    « Good room/good price »

Hit the breakfast early if you want something to eat. Picky coffee folks please leave your expectations at home because you'll be hard pressed for a decent brew. Coffee isn't brewed by batch it comes out of some industrial machine that's available 24/7.

« Aging Property in Serious Need of 'Repair / Update »

Neded to be in Schulenburg for one night; I apparently got the last room in this hotel and all other hotels in Schulenburg were sold out. The bathroom was in bad need of repair and update; bottom of tub was dark grey, almost black looked disgusting; Shower head was broken, only 3 streams of wanter coming out; toilet paper falling out of wall; overall the room just ok, the bathroom disgusting. Asked to be moved, but hotel was sold out, as was the Holiday Inn next door. On top of all, the hotel usually goes for less than $100 per night, but because all hotels in Schulenburg were full, price was $250. On my next trip (if there is one) I will choose the Holiday Inn Express next door, looks much newer.

    « Great night sleep ?? »

We request this hotel every year for the BPMS150 Bike Tour because they are clean, consistently refreshing & updating. Great night sleep, plenty of parking. They even set up grab & go items for us before 6 A.M.! I have a group of volunteers that overnight with us. Fantastic front desk staffers, always helpful & speedy checking us in. See you next year.

« Great Place to Stay »

Best Western in Schulenburg is our Go-To place for this area. We travel here frequently and always use this Hotel. Breakfast is good, rooms are clean and the service is excellent. We also love the atmosphere and friendly staff.

    « good value »

Stayed 2 nights here. Breakfast was good. James at the front desk was great. Had a minor issue with the room but James had the maintenance person up to resolve it very quickly. Good place if you just need a place to sleep. nothing fancy.

    « HOT shower! »

Wish the room had a garden tub to take advantage of the hot water supply! Nice, clean room. Nice breakfast. We appreciated the thoughtfulness of the night manager putting us on the third floor. He said he still had guest coming in and we would have a quieter stay. Since we had been on a very long road trip and were exhausted we were grateful for his consideration.

« Overall, it was a great room ? and we will be back next year! »

Our overnight room (#311) was a surprisingly delightful room with wonderful bright lighting, a very comfy bed, a large bathroom counter -- and everything was very clean! Minor complaints ? 1. The internet was slow. 2. The TV worked great and we wished there was a printed list of channels in the room. 3. We were in a quandary about the TV's volume vs the AC noise vs the temperature of the room. We found the room to be was hot ? and it wasn't just my hot flashes! When we turned on the AC, it was so loud that we couldn't hear the TV -- and we were afraid that increasing the volume would disturb our neighbors. Overall, it was a great room ? and we will be back next year!

« Nice Place To Stay In Schulenburg »

Nice, comfortable place to stay while in Schulenburg. Staff was friendly and efficient. Our room was clean, everything worked fine and the beds were comfortable enough. Good shower. The toilet paper and tissues could certainly stand to be better quality, but that's minor. Decent breakfast, good coffee. Will stay here again the next time we are in the area.

« Good Place to stay to see the Painted churches! »

    « girls weekend »

this hotel was clean, up dated, beds were comfy and all the employees we met were extra pleasant. Breakfast was great. eggs, sausage, bisquit & gravy, hot waffles. We ate at Lucy Tequilas Mexican Bar & Grill just a block south of the hotel. It is a place we would stop at again.

    5
« Nice place to stop on I-10 »

This place is a nice modern hotel. The room i was un was ckean and the bed was comfortable. I did have to change rooms at first because the heater/a.c. was making a loud noise. But other than that everything was great.

    4
« Traveling great night stopover »

We found this hotel comfortable, had a great night for stopover while traveling. Warm breakfast, clean and comfortable room, friendly staff and location was easy to get to. Several fast food and other restaurants nearby.

    « Road Trip Stop »

Great beds and excellent services. My Mom and I are on an epic road trip and we found that we had run out of steam. So we pulled into Potter Country Shop (amazing pecans! And so great treats - worth the stop). They were super nice and pointed us to the direction of the hotels so we picked the Best Western Plus. The Front Desk staff were super helpful and even upgraded us at no extra charge to two King Suites. We both got our own space to relax, comfy beds and had a good breakfast in the morning. Its a bit higher in the price range of places we stayed though it felt like it was worth it. Note: it's close to the interstate so you can hear traffic, you can also hear people in the hallway (honestly haven't been to a hotel yet where that wasn't the case) and you can also hear some very chirpy birds lol The hotel is also close to a gas station/connivence store, What a burger and I went to Lucy's Texmex, had the chicken tortilla soup and it was delicious! In all a great stop to rest for this Mother/Daughter traveling duo.

« Good base for the area »

Spent a couple of days in Central Texas and found that the Schulenburg Best Western was pretty convenient for exploring the area. It's easily accessible (on the southeast corner of the I-10 and US-77 intersection) and was a clean and restful place to overnight. Breakfast was provided in the morning -- the usual hotel fare and it was fine. There are a number of restaurants, both sit-down and fast food, in the area at that exit of I-10 and of course Schulenburg proper is only a half-mile further south on US-77.

    4
« Stopover before San Antonio »

Great hotel, very convenient and close to I -10. Very friendly and welcoming staff. We were upgraded to a bigger room. The room and bathroom were clean. The only problem was a burning smell coming from the heater.

    4
« Great stopping place on way to San Antonio »

Stayed one night on road trip through Texas. Good rooms, comfortable beds. Great staff. Really close to interstate and smokehouse restaurant which I would recommend eating at. This hotel provided everything needed for an overnight stop and is a lot better value than many such places on the road,

    5
    « Very nice!! »

Stayed here for a much needed overnight getaway. Spent the day visiting the Painted Churches and check in was very easy and clerk couldn't have been nicer. Room was a King and was very nice with lots of room for two. Requested extra towels and the clerk brought them promptly to the room. All staff were friendly and attentive. Will stay here again if in the area!!

    5
    « Great stay »

I really enjoy staying at the hotel when we are in the vicinity. Staff is always pleasant and the room is always clean, the bed comfortable and the bath towels are thick enough to dry you off. The breakfast is good and the price is right.

    3
    « Good location »

We were in Schoenberg to go see the Painted Churches and this place was a convenient place to stay but we were not pleased that we had to stay on the second floor and the breakfast was not very good. However we loved the tour of the churches.

  • 5
    « Excellent choice »

The staff was extremely professional and the facility was clean and I recommend to anyone who needs a great place to stay a night or a few days. Located close to several eating places that you can walk to and very easy on and off the interstate

    2
    « Stayed here over a month »

Great place to stay rooms are clean staff is very nice. Parking spaces could be a bit wider. It has everything you could ask for laundry, workout room and a hot breakfast the pool area looked nice but I didn't use it. Oh they have a bbq area and truck parking too.

    4
« Very pleasant stay at Schulenburg Texas »

My husband and I had a great stay at the Best Western Schulenburg, Texas. The staff were very accomadating, warm, and friendly. Elevator, rooms, hallways all clean and neat. The beds were very comfortable, and the AC cooled wonderfully. There was pllenty of hot water for a relaxing shower. Great people and a great small town.

    4
    « Good Hotel »

This hotel is off the 1-10 so you can get drone of traffic early evening if your room is at the front. Hot tube was out of order. The reception area was clean and a fast check inn. The room was clean with all amenities in it. I slept well so the bed must have been ok. The breakfast room was clean, but the breakfast was very basic. The hot food had been sat in the warmer most of the morning, it was not for me. Small choice of pastries and cakes, coffee on tap. Was it value for money? May have been a little over priced.

    3
    « an okay stay »

Hotel staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Breakfast was okay. Pool area was nice but the hottub did not work. Even had a picnic table area under a canopy. Overall an okay stay

« Beware of the Schulenberg Best Western »

This place is horrible, yeah it looks decent but the assistant manager is incompetent, does not value customer service. The front desk staff are the only people friendly, nice and competent. They try their hardest to make up for an incompetent management and house cleaning staff. I had to unclog my own toilet and my room was never serviced by house cleaning. The house cleaning staff were extremely slow and could not speak or understand English what so ever. They just made grunting noises to me and nodded their heads as if they understood. I'll never stay at this location again.

    5
    « great hotel »

traveling with dogs can be a nightmare, but BW's make it fun and affordable. They don't make you feel bad because you are traveling with pets and the free breakfast is such a great help.We have always enjoyed all of the Best Western's going and coming to California.

    4
« Hot tub green & unusable! Otherwise very nice property. »

The hot tub was disgusting! There was NO way I was going to get in! The pool was nice and clean but got chilly quickly since it was a bit windy and on "shady" side of building. Hot tub would have been nice. Close to painted churches--which were what we came to Schulenburg to see. Right next to interstate but noise was not a problem. Internet was on and off. Otherwise, very nice stay. Beds comfy and room clean.

    5
« Best Western has upped its game »

I have stayed at BW in 2 locations recently and i must say they have really upped their game. Beds and rooms are comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful! Breakfast was pretty good too. I'd stay here again.

    5
    « Best Western Schulenburg »

Clean and comfortable room that is reasonably priced. Excellent breakfast and accommodations. Staff is very courteous and attentive. Call the hotel first before booking through any online website, because they may be able to beat the price.

« So Rude We Couldn't Stop Laughing »

We picked Best Western because you know what you're going to get and this one was convenient. On the first day breakfast was crowded and the lady working there was not happy. In fact she was rude to people, told them where to sit and then a bit later made them move. The next day we were the only ones at breakfast so we thought she would be less harried - no. She looked surly and when we politely told her something had ran out she was rude. Management there are chain hotels up and down I10, this won't be on the top of our list.

    5
« Nice place to stay »

We stayed at the Best Western in Schulenburg while attending a wedding. The hotel was nice and rooms were clean. With all the activities going on concerning the wedding, we were tired when we got back to the hotel. We were glad that the hotel was quiet and we had no problem sleeping through the night. Breakfast was good and have to compliment the woman preparing breakfast items. Eggs not overcooked!

    4
« Perfect for weekend trip »

Was there for a wedding and many of the guests stayed here. They were accomodating to early check-in and trying to get us together. They have complimentary breakfast was ok for free breakfast. Bed was comfortable. A/C in room worked but the halls were hot. They must not air condition them.

    5
    « Very Nice! »

This was an outstanding little hotel. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. Extremely clean and comfortable. Breakfast had a large selection. Easy location to find and get around. The place was very quiet and cozy.

    3
    « Friends visiting Schulenberg »

Customer Service is top notch! Hotel exterior needs a paint job that is appealing to customers. Internet needs an upgrade for we were unable to use it. Thank You for serving the Fayette County Community. We fell in love with the area.

    5
« Great Stay at Best Western »

This is a very clean Hotel. The staff is pleasant and the stay is very relaxing. The room was clean and fresh. Very comfortable. This was an excellent place to stay and my wife and I will stay here again when in Schulenburg.

    4
« Excellent Night in Schulenburg »

Late night stop over enroute to Lake Travis. This hotel has rooms on par with much pricier chains and was a surprise find at perfect location. Very comfortable, immaculate, and friendly. The only disappointment was their towels, which is odd. The towels were small and coarse.

    5
    « Pleasant stay »

This was a great experience. Easy on and off of I-10. Fantastic bed and breakfast. Acknowledged by all staff. A very pleasant experience. I have stayed there twice and will return. I use this hotel for meeting family traveling between Houston and San Antonio.

    5
    « Well worth it »

This hotel staff are great nice & helpful. The hotel is very clean the beds are comfortable. Well worth the money for the service and accommodations. If you are ever in this area and need a place to stay this is the place. Will stay here again on our next trip.

    5
    « Everything we needed »

We went to Schulenberg for a wedding. We really only needed a place to get ready and a place to sleep. We also enjoyed some time by the pool. The free hot breakfast was a nice perk! The place was very clean. Our only complaint was that it needed a better sign where to turn in because you have to enter through the gas station before you get to the BW. We thought it was poorly marked.

« Stay at Best Western Schulenburg »

Our stay here was very nice. The hotel is located within walking distance of nice restaurants as well as shopping venues. Staff were friendly and most helpful. We also visited the Moravia Wine & Vineyards while we were there which we greatly enjoyed. Frank's Restaurant was awesome! I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan to go back in the near future!

    4
    « Nice »

Rooms were nice, large, and well furnished. Easy on off to interstate with a convinence station next door. Rates were reasonable and plenty of parking for those pulling a trailer. Will definitly stay here again.

    5
« Great service, great room, great price »

I was very pleased with the service we received -- our housekeeper went above and beyond. The eggs at breakfast were fluffy and delicious. Our room was very comfortable, and great quality, particularly for the price. The location was easy to find and park at. I was somewhat disappointed that the hot tub was not hot. But, overall, a great experience -- and we even got a 10% discount at the excellent restaurant next door because we were Best Western guests.

    4
    « Friendly staff, conveniently off I-10 »

Room standard in size and decor. Due to hotels proximity to I-10 I slept with earplugs even although our room was away from Interstate. Breakfast was standard hotel fare. Front desk staff attentive and friendly. Value. Hotel fitted our needs (a clean place to stay, Best Western brand standards, breakfast included). We were satisfied with our stay.

    4
« If you're going on the Painted Church tour-good location! »

We lucked off and hit a weekend that the Fiddlers Frolic was going on in Hallettsville and we went to all the Painted Churches in the area too! This hotel was the perfect location for both events plus good restaurants very close by ( Frank's, Oakridge Smokehouse, and The Kountry Bakery) This hotel was easy access to Hwy 77 and Int 10 and was VERY clean and comfortable. The beds were super comfy and it served a delicious breakfast! Would stay here again if needed. Our room also had a small refrig and a microwave that we took advantage of.

    5
    « Friendly hotel »

The hotel is located conveniently off of I10 and Highway 77. Parking was easy to navigate and well lit. The front desk staff was nice and answered all of our questions about local activities. Our room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast bar has lots from which to choose, hot and cold breakfast, and all that I tried was tasty. Good price for nice stay. There were three ladies in my group and we felt safe there. We plan to stay again and bring our ladies church group.

    5
    « Another great stay »

The hotel is lovely and kept so clean it looks brand new. The staff is great. We had a wonderful encounter with Jackie when my cell phone wouldn't work properly to book while on the road, but when we arrived, she had our room ready to go. We would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again if in the area. Very convenient to Interstate 10.

    5
    « Clean »

Nice clean hotel. The staff was nice and helpful. Was able to request and get a room on the first floor at the end of the hall with the outside entrance right there by our car. Had a good breakfast, clean eating area with fresh breakfast.

    2
    « Sausage Festival 4/2017 »

Thought it was over priced for a smelly room with crickets. Think they turn off the air conditioner when empty so it goes stuffy quickly. They might have shampooed the carpets and not let them dry properly. Breakfast was reheating frozen foods.

    4
« Great little place to stop... »

I was on my way from Houston to San Antonio and this was the midway point. I found the best deal online for this spot. The room was larger than I expected, clean, and the bed very comfy. The breakfast was delicious and overall a great deal for the price since I priced checked all the hotels in the area.......

  • 4
« Good choice for Round Top »

We stayed at this hotel while attending the antiques fair in Round Top, about a half hour from the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast provided decent, although they seemed to run short of items. We were given a room on the ground floor opposite the ice and vending machines, which are in the open hallway. I asked the desk clerk for a different room, but she said nothing was available, and we were too tired to pursue the matter. The first night was fine, but on the second we were awakened by an altercation between hotel staff regarding the ice machine--not appreciated. I would definitely stay here again, but only if guaranteed a room not in proximity to the ice and vending machines.

    2
« Room Was not Cleaned Prior to Check-in »

Breakfast items were being consumed faster than being replaced from the kitchen. We (and other guests) had to wait for eggs and biscuits. The hotel "lost the bubble" in booking the room and did not know that the previous guest had checked out and the two of us had checked in. Accordingly, the sheets were not changed, partially consumed food and drink items were left in the room, and items of clothing left on the floor. We checked in late and tired after a full day at the semi-annual Round Top Antique event (7:30PM), and knowing the hotel was 100% booked advised the clerk of the booking missteps upon check out. We argued for no charge but the clerk would only allow 50% discount.

    4
    « Trip across USA »

This is a good place to stop between San Antonio and Houston. Schulenberg is a quaint western town, with really nice folks. Main St. has a nice restaurant, Great pizza and burgers, plus a full bar. It's super easy on & off the Interstate 10.

    5
    « painted churches »

excellent, visit, enjoyed the tour of churches, stay at hotel was great, breakfast was excellent, no problems except key card got stuck in the lock was quickly fixed. Breakfast was served hot and very tasty. the room was nice and comfy.

    4
    « Not Quite a BW Plus »

I don't know how BW rate their hotels, but I would not class this one as a BW +. However it was clean, and comfortable. The manager was very polite and considerate at check-in. The complimentary breakfast was good. Did not use the Internet, so I can't make any comment. I would stay here again.

    3
« Terrible Odor in Third Floor Rooms »

Terrible odor on third floor and its rooms. It did not go away with the air conditioning. When we left, our clothes, luggage, and persons smelt of this odor. It smelled as if someone had cooked curry or some type of food on the floor or odor of people. It ruined the stay as it made you question just how clean was the room actually. Friends traveling with us who stayed in a room on the same floor experienced the same smell in their room. Upon arrival at hotel, the parking lot and the entrance to the hotel was littered with bird droppings everywhere, including the front porch entrance and the beginning of the lobby. You would have thought they would have power washed this away. If nothing else, at least keep the porch and front lobby clean of bird droppings.

    5
    « Nice surprise »

This was an excellent hotel, large super clean rooms, free breakfast, free parking, free fast internet, good staff, if I could move this hotel around from place to place I would stay in it every night.

    4
« When on I 10 and in the area, good hotel! »

Traveling west on I10 and I saw the signs for the hotel on the freeway. Best Westerns are a good branded hotel chain individually owned that I normally stay at when traveling. 3 story hotel with a good elevator, friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean in good repair and had all the necessities including in room coffee pot and coffee. Good, comfortable bed and I slept well Hot breakfast with plenty of hot and cold items, my one complain would be is that I like biscuits or toast and gravy and normally the gravy supplied by purveyors is thick and tasty but, here the gravy was thin and no flavor, thinned with water possibly!

    4
« Great stop on way to Round Top! »

We stayed here for one night on the way to Round Top for the antiques fair. Nice rooms, comfortable beds, clean. Great breakfast, even have individual packages of nutella! Ask for a room on the back of the hotel, so you are not on the highway side.

    3
« Roundtop Antiques and Tour of Painted Churches »

The room was clean and the hotel was well kept. Staff less than enthusiastic on check in and check out. Bed was comfortable. Needed better towels. Good location. We had breakfast at a restaurant so cannot comment on that.

  • 5
    « Nice room »

Very nice room. Comfortable bed, plenty of room to spread out. Very conveniently located right off the highway. I was pleasantly surprised at how many restaurant choices I had right by the hotel. Gas stations as well. The free hot breakfast in the morning was pretty good too. The Texas shaped waffles were a fun touch. I would highly recommend staying here!

    4
    « Half way there »

Schulenberg BW sits in the understood halfway point between San Antonio and Houston on I-10. A good jumping off point to go south to Victoria or north to the rolling hills around La Grange and antiquing in the Warren, Round Top, Carmine section of the state, and then on to Blue Bell's home of Brenham. This BW has always been a good place to stop and end the day with several local eateries close by from a long time family owned restaurant like Frank's to the popular fast food suppliers like McDonald's and Whataburger. A pool on the shady side of the building is a nice refreshing invite. Bath is very nicely appointed and linens are very thick, I like that in a hotel. Bed is really comfy with a fresh scent supplied to room that smells nice, large TV, Fridge, and microwave are in the rooms, suites have a foldout sofa that could keep two young'ns or an adult with plenty of room to move about. A fitness room that I did not use because the area around the hotel is a good location for walking, jogging etc. I usually walk to the city park a few blocks away and use the track there. Other than some days of the week when room prices get on the high side, this is a reasonable and very nice location to spend the night or maybe more if you are in the area for some activities. Stop in and enjoy the slow down of great little town, halfway there!

    4
    « Excellent Hotel but... »

the hotel was great but the breakfast was inadequate to the number of patrons. By 7:40 all warm items were gone, even though there were only 6 people, including me. There were no eggs, no bacon and one piece of sausage. The small kitchen had one person doing all the cooking on one small stove.

    5
« Great property and value. »

We planned a one-night trip to visit the Painted Churches and this hotel was a great Launchpad for that purpose. We took our dog and they were welcoming and pet friendly. Quiet, clean room. We were on the first floor near the pool so we had easy access in and out with the dog. Friendly personnel - front desk, cleaning crew, and the breakfast hostess. I would definitely recommend this property.

    2
    « Overpriced & Not Clean »

Furniture was soiled/stained, bed sheets were soiled, could not locate a constant fan cycle on A/C so it cut on and off all night - waking the wife up. Not a good nights sleep. Overpriced for the quality of the room compared to numerous other places we stayed and cleanliness was unacceptable; however, we did not report because tired hubby did not want to change rooms after the long day of driving. Staff were very friendly, efficient, and helpful. Would not recommend staying here if other choices are available.

    4
« Best Western, Schulenburg, Texas »

Hotel was very clean, including our room and bathroom. As of August 2016, hotel appeared to be recently constructed/new building with fresh/new paint, no major wear and tear. Also several restaurants in the near vicinity as well as a convenience store with gasoline pumps. Noted a police cruiser in the area on day of arrival, so felt very safe. Ask for room on the south side of the building, which is the away side from the I-10 Interstate.

    5
    « Great stay!! »

Wonderful stop! Great breakfast, but no newspaper. Really like to read and eat. Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet room with room darkening curtains. Close to on and off ramp of expressway. Outdoor pool too! If ever in the area again, will stay here.

    5
« Very Nice Hotel and CLEANNNNNNNN »

From the time that I walked in the lobby, I was impressed by how nice and clean everything was. The people were extremely friendly and helpful. The beds were nice and the breakfast was much better than a regular "budget" hotel. There was bacon, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, as well as all of the normal things you would expect. On the way to breakfast, I got a look inside of the maid's closet and work spaces and they were all spotless and completely organized, even though it was prime working time for the cleaning staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

    5
    « Nice place »

Great stay! People were very friendly and the hotel was in great condition. The pool and spa were in great shape. There is parking available for 18 wheelers, too. The room was large, very clean and smelled great! There are a few restaurants in walking distance and even a truckstop near by for fuel.

Very nice hotel price was very good, we went to Splashway that day and stayed that night. Less than 20 minute drive and we couldnt have been more pleased. Beds were so comfortable we didnt want to leave.Rooms were very clean, lots of hot water, and tv selection was wonderful as well. Kids were entertained by Wifi and they didnt have a problem. I just love BW Plus and this was my first choice.

    « It was fine. »

Room was comfortable and clean. The elevator smelled like they had just sprayed bug spray, but aside from that, it was easy to get to, easy to park, easy to check in and everything worked as expected.

Our stay was Excellent this time as it was the last time we stayed at this hotel and that is why we chose it for this trip. We arrived very late and the room was ready. The breakfast was available when we needed it. Wish they would have had Cranberry Juice as one the choices for juice. Gary

« Excellent hotel for seeing the Texas Painted Churches »

We enjoyed our stay at the Schulenburg Best Western. It is well-located for touring the Painted Churches in the area. The rooms are comfortable and clean. There is good value for the cost, and the full breakfast is outstanding. The people were friendly and responsive. We also enjoyed the pool in the hot afternoon. It is also in walking distance from several excellent restaurants, including Ina's, a block away, where we enjoyed the best luncheon salad ever! Overall, a completely enjoyable stay.

    « Noisy »

Stayed 1 night passing thru from Texas to Florida. Easy access. Disappointed due to separate lodging buildings. Found room on first floor to have extremely load traffic noise in bldg B. Air conditioner cut on and off which kept waking us up and then had to listen to traffic noise. Rooms were OK, but toilet flushing was loud sounding like it would suck you in. Bed comfortable, breakfast very good. Would not stay again.

« Nice Staff - Clean Hotel - Best Western gets a Plus from me :) »

Found myself in the middle of nowhere and exhausted on a long trip. Thank god for the Best Western Plus in Schulenburg. It was late and the person at the front desk was very happy to accommodate us. Even upgraded our room for no extra charge, which was really appreciated. The coffee in the morning was great. I highly recommend.

I love this hotel and I have stayed here several times. This last time, I spent 6 days here. I am very happy with this hotel and will continue staying here when i come to the area. The pool and hot tub are great, they are never crowded. The breakfast is good. I am very happy with this hotel and the rooms we get every time. Staff is super helpful and nice also. My bed was comfortable which is good because of how long we stayed this time.

    « Stop over »

On our way through Texas and stopped here. Nice comfortable and clean place for a pretty good price in the area. Breakfast was not bad either, I would stay here again. Had plenty of other things to use but I had no need for just over night. Free wifi.

    « Good stopover »

Spent one night on our way to Big Bend. Rooms were a good size and clean. Breakfast was fine and definitely enough food. Think there were scrambled eggs and the usual breakfast fare. Staff were pleasant. There's a good Mexican restaurant within a ten minute walk that has a local flair and good food!

« Better than your average Best Western »

As a HOG member, Best Western is always our first choice, and this one did not disappoint. The motel seems fairly new. The room was plenty large, well appointed (coffee, m/w, fridge, 42" TV, couch) and CLEAN. The free breakfast was good, Texas shape waffles eggs bacon etc. I do have two issues... they don't have basic cable on the TV, so no weather channel, sports center, etc. And they have really bad instant coffee in the lobby. But, you can get fresh brewed coffee at the gas station next door. I would still recomend you to stay here. Schulenburg is a great spot to use as home base for the Painted Churches tour.

    « I expected too much »

We used the room to change before a 3:00 wedding. We intended to spend the night but found that we had to return home at 7:00 pm we used one towel and two pillow cases. I had hope that our hosts would offer us a discount as they could easily sell it again for the night with very little touch up. They just looked at us without offering anything. No, I did not ask..... I didn't want to seem rude. I could have given the room to teenagers who were at the wedding, but that would have required through cleaning afterward. I just thought they would use good manners and offer.... but I expected Southern hospitality. Yes, I am in the wrong for expecting that.

    « Exceeded Expectations »

This was the perfect location for a trip to The Painted Churches. The hotel was very nice, room was well appointed, and breakfast was much better than expected. The staff was excellent - helping us with arrival planning during excessive flooding north of the city.

    « Too expensive »

This Best Western was an average motel that was too expensive. $200.00 a night was too much, their breakfast needs improvement. There was not enough food for the guests and we were at breakfast at 8:00. The room was nice, couldn't keep the bathroom door open.

    « Filthy rooms »

This hotel has filthy rooms. Lobby seemed okay but in the room there was "blood" on the top bed cover and the towels were gross. Make up stains and no telling what else were on the towels. I would NEVER stay here ever again!!

    « Perfect as always »

I always stay at this hotel for the twice annual Round Top antique show. It is a GREAT value for the money. As a solo female traveler I feel that it is a safe location with spacious quiet rooms. I love the comfy beds and stock the fridge with my snacks.

    « Good for area »

This is a nice place. Very clean and attractive with decent ( by local standards) restaurants near by. We were upgraded to a suite without having to ask. The service was excellent, the breakfast was average, and the bed was really comfortable.

    « Excellent stay! »

Hotel was very clean and nice! I was pleasantly surprised! My only complaint is that the beds are uncomfortable. Maybe upgrade mattresses just slightly with a topper or something? Otherwise great place to stay when in the area!

« Traveling Back with my children from the Houston Livestock show. »

Very Nice Stay. I never give five dots. The evening clerk Maria was very nice and helpful. I was pleased and price was right. It was very quite. They have an outside pool which even in Texas can probably only be used from May to Sept. Also the room had no USB plugs. The breakfast was good. It has a hot tub. The hot tub is hot but you have to turn it on first to allow it to heat up. Once it heated it was really nice. It is right off of I-10. You have to turn into the gas station entrance to get in the parking lot or drive down the access road to the end of the parking lot.

« An angel from heaven »

On the night of March 3rd me and my mom headed out from Huntsville on our way to San Antonio, about a 4 hour drive. My mom flew in to visit me and so I wanted her to see the beautiful city of San Antonio and to give her a nice weekend. Close to 11 pm, however, we were involved in a car accident. We both were unharmed, but my car was smashed up bad and was unfit to drive, I had no earthly idea where I was, it was pitch black, and I was trying to calm my mom down from her nervous breakdown. Some time later, a tow truck came and dropped us off at the nearest in, which happened to be this one. The man at the front office asked us what happened, very nicely booked us a room at the cheapest price he could and softly talked with my mom to try to calm her down. I then proceeded to ask him if there was a place anywhere close by where I could rent a car. He said there wasn't one, that this was a very small town. My head started spinning and a million thoughts raced through: I have been driving for over 3 hours, how am I going to get home? I'm going to go broke if I have to pay a taxi to get me home or to the nearest rental place. What is going to happen to my car? Will I be stuck in this town? Mom, calm down, I'll take care of this. Will I really be able to? The man must've seen my worried face and said that he was heading to San Marcos the next morning at 10 am; that there was an Enterprise Rent-A-Car there and that me and my mom could hitch a ride with him if we'd like. I was speechless! Of course we both accepted! That night I couldn't sleep and kept making some calls to my auto insurance company to see what the steps were to be able to rent a car. I found out a couple of hours later that the Enterprise in San Marcos had cars in their lot that were too pricey and my insurance wouldn't cover it. The closest Enterprise that had cars which my insurance would cover was in Seguin, about half an hour south of San Marcos. I was a bit disappointed but thought that a taxi fare of about 30 minutes would be better than one from Schulenburg. So, 10 am rolled around and me and my mom headed out with the man from the front counter. I shyly asked him if he wouldn't mind making a quick stop at the shop where my car was (it was about 5 minutes from the hotel). Everything had happened so quick and unexpectedly the night before, I had left some important things in the car that I could not just leave there. He said it was no problem at all. He then asked us if we had a plan for when we got to San Marcos and I told him about the whole Seguin thing. He said there was no need for us to call a taxi because he would take us to Seguin! My eyes began to water. I could not believe what was happening! This man was willing to go about half an hour out of his way to help 2 strangers he just met a couple of hours before! We finally arrived to the Enterprise in Seguin. Me and my mom thanked him profusely for such an amazing act of kindness in our time of despair. I couldn't just let him leave like that after driving us for a little over an hour, so I began taking out my wallet to give him money for the gas. He refused and said that all he needed from us was our blessing. I was once again speechless. My mom hugged him and when he left, she sat down and cried because of this man's unbelievable kindness. The man's name is Denny and only during the morning drive did we learn that he was the owner of this and 2 other Best Western Hotels. But to me and my mom he will always be an angel from heaven; an angel who went above and beyond to help 2 complete strangers who had no idea where in TX they were standing. THANK YOU, Denny!!

    « Very nice stay. »

My boyfriend and I just needed to get away from everything at home and work for the weekend. We stayed one night and were very pleased the the accommodations. I am a state employee so we had a great price. Breakfast was good. They scrambled fresh eggs. The room was very clean and very nice. Even had a really nice rocker/recliner in the room which made it nice for when we wanted to watch tv that night. Between the recliner and the comfortable office chair, we didn't have to mess up the bed before going to bed. And the bed was very comfortable. Our only complaint, is that about the only shows they have on direct tv are the infomercials or cooking. A very few movies you could pay for. Other than that, it was a great stay. We would use them again.

    « Nice Comfortable Stay »

The fastest check I have ever had at a hotel! We stayed in the Jacuzzi room - room was big and clean with a comfortable king bed, plenty of pillows, 2 person jacuzzi, a rocker recliner, with fridge and microwave. Breakfast was on the bland side with eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy and cold cereals.

« Takes care of all your needs »

Maria was extremely helpful from the moment I called to make reservations of 16 rooms (traveled with girls/boys soccer team), to the moment we checked out. I also asked if she knew of a restaurant that could accommodate 50 high school students. She contacted the restaurant owner herself, explained the situation and gave the restaurant my information. I have never had this experience before and it saved me so much time. As the Director of HR at our school, she is a model example of true customer service and going above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable.

    « horrible »

If I could give it NO STARS I would. It's not that the hotel was bad - as far as a Best Western goes, it was average. It was the staff that was far below par. I made a reservation on line and checked in about 6:00 PM. All was going well. My wife and I watched TV then after the news we went to bed. We had a long day and were very tired. I went to sleep immediately - a deep sleep, until about 1:00 AM I was awakened by a furious pounding on the door. Someone had opened the door as far as the safety latch would allow and was screaming to get in. I approached the door and using ample expletives asked what the hell was going on. He said the desk gave him this room. He apologized and left. Had he managed to force the door all the way open he may have been shot. What the hell was he thinking. Shortly after, the desk called my room and asked my name. I told her and she said I was supposed to be in another room and suggested that I might be moved. I released a few more expletives that translated into something like HELL NO. I was I the room I was given when I checked in and had no intention of moving in the middle of the night. I was so keyed up after that I could not go back to sleep for hours.I finally did but it was nearly time to get up. We cancelled our plans for the rest of the day because we both felt like hell and just decided to go home. Bottom line I will never stay in a Best Western ever again. Would I recommend it to others - absolutely not. All I can say is thank God this did not end in a real tragedy. And a note to the guy who was was trying so hard to force the door open - think long and hard before you pull that stunt again

Room was hot when I arrived (80 deg December day). A/C unit sounds like it has belt problem; noise woke me up every time it came on. Toilet wouldn't flush. WiFi connected, but did not work. Ice machine located across from room; another noise issue. I won't be staying here again.

very nice and comfortable, staff was very nice and helpful. only gripe that breakfast there was not enough bacon and eggs when we were there at 8:30 and closing time was 9:00. Overall it was a restful night because we had bad weather in Houston and that's the main reason we had to stayed an extra night.

Arrayed at the hotel just one night while on a cross country road trip. Was a nice, clean and comfortable stay. Second BW Plus hotel on the trip and worth the little extra for the larger room. Would stay again if traveling thru Texas on I-10.

    « Painted Churches tour »

We spend a few days touring some of the "Painted Churches of Texas". This is a good central location to visit some of these churches. We saw a nice article in the Ride Texas magazine with pictures, locations and some of the history. We thoroughly enjoy this motel. Nice people, clean, and big comfortable rooms with very nice beds! What more could you want?

We stay here all the time, and have never had an issue. The entire staff treats us like family. The entire place is always clean, warm, and welcoming. The only time we ever stay elsewhere when coming to Schulenburg is when the Best Western is booked up.

We spent two nights and were very pleased. The rooms were very nice and clean, not to mention that the beds were very comfortable. I am not a breakfast person, but my wife is and she was a little disappointed in the breakfast.(hence the four star rating). All in all this was a great stay and we would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is a great stay. Comfortable and clean. The only complaint is the ice maker. It was right outside our door and the breakfast people would get ice around 5am which makes a lot of noise. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and they even provided Fiber bars for our long days of shopping.

« Great staff.. Nice and quiet..... »

I've been spending about 5 to 10 days a month here on business. The breakfast is hot with eggs and bacon or sausage. They hotel is very clean, and the staff is grand. I noticed the hot tub was drained the other day when I was really wanting to relax after work. The next day I asked if the hot tub was still broken upon my return from the office. He said he would look into it and call my room later. About an hour later he said the hot tub would be ready at 7 pm!!! Perfect after a long day... I'm heading back tomorrow for another 3 or 4 day visit for business.
