"Great place to stay"

Great place to stay. Friendly people. Friendly staff. Nice rooms. Good location. Great breakfast. Nice pool/poolside bar. Beds were very comfortable. We will definatly stay here again in the future!!!

"great place to stay"

18/07/2018

We love staying at your hotel near Siesta Key. However, the brochure in the room states that you can get laundry soap at the front desk and they directed us to the machine in the laundry room where we paid $2.00 and got nothing in return. So, we went back to the desk and they simply reached under the counter and gave us the soap and told us that it was

"Great Bar With A Classic Florida Feel"

5
17/07/2018

Excellent Rooms and Parking. Nice Pool. Bar downstairs open until 10. Our Bartender Nyck was the best part! Kind and Funny. Turned our Beach Weekend into a party! We'll be back for sure. Thank you! :)

"Siesta Key staycation"

16/07/2018

Arrived earlier than check in time was greeted by front desk staff Tami who was amazing. She was very accommodating. She answered all of my questions and went over and beyond to several small request asked of her. When I travel back to Siesta Key I will stay at this hotel just because of how accommodating they were. They met my family and I needs and that goes a long way when choosing a place to stay.

"Comfortable"

15/07/2018

Had a great stay at the Best Western Siesta Key Gateway during the Independence Day week. The room was clean, comfortable and in good condition. The price was also reasonable, especially during the Independence day week. As usual the continental breakfast was excellent.

"Satisfied"

13/07/2018

This place is very nice, very clean, the staff are very professional and friendly, the breakfast was very good offering lots of selection and continuously restocked, a free shuttle to the beach, and very reasonable rates. You can't go wrong staying here.

"Very disappointed"

2
07/07/2018

First off the hotel lied to me about price when I booked it was much lower than when I went to check in. The clerk was rude about it when I questioned the price. The front door was broken so had to go through side door every time. The room was ok. But not worth the price. Very little parking. Supposed to have free shuttle to beach. The rude drivers expected tips when they were not nice or friendly. I will never stay at this place again

"Awesome hotel close to Siesta Beach"

5
29/06/2018

We loved our stay. Where to begin...really good free WiFi, wonderful beds, so clean, beautiful pool/bar/hot tub...great location, next to nice restaurants, CVS, delicious Abel's ice cream...breakfast was superb, and front desk people, amazingly helpful...Popcorn and coffee all the time, and cookies at 4...And Siesta Beach is right across the bridge. And the price is less than half of most hotels there...So happy with our stay and will definitely be back...

"Everything was very good"

21/06/2018

The staff at the deskwere helpful even when it was very busy. They also quickly answered the phone and again were helpful. The breakfast was good with a lot of variety: meat, eggs, breads, muffins, yogurts, pancakes, hash browns, cereals, milk and juices. The room was clean and supplied well. Nice pool. Ate twice in the restaurant, Gecko's. Also food stores, Walgreens, Ross, Marshalls in walking distance.

Thank you so much for your 5 star review! I are so happy to see that you had such a great time. I will be sharing your review with all of our staff including our breakfast attendants. They have been changing up a lot that we offer on our Hot Buffet Breakfast. They will be delighted to see that it is appreciated.

"10 minutes to beach"

4
19/06/2018

The hotel was pretty good, although the room felt a bit small. We had a microwave and fridge which was great. The breakfast was nice! Lots of choices of hot foods, which changed a bit day by day. There were also plenty of choices of non-hot foods. They also had fresh popped popcorn available throughout the day as well as coffee and tea, which was a nice touch. The hotel is about 10 minutes from Siesta Key beach and Turtle beach. It's also about 30 minutes away from Lido beach. The pool at the hotel was very nice, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay!

We thank you for your review and kind words about our property. We love to see when our guest enjoy their stay. We hope to see you again!

"Father's Day"

4
19/06/2018

We were celebrating Father's Day in the area. The hotel is walking distance to Siesta Key beach along a major road but there is a free shuttle, bus and bicycles available for use. There are many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The pool was inviting but there were guests playing a ball game in the pool so we didn't use it. Breakfast was adequate; we didn't use the bar. The room was clean and the TV was great. The AC struggled to cool the room in the 95F heat.

"Great Time in Siesta Key"

4
19/06/2018

We had a king room on the 2nd floor. The room was clean and comfortable although it was not cleaned for one of the nights we stayed which was a little disappointing. Parking was no problem and the pool was also well kept and clean. Hotel is close to shops and restaurants and there is a cool sports bar next door with good food. The only negative is that we wanted to extend our stay and when we asked Candy in reception, she told us to come back the next morning and she gave us a rate. However when we went back the next day, the guy on reception told us that we couldn't have the rate that Candy had already told us and said we would have to book it on-line, which seemed slightly ridiculous to us. The same guy also gave us very little information when checking in,,,did not find him very helpful although all other staff were great and really friendly. Would recommend the hotel to anyone staying in the area.

"GoodSiesta Key location & Convenient to All Restaurants"

4
18/06/2018

Centrally located, about 10 miles from Siesta Key Beach-best on west coast of FL. Busy place during winter months with advance reservations a must. Neat pool&adjoining bar with “Happy Hour” pricing, early evening hours.

"Positives and Negatives"

4
12/06/2018

Your staff is second to none! Your breakfasts have great choices. Coffee could be better. Your beds, however need to be replaced. They are lumpy and can feel springs. Tyler at the front desk is excellent and hospitable. All your staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Might consider having the live music turn down the volume a notch or two for closeby rooms

"The Kirkendall's trip"

5
12/06/2018

The staff was very friendly and went above &beyond their jobs. The bartender ( Katrina ) was also enjoyable & treated the guest as if she had known all of her life. Great job to each and everyone of the staff

"Very Pleasant Motel"

4
09/06/2018

Not one of the cheapest motels in the area but we really liked it here. Only stayed for the one night as just passing through on the way to Orlando from Key West. Very nice bar and swimming pool area although you can't charge your drinks to your room. Comfortably outside sofas and chairs by bar are a really nice touch. Room was clean, tidy, comfortable, no complaints, Reception offered complimentary popcorn, cookies and hot drinks upon arrival. Car parking was free and plenty of it.

"nice hotel"

07/06/2018

My husband and I stayed here over memorial day weekend. Overall- it was a nice hotel. The free breakfast was actually good with alot of selection. The pool area was very nice and the bar during the weekend was a nice touch. We would definitely stay again.

This hotel has been recently renovated. Nice pool area with hot tub. Good breakfast. Very close to siesta key beaches and close to shopping. Several restaurants within walking distance. The hotel also offers free rides through the key till 2am (they work for tips only). All rooms are exterior doors so as long as you don't mind that you will like this hotel. We will stay here on our next trip.

The location was so convenient to the beach and a ton of restaurants. Staff was very friendly and rooms were extremely clean! The breakfast was the best! The first hotel we've stayed at that had sausage, bacon, biscuits & gravy and hash browns! plus a ton of other things!

They also heve a cool pool bar called the Sand Dollar pool bar! Great prices and munchies to go with your cocktails!! The grounds are very well taken care of and the swimming pool sparkles!

"Old School"

26/05/2018

This hotel is different than most other Best Westerns in that the doors of this property are facing outside the hotel which allows guests to smoke and loiter outside their rooms. I did not notice this upon booking this hotel, guess I was too distracted by the nice LED lights of the exterior entrance in the photo.

Jennifer B, Front Office Manager at Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to review our property. Yes we do have exterior corridors, but we are a 100% smoke free property. We have a designated smoking area that is away from the rooms and pool where our guests are directed to smoke. I'm sorry if this was not the case during your stay. I will be sure to bring this review to the attention of our staff to ensure that guests are directed to the proper area to smoke. Also we try to ensure our guests are happy and if there were noise issues that were reported to the desk, the issue would have been resolved. There is someone on staff 24 hours a day to ensure our guests comfort. We hope you will return in the future to allow us the opportunity to provide you with a better experience. Thanks so much for staying with us.

"Great place at an affordable price"

24/05/2018

My sister and I stayed here for 4 nights as a girls getaway trip. We had a wonderful time here. The hotel is close to everything. There's a restaurant right across the parking lot if you don't feel like driving. It is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Our room had a good sized refrigerator in it and a microwave. Also a safe for your valuables. There's a pool, hot tub, fireplace, and bar where they have happy hour with entertainment in the afternoon. The hotel's complimentary breakfast is one of the best I've seen, with a large variety of good food, not just your usual yogurt, cereal and muffins, but breakfast sandwiches, waffles & pancakes, sausages, bacon, cheese omelettes. There's also a shuttle available to get to nearby locations. I'd definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

very friendly and helpful staff at the reception, hotel and rooms in good condition, ample and free parking, pool and surrounding area very nice, afternoon cookies, popcorn and coffee a nice service, hotel is not far from the outstanding Siesta Key beaches with large and free parking areas, there is also a free shuttle available, lots of good restaurants nearby, please do not leave anything on your bed (e.g.pyjamas) because then it will not be made, breakfast rather moderate

Jennifer B, Front Office Manager at Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We're pleased you enjoyed your stay and the amenities we have to offer. I'm not quite sure why you would only give us a 1 star on your review though. It is our policy not to move any personal items that a guest leaves in a room and I apologize for any misunderstanding this may have caused. We hope you'll come see us again in the future. Thank you so much for staying with us!

"Housekeeping Fail!"

2
02/05/2018

Overall, the grounds are well kept and the front desk staff is friendly and accommodating, but the housekeeping staff need some training or retraining on how to stock a room and respond to guest requests. Each day there would be fewer and fewer drinking cups and coffee cups left in the rooms, necessitating a trip to the front desk. The last night we were there, we came back to the room around 8 p.m. to find zero drinking cups and no kleenex, even though the container was clearly empty. I left what I thought was a decent tip on the bed as a tip the first morning, but after finding less than satisfactory service I stopped leaving a tip, thinking it might get someone's attention. There are too many choices of hotels in the area to have to put up with that.

Jennifer B, Front Office Manager at Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I would like to sincerely apologize for the housekeeping mishaps you experienced during your stay. I will be sure to bring this review to the attention of our housekeeping staff to ensure this does not happen again. We hope you will return and provide us with the opportunity to serve you better in the future. Thanks so much for staying with us.

"Very Functional"

02/05/2018

We stayed one night in this hotel, my wife my adult daughter and myself. We checked in and were given a coupon for a BOGO drink at the bar. We went to use our coupon only to find out it was only BOGO on draft beer and house wine. Oh Well! I was surprised that the big event in Siesta Key was Siesta Fiesta, an annual art festival, but nobody at the front desk knew where it was. The hotel is very Unitarian, plenty of outlets, adequate amount of towels The breakfast had something new for me; automatic pancake machine replacing the waffle making machine. All I can say is bring back the waffles as the pancakes feel like rubber. Everything else was fine.

Jennifer B, Front Office Manager at Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our property. We're so pleased you enjoyed your time with us. I'm terribly sorry you were unhappy with the pancake machine at breakfast and that there was a misunderstanding about the BOGO for beer and wine at the bar. I will be sure to bring this review to the attention of our food and beverage manager and also make it a point to speak with the front desk staff about explaining the coupon better as well as providing information on events. Thanks so much for staying with us and we look forward to seeing you in the future.

"This is a very nice place to stay. "

01/05/2018

I read many reviews on this place and will say first off that I never got bitten by anything. No bed bugs or sand fleas or Bigfoot's or anything. The place is a bit dated but they make up for it in cleanliness. The staff was very friendly. Jason and Bethany at the pool bar were great. The singer at the pool was also very good. Think his name was Mike. We stayed for three nights. I did read in a previous review about the garbage trucks being noisy on the parking lot side. They showed up every morning at around 8:30. Yes it was loud and you could hear it but only for like a minute then they left. It's actually across the parking lot and not on hotel property so there is not much the hotel can do about it. The popcorn and cookies were a nice touch and available at all time. The breakfast was better than average. The pool is beautiful and warm. If I could pick on anything it would be the Jonny's free rides associated with the hotel. We called for a ride back from Siesta village and I had forgotten something at the beach. The driver showed up and my wife said I would be right back. I literally got back like three minutes after he showed up. Instead of waiting he told my wife he wasn't waiting and scolded her by saying “next time be prepared”. Now I admit it was my fault that I forgot and made them wait but the guy was a real dick to my wife which I didn't appreciate in the least. I am including this in the review because my driver told me Jonny's is owned by the hotel. But, don't let this dissuade you from staying here. It's a cool place in a great location.

Jennifer B, Front Office Manager at Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our property. We're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel. I'm terribly sorry about the issue you experienced with the Jonny's Ride driver and will be sure to bring this to the attention of their manager, which is a separate company from the hotel itself. We look forward to seeing you in the future. Thank you for staying with us!

"Awesome property!"

27/04/2018

You'd never know this oasis is in the middle of a parking lot. This hotel was awesome- big rooms, excellent breakfast and beautiful pool, pool bar and lounge area. Staff was wonderful as well! Wish we could have stayed longer, but will surely book here if we ever return to the area.

"Darrell NIelsen Stay at Best western"

20/04/2018

The only problem was I never received a confirmation email regarding check-in. Which was not a big deal I just called the hotel and confirmed. The hotel employee I spoke with on the phone (older white woman) was extremely helpful with ensuring that I was confirmed and reserved for check-in. She defiantly deserves some recognition for her care and assistance. Please advertise your App If I would have known there was a hotel app I would have just used that instead. I only heard of it after taking this survey. I have already booked a return stay in October because our stay was so pleasant. Thank you for the great experience. You will be earning some stars on hotels.com, kayak and google hotel search from me.

Loved my experience at this best western, definitely would stay at this location again. Staff is friendly, room is clean, breakfast included with stay, and a lovely pool and lounging area. It's about a 5 minute drive to the beach, but totally recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great location and comfortable. Dining and shopping in very close proximity. Pool area and bar relaxing. Housekeeping could be improved. Our room was not serviced last all one day and we had to chase up on another two. Standard of cleaning was a little below par.

Wonderful place close to siesta key beach and the free shuttle service was really neat thing they offered also. The rooms was super clean and friendly staff. Live music by pool on Saturday evening and small bar there also to enjoy a drink if you like.

"Short trip to Siesta Key"

5
09/04/2018

This hotel is a great value for how close it is to Siesta Key. We came for a short trip, the pool area/Tiki Bar was great, as was the free popcorn! But, the best part of our stay was the free shuttle (tips only) to beautiful Siesta Key. We took this shuttle quite a few times, and had Curt as our driver for our first trip to the Village. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area...we then requested him for our future rides around the area! Our other service from the staff was great as well, but Curt's suggestions and tips for what to see and do in the area definitely helped us maximize our short time there. We will be asking for him next time!

"Quick visit"

Hotel could be cleaner. All windows and glass doors in lobby and all ground floor very dirty. Overall, not a clean feel to the establishment. Would have enjoyed boiled eggs instead of this ready-mix egg-like concoction.

04/04/2018

This was a clean, comfortable hotel that was very convenient to the beach via shuttle buses - it was also walking distance to several decent restaurants and an excellent ice cream shop. We really liked the pool area, which had an area with very comfortable outdoor furniture around a fire pit and a small bar area. Free popcorn was prepared daily.

"OK, but disappointed"

I was so hoping that this hotel - a Best Western Plus - would be slightly better than a regular Best Western. Unfortunately, it wasn't. It was more like a standard motel room. First off, the room was small. We couldn't walk to the bathroom without bumping into either the bed or the desk. With three of us in the room, the very narrow pathway made getting through to the sink and toilet very challenging. For families, you should be aware that all the rooms opened to the outside. There was no interior corridor, which made me feel less secure. Anyone off the street could go to any of the rooms without going through the hotel lobby. Also, the walls were incredibly thin. Our next door neighbors were up past 2am one night laughing, talking, watching TV and being a bit rowdy. We could hear everything that was going on and it awoke me from my sleep. More troubling, the hotel was unable to provide towels for all its guests. There were NO towels at the pool several times throughout our five-night stay. The front desk staff said they didn't have enough towels for all the rooms to get them at the time housekeeping came to clean the room and they were working hard to wash and dry towels as fast as they could. Not enough towels for all the rooms? Hardly a "plus", More like a "minus" if you ask me. Oh, and we didn't even get housekeeping to come one of the days we were there. When I called the front desk about it at 5:30pm, they said the housekeeping had gone for the day and there was nothing they could do about it. The hotel advertises a free shuttle to Siesta Key, but it didn't really work very well. Each run could only accommodate six people. We wanted to get on the 10am shuttle, but that was already full. The next one at 11am was also full, which means we would have had to wait two hours to get on the next available shuttle. That didn't work for us. When we did use the shuttle, it took a half-hour to 45 mins. to go two miles because traffic was atrocious. I understand the barrier island was overly crowded the week we were there, which is not anyone's fault. However, I believe the hotel should have tried to make additional arrangements to fulfill its advertised services when it looked like their occupancy was going to be at capacity. We also tried using the shuttle to go to Siesta Key Village one evening for dinner. After 5:30pm, you just have to call a half-hour in advance and a driver will come and get you. Unfortunately for us, I couldn't even get someone at the shuttle company to pick up the phone to take our request. Again, it was sooooo crowded everywhere that the shuttle service couldn't keep up. There are usually only two drivers servicing the area. They had a third to help keep up with demand, but even that was inadequate. We encountered just one very nice front desk employee - Nina - who was incredibly helpful with directions, suggestions for alternate beaches and restaurant recommendations. The others always seemed bothered to be interrupted by guests' questions. As a result of my experience, I would not recommend returning to this Best Western Plus hotel. It was definitely not a "plus".

Dear lovestraveling2011 - Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I do wish to address a couple of your comments, however. It is not that we did not have enough towels for our guests - that is not what transpired. The shortage was due to the inability of performance on behalf of a housekeeping subcontractor. We have done our best to apologize to each and every guest that had been affected over the last 3 days but unfortunately, have not had the opportunity to reach everyone. You will see a certificate for a complimentary stay or rewards points if you are a member, via email from us as we work hard to correct the problems they have left behind. The shuttle service, however, is a different issue entirely. As you stated above, this is an extremely busy time of the year - traffic is horrendous and getting anywhere is difficult. Your words pretty much stated in your review. So how in the world could we possibly provide better service if the traffic is atrocious? We run 3 vehicles in busy times - this certainly addresses the problem and did do so during your stay - but one vehicle with more capacity would have had the same struggles that the three vehicles did.

Best Western Siesta Key was a very expensive disappointment, probably my worst hotel stay for a vacation...So many other wonderful places to stay for 230$ a night.....location was between two parking lots and large intersections.. in a sad little strip mall .....building was sooo dated.... traffic always constant/ breakfast was horrible, I'm pretty sure the scrambled eggs weren't composed of just eggs but a filler of some kind....English muffins were so stale we threw away.. and everyday breakfast was an equal disappointment...found things in room drawers that were there for god knows how long... rooms themselves incredibly dark and cramped...I found myself trying to stay gone from hotel as long as possible to at least capture some sorta vacation feel- all that said- the staff was nice and efficient ... hotel just not a place you want to be unless everything else is sold out...very depressing atmosphere for a beach vacation especially if your picking this over others for breakfast or best western standard norm because it's not... and definitely not worth 230$ a night- very hard earned money and family time wasted

SiestaHotelMgr, Owner at Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Dear Nicole E - Your review is certainly unlike so many others we have but sounds as if you have never been to or near Siesta Key where the rates are some $300+ per night without anything included - not even breakfast. Our scrambled eggs are actually real; fresh fruit, freshly made pancakes, yogurt bar with all the fixings, cereals, gluten free choices, bacon, freshly made Danish, etc., etc., does not reflect your review of the breakfast that is complimentary to you nor does your breakfast review mimic others who have stayed with us recently. We are not sandwiched within a strip mall - we are surrounded by 4 restaurants that are within walking distance including Ruth's Chris with a shopping mall with a Publix across the street. We are under a mile from Siesta Key Beach. Although we cannot please everyone, what always disappoints all of us is a guest who inappropriately paints a picture of a hotel property, with a full service poolside bar, live music, free shuttle, free popcorn in the lobby all day as something different because of the ability to hide behind a pen writing the review.

"Good value close to beach"

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was good place. Has basics. Clean, safe and practical. What you want in a mid level hotel. Has nice pool and hot tub. Make no mistake this is not on the beach but it's like a mile away. Looking to save a couple bucks this is your place. Free breakfast is good.

We picked this hotel because it seemed to offer good value for money compared to hotels nearer the beaches, despite its somewhat drab location surrounded by shopping malls and parking lots. If you don't mind the unromantic location and the lack of a view, it make an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. There was ample and easy parking, the staff were unfailingly cheerful and helpful, and the small pool was a good temperature, with a hot tub close by. Breakfast was good and plentiful, and we got the impression the hotel was trying hard to please - popcorn, cookies, coffee machines, free taxi shuttle service, laundry and ironing facilities were all appreciated. There is a good range of restaurants within easy walking distance. On the downside, the bedroom was small, with a particularly cramped bathroom area, and very little storage space. The decor was very tired and dated and the housekeeping was a bit erratic (sometimes lots of towels, sometimes none, sometimes waste bin emptied, sometimes not, sometimes used coffee cups replaced, sometimes not) . The pool bar only served drinks in plastic glasses, and the only wine they had was rather nasty, so we preferred to go elsewhere for drinks. However, as long as you regard this as a reasonably well-appointed motel and not a resort hotel, we felt it provided a convenient place to sleep and very good value for money.

"A comfortable stop in Sarasota"

21/03/2018

Best Western tends to offer a consistent high quality accommodation at a reasonable price and this location was no exception. Friendly staff, clean rooms and a nice swimming pool. Breakfast was pretty extensive. The hotel is not far from the Interstate and although it is directly on the Tamiami Trail there was no noise issue. The location offers a wide selection of dining choices and is only 15 minutes from downtown Sarasota.

"Tiki Bar, Pool & Location"

21/03/2018

This hotel is where we like to stay when visiting Sarasota/Siesta Key. It isn't fancy, but it is clean, decently priced, offers a pretty good/included breakfast, is in a great location (nice walk to the beach and lots of dining options close), adequate rooms, but best of all - an awesome pool and tiki bar (including happy hour and entertainment on the weekends). It appears to have been an old style motel (outside room access) which was upgraded - they did as much as possible with the original layout to make it a worthwhile lodging option.

We had a very pleasant experience made possible by a very capable staff, especially Katrina, Patti and Tyler. The availability of the popcorn and cookies was appreciated. The pool area was very inviting. We especially enjoyed the fire pit.

"Location convenient to Siesta Key Beach!"

16/03/2018

The location is good for getting to the beach, and there is a restaurant within walking distance which is nice. The room needs updating...has an old, tired look. Breakfast is included, but the overall cost of the room is pricey for the quality.

14/03/2018

Booked this very late but got a great room on the third floor very quiet clean and private. Candy was extremely helpful in the booking process and got me to join the rewards program. The staff is extremely friendly especially Ebony from housekeeping and all the other housekeeping girls. The two guys in maintenance are just fantastic and extremely helpful and courteous. Clean comfortable room with excellent view of the pool. Workout facility is fantastic and free shuttle to see Siesta multiple times a day is extremely helpful. I highly recommend the staff, facility and location! Jim Canino

"Horrible Stay Never Again"

14/03/2018

Urine around the base of the toilet at arrival and never cleaned our room until 4:30 P.M. the next day! We were going to stay 4 nights and checked out after the 2nd night and checked into a different hotel - NEVER AGAIN!

"Awful stay! Horrible, rude managers !"

2
06/03/2018

Had to wait almost 3 hours to get checked into our room. Didn't get in until 5:50, after calling to check in at 12:20 and was given a room number! That night discovered the toilet was broken, wouldn't flush, no water in tank ! Called front desk, they said there was no maintenance staff on duty in the evening, they said I had to wait till morning to get fixed or they could put us in the only available room which was on the first floor, noisy side of the building. I had paid for a poolside, upper floor room, and we were unpacked and settled in for the night. Very inconvenient and not what I had paid for. Ended up having to fill the waste paper basket with water to flush toilet.... not fun !! The following day housekeeping never cleaned the room, I made sure the “do not disturb” sign was NOT on the door, ( we were in and out a few times that day so I know the sign was not on the door. ) At 8:15 after dinner when we saw it still hadn't been cleaned, I went down to front desk to let them know and requested clean towels and washcloths be brought up, they never were ! The next day after breakfast I complained to the front desk manager, who reluctantly said she would take off the first night from my bill, when I checked out I saw she had NOT removed the charge, she gave me $50 off a $209/ night room ! When I asked to speak with her I was told she was not available and would call me later, which she never did. When I tried calling back, she would not take my call. Tried calling the general manager, she also would not take my call. I called the corporate office to complain, they notified the hotel and spoke to the general manager. She told them I was never told by the front desk manager that I'd get the room comped, and that I had a “do not disturb” on my door which is why it wasn't cleaned ! If that were true the woman at the front desk would've told me that there was a do not disturb on my door when I went down to let her know the room hadn't been cleaned. All blatant lies ! We have stayed at that hotel for the past 5 years, but after the way we were treated this last time, we will not be returning ! The only good part of the stay was the breakfast and the swimming pool, the rest was just nasty....like the management!!

Dearest Pepina M - Although we generally appreciate valued feedback from guests who are forthcoming and who are genuine and truthful, whether it is positive or negative, I must take the time to point out that you are no longer considered to be a valued guest. Why? Because during the time you stay with us, every time, your modus operandi is to find something, anything that is inappropriate to obtain a refund, even if it requires you to lie. This time, however, we played your game and although we agreed to refund you $100, (we've refunded much more over the years and awarded thousands of rewards points) you didn't deserve to receive anything in my opinion for your obnoxious behavior and continuous harassment to all of my staff, including the front desk and General Manager. I will not waste my time addressing every one of your fallacies that you list as supposed issues you had since it would take too much of my valuable time. Suffice it to say, you have now been asked for the 2nd year in a row to not return to our property and we have advised Best Western of same. Your bragging to others at our poolside bar that you were able to obtain a complimentary rental car due to your ongoing abrasiveness only supports our decision further. Please do not return to this property as you will be faced with the inability to stay.

Enjoyed our 3 day stay. Very friendly staff. Every person we ran into during our stay was very friendly greeting us each time. Awesome breakfast, different main dish all 3 days. Check in was smooth and very accomadating. Free Johnnys taxi takes a very long time sometimes as the drivers are not only picking up and dropping people off but they are also personally taking all their reservation and pickup calls while driving as they have no dispatchers retrieving these calls. Both drivers we had were wonderful and friendly but their multitasking was unexpected

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. Service excellent, staff very friendly. Rooms and beds were comfortable. Cleanliness excellent. We had an issue with the toilet and it was sorted straight away. There is a shuttle service into the town which is brilliant. Quite a few restaurants within walking distance. The only thing I could fault was the breakfast. Needs re thinking. Overall a pleasant stay.

We stayed here for one night at the end of January. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful at check in. Our room was dated and in need of an update but clean and the wonderful pool area and location makes up for it. Parking was hard to find so it must have been sold out and the clientele were mainly older folks. Free breakfast in the morning was a nice touch. They were doing construction on the second floor and it was noisy throughout the day which would be bothersome if you were relaxing poolside, seemed that guests were unaware that this would be happening during their stay, unsure if it was disclosed or not. Would recommend as we wanted a truly heated pool during the winter months and its proximity to our favorite restaurants and the beach,

L C - Thank you for your review and comments. This hotel property has been through many upgrades and renovations. All guest rooms have been completely refurbished and refinished in the last 5 years from carpet to furnishings. We have signage posted at the front desk and online at our site addressing our ongoing renovations and upgrades that take place during the day when most of our guests are at the beach or elsewhere during their visit. Another example of our commitment to a better experience for our guests. We hope to host you again in the future.

We stayed two nights while exploring Sarasota and Siesta Key, “USA #1 Beach.” The restaurant next door was recommended to us by the hotel staff and was excellent. I used the exercise room which had a treadmill, stationary bike, several pairs of free weights, and more. The WiFi worked without a hitch and the breakfast included hot and cold items. Coffee is available all the time. Be sure to check out the pool area with its outside bar — really nice! Staff was friendly and very helpful with suggestions and recommendations. Would definitely go back!

Hotel is clean and comfy. Breakfast was the usual, but the food area was very clean and well maintained by the attendant. Unfortunately for us, the weather was unusually cold but the heater worked great and was easy to adjust. The only issue I had was that we were on the far end of the building near the dumpster and it was a little noisy one morning when the truck came to empty it.... otherwise, it is nicely located and the Key is just over the bridge !

This is a nice hotel within 15 minutes of the beach (Lido). Excellent pool and poolside bar and all the other amenities one would expect to find. I had a couple of minor problems that staff responded to and corrected very quickly. This was my third stay at the Siesta Key property and I'll be back.

"Siesta Key Gateway Best Western"

17/01/2018

Our room accommodations were excellent, and elevators front and back made access to upper story rooms easy. A poolside bar open until 10 pm daily was a definite plus, and the pool was large with a spacious deck. There is plenty of convenient parking, but if you are new to the area, the location is rather difficult to find at first, as the hotel signage is not very prominent, and the rear entrance can be made only from one lane in the surrounding streets. The breakfast area was small for a facility of this size, making sharing of tables a necessity at peak times. The quality of the breakfast menu left something to be desired. Overall, if you are looking for a nice reasonably priced accommodation close to Siesta Key, this is a place to definitely consider.

"It's the details that make the stay"

09/01/2018

In my experience, it's the little things guests might not notice that make a hotel pleasant. These things show whether the hotel management or owners are thinking long term, making it better for the guests, seeking return bookings and referrals. This place has lots of those little touches that show their interest in their guests. Just a few:. Outdoor carpet squares in the exterior hallways (no annoying peeling paint and dirt, or dirty feet), drains from the a/c units to the first level, where it flows to the plants outside, trays under the refrigerators (none of that annoying splintered wood on the bottom edge of the furniture below the fridge), beautiful pool, pool area and pool bar, tasteful breakfast room with a fountain and landscaped view and, most important, trained and pleasant staff (not just front desk but cleaning, breakfast and maintenance crews). The maintenance folks make prompt repairs and leave you receipt that they made the repair, so you don't have to guess if they fixed the problem. These are the things that make guests' stay pleasant, but which they may not notice. I may notice these things more than many guests, having been involved in hotel construction. On behalf of all of your guests, my complements!

We were given a coupon upon check in for 2for 1 wine or beer at the bar. Had 2rounds of really crappy wine (2 glasses each) and the tab was $16! Small plastic glasses of cheap wine. Bartender was nice though. We are Platinum members and asked for upgrade at check in. Were told none available but the parking lot was empty. Even by evening the hotel was far from full. That was disappointing.

07/01/2018

Ok so this is a decent hotel, it makes a couple of silly mistakes though that could easily be rectified. The location is great, plenty of free parking, check in was good and the room large enough, although a little dated, especially the bathroom. The bed was comfy and there is a good sized fridge and microwave in the room. Staff seemed good, there was a popcorn machine in the lobby which was well used. The pool was lovely as was the hot tub. We stayed at Christmas and although the room servicing on the first 3 nights was great, from Christmas Day onwards it deteriorated to no cups been left for warm or cold drinks and no shampoo, plus they left it really late to clean the room. The pool offered a bar with a happy hour, 3pm to 7pm. We utilised this only to find you couldn't pay cash, it had to be credit. $5 on a credit card...c'mon, we get charged foreign currency conversion fees. And so to the worst point- breakfast. Yes it's free. Be early because the one person that's running it doesn't refill at any kind of speed. We stopped for 6 nights, the first day we had bacon. The rest of the time it was sausage, egg and biscuits with sausage gravy. There was fruit in the fridge, however it ran out regularly and was rarely replenished. The muffins ran out, the milk ran out and the coffee ran out. There was an older guy one day and an older lady who's operating speed was around that of a mobility scooter. Be there early before 9am or go hungry. Kudos for the free late check out, this is a BW Plus hotel and we have stopped in BW a number of times. Some attention to detail on the points above would improve the service no end and guarantee return business.

It is hard to fined a reasonable priced hotel in this area, but this one is it. Every one on staff was friendly and as a plus they have a great bartender. GREAT PLACE GREAT DEAL. Since this has to be 200 words I will share that we had family staying at a resort in Siesta village. They paid over 250.00 per night. Unit looked like a public housing unit. I think they wished they had stayed here.

03/01/2018

I have stayed on this property for the last several years as a trip to visit family. This may be our last year. I didn't notice much when we checked in after a day of traveling until I showered this morning. Long black hairs were left in the shower. I decided to overlook it. However, when I came back this evening I was surprised that the beds were not completely made. Ok. I can overlook that. Then towels were not replenished. Fine, I have enough for tomorrow. But then I found a bunch of someone else's garbage under the bed. Unacceptable. When I went to let the front desk know, they offered to swap rooms for me. They gave me keys that did not work. I'm glad that we are checking out tomorrow.

21/12/2017

I stayed 4 nights the first week of December. I did not see any pests of any kind. I was disappointed to find it is an exterior door hotel/motel, I prefer inside hallways for security and privacy, although I must add that the area seems to be quite safe at any hour. My room wasn't made up on day one upon my 5 pm return. I did post "do not disturb" until 10ish am so perhaps that was my fault. Room service did knock around 5:30 and offer to make my room up. I declined and just asked for a couple towels. My room was nice and clean every other day even when I returned mid afternoon. I forgot to pack my swimming trunks and was pleased to find a discount shop next door. I was pleased to find how close it is to the beach, a supermarket, a lot of places to eat and drink, (many within a very short walking distance) a lot of shopping options. I enjoyed the bargain drinks poolside offer. I didn't use the bicycles available for guests or the FREE Johnny Cab service.(tips only) Breakfast was fresh and enjoyable. The menu varied somewhat day to day and was constantly attended to. The mini cheese omelets were my favorite as was the tons of bacon. I didn't try the pancake machine but they looked great. Free local newspapers and USA Today at the desk. I will absolutely stay here again. The staff was polite, friendly and helpful.

"Why did no one mention the noise?"

3
20/12/2017

I was surprised that more reviews did not mention the constant noise - all night long if you had a room facing the car park The noise from the extractors from the restaurant opposite was very loud and could even be heard when using ear plugs! Apart from that the room was very clean and the location (apart from the noise) was good The pool and pool bar (along with the lady behind the bar) was great but due to the noise level I will not be stopping there again

Thank you for your review Anton T. Unfortunately, all county decibel readings are below acceptable noise levels and therefore, we are not able to enforce any code violations on our neighbors. But I can assure you that the pool garden side of the building is much quieter and invite you back to give us another look. We are glad that all other aspects were satisfactory.

I have stayed here many times while working in the area and am always impressed with the cleanliness and neatness of the facility inside and out. It is currently decorated for Christmas and was done very nicely. Staff is always very helpful and friendly.

Hotel is in great location right on main road, near beach and many restaurants are nearby. Rooms are clean spacious and quiet. Staff is very helpful and friendly. [pool is nice with great bar. Would happily stay here again.

Look no further! This hotel offers perfect relaxation with clean optimal rooms. It can be comparable to a Marriot resort room without the high price. I loved the rooms, staff, free breakfast, awesome heated pool with nice bar, music and bon fire at night. Free ride service provided to beachs and "village" a must see..you will not be disappointed.

"Poor Management"

Was locked out of my room for two hours waiting on maintenance. The toilet was also broken and the remote didn't work. Maintenance crew and front desk staff were great but management never followed up with my issues.

Loved this hotel! Super clean, modern facilities. Great location to Siesta Key Beach which was the reason for our visit to the area. Very friendly staff from check in to check out. Obviously took pride in their facility and their jobs.

I? have stayed at this hotel many, many times. Courtesy, convenience, location, affordable. exceptional staff all in the best kept secret of Florida! Front desk staff check in is always a breeze. A disgusting place to stay. My healthy expectations were not met when I had to call house keeping back not once but twice. And the smell of puke from the elevator when I left the premises will be a story I will have for a life time.

SiestaHotelMgr, Owner at Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Kip B - After researching your information, we cannot find that you actually stayed with us. We will be submitting a formal request for confirmation of your stay since we did not have any incidences in our elevators the entire weekend and are suspect of your review. Staff is on site 24 hours a day, inspecting public areas. Other reviews do not mention anything similar to your comments.

Would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Was there for an Army reunion and was treated very good. The hotel staff went above and beyond in fulfilling our request, if we needed something all we had to do was ask. They are very helpful and friendly.

"Good Location , near the beach"

29/10/2017

This is great hotel. Right off of Highway 41, just a few miles from Siesta Key. My favorite part: were: A sports bar next door. We were able to watch our University's Football team play with a HD TV at our table. Back at the hotel pool during the afternoon we listened to Carribean music (granted it was mostly recorded with a steal drum player) but very nice. Later a woman played solo guitar with a mix of contemporary as well as classic songs along with a few of her own. Granted, this is only on the weekends but even for a business traveler it would be a great stop.

"Clean & friendly"

Friendly lobby staff check in was quick and easy. the hotel was clean from the lobby to the rooms. The breakfast was good and had a nice verity from fruit, cereal, to eggs, sausage, and biscuits & gravy Within walking distance to a few shops and restaurants

"hotel with a poolside bar"

5
26/10/2017

Hotel was great but the pool side bar was fantastic! Live music comfortable chairs and we didn't have to drive to a local bar to relax a day of sightseeing. Wonderful hot tub too. Located close to the beach and on the main highway going through town. Breakfast was hot and we have plenty of space to set down to eat.

We found this hotel to be convenient to the beach in Siesta Key. The hotel was clean, the staff professional and the breakfast very good. We will stay at this hotel again and will recommend it to our friends.

"Cool Refuge"

22/10/2017

My air conditioning system was being replaced and took longer than usual. I stayed here to keep out of the heat. The air system in my room was wonderful and let me dial that temperature down. The staff here was excellent. My room was very clean everyday. The rooms are a little outdated with décor, but I enjoyed the mini fridge and microwave. Also, the drains were a little slow. Overall a pleasant, cool stay. Thank you.

"Sarasota Visit"

16/10/2017

The location of the hotel is optimal. Easy access to the beaches. For a BW PLUS hotel it is not this great. The breakfast is the same like always. The pool is nice and the little bar inside of the pool as well.

Nice room, beautiful pool, great location, fabulous breakfast bar. Only complaint was the carpeting was dirty and we couldn't get Fox Sports to watch the baseball playoff games. They were kind enough to put it on the TV in the pool bar. The bar closed at 10pm so we couldn't see the end of the game.

"Sarasota Splendor"

Once again this hotel met my expectations and experience. It's the only place I will stay in Sarasota. Right off Siesta Key bridge so it's. Close to everything - beaches, restaurants and shopping. Mini fridge for leftovers and beverages.

"Great place to ride out hurricane Irma!"

5
12/09/2017

We were treated extremely well by all the staff members we encountered when we stayed here during our two-day mandatory evacuation from a nearby low barrier island due to hurricane Irma. The staff members were friendly, helpful, and politely took some abuse from some other guests when electricity went out in the area as the hurricane approached. The hotel had a back-up generator that ran the elevators and emergency lights in the halls and staircases until mid-day after the hurricane passed. We were very comfortable in our king-bed room while the hurricane passed over Sarasota, Florida. Having a fairly large dorm-sized refrigerator in the room allowed us to bring and prepare gluten-free, celiac-safe meals. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

"Hurricane Irma"

11/09/2017

I would like to thank everyone at the Best Western Plus Siesta Key. Me and my 82 year old mother stayed here during Hurricane Irma and they could not have been more hospitable. They kept us calm and informed as best they could. It was a stressful time for all. Candy Kate Rich and Nicole along with the rest of the staff were absolutely amazing.

07/09/2017

Used rewards points, but rate wasn't too high Older hotel with exterior doors, updated at some point, decent, but needs some attention to routine maintenance/ cleaning (like vents), general cleaning seemed ok. No noise complaints, but not sure hotel was that busy. Very convenient location.

"Nice location but overpriced!"

3
06/09/2017

The Best Western name fits this hotel perfect. The pool area is amazing and the landscape is gorgeous! The rooms are clean and maintained well. If it weren't for the awesome location close to Siesta Key, this hotel would probably charge $60 a night instead of $130. You can find a beautiful 4 star hotel in this area for that price.

"Quick stay - comfy beds"

4
30/08/2017

We stayed here for a few nights while we visited relatives. We drove to Siesta beach - a quick 15 minute ride. The location of the hotel was convenient for us - closet to Publix, restaurants, and the beach. The room was tight for 4 of us. We loved the breakfast. The place gets very busy on the weekends we noticed. The pool was warm for this time of year but the kids enjoyed it. We utilized the common area to play games at night (we had our own). The free popcorn was a huge hit and the staff were very friendly. The beds were only a double but were comfy. For the price the place was great.

"Great place"

5
30/08/2017

It's close to the beaches of Siesta Key. Clean large rooms. Breakfast served has a nice variety. Pool is a good size with a nice covered bar in case it rains. Easy access and close to many different restaurants.

Nice place to stay as the only chain hotel. Only stayed one night. Pleasant staff, decent free breakfast, popcorn and cookies! Relaxing pool area with tiki bar though it only stays open until 10pm and is cashless; so bring your credit card.

"Bad timing for checking into this below par hotel"

2
21/08/2017

We were unfortunate to arrive on the day of a billing system software update that prevent us and all guests from checking in until after 4 PM. Utter chaos at the front desk. We went to the pool where all of the swimmers were dealing with the same situation. At 4 PM the guest before me was given a room key but returned a few minutes later. Someone already in that room. Gave him another room. Then the same thing happened to me. Waited 4 hours to find someone already in the room that we had been assigned. Finally got into our room at about 5. I asked to speak to management but they were "hiding" in the office and wouldn't talk with guests. Left it up to rookie front desk staff to take the hit. The room was OK. Typical of so many hotels that have been refurbished except the bathrooms. Out of date but acceptable. Towels were cheap and threadbare. Nearly worthless. Buffet breakfast was ok. Would I stay again? Probably not. Too many bad memories about check-in chaos. Finally, some compensation from management would have been thoughtful. Other guests suggested complimentary drinks but I didn't even bring it up to management since they were already drowning in chaos and staying out of sight. Stayed August 2017, traveled as a couple https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g34618-d9979284-r515335861-Siesta_Key_Palms_Hotel-Sarasota_Florida.html#

Michael A M - Your review discusses exactly what transpires unfortunately, in a hotel when technical system upgrades take over the day to day handling of keeping track of guest rooms. Of course, the issues you encountered were not normal, as can be gleaned from your review. As for management, many were in the background attempting to address and fix the issues at hand as there were quite a few beyond our control. One would think you would understand that fact since we were truthful about the problem at hand. We apologize for the double check in to the rooms but unfortunately, the mainframe was not dropping the correct information into our local systems hence the confusion with available rooms. It is unfortunate, but it happens.

16/08/2017

I booked the Best Western based on Trip Advisor reviews (which is always the way I book a hotel). I was a little disappointed with the hotel in several categories though I understand most other places in Siesta Key are more pricey. I travel quite a bit and am easy to please, though there were several things that didn't meet my standards. Pros - very friendly and attentive staff, good continental breakfast - plenty of options and reasonable amount of room to sit, AC worked really well and had a constant fan option, housekeeping (when they showed up timely) did a good job cleaning the rooms, bed soft and comfortable, decent location - quick and easy trip to the beach Cons - Fox news was on 24/7 in the lobby. I really don't want to be subjected to this type of BS while on vacation!!!! A huge turn off as it would be much more appropriate and informative if the channel was on a local channel or the weather channel. I pretty much do not return to any properties or businesses that is showing fox news. The rooms are very outdated and small. There were two of us and almost no space to maneuver around. I couldn't imagine four people in a room!! Sink was outside the bathroom. Bathroom/shower very small. No place to put luggage to where it wasn't constantly in the way. Housekeeping didn't come until 4:30 on two days. This is unacceptable. Sink lighting was very low. If you get a room on the lobby side, get ready for a 7 am wake up call as the trash trucks run WAY TOO EARLY!!! Why not tell them to come later in the day??

"Bed bug in our bed. BED BUG ALERT! BED BUG ALERT!"

2
16/08/2017

It was 7:30 in the morning after a very enjoyable day at the beach and at the pool at the hotel. My husband was getting back in the bed and pulls back the covers and we see a bed bug. I jump out of bed and we immediately shake out all of our belongings and repack our things and go to the front desk to report what had happened. When we get there we ask for a manager. The young man at the front desk says that there was not a manager available. We asked when would a manager be in. He says that the manager that is coming in is in training and can't speak to customers. We asked him to call a manager and he wouldn't. So then we proceed to tell him what was going on. We checked out we were not given a receipt. I do not feel my problem was not solved and I will never stay here again. I would NEVER recommend this hotel. Not only did we have a problem with bugs we had a coupon from the rewards program that didn't get applied. Terrible customer service.

Room was much smaller that I anticipated. I was not awarded Best Western points because I reserved the room on expedia. No one told me this. In fact, it would have been cheaper to reserve the room directly at the hotel. I am a rewards member.

09/08/2017

Very pleaseant stay. The service was very good in general, nice people, nice pool, and quiet enviroment all the time but the air conditioner and the humidity of the carpet made me sick. The breakfast was excellent and nice and the parking is large and confortable.

"Nice place to stay"

3
07/08/2017

This was a nice place to stay and very close to the beach. It delivered on everything I expect of a hotel, nothing more, nothing less. I expect a clean room and pleasant staff which is why I rated it average as there was nothing that WOW'ed me, With that said, I would definitely stay here again.

"Good for short term stay"

3
07/08/2017

Hotel room was very clean and quiet. Location was close to everything you need. Staff was friendly. The room is very small. AC is loud as in most hotel window units. The only reason for the 3 star rating is that the bed was very hard. OK, if that's what you like

"GREAT VALUE!!!!"

Great hotel, with a great breakfast and great customer service!!! Would highly recommend!! Beds were OK, nothing fantastic, but acceptable!!! Pool area and pol bar were great!!! And free shuttle to Siesta Key!!!!

31/07/2017

We stayed here for 3 days for an excursion to the beach will visiting my parents who live in central Florida. We were warmly greeted at check-in, and were please with our room. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. We loved the pool area, having pool towels available and the bar area was a nice plus. There is a super comfortable setting area near the pool and plenty of lounge chair and tables. Hotel staff were very attentive with requests and questions. Our breakfast was fabulous with an excellent variety of high quality selections. I would definitely stay here again, my son liked it, age 17, and my parents also were comfortable.

"Best deal around"

30/07/2017

Clean, and well kept property. But, this is Not a hotel. It is a motel. Decor a bit dated, but it's clean so who cares? It is close to the beaches and shopping. Nice pool (with a bar). Free breakfast is very good, but doesn't open till 7AM. Check out the tiny houses behind the property!

"Our Go-To Hotel"

5
28/07/2017

This is our second stay at this hotel and is now our go-to when we visit Siesta Key. We have been visiting the area for three years now. The first year we stayed in Nokomis so we had about a 20 min drive to Siesta Key. The best western is right over the bridge from Siesta Key and is so close!!! It only took us 5-10 mins to drive, park and be at the beach. Making reservations and checking in is always easy. The employees are really nice and helpful. They always give us a coupon for the sand dollar pool bar which we always look forward to grabbing a drink and relaxing after our long drive and getting settled in our room. The popcorn and cookies in the lobby are always a great touch. The free breakfast is amazing and is a huge factor in why we stay. There are always so many options and they change daily so there's always a variety. The pool, hot tub and bar are also a huge factor in why we stay. We love to relax by the pool and fire pit with a drink after long day at the beach. Only thing is sometimes room service did not replenish wash rags or cups, but the front desk always was helpful with giving us them if we asked. Also love how it feels secluded although it is right off the road. We will definitely keep coming back!

"Could've been better"

3
28/07/2017

Found a decent deal online that wasn't too far from the beach. Checked in and the bath/shower had some mold in it. Not horrendous but made us question how thorough they cleaned normally. The toilet handle didn't work. The front desk was very accommodating and offered to get maintenance to take care of the issues. Probably okay for young people who just want a place to sleep and aren't picky about cleanliness. Again, it was not horrible. Just felt uneasy.

"Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway - Stay"

27/07/2017

My wife and I were on a business trip to help save Sarasota Bay and Big Pass for fish and wildlife. We enjoyed our stay even though it was on business as the location was perfect, the pool looked inviting. The hospitality at the front desk was great. We just needed to stay longer to take in the amenities both at the motel and around the location. I grew up in Sarasota and needed to visit more often. Thank you for your accommodation.

"close to siesta key beach"

26/07/2017

Positive aspects: Close to siesta key beach, about a 10 min drive; nice pool area with a bar during happy hour times; friendly staff; breakfast was decent with a wide variety of food; free popcorn in the lobby. Not so positive aspects: hotel was outdated, kind of a weird/confusing setup with elevators/stairs; bathrooms need updates badly.

"Can't go wrong"

5
26/07/2017

Can't get any closer to siesta key, a couple of minutes and over the bridge you go into siesta key. The price is half of what you would pay on siesta key plus the Free breakfast buffet every morning is awesome. That alone saves You a lot. The place is clean and well kept. Staff is pleasant so for us this is a highly recommended place to enjoy your vacation. Be back in May of 18, Thank you Best Western Plus

"Great Get Away"

24/07/2017

We stayed for 4 nights during a volleyball tournament. Our room was comfortable and clean. Our daughter had to be on the courts early, before breakfast was served at the hotel. They graciously made a to go bag filled with fruit for her to take in the morning. The pool area is nice and we enjoyed the bar and live music. I only wish we could have eaten our take out pizza by the pool. They do not allow outside food or drinks in the pool area, and it was enforced while we were there. I'd stay here again if back in the area.

"Only 1 mile from Siesta Key Beach"

5
21/07/2017

The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice big outdoor swimming pool. The breakfast had a variety of foods and was very good. The rate was fair for where we were staying. We were only 1 mile from Siesta Key Beach. Very easy to get to and lots of free parking. Lots of restaurants close around.

"Phenomenal service!"

18/07/2017

Always love staying here! Allison at the front desk is awesome, as is Mark! Thank you for making our stay so awesome! We've been staying here 1-3 nights every year before we can check in to our condo on Siesta Key. Many awesome memories at the Best Western Plus!

"Great Escape"

15/07/2017

Outstanding service from staff, great breakfast, great pool, and close proximity to the beaches. I just loved the shuttle service to and from the beaches. Tyler and Katie especially made our trip enjoyable by providing dining out suggestions and reserving out spots on the shuttle to the beach. Whenever we needed something they were quick to accommodate our needs. Thank you so much for always helping out with a smile.

One night stay . Check in and out were varily easy. It was an easy access location to Siesta key. Advise using the discount card for provide a ride card to get to island as it was hard to find parking, The rooms were clean and comfortable. The Pool and hot tub area are nice and in working order. Got crowded at night. Breakfast was mediocre but they had a variety available.

"Great hotel!"

5
11/07/2017

It is a very nice hotel, right in the exit to Siesta Key, what makes you be at the beach in 5-10 minutes by car. Well located, stores just across the street on Tamiami Trail. And the hotel and staff are very nice!

"Amazing"

10/07/2017

My mom, cousin and I stayed here for a 4 day girls get away. We booked the 2 room suite and it was perfect! King size bed and walk in shower in 1 room, sofa sleeper and tub/shower in the 2nd room. Mini fridge, microwave and table to dine at or play games, etc... the furnishings were New and clean. Had an amazing view of the pool. Pool bar had live music on the weekend, and happy hour drink specials. You can borrow free beach chairs from the front desk if you're headed out to the beach for a day in the sun! Johnnys free ride will take you anywhere on the key, for a tip. I highly recommend staying here. We will be back!

"Bast place to stay in Sarasota"

5
06/07/2017

This is a great location as is it is easily accessible to any place in Sarasota; Siesta Key Bridge is just a short ride and over a bridge. On the weekends, there is live music by the pool during happy hour. The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff does everything in their power to make everything enjoyable. Because of the employee generated atmosphere, other guests seem to be more friendly.

"Roach infested"

This is a very nice hotel choice close to Siesta Key and the beaches. I've stayed at this facility several times over the years and under several different franchises. Best Western has done a wonderful job in upgrading the premises. Beautiful landscaping and maintenance. Staff was very friendly at both check in and through the duration of our stay.

First visit to SIESTA KEY - this hotel very reasonable & good value. Rooms clean - bed comfortable & bathroom & shower good. Fridge helpful Pool area very nice with live music at weekends which was great . Offers free taxi service (tip only) to SIESTA KEY. We used it to go crescent beach - good sunset, Good food & music Try the popcorn from reception - tasty. Free parking which we always appreciate

"Towel was soft - bed was not"

3
01/07/2017

Perhaps it was just in room 333 but the mattress didn't fit properly and certainly was uncomfortable. The room was clean, the towels were soft but not sure about the spigot in the bath tub. Staff when I checked in and later in the evening were very helpful. The location on Route 41 (back exit gets you out to a light or left turn to Siesta Key) was ideal to go into Sarasota or to Siesta Key. This hotel does have ample room for the breakfast crowd and the food was the normal BW fare but ample and the area was neat, clean and well stocked with food and supplies. Although this is considered a BW "Plus" my average rating is based on the bed comfort and issue with travel card. However, my main criteria for any hotel is "is it clean". Yes, this hotel was clean so if I were in the area I would consider staying here again. For Best Western Rewards members, do make certain that staff handle your rewards properly and that your bill is correct with any BW travel awards.

Stayed for 2 nights. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Hot and cold breakfast with good selections. Love the unlimited coffee and popcorn. Very nice pool area. Unfortunately laundry was out of order...

"Cheap hotel"

28/06/2017

I have been here before and knew exactly what I was getting. Here's the pro's: price, location, clean. This is a budget hotel. You can stay for $120 per night. You are 5 minutes from the beach. The pool is nice and clean. Good happy hour. The rooms are clean. Free breakfast and popcorn in the lobby. Nice TV and cable channels. Cons: It is dated. The rooms are very small and tight. The bathroom is very small. The rooms only are double and king. There are no queen beds at this hotel. The beds are lumpy and uncomfortable. The pool area does not allow you to bring your $9 drink poolside. The bartender told us to put the drinks at the tables. Overall good for people on a budget but you have to be willing to deal with the cons. I won't again. My last visit unless they make some changes.

We were all stressed about the weather for the beach wedding and getting everything ready. The staff helped us on transportation and gave us an extra room for the bride and bridesmaids. All went off without a hitch.

The staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast was good and the shuttle to the beach, very useful. Very clean, affordable place to stay for a couple of days. My family had no complaint, we will be back soon.

23/06/2017

This appears to be an older hotel. It was okay for the most part. Room was clean and staff very friendly. Did not care that entry to room was from the outside. The decor in the lobby and room itself needed updating. For the area, I guess the cost was okay but for the price I paid, I am use to nicer hotels with entry to room from inside. Okay for a night or two but not long term. Breakfast was nothing fancy, just okay.

"We will be back."

22/06/2017

From the moment you pull in the drive, it is clear that this hotel is very well maintained. The staff throughout the hotel, pool/bar were very friendly and happy to have us there. We never heard anyone say "we can't do that".

"Very nice property"

21/06/2017

Unexpectedly nice property. Rooms were ok; slightly weathered and small but the pool area had a nice bar and great entertainment poolside. Decent breakfast and very helpful staff. Would use this again if we visited the area. Big plus was the free transportation to Siesta Key beach.

19/06/2017

We booked a room that said pool view didn't get a pool view but a garden pool view which wasn't really a problem the only issue is the extra $ you have to pay to have a room with a pool view and don't get it

"Beautiful remodel, reasonable access to Siesta Key"

19/06/2017

We've stayed at this hotel when it was a Holiday Inn, Days Inn and something else, and it was quite acceptable. But this place has been completely remodeled and is superior to it's past lives. The facilities are great (pool bar, breakfast room, exercise room, lobby, etc.), The pool is really nice and the landscaping throughout, much nicer than it was before. The rooms are very comfortable, tv is large and have a comfortable chair. Loved the soft headboard mural over the bed, and the pictures are large and beach scenes (although they could have been dry mounted to prevent rippling from the humidity). Microwaves and refrigerators in each room. Breakfast is fine and the room is beautiful. Best of all, it's a bargain from staying on Siesta Key, which is really right nearby.

"3 days by the sea."

The hotel is located close to shops and restaurants and a short walk to the beach. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good position for travelling on to many beautiful beaches, Room really good and complimentary breakfast was best of all 3 hotels we stay at on this trip.

"Average but clean"

15/06/2017

The room could've used some updating but it was clean. Breakfast was great and seemed to have something to please everyone. The elevators were really stuffy. I wish there was a smoking area so I could've avoided smelling the stench.

15/06/2017

We always stay at this hotel when we come to Siesta Key, which is once or twice a year. Love the pool bar, not many hotels have one. Also, the free popcorn in the lobby for in between meals is perfect. Lets not forget the breakfast that is included. The staff is always very helpful.

Everything was great. Rooms were clean. Beds and pillows were comfy. Pool area was very nice. Loved having the poolside bar with happy hour. Loved the seating area with fire pit. The breakfast was very good and had plenty of choices. It was a great location only a few mins drive to siesta public beach. There were plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Will definitely be back and would definitely recommend to family and friends

Hotel very clean and comfortable. Pool very clean with a pool bar and band on weekends. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was very good. Ample parking and the lots are made so cars are separated from rooms facing lots by greenery so cars not noisy in those rooms. I would stay here again!

"Good hotel shame about the "rules""

05/06/2017

Stayed here a couple of nights whilst on our west coast road trip. First the good. We had a room with double queen beds and the room was spotless and it felt as though it had recently been refurbished. A good size with all the things you need free safe fridge big tv iron etc. The location is a little off the key probably 3 mile to the village but plenty of options like the companies that offer a taxi service for tips only but beware most expect at least $5 as a min each way with reports that some can be quite abusive if they feel you have not tipped enough. The bar area which is enclosed within the swimming pool area is also lovely with happy hour between 3 and 7 and very reasonable prices and cheaper than what you pay in bars on the key. This is staffed until 10 with live music acts on a weekend and a lovely gas fire feature to sit around on an evening. The bad ( my opinion ) Rules My wife is a smoker and she was banished to the far end of the car park to an area with a bench and cover to smoke. You were not allowed so smoke anywhere else on the property not even the car park. I know smoking is frowned upon now but come on to be treat like a leper is not on plus on a night this area is wick with mosquitos attracted by the light and my wife was bitten numerous times. Also as mentioned the bar closes at 10 and at this stage the bar staff shut up shop which is fair enough to however you are asked to leave and the area is locked so you can't even sit and chat. We were having a good laugh with other guests and abruptly told to leave. There is no where else to sit apart from in side which I personally don't want to do when it is such a nice night. They also insist you do not consume alcohol on the property unless purchased at the bar. The area around the pool is covered by Cctv so why insist on locking the pool area up. At least let guests decide when it's time for bed and due to the fact the rooms have no balcony I found this really annoying. Lovely hotel and grounds spoilt by the "RULES"

"Great Value and location"

30/05/2017

This hotel is very clean with amazing staff. The location is about 6 minutes over the bridge to Siesta Key. There is also a restaurant, Harry's, that is steps from this hotel. Excellent. The Sand Dollar pool bar is great. Katrina, the bartender is very friendly and we found ourselves loving her drinks and company. She made all feel at home and introduced everyone. The breakfast area is very clean and plentiful. Lots of rotating choices. We were there for a week and there was always different choices if we wanted. Rich, who manages the kitchen was always checking to see if everything was okay. Food was hot. This is a older hotel. The bathrooms are a bit small. The grounds are well kept and the rooms are immaculate. We will definitely return to this hotel. Of course the fresh chocolate cookies in the evening are great too!

We were a group of 11 from Scotland staying here for 7 days on a golf trip from start to finish the hotel staff were great especially at night when we got back late .Hot coffee and cakes where really appreciated , the breakfast in morning was basic but good enough .tip use Jonny taxis from the hotel they take you on a tip only basic we used the pool area and bar you can only use a card or charge to your room no cash . All rooms cleaned every day .small shower over a bath . Each room has a safe easy to use and large tv . Pently care park spaces next to Harry's bar we had a few meals in Harry good pub food very close to the hotel . Also just across from a shopping area with a hooters and supermarkets and behind this area there is a few pubs but rough but safe overall the hotel was good great for short breaks

Great rooms, great breakfast. A five minute drive to the best beach in the USA. Front desk staff is courteous and helpful. Coffe avaiable all day, with pop corn, and cookies. Good pool, but who wants to stay in the pool, with Crescent beach a few minutes away?

23/05/2017

We didn't stay here after all. When we arrived at 2:00 the desk informed us the room wasn't ready and wouldn't be until after 4:00. The hotel is on a major road in a rather industrial area so there's not much to do while waiting for your room. This isn't in the beach area of Sarasota and there's no water access. We drove to the Sarasota marina and after 2 hours and the room still wasn't ready we cancelled and went to Orlando. At least we didn't get charged for the cancellation but why would we when they couldn't get the room ready ?

"Very nice."

Good location with plenty of eating options within walking distance. Comfortable room and spotlessly clean. The reception staff were very helpful, as was Katrina at the poolside bar. Nice simple and plenty of choice breakfast. All in all a very nice place to stay.

17/05/2017

My wife and I stayed here for five nights the first part of May 2017. Overall it was a good experience. Above I gave this B/W a 4 of 5 rating but 3 1/2 stars out of 5 would be a little more accurate. The location is great. Lots to do close by. Restaurants that are near and access to some of Siesta Keys awesome beaches make it an ideal spot geographically. Hotel staff were great and friendly. The room itself was clean and everything worked. The exception to this was that the bathroom could have been cleaner especially if staff had looked behind the bathroom door. Some caulking on the floor near the tub base was missing and in need of repair or replacement. The king sized bed we had was very comfortable and the pillows might have been the best we ever experienced at a hotel. The air conditioning unit worked well and kept us comfortable at all times. In the end we had a good stay here and I would recommend this B/W to others but this hotel would have to do a little more to earn a justified 4 star rating. The pool was very nice and the pool environment was great. A pool side Tiki Bar is a nice touch as well. Only problem with the pool and Tiki Bar is that it closes every night at 10pm sharp. I think 11pm would have been better. A full breakfast is served every morning included in the room charges. This is great and we ate here all but one morning. Eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, juice and coffee and fresh fruit served daily with some variations. Never saw bacon which would have been a nice touch. We did appreciate our morning breakfast experience here, however. The advanced internet price was reasonable for our stay. All in all our stay and experience here was satisfying. Tip: If you have never been to Sarasota Florida or specifically Siesta Keys be sure and put this way up on your bucket list of beaches and places to visit. Great food, friendly people, and FANTASTIC beaches just waiting for you to experience and make great memories.

We needed a place to stay for a family wedding. It was just the 2 of us so instead of renting a condo, we opted for BWSiesta Key Gateway. Loved the varied hot breakfast each morning. The staff is great including maintenance, front desk, outdoor bar & the breakfast cook.

12/05/2017

As part of our Florida road trip we stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is of an older style. Overall the hotel has many plus points and our stay was good. + Rooms are clean + Great pool area with free towels that are changed at regular intervals. + Complimentary breakfast + Plenty of free parking On the minus side * Rooms are on the small side so 3 days maximum would be my preference. * Not keen on the clothes hanging space (no wardrobes) being next to the toilet in the bathroom. * Try not to get a room near pool area if you are someone who goes to bed early as it can be noisy late on as the pool area bar is open until around 11:30. * Breakfast was very very busy on the Saturday with a long line of 10 for the toaster (1 had broken down). = The beach is fantastic with facilities right on the beach.10-15 minute drive takes you onto Siesta Beach with the finest sand you could hope for. = Harry's sports bar next door is great. Food excellent as well as variety of beers and sirits. = Longhorn Steakhouse across the road does great steaks at reasonable prices FINALLY AND NO FAULT OF THE HOTEL OR STAFF Thanks to those in room 128 on Friday May 5th our night was a nightmare from hell ( I assume you will be the kind that never reads Tripadvisor so the message will never reach you but I have to get it off my chest!). Banging doors....whooping and hollering...in and out of the room.....different people coming and going....even tried to get into our room (130) until they clearly realised the key wouldn't work.....all until 04:15 am. Luckily they checked out after 1 night because I would not have stood for it again There.....off my chest! Don't let my 1 night's experience put you off. This hotel is perfect for beach or a few nights stay. Would definitely come back.

We found this Best Western to be clean and the beds were comfortable, but we were very disappointed in the size of the rooms. They were very small, and the sink and vanity were outside of the bathroom which was inconvenient. We were also a bit disappointed in the breakfast, particularly the eggs. They were pre-made and rubbery, and the biscuits were dry. It was in a good location, and the shuttle service to the beach and village were ideal. For just a couple of bucks, they will take you anywhere on the key.

11/05/2017

My husband and I decided to take a weekend and go to Siesta Key in Sarasota, Fl. Hotel on the internet looked to be very nice, but in my opinion needs work. It is an old hotel that is gradually being remodeled. Pool area is very nice, rooms still need upgrading the beds are HORRIBLE, need new mattress. Location is excellent within a 2 miles of the beach, hotel has free shuttle service to the beach and square where all the action is, restaurants, bars, shops, etc., only have to tip the driver. This was very convenient. Our room did not get done on the second day we were there, according to them too busy, had to go to the front desk to get towels, coffee, etc.

Front desk person- Scott- is awesome! Such a nice guy, great customer service! He's a gem :) We checked out at 6am , way before breakfast was served and he ran and made us a little goody bag for the road! No other place would have even offered that! We just figured we'd stop down the road, and this allowed us to drive a few hours before having to stop! Great job!

So close to the beach and the hot spots. The hotel is clean and welcoming, the front desk staff is friendly and efficient, they have a pool bar with live music and an included breakfast that is very good, nice set up and presentation. They offer free shuttles! this was great! we parked our cars when we arrived and didn't get back to or use them until we check out (3 days later), how convenient! we went to the beach (that was packed) and didn't have to deal with finding a spot or have to pay for it, then at nights we went to eat, have drinks and fun with no need to have a designated driver, just call Johnny's and they come to pick you up and drop you off. The drivers are super friendly (good job Larry) they work for tips, so treat them well, they deserved it.

I've stayed at this hotel a few times over the years. The beds are SO comfortable! When we checked in late last Friday night, the clerk had our paperwork ready, we signed, got our room and Wifi codes and went right upstairs. We were facing the pool and it was not noisy at all! The A/C was slightly noisy and the bathrooms are very small, but who stays in their hotel that much in Sarasota! Check out was just as easy as check in. The free breakfast was actually very good. We'll be back!

02/05/2017

We finally found the hotel after missing it twice. Very weird entrance... When we arrived to check in there was assistant manager at the front desk and a front desk clerk. The front desk clerk I was flipping through some papers while the assistant manager was on the computer. Apparently she was reading some reviews because she then called the clerk over and said Tyler, this one is about you. He then walked over and started reading the review. Meanwhile we're still standing there trying to check in. After a few moments the assistant manager asked if she could help us. And then checked us in. No hello. No welcome. No smile. No hospitality in this place... The room itself was fine it was clean and the bed was comfortable. But the bathroom! Old, old, old! There was no closet. Just a clothes bar in the bathroom. Right next to the toilet. Gross exclamation point I don't want my clothes hanging right next to the toilet! That is disgusting! There were two bath towels and two hand towels and 2 washcloths. That was it. Maybe there was a shortage of towels.? I don't know. The ironing board was a tiny little tabletop ironing board. Really? And ironing board costs $15. We were going to a wedding. It is very difficult to iron wedding clothes on a tabletop ironing board. Breakfast in the morning was good. Although the tables were not cleaned very quickly... And I had to wipe off my own table.

I've reviewed this hotel before and I gave it at least 4 stars because it's generally good in many ways. Staff is friendly, poolside staff great, etc. This visit I noticed that there is bubbling in the ceiling of my room. And the artwork is dated. And instead of putting 4 large pictures in the two double bed bedroom, how about just 2... Otherwise, it's quite comfortable and in a convenient location.

"Near the beach, near good restaurants."

27/04/2017

This hotel is close to the beach, but it's not easy to get to due to traffic. The hotel is by today's standards average. Rooms were clean, but small and out dated. Breakfast was poor, the pool looked nice, but we never used it. Staff was friendly.

Absolutely loved this Best Western Plus. We have stayed at the Best Western Plus in Brooklyn, NY and found this hotel in Sarasota to be just as wonderful. Felt very safe as well and would definitely stay again.

On my reservation, I indicated we would be arriving about noon and would like an early check in. When we arrived - 11:30 - after an extremely early and long travel morning, we were NOT warmly greeted. Margaret at the front desk brusquely dismissed my early check in request with "check in is at 4." When I again indicated my request, she very rudely said that the earliest would be 2:00. I was tired and travel weary, and asked what we were to do and she told us TO COME BACK LATER. I was dumbfounded. We were being flicked away like a bothersome fly?? There was NO "I'm so sorry, can I have your number and we'll text you as soon as we have a room available", no "gee, we can store your luggage here" or "why not spend some time at our pool lounge?" nothing. Just go away and come back later. Totally flabbergasted, I was the one who asked about luggage holding and an area to change from our heavier clothes to more appropriate Florida gear. It was as if I was asking Margaret to pay for my stay. Her cold, abrubt attitude TOTALLY put me off from this hotel from the start. We drove around Siesta Key and found a LOVELY, warm, welcoming cafe for lunch. We returned to the hotel at 1:00, where a different front desk person checked us in without a blink. Our room was a King, and faced the parking lot. The bed was not comfortable at all - and my companion agreed. The walking path between the foot of the bed and the dresser - desk area was very tight. There was a good amount of countertop at the sink area, and we both felt the storage for clothing and suitcases was just okay. It was a guessing game each day upon our return as to how made up our room would be. Some days the decorative bolster and bed quiltlet were on, other days they were on the floor. Parking was iffy as well. Granted, this was Easter break, so the hotel was full. In addition, we did not use the free beach shuttle .... and athere is NO printed information on it either, so make sure you ask someone if you plan on using it. Our stay wasn't all bad. KUDOS to Stacy, the breakfast hostess who kept the breakfast choices stocked, hot and always with a cheerful demeanor, despite being short handed. The pool area was very very nice, with a large deck, shade, and the popular fire pit and surrounding cushioned outdoor furniture/umbrellas. Did not order from the bar, and was a bit disappointed to discover that the 'live music' was only from 3 to 6 p.m. VERY strange! All in all, there are many other hotel choices in the area, which I will be looking in to for our next trip down. As my friend said to me after hearing of my experience .."It IS a Best Western after all." It wasn't a great stay, but not totally a bad stay either. Just Average.

The staff at this particular hotel was exceptional. They were attentive, accommodating, friendly, welcoming, and patient. More specifically, the culture of the hotel is evident in the dealings with their front desk staff. They consistently showed kindness, created joy, took ownership, and did more. I will seriously consider Best Western's in the future when compared to our most frequented Marriott hotels. Kudos to the Management Leadership Team!

"Overall, great time and will be back!"

16/04/2017

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. I LOVED the location of the hotel and the hotel in general. It has a beautiful outdoor area with a pool, hot tub, and outdoor bar. The popcorn machine and cookies is a cute bonus and the outdoor bonfire pit is a nice touch as well. The only concerns we had were with the outdoor bartenders. They were super STRICT on rules and flipped out if we had a cooler with us or if we stayed out by the pool past 10:00. The bartenders need to lighten up and remember that they are there for the CUSTOMERS not to go home right on time. The breakfast lady staff member was so kind, sweet, and accommodating. A few of the front desk personnel were rude and "short" with customers, but not all of the personnel behaved that way. It was just a few of the ladies, that were rude, not the gentleman. Overall, we had a great stay and we will be back. Hopefully by then, the staff might work on being a little more kind to their customers.

My husband and I recently stayed here during our honeymoon. The hotel room was always clean, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast options were abundant. Also, the hotel was very quiet. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting quick access to the #1 beach in America! :)

12/04/2017

Lovely room but the bathroom was a tad small, vanity unit is separate. The down side of the room was the annoying air vent which kept me awake all night. Changed room and had an amazing second night sleep. Third night next door very kindly left their bathroom fan on all night ! Rooms can be noisy but reception will give you ear defenders. The hotel offers free coffee and popcorn, great bonus. Breakfast was continental and very good. Pool area was small and with a nice relaxing bar area, most days had a guy singing playing his guitar. Local free taxi which is a plus, tipping only, we used this to visit siesta key village. Would recommend this hotel but would like the BW to address the bathroom air vents!

"Definitely not a Plus class Hotel."

2
12/04/2017

This hotel is more like a Motel 6, definitely not up to par with other Best Western Plus's. The rooms are extremely small, the bathrooms are even smaller. If you get a double bed room plan on the beds being full sized not queens.

"Great place for the money!"

11/04/2017

We booked this hotel for spring break. The pictures looked great, but we were a little nervous before we arrived. However, once we were here, it's a great place! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean. It's a little outdated, but still a great room! It is a great location to the beach and all the restaurants. They also partner up with Jonny's free ride. They offer free rides to any where on the Key. We utilized this ride service every day for the beach. Only need to tip the driver. Pool looks nice, although we didn't use it. We wanted to be on the beach every day!

Not too shabby for a best western. Need a car to get to beach but only my a five min drive and that was during spring break. The breakfast was wonderful so much to choose from. The bathroom was nice and clean and the room was nice and clean . The only two issues I have are the beads. For the price they should have at least a queen size the beds were too small for two people . And what's up with the plastic covers get rid of them .

Excellent staff in all phases. Room was clean and well appointed. The reception desk staff was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Pool area well appointed and clean. Parking was ample and convenient. Multiple staircases and elevator were available. There was even buttered popcorn 24/7, not important, but a nice feature. Grounds well maintained. Overall, a great experience and recommended.

"Convenience and Location"

28/11/2016

The price and location are right. The staff was friendly, informative and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful, complete and delicious. We were attending an event at Harry's Sports Bar, which shares their parking lot with this BW, and location was paramount in importance. With a AAA discount the nightly rate was a bargain. The bedding left a lot to be desired in our room. Our king bed was not updated in a while and had a rut in the middle and was not close to my needs for a good nights sleep.

"Great room, pool, hot tub, and tiki bar."

One of the highlights of our brief stay, was the availability of free transportation to siesta key beach and all the restaurants on the island. It was a short trip, but so much better than having to drive and find a parking space. When we wanted to return to the hotel, just a short wait for our ride. And the breakfast was awesome!

"No-Frills Hotel 10-Minute drive from Siesta Key Beach"

22/11/2016

I stayed overnight on business. I booked this directly and I benefited from a AAA (CAA) discount. This hotel is well located approximately a 10-min. car ride from Siesta Key Beach, 15 minutes from downtown Sarasota, and 20 minutes from Sarasota/Bradenton Airport, although the immediate area around the hotel is not so interesting. The room was clean and well equipped, although the outside walkways are tired, and the hotel rooms are set up Florida style, with direct access outdoors. The complimentary breakfast was good, with lots of choice. If you are looking for a decently priced hotel in a good location for pleasure or business travel, this could be a good choice, but I'd avoid thinking that this would be a good spot for an extended vacation stay.

SiestaHotelMgr, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Greetings MontrealMan49 - Thank you for your recent review and description of our location. Our immediate area, although on the mainland at the south bridge and just minutes from Siesta Beach, is populated by many restaurants and a shopping mall all accessible on foot. Possibly this would not be of interest to you but is a necessity for many of our guests who do not wish to drive to a restaurant or pickup a few things at Ross or Books a Million in the Pavilion Mall. It's truly the best of both worlds with the proximity to the beach. We thank you for your patronage and appreciate your compliments regarding our free breakfast.

"Just one thing"

22/11/2016

The Siesta Key Gateway is a pretty great hotel for the money. Good location, nice rooms, a very nice pool, cordial front desk, all of that. One odd thing: Towels. In our room we just got one each, and at the pool, not only were there few towels, they were too small and virtually threadbare. It's odd. The rest of the hotel seems pretty up to date and well maintained. And it's not like these towels are awful. They are just adequate when the idea, even at a Best Western, is to be a bit better than that. It wouldn't prevent me from recommending it but it could be better without much expense, it would seem to me.

Pricing is consistent with the quality of the facility. Good service and amenities. Would book again. Nice courtyard / garden / pool area with bar and snacks. Well set back away from the road. Facility and room were comfortable and quiet.

A nice comfortable hotel with nice friendly staff. Not as close to the beach as I thought but transport was available although the hotel said it was free felt obliged to tip. Nice pool and bar. Plenty of restaurants very close to the hotel. Would stay again

Awesome location close to everything, Harry's across the street is a great Bar/Grill! It was easy from booking to checkout. I don't recommend a room by the elevator as the room adjacent to it you could hear it ding loud into the room.

"I loved this hotel!"

15/11/2016

I had the opportunity to travel with friends to Siesta Key over the weekend. I live in Lakeland, Florida and they were in town visiting. My friend booked this hotel as they had stayed there previously. When we arrived, my friend's daughter asked if we could have a poolside room. We were given a room on the second floor just above the pool bar. The room was clean. I did find the room to be a little tight on space, especially near the bathroom area. The hotel is located very close to the bridge going over to the beach and is easy to get in & out of. They offer a pool bar with live music at some times. There is also a fire pit and a hot tub. The pool water was a great temperature. Not too hot, not too cold. They offer popcorn during the day and cookies daily at 4pm. We asked for, and received, late checkout on Monday. I will definitely remember this hotel and try to return if we ever go to that area again.

13/11/2016

Our stay was very nice. Our room was spacious and clean. We would stay here again! The front desk people were pleasant and helpful. Our room was on the 4th floor overlooking the pool. The pool area was very nice, it appeared to be new. the seating area around the pool was great with cushioned furniture with a large gas fire area. There is a newly opened outside bar at the pool area as well. The breakfast was what you would expect, nothing delicious but many items to choose from. The breakfast bar was kept up and was meticulously clean.

"Family trip"

09/11/2016

I spent 4 nights here while meeting up with family staying at a condo in Siesta. This is a great location (near shopping and a 1.6 mile walk to the beach. There's a great restaurant infront of it called 'Harry's Sports Bar' with live entertainment. The hotel has a nice pool and hot tub as well as a bar with drink specials and appetizers. There's also a decent free breakfast.

"Extremely Well Run Hotel"

We really enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. Facilities for this class of Hotel were very very good. Spotless modern pool area with a well stocked pool bar. Reception staff warm friendly always available, accommodating and very competent. Breakfast included, good quality, stocked to the max. Never once did we require to ask for an item to be restocked bountiful comes to mind and we ate there for a whole week. Breakfast areas kept immaculately clean. Complimentary Coffee and popcorn available at all times cookies in the afternoon. Bedroom suite with sofa bed well appointed again clean and tidy good, maid service. Thanks to all the staff and management -- GOOD JOB!!!

The outdoor look of the hotel is not very nice (old property). However, the lobby, breakfast, heated pool, bar and of course rooms (which matters the most to me) where very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Great location super, commercial (US41 a.k.a Tamiami Trail). Free breakfast buffet, free shuttle to Siesta Key Beach, the Village, etc (they just ask you to tip the drivers that are very professional) and yes the beach is beautiful (I read is #1 beach in the USA) of course my 21 year old had to confirm online that fact and it was the number 1 in or until 2013. Now is #2. Number one is one beach in Oahu, Hawaii. Still awesome as a Floridian to have the 2nd best beach in the country at a driving distance. Go visit!!!

"Staff was accommodating and service was good"

Stayed at the hotel for two nights when I was in town for a funeral. Rooms are small, bathroom tiny but clean. Layout was a little odd in the room. The Complimentary breakfast was wonderful and the free popcorn in the lobby was a nice touch. Never got to try the 4pm cookies.

This is a standard best western hotel that is very much like the other best westerns. Comfortable beds, wifi and cable in room, hot water for the shower, AC, free breakfast, all the basics i expect in a room. The location is decent in the heart of sarasota on the mainland near the south bridge to get across to the key, but not on the key.

29/10/2016

We had a group of 35 people that stayed at this hotel for a wedding celebration. They were extremely accommodating to us and our needs while there. The breakfast was very good each morning, and the pool was nice, and we enjoyed the bar at the pool each day!! A real short walk to a bar and grill as well!! We all used the shuttle to get to the beach which worked out great. We will definitely stay here again!!

"Perfect Location To Visit Siesta Key!"

26/10/2016

Best Western Plus On US 41 @ Stickney Point Rd. is convenient, clean, friendly and free rides to the beach!! Excellent staff, hot breakfast was on point. Only 1 negative was no BYOB at the pool, you must purchase adult bevs at their bar inside the pool. HIGHLY recommend this hotel for your visit to Siesta Key!!

"Vacation in the sun"

26/10/2016

Best Western Siesta Key is a great little getaway- a very short drive to Siesta Key Beach. Hotel has a great pool & music at night and a great pool bar. Rooms are comfortable, nothing extraordinary, but lots of conveniences like a fridge & a microwave oven. Morning breakfast is great with lots of options & a lovely breakfast room. Close to shops & the hotel backs on to a Carrabbas restaurant. Good value for the money & there's even free popcorn!

"Location location location"

20/10/2016

This was our second stay here and every bit as good as the first. The breakfast is really good and tea and coffee available 24/7 in the lobby free of charge. The pool area is excellent. The location is great with lots of restaurants within walking distance and a retail shopping centre just over the road. Our only disappointment was the noisy air con.

"A surprising value"

5
18/10/2016

Although the rooms were a bit small, I hadn't expected such luxury at a modest price. Each bed had four pillows, and a super-comfortable duvet. There were plenty of towels and a good shower. Excellent AC. Fridge, microwave, WiFi and large TV. The pool was huge with a lovely bar and sitting area. Full breakfast, too, and coffee/tea available 24/7. The location was in a retail shopping area, but easy access to the beach by car. South Tamiami Trail is the main drag to picturesque downtown and waterfront marina/park(about 6 miles), or south to Venice, Naples, etc.. The front desk staff was extremely helpful in giving us maps and directions. Every imaginable eating spot nearby such as Red Lobster and Outback. Only downside: TVs in lobby and breakfast room were constantly blaring Fox News which some guests might find annoying and distasteful.

"Ok"

18/10/2016

Loud airconditioning. Felt more like a motel than a hotel. Good breakfast and the kids liked the live music at the pool and loved the free popcorn. In all the rooms felt a little outdated. But I guess you get what you pay for.

"Nice Stay"

4
17/10/2016

Nice Location to discover Sarasota Area by Car. Many Restaurants and Shopping near by in walking-distance. Free Shuttle to Beaches (but they ask for a tip). You can call them an they are there in 5 - 10 Minutes. Breakfast was really good. A lot to choose from. Should be something there for everyone.

"Good but a little noisey "

11/10/2016

Great position for all in Sarasota Walking distance to Carabas and Harry's Bar - Hooters over the road We are here for the golf and beach - so perfect position Pool bar good - jacuzzi - night time relax around the pool - with flamed fire - free popcorn and good breakfast - The only downside is the very noisey air conditioning - we complained - no solution so bought ear plugs!

"OVERPRICED"

1
10/10/2016

Rooms very small, staff unaccomodating, find a different hotel. Internet horrible, no weather channel which is needed as an evacuee of a hurricane. No pets. Only good thing is that it's in a good location. WAY too much money for a "closet" with a curtain. Haave to squeeze by computer chair everytime you go to a sink or a bathroom.

"Great stay! Really enjoyed"

09/10/2016

Great location close to highway, with dozens of highly rated restaurants within half mile radius. Nice friendly staff and comfy rooms. Our room overlook the large pool, sauna, and outdoor bar with fire feature. Standard room has king bed, 42" TV, adjustable a/c, blow dryer, desk, big chair, side table, iron, safe, even got fridge & microwave! Bathroom small but adequate & clean. Soft close toilet! WiFi weak but may just be our room. Breakfast served 7-10am is one of the best free hotel breakfasts ever! Omelettes, fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, breads/cereals, biscuit & gravy, bacon & sausage, juices, teas, coffee. The lobby is clean and well kept, with computers to use and free fresh popcorn, tea & coffee available anytime. Free shuttle service to Siesta Keys beach & village available 10am to 2am. But need to tip driver. Only 10 min drive to beach. I would definitely stay here again.

"Good stay "

4
09/10/2016

Very good location. A little bit noisy for the rooms facing the front of hotel due to garbage trucks every morning and very early. Good breakfast and very nice pool area. Rooms are decent sized and clean.

"In town for business "

07/10/2016

When we arrived there was big buzz about hurricane Matthew, hotel booked with guest from the east coast side of Florida, room clean and comfortable, fresh coffee 24 hours a day, breakfast very good, friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again.

"Siesta Key Getaway"

30/09/2016

We had never been to this area even though we only live less than 2 hours away. Since we are BW members, we picked this hotel. It is a great location, very clean and an excellent value for the money. They have popcorn, cookies and coffee available all day. The breakfast is top notch. The staff is very caring. there is a pool with a pool bar which is great.

"Location Location Location"

29/09/2016

This hotel had an amazing location for being a chain restaurant near Siesta Key (and also close to downtown Sarasota). I was able to get an amazing rate (~$80/night) and wouldn't have been happy if I had paid more for it. The staff were all very kind and the rooms were comfortable, but again you are in a Best Western. Your door opens up to the outside and the bathroom is just the basics. They do give you a 2 for 1 at the (small) pool bar for one evening, but as a warning, don't bring your drink near the pool, it has to stay far away from the water. All in all, I'd stay here again if I was able to get this rate.

"Staff great, hotel OK"

3
28/09/2016

Location is good, staff here great and very helpful, air con noisy, room ok has everything you need, set out like motel - with rooms opening onto outside corridors which we are not fans of, pool good.

"Great vacation to see our new Granddaughter!"

5
24/09/2016

The hotel was perfect! The front desk was so nice, hotel was clean and the pool was perfect. Breakfast was tasty. The only thing bad was the ice machine on the 2nd floor didn't work, so we had to go to the 1st floor for ice. We had a great stay and when we go back we will stay there again. Highly suggest you stay there too!

"What a great vacation stay"

5
23/09/2016

My husband and I stayed here for a few days while visiting Sarasota for our anniversary getaway. We were both very pleased with the hotel. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, pool was refreshing, and staff was friendly and helpful. Couldn't beat it for the price and the location. We are already planning to book again next year for another visit (my husband is from Sarasota so this is where we like to vacation).

"Great front desk help!"

4
13/09/2016

Katherine at the front desk graciously helped my husband and myself get into a room quickly so we could shower and attend a family gathering even though it was a little before official check-in time. We were very grateful.

"Wedding weekend"

5
13/09/2016

Spent the weekend here for a wedding and I was pleasantly surprised. I got a suite just in case someone needed to crash on my couch since we were across the street from the reception and we had so much room! If you need a little extra room for friends or to sprawl or its perfect and really not that much more money. Friends of mine had a king and loved it. Hotel was clean, service was prompt and there was a very nice sports bar right in front of the hotel for lunch or dinner. I will start here again.

"Excellent Customer Service and the Staff are very friendly!!!"

4
12/09/2016

We truly enjoyed the customer service they provided to us during our stay! All of the staff are very friendly and super nice people! The hot breakfast is great and has many items to choose from. Much better than a typical continental breakfast! The only improvement this hotel can make is the room cleanness. We felt the room were not that clean and it's getting aged and dated. The pool and hot tub is very enjoyable. Most people will feel comfortable to stay at this hotel! Awesome staff and service provided!!!

Enjoyed our stay at Best Western Siesta Key. Good location with restaurants neaby and not far from beach. Enjoyed free full breakfast and pool area with bar and entertainment. Free shuttle to beaches and restaurants in Siesta Key. Room and bed very comfortable but bathrooms were small. Only issue was room service was not provided during our 2 night stay. Overall nice hotel at a reasonable cost.

06/09/2016

We were a large party so we got 2 rooms, they were big enough and clean. Breakfast was good and we noticed that they rotate a few items depending on the day. The lady working there: Monica was very efficient and super friendly, she and my wife almost become BFF LOL. The Beach is about 5 minutes away, They have a courtesy shuttle service, but we decided to drive. The beach is one of the best no matter where you search and the hotel was good, we may be back.

"Great stay for the whole family."

04/09/2016

We had lots of people in town for our son's wedding. The location was perfect. Close to the beach and close to where the wedding/ reception was held. The breakfast in the morning was great as there were lots of children in the group and it was easy for parents to get everyone what they liked. I also enjoyed the popcorn in the lobby!

"My stay"

Breakfast was lovely, bed was comfortable, pool staff was cordial, vending machines always had what I wanted, maids were very helpful. The exterior lighting was adequate, the manager was very kind, the parking was free and well lit, there was a free shuttle to Siesta Key.

"Lovely place to stay"

31/08/2016

The grounds were very luscious and tropical. Very relaxing and accommodating. The work-out room had one of each of the typical machines and 2 TVs. Clean and spacious. Breakfast was a hit-many choices of food with an extra eating room.

"Really disappointed "

1
29/08/2016

Stayed here for one night to check out the siesta key beach. Check in was quick but not the friendliest. Room was poolside but with a car park view so that was a bit misleading on the agents part. Went for a drink at the bar and the rudest lady was serving. Waited 5 minutes before she even acknowledged me as she was busy filling her face with her lunch and chatting on her mobile. I reluctantly left a tip for her and went off to my room. Rooms were good, clean and nice bed. We didn't have the breakfast as we wanted to eat out of hotel. I had a little accident while there and the way it was dealt with was totally unacceptable. Have contacted head office about that and await a response. Really disappointed to choose a big brand hotel name and have such a poor experience.

"very nice hotel for the price"

5
29/08/2016

We came to Siesta Key for a quick one day stay. This hotel was a nice hotel for a reasonable price. The pool area is awesome with a great little Tiki- bar. The drive to the beach is very short and Siesta Key has a nice public access with plenty of parking or the hotel has a free taxi (tips only) that will take you to the beach or Siesta Village.

"Best Western.A good place to stay in Sarasota."

Was first trip to Gulf coast of Flordia and Sarasota for my wife and I. Had my travel agent select this Best Western hotel. We enjoyed are stay here. Found the property to be clean and well maintained. Noted a number of families also staying here during our visit. The hotel is no more than 10 minutes from the beach and restaurants are quite close, too. Hotel staff were very personable and helpful throughout our stay. A breakfast is provided each morning with a wide variety of food slections to meet everyones tastes. Overall, I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone traveling to Sarasota. It's a good place to stay that won't cost you a fortune and its centrally located near beach and resturants. In my opinion, can't go wrong in staying here either as a couple or as a family on vacation.

"Great place to stay for a weekend getaway"

The room were clean and the location is perfect. Breakfast is included and many choices are provided. You can walk next door for dinner or across the street and have a variety of places to chose from. There is a convenient shuttle that will take you and pick you up from the public beach or downtown area. The kids loved the pool and enjoyed the all day popcorn machine.

"Closest to #1 Beach - Siesta Key"

5
19/08/2016

I have been staying at this Hotel for about 6 or 7 years now, even before it was a Best Western. Its proximity to the beach, shopping and tourist sites cannot be beat. I have always found the hotel to be very clean, comfortable and have a very friendly staff. I will continue to stay here for as long as I vacation in Sarasota.

"great time in siesta key"

18/08/2016

Siesta Key beach is one of the finest beaches in our country and staying in the Best Western in Siesta Key is not only a great value but also a great experience. The staff is warm and friendly and go out of their way to accomadate you. Beds and pillows are comfortable and the rooms are clean. They provide a wonderful breakfast with nice seating. Pool area is very, very nice. As an extra nice touch, the staff makes fresh popcorn from an old fashioned machine that sits right in the lobby so that when you come back from the beach, you can fill up your own bag of popcorn. Warm cookies in the later afternoon put a smile on our grandchildren's faces along with the delicious popcorn. This is a wonderful place and we will return here when we can get back to Florida.

"This what not a pleasure trip"

5
13/08/2016

This trip was for a funeral; the Sarasota National Cemetery is about a 20 minute drive; Stickney Point turns in to Clark road going east. Upon check-in, I was afforded a late check-out since I was not sure of the time frame. The woman at the front desk was most helpful and even offered to extend the time an additional 30 minutes. I have been there before and have been impressed with the landscaping. The hotel staff is friendly and even the other guests make it a definite location for a friendly atmosphere. The only draw back was that I did not find out until 6 AM the next morning that the coffee maker in the room did not work. So it was an hour wait for coffee along with a great breakfast selection that is offered.

"Great hospitality and fine location"

08/08/2016

This hotel is exactly as advertised. Small rooms but very comfortable and ideally equipped. Free parking, microwave, fridge, good wifi strength and powerful shower. Rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Pool area clean with nice tiki bar. The location is excellent. Just over the causeway to siesta key with fantastic beaches and a beautiful village - 10 minutes drive approximately. Siesta beach is naturally great (rated Americas number one) but Turtle Beach is equally good and is worth a visit. We still prefer Lido key which is 25 minutes north. The hotel has Plenty of eating places near by and super markets across the road. Large pub / grill next door ( Harry's) with extremely helpful and happy staff- highly recommended. We would stay in this hotel again if in the area - good value for money.

"Great hotel/motel if visiting Siesta Key beach!"

5
30/07/2016

Stayed here for only 1 night as we were stopping for a day at Siesta Key beach before heading to the east coast for a cruise. This motel has the look of the older type hotels/motels that used to find along the interstates. However, it is extremely clean, and extremely well kept up. The staff as very friendly, the pool was in great condition, and overall it was a nice place to stay. The rooms are small with the old style window a/c units, but that is just because the property has the old style motel vibe to it. Don't let that detract from you though. It's clean, it's quiet, and its very close to the beach - about a 5 or 10 minute drive. I believe the hotel may have a shuttle that runs to/from the beach - but we didn't use it. The entire Siesta Key area was unlke any other beach area/town I've been to. The whole area is nicely decorated, very clean, no typical beach trashy areas, etc. Is a really great beach to visit. If you find yourself visiting Siesta Key beach for a day or two consider staying here.

Enjoyed our stay very much! Rooms a little small! But clean and updated! Comfortable beds, nice cold air conditioning, great service! Loved the bar attached to the pool! And the bartender was great! She was very helpful with Dinner arrangements! Will definetly stay again!

I thought the hotel was very nice; and the staff was nice. The location of the hotel was great. We were not located on the beach but "Johnny's" free shuttle service was EXCELLENT. They picked us up and returned us to the hotel each time. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Siesta Key.

"Great location and nice pool bar"

28/07/2016

Try to get a room on the upper floors (we had a room on the third floor). Nice standard, just too bad the fridge didn't had a freezer department. The pool bar, located next to the pool is nice and the staff is very friendly. The complementary wi-fi is ok, not more. Another great thing about the hotel is that it's located next to Harry's Sports Bar and a 10 mins stroll to the closest Publix.

We were very happy staying here. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable (great beds and pillows). The staff were professional and accommodating. It's located very close to the Stickney Bridge and the beaches. We'd stay there again. Especially if we get the great reasonable price we got from Kayak.com.

This Hotel is about a mile and half from the public beaches. It is also walking distance or very short ride to excellent eating. The hotel is very clean and the staff is very nice. The room l was in was a king bed and sofa sleeper. The sink is outside of the bathroom. Bathroom was small but ok. They have executive rooms where the bed is in a separate room then the sofa sleeper. They have free popped popcorn all day long and breakfast is excellent and hot. Full eggs and meat, bread, cereal etc. The pool is nice and has a gas fire pit and towels. If you go to the Public beaches go early 9am to get parking it is free or go after 4 and get some one leaving. We parked in the second lot that has more bathrooms and a beach carpet so you don't have to walk on the sand. Siesta key beach is the best we went to Turtle beach for a look not as nice. As far as food if you like Chinese we went Taste of Hong Kong it was surprising good. I am a NYC boy and l love good Chinese this was that good. There is also a nice ice cream shop called Abel's really nice too. They come around and give you ice water while your eating. There were also other good restaurants in the same area that received good reviews from T.A. Thank you Nicole and Mr. Petersen and staff sorry couldn't see your name tags without my glasses. :) Enjoy!

I think what made this hotel very special is the team that works there, particularly Kevin who is the world's friendliest receptionist. After a long and boring transatlantic flight we just wanted to get a room and relax. When we arrived at the hotel Kevin gave us a really warm welcome and told us everything there is to know about the hotel. He really did cheer us up! The hotel itself is very clean and very well maintained. We loved the small garden with the swinging chairs. Being from Europe we really liked the layout of the hotel and the fact that room entrances were from the street and not from internal corridor. The pool is large with perfect water temperature and plenty of sunbeds around it. There is also a nice bar right by the pool which was pretty popular with hotel guests. We were very impressed by the fact that fresh fruit was available 24/7 in the dining area, as well as free coffee and tea. You can also get free popcorn by reception. The breakfast was also very good with plenty to choose from. I really loved the bacon that they make at this hotel. I've got to say, I've never eaten anything like that before. A couple of times they served burritos which tasted like they were homemade! Our room was very spacious, in fact it was bigger than any other room we had in European hotels and other hotels that we've been to in Florida. We had a king bed and it was very comfortable, so comfortable that I would come back to this hotel just for the quality of sleep! The size of TV was also very impressive. The bathroom was very clean and I absolutely loved the showerhead which had several settings including the massage function. The WiFi coverage was also very good and my phone and laptop never lost signal at the hotel premises (they do change passwords on Friday afternoons though). There are also two computers and a printer in the lobby. This was very helpful as we needed to print out our return tickets. And finally – hotel's location is just perfect. It takes about 7 minutes to drive to Siesta Key Beach and about the same to Turtle Beach. If you don't fancy driving you can walk to the Beach Access 12 in just 20 minutes. The hotel offers free shuttle service to Siesta Key (just give a tip to the driver) which is very convinient if you want to go out for a drink or don't fancy driving yourself. There are a few restaurants and a Publix within 10 minute walking distance from the hotel and Sarasota downtown is about 25 minutes' drive. All in all we are very happy with this hotel and would visit again!

"Better than usual for a Best Western"

22/07/2016

Don't think this is Siesta Key, it isn't. It is only a drive away so convenient for visiting. There is a really nice pool and pool bar a perfect end to the day. The adjacent food outlets are of a good standard and we stayed 2 nights and found an Italian restaurant one night and a steak bar the next.

"Affordable, clean & convenient"

5
20/07/2016

If you're looking for a clean, affordable hotel that is convenient to the Siesta Key beaches then this is the place to stay. They have a fitness center, free full breakfast, a nice pool with a bar and a free shuttle to the Siesta Key beaches & village. It's also convenient to nearby stores and restaurants including one in front of the hotel. This was our 4th stay here and we plan to return.

"The only Great thing is location."

11/07/2016

Location great. everything else standard to low. Terrible experience with night clerk SCOTT, he would not provide additional blankets for three days straight of asking, got really confrontational and even threatened my wife. Only reason cops were not called is because I felt bad for the old, rude and crippled man. When we spoke to the manager instead of offering some sort of apology either by word or even in the form of discount of some sort since we stayed for 4 nights, all we got was more excuses. It's sad because even though the hotel is old and room carpets obviously need replacing, you can tell that maintenance does its best to keep everything running the best possible. Overall location is the best thing for this hotel. I would love to get a call from the GM to really go over the details, because even though I'm upset I'm still holding back because a couple of employees should not tarnish the reputation of hotel. (I sent request to contact through hotels webpage in case MR GM you want to talk to a disgruntle customer that would love to improve customer service in your hotel)

"one of the best hotel for the price. Clean, professional and helpful staff"

5
07/07/2016

we stayed overnite after a four day weekend at Orlando. the hotel is close to the beach and easy to find. The outside looks average but you cannot beat the price to the professional service, and cleanliness. The room is clean and spotless. Bathroom is so clean and cleaner than the very expansive Marrriot and Sheraton in Orlando. the front desk manager Margaret was helpful, polite and friendly. She gave us suggestions where to go and offered to lend us two beach chairs and two beach towels since we were traveling through Sarasota. we spent a whole morning at the beach , a paradise needless to say. Breakfast was plentiful and great. When I travel, I like a clean hotel room and a clean bathroom. I got that. We will definitely come back to Sarasota and stay in this hotel. None can beat the combination: cleanliness, friendly, great breakfast. Hotel guests look like they have stayed here before. families observed playing card games at the breakfast room. Its a friendly hotel. Margaret, thanks for being helpful and providing such great services to a traveler.

"Room Smell"

3
06/07/2016

The room had a bad smell of mildew. The mattresses were very uncomfortable. The rooms were not cleaned until very late in the afternoon each day. We had to search out towels each day for showers. The free breakfast was above average from others we have had. The pool and pool bar were nice, although the pool water was too warm.

We had a very good experienced staying at Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway. Excellent location close to all sort of businesses, Restaurants, Grocery Stores, Shopping Centers, etc. Clean rooms, refrigerator, microwave and safe in the room. In my opinion, the beds are antiquated. They need to be replaced and fast. They are too hard and do not provide a nice night of rest. Very professional and courteous staff at check in and check out. Kevin and Margaret at the desk, and Sobeira, our room attendant, are employees that dignify and represent extremely well the motto of Best Western Hotels. Outstanding hot breakfast every morning from 7 AM to 10 AM. Although we do not drink alcohol, there is a full bar located at the pool side to please their patrons. The pool is big enough to accommodate a good number of guests. There is also a hot tub that accommodate six people at the time and a gas fire pit for cooler nights. Plenty of car parking spaces outside the building.

01/07/2016

Great location close to restaurants, and shopping. It's more than 1 mile to Siesta Key public beach but less than 2 miles. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was nothing fancy but it was clean and maid service cleaned and replenished towels daily. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioner a little noisy. With the Florida heat, it'd be nice if the rooms had an overhead fan. The only trouble I had was the door locking me out on my second night of stay. When I slid the card key, it lit up red. I went to the front desk and they reactivated the card key and mentioned that if it was placed near a cell phone, which it was, sometimes inactivates the card key. I later that evening stepped out for dinner and when I came back couldn't get in the room. This time the key card would light up green but I couldn't open the door. The Maintenance guy (white male) came and took a look and didn't find anything wrong with it. The following day, after coming up from breakfast, again I was locked out of the room. The card key was still lighting up green but I couldn't open the door. Again I went back to the front desk and explained that once again I was locked out of my room. This time there was another maintenance guy there. He had a spanish accent. He immediately mentioned that he knew what was wrong and followed me up to the room. He pushed the door opened and then showed me what was causing me to get locked out of the room... I had not completely folded over the inside lock, therefore, it kept getting stuck! :p Other than that, great value for the price and the free breakfast was okay. They offered eggs, pancakes, stale pastries, toast, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, grits, sausage, bananas, oranges, yogurt, milk, coffee, tea, juice, etc. They kept replenishing breakfast as it ran out, which was awesome! Would definitely stay again! :)

Very considerate people. check in and at check out. have bar at pool. very clean hotel. everything about the hotel is nice. close to siesta beach and the Sunday Drum Circle. if you are older, I would maybe recommend the front of the hotel, verses the pool area. kids can get rather rowdy at times. Over all however, I think for the value and safety, this is the hotel.

27/06/2016

This hotel is great was clean comfy beds and pillows no musty smell the only thing I found wrong with the room was a little to small for 4 people,Breakfast was ok pancake machine was out of mix 2 days in a row, gravy for biscuits was just ok. We did use the free shuttle to the beach that was nice since we were never here before. This hotel is so close to the ocean we would definitely come back maybe I can upgrade to a bigger room we will be back

"Good for a weekend."

27/06/2016

One of those hotels to stay just once. Overall good experience. Average breakfast. Great fitness center with all you need in just 4 machines and free standing dumbbells set. Good sleep quality. Everything is in short distance with our rented car and gps. Great experience at Siesta Beach, but try to arrive before 11:00 AM since parking lot is limited. Next time will try another hotel or apt condo closer to beach.

"Great location, super price... very nice"

4
27/06/2016

Pros: - Clean, neat, super friendly at the front desk, very accommodating - Great price (we stayed in late June 2016) and the posted rate was 120.00, but we received a discount because we were AAA members that brought the room rate to 108.00 (plus tax of course) - Breakfast was included, which saved us some $$ (more below on this under the cons) - Room was clean, sufficient, nothing fancy but nice - Pool and outside patio was very nice, and no one was ever in the pool when we were there! The pool is a bit small, and it's nice that the bar is nearby the pool, and there is a fire pit (propane gas over rocks) surrounding by nice comfy chairs. Cons: - The "free" shuttle really wasn't free. It was recommended that we tip $3 to $6 dollars per person for the shuttle to the beach or other places nearby, but with four of us, that seemed a bit too much, so we didn't use it... - Breakfast was included, but we aren't carb people, we were only able to eat the eggs. There was no "meat" (i.e. sausages, bacon or ham), only sausage gravy. Yes it is a little thing, but it's something to note if you don't consume sugars and carbs - Room next to us was a bit noisy overnight with doors slamming. We understand that this will happen, but again, something to note. - A/C in the room wasn't quite cold enough, even on the lowest setting (difficult to sleep because of this) - Wi-fi is free, but super slow; guess better than nothing. So here's something else to note: The front desk gives you a ticket to get a "buy one get one free drink" at the outside bar near the pool which was very nice. When we got there, we were only allowed to drink beer or wine. When we asked the female bartender if we could use it to get a "well" mixed drink, she didn't answer, and instead repeated, "BEER or WINE." We got two beers and threw one away. Could have been handled differently and even the one beer wasn't cheap. Bottom line: We'd stay here again since the Siesta Key beach is simply the BEST... super soft, cool sand that feels like you are walking on cool flour. The waves are nice and low (especially for kids) and the water was clear blue/green and gorgeous. You do have to walk a bit to get to the beach from the parking lot, but everyone at the pavilion is very nice and accommodating (plus parking is free, if you can find a spot!)

"We will return!"

5
27/06/2016

You won't be disappointed! We were welcomed the minute we walked through the doors. The smell of fresh popcorn and freshly baked cookies was wonderful. It only took us a few minutes to check in, and our room was ready. The hotel staff is very nice and extremely accommodating. We used the pool and the pool bar, while enjoying music by a lovely young singer, Emily Ross. The Best Western is close to several restaurants, and Harry's is within walking distance. It only took us a few minutes to get to the beach. I highly recommend this hotel!

"An oldie but goodie"

24/06/2016

The Best Western Siesta Gateway title for this hotel is somewhat misleading--the hotel is on the mainland about 5-6 miles from Siesta Key. So, you will need a car to get to the beach or Siesta Village, although there are shuttles available if you just can't spring for a car. The hotel itself is old, probably from the '60's or 70's, but meticulously maintained and VERY clean. If you are a person who wants modern, this hotel will not work for you. However, if you are a person who doesn't care about decor so much, this sparkling clean hotel with impeccable service should work for you. For example, the first night we were there the sink was blocked because the stopper could not be raised--it was broken. We reported this at the front desk as we were leaving for dinner and when we came back, it was fixed. Also, I requested an additional luggage rack and got it immediately--almost scared me it came so fast! I will definitely stay here again if I am in the vicinity, even though the drive to Siesta Key is not my favorite--the money we saved by staying at the Best Western plus the great service have made me a real fan.

Greetings DylanThomasP - Thank you for your recent review and your accolades regarding the cleanliness and service of our 25 year young, 4 story, 120 room hotel built in 1989 well located under a mile from Siesta Key beaches. We're not certain where on Siesta Key you might have been going that would be 6 miles away. It makes one wonder whether you may be reviewing the wrong hotel. A review of our mapped location will verify that we are 9/10 of a mile from public beach access 12 on Siesta Key and just 2.5 miles from the public beach on the north end and yes, we are well connected to all points on the island with our on demand shuttle service. We are glad you enjoyed your stay that you would recommend and return to our property.

Great hotel to stay in. A little higher on the price than I usually spring for & not as close to the beach as I had thought from the description & reviews, however, still a nice stay & very close to the beach (less than 10 minutes driving). I appreciated the free shuttle service offered to area attractions from 10 am until 2 am. I didn't take advantage of the service but thought it responsible of the hotel for those night owls needing to be driven home, but also nice for those who choose not to fight parking issues. Great staff, very helpful & polite. Everything was very clean, rooms were not smelly (AC was on when I entered the room, which helps). Lots of shopping & AMC theater within 15 minutes. Breakfast was very awesome! All the usual continental items plus bacon, biscuits & gravy & western omelets. I enjoyed the 2 spacious dining rooms, one family oriented with tables & 4 + chairs, the other with a long, tall table, seating for 2 & a large tv screen. Oh yes, by request made the night before, I was able to get a to go breakfast bag for my 5 am departure (banana, orange, granola bar & water). Simple, but very much appreciated! Free popcorn in the lobby & I received a bogo ticket for beer or wine at the pool side bar. The pool area was very nice, clean, a little small but lots of comfortable seating. Easy access, right on Hwy 41 so easy to get to I75 & other major roads. Airport is a little far for an early morning flight, but very doable & easy to navigate. I would recommend this hotel & would stay here again.

19/06/2016

Family member passed so we wanted to stay close to the family on Siesta. Breakfast was dissapointing, (what happened to regular scrambled eggs?), room just plain beat up. Shuttle was very convenient and the best part of our stay.

SiestaHotelMgr, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Greetings MargoHunt H - Thank you for your recent review of our hotel property. We are surprised by your comments regarding breakfast since it is the breakfast that typically receives the most accolades in addition to the service that is provided by staff. Breakfast is rotated every 3 days with the menu including an egg (omelette, scrambled or egg and meat burrito) and a meat (sausage, bacon, sausage gravy) in addition to freshly made oatmeal, made to order pancakes, cereals, freshly baked pastry, yogurts, breads, biscuits and several other items - all complimentary to our guests every morning. You may have been to breakfast on a day that scrambled eggs was not on the menu. Since we typically host many families and guests who stay 3 days or more, we heard having this variety was important to them. Thank you for staying with us and hope that you would choose us again in the future if you return to Sarasota.

18/06/2016

Nothing special, but clean, pleasant, helpful personnel and a solid breakfast. In the breakfast room, the TV was tuned to Fox and the denigration of the President and the glorification of the disgusting nominee. When I asked about it, I was told that personnel were under orders not to turn it off. I suggested the weather channel or another neutral channel, but was turned down. I do not believe that a hotel environment ought to be a location to push propaganda. I won't be back.

We were so pleasantly surprised when we checked in to this hotel. It is one of the nicest, if not the nicest, hotel I've ever stayed in. The rooms were updated and beautiful, bed extremely comfortable. The staff was polite, accommodating and extremely friendly. The breakfast is great, tons of options and they keep the chafing dishes full throughout the entire designated breakfast time. The pool bar and pool itself are immaculate with friendly bartenders. The outdoor fireplace is such an elegant and nice touch. Very convenient to Siesta Key beaches and other area amenities without the Siesta Key Beach hotel prices. Great value for the money; don't think I will ever stay anywhere else when visiting Siesta Key.

11/06/2016

We stayed for two nights over the memorial day weekend. The hotel handled the large crowds quite well. It was mostly quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was good with a nice variety of items and had a good amount of space to handle the large families. The pool area was excellent and we spent an afternoon listening to a young lady that was very entertaining. If you go to the beach on a weekend and plan on parking go early. We arrived at 9:30 and parking was full. Overall stay was excellent and a good value.

SiestaHotelMgr, Owner at BEST WESTERN PLUS Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Greetings Susan E - Thank you for your recent review and although we do take guest comments seriously, yours unfortunately does not deserve merit. It would be the intention of any competent hotel staff to sell rooms at regular rate when there is very little or no inventory available. That is perfectly normal in most industries. Your inability to understand this simple concept is very well explained in your comments, particularly since you believe it has to do with the brand of Best Western or the fact that you ride a motorcycle, which of course, it does not.

04/06/2016

People who spoke Spanish were in the room next to us 129# and a small kid was crying off and on from 1-2a.m. At least because it woke us up and we smelled strong smoke. I could hear a drunk Mexican man grunting and moaning and a woman hushing the child. I am afraid to go to sleep. There is an adjoining door with a small, weak, deadbolt on it and when I listened and my friend woke and started blabbing their noisy crying and moaning and yelling went silent. I am prepared to call 911 if the smoke gets worse and the child cries out one more time. This is my last hotel stay in Sarasota.??

great value ...if early sleep is important then try and get a room on other side of hotel... tiki bar at pool is open to public and generally speaking the outsiders have little respect for paying customers

SiestaHotelMgr, Owner at BEST WESTERN PLUS Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Greetings Charles H - Thank you for your most recent review. Your comments indicate that you could not sleep prior to 10 PM since our pool bar and pool were still open. Although we respect the fact that this may be an issue for some guests, the entire space closes down at 10 PM which is typical for all hotels. With our without the bar, there is noise at our pool until then. Generally, this is the most desirable side of the hotel since it has pleasant views and accessibility to the hot tub as well.

This was a great hotel - clean, comfortable, and fairly conveniently situated. The pool was nice and the breakfasts and the free all day coffee and popcorn were a nice touch. It was a bit of a drive (15 mins or so) from downtown Sarasota but close to SIesta Key, where we spent most of our time.

01/06/2016

We wanted something fairly close to beach, and Sarasota sights without paying the premium of being on Siesta or Lido Key. Reviews of this property were accurate and we had no complaints. Poolside, looking down on the pretty landscape with 'hidden' seating, or the immaculate pool with towels provided, or late afternoon live music on a Friday afternoon, sipping a cold drink from the poolside bar - one could imagine oneself somewhere far more exotic than a few steps away from some small strip malls. But a convenient walk to those stores provide some dining choices as well as Abel's ice cream for an end of day cone! Front desk clerks were pleasant and helpful; the full breakfast (with a change in hot eggs/meats daily) was good with adequate seating and well tended. While we didn't use the free (tip-oriented) shuttle to the beach - we were glad it was there. The room was clean, well-maintained and we had good wifi throughout the complex. We spent three nights and stay here again if in the area.

This was a very lovely experience. The staff was very friendly and quite helpful. The room was clean, bed was very comfortable, and it had many amenities. There was a free breakfast in the morning with many options of food, you receive a two drink gift card for the bar at the pool, and there is free transportation to Siesta Key provided by a local company. Not only that, there is an excellent restaurant and sports bar in front of the hotel that has wonderful food and lively music (which you cannot hear unless you are outdoors). They also have a business center with the free use of their computers, plus fresh popcorn snacks available. All in all, a lovely place to stay for the price.

The room air conditioners are great, and the pool is inviting. I could ramble on but I think most get the idea( I really like the place). Its near the beach and many restaurants are near by.

Clean, comfortable, attractively decorated room. Very nice and spacious pool and lounge area. Easy parking. Restaurant adjacent to hotel and shopping and more restaurants right across street. Shuttle to beautiful Siesta Key Beach. Free popcorn, cookies, coffee all day. Safe to store valuables. Computers for guests to use. Many breakfast options - not just continental. Friendly staff.

"They have it about 80% right"

We have stayed at this hotel before. We like how quiet it is and the rooms are clean and equipped with the basics. The lobby popcorn machine is a hit with our 5 year old and there is nice, relaxing steel drum music played by the pool/bar. We HATED the breakfast buffet (powdered eggs ruined it) and the OJ was bad, toaster broken. If they revamped this feature they would earn an extra star from us. Great location.

"Better last year"

21/05/2016

We were staying 4 nights, we love the pool and the bar next beside it. It is good located for restaurants nearby, but a 5 min ride to downtown. The sad part: The breakfast was better last year, with more options and fresh fruit salad etc. Our a/c didn't do a proper job in de-humidify our room, and a pretty noisy unit as well.

SiestaHotelMgr, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Greetings Pilotola - Thank you for your recent review. We apologize about your A/C unit and wish you would have let us know so we could address your issue during your stay. The breakfast comments are surprising to us since the number of items have increased (we've added freshly made oatmeal with all the condiments; freshly made pancakes; biscuits and gravy everyday; fresh pastry and donuts) along with the quality. There are actually 3 fruit choices on the breakfast bar daily - more than last year - including fruit cup in the fridge. It's possible that you didn't have the opportunity to explore all of these new items but do hope you return to us in the future.

"Clean, affordable & close to the beach!"

21/05/2016

This was our third stay and we have another stay planned for July. The staff is nice & helpful, the room was clean and the hotel is located only one mile from the beach. There's a free shuttle service that will take you to & from the Siesta Key beaches so you don't have to worry about parking--just remember to tip them! There are stores & restaurants close by--less than a mile, some within walking distance.

"Close to beach and everything else you may need"

21/05/2016

My Caddy and I were in Sarasota for a Disc Golf Tournament and wanted to stay somewhere close to it all. The beaches were right over the bridge. Plenty of shopping and restaurants in walking distance to Hotel.

"Keep coming back!"

19/05/2016

I think this is the third time that we have been at this Best Western Plus, but they seem to get a lot of repeat guests, at least from the people we talked to at the bar. We go down to visit ailing relatives, so a convenient location works for us. Best Western is not that far from the airport, close to the beach for a quick walk in the morning or late afternoon. The idea that the breakfast (very good) is included works for us.The Sandbar lounge is a great place to unwind. Meets every thing we can use.

"Clean place to stay with some perks"

17/05/2016

This hotel was just ok, a clean place to stay. Everything worked and no complaints about the room itself. As for the location, its not far from the beach, if you drive. Nothing to really do at the hotel but swim. Pool was nice and warm. They had an on-site bar which wasn't too loud or crowded and the bartender was really helpful. Free popcorn all the time. Free cookies at 4. The breakfast was free too, wasn't the greatest but still was something. A few restaurants within walking distance, but definitely have to take your car. Johnnie's free ride is free, but with a tip, so not really free. All in all wasn't bad stay

"Way better than expected!"

I'm always a little wary of properties that have some negative reviews in the last six months so I read them thoroughly and decide to try it or not. Very glad we tried this hotel!! I was mostly worried about the complaints regarding check in staff (since they are your greatest resource if you need something or if there is something wrong with the room), but I can honestly say that Kevin at the front desk was welcoming, incredibly helpful and went out of his way to look up attractions as we were talking about them while standing near him. The hotel itself was great and met our needs perfectly. All rooms are outdoor facing but we felt safe (biggest concern) and didn't hear any outside noise. The property felt very clean and although we didn't spent time at the pool we did check it out and it seemed to have a fun crowd gathering. It is also so close to the most amazing beach I've ever been to. In addition to the free parking and buffet breakfast (very typical Best Western breakfast- continental plus hot options, eggs/sausage/pancakes), there was coffee, tea and popcorn in the lobby all day. I left there very impressed and definitely glad we gave it a try. (Booked through Priceline).

"Really clean and had a great breakfast for not being a resort! Price was great!!!"

17/05/2016

We had very clean accommodations! The queen bed was fantastically comfortable, the pillows were great, friendly service and the breakfast was great. The bar by the pool was very spendy for the weak cocktails, but that was the only issue. Pool was really nice and clean also!! Would easily stay here again!!! Hotel has free shuttle service that drops off in Siesta Key and picks up in Siesta Key... Any location like a taxi... Only need to tip!!! It was great after a night of cocktails in Siesta Key... Safe!!

"Great hotel for the money."

16/05/2016

Nice clean facility, rooms were more than I expected, staff was very accommodating. Complementary breakfast was better than most, and free shuttle to the beach and Siesta Key Village. The hotel exceeded my expectations. I would definately reccommend this hotel.

"Great location. Nice Hotel. Nice Breakfast."

5
16/05/2016

Was pleasantly surprised for a Best Western. This was an excellent choice. Breakfast food was much better than some of the higher end hotel "Hot Breakfast" offerings. Will definitely stay here again next time we go to Siesta Key and will possibly stay an extra day.

We have stayed here several times. The location is great. Close to the beaches, restaurants, shopping. Breakfast is included in the price. They have free wifi and HBO in the room. There is a nice pool and hot tub.

13/05/2016

My husband and I were vacationing in the Florida area, travelling from Orlando down the west coast, across to Miami and up the east coast. We planned to spend one night in the Best Western - we ended up staying three! My son and his girlfriend joined us for the last two nights! Fab hotel, great shuttle service to the beach, excellent breakfast, loved the music by the pool. Special thanks to Kevin at Reception who was happy to help with our (many!) enquiries. Will be back next year and not just for three days!

"Good price, 3 miles from beach "

12/05/2016

If you want fancy, this hotel is not for you. The rooms are fine, nothing great. Rooms do have a mini fridge and microwave which is a huge plus! We used it often for leftovers and drinks. There was a free breakfast, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, doughnuts, toast, English muffins, bagels, yogurt and pancake station. There was also, sausage, bacon, sausage gravy, biscuits, eggs (omelets, scrambled, fried) depending on the day. The eggs were definitely fake and not very tasty. The pool area was nice with lounge chairs, table and chairs and cushioned patio furniture around a fire pit. There is also a bar at the pool with friendly staff. The only downfall to the pool is that it is open to the public so on the weekends it seemed to be a little bit more crowded with non-hotel guests. I would most definitely stay here again. Location is nice, walking distance to a few restaurants, pharmacy and other stores. Only a short drive to the beach. You can also get a free ride from Johnnys free ride to anywhere in siesta key.

"Great place to stay"

10/05/2016

We stayed at this hotel for a week and were very impressed. Very clean, great customer service at front desk. They offer the largest free breakfast we have ever had at a hotel. Eggs, bacon, cereal, bagels, fruit, oatmeal even pancake maker. And the freshly baked cookies at 4 everyday were so good! It was about a 5 minute drive to the Siesta Key beach. The area has a free shuttle company which will take you anywhere on Siesta Key and pick you up when you call them.. very convenient.. they run on tips. BTW Siesta beach is gorgeous! We were woken up 5am several mornings from garbage truck emptying dumpsters. We were on the 3rd floor on non pool side so might want to stay on pool side to avoid noise.

Location, location, location - beach, restaurants, entertainment and access to major highway - couldn't asked for a better value or location. The breakfast selection would please anyone from children to adults. Nice pool area with bar. And there was even live entertainment at the pool.

The perfect getaway from the cold and icy Northern Maine weather! This Gateway Best Western was so conveniently located and staffed with the friendliest people which certainly helped us tremendously on our first visit to Siesta Key! Already looking forward to our next visit.

"Value for money"

08/05/2016

The hotel sits on the main route onto Siesta Key. It has good links to Sarasota and good, basic amenities. A pool with bar is well serviced and can be a bit noisy during the day, especially if there is live music. However, as the pool & bar shut at 10:00pm the noise isn't a problem at night. Whilst the hotel doesn't provide food other than at breakfast, there are plenty of bars and restaurants near by. Certainly use this hotel again.

"I traveled alone and had a very nice time."

06/05/2016

Had no problems. Everything was very nice. I enjoyed the accommodations and felt very secure traveling alone. The breakfast was very good and I enjoyed the popcorn. The staff at the pool bar were very friendly.

Hotel is close to Siesta Beach a beautiful beach ( 15 minute walk) and close to highway and Tamiani highway. No restaurant but 2 nice ones very short walk. The service was very good. Decent little workout area with dumbells. .

"Nice Hotel, Good Location"

01/05/2016

This is a nice hotel with a good location for Siesta Key. The pool area is large and it has a good hotel breakfast. The only down side is our room was a little small, especially the bathroom. The room was modern and updated, but not the bathroom.

"Great service"

5
01/05/2016

The hotel has been recently renovated and has a very nice breakfast area, pool, poolside bar and has several computer stations. Parking is free. Our room with a garden view was nicely appointed and spotless. The bed had a very comfortable mattress; firm, but not too firm. They provide Pantene shampoo and coditioner. The breakfast in the morning is included and offers a great variety of choices, including fresh pancakes, fresh fruit, breakfast burrito's, yoghurt and the other usual breakfast options. Another treat is the pop-corn cart in the lobby where you can help yourself to freshly popped pop-corn. All the staff, from the front desk to the cleaning staff, was very helpful, courteous and friendly. The front desk staff was especially knowledgeable and accommodating, assuring our stay was pleasant and comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located near a shopping center and there is a sports bar/restaurant next door. It's less then 10 minutes driving (or free shuttle ride - just pay a tip) to Siesta key beach (with it's powdery soft, white quartz sand), or a 15 minute drive to downtown Sarasota (depending on traffic). We would definitely stay here again!

"Comfortable, relaxed"

29/04/2016

I stayed here with my father for our few days in Siesta Key. The shuttle to the beach and to the Village was very handy, and at this time of year the car park at the beach was empty, so no problems accessing it. There are plenty of shops around, and a couple of restaurants within walking distance. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

"Short drive to Siesta Key!"

5
28/04/2016

I went down to Siesta Key for a friends wedding and rather than staying in condos in Siesta Key, I decided to stay in this hotel which was just a short 5 minute drive over the bridge into town. The staff was very friendly and accommodating! The hotel was very clean and up-to-date. It was nice to have a fridge and microwave in the room. The one recommendation I would make is to make sure you are not in a room near the elevator if you are a light sleeper. As soon as morning hits, the elevator is in use non-stop. Other than that, everything was great!

"WOW"

28/04/2016

This Best Western Plus was one of the nicest hotel I have stayed in. I thought it was a 5 star hotel. The suite [I wouldn't call it a room] was spacious, spotless, lovely, and had all the amenities necessary, It is in a great location and very close to the Ford & Edison Estates. The breakfast and breakfast room was also exceptional. The staff were all professional, friendly and helpful. It was a great experience.

"Great to be so close to SIesta Key beach but not pay "beachy" prices"

24/04/2016

Convenient location, great restaurant right in front of the hotel building and walking distance to Abel's ice cream parlor. Front desk staff members were exceeding helpful. Enjoyed the poolside bar facility as well. Great for a glass of wine before bedtime.

"Great Place To Stay"

23/04/2016

We were so pleased with our week long stay at Best Western Plus Siesta Gateway! Our room was clean and freshened every day, Katrina at the Sand Dollar Bar was a delight, the pool and deck were a relaxing place to unwind each evening. The staff was more than helpful and breakfast offered some healthy choices beyond just baked goodies.

22/04/2016

Just stayed one night, but had a great time. The pool bar was fun, the desk people were great and the room was clean and comfortable. Sarasota and the surrounding areas are fun places to visit. Of course, Yoder's is a must while visiting Sarasota.

"Nice Surpise"

20/04/2016

I was pleasantly surprised by the professional and courteous staff at this venue. The hotel was very clean, upbeat and fresh. Room was fine, Great area around the heated pool and outside fireplace. Nice small bar. Probably the best continental breakfast we've experienced at a Best Western. Impressive array of foods , with every food need considered. I am pretty hard to please at most of these breakfasts......not this one. A large variety of both cold and warm foods, many with diet consciousness considered. I recommend this place. Only drawback was that it was not on the beach. However, a free shuttle bus is available to take guests to beaches, restaurants, etc.

Rooms are clean and recently updated, seems quiet despite being full. Breakfast is good with an assortment of hot foods, baked goods and cereals. Pool is small for hotel size. Turtle Beach and Siesta Beach less than 10 minutes away. Hotel does offer shuttle for tips

SiestaHotelMgr, Owner at BEST WESTERN PLUS Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Greetings dpenci - Thank you for your recent review of our hotel property. Although your comments seem complimentary and mostly positive, we are always concerned when a guest gives us less than 4 bubbles in a review. Since it is only the pool area that garnered the negative comment, we must assume that we met your expectations in every other area. As an aside, the pool and hot tub are approximately twice the size of comparable hotel properties as it includes a poolside tiki bar as well. We wish you would have elaborated on this comment. We hope you enjoyed your stay and that you will choose us when you return to the Siesta Key/Sarasota area.

"Great Stay"

18/04/2016

This hotel is newly renovated, very cute, and clean. The staff was so sweet, and nice outdoor pool area. Good idea to give guests a free drink coupon to get them out by the pool - definitely worth it while waiting for our taxi. We stayed here while the wedding party stayed at The Capri to save some money. The Johnny Car service they offer is great. I would recommend staying here.

the hotel was very clean and services were done with a smile. The pool was just wonderful open till 10 o'clock at night. Rooms were spacious and tended to very well. The location on Tamiani Trail allowed for travel to Sarasota or Venice to be easy. AT the same time access to Siesta Key was just down the road no more than five minutes by car

16/04/2016

We had another wonderful stay at this hotel (although we had hoped for a room overlooking the pool and ended up overlooking the gardens and car park). The pool area was immaculate, breakfast very good and the pool bar great fun with the fantastic Katrina behind the bar :) We also enjoyed a night down in Siesta Key Village at The Cottage (which was absolutely wonderful). Will definitely be back.

13/04/2016

This hotel is about 10 minutes (or less) from the world famous Siesta Key Beach. The hotel is very good-clean, comfortable, friendly staff. The hot breakfast is excellent. We spent three comfortable nights here and dined at three area restaurants:Der Dutchman Amish Restaurant, Capt. Eddies seafood restaurant and El Toro Bravo for Mexican. There are many other fine choices in the area. I would recommend this hotel for it's service and it's location. It also has an excellent pool.

This hotel is an easy drive to main Sarasota beaches like Siesta Key, Venice Beach & Turtle beach. Nice pool & updated rooms for a mid-priced hotel. Courteous staff, everything very clean. Glad we chose to stay there. Perfect trip.

Real good spot ... Check in staff and nite staff were awesome, the breakfast - OMG, if you complain about this there is something wrong. Coffee fresh, baked goods same, eggs out every 15 min, all good there. Rooms clean, close to every where you need to be in Siesta Key.

"The Best, Best Western"

10/04/2016

I don't typically stay at Best Westerns. This facility is definitely a cut above. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff friendly and helpful. The management team very attentive to their guests as well. The pool and tiki bar made our stay. It was enjoyable to sit at the Tiki bar, managed by Katrina . I'd return to this place, when in the area. Plus its a short ride to the beach and other local attractions.

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids aged 12) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff was polite and friendly, the hotel was clean, the continental breakfast was delicious, the pool area was clean and the water warm, just the way our kids like it. We would recommend this hotel to our friends and family and would stay there again if the opportunity arose.

Great stay at the BW. Great location, the rooms were clean/updated, the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast bar was one of the best I have had for a hotel without a full dining room. Great family choice.

Wonderful staff, clean room, fun pool with musician. Had health problems and found staff to go above and beyond in every way. Breakfast was warm with great variety including eggs, biscuits and gravy, fruit, oatmeal...all tasty and fresh. Just great!!

"Great Location and Great Staff"

05/04/2016

The staff was very friendly at every turn. The pool was awesome with great bar staff. The room was clean and a good value. The breakfast was a great value and not just the typical continental breakfast fare. The location in proximity to Siesta Key was a huge advantage. Slo the free shuttle was terrific.

"Good standard, American hotel"

3
04/04/2016

Stayed for two nights while visiting friends and family in Sarasota. The location is very good if you want to be close to the beach. Nice and clean, nice staff. Extra plus for the heated pool, perfect for us! A really nice pool area given that it is more or less on the parking lot! The breakfast is quite poor, but as an "American" breakfast I think it keep standard. Everything is fresh, but as European i miss rye bread and something not as sweet as candy for breakfast. The disposable plates, mugs etc. makes the feel of the buffet poorer than it has to be. Quite spacious room. A good hotel, I could stay again depending on the price, but will probably choose a cheaper hotel next time, because the extra money spent on this hotel didn't give as much value as I hoped.

"Nice hotel"

03/04/2016

This is the 3rd time I've stayed here. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The free breakfast offers a wide variety. Some items include: French toast, omelets, bacon, sausage gravy & biscuits, pastries, yogurt, cereal, orange juice, apple juice, coffee and more. The later you go down for breakfast, which is served between 7am and 10am, the more crowded it becomes. It has a heated pool which is very clean along with a hot tub. The staff if very courteous and always willing to help with anything such as extra towels, etc. They're very friendly and accommodating. The location is excellent and the hotel offers free transportation to the beach which is slightly out of walking distance. Lastly they have free WiFi and also a couple computers in the lobby for those who may need them. My only recommendation is to not count on a parking spot on the end that's in between Harry's Bar & Grill (which is really good) because it fills up quickly in the evening.

"Spring Break with Family"

4
03/04/2016

Positives:Overall, a Nice hotel near Siesta Key. Walking distance to shops. Beach is about 20 minutes or you can call ahead for shuttle service. Great breakfast and friendly front desk staff. Negatives: No water the second night....our family could not take a shower until after 8pm and the maid service needed to provide more than a couple towels everyday. We booked through Expedia, so our complaints were overlooked do to a "third party" reservation. I would call hotel directly next time to get rates, since this was their excuse to not compensate us for a day without water!

"Another great vacation "

5
31/03/2016

This year we chose this best Western location. What else could you ask for, this establishment has everything you could need. The breakfast is always great, if you don't like smoking it is a smoke free property. The beach is only 2.5 miles from the hotel. There are many great places to eat and visit. I would recommend this hotel for anyone that would like a reasonably priced room with great amenities.

"Think of everyone please"

4
31/03/2016

A cool bar, comfortable pool temperature, shaded seating, lounge chairs, fire table, and a smoking area in the far corner of the parking lot. I understand that not everyone likes smoke. I get it. I hate cigarettes but cigars are an entirely different thing. After a nice excursion and dinner at the sports bar next to the hotel, I would like to have a nice cigar. Instead of having a small vented seat area or something in the corner of the pool area, the smoking area is under a tent, in the dark, and two picnic tables for seating. How am I supposed to enjoy a cigar on vacation in a dark corner of a parking lot? Other than this, the hotel is great. The pool area is fantastic, not too small- not too big. The staff gets a 9/10 rating from me. The property is seemingly shared with the sports bar, but it is incredibly quiet. Even the standard rooms are nice and sanitary. Hope this helped anyone who understands the difference between cigars and cigarettes.

"Nice Hotel"

4
30/03/2016

Nice hotel at southern entrance to Siesta Key. Room clean. Wifi spotty. Excellent breakfast. Large pool, but limited number of reclining loungers. Music at the pool every day from 3-6 pm. Free shuttle to beach and village, which we did not use.

"Nice Hotel but Wifi a Bit Hit/Miss"

4
28/03/2016

This is a nice hotel with a very nice pool area with a pool bar which is especially nice in the evening. Rooms are nice and as a bonus have an in room safe. Wifi was very slow and unreliable but free. The AC unit in the room was a bit on the noisy side and the wardrobe space is in the Bathroom which may put some people off. The room itself was nice and they provide free cookies at 4pm every day. Nice breakfast included in the price. Hotel is situated quite close to the beach at Siesta Key however the traffic when we were there was horrendous, not helped by the continual opening/closing of the swing bridges. Huge car park for the beach but full on the afternoon we tried to go.

"NOISE"

3
28/03/2016

I had booked 2 nites with a garden/pool side. Paid extra ($10.00) per nite. Upon arrival was told I requested parking lot side. Was told they didn't have garden/pool side . I realized after checking out and returning back to Michigan my bill wasn't adjusted the extra $ 20.00 i had paid for garden/pool side..With the parking lot side a garbage truck business made it impossible to get much sleep due to the excessive noise factor... NOISE,NOISE,NOISE.....

"Very nice hotel - staff is excellent - pool bar awesome - breakfast good!"

5
27/03/2016

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel as it is literally at the entrance to Siesta Key. There is also free shuttles to Siesta key so you don't have to try and find a parking space over there. Rooms were a good size, beds are doubles which we always love queens but they were so totally comfortable! Breakfast is the standard hotel breakfast except they totally keep it stocked. They also add hot foods such as scrambled eggs, western omelets, bacon, sausage, etc. It was different each day. Never too crowded when we were there and I believe they were full! My only complaint was where our room was. We had 419 - stay away from the ones ending in 19, 219, 319, 419. They are right in front of the elevator so not only do you not get a view when you open the drapes, it is all dark, but then everyone getting on or off the elevator can look in your room. Also, although really we didn't have any issues late at night people do tend to talk when they get on an elevator. I should have asked for a move right away but we arrived back at the room late. Totally loved the pool bar. Jason was friendly and can make some yummy creations! The bar was reasonably priced. If you have a family the only drawback I see is you cant bring food or drink to the pool. I believe this is a bad rule, but there it is. In the lobby there are 3 PC's to use for anyone. Made it easy to print plane tickets or look something up. We said if we come back we will stay here again! Really nothing to complain about!

"Good choice !"

27/03/2016

Took a little trip south to watch some Pirates games, couldn't beat hotel pricing & location for this time of the year, very convenient to Bradenton and Sarasota parks along with Siesta Key beach only two miles away which was awesome...took a day to get acquainted with heavy traffic advise using Stickney Point Road to beach & Hwy 75 to Sarasota rather than all the lights onTamiami Trail Road

"Enjoyed it !"

25/03/2016

Visited this week with my two teenage kids. Nice hotel, rooms were nice, service and staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast had a good variety too. Pool and bar area were very nice plus had entertainment. Hotel has 3 major restaurants within about 150 yds of property, we just walked over. Short drive to Siesta Beach parking lot or you can take the Hotel shuttle. Great value for the money and easy to drive anywhere in own. Would recommend and return.

"Good spot for a short stop"

23/03/2016

Nice enough property. Pool area very pleasant. Easy go get to, despite heavy traffic. Good access by foot or car to several fine restaurants. Never made it to the beach, due to horrendous spring break traffic, which is beyond the control of the hotel.

"Beach & Baseball!!"

22/03/2016

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel & cannot wait to go back again. Rooms are nice and clean. Staff is great!! The Sand Dollar Pool Bar is great. Jason & Katrina are awesome bartenders. And we cannot forget the free popcorn all day and night!! LOL It is a great location too and the free rides with Jonny's is a bonus. And truly Siesta Key is easily the #1 beach in USA.

"Best place to stay in Siesta Key"

22/03/2016

The Best Western was our residence for 6 nights and what a grand time it was! We were one mile from the beach, but had our bikes and our car; therefore, we drove tot he large beach parking area early and enjoyed the beach for two hours....then went biking at the Legacy Trail or toured Myakka Park or swam in the hotel pool, a large and very clean pool. the bar, poolside, was amazing with great drinks and prices. Breakfast was varied and above average with large screen TV's and free papers to read. Our room on third floor overlooked the pool...quiet, clean, comfortable bed...great stay. Nearby were great restaurants with a large variety of offerings. We checked out the prices at some neat looking condos/hotels nearby....uh, $800+ per night was not an option. the Best Western was a much better deal.

The room was very clean and conveniently located by the pool and outdoor pool bar and fire pit area. Just beautiful! The beds were very comfortable and the shower very hot. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the nice variety of foods. The Jolly van transportation to the Siesta Key beach and Village was an added bonus--didn't have to worry about parking a car with all the traffic. We will definitely be back for a visit.

"Great hotel"

21/03/2016

Great hotel! Loved the free popcorn in the lobby and pool and bar by the pool. One late afternoon had live acoustic music by the pool- so cool!! Rooms are on the small size but we just used for sleeping! Loved the free taxi to the village- and the shuttle to the beach- although we didn't sign up ahead of time and drove ourselves- hard to find parking. Great breakfast in the morning too! Would definitely stay here again!

"Wonderful stay - highly recommended!"

21/03/2016

Wow, is this place terrific. Staff is super-friendly and heated pool is wonderful. Garden area behind hotel is a nice touch. Jets in spa were not working, but this was a minor issue. Our stay was a delight, and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Solid and plentiful breakfast. Shuttle to Siesta Key is great too, and all the drivers were awesome, but book early, as it can fill quickly during high season. I'd go as far as to book the day before for mid-morning the next day.

"Perfect for us"

21/03/2016

We stayed here the last two nights in Sarasota and it was exactly what we needed. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The location was perfect for us as well. We liked the breakfast and all the things that this hotel had to offer. It was even nice that they had a guy playing guitar by the pool on Sunday afternoon. The grounds are also very pretty with all the colorful flowers, shrubs and trees. Would stay here again in the future.

"Nice - not great"

3
18/03/2016

The hotel rooms are nice but small. Bathroom door stuck and need to step in and to the side to shut! Bed was very comfortable. Tv was big but channels not clear. Refrig and microwave was useful. Noisy due to outside hallways, trash truck noise and the birds in the morning was bad. Wifi was horrible-had to reset constantly. Breakfast was average at best. Some breads were stale, green bananas, coffee tasted burnt. Cookies at 4 was good. Computers with a printer to use for free was helpful. Restaurants were close to hotel and the shopping center across the street was convenient. Enjoyed the pool. Nice pool bar and fire pit area. Very pretty landscaping. Siesta Key beach just a short drive away - free shuttle did not use. Overall it was a good experience but would probably look elsewhere before booking again.

"Good service, but small rooms"

3
16/03/2016

The room was small , but it was clean. The poolwater was good warm. The beds were good to sleep. Television was great with a 42'' monitor. Wifi was for free. No more marks, because we stayed only for three days.

"Best Western Siesta Key"

4
15/03/2016

The property is well maintained and the service staff were all pleasant and helpful; free breakfasts were excellent. Also, it is convenient to several good restaurants and to Siesta Key. The one shortcoming we noted was in the bathroom: the shower/tub was somewhat difficult to get into and out of. This was because there are no "bars" to grab onto when getting in or out. This could be a serious issue, especially for seniors. All in all, it was a very lovely place to. If possible reserve a room facing the pool.

"Awesome Pool, Pool Bar and Staff"

4
13/03/2016

Hotel must have been a previous motor lodge; they did their best to update the rooms, but still felt a bit cramped and dated in the rooms, specifically in the bathroom area for a $200+ nite hotel. Beds were very comfortable, however. Luckily, we did not spend much time in the rooms and instead enjoyed the pool, pool bar and staff - made the hotel totally worth it. Also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, popcorn and hot, fresh cookies. All in all a good choice to enjoy the close proximity of Siesta Key, Lido Beach and Orioles Spring Training. Would stay again.

"Great time!"

5
13/03/2016

We stayed for four nights for spring break. This was a great hotel and very close to siesta key. From the time of booking, the staff was really helpful. The room I originally booked online said it was for four people but it was not able to actually accommodate four people but it allowed me to book it due to a glitch. The desk called me and informed me of the error, and Mark helped me book another room at a low price. We were poolside which was a beautiful view. The pool bar was great as well as the fire pits they have going during the evening. Also the free breakfast was the BEST. A variety of selections including eggs, sausage, and pancakes which were our favorite. We would definitely return.

"Comfortable, convenient motel"

4
12/03/2016

This is a great place to stay. The property is well-maintained and the staff is excellent. There are not many hotels or motels in the area, so it's nice they put so much effort into making this one a good value.

"Decent hotel for the price, great location"

4
12/03/2016

The Best Western was comfortable, and was ok for the price. The pool was very nice. Very good service from the front desk staff. My only complaint was noise from the traffic on Tamiami Trail, and from the bar next door. Access to Siesta Key was easy.

"comfortable"

3
11/03/2016

Nicely renovated and Clean. The name is a little misleading if you expect it to be on Siesta Key. There is an elevator but room access is outside hallway. Rooms are somewhat small but Pool area is very attractive. Breakfast has nice selections

"Outstanding pool lounge area, bar and staff"

4
09/03/2016

Excellent place to unwind with friends. Free breakfast was very good and a friendly staff. The only reason i didn't give it a 5 is the rooms are on the small size but very clean. Free shuttle was also a huge plus.

"nice break"

5
09/03/2016

enjoyed the hot weather at the pool with the pool bar being a nice touch. Warm cookies in the lobby were really tasty but you had to be fast to get any or all you got to enjoy was the aroma. Location was great as was the breakfast. Would definitely stay here again when I am in the area

"Good deal for your dollars"

4
07/03/2016

If you don't mind traveling to get to Siesta Key beach and the little strip there the saving in dollars is worth it. They do provide free shuttle service but using our own car proved easy and provided flexibility. Drive time was about 20 to 30 minutes. Room was clean pool area nice but just viewed it as we were there to see and enjoy the beautiful beach.

"It provided what we needed"

4
05/03/2016

My wife and I recently spent five nights in Sarasota--by far our favorite city in Florida--and stayed at the Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway. It met all of our needs very well; the room was clean, the WiFi was free and functional, the beds were comfortable, and everything we needed was close at hand. The room may have been slightly smaller than we usually experience in this price range, but the layout was efficient and we didn't feel cramped. Happily, two of my frequent pet peeves were not applicable here: the room included a comfortable reading chair with a good lamp, and the breakfast was somewhat better than usual (the eggs were less rubbery, the variety was satisfactory, etc.). The only slight drawback is the hotel's location. It's ideal for access to Siesta Key, but other Sarasota attractions are somewhat farther away. Driving to the center of the city generally took us about 20-25 minutes, depending on the time of day. Overall, however, we were quite pleased and would not hesitate to stay there again.

"Convenient and Clean"

4
03/03/2016

This best Western is one of the better ones. Nice pool and lovely pool area with a small bar and places to sit and relax in or out of the sun. Close to Siesta Key and right off Tamiami Trail (41). The rooms are clean and comfortable, and quiet at night. Typical breakfast in the morning. Close to restaurants and shopping.

"nice place wtih great breakfast"

5
03/03/2016

The staff was kind enough to call me when our room was ready so we could check in early. Room was nice, but I dont understand "double" beds, queen would be better. Our stay was great, good pool, staff well informed and professional. Good location, with a shuttle service. Very good breakfast too!!

"Best bed in siesta key"

5
03/03/2016

This hotel is run by an excellent staff. The pool was the warmest pool of our five location travels. The breakfast was good. The bed was the best of even the higher priced places we stayed. I was leery of the location when I first arrived, as it was across the bridge from the key. But in fact, it was a short drive to the beach, and it was closer to restaurants and shopping, than if I had stayed on the key. Great find!

"Wonderful place to stay"

5
02/03/2016

We stayed at this hotel in February 2016 and loved it! The rooms are updated and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The front desk employees were knowledgeable about the area and attractions nearby. We appreciated the amenities the hotel had to offer: hot breakfast, free popcorn and cookies, and beautiful pool area.

"BW Gateway, Sarasota"

5
02/03/2016

We stayed here for 2 weeks and booked late and felt lucky to find a hotel of this quality. We were very satisfied in how close it was to Siesta Key and with how updated and lovely it was. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the pool was attractive and heated, and chocolate chip cookies at 4pm and freshly made popcorn, made our stay all the better.

"Great place and price"

5
01/03/2016

This is a great hotel in the Sarasota area. It is centrally located to St. Armand's Circle and Siesta Key Village/Beach. The rooms are nice and clean. The beds are comfy and the staff is wonderful. Monica, the breakfast attendant/server was extrememly friendly and helpful and kept things clean and fresh. We look forward to coming back to this hotel and hopefully find time to enjoy the lovely pool and hot tub as well.

"Fabulous Hotel"

5
29/02/2016

Very courteous and friendly staff. Breakfast was delicious and with many options to choose from. The free popcorn and hot cookies were an added bonus and delicious. First rate hotel!! I would strongly recommend this hotel to friends and family.

"Getting a feel for the Sarasota area. Thinking about eventually purchasing a home."

3
28/02/2016

The hotel was nice and staff were friendly. I felt that the room was a little on the small size and our room was overlooking the parking lot which was very noisy especially in the early morning when the garbage truck came to pick up.

"Great week in Florida"

4
27/02/2016

Had a great stay at Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway, Sarasota. Staff was professional and friendly - particularly enjoyed the staff at the pool bar. Great location as we walked to many of the shops and restaurants. Would recommend this hotel.

"relaxing"

5
26/02/2016

Tiki bar great. Pool nice size and heated, hotel supplied towels. Harrys great place to eat and good atmosphere. Was next to hotel.Nice staff. Be sure to use the shuttle for beach and shopping, owned by the hotel.

"Stayed near Siesta Key"

4
26/02/2016

Best Western Plus was a comfortable, clean and pleasant base for visit to the Siesta Key area. While not actually on Siesta Key (note: "Gateway"), it is nearby and has good access. It is surrounded by many types of businesses - some useful to travelers. It provides a good breakfast and appears to offer a pleasant swim pool and adequate to better fitness facility. Staff are excellent.

"Too Expensive"

5
26/02/2016

It was a nice, but small room. It was kept clean with the maid service. We stayed there for 14 days and found the fresh baked cookies at 4:00 pm everyday and the popcorn which was available everyday and anytime very special. However, I felt their prices were too expensive.

"Warm & Beautiful"

5
25/02/2016

We escaped the cold February on Long Island at this hotel. The ladies working at the breakfast buffet were the stars of the show. Room was clean and sundries were well supplied. Laundry room needs an upgrade. Pool area has been remodeled beautifully. Worth a stay.

"3rd Stay and as Good as the 1st and 2nd"

4
24/02/2016

This was our third stay here and it was as good as our first two. Rooms were very clean although some of the furnishings could be updated. We like the poolside of the building. They have a great poolside bar as well as large heated pool. Katrina is really good. She is very friendly. She makes good drinks as well as sandwiches. The hotel is close to Siesta Key, restaurants and shopping. Johnny's shuttle service to Siesta Key is free9(Tip the Driver). Breakfast was included and was good. The Wifi service was intermediate which was a bit disappointing. Overall this hotel will always be a stopping point for us whenever we drive to Southwest Florida.

"Bicycling around Florida"

4
22/02/2016

The room was clean and nice, staff pleasant but really did not go out of their way to be helpful, which is ok. Pool and hot tub were nice. I think it is probably a really nice place but I got so tired of climbing over the bed to get to the bathroom when my husband was on the computer that I wanted to leave. Fortunately we spent most of our time out of the room. I would not go back. My husband forgot and left the chair pushed out and I tripped over it going to the restroom during the night. A very frustrating experience for me. We stayed at 5 other places that were $100.00 less per night and way more relaxing. And then the Coke machine was out of Coke. Not permitted to eat while sitting around the pool.

"Well located hotel"

4
21/02/2016

We were there 2 nights. The room was clean and well maintained. It is close to some restaurants, within walking distance and easy to drive to many others. The internet was quite slow and they change the passwords on Friday and didn't tell us which added to that frustration. They blasted the music from the pool one evening so we had to call and then it was turned down. The other side of town from the Ringling Bros museum but we went there just one day and I think the area around the Siesta Key is much nicer. The breakfast was delicious.

"great location"

4
21/02/2016

this hotel has many amenities and perfect for a stop for a couple nights or just one. located close to the siesta key beach, shopping, restaurants, and grocery stores. the pool and tiki bar is very nice with live music and good and drinks. Rooms are mediocre with dated decor and fixtures. would like to see further updating with furnishings and decor. Overall, impressive, convenient, and nice. bed and pillows not comfortable to me

"Close to Siesta Key Village and Beach"

4
20/02/2016

This hotel is very close to Siesta Key Village and Beach. It provides a free shuttle to Siesta Key which is great as the traffic is heavy across the bridge. Free breakfast is great. The only negative is the size of the hotel room - rather small. The pool and the bar were great - loved all the seating possibilities.

"Very nice hotel"

5
19/02/2016

The staff was very helpful. The hotel is very well maintained. The area around the pool has benches to sit and enjoy the landscape. The breakfast was the usual standard fair. Parking was plentiful. Location was good.

"Nice Hotel"

5
19/02/2016

We stayed here for one night to see visitors that were down in Siesta Key. The room was very nice, bed comfortable, and towels were very soft. I wasn't impressed with the breakfast but it did have items that most hotels have. The scrambled eggs were good but I wasn't interest in the breakfast burrito. They did have waffles, cereal, oatmeal and yogurt. All in all it was a nice place to stay. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, a plus in the hotel business. It took about 15 mins to get to the beach due to all the traffic.

"Close to Siesta Key - best beach with white sand very relaxing and with calm water"

4
19/02/2016

Hotel clean and good service. Very close to Siesta Key - we would say best calm and with white smooth sand. Close to the Bay and shopping! Breakfast is great. You can walk to Siesta Key 30 minutes. S. Tamiami Trail is actually a busy and main road in Sarasota. Sarasota airport is about 10 minutes drive. Another attraction the Lido Key has lots of night entertainment and boutiques ( even though the beach is not as good as Siesta Key) is just 10 minutes drive from this motel/hotel.

"Centrally located and convenient to restaurants and shops."

4
17/02/2016

Nice hotel/motel just a short drive from Siesta Key. We stayed in an executive suite which was comfortable with one bedroom and two bathrooms. The walls, however, are a bit thin, and you hear everything, including a loud gentleman next door who decided to carry on a conversation at 2 AM. The pool bar and adjacent fire pit area was nice for relaxing and the pool was a comfortable 87 degrees, but the Jacuzzi was a disappointment because the pumps that make the bubbles weren't working. The breakfast each morning was good. The best part was the staff. They were helpful and accommodating, especially Margaret, who each morning suggested little day trips that we could take, based on our interests.

"Not as good as we thought it would be."

3
16/02/2016

Location is on the main arterial route, so good if you plan exploring the area. A good 25 minute walk to the beach. A number of restaurants within walking distance but all very similar ie American style diners. If you want something different you need to drive. Wi fi excellent. Decent pool area with bar. Major downside is noise - the hotel backs onto other commercial premises and deliveries start at 5am. We were woken 3 mornings out of 5 between 5 and 6am. Not really what you need on holiday. Small gym which fits 4 people max though was quiet. Found a cockroach in our room on last night, though to be fair hotel did seem generally clean. Breakfast pretty good though.

"Great stay-but no wifi"

4
16/02/2016

The rooms are average. This is a Motel, not a Hotel, which made me a bit nervous. The breakfast was great. Pool area was fantastic. Hot tub and pool heated well enough to enjoy on 50-60 degree days. Liked that there was a bar and seating around a fire. Great place to unwind. All staff were friendly and accomodating. Highly recommend. Good location. Only complaint would be that we really never were able to conncet to wifi which was frustrating to my teenage children.

"Nice stay"

12/02/2016

I had done some research on hotels in Siesta Key on TripAdvisor, concentrating on reviews from solo travelers. Best Western PLUS Siesta Key looked like a good match for me. I don't often travel solo and wanted a location that would be easy for me, especially since I preferred not to rent a car. Best Western PLUS Siesta Key was really perfect for me. There was free van shuttle for travel within Siesta Key (including the beach and Village). They only asked for tips. In addition, there were lots of chain restaurants and shops within walking distance. Since the room had a refrigerator, I was able to buy some food from Publix across the street and a very good health food store right next door. Of course, the hotel provides a free breakfast that was sufficient, with fresh fruit, eggs, and cereal. I especially enjoyed shopping for clothes bargains at Steinmart (across the street) -- one of my favorite stores! Didn't use the pool much since the weather was cool, but it was very nice and clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel to solo travelers as well as anyone who doesn't mind being a van ride away from the beach. My room was a bit small but fine for one person. Service was mixed. Some staff went out of their way to help but others didn't like to even give directions without prodding. One young man went out of his way to find me Downton Abbey on the lobby television since PBS wasn't one of the in-room options. I was very grateful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others or to return myself or with friends or partner in the future.

"Great Hotel"

12/02/2016

All around great choice for a vacation to the sunny state! Great breakfast, great pool, and excellent staff. Rooms were a tad small, but we were not there for the room. The surrounding area was quiet, and the beach was nearby. A great choice all around!

"Siesta season perfection"

5
10/02/2016

This is my fourth time at this Best Western. The front desk was extremely accommodating considering I had booked a king bed room but needed two doubles.even though it is high season and they were full they changed our room at no additional charge. The free breakfast buffet is great with hot food that is delicious. Every time I stay there I receive the same consistent service.

"Location fit the bill"

4
10/02/2016

Hotel was situated so we could go to many places and beaches. Having breakfast included was a plus. Very nice pool, close to shopping and restaurants. Within walking distance of shopping and restaurants.

"Clean and well run."

09/02/2016

We spent two nights here on the way back from the Keys. We were happy with all aspects, and little touches are evident. A good choice for breakfast, coffee available 24 hours along with hot chocolate. The pool and garden area well kept. There is transport to the beach if needed. The place is well managed and it shows. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

"Best Western was a PLUS"

4
07/02/2016

Hotel was in a good location to get to various beaches. Free breakfast was a perk. Great pool. Close to restaurants and shopping. 24 hour hot beverages, warm afternoon cookies, and popcorn was an additional plus.

"Great time in Siesta Key, Sarasota"

5
07/02/2016

This motel was a wonderful experience for our visit to Siesta Key, Sarasota. It was very clean, comfortable, and made our trip successful. Easy access to the beach and free transportation. Our room was very comfortable and bright and just made my wife and I very happy.

"Siesta Key Vacation"

Great hotel at a reasonable price. Walking distance to the Gulf and also several restuarants. You can avoid the beach traffic and finding a place to park in excahnge for a moderate walk (less than 1/2 mile).

"out dated hotel / terrible stay"

2
04/02/2016

First of all this hotel is so outdated and motel style. it is definitely not a three star hotel. The rooms are small and nothing great about them. The beds are terrible. We had to have them replace our fridge because it wasn't working. The pool area / bar was nice but we didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel to really enjoy it. Plus it was storming the 2 days we were there. We didn't sleep very well due to the beds being so uncomfortable. The breakfast was average, not really anything special. The staff was helpful and friendly. I just think they need to renovate very badly.

SiestaHotelMgr, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Katie L - Thank you for your recent review of our hotel property. I do need to respond to your "outdated" and motel comments since clarification is necessary. This property underwent a 1.5 mm renovation in all public spaces and guest rooms in 2012 with all new furnishings, including soft goods, in the guest rooms and public spaces. It is well reflected here on this site with many pictures as well as on our independent site and Best Western. Video is available on our independent website. The beds are all less than 3 years old. The property is a 120 room hotel, 4 story building with 2 elevators. AAA inspects us yearly and has awarded us 3 diamonds each year as we more than qualify for this designation from the furnishings to the upgraded breakfast we provide daily for our guests complimentary. It's unfortunate that the weather was less than stellar - poor weather does not lend to a pleasant stay particularly in a beach destination.

"Overall happy with my stay"

4
04/02/2016

I enjoyed my stay at the Best Western. The location was great, conveniently located to resturants, retail and only a 10-15 minute ride to Siesta Key Beach. The bed was very comfy and I thought the room and other facilities were well kept. Breakfast was great each day and they offer free 24 hour coffee/hot chocolate and free popcorn. Take advantage of the free cookies at 4:00PM too. My only criticism would be of the Wi-Fi, which was very slow and kept logging off. I did mention this to the front desk but they weren't too helpful with this issue. However, they were very accommodating for everything else.

"Super hotel in great location!"

04/02/2016

Just returned from 4 night stay at Best Western Siesta Key Gateway. The hotel is very well kept with clean rooms and a wonderful pool area. Sand Dollar pool bar was a nice place to relax and meet new friends. Harry sports bar is next door and had good food at modest prices. Also several other restaurants within walking distance. There is a free breakfast buffet daily, and free popcorn and cookies in the lobby. All in all highly recommend The BW, the place is great.

"5 relaxing nights"

5
04/02/2016

Had 5 nights here, very clean and friendly staff., Quite busy as the week went on due to some guests unable to go home as the snow was very bad at the North east coast. All facilities in room plus security box. This is a B.W. plus, so a few little extras on offer. Warm salted popcorn in the reception area, fresh baked cooked near teatime and hot coffee available 24hrs. No waffle making machine at breakfast but there was a pancake machine. Free shuttle available to the beach, if you book it, just tip the driver. Plenty of resteraunts in the area. You can walk down to the public beach in Sarasota about a mile over the causeway also local buses available. Lovely warm pool with a bar(you pay everything on credit card to the room. Also live entertainment at the side of the pool one afternoon. A very enjoyable stay would recommend it.

"Not So Nice a Place"

1
03/02/2016

The room was noisy and not cleaned on one day. The manager and one desk clerk were unpleasant--anything that went wrong was seen to be our fault. The breakfasts were disappointing. There is no fresh fruit available in Florida???

SiestaHotelMgr, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Siesta Key Gateway, responded to this review
Greetings RKFarley - Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay. We are disappointed that we failed to give you the accommodations and consideration we strive for with all our guests – the type of service in which we pride ourselves. We do appreciate your patronage.

"Excellent location and well appointed"

02/02/2016

just spent 4 very pleasant nights at the Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway. Lovely pool area. Room was a bit dated, but it was very clean, had a great TV and the plumbing and air conditioning worked well. It was very well appointed with plenty of outlets, mirrors, little fridge and a microwave. The hotel was busy, but the staff was well trained, friendly, accommodated our requests and made helpful suggestions. There were many good choices at the breakfast buffet. The 24 hour coffee/tea bar was a huge plus. The location was perfect for getting to the gorgeous Siesta Key beach and the hotel parking area had a walkway to reach the strip mall next door without walking on the highway. We found a wonderful organic grocery store there to get lunch fixings to take to the beach, making this hotel extremely convenient. Overall, we had a super time and we will be back again.

"Best of Everything! ?? "

02/02/2016

We hadn't planned on staying in Siesta Keys but ooh so glad we did! ?? This Best Western rocks! It's close to the Ringling brother's home of John and Mabel. It's close to Lido beach. The staff is friendly. The rooms are clean. They also include a yummy hot breakfast of eggs, bacon or sausage, muffins and breads, coffee and juice. Great pool and hot tub area.

01/02/2016

I have stayed here before and always liked the property and it location for my needs. Close to restruants and the beach. Very happy my stay and will stay there again when returning to the Siesta Key area. Have family there so once a year I go to golf and beach!

"SIESTA KEY IN THE RAIN"

4
01/02/2016

Even though I had lots of rain during my stay, there is certainly much to do. Did manage a few hours on the beach between the rain and it is as spectacular as billed. One rainy day, I went up to the John and Mable Ringling Compound and spent 6 hours seeing the wonders of the house Ca' d'Zan, The Art Museum and the Circus Museum. It was easy to get to from the Hotel- almost a straight route. The Hotel was very welcoming with both a complimentary 2 for 1 Happy Hour Drink coupon around the lovely pool and Hot Tub Area as well as a coupon for free transportation. The staff was vey helpful as well. The property is clean and updated and the complimentary breakfast robust with changing items each day.

Excellent stay at the Best Western Gateway Hotel Siesta Key Florida. Very good failities and helpful cheerful staff. Pool and surrounding area was great. Good size and heated a pleasure to swim in. Breakfast was very good. Plenty of choice and coffee avalable all day plus free pop corn

"Customer Service"

4
30/01/2016

Front end service needs a lot of improvement. They seemed annoyed that we were there. We were told to call Best Western ourselves when we could not find our rewards card. Front end was not very helpful finding us a room. Maybe, Hotels.com might have been a problem.

"A Gem off the beaten path"

5
30/01/2016

This is a great place to stay. The best rate around. Breakfast is awesome a variety of foods to choose from. The pool and outdoor bar are a big plus. They have the most comfortable kingsize beds. Siesta Beach is just 2 - 3 minutes away by car. This is the best beach in the world. St armands circle is within driving range and there are so many restaurants you'll have a hard time deciding where to eat

Hotel is very conveniently located and the shuttle to Siesta Key is a nice touch. Staff all very welcoming and friendly, especially lady serving at poolside bar. Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay here and can't think of anything negative to say.

"2016 Tornado"

26/01/2016

We were displaced from our condo on Siesta Key following a tornado!! Your location was perfect and your staff was extremely helpful. Allison booked our room and the staff got it ready for early check-in!

Love this place however, this was the first time I stayed and it lost power. I know the they are working on it, but the back up power only lights up the outside. The room got hot quick but once they restored the power completely all was well.

Hotel was located in a great spot to visit the keys. jonny shuttle worked great! The hotel rooms could use a deep clean. The hot tub wasn't working all of the time.. Great staff. We were there during the tornado.

Had a nice stay but the 6am wake up call every morning with the trash trucks and others banging across the speed bumps in the lot got old quick. Would recommend staying in a pool side room may help a little.

18/01/2016

Siesta Key is a beautiful beach! Best Western has a great location to access the beach. Nice neighborhood to take a long walk, if it is too cool to go for a swim. Bright area to enjoy a wonderful breakfast. The fresh popped corn, smelled so good when you enter the lobby!

"Great Experience"

5
18/01/2016

Awesome room and great service... I had no trouble with anything at the hotel. Staff was friendly and willing to answer any questions I had. Wireless Internet was better than expected. Definitely worth the price for comfort.

"Best way to see Siesta Key"

5
18/01/2016

Hotel is only minutes from the beach. They have a free full breakfast. Shuttle to the beach is reliable and easy to use. Front desk staff is more than accommodating. The heated pool and fire pit are delightful, Add to that an open bar with afternoon snack food available gives the family a great afternoon/evening if too cool for the beach. And the evening cookies and popcorn are a welcome surprise!

"GREAT ROOM AND BREAKFAST NICE POOL"

15/01/2016

My big complaint is I was charged $374.78 for my stay etc. which was what I expected but also a $1375.29 charge is on my visa which I called twice about and is still there I will be calling a 3rd tomorrow and then will not be as patient if it is still there

"Good location"

4
15/01/2016

We enjoyed our stay once again, have stayed about 3 times before. Hotel is very close to beach and several restaurants within walking distance. Hotel offers hot breakfast and kept very clean. Room very comfortable and clean.

"Winter get away"

11/01/2016

We met our daughter and fiance' there for a quick get away. Check in was quick, easy and everyone was very nice. The convenience of the laundry room and daily breakfast were perfect! Our room over looked the beautiful pool area, complete with a hot tub and fire pit with cushioned chairs. The Sand Bar at the pool was fun! Katrina is the bartender and she's got a fabulous personality for it. We loved hanging out with her and she gave us delicious recommendations for dinner!! It was the best, Best Western we've ever stayed & would recommend it to anyone visiting Siesta Key.

"Very Relaxing"

10/01/2016

Enjoyed our stay here. It has a very nice pool and hot tub. The grounds are nice too. Close to beaches and many resturants are nere by. The rooms are clean. Maybe could use some updates in the bathroom.

"9 days"

06/01/2016

Housekeeping could have been better. Entering our room after check-in I found an empty water bottle and torn strip from a snack bag. The next few days the toilet paper roll left little strips on the floor , these remained for two days as well as crushed potato chip. On the good side, pool area was nice as well as bar and breakfast. Front desk and breakfast friendly.

"Great Stay"

06/01/2016

Everyone was very friendly including the front desk and the maids. We were particularly impressed with Stacy who worked the breakfast area. She was very kind and caring. She is the type employee that every employer would love to have.

"Very good for the price"

4
04/01/2016

Clean and nice hotel in the Sarasota area. It offers free shuttle service to and from the beach. Great breakfast included in the price of the room. The front desk staff is very kind. I asked for an extra hour late check-out and it was given at no extra-cost. I recommend this hotel for a family vacation.

"Christmas Getaway"

4
03/01/2016

Nice hotel, with very comfortable beds. Front desk employees were very friendly & helpful. Beautiful pool area & don't miss the fire pit at night -- great place to have a night cap & unwind by the fire. The breakfast was good, but it did get very crowded & there really wasn't enough seating area. Overall, a nice hotel & I would definitely go back.

"Comfortable and convenient, but needs updating."

3
03/01/2016

Again, the facility is comfortable and convenient, but the bathrooms really need to be updated. The Western wrap breakfast is too dry. We like the fresh popcorn in the lobby. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Two hundred characters is unnecessary.

"Good location, nice pool"

3
03/01/2016

If you like to sleep late in the morning. ask for a room that is not too close to the elevator. It can get very busy and noisy in early in the morning. Hotel is a 10 minute drive from Siesta Key beaches. However, if you watch the sunset, it can take you up to one hour to get back to the hotel due to heavy traffic. This was our second stay at this hotel. We were seduced by the resort-like pool area the first time we stayed there.

"Comfort problem (lol)"

5
02/01/2016

The bed plus it's amazing pillows were so comfy that we slept in until eleven o,clock when we had planned on being up, going to the complementary breakfast and back on the road. Opps!! The price of the room was a lot more than we would have liked and we almost walked away because of it but my husband was too tired to drive any longer.

"My overall experience staying here has been fantastic."

5
02/01/2016

I stay here often and have always been pleased with everything. The front desk employees are always smiling and very helpful. The breakfast is great and again the ladies that make sure everything is ready are wonderful. They are on top of things making sure everything is full and clean.. I know I'll be coming back.

"New Years eve with friends"

4
01/01/2016

For the last 2 years a group of friends have traveled the Siesta Key for the New Years eve. this year we had 5 rooms at the Best Western. The pool bartender Katrina was wonderful. We really enjoyed our time with her at the pool. The hotel offers free rides to Siesta Key bars and restaurants which is very convenient.

"Abysmal Customer Service"

1
31/12/2015

My wife and I made a reservation over the phone and were told a confirmation email would be forthcoming; however, we were never sent a confirmation email. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that the reservation had been booked for the night before and we were charged for a no show. We tried to explain that the reservation was made incorrectly by the person with whom we spoke on the phone. We spoke with desk staff and the general manager to try and explain the situation. In the end, the general manager insisted that my wife and I were lying in order to try and get a free room. A mistake on the behalf of hotel desk staff is understandable, but blatantly accusing a customer of being intentionally dishonest is unthinkable. If you plan on having any interaction whatsoever with the staff at your place of lodging, I would avoid this location like the plague.

"Great Stay"

4
28/12/2015

Loved the room and the whole place. Was excited for the hot breakfast, but it was precooked eggs and the waffles and pancakes were not as good as they could have been. I would suggest going back to cooking them to order instead of that machine which was very temperamental. Humans still are better than machines.

"Scott was great on staff"

28/12/2015

Great Place to stay. I always stay pool or garden side the east side of the property w the sunrise That is key to this property Good Viddles in the morning the lady working that area was great She was older but served w grace.

"Good stay, warm pool"

4
27/12/2015

We were travelling a family with 2 kids, and enjoyed the free popcorn in the reception, the warm pool and the very good staff that worked here. The room was a little bit dated, but clean. We would like to spend a few nights there again. Easy access from interstate and near siesta key beach ( tip, use church's parkingsspot and take the free transport to the beach) since finding a parking at siesta key can be almost impossible.

"Awesome Stay"

5
23/12/2015

My wife and I just stayed 3 nights. Excellent stay. VERY clean... Nice pool and Tiki bar. Excellent Staff. Free shuttle to where ever you want to go. Will DEFINITELY stay again. Lots of stores and restaurants within walking distance. Very reasonably priced.

"Location, professionalism, nicely managed resort hotel"

5
22/12/2015

A one-night stay in Sarasota brought me to this very well-appointed and professionally staffed hotel. Staff greeted us enthusiastically, checked us in expeditiously, and directed us to the hotel's amenities without prompting. At 8:30 p.m. the pool was populated with several families, the fireplace sitting area was abuzz, and the poolside bar was hopping. The amenities close down at 10 allowing for quiet for all guests. Standard Best Western breakfast (cereal, waffles, pastries, eggs, sausage) is served between 7 and 10 a.m. and my favorite, real (not lite) Oikos yogurt was available. I am a long time aficionado of the Best Western brand as an economical and reliable choice for short-term and overnight stays, and this Siesta Key Gateway property is exemplary.

"Loved Every Minute!"

21/12/2015

We stayed at this hotel for a week and were very pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. Clean Rooms, Professional Staff and great Breakfast! We will definitely be back to stay with them again! Close to everything!

"Great hotel and close to Siesta Key beach"

5
20/12/2015

Great hotel, and only a 10-minute drive to Siesta Key beach. Amenities offered include a variety of free breakfast items, fitness center with dumbbells and machines, and heated outdoor pool and hot tub. I highly recommend this hotel and plan on returning in the future.

"Short vacation"

5
18/12/2015

Just spent 4 days in Sarasota and enjoyed a stay at the hotel, well located near major points visited. Personal service was excellent and amenities quite good. Negative points as follows: Beds too hard. Breakfast menu - had it only twice - had no potatoes and scrambled eggs were insipid. Best points: Great coffee choices, hot chocolate, coffee and pop corn available at all hours.

"Very noisy!"

3
16/12/2015

All the rooms at the north side of the hotel are next to a very large (airco?) installation which makes a lot of noise day and night. Ask for a room at the south side or you won't get a decent sleep! This is a regular Best Western hotel; no idea why the "Plus". A free popcorn in the lobby won't help that.

"Great spot"

4
16/12/2015

Excellent location, 1 mile to the beaches, right on Tamiami close to shops, restaurants , highway. Hot breakfast. Nice pool,Jacuzzi, fire place & bar. I'm always satisfied. Room is clean, comfortable, thick towels & a bar of soap that you can't see through!

"Great Stay"

Plus: *Great pool, with fire pit pool side and a new jacuzzi *Very nice rooms, big tvs, big bathrooms, new and clean *Pool side bar with TVs *good breakfast *free shuttle service to the beach *good location *great rates *WiFi *etc, etc Cons: none that I noticed

"Good Value"

5
15/12/2015

Stayed one night passing through. Only down is that for the price you could probably get a weekly rental on siesta key. Clean and updated rooms. Walking distance to several good restaurants. Pool is very nice. Excellent landscaping. So much so that you don't notice that you are completely surrounded by parking lots. Good hot breakfast including bacon!

"Great Hotel- Great Location"

5
15/12/2015

I stayed here with 2 of my girlfriends. One of our best friends lives in the Sarasota area. The free transportation to Siesta Key was awesome! Quick and on time. The breakfast was surprisingly satisfying every morning! There was a large selection and it changed daily. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

"Pleasantly surprised - great value"

5
13/12/2015

My mom and I had never been to Sarasota before so we chose this hotel based on the Trip Advisor reviews. We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. It was very clean, the room was a sufficient size and the breakfast was good. The Florida décor was nice and towels seemed new. We did not use the pool but it was very large with a pool bar and fire pit area. The location is excellent - very close to Siesta Key and in walking distance to Publix, a sports bar and some restaurants on the street behind the hotel. There is a shuttle that will take you to Siesta Key for tips which I thought was an added bonus. The hotel is a little hard to find and could use a bigger sign. You can't make a left turn out of the hotel so we used the street at the back of the parking lot and made a right to get to US41. This hotel was a great value and I would highly recommend it.

"Strategic location for those desiring to explore the entirety of Siesta Key."

3
11/12/2015

Room could be modernized and better accessorized. Daily breakfast availability and service was an absolute positive attribute of this hotel. People at the Front Desk need better training on how to handle occupant complaints and requests. Also, a paper bill at Check-Out (or at any time during one's stay) should be standard operating procedure. Finally, Jonny's FREE RIDE service to and around Siesta Key is an unexpected windfall.

"Definite Recommendation!!"

5
10/12/2015

Super clean, incredibly convenient, friendly staff, great pool area with a little bar, snacks throughout the day, and very comfy bed!! Could not have asked for more!! There is a shopping area and convenience stores close by to get anything extra you may need. Siesta Key's downtown is a 10 minute drive (on the off season), or they have a free shuttle (you just tip the driver), or they also have bikes that you can borrow! Stay and enjoy a carefree vacation!

"Has good vibe"

5
09/12/2015

This is my second stay at this hotel and it was as pleasurable as the first. I enjoy the pool, and all its other amenities. It's close to the beach and there is just about every restaurant that you can imagine around it.

"Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway, Sarasota, Florida"

4
04/12/2015

I have stayed at many Best Western locations both in the U.S. and Europe and this one in Sarasota was one of the best ones yet! Lovely pool area with many lounge chairs/umbrella areas and comfy seating around a "heated" area. Room was a nice size and everything was neat and clean. Lovely establishment and will continue to book BW in the future.

"GOOD QUICK DRIVE TO THE BEACH HOTEL"

4
03/12/2015

If you do not have to stay right on the beach than this is a good place to stay. A nice hotel with everything you need ( including internet ). A good value for the price. Nice cozy rooms with everything you need. Nice garden on one side in back & nice pool area on other side. The hotel is aesthetically pleasing and efficiently designed and they did a nice job landscaping the hotel to give it that little oasis feel. Service was good all the way around. Our room ( # 216 ) was a little noisy from mechanical sources outside the room ( ? ). Breakfast buffet needs to taken to a little higher level.. We will stay there again and we give it our recommendation.

"Very friendly personal."

4
26/11/2015

4th floor poolside room, very clean, no disturbing noise. The breakfast is plentiful, but little bit too sweet for our Scandinavian taste. The situation is fine, very short distance to Siesta Keys fantastic beach.

"Anniversary Get Away"

5
23/11/2015

We normally go to Sanidel for or anniversary and Siesta Keys for my birthday but decided to switch it up this year. It turned out real nice. The upgrades that were made were really nice and were a pleasant surprise. The lounge out by the pool area with a beautiful fire pit was a great way to enjoy a glass of wine from the the pool side bar.

"I said I'd go back ... and I did!"

4
23/11/2015

Like any good hotel, the Best Western Siesta Key has a great staff dedicated to making your time there as pleasant as can be. It's clean and it's easy. The breakfast buffet had everything I needed to get the day started and between an included breakfast and free wi-fi you're way ahead of the game. The pool area had lots of improvements since I was there last year including a nice glass marble fire pit where you can sit with a drink from the outdoor bar after a swim in the large pool or a soak in the hot tub. I love this place and the people that run it. While it's a mile or two from the public beach (Regularly rated the number one beach in America!) Jonny's Free Ride Service is based right in the hotel so a quick trip to the beach or Siesta Village is always available. You'll like it here!

"Excellent Stay Close to Siesta Key beach"

5
22/11/2015

We enjoyed our stay here. The front desk staff were welcoming and helpful as they immediately moved our room when we discovered a leak from the air conditioner unit. Rooms are comfortableand nicely decorated. Hot breakfast was delicious. We highly recommend this hotel when visiting the area.

"The key to Siesta Key"

5
21/11/2015

Perfectly located hotel for Siesta Key. The hotel has a free shuttle but if you like walking then it is less than a mile of comfortable walking to get to the beach. There is also an hourly bus service just outside the hotel that goes all the way to Siesta Key Village. Also within walking distance are loads of decent eateries, shops and supermarkets. The hotel has a great heated swimming pool with a poolside bar. The breakfast is excellent and cookies and popcorn are available in reception. The rooms are a little small but very comfortable, clean and well furnished. All in all a great choice if visiting Siesta Key and its wonderful beach.

"Nice place to stay"

4
20/11/2015

It is very convenient for visiting the beautiful beach. Room is quiet and clean. Staff nice. Beautiful garden on north side for $10 more. Nice firm bed. Nice warm above average breakfast. Breakfast room face the garden. They served bacon and cheese omelette. New fancy automatic pan cake machine. No oat meal, I was a little disappointed but just a little. Walking to restaurant and market.

"Great stay"

5
19/11/2015

This was an unscheduled stayover which turned out to be two nights. The room was very clean and well appointed - it was extremely comfortable. Th location was ideal for me and worked out very well! Will def be back!

"Great Hotel for Visiting Sarasota"

5
06/11/2015

Located at the intersection of Routes 74 and 41 this is a great location if you are visiting area attractions many of which (especially The Ringling) are located on 41. Route 74 is the access to the beaches of Siesta Key. Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island are accessed at several points off 41. We found the hotel to be clean, comfortable and quiet. Comfortable beds, good shower, and a breakfast that is a bit above the average. A sports bar is located next to the hotel. We didn't experience any evening noise from the bar. But we did experience two good evening meals there. The signage on route 41 for the entrance to the hotel is so tiny its easy to overlook. Better to look for the larger Harry's Bar sign (with the hotel sign below it). You can turn in just before or just after the Harry's sign. The easiest way to leave the hotel for Routes 41 North and 72 is to exit the hotel lot to Avenue A (opposite side of the hotel property from Route 41). Take a right on Avenue A to route 72. Then right for Route 41 North or South or left for 72 towards Siesta Key.

We have spent four nights in this hotel and were happy there. Convenient location for everyday trips to Siesta Key. Quality breakfast, free shuttle service to Siesta Key. Clean and spacious rooms, quality services.

"Heavenly!"

03/11/2015

Best Western properties usually deliver a top notch hotel experience and the Siesta Key Gateway did so with honors! Easy, friendly check in with warm fresh baked cookies and popcorn in the lobby. Elevator close by with luggage carts. Renovated rooms that are spotless, fresh and embracing. Wonderful beds, roomy bathroom, big tv with 50 channels, fridge, microwavce, hair dryer, valubles safe, quiet A/C, lots of hot water. Breakfast included, swimming pool, pool bar. We were close to a bar and restaurant district just one block away that had lots of funky cool eating and drinking. They also offer a free shuttle to Siesta Key beach. This was fantastic because parking at the beach is limited. We would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to the Siesta Key area!!

"Wonderful Surprise"

5
30/10/2015

Thank you to the entire staff that were so friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the delicious complimentary breakfast and the assortment of both hot and cold choices. The fresh fruit and unlimited coffee and tea were an added perk as well as the hot cookies put out daily. The pool grounds and hotel were immaculate and the location could not have been better to the beach and shopping. We had a wonderful trip and look forward to a return in the near future. I highly recommend

"Location OK, but poor management"

2
29/10/2015

Just got back from a 3 day weekend at this Hotel. The Rooms were decent and clean. Breakfast was suitable even for a gluten free diet, but you would have to be okay with milk products. Mark, the Manager was nice, but an assistant named Margaret would keep me from ever returning to this hotel. She was rude and intentionally tried to delay our checkout so we would have to pay for another day....we had already confirmed we would not stay the last day with Mark when we arrived and she insisted we had not complied....a guest should not be treated this way and ...really a pity since the price was right and it was a decent spot to get to other areas...we were also told by a hotel employee that Sharkeys on the Pier was closed for remodeling and I called and they were NOT closed....Sharkeys was one of our best evening experiences. Siesta Key was my favorite beach and the shopping area reminded me of Hawaii....I will look for a place nearer the beach next time, even if it costs more

"A nice stay"

5
27/10/2015

I came in to visit family, it was neat and clean and the ac was very quite and worked well. The bed was comfortable and the hot water was almost instant. The pool area was also nice. I really enjoyed my stay and will stay here again on my next visit. If I had a con it would be that I was't crazy about the free breakfast. But the 24/7 free coffee/tea/Cappuccino/Hot Chocolate more than made up for it.

"Good value"

4
25/10/2015

Good location, not far from the great Sarasota beaches and downtown. Good value and near many restaurants. Easy parking and liked the complimentary breakfast. A map would be useful for room numbers, night staff not great with directions.

"Incredible"

5
24/10/2015

I was shocked how nice this hotel was for the price, cleanliness, and very convenient to all areas of interest. I would most definitely stay here again. Even though the breakfast was typical, it did have all the main stays for all types of eating suggestions.

"Fun Time"

5
20/10/2015

Ideal and close to Siesta Key beaches and villages. Best Western Plus was located near the beach, shopping, places to eat or nearly anything that you would need while staying in a town away from home.

"Siesta key visit"

19/10/2015

The hotel itself was amazingly beautiful, the staff was awesome. The only thing we didnt like was that the bartender did not allow us to drink near the pool or Jacuzzi area. Considering that the pool is in the enclosed area of the pool.

"A sunny wonderful vacation"

5
19/10/2015

We stayed from Oct 11 through Oct 17 2015 This was by far one of the best vacations we have had. Very clean , the rooms were always stocked with supplies. The lobby was well taken care of. When ever we went through someone always said "Hi". The bar was again well taken care of the bartenders Katrina and Jason we so much fun!! A hot breakfast every morning, coffee through the day and fresh baked cookies every day at 4:00 We flew from Hartford on Jet Blue. I recommend this airline to everyone. We will always fly Jet Bluenow . Never had a bad day always sunny and warm

"Good Location and Price"

4
16/10/2015

Located near the entrance to Siesta Key and close to the heart of Sarasota, this is a great location from which to plan your day trips. The rooms were adequate with a hot breakfast offered each morning. The pool was nice and has a bar located on the premise offering "Happy Hour" specials.

"Not bad for the price"

3
15/10/2015

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights: pool area was nice and had a bar but the staff seemed uninterested in taking drink orders and interested in watching the game on TV while having their back turned toward the customers. Quality of drinks was good though (if you could grab his attention to order). Room was neat and clean but the carpet exuded unpleasant dirty feet odor which could not be ignored. Wifi worked at all times. Quality of breakfast - below average but "free". Reception staff - warm and welcoming. All in all - not bad for the price and actually a bit better than what I was prepared to expect.

"WEEKEND TRIP"

"Mini Family Getaway....."

3
13/10/2015

The hotel is not far from Siesta Key Florida, just crossing the waterway about one mile west of the hotel and you are on the Siesta Key. I do not like to write very negative things about places, but this hotel for the price is a joke. The only good thing about this hotel was the Housekeeping staff and the cleanliness. O sorry I forgot the breakfast buffet was not that special, everything was sitting for a wile under the heat, so kind of dry and the staff's friendliness was sad. The so called bossboy never put gloves on himself when emptying the trash, than he went outside did a little gardening, smoke a cigaret came back in cleaned up on the buffet without gloves. The mattresses in the room are horrible. So I just will leave it at that. If you can please find other accommodations for your selfs. Thank you

"Stay at Best Western Plus Siesta Key, Sarasota FL"

5
12/10/2015

This is our second stay at this particular Best Western Plus. As our adult daughter was with us, we booked a suite. We stayed 3 nights so we got a very good rate. It was lovely having two bathrooms and TVs. There was a door between the living room section and the bedroom section so we really had privacy. Sarasota is a lovely city and its beach is one of the best in the country.

"Great Location to Siesta Key"

5
11/10/2015

We have experienced many vacations at a Best Western location. The Best Western in Sarasota was so conveniently located to Siesta Key public beach. It was a 5 minute drive to the beach and the parking and access to the beach was the best i have encountered in Florida! First, the price at the Best Western was affordable for such a prime location, the staff were very friendly and approachable, very clean rooms, parking a plus and a great pool. We had breakfast daily to an assortment of fresh fruit, egg dishes prepared daily, sausage, French toast, assortment of breads, cereal, and anything in between! A great way to start your morning! Coffee was available 24/7 and they have an awesome cappuccino machine. Have some fresh popcorn too located by the office. The Best Western is located on the Tamiami Trail and it is conveniently located near a Publix, restaurants and golf courses. Everything is a short drive around town. About one hour from Tampa International. This is definitely a re-do in the near future!

"nice hotel for the price"

5
10/10/2015

This was a very clean hotel, and had super comfortable beds. There is a really nice pool area, with a pool bar and fire pit seating. Breakfast was also good and they offer a free shuttle to the beaches or any where near the hotel.

"Great hotel! Great location! Nice Amenities!"

5
09/10/2015

This hotel was a nice surprise! Very clean, nice selection for breakfast and a great pool/spa area. Shuttle available to take you to the beach or to the shops. Location is close to shops, drug stores and the beaches! Even has a great sitting area by the pool with a beautiful fire pit. Would definitely stay here again!

"Good Hotel"

Very happy with the hotel. Loved the pool and the pool bar where you could get drinks and food. There was a great variety of food for breakfast. The hotel was very clean and the exterior was very attractive. Ice and soda machines on every floor was a definite plus. Recycling is very important to me and was very pleased to see a recycling bin on each floor. I feel they care about people and the environment.

"Definitely consider this hotel as an option on your next trip to Siesta Key!"

My fiance and I chose this hotel last minute as a quick "cheap" vacation spot and I can tell you we got more that we thought we would! We were so happy with the choice. The staff is super friendly and the breakfasts are different every day and plentiful. The beds and the pillows were comfortable and the room had all the amenities, including: microwave, refrigerator (no freezer), hair dryer, nice TV and moderately quiet A/C. The coffee was just so/so but it was available both in the room and the lobby all day as well as popcorn in the lobby all day. The workout room was small but good equipment. The location was right on the way to Siesta Key, so it was close to the beaches. We had a very small rental car and it was perfect for zooming around the keys. There is every restaurant and coffee/ice cream shop that you could imagine around the area. The pool and hot tub were nice and there is a pool bar. Definitely recommend.

We stayed here for several weeks while looking for our winter retreat. The room was a double with 2 baths, separate living room ,microwave, mini fridge etc. Just perfect for an extended stay. The staff is great and the room was kept clean everyday. We felt like we lived there and the front desk staff and housekeeping were old friends....this is a great place to stay!!

In town for a reunion and wanted to be near beach. This hotel is very good for family vacations near the beach and includes breakfast. Hotel clerk Yvette was very attentive to our requests during our stay. She offered us popcorn as soon as we checked in. Breakfast is perfect and has a lot of variety. Breakfast Hostess Stacey was very friendly and attentive and kept the coffee and food coming despite all the people trying to eat in the morning. All the staff we saw were always smiling. I believe this is a family run hotel and it shows in the pride of the facility and staff. We will be back.

Arrived early-around noon, (a business trip for one night), there was one room available, it was a garden-pool view however we paid extra for the pool view. We picked this because we knew the pool is closed at 10:00 and should be quiet on this side. It was, and we had a great night sleeping. Didn't wake up once! Bed was very comfortable. We did go to the pool bar (They offer a drink ticket) and had a drink, bartender was nice, sporting games on tv, and we chatted with him a bit. e didn't use the pool as it was raining, however looked nice. The morning they offered breakfast, fruit, eggs, sausage, juice, coffee. The coffee had grounds in it, floating. I prefer my coffee without the grounds- would have been better without!
