"Nice hotel on the island"
479russellp, 11 Octobre 2023

We arrived at midday here and the check in time is from 14:00 however was going to just ask if we could put our car in the car park but the friendly receptionist checked us in early so bonus and very good of them. Seen a review about the car park being tight and although our car would be classed as a Chelsea tractor had no problem manoeuvring it in. We booked the double suit that overlooks the Loire. Fantastic view, room was a bit dated but the bathroom was modern so no real complaints. The kettle lead had been wired down the back of a cupboard but didn't reach the socket but a quick trip to reception and we were provided with a new kettle so good service on their behalf. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The hotel is ideally situated and decent value. Would certainly return. Thanks for a great 3 day stay

"Great location"
davidkaisergems, 30 Mars 2023

Located right on the Loire river my room had a beautiful view. Walking distance from the shops and restaurants. Nice staff. Small room but this is a standard size in France. Would definitely stay again.

"Reliable hotel"
Izzywizz_8, 27 Août 2022

Stayed here many times but stayed in the suite this time. However, I prefer a normal room which are spacious and well equipped. Breakfast seemed more limited than usual and we were not greeted on arrival to breakfast. Internet on the third floor is weak.

"Great location, very tired room with a sink surround that stains everything "
Kevin-NewTricks, 24 Juillet 2022

Firstly this hotel is in a great location and only a ten minute walk to the centre. The receptionist and the woman who was in charge of breakfast were both great. The room however was in desperate need of refurbishment. Initially our air conditioning wasn't working but the receptionist (she seemed to be doubling up as maintenance) came up and replaced/cleaned the filter and it was fine after that. The bathroom was a mess. Someone has decided to paint the area around the sink with brown paint that isn't waterproof. Everything that touched it (toothbrushes, towels, shaver, etc,) came away stained. I mentioned this at checkout but the receptionist didn't seem surprised or particularly interested. I suspect she knows about it. Breakfast was fine. Private parking is very tight. If you have a larger car I wouldn't bother, I'd stick to the street outside. We have a VW Golf and it was difficult to manoeuvre in and out. Oh then there's the price. We were quoted 11 euros on arrival, then 10 euros on checkout. My wife then pointed out it says 9 euros on the tariff notice in reception and that suddenly became the price! Overall then the hotel is in a good position but in need of some investment. Its a long way past its best

"comfortable and clean."
kimobear, 07 Février 2020

Older property, nice location, had a room facing the river but with a road below, was concerned about the noise at first but when you close the windows it was nice and quiet. Room was clean. Within walking distance of the town and attractions. Also within walking distance of the train station. Would stay there again when in town.

"Good location for exploring Saumur and Loire Valley"
550ChristineH, 21 Octobre 2019

Good hotel in convenient location. Clean and comfortable. Convenient on street parking. Helpful staff and good breakfast. Easy walking distance of lots of good eateries. Can recommend as a good base for exploring town. Tea and coffee in room.

"Convenient and comfortable"
K9077OHchriss, 11 Août 2019

Stayed here one night enroyte to Caen from Dordogne. Easy to find, with free parking at front. Booked a family room (for four) which served purposes well. Very friendly and helpful staff; good breakfast. Walked into town for dinner - lots of choice. Wandered round town in morning; some beautiful sites. Well situated, close to main bridges.

"Good hotel"
Triskellion, 26 Juillet 2019

We have not stayed here before, a good location about 10 minutes walk over the bridge into town. A few restaurants and bars nearby though. There was plenty of parking around the hotel on the street. Friendly young lady's on reception who all spoke good English. We had a family room and it was quite big, two big doubles which was great for me and daughter. WiFi was a bit of a pain as it kept logging off but we managed with it. Air con was handy as it was 40+ degrees when we were here this week but they posted a sign to say they had to control it to a certain temp as if everyone had tried to set the lowest temp there would have been problems, which is fair enough!

"Lovely location on an island in the Loire"
dtredhead, 02 Juillet 2019

This hotel is beautifully situated adjacent to the Loire. It is nicely functional with comfortable rooms, but now lacking a bit of character which it once had wghen we last visited it.It has lost its restaurant, though the breakfasts are of good quality with classy orange juice. the staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was quite cramped (304), avoid this room and opt for one of the larger. A comfortable visit in a lovely location.

"Our third visit here – still fabulous!!"
SuzanneD214, 12 Mai 2019

This hotel has been refurbished in the last year or two and the results are very good. Rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast choices are excellent, with good choices including gluten free cereals. Staff are very helpful and friendly. This is our go-to place in the Loire.

"Great hotel"
Steve E, 17 Avril 2019

Perfect hotel in a great location. Staff were extremely helpful and polite. Rooms are a good size and some have great views over the Loire. Breakfast is very good and was included in the rate for the room.Hotel is very clean and well presented and has some good artworks in the reception area.

"Friendly and comfortable"
Audrey572018, 23 Septembre 2018

Very friendly. The receptionist even came out to check that we were OK where we had parked and that we were in a free space and not a chargeable one (although we couldn't see anywhere to pay anyway). The room was very comfortable and even had a fridge where we could place our milk once I'd been out and bought some "proper milk". We were here for 2 nights and it was an easy walk across the river to find a restaurant for dinner. Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice (although the water for the self boil eggs wasn't hot enough to cook them in the time we left them in for so we had to leave them the first day - the second day we left them in for longer). Would definitely book here again if staying in Saumur particularly as breakfast was not extortionate unlike some other hotels we stayed in on this holiday (on our way to and from our gite in the south).

"Friendly staff and comfortable hotel"
Tommylu61, 13 Septembre 2018

The staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is good with a varied selection of pastries and meats. Bed was comfortable. Location was a bout a 10 minute walk from the centre. Overall a good hotel.

"A bit run down but OK for one night"
sandyLimassol, 07 Septembre 2018

We almost left when we saw the facade of the hotel, but had booked so decided to stay. The private parking was definitely a plus. Room was small and stuffy. We asked reception the best place to have dinner and askedher book a table - no need she said - it's Monday so not busy. Well everything was fully booked and we had to wait until 9:30 before we could get a table.

"Reliably good"
Izzywizz_8, 05 Septembre 2018

We have stayed here many times, normally through a Brittany Ferries booking. Whilst staff are relatively impersonal, they are generally polite and helpful. The rooms are usually kept quite fresh in terms of decor and the quality of decor is good for French hotels. Rooms have a decent ensuite, a mini bar/fridge and a digital clock on the TV (very helpful when you wake up in the dark). Bedding is of good quality and there are spare pillows in the wardrobe. Cleanliness is very good, unlike many French hotels where hoovering into the corners seems unheard of. Breakfast is a sedate affair, with a well stocked continental buffet. The breakfast room is light and airy. Parking is usually available on the street, either in front or at the side, alongside the river. It is an easy walk into town and is quiet at night. I always look forward to staying here as it is so reliable. I would have given 5 stars but on one rare occasion, we had not booked and there was only the suite left. It was rather pricy but we stayed. I was disappointed to find clothes in the wardrobe. Obviously someone had been using it for a period and cleaning was not up to scratch in the bathroom as there were hairs in the basket of toiletries which had not been checked. That said, we always return if possible.

"No complaints "
Jaspie, 19 Août 2018

Stayed here for one night and it was pretty much what you expect from a Best Western - clean, efficient, good value - but no wow factor. It is in a good location, a short walk across the bridge to the centre. Good sized room, view of the river.

"Good Location"
DP25, 07 Août 2018

We stayed here during the Anjou Velo in June and found the location perfect, close enough to walk into the town centre (10 mins max) but away from the chaos of the road closures. The hotel is very good and the staff friendly and helpful and the breakfast also very good. The rooms are comfortable with aircon and many with good views over the river, the cheaper single rooms look over the internal courtyard but are quiet! Parking is a bit of an issue, the hotel itself has very limited (tight) parking and the on street parking outside the front of the hotel is limited to 90 mins; we arrived early and managed to find free unlimited parking on a back street nearby.

"Nice Overnight stop in comfortable hotel"
Maurizio V, 23 Juillet 2018

We stayed at the Best Western in Saumur overnight on our way back to UK. We wanted something central to Saimur old town and comfortable with easy parking and breakfast. This hotel ticked all the boxes! We had a nice sized room overlooking the river. The room was to a good stardard, high end 3 star I would say. Like the rest of the hotel it looked recently refurbished. The bed was very comfortable and the AirCon worked well. The bathroom facilities were good and everywhere was clean. We had coffee making facilities in room. The breakfast was a little pricey but it was good enough to set you off nicely for the day if you wanted a light lunch later. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and were lucky enough to find a free parking space right in front of the hotel, but these spaces are only free on a Sunday (until 9am Monday) otherwise they are only for 15 mins or 90 mins with a parking disc. However it did look like there were on road free parking spaces in the side roads near the hotel. The location of he Hotel was great. It was only a 10 min walk to the old town across the other side of the river, although there are a few restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk of the hotel. Overall we had a very good overnight stop and would stay here again.

"Good overnight stopover with secure parking"
mjcopcutt, 10 Juillet 2018

Good hotel for a stopover en route, easily found good location clean with nice staff. Secure underground parking ideal for motorcycles. We did not eat in the hotel so can't comment on the food but overall very good.

"Great hotel, position excellent, staff helpful and pleasant, breakfast very good."
Sandra P, 24 Mai 2018

Our room overlooked the Loire, we used the hotel parking facilities, easy to get around by foot or by car. Room was good especially the bathroom facilities. Good night sleep in very good and comfortable bed. Cleaning staff very good. Would not hesitate to stay again.

"Efficient, comfortable, friendly"
BobPhyll, 13 Mai 2018

The hotel is what you'd expect of a Best Western - efficient and comfortable with helpful staff. Ask for a river view room, its a pleasant aspect. Its a pleasant 10 mins walk over the bridge into the centre of town where the restaurants etc are. We booked secure parking because we had a lot of luggage in the car. If you don't have that, there's free parking outside the hotel.

"Fantastic Hotel Near Saumur Town Center"
mom2boys916, 11 Mars 2018

Although this hotel isn't in the town center of Saumur, I loved my stay and just booked my next stay! It is a short and lovely 10 minute walk to the town center, 20 minute walk to the Chateau de Saumur. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and some of them offer a fantastic view of the Loire. Breakfast was simple but fresh and tastey. Staff is very professional, and we're incredibly helpful with any questions. This is my go-to hotel for staying in Saumur, and would even be a great base for exploring the Loire Valley and surrounding areas. Thank you for the wonderful stay BW Hotel Adagio! See you again soon! :)

"Friendly"
Monica H, 09 Novembre 2017

I stopped 2nights at Hotel Adagio and found it very friendly. There is free parking beside the hotel or secure parking within the hotel at 7 euros per night. Despite being in the centre, it was quiet in the evening. Facilities were excellent. Definitely stay again. Very easy to find

"Nice room with a view"
Merlin_de_Manaus, 07 Novembre 2017

We had a nice 1st floor room on a corner so we had 2 views and the room was very bright. Everything was very clean and had all that we expected for a Best Western hotel. The hotel is a short walk to the centre of town and has off street car parking although it is quite tight if you have a large car. There is plenty of on street parking outside too. This hotel does not have a restaurant although they will serve breakfast. This is not an issue with so many places to eat close by. The front desk does not seem to be manned all of the time and we have to wait after ringing the bell for a few minutes. The receptionists were all very pleasant though and since this is not a high star hotel it is what you would come to expect. One thing I would suggest to the management - clean the outside balconies! I know there are a lot of flies from the river and that attracts a lot of spiders webs to catch them but the state of the balcony we had was not acceptable. It would not take any trouble for someone with a broom to clear the webs away once a month to try and keep the mess at bay. Many geusts sleep with the windows open and this was not easy to do with the state of the balcony. I would return here as the location is perfect. Far enough away not to get the noise but close enough to walk off dinner.

"Nice hotel, good location"
PrincessLil, 10 Octobre 2017

Stayed here for one night with 2 of my friends. We were limited with our options since we needed a triple room but were not disappointed with this hotel. It is about a 10 minute walk to the main town center BUT you get a beautiful view of the castle and the town while you make the walk over the bridge. The hotel staff was very friendly and we enjoyed our one night stay. I'd definitely stay here again in the future.

"Great location in Saumur"
BRIGITTETRAVEL, 13 Septembre 2017

+s Enjoyed the walk across the bridge into beautiful Saumur Several pretty villages to visit around, all with great views of the Loire -s had to ask receptionist to provide towels for 2, was set for 1. Phone didn't work initially, some electric points didn't work. All was promptly corrected/organised by a friendly receptionist though.

"Over night stop over"
LAINEYDevon, 11 Septembre 2017

Good clean room, Quiet good facilities, Close to the town and we where able to park our motorcycle for free. Staff very friendly and helpful.Request for Air conditioning to be lowered at the reception was done and a flat sheet given on request to use instead of the duvet which was too hot. Breakfast was good with a good selection.

"Not worth the money! "
K-Louise125, 07 Septembre 2017

The room is quite depressing, basic furniture and very dark walls and curtains. Fairly small, not much room to walk around or put your luggage. Very dated hotel, old and plain. It's in a good location, 15 minute walk to the main town. Was a bit disappointed as reception told me my room was ready, but when I got to my room it was being cleaned so I couldn't go in and had to wait a further half hour. The staff seem okay but not very talkative. There is a carpark but with a fee, very tight and not a lot of room for more than 4 / 5 cars. You have to reserve a space before turning up.

"Stopover"
duad21, 07 Septembre 2017

This hotel is in a great location . The hotel is pleasant if a little dated . The room we stayed in was very good value so it met our expectations but was in need of decoration and was basic. The sequence of light switches was difficult to work out ! If you don't like spiders do not look through the secondary glazing on the ground floor.Easily sorted with a bit of housekeeping. Breakfast was good.

"Superb stopover, wish we'd stayed longer"
Jimbo800, 10 Août 2017

A great position on the edge of the old town and 5 minutes walk across a bridge to the old centre proper. The hotel is clean and comfortable, fairly modern out of an old building with fabulous breakfast and friendly staff. No restaurant but plenty of eating options within easy walking distance. We only stayed one night en route elsewhere but would very happily go again. Saumur itself is a most wonderful town very much worth a visit.

"One Night in Saumur"
RDT1971, 03 Août 2017

Traveling though en route to Paris. Nice hotel a short walk from city centre in Saumur. The hotel is on the island in the middle of the Loire and overlooks the river itself. Decent parking available at the front of the hotel (if you are lucky) or close by. The family room was large and had double bed and 2 singles which worked well. Nicely appointed bathroom but bizarrely had the bath/shower under the sloping roof so you couldn't stand up straight to use the shower itself. Bed was not the most comfortable either. Wifi worked well though so kids delighted! Otherwise quiet and nicely decorated with helpful staff and easy check in and check out. Would definitely stop here again.

"A night's stopover on our motorbike tour"
Michelle S, 01 Août 2017

We were a group of 4 motorcyclists, 2 couples, touring France and Spain. We stayed here on our first night. We had pre booked this hotel a few weeks before. 2 rooms one was a superior room, aledgely. Room was okay. Bathroom was okay, showerehead needed some attention. We had cold beers when we arrived as we were hot and bothered, most welcome. After showering and changing we ventured out for a walk into the old town. Very Lovely, found a restaurant for dinner. Came back towards hotel and the bar over the road had a band playing outside, so we had a beer and stayed listening for a while. We hadn't ordered breakfast, but we were offered a coffee before we headed off to our next destination. I would stay here again.

"Nice hotel and location"
Henry B, 24 Juillet 2017

We arrived at the hotel to find that they had not put us down for two twin rooms so when we went down to mention it they gave us another room complete free. I was very impressed by the way he dealt with it and was more than happy with every thing else.

"Stay in Saumur"
Kay B, 20 Juillet 2017

Very good and nice Hotel! Exzellent service, very friendly staff. Nice and tidy rooms, very good breakfast. When in Saumur, than book the Adagio! I stay often in Saumur and the Hotel is my first choice! K.Boemer

"Overlooking the Loire..."
iamallovertheplace, 19 Juillet 2017

Had a great stay in a nice, clean and compact room, overlooking the river on a recent cycling trip along the Loire. Good, secure bike storage at the back of the hotel. Location is on an island in the middle of the river - it's a pleasant 10 minute walk across the bridge to Saumur town centre, where there are plenty of places to eat and watch the world go by. Staff here were very welcoming and helpful. Good WiFi. A very good stay.

"It's a good hotel - but small things annoy"
Brian S, 17 Juillet 2017

Yes it's good, clean and comfortable as you would expect from a Best Western. 10 minutes walk from town so a convenient location. Reasonable breakfast but pricey and not the best coffee. Free small bottle of water on first night. Underground parking is €7 a night but very difficult to access with a very tight entrance - take extra care if you have a larger car/SUV. Bathroom fan not working. No power points next to the bed. You have to get a safe key from reception. And the most annoying- the central heating is controlled centrally - so whilst you can have different fan speeds it has to be 24deg - why??

"Feeling of disappointment"
pubdog33, 12 Juillet 2017

We stay here as our preferred hotel and last stayed a year ago but in a year things have changed. The décor is looking tired now - we had just come from a newly refurbed Kyriad in Lunel - and so in comparison our room looked downtrodden. The main change was that they have now centralised the control of your room's air con - so you cannot have it cooler than 23. Given that the outside temp was 31 we were less than impressed. No amount of asking made them change their minds, seems them saving money is more important than guest comfort. We checked out a day early and the manager did not seem to care. Sorry but we will be finding somewhere else to stay next time.

"Short holiday break"
John D, 02 Juillet 2017

We stayed in this hotel for four nights during short holiday break to the Loire. It's conveniently located and easy to find. The room was neat and tidy. Breakfast was adequate with a reasonable selection and the wifi access worked well.

"Nice hotel, great location"
Kev69, 28 Mai 2017

My friends and I travelled to the Loire Valley in May 2017 and were very pleased with our choice of hotel. We were in the area to take in a bit of sight-seeing but primarily to visit the Musee De Bindes, the tank museum, across the river and up beyond the beautiful château that dominates the hillside overlooking the main town of Saumur. The hotel is based on a small island in the middle of the Loire river and easy to find. It is close to several bars and restaurants, but if a wider choice is preferred, then a ten minute walk across the bridge will bring you to the old town where there is some further choice available. The hotel itself is bright and airy, and we were able to have a couple of drinks in the bar straight after checking in, which was very welcome after being on the road and ferry from England for about nine hours. Rooms were very well appointed and clean with spacious beds, nice views from the windows, tea and coffee facilities, and a lovely bathroom with twin wash basins, towels, bathrobes and complimentary slippers for both sexes. I got a good night's sleep here which is unusual for me on the first night away from home, so that says a lot about the comfort of the bed. Breakfast was a pretty standard continental fare of breads, cold meats, cheeses, cereals, fruit and juices, and hard boiled eggs. There were also fresh eggs and a boiler for those who like a soft boiled egg. Very enjoyable and all three of us left the table satisfied. Pleasant and helpful staff who also spoke English, which was handy for us. There is also a part-covered car park at the back of the hotel but there is more than adequate parking outside. Would recommend.

"Pleasantly surprised"
ADxexpat, 22 Mai 2017

Booked a bigger room here for the larger bed and a bit more space as I was expecting it to be a bit functional. Room was a pleasant surprise with large comfortable firm bed and what seemed like a newly renovated bathroom with two basins (shame shower was over bath not separate) Some details could be improved - apparently it is Best Western policy to only provide one 500ml bottle of water per room even if two occupants and a higher price room (saved them 30 cents but made me think they were cheap and not valuing customers). Slippers were unexpectedly provided - shame I do not have two left feet to fit the ones given ! Nice guy on front desk who handled my questions on water, slippers etc with calm. Not great when fire alarm went off in midddle of night but that can happen anywhere. Decent continental breakfast available at extra cost in a nice airy room with windows. Location is pretty convenient, just 5 mins walk across the bridge to be in centre of Saumur with restaurants etc. Decent choice if you want simple modern hotel rather than traditional or boutique style.

"Where they really full?"
Tony2710, 19 Mai 2017

Our hotel in Chinon had problems with hot water so travelled on to Saumur. Found this hotel and only room was the third floor suite at top rate! During our stay hotel seemed guest free so query that actually full and may have screwed us as late afternoon arrival. The suite was very over priced and quirky in style. Toilet miles from bathroom. Beds nice and view over one side of river ...not the best side as that is on the other side as the hotel is on an island. 10 minute walk to decent restaurants. Staff pleasant. Parking on site with large 4x4 little tricky ...fortunately only other two cars in basement parking. Overall acceptable but disappointed at thought of rip off re room.

"A night in Saumur"
Terry B, 17 Mai 2017

Stayed in this excellent hotel for one night on the way back to Brittany after a week in the Dordogne. We had a suite of rooms - one had an extraordinarily comfortable and huge bed and a bathroom, the other had a sitting area with two comfortable armchairs, a coffee table, a mini bar, safe etc. and the WC. Both rooms, which were separated by a sliding Japanese-type screen, had huge flat screen TV sets. The view from the rooms, over the River Loire and to the countryside beyond, was exceptional. Breakfast (as much as one wanted and a wide choice) was provided as part of the package. I paid 150 Euros (about £125) for this stay, and it truly was exceptional value. Staff were friendly and helpful, and it certainly served to confirm my feeling that it is worth paying a bit more for decent facilities and service.

"Great location and view"
41sitgesfan, 01 Mai 2017

A typical three star modern hotel, but with service better than can be expected. Well stocked breakfast. A small bar, manned by the receptionists. Small, but modern and clean room and bathroom. Beautiful location, just a ten minutes walk to the city center.

"Nice location"
Riverbankannie, 18 Mars 2017

We had a first floor room with a Juliet balcony overlooking the river. Staying on a very hot few days, the air on was welcome. Hotel staff very welcoming and helpful. The hotel was selected for its secure parking. Hotel not situated in the heart of the town but easy walk over bridge.

"Huge room, especially the bathroom"
davetheguide, 20 Octobre 2016

The hotel is located directly on the River Loire, though the view of the river from this spot is not the greatest. Free parking is available on the street beside the hotel. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. The woman at reception spent considerable time trying to help us with dinner reservations and made a decent recommendation. The room was large, classic style with the largest hotel bathroom I've seen yet. Breakfast was quite nice, so make sure to take it.

"Great location as a break in return journey to UK"
Phil J, 06 Octobre 2016

Hotel in easy walking distance from main 'old town' for restaurants/shops and also to see the famous chateau or short drives to Fontevraud/ Chinon etc. The only hotel receptionist in a 2week travelling French holiday to ask if I would prefer to speak in French or English. When I said French, she assured me she would try to speak clearly and not too fast..refreshing! Breakfast was good. Room comfortable. Private on site parking to pay for.

"Convenient"
piririnha, 19 Septembre 2016

We stayed one night in a room overlooking the river. Very neat, quiet, clean, good bathroom and shower. The bed queen size was comfortable. Keep your window closed as advised to do so because of the tiny mosquitos. The breakfast consisted of a nice selection of cheese and charcuterie, fresh baguette and croissants, cakes and yoghurt, no espresso machine but nice coffee.

"BW Adagio: Super convenient, clean, quiet, well done!"
CurtEastPoint, 04 Septembre 2016

Stayed 2 nights, nice modern room, appropriate size for France. Good breakfast. Friendly personnel and good walk-to restaurants right nearby. I'd recommend the Pub House for pizza and La Pierre Chaude for French. Priced right and delicious. You can park in the median in the street (it's legal and enough room) or pay to park in hotel. Right next to the Loire River. Oh, and there is an elevator,

"Great vaue, great breakfasts!"
nubley44, 04 Septembre 2016

My wife and I, plus son (17) and daughter (11) stayed in a family room (two double beds) for a night on our way back from holiday in the Dordogne. Room was no frills but clean, comfortable and perfectly adequate. We paid £82 via booking.com, which was excellent value (although we did book before the post-Brexit Sterling fall). We were also able to park right outside, although it was a weekend and it would be worth checking if that is possible on weekdays. Breakfasts are a bit pricey (13 Euros adults, 12 Euros children) but delicious and 'all you can eat' so if you have a healthy appetite and a long day head (as we did) I would say well worth it.

"Lovely hotel, great location"
joanna345, 02 Septembre 2016

We stayed one night in this lovely town and the hotel was very good. Parking may be a problem, so we paid 7 euros to use their secure under ground parking which was definitely worth it. Good location, short walk to the centre. Good air con and a mini bar.

"Good location, comfortable, interesting town."
andrew o, 20 Août 2016

Stayed here four nights whilst visiting Saumur and the Grand Prix Retro at nearby Le Puy Notre Dame. Very good location overlooking the Loire and easy walk to the centre of town, the chateau, and restaurants. The hotel had secure covered parking which was great as we were travelling in classic open cars. Room was large, clean and comfortable with aircon. Very good breakfast buffet in the spacious dining room. Staff were all very friendly and helpful particularly Monsieur Paul.

"Well situated "
Charlotteb73, 17 Août 2016

Stayed here on an overnight stop on the way to Spain. We stayed as a family of four, there was secure parking at the back of the hotel. Room for four people was two double beds, would have preferred a double and twin or twins, but ok for one night. Hotel was clean, easy check in and conveniently situated for the town of Saumur, which is a lovely town, very picturesque.

"Good location and extremely comfortable"
Riverbankannie, 03 Août 2016

Courteous friendly staff especially Monsiur Paul. Rooms large and comfortable and had air con which was adjustable and quiet. Some off street parking available. Coffee and tea making facilities in room . Views of river from rooms and easy walk into old part of town and to the Chateau. A good variety of attractions in Saumur and vicinity.

"Relaxed hotel with excellent room; bit lacking in facilities"
John D, 03 Août 2016

We (2 adults and our 12 year old) arrived on July 24 and had a nice stay in a large room on the 4th floor. Even with the extra bed there was good space and the air conditioning worked pretty well, although the temperature was centrally controlled, and seemed to go off in the middle of the night. The breakfast room was small and quite intimate with a nice view, and the breakfast itself was good, including boiled eggs! Beware the "river view" from this hotel - at the time of year we stayed there was almost no water in this branch of the Loire, it's all going round the other side of the Island! Still, if you want to look out at a pond and some long grass, fine, it's not an unpleasant sight, just not really a river. It's a bit of a walk into Saumur, a little under 10 mins. There are more central hotels. It wasn't a surprise to us, but this hotel is small and lacks the public spaces and facilities of a larger building. However, for us the relaxed nature of the stay and friendly staff were exactly what we were after and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

"QUIET HOTEL, WITH ALL MOD CONS"
Donnahambleton, 31 Juillet 2016

We stayed here with a group of cyclists on our St Malo to Nice event. The rooms were comfortable and well-appointed, the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. The hotel is right by the river and in a relatively quiet area. We were only a short walk from the town centre, with its shops and restaurants. We'll definitely use the hotel again.

"Comfortable, good for touring"
NorfolkCommonMan, 21 Juillet 2016

Located on an island in the Loire river. The best parts of town are on the main bank, about 3/4 mile away. We used the hotel as a base for touring, so this didn't matter. We arrived on a Monday, so virtually all the restaurants were closed. We found a great place to eat - Bistrot Les Tontons. Really worth a visit, but booking essential.

"Great location in Saumur"
scarlet-7, 20 Juillet 2016

We stayed at the hotel overnight and would definitely recommend it. It was very easy to get to and there is parking outside or secure parking off road. The receptionist was lovely and showed us up to our room which was very comfy with a mini bar, view of the river, big bathroom and comfy bed. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but there are plenty of restaurants a short stroll along the road and over the bridge. The breakfast was very nice with plenty on offer in a large bright airy room.

"4 NIGHTS"
pubdog33, 11 Juillet 2016

This is always our preferred hotel when we come to Saumur. Lovely rooms, nice staff and parking. Mini bar in rooms, quiet. Central for the places we like to see in Rue St Nicholas. Another lovely 4 nights spent here.

"Nice Stay in Saumur"
tbfree, 01 Juillet 2016

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Saumur. The receptionists were excellent and helpful. Pros * Great location--on the island, close to the Gare and close to downtown, easy to find * Excellent restaurant next door that was highly recommended by receptionist, Le Bouche a Oreille, reservations required * Receptionists extremely helpful * Has elevator, air conditioning * Room had view of castle, lights up at night * Beds were comfortable, clean * Breakfast excellent with full spread of options * Pool table and computer for guests * Large garage, bike friendly

"Great hotel in Saumur"
Tony B, 27 Juin 2016

Adagio hotel is a great hotel, should be 4* not 3*. Great location on side of Loire River, very close to centre of surprisingly beautiful town. Good value. Rooms excellent, staff very good. Quite expensive breakfasts.

"A great hotel in a lovely location"
Cheryl R, 15 Juin 2016

We only spent one night in Saumur, but we were very pleased with our choice of hotel. We had a lovely room with a river view and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean with lots of well-thought out extras like tea/coffee making, hairdryer, shower products etc which aren't often provided in France. There's ample parking nearby and the main town is an easy and level walk across a pretty road bridge with stunning castle views. Highly recommended.

"Fabulous Hotel in the Loire River at Saumur"
David C, 14 Juin 2016

This hotel really is in the Loire as it is situated on an island in the middle of the river as it runs through Saumur. Saumur is one of the most beautiful cities in France and the Adagio lives up to its situation. If you are driving reserve parking at the hotel as it is a bit of a lottery parking otherwise, as in any city. There is no restaurant, but we ordered dinner in our room which was excellent. Spacious bathroom. Huge bed. All good.

"Excellent Hotel"
William L, 06 Juin 2016

This hotel has a huge bathroom, like an American Best Western and a larger than (French) average bedroom. In the room I felt like I was in an American hotel, except ESPN showed soccer and was in French. Parking was free on the street. Staff was very helpful; changing a lightbulb quickly and giving excellent advice for finding a gas station open during the refinery workers strike. I doubt I'll return to Saumer, but if I do, I will definitely stay at Adagio.

"Comfort, value and location"
Suzanne D, 18 Mai 2016

We have stayed at the Adagio twice now, for stays of 5 to 9 days. The rooms are nicely furnished and well maintained, the bathrooms are good. Rooms vary in size and price, but even the small ones for individual guests are good. There are different packages that include or don't include breakfast. Breakfast offers a good range of choices - fruit, juices, yogurt, excellent quality breads, pan chocolat and croissants from local bakers, cheeses and cold meats. The hotel has a bar and also offers a room service dinner. The quality of these meals is terrific - good home cooking but with some flair. The items are well chosen and cover 2 or 3 choices of fish, including crevettes, pasta, and beef Bourgogne. Vegetable accompaniments are fresh and not over cooked. The Adagio is in a good spot on Ile D'Offard, the island in the Liore river, and major roads leading to the major towns and chateaux are easily accessible. It doesn't have a view of the Saumur Chateau, but the Pont Cessart bridge that gives wonderful views of it and various church spires is only about 400 meters away. The staff are friendly and some have very good English.

"A great surprise"
Julian L, 03 Mai 2016

This is a wonderful hotel with caring owners and very professional staff. This was our second stay. The breakfast selection is wide and of very good quality. Our room was excellent as was the bed size and comfort. The hotel is well located and parking is easy out the front. The great surprise for us was the quality of the very reasonably priced meals available from room service. It was so good we dined in our room 3 times! For restaurant dining, there is an excellent place hidden in a side street just a few paces away: Auberge de la Reine de Sicile. I town La Comedie is of a similar standard.

"Hotel building impressive but no locked bike storage available."
TheBestMac, 06 Janvier 2016

Building was impressive but staff did not live up to expectations. We arrived by bike and asked about locked bike storage. We were told we could leave bikes in the garage and directed to a place that was signposted specifically for bikes. While gate to car park was locked, place where bikes were was easily accessible to anyone and a button opened gate form inside. It was beside a locked cage with bicycle stands in it. I asked to use the cage and was told it was not possible as cage was no longer used for bikes. Strange and unsettling. Room was nice. Breakfast was a little expensive but ok.

"October 24"
AndersEller, 24 Octobre 2015

Nice family room with one double bed and two singles. Third floor with nice view of Loire river. Obviously newly renovated. Clean. The shower could be a challenge for tall people as it was in a bathtub with a slanting ceiling. Still, really good value for money.

"great stay"
Ozgreynomad, 04 Octobre 2015

stayed 3 nights here our room was large well appointed great views of the river, its about a 10 minute leisurely walk across the bridge to pubs and restaurants parking is little tight and you pay for it about 21 euros in hind sight we could have parked on the street free.we can highly recommend the adagio its clean quiet and comfortable and a great base to work from

"Noisy, low quality... Stay elsewhere"
ranger22miami, 30 Septembre 2015

Not worth the money... Many better places to stay in the area. In a seemingly empty hotel, not sure why we were given a room next to the elevator and smack in front of a busy intersection. Got woken up at 5:30 by road noise and couldnt get back to sleep. Avoid.

"our six night stay"
bliscoe1, 28 Septembre 2015

this was a lovely hotel about 2 miles from the centre of the city, situated on an island. we were given a room overlooking the river, with French windows opening onto the view. The hotel had a small bar, and breakfast room, but not restaurant facilitys. But room service is available, and has a choice of dishes at reasonable prices. The desk team are friendly, and are concerned that you are happy with your stay at all points. there is a parking garage, but space is minimum. However, it is easy and safe to park in the streets nearby, which we did. there is a small business five doors or so, away from the hotel. run by two young men. Its a bar that sells lots of Belgium beer, and pizzas are freshly made to your taste at reasonable prices. It is called Pub House. And we found it a boon. I would recommend it to anyone. I must say we had an enjoyable stay.

"Excellent hotel in the right location at the right price!"
Hev185, 13 Septembre 2015

We booked at this hotel on spec when we arrived in Saumur, having had one good experience of a Best Western hotel earlier in our holiday. Very glad we did - it's not the most impressive of exteriors but inside was modern, clean and comfortable. They only had one room left and the receptionist showed it to us before we made a decision - they classed it as a "comfort" room and I believe the receptionist told us it only had a smallish bed in it, but we found it roomy enough for a couple (the bed AND the room, I mean!) and it had a very nice modern bathroom. Not sure if this is Best Western policy but the room rate was exclusive of breakfast for which we were charged an extra 25 euros but even with that the total rate was very competitive and we had no complaints. The hotel is on the Ile d'Offard on the River Loire which means you have to go over a bridge to get to it - it's therefore important that you remember *which* bridge you came over since there are bridges both sides of the island. It's only a short walk of 10 minutes or so (across the correct bridge!) to get into the medieval centre of Saumur where there are numerous eating places to suit most tastes. The views of the Chateau du Beaulieu and the other buildings of the town along the banks of the Loire are fantastic, especially at night - and we were lucky enough to get a room with a view at the Adagio. Give it a try - it looks a llittle anonymous from the street but don't judge a book by its cover.

"Great hotel and a great bar just up the street "
Peter B, 21 Août 2015

Stayed at that Adagio again this year. Very comfortable rooms with really good modern bathrooms. Staff on reception and throughout the hotel are very friendly. On our last night we discovered the Pub House just a few doors away on the walk into town. Really friendly server with excellent English made us feel really welcome. Fantastic selection of beers in bottles and 6 en pression and a good pizza and coffees to finish us off. Thought it deserved a mention.

"Excellent place to stay"
Chris B, 03 Août 2015

We stayed in this hotel on the way down from St. Malo to Bordeaux with our family of 2 adults and 2 children (8 & 11). Our family room was very spacious and comfortable and had tea and coffee making facilities. Everything was very clean, and the free wifi access was good and fast (fast enough for YouTube). Very close to restaurants (good creperie about 5 minutes walk that served food at 17:00 - excellent for the kids), and pizzeria just a couple of doors away from the hotel (open from 7:30). Use of the car park was fairly expensive at €7, but it was gated and secure. Overall a great find, and we'll be staying here again I'm sure.

"Nice hotel, good location to explore Saumur"
Qingwa, 29 Juillet 2015

We stayed at the Adagio for one night on our way to the South West of France from St. Malo. The hotel looks like it has been recently modernised. The staff were friendly and efficient. There were three of us and we had a room with 2 double beds: it was clean and well sized with a good ensuite bathroom. Breakfast, though additional to our room rate, was good, the food plentiful and restocked by the member of staff on a regular basis. Secure parking was available, but we parked on the side of the road by the hotel, which seemed fine. The hotel is on an island and it is a 5-10 minute walk over the bridge into the main part of the city where there are shops and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again. Oh...and free wifi !

"Great motorcycle tour stop over..secure parking..beautiful town."
Kevin1050, 21 Juillet 2015

Nice a/c rooms, views of the river, very clean, helpfull staff and a lovely area to visit, we eat out so cant comment on the food, the secure parking was great for motorcycles, might be tight for a large car. highly recommended.

"Why stay anywhere else?"
Richard O, 16 Juillet 2015

This is a wonderfully relaxing hotel, where everything is in order and the staff are effective, efficient and, above all, friendly. I would not stay anywhere else in Saumur and I recommend the hotel highly. The hotel is conveniently situated for the town centre which is about 5 minutes away and the breakfasts are particularly fine.

"Good hotel and location"
Philip C, 18 Avril 2015

Stayed one night while touring. Good clean hotel in good location, up to the usual Best Western standard. A very good selection buffet breakfast included in the rate. Parking in the street outside the hotel was free. Welcoming staff. I would certainly use again
