It's not the first time that i stop here at Palace Hotel San Marino, and still a nice place to enjoy your journey no matter if for leisure or business as i done last time.also the restaurant inside have a good food but in San marino you can find better, but staff restaurant is really great and kind. breakfast top! price average.swimming pool amazing but the SPA corner is really uncomfortable so far from the pool....for sure i will be back in the future.
Reading the other reviews, not sure why others can't find this place. It's a massive building with Best Western sign out front, and got a single room for 65 euro. Underground parking garage is huge, which I enjoyed since it was raining and didn't want to drag 4 pieces of luggage through the rain. Room service is available as well
Quite hard to walk anywhere as right on main road. Really nice rooms although showers a bit weird. Limited choice at dinner, but a really good breakfast - coffee very good! Gym a bit dated but the pool looks good (although I did not use it). Good stay apart from the crap football result (San Marino v Scotland)!
We wanted to have a one-night stay between the swiss border and Southern Italy. I booked on BestWestern.com and expected a BestWestern Hotel. From Google maps I knew it was at the street from Rimino to San Marino center. But I missed it, No "BestWestern" sign to see... We had to drive around a bit and found out that we had to look for "Palace Hotel". Finally it worked. Nice reception, big room. But a strange smell in the bathroom, probably due to the age of the building. Despite noise-reduction windows still a lot of vehicles to hear from the busy street in the evening and night. Breakfast sufficient. But we were relieved to leave this place in the morning. We had better hotels for +30% less price lately...
Sadly it was meant to be my highlight of my Italian road trip. What a disappointment. Hotel looks good at first. Our family room was big and the bathroom grandiose. We arrived at 1am. One receptionist only for such a big complex. Once in our room, exhausted we looked to go to bed. Unfortunately the bed for our son was not done. We called reception. He came quite quickly but left us to look for another room. No other room unless we agreed to go to a smaller room. He left us and came back 30 minutes later to try to sort the sofa bed. At the end we went to bed well after 2am. Breakfast at 10am when it is advertised that breakfast was open up to 10.30. After our other hotels this buffet was a sad comparison. Not a 4 star breakfast. Buffet empty with dry pastries and we had to ask for eggs and bacon to be replenished. Waiter not friendly at all. Second morning we went for breakfast at 9 as we did not want to have an empty buffet. 4 member of staff none of them interested whatsoever by the customers. Buffet more full but still looking cheap. Suddenly a group of about 40 to 50 persons turned up. Taking over the breakfast room. Even seating at my table as my wife went to toilet... Why are you mixing groups and other private guests together is beyond my understanding. I payed 250 euro for my room, I never received a 4 star service. No room service menu in the rooms. I had to go to the bar to order and to make it worst I had to take my food and drinks to my room. Lady receptionist not apologetic and not interested whatsoever in my remarks. To resume nice hotel even if in dire need of some TLC. Pool nice and jacuzzi great. Outside pool area had better days. Service and care of customers only 2 stars. Nobody seems to care about customers and the basic of a 4 star product are not there. So disappointed. I saw in our room a price list for the room. Depending of season the room I stayed in is sold between €168 to €460. I payed €250 on average (2 night stay) how come they justify the €460 price tag when it is certainly not worth the €250 a night I pay for, to top it all the sink in the bathroom was blocked and I had to speak to that unfriendly receptionist about it...with not à single word to apologise... Last, I never managed to make work the jets shower in my room. Pay more but stay in a city center hotel with so much more character. It was good for us that San Marino is so beautiful...
I stayed here when coaching the Scotland U16 men's team in the European Championships (C). The hotel was centrally located, perfect for the arena, 10 minutes to the lovely city of SanMarino and 35mins to the beach resort of Rimini. I was in room 157, which had plenty of space with patio doors onto a courtyard. All the facilities were great, food good and roof top pool and entertainment area was brilliant, especially during the hotter days when the rooftop provided a cool breeze to sit out on. The staff were very pleasant and special mention to Aziz who looked after us so well, he couldn't do enough for us, an absolutely outstanding example of what good service looks like. Only two issues I had was that, the WiFi was pretty much nonexistent in my room, patchy elsewhere in the the hotel with the exception of the reception area where it was fine. The location was not good for walking as there are very few footpaths. We walked to the bus stops which are within 200m so not a big deal. All in all a great stay.
Bring good walking shoes. Your room can be miles away through a maze of hallways. If you don't want their upscale dining room it's a long way to any other restaurant . Breakfast is average and even though the Best Western site says it's one Euro, it's actually six per person when you check out. Try not to disturb the desk clerk when you check in.
The hotel is in Serravale, outside the old city of San Marino. It is by the main road to Rimini, and it offers free parking, which is a great advantage. The rooms are spacious and very clean with comfortable beds. Breakfast is very good All in all - a pleasant experience!

Dear TzviaO, We appreciate that you spent time to write a review about our hotel. We are really glad your stay was excellent! Thanks a lot and we wait you for your next holiday in san marino!
Room was nice and spacious with a balcony and a nice view. When checking in the receptionist wasn't very friendly it was as if we disturbed her. Upon check out we asked for directions to a couple of places which seemed to throw the receptionist (not the same as the day before), he was not able to give us the information we needed. We had lunch in the restaurant - the food was fantastic and the waiters was really professional and friendly !!!! The menu caters for everybody and I can only emphasize how good it was and very nice presented and again the waiters were the best !!! I highly recommend anyone to enjoy a meal there even if you are not staying at the hotel.
Good location close to Rimini, clean rooms, friendly staff, fair price, good breakfast, good for business meetings. Visitors of Rimini fairs will enjoy staying at this location. Many good restaurant near by.
Nothing particularly good or bad with this hotel. We stayed for two nights while we were in the area for a football match. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the main stadium in Serravalle. Location-wise you will need a car, taxi or bus to get anywhere. There is nothing near the hotel in terms of restaurants etc Taxi's are moderately expensive at about €25 for the 6km trip to the old town ... €4 per km is steep and so it might be better to stay close to where you want to be. The advantage of this hotel is the pool and roof deck area which you wont get in some others. It seemed clean and welcoming and would be a nice place to chill out on a sunny day. Overall, the hotel was clean enough but could benefit from some refurbishment. The showers in the bedrooms are awful with the stupid wall jets and stiff/awkward controls. Another thing of note, there isn't really a bar in this hotel. There is a sort of bar in the lobby but then you end up sitting at reception having your drink i.e. no proper bar sitting area. Also, no possibility to room charge your drinks It's hard to put my finger on it but this hotel has equal amounts of good and bad points. If it were rated 3 stars I would say it was about right - the fact it has 4 stars above its doors does suggest you will get a better experience than you do
Very large hotel with lovely swimming pool and sun deck. Professional reception staff although not overly friendly..... a welcoming smile would have made all the difference. Check in was very quick and efficient. It was a very long walk to our room with baggage and no offer of a trolley or assistance. However the room was large, very clean and comfortable. The bed was huge and linen/pillows etc crisp and fresh. The rooms have coffee/tea making facilities however there were no cups in our room. The bathroom was large and clean and there was complimentary soap, body lotion etc. Despite two people being in the room there was only one bath towel however I met a room attendant in the corridor who happily provided extra towels..... lovely, friendly man. The breakfast was buffet style and there was a lot of choice however the ingredients/produce used were not of a very good standard. The hotel is 7km from the historic city..... easy to drive to and park however there is also a bus you can take. Overall a pleasant stay..... just a few glitches but this did not have a negative impact on our time at the hotel.
The hotel and amenities were great. Big rooms and bathrooms and our room had a patio. Hotel has a roof top pool and bar area. There is a park across the street and running/hiking trail (but can be a little tricky to get to). It's about a 15 minute drive to San Marino center.

Dear KCH143, Thanks a lot for your opinion. We are glad our hotel matched your expectations. We wait you for your next vacation in San Marino. Best Regards
My partner and I stopped here for one night before visiting the sights in San Marino. It was fine. It ceratinly felt more like a business hotel than something comfortable for travelling, if that makes any sense. There was no sense of warmth or style about the place. The beds were comfortable enough, the room was fine. The shower was a bit overwhelming and it honestly took me and my partner together to figure it out. So, average.
The hotel itself is very nice. Lots of amenities, rooms clean and well appointed, roomy bathrooms with body jets on the showers. My quibbles are that this is difficult to get to if you do not have a car. (Note, if you are driving, you will find a dedicated parking garage, so that might be a plus for you.) I took a bus from Rimini, and the hotel web site said to get off at the Serravalle stop. There appeared to be several, and just after I saw the hotel zip by, I asked the driver for the next stop. It was about 10 min walk from there. The road was a two lane divided highway with no pedestrian walkways on the side. Just a narrow shoulder. Leaving the hotel was also difficult as I had to walk about 10 min to get to a pedestrian crossing so I could catch the bus back down to Rimini. The hotel itself is about 6 or 7 kilometers down from San Marino city center, which is where most everyone wants to go. I also took what the call a 'Full Board" option, meaning my meals were included. If I stayed again, I would probably not take this. You get a special limited menu, and if you are here as a tourist, you would likely not be eating lunch here.
Everything about this hotel was superb from start to finish. Reception staff, room, food, restaurant team, local information, etc., etc., etc. Nothing was too much trouble. It's where we would stay if we return to San Marino.
I have visited San Marino for the first time on one of my business trips. It's a very nice country and I am very pleased with the standard. The Hotel was well situated for our needs. Not within walking distance to anything. If you don't have a car, you do need a taxi to get to places. Hotel very nice, good standard, very quiet, not a busy place. Would stay again if need to go back there.
Very small, but nice rooms. Television defective, air conditioning defective. No help, or problem solving by the hotel staff. For almost all colleagues. Poor locking system. Loud to the street. Room girl awakes one, despite shield..Bad location in the city. Great restaurant. Never ever.
Positive: We booked a suite and was delighted to find what we needed. The room was clean, had decent AC, and a clean bathroom. Shower was nice and clean. If you want to stay in a reasonably priced hotel with regular amenities one would expect then this is the place for you. Good price for the room, has an average restaurant, and pool. We later discovered that the TV channels can be played in the original language which is a plus when all you see in European TV is every other language except 1 or 2 English channels. Negatives: The hotel advertised a shuttle to and from San Marino which had details in the hotel booklet but when we called to make reservations we were told a bus was available instead. We are accustomed to regular side walks and found it quite dangerous walking on the side of the road to reach the bus stop. I am pregnant and the walk to the bus stop scared me along with drivers catcalling or yelling something at me. My husband was there to keep me feeling secured and safe so everything was fine. I just hoped that they would not advertise a shuttle service if it was not available.
Was a very nice relaxing hotel. The pool was nice and open until 2200. Breakfast was only €6! And the food was pretty descent too. I didn't much care for the dinner menu and the dessert seemed like it was frozen from a box. However, the hotel was close to a bus stop for San Marino and a sports bar down the street. The staff was also nice. The room we had was spacious and also had a great shower. Then again we got the suite on a deal from Travelocity. Overall a very good experience, I just wish the dinner menu was better.
This is a very nice hotel near Old Town(about 10 min). We got a junior suite which was smaller than expected. - single room with bed, fold out couch, and tiny bathroom. We got a additional single room for family which ended up being more spacious and less expensive. If you stay here consider just getting multiple single rooms for larger groups. The pool and deck is nice and the main draw/attraction. It can get busy as the pool is pretty small for the size of the hotel but for kids/couples it works nicely. The restaurant is surprising wonderful. Breakfast is awesome and dinner was done very nicely (mains, pasta, salads, deserts). The hotel is really only perfect for a day or two at most but by then you can really see everything worth seeing in Old Town.
We stayed two nights there and everything was really perfect: kindness of staff, breakfast, rooms, beds. There is also a spa and swimming pool. To go to the old town of San Marino, however, a car is necessary from the hotel ( or taxi). We usually walk a lot, but there is no street available which is "walkable" to get there. Fantastic price too, se paid 80 euros for a room, breakfast included. Very cheap for the season. Free parking. Shuttle to old town available ( price?)
This hotel might offer clean rooms that look nice, but apart from that I would NOT recommend this to anyone. We unfortunately booked 6 nights, so we experienced the whole range of terrible hotel services - for starters, the staff at the reception is incompetent and rude. We had to change rooms 4 times to get away from the noisy highway, broken a/c, and two parties on the roof top till 1 AM. Not once did I feel like the staff did anything to actually solve the problem other than just pushing us from room to room. The location sucks - you cannot walk anywhere from here, since the hotel is surrounded by highway. The sad part about this is that they will get away with this, since not all hotel guests will read this before booking...
The hotel was nice and clean - the staff were friendly, helpful and most spoke English. The bedroom was fine with AC, wi-fi, tv/radio and a decent bathroom. There was no trouser press, although an iron and board were available via reception. There were no tea / coffee facilities in room. The location meant that a car was an advantage, although the local bus service would stop at the door if the request was made to the driver. The table d'hote menu in the dining room was very limited at lunch and dinner, although there was a wide range of foods available in a buffet at breakfast.
Satisfactory hotel but it will not give the same romantic, picturesque or historical feel as any of the hotels located inside the city of San Marino. As pointed outby others - beware of long walk to your room and dangerous entrance and exit to hotel by car. There is a quite wonderful pool on the rooftop, if empty youcan have a great experience here. Staff is helpful but the hotel feels a bit too big and desolate.
We reviewed hotels for our visit to San Marino, and this hotel appeared to meet our needs. However, not the case. The hotel sits right on the busy access to the mountaintop principality of San Marino, in San Marino's Serravalle town. Access to the hotel is not intuitive and, frankly, with the speed of traffic as approaching the hotel, right off the divided highway, frightening - be prepared to make a wrong first attempt to access it. While parking is free, this, too, is not intuitive and the "instructions" whether from the staff or on the access gate, are less than helpful. Staff is aloof and almost surly, more interested in interaction with one another than with an arriving patron. The hotel is spread out along the thin piece of land it occupies. From the hotel's desk to our room (not the last one on the long hall) was about an eighth of a mile! The room was rather severely "modern" - read this as barely decorated - internal to the hotel, no view, with a strange, 30 square foot "outside" through sliding glass doors, which was carved from a deck area and shared with 3 or 4 other rooms but with a ten foot high wall obstructing any possible view. Dinner was adequate but the restaurant was severely understaffed…when we were there, about 10 tables were occupied and only one poor server (and he was trying so hard to serve us all) for all of us…took an eternity…even by Italian/San Marinoan standards. Night two we went down to Rimini for better service and food. Breakfast was adequate but slow in refreshing popular items…we got there earlier on morning two to insure we were able to have things we wanted for breakfast. The TV did not work…but the wi-fi was OK.
I spent 3 days in this amazing hotel. I travelled for business reason, therefore the locatios was perfect for me (close to the center, but only 20 minutes from the old town). My room was spacious, clean and well equipped. The hotel staff was extremly helpful, they always have a sincere smile. The breakfast is excellent, and I also recommend the a la carte menu too.
This is my second review of the Hotel after my previous stay in September 2014 .The Hotel is located on the main street in Seravalle while proceeding towards San Marino City Centre . The room (a basic double) was very comfortable and spacious [ with an adjoining small courtyard as well ! ] provided with a working table ,large wardrobe , electronic safe and mini bar. The breakfast buffet was quite good with a variety of fruits, juices, tea/coffee , cereals, toasts, yoghurt , croissants and biscuits .The Conference Room [ Cleopatra Room] can seat 225-250 guests with all conference facilities with a fairly large ante-room for registration and networking . Free wifi facility is provided in the rooms as well and a computer with printer facilities is also available for use by the guests in the hotel lobby . You can engage a taxi for 3 hours to visit the various attractions at the historic city centre, 5 kms. away , at a charge of 75 Euros approx . Buses leave for Rimini Station in Italy from the opposite side of the street at one-hour intervals starting from 7.30 AM, charging a fare of 3-4 Euros . As the Hotel is located in a peaceful and quiet area , and close to beach city Rimini also , stay at the Best Western Palace Hotel while visiting San Marino is highly recommended . The only thing missing here is a 24-hour coffee shop .
We did not know what to expect, so were pleasantly surprised by this hotel! And, they really provided an excellent buffet breakfast! We also enjoyed dinner there... and great to have free parking! It was perfect location to head up the mountain to see San Marino...sadly the weather that day was totally "pea soup" fog and we really could not even see anything the next morning - altho we did go up there. Bummer.
Booked this hotel for a family visit to San Marino. The room was nice and spacious and we enjoyed the pool and free wifi. The view was just ok because of a crappy petrol station outside the front of the hotel. What we didn't like was they only did room service when the restaurant was open i.e from 19.30pm, there was no menu in the room and when I did get one, it was very limited and unappetising. The hotel is on a busy road so avoid driving at night, the hotel also has free parking which is good. Also this hotel charges €10 per night for a baby crib which I feel is wrong so will be contacting best western about this.
Stayed for 2 nights. Arriving late to a functional welcome my room was fine with a small courtyard. Bed and bathroom were fine. The hotel is located reasonably convenient for the football stadium. I had a car and enjoyed touring the area. Had a very frustrating time trying to order room service on one night with an awkward waiter and no menu in the room. Had to get management to sort it. Excellent value.
The hotel is on the main road into San Marino about fifteen minutes drive from the old town. The hotel itself is huge and not that attractive from the outside. However once inside it is fine. Our room was spacious and comfortable. There is an indoor pool but you have to pay to use the other facilities. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection. We stayed here because we thought it would be difficult to park near the old town and were pleased we did so. However because the hotel is on a dual carriageway there is nowhere to walk for a choice of restaurants. We did eat at the hotel on two nights but found the menu not extensive and rather overpriced.
I have now stayed at this hotel on two occasions. The hotel is of a modern design with an open plan reception lounge area. The rooms are well appointed and are spotlessly clean. I like the electric shutters on the windows which you can close during the day and night. The hotel has a large underground car park so parking is not a problem. The roof garden is a neat addition alongside the covered pool. On my first visit the use of the Sauna was free, sadly reception wanted 10 euros to use the facilities this time. Breakfast is a buffet where you have a wide selection of well prepared food. Staff are really attentive and speak many languages. All in all a good hotel in all respects.
Not the most inspiring hotel from the outside as you approach but once inside it cannot fail to impress. Great reception area and the rooms are nicely finished and decorated. Comfortable bed and good quality linen and towels. Our room overlooked the main road up to Sam Marino town but noise was not a problem. A small balcony outside gave views across to the mountains only slightly marred by the petrol filling station opposite. Nice parking area under the hotel. If travelling by car it's a good place to stop if visiting San Marino as its only 15 mins up the road. Nice continental breakfast.
we were stuck away in an annex miles from reception, the bar/restaurant, entrance lobby etc. I felt I knew what the answer would have been had I asked to be moved, so jyst didn't bother making a fuss. annoying when i'd specifically booked this Hotel 50 weeks in advance.
I have stayed here previously so on realising I was returning to San Marino this was the obvious hotel to book. Email communication was a little bit difficult but I successfully booked three rooms directly with the hotel. They sent a confirmation email a few days before arrival which was sadly wrong but the hotel kindly changed the rooms easy enough to what I originally wanted. If you haven't been to San Marino it's a very small yet beautiful place only accessible by road. To get around, to the old town and Serravalle you really do need to rely on taxis or the bus schedule. I was in town for football so got the bus from Rimini which stopped directly outside the hotel, which is set alongside the 'motorway'. Check in took seconds, the room keys were already awaiting us and took the lift to the room. The hotel was insistent we pay on departure. We were on the second floor. The twin room was very big with a balcony overlooking the greenery and hills towards Rimini; very pleasing. There was a distant sea view. The balcony had a table and two chairs, great for a late night ale and morning breakfast. The beds were comfortable, the room very clean and the shower luxurious with a seat and massage facilities built in. The bathroom was massive and also very clean, albeit an obscure shape. The hotel has a pool and leisure facilities. I used the pool last time and it was lovely and relaxed, a good size too. The WIFI here was poor though, that's my only real criticism, that and the constantly changing bar prices. It appears an English football fan was charged €5 a bottle, the locals €4, however the barman soon remedied this when questioned. We ate in the downstairs restaurant Saturday night. The menu is basic but the food we ordered very tasty for a good price. There is also a new rooftop eatery but we didn't venture there. The hotel is located about an uphill 15 minute drive from the top of San Marino town and a 10 minute downhill walk from Serravalle town (and walk down the motorway!!!), albeit there is very little there. The views from the top are sublime, especially on a clear day. There's some great bars and eateries up there also. The hotel booked a taxi for us to go back to Rimini Sunday morning, slightly more expensive than a metered far mind. Check out took quite a while, the old boy on reception really did faff about far too much, slightly annoying when trying to pay on check-in and worrying about catching an onward train at 6am in the morning. Still, a very pleasing stay and should I return, I would absolutely be staying here again.
I've been here only for one night with a group of tourists. Everyone was contented with our stay and believe me, please 30 people of different ages is a challenge. The rooms are spacious as well as bathrooms, the breakfast is tasty, abundant and diverse, there's a swimming pool, free wi-fi and helpful stuff at the reception. What else one may need for a stay?
Barring some problems with the A/C this was an excellent hotel and personnel were very helpful. The breakfast buffet was amazingly well stocked with a variety suitable for every taste. It was slightly difficult to enter the premises, but once you navigated it the first time you should have no trouble. Should you experience trouble you just have to go to the round about and take another attempt at the entry point.
