"Old but nice"
An old hotel with nice and helpful staff. Rooms are clean and nice, but used. Located only a few minutes from the city and stores. Hotel is located in beautiful nature, and with a lot of attractions nearby. I can recommend this hotel if you are to an old hotel with history.

"Very charming - very good!"
Spending a few days at the hotel Gl. Skovriddergaard in Silkeborg was a really nice experience. We got a junior suite in the oldest building with a lot of space - and tons of charm! The hotel is located in the outskirts of what is said to be Denmarks largest forest, which in this case means numerous possibilities for outdoors life - with a lot of idyllic paths along many small lakes. For us, this was perfect! Add to this a very good kitchen, and a friendly and most helpful staff - and it goes without saying that we will come back!

"Quiet and Restful"
Spacious rooms with terraces overlooking a beautiful sculpture park. Very convenient to the attractions in the Silkeborg area -- especially museums and the park. Probably a good 15 minute walk into the center of town. Breakfast choices in the morning are ample and delicious. Filled with lots of local and regional art. Had a nice covered area that allowed us to sit outside even in a deluge!

"An oasis"
On our tour of Jylland it was a welcome relief to arrive at Gl.Skovridergaard. Beautiful buildings in an equally beautiful setting. As we brought our small dog we were in the original house across from the main building. There was a clean bowl set out for him on a white cloth - very nice touch! The rooms were spacious and elegantly furnished with a comfortable bed and fluffy duvets. By Danish standards the bathrooms were also quite good, although the big soap dispenser in the shower makes it feel a bit like a school trip. This should be replaced by small toiletries like the shampoo/conditioner. We had dinner in the Orangerie which was excellent, service a bit too slow, though. Breakfast was great with a well laid out buffet and the best kanelsnegle/pastries, I've had in a long time. Shame that they only offered thermos coffee, and when asked for cappuccino/latte sent us to the lobby bar, where no one was around to make one. With everything else so good it seems strange not to offer a better cup of coffee. Location is great - walking distance to the Jorn Museum and beautiful lakes. Very good value for money. Very clean.

"Perfect"
Perfect hotel , if you are looking for something more quiet. Our room was comfortable and spacious. There´s a nice lobby to spend night in. Staff cared really well and were willing to advise also some trips. Didn´t try their restaurant, maybe next time.

"Great place to stay and a super friendly staff"
This place is a great place to stay and a super friendly staff, the rooms are nice in size a little old but v´wel lcleaned and big enough to breathe, the area is really nice and has some great walking path to enjoy the nature surroundings, only this not so good is the food that is very average and not the quality that this place deserve, but i will be happy to come back another time

Very good hotel with exellent breakfast. Nice decor with exellent rooms and clean bathrooms. Perfect for business trips, and why not for leisure as well. No experience on the restaurant, but hopefully will soon find out.

"Silkeborg visit"
This is an excellent hotel with first class customer service. Its located on the edge of town which is a short walk away. It sits in its own mature manicured grounds with ample car parking. The hotel has recently had a bar installed in the reception lobby/lounge which adds to the already ambient facilities. The rooms are well proportioned and appointed, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is a continental style buffet which is well prepared, presented and wholesome. A great place to stay if visiting the area, my preferred hotel in Silkeborg.

"Lovely property in beautiful surroundings"
This is a modern hotel set within an old country house/mansion which was at one time a sanatorium. Our room was comfortable - with a very comfy large bed. There was also a small balcony, large enough to sit out on, with garden seats provided. The wildlife and sculptures gave plenty to look at. We did wonder at the fly swat hanging on the back of the door, but given the proximity to the woods and lakes, no doubt there can be a need for it. Only one wasp ventured into our room and soon found its way out again. The hotel is situated close to the main road (Route 52) on the edge of Silkeborg, so you either need to use the (free) bikes, have a car or use the bus to get anywhere. Silkeborg itself has a picturesque centre on a large (long) lake and the town is well-positioned for days out by car to Aarhus, the west coast, the north of Jutland and of course the real Legoland. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide choice of fruit, imaginative home-made bread, cold meat, cheese, cereals, yoghurts, eggs, bacon and pancakes. We were slightly disappointed there was not more choice of food available in the evenings, although the quality of the sandwiches in the lounge and the very upmarket food in the restaurant was all excellent. All-in-all, wish we could have stayed longer.

"Peaceful and tasteful place"
We stayed one night in a junior suite an really enjoyed the thorugh selection of Danish interior, whether furniture, TV, downs or lamps. Also, the suite was practical and spacious with a balcony facing the beautiful park. Breakfast was abundant and delicious and service was kind. We borrowed bikes and went to a nearly lake 5-10 mins away to swim - an option flashed upon arrival when we saw towels at the entrance for that exact purpose. The receptionist was not very knowledgable about the immediate surroundings so we had to figure things out ourselves although he kindly handed us a map. A lovely place to chill off and calm down.

"Very nice."
It is a very cosy and traditional looking hotel. The room was well maintained and clean, and has all the amenities such as iron, hair dryer, a kettle with coffee and tea. The breakfast buffet was also good!

"Comfortable"
This hotel has small, comfortable rooms with good wifi and breakfast. Good value for money and recommended for short stays. Therestaurant has a very short menu. People with access to a car should probably rather dine out.

"Amazing Hotel"
I stayed at this place on the 9th and the 10th of Jan. Its a beautiful place and it is an ideal choice whether you are visiting for holiday or for business trip. It is a pity I visited this place for a very short trip - It was dark most of the time so I couldn't see the full beauty of this place. But will for sure visit the place next time. The single room #25 that I stayed was the best ever till date - It was compact and still had the space I needed. I loved the bathroom and the solid feel of the bathroom and the equipments. Internet was first class - Parking is spacious . Breakfast is OK and could do with some more variety - it is typical breakfast - doesn't stand apart - but the restaurant is a wonderful place has a great ambience.

"Fantastic yet again!"
I stayed here again and it is the hotel in Silkeborg that I really prefer over the clinical stereotyped alternatives. Typically Danish with good food and rooms and super friendly staff. Breakfast is a fantastic choice with hot and cold dishes available. Good parking and only a short jaunt to the town itself. Thank you, Merry Christmas and I will be back!

"Lovely bed, has what you need."
Was here on business for one night only. Comfortable room, nice quiet location. The breakfast was good, bread, cold cuts, yoghurt with musli, some sausage, egg and then pancakes and fruit. The decor is slightly old school, but that is part of their charm.

"Very nice, excellent location"
A short walk from the city center, in a quiet forrest, with beautiful gardens, this is a lovely place. I had a room in the old "Skovridergaard"-building. Lovely old house, but beautifully restored and very clean. Excellent service, and wonderful outdoor eating area outside the breakfast room. Only disappointment was a little sparse breakfast, it was very nice, but could have given this hotel full score with a little extra for breakfast.

"Fine hotel in beautiful setting"
Superb location not far from the city centre, in a beautiful setting in a parc and with a forest close by. Excellent restaurant, but I found the room a bit dull although it had a fine size and was well equipped. Very good breakfast.

"Fantastic location and very good food"
Few people know but you can actually just drop in at Gl. Skovriddergaard for lunch or dinner, but they do cater for groups as well so it might be a good idea to book in advance. It has fantastic location in the middle of its own little park and serves very good and up to date food both inside and outside, weather permitting. This is a perfect place for a meeting in central Jutland or just for a relaxed lunch or romantic dinner.

"Home from home"
Great stay again and a great welcome. I had room 10 which was like a little apartment and very quiet. It is a pleasure to return as always!
"Surprising gem with stunning surrounds."
This grand old dame was a treasure to discover. Quiet scando. retro rooms with incredibly comfortable beds. Old fashioned service and opulence meets 5 star dinning. The dinner we had was utterly incredible..!!! We wanted to lick the plates, and then beg for more.. (although we were completely full..) The presentation, service, quality and tastes were up there with one of the finest meals i've had. The sauces were heavenly and plentiful... silky.. I could just go on... If you are looking for mini bar style accommodation, there isnt one here. A kettle and tea bags were the extent of it. I don't note this in a negative way, infact quite the opposite. It was quite a nice change. The grounds and general presentation of the entire property was lovely. I would highly recommend this lovely place. My mother and I stayed in 2 separate double bedrooms.

"A beautiful hotel"
We stayed here one night. I had requested, in advance, a quiet room overlooking the gardens at the back with possibly a balcony and we got all of them! The staff were really welcoming and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance of the town centre which was also a bonus as we could leave the car in the hotel car park (free). The room was well equipped with tea/coffee making facilities and good WIFi (free). We did eat at the hotel's restaurant but it is a bit pricey and the portions are small. They do for warn you of this, but if this is an issue there are plenty of places to eat in Silkeborg centre. The breakfast was excellent with a plethora of choice. You could eat as much as you liked! There is nothing wrong with this hotel and we would recommend it whole heartedly.

"Perfect spot for exploring lake district"
The room was very nice and the breakfast was delicious. The staff was most accommodating and welcoming. We borrowed bikes from their small collection at the hotel and explored the bike trails around the lakes. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the train station and the central downtown area, but if you are driving it's just a few minutes to many local attractions. The hotel is modern and has a more institutional feel of a conference center, and doesn't have the charm of an older hotel. But the grounds are well kept and the rooms are very comfortable.

"Nice area, good food - but rooms could need an upgrade"
Stayed for just one night. Really nice garden around the hotel. You can borrow bikes and go around the lakes. Had a surprisingly good dinner in the hotel restaurent and breakfast was also very nice. Room was small and could need an upgrade of colour, furniture and bathroom.

"Excellent food"
We had dinner at Gl. Skovriddergaard following a series of meetings. The location is extremely pretty and the meeting facilities very very good and on top they serve absolutely excellent food both for lunch and dinner. The restaurant staff is however not very professional and totally lack wine knowledge. This is however a place that I would happily recommend to anyone that needs a place for a meeting in Jutland.

"Just perfect"
I've been on this hotel a couple of times, for business and pleasure. It is a good hotel, nicely placed and in good condition. It is clean, the service is good and the food is great (TRY their cheesecake at lunch, even if you are not normally liking cheesecake!!) If you have time, take a walk in the small forest just next to the hotel. There are free parking with fine amount of parking spots.

"Simply and quietly first class"
I have stayed here many times and find the hotel really great and friendly with first class staff who go out of their way to be helpful and welcoming. The location is good for Silkeborg and the outlying area of forests and countryside. I will be back and always look forward to my stays here.
"So quiet"
Good and recently renovated hotel, small rooms but everything you need is present. Only thing that comes to mind is that it's so quiet! A little music while having breakfast would not hurt anyone! Besides this everything was perfect.
"Return to a great hitel"
It is always a pleasure to return here. Great warm welcome with rooms that have been recently redecorated and friendly and helpful staff. I ate in the restaurant which carries a separate write up and the food was really sublime. Breakfast is included and first class.
"Cosy quiet hotel"
I only stayed a single might as I was just passing through. Very nice small hotel, located just outside the town of Silkeborg. Small rooms, good beds, clean bathroom, good wifi. The breakfast is nice, but lacks bacon :-) For a nice view, get a room with a treeline view.
"Old style hotel in quiet location - move to 60/70s!"
I was having room in part build in 60s (I guess), rooms with basic furniture in simple Scandinavian style and obviously Bang and Olufsen TV ;-), bathroom bit tired, but clean. I had a room with garden view and balcony very quiet! Breakfast up to Danish standard, could be a bit better.
"Excellent place to stay as base for daytrips"
My wife and I stayed here for several nights in mid May and enjoyed it very much. We had a spacious room with a balcony overlooking the landscaped grounds, and it was very quiet for sleeping. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the grounds are attractive, and the breakfast buffet is quite extensive. A car is useful to have since the hotel is on the southern edge of the city, with easy access to parkland. I booked our room through Booking.com since I found the hotel's English-language website to be lacking in information on room rates (unless it was my website navigation skills that were lacking). I also found the sauna to be overheated (105 degrees Celsius). Those were minor issues, however, and we would not hesitate to stay there again.
