bridal suite was large in size, bed was comfortable, and had a large tub in the bathroom.
Nice clean rooms, lovely location, great price. We needed a place to stop while on a road trip. This fit the bill perfectly! Quiet location and wonderful gym, indoor and outdoor pools and sauna. We left refreshed and relaxed.
Weird place...extremely dingy and drab. No coffee in the lobby, but it's in the gym. Random microwave in the lobby. You call this a resort?! Felt like an old college dorm. It's so old, outdated and used. Signs of wear and tear everywhere. Scuffed up base boards everywhere. Curtains stained. Carpet stained. Only 2 pillows per bed and they are very small. Caved in ceiling in closet. Killed 3 spiders in the washroom. The rooms are dark and then one of the three lamps completely broke. One of the lights in the bathroom kept flickering on and off. Toilet had a dirty ring around the water. Small room with no place to put your things except for a small desk. The place could use more color...some flower pots in the entrance and around the pool would cheer it up. The hallways are bare...no decor whatsoever. Staff wasn't informative...for example: we didn't know that the pools were used for swimming lessons and other activities. We didn't know that the pool bar was available Thursday to Sunday. A late check out is $40 per extra hour. This place is overpriced for what you are getting: a dirty, old room and entitled guests giving you attitude for bringing your children to have fun in the pool. This hotel could be so much better. It has potential, but is a money grab. It screams the need for a renovation!
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel however the fact that it's a private paying club in addition to a public hotel creates an issue. Specifically the security staff (who are armed) had zero patience for kids just being kids and quickly closed the pool without explanation. In addition there was no tolerance for them in the hallways either meaning they had nothing to do.
Everything went so smoothly for our family visit! Rooms were good, grounds are lovely, outdoor pool is so nice. The area has some nice restaurants and stores, including a large shopping center 1.5 miles away. this hotel is in a quiet spot. Special thanks to Kaitlyn Snyder who helped us sort out reservations.
Can't say enough about Heritage, great staff very accommodating. Tremendous changes since our last visit. Our room was perfect and the maid service was right on. We'll be back for another stay real soon and can't wait.
This hidden gem makes you forget where you are. Great rooms, amazing pools, the food is unbelievable and the staff is top notch! Our kids had a blast, we played trivia in the tavern while we had dinner and it was a blast! We will definitely be back again soon!
Just got back from my first visit. I came last weekend with friends for a Murder Mystery Weekend. What a wonderful experience. The rooms were large and welcoming. What really stood out was the outstanding staff. The staff always had a big smiles, and could not of been more helpful. As part of the Murder Weekend we ate every meal at the hotel. The food exceeded all expectations, everyone was so impressed. I think his name was Chris who was in charge, he made sure every thing was perfect. Every meal tasted great and looked beautiful. Furthermore, the grounds are just beautiful. I understand why they host so many weddings. Also, there were a lot of kids a at this resort so it was a bit crowed at the pool and could be noisy, but its summer in Connecticut. I just have a few suggestions, more pool loungers and the pool towels were woefully small and thin. Nonetheless, my friends and I had a wonder time.
All the new upgrades at the Heritage were great. From the new furniture in the lobby, a snack area, update on the indoor pool and the Tiki bar in the pool area. The staff was amazing. Can't wait to come back!
Excellent service, friendly staff, comfortable accommodation. Beautiful area, nice spa. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We visited the waterfalls nearby and found many great restaurants within a few miles. We participated in a murder mystery weekend and it was well managed and quite entertaining. Excellent all around.
Absolutely outstanding hotel. Old school charm with amazing amenities. Even with all the bells and whistles the best part was the staff. Thank you to Chris for his hard work and kindness. Also thank you to Keith and Margo's murder mystery weekend. Unforgettable weekend. Thank you. Everyone check out murdermystery.com for a great experience. You will not be disappointed.
My husband surprised me with a Murder Mystery weekend. The hotel, staff, food, and Murder Mystery crew nailed it! This was the first time the hotel hosted a murder weekend and they went above and beyond. The food was delicious and plentiful. Brandi, the bartender both at the pool and the tavern was wonderful. Honestly, every staff member was top notch. We will definitely be back to enjoy another fun weekend of murder, food, and fun!
Great location, quiet rooms, comfortable beds, stellar fitness center, plenty of rooms for weddings, parties, or business events. Employees were friendly and efficient. Indoor and outdoor pool. Plenty of restaurants and stores within walking distance. Great ambience.
I had a one hour facial by Chloe. She did a wonderful job! It was relaxing and rejuvenating. After she was able to provide recommendations to help me with my daily facial regime. The spa was well situated in a tranquil environment.
I don't often write reviews but after multiple bad experiences at this property, I hope this will inform other travellers. The facility and housekeeping staff are lovely. The management and front desk staff leave a lot to be desired. We've had more than one negative encounter and it just seems like they need to be reminded that the industry is called "hospitality" and providing quality customer service is job #1. We are unlikely to ever stay here again.
I attended a wedding and it was beautiful the food was delicious and the atmosphere was like an old charm. The staff was very friendly from the check into the room service. The only issue I had had that I had reserved at one price but then I was charged another but will be contacting the hotel to get this fixed.
We held my son's wedding there and the wedding coordinator was awesome and she did a wonderful job with everything. Outside flowers could have been better for the wedding. After party food was just ok and wasn't very plentiful
Great Place. Our second time coming here for our Girls' Trip!! We will be back!! Please get the spa back up and running!! When we were here in 2021 we had an amazing spa day We hope that you find people to work again!!
This review is for the tavern - the bar/restaurant inside the hotel. My husband and I frequent the tavern for trivia night which is super fun! I can't say enough about the bartender Lauren - she's incredible. She is super attentive and makes the best cosmo i have ever had. Not to mention she's very friendly and remembers her guests and what they like. I will continue to frequent the Tavern bc of Lauren.
The Tavern at the Heritage is definitely a go to when visiting the hotel. The bartender Emily was absolutely fantastic and left a great impression. She always remembers my order and makes wonderful drinks! Highly recommend !
We have stayed here many times over the years and have even held our daughter's wedding reception here. We are former Southbury residents who now live in Florida and have always appreciated the value and service offered by the hotel. For those who are visiting the Southbury area, there is no better place to stay. A small piece of advice - allways ask for a room in the north wing overlooking the golf course. Specifically on the 3rd floor. These are the best rooms.
I decided to spend this new year here, somewhere familiar and not too far away, for me. Now since I have stayed there multiple times before, it made sense to return and it also had been a while. But I must say, I was pleasantly surprised to meet some new and see some old faces It really is a complete package when you visit, and when ALL the staff you encounter goes above and beyond and are just NICE people, it makes it even more worth it. Big SHOUTs to these 3 because they really made my stay a wonderful one and were super friendly to me, and I needed to let the whole world (Trip Advisor) LOL, know. Awesome people, who genuinely cared for the place and the experiences about to be had for their guest. I was solo this time and one of the best times I had. :) Caitlyn, the front desk Lauren, restaurant/bartender Keshawn, restaurant/bar manager Can't wait to go back!
This is a great place to stay for business or pleasure in the Southbury CT area. My family and I have stayed there many times over the years and we really appreciate the pools, sauna, gym and other on-site amenities as well as the location. The Tavern has a great bar with a really good craft beer menu. Their food menu is only OK and could use updating but there are many nice restaurants in the area to choose from.
Nice getaway not far from NYC. Lots of space for events, and beautiful grounds (didn't get to see much of them, because I visited in the rainy Connecticut winter. I'd imagine this place is magnificent in the summer and fall) The room was ok, about on par with your average budget hotel (think courtyard Marriott, for example). A bit on the smaller side, but was still able to fit 3 people. It had a decent coffee maker and a small fridge, which is a plus. Very comfy beds, best sleep I've had in a while. The bathroom (specifically the shower) left a bit to be desired, though. The bathroom door didn't lock, and the shower was made out of a flimsy plastic material that was literally cracking and peeling off the wall. Gets the job done, though. Pros: -Plenty of space and amenities (fully stocked gym, indoor and outdoor pools, lots of cozy places to sit and relax both indoors and outdoors, etc.) -Clean and comfortable room. -Decent price (at least in the winter). Cons: -VERY confusing layout. I stayed here only one night and got lost multiple times. -Seems like the construction is pretty cheap: The shower had some issues, the lights flickered in one of the meeting rooms (quite distracting and annoying), and the elevator seemed small and outdated. All in all, this is a great place to go for a scenic getaway if you don't want to travel too far out of NYC. Great for events, too.
It seems as if the Heritage's has been downgraded since joining the Holiday Inn brand. This is sad the Hotel was a "go to" whenever we were doing or training for local endurance races. While the staff is amazing and friendly, it seems as if the hotel is tired and in need of a refresh. Specifically: 1. The pillows on the beds are lumpy and uncomfortable. While feather pillows may not be allowed, cheap foam ones are not acceptable. The housekeeping staff is amazing and hardworking. 2. The only restaurant in the hotel has a very limited menu. Not actually dinner which is surprising as it opens at 5pm. The selections are more like lunch (this is no fault of the staff which is excellent) 3. The TVs are not smart ones. You cannot connect to your own Netflix or streaming service. So if you want to watch a movie, you need to pay $19.95! 4. Some rooms had closets, some did not. Some had two sinks, some did not. All needed a refresh though. I am not sure if I can recommend the Heritage or even want to go back in the future.
This review is for the Riverwalk Health Club at the Heritage Hotel. The workers here are so kind and hard-working. Aminda one of the staff members at the check-in desk at the health club, is so friendly and accommodating. Give her a raise! She greets me with a warm smile and a friendly welcome whenever I see her. The facility is clean; the modern equipment is state of the art. The sauna is clean and reliable. Highly recommend this health club, its a great value.
Beyond disappointed with my stay. First of all the rooms that they have on their website look absolutely nothing like the room we stayed in the front a staff is not very friendly. I called down to the front desk and asked if we could have more towels, shampoo and conditioner and he specifically told me to come down to the front desk and pick it out myself. I also called a few days prior to our arrival to have chocolate covered strawberries and milk and cookies sent to the room. I asked specifically for chocolate chip cookies, the gentleman that took my request said that was no problem. So that didn't happen. They asked me what time I would like it there. I asked for 4pm. We checked in at 4:15pm. It was not there yet when I specifically asked for it to be there before we arrive. Our room like I said looked nothing like it showed online and it was dirty. We even had hair in our shower. The tub was gross and had stuff in it that I don't know what it was. It was so gross. I am so upset this was my wife and myself first night away in 3 years after having kids. I honestly don't plan to ever stay there again. I am so upset by out experience that we won't be coming back and we won't be recommending this hotel to anyone.
Everything was what we were led to believe, all of the staff were accommodating and helpful. The amenities were great. The fact that there was an indoor pool so the children of some of our guests could enjoy it and burn off some of their energy was fantastic.
My friends and i sat at the bar a few weeks ago, and Lauren was the most wonderful and exceptionally fun bartenders we've encountered in a LONG time! we will definately be back the next time we are in the tri-state area!
Could not have been happier. I recently took a group of college guys for a mid-week overnight. The staff was super helpful, the rooms were very clean. Our group had very specific needs and the staff was able to accommodate. Big shout out to Candice Meyer, the hotel's sales manager, she's one of a kind
Located in a picturesque, wooded location in Southbury, Connecticut, this hotel is like a resort lodge. Our stay was short but enjoyable. The staff is wonderful, friendly and helpful. With two pools, massive gym and three golf courses there plenty to do. We'll definitely be back.
This hotel is nothing like the Best Western hotel experience I expected. I've actually stayed at this property twice before, several years ago, but I was not prepared for the hotel that I found this time for my Thanksgiving visit with my family. The room was old, dated, and so dark inside that we couldn't see. Three lamps, each with a single low-wattage bulb. The front desk supplied a fourth single bulb lamp, which made the room minimally passable for our stay. Housekeeping services were minimal, and, frankly, cheap. The bathmat was removed after our first night, and not replaced. The extra bath towels we requested on the first day were also removed after the first night, and not replaced. The tissue box was left with about four tissues remaining, with no replacement. The breakfast buffet was, to put it simply, a bad joke. They charge $17.95 for a “buffet“ that included a pile of something resembling scrambled eggs in a serving tray, some greasy bacon, and almost nothing else – no fruit, no pastries, no yogurt, no nothing. Even the cheapest of hotel chains provide a free breakfast buffet that is far better than anything this hotel had the nerve to charge for. We left and went to breakfast in a diner a mile away, and had an outstanding breakfast for 1/3 of the price Overall, this place looks good on the surface, sounds good in its name and promotional materials, but when it comes right down to it, this hotel is a dump.
Stayed many times and loved it . This time hotel had issue with electronics , locked us out of our rooms , poor staff response. Charge wrong credit card, poor staff response, no fix options. No apology or fix. Rude staff . Over charged one credit card. Lamps in two rooms didn't work , broken and no replacement offered. Front desk staff didn't know what time or where the breakfast was. No coffee in lobby any longer had to wait till 830 when breakfast opened and was crazy and no coffee ready. Smell in hallway was not good. Good , nice options for pool, sauna, hot tub etc . beds comfortable , nice areas in hotel .. Good area and had previous good experiences . Room was big enough. .
We selected the Heritage Hotel as a “halfway point” between Boston and Philadelphia for Thanksgiving weekend. We loved the property, and the Thanksgiving buffet was delicious. My kids loved the indoor pool. We will definitely be coming back!
This hotel has such a great spirit and energy. We were visiting family in Newtown and stayed. Half the family got to golf because we had mild enough weather and they were able to rent golf clubs. The Tavern is a fun and lively place. They have a large gym, good breakfast, lots of parking. We all enjoyed our stay. There was a date mistake in our booking and Tristan at the front desk took care of everything for us and he and the whole staff were fantastic. We will stay again when we are visiting in Connecticut. Also, bring a bathing suit because they have an indoor pool and jacuzzi during ready and a rec room during the winter months.
Fantastic accommodations in this unique facility. Our check out experience with Kaitlyn was smooth as silk - she has a great personality and kicked off our day with a big smile - no better way to start! She also took care of a very minor billing snafu with ease - Kaitlyn made our day!
Hotel room smelled. Thermostat was locked at 68 degrees and couldn't cool off the room with the air conditioning. Lights blasted through the door from the hallway even with a towel against the bottom of the door. Staff called me at 10:15 while I was on my way back from a wedding stating that she got six complaints about my dog barking which I find highly unlikely. This is supposed to be a pet friendly hotel and while it is likely that my dog probably barked from the doors slamming as people closed them or the noise in the hallway. After midnight it was loud and boisterous outside in certain areas people were sitting at.
This place is awful! Our room and the hallway smelled like chemicals and was very very dated. We let the front desk know and they said they would have someone come by, but they never showed up. You were able to see water damage that was painted over in the walls. Our comforter also had stains on it which i did not notice until this morning… Our TV did not work either. It was so bad here, that we ended up leaving early. (We we're supposed to stay 2 nights)
I always stay here when visiting my daughter at school. It's a large hotel and the rooms are clean & quiet. Heritage has a serviceable restaurant, a spacious fitness room that is unlike the typical hotel and is conveniently located to many area restaurants and shops.
One of the most enjoyable hotel experiences I have ever had. From the room including the view, the service, the golf and fitness amenities, everything exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend this property to anyone especially in the fall.
The place smelled bad all over, the carpets everywhere were dirty and stained, the toilet didn't flush properly, the toiletries were meager, they forgot to perform maid service on my room one day. EXPENSIVE.
Such a great stay. The staff were so friendly and I was so impressed on the look of the hotel. We loved staying here and would absolutely return. We visited during the fall and the fall weather made this place even more special.
My family and I were in town for my niece's funeral. The staff was amazing, the rooms were comfortable. Tristan at the front desk went over and above to make sure that we had everything we needed. He was very kind and super accommodating.
We were there for my son's wedding and the staff went went above and beyond not for the wedding party but also for the guests. This venue is awesome and this includes the staff, rooms, pool, fitness center and the food!!!!
This place is great! Staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are impeccably clean and comfortable and they are beyond pet friendly. Indoor jacuzzi is a plus too. Easy on and off of the freeway by a few miles, but DEFINITELY worth it.
The hotel is beautiful outside and inside, it was clean and the beds were comfortable. Lots of amenities to enjoy including a restaurant and tavern, indoor pool and beautiful grounds, the staff was very welcoming and helpful.
Warning: ask for a receipt upon check-out or they will charge things to your card without your consent or knowledge. I was charged a $250 pet fee and a $8 resort fee, and they double charged my room $171 even though I prepaid in advance. Management is extremely unresponsive to my calls and I attempted to call multiple times and was told that management is not available and that I will be receiving a call back which I never did. I would stay as far away from this hotel as possible. IF you're going there for a wedding like I was, stay somewhere else. IF you're having your wedding there, don't.
I stayed at this hotel for two nights in September. The hot tub was nicely hot and pool comfortable. The beds were outstanding!! After a wonderful nearby event we returned to the hotel for a few nightcaps in the tavern bar. The young bartender ( first name "Loren") was very friendly and we had good conversations while she prepared excellent drinks. The whole evening was pleasant and much appreciated.
I stayed at the hotel this past weekend. Rashaad was extremely helpful in getting me an additional night when the hotel was initially completely booked. He went out of his way to help me get situated with that additional night and helped make for a great weekend!
It's in need a an update badly. The carpets have that wet pool smell. The rooms at night are flooded by light due to poor fit of the doors. On the positive side, the water pressure of the shower is amazing (it's why I stay there)
Stayed at the hotel recommended by the bride & groom. Our room had the worst beds I have ever experienced. Mattresses were sagging and rolled to the middle; the room had no sound insulation; the door lacked a tight seal and allowed light in from the hallway; the bathroom was tiny and cramped; the carpet was stained and desk chair creases were full of food crumbs.
A quick drive from NYC and a world away. Lovely grounds, indoor and outdoor pools are a nice size and kept clean and in good shape, rooms are nice, clean, and comfortable. We choose to stay here each year for a quick stop en route to New England. My kids love this hotel for the pools and as an adult, the heated pool feature is really nice. The fitness center is really good. The tavern is fine and great to have dinner (outdoor) poolside.
There is no place to eat on the property until after 5PM. For breakfast or lunch you must leave the property and find somewhere else to eat. Extremely inconvenient for everyone, especially families with children. As soon as you walk in the door, a sewer odor hits you and continues throughout the building
Pleasant weekend. Breakfast is 20 extra pp and not too exciting. However there's a great restaurant right on property- Hudson's. The golf course has brown grass so spring for the private club to play. Double/ standard rooms have twin beds and are not comfortable for more than one. The pictures on best western website are not accurate. The south wing is super noisy and where the wedding guests are kept. The gym is big and nice. Pools are excellent but there is no shade. Pricing fluctuates a lot and I'd say 160 for the weekend night is the correct price/ anything more and you'll be kicking yourself. Pic on the left is my room. Pic on the right is from the best western site and the room I thought I booked.
The Heritage Hotel was amazing!!! From the second you walked through the siding front doors to check in until it's was time to check out, every person you encounter had a smile and was very friendly. You definitely felt like you were important. The Heritage is a great place to relax. The atmosphere is gorgeous too. Our entire family had a great weekend!!
The Heritage looks great and has so many amenities. The pool is big and clean, the fitness center and indoor pool and sauna are great. Most importantly the service is excellent. We were only there a day, but the staff each made a great impression in only a short time. Richard Miller in the fitness center took especially good care of us. Great guy with a friendly personality - knows his job well and provides really professional customer service.
It's a very good hotel With great staff I was able to relax near the pool Hayley in the gym was very good and helpful along with Keira The hotel is close to a lot of place so it made it easy to eat and explore
Issues with spa manager and services getting set up. Issues with Bill and mistakes made. Steam room was broken. Several staff were very nice but could have been more proactive in managing these issues.
Very nice place to enjoy with your family people there very nice very clean Aminda is the receptionist was very nice helping for the time I was there she also gave us all towels very clean and rolled very well
This place is beautiful very clean environment best place to take your family everyone was so respectful this place is calming they we're so respectful even the young lady at the front desk Aminda was good customer service
Enjoyed the pool. Staff was very pleasant and professional. Kudos to Liz and Tristan. They answered all my questions about the property and amenities. Restaurant suggestions were on point. Nice property. I enjoyed the comfortable lounge area. Great stay
This is an awesome getaway! The hotel is clean updated and accommodating The pool is a hidden gem Clean beautiful refreshing and close to many restaurants and stores The staff at the health club is top shelf Kind caring professional Hailey is wonderful Aminda is great Also kudos to David Sophia and Kieran Keep up the good work heritage hotel!
We stayed here after a family wedding. The accommodations and staff were excellent, as was the venue for the wedding and reception. The banquet staff was able to handle my husband's food allergy without prior notification. We will be staying here in the future when we visit the area.
I really enjoyed my stay. The room was clean and decent but that isn't what will bring me back. The two swimming pools, hot tub and fitness center were awesome, the grounds (gorgeous landscaping) and outdoor seating areas were so beautiful and relaxing. All that said, what really did it for me was when I checked out and Greta at the front desk went out of her way to help me with my membership rewards which was not applied to my stay and was a task to get resolved. I had no idea there was an issue or qhat I was missing out on... She let me head out and refused to process my check out until we resolved the matter so I wouldn't miss out on my rewards. She asked I call support since she couldn't find me in the system which I did while on the road. Before I could get back to her she called support and sorted it all out. She then called me to follow-up and to provide me with my membership number so I wouldn't miss out on my free night stay on my next visit. Exceptional service Greta!!! Thank you for going above and beyond!
I have been coming here for decades, as my grandmother and then father and stepmother lived in the condos, but I can no longer recommend this hotel. The only plus is the full-fledged fitness center open to members and hotel guests.
I get that the hospitality industry hires young people for the busy summer season, but at least train them! It is NOT ok for an employee to answer a guest's question without taking her nose out of her phone. Look up! Smile! Pretend you care!
I was part of a group staying for a wedding. I won't put my name so as not to offend the family who chose this venue for their wedding. I travel frequently and I have to say this was the 2nd worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I am not sure what rooms the pictures were taken in that are shown on their site but I can assure you their rooms don't look like this. I stayed in a King room 2 nights and a "suite" for 2 nights. There are no flowers, there is no good morning brochure propped on your pillow, why would there be? They offer no food, breakfast or anything else. Their description says they have microwaves in the room and funny there is one pictured in their photo. The rooms do not have microwaves. I and another guest asked to verify there was one upon check in and the woman looked at us like we sprouted 2 heads. Then she "made a note" to have one delivered to our rooms if available. Apparently there was never one available because they never showed up. The worst part is I believe everything in the hotel is original from when it was built. The musty smell in the Tavern bar was so overwhelming when we walked in 2 of our party had to leave because it was making them ill. If you exit the elevator on the third floor the couch sitting there has the entire right side ripped open. Check the chairs in the lobby. The arms are threadbare and they are covered in all kinds of stains. The entire place just feels so unclean because everything is old and stained and threadbare and the wallpaper is torn on top of the musty smells. Like your walking down into a really old basement. My guess is that they offer brides really great prices for their wedding packages so they will promote it to all their guests to stay there and that's where they make their money. The prices were not cheap. Pricing would be fine if the rooms were as they portray and all of the items in the room matched what they say on the site when you book. I'm pretty sure it's considered fraud to misrepresent what your providing. Part of the problem is that depending what site your on each site says different things. On one site it says they have on site dining??? No they don't. They name the Tavern Bar (it's there, the one with the bad smell), but they don't have food. They also name a Timbers Restaurant (no such place exists). They need to go across ALL travel web sites and update them with proper information and real photos of actual rooms as they really look.
Nice place but beware of security in your room. Had a cleaner steal $250 worth of wine left in a bottle in refrig. They drank half of a $500 bottle of wine and left empty bottle behind.Told manager but I got no help nor offer of compensation.
We stayed two nights here due to a visit with family members who live in the area. The room was great. It was clean and neat and quiet. The room and bath were larger than what we normally experience which just added to the positive stay. I used the fitness center and it was exceptional. A large area with plenty of equipment. We also used the pool which was well maintained. The check in went fast and the attendant was pleasant and helpful. same fit the checkout. A good detail was the ice machine which was near our room. I noticed each floor had its own ice machine and all rooms were close to it. The value here is good as the room rate was very reasonable. We certainly recommend staying here.
We stayed here to attend a wedding. While the hotel could use some upgrading on rooms and decor the service was great. The amenities were well maintained with indoor/ outdoor pools, a workout facility, and game area.
Came in for a wedding, from the outside I was like ehhh ok this is where were staying? Well the garden area was beautiful, vineyard in the back with stone garden was beautiful, their wedding hall is a great place to have a party. it has a very country feel to it. The staff were all around very nice and all accommodating, we didn't use the pool but it looked like a relaxing area. The rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable although slightly dark we weren't in there for long. If your a golfer there's a golf course as well we played on and had a great time. We'd stay again!
Jennifer and her entire team were truly spectacular. They accommodated us in every way possible and truly made us feel extremely special. Our wedding day went off without a hitch and I know it was because the Heritages attention to detail and preparedness. The pool is extremely clean and the Tavern(Bar) stayed open for us after our wedding. Thank you again and we highly recommend this venue/hotel to anyone looking to book their wedding. We will be back just for a weekend away that's how beautiful and amazing our experience was.
This property is under construction as of 6/18/2022. Banging on roof and walls 8am - 8pm. Front desk staff rude and unreasonable, you have to really fight to get bathtub unclogged. Room air conditioners above you drop water onto your unit - sounds like a gunshot with each drip. Bill did not match printout from reservation on BW site, had to fight three layers of management to get it right. This is not Best Western quality, and front desk told me they were only "loosely affiliated" with BW. Food service is hit or miss. On the plus side, the large celebration dinner was excellent. Bar staff and housekeeper excellent.
I needed to write this review to tell how much I enjoy the athletic room they have. Annie is simply the best employee that I have dealt with there. She is very professional and goes out of her way to accommodate guests. It's too bad the rest of their employees aren't like her. I have been there at times and have heard more complaining between employees instead of just doing their jobs Most of them don't even know what time of day it is. She is such an asset!!
Staff, service, food and atmosphere was great. The location is a quiet country setting. Indoor and outdoor pools, large gym. The hotel itself is old and needs an update. Rooms are on the smaller side, and bathrooms were tiny.
As a loyal guest of the Heritage Hotel, with golf, spa, Riverwalk Athletic and event center, I will say that this has been a lovely, enlivening home base to stay at during a transition. The Heritage team - Melinda, Gretta, of course Joe, the lovely young lady who greets me at the gym before I swim - all make sure you have what you need to enjoy yourself and feel at ease, bottom line. Shout out to the spa for all the healing, nourishing treatments that supported my renewal just in time for my webpage photoshoot—
My wife and I stayed at the Heritage Hotel while visiting our daughter in New Haven. The Heritage Hotel is very nice, very well maintained, and the grounds are very relaxing. This is one of the nicest BW hotels that we have used.
An excellent hotel for the price. Wonderful to have excellent food so near. We walked to Hudson Bistro where every meal was a delight. One person at the hotel really went out of her way to help us. I wish I could remember her name.
I did my reservation online. When I looked at the confirmation, it indicated that I was all set for tonight - May 16th!!! I intended to arrive in October. With a non-refundable booking paid in advance, Kaitlyn identified the problem and fixed it in a minute. She's the best...at Best Western.
Elizabeth and Tristan at the front desk were amazing above and beyond. They helped all of us. The Servers for our Banquets and meetings were also beyond and above making sure we had everything we needed, including turning down the Air Conditioner. Dinners were only ok with the Steak being well done. We all like our steak rare and mooing.
I was there the day after my wedding and told I would be in a suite. I checked into a tiny room with a king bed. Perhaps their standards for suites are different. The room was dirty including rusted lumps, dust, and a dirty sink. Additionally, the television didn't work. I would not return.
Wow. Needed to travel back to Connecticut for a family visit and my cousin tipped me off to this hidden gem. Hotel staff was great and the rooms were extremely clean as were the facilities. Next time I'm back up, this will be my go to hotel. Pool and workout area were very nice.
The Heritage Hotel is a wonderful venue for our conference. We have held it in the winter season as well as the spring. Perfect every time, and is so warm and inviting. The suites are lovely. The Tavern has delicious food, and during the winter a warm and cozy fire. The staff is a large portion of why it is such a great experience. We would like to thank Linda, Kevin, Dereck, Greta, Kaitlyn, Christine and so many more.
This was the 3rd time that we've held a large conference at Heritage. Many of us stay over the night before. The guest suites and rooms have everything that you could need, and they're comfortable and clean. We enjoy eating at the Tavern and also visiting nearby restaurants. We appreciate the complimentary coffee in the lobby! The Heritage staff make you want to come back. They are a group of friendly and organized people who will do anything for you. They are a large part of what makes the experience so positive. I hope that I don't leave anyone out, but would like to thank Linda, Dereck, Kevin, Christine, Greta, Kaitlyn (sp?Front desk) Chris (Trivia) and the lovely woman from Atlanta that was our server in the Tavern!
I had a group of 6 for both facials and massages. Not only did the staff accommodated my very last minute reservation but I felt like I had rented the spa for the day! These girls were AWESOME! They were friendly and so much fun. We spent some time in the tranquility room and they even offered us a menu from a nearby deli as the hotel kitchen was closed for a wedding. I had asked if we could use the hotel pool and they made it possible. That was the cherry on the cake. We all left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I can't say enough good things about this place. I highly recommend you take the time to visit!
It was spring break for my kids / we didn't have a budget to head out and fly somewhere/ so we looked around locally for a stay cay and we ended up at BW Heritage and for the price we got MORE than we initially bargained for ……… we felt like the “upper class” at this hotel and its accommodations ……….
went to visit Mattatuck museum in Waterbury, ct and lodged at this property overnight. Very nice facility, well maintained, rustic luxurious look did not disappoint. Room was spacious and comfortable. Bathroom spotless and all amenities functioning. Fitness center is reminiscent of a professional fitness facility, wouldn't know you were in a hotel. Excellent value. Don't miss this property when in the central ct. area.
I recently enjoyed a 3 hour spa day which included a regular manicure, massage, and facial. All three services were excellent. Each staff member from walking in the door, to all 3 services were all so nice. I would definitely come back again. Thank you for a wonderful relaxing day.
Me and my daughter went for double massages for our birthdays. We had an amazing relaxing time. Service was great and we even received an unexpected birthday surprise which we so appreciated. Thank you! We will definitely be returning
Julia at the front desk was very nice & timely. The spa was cute and priced well. Regina was so fun to chat with & attentive. Danielle is very intuitive and precise with her massages! Melinda created a great manicure for me and was incredibly friendly.
I recently visited and had a massage and a facial. The massage was great. Danielle was amazing. She knew exactly what spots to work on. She was not awkward at all and it was just an overall very pleasant experience. 10/10 recommend. My facial on the other hand left something to be desired. First off, there was nothing specially great about it. Average at best. Then she asked if I wanted my eyebrows tweezed. I figured since she's already there why not. When I go to check out I find out there's an additional fee for this service. Okay no biggie. I get it it was an additional service. Imagine my surprise when I realize the additional fee was $20 bucks. $20 to have a few stray hairs plucked. Whatever, I pay it and be on my way. Can't go back now. I go back to my hotel and look at my eyebrows thinking they must be the best eyebrows ever for that price. Well they aren't. She left so many stray hairs. Including one long dark hair directly smack dab between my eyebrows. Definitely disappointed in this considering I could have had them waxed perfectly from my normal lady for half the price. I still gave 4 stars because the massage was so amazing and I will definitely go back just for that.
A hotel, golf, spa & conference center. I was hoping for a cleaner, friendlier, experience than what we received. Thankful I had a discounted rate. I would not have wanted to pay full price for the accommodations. Firstly my room smelled musty and the furniture was dusty. I spent the night freezing as the thermostat would not keep consistent heat and no extra blankets were provided. I did enjoy the pool and hot tub at the health spa although they would not allow you to take the pool towels back to your room. I walked soaking wet across the lobby in my swimsuit back to my freezing cold room. When issues were brought to the hotel staff they were less than apologetic or sympathetic. I will say the restaurant staff was wonderful. They really understood customer service. Especially for a birthday. The spa could use improvement. They used cheap products and supplies, especially in the nail salon. My 45-1 hour treatment only lasted 40 minutes and was nothing spectacular. The spa also ran late and left me waiting 35 minutes for my appointment. Anyone planning to visit here, consider lowering your expectations.
My family and I stayed here for 1 night and it was hell. The room was disgusting. The beds were no made. The towels were all over the bathroom floor. The staff is rude and don't care. There was stain's in the carpet and the ceiling was peeling in the bathroom. The beds had hair all over and smells like body Oder. They also give you two pillows that are so small. Don't stay here I am warning you.
I recently stayed at this hotel for 10 days and 11 nights on a business trip. My room and bed were very spacious and comfortable, and the public spaces in the hotel were large and welcoming. The pool, gym, and sauna all felt great at the end of the workday. The room was very clean, and the staff were very courteous and helpful in addressing my needs. During my stay, a snowstorm dropped about 6" of snow, and so I did not get out of the hotel for 2 days. The great thing is, the hotel environment was so relaxing and inviting that I was very happy to just stay in the hotel and just decompress for 48 hours! The best part of the stay for me was visiting the spa twice for a massage. I have had many massages in many different places, and this was one of the best massages I have ever had! The therapist communicated very well with me and adjusted her technique to meet my requests and needs. When I returned home, I saw my regular chiropractor. My chiropractor commented to me that she was able to adjust me much more easily and completely because my back muscles were so much more relaxed than normal.
Friends got married here in their beautiful banquet room. Originally their wedding was cancelled because of Covid. The hotel was able to accommodate everyone with no issues. My room and hotel staff were all great. I only wish I was able to stay longer.
This was my first stay and the staff from the registration to the front desk to all employees I encountered were professional courteous and helpful My family had many requests and the staff accommodated all our needs! This was a great place so clean and friendly
I stayed here with friends for a weekend The front desk staff and registration team were so pleasant , helpful and flexible. I made several changes and the staff at the front desk went above and beyond Highly recommend
We had such a great weekend for our romantic staycation, this was close to home, but felt like a resort. We spent the evening in the hot tub and by the fire, and the night at the tavern! In the morning we had their fresh buffet breakfast overlooking the grounds. I can't say enough about this place, truly a hidden gem.
We got the opportunity to collaborate with this beautiful venue for the last few styled shoots that our bridal gowns were featured in. Ashley, helped to coordinate everything and made both days an absolute enjoyment to be involved in! She was an amazing ambassador, and really showed us everything the venue had to offer! We look forward to hosting any upcoming events we may have, at this location in the future!
This hotel is simply beautiful and charming from the prefect location to every single detail . I'm a Florist and I took part of both styled shoots with Ashley .I am grateful that I got the opportunity to work with her, she's super friendly and knowledgeable. She is the perfect person to choose to plan your event!
We have stayed before as we have friends who live in Woodbury Connecticut. It always gives us a warm feeling as we approach the hotel for check in. The front desk could not be more helpful and friendly. The rooms are always clean and are of decent size. we love to sit by the fire and chill. The coffee station in the lobby is fantastic and the atmosphere in the Tavern is great. You can't go wrong staying at the Heritage. I do want to give a shout out to Liz at the front desk, she was great.
Cozy Hidden Gem in CT I am a photographer and I attended a Styled Shoot with Ashley at the Heritage on Saturday and had such a great time! The hotel is huge with so many conference and banquet rooms! It is warm and cozy and a beautiful place for an event. The pool looked amazing. I will definitely be back to stay the weekend and visit the spa. I did not know that CT had a resort like this and I am so happy I attended this shoot and got to visit! Thank you Ashley for a great day !
Yesterday I had the pleasure of working with eventsbyashleyrae at the Heritage Hotel for a photo shoot. It was such a pleasure working with her! There was a cozy fire going and the hotel is very nicely decorated. Just the right amount of rustic to make it feel cozy! I highly recommend checking out the hotel and working with Ashleyrae to plan your amazing event!
The place is so warm and inviting. I was most familiar with the event space but did not realize there's an entire section dedicated to corporate functions with conference rooms and full AV capability. Thank you Ashley for showing us around.
My family loves to come here for holidays/family reunions. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. We love using the conference room/s for meals, since they are nice, spacious, and clean, but the best part is that the layout of the hotel is that the conference rooms are all located on the bottom floor, with no guest rooms nearby. This allows for the kids to play in the area without disturbing other guests. The other amenities, like the large gym, beautiful pool, ping pong table, pool table, and bar are great as well!
Truly a hidden gem in Connecticut! Such a beautiful spot in both the cold and warmer months. Plenty of space and activities for relaxation, health and fitness, and well-being. A modern yet cozy place to stay or have an event!
This hotel is absolutely beautiful and charming. It's a hidden gem in my opinion. A perfect wedding location with the exposed wooden beams, spa, and many amenities. I am a photographer and worked on a styled shoot with Ashley, and she is the best! Super knowledgeable about the venue and has a very easy going personality. Highly recommend!!!
The staff at the Spa were wonderful and very accommodating. Holly, Jeanette, Barbara and Melinda made us feel right at home. Myself, my three sons and my soon to be son in law had a fantastic experience and would definitely return on future visits to the hotel.
This is our go to Hotel when visiting friends and our rescue dogs Vet. It is reasonable priced, has nice rooms although not modern by today's standards- comfortable bedding and walk in showers, which we prefer over tubs. Hotel offers great amenities, very large well equipped gym, indoor pool, hot tub and saunas and a spa. The outdoor pool in the summer is huge and offers a lot of seating. This combined with very friendly staff makes this a nice place to stay. The Tavern restaurant is not full service and would love to see that improve because it is a lovely space. Enjoyed drinks there this last visit but no food was served until the weekend and even then a very limited buffet. Free Continental breakfast items are in the lobby along with coffee. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.
This is my family's third time staying at the hotel. On this trip, we met a family from NY for New Year. We both have three kids. Everyone loved it. We swam in the pool a ton, played ping pong, watched college football, and I even got to sit n the sauna for 10 minutes. I was a little skeptical of the New Years Buffet when they told me that is what we were having for dinner, but it beat all my expectations. Super clean and super delicious. John, the restaurant manager, is one of the nicest people I have ever met.
December 2021- The Front desk was very friendly and welcoming. Housekeeping staff was very friendly when seeing them in the hallway. Room was clean and well maintained Will definitely stay at this hotel again.
We checked into a room with stained sheets and a soiled urine comforter. The bathroom had broken things in it. The next room we were moved to had sweat stains on the sheets they were laundered I hope but it was awful! I just wanted to go home! It took 3 hours before we could finally get settled the front desk took a very long time to bring us clean sheets. She said she was the only one on duty at a 160+ room hotel?? at 4 pm. The second room also the heater was broken the maintenance guy came right to the room so that was good. The pool couldn't be opened because someone didn't show to work. and the front desk wouldn't or couldn't open it. I traveled with my service dog and was put in pet room which i understand. But the cleanliness of the linen seriously there's covid.!!!! throw away filthy looking linen and turning a urine stained comforter over is so WRONG!!!! I hope nothing but the best for this hotel it could be AMAZING cleanliness and Front desk attitude is important. I was ignored the next day standing at the desk with two women on duty they wouldn't acknowledge me until I said Excuse me???? it was like I wasn't there.
I made this trip for my husband and I. He's in the army and stationed in Poland but was able to come home for the holidays. We were able to take our pup with us and had no issues. Check in was pleasant, check out was a breeze, everything was clean, it was in a super cute classic New England small town, and I couldn't be happier.
Was told Timber's only served breakfast. But we could eat in Tavern. Invited friends to meet for dinner. Tavern was closed only nite of our stay. Front desk very rude. Tavern in fact only opened for drinks after mgr was called in.
this place was above and beyond amazing, in house restaurant, daily housekeeping ,just an overall great experience ,I would defiantly recommend this place to anyone, plus the pool and hot tub where very clean
We were here for a family wedding and reception. The venue was great for the reception and dinner. Food was great. Staff excellent. My disappointment is with the hotel rooms, and hotel hallways, etc. Whole area needs renovation and updating. Musty smell from carpets in hallways and common areas. Rooms are dark and dingy. Carpets worn and stained. Furniture in common areas and in the rooms have just about run there life cycle. How about some light in the rooms, really dark. Nothing but complaints from 25+ women trying to get ready for a wedding. Great venue but not a place to stay.
Poor service, the person who checked us in had a serious attitude and it took us about twenty minutes to get checked in, website claims they offer room service and when I made the reservation over the phone they confirmed this as well, they do not, their “restaurant” only offers like five choices, and on the night we went there was not a single healthy option, was unable to control the heat in our room and our coffee maker was dirty, I tried to make tea and it poured out dirty water into my cup, pool was only open until 8:15 which was absurd, parking lot had no lights which is simply dangerous, went to their spa, received a terrible manicure, and then for the pedicure, I had an allergic reaction to one of the products, had to leave to go get Benedryl in me, could not even finish the pedicure or get my toes painted, and was charged full price. Stay far far FAR away.
I'm very picky about organizing my meetings BUT this establishment fit all my logistics needs. The staff is amazing and so sweet. I highly recommend this place to fit your wedding, conference or just a day to take a vacation. You will walk up to a calm, cool ambiance from the front door. The rooms were nice and clean. The bartenders at The Tavern are so welcoming they played music i love. If you're booking a wedding or conference Candice will take good care you.
Rustic and beautiful New England resort and spa! We were there with family for a funeral and all stayed at the Heritage. The staff were extremely accommodating, the rooms comfortable and clean, and the Lounge was a great venue for our reception and celebration of life. Everyone there went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one.
The hotel is very spacious, well decorated and the grounds are beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this facility. The recreation is amazing with an indoor and outdoor pool, golf, and a large fitness center.
Staff was very helpful.Hotel easy off the highway but located in a beautiful setting.two pools and bike trail, along golf courses. Many private event rooms and the food was served hot, and all delicious.
Disappointing stay at a "premier" Best Western. The bed was soft and sagged toward the middle. There is no complimentary continental breakfast as most Best Westerns provide and we were in a remote area so finding somewhere for coffee was a 10-15 minute drive.
I was very pleased with the attentive staff and the cleanliness of the room. The food was outstanding and my overall stay was one I will remember for a long time. I was very impressed with the wait staff as they were all very young, but they certainly had respect, good manners and were more than happy to please. Overall ,it was a most rewarding stay and I would definitely go back.
Outstanding!! Service was 5 stars plus. Lisa went out of her way to help us and make my wife and I feel comfortable! Exceptional service!! Best ever from a hotel/resort! The hotel bar was great. Pool, facilities, etc all were fantastic. As strong a recommend as I can give .. Truly the best of the best .. Easy access off the highway is a perk but not close to the best perks of this hotel. I'd drive an extra 10-15 miles for the service we received and a hotel of this magnitude. Thank you Lisa!! Your kindness and genuine hospitality did not go unnoticed!! Fantastically done!! Vinny and Lauren Gambardella
It's an ok hotel, not 5 stars but you know good. Older building, so don't expect to not hear people in the hallway. Staff was very nice tho. This was my second stay, but next time I might try somewhere else, it's a bit over priced for what it is.
Aside from the artificial eyelashes in the table and the Caucasian women who stopped us from entering through the door where we were instructed to go through by the front desk, it was a nice spacious place. I understand that we are not white but we are dressed up nice and we surely did not smell like her (as my niece said, “she smells like skunk”)
The place is clean. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Lots of amenities. Indoor and outdoor pool. The restaurant on premises had a great buffett breakfast. In a nice safe area. I would definitely stay here again.
Staffing at this resort has apparently been slashed (due to Covid?). Checkin took 20 minutes due to slow process and one person working the counter. Although no notice was given online or even at checkin or change to the hotel book in the room, there was no food service. All restaurants closed. The only massage therapist doesn't work on Sundays. Maintenance has apparently been cancelled. Carpets in public areas and rooms are dirty and stained. Wallpaper is peeling at the seams. Blinds in the room are broken and dangling. Look outside the window and paint is chipped and last year's leaf clutter is still caught in the window trim. The bathroom in a Junior Suite was the smallest I have ever experienced. No counter. Can not sit on toilet and close the door. Shower has 2 inch rim with a cloth curtain so water is all over the floor. No tub. The location is lovely, the gym appears to be well kept due to local memberships, parking is convenient. It would be a great place for someone interested in maintaining a quality resort to take an interest.
We recently held a bridal shower in the Heritage Room of the Heritage Hotel. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the venue, location, and especially the people we dealt with at Heritage Hotel. Candace and her team were EXCEPTONAL to work with. The food and drink were plentiful and delicious, the room (painted in ivory and sage green) was set up just as I had requested, and the staff was attentive and helpful. There were many menus to choose from. We went with the brunch buffet, and it did not disappoint! I would HIGHLY recommend this venue for gatherings large or small.
This was just to kickback and forget life is not this much fun..so be the Royal you imagine yourself!!! There was a lot of options to explore, like golf, spas, etc…, walks, two pools, ….well.. gracious, on my week there was two “2” weddings, how cool is that.
We discovered the Heritage when we were looking for a stopover inn halfway between PA and ME. But the Heritage offered such nice amenities, such as an indoor and outdoor pool, sauna and fitness center, that we now consider our stay there, both on the way to ME and on the way back to PA, to be a destination in and of itself. Unfortunately, we like to ditch the car after 4 hours of driving, but the only restaurant on campus is awful, and an equally awful nearby deli for breakfast and lunch is closing soon, so plan on driving 2 miles into town where there are some very nice options for all meals.
We have used Heritage Hotel on 2 separate occasions for business meetings. Both times we were very impressed with the accommodations. If you are looking for a great venue, great staff, and excellent food, then this is the place! Throughout the process Linda was there to help walk me through all of the options and make the changes that we needed specific to our company. We will be using this location for years to come!
This is a little older hotel with an extreme amount of charm. Faucility is great with indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, spa, fitness center, lounge/restaurant, golf course, tennis courts, vineyard and beautiful and functional outdoor seating to enjoy on a beautiful night. We took advantage of the pools, garden area seating, out door fire seating and had a great quite relaxing time. We walked to the liquor store (just across the street, walked to the next door building(plaza ) and had great seafood take out to bring to outside pool. This hotel has lots of charm. This is my fourth time staying here and never disappoints.
We hosted a 3-day company event at the Heritage, with a group of 25-30 people. Linda Rice was amazing to work with, assisted our team in planning and coordinating, arranged services with third-party vendors, and checked in throughout the event if all was to our liking. I highly recommend the Heritage for company events. Meeting rooms are spacious, provide privacy, and the team is on stand-by with any tech/tech assistance you may need. We will definitely return to the Heritage; Personalized customer service and all the amenities you may need.
Good location, but the decor needs a facelift Lighting in the room is very low There was no coffee machine in the room. Spa services were excellent would highly recommend Parking was limited and had to park far from the entrance
For the last 12 years my family has beein staying at the Hotel for a week in August visiting me in Southbury. The hotel is beautiful in such a lovely setting but what sets it apart is the wonderful, attentitive service by the staff. A special shout out to Steve, who overseas the Club and Pool. He made our stay memorable. He is so welcoming, helpful and overall a delightful person. We will continue our family tradition staying at this great Hotel
The condition of this hotel is less than optimal and is in need of some updating. Unfortunately our stay was marred by an item that was reported to be left in the room and they hotel management has not been cooperating with us to inform us on the status of our claim.
Perhaps a corporation with enough funds will purchase this hotel and start major renovations. This hotel has nerve charging a resort fee when it is not a resort. Window air conditioners date back 25 years ago. That air conditioner in my room was so nosy, I may have gotten 3 hours sleep. Also, the rugs need to be removed, the bathroom had, what looked like black mold. The remote on the tv did not work properly and only network channels were free. As this was a business trip, I did not use any of the so called amenities. Charge a separate fee for amenities ! Who would vacation in Southbury? Weary traveler beware of the 4 pm check in.
Must have been a fabulous hotel 20 years ago. Seems to be undergoing staff/management changes. The steam room was dirty and pretty useless. The sauna door did not close sufficiently. I must say the hot tub was forcefull and hot. The premises are lovely and it is a shame that the hotel did not seem to meet up to Southbury standards. The cleaning crew was super noisy in the morning. I had to open my door to tell them to be quiet! I was most annoyed when I received my bill and there was a daily resort fee ($8.00) added to my room. Mind you I had 2 adjoining rooms. One for myself and the other for my daughter with a newborn baby. She did not use any amenities whatsoever. Never left the room! The vending machines were void of water the first day we got there so we proceeded to buy 2 bottles at the front desk. The women said they would be the same price as the vending machine which was $2.00. When I received my bill I saw $5.58 and $.41 tax for a bottle billed to my room, then $3.72 and $.27 tax billed to the second room. What the heck was that about? I will be speaking with a manager who will be working on Sat 8/21 about this debacle! NOT happy. Regret staying there.
We stayed here for a weekend getaway to the local amusement park. Wasn't sure what to expect because we had never heard of this hotel and conference center. We were pleasantly pleased. The decor was rustic but modern. Staff was exceptional. Cleaning team was superior. Cleanest bathroom I've ever experienced at a hotel. Pool and gym facilities were amazing. Outdoor pool was so wonderful. Hotel grounds and building were simply stunning. The outdoor gardens were so relaxing you could hear birds chirping and crickets. Would love to stay here again even just to come to the hotel for a weekend trip. AMAZING.
My partner and I planned a three-day stay at the Heritage Hotel, a hidden gem in Southbury, CT, and walked away refreshed, relaxed and ready to go back soon! Our guest room overlooked the charming brook and outdoor pool/deck area. Noise levels were good. Our week of "athletic" challenges continued at the Hotel beginning with 9-hole golf at the Pomperaug Golf Course, adjacent to the hotel. My first on a golf course and was grateful to the kind staff at the club for loaning me clubs and appreciate the patients of the regulars as a navigated the fairways. Overall super experience! The rest of the week we played tennis, swam in the indoor/outdoor pools, worked out in the fitness center, and relaxed in the hot tub. We enjoyed the Tavern and the hospitality of John who allowed us to bring out take-out food from the newly opened Southbury Seafood Market while enjoying a cocktail or two. Fresh seafood and well-prepared/presented; check out this place!!! Our stay finished with a spa treatment which was both relaxing and much needed. Most important were the people at Heritage that truly made this trip special. Beginning with Holly, the spa manager, who answered all my questions about the hotel and overall experience. She is a gift to the hotel! David the GM introduced himself to us immediately and kept abreast of our experience when seeing us on the property. We felt welcomed and a part of the Heritage family. We can't wait to make a second trip at a place that makes you feel miles away from home!
Toilet paper holder ripped off the wall when I got to Room and hole in the wall! Toilet paper just sitting on toilet..for over $200 the room should not have been booked, housekeeping should have let managers know. I was concerned about a hole in the bathroom wall, but too tired to move so I just plugged TP in it and slept!
The hotel needs renovating. The carpets are worn and filthy. Elevator smelled of cigarette smoke. Bedroom smelled like a sewer. The floor is the room above creeked so we could hear every move. Bathrooms are tiny and lighting needs improvement.
We had a fantastic stay at the Heritage Hotel celebrating my Dad's birthday with over thirty members of our extended family. We all stayed one or two nights at the hotel. The rooms and the hotel facilities (pool, fitness center, grounds, restaurant/bar) were all top-notch. Several of us took advantage of the pet-friendly hotel and brought our dogs, which was fun! The celebration dinner was great with good options for the different diet preferences. We are looking forward to future visits!
The facility is a place to relax and recharge. The pool and gym are for the body and the outdoor courtyards relax the mind. The indoor and outdoor pools are well maintained. The outdoor stone work, firepit and vineyard views are experiences not to miss.
The Heritage Hotel is a welcoming place to hold a large family get-together. Indoor and outdoor pools keep the younger set happy while the adults can relax and visit. Our catered dinner was excellent as well with staff who were attentive and very helpful. At least one wedding was also going on that weekend; the hotel is spacious enough for multiple events. All in all, a very enjoyable time at the Heritage. I highly recommend it.
Our daughter had her wedding reception at the Timbers at the Heritage Hotel. We were so pleased with the entire experience. The hotel had many amenities for our guests to enjoy. The staff was amazing...so helpful throughout the entire wedding planning and celebrating. We would highly recommend this venue!
Overall had a wonderful time. Right on the golf course and normal rooms. Definitely older space but was cozy. Went for a wedding (food was ok) and the venue was very nice. Only disappointment is they advertise the winery and it is definitely not a winery but rather just for show. Overall a nice experience
I've stayed at The Heritage many times before with excellent experiences. This most recent time (post COVID) was not at all good. Our room had a lot of leftover hairs from previous occupants and there bathroom had little brown ants crawling around. They seemed to be coming out of cracks near the floor moulding. Mind you, this room was in the 3rd floor so those little guys traveled a long way to my bathroom. The Tavern restaurant used to be excellent. This time was the worst experience I've had in a long time. Our server was definitely the worst server that I've ever had in all my years of dining out. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered a burger and the bun was most definitely frozen previously. That bun was so dry that crumbled apart while I was attempting to eat my meal. Overall I would no longer recommend this hotel to anyone which is a shame because I used to love staying there. It's definitely fallen off since I stayed there last. There are definitely better options for the money in that area. Steer clear.
My family and I want to extend our appreciation to the GM - David Rijas for accommodation our request for the outdoor pool to be available during our stay. This was our second time staying at this hotel and we even invited our friends and family to come along to celebrate my son bday here. The morning staff are great except for one that do not need mentioning but she def need customer service training dealing with loyal customers.
My Wife and I are splitting up vendor reviews and I was excited to write the review for Heritage Hotel! From the months leading up to the wedding until the day of Heritage was nothing but wonderful! As we approached our wedding state guidelines for COVID continued to change. Heritage did a great job keeping us updated with what that meant for us, as well as being flexible as we made adjustments to headcount, locations of cocktail hour/DJ etc. always coaching us through the experience. Next on the night before the wedding there was a large storm and the power went out throughout the hotel as we were all hanging out the Heritage Hotel Bar (the Tavern). The Heritage Staff was wonderful and actually moved us from the bar into the cocktail hour room (which still had some emergency lighting), setting us up with candles and allowing us to have almost an impromptu pre party! Finally on the day of the wedding we had to transition from being mostly outside to inside due to rain, and everything went off without a hitch! Overall we would highly recommend Heritage and we were happy to go through this experience with them!
None of the guests were wearing masks even though we are still in Covid. Also the guests were extremely loud. Running up and down the halls at all hours of the night. Then to top it off the spa wasn't open which was the main reason we picked the hotel. The front desk associates were nice though.
My Brother had his wedding here and I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone! First off the staff is amazing there and did everything possible to make my brother and sister-in-laws day one to remember! Second it is a beautiful place with a lot of tranquility and natural beauty! 5 stars isn't enough I would give 100 stars! You go Heritage Hotel!
My wife and I had to push our venue wedding but wanted a small ceremony with our immediate family. In just a few short months we were able to work with John at The Tavern to put together the perfect day. John and his staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for our day. They were attentive and friendly and made everything so easy. John personally saw to the set up, food, and every detail to get the room ready for our ceremony. He even helped out during our ceremony to help it run smoothly. We can't say thank you enough for all they did for our special day and we can't wait to go back for another great experience!
My wife and I had to push our big venue wedding but wanted to do something small with our immediate family. John and his staff at the Tavern made it all possible! They went above and beyond to make our little wedding perfect! He personally saw to the set up, food, and all the details and even helped out during our ceremony to help it go seamlessly. We cannot say enough about the staff at the Tavern and are so grateful for everything they did to make our wedding day beautiful! We will definitely be going back to enjoy another great experience at the Tavern!
I stayed at the Heritage Hotel, Spa,Golf & Business Center. The property is absolutly gorgeous. The River side room is very peaceful & quaint. Over looking the River & the Golf Course was awesome. I can't wait to play some golf. The room was lovely, aside from a few quick fixes by the Staff. Everyone was very friendly & accomodated my needs. The heated pool & hot tub was also a great addition to my experience. I can't wait for the Sauna to reopen & the Spa. The gym is the size of a football filed or larger. All of this can be seen from the lobby área on the first floor. There are beautiful tables where you can enjoy a private dinner or cocktail. The Tavern Restaurant is something I look forward to trying. I will definitly be a return guest. I plan to join the River Walk Health Club as well. Thank you to the entire Staff at the Heritage Hotel. Mary, Katlyn, & Ed are all so friendly & proffesional. 5+ STARS from me.
Absolutely a wonderful place for a function. Everyone - in any capacity- was extremely attentive to our needs. Cannot find Althing toco plain about. Food was delicious (every meal). Linda Rice was our “go to” for the Convention and did an amazing job. Cannot wait to go back. A perfect “10”.
Had the privilege of enjoying the Connecticut State Association of Emblem Clubs convention at this incredible hotel. The service and attention to detail was unmatched. Food was wonderful. Pool and hot tub were perfect. EVery staff member was determined to make our stay perfect and they succeeded. We are returning next year. Hopefully the year after.
Was there for our CSAEC state convention. We used meeting rooms, banquet rooms, and Tavern. Everyone was so accommodating and willing to help. The Staff was very pleasant. Linda went above and beyond when we were setting up our banquets. The salt water pool and hot tub were wonderful. The food was delicious. Looking forward to being there again next year.
We needed a local place to stay while having work done on our property. The Heritage fit the bill nicely, being close and reasonably priced. Only negative was a very squeaky floor. We felt badly for anyone that may have been in the room below us. The hotel accommodated our request for a fridge in the room and the housekeeping staff did a good job keeping the room clean and comfortable. Theresa and Jasmine at the front desk were very friendly.
Gourmet Restaurant, High quality fitness, pool, & hot tub, Beautiful setting, and Great location. The restaurant is open after hours and offers a very diverse menu. The fitness room is massive with big screen TV'Sand all kinds of equipment. There is an indoor lap pool with a hot tub and a large outdoor pool in a beautiful setting. The location is central to many locals. I highly recommend this hotel as I am a Holiday member as well and haven't been in one as nice as this hotel.
We hosted a leadership workshop with senior executives of 15 corporations in this hotel. The room layout with round tables, table covers, ergonomic chairs looked extremely professional. Everyone had a warm and welcomed feeling as they stepped into the room. Ryan Griffen, their Corporate Sales Manager, and other staffs very very courteous and went extra mile to work with us to make our event a success. Towards the end their General Manager came by to personally ensure that their service was up to our expectation. There were many other companies using other parts of the facilities for their corporate event, yet they ensured that we receive personal attention and services as required. It's a beautiful facility and I will strongly recommend this place. We are already discussing our next event with them. Filson Thomas - President, Archegos Consulting
We just attended a wedding at this venue. The venue is beautiful and everyone did an awesome job. The cocktail hour was great and we loved the firepit and outside vineyards. The grounds are beautiful.
...we had a standard king room but found it to be very luxurious. Nicely appointed and spacious, we were very comfortable!! The grounds are attractive and must be beautiful in spring, summer and fall. The lounge was very comfortable with excellent service and a good selection of beverages. Hope to try the restaurant next time!
I've been coming to the Heritage hotel for work now for several years and I always find it very welcoming with every stay. I've gotten to know the staff and feel very much at ease there. Whenever we have a need that has to be addressed they go about it in a professional way. I can't wait to go back and take advantage of the golf course on site. The Gym there is like no other hotel gym. Indoor pool, spa & steam room. Plenty of towels and the equipment works great.
I have been coming here for professional trainings on and off for years and always think that Heritage has so much potential but never quite gets there. The grounds, location, fitness center, pool, and common areas are quite lovely. The staff is friendly and always aims to be helpful. But the rooms are just ok and some of the choices seem unfortunate, from a decline in the quality of the food to the decision to go with cheap toilet paper and smaller towels in the bathrooms. And why can't a place like this either learn to make decent coffee or else acknowledge that it can't and have a small cafe, be it a Starbucks or independent coffee purveyor in or near the building?
The Heritage Hotel is immaculate, has beautiful decor, and fireplaces that bring back childhood memories for me. It's nestled in a cozy location, with pleasant views from anywhere in the hotel. I came to the hotel out of necessity but couldn't help but turn it into somewhat of a vacation. My children and I enjoyed the warm salt pools, as snow was melting outside. Hotel staff are courteous, knowledgeable and professional. The hotel has lots to offer and I plan to come back without the children one day to take advantage of the spa, or even to hangout at the tavern. There's so much to experience here!
Rooms pleasant pool fantastic and nice temp. Lounge areas cozy, and nice to have live music in restaurant, fun to have table tennis and exercise classes - a real special place. Will definitely return but probably give the breakfast a miss as very basic,
Beautiful and unique building, felt like an enormous lodge rather than your standard boring hotel! So interesting! The entire place was very clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Even with a large group of young people there for an event we were not disturbed at all while sleeping (the facility is so large they must have been in another area once the night got rolling).
The Heritage Inn and Spa is a faded lady decor wise but has all of the amenities that you would want and then some. The rooms are spacious and some come with refrigerators and a beautiful view. All of the staff are friendly and efficient and the food is good but not fancy. the amenities include an indoor and outdoor pool and indoors there is a state of the art exercise room. I think that the nightly price of a room is reasonable for what you get.
We stayed there while in the area on business. It was the off-season, so the rates were very reasonable. The hotel is pet-friendly, for a fee. the property is nicely-decorated and the rooms are clean and quite spacious. The people are all very friendly and professional. Our room did not have a refrigerator, but they brought one up at no charge. It's a very big place, and even when there's a lot of people staying, it doesn't seem crowded. We will definitely stay there again.
This hotel was beautiful. The front lobby was gorgeous, with a beautiful fireplace and several sitting/lounge areas. Coffee/tea is available all day. Hotel is very clean. The rooms are nice, comfortable bed. The food was also great.
This hotel was a big surprise to me in the middle of winter. Family-friendly, lots to do inside, pool, gym, ping pong. Very clean. Room was perfect! Staff was very courteous, especially Ann Marie, known as Annie among the staff. Very reasonable rates and a perfect winter get-a-way for people on a budget.
We have been coming to the Heritage for years for a short getaway. The hotel recently joined the Best Western chain. We feel that the prior independence was part of the hotel charm and appeal, and since joining the chain, it has gone downhill. Some random thoughts: - Room smelled old and moldy. - HVAC unit was ridiculous. It could be either "on" or "off" - and the thermostat did nothing. It also never really warmed up, so the room stayed cool all night. There were no extra blankets in the room. - The walk-in shower had a a standard curtain hanging, which is meant for a bathtub. So, it's too short and the water leaked all over the floor. - The bathroom has two different types of light bulbs. One was one of those CFL bulbs, which flickered constantly. It was like showering in an old horror film. - Two (cheap off-brand) body wash and no shampoo were provided in bathroom. Called down at midnight (while child was in shower) asking that some shampoo be brought up. The response was: "Sorry, I don't have anyone here to bring it to you." Seriously? They want to be known as a full service conference center? - There used to be a nice breakfast available with omelette station, as well as a nice and fresh selection of breakfast items. The breakfast helped make the hotel stand out a bit. Now, they are just using the same standard fake eggs (watery and gross); frozen warmed potatoes, etc. found at typical chain hotels - and they charge $16 for it. This was so disappointing. One positive note: Simone at the front desk was delightful. The few other staff we encountered were also very friendly. We will not return.
The room was large but in the middle of December it had no heat . Bed had lightweight covers and NO extra blankets in room. They offered a $25 credit. No chair at desk or table near sofa. They said they had none. Restaurant had only one waitress ( this was over New Years holiday weekend). Dinner took 45 minutes after we ordered to be delivered. Food was less than acceptable. Both public bathrooms had NO soap in the ladies rooms. Tried 2. Hotel has great possibilities but is basically threadbare. Disappointing because family is close by but we will plan somewhere else next trip.
We spent a weekend here in December 2018. The hotel was very clean and spacious. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We felt this hotel was not luxurious, but it was a very good value (less than $110 a night with AAA membership). We found the staff and crowd at the bar on Saturday night to be very friendly and had a good time. We would certainly consider coming again.
This spacious hotel offered appealing lounges, attentive staff and one of the best gym areas I've seen - very large pool and jacuzzi. Even exercise classes, yoga and pilates! AT A FABULOUS PRICE! A real find!
If you want a tranquil atmosphere in a woodsy environment, this is your hotel. Perfect place to enjoy good food, excellent staff and a variety of recreational ops including a pool, fitness area, spa and golf. The room we stayed in was acceptable and a bit old but did the trick. Special mention to Annie who waitressed our meals and the New Year's Eve party organized by a friend for a group of 22. We had a superb private room, The Heritage Room, with an excellent buffet and a beautiful fire blazing throughout the night.
A great experience! The Heritage is a gem of a hotel with a rustic wooden interior, kind and courteous staff, clean rooms, well-working amenities, a great gym and pool: A terrific place for a weekend or get-away spot!
I would definitely stay here again. The cost is similar to other hotels but the setting is much nicer. It has a cozy lodge feeling with several sitting rooms, one with a fire in the fireplace. The staff is friendly and fairly efficient. The restaurant is not a destination in itself but was fine. I felt the breakfast buffet was a little overpriced for the attention to replenishing and service that was given. the resort fee is modest.
We have stayed here a few times since we have relatives in this area. The room is always clean and attractive. The bathroom is a little small but the shower is really good and the bed comfortable. Only complaint and it is minor, is the coffee in the lobby it was always empty when we were leaving except this time but it was terrible, tasted like coffee syrup with hot water added! I guess we will be stopping at the deli a short distance away for coffee every visit.
Very comfortable, great fitness center, friendly, efficient staff, lovely surroundings. Jacuzzi, spa, bar lounge, game room, ping pong. good vibes, family-friendly,l ook forward to returning! jkj lkskn ksahklhnlhnabkihjf/ljpfojn lnasiufpojfgpo oasiuporof
On Sunday, December 9; The Heritage Hotel hosted a Brunch with The Beatles in The Timbers Ballroom. It was FANTASTIC! The “Beatles” were awesome, the crowd sang along and some even danced to the music, the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were so warm and welcoming. The Hotel looked beautiful dressed in its Christmas decor. It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and I, as well as many of the guests, look forward to more events like this at The Heritage Hotel.
Spent a wonderful weekend here last week. The rooms were clean and the beds were super comfy. The staff was went above and beyond to accommodate our large and rambunctious group. They helped out with everything!!!! And great music too!!!
We stayed here in November. After checking in we went down to the Tavern for dinner which was good, and our server (can't remember her name) was very friendly. Our room needed to be updated as it reminded me of the 70's. The shower had mold down along the bottom caulking. The next day we left, and when we returned about 8:30 p.m. we discovered that our room had never been made up! No clean towels, sheets, etc. Unfortunately, when going to this area, there aren't a lot of choices in hotels. But it may be worth it to stay a little distance from town and drive in, just to stay at a better hotel. PS - We were supposed to receive a free breakfast coupon upon checking, but when we got to the restaurant we realized that we had not received one. Another trip back to the front desk.......
We stayed there for two nights. The room was exceptionally clean, and when you couple it with the high ceilings, the room felt airy as though we were all alone in place all to ourselves. There were no sounds from any of our neighbors either, which added to the ambiance. But whenever we encountered staff - whether it was the front desk, housekeeping, meal servers, or spa - they were extremely polite, helpful, thoughtful, and caring. I cannot recommend the Heritage any higher than what I did, but if I could have I would have.
It's ok. If you're in the north wing the rooms are renovated and are just fine. If you're in the south wing, the musty, moldy odor is hard to take. It was so overpowering we had to request a new room. When I explained the issue the guy at the desk couldn't care less. Really nice gym and pool though.
Spent Veterans Day weekend at The Heritage with family, our 5th time at this property. Check in was with Gian who couldn't of been nicer or more accommodating. The Heritage Hotel should feel fortunate to have someone of Gian's caliber working for them.
The week of November 5-9, 2018, my husband and I ran the fifth in a series of Negotiating Solutions workshops at the Heritage Hotel & Conference Center. Thirty-two aviation professionals from all over the US, Canada, and Poland were in the session. It is an intensive, immersion program. It needs to be done at a first-class training facility, one certified by the IACC (the International Association of Conference Centers). The Heritage is certified by the IACC. Our first session was run at Babson's Executive Conference Center - known to everyone in the training field as a first class facility. We have happily run the next five sessions at the Heritage. In sum, we are more satisfied at The Heritage - in part because we matter more to them. For example, the workshop starts at 8 am on a Monday and goes to 1 pm on Friday. At 11 am on the Sunday before the workshop, the top Heritage staff (Director of Sales, Banquets, Conference Services, Front Desk, all met with us in a private conference room to go over every aspect of room reservations, meals (including special dietary requirements), room setups, agenda, tweaking lessons learned from prior sessions, BEOs, etc. Some of them came in specifically on the Sunday to attend the meeting. Then, all week long, they meticulously assured that our room setups are done, done well, and done to a very tight schedule. Garry Heyward, director of conference services, and his staff know the program inside out and continually make sure every element of the schedule is met and met well, that the break stations were welcoming, with a range of snacks from healthy to sinful, and plentiful. Food service was exquisite - not just tasty and plentiful, but beautiful. One benefit is there is very little turnover in the staff, all the way down to the young men who manage the multiple room changes the program requires. They know us and know our needs. I'd like to call out two special people who exemplify why we are so very pleased to continue to work with the Heritage - a young woman named Annie who works to set up and replenish the break stations (and other things), and an older woman named Bruna, who cleans the rooms in the north wing of the hotel. Both of them not only do their jobs with loving care and attention to detail, but both give me heart-felt daily hugs. It is so easy for staff in such roles to be invisible to the guests and not to feel part of something larger than themselves. Both Annie and Bruna (and multiple other people in background roles) exemplify the spirit of the Heritage Hotel and Conference Center. They make us feel not just welcome and taken care of, but cherished. I cannot recommend the Heritage more highly.
Might not be the most "state of the art" or newest property around...but if you are looking for a good value and amazingly positive and helpful staff that will work tirelessly to assist you and make you feel at home?? Then this is the place! Conference staff was some of the best I've ever worked with. Rooms are cleaned at and ready in record time and then front desk staff was both professional and personable. The restaurant even made me a plate that wasn't even on the menu! Bartenders were positive and fun!
Along with many outstanding amenities in the hotel, the conference center staff and accommodations were top-notch. Linda and Garry and their staff were wonderful to work with - knowledgeable, friendly, prompt to address any of our needs. The breakout rooms had everything you could ask for, the A/V equipment and staff was top notch, and the food was excellent. The participants were extremely satisfied, and we received many unsolicited compliments, Again, the hotel and conference center were excellent, but it is the Staff that raise the level of the Heritage to "Premier" level. We look forward to holding our event there again next year and in the future.
Stayed overnight and woke up to no hot water in the shower. Clearly the front desk and maintenance did not believe me. 20 min after calling the front desk maintenance showed up offering to check the shower. Check the water temp? I had to leave so no shower. I was offered some extra points but no concern. Will not be staying there again.
I was with a group of about 30 colleagues for a two night business meeting. The entire staff in particular the sales manager (Ryan) took great care of us and very attentive. The resort went through some major renovations a couple years ago and is clean and comfortable. A nice neighborhood bar in the hotel as cold beer and good wings. A cozy fireplace is nice as well. I planned the meeting and would definitely go back. Thanks to Ryan and his team for helping to make this a successful meeting.
A beautiful spot for any kind of meeting. They really care about the full package: the food, the ambience, the service. This place especially shines in the fall due to its country setting. Fireplaces are going and adding to the warmth of this experience.
I stayed for a week long business trip. Front desk was helpful. Their breakfast was not a great selection. Grabbed a muffin in the morning and left. Comfortable beds. Rooms need updated. There is not enough parking. Location is ok for eateries. Hour and 1/2 away from Hartford Airport.
We stayed here for 2 nights for a family wedding and I have to say that this was one of the best times we have ever had. The hotel is huge and has many different areas to sit and relax. The bar was fantastic and everyone working there was pleasant and helpful. We had a king room which was over sized than most hotels and best of all it was spotless. I would not hesitate to come back again to take advantage of the gym and pools.
We recently hosted a conference at this property and the floor ops staff were truly amazing. Linda in Sales is just a pleasure to work with, Garry met all of our needs and exceeded our expectations in the meeting spaces and Annie was pleasant, hard working and accommodating! It was truly a great event thanks to these three!
Booked 4 rooms for two nights for my son's wedding weekend. Price was very high for a suburban hotel/resort plus added daily resort fee. Walls were paper thin and our set of rooms with heating issues during the chilly weekend. Rooms had issues with floor lamps turning on and off when we sat on the bed. Hotel is in need of major refresh. Think late 1980's decor and carpet. Customer service was just okay at check in.Self service luggage carts and crowded parking. Some of our party was able to use pool and hot tub but hours were limited to 930pm.
Our family had an amazing time at the Heritage Hotel this past weekend! We took a quick New England getaway and this was the perfect destination! I was able to take a little mommy time and enjoy the on-site Spa! My massage and facial were incredible! My family and I loved touring the hotel grounds and we were even able to see a wedding taking place. There was a beautiful vineyard to walk through and awesome gardens. The sceary at the hotel is stunning ... perfect for New England! We had dinner at the Tavern. The food was excellent! We even got to spend some time in the indoor pool since the weather was too cold and not in season for the outdoor pool. I was not able to use the athletic club and fitness facility.. but if I had more time I would have loved to! I will definitely stay there again!
I found this hidden hotel when traveling in Connecticut for business. It's tucked away in its own community. The hotel is lovely with a heated indoor pool and gym. The grounds are on a golf course and are beautiful. Newly upgraded rooms are great. On premise restaurant which I have not tried yet. I stay here once a month for business. Definitely worth the travel to find it.
Called last minute and the the hotel was very accommodating without price gouging. This hotel is huge. Golf course, banquet rooms, full on bar / restaurant on property. I wouldn't say it's a new Hotel but the property is very clean, front desk staff is friendly and prompt with check in process. The Tavern resturant is locates just off the main lobby with full bar service as well as table service. Rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. It's my first time staying here and have no reason to say not give it a try. Enjoy!!
Excellent staff and location. The location is excellent. All the staff was caring and cordial. Will return soon.Well appointed room and clean. The grounds are very manicured.Allison and John in the restaurant and lounge went out of their way to accomodate.
This hotel manages to capture old world charm while still providing up to date amenities. The service is stellar, the rooms are nice size, and the grounds are well maintained. Definitely recommending this hotel if you're in the area.
Let me start off by saying the amenities for this hotel are above average! There's both an indoor and outdoor pool, a huge gym, games room, fireplaces, etc! However, that's where the positive part of the review ends. I booked this hotel, since I was getting married in the area and had a room block for many of my guests. I booked a suite since 1, it was my wedding night, and 2, the bridal party needed space to get ready in the morning. The total for 2 nights was over $600! The only difference between the suite and the regular rooms is a mini fridge and a living room space, that adds just slightly more room. The rooms themselves are extremely dated and the entire hotel has a very musty smell to it. It's also very dark in the rooms and the walls/floors are paper thin and I got very little sleep. This was definitely not a $300/night stay! The main areas are so lovely but the rooms themselves need serious work. I would also like to say that it would've been nice for them to not charge us for our wedding night, considering how much business we brought them through our room block. Needless to say, unless they go through an entire renovation, I will not return.
We thought we were staying at a resort but the joke was on us.The hotel is a disaster. This place should have been renovated at least 20 years ago. The rooms are musty, bedding is uncomfortable (especially the pillows), bathrooms are small and you hear everything in the hallway. Even the teenage boys complained about it! Needless to say we will not be back. The only resort aspect of Heritage was the fact the lounge was open until late so we could get a drink. The bartenders were friendly and easy going. Breakfast in the morning was disappointing. Thankfully we had plans for the day that did not include the hotel so we decided to check out and take our chances on finding another 2 rooms for that night. Hotel didn't even question why we were checking out early.
We recently stayed at the Heritage Hotel for a friend's wedding. They've really made some great improvements to the property with the recent renovations. We were at this property about 3 years ago for another wedding and I hardly recognized the facility. There is an entire new wing of guest rooms and a beautiful indoor and outdoor pool area. The fitness area is better equipped than the gym I pay a membership to attend. It is not what you expect at a hotel. We were very pleased with the improvements to the property.
Stayed here for a nearby wedding, much better than the chain hotels in the area. Room was nicely done, recent renovation I believe. Used the gym which is also a publ;ic fitness center but no one was there, nice equipment. Pool, however, was packed, mostly travellers probably all there for weddings. Had dinner in the bar and it was excellent and reasonable, decent beer selection, even a piano player, although he was too young to know many songs. In the morning went to the nearby cafe and it was great! Grabbed some lunch food too. Excellent and cheap. Downside was the golf next door. A nine hole layout that was in the worst condition I've seen all year. Horrible upkeep
Booked a 2 night stay here for 3 main reasons. 1. Had a hot tub 2. Had indoor / outdoor pools 3. Was close to Quassy park I arrived late. About 8pm. The front clerk woman was on the phone. I get that but I would have liked her to at least look up at me, give me some eye contact or a head nod. This still didn't happen even after her continuing to be on the phone for roughly 10minutes. Very frustrating! When I entered it wasn't very obvious how to get around and find anything. Had to ask the front clerk how to get to the pool, gym, breakfast. Usually places have a signs or map in the room of the lay out. This place does not. That night I went to go straight to the hot tub steam room and sauna. Was so exited to have all 3 in one hotel! Get into the indoor pool area and spot the hot tub. It's so nice and large ! Go to dip my toe in and that's when I notice it's not even full ?? At that point there were no signs up indicating this though the next day there was one on the door and one near the hot tub. I went to the sauna and steam room but they were just ok. Neither one as hot or steamy as I'd like. Figured I'd just go back to my room and take a nice hot bath. Nope! Just a shower stall No tub ! So very unhappy.i knew I was going to have a stressful trip and really wanted the relaxation. Next morning I go to grab some coffee from near the front desk. They were out. Hey it was 9:45 am figured everyone else was up before me, no worries. Told the front desk person and she said she would take care of it. I asked. Where I could get food and coffee she indicated where to go. Off I went. Walked in and it was a buffet. Nothing major. I've seen larger Buffett's at Spring Hill Suites Marriotts but I went and got my coffee and scrambled eggs and sat down. After about 5 minutes from sitting down was when I saw there was staff. No one came near me or said anything. A while after being finished a server finally came over and asked if I had a ticket? Nope. Did I get breakfast included with my stay? I don't really know did I ? She asked me my room number and never came back. Figured I was good. Went to go head out but swung back by the front to get another cup of coffee. 40 minutes later and still no coffee! But the way it was the same thing the following morning but that was at 6:45 am. Another guest was patiently sitting waiting for the front desk clerk she informed to get it refilled and that was 15 minutes prior. The pools were good and over all the hotel was nice. I'd say on the scale of a 3 star hotel definitely not 5 star or resort quality. By the way I got charged $15 for my 2 scrambled eggs and coffee from the cheap buffet. I will say it's nice to have ping pong tables pool table and air hockey. They also have a mini arcade that has about 3 video games. Two of which ate my money. Between the service, broken hot tub and no bath tub add on top of that resort fees and charges for buffet I wouldn't stay here again. I can go to a Fairfield Inn, town suites or SpringHill suites and get just as much probably more for less money!
We come up here very often, over six times a year. The rooms are nice, and the place has been redone. The outdoor pool is great and they have an unbelievable fitness center. There's also an indoor pool. This is not to say that there isn't room for improvements. I'd prefer that the bathrooms have shower stalls rather than tubs. The people who work at the front desk are spectacular. I've worked with Megan many times and she makes me feel welcome and is always accommodating.
We recently booked 30 rooms for a family wedding. The reception was not at Hetitage but all of our out of town guests stayed there and we had the rehearsal dinner and breakfast there the day after the wedding. The facility is great and reasonably priced. Rustic setting with pool, fitness center, restaurants, golf and tennis. We heard no majior complaints from our guests and all had a great time when using facilities. We even had a great time in the lounge where many of us went after the wedding. The only recommendation I would make is that some of the carpet needs replacing throughout the facility. It is past the point really of just maintenance. My wife and I plan to come bsck for an overnight purely to enjoy the wide range of facilities they have.
I stayed here with a couple friends for a quick weekend getaway. The hotel staff is so warm and friendly, and they had a food and drink sampling in the lobby when we arrived which was fun! Our room was very clean and had a nice view overlooking the outdoor pool. Dinner at the Tavern was delicious and the service was excellent. The gym is huge and has lots of new equipment as well as lots of space to work out. You can easily stay here and not even have to leave for anything, as there's so many things to do! I also went to the spa and had the flowers body exfoliation which was so amazing and relaxing! Although I stayed here with friends, this is also a great place for families as there are arcade games, foosball and ping pong tables throughout the hotel. The outdoor pool is huge so it didn't feel crowded even when there were a lot of people there. We also checked out the Southford Falls State Park to go hiking and see the waterfalls, which is just 10 minutes from the hotel.
I recently visited the Heritage Hotel with a group of friends for a relaxing girls night. From the moment we walked into the hotel the staff were very welcoming and helpful. They saved me when I forgot my razor. Our room was extremely clean and spacious. I loved the size of the bathroom! The dinner at the Tavern was delicious. I definitely recommend the buffalo chicken sliders and nachos! My friend and I did an early morning workout and I was shocked at how much equipment they have, way better than any other hotel I have ever been to. I got a great workout using the Expresso bike, taking a 4.5 mile virtual reality ride through a redwood forest. After the workout we enjoyed room service, which was a huge portion of food that I couldn't even finish. The stay ended with a few hours by the pool, sunbathing and enjoying a raspberry daiquiri from the poolside bar. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and my only wish is that my friends and I could have stayed another night, but the hotel was all booked ??.
We stayed at the Heritage for a family wedding in July. The rooms were neat, modern and clean. Lighting is very poor such that I was unable to apply makeup. Very noisy with people yelling obcentities in the hallway at all hours. I was waken by housekeeping early in the morning. They entered our room without knocking and when they noticed we were there, slammed the door and ran. Room service took almost 2 hrs to receive and food was cold and items missing when it finally arrived. Not very professional. If you are in the area, and need to stay locally, it probably is the best in the area however would not choose to come had it not been for the wedding.
We stayed at the Heritage over the fourth of July attending a family gathering in Southbury. The positives about the hotel - very welcoming and pleasant staff, immaculately clean facility. The negatives - our room 367, which is an accessible room but was given to us because the hotel was fully booked even though we do not have disabilities, desperately needs upgrading. The bed was lumpy and sagged in the middle, time for a new mattress. The bathroom door stuck and it took some effort to open and close. The faucet in the sink is loose and may at some point come off creating a flooding situation. The entrance door is opposite the bed and the bright lighting in the hall intruded into the room around the perimeter of the door. Breakfasts are overpriced and not of particularly good quality. After the first morning we went across the street to Friendly's, much better quality at one-fourth the cost. The $5 charge for a "resort fee" is ridiculous for guests only using their room. We probably will not stay at this hotel when we next visit our family in Southbury.
My friends and I stayed at the Heritage Hotel on a recent Friday night. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, our dinner at the Tavern, and all of the amenities the hotel has to offer. The staff was wonderful. Special thanks for the bartenders at the pool bar who stayed later than I'm sure they wanted to while we enjoyed happy hour. The staff was very accommodating, our rooms were neat and clean, and the location was ideal. There's so much to do in this area.
We have been hosting weekend workshops for years and have had great experiences with the attentive, pleasant staff, everything from scheduling the event, checking in during the event, and after wards. A big thank you to Ryan Griffen for always responding promptly and pleasantly and helping things run smoothly. We use a conference room from 9-6 on Saturdays and Sundays for a Getting Over Stage Fright workshop and have a continental breakfast available. Annie is especially attentive. The staff checks in frequently and pleasantly and the front desk is also very helpful and accommodating as well.
The hotel underwent an extensive renovation several years ago and is now part of the Best Western group. The largest suite--a bedroom with a king-size bed, walk-in closet, and sitting room with pull-out sofa suited my family of five just right. The only thing missing was a mini fridge but one soon arrived when I asked for one at the front desk. I will book family and friends into the hotel again.
This past weekend we had a family reunion at the Heritage House hotel? in Southbury?. I would like to commend your staff on their pleasantness, eagerness to please, and overall attentiveness. Upon arrival to our assigned? conference? room, the Jefferson Room, we were not thrilled with the lay out of the tables, or the colour of the table linen. Without blinking an eye, the conference staff rearranged the space to our liking, swapping out the linens and chairs until we were pleased. This pleasant attitude and accommodating spirit was reflected in every employee we interacted with, front desk, maintenance, engineering, etc! ?We were impressed with all aspects of our stay, the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, the ?well tended grounds but most especially with the staff! ?We will certainly recommend your facility to our friends.
I stayed at the hotel for one night coming through on business. It was a great decision! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well appointed. I did not have time to enjoy the spa but it looks lovely. I hope to return and experience a service. We had dinner which was tasty and even played trivia...so fun. You must try the s'mores skillet. So good! This is a great hotel for both business and leisure travelers. I highly recommend it!
WOW! What an incredibly beautiful, special day we had! Everything was perfect. From the beginning Jennifer G in catering could not have been more helpful, accommodating and responsive to me. She offered suggestions when I was unsure. Planning a wedding is very stressful but with Jennifer's help, reassurance and calm, easy manner it was a breeze. On the day of the wedding, Jennifer B made sure the day went smoothly and met all of my needs. She was never far away and took care of everything. To top it all off the food was DELICIOUS and the wait staff and bartenders worked hard to make sure everyone had what they needed. Several guests commented about how great the food was. The manager in The Tavern, I think his name is John, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we wanted. I also heard several, “Best, most fun wedding ever!” I would highly recommend having a wedding at the Heritage Hotel and working with Jennifer G and the rest of the staff.
We recently stayed two nights in a standard king room. Overall it's an average hotel, clean and comfortable. Pros: The rooms were clean and had the basics. The pools, spa and fitness center are very nice, and the location is good. Cons: The hotel is older and the rooms are a bit dated, the beds are hard, and the restaurant is expensive for average food. It's hard to recommend this hotel when the area has beautiful and quaint B&Bs, but if you need a hotel then you will find a clean and no frills stay at the Heritage.
I stayed at the Heritage Hotel over Memorial Day Weekend with a number of family members there to attend a graduation in nearby Washington, CT. Shortly after check in, the power went out, not once, but I believe 3 times. While not the fault of the hotel that the power went out for nearly 5 hours, those of us who had to find our way around the darkened hallways and stairwells had quite the experience. Clearly many of the Exit signs were not working as well as some of the emergency backup lighting throughout the hotel. While trying to navigate the pitch black stairwell to get to the second floor, I ran into a concrete wall, hitting my head, Ouch! That evening after the power had come back on, I asked the front desk clerk about breakfast the next morning. When I asked if it were complimentary, she seemed to think it would be for guests who had checked in before the hotel went dark. That turned out to not be the case the next morning. Then when I checked out about 6:30 AM the following day, I asked if there was any coffee available in the lobby and was told it is generally "brought up" about 7AM. Needless to say I had to be on my way, so left without so much as a cup of coffee.
I wanted to send a special thanks to the office manager Aylin Destan and the entire Heritage Hotel staff. On May 15th, our town of Southbury experienced a severe storm and tornado. I work from home full-time and found myself without both power and internet making working impossible. The Heritage Hotel, although impacted by the same storm, was running on a generator and was able to provide me a safe and welcoming temporary workspace during a very difficult time. As other have mentions, the Heritage Hotel was there for me and others in our community in our time of need. Please provide these good folks with your business and I will surely do so again. Thank you again!!
This is such a wonderful property for all types of travelers! Spacious rooms with great views, abundant amenities such as 2 pools, a spa and pool bar. Tavern is great for food and drinks. The staff make this property even better, Beth Benson the Front Office Manager, all the desk staff Aylin, Megan, Gian, Jill and Valmira. Ryan and John at the Tavern and Illianis at breakfast. Definitely worth a trip!
The hotel charged me for two extra nights without notifying me. It took multiple calls to resolve. They did not offer compensation for the billing error when requested. When asked if they also overcharged another guest for a second room which I prepaid, they assured me they did not. It turns out they did bill the other guest on their card as well. They also assured me that there's nothing they will do for the inconvenience of the mistake.
In an rather unprecedented weather incident on Tuesday afternoon, May 15th, Southbury, CT and the surrounding areas were hit with a now confirmed EF-1 Tornado. The damage to the surrounding communities is truly like nothing that we have seen - if ever. Widespread power outages and severe damage to many surrounding roads have made travel in and around town very tricky, if not impossible in some spots. In any case, I had two experiences this week which show the absolutely GREAT customer service this hotel showed to our community! When it mattered most, the Heritage Hotel opened its doors to those in need and did so without blinking an eye. As I work locally, I made a very unfortunate decision to leave my job right at 5 pm - just as this major storm hit. There was blinding rain, debris flying just about everywhere, huge trees falling into the Main Street, hail the size of golf balls, and winds upwards of 100 miles per hour. I pulled into a local parking lot to ride this out...thankfully I did. After it started to subside, I went to my Manager and coworker who never made it out of our building complex. We drove around and ultimately were able to make our way to the Heritage Hotel. Once there, with no power, we went to the Bar/Restaurant who had put out sandwiches and chips, and fruit for those of us who were stranded. The bar staff could not have been nicer and the hotel was ready and willing to accommodate us with a room. Fortunately, my husband was able to make his way to me, and we were able to get to our home about 1.5 miles away. Well, today, after 2 days of no power, I used the last bit of hot water in our hot water heaters tank to take a shower. With a wet head, I decided to go to the hotel to see if they would allow me to pay a daily rate to go to the Gym area/Ladies locker room to blow dry my hair. They were so very gracious and said that I did not need to pay anything - they would happily allow me to use their facilities - and told me come back if I needed a shower the next day. In a time of need, this hotel did the right thing for the local community and the kindness, and great customer service will not soon be forgotten. A+, A+ A+....please support this wonderful establishment! Thank you to Jennifer, and Beth!!
I have had many facials over the years, but this facial was a facial experience!! From aromatherapy, head, neck, shoulder, arm and hand massages, to an amazing foot massage, this is not your typical facial. Alexis was truly spectacular and crafted the facial superbly to meet my needs. Her light touch was soothing, and my face was truly glowing when I left. Thank you Alexis! You are a wonderful new addition to the Heritage Spa!
I chose this hotel for the indoor pool to treat my 9 year old grandson for a night out during his spring break. What a mistake!!! The health club members and male staff employee treated us like we were intruders, not guests. The pool and exercise area is really only for adults, kids are not welcomed at this hotel!
The facilities and staff exceeded my expectations! Plenty of parking & rooms, indoor & outdoor pools, hot tub, large gym with plenty of equipment options, spa, billiards, arcade, 2 restaurants, bar, vending machines, tourism info, corporate meeting rooms and plenty of lounge areas where you can have a private conversation. I stayed 2 nights recently (Wed/Thurs) as part of a large party. The hotel staff assigned us rooms near each other, making it easy to meet up. There were 3 weddings taking place on Friday night. Timberlands Restaurant which serves a great breakfast buffet until 10am was decorated for the wedding reception - it was beautiful - it's on a lower level so you can look down into the room. The French onion soup from The Tavern restaurant was delicious and it was delivered to the desk I worked from during the day, when I connected my laptop to their free WiFi access. General Manager, David Rijos noticed I was working from their lobby for a while, asked if I need anything and even stopped by later with a box of Cracker Jacks. The service at this hotel is amazing. Within walking distance, there is a Friendly's and local deli. Hotel is great for couples, families and the reception desk said pets are allowed for a $50 fee. I live in CT and I can easily see myself returning for a relaxing get away weekend.
snacks available via machines but not on all floors. soda and water available via machines. Rooms were well cleaned and comfortable. local area provided a family friendly restaurant adjacent to the parking lot and other shops as well.
So at least it was clean. Otherwise... The front desk was either befuddled or absent, the hallways smelled of must and regret, and the room had a sewage smell baked in that couldn't be removed even with an open window. The two stars are solely for cleanliness.
I've stayed here multiple times now for work trips and now I'm bringing my family. The location is very convenient to NYC and it's set in a very quiet and beautiful area with a river running between the resort and the golf course. With an indoor and outdoor pool with food and beverage service it's a great place to relax and let the kids have fun. The Tavern is the onsite bar that has a pool table and a real fireplace. Once it warms up the golf course looks like fun. It's really a great place for business and families.
Stayed for business trip. The hotel and rooms could use some updating and fresh paint. The lobby and bar were nice. When I tried to turn in the TV it didn't work, maintenance came up and it took about 5 minutes to fix.
Except that the details is where they lose me just a little bit. Overall nice place though. I stayed here 4 nights for a conference recently. I travel a lot for work and have to come to expect certain level of amenities & service perks. Here is my take on the good and the wish list: GOOD: Clean, comfortable overall & rooms. Quiet - I can't believe there were 200+ guests, I didn't see or hear any of them. Slept very well. Inviting, warm, cozy overall for such a big place. We were here in Winter, but the grounds look pretty amazing in nice weather. The main fitness center was very good. Like a small gym you would pay money for. Thumbs up. Staff overall seemed well trained, friendly, and warm. Dinner menu decent. And tavern is fun. Breakfast bar attendant got me gluten free toast every morning. She was great. The WISHLIST: Details! It's the details that make a huge difference to someone who travels away from home a lot. Coffee & Tea selection seemed oddly out of date. And it was put out and taken away at random times. It's so easy to get great selection of black teas. They had one. And it was stale. And then way too many herbal & decaf teas, which no one drinks. Haha. We want caffeine! It's very simple to please tea drinkers: Earl Grey, English Breakfast, plain Green. We also want it at every conference break. That's it. Nuff said. I wish breakfast was served every day, and in dining room with full menu with wait staff. I was kind of bummed to come down first morning with no coat on or wallet to find out I had to walk to Friendly's to get a hot breakfast. So I turned around and went up to my room and ordered room service. Not fun. They have the dining room, they have the food...it's really nice to be served breakfast and sit with other people (even strangers!) when you are away from home and on the job. I did the breakfast bar the other mornings, but the eggs were institutional tasting etc. And same comment on the tea - stale, one option. Our room needed towel hooks like crazy. Strange - not one to be had or seen in the entire bathroom. Huh? The rooms seem like an afterthought. The beds were comfy, but the flow of our room was just odd. Closet right next to bathroom pocket door; chair but no table, desk humorously small, huge space between door & room area that no one could use...just needs some re-thinking overall. Overall I would recommend this place. It's very inviting and approachable. Just wish they would smooth out the rough edges here and there and then I would give it 4 stars.
My sister and I drove from Westchester, NY. We wanted a last minute get away from Westchester and NYC. Stayed Friday afternoon to Saturday morning. We got facials and massage at the Spa on Friday afternoon. Afterwards, we hiked a bit in the area. Had dinner at The Tavern, we both had the delicious Veggie Sliders with yuka fries (must-try). John at The Tavern was very attentive and service was great. Saturday morning we ordered room service and then went to the indoor pool before check out! We'd like to come back with a couple more friends for a girls get away weekend.
This past weekend my family and I went to The Heritage Hotel, and we had a great experience. My husband and I drove from NY with our two kids (age 2 & 4). It was snowing outside, but was still a very short drive (only about 1.5 hours). We met up with my in-laws coming from CT so it was a perfect mid-way spot. Upon arrival, my kids had to explore the hotel (of course) - one of their favorite spots was the game room, complete with ping pong & air hockey! Shortly after checking into our room, I left the kids with my husband to go swim in the heated in-door pool (they were super excited), while I went directly to the Spa to get a much-needed massage. ?? My masseuse Tina was AMAZING. Afterwards, I met up with my kids, husband and in-laws at The Tavern Restaurant in the hotel. The food was great. The kids loved their mac-n-cheese, and we loved the nachos. ?? The restaurant staff was super friendly, (especially John). They even wrote the kids' initials on their chocolate chip cookies for dessert! (which were AMAZING, by the way). ?? After a long day, we were ready to head back to our room for the evening. We had an adjoining room with my in-laws, so after putting the kids to bed we were still able to hang out a bit, just us grown-ups. ?? The next day we went swimming again (Jacuzzi for the win) and then hit up Panera on our way out, before heading home. We can't wait for our next trip to The Heritage! Thanks for your hospitality!
I recently came to the Heritage for a business trip, and the entire experience was great. Absolutely great value for the low cost, with an easy commute from NY. The rooms were nice and clean, and the service was amazing. The Tavern had really delicious food and the conference rooms were beautiful. I really loved that the rooms had plenty of natural light and life (which is great, especially during long meetings). The convention services manager, Gary, was very accommodating and made everything a breeze. The Health Club had everything, and I took a great pilates class with Sue. An overall wonderful trip, there's something for everyone!
My meeting was held in the Alfred Weissman room. Very modern and Gary the convention services manager made everything really easy. The meeting was on Thursday and Friday and my family droive up from NYC and my parents met us from Hartford. We had dinner in the Tavern Friday night, played ping pong until almost 11:00. The next day we went swimming in the indoor pool and my wife got a massage. Overall it is a really close to NYC getaway and great bang for your buck family getaway.
We recently stayed over Presidents' Day weekend and loved the room and hotel. Pool was great and nice brunch. However, there were a group of about 45 pre teen girls with 4 chaperones on an overnight trip. The adults didn't watch the kids at all, and they ran wild through the hotel. The pool was out of control with them screaming and jumping. Manager on duty came and talked to chaperones, and they still didn't care! the kids were running around in the lobby and through the halls. They would tap on your door, giggle and run. This went on until about 1:30 am. My 6 year old couldn't fall asleep because of this! Plus the fact that it is unnerving to hear a tap at your door in the night. There was very little adult supervision. I complained when checking out, but was told sorry by the front desk clerk and she said how they got so many complaints regarding the group. Very disappointed in the hotel and how they handled the situation. They never even said here's a voucher for breakfast or a discount off your next stay. Rooms should of never been rented to all those kids with only four chaperones- Completely chaotic!
We stayed here for a Conference and it was ok. It seemed old. The rooms were clean enough although I did find long dark hairs on the bath mat and in the tub. The conference room was good. The food was ok—I think chicken was at every meal. And it was dry. We had to share the dining space with another group for two meals. That was just weird. And at one meal they ran out of one meat on the buffet which was replaced with ...yup, chicken. Like i said, it was ok but not impressed.
My company used this hotel to provide us accommodation for 6 months project and the experience was awful. Let me start of by saying that there's no fridge and no microwave. their supply is limited so you basically have to compete in order to get them. I have been using many hotels in the past and I've never encounter this issue. Another issue is the construction noise. it seems that during my six months staying they were doing construction. It is was a nightmare hearing all the banging all the time All in all, I will not recommend this hotel not even to my worst enemy
This is a nice hotel, one of the only options in the area. The walls in the hotel are paper thin and one can hear any and all noises. The room is a basic hotel room, with very small bathrooms. Rooms were clean, staff very friendly, food good.
Located on a beautiful property but severely outdated. I will say the beds are very comfortable and they've done their best to bandaid the place and it would take a huge wallet to update. Overall the stay was ok, food is okay, I will say the gym is top notch. I rarely get back to the east so I really have nothing to compare this to other than the Courtyard in Waterbury, I'd gladly stay at the Heritage over anything in Waterbury. This place is good for families as it's very quiet. Just not my cup of tea.
This is a nice large hotel a few miles from I-84, and there are no other lodging options in the area. The rooms are a good size, especially on the 3rd floor which has vaulted ceilings. Also, the views of the river and golf course are nice on the back side of the building. The lobby and gym/pool area are clean and impressive. I would recommend this hotel and will return in the future.
My sister and I spent a day and a half being pampered pre Christmas. We booked the Spa Bliss package which included a choice of 3 treatments at the well appointed spa onsite. The spa team is exceptional, from the pre booking questions with Kathy, predicting needs, personal attention from Khim and wonderful treatments from Shannon. We thoroughly enjoyed our spa time, then spent some time in the gym and returned to our rooms to complimentary wine and strawberries- delish! We left the hotel for dinner in Southbury and spent an enjoyable evening in front of the huge lobby fireplace swapping stories. Breakfast the next morning was included and again delicious, we dined after an early morning swim in the indoor saltwater pool and hot tub dip. We met up again with Khim at breakfast and she again made us feel like old friends, we loved our stay, will be back and highly recommend.
My sister and I had a fabulous spa break at the Heritage during my visit from Ireland. My facial, and manicure were just great and I felt totally relaxed. Many thanks to Khim and Shannon for thinking of everything and making it such a personalized and memorable experience. I cannot wait to return on my next visit to Connecticut.
My boyfriend and I spent two nights at the Heritage for a friend's wedding. After a long day, we went to get into bed and when I pulled back the sheets there was what can only be described as a bloody booger on the sheet. I called the front desk, they were less than thrilled at the 930pm phone call and made that pretty obvious on the phone. It took over an hour before the housekeeper responded to change the sheets. When she arrived she told me she had been given the incorrect room number. Other than that issue, the room was large enough and bathroom clean. No refrigerator in the room we booked. The amenities used for the wedding we attend were beautiful and the food was good. The bar onsite is quite pricey ($10 for a simple vodka and cranberry) the staff there was relatively friendly. If given the option to book here again, I think I would look elsewhere.
We had a large family gathering at the hotel to celebrate a 100th birthday. The hotel worked out perfectly for all ages. There was plenty to do for younger children, teens and the adults used the gym liberally. Our buffet breakfasts were excellent and the special dinner prepared for us was very, very good. Everyone loved it. There was some mix up with regard to the bar service in our party room but the hotel was able to satisfy our group in how it was handled. We loved the 3 wood burning fireplaces as it was an unusually cold weekend. There was a leak into our shower from the shower above and this was unfortunate as the rooms were nicely updated and the bed comfortable. For this reason alone our rating is not 5 star. Parents of older children thought it would be nice if their kids could have used the gym with them, especially younger teens. Rules seemed a bit inflexible.
