"Great and so friendly"

sodiy, St. Albans, United Kingdom 14/05/2019

Only stayed one night on our US trip but would have liked to stay longer. Great location and a very nice room in a very nice hotel. Staff were so friendly and polite. Location is great close to the beach and some really nice restaurants and bars. Would definitely stay again if I find myself back in Santa Barbara again.

"Excellent Mother's Day Weekend"

Scenic26748161022, Diamond Bar, California 13/05/2019

The location is great! Walking distance to Marina. The check in was very efficient. The rooms were nicely decorated and clean. Small refrigerator in room. Superior quality continental breakfast served. We will stay here again. No problems or concerns. Parking lot was convenient but unload your car before parking. Only 1 elevator! Excellent trip!

"Good location, but that's about it."

lm1986, Bournemouth, United Kingdom 13/05/2019

Room was relatively spacious, but the bathroom etc looked tired and in need of attention. We didn't use the pool, but it wasn't particularly inviting. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming, and the breakfast was nice. Having said that, we would probably not stay here again.

"Spacious rooms and comfortable beds."

Elisabeth W, Sollentuna, Sweden 01/05/2019

We stayed for one night at the hotel in order to make a stop-over in the town before heading north. OK hotel with good parking and location just close to the harbour. The breakfast was OK, but as a Swede, I am not used to eat at paper dishes so that was an somewhat unpleasant experience. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

"Average Hotel"

User 30/04/2019

Super small Queen Suite, the room was very closterphobic, carpet could use a cleaning. The upside is the cleaning crew was very good, didn't miss a beat. The gentlemen that checked me in had a great personality and made us feel welcome.

"Great location"

User 23/04/2019

We stayed at the beachside Inn for a week while we got to know Santa Barbara. We walked and biked everywhere. We had a great view of the Marina, and were close to many excellent restaurants. The breakfast was very good. The staff was courteous, friendly and professional.

"Wonderful Staff!"

User 22/04/2019

I stayed here recently with my parents (who had been here 2 years ago and enjoyed it) and was impressed with how friendly and warm the staff was! The front desk staff chatted and offered good advice about places to eat in walking distance. I was most impressed by the young woman (whose name I forgot to ask) who was assisting during breakfast. Not only did she keep everything well stocked, but she helped clear tables, offered to grab silverware or something so you didn't have to get up again, and was just all around very sweet and personable. She made the experience even more pleasant! Room was clean, nicely decorated and quiet. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it!

User 13/04/2019

I love going to this hotel! We always get the room facing the ocean with a balcony! I could sit there for hours! We love being so close to all of the action and being able to walk everywhere or just hopping on the trolly!!

"Great location and friendly staff"

Vacation50157241686, London, United Kingdom 12/04/2019

The hotel is in a great location right opposite the beach and within walking distance of the main town. The hotel was clean. The staff were very grand helpful. The rooms were well equipped and the beds were extremely comfortable. Would definitely return

"Great location."

lizimc, Howden, United Kingdom 11/04/2019

Lovely spot, nice walk to pier. Bed comfortable but small by US standards. We were right outside pool. Noisy first thing. We were only staying one night on a road trip but if we'd been longer would have been annoying. Also possibly pool filter on during night?

"Why no hot water?"

LorrieNewHampshire, Wilder, Vermont 08/04/2019

As many reviewers have observed, the staff here is pleasant and helpful. However, they were unable to solve the problem we faced when trying to shower at 6:30 in the morning. After letting the water run for five minutes we still couldn't shower because no hot water reached the room. In a city which is encouraging people to conserve water, we felt that we could not waste any more and opted not to wash. YUCK! Management is aware of this problem but has not corrected it. We wish we had been forewarned. We'd have stayed elsewhere OR showered in the evening when there was hot water available. Disappointing end to an otherwise OK stay.

"Great Location and Staff!"

Randy G, Los Angeles, California 08/04/2019

Honestly my expectations weren't that high for this spot because of pictures and so forth. Price was great... Location was right across the beach path in Santa Barbara... Only downside it just kinda reminds me of a Motel 6, but honestly the rooms were decent and clean... Free Breakfast in the morning was standard but good... Our room was facing the pool area and at night it was quite noisy but this is a "Beach" area so i can't expect people to come to Santa Barbara and not be a bit noisy....but if we had an indoor room it might have been a bit better.... Overall I would recommend the place for location...cleanliness and STAFF! I say that again STAFF is key! Friendly, Helpful...they really are attentive and no how to take care of the guests needs or at least ask... Thanks again!

"Not Worth the $$$ Amount"

Climber00803837756, Chicago, Illinois 05/04/2019

The hotel room itself met up to my standards. However, when I checked in I was assigned a room that was still inhabitated by another couple. The house cleaning never gave enough soaps, etc. or toilet paper. Staff wasn't very friendly. Our T.V. remote was broken when we arrived. Not a great experience.

"Clean and comfortable!"

jehoban, Napa Valley, California 29/03/2019

Clean and comfortable with an amazing staff! Located across from the beach! Pool is shady but the beach is better anyway. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. They were able to accommodate our entire track team!

"Tired Hotel near the Beach"

marcb690, Anchorage, Alaska 20/03/2019

We stopped here during our drive down the California central coast. They were remodeling the front desk and lobby, so we checked in at a temporary desk in a small room near the elevator. The room looked tired and needed a remodel. It was clean. The walls were paper thin, and we listened to our neighbor's TV for several hours. The included breakfast was pretty good, although, like all such breakfasts, it was short on protein and long on carbs.

"Location! Location! Location!"

ralu25, toronto 18/03/2019

Great location! The beach and pier are just down the road. We especially enjoyed dinner at the harbour. Check in was fast with very helpful staff (they suggested the restaurant at the harbour). Room was fine – clean and spacious. Park next door has a number of homeless folks, one who serenaded us for awhile in the middle of the night. Breakfast was straight forward but filling. We would stay at the Beachside Inn again and recommend it.

"Just average"

ratpack2016, Harrison, New York 12/03/2019

The "curbside appeal" to this hotel is dismal. If we didn't already have a room reserved, I would have kept driving. Once we entered the lobby, things looked up. The lobby looked recently renovated, as did the breakfast area (breakfast is complimentary). I asked for a quiet room, away from the elevator, being reassured by the front desk it was, but when we located our room, guess what? It was right outside the elevator! The housekeeping utility room was right there as well, so that you could hear the staff talking during the evening. The corridor and pool area were much like the front...dismal. Once we entered the room, things looked up, and once we entered the bathroom, it took a bad turn once again. Clearly the hotel is undergoing renovation, with the final product looking promising. Our "view of the bay" was partially visible, but only if we looked beyond the homeless man laying on a bench at the bus stop across the street. When I saw him in the same spot in the morning, I worried he was not well, but by the time I went downstairs, he was gone. The pier is a bit down the street, but close enough to walk to. I love Santa Barbara, and would consider staying at the Best Western again once the renovation is complete.

anaferra2, Tulare, California 11/03/2019

First time ive been to this best western sad to say will be my last. Beautiful view but room was not . Toilet was extremely short even for me at 5 foot 2. Shower nobs didnt work cold water one was broken. Heater didnt work was told at check out had to be on sun raise to work . Would have been nice to know. Tried to take hot shower but since couldnt ragulate it cold water was flowing out had to call maintenance to turn off all he said is have to push harder lol.

Hi Ana, So sorry for your disappointment with our great little hotel. We are working hard after completing our renovation to teach all staff as well as our guests the operation of our state of the art HVAC system and fine tuning the new water faucets installed throughout the hotel require. The systems really are amazing once learned, but again so sorry you arrived and were inconvenienced during our learning curve period. All the best, HJRobbins - GM

"I could live here"

Brian K, Vancouver, Canada 26/02/2019

This hotel has lucked out in the location dept. It is literally across the street from two public pools and beach access one way and the local baseball stadium the other way. A short walk into town and many restaurants and stores. Across the street access to a walking and bike trail that goes a long way , [never made it to end]. The breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful, The breakfast room was clean and well kept up. The rooms were a bit dated although they were in the midst of a renovation and so things in that dept were looking up. Already planning my return holiday.

"Good location, nicely renovated rooms"

99dmf523, Bucks County, Pennsylvania 23/02/2019

Rooms were clean and nicely renovated. Good location being across the street from the beach and a nice little park right next to it. Few blocks from the main street with all the stores and restaurants and it wasn't too bad of a walk, but some may want to consider driving.

"Comfortable and Clean Rooms"

User 22/02/2019

Our room was nicely furnished and very comfortable. The bathroom could do with a makeover but it was functional and clean. The free WiFi was quite fast which was good, the breakfast could be better. Overall the location was great the accommodation was comfortable.

"Great hotel at great location."

User 22/02/2019

Our stay was amazing. They let us check in early and we had an amazing harbor view room. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Breakfast room is big with a lor of tables. Staff is very friendly.Located is 3 minutes from the harbor. I would definitely stay there again.

"Worst Western"

JeanneFleur63, Venice, Florida 19/02/2019

I have generally had good luck with this chain, so when I researched a weekend trip to Santa Barbara, I took the plunge of over 200$ a night, recognizing it's all about location. The room was marginally upgraded to only a mediocre standard and this was offset by the tiny space, all night noise from other guests on the walkway immediately outside my door, placement beside the very busy parking garage, and lobby construction. I usually trust other opinions on this website. But this place is a definite miss.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi JeanneFleur, Sorry you were so "underwhelmed" by your recent visit here. No excuses are to be made on my behalf as It was a rough week for all with the rain, the cold, our lobby construction delayed and even our cute swimming pool temporarily closed. Still, our hotel remained sold out and we tried our best. A few guest suffered for which we are very sorry. I'm sure as a first time guest visiting our great hotel, you were disappointed amidst all. The good news is, the sun is shining, we are ready to re-open our beautiful new lobby next week and everything is getting back to normal. I'm sure if you ever get the chance to visit under different circumstances, you will put the word BEST, back into our title. That I can promise as you can see from most of our year round reviews. Again, so sorry for your displeasure and all the best however!!! Harvey - GM

"Great location"

N1885AHkellym, Riverside, California 16/02/2019

Walking distance to the water, beach, warph, boat taxi, and tour trolley. The rooms have been remodeled. A few flaws, but the location is good. They also have outdoor balconies that are awesome. They have an ok breakfast.

"Great stay!"

kat503, Boulder, Colorado 12/02/2019

Beautiful updated rooms and breakfast area. Full hot breakfast served daily. Right across from the harbor - perfect location! Very convenient for walk on the beach, to the wharf, or downtown. Parking was easy and affordable at only $5 a day.

"Good hotel, great location!"

mrsrabbi04, Tega Cay, South Carolina 10/02/2019

Good hotel, was walking distance to pier and town. Nice balcony with view! Was able to walk at sunrise right across the street! Large town with shops and restaurants nearby. Would stay again, staff was very nice.

"Great Value in Santa Barbara CA"

User 03/02/2019

We stayed a week First, it is a great location. The Inn is about a quarter of a mile from the Strean's Wharf (seafood) and State Street (shopping) on Cabrillo Street which along the Beach. Recently remodeled, the rooms are comfortable. Beachside Inn is an older property. But, with the remodel, it does not show it's age. Our experience with the front desk was exactly what it should be congenial and efficient. The best part is that there is parking. In Santa Barbara, that is a great thing. And, no charge. The breakfast is adequate in the good sense of the word. With all the great food places in Santa Barbara, breakfast does not to exciting. Practical and energy for a lot of walking. I heartly recommend.

"good value in expensive area"

john_Bones3, Durango, CO 29/01/2019

The Best Western Beachside Inn is a good value in a city/area known for high prices. This hotel is a bit dated, but undergoing remodeling. It offers a pool, patio, nice breakfast buffet and wifi. Staff is professional and helpful. The main benefit of this place is superb location to Stern's Wharf and the harbor attractions which include a number of excellent seafood restaurants within walking distance. Also excellent restaurant 10 feet from the hotel. This place is on the corner so it can be a bit noisy, but nothing out of the ordinary.

"Bay View Hotel"

ToyYota, Carlsbad, California 23/01/2019

Great location for checking out the coastal area, bay, and of course " Funk Zone". All in eazy walking distance from hotel. Staff was very attentive and room was all way kept amazingly tidy. Our room was top floor with Bay view balcony. Decent free breakfast too.

"Nice view but not the hotel"

back2ak, Merced, California 18/01/2019

This hotel was under renovation so the big positive is the location right now. The rooms are OK but the bathrooms are horrible. I'm a short person and the toilet is barely at my shin. The shower itself needs renovating because it's obvious that it hasn't been updated for many many years. Bed was comfortable but you do have to ask for extra towels. Nice that it has a hot beverage bar 24/7

"not family-friendly"

User 05/01/2019

They advertise that rooms have cribs upon request, instead they provide a pack'n'play. There were none in our room. After multiple visits to the front desk, an employee brought a "crib", dropped it and was about to leave without setting it up. We asked them to install it. Employee was polite, but did not seemed interested in helping. The room was very cold when we arrived. We turned the heater on, but cold air was coming out. We asked the same employee to help, but were told to wait for ~20 mins for the heater to "warm up" and then will heat the room. Eventually the AC unit warmed up. If they know these units take this long, they could have left them on before we arrived. We did call in advance and told the staff the arrival time.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
We're sorry for the crib confusion you experienced. We advertise and use pack n plays for 7 years without incident or concern mentioned to us. Our hospitality distributor also advertises the pack n play as a crib, so we unfortunately misunderstood your exact need. In response to your heat concern, we offer as one of the few hotels in Santa Barbara, and completely central or individually controlled HVAC system for all our rooms. If the heat system has not been used for a while (most use AC) the cutover cycle does require 8-10 minutes until full heat is in the guest room. Sorry it took a bit longer in your case. We do not turn any units in advance of arrival for general energy conservation purposes, UNLESS we experience and extreme weather condition. Thank you for your comments, they are duly noted HJRobbins _ GM

"Santa Barbara Marina stop"

Z6570SSclairer, Alameda, California 03/01/2019

This was a stop on the way to another destination. Great location, short walk from restaurants and to the marina. Great for kids. Popcorn machine is a little plus for children. Breakfast was great too. Lots of parking space, they also have charging stations for hybrids. The room was a little bright in the morning, but aside from this we had a great stay!

"US Road trip Stopover 1: Santa Barbra"

User 03/01/2019

We went on a Road Trip up the west coast of the States this holiday and we stayed here for 1 night: In Summary: + Location. + Breakfast. + Value. + Clean Rooms. + Modern Look. - Thin Walls. Overall on our road trip this was one of the best places we stayed at. There was parking and checkin was simply and quick. Wifi is also good. Breakfast was amazing and the staff were very friendly. The owner even came to great everyone at breakfast and asked if everything is fine. Overall probably the most home like hospitality. The place is very modern and clean and definitely worth every cent we spent there. My only complaint was that the walls were thin so you do tend to hear the neighbors but fortunately we didn't have any noisy ones. I did feel that we didn't do all that Santa Barbra has to offer so when I return again, I'll be booking here for sure.

"No hot water & thin walls"

217jayneh, California 02/01/2019

This hotel is in a great location but so are many more. The bathroom is tiny. The room it's self was comfy & relaxing until our neighbors checked in. We then realized that the walls are very thin. When we went to bath our baby in the the morning and shower ourselves we discovered no hot water. When I complained about it at check out the young man said something had broken this morning. Not the best apology! We'll try a different hotel next time.

"Nice BW by the water"

WeeLuv2Travel2, Pennsylvania 24/12/2018

We were able to check in early and were given an upgrade. Nice comfortable room overlooking the water. Nice bathroom too. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was really good with hot and cold options. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Price was a little high but this is Santa Barbara.

mpen97, Sydney, Australia 23/12/2018

We had two nights booked here in mid December. The hotel is in a great location, being right across the beach (as per the name) and has very helpful staff. The room was very spacious and very modern, felt like it had been recently updated. There were tradesmen around the hotel during our stay (throughout appropriate times of course) who look like they were doing work around the hotel, however this did not interrupt our stay at all. A breakfast buffet was also included which was great. Parking available on site to guests for $5/night. Highly recommend this hotel.

"Perfect for the night "

613vivib, London, United Kingdom 22/12/2018

Stayed there for the night, very comfy large bed, fluffy towels, quality toiletries, great TV channels for my husband who could watch English football on. Breakfast decent, they even have soy milk, coffee could have been stronger. Scrambled eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, porridge, muesli, multicolored cheerios, yoghurt, juices, fresh fruit salad, variety of bread. The only downside being called at 2am see if we requested blankets?? Mentioned that to reception who were very sorry and waived the parking charge for the night.

"Just perfect"

anon571, Wellington, New Zealand 15/12/2018

Just a lovely place to stay..nicely done up..great service..clean rooms ..Good location..breakfast was great and areally nice friendly guy running the breakfast went out of his way to help...very clean..wished we had stayed longer.

"Life's a Beach"

Arkadiusz W, Adelaide, Australia 29/11/2018

First thing i instantly liked about this place was the 24 hour reception presence since we arrived late in the evening. The rooms were great too, big, bright and with a small balcony. Internet never failed and the bed was most comfy. The real highlight was the fantastic breakfast from 7 - 10 every morning with bagels, eggs, cereals, yogurts and danishes. All set in a large room with other hungry patrons. Its also situated close from the wharf and downtown, walking distance actually, and the marina is just across the road and also a nice large park. Everything worked perfectly for us here and we enjoyed our walks by the sea and through the beautiful town that Santa Barbara is.

"Great location"

Jill K, Los Angeles 29/11/2018

This property is in a great location if you want a harbor view and to be able to walk around town. It's an older motel so the layout of the hotel and rooms are not really up to today's standards, though they make the best with what they have. Where this hotel excels is the staff, they are all so helpful. they have a terrific breakfast which is included in the rate-- can't beat that! They have free internet and if you are looking for a clean hotel in a good location for a fair price, this is the place.

"Santa Barbara Beachside Inn + Fun!"

User 27/11/2018

This was an excellent location just a short walk from the Santa Barbara beach and Stearns Wharf. The rooms were comfortable, clean and cozy. The five of us stayed for two days and nights, November 23-25. It was reasonably priced with a good breakfast, especially for families. Everyone was helpful and friendly. You are walking distance to many local and European style restaurants/eateries like Due Lune, Viva (a good Mexican restaurant) and Rusty's Pizza Parlor and great places like the Santa Barbara Courthouse, the Sea Center and even the historic Moreton Bay Fig Tree and so much more. Thank you Best Western.

"Very Nice Hotel In a Great Loction"

Raymond F, Kingsport, Tennessee 27/11/2018

We stayed at this hotel while in town for a wedding of a family member. The hotel is in a great location overlooking the harbor. Very close to downtown and the historic district of Santa Barbara. Service was very good when we needed it. Breakfast was pretty good, but not a lot of vegetarian options that would have been better for me. Overall relaxing and comfortable for all families staying for the edding.

"Weekend Stay"

User 25/11/2018

Great Stay, Good Location, nice breakfast. Close to the wharf and across from the beach. The staff was friendly and the beds very comfortable. I would stay here again and reccomend to others. Loved Santa Barbara!

"Good Location"

houseLaPalma, La Palma 17/11/2018

This Best Western is conveniently located. You can see the water from the hotel. The price is reasonable for the location. There are all kind of restaurant close by. The A/C is very quiet. I will stay here again.

"Very satisfied "

donatellap445, Buenos Aires, Argentina 15/11/2018

I didn't expect much since my previous experience with BW was very bad. But we paid usd 100 and the room was very nice and clean, very abundant breakfast, located just in front of the beach (marina area) and in the same block of the best restaurant in town! Good value for money

"Amazing stay and great staff"

schaprez, Buena Park, California 11/11/2018

This is our go to in Sants Barbara. The staff is amazing, the location is spot on, walking distance to many places, the views from the rooms are awesome. Price is well worth it. It's a quiet, comfortable hotel.

"Nicely Remodeled and Great Full Breakfast Included"

User 11/11/2018

We stayed here for 2 nights. Our room was on the 2nd floor and faced to park. The street noise could be loud but wasn't constant. We had an adjoining room that was locked off. We could hear a baby in the next room fuss a little one night but fortunately that was all. I would ask for a non-adjoining room next time. The beds are super comfortable and the room was very clean. The parking was only 5 a night and the free breakfast included eggs, bacon, potatoes, an assortment of bread choices, cereal, coffee, hot chocolate, juices, etc. The attendant was great at keeping things stocked. The place is a little more of a walk to State Street than we would have liked but not too bad.

"Great view on upper levels!"

AKW52245, Iowa City, Iowa 04/11/2018

This hotel had a great view of the ocean and harbor if you get an upper floor. I had chosen the hotel for this view and because it was one of the cheapest hotels on this beachside street. The first night I had a wonderful view with a big balcony which has a table and chairs. The sun was divine on the balcony for a lot of the day. Because of a mix up with according to the hotel, I had to move the second night to the ground floor. They gave me a choice of a room with a patio but view of the parking lot or the ocean. Unfortunately, the ocean view which I took was pretty obscured and the street noise from cars and from people walking on the sidewalk was very disruptive. The rooms themselves had been recently redone. Sizable empty refrigerator. The price includes breakfast which had some hot options including eggs and potatoes. The breakfast room was very large and I used it to work prior to checking in. The pool was incredibly tiny and does not open until 9am. The sun was only over the pool for a relatively brief time. So I skipped it even though I had intended to use it. The hotel also could not get my best western number to work and said I would have to get it fixed with the main hotel chain.

Lisa C, Garden Grove, California 14/10/2018

Just stayed Wednesday they Sunday. Good location for harbor. Pool small but nicely heated. However I left a bathing suit behind the shower bathroom door and called about two and a half hours after we left. They said they'd ask housekeeping. Which would be by 500 pm. So of course housekeeping said it wasn't there. I know for a fact I left it there. I don't know why they were unable to have someone go to the room when I called or check with housekeeping then. They also very matter oF fairly say not there. So of course I think housekeeping kept it. So not too happy right now. How about let us check right away.they have to know who cleaned my room.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Lisa, Sorry for the missing bathing suit and the way you were treated. I'm not sure what went wrong here, but I'm looking into it personally. It really bothers me that you felt you were treated so nonchalantly, as you can see from our other reviews we typically treat our guests "royally" and you weren't. Hopefully you see this and can reach out to me, as I would enjoy chatting with you and offer compensation. Harvey - GM

"Great beach front location"

eliza1005, hertford 14/10/2018

Stayed for one night. I think the hotel has had a make over. Really enjoyed our stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Checkin was quick and easy. Car parking just by reception. It's the last hotel/motel along the harbour road, but you can easily walk into the main area. Harbour and sea/beach straight across the road. Main high street/state street a Lille walk to your right. Rooms very clean and smart. Pool area in the middle. Losing sun later in the day. Good to have breakfast included. Had all you needed. Water and coffee in reception any time. Would stay again

"Lovely new room very comfortable "

savethesharks999, london 13/10/2018

We had moved here for a night after the brisas just a min away on same street as they had no more rooms Our king room was a signature room and was lovely and large & very clean apart from the ceiling fan blades which are filthy on the edges I strongly suggest management speak to housekeeping and make sure they add this as a daily up keep. We was on the rear so had a tiny terrace area with high walls for privacy Ideal for sitting with a coffee or evening drink The bathroom is brand new and excellent but the shower although new is very under powered not good considering its new ish. The AC is new and works perfectly in fact i had to turn it off it got so chilly The bed is very comfy and the amenities are ok. I would prefer to see a shower gel/wash but only shampoo and cond Or a bar of soap But still useable as its new Furniture & storage wise i cant fault it You get an iron and board as well The pool is small but warmish a tad more heat ie 80' dgrees is ideal but its good enough. Only problem is the location of pool is not great as even in the early afternoon it is far to shaded and gets chilly out there and could do with being a larger area overall but again far better than no pool There is quite a bit of noise from constant slamming of doors from people when coming or going from car park areas etc which are right by the rooms and the noise seems to reverberate through the corridor area & into the room etc. This again could be an easy fix A lot of hotels in Dubai have spring loaded doors that once opened shut more slowly and very quietly as the spring pulls the door shut , thus negating the need for people to slam doors Simple but seems American hotels do not use this idea why i have no idea ? Other than some small points it was a nice stay. We would book again with no problem. Just ask for the new rooms

"Great location and great view"

LAH0706, Essex, United Kingdom 10/10/2018

We arrived as part of our honeymoon, travelling the Californian coast. Check in was easy and the receptionists were polite and congratulated us on our marriage (Wife had already emailed ahead). Our room was on the 3rd floor and had a great view of the harbor (think we may have received an upgrade?) with a small balcony which gave us the opportunity to appreciate it. The room was huge and very tidy. Very good sized bed and very clean throughout. Also had plenty of plug sockets and USB charger sockets. Plenty of hotel parking with a direct life from the car park for easy access to the rooms (and stairs for when you haven't got your bags). Breakfast was good. not the biggest selection, but i didn't not expect it. Hot options were scrambled eggs, sausages and something else that i cannot remember. bread, biscuits and bagels were available along with a toaster. Overall, just enough of what you need for a quick breakfast. Location was very good. Unfortunately it rained a lot of the time we were there so we could not enjoy walks along the beach as we hoped, but such easy access to do so when the weather is good and can also walk to the pier (i would say 10 minutes?) or to the main road with restaurants and shops (15-20 minute walk maybe?) Overall would be very happy to stay here again as we really enjoyed our stay.

"Location Is Good, Condition is Awful!"

Juliene18, Reno, Nevada 08/10/2018

We just spent the weekend in Santa Barbara at the Beachside Inn and arrived to a room with sawdust and particle board all over the floor, it smelled like musty socks, the room was about 67 degrees and the heater wouldn't work. There were no extra blankets anywhere, (none in the closet made of painted particle board) and the water in the 1969 shower wouldn't get hot for 10 minutes. The furniture was all mismatched and the mattress was old and lumpy. After telling the front desk about it the next morning, she just reprimanded me for not calling down to the front desk at 11:00 pm to have maintenance come to the room to fix it. I told her that we had been driving for nine hours and all we really wanted at that point was a clean, warm room, not some guy trying to fix the little wall unit heater. The bathtub was dirty and rusted and the toilet was in this tiny space with a door that was about the size of a phone booth. Seriously, you had to close the door to get to the toilet, literally go in sideways, step over the toilet with one leg, lean back, then shut the door. The VIEW from the overpriced Harbor Side room was very nice but certainly didn't make up for the condition of the room. They do serve a nice breakfast that comes with the price of the room, but I'm afraid it was too little too late.

"Gave it a chance..."

run4rfun, Nipomo 08/10/2018

We were in Santa Barabara for one night to see a show. Many of the nice hotels were already booked, so we had very little options. This hotel says it is fully renovated and the pictures online look nice but it is a joke. There is nothing wrong with a Best Western, but for over $300, our room was a joke. It was still a rundown room at the Best Western. The wood paneling is just wall paper on the wall and the cabinet...ours was partly peeling off. The bathroom was NOT renovated and it had an awful smell from the moment we walked in. If you are going to call the rooms renovated and charge that price point, you better have renovated the bathroom too! Total disappointment, do not waste your money.

"Don't let the outside fool you"

lbznyc603, New York City, New York 07/10/2018

For my Labor Day weekend travel plans to SB, I chose this hotel because it was the best priced, came with breakfast, and was in a decent location. The pictures online looked great and the room was recently remodeled according to the site. I chose a room with a balcony, facing the sea. Walking up to the hotel, I was a bit weary. It looked like a basic hotel. The parking lot, the pool, the elevator really need some updating. I thought to myself "Oh no, I chose the wrong hotel." But once I opened the door to the room, I was most pleasantly surprised by how great it was - nicely appointed and spacious. I think the bathroom wasn't quite remodeled, but it was clean and didn't look awful. The hotel staff are great - so friendly and knowledgable. Mostly everyone at the front desk seemed to be college age - but were very efficient and competent. The free breakfast was simple, but filling and a decent selection. The balcony wasn't really a balcony though - no chairs were outside so we moved the chairs from the room out there and they just fit. I think you have to have a higher room to have a balcony with furniture and you can actually sit outside and enjoy. I'd definitely stay here again!

"Clean and well located "

User 21/09/2018

The Beachside Inn is a good moderately priced place to stay in Santa Barbara as it is close to the Marina and an easy walk to the other pier and the start of State Street. The rooms are clean, the breakfast is fine for what it is. Plenty of free parking at the back. If you are not planning on spending a lot of time in your room and just looking for a place to sleep, the Beachside is good. Nice views of the Marina with balcony.

"Nice and clean"

SharonS2355, Onyx 16/09/2018

We stayed here two nights and will do so again. Close to freeway and town and ocean. Nice staff and clean rooms. A breakfast is available as well as a pool. We requested a downstairs room and the staff was very accommodating.

"Lovely hotel"

KazAllen, Newcastle, Australia 16/09/2018

We decided to stay in Santa Barbara for 2 nights on our drive from San Francisco to San Diego and this turned out to be a great decision. Our stay at Best Western Beachside Inn was very, very nice. We opted to splurge a little and had a Harbour View Room which was fantastic, very roomy with a lovely view.Brett at Reception recommended a restaurant on the harbour walk called Endless Summer which was really lovely and had great Happy Hour soecials! If we ever come back to Santa Barbara we will definitely stay here again.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi KazAllen, Not much to say...but Thank you. If you found us last minute, and you decided to return when needed, that's the best news and compliment we could have. See you next time! HJRobbins - GM

"Edge of town right by the Ocean"

User 04/09/2018

You can smell the ocean and easily take in the sites of this costal beach community. A 5 Star resturant right at your door step or just watch the boats slip in and out of the harbor. Room clean and comfortable. I am here with our family and we aren't the only family here. I believe the Swiss family Robinson's are in town too. You got to love a good Swiss group. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance Rent a SUP to a catamaran or jet ski. There's much to do or not do from this abode. Oh yes there's a pool and friendly staff. The bed is comfortable and a park just to the north. I recommend this place.

"Nice hotel "

VolvoCowgirl, London, United Kingdom 30/08/2018

We stayed in the new part of the hotel on the ground floor. The new part is very modern and clean. Rooms are big with bed, table and chairs. The bathroom very big and clean and new. The only downside is the noise from the road as your window is basically next to it, morning traffic is so noisy and because it's new the banging of doors are very loud. Would stay again though, staff are lovely and friendly especially destiny at breakfast and the boy with blonde highlights at reception.

"Last Minute Accomadations"

saguzman2018, Long Beach, California 29/08/2018

We were traveling home and decided to stop in Santa Barbara. The location is wonderful. Our room did not share any common walls so it was very quiet. The room was boutique like and worked for us. The pull out sofa was in a small separate room with its own tv. And the bathtub was extra deep which I loved. Check out is Noon and we had time to walk to the beach across the street and take the city shuttle up State Street for some shopping before we checked out. Our 10yr old loved the pool.

Brightiz, Santa Fe, New Mexico 27/08/2018

Bad experiences and so bad they tried to get us to stay over at no charge, but when your on vacation that's difficult. Room was dirty and smelly, and the attitude of the desk was bad. Also noise was crazy. It's the only bad best western I've ever stayed at.

"Girls Visit"

User 24/08/2018

The hotel is close to the Harbor and about a mile from the Wharf. Bus Service is available in front of the hotel for the wharf and SState Street. The hotel has a pool and courtyard, which was pleasant for families. The breakfast was great! All staff members were very nice and hospitable. The room was comfortable and had a good night sleep. Would definitely return to this hotel!

"Santa Barbara Getaway"

RainesD, Sherman, Connecticut 24/08/2018

Great staff ! Clean facility. Updated Rooms and located right across from the beach and shops. Staff was beyond responsive and extremely helpful as this was our first visit to Santa Barbara.Pool was refreshing with plenty of room to sit and have a drink. The breakfast was perfect to start off our morning. Location was perfect with plenty of on site, secure parking. Will definitely return for future stays.

"Wonderful Stay"

robertaj971, Hazlet, United States 23/08/2018

A great location that is within walking distance of the harbor, beaches, pier, park, trolley and restaurants. I had a beautiful view of the harbor and part of a park. Yet, there was almost no noise. I don't know why other reviewers complained. The room was fairly quiet.Clean, comfortable, safe accommodations. So glad the room had a fridge. Very friendly and helpful staff. Check-in/Check-out was a breeze. A great breakfast is included, and it's not all carb, as in some hotels. Lots of protein for those who want/need it. Coffee, tea and ice water are available 24/7.

"Great stay"

Pete S, South Shields, United Kingdom 22/08/2018

Stayed 2 nights in the best western beachside inn, Santa Barbara. The hotel is very relaxed, comfortable and clean, with excellent staff who are happy to give good advice and make you feel welcome. The complementary breakfast is more than adequate and the hotel is in an excellent location handy for both the shopping district (20 minute walk) and the beach, harbour and pier.

"Colorado Family Beach stop"

momof2wildchilds, Erie, Colorado 19/08/2018

Great hotel, comfortable beds, decent pool and so close to the harbor & beach. Our teenage kids have their own room & really like the property as well. We are just here one night tonight, then going on a dive trip. We will be back here after the trip for a night as well before we fly back to CO. Great central location in Santa Barbara. Since we are part of a dive group the Hotel was included in our trip package. Looking on the BW site it looks like a room costs about $250/night for this time of year.

"Good for a one night stay"

User 16/08/2018

We stayed here only 1 night, to see the town of Santa Barbara. The hotel is more like a motel, but the rooms are spacious and the staff is very friendly. Another plus is that you couldn't hear anything from the street next to the hotel. The beds are nice too. I wouldn't eat my breakfast there again, it is very basic and not tasty.

"Renovated Hotel right by the beach"

jose m, San Jose, California 08/08/2018

The hotel looks like it went through recent renovations with nice modern decor. The room is clean and everything looks brand new. Hotel staff was friendly and quick. Got a balcony room next to the street but barely any noise was notable when doors were closed. Easy walk to the pier and state street which made it very convenient if you dont want to take your car everywhere and search for parking. Didn't try out the breakfast but looks like they had several options with plenty of seating.

raymedina25, Pomona, California 01/08/2018

The hotel and staff were awesome from check in to check out. The room was beautiful and it was great right across from the beach with the lovely view of it. Right across from the park and minutes away from downtown.

"Great location great stafg"

chdewitt, Carlsbad, CA 29/07/2018

Absolutely a terrific experience. Nice room, friendly professional staff and a very good free breakfast. Easy walk to both piers, State Street and the train station. Tomas is one of the best restaurants in Santa Barbara is right next door. Perfect!

"Not a bad place to stop"

Andrew C, St. Albans, United Kingdom 29/07/2018

The hotel is a bit tired looking and isn't the most attractive of hotels, especially as other hotels were more aesthetically pleasing. Having said that the service was friendly and rooms were good. Breakfast was a bit limited in their choice of selection.

"Great location on a great destination"

Thomas E, Indio, California 26/07/2018

My wife and I just got back from a short stay in Santa Barbara. The Beachside Inn is a wonderful spot just across the street from the harbor. We had a king room with a small balcony. The room was comfortable and clean. We heard some grumbling about the $5 daily parking fee, but I didn't think it was unreasonable. The breakfast was a bit limited - there are many great coffee spots in town. These are minor quibbles, but I have to mention that odd bathroom. It is divided into three small rooms: Toilet, bath/shower, and vanity/sink. The vanity is tiny - hardly big enough for one at a time much less two. My biggest issue, though, was that there is a single switch that turned on ALL the lights and an obnoxiously loud fan. The lighting over the vanity was also glaringly bright. A small amount of effort could remedy this. Staff was friendly and helpful, and despite the minor issues we would definitely stay here again. Easy walk from the property to shops and restaurants, plus there is available public transit close by.

"Good location with lower rates"

SeaWA, Graham, Washington 25/07/2018

Decent bargin for this city. So close to the water. Free breakfast had eggs, ceral, toast, fruit, i think the wss sausage and bacon. It was adequate. Staff was friendly, free Wi-fi held up pretty well during a vudeo call. Did have to turn video off to keep great audio. My room was recently redone and had a nice bathroom.

"Very Good!!!!"

SueBuenosAires, Buenos Aires 24/07/2018

We booked a room, we were four. The room was comfortable and so was the bathroom. The people at the front desk are really kind and always ready to answer any question. There is hot coffee and tea available all day long, fruit and chocolates. Breakfast is very good, too. The hotel is very well located and we had sea view from our balcony.

"Nice view but tiny patio"

User 18/07/2018

Pros first: Fridge was cold, they let us have a late checkout, nice view, centrally located, within walking distance of the beach, excellent restaurants, clean hotel room, good free breakfast, nice staff. Cons: Tiny patio, if facing the bayside, you get car exhaust coming at you due to being on a main street, not close enough to Starbucks (addiction sucks), narrow parking lot, but at least there was plenty of parking due to a mandatory hotel parking permit area. Overall, good place to stay when passing through Santa Barbara. Would stay again if I was in the area.

"Don't be fooled, it's a motel NOT a hotel "

MauriceMashiach, New York City, New York 09/07/2018

Have been coming from the Beverley Hilton, a four star hotel and paying a rate of $275 a night, we drove to Santa Barbara and figured we would stay in this “hotel” for one night and return to LA the next day. However we were quite disappointed with our experience; the rate of the hotel was a hefty $200 for our one night yet the value is worth less than half that. The interior and exterior of the “hotel” is subpar with exception to the ground level hallway near the dining room, which seemed fully renovated and more closely resembles the price we payed. Unfortunately, we stayed on the second floor which was downright mortifying. All I can say is that it once again resembled a motel rather than a hotel. The room itself wasn't bad but was small and the bathroom seemed old and yet again, extremely small. On the contrary, the service was above average and the staff was accommodating and kind. The breakfast was also decent but lacked variety. Sadly I would not stay at this hotel again nor recommend it to anyone given its price and value.

"Pre-dive accommodations "

Jim D, Roseville, California 04/07/2018

Location is superb, as we are right across the street from the Santa Barbara harbor, staying the night before 3 day dive trip. Not sure what the other reviewers were talking about street noise, while it would have been nice to sleep with the slider open, I decided to close it & pull the curtains closed, nice & quiet. The free continental breakfast was basic scrambled eggs, bacon & potatoes + fruit, rolls, coffee, juice & milk. Would stay here again & recommend to others.

"Great Stay"

soccermom40, Hauppauge, New York 03/07/2018

This is a great Best Western. The location is perfect- walking distance to the pier and town and right next to Tomo restaurant which was delicious. The rooms are modern, clean and very comfortable. The front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming. I loved the very large breakfast room with the expanded breakfast options. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again!

"Location location location"

User 29/06/2018

Pros: location. Walking distance to pier, restaurants, liquor store, etc. We also enjoyed the baseball game across the street at the park. The room was recently updated and nice. The breakfast was nice and they offered fresh baked cookies in the evening. All of the staff was friendly and accommodating. Cons: bathtub/shower not updated. Old tile and the curtain was challenging as the rod was installed incorrectly. The balcony was tiny. Our room was on the street side of the property and we had very loud vehicle noises all night. I had to ask for ear plugs.

caleb999, Exeter, United Kingdom 17/06/2018

Great location with all clean amenities The staff were very helpful Parking at a great price The breakfast was amazing and included in the price The best Best Western we have ever stayed in Great value

"High value for money!"

perhogstrom, Santa Barbara, California 08/06/2018

Everthing is good with this Hotel. Viewing the harbour while enjoying the free breakfast buffet, nice rooms, friendly and helpful staff, walking distance to city centre, nice pool area. What else can you wish?

"Everything is excellent"

gemini243732, Mission Viejo, California 30/05/2018

The location was perfect,we booked 2 rooms which were different types (1king with view and balcony,1queen regular) but they upgraded same type just no balcony with view so the both rooms were nice. Staying balcony was much enjoyable. The breakfast was not just a continental, there were much more than expected. The location was very good, close enough to go to the harbor and downtown by walking or shuttle bus($0.50/PP). The only extra cost is $5 parking fee. I'd stay there again.

"Walk from train station"

Mark H, SJC, CA, United States 29/05/2018

Great place to stay and easy and pleasurable walk from the train station. Breakfast alone was worth a lot to me and the coffee at Best Western hotels in general make them stand out against the competition.

"Nice but..."

JimFinPortland, Seattle, Washington 27/05/2018

We stayed one night at this hotel and it certainly has some very good features but there was a big issue as well. First the good. The location is excellent, with the beach across the street on one side and a nice park on another. It is close to downtown, the pier, the train station and an easy drive to the Mission and other points of interest. The check-in was quick and the staff were very friendly. The room was for the most part newly renovated, modern and clean. The bath/shower has not yet been replaced and does show it's age but it was clean as well. The breakfast is served in a large and comfortable space and there is a good selection of hot and cold foods that were kept fresh even towards the end of the breakfast hours. So why only a 3 rating. The problem was with noise. This is an older property and though the rooms are renovated, there is very little soundproofing in the walls. In our room, there was a connecting door to the next room, which was common in the era this was built, but it let in even more sound than the walls. This was a particular problem at 12:15 am when the people next door checked in with a wailing child. Recognizing it is impossible to keep a child from crying, soundproofing in a hotel becomes even more important. There was significant noise, enough to keep us awake for about 30 minutes and then again early in the morning. This time it was a child who did fall asleep relatively quickly, but if it had been someone who stayed up very late, had the TV on loud, or any other noise common in a hotel, it would have been even more uncomfortable. And, because of the connecting door, we could hear everything said in the next room when someone was anywhere near the door. This would be a privacy concern as well. Having stayed in a significant number of hotels, this was about the worst we have experienced for noise from the next room. In addition, the walkways to the upper rooms are cantilevered and the sound of rolling bags and maid carts is very loud and can be clearly heard in the rooms. We would have liked this to be a place we could stay when in Santa Barbara because of the location but with the noise, we will not be making a return trip.

"Great Value With an Amazing Location!"

User 26/05/2018

Recently remodeled with a top-notch staff who go out of their way to make your stay a great one! From check- in to check out my experience was top notch. Their complimentary breakfast definitely was leaps and bounds over most hotel's continental breakfast variety. Hard to beat the view / location too!

"Great Stay Near the Marina!"

Stacey F, Upland, California 17/05/2018

Stayed here for 2 nights with a friend while visiting my daughter at UCSB. We had a great view of the Marina and our room was spacious and clean. Such a great place to stay to walk on the boardwalk and see the sites. Breakfast was was simple yet perfect! Having coffee and tea out at all times is a plus too. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! Will be staying here again!

Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of a 6 week sojourn - was everything we needed! Room was spacious; beds were comfortable; shower easy to manage and strong; breakfast plentiful and varied; staff obliging and polite; position of hotel exceptional- right across from beach. Would stay again

"Your HOME Away From HOME!"

EThePaperBagPrincess, Los Angeles, California 09/05/2018

If finding the Perfectly Positioned, Presented and Priced Hotel is what you are after then you truly should look no further. This Hotel may well be an important link in the Best Western Hotel chain, but it is so much more than that! This is my third stay at The Beachside Inn, and I have to say I honestly could not wait to arrive again this past weekend for my quick little get-away. The Hotel is just 90 minutes from LA and a half an hour from a quick trip to Ojai....I just love the Farmer's Market there! The Beachside Inn has the style and feel of an upscale Boutique Hotel with a Family Owned and Operated Hotel refinement. It is my feeling that this is because of the terrific Hotel Manager, Harvey and all his incredible Team Members. From the Home Baked Cookies and Fresh Fruit and refreshments always readily available at the front desk to the delicious complimentary Continental breakfast every morning in the lovely newly renovated dinning area. No detail is ever left to chance and the entire staff seems absolutely committed to giving all its Guest a truly FIVE STAR experience. The Beachside Inn is just steps from the ocean and the gorgeous beach, as well as Toma, one of Santa Barbara's finest Italian restaurants. You can simply park your car in the large Hotel Parking Lot and just walk everywhere around downtown Santa Barbara from this vantage point. If you have children you may have a tough time getting them out of the hotel pool, but not to worry, you should just kick-back and lounge poolside while soaking up some of the beautiful Santa Barbara sunshine. I love that all the rooms have a refrigerator, as well as all the other necessities. I really appreciate being able to bringing my own snacks, or having the option to slip my delicious leftovers from Toma into the refrigerator for a little late night snacking! Book early especially during high-season because the Hotel does fill up quickly! As for me, I can not wait to steal away again very soon and check out yet another of their beautiful remodeled suits. Enjoy!!! I know I did!!! EMM

"disaster in paradise"

User 01/05/2018

We paid extra (200+) to stay in a room with a view of the Santa Barbara harbor. The view was excellent and enjoyable. The bathroom was a disaster. It was as though the Three Stooges had plumbed it. The breakfast was so bad that we went to a nearby Breakfast place. We are Platinum members and so stay at Best Westerns a lot. We know what to expect and what not to expect. This was our worst experience which is a shame since this property is in a beautiful location.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
HI Guys, Thanks so much for being one of our valuable platinum members, and so sorry you you were so "underwhelmed" by our hotel. We recently finished a complete renovation, with the last part,, our bathroom upgrades scheduled shortly..As for breakfast, we have a brand new breakfast room, as shown on our website photos, and offer one of the best breakfasts available as hundreds of our reviews show. So, so sorry it wasn't to your liking. I wish we could have met and spoke about this while you were here. All the best and my apologies HJRobbins - GM

"Room 222"

sacopeland, Bakersfield, California 19/04/2018

If you value your sleep and are not a night owl Room 222 is not for you. Establishment next door which butts up next to the bed wall empties glass bottles into dumpster repeatedly after 10PM. Noise bearer between 2nd and 3rd floor could be improved. Great location and friendly staff though.

"Delightful stay."

User 16/04/2018

Wonderful stay. Friendly and efficient staff. Clean rooms and lobby. Quality breakfast buffet. Convenient location to major attractions in Santa Barbara. Good amenities. Abundant and fair price for parking.

"The night before surgery."

TONY A, Paso Robles, California, USA 08/04/2018

My wife and I went there the night before my surgery. The Harbor view was great, we sat out that evening after walking to the pier for dinner. It is a great place to stay, the staff is very friendly and helpful. We will stay there again.

"great location, nice rooms, helpful staff"

User 30/03/2018

Rooms were really nice--clean, well-decorated. The location was across the street from the harbor and beach and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The staff was very helpful and nice. The only issue I had was the noise level.

User 26/03/2018

This is such a great location for a stay in Santa Barbara. I have stayed here in 2014 and 2017 - never with pets but remarked both times that pets were allowed. However, in 2017, management changed the policy to No pets allowed. Service animals (?) are ok but my cat would not qualify. I do love my cat.

"Friendly Staff"

Karen D, Elk Grove, California 22/03/2018

We stayed in a newly renovated room, very clean. Breakfast was good. Close to harbor so we did some walking around. The only thing I think they should do is tell you there is a $5 parking fee. We did not know about that til we arrived. We booked on and all it said was self parking. Friendly staff and made a great recommendation for dinner!

"Clean and Orderly"

ronda D, Walla Walla, Washington 18/03/2018

The breakfast was great and most of all was clean and sanitary. The breakfast area was well managed with a nice variety and replenished clear to the time it closed. A great value for Santa Barbara. Next to the Beach.

BeachsideGM, Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Thank you for staying with us at the Beachside Inn. I'm sorry that your stay wasn't completely satisfying. I was happy that you enjoyed our breakfast, we strive to make every stay special.

"Great Updated rooms"

"Fabulous place to stay"

heathermartinuzzo, San Diego, California 09/03/2018

Fabulous location, great breakfast & staff. Nicest Best Western we have stayed in as the rooms newly renovated. Positioned just across from the water within walking distance to shops. Pool is clean & private with towels supplied.

"Newly renovated room and great location"

ksez1, New England 03/02/2018

This location was excellent and a short walk from the harbor. The room was very clean and new. The breakfast was substantial with lots of fresh cut fruit and eggs (also cookies out front in the evening). There were a few concerns but I think that might be why the price on the app I used was so low. Our room was across from the Ice machine and vending machine and next to a entry door to the rest of the building which slammed every time someone went through. I also think the room was a handicap accessible room because the shower was huge with a glass door but was not in a separate room (which was awkward for even an old married couple ) Otherwise, I would have rated this as a 4 star. But as mentioned previously, we good the room for a good price.

"Wonderful place to stay in Santa Barbara!"

V8695GLbruceb, Fontana, California 31/01/2018

This hotel is fantastic! The room location and staff are all wonderful great value for the money. We had a Harbor View room which despite being on a main Boulevard was very quiet and relaxing. The rooms are recently remodeled and beautiful. We will definitely return!

"Manager lies in his emails"

omarucsb, Santa Barbara 30/01/2018

Booked a stay for December. The week of my stay was the start of the thomas fire. I had an event I planned to attend saturday so that was the reason for the booking. Thursday evening I get an email stating that event is postponed. Unfortunately cancel policy was thursday 4pm. I reached out to best western about felxibility with cancel policy due to the fire etc, was ignored. Showed up, smoky area, pool is outdoors so couldnt use it. Just a poor stay altogether as my event was not taking place, couldnt use the pool, and the nearby area was ashy and covered with smoke. But if I dont show up, I take a hit on my rate. I did a follow up survey with best western and the manager emailed me back stating that I could have cancelled the room without issues(thanks for letting me know BEFORE) and to contact him if he can be of further assistance. I reached back out to him two weeks ago after his email and still nothing. As an FYI, a few days prior to my stay I received an email welcoming me for my upcoming stay, why couldnt they have also sent out an email saying that cancel deadlines would be flexible due to the conditions?

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Omar, So sorry for your continued frustration. I feel that the tragic situations for all of us here in Santa Barbara / Ventura have caused a bit of tension all around. Rest assured I have just emailed you with a resolution that I'm sure can work. But as always we are open to hearing what you might need, to feel better about all that has happened. We did cancel 400-500 reservations without issue for everyone during that period and we are so sorry that was not made clear to you. We remain here to help!!! HJRobbins - GM

"Thin walls, great location"

User 22/01/2018

Located right in front of the ocean, it was beautiful. Nice to walk around and take in the views. right by the pier, Perfect for lunch or dinner. Not super close if you are trying to stay on state street. I think we walked about 3 miles in and 3 miles back. Rooms were clean, bed was comfy, walls are thin. My husband and I went with his parents, we could hear their entire conversation. These are adults speaking in a normal level, not kids yelling. We could hear families with kids running upstairs and being loud, but they settled down around 11pm so it really wasn't bad. Breakfast was good, no big surprises. Great rooms, but if you're a light sleeper it might be an issue.

"Mediocre hotel in a mediocre area"

framemanusa, Manlius, New York 19/01/2018

The pics were nice. We were excited. Then we arrived and were given a standard room when we paid for a balcony room. I asked to be switched but no. I figured we'd just make the best of it. The bed was a bit uncomfortable, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Then I woke up in the middle of the night with both feet numb. It turned out the bed was higher at the foot than at the head. I wen't to the desk and was assured that they are going to start a multi-million dollar renovation. Didn't do us much good though. In the morning we decided to walk around the area. I mean Santa Barbara! Nope. Drab and dreary area to match the hotel.

"Right on the beach front"

User 18/01/2018

For a more 'traditional' motel type hotel rooms were high end décor and comfort. The pool was an added bonus alothugh it is over looked by all the passageways to the door and in the middle of the building - welcome to cool down after a hot morning sightseeing though.

"Not very comfortable"

Barbara C, San Clemente, United States 13/01/2018

Staff was excellent, but room location is RIGHT ON THE SIDEWALK. If you're on the first floor, you can't open curtains because you'd be on display. Street noise even late when the street sweeper goes by. Decor is "cold" and spartan. Really not a very comfortable hotel for the price.

"Great Location"

martyb2018, Bakersfield, United States 12/01/2018

This hotel provides a hotel experience far above the price they charge. The rooms are nicely appointed, clean, and quiet. This hotel is close to the harbor and many fine boutique eateries. I would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

"Exceptional service and genuine caring"

Lynn B, Worcester, United States 11/01/2018

We stayed here when the torrential rain and mudslides hit this area. The manager kept us well informed of the situation, and was sure to check in with us to be sure we stayed safe. We were unable to continue on to our next destination due to road closures, and they were able to book us another night without a problem. The manager even checked with us the next morning to be sure we were aware of road closures and areas we needed to avoid. Excellent customer service and a clean and comfortable hotel. I'd stay there again!

"Excellent stay at a great location"

anthonyrY8229EL, Ann Arbor, United States 11/01/2018

This hotel has been recently renovated with updated rooms and a new larger breakfast area. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and took care of our every need. It is right across the marina and next door to a park and the community college. We will be staying here again on our next trip.

"Comfortable but too noisy"

Y8074FTleslieb, Laguna Niguel, United States 11/01/2018

We enjoyed the comfortable pillows and beds and the cleanliness of the room. But noise from nearby rooms during the night was a problem for us and for another couple traveling with us who had another room elsewhere in the hotel. Also the bathroom was difficult to use because the toilet was much too close to the tub./shower.

"Not elegant but nice"

AsEyeSeizeIt, Fountain Valley, California 28/12/2017

Little in the way of elegance or upscale, however, the room was extremely clean, comfortable and close to everything. There's a very nice pool, and just down the walkway from our room we found a charming patio to sit and enjoy the coast. It was less than a ten minute walk to the pier and State Street, so you can leave the car behind for a parking fee of $5.00 a day. A bargain in itself! Friendly staff, coffee, tea and fruit in the lobby 24-7 and a free breakfast. Really? An amazing little find in the big city.

"An Excellent Hotel"

John M, Hemel Hempstead 27/12/2017

I'd heartily recommend this hotel. I stayed here two years ago and again in Decemeber 2017. This time, the hotel has been refurbished to a high standard, with spotlessly clean and beautifully appointed rooms and a light and airy breakfast area. Complimentary breakfast is comprehensive and appetising, and the staff are kind and helpful. The hotel is located on the shoreline, opposite the marina, which makes it convenient for atmospheric dining at Brophy's - a more authentic experience than those found on State Street. This hotel is my choice when in Santa Barbara.

"Great Location"

nmd1506, Austin,TX 25/12/2017

I stayed here in October, it was rather during hot weather time period for this area. The hotel is conveniently located between Stearns Wharf and the Harbor Wharf. The room was clean, the bathroom was clean. A swimming pool is in the center of the complex. The area is quiet, the staff is friendly. The breakfast was on the light side. You are walking distances to the wharves for eating and sightseeing. Right across the street from the hotel is the beach and a hike/bike pathway. Air conditioner worked well. I would stay here again

"Great Job during tough times"

roberttN6447EJ, Palm Desert, United States 20/12/2017

I was in town on business and it was during the fires. Everyone was so nice and other then the soot the hotel was perfect. They should get a spa but great job. I love this place and the people here are the best.

"Prison toilet in closets"

jorge p, Los Angeles, California 11/12/2017

Skip this place until remodel is complete. No hot water on third floor king room.Toilets in 29'' wide closet, so impossible to spread legs wide enough to wipe properly.Female staff great, gentleman somewhat a smartty pants. Hotel was empty , when I ask about another room with diffrent toilet lay out he smirked and refused to even consider it all though my original reservation was for a quern suite, i was upgraded to a king room with prison toilet.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Thank you Jorge for being so considerate of others during the Thomas Fire here in Santa Barbara, its blackouts, and our need to help evacuees and frightened families during life threatening situations. I'm so happy your priorities are correct, and your concern with yourself and with the width of our toilet area, and your ability to make a scene over all this in our lobby was your priority. A job well done!! HJRobbins - GM

ElaineClark, Boulder, Colorado 06/12/2017

As Best Western Rewards Member: Room not only filthy, bed soggy, when complained was met with excuses and justifications. Have to pay for parking. My $110 (for being a rewards member) room added up to $156 in charges?! I travel here every month and will never stay here again.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Sorry Ms. Clark for the issues experienced. As we explained many times to you, the rate you received is the lowest anywhere available at the time to help the the evacuees of the fire, we found no "filth" as you indicated as do 99% of our previous guests indicated by our reviews and our parking fee of $5.00, the lowest for any beachfront hotel in Santa Barbara remains as such. The $156.00 you claim to have been charged as you have seen already was not the case. We continue to wish you the best during these difficult times pertaining to the 'Fires" and hope you are well. Be safe wherever you are!! HJRobbins - GM and my staff

"nice, but expensive"

bambilinasue, New York City, New York 30/11/2017

We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms, which was quite nice, but the overall hotel has a very motel-like feel to it. The lobby looks cheap, the breakfast room and buffet look cheap, and that would be fine if the price were equally cheap - but we paid a good deal of money (for an additional $50/night, we could have stayed at a much higher end place). The location is very convenient, the hotel is very clean, and the staff is lovely. And again, our room was new and fresh and well decorated - it was just too expensive for what it is.

"Gus at front desk provided superior service"

joannecoker1234, London, Canada 26/11/2017

This is the first time I've ever given a review on Trip Advisor but was compelled to do so because of Gus. This was our first time in Santa Barbara and immediately Gus welcomed us to town and gave us an good overview of the hotel property and area. At one point there was a small issue with our room - Gus quickly remedied this and went to great lengths to make sure we were satisfied with the resolution. I should also mention that all of our interactions with your staff were very positive. Everyone was friendly and professional and made our stay overall very pleasant. My experience would say that good service starts at the top- assuming that Management treat the staff well and that in turn staff pass along the the Good Will to the customers. Kudos to all- esp Gus!

"Romantic getaway"

479teresea, Tehachapi, California 26/11/2017

Tried booking other hotel but no vacancies. So glad we stayed here, excellent location, friendly staff, easy check in. Room was very clean and view was fantastic. We will definitely recommend and stay here again.

"Exploring Santa Barbara"

annabB3346HR, Montreal, Canada 25/11/2017

Beautiful hotel near harbour and Ocean. Walking distance. Most helpful, friendly staff. Very knowledgeable about things to do in area. Breakfast is very good. Very safe and clean. Must give extra kudos to Christopher at breakfast. He made our days start off in a happy relaxed manner. All staff are welcoming and attentive. Great job.

"Best location and gluten free muffins r breakfast"

Toni I, South Pasadena, California 24/11/2017

We stayed here Thanksgiving day. The staff was more than friendly and polite...great people skills. The newly remodeled room looked like an ad for Living Spaces...really nice(nothing like a hotel room). The location is great for walking to State Street and Stearns Wharf. The property is very quiet. The breakfast buffet is complete...eggs, sausage, fruit, breads and gluten free bread or muffins if you ask. The breakfast room is large and well decorated. The tv screens had nature and soft music news. This was a totally wonderful experience.

"Amazing location and service!!!"

Mary A, Carson City, Nevada 21/11/2017

By FAR, the BEST service I've had at a moderately priced hotel EVER. The price was great, although we were able to use our Best Western points for a free room, so even better. But even for the rate it was listed at, which was somewhere around $135 + tax, this would have been a STEAL! Location was amazing, right on Cabrillo Street overlooking the Harbor. Easily walkable to everything at the harbor, the beach and state street. You could rent bikes close to there and ride all day. The room was nicely upgraded with a balcony overlooking the harbor. They had enough towels in the room, which was shocking. We usually have to ask for at least one more. Bathroom amenities were very nice. The best thing about this place was the service though. Upon checking in we were greeted and checked in by a VERY nice young man. He was super helpful and knowledgeable regarding the property and surrounding area. We were assisted later by two female employees who were equally friendly. On the day we checked out, while eating breakfast, which was great (also free), a very nice young man working the buffet took the time to check on us and even signed "Hello" and his name to my aunt and uncle who are deaf. Chris, you have no idea how much this meant to them and to me! You are all WONDERFUL employees and made a short trip that much more enjoyable. We'll be back and as a travel agent, I will now send ALL of my clients to your hotel!

"Loved the new rooms"

Sarah C, Thousadn Oaks, United States 12/11/2017

Wonderful stay at a great location. Enjoyed breakfast, being close to the beach and surprisly quiet being on the corner. The staff did a great job and the room was clean and comfortable! Great job on the additions!

"Great Location & Awesome Staff!!"

189meenakshij, Southfield, Michigan 10/11/2017

Two best parts about staying here were: (a) Great location, one can walk to the beaches and state street in minutes. (b) The staff< everyone that we interacted with at this hotel be it the kitchen staff or front desk...they were very warm and friendly.

"Excellent location/ Pleasant Staff -- Needs A Major Renovation"

Ashleigh H, Orinda, California 06/11/2017

This is our go to hotel when we visit our son at SBCC..... It is in an excellent location and the staff is very welcoming. However, this is not where we'd stay if we were looking for a romantic getaway. Hotel is in need of a major renovation...... I do know one wing of the hotel is having rooms remodeled. We stayed in the Parkside wing for a 2nd time. Those rooms are musty smelling and carpets soiled. Staff is very welcoming and the breakfast provided is okay. Cookies in the lobby (afternoons) are a yummy bonus.

"Great view "

User 04/11/2017

We had a spacy room with balcony. Large room, friendly and helpful staff. Great view on the harbor. Continental breakfast available. Free Wi-Fi and plenty of parking space. Beside the fact you go outdoor to the room and lobby everything was perfect.

"Wonderful location"

User 03/11/2017

Location just perfect, room clean and price bareable. The breakfast is good by American standard, mediocre by (north) European standard. Our room was just renovated, the balcony solution was bit odd, 2 meter high concrete walls all around. We stayed 4 nights and I might consider visiting again which I usually never do. Parking very easy and spacious.

"Stop over"

June B, Wallkill 01/11/2017

My husband & I stopped here on our way up the coast, we got a room with a balcony that looked out at the water. The room is clean, the bed is comfy. I would definitely recommend this hotel & we will stay again if we're back in California

"a real treasure"

Lovers56, San Jose, California 27/10/2017

We knew nothing about this hotel but just needed a place to stay on our trip to San Diego. The location was fantastic - across the street from the harbor, a little walk to some perfect restaurants and it even had a lovely park across the street too. On arrival the parking was easy and the greeting inside was warm and cordial. The rooms were newly redone perfectly. Ours was small but very clean, simply stylish, well organized and very functional. The breakfast was wonderful and served in a newly remodeled dining area. We met the manager just after breakfast who was clearly interested in his endeavor. He was just a great guy with a good sense about what he wanted to do with this property. We would absolutely stay there again.

"Great location"

User 27/10/2017

Near Ocean with good views. The staff is very very very customer conscious. They have good people working at this hotel. This location is great for Santa Barbara, it is just North of the Harbor and West of the main Santa Barbara pier (Beach faces South). Its NOT "upper end", but for the price in Santa Barbara, its a niece place to vacation, or take the family, or visit someone in the area. For Hotels its expensive, just like everything that has to do with property in this area.

"Great location, wonderful hospitality!"

X1783QEmichaelm, Malibu, United States 23/10/2017

It was a real pleasure to stay at the Beachside Inn. Great location, wonderful staff from the General Manager on down. The check-in process was great, they were able to offer an upgrade to an ocean view, balcony room! The breakfast was very good and the attendant in the dining room was especially helpful. It was an overall wonderful experience.

"Great new rooms added"

FC96, Sydney, Australia 22/10/2017

We were lucky enough to get upgraded to one of the hotel's new rooms. They are tastefully fitted out with all you could need. They are quiet and have a huge amount of space. The breakfast was fantastic and the staff could. Not have done more for us. Loved this hotel. Great location and heaps of amenities.

"Average "

DTen, Vail, Colorado 21/10/2017

There was nothing quiet or relaxing about this hotel! Not sure Best Western aims for those qualities but that is what I took away from my weekend stay of 3 nights. On intersection of two noisy roads. No soundproofing in rooms. Can hear other rooms. Housekeeping vacuuming all day. Maintenence steam cleaning corridor most of Saturday, painting pool fence majority of Sunday. I have a knee problem and walking to attractions/restaurants was just a bit too far from here for me. Looked closer on map. We used Lyft and it was very convenient but I do like to walk and would have paid more to be closer. Staff very friendly. Room clean. Breakfast convenient. Beds nice but they did change the sheets when we did not request it and was totally unnecessary. Also our room looked out on a park that was only used by the homeless. Not that it was a bad thing but it was sad for us. I'd never been to Santa Barbara and so I relied on reviews to decide on hotel choice. We had a great time but I would not stay here again.

"Better than expected. loved the extra touches"

210heidia, sonoma, United States 20/10/2017

Great hotel in a great area. they do a superb breakfast and renovated lounge and rooms make it worth the money. the rooms are clean and nice décor. SB is expensive and we have stayed at several hotels on the beach and this is the best value so far. you can walk to pier and all conveniences and SBCC. loved it.

"Terrific Location. Great Staff"

Loren N, Mission Viejo, California 19/10/2017

First thing, tell Harvey, the General Manager, I said hello. Staff was great; makes sure your stay if what you wanted. Free breakfast, with service! Excellent room with view of harbor. Totally remodeling in next six months so the property will be even better.

"Good location for sightseeing."

sueknirk, Brea, California 19/10/2017

The hotel location is great for sightseeing. You can walk or catch a trolley to shopping and restaurants and beach. The hotel rooms are outdated but they are in process of being updated. There is a pool area that is shady most of the time.

"Santa Barbara"

362bradleys, Idaho Falls, United States 16/10/2017

If you want a romantic get away with your loved one, this is the place to go. I used my Hotel Points for this stay and it was wonderful. I plan on doing this vacation again next year with my wife. Best Western Beachside Inn had great staff, the room was clean, shower was large and the bed was great.

"Small room and they charged for parking"

meehrdadk, Westlake vilage, United States 11/10/2017

Room smelled and A/C didn't work right. Shower didn't work right and was difficult to operate And they charged for parking!!! This was the first time I have ever paid for parking at a hotel. They did' even explain the charge to us but the charge showed up on my bill. They also didn't let us stay till 1. Breakfast was ok. Staff was ok I have stayed at many hotels in Santa Barbara. This was by far the worst and most expensive.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hello Meehrdadk, Well, I'm not sure what to say because as you can see from virtually all of our other reviews, things work out quite well for most of our guests consistently. As for parking, ours is the least expensive of any waterfront hotel in Santa Barbara at just $5.00 and as for the price, the same is said since we are a much older building in the midst of numerous fantastic upgrades, I keep our prices at the very low end of the waterfront spectrum so no one feels gouged. I can just say that we are all so sorry that you were so "underwhelmed" with your experience here at the Beachside Inn. HJRobbins - GM

"No sleep two out of 3 nights. No room service 1 night"

Mark M, Sterling, Alaska 09/10/2017

Nice location on hotel. Staff are friendly but have to interest to address issues or follow up. Noise was ridiculous for 2 nights out of 3 and no room service one day. Good breakfast and friendly staff. No suggested remedy when I checked out and not a hint the issues would be fixed in the future. No apparent security at night

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Mark, Sorry the bachelorette party disturbed you when they returned to the hotel. No event was here at the hotel (not permitted), but the ladies were out on the town all weekend. Our weekend security was here and did his very best to keep the temporary sounds to a minimum. Our apologies that is was a bit much for you. HJRobbins - GM

User 08/10/2017

Brilliant location facing the gorgeous beach. Addition of breakfast was a bonus. The staff are all quite young but very helpful, friendly and efficient. This hotel is definitely well worth a visit when your in Santa Barbara

Michele M, San Leandro, California 06/10/2017

Room was very good. It was clean and well appointed. We had some issue with the park next door, bright and noisy all night. Lots of homeless in the area. Bright lights in the balcony all night. The young lady attending the breakfast was bright, friendly and efficient.

"Good location"

nandgNL, Amsterdam, The Netherlands 29/09/2017

Excellent location on the front, easy walking distance to the pier. The trolley bus passes the door. Room was large, bit dated but there are plans to renew. Super friendly reception staff. Excellent breakfast. Reasonable price in comparison with other places. Have to pay for parking. Fresh cookies in the reception everyday.

"Poor Customer Service & ANTS issues in the room"

User 25/09/2017

My husband and I made a reservation at Best Western Beachside Inn at Santa Barbara in Aug 2017, a month ahead of our trip. We planned to celebrate our wedding anniversary here in September. When we checked in the hotel on September 22, Friday, I realized that the room (Room #103) they assigned us was very weird in design and configuration. The door is not facing the hallway like any other room, instead, is opened from a very short passage in the wall. The window is built next to a staircase wall. The entire room is wrapped by walls. It is like a cell instead of a hotel room, let alone view. I booked a room with pool access online. This room doesn't meet any of the requirements. I went to the front desk and expressed my opinion, and also emphasized that it was our wedding anniversary. I was told that the hotel was booked full. Front desk couldn't care less, and he told us there is nothing he could do, since the hotel was fully booked. I was sad, but accepted it, and went back to room. We took a shower, and at that time, I realized this room even has ANTS issues. There are some ants in the bath sink, on the walls and floors. I also saw a few in the living area. I called front desk again, and he came in and checked it. Initially he told us he could check us out and find another room for us. However when we packed our stuff and walked to front desk, he told us that since we booked our room via, he can only assign a technician to check the room, and give us $50 discount. If we decided to leave the hotel because of the ants, we would still need to pay for the night. I felt we were treated so unfairly. In the whole process, the front desk was being very indifferent, and couldn't care less. We ended up leaving the hotel with wet hair on a Friday (busy) night, and spending 1 hour standing in the wind to find another hotel for the night. This hotel doesn't worth the money at all. I was very disappointed.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Corshi, I'm sorry you were so disappointed by our "weirdly" configured room. Numerous guests of ours actually request it and call it "funky". After all, it is one of our least expensive so many enjoy it immensely. I apologize that it was not to your liking. If you recall, Gus did offer to call other hotels for you, you declined so sorry again you had to stand outside while our lobby was available to you. But thank you for letting us know about the ants, our exterminators did find an ant the next day. All the best, HJRobbins - GM

"Best Western Beachside Inn Santa Barbara"

marykeeley, San Diego 25/09/2017

Very nice hotel across the street from the beach and marina. We booked a room with a balcony which was a terrific idea! Lovely view and just the privacy we needed. Room was large and very clean. Bathroom well appointed, ample closet space with room for storage under the sink. Microwave, fridge--made our 4 night stay very pleasant. The hotel is on the route for the great little trolley that takes you back and forth either downtown to State street area or all the way down to the end of the line along the beach. Super easy and cheap way to get around. Would definitely stay again. GET THE BALCONY ROOM! So worth it!

"Nice location. Motel could be so much more...."

Rtwadv, Antarctic Peninsula 24/09/2017

It's a nice dated place that is currently under renovation. We enjoyed the location and it was an average Best Western hotel. I don't have any memory of the staff outlining that parking was a separate charge and had to call the hotel after our stay to understand the difference between our reservation and the final cost.

"Too much money for so little"

Phyllis G, Anna Maria Island, Florida 18/09/2017

Felt like a Motel 6 with a luxury price. Did not get the harbor view we asked for in advance and the balcony with bend plastic chairs overlooked a park full of sleeping drifters. Staff was very nice and breakfast great. Cheaply remodelled. Location is less than.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Phyllis, We're so sorry you were "underwhelmed" with your recent stay here. The Santa Barbara Waterfront can be a bit pricey sometimes and with that said, we consistently stay on the lower price point level just because of our slightly dated feel. The super news is, we are ready with our new rooms, new breakfast area, soon to be new lobby and then every room in the hotel is getting a complete makeover. The town is already buzzing after showing off some of our new rooms. I'm not sure what you had seen to indicate something was "cheaply remodeled" but it wasn't our new rooms. Please visit again when you can and I'm sure we will change your feelings to an "overwhelmed"...Promise!!! HJRobbins - GM

Nice hotel with new upgrades. I have stayed here many times and they are going a great job with the new rooms and breakfast area. It is right on the beach and close to restaurants and the pier. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help. This is a great value.

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room had an unobstructed view of the harbor and the beaches. The wharf and pier were only four blocks away. Down town Santa Barbara was a mile to two away. Very relaxing and enjoyable place to visit.

"Great location"

Convenient to everything I wanted to do in Santa Barbara plus an incredible view. The bed was very comfortable and the staff was helpful and friendly. A little pricey, but not more so than anything else in the area.

"Excellent Customer Service"

Fah S, New York City, New York 05/09/2017

My family – hubby, mother-in-law and 8 month old were in town for one night when a freak storm blew in. Someone called it a mini tornado or microblast. Needless to say, trees fell, debris was scattered on the road and flooding on some streets. When we arrived at the hotel, it was just calming down. A tree had fallen in their car park which was blocking cars from entering and leaving and there was a power outage! The two young gentleman at reception were checking people in the old style way (the computers were down). They used their initiative and were very professional and extremely patient. I think it was because of this, that none of the customers became aggravated. Hats off to the two guys that day, they really were terrific. Also, at breakfast, the ladies working that morning were very nice and courteous. The beds are on the softer side but the space is comfy.

"Great location, Basic rooms, Decent price. "

User 05/09/2017

While Santa Barbara is a fairly expensive area this hotel was very reasonably priced. The rooms are basic but ideal for an overnight stay. There's a small outdoor pool but the hotel is in short walking distance of the stunning beach and pier so didn't need to use it. Breakfast was good and included in the price. If you want to stay in Santa Barbara and not pay the earth this is a great choice .

"2-star hotel that charges 5-star prices"

K5290EPjeffm, SF Bay Area, United States 01/09/2017

Very unpleasant atmosphere with lots of repairs and cosmetic matters to be addressed. Charged us $351 for a single night and it was worth less than half that. The location is great but the rooms are not very clean, have an odor, are not quiet and the service is as basic as it gets.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hello Again Mr. Miller, Sorry again that our amazing little hotel is not up to par for your standards. As you can see from our other reviews, your feelings, valid of course, are not typical. Virtually all of our guests love our service and are excited to see the construction you mentioned. We are all well aware of the older nature of our hotel and our upgrade project has been a long time in the making and finally here. We are all so excited to share everything with our loyal guests Our brand new rooms, not used, yet but seen by many are the "talk of the town". And after a short dust settling period, we will be upgrading the existing rooms as well. As for the cost, in general, beachfront in Santa Barbara is costly, but confident my price remains of the lowest if not the lowest for a waterfront hotel. Maybe we can see you after the upgrades are finished, and have you write a follow-up review. A sort of before and after. I'm sure you will be quite impressed with our transformation. Enjoy the day! "Great location, spacious room and friendly staff"

User 31/08/2017

Stopped over for one night to explore Santa Barbara for the evening and morning before we left. We didn't mind the little walk into town, as we had the beach and buildings to look at. You pretty much get what you pay for, and I mean that in a positive way! A good nights sleep with a good breakfast. As said in the title, the staff were always friendly and also very welcoming. Just two points that has nothing to do with the hotel but: Our room was facing a park type place and as we arrived, there were a lot of people on the grass making noise. There was also one man shouting and swearing at another! Thankfully this didn't continue until late. Secondly, whilst my brother and I were walking downstairs towards the lobby, we encountered a man who was peeing in an outdoor bin. He seemed to follow us towards the lobby but I didn't look behind me, I could hear him swearing though! I should've informed the receptionist immediately, but was a little taken aback and let him know when we returned to the hotel a couple of hours later. The receptionist was shocked too and was apologetic, but I said not to be as it wasn't his fault at all! Overall, despite the mishap that was a little odd, I would stay here again and do recommend it based on the welcoming staff and very nice rooms!

"'Best' location - walking distance to all West Beach sights."

HIforlife, Huntington Beach, California 28/08/2017

We hit the 'American Riviera' every year to visit friends and have stayed here the past two trips. The rooms are nice sized and clean, a small but nice pool area, wonderful staff and a good breakfast served up daily in their newly enlarged and remodeled dining area - scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon & potatoes, along with basic 'grab & go' offerings. Located right across the street from the Harbor with many choices for lunch & dinner. Stearns Wharf is a short stroll for other restaurants and shops, as well as State Street for more of the same. They are building a new wing of rooms, so there was some construction noise right now during normal working hours, but that will be only temporary. All in all, a great value!

"Weekend retreat"

erictikeda, La Ampuyenta, Spain 27/08/2017

Very convenient walk to the beach, pier and many restaurants. Everyone on the staff have been wonderful. Most importantly the room is very clean! Only problem we had was the bathroom light and fan did never turned off (switch/sensor). Includes a hot breakfast, pretty standard, but the staff kept everything clean and frequently checked. We even were given espresso. Again a great staff!

"Great hotel"

searcher57, Fernandina Beach, Florida 26/08/2017

Excellent location.. Some rooms with balcony offering direct harbor and ocean view; Outstanding staff. Good breakfast. Easy access to views, facilities and restaurants at the harbor. Weekend rates are PRICY!

"A great stay!"

tonepoet3, California 25/08/2017

Have always had a great stay here in Santa Barbara. Friendly staff. On site parking. Pool side rooms. Harbor view rooms. Very nice breakfast in the morning. There are usually fresh baked cookies at the front desk.

"Very Average, didn't have our room type available"

Natalie R, Danville, California 14/08/2017

We really only booked this hotel because it was "waterfront" and had a 2 room suite option which gave us some flexibility with our 1 year old going to bed earlier than us. Needless to say when we walked into our regular 2 queen hotel room we were extremely disappointed. We called the front desk and apparently they had "oversold" that type of room, and they had nothing else to offer us. I would have booked another hotel had I known they wouldn't have that room type. POOR showing by Best Western. My reservation clearly states "Junior Suite, Separate Living Room." We were credited $50 for our 2 night stay, but that doesn't make up for the inconvenience. This hotel is NOT as close to State Street / beer district / restaurants as you would think and as it appears on the map. Yes, there is a "free" (aka pay $0.50) shuttle that sometimes decides to make an appearance outside the hotel, but mostly it just circles as far as State Street then you're stuck walking the extra quarter mile back to the hotel. Buyer beware; I would highly recommend booking Hotel Milo that takes up a good 1-2 waterfront blocks and is much more convenient. Overall very average. We weren't even told there was a free breakfast so missed out on 1 day of it. Housekeeping didn't come until 3pm one day, so we had to smell our baby's dirty diapers until then. The pool is very small. I found trash under our bed. They charged $5/day for parking and yet it didn't say that anywhere on our reservation... I don't know, even for the AAA rate plus the inconvenience discount I received I wouldn't book here again. Maybe a good bet just for passing through town on your own or as a couple. Normally these things wouldn't bother me to save a few dollars, but with a kid they were all dealbreakers.

"Best Western Santa Barbara"

U4801VNpaulr, Simi Valley, United States 12/08/2017

Nice old hotel in a great location near the harbor and a short walk from the pier, downtown Santa Barbara and a mile or so from the zoo. Surprisingly quiet given it's location on a busy road. Good value for the money.

"Best Western Beachside is a go"

User 12/08/2017

The hotel is very quaint and right across the street from the beach in Santa Barbara. It was clean, hotel staff was very helpful. We will definitely stay there again. For the location, the price was great.

"Very nice!"

User 09/08/2017

The room was very nice. We were on the 3rd floor facing the ocean. The view was okay. We could see the water off to the left but trees blocked the view directly in front of the room, but we didn't mind that. If you don't mind walking, the "funk zone" and State Street are just a couple of blocks away. Get to the funk zone early, because the tasting rooms close early. The pool was heated which was very nice for an evening swim. One thing to be noted, I was surprised at the amount of homeless people in the area, especially on State Street. But that isn't the hotel's fault. Although, I would be careful walking back to the hotel at night, especially if you're not in a group, since it is a little ways away. We had one homeless man follow us for a little while and it made us feel very uneasy. But, again, not the hotels fault. Just keep aware of your surroundings.

B6500AOamyw, Cerritos, United States 08/08/2017

Friendly staff, internet, free parking, great pillow, great bed, breakfast, fresh cookies, coffee, tea, pool with the right temperature, across the street from the beach, what else can I ask for? I wish they do give out a little bit specials so that way I can come more often?

"Excellent stay in a stunning location"

Duncan H, Skipton, United Kingdom 31/07/2017

This was a holiday long in The planning. We stayed here for 8 fantastic nights, never having visited California before. The location is perfect, between the wharf and the harbour. Our room was amazing with stunning views of the beach and boats and mountains. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and Harvey, the manager, was great suggesting places to see or eat. The trolley bus stops right outside so you can visit anywhere along the sea front (as far as the zoo) and downtown. The breakfast area was roomy (never had trouble finding somewhere to sit) and the options were tasty (including eggs, etc). I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough and I can't wait till I'm back on that balcony watching the pelicans and herons and ships in this little slice of paradise.

"Great location "

User 28/07/2017

Very basic for the money, but you are paying the the location. The staff are great and Christopher at breakfast is brilliant. Cleanest breakfast area I have ever seen! There are renovations going on but they did not impact on us at all. I would stay again.

"Great for a short stopover"

stewardj70, South Luffenham, United Kingdom 24/07/2017

We were initially unsure on arrival as the hotel looks a little like an upmarket motel, however the place grew on us and by the time we left after 2 nights we were really happy with our visit. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They are currently doing some renovations to improve the hotel further. The hotel manager was always around making sure that everything was being taken care of especially at the free breakfast. They were trying really hard to make sure everyone had what they wanted at breakfast and you could see the staff worked well as a team together. Nice to come back to the pool after walking round Santa Barbara (State Street - main shops and restaurants- just up the road). Good location on the waterfront. Worth a try if you want to be in a good location and in town for a short visit.

"Still major construction going on ..."

User 21/07/2017

As we booked there were no notice that the building is still under major construction. When I told the front desk he noted and went on. So basically he didn't care about my complain. We are in Santa Barbara for vacation and I would love to sleep in and not get woken up by construction work !! Furthermore the housekeeping is doing a great job to keep the rooms clean but the the rooms are just old and very used. The location is good. Very close to Stare Street and the beach. But beside that it was not worth the money and I already considered that Santa Barbara is an expensive place.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Maria, So sorry you never were informed of our minor construction. I'm unable to locate your booking with the details provided, so please get in touch and let me know the service used to book here. I have instructed the work crew that all major construction noise was to be eliminated as of the beginning of June. And it is. Occasionally a drill or hammer is used so you must have experienced that for which I apologize! I'm sorry as well that you felt my staff didn't care, however as you can see from most of our reviews, we do an outstanding job with our guests. Please give us a chance and come enjoy our beautiful new harbor side breakfast area that is completely done!! I'm sure you will have a peaceful experience. HJRobbins - GM

"Very good hotel in convenient location"

Jeff S, San Diego, California 20/07/2017

I stayed here with a group of friends. My room was a good size, clean and fully-functioning. The staff were extremely good - friendly, helpful and excellent service. Free wifi and breakfast -- and what is more the breakfast was actually worth eating -- good variety of hot and cold buffet choice. It's an easy walk to the bars and restaurants on State Street and just 0.5 miles to the railroad station. It's even closer to the beach which is just across the street. Bed was comfortable and room was quiet.

"Convenience and Service"

rlwlawrisk, San Francisco, California 17/07/2017

Very good hotel with excellent service. The hotel is adjacent to Santa Barbara Beach and within walking distance of the Santa Barbara Boardwalk. The shuttle across the road takes you to the Boardwalk and to businesses along State Street.

"Amazing Staff"

businesstraveler683, Fallbrook, California 16/07/2017

The hotel is old but is currently going through major renovations. Location is great...near the beach, shops, restaurants, etc. The pool was clean and appeared to be well maintained and the staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The breakfast buffet, included with the room, had a nice array of choices and the staff were continually bringing out fresh items. There was plenty of on-site parking.

"Great Location and Spotless"

sherris857, Lewisville, United States 13/07/2017

This hotel was in a great location. Walking distance to the pier. Right across from the beach. The hotel was spotless. They were renovating and updating while we were there, so it will be even better. There was a small but fun pool that was full of rubber duckies and small beach balls. My kids had as much fun here as they did the beach. Thank you for helping make our vacation enjoyable!

"Solstice Weekend Stay"

Jessica S, Los Angeles, California 12/07/2017

Booked the Beachside Inn as a great way to be close to both the water and State Street for a weekend girls trip. Little did we know that the Solstice celebration and parade would fall on the same Saturday. Turned out to be a fun time but would have been nice to know from the hotel staff when first booking. We got a park-side room. Nice small balcony, quiet street, but giant power lines cutting right through your view. Also, since this is a beachside hotel, prepare for the room to smell of moist salt air and a slightly damp feeling to the carpet. Overall, you are paying to be close to the beach and the hotel was clean and well-managed, but pretty poor quality for the overall price.

"Great place overall"

David R, South Pasadena, United States 10/07/2017

This is a great little find, right on the beach, comfortable renovated rooms that are clean and simple, daytime snacks and coffee/water/tea all day, nice hot breakfast in the morning. Truly a good value!

"Quick Trip to Santa Barbara"

irenebQ8670IN, Simi Valley, United States 10/07/2017

Wanted to go to Santa Barbara and chose BW as hotel due to convenience and location to beach. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Would most definitely stay here again. Hopefully the construction will be complete and maybe they will add a Jacuzzi to future renovations.

"Great locación for your $$$"

930dimitriosk, Las Vegas 09/07/2017

Excellent service, great location, elevator, A.C., large breakfast area, comfortable room. Close to beach area with facilities, restaurant and parking. Friendly and helpful staff...across from playground great for families with children.

"Great View!"

User 06/07/2017

We had an upper room with a balcony and view of the beach and Stearn's Wharf. The room was very quiet despite the road being directly below. Friendly staff at both check in and check out. While the hotel is undergoing some renovation, it did not interfere with our stay or inconvenience us in any way. We love coming to Santa Barbara and will plan to stay here on our next visit.

theresad810, Burbank, California 03/07/2017

Great location! Room was clean and comfortable. Pool area was nice. Breakfast the next morning he was very good, convenient and tasty. Service was prompt and caring overall. The proximity of the hotel to the beach and other attractions and restaurants was perfect. Will definitely stay here again and recommend to all my friends.

User 30/06/2017

located at the end of the beach area, it is a nice budget hotel, but you need to uber if you want to be on State quickly, otherwise it is a 30 minute walk. Rooms are clean. Pool is nice. I would go back.

User 30/06/2017

Very comfortable and clean, price was extremely reasonable and the staff was very accommodating. A little too close to the restaurant and can hear the clean up they do at night but not so bad. Parking lot security can be a little tighter with people walking in and around it at night. Overall I had a great stay .

"Best espresso ever"

User 29/06/2017

Soooo friendly staff and they made the best espressos ever (+++ for Wendy) and had both gluten and lactosefree options for breakfast! The location is good, not to far from downtown and ~100 from la playaa! We were supposed to stay one night but ended up staying four nights, think that says it all!!

"Near the beach, clean, but long walk to the mall area and board walk"

Jeffrey H, Taipei, Taiwan 27/06/2017

We liked this hotel, they had good parking, helpful staff and good wifi. The hotel sits at one side of the beach road, near a park, and it is a good 25 minute walk to the warf or mall in town. We would have preferred a hotel closer. Given that, the hotel was great and we had not complaints.

"NIce Place"

User 27/06/2017

Nice place near the harbor. The sofa was way too low. The light in the closet was on a motion sensor. Great going to the bathroom but seems to stay on too long. The breakfast was good, but the area was limited.

"Quick getaway"

Angie M, Las Vegas, Nevada 26/06/2017

Hotel staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Only con was the rooms were older, carpets need shampoo and bathroom tub needed work. Great Location hotel was literally steps from the beach and harbor.

"Love the location"

Don R, Kirkland, United States 26/06/2017

We have stayed at this location before and love that it is right across from the harbor and just a short walk away from Sterns Harbor. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The property is showing some signs of age, and they are currently in the midst of some remodeling (really need expanded breakfast room area). It is a little pricey for the appearance of the hotel and guest room amenities, but the location can't be beat.

"Right Place, Right Time"

PMDGlasgow, Glasgow 21/06/2017

We overnighted here on our way north from LA and it proved a good place for a break, being right on the sea front (although at the far end of the beach) and in a quiet location. There was building work going on to extend the premises, though this caused no real disturbance or inconvenience and will enhance the facilities once completed. Our room was comfortable and clean, but had so little storage capacity that we hardly unpacked. The hot breakfast was welcome and offered decent choices - which was just as well since it is a long walk to the nearest alternative. Our room overlooked the superclean pool, and the sun loungers seemed to be well used; the parking lot was a good size and the staff that we encountered were helpful and attentive. We enjoyed a visit into the lively town centre so much that we stopped in for lunch on our return journey to LA!

"Great location and value"

Z2741WYtomr, Corona, California 20/06/2017

This hotel has always been a great place for us , harbor view , nice complimentary bfast , walking distance to pier and state street ..... hotel construction is a little inconvenient but doesn't effect things too much !!!!

"A little vintage, little loud"

clscorz, Greenville, South Carolina 20/06/2017

The rooms are clean, and it's a little vintage. We were on the Harbor side, so could be noisy. But surprisingly not, the slider was great at keeping the street noise out. But room noise was another issue, you could hear people sneeze, cough, talk, walk, etc. Our ceiling fan didn't work, found that out at 2am..:/ Toilet us crazy loud, well as the bathroom fan. Might stay here again..

"Good stay"

Nice little hotel right overlooking the harbour of Santa Barbara. Room was spacious & convenient, but nothing special. Checking in & out went really fast and the guys at reception were super friendly. I shall be back!

"Stay at Best Western Santa Barbara"

philanak2017, Altadena, United States 12/06/2017

It was a nice hotel. Average price for the area which in my opinion is too high. The rooms were nice but the air conditioner did not work very well. My husband said it felt like he was in a steam room all night.

"OK if you must go to Santa Barbara"

littledarlinseattle, Snohomish, Washington 06/06/2017

First let me say that Santa Barbara is really expensive. We stopped here for one night as part of our road trip down the pch. If I had to do it over again I would just stop to see the mission and spend the night elsewhere. The Best Western Beachside was the most economical choice I could find in Santa Barbara. I chose the least expensive room category and still paid over $300/ night. The room was tiny and dark with one window that looked out at the walkway. The furniture was fine and the room was clean. All of the finishing s are updated and modern. If you choose this room category the elevator does not take you to your room level. You have to go down 4 stairs to get to the walkway outside your room. This is difficult with luggage. The breakfast was standard hotel continental breakfast but the breakfast room is small with not enough tables. Several people were trying to stand by the tables to eat and that made it even more difficult to get around. If you do choose to stay in Santa Barbara, this is a good value. I would spring for a larger room though. The location is pretty good and you can easily walk to restaurants.

"Beautiful view!"

187travism, Simi Valley, California 04/06/2017

Our room was clean, the staff was friendly, our view was GORGEOUS, and the hotel is close to everything! It was so convenient to be right on the beach, and in the mix of shopping and fun. Noise did not break through window sound barrier, so sleeping was no problem. The heated pool was nice for a relaxing dip after a long day of fun. We will be back SOON!

"Great hotel close to wharf, pier, wineries, fun!"

Kathy S, Santa Clarita 01/06/2017

Great hotel located across the street from the beach. Easy walking distance to restaurants, wharf, pier and wine walk. Also close to trolleys to see more of what Santa Barbara has to offer such as shopping, the old Mission, Courthouse or whatever else you'd like to see while visiting this beautiful town. Perfect for a one day or one week getaway! the staff was friendly, the room with balcony was clean, quiet and comfortable, The hotel is undergoing a remodel but we didn't hear any noise during our stay!

"Very friendly and accommodating"

gish0503, Fresno, California 29/05/2017

This was the best deal in town price wise. The room was great, and they upgraded us since we belong to the Best Western club. We had a large room, with king bed, with balcony overlooking the park. The road runs right under, but very quiet room. You can see the docks from the room and a small ocean view. We had just come from a two day diving trip and loved we could spread out all of our equipment to get organized. We will be staying here again!! Hot breakfast in the morning very good, which is included.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review

"Not fancy but clean and adequate. "

User 25/05/2017

Situated across the street from the marina and Stearn's wharf area. There is a small beach for activities. The hotel is 3 stories and does have an elevator. It was very clean. An older facility but the room had a small refrigerator and microwave. There was free parking onsite. Staff were courteous.

"A Work in Progress in A Great Location"

bsimosd, San Diego, California 24/05/2017

We selected a room with a balcony overlooking the bay and boat harbor. The view was fantastic, and the soundproof sliding doors kept the considerable noise on Cabrillo Blvd. below us to a minimum. Also, the location we thought was nice, since it was away from the hustle and bustle of State Street and the Wharf, and near the Breakwater and Boat Harbor where there were nice restaurants and stores. My wife swam at the huge public swimming pool across the street. It was strange that, initially, our HVAC was controlled by the front desk: to turn it on or off, or to change temperatures, you had to call the front desk. Then, magically, on the second day we were able to control the thermostat! Things in our room which still needed upgrading included: old closet doors; a well used and creaky front door; and a toilet which seemed like it was six inches off the ground (not good for baby boomers with bad knees).

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Guys, Thanks for all you kind words and comments. "Overpriced, But Well Located"

elizabethgP8583OM, United States 23/05/2017

Staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and courteous. Incredible service on their part. The hotel room was way overpriced and very simple for what you pay. There is no ocean view (even though it's on the beach) and the amenities are lacking (no jacuzzi) and the furniture and decor are bland and basic.Great location though.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Elizabeth, Thanks for your kind words!! And don't forget for your return trip, we will have a new and updated hotel in the very near future with a lot more to come over the next year. "A Night in Santa Barbara"

User 22/05/2017

The hotel was a little pricey for what you get. A small pool, no hot tub. A broken lamp in the room. But the cable selection was excellent, AC and water were strong, and the location is amazing. Though pricey, it was the most reasonable one I could find in Santa Barbara.

"Best Western name is Solid"

cobilly, Drumheller, Canada 21/05/2017

For value, location, and convenience we have found Best Westerns suit our needs well. There was a bit of racket out of a neighboring room, but not to the point that we had to raise a fuss. The beds were comfy, clean and so was the bathroom. There was some updating going on, and the continental breakfast was OK. Parking was handy, and the beach is right across the street. It's a little ways from State Street, but there are trollers running, so that is an option if you don't want to drive, however there is lots of parking uptown.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review

"Great location and considerate staff"

Grant R, San Francisco, California 17/05/2017

Good location just across from the beach and accessible to downtown shops and restaurants as well as beach walks and harbor boat or kayak rentals. Friendly and considerate staff. Good breakfast. A bit pricey in prime summer travel times, but so are the others. We've stayed here before in winter, spring and summer months.

Hi Grant, Thanks for visiting again and your feedback! Absolutely right...the prices are going up as summer approaches, I guess I should be happy we stay on the lower end of the pricing for all the waterfront hotels. We love this hotel in SB. Great location- walk to the pier, sunrise stroll on East Beach. Rooms are large, not high end but well done and comfortable. Parking was free for years and now $5 / night. Still great for SB. Easy drive up the hill to the Mesa- and my favorite beach, Hendry's. Easy drive to State Street and lots of restaurants walking distance.

"Location, Comfort, and Delicious Breakfast"

Alyssa A, Ottawa, Canada 15/05/2017

Great location just across from the beach, walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. Friendly staff. The room with two queen beds was a good size for four people and the beds were comfortable. Our favourite part was the continental breakfast in the morning, we found that for an inn it was above average and had a huge variety! Food was fresh and we left very full. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Hi Alyssa, Thanks for the kind words and glad you enjoyed breakfast. The staff there does a great job with all that hot food as well. See you soon! HJRobbins - GM

"Best Western"

susanrC1950PF, Rancho Santa Margarita, California 11/05/2017

Decent place but disappointed in a few things. Our room faced a busy street. When I called and asked for a different room I was told that all of the types of rooms that I needed faced the street. Also, the men in the room next door to us were screaming at each other and starting physically fighting outside of our door when the staff did nothing about it after I notified them.

"Top Staff Team"

FrankJ123, Whitchurch, United Kingdom 10/05/2017

This Hotel has to have one of the best staff teams I have ever come across, always smiling and friendly they deserve a special mention. Great location for the town, beach etc. Well serviced rooms, and a great breakfast, it does seem unfair to even mention it, but why charge guests 5 dollars a night to park, it just seems petty when they have a really really large Car Park. One really nice touch "cookies" on the counter each night, made up for the Car Park fee !!!

"Nice location"

User 01/05/2017

Good location across the beach. Breakfast is good and the staff are friendly. The beachside Inn is walking distance to the Harbour, Downtown and the beach. The hotel provides bottled water and snacks as well.

"Needs a lot of improvement"

Paper thin walls with connecting rooms. Bed & pillows we're very uncomfortable. I also requested beach side view months in advanced and did not get what u requested. Toilet was broken, had ro fiddle with the handle everytime.

"Short visit"

joannecP5721FO, Sonoma Valley, California 23/04/2017

We visited Santa Barbara over weekend for college trip. Have stayed at a Best Western many times in different areas. This particular Best Western was aesthetically not pleasing - room decor, cramped etc. the room seemed dirty as well. Chairs had stains. Towels did not look freshly cleaned white. Eating area in lobby did not look clean - windows looking out to beach. To make matters worse the sound level was horrible in the room. Up all night due to walking and thumping sounds in room above! Did not sleep all night. I shared with front desk but person at the counter did not offer anything to accommodate. Will not stay here again.

"Best value, great location."

D1004TYmichaels, Chicago, Illinois 23/04/2017

My som and I stayed here for college visits. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, smart amenities available in the lobby, and a perfect location - short walk to beach, wharf, and downtown shops and restaurants. Will definitely stay here again!

BeachsideGM, Manager at Best Western Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Dear guest, Our location is one of the best, and our staff is even better! I am so happy to hear that you and your son enjoyed your stay with us. Congratulations on your future college student! I wish you both the best of luck and if he decides to come to Santa Barbara, you know where to stay!

"Good value for the location"

sausco, Las Vegas, Nevada 20/04/2017

Located right between the Santa Barbara Pier and Sterns Wharf. Lots of shops and restaurants to walk to. Hotel has recently updated its decor and furnishings to a much higher quality. Only negative is they have started charging a $5/night parking fee. About the only hotel in the area that I can get into for my company's approved travel rate.

georgesQ9717ID, Gaylord, Minnesota 14/04/2017

Hotel, movies, boat rides and etc Awesome walked to the old harbour restaurant and had fish and chips with A long island ice tea plus a shot vodak. This is the best location it across the street from a beautiful park and there is a Gas Station and 7eleven in a 2 block walking distance. Great Mexican food, Sushi and hibachi restaurant and Metro 4 movie theater. I also went to a Gentlemen's Club called Spearmint Rhino the ladies where beautiful. I had a good time :-)

"Staff excellent!!!!"

Sandy2904, Cameron Park, California 12/04/2017

I called the day before and asked for an early check in . They made every effort to accommodate our request. They also gave us a very nice room recognizing that we were Rewards members . Another plus they use real coffee mugs & glasses.

"One of the BEST Hotel Experiences! "

jennyvail22, Vail, Colorado 10/04/2017

This was our first trip to Santa Barbara and we were greeted with the warmest welcome by the general manager Harvey! He and all of his team absolutely made us feel like we were royalty and beyond special! He booked our beautiful dinner reservations right next-door at the beautiful restaurant called Toma, that's amazing menu and staff at that restaurant! Harvey and his staff are five-star five diamond all the way some of the friendliest people I've ever met, great recommendations for our long weekend in Santa Barbara this was our first days off together in three months and he made sure our stay was nothing but tremendous! They exceeded every single expectation I ever had and did not know I had! Location of this quaint hotel is absolutely superb right in the heart of Santa Barbara beautiful walking trails right in front of the marina absolutely divine property! I look forward to returning to this property and making this an annual trip due to the extraordinary customer service experience and overall satisfaction that we had, I highly highly highly recommend this hotel to everybody! we live in Vail Colorado and actually work in the ski and hospitality industry I have to say that this hotel is just as customer service focused as a five-star five diamond property!!!!!Thank you to Harvey and his team it was extraordinary!!!!!!

"It Does The Job For One Night With Kids"

thejoyciecat, Santa Cruz, California 08/04/2017

My husband and I were reminiscing how when we were kids, when we went on road trips in the station wagon, we would always stop at motels like Days Inn, Quality Inn, Super 8... Now that we have our own kids, we realized that they've never had that experience. So we thought we'd keep them humble and stay at the Best Western Beachside Inn during our stopover in Santa Barbara. Let me tell you, it certainly does the job for one night! It felt like the good ol' days of when I was a kid... seriously, because the room and bathroom (although clean) look like it's from that era. The armchair in our room was shabby (without the chic). We didn't hang out in the room though, the hotel's location is excellent for going outside, it's across the street from the harbor/beach/short walk to the wharf. We liked that the lobby had coffee and hot chocolate and the free continental breakfast was an excellent perk. The fellow who was working the breakfast area was super helpful and hard-working - he noticed my son didn't like the eggs with chives, so he made my son some eggs without them. Very impressed. I wish I caught his name. Other things we liked but didn't use were our room's balcony which overlooked the nice park on Castillo Street and the swimming pool. The hotel gets an A for effort, you can tell they are really trying - the lounge chairs by the pool always had folded towels draped along the back, there are large potted plants in the halls to make the hallways look less dreary, and the hand towels in the bathroom were folded into fans... little stuff like that, I notice. Our only main complaint (that the kids are making me include in this review) was that the remote control to the television didn't work. We called the front desk who said they'd send someone to check on it in 10 minutes... about half an hour later, we couldn't wait any longer and went out to dinner. Alas, we never got to watch TV. Maybe that's a good thing, but still, would have been nice to have a working remote. If you are looking for a fancy resort, you can walk down Cabrillo Blvd - those hotels looked a lot nicer. However, if you are just going to stay the night, you don't want to spend a fortune, and you want something basic and clean with free breakfast, then the Best Western does the job.

"Great location"

Carolyn R, Lafayette, California 06/04/2017

My husband and I stayed one night at this motel and found it entirely satisfactory: well located right on the beach and only a few minutes' walk to Stearns Wharf. We arrived ahead of check-in and the desk personnel were very cooperative in finding us a room quickly. The room was clean and well-appointed, pool area pleasant. A good choice.

"Remodel annoying"

Patricia M, Bakersfield, California 05/04/2017

Have stayed here before. This time limited parking due to remodel creating noise and dust. Handrail on balcony was filthy. Electrical in bathroom forced us to run an annoying fan in order to have light. Location is great

"Sub par quality and poor hospitality"

User 30/03/2017

Our room was not ready upon our 3:00 arrival (check in time). We traveled from out of town and because I spoke with someone at the front desk earlier in the day and had specifically asked what time check in was, I planned our travels accordingly. It was disappointing and inconvenient to find that we had to wait until the staff returned from break to begin cleaning our room. The gentleman who checked us in around 4:00 gave us no instructions on finding the room or how to access the room. After searching around the back of the building, we found that the steps closest to our room were being painted so we had to carry all of our luggage the long way around. Check in time on a Saturday seems like an inappropriate time to do maintenance that will shut down access to the second floor. The location of the room itself was great, we really enjoyed the balcony and the view of the park. We also appreciate that the hotel offers air conditioning. We found hair in the bath tub and the floors were not vacuumed. By this time, we were just glad to be in our room because we had early dinner reservations downtown. While we were getting ready, one of the housekeepers walked into our room. No knock, no announcement, she just used a key and walked in. When she saw us, she said nothing but turned around and ran out. (I know this was an honest mistake but it added to our growing unpleasant experience and made my mother feel unsafe.) When we went to check out in the morning, the front desk clerk robotically asked us how our stay was. My mother and I looked at each other and decided not to relive our dissatisfaction. Then she pushed a slip of paper across the desk and asked me to sign. I was very surprised to find that my credit card- which I had authorized for a pre-auth only, had been charged for the full amount of the room. When I told her that I had wanted to pay cash, she seemed inconvenienced and told me that it would take three days for the refund to post to my card. As a matter of fact, this was inconvenient for me. I told her that the man who checked us in the day before said that he was running a pre authorization for $25, to which I agreed. I then told her that it would be helpful if they had been upfront about posting the full amount to the card. At that time, the other woman at the desk jumped in and informed us that this was a standard practice in all hotels. It truly is not. I restated to both of them that they should have been more communicative about this the day before to which she responded, "Yeah, we get it." We left it at that. I found the quality of service and of the room to be worth far below the price we paid. What we received is unacceptable at any level of hospitality. We came to Santa Barbara to celebrate my Mother's birthday. Our experience with this hotel was very disappointing.

"rude staff and not truthful"

ZLI, Powell River, Canada 27/11/2016

we are Best Western Rewards members and try to use Best Western when travelling. Usually they are at least pleasant and provide fair service. After checking the website for this hotel and learning they had pet friendly rooms, and vacancies, we decided to stay here while in Santa Barbara. when we drove up to the lobby, exhausted after an all day drive, the first thing we were told, very rudely, was to move our car. Apparently it isn't permitted to park your car while you check inn. The officiuos you woman told us the police parked there. Why the police would need a parking spot in front of the lobby wasn't explained but it didn't sound encouraging. My husband expressed annoyance at being subject to this treatment before we had even checked in. then we tried to check in and were told the hotel wasn't dog friendly! this in spite of the fact the web site advertised dog friendly rooms. We weren't travelling with a pair of wolves. Just a pair of well behaved poodles. We are a respectable older couple who were rudely turned away from this hotel by an untruthful and rude front desk employee. we are glad, because we ended up staying at a much nicer place for the same price. If you are travelling with a car or a pet, steer clear of this place. What little we saw of it wasn't that appealing. Looked a bit like a tarted up motel 6. Actually, Motel 6 is probably nicer.

"Great management, very good buffet breakfast, across the street from the beach shot walk to the Harbor"

Lovely077, Arroyo Grande, California 22/11/2016

The room was very clean, good pillows, comfortable Bed, lovely large towels, and my husband loved the double shower head , looking for one to buy! Poolside, room was small but ok for the price. Santa Barbara is one of the loveliest cities in California, should not be missed

"Convenient but Noisy Location"

Kaashee, North Andover 21/11/2016

Rooms are spacious. Staff was courteous. Free breakfast had a good variety even for vegetarians. The location is convenient to highway. That should make a traveler ready for highway or road noise. The advantage is that there is a public park across the street where people can walk, stretch, etc.

"Nice location"

dinkmcqs, San Francisco, California 21/11/2016

We stayed two nights in room 307, liked the top floor room with a balcony (sadly no seating on balcony) with a view of the park across the street and slight view of the harbor also. Property features a small heated pool in the center courtyard, with plenty of chaises, seating and towels available for guests poolside. The breakfast area can get very cozy in the hotel lobby, best to get in early grab a couple of goodies to go.

"Hotel by the beach"

Pat S, Hamburg, Germany 19/11/2016

Location-wise this hotel is perfect. With a coffee to go from the lobby you can walk over to two beaches. Right around the corner is a bar frequented by students since from the side rooms you look over the baseball field where the college team prepares for their games :) The rooms are nice and clean and the breakfast is tasty as well. In the afternoon there are cookies and you can get coffee and tea all day long. The only negative part is that they don't rent bikes. This would make me give 5 stars-

"What you would expect from a BW: Good 2 star hotel"

caineuk1, United Kingdom 13/11/2016

Excellent location for the pier, harbour and beachside. Walking distance to State street which is the main drag for food, bars. If the other end of State suggest a taxi/uber at least a couple of miles; we walked back to the hotel. Room was clean, normal issues for hotels with the remote needed squeezed to get it to work properly. More a peeve, but the bathroom extractor fan made a droning sound in the room, so that stayed switched off while sleeping. Breakfast was included in the booking however the breakfast room was tiny and ourselves as most others were moaning about its size. The fan in the

The Beachside Inn was in such a perfect location. Right across from the beach. The staff was friendly. Check in was easy. Night staff was awesome. Harvey the manager was great. He made sure we were happy with our accommodations. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. The pillows were just okay. They had a good breakfast that was included with our stay. There was eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast, yogurt and cereal and more. We will stay again.

"great location, great staff but very overpriced for room and facilities"

enncle, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom 09/11/2016

my partner and I arrived in santa Barbara on a Saturday evening. we had been on a road trip and arrived tired and this hotel had been recommended to us by family for its location. the family members had stayed 2weeks before hand and had paid around £150 per night. granted it may have been a week day. we were charged £296. okay it was a Saturday, but really????? we had planned an evening out so we stayed. now ive stayed in many best westerns in the usa, the 1 on sunset strip L.A is fantastic and you don't mind paying theses prices for the luxury and comfort and location. but the location of this property is the only thing it has going for the price it charges. the rooms were clean granted, but very basic. the pool area clean but basic. the breakfast was basic and was served in the reception area, which infact was very busy due to local workmen eating. the staff were very friendly, attentive and could not fault check in- check out. I just think that this maybe could change its name from bw to motel 6 or travel lodge, as could the bw in bishop. too many hotels using this bw are making me wary of what you are going to receive room wise for the price. would only recommend this room to friends who knew they are staying mid week, and tell them to check out the prices first.

"Good location, friendly staff"

cowlemon, Los Angeles, CA, USA 05/11/2016

Pros: 1. Good location. It's right across the street from the harbor and beach. 2. Free breakfast. Nothing fancy but it's one less hassle at 6am. 3. Decent size room if you're traveling with pets. 4. Rain shower. 5. Several covered parking spots. 6. Microwave and mini frig. Cons: 1. No king size bed for pet friendly rooms. 2. Parking is not free. 3. No waffle maker. 4. Lobby isn't open 24hr. It's nice to be able my kid somewhere at 5 am so he doesn't wake up mommy.

"Near the Water"

Kathleen H, Frederick, Maryland, United States 01/11/2016

Our room was next to the pool. It was small but clean and comfortable. We had trouble with our key and the staff who had to help us several time were very pleasant The breakfast room was small but the food was above average. There was parking in the back which was nice. There was noise during the day but none at night.

"Perfect location"

eurotripper_cph, Copenhagen, Denmark 01/11/2016

We found this Best Western by chance following a long drive from Monterey and were very happy with the standard. A nice pool, easy, free parking onsite, clean room, and a nice breakfast included. The hotel is also right over the road from the beach, and the pier with some nice restaurants is about a 10 minute walk.

"vacation stay"

Dennis C, Grants Pass, OR 31/10/2016

Was not made aware of the extent of construction going on or that it was directly under the first assigned room. second room given was nice but we did not have the view that we had initially asked and paid for. Had no water on arrival and was unable to use toilet after a long drive. Location was very good for walking to many attractions. could have been a better experience.

"Overpriced for the room"

andrea512016, Brookings, Oregon 29/10/2016

The staff was wonderful and the location was amazing. There were great places to walk the dog, even at night. The room was shabby and felt like being in a dungeon of sorts. It was located at the back of the hotel between the pool and the parking lot. I would expect this of a pet designated room which was fine. The problem we had was that they charged $100 more for the Friday and Saturday night included in our 5 day stay.

"Huge disappointment"

stewart f, Auckland Region, New Zealand 26/10/2016

Lack of value for the money we paid!! Having been to Santa Barbara years ago we were really looking forward to our return visit, this experience just showed us how your accomadation affects your holiday mood. It was clean but very tired, there was nothing about the place that would wish you to stay longer, in fact if we had not prepaid we would not have stayed. I did question with reception the huge difference in the cost in booking through an online site and booking with the hotel directly. During our trip we stayed in far better hotels for the dollars we spent here!!!!

"View of a homeless encampment"

2J0hns, Los Angeles, California 25/10/2016

When I booked a pet friendly room I thought I was getting an ocean view and found the price reasonable. When I arrived I was told pet friendly rooms only had park views. We fell asleep with the balcony doors open onto the park. At around 6:30 am there was a lot of noise coming from the park. During the night the park had turned into a homeless encampment and they were now serving breakfast to a long line of the downtrodden. I appreciate the good works of those who were helping the down and out but this is not where I wanted to spend my weekend getaway.

"Great Location, Excellent Staff"

User 13/10/2016

We stopped here in Santa Barbara for the night on our way to Palm Springs. We wanted a place close to the beach. You really can't get any closer than this place. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The employees working there were great. They welcomed us with helpful information, aswell as warm cookies and refreshing cucumber water! We were able to take a leisurely sunset walk down to the pier but ended up eating at a wonderful Italian restaurant just next door to this hotel. You must try the local McConnells ice cream for your end of day treat. Great breakfast. Quickest checkout ever and then onto our final destination. We would definitely stop here again.

"Friendly Service"

KellyBoy309, Chicago, Illinois 10/10/2016

Every single employee we encountered went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. We would love to come back once their renovation is over. Great value and great location. The bedroom was comfortable with a great balcony overlooking the harbor.

"Everything about this hotel is good except the cramped breakfast area"

Brian M, Stockport, United Kingdom 05/10/2016

Excellent location, comfortable room and bed, good service. A pity that they feel the need to charge guests for parking, and the breakfast room is very cramped, otherwise we would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Brian, We have heard similar comments as yours over the last few years, so I am excited to say we have just begun our major upgrade including a MUCH larger breakfast area. We are very excited. As for the parking, we follow suit with all the other waterfront hotels, and by far we remain the least expensive at $3.00 per night. Hope you can visit us again when the new breakfast area is ready and review us again, maybe eliminating the word "otherwise". I'm confident you will love it! See you soon. HJRobbins - GM

"A night with "Dolly""

dixie280, Arroyo Grande, California 01/10/2016

My best friend & I were looking for a get away-even though we both live within a 100 miles of Santa Barbara. Dolly Parton appearing at the Santa Barbara Bowl was the perfect excuse. So we decided to make it extra nice and stay at one of our Favorites -Best Western Beachside-reasonable price wise, clean and courteous staff. Dolly's show was ,of course, "the best" and our relaxing stay at Beachside made it all great.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Dixie, Nice to see you again and heard Dolly was great! Hope to see you soon for another show or maybe come down and do nothing like so many of my neighbors. I would value your opinion on our upgrades as they are all just starting. See you soon! HJRobbins - GM

A great afternoon-the pool was perfect, staff called early for a cab for us-we didn't miss our concert, and the room was quiet-a good nights rest!!! And lazy morning-all a good break for a couple of full time caregivers!!!

travelpartners05, England 29/09/2016

Easy to find, parking for free in hotel carpark. It's obvious that the hotel has been there many many years by the general style and layout. But it's fairly well maintained. We had a room overlooking the Harbour which was nice. It was noisy though - not from the road but you hear every little noise from your neighbours and the plumbing sounds are pretty intrusive all through the night. Comfortable bed and the service and breakfast were good.

"Under Construction unbelieveably noisy"

Debbie M, Albany, NY 29/09/2016

We were in room 217. Right under our room they started jackhammering or drilling or something at 9:00 am both days we were there. When we got back to our room at 2:00 pm it was still going, there was no airconditioning and the manager was not helpful at all. This is definitely not the best Best Western we have been in either. It was overpriced to begin with because they are on the beach and the room wasn't overly clean either. The only good thing is that we were able to walk down to the pier or take the shuttle downtown.

"Great Location, Wonderful Staff, Good Value"

Richard G, Baltimore, Maryland 28/09/2016

Santa Barbara is relatively expensive, but the Best Western offered great value in close to an ideal location. The staff was very welcoming and friendly and the room felt spacious and had a comfortable bed and great air conditioning. We stayed 4 nights and were able to walk virtally everywhere. It was a great place for a needed vacation.

Jay C, Eagle Creek, Oregon 27/09/2016

I normally love best westerns. This place was a little over priced anyway but the AC for the facility was down and had been for a while. It was 98 degrees out side and 90 in our room. We were miserable. They did give us $60 off on our room but we didn't sleep anyway. The staff was very nice but make sure their AC is working before you book

"A real gem"

stormylondon, London, United Kingdom 26/09/2016

This hotel is being nicely renovated. The standard of the room décor and facilities are great. Very stylish, lovely crisp white bed linen, super showers room. Refurb is currently underway but we were not disturbed by any dust or noise. The workmen are courteous and the staff here are very welcoming and helpful. Lovely pool, although we didn't really get time to use it and it does seem to be in shade for most part of the day. Good location, close to end of the beach with a flat walk towards the pier and tourist info. Nice breakfast. Nominal fee for on site parking. Would stay here again with out hesitation.

"Highway 1 Heaven"

Errol D, Derbyshire, United Kingdom 17/09/2016

Travelling from San Francisco to Santa Monica this was an overnight and we were not disappointed. The Beachside hotel was in an excellent location and as suggested in the name it is exactly that beachside !! Quiet, comfortable, clean and perfect location for travelling Highway 1.

"Good location but out dated."

Penny E, Garden Grove, United States 09/09/2016

Good location across from the beach but found this hotel out dated. Room was very spacious but in need of a paint job. Lobby where breakfast is served is small but food was good. Felt price was a little high for the condition of this Best Western but I guess you pay for the location.

"Poor room temperature"

User 07/09/2016

You could not control the air conditioning. You could only set it at one temperature, not hot / cold. The thermostat only went down to 70 and the ac did not work very well. If the outside temperature was below 70, the room still did not cool off. There was no circulation even with the windows open. At night, the room was hot and stuffy and made for three miserable nights of sleeping. I would not stay here again.

"Lovely views of the sea and palm trees from our balcony"

User 07/09/2016

This is a great hotel, very centrally located to the beach and a short walk to the town. The hotel was undergoing some refurbishment however this didn't impact our stay. The pool was clean and provided free towels. The room had a fridge and a balcony which offered views of the beach. The beach is lovely and the children were able to hire paddle boards for a couple of hours which they enjoyed. There is a complimentary hot breakfast and pastries which was great although limited seating availability but nevertheless still great.

"Labor Day Weekend"

SIN_D79, El Paso, Texas 05/09/2016

We stayed on Fri and Sunday for Labor Day weekend. Everything seemed to be updated/remodeled. The rooms were clean and so were the hotel grounds. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgable. My husband and I would stay here again.

"Perfect location for us and great value for money."

User 03/09/2016

A tad noisy due to renovations and the lift was out of order, but perfect for somewhere to put your head down for the night. What a beautiful town, the food at Toma just down the street is the best I have experienced in California in the last 10 days of travel

"A fine hotel!"

User 03/09/2016

Excellent location on beach with friendly and professional staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with whisper quiet AC and a novel compartmentalised bathroom set up that works well. The inclusive breakfasts were amongst the best. Not the cheapest, but a good compromise between price and quality. Really enjoyed our four nights in this well-run hotel.

"Waterfront Sweet Spot"

breezy4663, Kihei, Hawaii 31/08/2016

Nice location in Santa Barbara where one can stroll the boulevard along the waterfront. Plenty of parking, nice reception, good continental breakfast in the lobby, great little courtyard pool and clean, well-appointed rooms. The room was small, but cozy and comfortable and we particularly enjoyed the balcony and the fresh air coming in. We didn't have a waterfront view since we were traveling with our pet and the pet-friendly rooms are located on the side of the building overlooking the park across the street. But it was a nice view and we had a comfortable stay.

"Love Santa Barbara"

Lupe G, Palmdale, California 29/08/2016

Conveniently located hotel, can't ask for more with a view of the ocean. Everything was within walking distance and I loved all that I got to see! i do plan on returning back with my husband. I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Lupe, Great to see you. My staff told me we will see you soon. We'll still be here whenever you come back with the great views and great location. We can't change those things :) All the best HJRobbins - GM

"It's all about the staff"

Peter D, London 26/08/2016

Sytlalli (apolgies if mis-spelt) burned our eyeballs with a 1000watt smile upon arrival. Then she kidnapped one of our daughters under the pretence of showing her the room. Our daughters still site her as their favourite part of a 3 week road trip. She is wasted at this well-located hotel.

"Modern room for a quick stopover "

BeasleyE, Stourbridge, United Kingdom 24/08/2016

The room was a little small, but it had been recently been modernised and was very clean. The only downside of the room was the unpleasant smell coming from the drains in the bathroom. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel was in a good position for exploring Santa Barbara. Breakfast was a little chaotic as the space is quite small, however the food was good, plentiful and there was a very good range of breakfast foods available.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi there, Thanks for the nice feedback! Glad you mentioned the the odor issue upon departure. We had it checked and corrected immediately. Sorry about that! And for my small, chaotic breakfast area, you are right...however, we are proud to say we are about to embark on a journey to make it 5 times larger and renovate the entire hotel. Please keep an eye on our facebook page for updates with information and photos of all the fun things to come. See you next time HJRobbins - GM

"Great Location Overlooking the Harbor"

Glenn M, Fremont, California 17/08/2016

This is a solid choice and consistent with Best Western standards. It's not upscale, but it's clean and comfortable. We elected to pay a bit more for a room on the second floor with a harbor view and balcony - very nice. Lots of dining and activity options within walking distance. You're likely to pay over $300/night for this kind of arrangement, but for our enjoyable weekend getaway, it was acceptable. A hot breakfast was included.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Glenn, Our views and location will never change thankfully. We are quite fortunate. But the prices, well, we know how that goes, up and down but I'm glad we are able to stay on the lower end of the waterfront rooms with our pricing. See you soon! HJRobbins - GM

"Overpriced, questionable attitude to the environment "

HattieS1979, Berlin, Germany 17/08/2016

We stayed here for two nights en route to San Francisco. Considering the very high prices, the hotel appears fairly shabby in terms of paintwork. The room was OK but unspectacular, with the exception of the very comfortable bed. However, in the light of California's severe drought, it was irritating that, although a sign specifically advised guests to leave towels hanging on the rail if they didn't want them changed (which we duly did as we didn't), when we returned to the room we found a complete set of new towels and toiletries, although the others had hardly been touched. This was very poor and disappointing. The breakfast was poor quality, made even less appealing by the shockingly wasteful use of paper plates and bowls and plastic cutlery. Saving on staff costs is apparently more important than the environment. Large chains like these would do well to change some of their more destructive policies. The staff members were friendly and courteous.

"Great location in fun Santa Barbara"

sylver1973, köln 17/08/2016

Stayed one night (wish we could have stayed longer!). Great location, just a few steps from West Beach. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast. Only thing we did not like was the price; we booked short notice during the Spanish Days festival....

"Weekend Getaway"

Mccbud, Irvine, California 16/08/2016

Booked at the Best Western Beachside for a overnight getaway for some wine and golf over the last weekend. Found the hotel on the site as a place with easy beach access and in the price we were looking for. I was a perfect spot for us as it was close to the Funk Zone and beach and had a great view of the harbor and the pier. Room was clean and there was a nice breakfast available before we headed to I the links. Nothing fancy, but the area has plenty to offer and this was a great spot to relax after a day in Santa Barbara

Kenneth G, Bakersfield, United States 16/08/2016

We had a great experience at this hotel. It is in a great location with a friendly knowledgeable staff. the room was comfortable and we slept great. We will definently be staying here again and I will be letting everyone know that it is a great place.

"Perfect location for a mellow beach vacation"

Terryfrom75, Los Angeles, California 09/08/2016

When you're at a gorgeous seaside town as Santa Barbara, hoping to enjoy the beach and water sports, you don't want to commute in and out of the boulevard strip. You want to wake up, smell the surf and walk out onto the beach whenever you like. This hotel offers just that. Great ocean facing rooms, good parking, everything you need within walking distance. It costs a few dollars extra, but for the real Californian beach experience, a location like this one is indispensable. It is well kept, clean and the staff is nice.

"great location"

David H, Thunder Bay, Canada 07/08/2016

Clean, quiet rooms. Nice view of harbour. Walking distance to everywhere . . . beach and downtown. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Balcony off room with table and chairs great to have. A nice touch for breakfast.

"hotel average"

rositadelacerda, Santiago, Chile 06/08/2016

this hotel is not really good but not bad, just across of the beach, the breakfast is poor but the check in was quickly, at the lobby yo can pick up bottle of water almost all day and is very good locate

"Fishing with my grandson"

Bradford D, Calabasas, United States 04/08/2016

Excellent location across from the marina. Helpful and professional staff were very accommodating, pointing out sites to see & places to eat. The room was clean, quiet and everything from the hair drier to the mini-frig worked as was expected.

"expensive stay for what it is"

fvdc2014, Ghent, Belgium 29/07/2016

overcharged for the given quality, quite old building and small swimming pool not working elevator breakfast room to small, and limited choice, always coffee in the plastic cubs. How many more waste to create like that ??

"Nice resort near the beach"

rpclancee, LI 28/07/2016

We had a harbor view room on the 2nd fl. We just stayed at BW in San Simeon so this was a bit less in comfort, amenities, and overall quality. We don't like the quality of food at free breakfast hotels but BW-SB was better than Choice Hotels where we are Diamond Members.

"Excellent location and very nice helpful staff"

User 27/07/2016

Excellent location. Paid $270 for a 1 bed, on the 3rd floor. No balcony. A wet room, no bath. Good hairdryer and makeup remover wipes in room. Very good breakfast, comfy clean bed and the staff were very nice and helpful. Downside was the lift was out of order (which we were told when booking), Feathered bird's outside the bedroom was so noisey, kept us awake most of the night (not hotel fault i will say) And the carpet was wet and there was a floor fan drying it out.

"Can't beat the location "

emlazo, Fontana, California 25/07/2016

This Best Western is right across the marina and about half a mile walk to the pier. On the Saturday that we were here, there were many vendors along the grassy part near the beach selling artwork, jewelry, furniture, hats and all sorts of knick knacks. There were ample parking for $3 at this facility. The rooms were clean and freshly painted. The bed was comfortable and the pillows perfect; not too soft and not too firm. The bathroom had nice rain shower and a hand held component to make it earlier to get rinsed off. The air conditioner worked well. Even though the room was a little small. It was fine. The breakfast offering was just ok. No waffles but they did have English muffins.

"Broken Elevator and a screw in my tire."

Frank P, Clayton, United States 24/07/2016

Paid full price for an elevator that was working. Upon checking out, I found out there was a screw in my tire that I had to get plugged. There was construction equipment extremely close to my car. There was no compensation off the room rate because of the inconvenience of a working elevator. We were put on the 3rd floor of the hotel.

"Great Location, nice motel"

User 19/07/2016

Best Western beachside was in a great location. Nothing fancy but it was clean and the ocean was right across the street. Elevator didn't work, but they had people to help with suitcases if needed. Pool looked nice and clean but we didn't have a chance to use it. Very good hot breakfast.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Kim, Thank you for your kind words. Yes, our elevator has caused all of us and our guests frustration, but we have done our best during this difficult time. Thanks again for mentioning. HJRobbins -GM

"Brief stop"

Denise C, Tucson 19/07/2016

Had to book only about 6 weeks in advance which is always a bad idea for area in July. Limited choices and always costly! This Best Western is nicely located off State, near Sterns Wharf providing water front views, parking and a full breakfast, free internet with your stay. Retro feel/cute. Nice friendly staff. For a total of $400 for one night it was overpriced

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Denise, Thank you for the honest feedback. Santa Barbara has become quite pricey, and hard to believe we keep our prices on the lower end of the spectrum for the waterfront hotels. We are just "going with the flow" for the time being... Until our upgrade / renovation is complete. Can't wait for you to be back and see what we created. You'll be quite pleased I'm sure. We are all excited. All the best! HJRobbins - GM

"All Around Award"

mikeclarken, San Diego, California 15/07/2016

This hotel gets just about everything right. It is priced for the location, which is fantastic for the beaches and for State Street commercial access. So, I can't complain about it being a bit steep. The pool is nice and heated very comfortably. Our room on the 3rd floor had fantastic light, and it was spacious. Beds and pillows were comfortable, and the tv and Internet were good. Shower was excellent- over 6'3" high and great pressure. Everything was clean and nothing seemed dated or dank. Room was quiet all night, and the hotel was totally full. Service staff was EXCELLENT. Christian and Armand were examples of what service is all about. Even the overnight gentleman was very kind and responsive about my pre-dawn coffee request. Breakfast was good- not the best hot/cold due to a little lack of variety, but the eggs and potatoes were nicely done. Coffee was very good, too. Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that the elevator was out of service and there was no discount for 3rd floor, though we were offered help with our bags. We'll stay here again for sure if I can swing the price.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Mike, You covered it all, even Christian and Armand, who we have working extra hours these days because of the elevator issue. Glad they could show you "how we do things" at the Beachside Inn. See you soon I'm sure. HJRobbins -GM

"Nice place"

MariaGiuliacds, Milan, Italy 08/07/2016

Very nice place to stay, right on the beach and also with a pool; super quiet and with some ocean view rooms. The staff is super friendly and at the reception there are always cookies, berry water and other treats for guests. Breakfast is served in the same room and many are the options. Not a luxurious place but perfect to stay with family. Close to State Street, the main street, and to the pier.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Maria, Thanks for mentioning my staff as many guests do. Its not luxurious yet, but my staff seems to make up for it as many find out. They obviously enjoy their jobs, after all, we do work on the waterfront in Santa Barbara. I can't get much better. Glad the family was happy as well! HJRobbins - GM

"Not So Nice"

Gary K, Burlington, Vermont 07/07/2016

My wife and I booked a room with an ocean view to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. The room was nice, but for $547 for two nights, I was disappointed that the elevator was broken (we were on the third floor) and that the pool was closed for construction. Posting signs saying "sorry for the inconvenience" doesn't make up for the disappointment. Aside from the room, the walkways, stairwells and halls seemed a little dilapidated. Wish we had booked a nicer place for less money.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Gary, Our apologies for the disappointment you experienced during your recent stay. I admit during some of the recent improvements we are making, things tend to look as they shouldn't especially with construction workers walking around and some debris being dragged around. We do our best during the day to keep up with the dust, but sometimes it gets away from us and we catch up by days end. We are trying our best during these difficult times, but occasionally we might fall a little short, which we might have done while you were here. No excuses, just the facts. SORRY!! HJRobbins - GM

"Holidays "

User 06/07/2016

Clean ,Tidy. Helpful staff. Great location. Value for money. Nice pool area. Closed at our visit due to building work. Hotel let us have a late checkout in order to watch the football. Would fully recommend this hotel in Santa Barbara . Nice breakfast included in the price. Choice of cooked breakfast or different fruits.

"Priced right"

Kristinesixteen, Santa Rosa, California 05/07/2016

Santa Barbara ain't cheap! I looked for a place to stay that was somewhat reasonable as we were staying for 3 days as my daughter checked out UCSB. This was a very acceptable hotel within walking distance of the pier. Parking is ample and the room was nice. It is across the street from a park that is home to a large number of homeless people. We woke on Mother's Day to religious singing and a group serving breakfast to a long line of homeless people. It didn't bother us but I think it's notable in a review. That being said I would stay here again.

User 05/07/2016

This is a modest, comfortable, clean hotel with helpful, cheerful staff. The room was really nice, the free breakfast options were fresh and healthy, and the location is fantastic - this hotel is within walking distance of the entire harbor and many fun, good restaurants.

"Showing its Age"

User 05/07/2016

Dated, tired Motel. Broken Elevators, pool closed on my stay, no mention of this when booking. Very nice staff, trying hard with a property badly in need of renovation. No room service. Stayed one night, will likely look elsewhere next time in Santa Barbara

"The Best Best Western Hotel I have stayed so far."

CKC206, Los Angeles, California 30/06/2016

Best Western Beachside Inn is a very decent hotel with great service and fairly well maintained amenities. It is in walking distances to Santa Barbara Pier, the Harbor as well as State St. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel and took advantage of its location. The morning walks to the harbor with ocean breeze and the afternoon stroll on State street and the pier were memorable. The harbor view room we stayed was on second floor facing the harbor. There were barely any street noises at night because of the balcony door had minimized the noises. The room was very clean and well presented at first sight. Most of what you need for your stay is there in the room including extra blankets and pillows. Free continental breakfast and free wifi are provided. Loved the heated pool, which the hours are from 9 am to 9 pm. Although the hotel was still undergoing construction, it is in the final stage where noises are not as bothersome. We appreciated their accommodation of late check out when we requested it. Overall, you can't go wrong with this hotel. Last thing to mention, there is a $3 parking fee they charge per day.

"A run down, overpriced, well located motel w/a pool"

Deanosity, San Mateo, California 29/06/2016

It is what it is. Pros: Located a short walk from the beach, Pier and the State Street. Has a small heated pool. Pretty decent breakfast when compared to the typical motel "continental" breakfast. Cons: Overpriced Run Down Elevator didnt work Construction going on all day (this was June 2016) Note: the place is in need of some serious upgrades, so the construction could go on for a while longer. Conclusion: If you can find a better deal a few blocks away, take it.

"One Night Stand"

APChemistry, Poway, California 28/06/2016

We only stayed for one night. The staff was nice during check in and in the morning during breakfast. The rooms are big and we had a balcony facing the ocean (marina). You can walk everywhere. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Had issues with the tv, but someone came right up and fixed it for us. We would definitely stay here again.

"Lovely Hotel"

Susan G, Stanley, United Kingdom 27/06/2016

Rooms nice, very clean. Lovely bathrooms. Tea & Coffee making facilities, fridge & microwave. Staff lovely, breakfast really nice & good choices but a bit cramped as in reception area. Owner/manager really seemed to care that we had a good time. Fruit water lovely. Fantastic location near beach.

"Don't stay hete"

User 17/06/2016

Other than the pool is out ofservice during the day, the elevator doesn't work, the room service staff is horrible and the rooms are out dated, this place is ok. The staff is friendly and trying to be helpful but this place just isn't functioning well at this time.

"Great Location and friendly staff"

Ace J, Chicago, Illinois 14/06/2016

We walked to this motel from the train station. The area reminded me of Miami Beach 20 years ago. This is a nice, clean motel. We were upgraded to a large room with an ocean view. Ibises and other seabirds in the trees across the street were chirping loudly and beautifully (no problem sleeping at night, however). The marina is just across the way and the pier is just down the street. We ate late and walked to a Mexican restaurant, and the area seemed to get ever seedier the later it got. But overall this was a good choice for a restful night in the heart of the Santa Barbara waterfront.

"A Gem in Santa Barbara"

Ann R, Morro Bay, United States 14/06/2016

This hotel exceeded our expectations. We usually think of Best Western as a basic, clean, dependable hotel. But this one had an exceptional: location, upgraded breakfast, cheerful, and helpful staff !!

"Great location - construction noise"

patrickjJ9881UX, Huntington Beach 08/06/2016

Best Western Santa Barbara - Wonderful people work at this hotel - the breakfast is average - as soon as construction is complete (very noisy during the week) it will be a great place until then ?? Beach location is awesome

"Good location"

Jnell S, Costa Mesa, United States 05/06/2016

This hotel is across the street from the harbor and walking to the pier is great. You can catch the shuttle easily and tour State Street. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the bathrooms were a bit awkward.

"Hurting the Brand"

Ziya D, istanbul, Turkey 19/05/2016

Staff and the free parking are good. except for the cleanliness of the room and the comfortable bed, the hotel needs serious overhaul. The carpets are worn and torn out. The toilet is an extremely small cubicle; a medium size person can hardly turn around. The location is a walking distance to the wharf but not "a few minutes'walk" to the State str." Breakfast ends at 10:00, which is fine, but no more scrambled eggs when we asked at 09:35. Definitely not worth the money

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Ziya, Thanks for the kind words, but more important sorry for some of the "underwhelming" you experienced. All of the set backs you mentioned are being addressed in the upgrade/renovation we are just beginning, so come back afterwards and prepare to be "OVERWHELMED" on your next trip.. HJRobbins - GM

"Not much choice"

Kris/ Larry W, Los Angeles, United States 18/05/2016

If you need to stay close to the harbor, there's not a lot of quality selection. Might try a neighboring hotel, but doubt they are much better. If you can handle lumpy beds, changing water temps, finicky TV remotes, and loud people yelling down the hall, then by all means stay here.

"Great place!"

chilvr, Woodbridge, California 17/05/2016

Don't let the 2-star rating fool you. Yes, the grounds aren't as lovely as the 3-star Best Western properties in town but Beachside wins for location, location, location! On the corner of Cabrillo and Castillo (I think it was, it's a freeway exit and straight shot to Cabrillo). Right across from a lovely park on one side and across the street from the marina across Cabrillo. So, walking distance to several marina restaurants. Easy walk to the beach and the pier. The downtown shuttle stops right across the street. It goes straight to the pier if you don't want to walk, and with a transfer takes you downtown the main shopping/eating street. 50 cents a ride. The rooms are clean and come with an undercounter refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Who needs more? Beachside provides a full hot and cold breakfast that changed a bit each day and accommodated all of us with our different diets and tastes. The staff is wonderful - friendly and helpful. A small outdoor pool in the interior courtyard, so protected from breezes. The bathroom is a little small for my taste. I usually only book 3 and 4 star hotels, but all 4 of us in two rooms were very pleased with Beachside Inn.

"Ok but not Great"

Xine23, Houston, Texas 17/05/2016

We arrived early evening and the front desk person was more than pleasant. The hotel itself is older and the pictures online don't represent what the hotel currently looks like. It's most worm down looking. There was also emergency construction happening which limited the use of the pool to evenings. Overall I'm not sure we would stay here again but the bed was comfortable and we were had a good night's sleep. It just wasn't what we anticipated.

"Good service, but thin walls"

kpke, california 17/05/2016

College visit with daughter.. enjoyed our 3 nt stay here because the location was really nice. The front desk was very helpful and kind. Breakfast was light but sufficient, and coffee good. Sadly the last 2 days they ran out of sugar & didn't replace it but probably best not to be using that stuff any way. The beds were comfortable, tea/coffee in room plentiful, but we overlooked the pool so sadly a light outside kept the room from ever really getting dark at night, but by 3rd nt I got used to it. During our stay there was a young family on one side and an infant on the other so during the night it wasn't quiet (infant cried all night). However, once they left, the last night we slept much better. It was unusually warm for April so room was stuffy, the air conditioner won't go under 70 degrees. It was nice with windows open and breeze but of course that made the infant cries louder. We never complained because really nothing could be done about the noise, just an older (well kept) hotel with thin walls. So for sound sleepers, and/or with quiet neighbors, you will totally enjoy your stay. Perhaps pick a room not around the pool.

"Coastal charm"

Amanda D, Garwood, New Jersey 17/05/2016

From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a smile. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and spacious. The breakfast in the morning was a great way to get the day started. It is about a ten minute walk to Stern's Wharf, but I will take quiet over the hustle and bustle of downtown. What a pleasant stay!

"I love the Best Western Beachside"

Lori W, Poway, United States 16/05/2016

We have stayed multiple times at this hotel since my son attended SBCC the past 2 years. it was always a reasonable rate and decent quality. This time, the rate was very high, $750 for 2 nights, 2 adults because it was SBCC's graduation. The TV didn't work, the sheets were very rough like they were washed with towels. there was a lot of noise from a railing being replaced but NO OFFER of a discounted rate. Disappointing this time.

"Great Location"

Dolores S, Sisters, United States 11/05/2016

The hotel is old but is very well taken care of. The location is fantastic walking distance to many restaurants and activities. We really enjoyed the pool. Across from a park plus walking paths along the ocean. Pet friendly and a good price for a Santa Barbara hotel with this kind of location.

"Highly Recommend"

mkeeley, San Diego 05/05/2016

We had an excellent experience here. We've stayed at many Best Westerns over the years. This one was one of the best we've stayed at. Located just steps from the pier and ocean. Within walking distance to town, although there is a shuttle service available.

We loved this hotel the location was perfect, the rooms were spacious and clean and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The only downside was that we only stayed one night !!! "Nice stay, great location"

CSW1984, State College, Pennsylvania 25/04/2016

Hotel was pretty nice. The rooms were newer, bathrooms could have used some cosmetic work but they were perfectly fine to use. If you get a harbor view room the balconies look right at the water with a few trees in the way, very nice for the price. Location was perfect for walking around the harbor and wharf. If you want downtown you'll have a long walk or need to drive or bike. Breakfast was great for a free breakfast, hot eggs, sausage, bacon and potatoes plus fresh fruit! Would go back.

The place is clean and good value for money. We generally chose not to stay at Best Western hotels during our trip due to their bad reviews however this one got good reviews and rightly so. A great location at a decent price. Good service and satisfactory breakfast. I would recommend this to travellers on a budget.

"Room with Significant Problems"

Nancy L, La Jolla, California 23/04/2016

Non-functioning toilet, ceiling fan, bathroom light and HVAC during a heatwave. Hotel did not provide service to fix problems on the weekend. The manager was great but did not come in until Monday, the day we left.

"Great Place!"

krashzmom, Columbia, South Carolina 20/04/2016

The Best Western Plus is THE best buy in California. We stayed at two of them as we traveled up and down the coast and they were fantastic. The price was great (I'm a Weston hotel fan), it was super clean and the food was good and people friendly. Can't ask for much more for less then $150.00 in California. 'nuff said. :)

"nice visit"

User 15/04/2016

great stay at this best western hotel. We were located right across from the beach, close to restaurants, shuttles and rental opportunities The continental breakfast was excellent as well as coffee offered all day and that included free water. The elevator was easily accessible

"Simply Marvelous"

Negrete / Jose Z, Santa Cruz, United States 07/04/2016

This hotel is one of the best in Santa Barbara. I have been using this site for years with regard to our Model United Nations Conference which is hosted at Santa Barbara City College...Also a lovely venue for an educational conference. The hotel is right alongside the beach and there are several restaurants on the wharf and shoreline for convenience. The breakfast served was wonderful and everyone was very cheerful who helped with

"Exceeds expectations"

User 05/04/2016

Fantastic! I expected much less for the price. Everything was great. Clean, spacious, comfortable room with nice park view. Love the mountain view out the front door also. Breakfast was superb. Even really good, strong coffee and scrambled eggs that were hot. Location perfect. Across the street to beach. Parking safe and easy. Friendly staff. I will stay here again when in SB. Santa Barbara is a wonderful place to visit. So beautiful and easy to get around.

"Best Western"

Joanna G, Sydney, Australia 04/04/2016

Staff were friendly, but the hotel wasn't equipped with basics like a kettle. The bed had a hair in and shower head doesn't move so you have to always wash your hair. The hand basin is also outside the shower which is convenient. Room also smelt like bleach.

"Very impressed"

Leamdri, Johannesburg, South Africa 01/04/2016

We stayed in this hotel for a night during our stay in Santa Barbara. The hotel was very nice for its class and price. The rooms were large and modern. The hotel was very central and within easy walking distance of the wharf and old town. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

"Amazing and Wonderful"

jadnour100, West Covina, California 01/04/2016

This hotel was amazing, wonderful, awesome. It had a pool and the rooms have a balcony. There is also a patio and free breakfast. There are cookies from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. That is 4 hours that you can get cookies. Sometimes they are left out for more than 4 hours. This is an amazing hotel that O would recommend. I loved my stay and it was worth all the money we spent.

"stayed overnight"

noreenadams, Hanford, California 31/03/2016

Very helpful, friendly staff, offer good cookies thru most of day; had a comfortable room on first floor that we had requested. Served an excellent breakfast--about the best we have had in any motel. Staff gave us a map of city, directions to best beach, UC-Santa Barbara. We received a very good rate thru AAA.

"under expection"

Min K, Beijing, China 30/03/2016

the price and the quality of room is not matched. the pipe of the bath tub is blocked and everyone cannot have shower. the lobby is too small. it is difficult to find a seat to have the breakfast though the food of breakfast is not bad. we like the potato very much.

"Stolen Item"

Kabryna/mathew A, Roseville, United States 28/03/2016

At the beginning when we checked in the lady at the front desk mentioned that there was a $3 charge everyday for parking. Which is fine, but there was never any notice about that charge and when my husband mentioned that to her she simply stated "Well, that's a lot cheaper than next door, they charge $20 a day." Its not the amount that bothered him, it's the fact that we weren't told about this when we reserved our hotel. We asked for our shower to be fixed 3 different times. It never got done. Each time we talked to someone different. Then on the last day my emerald and diamond necklace went missing. When I told the front desk person "Jenn" she said that she would have a manager call me to discuss the situation. An hour later I received an email that stated I was credited $100 for the shower. I will be completing a police report about my necklace because it was very expensive and because your staff has shown me that don't care to talk to me about it. We also have pictures of all the issues with the shower that I feel people should know about before booking at your hotel. All of this would have never been brought up if the manager just called me and showed a little consideration towards me and my situation. Its apparent that your company only cares about money. We were really looking forward to coming to Santa Barbara for my birthday and my friends wedding. It's sad that we struggled to take a basic shower and my necklace is still missing.

"Would come back"

vivery9, Corona, California 23/03/2016

Staff was very accommodating. They gave me an early check in and was very pleasant upon checkin. I was given a room with a balcony and view of the pier so it was a very nice. Continental breakfast had a nice variety as well. I enjoyed my stay. Walking distance to the pier and several great restaurants and shopping. Just a few miles from the popular state street.

"Worth Every Penny"

RedZin, Lodi, California 21/03/2016

We spent two nights here last week (T&W) and had a wonderful stay from the moment we arrived until we left. After reading the reviews I felt I knew what to expect having stayed in older Best Western's in the past. This blew the others away. Upon checking in the super nice rep Angie told us "You're getting our best room, 322." I instantly knew she was telling the truth from other reviews. The Good: The room was very clean, spacious, and the best view at the hotel. Room had a king bed, table with 2 chairs, a chair & ottoman, dresser, HDTV, and a large closet. Decorated nice too. Several luggage carts were available outside of the office to make taking our stuff to the room easy. The Average: The breakfast area is small and was totally full at 7:20am both mornings. They offered the usual toast, muffins, cereal, juice, coffee along with scrambled eggs, country potatoes, and bacon. These last three items would be a nice upgrade if they were cooked properly. It just fell a tad short. The Bad: The bathroom was very small and had a weird layout with the toilet behind one door and the tub/shower behind the other. Being 6'-2" tall and 260# I had to literally stand to the side of the bowl to close the door, which almost touches the fixture. That was the only way I could close the door to use the throne. Other: Only one Handicapped parking space near the elevator. Three "Registration" spaces that I never saw being used. Seems like another handicapped stall should be added. It was well worth the $170+taxes we paid. I heard from another guest it doubled the next week due to Spring Break before Easter.

"Great Location"

Carolyn K, Walnut, United States 21/03/2016

The Best Western Beachside Inn is the best hotel in the area for the price and the amenities. It is walking distance from the beach and the park. The area seem to be very safe. We didn't spend much time in the room because TV Remote did not work and the room was very small and dark.

"Excellent location and great amenities"

2Weevils, San Diego, California 18/03/2016

The best thing about this hotel is it's great location- right across the street from the harbor and just a short walk to State Street shopping/restaurants and to the Wharf. The second best thing is their staff, all friendly and helpful at check-in, at breakfast, and very welcoming every time they would see us. We opted for a poolside room so we had no view but we had no street noise either and we preferred the quiet room over a view. The room was small but well-appointed with a small table and chairs and a comfortable bed. Amenities included a small refrigerator, coffee maker and even a little microwave. The bathroom was small but with a smart design, and closet space was quite large. Breakfast was included and very good. They had fresh fruit, cereals, a variety of pre-cooked eggs, potatoes, meat and a nice selection of breads and muffins along with juice and coffee. When the fruit bowl got low I heard someone from the staff mention it, and immediately a server brought more fresh fruit from the kitchen. The staff at breakfast seemed to really care that they kept guests happy and some also chatted with guests, making it feel like a very friendly place. Another nice feature of this hotel especially given the location, is the reasonably-priced covered parking lot right at the hotel. With everything in walking distance we didn't drive our car at all. And if you don't want to walk all the way up State Street, there is a trolley that starts at the foot of the wharf and takes you up State Street for a very nominal fee. Across the street from the hotel, turn right at the harbor for very scenic view of the marina, and a number of restaurants very close to the hotel. Due to the location of the beach though, you won't see a sunset over the ocean. It is still a lovely evening stroll along the marina. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit.

"Great hotel for price!"

Kenny K, Millersburg, Ohio 16/03/2016

We stayed here for 5 nights. It's within walking distance of State Street, right next to West Beach and the volleyball nets. The hotel is kinda old but so are a lot of other hotels in the area. The room was clean, and well kept. Breakfast was OK, the earlier the better so it's fresh. Eggs, bacon or sausage, cubed potatoes, assorted breads, cold cereals, juices... Staff was very friendly. If your looking for a practical hotel at a great location, I think you'll like it.

"Warm and friendly"

AlisonS917, Gloucester, United Kingdom 09/03/2016

Stopped in Santa Barbara and found this hotel when looking to somewhere to stay for the night. Good, clean family room that was spacious and with good sized beds. We were on the second floor overlooking the harbour so had good views but it was a little noisy with the room above returning home at 02.00! Breakfast was great - good sausages and scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and toast/bagels. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, giving us good recommendations for dinner and places to visit on our trip North.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Alison, Thanks for stumbling upon us and giving us a try. Glad as always we were able to help you enjoy our Santa Barbara Hospitality and waterfront. See you next time.. HJRobbins - GM

"Just OK"

Ben L, United States 07/03/2016

If you are looking for the very basic and minimum then this is the hotel for you. If you are looking for something moderate or better, then do not stay here. This is basic at best. The hotel needs a HUGE update and upgrade.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Ben, We appreciate your honesty. We hope you got out to enjoy the harbor and beach across the street. And on an exciting note, many upgrades are on the way. HJRobbins - GM

"Another satisfied stay in Santa Barbara"

Darrin K, Sacramento, United States 04/03/2016

This place is awesome!! Jasmine at the front counter is great. Upgrades me to the suite every time. The property is clean and rooms are spotless. Some of the best sleep i get on the road is at this place. Right across from the marina and streets are lined with restaurants and shops. Check out the shops and restaurants on the marina. If you get a chance stay in the suite they have on the property its like an apartment!!

"Warm pool, warm and friendly staff"

425Birdie, Bellevue, Washington 03/03/2016

Had several refreshing swims in the heated pool--nice and warm, perfect for relaxing. The staff were so friendly! Offered several helpful suggestions based on my interest in seeing gardens. Location is quiet though right opposite the west harbor/beach area. Close to small market and Toma's--number one rated restaurant in Santa Barbara (Trip Advisor).

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Birdie, Thanks so much for also mentioning my staff. They are the one's that truly help us be successful. Glad you enjoyed your time with us. HJRobbins - GM

"Amazing stay"

Liuba M, Toronto, Canada 03/03/2016

Me and my husband stayed at this Best Western recently and we really enjoyed our time. The staff was very pleasant, the check in was easy. The hotel is close to the beachfront, I loved the balcony in our room. The room is very neat and clean. We left with lots of positive emotions about the place. Will definitely come back.

"Well Managed Budget Hotel"

ChainsawMcGraw, Seattle, Washington 02/03/2016

Good location close to downtown and across the street from the marina. Although this is an older property with a funky layout, small rooms, and exterior walkways, the room was nicely renovated and generally clean. The property was very well maintained by an extensive and polite staff. Breakfast was better than expected. Lots of reasonably priced parking. Overall, I thought this was an excellent value for Santa Barbara and appreciate that an effort was made to under-promise and over-deliver.

"Better than expected"

Gordy425, Camano Island, Washington 27/02/2016

This is an older hotel than has been remodeled, and the staff takes excellent care of the facilities and the guests. We selected this hotel because it is pet friendly, we were pleasantly surprised with the great location right across the street from the waterfront park beach and all the harbor attractions. This is also close to downtown and has easy access to the freeway. We stayed a week and will return. A good value for the cost. The only slight problem was the Internet speed was fine for email but slow for streaming video content. Friendly helpful staff, clean rooms.

"Great getaway"

Lucy F, Prescott, United States 25/02/2016

Great place to get away for a few days. Good location on the beach for a reasonable price. Friendly and efficient staff. Very good breakfast included. Parking off street (small fee) is in a protected area. Convenient walk to harbor and wharf, beach trolley stops in front of hotel. Although this is an older building, it has been upgraded nicely.

"Nice Breakfast"

James S, San Diego, United States 21/02/2016

Nice hot breakfast food especially Eggs, Sausages not just cereal or bagles! Nice staff! Close to downtown! Close to Marina! Close to Train Station! Manager Harvey Robbins very cordial and professional!

"Sea view hotel"

jacquifrance, perigueux 16/02/2016

Right by the water and the marina, very pleasant stay all round. Lots of nice restaurants and bars on the pier serving fresh fish. Good quality restaurants in the town centre. Nice walks along the beach can be had.

"Treated us great!"

trips43, California 13/02/2016

I was very pleased with my stay at the Best Western Beachside Inn. The staff was very friendly and respectful. The room was clean and updated. The pool was heated and very clean. Best of all, there is an all you can eat hot breakfast served in the lobby from 7:00-10:00 in the morning. Not just donuts and coffee. There was bacon and eggs, potatoes, fruit, cereal... basically everything that you can think of, and it is all free! The location is also excellent: Right across from the harbor and walking distance from the pier. Lots of restaurants and shops around, as well as a nice park right across the street. I would definitely stay here again!

"Very Nice"

User 10/02/2016

Very nice hotel. Very clean, friendly, easy parking. Dog Friendly. We would stay here again. The check in was quick, the staff is professional, the breakfast is hot and very fluffy scrambled eggs. Convenient to terrific restaurants, and the walk thru the marina was dreamy.

"Quite alright"

Biese, Dublin, Ireland 08/02/2016

Very well located, clean and friendly staff. The only thing I didn't like that it was a bit too noisy from the street and on the other side of the door, as you could hear everyone pass by. It was the tiniest lobby/breakfast area I've been to, however choice of food was decent enough and although not everything was tasty, but waffles they had were brilliant!

"Great staff! "

Katlyn C, Manassas, Virginia 02/02/2016

Pleasant welcome by Christian, great morning welcome in the breakfast bar by Chris. Very pleasant staff! Building is a bit older but, they have Christian renovations to the bathroom in my room. Nice location across the street from the beach.

"Best Value in Santa Barbara"

Roger B, Montreal, Canada 29/01/2016

This hotel is by far the best value hotel with an ocean view in Santa Barbara. Its proximity to the beach, trails and bike paths make it an ideal location for a relaxing weekend or week-long vacation.

zoe6282, Denver, Colorado 17/01/2016

Arriving late into SB we were happy to be able to get a room at this hotel and how lucky were we!!! Our room was extremely clean and spacious and the decor really gave it a beachy and seaside feel! It's convenient location to State Street, the Pier, and the Marina was a plus for us since we wanted to get out on our jet ski the next day as well as wander around. And best of all it's a quick walk to my favorite Brophy Bros restaurant! Not to mention walkable to a multitude of other great restaurants. The bed was comfortable and we had a great night of sleep! The room had lots of windows so we enjoyed the morning sunshine streaming in. The bathroom was large as well and amply stocked with toiletries and everything that we needed. The wifi was quick which is always important to us. Parking was easy and they accommodated our Jeep & 20 ft trailer (thank you very much!) Although we did not use the pool it was sparking and clean with a ton of lounge chairs to relax. The breakfast buffet the next morning was impressive- we were on a 4 month road trip so we had sure seen our share of breakfast buffets at the many places we have stayed! I especially enjoyed the tropical juices. We also had the opportunity to meet the manager of the hotel, Harvey, who could not have been nicer or more helpful to our questions and needs. Not to mention the service by everyone was top notch- the front desk staff and the breakfast staff and everyone else I encountered while we were there. Unfortunately our schedule only allowed us to stay one night but we will DEFINITELY be back and soon I hope! Thank you for an amazing stay Harvey and staff! Zoe & Michael

"Very friendly atmosphere"

margitsundo, Espergærde, Danmark 17/01/2016

We stayed at the Best WesternBeachside Inn in October. Four nights. Reasonable price good location and very friendly and helpful staff. All engaged in their job which adds to a good atmosphere. If we come back to Santa Barbara we will choose the same hotel.

"Great Place, Friendly Staff"

User 11/01/2016

We thought we would pop over to Santa Barbara for some wine tasting. The rain was pouring down when we arrived on a Monday. The staff was cheery and the front desk clerk gave us a room with an ocean view. The continental breakfast was quite filling and a staff member noticed I was taking breakfast to the room and kindly loaned me a tray. During the monsoon morning, I came down to take some photographs and had congenial conversations with the staff. As it is walking distance to the Funk Zone, we shall return!

"A Great Family Getaway Location"

Andrea C, Lakewood, United States 11/01/2016

The BW Beachside starts with one of the best locations in Santa Barbara. A short walk from the wharf one direction and the marina the other. The staff is so very friendly and helpful. Also, this is a hotel that acts like a boutique, hot cookies in the lobby every afternoon. Fruit infused water all day, and a HOT breakfast included with the stay. There is also a nice, heated pool. The room is a typical chain hotel room, but nice and clean.

"Good Deal"

JennyMurph, California 08/01/2016

This hotel is priced right, but you get no luxury accommodations. The staff is efficient and helpful--the staff top notch. The actual rooms are VERY small and the decor is clean, but very old. The seams of the couch in our room were coming apart. The bathroom was clean but super small. There wasn't a counter in the bathroom, just a free standing sink. The hotel definitely has a motel feel--it's functional and that's about it. The breakfast was ok. Nothing was gross, but nothing was especially delicious. The staff preparing the breakfast was very nice. Don't stay at this hotel is you are planning on actually relaxing and hanging out in the hotel--you'll be disappointed. We brought our kids and hung out in Santa Barbara all day and used the hotel to sleep and eat breakfast.

"Good value for the price"

User 08/01/2016

Good place to travel and stay. Comfortable, clean and very friendly staff. Breakfast was actually eggs and toast etc. We have stayed in many places in Santa Barbara but we wanted to be close to the beachside.

"Great location and pleasant rooms. Wish we stayed longer!"

Fun4family2000, Los Gatos, California 05/01/2016

Close to the beachside path for walking. Our kids rode their new "hoverboards" and we walked the dogs. The beach, pier and restaurants are all close. Also, the big park just across the street is pretty view from hotel room and nice place to spend time. We would have taken the nearby trolley, but pets were not allowed. We definitely recommend this hotel for families and others.

"excellent value for beach front property"

Melissa B, menlo park, United States 02/01/2016

A basic, safe, clean hotel with friendly staff in amazing location. fantastic value. Traveled with a young child and puppy. Staff made it easy and very accommodating. Best part is you walk out the lobby door and you are looking at the beach

"Our favorite Hotel in Santa Barbara"

Suzanne P, Santa Cruz, United States 24/12/2015

We always stay at this hotel because you cannot beat the great location which is right on the beach across from the Harbor, the beautiful views of the ocean and mountains and the incredible service. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the manager Harvey makes you feel like family. Their ADA room is one the best I've ever stayed in. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

"Great service, perfect location"

sanfrannative78, San Francisco Bay Area 21/12/2015

Staff was friendly, helpful and the hotel was across the street from the beach. Good breakfast, comfortable room, free wifi= well done! Perfect experience for the price. I'll be back next time I travel to Santa Barbara.

"Terrible experience "

User 09/12/2015

The walls are so thin that I could hear people talking in the room next door, when I finally got to sleep the room's alarm clock went off at 6:30am for no reason, none of us had set it up!! Also, impossible to call the front desk- there's no explanation on how to call them. When I inquired them about this they were unapologetic and rude. The tv's remote control doesn't work from the bed - you have to literally stand up in front of the tv for it to work. Wifi didn't work properly and hair dryer was broken. The only good aspect is the location.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Carlos, As a first time guest to our hotel, my staff and I are very disturbed by the initial impression we made upon you. As you can see from 99% of our hundreds of other reviews, we are NOT one of those hotels by any means. Our major upgrades and renovations scheduled in the near future will address the thin wall issue which we agree is occasionally mentioned. As for the slew of other items that hindered your experience, we are so sorry and by no means indicates how we do things here at the Beachside as so many of our regular guests already know. As I indicated, we would enjoy having you back to see what we are truly all about. We are all so sorry you had a terrible time while visiting our amazing little hotel on the beach!! HJRobbins - GM

"Terrible experience"

Melanie T, Central Point, United States 08/12/2015

Initial reaction was not a good one, and nothing got better. Their double queen room with a "harbor view" was not the case. Any possible view was blocked by large trees. The clerk even admitted that the king rooms had a better view, but still only a partial view. I asked that my complaints be reported to management and never heard a word. The following morning, I called the desk and requested housekeeping NOT clean our room as we would be in and out all day. I was blown off and just told to use the do not disturb card. My son caught housekeeping outside, reinforced our wishes to them and also left the card on the door. They STILL came in our room, which is trespassing as far as I'm concerned and complete disregard for our wishes. They changed the towels and sheets, even though we left the towels on the rack in deference to California's severe drought. They also THREW OUT the shampoo, conditioner, and soap after only ONE NIGHT - so wastefull, as well as costly if they do this with every guest. I would never stay here again. I am not one to complain, and I'd rather see the good in a situation, but this was a terrible experience. I've sent an email to response.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Melanie, I'm aware you have already spoken with my assistant manager regarding the terrible misunderstandings that took place during your visit. It really does bother us as how awful you feel your experience was, as you can see from most other reviews this hardly happens at our hotel. But to clarify one point that my clerk mentioned about the views, many of our king size harbor side rooms have gorgeous views of the harbor, so I'm sorry he misinformed you. Please give us another try! HJRobbins GM

"Too expensive for a crappy place"

Mythili G, San Francisco, California 29/11/2015

They charge you $3 for parking, given the price is already very high. Extremely thin walls, you can hear everything from all sides. Feels like a cheap place- looks cheap, feels cheap but high prices....

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hello Maya, Yes, some of our rooms do have the thinner walls originally built 68 years ago. Fortunately we are excited to say that issue being addressed during our highly anticipated renovation to begin in the very near future. Actually, our upgrades will be focused on every aspect of the hotel. As you can see from most other reviews, many enjoy the quaint older style and feel of the building we have now, but we still have decided to modernize a bit. As for the parking and rates, without questions we offer extremely competitive rates for any waterfront hotel in Santa Barbara and our parking at $3.00 per night is the lowest available as well. We're sorry you're tastes didn't match our offering, but maybe after the renovations you can give us another try. I'm sure you will be pleased. We hope to see you again! HJRobbins - GM

"Not what we expected "

hannah04, Port Angeles 12/11/2015

Booked through priceline bidding on a value $193 room at 60% off. We thought that we would get an ocean view room. This was our anniversary. My husband had just had a brain tumor removed in , I was making all of the arrangements. The hotel put us in the pool side room since we had a discounted room rate. The room was back by the noisey laundry. I asked to be moved, which they did, 2 doors away. I ended up crying that night instead of celebrating. The hotel did not understand the priceline arrangements. I called priceline and they said the hotel has the option of the rooms. What is the reason for bidding on higher priced rooms when you are given the lowest priced room on arrival? Big disappointment.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Hannah, Sorry for the confusion and your displeasure. There is so much fine print to see when booking those discounted websites that try to help us.Very often our obligation is to provide a room that can accommodate 2 persons, room type does remain up to the hotels discretion. I wish we could do something so we don't create disappoint as in your case. But to date we have no options. Please come back and contact us directly and we will make it up to you I promise. All the best with the family health issues..Harvey - GM

"Needs updating, repair, thin walls"

Don A, North Bay 11/11/2015

Staff is courteous, breakfast good. Building is in need up updating and repairs(Sliding doors on closets would not slide), mold in the bathroom, access to upstairs limited to one small elevator not accessable from the parking lot, clorene smell in room. Thin walls-noisy neighbors and TV sounds come right through, kept awake. Charging for parking is a rip off. NOT a good place to vacation.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Don, I'm sorry you were underwhelmed with the hotel...However, I am pleased to say your comments as well as other guests have been duly noted and we have a fantastic renovation of the entire property schedule to begin with in 60-90 days addressing all your issues. On minor concern I have is your comment about our parking. It is just $3.00 per night and is known as the least expensive waterfront hotel parking here in Santa Barbara. I checked your account and it was the $3.00 so I'm sorry you feel ripped-off. Many appreciate the token fee. Thanks for your feedback regardless Harvey - GM

"Best Beach BW"

"Older hotel but great location"

This is an older hotel located right across from the marina. The location is great but it means it can be a bit loud. The room was comfortable but not too soundproof. The bathroom was clean and had a nice shower. There also is a free breakfast in the lobby but not much seating so we took our food back to the room.

Hi Ellicott, Our location sure is "Primo" and our quaint old hotel is standing by for an amazing makeover in the VERY near future. Check back soon and see what we've got planned. We are so axcited. Thanks HJRobbins - GM

"Great Value!"

secriss, Columbus, Ohio 28/10/2015

We started here on a recent trip up PCH. The location is just about perfect, since you can walk out the door to the beach and yacht club. There is also a park next door, so road traffic noise is not a problem. This place had one of the best continental breakfasts ever. Not sure if it was unique to this location, or all best westerns, but far better than anything at a Hampton Inn or budget Hilton property. Recommend for a cheap stopover in Santa Barbara.

Hi Secriss, Location, location, location. That's what we all need in Santa Barbara and add an amazing breakfast to start the day..Well, enough said..That's how we role at the Beachside Inn. Harvey GM

"Big Family Group- Multiple Rooms"

Karen P, Medford, United States 27/10/2015

My family and I stayed at the Best Western Beachside Inn in Santa Barbara for my brother's wedding. It was a wonderful time and stay! The hotel's location was perfect for us- right across the street from the harbor/ beach (my brother got married on a catamaran out in the harbor), park and playground across the street for the little ones. The hotel has a continental breakfast (includes hot items). Parking is only $3 per day per vehicle- really reasonable! This hotel has a pool, which was great for our family group as well! Their lobby is a bit on the small side, but worked perfectly for us to gather and play cards in the evenings. Most of all, I appreciated the hotel staff and their service. We were a large family group (of about 20) and loud (at times, during the day). The Best Western Beachside Inn was a great "home away from home" for us. Thank you! P.S. I'm a Travel Agent and will recommend this property to my clients in the future.

"Stole My Belongings"

Amanjit K, Belmont, United States 27/10/2015

The staff "could not find" my clarisonic and beach towel. The breakfast was decent. The cleanliness can be highly improved. The cleaning staff is extremely disrespectful and rude. I would never stay at this hotel ever again. My mistake.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi again Amanjit, Again, so sorry you felt that way. Obviously we're all resolved by now, but so sorry you had some aggravation for a while.. See you again. HJRobbins - GM

"8:20 am"

Paul S, Danville, United States 26/10/2015

This room is over valued. Nice view and location, but not worth the cost. The bathroom is so small it is difficult to use the facilities. Breakfast was quite bad, unfortunately...I ended up going out after the first day.

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi Paul, I don't have any reports of what happened at 8:20am. Sorry! You were here however during a special event time and prices do tend to creep up slightly, but rest assured we remain extremely competitive and actually on the lower end pricing of all the waterfront hotels. Sorry you felt we were undervalued. We do our best pricing always in this high end market here in Santa Barbara. Thanks for visiting, regardless HJRobbins - GM

"Basic but does what it says on the tin"

Mark D, Manchester, United Kingdom 24/10/2015

This hotel is very basic but clean and tidy. We were looking for a place to stay for one night during our drive down the Pacific Coast. We had a room over looking the beach on the 3rd floor and the view was brilliant. There is an outdoor pool which looked nice but it was closed during our stay. The Wi-Fi was not very reliable. It is very close to the pier and has a great restaurant next door. We would stay he again if we were passing through.

"Santa Barbara"

I am a Regional Operations Manager so I am on the road at least 4 days a week and try to stay at BW'S as often as possible. This was by far and away the best one I have ever stayed at. I was upgraded to the suite automatically. Great room bedroom had a walk in closet. Hands down this place is a 10

"very nice value!"

Ellen C, Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States 19/10/2015

This was my first time to SB & we did not want to break the bank. This hotel was great-very clean, good location, extremely nice employees & a great breakfast lovingly serviced by Chris. There was 24 hr coffee in the lobby w fruit water & afternoon cookies. The room was across the street & in view of the beach & piers. We got great restaurant advice.I also noted the maids flipping mattresses between lodgers. The value for the price was excellent! The breakfast fresh fruit salad was worth it alone.

"Nice Rooms & Great Location"

A very friendly and helpful staff made our stay so enjoyable. The outside of the hotel was worn, but the rooms had been recently redone and were nicely decorated, comfortable and clean. The location was near the ocean and State Street, so worked well for us. Negatives: breakfast was only so-so; we had trouble accessing the wi-fi. Overall a good value.

"Great location and value"

Cynthia N, Sacramento, United States 15/10/2015

We were surprised to get a room right across the street from the Santa Barbara Harbor for this rate. With the elevator, the accessible room on the 2nd floor was perfect. Room was large with lots of outlets and space for medical machines & scooter. The bathroom was also large with a perfect roll-in shower. Plus, we could see the harbor and pier from our room. Ceiling fan was a nice touch. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The young man serving breakfast was especially helpful and personable.

"Didn't get what we reserved."

Ami D, Los angeles, United States 12/10/2015

When you go out of town and you want certain things, you reserve certain things, but when you arrive and those things you reserve are not available all of a sudden, you should be taken care of to overcome the inconvenience. something, but not here. When i reserve a room with certain things, I WANT what i order. nothing less.

"Comfortable Stay in Santa Barbara"

CARL B, MODESTO 10/10/2015

We were in Santa Barbara to start planning our daughter's wedding and found this reasonably-priced Best Western property. It is an older motel, nicely updated, with clean rooms and very up-to-date bathrooms. The property is close to the harbor and beaches as well as not too far from downtown. Everything about the place suited our stay perfectly. The staff was especially warm and welcoming.

"great price and service, right across from the beach in Santa Barbara"

joanjam, Boston, Massachusetts 06/10/2015

The staff is well-trained and exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location couldn't better - across from the beach, walk to the pier, can even walk to State Street if you want to take the 20 minutes. The rooms are updated and clean. Great HVAC units in each room. Nice pool and seating as well as a couple of pool side tables where you can enjoy your coffee. Great breakfast - lots of selection of fresh fruit, eggs and bacon, bagels-croissants-toast, cereal and yougurt. coffee availale 24 hours. the only reason i didn't give it 5 stars is that, although very well maintainced, it is an older, 1960s (?) property.

"Great place to stay in Santa Barbara"

Merle K, Yamba, Australia 04/10/2015

All employees we had contact with were great ambassadors for this motel. They were friendly, polite and nothing was a problem for them. This is the third time we have stayed at this motel and would not consider staying anywhere else should we travel back to Santa Barbara sometime in the future. We requested a harbour view room on our first visit and it was amazing. When booking the second and third visit we requested the same room and it was granted to us without any problems. Thank you Harvey and staff for another wonderful stay at your establishment and hopefully we can return again in the not too distant future. Regards Merle & Warren Australia

"Don't be fooled"

Sally R, Rio Verde, Arizona 01/10/2015

Don't be fooled because this motel looks a bit long in the tooth from the outside. Inside, our upgraded room was lovely and had been redone -- including the bathroom. It overlooked the harbor with a balcony and the design choices were lovely. The only downside was that all the lights and fan in the bathroom were controlled by one switch.

"Very good"

User 30/09/2015

We stayed here for two nights on a recent holiday and were very pleased with everything. The bed was very comfortable, the rooms were clean, the wifi was free and fast and the pool was a lovely temperature. Breakfast offered cooked items as well as a huge range of breads, pastries, cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt. The hotel is located just across the road from the beach and the balcony of our room offered a great view of all the activities going on in the harbour. We would definitely use this hotel again.

"Extra Special"

loventravel68, Carlsbad, California 21/09/2015

We stayed here for an overnight between train trips and were very pleased with everything. The staff was very responsive and efficient, the manager very helpful, the room was clean, nice linens, and breakfast extra special. The food was great, personnel wonderful, fresh fruit along with the usual items. Even iced berry water in the lobby. Good location near Amtrak too. Very happy that we could open a window and didn't have to suffer with a/c all the time!

BeachsideGM, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Beachside Inn, responded to this review
Hi LOVENTRAVEL, Thanks so much for the kind words. The entire staff feels "Extra Special" now as well. You made their day. See you soon I'm sure.. HJRobbins GM
