"Surprisingly nice"
Nice attempt at “industrial” style decor. Clean and modern - a great value. Some guests partying until 2am. Although they were conversing at a fairly normal volume, the walls are thinner than typical motels.
"Caring Staff"
The lady at the front desk went beyond and above. I had trouble purchasing a bottle of water in their vending machine and I went at the front desk to inform them. The lady at the front desk apologized and said she has an extra bottle of water and that I can take it with me. Keep up the good work!
"Home away from home"
The pool and hot tub are immaculate and actually usable pool is about 88 degrees (at least it feels like it) easy for kids to actually PLAY in. Beds are so comfortable, they are easy to work with (no crabby employees) overall a great homey feeling. The pictures displayed are exactly what you get. The RESTRAUNT is NOT open. a to go bag breakfast of your choice. Food city, Starbucks, gas station and others within walking distance.
"Perfectly renovated"
The private bathrooms were bigger then expected and I enjoyed the two T.V's in the double queen bedroom. The hot tub was a nice touch to a long day! Will definitely be staying here again and referring to family!
"The total package"
Great location, recently remodeled in a classic modern Style, luxurious pool area, welcoming desk staff. Seriously can't say enough good things. Breakfast is takeaway frozen egg sandwiches, juice, cup of fruit, several other typical breakfast items. Good virus precautions.
"Horrible experience with Staff"
This rating is based on experience with staff, not the hotel! Group of university students from out of town visiting Scottsdale for the weekend. An otherwise really enjoyable weekend at the Bixby ruined after 3 of us were racially profiled by the front desk clerk after they lost their key on the way back from a night out. 3 of the girls who were together realized they did not have their room key when their Uber arrived at the hotel before mine did. They tried to go to the lobby to wait for me and the front desk clerk initially allowed them in the building and let them sit down to wait for my Uber. Evidently, he believed they were waiting to leave and after 10 min he began to ask them questions and realized they were waiting on someone to arrive (which was me), and at this point, he started saying they needed to leave the hotel premises and even called security on them. He told them he felt "unsafe" and refused to believe they were staying at the hotel, forcing them to stand outside and off of the property at 4 am! He kept urging them to leave, though they could not because their keys were locked in the hotel room and that I (the person on the reservation) was literally minutes away in an Uber. When I arrived minutes after they were kicked out of the lobby to let them in the room, I asked the front desk clerk what happened. Firstly, he made it a point to let me know I was being recorded, which let me know that he felt intimidated by my presence despite me being 5'3 120lbs. He went on to try and tell me that "none of them were wearing masks so [he] felt unsafe." This was a lie because they had to wear a mask to be allowed in the building. I am deeply disappointed and frustrated with this experience that could have been handled much differently---without humiliating these young girls by berating them and forcing them to wait outside the hotel they had been staying at for the past two days. And all because he believed they were somehow not telling the truth or up to no good. Do better.
"weekend getaway"
We had some points to use and it was either this place or by the airport and I did not want to stay near the airport. It was 12,000 points used. We were both happy I chose this one. It is near the freeway. There are 3 floors with an elevator and stairs to use looking onto the pool area. There is a big veranda with covering outside the pool gates and inside the pool area they have table and chairs with umbrellas to keep you out of the sun, with little areas with curtains in between them and comfy looking furniture. The pool was very relaxing and is 3-6 feet deep, there is a hot tub( watch the last step, it is a big one). We had a king size bed( the frame was bigger than the mattress, so we kept walking into it) there is a desk with chair and a medium size frig with micro wave, closet and pantry space was good, 2 night stands and over the bed lighting( also reading lights, so you don't disturb your mate). The bathroom was a good size, there is 1 glass door that goes half way on the shower, there is 2 shower heads, a hand held one and a big shower head, you can use either, it took awhile to get hot water in the shower, but once there it was nice. Not enough towels for us though. Breakfast is from the restaurant next door, you get your choice of 1 drink and 2 breakfast items. The drinks are coffee, juice, hot cocoa and then the breakfast items are bagel, muffin, fruit, cold cereals, little mini breakfast sandwiches and oatmeal, you let them know what you want and they get it all ready so you can take it back to your room and either eat it inside or on their little fenced in patio(1st floor only), it has a small table and 2 chairs to sit on, it was nice to sit out here in the evening. There is a $100.00 deposit that is NOT mentioned on their web site. The a/c was real good. It was a nice get away
"Mr"
Nice place, staff was very helpful and friendly, grounds were clean and pool was enjoyable. Would defiantly recommend and also stay their again, if you are ever in Scottsdale give it a try. looking forward to a return trip soon.
"Worst staff i have ever experienced"
The staff where very rude i think because my wife and i are young and due to the trash that frequent there hotel they just assumed that we fell in that category cause we are not 50+ years old other then the staff i liked the rooms and pool areas
"Great hotel!"
My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel last week and will definitely be back. The location was ideally located for easy access to everything we were doing. The room was clean and nicely furnished. We also enjoyed the heated pool, hot tub and outdoor lounging area. Highly recommend!
"Great base for Spring Training"
We wanted a hotel in a good location with easy access from the airport due to late arrival and early departure, not far to Salt River Fields, with nearby restaurants and grocery stores. Hotel Bixby worked out great. Limited breakfast options at the breakfast bar, so we ate light some days, went out other days. Pool and hot tub were great.
"Has pros and cons"
We stayed the last week of February while we were in town for Spring Training. The room was quite small and rather dark. It was clean but there was a smell in the room that reminded me of dirty bedding or stale air. The bed was comfortable however the pillows were not. They should invest in a more standard hotel pillow and get rid of the cheap $4 Walmart pillows. We had our room cleaned every day but we inevitably got stuck with faded worn out pillow cases that had a yellowish tinge to it. Very off putting. We were on a bottom floor and heard the people above us morning and night. Stomping, walking, rolling things across the floor, dropping things. It was very loud and very annoying. You can also hear traffic from the road. The pool and hot tub were amazing. Very clean and very warm and refreshing. Our first night there I asked my husband if we could stay somewhere else. I initially thought it was a bit seedy but after meeting the other guests and seeing the type of clientele, I felt better about our stay. Over all, I would stay here again if they took care of some of the above mentioned issues.
"Great. Location"
Not sure why this motel is part of the signature collection, yes it is old, decorated with Ikea furniture along with squeaky floor and uncaring staff, the are better BW in town, look elsewhere ,noisy highway out front,
"Surprising Boutique Hotel, Scottsdale"
We booked the Bixby having no previous knowledge of the facility. Excellent. Our room was small but it was my error in booking. The outdoor pool facilities were better than most other hotels we've stayed at in the Phoenix area.....impressive!
"Pleasantly Suprised"
Arrived late afternoon after long ride from Northern Arizona TUBA CITY--able to decompose easily Room spacious well designed proximity to all our events Old Town, Botanical Gardens, Taliese West Plenty of food choices in area Pool and hot tub nice extra Fitness clean and enough machines for all muscle groups Only drawback restaurant for breakfast-we went elsewhere after first morning --- BUT did not go for breakfast hotel worth the cost and would DEFINITELY book again if in area
"Pleasant surprise"
We arrived not expecting much. We were pleasantly surprised to find this hotel had some nice amenities. The room was larger with a seating area, decent sized refrigerator, microwave oven, Keurig style coffee maker, up-to-date furnishings and comfy beds. The whole property looks like it had been recently refurbished. We enjoyed our stay. Very friendly staff.
"Read this one"
Room was expensive thin walls heard other rooms all night bed sucked doesn't describe the bed! Huge exposed pipes all over the ceiling not appealing. Parking was crap had to park on the opposite side of the hotel and carry everything
"Good value"
Hotel Bixby is an older hotel that has been nicely updated. Easy access to airport and shopping. Quiet with solid walls. Nice hot tub. One small drawback, the soap provided is of very poor quality. Bring your own bar of soap.
"Tough to dress up a pig"
The room was clean and there's a pool and hot tub in the center of the complex. Unfortunately, the walls are thin and we could here on all sides. The all white room looks outfitted with IKEA and it seemed to be a makeover of an old facility. Many other hotels are near by, probably offering breakfast and a nicer quality. if I was going to stay in this area again I would probably be willing to pay more for better accomodations
"Relaxing and Enjoyable Stay"
Great location! Staff and service in all areas was amazing. The site was very clean! You can tell the staff take pride in their jobs and the location. The area is relaxing and quiet. I would highly recommend.
"Beautiful rooms great area"
Great comfortable room ✔ Great area close to airport and downtown, lots of attractions in area ✔ Resturant connected to hotel with great food.✔ Beautiful sparkling swimming pool and lounge area ✔ Fitness center ✔
"nice facility"
the hotel was a very clean facility, with friendly staff, and was in a good location to major roads, the outdoor pool looked very clean, hotel was located in a nice quiet area, restaurants located nearby.
"Fully renovated rooms"
This hotel is now run under the Best Western brand, and the all the rooms are fully renovated. The hotel is about 1/4 the size that it used to be for those that remember it as the Hospitality Inn and Suites and no more kitchens. Each room has a decent sized fridge and a microwave, work desk, large wall mounted TV good sized bathrooms mine only had walk in shower-which suited my needs- with one fixed and one removable shower head, room had a good sized closet with ample hangers and containing 3-4 shelves...no dresser or drawers which didn't bother me, as well as a closet type piece in the bathroom. Ample room for storing luggage etc. I had a chair in the room, and the "office" type chair at the workdesk. I was on the 3rd floor and I would agree with an earlier review that it took several minutes for the hot water to kick in both shower and sink, but when it did kick in it was hot and plentiful. The king bed was comfortable and in my case 3 pillows of varying firmness, not sure if that is by design or luck. Smaller hot tub, which quite honestly wasn't very hot, and a decent sized pool, nice looking and functional sitting areas around the pool, and outside the pool area. Although the hotel was very quiet and I didn't see anyone sitting around the pool area. I didn't go into the restaurant (Jaxons) so can't comment on the breakfast, which is included in some rates. or you can opt out of the breakfast rate. It is also open for lunch and dinner apparently and my understanding is an independent operation simply located on hotel property. In-room safe, couple of lamps and recessed LED lights in room and bathroom....quite bright so I essentially used the lamps. The "secured" internet worked well although as mentioned the hotel was very quiet during my stay, so can't comment on speed if hotel is busy. Check-in and out was quick, I had a package delivered to the hotel and they gave it to me immediately at check in. Staff friendly. My room was exceptionally clean. Housekeeping staff were very good and responded to my requests w/o question. It is a basic but decent hotel, newly painted blue and white exterior. Main floor rooms had sitting area right outside the room, a couple of chairs and a table, which could be nice, 2nd and 3rd floor rooms have one window facing exterior walkway and pool area.
"Good bang for your buck"
This hotel has been renovated, is super clean, in a good area and very reasonably priced. I would recommend this place tell anyone. We will definitely be staying here in the future. It's a great bang for your buck!
"Nice and Convenient "
Stayed here for two nights while in Scottsdale. Located right on the main road into town. Pub style restaurant right next door. Nice pool and hot tub area - we used the tub in December. Rooms are large and clean. Very quiet and all rooms face the courtyard. Friendly staff and housekeeping does a good job. They are new to Best Western and were not sure about the Go Green Rewards so I'm still waiting for that - had to show it to them. Advertise laundry on the web page but there is none on site. No complimentary anything but would probably stay here again just because it was convenient to town.
"Quick trip to Scottsdale"
Really enjoyed this little jewel. Have past it many times, very glad to add it to my go to when in town. Hotel is in excellent condition, love the courtyard area and the way the rooms face the pool area. Bottom floors have cute little patio, perfect to sit out and enjoy that morning coffee. I travel with my own Keurig coffee maker, nice surprise to see they have them in the rooms. Meet Paul the owner, speaking with him you can see he cares very much about his hotel and it shows in the appearance of the lobby, courtyard and the rooms. This now my go to place to stay when I'm in Scottsdale.
"Some Good- Some Bad"
We stayed here a total of 5 nights and found the overall value decent. All rooms are located inside the courtyard with exterior entry ways. Had an elevator. Narrow corridors so when the cleaning staff have there carts, you cannot get by with your cart (example checking inn or out) Overall stay was okayt, It was quiet while we were there and rooms were big enough. Bed was comfy, had a bigger fridge and air conditioning worked perfectly. Cleaning staff was good although the first day we noticed a large 12 inch hair in our shower. Rooms were recently remodlled a couple years ago but this is a old facility. We were on the 3rd floor and hot water was an issue. Took about 3 minutes to get hot water to shower or turn the sink also on at the same time and get it in about 1 1/2 minutes. Hot tub was at best warm. Front Office Manager needs a personality and needs to show his guests that he can smile. Best part of stay was the bed and air conditioning as well it was quiet. They offered free breakfast next door at the restaurant Jaxon's to any person that booked through Best Western, however I don't think is going to last long.
"Excellent Value"
Stayed here 3 nights with my husband for a wedding in Mesa and due to close proximity to airport. This is not your run of the mill fancy hotel - more like a very nice, modern motel with hipster decor. Excellent value overall - clean, modern style rooms, nice pool, and good location. The hotel is connected to a restaurant/bar (husband went once for a drink), and there is also a fitness room (opted to hike nearby instead at South Mt. & Camelback). No complaints, highly recommend - would definitely stay here again!
"value based stopover."
Have stayed at this hotel prior to becoming a BW; when it was a Hospitality Inn. Rates were good; now is a Best western, has hot breakfast, fitness...Close to Old Town (about 5 minutes by car). Hot tub could have been warmer.
"The complimentary breakfast costs extra! What the heck does complimentary mean?!"
I stay with Best Western whenever possible because I like their breakfasts. This is kind of Best Western, so I gave them a chance. I didn't get a free breakfast because I did not pay extra for it! Stupid!
