Best Western Lozenetz Hotel

My standards were low when I came into my hotel room 305, and my first impression was: this hotel is okay!. We stayed for 2 nights and the bathroom was a bit old and some pieces were broken but overall clean. The room also seemed clean at first, but when we looked closer the door was covered in dirt, the carpet sticky and stained, white dirt spots on the under part of the extra bedlinnen-spread and there was dried puke dripped down on the side of the bedframe. Besides all this the linnen were clean and the mattress good so sleeping was fine actually. The breakfast was okay. The staff were helpful and friendly. So overall my experience wasn't too bad, it was OK and I didn't complain at all. But today I left to travel back with many many red itchy spots on my body and got it checked. These spots were bed bug bites!!!!! Please check out your linnen and mattress if you stay here, and otherwise think twice if you take the risk to stay here.

The most horrible experience, don't recommend it! The room was filthy, there was a very bad smell that lingered in my clothes after I've left, the heating didn't work and it was freezing. Every day I would kindly ask them to do something about this, at least give me an electric heater, nothing happened. The bathroom was so dirty, I don't think it was cleaned in the past few months, you could see a lot of hair and slimey stuff in the shower drainage. I would not even mention the food but what really made my stay there an awful experience was the fact that I had a pair of jeans stolen from the luggage I've left at the front desk until the evening on the last day there. I also had some money in the pockets. The conversation with the receptionist regarding my missing item was almost surreal, I decided there is no point in wasting my energy for this so I left even though initially I wanted to call the police. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this horrible place!

Another 5 star experience! I use this fine hotel very frequently on my travels, and each time, I enjoy gracious Bulgarian hospitality. I have a fondness for room 202, with its extensive balcony and views to Mt. Vitosha. Vasil was my front desk receptionist, and he did a fantastic job. He was efficient, kind, and accommodating. The room was my familiar surroundings, and the balcony was perfect on a relatively warm November day in Sofia. A healthy and hearty Bulgarian breakfast was included, and it was excellent. A wide selection of Bulgarian and European delicacies was presented, and it was perfect. I am pleased to report that one of my favorite hotels in Sofia still delivers high quality for an unbeatable price. Well done!

My flight to Sofia was cancelled by the airline, this hotel refused to cancel my room or refund me for something that was clearly not my fault, I planed to split my stay from here and another hotel. That other hotel refunded me no problem what so ever, best western are just money grabbers

Disastrous experience. Hard to believe how bad it could be. Changed first room offered due to smell and only view is of adjoining gray wall. Insisted on change and was offered attic (they called it their Junior Suite). OK first day but returned this evening again at 9pm and room still untouched. No towels, beds unmade and plates left. Had asked on three occasions for room to be cleaned but met with grunts etc. Never experienced this bad before. Will seek full refund (happy to give to charity) but can't let this appalling serving be forgotten

I got threatened and assaulted by the reception guy just for asking him to open the garage door. When I asked for the manager he got really angry and slapped me on my shoulder. I think I will never stay in a Best Western again.

This franchise hotel is a shame to Best Western brand! Toilets are filthy, shower cabin full of mold, bed sheets dirty. There was a horrible smell in the room and the air from the AC unit smells even worse, the carpet is stained. We also made a reservation for the underground parking and the staff did not let us in with the car until we checked-in and payed, which is pretty difficult since the hotel does not have any place to park the car outside for a few minutes. I have rarely seen such unpleasant and rude staff.

The hotel was booked as a BA 5 night holiday. Our room was tiny with a very dirty scruffy bathroom with rusty radiator. Lift was broken and no idea when it was going to be fixed. Receptionist unhelpful as would not change room. Shower flooded with water over the tray into the bathroom as the drain was blocked. Bedside light not working as wire was broken. Mirror worn. Supposedly a quiet room but it wasn't. Breakfast was dried up despite getting down to the restaurant early. Restaurant not open in the evening. In the wardrobe was a quilt with stains on it. Reported to BA who apologised and refunded hotel cost so we checked out after one night and rebooked another hotel.

Two things are remarkable in a positive way, about tis dive joint of a hotel in Sofia. First, the breakfast, as you paid for it when you reserved/paid for a room. The breakfast has a wide assortment of meats, cheeses, and sausages. Eggs, dry cereal and yogurt are available. Bread for toast can be made, mango juice and coffee machine coffee was available. Second on the hit parade is the location. In 5 minutes you can access the metro for a short ride to NKD or other destinations. Unfortunately, the negatives far out weight dropping you hard earned dinero on this joint. There is no bar or restaurant, even though it it advertised. The shower door (in our room) was on backwards and opened into the shower. If you had a chest/waist larger than 40 inches it would be a struggle, if not impossible to enter and exit the shower. The drain was glacial and you stood in 4 inches of water as you tried to escape the glass enclosure. There was a stand-up heat/ac unit that would produce potentially adequate cooling if the interior ambient temperature was 50 degrees. We asked for a different room with functional a/c and we were told they were full. That was curious as we saw no more than five people getting breakfast over a 3 day stay and very few exiting to better grub. We did receive a broken down (bent and hung over) oscillating fan than made the hot box survivable. The stench in the hallway leading to the room was thick with offal. Never abating. This place is a 1 star hotel at best.

Run down and unloved. It might have been a lovely hotel about 15 years ago but hasn't been touched since. In need of modernisation, curtains hanging off the rails, carpet stained. Great position for the town centre and just round the corner from the metro and Sofia has a lovely charm about it so will be back, but not to this hotel! We stayed 3 nights and didn't see any sign of a cleaner, no fresh towels, no toilet roll, just poor unfortunately.

The most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed in. The pictures say it all, this is months of dirt not just a forgotten area. A few friendly staff, but most need a lesson in hospitality. Breakfast was edible but on the last 2 days we couldn't face it as it was so repetitive. You have to plan your showers to make sure you get some warm water i.e don't shower before breakfast. We stayed there a week for a sporting event, the positive was the location to get to both the city centre and the event. Another positive was the beds/pillows were comfortable so you can get a decent night's sleep as long as there's no one next door as the walls are like paper you can hear everything!

We stay in this hotel already for 5 times. The reception staff some of them is very nice, but is one of them really rude, we ask for top floor, and not evan once we get a high floor, another thing is none of the welcoming you when you arrive, is like you don't feel welcome. Really strange , they work with people not with sheep . The breakfast is very good and the room are quite ok, the cleaning is also ok , but the blonde one avoid to clean . Please stop using this perfume that you are putting in the elevator and near to the rooms , is just awful.

This is a tremendous hotel and an even better value! I was looking for a great hotel, having stayed at other fine places like Sense Hotel Sofia the Balkan and the Marinela. In fact, the last time I stayed at Marinela and was walking to the Center,I passed this hotel. I was curious, as it looked very clean, and just the right size. I checked Trip Advisor, and was very impressed with how it was rated. Remembering this, I booked it, and at a great price! The check in was smooth, the room very comfortable and I also had a huge balcony with a partial view of Mount Vitosha! See the pictures accompanying this review. Everything was in order, and the bed was very comfortable. I had a stocked mini fridge, more impressively so that other fine hotels! Special thanks to Hashayar H. and Kremena K. for their great work on my behalf with check-in and arranging a taxi early in the morning for my return to Sofia Airport, as well as printing out my return ticket confirmation. My breakfast was delicious, and quite extensive. Velislava S. made sure everything was perfect. My room was impeccably cleaned and refreshed by Alona. All in all, I very highly recommend this great hotel!

Overall it was not a pleasant experience. Although the staff was kind, the rooms were of poor quality, the showers were clogged, the toilets non-functional and the AC was barely working. On a positive note I can say the Wi-Fi connection was strong and the breakfast was relatively nice. Sadly, for me it was a 2/5. Would not recommend.

Practical for 1 night, no more, worth of money, ask at the reception could be discount instead of booking through website., good location, walking distance to NDK, Mall nearby, park nearby. Bad hygiene, room air and linens smell awfully. pay extra for parking. good breakfast. staff polite.

Don't like the room cleaning, the breakfast was poor. There is no enough parking places. The bathroom smelled bad and there was not any shampoo or conditioner. But the location of the hotel is the thing that gain the point - well located near to the metro and bus station, only 10 minutes walking to the Vitosha Bulevard.

I have stayed there for 45 days. I have been staying lots of the hotel all over the world. Here is worst of worst hotel l have stayed so far. Firstly, the employees are rude. I felt sucks whenever l met the male waiter working in the restaurant. The way he looked at me was really resentful. I also complained about his manner to the owner. But, nothing was changed. Secondly, the cleaning service at the hotel was failed. They didn't clean the room enough. So, l complained this to the receptionist, what she told me was they could meet my standards since they felt stressed. All in all, l really regret booking there for 45 days

Was worried about some reviews I read about mold and outdated. My room was clean and bathroom was spotless. Staff friendly with good adequate breakfast. Few min walk to a metro as well. Cleaning lady super friendly. Great channel selection for TV. All in all highly recommend.

The room was cozy, people were very friendly. It is very close to the center of Sofia (ca 30 minutes by foot and about 10 minutes if you take the metro). I recommend everyone who travels to Bulgaria for a few days.

It was the worst experience I have ever made within a Best Western Hotel. As was given an uprgade due to my Diamond Status, I became a room at the last floor with stairs I had to clim on with my 2 big pieces of luggage, and entering the room i had to realise that the temperature was 40 Degrees or even more. I switched on the two air conditioning in the room and went out. 3 hours later i came back to find out thay neither of them was working properly. The room was hot as hell and i called the reception to give me any other room, just this boiling space which they want me to sleep in. The responce of the reception guy was "We are fully booked, I have no other room available. I also have no technician to take a look at the air condition". I called this whole thing pure terrorism - because sleeping under this temperature is not human at all. There was a terrible smell on the floor, i don't know wgere it came from. The room was also not cleaned properly, dust everywhere, hairs in the bathroom, one of the night lapms was broken, a cleaning towel was forgotten by the housekeeping in the bathroom, it wasn't a nice view. I am very disappointed from this one night there and appeal Beat Western to revise the standards in this hotel.

Fantastic hotel with great service and delicious food. We stayed at a suite with 3 beds on top floor with nice view above Sofia city. Love the Lozenetz area as it is one of the greenest in the capital. Would recommend strongly to stay at BW Lozenetz hotel for pleasure and business.

The worst customer service that I've ever experienced in all my life. I explained the Hotel management that I could not reach Bulgaria anymore because of the new cases of the COVID in Bulgaria. So I did not have choice, It was out of my control! I would have stayed in quarantine as soon as back to my country. After several emails, the managers defined the measures adopted by my country as 'rumors' saying 'We cannot refund you just because of this rumors'....lack of professionalism, arrogant with the only goal to get (I would say steal) money from me. So disappointed. Stay away from this hotel!

I have been here before ; it seems the management it is changed ; it is far more nice now, Vanina is nice and welcoming, the new reception lady is fair , polite , charming and honest and above all the chambermaid red haired lady which helped us to solve a small problem : she is a very decent , nice , honest , reliable , and I'll make sure when soon we'll be back a nice present for her will be due. Thank you very much

Terrible smell all over the place and the staff on the way out was extreamly umpolite. Housekeeping entered the room while we were there at 8:30 am without even knocking. We wanted to leave our suitcases next to reception while we are having a breakfast and a man from the staff said:' Not here!' in a very agressive way. Obviously there was no 'good morning', 'did you enjoy you stay' etc. If you hate yourself feel free to go to WORST WESTERN SOFIA.

Just waiting on transfer to sofia airport...stayed here for 3 nights and what an excellent hotel near the city centre approx 15 min walk...rooms are exactly what was advertised in the pictures and breakfast was good with plenty of choices...staff very friendly and this an ideal location for exploring sofia...their is a shopping mall approx 5 mins down the road which has many shops also a 6 min taxi ride or 30min walk their is a massive shopping centre the paradise center which has lots of shops and at very good prices...i would definitely return to this hotel for its location and amenties great value for money and a great base to explore sofia bulgaria

Stayed here for three nights. Approximately 5mins walk from European Union metro station. Large shopping centre and cheap prices literally on your doorstep. Just remember to exit the correct direction opposite to the large shopping centre. Slight hilly walk with broken paving stones stewn across the route. Easy to find as well lit and interesting glass front atrium. Checked in at 7pm and was glitch free. Front desk staff well mannered and explained all the basics for the hotel. Their emphasis here is the NO SMOKING policy. There is WiFi however did not use as had my own 4g data plan. There is no attempt to sell you any type of tours or taxi companies! Keyless card for entry into lift and the room. I was located at the back on first floor so stairs were the quickest option. As was cold night on entering the room hit by the warmth. Large double bed in room,clean and plenty of space to swing several cats!! Minibar stocked up and obviously priced at extortionate Western European rates! Bed possibly too low, floors carpeted, lots of light and very large window which opens easily for fresh air. Easy to draw curtains which are blackout. Plenty of power points to charge up all those electrical devices. Large TV in room with good selection of channels:only slight issue found the blue standby light too bright and always in my eye when trying to sleep!! . Excellent pillows firm bed and clean linen. Bathroom has shower only facility. Window to be opened for fresh air however could complement with an extractor fan unit. Excellent water pressure and temperature regulation of water outstanding. Water stays and drains away from shower. Clean wc wash basin and good supply of towels and toilet paper. Room service cleaning was always spotless and returning early afternoon the room had been made to immaculate standards. Excellent night's sleep with blackout curtains, occasionally disturbed by fellow guests banging their doors!! Breakfast is served on ground floor between 7am-10am. At 7am I was regularly the first one and every thing ready and well presented. Excellent selection of cheese meats vegetables breads pastry and cereals. Unfortunately not the option of piping hot food. Nevertheless very filling as any breakfast should be and is wholly self service. Improvements required for instant hot water other than the electric kettle. Spacious clean peaceful well lit eating space. Check out time is a more than generous 12pm. They also store luggage in office behind front desk: should be able to mark luggage and out of the way. Overall this is an outstanding location. Close by to all amenities. Excellent bus, metro and trolley bus links. Walking distance to even NDK! Overall very pleasant stay, though basic what else could you ask for. Well mannered staff clean and professional. Perfect for any stays of up to one week! Hopefully will return in the not too distant future.

The room was quite big, the staff at the reception very helpful. I had a big window and it was really nice. Breakfast was great, the location is central but during the night not the best part to walk on your own.

The hotel is with very good location, near underground, near Mall, near good restorants and situated in a very calm place. The stuff is very polite, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is very good. Everything is without remarks.

I sleep one night at this hotel ..was a big group we travel to greece and book rooms here.. the room was very good nice condition.. the problem was with check in.. we arrive tired at 11 pm night.. they want copy for pasaport for all person, baby, kids who sleep there, we need to stay to wait beacause was only one staff.. after they give us the key and go to the room,was upleasant!

The Best Western Lozenetz is in a convenient location, just a few minutes' walk from the nearest metro station ("European Union") and a pleasant 20-30 minute walk to the historical centre. It is, however, quite dated and a little shabby and not what you would really expect from the Best Western brand. It's on a busy road with significant traffic noise. The room was a decent size with a very comfortable bed and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The WiFi was excellent, and fast enough to stream Netflix. The bathroom was a little chilly in the morning but the shower was hot and powerful. Breakfast was adequate, though uninspiring. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. The only real problem was that there was a group of 12-year-old girls staying at the hotel and they were very noisy and disruptive from 6am in the morning. The hotel could - and should - have put them all on a floor of their own to avoid disturbing other guests: however, they gave me a room right next to some of them and the noise through the wall and in the corridor outside was a major irritation.

We arrived in Sofia on the first day of our tour. good location and easily reachable from the city via metro. able to walk into town about 20 minutes. Breakfast reasonable choices. tourist information readily available.

The problem I would want to inform fellow travelers about is a very serious smell problem present everywhere in this hotel. Linkages, bad plumbing, dampness result to annoying, obnoxious smells that make you want to leave the hotel the soonest possible. It does not have anything to do with personnel who seem to do their work properly. It is a construction problem of an aging hotel needing badly attention from Best Western. Obviously it is impossible to go there again despite the good price and location. Breakfast was OK.

Booked and PAID via Booking , I was traveling for 6 hours , desperate for shower and bed and When I arrived I was told that they don't have room for me , and no one even bother to contact me , the lady on the reception explained that she wasn't sure if I'm coming tonight ....

We stopped 2 nights here and paid extra to use a parking space in the secure underground car park. It cost €10 a day and there are only 7 parking bays so make sure you reserve a spot in advance. Check-in was nice and quick and all staff were friendly and spoke good English. Our room was small and had an odd smell. It could well be a cleaning product but it was quite strong. We decided not to have our room cleaned on the 2nd day (extra BW reward points) and the smell faded. The bed was very comfy and we slept very well here. Wifi was good and the TV had lots of channels. We were surprised to find a very explicit x-rated channel, I'd be furious if my kids had found it, so double check with reception that there are channel locks in place if you bring children. We had breakfast on both mornings and it was superb. Something for everyone. All in all this is a nice hotel, ideal for visiting the city

Great service and value for money Friendly staff, clean, great location in the heart of Sofia. Recommend highly. Definitely would stay again. Room was large with surprisingly comfy beds. Our room faced a busy road but we did not have any issues with noise.

Staff are helpful and the location is ok( 20mins walk to the centre or a couple of stops on the metro) but the hotel is tired with gloomy bedrooms and an uninspiring breakfast. But we got a cheap deal through a BA sale so expectations were quite low! Definitely wouldn't return

Suite was not good. Didn't meet my expectations. Didn't look like a suite. Room had some points were the ceiling was low. Odor in room. Dirty carpet on the floor. Suite accessible by stairs (from the 5th to the 6th floor)

I stayed with a group of friends and we all agreed this hotel was lovely and excellent value for money. The rooms were very comfortable, the reception staff were so helpful and welcoming, and the breakfast buffet was great! Would definitely stay again, thanks for a wonderful welcome to a beautiful city.

We booked this hotel as part of a holiday package as the reviews and photos posted seemed reasonably positive. However, when we arrived we were given a room which had two single beds, so asked to move. The room we were moved to had a weird smell and we started to feel unwell. We spent one night in this room with the window wide open, before realising the Aircon was mouldy, with mould also growing behind. We asked to move rooms again and were given a room which had an even worse mould problem! We were due to stay here for 7 nights but after contacting the company we booked the holiday through, we were moved to an alternative hotel. Supposedly the hotel has 3* but after staying here we fail to see how this is the case and believe it should be shut down by environmental health. The room we were moved to, was on a different side of the hotel which leads us to believe the hotel has a serious damp problem. When mentioning to the receptionist, she seemed confused so we showed her photographs and offered to discuss it upstairs in the room, but she declined. She did not seem concerned when we checked out only 1 night into a 7 night stay. Please do not book this hotel as you could become seriously ill. A complaint will be going into Best Western shortly.

The rooms are huge and very clean although nothing special about them, just what you need. Good value for money. Breakfast was ok, all the basic things were available but could have had more options. The hotel is situated in a nice and quite neighborhood near the center of Sofia, but the building and general facilities of the hotel are very poor and provide an image of disorientation (eg. there were left over chairs and desks in the stairs of our floor and in the walkway).

Spent one night here before we set off on our trip around Bulgari and Greece.Arrived mid day Sunday took around 30min from the airport. Rooms where a good size comforatble and clean. Excellent breakfast. Good service Parking was easy but then it was a sunday Easy access to the centre of town if you want to explore alittle, Big shopping mall 5min walk away. All in all good choice when staying in Sofia

The hotel staff were completely unhelpful when I arrived on a Sunday night and there was a mistake with my reservation. We discussed at reception what happened and both sides acknowledged the situation, so I asked for options to be offered be me, however the staff at reception showed no flexibility whatsoever. This was extremely frustrating for me, because I needed accommodation for 1 night in the city, I was travelling solo and didn't have other people to help me out. The hotel staff offered no particular solutions apart from me paying double for a new room which was unacceptable. I also asked if I can talk wth a manager, but I was told that the managers are not available on Sundays and they can talk to them tomorrow (obviously no option for me, as I needed to stay the night). Overall, this is hotel managed by the lowest local standard, without any customer orientation, where the management prefers a short-term cash gain than a happy and returning customer potentially investing much more in future travel. There are much better places to stay in Sofia, with better trained staff, and high class customer service.

Clean, comfortable, hotel well placed near metro, no frills but excellent breakfast, good sized room with panoramic view of Vitosha mountain, very comfortable bed, small hotel but really quite pleasant.

We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed it. The service was great and the overall experience very good! Reception and room service was excellent - helpful and super fast. The hotel is 5 mins away from the metro station and a total of 10 minutes from Vitosha - the main shopping district of Sofia. Our room was spacious and well-heated. One thing I would change would be the amenities which were okay in general but less than what I expected.

Having used accommodation services of this hotel several times I think the hotel deserves recommendation. The service is always on the same good level. Staff speaking English well is always very polite and nice. Late arrival at the hotel is not a problem at all. Rooms were always clean and well prepared. Breakfast served in a small dining room does not belong to the richest ones, but you will get satisfying standard. If you prefer a nice view I can recommend room with Windows oriented to St. Naum Blv. offering a view of mountains close to Sofia, the best probably are corner rooms at the SW corner of the building. Due to main street it can be a little bit noisy in the morning, but the view is worth. Rooms oriented to the sides and back suffer from being very close to neighbour buildings.

The hotel gave us a great experience. The 5 rooms we booked were nice, big and clean. The beds were very comfortable. We experienced the staff as very friendly and helpfully. Especially the young barman of the lobby bar tried his best to make our stay rememberable! The breakfast was rather limited, though satisfactory. Overall, the hotel is a great place to stay while exploring and enjoying Sofia.

Room was very clean and decorated tastefully and recently. Staff were polite. Breakfast very good choice. Area is good, with a great selection of restaurants nearby, especially Soul Kitchen. Parking adequate. Metro nearby into the centre, and easy to use. There were no stray dogs in the area!

Close to the public transport (European Union metro station), Clean room and comfortable, front office and breakfast as expected in 3-star hotel. WIFI in the room working very well Good value for money.

The hotel have a bad smell ..... We pay 2 night befor 6 Months We arrived at 21:00 but thehotel smell so bad so we performed check out at 01:00 The hotel dont want give us our money back .....i dont came back to this hotel never even if it will be free

Avoid to park in the subway garage. All the rain and toilet pipe are draining on the cars. My car motor and trunk hood was affected and the stain attack the paint lacq and doesn't go away. They accept to give me my money back but just for the parking means 10 euro. I have to go to service and polish the car and make a special treatment that coast me around 50 euro.

The hotel is nice. We were for just 2 nights, it is far from city center. The room was clean, breakfast was ok and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Would recommend going for a short 2 night trip, if you are there for more than 2 nights then it is preferable to stay in a hotel close to the city center.

It indeed can only be hypthesized in the classroom of the Department of Psychology how first impressions can be flushed down the toilet, but this hotel has exercised it in practice. Check-in was swift and friendly, front office was always helpful, rooms were spacious and clean, location is fair (close to the city). Yet, missing the breakfast by 5 minutes triggered the most upsetting moment. We were humiliated in front of other guests for not making it on time, and although we finally managed to get a cup of coffee and some pastry, they were handed over to us in such an IMPOLITE and HOSTILE manner that the otherwise spotless Bulgarian hospitality (and the industry built upon it) would be deeply ashamed. Such behavior is incompatible with any standards, let alone those of a three-star Best Western. Otherwise, all was good, but this small experience on a Sunday morning brought clouds and thurderstorms into our sensitive souls. A more circumspect management is needed when it comes to hiring staff. Still, the hotel is recommended without any harsh feelings (although we never got to know how the breakfast was... ;) Cheerful globe-trotters from Hungary and Algeria ~ a gentle kiss to you all, unsuspecting would-be sojourners.

Stayed in the suite, roomy, fresh and much more beautiful than expected. The service in the lobby was friendly and informative, they helped us with calling a taxi to the hotel (Very fast every time) as well as with maps and food late at night when I was drunk and sad because of a bad experience elsewhere. Breakfast is served from 7 to 10 and it was way better than expected as well. All from eggs, bacon, yoghurt to dessert and fruit. Also a big Thank you to the man who helped me with the coffeemachine. I give this hotel the warmest recommendation and I Thank you all for having me with all of my heart.

Very helpful staff and a nice, clean and comfortable room. The location is great, right next to the metro to the city center and to the airport. The breakfast is really good and varied. Only downside is the noise as the walls seem to be quite thin and if you have noisy neighbors like we did, you can hear everything that they're watching on the TV.

The whole group liked the hotel. The rooms are tidy and clean. The staff is polite and nice and the front desk are very helpful if you need some assistance with something. The location is at a growded street but it is close to the subway station which is a plus.

Front desk team was extremely helpful and accommodating. We needed a taxi at 3;45am to go to the airport and they made sure we got it. We also got breakfast to go which was very nice. Our room was clean and comfortable. The only thing is that the hotel is located on a very busy street (traffic). You need to take the subway to go downtown, which is fairly easy since nearest station is a few minutes walk away.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and thought it was good overall. The location is good as there is a metro station (European Union) nearby which will take you into the centre quickly. It is also possible to walk and that took us about 25/30 minutes and its a fairly easy walk plus you can walk right down Vitosha boulevard into the centre. The hotel room was a little tired but it was comfortable overall and we had a good sleep. The hotel staff was very helpful and the hotel serves inexpensive food and drink. The breakfast was also decent both mornings. There's a park near the hotel, near the National Palace of Culture, which has a piece of the Berlin Wall if that interests you.

I stayed in this hotel with my wife during a motorcycle trip all around Europe. First off all I confirm that you can park your bike in front of the hotel and it is very safe. Room was clean and very comfortable. We have our dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was perfect. Local red wine was extremely good. Staff can speak very good English and they are very helpful. Location is good not so far from center. Wifi is okay. I have no negative issue and wish to stay again. Sorry I do not have any information for car parking

We stayed for 3 nights in November Arriving early the hotel staff were very helpful and managed to get us a room straight away ( enabling us to book in early) each day there was a different member of staff at reception – all were friendly and helpful and spoke very good English. The rooms were adequate, clean and fresh. The showers were very good. Location wise – it is on a main road ( most rooms seemed to overlook it ( no nice views) The area appears a little dated/residential but it is only a 3-4 minute walk to the nearest underground station ( the underground is cheap and very modern) which takes you into Vitosha Boulevard and centre of city within 5 mins Only issue was the breakfast, sometimes, with only one staff member the trays were not replenished and some of it was not as fresh as it could be – stale rolls etc. As a stop-over hotel – it is very reasonable and for ease of access to city excellent. Not celubrious but for those travelling on a budget - Ideal

We were a group of four adults in a suite. The rooms were clean, towels fresh daily, bed linen and beds perfectly clean and comfy. Lots of natural light because there were windows all around. We only had a problem with the heavily leaking shower. We supposed that we were there in the middle of the refurbishment of the hotel but it did not bother us much except for a very strong unpleasant smell in the corridors. Look out for breakages, they are heftily priced. Othwrwise breakfast and restaurant meals were just lovely. Metro and Sofia Centre are within walking distance. It was a wise choice and at a fantastic price.

Service level has gone down and needs improvement , need to maintain Best Western standards, average hotel good for 1 night stay, restaurant and breakfast quality needs to improved. Many things like towels etc have gone old and need to be changed

We booked the Best Western Lozenetz Hotel for our 3 night stay in Sofia. The hotel is in a great location, about a 10 minute walk from the city centre. The rooms were clean and well equipped with toiletries, iron, hairdryer etc. The staff were lovely, very polite and helpful. We ate in the restaurant one evening and ordered room service on another, the food was nice and very reasonably priced. Although we were at the front of the hotel, where there is a busy road, we didn't hear the noise of the traffic. We would definitely return to this hotel again. Sofia itself is a wonderful city with some beautiful architecture and parks and then a modern city centre with lots of fantastic shops, bars and restaurants. Well worth a trip.

We are on a tour, and the company selected this hotel for our group. I love Best Westerns anyway and this hotel did not disappoint. Yes, the carpeting in the room probably could stand to be replaced, but the room was clean and well appointed. The buffet breakfast is outstanding, the lobby is inviting. Great stay.

Hotel is too close to city centre and metro station. Rooms are clean and hotel is warm enough. The gentleman at the reception who made our check in was very helpfull. We would like to thank him for his helps as well. Also Parking is not free , daily parking fee is 8 euro.

Modern hotel, small reception a bit slow booking in. Huge room on sixth floor lifts only went to fifth, awkard spiral stairs to sixth. Wonderful city views through large windows, lots of ligh. Did not enjoy a good night sleep traffic noisy throughout night and large aircondition unit adjacent to room did not help. Could not recommend this hotel if want a good nights sleep.

Hotel front-desk is most unprofessional. They booked sightseeing tour for me with one company - gave me address of another company -In morning, Hotel arranged a cab to take in the location to catch Bus, where the bus company does not exist. It is terrible stuff for a first time visitor to the city. Some stuffs are impolite and service quality is poor.

We had a great time at the hotel, the staff was very helpful and the room and facilities were very good. We were on our vacation and the hotel gave us a nice Suite which was a happy surprise. We had an early morning flight to catch, the staff helped us with all our special needs.

It's a short distance from the metro. So handy for getting around. Some rooms have balconies which are large. Hotel itself is quaint ,but a little outdated. Food was good and drink was fairly priced. The hotel lacks a bit of atmosphere I think. Staff pleasant and ready to help. Rooms clean and tidy. Mini bar reasonable

Just returned from one night stay,great staff and very clean although a little dated for a BW standards. To walk anywhere is about 10 to 15 min walk on some very uneven footpaths and In some places quite dangerous if your unsteady on your feet or have a pushchair, but worth it once there. Breakfast very good and plentiful. Shame they charge 8euros per night when other BW in Sofia are or were free when we stayed last year. After the negatives we still enjoyed it and got a free upgrade for being customer of the day.

Stayed here as it was the nearest hotel whilst visiting family. Nice breakfast room serving a European breakfast every morning. Take British tea bags if you like a decent cuppa! Room okay, clean and nice comfy beds. We had a family room which was nicely set out - bathroom between the 2 sleeping areas. Room was very warm and had to keep windows open which made it noisy in the mornings. A bigger bar area and/or more seating in the reception were a miss due lack of space. Easy walk into the city centre from hotel (20min-30min) and handy for the subway system station a few minutes walk away. Decent mall next to the subway which sells most things and a small food court on the top floor. Free walking tour of Sofia is brilliant just leave a tip at the end. English is spoken by most people and we didn't have any language barriers in hotel or out and about. Great city for a short break!

Very nice hotel, near to metro station and one station from the heart of the city. Friendly staff, good internet connection, good breakfast. In a fancy part of the town, so you won't mistake. Clean and comfy rooms, comfy beds and nice sleep. :)

Am enjoying our stay in Sofia. The hotel Lozenetz is very comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast is excellent. A reasonably priced hotel, near to the centre. Sofia has lived up to all expectations as a great place to visit!

Location: Great within 5 minutes walking distance from the metro and right next to a large shopping center Service: Very good and very professional, the receptionists spoke very good English Breakfast: Very good buffet selection overall Room: Very large and clean, comfortable bed, had a large terrace as we requested and you could see the mountains from afar - my only problem was that it was too hot and stuffy in the room even though it was March and we switched off the heating. I would have wished that I could switch the air conditioner on cold because sometimes I could barely sleep at night, but unfortunately I was told that since it was March only heating was available. Overall, a pleasant stay and it was good value for money so I would stay there again.

I rented almost the whole hotel for an event and the service was awful. Mixed reservations, I needed to sleep in a low-class room for 2, instead of apartment for 3, because the were overbooked. Very old hotel and not very clean. There is lots of rust everywhere. I guess they advertise it as a 4*, but it's 1 at most. If possible stay away! For wi-fi maniacs - you will have access at the lobby only.

The hotel was very good. We had a spacious room called junior suite, with one double bed and a single bed. We stayed here twice, based on the good experience from the first visit. The breakfast was nice, a lot of choice, both continental and also typical Bulgarian breakfast food. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. The hotel has a garage, which is needed in that area in Sofia. The Internet connection in the lobby is very good. In the hotel rooms it was a bit weaker, but still useful. We will certainly use this hotel again, when we are in Sofia.

Nice and cozy hotel with all the comfort, excellent beds, very clean, quiet although quite central. Well located and easy to find, walking distance to bars and restaurants. Good breakfast and awsome home made cookies.

I travelled once for work to Sofia and this was a great place for a brief stay. The rooms are not very quiet, but of course, it's right next to the road so that's understandable. The rooms are compact but very useful for a brief business stay. Especially for man who don't have much luggage, the rooms are good size, very clean and have everything necessary like bath robes and toiletries. Very nice restaurant with good-quality food.

I reviewed the Lozenetz about two years ago and everything that I said then still stands. However, the hotel is now part of the Best Western chain and, if anything, is even better. We had bookings for two separate nights a few days apart. No fault of the hotel - but there were some technical issues with electricity on the date of the first booking. However, we were smoothly re-located to the sister hotel - the Art Plaza, with a free taxi service from the Lozonetz and back the next morning to pick up our car, which we had left in the underground car park. We returned to Sofia five days later for our second booking and everything was fine. We were accommodated in Room 405, which is a massive corner room that has recently been completely re-furbished (as have all other rooms) and were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the furniture, fixtures and fittings - and by the decor. Probably the best "new touch" of all, though, was the complementary fruit platter and bottle of wine left as part of the standard service (we checked) .. and not as an extra for the issue with our earlier booking. Very good buffet breakfast in the tastefully furnished dining room with even more choices than we have experienced during previous visits. No hesitation in recommending the Lozenetz to anybody seeking a quality hotel in an excellent location for exploring and enjoying the city

Me and my girlfriend stayed here over 2 nights. We were given a nice surprise on arrival as we were upgraded as part of the hitels guest of the day they run. Room was spacious and looked newly refurbished. Bed was of a really high standard, I didn't want to get up the next day! Bathroom was clean and shower was good, no problems with water temperature or operating etc. The room had a mini bar which was reasonably priced also. Only problem I had with the hotel was the door opening and closing. It was really difficult doing each action and quite annoying!! Location was really good and the staff really helpful. If stay here again if in Sofia. Excellent value for money for what I would say is a hotel better than any Best Western I've stayed in!!

Booked into hotel as part of a tour. Comfortable, clean, certainly acceptable - but not memorable . Quiet location. Breakfast buffet was fine. Hotel is at end of a large park (starting close to city centre) with attractive areas.. Possible to walk to city centre, but takes 30 minutes plus.

Location is very good and hotel is a basic nice option. It has a very small lobby area not appropriate for meetings. Rooms are good size and very basic. Carpets could use a better cleaning or renewal. Had a street facing room so a bit more noise than I would like... Better off in a room facing back.

The hotel is very close to the metro station and to the city center. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. The service is good and the terrace brings and extra plus to this location as you can have good food, drinks and relaxing time.

The location was close to the European Union Metro Stn. Breakfast was also good. Receptionists were polite, attentive and helpful. The hotel is old. It was renovated to an extent (windows, halls, stairs) though problems remain. The room we were staying (#207) lacked soundproof, so we could hear the neighbor's talks, coughs, sneezing, etc., as well as everything from the corridor. From the right sight, we had the staff room which became very noisy from 7:30 a.m. when the cleaning personnel got assembled. Besides, these two rooms have a shared balcony (terrace) where the staff used to chat while smoking before starting their job. Every morning we unwillingly "enjoyed" the staff's get-together as its noise and cigarette smoke filled our room from the through the doors and the window. Please notice that not only the room but the entire floor (building?) is non-smoking. Another problem appeared on a rainy night. Because of poor renovation quality, the window in the room has a faulty water drain system. When raining, the water from the drain pipe is leaking. As it falls down on the tin base, it makes a noise similar to a drum beat (no joke). The noise was unbearable. We could get asleep only after putting a book obliquely to the window base to reduce the energy of falling drops. Fortunately, that night was our last in the hotel, so we could survive. Surely, the hotel management either has to solve the problem or at least provide guests a library of books to be used for noise reduction on the rainy nights.

As I said, here again! Again, we use this as a base as we swing in and out of Bulgaria. We were back in the same as last time - aircon was working well against the 35 deg heat outside. The room was just the same - clean but a little careworn Please - somebody hang those curtains properly! Oh yes whilst you're at it - a door on the shower cabinet - as it was intended ?? Minor moans - but then again for the price you can't complain. Nice bed, comfy, well stocked mini bar, clean towels - you can't really complain ( I know I am - re curtains and shower) but these stop it being excellent in its class. Breakfast was the same as ever an eclectic mix of Balkan goodies - for the first time I saw mekitsi ( a kind of dough deep fried - not a doughnut ....but with home made jam and yoghurt they're very nice) but they weren't the best. Anyway, great little hotel - always a pleasure to stay there - good value. Book with confidence

Location is very central in relation to the Metro. The City Centre Sofia Mall is within reasonable walking distance, brand new and has a variety of shops - it has a smart supermarket too! The Hotel's rooms were spacious and comfortable and cosily decorated as if you are at home. The bathroom was brand new and very clean! The breakfasts are really worth mentioning with the variety of foods available. Staff were very helpful too.

I am currently staying at this hotel. It is very well maintained and serviced. It is located at a quiet residential area but close to Metro station which is about 5 minute walk and the main sight attraction of Sofia can be reached within 10-15 minutes of the subway ride.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 days. It is located close to the city Center and easily accessible by metro, two stops from the center. Also at a walking distance to two big parks where you can take a long walk. It is simple, don't offer much for breakfast but clean and certainly good value for the money. Staff are also welcoming and helpful.

Husband and I had been to Plovdiv for 5 days before getting the train over to Sofia. We tool a taxi from the station to the hotel - its about 8km by road and cost roughly £2.50 so not too expensive by UK standards. The hotel looks a little shabby from the outside although the reception area was clean and welcoming. The receptionist was very friendly and efficient and spoke very good English. The room was fine - large comfortable bed, blackout curtains - but could probably have benefited from new net curtains and carpet. The air conditioning worked well which was a godsend as it was so warm. The bathroom was ok but the shower tray had a bit of a leak. That said, the water pressure was good and the shower worked well. Breakfast was great - good selection of hot and cold food plus fruit, yoghurt, pastries and baklava. It's not quite the standard I would have expected from a Best Western hotel, but the location is good. The metro stop (European Union) is 2 stops from Serdika where the metro lines cross and 6 stops from the railway station. Good value for money overall. I'd definitely stay again.

The hotel is excellent. I would recommend for any person (business or family travelers) that appreciate a kind service with l comfort for a reasonable price. They offer a family room with a double bed and two single. I was in the 4th floor and it was a quiet sleep. The reception was more than attentive helping me to find a rental car, asking for taxis with many smiles and lot of kindness. The facilities are very clean and well conserved. Comfortable bed, 4 pillows available. Soft towel (it is always a hard thing to find) and cozy decoration. I felt home. To a perfect end, delicious breakfast with different options of bread, fruits, beverages, eggs, ham, cake, cheese and desert (baklava). Fantastic!

I was scheduled to stay at the Best Western Art Plaza right off of Vitosha Blvd and in the city centre. After traveling from Chicago to Sofia for more than 24 hours, I arrived at the Art Plaza to the abrupt notice that I would have to stay at a different hotel. This new hotel was the Lozenetz. The Lozenetz was outside of the city center and very difficult for me to navigate as I am a first time solo traveler. Everywhere I wanted to go, I had to take a taxi, and I felt it affected my trip very adversely because I was really hoping to stay in the xentwe. I arrived at the Lozenetz only to find out that my room was only RESERVED under the card I used, but it had not been charged and I was expected to pay in person. I went through two hours of struggling to get in contact with my bank 5,000 miles away on my cell phone wifi because they would not allow for any other method of payment: not an over the phone payment, not an online payment. I was extremely tired and frustrated with the entire situation, and the Lozenetz offered little to no explanation for the switch of hotels nor the credit card situation. This hotel is not at all accommodating. The hotel itself was clean and in acceptable condition, however their service and hospitality to a young struggling first time traveller was so disappointing. The apathy of the staff of a hotel rated #18 out of 127 was appalling.

In this hotel you can stay for business or leisure and there is not difference at the quality. Good location in Lozenetz distr., one of the nice area in Sofia, green and qui?t. You can reach the downtown by car for 5 min and by walking 15 min. Very good breakfast, very smiling stuff and clean room . You can stay to realx

Dec, 2015. One night spent. From the airport you can go by subway, what is new and very cheap. Airport ticket officer gave me a map with metro ticket too , so it is nice. You can find the hotel easy from metro station ( you can find station name in hotel's web page under "contact" ) . Clean with nice design, the bed was pretty comfortable. Bathroom is ok too. Close to hotel is a Mall ( shopping center ) and you can find others by subway. Nice surprise, people speaks English well , I mean if I ask a help from anybody on street ( young or elder ) can speak English more or less. The staff was friendly. In all I suggest.

about 10-15 mints from the center, really agod hotel , modren room with all the faceliteis, very good bad, very good breakfast, excellent stuf ; they helped me in the receiption what ever i asked, close to the hotel thre is small mal, and few resturants, even metro stastion is close

I have to say that the main thing I thought was exceptional about this hotel is its group of cleaning ladies. They were always so pleasant and tidied and cleaned the room every day. The staff in general were all very helpful, especially the receptionist girl who checked me in and the guy who checked me out and ordered a taxi for me. One or two of the other reception girls could learn to smile more, it might make them more approachable. Breakfast was always nice, with a wide range of continental choices from cereals to fruits and drinks. I was also provided with a 10% discount voucher for using in the restaurant upon arrival as well. The room itself was very spacious and all floors have superior WiFi speeds.Not only that, but the building is in very close proximity to the European Union Metro Station, and it's also only a short walk to the city centre as well. The hotness of the room on the whole was quite unbearable at times though, and turning on the air conditioner didn't really help - it sometimes kicked out heat instead of cool air. Opening the window didn't provide so much relief either. One minor problem is the elevator, as there's only one and it's quite small. Personally, I didn't mind taking the stairs, although it could prove to be a bit of a hassle for others.

I've written about this place before. All I can say is, that was before it became a best western. Having stayed in best westerns many times, they rarely have a bad hotel - that's probably why they now include the Hote Lozenets? Can't fault the place - the price has gone up though - it's £35 a night! Seriousmy, compare this to a tired travel lodge at twice the price? No competition! Clean and functional, free WiFi and breakfast, what else do you need?? Breakfast is buffet style -- simple but ample. Walk down the road to the main shopping mall - or double to the right and take a leisurely walk down hill past the university buildings to Graf Ignative street and on to Popa (key meeting place for the city centre) central and cheap. Ok if you're facing the road it can be a little noisy if you have the window open - this time we're in 304, last time 204 (balcony) and before that the same on the 5th floor. Really, you can't complain for the money - even if you paid twice the price you couldn't complain. It suits us well for a bsse when we do a flying visit. Book without risk - 4th time - always good.

Room was fairly large and clean. Very warm though, and despite turning off all heatingl that I could, I had to sleep w the balcony door open. Street noise would have bothered me if it wasn't for my excellent earplugs. Hotel has the usual slightly dated decor and cheap perfumed smell that I have come to associate w Bulgaria. Staff was helpful enough when engaged. About 20 min walking distance from the centre, but the metro and taxi are both cheap options. I would recommend if you get a good deal. Breakfast buffet is mediocre at best.

The hotel rooms were nicely decorated with comfortable beds. Decent breakfast. It's just a few minutes to European Union Metro station. I'd highly recommend staying there and enjoyed my stay very much.

Hotel is located nereby the main street so it is very noisy in the room. Rooms are nicely equipped and pretty large. Service and staff OK. Place is clean; WI-FI working well. Elevator is very small; there fore is you travel with large bags, you should take it one by one and this can take some time. Ratio price vs. offer is honest. If you want to spend few nights in Sofia and pay little but still be OK is this a place to call. Downtown is cca 30 minutes walking distance.

This hotel offered quality accommodation on budget for my 5 nights stay. The only downside is wifi, which was intermittently cutting off and also different access points for each floor makes it a bit clumsy. Also the breakfast gets a bit repetitive as the same menu items is repeated each day (only the table positions changes) . So that may made me wonder whether they are replenished or recycled?. Overall a quality hotel from Best-western group with real value for money and very close to the metro station (4 min walk). Recommended.

This is a classic three stars hotel but the renovated rooms deserve four stars. Clean and modern. Very good breakfast. Free and fast Wi-Fi. Free parking in a small underground garage and a few parking places in front. The location is good, 10 minutes walk to a shopping mall and a metro station. A good price-quality ratio.

We found the room to be clean and functional, and the bed afforded a good night's rest. The buffet breakfast was varied, and you can enjoy it inside or on the veranda in the rear. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. There is an ATM practically across the street; this was particularly helpful since this was our first stay in Bulgaria. A modern and quite inexpensive subway line is a short 5-minute walk down the street, and it is only two stations away to get to the city center. If the weather is decent, the city center is a reasonable 20-minute walk. We did both and recommend using the subway.
