The Grange at Oborne, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

This was our third visit to this lovely family run hotel set in a wonderful location . Exceptional food and generally great service but can occasionally lack attention to detail. Bedrooms very good standard with really comfortable beds. Looking forward to our next visit.

A haven of tranquility in rural Dorset. Friendly helpful staff and nothing was too much trouble for them whatever they were doing. We had a large well appointed room with private terrace overlooking the garden. Has a lovely homely ambiance with an excellent kitchen and some useful extras like wellies and maps for muddy walks. Comfortable lounge with log fire. Village traffic gives way to the ducks crossing to the stream! We WILL return.

Accommodation was well appointed and good value. All the staff were professional and friendly. The restaurant offered a varied menu and the presentation and quality of the food was excellent. We have visited the hotel several times and can highly recommend it.

This hotel was set in a very quiet, peaceful location. There were very quirky items on the walls and around about which were fascinating to look at. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. They went out of their way to make you feel comfortable and were happy to accommodate any changes to meals etc. The room was very spacious and clean. The huge bed was very comfortable. We stayed at the Grange to attend a nearby family occasion and have stayed there before. The hotel is situated in the lovely small village of Oborne in Dorset, a short distance from the market town of Sherborne. The hotel is a small country house style hotel and is full of character and quirky and we love it. The rooms are individual and well appointed and the staff are really friendly and helpful,nothing is too much trouble to make your stay a great one. The food is good,with breakfasts being especially so,with good choices available. There is a lovely garden for enjoying summer evenings outside and parking is available. All in all,we thoroughly recommend The Grange if you want a break in the country and a taste of village life.

This was our 5th or 6th visit to the Grange. As always John & Jenny's welcome is brilliant. It was lovely to meet Teresa again, Both her and the other ladies are fantastic. The rooms are so comfortable and beautifully decorated, we had a wet room which was really good. Very comfortable bed and pillows. We stayed in room 17 this time.

Wonderful comfortable room with good WiFi. The ambience in the lounge is just great, with comfortable leather chairs and privacy. The small bar is very welcoming and well stocked and the dining room is just perfect with excellent service and superb food.

Were part of a group staying 2 nights for a music course in one of the function rooms. Food and accommodation excellent. Staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Prices very reasonable too for such high quality. We will be going again soon!!

Came here after a previous visit where everything was just superb, to celebrate both my wife's and business partner's wife's birthdays. Firstly the room was just incredible and simply perfect. We arrived on March 9th which I include for the accurate feedback to the hotel. Staff incredible,room as described above but the food simply poor. I ordered a rib eye steak medium which was completely over cooked and no body else very happy with their course. We do remember breakfast being superb so we all looked forward to that. Breakfast was pre prepared all very over cooked and hard a complete disappointment. Not sure what went on here regarding the kitchen but food very poor against what we'd had on a previous visit, really night and day. Shame because otherwise a lovely place to stay but has left us unsure to return in the future

What a lovely find. Had a lovely relaxed 2 night stay . Our room was perfect, spacious , clean and with a lovely balcony overlooking the garden. An amazingly comfy bed that was a joy to sleep in. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food delicious,all contributed to a lovely relaxed stay. Really looking forward to returning.

It would be impossible to find anything to criticise about this stay. The welcome, friendliness, service and general ambience of the hotel are splendid. the bedrooms was impeccably clean, well-furnished and with a sparkling bathroom. Even the very large cat has a warm and friendly welcome for the guests! The resstaurant service is impeccable and the cuisine is of the highest standard.

I can only repeat my glowing assessment of last year. I am anticipating another visit in August when I hope to stay in one of the new bedrooms now being developed.

The bedroom we had was extremely spacious and the largest bed we have ever slept in. The bed was extremely comfortable as were the pillows. The bathroom was a wet room which was excellent. Access to the room and restaurant was easy. On arrival the room was very clean with ample towels, toilet rolls, soap and shampoo.

Lovely family hotel, well run and friendly staff. Very clean, comfortable and spacious room facing the pretty garden - loved the birdfeeders outside the patio door. It cheered us up when waking up to some rather damp mornings. The hotel is located in a peaceful village and our room was very quietly situated. Some of the decor was unusual, a little dated and quirky, but that added to its charm. Lots of helpful information in the entrance lobby along with wellies and maps for local walks - a nice touch. A perfect way to celebrate my husband's birthday.

Nice warm rooms, beautiful breakfast, clean toilets, clean bed, parking, wifi, all was excellent. There are lovely countryside views from the bedroom window. Vegan and vegetarian breakfast options available. Could use points to make bookings and likewise collect points for stays.

We had two rooms next to each other - worked perfectly with our children. This is a lovely independent hotel. Rooms very well appointed - clean, warm, everything worked. Beds comfortable. We had drinks after eating elsewhere and there was a really nice atmosphere - the staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was a highlight - lovely jars of berry compote, honey, yoghurt - was delicious and felt homemade. My family all had cooked breakfasts and were complimentary about those too. We very much appreciated the wellies and marked out walks on the OS maps on Sunday morning - a really nice touch. This is a lovely hotel with a personality - we will definitely return.

Sumptuous rooms. Well equipped with everything you could need. More TV channels than you could ever watch and free wi-fi. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Plenty of parking and all in a lovely setting. Would definitely stay again if this place is available.

Excellent hotel. We had a lovely room with underfloor heating in the bathroom which was a real treat. Everything was very clean and well appointed. We loved Neptune the cat, he was just like our cat Rhubarb. Many thanks to all the staff who made our stay most relaxing and enjoyable. We also loved the ducks in the High Street.

Well you won't ever regret discovering the Grange and getting a 5 star service there. It is a very special hotel. All the staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are stylish, comfortable and spotless. You will have a wonderful stay and keep coming back as we have for many years now! The Private Dining room , the Wessex room was an excellent venue and dining experience for my 70th birthday celebration with 24 family members. Everyone was impressed by the food and service.

We have just returned from a 2 night sty to celebrate my husband's birthday and can't fault the accommodation, the staff or the food. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and a varied menu each evening for dinner. We will definitely return.

Lovely quiet and comfortable room with a great shower! Bed comfortable and everything beautifully clean. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Loved the staff who made us feel very welcome and gave personal service. Nothing was too much trouble. Great seasonal offer on the price too. This is our third visit and we will go back again.

Our first stay at this beautiful hotel and I think we will be back. Lovely welcome at reception on our arrival and we were given an upgraded room, which was warm and cosy with underfloor heating. A very comfortable bed, nice shower and fluffy white towels, bath robes and slippers provided too. We ate in the restaurant on the first night the food was delicious and well presented, a limited amount of beer at the bar which included,one beer, one pilsner and one cider. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice on the menu, plus a great buffet selection again very well presented, everything sealed in kilner jars, plus crunchy toast is bought to your table so no standing around by the toaster here. Keep a look out for Neptune a friendly cat who likes a bit of fuss. Lovely visit thank you.

Our 3rd visit and again can not be faulted. Friendly greeting on arrival, comfortable bed and nice warm room overlooking the lovely garden. All the staff are attentive and welcoming. Nice open fire in cosy lounge. Delicious breakfasts and dinners. A hidden gem. We shall be back.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at The Grange. The staff were all friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The room was lovely and the bed comfortable, so along with the quiet surroundings was the perfect recipe for a good night's sleep.

We had a beautiful spacious and comfortable room. Pleasant staff and felt well looked after. There was some beautiful decor and the wallpaper in our room was gorgeous. Very comfortable bed too! We enjoyed some of the quirkier aspects such as a wall of parasols and hats! Excellent range of info relating walks and places to visit. The hotel was warm and we enjoyed the range of breakfast menu.

This is a hotel where you are made to feel like a house guest. Everything is thought out perfectly and taken care of. Fautless. It's lovely to find service such as this in our times. Thank you for a wonderful stay. I wish it could have been for longer!

Lovely hotel, tucked away in Dorset. Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent food and a comfortable room. Hotel decor is great and slightly unusual, lots if little nice touches that make such a difference to your stay - maps and information for the local area, boots available to borrow for muddy walks, books available to borrow or swap. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, double room, recently refurbished. Good selection of tea and coffee etc in room, including oat milk for those that need it. Room very clean, could not fault at all. Hotel staff are always very welcoming. Hotel itself is in a beautiful location, and decorated to a very high standard. Well worth a visit to this little gem.

This is my second visit which should say a lot. The hotel is small and cosy and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The staff are all very friendly and can't do enough to help, especially Neptune who kept us amused (the cat who owns the place). Will definitely be back.

As before, this is the best hidden gem hotel. Service, food, rooms, everything feels cared for and appreciated, so the ambience here is wonderful. We have now stayed in two different rooms, and the standard does not change even when the room category is lower. It's a pleasure to have spacious rooms and en suites, and a ding room/restaurant where you can hear yourself think. The food is really good, the vegetarian full English breakfast is one of the best I've tasted, and the evening meal choices were tasty and filling. A big thank you to all the staff for once again making us feel so welcome.

The spacious room was excellent with everything catered for from fluffy towels to dressing gowns and slippers. A walk in shower with everything included. This was our second stay at The Grange and in five years the improvement is remarkable. We highly recommend the Grange.

A lovely first stay at The Grange. If you want noise and a busy place, don't go, leave it to us! We were lucky with glorious weather and were able to take advantage of the very peaceful, beautiful garden. Our room was very well equipped, spacious and spotless with lots of little extra touches. We had our own seating area looking down the garden. Food was good with lots of choice. Staff were all very cheery and helpful, couldn't do enough and the icing on our cake was Neptune the gorgeous cat!

We had a lovely spacious room, with a delightful separate seating area. The huge bed was very comfortable. In the heatwave, it was a treat to have an electric fan. The room was kept clean and tidy. A very nice touch was the free jar of local jam to take away with us. I would have liked more bottled water as it was so hot, but as I did not ask for it, I can't say if it would have been provided - but the staff are so friendly and helpful, my guess is they would have done so. It is a great place for some peace and relaxation.

Having started to visit The Grange in 2012 with subsequent visits in quite a few years since, it proves that there must be something special about the place to warrant our repeated returns. The fact of the matter is that virtually everything you could wish for in a Hotel is present at The Grange. Rooms delightful, spotlessly clean and having a certain ambience not found in other Hotel rooms we have stayed in. Setting, in the most delightful area of Dorset in a beautiful country position. Staff, so pleasant, helpful ,courteous and friendly, they collectively would be hard to beat anywhere else. Food and restaurant, definitely the very best we have found over the many years of staying in Hotels in this country. We cannot praise the whole organisation enough and we will most definitely continue to celebrate our wedding anniversaries there as long as we are able.

Just spent five super nights, three with our son and his Wife, at the Oborne. Five stars in every respect, the Staff were excellent, the food sumptuous, ambiance great, decor lovely and the room so comfortable.. Simply superb Highly recommended

As always a great stay at the Grange, well furnished rooms, clean tidy and a great location in the beautiful village of Oborne situated well off the main road in a rural area with streams running nearby. The staff are always helpful. Whilst I didn't take dinner, breakfast was amazing. Only one small opportunity for improvement. Can I suggest some additional lighting on the path from the car park into the side entrance as this was rather dark.

What else can I say that hasn't already been said about this brilliant hotel? I think every superlative has been used. We had a wonderful three-day stay on a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast basis booked directly, which was extremely good value; we especially appreciated the fact that everything on the menu was available without a supplement. The room itself (no.40) was spotless and well appointed; the only suggestion I could make is to have the curtains fitted with a blackout lining! Every member of staff was outstanding and we felt we were treated as part of the family. Ideally situated in a beautiful part of Dorset, we were able to tour the area with ease, looking forward to spending a relaxing evening on our return. Thank you to all.

Last Saturday I turned up at a hotel in Dorchester I had booked through a booking site to find out I had mistakenly booked it for August 2024 ! They were full … as they say every cloud has a silver lining, well our cloud had a platinum lining as we went to The Grange at Oborne instead (we booked direct). We had an AMAZING room, the service was brilliant through out our stay and food (dinner & breakfast) was superb. Also lovely ethical touches. Without any hesitation I would recommend staying here and we will be back

We were delighted with the quality of the rooms, food and service. It was a higher level of facilities than we expected for the price. The dining experience again was high quality but reasonably priced. As I am gluten free I had plenty of choice and the meals were prepared with local ingredients. They had an eco policy which please us and recycling available in our rooms. Set in the countryside it is quiet and offers country walks nearby. Altogether a gem in beautiful surroundings.

Quite a surprise, wasn't expecting this level of hygiene for the money. Stayed in the deluxe room which exceeded my expectations. The only thing they could improve on was the scrambled egg looked like an omelette! What a great experience, good sleep and no noise from road.

Wonderful hotel which has such a warmth and friendliness about it. We felt they were really pleased to see us. It was our second visit and last year we so enjoyed the jazz in the garden and this year the opera was wonderful. We love the whole attitude to recycling, the toilet twinning and even the crap toilet paper. After our visit last year we twinned a tap in Kenya and a toilet in Nigeria. So thank you for introducing us to that. In fact many thanks to all the staff and to the family for sharing their beautiful home. We will certainly be back next year.

We had a standard room which was large, spacious & light and a separate area with sofa and chair & flat screen TV. A lovely coffee machine & a selection of teas. The bed was king size and comfortable. The room looked newly decorated and was clean throughout.

An excellent for 4 nights dinner, bed & breakfast. All staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive and the hotel is very comfortable with great attention to detail. The food is excellent, high quality and locally sourced. We highly recommend it.

A brief visit but what a lovely hotel and restaurant. All the staff very friendly- Scarlett in the restaurant was lovely A real treat to sit out in the beautiful garden for a drink before dinner . Food was fabulous and service perfect Would love to come back for a longer stay !

We went to the Grange for their Cuban jazz concert, and we have been raving about it ever since. Honestly, it was the best jazz concert that I have ever been to, the musicians were world class, and with just a small room full of people, it felt incredibly intimate. We loved every minute of it, and my husband demanded two encores. All for something like £15 each - unbelievable. We stayed the night in a lovely room overlooking fields from the bed (room 6), and are now used to knowing that the cleanliness, service, friendly welcome and food will all be outstanding because we have stayed here several times. To give an example of the service here, a young waitress seated one couple for breakfast. A few minutes later she overheard the woman telling her partner that the garden was pretty and she liked the tables which overlooked it. Seeing that another couple had just left, this waitress put herself out to offer the vacant table overlooking the garden, quickly cleaned it and moved the coffee for the very happy woman. I had already had a lovely member of staff happily put herself out to find me an extra duvet ( in July - don't judge!) so this kindness came as no surprise to me. I recommend very few restaurants and hotels to my friends, because I always worry that they may not share our tastes or have a reliably enjoyable experience, but I never hesitate to tell them about this one. Thank you to all the staff who worked so hard to give us such a wonderful break.

This hotel was a superb find. We were attending an event at the nearby Haynes Motor museum, and needed somewhere to stay for two nights that had facilities for a wheelchair user. The website has unusually detailed - very welcome - descriptions of ALL the facilities available in the accessible room, so we were very happy to go ahead with our booking. Additionally to the room, there is an accessible toilet in the public area. The restaurant was superb - both for dinner and breakfast. As all food was prepared from scratch, most dietary preferences could be catered for. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Routes for walks nearby with maps provided.

The room was fantastic, with its own private balcony overlooking the well kept garden, the staff were all very welcoming and friendly, the only negative for me was the shower was a little feeble, but this did not spoil a wonderful stay.

This is a little gem of an hotel, which we have visited once or twice a year since 2015. It is family run and always welcoming, clean and the service feels personal. The rooms are all different, comfy and well appointed. We have found special requests always happily fulfilled. Jon, Jenny and their staff are all very pleasant, friendly and do their utmost to be helpful. The food, breakfast and dinner, is excellent and served in a very comfortable dining room. The hotel is situated in a pretty part of the country, with lots of places to visit nearby.

A homey country inn with lovely gardens and parking a short walk away. Great breakfast full English and good selection of other breakfast foods. Standard room quite small for the price. Note no lifts so book ground floor for accessibility. Only a few mins drive to Sherborne with its lovely Abbey.

There was a group of college 5 of us staying, the hotel team was just great they couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. I would definitely recommend and would go back for a holiday rather than just work

Another wonderful stay at this delightful hotel on the outskirts of Sherborne. Comfortable room and bed with a well equipped “wet room” style bathroom and access to the lovely garden via French windows onto a small shared patio area. What really makes this hotel and restaurant stand out is the service. From the management through to bar and waiting staff, everyone is warm and friendly, making you feel genuinely welcome and that nothing is too difficult to make your stay special. Breakfast is always delicious and well presented while dinner offers some exceptional choices, beautifully cooked using high quality food. Special mention for the Brixham Hake which is outstanding and the Fricasee of wild mushroom and aubergine which was both different and superbly tasty. Thank you to Jon, Jenny and all the staff - we will be back!

My partner and I love this place and conjuring more superlatives is difficult! This was our third visit and it's always reassuring that the quality doesn't waver. The restaurant continues to provide outstanding food and impeccable service - and at comfortable prices. Wine is reasonably priced and a wide selection is offered. Support for local businesses and products is evident and I can recommend several of the local gins. Staff changes inevitably take place but the quality of service never slackens. John and Jenny run a superb hotel ably supported by all the staff - Theresa, Kirsty, Seb, Ellie, Marilyn and several others. Apologies but many credits to those whose names I don't know. A wonderful stay and we might just go back. Thank you all

We stayed 2 nights mid-week. A great place to relax, way in the countryside, quiet and peaceful. Yet not too far off the main A road. Staff and owner welcomed us and looked after us throughout. There are maps and information leaflets to help you to plan your day Thank you, Jenni and all , including the singing chamber- maids!

Stayed this week for business. Rural retreat, very clean every where and lovely staff all happy!! only had a moment for a quick bite in the bar, sandwich and a bowl of chips, very nice. I have a lot of meeting in the next few week in this area and will definitely be booking directly with you in the future. 9/10.

A most enjoyable experience - a birthday celebration. Such a lovely olde worlde atmosphere in the lounge areas but room modern and well equipped. An excellent shower room. Very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend

Had a 90th birthday party which included overnight stay evening meal and breakfast on arrival it was so welcoming nothing was to much trouble The staff are so friendly and so helpful John and Jen were amazing Food was fantastic The rooms are spacious clean and nicely decorated The hotel has everything that you need plus value for the money Definitely come back

Our second visit to this small, family run hotel with my husband and it did not disappoint. A lovely welcome on arrival and our room, which we were appointed was an upgrade which we found delightful. Attention to detail and first class cleanliness made our stay very comfortable. The staff are extremely efficient and cheerful. We enjoyed an evening meal which was excellent our steaks cooked to perfection which is hit and miss at some establishments. The Grange has certainly found an exceptional talented chef. We enjoyed a very comprehensive breakfast, very high quality locally sourced ingredients again cooked to perfection. All in all a wonderful hotel situated in a quiet hamlet we can thoroughly recommend.

This enchanting hotel is located in the tiny village of Oborne, just outside Sherborne. The stone building is full of character, with the fireplace buzzing in the main lounge and welcoming lights everywhere. Parking is at the back, some distance from the building, so best to unload at the main door. The hotel is part of the Best Western group though owners are at pain to stress their family proprietorship. It was great to see one of the hosts mucking in to help out with the party in the Events Room. Jon was very helpful and enthusiastic, keen to ensure the welfare of his guests. Always a pleasure to see so much commitment! Our room was spacious enough, with huge bed in the middle. The wardrobe was rather awkwardly positioned next to the beds. Tea and coffee-making facilities were available. Plenty of seating. Bathroom was on a small side but sufficient enough. There was no safety box but bathrobes and slippers were provided. WiFi was pretty decent though there was no mobile coverage at the property. What lets the place down is the culinary aspect, which is rather surprising considering the hotel's Italian restaurant heritage. The dinner menu and dishes were standard and unimaginative. pub quality, perhaps not for the more discerning tastes. This applied to dinner and breakfast alike. With abundance of farmers' markets around one would think fresh produce would be the name of the game in here. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at The Grange with its lovely setting, friendly staff and owners warm welcome.

What a lovely discovery - a truly outstanding family run hotel. The atmosphere was terrific and all the staff, whatever their role, made my wife and I feel truly welcome. Facilities are first class. Our deluxe room, the bar, lounge and dining room all have great character. The hotel is very stylishly decorated for Christmas. The food, both dinner and breakfast was excellent in every respect. There is a very interesting wine list. The hotel is in an immaculate state. We feel we have found somewhere very special.

I've stayed at many hotels this year but The Grange at Oborne is by far the best of them all. Excellent food, wonderful setting and friendly hardworking staff (special praise to Izzie and Rosie for making our stay memorable). This is how hotel breaks should be. We will return again soon!

We are regulars at the Grange, and as usual it never fails to deliver. Great room with stocked with everything you need, very comfortable and a superb breakfast with all locally sourced products. Well done to the team.

Had a one night stay away in a superior room. Very warm welcome upon arrival. Couldn't fault anything about our stay. Very clean, warm room. Had a couple of drinks around the fire in the lounge area and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend a stay and will certainly be returning in the future

This is by far our best hotel stay for many years. If anyone places a negative experience you can be certain it is because they want to keep it a secret. I cannot be selfish, this hotel is a real gem, we will definitely be rebooking in not too distant future.

We booked the hotel for one night as we were visiting folks nearby. The booking was based on the location and also the fact that there were vegan options on the menu. So when we arrived we were absolutely delighted by this wonderful place. The room was gorgeous; spotless, spacious, tastefully decorated and with bath! The evening meal and breakfast were wonderful too - for vegans and meat eaters. I didn't want to leave! I'll definitely be back

A wonderful, rural boutique hotel in a super location. Decorated beautifully, roaring fires, gorgeous bar area, fantastic food and comfortable, large beds. Iron and ironing board already in the room as well as tea, coffee and biscuits. Beautifully clean throughout and an added bonus of the super friendly, stunning silver tabby cat Neptune. A perfect winter weekend stay!

The room was a good fair price - food and particularly drink was a high price but was of superb quality - and worth every penny. The Garden and surroundings look great but only had a short one-night stay.

I have dietary requirements but nothing was too much trouble and the menu detailed how locally sourced the ingredients are. In the bedrooms there are notices to explain what they do for their bit to be sustainable. Lovely people, lovely place, highly recommended.

This is what a well run country hotel should be like. It is extremely comfortable, the staff are cheerful and helpful without being 'in your face' and the food is excellent. It all has a welcoming atmosphere.

Stayed for a wedding and the staff were so helpful and attentive, nothing was too much trouble , they even put all the buttonholes . I can't rate this place highly enough. John and Jen went above and beyond to ensure it all ran smoothly.

Spacious room which had a garden terrace, large sofa, ironing board, desk and king sized bed. Pretty village no amenities and quiet but lovely old houses and a pleasant walk. Very close to Sherborne which is a beautiful old town with a gorgeous Abbey Church to rival anywhere in the UK.

This was my third visit and my wife's second, revolving around a School Reunion lunch, which I attend whilst my wife catches up with a friend in Wells. We stayed three nights, to enjoy the location, to catch up with other local friends and to revisit my old haunts. . The staff are friendly and efficient, the food and accompanying refreshments are original, varied and delicious. The location is stunningly beautiful, and there are masses of books on the area and it's history which can be simply borrowed for the duration of one's stay. The rooms and the hotel generally, are maintained to a very high standard. It's a perfect retreat, with the beautiful town of Sherborne on the doorstep, and the delights of the Blackmore Vale to explore.

The Grange is a very comfortable hotel, with superb food. The staff are attentive and caring. Comfortable beds and facilities. The bar facilities and dining are excellent. The hotel is set in quiet, rural surroundings.

The bedroom was well appointed with quality bedding and a newly refurbished wet room. It was light and airy as were all other areas of the hotel. Staff were excellent, pleasant, helpful and efficient. The food was very good and attractively presented. Much of it from local suppliers. I can certainly vouch for the steak, delicious! The hotel is well located for touring the area, just a few minutes drive from Sherborne. I would certainly stay there again and have no hesitation in recommending it.

If there were more than 5 stars, The Grange would get them. The location, the lounges, the bedrooms, the restaurant, the food, and the icing on the cake, the staff who were without exception attentive, friendly yet very professional in tending to everyone's requirements. Would we stay again, yes, without hesitation.

We were part of a party of 8, staying for 3 nights on DBB. From the moment we arrived, the owners and staff were exceptional. We stayed in Room 6, which was larger than expected, spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. Friendly, attentive staff, with nothing too much trouble, from the hotel bar, to the restaurant, we were treated superbly. The menu had a varied selection of meals, with something for everyone, and it was cooked and served to perfection. It was one of the happiest hotels we have stayed at, and we thoroughly enjoyed our few nights there, and will no doubt return in the not too distant future.

A characterful hotel in the Dorset countryside but close to Sherborne. Caring staff and hosts who can't do enough for you. Local producers and an excellent chef meant for delicious food. Everyone smiled and were welcoming....sorry to leave and we will be back soon.

Wonderful couple of days spent at The Grange for a birthday treat. Spacious rooms, good decor. Lots of quirky pieces of art to look at. Staff are exceptional, friendly yet professional. Made to feel very welcome. Highly Recommended

Just cannot rate this lovely, family run hotel enough. Fantastic staff, lovely bedrooms and the food was scrumptious. The waitresses coped so well with serving all 24 of us at the same time, food lovely and hot. We truly hope to visit again. Oborne and Sherborne are lovely places to visit. Nice large clean room with excellent out look. Plenty of storage space with more than enough comfortable chairs to sit and take a tea or coffee that was supplied. The room with was a standard room had a large modern shower room which also had plenty of storage shelves for toothbrushes, toothpaste and razors.

We stayed here for one night to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. We had the full wedding here exactly 12 months before. Although John and Jenny were not here the staff were absolutely amazing. So friendly and professional they were all a huge credit to them.

This was our fourth visit to The Grange, meeting up with friends for a long weekend. The hotel is gorgeous, in a lovely setting (very tranquil), the service is faultless, rooms are equipped to a high standard and the food (dinner and breakfast) is excellent. The fact that we keep returning whenever we are heading down to the South West speaks for itself. Never grow tired of this place and will be back again next year.

Made more fun by the interesting and sometimes quirky decorations, chandeliers of wine glasses, the loo twinned with one in the Congo, the range of welly boots to borrow and if you are in room 1 with the window open the friendly tabby cat which pops in. All of which adds to the excellent and friendly service, the general comfort and continuing feeling of being welcomed. Worth a considerable diversion of travel.

Oh my gosh!!! This place is amazing! So amazing! Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the most friendly greeting we have had from a hotel in long time. Squeezed us in for dinner. Food was amazing!! (I know I'm saying amazing a lot, but it just is!!! ) all other guests in the hotel were just equally as friendly it was just the most lovely atmosphere. Breakfast!!! WOW! We could of eaten it over and over! So defo don't miss breakfast!! Room was big and spacious as was the bathroom. All exceptionally clean. Love all the vintage touches! All staff are absolute stars! And star of the show was the beautiful soft chilled out cat who we chilled on a sofa with for a good while. So if you love cats you might spot this gorgeous guy. 10/10 highly recommend staying here. We will defo be returning, as we wish we could of stayed longer

I was a little wary about booking at first because some Best Western Hotels can be a bit institutional but this was absolutely the opposite. It's a small family run place with amazing attention to details and no small amount of humour. A really delightfully comfortable restaurant too with lovely food and ale. We'll be back!

A pleasant, friendly hotel in quiet countryside outside the lovely town of Sherbourne, with excellent food and plenty of parking. The room was clean and comfortable with a modern en-suite shower room.

Lovely hotel serving first class food. The hotel is in a very quiet location but within easy reach of most well known Dorset towns & villages. Welcoming friendly staff who make your stay memorable. The restaurant is popular with local people as well as quests which speaks volumes for the quality of the food served.

A delightful hotel - extremely comfortable and full of character, with a carefully decorated and spacious bedroom and a most inviting bed. French windows looked out on to the fine garden -- with birds in the bushes. The food was excellent, and served with friendly care. All in all a lovely destination for a country 'away stay'.

The owners of this hotel have really thought about providing a pleasant environment for their guests – the rooms are spacious and comfortable, ensuite facilities work (one slight hiccup with a slippery shower but I think this was an oversight – they do supply nonslip mats) everywhere is well decorated and congruent. The public areas are very pleasant and the hotel is situated in a lovely garden. It is also very quiet. Service is pleasant and the staff very well trained – I absolutely couldn't fault.

I am planning to revisit this hotel because it was so nice. Couldn't fault it. Warm place full of character and charm. We only stayed 1 night but want tplan a short break now. The local area is beautiful.

Great staff, great food and a very relaxing stay - this was our 6th stay and we will be back. A quiet location surrounded by the Dorset countryside, rooms are very comfortable the hotel is family run and then shows in the attentiveness shown by all the staff.

If you like small family-run hotels where they understand what is important to guests then The Grange is the place for you. Every member of staff we had contact with was customer-focussed and eager to please. We asked lots of questions and always had helpful replies, with colleagues being consulted when necessary. Our room and bathroom were well cleaned and equipped, including a coffee percolator, a wide selection of teas, toiletries, and enough hangers in the wardrobe! The cooked breakfasts were excellent, served without excess oil or fat on the plate (but no kippers on offer boo-hoo!). We found the evening menu a bit outside our personal tastes, as we prefer traditional dishes, but staff were obliging as usual in providing sandwiches when we returned late one evening. The Grange is an ideal centre for touring, with the delightful Sherborne right next door and South coast resorts such as Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Christchurch in easy reach. Jon and Jen have the same sense of humour as us, which is expressed around their hotel, and there are books around every corner! Cocktails are available (big plus for us!), and if the weather is kind eating al fresco in the garden adds to the pleasure. We loved our stay, and would certainly return if in Dorset again. Reading this back, it sounds like an advert written by a copywriter, but it's not. We are real guests, and we are not backward in complaining if things are not right, so we are delighted to be able to submit such a positive review. It's well deserved. Mr and Mrs Wheeler Cheshire

We needed a night close to our daughter in preparation for a big birthday and The Grange filled the bill admirably. Situated in a pretty village, a beautiful old building surrounded by farmland., but an attractively decorated bedroom wing, the whole redolent of family life. Breakfast was in an attractive dining room overlooking a lovely garden, and the menu offered some interesting homemade muesli, jams, marmalade and fruit yoghurts. Altogether a most satisfying experience.

We stayed at the Grange for only two nights but we wished it could have been longer. The location and gardens were excellent, the building interesting and comfortable, the catering first-class, and the staff friendly and obliging.

This is such a lovely hotel - clearly managed to ensure all staff are welcoming and truly helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble . It's perfectly placed in such a pretty village with plenty of opportunities for walking etc. Most comfortable rooms , great showers and everything we needed. Fantastic breakfast beautifully presented and so cheerfully served as was the evening meal. We stayed for a family wedding in the village and were all thrilled with the Grange.

We stayed 5 nights and were happy with the accommodation and the food was excellent. Our room had a balcony overlooking a very pretty garden. What struck us most was the exceptional staff who couldn't do enough for you. We found they all had a very “can do” attitude and were always very approachable and helpful.

Had a lovely one night stay away. Really friendly and highly polished service from all staff. Bar, lobby and part of dinning room have been decorated really well. Bar in particular is amazing with it's luxurious jungle/animal wallpaper against bright orange drinks shelves. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom was well appointed. The decor in the room though was a bit boring. We loved the green book case with the local books for guests and the painted chairs and striped carpet made for a great look and feel to the place. We definitely were the youngest guests by a few decades and I think perhaps the modernisation of the hotel is happening so as not to frighten the older guests into an early grave! The garden was beautiful and we enjoyed watching the bats flying around in the evening.

Beautiful place, fast efficient and pleasant service, lovely food. Perfectly located with a lovely country ramble into Sherborne where you can visit the spectacular Abbey and the gorgeously quaint town. Just perfect!

Another wonderful stay at The Grange. So very happy to have found this gem of a hotel to use as a base when in Oborne for the summer opera events. The entire team makes you feel welcome, and the relaxed atmosphere, with just the right balance of attentiveness and privacy, makes the whole stay just flawless. And the delicious food is just the final element of the perfect package.

We booked the best room but it stunk of chips/fried food when we arrived. Next morning it had over powering smell of cooked breakfast. Restaurant carpets were grubby and generally the place felt dirty. Shame as it used to be very classy

Lovely, quiet country hotel with friendly staff and a beautiful location. We were couples visiting the hotel for the first time with a good rate for D B & B. Our room had a balcony, the weather was gorgeous and we spent some time out there enjoying the scents of summer. Quite idyllic.

We stayed for these nights in a superior room which was well equipped and very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had dinner with family on our first night which on the whole was excellent only one problem with a dessert which was quickly rectified. Would recommend this hotel suitable for couples or family with a lovely garden

Have just had a two night visit for our wedding anniversary. Our room was perfect as I have mobility problems. It was ground floor with a wetroom and everything was at the right height and extremely comfortable - and cool. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. An added bonus was jazz in th garden on Sunday afternoon which we weren't expecting and we thoroughly enjoyed it . Can't wait to return. Thank you.

We had a lovely stay at the Grange. Just a 1 night visit and unfortunately we were too late to get a table for dinner (we were asked at check in if we wanted to book so it was our own fault!) Room was lovely, I really liked the decor and the quirkiness! Room was plenty big enough for me, my partner and my 6 year old. He had a very comfy sofa bed and still plenty of room to get around. Nice to have bathrobes and slippers too! Lovely view of the garden and nice and quiet. Lady on reception was very nice, welcoming and helpful. Would visit again if we were in the area!

Large room and en-suite shower. Overlooks open countryside and is very quiet. Beautiful well maintained garden for guest's use if wished. Excellent breakfast choices. Staff were superb with full marks to Holly for her helpfulness. No problem parking. If we pass this way again we will have no hesitation to stay here.

This is the second time we stayed at thehotel and once sgain it exceeded our expections. Room was very comfortable and homely all staff efficient and friendly and the meals in the restaurant was fine dinning and tasty. Many thanks once again and we will definitely be back.

Comfortable "at home" hotel. Friendly, unpretentious. Our spacious room with wisteria-clad terrace was thoughtfully appointed and had everything we needed. The decor in parts of the hotel, notably the bar, has been brought up to date. Elsewhere is looking forward to its makeover. We'd definitely visit again.

Lovely hotel but felt the rooms were a little tired, when compared to similarly priced hotels, particularly the bathrooms. Very weak shower, shower gel dispenser didn't work. Poor quality pillows. The room itself was lovely. The extractor fan in our room 10, disturbed our son's family upstairs in Room 14. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Food good.

Last minute booking and was blown away with our room. Queen size bed, immaculately clean, stunning balcony with peaceful view. Slept like logs, and refreshed for the most yummy breakfast served by the most lovely ladies (who were sooooo polite and friendly) Thank you will most definitely return if in the area. Ours was a relatively late booking and all of the more expensive rooms had already been booked. Our room was of a good size and quite well 'kitted out' with ironing board, iron and electric fan.. The weather was warm and quite humid overnight, so it was difficult to achieve a comfortable temperature for sleeping, despite the available fan, Particularly given the temperature the lack of an in-room fridge was a disadvantage,

We have spent time at The Grange before and when we knew we needed a little peace and quiet after a hectic six months we immediately chose this lovely hotel for our break. Caring, helpful staff, delicious food and a very relaxed atmosphere. What more could you need? We will be back!

Family run hotel with a charming laid-back approach. Plenty of parking. Mine was a nIce, slightly old world furnished rooms with comfortable bed, and everything you could possibly need, such as robes, slippers, hair dryer and iron, plus a fan for hot weather. But there are a couple of minus points... first, your mobile phone won't work there - it's a dead spot. Although wi fi is provided and phone calls from your room are free, I still found it annoying. Second, cash is not accepted, which means you cannot even buy a drink in the bar unless it goes on your room bill, or you have to use a card. Personally, I found that unacceptable and would not have booked at this hotel had I known - hotel booking agencies don't mention it. Finally, the breakfast was very good.

I couldn't' fault anything about this Hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was amazing and the rooms were airy and spacious with all the facilities you'd expect from a well run family Country House Hotel.

The room was spacious, comfortable, well equipped and furnished. It led out to a terrace which in turn led to the garden which was absolutely delightful, complete with small pond and bug hotels! The attention to detail was superb - we so enjoyed watching the birds come to the feeder hung directly outside the room for example. The staff were superb - knowledgeable, friendly, prepared to go that extra mile and always with a smile. The food was excellent and we loved the environmental credentials - no plastic in sight, just a series of Kilner jars for everything from yogurt to marmalade. We cannot recommend this small, family run hotel too highly

Lovely little family run hotel. Stayed here for one night as I was on business in the area. Room I stayed in was very clean and tidy and had plenty of room, very nice selection of tea / coffee / biscuits in the room. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Restruant is very nice, very attentive to table layout and again, staff are very friendly. I had steak on the night which was very good and cooked to perfection. The downside on this is there is no phone signal whatsoever in the area and the wifi, although free, is a bit hit and miss (appreciate this is not the direct fault of the hotel) which is not great if you are trying to catch up on emails. Another downside if you are a business traveller is breakfast is not served on a week day until 07.30 - not great if you have to get away early (most hotels I've stayed in will start breakfast at about 06.00 or 06.30). In summary, good hotel if you are planning a few days get away and relax, but not ideal if you are stopping over on business.

An excellent holiday enjoyed by our Morgan Club at the Grange at Oburn. An exceptional Hotel. Friendly, efficient, courtious staff who all did everything to make our group welcome and our holiday enjoyable. Excellent food cooked to perfection.

My wife and I stayed for the weekend to attend a function. From the start of our visit we were struck by the friendliness and helpful attitude of the staff - nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. The restaurant and bar facilities were very comfortable.

We stayed here one night with an elderly uncle to celebrate his 90th birthday. Both our rooms were excellent and spotlessly clean, One with a private balcony and one with a patio, both overlooking the beautiful gardens. The hotel is nicely tucked away in a lovely quiet setting. Ample parking in the carpark. Highly recommended !

The Grange is situated in a very peaceful hamlet, two miles from Sherborne. Beautiful view from our room, which was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was of the highest quality. The most memorable aspect of our stay was the friendliness of the staff, from the manager to everybody else. Will happily recommend the hotel to our friends.

Old house (with extensions) in a quiet location in a village, lamost traffic free. Pretty garden with seating. Plenty of parking. Spacious room, nicely furnished. Kettle. Request for sheets & blanket instead of duvet was met. Good modern bathroom. Very close to drop off point so easy to manage luggage.

In general, a fantastic hotel, - one of the best ( of many ) that I have ever stayed in. We were three retired couples on a mid-week break, staying in three adjacent rooms, all of which were extremely well appointed, whilst being different in level of luxury. Beautiful rooms, overlooking a private patio and garden area, which afforded us outside tables and chairs within a well manicured garden. The hotel staff were amazing; - particularly on the catering side, where we were treated like V.I.P.s. All our meals were superb, and were selected from excellent menus which included vegetarian options. There was adequate parking on site for the maximum capacity of the hotel. One aspect of our 3-night stay let the side down however, which has cost the establishment what could have been full marks, and this concerns our bill. Our 3 individual accounts were electronically generated, and were sent to us via e-mail AFTER we had vacated the hotel. Each bill was incorrect, albeit by only small financial amounts, but the Hotel has no reception staff on duty before 3 p.m. so we were unable to discuss and /or challenge our bills as room vacation was mid morning. Also, food and drink charges on each bill were not fully explained; the itemisation was somewhat sparse with regard to costs. I would highly recommend this hotel, but would advise any potential guest to insist on a traditional "paper" bill being made available before leaving.

Our first time at the Grange but wont be the last as this an absolute gem. We booked direct and were felt welcomed right from the start which continued right through our stay. On line check in was a breeze which made arrival a simple process of handing over the key, very efficient. Our room was excellent with everything you could wont for, clean and comfortable and tastefully decorated. In fact the whole hotel is tastefully decorated and maintained to a high standard. the gardens are well kept and is a great place to enjoy an aperitif. There are some really nice touches such as someone has taken a great deal of time to provide really useful guides, maps etc. which are well organized. Lastly and by no means least the staff are the icing on the cake, helpful, friendly and excellent at what they do.

Fantastic hotel in the village of Oborne. Room was well decorated and clean, communal areas of the hotel also clean and well kept. Staff were lovely, friendly and attentive. Stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was excellent. I couldn't fault this hotel at all. We had an excellent stay.

What a truly happy stay in this most comfortable and friendly hotel. Every one of the staff was welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. My room was extremely comfortable and immaculately clean. I enjoyed eating outdoors in the beautiful garden in the evening. Breakfast was well organised with portions presented beautifully for our first course - loved the individual bottles and jars! Cooked breakfast choices excellent and made freshly for each person. The lovely family atmosphere and individual details made me feel very relaxed. We have been staying at the Grange when visiting family in the area for a number of years now. It is such a pretty , beautifully decorated hotel in a lovely village. The staff are all that you would expect, friendly, helpful, attentive and efficient. Everywhere is sparkling, with lovely design touches. The rooms are large and week decorated, the beds comfortable and the restaurant excellent serving all locally sourced cheeses and meats etc. We have never been disappointed with any aspect of our stays. They are very eco conscious. (Our toilet was “twinned” with one in Colombia ! )

We had a wonderful couple of days here recently - lovely village, nice gardens at the hotel, well-appointed and large bedrooms and bathrooms, and the most helpful and polite staff you could hope for. We had a lovely few days away meeting up with old friends. Hotel rooms were individually decorated and very clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were of a high quality and dinner was excellent. All staff were attentive , friendly and professional. We would certainly return if we were in the area.

Beautiful hotel, fantastic food and very welcoming staff. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and we loved the garden too. It was wonderful to watch the birds on the feeders outside our room, and to sit in the sun on the terrace.

We stay in hotels on a regular basis and The Grange is absolutely top of the tree. Located in a small, very pretty village close to Sherborne in Dorset, it's convenient for journeys to the West Country and provides everything. Peace and quiet, lovely rooms but above all, outstanding staff and high quality food. Holly, an irrepressible presence, with her young assistants Lucy and Rosie, ensured pre dinner, dinner and post dinner were very enjoyable experiences and Izzy was also excellent with the welcome and breakfast. I cannot praise this hotel enough - 6 star rating. Thank you for a lovely stay

Since the birth of our second child, we are no longer able to stay with my parents, when visiting the area, so we came to The Grange having been impressed with the venue when we ate here before. The hotel was absolutely lovely and the staff were super-friendly. ...so much so, that our 5 year old daughter would not leave until she had given them a huge thank you hug. We also had a function room booked there for my parent's golden wedding anniversary, which was a lovely event also. Would highly recommend.

We booked a small function room for a Family gathering. It exceeded our expectations thanks to the attention to detail that the management and staff created - having to cope with ever changing numbers because of covid, didn't phase them one iota. Our room was clean, well appointed and comfortable, with a door that opened onto the garden. Dinner on the first evening was an unhurried delight with freshly prepared food and a good choice of wines. The same can be said of our party meal which was allowed to continue in an unhurried way that allowed for extensive interaction for family members meeting after a long interval. The overall experience is bucolic, in the best sense of the word and a haven from the day-to day bustle of the world. Highly recommended.

A peaceful and homely hotel with some quirky features and some excellent ideas dotted around the building. The gardens are beautiful and all the staff are friendly and helpful. The bedroom was large, comfortable and supplied with everything that might be needed. Somewhere that we would definitely recommend and be happy to revisit.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Grange recently for one night only, to visit family in a nearby village. After a long drive the welcome we received from all the staff, but especially Holly, who treated us like old friends, was exceptional. The rooms we had booked were lovely and the accessible room on the ground floor was simply beautiful. Our family members arrived around 6.00 pm and we had a great time with JP and Holly providing the drinks with great humour and attention in the lounge pre dinner. The menu was varied and suited us all with the vegetarian option gratefully accepted. We all thoroughly enjoyed the dishes provided and the chef was excellent, compliments to their skills too. After a lovely quiet nights sleep we arose to birdsong and made our way downstairs for breakfast, another superb meal with great variety of dishes on offer all very well prepared and cooked perfectly. The staff are FABULOUS, everyone one of them are very dedicated, professional and friendly, they made our stay immensely enjoyable. We totally enjoyed our time there and we will be back, we just wish it was closer to our home to visit more regularly..

A lovely hotel in the beautiful Dorset village of Oborne. Jon, Jenny and the team make guests feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The food was excellent - especially breakfast and a relaxing drink in the wonderfully appointed bar was just the trick after a full day enjoying the stunning rural environment.

Lovely small hotel situated in a small hamlet in a pretty valley. Very comfortable & clean rooms. Great local walks. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel. Close to the pretty market town of Sherborne.

We had a very pleasant two night break at The Grange. It is in a delighful setting and our room was spacious and well appointed. The staff were all friendly and efficient and took trouble to provide a first class service. The food was great. it is also very good value; what's not to like1 We are delighted we found the Grange and hope to return.

From the warm welcome at check-in right through to the quick check-out 3 days later, we were made to feel totally at home in this lovely rural hotel. The staff are attentive and friendly, and the bedrooms and public areas comfortable and well equipped. Dinner in the restaurant is superb, with a well matched wine list. Breakfast is comprehensive and freshly cooked to order. This was our 4th stay at The Grange and it has never disappointed. An ideal break away from it all and base to explore this lovely part of the world.

From check in, to bar service, to dinner, to the room and breakfast this enterprise was outstanding. The highest quality in all respects. Who else provides wellingtons for walking and a comprehensive library of books and resources to assist the tourist? Loved the tray in the bedroom for muddy boots. We had a deluxe room with access to the garden and thoroughly felt spoilt by our one night stay. We were visiting a friend in Somerset who remembers coming to The Grange many years ago when it was a high quality Italian restaurant. We shall be back.

An ideal location for a countryside walk or a day out in Sherborne. Rooms and communal areas are attractively presented. Staff are amazing and work as a great team. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the meals are delicious.

I travel around the UK for work at least a couple of days a week. This hotel is the first hotel I have stayed at where I have had a blissful night's sleep! The location is so idyllic and quiet. The room was clean and spacious and also had lovely big white fluffy towels (room 19). The staff are all so welcoming, friendly and professional. Parking was easy too. The only negative was that the electric charger did not work with my Tesla 3. Gordano supercharger is only 63 miles away so thankfully this was not an issue for me. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to my colleagues who often travel too. Thank you for such a wonderful stay! - LD

Another wonderful stay to celebrate my wife's retirement and birthday. So relaxing knowing all your needs are catered for. This was our first stay away since before the pandemic and we felt completely safe knowing that safety measures were subtly in place. All staff were so lovely especially the lady that runs a choir (sorry we didn't get her name) and the food was amazing. Can't wait to come back.

My partner and I stayed here for one night after a birthday lunch. The hotel is lovely and the staff are very friendly and efficient. I had booked a double room and when we checked in we were told that we had the honeymoon suite! Very special for a couple in their 70's!! The room was huge and beautifully decorated and with a very large balcony overlooking the garden. We were really spoilt!

The Grange is a beautiful hotel and one with real character. I stayed overnight for a work trip but The Grange would also be ideal for a relaxing 'get away from it all' break. It is hidden away and just perfect for a break.

We stayed for 2 nights, DBB, booking direct with the hotel. All pre-arrival communication was prompt and efficient. Arrival was easy with pre-registration. Room was large with a lovely garden view and small terrace for warmer weather, The room had been recently redecorated and was in sparkling clean and on a cold, wet winters weekend it was cosy and warm. The hotel is family owned, with the feeling that staff are part of their extended family. Every staff member we met was friendly, smiling and professional. They are clearly well trained and appear to be happy in their work. All were smartly presented, this is a hotel that definitely maintains high standards, There is a cosy, smart little bar. In a delightfully 'old school' style dinner guests can enjoy a pre dinner drink in a lounge area whilst they select from the menu. The restaurant is spacious with views of the garden. The chef and kitchen staff prepare some excellent food at sensible prices. A lot of emphasis on locally sourced. The main courses stand out. Breakfast had a thoughtful and innovative approach to presenting granola, muesli and jams. Good for minimising Covid risks and good for the environment with no plastics (none of those horrible single use plastic jam portions). We will definitely look to stay here again.

The Grange is a very welcoming hotel. It has ground floor bedrooms which are ideal for those of us who find stairs difficult. The staff are all very helpful and efficient. The meals both evening and breakfast were excellent.

From my first glimpse of The Grange as we drove up I knew I was going to love it. The building itself is stunning and looks welcoming, I wasn't disappointed! From the warm welcome to the beautifully decorated rooms. The location is ideally situated if you want total peace and quiet, set in stunning countryside. The staff were amazing, so friendly and polite, name badges informing guests if they were New was a great idea. The restaurant food is fantastic, i would recommend booking ahead for a table as it gets busy, and with good reason. Great drinks menu, my husbands favourite brandy, which is unusual to see! I was sad to leave, I would quite happily have moved in for good! We are already planning another visit. Thankyou to you all for our relaxed stay.

We have just returned from another really enjoyable stay at this hotel. Since our last stay several years ago the hotel has been refurbished and it's now even more amazing than before. The rooms are all very spacious and beautifully decorated and the communal areas are really lovely with some great quirky additions. So much of interest to look at. We ate in the restaurant on a couple of nights and the food was wonderful, highly recommended. The staff are an absolute credit to Jenny and Jonathan. The service they provided from the warm welcome we received on arrival to the bar and restaurant staff was exceptional and we had a lovely chat with one of the chambermaids about the changes that had taken place, especially during lockdown . Everyone was so friendly and helpful and worked so hard. We arrived home after three nights totally relaxed, batteries recharged and can't wait to stay again. We had a lovely, well-appointed room. The wekcome was friendly and we greatly enjoyed our stay. We had stayed here some years ago and enjoyed it so much we decided to return. We were not disappointed - it was just as good as before.

A lovely hotel suggested for a business trip. Two minutes away from the place I needed to visit but could have been in the middle of the countryside! Very convenient for Sherborne and surrounding area. Lovely bar and restaurant in a gorgeous location. Really reasonable and great big room with everything needed. Staff so welcoming and nothing seemed too much trouble. Really appreciated the sustainable intent (toilet roll and towels) and the local Dorset tea in the rooms. Just a shame I was only there for one night and working. Would be a lovely base to explore from.

This is the third or fourth time I've stayed here. As ever, the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable, cosy and spotlessly clean. The heating was easy to turn up and down and, although it was too cold to think about opening the patio doors to sit in the delightful garden, I could still admire it from my room. I come to the area a few times a year, and have tried other places, but still think that this is the best there is!

This was our second stay at The Grange. We find it bizarre that it only gets three stars - it's much better than that. The restaurant is top class, service is personal and the staff quite clearly care - it's a family-run concern. Our room was immaculate too.

Lovely clean rooms … shower was superb !ample parking set in a lovely quiet location .. ideal for walking. It not too far from Sherborne and yeovil towns . We used the restaurant on 2 of our three night stay and the food was superb as was the breakfast !

There is a drop off point at the front of the hotel and a further car park just a little further up the road. The entrance has a bell for reception with hand sanitisers and first impression is that it is very clean. We arrived early and had a light lunch in lounge before going for a short drive. Check in was very easy and we were shown to our ground floor room which was very roomy, clean and had a superb wet bathroom with under floor heating. Breakfast was very good with a very good choice including kippers. Our stay was for 2 nights and we would definitely recommend this hotel as the staff are very warm and welcoming and couldn't be more helpful, and you felt very well looked after. The garden in the warmer weather would be a delight to sit out in as it is lovely. The whole hotel was clean and very covid responsible with hand sanitisers everywhere, and all the staff wear masks and intend to do so in the near future. We picked this hotel due to other trip advisers comments and we are so pleased that we did. Well done and Thank you The Grange for a very relaxing 2 days.

We recently stayed at The Grange for a family wedding, the hotel was a beautiful haven in the countryside with the most amazing and friendly staff. Our wedding at The Grange this last weekend was a fabulous day mainly due to the warmth, efficiency, humour, delicious food all flowing generously from a happy efficient team led by John and Jenny. The hotel is welcoming from the cosy bar to the main reception room which was perfect for our wedding supper and dancing later. The Wessex room was ideal for the ceremony and help was given in every aspect of the planning for this important part of the day. The hotel rooms are beautifully furnished and very comfortable but not ostentatious and the breakfast next morning for our guests was perfect and delicious! Little touches like the cute jars for the jams and marmalade, the butter swirls hiding beneath silver plated tiny domes - all show that this Hotel team cares and it shows. We shall be back for lunch many times in the future.

We have just had THE most amazing weekend for a family wedding here. Not only is the venue beautiful, decorated brilliantly with just the right amount of ambience, the team at The Grange were superb. The attention to detail and service from ALL the staff was impeccable, nothing was too much trouble and all actioned with a smile. Its rare to find a complete team with the same friendly ethos, yet this flows through every member of staff. Jenny was utterly brilliant and nothing was left to chance. The food was incredible, both at the wedding & for breakfast. Our day was so so special and The Grange was a big part of that. A huge thank you to everyone.

We stayed here for two nights and the standard of food and service were outstanding. The room was warm and comfortable with two chairs that were very welcome rather than sitting on the bed as you do in a number of hotels. All covid rules were followed and as we are both of a certain age and I am designated as vulnerable we felt safe and that our safety mattered to the owners. Staff were polite and very friendly what more could you ask for?

A small, charming, unpretentious, well run hotel in the depths of the countryside. Our short stay included an excellent dinner with courteous service. Our room was comfortable and immaculately clean and the next day's breakfast upheld the excellence we had come to expect.

I just spent the weekend at the hotel as I needed to be in Sherborne early Sunday morning. We settled on this hotel, and are so happy we did! We had dinner at the restaurant Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning. Our room at the top of the hotel was large, clean and the water for the shower and basin immediately piping hot. Comfortable bed, tea making facilities etc. The bar downstairs is cosy and the staff had put the fire on to enjoy drinks before dinner. Service was very efficient and all the staff so friendly! Breakfast Sunday morning was lovely and again, the staff were all so attentive and nice! Thank you for a wonderful stay! We shall be back!

Such a lovely hotel and staff. Our group of five thoroughly enjoyed our stay and cannot speak too highly of everyone at the hotel. Although we were very aware of covid everything that could be done to keep all of us safe was done.

we stayed at this hotel recently for the New Year festivities, having previously stayed for a short break in September 2020 in that brief window 0of freedom between lockdowns! We stayed in a standard room and found the facilities very good indeed. The new mattresses were divine to sleep on and it was good to have windows that opened easily as the weather was exceptionally for Dec/Jan! The NY dinner was fabulous and we loved all the many courses which although small were fine there being so many of them!!We particularly enjoyed the dessert o Lemon Syllabub served in a dark chocolate cup cake style.. The Elvis impersonator was superb and although my husband was unable to dance as once di due to back and knee problems, we sang along with all the old hits. All in all a magical 2 days and we met some delightful people too. Thank you so much to all the staff who added to our overall satisfaction

This was our fourth New Year package at The Grange. The first was excellent and the second was somehow even better, so we just keep coming back for more. Our most recent stay was once again a truly excellent experience. The very experienced team has got everything really well thought out, providing a very friendly and professional service that makes you feel valued. The rooms are comfortable and very clean and the food and service are excellent. We look forward to returning next New Year!

This was the second Christmas party I arranged at The Grange and despite great problems with Covid and people cancelling at the last moment, the party was a great success. The food was excellent and the service very efficient. We were 50 in all and everybody received exactly what they had ordered and were all delighted with the quality of the food. Dealing with Jonathan was again very easy and he was very understanding about guests cancelling at the last moment. A very successful evening in difficult times. Many thanks to Jonathan and his staff.

Everything about this hotel is a delight, from the beautiful ambience and warm welcome as you arrive, to the easy check out when you go. This thoughtfulness is a feature of the hotel. The rooms are well equipped, carefully thought out, as well as being beautifully decorated. The surprise present outside the door on Christmas day was a delightful touch, the badges for new staff help everyone. The owners had gone to the trouble of putting quiz sheets together for guests to enjoy should they wish to try. It is all very considerate and efficient. For example, I feel the cold and always ask for an extra single duvet for my side of the bed. In most hotels nothing arrives or else I receive a double duvet after enquiring again, but at the Grange it was on the bed when we entered. The silence is profound at night, with only the sound of an owl hooting to disturb the peace. I had trouble persuading my husband to come in from the balcony since the dark skies are perfect for star gazing, and the views over the pretty garden and rolling countryside are lovely. The covid procedures were excellent and made us feel much safer. The food was really excellent. My husband raved over the guinea fowl, whilst my hake was so good that I refused to try his dish. The Christmas and Boxing day lunches and evening buffets were outstandingly good, and the food in general compared very favourably to the best restaurants in our New Forest area. Whomever their chef is, I warmly thank him for the consistently wonderful meals. It is the staff who make a good hotel, and we were consistently made to feel welcome by everyone with their friendly and helpful approach. Our thanks to everyone who did so much to make sure that our Christmas was an enjoyable one.

We've now stayed here 3 times in the last 6-months when visiting relatives in the area. There is always a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The rooms are well designed and spacious with nice toiletries and eco-friendly attention to detail. The hotel has good attention to the Covid-secure processes. Food in the restaurant has always been good - well presented and tasty. This hotel also has a charging point for electric cars which is really helpful too. Very glad we found this hotel and looking forward to future visits.

Even during a pandemic the staff at the Grange made looking after 19 of the family effortless. The check in was smooth and efficient. The hotel was comfortable and well facilitated. Look to driving off the M5 rather than a fairly long “A” road sat nav journey after Bristol.

This is a lovely family run hotel in an idyllic setting. Our room over looking the garden was perfect. The dinner and breakfast also great. Staff very friendly and helpful . We would definitely recommend this hotel for visitors to this area.

The Grange is a comfortable, homely and well presented country house hotel. It is almost like staying in someone's home. As it was early December the Christmas decorations were up which added to the overall ambience. A lovely stay.

Absolutley wonderful hotel, friendly and accomodating staff, extremley comfortable en suite rooms. Check in/out process really simply, bar is small but very well stocked. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty with a decent varied menu. Great job all at the Grange :)

Our room was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable, as were the restaurant and lounge areas. The food was absolutely delicious and we were made to feel most welcome by everyone working at the hotel. We were very sorry to leave.

We were attending a function at this hotel on a Saturday evening and decided to book an overnight stay, It proved to be a very wise decision as the B&B rates were excellent value and our accommodation (we chose superior) was superb so no disappointments whatsoever! Such a delightful and well maintained hotel both inside and out! The staff were excellent and nothing appeared to be too much trouble which is such a bonus! I have no hesitation in recommending The Grange for providing a most pleasurable break.

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay of 3 days in this former manor house in a small village, The exceptional friendliness and helpfulness of the staff stands out, but all aspects were very good - the accommodation, good food, car parking space, and so on. Very quiet at night. We will make this our base for our next Dorset and south Somerset break.

Lovely hotel in a remote and quiet location... Wonderful greeting from receptionist Holly, and a complimentary upgrade on arrival! Very clean and comfortable room. Holly the receptionist was really welcoming and helpful. We loved the Milner made at breakfast!! Only downside was the noise from the kitchen extractor fan which appeared to be near our room (no.5)

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Grange this week. The deluxe room was delightful and there was lovely attention to detail in the furnishings and extras provided. A friendly welcome and delightful decor throughout made a special celebratory stay for us. The management clearly have a sense of humour in narrative provided about the hotel and staff. We stayed here three years ago but since then the hotel has had a facelift which has been done very tastefully, love the wallpapers! Our room, although only basic was very well appointed and comfortable. So often these days bathrooms have very poor lighting but not so here. The menu was fairly small but the food was very good and the drinks reasonably priced, Will visit again.

Hidden away a secret location to enjoy. Very good rooms and outlook. Service with a smile. Good base to look at North Dorset. We all enjoyed the evening and food, breakfast was good and freshly made, whatever one wanted

The Grange restored my faith in English hotels. It is a magical place. The decor is impressive. Jenny has excellent taste. The room was spacious and so comfortable. Lovely views of the garden which is beautifully kept. Lots of fresh air, the windows open wide but it's very quiet. The room was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom.

Staff, rooms & breakfast were all fab. We arrived late in the evening but reception staff were happy to accommodate us. The hotel is very well presented. Reception, corridors etc were spotless. All staff we met were friendly. Breakfast was delicious.

This hotel I have stayed at before five years ago and it was nice back then but it has improved massively now I wanted to come back and I am so glad I did as it is a beautiful hotel in some amazing surroundings the rooms are gorgeous clean and very well presented Breakfast was just perfect everything was in Kilner jars so no Wastage at all breakfast was hot and tasty with many different choices, proper coffee and proper large sized toast no messing about, Staff are friendly and polite and the owners are amazing nothing to knock this hotel down for at all it's clean bright and wonderfully presented, Couldn't recommend it highly enough it's just a perfect stay in some lovey surroundings

This little hotel is family run with a fantastic loyal team and it certainly shows. Nothing is too much trouble. Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is comfortable, smart but homely. The rooms are extremely well provisioned. It is set in a quiet, pretty corner of the village and all you can hear at night is owls, pheasants and the early morning cockerel!! It is a fantastic base for visiting the local area. Book your stay now!!

This was our third visit to the Grange and we were not disappointed. John, Jenny and the Team have really worked hard to overcome the difficulties that have followed the pandemic and it was so nice to receive a warm welcome from all the staff and a spotlessly clean and well prepared room. Oborne is an attractive little place and ideal for visiting all areas of Dorset and Somerset. On this occasion we drove down to Swanage for a trip on the steam railway with its picturesque views of Corfe Castle and we also visited Lytes Carey Manor, an interesting small National Trust property near Somerton. We would recommend both.

Our rooms were spacious, clean, furnished well and comfortable - including the bed. The bathroom facilities were very modern and clean. Th hotel was quiet and restful with a lovely bar, great breakfasts and very helpful staff. Stayed 2 nights and would return again.

My wife and I enjoyed a three night stay at The Grange built around me attending an annual school reunion lunch. I was a boarder but have never lost touch with the town and have been a frequent visitor with my family over the years. The Grange lies in a stunningly beautiful location and the layout of the hotel makes the most of its setting. Our en suite bedroom was comfortable with a view of the garden and all the public rooms are cosy and comfortable. They walls and odd corners have pictures, ornaments, artefacts and framed stories on the history of the building and it's location with lots of quirky displays to excite the imagination. The cuisine is of a very high standard and a showcase for local produce. The wine list contains, amongst some classics, a number of little known wines which we chose and thoroughly enjoyed. I also enjoyed exploring the local cider collection and an excellent cask ale. All the staff were consistently cheerful and helpful. Our stay was a delightful experience on every level and we are looking forward to returning next year. Nostalgic Wanderer 550

Return visit after nearly 2 years due to Covid. High standards of care and cleanliness in line with Covid requirements were in place. Food and service were great. The team all work well together, nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast buffet well organised with individual containers for cereal,milk,juice preserves etc for guests to pick up. Good range of hot breakfast. Dinner choice is very good, served by a cheerful team to well spaced tables.

A group of seven of us friends stayed here for three nights while cycling round beautiful Dorset. I cannot praise the staff highly enough - they were friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. They looked after us so well over our stay and provided a safe place for us to leave our bikes. The generous breakfasts set us up perfectly for a day in the saddle. After cycling up hill and down dale we loved the dinners which provided great food and great choice for the carnivores, pescatarians and vegetarians in our group. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. The location perfect for exploring inland Dorset and it's only a short hop, skip and a jump to Somerset. Thank you so much for a great stay - I'm sure I'll be back!

Our group has been back fro another two-day stay and really enjoyed it. We were impressed with the Dinner B&B rate as well as the great choice of food, which was all really nice, including the breakfast. What a shame we were unable to manage a dessert each day. Our room was lovely - a good size with a really comfortable bed and that magic ingredient of a dressing table with light, mirror, socket and seat so rarely found, but unlike my last review there was no rubber bath mat this time, causing me to use the emergency one I carry around with me on trips like this. The wi-fi was much improved - no problem at all now. Our room was right at the top of the house with too many stairs to have to negotiate too often - we should have asked for minimal stairs as I usually do, but we didn't book this ourselves so forgot. The staff are charming and keen to help with everything demanded by our rather difficult group. Well done! We also ran out of milk for tea due to non-servicing of room. We have recently stayed in other hotels in different parts of the country where they seem to be managing to service the rooms each day, but not all hotels have the same issues to address at the moment. We should have noticed sooner and asked. This is a super part of the country with views to die for at every turn. We are still intending to go back on our own to explore some more but haven't got round to it yet! Maybe next year...

This was our second stay at The Grange having had such a lovely stay last year. Our room was large, very clean with a modern bathroom and very comfortable bed. The hotel has very nice gardens and is in a quiet village location. Watch out for the ducks crossing the road! The food is superb, using very tasty local produce and makes the Dinner B&B package excellent value. For breakfast the buffet items e.g. muesli, fruit salad, orange juice, milk etc. all come in individual jars/bottles which is a very nice touch in these current times. Cooked items are ordered from a menu and brought to the table. We don't live too far away and look forward to returning for regular breaks.

Let's start with the positives. Beautiful hotel and location. Nice staff, friendly staff. Food was delicious and the wine menu was well thought through. The negatives. Quite frankly the hardest bed we have ever slept on (room 18). I don't suffer from bad backs, but this bed gave me one. You could literally play snooker on it, it was that hard. Secondly, there was zero room service. There was a rather disingenuous note about towels being replenished, but the room would need to be visited for that to happen. We didn't mind, as we were not intending to replace them anyway. The reason for highlighting this is that no one came to the room during out two nigh stay, where we needed the tea / coffee etc. replenished. That was a pretty big oversight and a bit tight! I can see from previous reviews that this is commonplace, sadly. If you're paying for additional nights, then there should be no shortcuts! Give them same service for every night of stay.

Maximum respect to the entrepreneurial skill & care of the management team for serving others during the peak of the Covid crisis, then carefully & ultra-safely managing the re-opening for their guests. Furthermore consideration for the well-being of their staff means that the hotel will close during some some holiday periods & why not? In view of the guest profile/demographic that will be no big deal, insofar that going away during holiday times can be deeply unpleasant on many levels. Our visit was therapeutic, as it always is in this part of Dorset, a sort of return to the past & an England as it once was & remembered with joy tinged with sadness. That said the room fittings, the service, the cleanliness & the food was well up to & beyond the high standards expected in the 21st C. I'd drive a million miles for the spicy ginger pudding with Dorset clotted cream yum yum. We were lucky to chill out in the small lounge area immediately after an early evening meal but I wonder if there was enough space should all guests have decided to do so later in the evening. I seem to recall two large sofas adjacent to the garden doors currently in the function room which I assume will replace the extra dining tables when the hotel is less busy. Of course guests spending afternoons & evenings in lounges spend less than when dining so I totally respect the possible commercial reasoning. The Grange at Oborne deserves success & thus your support but avoid booking when WE want to visit!!!!

This is a lovely country house hotel away from the noise of main roads yet close to the A30. Our room was spacious and well equipped and our bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is an excellent library of local books and leaflets about the area. The garden is also very pleasant. We couldn't fault it. Highly recommended

This was our second visit to this wonderful hotel and we weren't disappointed. The staff and owners are so friendly and helpful. It is wonderfully clean and the food is excellent. They have a more than sufficient car parking area as well. We will be back next year, and we can't wait. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

Spent a few days at the Grange and found the standard of accommodation was excellent. The restaurant was also very good and had a very good selection on the menu. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel and we hope to visit again in the future.

A traditional country hotel that lives up to its reputation. Attractive garden and good restaurant. Varied menu but could do with a few more entrees at dinner, especially for non-meat eaters. Staff were friendly and efficient.

Another lovely stay at The Grange. This was our 3rd visit to this wonderful hotel. The staff are fantastic and so friendly and welcoming. The food was great and our room was comfortable and clean. Jenny and John are really good hosts and nothing is too much trouble. This has become our favourite place to come for a restful break.

My Son and I attended a Golden Wedding celebration, last Saturday. Our rooms were clean, spacious and very well equipped, with everything for our comfort. The beds were very comfortable. The food for the celebration meal was outstanding, and the service also. The Staff were very attentive, and hard working. Nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed a sunny stroll in the beautiful gardens. A real oasis from the hustle and bustle of London. We look forward to going again, if the opportunity arises.

We stayed in a standard twin room on the first floor recently and in June we stayed in a ground floor deluxe room and both were extemely comfortable. The hotel is located in a small quiet village outside Sherborne with plenty parking on site. The best approach is from the A30. There are 2 narrow lanes from other directions which satnavs sometimes prefer ! The hotel is well run by the family, with a dedicated team of regulars from what I saw. They do take note and action any requests you may have. The dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented and well cooked. It seems popular with locals as a dinner spot , which usually proves somewere is good. We would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely setting. The warm welcome and friendly staff made us feel comfortable at all times. Jenny and John were helpful with advice on the region and there was a plentiful supply of brochures, maps and local walks.

Room freshly redecorated and light and airy with a lovely balcony and view over the gardens. Very comfortable and clean. Bathroom well equipped. Only slight improvement could be to upgrade pillow and quilt although you can ask for pillows if required. Comfortable bed and quirky guest book to amuse. The whole place is beautifully run by a vary friendly team who make you feel incredibly welcome. A definite hit!

Superb meals served by pleasant staff, coupled with spotlessly clean rooms designed for comfort. A friendly family owned business that we have visited many times and if anything, the food is better than ever. It is located in a quiet village and is ideal for a restful break. Very comfortable and well appointed room. We were visiting family nearby so didn't spend a huge amount of time in the hotel. The breakfast was excellent - I really enjoyed the individual pots of yoghurt and fruit and granola and the cooked options were also nice and very well presented. The bed was very comfortable and we slept really well. A gem of a hotel that we will certainly use again.

We booked a single night on the first Sunday in September and wow what a surprise, a concert arranged by the hotel coincided with our arrival! Hotel has beautiful grounds and extremely well appointed, beautiful room overlooking said musical feast, and the staff were all friendly and helpful.

Lovely quiet area, bed very cosy, rooms had everything that we required. Only quibble I had was with check-in, we had a voucher from Love to Shop, which we used to book this 2 night stay, it was a deluxe room with b&b, when checking in I was advised it was room only, I had the booking form which should have been enough, but the gent on reception said he would need to check this and would get back to us, he phoned the room about an hour later and said that he was currently arguing with the company that issues the vouchers, he said it was defo room only, but to come down to breakfast and that he would try and get his money back and if not they would take a loss, I really didn't need to hear all that after paying almost £500, he could have just checked us in and said see you in the morning for breakfast enjoy your stay and then he could have sorted this out without us needing to know. Also there was used coffee & milk pots in the bowl with the other new pods, just a simple missed thing by house keeping, but other than that the break was lovely.

Just returned from a four night stay at the Grange, Oborne. A delightful Family run hotel with a superb atmosphere and welcome. Our family stayed in two rooms, a wheelchair accessible room on the ground floor and also a top floor room. Both rooms were extremely comfortable. The wheelchair accessible room with wet room was extremely well laid-out and had everything we needed. The hotel reception, Lounge bar and restaurant are all level access and wheelchair accessible, the garden has steps down but there is a ramp available. I felt very confident with their Covid safety measures – all staff were wearing masks as were guess. They communicated their Covid arrangements very well and made me feel extremely reassured. We stayed at the hotel on a bed and breakfast basis and had one evening meal. Breakfast was perfect with a good choice of food both cooked and continental. We particularly enjoyed their granola yoghurt and berry pots. Their English breakfasts were cooked to perfection, particularly their poached eggs. Due to already planned dining arrangements we only ate in the restaurant one evening, what a shame – the food was exceptional and a highlight to our holiday. We enjoyed a cocktail or two! Highly recommend their long island iced tea. We would highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay there again in the future. As a wheelchair user I would definitely recommend this country hotel And would like to give a little more detail: I believe there are two wheelchair accessible rooms – we were in room one downstairs looking to the front courtyard. There was an inner hallway to the accessible room – the door was a little heavy but since this was a fire door it is understandable. The rooms were warm but well aired/ventilated with the windows open on arrival. The bed was huge but still lots of room around the bed and furniture to navigate in a wheelchair. There was plenty of accessible cupboards space and drawers. Access to the ensuite was clear and easy to navigate. The actual wet room was lovely and clean with a shower and shower chair to the left. The sink was clear of any under sink Furniture so you can wheel straight under. The sink was a little high but still very manageable. There were no vanity units but there was a shelf under the heated towel rail to put bits and bobs on as well as three glass shelves above the radiator. There was a raised toilet which had handrails eitherside which could be lowered, the hotel also provided a freestanding toilet frame and seat (if needed) to fit over the toilet. I enjoyed using this wet room and did not feel as if I was having to make do with anything – it met my needs from an accessibility point of view. We had lovely night sleeps, bed extremely comfortable and lovely quiet night sleeps. Again, I would highly recommend this hotel.

A joy to stay at the Grange. We all had a lovely time. Food was great and quality. Staff attentive and helpful at all times. Room was lovely and super clean and furbished. Would stay here again in a second!

The hotel is in an idyllic location and easy to locate with plenty of parking. Rooms are of good size and yours on the ground floor had doors into the garden. Garden is well cared for and relaxing. Staff very attentive. Only negative for me was the bed was too hard, but that is personal preference.

Having stayed before, it was a joy to return to the same warm welcome, comfortable, well-equipped room and peaceful location so close to Sherborne. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Thomas Hardy country, or breaking a typical to Cornwall.

We've returned to The Grange many times having held our wedding reception there 11 years ago. Jonathan and Jenny greet their returning guests as long-lost friends and we'd certainly be more frequent visitors if we lived in UK! It's a beautiful hotel in a fantastic setting. I cannot prise this hotel highly enough and would thoroughly recommend it for anyone.

Came for a wedding and an overnight stay and found the staff friendly and helpful, the food was grand, the bedroom was spacious and comfortable, and the garden was lovely. Was somehow cheaper than the local travellodge as well.

Our stay was made even better than our last year visit by service of an even greater quality. Our accommodation was very clean and welcoming. The restaurant and gardens were first class. Special credit goes to the chef and the catering staff for the production of some very fine dining, which even extended to breakfast fayre, I'm pleased to say! Despite the 500 mile round trip, we will be returning! Sooner rather than later!

...but we had such a fantastic stay at the Grange at Oborne that we felt the team deserved one! We stayed here for a friend's wedding - the reception was at the hotel. From before we arrived we knew it was going to be good, as we had one or two requests (relating to our 1-yr old) which we discussed on the phone in advance - everything was sorted and we were made to feel very welcome. The hotel has a real family feel - Jonathan and the team clearly work very hard to give everyone a great stay - friendly, polite, etc. The food was great, and a really fab place to host a wedding reception. We held our wedding reception here in 2017 and return to celebrate our anniversary on the same date every year. The reception, a big birthday and every anniversary dinner have all been brilliant. From our arrival to our departure it was a pleasure to stay in this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful, the room was spacious, clean and homely and the food was superb! Lovely gardens to enjoy an afternoon cup of tea and homemade chocolate cookie.

We had Sunday lunch here last week. Friendly staff and the food was really tasty. Limited menu for Sunday lunch but it is reasonably priced for the quality. Would definitely go there again. A good drinks menu.

The Grange is a really lovely hotel just off the beaten track. Super rooms, great service and an excellent restaurant. Just does exactly what it should do. A real gem that has done the detail really well to create a luxury hotel.

We stayed here for three nights while attending a family occasion locally and taking advantage of being in Dorset to show my wife Sherbourne. The Grange is possible one of the best small country-house hotels anywhere. Both of us are seasoned travellers and The Grange can be compared to the likes of the Woodman Estate on the Mornington Peninsula, south of Melbourne, Australia. And though in a different category to some places we have also stayed, it is up there with the best. The hotel has an attitude, ambiance and care for its guests ( and feed them exceptionally well) that just made our visit a complete delight. One to add to the "visit again" section in the hotel book!

What a wonderful hotel. It is extremely welcoming, the service is excellent, the food is delicious and our room was just lovely. We came to a friends' gathering in Mere and we chose to stay close to Sherborne as my husband was born and brought up there. The last time we were in Dorset was probably over 30 years ago so we looked on the internet, found The Grange and stayed for 3 nights. We'll definitely come again and next time we'll stay for longer as the location is brilliant and there is so much to do in this part of the country.

My experience was not that great - but not the hotel's fault. Firstly the room was incredibly hot - even with windows open. Maybe have a fan or two available? Everything was very quiet until...about 5 am when someone was getting into a car just outside and was talking. Then someone else at 7 am. These factors are of course outside the hotel's control - but it did spoil the experience. Room - excellent. Bed - very comfortable - but I slept on top as room was so hot.

We had a five night stay with dinner bed and breakfast in a disabled room and everything was first class. On-line pre-arrival information was helpful and reassuring and the on-line check in was easy. Our room was spotless and airy and all the staff were friendly and keen to help. The gardens were beautiful and, in the heat, it was wonderful to sit at the tables and have a cool drink. Jon and Jenny were friendly and welcoming and worked tirelessly with the staff to make everyone's stay a safe and enjoyable one. The meals were well prepared, beautifully cooked and had lots of choice. We also had lunch every day and appreciated every meal. Thank you to all staff - from the "I'm New" to Teresa, Holly, JP and Jon and Jenny. We can't thank you enough!!

This is a beautiful hotel in a gorgeous setting and with a really exceptional level of service. Everyone seems completely committed to making sure the guests have a wonderful time. Very well worth booking for dinner, bed and breakfast because the restaurant is excellent, great drinks menu also. Breakfast is very good, and the continental section of the breakfast menu has had as much thought as the cooked section. I completely understand why this hotel gets such fabulous reviews, they are very well deserved.

We had five nights here with dinner, bed and breakfast and enjoyed every minute. We had a superior room which included a sitting area and a comfortable bed - we find most hotel beds are too hard as we get older. The ensuite was fine although we would prefer a separate shower. The food was excellent, with a nice selection of wines, and very good value when on the inclusive package. We particular enjoy being served breakfast rather than the usual buffet style. However the hotel's best attribute is the staff who were faultless and friendly from the managers, Jon and Jenny to the serving staff and chambermaids. Thank you all!

A beautiful place. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The owner was visible and available and the staff were friendly. Slight problem with smell from the drains but was quickly solved. The food was fantastic, and the best breakfast we have had in years.. We'll be back.

Stayed here with my family for one night when visiting people in the area. This is a lovely hotel run by a family. Friendly welcome on arrival. Great attention to detail. Lovely finishing touches throughout the hotel. We had a superior room and our daughters were in a standard room. Both were well-appointed, spacious and comfy. We were booked on Dinner Bed & Breakfast rate. Well worth it. A lovely 3-course dinner with a great selection of cocktails, wine, beer, cider, spirits and soft drinks including mocktails! Overall very pleased we stayed here and will definitely come back.

We have just returned from an excellent 2 night dinner, bed & breakfast stay at the lovely Grange at Oborne. Our superior room was spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable, with a very large double bed, 2 seater sofa and a patio door to a paved outside area with furniture. Food is of a very high standard at The Grange, especially dinner, and is served in an attractive dining room much of which overlooks the garden. The hotel has a calm and relaxed atmosphere with management and staff who are friendly and attentive. We would have absolutely no hesitation in booking another stay (and fully intend to do so) or in recommending this lovely hotel to family and friends Thank-you Jennifer and Jonathan and all your team

Our second visit to The Grange and because of the room refurbishment over the winter, this stay was even better than our last. Beautiful, huge room, with our own patio doors and outdoor space and thankfully the weather to enjoy it!! The room was huge and beautifully furnished. A lovely comfy bed & pillows. Every little detail seems to have been considered, even down the rubbish/recycling bin & bird feeder outside every room, which was so cute to watch the birds enjoying the treats. Great choice of breakfast and we also dined in the restaurant both nights, with a pre-dinner drink in the very cute little bar. Cannot fault this fabulous hotel and restaurant and considering the incredibly different year they have had, the service with a smile feels even more special. Thank you to Jon, Holly and the entire team for another wonderful stay. See you next year!

First time staying at The Grange and generally very happy with the accomodation and value for money. For our taste the bed was very firm but we mentioned this and suggested an optional topper could cater for those wanting a softer sleep! A very relaxing and pleasant place to stay with an attractive garden for tea or drinks. The small bar and lounge were pleasant and relaxed with friendly service always available.

Stayed overnight at the Grange on the way back to London from Cornwall and it was a real gem. The owners & staff were really warm and friendly and the hotel itself is lovely. The room was very comfortable and spacious and everything was spotless. We were invited into the gorgeous little bar for a drink before being served some delicious guinea fowl and confit of duck leg for dinner. Dessert was delicious and the service was very attentive and speedy. They had a good drinks menu and wine list. The hotel is only three stars but don't be fooled - it is punching above its weight. This is what a small family-run place should be. Will definitely be staying here again!

Lovely hotel, we stayed for 5 nights, the hotel is beautiful, very clean and comfortable with high quality furnishings and decor. The owners and staff go the extra mile, the food in the restaurant in the evening was fabulous all fresh and cooked to order. The breakfast was excellent in terms of choice and presentation. Lovely quiet room. Newly refurbished and very much to our taste. The garden is lovely. The evening meal was superb. Only drawback was there was no mobile phone connection as it set in the countryside. We were able to use the hotel bedroom phone free of charge. Lovely friendly staff. Hope to return.

I've already reviewed the restaurant separately - which is very good btw. I didn't realise beforehand that the hotel is managed (and possibly owned?) by a couple, i.e. it's a family business, and the personal touches and attention were very welcome. They obviously bother about their customers. Location is minimally off the beaten track, which didn't matter with a car, but the compensation is that you don't suffer traffic noise and the rural views were lovely. We felt the 3 stars award is pretty mean for what was offered and would be very happy to stay again.

We have visited The Grange on several occasions and the standard of service and quality of accommodation remains as high as ever. We stayed overnight in this country hotel only because another hotel cancelled our booking because refurbishment was incomplete. What luck. The Grange is outstanding in every respect. We received a very warm welcome from JP, were shown to a well equipped room with excellent facilities and had a pre dinner drink in the comfortable lounge. Dinner was fantastic and the hotel is obviously a happy place to work. All the (young) staff were great led by the same JP. What a gem of a hotel

We attended a family wedding at the Grange. The grange were very acomodating and made us all feel at ease. Feeling a little nervous the Covid restrictions would dampen the celebrations I needn't have worried as the Grange made everything feel as normal as they could. The wedding breakfast consisted of an afternoon tea which was plentiful and tasty. The evening meal a 3 course meal which was equally good. At the end of the evening a mix up with the taxis left us in panic. This was no problem for the Grange who gave the family a lift to our nearby hotel.

Lovely clean rooms with tea and coffee machine in your room.well kept gardens with water features. The evening menu was good with a nice choice of dishes. Check out very easy just drop off the key and go. Great stay if you want to just enjoy being in the countryside.

Afternoon tea for a family gathering. Lots of choice and they will cater to any need, very friendly staff who were very accommodating and the service was very quick. Lovely grounds. Little overpriced so would say it is for a special occasion. Lovely garden area. We had a really nice afternoon.

Couldn't fault this small friendly family run hotel. Comfortable well appointed ensuite rooms. Interesting menus and nothing too much trouble for the staff. Excellent peaceful location. Ideal base for visiting at least 5 National Trust properties, as well as Sherborne with its Castle and Abbey along with its nearby neighbour Shaftesbury. We hope to return soon.

Wow. Lovely day for a family wedding, lovely food, incredibly personable and chatty staff, who clearly loved what they do. And a perfect setting. What made the visit even better was that the staff tried 3 different taxi companies at the end of the night, on our behalf. When all 3 said that they were fully booked, the manager, John did two trips to give us all a lift back into Sherbourne himself! What an amazing touch. So friendly! Thank you for an amazing day.

The slight smell of fresh paint and deep cleaning is very welcome evidence of the care and attention to detail lavished here. We visited for lunch and were very happy that we did. We arrived on the first day after lockdown and found everything well prepared for our stay with a lot of care being taken to ensure Covid safety. Throughout the holiday Jenny and all the staff were friendly, helpful and looked after us - we were made to feel like valued guests and we will certainly return when we visit Dorset again.This was a visit that we cannot not fault - thank you so much.

One of the best family-run country hotels I know, with a lovely location, in the middle of one of the most beautiful villages in Dorset, very nice rooms – the whole thing is first-rate professional, and with a family atmosphere.

We spent 3 nights at the Grange as soon as we could. Our room and en-suite was well appointed on the 1st floor overlooking the front of the hotel. Good social distancing measures were in place and the staff were absolutely lovely and welcoming. The atmosphere was really relaxing and the hotel is situated in a quiet village - so peaceful. A lovely location for exploring the Sherborne area. Very quiet but within minutes of the main road into or around Sherborne. Plenty of parking. Good standard of food and wine/ I had breakfast and dinner x 2. Comfortable spacious room- I had a deluxe.

We have just returned from a lovely short break at the Grange. The hotel is charming and comfortable. We stayed in the accessible room and it was perfect for my disabled husband. Jenny, Jon and all the staff were welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. This is now our favourite hotel and we'll definitely return for another visit.

Large room with all the facilities I needed. Room was spotless and I felt safe with all the Covid measures they had taken. Housekeeping is not provided at the moment to reduce contact. It had underfloor heating, I think, so the room was nice and toasty. Very quiet location close by to picturesque Sherborne for shops etc. I slept well, although the mattress and pillow felt like they were nearing the end of their life in room 8. Staff very welcoming and friendly in all areas. I left some items behind in the room and they went to the trouble of posting these to my home address :) Very good breakfast included in my rate. Extensive hot and cold menu. Thank you for the pre-lockdown break. I would happily stay here again!

Everyone was friendly, very professional and COVID aware. The bedrooms were not entered by staff during our stay which was very reassuring, we just kept it tidy, normally do anyway. Comfortable lounge with fire and nicely appointed dining room.

This hotel is very covid compliance and we did not feel at risk. Small friendly hotel. Beautiful, quiet and comfy room. Bed was very good and we had a great undisturbed night sleep. We found the food of a high quality for a hotel. Extremely happy.

The Grange has all the efficiency of a large hotel set in a family run hotel in a beautiful setting. Clean, comfortable, peaceful, with an excellent restaurant. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff. Would gladly stay there again.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing break at The Grange. It was our second visit and more than lived up to our expectations. Our room was clean and well equipped. We felt adequate Covid precautions were in place. The hotel is well located for visiting Dorset and Somerset. Would definitely recommend.

The Grange are very well prepared for the current difficult situation. All staff and guests wear masks in public areas. The rooms are not being serviced during your stay, which means that no-one but you enters. We wonder if this might be a choice people can make in the future as it was quite nice not to have to 'tidy up' all the time! It is a sweet country house hotel, situated in a lovely little village. The staff were polite and helpful and we had a very pleasant stay.

Amazing staff. Had a family emergency and they changed dates and pushed back the reservation and were very flexible. We even got a room upgrade. Very kind! Lovely large spacious rooms, extra touches, delish coffee and tea, beautiful balcony overlooking garden and surrounds. Beautiful setting if you want peace and quiet and the restaurant will cater for all your breakfast and dinner needs!

We have enjoyed dinner here several times before but this time followed up with an overnight stay to celebrate a very special occasion. Our room was quirky but magnificent, with a comfortable, wide 4 poster bed, lovely views of two aspects of the spacious garden and patio doors giving access to a large, wisteria-fringed sitting-out area, which would be so enjoyable and relaxing in warm weather. Our dinner was full of delicious tastes and was of the high standard we have come to expect of this quaint old venue, and the service as pleasant and discreet as always. Our one disappointment came with the quality of the breakfast: my full English was artistically presented but the effect and the taste were spoiled by the bacon, which was tough (presumably because it had been pre-cooked and kept warm) and excessively greasy. My wife's disappointment came with her croissant, which was beautifully crisp on the outside but doughy and chewy in the middle. Such a shame that an otherwise perfect stay should be impaired by such small but unnecessary inadequacies. We were interested to see what adjustments had been made throughout the premises to take account of the government guidelines on anti-Covid measures and felt completely safe.

First time stay at this hotel, extremely impressed. Room good - clean and good standard of furnishings. Food excellent - dinner well above typical 3 star hotel standard. Would certainly stay again if ever in this area.

Came here for a couple of nights break to get away from the noise where I live. It was blissfully quiet, and the only traffic I saw in the morning were the ducks crossing the road to the river. Wonderful room with lovely balcony over the garden. Fantastic dinner brought to my room. Highly recommend. COVID measures all in place for a very reassuring stay. Spent most of the time in my room working or out walking so didn't see many staff, but those I did were very friendly and welcoming. I will certainly be back if I need another break and will recommend to others. Thank you.

We enjoyed a super one night stay and wished we had booked for longer! The welcome was special and everything from the rooms to the bar and dinner and breakfast just spot on. Everything 'covid' was dealt with carefully but without intrusion. my 88 year old mother was comfortable with it all

Lovely 3 night break with good food wine is a little bit expensive but the rooms are comfortable. Sherborn is beautiful an only 1 1/2 miles away with a lovely Cathedral well worth a visit, the town is very quant.

We stayed just one night in September. Room was spacious, well equipped and good bathroom. The restaurant was excellent. Great food and friendly and efficient staff. We had confit duck leg for main and dessert was delicious.

Lovely stay at The Grange, nice location - quiet, peaceful, felt very safe and staff polite, courteous. Our third visit and we'll definitely return. Lots to do in the near area. Sherborne Castle & Gardens worth visiting as is the nearby garden centre. National Trust Montacute House great and the house is open which was a lovely surprise.

A family run hotel providing excellent service, quality of food and value for money. Our room was well furnished with a wet room plus bath. All very covid safe. A full breakfast menu was available, all waiter service. The evening menu gave choice for all 3 courses and a full wine list. Plenty of parking. As it is built on a slight hill access from the parking end of the building was almost stair free to the first floor. We enjoyed our chats with the owner. It is our most favourite Best Western so far and we will definitely have it on our list when we visit the south west again. The hotel is on a quiet country lane so it is peaceful and quiet at night. A wonderful 3 night stay.

We wanted to combine a weekend away in Dorset with a family tree tracking mission. Needing to be near to Sherborne and Yeovil for our investigations we chose The Grange at Oborne as our base. Tucked away on the edge of the pretty village of Oborne, very rural, transport essential, we could not have chosen a better location. We are mature travellers and prefer hotels with history and character. When we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome and it was explained to us that under covid-19 rules there would be minimal contact e.g. no use of paper menus. Our spacious room overlooked the quiet front courtyard, with free car parking at the side of the hotel. We liked the aesthetic design of the furnishings in the room itself, particularly the huge sleigh bed. We made use of the ironing board and iron to remove wrinkles acquired on route before hanging our clothes in a wardrobe with plenty of hangers. Facilities to make tea or coffee in our room were enhanced by the addition of a seating area. The room was complimented by a modern bathroom, robes, slippers, and toiletries. The public areas of the hotel were quirky using old documentation and the history of the hotel (when it was two private dwellings) as areas of interest to adorn the walls. On both evenings we ate in the hotel restaurant and were not disappointed with the quality and presentation of the food. Breakfast was of an equal standard. The vegetarian options were not disappointing either. Everything was freshly cooked and well presented. Oborne itself is a short drive to Sherborne, which is an historic market town. We enjoyed nosing around the Saturday street market and delightfully different small shops. We were however disappointed not to be able to visit the Abbey and the Museum, once again due to Covid-19. We found all the staff at the hotel very friendly and accommodating and we would not hesitate to recommend The Grange to anyone who was thinking of staying in the Sherborne and Yeovil area.

We had a wonderful single-night stay at the Grange at Oborne. From pre-check-in to post-check-out the whole experience was excellent. It was the first time we had stayed at a hotel since Covid arrived in this country and the measures that had been put in place really made us feel safe. Breakfast was a particular highlight, with quality and quantity of food provided far exceeding our expectations!

Birthday treat for my brothers 75 birthday. He had room 4 with 4 poster bed and fabulous terrace overlooking the garden. Our room 12 also excellent with access to outside seating and the garden. The staff as always friendly and helpful and the food excellent Ellen's, both dinner and breakfast. I always have poached eggs and they sort out the good cooks. White properly cooked, runny yoke and no water on the plate. What more coulda girl ask?

Jenny and Johnathan are a vibrant couple who are nice to be around. Their own and their staff's thoroughly pleasant, professional and personally attentive manner make staying here a great experience. The food was delicious and well prepared. Both the breakfast and evening dinner choices were varied ( we had the lamb with apricots - super! ). Generally the ambience was pleasant and relaxing - a gem of a place tucked away in the countryside, yet close to Sherborne and other interesting places. We would certainly stay again. No wonder it's so popular!

Obviously with the ongoing Covid-19 issues we were concerned about staying, especially as we have been shielding since the beginning of March (our daughter being extremely medically vulnerable). I soon realised I didn't need to be worried as the hotel are really on top of that. Masks were worn by all staff, social distancing was observed, cleanliness was second to none. The restaurant was really spaced out well. Windows and doors were open where possible and I did feel very safe, which I wasn't expecting. The Grange is a lovely old country hotel with beautiful gardens and views. It would make a perfect wedding venue (and indeed we did get married there last year!) but what makes The Grange so special to us (apart from the food - which is unbelievably good - recommend the pork belly -omg- and the goats cheese and onion jam!) is the staff. Jenny and Jon are the family owners and are amazingly welcoming and kind - perfect hosts! They even arranged for us to eat dinner outside (we were very lucky with the weather!) and we had an amazing anniversary candlelit dinner in the beautiful garden. So romantic! The staff work so hard to make sure guests feel welcome. Kirsty, and Teresa are lovely but all the staff play their part in this exceptionally well run and comfortable hotel. So we would like to say a big thank you to all the kitchen staff, bar and serving staff, housekeeping, and grounds keeping staff. I have no hesitation in recommending The Grange to anyone and highly recommend that you eat in the restaurant (you'll need to book this because it is deservedly very popular!) We stayed in room 4 which has a 4 poster bed and a large balcony with outdoor seating, the railings around are covered in wisteria. Lovely views of garden, and very quiet and relaxing. Perfect stay!

This country house hotel was an amazing find. Both the owners and the staff were amazing and extremely friendly nothing was too much trouble. The room was lovely and clean and all the measures put in place for what is an unusual time. We would not hesitate to recommend this Hotel and will certainly be returning for another stay.

A gem....we arrived with two other family members,our first visit and certainly not the last! A genuinely warm welcome from Jon who ran through the Covid procedures before giving us our keys. After settling into our lovely room with large comfortable bed,sofa and chair,we met in the very pretty garden for a well earned cuppa! Dinner that night was beautifully presented,all courses were delicious. We will definitely be returning as one night was not enough!

We have just enjoyed two nights at this outstanding, privately run, hotel. The staff were attentive, always friendly and helpful but completely professional. Our room was quiet and comfortable and we had a view of the delightful garden where we enjoyed our evening pre-dinner drinks. But the absolute highlight was the dining room where we enjoyed superb food - some of the very best, and all beautifully prepared and served with the highest quality and freshest ingredients. The attention to our safety in these Covid days was of the highest and we already look forward to returning! I absolutely agree with everything written by janeydan60

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the hotel. Our room was comfortable and well equipped. The food was superb and all the staff were friendly and accommodating and made us feel relaxed. The safety measures in place for Covid are good. I was thrilled to see there was a collection of local history books, maps and walks that unfortunately due to Covid we were unable to borrow, but there are lots of nice touches to make this hotel stand out. I couldn't have had a nicer stay and would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

This was our first stay at The Grange and we were very impressed. It is a beautiful old country manor house, that has been converted to be a cosy, welcoming hotel in a beautiful part of Dorset. A short walk (or even shorter drive) to Sherborne, which is a beautiful old Abbey town and well worth a visit (the Castle gardens are stunning and worth a wander round). We stayed B&B, but also chose to dine in the hotel both evenings, due to recommendation from friends. We were so pleased we did, the food and restaurant service were excellent and good value for money. We had a Superior Room, which was large, with a double bed and separate sofa by the TV and lovely view of the hotel's surrounding lovely garden. This was our first mini break since the outbreak of Covid, so we were slightly nervous & not sure what to expect from a hotel stay. But we had no need to be. Considering the strange new masked world we're now living in, the team at the Hotel made us feel so comfortable, safe & welcome, that the new normal soon felt normal! From the efficient & almost contactless check in/check out (they email you to check in online ahead of your arrival, so you just collect your key when you get there), to the spotless lovely room (extra care clearly taken to comply with Covid guidance), to the great food choice and service (again, all menus available through an app or on the Guest Information section of the website, to avoid physical contact with menus where possible). The team were all great, having adapted so well to the new Covid compliant environment. I can't imagine how tough it has been for the Hospitality sector, but The Grange team are shining examples of how it can work well. A huge thanks to Jon, Jenny and the whole team. We will definitely be returning to this lovely hotel in the future.

Had an absolutely fabulous time at the Grange. Stunning hotel, immaculate bedroom which came with a 4 poster bed & a balcony furniture & a wonderful view. The food was delicious. Will definitely be back! Would certainly recommend a stay.

Situated in Oborne with nothing in walking distance but very comfortable and peaceful. The evening meals were very nice, the lamb could do with more sauce or some in a servers as optional as it was exceptional. The four poster room is very nice and the other rooms are clean and clean. Bathroom somewhat small but manageable. Breakfast was okay and a little slow, but the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. If you're after good food, nice place to stay and peace to re charge then this could be a good option. We certainly enjoyed our visit and would recommend.

Nothing was too much trouble at The Grange. Great attention to detail and the coolest Social distancing reminder notices we have seen anywhere. We were nervous about a holiday but this lovely hotel in Oborne was perfect.

We came to the Grange as our first post Lockdown days away; my partner had been shielding until March and was looking forward to it with the excitement of a little kid. We were not disappointed; we were allocated a beautiful, tranquil bedroom, which led directly onto the gardens. The entire staff speak fluent Covid; during our first meal at the restaurant I found it really moving that no pepper mill made it back into the cupboard, of which I had a good view, without being individually spray-cleansed and wiped. The menu is varied and enticing; I can certainly vouch for the seabass, which we enjoyed at supper, and the kippers which are available for breakfast. Obviously no-one wants an accident on holiday or at any other time, but my partner fell backwards, hit her head, and we needed to call an ambulance. This was just before midnight. Jon was fantastic. Calm, knowledgeable, focused, and yes, caring. I honestly felt that I was with family. When I returned from the hospital the next day a note was waiting for me saying, as was already obvious, that nothing would be too much trouble, and to call on the staff for anything I needed. My partner is recovering, and today we discussed how and when we might arrange a return visit. Don't forget to take a 6.00 pm stroll during the evening, before a drink at the bar; the local ducks do that (the stroll, not the drink, as far as I know). And for those nerds among you, yes, you can charge your car at the Grange.

A fantastic place to stay, a little out of the way but great service, great food and the friendliest staff. Definitely worth a visit. Great for families, solo or couples. Well within range for interesting day trips.

We decided to go a return to The Grange for our first get away after Lockdown as we knew from previous stays just how good they are. John welcomed us and efficiently went through all the details of our stay for safety . All details are obtainable, including menus, on an excellent website. Our room, number 4, was just wonderful with four poster bed ( very comfortable) and a perfect roof terrace for private use with balustrades covered in wisteria, so pretty. Meals are so well organised, Kirstie, Theresa and JP are just wonderful in getting our orders to us. The menu is amazing and delicious, compliments to the chef. At all times we felt safe and glad we decided on The Grange, here's to the next time.

Came here for the first time last year and just loved it. Loved it just as much this trip. It's a wonderful place in scenic country with great rooms and good food. You can't ask for much more than that. But, as others have said, what really makes this place is the service. Staff are so welcoming, happy to help you with anything, and it just gives the entire hotel a homey feel. Will keep coming back for sure!

We were luckily enough to have our wedding reception here 8 years ago so were keen to reminisce. Great to see that not much has changed in this time apart from the added comfort of sanitizers, QR code menus and social distancing in place. It's still the same friendly owners that greet you on arrival, the same beautiful gardens and a fantastic whisky selection! A cosy hotel that goes above and beyond to make your stay a comfortable, enjoyable experience

My husband and myself came to The Grange today for a lunchtime meal. It was the first time we had ventured out since the lockdown began in March as we have been shielding. We had asked to sit outside as it was a beautiful day and we ate in the lovely garden under the shade of a tree. The atmosphere was totally tranquil, staff beautifully attentive and the meal was excellent. There was a good menu choice, we thoroughly enjoyed our short visit and can't wait to visit again.

Jenny and Jon and their staff have done a remarkable job in preparing their hotel for guests post lockdown. We found, notwithstanding the restrictions, our stay at the hotel to be very relaxing and a thoroughly enjoyable break. The hotel has managed to negotiate beautifully that difficult path between compliance and informality that is their hallmark. The food was excellent and their whole team were very welcoming. This is our second visit to the hotel and we were not disappointed - we will be coming again.

When hotels were opening again, the first place we thought of was The Grange at Oborne. We knew, from previous visits, that we would be well looked after. We also knew that they would make sure everything was in place for the safety of guests and staff. We were not disappointed. Everything was as close to " the real thing" as was possible, and all the extra precautions never really intruded. They were there when you looked for them but there was no need to keep on looking... we got on with enjoying our visit. Well done to Jenny ,Jon and all the staff.

I honestly cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the beds are comfortable, the food is delicious, and they have a great selection of drinks. The location is great too, and the grounds are stunning. However the one thing that sets this hotel apart from others is the staff. Every single person is so friendly and helpful. You will arrive here to stay at a hotel, and leave feeling as though you've made new friends for life. I've recommended to family and friends, and all who visit absolutely love it here.

Wonderful food, excellent service and beautiful accommodation all hidden in an exquisite Dorset village. The location is quiet and tranquil with lovely gardens however it offers good WiFi connections and is close to places of interest in both Dorset and Somerset.

Thanks for the hospitality host, we asked to add a bed and bothered the customer service several times, plus our English aren't fluent, but the hosts are still patient, friendly and professional. We had a long day travelling, and when the sun going down, when we finally arrived and it made me feel emotional to see the fairy lighted cozy house, and I feel welcomed. The place indeed gives us a feeling of home.

Can not praise the Grange enough. Organised a 50th Birthday lunch for 28 people ( originally 34 ) wish I knew the words to express the wonderful service in preparing the occasion and then the day itself. All our guests expressed what a wonderful venue and fantastic food. We can honestly not criticised the Grange and their staff at all.

Would highly recommend - excellent service, far beyond expectations. I attended a sizable and formal function at the hotel on 23rd Nov 19 and I was most impressed with this jewel of a venue. My car got stuck on an area of grass (not their fault - my choice to drive off the hard standing). I was in a dinner suit so was quite unhappy at my mistake and explained this at reception. With out delay or question the manager and several members of staff came and helped to push my car free. They didn't have to do this, as mentioned it was my fault but it did help me to enjoy the evening without wondering how I would get the car out after. The evening from there went from strength to strength. The food was outstanding, the service friendly and professional and the facilities were clean and of the highest quality. Please don't let the delay in presenting this review give the wrong impression. I was hugely impressed with this hotel in every respect and would strongly recommend for either a full function or a quiet evening - in a beautiful setting. Thank you The Grange. R

Very enjoyable stay at the Grange. An excellent late supper was provided for us after our unexpected late arrival following a car breakdown. Very good breakfast options, excellent meal in restaurant, very pleasant hotel all round, lovely location.

I've not stayed overnight at the Grange, so I can't comment on the rooms, but they hosted an afternoon function for me (approx 40 people) recently and did a very nice job. Good food, helpful staff and a very pleasant ambience all round, and in a beautiful setting. Recommended

This hotel is really very good indeed and made a welcome change from the numerous travel lodges I've stayed in. Whilst they may be part of a chain/franchise, they have a really personal service, the food was excellent (I noted most diners were not staying, so it is good enough to attract people just for food), location/surroundings lovely and quiet, with a garden at the back and rooms overlooking. I liked the local biscuits and tea and the note under my door to tell me what the weather would be tomorrow. I would stay again.

Superb Boxing Day family lunch, even better than last year. Smooth efficient service, good atmosphere and ambiance, food absolutely perfect. A most pleasurable 3 hours spent in comfortable surroundings. We've already booked for next year!

We spent three nights over Xmas at the Grange. The owners and staff worked incredibly hard and nothing was ever too much trouble. Everyone went out of their way to make sure that the guests had a fabulous time. The very plentiful food was beautifully presented and first class. Our room was everything that we wanted and spotlessly clean. The surprise gift hanging on the door on Xmas morning was a nice touch. There is a choice of two large lounges both equally comfortable and including reading material and games and a welcoming log fire. The garden is nice for a stroll round, even in winter, and the rural location lends itself to walks and exploring further afield if the weather permits. Oborne village itself is attractive and interesting. If you are looking for a relaxing break in lovely countryside at a very comfortable hotel, then I would thoroughly recommend the Grange.

I was booked into this hotel by the organisation organising the event and we had Christmas Dinner there. The acoomodation, staff, venue and food were all to a very high standard and I look forward to staying here again either for business or pleasure

This is a pretty hotel up a quiet lane in Oborne. We were met at reception by a friendly member of staff who once checked in showed us to our room. The room was tastefully decorated with a double bed, two chairs and a wall mounted tv. Tea and coffee facilities were on the windowsill. The bathroom was bright and we had a bath rather than shower. So how was our stay? Day one all ok apart from 10 or so “short” hairs that were stuck to the bath and shower wall. Although not pleasant a quick rinse with the shower was sufficient. Bed was very firm and the pillows quite solid. If you like REALLY firm beds you'll love this. Condensation seems a real problem. The pictures show the extent. It seems a pity the curtains can't be washed regularly as this certainly didn't look short term mildew. The next morning however is when it all went wrong. My partner had a bath and when I went to shower after her...no hot water! Having washed in the basin we went to breakfast. We told the manager who went to investigate and returned confirming there was no hot water. The reason given? We and two other couples had rooms all on one tank so all the water may have been used. I do not expect to be told this. It is totally unacceptable for a hotel that claims to be 3 star to have an issue like this. I was offered the use of another room to shower but having got dressed and sat about to eat breakfast, I declined the offer. The manager offered to reduce the cost of the stay as compensation. Breakfast was a choice of continental or full English. Large pot of tea or coffee to accompany. We chose full English and it was lovely. This hotel is lovely to stay at, with staff willing to help wherever possible. Just make sure you're up early to get your shower in.

Excellent catering for 30+ people over lunch and afternoon AGM. Food was excellent, good service and no confusion over who was having what. Good size portions without being overwhelmed, tasty food nicely presented. Good facilities for groups of 30 - 80 weddings are well done I have heard also Already booked for next year

A very pleasant 2 night stop en route back home from Devon, this boutique hotel is located on the edge of a small, pretty village (a few houses and a church) in an idyllically quiet spot, with no noise or traffic. Sadly the weather didn't allow us to enjoy the outside. Family-run with the backing of the Best Western name, it is a friendly, homely setting and clearly a popular venue with a good reputation for its restaurant. Very pleasant room, good-sized, overlooking the garden with en-suite. Very clean with fresh linen and towels, tea and coffee provision, tv and sofa. Breakfast and dinner was comprehensive with good range of choice, beautifully prepared, cooked and presented. Service was excellent, ambience and surroundings were quietly enjoyable with limited hard surfaces and no background music - a particular issue I often have with restaurants. Sometimes being incommunicado is attractive but one significant shortcoming of the location is the poor connectivity in the area both broadband and phone signal - ( I understand they are hopeful that improvements will soon be forthcoming ) - I hate it but one cannot ignore the role it plays in our lives now. Wi-fi in the hotel is there but slow and limited. Quite expensive but very worthwhile for the quality of stay and the peacefulness. Would certainly recommend it.

Loved this hotel,friendly and helpful staff, good food and a comfortable and beautifully decorated room with sliding doors leading to a small terrace. Very quiet area so a relaxing stay. I felt that a little very quiet and gentle classical music would have added to the ambience in the evening. Sitting in the Lounge and the Restaurant, it just needed something more to complete the peaceful atmosphere.

Stayed at this hotel a few years ago and still very impressed with the setup. Small number of rooms and quiet location. Our room had balcony with views over the enclosed garden. Good selection for evening meal which we both enjoyed. Breakfast also had wide selection of options with freshly - cooked to order - food.Staff friendly and helpful.

Here we feel comfortable, relaxed welcome in quality accommodation, good facilities and tasty cuisine. This hotel is a gem in character and setting. All the staff are friendly, efficient and helpful and we always look forward to our next visit.

A very nice hotel in a very quiet position but handy distance away from Sherborn and the surrounding areas. Very comfortable rooms good food and excellent helpful staff plenty of parking.The rooms were of a good size with good facilities.

We stayed here as a group of classic car enthusiasts. The hotel looked after us very well. The staff were friendly and efficient, the food was really good - especially as they we catering for 30 of us, and the rooms were beautifully furnished / fitted and in good order. There's some nice gardens to sit in and we were blessed with good weather too. It was really everything we like in a hotel, and delivered very well too.

Our small group stayed again for two nights at this hotel and again loved it. We two had a huge room, with plenty of space to unpack our things, including in the bathroom, which had a rubber bath mat provided without asking - a key wish of mine! Everywhere was gloriously quiet, the food was truly first class, and the staff were amazingly efficient, friendly and professional. Breakfasts were good, with a cold buffet and hot things cooked to order and served promptly. We are still making plans to go back on our own to this lovely part of the country - we've now seen it in spring and autumn and it's hard to choose. I see from my previous review that I commented that the bed was comfortable and the wi-fi excellent. Sadly this time wasn't quite so good. Although we slept quite well we found this bed rather hard and the wi-fi non-existent in our room. We were told this is because they are awaiting super fast fibre, but if it was good last time perhaps it is really because there aren't enough boosters around the hotel? Only a minor point in what was a really great stay in one of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed in..

We decided on a micro / just the two of us / elopement type of Wedding and picked The Grange at Oborne for its picturesque, hidden-away, romantic, countryside feel. It was a perfect day, and a perfect stay! I couldn't have wished for more. I'm still on cloud nine! From the very first tentative email I sent outlining our ideas for our wedding, to checking out, the whole experience was wonderful. It is a very special, family run hotel. Not at all like a chain hotel (I think “Best Western Hotels” are more like a membership/affiliation type of thing because the hotel is still owned by the family themselves.) The welcome and attention we received was so friendly and warm and the hotel was spotlessly clean and comfortable, even managing to feel homely in the lounge. When we first visited back in January there was a lovely open fire, and last week (early September 2019) when we arrived (in time for Sunday Lunch - highly recommended!) the doors were open to the beautifully landscaped sunny gardens. Our room was traditionally furnished, in keeping with the old building, boasting a four poster bed, fire place, large outdoor balcony covered in Wisteria (bet it looks amazing in April/May!) - beautifully tiled bathroom too. The WiFi was mostly fair - good, but the thick stone walls were sometimes an issue. Rural internet isn't great anyway, but to be perfectly honest, it worked well enough to send wedding pics and videos to family, and I wasn't wanting to stream Netflix on my honeymoon anyway! The restaurant was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Hands down the best hotel restaurant food we have ever eaten (and my husband was a very good chef). The menu changes daily and there was always something to tempt and delight us on the menu. The restaurant is unsurprisingly popular so make sure you book! I rather like the way the restaurant does things at The Grange. They seat you in the lounge, serve drinks there and take your order, and when your food is ready seat you in the restaurant. It's a relaxing and nice way of doing things and adds to the dining experience. The wine list is very good, and the service is exceptional. Young enthusiastic staff, very welcoming. Breakfast was incredible - I've never seen so much choice! I recommend the home made granola, crunchy and a bit chewy - delicious! The full English was fantastic as was the continental breakfast we ate in our room (meats, cheeses, fruit, pastries... YUM!) Every single meal we ate there was utterly delicious, without exception. If you are lucky enough to visit, make sure to try the home made ice cream (OMG) Our micro-wedding was perfect. The Grange probably do a lot of much larger weddings than ours (I noticed a beautiful, large banqueting room) but we were perfectly accommodated in their Wessex Room for the ceremony (wood panelled, heavily curtained with chandeliers). It felt intimate, classic and romantic. We even had our Spotify wedding playlist on low in the background. The Dorset Registrars who came out to marry us were fantastic too, very friendly and warm. It poured with rain that day (Advice for brides (and/or grooms!) - bring a lighted mirror, as I did, for make up) which was a bit of a shame since the gardens are beautiful for pictures, but The Grange has a large conservatory area which was actually quite brilliant for photos. We wanted everything no-fuss/ low-key (and we were on a budget) so instead of a photographer we opted for phone camera selfies! The staff helped us with these, recording the ceremony on my phone while taking pics with the other phone! We even got a group shot with a selfie stick. Lots of fun! We even had two of the hotel staff act as our witnesses! And that brings me to the main reason you should visit The Grange...the staff... THE STAFF AT THE GRANGE ARE THE BEST! Particularly Kirsty, and the husband and wife managers, Jonathan and Jenny. They were incredible, so welcoming, warm and friendly, that it actually felt a bit like staying with old friends! The little romantic touches made us feel so special, writing words of congratulations on our dessert plates in chocolate, putting our wedding flowers on our restaurant table, opening champagne for us after the wedding, throwing confetti over us for pictures with their charming daughters... never have we stayed anywhere and felt as relaxed, indulged and thoroughly spoilt as we did at The Grange. We plan to go back every year on our anniversary. It couldn't have been more perfect and I have zero hesitation in recommending them for an over night, a lovely long stay, or your own special day!

Stayed here for 2 nights when attending a wedding nearby. Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Large room and comfortable bed. The food in the restaurant was very good. Close to Sherborne but in quiet village location.

A wonderful accidental find with great staff and a lovely room. The service was excellent with good choices for both dinner and breakfast. The very friendly family and staff made us feel welcome and exceptionally helpful. We will stay again when passing in this direction.

This place is magic! The rooms are beautifully decorated and cosy and ours had a large balcony overlooking the tiny village. Breakfasts are good and the evening meals outstanding. The ambience is very welcoming and every member of staff was well trained and very pleasant. We will certainly go again.

Would have been 5 stars, room, corridors, doors and lounge grubby and neglected. Bathroom tiles mouldy. Very relaxing and pretty place. Garden very nice. Food excellent. Most staff were temporary, which was a great shame

Oborne is a quintessential Dorset village bordering the beautiful market town of Sherborne, probably a mile and a half walk away. Stayed in this charming Country House Hotel for three nights in April as a base to explore Dorset. The room was expansive, quiet and very comfortable with a superb en-suite wet room. The hotel has a classy (but not snobbish) ambience, lovely grounds and great breakfasts. Staff were particularly helpful and welcoming, were prepared to make sandwiches when the chef had gone home - special mention to young Frankie who really looked after us. If you are looking for a peaceful and restful haven then would recommend The Grange.

Stayed for a couple of nights back end of last year. Lovely hotel, great food, room was huge! hosts great and very accommodating. a thirty minute walk into Sherborne with all its delights. as a base was perfect.

I was here as a wedding guest and was most impressed with this hotel.It is a great wedding venue that lends itself so well to such a happy occasion.The staff were attentive , friendly and most of all efficient which helped the day proceed very well. The Grange nestles in the pretty Dorset village of Oborne. This family run hotel is very friendly and handy for visiting this lesser known part of Dorset. The owner/managers are right at the centre of village life. Try to catch the annual ‘Opera in Oborne' weekend at the beginning of August.

A 2 night stay playing golf in The South of England Boys Championships. This was my first time alone in a hotel without my parents being with me, haven stayed at previous Best Western hotels 3 within 12 months I knew what to expect. I don't write many reviews but for a chain hotel, this was lovely, a real gem. Not like a chain at all, and more similar to a luxury hotel at £300/night. Excellent food and drink, but the reason for the review is the staff were so nice on reception, not like the gruff attitude you get in some places. Lots of waitresses, good food menu, nice garden and balcony. A real country house hotel.

All staff were so friendly, garden lovely. We had a room with a balcony which we sat out on very quite and peaceful. We stayed for three nights but really did not want to come home. The food was very good. The Manager and his Wife always had time to stop and have a chat which makes you feel welcome. We would certainly come again and would not hesitate to recommend to people.

The Grange is a lovely country house hotel just outside the village of Oborne. We stayed there for a couple of nights whilst visiting Sherborne Castle. Breakfast whas excellen and freshly cooked to order. This does make the service a bit slower that the buffet bar adopted by other hotels but the food is worth the wait, There are two dinner menues a two or theree course fixed price one and a grazers menu. We ate from both and hte food was excellent. You may need to request the grazers menu. The wifi was excellent however the internet connection is currently a bit slow, which is to be expected for a country location. I understand that they are getting FTP in the autumn which will speed things up. If you drive an electric car you need to be aware that the charging point at the front of the hotel is currently ou of service as it is being upgraded. I understant this shopould be com[leted in the next few weeks. The hotel is located in a valley so the mobile signal is a bit patchy. This was not a problem as far as I was concerned. The above

We often go to Devon for our summer holidays but like to take a couple of days to get there and back to visit other places. The journey was unkind to us so took longer than expected to arrive. We stopped at Sherborne to visit the castle and then headed to the hotel. Very friendly welcome & a lovely new member of staff (sorry didn't catch his name). Very peaceful place with a nice garden to enjoy a G&T (or two)! You sit in a car with teenage sisters! Dinner was lovely & the staff nice. Breakfast was also good. I mentioned on checkout an issue we had with our room (nothing that could have been fixed as external forces were at work). It was dealt with efficiently and with complete professionalism. 10 out of 10 for their service. Would recommend.

A really pleasant stay. The location, if as we do, you like peace and quiet would be hard to beat, had the windows open all night and heard nothing but bird song in the mornings. We visited some beautiful national trust properties whilst here and there are a number within a fairly short distance, Stourhead and Montacute house to name a couple. Any down sides? My poached eggs hadn't been drained so breakers was in a small puddle and the Bitter shandy was flat. Neither a major issue and certainly nothing that would prevent me thoroughly recommending this hotel and its staff.

Rooms are old and look (maybe are) dirty, shower and toilet are 'aged', the curtain is useless and there is no manner to obscure the window, so the room at 5 am is fully lighted. The breakfast does not really offer anything simple for people not used to cooked meals like eggs, salmon etc... There is no mobile signal and the Wi-Fi connection is very very poor. To be avoided if possible.

just would like to say,went for a dinner for annual austin car rally,lots of our members were staying there,to there delight,all the members said how great it was,the dinner was very good,service great,&the best thing,the manager John took us back to our hotel 10 mls away,as our taxi couldnt get to us for 2 hrs.bless him.a new car delivered that day, on top of that it was pouring.what fantastic service. such a nice man.so on the hole fantasic hotel,perfect spot,fantastic staff.THANK YOU JOHN. steph long.

We were asked to arrange an event requiring accommodation for approximately 30 people. Having read the reviews we decided to visit the Grange at Oborne and from that first visit we received first class treatment. Jon, the hotel manager, was always available for a phone call or an email and offered us helpful advice. The event took place last weekend and we have had many complimentary comments from our members who booked to stay at the hotel. In addition we hosted a dinner for 50 people on Saturday evening and again the service was excellent. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel and we certainly plan to visit again. It is located in a beautiful, peaceful area with wonderful views across the countryside from the upstairs corridor windows. We had French doors from our room leading to a patio where we were able to sit and enjoy a restful few hours with a book.

This is a family run hotel in a quiet spot where we have previously stayed and returned because it was good. Lovely room, superb evening meal, reasonably priced wine list, excellent breakfast and a comfortable overnight stay. Surprised that there is no fridge provided in the room, however.

We found this after selecting the area and doing our norm taking research. We have stopped way BW before and always found them good value. This was no exception. Couldn't fault out in any way. We plumped for a queen deluxe and couldn't have asked for more. The hotel is beautifully countryfied and we couldn't believe how nice the room was with a four poster bed, setee and balcony. The ambience and the setting was awesome , just the ticket. We only started B&B, but the restaurant seemed to be popular. The breakfast was fantastic, order what you want as a cooked breakfast,but also great yourself to some cereal or continental style. Full of flavour and value for money. The location is also really good,not far from the sea and the lovely town of Sherborne with its Christopher Wren heritage. Totally enjoyable, relaxing and worth a second visit.

We enjoyed our 2 nights in a lovely big bedroom with large windows opening to the garden. Very quiet and comfortable; we liked the little attentions like the note on the weather forecast for the next day slipped under the bedroom door in the evening. The food is good (breakfast and evening meal) and we discovered a new french wine !

We held a celebratory lunch at The Grange for 25 guests following our son's wedding earlier this month. We were delighted with all aspects of the service. The hotel is stylishly and tastefully furnished, while the food from an inventive menu was delicious was beautifully presented. Jenny and Jonathan's management style is highly professional, but unobtrusive and relaxed. We would certainly recommend The Grange without any hesitation.

A lovely quiet hotel set on the edge of a quiet village. Lovely staff, good food, and comfortable room. Surprised it was only 3*. We selected D, B&B which was a great choice to enjoy a summer evening looking onto the garden

We had heard good reports of this hotel and it's restaurant and needed a hotel within easy distance of Yeovil. The hotel deserves it reputation. A very friendly reception and staff. We had a lovely room/suite with large balcony, four poster bed, overlooking their super garden. A nice touch was a coffee making machine, fresh fruit and local soft drinks in the room. We had an excellent dinner, preceded by a drink in their cosy bar. Oborne is situated in a superb and quiet part of lovely Dorset and is close to Sherborne with it's famous Abbey and school. Thoroughly recommended and we will be back.

Everything excellent, staff professional, courteous and welcoming. The hotel setting was great, very peaceful, we had a superior room with a balcony, weather was great so that helped. Not a massive hotel which we liked as it felt friendlier and cosy. I love the quirkiness of the Best Westerns as they are all unique, much nicer than the bland cheap chains

The hotel is absolutely charming with lovely staff. Really enjoyed the restaurant food. The deluxe room was spacious and romantic with 4 poster and veranda and garden views. The bar is well stocked too. Thoroughly recommend.

I did not know what to expect from a hotel in the middle of nowhere but what a surprise from the moment we entered the Hotel we received a warm welcome ,our luggage taken to our lovely spacious room ,comfortable bed and ensuit bathroom ,lovely comfortable lounge and bar ,excellent excellent restaurant and lovely well cooked food all locally surprise, all set in lovely gardens

Although we only stayed for one night, all the staff, right down (or up!) to the two managers treated us with great attention. The hotel is in a very quiet part of Dorset, close to Sherborne and, although it was raining on the morning of our departure, we could see that the grounds were very nicely laid out. The room was huge and the double bed (although a little too hard for me, personally), was king sized. The laid-out breakfast of the usual cereals, fruit juice etc was quite adequate, but the hotel will also prepare a full English breakfast at no extra cost for those wanting a rousing start for the day! Overall a very nice stay, fully recommended.

My companion and I had a very relaxing comfortable stay at The Grange. It is very welcoming, with delightful friendly staff. The meals were delicious, full marks to the chef. Our room was spacious and very clean, with an excellent selection of teas and coffees.

We were given this 2 night stay as a secret escape gift by friends. The place is great and cannot fault the hotel. The staff were very helpful from the moment we arrived and throughout our stay. We had dinner on the first night which was superb and the breakfast was very good.The room was very clean and everything worked. We were delighted with our stay and will return in the future for sure.

We have stayed at the Grange before but this was just an 'overnighter'. We had booked ahead and even selected our room so, check-in with Kirsty was a breeze. We freshened up and went, via the bar, to dinner. As usual there was a varied menu (plus a market menu) and the selection was excellent - as were the chosen meals. Well fed and happy, we retired and slept well. In the morning we rose refreshed, enjoyed a leisurely breakfast (courtesy of Teresa) and moved on. The Grange is a really good, welcoming hotel in tranquil surroundings we shall be visiting again. TIP - If you are navigating by satnav from the Sherborne / Salisbury road follow the hotel's own signs on your final approach. The satnav errs!

The Grange is set on the outskirts of Sherborne which is only a short car ride away from the town centre. A great hotel full of character. The greeting on arrival was very friendly and the room (no. 3) was well equipped and offered a great view of the gardens. The bed was extremely comfortable. I did not eat at the hotel as this was already organised for later in one of the towns restaurants. However, I did see the menu and it looked very appealing. Overall a very pleasant stay.

We had our Christmas party earlier this month at The Grange and they rose to the occasion admirably, considering that there were 145 of us – a record for them I believe. The dining room is beautifully laid out and we were served a fabulous three course meal, followed by dancing. The menu choices were inspired and they offered vegan and dairy free options. For the main course I chose the lamb, which was absolutely delicious and melt in the mouth. The service was efficient and so professional. Can't think of a nicer place to have a Christmas do! Well done to all of the team there, and thank you. We didn't stay the night, but other guests at the party did, and they said it was lovely there.

From start to finish, we couldn't fault a thing. STUNNING room, suberb staff, and excellent food. Kirsty is an asset to the establishment. There wasn't a thing that the owners hadn't thought of to make each guests stay personal, and perfect. We can't wait to return.

This ancient lovely family run hotel is tucked away in a tiny corner of rural Dorset where peace and comfort are everywhere and it is a perfect base for seeing the county of Dorset and much of Somerset. The two rooms we had were spacious, up two flights of stairs, and very comfortable. We had two evening meals in the hotel; the food was interestingly designed, very tasty, beautifully presented and well served. One of our party needed Gluten free diet which produced no problems to the preparation. The wine list was imaginative with a good selection and range of prices and the young staff efficiently competent and cheerful. Thank you, a lovely weekend.
