Best Western Plus Santa Barbara

I stay here for work. The hotel is conveniently close to my job, and the restaurant has really good food. The rooms have been remodeled and are very nice. Hopefully they upgrade their heating and air conditioning units as they are outdated.

Pros: the neighborhood is quiet. Room quiet; even when the young ladies were chatting it up in a room near us we couldn't hear every detail (thankfully). Ceiling fan. Lovely landscaping! So many pretty flowers. Cons: The pillows were not great. If/when I stay here again, I want to bring my own pillow. Lumpy, too big. The bed was a bit soft for me with the pillow top, but my husband slept great so it's a preference thing.

This hotel is a great place to stay. It had shuttle pick up at the airport, depending on hours. We were there for the film festival. The downtown area has many eating places and shopping, everyone was very friendly. It is super clean with a great restaurant and apiary and pool. I would stay there again.

The purpose of my trip was to visit a family member at a nursing home in the area. The Best Western was conveniently located within walking distance. Food and service at the Live Oak restaurant was great. Enjoyed the whirlpool and aviary.

We've had nice rooms at this Best Western in the past but the building next to De La Vina has a horrible underground parking situation, almost no internet and the bathroom is ice cold. Management had no interest in my description of the problems.

My husband had a medical emergency on our road trip and this charming hotel was my home for 5 days while he was in the nearby hospital. The staff were helpful in arranging a stay that could be extended day by day. The property is beautifully maintained, both buildings and grounds. My room was quiet and peaceful, including a garden patio. The Live Oak Cafe with its aviary was delightful—great healthy choices on the menu, like whole grain pancakes, for example. I appreciated the discounted rate for a hospital-related stay. I would come back for a regular stay—very nice all around.

Poorly located for walking to the main street Cold coffee at reception No breakfast included which is the first BW we have come across that doesn't. The reason they gave me is "We have a restaurant so you need to use that" Illogical if you ask me. Lift to access 2nd floor from the basement was broken so we had to cart luggage up 3 floors. We are 74 years old. No shower gel for a shower. We cancelled our second night and moved on.

Property, quiet & clean. Staff friendly and professional. Room as you would expect, clean with kCup coffee maker & mini fridge. Excellent experience, would stay again. We chose this Hotel as its nearby proximity to the Nursing Care Facility we are visiting family member at.

This Best Western Plus was the perfect space for our family during our visit to Santa Barbara. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The location is on a quiet street and close to the city center, which was very convenient.

The Santa Barbara Best Wester has great service, clean rooms, great eats in attached cafe. All at a reasonable price. Highly recommend this property. I stumbled upon this property after dark and had a great experience.

We stayed for one night here whilst doing a road trip and traveling down to Los Angeles. Upon check in we waited a while after what seemed like a guest complaining on the end of the phone. We were then seen to and this was swift. The stay was generally ok and clean enough however they majorly need to get their full refurb complete as the rooms could be described as tired. We did request a new refurbished room prior to our stay but it would appear this was not honored. It did not matter as we stayed for one night. There was a bar/restaurant on site and from viewing the menu in room this looked like they offered a lot and not badly priced. We ventured out to Santa Barbara on a tour and would recommend this as it was lovely to see this area and neighboring Montecito.

hot-tub is right next to the laudry room and the toilet opens right up to it as well. Bed wasn't comfortable, room was stuffy and the air conditioner sounded like a semi truck Service was good and friendly. restaurant was what you would expect.

Although my wife and I only stayed 1 night over the weekend, we found the Hotel to be very well taken care of. Very clean, flowers throughout the property, and a big bird cage with lots of little pretty birds for all to view outside the Live Oak Cafe. Estuardo at the Check-In Desk is a rock star, as greats everyone with a smile and provides top notch customer service. Only complaint is I feel breakfast should be included for the cost of the rooms. And the breakfast is very good!!

This motel is very comfortable clean and the location is across the street from the Samsun clinic in Cottage Hospital making it the perfect location to stay when visiting the clinic. The motel staff is excellent. We will be staying here again in February 2024.

Who knew of this great place tucked away in Santa Barbara, a pleasant surprise nestled in a local neighborhood. I would definitely stay here again if I come to Santa Barbara. Clean, quiet, but close enough to all of the activities in the city. .

Older hotel, but the room appeared to be totally renovated. Beautiful bathroom , all new furniture, working outlets by bed, new sliding door and screen that could actually slide easily, large balcony overlooking pool. Entire room, including balcony furniture, was spotless. Onsite restaurant was great for breakfast. We ordered an omelet online the night before, walked over and picked it up, and ate it on the balcony. It's not a big fancy resort by the water, but it doesn't cost $1,000+ a night, either. We will definitely stay here again on our annual trip to Santa Barbara.

A pleasant stay in a suite. I left with the idea of a longer stay at a future time. This was a Santa Barbara stay in a beautiful neighborhood. The staff at my entry were friendly and professional. There is a pleasant cafe on the site that serves food creatively and has a clean, refreshing decor.

2nd stop on our honeymoon and did not disappoint. A really quaint stay in accommodation representing the location. The hotel was beautiful and it was a very comfortable stay. We arrived and were upgraded straight away to one of the town house rooms and given a bottle of wine. This was the most perfect accommodation, with all the facilities you could ask for. It is a tiny bit dated but we were okay with this as it added to the traditional feel of the accommodation. The hotel has a great bar and restaurant with a true American feel. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. It is a little out of the way from the town centre but a short taxi to the front. Overall, great value for money and a lovely hotel (doesn't feel like part of a chain).

Great rooms and service. The room was remodeled tastefully. The location was close to downtown by car. Parking was free. Restaurant was very nice with good food and excellent service. We'll definitely stay at this hotel again

There's just a time you need to get away from you every day life. This location is in a quiet area with a comfortable atmosphere. Your stay will be quite pleasurable as it just that nice just to be there; away fro your normally life. Your room will be comfortable with limited counter space and your bed worthy of sleeping in the first morning. I travel for work. I'm in and out of numerous hotels. This was one location I'd book for a month if I could.

Quaint yet big property. Totally cool and chill. Nice cafe on the property with a cute pool and rooms that overlook the pool. Great landscaping with succulents and blooming flowers all year round. Finch aviary tops it all for me.

Close to hospital, staff very accommodating, much appreciated , extended check out time to accommodate family members discharge from hospital, late in afternoon & did not charge us extra. Had we needed to stay another night, motel would accommodate us.

I love staying here when I need to go to Sansum clinic. It's walking distance from there. This place is super convenient and a very peaceful place to stay. I also like the cafe at the location. Overall, great place to stay.

3.75 stars, mostly for cleanliness and customer service. My two kids had a fever, and they let us check out 1.5 hours late for no fee. Property is very dated— feels like a 1960's apartment community— but the pool, jacuzzi, and little aviary are nice touches that make it stand out.

Chris V was the personnel who assisted me. She was outstanding, professional, and so nice. I have family at the cottage hospital and she helped get a perfect room at a great rate so I could just walk across the street. She was most accommodating. She asked questions about mobility needs for a room to ensure everything was perfect for me. I felt so well taken care of the entire stay. The restaurant, lounge, pool, jacuzzi and laundromat were extra bonuses. Couldn't ask for a better experience. Thank you Chris V for going above for me. You are such a gift.

For our first night out in years in Santa Barbara, the Joe Bonnamassa concert was special. Our stay was only made better by Mark! Mark was fantastic! He was professional, helpful, and even brought us a bottle of champagne on our anniversary ! Thank you Mark!

We stayed here recently for a family wedding and really enjoyed the convenience of a two-story townhome that had all the amenities (kitchen), two bedrooms, two baths and a sleeper sofa bed. The staff was very pleasant and the property very well-maintained and spotless. While each unit is allocated just one reserved parking place, if a few couples (with a car each) rents a single townhouse, there is some free parking on the street along the street. Unfortunately, because they have a separately-owned restaurant on site (The Live Oak Cafe), the hotel is prohibited from offering the famous Best Western Plus breakfasts. That restaurant, the Live Oak Cafe, has reasonably-prepared food but seem overstaffed (I waited 40 minutes for a takeout order). On the plus side, the hotel lobby does have several types of fresh and regularly replenished coffee and fruit (apples and oranges) in the lobby. Our townhouse had a fully-equipped kitchen, breakfast table and nice back patio. The hotel also has a free shuttle service to the regional Santa Barbara Airport Overall, this is a very good hotel with a great staff which, in our situation with six adults, really accommodated our needs.

I really enjoy staying at this particular hotel every time in in town. The hotel staff is very friendly, positive and attentive. The rooms are very clean and beds comfortable. It's a really nice location and best in the area. Definitely recommend.

Spent a couple of good nights here, which has good facilties,pleasant rooms and helpful staff. Coffee and tea are always available in the lobby (and my room was just above, so very convenient!), and a reasonable sized pool is available for guests,as is a hot tub near by. The Live Oak cafe provides great breakfasts (although not included in the price) - try the delicious LIve Oak Benedict, with espresso-soaked bacon! I would certainly return, if I am ever in Santa Barbara again - fingers crosed!

Quiet, clean, beautiful facility. Close to downtown & the freeway. Lobby with hot beverages 24 hours. Plus fresh apples. The Live Oak Cafe has the best food,, menu & wonderful staff. Appreciate the aviary with finch's.

Bad experience and clearly don't understand the “plus” designation. This hotel is a combination of a best western and a former other chain adjacent to property . I was in the best western building. The room was grossly overpriced, tiny room, double bed, paper thin walls and no breakfast. The hotel wants you to patronize their restaurant. The direct tv cable box had to be replaced when only 3 channels were available . Housekeeping didn't show up after being gone for 7 hours, no explanation. Bottom line. Stay away.

The weekend was so busy with SBU parents weekend and also the half marathon. The experience from picking up the phone promptly to turning the key lock was amazing. The rooms are spacious too. The cleaning staff go above and beyond. We have been coming for years. Roe and Helen especially provided professionalism with kindness. Thank you.

This is a very charming hotel, with nice landscape, beautiful tile/mission design, our 2nd floor room was newly remodeled & had a nice, beamed ceiling. The pool area is really pretty and there's a great restaurant and bar on-site with very nice wait staff. The hotel had a super friendly front desk team, and all the maids and maintenance crew greeted you and were very helpful too. Would definitely stay here again.

We came to Santa Barbara for a family wedding and had a great stay at this hotel. The staff were helpful, the room was super clean and comfortable. The little restaurant on the property(Live Oak Cafe) was great too. I will definitely stay here again!

Our room was a corner deluxe double bed unit and it was beautiful. Bathroom was spacious. Beds and pillows were uber comfortable. Hotel grounds are beautiful. Jacuzzi was awesome, as well as the pool. Ask for pool towels at the front desk. Complimentary coffee and tea 24 hours. Front desk staff is very professional and friendly. Hotel is a short 5 minute drive to the beach and State St. restaurants. Highly recommend. Shout out to Teresa and Roe!

You have to visit this property to really appreciate it. I cannot say enough about the property, room (#271), service, staff, restaurant/food at this BW+. No complaints. Very clean and quiet room & property. Great pool and patio. The outdoor finch aviary was a nice bonus. Beautiful blooming flowers & mature trees throughout the property. Stay was extra nice due to the more mature guests & the non-summer time of year (=quiet). Full breakfast, lunch, dinner menus available.

for $500 per night, you get a basic BW experience, no service, no bar, no pool towels. The front desk were helpful and pleasant , but the hotel is stripped down to the basics. Not a great location, 20 min walk to town.

This is a very old, and dated, BW.. They do not serve breakfast. We were upgraded to a suite that had a seating area and small kitchenette. They do have a small restaurant on site that served a good breakfast but for normal prices. The hotel was not cheap either yet was not what we have come to expect of BW hotels. The staff were very good but the property is right out of the 70's and 80's. The bathroom was so tiny you could hardly turn around. They had a tiny heater that was broken. There was an air conditioner up high on the wall. The furnitiure was old and the carpets were old shag style. We love BW and are Reward Members so always stay with this chain. We were disappointed. There was a delightful garden/ pool area which we didn't use but would be great for families. Otherwise there must be better hotels in the area for the money.

Our Room was really nice. I advise to book a Room with Kitchen, so you get am Apartment next to the Pool. Ask for a room at the ground floor. The Location is really good. Its a quiet area but you are really fast on the freeway and i about 10 minutes at the funk zone.

Some of the rooms have not been renovated and look nothing like what is on the website. We were given an “upgrade” to an unrenovated suite that was dingy and sad, with a small very uncomfortable bed. We were given a full refund by Best Western, but be sure to ask about your room before you book!

In a city teeming with tourists, this was a lovely oasis. It was quiet and restful. The beds are wonderfully comfortable. It very handy having the resturant on the grounds. The location in a mostly residential area added to it's charm.

Hotel is nice and we'll maintained, in a nice residentially area. There's an ok pool and hot tub in a small garden. Breakfast and other meals available a la carte at the local restaurant. On the negative side it is far from the action in Santa Barbara. Room was clean, even if the carpet-floor does not look super clean.

Lovely hotel, staff were great. This hotel is a 15 min journey to the beach (by car) Hotel was clean and beds really comfortable. There is a little restaurant next to the hotel which does a great breakfast. Highly recommend it! Air con was a little noisy if I'm being picky but all in all a good hotel, although a little pricey for the location.

Our favorite place to stay in Santa Barbara. Rooms are quiet and many come with a kitchenette. The cafe is friendly and has a varied menu selection for all meals. It is located across the street from Sansum Pueblo Clinic and down the street from Ridley Tree Cancer Center.

Stayed there for 2 nights and the rooms was really nice. The pool area is nice. All rooms has a balcony and we really enjoyed that and it was not up to the pool area been it was more quiet. There are free parking near to the room.

We visited this hotel as part of a Californian trip. From the start we were impressed. The reception associates were very helpful, friendly and informative. The room was clean, well sized and appointed and comfortable. There is a pool and lovely restaurant ( where we met local residents who advised that they ate there regularly). We walked to State Street from the hotel ( we are from the UK after all) it is a 15-20 minute walk but through nice Santa Barbara streets - We would look at staying here again if and when we visit the city again

The room was clean, the location was convenient and the full kitchen in the room was a real plus. It was easy to get to restaurants, freeway and gas stations. There is a pool & restaurant on site. Internet quality was poor — I could not connect my laptop although my phone was able to access my email.

Stay away! Rooms are like a time warp back to the 70's and not in a good way. Old furniture, dirty rugs and sofa, double bed not queen. Absolutely ridiculous for almost $400. Should be more like $100 and even at $100 I wouldn't stay there ever again. The website is very misleading.

This a decent stay if you are on a budget...its simple and clean. It felt like they were doing the best they could with what they had. Staff very friendly, onsite pool, restaurant & coffee are convenient.

The hotel is a motel.The beds are full sized and not queens. Everything is old. It would not be a problem if I paid $99/night. Unfortunately, we had to pay $450/night. The only things good about this hotel are the location and it wasn't dirty.

So clean and quiet and lux!! Amazing for families with little ones!! So fabulous! Loved the location the townhome was so amazing and clean and perfect room for us all! It was the absolute best!! Must stay!

Nice hotel to rest if you are traveling to North of California that it was our case; we spent 1 night to rest and continue a little north to Paso Robles; is a well keep and clean motel; the restaurant in the morning it was a nice surprise; the jacuzzi help to rest after the drive

Going on a quick little getaway and always check out to see if there is a best western in the area. This bw more than fit the bill. It is located slightly out of the downtown in a residential neighborhood which is part of its' charm. Took the train up and I stayed for one night only as I was going to see some music. Was a couple of miles from the train station - nice little walk thru downtown and a mile from the theatre for music. Appreciated the closeness of everything - after riding on the train, it felt good to stretch my legs a bit. The hotel is bigger than I expected. Checking in was simple and efficient and I was put in a room behind the pool at the rear of the building. Room was clean and quiet but really I did not spend much time there. After getting settled in, relaxed for a bit, showered and then off to dinner and then music. A couple of things if you are used to bw, 1) they have a restaurant on site but no complimentary breakfast like other bws, 2) the business center was a little strange - located at the side of the front desk in the lobby, the monitors are affixed up the wall kinda like a tv - didn't feel very private to me. Neither of these items were a big deal however and I would gladly stay again. The few staff that I encountered (front desk, housekeeping) were friendly. Bed was comfortable, shower pressure good and I enjoyed my (short) stay. A great place to relax. hmmm, wonder who is playing at the Arlington Theatre next?

I usually don't write reviews but felt compelled to because of the fantastic customer service I received. I was in Santa Barbara for my daughters graduation and had booked two rooms. The day before I was to arrive, the other party going with me became sick and couldn't travel. The hotel staff immediately cancelled the reservation even though their policies indicated no refunds. They did this cheerfully. The front desk clerk named Lee was amazing!!! I so appreciate her. The room was clean, large, and the complex was very well maintained. I highly recommend this hotel.

One of the best Best Western Plus Santa Barbara Hotel I stayed in during my Stay whilst in USA. With a fresh deco, clean room with all the modern amenities. Perfect location and close to Town/Beach within 5/6 minuets taxi drive away.

First stay at a Best Western. Nice property, helpful, friendly staff and for those who are walkers, not too far from restaurants and downtown shopping. Few appreciated the extra room amenities like water, coffee, tea a small refrigerator and microwave.

We stayed in this pretty hotel for 2 nights . The staff were so friendly and helpful always . The accommodation was large and very clean , we had a little garden / patio area and there were pretty flowers around the hotel and gardens . The hotel is in a lovely residential area , within a mile and easy walking distance to lots of restaurants and shops . The hotel kindly offered me a later check out free of charge as I was running a local half marathon and may not get back in time to shower , which we really appreciated , it was a lovely stay and I would highly recommend. Clean, friendly, quiet hotel with airport shuttle provided. Had previously stayed at another hotel nearby and was extremely disappointed. Will stay here from now on. Visit family in the area twice a year so they will be seeing me again!

Had a great experience here. From the moment we checked in, Lee, who was managing the front desk, provided excellent recommendations of things to do in town. She helped store our luggage while we explored SB, and was extremely personable and friendly throughout our visit. Shared a suite with a family member, and it was quite large and comfortable. The hotel is a bit outside the main State Street area, but has plenty to do around regardless. I also enjoyed the 8' deep pool as a taller person. Would definitely stay here again!

We had a lovely stay here in Santa Barbara. Location is close to downtown but in a quiet residential neighborhood. Hotel grounds are very pretty and well cared for. We loved the finches in the little aviary and enjoyed a very good breakfast at the cafe. Staff were very kind and friendly. Good value for the area, would stay here again.

Cozy and Charming! Our room was newly renovated. Live Oak Cafe breakfast was amazing. Loved the brioche French toast, western omelette, fried sweet potatoes, home fries, potatoes with scallions, bagel sandwiches, and coffee that brings inner peace! Best breakfast ever!

Easy to find. Clean and comfortable room. Caring and respectful staff. Quiet location and close to the Sansum clinic which was the purpose of the stay. I will return there next time staying in Santa Barbara.

Liked the simple, non-frill feeling about this hotel. On the exterior it looks a bit dated; however, on the inside it has all the items covered that an average traveler needs in a very neat, clean and orderly way. The pool right outside our room was very inviting, but we didn't indulge. The Live Oak Cafe in the middle of the complex is run independently and well at that. Tasty breakfasts. Again, very reasonable. Seems popular for non-hotel patrons.

The staff here is the absolute greatest! You-all are the reason I have been coming back for at least 15 years, if not many more. Thank you again for helping me and mine have a positive experience on our trip!

Encina is closest to Sansum Clinic on Pueblo as well as Ridley Tree Cancer Center. Each room has a refrigerator, microwave and easy chair. This is a plus for anyone traveling for medical reasons. It is in a quiet area but has all the amenities needed for a relaxing vacation as well.

Best Western of Santa Barbara should create an area (food, water, houses) to attract birds versus putting them a cage/prison. I felt so, SO SAD for those trapped birds. The hotel also really needs to recycle. Come on! Otherwise it's a fine place to stay (good location, nice beds, etc.)

Service was very nice and fast, the rooms were clean, and the location is near downtown Santa Barbara so it's easy to walk around the city. The only issue is that they don't have an elevator for people with limited or no mobility.

A place to sleep. Not much more. Room was minimal. Ground floor rooms open up to the public sidewalk with not much privacy. Two mile walk to State Street activity. There are better options. Look around. The place does come frequently weNt searched.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room clean-love that the remote was in a sterilized pouch. The pool and aviary were such a treat. The birds are mesmerizing and therapeutic to watch. Love how they go into their own bird houses at night. Perfect location away from the busy downtown yet a couple minutes drive time. Great neighborhood to walk.

At the end of March 2022, on the occasion of my birthday, we stayed for two nights at the Best Western Plus Encina Inn & Suites in Santa Barbara. Already the welcome at the reception thrilled me, as a birthday gift there was a bottle of Californian champagne. When I asked after inspecting the room if there was the possibility of a larger bed, there was directly without extra charge an upgrade to a room with king size bed and a fully equipped kitchen. This room was also very clean and very spacious, the bed a dream which made us very happy. Ideally here is also the possibility to wash and dry clothes, parking is plentiful in the yard and also on the street. At night it was very quiet, the hotel is not located on a busy street. We were very satisfied with our stay and the friendliness of the staff. We would come here again anytime, we are thrilled!

Our family had gathered at the zoo. While all our young families made there way home, the hubby and I decided to spend the night, so we had booked a room. Not far from the zoo or the restaurant we had dinner at, Reunion Kitchen. Nice room, comfortable and a nice balcony to sit on and enjoy a morning cup of coffee. Friendly front desk people to help us. Just the spot to spend the night. They have a cafe adjoining the hotel, no complimentary breakfast. Each cafe person was all nicer than the next and the food was delicious. I had the Brioche French Toast and it barely needed to be cut, it melted in your mouth. Another nice Best Western.

We stayed for 5 nights in one of the townhouses facing Bath Street. A minivan was parked in front of our unit the entire stay, and a guy was sitting behind the wheel most of the time. When I asked about it at the front desk, I was told that there was nothing that could be done about it. Just a bit strange...

I was very pleased by my stay, quiet neighborhood, excellent cafe on site, had dinner there twice. Courteous and helpful staff. Commodious and inviting room. Would definitely stay here again. I'm glad I found it.

This is a great, well located property - that is an excellent value as hotel prices soar in Santa Barbara. The staff is efficient and friendly, the rooms were spotless, great beds/bedding, quiet and easy parking. It is located in the center of town for easy access to beach, shopping, restaurants. It also has a restaurant on property for breakfast and dinner.

We will continue to revisit when we are in town. Helen at the front desk is the reason we continue to come back. Helen's customer service is above and beyond! Very clean, nice rooms. The food at the restaurant was great. Thanks Helen!

My husband had heart surgery, so we were there for 39 nights. Staff was caring, friendly and accommodated our needs. Very clean, beautiful grounds, lovely staff. And the aviary was very calming. Excell

They are up dating the rooms and they are really beautiful. there is not many rooms we haven't stayed in over the pass 20+ years. even the apartments for long visits. Everyone of the employees are wonderful, very helpful , always there for your needs. Through the years some have retried and so many of the employees are still there after all this time. that has to say something about where they work. The location is great for just about any where you want to go. we always go for medical appointments. We can walk to just about all of our Doctors. We are there 2-3 times a year. We recommend Best Western Plus for all your needs!

We visited this property in January, 2022 and had a very good time. First, we received an upgrade and could enjoy a 2 bedroom suite that was wonderful. When we arrived, a cold sprinkled wine bottle was waiting for us. The suite was large, clean, with kitchen and silverware and everything we need for our stay. The reception people were friendly and some of them speak spanish. If we return to Santa Barbara we will stay in this hotel again.

I've been staying here whenever I am in Santa Barbara for several years, and it only gets better and better. The staff are stellar - every single person in every capacity and role. I don't think there is a hotel outside of Hawaii that has so many blooming flowers outside everywhere. And that is typical of the kind of love that goes into every detail, and the kind of pride they show in making every guest feel the warm, and welcoming experience every single time.

Good value when traveling on a budget. Spacious room with pool view was nice. Free parking for guests and lots of nearby restaurants and shops. Friendly staff and cool birdcage of feathered friends on the hotel grounds. If you require silence to sleep, the walls are a bit thin so you may not like it, but it worked for us.

The location is great. The restraunt on site has great food. We areclose to downtown which we enjoy. Our favorite place to stay in Santa b. We did not have a car while visiting Santa Barbara and relied on walking and the great bus system. This facility is within 1 block of the bus line either way. Some good restaurants nearby within walking distance (3 blocks)

We got a free upgrade to stay in one of the extended stay suites which was like an apartment. Towels, bath rugs, etc were much nicer in look and feel than a regular hotel room. The exterior had space and furniture for outdoor enjoyment

We have stay at this Hotel many, many times for various medical appointments. It is located near many medical centers. The property is well maintained and the staff is awesome. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. We are very comfortable here. The on-site restaurant is one of the best thing here. Excellent menu, bar, and excellent service, makes it a winner. I highly recommend this hotel, not just for its location to the medical centers, but also for its location in Santa Barbara itself to everything one wants to see or do.

This Hotel is a lovely one, however the customer service is unsurpassed. I recently had an emergency stay, the Hotel is across from the Hospital. At 3:00 am, the manager was welcoming, caring, and offered us a most comfortable and clean room that he personally walked us to. He made sure I had plenty to drink and allowed a later checkout although they were booked solid for New Year's and needed to turn over the rooms. The manager was so kind and thoughtful, customer service & CARE at it's finest! There is also a restaurant, I strongly reccommend this Hotel, especially if you or a loved one has an emergency at the Hospital, it's across the street! The Hospital staff also recommended this Hotel and so happy they did! The location is most convenient and is in pristine. The landscaping and Hotel are very well maintained and cared for. A true GEM!

Okay, if you're looking for a great place to lay your head down this place is fabulous. Quite, rooms are very comfortable and coffee is always ready! Comfortable beds and pillows, Cozy cottages with wonderful rooms!

This hotel was a real find for Santa Barbara. It was affordable and had everything we needed. The location was very convenient and the rooms had everything. We had 3 rooms, including a King Suite, regular King room, and one with 2 queens. Each one had a nice balcony you could sit on. All beds were very comfortable. We absolutely loved having the convenience of the restaurant right there for coffee and a small breakfast every morning. We could sit in the covered area with heaters and enjoy a view of the pool and flowers.The food and service at the restaurant were both fantastic. I was thrilled to find this place in Santa Barbara where most options for lodging seem to be luxury/super expensive.

This hotel is located near the hospital in Santa Barbara. The room we entered was clean and attractive. The bed was quite comfortable and the shower was very nice also as was the desk chair. The sitting chair had an unusual shape and was not very comfortable, a pillow helped. We had an extended stay from Mon-Sat. Many hotels do not automatically make up the beds and clean the rooms every day for multi-day guests. However at check in I was told that the service could be requested. I was fine with that. Halfway through the stay, on Wed evening I requested the cleaning service (empty trash, clean towels etc.) for Thursday. They verified what time I would be leaving in the morning. When I got back Thursday night nothing had been done. I called the front desk to report it and got a big apology and they said they would do it the next day. Friday night when I returned, again nothing had been done. Because of COVID we opted to get take away breakfasts which generated a fair amount of trash. The waste baskets are tiny so by the end of the week we had at least 4 wastebaskets of trash mostly piled on the floor. The towels were also getting a bit funky. The hotel either has horrible communication between the front desk and housekeeping or they are not honest with the guests ( could be both) which is a real shame. We only had breakfasts from the attached cafe but all of the things we had were very good.

We stayed here on our recent trip to Santa Barbara, and booked the 2 story/2 bedroom townhome. I was a little concerned at first site about how quite our accommodations might be since it was facing the street and just step away. But I was very surprised at how little noise we heard while at our hotel and while sleeping. It is in a residential neighborhood but very easy to access the 101 and downtown Santa Barbara. We had 3 adults and a baby on this trip and the layout with the upstairs served us well. The bathrooms were a bit small from what I am used to but did the job...one upstairs and one downstairs. The stairs going up to the bedrooms is a bit steep so if one has trouble climbing stairs I would stay away from this unit. Also, stepping over the curb from the parking area seem like it could be improved upon if I were the owner of the hotel...but very doable if you don't have any walking issues. We didn't do any of the other amenities offered, but we are used to complimentary breakfast and they didn't offer that. However, had a nice little restaurant incorporated into the property where you could order and eat at. I thought it was a little pricey but it was exactly what we were looking for in terms of room. I would definitely stay here again...but might also peak around for something new. Beds were very comfortable and I got a great night sleep even though I am a light sleeper.

A little farther from the water, but if that's not a problem....this is your hotel! Under $300 isn't easy in Santa Barbara. This is a nice little hidden gem. Room was very clean and more updated than I expected when I walked in. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was quiet. Parking is free. The cafe on site is DELICIOUS! Order online and they delivers to your room.

The Encina is the only place I ever stay in when I am in Santa Barbara. The property is well maintained, well managed and very accessible to everything that I want and need. All of the staff are truly excellent. I feel like I am coming home every time I am there. I recommend the Encina to everyone I know.

Least friendly hotel I've ever stayed at. With the exception of the night maintenance person that opened my door when my keys wouldn't work. He also returned to the office to swap my keys and bring them to me. When we checked in we were not welcomed and not told of any of the amenities or anything about the area. Upon checking out we were not asked how our stay was. One room had ants and little water pressure in the shower. This property needs an update. We stay at Best Westerns often and this property gives the brand a bad name.

I have stayed at this particular BW probably 10 times in the past 5 years. My son graduated from Westmont College and this BW is in a perfect location to everything. It is clean, has a restaurant, in a nice neighborhood, and close to everything. I love it and will be staying here in the future.

Close to downtown, close to the hospital and medical offices, full restaurant on site, excellent customer service, immaculate, and safe. Very accommodating staff. Customer service like the good old days.

Website says breakfast ( yea at the restaurant next door!). The hotel seemed to be trying but the property was older and needed upgrades all around. The fixtures seemed to be from the 50's or 60's ( not retro just outdated). The parking was right on rooms. Cars were heard all night.

Quiet and quaint inn-like atmosphere with a fantastic restaurant and bar (beer and wine). Five minutes to State Street, and other attractions, as well as the 101. Very clean rooms and great service. Many room sizes to choose from including townhouse, and rooms with full kitchens. Would definitely stay here again!

The hotel is centrally located near most medical facilities. This place is very clean and comfortable. The staff is the amazing and helpful. There is a fantastic on-site restaurant, that offers excellent fare and excellent service. We have stayed here many times and have never been disappointed.

We were on the final night of a 12 day trip through California. We stayed in 6 hotels for the trip - this one was the 7th. It was beautiful. The rooms were spotless and the hostess at the front desk greeted us very warmly and showed us around. The kitchenette was perfectly clean and had everything needed for a longer stay. The warm chocolate chip cookies were a real treat. The pool was also clean and pleasant after a long day on the bus. The restaurant served great meals with big smiles. We found this to be our best hotel of all 7 we stayed in! We hope to return!

I made a reservation twelve months in advance for one night arriving 09-20-21 as I scheduled annual medical appointments at Sansum Clinic across the street. I have followed this same routine every September for several years as this hotel is convenient being so close to Sansum Clinic and each year I have three appointments scheduled for the morning with over an hour in between appointments when I can walk back to the room. The week before I was to arrive, the manager informed me "there was a bottleneck of reservations" and I would be transferred to another Best Western which was not near Sansum Clinic. Granted the room was comped, but still ended up being extremely inconvenient. I have never heard of a hotel not honoring a reservation (made 12 months in advance) in this manner and without a reasonable explanation. So much for customer loyalty.

It's way to much money for just a very plain room. The room isn't warm and welcoming there's zero amenities. We were so looking forward to our getaway and from the website it truly looked charming. Sadly it wasn't any better then a motel 6

This property is directly across the street from Sansum clinic, rooms are nice and the little restaurant there Live Oak is very good if visiting Sansum clinic or cottage hospital this is the place to stay it's so convenient

A very nice property in a very nice location - love the charm of the older properties! Tucked away from the madding crowds, this location is in a leafy residential area, with some medical offices and the main hospital close by.

we were greatly surprised with this hotel. Its not located in the commercial area of Santa Barbara, but its in a quiet and lovely neighborhood. The room was big and comfortable and everyone that works at the hotel was friendly and attentive. There is a restaurant next to the hotel where you can have breakfast (not included with the room). The food and the service were excellent.

Stayed for 3 nights. Rooms are large and updated with nice tile floors and counters in the bathroom. Pleasant balcony with seating for two and a table. High timber-exposed ceilings and floor-to-ceiling mirrors across an entire wall: personally, I don't like looking at myself that much but you may feel differently. Comfy stuffed chair as well as a desk chair and work space. Excellent microwave (I've never commented on a microwave before but this was unique in that its beep was just the right volume, not obnoxious as most are. This is a large property made up of about 6 separate buildings. This is great because there is never a lot of foot traffic outside your room since there aren't many rooms per building. My only complaint is that, because of the size of the property, there are lots of staff working from 7AM to about 8PM, often with their walkie-talkies squawking and/or talking in loud voices with one another. Because there is a cafe on-site, there is no breakfast. However, they have excellent (for a hotel) local coffee in the lobby 24/7.

Building HVAC was next to our room. It literally was roaring or squealing all night. Room above was very noisy, squeaky ceiling and no noise dampening at all. Food in cafe was inedible. No waste basket in room. Everything looked great and appeared to be very nice, But the negatives were awful for us. It might have been different in another, quieter room. But that would not fix the food. Or probably the ceiling noise either. Big disappointment.

We stayed a few nights at Best Western Plus in Santa Barbara. It is located in a quiet residential area but very close to downtown State Street and the Stearns Wharf area. There is a restaurant onsite which had very good food and the staff was very helpful with anything we needed. We didn't use the pool but did enjoy the hot tub. We had a little suite with a separate bedroom, living room and small kitchen. It was a little more expensive than we had hoped for but after staying at a couple sub-par motels we were ready to upgrade our experience and very glad we did. We enjoyed it so much we looked for Best Western hotels to stay in as we continued on our trip.

The BW Santa Barbara is a solid choice for a stay in SB. Nice clean rooms with good bed and amenities. On site parking. Really nice restaurant. Not cheap but nothing in SB is. Especially convenient to hospital. Recommend this hotel.

Because Best Western has a great rewards program, I received $100 in gift cards while traveling earlier this year. They needed to be redeemed by the end of August so I was looking for a reasonably priced location less than 3 hours outside of LA. We decided on Santa Barbara because there were multiple BW's to choose from, and we went with the one closest to the downtown area (barely a mile away from State Street). It wasn't until after I booked it that I noticed the pictures on the website--stunning! I'm happy to report there was no trick photography, the place is just as gorgeous in real life. The (many) buildings are tucked away in a quiet residential area and offer a variety of room types. Some had 2nd floor balconies overlooking the pool on one side and the mountains on the other. Others had sliding door access to the pool area, which was lush with flowers and greenery, a lovely place to relax even if you didn't go swimming. We stayed in a traditional room (we're on a budget after all lol) that was spacious, clean and well maintained. There was plenty of parking and the on-site restaurant had an interesting menu and very cool vibe. Our only disappointment was not getting a seat next to the bird sanctuary during breakfast, but we were able to enjoy it from the outside just fine. All staff was very friendly and professional. Front desk made redeeming my gift cards super easy, and when we parked in a weird spot and had to move our car, the staff were very understanding & even apologized for asking us to move. We had a great time in Santa Barbara but honestly wished we could've stayed longer just to enjoy the hotel. With its mountain views and lush landscaping, we couldn't have asked for a better location for our mini-break.

I'm here now. Just paid close to $1100 for 3 nights. Booked on line. I'll post pictures tomorrow. It's too late for us now, as there are no other hotels available for the weekend so we're stuck. The guy who checked us in was great. I'll say that, but this room is a motel 6 if that. Old, and the bed? Not even a queen!! A double! I asked for a roll away as the bed is too small for 2 people and they brought a pad to throw on the floor. Worst place I have stayed in, in years. This is a $69 room, if that. Pictures to come. If I had somewhere else to go tomorrow I would.

Great value! Beautiful location. We had one of their one bedroom apartments. Very good size and great value. Nice residential neighborhood. Staff very helpful and friendly. There are restaurants nearby as well as one on site that is open 8-2.

The location is near the Mission at the north end of town. It had a nice restaurant, and a pool. You could walk to the Mission, and a few coffee shops. You will need to drive to everything else, but it's a small town. This hotel was just a few blocks east of 101.

Stayed here two nights last week. What a pretty hotel. I can't imagine a Best Western looking better than this. I commend the grounds staff for making the plants and flowers so pretty. Seriously a pretty place to stay at in the middle of a neighborhood. We stayed in a room in the back that was a suite. The living room was huge. Plenty of space to stretch out. The kitchen was functional. Dining table big enough for four. The Double beds were a bit small, but still comfortable enough to sleep a couple of nights. I brought a PS4 and a fire stick and both were functional. The room had direct tv. That was nice too. The WiFi signal was ok. I wish it had been stronger. The restroom was big enough. Just right size. The parking was a bit tricky but still manageable. The pool was HEATED! The boys loved the pool, day and night. I just wished it was bigger because it is popular. The staff was nice and accommodating. The restaurant on site was really good and an excellent value. I had low expectations going into this, but I was truly impressed. Can't wait to return soon.

The hotel is 3 miles from downtown and I arrived by Amtrak. The staff was very considerate, friendly and helpful and(Jose) was courteous enough to shuttle me downtown (and back to the hotel) to the Amtrak depot so that I could catch my Trolley tour and harbor cruise as I had no car. That made my trip very enjoyable. They upgraded my room to a King because my Queen was not yet ready and the room was quiet and confortable. The grounds were well kept with beautiful flowers, plants and a bird aviary. The Best Western is the place to stay If you're looking for a clean, comfortable, friendly hotel-Thank you BW+Staff for a fab vacation!! Four Stars ****

The Best Western Plus in Santa Barbara was really nice. Rooms are spacious, and the bathroom was pretty big. The neighborhood is quiet and we never heard anyone from rooms nearby. There is plenty of off-street parking and check in and check out are very simple. We stayed 3 nights and there wasn't any room cleaning while we were there, but that's not important to us for a short stay. We did not use many amenities, but the beds and pillows were really comfortable and there is good lighting. This a convenient location to downtown Santa Barbara without being right in downtown with the street noise. A few blocks away we recommend visiting Bree'Osh Bakery or the Handlebar coffee shop.

I was a bit taken aback by the cost of the room -- $179 per night plus about 13% state, city, and other municipal taxes. However, considering the competition all want in excess of $200 a night, I admit it was a good value after a;;. The appearance of the place is Spanish Mission motif, complete with ocre and glazed tiles; quite charming and excellently cared for. There's a swimming pool on site, though we're not the kind to use them. In addition, there's a restaurant and bar, though they only service wine and beer as alcoholic beverages. We had prior meal arrangements, so I can't comment on the food there. The air conditioner in our room was top notch and very easy to use. The refrigerator was just a cube. We'd have preferred one with a tiny freezer to keep our gel ice packs (for headaches) frozen. And as with every locale that is popular, parking was just a tiny bit of an issue, with respect to finding a spot close to our room (we were in and out a lot) and with squeezing our car in between the lines. The spaces are not really too narrow, but other guests didn't always feel the need to center their cars in their spaces. I loved the window treatment; we had room-darkening drapes to keep out the glaring sun, and when the sun was on the other side of the building,the gossamer drapes provided both light and privacy. Most importantly for any hotel/motel stay, the bed was wonderfully comfortable. Finally, the staff was outstanding -- polite, ready to help, friendly, courteous, just a pleasure to deal with. We couldn't have been happier.

Beware they do not offer breakfast at this location and there is not a whirlpool tub as advertised on their website. They will only have coffee in the lobby which is available at any hotel & does not count as breakfast. Parking will be nearly impossible if you leave the site in order to sightsee which you will need to do because it is not within walking distance of any tourist locations. We rented a two bedroom apartment and two of the three beds had red stains (like pizza sauce) on the pillowcases upon arrival. This really put me on high alert that they did not do a very good job of cleaning in between guests. Considering how much we paid, I would have found a different hotel a little closer to State St.

This hotel has tiny rooms, fully filled with the bed. Although clean, it has little charm and limited amenities. We would not go back, as it is definitely overpriced, especially when booking close in.

Traveling for business this hotel was great. Convenient to downtown but not in the throng of craziness. Fun seeet aviary next to the restaurant which is nice but opens go late for an early breakfast before work. Free parking and wifi and very nice room and bathroom with fancy granite and nice soap, shampoo, and fluffy towels. There's a full size pool but I didn't go. It's a motel so you can hear cars starting in the parking lot sometimes in the mornings but it didn't bother me

Booked this hotel through a Priceline express deal. Was expecting a 3.5 star hotel near downtown. This hotel is neither of those things. It is nowhere near downtown and the interior of the hotel looks like something you would expect from a 1 or 2 star hotel. The room was incredibly dated, there was no couch or seating area, just one single armchair which was stained and had missing threads. Generally, it looked nothing like the pictures. The room also smelled incredibly musty - like it had been shut up for three months with no breeze. It feels more like an old, unkept apartment complex than a 3.5 star hotel. Immediately checked out and had my reservation refunded. Would not recommend.

My friend and I really enjoyed this property that provided a spacious room with a kitchenette. The residential area makes for nice walking with shops and dining not too far away. I will look forward to returning.

Pros: Approximately 10 minutes from beach. Clean, Room was spacious (1 BR w/ Q sofa bed), full kitchen (micro, dinnerware, pans) Cons: Decor was dated, housekeeping was the biggest con, only come per request and NEVER come! Don't know if it's a staffing issue.

I'm still not sure what the "plus" stands for. Best Western, Plus, regret? Santa Barbara is notoriously short properties that someone might actually want to stay at which has allowed a place like this to exist and claim a 3.5 star rating. We checked-in and promptly checked out after seeing our room. This was a personal $200 lesson that I will take with me. Thanks, BW!

I stayed at the Best Western Plus on Bath St in Santa Barbara in June 2021. I checked in around midnight and the reception employee hardly spoke to me and was not personable. But I got the bare minimum info I needed and went to my room. The room appearance was very unimpressive compared to the marketing photos. My room was a king bed suite with a mini kitchen, and everything looked dated and worn. The pool view was a tiny sliver of the corner of the pool at an angle from the balcony, not very impressive. Because of the odd layout of the building, I decided against trying to order food delivery because I had no confidence that a delivery person would be able to find my room. Additionally on the first morning (after my late arrival), construction noise was taking place right below my room and woke me up. The vibrations were so strong that my iPhone was bouncing all around the nightstand and could've fallen to the floor. Then on the final day, I called the front desk and asked for a late checkout, which is a benefit I've never been refused at any other Best Western location, and they said no because it was sold out. Not even an extra 30 minutes. For someone who bought the most expensive room available and someone who has earned elite status from Best Western, this property showed me the worst of what they have to offer. It's like a wolf in sheep's clothing. I have serious doubts that Best Western will continue to display their reputable name on this inferior property. It's like if you ask them for anything, they are saying “we don't care about you, we already took your money, now hurry up and get out!” I do not recommend staying here as it is overpriced for what you get, and the staff will not do anything to make you happy.

Booked a two bedroom/ one bath expecting what was in the website photos. Got an old apartment from the 1970's. The bathroom had no windows or vent fan. Everything was dated. From the carpet, furniture to the single pain windows. I would not recommend.

Our stay at this hotel was excellent! The location is super convenient for exploring more of Santa Barbara. The rooms are spacious and very clean. All the staff are super friendly. Anything we needed they were happy to provide. The pool is always at a good temperature and we definitely enjoyed the jacuzzi. There's even a delicious restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everything was great! We would definitely love to book another stay at this hotel in the future.

We have stayed here often the last 4 years with a daughter attending Westmont close by...we needed the kitchen and bedrooms plus a pool. This hotel fit our needs and gave us a family feel. Our last visit May 6-10 we were in one of the townhomes vs their regular 2 bedrooms (which are also just as great). There was so much noise due to construction by the city, but, HELEN went out of her way make it right even though it was out of hotel's control. We chose NOT to switch accommodations because our girls like it there so much. Helen, though, outshines them all. Bravo.

The rooms was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We like the layout of the room. The room was spacious and the bathroom is spacious as well. It was convenient location as we had doctor appointments at the nearby Sansum Clinic.

This hotel is in a very charming residential area near the Cottage hospital. Even though it is near the hospital, it was very quite. There is a restaurant onsite for meals. Breakfast is not included at this hotel, nor was there any vouchers. Walking distance to shopping in State Street is over a mile. Distance to Sterns Wharf is almost 3 miles. We enjoyed walking to downtown as the homes along other way are quite charming.

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel twice now. Second time spending 2 nights. Absolutely gorgeous hotel, very clean and beautiful grounds. We will only stay at this hotel when visiting Santa Barbara.

A place to sleep. Not much more. Room was minimal. Ground floor rooms open up to the public sidewalk with not much privacy. Two mile walk to State Street activity. There are better options. Look around.

Lovely property with pretty landscaping and a fun and and relaxing atmosphere. Love the apartments and the pool suites that make it super easy to go out and in from the pretty pool area. We were able to enjoy the amenties and it's so nice having the restaurant on site. I just hope the restaurant expands its hours of operation soon on the weekends for happy hour and dinner again

This is a non-smoking hotel but we were placed in a room that reeked of smoke. This room should have been shampooed or deep cleaned to get the wrench out before putting guests in. We were told we would be called the next day to move rooms as the hotel was full that night. After not receiving a call I went back to the front desk in the afternoon. They told me I should have come back in the morning and they had no room. After arguing (I was congested as I have a smoke allergy), they reluctantly gave me another room that had just been cleaned but asked that we move fast so they can clean the room we were vacating. My husband was at the store so my 11 year old and I had to move all of us as quickly as possible and the maids were banging on the bathroom door while my older son was trying to use the restroom. He was horrified. After moving - the new room had no fan or window in the bathroom (a likely code violation). Overall - I would NOT recommend this hotel. I was told I would be discounted. When I went to check out I was offered a $50 discount on a $247 a night room (we stayed 3 nights total). I felt this horrible experience warranted a better discount than this token amount. The GM was “in a meeting” so I was told he would call me. Still waiting on that call.

Room was dirty and they refused to clean due to Covid?? What?! Front staff are totally confrontational and just avoid any responsibility. Dust all over and smell of mildew. No place to park our car had to park it on the street overnight in this interesting neighborhood. Stay away from this dump. Mildew in the shower, dirty carpets ...

The hotel is next to world famous Sansum Clinic and Cottage Hospital. We stayed here as I was having surgery. The staff is amazing. We initially were give an upstairs room, when we explained our medical situation, the staff gave us a ground level room that was above our reservation. The staff is awesome and responds to any needs without hesitation. The on-site restaurant has an amazing menu and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The food is away of high quality . They deliver to the room quickly. This is our "Go To" hotel whenever we are in Santa Barbara.

This is a wonderful hotel, restaurant, nice pool, and even a bird aviary! The staff was great, especially Mark, who is very knowledgeable and made our stay an awesome experience, he went above and beyond to find local sights for us to see!

I loved the lush, residential atmosphere of the Best Western Plus Santa Barbara, between the location in walking distance to the Mission and the room itself. I stayed in one of the spacious townhouse suites, which had a standalone street side entrance and gave me the "living like a local" feeling throughout my stay. The pool and property landscaping are very attractive and the birds at Perch are a fun attraction. I also appreciated the excellent food at Live Oak.

As a cancer patient at Ridley-Tree Cancer Center in Santa Barbara, this is the ONLY hotel I will ever stay at. We live about 4 hours away. During the pandemic, we are extra careful and have always taken Clorox wipes to wipe down light switches, door knobs and basically anything we touch, I have to say, we have NEVER picked up so much as a speck of dirt or dust off of anything. My daughter recently said the same thing when she stayed there. At other hotels she has stayed at, the clorox wipe comes off BROWN with dust. I want to say BRAVO for the housekeeping department for a job well done, and for always being so kind to us. They know us by face now because I was diagnosed 17 months ago, plus we have always stayed there before, since we have been patients in Santa Barbara Sansum Clinic for MANY years. The office staff is always so kind and patient with us. The groundskeepers keep the place impeccably neat and tidy and are friendly and respectful as well. We can't imagine staying anywhere else! Nestled in a quiet Santa Barbara neighborhood near downtown, this hotel has exceeded my expectations. I like the exterior architecture, whiteboard high ceilings, clean decor and carpet, onsite restaurant, and aviary.

We got the reservation at the last moment. Did not want to do the long drive home after spending the day exploring my daughter's college and doing an Honors assignment there.. We rented a 2 bedroom with a kitchen for 1 night. It was actually a small apt and perfect for a mom traveling with 4 teenagers. We all had lots of privacy and space, there were 2 T.V.s large comfortable L-shaped couch and a reclining chair. The onsite restaurant offered great food choices and was reasonably priced. We had a small service dog too. It was very easy accessing the street to walk her off-site. We will return for sure. Thank you Best Western Plus for a great experience.

I have a few favorite Best Westerns and this one tops the list. It is meticulously clean and very well maintained. Good little restaurant, easy parking and outdoor dining by the pool make for a lovely stay in Santa Barbara. I can't say enough about the staff - among the most courteous and supportive I have encountered.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. All staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. They were able to upgrade us to a townhouse which was very helpful for our family size. We will be staying here again in the future.

We had a nice room with a couch and two beds. The room was much larger than most Hotels which was very nice. It was clean, quiet, and had a small but quaint padio. The bathroom looked like it might have been just re-modeled, very nice tube and shower.

This place is great. Very clean, clean cut. Very nice room, great bed, big bath tub.ALL the staff are very friendly and polite. They have an aviary! Great food. Definitely will stay again . Right across from hospital

The hotel grounds are beautiful. When welcomed at the front desk, the gentleman that assisted me was so aware of what I was saying that he offered me a map of the area. Super helpful! Kudos for sure! The room was perfect, overlooking the pool ans the bed was so comfy. Thank you!

We absolutely love this place! We have stayed here many times this year for medical reasons and pleasure. They are very accommodating. The rooms are very clean, nice, with many amenities. We love the restaurant on site and have many gluten free options. The food and service has always been excellent. We highly recommend this place for pleasure stay or medical, as Cottage Hospital is less than a block away. We love it!

(Foreword: I sent this letter to the Santa Barbara Hotel Group from two different emails two weeks ago and waited for a response before posting this review. Zip. Zilch. Nada. The Encina itself sent me a canned response of "next time you come we hope your experience is better." This was my experience at the Encina Lodge August 7-9, 2020. We as a family have stayed at this location many many times before over the years as it is always a reliable place to lay our heads. However, I was appalled at the lack of safety measures and also the corner cutting on amenities during this pandemic. First, why is there no contactless check in? I stayed at two separate hotels in the days leading up to this stay and both offered touch free check in AND checkout. Why not a big chain like BW? When I entered the lobby to check in both of the people behind the counter were not wearing masks. One was on the phone and the other filing, and she put her mask on to come help me but I couldn't believe they were sitting next to each other on the phone at the same desk mask free. How many spoken particles were in that room when I entered? I had to pass my credit card for check in (really? I gave it online?) and received my keys. When I remarked "oh, second floor?" The receptionist laughed and said: "You said you wanted quiet, but it's near the pool, so, um, yeah." Whatever that means. Speaking of the pool, there was no cleaning of chairs, no spacing the tables and lounges for social distancing, and no limits on numbers of people entering. At the other hotels we used they had a schedule and slots to sign up for the pool to limit interactions. They wiped down chairs between guests. Best Western doesn't have enough workers to wipe down surfaces during this health emergency?? When we entered our room (259) the cleaning staff were finishing cleaning next door and we asked them where the pull out couch sheets were. I was surprised that we booked the room for three people and the couch was not made up already. I have to make up my own beds in a hotel now? They told me they were in the closet (they were not... I had to call down to get some delivered) and what they delivered was a sheet and the thinnest coverlet I have seen. Like a throw. I dug through all the drawers (all empty). No extra pillows for the beds, nothing. I attempted to nap on the fold out couch the next day with my daughter and was shocked at how saggy and terrible the bed was. I actually apologized to her and told her I'd never put her on that bed if I had known. The "full kitchen" advertised had so little amenities as to be laughable. No nonstick pans (how do you make eggs with no nonstick pans?) No wine glasses, no tea kettle, no water pitcher, the tiniest 8 inch cutting board. It took several minutes to find the light switch buried behind the microwave. No way could I have cooked more than the grilled cheeses I did. The ants started to pour into the room the moment we put a wrapper in the trashcan (through a crack in the ceiling of all places) and we fought them the rest of the days we were there. The bathroom showered was so clogged with calcium that it sprayed everywhere and the automatic motion sensor light that blares on when you enter the bathroom is obnoxious. It is perfectly easy to flip on a switch should you need light. The air conditioner was ancient, and only in the living room. It was impossible to run it while you slept as the creaking noise was deafening. The bedroom was at least 15 degrees hotter and didn't have a fan nor did the television work. The carpet was stained and bathroom counter chipped. Everything seemed in poor repair. Again, we had to face to face check out and AGAIN when I walked in employees were not wearing masks. They slipped one on to help me, but I was so disappointed. We didn't even bother to complain. We left knowing we will never return. After all the years we've stayed with you, this was an utter disappointment on so many levels. From basic room repair to simple health measures. Fail. Sincerely, LD

Stayed here for a family reunion for a week. The largest group booked a townhome, which was great so that we had a full kitchen- gas stove, full size fridge, garbage disposal in the sink. The kitchen came with tableware, silverware, pots and pans, and many of the tools we needed, as well- spatulas, large spoons, mixing bowls, even a wine bottle opener! With the large living room and the outdoor space, it was a perfect gathering space for all of us. I stayed in a separate room with a view of the pool- the bed was very comfy, shower had good water pressure, and the balcony was spacious. This was my first time staying in a hotel since COVID, and I was really impressed by how diligently the staff worked to keep public areas and rooms clean- I felt comfortable the whole time. Also, the property has lovely flowers outside the rooms that made me happy every time I saw them. I will definitely stay here again!

My family and I stayed here for a week and we are so happy we did. Everything was very clean and we loved the peaceful feeling of the place. The front desk staff were helpful and my kids loved the swimming pool. I would definitely recommend. Also, the on-site restaurant has great food!

We stayed here last year for the first time and came back and stayed 4 days, great location and the staff we very friendly. The room was very clean and had just recently been updated. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit to Santa Barbara

Unlike many hotels, we were able to have a room with two bedrooms, one bathroom, the kitchen, a dining area and a big living room. It was very spacious and pretty clean. The kitchen was quite small and not particularly well stocked with utensils. The staff were very polite and courteous. On the downside, we stayed for three nights and they never cleaned our room. However, they promptly provided fresh towels upon request. Also come out the bed was supposed to be a queen but was quite small and very uncomfortable. And if they tell you that the restaurants in State Street are within walking distance, that is only true if you believe that 2 miles is a short walk. The pool is very nice and the deep end is 8 feet. They will give you pull towels at the front desk. Parking is readily available and is free. All in all, a good experience although it could have been better.

Great apartment for long stays. Full kitchen and great service providers. Helen at the front desk is a jewel, efficient, helpful and so friendly. Really makes you feel welcomed. Being in an apartment like setting for 6 weeks, was a bonus! Will definitely stay there again when we visit the family!

Really great stay-everyone was fantastic, rooms were great and area and location are quiet and close to things. Easy to get on/off the freeway from here as well. Had to extend my stay as I'm trying to get to Europe (since March) and they were accommodating and helpful. Would recommend and come back.

A family member was at Cottage Hospital and the Encina Lodge is located across the street, making it very convenient especially with Covid restrictions limiting hospital visitation. Check in was easy, the room was nicely appointed although somewhat small (it's an older building)bed very comfy and an onsite restaurant with limited hours due to Covid. Room amenities were good, nice towels and plenty of pillows. Location is quiet and safe. My favorite part was the pool which is surrounded by lovely trees for shade and a bird aviary. It is very easy to park at the hotel and walk to Cottage or the Sansum Clinic, and not worry about hospital parking. The staff was very helpful and kind.

We were greeted with friendly and caring staff who made our check in super safe and super easy during this Covid break out. Our room was fresh, clean and included all the amenities needed for a relaxing time away from home. The staff were helpful when we called for extra items we requested.

I stayed here for a few weeks for work and everything was awesome. From the staff to the room, to all the greenery surrounding the hotel. So much life in the area. A few blocks from cottage hospital and 5 minutes from downtown and beach. Front desk was extremely friendly. Very satisfied.

We stumbled on to this motel because it is close to Cottage Hospital. Our daughter was air-lifted to Cottage and ended up as a patient for 21 days. But of course, we did not know how long she would be staying which meant that every few days we had to add a few more days to the stay. The folks at the front desk were so very helpful in letting us hold the room and working with us to insure that we had the same room for the whole time. The room worked very well for us as a number of different family members would come and go during the three week period. There was even a little laundry room where we could do some wash. The Live Oak Cafe on the property was really quite good and very convenient for us. Although this was not a pleasure trip, the staff at the Encina Lodge made our accomodations very pleasant indeed. We stay every year at the Encina in a suite (3 of us). The staff are wonderful, the on site restaurant is great, the grounds are beautiful, rooms as very spacious and comfortable, location is central in Santa Barbara. What more could you ask?

Room was dated, no frills. Plenty of free parking which can be an issue in Santa Barbara. There's a cafe on grounds. This hotel gets a lot of business from the nearby hospital. Not walking distance to downtown or much else.

We stay at Best Western often. Best Western has an attractive loyalty program. Many of the stays have been international. We found that in Europe overall the hotels are above average. In the UK - particularly in Scotland - the brand suffers greatly. Indifferent management, poorly trained staff, absentee ownership and no brand loyalty - often the apparent value to owner is to access the reservation system. Best Western has no control over these owners and does not even try to be helpful. Unfortunately, I experienced this at the Best Western Plus Encina Santa Barbara. The front desk staff were poorly trained at both check-in and during stay. They were indifferent at best. The hotel is older. The upkeep is fine. The furniture has that warm cozy feeling that you have when you visit your grandparents (this is sarcasm) Issues begin with coffee in the morning - at check-in you are told coffee, apples and oranges. Nothing else. Fine. Of course, no oranges and six apples. Want to sit and enjoy the coffee, a couch - a single small couch for three. Nothing outside. Okay- they are pushing you to go next door to their restaurant. I can accept that. Again, old and dated. All I want is coffee, a biscuit and a place to sit. I will pay $6.00 at Starbucks. I do not want to spend $12 for two eggs scrambled. Now, how often, during a small cup (which by the way they do not refresh or replace as the container empties) do three separate guests come up to the front desk to ask if their bill is correct. That is while standing there for 10 minutes savoring my coffee. I know it is Santa Barbara but simply put - there is no value. There was a Best Western just off the Pier which was excellent. Hotel is still there but no longer Best Western. As soon as they remodeled - they left the Brand. This particular hotel is not well located. Even with the loyalty program - my recommendation- Shop. I can do better.

The Best Western Encino was very accommodating. Our house flood and they gave us a speacial rate. It made our bad situation better to deal with. We would highly recommend that hotel.Thank you so much Best Western Encino Lodge.

The staff was great! Even offered a bottle of local wine when we asked about the wine and cheese social that was held on a different day. The pool and spa area was exceptionally well kept. The room we had was in the back and was very quite.

Hotel is older but very clean and well maintained. All staff is very nice, helpful, and professional. Restaurant is good but needs to have a full bar. Pool and hot tub are very nice. It was a little cold outside for us to use the pool. The water was warm in the pool though. Families were using the pool.

Located a few blocks from Cottage Hospital, this place was a very good place to stay while a family member was in the hospital. It is clean, has firm beds and plenty of pillows to suit your taste. Our room was furnished to accommodate a patient if they needed to stay in Santa Barbara after their hospital visit (such as would be needed for an in office procedure). There was a large Laz-E Boy recliner and a bathroom setup for ADA requirements. We told the reservationist that we were staying for a hospital visit and received a discount that was not advertised on their website.

We always stay here when we have appointments at Sansum because of the ease of getting to and from the clinic. It is situated in a quiet area away from the tourist hubbub. We enjoy the quiet tree lined streets and the quietness of the rooms.

The front office and support staff are beyond helpful!! They knew me by name. My stay was unfortunately due to my husband being in Cottage Hospital. They would always ask how he was doing. I felt extremely safe and cared for! The service and cleanliness they provided within my unit was remarkable. I stayed here for 2 1/2 months, and couldn't have been more grateful.

We stayed at the Best Westen Plus Encina Innn and Suites recently. The hotel is about five minures drive from the peir and downtown so is a reasonable location. The Hotel has an excellent pool (heated outside). The adjoining restaurant was good value for money. Complimentary breakfast is not included in this BW. The double beds were quite small and that is the main downside of this stay. The price was a little on the high end.

Great location close to Cottage Hospital located on quiet street. Lobby clean with small gift shop. Restaurant located on premises (separate from motel). Rooms on ground level with free parking close to room. Ask for special rate if you are in town for hospital stay. Staff very accommodating

We picked the Encina Inn because of its location and price. We were so pleased that although the hotel was large, our room was quiet and spacious. We loved the Live Oak Cafe and ate there daily for breakfast and once for dinner.

The coffee machine was dirty, Bath tub had a pubic hair (super gross) Writing on the wall. Curtains were ripped. Spider in bathroom. Spider webs in rooms. Fruit flies in kitchen. No water or fruit in rooms like they said, when they brought them I cut and apple for my kids and they were rotten! Neighbors complained even if we were just walking and it was day time around 1500(3pm)

This is our go to hotel. Its clean, secure, we sleep well. Off street parking, nice hot tub area. No pets allowed. Privacy is good. Pool area is great in summertime. Kids love this hotel. Suites are great for families

This BW is across the street from Cottage Hospital and offers "medical" rates. We stayed for 3 nights for our annual physical. The location is within walking distance of most of the various doctors offices needed.

This was our first stay at this property. We have enjoyed other Best Western Plus properties and we had a coupon for a free night. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and while the property dates to the 1950's the room appeared to have been fairly recently refurbished. It even featured a recliner and another very comfortable upholstered easy chair. The room had a front door and a sliding door on the opposite side that led to a cozy courtyard and a jacuzzi. We would definitely stay again. The property is across the street from Cottage Hospital, a major regional medical center.

Upon checkin I informed the front desk that the thermostat did not work. My mother and I were heading off to thanksgiving dinner on a very cold and rainy night. Upon returning to hotel room at 11:00 we found a portable heater in the living room with a note. The pilot light could not be fixed and the mini heater was provided. The room never reached a temperature above 60 degrees all night long. My mother is 85 and this was a terrible inconvenience. $300 per night for a room with no heat. Ridiculous! They should have moved us to another room when the maintenance person realized he could not fix it. My mother sat with a quilt wrapped around her in the morning shivering. Really bad situation.

I've stayed here several times and have always enjoyed my stay. The decor of the rooms is simple and a little dated, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. My kids really liked the pool and we all enjoyed our meals at the cafe. Now that we live here, we come to the restaurant on occasion. Walking distance to the hospital, but it is a quiet area so there isn't a lot of noise. Not the fanciest hotel in Santa Barbara, but great quality for the price.

The room was cozy and comfortable. Bed was just right. Quiet night. Slept well. No microwave in room, but that was fine. Coffee and tea available at 6am and all day. Close to Cottage hospital. We walked over.

WOW. What waste of money. The outdated room from the 70's has not been changed or remodeled. The bed was horrifically hard and lumpy- might as well sleep on the floor or in my car. The wall paper in the bathroom was crumbling, the ugly brown tile and shower doors had to go. The AC unit will keep you up all night with its loud VROOM. No breakfast, no parking. STAY AWAY.

My wife and I stayed there last night. Beautiful, charming character location and would stay again. Special shout out to desk manager Danica. On check in we had some issues that were outwith her control. However she smartly and calmly took care of everything. Thanks Danica..we'll see you again!

We were here for only 1 night but enjoyed our stay. Check-in was efficient & easy. Lots of free parking. Our room had 2 double beds with usual amenities, refrigerator, small table, etc. Free wifi. Nice grounds with pool & hot tub but it was a bit too cool & windy for us to enjoy. Sliding doors in our room opened to a nice green space. Located in a residential area it is about a 35-45 minute walk to downtown Santa Barbara, but we like to walk. There is an on-site restaurant. Would stay here again.

We stayed here on our way back from visiting the Paso area. Just stayed for one evening in order to visit some of the wineries in the Santa Barbara area. The staff at check-in was very friendly and efficient. The grounds of the hotel were well-kept, and it's in a nice neighborhood, near a medical center. Had a king size bed in a room on the first floor. Bathroom seriously needed to be updated. The shower is OK if you are a small to medium size person. Room was pretty clean. Very disappointed that a Best Western plus did not provide breakfast included in the hotel stay. There is a restaurant on the grounds which is pretty decent. The evening we went in for dinner, service was pretty slow.

We had an enjoyable stay ! the hot tub was nice, not as warm as most but very nice still ! the line in the shower was perfect for our wet suits overnight ! Staff were pleasant, and it was close to where we had to be in the morning ! Bed was very comfy !

Out of date furnishing. Feels like my grandmother's place with gold chairs. Uncomfortable bed with small pillows. No microwave. And the smallest refrigerators in the world (a small ice chest holds more). Also old door locks which don't work!!! Both of us had to call maintenance to get in our rooms!! Nice but average. No breakfast or water in the lobby. Again NOT worthy of being called a Plus property and certainly not 3 stars.

Even though I am not a Best Western frequent stayer, I give 5 Stars to the WONDERFUL Team of person's who are employed there. They are a super nice group of people who know how much their outstanding customer service means to us. I feel that the day rates are a bit tooo high.......

It's the little things that stand out about this stay. The bird aviary, the sweetness and neatness of the grounds, and the plus of a restaurant attached to a hotel in a residential neighborhood. The price was right, the room comfortable. But it was attention to detail that impressed me. The front desk attendants were friendly and efficient, the servers in the restaurant couldn't be more welcoming, the remote was clean and in a wrapper (!), and apples and cookies were in the room. The room was just a little dated, but charming and spotlessly clean. I felt like they wanted me there. That's a good feeling.

Found this hotel to be in close proximity to our reason for traveling to Santa Barbara. The hotel is a little dated though. But, it's comfortable. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant had good food.

We 3 ladies loved this property. It provided us with a locale that was central to our visit. The pool was lovely; we played mah jongg around it with other friends. The negative part came on night 2 when the smoke detector battery died/started chirping at 2:00am. I finally called the lobby and the night manager came to our room about 10 minutes later to swap in a fresh battery. We received half off of one night's stay as compensation for disrupted sleep. Also breakfast coupons to café next door (which has amazing food, btw). All in all, recommend this property with affordable rates, clean rooms, good wifi, etc. Also A/C has a "sleep" setting so it runs continuously, varying the A/C on portion but not too loud so it provides better sleep while staying cool.

My doctor is at the Sansum Clinic and this Best Western is across the street. I love to stay here because it is close, clean and the restaurant in right there. A very safe place to stay and everyone is especially nice.

Part of this hotel is housed in what appears to be a former apartment complex on Bath/Los Olivos Street. We stayed in two rooms for two nights on an early September weekend. We had the King Bed rooms, which are King Beds with a Queen Sofa Pullout Couch. There are two separate rooms—a bedroom and a living room, with a full kitchen. The layout is great and can accommodate four adults without a problem. The rooms were very clean, even down to the individual cleaned and bagged tv remotes. The bathrooms were spotless and well stocked. Air conditioning was a single wall unit in the living room area, so if we wanted cold air in the bedroom we had to leave the separating door open. Heat was available in both rooms. Because it's Santa Barbara, hotel prices are inflated. This hotel is definitely not a budget option. Friday night was $287.10 and Saturday night was $305.10 and that was with a AAA discount. For comparison purposes, that is 1/3 more than a Hyatt Regency in Orange County for a Friday night. So, for a Best Western, those rates are high. For Santa Barbara, however, they're in line with rates at comparable area hotels. I researched several options online and BW Encina Inn and Suites was actually on the lower end of the scale for similar properties on this particular weekend. The jacuzzi is in a strange spot, away from the pool and near to the rooms. Overall, the part of the hotel we stayed in had a funky, apartment-complex layout. It did t really bother us, but having to negotiate latched picket fences while hauling bags might be tough for less mobile folks, or seniors. Parking can be tight in the hotel lot, but there was also some street parking not far from our rooms. The front desk staff was efficient, if not overly friendly. While we were checking in, two of them seemed to be having a disagreement of some kind. Still, they were professional with us. Housekeeping was excellent. To repeat—our rooms were well cleaned. The sheets, pillowcases, blankets and towels were spotless. The sheets and blanket for the pullout sofabed were clean and bagged in the closet. I stopped at the front desk on our second night and requested more towels and they were delivered before I made it back to the room. All in all, the Best Western Encina Inn and Suites was comfortable and clean. Having two separate rooms and a full kitchen was very nice. The option to refrigerate groceries and cook meals is good for families. That is always a consideration for our family when we travel. A negative for us was the jacuzzi placement. Because it's so close to the rooms, our young kids had to walk next to it a number of times, exposing them to a lot of bare skin and some tattoos that weren't especially age-appropriate. Just want to mention that, for the families who would rather avoid it. Request a room away from the jacuzzi side. There is a very nice cafe attached to the hotel. The Live Oak Cafe. Worth a visit. We had breakfast there and it was very good.

My friend and I were in town for a concert and chose to stay here. Room was very nice and had a living room, full kitchen, dining room table, separate bedroom with two comfortable beds and a roomy bathroom. The apples and ice cold waters int he room for free were a nice touch since it was so hot outside. The air conditions were ice cold. Nice! TV volume went up loudly which is a plus. Spacious. Parking is tight but this is Santa Barbara! We were fortunate to get a really good spot near the room. No free breakfast but there is a nice breakfast place attached to the hotel. Convenient enough fo Uber to get there quickly. Front desk staff very friendly and efficient. Coffee and apples in the lobby. Robes in the closet but we were noi there long enough to use. Only problem is the tub when taking a shower drained slowly and was stopped up making it kind of gross for the person taking the shower second. Loved the full size refrigerator in the kitchen.

I have a family member currently receiving treatment at the near by, almost across the street, Cottage Hospital. The hotel is clean, comfortable and is well cared for. Location is semi residential. I felt the parking was safe-hotel issues "permits" to place on your dash so they can identify if other unauthorized cars are using their spaces. Staff were all friendly, courteous. and responsive. I have already booked a return stay.

With a warm welcome, the Encina Inn & Suites hotel check-in greeters were eager to share the 411 on all the local hot spots including the adjacent restaurant. A quick tour of the Live Oak Cafe on the way to our room was inspiring enough to ensure our return for happy hour and a brunch. The entire experience reminded me very much like that of a mid-western, old school, back in the day family-owned business and a familiarity where everyone knows your name and seems genuinely interested in you as a person. The vibe was refreshing, felt downright down home. It was very inviting, a stark contrast to the cold ‘hurry up and check ‘em in to get through the line' attitude in so many other hotels around the country. At Road & Travel Magazine, we were delighted to find such a unique experience.

I LOVE this hotel. It's clean, quiet, restful and tastefully decorated. We had a room with a small balcony overlooking the pool.The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and polite. Although this hotel does not include breakfast, there is a pleasant restaurant on site which is open all day. We were only here one night, but I wanted to stay longer. We will be back!

Cute place, nice rooms. A bit outdated (bathrooms) but overall quite nice. Staff was very friendly. Location was a bit out of the way, but it was very easy to get to. I loved how cute it was, and overall pretty quiet. Wish I could have stayed longer!

Stayed at one of the spacious, comfortable and well-equipped 2 bedroom townhouses, which had absolutely everything we needed, for 3 nights late July. Loved the air-con and the pool. Close to shops, plenty of parking and a great base for exploring Santa Barbara. Staff were very friendly and helpful too! Would love to return one day

A very good value hotel for what is a very pricey Santa Barbara area. Rooms are basic but very clean and functional. They have a great restaurant on premises (privately operated)... and free parking. Free coffee (and good) in the lobby every morning. The location is Ok but you'll need a car and/or rise sharing services to get around. But worth it for the price - relative to the high prices of SB

Fine hotel for one night. Rooms are not so big and beds small (if you want to use them with 2 adults and 2 kids). Smal but nice swimmingpool. About 2 km from the beach and nice shops. Quite area so no external noise. Nice people, payed parking. Very good restaurant for breakfast, lunch and diner. Overall nice for one night when travelling further. For a longer stay I would prefer a bit more comfort and closer to where it is happening.

second time staying here. first time my son left his baby blankets and when we got home which is 4hrs away my son noticed they weren't packed in the bags. So I called the hotel and they found my son's baby blankets and sent them to me, these blankets are my son's comfort zone so it really meant a lot to him.

We needed a one night stay in Santa Barbara for 6 people (3 adults, 3 kids). We really liked the huge 2 bedroom apartment. It was really close to the main drag of SB and other nice places for breakfast. The front desk was friendly and helpful. It had tons of space. Parking was a little awkard but a good option that won't break the bank!

Really enjoyed staying here for two nights. Really good location, we walked to the Mission and also right down to the pier. Staff were very friendly, we had a couple of issues with the toilet and they came straight away to fix it. Parking was free which was a bonus as all the other hotels we stopped in during our road trip were very expensive! We stayed in a suite which was lovely and spacious. Shower was a little disappointing as it wasn't very powerful. Definitely would stop here again!

Our stay was excellent from beginning to end. The staff at the front office was very professional and informative. The cleaning staff was most helpful, kind, informative and professional. The location was great, the facility was clean and the experience was very positive.

Hotel was clean and nice looking. We only had breakfast in the restaurant but it was good and wait staff was very nice. Room was clean and spacious. The property is off State St. and not walking distance to the beach but we took an Uber with no problem.

This Best Western is quaint and cozy. It's like staying in a little cottage. The surrounding area is quiet but close enough to that Santa Barbara has to offer! There is a lovely restaurant that serves delicious food with healthy options.

Best Western is the best. I stay at the Best Western Encina in Santa Barbara once a year and more if ended. The location is ideal and within walking distance to Sansum Clinic in Santa Barbara. The restaurants are fabulous and so much to see.

Holiday interrupted by illness ended up in hospital. At advise of Case Manager went to hotel. Their van picked me up DANICA who was at check in then took me to my room settled water in refrigerator. Cafe with room service was lifesaver. They checked in on me after picking up tray. In front desk area cookies, fruit excellent coffee were life savers. Stayed extra day when I left their van took me to train station. He walked me and luggage inside. Definitely coming back when well

Always pleasant staff, very clean, goes out of their way to go out of their way for you , enjoy my stay here , close to alot of areas, and visiting santa barbara is just beautiful , They go out of their way to fulfill my request and I have not been disappointed

Stayed here for two nights and would easily stay again. Room size was good. Comfortable bed, and everything you need during a hotel stay is good. Breakfast was not included but the attached restaurant serves delicious food! Hotel service was extremely good! Pool area was nice

It was nice and refreshing. Quiet. Management and staff were amazing! Close to freeway and easy to find all the things surrounding you that you may want to do. 40 min from Solvang. Bout 10 or less from the wharf.

My stay was adequate for my needs as I was having an early morning outpatient procedure at the nearby hospital and was from out of town. It is an older building that the management has obviously been diligent about keeping updated. I did miss having a microwave in the room as i have specific dietary needs that make it difficult to eat out at places like the restaurant associated with this hotel. Probably would not want to stay here if I were on vacation. But the staff were excellent. (The person above me was a heavy walker and I could hear every move they made.)

I would recommend this hotel as it was very clean, comfortable and in a quiet neighborhood. They do a great job on the grounds and the pool and jacuzzi! They have some covered parking. The room was bright and had two very comfy chairs! The only downside is the lack of towel racks in the bathroom sink and the walls are somewhat thin.

Very Clean and quiet, but a little bit expensive during college graduation season. The restaurant is very convenient with very good service. Location is in downtown, a walk distance to wharf and lots of shopping area.

We loved staying here. The welcome at reception was nice and the room was perfect. Very clean and what was a nice touch was the free fruit and cookies in the room. There was plenty of parking space. What also was a nice touch was the free coffee or juice in the reception area and again there was free apples. There was also laundry facility which we used which was so handy as we were travelling on the road. We also used their whirlpool (jacuzi) and this was great after a long day out sightseeing. They also had a swimming pool which we did not have time to use and next to the hotel was a restaurant - very handy but again, ran out of time to try this place out. My only negative was the lady (american chinese) behind reception. She was very abrupt with me and also when I asked her for washing powder, she said it was 75 cents. So I said could have one so that I could give it to my wife who was waiting in the laundry room, then I would head to my room to get the 75 cents. Her answer was "NO"...did she really think I was going to run off without paying the 75 cents. Very disappointed in her attitude. Apart from this lady, the start was perfect.

After a long day on the road we walked in to an Airbnb disappointment. After cancelling our reservation we were thrilled to land at the Best Western Plus Encina Lodge. What a refreshing place to stay in Santa Barbara. The staff were all wonderful. The room was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a great night's sleep and spent the next day exploring this wonderful city. I highly recommend the BW Plus Encina.

I stayed at this hotel last week and had a pretty good experience. However, the price was high. It is located in a very quiet neighborhood of Santa Barbara, it's mostly business so there isn't much noise at night. The lobby is nice and checking in was easy. The lobby had a little gift shop also. This hotel is very large but there isn't that much parking, my room was on the 2nd floor right above the lobby. The exterior of the hotel is very well kept up. Upon entering my room I was very happy with it, there were two beds and a recliner chair, a desk and tv with a DVD player. Everything inside the room was spotless and nice. The bed was comfortable. The ac/heater was kinda funny it was either too hot or too cold, but I didn't really need it. The only thing that I noticed was the bathroom was kinda funny and not quite as clean as I had expected since everything else was super clean but it wasn't bad. There is no free breakfast like most bed westerns have but there is a restaurant on site. Overall this hotel was very nice and I would probably stay there again if I was ever in need of a hotel in Santa Barbara.

Was extremely pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It really is a “plus” with the small additions of the robes, water and apples in the rooms to the exceptional service. I stayed here twice in a visit to Santa Barbara for a week (weekday and weekend). Customer service remained high on both visits. Stay during the week for considerably cheaper prices. My flight was even three hours behind, and the Best Western Pepper Tree Inn van offered to drop me off. I came to Santa Barbara to attend the funeral of my nearest and dearest and they helped soften the landing. They let me focus on my family while taking care of everything else. Was a highlight of my time in SB. Thank you!

The staff were wonderful. The hotel was immaculate and I always do the white glove test! Everything was better than expected, in fact it was perfect! I would recommend to anyone. We were there during the week. However Santas Barbara hotels seem to double their rates at the weekend and have a two night minimum

At one time this must have been wonderful! “Could be” nice! Nicely laid out property. I appreciated the nice grounds: Pool, spa, patio outside your room. Guest laundry would be useful on a longer stay. We only stayed one night. Room was roomy & comfortable with ez chair and recliner. Very nice! But, had DVD player and tv problems. The room decor is very dated and somewhat “ run down”. Had Plumbing issues.. Spa would not heat up. Toilet wouldn't fully flush ( Yeuk!)They tried and responded promptly to our requests. But could not resolve issues. Nice bar. A modest selection of craft beer on tap tap. Like I said “ COULD BE” nice. They did extend a $ 30 credit for the inconvenience. I would have preferred to pay more and have everything work.

Our get away was very comfortable, cozy, and quiet. We needed a quick visit to Santa Barbara and wanted all our creature comforts and this Best Western Plus had our accommodations completely covered! The management was very professional and courteous upon check in and the room was very clean. A delight was have some fruit and cookies. Very nice!

We stayed here for a birthday weekend with the family. From the moment we arrived the customer service was fantastic!! They let us check in at 1pm!! When they found out it was my birthday we received a complimentary bottle of wine and an upgrade to a bedroom apartment!! Wow!! The location is fantastic. Quick mile walk to downtown SB. Check it out people!!

This hotel is right across the street from Cottage Hospital. No car is needed to get there. The rooms are basic and clean. We stayed there for a month as a family member was in the hospital across the street. There is a small pool although we did not use it.

Absolutely wonderful staff. Caring, attentive and resourceful. Our daughter was in labor at Cottage Hospital and the staff got us rooms on short notice and just really took care of everything so we could focus on supporting our daughter and meeting our new grandson. The facility itself has a charming fairytale quality with Bavarian style architecture and well-considered landscaping. Our standard two double bed room was large, comfortable and well appointed with everything a traveler could want: refrigerator, microwave, DVD player, coffee maker and even robes. We really enjoyed our stay.

We had to fly out to California for my husbands surgery, so naturally we were already stressed. The staff at Best Western Plus Encina Lodge and Suites were AMAZING. They made us feel comfortable, valued, and important (not just a number). I highly recommend this location to anyone traveling!! The grounds were really pretty and the pool area was so nice to just sit outside at. Very clean and comfortable. Nice and quiet location perfect for relaxing or in our case recovering from surgery.

We've been staying in Encina Inn for the past 6 years now every time we come back to Santa Barbara for our family holidays. I took a risk the first time around just by looking online for a monthly rental and reserving with Helen over the phone and now we are hooked! The staff is super accommodating, nice amenities, we love their Townhouse suite the most!

Our experience mirrors the other positive reviews here. We loved the place and would stay again. The room was large and very nicely decorated. The hotel is in a charming, quiet residential neighborhood. Just a few things you might want to look out for, especially if you're used to the "usual" things at a Best Western: Your stay does not include a continental breakfast. Our room did not have a microwave, but did have a fridge. If you're mobility-impaired, ask about room access. The Jesmary Building requires climbing one or two narrow, steep stairways. The other buildings all look "normally" accessible.

Best, most accommodating staff of any hotel I have ever been to. I have stayed here many times over the last few years. Small, almost "a Boutique Style Inn" but if you want luxury, go somewhere else and pay top dollar if you like. I prefer staying at this friendly, homey, home-away-from-home hideaway any day! I really love that even the outside is always manicured to perfection with the most gorgeous flowers planted everywhere. They have been doing upgrades, room by room, over the past few years and adding special touches while staying very affordable! but my #1 choice at any price.

If you want to enjoy a comfortable stay and friendly service look no further. This place is excellent and even has a full service restaurant. If you have a medical appointment at Cottage Hospital this is the place to stay!!

This hotel is part of the Best Western Plus collection, and as such it has larger, more upscale rooms and better amenities (but no included breakfast at this one). Rooms are very well kept. Front desk staff are friendly, well-trained and efficient. The attached restaurant, the Live Oak Café, is a gem. There are some other good eateries nearby. Downtown is not walkable from here. The parallel street, de la Vina, is one-way, making getting around in this neighborhood a bit awkward. I filled out the BW feedback form for this hotel, and almost immediately got a personal message from the manager thanking me for taking the time. I'm impressed.

Loved the comfortable room in a mostly quiet, very attractive hotel. However, would have appreciated a heads-up that the bedside table lamps turn off automatically after 30 minutes (thought it was a malfunction) and can be restored by making movements. Similarly, bathroom light turns on automatically when you enter, but this is not necessarily a good thing at night, inasmuch as it could disturb a sleeping partner and it produces night blindness as you grope your way back to bed. Would have appreciated instructions as to how to disable this function.

The hotel is conveniently located- easy enough to walk into town. The restaurant was great - open all day with a variety of options and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and helpful. Extra amenities - a room with a full kitchen, fruit and cookies left in the room, a small aviary, a beautiful pool area, even a hair salon on the premises.

Nice, clean and reasonably priced property for a group stay in Santa Barbara. Quick weekend away for "girls" weekend. Close enough to State St. and nice to have an apartment property for a group of 6.

We've been coming to the Encina for years now, and travel to Santa Barbara often. It's our hotel of choice when not with our dog. It's a calm, beautiful place to stay; we can stare at the Zebra Finch aviary forever, eat often at the onsite restaurant which is clean and delicious, and revel in it's tranquil pool & jacuzzi surrounded by lush gardens. The only thing I would criticize is the odd lack of towel hooks in the bathrooms. A small thing, but annoying just the same. The best part of the stay is always the staff: friendly, attentive and patient. I always enjoy seeing to Rowe on the night shift - the consummate professional in his job, but always friendly and fun to talk to. During our last visit had a really helpful conversation with Danica and Devonne, both generous with their advice on housing options for my daughter when she attends college in SB. Always enjoy seeing Akia too - again, a real professional and a really wonderful human being, always ready to help. Such a wonderful place to unwind, relax and become human for a break from hectic San Francisco!

Perfect place to visit Sansum Clinic-can walk right over from hotel-the 12:00 checkout time is really helpful! We have stayed at this location many times and it always works perfectly for hospital stays and Dr/Clinic visits. Nice large room with recliner and extra chair, plus mini refrigerator and microwave are great items to have available. The restaurant in conveniently located and food was great!

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights just after New year's. The place was quiet, clean and comfortable. We particularly loved the restaurant on site. The cleaning staff was very attentive. Only reason i am not giving a perfect rating is because the rooms need updated.

Excellent service cleanliness is very important tp me and it met my needs. I had requested several items for my room and everything was set. This is definitely a great place to stay. its within walking distance to the hospital

We had a 2 bedroom suite for our family to celebrate Christmas and stayed 4 nights. We cooked half of the time and ate out the other half. The hotel staff was attentive, welcoming, and seemed to care about our experience. The rooms were clean, the kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans, plates, cups, toaster and books to read in the room. We had plenty of room and our adult kids brought their bikes and biked the Santa Barbara area. Good restaurants and the best ice cream shop were near by. We plan to return!

Close to freeway great for a overnight stay not far from state street shopping and restaurants our favorite restaurant is Hatrrys Cafe located in a shopping complex a little hideaway favorite with the locals great bar and leather booths

We stayed in a suite and while the room was spacious, the bathroom was rather small and the bedroom was more of a hallway. The bathroom had one sink and very little counter space. This might be enough space for a single, barely, but it was impossible for a couple. There was zero room to spread out our toiletries. Also be warned, the toilet is a standard home depot special. If you need some extra room on the seat you are better off using the restroom in the restaurant. The bedroom, being more of a hallway, has an odd layout with the dresser placed along the outer wall and the TV facing the doorway door. Unless you rotate the TV 90 degrees and let it hang over the edge of the dresser you cannot watch from the bed. We eat breakfast at the Café and it was very good. Prices were reasonable for Santa Barbara and the quality was there. If you stay, check out the aviary. It's a 35 year old landmark although the hotel doesn't make it known. Also, you cannot watch the birds from inside the restaurant while dining. They have some really beautiful stain glass panels with birds but someone has decided to hang two panels directly in front of the aviary window.

My husband and I have been traveling to Sansum Clinic for years and always drive to and from our appointments. This trip we needed a hotel stay, looking for something close we chose this hotel hoping not to have to drive so much. The address makes it seem like its right around the corner when in actuality it is right across the parking lot of Sansum making it fabulously easy. And with the onsite restaurant and bar there was no need to get back into the car and drive till sadly it was time for check-out. I say sadly time for check-out because our room had two amazing comfy chairs positioned right in front of the sliding glass door going out to the balcony. We were able to sit in these chairs and watch the rain coming down while we read, then in the evening when it was time for some tv we were able to turn the tv to continue to sit in our comfy chair just like being at home!The hotel is older but has ben remodeled with updated amenities and it looks fabulous!

We've spent at BW Encina 6 days. Have to say that it was the worst hotel from Best Western family we have ever visited. Our room was outdated, with awful smell, tea/cofee maker produced only lukewarm water- no chance to prepare tea. Generally staff was rather unfriendly except one Receptonist ( man in his fifties). All in all overpriced.

A really nice surprise for us. They are located about a mile from the action of State street and that was just fine with us. tons of parking - room clean and well equipped. The staff is friendly and didn't panic when we were 30 minutes late checking out. nice little cafe on site.

After first, finally finding my room, located under a stairwell, the room was dark, very dated and not up to the general great standards I've come to expect out of this chain. After the first night of a week stay, I moved to a smaller but updated room in the front. I've stayed at this hotel many times with my in-laws and always had gotten a room near the front. Those have been updated and make this a 4-star quality hotel. But I have been assigned a back room twice and they both leave much to be desired. I will refuse to stay in those rooms in the future until upgrades have been made.

Needed lodging for attending a family wedding. Wanted to be close to wedding venue and reception so this fit the bill. Was expensive fin my opinion but realize this is California. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Shopped the little gift shop in lobby. Did eat at restaurant and though it was convenient, I wasn't impressed with my food. Beautiful property and liked the separate buildings--ours had convenient parking underneath. I enjoyed the sunshine in the lawn area outside our building. I would say our room was a bit dated but it was a large room. Liked the sink and counter outside of the bathroom. I really enjoyed Santa Barbara and the ease of getting around in our rental car. Even though this wasn't by the downtown shopping or beach, I liked the location in the quiet neighborhood.

Fairly dated but pleasant room. Large room for the price paid which was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only real complaint was the lighting in the room was a bit dingy. Decent location, recommended for value stay in Santa Barbara.

The attached restaurant is good, the whole hotel is very clean, and the staff are pleasant and helpful. That said, the rooms are very tired. the entire motel area needs an upgrade. Also, I was on the ground floor (no elevator and I have a bad knee so couldn't drag up my suitcase), and I don't like places where a car pulling into its parking spot shines headlights directly into my room. And remember that everything in Santa Barbara is expensive, so it seems like you are paying for an expensive room but not getting one.

Checked in after a long day of travel from NY the room we were given was not even close to the pictures on the hotel website ours was old and dingy the walls are paper thin , the 70s bathroom was tiny every other balcony has tile ours had dirty carpet , the outdoor light performed a disco effect of blinking all night that kept our children awake , the refrigerator made a horrible noise every few minutes and the bed room bed side lamp also blinked if you walked on the opposite side of room - we kept it off after that thinking it was an electric short . We had to stay but if I could have found availablilty else where we would have left immediately. Pool was kept immaculate everyday the laundry area was always very clean grounds kept very nice and neat

Welcomed to hotel with your choice of coffee or lemonade and cookies. Charming, clean, and quaint with a Latin vibe. Our room has a nice basket with fruit and snacks and bottled waters. Rooms were spread out kind of far from office, pool, and restaurant.

We love this establishment - do not mess up your reservations though! The attached restaurant is very awesome you should eat and buy cookies daily. Very Hawaiian styled. This place would not please the super picky but you would be happy if you like a relaxed family place.

As a family of four adults and two children we had adjoining rooms. Stayed for two nights and would have stayed longer if we had time. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable and what was nice that they even cleaned the TV control and put it in a litttle bag (nice touch as they are very unhygienic). The pool was lovely. Nice coffee selection in reception. We had breakfast in the restaurant and there was a very good menu. Parking easy. Nice little birds in the aviary. Would recommend this lovely hotel

My partner and I staying here for one night to break up a drive from LA to San Fran. Check in was flawless, and the General Manager who checked us in was so lovely. Seemed honest and genuine, and gave us so much info about Santa B, where to eat and gave us a helpful map. Our room was really spacious and clean. We used the pool which was lovely, and nice to have a pool where you can't touch the floor for a change! They ordered a taxi for us into the town, and we walked back which didn't actually take too long. Was gutted to leave as the hotel and area were so lovely, could have had a few days here. Would be happy to stay here again if we are ever in the area.

We stayed on the second floor overlooking the pool. Our room was a good size for 3 of us and the beds were comfortable. The room was quiet and air-conditioned. Having a safe and small fridge was very useful. Plenty of free parking. It was a bit of a walk to get to the main city area with restaurants, etc but it was a nice neighbourhood to walk through.

I was very disappointed to learn that they charge you to check in early. I have never heard of a hotel doing this and I think it is terrible customer service. If you have rooms that are sitting ready it should be a service to your customers....especially when they are paying $200 + a night. I will not stay here again.

We arrived after 5.00pm but had to wait an hour for our room to be ready. The staff were very nice and apologetic, and offered us towels so we could go and swim. But after a long day travelling we just wanted to flop in our suite. The suite itself was ok. It was clean and comfortable although the ac unit was incredibly noisy. We had two bedrooms and a living/dining/kitchen area which was great. We stayed two nights and whilst it was good value for money I don't think I'd stay again.

Nice place to stay. We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and it was just perfect. Friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms, it was quiet, and there is a parking. The room was well equipped including free water bottles and fruits. The bar/restaurant is great tasty food for breakfast and good service. Use uber to get to the beach it will take you less than 10 minuets.

We have stayed here for at least 15 years and spend about 8 weekends per year here. It is clean, comfortable, quiet at night, and friendly staff. Multiple rooms to choose from such as 2 story condos, two and three-bedroom plans, single rooms, kitchens, etc. I love the multi-room condos or two tory option because you have a kitchen (fully stocked.) There is a restaurant with bar service. Is it 5-star? No, but it has decent breakfast and lunches for pool days. I like it. The pool is nice and can get crowded with the kids on busy summer days, but it's still pretty relaxing and chill. The hot tub is separate and private and seats about 6 or 8 comfortably. It's away from the pool so you can really relax. On-site washer and dryers. Great location. Easy access to freeway and straight down State for some touristy action.

Clean hotel but needs updating throughout. Good swimming pool area. In the apartment style family rooms there was an oven and full kitchen however crockery and utensils weren't provided which is confusing. Taps were incorrectly labelled in one of the bathrooms we stayed in, which resulted in cold showers

The staff is very friendly and gave us a lot of information about Santa Barbara. There are a lot of parking slots available and you can get the best coffee of the city in the reception of the hotel. The rooms are very clean and the WiFi is very fast. The pool and the whirlpool are both very clean and it is very relaxing to be inside of them.

Nice quiet street, clean room with comfy beds. Staff was great and the restaurant was great for breakfast. Wish the pool was a bit larger and had more chairs. My biggest complaint is that the rooms do not have a fan and they really need one - Santa Barbara doesn't need AC much in the evenings, a fan would do but every night we had to turn it on since the room had no cross breeze.

Our second stop on the annual family trip up the coast this week we stayed at this amazing little jewel in a great location. Our room was a cozy apartment style room. Full size living area with kitchen and breakfast nook, 2 full size bedrooms and a full bathroom. The property is beautifully landscaped, and impeccably maintained. The staff is so friendly and goes above and beyond for their guests. There is a gift shop, a restaurant and a salon on the property. There are also a gym, jacuzzi, pool area and sun decks too. Definitely coming back here!

I stayed here for one night with my teen daughter in mid-July. I had a meeting and we had a college tour at UCSB scheduled for later. The hotel was well located for both things, about a 2 minute drive from both the 101 and the main drag of State Street. We had a room with a king bed and balcony overlooking the pool. The room was good-sized and the balcony was pleasant in the evening. We used the pool and jacuzzi in the afternoon after arriving, and both were well maintained and a good temperature. The room itself wasn't fancy, but it was fine. It was humid out that night, so we needed to use the a/c, which was kind of noisy and not that effective. I would guess this isn't an issue most of the year, since Santa Barbara is pretty temperate. When I got home, I realized that I had forgotten a pillow I'd brought with me. I called the hotel, and they not only mailed it, but I received it the next day! I would recommend this hotel.

Booked this at the last minute and we were very pleasantly surprised with our choice. Clean rooms, nice pool area, friendly staff and ample parking. It's about a 30 minute walk to the main drag of State Street or an $8 Uber. There's a few restaurants around the block which serve good breakfasts too.

We stayed here for 2 nights in July as part of our honeymoon. This hotel is a little way out of the town centre but provides good-value accommodation and the walk into town is very beautiful so never a problem for us. Our room was upgraded on our arrival and we had a lovely, large room with garden area that we could walk to the pool from. Complimentary daily bottles of water was also very handy. Bathrooms are a bit dated decor wise but clean and had everything you need! The pool area was very nice and popular with plenty of places to relax in. Plenty of on-site free parking also. A HUGE thank-you to Ramon at the front desk, who upgraded our room and gave us a bottle of wine for our honeymoon. He also provided us with all the information we needed about Santa Barbara and what to see and restaurants to go to. This was very helpful and allowed us to make the most of our short time here. He was amazing! Santa Barbara was one of the most beautiful places we have been to and definitely want to come back soon and will stay in this hotel again 100%!

Ramon is THE BEST reason to come to this amazing hotel. His customer service along with Victor allowed our family to feel like we were "home away from home." Hotel has nice curb appeal, flowers and shrubs throughout grounds which looked lovely. Reception staff very helpful and friendly. Plenty of off road parking and on site restaurant for drinks and snacks. Hotel room comfortable, bed very comfy, plenty of storage, free safe, fridge and good shower. Local area very picturesque and easy to walk into town centre from hotel.

Good location. Well located. Nice room. We had a corner room in the back. Comfortable bed. Free parking. Sold out both nights we stayed. The staff were wonderful. Room was clean. Our room had a little kitchen we didn't use. Large bathroom. No problems. Breakfast was not included. But we found interesting places to eat both mornings.

This hotel is well located in Santa Barbara. The size and comfort of the room are ok, they offer a jacuzzi but the shower could be a little better. And the pillows could be much better... but I have problems with pillow in hotels. As they don't offer breakfast.. go to The Daily Grind... walking distance from the hotel.

Great hotel and great restaurant! The breakfast menu has something for everyone. The Bacon Waffles were fabulous! The staff was very friendly and there is free shuttle service to and from the airport which is very convenient!

We stayed for 2 nights and it was a nice stay. The hotel is split more like a motel/apartments. The room was a good size, comfortable bed and large bathroom/dressing area. We had a small balcony (not much of a view but nice to have an outdoor space). The air con unit is a bit old and noisy but does work well, you just wouldn't keep it on overnight. We didn't have much interaction with the staff since we didn't pass through reception apart from checking in and out but they were polite and efficient. Location is good, close to downtown and in what seems to be a nice, quiet neighbourhood. Overall, we had a good stay here, a good base to explore Santa Barbara.

We stayed in the 2-bedroom suite, which was very spacious and more like an apartment than a hotel room. The grounds are lovely although parking was a bit tight for our mini-van and a late check in. The suite had 2 beds, a kitchen and family room. It was very clean but the upholstered furniture and tile was dated. They had lots of nice perks in the room like apples, water bottles, hard candy. The rate was a very good value for Santa Barbara, where even Motel 6 is over $200 a night.

I've been making this 4 1/2 hr drive, one way, to Santa Barbara Sansum Clinic since 2005. I've stayed in other Hotels until last month when I found out about this Best Western Encinia hotel. Two of the most wonderful, amazing & caring people just checked me in. I can not even begin to say how much I appreciate you Danica & Ramon. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your sweet conversation and gift. Almost forgot to mention the comfort and cleanliness of our room. Your employees do an amazing job!

Great staff from moment of check in Thank you Roe for directions to nearby Trader Joe's.. Very comfy room with complimentary treats fresh fruit water and robes. Nice bathroom with a handy magnifying mirror, I was there only one night for business and wished I could of stayed longer. I would love to go back with some friends and use the pool area. Very nice to have a restaurant on the property.

You know the door that connects to the room next to you? There was a gap between the floor and the door bottom almost 2 inches! I could get down and see peoples feet. I forgot the room number, but it was on the second floor and near the corner of the building, and for two weeks they stuck every family with kids next to me. MOST annoying was the lights were on timers, so every ten minutes I'd have to jump up, run to the door and wave at the sensor. The place was clean and the parking was extremely cramped.

We stayed at the BW Encina Inn 4/14-4/16. We requested upstairs & a King room. Our request was accommodated. There's many extra touches at this property! Fruit & candy even in the room! Older property but well maintained. Coffee & tea also in the Reception area & a gift shop. A great cafe on property that does full breakfast, lunch & dinner, plus happy hour! A few blocks to stroll to the beach. Staff was very engaging!

It located at quite neighborhood but also quote convenient, 1+ mile away to downtown and 10-15 minutes drive to pretty much most attractions, I ran to the beach every morning and quite enjoyable experience. The room is clean and comfortable, only complaint is there are some odor(from the carpet?) in the first ~15 minutes when we walk into the room.

Our 7 month old son had surgery and we wanted to stay close to the hospital just in case any issues arose. We decided to stay here since it was 100 yards away from the hospital and it was great! Very clean! Hotel staff was very accommodating and helpful! We will be staying here anytime we go back down to Santa Barbara.

While this hotel is not fancy or on the water, the rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet. Santa Barbara offers cheap parking around town. So parking was free at this hotel, and it was easy and cheap around town. We were greeted by Ramon who was so kind, welcoming and informative. He gave us milk & cookies at 5:30 after our check in. The lobby always had fresh coffee. The on-site Restaurant offered a unique cuisine with an Asian flair, and great desserts. Ramon gave us Restaurant recommendations for Brophys on the harbor which was perfect. Everyone we encountered at this hotel was friendly. This hotel is a cluster of 2 story buildings and each room has its own entry from outside.

I have stayed at this property 3 times recently. I am typically a hotel snob and prefer the higher end properties. I feel that for the area and accommodations this is a good value. Clean rooms, nicely appointed and friendly staff.

Have stayed here several times, as my daughter attends UCSB. Each time we have stayed we've been pleased with the cleanliness of rooms, location and the attentive staff. We will definitely be staying here again and I would recommend this place to friends and family

I have to say of all the places we've stayed, this room had by far the cleanest-smelling bed sheets we've ever experienced. What bliss!! Great location in down-town, walking distance from coffee shops and restaurants.

Very comfortable, reasonably priced hotel with loads of amenities (pool, spa, coffee and tea in a warm and cozy lobby on a rainy day, friendly and efficient service staff, good on-sight restaurant), in a beautiful neighborhood of Santa Barbara. We plan to stay here next time we're in Santa Barbara.

You would not even know it's a Best Western (not that there's anything wrong with that). The restaurant is fresh and delicious, and the staff is so friendly - especially the gentleman who checked me in back in January. Ramone? His family used to live in LA, but his mom didn't want to raise her children there so she brought the family to Santa Barbara. I hope I have his name right because, whereas everyone was friendly and kind, he went the extra step. He knew that I was visiting for medical reasons, and he wanted to make the experience as stress free as possible for me. Thank you very much

The people here are great. The prices are California, so a bit more than I'd expected, but they did honor a government rate, so that made it more affordable. The proximity to the hospital is fantastic. It's just a block away and so if you're having to be at the Cottages hospital, it's perfect. Staff are friendly and super helpful. we were there three nights and they were so flexible and helpful with us in getting rooms for me and my sisters while my brother was in hospital. The hotel itself is more like a motel with all outside entrances to the rooms, cars park right outside the doors to the rooms (not my favorite feeling for a hotel). The rooms, though are really very nice, they have kitchens in them, but they vary appreciably by size and cost the same depending on number of beds, so ask how big a room is before booking. We were in rooms 242 and 244 I believe and 244 was appreciably nicer. The pool is nice, hot tub is set aside from the pool, and is hot enough, but a little sketchy, it was OK, but not great, made me wonder if it was really sufficiently cleaned. The way to get from the rooms to the hot tub involves walking across the parking lot, which is not great, but I was glad that they had a hot tub, it was very relaxing after an emotional day at the hospital. I did appreciate having the kitchen though I had originally thought that was unnecessary but having the fridge and a way to heat up food proved quite useful. The one thing I'd say is that the chairs were old fashioned, the rest of the place was VERY well updated with great bathroom counters and cute soap dishes. The two chairs in both rooms we were in were mismatched and not particularly attractive. I think that's an easy thing to fix given all the other nice things they've done to the property. Overall a really good stay I'd stay there again for sure.

Cannot figure out why this hotel with small rooms and no breakfast included (the apples in the tray are no acceptable substitute) is so well thought. The room was small and the floor creaky. The price is too high and a short distance you can find another Best Western cheaper and with breakfast included. The morning cleaning crew chatting in the outside connecting passageway was annoying. Yes, the location is good but, for most things you need to get into a car so no fantastic advantage there. This was our only sour note to our two day stay in Santa Barbara and the worse for an extended 14 day trip to California.

If you need to be close to Cottage Hospital this is the place to stay. Christie has the room for you. She is helpful and friendly. Sonia is the best when it comes to room service. Our room was spotless. We have stayed at the Encina Lodge before and again we were not disappointed. By the way...eat at the restaurant attached to the lodge...it is very good....the best oatmeal in town, all the meals are delicious.

We just stayed in Encina Lodge only 1 night but we loved it. Small hotel but very comfortable bed, very clean and well design room, very fragrant body lotions :) and easy to access. I definetely suggest...

My family has stayed at the Encina for three generations. The Staff is fantastic!! Rooms, Gardens, Pool and Hot Tub Areas are all beautiful Restaurant on site is great ! Highly recommend ! Was able to bring our small dogs; a plus when traveling. Good location, clean rooms, pleasant staff. Good value for the money. Could use more sound deadening materials for the courtyard area since it's near a main street...

We had the family rooms with kitchenette which was great for our group (3 adults and 3 children). The pool is nice and it's so close to the city center. We stayed only 3 nights but wish we stayed longer. Rooms were clean, kitchenette not too big but had all we needed.

The hotel itself has a unique set up. The rooms are very clean, and we'll stocked. Refer and coffee maker in each room. If you're a pillow person they have Plenty! Also, your own robe in the closet :)

Stayed here for a work-related event. Very pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel is! The restaurant is very good, too. We usually stay near the wharf when visiting SB, but this is a very nice alternative. Great, friendly staff, too!

This is a very pretty and serene place to go for some rest and relaxtion. It has a pretty and relaxing courtyard pool area and a nice peaceful bird aviary to enjoy and the rooms are very clean and sanitary and come with a little patio or balcony sitting are. A must if you visit Santa Barbara.

This hotel is next to the hospital (which is great just in case...), however, it's not walking distance to the busy part of State Street. That being said, it was a great value for our family. The front desk staff is super nice. Actually, we interacted with Housekeeping and Maintenance and they were great too! The many varieties of coffee all day is a plus. The restaurant was yummy for breakfast. We will definitely be back in the summer to enjoy that pool of theirs!

Loved our stay for a quick getaway in Santa Barbara. Great location for a visit! Would definitely stay here again. Very roomy and comfortable. The amenities were perfect for our girls getaway. Looking forward to the next time.

Excellent property, great room. Potential guests should note that the property is in a residential neighborhood with no other restaurants or stores around and narrow residential streets to navigate to and from the freeway. Also, breakfast is not free. The in-house restaurant, however, is very good. The scallion potatoes with my omelet in the morning were probably the best breakfast potatoes I have ever eaten, and I am 72.

I've stayed in many Best Western Plus hotel locations, and so far, this hotel near downtown Santa Barbara is my favorite! It's clean, nicely set up for comfort, includes all the amenities and many extras, has a wonderful staff, and is in a great location for a quiet and peaceful night while still close to restaurants and the downtown areas.

When our home was placed under mandatory evacuation due to encroaching fires, the Encina came to our rescue by offering a quiet, spacious, pet-friendly room at a discount rate. The accommodations, restaurant, and staff were all great and we're thankful they were there. If you're coming to Santa Barbara to visit, or if you live in Santa Barbara and need to recommend a place to visitors, please consider the Encina. They really care about their neighbors and their city!

We booked two rooms for three nights while we were evacuated from Ojai during Thomas Fire. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. They allowed us to check in early. Our elderly parents had a ground floor room near the handicapped parking spaces. The rooms were clean and comfortable. When our parents had difficulty with the tv at first, the office sent someone promptly to show them how to use it. Under trying circumstances for us due to concern about the fire, we found the Encina Lodge & Suites to be very comfortable.

Under type of trip This trip was for medical surgery as the hospital is across the street. The area is safe and I was able to walk back comfortably at night fromt he hospital . This was also during the fire in Ventura and it was a pleasant place to escape to. The restaurant across the parking lot was very nice and reaonable.

I go to Santa Barbara 3-4 times a year this was the first time at this hotel. It was convenient for access to the Sansum Clinic and I would stay again but this time I would know what to expect. The room was over furnished and very small. The Queen bed seemed like a full it was so small but comfortable. The parking was limited but that is because of the fires in the area there was a lot of fire equipment in the parking area. there is no breakfast offered but there is a restaurant on the property, I did not use the restaurant or bar. The room was next to a utility room it was noisy. It is better then Motel 6 but not as nice as the BW in Goleta.

As titled. Also the power went out for 5 hours during my stay. I asked around to see if this happens often. Apparently it's an issue in the area. Yet still this place had no back up power generators. Just imagine the potential complications associated with it.

Great stay. I would stay here again. Everyone was very helpful, the room was clean and ameneities were great. Walking distance to Cottage Hospital. Functioning internet, small gym, and pool. Cafe looked good and coffee was always available. The oranges in the room were a great touch!

This is a very clean, well-run establishment. The grounds are maintained with plants and trees everywhere. I was traveling with my husband, his mom and our best friend. The 2 bedroom suite was perfect for the 4 of us. We loved the kitchen and large living room that had a large couch and chair for plenty of seating. I was able to take a nap in our room with plenty of quiet and privacy. We all had a great time in our "tree house" suite upstairs and will surely stay there again!

Great location In quiet neighborhood. Lovely pool and nice restaurant on premises. Would definitely stay here again when in Santa Barbara. Nice walking routes to downtown and up the hill to the Mission.

For value, amenities (on site cafe, pool, fresh morning coffee, fruit and water in room, refrigerator) and pleasant surroundings, I'll be staying here over the Kimpton from now on, at about one third the price! I prefer the quiet. The bed wasn't quite as comfy as I like, but it was fine. The room was immaculate, and check in was quick with the charming front desk manager. Well done.

The best customer service out there!! Always a good stay. The only place I stay when I'm in Santa Barbara. The hotel cafe has great food and it's right there. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable, always a good night's sleep. I don't have any negative comments. Nice staff!!

Excellent service and stay in this lovely hotel tucked away near the Cottage Hospital in a charming and safe neighborhood. Everyone was so helpful and supportive during the time we spent at the hospital. The front desk manager was superb in helping us arrange an extended stay because of medical reasons. In all, we ended up staying over a month! I felt so secure and safe staying there during an uncertain time. It meant a lot to me that this lovely hotel was my home base. The restaurant, lounge, and pool are so inviting and comfortable. I was so impressed that I'm returning for a week in December!

My family of 4 stayed at this hotel for one night. We were in town for a wedding. We were all tired after the wedding festivities and decided to forego showers that night. I? was the first one to attempt a shower at 7 AM the next morning.when I? turned on the water in the tub, the water gushed out and along with the big burst of water was a lot of small black ants, some alive and some dead. It was so disgusting. I? went to the front desk to check out and demand a complete refund. The manager on duty hesitated to do it. He gave the excuse that he couldn't reach his boss. I said I? will call the credit card company to stop payment. This is when he finally agreed to issue refund. I? believe it's poor business practice. I? have traveled all over the world and I? have never experienced anything like this.

The BW Encina provided a very comfortable stay following a planned surgery. Everyone is very friendly and caring. Location is also very convenient to hospitals, doctors offices, shopping, restaurants etc. Located in a quiet neighborhood area it is also a great area for walks.

Staff is friendly. Hotel rooms are clean. Hotel furniture/decor/amenities are extremely outdated and in need of updating. Bed was comfortable. Everything worked. Restaurant attached to hotel has great food (try the pancakes and Santa Barbara wrap). Would I stay again? Unlikely, but I would in a pinch.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite, which was more of an apartment than a hotel room (good thing!). Spacious and clean but a little dated inside. The grounds are well cared for and its a 10-15m walk to the shops and restaurants on state street.

Beautiful hotel, service was great, pool and spa were very clean and the restaurant was super convenient. Loved the room besides the beds, those were quite hard for me! Definitely would take another trip there again, had a great time

Stayed here in Nov. 2017 while attending a wedding in town. The hotel was clean and charming but the rooms seemed to be quite small and you could really hear your neighbors quite clearly. I also had issues with the bed as I kept waking up in pain. I travel all over the world for work and stay in many hotels, including other BW properties but this particular bed/location did not work out to well for me. It was hard and uncomfortable. My wife didn't seem to have to many complaints but I was not to happy with it. I was also not to thrilled that the room was rather dark and since the door was on the outside of the hotel, if I opened the curtains to get some light in, everyone walking by can see in the room which I was also not fond of because there seemed to be quite a bit of traffic walking by. I know that the area is a bit pricey also, but I do think that what you get for the price here is not that great but you are also not going to find much cheaper anywhere in town. We did not get this room because of the price though. We chose it because of the proximity to the event we were attending and we have stayed in other properties and had good experiences. I did not think this one was that great for the price you have to pay. I would rather pay a little more and have a bigger room and more comfortable bed.

Overall not impressed given the price we paid. The good: 1) spacious rooms 2) clean 3) friendly and efficient check in and staff. The bad: 1) old plumbing - our toilet keeps running and making noises long after it has flushed. It was like that as soon as we walked in (sounded like someone had just flushed it but had obviously been like that for agesssss) 2) old electrics in the bathroom - all the fans etc sound super rickety and loud 3) paper thin walls - we can clearly hear our neighbours talking next door which is annoying when you are trying to get to sleep at 10.30pm after a long day. I appreciate that we could have raised points 1 and 2 with management but after a long day we were too tired to deal with that for only a 1 night stay and really I think management should be properly checking the rooms before guests stay (via feedback from housekeeping) so that guests don't have to raise these issues after they have already lugged their luggage up to the room.

This particular BW is the best. Glassware vs, plastic cups, sanitary, remote controls, cleanliness, excellent/friendly staff, beautifully landscaped, minutes from downtown/State Street. Reasonable room rates... We WILL stay here again!

We enjoyed the neighborhood location because it was close to wineries, freeway, beaches and walking distance to great neighborhood dining. The room was well maintained, clean and fresh smelling. The staff are inviting and helpful, yet respectful of our privacy. One of my favorite hotels in the BW brand.

We brought our mother's to visit our daughters in college. Great location for family gathering. We could meet at pool or Live Oak Cafe open 7am-9pm. Cafe is great place to grab a bite and recharge also, food is above average breakfast, lunch and dinner (Beer Wine Only). Service of cafe staff and hotel are great, both friendly and attentive. Rooms are clean and comfy, good linens, beds etc. Well appointed extras like complimentary fruit and water. Overall great vibe and friendly smiles from housekeeping and grounds keepers. The property includes multiple buildings for accommodations. This is my 12th visit to Santa Barbara but only my 3rd at Encina Lodge. I don't plan to stay anywhere else in the future.

What a great place! Quaint, quiet and great place. Close to everything and easy to navigate from. LYFT rides will run you between $7 and $10 per trip just about anywhere in the city. Breakfast and the restaurant was amazing, had the bacon fried rice and had to go back and have it then next day as well. french toast was to die for as well. Keep up the great work Encina staff and we will see you soon!

For years we have been going to Santa Barbara, and have stayed in multiple places: Hotels, B n B, Air BnB, but there is nothing to beat This Best Western. The rooms, amenities, and value is truly unbeatable and as nothing is too far in the city the location is well worth the stay.

Excellent hotel, close to downtown Santa Barbara. Near the Santa Barbara mission, Paseo Nuevo mall, the historic business district and within 40 minutes driving to Solvang. The beach is minutes away with plenty of public parking. Quiet rooms, comfortable beds and good internet connection. Restaurant onsite. Highly recommend for your next visit to Santa Barbara.

This was our "home away from home" while attending to my Mom while she was in the hospital. I couldn't have asked for a more accommodating and compassionate staff, they surrounded us with their care, making a difficult situation so much more comfortable. Thank you to Ramon and to the entire staff at the hotel, I will never forget you!

Due to error in registration, BE management did not even care to acomodate any offering to minimize the cost. Rather, they overcharged for additional night. I used BW in most of my trips, but will never use them again.

My wife and I stayed along with another couple stayed in the Townhouse suite (room 248). This was also move-in weekend for UCSB (September 23-24). We were forced to pay an absurd amount because of the UCSB move-in weekend $381 per night. All rooms were booked and as were most hotels that weekend. When we checked into the hotel at the front desk they immediately asked for our credit card to pay for the full stay when this was not explained when we reserved this 9 months before. When we got into our room it looked like no one had stayed in the room for some time. When we entered the room we noticed that it had not been cleaned in some time as well because there were spider webs in most corners with spiders in them. The light in the kitchen flickered like we were at a rave. When we went upstairs we noticed the same in the rooms with spiders and webs in all the corners. The most concerning thing was the smoke detector in the room had no battery in it and was hanging open. Had we only used the room for basically sleeping for 4-6 hours because of wedding festivities I would have left the hotel. I did not have time to search for another hotel, thus we were stuck. The main reason I will never stay at another Best Western is the customer service. I spoke with the 'customer care' people and they apologized for the hotel accommodations and offered me $150. When I declined that offer they said they would reach out to the hotel personally and have them contact me with 7 business days. When I never heard from them after 2 weeks, I called back and spoke to another 'customer care' person. They said that is an "internal" issue and they will handle internally. Meanwhile I asked what they plan on doing to compensate my horrible experience, they offered me a final offer of $200. They told me that was the final offer and no one would be reaching back out to me. After waiting 2 weeks and filling out the "Survey" they sent me I called back and was basically hung up on. The 'customer care' person kept interrupting me saying they won't be doing anything take it or leave it on the $200. I find that Best Western as a corporate company wouldn't even compensate 1 full nights stay when their hotel not only was dirty, but I'm sure would not meet safety inspections. I did not take any photos because I'm not a high school kid nor was I using profanity in my complaint. I did not think a hotel would not compensate for their error which I submitted the day I checked out.

Close to hospital & also downtown. Varied size rooms, updated & very clean. Restaurant on site has greatly improved in menu selection & ambiance. Hotel staff are helpful & friendly. Although there is a "mini-fridge" in standard rooms, would very much appreciate a small microwave oven in every room.

Excellent firm mattress better than a traveler usually finds at this price point. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Plumbing problem in the bathroom was quickly fixed, The hotel is a bit off the beaten path in a residential neighborhood.

The motel and room is very quaint, noisy but quaint. However, the staff at the front desk need a serious lesson in customer service. Our lock on the door was broken, the sink was clogged, the tub was clogged, and the keys didn't work on our final day. All were fixed in a timely manner; however, no apologies offered. No "sorry for the inconvenience." And when we had our keys re-keyed, we were met with a condescending lad who treated us as if we were 150 years old and didn't know how to operate a door. Horrible service.

We booked one night at this hotel and were very pleasantly surprised at the Quality of the room, we asked for a ground floor room and that is what we were given. There is a bar and restaurant on site which is pretty good value. Its a short drive to the beach and pier.

I came to the front desk on my day of check in and requested an early check in as my husband needed to rest, and waiting until check in time would be difficult. They were awesome and told me to they could check me in right away. It made a huge difference to us. Just made my day! Everyone was very friendly. The property is really old Santa Barbara - good feel to it. The rooms were clean. This was a great stay. We've already booked a future visit. Highly recommend this hotel in Santa Barbara. It's not near the downtown beach area though for those who want that. It's more along State Street a little north of the main shopping and downtown vibe. It's across the street from Cottage Hospital, so for anyone needing to stay for visiting the hospital this is a perfect place.

Nice property. Added bonus is close proximity to Cottage Hospital and Sansum Clinic if you are having a procedure done or visiting someone in the hospital. That is why we stayed. Only problem we had were ants in the bathroom around sink and tile floor. Upon killing ants we saw the floor in the bathroom area was not very clean. Very comfortable bed! We were in a room right next to the office - was rather noisy at night.

Staff was courteous and very helpful. Beds are wonderfully comfortable. Amenities such as fresh fruit, coffee and tea, lotions and shampoo. They offer a Medical Rate for those going to the clinic. Located across the street from Sansom Clinic and Cottage Hospital.

Hotel was all right for overnight stay. Room furnishings were dated. Glass wardrobe mirror weren't cleaned well; a/c was very noisy. Initially had much difficulty using the key to unlock door until hotel rep came over and showed how to use the key. Bed wasn't very comfortable. Service personnel were helpful. Location was near the freeway but not accessible to the downtown area of Santa Barbara.

Older hotel in residential neighborhood. Very well maintained, clean hotel. Little extras in the units; apples, candies, extra bathroom items. I think bottled water. The units around the pool and restaurant area are very nice. Like a little apartment with a balcony.

Location was a straight shot to the Center of Santa Barbara, which was the host of a variety of restaurants, specialty shops and waterfront. The hotel had a great restaurant with a nice selection on the menu. Pool side rooms area available as well. Hotel within a quiet, residential area.

This lodge is outstanding!! The staff is empathetic and willing to solve any problem. Our stay was relaxing and extremely enjoyable. Our medical issues were minor but our mini vacation was a pleasurable experience. Thank you! Best Western Encina Lodge

Great welcome from reception and had a fab room with excellent facilities within. We chose to have a room overlooking the pool which was nice. We were only here overnight and wished we were had stayed longer. There is an onsite restaurant but didn't use as went into Santa Barbara instead so can't comment on the food quality. Would definitely return

This is a good hotel for going to Sansum clinic, it is clean and friendly and has your basic needs. I just wish it had a microwave for when we have special diets and left overs. It has refrig and internet which is helpful and will take you over to Sansum if needed. Has a pool and spa.

We were looking for a Hotel close to the Hospital and walkable to restaurants and retail shops. this location was excellent for us. the staff was very accommodating giving us all the information upfront we needed to make decisions on what would happen if we needed to stay longer or leave early. the room was clean and the coffee at the front desk seemed to be always fresh and good.

The hotel is located in a great neighborhood close to downtown Santa Barbara and the 405 Freeway. The Restaurant is a huge benefit and served a great, varied menu in a very pleasant environment. The hotel lobby is pleasant and has a fun little gift shop for travelers. They also left waters and a pack of cookies every day after cleaning which is not usual in the hotel business and was greatly appreciated. I did wish their little workout room was air conditioned and a bit bigger.

Facility is very well managed and the employees are well trained--either that or they were well hired, as they are attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. In addition to a quiet lodging in a nice spot, there is a restaurant associated with the facility that seems to have significant patronage from locals.

My husband was unexpectedly injured in SB while hiking. He was in the hospital for 3 days, and this hotel was a calm, close retreat while I took care of him. We are from out-of-town, and this place had the comforts and kindness of home at a critical time. MANY THANKS to all the staff

Great plac to stay with family of 5. The two bedroom apartment was perfect for us. Central located makes easy to get to beaches and state street. The restaurant has great food and everyone there very friendly.

My family and I have been traveling to Sansum Clinic and Cottage Hospital since 1998. Three generations of us have stayed at the Best Western Encina Lodge on Bath Street in Santa Barbara while undergoing tests and surgeries. Our families have rested comfortably and enjoyed the various amenities offered at this excellently run motel while those of us who were being treated were just across the street. Over the years we have stayed at 4 other motels in Santa Barbara, but this is the one that we exclusively book now.

We contemplated whether to stay closer to the beach but decided on this property instead. Booked one of the townhouses and for a family of five this was more than adequate. Kitchen, laundry on site,restaurant on site and a pool. We left the car and walked to the main road, caught a bus to downtown and also tried the waterfront shuttle to Stearns wharf which cost $.50 one way. So really downtown and the waterfront is easily accessible from the hotel. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed our stay here and would recommend.

Staff were very good and helped with changing our booking at check in. They suggested an up grade at a very reasonable additional charge, which helped our situation, thank you. Clean, quiet and spacious room. Parking was on a first come first served basis, but this did not present a problem while we were there. Would stay here again. Taxi required to get to beach and downtown.

Loved the hotel, but the bed itself needed replacing...bedding & pillows were fine though...it may have just been our bed...we were with 5 other couples, and none of them complained about a bad bed...other than that, the pool area was nice and the breakfast in the morning was wonderful...the Eggs Benedict was yummy!!

Had surgery at Cottage Hospital. The location was the best part of the whole experience. The hotel was accommodating of my situation and gave me a room downstairs. The convince made this the best experience

Stayed one night at this hotel during a 10-day tour of the California coast. Prices for Santa Barbara hotels are so expensive, so this Best Western had a good rate and we chose it. The room was acceptable, but not exceptional. Had a bit of a musty smell from the A/C. Had two problems with bathroom: puddle of water on the floor upon check-in (determined by maintenance to be left by housekeeping) and the bathtub would not drain when taking a shower. The drain problem was noticed on the morning of our departure, so no time to have it fixed. No offer of a discount for our problems was offered by management. On the plus side, the front-desk manager was extremely courteous and helpful about things for us to do and see in the city. He also offered advice about the best, scenic drive to LA, which was our next stop.

I was in town because my cousin is at Cottage with a brain annyerism (sp) In light if my situation, the staff at the Best Western Plus Encina & Suites in Santa Barbara (along with the servers at Live Oak Cafe) treated me with honor and respect. I had an enjoyable time.

Very nice staff. Clean and Bed and Breakfast style rooms good quality amenities. In a very quiet area off of the main streets. I always stay at this particular Best Western but it sells out quick due to its popularity.

Every thing with the hotel was good except had to leave early for a job and all breadfest items were not available. Excellent location easy in and out. Recommended for business travel the office was available and working printer

Great location, close to State St.(10 min.) & Highway 101 in a residential area.Well maintained, very clean older facility offering large bright rooms w/refer.Convenient good restaurant close by,although no free breakfasts like many other Best Westerns and other chains offer.Nice amenities.Draw back for some: NO ELEVATORS to 2nd floor. Some parking under cover.Very expensive on weekends. Friday night $ 90. over weekdays, and add another $ 30 for Saturday nights in season ( summer).Kudos to desk attendant Natalie who graciously pursued dinner reservations for us on a Friday evening when few restaurants would take them. ( She did!) .

Stayed here for a couple of nights with the family. Its in a good location and it has great facilities. The pool was really popular with our kids. They do have guest laundry but its limited to one washer and one dryer - but that was fine. The bar was good and the reception staff could not be more helpful. Complimentary tea & coffee in reception. The rooms were clean and comfortable, parking in the hotel was included free of charge.

I love the grounds, the pool and the friendly staff. The Encina Inn is in a very convenient location to downtown, the beach, the museums and the airport. Amazing food at the restaurant!! Chef uses her special recipes that add wonderful, yummy flavors.

This day was excellent and the hotel was quite nice in the off office staff was great , The hotel was clean and in good working order and was quite pleasant and plenty of parking in. The restaurant Was not that great but all the way around the staff was great

Was the best hotel we stayed at. We stayed at Motel 6 and paid the same price and was very unhappy with my stay. Going forward I will be staying with Bet Western Plus it's nice to have 1 room with the whole family together.

The Best Western Plus Encinas Inn is located in a quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance of Santa Barbara's main attractions on State Street. The hotel is charming with lovely, well-tended grounds.

Great 'off the beaten path' Best Western Plus, centrally located in Santa Barbara. Quite, clean and well kept rooms & grounds. Only down side was the failure of the door lock (2 occasions). Staff assisted and all was well. Need to get that fixed. Close to the Mission & State Street. Viva La Fiesta!

I stayed at this hotel for 5 days. My wife and I was really disappointed with the size and quality of the room when we saw it. They mislead with the pictures on their webpage and there certainly isn't any picture of the room we got on the page. The hotel is not cheap and even though it is located in pricy Santa Barbara you could expect higher standards.

Stayed here again because of having to visit Cottage Hospital daily and again this hotel delivered. They are very friendly and understanding and take the worry out of logistics when you have to deal with everything related to an extended hospital visit. The suite with full kitchen is a great way to go if you don't want to eat out 3 meals a day. It's a popular spot for non-hospital guests as well. I highly recommend this hotel.

We had a 2 bedroom apartment. It was very spacious and plenty of room for the 3 of us. Was well equipped. Could be a place to stay for a week or two. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a very nice hotel, with big rooms and a large comfortable bed. Nice touches with coffee, tea, biscuits, fruit and sweets in the room. Free coffee available all day in the lobby! Friendly staff. No breakfast on offer which is a shame and came as a surprise, especially for the price paid. Free parking.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while on a road trip down the PCH. We had a suite and although a little dated was comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The pool was really nice and warm and although had the odd bug or two in it was really pleasant to cool off in. The reception team were great and assisted us with a top notch recommendation for a steak restaurant called "tee off". A must visit for travellers after a really good steak and service.

The hotel was comfortable and the location was great for Santa Barbara. I wish they would have offered a breakfast service for guests because we checked out before their restaurant opened. I would consider using this hotel again on my next visit to Santa Barbara.

Hotel was great for the being the last minute. Room was nice and roomy. I like the ideal of putting the little fridge under the vanity in the restroom. Also enjoyed the coffee supplied in the room and in the hotel lobby.

I was completely delighted with this hotel for my son's graduation from UCSB. I selected it one year prior based on the reviews & was not disappointed at all. The staff was friendly & the complimentary Boyd's coffee every morning was delicious. The café on premises was exceptional from the staff to the food served. My son is staying on in Santa Barbara so I will definitely by back!

This is one of the best values in Santa Barbara. If you have appointments at Sansum Clinic, it is located across from the foundation clinic. Love this and the convenience for multiple appointments at various times. The restaurant has great wine and a varied menu of good food.

Nice place to stay if you can't find a bed and breakfast. Quite pricey though for what it is. We paid $348 per night for basically a motel. It was nice that it had a microwave and fridge though. Also some of the parking was covered

We stayed here in one of the 2 bedroom suites while attending our daughter's Graduation at UCSB. It was great to have the space to stretch out and a kitchen. It did hurt to pay the price we did for this place, but recognize that this was a very busy weekend in SB. We were overall satisfied with our stay. It hit all the marks we needed for our family celebration.

We love Best Western hotels, but this wasn't our favorite one. It looked like it might be nice at first, but so many things went wrong and it was a bit run down on closer inspection. No complimentary breakfast was offered. Many things in the room were not working and internet password they gave us never worked. They forgot to give us our door keys and then the door was so finicky we had to get a maintenance man to help us. The underground parking was so "tight' we were afraid to park there with our large van, but we had no choice. The ice machine had dirt in the ice. It was a long walk to the front office, pool or restaurant. Beds were very hard. The recliner was comfortable and robes in the closet nice.

The Best Western Plus Encina Inn is an oasis in the heart of a charming Santa Barbara Eastside neighborhood. It is extraordinary well managed and maintained by employees who smile, joke with each other and laugh. And I mean all of them from the housekeepers to the maintenance crew. To me, this says a lot. When the staff enjoys working there, that is transmitted to the guests and adds to the enjoyment of the experience. I attribute this to the superb management style of the General Manager, Anthony, the front desk manager, Helen, and the assistant front desk manager, Christy. The experience of lodging at the Encina is so comfortable. It is like staying in a guest house on the estate of a close friend. Almost all the of the rooms are accessed from exterior entrances, the grounds are open, landscaping is beautiful and there is plenty of parking close to the rooms. Plus it is in a very convenient location. The 101 is only 2 blocks down to Mission and 2 blocks over to both the north and south 101 on and off ramps. Finally, I also want to recognize four additional exceptional personnel. Anna, our housekeeper, Miguel and Luis of maintenance and Hector of grounds keeping with his unique method of sweeping the areas with a long palm frond. You will be delighted with a weekend or extended visit.

This Best Western Plus was a great choice for our stay in Santa Barbara. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean and well appointed and the shower was warm and relaxing. We enjoyed the free parking and close proximity to downtown, wharf and local sightseeing.

First time staying at a hotel after having gone primarily with Air BnB. This Best Western was really nice. Everything went smooth, the staff was helpful and very accommodating, will definitely consider it the next time I'm in Santa Barbara.

The front desk, reservations and housekeeping staff are wonderful. Spacious & quiet rooms. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit and were very pleased with the accommodations. Water, fresh fruit, coffee & cookie treat in the room. We would highly recommend. We will be returning.

Excellent hotel. Stayed in a pool suite for the second time in 3 months. Only nitpicky feedback is that the pool is cold. Great rooms, great staff and love the location. We really enjoy this hotel and will look to stay there every time we visit.

Our family stayed in one of the two bedroom suites and enjoyed every minute. There is a pool, an aviary, a spa, lovely landscaping and a terrific restaurant on site. The location is excellent. We recommend the Lodge highly.

We had to unexpectedly relocate to the hospital for two weeks to care for my mother. Ramon, Theresa, and Helen made the experience so smooth for all of us during such a tough time. The property is really big and the apt we stayed in was big and very fair priced for what you get. We were three so long we used the laundry and the cafe. Both amenities were very key. Cafe has really good food. Did the shrimp tacos, barbecue chicken quesadillas and eggs Benedict. All were very good, I ate them multiple times. Great people, great property, great location especially for hospital
