I checked in with my two children and was amazed as we entered the hotel - it was beautiful - check in was a breeze and the staff was courteous - I had purchased a gift certificate through a silent auction and was surprised when the host didn't offer a better room for an additional charge. The GC stated an ocean view room and at the time of reservation I was asked if I wanted a king or two queens.. I had looked up the property beforehand and it looked great. We once we entered the room it went down hill. The room was so basic and the view was of the side which even the kids said - the view is the best mom,.... I just didn't find the room welcoming, but the kids were excited so I just decided to go with it. We put away our things, and decided to go to the pool. Wow - the place was dead and dark and I felt like it had a spooky feeling. The resort it self just had a dead feeling - no one around and the pool really needs some extra lighting, especially on the shallow end. the kids still had fun, but it doesn't end here. We went back to our room and decided to go to the happy hour in the restaurant. Our server was lovely and so good with the kids but as soon as a few other tables were seated, we were forgotten. Took me 20 mins to get my bill. We went out of the hotel for a few hours and returned. My son wanted a warm milk so I tried to call room service.. we are all now in our pjs and the person on the phone tells me i have to come and pick it up - there were no robes or slippers in the room, so off we go - two kids in tow to get milk. get the milk only to come back to the elevator to see that it is now out of service - OMG - now I have to hike up stairs with milk and two kids. the kids fall fast asleep and the beds are comfy but for some reason the fridge or whatever it is - decides that it makes a loud noise, every hour on the hour ! the first time i heard it - i thought someone was breaking into our room. I dint sleep a wink. Overall I wouldst return to this resort and its too bad as it really does have alot of potential - crappy room - crappy pool and crappy sleep
Definitely would recommend , the hotel was clean and offered coupons to be used in restaurant or lounge for everyday of your stay as part of a for green project , which I enjoyed greatly , the staff are very friendly .
I arrived in Sooke, BC in the last week of Summer 2018. It was a part of a poorly planned trip, my first one to Canada. Cell phone service in the area was poor, it was getting late, I had to find a place to stay fast and seems like this was the only one with rooms available. I knew it was going to be a rip-off deal, so I decided to sacrifice, enjoy myself and brag about it later. It is a luxury place oriented toward rich travelers, but with a little planning and early booking the nightly rate can be reasonable enough to actually enjoy staying there. Be careful ordering deserts after late dinner in their restaurant, I ordered the Creme Posset and it was too heavy for me, I did not sleep well, nearby busy highway also did not help me in getting good night rest in my room.
The hotel looks impressive when driving up and looking around. Walking in is also impressive. But for us that was where it stopped! When we got to our room, we noticed a lot of housekeeping issues as far as cleaning etc. When we went down to get something to eat, I brought it up with the front desk and had to get toilet paper to take back to our room as there was less than a quarter on each of the rolls in the room. How wonderful is that to walk back to your room with toilet paper. The housekeeping issues were noted, and a discount applied to our room which I definately accepted. I just hope they get their housekeeping issues looked at. The actual room was nothing luxurious at all. Just a basic room. Nothing impressive about it and did not think it was worth the price! I did not want to pay for the hotel just the room thx. The restaurant was slow especially in the morning. We did have to laugh if this was the life of luxury. I appreciated their attention to the issues I brought up I just truly hope their housekeeping is better monitored. Would think twice before paying the cost for the room we had.
We stayed at this hotel for four nights for a wedding and were very well taken care of. The service was impeccable and the food at the West Coast Grill was fantastic! We had a waterfront view which was lovely. Would highly recommend!
This hotel is fantastic , with great dining, staff is very friendly and recommande a whale whatching tour that was fantastic, great service and good recommandation ... made this our favorate place while touring Vancouver island
Booked a stay at this hotel to visit friends in the area on a recent trip to the Island. Wish I had booked both nights here instead of one. I was not expecting such a beautiful hotel with such amazing views. Will definitely stay again and have recommended this hotel to several people already!
Very pleasent hotel/resort right by the water. Beautiful settings. Comfortable rooms and stylish bathrooms. Slow internet (you can pay for a premium connection). As in all hotels, the view from your room various greatly.
Surprise to see such Nice hotel in a location like Sooke. Room was clean with walk in double shower heads and toilet with door, everything in working order and the water view with big window. I can ask for more.Rrelax after a day of fishing or hiking in garden
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay at the Prestige. We were upgraded to an ocean view with a balcony at check in. The meals served in the dining room and sports bar were excellent!
We were here for 4 nights Stayed in room 202. Big beautiful deck, our room was a hospitality room so very large We overlooked the ocean Room service and restaurant was excellent No privacy walls between decks was odd but no one was on there deck when we were so it didn't effect us at all I feel it's a nice place for adults
The location of the hotel is next to water. If you're lucky enough to get a water view, it would be nice. My room's view is to a neighbour's property - just getting a glimpse of the water view. The exterior is pretty good. It has a Bentley outside, which it tries to give a luxury impression. The receptionist was pretty friendly, and explained the amenities and details of the hotel. My hotel room size was okay, but the cleanliness was so-so. You could see dust everywhere. Also, I prefer brightness, but there's not enough along corridors and some corners of the hotel.
Driving up to the hotel both my girlfriend and I said "wow" - between the location and the hotel Bentley sitting out front we thought we had just arrived at one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed at. But the hotel peaked at this external impression, and really did not live up to it once inside. There wasn't anything super wrong that warranted us to complain, but everything was just average. Think of this hotel like that kid in high-school or university that only did exactly what the assignment asked (but nothing more to go above and beyond to impress the teacher) and then expected an A, but only received a C as their grade... "C = The student demonstrates satisfactory performance in relation to expected learning outcomes for the course or subject and grade" (thank you Wikipedia). So the hotel passed, but as just average, a solid 6 out of 10 - especially if self-identifying as "premier collection". A few details: As I said, the location/external was great and it was fun to wander down to the harbour and watch fishermen feeding the seals. There was also a river otter catching fish beside the pier which was pretty cool. The service was pretty good, nothing overly friendly, but nothing negative either. But our room faced out towards the parking lot, so sitting out on our concrete patio overlooking more concrete was just weird. Also, the mini-fridge didn't really work so the beer we brought was drank sacrilegiously with ice (yes, I pulled it out to make sure it was turned on as cold as it would go). The fridge was shoved into the TV stand, which looked like it had not been cleaned for quite some time (I know this because I pulled it out when fiddling with the temperature). The shower curtain rod brackets were pretty gross, it had black substance that looked a bit like mold.
We spent one night in Sooke on a cycling journey on the island. The hotel is a little way from the village of Sooke, but in a beautiful waterfront setting. The hotel is well kept and our room was spacious and had a lovely view. We would stay here again.
The hotel is beautiful with access to fishing jetty from which you can see seals. The issue is that hotel staff is formally correct though doesnt understand true meaning of hospitality. There is an option not to have your room cleaned to reduce environmental impact, and as joint investment you receive a voucher for the bar/restaurant. What they dont tell you is that there are so many conditions that it is virtually impossible to use the voucher. This is misleading to put it mildly. Also it appears strange that the bar with simpler dishes is not allowed for children as the hotel doesnt mention this on booking sites and is targeting families
We are a cycling tour operator from Vancouver, BC and recently stayed at the hotel at the end of July with a group of 10 cyclists. Everyone loved their stay at the hotel. The staff were a delight to deal with, very helpful and friendly. Everything met our expectations and we will now be making the Prestige Ocean Front Resort our regular stopover for all our 2019 tour dates. Thanks to everyone at the hotel, Paul
We stayed in June, 2018. The hotel and grounds are absolutely beautiful. In addition, the spa and restaurant were among the best we have been too. The customer service at the hotel however, was lacking. Our mattress was visibly concave in the middle. After one night of both my husband and I sleeping on opposite edges of the mattress, we let the staff know. The girl at the front desk (O) appeared completely uninterested. She hastily scribbled something and let us know someone would be coming to look at the mattress. After a few hours no one had come so we went to the desk again and received the same response of her writing it down and saying someone would come. Finally we went down a third time and asked when someone would come. The Manager came up to our room and looked at the mattress. He asked us if we would like it swapped out, which we agreed to. There was absolutely no follow up from him. No one came to switch the mattress and no one called us to let us know what was going on. We spent another uncomfortable night before leaving. It's too bad that there appears to be a total lack of customer service as the location is peaceful and beautiful. We would stay again- under different management.
Beautiful hotel, great location, comfortable room. The hotel is right on the water. There were two weddings while we were there, one took place in a gazebo on the lawn. The price was reasonable. I would definitely stay there again.
I live in Victoria, and my boyfriend and I were looking for a quick romantic getaway- we booked for a Friday night and selected a King Ocean view room. I was swept away by the structure of the hotel- it has this New Orleans vibe with all the open balconies, it feels spacious and airy. The main lobby was just beautiful, and service prompt. I couldn't help but beeline for the terrace to check out the view of the courtyard, pier, marina and ocean before we even checked in! The room was as you'd expect from a high quality hotel. Clean, great bed, GORGEOUS bathroom with walk in shower, rain shower and good quality shampoo, conditioner and soap. We dined at the West Coast Grill and experienced fantastic service and food! I had lamb, the boyfriend had chicken and we were very satisfied. Oh and try the cheesecake, it was out of this world! For dining, I'd strongly recommend getting a reservation and asking for a window seat. One thing I'll say about breakfast- while the patio is enticing, it's COLD! The breeze comes right off the ocean even on the sunniest mornings. My food got cold very quickly while waiting for our server to return for condiments, and I think perhaps the service was a little better indoors where you can catch the server's attention if you need anything. But I am pretty picky when dining out since it's a treat. There's picture opportunities everywhere, the pier is such a romantic little stroll and you can cozy up next to the fireplaces in the courtyard. I loved watching a young couple go through their wedding rehearsal in the gazebo, and there was something wonderfully nostalgic about the gentle rocking chairs next to beautiful flowers on the terrace. There's always something to look at and appreciate. I didn't get the chance to try the fitness facilities since we had a full day hike planned the next day, and I didn't try the indoor pool on this occasion so can't comment. Overall I was totally thrilled and would go back anytime.
In the future, please find out how many guests are staying in a room and give them the right amount of towels cos 3 towels for 4 people is not right. We called the reception twice asking for 1 more towel, nobody came. Room was not vacuumed from 2nd day to check out (4th day)!!!! Not worth it for a 4 star hotel. Also, Microwave is $20 per day! What a rip off! There are better accommodations than this.
This place is amazing it has outside living rooms with gas fire tables facing the ocean ! Restaurant is awesome and the food services manager makes the experience top notch . Location was perfect we will for sure come back .
We loved this hotel. Our room, view and location were amazing. Sooke is a small town outside of Victoria so make sure you have transportation. I spent one day simply sitting on our balcony watching the tide. Great spot. We will be back
We stayed at the Sooke Presige Oceanfront Resort over the week-end. The hotel is elegant and classy. It has been built with quality as a priority. The beds are supportive and comfortable. The decor, inviting and relaxing. The soaker tub did the job of relieving my stress after a busy day and the coffee in the morning was great! We had a nourishing and delicious breakfast in the dining room as well. The staff are welcoming and helpful. We will be back!
Great location just by the bay and on a handy distance from Victoria (one hour drive aprox). Looks a bit classy and is very up to date as it's not very old at all. Great staff, nice rooms and good food on site if you choose to eat here. Breakfast outside overlooking the harbour is very nice in good weather. Downside is that noise travels very, very easy from the corridor to the room. The outside parking situation is also a bit troublesome since there isn't enough spaces there. You can hand over the keys to their valet service and they can arrange it for you if you choose.
Excellent service and lovely resort. We enjoyed our private balcony, which was an excellent spot for a night cap and morning coffee. The seals swimming in the harbor were quite a treat. Would definitely stay here again!
Amazing place. Somehow, our reservation got lost, but I had the confirmation email. The front desk staff were friendly and never made us feel worried. There was a wedding there that day, so we were worried that we wouldn't get a room. The front desk clerk was so wonderful. Upgraded us to an amazing oceanfront room with a balcony at no extra charge. Very professional and pleasant. Outstanding service. We had supper at the hotel restaurant which was delicious. Again great staff. In the morning, we visited the coffee bar for breakfast wraps. I had a latte and hubby had his americano. We are really picky about our coffee. It was fabulous. This hotel is the best. Great views. Great service. Beautiful, comfortable rooms. Highly recommend.
I stayed at prestige ocean front for four days during a conference and it is pretty amazing here. The hotel staff were fantastic and the hotel is really nice. The room was big and had a huge bathroom with the biggest bathtub I've been in. The most amazing thing though is the scenery around the hotel. Its simply stunning.
Had great food and service through spring and early summer....last two visits (exec chef gone) have been pretty bad....cannot return to spend the $$ to eat and come up with sloppy food and servive....eat at your own peril.
The property is both beautiful and luxurious. Depending on the reason for your visit it offers either formality or a casualness that makes it a perfect hotel for a range of guests. We enjoyed spotless housekeeping, attentive staff, great food and beverage offerings and a sense of hospitality that conveys that the ownership invests in genuinely supporting the staff's efforts to make things right. Conveniently located and marvelous views as well as the convenience of great restaurants that offer a variety of options make this a fantastic place. Consider the Prestige Oceanfront Resort rather than an other local hotel and especially over any short term rental or AirBn'B. Thank you to the Prestige group for providing us with a week's worth of happy memories and fantastic experiences.
The Prestige hotel has it all, beautiful scenery, gorgeous architecture, superb spa, large clean rooms, decent restaurant and pub and just a fantastic spot to be with your loved one(s). The hotel is only 40 minutes from Victoria and a great place rest up for or after an Island hike such as the West Coast Trail and Juan de Fuca Marine Trail. You will not be disappointed staying here.
Wonderful experience at a great hotel for a private event for about 100 enthusiasts! Wonderful service; excellent food; good value for money; great location and very very friendly service. We will be back for sure!
Have not stayed in a BW for quite a while. But booked this last minute for our 1 night in Sooke. Room was a good size, clean and bright. Huge plus that it had wood floors. Nice places to sit around property. Spoke is a special little gem of a place.
This is a beautiful hotel on the water with friendly staff and a fantastic restaurant. This was my second time as a guest. Lovely airy room with beautiful tall cedars outside my window (many rooms also have an ocean view) All the amenities you would expect for your room as well as a spa, restaurant and pub etc available. I am a stickler for cleanliness and friendliness - this was an easy 5 stars for both! Comfortable, quiet, airy and clean. Having stayed in the city of Victoria as well as at this gem in Sooke - skip staying in Victoria. The Prestige is still an easy drive into Victoria and the price is mid-range for a top-notch and very comfortable hotel. While decor is not something I usually rate, the decor was unique and inviting and decidedly coastal and contemporary, I enjoyed it. The Prestige is just steps away from Sooke's Whiffen Spit - a popular beach/stroll visible from the hotel. This would be a wonderful venue for a wedding, conference or retreat. The on-site restaurant "West Coast Grill"is highly recommended as well. (Order the "Steampot" - You won't regret it!) I have already contemplated returning here for my next solo get-away ... I will be back! What could be improved? Free wifi available but it was quite spotty or not working, paid wifi was also available.
We thought the cost of the double room was very reasonable for such a large complex offering so many services. Bonus was the dining which was well priced, decent portions, varied and tasty. That goes for both breakfast and dinner. On top of this and more importantly the service staff were busy but had time for a chat. Both our serving ladies were standout friendly and this was very much appreciated, many thanks.
Stayed at POR from 31 May to 5 June 2018. Excellent location and very nice hotel. The best Best Western I've ever stayed in. Right on the water with the Sooke public boat launch and wharf. Beautiful courtyard and two onsite restaurants. Plenty of parking. Rooms were spotless and hotel is close to downtown Sooke. Seen lots of seals right from the wharf. Close to walking trails about 10 minute drive from Sooke River Pothole Provincial Park. Boat and fishing charters next door. Rooms were clean and spacious and staff was very friendly and helpful. Great place to stay. Free wifi included in room fee. Nice indoor pool and hot tub.
Highly Recomended! Second visit to the Prestige in Sooke BC for 3 nights. Terrific atmosphere, very comfortable rooms, beautiful views, great food at the west coast grill on-site restaurant, great things to do right out of the hotel, kayaking, hiking being highlights. Looking forward to coming back.
We stayed one night but it was very pleasant. This would be a great location to host a staff retreat. The beds were comfortable ,staff super friendly & the restaurant in the hotel was very tasty . Free parking & wifi. I wish our stay could of been longer
Great Location. Nice place to stay. The staff are courteous. The internet was dodgy in the beginning but got ok the next day,. Will go back if going to sooke. No comments for the food as didnt try it. Overall a good experince
My husband bought me the Sports Package as a mother's day gift and it was amazing! I had Judy give me a deep tissue massage and it was incredible. I left totally relaxed and was very impressed by the outstanding service from all the staff. Thank you for giving me such a great experience.
Very well kept resort friendly people. price quoted for the conference was higher then could book on line by about $30. To get room service you have to pay more than $4 service fee and then 16% gratuity to tha already high food prices (normal for a Resort). Location location location Vanvouver Island in its'self is beautiful.
My Son celebrated his Wedding at the Prestige Hotel in Sooke on May 19.2018. Ceremony was performed in the Gazebo overlooking the water. The Gazebo can seat 150 people. IT WAS GORGEOUS! The Reception area was Beautiful and very functional. The Food was Fantastic. At 10:00 p,m, they had a Poutine Bar that was very popular and raved about. The Hotel rooms were very comfortable and we all had an Awesome time. We enjoyed the Pool and Hot tub and the Buffett. We booked a Fishing Charter and they even helped us print out our Fishing Licence. Great Job Sooke Prestige Hotel! We will be back!
This hotel has a classy and traditional look both inside and out, but it is fairly new and very up to date. It was quiet and relaxing. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant was good for both dinner and breakfast. We really enjoyed our waterfront room on the 2nd floor with a large private balcony overlooking the inlet. We had beautiful sunshine, and the view of the Olympic Mountains of Washington in the distance was pretty impressive. In fact, the setting reminded me of Alaska. I am really glad we chose to stay here. On our last visit to Vancouver Island, we stayed at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, and we much preferred this hotel.
We stayed here for two nights so we could do the entire Galloping Goose Trail. We were very pleased with the overall quality of this hotel. The peaceful, picturesque surroundings complimented the excellent service and room quality. The restaurant provided a reasonable menu of well-prepared food. A definite stop for anyone in the area.
Room was very nice with a ocean view, the pool was dirty and kids doing canon balls i the hot tub was not very relaxing. The restaurant was small portions for a high price. The outside patio area with fire places is amazing so relaxing. Customer service was very slow, check in was painfully slow we had to wait 10+ minutes for someone to even come to the front desk to check us in. Every time I called front desk to ask a question no one answered so we would have to walk all the way down to the desk to ask which was annoying. Over all it was a decent hotel for what you pay for and I would stay again, however they need to work on their customer service.
We stayed there for two nights. Really beautiful hotel and great views. Close to Sooke town so easy to get to shops if needed. Also close to some beautiful beaches. Staff were great and very helpful. Only thing was the towels provided were quite thin. Overall a good hotel.
Loved the location- we had a room with a balcony overlooking the harbour- could not be better! I was a little disappointed with the Go Green Program, which gives you a $10 coupon to use if you don't have housekeeping change sheets and towels- you have to use them at the restaurants in the hotel- which is ok I guess. We tried to use ours at the hotel dining room when we had breakfast on our last morning after a three day stay and were informed that they could only be used on the date issued, which I thought was kind of petty. A little irritating!
This is a beautiful property with friendly staff, wonderful food and beverage and large, well-equipped public spaces and guest rooms. The location fantastic and rates were reasonable. I highly recommend this property and will definitely return if I am in Sooke again.
A very nice hotel, pet friendly (but check by telephone first to confirm details!!), with nice views of Sooke Harbour. Easy amble down to the boat launch and docks. Restaurant food was very tasty though the service could have been snappier.
My wife and I travelled down Isle to enjoy a weekend in the royal city shopping and enjoying the horse and carriages, beautiful Victoria, BC. We decided to spend a night in Prestige Resorts which was fashioned after a vintage Hawaiian plantation and it was exceedingly romantic. Huge rooms with soaker tubs, an outside seating area with fire pits and ooo la la, a bottle of chilled wine whilest enjoying the Sooke Harbour and some fresh local seafood, wow, we'll be back. A gift from Mother Nature and King Neptune we say, Islander style...clink.
Beautiful hotel. Great location and nice view. We biked from Victoria and staff were very accommodating when we arrived and had a room to store our bikes. They were also truly pet friendly with cushions and bowls for our dogs. We also enjoyed hot tub, outdoor sitting area, and the clean, modern rooms. Definitely recommend this gem.
The room was very nice but missing things I would expect to find in a hotel. Before booking I specifically said I wanted to use the spa and the front desk person failed to mention it would be closed for the stat holiday on the day we were there. The concierge was a touch screen that wasn't in working order. The balcony which we paid extra for was not at all private. The room was nicely renovated but the hot and cold in the shower were reversed; that meant it couldn't be turned on to full pressure without being completely cold. There was a dirty cup in our room upon check in which really threw me off. The pool and hot tub were really nice but the jets weren't working. The overall look and feel of the hotel is very nice and relaxing. Some positive things are the towels and linens were much nicer than most hotels, and I really appreciated the free wifi access and mini fridge to keep our food in.
This is a beautiful hotel tucked away in nearby Sooke. We came for a little staycation and were so pleased to arrive at such a lovely place. The grounds are gorgeous, rooms clean and lovely. Staff were all excellent and helpful. The pool was clean and quiet and the small spa was a nice add on. Highly recommend for this area!
We loved this resort hotel. The room we were in had a fabulous view of the harbour but all areas had a great view. Mark in maintenance and Karen in the restaurant stood out but all staff were courteous .
The Prestige was terrific. Good location, very comfy rooms, nice staff. The room was quiet and perfect for our needs. Highly recommend it!! Sooke was delightful. Go there and see the water and the wildlife. The people are very friendly there too.
AI thought all was good with our stay, with two exceptions: 1) the pressure of the shower is quite low; and, 2) there are no towel racks in the bathroom, only a couple hooks. Therefore, makes it difficult for the towels to dry out in between uses.
My son and I had a little getaway from reality, we LOVED IT. Dinner was fabulous, the room was sooooo clean and spacious, staff was VERY friendly and helpful. Ammenties were perfect...Would love to stay again ??
I recently stayed at the Prestige Oceanfront Resort in Sooke on business. It is a very nice hotel located just back from the water. There is a public boat launch in front of the hotel, but it does not detract much from the experience. The lobby is wide open and inviting with lots of room to sit. There is a small pub and a restaurant onsite. However, the restaurant does not cater to the business traveler as it only opens for business at 7 AM. The rooms are large, and the bathroom slightly on the smaller side. The bed was extremely comfortable. My biggest complaint is that the water pressure coupled with the low flow fixtures was horrible. It took 2 to 2.5 times longer to shower in the morning as there was barely any water coming out of the showerhead. It took a very long time to rinse shampoo from your hair. I even struggled to get my toothbrush wet under the faucet in the sink, :). I will admit that if this was not the worst water pressure/flow issue if have ever encountered traveling the world, it is in the bottom three at least.
My wife and I stayed here for three nights in early February using a Groupon deal. Our room was ready for us, even though we were an hour early. Room 324 had a view of the inlet and any boat activity. The room was very clean, as was the bathroom and the separate toilet. A king-size bed, a couch, a wingback chair, desk, and 55'' TV ensured our comfort. The large glass shower with both a wall-mounted head and an overhead rain shower were very enjoyable. An interesting concept was a $10.00 per day coupon for not having maid service. The coupons could be used in the restaurant or in the bar for food purchases. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Parking was free and available outdoors or in the underground lot.
Friendly helpful staff. Very clean up to date premise. Location was a little difficult to get into however once you found the turn off it was easy to navigate the second turn in. I personally would recommend advance signage on the roadways.
My husband and I went to the Snow ball in January and it was a beautiful venue. We also took advantage of the discounted hotel rates. I have stayed at the prestige several times and I really like the hotel. It is beautiful. When looking at the front doors, the rooms on the right are nice but more natural colours, the view is ok. However you will over look the boat storage parking area for next door not as appealing. If you are staying for a more modern feel and nice views the rooms on the left main floor have high ceilings and a more modern décor with soft greys, Personally I like the views better on the left but depending on where you are along that wing you will see more of the grill. No so bad considering it is also a beautiful restaurant. The price goes up for the better room but I feel it is all reasonable.
A very large hotel built by the water, with expansive rooms for entertaining large parties. Rooms are large but a little tired - both the furnishings and the finishings. The hotel doesn't have any real flow between lobby and restaurants and the cafe area was closed for the time I was staying. Probably great for a large wedding in a beautiful spot by the water, but it lacks the ambience of place to want to stay as a couple or family.
My wife and I drove up from the Seattle area to spend a long weekend on Vancouver Island. The last time we were here (four years ago), we stayed in downtown Victoria (Marriott). On this occasion we decided to stay in a more secluded area and it was the best decision. Sooke is minutes away from coastal views, national parks and a myriad choice of forest trails for walking and biking while still being only 30 minutes away from all of the sights, amenties and activities of Victoria. The Prestige Oceanfront Resort proved to be the perfect respite from urban life while remaining close enough to plug back in for short visits. The hotel is beautifully appointed, impeccably clean and the staff was welcoming, cheery and helpful. My wife and I were especially fond of our large 3rd floor balcony overlooking the pier and boat launch. We are already making plans to return soon to take advantage of the opportunities that where not available to us during the off-season (chartered fishing, adventure hiking, kayaking, etc.) Thank you for a very memorable stay.
Excellent hotel and location with all the amenities. The staff were attentive to our needs and provided great customer service. This would be my first choice hotel when I come to Sooke. Very comfortable and relaxing stay.
The Prestige offered a Scallywag stay and play package for New Years. It was a pirate themed party which included dinner, party, overnight stay and brunch. I have stayed at the Prestigechotel in the past and it is a beautiful ocean front property. I put an invitation out to friends and 12 of us enjoyed a fantastic evening! I hope the Prestige offers another themed package again.
Have stayed in numerous Best Western hotels and Prestige Collection hotels in North America and England. This was our favourite Best Western. Also under the Prestige brand. We like the one in Nelson but again this is our favourite. Staff went above and beyond the call of duty
The prestige oceanfront resort is amazing, it's beautiful, the staff are great, the food is great and the rooms are great!! I highly recommend this place for any type of trip, excuse to get away, or the perfect wedding!
It was your basic nice hotel but our one night accommodation totalled $260 I understand that includes taxes but just saying... It was great we were allowed our dog in the room but booking a pet room just added $20 to the bill, there were no water or food dishes or a blanket for him. We stayed here along with several others that were attending a wedding in Sooke. Who knows, maybe we were given a special price.
Enjoyed our stay with family to celebrate NYE. Busy night so parking was a challenge. Staff are great in response to any needs. Location by the water in this waterfront village is amazing. Hidden gem in a quaint locale.
Scenery is indescribably beautiful. The value of what you get to what you pay is top notch. Great staff, food, and amenities. BW took an old Hawaiian plantation from the 1930's and plunked it on the unmatched beauty of the BC west coast. Perfect match.
As parents of the owners of 4-M Bobcat & Trucking Ltd. (a Sooke company) we were invited to participate in the annual Christmas celebration. The package included an exceptionally fine dinner, being waited on by several excellent servers in a private dining area and bedding down for the night in a great room (our particular suite was close to the water and overlooked Sooke Harbour. Twenty or so very contented customers for sure!
while visiting Victoria, found this place in Sooke, BC. It was about 30 minute drive (people drive slow :-( ). But this is a beautiful resort. The resort had tables with fireplaces outside and just great views. The restaurant food was excellent. Staff friendly and comfortable rooms. I had been to Victoria before and do not regret driving to stay here. Wish I had more days to stay and enjoy. Found out that most of the guests were from Victoria as I was not expecting local guests.
Enjoyable stay began with gorgeous walk through forest and boardwalk above marine tranquility and ended with soundless sleep after pool, hot tub and shower. A lovely invigorating break! Room a bit shabby but first time had a TV in bathroom to watch from soaker tub!
1st & final impression- Great! We were treated very well, enjoyed our stay very much, great meals in dinning room- breakfast & dinners enjoyed. Waterfront accommodation (best yummy beds) with morning coffee walks on dock viewing seals & all sorts of water fowl. Nestled in cozy secluded Bay. Lovely small community with friendly helpful folks. Great hikes & beaches to explore- all within short drive & hike! China Beach & of course the Jewel- Mystic Beach & others. Returning at dusk to hot tub & pool to unkink the muscles with hot showers in Pool area- great stuff! Marble tiles in our bathroom bit chilly , surprised no fan but with high ceilings & door opened & voila- demisted. Would definitely stay again. Thanks for our Group-on deal was affordable too! Group-on caution: markets one price then bills in US $. Thanks guys & gals! Happy 30th Will!
This was a beautiful, quiet, waterfront stay for us. We loved the hotel, our room, the food in the West Coast Grill, everything! The wet November weather was not a deterrent - we were still able to walk the Whiffen Spit nearby.
Amazing place, amazing people, wonderful nature - you combine it all together and you have a recipe for the happiness. If you never been in south tip of Vancouver island - go there. If you never been at resort from Prestige Resorts family - try one. You will never regret.
Great hotel, great location. Affordable especially for November. Delicious 5-star dinner and very attentive staff both in the restaurant and at the front desk. Have stayed here before and would recommend to anyone.
Great location with beautiful views of the bay and Marina. The rooms are very comfortable and clean with everything you would expect at a four star hotel. Very good restaurant and bar on site, recommend the fish tacos.
Local to the island so we decided to take a quick getaway out to Sooke. The hotel its self is very beautiful and has an amazing view. Looks like there were new renovations completed in recent and it shows! Very well done and makes the place beautiful. The rooms were great! We had a two queen bed with a view and it was amazing.I found the entire hotel to be very large (large doors, high ceilings) which made the room feel bigger and more spacious. We did find a used hand towel hanging in the back corner of the shower hiding behind the shower, not a big deal we just put in the corner, could see how that was missed during cleaning The Staff at the front desk and restaurants were great and attentive, made it feel very welcoming.Front desk staff checked us in quickly with no issues, As well the food was fantastic - limited selection than most restaurants but overall great food! Only thing I would say is cleaning service was not as daily as other hotels, we also had put the door tab out for maid service, and the room was still not cleaned. Overall a wonderful experience and would definitely go back!
This hotel is a real gem in the midst of a gorgeous part of the west coast. Clean and modern it was a real pleasure. A short drive from Victoria, is worth it to get away from the huddle and bustle. Bravo
We stayed for 2 nights and each day had Anita as our server in the West Coast Grille. She was so wonderful, kind, and personable. We shared lots of laughs! Makes such a difference when you have a visit with such wonderful staff. Thanks for everything!
We were staying with you for a small anniversary celebration in your banquet room. The meal was delicious, and staff was attentive and accommodating. As the weather was....west coast Fall, the covered drive at the hotel entry was a bonus! Our overall experience could not have been more enjoyable! Thank you for everything!
we booked an anniversary getaway weekend here and were not disappointed. from the beautiful room, complete with the kettle that we had requested in advance, to the 50% off happy hr in the restaurant both nights. we had a wonderful experience ! a special shout out to jessie in the restaurant ! you are very good at your job !! we will be back.
This property genuinely blue me away!! The rooms are super clean (except for the used coffee grounds in the coffee maker) and updated. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful!! I enjoyed every part of my stay Next time I want to stay for two nights instead of one!! Then I will be able to use to tub and watch TV at the same time
I booked a room at the Prestige Oceanfront Hotel in Sooke as I was attending a wedding there on the weekend. The facility is BEAUTIFUL and the location - GORGEOUS. We live an hour away and had no idea this facility existed....In addition to it's beauty, the hotel seems to have taken great care hiring friendly, efficient staff who really seem to want to make your stay comfortable. I will go back for sure!
We asked our host for a restaurant recommendation, where you can get local fish. We had a fantastic evening, with Canadian Wine, the best Fish & Chips we ever had and such a lovely waitress, Judy - hopefully I remember her name correctly. Thank you for an awesome evening, we'll come back in 2019!
This property is a truly a hidden gem with some aristocratic touch. We had amazing views of the ocean and mountains, very comfortable stay and great on budget. I do recommend their Sunday brunch buffet should you happen to stay over the weekend.
An excellent experience every time we come. This was an emotional visit for my wife and I as we had to put my Mother in at the Gorge Hospital from her home in Sooke. The view, staff and food are always a delight. Murdock in the Vault always goes out of his way to assist each member that walks in.
My second stay at this hotel - off season / shoulder rates are amazing, they are pet friendly, and the location is beautiful. I hope to return soon! My first stay was in the spring and this time fall - any time of year where camping is not an option. Both experiences were very enjoyable.
Very Very nice, clean, awesome location right on water. Very well cared for. The restaurant and fitness center are good. The outdoor environment is outstanding. Also Visit Wifffen spit and I recommend the Stone pipe restaurant in Sooke as well . Had a great meal there. -staff was timely and friendly and foods and presentation were great.
Husband and I booked a weekend getaway for our anniversary. Were quite looking forward to being here and left the property going "meh". Initial impressions driving in and even walking into the lobby were wow. Check in was quick - staff were professional and friendly. Then we left the lobby - mirrors hanging crookedly, dirty carpets in hallways. We were a bit surprised that there was a tray of dirty dishes outside our door and wondered if our room was even ready for us. Room at first glance looked quite nice - then we noticed how dirty the carpet was, the windowsills were dusty and overall the room seemed to have just the bare minimum done for cleaning. We had breakfast at the hotel the first morning - food was good, service was not what we would have expected at a hotel in the Prestige/Premier collection. We stayed 2 nights and for the duration of our stay - there was a food service tray under the TV hutch - we could see napkins and cutlery on it - don't know what else was on there - we didn't look - we did not order anything from room service so it wasn't ours. I did bring it to the attention of front desk staff when we checked out.
Hotel was not good in any areas. Food bad, Service So So , hallways dirty , room was okay. We lived in Sooke and were staying there while our house sold. Over all disappointed for the price we paid . There is a nice view however of the Sooke Basin. Sooke itself is a lovely place to visit :)
We keep using this hotel when we visit family. Great facility. Only complaint is the squeaky closet and room doors. Bar is good and food good, accommodates our "no carb" requirements. Staff are friendly and helpful. Barista attentive.
Dirty dishes outside rooms for over 20 hours. Room carpet was badley stained... gross!!! Front desk service was unsatisfactory, had to wait while two front desk staff helped one customer..... no acknowledgement or apology!
Awesome hotel...you won't be disappointed! Lovely, clean rooms, and hotel sits right on the water. Excellent restaurant too. Sooke is beautiful with plenty to do for people who like the outdoors.Victoria is only a 40 minute drive.
Booked a last minute over night trip here for some R&R had a massage at the spa enjoyed the pool, hot tub and the restaurant, the rooms are gorgeous and it's the perfect getaway close to home for me! I've stayed here a couple times now and everything is always great!
I have used this hotel on a number of occasions from, arranging for family friends to recommending for workshops. The atmosphere is excellent and the amenities are first class. Dining or simply having a drink with friends are all enhanced by this hotel. A wonderful bonus is the dock and boardwalk area . . . very atmospheric . .
This hotel is in Sooke, about 45 minutes drive to Victoria. Great location close to number of regional parks, beaches and hiking trails. Rooms are quite spacious, however, we found the beds very soft and uncomfortable. Staff is very pleasant and accommodating.
We are already planning a return trip to this beautiful setting and lovely luxurious place to stay. Very clean, quiet and staff excellent. Restaurant (West Coast Grill) very good as well and staff friendly and oh so nice.
Even if you only have time for lunch or a snack at the bar/lounge the first time you come you must drop in to the Prestige Best Western at Sooke. From the moment you enter the large lobby you know that this is a great place to stay, and right away you want to book some luxury away time! The rooms are extremely comfortable and quiet, the staff are ever helpful and the location is perfect. Close to the town of Sooke and minutes away from the wild west coast beaches. Both summer and winter stays are rewarding. We'll be back!
What a beautiful place to get away set against the most stunning West Coast backdrop. Calm, quiet and oh so romantic. Although we took in many surrounding sights, we really could have spent the entire time at the resort enjoying the variety of amenities. Ended the day with a glass of wine around one of the many outdoor gas fireplace seating areas overlooking the ocean and underneath the stars. Bed was oh so comfy and cozy. Morning buffet a perfect way to wrap up our romantic weekend away from our loud crazy life. Look forward to returning!
We arrived on Saturday evening for dinner. The dining room was fully booked but pleasantly quiet enough to talk. There was live entertainment which added to the ambiance. A singer/guitar player played long sets of agreeable music while we enjoyed a great meal. The green salad with quinoa (not my favourite ingredient ) was well dressed and fresh. We had crispy shrimp tacos, very fresh delicious and a seafood boil with gluten free bread, also fresh and tasty. Overall, the evening was a 10. They were able to come up with coconut milk for coffee. We will refer others to this spot with confidence. It's located on the waterfront in Sooke, BC near fabulous beaches and hiking trails.
Highly recommend this hotel!!! Stunning hotel and the staff go above and beyond. The view is breathtaking! Love the program to keep green, which pays you a $10 voucher to use in the restaurant or lounge!
great hotel, in a very scenic part of sooke. I loved it here, and will be back. The hotel room was great, with a beautiful view too. The restaurant on site was good, with good service. The room was clean and wifi actually worked! We've been to so many hotels where 'free wifi' actually meant 'no wifi'. Thanks!
The rooms are extravagant and the view is perfect! Pool and hot tub are basic, and the facilities could use a good deep cleaning. Front desk were efficient and accommodating with a late evening check-in and shortage of parking. Pleasant stay, although a bit pricey for what it is.
A beautiful building and great restaurant and some of the best staff we have encountered. Are definetly planning to come back. Really enjoyed our time there and plan on staying longer next time. A positive 10 in our book. Thanks Best Western Prestige Hotel.
We travelled with our dog and had a wonderful weekend at the hotel. The hotel staff we very helpful and contributed to the fantastic time that we had. The food at the restaurant and the lounge was great - staff were excellent! We enjoyed the new seating areas and propane firepits on the patio - a great way to spend a relaxing evening. We like to spend a considerable amount of time outdoors and travel with our dog as much as possible. This hotel is located close to some excellent trails and the reason we stayed here was because of a previous stay where we had an excellent time and the ability for us to bring our dog. The hotel is clean, well taken care of, the staff are fantastic and it is a great setting - couldn't ask for anything better.
On vacation we ran across this jewel. Last minute arrangements and were not sure what to expect. Wonderful value for our money. The restaurant was amazing and the staff so very helpful. Jesse and Karen really know how to make dinning great. New favorite and will return when we can.
We were a group of people that stayed at this hotel for a night on a tour we were participating in. From our check-in to check-out the staff was very friendly and helpful!! Restaurant and bar staff were very efficient and friendly. The views from the room were great and the rooms were spacious and comfortable.
Absolutely stunning hotel with excellent service and an amazing restaurant. Hotel staff very helpful with ideas on "what to do" in the area. Seaside location with great views. Pool and hot tub area clean and well maintained. Loved our stay there.
Very beautiful hotel, open spaces, grand ceilings and lovely waterfront location. Our room was not the best, right off the lobby turned out to be noisy and looking out to the neighboring driveway. Very disappointing, also the shower wouldn't engage all the way so the water trickled out if both the shower and bath faucet. Checked out the restaurant on site for breakfast but there were no vegan options so try it.
What a beautiful location! Outstanding hotel on the water with amazing views. The lobby is very lovely and offers touchscreen info tables to help guests learn about the area and things to do. The food and ambience was fantastic at both the restaurant and lounge. Staff was very helpful and kind. The outdoor fire tables were a lovely way to enjoy the evening. Jacuzzi is enjoyable. The beds are soft and comfortable. Rooms are roomy and nicely decorated. We plan to return and highly recommend this hotel.
My husband and I stayed 2 nights at this hotel last week and while the setting is superb, the front end staff (Danielle) was snooty, seemed 'put out' by us and her idea of customer service simply non-existent, rude and condescending at best. She did not explain their going green policy (we thought no clean towels or sheets -- instead their going green means NO MAID SERVICE (Danielle told me that MAYBE this should have been explained better to us and I replied that MOST definitely needed to be explained as we would have never agreed to it (and not for a $10 dollar voucher that Danielle had a difficult time honoring) and our room was left dirty, garbage can overflowing and no clean glasses or coffee, we paid almost $10 to get two coffees which should have come with the room...about the worst service we've received around the globe at over $200 per night -- the bed and breakfasts in the area have similar settings, lower prices and are soooo happy for your business -- stay far, far away from this hotel. I gave the voucher back to Danielle -- hubby had about enough when I explained her response and I trust she was happy to have this back as I should have had a chat with the manager. We will NEVER go back -- happily we found a beautiful B&B that left us longing to go back to this area again soon -- just not to this hotel!
My family and I stayed at the prestige for 3 nights to celebrate the marriage of my best friend. The ceremony and reception were very well handled by your staff and the experience was excellent from the perspective of the bridal party. Your event planner is lovely, and an excellent addition to the team. Unfortunately, we did not have the same experience with the front desk, coffee shop or restaurant. Many of the wedding guest were commenting on how unhelpful and rude the staff in these areas were. At the restaurant during breakfast my family and I stood for 6 minutes while 5 women behind the bar chatted, before we were seated. It was early morning and the restaurant was near empty. Once seated, we ordered 3 latte's that did not show up until well after we had eaten and were waiting to pay our bills. A wedding guest informed me that on the night previous, they actually walked out of the restaurant after waiting 1.5 hours for there food that had still not arrived. This was after having waited 20 minutes for a canned beverage. This would be understandable if the staff was seen busy and serving other patrons but unfortunately on every experience in the restaurant the staff was more often observed chatting and mingling with each other then they were serving. As someone who served for many years, I was shocked that there was not a manager coordinating these individuals and setting a higher expectation for customer experience. The front desk was rude - there is no other way to describe it and the coffee shop employees often just appeared annoyed that they were being asked to serve us. I understand that the hotel was busy this weekend, but this was a big day for two families and the approach of the staff should have been far different. The prestige markets itself as a high end establishment and the prices of the rooms are set to match that - but as someone who regularly stays with Fairmont and the Four Seasons, I was shocked at the attitude and approach of the staff. My mother in law has had cancer on many occasion's and as a result is unable to eat most food. She brings oatmeal with her, and required a microwave to eat in the room. The request to have the microwave was put in at the time of booking (even though we had rented a suite and in most other hotels this would already be in the room). When we arrived it was not in the room. We called down to the front desk on three occasions and each time were told quite abruptly "its on its way" with no other information as to what was causing such a delay. It didnt arrive. My father in law then went out and purchased one because my mother in law was starving. At 7pm on Thursday night someone finally called and asked to drop it off and only then informed us that they had to go out any buy one in order to accommodate her. The approach left her feeling guilty rather then supported. My father in law informed the front desk that we no longer needed it as we had gone out and purchased one of our own. When we checked out there was a $20 a day charge for a microwave. Not only was this a mistake as he had not used one, but having stayed in many reputable establishments, we have never been charged for this type of service. On top of that we have never been treated as such an "inconvenience" for requesting service to aid someone who requires it. It was horrible. The wedding day was perfect, and as I mentioned above, your event planner made it a seamless event. The catering was excellent and the bar staff did a good job serving a large crowd. However, even after all of that, our experience with your hotel was so negative that our family agreed we would not be staying with a prestige again. When you are paying $475 a night (which is more then I pay to stay in downtown Vancouver) the expectation is of far superior service then any of your guests received this weekend. It was running conversation amongst wedding guests - about the service they were receiving. When we came out on previous occasions to view the site, we had similar experiences in the restaurant as we did this weekend. As a result I can't believe that this is the first time you would have heard this feedback. I think its important that you know and are in receipt of this information to better serve future patrons but I can say with confidence that many of your guests this weekend, will not stay with prestige again.
Came here for the weekend to attend a wedding. We totally enjoyed our stay from the moment we walked into the big lobby area until we departed. The staff were wonderful, professional yet patient and helpful. We had a wheelchair accessible room and it was lovely, with a wonderfully large bathroom (with a tv attached to the wall!) and comfortable beds, including a pullout couch. The restaurant had a decent breakfast buffet with a better brunch buffet on Sunday. Food was always good. No major complaints.
I think we have covered everything, it was a great experience and we will recommend to others. There is really nothing that we can criticize, hopefully we will have the chance to visit again. We had visitors from the UK it was good for them to experience a good hotel on the island.
This was our second time to spend a week at this location to just relax and do as we pleased. we did some hiking - beach combing - site seeing - etc. Great variety of things to do on your own or within the community. very safe and welcoming place
Beautiful hotel in Sooke with reasonable rates, great facilities and a wonderful restaurant. I fish in the area every year and plan to return. This would be a wonderful hotel for couples, weddings, etc. Even though I am just a fisherman, the hotel is too good to pass up.
The is the second time we've stayed at this hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable. The beds were comfortable too. The hotel has a nice location and we enjoyed sitting in the outdoor patio area to read. Picked up take out coffee in the dining room. The dining room menu did not appeal to us so ate elsewhere. We had hoped to use the hot tub but someone must have slipped shampoo or soap into it. It was a bubble bath, so could not avail ourselves of it.
The management were excellent, went out of their way to help my brother with his motorcycle that didn't start in the morning. Took him to the Harley dealer and waited for him to get the part and returned to the hotel, no questions asked. The fire alarm went off early in the morning and the manager gave my brother and myself a free breakfast for our troubles. The pool was beautiful and clean, warm and I had it all to myself! The hot tub was great too. Would recommend this hotel.
We live in Victoria, but wanted a mini "staycation" for our 25th anniversary, so chose the Prestige for it's gorgeous location. On checkin to our suite (303), we found a welcome pack with a nice note about our anniversary- a great touch. The large deck overlooked the ocean and the courtyard, and if it had been a sunny day, the view would've been spectacular. We had dinner in the restaurant, and although we had reserved weeks ahead, were given a table in the centre instead of by the windows, a disappointment. No one actually arrived for those reserved tables, and they were eventually given to walk ins. Dinner itself was just OK, although the salad was wonderful, and more than ample for us to split. The room was clean and comfortable, and in spite of the A/C sounding like a freight train every time it started up, we were enjoying a great sleep until the fire alarm sounded, and kept screaming for most of an hour.... We were finally allowed to go back to our rooms, but I was surprised that they didn't offer some sort of small compensation to make up for a terrible sleep. Perhaps breakfast would've been a nice gesture? In any case, I would still recommend the Prestige to friends wanting a little getaway- just remember the ear plugs!
We wanted a nice place to stay, away from the helter-skelter of the Victoria area and found this gem. The prices were quite reasonable for the quality and location. Our room was fresh, modern, comfortable and CLEAN. The hotel provided with our rate, a $25 meal voucher which we applied to our breakfast buffet which was quite good. use the underground parking lot with direct access elevator. we will go back
With its impressive colonial style white and grey frontage the wow factor in finding this hotel in Sooke blew us away. room was large and well furnished and the bathroom had a private WC. Restaurant was below expectations, but the 3 cheese dip starter was excellent. The mains of Chicken supreme and steak did not live up to the standard of the starters. However we would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We stayed at this lovely hotel with family and friends as there was a family member's wedding was located in Sooke. The location was perfect and so relaxing. As it was we only enjoyed one day and night here but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We would have stayed longer if time had allowed. The bed was over the top in comfort and the food was extremely good.
The hotel is magnificent with it's tall white pillars standing impressively at the front entrance, making it look like a first class 5 star hotel. The all white wrap around balconies with wooden rocking chairs make it look Colonial and the view in the back is absolutely stunning, jaw dropping in fact. The red umbrellas and round seating cabanas with orange and red cushions and fireplace nestled in the middle. The beautiful flowers and bushes added to the lush greenery which made it the perfect place to lounge, relax and soak up some warm rays. The impressive white gazebo with white chairs and cascading white fabric from the ceiling was the perfect wedding spot. The gorgeous ocean view in the back ground along with the smell and air of the water added to the ambience. The hotel room is clean and modern with all the amenities - coffee machine, bar fridge, iron, hair dryer, desk space, wifi, and the shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and shower gel all had a lovely fragrance. They have a nice program where they will issue a $10 gift card to use in the restaurant if you don't need to get your room cleaned everyday, so that's a great incentive to keep your room clean. The bed was comfy with the 4 pillows and the air condition works well however the door and window that opens to the balcony has no bug screen so there is the occasional fly coming into the room. The view from the balcony is gorgeous, especially if you have the water front view but the parking lot view from the front is also very nice. A few cons is that the yellow office chair is quite hard with no lower back support so if you have a bad back like me then a cushion is needed. The shower curtain liner was smelly and it needs to be washed and there is no exhaust fan inside the separate toilet area so no air circulation there as the door to the toilet is high and has to be left open which is inconvenient especially if there is two people using the bathroom at the same time. Overall we enjoyed our trip and stay especially the hotel is so close to the dock where we could see cute harbour seals being fed by the fishermen occasionally. The jellyfish and the schools of little fish swimming together made our stay very enjoyable, something we don't get to see in Vancouver in our beaches.
This was our first trip to the Island and we didn't want to stay too far from Victoria but by the water somewhere. We booked through Hotels.ca the day before our stay for two nights. The lobby is amazing, the room was nice an clean. Just a few minor incidents that happened that did not give us the 4 Star feel. First thing was our first night we went down to the Restaurant, the person at the Restaurant was a little rude when we walked up to the stand to look at their menu - he asked us if it was just three of us and we told him we were just looking at the menu, the look he gave us was not nice and he just walked away without saying another word. We ended up eating at the Hotel Lounge instead. The second day we decided to go to the pool and hot tub. Once in the water we noticed they had only one towel. My husband ended up getting out and dressed to go ask for more towels before my daughter and I could get dressed. The women's dressing room was a bit untidy with dirt on the floor, the shower area and floor needed a good cleaning. After the pool we decided to give the Restaurant another try for dinner which ended up to be a good experience. After dinner we decided to go outside with our after dinner drinks and sit by the fire tables they have. Out of four tables only one had enough propane to start a fire. We ended inviting others as they came to sit and letting them know the other fire tables didn't work. We even let one of the staff members know and nothing was done. At 10 o'clock we were approached by two staff members telling us we had to put the fire out because they could not be on after 10 pm which was a disappointment to all as we were getting to know each other and having a good time talking.
Great hotel and location. Staff was great. Could have more parking. Mattresses could be harder for my liking. Overall, one of the best hotels we have stayed. Will certainly use them again when going to Sooke.
Great hotel , staff was very helpful in storing bikes. Good location . Short walk to town about 15 min. Both bar and restaurant where very good . Fire pits in the evening where a nice place to meet other guests of the hotel.
The hotel and lounge were just what we needed! This was a last minute stay for us and we it was perfect. The food was amazing at the lounge. I would recommend it to anyone. It was clean and all the staff were friendly. Can't wait to go again.
Nice hotel, nice location, on the bay, I wouldn't say the location is for action driven people, but if you come here to relax and take it easy for a couple of days, yes this is your place. It is a good 45-50 minutes to downtown Victoria on a slow driven road! Not much to do at night around the hotel, unless you like to dine in the hotel and go to sleep. The room is clean and comfortable!
We booked a regular double queen room, it was gorgeous! Ceilings are very high which makes the room feel bigger. Beds were very comfortable. There was a little bit of noise from the neighbors but we may have just had noisy neighbors, it wasn't enough to impact our stay or disrupt our sleep. We saw seals, jellyfish and crabs in the ocean, which made the trip even better! Pool and hot tub were nice, but the hot tub was shallow, still relaxing. I chose mid range for price of hotel because we got a VERY good price booking through a government employee website and I am unsure what the regular cost is.
I have to say it started bad. When my sister made the reservation for the 2 of us she was told there were no double queen rooms for the 1st night but they did have a king and would move us the second night if a double queen became available. Sounded fine! Upon opening the door to the room we were given keys to it was obvious it was a single queen, I love my sister but . . . It took 2 calls down to the front desk first one she was told there was nothing else available but they would get back to us, never did! Second call she was asked what her confirmation specified (didn't specify bed size) and to bring it down to the front desk. We did. Once Jacob saw the reservation the tone completely changed and he quickly found a a double queen but we would have to wait 1hr for it to be cleaned. No problem, we went to the lounge met Bernard the bartender who poured us 2 lovely martinis and gave us directions to what turned out to be a beautiful wee hike. Awesome! Once our room was ready Jacob brought the keys to the lounge for us and up we went. We opened the door of 201 to what I believe was probably the nicest room in the hotel. Stunning view, deck & 2 beds! Amazing! Thank you to all for what turned out to be an unforgettable weekend.
Amazing stay, would highly recommend and will be back in future. Please update Shaw TV service and remotes so you are able to offer guests the interactive guide function. Other then that, 10/10. Best hotel/resort in Sooke hands down.
Everything was perfect! This place is beautiful! My entire family loved it. No complaints at all..the only small inconvenience was that there were no microwaves in the rooms but the lovely front desk lady popped out popcorn for us.
Lovely room, excellent bed. Relaxing location. Front reception staff could have been more welcoming but overall a good experience. I would recommend this hotel. Very long wait for food at restaurant, but food was good when it arrived.
Truly one of the best hotels I've stayed in anywhere. Beautiful ocean view, modern spacious rooms, shower with 2 different shower heads and 2 TVs. They did not skimp on light fixtures and even the door knobs and bathroom fan were unique. Beautiful garden (see picture).
Whether you're stopping in for lunch, staying for a wedding, or just looking for a getaway. This hotel is stunning! What a beautiful waterfront view. Nice walk on Whiffin Spit nearby as well. Love the area.
I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel - for being in a smaller, sleepy-ish town. The staff were great, good food at the restaurant, great location and views. Excellent value for the price in my opinion. The wifi was quite slow, my only complaint. But Sooke is pretty far from any major city infrastructure so I wasn't too upset about it.
My wife and I come 3times a yr for great salmon fishing with a beautiful view and wonderful place to stay and great food. The staff are great and rooms are great. Get. Room with a balcony overlooking the bay. What a view
I gave it 3 stars because the room was spacious and the housekeeping was pretty good. Customer service at the front desk was appalling. We had a couple of issues, and rather than extend good customer service, we were left feeling we were the problem. The noise at night was incredibly loud. The corridors were long and narrow and it seemed to amplify the sound so that it felt as though the people in the hall were in the room with us. There were intermittent spurts of noise as people went to their rooms calling out to each other as they went down the hall. That made for two very poor night's sleeps, as we'd be startled awake by each new episode. The outside noise was an issue also. People yelling, fighting etc. There is a public marina right next door. To the noise issue, the reply was "did you ever think of calling us at 3 in the morning?" No use explaining that it was intermittent. By the time someone would have come up they would have been safely behind closed doors. When we registered, They extended a 10.00 coupon for the restaurant or lounge if we would forego housekeeping. On a two night stay that was not an issue. We also had a 25.00 coupon to use at the restaurant. We told them we were going there for supper the next night and would use our coupons then. The next night we found out we could not use the cousins together and since we were leaving the next day would not be able to use the 10.00 one. When we took our issue to the front desk we were told we should have read the fine print. Why didn't the desk clerk from the night before make us aware when we mentioned how we would use them. We might have used it for breakfast but had no desire to go back to the restaurant, Big prices. Poor value. My steak was tough. The internet kept reverting back to Shaw Open every time I closed my iPad. It didn't retain the memory of the hotel's site. We would never go back, nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone. We were very disappointed.
We stayed with relatives in Coquitlam who organised a weekend for our family of four here (Daughter 12yrs, son 9yrs). Not having viewed the hotel beforehand we were pleasantly surprised on arrival. A grand entrance and right on the waters edge. Very clean, well decorated, spacious rooms and great views. Little pool that kept the kids entertained while we relaxed in the hot tub. Well equipped gym too. Most importantly all staff were extremely polite and accommodating particularly in the main restaurant. Jessie 'was the cherry on the cake'. Had the patience to chat with us at dinner and advise of some beaches to visit as well as handling a slight mishap with our order very professionally. Thank you. Located a stones throw away from the Sooke pot holes which has some of the best views and natural features i have ever seen!
close to Juan de Fuca trail heads, great view from the restaurant and grounds, enjoyable outdoor area with gas fires,There were lots of spots to enjoy the view and the dock was well attended by harbour seals. pool and hot tub were okay but not great. comfortable restaurant with slow, but attentive service.
What a beautiful location for a sunny afternoon! We arrived for happy hour, half price appetizers were a treat. Cider was an agreeable regular price at $6 a bottle for Strongbow or Growers. The view from the outdoor patio was excellent, watching the harbour. Service was fine and staff pleasant.
Pros - lovely views out over water, rooms were spacious and bathrooms were nice. Gas fires in seating area are very helpful Cons - don't accept rooms between x07 and x09 e.g. 307- 309 as hotel has noisy ice machines by elevators and you can hear them during the night Parking - is terrible - I was told to park under building but that was full - they seem to have way too few parking spots or allow staff to park there - either way don't expect an easy park if you arrive late Some staff are great e.g. Breakfast crew but dinner team are a disaster - forgot orders, cold fries, won't deliver food down to seating area downstairs ( just bizarre), coffee bar has most unhelpful girl serving Vault bar has most helpful staff and most suitable menu for kids but minors not allowed in and food not allowed to be delivered elsewhere To give an example - we ask for two rooms together - they tell us they are then we get to the rooms and they are not only not together but either side of the elevator with one room in between We mention the noisy ice machine and are told - "yeah that sometimes makes a noise" Restaurant has some really odd staff on in the evenings Views are great but half of back lot is setup for weddings and chairs are all set to where you look over the vans dropping off heir boats The hotel has some very good aspects but seems weak on the small details and no obvious leadership making problems go away Would I stay again - probably not - if your after a really special stay somewhere they has to be better What's annoying is most of the above is fixable
Excellent customer service provided by the staff. Great location and beautiful ocean view! Prestige Inn is located in Sooke, a couple of minutes away from town centre close to all amenities and shopping. Hotel offers good food, exercise room, and smaller swimming pool. I would definitely plan to stay there at my next visit of beautiful Sooke!
Excellent hotel, service, staff nothing to much trouble. Had an awesome stay and experience. Weather perfect, reasonable Pool and hot tub opened up onto patio. Nice comfortable patio seating area with gas fire pits for cooler evenings.
Loved our stay! The resort is on a small footprint but the front outdoor area is lovely to relax in any time of the day. Restaurant food is great and staff friendly. Location is perfect for seeing sights around the area.
When you first see this hotel, you cannot believe you are in Sooke BC and not in some exotic location half way around the world. The architecture reminds me of what I would expect possibly on a plantation in the southern US. With family living in Sooke, we have driven past this hotel on many occasions but had a reason recently to stay overnight on the island. Sooke is a short drive from Victoria, BC and is fast becoming a tourist destination for many. An opportunity to stay the night here was an easy decision for a chance to experience the grandeur of the property. We stayed on the top floor with a king bed and ocean view. As an early riser, I was able to capture some beautiful photos of the harbour during sunrise. The room looked newly decorated with high ceilings and modern furniture. The front desk service was friendly and efficient and the main floor houses a restaurant with upscale dining and a pub specializing in local beers and more casual dining selections. We chose the pub and had local beers, chicken wings and the beast burger which was a beef patty topped with shredded sirloin and bacon. In the past we have dined in the main dining room as well and found the menu in keeping with our expectations of this exclusive property. We enjoyed this property so much that it will be one of our favourite destinations for future staycations. Highly recommended.
Been here many times and this time we didn't book view room and due to weddings we were restricted to using part of the hotel that has views outside. Also, housekeeping staff this time, less than good.
Great hotel, situated overlooking sooke harbour, friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant for dinner was however underwhelming although breakfast was very good. A short walk down road to Wild Mountain Restaurant... best food we had on the Island.
This was such a beautiful and elegant hotel. Staff were great, everything was clean, house keeping and room service from the redtaurant was excellent. The only complaint I had was that the hotel was run over during a huge wedding, and the kids broke the only elevator.
This is my first time travelling to Sooke, i was skeptical about the hotel because of such a low price they offered for rooms that seems to be very nicely decorated and modern! I guess this hotel really offers the value for the money! We got a very nice room with an ocean view, bathroom is huge with double shower! It looks like this hotel must be recently renovated and the interior decor looks very modern! The location of the hotel maybe one of the reason for it's low price, the location of the hotel is about one hour away from Victoria downtown. The drive during summer is really manageable and pleasant! i'm looking forward to come back!
wonderful place to spend a long or short vacation! Nice view. Great staff. Beautiful hotel. Court yard was inviting & comfortable. They could provide free coffe to guests instead of having to purchase each cup but other than that it was a very nice place to stay
My wife and I had our wedding at the hotel this past weekend and everything to do with the wedding venue, decor, food, service etc was excellent. Nichola and her team as well as Dan in the restaurant and his team did a fantastic job for everything to do with our big day! Whether it was Nichola's night manager Jacob getting my wife a sandwich at 12:30 on our wedding day because she was hungry or Nichola finding myself and the groomsmen a clean room for us to get ready in they all did a great job. However the check-in staff was terrible many of our guests rooms were not ready around 3pm when they tried to check-in it took Nichola to suggest moving guests to other rooms so that our guests could get ready for our 4pm wedding. If people booking for a wedding can't check-in an hour early to get ready then you should not offer 4pm weddings you should require it be at 5pm. Or knowing 20+ rooms will be needed for a wedding book everyone on one floor and make sure that floor is the first to be cleaned. Again Nichola/Jacob/Dan saved this review. Excellent wedding venue but Poorly run hotel.
The stay was lovely. Would have liked a water view room though. Other than that, it was all top notch. The breakfast menu was wonderful and eating on the terrace was memorable. The front desk staff go above and beyond to be helpful.
I experienced a problem with noise at the hotel and was basically told if I had booked directly and not via a third party the room allocated would not have been noisy . There was a stupid system for ordering drinks on the terrace. When we finally did order the barman did not know how to make the drinks advertised.
We've stayed at this hotel a number of times and were always pleased and satisfied. Rooms are very large, some with balconies facing the ocean. The architecture and decor are stunning. Ambience is very appealing.
Staff full of smiles ,great location , and a perfect getaway with so much to explore in the area. Beaches ,patios, and lots of trails for hiking. Can't wait to return to this location for another vacation. Ask for an ocean view room with a deck and you will not be disappointed. :)
We stayed at Prestige Oceanfront Resort for three nights in July. We had a room with two queen beds and no balcony on the third floor. Check-in was efficient and we found that the front desk staff was quite helpful. There was ample parking close to the entrance. I noticed that elevators were out of service twice while we were at the hotel, but this was remedied quickly. We didn't use the pool but we did take a look at it. it's an indoor pool and it's fairly small. You have to access it by walking through a large and chilly lobby that adjoins a series of meeting rooms - which would be weird if there were meetings going on. We found the room very satisfactory. Beds were comfortable, TV worked fine, bathroom was reasonably appointed (although the cheap water diverter in the tub made for loud showers - sort of unfortunate). The A/C unit was quite loud and very close to our bed. There were no drapes - just black-out blinds and a second set of "privacy" blinds that admitted light. We noticed that the large and very sterile balconies adjoining other rooms were directly in our line of sight, making them very "un-private". We never saw anyone on them. We chose the "no housekeeping service" option which gave us two $10.00 coupons for use at the restaurant, so I can't comment on housekeeping. As a facility, this place resembles some other resorts I have visited, with a large lobby, good views, and a range of room styles. On the other hand, it lacks some attributes including a convenience store and any real choices for dining - especially if you have children. While there is a restaurant and a bar, children are not allowed in the bar, leaving you with the fairly pricey restaurant as the only family option. We ate at the restaurant, called the "West Coast Grill" on one occasion. I will review it separately, but it was very good. We had a pretty good room rate for our stay, which was the main reason for choosing this hotel. I could imagine staying here again, but I wouldn't take children there again. I don't think it's particularly geared to kids.
Had a very nice overnight stay in Sooke at the Prestige Oceanfront hotel. Reservations were made less than week in advance so we did not get a discounted room, but room was well worth full price. Room had a very large balcony, with an awesome water view. The view alone was worth the price, and the weather was nice, very enjoyable just to soak in the view. The room itself was nice, comfortable beds, and everything quite clean, although there was a bit of a musty odor in the bath, which was mainly noticeable only in that room - to be fair it didn't bother us enough to ask. Had a glass of wine in the lobby bar, very friendly service there. Had a very tasty meal at the hotel restaurant, we did make reservations and it was a busy, but not noisy spot, maybe a local favorite. Good food and friendly service. There was a wedding party at the hotel and there was a bit of party next door, which got a little noisy about 1:30 am, noise stopped after a quick call to front desk. Overall a very pleasant stay, Sooke is a very nice destination.
An excellent restaraunt, the new menu is amazing and delicious. The staff were so accommodating and eager to please. Service was top notch. After supper we strolled around the grounds and it truly is a beautiful place.
Spent two nights at this resort - attending our nephew's wedding. All arrangements were made through the resort - ceremony, reception, banquet & dance. A real 'nice touch' was little memos in areas of the resort (elevators, eg) which identified the couple who were having their wedding there. Very well kept facility - nice pool & hottub. Would recommend as a place to spend some time
Awesome, friendly helpful staff. Beautiful views and great ammenities. Perfect location with great access. We stay every year with cycling friends and the staff go out of their way to try to make our stay as comfortable as possible, we will be back.
Great staff and facilities. We've stayed there at least 4 times and have enjoyed every room that we had. Beds a bit soft for us but nice room and beautiful views. Very close to "Wild Mountain" Restaurant in Sooke - fantastic place for dinner.
Absolutely Gorgeous!!! From the amazing restaurant to the fire pits, to the dock and the views!! The hotel staff were all amazing sooooo worth it!!!! Was not to far from victoria either!! The hotel staff even made some dinner for us when we checked in late to help my kids out!!
What a nice treat to my West Coast Posting to the Coast Guard while I was awaiting my furniture to arrive from Calgary. Staff were pleasant, the hotel looked like a world class resort, and the view? Not a million dollar view but a Billion dollar view from the rooms and open courtyard area. WOW!
We have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Prestige Oceanfront Resort. The entrance to the hotel is stunning, overlooking the water. Our room was small, but clean, and we had everything that we needed. I loved the location, far enough from Victoria to not feel like you're in a big city, but close enough if you wanted to do a day trip.
We had a couple of nights here again with a room that overlooked the 'harbour'. The staff were excellent and the hotel really a nice place to relax. We also really enjoyed the spa/hot tub. A very pleasant stay in the hotel spoiled by a meal in the restaurant yet again.
Renting an ocean front room now to spend a couple days Fishing with my wife. I expected much better quality for the rooms based on $300 a night and they sure don't match the class of the rest of the building. Our room had furniture that was broken and looked like it came from Ikea's bargain area . It was dusty and poorly accented . The cheapest furnishings I've seen. The Bed was Adequate . Piles of old dishes and half eaten food left at our door when we checked in and still there . The front patio was bare except for a couple cheap chairs and really could have used some flowers or something to add some class. Seems you don't see any sun on your balcony unless your on the corner units . Bathrooms are small but clean. We usually stay at nice hotels on Holidays but I clearly feel disappointed in the value received. I would not recommend this place for the money it costs.
An amazing resort in a smaller community. Staff very friendly and helpful. The facilities are very nice, well kept, and very clean. Standard king room had couch and desk and was comfortable. Good restaurant on premises. Make a reservation as it was very busy on the Friday night. On-line reviews for 2016 had made us apprehensive about dining here, but they must have made significant staff and menu changes for 2017 as the food and service were great, both for dinner and breakfast.
Great experience overall. The staff is fantastic and it's always nice to have access to a spa. The food is th best restaurant in th area. Can't beat the view overlooking the bay. Highly recommend this hotel
The Resort staff are second to none, especially Robin. He not only remembered my name but he made sure he acknowledged me when I was in another area of the Resort. The Prestige will be my first choice when I return to Victoria and I will bring my wife.
Hotel is very pleasing to eye when first sighted. Well kept grounds, open courtyard with multiple areas for intimate group sitting with firepits. Nice wedding venue with great water views. We had the handicap suite which although roomy enough for wheel chair access to toilet and basin, there was only a bath tub. Dinner of supposed short ribs was more like a piece of roast beef cut into small rectangles. Not worth $25.
Elegant Hotel situated in a quiet beautiful location in Sooke, BC. Surrounding scenic views of ocean, pier, and gorgeous property well maintained. Rooms are spotlessly clean and well appointed for comfort and style. On site lounge, restaurant, pool/spa, and gazebo for your enjoyment. Attached pier for all you boaters or wanna bees. close to all town amenities, one could actually walk if ambitious or just a short jaunt in the car. Daily happy hour offerings, weekend live music, and fabulous food this resort is truly west coast but stately at the same time.Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Whether your stay is for RR or fishing this Ocean front resort will not disappoint you.
Scenic location overlooking Sooke bay, can walk on a pier. Very close to Whiffin Spit which is hidden treasure. Very impressed with restaurant service & food selection. Nice indoor pool too! Just on outskirts of Sooke. Staff was very friendly.
Great food, views and place to stay outside of Victoria on Vanc. Island. It's only 50 min drive to Victoria. It is cheaper, quit and better value, than a hotel in Victoria. 1 - 1 1/2 hour to the lower end Wine Country at Duncan. 70 min to China Beach, Juan De Fuca. The only negative was that I was sold Ocean View Room w Balcony, but in order to see the Ocean, I had to climb on the edge of the window. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars .
I travel around the world for a living & live in hotels. This facility is one of the very best. Class act staff, views, quiet retreat location, fully serviced, great food & beverage selection including craft beers. Spa, pool & fitness facilities are all very good. Rooms are large & quality beds for a great night sleep. I now go out of my way to use this hotel even for my rest days off & special occasions. It's a true Gem and best value for money on the entire west coast.
We found this on the Best Western website. It was truly a special experience. The accommodations were excellent! The food was very good. We had a very good time. We will return! I would highly recommend this resort!
We stayed the night for a wedding and it was beautiful and dreamy. It blew my expectations out of the water! The food was amazing, the views where breath taking and the hotel service was excellent! Would love to spend another night at this resort!
This is a fabulous hotel stayed 6 nights , the staff are great nothing to much trouble first class surroundings, rooms are superb too, just feels elegant i would stay again without a doubt fantastic , there is a sports bar to the left of the foyer a guy called Robin Murdock manages it AKA MURDOCK what a guy very chatty made us laugh, he made our stay so much more special , thanks Mr Murdock your a star buddy , if you have never been try it you will not be disapointed, once again thankyou Murdock for all your help your a nice guy .
You're in Sooke but you'd swear it was a southern plantation. Everything's spotlessly white. Staff is thorough and helpful. Rather than strictly an overnight stay, it's the kind of place in which you'd like to linger.
We have stays at the Prestige in Spoke before. As always, the location, staff and the West Coast Grill NEVER disappoint! We had a lovely view of the harbor this time. Our balcony offered fresh sea air and sunshine. We especially appreciate the environmental consciousness of this Hotel and the incentives offered to encourage other guests to be so also. The meals we had at the West Coast Grill were delicious, healthy and fresh; the food presentation top notch and truly a work of art! My husband and I will be returning in July for another weeks stay. Sooke is a beautiful spot on this earth and Prestige Hotel welcomes you to it.
Without a doubt the best hotel to stay in when visiting Sooke British Columbia, (Vancouver Island), very close to all amenities, walking distance to the world renowned Sooke Harbour House, the whiffen spit is a beautiful walk...close to other restaurants and the beautiful Ed McGregor Park
I would give a 5 out of 5 for the place and setting and the great service. I felt like we where in in tropical plantation place I loved it. I would recommend this resort to my friend for sure it is a wonderful place to stay.
Amazing property that definitely has a "wow" factor as soon as you drive up. We had a room with a King bed and ocean view balcony. Everything was clean and comfortable. The free WIFI isn't fast enough for streaming but we upgraded and got the premium and had no issues. Room service and dining at West Coast Grill was phenomenal - probably the best food we ate on our 4 day trip.
We spent the weekend at the Prestige in Sooke. The hotel is beautiful! Plantation Style decor. Huge rooms. Beautiful view. My only complaint was the shower head was awful. The pool and hot tub where very nice. The staff where all pleasant to deal with.
Great hotel with a distinct colonial feeling. The rooms are excellent, though sometimes difficult to find, depending on the time of night! Location is perfect for sight seeing with amenities for fishing or whale watching within 3-4 minutes drive. We spent a good amount time soaking up the the local atmosphere with our host in the "Vault" bar, Murdock, highly recommend.
Very user friendly hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Quiet location with little traffic. Beautiful view of the harbour. Good fishing. Would recommend to anyone. Staff goes out of their way to help and make your stay very good.
During our wedding anniversary trip to Victoria BC we stayed at this really first rate well appointed Hotel. The room we stayed in was large and comfortable.A nice restaurant as well as a lounge in the hotel lobby means you did not have to go far for a meal or adult refreshment. The lobby reminded me of some of the grand hotels of the American northeast coast.
I was so impressed with staff, well appointed and spotless clean room and amazing view. We really enjoyed the swimming pool and the fitness centre. The quality of food and service in the restaurant was exceptional. We will definitely go back!!!!
Beautiful setting but the restaurant did not meet our expectations. One of those restaurants where you have to hunt down the waitress to get coffee. Restaurant was not busy when we were there so not sure why the service was so bad. Waitress was very nice but didn't check in with us once food was served either so we had to go looking for her when we needed water, more coffee, juice etc. Also, all but one of our poached egg breakfast were very over cooked. Beautiful setting but we were not impressed with the restaurant service (food was ok).
Had not been back to Victoria for 33 years. Prestige did not disappoint. Comfy, clean and quiet. Awesome view of the bay. Great gym. Loved the restaurant on site. Front desk was helpful but not unusually well informed though. Loved Sooke and would return for sure.
Recently stayed at the Prestige Oceanfront and I have to say that our stay was a pleasure and we would definitely stay here again. We were here for the May long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed everything about the property. Our room overlooked the inlet and offered incredible views of the Juan de Fuca Strait and the Washington coastline. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. We had a good meal at the West Coast Grill and particularly enjoyed the Vault lounge located in the lobby. Hotel management be advised that you have a gem in Murdock who manages the lounge. He's a pleasant fellow that provides excellent service coupled with some awesome local knowledge. Thanks to all the friendly staff that made our stay a memorable one.
Beautiful location, fabulous fitness centre and spa, and great food in the restaurant. Can be very busy (have stayed there twice - once they had a wedding and a hockey tournament going on, and the other stay there was a wedding and a fishing derby) and noisy - both in the halls (we were near an elevator and partying guests waiting for the elevator could be heard clearly through the walls) and in the common areas. Our room had a deck onto a common area, and another guest sat under our open window and skyped which was noisy, but not the fault of the hotel. Also can make parking a challenge. Had repeated issues with door key not working - four times over three nights (not just card - batteries in door and door needing to be reprogrammed) but staff attended to issue quickly. Food in restaurant is great, and make sure to leave room for a yummy dessert! Definitely a place to sit and enjoy the ambience and view - not a speedy in/out kind of meal.
The Prestige oceanfront Resort was an exceptional resort with an outstanding view and location. The resort itself was beautiful building inside and out. The restaurant was great and I would highly recommend it.
This was a very nice local getaway for us for our anniversary. The room was clean and had a beautiful view. The Sunday Buffer was something amazing with a huge selection of food for everyone's tastes! We will definitely stay here again.
the amenities for our conference were good. the food options for breakfast, lunch and dinner along with the snacks were great, with a good variety of items and a options for everyone. location is very scenic.
Stayed here for two nights. The overall impression, clean hotel, well maintained. Bed was comfortable and with lots of pillows. Decent size room, amazing few. Food was pretty good and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. Downside: Bad wifi connection Water pressure was really low. Didnt enjoy taking the shower.
Spent 3 nights at the hotel and had a great time. Nice spacious rooms with good King beds, quiet atmosphere, and friendly staff. Fished with local guide Tory Howe of Goin Coastal Fishing Charters and was picked up each day from the hotels own dock. They even have a freezer to store your catch. Did not eat in the restaurant but the food in the lounge was good as I watched the NHL playoffs on the big screen tv's. Would definitely stay here again.
Stayed with some girlfriends for a weekend getaway. Someone has built a beautiful hotel In a wonderful ocean view setting. We all enjoyed spa treatments in the little spa downstairs. If you go please see Jana. The most superb facial I have ever had! We had lunch at the restaurant on Saturday afternoon. Again the setting was lovely. Our service and the food was terrible. We decided to have a swim and hot tub. The pool deck was very dirty and the hot tub literally foamed up with huge lather when turned on! We spoke to the front desk about this and were told they were out of a certain chemical but it should be okay? The lobby needs some attention to cleanliness and maybe some help with the multi unintentioned decor. We did have coffee delivered to our rooms every morning but had to call to have the trays removed from the hallway in the evening. They sat there all day. I am a dog lover but hearing dogs barking at you from the rooms when coming home from a lovely night out is just a little disconcerting. Again, a really lovely setting but someone needs to pay attention to some very important details. up with huge lather when turned on. We
Prestige Oceanfront is a very elegant new Best Western on the waterfront in Sooke with views of the mountains in the US across the Juan de Fuca strait. The furnishings in the reception area and the room we stayed in were very comfortable and the wicker-type furniture on the balconies etc. is very elegant.
We spent a night at Prestige Oceanfront Resort while passing through the area. It was mid-week during the off-season in February and the resort was very quiet with very few guests around. We were given an upper floor room with a great view of the waterfront. The room was very spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The decor was somewhat lacking and some touches to make the room feel a little more like a luxury country inn, it would definitely add to the experience. We had breakfast in the adjoining West Coast Grill. The location right on the water offers a spectacular view of the morning sun. The food was delicious and beautifully prepared and prices were quite reasonable for this type of resort. We plan to go back during the summer when there should be more activity and longer days to enjoy the surrounding beautiful scenery.
Got a last minute room and we stayed in the tower with a slight view of the water. Very modern room with all that you would expect. Sports bar was nice and we were able to have a beverage and watch the NHL playoffs! Are at the restaurant Sunday morning and it was a usual hotel breakfast. All cooked well, but the usual.
Loved the setting, loved the staff. Great place to take the family. Lots of local outdoor activities, perfect GLAMPING destination. PS: loved the West Coast Grill oyster chucking and happy hour. Excellent workout facilities and pool
Our family had a great stay and the pool was GREAT!! The building is well maintained and no detail was left unsatisfactory. They were doing some minor repairs but we were there during the week. The crew was very proffetional and the work was excellent. Can't wait to see it finished.
Lovely hotel with a very impressive entry. The restaurant was very good and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Great facilities and a great location. Within walking distance from the shopping centre.
We paid extra and had a beautiful suite with jacuzzi tub and deck with a view. It was spacious and the room was sparkling clean. Like having the robe and slippers. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The lobby was gorgeous. The coffee shop was not open all weekend which was a bit annoying. The front desk staff wasn't very friendly and actually way too serious. That would be a training issue I believe it's important to smile and be welcoming and friendly to paying guests
although this was an upscale hotel, in accommodations only. staff was not friendly. each morning as i took my dog for his morning routine the desk person did not acknowledge me, no "good morning," nothing. upon checking in the desk clerk asked once i listed names of who would be staying in the room "does everyone have the same last name?" really, when i made my reservations by phone i stated i would be staying there with my family. upon check in, and not mentioned when i phoned for reservations i was told there would be a 100.00 dollar deposit that would be refunded if nothing was charged to the room, (they had my visa # already). i would not have booked with this hotel had that been mentioned when i phoned in the reservations. i have given j cramp, the guest services relations person (sorry do not know his official title) a chance to respond to these issues via email but have not received a response so far. prior to the email that i sent he had sent an email that a survey would be sent to me, it never appeared. this is is why i sent an email, basically with the issues mentioned here. since no response to email thus the trip advisor review.
I went here for my Mom's birthday and it was awesome! I had the duck confit flatbread which was good but not as good as my Mom's hotpot! It had mussels, clams, chorizo in a creamy sauce that you could mop up with bread. I almost licked the bowl! My Dad had the burger which he liked, good beef and yummy fries. They will have me back again and again for that hotpot! We just ate in the restaurant, didn't stay in the hotel.
The hotel is very nice, convenient to the area, good food in the restaurant, comfortable rooms, great staff. The lobby motif is very West Coast and attractive and inviting. We have stayed here before and certainly would again.
The staff and the hotel are great. They are all professional in their appearance and their manner. The view is awesome. The pool and hot tub are great. Restaurant and lounge are great too. I recommend the truffle macaroni and cheese - delis.
I booked this place for two nights when I first arrived they were friendly checked us in, got to my room only to be disappointed to find it wasn't the same as the picture when booking the room I paid extra for a belcony viewing the ocean only to find out it faced the across rooms(and it looked older, wasn't what I expected) so I went down to the front desk right away to tell them but unfortunately they couldn't move us cause they were "booked solid" & said I'd have to wait till check out time the next day, they cleaned a room and had one ready by 1:00pm, called me to let me know that day. getting moved to the new room was exactly what I had saw in the picture when first booking this place online, it was everything I wanted & am satisfied with how they dealt with it.
Nice property in a great location. Clean and quiet. Nice spot for a romantic couples get away. Rooms nicely appointed. Would be nice if breakfast was included like other Best Western properties. Overall would recommend!
We had an amazing family stay with our two daughters. The room was spacious and the spa bathroom was great with a jetted tub. One thing they need to fix is that there should be a wall between the washroom and the living room. A sliding shutter does little to mask bathroom noise. The balcony was awesome, for a morning coffee and view. The pool and hot tub were clean and nice to use as well. Overall, a very nice stay!
We stayed here as a family for my daughter's 7th birthday weekend. Unfortunately, she was sick the entire weekend so we couldn't really do much in the way of outdoor activities so I cannot comment about that. I know there are several wonderful walking trails and hikes to do in the area. The rooms are great and the views is beautiful. Lots of windows and places to sit to enjoy the view in the lobby area and the outside veranda. There wasn't anywhere to sit in the room where you could just enjoy the view with a coffee and a book. Wicker chairs on the balconies, but not useful when it's pouring rain outside. Plus, there were four of us in the room, but we only had 3 bath towels; even when the room was tidied the next morning, we still only received 3 towels. No bathrobes provided so bring your own. Single serve coffee maker in the room, not Keurig, but a filter disk type. Only one drinking glass provided so bring your own water bottle if there is more than one of you. Didn't see a menu for room service so assume there is none. Pool change room is small and not upgraded like the rest of the building and run out of towels by about 8:30pm if the hotel is full. I am certain that there isn't enough chlorine in the pool so swim at your own risk as I wound up with a head to toe rash. Hot tubs need to be reset by the front desk if the emergency stop button is pressed. Not convenient when you have to hike up to the 2nd floor lobby from the 1st floor pool. Rooms, balconies and hotel property is non-smoking with some designated areas if you need to light up. Washer and dryer available for $2 each on the main floor. Front desk staff are nice, but didn't really do anything above and beyond. There was only one person to serve a line of people on a Friday night check-in. Unsure if that is normal. We ate at the hotel restaurant, Westcoast Grill, for lunch and dinner and did take out muffins and drinks for breakfast. That was a bit hard on our wallets as the food was average, but the price tag was higher than average, especially for a family of 4, but we were limited on where we could go due to unwell daughter. Restaurant staff are hit and miss with service, depends who you get. The wait staff are not very quick on the uptake when it comes to special menu requests as they seem to get caught flatfooted when they do get requests. Mixed drinks are crazy overpriced and sound good on the menu, but taste is meh. Overall, it was a nice and restful weekend, but there isn't anything at this hotel that would bring us back.
We had a lovely stay, despite the negative reviews others have left, this weekend. There was a wedding happening, and yes, parking was a bit of an issue, but this seems like a minimal discrepancy. Our room was beautiful and clean. Ocean view on the 3rd floor. A nice birthday package with some chips, chocolate and sparkling water was waiting when we arrived (Nice touch), and the food at the hotel restaurant was excellent. Especially breakfast! Staff were friendly and helpful and apologetic of the inconvenience caused by the wedding. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely go back again.
I booked our stay to celebrate my husbands 70th birthday .We arrived to find they had upgraded our room because of this ! We had the huge hospitality suite which overlooked the water so this made our stay even better . The rooms are spotlessly clean the decor in the hotel is beautiful and comfortable. The staff could not have been more accommodating. Because I am a senior I received a 10% discount for our first night and a $25 gift certificate which I saved for our delicious breakfast. My husband found the prawn masala omelette to be exceptionally tasty . I opted for a traditional meal but both kept us wonderfully full for our hikes until mid day. We arrived on Wednesday and SCORE it is two for one entrees on this day . The 12 spice lamb shank entree and the salmon wrapped in Cedar were both fabulous . Jacob our server was exceptional and knows which wines to recommend and compliment our entree choices to add to making the evening even more wonderful,
Our family (including 2 grandchildren 7 & 9) have just had 2 nights at this beautifuly decorated hotel. Our room was oceanview, spacious and very quiet. Beautifully tiled bathroom with rainshower, TV and a separate toilet. The rooms are luxurious and spacious. We had a very comfortable king size bed. We had a Groupon deal which included vouchers for dinner & breakfast in their very nice restaurant. Without the vouchers I think we would have found some menu items a bit pricey, but you can take advantage of some happy hour half-price appys & drinks till 6 pm. Oysters a buck a shuck! Restaurant staff were extremely pleasant and accommodating but not overly attentive. Our only complaint was the time it took for food to arrive on the table. The family enjoyed the pool & hot tub. The all white building is superb and the palm trees and landscaping provide a tropical feel, even in November! We would definitely like to stay there again.
This was are second time visiting this hotel. The hotel is beautiful, very update décor and a grand foyer. Ocean views and a nice pool/hot tub. The room was clean and again very updated and cozy. What stands out the most is how helpful the staff were. Both housekeeping and front end staff were quick in finding us a new room when we were initially checked into one that didn't accommodate all of us. One staff person even went the extra few miles and delivered a stuffed animal that my daughter had left in the room to our house. It was a very kind gesture and much appreciated, especially by my daughter. Would definitely recommend this hotel!
We can't say enough about the staff and service at West Coast Grill, just after we had seen it all, they topped it all off with a special surprise dessert! We have had 4 wonderful meals plus happy hour and we are sad to leave, but we know we will be back!!!
this was a beautiful hotel and reminded us of the Hotel del Coronado in San Diageo. We went in November so were not able to enjoy our huge balcony and all the outdoor space but it looked amazing and we will go back in nicer weather.
As nice a resort as those in Mexico. Right behind the resort is Sooke Sound, a marina, seals, the coast and a lot more. Beautiful scenery, helpful, friendly staff. Styled after a famous Hawaii old-time resort.
We stayed in a one bedroom suite for one night to celebrate an anniversary. This is one of the most expensive "rooms" in the hotel. And yes, we are getting older. So here are the concerns. 1. We learned on check out, that all these particular rooms are right next to the elevator. In fact the elevator shares walls on two sides. There is a deep, continuous rumble like a freight train. I couldn't sleep most of the night. 2. Sofa and chair in the room are very decorative and very uncomfortable. Unpadded 90 degree upright backs. If you drag the pillows off the bed, it just about works 3. Bathroom was gigantic with separate jetted soaker tub and huge walk in shower. Unfortunately the tub filled with brown water. My husband said the shower had water flow that was very, very slow plus no place to put soap or shampoo except the floor. However in fairness, there were many things to like. Room was clean, private balcony, 3 tvs, nice toiletries. Staff at front desk and in restaurant were very pleasant. There is a boat launch right next to one side of the hotel and I wonder if it might be noisy early in summer? However the rumble from the elevator would probably mask that noise. LOL Lovely massage from Barbara in the in house Spa
The décor was grand, and the check in was really pleasant. We loved our room granted we choose to upgrade our room beautiful big room with classy beachy furniture the biggest L shaped balcony overlooking the ocean, 3 wharf, helipad all was good enjoyed our trip to the Island
This was an excellent base for our tour of the local beaches. Make sure to get an ocean view when reserving a room, and check out the packages the hotel offers ie spa, fishing to enhance your stay. The Sunday morning brunch was wonderful, book the restaurant ahead to ensure an ocean view as well.
This is a relatively new property. Beautiful entrance and lobby. The room was quite nice but kind of disappointed with the view - we had a king bed with an ocean view but you had to pretty much go onto the balcony for the ocean view as the room itself faced the rooms across the courtyard. Very clean and the bathroom was very nice. Didn't like the blinds on the windows as you can see through them and they didn't keep the light out. Staff was very friendly at the desk and in the main restaurant. The restaurant for breakfast was lovely. Would stay there again but wouldn't spend the money on an ocean view.
My partner and I stayed here for two nights early October. We had booked a few days before. The hotel is as you can see in all the photos - it is absolutely worth paying for a sea view - frankly it was so wonderful I had a job leaving the room! The hotel is new and the rooms are large and well decorated - it had TV, coffee maker and tea and coffee (this was not always replenished but reception were happy to hand out 'extras'). There was also an iron and ironing board, and free wi fi and local calls. We eat in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner one evening and the food was good. We did not have a car - a friend drove us out to the hotel and collected us after our stay, and I would sound a note of caution about this - the hotel is quite far away from anything and if you want a good walk then you have to walk up to the main road initially before you can get 'off road' again. We caught the bus into Sooke - my partner cannot walk long distances, and the bus was fine. There was a lovely spa and pool but we did not try these out so I cannot comment. I would recommend this hotel if you want a quiet couple of days/nights away from the bustle of Victoria and/or just need some quiet time.
Very Comfortable. Quiet, nice views. Parking is busy. Rooms are great, clean, comfortable beds. Cable TV isn't great, signal can be weak. WIFI is okay. Nice gym, but it can be busy with membership open to non hotel guest.
Loved the wonderful vistas of Sooke Harbour from this waterfront hotel. The full covered balcony was huge and featured beautiful lounge chairs. The rooms were lovely, with high ceilings, and a very comfortable bed. It is a short walk to Whiffin Spit where we watched sea lions frolic and fish for salmon. From a constructive perspective, the rooms could use a little more storage space for longer stays. Would certainly return again.
My husband and I spent four days at the Prestige Oceanfront Resort in late September. We were very satisfied with the accommodation. Grounds were immaculate and well maintained. The waterfront location with a dock and public boat access made it more interesting. Staff were pleasant and helpful in general. Restaurant was very nice with view over the bay. We only ate there once, except for breakfast, so didn't really get a feel for how good the food was. We found the food reasonable and well-priced. Staff at breakfast were extremely friendly and courteous. Our one minor complaint was the barking dog on the adjacent property which wakened us up before 6 am. Since we were in a room overlooking the adjacent property, this issue could be avoided by others planning a stay. On the whole an enjoyable few days.
We booked this hotel via Air Miles points. When we arrived they allowed us to upgrade to an oceanfront king room for cash. The receptionist was very friendly and knowledgeable. The 4th floor room was oversized with two large windows facing the marina and Sooke Basin. The hotel is spotless and very up to date. We ate breakfast at the hotel's West Coast Grill both days. A wonderful 2 nights and anniversary getaway!
First time in Sooke. First time at a Prestige Inn. Definitely would do both again. Hotel staff excellent. Beautiful big room with huge balcony facing the water. Food in the restaurant excellent. If you love the outdoors, you will be amazed at all there is to offer here. Why just 4 stars? Fridge in room didn't work and outside not cleaned up like inside. There had been a wedding - 3 days later beer cans still rolling around the parking lot.
We arrived after a 3 hour drive from the Nanaimo Ferry. It was a little adventure, especially through Humpback Road...but once we got there we were so happy to be there. A nice drive from Victoria so we were close enough and far enough away to not be in the thick of things. Great porch to sit and watch the water. There was a boat launch. When we first go there they gave us a room that overlooked boats on dry land. We were supposed to have a water view so I did ask to be switched even after they tried to tell us it was a partial view. Sometimes you have to ask for what you paid for. The on site restaurant where we had a night cap and breakfast was fantastic. I wish we had eaten dinner there instead of where we ended up in Victoria. Next time I think we will spend a longer time in Sooke as it is definitely worth going back. There was a loud wedding there but nothing too disturbing. I can see why it would be a great choice for an event. WE HOPE TO GO BACK and stay there again! CLEAN, QUAINT, PICTURESQE and INVITING!!!!
I haven't stayed here but my brothers did in June and it is an odd hotel. I have eaten there a few times but still don't know where the front desk is! The food is pricey, my Dad likes the burgers but we have found everything else mediocre. I had the lobster mac and cheese which was not fresh enough for me, my Mom had the calamari and it was overdone to dried out crispiness. Love the view but not the food. Odd layout on the hotel, my brothers had to go downstairs to get to their room.
This is an elegant , fabulously decorated hotel right on the waterfront very close to the centre of Sooke. We were touring Vancouver Island and in the planning process, I had stumbled upon this hotel online and booked it for our anniversary. What a great find!!! Our room overlooked the waterfront and the small marina. Within a couple of minutes of settling in the room, we looked out only to see several seals having a great time playing on the marina docks. This was all too magical. The room was large and very well appointed. The bathroom was again large and finished with marble and granite. Even though it was directly across from the elevator the room was absolutely quiet. We had planned on having dinner at the hotel but were unable to as a large group had booked it. No problem though, as one of the staff recommended a couple of restaurants in town and we ended up having a fantastic meal. Speaking of staff, they were all very welcoming, gracious and generous with their time and special occasion upgrade. Thank you! A thoughtful gift was left for us in the room with a note of welcome as well. We did enjoy breakfast the next morning in the restaurant. There is outdoor seating so you can take in the fabulous waterfront views. There is a lovely indoor pool which we saw when taking a walk on the grounds. This is a lovely area in Vancouver Island and it would be wonderful to be able to return to this hotel but definitely for a longer stay!
We booked this hotel online and were expecting something run of the mill. This place is absolutely stunning. Our rooms overlooked the water and were beautifully decorated and spacious. The hotel is quiet and the restaurant was very good for breakfast. rates are quite reasonable. This place is a find.
I always love coming to the Prestige, we live really close but this is definitely my favorite place to stay in town or out of town. Will definitely have my wedding reception here. The staff are friendly and helpful and nothing beats the tranquility and the views.
Nice place to stay for a visite in Victoria area, near the nature and nice peoples. It is quiet near the fishing warf and wildlife viewing (seal, birds, deer). The hotel is easy to find and within a small and well equiped village (Sooke) for food and activities in the wild.
We stayed at Prestige Oceanfront in Sooke at the end of our West Coast Trail hike. We were trying to get a place in Port Renfrew but we could not find anything, as it was Saturday, the August long weekend and a last minute reservation was impossible. Initially we were a bit disappointed with the fact that we had to do the extra drive while exhausted. Nevertheless, as we arrived at our destination, we were very happy with our choice. We stayed in an oceanfront king suite that exceeded our expectation. The beautiful bay view, the cleanliness of the place, the amazing guest service and the impressive Sunday brunch made our stay memorable. We highly recommend this place and we really hope we will have the chance to go back.
We decided to take an impromptu trip and stumbled on this first-class resort. The room, views and restaurant were excellent. Not only great quality, but we found that for an upscale resort, it was reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
We had a lovely weekend stay here in the summer, great weather helped. The rooms are nice and clean and the restaurant is good. We would definitely stay here again. We bought the package from BC Ferries and it included $20 a day towards breakfast. It was a very good deal.
Recently stayed at the Prestige Resort for a business trip. First time here and hope it won't be the last. Great location and some great views from the inner court yard. Had a chance to dine in the restaurant for breakfast and it was very good. Rooms are large and comfortable. Could use a little more insulation between floors but overall highly recommend.
What a gem! The rooms were fantastic, spacious and clean. The views were outstanding and the buffet on Sunday was great! The food was fresh with a lot of selections from sushi to pancakes. The serving staff was awesome as well. Nice little laundry to clean your clothes.
I think this place offers excellent value. Rooms are well decorated. Bathroom is nice. Beds were comfortable. Nice desk with two chairs for computer work. Mini fridge to keep you beverages cool. Special comment about the check in staff. Both individuals at the desk were polite, professional and helpful. Ideal representatives for first contact with staff. What I would like to see improved to earn 5 stars is: A little better room maintenance. The sun shade in the room didn't work properly. Kind of annoying in the morning when the sun comes through. We were able to fix it but shouldn't be required with the luxury label. Oil the bathroom door so it doesn't squeak. I know it's a small thing but it is so loud it woke my spouse from sleeping. Lastly the door closures on the doors are too strong. How that affects me is that when the neighboring rooms open and close the doors, the slamming can be heard loudly inside the room especially while trying to sleep.
We stayed at this hotel for our anniversary. We were so pleased with Danielle at the front desk when we checked in. When she found out it was our anniversary she did so much to make it memorable. --- Thank you sooooo much Danielle - you are the best. We had a lovely room with a king bed, overlooking the water. The hotel was just excellent, clean, comfortable and the staff was very friendly. We highly recommend this hotel.
We spent four nights here toward the end of our trip to BC. What a treat, from our friendly check in with Jacob who gave us tons of advice and made us feel very welcome, to the housekeeping staff that kept our immaculate room in tip top condition, the restaurant staff in the West Coast Grill (Karen & Dan in particular) who took such good care of us, we thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our stay at the Prestige. The location is gorgeous with numerous hiking & boating activities nearby, plenty of dining options around and about, and only 40mins to downtown Victoria. We spent a an enjoyable day there yesterday, and we were very happy we chose to stay in this community. Highly recommended.
This hotel overlooks a marina right on Sooke Harbour. The views are stunning, even with morning rain. Check in and check out were quick and efficient. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Shower pressure was a bit weak. Also I expect a hotel aspiring to this caliber to have a full-pressure walk-in shower, but it had just the usual bathtub with a shower head. So that's a design issue guests will have to accept. I was working long days so did not take advantage of pool, hot tube, or fitness area. Glad to have free wifi. The Grill (in house restaurant) drops the numbers a bit due to slow service for breakfast.
The Premier Prestige Oceanfront Resort is an excellent hotel in a super location. Sooke itself is 40 kilometres or so from the capital city Victoria, so an easy drive. Has the feeling of a Hamptons Style big homestead and is orientated to face directly out to the marina and bay/inlet. The outlook is very nice and the big drawcard for the hotel. We arrived on a day when there was a wedding at the hotel. That was a bit of bummer with the courtyard of the hotel out of bounds to non wedding guests, plus a lot of noisy alcohol infused guests running around until 3 or 4am in the morning treating the hotel as their personal playground. I would also comment on the check in. All the people checking in ahead of us (which were wedding guests), were having room keys handed to them and heading off to their rooms. When we reached the counter, this lady with a strong eastern European accent was extremely rude. Told us in no uncertain terms that our room was not available and check in time was 4pm. It was around 2pm. I asked if she could find out when it might be available and she just blew me off. Was not interested in finding out when it might be available. I asked if the guests were still in the room. She said no. I asked if the room was currently being cleaned. She said yes, the room was being cleaned, but maybe not our room. So we were sent away to wait. Considering we were leaving the hotel the following morning at 10am, surely you are entitled to 20 hours. As it turned out, we bumped into “Jen” another receptionist and explained what had happened. She apologised, went and double checked and magically, out room was available. Talk about chalk and cheese. Jen came back later and handed us a $25 voucher for use in the restaurant which was a nice touch and the following morning when we were packing the car, she came by to check on our stay. First class. That first receptionist seriously needs to find a different career. Our room on the 3rd floor was very nice, on the small side, but had a large balcony overlooking the marina and bay. Comfortable bed, internet a bit on the slow side. The cable TV was a bit limited by comparison to other hotels in Canada we stayed at and the remote controls used by the Best Western chain are the most useless I have ever encountered. The hotel has a large, well equipped gym on the ground floor with 24 hour access. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and took advantage of our $25 voucher, thanks to Jen. The restaurant is great, centre sit up bar and great views. Food was very good and for that style of hotel, reasonably priced. In the immediate area, there is not much in the way of anything. The hotel is about a kilometre from the main shopping and restaurants. Overall, apart from the check in, it is a stylish hotel that runs pretty close to a 5 star rating.
excellent location and value.. staff friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant was very good.. location was perfect with a balcony and a harbour view.. really captured the ocean view experience.. the gardens and ambiance are exceptional..
This Hotel is so beautiful inside and out ! It reminds me of a resort in Hawaii or in the Caribbean. We stayed there on our anniversary and they upgraded us to a water view. The king bed was super comfy! The room was very nice and attractively furnished. We even had a tv in the bathroom. The only complaint , and really sorry I have one is That there was a wedding there and some of the wedding party were staying on our floor so we heard doors slamming all night And talking in the hall way. The doors are made to slam shut Which I think could be fixed. We do want to to stay there again. Only we will be coming mid week so there aren't any weddings. Or at least ask before we book. One other thing ,is they didn't ask how our stay was when Checking out which I found odd. All in all it was enjoyable in a beautiful setting on the water. I really wanted to give it a 5 star but can't because of those noisy doors.
The good: Clean. Comfy beds, Nice view from the patio. Underground parking. No smoking on balconies. Sushi restaurant and bistro in lobby for your morning latte. Fast & efficient check in / check out. Beautiful drive to Sooke, worth checking it out!! There was a wedding being held in the courtyard when we were there which I wish we had been advised of prior to booking as it was noisy and you felt like you were intruding on their special day if you went down to the courtyard or dock areas. Patios are linked together so no privacy.
This is a beautiful hotel. I really would like to give it a better rating. Great location. After a long day of travel we wanted to just relax and enjoy the resort. The front desk staff was very friendly. Our room was very nice. We went to the courtyard to relax and enjoy the resort. There were big signs posted everywhere, "PRIVATE PARTY, NO ADMITTANCE", or something to that effect. So we go to the restaurant. there is a balcony there. When we arrive we are coldly told "Sorry we are not accepting any more reservations tonight", and it was before 5pm. Parking was scarce, probably due to the private party. Will give it another chance next time.
What a wonderful hidden treasure up the coast from Victoria. We chose this hotel for our stay in Victoria as an inexpensive alternative to the hotels in Victoria. It takes about 30 minutes to drive into Victoria but the drive is breathtaking. The hotel is situated in an inlet or a bay and the view is wonderful. The rooms are very comfortable and the grounds are awesome. I quite enjoyed the seals at the Marina looking for scraps . I will definitely stay here again!
Modern and Spacious Rooms with great views of the Harbor. Good Restaurant, expensive evening dining but breakfast is reasonable. Public docks are on the west side of the hotel and make the very limited parking even more atrocious. Plan on a hike to get to the elevators (two) because there are zero perimeter entrances. For the price and accessibility there should be free bell service.
The hotel is in a great position and very lovely built in the colonial style. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room comfortable, however our trip was marred by the room we were given. We had booked a King room with partial view and balcony. The balcony turned out to be a door with outside access to a communal terrace. No privacy. Avoid rooms 207,206,205.
Quite disappointed with this hotel. The staff were very nice and accomodating when I complained of noises from the floor above they let us move rooms no fuss. However rooms were nothing special. Nothing in the room re spa treatments on offer and no menu for the restaurant. No hairdryers in the rooms which for the price of the room is very poor. Very pricey only saving grace was the entertainment from the harbour seals
We recently spent 3 nights at the Prestige and were pleased with our stay. We asked for an Ocean view room with a balcony and we did get somewhat of a ocean view and a balcony. The view was okay, not so much of an ocean as it was a view of the docks and boats and some water. It was okay though to be honest. The rooms were clean and in good shape. The beds were okay, a little hard for our liking though. If you like watching seals in the area, it's not bad as they are in and around the docks and boats each day. The kids would like it, especially if you get a fisherman (or woman) cleaning their catch on the dock or boat, the seals are all over the place. The location of the hotel is reasonably close to the main village where there are restaurants and some shopping available. Don't let the outside appearance deter you from staying, meaning that it looks quite high end, you feel quite comfortable during your stay.
We stayed on night at this hotel. Loved the waterfront views, unfortunately we could not enjoy the patio as it was booked for a wedding. The hotel looks quite ostentatious, it has beautiful lobby with great views. The customer service at the front desk was excellent, especially when we found that there was a mix up with our booking dates, which were then handled very efficiently. We were happy with the room and found it very clean and comfortable. The only problem we had was the lack of elevators going down to the pool area, one had to go searching for it. Overall an excellent stay.
Just got here but unhappy so far. "Fancy" but not cozy. We spent a fair bit through Expedia for a "balcony room". This turned out to be a room off of a wraparound public deck that fronts the lobby and a dozen rooms. Ergo- we could keep shutters open to see the view and have no privacy, or close the shutters and have privacy but no view. We fortunately were able to switch to an upstairs room with a lot less view but privacy. No refrigerator or microwave. No ice on this floor.
Good location to the docks and fishing guides. One dinner in the hotel restaurant was so-so and the second was very good. Hotel restaurant opens too late for early risers. Macdonalds is the only place open for an early morning breakfast.
I loved this hotel, it was perfect except the bathroom really stank. It looked spotless. I finally realized the shower curtain stank. It was dirty at the hem and even had a yellow handprint where people grasped the curtain to close it . The smell made me feel queasy. That being said, everything else was super wonderful . Quiet, beautiful , great view, comfortable bed. We saw seals in the water close to the hotel. Beautiful creatures! Also, ate at the restaurant twice. Delicious, beautiful view. All is well decorated in my opinion . I would go back if they would change the shower curtain:-)
Travelled to the Prestige from Vancouver with 2 friends. It's about an hour drive from Swartz Bay ferry terminal however the drive is easy and scenic. The resort is in harbour with beautiful ocean views right at your footsteps. The upper parking lot was full however there is a small underground parking lot at the hotel that you can use for free...if you can find a spot! Check in was fast, efficient, and friendly. The lobby is beautiful!! I had requested a balcony room however due to a wedding there was none available. However, the front desk staff person went out of his way to acknowledge my request and instead, provided us with a generous credit to the resorts main restaurant to use for a meal. Our room was in the top floor and had 2 comfortable queen beds with large headboards and lovely pillows. When I booked, it stated that the room had a pullout couch as well, but it didn't. Ask at checkin about this if you need it...we did without but it would've been nice. The room itself was beautiful...clean and modern. As it was on the garden side it was a bit dark even when opening the shutters but not a big deal. The bathroom was large and had a separate toilet closet, deep tub and nice rain shower head. The room had wood floors, an area rug between the beds, comfy chairs and a little table, and a fridge. The air conditioner was chilly but could be adjusted. The windows only had a small upper opening so on a hot day air con would be necessary. We ate breakfast which was really good and reasonably priced ($50 for 3 people including coffees). The service was polite but slow however that might have been due to the kitchen staff prepping for a wedding that night. The elevators are super slow in the hotel, vending machine didn't work, and the slamming of the heavy doors in the hallway from other rooms was loud. The hotel signage isn't great either when trying to get to lobby from the elevators. There is no beach at the resort and not too much around. Whiffin Spit/Park is a short 5-min drive away and is beautiful and has some nice beachey areas to relax. We walked to a small local pub up the street for dinner (Buffy's) which was an experience. Cheap drinks and good food with no atmosphere but it did the trick if you didn't want a pricey hotel meal. This resort is in a beautiful location and well maintained. If you're looking for a low-key getaway try this place out.
We stayed for one night for our anniversary and the hotel itself is beautiful - modern and well decorated room, nice lobby, great views. But we were so surprised by the absolute absence of customer service at this place, it just didn't match the name of the property at all. I work at a luxury hotel in downtown Victoria myself, and I know a little bit about the so-called standards. The reservation process was very unclear, nobody sent me a confirmation email and when I asked for it they said they will send it to me, and then they never did. When I emailed back saying that I still haven't received it, they just totally ignored it and didn't bother replying at all. When I called the front desk to ask for a slightly later check out, the guy on the phone picked up the phone and just said "hey". As I was was asking for a later check out he didn't even let me finish the sentence and said "this room can be extended until 12" and the tone that he used was pretty rude too. At check out nobody asks you anything about your stay, and their faces basically say "you're leaving? Good". Overall, that was extremely frustrating. I was going to recommend the hotel to a lot of my hospitality colleagues in Victoria, but because of the customer service -I am really not so sure anymore. The restaurant staff however was absolutely amazing- very friendly, personable and professional. Food and drinks were good too! The service was a little slow, but still up to my expectations.
The view of the harbour from our room was beautiful, and we enjoyed the open access patio that was available to all guests. If you don't feel like a sit-down meal in the restaurant, this space was a great place to enjoy a casual pizza or take out dinner without having to sit in your room. The room was clean and up to date, price was reasonable and the hotel had lots of parking. If you want full out luxury, stay at Point No Point, further down the road, but the Prestige Oceanfront resort offered us exactly what we needed for our short stay in Sooke.
This hotel was a great value and a nice break from Victoria. You need to drive a bit to get here, but Sooke is a great spot. Eat at the Sooke Harbor House and Mom's Cafe. The hotel restaurant is also quite good. The rooms are decent. The views are great.
This hotel was quite a surprise. The property and rooms are better than advertised. The rooms and water views are amazing. The hotel in itself is very beautiful. The staff is friendly and very helpful. There are lots of fun local attractions to help with entertaining the family. We plan on returning very soon for another long weekend.
This is really a nice place to stay. The lobby is bright and beautiful leading out to a great view of Sooke Harbor with rocking chairs ready for you to sit and just relax. I opted for a room not facing the water which was significantly less expensive and I was happy with my choice. We had 5 meals at the Weat Coast Grill and ate most of them on the veranda overlooking the water, we also enjoyed a cocktail sitting in the rocking chairs so not having a water view room was not that big of deal. Our room was nice and clea with a comfortable king bed. The bath was all marble and had everything you needed. Really liked this hotel.
Amazing place, it was absolutely beautiful, a tad pricey and needs more deep cleanings in the rooms or not allow pets in, as I found 2 huge hair balls in my room! But decor was awesome, as was staff and location, I was under the assumption there was an actual beach there, which there wasn't.
We loved this hotel, from the second we parked the car everything and walked into the lobby. The location and view are just perfect. Our suite had a balcony which was just the icing on the cake for us to enjoy evening coffees or breakfast while watching the sunrise. My wife and I felt like we were in the Hamptons and were treat as such also. Our ONLY thing we were slightly disappointed about was the shower pressure. We always love taking long showers while on vacation. Our shower had almost no pressure.
My wife and I stayed at the Prestige for two nights recently. I had seen the hotel exterior and frankly was a little put off by the white columns and stark exterior. So I was pleasantly surprised to find out tasteful and comfortable everything was inside. Warm lobby, beautiful and well-furnished room, delicious restaurant with great choices. It's a little strange to have a boat ramp as part of the hotel entrance and waterfront with pickups and trailers in and out, but that's actually part of the reality and charm of Sooke. Would stay there again.
Thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and setting of the Prestige Hotel in Sooke. The spa and restaurant are amazing. The service in the hotel itself was a bit lacking, but the spa treatment at Le Sooke Spa in the hotel was awesome and the food at the West Coast Grill was great giving us zero need to leave the peaceful location at the hotel. My mum and I did a mother/daughter weekend and took advantage of the Romance package which offered incentives at the spa and restaurant and provided good value.
I was here to see a good friend, and was surprised to find out that the hotel seemed to be a Clefairy nest in Pokemon GO. The free internet was alright (although, down on my last night, denying me of getting a Clefable). Pool and gym facilities were good for free to use for guests. Great views from the six, would stay again.
What can I say? I had the most amazing stay here. I stayed here before and after my backpacking adventure. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and clean. Front end staff were friendly. I did not pre book my stay. The honored Expedia prices without question. I cannot commend the restaurant staff enough. Not only was the food amazing, but the staff was so friendly. I feel foolish I can't remember everyone's name because they deserve to be recognized personally. They went above and beyond. They were so personable. Hands down I'll be back. I will tell everyone I know about this hotel.
We went to this hotel for a few days, I have been in every Prestige but this one, wow was amazing, the view is great and the staff were top notch. We were very well taken care of and will be there again soon. Thanks to the staff fir making our get away excellent.
I stayed here on a recent trip and was delighted with my stay. It's beautiful!!!! The pictures don't do it justice. The room was fantastic and it was quiet. Had everything we wanted. I would definitely stay there again.
Came here for a couple of days and loved the hotel. It was very quiet, didn't hear a thing once inside the room, which is unusual. ( from our experience.) We only ate breakfast at the restaurant, everything we had was not only good but very reasonable. Our thanks to the hotel for making my husbands birthday so memorable.
I just spent a few nights at the resort and really enjoyed my stay. The room was beautiful, service fantastic, and the on site restaurant made it clear you need not leave the resort. Great view of the Sooke inlet. Even a tv in the bathroom!
Overall pretty great experience, way above and beyond our expectations, everything was top notch and we completely recommend it, we'd would return if we ever went back to Sooke or that area. A really positive stay
We recently completed a family adventure by hiking the Juan de Fucca Trail, a special event with our visiting son, his Australian wife and our youngest daughter. It was to be the perfect ending to a month long visit and our last night together by visiting the lovely looking restaurant at Prestige Oceanfront Resort. We booked rooms. They were lovely. It is a beautiful location with an outstanding view of the Sooke Basin. What could possible go wrong? I reflect and wonder instead, what went right? We were escorted to our table at 6 p.m., ordered our drinks, some appies and our main courses. Our drinks came quickly, thanks to our server, and after a bit of a wait, our appies came. And then the wait began. At 7:30, our drinks, wine and appies done we still hadn't seen any sign of our main courses and when I mentioned aloud I was quite hungry my son stood up to enquire about our meals. We were told they were coming shortly. At 8 p.m. my son went again to ask when we could expect our meals and we were told by the manager that the order had been lost and they would right up! We waited. 8:30 and no food! At 8:40, 4 of the 5 meals arrived, but not mine. My family refused to eat without me having mine as well, even though I practically begged them to eat while it was still hot. They refused. At 9 my plate arrived, fully 20 min. after everyone else's meals. Of course the other meals were cold. The manager was quite embarrassed and we did get our mains with no charge, but as a restaurant goes I've never had such poor meal service. How sad that that was our experience to end such a special time together as a family. I left my email with the hotel manager but have never heard back from the hotel manager. It is a very impressive looking hotel but, it appears, looks can be deceiving.
Is totally amazing upon arrival, looks just beautiful! The room was beautiful and the beds were great, whilst the balcony has no privacy from your neighbours they need some sort of privacy screen. The restaurant staff had no interest what so ever in being friendly! Was very disappointed in the service.
Ok so it took us a while to find the hotel after a few wrong turns but when we found it what a jewel! A tall imposing building built in traditional ship lap way (I think that's what the wooden structure is called), beautifully decorated, exquisite attention to detail, lavish without being ostentatious. Our room, although not a sea view is splendid, a massive bed, a sofa, huge bathroom, China mugs, good coffee and thick luxurious towels. A huge well equipped gym, a pool and a hot tub. Lovely views over the harbour with wildlife in abundance. Charming staff, polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast is not included but there is a coffee shop. We ate in the restaurant last night and were not disappointed, locally sourced food excellently cooked. Excellent!
My family (2 kids, 2 adults) stayed here for a couple of days over the August long weekend and we all loved it. The room was fantastic, with lovely high ceilings, air conditioning, but also a window that opened to get fresh air. Having so many of us in one room, we really appreciated that the toilet is in a separate room attached to the bathroom, and having a TV in the bathroom was also a nice luxury touch while having a bath. The views over the marina were relaxing and the pool - while not gigantic- was certainly a decent size and depth. Everything was very clean and the restaurant was good and offers kids meals which was a welcome relief for the pocketbook. (For breakfast, try the yogurt topped with house made granola, honey and fruit.)
We spent a week in the hotel with our dog. From the moment we signed in to the time we had to leave, was terrific, both regarding the hotel and the wonderful staff, no matter what we asked or who we asked, everyone was helpful, knowledgeable of places to see and how to get there. Very large rooms and air conditioned. Decent sized pool and hot tub. Hotel right on the sea front with spectacular views. Minor thing like having a wine cooler in the room rather than a fridge, but still usable. Very popular for wedding receptions, so can at times be a little noisy. I have travelled throughout Europe and some of the Americas and for me, this is one of my top 3 places to return to.
The hotel was very nice but we decided not to eat in the rather pricey restaurant. Room was lovely and beds very comfortable. Big high ceilings reminded us of our farmhouse back in Scotland. Had a great sunset walk nearby. Lovely veranda area to sit outside and a joy the sunshine.
Our room was terrific - clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. This hotel is outstanding value for the price. This hotel provides a small discount to BCAA members and they accept dogs. The restaurant has seating offering ocean views; we found the food to be average.
This is our 5th year of staying at the Best Western Prestige. The fish and stay package is the best you will ever find. Awesome food, guides, rooms and hotel employees are amazing. Thank you again for the wonderful stay!
one can't do much better and could do much worse. I highly recommend the Prestige Oceanfront Resort. We booked in Feb. for our July stay. The follow up and follow through were perfect. Sooke was a great spot to start exploration of the west coast of the Island and it was always pleasant coming back to our room in the evening. The meals were fabulous. Inventive, proportioned, and delicious. W The only difficulty we had was when we drove by the hotel as we came in from Victoria. We were looking for a Best Western sign but it is under Premier. Beautiful spot, exceptional service
we stayed for one night only. beautiful resort with lovely rooms. too formal for my style, but very pretty. nice views. accomodating restaurant (I wanted sushi from the raw bar, they brought it to me....very much appreciated, as my son and husband wanted to order from the regular menu)
We stayed one night in an oceanfront room and the extra money was certainly worth it. We found the hotel to be well kept and clean and the room was spacious and comfortable. Really comfortable bed! We walked down to the marina and saw a few harbour seals hanging around which was neat. Staff were very pleasant and check in and out was a breeze. Would definitely stay where again. We didnt get to use the pool as it was jammed with kids non stop, of course not the hotels fault.
Great place with spectacular scenery. Had an ocean view room which was great. Room was well appointed and very clean and spacious. Hotel staff were great .. very friendly and helpful. Had a nice pool and hot tub which were great for soaking in after a day of riding the motorcycle. Looking for a quiet getaway then this is the place.
The hotel is certainly very beautiful and clean overlooking the ocean. We are very happy that we picked this hotel to stay for a night. In addition, I left a rain jacket in the closet when I checkout and the housekeeping personnel was very honest to turn it over to the Reception and arrangements were made to mail the jacket back to me. I greatly appreciated the honesty of the staff at the hotel and would like to take this opportunity to thank her or him for doing so.
For MANY months now, access to the EV Charging Station has been blocked off with boxes, furniture etc. Others have documented this here, and we did a couple of months ago. I'm sorry to give such a low rating but they said they were going to resolve this... This picture shows what it looks like today. (Worse than before.) Come on guys!
This hotel was good but nothing special. The bathrooms were amazing though! Who doesn't love a T. V in the bathroom. The one downside was that the coffee shop did not open early enough. We found the perfect coffee shop down the road though. The pool was good but small. I loved that I could look out my window and see the seals playing in the harbour.
We found out about Sooke Prestige at at the Sportsman show in Calgary five years ago and having been coming every year since. We have a great fish and stay package. Can't beat the price, accommodations and service. Jake the hotel manager is amazing. The fishing guides are awesome, the views from the hotel just fantastic. We always have 100 plus pounds of filleted fish coming home with us. A must is a culinary experience at Sooke Harbour House. Sooke potholes is a fun experience cliff jumping. You can rent kayaks at the harbour, see whales and so much more. Enjoy!
Very beautiful resort. Excellent customer service, very clean and comfortable. Dog friendly :) We were there for New Years and didn't eat there because of the limited menu priced way high. Looking forward to a summer visit there.
The name says it all. Fantastic Hotel. The views are beautiful. Beds are extremely comfortable. The couch was comfortable. Would definately recommend to anyone. Our stay was a perfect end to a wonderful day and get away from the kids.
This is a pretty classy hotel situated overlooking Sooke Harbour. Only a 3 min drive into Sooke. The hotel offers all the key amenities expected for a nice getaway. The hotel location is a great home base to hike and explore the beautiful beaches up the coast such as China Beach, French Beach, Sombrio, Port Renfrew. If you are not in to hiking, just watch the surfer or sunset at Jordan River.
This is probably the cleanest hotel I have stayed in ever. I will have more to say in the morning after we have breakfast and checked the place out more. On the surface it looks really cool. I love the architecture and the large columns in the front. Sadly, our room faces the parking lot, but theme the breaks.
I've had the pleasure of staying in this hotel twice, both times for hockey tournaments. I absolutely love it. I even book an extra day just to enjoy the hotel and its surroundings. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. If you are lucky to get the seaside view, it is breathtaking. I am hoping my daughters hockey team make it in to the tournament next year just so we can stay at this hotel. Love, love, love it. Highly recommend it.
Booked this on a whim whilst on a road trip on the island. Friendly and efficient staff, good views, nice menu, well prepared food. Really enjoyed the impromptu stay. You can order pizza from town to be delivered... Just in case you have a craving to dine in your room with a nice bottle of wine ?? all in all very good value for little $.
Stayed on 1 night at this beautiful Hotel in Sooke. Why did they build this colonial looking Hotel is Rustic Sooke?? Makes no sense at all. Front desk staff seemed uninterested and was rarely at the desk. Service in Restaurant was slow and food was average. Atmosphere was nice and on a summer day on the deck it would be awesome. The room was clean and the bed was nice. NO WATER PRESSURE in the shower at all. It was a dribble. I hate that!! This place just baffles me. It could be so good . I have no desire to go back at all. I stayed at the Sooke Harbor Resort next door before and what you gt for the money is far better.
The hotel has great service , spacious rooms and is in a beautiful location. The staff were attentive and able to meet my needs. My room faced the highway and you couldn't hear a sound from outside. The restaurant meals were excellent and well priced. The yogurt and granola is a must try for breakfast
Stayed 1 week at this hotel, received an upgraded room with a walk veranda. Hotel staff amazing, knowledgeable about places to visit to enhance our stay. Excellent food and appetizers if your not to hungry. A 1 minute walk to the waters edge, watching seals and otters at play, or being fed from the fish cleaning area set up for fishermen. Stunning views if you just want to chill, with a choice of the hotel veranda, or the grassy knoll on the grounds. Ed Macgregor park is a 5 minute walk towards town from the hotel, lovely winding forest walk to the waters edge. Walking the spit was an experience, taking you to the narrowest point between East and West Sooke. Loads of water activities close to the hotel. Super friendly residents, lots of outdoors activities.
We stayed here while visiting family and the only disappointing thing about our trip was that we couldn't stay longer. The hotel is beautiful and the location is so peaceful. They gave my daughter a welcome gift at checkin so she thought the place was great. There was a wedding that weekend and the restaurant was really busy so we decided to order room service, which we really enjoyed. There is another restaurant on site but it was closed during our stay. The rooms have hardwood floors (a plus for this pet friendly hotel) and really high ceilings. The bathrooms are quite big and spacious. This family of 3 were very comfortable on this room. I woke up early on Sunday morning got a latte from the little coffee shop on site and sat in one of the comfy porch chairs. It was so peaceful and relaxing. I can't wait to go back and visit with all the seals that hang out around the docks.
I was there for one of my best friend's wedding and found a gorgeous hotel with very nice staff. Everything was perfect over what you can expect of an hotel. This hotel is built with victorian era style, lots of columns, very nice view. We had breakfast served by the same lady, Caroline from Québec I can tell to have talked to her in french a little that was very kind and always smiling. Wish I could stay longer, will be back for sure!
From the time of arrival to our departure...we experienced excellent service, manager Jacob allowed us early check in. Lunch was very good, served by Heather, We also enjoyed supper served by Lisa......we got the feeling that the staff are very happy here the service was genuine. We enjoyed an upgraded room with direct view of Harbour, fitness facility and pool were very clean...highly recommend this Hotel..
This was a last minute booking on the ferry ride to Vancouver Island and at first we felt it was a bit far as we wanted to be in Victoria and this is about 45 min away. The drive ended up not being bad at all and wow this was a great hotel. From the beautiful rooms, the service, and the views- we were not expecting this great of a place for about $100 per night! James at the front desk upgraded our room for free and due to us arriving at 2am, he wanted us to be able to sleep in a bit so he increased the checkout time as well. The gym isn't bad as well- good for circuit exercises. I wish we could've stayed longer! I can't say anything bad about this place!
Recently built and to the highest standard. It reminds of the great hotels in Asia...beautiful welcoming lobby elegantly furnished. Rooms with shuttered windows looking out on to the harbor. 5 star beds and bedding. A spectacular property which is clearly well managed and maintained. And just 5 minutes from the cute little town of Sooke. This is a great getaway (and romantic) spot for a couple of days or more.
This hotel is elegant in every aspect & a joy to spend time in. We originally booked for 3 nights but asked for an extra night. Check-in was smooth & room was ready even though we arrived early. We had a premium water view on the 4th floor & were immediately impressed upon opening the door to the room. The unobstructed view of the Bay was incredible. As well as the room there are a lot of common areas throughout the hotel for relaxing & spending time. The indoor pool & jacuzzi had a nice view & lounging area outside. We were also impressed with the cleanliness of the room & entire hotel & grounds. There is also a Spa which we didn't use this time. The restaurant & bar was excellent also with a great view.
This is a really nice high class hotel. The Lobby is huge with a view over the Harbour and nice seating areas to enjoy. They have a raw oyster bar and a coffee bar in the lobby. The hotel is build on a grand scale and reminded me of an old southern plantation. The rooms were nice and we had a water view overlooking the marina and harbour and could watch the fishermen heading out for a day on the water. The restaurant and bar had great service and menu. This place has it all. The spa and fitness centre have their own floor. You need a couple of days to enjoy the hotel and a couple of more at least to visit the surrounding natural areas, go fishing, hayacking or just walk the beaches. We will be back.!!!!!
We booked this hotel as it was a cheaper alternative to the hotel the wedding we were attending was at. We were pleasantly shocked with the stunning views and gorgeous architecture of this Best Western. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back for another get away.
we enjoy excellent stay in Sooke at the Prestige Inn . Beautiful property over looking the Sooke Basin of the Pacific. The rooms were quiet and most comfortable. Then finally the restaurant again looking out onto the Sooke Basin, beautiful setting and excellent food five out of five stars
Unplanned side trip and worked out great. Very nice view and the food was very good. Would return again and this was a 2 hour side trip. Staff was great and we followed there advice to visit the shore.
It was so nice to get away, even though we live 40 mins away from this hotel. We had a great time the weather was really nice so we could go for a walk near the water. Very nice hotel helpful staff, and the dinner was a delight to eat .Beds comfortable, spacious room, would go there again.
Went out to Sooke for breakfast with the thought to use the EV (electric vehicle) charging station here. Sooke is quite lacking in EV charging facilities so were hoping for better results! The Charging spot is filled with huge cardboard boxes and the charger was only barely visible. As anyone can park in the spot next to the boxes, the charger is really only available if you're lucky. I'd be more forgiving but looking on the plugshare app, it's been this way for many months!
Three family members travelled to Sooke to celebrate a child's birthday with 3 members living in Sooke. The hotel was very clean and the staff very pleasant. We all had excellent dinners and breakfasts in the dining room overlooking the picturesque harbour. The large covered harbour-view porch was a good place to meet (and in our case, to open presents). The rooms were large and the bathrooms were even equipped with televisions to be viewed from the bath or counter.
Came here to see the Sooke potholes which was pretty but not as spectacular as we expected from pictures we had seen. But this hotel made our trip.. Our room (the blue and green decor on the lobby level) was absolutely beautiful with high ceiling and a great view of the harbor from our balcony.. spent about an hour watching several very curious and hungry seals around the pier who were looking up at us w/ puppy dog eyes hoping we had some salmon for them.. lucky for them a couple of fishermen came up who had some salmon and were happy to share it with the seals.. it was awesome.. We ate at the hotel restaurant.. dinner was superb but breakfast was just ok. All members of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel.. take a kayak around the bay.. beautiful!
We're regular guests at the prestige, but only recently tried the restaurant for a late night snack. We arrived close to closing, so really didn't expect much...maybe a quick appy, possibly to-go if they wouldn't seat us. Boy were we wrong! Our host and server for the evening, Julie, greeted us warmly and asked how she could help us. When we explained our interest in an evening snack, we were ushered to a beautiful ocean-view booth with water and lemon slices quickly served at the table. We were told to take our time with the menu and to please not feel rushed, despite the hour. Julie offered us a few personal recommendations from the menu, and was so accommodating in answering my wife's (admittedly restrictive) dietary questions. Graceful and warm all the way thorough. The food was fantastic (the chowder has whole prawns in it! Among the best ive ever had!), but the venue--and especially the impeccable service--took it over the edge. Thank you!
We had some time during the week while our grandchildren in Vancouver were at school so we decided to visit Sooke for the first time. We did an advanced purchase as we couldn't believe the rate quoted. It was a great buy as we had a couple of wonderful days in the Sooke area. The hotel was wonderful from the room; with a balcony overlooking the bay, we were able to watch the seals and a family of otters from there; to the pool and hot spa.
The hotel was nicely appointed. Loved I could step outside on a veranda overlooking ocean and seating was supplied. Gorgeous courtyard and rooms were very nice with an actual bathtub you can relax in. They made great use of the outdoor seating areas. The location as a tourist was great but it was very out of the way for a business conference when you consider what it takes to get there.
Good place, very close to Wild Mountain Restaurant. Comfortable room and bed, good view. No complaints. We had breakfast in the restaurant. The potatoes could have been better, recommend frying them in olive oil.
From the outside to the grand entrance you know this is not your average hotel. The reception was great and made you feel very welcome. I had a room facing the ocean so I watched fishing and pleasure boats go in and out. The room was very well appointed and comfortable. This is a very nice place for locals to escape for a weekend.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. The room was beautiful, clean, spacious and what a view! We could sit on our sunny deck and watch the seals in the bay! The fitness centre is a good size and very well equipped. We found the food in the restaurant to be excellent and priced fairly. The Sunday brunch had something for every taste, including the made-to-order omelette bar. The couples massage at Le Sooke Spa was wonderful, relaxing and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, we had a great 2 night stay and would recommend it to anyone!
this hotel in Sooke is outstanding from the looks, and the beautiful area its at. the staffs friendly, pools great with the fitness center and onsite spa just adding to things to do.my family and I will be returning soon.
We stayed for two nights, mainly for a wedding but also for a longer break. The hotel is certainly impressive, great location and views from public areas. Modern decor, but it didn't work for us in the room and with hardwood floors throughout, not comfortable. A blind was broken on the window, the fridge was enclosed in a cabinet to disguise it being a fridge but that doesn't work when you need air circulation. There was dust on some surfaces and we found a bag in the room presumably left by previous occupants. We requested our room to be made up after 12 noon because of the wedding. We got back to the room at 4 and it wasn't made up then we had to phone to get it done. I asked if there was green tea for the room and told they only have two varieties of tea so I asked in the restaurant and had to pay for a tea bag as if I had consumed it in the restaurant. I was surprised at this as most places have green tea now. The restaurant service was good as was the food but we certainly would not stay there again.
I would highly recommend this hotel which gives a luxurious feel upon arrival but with a relaxing atmosphere. The staff, the spa, the view, the location, the room, the restaurant were all wonderful! This was my fourth stay at this resort and I will continue returning on an annual basis. It is close to beaches, parks and other known sightseeing areas. The perfect getaway I was looking for!
this hotel
