Best Western Plus Bayside Inn

The Best Western Bayside is an amazing deal, Value Value Value! I think a lot of Tripadvisor users look for hotels that offer a good place to stay at a reasonable price and this place hits the nail on the head!! When I was looking for a place to stay in San Diego I wanted a location downtown near the water and the main areas of entertainment; Little Italy, the Marina etc. I started pricing hotels back in August of 2023, I found the Best Western Bayside to be a LOT cheaper than the other hotels in the Harbor / Downtown area. Initially I wanted to book in early March but they were sold out for that entire week, almost 8 months in advance! That should tell you something, this place is a deal! Lets start with the GOOD! Great Location - on the edge of Little Italy, walking distance to the Marina. We came in on the Amtrak Surfliner, the Santa Fe train station is only a few blocks away so we walked over to the hotel. The Airport if very close to the downtown area so our Lyft / Uber total was only $11.00 to the airport. San Diego has a great transit system, the MTS, they have terminals all over and they have started a new project for a street car / train route directly to the airport. We loved the airport, compact and easy to use. the Amtrak Stations also have MTS and Coastar (street car type) routes going through them. Super nice hotel, newer looking, well appointed rooms and public areas and everything functions properly from the elevator to the lobby computer. Great rooms, large enough to be comfortable, well finished, Comfortable bed and nice linens Bathroom was perfect in execution and cleanliness, there was even a little container with Q-tips and cotton balls (see picture)- good towels and amenities. Nice infused coffee maker that worked perfectly, frig, microwave were great. We paid extra for the Harbor View ad it was so worth it! Great view and a nice small balcony. This Harbor View really made our stay, the sunsets are amazing. Great housekeeping staff - we would lie to thank our Housekeeper, Victoria, for a great job and a lovely attitude. Pool is small but in a very nice, enclosed area. The Not so Good Breakfast is dispensed in a bag from the front desk, it was adequate, since you have a good coffee maker in the room and lobby you can appreciate a bag breakfast. The lobby has a vending area selling snacks and drinks. There is a Starbucks across the street, a drug store a few blocks down and a load of restaurants in walking distance. I think the breakfast options were good but there is no dining area to speak of unless you use the pool area. Really this place felt new and there were no signs of age. I sort of expected an aging hotel from the 90's Best Westerns that use to be everywhere, but this place is a Hyatt / Marriott quality Inn at a Best Western Price, I was very impressed. If you're looking to stay in Downtown San Diego this place is a can't lose proposition. I joined the Best Western Guest Rewards and noticed the point totals never expire, seems like a fair deal! Anyway check it out - the Best Western Bayside Inn rocks!

I have complained to the Manager, Tracy, via email, on two occasions, with no response. Saddened and annoyed that no one has had the courtesy to address my complaint. The location is good but that is it. We were here for a week. The Housekeeping at this hotel is poor and non-existent…no daily service but allegedly every third day? This did not happen and I had to speak to Reception as we had run out of all the essentials and our trash was over flowing. When we arrived, the room was not as clean as we had hoped. We had to ‘service' our room which was unacceptable. We paid a lot for the room and, in addition, $20 per night parking! The Reception staff were told but we never felt that our concerns were taken seriously. We visit the USA frequently from the UK and use many hotels…our recent stay in a BW in the UK was very good.

The hotel is in a perfect location. You can walk to many restaurants and the bay. Parking is $22 a day. Easy in and out and easy to maneuver in the garage. Breakfast is a grab and go bag but sufficient. There is a coffee machine by the elevator and I had a decent cappuccino If you desire there is a Starbucks across the street. Also a great Italian Restaurant on the corner. Front desk employees were very nice.

Friendly helpful staff. Secured hotel, needed your room card to get on the elevator to get to your room first time in San Diego, and searched for room prices and they were in the range of what we paid

San Diego was our last stop after an amazing 16 days of travelling the west coast, during which we had stayed in 7 hotels and motels of different star ratings. In every other hotel and motel the customer service had been superb. We arrived at this hotel around 2.30pm the receptionist didn't greet us or smile. We asked if it was ok to check in, she said yes and then asked for $20. There was no discussion, no attempt at negotiation or even making us feel like she was trying her best to sort it out. Plain and simple $20 regardless of only being around an hour ahead of check in. We decided to pay it because we didn't want to sit around waiting, knowing we only had two nights and wanting to get as full an experience as possible of San Diego. The room was adequate and had everything we needed and was clean, slightly dated but clean. The location of the hotel is excellent, but there are also other hotels in the same location. The free breakfast offered appeared to be a roll of some description in a plastic bag. There is no restaurant so we didn't bother. The rooms are not cleaned or made up unless you request it, but that is only available on day 3. The next morning we were woken very early by loud noise and realised that the building next to us was being worked on. Our photos show that it is only finished half way up, so the work was going on opposite our window. The noise was so loud that even with ear plugs it sounded like it was in the room. We could easily make out the workmen's conversation. We didn't sleep from that point on. Rather than leave it we spoke to reception that morning and said that we had an issue with our room because of the noise. Again there were no smiles or politeness, just the response that they advise on their website that there is work being completed. We had booked via Trailfinders in February of this year, I would have hoped that if Trailfinders had been aware of any such notification they would have told us and we would never book a hotel where building work is being completed nearby. Realising that there was nothing they intended to do about it, we asked that as a gesture of goodwill could they facilitate a slightly later check out the following day at 3.30pm as we needed to be at the airport for 4pm (not exactly asking for another nights stay). We were told no. We explained that we didn't want this to spoil what had been an amazing experience, they eventually said they would let us check out at midday but that was all, we asked if they would reconsider and they pushed themselves to 1pm. You may read that and think ‘well that's ok' but the whole conversation was an unfriendly battle, in which we were made to feel terribly annoying and irritating and that we were asking for something unreasonable. The following day we checked out at 1pm and asked to stow our luggage which they did. When we dropped our luggage there was no ‘have you had a great time, everything to your satisfaction?' kind of customer service. Literally nothing. I have no doubt that the hotel will absolve themselves of any acceptance that what I am saying is true. I've read their replies on previous reviews. They said on one negative review that they would take that persons feedback to ensure better customer experience. This was in May. They clearly haven't. I have no idea why they didn't put us on the side of the hotel away from the noise as we were staying for two nights. I can also only assume that they employ a minimal amount of housekeepers hence the issues with not being cleaned and with not being able to facilitate a slightly later check out. Overall my main complaint should be the ridiculous noise levels, but the total lack of customer service offered at any point comes a very close second. I am so pleased we had such a positive experience of American customer service everywhere else. I would never advice anyone to not stay here - that's a personal choice. But if you stay here accept that your room won't be cleaned or made up for 3 days, you may feel like you're on a building site (if unlucky enough to be on the wrong side of the building) and that there is nothing in the way of customer service. Would I stay again? Not a chance.

The huge construction project next door starts around 2am. We got no sleep and staff was not willing to put us on the other side of the hotel. They said there would be and up charge. There was dusty cobwebs all over the ceiling and curtains. We ended up switching hotels and stayed at the Guild Hotel for the rest of our trip which was a much nicer, quieter hotel for a little less than what we spent at Best Western.

I made a reservation at this hotel in July 2023 for the night before my husband and I were to depart on a cruise in October. Several days before our arrival I reviewed the hotel information and noticed in very small print: "No restaurant onsite. Construction adjacent hotel on private project." We were given a room directly across from the high rise construction. I thought, okay I am sure the work that is going on will end well before we go to bed, and it did. However, it began again in the morning at 5:25 a.m! Needless to say we did not have a good night's sleep. Perhaps rooms that are not on that side of the building are quieter, but I believe the hotel should do a better job of informing their customers about this issue.

My husband and I recently had a 2 night stay at this hotel. Check in is from 4pm but we arrived much earlier (around 12pm) and asked if we could just pay for our car park bill ($22 a night) and then check into our room later on. We were told “oh well your room is actually ready now if you'd like to check in?” So we thought ok we may as well then. She then finished with “that will be an extra $20 for early check in” which we felt was a bit misleading as they said the room was ready. We stayed in room 911 which had 2 double beds, a safety deposit box and standard bathroom. What I did notice is that the bedroom doors did not automatically close themselves, you had to pull the door when leaving the room to ensure it was shut. We noticed a few other guests' doors a little ajar. The hotel was located opposite a Starbucks which was great! We had some issues with our car rental company and the staff on front desk were kind enough to help us with that and let us use their phone to make a call. The breakfast is very basic, a grab and go bag with a breakfast bagel that you have to warm up using the microwave in your room. We assumed this probably started during the pandemic and it has stayed. We would have expected a hot buffet breakfast. The hotel is in a great location, short walk to lots of restaurants, bars, the waterfront and Little Italy which we would definitely recommend. Check out is at 11am but they give this complimentary until 12pm which we opted for and this helped us out. There is a small outdoor swimming pool but we did not get the chance to make use of this.

After searching many hotels in the bay area, we picked the BW Plus Bayside. We stayed here for 5 nights and have absolutely no complaints. The front end/office clerks were efficient, the hot choc & coffee all day was great, the "grab n go" breakfast bags were decent, the elevators were fast, we enjoyed the pool and hot tub every day but best of all was the location. So close to Little Italy, Gaslamp, the USS Midway and harbor, it was perfect. And when we got tired, we used Fred (the downtown electric car service). Yes there is construction next door but we requested a high floor (got 14) and the noise did not bother us, it did start until after 7:00am and most days we were already up. I definitely recommend the BWPB.

At a recent stay, we had a wonderful room on the top floor, king bed, view of the water, couldn't be better. This is a great location for walking around Little Italy and down to the amenities on Harbor Blvd. Since we have stayed here previously, we did notice that there is no restaurant adjacent to the hotel like on the previous visit. However, that was okay since we were only here for one night and were more interested in the location. Highly recommend this Best Western.

We had the best view of the waterfront from our room! The entire staff was the best! Very friendly and accommodating. If your looking for a place to stay, this is the place! Very close to the waterfront and to public transportation. We will be back!

Perfect location , cheap parking fee with normal service. Unlike other best Western hotel, breakfast is not buffet, it's quite not enough. Sticky hair dryer stuck hairs and tissues is so disgusting. Not unique hotel, probably consider stay at other hotel next time to SD.

Upon arriving, we were warmly greeted and though we were early, there was no issue with allowing us to check in. We were given a bag with some water and chocolates, because of our membership status and it was greatly appreciated. The Best Western Bayside Inn was a absolute gem. Our room was on the 12th floor and offered a spectacular view of the bay. We've paid far more for much less enjoyable views. We were not interested in the grab and go breakfast. We missed the typical breakfast offerings in other BW's where we've stayed, but that would definitely not hinder us from returning. The hotel is 3 or 4 blocks from the harbor and 2 blocks from Little Italy. Unfortunately we were only there for 2 nights, which were pre-planned, but we will return again with a more flexible schedule and explore the area a little more. Definitely would recommend and definitely will return.

This is our go-to place to stay if we're in San Diego to see the Padres. Close to Little Italy and great food, Seaport Village, and only a mile walk to the ballpark. Staff is always super friendly. Parking cost is reasonable. Every room has a balcony, which is a plus. Only downside is no breakfast buffet like other Best Westerns in the city.

I had a terrible experience. The room was over 85 degrees and I was questioned by staff that I must be wrong. Then for three days in a row my key did not work. Additionally, they forgot to clean my room on day 3 and I had no acknowledgement why this happened. I finally shared all concerns to staff who assured me that management would be told and they would speak to me about it. This never happened it and the first Best Western that did not even ask me how my stay was when I checked out in person. Due to COVID, they only allow one person in the fitness room, give you a terrible bag of breakfast. When I voiced my concerns of this they told me there were tons of restaurants I can spend money on. That is not helpful. I filled out survey and finally the general manager just told me sorry I was not happy. They were very defensive and just told me to come back. Spending over $250 a night for a hotel you should get better services, a very bland room, a pool that has signs that say stay only one hour. No signs that young children should not be in the hot tub. My one day in the hot tub was with two 8 year old girls by themselves and then with a three old with dad. The dad's comment to me was sorry he is going to splash a lot in the hot tub. When I expressed these concerns with the general manager they can not police the pool or hot tub. So why have signs that insist you can only stay in the pool for an hour. The location is great, but I have never had a hotel with the manager not even saying sorry for so many problems and never reaching out to me until I had to formally complain. There are many other hotels in this great location of Little Italy. I stayed at Best Western at Seven Seas in Feb. and that hotel is cheaper and is much better managed with nicer landscape. I would spend the money and take a Uber to downtown and stay there instead. Very disappointing that management did not care about my experience and I have no idea what else I could have done to let the staff know that I had a disappointing experience. Only comment- I do not know why the keys were such an issue we will do better next time for you. Customer service was so much nicer to me than the general Manager Tracie Widkens. Spend your money at a hotel that has staff who wants to help you with a problem.

We enjoyed our stay here. Hotel was in a good location, rooms were spacious and clean and grab and go breakfast was very handy. One of the more reasonable hotels in the area so was good value for money compared to others.

My family & I stayed at at the Best Western Plus Bayside Inn (San Diego, CA) for a handful of nights on our trip to sight-see and visit in and around San Diego. It is centrally-located, within walking distance of Little Italy (one block) and several blocks from the bay port. The staff were friendly and able to assist in numerous ways (answering questions, providing guidance and clarification). We would stay there in the future again!

Conveniently located a few blocks from the waterfront walk and the beginnings of Little Italy, filled with restaurants,,stores and farmers markets Only negative is they offer a sack breakfast of packaged foods, fortunately there is a coffee shop across the street.

Annually, the month of February, we escaped the Minnesota tundra to stay at the Bayside Inn Western Plus in San Diego. 5-Star Hotel best value in San Diego area. The accommodations are the best and the friendly staff is focused on delivering outstanding service. Very easy walking access to the activities and places we love to go. Mass transit is nearby. We enjoy the swimming pool and the hot tub after a busy day of outings.

Great location for walking to a variety of restaurants, pharmacies, attractions and the bay. Fairly good value for this type of hotel and what they offer. Rooms: very spacious, outdated decor and furniture very well loved. But all was clean. Bathroom had ample counter space and racks to hang towels and place toiletries within the tub/shower. On 8th floor, hot water takes time to heat up but once it does, watch out! It gets hot. Had a microwave and bigger fridge. K-cup coffee maker and plenty of coffee/tea/cream and sugar. All very clean and fridge gets nice and cold. Plenty of storage for luggage and clothing. Beds seemed very firm at first but I slept great! Lots of pillows and blankets available. The only thing the room really lacks are electrical outlets. Had 2 in the main bedroom area (one on the lamp next to the bed) and one on another wall in far corner for the table. The current breakfast is a sack breakfast for grab and go; 4 different options available from a Jimmy Dean sausage sandwich, orange juice, water, fruit and granola bar; oatmeal, fruit, pastry water; breakfast burrito, fruit, OJ, water and granola bar. But it is only 1 per person in the room. The pool and hot tub were a nice treat. They are located outside and pool is somewhat heated. Hot tub was super nice. Clean and welcoming places to sit. Towels are available too. My only not so great thing was construction going on right outside our room. And they start early and are loud and rambunctious. I knew of this fact before coming but decided to roll the dice. The website did let guests know ahead of time which is nice and not always a given. Staff in the lobby are friendly, professional and helpful. Always greeting us with a hello and a smile. Brought us up paper plates to heat our dinner on; even called to let us know when they were on their way. Would recommend and stay again.

The Best Western Plus Bayside Inn is an excellent value if you are looking for an urban hotel within easy walking distance to the bay, Embarcadero, transit station, and neighborhoods like Little Italy. We stayed here for 4 nights in December and everything far exceeded our expectations. The view of the bay from our 14th floor balcony was beautiful, and the street noise (which should be expected from the location) was not bad and did not interfere with sleep. Comfortable bed, very clean and spacious room, and could not have picked a better location for the access we wanted on this trip. A couple notes to consider - this hotel does not have an airport shuttle, but it was only a $12 Uber ride to the airport, and we had no issue getting a ride at 6:00am on a weekday. The staff also offered to call a taxi as an option as well. We did not have breakfast but they provide multiple grab and go breakfast options to choose from. The hotel is directly across the street from a Starbucks, and with the room's microwave and fridge, it is easy to keep and make food in the room. It was about a 15 minute walk to a Ralph's grocery store and only a few minutes to walk to many Little Italy markets on nearby India street. If you are here on a Saturday morning it is an easy walk to the farmer's market in Little Italy. We also walked to the USS Midway and Seaport Village from here. We already have another trip booked here in a few months because it really does stand out to me as an exceptional value compared to similar hotels in the city. Every staff member we talked to was professional, helpful, and consistently provided excellent customer service.

We were going on a cruise so we stayed here based on location. It was about a half-mile walk to the cruise terminal, and downhill to there, so we just rolled our suitcases down a slight hill - really easy to do. The local transit station is about a three minute walk from the motel, so really convenient. The staff at the motel was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The facility is a bit older but is in pretty good shape. Breakfast in a bag was Ok but nothing special. Overall we liked this motel and would definitely stay again.

Great hotel. Great views on Bayside. Fabulous location . Pool is a bit cool. Too noisy to sleep with window open. Breaky is grab and go and just ok. Watch out for taxi overcharging to airport. Should be around $20. There is no shuttle.

The staff was helpful and friendly sky. Our rooms were great for a family of four. I would recommend more hooks for towels and clothes to hang. This hotel was conveniently located for our Disney Cruise. We were able to drop people and luggage off at the port terminal and park our vehicles and walk back to the ship less than a mile.

This hotel is located next to little Italy. Absolutely the best location- very easy walk to some great Italian restaurants plus so close to to ocean and the many amenities down there. The room was spacious, clean and had a wonderful view of the ocean and city lights. Staff helpful and amicable. Will definitely be back!

We enjoyed our stay. Check in and out was super quick and easy, room was nice, pool was nice. Would have liked it a little better if the ice machines were a little easier to access (they're only on 3 floors). There is construction around but it wasn't loud. Would definitely stay again.

Breakfast included was very poor just a snack really, how long will they be using Covid as an excuse, All the restaurants across the road in Little Italy are open, It's a cheap way of working. On =arrival at 1.30 was told room service every there days. NO NONE IN 10 DAYS emptied my own waste bin. Towels replaced when requested. Apart from that, good room, ideal location for public transport, In fact, ideal for everything. The staff were excellent all the time, nothing was too much trouble

The location is great. Close enough to walk to various restaurants and bars. Which it had a continental breakfast and not a Bag to Go. It was still good enough until you had real breakfast. Parking was great an not pricy. The only issue was the construction next door.

This hotel is in a great location near to the harbour & Little Italy. The rooms are spacious & clean, and there is a fridge & a microwave. “Breakfast included” is a claim that you should be wary of. The offer is a rather poor “grab & go” bag which you collect from reception & microwave in your room. Rooms are cleaned every 3 days. Unfortunately the lot next door is a building site, which is very noisy & dirty & looks like it has a long time to go.

A nice option in San Diego is close to the bay and close to Little Italy to have dinner (You must try Sambugers). There is a nice pool. The rooms are great, with a balcony and if you are lucky, you'll have some views of the bay. The main issue is the “breakfast”. I'll skip commenting, you can read some other reviews. I didn't have a problem because they inform you before the reservation. There is a Starbucks in front of it. The check-in was not informative or clear at all. They pretend to charge an amount without any explanation (room + parking and incidentals) We have some problems with the room and the night manager didn't hesitate to arrange a change (I don't remember the name, but she understood the problem and work to find a solution). Thanks to her we had a great experience in San Diego, and we are writing a 5-star review

Key points Great location Breakfast grab and go bags are not suitable for kids. The choices were microwave sandwich, microwave burritos and oatmeal muffins. Friendly staff The family rooms are located on the construction side of the hotel. We were on the construction side, could not sleep in for two reasons, poorly insulated windows and the construction started around 6 am. The rooms on the other side of the hotel were too small to accommodate family of five. One of the rooms smelt like a hospital ward, not a great first impression and the most welcoming smell. Cheers

Good central location close to harbour and central areas of Little Italy and Gaslamp. Rooms good with fridge, microwave and coffee maker woth pods. Aircon quiet enough to run overnight. However a few things let it down, eg rooms only cleaned/made up every 3 days so you have to ask for fresh towels and empty your own bins, also due to covid the free breakfast is a choice of disappointing Grab & Go bags, eg a savoury croissant to microwave or nutty porridge or pastry and apples weren't nice, also check-in was very slow. The biggest let down was no WiFi. Apparently an engineer was coming the second day but it didn't get resolved during our 2 night stay. These let downs made it a 3 average instead of 4 very good.

This hotel is nothing special but it does it's job.It's a decent value, a good location, clean, has an (aged) pool and gym, and will satisfy your San Diego place to sleep/shower needs. The hotel is a bit dated, but for that price point it is expected. They started doing a grab and go breakfast when covid started, but we are far past time where that is considered reasonable. Bring back the cheap eggs, sausage, etc. that you usually serve at your hotels. A frozen Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich, shelf stable crappy orange juice, and the sugar packed granola bars that crumble everywhere aren't real food. If they bring back normal breakfast I'll change it to 4 stars. Excellent service from the desk staff though, they were very kind.

Stayed here for four nights in August in a bay view room that I would recommend to any future guests. Staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are large and not corporate style which gives the hotel its individuality but do include fridge and microwave. Location is superb for eating out in Little Italy and exploring the city. Would happily return.

Stayed for two nights to visit friends. Ate at Filluppus in Little Italy and not disappointed. Hotel is worn. Front staff great. Breakfast is insult to call breakfast. Horrible. No elevators in parking garage. If mobilevusdues don't stay here.

For the class of hotel this is, we had a very good experience. The room was clean and quite large. My family of four was very comfortable here. We had a balcony with doors that opened up. There's a lot of construction in the neighborhood so the view wasn't great but it was still nice to get fresh air into the room. The hotel is close to Little Italy and good restaurants. It has a pool and hot tub. And the staff was excellent, responding to service requests promptly and helpfully. For Comic Con, they gave us a complimentary grab and go breakfast each day. We would definitely stay here again.

This is the fourth time we've stayed at this hotel and we wouldn't stay anywhere else when visiting San Diego from London. Although it's an older hotel by SD standards the cleanliness, friendly staff and location are second to none. We always opt for a bay view and sitting on the balcony first thing in the morning or after a long day is just dreamy. The ‘grab and go' breakfasts work really well and I hope they stay even post Covid as they are pretty convenient! The swimming pool and hot tub being open until 11pm is an added bonus especially as we now have grown up kids so to enjoy some additional family time chilling around the pool in the evenings worked really well for us. The location of this hotel is perfect for eating out in Little Italy which we prefer rather than downtown. There is also a new Starbucks opposite which is perfect for a quick coffee hit before starting the day! We could walk pretty much everywhere in San Diego, especially to Petco Park to watch the Padres, which we did a lot! The parking is an added bonus and there are always available spaces, it does add a bit to the overall cost of your holiday but it is in and out so you can come and go as you please. This is a fabulous hotel and I hope it never changes! We will definitely be back.

Hotel is in perfect location for waterfront, Little Italy, farmers market. Bust stop few minutes away. Beds are great. Asked for a bay view and got it. No sun at pool until about 11 due to high rise buildings. Staff super helpful.

The location is the best part, one block away from Little Italy, 2 blocks away from the Trolley, 3 blocks from the bay. You could even walk to Gaslamp but it's a bit farther away. I walked to all these places including the USS Midway Museum. The hotel itself is fine, nothing fancy but it's modern, clean and it's functional. Everything worked properly except for the TV audio, had to move the cables a bit to get it working. The staff was polite and helpful. Going in and out is very convenient, door is always open and when it's not you can use your room card to open the hotel main door. Everyday they gave breakfast in paper bags, you can choose from 3 options, yogurth, burrito or sandwich, they come with water and some other stuff, very simple but still useful to save on a breakfast. I would most definitely recommend staying here.

Staff exceptional! Friendly & helpful. Love the "to-go" breakfast/snack bags since they are available anytime. For those who are not "morning people" you won't miss breakfast hours. Pool and hot tub open & good temp. Workout room was good, but would be better with free weights.

Hotel was clean and modern. View from our room was great. The hotel offered a free take away breakfast each morning. It's easy walking to both the train to LA and the trolley to SDSU. Starbucks was across the road for coffees and snacks and there was bars in neighbouring side streets. It was a bit of a walk to the Gaslamp district where the activity was. Would definitely stay there again.

It was our first time in SD, Best Western was a great location. Walking distance to Little Italy, where you'll find wonderful restaurants. Trolley was 2 blocks away. We had a room on the 14th floor, great view of the bay. Staff was great, Luz, Slyvia and Tracy were very helpful. It's a moderate priced hotel, we were very pleased.

I loved our stay, everything was walking distance, which was a plus because we took the train into town. neighborhood was extremely lively and safe. Rooms were good, toilets sucked (low-flow), and internet was spotty. We would definitely stay here again

Beds were amazing! Comfortable many good night sleeps. Breakfast bags were great for mornings! Right next to the harbor and little Italy so lots of amazing food options very close by! Music in little at night on the weekends. Hotel hot tub and pool were nicely heated. Check in and parking went smoothly. Everyone was very nice. Family room nice and spacious! Stayed here for SeaWorld and San Diego zoo and was less than 20 min drive for both! Would stay here again!!

If you simply want a nice clean hotel with good staff at a great location, then this hotel will be perfect for you. Little Italy starts across the street. 7 minutes to the water walking. They have onsite parking for a reasonable fee for SD.

Room comfortable for Wife and self. Should you be on lower level and face pool be prepared for noise from people if they are talking. Room doors transmit noise. Note other side facing street is under construction. They start early. Great location for dining options if you like Italian. Also some good choices for American food. Their breakfast is at best poor.

Our family just got back from a lovely stay in San Diego. This hotel was a great find! Near the trolley so easy to travel around without a car, right across from Little Italy and all the tasty restaurants, and our room was a great size for our family of 5. The only bad thing is there is construction next door but that will go away eventually. It wouldn't deter me from staying there again. They offer bagged free breakfast so that helped out with costs of traveling with kids. We had a great trip!

I arrived early, so my room wasn't ready, but the front desk took care of my luggage. They called when room was available. Always smiling and helpful. Great location. Walking distance to Little Italy and the port. Clean rooms....OK bathroom.

This hotel staff goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. Great location. Great rooms and very quiet. Within walking distance to various sites. We chose this place for our military reunion and was not disappointed.

Going to San Diego has always been a dream of mine. My husband and I drove to the city from Anaheim. The hotel was very easy to find, though navigating the hilly one-way streets is tricky for a first-timer. There were some areas blocked off by construction, and we were warned by Front Desk that it might be noisy in the morning, but we didn't hear anything and slept well. There's a daily fee for parking your car in the carpark. Checking in, we experienced no problems whatsoever. We were given a spectacular room with a large, soft bed and a microwave/fridge, complete with an amazing view overlooking the bay. The hotel has a convenient location that puts almost every attraction in San Diego within 20 minutes from you -- we got to visit San Diego Zoo, Seaworld, San Diego Safari Park (this one was an exception, 40 minutes away in Escondido) Gaslamp Quarter and Old Town, all within 3 days. There's even a Starbucks right across you, and 7/11 five minutes away. Breakfast bags were provided daily and we were allowed to get plastic utensils for free so we could eat our takeout in our hotel room. Front desk staff Grace and Mylene were very kind and professional! I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely love to come back!

Location is great. Walking ( a bit ) distance to Gaslamp but right at the end of Little Italy. Plenty of bars, restaurants, coffee outside your door. Tired hotel. Small lobby that isn't very inviting. Bar/restaurant is closed. Pool is small and gets no sun all day. Rooms are dated but nice to have a deck to take in the cityscape. if you are staying on the east side of the hotel a word of caution. They just started construction right across the street and they start work very early. We were woken up at 7am each morning to trucks and equipment and from the looks of it, it will be going on for awhile. If you can, ask to stay on west side of hotel plus it looks out towards the water. It is a decent cheap option in a good neighborhood. Just don't expect much.

This is a good place to stay in San Diego and was centrally located in the city, We had easy access to the Hotel and with handicap parking it was very convenient. I would recommend it to anyone coming to San Diego.

My headline tells it all. This was my second (and third) visit and it is beginning to feel like it could become our "home" for our SD visits. After a trip from the East Coast, you want a place to quickly relax and BWPlusBayside Inn more than meets the need -- with a spectacular view from the Bay View rooms.

This hotel was the best I have ever been to. Rooms were clean and great area most restaurants were walking distance. And the staff was really friendly and always there to help and get you what you need.

BW Bayside, 555 W. Ash St., is comfortable, reasonably priced, and close to everything. The staff was friendly and helpful, and our room was ready early. We had a very early flight from SD, and a convenient and quick ride to the airport about three miles away could not have been easier. Even though we would have missed breakfast, we were given breakfast bags the night before so we did not have to leave hungry! You will enjoy this location in Little Italy...the restaurant options are tremendous.

The hotel is very clean and modern, in a very convenient location, to walk to the maritime museum, little Italy etc. The beds were comfortable but not the best quality, sheets very thin and falling apart. Bathroom was clean and big with a great shower. Plenty of towels. Breakfast was pretty good even when it is grab and go. Staff was cold and never made us feel welcome

I have stayed here a number of times. Each visit starts with a warm welcome at the front desk. The rooms are nicely decorated with views of either city of city and bay. Wow! This time we were upgraded to one with a view of the bay, and it was sensational. Yes, I'll definitely be back again. Oh, and did I mention that it's right next to Little Italy and some great places to eat.

We loved this nice cozy spot on Ash Street. It was in walking distance to many tourist places and good food. The guest service representatives were awesome. They were very pleasant and attentive. They were very helpful with recommendations for sights to visit and they were very accommodating to all of our needs. There are many hotels around this area. If I ever come back, I would definitely choose this nice cozy place again. Its the perfect spot.

I have stayed a few times @ this property. Friendly Staff & VERY CLEAN rooms! Breakfast is a “Grab & Go” but the selection is wonderful. This Hotel is in the heart of San Diego. Short distance to Sea World & the World Famous San Diego Zoo. Great prices!

My Family and I enjoyed our stay at the best Western Bayside Inn, the rooms are very clean the interior especially the lobby is very impressive! The whole staff at the front desk are very friendly including the Manager Tracy and Daniel in Maintenance. These staff will make you feel at home they are the best!!!

If you are looking for a convenient location on the edge of Little Italy, walking distance to the waterfront, chose the Bayside! Great service, nice rooms with distant water views. Might want to consider eating out for breakfast since the bagged, microwaved breakfast option is a challenge.

I am a diamond member and I cannot be more taken care when I come in I feel like a king of course at there more upscale locations I don't expect much from there lowers . This location was amazing was upgraded to 14 floor ( because it was available so don't attack the employees an become irate if they don't do it for everyone all the time ) I was grateful. Very friendly reception, we went there in late time but we got warm welcome immediately. they were giving us full information, help and all we needs at once. The room & public area are clean. It was a great experience to stay.

Conveniently walking distance between little italy, the bay & the gaslamp quarter. Parking is $20 a night. All the touristy spots like the zoo, old Town, balboa park & fashion mall within 10 minute drives. Great food options within walking distance. Grab bag breakfast was helpful & convenient. Some staff just need to be reminded to wear there masks, especially around young children & families who are actively wearing one. Water pressure in the mornings suck. But the Bay view room views are gorgeous! Microwave & refrigerator in the room. Moslty comfortable beds, but nice thick pillows. We would stay here again in the future!

Comfortable if a little dated. could use a spruce up. Location is excellent for cruise port and downtown San Diego. Good restaurants nearby with variety of meal options. met our needs for this visit. would recommend

Hotel is about 1.3 miles from Petco Park (beautiful stadium!); it's an easy walk day and/or evening; be sure to pick up a small city map from the Desk or Lobby. Our family stayed at a fancier hotel located a few blocks from Petco Park; from their hotel we did walking tours of the city; we didn't' use public transportation other than airport transport. We stayed 2 nights; our room was on the 3rd floor above Lobby overlooking small pool; it was clean and well taken care of. Hotel staff were friendly & helpful. Upon arrival (check-in time) I could connect my Smartphone to internet, but had issues connecting our laptop (android); I called Desk & was given an 800# to call for assistance; I called 800#, left voicemail and no response. Next morning I called Desk for assistance then went to Desk for hands-on assistance. Day Manager (very nice & patient) used “script” instructions failing several times; he and/or we “winged it”; around 20 minutes later were successful. Due to COVID breakfast & fresh coffee weren't offered only “To Go” bags were available; we declined bags, but did get 2 apples (mushy). I gave 4 stars with “Very Good” ratings for Value and Service due to internet & breakfast comments. Hotel is about 2 or 3 blocks/short walk to Little Italy; too bad we discovered it the morning of our departure; it has a lot to offer (food, beverages, entertainment, shops, etc.). Weather was great for day and evening baseball games, city walks, etc. We enjoyed our time in San Diego; too bad our team lost the game we attended. “Go Giants!”

I enjoyed staying at this hotel! Lobby was modern and clean, room was clean but somewhat outdated and free breakfast was great! I would be careful parking your car, my vehicle was broken into and I got some small things stolen. I wish they had a locked parking garage but otherwise, the stay for the price was great! Walking distance to the harbor and restaurants in Little Italy.

We really enjoyed staying here. It's a prime location for downtown. You need to use your room key to work the elevators, so that was a nice safety issue. Staff was all super nice. Pool and hot tube was comfortable. Parking is tight. If anyone was coming up or down while you are too.......don't know how that would work. Would absolutely stay again

We were very pleased with our stay. The furniture was a bit worn but the room was clean and very comfortable at a decent price. We booked a bay view room and had a wonderful view from the balcony. We also loved being within walking distance to the bay walk and ports. We would definitely stay here again.

Our second stay, and just as nice, though we can't wait for the pandemic to ease so the breakfast restaurant can return. So convenient to the harbor and Little Italy. Beautiful views worth a few dollars more. Nice and helpful staff.

The last time I stayed here was April of 1999, I loved it, and sitting out on the balcony was great, I had a unobstructed view of the bay back then( now a condo blocks a part of it) but it's still nice. I also love that it has a fridge and microwave. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. I CANT believe it took me so long to come back to San Diego, but I will be back on my next vacation.

We stayed at this property for two nights. It met and exceeded our expectations given its location, within walking distance to various restaurants; Starbucks/River Aid across the street; Little Italy; and in the heart of the Gaslamp District. As BW Platnum members, we stayed in room 1401 which offered a spectacular view of the bay. It was well worth the price. Wish we would've had more time to enjoy the amenities.

Great place to stay, the location is ideal since it's walking distance to everything that we like (Little Italy, Midway Museum & the Habor, Catholic Church ... downtown eateries.. ect). It's out first time staying in Downtown SanDiego even though we've been visiting SD probably over 20 times over the years. We generally get a suit with a couch and kitchen but this hotel has a family room with a Chaise, microwave and fridge and roomy enough for 3 of us.

We stayed here for 5 days on a combination business / family trip . This hotel exceeded all our expectations from excellent , friendly , helpful staff to extreme cleanliness it could not have been any better . Wished they could have the buffet breakfast but understood due to COVID they were unable to . They did provide 3 different bagged breakfast choices to accommodate people .I've stayed at numerous best westerns and thius one ranks near the top !

I could not have been more pleased with relocating from one BW in San Diego to the Bayside. The other, which will remain nameless, was priced just a bit lower. For just a few extra dollars I switched into a brighter, better located BW. Will make this my go-to hotel visiting SD in the future.

I highly recommend this hotel, it's clean, updated decor, has a gym and the staff is friendly. It's conveniently located in the downtown San Diego and close to the bay, Little Italy, and Petco Center. There are also quite a few eateries nearby and a Starbucks right across the street.

The hotel has a really good service with clean and comfortable rooms. The staff are very polite, friendly and accomodating. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel. Catherine and yolanda thank you very much!

Do not expect any frills. The lobby, pool and rooms are all small. Probably the smallest hotel room I have stayed in. The hallways were rather noisy. We could hear every door slam. If you plan to visit during the COVID-19 pandemic, do not expect housekeeping. Your room will not be cleaned during your stay and you will need to request fresh towels and sheets if necessary. The free hot breakfast is not available during the pandemic, so you can pick-up a bagged breakfast with a sandwich that you can microwave in the room. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I stayed here 3 nights July 9 thru 12'th! I was on the 7'th floor Bay view room. Keep in mind the noise from the pool below can be quite loud with kids screaming and carrying on but it is what it is! Bed was comfy! Microwave and fridge was handy! Breakfast was the grab and go which got the job done! I just took it back up to the room! Check in and out was fast and friendly! Location was awesome, only 3 blocks to the San Diego Bay waterfront area. I had dinner at Miguels at the Portside PIer! Best Calmex food around! There is a CVS and 7 Eleven closeby also where you can purchase beer and snacks! It was super easy to get Lyft here also! I would definitely stay here again! Thanks and keep up the good work! I

Great hotel, great location, but never stay poolside it way too noisy with very loud screaming kids for hours every night I stayed.. clean room, very comfortable beds but like I said the pool side is a joke!!!

Honestly, although the staff was amazing, but I will never stay at another BW again. The rooms were just not clean and sanitized properly. Not sure if housekeeping staff wear blindfolds when they clean, but anyone with proper vision can see their rooms are not clean, let alone "sanitized." For example, I stayed in room 611 - the shower curtains were extremely dirty, there was food in the corner on the floor and matted to the carpet, the drapes were dirty, the AC vent was falling off the wall, the shower vent was falling off the wall, AND there was a good amount of dried up blood underneath the bathroom sink...just to name a few. The blood really freaked me and my kids out and it made me wonder, if they missed something that big and that unsanitary, what else could they have possibly missed when cleaning the room?! The pool was decent, but the maintenance man told me that they only clean the hot tub and change the water once a week, if that. Yuck.

Our stay here helped make for a perfect weekend. Besides a location that can't be beat and amazing bay views from the balcony, it was a good, solid hotel. Comfortable, clean rooms with a very friendly staff. I would stay again without hesitation!

We booked this hotel because it was close to our son's apartment, whom we flew in to visit. We quickly realized it was directly across the street from his apartment, making is so easy for us come and go. But we were really happy to find that this hotel was in the heart of all we needed and wanted for our stay. A coffee shop across the street, drug store a couple blocks down, and the most amazing restaurants just steps away in Little Italy. And it had what really mattered to us, a clean, safe (loved all the security) and comfortable place to stay that won't break the bank.

As a senior contributor to Trip Advisor, I will start out by saying this is a perfectly acceptable place to stay for a few days in San Diego. It is conveniently located in a quieter part of downtown and has a fridge and microwave in the room. The rooms are roomy, big windows, nice balcony and plenty of light. Everything worked well for our stay. The sheets and carpets were clean and everything appeared to be sanitized. The hotel provides a grab n go breakfast with 3 options each morning. Their hot tub and pool and clean. The staff is super friendly and helpful (5+ stars for the staff!) A couple of suggestions to improve the hotel are as follows: 1. There is not enough wall outlets near the beds/night stand. 2. The lamps in the room go from bright to brighter---perhaps 1 of the lamps could have a lower wattage bulb or be on a dimmer. 3. This may be the only hotel that does not have a bathroom fan. A fan would greatly help several situations. Other than those 3 issues, everything was great about this hotel. If Best Western makes the above improvements I would be happy to stay there again and refer this hotel to my friends/family. Thanks for a great stay and again---props to the staff for being ON it!!!

this is a great location near the bay, little italy and downtown. there is a free shuttle provided by the city called Fred that is easy to use from here as well the staff were all helpful, especially Sylvia she is one of the afternoon clerks Rooms were clean breakfast was a bag of food, it was fine and if you are still hungry they gave me an extra some had fruit which was nice for later as a snack. bring some napkins as there were non with the breakfast, the rooms all had microwave ovens and mini refrigerators, so bring plates and forks makes it easier Pool was clean and mostly empty of people till the weekend. often there were cigarette butts by the loungers, but some people do not follow the non smoking policy even when they sign they will. not the hotels fault very nice place to stay try and book the pool view it is quieter and worth the extra couple of $$ the street noise is a lot otherwise.

The staff was very excellent, the accommodation was an exceptional and location was great. Especially the lady receptionist who took my reservation whom I don't remember her name and who went over, above and beyond to make my stay pleasant. The only thing needed was the gym facility needed to be tended. Otherwise, it's perfect!

I chose this hotel because it had a guaranteed balcony option. I reserved the 2 queen bed with bayside view, they did not disappoint (see pics)!! Despite me wishing they can replace the carpets, everything else was clean! They had a small fridge and a microwave which was a major plus for us since I have 2 little boys who needs to be fed hot food. The beds were so comfortable, they even accommodated right away my request for more pillows & towels!! Oh & $20 for an earlier check in time if there is a room available, lucky me there was!! They let me check in at 10am. The parking is not all that, it is $20 per night, they did have a garage but you have to walk from your car whichever floor you parked, down to the door connecting the lobby. After that it was all breeze, elevator to our room. They accepted a door dash delivery for me & held it until we got back to the hotel. The best experience I had was with their staff, we have forgotten my sons security pillow. We couldn't go back to the hotel because we were halfway back home to Las Vegas. The staff helped me so much that I was able to get my sons pillow back within 48hrs!! I am so thankful. This is definitely a must place to stay downtown SD. You won't regret it! We'll keep coming back

I planned on staying with friends, who had a family emergency, so I had to find a room after 3pm on my phone, this place was available in a great area in Downtown San Diego RIGHT BY the Gas Lamp Quarter, and it didn't spike up in price compared to when I Had checked out rates a few weeks leading up to the trip.

Great location the Best Western Bayside is walking distance to just about everything except short drives to the beach. Little Italy has the best food. Try R&G Salumaria Wine Bar and Little Italy food Hall Samburgers

Everything at this hotel is beyond expectations no complaints on anything I would highly recommend you stay here and you won't regret it.service and scenery is worth it and also get a nice view of downtown

This place is perfectly nice for the prices. It is a Best Western, not crazy fancy, but comfortable clean and great location. Walkable to Gaslamp or Little Italy. The Bayside view is really really nice for sunrise and sunsets!

I had a very important business meeting scheduled for today, I checked into Best Western Bayside the day before my meeting. Catherine at the front desk is amazing!! She went out of her way to make sure that I was taking care of so I could attend my meeting without a glitch. My stay was fantastic. Thanks Catherine!!!

Really enjoyed my stay. I stayed on the 12th floor so The view was wonderful. The staff was great & quick to meet our needs. The only downside was parking. U had to pay for it & if there wasn't any parking on the lower level you had to walk back down to the lobby where the elevators were or take the stairs. But there wasn't any elevators from the parking garage. Other than that it was great & the location was great.

I was so very pleased with this Best Western. Location was outstanding, just a few blocks from Little Italy and the harbor. Hotel parking was very convenient. At check-in the clerk was very friendly and accommodating, and all Covid protocols were being followed (I even noticed one employee spraying down lobby tables the next morning). The room was immaculately furnished, super clean, and had everything I needed (although I did have to search high and low for a UCB port - finally found one on the back of the TV). And the view from the balcony was breathtaking (see photo).

First time here - Grace greeted us with a very friendly and helpful welcome. The location in Little Italy is outstanding. It's close to the bay and the restaurants on India Street are some of the best. In fact we enjoyed the best Italian dinner we've had in a long time right across the street at Petrini‘s. The room was well appointed and the pool and spa look great even though access is limited during pandemic. The onsite parking is half the price of most places at $20 overnight. This is our new favorite place to stay in San Diego San Diego

Very nice hotel located in Little Italy. My wife and I had a great weekend getaway here and highly recommend the Best Western Bayside Inn. Gorgeous views of the water right from the balcony. The staff were all very friendly and the hotel was extremely clean. Definitely felt comfortable staying here especially considering all of the COVID measures they implemented.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay 9/7-9/20. What a beautiful view of the Bay and the Star of India from our own private balcony! Tracy and Sylvia were amazingly hospitable, too. Topped off with a visit to the zoo, it was a most enjoyable and relaxing visit. May thanks to the team!

Spent 3 nights at the Hotel and was very impressed with the Staff and how clean and sanitized the hotel was. Many of the things I liked about the Hotel were: 1. Room was large , clean, and on the 14th floor the view of the Bay was incredible 2. Great Location. 5 minute walk to Little Italy and 10 minutes to the Bay. 3. Parking was only $20 per day and since I was a rewards member paid 30% less. 4. Check in Staff and Staff in general were extremely friendly and helpful. 5. Grab and Go Breakfast was in a bag , but well stocked with goodies.

Hotel was very nice. Room was clean and quiet. Hotel is 5 minutes from the airport, but I never heard a single plane. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I had a city view, and would opt for a bay view for future visits. Hotel parking garage is $20 a might, and is well worth it. Much safer than parking on the street or trying to find a lot. I highly recommend this hotel.

We had a wonderful stay with some of the best front desk staff ever. The room needed new carpet but the rest of the hotel was impeccable. The breakfast food and staff left a lot to be desired but the rest of the hotel was great and the locations was the best.

Carpet filthy, most staff are not pleasant. Overcharge for what you get. Needs major upgrade and some staff need retraining towards customer relations. Don't expect sunshine at the pool as it is surrounded by buildings. Be aware you will need to pay for parking as most hotels in the area do.

We chose this hotel based on location and amenities, specifically the hotel shuttle. Upon arrival, the shuttle took 40 minutes to pick us up and repeated calls to the front desk gave us conflicting information. Upon checkout, we were told that the shuttle was unavailable due to "training" from 10am-12pm (right during checkout hours!). The front desk offered to reimburse my husband for a cab to the rental car center at the airport, and when he returned, they rudely refused to pay him the $12 cab fee because he took the "wrong cab". This was after confirming with the front desk that they had called a cab. Evidently, the one sitting in front of the hotel was not the one they called, but there was no way for him to know that and no one told him otherwise. Very poor service to lose a customer over a $12 cab fee.

The space was clean, well decorated and the bed was comfortable. The bay views was inching on the cake. Close to resturants, bars, and the water. In would definitely stay again. Parking was inexpensive compared to rates at other hotels in the area.

Stayed here for 4 nights last summer, and we were a little bit apprehensive about what the property would be like. HOWEVER, the hotel completely defied our expectations, and we had the most fantastic stay here! I was so pleasantly surprised by everything! The staff at check-in were great, the room was lovely (we had an amazing view from our balcony on the 7th floor!), everything was clean, the location was perfect - exactly what we wanted/needed. Breakfast was incredible - lots of selection and choice, and I looked forward to it every morning. Would definitely come back.

We stayed at this hotel at the recommendation of an acquaintance. For the price we paid, this was perfect. The location is excellent. The staff in the hotel and at the Bayside Restaurant were accommodating and friendly. The room was clean. Nothing fancy, but we weren't looking for fancy. Our requirements are cleanliness, friendliness of staff and location I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here overnight prior to cruise. Great location, safe, comfy, clean and quiet. Appreciated the airport shuttle and breakfast. Enjoyed using the new equipment in the exercise room. Friendly staff. We would have taken the courtesy shuttle to the port but lines were too long so we walked instead....completely doable and enjoyed the walk.

Had 4 days over President's Day holiday weekend. Arrived earlier than check-in on a Friday and the team - really - tried to find us an upgrade but the hotel was sold out. Sincerely appreciated the effort ... and in the end, while we had a low floor, the king room was very spacious and had a cute balcony where we sat out for awhile in the nice weather. The hotel is in a neighborhood so we really enjoyed our "home" for the long weekend. King bed was so comfortable and lots of pillows and nice bedding. Bath products were good. Having a mini-fridge and microwave was good and we definitely made coffee everyday. TV is not huge but flatscreen decent quality worked well. We really expected breakfast to be a coffee and a bagel but they had a hot breakfast everyday! The spinach egg whites were really good! And there was fresh fruit and about anything you could think of! Location is fabulous! Right near the train stops and walkable everywhere. We attended symphony twice while in town and was a nice 12 min walk. There is a Rite Aid on the corner that was super convenient to grab snacks/water. Internet was fast and reliable. So in the end, this hotel exceeded our expectations 10x over! Was a great hotel with great location. Staff was excellent. We come to San Diego often so this will be my new "go-to" hotel!

I recently stayed here while traveling for work. I had a conference at the Hilton by the convention center. The staff were very pleasant and helpful! The air in the room worked great! The bed was a little harder than I prefer but with all the pillows I slept comfortable. An Uber from here to the Hilton was less than $10 as well as to the Gaslamp Dist. You can walk to Little Italy and there is a great restaurant on the corner near the hotel called Petrini's that was great! The continental breakfast wasn't much but it's included in the price. I would definitely stay here again!

Love going here!! We always stay at the Bayside Inn close to Little Italy. Good location for getting around the city using public transportation. We have visited a number of places included Baseball games at Petco Park.

The staff are friendly. Clean rooms and good location in downtown San Diego, very accessible to public transportation. The breakfast is good with lots of choices. Nice amenities and great shuttle service.

This hotel is excellent. From pick up at airport to check in, it couldn't have been better. Our room is standard and clean. If we needed anything the staff will go beyond to help. The employees always have a smile on their face. Breakfast is very good. Plenty of food items to choose from and the hot items are (hot). We will be back

Great location and nice staff, but the property is tired and worn. We had to switch rooms after finding that the TV and HVAC were not working. The filter in the AC was so dirty and clogged that it gave the whole room a bad odor and would overheat the system. The next room's AC couldn't keep the temperature steady and it went from 65 to 80 all night which kept waking us up. I suspect that a major renovation/update is past due.

This is a moderate priced hotel that has one of the best locations in SD ie walking distance to both Gaslamp and Little Italy. The room was clean and well maintained. The bed is a little hard and could use a better pillow top mattress. The outdoor pool is a little cool as is the Breakfast room. The staff is outstanding and the breakfast is great. They provide a free shuttle from the airport and to the cruise terminal. We would stay here again.

We stayed here for 4 nights prior to our cruise. We chose not to use the hotel airport shuttle as the bus was at the stop when we left the terminal. It was so easy and only $2.50 each. The hotel is within walking distance of lots of restaurants in Little Italy. The trolley stop is less than 5 minutes walk. For an initial $2 for a refillable compass card and $6 for a day pass you can ride the buses and trolleys all day. The hotel is also walking distance from the cruise terminal or you can ride the hotel shuttle. Our room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed. Complimentary tea and coffee making facilities are provided and refilled daily. Our room also had a fridge and microwave. Breakfast is provided in the adjoining Bayside Grill. The breakfast consists of cereals, porridge, fresh fruit, yogurt, croissants, pastries, muffins scrambled eggs and 2 other hot options which changed daily between sausage, bacon, pancakes, churros etc. The breakfast is more than adequate to set you up for the day. The hotel's pool is in a quadrant open to the elements. I used it and found the pool to be on the cool side but bearable and the hot tub was hot. The pool is open from 7am-11pm and pool towels are by the pool. I would highly recommend this hotel and found it to be great value.

BW was in a very convenient place (2 blocks from ship terminal) convenient shuttle back & forth. We felt it was in a secure parking garage. The staff was so helpful and caring. Answered all our questions about the San Diego. Hotel was also so close loads of activities. Had a really fun time while there.

This hotel is well located in downtown San Diego near the airport, the cruise ship terminal and the restaurants in Little Italy. The free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel worked well. The free shuttle service from the hotel to the cruise ship terminal also worked well but you must pre-book a time when you check in. The room and amenities were modern. The free breakfast was adequate but in a separate building steps away from the hotel. Fortunately, with San Diego's mild weather this was not an issue, even in December.

We stayed here for 5 nights in late December and were very pleased. Had we known how close everything was, we could have easily skipped renting a car. The staff is very cordial, the rooms are spacious and clean and we had a beautiful view of the Bay from our window. A full breakfast is part of the room price. The only 2 neagatives : the water pressure isn't great and one of the 2 elevators was not operating as it is being overhauled. As we were on the top floor, there was frequently a long wait, especially in the morning.

The Best Western Bayside Inn was a great find. It is in the heart of Little Italy and close to all restaurants and entertainment. We went to a concert and the venue was right next store. Very convenient. We had a small inconvenience at check in but the staff was able to accommodate and they were very helpful to make things right. I am always happy with Best Western and the service we got on this trip is evidence of why we choose Best Western.

Hope to stay there again ..put the Best western I once worked at to shame ! Wtg you guys in the breakfast bar were awesome & so accommodating . Hats off to the front desk lady.. so sweet and full of information!!

Clean, friendly staff. It was super easy staying here to get to public transportation as well as restaurants etc. We are really glad we stayed here. Has an airport shuttle and pretty decent free breakfast too.

Our experience was excellent. We stayed at Bayside as we prepared to board a cruise. The hotel picks you up at the airport and transports you to the ship terminal the next day; that is WONDERFUL service. Our travel agent recommended another hotel....I am SO glad we found this Best Western on our own instead. I will be recommending it to any and all friends who happen to be staying in San Diego. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

We stayed at The Bayside Inn when we had 4 nights in San Diego in August. We found this hotel on line and glad we booked it when we did, we got a really great rate. The hotel is situated close to loads of local amenities. A short walk from Little Italy, a short walk from the metro and public transport links. Our room was huge, and the beds were really comfortable, and we all slept really well. Loved the bathroom, it was spotless and the shower was great. The views from the room over San Diego were great and we loved the hotel. Certainly one we would use again

Large rooms. The room was not spotless clean and the facilities are somewhat worn out. Hotel location is a bit remote from the city center, but close to public transport and Little Italy. Breakfast was adequate. The front-desk service was less-then-welcoming.

BW are generally fairly plain, but nice, this one was very clean looking and more modern than some. It was perfectly positioned to walk to dinner in Little Italy. Excellent restaurants. We walked to visit the USS Midway and take the trolley tour. Easy walk to downtown. Perfect location for what we wanted to do.

It's best Western, always my first choice! The rooms & staff were nice. The location was awesome and within walking distance of tons of attractions/activities/restaurants. Less than 2 miles from airport with shuttle service to boot, what else can you ask for. How about breakfast? Well, that's included as well, along with internet! Only bad thing I can say is they do not have coffee in the lobby, you have to go outside and down the street to their breakfast area for a cup of coffee. That's when you run out in the room of course, but when working on laptop in lobby while family sleeps it is a bit of a pain.

The hotel room and services were worth the price. The courtesy airport airport shuttle provided was also very appropriated for a first time traveller like me to San Diego. The proximity of the hotel to the airport was also an excellent choice for me

This was the first time we stayed at this hotel as we attending an afternoon Food and Wine event in San Diego. Hotel was extreme nice, clean and walkable to our event. And excellent pricing for the hotel and parking. Will stay here again!

We were in town to see our Navy son stationed at Coronado Island. From glamorized wide-angled professional shots (listed 'from business') on this website, we had a lot higher expectations than what we arrived to find. Junky hotel in narrow space -- not a relaxing hotel or adequate hotel in anyway -(Hotel Circle at any of these numerous hotels would have been better, you're not more than minutes away from 'most' attractions (as well) or for a nicer atmosphere - some even at similar prices, stay in Coronado Island - San Diego). Parking in garage (which is $20 a night); My wife and I went to and from our vehicle into the hotel multiple times evening and into the night, never once seeing anything that so much as resembled security; plenty of parking bc this is a tour group hotel that is in and out; people aren't parking much in garage that is at cost bc of that; in fact, each night we parked in the exact same parking spot complete with dirty athletic folded socks strewn atop of a cement ledge in front of our vehicle (pretty much sums up our visit..) Pay attention to that of what is said in some of the negative reviews; we glossed over these prior to booking - more important of the reviews; This is a slump shot stay-over for large tour companies that arrive in very large tour buses - to where the majority of this hotel's business comes from. Tour operators deal with the logistics so the people arriving aren't subjected or having to deal directly with staff and they are on multi-day tour packages with multiple places to stay so of course reviews coming through by them are going to be on the better side; BW PLUS Bayside Inn is a mere stepping ground onto something better. If you're not part of one of the tour groups, steer far and clear of this hotel.

This hotel is clean, and in a good location. We ordered two cribs over a month in advance, and called to check on it. When we got there, there was only one pack n play. They ran out of cribs due to too many Disney cruise families. Someone from the staff called our phone past 10pm, then barged into our room. Woke up two sleeping babies who then cried for the next half hour.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. We were in 1007 for 5 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are a nice size, the beds are comfortable, and there is a fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the room. Our room faced the Bay and we could see the Star of India with Coronado in the distance. We loved the view from the balcony and the large sliding doors. Breakfast is included and it's very good with lots of options, fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, bacon, waffles, good croissants etc. It's nice that they use real dishes, not all the paper plates and plastic cutlery that you throw away. The staff in the restaurant are very welcoming and say bye, have a nice day when you leave. We used the shuttle bus to and from the airport and the shuttle drivers were very chatty pointing out the good restaurants along the way. The hotel is located right on the edge of Little Italy so there is an abundance of really good food close by. We were able to walk everywhere to the things we wanted to see, Maritime Museum, USS Midway, Gaslight quarter, ferry to Coronado Island. We did take the bus to Balboa Park which you can catch at couple,of,blocks away. We didn't use the pool, but we could see it from our room and it looked nice. We will definitely stay here on our return visits to San Diego as this hotel is really good value. P.S. if you have status at another hotel chain, Best Western will match it, which is very nice.

I had booked a room with points and had to add extra night, front desk was so great with my request and gave me the room with same view that I had the first time I stayed. This is my new go to hotel in San Diego and we had SO many restaurants to pick from in a block or two. I used the hotel pool and hot tub. Everything was very clean and plenty of towels. I hate when i have to call for them to bring them to pool area.

I will give a fair review.. Some things were good. Some were bad.. Somethings were just weird. You can make your own judgments.. The good... I arrived at 1330 hrs. I was given an early check In.. Really good. My room was 606.. It was clean and efficient. Had a city view.. Good... You need a key to access the elevator to get to the floors..Good Parking was $20 a night. Which is cheap for downtown, but I dont think as a guest and a rewards member, you should have to pay to park at all.. But thats beside the point... Close to the pier.. You could literally walk the 6 blocks. But why, when they provide a shuttle. The Bad.. I did not realize this hotel on the weekends is used by local teens for one nighters to crash after bdays, parties, etc.. I wouldnt mind if they kept to themselves. But no, they are screaming, running and slamming doors. When i called the front desk to complain. I was told by the woman at the desk "Not to worry, they are going out to the bars". I replied, "If they are like this now, I cant imagine at 5 am, how bad its gonna be".. Sure enough, they were banging on doors yelling for each other.. I guess Rebecca is a popular girl..Singing through out the hall.. Maybe i could over look that ,but when i saw my bill for those nights, I was charged $197 per night.. Really?? That much to put up with a frat house environment? The Wi-fi is terrible.. If you purchase a breakfast option, The food is plentiful but not very good.. Oatmeal is packets, you make yourself. If you want condiments, such as ketchup, salt and pepper? Well, those are individual packets that you would get from a drive thru, fast food, place. How does one mess up pancakes so bad it tastes like nothing ? Its a little odd that they try and deceive you to think its different food. But its not. They just rearrange the placement of everything daily. The Weird. No bellmen/person The restaurant isnt located inside the hotel.. You have to exit the bldg and go past the garage, into another set of doors.. Its not conducive that early in the am... If i wanted to go out for breakfast, I might as well walk to Little italy. The pool.. Its a plunge pool. The location is very odd.. Its located right behind the front desk that is separated by windows.. Which is good, should you need assistance but otherwise anyone at the front desk, will be watching you.. Its like you are entertainment for the guests checking in.. Think the mermaids at Weeki watchee.. Overall, for just myself it was ok...Would I bring my family or friends ? No.. If its a weekend, find out what floor they are putting the local kids on and refuse that floor. PS.. The parking spots arent very big. So bringing a big SUV or truck isnt the best idea.. The ramps are very small so beware.

Clean, priced right, great location, easy parking, awesome staff, and comfortable rooms. The moment you walk in the service is great. The hotel is a short walk from the bay and all the ideal restaurants and events.

I checked in early at this downtown hotel near the harbor. The desk person was very polite and helpful. The room was clean and neat. The view towards the Harbor was excellent. I had an early morning flight so I did not get a chance to visit the breakfast or use any of the facilities.

We booked the Best Western Bayside Inn because of its close proximity for walking to the tourist spots, especially Little Italy which is just 5 minutes away. . The staff was at all times polite, helpful, cheerful and professional. A free shuttle bus picked us up and took us to and from the airport. The free breakfasts were great! They included real not instant scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, real fried eggs and ham, bacon or sausage, plus a good assortment of breads and spreads. The kitchen staff was friendly and attentive to making sure all patrons were taken care of. We have always booked hotels with the free breakfast because that suits our travel habits and found the Best Western Bayside Inn provides one of the best breakfasts ever!

We choose this hotel for two reasons 1. location close to the cruise terminal and 2. complimentary shuttle service to the airport. We stayed here at the end of our cruise from Vancouver B.C. and required an early check-in. I spoke to Sylvia C. the Director of Sales before booking the hotel, explaining our situation, and asking if it was possible to get us check-in early. She assured me she could do that and would alert the front desk to give us one of the first rooms cleaned that morning. When we arrived at the hotel our room was ready and I want to thank Sylvia profusely for following up on her promise to get us in early. The hotel itself is not fancy, but it was quite clean and comfortable. The morning breakfast is served just down the street, which is unusual, but it works just fine. I do wish they had a full service restaurant on site for dinner. A great location conveniently located to the cruise terminal, the airport, Waterfront Park, Maritime Museum, USS Midway Museum, Hop-On-Hop-Off Trolley stop on Cedar Street. GREAT LOCATION.

In the world of real estate, it's all about location. Location certainly applies to the Best Western Plus Bayside Inn in San Diego. My wife and I stayed at this hotel after debarking at the San Diego cruise port. To our pleasant surprise, the hotel is within walking distance of the cruise port. A taxi ride can be obtained for about $5.00. The hotel is also close the the Amtrak station, the airport, and "Little Italy." It should also be mentioned that the hotel provides free shuttle service to the airport, cruise port, and the Amtrak station. While the hotel is a little dated, we found our room to be of good size, and we were impressed by the general cleanliness of the room, and especially the bathroom. The little balcony is a nice little perk for enjoying the weather of Southern California. We also appreciated the wonderful, pleasant service provided by the front desk staff. They were very accommodating to us. We did have one concern, however. Hot water was not readily available. It took 20 minutes of running the tap water to get to the desired temperature for showering and bathing. Despite this problem, we have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to prospective travelers.

Near the water in downtown San Diego, this is a reasonably priced option and above average location. Good staff, very clean and comfortable. Lots of plug-ins but no USB ports in the room. Excellent breakfast included. Located near restaurants, drug store and other options good for travelers. Would stay here again.

If your looking for a place to stay pre cruise look no further. Three blocks inland from cruise terminal with free shuttle to not only the port but to and from the airport as well. Great price and great location.

Loved the location of this hotel, across the road from Little Italy and just block or two from Santa Fe train station and sea front. Hotel provide free shuttle from the airport the lady at airport information called for me as I couldn't get number to work on my mobile. Stayed in a King Room with Ocean View which was worth paying the extra for, loved looking out over the Star of India especially at sunset. Breakfast was served in Bayside grill on the corner of street, always plenty of options and replenished often, staff at breakfast great. Pool area looked good, didn't get chance to use it as so much to see and do in San Diego. Hotel stored luggage on last day until we needed to return to airport, the shuttle going back is on the hour. If your not using the car to get around recomend getting a compass pass from the machine and station cost 2 dollars for the card and 6 dollars per day for unlimited down town use on tram and buses, we used tram to old town and bus to zoo very quick and easy.

Great location--steps away from The Italian Village with all its fabulous restaurants. Gracious staff, helpful. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable and nicelel appointed. They have a typical hotel buffet breakfast that is good and a free shuttle to the airport. Would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Nice pool and hot tub, breakfast included. Quiet, amazing view, perfect location, staff were great. The shuttle driver was finish is shift and they still paid for a taxi for me to get to the airport..

We stayed here for 5 nights as a couple and the hotel is in a brilliant spot, and is really clean and comfortable. It is very close to Little Italy and to Santa Fe Rail station. The hotel seems popular with cruise ship passengers and breakfast was extremely busy on the two days when cruise ships were in port but the breakfast staff dealt with this extremely efficiently. Only negative was the woman on reception who checked us out. She could definitely have benefited from a term or two at charm school. She was very abrupt and not at all friendly. Thus would still, however, be our hotel of choice if we return to San Diego.

Room was very clean.. it was quiet inside the room other then the refridgerator was a little loud. Having to have a door key to access the elevator was very nice as well. The breakfast buffet had more things to eat then I could rotate through in my 5 day stay.

I had a beautiful room with a beautiful view. Elena at the front desk was amazing. Everything was clean. I felt safe and comfortable . Close to Harbor Blvd and Little Italy . I will be back and will bring my family .

The hotel's location is pretty good.Little Italy is like a block away & even the Gaslamp Dist is an easy 15 minute walk.The Embarcadero can be reached by foot in about 15 mins.(USS Midway Museum,Star of India maritime museum) The shuttle service is efficient & can get you to the airport in 10-15 mins.Breakfast is pretty typical but adequate & the crew's service is commendable.They always make sure the hot & cold selections are readily available.The rooms are clean but the elevators are a bit dated.The staff is very efficient, professional & easy to deal with.

Best Western was perfect for our 2 night stay. We arrived quite late but called and the free shuttle to and from the airport arrived quickly. Check in was quick and easy. We only tried the breakfast once as we were up late. Breakfast was good value with hot and cold items plus tea and coffee. Hotel room was a little dated but suited our needs. A quick walk to little Italy and also the Harbour. The little balcony was a added bonus it just need chairs and a table. The staff were all friendly and they held our bags on check out day and even let us use the free shuttle back to the airport.

Close to everything in the city of San Diego. Perfect for us as city walkers. With a wonderful view to the harbour. But has also parking at reasonable prices. Breakfast is ok for the price of level of this hotel.

Relaxing stay in a good location close to San diego Zoo, Sea World, restaurants and other tourist attractions, Nice farmers market on Saturday in Italian town. Clean rooms and a nice breakfast. i definetly would stay at this hotel again.

This little gem is located in Little Italy of San Diego. I am so grateful to TripAdvisor ratings, as this is how we chose this hotel. the room was spacious, outstandingly clean and offers a great full breakfast next door in the price of your stay. The Parking was very reasonable and the staff made us feel so at home from the moment we arrived. We got in by 10AM for a three day stay and the front desk associate said that if we could just go have a bite to eat and come back in a few hours, they would make sure to have our rooms ready, as they did! They were extremely helpful in recommending great restaurants. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Well done BEST WESTERN PLUS BAYSIDE INN!!!!

Chose this hotel mainly for its location, couple of blocks from Sante Fe station, easy walking distance to little Italy,Gaslamp area and 10 minutes to the sea. Rooms are fine,air con,free WFI,clean,and spacious, Loved that breakfast was included in the rate good choice hot and cold food. There is a courtesy bus to pick you up and take you to the airport should you need it again a very useful addition. Would definitely use this hotel again if in San Diego. Loved San Diego now one of my favourite cities in the USA!!

Great location if you like Little Italy and the restaurants. Also close to the water. The overall design looks nice but the carpet in the room was filthy, the refrigerator made a lot of noise at night and the furniture was beat up.

We stayed here for 5 nights - great location , close to little Italy and the bay. Warning they do have smoking rooms on level 4.... The rooms are clean and basic w fridge and microwave. However the beds are very uncomfortable- mattresses very lumpy and bouncy - we made a complaint and asked for a new mattress after night 1 (esp as we see some have been delivered) but this hasn't occurred which is a disappointment as the new mattresses lay in the car park and we are having terrible sleep! Free breakfast included which is good value and plenty of choice. I am coeliac and they made every effort to accommodate my needs by cooking mine out the back. Good hotel just need new mattresses!

As a family of four we loved it. Complimentary breakfast was a good variety of food and drink both hot and cold. Room was fine. Staff at reception were friendly and eager to help. great location to explore waterside and downtown.

Very nice room with an exceptional view of the shore line. The complementary breakfast was nice and convenient. I will definitely use this hotel again for business and even for a personal trip if I am ever in the area. I think this hotel offers a great value due to its location, amenities, nice rooms, and price point.

Very nice and clean; however. not much of a front to it. Lobby is not too inviting. Nice snack area. Parking is kind of weird. Close to water. Ate across street at Patrini's. Very good. Nice atmosphere and nice to be able to walk to it and not have to get car out of garage.

Stayed for 3 nights in August. The hotel is clean and tidy and in a very good location to explore the city. The staff were friendly and kept our bags for us after check out. The view from the room with a bayside view was great. Breakfast was served in the restaurant next door as a buffet and was a little basic but everything was kept topped up and hot. Overall a good spot for a short stay.

Happy with our stay, good shuttle service to and from airport, and railway station. Breakfast good choices, cooked and continental. Easy walk to Little Italy area and down to Waterfront but quite a long walk to Seaport Village but you have to do it to see all the things on the way. About $6 taxi to Gaslamp district

My husband and I hadn't gone on a couples trip for over 16 years. We decided to use our points and stay at this amazing San Diego hotel! Upon arrival I inquired if they had an ADA room available for us since I am in a wheelchair. The employee that checked us in did her very best to find us a room for both nights. This alleviated lots of stress for me to be able to have the room and amenities that the ADA room gives. The hotel is beautiful and the beds were extremely comfortable. We also used the hot tub and enjoyed being outside among the tall buildings, City Life, and beautiful weather. This hotel is conveniently located within blocks of Little Italy. This provided easy food options for us Without having to find a parking spot. It was a foodie's dream! Also within walking distance was the coast with lots of museums to enjoy and boats to watch and sunsets to cuddle up to. We would definitely go back and enjoy this hotel and all the wonderful things San Diego has to offer!

This is 2nd time we stayed here and will be back. Hotel is located close to waterfront, Little Italy, trolleys and buses. The personnel that work there are nice and helpful. Breakfast is good and rooms nice

The location of the Hotel put me close to Little Italy in San Diego, The Harbor. The bed was very comfortable. I was close to a Medical facility that was a couple blocks away within walking distance, the Rite-Aid pharmacy was across the street. There are a couple of Restaurants I can suggest if You Love Italian Food

This is our first time at Best Western Plus Bayside Inn. Our rooms were immaculate. The staff always made sure they left us plenty of towels when requested. We had young children with us and the breakfast served at the Bayside Grill was good plus adequate and for our needs each morning. The reception area was nice and the staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. We were surprised when we received e-mail stating we would need to pay extra for parking. After I checked with other hotel accommodations in the respective area, I was told that majority of the hotel in this area charge extra for parking. We plan to stay once again upon our return.

This is the place to visit when in San Diego. The hotel is awesome. The pool area is awesome... the bar and its staff are.... awesome! Very chill atmosphere. Makes you relax and just easy to be yourself and feel comfortable. The picture below is the best red wine there! Kudos to the entire bar crew for making us feel welcomed!

We stayed here for 5 nights during San Diego Pride. Our room on 11th floor was well appointed with great toiletries and was cleaned each day of our stay. Breakfast provided at the cafe next door set us up nicely for each day. The location was great for little Italy, the waterfront and also the railway station where we caught the Surfliner train to Los Angeles. We would definitely recommend this hotel

The room was great and every person on staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet varies from day to day with a large variety of options, everything we tried was delicious. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

We had a block of rooms for comic con. The front desk staff was very helpful the pool is nice and doesnt close until 11pm on the weekends. The best part is the big refrigerator & microwave in each room. It was a life saver for eating between obligations.

Stayed here for a long weekend (3 nights) and participated in the Rock n' Roll 5k (Saturday) and Half Marathon (Sunday). If you are running this race it is the PERFECT hotel to stay in and is literally right at the end of the finishers' chute. If you are staying here during that weekend for any other reason it is NOT great since a lot of the roads around it will be closed and I think parking is at a minimum. Close to a lot of restaurants within walking distance, and some attractions at the waterfront.

If you're looking for a convenient location to the harbor area, this is a good choice. Easy walk to the harbor. So-so breakfast, nothing special. Good shuttle service to airport. Nice view from 12th floor.

My family stayed here in the week leading up to July 4th. The main reason we chose this hotel was its location - four blocks to Waterfront Park, two blocks to rows and rows of restaurants in Little Italy, and four blocks to Santa Fe Depot to catch the trolley, Amtrak, or MTS. When we arrived at the airport and called for the shuttle, we were told it wasn't available, but to take a taxi and we would be reimbursed upon arrival, which occurred promptly. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and overlooked the pool area with a tiny balcony. Despite the late pool hours, we did not hear any noise once the blackout curtains were closed. The free breakfast was plentiful with hot and cold options, but became a bit repetitive after 5 days. We had a rental car for two of the days we were there and paid $20 per day to park. The garage is tight and there is no elevator service so use the unloading area near the entrance for luggage. I would definitely stay here again when returning to San Diego.

San Diego has never been more picturesque. Thank you Best Western for a lovely room. Even though there had been an earthquake which tripped the seismic sensors on the elevators rendering them inoperable, the staff were cheerful and helpful. I didn't even mind the 7 floor hike to the room.

I had a very pleasant stay here. I really enjoyed the pool, just wish the jaccuzzi was in working order the night I was there. My only suggestion would be to have the restaurant and lounge open in the week during the summer at least until 9:00 for late arrivals from the airport. Also, have the hours posted on the front door. Nice shuttle to and from the airport

We chose this hotel based on price and location. We loved being across from the Little Italy district and our kids loved the pool and spa. The free breakfast was plentiful and there was way too much to choose from.

The extra to ensure a high floor with bay view was a waste of money in my opinion. On a road trip from the uk so chose the hotel carefully as we only had one night in San Diego. We expected an open view not a glimpse, hemmed in by ugly high rise buildings. Now we have seen this beautiful city we would have shelled out extra to stay in one of the hotels actually on the front further round. However ... the location is excellent for walking and the room as expected for the price . Enjoyed the extended hours of the pool/ hot tub area until 11pm. Parking $ 20 per night which seemed fair considering the local parking prices, staff nice on check in and room available early which is always a bonus. If we were staying longer I would have requested a room change or refund of the supplement, but for one night it wasn't worth the hassle .

Excellent finish line stay for the Rock N Roll Marathon. Price was great for the area. Hotel was close to everything. Free breakfast was much better than you typically would find from a hotel. Hot tub was small but comfortable. Little patio was a nice extra.

We chose the Bayside Inn because of the close proximity to the pier area. It was within a nice walking distance to the USS Midway and Maritime Museum (15 minutes). It was also conveniently located near Little Italy with several restaurant options. The complimentary breakfast was good. There was a variety of cereals, oatmeal, muffins, danish, toast, yogurt/granola/toppings, juices, milk, coffee and more. The hot breakfast items varied slightly each day - pancakes, waffles, breakfast potatoes, sausage, bacon ... We appreciated the use of the computer and printer in the lobby to print tickets for our reservation. Excellent friendly customer service. Highlight: We loved the bay view from our room!

Stayed here for a couple of days before a cruise. Was a good choice as they have a shuttle pick up/ drop off from the airport and cruise terminals. It is within walking distance from the train station. Staff are friendly and helpful. It was clean and the room was pretty big. You can hear a lot of city noise.

Location outstanding, bonus is the comfortable bed. I enjoyed my stay here and was pleasantly surprised at how good the accommodations were. Great internet, and TV. Also nice to have fridge and microwave, but best part was the bed. Enjoyed the hot tub and the hours of availability. On the downside the toilet didn't flush very well and the shower while hot was not very powerful. No restaurant but there are so many close by its not a problem. But this is a great place to stay. I would highly recommend it.

Booked this hotel for one night before a cruise. We arrived late morning at the airport. They sent the shuttle right away to pick us up. Our room was ready so we dropped off our bags. Location is close to Little Italy. We walked to several places. Great location for the cruise port. The next morning they provided a courtesy shuttle to the cruise port. Room was good.

This is a pleasant, comfortable hotel in a very good central location. It's easy to walk anywhere in the city centre from here. It's also easily accessible to the trolley / tram, buses and Amtrak, all at nearby Santa Fe station. There is a free hotel shuttle bus form the station too (useful with luggage even for the very short distance) and to the airport which isn't far. The breakfast is ok. It's very basic, and the restaurant, although in the building, requires a short outside walk from the lobby.

After our trip on a cruise ship we stayed in san diego for 3 days before going home. Best western...BW...was in the perfect place for us to do all the tourist things we wanted to do/see. BW is only a few blocks from the waterfront so we were walking distance to see the uss midway. Also only $15 bucks got us a taxi to the zoo, and only $10 to get to the airport. A bit longer walk to gaslamp area of town but the hop on hop off bus solved that and took us to old town as well both places are worth visiting. Very safe in the evening on the streets, and only 3 blocks from "litttle italy"...with many great dining choices. The BW itself is clean, quiet and the continental breakfast is always fresh and the attendants cheery and helpful. We would stay there again.

We booked this Best Western, a relatively small hotel, for a last night before flying home. The price was great, the room was clean and modern, the beds very comfortable and there is free Wi-Fi. We were offered a full, free breakfast and free shuttle service to the airport, although in our case they instead paid for a cab to take us there. The staff was super pleasant and eager to help out. Breakfast was good and certainly better than the continental breakfast offered by most places. The hotel's location is also very good as it is within walking distance to the Gaslamp district. A great way to spend the last day in California. We would stay here again for sure.

The people were great and helpful, truly genuine. I loved the peace and quiet at night. The free breakfast was awesome, I didn't have to make my on waffles. Everything was clean, giant room size. Easy to access f on anywhere.

We stayed at the BW Bayside following our Disney cruise. We wish we had stayed here before the cruise too! The hotel is a few blocks from the cruise terminal. We walked it with our luggage and it took about 20 minutes with our slow walking 7 year old. You could also easily grab a taxi at the port and the ride would be 5 minutes. For those of you with small kids and you don't want to bring car seats on your trip. This hotel would be an excellent choice. Maybe one parent pushes your kid in the stroller while the other takes all the luggage in a cab? Then you take the hotel shuttle to/from the hotel. Perfect! When we arrived at the hotel at 8:30am, we were able to check in AND they gave us a voucher for the free breakfast for that day. So great!! The buffet breakfast is typical. Cereal, toast, yogurt, pasties, whole fruit, waffles, eggs and sausages. A very good free breakfast! We also loved being able to walk around the nearby areas - Little Italy, Seaport Village, etc. There are some amazing restaurants just a few blocks away. And the rooms are great too. Clean, comfy, spacious, fridge and microwave. Pool is great! It was a little cool but not unusable and fun to go between the hot tub and pool. It's located in a bit of a courtyard so it's shaded most of the day (perfect for my redheaded family) Only two teeny things that were not as great. First, the Wifi was really tricky to connect to and it wasn't very fast. Not a huge deal unless you are here for work and need a really good connection. Second, the balconies aren't very useable. They are concrete and pretty narrow. The slats are also horizontal, so be careful if you have kids that are climbers. We will happily return the next time we are in SD!

We recently returned from a 4 night stay and had a pretty mixed experience. Pros: Excellent downtown location only about a 5 minute walk to Little Italy or the bay front. Despite the city location, the room was quiet. It was nice having a balcony to step out onto. We had a city view room and looked out towards apartments and office buildings. Good security in that you have to wave your room key over a sensor to access the elevator to rooms. Cons: Ice machines are located on only 3 of the floors. We had thermostat issues. One night we froze, two other nights we could not get the fan to come on or lower the temperature. We had to open the sliding door to cool the room. We reported this to the front desk and they said they would send someone up to look. I don't know if they ever did because there was no change. We went to turn on the TV and it wouldn't come on at all. It was late in the evening on our last night there. We reported it to the front desk upon checking out and the desk clerk was kind of surly about it. Toss-Up: Plentiful parking in the garage next door to the hotel with parking at $20/night. Spots were small and tight to get into. Breakfast is in a former restaurant half a block from the hotel. First morning was pancakes, scrambled eggs, and ham slices. Our second morning it was potatoes, waffles, and sausage links. Third morning was a report of our first morning. Breakfast doesn't start until 6:30 so we had to miss our final morning since we had an early flight. My daughter needs gluten free and there was a sign stating to request gluten free items. Staff showed her one option, so she didn't have much for breakfast. Should we return to San Diego we would try a different place to stay.

We stayed here for a four-day mini-vacation in San Diego and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very nice, clean, and situated right in the heart of SD. Super close to the San Diego Zoo and Sea World. And, only a few blocks for Little Italy. It was also nice that the hotel was located only a couple blocks from my college go-to dessert place, Extraordinary Desserts, which I was definitely going to hit on this trip since it's been over 15 years since I was last in San Diego! Free breakfast buffet was next door in a little diner/restaurant and was actually pretty good. The hotel parking structure had ample parking spots, which is very important to me. I absolutely hate and avoid hotels that don't provide enough parking. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be coming back here the next time I'm in San Diego.

We loved everything about it and were very happy! Great location, super clean, fast internet. We stayed at a different hotel prior to this so the comparison made this one look super amazing, but it really was in actuality.

We were in San Diego for one night prior to a cruise we were boarding the next day. I was pleasantly suprised with the level of service and quality it had to offer. First of all the hotel offers a free shuttle to and from the airport, as well as a free shuttle to the port. Upon check in we were given a "goodie bag" with some very nice snack items - a very personal touch, The hotel was also just two blocks from "Little Italy" which made it easy to find a good meal for the evening quickly. The only small negative that I feel compelled to mention though, is that the water temperature in the shower was very difficult to regulate and the water pressure could have been stronger as well. But the room was extremely well appointed with a large screen TV and very nice bedding. Cleanliness was also top notch. I would go back here in a minute.

They shouldn't advertise a "bayside view" when all you can see, is another hotel, where the bay should be. Waiting an hour and a half for a shuttle from the cruise terminal, sucked. The driver precariously placed my brand new carry on bag, on top of a pile of luggage and it fell out of the shuttle van from a 5ft height. It now has a huge gash, a wheel is loose and it's scuffed. The air conditioner in room 909, does not work. Cynthia, at the front desk needs some phone etiquette training; she was pleasant enough, in person. Overall, it's our last resort for a room, by the port.

The hotel is near the main points in San Diego. There are trolley and bus stops nearby. It is clean and safety. Breakfast is included, and it is very good. The price is not low, but the hotel worths it's value...

This hotel is older but it was everything I listed in my title. Last time I stayed 2 blocks closer to the bay but the cost was so much more! This hotel included a good breakfast, was a 10-15 minute walk to USS Midway, and right on the edge of Little Italy. The price was much more reasonable and saving $100/night was worth the 2 extra blocks. We paid to have a bayside room up on a higher floor. We could see the Star of India and the water from our balcony. It was nice that we could open the sliding glass door and enjoy the warm weather. We would stay here again without hesitation.

We were promptly picked up at the airport by Dan, the shuttle driver. He was very courteous, and gave us many good tips about the area. Cindy checked us in and was again very courteous and very helpful and had lots of knowledge to assist us. The room was very clean and well appointed. We had a partial view of the ocean. It is walking distance to many restaurants. We walked around after dark and it felt perfectly safe. We had lunch nearby at Extraordinary Desserts and the sandwiches and soups were excellent. The desserts we're beyond delicious!!! Great hotel...

The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was absolutely great, very friendly and very professional. The breakfast was the big hit. The scrambled eggs and blueberry muffins were the best. House keeping was always on time and very thorough.

We stayed here in February. The room was a nice average comfortable clean room. The exercise room was modern and clean. The pool area was nice and we enjoyed the hot tub daily. The breakfast was very good. Eggs, meats, and other warm entrees in addition to the standard cereals, breads, and juice. We chose this hotel because it is centrally located. We could use public transportation to get to anywhere in San Diego by just walking a few minutes in any direction. A Green light rail/trolley stop is nearby or its near the Santa Fe depot or near bus stops for bus 7 or 215 which take you to Balboa Park. Short walk to the Maritime Museum and USS Midway. Also this hotel is right on the edge of little Italy so great dining options nearby. The price of this hotel was half of many surrounding hotels which made it the obvious choice (using hotels.com). Overall very pleased with this hotel.

I checked in here for three nights last night with my 12 year old daughter staying with a group for a gymnastics conference and arrived late, had dinner and climbed into what appeared to be a clean bed. It was made up tight... and I woke up with a condom next to my face! House keeping clearly just remade the dirty bed!!! I went down to the front desk to speak to them about it. All I got was “I have to speak to the manager “. Terrible. They should be moving us immediately to a “clean “ room.

Stay here if you visit San Diego. Its as good if not better than higher priced hotels in the area - clean and fresh room service, close to Little Italy restaturants, 3 blocks from the trolley, free breakfast around the corner, helpful staff. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

This location had good amenities, the complimentary breakfast was among the best I have had in a Best Western Property. The location was also excellent, close to all the hot spots you would want to eat, drink or visit in the downtown area.

Few block from Little Italy and a short walk from the bay, this hotel allows you to visit major attractions on foot. Friendly staff, well kept and a good breakfast is included. Views are not great, though.

We stayed here post cruise. They sent a shuttle to the port to pick us up. The room was very nice and the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a typical BW breakfast. The hotel is on the edge of Little Italy and close to Gaslight area. it is only about a 10 minute ride to both the airport and the cruise port. They usually supply a shuttle to the airport but because we left at 4 am, they didn't so we called a cab. The hotel is close to the pick up point for the Hop On, Hop Off Trolley and the hotel sells tickets for it.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel. Breakfast was very good. Room was very clean. The pool at the inner courtyard was good for swimming. Location is very very good. We walked to gaslamp quarter, Italian district, navy-harbour. Each takes 10 minutes walk. We drove from L. A., parking was very easy and good organised by the hotel.

We stayed at the BW Bayside for a total of 4 nights pre and post cruise. The staff was wonderful and the location very convenient, we went to the zoo one of the days and it was very easy to take transit from the station a few blocks away. Easy walking to the waterfront, a kids park nearby and great restaurants in little Italy. The shuttle service was excellent to and from the cruise and airport and the complementary breakfast was very good with lots of variety. I would definitely stay there again when in San Diego.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and there was lots of room. The free breakfast was located next door. It was one of the better free breakfasts I have had. We had a room that faced the street. If you are a light sleeper you might ask for a room that doesn't face the street. It was nice to have a micro wave and fridge in the room. It was close to the bay and all the activities there. I found the service from the front desk was not always the best. Some were very helpful some not so much. The lady that worked Sunday evening said I don't know to several questions we asked her and never offered to help us find an answer. They do not have a van going to the airport everyday so they pay for a cab ride. That is OK except we had to wait for over 30 minutes for a cab. It is a good thing we had added on extra time to get to the airport. I would stay there again if I were in the area again.

Love the view, They gave us a room on the the floor overlooking the bay. It was New years eve, though there was no fireworks, we had a great time looking out into the bay, And also because we could see the bay, we discovered some event was going on and managed to catch a parade on NYE itself. Parking wasnt free which I think they could have thrown in for free for staying guests. Breakfasts were included, usual eggs and sausages but all freshly made and served hot. Coffee was good, just gotta make sure you head down for breakfast a little earlier as it can get very crowded and seats are limited. All good!

we stayed for a week here on vacation. We had a bay view room and the view was good from the 11th floor, parking is alittle tight if you have a large truck. The room was very clean and the staff is very nice and helpful

Spending a day and night here en route to HI tomorrow. The airport shuttle driver couldn't have been more helpful and informative, pointing out great things to do and see on the way to the hotel. Then hotel allowed us to check in a full 8 HOURS early, at 8 am!! The king sized bed was super comfortable. Because our flight to HI leaves before breakfast opens tomorrow, the hotel staff gave us the breakfast voucher for today, again going above and beyond. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to San Diego!

I can't rate this place highly enough. My family of 2 adults and 2 kids aged 13&11 had 2 rooms and they were both spacious, very clean and fresh. Beds were very high quality, not bouncy or saggy. Good pillows and overall great rooms.Breakfast was perfect and the restaurant staff were so helpful.Pool and spa were AMAZING, even in winter - yes the spa was hot and the pool was warm. Both were immaculately looked after as is the entire property.This is a real gem, I can't recommend it enough.

We stayed here for a short staycation from LA. The location is absolutely prime and the view from higher floors are easily worth more than the average nightly room rate. SD is a very walkable city so all the notable POI in SD is easily accessible from this Best Western. The lobby and rooms appear to be recently renovated. I would consider and recommend staying here when in SD. Ironically for all the areas where this hotel hits high marks, its brrakfast is woefully inadequate. Fortunately, Little Italy is two blocks away so any weary traveler will not go hungry.

With an airport ride availability on their hotel shuttle the hotel gets you started off well. Easy check in and the room on the top floor where a view of the harbor is still available. For me, the close sounds of the San Diego Municipal Railway and Amtrak crossing less than two blocks away. Half a block from Little Italy and one can eat for a week lunch and dinner at a different place. The complimentary breakfast daily isn't special but a reasonable start of each day.

We found the Best Western Plus Bayside Inn to be a great value in the heart of San Diego. It's rare to find a big city hotel with free internet, a full complimentary breakfast and free airport transportation. The room was excellent and the staff went out of their way to provide excellent service.

This is an excellent hotel for your pre or post cruise. Close to cruise and airport terminals as well as harbour and downtown area - two blocks to "Little Italy" a "must" to visit. Shuttle service and all other amenities very good.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Great location in San Diego, with Little Italy right next door. Just blocks from the bay and Gaslamp areas. Nice service personnel. Very nice King bed overlooking the bay. Only reason not 5 star is the water in the tub and shower area. Most cold water with intermittent hot! Breakfast included, but many wonderful breakfast options just a block or two away. Also free shuttle to airport or cruise ship! Would definitely stay here again.

We frequent Best Western Plus Hotels over North America and this one rates significantly below grade. The rooms are partially upgraded, but the bathrooms aren't. Not up to plus levels for sure, especially the mold around the tub and old fixtures. There was no notice before booking of an $18 per night parking fee, but there was no choice as there was no street parking. We ate in the hotel dining room for dinner, do yourselves a favour, walk a block to little Italy and eat at any of the great restaurants. The breakfast included at the same restaurant was terrible. Dried out crusty pancakes, overdone dried out ham and other Meager offerings. To top off this stay, they put a supper charge on our room that wasn't ours. 45 minutes of arguing before it was removed. On a positive note, San Diego was amazing, and we will be back, just not at this hotel.

Friends flew into town, and hotel shuttle gave them a ride to/from hotel. The view from our room was spectacular. We were centrally located, and enjoyed walking to many shopping and eating establishments. Our plan is to return next year.

A 25 min walk from the San Diego convention center, this hotel provides clean, spacious rooms a modest gym and a more than adequate breakfast at a quite location. It is a great value for those that don't need to be right in downtown.

We are in San Diego for a week of sightseeing. I made reservations several months ago and all was well when we arrived. This hotel is only 3 blocks from the bay and 2 blocks from Little Italy. The room we had was just great with a very good view of the bay. Bed was very comfortable and there were many amenities. The room had a coffee maker, refrigerator, and a good TV. The breakfast was a hot buffet was also very good. This was a very good stay. They also have a shuttle to the cruise ship dock. This make this hotel a real winner.

PU at airport and taken to cruise port next day. Attached restaurant not open except for breakfast which is included. Early arrival luggage stored until rooms ready.. Very helpful staff. The room we had had view of waterfront and was a very large size.

Chose this hotel for a two night stay whilst on a hectic Californian road trip. We desperately needed two nights in the same bed and it didn't let us down. Room was clean with a comfortable bed and allowed us to recharge our batteries! Reception staff were very friendly and helpful and provided us with directions and information to get our San Diego trip underway. Really enjoyed a dip in the pool and jacuzzi and it was nice to park the car in the onsite car park and not have to use it from check in to check out as everything was within walking distance. Location was perfect, especially with Little Italy a few moments walk from the hotel. Wish we had stayed here for an extra couple of nights and had a bit more time to explore San Diego. If a return trip to SD is ever on the cards, then I would stay here again.

Wow! Nice find. This hotel is very clean, very friendly staff, and very convenient. We stayed just 1 night but plan to be back. No one ever talks about the soaps and shampoo provided. I will! They are awesome here. The buffet breakfast is satisfying though not fancy. For this area, it is a very good value for the money. I higher recommend them.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The shuttle picked us up at the airport and delivered us right to hotel. The driver was VERY nice. All of the staff were great. My husband lost a credit card and they went above and beyond the normal to help us find it(and we did). The rooms are nice, and had lovely citrus scented soap. The breakfast is served at the restaurant next to the hotel. It is pretty typical but did have real croissants. The hotel also gives you a discount for dinner,they served wonderful salmon , all in all very nice. You are right next to Little Italy with lots of restaurants, and can see the Star of India from the street. You can catch the Old TownTrolley 2 blocks away. If you think all my reviews are this nice, read the next one about Mission Valley Marriott which get 2 stars.

I made the wrong date in the reservation (a different year) and the team did all they can to help me including using the same cheaper price of next year. Great hotel and value of stay. I would certainly recommend to anyone who wants to stay in San Diego.

We stayed 4 nights in the hotel after flying in from the first part of the trip in Vegas. We got a taxi from the airport which is a short distance away and cost $15. The hotel is fairly basic but clean and comfortable. There is a coffee machine in the room and breakfast is provided next door in the restaurant. It might have been because we were in October but it did not appear that the pool ever got any sunshine. The hotel is ideally situated and only a short walk to lots of bars and restaurants in little Italy or the gaslamp quarter.

I stayed here for five nights in September last. I picked the hotel for its location, 10 minutes walk from the rail station and the waterfront. The room was very comfortable with excellent facilities. The buffet breakfast was very good and suited me fine. It is situated in a quiet neighbourhood consisting mainly of offices and apartments but with essential stores nearby. I enjoyed my stay there and would not hesitate to return to it in the future. This was my first time in San Diego.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights while visiting San Diego and had a wonderful stay. Our room was on the 8th floor facing out towards the Bay side. I love that we paid a little extra to have a bay side view... it was beautiful! I loved how the sliding door in the room opened and we had a little balcony. I loved to sit by the open door and watch the sunset at night! Our room was cleaned daily and was always very clean. The only downside to the room is that it was outdated. The lobby and main areas of the hotel are updated and much more modern but the rooms could use a little help. With that being said, our bed was very comfortable, room was clean and loved having the microwave and refrigerator in the room. The water pressure in the shower was great and we had hot water. This hotel is a great location to amazing restaurants in Little Italy (quick walk) and a short walk to the Gaslamp District, Marina, and Seaport Village. The complimentary breakfast was also very good, we just wish they had more variety. After a few mornings, we would have liked for them to have mixed up the options but it was still nice to have a breakfast included in my room rate. For the value of this hotel, my husband and I would definitely stay here again if we return to San Diego.

Great value for money - the king rooms are excellent, well worth the premium!! The hotel is located near to the Harbor with lots of good local restaurants nearby. Balboa park and other attractions are only a short drive away

We chose BW based on past experience and its location to the B Street cruise terminal. It's nicely located about a 30 minute walk to the Gaslamp area, 20 minutes to Seaport Village and right at Little Italy. Excellent location for us. They also have a free shuttle to/from the airport and cruise terminal.

We had a good size room with all the usual attributes of fridge, safe, a coffee maker and toiletries in the bathroom and most importantly a nice comfy bed. We were on the fourteenth floor with a balcony giving us a nice view towards the waterfront. It's advisable to have a room on a high floor as there is a lot of construction work being carried out nearby. We tried the restaurant the first night of our stay as the hotel had given us a 15% voucher, you have to leave the hotel and walk past the carpark entrance to enter the restaurant, it is also the location for breakfast, as it wasn't busy the service was faultless, the food was good. The entrance to the hotel from it's car park is on street level so if you park on a higher floor you have to walk down through as there is no lift access. The location of the hotel is convenient for the Maritime Museum and the Harbour Cruises which we thoroughly enjoyed. A stroll away is Little Italy which is a nice lively district with a superb selection of restaurants. All things taken into consideration we enjoyed our stay and can recommend it.

I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights with my husband and 2 children (10 & 7). Our room had 2 double beds and a sitting area with a couch and table. Not all rooms have the couch/sitting area, so you could ask for a bigger room if necessary. The room was excellent. It was comfortable and clean. We used the pool/spa every day. Its small in size but enough for a swim for the kids and a relax in the spa for the adults. The gym is small but clean. Breakfast was a standard American breakfast. Nothing fancy, but plentiful enough to start the day. The hotel is in an excellent location and is an easy walk to the waterfront, USS Midway, Sea Port Village, Little Italy, Petco Park, the Gaslamp Quarter. The trolley stop is a couple of blocks away. There is parking on site if required. I'd definitely recommend the hotel to others.

We stayed one night after a Panama Canal cruise ending in San Diego. A free shuttle is available from the terminal, but rather than wait, we rolled our suitcase along the sidewalk for 15 minutes. There is a short slight uphill after the railway crossing. The room was not ready - we waited from 10:30am to 2:15pm. We went out to tour the waterfront, and when we got back they offered a beverage since the room was still not ready. Finally we got our King room with City view (1406). The room was nice and modern, comfy bed and linens, good lighting, huge flat screen TV, large fridge, microwave, keurig machine, safe. There are blackout blinds hidden behind the sheers. Shower head with multi setting and decent water pressure. Location is excellent, near Little Italy. Make sure you see it in both daytime and night time. There were free daily papers at the reception. Lots of restaurants nearby. We tried the The Kebab shop for a light bite. (Still full from the 15 day cruise). The free continental breakfast included sub-par pastries and coffee but decent pancakes. We had a free shuttle bring us to the airport at 9:40 am as an extra run (regular one was at 10am) Considering the reasonable price we got it was a great choice for San Diego. .

Check in & check out was quick. The bed was comfortable, room was cleaned everyday, valuable price as breakfast was included. Breakfast was Continental breakfast with 3 types of cereals, scrambled eggs, alternate sausages or ham, alternate waffles or pancakes. Rice was provided & also furikake (Japanese rice sprinkles - salmon flavoured) to eat with. Free Wifi & shuttle bus from airport or to Santa Fe Amtrak train station. If you don't have lots of luggages, it's actually only 4 minutes walk to Santa Fe train station. All stars are friendly specially the front office staff named Elena. I've joined Best Western Rewards program even though we are not from US. It's a good location if you want to walk around the downtown area to Little Italy & about 10 min walk to USS Midway Museum with Fish markets located next to the museum. It's better to request the room location facing swimming pool in lower floors as it has the least noise. During the weekend that we stayed, there was Octoberfest party that was right next to the hotel. It was noisy the whole day & to late nights but we barely hear anything. We have try hard to hear & very quiet in the room to be able to hear very tiny noise from outside. Definitely will be back to stay here whenever we go to San Diego again.

We haven't had a great experience with best western so far. It is our honeymoon and we were refused to purchase a bottle of wine. Every other hotel gave us one as a present. Not this hotel....i'm not sure i'd be rushing back. Most of my reviews are usually positive but this is the first time i have had to stay in Best Western. Views and location are amazing and bed is lovely and comfy. Although a bed seems more comfortable with a nice glass of wine. I'm sure there are far superior hotels in San Diego

Hotel is ok with clean and big rooms. Bed was very uncomfortable. The baby crib was of bad quality. The breakfast was ok, typical American one. Location is fine. The parking is good but you need to pay for it

One of the best Best Western that I have used. The room was clean and tidy. I had a very restfull sleep because the bed was so comfort. The restaurant was excellent; the food was outstanding and at a good price. The staff was always friendly and helpful.

We had no idea the hotel was in such a perfect location for moving about in San Diego....very easy to leave and drive to other places...and to come back to.....we would come back again or if others were going suggest they use this hotel

A fantastic welcome very helpful showing us around the area and suggesting things to see and where to eat. The facilities and Breakfasts were good. The free extras such as teas coffee and fruit were a nice touch. The free transfer were excellent.

A very good experience We ordered directly from the BW website We received a room with a view of the bay, the room was very spacious, the bed comfortable, the bathroom large and comfortable and there is also a fridge, safe, microwave and more We did not get to use the pool or the gym There is a possibility to purchase drinks and basic food in the lobby We found that the hotel is in a good location, on one side close to the water line, we went walked to take a cruise to cornado island. the hotel is right next to little Italy and we also used the scooters in the city and near the hotel to reach more remote areas. The reception staff was pleasant and courteous The parking costs $ 18 per day. It's a pity that there was no discount or even free parking service given to BW members, But in general the price is reasonable for the area. We thank all of the recommenders here on tripadvisor and we will also recommend others to stay at this hotel

Best about this Best Western is the location. Very close to transportation, the Santa Fe Depot is for buses, trolleys and trains. Easy to get around the city. Right next to Little Italy, so great restaurants. Like most Best Westerns, the room is clean, the service friendly, the breakfast okay. My reason for four stars is that they have locked the thermostat so all you can do is turn it on to cool or heat and set it to low medium or high. No temperature setting. It would just run cool air or hot air. That means that our room was too hot in the early evening and too cold in the early morning.

Overall, great and spacious rooms. We stayed 3 times, beginning and end of vaca. Staff was friendly and helpful - breakfast was varied and plentiful. Great location. Comfortable bed and room to spread out, good views and walkable distance to fantastic restaurants.

This was the first night we spent away from our twin daughters since they were born 2 1/2 years ago. I didn't want to end up at a chain like BW but husband really liked the location, literally next door to the music venue we were going to, so I gave in. Location could not have been better, but I think I'd rather walk a bit and try a different hotel next time. It was $170 before tax. The pros (and they are important ones): -Quiet room -Comfy bed -Relatively cheap parking ($18/night) The cons: -Cold, lacking ambience. Felt like a bank. -Front desk not friendly -Breakfast buffet was quite unpleasant. Very crowded and chaotic and food kept running out. Never seen anything like it. -Elevators slow -Got put in smoking floor where hall smelled (thankfully room did not) -Found a dirty q-tip in drawer Would maybe return if I got a much lower rate.

we toured Califonia and stayed in 2 Best Westerns and these were the best hotels so I would defitnetly book with them again, all the facilities you need, iron, fridge, ice machine, microwave, usb sockets, nice breakfast just get there before 8am as it gets busy. Laundry service is expensive to send away so we walked to the launderette which wasnt far. All the staff worked very hard and were very hepful just one litte thing which I am not marking them down for but I wasnt aware of the free shuttle service to airport, I had read the reviews just before we arrived so thats how I found out but think this should be mentioned when you check in. The pool seemed to be nice but shady but we new this was a city break so didnt have time anyway. Some of the best restaurants were in San Diego and getting around easy with trams, hop on hop off buses etc. Walking around the bay area was lovely seeing all the naval ships, the boat rides were good apart from the whale watching...didnt see any whales just a few sea lions and birds so a bit dissapointed at that and they said they saw one 3 weeks ago? these "whale" watching ships are daily and hourly...but apart from that we had an amazing time in san diego. Watch out for the bird scooters, people go very fast on them,no helmets and double riders. A big mention to Claims restaurant on the bay front and the italian across the road, excellent service and choice of food. So very pleased with our stay - Thank you

A well kept and clean hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. The gym was the standard size for a Best Western but was stocked surprisingly well. My kids loved the use of the pool. The room itself was very clean, well equipped and had a little balcony over looking the street. Breakfast is in the adjacent restaurant and is a standard buffet style. The location of this hotel for the price is excellent; walking distance of a lot of attractions.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon. We were able to walk quickly and easily to the hotel from the Santa Fe depot, the hotel is also close to many bus stops as well as the trolley- making it really easy to get around. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room was large with a small balcony, unfortunately we were overlooking loud construction work which did wake us in the mornings. We didn't use the pool but the area looked nice. Breakfast was included in the price and was fine to kickstart the day. San Diego is a gorgeous city and this hotel is located in the perfect place to wander and explore Little Italy, downtown and the Gaslamp quarter.

This was a great alternative for a work conference I attended at the Marriott Marquis. The conference hotel room block was sold out and the overflow hotel rates were all $260+ per night PLUS parking at average of $40 per night. BW Plus is always a good choice, and this was no exception. The room is very nice and the bed was super comfy. The pool and jacuzzi are open till 11 PM, which made it possible to enjoy after long days of conference sessions. Parking @ $18 per night is awesome for downtown. Absolutely the only thing they could have done better is to have help with luggage. If this amenity was offered, it would have been a perfect stay.

This is a really nice hotel in a good location very close to the bay and easy walking distance to the bay and gas lamp area. Really good restaurants in the area with plenty of choice. The room was clean and tidy and a good selection of breakfast items. The room is slightly noisy with construction work going on across the street.

Nothing but praise for this hotel. Shuttle to hotel and back to airport was on time and cheerful. Our room was clean well stocked and loved the balcony. Bayside Inn is in the center of the action for entertainment. Steps to Little Italy which is so fun, loved everything about this hotel and area. We are "walkers" so this was perfect. Few blocks to waterfront with a lovely park, lots of restaurants near by. Staff was so helpful with directions. Loved the pool and hot tub, was very hot and humid outside during our stay but room was so comfortable to chill in. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful stay.

My wife and I spent two nights here on our Riviera Travel California & the Golden West holiday. Simply put it is a good hotel. Our group had a welcome drink on arrival. The bedroom was a decent size with two double beds and a reasonable amount of storage space. The room had a big TV, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, safe, iron and ironing board. The bathroom was a good size with plenty of toiletries, bath towels, hand towels and facecloths. Breakfast was included in our deal; there were 2 fruit juices, a choice of 3 or 4 cereals, yoghurts, breads and preserves, hot fry-up option, tea and coffee. The hotel is in a good location near the waterfront, and also on the edge of Little Italy with plenty of good restaurants nearby.

Great location near the water front. Hotel is well kept and clean. My room had a balcony and a nice view of the Star of India sailing ship. Room was very quite for a downtown location. The breakfast buffet was very similar to most Best Westerns, but was the best presentation I have seen anywhere.

My girlfriend and I had tickets to the San Diego Civic Theatre which is less than a mile from this Best Western. This is a nice place to stay if convenience is important. The staff was nice, the room was clean, and an okay breakfast was included. We had room 908 which faced a tall building under construction with a huge crane at work. However, noise was not an issue, thankfully. The pool looked sparkling clean, and there is a business center, vending machine and soda machine in the lobby. The room (please see photos) had two queen beds, a sitting area, a flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi, an iron and board, hair dryer, small fridge and coffeemaker and a tiny balcony that maybe had access from the room. We didn't try to go out there. The bathroom was very clean, had some bottled toiletries, and had a bath with shower head. The beds were comfy, each one had four pillows, and a good night's sleep was had. However, the breakfast we had looked forward to was somewhat disappointing. It had many of the basics you expect at a Best Western breakfast: eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, OJ and coffee. It also had bagels and toaster waffles, and, surprisingly, white rice. It all sounds great, but when compared to the fare of other BW's, it was lacking. Still, it was enough to start our day on. Caution--there is a daily $18 parking fee in addition to the resort fee, so be sure to add these costs to your expected total at this hotel. After parking on the first level and checking in, you can take your luggage to your room, then drive to the second level to park. You will then take an outside stairwell to the street and walk back into the lobby through the automatic glass doors. Since cleanliness and convenient location were my priorities on this trip, Best Western Bayside Inn fit the bill just fine!

Rooms are clean and comfortable. Location is walking distance to a lot of attractions and public transport. Service and pool were great and the hotel has parking which made it easy to get around. We would definitely stay again. Only downfall was no laundry (although they do have an external laundry service you can pay for).

The hotel is very good, clean and spacious room. Friendly staff, good pool and a bid parking lot (you have to pay $18/day). The breakfast is served in a restaurant besides (which I thinks that belongs to the hotel). Good food and great variety.

Not sure why this hotel calls itself the Bayside Best Western, as it's several blocks from the actual bay. You do get a glimpse of the bay, as the hotel is on a high point of land but by no means is it actually on the side of the bay. My wife and I, on a tourist visit to San Diego, stayed a week here. We had a nice large room with a king size bed, on the 11th floor. It had a closet, large bathroom, refrigerator and microwave. There were two elevators, so it was convenient getting to your room. There was a nice TV that worked fine. No problem with the Wifi, it worked flawlessly. The included breakfast was good and the service ladies at breakfast were awesome. I would have rated the hotel higher except for the following three things: 1) The room had a thermostat, which could be set at your desired temperature but keeping it at that temperature was a challenge. Once the thermostat was turned on, the blower fan came on and would not stop unless you turned the thermostat off. This constant wind blowing through the room would eventually chill you. You could turn it off but then the room would get too warm. I called maintenance about this, who came immediately. He told me it was not an automatic system like I have at home. Something about a blower on the roof drove the system, etc. Anyway, he told me the system was working as intended. I asked, so if turn the thermostat off when going to bed and later wake up all sweaty from a too warm room, I have to get up and turn the thermostat back on to get some cooler air but then the air never stops blowing so I may go from sweaty to too cold. He replied yes, that's what you do. The uneven room temperature drove my wife and I a little nuts. 2) The Fitness Room was minimal at best. There were no weights and apparently, the fitness equipment was just shoe horned into this small room, so they could say they had a Fitness Room. 3) The shower delivered a nice spray but the spray was not forceful enough. It was OK for my bald head but my wife said that it would be really hard to get all the shampoo out, if she washed her hair.

Our family of four, including two young kids, had a fantastic stay at the hotel for 4 nights. The location of the hotel is excellent, being close to major attractions. We walked to the USS mid-way and Hornblower cruise terminal, all within 10 mins walk. Having and on-site parking structure is convenient although it takes some effort to walk up the stairs. Breakfast is lovely considering the rate that we're paying. Both kids enjoyed the jacuzzi and pool a lot. I do want to mention that we were approached by a man asking for a couple dollars to pay for his food near the hotel, although he seemed very gentle, so if that is a concern of yours, stick to driving. The area seems generally safe otherwise.

We were close to everything....Little Italy, water front, Gaslamp district, Seaport. Shopping and dinning. The staff was friendly and very helpful with directions. The breakfast was good but pretty much the same thing everyday. Very, very small balcony. They had a nice pool. Fridge and microwave in the room. Free WiFi. The only disappointing feature was the extremely dirty and worn carpet in our room. Couldn't walk around barefoot. The rest of the hotel was clean and welcoming.

very happy with location 2 mins from station ..airport short taxi drive..we used ofo self scan cycles went to small beach and pier near airport .and did trolley tour fantastic good buffet breakfast really reccomend princess pub ...

The location of the San Diego Best Western cant be beaten its approx. 15mins walk from the the Gaslamp district and 10mins from the uss midway etc. The main issues with the hotel and the reason for the low score is one of noise. The hotel is currently overlooking a construction site for another hotel. So for our 3 night stay we were woken up at 07:30 by drilling and hammering. Personally I don't come on holiday to be woken up at 7.30am and given the size of the hotel which is being constructed I can only imagine this issue will continue for some months to come. Also on the noise front there was a regular loud draining sound coming from the bathroom at random points of the evening/morning. Another issue was the car parking, which is $18 a night, when we checked in there were no empty spaces to drop our baggage off so had no choice but to carry our bags back down to check in, given that we parked on the 4th floor, and there are no lifts, we had to wheel our bags back down 3 floors, which was far from ideal. The rooms themselves were fine, if a tad tired, but it was impossible to relax in them with the previously mentioned building works going on.

This hotel met most of our needs, although I was unaware there would be so much construction noise from adjacent projects to the building. Appreciated breakfast and on-site parking. Did not appreciate the loudness of room doors closing, they should put a soft-close feature on the door. It was very loud when a group of kids were running back and forth between rooms repeatedly.

We travelled from Pal Springs to San Diego as part of our road trip. The hotel is nice midrange and comfortable. It has a pool.but it is small as is the patio area. However.most guests are probably not coming for the pool. It's location is good.overall in terms of seeing San Diego but is surrounded by building work so is noisy day and night. The staff were friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast is included and you can.park on site for a daily fee which is v handy. We went to old San Diego whichnis lovely and well worth a visit.

A well-located hotel. Close to the seafront promenade area, the Maritime Museum, near Little Italy...for European food enthusiasts and Italian wines....pretty close to a Mall, shops and the area with many restaurants...Clean rooms with good facilities. Staff at the reception, respectful and courteous.

Last weekend my Mother and I visited the beautiful San Diego, CA. I was looking for a hotel with airport transportation and in close proximity to the Bay, Little Italy, and various other parts of the city. Bayside Inn was only a few blocks from the Bay and Little Italy. The hotel also had a small convenience store that carried all of the necessities for a trip around town. The beds were comfortable. I didn't eat the breakfast buffet, but it was also included in the price of the room. We utilized Uber and never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a driver. We had a Bay view, but they also had rooms with a City view, or a Poolside view. Overall, my experience was great & I would recommend the hotel.

Good location had a small pool which we chilled in the sun. Rooms were fine for the stay. Had parking and was cheaper than using other car parks. Easy walk to the gas lamp and right next to little Italy.

We stayed here one night before cruise. Close to port and restaurants and even a drugstore down the street if you forgot anything. Room was view to pool and very quiet and plenty large enough for us and our luggage.

Stayed 3 and extended to a fourth night in this hotel. We loved the location as it is just walking distance to some of San Diego's must see sights as well as it's also nearby a grocery and shopping mall. The room is spacious and clean. We are very comfortable here, me, husband and our 2 year old boy who is adventurous by nature. It's also very quite despite being in a corner of 2 streets. Our room was on the 4th floor. The staff are all very polite and helpful. The hotel also has a complimentary breakfast which is served in the adjoining cafe just beside the hotel. Will definitely come back whenever we are back in San Diego for sure.

First time here, but probably not the last. This is a well situated hotel.. Walking distance from Little Italy and the Maritime Museum. The rooms are spacious and clean and service was professional. The restaurant could have been better and is outside f the main building. Unfortunately new buildings are popping up between the hotel and the Bay.. so try to make sure you get a room with a good view

I really liked the location and the breakfast. Hot foods and real plates which I appreciate. A different selection every day and very tasty. We had a pool view and it was as quiet as could be. I would request that again as I heard from others that their rooms were very noisy.

We arrived for a single night assuming this was an airport hotel - didn't notice that our 5 am departure was before their airport shuttle began service. The room was clean, but we hear loud car noises through the night. The hotel is very close to little Italy and about 4 blocks from the waterfront.

I stayed here while attending a conference. The room was large, very clean, but a little basic. There was a small pool and hot tub which was the view from my room. Breakfast was included at the restaurant next door, which was average. The location was the best part of the hotel, close enough to the gaslamp district but also very close to Little Italy which is home to some amazing restaurants and bars.

Hotel is located in Little Italy very near the Harbour front with good access to local transportation and to expressways. The staff are friendly , professional and knowledgeable about things to do in this stellar city. Our room on the 12th floor had a wonderful view of Ash St and the water. The breakfast was reliable and hardy. The beds seem to have been recently upgraded and are divinely comfortable. Quiet and friendly. Just what we wanted.

Stayed here mid April. Great location in terms of transport, near Santa Fe Depot although Little Italy was the nearest trolley stop. Good selection of restaurants within walking distance as was Waterfront Park. Room quite large, clean and with all the facilities. Not sure if it was larger than others but it was at the end of the corridor furthest away from the lift and it faced away from the waterfront. Breakfast in the restaurant next door was good, the staff worked hard clearing tables and restocking items. Didn't eat there at any other time. Hotel is used by conference attenders and cruise ship passengers, in fact the only real disapointment was not getting a late checkout as there was a cruise ship coming in. Overall a good stay and would stay again, maybe try and avoid busy cruise times.

BW Bayside. Really enjoy the breakfast and use of pool / fitness as late as 11pm. Also later check-out until 11am was valued. The parking was not as expensive as many other competitors, and staff addressed all needs.

Very helpful staff making the stay very pleasant, comfortable rooms & beds with breakfast provided in adjacent restaurant. Swimming pool available. Free Transport available too/from airport & cruise ship. Had a few days stay prior to a cruise through the Panama canal to Florida. Great location near Little Italy & Gas lamp District's for Restaurants & shops, especially the Cheesecake Factory which is a must ??. Good 1 Day local activities are Seaworld, USS Midway aircraft carrier museum & hop on off sight seeing tram.

We spent two nights at this BW. They pick you up and drop you off at the airport (free). The room was very nice. There is a Chase bank across the street if you need cash, and the TROLLEY is only two blocks away. The breakfast is certainly adequate - includes fresh fruit, hot dishes, and sweets, depending on your tastes. They are on the corner of Ash and India, and there is a phenomenal - very reasonably priced Italian restaurant (Isola Pizza - with so much more than just pizza) a couple of blocks away on India Ave. The price was so reasonable for all the amenities. I highly recommend this BW.

This hotel is in a good location for Little Italy where there are numerous restaurants. Its about a 30 minute walk to Seaport Village and Gaslamp District. The rooms are air conditioned, well equipped and clean although the carpet was showing signs of age. The bed was very comfortable. The 'sit where you like' policy for the buffet breakfast meant there was often a queue as couples were sitting at a table for four but the breakfast was OK. The only problem we encountered was with the courtesy transfer to the airport. We had requested a 5pm pickup and at 5.20pm a taxi turned up which we presumed was our courtesy transfer. Unfortunately when we arrived at the airport we had to pay $12.

This hotel is conveniently located in Little Italy. Parking is N.Y. $18 a night. We were on the 12th floor bayside which had an awesome view and a small balcony. The hotel was quiet at night. Breakfast buffet was included with our stay, and there was a fair amount of variety. Great hot tub and pool, too.

Worst hotel stay of my life! Been up since 5am - know why? A thin pane of glass and 4 feet separates my room from the LOUD street. Busses, cars honking, brakes screeching, you can hear it all! When I went to the front desk to complain at 6am, Tracy (the manager) acknowledged that was true, but shrugged and said, too bad because “that's the room you picked!!” Literally, those were her exact words. I picked?? The hell I did! I won't be picking Worst Western ever again. BET.

Always a great hotel very clean, staff is always very helpful. The location is perfect steps away from Little Italy, Civico 1845 and Harbor Breakfast both very good restaurants, for Pizza Landinis. Walking distance to the water front. We always stay here and will continue to do so.

Stayed at this Best Western Plus for a technology conference. Within reasonable walking distance of the tourist sites, restaurants and offices downtown. It was a nice hotel and one of the least expensive options.

Mange to get a early check in after a long flight. Thank You BW! Small gym with a small pool catered mostly for they young ones. For those you want a 30 minute walk to Midway, may I suggest this place. Many fine restaurants to choose from. Mattress a little soft for my liking. Good service and great people working there.

The hotel is short walking distance from Little Italy and a longer walk to the waterfront. The rooms were large and well appointed. My only complaint regarding the room was the carpet was badly stained and in need of replacing. The remainder of the room was very clean. The staff were friendly and welcoming although there were a couple of times that language differences made communicating a challenge. Check in was slow but there were only two employees working check in and we were with the first wave of guests who were attending a conference of over 8,000 attendees. Be very careful when you book your room. There are smoking rooms and somehow I wound up in one. My major complaint is that at check in the staff member was more concerned about whose fault it was rather than attempting to rectify the situation. By that time I had been traveling for 8+ hours and was dealing with a two hour time change only to find out I was spending the next 7 days in a smoking room. Requests for an air purifier were ignored. During my stay a colleague experienced a medical emergency that required a trip by ambulance to the ER. The hotel staff went out of there way to make sure my friend was well taken care of and had whatever she needed when we returned to the hotel including a ride back from the ER in their shuttle. A shout out to Eduardo, the security guard, who was sent by the front desk to her room at 4:00 a.m., called 911, stayed with her until I could get there, escorted the paramedics to her room and was professional, calm, reassuring and kind.

We flew to San Diego from Las Vegas for a long weekend while on vacation. Hotel located very close to airport, making the transfer easy and quite quick even using shared shuttle service. Hotel located in central area in San Diego. Hotel was clean and pleasant on arrival, hotel reception staff were friendly and attentive. Room was clean and perfectly comfortable for our stay. Room came with a small balcony, fridge and microwave, beds were very comfortable. A free buffet was also included in the price which was available in a small restaurant next door to the hotel. We took advantage of this event morning, selection of warm food and toast and pastries, simple but tasty and enough to fill you up in the morning. A short 5-10 min walk to the waterside, from here you can walk along the picturesque waterfront to downtown and the Gas Lamp Quarter. Another short walk from the hotel will take you to the Santa Fe trolley station which forms part of the local transportation network, we bought a 2 day travel pass to explore the Mission Bay area on the Pacific Coast. Great service, easy to use and very affordable. Really enjoyed exploring San Diego without a car, and the hotel location was perfect for this. Highly recommend staying here.

A great location. Served with the best breakfast EVER in the attached restaurant. Fast free shuttle service from the airport and to the cruise port. Beautiful room with a balcony with a view of the bay. This will be the only hotel I will use on my next trip to San Diego

This hotel served us very well for our San Diego trip. The location next to Little Italy was ideal and we were very close to the light rail stop so we could get around easily without a car. The many bikes and scooters around town made things even more convenient. I would like to see more fruit options for the breakfast, but otherwise it was good.

The hotel was conveniently located to the freeway as well as in walking distance to the harbor. The staff was friendly and the hotel was well kept. The included breakfast included a variety of hot and cold items. This was a great value hotel in a convenient location!

Yuki was process my check in and she put me in 2nd floor, I actually like higher floor. The room is so huge and a little outdated but very clean so all is fine, thanks Yuki for helping me during my check out date due to my problem with rental car. Wi-Fi works well and microwave and others amenities is nice. I booked for 4 days and need to attend the conventioncenter, so i just rent the lime bike by lime applications which is super convenient got free breakfast but never had chance to enjoy due to my time and kitchen is too far from rooms Highly recommendeds for travelers who like huge room and near to the bay

Was there on vacation with wife and step son. Plain arrived a few hours earlier then check in tine. Called hotel and confirmed we were staying with them and sent shuttle to pick us up. Driver was nice and had a great personality. Arrived at hotel and staff was really nice. We were able to get our room a few hours early. Was on the 7th floor with a city view. Breakfast was good and yes, you receive vouchers when you check in for your free breakfast. You do need to go out of the hotel and go 30 feet to the restaurant for the free breakfast. Looks like hotel bought the restaurant that was attached and opened it as Bayside Bar and Grill. Gets busy after 8:30am and a small wait starts but goes quickly. It was a descent breakfast. Always had eggs but would rotate potatoes, sausage and canadian bacon. Staff was great refilling items when they were low. Hotel is within walking distance of Little Italy, Maritime Museum, Santa Fe Depot, ferry to Coronado and USS Midway. Its a little further to Gaslamp Quarters and Seaport Village. Was a little rough the first part of our stay as only one elevator worked and that one served 14 floors. They did have parts on order for other elevator and was repaired for second part of our stay. Room was your average room with refrigerator, small coffee pot and balcony. There is a small workout room and outdoor pool which we did not get to use either. Our flight wasnt until later in the evening on the day we checked out. They let us keep our luggage with them the whole day. We arrived back that evening and got our luggage. They even gave us a ride to the airport even though we had checked out. We will be visiting San Diego again and will be staying here.

This hotel is close to many attractions and within walking distance to the trolley and train depot. I especially enjoyed the free breakfast and shuttle. You can request a bayside room and the view from the balcony is nice. This hotel is also close to the Little Italy section of San Diego and there are many good restaurants nearby. I found the staff to be pleasant and friendly.

Really enjoyed our 6 night stay rooms very clean and breakfast lovely we like to be up and out so spend very little time in hotel rooms very easy to walk all around San Diego from this Hotel. Had no problems at all staff all very polite and helpful.

Clean hotel, comfortable beds, decent daily breakfast with hot items as well as cold. Walking distance to waterfront and many great restaurants. Nice heated pool and hot tub. Very friendly staff in all departments. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again if ever needing a hotel again in San Diego.

This was our first visit to San Diego and of course we consulted Trip Advisor. This hotel is within walking distance of the harbour, Little Italy and the trolley station and was reasonably priced. Our room was comfortable, the hotel employees were kind and helpful and our breakfast (small buffet) was tasty - restaurant located right next door - and just what we needed to start the day. We stayed a total of 4 nights and would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting San Diego or needing a nice place to stay (with shuttle!) before or after a cruise.

The location is great, the room was clean, refrigerator, coffee pot. However, the desk staff was awful, unprofessional, maybe it was the first day for the woman staff but the man was almost as bad. Don't even attempt to use Best Western Travel cards as no one knew how to use them. The breakfast is next door and it was awful, not much choice and truly not worth it. Location is great close to Little Italy and one can find great restaurants. The room was quiet. Also seemed expensive but maybe this is true all over San Diego.

This was a very good stay. Room 702 had a microwave and fridge. Compared to the Wyndham where we stayed it was a much nicer room at BW. the location was excellent...close to Little Italy and a 15-20 min walk to Gaslamp Quarter. Check out The Tipsy Crow in the evenings for lots of theme nights. The only downside was the location for breakfast to have to go outside and virtually no bar/ lounge.

This is primarily a pre-cruise hotel. Most people spend one night here at discounted prices. The price for a non-cruise stay is overpriced for what you get. Pricing is comparable with higher-end hotels in better locations. Breakfast is great if you like to eat carbs - there was no low-fat/low sugar anything, other than scrambled powder eggs. Breakfast isn't even a typical Best Western breakfast. The bedding was average Best Western - not sure why it's called a Best Western "Plus". In addition, the breakfast area is outside the hotel - no access from inside the hotel. And the breakfast area isn't heated - not normally a problem in San Diego, but it was the same temp inside as outside when I was there - about 50 F. There are better options!

This hotel is near to the trolley station, as such it is very convenient to go around the city by trolley. Room was clean and it had everything I need, except bathroom slippers. If the hotel provides bathroom slippers, I would have given 5 stars in the rating. The service at the reception was friendly, helpful and professional. And also, I love the bed, which was very comfortable.

Staff could give a darn, their indifferent borders on rudeness. Lobby is threadbare definitely needs some updating. We spend one night here at the end of our 3 week stay in San Diego County. We selected the hotel because they advertised a free airport shuttle - that was a joke because even though we booked a wheelchair accessible room and asked about the shuttle at the time of booking the hotel neglected to mention the shuttle wasn't wheelchair accessible. When we found this out we asked the front desk staff to help us get a ride to the airport. Several hours later (around 10 PM) they called to advise that they were unable to help us. Luckily for us, my partner had felt the hotel staff wasn't really interested in helping us, so we'd arranged for a wheelchair accessible taxi. The nightmare doesn't end there. When we booked we were told that although their reduced mobility room with a roll-in shower wasn't available, they had a reduced mobility room with a shower bench in the tub. Being it was only for one night we selected that room. Imagine my surprise when I looked in the bathroom and discover 7 holes in the wall where the bench should have been anchored. I called the front desk, explained the problem and rather than getting an apology and suggesting a solution I was given a song and dance about liabilities. I finally asked about for portal shower stool and was told they'd check with housekeeping and get right back to me. ½ hour later having heard nothing I called the front desk a second time and was told they would check with housekeeping and call right back. They never did call back but housekeeping eventually arrived with a shower tool. Although the room was dated and the bed was not comfortable, the room was clean – that fact stopped me from give the hotel a rating of terrible. This is the second time we have tried The Best Western while in the US – never again.

We stayed at this Best Western the night before our cruise. Hotel was clean and staff were excellent. They offer a shuttle to the cruise terminal but are located close enough that one could walk. Breakfast included was good value.

This small hotel is in a great location for sightseeing. We had a room on level 11. We had a tiny balcony and a partial seaview, a large block of flats is being built in front. The room was a good size, clean and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was very basic but sufficient at a diner attached to the hotel just down the street. It was quiet, no noise from other rooms. Check in staff pleasant. We were taken to get our cruise ship by courtesy bus. It was not far from Little Italy for supper I would use this hotel again

I haven't stayed in a Best Western for several decades - back in the early 80's when traveling to see my grandparents with my parents. This chain wasn't the best of chains - at least the one I always stayed in to and from my grandparents. I booked this hotel in Downtown in order to attend a 3 day conference and save a bit of money. What I found is that this hotel has made me a new believer in Best Western if all of their hotels are as clean, friendly and updated as this establishment. For a room at about $100 less PER NIGHT, I had a great large, comfortable room which was clean, fast internet and a short walk to conference centers. The only issue I had the entire trip was that the pool was closed for the week as they were installing a new Best Western sign. There is a free shuttle to and from the airport. They have a restaurant - which is a bit quirky as others have mentioned - it is on the other side of their garage entrance - accessible only from outside of the hotel. Front desk staff was great evenings and morning - save for one older guy who stood in front of the computer every morning and said hi to or assisted no one - even if he was the only one at the desk and you needed assistance. Wi-Fi was very fast and reliable. Heating and cooling was on the mark. They do need, however, easy to access plugs at the bedside tables and at the desk/table as I had to unplug a lamp to plug in my laptop and phone.

Conveniently located for public transportation, great food (think Little Italy), nearby drug store and grocery. Clean, good-sized rooms and very helpful staff. It's hard to be in a bad mood in Sunny San Diego.

The Bayside Inn is within easy walking distance of the harbor, Gas Lamp district, and Little Italy. This was our first vacation in San Diego, and the front desk staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, well appointed, and it appears they recently renovated the bathroom. The free airport shuttle, and having breakfast included at the attached restaurant was a definite savings. The breakfast buffet selections are one of the best we've experienced at Best Western. Would have given an excellent rating except for problems with the television in our room. It had to turned off and back on again to get sound, and changing channels was almost impossible. We asked for a new remote, but that didn't seem to help. Also, the shower temperature was difficult to regulate and seemed to fluctuate randomly. These were minor inconveniences though, and will definitely stay at the Bayside Inn again when visiting San Diego.

We stayed 2 nights here after we got off the cruise ship. Really nice hotel, modern, comfortable beds, large clean rooms. The complimentary breakfast was in a diner next door and was very good quality for a free breakfast. Very close to little Italy, about 2 mins from cruise port if that, about 20 min walk along the promenade to the gas light district (and cheesecake factory near the grand hyatt) The staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful. Would have given 5 star except for the fact that there is construction happening on 3 sides of the hotel which started at 7am so was not very good if anyone wanted a lie in after a long flight or heavy day. The glass did not block the sound out very well, so I would go for a higher floor to avoid the street noise. We were there on a Saturday and the builders were working, don't know about Sunday! If you are a heavy sleeper or an early bird then you will be fine, no dust etc.

I normally avoid staying at Best Western's due to inconsistent quality from property to property. I decided to give this one a chance as it was $50 to $100 cheaper than similar hotels in the area. The location is nearly perfect as it is in easy walking distance of Little Italy, Gas Lamp district, and Embarcadero water front. I found the room to be very clean and well maintained. It appeared it had been recently remodeled, with the exception of the shower tile (why remodel if you're not going do it a 100%??) The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They provided storage for our luggage as we arrived very early in the day and our room wasn't ready. The free breakfast was on par, or slightly better, than other three star hotels. The breakfast was the standard fare sausage, eggs (instant), and pancakes, etc. Overall, very good. I downgraded this property due to the fact you have to exit the building and walk 50ft to reach the breakfast area. The other issue was our room was billed as a "bay view" room. Technically, it was correct but a new high rise building is being put up between the bay and the hotel, which now blocks about 50% or more of the view. You will not get a full view of the bay from any room. I would stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone on a budget.

The location is hard to beat with the best bars and restaurants located in Little Italy. I have been staying here for years and there have been lots of interior design improvements. Great and easy parking. Check in and check out is slow and cumbersome. The desk area in the room needs an electrical outlet or a docking station. Overall the BW Plus is the best deal in San Diego

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights last month whilst sightseeing in San Diego. We couldn't have picked a better location, Downtown and about a 10 minute walk from the harbour. The location meant we could walk in the USS Midway museum and lots of eateries, Little Italy, Santa Fe station and several shopping districts. Our room was on the 14th floor, with views to the bay. The little balcony was not for sufferers of vertigo but we stepped on it a couple of the times. The staff at reception were always friendly and helpful. The room was spacious with coffee making facilities, an iron and decent toiletries in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was a self service basis and located in the adjoining building. There was a good selection with porridge (oatmeal), cereals, fruit, pastries, waffles and cooked options. In the foyer there were 2 computers with complimentary WiFi and a printer, we thought this was an excellent facility as we were able to book reduced price entry to a couple of the attractions and print off our tickets. In conclusion, we would have no qualms booking or recommending this hotel.

From the pictures we really thought it was a much larger hotel. However, it is very much every inch utilized. Not a lot of room to spread out. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was average. Clean, but smaller than anticipated. We enjoyed the balcony, great view of the harbor. Decent pricing on parking for the area. Restaurant affiliated with hotel was very good. Wished the gymnastics tournament wasn't happening when we were there, rude kids in hot tub. Turn off, but not the hotel's fault. Great spot close to everything.

We enjoyed our stay here, the rooms were adequate and the location was close to the port and zoo. However, there weren't that many restaurants or fast food outlets for us, the lack of a laundry on-site was also not great... staff were friendly and the inclusive breakfast was good..I would definitely stay here again if it was just my wife and I but with kids I'm sure there are more suitable places out there for food and laundry options..

location is perfect, two blocks from Little Italy and a 10 minute walk to the Santa Fe Station and to the Gaslamp Quarter. The beds and pillows very comfortable, the room ample, clean and modern. Bathroom was great, as well as the shower. There is a pool and jacuzzi that are quite nice. The staff were amiable, pleasant, friendly and helpful. The included breakfast could have had a bit more variety but all in all it was good and it saved us time in the mornings. Great experience, would definitely return.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights after a 7 day cruise. Check in is at 4pm, a little late in my opinion but they will hold you luggage in a secure area and even give you tags for the luggage. The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. There is, as others have mentioned lots of construction in and around the area. But wasn't that intrusive as far as I'm concerned, even with it going on across the street. We were in room 904 and 906. Very nicely appointed with all you should need. My only complaint are the beds. Extremely to high for vertically (short) challenged people. The hotel does offer shuttle service but only to the cruise port or the airport and runs from 7am - 11pm. There's a restaurant that you'll receive vouches for breakfast and a 10% discount on dinner. The restaurant in out the front door and to your left. Breakfast was plentiful with pancakes, sausage lings, scrambled eggs, toast, bagels, cold cereal, different juices, coffee and there's no limit to how much you can take. Food was hot and very tasty for breakfast. We did not partake of the dinner. I would recommend this hotel and would certainly use it again should I find myself in San Diego again.

The location was great, right by Little Italy, and an easy walk to the waterfront. Everything at the hotel was clean. Our room was starting to show a little bit of wear and tear, and we had a couple of issues with the noise from the hallway and other rooms, but the beds were comfortable and the shower was good. The free breakfast buffet was offered at a restaurant around the corner from the hotel, which we weren't expecting the first morning. The amenities were fine, and the wifi worked consistently. It's a good spot for anyone looking to stay in the area without paying outrageous prices.

Excellent location. Friendly helpful staff for the most part. Phoning in to the hotel to speak with guests can be challenging. Very nice rooms with particularly nice bathroom lotions etc. In room safe is a bonus. Hotel is quiet with small but functional lobby.

Location in downtown was good. A bit more remote than some so it was quieter. Some rooms have balconies so you can open up door and get fresh air. Breakfast was really good and fast - decent selection of hot and cold food. Staff was very nice. Parking fee is much less than most other downtown hotels. Beds were very comfortable. Will for sure stay again.

We chose to stay at this location because it had good reviews. The location was perfect very close to little Italy. The room was clean and comfortable. The front desk people very helpful. The only down side is if you have car expect to pay for parking .

Free pick up from the airport & to board cruises. However you have to phone from the airport for pick up & if the front desk is busy this can be problematic. Friendly staff ,great rooms & free breakfast at the restaurant next door included. Front desk is a bit chaotic when first registering & front lobby is small. If you can deal with this -a great place to stay & good value for money.

This was our third time staying here and each time has been fantastic. Room is clean, well stocked with towels, and has a large, comfortable king-size bed. We always request a bay view room as we like to see the water and the lights at night. It's easy walking distance to Little Italy and the waterfront, and when we took Uber, they were only a minute or two away. Included in your stay is a full buffet breakfast downstairs in the restaurant. It includes eggs, sausage or ham, potatoes or pancakes, toast, coffee, cereal, juices, muffins and just about anything else you can think of breakfast-wise.

We stay here 2 to 3 times a year Best Location in San Diego right next to Little Italy. Easy walking to the Maritime Museum Harbor cruises Petco park and the Midway. Close to stations for public transportation.

Bayside is a wonderful spot! The location is superb--on the edge of Little Italy and a short walk to the waterfront and Gaslamp. The hotel itself is really nice with a year round outdoor pool and hot tub, and a fitness center. Our room was quite spacious and had microwave and refrigerator, and large flatscreen TV. The beds were exceptionally comfortable with great linens. The room had 2 queen beds and was actually bigger than expected. Also unexpected was the great view of the waterfront from our extra large window. I was very happy with my stay at Bayside, it was excellent. I hope to stay again on another visit to San Diego.

We love this hotel; perfect walkable location right next to Little Italy with awesome views and clean, comfortable, nicely decorated rooms, and very comfortable bed and bedding. The staff is also terrific and very friendly and helpful. Our room had a view of the harbor which was lovely with the exception of two buildings in front which partially obscured the view, but it was still great. We were on the 8th floor. Definitely recommend this hotel. You can also walk to Gas Lamp but it's several blocks further but still a nice walk. The harbor is only 3 or so blocks too.

I stayed for 3 nights and it was a super convenient location for getting to the waterfront, USS Midway, cruises, Little Italy, and if you're willing to walk a bit further, the Gaslamp too. Great value that includes a decent breakfast and complimentary shuttle to the airport which is about 15 minutes away. Breakfast buffet changes slightly daily - eggs is a staple. Ham or sausage; pancakes or potatoes. Apples and oranges, different kinds of bread, pastries, yogurt, steamed white rice, miso paste, and even salmon furikake is available daily. Restaurant staff is pretty friendly. Rooms are comfortable, but construction is taking place across the street so it starts getting noisy pretty early in the morning. What they could have improved upon- housekeeping. On my first morning, just after breakfast, housekeeping opened the door at 8:41am. Luckily I was dressed. While I didn't have my 'do not disturb' sign out, I expected them to announce themselves when they opened the door. They closed the door immediately when they saw my tv on (no apologies), but what was alarming was that housekeeping opened it again a few minutes later - this time, she stuck her head in and asked if we needed the room made up! I told her to come back in 30 minutes. This is all before 9am. I bet plenty of people forget to put the sign out - simple hotel practice is to announce 'housekeeping' and knock before opening the door. Yikes. They also forgot to give us additional hot water cups. Last improvement is asking the customer how their stay went upon checkout. This is minor though. The housekeeping issue needs to be fixed.

Each time we stat at this hotel we are totally pleased. The remodel over the past two years has been positive. Location of the hotel makes it easy to access pubic transportation and easy walking if that works for you. So many sights to visit all within very close proximity. Food at their restaurant is good and staff always friendly and helpful.

Great hotel to stay. In the city center, however easily reachable freeway. Big kinder playground in reasonable distance. Parking fee is reasonable. Rooms are clean and tidy. A little bit monotony breakfast, but in good quality.

Room was clean and fresh, staff are helpful and friendly'. Paper goods a bit low in quality. Breakfast was a bit above average, especially on the Sunday we were there. Convenient location to Little Italy, and not too far from Horton Mall. Good value for the money in downtown. Good bay view from upper floors if you ask for it.

We enjoyed a very nice stopover stay before our cruise. Landing at the airport, we were lucky to run into our Oceania cruise representative who helped us find the shuttle area to our hotel. There is an information booth at the airport baggage claim that will call your hotel for pick-up and direct you as well to the shuttle area. Our Best Western shuttle driver, Michael, was very friendly and informative about the location of the nearest wine store, named Rite. Don't laugh! We are allowed to take two bottles of wine on board. We ended up going to a closer new place called Roma a block away. They also had food to take out: salads, Italian specialties, etc., market type setting. Fairly good selection of wine especially if you like Italian wines. We ended up buying Argentinian wine for $10.00 a bottle. Reception was very friendly, helpful and also answered many of our questions about the area. Ate a meal at their restaurant and it was good. The hotel also gave a 15% discount coupon. Free shuttle to the cruise terminal was a bonus. The area around the hotel is experiencing a lot of construction but it did not interfere with our stay. The hotel has a pool and spa but we did not use these facilities. Although it looked very nice. We felt safe walking the streets later in the evening. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a stopover.

Best Western Plus is always a good, reliable, clean hotel - no matter where you go in the world. Bayside in downtown San Diego was conveniently located near the waterfront as well as many great shopping, entertainment and unique districts.

This is an affordable hotel in a great location. It is very close to the Bay. A lot of tours etc. are located at the foot of the bay. For dinner, Little Italy is just a few blocks away on India Street. The rest of the city is easily reached by cab, Uber or the Trolley. The Trolley (Light Rail) is only a 5 minute walk away.

A very nice hotel/motel. Staff is friendly and efficient. Their location is only four blocks from pier where cruise ships leave from. We are taking a Holland America cruise. Haven't been to pier yet so not sure if it is only Holland America lines or all of them that leave from there. They have a nice restaurant called Bay Side Bar and Grill. Food was goodd

Stayed with family for 1 night pre-cruise. Rooms dated but OK for a short stay. Carpets and room furniture aged and should be due for renewal. On the positives side, the hotel is in a great location for exploring Little Italy and the bayside within 10-20 minutes walk and secodly, the complimentary breakfast is very good with a great deal of variety.

Bayside's van picked us up at the airport, minutes after we phoned to advise we had arrived. Our room was clean and spacious. A decent breakfast was included. The next morning the van delivered us to the cruise ship dock, as arranged during the check in process. Bayside's location is ideal for those flying in and cruising out.

I recently attended a national convention in San Diego. I was unable to book into the designated hotels and frantically searched for an alternative. The initial phone contact was an omen of good things to come. A helpful lady explained location, transportation options, and answered questions with enthusiasm and cheerfulness. Ben was there at check in and was again a source of friendliness and info. The room was small but adequate. I was impressed with the cleanliness throughout the property. The free breakfast wa adequate, but again the staff there was dedicated and friendly. One request for help with a room problem was met with immediate attention and resolution. If you are looking for a pleasant experience with extras such as wi fi, shuttle service and breakfast, book here and you will be very satisfied.

Stayed here because of its location and it's nice clean and comfortable environment. It's an affordable hotel and nicely updated. Also included a nice breakfast. We used this hotel for a stay and park feature for a cruise we were taking and felt very safe staying and leaving our car there while on vacation.

This hotel is very close to Little Italy which has many restaurants. It is also a short walk to the waterfront and the USS Midway. Even though we had a car, we walked into the Gaslamp Quarter which only took around 20 minutes. Freeway access is close by and parking is available at a cost of USD$18 per day. Easy to drive to Coronado Island also. The hotel itself is modern, rooms are spacious and very clean. Great breakfast with many choices. Would highly recommend

The hotel is located on the edge of downtown easy to navigate to and parking on site. It is located only a few blocks from the bay and the maritime museum. The indoor and outdoor pool are nice to just sit by the pool.

Loved this hotel! It was CLOSE to everything...we did not have a car and could walk everywhere...in downtown San Diego...tours pick you up at the front door. Nice outdoor pool and hot tub in the courtyard. Will stay again!

Stayed 4 night and what a great stay we had. Had a decent room with Bayside views, includes free safe & refrigerator, small balcony overlooking pool tho the pool only seems to get the sun a cple hours a day. Staff were friendly and everywhere was clean & tidy. Yes there's quite a bit of construction work near-by, but that seems to be same across the city, doesn't bother you too much unless planning on staying in your room all day Great value for money, which included free breakfast next door and free airport shuttle Great location, with Little Italy almost on door step, Bayside front just a short walk with the USS Midway near by & the Gaslamp Quarter a bit further walk but highly recommended for a night out, special mention the Shout Bar, a sort of lively piano duelling/relay where they get the crowd to join in, a really good crack. Can also recommend San Diego Zoo, had a fantastic morning with the Pandas. From the UK but if ever back in San Diego, wouldn't hesitate to stay here again

For breakfast next to the hotel plastic knife and fork. Good choice for breakfast, fresh fruit. There is no possibility for dinner in this hotel. Very good room service. Hotel staff was helpful. Strategical location of the hotel for visitors.

You can't go wrong with the Best Western Plus Bayside Inn in San Diego. It is a short walk to the harbor so it's great for a pre or post cruise stay. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They gave us ideas about what to do and how to do it using public transportation which saved us money and time since the transportation system in San Diego is excellent. This BW is very close to everything. You can walk to Little Italy, the Gaslamp Quarter, and the Embarcadero which includes the harbor and the USS Midway. We took a bus to the San Diego Zoo and the Old Town and we took the ferry to Coronado Island. We had an excellent 2 night stay. The breakfast was free and it was very good and we had free wifi. We were n the 12th floor so we had a bay view. It was a bit obstructed by construction but we were able to see the cruise ship in the harbor just a few blocks away.

Good location, right at Little Italy and short walks to restaurants, tour bus, bay, and Gaslamp. Hot breakfast served each morning. Staff friendly, free shuttle from/to train station and airport. Quick elevator. There was a homeless person sleeping below my balcony at door to marked "hotel". Wasn't a problem though. Fridge in room didn't work. Overall it was still a decent stay.

Location is perfect, short walk to little Italy restaurants, shops and the bay where all the action is. We walked to little Italy each night for dinner and always felt safe. Hotel is clean and comfortable and room includes breakfast buffet with many options and located in the building next door. On-site parking for a fee ($18) is great. There is construction near by but we never heard it while sleeping so it did not disturb us. We had a room that overlooked the bay, beautiful view. Refrigerator, coffee and safe in the room. Hotel staff is very friendly. I would stay here again when in San Diego

Stayed there with my mother, staff was attentive and helpful, location was excellent. Rates were excellent as well. Walking distance to the water, little italy and lots of restaurants. Shuttle took us to the train station the morning we checked out. Would recommend to family and friends and would stay again.

Easy walk to restaurants, close to transit, clean and extremely helpful staff. Pool is not really in the sun unless it is overhead so don't count on the "sitting by the pool" experience. Rooms quiet. Breakfast area was clean and well stocked. Good coffee

Just about to check out and stayed here for two nights before our cruise to the Panama. Excellent area-very easy to walk to many different areas and lots of wonderful restaurants to choose from. Five minutes away from the cruise terminal itself and the hotel offers a shuttle to and from the ships. All employees we came across were excellent. So very helpful indeed! Hotel itself is older and though updates have been done it is an average hotel. Breakfast buffet is minimal.

We had 3 nights here recently. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Parking was very easy. Staff were friendly. Location was great, right near Little Italy and a short walk down to the water. You could walk anywhere in the city from here. Would highly recommend. Breakfast was included and it was a basic breakfast, but plenty to choose from.

Rooms are very pricey (I had Bayview with Balcony - yes, this is the most expensive). The rooms however are pretty basic for the price that you pay. View is ok - - construction was everywhere, so bay view is disappearing as we speak. Outdated décor but location is excellent. Nice area, right on the edge of Little Italy, but also, about 4 blocks from the bay, so we hung out at the bay and walked around Little Italy. Restaurant is good for breakfast, but not open for other meals over the weekends. It likely caters to the business folks during the week. Staff is excellent. Just know you are paying for the location, as the hotel and room are pretty basic.

This was my first visit to SanDiego and I can see why people describe it as paradise, great weather, friendly people, safe, and walkable. The hotel is in a really good location, 10 minutes from the airport, 3 blocks to the bay and 1 block to little Italy. Check in was quick and easy and front desk staff friendly and helpful. The room was small but adequate with a balcony, fridge, comfortable bedding and beds. We also had a limited bay view. While there is a lot of construction going on, it was not distracting. Breakfast was in a restaurant down the street from the hotel. Hot and cold choices were plentiful and the service excellent. My only complaint is the condition of the carpet. It was very stained and really should be replaced (room 609).

The hotel is a bit old, yet it is clean, well maintained. The room is wide enough witn refrigerator and microwave. The breakfast nuffet is modest, but good to statt uour busy day. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is nicely located near Little Italy with many good restaurants. There is a nearby Rite Aid. I would stay there again.

The hotel was clean & bright. Staff was friendly and attentive. I used this hotel regularly for business trips because it is central to getting to all things in San Diego. I usually eat breakfast at the hotel. There is a TV in the Bar area for watching events in the evening while socializing. Parking is convenient and ATM & Banks are nearby.

We stayed at this 3 star hotel for 3 nights whilst we visited the lovely city of San Diego. The hotel was priced well, had a great location in downtown and the rooms were good and functional. We were on the top floor (14th) had a King sized bed, microwave, and a coffee maker in the room. But be warned American coffee isn't the best. We paid extra and had lovely Bay views from our room and balcony. I noticed on the Tripadvisor reviews that it is the second ranked " best value" hotel in San Diego. We used the hotel free shuttle to collect us upon arrival at the very closeby Sante Fe Amtrak train station. Whilst San Diego experienced unusually hot weather during our visit we did not use the pool at the hotel. There is a pool as well as a hot tub. The pool is quite small and located in the shade but when I dipped my hand in the water the temperature felt very swimable. The staff were all friendly and helpful. My only problem was that our room was not serviced one day but that was quickly rectified once I called the front desk. Location was great. We were virtually in Little Italy where there were many Italian Restaurants to choose from. The Gaslamp Quarter was further away but very walkable. We were a few blocks away from the bay and it was only slightly further away to the USS Midway. One block away downhill was a convenience store to buy drinks etc. This hotel is a great mid range priced option and centrally located in San Diego.

We needed a home for the night the day before a cruise. Found this Best Western that was close, had free shuttle rides to the docks and would allow for us to keep our vehicle inside during the upcoming week. What a find!!! Rooms were clean and nice, staff was very friendly and shuttle driver was outstanding. First time staying here and they explained ever thin we needed to know about the shuttle about the area so we could go out and find some last minute items we felt like we needed. Free breakfast was not the normal hotel continental breakfast, but was provided by the restaurant that is located next to the interior parking garage. Outstanding! When we got to the docks, shuttle driver told us exactly what door to go through and to call when we got in and exactly where pickup would be. Only issue we had was that we had problems with the elevator, but another couple came just after we got there, showed us the trick and then we showed others that had the same issue later on in the day.

When we arrived at the airport, a call was made to the hotel for the free shuttle. The person who answered was rude and hard to understand. They kept telling us we had to go over the walkway to the other side of the airport, which we were already at, we had quite a wait for the shuttle. The TV didn't work in our room. I called down to the front desk, and they said someone would be up in 10 minutes, but it was closer to a half hour. He had to move all of our furniture, luggage, etc, stared at it, and said he couldn't get it to work. When I went to wash up before bed, I found out that the hot water handle, was for warm water, and the cold water handle (of the sink) was for hot water. There was no cold water to brush my teeth with. Very weird. There are 2 elevators, and they took forever to answer to your floor. Upon checkout, I informed the front desk, no offer was made for any sort of credit. Even though this hotel is in a good location, I would probably not stay here again. We stayed in room 602.

Lovely hotel..great location.. Staff where great..told us great places to eat and were very helpful. You have to pay for parking $18 a day. They have a pool and lounge area.. Rooms where nice and clean..i would stay again

I am not giving excellent score to the hotel due some minor issues, here is my summary of what I usually evaluate from a hotel: - Location: I selected this hotel mainly for its location, close to tow trolley stations, the airport, the bay and downtown. These items were very important for me in this trip. There are other options around, but this one made it in my selection. It is close enough from the trolley trams and far enough to hear it passing by. NOTE: there are some building construction around the hotel so you may hear some noise from those places (but this is something the hotel cannot control). - Breakfast: Another important item for me in every trip, I personally prefer having this option from the hotel instead of looking around and avoid invest part of my time on this. I prefer invest time for lunch and dinner. We went for the buffet instead of ordering from the menu. The variety and quality of the buffet is OK, I would add more fresh fruit (we saw only oranges and apples). - Room: The room in general is OK, I noticed the carpet is perhaps old and it not daily vacuumed. I would recommend to do a deep clean of it from time to time since there are people with allergies and also infants that could caught something from it when crawling. - Service: Very good, definitively you will find people willing to assist and help you with your doubts. I believe you will find not only at the hotel but also in San Diego most people speaking Spanish and English , so if you speak any of these two languages you will not have any communication issues. Aside my observations, I believe the hotel is a very good option for staying and enjoy your stance. This is the first time I stay at a Best Western hotel and I will consider it in my list of options for my future trips.

Wonderful except the AC/HV thermostat will only give you hot or cold. You can not control the temperature. The fan speed works. We had 3 rooms and all were the same. My room went from 88 when on heat to 63 when on AC.

Stayed 2 nights on the 12th floor with a view of the bay. Bed Bed was very comfortable. Room was very clean except for some stains on carpet. Bathroom clean and nice though a bit smaller than other bathrooms I've been to. Hallway and carpeting was very clean. Breakfast was included and was very good. Not much to choose from but maybe thats the way breakfasts are in the US compared to breakfast I've had in European hotels. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend Best Western Bayside Inn.

When I think of best Western I do not think of quality. Boy was I wrong. This a lovely sparkling clean, modern hotel. Very walkable to the train station, Sea Port Village, Gas Lamp Quarter, and Little Italy. We will definitely be back. Forgot to mention the lovely indoor swimming pool.

I've stayed in this hotel 2 times already; very good service; good, clean and modern rooms; private parking right next to the hotel; very good (free!) breakfast,... Excellent location near the sea and downtown San Diego. Would book this hotel again immediately!

In walking distance to the bay and to Little Italy, where there are tons of restaurants. Friendly and accommodating staff. Comfortable, spacious and clean rooms. Will definitely book this again. If you don't need a car, this is a quick Uber drive from the airport.

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights at the end of September after disembarking from a cruise. Was picked up at the cruise terminal by the free shuttle and check-in was quick. Our room was clean and comfortable. The location of the hotel is excellent - the wharf, downtown San Diego, Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy and the Santa Fe Depot are within walking distance. The front office staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and the free breakfasts were ample. A bit of construction around the hotel we had no noise problem. I would recommend staying at this hotel.

lots of construction going on around the hotel. not in hotel but across the street big condo being built. large cranes being used. being downtown lots of police and fire sirens all night not the fault of the hotel but I think there are better places to stay.

Close to cruise terminal, next to little Italy, walking distance to public transit. Friendly staff, clean room, breakfast included. Several construction sites started work quite early in the morning near by during our stay. Overall great value

I stayed 5 nights at this hotel. Pros: great location, within walking distance to Little Italy, the harbour, and Convention Center. Overall, facilities look recently renovated in the last few years. Cons: two concerns with this hotel. Housekeeping was the most absent crew I've ever encountered. My room was not serviced after the first night there. Initially thought it was because I had the "Do Not Disturb" sign on my door until 3pm which is when I left for work so I did not think anything of it. However, the second day, I did not have the sign on the door and had left my room at 9am, returned around 4pm, and it was still not serviced. I called down to management and the room was "cleaned" in ~10 minutes (as in they only changed towels and made half the bed). The fourth day, I returned at 3:30pm; to my surprise, still not serviced. I spoke to the maid, who does not speak English so I requested to speak with the supervisor, who barely speaks English any better. I decided not to leave any tip for them after my stay. The second issue is the water in the shower. My husband used their soap and said he had a difficult time rinsing it off. I thought it was just the soap. However, I always use my own shampoo/conditioner from home when I travel and they were difficult to rinse off my body as it washed off. I did not use any suncreen or new moisturizers prior. Not sure what could be done about that but it definitely lengthened the time required for each shower and was quite tedious

Good location central to town and the wharf. Five minute walk to the USS Midway. Plenty of restaurants and eateries. We drove to both The Zoo and Sea World from our hotel which were about 10 minutes away. Great place to visit.

very nice hotel, few minutes walking from downtown, 2 minutes from the bay and the park, nice view rooms, affordable price, but reserved 4 month before event, i am happy with my stay it was an excellent experience.

We were here for 6 days and 5 nights, and our room had a gorgeous view from the 11th floor facing the water. The hotel was clean and modern looking, the room had a fridge and microwave, everything you need for your stay. The attached restaurant wasn't open on weekends except for the breakfast buffet, but it's within easy walking distance to tons of restaurants in Little Italy. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the beds weren't super comfortable, so we got up really early most days, but overall we got enough sleep. It does cost $18 a day to park there, but they have a free airport shuttle and Enterprise will come to pick you up, so we cut down our rental to just the 4 days in the middle.

Great location and very comfortable and secure. Good parking, especially considering it's downtown San Diego. Typical breakfast was included which was good and dining area was very large, unlike most places that serve a breakfast. Easy .5 mile walk to the courthouse.

My stay at this hotel was one of the best. The location is supreme. It is right in the middle of all the points of interest nearby. The staff did a wonderful job. The only drawback was there was a lot of construction going on around the hotel. However, the hotel has no control over that. I would definitely stay here again if given the opportunity.

Check in easy...front desk was very helpful regardless of who was working. We had many questions and needed advise and directions, everyone was very helpful. Rooms are a bit larger than I expected. View of the bay, with construction right next door... which did not hamper our stay. Breakfast next door was fair included in the price. Parking is extra at $18.00 a day but this is a city... easy walk to Little Italy and surrounding area's. Room has Frig, microwave and coffee machine. Also a safe in the closet. We had a problem with the safe on check in that was corrected quickly, then we had a problem with the sound on the TV. All stations were fine, except Fox News..no sound. Thought that was odd since California is very liberal, I wondered if it was on purpose. LOL but a call down to maintenance and they came and fixed the problem. Yes I would stay here again. Pool is small but nice with comfortable loungers and chairs...we pack in a lot in our 3 nights, so only sat outside by the pool for an hour one afternoon. If you are looking for a clean hotel in a good location at a reasonable price, this should be considered.

Clean, friendly and pleasant stay a couple of blocks from water. Worried about airport noise but it was not an issue. Breakfast and restaurant were a great bonus. Will recommend it to family and friends

Hotel has been re renovated. Lobby and pool area very nice. They all so offer free shuttle service from hotel to airport asnd from airport to hotel. Very friendly staff. Location of hotel is perfect. Everything is near by no need to drive. Trolleys are available to get around town.

There is neighboring construction next to hotel. Noise starts at 7a.m. until 5p.m.+ Also hotel is remodeling and you can hear noise from power tools during the day. Parking is $18/day and stalls are very small even for a compact car (Lexus sedan)

We had a great experience. Prime location, very clean & courteous employees! Enjoyed complimentary breakfast, lots of people & plenty of food to go around! Great pool area, small but very inviting! Shuttle driver very informative!

This was our 2nd time staying here and it was just as good as the first time a few years ago. Check in was seamless. Friendly staff on reception willing to help. Good explanation of breakfasts and wi-fi. We stayed on the 9th floor (which is one of many floors/rooms recently renovated). Our room was clean and bed was comfortable. All your usual hotel finds in room. Parking is easy with access to parking lot via reception. However note parking is at a rate of $18USD a day which compared to most places in San Diego is quite reasonable. Valet parking available if needed. The outdoor area has a medium size swimming pool and spa pool. There is also a seating area and few sun loungers. Although the pool is stated as being heated note that this is not the case. The pool is heated by the sun which only comes over the pool area during certain times of the day. Also there are not enough sun loungers for the amount of people staying during summer and around 4th July week when we stated. We found ourselves creating a lounger by using the sofas around the pool. There is also a small gym, area with computer/printer and a small market section where you purchase newspapers and snacks next to reception. Breakfast is served at the restaurant next door to the hotel. You receive a free breakfast voucher for each day of your stay on check in. There are lots of different hot and cold options available from cereals and muffins to eggs and pancakes. Options rotate on a daily basis and all is tasty. Location is a 10 -20 minute walk from the waterfront where you'll find the HMS Midway and Seaport Village. Little Italy is a stones through away too. However Gaslamp Quarters bars and restaurants you'll find it about 30-45 minutes walk away. Also short drive to Sea World, San Diego Zoo and local tourist beaches such as Mission Beach Overall a great hotel and would definitely recommend another stay.
