Very good hotel, great central location and quiet as well. Big and comfortable rooms. Very nice and friendly staff. The food in the restaurant was also very delicious, with a lot of choices during the breakfast. Strongly recommend.
Very welcoming staff at reception, lobby bar and restaurant. The were smiled and helpful from check in to checkout. The breakfast is fantastic. What more could someone expect- bacon, sausages, smoked salmon ....Rooms are clean and new. Definitely try nex time go to Sofoa
We stayed few nights at the BW City Hotel. Rooms are rather comfortable and clean, of descent size and nicely furnished. Would be better to get 1 more of each towel for sure. Wi-Fi works in all locations, reception is well furnished. As to staff most of them are really nice and helpful. I had bad luck one evening to meet a moody one. I had to scan a document and she was ready to kill me but i somehow survived. Breakfast is nothing special, basics are provided and you get more or less all you need. I was ordering Coffee from the bar as the coffee provided free of charge left something to be desired. Restaurant of the hotel is nothing special, we had dinner there and there are better places around to enjoy better food. Otherwise service was fine. Main issue is the elevator next to the reception. It is extremely slow and irritating. Better to take stairs if possible :). Otherwise as mentioned above nice hotel in a good location with mostly friendly staff and proper facilities for a rate you pay.
The hotel was a haven and a gem. Centrally located, clean, modern and pleasant - a very good place to stay. I also tried the Italian restaurant on site, which I thought was excellent. I did want to give a couple of pointers to things I felt could be improved upon, even though very minor. First is that my room was quite dark, with a dark colour scheme and low lighting. A stronger lamp might be good! Second was that the hairdryer in the bathroom wasn't very powerful. Third was while I had a single occupancy double room it felt a bit mean that I only received a single duvet! Being away from home is my time to have a double bed to myself! All told though, a great place and will be visiting again.
The hotel was in a very walkable area of the city centre. There were newly discovered ancient ruins (the city was building a new subway) as well as a fantastic pedestrian walkway with many shops and cafes. The rooms were very nice with king size beds and coffee in room. A delicious buffet breakfast was included. Many eateries in the immediate area.
Nice rooms, some quite small. Good sized modern bathrooms with bath and shower. Breakfast was fabulous with fruit, hot dishes and everything you could expect. Don't miss the banitsa! It's an easy walk to the pedestrianised shopping street and the metro station. We had dinner there one night. It was ok, not great. Service was good.
The rooms are large and quiet, the cleanliness excellent, breakfast is copious. The staff is courteous and helpful, female staff that is. Like elsewhere in Bulgaria most males are rough, hard to get "good morning" from them, even when you take the initiative to say it first. As compared to other hotels in Bulgaria on this trip this one rated well. Hotels were generally roomy, but service was sparse.
Excellent! Very, very clean. Very modern. Typical twin beds for a couple. Bathroom a little tight but very modern and immaculately clean. Breakfast was wonderful. Vast array of choices and all delicious.
Located approx. 30 mins. drive from SOF airport. Hotel offers shuttle, which we would have used if we knew. The City hotel is not in the city centre, but it does not take long to go there by tram, by foot or taxi. You are a few minutes from the Nevski cathedral. There are a few takeaways, kiosks and 2 cafees near the hotel. The hotel has 2 wings, A+B. Small lobby area with lobbybar, sitting area outside. Ground floor offers meeting facilities, business centre (PC and printer) and Italian restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. No bellboy service. Allthough requesting a high floor We were located in the B-wing on the 1st floor. Good size room, carpeted, comfy doublebed, clean linnen, Sat.TV, minibar, safe, coffee/tea&kettle. Even the aircon was off, cold air was coming out which made me freeze during the night. (extra downs provided). Bathroom of good sized, Tub was really tall and not easy to get in and out if you are an older person. Waterpressure a bit wobbly. Lights at the mirror could be improved. Room cleaned everyday, cleaning staff seemed friendly, but shouting in the corridors and slamming doors when trying to rest. Wifi worked fine everywhere, and the hotel was clean. Breakfast served from 7am with cold and hot items, all fresh and well prepared. Unfortunately the coffee is not good and 1 machine is not enough when the place is busy. We had a few dinners in the restaurant, all fresh and well prepared. Prices high scale, but still prices in Sofia are quite reasonable. As a diamond client we had 10% off the restaurant bill. Some days we were able to add the bill on the room, some days not!? One evening there were a private party in the restaurant, which meant that we could not use the courtyard or the restaurant, but we could hear the loud music until midnight in our rooms. Travelling with my elderly mother it would have been nice with a warning. We did find staff friendly and helpful, but would probably choose another hotel next time when in Sofia.
I don't like to leave negative posts at all but this was a real disappointment to our start in beautiful Bulgaria. The poor service and disappointment started at the front desk - they couldn't find our reservation and when they did, we had booked and paid for a deluxe/superior room. We were put in a room which was definitely not like the superior or new rooms in the pictures. We were told the only difference was the toiletries - this was clearly not the case. The bathroom was shabby. The shower was broken off the wall and the tiles cracked. The hotel lobby is in the middle of being updated, there are bags of cement and dust sheets everywhere. The breakfast was good and plentiful though! Really sad to have to have written such a negative review when others seem to have had a good experience - but our stay and the way we were treated really did leave a sour taste. I wouldn't stay here again and would think twice about Best Western again now.
The City Hotel is located just 5-minutes walking from Alexander Newsky Cathedral and 10-minutes walking from the city center. Hotel is modern and staff is really professional and helpful. Private parking available next to the hotel or other public parking just outside the entrance. My room was not so big but comfortable and clean. Breakfast was quiet good even if not exactly as per 4 Stars hotel. In the average a good hotel not so far from the city center.
The hotel is modern, the rooms are very confortable and clean. The bed and pillows were so good! The staff is very friendly and helpfull. The breakfast was good, with variety and different options. The location is amazing!!! You are 2 min walking to the Aleksandar Nevski Cathedral (as soon as you leave the hotel you see the cathedral on top of the street) and also 1 min from coffeeshops, restaurants, Atm, supermarkets. The hotel is perfect to visit Sofia because it is central and very near to the monuments, museums and main streets/areas. You can also reach vitosha boulevard in just 10 min walking . We didn't use the subway during our stay because everything is near the hotel in walking distance. The hotel is very quiet, no noise in the street or inside the hotel. A perfect choice if you are traveling to Sofia! the entrance of the hotel
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and this is our positive and negative things that we can say. +Breakfast was amazing, a lot of choices - pancakes, salmon, Bulgarian nacional bread, a lot of warm dishes and more - just can't write the all food. +Location was really quiet +They offer taxi for us in the morning - 13levas to airport +They give a breakfast box for us in the morning - 2 delicious sandwiches, banana and water +The staff help to us a lot - we have many problems and they worked well. +The room was really clean and every day they washed our room and change everything. -In our stay time many things in our room broke - the kettle, the lamp, the shower - too much for 4 stars hotel You can stay at this hotel if your priority is breakfast, good service and central location.
Clean and comfortable, this hotel is ideal for a weekend break. We ate in the hotel's Italian restaurant upon arrival and the food was excellent. Good value too. Only a short walk from the cathedral the hotel is ideally placed for sightseeing. There was loads of choice at breakfast and I especially liked the smoked salmon. Would thoroughly recommend.
CAN'T FAULT THIS. I see a few have sai dthat it is poorly located..it isn't..the cathedral is literally yards away..and although the road the hotel is in looks ran down..it is no different than any other road in Sofia... it is just the way of things... we couldn't fault it and the breakfast ( which is free to guests by the way)..is amazing.
We stayed at this excellent modern hotel two nights. It is about a 15 or 20 minute walk to all the historical sites in downtown Sofia. We had a small room on the 4th floor. Good refrigerator, large flat screen TV with several English channels, good air conditioning, large windows that open, and a very comfortable bed. The bath room had a shower stall, but a problem was that the shower flooded the bathroom floor if you take a long shower. Excellent buffet breakfasts, one of the best during our 35 day trip to eastern Europe. We had a good dinner in the hotel restaurant the first night. We used their shuttle service to take us to the air port. It was convenient, efficient and reasonably priced. This hotel is highly recommended.
The hotel is just a 10-15 min walk to the city centre and only 5min from the great golden cathedral, so well placed to see the sights. The hotel itself is new in appearance. Check-in was quick and efficient. The room was a corner suite. The view was nothing to speak about but the suite was roomy with a nice small bathroom. There are six English film channels on the TV, but didn't find any CNN or BBC news channels. Breakfast had a nice selection of food from smoked salmon to European bacon, salad, cooked meats and pastries. Overall a nice hotel within walking distance of the city centre.
Booked via an internet Co. Great comms back from the hotel and confirmed they had my order. Booked this due to cost and location. On check-in the receptionist missed off a room . She said we only booked 4 not 5 !!!! panic. After trying to charge for another, she found the other one. YESSSSS.This was the only down side. Human error. But was corrected just in time. We were in block A. Rooms very clean, good layout for a city hotel, ,mini bar, tea coffer etc, (No Eng breakfast tea in the room) but you could get some. Other teas in room, just as nice. Beds and pillows fine, Views from top floor brill. All staff members were great. Very small bar, but plenty to drink. Breakfast was far better than we all thought. Most things available that you would expect from Bulgaria. Bathroom V Good. shower had plenty of pressure and easy to adjust. Towels - no issues. AC was ok. We had a terrace, with good weather we used. It would have got 5 out of 5 if the check in was a small bit better, so lets say 4.5 from me. Thank you all at BW City Hotel. Would deff come back and stay again. The above comments are from all 11 gents who stayed.
Very good location, confortable room and good service, generally. The location was excellent. On the other hand, np commodities in the bathroom, except liquid soap, and although the breakfast was good the staff was slow in replacing missing items and food.
We really enjoyed our stay, room was freshly decorated and furnished, breakfast was decent and all staff were very helpful. The rooms were spotlessly clean, towels and bedding were top quality, definitely stay here again if back in Sofia.
Just home from 3 night break in this hotel. Very good location, very quiet area, yet very central. Room clean and spacious, Excellent breakfast with great variety of hot and cold dishes. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay in this hotel again.
A lovely hotel, very central. Lovely room with plenty of room. Though near the city centre, the hotel was very quiet. Staff were very helpful and the breakfast more than adequate. Would definitely stay there again if I visited the city.
Normally I pick the hotels myself but this time it was done by my internal travel department. And they had chosen a very good hotel for my 4 days business trip in Sofia. Check in went super smooth and I had the corner suite on the 6th floor. It's really a big room. The internet connection was ok enough for me to do some late work, but the connection was not fully 100% reliable. The room was clean and kept clean by housekeeping every day. The most annoying thing about my room was, that the climate control could only warm the room but not cool it down. So even on 19 degrees it was freaking hot. Putting it in the cool modus, I'm only getting an error message. It seems only the heating modus was working, So the best solution was to turn it off I had one dinner at the Italian restaurant at the hotel. It was actually very good and really not expensive. In Sofia I found out there are plenty of other good places for food and drinks. And my Bulgarian colleagues were a good guide. Every day breakfast is in the restaurant. For me there was enough choices and it was ok. I did get a nice breakfast box from the hotel when I had to leave at 05:00 in the morning. And it was yummy! I was happy that the hotel offers a shuttle bus to the airport that operates 24/7. It costed me 10 lions. I really liked my stay and would definitely reconsider city hotel for my next stay. And recommend it for any one who wants to visit Sofia.
This is a good location for the center of Sofia close to many points of interest. Cozy hotel with newly refurbished and renovated rooms. Very clean. Good breakfast and also quite good wifi signal. Nice staff ready to help. Enjoy
This hotel is well-located close to the centre of Sofia and just off a major road. It has 4 stars, good english is spoken and the level of service is very good with a front desk that is open 24 hours. The hotel has two wings with a restaurant serving both - that said, it is not a particularly big hotel. Rooms probably vary, but ours was well-equipped with a kettle, hair dryer, minibar, flat screen TV with plenty of channels etc. The room was kept clean and was pleasantly decorated. The bathroom was also well-illuminated and well laid out with an efficient shower. I found the pillows to be uncomfortable and an extra memory foam pillow was supplied - that said, others appeared to find the beds and pillows comfortable. Breakfast is a buffet with cereal, fruit, eggs, bacon, vegetables, pastries, pancakes and much more - an excellent choice with good fruit juice, teas and less commendable coffee. It pays to arrive early as the hot food can cool towards the end of the serving period. The restaurant, La Vita e Bella, is also a good choice for evening meals with a good menu and service and very reasonable prices. Wi Fi is available in the restaurant and worked very well within the rooms. I'd be happy to stay here again.
Very good price abd location, near of bug avenues, Cathedral, Russian church, abd official buildings. Basic breakfast and clean abd comfortable rooms. Very priced ! Near restaurants and very good walking connections.
The hotel laid on the transfer from the airport which was good value for money if you don't fancy coming by tube and then walking. That said the hotel is extremely well situated close to everything without being overrun by noise from the city, everything was in walking distance. The staff were really nice and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and we had a superior room in the roof which was worth the extra. Breakfast was tasty, filling with a great choice and served in a nice spacious area which offers outside seating in summer. They have an on site bar and the Italian restaurant that operates on site was excellent and great value. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
We arrived on the 24th around 17:30. The first impression was average. After the check in, I saw a note that the only restaurant in the hotel will operate till 18:00. I asked the reason - they told me: the staff will celebrate Christmas Eve with family...If we knew it earlier, since nobody informed us, we could eat somewhere else before arriving at the hotel. So, we started looking where to eat in Sofia in Christmas Eve where the majority of the restaurants were closed. Obviously, the next day was again closed ( staff again with family )... so I asked the reception when they will operate again and they didn't even know to tell me exactly. We decided not to try at all this restaurant. Breakfast was quite good however when the coffee machine ran out of cappuccino the waiter told me that is finished for today, they will refill it for tomorrow. What ?! In a 4* hotel ?! Room: booked superior double, it was nice, good WiFi, lot of amenities BUT please change this awful bottle of water!! *The housekeepers where really good at their job! Position: 15-20' to go to reach Vitosha street - the Main Street of Sofia. 7-10' to Alexander Nevski Church.
First time in Bulgaria. The town centre is just a short walk away, down one straight street, so it's difficult to get lost. Staff are friendly, hotel was clean. Comfy beds & nice big fluffy cushions. You won't regret staying here.
The Hotel rooms were clean, with some views. The room had a fridge, TV with English and the Hotel offered a good breakfast selection. Staff spoke English and were able to assist us with brochures and maps. The restuarant offered Italian dining and was well used.
I had a great stay at the City Hotel, i have visited before too but I was pleased to hear that the hotel was recently renovated and it was the perfect choice for my last business trip. Location is perfect - quiet street but very central, I had dinner in the restaurant which was very tasty and loved the brand new rooms and thought that the lobby was perfect for a business meeting. Will be back soon.
Very Central Hotel ,operating already for last 12 years, close to Aleksandar Nevski church,Parliament central walking zone Vitosha street. Many Restorants arround in 5 min walk, staff is very kind ,rooms are very clean and Hotel is fully renovated. Parking is extra cost 5 euro but very secure.
Decent choice if you're travelling on a budget. Wouldn't recommend it for a romantic break, but neither for a business trip, if you need to do some work in your room, since there's no desk (at least not in the room that I stayed in). The location was not very convenient in my case, not even my taxi driver knew how to find it. Other than that, it's clean, quiet, pretty basic inside, helpful staff, good wifi coverage and good breakfast too.
Very good location. Metro station 600 meteres from the hotel. Taxi from airport 13 Lewa. Very good breakfast. 500 meters walk to the center. 200 meters from Nefsky Cathedral. New rooms with great amenities. Stay in the corner suite,
I spent 4 nights at the hotel in two separate stays as part of a group tour. I liked both rooms and each had a nice decor. The location is just a few blocks from the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, though getting there was an adventure sometimes because the main street running perpendicular to the hotel's street was torn up, ie, down to the dirt. Additionally, there's a kiosk across the street that sold water and snacks at very reasonable prices. And a Subway was about 2 blocks away. Breakfast was great, featuring not only the usual eggs and stuff, but also including smoked salmon. Our group had dinner there one night, and the food was very good. I enjoyed the fried fish. The only issues were getting a few mosquito bites while staying in the first room, plus waking up due to partying folks arriving back at their rooms between 1 and 4 am. There was a large contingent of youngish folks staying there on a Saturday night..
it is a good location because of its close proximity to major attractions. You can walk to these attractions but the neighborhood is a little creepy. I do not think it is safe to walk at night. My room is a single. Physically, it is on the small side. You do have a very small desk with chair, coffee maker, hair dryer, room safe, and a mini bar. You cannot have some type of physical disability because of the elevated bath tub/shower combination. It was a little awkward to step up onto the tub. The first night, I was on the sixth floor where I can hear the jet airliners take off over the city. Plus, it was a Saturday night and there was loud music played until midnight. Due to mix up with group information, I was moved to another single room on the third floor. The rooms are clean and kept up They do serve breakfast from 7am to 10:30am. They serve scrambled eggs, sausages, smoked salmon, bacon, etc.
The hotel is close to many major tourist sites. There are many good restaurant in walking distance. The room is nicely kept and the amenities very nice. The bed is comfortable and the breakfast is very good. A nice modern oasis.
The hotel is located just a five minutes' walk from the beautiful Aleksander Nevski cathedral and fifteen minutes' walk from the main pedestrian area. There are some good restaurants nearby and the neighborhood is calm, quiet and safe. The hotel was recently renovated and the rooms are quite new. My room was on 5th floor was 4x4 meters and had a nice small but new bathroom with shower. Furniture was quite new and modern design. I loved the parquet on the floor, the best one I've ever seen. Unfortunately in the room the free WiFi doesn't work well and the connection sometimes does not let you download emails and access the internet for few minutes. Breakfast buffet was good. There is one italian restaurant available but I did not try that. Service was ok.
We spent a few nights in this hotel around 5 years ago and it was a very good hotel for the money. It would still be if they would care a bit more for their guests and not only for the wedding guests. Location is very good, close to the center but at the same time quiet. Bed is comfortable and rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast is average. Now with the bad and very bad things: WiFi signal is not good...but this is nothing compared to the other problems we had. This year we spent first 1 night and after about 1 week another 2 nights. Each of the 3 nights there were weddings organised in the restaurant. We could not get anything to eat or drink from them, the restaurant was not serving the hotel guests! The music was not loud, however, around 4-5 in the morning when the wedding guests were probably heading home it was terrible. All this time, wedding people went outside to smoke (just beneath the other rooms) which was annoying. My wife + little daughter got stuck in the elevator ....if you push the emergency button the service applies for BW Hotel City Pleven! When we got back after 1 week the elevator was not working at all any more (maybe it was better like this). My parents-in-law were woken up at 5 AM to move their car although they've parked in a spot indicated by one of the employees of the Hotel. In the last night we were woken up shortly after midnight by the fire alarm. It was apparently because some fireworks from the 2 weddings going on downstairs. In short, it was a bad experience, they have to decide if this place is a hotel or a ballroom and act accordingly, it doesn't seem like both can work.
I visited this hotel with my husband on a two night stop over in Sofia. We arrived very late on the first night the receptionist was pleasant enough and concierge took our luggage from the taxi to our room. However, on the second evening there were two weddings in the hotel. We were rudely informed the bars and restaurants were closed to hotel guests and if we wanted a drink there was a coffee shop at the top of the street. I feel this is totally unacceptable as we paid our money in good faith that the hotel had it's own bar and restaurant. If it's the case that bar and restaurant closes to guests in the event of a wedding then that information should be available on the booking form. If you cater for functions then you should have adequate facilities to still cater for your paying guests also as they are just as important. Note to any body thinking of booking check there isn't a wedding on here before you book!
I travelled alone and obtained a good price at the last minute, which perhaps is why my room wasn't as stylish and up-to-date as the one in the picture. But putting that aside, and in the circumstances it didn't matter to me in the least, this is a good hotel, friendly and convenient. Apart from the scrambled eggs, which were both granular and watery, the breakfast was excellent. I had some difficulties with accessing my room (the lock malfunctioned) and needed help from the staff to enter and exit, but all was handled in a good-hearted and helpful, sympathetic manner. I would stay here again.
Hotel is in an excellent position. Apart from being in a pedestrian area it has a central position, clean and good breakfast. Our bathroom was a bit small but it had all the amenities. I would certainly recommend it.
I have stayed at the City Hotel in Sofia for 2 nights (05 - 07.06.2017). The room was good. The food was good. But I wish to highlight the hospitality of the two receptionists at my arrival in the evening. They were very informative and did their best to make me feel welcome even though the arrival was after 10 pm.The other receptionists should learn from them. Human resources definitely make the difference. Very good location. I would recommend this hotel.
I have stayed at the City Hotel in Sofia for 1 night only. It was not planned, but more a super last minute booking. I feel like giving a thumbs up to the decor of the public areas of this hotel. Clean and well kept. The business centre has 2 computers with large desks and comfy chairs. The internet connection was also great. I believe it to be also a printer. Basically everything you would expect and need. My room was nice and comfy. Didn't take full advantage of it as I checked in very late at night. The overnight agent was kind enough to give me a late check out due to the circumstances. In the morning I have enjoyed the buffet style breakfast in one of the dining areas. The food quality was good! The highlight of this stay was definitely the front desk agent at check out. I do not remember her name but she is the nice girl with glasses that worked Sunday morning, June 4th. She was very helpful to assist me and went above and beyond by giving me recommendations.
At first I was given a very small room with wallpaper peeling off and in the other wing which was a maze to get to.Thanks to the staff they changed me to an apartment with a balcony for no extra cost. Otherwise I would have left. Breakfast was adequate and a nice courtyard there. I had dinner in the restaurant one night and the food was excellent. Rude waiter though. The driver was great, gave me a history of the city. WiFi, location, quiet, walkable to all attractions.
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is not big and very centerly located near the Nevsky Church on a quiet street. The rooms and the bath room are spacious and the hotel is very clean. Internet is free and good also in the rooms. In the room they offer sleepers , nice to have. Breakfast is rich and there is a lot of choice. Front desk was helpful. There is a restaurant in the hotel but we except for breakfast we ate outside.
I stayed in this hotel last week and had a great experience. It is perfectly located in order to explore the city but still on a quiet street. It has just been renovated so everything was brand new, very fancy and functional. The staff were excellent, very polite. The restaurant is quiet, perfect for relaxing lunch in the garden and the pasta was great.
When we came there was a reinnovation goung on and they gave us rooms that have naked cables inside, paint all over and a guy fixing the window outside early in the morning!!!we found a blouse in our room a day!the breakfast was till 10.00, we went 9.50 and they had everything taken away, whoever sat in the table enjoying his breakfast they went and took the plate from him. This is not 4 star..this is 0 star!!!!
very close to the main sites of Sofia; just a 20 minutes stroll to the Vasil Levski sports stadium; has own car service to take you to the airport @ a more competitive rate than the normal but reputable (known as OK taxis) taxi service; breakfast is a buffet with lots of choice; very helpful reception desk; modern soundproof hotel with all facilities
This is a good hotel located 15 minutes walk away from the main market street in Sofia. For its price and its location it offers a good value for money .Friendly staff in the reception but not in the restaurants (it has an Italian restaurant that we did not try), nice breakfast and a clean room. Rooms are in a reasonable size. There are definitely better choices in Sofia, but given the money that we paid it is ok. If you are in a budget trip it is a value for money hotel
The staff is very friendly and helpful and giving us recommendations about restaurants and local attractions. It is located on a quiet street making it easy to walk to many major sights in Sofia. Our room was cozy and modern, breakfast is delicious! Would definitely be back again
Mixed review! Good points: Friendly staff with good English. The most comfortable beds! The hotel is situated on a quiet street and is walking distance to all sites. Nice touch with breakfast in a bag to takeaway for our early morning flight. Good heating system in the rooms. Great shuttle service to the airport! Points to improve: Restaurant/breakfast room is far too small for guests. Had to wait around 15minutes for a table and no presence of staff around. No bath in the bedroom. We paid €70 for all you can drink and and eat at New Year's Eve. Felt this was overpriced and not worth it. Very cold (supposed to be hot) buffet food!! Surprised people weren't ill.
I stayed in the hotel for a business trip. The location is perfect, quite street but central, within easy reach of all sights and cheap taxis to business centres that are not in the city centre. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to my requests, room in the wing next to the hotel was great size and modern. The lobby is very modern with great design and the breakfast is quite good in variety for a city hotel.
I've been to some 5* hotels that doesnt have the service, food, rooms e.t.c. As yhe City Premier Collection hotel. I enjoy my stay here, everytime i am visiting the city. Delicious breakfast, perfect location, good prices - what else to expect :)
I visited this hotel for a business meeting. The architecture is like a labyrinth. It seems to have different wings and different elevators, since the hotel is based in two different buildings. The reception is very helpful. I found breakfast ok, but my colleague had diaroia. Don't it in the restaurant boufet cause they serve yesterday's.
The hotel is good though unimpressive. The hotel is just off a major street and within walking distance to all attractions. The rooms are simply furnished. A big plus is the abundant breakfast. A negative is the very weak wifi signal.
Very convenient hotel on a small and quiet street. However, very centralized and in a few minutes walking distance to central sites. Very easy to go around the main attractions of Sofia. Also not far from the airport and the hotel has a shuttle if you need one to and from the airport.
Modern spacious contemporary rooms with very comfy beds. Easy access from the airport, being around 20mins taxi with a fare of around 15-20Leva(€8-€10). We had a lovely included bfst on our rate and the staff were lovely. Hotel is around a 10min walk to Serdika Metro and the start of The Vitosha pedestrian mall. We would stay again at this hotel. Parking is available next door at a fee.
I was for a business trip in Sofia for 5 days and stayed in the City hotel. Good facilities. Room had a good bed and shower. Breakfast buffet had plenty of choice (very sweet cappucino :(). Staff was very friendly and helpfull. Very good location and wifi..so everything you need.
Good central location..ideal for short trips..helps to give you a chance to enjoy the city walk.. good breakfast varieties with outdoor facilities.. good staff members.. clean and neat rooms.. highly recommend to anyone
Let me start by saying the staff are really friendly and helpful, and the location is great easy for walkers, and taxis are extremely inexpensive for everyone else. The room was a little subpar/dated, but it is totally adequate. It was my first time in Bulgaria, so perhaps this is typical or maybe better than average accommodation by Sofia standards
It's really close to the city center. The rooms were clean and comfortable. As a wife to an Italiano i must say that the coffee on the breakfast was really good and aromatic and great start for your day!!
We stayed in City Hotel, BW Premier in Sofia for a night but it was so close to the city center that we didn't use any transportation in order to visit some of the many interesting sights. Cheap parking (5e per day), nice and clean rooms, good breakfast (always space for improvement), kind and helpful staff (english fluent). These are enough for us to make it our regular hotel in our next visit.
At the heart of the city with a very pleasant atmosphere. Friendly staff and high quality service. I recommend the restaurant for every type of occasion. Convenient location for meetings, in the modern atmosphere of the lobby bar with nice aromatic coffee. I highly recommend!
well... i like the location, i love the breakfast, i will surely come again. The whole new renovated lobby bar looks amazing. and the La vita e Bella's restaurant is simply amazing - really love the food. i've enjoyed my stay.
It was a good weekend passed in your hotel! The room was clean , and we appreciate it ! The breakfast was tasty and various! The hotel is near the center ! if you want to have a good weekend spend it in Bw premier city hotel! You will like it !!!!!!!!
Travelling to Sofia and seeing Sofia you are unsure of the standard of hotel you are booked into. The surprise of a modern hotel with modern decor which looked fresh, new and of high quality was a good start when entering the hotel. Reception staff first class with sufficient English for communication. Italian restaurant and bar provided excellent fare and the meeting rooms and corridors had all good quality furnishings. Rooms big enough with all necessary fittings befitting a modern hotel. Wi fi was good and no problems. Tea and coffee facility in room. Location good with main road facilities fifty yards away. Unlikely to be back in Sofia but very likely to give this hotel a very high recommendation.
Perfect place to stay if you want to be in a 5 minutes walk from the very heart of the city - the Alexander Nevski Cathedral, the Parliament and the shopping areas around. I enjoyed the restaurant with the delicious meals at Fair price, just as good as the breakfast. I've been in many 4* hotels true the capitals of Europe, but the price/quality here is really one of the best ive got. Thank you, will be back soon.
The Hotel itself is located 15-20 minutes walk to the city centre. Great when you drive a car and don´t want to get stuck in traffic in the centre itself. The staff is helpful and give you the service you need. The room is exept wall to wall-carpets on the floors clean and good enough. Breakfast is standard, with different breads to english breakfast. We got a room towards the street, which really is no problem because the streetlevel is so quiet, but we awoke early because of the cleaning staff starting to do their work in the hall, and the room was not that good isolated for sound.
Here are the positive feAtures of this hotel: great bedding, good location, good price, great shower, good internet. The safe did not work, and the shower soap dispenser was out. The staff was fairly responsive to our needs.
We arrive Rd in Bulgaria on a 2 week A/I holiday. But mid way we hire a car and made for the capital Sofia. The city hotel is in the heart of Sofia and everything is on your door step (in fact you can see Alexander Nevski Cathedral from the front door). The room a big and modern, and breakfast was what you expect in a place like this. Over all it's a great hotel for a city break. Good price, location and clean.
Following two weeks of overpriced, poor quality accommodation in Scandinavia it was a pleasure to arrive at the City Hotel in Sofia. Great location, just two blocks from the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the hotel is a great spot for leisure or business activities. The rooms are a good size with modern quality bathrooms. The breakfast buffet is also really good. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, booking tours and assisting with any requests. This hotel offers a value for money option in an interesting and under appreciated city. Highly recommend.
If you need a quiet, well-equipped hotel with an excellent service, friendly staff, clean and nice rooms, wonderful view, situated near historical places, it is the Best Western City Hotel. Highly recommended!
Very close to heart of the city, happy staff (Except the bellboy), good brekfast, low price, basic and useful room decoration. Complimentary tea, water, coffee, chocolate in the room. Taxi takes only 2 euros From the central bus station and 2 euros from Vitosha Street city center.
We were here, close to Alexander Nevski Cathedral at a good central location for around 270 euro with breakfast. Therefore you get a rather large and clean room, everything is functioning but with some protest, average breakfast, satellite tv with broad offer of stations, good WiFi and friendly and helpful staff. And a rather cheap shuttle service to the airport or good parking facilities when you come by car. To complete: a midrange fairly priced well located hotel. I can advice it.
I've been staying in this hotel since it opened on business trips. Its location is excellent, it is modern and clean, the staff is always helpful and speaks English well, the food in its cafe is quite good and the breakfast buffet excellent, and it is on a quiet street. Beyond all else, its prices are quite reasonable. I fully recommend it.
I stayed 4 nights for a business trip: 1.It was 88 Euro for night for 1 person. It is too expensive for these kind of standards. 2.The hotel room 110 was smelling. I applied the reception for this but did not offer anything! 3. TV does not work. 4.There was a spider in the bathroom. 5. Hotel has a restaurant like a disco and because of high music levels I could not sleep during the night. I called the reception after midnight!
Booked a family room with Sofa bed (on the drop down where bed preference is on Booking.com), Arrived to be told they did not have one and showed a room with a camp bed :( was offered a corner suite with a sofa bed but would be 19 euro extra...... Had to pay but felt aggrieved! Other than that the hotel was clean and modern and the restaurant was great.
Good location, not far from most attractions. Room is spacious, clean and silent. Breakfast is ok even if not rich as others. Hall and restaurant are nice. Anyway, room and bathroom interiors would really benefit from a renewal. Furniture and equipment show their ages and are not the same level as other Best Western Hotel around the world.
The hotel is average of what I have visited so far. Room is quite outdated and toilete should be repaired. Everything you touch has been fixed just not to fall off. TV is very small but programme selection is great. Personell is very friendly and helpfull. The food in the restaurant is average as well but the waiters are very friendly. Didnt have time to check other hotel facilities. Overall good hotel for short business trip and will probably visit again in future.
I own a few nice words about that place. I am coming to this hotel for 5-6 years already on 2--3 weeks time and stay 2-4 nights depends on amount of work i need to make in 2 companies i am managing. For these 5 years i had only nice experiences with friendly stuff. I really feels this hotel like my second home. Service is top quality, rooms are ok, whenever they have space i am getting apartment instead of standard room with no surcharge, Italian restaurant in the hotel have an excellent food. People working there are always very helpful, polite, professional and kind. The only problem from half a year ago is with parking - hotel has just a few parking places and i am often in trouble with it but the employees always find some solution (this is the only reason why i rated hotel with 4 points - otherwise it will be full 5 points from my side).
A small nice hotel. Cosy rooms witheverything you need. Breakfast nothing special. The coffee in the room is good but the one served for breakfast has no cofein in it . Hope they will change it. Staff really nice, quick check in and out.
This Best Western seems quite new, and simply offers good value for money. Rooms are fine, restaurant ok, bar area a bit dull, but decent. Service is not fully professional. Location in a quiet street and yet close to centre. Recommended for a short trip to Sofia.
We stayed there for 7 days, with 30 graduate students to celebrate. That was a real pleasure to stay there, every room felt comfy, breakfast was really good with real juice ! Staff was really kind with us, offered us shuttle to visit if we wanted to, always answering our question with professionalism. I highly recommend this BW, located 6min from Metro Uni St Kliment, and 12min from Vitosha District.
Very nice and hotel on a very quite street in center of Sofia. Nice, clean rooms. Good restaurant with tasty cuisine. Nice beds, even sleeping with kids;) good room service and nice reception. Modern look and nice design. Strongly recommend
The bed was very comfortable. Bathroom clean and well equiped. Due to my upgreade from double room to suite I had living and a bedroom. Staff was friendly. I cannot comment on the breakfast because I missed it. A small fruit basket was in the room upon arrival. Tea and coffee could be made in the room using a electric kettle.

Dear Sir/ Madam, Thank you for your positive feedback. I am glad, that you enjoyed the hotel amenities and hope next time, you will leave us 5 star review. Kind regards, Gergana Pavlova
It is a great location in the city centre but not if one has a disability (access to nearby central street is via a flight of stairs). I found the design of the common spaces strange and one of the wings is accessible after walking in a set of corridors which looks a bit like a labyrinth, with one slow lift servicing the wing - but the staff is nice and the restaurant offers good Italian fusion cuisine.

Dear Milena, Thank you for your review. I am glad that you liked our staff and the fare at our Italian restaurant and regret to hear that you did not enjoy the design of the common spaces as we recently renovated part of them with the help of an Italian architect and have received many positive comments from both regular clients and first-time visitors. We take clients'reviews seriously and will work on improving the lift service. We look forward to welcoming you again!
Very nice hotel, the room was good even if the bathroom is a bit small. Excellent breakfast. The crew should be a little more kind and happy. The hotel is situated close to St. SOFIA CHURCH. Downtown. A nice place at a very good price: only 65€ per night.

Location is very good and close to the cathedral and many nice restaurants in the side roads around the hotel. Staff were helpful and pleasant. The shuttle bus they run to the airport is very handy and reasonably priced.

My stay got off to a great start, I arrived about 9:30 am and the staff had no problem checking me in early. The staff was helpful and friendly. I stayed in a single room, which was not too small. The room was clean and modern. The hotels location is great, right off a main street with lots of shops, including a currency exchange. It is also only a few minute walk to St. Alexander Nevski square. On leaving I arranged for their airport shuttle to take me at 3:30 am to the airport. Not only were they waiting for me, but they had breakfast packed up for me in a bag. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Nice and cozy hotel in the central of city . Friendly staff . Reasonable price for comfortable stay in Sofia . Good location for sightseeing . Breakfast is not rich of various food but tasty and good quality , you will not stay hungry ;) . A plenty choices of restaurants are not far away .
We stayed there on 21.8-23.8. The decor of the hotel was amazing. The rooms were so clean and beautiful. The staff was really helpful. The breakfast was also perfect with an amazing variety of food. With only 10 euros we had also parking for our car. And it is located in the center of the city near the opera and the saint Alexander Levsky cathedral and not far from the statue of Sofia and Vittosa Street. I loved this hotel. I propose it without any doubt. Go there if in Sofia.
Arriving close to midnight after nine hours travelling from the UK via Frankfurt is possibly not the best introduction to any city or hotel, but the staff were helpful, cheerful and a meal was swiftly provided. The room was spacious enough and the bed comfortable. I was in Sofia for a conference based at the hotel, so I saw quite a lot of it. The decor involved lots of marble, wrought-iron and knick-knacks; a world away from "Best Western corporate" and none the worse for that. I think BW must have taken over an existing enterprise and I hope any future overhaul retains the character of the place. Very convenient for the city centre and the cathedrals, etc.
The location is definitely a big plus . The night we checked in we ordered some food from the restaurant it was good . Wifi is pretty good. The staff had a pleasant attitude,& helpful . Would definitely come back again . Felt quite comfortable. The only problem are the swinging doors , way too many . Get rid of the ones near the elevator, they are a hurdle than a convenience, especially when you are moving around with luggage.
There last week. Location central but a little less smart than shown in photos. Comfortable and value for the price. Staff friendly and reasonable English skills which is necessary for any visitor who does not have complete grasp of language. I have no complaints.I would stay again. No WiFi problems for me. Do let them know if you want an evening meal as tours are not always there and dining room service may be slow.
