    « Great »

Superb value for money. Fastidiously clean and a great base to explore the beautiful town of Sarlat. Thoroughly recommended. The staff bend over backwards to make you feel welcome and were extremely helpful.

« Good hotel south of town centre. »

Fine, basic hotel with a nice pool (unheated in October). The decor in our section of the hotel was charming with wonderful fabric wall-covering and beautiful chintz covered chairs in the common areas. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The hotel was quiet and beds very comfortable.

« Quality Large Rooms Resonable Prices »

This is our third visit to BW le Renoir. They have handicap accessible rooms large in size to European standards. Locate a few blocks from the historic district and now with parking across the street this hotel is the place to stay in Sarlat. Book early since tour companies use this hotel. Breakfast is good. Staff is friendly and accommodating with Language only a slight problem.

« Clean rooms, prime location »

This Best Western-operated hotel features spacious, clean rooms with en suite bathrooms, a pool, a bar, and a generous breakfast each morning. It's located within walking distance of all of the key sights in Sarlat, a beautiful city. Parking is available in nearby lots, though we had luck finding spaces on the street just outside the hotel. The only downside is it's located on a busy corner, so the traffic noise can be an issue for some. Double-paned windows help.

    « Simple but nice! »

Hotel is simple but nice. Lovely breakfast, need to find your own parking, rooms are nothing fancy but pleasant. Caves and Castles outside of town, lovely old town square with shopping and restaurants in town, charming area. Staff and service was great.

« Disappointing, but the AC worked. »

This hotel was a disappointment. We booked the best room ? it faced the street and had a view of shuttered buildings across the way. There were a couple of things that were down right strange ? more than quirky. Our queen-size bed was a murphy bed ? it was set up as a bed when we arrived, but it was definitely a cabinet, and not comfortable. The large room was sparsely furnished with mismatching club chairs and the television sat on the refrigerator. The toilet was in a closet near the door ? the sink and tub were across the room 25 feet away past the bed. The hotel provided only wall-mounted squeeze bottle soap-no other amenities. The air conditioning kept the room comfortable but had a whine to it. The tub-douche was difficult to use. The hotel only provided coffee (instant) the day of arrival. They told me they considered it a ?welcome gift?. They left the tea kettle so we purchased our own instant coffee. The pool area was nice but the water was cold. The Wi-Fi worked reasonably well. There was a safe.

    « Nice place »

We stayed here one night on our travel to the south of France. Very clean, nicely decorated hotel. The staff are very helpful and accommodating...Benjamin will do anything for you! They were great about restaurant and site recommendations. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

« Nice place to stay »

Nice modern hotel close to good restaurants and downtown Sarlat. Helpful staff. Walk to town is about 25 minutes but direct to the downtown core where there is lots to see and do. Would definately stay there again.

« First time Best Western - we'll be back! »

We had a one night stay at Best Western - Sarlat, it was our first experience with this major chain motel, staff were professional & friendly as you would expect, room was reasonably well appointed, had rolldown shutters to elliminate street noise etc. There was no secure parking, but we were able to find a free park in a nearby street with no issues. Breakfast was busy (as was the hotel in general, with several coach tours staying there), but staff in the kitchen worked hard to clear tables & replenish food items. We were housed in what they call "The Villas" only thing might be an issue for some travellers is a steep spiral staircase appears to be the only access to rooms, a bit of a challenge with heavy bags, there is no lift in The Villas area.

« A very good place to stay »

We stayed there as a family of 5 during 3 night - very well located, 10 min walk from the old city. The staff is warm and helpful, do not hesitate asking their restaurant recommendation we were very glad by their advices and finally the room was large enough for the 5 of us. Worth the value.

« Close to the city center, well updated »

This hotel was well appointed with a clean room and a comfortable bed. Well worth the price. Only minor negative was only breakfast being offered. It would have been nice to have a dinner option after a day of touring.

« What you see is what you get...! »

We were hard pushed to find a hotel in Sarlat - more than a million visitors pass through this quaint little medieval town per year so that came as no surprise! We eventually found two rooms at the Best Western la Renoir. We had a superior double room looking down on the pool deck. The room was comfortable and clean and being a 3 star hotel, well appointed as any traveller would expect. No gowns and slippers though. I wish hoteliers will start realizing that English speaking guests are normally on holiday and certainly do not want to see CNN and BBC News as the only English channels! No chance to catch a movie or watch other entertainment programmes, only the same news over and over...Benjamin, the young receptionist does, well, everything! He bends backwards for the guests and then some! Breakfast is a continental affair and quite sufficient. Parking is a problem; there is none. One can park on the street or at a parking lot 500 m up the road. Easy to find parking on the street however. This is not the worlds greatest hotel nor does it pretend to be - if you want a clean, comfortable room go for it!

« Nice hotel, lovely staff »

A good hotel for a night or two, lovely beds and rooms, only let down by the single dispenser for shampoo or shower gel in the bathrooms . And the breakfast is so mean it's ridiculous, the express breakfast entitles you to the world's tiniest croissant and one cup of coffee, just mean spirited!

« Excellent Hotel in a Great Location »

We traveled in the Dordogne area the first week of November, not knowing that it was off-season. Many hotels, restaurants, shops, and points of interest were closed for the season. We found this hotel in the best location the visit the area. We stayed 3 nights in 3 different rooms because we kept returning each evening to spend the night. The hotel personnel were very friendly and helpful. The last morning we left the hotel to travel back to Limoges, Amelie gave us 2 suggestions of places to visit on our way, Colognes-la-Rouge and Turenne. Loved these two towns. We wouldn't have known about them without Amelie's suggestions.

« OK in the End »

Does not resemble the photos on the website. Not the best part of town but reasonably well located near the medieval center. Rooms are pretty large. Breakfast is decent for a reasonable surcharge. No on site parking but not too difficult to find on the adjacent street. Funky floor plan. Nothing happening in the bar. No English speaking channels on the tv. Good bed and shower.

« Comfortable and centrally situated »

This is a vey well appointed and comfortable hotel situated a few minutes walk from the old town with its busy Saturday morning market. Our room was spacious and clean and had excellent air conditioning which was good because it was 40°C for the weekend of our stay.A pity there is no restaurant at the hotel but there are many excellent ones close by. I would highly recommend Le Grand Bleu where we had a fantastic meal.

« Quiet Hotel, Qwirky Rooms Just South of the Town Center »

Only about a 5 minute walk from the old sector along the main street, this might be a good choice for a budget hotel. I can't speak for other rooms, but mine was at the very top in the attic. Though some upper floor rooms have a long window, mine only had a skylight. Don't leave it open when you leave if it's likely to rain! I thought the bath area to be a little sparse on toiletries but my bed was comfy. You can have breakfast here and there's a long bar for an evening drink. In addition to the in-room TV, there's a rather large screen one in the sitting room/breakfast area. Good for group viewing of CNN International if something's up while you're on holiday. There's an outdoor pool if it's warm enough, but not very good parking. Note that the door closes early so you might need your room key if you take an evening stroll into town or stop to see a movie down the street.

« Good location, handy to everything »

The room was bigger than expected. The hotel set up was a little strange as we were the only room on our floor (-1) and it felt like the room was an after thought or possibly use to be offices which were then retrofitted to be a hotel room as it was on road level which meant you had to keep the curtains shut as to ensure no one peeped in but it actually worked out well for us and our 10 month old as we didn't feel like we were disturbing anyone else. The staff were very accommodating and gave a great range of dinner options when asked. The hotel is only a short stroll to the village square which is full of character, places to eat and tourists. There is no designated parking so if you are driving be prepared to either park on the street or in the public car park just up the road.

« Great Hotel - Extended Our Stay! »

My wife and I were so pleased with this hotel and Sarlat that we extended our stay to 8 nights. The hotel staff is exceptionally good and they went out of their way to promptly resolve any issue to our complete satisfaction that we brought up. I reserved a larger Superior room on the top floor of the main building overlooking the swimming pool last January and that was exactly what was waiting for us upon our arrival. Our spacious room had plenty of furniture and the bed mattresses were very comfortable and we always slept well. Our room was also quiet with no noise coming into the room from the hallway, adjacent rooms or pool. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly with a strong signal on both my laptop PC and my wife's iPad. It was never a problem to find a parking place on the street right outside the hotel or around the corner. We were very satisfied with our stay at this fine hotel and highly recommend it.

    « Nice hotel & good location »

We have just enjoyed 7 nights here. On arrival, I was a little concerned that the immediate area didn't look like the Sarlat we'd seen on the Internet! However, a 5 minute walk soon sorted that! The hotel is fairly basic but very clean & the pool is lovely. We had room 18 which is a split level room, ideal for families. The air con was a great addition. My only suggestion to the hotel would be to provide an area for lunch. The hotel doesn't serve food (other than breakfast) & picnics/food is prohibited around the pool. Maybe the tables & chairs by the entrance could be used for lunch? We found lunch time a little tricky as we had no where to eat as there's no table or chairs in the rooms either which wasn't easy with two young children. We enjoyed popping to the local bakery for sandwiches & ended up having to eat them on our hotel room floor. This is just a suggestion & as mentioned above, we enjoyed this hotel but feel it would be better if a provision was made for eating lunch - perhaps the hotel could serve sandwiches? I hope this review helps.

« Excellent location in a beautiful town »

Hotel was very easy to find and only a couple of minutes walk to the pedestrianised old town centre. There is no car park for the hotel but we found plenty of parking on the streets, which was free. We had a large ground floor room with some noise from traffic but the fairly quiet air-conditioning does help to mask it. Breakfasts were plentiful and good. The staff were friendly and helpful and we would certainly use this hotel again.

« An oasis to return to each day »

Hotel is in two sections with a lovely swimming pool and small gardens forming a U shape between the two sections. We preferred to be in the Villa Section and had two spacious rooms each side by side and with their own door. There was also a further entrance that we could close off from the corridor and have both our rooms open so as we could converse with each other, or have privacy when we wanted. Very thoughtful of the hotel to do this for us. Rooms had excellent air conditioning that worked well. It was a heatwave of 35+ celsius every day and the aircon never let us down. Beds were comfortable and rooms, including bathrooms are very modern and bigger than the usual European room size. The hotel is a two minute walk to the pedestrian areas such as the Rue de La Republique, cafes and shops of Sarlat. We did not find the hotel noisy as some have mentioned and we always found a safe park on the street either right outside the hotel or within 200 metres away. All the parking was free. The pool is excellent and towels are provided. Pool chairs are comfortable and there are large umbrellas to shade under and the small garden creates a feeling of calm. We stayed 4 days and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to walk to the cafes and shops and to be able to easily drive out to the hill towns such as Domme, Beynac and the Chateau and Les Jardins de Marqueyssac and many other villages on the Dordogne river. There is so much to see and this hotel is a lovely oasis to return to each day. In the afternoons we lazed at the pool reading or taking the afternoon nap. There are tables and chairs outside near the pool and we enjoyed having drinks and snacks or playing cards there each evening before we went out to dinner. Sarlat itself provides a lot to do with its regular weekly market, choirs singing outside the church, other musicians in the squares such as the Place de la Liberte, lots of cafes to sit at and watch the world go by and the mazes of 'higgledy-piggledy' medieval streets to wander in. It's a very attractive town, beautifully restored with impressive buildings. Thank you for our lovely stay and the caring way we were looked after at the La Renoir.

    « Standard city hotel »

Close to the old town entrance. There are some public parking lot around the town but the hotel has no space of its own. Room is not spacious but wide enough to relax for 2 nights. Room is clean and well maintained. I intended to use laundry service and found a poly-bag for it. Put my stuff into the bag, bring it t the reception and ask to the staff. She said the hotel has no laundry service. I expected the service at Best Western and there is the laundry bag in the room. Very confusing and disappointed. Before we go out for old town, we get a map and ask the staff where to go & see. She make a circle all of the old town area saying everywhere in the tow is worth to visit. We find tourist information. Asked same question to a lady in charge. She marked 5 or 6 places immediately and explained each place briefly. I feel a little more education for the hotel staff.

    « Extremely noisy »

This hotel has extremely poor sound proofing between rooms and hence we could. hear people in the rooms above and beside us. We were woken at midnight as new guests had arrived and could not get into the hotel . Breakfast was good but the better quality food was served early when the tour groups were eating. The room we were in looked nothing like the one on the web site.

« Hotel Renoir Sarlat La Caneda »

Excellent hotel and great location highly recommended. No hotel parking but easy on street parking nearby and a free car park within 3 minutes walk from hotel. Excellent for exploring Sarlat as town centre 5 minutes stroll from hotel.
