This is our third visit. Great location across from the train. Bus location is right across the street. Service has always been good. Baggage drop is available which is helpful with 3pm Checkin. Room was nice and had a mini frig. Finally the bath room is large with a good size shower with hot water.
Difficult to park car to unload. Far too busy with traffic, buses ,trams and main railway station on other side of the road. Hotel very welcoming, reception staff excellent and helpful. Had a very good room. Slept well and breakfast very good choices. Only problem for me was the awkward distance to their car park. Lots of steps and almost impossible with luggage
The hotel overall was okay. Great Location - right at the train station, a lot of restaurants in the area. No Restaurant in Hotel. TV applications were blocked so couldn't add any of personal streaming services.
I used to come here at least five times a year on business. Prior to staying at this hotel I stayed at other hotels in Schaffhausen that could not hold a candle to the Hotel Bahnhof. This is my first time back since COVID and being retired. All the people working at the hotel were the same and remembered me. I received a very nice room upgrade to the top view with a glorious view of the Munot! This was unexpected and so appreciated. The room and hotel in general was very clean and perfectly maintained. This is by far the best located hotel in Schaffhausen, across the street from the train station and all the local transportation. A block away is the old town for pleasant walks and a host of wonderful restaurants. Breakfast was in a nice room; varied, plentiful and delicious, just like I remembered it from years ago. Service was perfect; but over and above perfection it felt genuine, in that everyone really means it!
Very convenient location. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not luxurious but extremely nicely presented and the food selection was very carefully thought out. The guest room and furniture are dated and in need of some modernisation through renovation, but the rooms are clean and tidy. I will stay here again for sure!
What a great way to spend time with your daughter. Our trip took us through 4 countries in 7 days. The second stop was the Hotel Bahnhof. What a delightful Hotel. It coupled old-world architecture with a clean modern brightly lit interior. We found the beds to be very comfortable, the breakfast was one of the best I have had and the desk clerk was very friendly.
Literally across the street from the train station which is great for weary travellers who don't want to waste time locating their hotel. Walking distance to the Rhybadi where one can swim in the Rhine. Great breakfast offering both Swiss and North American breakfast options. Old town's edge is one street away. Helpful staff. The apples, water and chocolate in the room on arrival is just right for peckish travellers tired of airplane food. Mini-grocery store in the train station across the street was handy for when we needed food, but did not want a restaurant meal. Being able to leave bags with the front desk after checkout but before an afternoon train gave us the chance to explore some more, but without having to drag suitcases around. Have stayed here before - will stay here again.
a lovely hotel very close to the center and even if it is across the street from the train station you can sleep without any problem. Breakfast very rich and tasty. The hotel staff is very friendly and ready to help you if you need it
Good stay, excellent spacious room, lovely & charming staff. Good for going around, everything is at convenient distance. The rooms are good size well kept. The only disadvantage is that it does not have its own parking.
We were a family of 10 staying for 10 nights in Schaffhausen from the US. Accommodations, staff, location, and breakfast were all wonderful. Highly recommend this hotel. Located right in the heart of Schaffhausen across from the train station and next to wonderful shops and restaurants.
Excellent location very close to train station. Clean spacious with very friendly staff This was the first time I had stayed as I normally stay at another business hotel but this had more of a personal touch especially for a single female traveller. Felt very safe
The stay at the hotel was really excellent. The Staff is very friendly and courteous. They helped in all ways whether knowing the way for any site seeing or choosing transport to go to a place. The location of the hotel is also excellent. the breakfast spread is very good.
I always feel very welcomed in this hotel, and the service is second to none. The rooms may feel a little dated, but are very well equipped, spacious, with an ironing board, and a well stocked mini bar. There is a very nice gym on the top floor which has a very good range of equipment, and the breakfast is very good. I would not hesitate to book this hotel on a stay to Schaffhausen again.
Strategic location with near public facility, such as public transportation, shopping and food. The room is okay, clean, ok with room temperature, soundproof. I strongly recommend this hotel meanwhile I also recommend to provide natural water each room every day for the guest in order to the best service.
Excellent Place close to city center. Public and private parking available. Perfect Location. Nice Breakfast. Kind team. Clean facility. Bar with free coffee. Self service bar and snacks. Jim service. Small rooms
The check-in staff upon arrival was great. Kind of confusing parking situation, didn't know I could drive down the bus/taxi street and park in front of the hotel for check-in. Was kind of stressful, however we figured it out :-).
I have not been to Schaffhausen for more than three years due to pandemic in my residence country - therefore, I was very pleased that the high level of quality and services that I had experienced in the past is still in place - incl. but not limited to cleanliness, friendliness, professionalism and passion is still in place - will be back for sure by end of November.
Easy to access from the railway station and close to the old city is the hotel. The room was really big and comfortable and I wish I had stayed longer. For tourist the waterfalls at Rheinhausen are just a quick 2 stops on the loacl train and well worht a visit. I did think what a quiet and lovely town this was and was impressed by the hotel as well.
A very good hotel. Very clean and spacious. Near to shopping area and food. The train station is just across the hotel. Bus trams is just outside as well. There is a gaming shop near to the hotel as well. Nice scenery and architecture.
I just spent a night in this hotel for professional reasons, I found that from the reception to Checkout a very great professionalism, the staff is really at your service. the rooms are very spacious and comfortable, the bedding is of really very good quality, with a very nice minibar. the breakfast room is really very pleasant, the buffet is very varied and of very good quality. the breakfast lady was really very professional and very active in renewing this one. mr billeau
Absolutely the Hotel to be, when you are in Schaffhausen! Near by the train station, very friendly and helpful staff and nice clean rooms. The breakfast variety is enormous and good, something for everyone.
This was a business trip and the staff made me feel really welcome. The room was a nice size and very clean. It was difficult to connect to the network straight way. But I would recommend the hotel stay
Stay at this Hotel for a great stay, great service and close to the train station. Rooms are very nice and clean. Didn't have the time to visit the gym. Close to city center where restaurants are located.
Absolutely wonderful and welcoming staff all the formalities are hassle free, the rooms are spacious, organized and well maintained had a lovely stay and also the breakfast is amazing with lots of delicious options to choose from.
Excellent breakfast wirh great selection of fresh bread, cheese, juice, scrambled eggs, saucage, fruit and much more. Perfect central location just across Railway station. Helpful service. Beautiful old city, most interesting: visit Rhinefall!
The staff were very friendly and it had a great breakfast! Right in the middle of town perfect for exploring. Rhine falls was a nice walk down the river. The fort in town was easy to get to and very cool.
Very convenient, quiet and comfortable with air conditioning. The room was very clean room and the staff were all very friendly. The breakfast buffet offered an incredible selection of, basically, everything. Free coffee, tea and mini-chocolate bars were available all day. Plus a free ice cream during the heat wave was extra special. Will definitely stay again.
Very helpful hotel reception staff. Nice breakfast. Very quiet room, although located by the railway, the room was very quiet. Super good location! Room had "fresh look" . If You visit Schaffhausen, I recommend this hotel.
The hotel offers all one needs and more for a good stay. It is clean, rooms are equipped with sufficient toiletries and other amenities. The staff was really friendly and polite and all the COVID measures were attentively observed. This is a perfect choice for a business trip, very centrally located. On the minus side, it was a bit loud and could not rest very well because of this.
Look no further for the best hotel, staff, and service while visiting Schaffhausen. Staff goes above and beyond on ensuring your needs are met. Location is great as you're directly across from the bahnhof and minutes away from Altstadt. 10/10 and have been staying here for 15 years for business and pleasure.
Great staff and service. One of the most dedicated and supportive team I ever seen. Especially during these difficult times of pandemic, we got all the help necessary to settle down and have a smooth stay. Defenetly recomend it.
In the centre of Schaffhausen, although it can be hard to find with navigation because the street is closed for cars. Good breakfast, friendly staff and clean room. no parking available so you need public parking.
Stayed at hotel for two nights on business. The hotel is in a great location for train station and has a well equipped fitness room. Breakfast was also ok. The positives end there. The room I was in was next to the lift, and also at right angle to a corridor window which had a light on all night. The curtains were not sufficient to keep out the light. I was also woken up very early by lift banging. The worst point was the bed. Not sure if the mattress was old, worn out or meant to be like it is. It was like sleeping on concrete. I have a hard orthopaedic mattress at home, it's like sleeping on a bed of cotton wool compared to the mattress in this room. Poor nights sleep. Would try other hotels in area if I need to return.
breakfast was fine, the room was fine as well, but i would expect more for 4* hotel. It looks like it was 3* hotel re-constructed to 4*. there are some stuff typical for 4* but it looked like 3*. But for this price it was ok, i would not pay more
Great place to stay, literally over the road from the station and bus stops to most areas just outside the hotel. Good restaurants in easy walking distance. Staff were genuinely welcoming and friendly and the room was clean and well maintained. Good breakfast.
Lovely room, clean bathroom, great place in the middle of the city. The breakfast is first class, from the delicious bread to the Swiss cheeses and smoked salmon, the food was great. Location can't be beat, would stay here again. Not far from the Munot and just a train ride away from the waterfalls.
This place is right across the street from the train station--how easy is that?! Check-in was seamless. Our receptionist gave us free ice cream vouchers to be redeemed during our stay! Our room was great---had a seating area and stairs down to the bathroom. Bathroom was large and shower was great and clean. Always hot water. Bathroom had two windows which was great. Bed was comfy and pillows and linen were comfortable. Quiet. Breakfast was delicious and the coffee was good. This hotel is good in terms of location---the falls were about 1.5 miles away--an easy walk or a bus/train trip. Would stay again!!
Could've been 5 stars had they offered us a choice of bathroom designs, climbing into the tub for a shower was like mounting a motorcycle and the toilet was in a cubby smaller than my 5th wheel while the bathroom is HUGE! Awesome rooms great old town shopping street views with water fountains. Awesome breakfast buffets incl. choose this hotel but ask about the bath choices!! You won't be disappointed!
This is a lovely clean hotel, however is a bit dated. The staff are very friendly and rooms extremely spacious and comfortable. It is literally opposite the train station and about 30 minutes walks from the falls which are outstanding. Breakfast was good and I would definitely stay here again.
We were traveling in a region of Switzerland that I am unfamiliar with having spent most of my childhood in the Geneva canton or “southern” areas of the country. On our way to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, we found this lovely place to stay for the night. Clean and efficient with one of the nicer breakfast buffets we encountered, which is included with the room rate. Super friendly staff that is helpful and gracious. A big danke and thumbs up to this hotel.
Bahnhof means Train Station and the hotel is right across from Schaffhausen's main station. And, no, you can't hear or feel the trains, day or night. We have relatives over there and we stayed last year. It is simply a peaceful, friendly place. Check-in and check-out is quick, the staff friendly and helpful. When we did not have the right electrical adapter (and could not find one in stores), they let us borrow one from an assortment that could satisfy outlets from Africa to Iceland. The beds, shower, rooms are the right size and clean, there is a save and all necessary amenities. Breakfast is ample, buffet style and typically European with the fruit, muesli, yogurt, cold cuts, cheeses, warm items, like scrambled eggs, etc., and, of course, those yummy, crusty breads. One of the best features of the hotel is it's location. Aside from the train station with trains to Zurich(and an underground station inside Zurich's Airport), there is also the main Bus terminal with buses in all directions. We walked to the famous Rheinfall (about 1 1/2 hours), but you could take a bus or even the train to Neuhausen and walk down from there. Just in back of the hotel is Old Town (car-free), with its cobblestone streets, medieval houses, restaurants with out-door seating, shops and a Saturday morning Farmers Market. You want a charming, characterful, picturesque town, look no further. The hotel fits in well. Lastly, we had made reservations months in advance and when our plans changed the hotel managed to fit in an extra day (during peak season). Thank you Ms. Pfaff. We will visit again next year and we'll stay again at the Bahnhof.
This hotel was just perfect. Literally opposite the train station, but you wouldn't know it as it is super peaceful once inside. Don't be fooled by the plain facade, once through the doors you experience the full range of Swiss efficiency and excellent facilities of the hotel. We stayed for 5 nights and couldn't find a fault in anything. Our bedroom was very spacious, we even had a walk-in wardrobe! Well-appointed with everything from a Nespresso coffee machine to iron and ironing board, and heaps of TV channels including 6 UK ones; our twin beds were super comfortable, though pillows were on the soft side - tried the ‘pillow menu' and ordered the millet filled ones which were delivered to the room in minutes. Love the huge bathroom with sweet smelling herbal toiletries, generous hot water at all times, dressing gowns and slippers provided, towels were quite huge and thick (I brought my own sports quick drying one). Very pleasant room temperature with reliable airconditioner was a godsend during the heatwave. And the breakfast is superb - really, best breakfast buffet ever! Great range of warm and cold options (the bacon is amazingly good - we went back for 2nds every day), the bread range was fantastic, so fresh (loved the multigrain loaves), the soft-boiled eggs perfectly done - soft and creamy, yumm! Excellent coffee which you make yourself from a coffee machine (I like my double espresso) and many healthy options like bircher muesli, large range of yoghurt flavours, fresh fruit juice etc. The friendly staff kept the selection topped up quickly). A special mention goes to the fitness facility on the 5th floor, it is one of the nicer ones I've seen in many European hotels, well-cared for, it had a good range of equipment: one each of treadmill, stationary bike, recliner bike, crossfit, weights - all new and hardly used ha ha if only guests knew of the fantastic view of the Munot fortress from the treadmill!). Best of all is the location, it is so easy to hop on a bus or train to visit nearby sites like the Rhinefalls and even Zurich! No need to trudge distances to the station, you literally just cross the street. Lots of dining options in the Old Town which is just around the corner from the hotel (best route is turn left as you get out, walk a few meters past the post office then left again and old glorious Schaffhausen town is right there at your leisure). We really like this hotel, best value hotel ever, we'd happily stay here again next time we are in the area.
We have booked a room for 2 adults with 1 kid. The hotel has very friendly staffs and also the hotel offered 3 ice creams (many different varieties) to all of us. Inside the room has 3 bottles of water, 3 apples, and 3 bags of m&m!!! This is a super sweet treat for our kid. The room has a good space with clean and comfort beds. Also we have air-conditioner in our room as well. This is very important for summer and it made us had a good and deep sleep. Breakfast has so many choices and the hotel offers much much much more than our expectation compared to the hotel size and just in front of the train station. This is a great spot, if you to travel by train. But if you have a car, parking area is very close to the hotel. It is just 2-3 minutes walk. We will definitely come back and we are already give 5 stars to this hotel from all of us. Great service, support, and great frindly staffs.
Great location, across the street from the bus station, in the old town with lots of shopping and restaurant options, clean, comfortable bed, lots of food options on breakfast buffet, friendly staff and easy to find.
I went with my family to Rhinefall for sightseeing. It is a good choice to stay at Best Western Plus Schaffhausen Hotel, which is just next to the train station. I booked a triple room, which is clean with free wi-fi available. We got welcoming three bottles of water and packs of chocolates, apples on the plates with nice setting. That makes me so warm. Immediate access to the town is the highlight with shops and restaurants nearby. It only takes about 15 minutes walk to the Rhine River. To travel to Rhinefall, you just need to take less than 15 minutes by train from the hotel. You don't need to worry if you miss the train as the schedule is frequent.
The hotel locate just opposite the train station. Close to Rheinfall only 20 minutes by train or by bus. Breakfast is very good. There are 3 kind of egg and offer hot food as well as instant noodle. The room is quite, we got room upgrade to superior which have seperate cloth keeping room.
Good hotel, comfortable room. All the facilities you could want. Very quiet which surprised us a bit as it was right by the station. Nice and convenient for a walk around the town. Receptionist offered up a good selection of restaurants when asked
A lovely hotel with a dedicated and attentive staff. Because of our communication problems, we were not able to identify the exact location of the parking lot. The clerk, attentive and helpful, had no doubts. She took us gently to the place. The location is nice. The room we stayed in was large and the bathroom huge with a perfect shower! Actually the shower is so wonderful that we seem to be inside Rhine Falls, with water at proper temperature! Close to all the local movement, with shops, restaurants, attractions and train and bus station. Its location is also perfect for anyone looking to stay close to Rhine Falls. The breakfast is extarordinary, with products of perfect quality and flavor. Silent to sleep, even being in the place described above. Extremely clean and tidy. Thank you!
Best Western Plus Hotel Bahnhof is in an excellent location (opposite to the central station) and offers very friendly and professional services. Breakfast delicious. Check-in and Check-out was very smooth - hence, I will be back in two weeks time.
Stayed here for business as usual place was full. Pleasantly surprised, good rooms and facilities and helpful friendly staff. Central location and 1 minute walk from train station. Despite its proximity to station rooms very quiet. Not the most modern hotel but a good price. Will certainly use again.
A very cosy hotel right in the heart of the beautiful old town. Very quiet despite close proximity to trains and traffic etc Lovely breakfast, gym, and friendly service make for a lovely stay. Highly recommended.
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights during our 2 week train trip. It was very nice to walk right off the train and into the hotel across the street. Marion was super nice, as well as the other employees. She helped find a Swiss Restaurant for us that had raclette on the menu. I learned that raclette and fondue is a winter menu item. She found that Restaurant Schutzen Stube had rosti on their menu with raclette on top. It was so delicious that we ate there both nights. It comes with 2 cooked eggs but I didn't want eggs, so they prepared grilled vegetables for me. Yummy!!! She also found the train schedule to Rheinfall for me. The hotel was clean. Our large bedroom had carpet, a large luggage bench, large safe with a shelf in the window. The bathroom had a shelf in the window also, great for toiletries. The water pressure was excellent. We had nice fluffy large towels and washcloths! The breakfast, which started at 6:30 am, had an excellent selection of hot and cold items - scrambled eggs, bacon, warm fresh bread, assorted sliced fruit, vegetables, etc. The breakfast hosts were very nice. FYI: We had been planning to take a boat on the Rhine to Stein am Rhein, but the water was too low on September 13. We took a train there and back for the day trip. We would certainly recommend this hotel and it would be our first choice if returning to Schaffhausen.
We had a fantastic stay here with my parents and my children. The front desk welcomes you fondly and the location is fantastic. Nice, clean and great breakfast too! Ice cream vouchers were a fun extra treat too!
I liked this hotel because old town backs directly onto it. It's just a hop, skip and a jump to be in old town and begin strolling past beautiful old buildings. The hotel itself is quite modern inside. We were upgraded and were shown to a spectacular room. It was quite huge with a really cool wood ceiling. The breakfast, which was included, was very nice with hot and cold choices. Nice coffee maker offering a lot of choices as well. The staff was great, very helpful. We drove and were offered parking in a private garage nearby. Note: you do have to walk under the train station to get to and from the garage but only a short walk. Really loved this hotel
The reception that we received could not have been better. There were good areas in which to relax and enjoy a drink The bedrooms were awesome, spacious and very well decorated however a shower curtain in a modern hotel bathroom is somewhat out of place.
I stayed here by chance being delayed by over 3 hours on my flight from London to Zurich. Due to the lateness I was unable to make my planned overnight stop in Germany. Found this hotel by chance when checking a couple of apps and it was a great find. The hotel is conveniently located opposite the railway station in the centre of town. Rooms have recently been renovated and are furnished to a high quality. The room I stayed in was also large. Breakfast in the morning was equally as good. There is also a private garage a few minutes walk down the road. A real find and very competitively prices. If in the area again I will return!
I stayed at best western plus hotel Bahnhof for one night. The hotel is conveniently located in front of the train station, walking distance from the center of the city. I found the room nice, not too big but not even small. Of course cleanliness was at a good level. I recommend it.
I stayed two nights in this hotel for business. It is located conveniently across the street from the train station as well as a bus stop. This hotel was chosen for those reasons, as well for its close proximity to the office I visited during my stay. The hotel has a rich history, which they proudly display in the form of tasteful artwork located throughout the building. The service was absolutely perfect. Everyone was friendly and professional. They even gave me a small bag of cookies with a hand written note wishing me safe travels and a happy holiday. It is a small hotel, which I liked. There are many stores, restaurants, pubs and such within a short walk. The Rhine River is close by as well. Much to see and do without the need for a taxi or bus. I stayed in room 303. It faces towards the train station and a busy room. With the windows closed, I could not really here the noise outside. However, I opened the two windows and let the fresh air and the sounds of the city in. The windows actually opened all the way. Most hotels only allow you to open a window a couple of inches. I loved that I could open the windows all the way and enjoy the sounds of Schaffhausen. There is a speaker in the bathroom that is connected to the t.v. in the room. Within minutes I had Swiss jazz music playing through the t.v. and bathroom speaker. It was awesome! Room 303 has only two areas. The living/sleeping area and the bathroom. I was reminded of a small room I stayed at in New York, a long time ago. The shower was one of the best showers I have used. The bathroom looks a bit more modern that the room and the water pressure was fantastic. After a long day, a hot shower to jazz music was heavenly. I really enjoyed my stay in room 303. I liked people watching from my windows. The room was clean and comfortable. Over the decades, I have stayed in many different places. From the Ritz to a mom-and-pop bed and breakfast. So far, this room tops all of them except one. So far, nothing has beaten my stay at in room 2363, in Jambo House of Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. But then, it is nearly impossible to match Disney. :) The breakfast was the typical breakfast buffet you would expect. The area was clean and the food was good. So far the Radisson Blu in Antwerp still has the best breakfast offerings in my opinion. Even better than what Disney offered. If I am back in town, I will not hesitate to stay here again. Hopefully in room 303!
The hotel is in an excellent location, so near to old city and to the Rhine falls. The breakfast spread was superb and so many choices that cannot be found in most hotels in Europe. Elena who works the afternoon front office shift is super helpful and friendly. She made a difference to my stay at the hotel.
We researched this hotel quite a bit and were surprised how highly it was rated everywhere. We have stayed at hotels near train stations before and most of the time they are basically OK. Well this hotel deserves the ratings it gets. The location is perfect if you come by train and it is right on the edge of the old city. The rooms are spacious for a city hotel, wifi actually works well, and breakfast is quite good. We would certainly stay again and recommend it to anyone.
It is located conveniently just across street from train station where the major bus routes have the stops to take you to anywhere of entire Schaffhausen including to the famous Rhine Fall. The old town is right behind the hotel and Rhine is just near by, and there are loads of shops and restaurants for the convenience of stay. We were being kindly up graded to a superior room which is a kind of corner room on the top floor, bright, clean and simple, pleasantly comfortable Swiss type. The room also with aircon that is definitely an extra luxurious enjoyment at northern area of the country in a warm and muggy summer day. No issues of beds and pillows as well as mattress support which allowed us to have solid sleeps. The bathroom could be called huge in the comparison to other hotels we stayed in about our two-week travelling in Swissland, water pressure and temperature steadiness both were good and their herbs toiletries we just loved. The breakfasts included with room were superb many items to choose from like the variety of cold cuts, different ways cooked eggs, freshly baked breads and pastries, juices and that mamzing cappucino coffee machine could make all kinds taste of coffee you wanted. Their croissants and smoke salmoes were surprisingly good that we had never tasted at any breakfast in our woldwide travels for years, of which was so crunchy outside soft layers inside and the meat texture so rich and oily but not salty so yummy, we had missed them since then. Check-in and out went through smoothly without any problem, the young ladies Andrea at front desk and Dominique in the breakfast room we met were outstanding, both helpful, attentive and accommodating who are the great staffs of the hotel. Would stay again without hesitation if to be in Schaffhausen.
Room was great, very clean and shower the best I have so far in Europe! Breakfast was great. Staff very friendly and helpful especially when I needed a Swiss power adaptor! Parking was ok... expensive but they let you park out the front to load your luggage and then you can park down the road at an outdoor parking area per hour. Schaffhausen is a little hidden gem..... I would never have come here if it wasn't for Lonely Planet recommending it. Lovely little town. The hotel has a great map with a walking tour marked on it.
Very good Hotel, a bit overprized Close to Shops Close to old town Coffe Maschine free in room with coffee/Tea very large Breakfast buffet with fresh fruits etc. Many newspapers to read Reception are a bit awkwad with steep ramp I liked the black and White old Posters/Photographs on the walls in the coridors/rooms
Typical Business hotel. Very friendly staff, very good breakfast. I have been there already several times and it has always been absolutely clean. Location against Railway station is perfect - without any disturbing sounds during night.
We have flown out of ZRH dozens of times. Sometimes stay at Kloten, but prices are high there (even for Switz) and A/C hard to find at a reasonable price. Tried Schaffhausen this time and can highly recommend the BW Bahnhof. Our relatively large room and bathroom were business-like functional. Most importantly, the A/C was great. Room was dead silent and cool even though facing the Bahnhof and with outside temperatures of 90 plus. And with windows closed throughout the building there is an added bonus, no flies! (often a curse while eating, sleeping etc. in Europe in the summer). Breakfast was quite good with the usual extensive assortment of cheeses, meats, eggs, rolls, etc. Staff was very helpful, for example arranging carry-out coffee and rolls because we left early on the last day. The train is literally across the street and takes 45 minutes and 25 SFr to the airport, in other words only slightly more than from Zurich. As for the city of Schaffhausen, it is well worth a visit of a day or two. Though its surroundings are not as impresive as the more touristed cities (no giant peaks or impressive lake etc.) the old town is extensive and quite interesting. Lots of good restaurants too. The hotel is very convenient to the town. Though European Bahnhofs sometimes attract unusual people, the station at the relatively small town of Schaffhausen seemed relatively quiet and safe.
It was our first time in town. All the staff was so warm and nice with us at our arrival. Since we came earlier than expected, they kindly offered us to drop off our lagguages and car. After visiting the town, we have got a great surprise by getting a room upgrade to a suite. Excellent service and great hospitality, very comfortable. Nice experience.
Old hotel that has been tastefully modernised. Very convenient for transport links. Comfortable spacious bedroom with pillow menu. Excellent shower. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The breakfast choice was limited but freshly prepared. Very near to river Rhine and there is a footpath along the river which leads directly to one of the main local landmarks- the Rheinfall, the largest waterfall in Europe. This takes about an hour. Local buses also pass near to the Rheinfall
We stayed here for two nights at the start of our trip round central Europe. This hotel - as you might expect from the name - is situated ideally for local transport links. There are issues with the location which I will cover later in the review. This is an old hotel that has been modernised, so that interior is very modern, and almost indistinguishable from thousands of similar establishments across the world. The WiFi is excellent, the breakfast is very good, and the staff are friendly and efficient. Our room on the top floor was perfectly clean, very big, with a rooftop view across the back of the building. The room had a Nespresso machine - great for coffee, but - hoteliers take note - dreadful for tea, as it does not boil the water! My travelling companion noticed a fair bit of noise about 2am, presumably, from the main street, but the bed was such that I slept through it! I doubt that there would be much noise in rooms at the front of the building as the road in front of the hotel is for buses only. The hotel is situated at the top of a short flight of stairs from a lower level passageway that connects the station subway to the town centre. Both evening we were there, there was someone quite openly selling drugs at the top of these stairs - effectively outside the hotel door; the station subway is the main evening hangout for the local youths, which made it very intimidating to pass though - the only reason though that you'd you'd use this subway in the evenings is to get to the convenient local supermarket. This is probably the best hotel in Schaffhausen all things considered, and Schaffhausen is a lovely town.
Our family stayed in a triple room that had a Murphy bed for the third bed. It was spacious with a desk, couch, and walk in closet. Great extra touches like a personalized note and a welcome gift of chocolates, apples, and a bottle of water for each person. I had communicated via email to confirm the triple and received prompt responses. Hotel located across the street from train station, but we did not hear the noise from our room.
Stayed here on a Wednesday night and had a very nice experience. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and fully stocked with mini bar and snacks for purchase. The breakfast room was large and the selection was very good. The bathroom was clean and there were lots of mini products such as shower cap, etc. which was helpful. The hotel is also on a main road with parking just outside the building. Very easy to find. Overall a very good experience.
Clean, modern, spacious room, with all furnishings, fittings and inclusions in perfect order. Staff friendly and helpful, great location. Only wished we could have stayed longer. Would highly recommend.
This hotel was on a street was very confusing. Cars are not suppose to be allowed on the street, unless you are checking in/out only. We were unfamiliar of the location of the hotel and actually got stopped by the police. After explaining why we were on the street they told us it was okay but only for checking in. The rooms were clean and good size. Breakfast was included in the price and it was great! Not just a continental buffet type but nice hot breakfast foods and great choices and different types of coffees. We were one street from the main shopping area so was able to walk to restaurants and stores.
A very convenient location when arriving by train. The hosts and staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Our room was clean and a good size, with a comfortable bed, and a very good breakfast was provided. Our adaptor for our electrical appliances is the standard European variety which would not fit the recessed Swiss electrical sockets in the room. However, suitable adaptors are available for loan from reception. Would we stay at this hotel again if visiting Schaffhausen? Yes, most definitely.
I decided to stay here the night before a flight out of Zurich after a long business trip in Germany. Booking was a little difficult until I called. The young lady was very, very helpful. In fact she was there the next night when I checked in. Since I had to leave very early, she offered to pack me some breakfast items. It's this kind of service that makes this place really stand out. The room was very comfortable and I slept very well. The parking garage was a little difficult to find for me, but again I was very tired. In all, an excellent stay and experience. I hope the owners read this as they should look up who was working the night of Oct 22, as this lady was amazing and should be told so.
I've stayed here a few times and the recent renovation has made huge improvements. The hotel is clean and centrally located. The rooms are large and have good heating and cooling which can be important depending on when you are there. I've been in summer before they had A/C and you had to open a window which brought in noise. Now they have A/C and it is great. Bathroom clean and large. Breakfast setup has lots of choices and very good. Can't beat the location in town. Close to everything!
It was a fine stay, good location and very clean. Despite other reviews about being very noisy , we did not have any problems with noise. Yu can hear people talking in the street but it was not too bad. We had a third floor room facing the street. The beds are very comfortable. Breakfast just ok per my taste , nothing gourmet or anything like that. I will stay there again if needed because of the beds and the cleaness of the place and the location.
We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The room was nice and clean. It had all the necessary things for a traveller and the staff prepared a very welcoming surprise for us for our honeymoon. The breakfast was very nice and provided a nice variety of cheeses, breads, sweets etc . The only downside ( and that's not an issue) is that the parking is 3 minutes walk away. It's close to train and bus station so travelling is very easy. Very recommended.
Great location, directly across from the train station, convenient and quiet. No car or taxi needed here and public transportation frequent buses are directly across the street. Nice modern hotel and air-conditioned. Note; they give a AAA member discount but, suprising you must have your membership card with you in order to get the discount.
I recently stayed here for a couple of nights whilst on business at Schaffhausen. The hotel is ideally placed right next to the railway station and is also a short walk to the river (definitely worth a stroll if you have time). The room are large and the fittings are decent (also clean which is always good). The bed was comfortable (although some of my colleagues disagreed) and the staff very helpful. The breakfast was typical European fare and was pretty good. The only complaint was that there was a bit of noise (i was at the back of the hotel by request to avoid noise and could still hear it so front of house must have been very noisy) and my view of scaffolding wasn't great in such a picturesque city (although that was my fault - see above). All in all a good hotel for the price! (also free Wi Fi - very good!)
Our first destination in this year's Switzerland trip. We landed early in Zurich, caught the train to schaffhausen and found the hotel bang opposite to the main station. Since we reached earlier than the check-in time, we left the bags in the reception and went for a stroll around town. They had our room ready with our bags already placed in the room when we got back after about 2 hours and to our surprise, they gave us a complimentary room upgrade. We were so thrilled. The room was big with a living room that had 2 foldable wall-beds. There was a nespresso coffee machine too that we loved! The bedroom was cozy and the bed comfortable. Bathroom was clean and spacious with a bathtub+shower and there was an additional small bathroom with a toilet & washbasin. So this room would have been very comfortable for a family of 4/5 but we were even more comfortable!! Breakfast was very filling and good- in addition to the usual cereals, eggs, bread and coffee/tea, they also had fresh fruits, cold cuts, salmon, fried sausages and scrambled eggs. Overall we were really pleased with the room, service and hotel. Highly recommended :)
Excellent location from which to visit Schaffhausen and neighboring communities. A short walk to local sights, dining and shops. Friendly staff and reliable internet. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area.
Wow, this was a really nice treat to end our stay in hotels on our trip (we went to stay with family after this). It was so swish and large and clean. They were very accommodating and offered us lots of help finding places to eat and sights to see.
Having reviewed this hotel last year, with a top rating, I was interested to see if it had changed. This time on arrival, we were first offered a small back room on Floor 2 that was quite dismal and lacked space. This level of room is barely three-star quality, and not aligned with the hotel's four-star rating. However, the friendly Reception staff immediately offered another room on Floor 3, which was significantly better than our first. It was an upgraded room and it was excellent - colourful, bright, roomy and with a pleasant large bathroom. Thereafter, our stay was very pleasant. Looking in open doors along the corridor, we could see that, on the third floor, all rooms seemed to have the same bright, welcoming red carpets and nice furniture, though our corner room was larger than the others. It was well-cooled by air-con, on a very hot summer day. I was concerned that our room, overlooking the station and a main road, would be noisy during the night, but we heard nothing at all. I would only suggest that the hotel provides better screening from summer morning sun and street light, because having gone to bed at 1:30 am, I could not sleep beyond 6 am - a minor inconvenience only, because that is a wonderful time to get up and explore the lovely historic Schaffhausen streets and riverside, which are rather busier in daytime. Worthy of special note in this hotel is the excellent breakfast buffet, served in a comfortable, quiet room. The buffet offered a large variety of food, with hot options such as two kinds of cooked eggs, crispy bacon and pancakes. The fruit selection was fresh and expansive. Overall, everything I said in my first review is still true and the unfortunate first offer of the small, dark room was quickly forgiven, though this alone accounts for my deduction of one star. We will stay here again.
My hotel experience offered a dependable, courteous and helpful staff. The breakfast room was welcoming with a wonderful breakfast arrangement and assortment. The hotel is close to the train station and central to everything.
This was my second stay in the last 3 years. And I have seen many useful improvements. More English TV channels and newspapers in English than when I stayed there in 2013. The rooms are small, modern and functional, but most rooms in Schaffhausen are small. Perfect for a business stay. The location right across from the train station is also a big plus. I would stay there again.
Incredicle good service on my one night stay this week. Besides being greeted very warmly and a very nice room, the staff also helped me out very readily and did not scare away from much effort when I lost the pendant to my necklace! Also: Hefezopf zum Frühstück! :-)
The people were kind, collaborative. The room was very fine and clean. I have even proposed a free room improvement and I have enjoyed it. The place is located centrally in Schaffhausen next to transportation services.
Super great location! Very clean and quite spacious for this level of hotels room. Great breakfast and very friendly staff. They helped me with the luggage storage after check-out. Umbrellas are available when raining. Plug adaptor with no deposit! Nothing to complain about.
I was staying in Schaffhausen for business and in the past I have stayed at other more expensive hotels but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this hotel, I understand it has been recently refurbished, and the staff were very very helpful, nothing was to much trouble. Thanks it was an excellent stay.
We had an excellent room for a family - very spacious for beds, living area, clothes and bathroom. Excellent service. Very helpful. Lovely breakfast. Plus very quick to send on a forgotten charger. Not to forget a great location for exploring the town and public transport if needed.
Hotel is near from a strategic area, good restaurants and shopping area. The breakfast is very good. It is not allowed smoking into hotel (it is very nice). Hotel is in front of the bus station. To Simplify, I recommend everybody.
This hotel has the best customer service in Switzerland! Every request is met with a smile and nothing is too much trouble for them. The location is great being right across the road from the train station and also being close to many shops and restaurants in the pedestrian malls. The hotel staff are happy to make restaurant reservations for you. The view from our room was sensational, see the attached photo! Breakfast was fresh and tasty with a selection of hot and cold choices. Thoroughly recommended!
The Bahnhof is a clean and comfortable hotel with great facilities. I would like to make special mention of Andrea and Mareike who went out of their way to make us feel at home and met our special needs always with a smile. When you are away from home and need a friendly smile and a chat this is very comforting. I can't wait for my next visit! I will be recommending it to our hosts and my business.
Located directly across from the station and a few metres from the delightful old town this is a good option when visiting Schaffhausen . My room was modern clean and well equiped . Wifi was included as was breakfast . For a short stay this could not be bettered although the Rhine is a short walk away . The breakfast buffet was good and the staff were friendly and efficient . The hotel lacked s bit of character but for s short stay in a business trip it was ideal . I faced the old town street and there was some street noise but not intrusive .
The hotel was outdated and could use a renovation. However, the staff was great, service was good and the hotel is located in a prime location to the city center. So many places to shop and eat and drink. I spent a few weeks here and really enjoyed the feel of the swiss village. The town is filled with shops and great vendors on the weekend. I highly recommend a vist to Schaffhausen.
I am a frequent, frequent traveler. I have stayed at hotels that cost multitudes more, yet did not deliver the ease, comfort, and support that this little gem delivers. The public facilities are spotless. The location is perfect, right across from the trains station and an easy walk to restaurants and local businesses. The rooms are spacious and well-apportioned; and very clean. The workout facility is small but perfectly functional, with equipment that can be used for almost any type of athlete (I do multiple workout types). I will certainly stay here again!
The room was small, but met my needs, perfectly. The service was great, as was the breakfast. The location is perfect... just across the street from the train station and just around the corner from the walking area of Schaffhausen, which is beautiful.
It has good location, just across the street to the train station, near downtown. Room is clean and has hot-water pot and slippers, which is convenience for travelers. Breakfast is good in general, personally I would like to have more vegetables. Staff is professional. When price can be more favorable, it will be perfect.
This hotel was recommended to me by a friend in Solothurn, who worked at the Schaffhausen, Hotel Bahnhof many years ago. After returning from Muenchen, I was glad to arrive at this meticulously clean hotel, with very friendly staff and new amenities in the room. The hotel staff has worked hard to make the dining room extra clean, warm and comfortable with a great variety of breakfast foods. For the price, I found it to be a good value in one of the nicer cities in Switzerland.
Nice People, good breakfast, wary central to all need, close to town, close to rail road station, wary nice scenery, clos to German border. The river rain an its nice falls and view, historical buildings with the castle Is a must.
Wherever I go, no matter which country, if there's a Best Western hotel I'll book it. Here in switzerland where I live usually prices are by far higher than what I payed for in this hotel. For such a low price located directly at the main trainstation (almost no noises, no busy trainstation and car free area) with very beautiful and clean rooms, a very good breakfast buffet (no bananas, so no perfect, I need them). It seems that typical Swiss quality and Best Western guaranteed quality go quiet well in hand.
Good reception, Quiet Room even if your room is the station side. Good breafast Many restaurants not far form the hotel I stayed 3 nights for business activities since monday night to Thrusday afternoon
Everything was just perfect. Location, staff, value for money, parking possibility, rooms, cleanliness and especially superb breakfast. I couldn't possibly ask for more. Highly recommended hotel in Schaffhausen.
Stayed two nights on business. The hotel is close to the train station but very quiet. Many restaurants are near by. The rooms and bathrooms are large and functional. There is an excellent breakfast in the morning.
We stayed 1 night at the BW Bahnhof Hotel. Room was large, very clean, very nice, and full equipped with all needs, nice decorated with a view to the old railstation. Breakfast was excellent with all need for healthy meal. The hotel has no parking. The hotel location in about 2 minutes waking from the center. We would not hesitate to recommend of the BW Bahnhof Hotel, we definitely will be happy to come back and stay again.
Hotels in Switzerland are generally overly expensive. This one is centrally located near the train station and downtown restaurants, is quiet and well appointed for a reasonable price. It is modern comfortable and has an excellent front desk staff. Definitely worth taking advantage of when in Schaffhausen.
I had to visit a business partner in Schaffhausen in June last year and decided to stay over in the city, as train connections were bad that day. The hotel is opposite of the train station, making it very convenient. Also, it is just a couple of minutes by foot to the city center, having plenty of small Cafe's and Restaurants. The room was convenient and offered everything one would expect from a best western hotel. The Front office staff and restaurant staff were very polite and made my stay in Schaffhausen a very pleasant one. Breakfast the next day morning was already very good and I still remember the fresh and lovely strawberries from the buffet, which caught my attention, as not being usual on a breakfast buffet. Should I ever have to stay over in Schaffhausen again, I surely will stay at this hotel.
The room was clean, and with Air conditioning and heat available along with a desk, ironing board and hair dryer. This room is well outfitted for travelers. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic. A fitness room was available but I did not use. The close proximity to the train station is very convenient albeit noise a potential concern to some travelers. The front desk staff was excellent and very helpful. Thank you.
The hotel couldn't be positioned any better opposite the bus and railway stations and backing onto the old town. The Migros store next door was a bonus. The room was very comfortable with air conditioning and there was no noise from outside. The reception staff spoke very good English and were more than helpful. All the staff were very polite with a ready smile. The usual style of self service breakfast in the pleasant dining room was as good as we've seen. This excellent hotel provided the ideal base for our four night break in Schaffhausen.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights as we were passing through Schaffhausen. The hotel is situated a short 2/3 minute walk from the station. We arrived earlier than the stated check-in time which wasn't a problem and the receptionist checked us smoothly and efficiently. Our room was as expected; clean and modern with everything we needed for our short stay. The bed was very comfortable and the "pillow menu" was a nice touch. The air conditioning was very welcome as the outside temperature was in the low 30's. The hotel is located an easy five minute walk away from the old town with its plentiful restaurants and shops and a 10 minute walk to the banks of the Rhein. Breakfast was self service and of a good standard with plenty of choice (cooked or continental) which was frequently restocked. A very pleasant, convenient, no fuss, hotel.
