"Impressive"
danitae146, 12 Février 2024

Super cute, well cared for property. I loved the rooftop deck, although only 3 floors up. It was nice to have a spot to sit outside and relax, and this hotel had several outdoor spots to sit. It was within walking distance to so much entertainment, and such a short easy drive to so much more, such as Sea world and the zoo. The continental breakfast was great, with a lot of options. The Host kept the hot food coming and always made sure we had enough, and what we needed. The rooms were clean and updated, beds were comfortable, very nice. I appreciated the fact that I was able to park on the premises, so I has easy access to my vehicle. There is also a lot across the street. This place was a Great Value. I Definitely will keep this as my go to place, and look no further.

"Nice hotel hiding in San Diego downtown,"
Sightseer65137073669, 27 Janvier 2024

Thank you to Mr. Muse who start my wonderful trip by his anticipated service, town information, dining and sightseeing information were recommended by him breakfast was good, I love fresh waffle, sausage and vibes

"Central location and like a boutique hotel"
timothyg, 07 Octobre 2023

I loved this place. Although it's part of the Best Western chain, it's like a boutique hotel. Small, two-stories, not a lot of rooms and best of all, quiet with nice rooms. I admit I drove past the driveway the first time but there's ample parking and the front-desk staff, and housekeeping staff, are first-rate. It's very centrally located, near the Gaslamp District and the hotel includes a nice breakfast. And the price is great.

"Don't book if you have standards"
Monica R, 05 Juillet 2023

After reading the other reviews, which I regret not having done prior to booking, I had two major concerns regarding parking and noise level, both of which turned out to be non-issues; however, a plethora of other concerns arose pretty much immediately upon entering the room. The room is tiny, and two parents and two teenagers trying to co-exist in the space is a challenge. We had to use the ironing board to add extra counter space for our belongings. The crappy wall AC unit blew directly on us while we were trying to sleep, so we had to block it with a suitcase. The “closet” is a nook in the wall with a curtain. The bathroom is so small that it's even a challenge to get dressed in. Water from the tiny shower leaked all over the floor, so there was definitely no way we would plug in anything in the bathroom for fear of electrocution. The television didn't work properly, so the front desk person was in our room late at night trying to fix it; he couldn't. The next day they tried again to fix it, though it still was a challenge to figure out how to actually do things like adjust the volume. Having two hotel staff invading our space during this was creepy and unnecessary if they had been in the practice of checking their equipment before checking in guests. The rooftop terrace is nothing more than a slab of concrete with dilapidated furniture on it and looks nothing like the picture representing it online; that photo is one of the reasons I chose this place, and it ended up being deceiving. The price we paid for the stay, even though it was below the average room price for the area, was absolutely not worth it. Never again will we consider staying here.

"Garden Inn San Diego"
ejkbc415w, 03 Juin 2023

Not enough parking for guests. If you are not early you have to park on street or off scene parking. There is only one handicap parking space. The cleaning staff is very noisy. The area is very noisy constant traffic and sirens. The cleaning staff roll around with carts that are extremely noisy. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION AT ALL. I AM SURPRISED BEST WESTERN IS ASSOCIATED WITH THESE TYPES OF ACCOMMODATIONS.

"TERRIBLE..!"
JorgeA84, 01 Décembre 2022

I'm a gold member with BW and I can tell you this hotel misrepresents the chain and tarnishes its reputation. It's nothing more than an overpriced, old motel (the towers in the background are not part of the hotel). It's located in a very noisy intersection and has no special windows to keep the noise outdoors. To top it all, the place is infested with MICE! There are many other hotels within walking distance that offer a much better experience. STAY AWAY!

"Great Location - Quaint"
Steven H, 10 Septembre 2022

Right in downtown San Diego, with parking, roof top terrace and clean. Rooms are dated, but overall a good value. Breakfast is good with lots of options including warm. The staff was friendly and very accommodating, bathroom was functional, but very small.

"LITTLE GEM AMONGST THE HIGH RISES"
keepgrinding4life, 29 Août 2022

This location sits on the edges of downtown San Diego. It's quaint and quiet. The breakfast satisfied our tastes and the entire staff was warm and friendly. We initially believed that being downtown we would encounter loud noises, however to our surprise it was quiet and cozy.

"We couldn't have asked for more!"
W5526JLlizl, 06 Avril 2022

From the moment we checked in, to parking accommodations, breakfast and more! We felt more than welcome the entire time! The staff went above and beyond more than once! I look forward to to staying here again!

"Garden Stay in the Middle of Downtown"
Voyager761976, 26 Janvier 2022

Lovely Lovely Hotel surrounded by High Rise Buildings - flowers and calm sitting areas outside each room - easy walking distance to downtown San Diego. We WILL Be Back! Shout Out to Victor at the Front Desk in the afternoon - Very kind, great customer service, and gave great ideas for things to do within walking distance - we stayed an extra day!!

"Homeless and noise."
Billiam2016, 05 Janvier 2022

Homeless are within shouting distance of the hotel. I am not saying homeless people are bad . I am saying the couple i came across were looking for trouble. And they were yards away from the hotel. Also, the noise on the corner room was unbearable. I got the full range from racing cars, to a skater being yelled at to get out of the street. Numerous honking cars, loud talking, arguments and someone who was giggling for what seemed like an eternity. Not restful in the slightest . Room was very nice though, and the shower was exceptional. Breakfast was great! They had a little bit if everything, and a tad more. . I won't stay her again, mainly for the 1st 2 reasons.

"My get away."
fmtzhb1, 25 Novembre 2021

That was just what I needed. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was great and friendly. Location was great, just a few minutes from any venue. Two blocks from the freeway. All the employees were very kind and friendly. I'm definitely going back soon.

"Great Location, Amazing Staff, Excellent Value!"
D8847WGmichellep, 20 Novembre 2021

This was a very conveniently located hotel within minutes of Downtown, the airport, and Balboa Park. Lovely, clean grounds adorned with succulent plants and a charming third story balcony. Staff was extremely welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast service was also exceptional for a Best Western breakfast. This will definitely be our new regular place to stay whenever we visit the San Diego area! GREAT VALUE, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

"Dated and Noisy"
Pam T, 31 Octobre 2021

No sleep due to guests running and screaming , yelling. Fighting in parking lot. Room was small, bed ok, tiny bathroom . Clean, but the shower only put out a trickle. AC unit in room was so loud we could t run it. Staff was nice. Location okay. Many homeless, including a few who appeared to be living in the parking lot. I know the hotel can't do much about that.

"Wedding Destination"
matildalynnw1, 18 Octobre 2021

Our small intimate family wedding party enjoyed a wonderful stay at this hotel. An oasis among the skyscrapers in the heart of San Diego. The food, staff, rooms, and upstairs patio was all comfortable and welcoming.

"Pleasant little hotel downtown."
irissmaus, 18 Octobre 2021

I like this little place...it's kind of an island in the city, the people are accommodating and helpful, they have lovely plants everywhere outside, and it's very pleasant. A well balanced complimentary breakfast is offered. There's a rooftop sitting area that is nice, and it's close to everything.

"Great Location & Customer Service was the BEST!"
P5117UXlaurenm, 22 Juin 2021

This hotel was close to everything, price was decent and Sunny, the desk clerk, was the best part! He was so warm and welcoming. It was a busy night and parking was full but that didn't stop him from making sure we had somewhere to park our cars. We were not from around the area but he sure made us feel right at home! I would stay here again in a minute!!

"Good location but noisy"
melblumenthal44, 20 Mai 2021

Pros: Centrally located, walking distance from many attractions, reasonably clean. Cons: This is not a hotel, it is a motel. The description and glamour shots online are highly misleading and overstating what this place actually is. Everything is small and cramped. No countertop space in the bathroom. Slanted floors with loose tiles. You have to pay $20 per day for parking - the catch? There is only a limited amount of tight parking spaces that are first come, first served. The $20 you paid won't actually guarantee you a spot. The worst? The noise. We were unable to have a good night's sleep due to the noise from the street, people, music, etc. There seems to be no insulation. Even ear plugs didn't help much. OMG so much noise! We will not stay here again based on our recent experience - especially given that we paid premium price for the room. Rather underwhelming compared to our experiences in other BWs.

"Customer Service - No Stay"
samesmindy, 19 Février 2021

Called to check about the hotel and ask a couple questions. The clerk barely answered. When asked what the breakfast situation was, he told me it is only orange juice, a hard boiled egg, and a sandwich. When I asked him what kind of sandwich, he said "a packed sandwich." I asked again, and he went to check and told me there is no sandwich, "only a cupcake, a small cupcake". A cupcake? For breakfast? When I commented that sounded like an aweful breakfast, he said "Yeah." Also asked about parking, and he said there is a $20 fee, at this point I gave up, so I don't know if this would be for each night. He seemed to not care if I stayed or not. The worst customer service at a hosplitality establishment. Not interested in staying there. I do not normally write bad reviews, but I was so disguested, I had to review.

"Quaint Hotel Amongst in Land of Skyscrapers"
maureen1333, 16 Mars 2020

This quaint throwback to drive-up hotels is nestled in a land of skyscrapers, glass and marble. If you want to feel like a person and not number, this is a wonderful site. 20th century California dreaming inside 21st century California living.

"Always a solid stay"
Flores5150, 25 Février 2020

We have been staying at this hotel for the past 4 years now. Staff is always friendly and helpful. If you don't know the area, they are always willing to tell you where they like to go to eat, view, etc. Hotel is located next to everything and you can just walk everywhere if needed.

"Best Western Cabrillo"
mer1951, 20 Février 2020

Very small breakfast area needed to stand most mornings to eat. Was cold so not reasonable to eat outdoors at tables. Small cramped bathrooms. Was quoted 10-15 dollars per night for parking when booked room charged 20 dollars per night.

"Nice plaace to stay"
Myron W, 29 Janvier 2020

This was a nice place to stay while in downdown San Diego, Close to lots of entertainment and food. Safe clean, and comfortable rooms, but on the small side. Staff were very good, and I will stay here again.

"A great place at a great price"
Timeoff-2011, 22 Décembre 2019

$99 per night downtown San Diego, 7 min cab ride to Gaslamp area. King size beds with lovely linen, very very clean and quaint smaller hotel, very friendly staff. Price included a hot well stocked breakfast bar. May not have some amenities such as pool, lounge or restaurant, but not way you can go wrong for a place to sleep. Small grocery/liquor across the street.

"Hidden gem"
TheGatesClan, 14 Décembre 2019

This quaint hotel is nestled in between a lot of city high rises. The service, amenities, room, breakfast were all very good. The location was perfect to attend the December Nights at Balboa Park. We were able to leave our car and walk to everything.

"Excellent Hotel"
marrisonnancy, 27 Septembre 2019

This is an excellent hotel ! I have made three trips to San Diego this year, for leisure and have stayed at this hotel each time. It's very close to Balboa Park and the Amtrak Station Very pleasant atmosphere, great staff, nice rooms, great breakfast!

"Best hotel ever stayed in."
tallgirl13, 15 Septembre 2019

Best hotel, gave us military rate helped the budget. Great breakfast open till 10a.m. Quite.clean. Beautiful patio w/ lots of plants. You can see they really care about their hotel. Close to bus, trolley, Petco Park, Airport and many other attractions. Lovely staff..

"Cute, cozy place"
Sandy C, 06 Septembre 2019

Great location, not far from the airport and close the the zoo. Room and bathroom a little small but very clean and beds were super comfy. Loved all the plants and the seating outside the rooms was nice. Breakfast was great and whether we came In at 7am or 945 am breakfast was ready and waiting. Yes we had to pay for parking however the parking fee at this hotel was by far cheaper than any of the other hotels. Just check in early to get a parking spot and then ok to go in and out. We enjoyed our 2 night stay and will definitely stay here again.

"Surprised it even qualifies as a Best Western"
Natieam, 02 Septembre 2019

Seriously, bathroom was so small, I had cig burns on the curtains, if you don't arrive early there isn't any parking and you can “find parking on the street”. The telephone in my room didn't work, had to call the front desk on my cell phone. It's like some no-tell-motel that they slapped paint on and got a national branding. It was awful especially charging 250$

"Oasis in Downtown San Diego"
lorenwebb, 24 Août 2019

After a long day of exploring San Diego, we headed to Downtown to find our hotel for the night. As soon as we pulled in we could see how this BW was really a quaint boutique hotel. Its a small hotel surrounded by high-rise buildings. The front desk staff was SUPER nice and because it was small they were genuinely happy to see us and the check in process was quick. The rooms are small but well appointed. The rooftop deck was a great place to enjoy a drink. We walked down to the gas lap district which was 10 minutes away.

"Dont say I didnt warn you!!!"
tgaines05, 09 Août 2019

This hotel is very noisy lots of sirens, honking. There are alot of homeless hanging around at night. You have to be careful when you go out at night. Breakfeast is hideous. Rooms are really small it was just two of us and you better hope you really love each other because there is not much space to move around. Oh yeah parking is extra so put that into your budget. No microwave. Just dont do it spend your money else where.

"Fantastic hotel for a great price!"
juliefarmergunn, 05 Août 2019

We stayed 3 nights could not of had a better experience. Staff is friendly and helpful. Great location. Room was sparkling clean every day. Nice linings and mattress very comfortable. We will be staying here again. Highly recommend.

"Sweet gem in the middle of the city."
444ellenm, 14 Juillet 2019

Great little place, a bit old-time, but modern amenities, super clean, comfy beds, plush linens, parking. Check in early to assure a parking space. In and out ok, once registered. One night only, didn't need pool, gym and fancy amenities. Staff super friendly. We slept in late and breakfast was over by the time we checked out. Host even offered to pack us a little to go snack and coffee! A bit expensive for what you get, but this is San Diego. I hope it can survive in the midst of towering hotels and condominiums. The owners obviously take pride in the place. Will def recommend to friends!

"Charming Hotel"
RossGee, 05 Juin 2019

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our Californian roadtrip and had a great stay. Upon check in the friendly guy at the desk helped us the best way to plan our stay with suggestions on things to see and how best to see San Diego with our limited time. The room was clean and comfortable if a little cramped. The setting is very nice with lots of pot plants etc around to give that garden feel and the rooftop seating area provided somewhere nice to relax in the evening with a beer (if only we had better weather!). Breakfast was fine. It's only a 10 minute walk to the Gaslamp Quarter, and 15 mins to Balboa Park so the location can't be beat. Only negative would be the additional $15/day for parking. I'd definitely recommend a stay here if you;re visiting San Diego.

"Hidden Gem"
Russ1958, 30 Mai 2019

Found this place on Booking.com and what a place. 5 minute walk to Gaslamp and pubs bars and restaurants. Rooms exceptionally clean and cosy. Staff are very helpful and friendly, and nothing to fault it for. Would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it definitely, for the price. Breakfast included too.

"Comfortable and neat hotel near Gaslamp quartter"
sep65, 20 Mai 2019

This charming and nice small hotel is very conveniently located - in a walking distance to Gaslamp quarter, Balboa park, Convention center and quite close to Little Italy and seafront. Rooms as well as bathrooms are clean and comfortable. Bed was goog for sleep. It is also very good and convenient that breakfast is served in the morning. Hotel stuff is friendly, helpfull and efficient

"Don't stay here!"
Mark N, 06 Mai 2019

Apparently, they allow tailgating parties until 1am in their 15 spot parking lot. Overnight staff was rude and manager never called me back as requested. Got 3 hours of sleep and paid $300. The morning agent did refund me $59 but that's not the point. Very expensive for a low end hotel and no empathy whatsoever. Stay away.

"Great Value!"
jodielpena, 23 Avril 2019

This hotel is so cute and comfortable. I slept so well!! The staff is extremely nice and accommodating. I do sleep with ear plugs, so I had no issue with any noise. The room we very clean and the bed was comfy. We had a room with 2 beds. The room would be a tad bit small for more than 2 guests. For the price we paid, this hotel has extremely great value. The breakfast was more than just pastries. They served hot food as well. (Eggs, waffles, etc) In relation to walking into Gaslamp or Downtown, the hotel is probably about 2 blocks further than expected, but was not a big deal. There is a coffee shop at the corner of 9th a block down and there was a little market across 9th as part of the building...hard to see. We walked to Petco Park (15 min) and walked to Seaport Village from the hotel...probably about a 25 min walk. It was very enjoyable. We used Lyft to go back to the hotel.

"Pleasant place tucked between the skyscrapers"
EcoArtTraveler, 22 Avril 2019

I hope this place can hold out against a hostile takeover of its doubtless valuable lot, because it's like a little oasis in the midst of downtown, close to lots of tourist attractions, walkable to many restaurants, and run by some friendly and helpful people. Plants all over the place, and a breakfast that is definitely a cut or two above the "continental" breakfast that they advertise.

"Just what we needed"
meegantoro, 17 Avril 2019

This hotel is cute and comfortable. It is a quick walk to GasLamp Quarter and a short uber to Little Italy, Balboa Park or the airport. Everyone from the front office to housekeeping was friendly, professional and personal. Our room was compact and clean. We had no complaints!

"Small wonderful property"
Travel65834515130, 08 Avril 2019

Easy location from which to navigate the city. Parking our car was certainly one ot the factors which lead us to the property. It is an easy in & out parking lot but we do suggest you back into your slot. Also it has a small cupola up on roof for your breakfast. City view is worth it. You must climb the stairs though.

"A Little Gem in the City"
TumlerP, 28 Mars 2019

We enjoyed our stay at this cute hotel. The staff were friendly and responsive, the breakfast included lots of options, and the location is excellent—we walked everywhere. Also, the parking is the cheapest in the area. The property is lovely, with lots of plants, but the room was small, with no microwave. The neighborhood is quiet, but traffic noise was sometimes bothersome.

"Acceptable for business stay"
Vladimir_Sukhanov, 19 Mars 2019

+: Location is good. Not far from Balboa Park, close to Gaslamp Quarter with all it's restaurants, 1,5 km away from embankment. Very good bed and comfortable pillows - two for each person. All facilities work properly. Fruits for breakfast -: Cold floor. Noisy heater. Lack of foot towel. When I used hand towel for feet and left it on floor housekeeper took it and didn't replace for new one. There is no soap. Had to ask for it on reception. Shampoo vial was replaced after first use but wasn't after second.

"Hidden Gem"
A C, 06 Mars 2019

Perfect location for the sights and smells of downtown/Gaslamp Quarter. This place was close to almost everything we wanted to explore including but not limited to, Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy's Mercato, and not far from Point Loma either. The hotel itself is very cute, two-story property with a nice rooftop area to hang out/eat breakfast. I loved having that available to get some time outdoors while still at the hotel. Nice breakfast every morning and service was great. You can tell that there is someone there who really cares about their property. **Very small parking lot was the only downside, if you were traveling with a large vehicle, you may want to stay some where else.

"Go Downtown Location"
2amigos_12, 04 Mars 2019

We stayed as a couple to be near Naval Hospital. It was very close to Balboa and downtown. Reception was very helpful and talked to you, not at you. Room 216 is on the end and had a micro and refrigerator...not all rooms do. Large screen TV. Very clean. Breakfast included hot items of eggs, sausage, potatoes, cereal, yogurts. The hotel is located on a corner between streets, so if you need quiet bring your ear plugs. No pool or workout. Parking was available for $15.00 per day and you can leave and return as you need for that price. A bargain. If you need to be close to town and Balboa and luxury not your reason for going, this is a good place!

"Best western"
Roam02916226514, 09 Décembre 2018

Nice little hidden gem right in the middle of DTSD. Friendly staff and comfy littl room with a good Hot breakfast. Great stay great location near so many great places to visit. Everything is walking distance.

"A boutique style Best Western"
747goodlife, 04 Décembre 2018

My husband went to San Diego for Thanksgiving this November and stayed at the Best Western Cabrillo Garden Inn. Its a two-story building surrounded by high rises of apartments and condos near Gas Lamp District and Little Italy. Their parking fee was the cheapest ($15/day) in downtown San Diego and parking space is always guaranteed bec they stop selling spaces once they're full. Our room was on the second floor (Room 225),quiet,clean,though small for a king bed, very updated bathroom fixtures, ceiling fan and air conditioner inside we can regulate. Beds a bit hard, but there's choices of pillows. There's coffee maker and mini fridge (that turns off and on at nights that wakes us up) The receptionist was very friendly and helpful even if its a holiday weekend. The plants around the building makes the place looks like a garden. The breakfast room was a bit small, with just two tables inside, though there's sitting outside. The continental breakfast was sufficient with cold and hot food and beverages. There's a lovely set up of tables and chairs, sofas for lounging on the roof top overlooking condos and apartment buildings. The only thing that bothered us was the homeless population on our walks downtown, they don't beg or bother people but they are all over the place, sleeping on pavements but the security people on Segways were trying to move them along. I was dissapointed with the homeless occupying the Horton Plaza,we can't even sit down for they have taken seats and tables ( there's a Starbucks in the corner).I good walk to Little Italy and Gas Lamp District where all the shops are and great restaurants,so much choices... will definitely stay here again,Inn is near the 405 Freeway,so easy in and out.

"Great location "
anne01, 13 Octobre 2018

Just stayed here for 2 nights and it was great. The location is excellent, 15 dollars for parking when everywhere else is charging 30 dollars plus. Free breakfast , the rooms are dated but spotless , staff are lovely and I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to be near to everything in San Diego

"Top Rate"
mictrac0, 01 Octobre 2018

This hotel was excellent, the rooms where comfortable and clean. The location was perfect and the staff was outstanding and so courteous. Could not ask for anything better. The price you could not beat.

"Convenient, cute"
Randy2353, 27 Août 2018

A very good location close to downtown attractions. A pretty good value for the area. Easy parking, but not a lot available. A cute place in the middle of the city. Not a big place but easy to settle in, Has a little walkway with tables and lots of potted plants. Pretty clean overall. Can walk to Gaslamp and Petco Park, but walking back would probably safer to get a ride as some blocks can be a bit questionable. Not the biggest room or bathroom but it works. Has a good free breakfast in their small, but adequate dining room. No resort frills but serves it's purpose very well.

"Samll Quaint hotel, great location !"
Tim C, 12 Août 2018

We stayed for a brief overnight to see a baseball game. Great location to SD attractions, would stay there again. Everyone was very helpful :) Nice little hotel with a great, easy going vibe to it. Stay here and see the Gaslamp District !

"Best Western Stay"
jewell4maestas, 01 Août 2018

Great room, beds, staff, breakfast and quiet neighborhood in the city. I was in San Diego California on business and it was only a few min walk to my conference. The front desk had all the information I needed which included a map to where I needed to be and an awesome pizza place that delivered to my room. My experience was wonderful!!

"Affordable Option in a Great Location"
CyclingGeo, 21 Juillet 2018

This is an older property that is a bit outdated. That said, it is a great choice if you are looking for a downtown hotel that won't break the bank. It is in a location that is in reasonable walking distance to many of San Diego's attractions. If you don't mind a few hills you can walk to the harbor, USS Midway, the gaslamp district, Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, Little Italy, Petco Park, several craft breweries and a lot of quality restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable.

"Wet Days in SanDiego"
Bertie16, 10 Juillet 2018

The Cabrillio Motel, was easy to register with a nice guy at reception to greet us,the room was quite small though, just off the very small car park, all the normal facilities were on hand though, breakfast, although minimum was attended and nice, thank you, nothing to do with the hotel, but it the weather was quite wet, spoiling our visit somewhat, The staff here were very helpful with directions and informing us us places to view. An average Motel in a strange way but nice to settle in the big city.

"Very nice old city vibe"
fadedbluejeans, 04 Juin 2018

Surrounded by new urban buildings, this hotel/motel is a diamond in the rough. The exterior is clean, quaint, and the grounds are lush with flowers and shrubs in the small space the hotel occupies. Our room was clean and bathroom has been updated with modern fixtures. The room, including the bathroom, is very small with little room to spread out. I wasn't impressed with the mattress. It seemed to be either old or poor quality...maybe both. The included breakfast wasn't fancy or abundant with choices but the quality of the items provided was very good. All in all this hotel is very clean and the employees we encountered were very nice. Price was right for location, quality, and amenities.

"Small but cozy"
barbaraZ8341VR, 21 Mai 2018

The staff was fantastic, the room small but adequate, location not to bad and the room was very clean. I would definitely go back to this hotel again. Nice eating places within walking distance and close to cruise port and airport.

"Just what we needed"
RU4NJ, 05 Mai 2018

A dated Spanish style hotel that is kept clean and nicely decorated complete with a small table and chairs on the walkway outside the rooms. The rooms are small but comfortable and parking is limited at $15 a night. Free breakfast is included, but there are only two tables in the breakfast area inside and it was too cold to eat on the outside tables. The staff was friendly and informative. The location was great; close to the zoo, the Gaslamp district, and the Midway and seaport village. A very nice hotel at a reasonable price in a great location…a win, win, win.

"NOT THERE"
Lori S, 16 Avril 2018

I had called ahead to advise that we would be late in arriving. When we arrived, no one was there to receive us. I called their phone number. NO ANSWER. WE are in dispute over billing. I will not pay for what I did not get.

"Amazing Quaint Hotel"
parkes322, 05 Avril 2018

We were very pleased with this quaint hotel in the heart of San Diego. It is a small boutique hotel The room was clean, fresh, and the furnishings certainly fit the ambience that they are trying to achieve. Gardens and planters were lush and well kept and really added to the atmosphere. You could sit outside your room amongst the planters and shrubs which was very pleasant. Staff were excellent. Everything was very easy. Breakfast was perfect with fresh fruit, lots of variety. We highly recommend this facility.

"Very nice stay"
Deanna B, 02 Avril 2018

The rooms are small, the bathroom and closet space are small, but it is very nice. The room was very clean and comfortable. The service was amazing. The breakfast was really good, fresh, even has vegetarian options. (Almond milk included!) Would definitely stay again.

"Great Place to Stay, walking distance to the Zoo and Aerospace Museum"
ktp1012018, 01 Avril 2018

Fantastic place to stay. Free filling and tasty hot breakfast with an attendant. Although limited on-site parking, when we called that we would be checking in late, the staff saved a spot for us and even guided us to the spot, when we arrived! What a welcome surprise after a long and tiring drive from Northern California. Clean, quiet, informal atmosphere great for all types of guests, especially family. We recommend this highly! Economical and a great place to stay. Centrally located, walking distance to the gaslamp district, San Diego Zoo and the Aerospace Museum, and lots of food places around.

"Nice - would stay again"
User, 22 Mars 2018

We booked on the same day through the BW call centre and the consultant assisted us to get the best price possible - very helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. Thank you BW Cabrillo Garden Inn - we walked out of a different hotel within minutes of checking in and into your welcoming facilities instead. You saved our stay in San Diego! Very clean all over, very comfortable beds with super soft linens, and a well equipped ensuite. The complimentary breakfast had a surprisingly broad range of offerings (much, much more than we expected) and also included an almond milk alternative as well as fresh fruit. The location is perfectly placed between Balboa Park and the centre of the Gaslamp Quarter. Parking is additional but was very easy to manage and not exorbitantly priced given the area.

"Personal and easy"
OleSvendsby, 08 Mars 2018

After several big hotels, this stay was very "easy". Car parked outside the room and personal service at the front desk. The room and bathroom was a little small for family of 4, but clean and cosy. Short walking distance to the Gaslamp District.

"Nice Surprise!"
Rita W, 05 Mars 2018

The room was very nicely appointed and updated. The staff was wonderful, polite and helpful. The location turned out to be better than I expected and was central to activities as well as the conference center.

"Hidden Gem"
kadecd, 28 Février 2018

My husband and I stayed here in late Feb for two nights. We had never been to San Diego before but it was easy to find off I 5 and yet downtown. Easy 5 min drive to the zoo and the Midway Museum and aircraft carrier. Walked down a few blocks to the Gaslamp Quarter for dinner. The staff were great , good breakfast and nice rooftop patio. Would highly recommend fir couples

"Cute hotel"
Selena L, 29 Janvier 2018

I have stayed here twice and it was always a great stay. Very friendly staff, and clean rooms. It's very cute and quiet and has a nice roof top lounge area. I love all the plants and the general "vibe" of this hotel. Oh yeah, and free breakfast is always great!

"Morning"
R9916YIdavidc, 08 Janvier 2018

Good breakfast! I said good breakfast, that should be enough-why insist on 200 letters when all I have to say is good breakfast yet you insist that I take the time to enter 200 letters-your room was good this review stinks. I am tired typing now is this 200?

"thank you BW Cabrillo, San Diego"
annekV4156NO, 02 Janvier 2018

everyone from the office management - sonny & olivia - to the staff - carlos & olga - to the housekeeping ladies - jackie and rocio - is helpful and nice at the BW cabrillo in san diego. due to unfortunate circumstances, i ended up having to extend my stay to 2 1/2 weeks which included christmas, but everyone at the BW was so nice and the accommodations so safe and satisfactory, i did not have to worry. may thanks to all who work at the BW cabrillo in san diego.

"Excellent hotel at walkable distance to Gaslamp quarter"
Anita0007, 01 Janvier 2018

Clean rooms, excellent service. Would stay again while Victoria San Diego. It is close all major attractions in San Diego. Perfect stay for couples and also family. The hotel offers parking space although is paid.

"Very Nice, Quaint Hotel"
briansZ6804ZE, 18 Décembre 2017

The small 30 room hotel is nestled within walking distance to just about everything downtown San Diego. The rooms are quaint, very clean and comfortable. Hotel receptionists are truly friendly and helpful. Very nice, but very small breakfast room. Overall this hotel is a gem. I would recommend it in an instant.

"Another Great Stay"
Linda R, 17 Décembre 2017

This is the greatest place to stay in San Diego nestled in among giant buildings but with a cozy, home atmosphere. Staff is always warm and welcoming and go out of their way to make your stay the best. Great TV too for down time with two Hallmark Channels and TCM in addition to other great channels. Location perfect for Symphony Hall and other destinations.

"Comfortable stay"
juanng2017, 02 Décembre 2017

I like this hotel because it is very quiet and their beds are very comfortable which provides a good night sleep. On a business trip I always need a reliable intetnet connection and Best Western Hotels provide a reliable internet connection.

"Charming Spanish Colonial-Style Hotel"
WBrown_from_TO, 15 Novembre 2017

The Best Western Cabrillo Garden Inn was a delightful surprise, and full of charm, comfort and character. I admit: I had been expecting a somewhat anonymous chain hotel, but this one is a lovely two-storey Spanish colonial style with red tiles and plants everywhere. Breakfast was mostly outside, and there were painted tiles in the flooring. The first and second floors are accessed by outside walkways (a huge novelty to this Canadian) and had little seating areas throughout where you could just relax among the flowers. (The views are largely of the parking lot, but so well-greened with flowers and plants that I didn't mind.) There is a rooftop patio that is perfect for relaxing - again, with plenty of plants, and some comfy patio couches. Just by luck, we were assigned room 216, a corner room, which was particularly nice as it had a bit more space, a big round table and two windows. Breakfast as yummy and the staff were friendly, the rooms were sparkling clean and had all the regular comforts you could want. Everything downtown in San Diego is walkable from here: the conference centre is about 35 minutes, as is the USS Midway. Balboa Park is a short walk in the opposite direction. And it's just around the corner from Hodad's (amazing burgers!) and Valentine's (great Mexican food). (Seriously: if you're in San Diego and you're not a vegetarian, you have to try Hodad's. I think I had a religious conversion.) All together, we liked this hotel better than the fancy hotel on the harbour where our travel companions stayed (and paid substantially more). This hotel has more character and charm - and reflects the history of the region so much better.

"Girls Trip!"
lisaamandag, 10 Novembre 2017

In the hub of the Gaslamp district; walking distance to eateries & culture. Clean room, cute corner Location, near freeway, & friendly staff. Parking, breakfast & Wi-Fi included which added to the value. Thanks for a great stay!

"Best Western Cabrillo Garden Inn"
kaitlynaliseg, 31 Octobre 2017

I was staying in San Diego for the week for a conference. I had a wonderful experience at the Best Western. I slept great, the rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The location is walking distance to the Gaslamp district, but on the east side, and it a little grubby compared to the area around the convention center. However, I felt completely safe walking to and from the hotel. There is a mini fridge, a comprehensive and delicious breakfast buffet (compared to other three star hotel free buffets), and nice roof top terrace. If I had one tip for improvement, there would be more counter space in the bathroom and room. Overall, I would happily stay there in the future.

"Friendly staff, Comfy bed."
BirdKom, 27 Octobre 2017

Staffs are very friendly. Bed and pillows are comfortable. I stayed on 2nd floor and some area of the floor in front of the bathroom made noises, which may be disturbing for one who stayed at 1st floor.

"Liars and Cheats"
madveshm2017, 08 Septembre 2017

Things promised at the time of reservation were not available. Parking and breakfast sucks. The hotel staff was not helpful, may be should not be in hospitality business. The location, if you want to be near gas lamp district, is the only positive thing about this hotel

"Clean and comfortable"
BridgeMomLosAngeles, 05 Septembre 2017

This hotel is convenient, pleasant, clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The rooms have been updated with nice decor. Cons: rooms are very small and dark. Bathroom is small and toilet is situated so poorly that anyone over a certain weight will have trouble squeezing in there. If you're visiting and need just a place to crash, you'll get your needs met. WiFi and breakfast decent. Expedia usually has a good member rate on this hotel cheaper than BW.com.

"4 day stay in Cabrillo Garden Inn"
franksH4268ID, 27 Août 2017

Service, value, cleanliness and location was great. We loved the breakfast. The room and specially the bathroom is very small. The hotel is walking distance from all the mayor attractions in San Diego.

"Great value in a great part of town"
juanaangelicae, 23 Août 2017

I had a great experience and decided to sign up for the rewards program based on my stay here last month. the gaslamp district is just a stone's throw away and it was very easy to get around on foot, and cheap to uber

"Excellent hotel at amazing price!"
chantalv642, 12 Août 2017

We stayed one week and really appreciate our stay. Carlos at the front desk was very helpful in guiding us during our journey in San Diego and surroundings. The room was always clean. The staff very kind and helpful. The terrasse on the roof is great! The location is amazing: By car or Uber, you can get easily everywhere. If you like walking, you can easily get everywhere within the city. We recommend strongly this hotel which is quite economical.

"Amazing"
Oscar W, 10 Août 2017

I'm out of words. Just the welcoming from the staff, he went out of his way to show us recommendations in the City (areas to stay away from and recommendations according to our intrests). It's beautiful with all the small lights and vegetation (it feels like a peaceful suburbia, a oasis in the middle of the City). Parking is CRAZY affordable, 15$ a night. The stylig of the rooms feels a bit like staying at my grandparents house, in a guestroom. For this price, so close to the downtown restaurantstreet, me and my friend couldn't be happier. (Tierd of stressful and robot-like staff and all-around lack of personality that you get in the bigger and much more expensive hotel complexes) Now I am sitting outside my room and just feel blessed.

"Cabrillo Inn"
F2070UYstevew, 02 Août 2017

A very nice hotel downtown by the Gas Lamp section. Great location and close to the airport. The staff was very courteous and the room was spotless. Ease of access to and from I-5 is good. Close to the zoo and Sea World and many more sights from the beach to historical sites.

"Great place to stay"
debralynnw, 07 Juillet 2017

Small room but spotless. Decent breakfast--typical fare for hotels. Great location for restaurants--within walking distance so no need to search for parking. Possible to walk to Broadway Pier (1 mile) and to walk/jog to Balboa Park (1+ mile). Would stay there again.

"Good location"
Mattie B, 26 Juin 2017

Good location. Room was well maintained and was clean. The air-conditioner should be upgraded. The bathroom was very small with a very small toilet. The breakfast was adequate. Nice sitting areas in front of the rooms. There should be help with getting luggage upstairs or a ramps for the second floor rooms.

"Immoral hotel management"
Wouterjansen, 11 Juin 2017

Called Best Western Cabrillo Inn with explicit request to make a reservation for a room as alternative option, asking hotel staff member if I'd be incurred any cost if I canceled the room on the same day. Staff member explicitly confirmed that I could cancel without any charges. Booked another (preferred) hotel and canceled within a matter of hours on same day (within a few hours even). Thinking all is fine, the same staff member calls back to say that after discussing the cancellation with his hotel manager, a cancellation fee will be incurred. After filing a complaint with Best Western, it turns out the hotel manager denies that the first conversation never happened (so basically implying I'm a liar), and passing the mistake of the staff member onto the customer. After raising this concern with Best Western, no-one takes responsibility. Extremely poor customer experience.

"business and fun"
Sam-loveNewYork-, 28 Mai 2017

I like the location. Close enough to walk to the city, but far enough to be quiet. Room is clean and breakfast is very good. The best part was the staff. They are extremely polite and helpful. They went above and beyond to make my stay so comfortable.

"Great Front Desk/Great experience"
Alpha M, 17 Mai 2017

It was last weekend that I had an emergency here in San Diego and I wasn't sure what to do I turned to this hotel and I was met with Carlos at the front desk who was amazing and not only helping me get settled in but also making me feel the comfort that the hotel Stauffer. The hotel was very clean very peaceful very Serene and it's definitely a garden situation two thumbs up I would recommend this place to everybody

"Amazing staff"
554lklu, 12 Mai 2017

Extremely friendly staff and the rooms were clean and cozy. The hotel was in the perfect location for us, walking distance from Petco Park and Gaslamp and only a mile drive from the zoo. Breakfast had a good selection and everything tasted great!

"Comfortable stay"
franciscooW7129KN, 11 Mai 2017

Our stay in this hotel was very comfortable. It wasn't noisy. The room was a lot smaller than I thought it would be but the beds were comfortable and we were literally just there to sleep. The only issue we had was parking. There was no parking in the hotel so we had to park our car on the street which I didn't like but at least we didn't have to pay the parking fee which was nice of them.

"Nice stay"
Charles M, 13 Avril 2017

Extremely Clean Hotel. Beds a little soft. Nicer older hotel with a good hot breakfast. Bathrooms a little small but extremely clean!! Near Gaslamp area so no need to drive anywhere!!! Staff very friendly and quite helpful.

"Downtown Ready"
Alain B, 10 Avril 2017

This location was great, visually appealing from the outside and everything you need inside. Parking is tricky but if arriving after 6 street parking is free. Parking is 15 dollars so not really a deal breaker

"Pleasantly surprised!"
Anna N, 10 Avril 2017

Driving into the small parking lot of the hotel, I wasn't sure what to expect. It looked like they really tried to give a garden feel to it with hanging succulents and different plants all around. I arrived at 11, too early to check in but they let me park in their lot for the $15 (wish it were included),. The parking area is small but backing in helps. I have a Jeep Cherokee and had no problems. The room was small but clean and cute. I was there for a bachelorette party and fake diamond rings were hidden around the room, so I can attest to the cleanliness since 9 girls looked for rings in almost every inch of the room. One downside of the hotel was being woken up a couple different times by sirens and honking but it is the downtown area. Breakfast was very nice- pancakes, sausages, eggs, different breads and muffins, cereal, yogurt, granola, fruit, almond milk, teas and coffee. There was a waffle maker but I didn't see batter. The woman working in the breakfast area was very efficient and helpful. They had a nice little seating area outside and tables and seats outside some of the rooms. The hotel was walking distance to everything we did, maybe a 10 min walk. I would stay again.

"Cute place to stay!"
kristi B, 02 Avril 2017

This building is old, which means that the rooms (especially bathrooms) are very small but super clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful and friendly. Close to our planned activities. Would stay there again.

"Stayed for 5 nights and would stay again"
Sarah S, 30 Mars 2017

Lovely little hotel with nice, clean rooms and facilities. Excellent front of house staff. Carlos was so helpful in terms of the city, what to do and how to get around. 10 minute walk to the Gaslamp area.

"Charming little motel in the middle of city"
WeeKee, 29 Mars 2017

My family of 4 stayed here in a family room, and we loved our 2-night stay. The folks at the hotel are friendly (esp. Carlos is really chatty and immensely informative!). The quaint and charming motel just kind of sticks out in the midst of modern buildings in the area, and yet is very quiet even though it sits at a small junction. Our room is spacious and comfortable, but it lacks a microwave. Location-wise the BW is pretty central. Gastown is within walking distance. Balboa Park and the bay as well if you have strong legs, or it's just a quick Uber ride away. The trolley station is just 2 streets away. Breakfast area is small, but the spread and quality we found above the average motel we've stayed in. Wifi is reliable and free. Overall BW Cabrillo Hill punches above its belt for the price bracket it is in.

"Convenient location and offering good basic accomodation"
Everett D, 28 Novembre 2016

The hotel is next to the downtown hip area (gaslamp) and was very clean. It has more of a boutique hotel feel with a reasonably good breakfast. The room tended to be on the smaller side but it was sufficient for a short stay. The staff was friendly and the front desk attendants were always ready to help. There is a fee for parking on the premises. Also just opposite the hotel there is a convenient mini-mart for essentials

"Good place for conferences participants"
993viacheslavv, 17 Novembre 2016

Friendly stuff, clean rooms, fast WiFi, good breakfasts, close to public transport stops and downtown. Everything was good for conference participant. Only my room was dark, so it was necessary to turn on light even during daytime.

"Overrated"
dnahc408, 26 Octobre 2016

The only reason this hotel is charges what it does is because it's in a prime location. I found and killed a couple of baby roaches in the bathroom. There were mold stains on my pillow case (after I slept on it...yuck)! The breakfast wasn't so bad but the floors and tables were sticky. Cleanliness is definitely not on the top of their list. We checked out the next day, paid a little bit more at another hotel with much better service.

"Accomodating "
Amy V, 16 Octobre 2016

I booked this hotel last minute and showed up hours before check in. The man at the front desk (I dont know his name) was welcoming and friendly . He was extremely accomodating and allowed me to check in early with only a 15 minute wait while housekeeping finished cleaning the room. The room itself was very clean including the bathroom and the bed and pillows were comfortable. This hotel is centrally located close to everything you could ever want to do in downtown San Diego. I would stay here again.

"Charming hotel in a great location"
Hope G, 15 Octobre 2016

I have stayed twice now for business at Best Western Cabrillo Garden Inn and had a great experience both times. If you're looking for super modern facilities, this probably isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for a hotel with charm that is clean, has friendly staff and is in a great location, then you will enjoy your stay here. I highly recommend it!

"fat pillows"
James S, 13 Octobre 2016

Great hotel except for the fat pillows.. Most hotels now use fat pillows. They hurt your neck. Give the guests skinny pillows and if they want a fat pillow, they can pile them up. But you can't make a fat pillow skinny.

"Great Location and Great Service"
Suzanne D, 30 Août 2016

Nice little hidden gem. Walking distance to the Gaslamp district, Little Italy, the pier just about anywhere you want to go. Also a few blocks to San Diego's transportation stops, stations including Amtrak.

"small hotel surrounded by big buildings"
Recy H, 21 Août 2016

The most expensive room I have stayed at with Best Western. Beautiful outdoor landscaping, older building that looks to have been remodeled recently. Small bathroom with a big shower. very Expensive and limited parking. But that's an issue any where near downtown San Diego.

"Great Value and Location"
Sue V, 21 Août 2016

Excellent location; walking distance to Petco Park, Gaslamp Dist., and saturday morning Farmer's Market. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Rooftop patio is a nice place to cap off the evening viewing the city.

"Great location"
arlynnh543, 09 Août 2016

This was conveniently located near all the sights. The rooms were clean & comfortable. Like many hotels of this era it could use some updating for more outlets for electronics. An outlet at the nightstands would be helpful for using your laptop on the bed. This could be easily remedied with a light fixture w/ an outlet in it

"Unexpected"
Gerardo I, 04 Août 2016

I saw a couple bad reviews and was scared after I booked my nights here. But then the unexpected happened. This is a really good place to stay. It has parking, breakfast. The personnel is really good. Maryha in the mourning is always aware, if you need something she is there ready to serve you. Also Carlos the recepcionist is very proffessional and willing to provide the best service. He oriented me on good places to eat around the city and showed me some good places of interest. If i have to come back to San Diego this will be my option to stay again.

"great weekend getaway! "
mcruss125, 18 Juillet 2016

this was a great little hotel for our weekend getaway! at the time of booking the receptionist was awesome in letting us know parking was very limited and instructed us to come to the hotel first before going to the zoo to get our parking permit for the weekend! we were able to check in early and get our permit. the hotel was clean and quiet. the walkway balconies were cute with a table and chairs for seating outside your room. the hotel is perfectly placed a few blocks from Petco park, the Gaslamp Quarters, a few min drive to the harbor and the Zoo. theres a little liquor mart right across the street for convenience and a ralphs store a couple blocks down the street. the only issue we had was the AC was under the window blowing straight into the side of the bed so in order to get the room cool we had to keep the curtains open and keep adjusting it upwards which left little privacy when people walked by. overall the hotel was great and i would def stay here on our next trip!

"Restful night after July 4th celebration."
LookingToSee, 13 Juillet 2016

If you are looking for something fancy Cabrillo Garden Inn is not for you. However its convenient location, nice, accommodating staff and tastefully decorated rooms left a pleasant impression with us. We will stay there again!

"Little Gem"
T293XImarkb, 12 Juillet 2016

This hotel is hidden among the high-rises in downtown San Diego, but it's worth the find. Rooms were clean and well decorated. Staff was attentive and helpful. Property is within walking distance of the Gas Lamp district and Petco Park.

"Mister Inbetween"
Hugh David G, 07 Juillet 2016

Good people, well maintained in an out with thoughtful landscaping that lives up to it's name. Plenty of restaurants in the area, as well as symphony, civic center, and city hall : check it out, and you will be pleasantly surprised.

"watch out for trouble"
Raymond R, 30 Juin 2016

Had problems with the plumbing and homeless. The staff was not helpful and did not give us any reason to return to this location ever. the night staff was helpful as much as they could but the management did not care at all.

"great staff"
debahrke, 04 Juin 2016

Have stayed here twice and have been pleased. Comfy, clean , and the staff is great. Olga is very helpful. Breakfast has a nice selection. will stay again. close to horton plaza and gaslamp. very convienient

"Great downtown Location"
Mz_Lz, 28 Mai 2016

Nice value for a downtown Inn. Easy walk to bus lines and many downtown areas. The front staff was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was just fine and we enjoyed the roof top seating. Rooms were old and needed updating but were charming and clean.

"great stay"
Gary J, 18 Mai 2016

We were very pleased with the friendliness of the staff and their knowledge of San Diego and the help they gave us. the breakfast was awesome with great selection every morning that was different foods. The rooms were very clean and great location for our purposes.

"Cozy on Cortez Hill"
Michael N, 15 Avril 2016

I was impressed with this clean and cozy little gem. It appears to be a well done renovation of an old travel lodge type motel. Rooms very quiet. Didn't really notice the construction on the adjacent street. The breakfast was excellent and satisfying and the breakfast area, I'll say it again, cozy. Not a luxury hotel but most certainly adequate.

"Best Customer Service"
897royceb, 14 Avril 2016

Excellent customer servive. Staff goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. rooms are clean, parking is available. Love the free wi-fi worked great. Near gas light district so everything is available and close by. Can walk to any attraction downtown

"Best little hotel in San Diego"
Michael H, 29 Mars 2016

I travel over 100 nights per year on business. I accidentally stumbled onto this hidden treasure in San Diego. Extremely clean, comfortable, and nicely equipped. Super friendly and service oriented staff. Not at all what I expected with a budget hotel. This is a real gem. I'll stay again on my next trip to San Diego. Although It's a mile walk to the convention center, Its a walk through the Gas Lamp District and I really enjoyed the extra exercise and fresh air. San Diego isn't a bad place for walking.

"Not that great"
LMRD, 16 Mars 2016

We stayed here for one night since we were attending a concert at the San Diego Civic Theatre... close walk to venue, which is nice. As far as the room, the bed itself was comfortable but pillows were these little half pillows that were a little too hard--Breakfast was not great--Potatoes had a strange flavor and eggs tasted off. Will not be back. In addition, suggest a microwave in the rooms-- Usually a staple in a Best Western / Holiday Inn Express type hotel.

"A little charmer"
David D, 11 Mars 2016

Small but charming little place in the business district of San Diego. If you need to be in the area, this is the perfect spot. Staff delightful. Rooms small but clean and include amenities you would expect - safe, refrigerator. Added bonus - within walking distance of Gaslamp District where you will find innumerable restaurants, bars, live music, and so much more. Felt safe, as well.

"Great location, reasonably priced"
Jim P, 08 Mars 2016

It's a small two story hotel surrounded by new high rise buildings. It's in walking distance (about 6 blocks) of the Gaslamp Quarter. We had the room on the east end of the first floor, and the bathroom was the smallest I've ever seen in a hotel. The new flooring that was being installed in the other rooms on the first floor looks like a great improvement over the rug in our room. The breakfast was typical of a Best Western, and they had a good selection with limited space.

"Great little Hotel"
Jim g, 06 Mars 2016

We always stay at the Cabrillo Garden Inn when in SanDiego. It has a great location and feel safe. It's pretty comfortable, clean and has a welcoming ,helpful staff. The breakfast is fresh with a selection of items. It's in walking distance of the Gas Lamp Quarter and trollies/buses.

"nice hotel"
Jody Anne H, 21 Février 2016

The hotel rooms and grounds were very neat and clean, we had an extremely comfortable bed. The room had just been renovated, so the amenities were all new. The internet was easily accessed and the speed was good... The staff were very friendly and helpful.. This hotel is walking distance to the House of Blues and only a couple minutes drive to city centre. There is a convenience store directly across the road.

"3 nights were perfect, but 1 was LOUD"
IowaMV, 01 Février 2016

As others have said, this is a clean hotel with an extremely attentive and friendly staff. They really seem to try hard to "go the extra mile," and are generally very responsive. Location is good, an easy walk from Gas Lamp district, convention center, etc. Uber rides to just about everything in the area were less than $5. For the first 3 days/nights, we were discussing how much we loved this hotel, and how we'd need to give it a high rating on TripAdvisor. But on the 4th night (a Sat. night), it got extremely loud. At about 6pm that evening, I asked the staff in the office whether they tend to enforce rules about loud parties, because it had already started. At 3:00am the next morning, the party finally ended. How loud was it? I had foam earplugs in, and could clearly hear it-- the thumping bass was hard to miss. There were red plastic cups in the parking lot the next morning, so the party must have spilled out into the parking area. Based on our experiences Wed-Sat, I'd say this is a gem of a hotel, and the price is right. Based on Sat night, I'll just say we won't go back. Navigating through airports and connecting flights is "interesting" at best when you've only had 2 hours of sleep the night before.

"Good budget find"
Joseph M, 31 Janvier 2016

This property was chosen for a last minute getaway. Being only a two hour drive, San Diego is one of our favorite areas to visit. Although we prefer to stay downtown, hotel room rates do influence our choice. Several conventions were in session during the time of our visit so hotels vacancies and room rates were at a premium. We selected the Best Western because of it's room rate, location and previous experience with the chain. The Cabrillo Garden Inn is a pretty good find that won't break your budget. The property has maintained it's mid-century motel aura rather well. It's rooms are small and modestly appointed. If your requirements included any luxury, look elsewhere. If a clean room with a great location and fair room rate meets you needs than this is your place.

"Great boutique hotel/motel, well located"
G8443PLstephenr, 20 Janvier 2016

Stayed here ever time we visit San Diego for its convenience, friendly staff and well serviced rooms, clean and quiet but close to down town and the airport. Breakfasts are great. Always return to the same hotel every time we visit and as a stopover for Baja trips.

"From Ottawa"
Vivianne R, 17 Janvier 2016

This hotel is very well located. It is near all the activities in Gaslamp and several of the activities in the area such as the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park. It caters to a more budget conscious traveller as breakfast is included. It lack amenities and the parking is rather expensive at $15/night.

"Great little downtown"

Very pleasant staff great rates and downtown location. Will stay again. Rooms are very nicely furnished, good amenities. Downtown location very convenient for business and close to freeway but far enough to be quiet.

"Decent budget choice with excellent staff."

This hotel is not located in the Gaslight quarter but is about a ten minute walk away. The staff are helpful and friendly both on reception and in the breakfast room. The rooms are pretty small (the refrigerator is on the shelf in the closet) but clean and had everything we needed. It is a basic hotel with no pool or fitness room. There is a roof-top seating area but no bar. There is an onsite guest self-laundry but as it is in between two guest rooms on the top floor, it can generally only be used between 0900 and 1500, when most guests are likely to be out, though if no one is staying in the adjacent rooms, the staff will let you use the facilities in the evening. The breakfast is good and varied with different hot dishes every day. As others have said, the parking lot is quite small and the spaces are at a premium even though they cost $15 per night. Luckily we handed our rental car back on the second day so only paid for one night. The area is okay, it's just sad that there are so many homeless people, many of whom have mental health issues so it can be a wee bit daunting, couple with the strong smell of urine that hits you frequently, which I was not expecting. That aside, the hotel location is fine and only a five minute walk to the 992 bus stop, from which you can get to the airport without transferring. All in all it served it's purpose and we were happy enough but it's the staff that really make this place worth staying in.

Cabrillo Garden Inn is very central for a 30min walk to the Convention Center, easy access to the airport, Zoo,etc.. and lots of Restaurants within easy walking distance. The Hotel Staff were awesome in every aspect of making our stay a most enjoyable experience!

"Wonderful little motel"
Ruth D, 01 Décembre 2015

Don't let the two stars fool you. This is a wonderful motel. Clean rooms with very comfortable beds and pillows that are not flat pancakes. They do not have a pool but your there to see the ocean right? The staff is friendly and right on top of any problem you might have. Our tv remote kept locking up and they fixed it right away when we told them about it. The breakfast is very good, both hot and cold foods offered. We were welcomed with a smile even with a late arrival on Thanksgiving evening and offered bottles of water and a nice muffin. They speak several languages and are very accomadating. They are locacted off a freeway and very close to Balboa park and if your there for a cruise they are very close to the harbor. This is our second stay here and will most certainly stay here again. I love all the pots of plants hence the name garden inn. We highly recommend this motel!

"Affable staff, very clean room, close to Balboa Park"

We booked a double-bed room, which while small, was spotless clean, bath included. Nothing fancy, it just does the job. Beds are comfortable. Right across the street there's a convenience store, for buying water, or milk. Perfect for the price.

A nice quiet motel midst high rise apartments- small- 20 rooms- we had room with view- others had view of parking lot- good rates but charge $15 night for parking. Walking distance to gaslight district and shopping mall-unfortunately must walk by many homeless.Great staff! Very good breakfast with usual muffins, etc but with hot food included- eggs, waffles, etc. Free computer in lobby.

"Perfect Place to Stay"
Susan O, 11 Septembre 2015

Located in the heart of San Diego, we enjoyed staying at this small, comfortable, service oriented hotel. Just a few minutes from the San Diego Zoo, Gas Lamp block, and Horton Plaza. The continental breakfasts provided were more than we expected....we did not want to go elsewhere. Warm staff. Perfect choice! Will return! So thankful we picked the right place to stay.

This is more of a motel. The room was clean. The bathroom is very tiny. Unless you show early, there will be no parking for you. (Parking is not free and the lot is very tiny) There is no pool or hot tub so as long as all you want is a basic room, this will be perfect for you. Employees are ok.

"Small but nice hotel."

Planned a trip to San Diego for 4 nights with my BF and chose this hotel because I'm usually happy with Best Western hotels. They are pretty consistent. Upon arrival I felt a bit underwhelmed since it appeared so tiny amongst the surrounding high rises. Our room on the second floor was pretty small and the bathroom had little counter space (but the two of us managed since there was a little shelf in the corner). Nonetheless, our stay was pleasant. The beds and pillows allowed a comfortable sleep. This hotel is nearby a busy street though and the noise from traffic can be loud. The included continental breakfast had a wide variety of options such as: white or whole-wheat bread, bagels, english muffins, oatmeal packets, banana nut or chocolate muffins, danishes, eggs, sausages, hashbrowns, waffles, cereals, fruits... basically almost anything you could think of as breakfast food they had it. The hot food offerings changed a bit each day. The breakfast attendant was pleasant. Our rooms were cleaned nicely every day. No complaints there. Overall, I can't really complain, it was a good stay for the price we paid and service we received.

"Cozy and Convenient"

I chose this hotel because it is only one mile from Petco Park, which allowed us to walk to and from the Taylor Swift concert there. I like the appearance of this hotel, especially the lobby area, but the room itself is tiny. Staff was friendly, and there were lots of breakfast options. We did not encounter any problems during our stay.
