    « Room 222 »

If you value your sleep and are not a night owl Room 222 is not for you. Establishment next door which butts up next to the bed wall empties glass bottles into dumpster repeatedly after 10PM. Noise bearer between 2nd and 3rd floor could be improved. Great location and friendly staff though.

    « Delightful stay. »

Wonderful stay. Friendly and efficient staff. Clean rooms and lobby. Quality breakfast buffet. Convenient location to major attractions in Santa Barbara. Good amenities. Abundant and fair price for parking.

« The night before surgery. »

My wife and I went there the night before my surgery. The Harbor view was great, we sat out that evening after walking to the pier for dinner. It is a great place to stay, the staff is very friendly and helpful. We will stay there again.

« great location, nice rooms, helpful staff »

Rooms were really nice--clean, well-decorated. The location was across the street from the harbor and beach and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The staff was very helpful and nice. The only issue I had was the noise level.

« NO LONGER PET FRIENDLY »

This is such a great location for a stay in Santa Barbara. I have stayed here in 2014 and 2017 - never with pets but remarked both times that pets were allowed. However, in 2017, management changed the policy to No pets allowed. Service animals (?) are ok but my cat would not qualify. I do love my cat.

    « Friendly Staff »

We stayed in a newly renovated room, very clean. Breakfast was good. Close to harbor so we did some walking around. The only thing I think they should do is tell you there is a $5 parking fee. We did not know about that til we arrived. We booked on hotels.com and all it said was self parking. Friendly staff and made a great recommendation for dinner!

    « Clean and Orderly »

The breakfast was great and most of all was clean and sanitary. The breakfast area was well managed with a nice variety and replenished clear to the time it closed. A great value for Santa Barbara. Next to the Beach.

    « Great Updated rooms »

Very happy with the location by the beach and harbor. We stayed in a newly renovated room and it was very nice. Fresh fruit at breakfast was appreciated. Owner/manager was very visible greeting guest and offering services.

« Fabulous place to stay »

Fabulous location, great breakfast & staff. Nicest Best Western we have stayed in as the rooms newly renovated. Positioned just across from the water within walking distance to shops. Pool is clean & private with towels supplied.

« Newly renovated room and great location »

This location was excellent and a short walk from the harbor. The room was very clean and new. The breakfast was substantial with lots of fresh cut fruit and eggs (also cookies out front in the evening). There were a few concerns but I think that might be why the price on the app I used was so low. Our room was across from the Ice machine and vending machine and next to a entry door to the rest of the building which slammed every time someone went through. I also think the room was a handicap accessible room because the shower was huge with a glass door but was not in a separate room (which was awkward for even an old married couple ) Otherwise, I would have rated this as a 4 star. But as mentioned previously, we good the room for a good price.

« Wonderful place to stay in Santa Barbara! »

This hotel is fantastic! The room location and staff are all wonderful great value for the money. We had a Harbor View room which despite being on a main Boulevard was very quiet and relaxing. The rooms are recently remodeled and beautiful. We will definitely return!

« Manager lies in his emails »

Booked a stay for December. The week of my stay was the start of the thomas fire. I had an event I planned to attend saturday so that was the reason for the booking. Thursday evening I get an email stating that event is postponed. Unfortunately cancel policy was thursday 4pm. I reached out to best western about felxibility with cancel policy due to the fire etc, was ignored. Showed up, smoky area, pool is outdoors so couldnt use it. Just a poor stay altogether as my event was not taking place, couldnt use the pool, and the nearby area was ashy and covered with smoke. But if I dont show up, I take a hit on my rate. I did a follow up survey with best western and the manager emailed me back stating that I could have cancelled the room without issues(thanks for letting me know BEFORE) and to contact him if he can be of further assistance. I reached back out to him two weeks ago after his email and still nothing. As an FYI, a few days prior to my stay I received an email welcoming me for my upcoming stay, why couldnt they have also sent out an email saying that cancel deadlines would be flexible due to the conditions?

« Thin walls, great location »

Located right in front of the ocean, it was beautiful. Nice to walk around and take in the views. right by the pier, Perfect for lunch or dinner. Not super close if you are trying to stay on state street. I think we walked about 3 miles in and 3 miles back. Rooms were clean, bed was comfy, walls are thin. My husband and I went with his parents, we could hear their entire conversation. These are adults speaking in a normal level, not kids yelling. We could hear families with kids running upstairs and being loud, but they settled down around 11pm so it really wasn't bad. Breakfast was good, no big surprises. Great rooms, but if you're a light sleeper it might be an issue.

« Mediocre hotel in a mediocre area »

The pics were nice. We were excited. Then we arrived and were given a standard room when we paid for a balcony room. I asked to be switched but no. I figured we'd just make the best of it. The bed was a bit uncomfortable, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Then I woke up in the middle of the night with both feet numb. It turned out the bed was higher at the foot than at the head. I wen't to the desk and was assured that they are going to start a multi-million dollar renovation. Didn't do us much good though. In the morning we decided to walk around the area. I mean Santa Barbara! Nope. Drab and dreary area to match the hotel.

    4
« Right on the beach front »

For a more 'traditional' motel type hotel rooms were high end décor and comfort. The pool was an added bonus alothugh it is over looked by all the passageways to the door and in the middle of the building - welcome to cool down after a hot morning sightseeing though.

    3
    « Not very comfortable »

Staff was excellent, but room location is RIGHT ON THE SIDEWALK. If you're on the first floor, you can't open curtains because you'd be on display. Street noise even late when the street sweeper goes by. Decor is "cold" and spartan. Really not a very comfortable hotel for the price.

    5
    « Great Location »

This hotel provides a hotel experience far above the price they charge. The rooms are nicely appointed, clean, and quiet. This hotel is close to the harbor and many fine boutique eateries. I would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

    5
« Exceptional service and genuine caring »

We stayed here when the torrential rain and mudslides hit this area. The manager kept us well informed of the situation, and was sure to check in with us to be sure we stayed safe. We were unable to continue on to our next destination due to road closures, and they were able to book us another night without a problem. The manager even checked with us the next morning to be sure we were aware of road closures and areas we needed to avoid. Excellent customer service and a clean and comfortable hotel. I'd stay there again!

    5
« Excellent stay at a great location »

This hotel has been recently renovated with updated rooms and a new larger breakfast area. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and took care of our every need. It is right across the marina and next door to a park and the community college. We will be staying here again on our next trip.

« Comfortable but too noisy »

We enjoyed the comfortable pillows and beds and the cleanliness of the room. But noise from nearby rooms during the night was a problem for us and for another couple traveling with us who had another room elsewhere in the hotel. Also the bathroom was difficult to use because the toilet was much too close to the tub./shower.

    4
« Not elegant but nice »

Little in the way of elegance or upscale, however, the room was extremely clean, comfortable and close to everything. There's a very nice pool, and just down the walkway from our room we found a charming patio to sit and enjoy the coast. It was less than a ten minute walk to the pier and State Street, so you can leave the car behind for a parking fee of $5.00 a day. A bargain in itself! Friendly staff, coffee, tea and fruit in the lobby 24-7 and a free breakfast. Really? An amazing little find in the big city.

    5
    « An Excellent Hotel »

I'd heartily recommend this hotel. I stayed here two years ago and again in Decemeber 2017. This time, the hotel has been refurbished to a high standard, with spotlessly clean and beautifully appointed rooms and a light and airy breakfast area. Complimentary breakfast is comprehensive and appetising, and the staff are kind and helpful. The hotel is located on the shoreline, opposite the marina, which makes it convenient for atmospheric dining at Brophy's - a more authentic experience than those found on State Street. This hotel is my choice when in Santa Barbara.

    4
    « Great Location »

I stayed here in October, it was rather during hot weather time period for this area. The hotel is conveniently located between Stearns Wharf and the Harbor Wharf. The room was clean, the bathroom was clean. A swimming pool is in the center of the complex. The area is quiet, the staff is friendly. The breakfast was on the light side. You are walking distances to the wharves for eating and sightseeing. Right across the street from the hotel is the beach and a hike/bike pathway. Air conditioner worked well. I would stay here again

« Great Job during tough times »

I was in town on business and it was during the fires. Everyone was so nice and other then the soot the hotel was perfect. They should get a spa but great job. I love this place and the people here are the best.

« Prison toilet in closets »

Skip this place until remodel is complete. No hot water on third floor king room.Toilets in 29'' wide closet, so impossible to spread legs wide enough to wipe properly.Female staff great, gentleman somewhat a smartty pants. Hotel was empty , when I ask about another room with diffrent toilet lay out he smirked and refused to even consider it all though my original reservation was for a quern suite, i was upgraded to a king room with prison toilet.

    « FILTHY »

As Best Western Rewards Member: Room not only filthy, bed soggy, when complained was met with excuses and justifications. Have to pay for parking. My $110 (for being a rewards member) room added up to $156 in charges?! I travel here every month and will never stay here again.

    3
    « nice, but expensive »

We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms, which was quite nice, but the overall hotel has a very motel-like feel to it. The lobby looks cheap, the breakfast room and buffet look cheap, and that would be fine if the price were equally cheap - but we paid a good deal of money (for an additional $50/night, we could have stayed at a much higher end place). The location is very convenient, the hotel is very clean, and the staff is lovely. And again, our room was new and fresh and well decorated - it was just too expensive for what it is.

« Gus at front desk provided superior service »

This is the first time I've ever given a review on Trip Advisor but was compelled to do so because of Gus. This was our first time in Santa Barbara and immediately Gus welcomed us to town and gave us an good overview of the hotel property and area. At one point there was a small issue with our room - Gus quickly remedied this and went to great lengths to make sure we were satisfied with the resolution. I should also mention that all of our interactions with your staff were very positive. Everyone was friendly and professional and made our stay overall very pleasant. My experience would say that good service starts at the top- assuming that Management treat the staff well and that in turn staff pass along the the Good Will to the customers. Kudos to all- esp Gus!

    « Exploring Santa Barbara »

Beautiful hotel near harbour and Ocean. Walking distance. Most helpful, friendly staff. Very knowledgeable about things to do in area. Breakfast is very good. Very safe and clean. Must give extra kudos to Christopher at breakfast. He made our days start off in a happy relaxed manner. All staff are welcoming and attentive. Great job.

« Best location and gluten free muffins r breakfast »

We stayed here Thanksgiving day. The staff was more than friendly and polite...great people skills. The newly remodeled room looked like an ad for Living Spaces...really nice(nothing like a hotel room). The location is great for walking to State Street and Stearns Wharf. The property is very quiet. The breakfast buffet is complete...eggs, sausage, fruit, breads and gluten free bread or muffins if you ask. The breakfast room is large and well decorated. The tv screens had nature and soft music playing...no news. This was a totally wonderful experience.

« Amazing location and service!!! »

By FAR, the BEST service I've had at a moderately priced hotel EVER. The price was great, although we were able to use our Best Western points for a free room, so even better. But even for the rate it was listed at, which was somewhere around $135 + tax, this would have been a STEAL! Location was amazing, right on Cabrillo Street overlooking the Harbor. Easily walkable to everything at the harbor, the beach and state street. You could rent bikes close to there and ride all day. The room was nicely upgraded with a balcony overlooking the harbor. They had enough towels in the room, which was shocking. We usually have to ask for at least one more. Bathroom amenities were very nice. The best thing about this place was the service though. Upon checking in we were greeted and checked in by a VERY nice young man. He was super helpful and knowledgeable regarding the property and surrounding area. We were assisted later by two female employees who were equally friendly. On the day we checked out, while eating breakfast, which was great (also free), a very nice young man working the buffet took the time to check on us and even signed "Hello" and his name to my aunt and uncle who are deaf. Chris, you have no idea how much this meant to them and to me! You are all WONDERFUL employees and made a short trip that much more enjoyable. We'll be back and as a travel agent, I will now send ALL of my clients to your hotel!

« Loved the new rooms »

Wonderful stay at a great location. Enjoyed breakfast, being close to the beach and surprisly quiet being on the corner. The staff did a great job and the room was clean and comfortable! Great job on the additions!

    « Great Location & Awesome Staff!! »

Two best parts about staying here were: (a) Great location, one can walk to the beaches and state street in minutes. (b) The staff< everyone that we interacted with at this hotel be it the kitchen staff or front desk...they were very warm and friendly.

    3
    « Excellent location/ Pleasant Staff -- Needs A Major Renovation »

This is our go to hotel when we visit our son at SBCC..... It is in an excellent location and the staff is very welcoming. However, this is not where we'd stay if we were looking for a romantic getaway. Hotel is in need of a major renovation...... I do know one wing of the hotel is having rooms remodeled. We stayed in the Parkside wing for a 2nd time. Those rooms are musty smelling and carpets soiled. Staff is very welcoming and the breakfast provided is okay. Cookies in the lobby (afternoons) are a yummy bonus.

    4
    « Great view »

We had a spacy room with balcony. Large room, friendly and helpful staff. Great view on the harbor. Continental breakfast available. Free Wi-Fi and plenty of parking space. Beside the fact you go outdoor to the room and lobby everything was perfect.

    5
    « Wonderful location »

Location just perfect, room clean and price bareable. The breakfast is good by American standard, mediocre by (north) European standard. Our room was just renovated, the balcony solution was bit odd, 2 meter high concrete walls all around. We stayed 4 nights and I might consider visiting again which I usually never do. Parking very easy and spacious.

    5
    « Stop over »

My husband & I stopped here on our way up the coast, we got a room with a balcony that looked out at the water. The room is clean, the bed is comfy. I would definitely recommend this hotel & we will stay again if we're back in California

    5
    « a real treasure »

We knew nothing about this hotel but just needed a place to stay on our trip to San Diego. The location was fantastic - across the street from the harbor, a little walk to some perfect restaurants and it even had a lovely park across the street too. On arrival the parking was easy and the greeting inside was warm and cordial. The rooms were newly redone perfectly. Ours was small but very clean, simply stylish, well organized and very functional. The breakfast was wonderful and served in a newly remodeled dining area. We met the manager just after breakfast who was clearly interested in his endeavor. He was just a great guy with a good sense about what he wanted to do with this property. We would absolutely stay there again.

  • 4
    « Great location »

Near Ocean with good views. The staff is very very very customer conscious. They have good people working at this hotel. This location is great for Santa Barbara, it is just North of the Harbor and West of the main Santa Barbara pier (Beach faces South). Its NOT "upper end", but for the price in Santa Barbara, its a niece place to vacation, or take the family, or visit someone in the area. For Hotels its expensive, just like everything that has to do with property in this area.

    4
« Great location, wonderful hospitality! »

It was a real pleasure to stay at the Beachside Inn. Great location, wonderful staff from the General Manager on down. The check-in process was great, they were able to offer an upgrade to an ocean view, balcony room! The breakfast was very good and the attendant in the dining room was especially helpful. It was an overall wonderful experience.

    5
« Great new rooms added »

We were lucky enough to get upgraded to one of the hotel's new rooms. They are tastefully fitted out with all you could need. They are quiet and have a huge amount of space. The breakfast was fantastic and the staff could. Not have done more for us. Loved this hotel. Great location and heaps of amenities.

    3
    « Average »

There was nothing quiet or relaxing about this hotel! Not sure Best Western aims for those qualities but that is what I took away from my weekend stay of 3 nights. On intersection of two noisy roads. No soundproofing in rooms. Can hear other rooms. Housekeeping vacuuming all day. Maintenence steam cleaning corridor most of Saturday, painting pool fence majority of Sunday. I have a knee problem and walking to attractions/restaurants was just a bit too far from here for me. Looked closer on map. We used Lyft and it was very convenient but I do like to walk and would have paid more to be closer. Staff very friendly. Room clean. Breakfast convenient. Beds nice but they did change the sheets when we did not request it and was totally unnecessary. Also our room looked out on a park that was only used by the homeless. Not that it was a bad thing but it was sad for us. I'd never been to Santa Barbara and so I relied on reviews to decide on hotel choice. We had a great time but I would not stay here again.

« Better than expected. loved the extra touches »

Great hotel in a great area. they do a superb breakfast and renovated lounge and rooms make it worth the money. the rooms are clean and nice décor. SB is expensive and we have stayed at several hotels on the beach and this is the best value so far. you can walk to pier and all conveniences and SBCC. loved it.

    5
« Terrific Location. Great Staff »

First thing, tell Harvey, the General Manager, I said hello. Staff was great; makes sure your stay if what you wanted. Free breakfast, with service! Excellent room with view of harbor. Totally remodeling in next six months so the property will be even better.

    3
« Good location for sightseeing. »

The hotel location is great for sightseeing. You can walk or catch a trolley to shopping and restaurants and beach. The hotel rooms are outdated but they are in process of being updated. There is a pool area that is shady most of the time.

    « Santa Barbara »

If you want a romantic get away with your loved one, this is the place to go. I used my Hotel Points for this stay and it was wonderful. I plan on doing this vacation again next year with my wife. Best Western Beachside Inn had great staff, the room was clean, shower was large and the bed was great.

    2
« Small room and they charged for parking »

Room smelled and A/C didn't work right. Shower didn't work right and was difficult to operate And they charged for parking!!! This was the first time I have ever paid for parking at a hotel. They did' even explain the charge to us but the charge showed up on my bill. They also didn't let us stay till 1. Breakfast was ok. Staff was ok I have stayed at many hotels in Santa Barbara. This was by far the worst and most expensive.

    1
« No sleep two out of 3 nights. No room service 1 night »

Nice location on hotel. Staff are friendly but have to interest to address issues or follow up. Noise was ridiculous for 2 nights out of 3 and no room service one day. Good breakfast and friendly staff. No suggested remedy when I checked out and not a hint the issues would be fixed in the future. No apparent security at night

Brilliant location facing the gorgeous beach. Addition of breakfast was a bonus. The staff are all quite young but very helpful, friendly and efficient. This hotel is definitely well worth a visit when your in Santa Barbara

    « beachotel »

Room was very good. It was clean and well appointed. We had some issue with the park next door, bright and noisy all night. Lots of homeless in the area. Bright lights in the balcony all night. The young lady attending the breakfast was bright, friendly and efficient.

    « Santa Barbara »

The room was set up nice with a private bedroom. The living room couch should be replaced it looked worn. Not inviting to sit on. The breakfast was excellent with good choices and the area clean. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

    « Great Stay! »

This is a great property across the street from the beach in Santa Barbara. Delightful staff & stay!! I only stayed one night but would stay longer if in town for pleasure. Great Location! Very nice Best Western!

    « Good location »

Excellent location on the front, easy walking distance to the pier. The trolley bus passes the door. Room was large, bit dated but there are plans to renew. Super friendly reception staff. Excellent breakfast. Reasonable price in comparison with other places. Have to pay for parking. Fresh cookies in the reception everyday.

« Poor Customer Service & ANTS issues in the room »

My husband and I made a reservation at Best Western Beachside Inn at Santa Barbara in Aug 2017, a month ahead of our trip. We planned to celebrate our wedding anniversary here in September. When we checked in the hotel on September 22, Friday, I realized that the room (Room #103) they assigned us was very weird in design and configuration. The door is not facing the hallway like any other room, instead, is opened from a very short passage in the wall. The window is built next to a staircase wall. The entire room is wrapped by walls. It is like a cell instead of a hotel room, let alone view. I booked a room with pool access online. This room doesn't meet any of the requirements. I went to the front desk and expressed my opinion, and also emphasized that it was our wedding anniversary. I was told that the hotel was booked full. Front desk couldn't care less, and he told us there is nothing he could do, since the hotel was fully booked. I was sad, but accepted it, and went back to room. We took a shower, and at that time, I realized this room even has ANTS issues. There are some ants in the bath sink, on the walls and floors. I also saw a few in the living area. I called front desk again, and he came in and checked it. Initially he told us he could check us out and find another room for us. However when we packed our stuff and walked to front desk, he told us that since we booked our room via hotel.com, he can only assign a technician to check the room, and give us $50 discount. If we decided to leave the hotel because of the ants, we would still need to pay for the night. I felt we were treated so unfairly. In the whole process, the front desk was being very indifferent, and couldn't care less. We ended up leaving the hotel with wet hair on a Friday (busy) night, and spending 1 hour standing in the wind to find another hotel for the night. This hotel doesn't worth the money at all. I was very disappointed.

« Best Western Beachside Inn Santa Barbara »

Very nice hotel across the street from the beach and marina. We booked a room with a balcony which was a terrific idea! Lovely view and just the privacy we needed. Room was large and very clean. Bathroom well appointed, ample closet space with room for storage under the sink. Microwave, fridge--made our 4 night stay very pleasant. The hotel is on the route for the great little trolley that takes you back and forth either downtown to State street area or all the way down to the end of the line along the beach. Super easy and cheap way to get around. Would definitely stay again. GET THE BALCONY ROOM! So worth it!

« Nice location. Motel could be so much more.... »

It's a nice dated place that is currently under renovation. We enjoyed the location and it was an average Best Western hotel. I don't have any memory of the staff outlining that parking was a separate charge and had to call the hotel after our stay to understand the difference between our reservation and the final cost.

« Too much money for so little »

Felt like a Motel 6 with a luxury price. Did not get the harbor view we asked for in advance and the balcony with bend plastic chairs overlooked a park full of sleeping drifters. Staff was very nice and breakfast great. Cheaply remodelled. Location is less than.

Nice hotel with new upgrades. I have stayed here many times and they are going a great job with the new rooms and breakfast area. It is right on the beach and close to restaurants and the pier. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help. This is a great value.

    « Location , Location »

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room had an unobstructed view of the harbor and the beaches. The wharf and pier were only four blocks away. Down town Santa Barbara was a mile to two away. Very relaxing and enjoyable place to visit.

    « Excellent Customer Service »

My family ? hubby, mother-in-law and 8 month old were in town for one night when a freak storm blew in. Someone called it a mini tornado or microblast. Needless to say, trees fell, debris was scattered on the road and flooding on some streets. When we arrived at the hotel, it was just calming down. A tree had fallen in their car park which was blocking cars from entering and leaving and there was a power outage! The two young gentleman at reception were checking people in the old style way (the computers were down). They used their initiative and were very professional and extremely patient. I think it was because of this, that none of the customers became aggravated. Hats off to the two guys that day, they really were terrific. Also, at breakfast, the ladies working that morning were very nice and courteous. The beds are on the softer side but the space is comfy.

« Great location, Basic rooms, Decent price. »

While Santa Barbara is a fairly expensive area this hotel was very reasonably priced. The rooms are basic but ideal for an overnight stay. There's a small outdoor pool but the hotel is in short walking distance of the stunning beach and pier so didn't need to use it. Breakfast was good and included in the price. If you want to stay in Santa Barbara and not pay the earth this is a great choice .

    « 2-star hotel that charges 5-star prices »

Very unpleasant atmosphere with lots of repairs and cosmetic matters to be addressed. Charged us $351 for a single night and it was worth less than half that. The location is great but the rooms are not very clean, have an odor, are not quiet and the service is as basic as it gets.

« Great location, spacious room and friendly staff »

Stopped over for one night to explore Santa Barbara for the evening and morning before we left. We didn't mind the little walk into town, as we had the beach and buildings to look at. You pretty much get what you pay for, and I mean that in a positive way! A good nights sleep with a good breakfast. As said in the title, the staff were always friendly and also very welcoming. Just two points that has nothing to do with the hotel but: Our room was facing a park type place and as we arrived, there were a lot of people on the grass making noise. There was also one man shouting and swearing at another! Thankfully this didn't continue until late. Secondly, whilst my brother and I were walking downstairs towards the lobby, we encountered a man who was peeing in an outdoor bin. He seemed to follow us towards the lobby but I didn't look behind me, I could hear him swearing though! I should've informed the receptionist immediately, but was a little taken aback and let him know when we returned to the hotel a couple of hours later. The receptionist was shocked too and was apologetic, but I said not to be as it wasn't his fault at all! Overall, despite the mishap that was a little odd, I would stay here again and do recommend it based on the welcoming staff and very nice rooms!

« 'Best' location - walking distance to all West Beach sights. »

We hit the 'American Riviera' every year to visit friends and have stayed here the past two trips. The rooms are nice sized and clean, a small but nice pool area, wonderful staff and a good breakfast served up daily in their newly enlarged and remodeled dining area - scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon & potatoes, along with basic 'grab & go' offerings. Located right across the street from the Harbor with many choices for lunch & dinner. Stearns Wharf is a short stroll for other restaurants and shops, as well as State Street for more of the same. They are building a new wing of rooms, so there was some construction noise right now during normal working hours, but that will be only temporary. All in all, a great value!

    « Weekend retreat »

Very convenient walk to the beach, pier and many restaurants. Everyone on the staff have been wonderful. Most importantly the room is very clean! Only problem we had was the bathroom light and fan did never turned off (switch/sensor). Includes a hot breakfast, pretty standard, but the staff kept everything clean and frequently checked. We even were given espresso. Again a great staff!

    « Great hotel »

Excellent location.. Some rooms with balcony offering direct harbor and ocean view; Outstanding staff. Good breakfast. Easy access to views, facilities and restaurants at the harbor. Weekend rates are PRICY!

    « A great stay! »

Have always had a great stay here in Santa Barbara. Friendly staff. On site parking. Pool side rooms. Harbor view rooms. Very nice breakfast in the morning. There are usually fresh baked cookies at the front desk.

« Very Average, didn't have our room type available »

We really only booked this hotel because it was "waterfront" and had a 2 room suite option which gave us some flexibility with our 1 year old going to bed earlier than us. Needless to say when we walked into our regular 2 queen hotel room we were extremely disappointed. We called the front desk and apparently they had "oversold" that type of room, and they had nothing else to offer us. I would have booked another hotel had I known they wouldn't have that room type. POOR showing by Best Western. My reservation clearly states "Junior Suite, Separate Living Room." We were credited $50 for our 2 night stay, but that doesn't make up for the inconvenience. This hotel is NOT as close to State Street / beer district / restaurants as you would think and as it appears on the map. Yes, there is a "free" (aka pay $0.50) shuttle that sometimes decides to make an appearance outside the hotel, but mostly it just circles as far as State Street then you're stuck walking the extra quarter mile back to the hotel. Buyer beware; I would highly recommend booking Hotel Milo that takes up a good 1-2 waterfront blocks and is much more convenient. Overall very average. We weren't even told there was a free breakfast so missed out on 1 day of it. Housekeeping didn't come until 3pm one day, so we had to smell our baby's dirty diapers until then. The pool is very small. I found trash under our bed. They charged $5/day for parking and yet it didn't say that anywhere on our reservation... I don't know, even for the AAA rate plus the inconvenience discount I received I wouldn't book here again. Maybe a good bet just for passing through town on your own or as a couple. Normally these things wouldn't bother me to save a few dollars, but with a kid they were all dealbreakers.

« Best Western Santa Barbara »

Nice old hotel in a great location near the harbor and a short walk from the pier, downtown Santa Barbara and a mile or so from the zoo. Surprisingly quiet given it's location on a busy road. Good value for the money.

    4
« Best Western Beachside is a go »

The hotel is very quaint and right across the street from the beach in Santa Barbara. It was clean, hotel staff was very helpful. We will definitely stay there again. For the location, the price was great.

    « Very nice! »

The room was very nice. We were on the 3rd floor facing the ocean. The view was okay. We could see the water off to the left but trees blocked the view directly in front of the room, but we didn't mind that. If you don't mind walking, the "funk zone" and State Street are just a couple of blocks away. Get to the funk zone early, because the tasting rooms close early. The pool was heated which was very nice for an evening swim. One thing to be noted, I was surprised at the amount of homeless people in the area, especially on State Street. But that isn't the hotel's fault. Although, I would be careful walking back to the hotel at night, especially if you're not in a group, since it is a little ways away. We had one homeless man follow us for a little while and it made us feel very uneasy. But, again, not the hotels fault. Just keep aware of your surroundings.

    5
    « GREAT PLACE! »

Friendly staff, internet, free parking, great pillow, great bed, breakfast, fresh cookies, coffee, tea, pool with the right temperature, across the street from the beach, what else can I ask for? I wish they do give out a little bit specials so that way I can come more often?

« Excellent stay in a stunning location »

This was a holiday long in The planning. We stayed here for 8 fantastic nights, never having visited California before. The location is perfect, between the wharf and the harbour. Our room was amazing with stunning views of the beach and boats and mountains. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and Harvey, the manager, was great suggesting places to see or eat. The trolley bus stops right outside so you can visit anywhere along the sea front (as far as the zoo) and downtown. The breakfast area was roomy (never had trouble finding somewhere to sit) and the options were tasty (including eggs, etc). I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough and I can't wait till I'm back on that balcony watching the pelicans and herons and ships in this little slice of paradise.

    4
    « Great location »

Very basic for the money, but you are paying the the location. The staff are great and Christopher at breakfast is brilliant. Cleanest breakfast area I have ever seen! There are renovations going on but they did not impact on us at all. I would stay again.

    « Great for a short stopover »

We were initially unsure on arrival as the hotel looks a little like an upmarket motel, however the place grew on us and by the time we left after 2 nights we were really happy with our visit. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They are currently doing some renovations to improve the hotel further. The hotel manager was always around making sure that everything was being taken care of especially at the free breakfast. They were trying really hard to make sure everyone had what they wanted at breakfast and you could see the staff worked well as a team together. Nice to come back to the pool after walking round Santa Barbara (State Street - main shops and restaurants- just up the road). Good location on the waterfront. Worth a try if you want to be in a good location and in town for a short visit.

« Still major construction going on ... »

As we booked there were no notice that the building is still under major construction. When I told the front desk he noted and went on. So basically he didn't care about my complain. We are in Santa Barbara for vacation and I would love to sleep in and not get woken up by construction work !! Furthermore the housekeeping is doing a great job to keep the rooms clean but the the rooms are just old and very used. The location is good. Very close to Stare Street and the beach. But beside that it was not worth the money and I already considered that Santa Barbara is an expensive place.

    4
« Very good hotel in convenient location »

I stayed here with a group of friends. My room was a good size, clean and fully-functioning. The staff were extremely good - friendly, helpful and excellent service. Free wifi and breakfast -- and what is more the breakfast was actually worth eating -- good variety of hot and cold buffet choice. It's an easy walk to the bars and restaurants on State Street and just 0.5 miles to the railroad station. It's even closer to the beach which is just across the street. Bed was comfortable and room was quiet.

    5
    « Convenience and Service »

Very good hotel with excellent service. The hotel is adjacent to Santa Barbara Beach and within walking distance of the Santa Barbara Boardwalk. The shuttle across the road takes you to the Boardwalk and to businesses along State Street.

    3
    « Amazing Staff »

The hotel is old but is currently going through major renovations. Location is great...near the beach, shops, restaurants, etc. The pool was clean and appeared to be well maintained and the staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The breakfast buffet, included with the room, had a nice array of choices and the staff were continually bringing out fresh items. There was plenty of on-site parking.

    5
« Great Location and Spotless »

This hotel was in a great location. Walking distance to the pier. Right across from the beach. The hotel was spotless. They were renovating and updating while we were there, so it will be even better. There was a small but fun pool that was full of rubber duckies and small beach balls. My kids had as much fun here as they did the beach. Thank you for helping make our vacation enjoyable!

    3
    « Solstice Weekend Stay »

Booked the Beachside Inn as a great way to be close to both the water and State Street for a weekend girls trip. Little did we know that the Solstice celebration and parade would fall on the same Saturday. Turned out to be a fun time but would have been nice to know from the hotel staff when first booking. We got a park-side room. Nice small balcony, quiet street, but giant power lines cutting right through your view. Also, since this is a beachside hotel, prepare for the room to smell of moist salt air and a slightly damp feeling to the carpet. Overall, you are paying to be close to the beach and the hotel was clean and well-managed, but pretty poor quality for the overall price.

    5
    « Great place overall »

This is a great little find, right on the beach, comfortable renovated rooms that are clean and simple, daytime snacks and coffee/water/tea all day, nice hot breakfast in the morning. Truly a good value!

« Quick Trip to Santa Barbara »

Wanted to go to Santa Barbara and chose BW as hotel due to convenience and location to beach. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Would most definitely stay here again. Hopefully the construction will be complete and maybe they will add a Jacuzzi to future renovations.

    « Great locación for your $$$ »

Excellent service, great location, elevator, A.C., large breakfast area, comfortable room. Close to beach area with facilities, restaurant and parking. Friendly and helpful staff...across from playground great for families with children.

    « Great View! »

We had an upper room with a balcony and view of the beach and Stearn's Wharf. The room was very quiet despite the road being directly below. Friendly staff at both check in and check out. While the hotel is undergoing some renovation, it did not interfere with our stay or inconvenience us in any way. We love coming to Santa Barbara and will plan to stay here on our next visit.

    5
    « Wow! »

Great location! Room was clean and comfortable. Pool area was nice. Breakfast the next morning he was very good, convenient and tasty. Service was prompt and caring overall. The proximity of the hotel to the beach and other attractions and restaurants was perfect. Will definitely stay here again and recommend to all my friends.

    4
    « NICE BUDGET HOTEL »

located at the end of the beach area, it is a nice budget hotel, but you need to uber if you want to be on State quickly, otherwise it is a 30 minute walk. Rooms are clean. Pool is nice. I would go back.

    5
    « Excellent »

Very comfortable and clean, price was extremely reasonable and the staff was very accommodating. A little too close to the restaurant and can hear the clean up they do at night but not so bad. Parking lot security can be a little tighter with people walking in and around it at night. Overall I had a great stay .

    5
    « Best espresso ever »

Soooo friendly staff and they made the best espressos ever (+++ for Wendy) and had both gluten and lactosefree options for breakfast! The location is good, not to far from downtown and ~100 from la playaa! We were supposed to stay one night but ended up staying four nights, think that says it all!!

    4
« Near the beach, clean, but long walk to the mall area and board walk »

We liked this hotel, they had good parking, helpful staff and good wifi. The hotel sits at one side of the beach road, near a park, and it is a good 25 minute walk to the warf or mall in town. We would have preferred a hotel closer. Given that, the hotel was great and we had not complaints.

    4
    « NIce Place »

Nice place near the harbor. The sofa was way too low. The light in the closet was on a motion sensor. Great going to the bathroom but seems to stay on too long. The breakfast was good, but the area was limited.

    4
    « Quick getaway »

Hotel staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Only con was the rooms were older, carpets need shampoo and bathroom tub needed work. Great Location hotel was literally steps from the beach and harbor.

    4
    « Love the location »

We have stayed at this location before and love that it is right across from the harbor and just a short walk away from Sterns Harbor. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The property is showing some signs of age, and they are currently in the midst of some remodeling (really need expanded breakfast room area). It is a little pricey for the appearance of the hotel and guest room amenities, but the location can't be beat.

    4
« Right Place, Right Time »

We overnighted here on our way north from LA and it proved a good place for a break, being right on the sea front (although at the far end of the beach) and in a quiet location. There was building work going on to extend the premises, though this caused no real disturbance or inconvenience and will enhance the facilities once completed. Our room was comfortable and clean, but had so little storage capacity that we hardly unpacked. The hot breakfast was welcome and offered decent choices - which was just as well since it is a long walk to the nearest alternative. Our room overlooked the superclean pool, and the sun loungers seemed to be well used; the parking lot was a good size and the staff that we encountered were helpful and attentive. We enjoyed a visit into the lively town centre so much that we stopped in for lunch on our return journey to LA!

« Great location and value »

This hotel has always been a great place for us , harbor view , nice complimentary bfast , walking distance to pier and state street ..... hotel construction is a little inconvenient but doesn't effect things too much !!!!

    « A little vintage, little loud »

The rooms are clean, and it's a little vintage. We were on the Harbor side, so could be noisy. But surprisingly not, the slider was great at keeping the street noise out. But room noise was another issue, you could hear people sneeze, cough, talk, walk, etc. Our ceiling fan didn't work, found that out at 2am..:/ Toilet us crazy loud, well as the bathroom fan. Might stay here again..

« Stay at Best Western Santa Barbara »

It was a nice hotel. Average price for the area which in my opinion is too high. The rooms were nice but the air conditioner did not work very well. My husband said it felt like he was in a steam room all night.

« OK if you must go to Santa Barbara »

First let me say that Santa Barbara is really expensive. We stopped here for one night as part of our road trip down the pch. If I had to do it over again I would just stop to see the mission and spend the night elsewhere. The Best Western Beachside was the most economical choice I could find in Santa Barbara. I chose the least expensive room category and still paid over $300/ night. The room was tiny and dark with one window that looked out at the walkway. The furniture was fine and the room was clean. All of the finishing s are updated and modern. If you choose this room category the elevator does not take you to your room level. You have to go down 4 stairs to get to the walkway outside your room. This is difficult with luggage. The breakfast was standard hotel continental breakfast but the breakfast room is small with not enough tables. Several people were trying to stand by the tables to eat and that made it even more difficult to get around. If you do choose to stay in Santa Barbara, this is a good value. I would spring for a larger room though. The location is pretty good and you can easily walk to restaurants.

    5
    « Beautiful view! »

Our room was clean, the staff was friendly, our view was GORGEOUS, and the hotel is close to everything! It was so convenient to be right on the beach, and in the mix of shopping and fun. Noise did not break through window sound barrier, so sleeping was no problem. The heated pool was nice for a relaxing dip after a long day of fun. We will be back SOON!

    4
« Great hotel close to wharf, pier, wineries, fun! »

Great hotel located across the street from the beach. Easy walking distance to restaurants, wharf, pier and wine walk. Also close to trolleys to see more of what Santa Barbara has to offer such as shopping, the old Mission, Courthouse or whatever else you'd like to see while visiting this beautiful town. Perfect for a one day or one week getaway! the staff was friendly, the room with balcony was clean, quiet and comfortable, The hotel is undergoing a remodel but we didn't hear any noise during our stay!

    5
« Very friendly and accommodating »

This was the best deal in town price wise. The room was great, and they upgraded us since we belong to the Best Western club. We had a large room, with king bed, with balcony overlooking the park. The road runs right under, but very quiet room. You can see the docks from the room and a small ocean view. We had just come from a two day diving trip and loved we could spread out all of our equipment to get organized. We will be staying here again!! Hot breakfast in the morning very good, which is included.

    5
    « Perfect for us »

This Family of five has great experience every time we book a best western and this sb location did not disappoint. Excellent service and we could walk to the pier from this location! We would definitely return. Breakfast was perfect with hot eggs with chives, bacon, potatoes and coffee.

    « Correction/addendum »

The complimentary breakfast was excellent and included scrambled eggs and sausage and cut fresh seasonal fruit. Parking however was NOT FREE as $5 was extracted at checkout. I would stay here again if needed.

    4
« Not fancy but clean and adequate. »

Situated across the street from the marina and Stearn's wharf area. There is a small beach for activities. The hotel is 3 stories and does have an elevator. It was very clean. An older facility but the room had a small refrigerator and microwave. There was free parking onsite. Staff were courteous.

    4
« A Work in Progress in A Great Location »

We selected a room with a balcony overlooking the bay and boat harbor. The view was fantastic, and the soundproof sliding doors kept the considerable noise on Cabrillo Blvd. below us to a minimum. Also, the location we thought was nice, since it was away from the hustle and bustle of State Street and the Wharf, and near the Breakwater and Boat Harbor where there were nice restaurants and stores. My wife swam at the huge public swimming pool across the street. It was strange that, initially, our HVAC was controlled by the front desk: to turn it on or off, or to change temperatures, you had to call the front desk. Then, magically, on the second day we were able to control the thermostat! Things in our room which still needed upgrading included: old closet doors; a well used and creaky front door; and a toilet which seemed like it was six inches off the ground (not good for baby boomers with bad knees).

    3
« Overpriced, But Well Located »

Staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and courteous. Incredible service on their part. The hotel room was way overpriced and very simple for what you pay. There is no ocean view (even though it's on the beach) and the amenities are lacking (no jacuzzi) and the furniture and decor are bland and basic.Great location though.

    4
    « A Night in Santa Barbara »

The hotel was a little pricey for what you get. A small pool, no hot tub. A broken lamp in the room. But the cable selection was excellent, AC and water were strong, and the location is amazing. Though pricey, it was the most reasonable one I could find in Santa Barbara.

    4
« Best Western name is Solid »

For value, location, and convenience we have found Best Westerns suit our needs well. There was a bit of racket out of a neighboring room, but not to the point that we had to raise a fuss. The beds were comfy, clean and so was the bathroom. There was some updating going on, and the continental breakfast was OK. Parking was handy, and the beach is right across the street. It's a little ways from State Street, but there are trollers running, so that is an option if you don't want to drive, however there is lots of parking uptown.

    5
« Best Western Beachside Inn, Santa Barbara »

Handy place to stay. Undergoing renovations and when finished, it will be really nice. Nice view of the harbor. Close to good restaurants and the water. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was hot.

« Great location and considerate staff »

Good location just across from the beach and accessible to downtown shops and restaurants as well as beach walks and harbor boat or kayak rentals. Friendly and considerate staff. Good breakfast. A bit pricey in prime summer travel times, but so are the others. We've stayed here before in winter, spring and summer months.

    5
    « Always excellent »

We love this hotel in SB. Great location- walk to the pier, sunrise stroll on East Beach. Rooms are large, not high end but well done and comfortable. Parking was free for years and now $5 / night. Still great for SB. Easy drive up the hill to the Mesa- and my favorite beach, Hendry's. Easy drive to State Street and lots of restaurants walking distance.

    5
« Location, Comfort, and Delicious Breakfast »

Great location just across from the beach, walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. Friendly staff. The room with two queen beds was a good size for four people and the beds were comfortable. Our favourite part was the continental breakfast in the morning, we found that for an inn it was above average and had a huge variety! Food was fresh and we left very full. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    « Best Western »

Decent place but disappointed in a few things. Our room faced a busy street. When I called and asked for a different room I was told that all of the types of rooms that I needed faced the street. Also, the men in the room next door to us were screaming at each other and starting physically fighting outside of our door when the staff did nothing about it after I notified them.

    5
    « Top Staff Team »

This Hotel has to have one of the best staff teams I have ever come across, always smiling and friendly they deserve a special mention. Great location for the town, beach etc. Well serviced rooms, and a great breakfast, it does seem unfair to even mention it, but why charge guests 5 dollars a night to park, it just seems petty when they have a really really large Car Park. One really nice touch "cookies" on the counter each night, made up for the Car Park fee !!!

    4
    « Nice location »

    « Short visit »

We visited Santa Barbara over weekend for college trip. Have stayed at a Best Western many times in different areas. This particular Best Western was aesthetically not pleasing - room decor, cramped etc. the room seemed dirty as well. Chairs had stains. Towels did not look freshly cleaned white. Eating area in lobby did not look clean - windows looking out to beach. To make matters worse the sound level was horrible in the room. Up all night due to walking and thumping sounds in room above! Did not sleep all night. I shared with front desk but person at the counter did not offer anything to accommodate. Will not stay here again.

« Best value, great location. »

« Good value for the location »

Located right between the Santa Barbara Pier and Sterns Wharf. Lots of shops and restaurants to walk to. Hotel has recently updated its decor and furnishings to a much higher quality. Only negative is they have started charging a $5/night parking fee. About the only hotel in the area that I can get into for my company's approved travel rate.

Hotel, movies, boat rides and etc Awesome walked to the old harbour restaurant and had fish and chips with A long island ice tea plus a shot vodak. This is the best location it across the street from a beautiful park and there is a Gas Station and 7eleven in a 2 block walking distance. Great Mexican food, Sushi and hibachi restaurant and Metro 4 movie theater. I also went to a Gentlemen's Club called Spearmint Rhino the ladies where beautiful. I had a good time :-)

« One of the BEST Hotel Experiences! »

This was our first trip to Santa Barbara and we were greeted with the warmest welcome by the general manager Harvey! He and all of his team absolutely made us feel like we were royalty and beyond special! He booked our beautiful dinner reservations right next-door at the beautiful restaurant called Toma, that's amazing menu and staff at that restaurant! Harvey and his staff are five-star five diamond all the way some of the friendliest people I've ever met, great recommendations for our long weekend in Santa Barbara this was our first days off together in three months and he made sure our stay was nothing but tremendous! They exceeded every single expectation I ever had and did not know I had! Location of this quaint hotel is absolutely superb right in the heart of Santa Barbara beautiful walking trails right in front of the marina absolutely divine property! I look forward to returning to this property and making this an annual trip due to the extraordinary customer service experience and overall satisfaction that we had, I highly highly highly recommend this hotel to everybody! we live in Vail Colorado and actually work in the ski and hospitality industry I have to say that this hotel is just as customer service focused as a five-star five diamond property!!!!!Thank you to Harvey and his team it was extraordinary!!!!!!

« It Does The Job For One Night With Kids »

My husband and I were reminiscing how when we were kids, when we went on road trips in the station wagon, we would always stop at motels like Days Inn, Quality Inn, Super 8... Now that we have our own kids, we realized that they've never had that experience. So we thought we'd keep them humble and stay at the Best Western Beachside Inn during our stopover in Santa Barbara. Let me tell you, it certainly does the job for one night! It felt like the good ol' days of when I was a kid... seriously, because the room and bathroom (although clean) look like it's from that era. The armchair in our room was shabby (without the chic). We didn't hang out in the room though, the hotel's location is excellent for going outside, it's across the street from the harbor/beach/short walk to the wharf. We liked that the lobby had coffee and hot chocolate and the free continental breakfast was an excellent perk. The fellow who was working the breakfast area was super helpful and hard-working - he noticed my son didn't like the eggs with chives, so he made my son some eggs without them. Very impressed. I wish I caught his name. Other things we liked but didn't use were our room's balcony which overlooked the nice park on Castillo Street and the swimming pool. The hotel gets an A for effort, you can tell they are really trying - the lounge chairs by the pool always had folded towels draped along the back, there are large potted plants in the halls to make the hallways look less dreary, and the hand towels in the bathroom were folded into fans... little stuff like that, I notice. Our only main complaint (that the kids are making me include in this review) was that the remote control to the television didn't work. We called the front desk who said they'd send someone to check on it in 10 minutes... about half an hour later, we couldn't wait any longer and went out to dinner. Alas, we never got to watch TV. Maybe that's a good thing, but still, would have been nice to have a working remote. If you are looking for a fancy resort, you can walk down Cabrillo Blvd - those hotels looked a lot nicer. However, if you are just going to stay the night, you don't want to spend a fortune, and you want something basic and clean with free breakfast, then the Best Western does the job.

    « Great location »

My husband and I stayed one night at this motel and found it entirely satisfactory: well located right on the beach and only a few minutes' walk to Stearns Wharf. We arrived ahead of check-in and the desk personnel were very cooperative in finding us a room quickly. The room was clean and well-appointed, pool area pleasant. A good choice.

Have stayed here before. This time limited parking due to remodel creating noise and dust. Handrail on balcony was filthy. Electrical in bathroom forced us to run an annoying fan in order to have light. Location is great

« Sub par quality and poor hospitality »

Our room was not ready upon our 3:00 arrival (check in time). We traveled from out of town and because I spoke with someone at the front desk earlier in the day and had specifically asked what time check in was, I planned our travels accordingly. It was disappointing and inconvenient to find that we had to wait until the staff returned from break to begin cleaning our room. The gentleman who checked us in around 4:00 gave us no instructions on finding the room or how to access the room. After searching around the back of the building, we found that the steps closest to our room were being painted so we had to carry all of our luggage the long way around. Check in time on a Saturday seems like an inappropriate time to do maintenance that will shut down access to the second floor. The location of the room itself was great, we really enjoyed the balcony and the view of the park. We also appreciate that the hotel offers air conditioning. We found hair in the bath tub and the floors were not vacuumed. By this time, we were just glad to be in our room because we had early dinner reservations downtown. While we were getting ready, one of the housekeepers walked into our room. No knock, no announcement, she just used a key and walked in. When she saw us, she said nothing but turned around and ran out. (I know this was an honest mistake but it added to our growing unpleasant experience and made my mother feel unsafe.) When we went to check out in the morning, the front desk clerk robotically asked us how our stay was. My mother and I looked at each other and decided not to relive our dissatisfaction. Then she pushed a slip of paper across the desk and asked me to sign. I was very surprised to find that my credit card- which I had authorized for a pre-auth only, had been charged for the full amount of the room. When I told her that I had wanted to pay cash, she seemed inconvenienced and told me that it would take three days for the refund to post to my card. As a matter of fact, this was inconvenient for me. I told her that the man who checked us in the day before said that he was running a pre authorization for $25, to which I agreed. I then told her that it would be helpful if they had been upfront about posting the full amount to the card. At that time, the other woman at the desk jumped in and informed us that this was a standard practice in all hotels. It truly is not. I restated to both of them that they should have been more communicative about this the day before to which she responded, "Yeah, we get it." We left it at that. I found the quality of service and of the room to be worth far below the price we paid. What we received is unacceptable at any level of hospitality. We came to Santa Barbara to celebrate my Mother's birthday. Our experience with this hotel was very disappointing.

« rude staff and not truthful »

we are Best Western Rewards members and try to use Best Western when travelling. Usually they are at least pleasant and provide fair service. After checking the website for this hotel and learning they had pet friendly rooms, and vacancies, we decided to stay here while in Santa Barbara. when we drove up to the lobby, exhausted after an all day drive, the first thing we were told, very rudely, was to move our car. Apparently it isn't permitted to park your car while you check inn. The officiuos you woman told us the police parked there. Why the police would need a parking spot in front of the lobby wasn't explained but it didn't sound encouraging. My husband expressed annoyance at being subject to this treatment before we had even checked in. then we tried to check in and were told the hotel wasn't dog friendly! this in spite of the fact the web site advertised dog friendly rooms. We weren't travelling with a pair of wolves. Just a pair of well behaved poodles. We are a respectable older couple who were rudely turned away from this hotel by an untruthful and rude front desk employee. we are glad, because we ended up staying at a much nicer place for the same price. If you are travelling with a car or a pet, steer clear of this place. What little we saw of it wasn't that appealing. Looked a bit like a tarted up motel 6. Actually, Motel 6 is probably nicer.

« Great management, very good buffet breakfast, across the street from the beach shot walk to the Harbor »

The room was very clean, good pillows, comfortable Bed, lovely large towels, and my husband loved the double shower head , looking for one to buy! Poolside, room was small but ok for the price. Santa Barbara is one of the loveliest cities in California, should not be missed

    3
« Convenient but Noisy Location »

Rooms are spacious. Staff was courteous. Free breakfast had a good variety even for vegetarians. The location is convenient to highway. That should make a traveler ready for highway or road noise. The advantage is that there is a public park across the street where people can walk, stretch, etc.

    3
    « Nice location »

We stayed two nights in room 307, liked the top floor room with a balcony (sadly no seating on balcony) with a view of the park across the street and slight view of the harbor also. Property features a small heated pool in the center courtyard, with plenty of chaises, seating and towels available for guests poolside. The breakfast area can get very cozy in the hotel lobby, best to get in early grab a couple of goodies to go.

    4
« Hotel by the beach »

Location-wise this hotel is perfect. With a coffee to go from the lobby you can walk over to two beaches. Right around the corner is a bar frequented by students since from the side rooms you look over the baseball field where the college team prepares for their games :) The rooms are nice and clean and the breakfast is tasty as well. In the afternoon there are cookies and you can get coffee and tea all day long. The only negative part is that they don't rent bikes. This would make me give 5 stars-

Excellent location for the pier, harbour and beachside. Walking distance to State street which is the main drag for food, bars. If the other end of State suggest a taxi/uber at least a couple of miles; we walked back to the hotel. Room was clean, normal issues for hotels with the remote needed squeezed to get it to work properly. More a peeve, but the bathroom extractor fan made a droning sound in the room, so that stayed switched off while sleeping. Breakfast was included in the booking however the breakfast room was tiny and ourselves as most others were moaning about its size. The fan in the

The Beachside Inn was in such a perfect location. Right across from the beach. The staff was friendly. Check in was easy. Night staff was awesome. Harvey the manager was great. He made sure we were happy with our accommodations. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. The pillows were just okay. They had a good breakfast that was included with our stay. There was eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast, yogurt and cereal and more. We will stay again.

« great location, great staff but very overpriced for room and facilities »

my partner and I arrived in santa Barbara on a Saturday evening. we had been on a road trip and arrived tired and this hotel had been recommended to us by family for its location. the family members had stayed 2weeks before hand and had paid around £150 per night. granted it may have been a week day. we were charged £296. okay it was a Saturday, but really????? we had planned an evening out so we stayed. now ive stayed in many best westerns in the usa, the 1 on sunset strip L.A is fantastic and you don't mind paying theses prices for the luxury and comfort and location. but the location of this property is the only thing it has going for the price it charges. the rooms were clean granted, but very basic. the pool area clean but basic. the breakfast was basic and was served in the reception area, which infact was very busy due to local workmen eating. the staff were very friendly, attentive and could not fault check in- check out. I just think that this maybe could change its name from bw to motel 6 or travel lodge, as could the bw in bishop. too many hotels using this bw are making me wary of what you are going to receive room wise for the price. would only recommend this room to friends who knew they are staying mid week, and tell them to check out the prices first.

« Good location, friendly staff »

Pros: 1. Good location. It's right across the street from the harbor and beach. 2. Free breakfast. Nothing fancy but it's one less hassle at 6am. 3. Decent size room if you're traveling with pets. 4. Rain shower. 5. Several covered parking spots. 6. Microwave and mini frig. Cons: 1. No king size bed for pet friendly rooms. 2. Parking is not free. 3. No waffle maker. 4. Lobby isn't open 24hr. It's nice to be able my kid somewhere at 5 am so he doesn't wake up mommy.

    4
    « Near the Water »

Our room was next to the pool. It was small but clean and comfortable. We had trouble with our key and the staff who had to help us several time were very pleasant The breakfast room was small but the food was above average. There was parking in the back which was nice. There was noise during the day but none at night.

    « Perfect location »

We found this Best Western by chance following a long drive from Monterey and were very happy with the standard. A nice pool, easy, free parking onsite, clean room, and a nice breakfast included. The hotel is also right over the road from the beach, and the pier with some nice restaurants is about a 10 minute walk.

    3
    « vacation stay »

Was not made aware of the extent of construction going on or that it was directly under the first assigned room. second room given was nice but we did not have the view that we had initially asked and paid for. Had no water on arrival and was unable to use toilet after a long drive. Location was very good for walking to many attractions. could have been a better experience.

    3
« Overpriced for the room »

The staff was wonderful and the location was amazing. There were great places to walk the dog, even at night. The room was shabby and felt like being in a dungeon of sorts. It was located at the back of the hotel between the pool and the parking lot. I would expect this of a pet designated room which was fine. The problem we had was that they charged $100 more for the Friday and Saturday night included in our 5 day stay.

    « Huge disappointment »

Lack of value for the money we paid!! Having been to Santa Barbara years ago we were really looking forward to our return visit, this experience just showed us how your accomadation affects your holiday mood. It was clean but very tired, there was nothing about the place that would wish you to stay longer, in fact if we had not prepaid we would not have stayed. I did question with reception the huge difference in the cost in booking through an online site and booking with the hotel directly. During our trip we stayed in far better hotels for the dollars we spent here!!!!

    « View of a homeless encampment »

When I booked a pet friendly room I thought I was getting an ocean view and found the price reasonable. When I arrived I was told pet friendly rooms only had park views. We fell asleep with the balcony doors open onto the park. At around 6:30 am there was a lot of noise coming from the park. During the night the park had turned into a homeless encampment and they were now serving breakfast to a long line of the downtrodden. I appreciate the good works of those who were helping the down and out but this is not where I wanted to spend my weekend getaway.

« Great Location, Excellent Staff »

We stopped here in Santa Barbara for the night on our way to Palm Springs. We wanted a place close to the beach. You really can't get any closer than this place. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The employees working there were great. They welcomed us with helpful information, aswell as warm cookies and refreshing cucumber water! We were able to take a leisurely sunset walk down to the pier but ended up eating at a wonderful Italian restaurant just next door to this hotel. You must try the local McConnells ice cream for your end of day treat. Great breakfast. Quickest checkout ever and then onto our final destination. We would definitely stop here again.

    4
    « Friendly Service »

Every single employee we encountered went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. We would love to come back once their renovation is over. Great value and great location. The bedroom was comfortable with a great balcony overlooking the harbor.

« Everything about this hotel is good except the cramped breakfast area »

Excellent location, comfortable room and bed, good service. A pity that they feel the need to charge guests for parking, and the breakfast room is very cramped, otherwise we would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

    « A night with "Dolly" »

My best friend & I were looking for a get away-even though we both live within a 100 miles of Santa Barbara. Dolly Parton appearing at the Santa Barbara Bowl was the perfect excuse. So we decided to make it extra nice and stay at one of our Favorites -Best Western Beachside-reasonable price wise, clean and courteous staff. Dolly's show was ,of course, "the best" and our relaxing stay at Beachside made it all great.

    « Santa Barbara Escape »

    « Comfortable. »

Easy to find, parking for free in hotel carpark. It's obvious that the hotel has been there many many years by the general style and layout. But it's fairly well maintained. We had a room overlooking the Harbour which was nice. It was noisy though - not from the road but you hear every little noise from your neighbours and the plumbing sounds are pretty intrusive all through the night. Comfortable bed and the service and breakfast were good.

    2
« Under Construction unbelieveably noisy »

We were in room 217. Right under our room they started jackhammering or drilling or something at 9:00 am both days we were there. When we got back to our room at 2:00 pm it was still going, there was no airconditioning and the manager was not helpful at all. This is definitely not the best Best Western we have been in either. It was overpriced to begin with because they are on the beach and the room wasn't overly clean either. The only good thing is that we were able to walk down to the pier or take the shuttle downtown.

    4
« Great Location, Wonderful Staff, Good Value »

Santa Barbara is relatively expensive, but the Best Western offered great value in close to an ideal location. The staff was very welcoming and friendly and the room felt spacious and had a comfortable bed and great air conditioning. We stayed 4 nights and were able to walk virtally everywhere. It was a great place for a needed vacation.

    « Disapointed »

I normally love best westerns. This place was a little over priced anyway but the AC for the facility was down and had been for a while. It was 98 degrees out side and 90 in our room. We were miserable. They did give us $60 off on our room but we didn't sleep anyway. The staff was very nice but make sure their AC is working before you book

    « A real gem »

This hotel is being nicely renovated. The standard of the room décor and facilities are great. Very stylish, lovely crisp white bed linen, super showers room. Refurb is currently underway but we were not disturbed by any dust or noise. The workmen are courteous and the staff here are very welcoming and helpful. Lovely pool, although we didn't really get time to use it and it does seem to be in shade for most part of the day. Good location, close to end of the beach with a flat walk towards the pier and tourist info. Nice breakfast. Nominal fee for on site parking. Would stay here again with out hesitation.

    « Highway 1 Heaven »

Travelling from San Francisco to Santa Monica this was an overnight and we were not disappointed. The Beachside hotel was in an excellent location and as suggested in the name it is exactly that beachside !! Quiet, comfortable, clean and perfect location for travelling Highway 1.

    3
« Good location but out dated. »

Good location across from the beach but found this hotel out dated. Room was very spacious but in need of a paint job. Lobby where breakfast is served is small but food was good. Felt price was a little high for the condition of this Best Western but I guess you pay for the location.

    3
    « Poor room temperature »

You could not control the air conditioning. You could only set it at one temperature, not hot / cold. The thermostat only went down to 70 and the ac did not work very well. If the outside temperature was below 70, the room still did not cool off. There was no circulation even with the windows open. At night, the room was hot and stuffy and made for three miserable nights of sleeping. I would not stay here again.

    5
« Lovely views of the sea and palm trees from our balcony »

This is a great hotel, very centrally located to the beach and a short walk to the town. The hotel was undergoing some refurbishment however this didn't impact our stay. The pool was clean and provided free towels. The room had a fridge and a balcony which offered views of the beach. The beach is lovely and the children were able to hire paddle boards for a couple of hours which they enjoyed. There is a complimentary hot breakfast and pastries which was great although limited seating availability but nevertheless still great.

    « Labor Day Weekend »

We stayed on Fri and Sunday for Labor Day weekend. Everything seemed to be updated/remodeled. The rooms were clean and so were the hotel grounds. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgable. My husband and I would stay here again.

« Perfect location for us and great value for money. »

A tad noisy due to renovations and the lift was out of order, but perfect for somewhere to put your head down for the night. What a beautiful town, the food at Toma just down the street is the best I have experienced in California in the last 10 days of travel

    « A fine hotel! »

Excellent location on beach with friendly and professional staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with whisper quiet AC and a novel compartmentalised bathroom set up that works well. The inclusive breakfasts were amongst the best. Not the cheapest, but a good compromise between price and quality. Really enjoyed our four nights in this well-run hotel.

    « Waterfront Sweet Spot »

Nice location in Santa Barbara where one can stroll the boulevard along the waterfront. Plenty of parking, nice reception, good continental breakfast in the lobby, great little courtyard pool and clean, well-appointed rooms. The room was small, but cozy and comfortable and we particularly enjoyed the balcony and the fresh air coming in. We didn't have a waterfront view since we were traveling with our pet and the pet-friendly rooms are located on the side of the building overlooking the park across the street. But it was a nice view and we had a comfortable stay.

    4
    « Love Santa Barbara »

Conveniently located hotel, can't ask for more with a view of the ocean. Everything was within walking distance and I loved all that I got to see! i do plan on returning back with my husband. I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

    4
    « It's all about the staff »

Sytlalli (apolgies if mis-spelt) burned our eyeballs with a 1000watt smile upon arrival. Then she kidnapped one of our daughters under the pretence of showing her the room. Our daughters still site her as their favourite part of a 3 week road trip. She is wasted at this well-located hotel.

    4
« Modern room for a quick stopover »

The room was a little small, but it had been recently been modernised and was very clean. The only downside of the room was the unpleasant smell coming from the drains in the bathroom. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel was in a good position for exploring Santa Barbara. Breakfast was a little chaotic as the space is quite small, however the food was good, plentiful and there was a very good range of breakfast foods available.

    4
« Great Location Overlooking the Harbor »

This is a solid choice and consistent with Best Western standards. It's not upscale, but it's clean and comfortable. We elected to pay a bit more for a room on the second floor with a harbor view and balcony - very nice. Lots of dining and activity options within walking distance. You're likely to pay over $300/night for this kind of arrangement, but for our enjoyable weekend getaway, it was acceptable. A hot breakfast was included.

    3
« Overpriced, questionable attitude to the environment »

We stayed here for two nights en route to San Francisco. Considering the very high prices, the hotel appears fairly shabby in terms of paintwork. The room was OK but unspectacular, with the exception of the very comfortable bed. However, in the light of California's severe drought, it was irritating that, although a sign specifically advised guests to leave towels hanging on the rail if they didn't want them changed (which we duly did as we didn't), when we returned to the room we found a complete set of new towels and toiletries, although the others had hardly been touched. This was very poor and disappointing. The breakfast was poor quality, made even less appealing by the shockingly wasteful use of paper plates and bowls and plastic cutlery. Saving on staff costs is apparently more important than the environment. Large chains like these would do well to change some of their more destructive policies. The staff members were friendly and courteous.

« Great location in fun Santa Barbara »

Stayed one night (wish we could have stayed longer!). Great location, just a few steps from West Beach. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast. Only thing we did not like was the price; we booked short notice during the Spanish Days festival....

    « Weekend Getaway »

Booked at the Best Western Beachside for a overnight getaway for some wine and golf over the last weekend. Found the hotel on the site as a place with easy beach access and in the price we were looking for. I was a perfect spot for us as it was close to the Funk Zone and beach and had a great view of the harbor and the pier. Room was clean and there was a nice breakfast available before we headed to I the links. Nothing fancy, but the area has plenty to offer and this was a great spot to relax after a day in Santa Barbara

    « GREAT HOTEL »

« Perfect location for a mellow beach vacation »

When you're at a gorgeous seaside town as Santa Barbara, hoping to enjoy the beach and water sports, you don't want to commute in and out of the boulevard strip. You want to wake up, smell the surf and walk out onto the beach whenever you like. This hotel offers just that. Great ocean facing rooms, good parking, everything you need within walking distance. It costs a few dollars extra, but for the real Californian beach experience, a location like this one is indispensable. It is well kept, clean and the staff is nice.

« Nice resort near the beach »

We had a harbor view room on the 2nd fl. We just stayed at BW in San Simeon so this was a bit less in comfort, amenities, and overall quality. We don't like the quality of food at free breakfast hotels but BW-SB was better than Choice Hotels where we are Diamond Members.

« Excellent location and very nice helpful staff »

Excellent location. Paid $270 for a 1 bed, on the 3rd floor. No balcony. A wet room, no bath. Good hairdryer and makeup remover wipes in room. Very good breakfast, comfy clean bed and the staff were very nice and helpful. Downside was the lift was out of order (which we were told when booking), Feathered bird's outside the bedroom was so noisey, kept us awake most of the night (not hotel fault i will say) And the carpet was wet and there was a floor fan drying it out.

    « Can't beat the location »

This Best Western is right across the marina and about half a mile walk to the pier. On the Saturday that we were here, there were many vendors along the grassy part near the beach selling artwork, jewelry, furniture, hats and all sorts of knick knacks. There were ample parking for $3 at this facility. The rooms were clean and freshly painted. The bed was comfortable and the pillows perfect; not too soft and not too firm. The bathroom had nice rain shower and a hand held component to make it earlier to get rinsed off. The air conditioner worked well. Even though the room was a little small. It was fine. The breakfast offering was just ok. No waffles but they did have English muffins.

« Broken Elevator and a screw in my tire. »

Paid full price for an elevator that was working. Upon checking out, I found out there was a screw in my tire that I had to get plugged. There was construction equipment extremely close to my car. There was no compensation off the room rate because of the inconvenience of a working elevator. We were put on the 3rd floor of the hotel.

    « All Around Award »

This hotel gets just about everything right. It is priced for the location, which is fantastic for the beaches and for State Street commercial access. So, I can't complain about it being a bit steep. The pool is nice and heated very comfortably. Our room on the 3rd floor had fantastic light, and it was spacious. Beds and pillows were comfortable, and the tv and Internet were good. Shower was excellent- over 6'3" high and great pressure. Everything was clean and nothing seemed dated or dank. Room was quiet all night, and the hotel was totally full. Service staff was EXCELLENT. Christian and Armand were examples of what service is all about. Even the overnight gentleman was very kind and responsive about my pre-dawn coffee request. Breakfast was good- not the best hot/cold due to a little lack of variety, but the eggs and potatoes were nicely done. Coffee was very good, too. Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that the elevator was out of service and there was no discount for 3rd floor, though we were offered help with our bags. We'll stay here again for sure if I can swing the price.

    4
    « Nice place »

Very nice place to stay, right on the beach and also with a pool; super quiet and with some ocean view rooms. The staff is super friendly and at the reception there are always cookies, berry water and other treats for guests. Breakfast is served in the same room and many are the options. Not a luxurious place but perfect to stay with family. Close to State Street, the main street, and to the pier.

    2
    « Not So Nice »

My wife and I booked a room with an ocean view to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. The room was nice, but for $547 for two nights, I was disappointed that the elevator was broken (we were on the third floor) and that the pool was closed for construction. Posting signs saying "sorry for the inconvenience" doesn't make up for the disappointment. Aside from the room, the walkways, stairwells and halls seemed a little dilapidated. Wish we had booked a nicer place for less money.

Clean ,Tidy. Helpful staff. Great location. Value for money. Nice pool area. Closed at our visit due to building work. Hotel let us have a late checkout in order to watch the football. Would fully recommend this hotel in Santa Barbara . Nice breakfast included in the price. Choice of cooked breakfast or different fruits.

Santa Barbara ain't cheap! I looked for a place to stay that was somewhat reasonable as we were staying for 3 days as my daughter checked out UCSB. This was a very acceptable hotel within walking distance of the pier. Parking is ample and the room was nice. It is across the street from a park that is home to a large number of homeless people. We woke on Mother's Day to religious singing and a group serving breakfast to a long line of homeless people. It didn't bother us but I think it's notable in a review. That being said I would stay here again.

    « Great! »

This is a modest, comfortable, clean hotel with helpful, cheerful staff. The room was really nice, the free breakfast options were fresh and healthy, and the location is fantastic - this hotel is within walking distance of the entire harbor and many fun, good restaurants.

Dated, tired Motel. Broken Elevators, pool closed on my stay, no mention of this when booking. Very nice staff, trying hard with a property badly in need of renovation. No room service. Stayed one night, will likely look elsewhere next time in Santa Barbara

« The Best Best Western Hotel I have stayed so far. »

Best Western Beachside Inn is a very decent hotel with great service and fairly well maintained amenities. It is in walking distances to Santa Barbara Pier, the Harbor as well as State St. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel and took advantage of its location. The morning walks to the harbor with ocean breeze and the afternoon stroll on State street and the pier were memorable. The harbor view room we stayed was on second floor facing the harbor. There were barely any street noises at night because of the balcony door had minimized the noises. The room was very clean and well presented at first sight. Most of what you need for your stay is there in the room including extra blankets and pillows. Free continental breakfast and free wifi are provided. Loved the heated pool, which the hours are from 9 am to 9 pm. Although the hotel was still undergoing construction, it is in the final stage where noises are not as bothersome. We appreciated their accommodation of late check out when we requested it. Overall, you can't go wrong with this hotel. Last thing to mention, there is a $3 parking fee they charge per day.

« A run down, overpriced, well located motel w/a pool »

It is what it is. Pros: Located a short walk from the beach, Pier and the State Street. Has a small heated pool. Pretty decent breakfast when compared to the typical motel "continental" breakfast. Cons: Overpriced Run Down Elevator didnt work Construction going on all day (this was June 2016) Note: the place is in need of some serious upgrades, so the construction could go on for a while longer. Conclusion: If you can find a better deal a few blocks away, take it.

    « One Night Stand »

We only stayed for one night. The staff was nice during check in and in the morning during breakfast. The rooms are big and we had a balcony facing the ocean (marina). You can walk everywhere. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Had issues with the tv, but someone came right up and fixed it for us. We would definitely stay here again.

    « Lovely Hotel »

Rooms nice, very clean. Lovely bathrooms. Tea & Coffee making facilities, fridge & microwave. Staff lovely, breakfast really nice & good choices but a bit cramped as in reception area. Owner/manager really seemed to care that we had a good time. Fruit water lovely. Fantastic location near beach.

Other than the pool is out ofservice during the day, the elevator doesn't work, the room service staff is horrible and the rooms are out dated, this place is ok. The staff is friendly and trying to be helpful but this place just isn't functioning well at this time.

« Great Location and friendly staff »

We walked to this motel from the train station. The area reminded me of Miami Beach 20 years ago. This is a nice, clean motel. We were upgraded to a large room with an ocean view. Ibises and other seabirds in the trees across the street were chirping loudly and beautifully (no problem sleeping at night, however). The marina is just across the way and the pier is just down the street. We ate late and walked to a Mexican restaurant, and the area seemed to get ever seedier the later it got. But overall this was a good choice for a restful night in the heart of the Santa Barbara waterfront.

    « A Gem in Santa Barbara »

This hotel exceeded our expectations. We usually think of Best Western as a basic, clean, dependable hotel. But this one had an exceptional: location, upgraded breakfast, cheerful, and helpful staff !!

    « Great location - construction noise »

Best Western Santa Barbara - Wonderful people work at this hotel - the breakfast is average - as soon as construction is complete (very noisy during the week) it will be a great place until then ?? Beach location is awesome

This hotel is across the street from the harbor and walking to the pier is great. You can catch the shuttle easily and tour State Street. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the bathrooms were a bit awkward.

All staff and rooms excellent, breakfast tops! Located at the beach and across from the Marina and a walk to main State Street and the famous Stern pier! Restaurants close, great for walks and bike ride and a short walk to the train station!

When anywhere near Santa Barbara, the Beachside Inn comes into our minds. We were at the Harris Ranch heading home and cut across to the beach to stay at the Beachside Inn. Definitely a delightful experience.

    « Hurting the Brand »

Staff and the free parking are good. except for the cleanliness of the room and the comfortable bed, the hotel needs serious overhaul. The carpets are worn and torn out. The toilet is an extremely small cubicle; a medium size person can hardly turn around. The location is a walking distance to the wharf but not "a few minutes'walk" to the State str." Breakfast ends at 10:00, which is fine, but no more scrambled eggs when we asked at 09:35. Definitely not worth the money

  • 2
    « Not much choice »

If you need to stay close to the harbor, there's not a lot of quality selection. Might try a neighboring hotel, but doubt they are much better. If you can handle lumpy beds, changing water temps, finicky TV remotes, and loud people yelling down the hall, then by all means stay here.

    4
    « Great place! »

Don't let the 2-star rating fool you. Yes, the grounds aren't as lovely as the 3-star Best Western properties in town but Beachside wins for location, location, location! On the corner of Cabrillo and Castillo (I think it was, it's a freeway exit and straight shot to Cabrillo). Right across from a lovely park on one side and across the street from the marina across Cabrillo. So, walking distance to several marina restaurants. Easy walk to the beach and the pier. The downtown shuttle stops right across the street. It goes straight to the pier if you don't want to walk, and with a transfer takes you downtown the main shopping/eating street. 50 cents a ride. The rooms are clean and come with an undercounter refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Who needs more? Beachside provides a full hot and cold breakfast that changed a bit each day and accommodated all of us with our different diets and tastes. The staff is wonderful - friendly and helpful. A small outdoor pool in the interior courtyard, so protected from breezes. The bathroom is a little small for my taste. I usually only book 3 and 4 star hotels, but all 4 of us in two rooms were very pleased with Beachside Inn.

    3
« Ok but not Great »

We arrived early evening and the front desk person was more than pleasant. The hotel itself is older and the pictures online don't represent what the hotel currently looks like. It's most worm down looking. There was also emergency construction happening which limited the use of the pool to evenings. Overall I'm not sure we would stay here again but the bed was comfortable and we were had a good night's sleep. It just wasn't what we anticipated.

    3
« Good service, but thin walls »

College visit with daughter.. enjoyed our 3 nt stay here because the location was really nice. The front desk was very helpful and kind. Breakfast was light but sufficient, and coffee good. Sadly the last 2 days they ran out of sugar & didn't replace it but probably best not to be using that stuff any way. The beds were comfortable, tea/coffee in room plentiful, but we overlooked the pool so sadly a light outside kept the room from ever really getting dark at night, but by 3rd nt I got used to it. During our stay there was a young family on one side and an infant on the other so during the night it wasn't quiet (infant cried all night). However, once they left, the last night we slept much better. It was unusually warm for April so room was stuffy, the air conditioner won't go under 70 degrees. It was nice with windows open and breeze but of course that made the infant cries louder. We never complained because really nothing could be done about the noise, just an older (well kept) hotel with thin walls. So for sound sleepers, and/or with quiet neighbors, you will totally enjoy your stay. Perhaps pick a room not around the pool.

    « Coastal charm »

From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a smile. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and spacious. The breakfast in the morning was a great way to get the day started. It is about a ten minute walk to Stern's Wharf, but I will take quiet over the hustle and bustle of downtown. What a pleasant stay!

« I love the Best Western Beachside »

We have stayed multiple times at this hotel since my son attended SBCC the past 2 years. it was always a reasonable rate and decent quality. This time, the rate was very high, $750 for 2 nights, 2 adults because it was SBCC's graduation. The TV didn't work, the sheets were very rough like they were washed with towels. there was a lot of noise from a railing being replaced but NO OFFER of a discounted rate. Disappointing this time.

    5
    « Great Location »

The hotel is old but is very well taken care of. The location is fantastic walking distance to many restaurants and activities. We really enjoyed the pool. Across from a park plus walking paths along the ocean. Pet friendly and a good price for a Santa Barbara hotel with this kind of location.

    « Highly Recommend »

We had an excellent experience here. We've stayed at many Best Westerns over the years. This one was one of the best we've stayed at. Located just steps from the pier and ocean. Within walking distance to town, although there is a shuttle service available.

We loved this hotel the location was perfect, the rooms were spacious and clean and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The only downside was that we only stayed one night !!! Santa Barbara is a wonderful vibrant place, we are currently on a California road trip and this so far was one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you ??????

« Nice stay, great location »

Hotel was pretty nice. The rooms were newer, bathrooms could have used some cosmetic work but they were perfectly fine to use. If you get a harbor view room the balconies look right at the water with a few trees in the way, very nice for the price. Location was perfect for walking around the harbor and wharf. If you want downtown you'll have a long walk or need to drive or bike. Breakfast was great for a free breakfast, hot eggs, sausage, bacon and potatoes plus fresh fruit! Would go back.

    3
« Good Place, very friendly staff »

The location is convenient, a few blocks away from state st. and the pier. The room was nice and clean and it does include continental breakfast at the lobby which was ok. The staff are really nice people and they can help you with maps and info about the city.

    4
« Great location for the price »

The place is clean and good value for money. We generally chose not to stay at Best Western hotels during our trip due to their bad reviews however this one got good reviews and rightly so. A great location at a decent price. Good service and satisfactory breakfast. I would recommend this to travellers on a budget.

The Best Western Plus is THE best buy in California. We stayed at two of them as we traveled up and down the coast and they were fantastic. The price was great (I'm a Weston hotel fan), it was super clean and the food was good and people friendly. Can't ask for much more for less then $150.00 in California. 'nuff said. :)

This hotel is one of the best in Santa Barbara. I have been using this site for years with regard to our Model United Nations Conference which is hosted at Santa Barbara City College...Also a lovely venue for an educational conference. The hotel is right alongside the beach and there are several restaurants on the wharf and shoreline for convenience. The breakfast served was wonderful and everyone was very cheerful who helped with

Fantastic! I expected much less for the price. Everything was great. Clean, spacious, comfortable room with nice park view. Love the mountain view out the front door also. Breakfast was superb. Even really good, strong coffee and scrambled eggs that were hot. Location perfect. Across the street to beach. Parking safe and easy. Friendly staff. I will stay here again when in SB. Santa Barbara is a wonderful place to visit. So beautiful and easy to get around.

Staff were friendly, but the hotel wasn't equipped with basics like a kettle. The bed had a hair in and shower head doesn't move so you have to always wash your hair. The hand basin is also outside the shower which is convenient. Room also smelt like bleach.

    « Very impressed »

We stayed in this hotel for a night during our stay in Santa Barbara. The hotel was very nice for its class and price. The rooms were large and modern. The hotel was very central and within easy walking distance of the wharf and old town. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

    « Amazing and Wonderful »

This hotel was amazing, wonderful, awesome. It had a pool and the rooms have a balcony. There is also a patio and free breakfast. There are cookies from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. That is 4 hours that you can get cookies. Sometimes they are left out for more than 4 hours. This is an amazing hotel that O would recommend. I loved my stay and it was worth all the money we spent.

Very helpful, friendly staff, offer good cookies thru most of day; had a comfortable room on first floor that we had requested. « Stolen Item »

At the beginning when we checked in the lady at the front desk mentioned that there was a $3 charge everyday for parking. Which is fine, but there was never any notice about that charge and when my husband mentioned that to her she simply stated "Well, that's a lot cheaper than next door, they charge $20 a day." Its not the amount that bothered him, it's the fact that we weren't told about this when we reserved our hotel. We asked for our shower to be fixed 3 different times. It never got done. Each time we talked to someone different. Then on the last day my emerald and diamond necklace went missing. When I told the front desk person "Jenn" she said that she would have a manager call me to discuss the situation. An hour later I received an email that stated I was credited $100 for the shower. I will be completing a police report about my necklace because it was very expensive and because your staff has shown me that don't care to talk to me about it. We also have pictures of all the issues with the shower that I feel people should know about before booking at your hotel. All of this would have never been brought up if the manager just called me and showed a little consideration towards me and my situation. Its apparent that your company only cares about money. We were really looking forward to coming to Santa Barbara for my birthday and my friends wedding. It's sad that we struggled to take a basic shower and my necklace is still missing.

    « Would come back »

Staff was very accommodating. They gave me an early check in and was very pleasant upon checkin. I was given a room with a balcony and view of the pier so it was a very nice. Continental breakfast had a nice variety as well. I enjoyed my stay. Walking distance to the pier and several great restaurants and shopping. Just a few miles from the popular state street.

    « Worth Every Penny »

We spent two nights here last week (T&W) and had a wonderful stay from the moment we arrived until we left. After reading the reviews I felt I knew what to expect having stayed in older Best Western's in the past. This blew the others away. Upon checking in the super nice rep Angie told us "You're getting our best room, 322." I instantly knew she was telling the truth from other reviews. The Good: The room was very clean, spacious, and the best view at the hotel. Room had a king bed, table with 2 chairs, a chair & ottoman, dresser, HDTV, and a large closet. Decorated nice too. Several luggage carts were available outside of the office to make taking our stuff to the room easy. The Average: The breakfast area is small and was totally full at 7:20am both mornings. They offered the usual toast, muffins, cereal, juice, coffee along with scrambled eggs, country potatoes, and bacon. These last three items would be a nice upgrade if they were cooked properly. It just fell a tad short. The Bad: The bathroom was very small and had a weird layout with the toilet behind one door and the tub/shower behind the other. Being 6'-2" tall and 260# I had to literally stand to the side of the bowl to close the door, which almost touches the fixture. That was the only way I could close the door to use the throne. Other: Only one Handicapped parking space near the elevator. Three "Registration" spaces that I never saw being used. Seems like another handicapped stall should be added. It was well worth the $170+taxes we paid. I heard from another guest it doubled the next week due to Spring Break before Easter.

    « Great Location »

The Best Western Beachside Inn is the best hotel in the area for the price and the amenities. It is walking distance from the beach and the park. The area seem to be very safe. We didn't spend much time in the room because TV Remote did not work and the room was very small and dark.

    5
« Excellent location and great amenities »

The best thing about this hotel is it's great location- right across the street from the harbor and just a short walk to State Street shopping/restaurants and to the Wharf. The second best thing is their staff, all friendly and helpful at check-in, at breakfast, and very welcoming every time they would see us. We opted for a poolside room so we had no view but we had no street noise either and we preferred the quiet room over a view. The room was small but well-appointed with a small table and chairs and a comfortable bed. Amenities included a small refrigerator, coffee maker and even a little microwave. The bathroom was small but with a smart design, and closet space was quite large. Breakfast was included and very good. They had fresh fruit, cereals, a variety of pre-cooked eggs, potatoes, meat and a nice selection of breads and muffins along with juice and coffee. When the fruit bowl got low I heard someone from the staff mention it, and immediately a server brought more fresh fruit from the kitchen. The staff at breakfast seemed to really care that they kept guests happy and some also chatted with guests, making it feel like a very friendly place. Another nice feature of this hotel especially given the location, is the reasonably-priced covered parking lot right at the hotel. With everything in walking distance we didn't drive our car at all. And if you don't want to walk all the way up State Street, there is a trolley that starts at the foot of the wharf and takes you up State Street for a very nominal fee. Across the street from the hotel, turn right at the harbor for very scenic view of the marina, and a number of restaurants very close to the hotel. Due to the location of the beach though, you won't see a sunset over the ocean. It is still a lovely evening stroll along the marina. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit.

    5
« Great hotel for price! »

We stayed here for 5 nights. It's within walking distance of State Street, right next to West Beach and the volleyball nets. The hotel is kinda old but so are a lot of other hotels in the area. The room was clean, and well kept. Breakfast was OK, the earlier the better so it's fresh. Eggs, bacon or sausage, cubed potatoes, assorted breads, cold cereals, juices... Staff was very friendly. If your looking for a practical hotel at a great location, I think you'll like it.

    « Warm and friendly »

Stopped in Santa Barbara and found this hotel when looking to somewhere to stay for the night. Good, clean family room that was spacious and with good sized beds. We were on the second floor overlooking the harbour so had good views but it was a little noisy with the room above returning home at 02.00! Breakfast was great - good sausages and scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and toast/bagels. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, giving us good recommendations for dinner and places to visit on our trip North.

    « Just OK »

If you are looking for the very basic and minimum then this is the hotel for you. If you are looking for something moderate or better, then do not stay here. This is basic at best. The hotel needs a HUGE update and upgrade.

This place is awesome!! Jasmine at the front counter is great. Upgrades me to the suite every time. The property is clean and rooms are spotless. Some of the best sleep i get on the road is at this place. Right across from the marina and streets are lined with restaurants and shops. Check out the shops and restaurants on the marina. If you get a chance stay in the suite they have on the property its like an apartment!!

Had several refreshing swims in the heated pool--nice and warm, perfect for relaxing. The staff were so friendly! Offered several helpful suggestions based on my interest in seeing gardens. Me and my husband stayed at this Best Western recently and we really enjoyed our time. The staff was very pleasant, the check in was easy. « Well Managed Budget Hotel »

Good location close to downtown and across the street from the marina. Although this is an older property with a funky layout, small rooms, and exterior walkways, the room was nicely renovated and generally clean. The property was very well maintained by an extensive and polite staff. Breakfast was better than expected. Lots of reasonably priced parking. Overall, I thought this was an excellent value for Santa Barbara and appreciate that an effort was made to under-promise and over-deliver.

    « Better than expected »

This is an older hotel than has been remodeled, and the staff takes excellent care of the facilities and the guests. We selected this hotel because it is pet friendly, we were pleasantly surprised with the great location right across the street from the waterfront park beach and all the harbor attractions. This is also close to downtown and has easy access to the freeway. We stayed a week and will return. A good value for the cost. The only slight problem was the Internet speed was fine for email but slow for streaming video content. Friendly helpful staff, clean rooms.

I was very pleased with my stay at the Best Western Beachside Inn. The staff was very friendly and respectful. The room was clean and updated. The pool was heated and very clean. Best of all, there is an all you can eat hot breakfast served in the lobby from 7:00-10:00 in the morning. Not just donuts and coffee. There was bacon and eggs, potatoes, fruit, cereal... basically everything that you can think of, and it is all free! The location is also excellent: Right across from the harbor and walking distance from the pier. Lots of restaurants and shops around, as well as a nice park right across the street. I would definitely stay here again!

    « Quite alright »

Very well located, clean and friendly staff. The only thing I didn't like that it was a bit too noisy from the street and on the other side of the door, as you could hear everyone pass by. It was the tiniest lobby/breakfast area I've been to, however choice of food was decent enough and although not everything was tasty, but waffles they had were brilliant!

« FABULOUS BEACHFRONT SPOT TO STAY IN SB! »

Arriving late into SB we were happy to be able to get a room at this hotel and how lucky were we!!! Our room was extremely clean and spacious and the decor really gave it a beachy and seaside feel! It's convenient location to State Street, the Pier, and the Marina was a plus for us since we wanted to get out on our jet ski the next day as well as wander around. And best of all it's a quick walk to my favorite Brophy Bros restaurant! Not to mention walkable to a multitude of other great restaurants. The bed was comfortable and we had a great night of sleep! The room had lots of windows so we enjoyed the morning sunshine streaming in. The bathroom was large as well and amply stocked with toiletries and everything that we needed. The wifi was quick which is always important to us. Parking was easy and they accommodated our Jeep & 20 ft trailer (thank you very much!) Although we did not use the pool it was sparking and clean with a ton of lounge chairs to relax. The breakfast buffet the next morning was impressive- we were on a 4 month road trip so we had sure seen our share of breakfast buffets at the many places we have stayed! I especially enjoyed the tropical juices. We also had the opportunity to meet the manager of the hotel, Harvey, who could not have been nicer or more helpful to our questions and needs. Not to mention the service by everyone was top notch- the front desk staff and the breakfast staff and everyone else I encountered while we were there. Unfortunately our schedule only allowed us to stay one night but we will DEFINITELY be back and soon I hope! Thank you for an amazing stay Harvey and staff! Zoe & Michael

« Great Place, Friendly Staff »

We thought we would pop over to Santa Barbara for some wine tasting. The rain was pouring down when we arrived on a Monday. The staff was cheery and the front desk clerk gave us a room with an ocean view. The continental breakfast was quite filling and a staff member noticed I was taking breakfast to the room and kindly loaned me a tray. During the monsoon morning, I came down to take some photographs and had congenial conversations with the staff. As it is walking distance to the Funk Zone, we shall return!

    « A Great Family Getaway Location »

The BW Beachside starts with one of the best locations in Santa Barbara. A short walk from the wharf one direction and the marina the other. The staff is so very friendly and helpful. Also, this is a hotel that acts like a boutique, hot cookies in the lobby every afternoon. Fruit infused water all day, and a HOT breakfast included with the stay. There is also a nice, heated pool. The room is a typical chain hotel room, but nice and clean.

    « Good Deal »

This hotel is priced right, but you get no luxury accommodations. The staff is efficient and helpful--the staff top notch. The actual rooms are VERY small and the decor is clean, but very old. The seams of the couch in our room were coming apart. The bathroom was clean but super small. There wasn't a counter in the bathroom, just a free standing sink. The hotel definitely has a motel feel--it's functional and that's about it. The breakfast was ok. Nothing was gross, but nothing was especially delicious. The staff preparing the breakfast was very nice. Don't stay at this hotel is you are planning on actually relaxing and hanging out in the hotel--you'll be disappointed. We brought our kids and hung out in Santa Barbara all day and used the hotel to sleep and eat breakfast.

« Good value for the price »

Good place to travel and stay. Comfortable, clean and very friendly staff. Breakfast was actually eggs and toast etc. We have stayed in many places in Santa Barbara but we wanted to be close to the beachside.

« Great location and pleasant rooms. Wish we stayed longer! »

Close to the beachside path for walking. Our kids rode their new "hoverboards" and we walked the dogs. The beach, pier and restaurants are all close. Also, the big park just across the street is pretty view from hotel room and nice place to spend time. We would have taken the nearby trolley, but pets were not allowed. We definitely recommend this hotel for families and others.

« excellent value for beach front property »

A basic, safe, clean hotel with friendly staff in amazing location. fantastic value. Traveled with a young child and puppy. Staff made it easy and very accommodating. Best part is you walk out the lobby door and you are looking at the beach

« Our favorite Hotel in Santa Barbara »

We always stay at this hotel because you cannot beat the great location which is right on the beach across from the Harbor, the beautiful views of the ocean and mountains and the incredible service. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the manager Harvey makes you feel like family. Their ADA room is one the best I've ever stayed in. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

« Great service, perfect location »

Staff was friendly, helpful and the hotel was across the street from the beach. Good breakfast, comfortable room, free wifi= well done! Perfect experience for the price. I'll be back next time I travel to Santa Barbara.

    « Terrible experience »

The walls are so thin that I could hear people talking in the room next door, when I finally got to sleep the room's alarm clock went off at 6:30am for no reason, none of us had set it up!! Also, impossible to call the front desk- there's no explanation on how to call them. When I inquired them about this they were unapologetic and rude. The tv's remote control doesn't work from the bed - you have to literally stand up in front of the tv for it to work. Wifi didn't work properly and hair dryer was broken. The only good aspect is the location.

    « Terrible experience »

Initial reaction was not a good one, and nothing got better. Their double queen room with a "harbor view" was not the case. Any possible view was blocked by large trees. The clerk even admitted that the king rooms had a better view, but still only a partial view. I asked that my complaints be reported to management and never heard a word. The following morning, I called the desk and requested housekeeping NOT clean our room as we would be in and out all day. I was blown off and just told to use the do not disturb card. My son caught housekeeping outside, reinforced our wishes to them and also left the card on the door. They STILL came in our room, which is trespassing as far as I'm concerned and complete disregard for our wishes. They changed the towels and sheets, even though we left the towels on the rack in deference to California's severe drought. They also THREW OUT the shampoo, conditioner, and soap after only ONE NIGHT - so wastefull, as well as costly if they do this with every guest. I would never stay here again. I am not one to complain, and I'd rather see the good in a situation, but this was a terrible experience. I've sent an email to management........no response.

« Too expensive for a crappy place »

They charge you $3 for parking, given the price is already very high. Extremely thin walls, you can hear everything from all sides. Feels like a cheap place- looks cheap, feels cheap but high prices....

« Not what we expected »

Booked through priceline bidding on a value $193 room at 60% off. We thought that we would get an ocean view room. This was our anniversary. My husband had just had a brain tumor removed in , I was making all of the arrangements. The hotel put us in the pool side room since we had a discounted room rate. The room was back by the noisey laundry. I asked to be moved, which they did, 2 doors away. I ended up crying that night instead of celebrating. The hotel did not understand the priceline arrangements. I called priceline and they said the hotel has the option of the rooms. What is the reason for bidding on higher priced rooms when you are given the lowest priced room on arrival? Big disappointment.

« Needs updating, repair, thin walls »

Staff is courteous, breakfast good. Building is in need up updating and repairs(Sliding doors on closets would not slide), mold in the bathroom, access to upstairs limited to one small elevator not accessable from the parking lot, clorene smell in room. Thin walls-noisy neighbors and TV sounds come right through, kept awake. Charging for parking is a rip off. NOT a good place to vacation.

Right across the street from the Harbor and walking distance to Stern's Wharf. One of the better rated restaurants (Toma) right next door. Super location and a nice layout. Big rooms and some are suites. Cheap parking.

« This place does it right! »

Facility is very clean and well maintained but what separates this location for the rest is the staff! Staff is AMAZING and FRIENDLY! We felt like we were visitors in their home. They enjoy their jobs and it SHOWS. This is a rare find in this price range! Thanks for taking such excellent care of us! From, Your favorite Girls Volleyball team

    « Nice place/Location »

Great location across from the street from the harbor and a park. It is also close to downtown, with many shops and restaurants. They also have a good selection for the breakfast. I will stay here again..

« Older hotel but great location »

This is an older hotel located right across from the marina. The location is great but it means it can be a bit loud. The room was comfortable but not too soundproof. The bathroom was clean and had a nice shower. There also is a free breakfast in the lobby but not much seating so we took our food back to the room.

    « Great Value! »

We started here on a recent trip up PCH. The location is just about perfect, since you can walk out the door to the beach and yacht club. There is also a park next door, so road traffic noise is not a problem. This place had one of the best continental breakfasts ever. Not sure if it was unique to this location, or all best westerns, but far better than anything at a Hampton Inn or budget Hilton property. Recommend for a cheap stopover in Santa Barbara.

« Big Family Group- Multiple Rooms »

My family and I stayed at the Best Western Beachside Inn in Santa Barbara for my brother's wedding. It was a wonderful time and stay! The hotel's location was perfect for us- right across the street from the harbor/ beach (my brother got married on a catamaran out in the harbor), park and playground across the street for the little ones. The hotel has a continental breakfast (includes hot items). Parking is only $3 per day per vehicle- really reasonable! This hotel has a pool, which was great for our family group as well! Their lobby is a bit on the small side, but worked perfectly for us to gather and play cards in the evenings. Most of all, I appreciated the hotel staff and their service. We were a large family group (of about 20) and loud (at times, during the day). The Best Western Beachside Inn was a great "home away from home" for us. Thank you! P.S. I'm a Travel Agent and will recommend this property to my clients in the future.

    « Stole My Belongings »

The staff "could not find" my clarisonic and beach towel. The breakfast was decent. The cleanliness can be highly improved. The cleaning staff is extremely disrespectful and rude. I would never stay at this hotel ever again. My mistake.

    « 8:20 am »

This room is over valued. Nice view and location, but not worth the cost. The bathroom is so small it is difficult to use the facilities. Breakfast was quite bad, unfortunately...I ended up going out after the first day.

« Basic but does what it says on the tin »

This hotel is very basic but clean and tidy. We were looking for a place to stay for one night during our drive down the Pacific Coast. We had a room over looking the beach on the 3rd floor and the view was brilliant. There is an outdoor pool which looked nice but it was closed during our stay. The Wi-Fi was not very reliable. It is very close to the pier and has a great restaurant next door. We would stay he again if we were passing through.

I am a Regional Operations Manager so I am on the road at least 4 days a week and try to stay at BW'S as often as possible. This was by far and away the best one I have ever stayed at. I was upgraded to the suite automatically. Great room bedroom had a walk in closet. Hands down this place is a 10

    « Nice Rooms & Great Location »

A very friendly and helpful staff made our stay so enjoyable. The outside of the hotel was worn, but the rooms had been recently redone and were nicely decorated, comfortable and clean. The location was near the ocean and State Street, so worked well for us. Negatives: breakfast was only so-so; we had trouble accessing the wi-fi. Overall a good value.

« Great location and value »

We were surprised to get a room right across the street from the Santa Barbara Harbor for this rate. With the elevator, the accessible room on the 2nd floor was perfect. Room was large with lots of outlets and space for medical machines & scooter. The bathroom was also large with a perfect roll-in shower. Plus, we could see the harbor and pier from our room. Ceiling fan was a nice touch. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The young man serving breakfast was especially helpful and personable.

    « Didn't get what we reserved. »

When you go out of town and you want certain things, you reserve certain things, but when you arrive and those things you reserve are not available all of a sudden, you should be taken care of to overcome the inconvenience. something, but not here. When i reserve a room with certain things, I WANT what i order. nothing less.

« Comfortable Stay in Santa Barbara »

We were in Santa Barbara to start planning our daughter's wedding and found this reasonably-priced Best Western property. It is an older motel, nicely updated, with clean rooms and very up-to-date bathrooms. The property is close to the harbor and beaches as well as not too far from downtown. Everything about the place suited our stay perfectly. The staff was especially warm and welcoming.

« great price and service, right across from the beach in Santa Barbara »

The staff is well-trained and exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location couldn't better - across from the beach, walk to the pier, can even walk to State Street if you want to take the 20 minutes. The rooms are updated and clean. Great HVAC units in each room. Nice pool and seating as well as a couple of pool side tables where you can enjoy your coffee. Great breakfast - lots of selection of fresh fruit, eggs and bacon, bagels-croissants-toast, cereal and yougurt. coffee availale 24 hours. the only reason i didn't give it 5 stars is that, although very well maintainced, it is an older, 1960s (?) property.

« Great place to stay in Santa Barbara »

All employees we had contact with were great ambassadors for this motel. They were friendly, polite and nothing was a problem for them. This is the third time we have stayed at this motel and would not consider staying anywhere else should we travel back to Santa Barbara sometime in the future. We requested a harbour view room on our first visit and it was amazing. When booking the second and third visit we requested the same room and it was granted to us without any problems. Thank you Harvey and staff for another wonderful stay at your establishment and hopefully we can return again in the not too distant future. Regards Merle & Warren Australia

    « Don't be fooled »

Don't be fooled because this motel looks a bit long in the tooth from the outside. Inside, our upgraded room was lovely and had been redone -- including the bathroom. It overlooked the harbor with a balcony and the design choices were lovely. The only downside was that all the lights and fan in the bathroom were controlled by one switch.

    « Very good »

We stayed here for two nights on a recent holiday and were very pleased with everything. The bed was very comfortable, the rooms were clean, the wifi was free and fast and the pool was a lovely temperature. Breakfast offered cooked items as well as a huge range of breads, pastries, cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt. The hotel is located just across the road from the beach and the balcony of our room offered a great view of all the activities going on in the harbour. We would definitely use this hotel again.

    « Extra Special »

We stayed here for an overnight between train trips and were very pleased with everything. The staff was very responsive and efficient, the manager very helpful, the room was clean, nice linens, and breakfast extra special. The food was great, personnel wonderful, fresh fruit along with the usual items. Even iced berry water in the lobby. Good location near Amtrak too. Very happy that we could open a window and didn't have to suffer with a/c all the time!
